Architectural Buildings
Liege-Guillemins is a prominent railway hub in Belgium, known for its striking modern architecture designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The station features a futuristic design with a vaulted steel and glass roof, creating a space-age ambiance that captivates visitors. As one of the busiest stations in the region, Liege-Guillemins serves as a gateway to high-speed trains, offering convenient access for travelers.
Well maintained train station with a colourful, huge roof that you would not stop looking at. The staff at the station office is very very friendly and helpful. We missed our train due to the delay of another train. The lady booked us another train route for the next day along with our to and from ticket to Leuven. Very much satisfied with the services provided.
Animesh K — Google review
A visually impressive train station, which looks incredible at night, almost like a spaceship. However, it is full of beggars, inside and out, which makes it feel very unsafe. There are also lots of homeless people sleeping inside the station building. I found some of the staff at the ticket office to be a little unfriendly, but overall, the train station served its purpose, with platforms which were easy to access, and trains which arrived and departed on time.
Tintin ( — Google review
I visited Liege city two years ago during a trip from Maastricht. The distance was short, and the train ride was quick and comfortable. When I arrived, I was amazed by the station’s(Liege Guillemins) breathtaking architecture. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the sweeping glass and steel structure felt open, modern, and futuristic. It’s not just a train station it’s truly a piece of art. Everything was very clean, organized, and easy to navigate. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates modern design. After exploring the station, I spent some time visiting the city of Liege. The city is full of history, culture, and lively streets. I walked around the old town, visited beautiful churches like the Liege Cathedral, and enjoyed the view from the top of the Montagne de Bueren, a long staircase with amazing city views. Liege has a friendly atmosphere with scenic spots along the Meuse River. Whether you love architecture, history, or just relaxing walks, Liege is definitely worth a visit.
Dr. J — Google review
I love the architecture of this station. The design just pops and it is very bright. Easy access to all platforms. The bus station is right out in front of the station. Few restaurants and food stands in the station. More outside of the station across the street. I really enjoyed my visit to this station. It is beautiful.
Michael M — Google review
Don't try to use luggage storage at this station. There is a tiny room in a filthy corner without any signage, impossible to find without asking. There are around 20 lockers for the whole station. Despite almost all the large ones being empty, the machine stated them as "sold out". Even if you get one, they are ridiculously expensive.
Lucas K — Google review
Be aware: Departure platform (mostly) blocked. We arrived on platform 1 and had 9 minutes to get to platform 2. We almost missed our connection because the first three entrances to platform 2 were blocked with railing, or yellow barrier. We tried 1 set of stairs, 2 escalators (which were running, but blocked). We jumped over the barrier at 2nd escalators, because the train was about to leave. We passed another set of stairs that also was blocked. At least three passengers missed train. Luckily we only had two 23kg bags and our backpacks 😅
Bryan D — Google review
One of the most exciting places I' ve seen in my life. Frankly a paradise on earth for photographers and for architects. I suggest you to come 1 hour earlier than your train departure, because it is high danger to miss it as you'll admire and photograph it! Finally, we have to notice that it is one of the most central train stations in the world!
EPITOPOU M — Google review
Fabulous design, have been through here a few times on my way to Bruxelles, Kortrijk and south to the Ardennes. Nice shops on the bottom floor, 3 coffee shops, but missing a General store for travellers. Has a mezzanine level that is completely derelict, pity, would have been a great addition to the railway station and added something to it's usefulness.

Montagne de Bueren is a famous attraction in Herstal, featuring a long stone staircase that leads to stunning city views from the top. The historic center nearby offers renowned streets like Hors-Chateau and Feronstree, with the option to climb the 374 steps of Montagne de Bueren for those seeking an active adventure. Additionally, visitors can explore the passageways around Montagne de Bueren and discover hidden treasures along the way.
Stairs to heaven, build to allow soldiers easy access from citadel do city. Now integrated within city buildings makes amazing impression around view for city and surroundings. It’s worth to climb 374 steps to look at historic buildings and see a view over a Liege from last 374 step on the top. It’s most visited place in Liege.

