The Breakfast Bar is a beloved breakfast and lunch spot with a stylish, cozy interior featuring chandeliers, succulents, and gold accents. Founded by locals Josh and Pamela Beadel, it has become an institution in Long Beach. The restaurant offers creative dishes that aim to bring the community together over food and drinks. In addition to its delicious food offerings, The Breakfast Bar also serves mimosas, Bloody Marys, and craft beer.
This is one of my favorite spots for breakfast. Their lunch menu looks great too, but I can’t get past their breakfast options. The potato cake is so freakin’ good. And ask for the jam for your rosemary bread! The staff is super friendly and attentive. And I just love the atmosphere - good music and good vibes all around.

The food was good, especially the eggs. I ordered French toast, eggs and bacon and it was tasty. The fruit was very fresh and delicious!! Our server was OK, although there were times he would argue with us about what we asked for despite knowing us knowing our individual preferences and how we order food. The food for our party came out at different times, with some people like me receiving food more than 15 minutes after other people who were in our party. The food was a bit pricey, especially for breakfast but maybe I'm not accustomed to California prices. But what was interesting is that the breakfast was more expensive than some of the lunch items. There was a bit of a wait for a table. We were initially told that it would be 30 minutes for our party of 11 but it took about 45 minutes. Other smaller parties of 2 and 3 also waited a while, likely because it was a holiday. When we asked another table for suggestions, we were warned that the chicken wasn't seasoned as well- which we later agreed with one someone in our party ordered the chicken tenders. Athough the buffalo sauce helped out with flavor. I never got to see the inside of the restaurant, so I'm not sure about the inside or what they offer or are suitable for. But I heard from several in our party and another close table that the lemon cakes were amazing!

Was expecting better, wasn't terrible but wasn't the best. Order was a bit messed up (everyone makes mistakes) so no biggie, asked if they can re do it and they delivered. But by the time they corrected what was messed up, my other food got cold. But overall it was fine. Waiter was prompt and prices are to be expected. Would try another spot before coming here again. The breakfast burrito was banging tho

Worst breakfast experience. The staff was really nice but unfortunately my food was not. I ordered eggs Benedict, and as you can see from my photo, the eggs were really overcooked. They tried to remedy the situation and brought poached eggs that were still floating in water and expected me to fish them out! It was a hot mess. The sauce was pretty good, at least. My friend ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was waaaay better than what I ordered.

Excellent food! Servers work hard and do a great job. Potato pancake is unique and so good. I like the ‘walk of shame’ menu - more affordable. Lots of flies where we sat which was unpleasant…

I took my mom to breakfast. On this day they happen to have their lemon flavored pancakes. I originally went for the French toast but that lemon pancake taste so good with the lemon flavored drizzle. OMG! It was like eating lemon pound cake. The flavor was so exact! My mom loved the fried potato cakes

Amazing lemon pancakes 🥞 I love lemon overall and this just took it over the top delicious! Must try if you are a lemon lover! Breakfast Burrito 🌯 looked delicious and my partner said it was and finished it!

This little place hands down is one of the BEST places I have ever eaten. Not just the food, it’s the people. The gentleman here were so so so accommodating to our family with a 4 month old baby and stroller. Johnny who was our server, played with my little grandson and was just so sweet! You just don’t know how much that meant to us. Everyone needs to come here. This place will be a go to always because now we have friends here!!! Thank you thank you so much.

Schooner Or Later is a locally owned marina fixture since 1985, offering American breakfast and lunch fare along with cocktails. Situated along the Long Beach waterfront, this iconic establishment provides scenic views of the Pacific Ocean and a spacious patio for outdoor seating.
We celebrated Mother’s Day at Schooner or Later and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was perfect, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was on point. Everything came out fresh and delicious, and the waterfront setting made it feel extra special. It was the perfect spotto relax, enjoy a great meal, and make memories with the family. Definitely one of our new favorite places—can’t wait to come back!