This was a really cool bar, right next to the giant steps. Downstairs you were able to get food, upstairs and outside was just a bar. They had all their own beers on tap as well as some other local breweries. If the weather is good the garden was a great spot for a drink.
Luke W — Google review
Probably the most impressive flight of stairs I’ve ever seen & climbed to be fair, and I’ve been up more than a few stairs in my time. Needed to catch my breath now & again! Wouldn’t like to be the postman here (yes there are letterboxes) As the signs keep telling you, keep the noise down to respect the local residents.
Toxteth G — Google review
Montagne de Bueren is one of the most impressive spots in Liège. Climbing all those steps might be a bit of a challenge, but once you reach the top, it’s absolutely worth it. The view over the city is truly breathtaking — especially at sunset, it looks like a painting. Just be careful on the way down… your legs might still think you’re climbing up! 😄🏙️
Niho — Google review
Worth the climb! Most famous location in liege. Suitable for families to visit. MUST SEE all the view points after going up hill. Only disadvantage is for wheel chairs and baby strollers. We will need to carry them with us to the top.
Sharanyan R — Google review
Good exercise with breath taking views up and down the stairs. You can count them as you go to see how many they are
Gerald N — Google review
It has around 364 steps, built early as a passage to the city. You will find amazing views of the Liege city from the top. On reaching the top you will find a hospital and view points
Aravinth — Google review
Beautiful view! It was very quiet on the day we visited. It’s just a public place so no need to buy tickets. Make sure to be quiet while walking up/down the stairs because the neighbourhood is a silent neighbourhood, so be respectful.

Historic Walking Areas
The Citadelle is a hill in the city of Liege, Belgium that overlooks the town and the surrounding countryside. The views from the citadel are particularly impressive during sunrise and sunset.
This hilly area of the Citadel of Liege is hard work to get to, but you'll be rewarded with excellent views of the city below. The views from the top of Montagne de Bueren are excellent, but if you go further along to Belvédère Liège, the views are even clearer and better. There isn't much to see of the citadel and it's mostly ruins. You can still walk around and see a lot of what remains as much of it is still standing. The area has paved walking paths and is a pleasant area for a stroll.
Macedonboy — Google review
We struggle to find it. Liege busses are not marked clearly. No indication of number of stops at bus the stops itself or in bus.
Hilda-Carina F — Google review
Wonderful area for a walk. Peaceful and great views.
Luigi — Google review
Wen you do a tour up there you'll not miss the stairs.
Sebastian L — Google review
There are 4 way marked walking routes which are categorized and 3 star in Michelin guide! Our walk started at Degrés des dentellières (the street of Lacemakers who lived just beside the townhall, and of such importance was their art). A rather unsuspecting entrance on Rue Pierreuse leads to some stairs which lead to a brick building in ruins. Yes, that was a part of the citadel. A few more stairs from here leads to the Terraces!
Mitr F — Google review
A nice promenade where you can see the historic wall of the city. Beautifull sight seeing and very peacefull

Café Lequet, located near the River Meuse, is a popular old-school pub known for serving the best meatballs in Liege. The hearty dish consists of two meatballs made from a mix of pork and beef, smothered in a thick dark rabbit sauce made mainly from apples, pears, onions, and vinegar. Despite its delicious food, the café has gained a reputation for not being very accommodating to non-French speakers.
Perfect food and atmosphere and very nice staff. We went with two small kids and were served super quickly which is always great!
Marianna B — Google review
Cappuccino was very good. Had only one vegetarian option with cheese. Since I’m not a big fan of cheese, I asked the waitress if I can get only fries, she said yes. After a while she came back and said I must order a dish and only then I’ll get fries - seemed to me a bit strange but I ordered the dish with cheese balls and fries. The cheese balls were okay but the fries had a strong oily smell and taste probably not suitable for my taste buds. I’d probably only go there for coffee but not for food
Pawan K — Google review
Best “Boulet Liégeois” in town! Hands down the best boulet sauce Liégeois in town! I’ve often tried to perfect typical Belgian recipes such as “vol-au-vent”, “carbonnades flamandes”, “American“… and also the boulet Liégeois but have never been able to match or perfect their recipe! The meat is cooked to perfection, the sauce is divine, the fries match well with the dish as they don’t become soggy in the sauce… The atmosphere is typical, the service is friendly and efficient. It’s not somewhere I would go to every day but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic experience!
Henri R — Google review
Café Lequet is a lively and popular spot, especially on weekends when it’s packed with regulars and new visitors alike. The constant flow of customers means tables turn over quickly; a good sign that the food is always fresh. The service is fast, polite, and efficient, though the high pace can sometimes affect quality. In my dish, roasted marrow bones, one piece was undercooked and still pink inside. Despite this, the overall vibe, tasty food, and energy of the place make it well worth a visit. Just be prepared for a busy atmosphere and the occasional slip in consistency.
Arash S — Google review
A cozy restaurant with good food, although our hostess was not so nice. We asked her if we can choose an other table, because the one she gave us was close the door and we were a group of 4. She refused and said she preferred to give it to a group of 5 people, and we were wondering the difference between a group of 4 and a group of 5. The service was so slow as well, we thought she was tired since she was the only one serving everybody that was there...
Y B — Google review
Great atmosphere, very kind people and quick service. On sundays they are busy but manage like pros. Combine it with the Sunday Market at 'la batte' and eat some 'boulette liégeoise' with artisan fries and a fresh Jupiler, you won't be disappointed...

Authentic place , the people are friendly and food is really good I was really surprised by the fries and the croquette actually which were really good even compared to a Friterie , the meatballs and the tete de veau were special too

This charming eatery offers an extensive menu brimming with Belgian specialties, including mouthwatering meatballs served with a rich sauce and crispy fries. Diners rave about the perfectly cooked rabbit accompanied by a delectable berry sauce, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to quality.

One of the best places in Liège for Boulet à la liégeoise. Friendly staff & kitchen is open all afternoon. Located in the city centre very close to the Place Saint-Lambert.

Very nice typical Belgian place that had a huge variety of dishes for every taste! If it’s your first time in the city or you would like to have a good dinner, this is for you! Smiley and friendly stuff speaks English very good. Highly recommended!
Julia A — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Au Point de Vue, and honestly, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The location is perfect—right in the city center with a beautiful view of Place Saint-Lambert and the Opéra. The atmosphere strikes a great balance between cozy and lively, with a touch of historical charm. The service was top-notch. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming—everyone made us feel right at home. You can tell the staff really care about what they do. Now, the food… absolutely delicious. I had the famous Liège-style meatballs (boulets à la liégeoise), and they were hands down the best I’ve ever had. Rich, flavorful sauce, perfectly cooked meat, and generous portions. The menu also had a great mix of Belgian classics and other European favorites. Whether you’re visiting Liège or live nearby, I highly recommend this spot. It’s ideal for a relaxed dinner, a family meal, or even just a good glass of wine on the terrace. I’ll definitely be coming back!

✨ A truly unforgettable experience! ✨ From the moment we arrived at Au Point de Vue, everything was simply perfect. The food was beyond amazing – each bite was full of authentic flavor and clearly made with care and passion. I highly recommend the boulet à la Liégeoise – a local specialty that completely won me over. The service was flawless – attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, which made us feel like special guests throughout. And the drinks? Incredible! The sangria was refreshing and vibrant, perfect for a summer day on their cozy terrace with a beautiful city view. This is not just a brasserie; it’s a place where great food, great people, and a great atmosphere come together effortlessly. Can’t wait to return. Highly recommended! 🌟

Marché de la Batte is a lively and expansive street market that has been a staple of Liege since the 16th century. Held every Sunday along the picturesque banks of the Meuse River, it spans over 1.5 kilometers and offers an array of goods, from local produce like fruits, vegetables, and cheeses to books, plants, and clothing. The market is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, featuring stalls selling everything from artisan products to quirky second-hand items.
Great activity on a Sunday morning. Plenty of vendors with meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables, clothes, handicrafts, and prepared foods for snacking.