We just moved local to the Long Beach area, and everyone kept telling us we needed to hit up Schooner or Later! We were not disappointed (: Food was great, pretty basic brunch/lunch food - I ordered the Chilaquiles, but be forewarned, the red sauce is SPICY! Atmosphere does ALL the heavy lifting here. Water front, with a view of the boats passing by? Unmatched. Additionally, the great part about waiting for your table is you can order a lil drink prior to being sat at their bar. Service was great, and we’ll definitely be back soon! ⭐️

I hadn't been there in a few years but if anything changed, it only got better. I have been there several times and I honestly have only had the Crab Omelet with Avocado and Hollandaise. Onion Rings are made fresh to order and the Biscuits are a must have. Hard to believe that's my go to without having tried anything else in years. Hey, if it ain't broke, right?

100000/10 all across the board! My brother and I stopped off before the beach and were blown away. We’re from the south and the biscuits & gravy is the best we’ve ever had. The omelets were loaded up with ingredients, fresh off the griddle, buttery hashbrowns, fresh sourdough and OJ, etc. great kind and fast service from everyone. Absolutely blown away!!!!

This is the first time I’ve had a chance to visit and I’ve lived in the area my entire 46 years. I’ve heard of it but didn’t know they even served food and amazing food at that. We went for mimosas and brunch around 11 am on a Monday. Celebrating my besties mom’s bday and so glad we chose this location. The weather was awesome, it was pretty packed with customers but we were seated and served immediately. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. I had the vegetable omelet and a mimosa that was a little strong for my taste. But I don’t like overwhelming alcohol taste in general. It was still delicious I just had the waitress bring me an extra cup of orange juice. The waitress even brought us this new gadget that is a tall stick that sits on the table and it has almost like fan blades that are flexible plastic that it turns on and spins and keeps flys away from the table and most importantly the food. I believe all 6 of us in our party really enjoyed our celebration and the food was as good as it gets. I never would have guessed that place had such great cuisine. Thanks for the memories

My sister and I enjoyed brunch! Awesome friendly service! My sister says one of the best bowls of chili she's had in a while.

Very enjoyable breakfast on the patio. The view is amazing, as is the food. Coffee mugs are large. Food portions are also on the large size; great English muffins!
LH S — Google review
I was happy with the beer I bought for the long wait, and thought the rest of the experience would be good, too. The Greek salad was plain iceberg lettuce, which was mostly what this salad had. I was expecting a higher quality of greens, like maybe Romain for the almost $20.00 salad. Nope. The black olives, tomatoes and feta cheese were sparse as was the chicken. Not coming back! 🥲

The Potholder Cafe Downtown, one of four locations in Long Beach, is a beloved spot known for its American and Mexican comfort foods. The downtown location is particularly popular, offering a lively SoCal beach-themed dining room perfect for any meal with friends. It's considered the go-to place for breakfast, which is served all day and includes a variety of options such as pancakes, omelettes, breakfast burritos, and chilaquiles.
We had a fantastic breakfast at The Potholder Too in Long Beach! We ordered the Popeye and the Grand Prix omelettes, and both were absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making the whole experience even better. It’s easy to see why this place is a local favorite. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a great breakfast spot!
Kevin B — Google review
Great Breakfast Spot with a Fun Vibe The Potholder Cafe Downtown has that classic California surf diner vibe, and it definitely delivered a great breakfast experience. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food, and the service was friendly and attentive. I tried the Maritime Loco Moco just to mix things up—and it was so good! Definitely something I’d order again. I highly recommend this spot for breakfast if you’re in the area. The only downside was the Bloody Mary, which lacked flavor and didn’t quite match the quality of the food. Still, overall a great place to start your day!

I was invited to join in for a breakfast lunch, the restaurant was very quiet, clean, and organized. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The menu is pretty good in selection, I got myself the grand prix, a very good dish, and the flavor was great! I would recommend this restaurant for a quick breakfast.

Lovely local cafe in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Friendly staff and good prices not to mention delicious food and a great Wednesday waffle & eggs deal! 😊

Came here for breakfast the other day, and must say the few times I've been here, it's always been good. Nice portions. Good service. This past visit not so much. Food was great, been better before. But I ordered an iced tea, and the server returned to let me know they forgot to brew it. So I got a club soda instead. But never got a refill. Sat at the counter. It was slow. But the servers were too busy chatting or doing roll ups.