Nice market with a lot of stuff, mainly clothing and jewellery stuff and not so much food as expected. It was really crowded and people don’t seem to have a sense of self awareness or keep any distance.

The atmosphere of this market is so hot and the scale is much larger than the Große Markt in Antwerpen. Also one thing that is worth to mention is that the price of good is very nice.

The sandwich shop Sandwicherie Pollux has delicious waffles and friendly service. The only downside is that it is more expensive to eat in than at the counter outside.
This is famous for Liège waffles. We had almost everything, and they were soooo nice! Especially, chocolate waffle (outside coated) was the best!
Hinata I — Google review
When in Liege you have to indulge in a Liege Waffle and so we stopped at 'Pollux Cafe', as where better place to have a Liege Waffle than sitting outside with a view of Liege Cathedral. The service was very slow at Pollux as they had one member of staff working and seemingly only one of their four waffle cookers in use despite people waiting for waffles. The waffles were tasty though when they arrived.
Martin R — Google review
We are not native French speakers, we walked in and it was difficult to read the menu so we chose one of the various sandwiches they had. When we tried to order the first thing that was said is that we can only pay with ‘belgium card’ or cash. Cashier was not proficient in English and afterwards we didn’t receive a ticket so we could not check if what we paid for was correct. The food was alright, the portion was good but that is what you paid for. There is only space to sit outside, of which was plenty and it’s located next to a bustling street with a view of one of the big cathedrals in the city.
Rick K — Google review
Hmm I read from somewhere this place serves one of the best Liege waffles in Liege. I actually walked past a few but decided to give this a try instead based on the information gathered on internet. There were really quite a lot of people in the queue, and the waffles they served were really fresh and hot because there was only 1 girl making it and the shop was selling faster than it could make. Finally I ordered 1 and managed to try. I asked the staff to recommend me and she told me the best is to eat Liege waffles plain. I tried it and I found it not too bad but I felt it definitely wasn't the best in town. Quite enjoyed it but I have to say I had better ones around. It's a cafe with some seats and also selling food like sandwiches, but looks like more people are just ordering the waffles.

POLLUX - my waffle stop in Liege 🇧🇪 Sometimes it can also be a delicious ‘’Baguette Nordique’ with salmon or ‘Baguette Thon piquant’. Always fresh, always delicious. Pollux is very centrally located, just walking across Liège's St. Paul's Cathedral. There are also outdoor seating options around the shop for dine-in.

I always go there for the waffle, it’s really good and prepared right in front of you - right amount of sugar and butter. Usually there’s a line and no places to sit so just eat as you go!

Modern European restaurant
La Maison de Maître is a charming luxury boutique hotel that offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for relaxation. During my visit, I dined at the on-site restaurant, where I experienced a delightful fixed menu instead of the expected à la carte options—likely due to the low season. The ambiance was cozy and warm, complemented by attentive staff and a welcoming owner who instantly made me feel at home. The refined cuisine was expertly prepared, making it an experience worth repeating and recommending to others.
Great food, super service, modern atmosphere. The only important thing to know is: at lunch only one menue, but perfectly cooked

The Val Saint-Lambert Crystal Factory offers a unique blend of artistry and history right in the heart of the city. Visitors can enjoy a serene atmosphere, enhanced by nature's touch amidst urban life. Although the museum was closed during my visit due to COVID-19 restrictions, I still found joy in exploring the shop where I purchased a stunning perfume bottle along with other exquisite crystal pieces.
It was a good experience watching artists creating a beautiful vase from scratch in front of us. All three artists were friendly and welcoming. I was tempted to buy something small as remembrance but everything was quite expensive. I would suggest/request the business owner to look into the possibility to have something inexpensive to buy as a souvenir.

Paid 8 eur/person. Is quite a small museum but we'll maintained. Had 3 big interactive pieces and dozens of smaller ones but behind cabinets also a small movie about the factory is available. Would like to have seen more about the production work, maybe some factory items.

Amazing experience. Visited the shop and walked around. I love the bit of nature right in the middle of the city. It gives a calming experience and makes it worth a visit. Shame the museum wasn't open due to covid-19, but that's obviously not Val's fault. Bought this beautiful unique piece (P.U.) perfume bottle in the shop and I am super happy to be its owner along with some other magnificent crystal items.

An interesting feature was the passage of time with glass & crystals. It was an impressive hot air balloon experience. No, not really. Its an effort to 'be there' since the inception of the Cistercian Abbey, as you see it from the sky in a hot air balloon! Its was a hot air balloon like installation with display beneath and around, supported by movements to 'experience' flying!

Le Pot au Lait is a unique hang-out spot housed in a 19th-century building, offering an eclectic experience for visitors. The interior is adorned with glow-in-the-dark skeleton murals, stuffed boar heads, and psychedelic patterns, creating a surreal atmosphere reminiscent of a Tim Burton creation on acid. This pub attracts an alternative crowd and is popular among Erasmus students due to its affordability and late-night hours.
We came here for a reason, as it's a fun bar to hang out it. The style is Tim Burton, very funky. Fun to just wander around the various rooms. We came for some drinks in the afternoon, good prices. Definitely recommend for a unique place to stop.

If you are into weird unique decors and colorful lighting, this is the place. One of the unique fun bars I ever been to. It's a huge location with mostly outdoor seating with self service ordering of drinks from their extensive menu. It's trippy, it's vibrant and fun to be just there sipping your drink and lost on surroundings.

Le Pot au Lait in Liège feels like stepping into a bohemian jungle of murals, mismatched chairs, and easy laughter. Hidden just off the busy Carré, it’s a place where time slows and creativity hums — students sketch, friends debate music, someone reads with a beer in hand. The décor is delightfully chaotic, the atmosphere sincere, and the spirit pure Liège: open, artistic, and unpretentious.

Laboratory
Hospital De La Citadelle (CHR) is located in Liege, Belgium, surrounded by various attractions such as Eglise Saint-Jacques and Musee d'Ansembourg. The hospital's trauma unit provided excellent care to a patient involved in a motorbike accident, despite the language barrier. The staff conducted scans to check for injuries and kept the patient informed throughout the process. Additionally, they assisted the patient's family by arranging transportation and providing information on local hotels.
I am very grateful to this hospital for taking care of me on 12 August, when I was involved in a motorbike accident. The Air Ambulance arrived and took me to this hospital where the trauma unit were excellent and despite the language barrier, gave me the utmost care and tried to explain what was happening. A scan was carried out to check for injuries and I was kept informed at all times. They helped my husband and I by ordering a taxi for us when we left as we had no transport, they also gave us information on local hotels. My husband called them yesterday, 25 August, as we needed the medical report and scan results. They were extremely helpful in trying to find someone who spoke English, and they emailed the report to us straight away. Heartfelt thank you to all paramedics and medical staff for their care, it was superb!!

I am SHOCKED by the lack of patient care with the MRI department. I am not fully fluent in french so they decided they didn’t need to speak or explain anything to me. THANK GOD I work in health care myself and am familiar with MRI so I knew what was happening when they injected me but they didn’t know that. (and to anyone who doesn’t know when you get injected you feel heat rush through your entire body and then you feel like you’re peeing yourself). Reception was great though that’s the only reason I gave a star.

came here to get a tooth removed and for that service u have to come before 6 am in the emergency section, its 8am almost 9 and theres still nothing, i was second on the waiting list for the dentist and there is 2 detist areas . They literally checked on us 2 times just to make sure were waiting, whats the point of us being so early and just wait like that literally people have lives and im running on 4 hours of sleep , if you dont have an appointment which btw i had one once and waited 2 hours so its not the best option either but if u dont have an appointment expect to wait 2 hours in the emergency section for nothing, and btw the emergencies section here is absolutely disgusting it looks like no one ever cleans it . This hospital is always understaffed, slow and just inconsiderate and for a big hospital like this this is just embarrassing