GREAT FOR THOSE GLUTEN FREE! Prices are better than IHOP! HUGE menus. The lady was very sweet to those who are on a budget, hungry, have allergies and make sure your meal is what you want! She’s patient and kind with all customers making sure they get the best experience to their comfort. Finally found a place that I truly like!

Starling Diner is a casually stylish, independent local cafe located in the quaint Long Beach neighborhood of Belmont Heights. It's known for its updated diner eats, offering comfort food with a twist on their brunch menu. The diner serves tasty mimosas in flavors like peach-mango or pear, adorned with flowers and lavender.
Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and I enjoyed my breakfast more than I anticipated. It's tucked away in a sleepy, quiet neighborhood part of Long Beach, which I really like because they don't have a dedicated parking lot so it will be street parking, but it's very easy to find in this part of LB. I would not really call this place a diner. It's more of a local hidden gem breakfast spot. Don't expect a giant menu or a coffee counter or other things that you would see at a traditional diner. That being said the food quality is really good and I feel the prices are fair. Our server was also very nice and everything that we ordered arrived quickly after placing our order. They have a few tables outside, but most seating is indoors, but it is quite small so there may be a wait if there are large groups in front of you. I started off my meal with a Caramel Steamer, which is basically like a cappuccino, but with caramel flavoring. For my meal, I chose the Chorizo Scramble and honestly really liked it. It came with a baguette on the side, which was a unique addition and the eggs and chorizo combo really hit the spot. It was also a good sized portion, but I was still able to finish it all. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone living in Long Beach or to anyone searching for a great local breakfast option.
Zan L — Google review
Came here for the first time last month with my family and had a lovely time here. Everything in the menu sounds so good, it was a bit difficult to decide. I got the chorizo scramble, others got the stuffed french toast and a salad. I'm convinced you can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. Will be back.
Brian P — Google review
We arrived there 8:45 am and was told to sit wherever we pleased. We found a comfortable table by the window, and we are happy that the place is not too crowded. We placed our orders, coffee and breakfast specials since it was before 9 am. The staff who took our order was pleasant and efficient. He and another staff came by to refill our coffee numerous times, which we appreciated. The food was plentiful and reasonable. Shortly after we arrived, more people flocked in..and we felt that we got very lucky to have gotten there when we did, as we would a street parking spot easily. I would definitely return to this place and try other items.

So, I originally wanted the seasonally Nutella French toast but my wife and I shared and she said no. So we got some French toast with fruits and stuff. Man, I did not expect this kind of French toast. This thing looked some someone took a baguette and threw it on a plate, but it was fire. I felt super fancy and stuff. The atmosphere was great, the service was great as well. I’m definitely coming back, for sure. Also, all San Francisco themed which was pretty cool.
Jordan B — Google review
We’re from out of town and have been coming here for years. The quality of the food and top notch service has always been wonderful. We can’t say enough about how much we love Starling Diner.
Kevin D — Google review
Comfortable space with friendly servers and amazing food. The menu has lots of great options whether you're craving a light breakfast or a hearty dinner meal. There's always lots of parking nearby and they almost always have seats available even on busy Sunday afternoons. The restroom is clean and accessible. The inside space can get pretty loud as there isn't much to absorb sound, but otherwise I have no complaints.
Alejandra C — Google review
Had a Ham and Swiss Scramble that was amazing. Loved the bread and potatoes! Staff was super sweet.

Relaxing place to enjoy delicious breakfast with prompt and friendly service. I tried the breakfast Polenta, I was a bit surprised it came out like a nice dessert, ha ha. I enjoyed it very much. My friends had the twice baked granola and omelettes, they liked their dishes as well. It was a reunion breakfast, and we were there for a while (90+ min), the server came by many times to top our coffee which was very nice. Parking: avoid Thursday morning if possible, no street parking on one side of the street due to street cleaning. Mist of my party had to find spaces pretty far away. I was lucky to get a space right across the street as someone left.

The Crooked Duck is a charming restaurant located near Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, offering a relaxed atmosphere and delightful dining options. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors, known for its weekend brunch featuring locally sourced menu items like Corned Beef Hash, Malted Waffle, Breakfast Burger, and the famous Crooked Duck Omelet with melted jack cheese and duck chili. The menu also includes mouth-watering burger options such as bacon cheddar Burger and classic turkey burger.
I brought the family and my dogs on this trip. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant was clean and my dogs were treated as well as I was. I’m sad I’m not a local however I will make this a stop the next time I’m in town!! The food came in large quantities. Mother in law ordered their Texas French toast. She was shocked to see 5 actual size pieces of French toast that tasted as good as they looked. My wife ordered the Kentucky biscuit and gravy. She was very happy with her choice. Finally I ordered the wet burrito it was very hefty and filling. Being a big man I appreciate a filling breakfast. Ps. The dogs had a 3 eggs scramble with potatoes. They also enjoyed their meal!

This was my first time at this restaurant, my daughter brought me here for the first time. We ordered a supposedly veggie omelette after sitting viewing the menu. After we ordered and was speaking to the server is when she told me there would be a .50 cent sir-charge on each egg and due to this being a three egg omelette we would be paying an extra $1.50. Trying to tell us that eggs are expensive even though eggs are down in price 83%, then trying to tell us tariffs are the reason, but if you buy from egg farms in the US as he told us he does, the tariffs do not affect you. After sitting there for only about 3 to 5 minutes here comes our omelette which is impossible for a three egg veggie omelette. She told us not to touch the plate because it was hot. This is because it was pre-cooked and they heat it up in an oven. The cheese that was suppose to be in the omelette but was placed on top and burnt to a dark brown crisp, and was paper thin with maybe a spoon of veggies. We sent omelette back and left after speaking to the owner. While getting in our vehicle, the owner came running out agreeing with everything we were saying that the omelette was way overcooked and the cook put cheese on top of it to hide the fake that it was burnt. Terrible experience because part of the food was cold and omelette was burnt, we believe it was pre-made food heated up in an oven. They should have it posted on their menu if a .50 cent up-charge on anything, and pancake batter uses eggs but no up-charge. We should have been served fresh food cooked correctly and not have been lied to or misled about anything because they thought we would not notice. This is what an omelette should look like, and my daughter cooked this.

Amazing brunch place! Went here on a Sunday morning. Parking wasn't too difficult to find. We got there and got seated quickly. They did mess up our order, but the food was good so we just chose to accept it because the food here is just THAT good. Their wonton nachos are really good and we got the chili Verde omelet by mistake. The chili Verde omelet was great, but theres no spice. It was like just having good chicken in an omelet. We also ordered the Mega Mimosa and it was super worth it. They have a lot of juice options like mango, guava, pomegranate, grapefruit, and orange juice. The bottle of bubbly was decently sized so for two people you'll get a nice buzz. The staff was sweet and the music and vibes are really nice. Will definitely be coming back
Scarlet K — Google review
This was a nice breakfast and lunch diner. It is styled with the history of the diner, ducks of course, and sport memorabilia. It is cozy and has seating for the inside and the patio. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very good and gave great suggestions. The menu has a lot to choose from and you may select breakfast or lunch anytime. They serve quite a bit of breakfast selections for a reasonable price and for everyone’s palate. The country fried steak was really good, the eggs were delicious and are served to your liking. There’s regular coffee and hazelnut; the coffee is not that strong and very light. There’s regular potatoes are good and are made with bell peppers and onions. You can choose fruit, beans, and other selections for substitutions. The pancakes look delicious and so do the other meals. There is a special menu and it may include bison. It is kid friendly and is accessible to all. Parking is limited but there is street parking. It is open for only breakfast and lunch.

I don’t know what today’s experience was all about but it was only my second time here and I came back because my first time was amazing. This time I brought a friend for their first time here and it was everything opposite of that from the moment we came in… We waited awhile until somebody came by to seat us, once we were sat, they put us at a dirty table that still had crumbs and goo on the table. He wipes it down, asks for our drink order and we both get the same latte. They bring them out one at a time with five minutes apart, the design on top looks bizarre in comparison to every other drink I’ve seen and previously had my first time. Then we wait forever for someone to take our order, I don’t know who our server is at this point. I had also nearly finished my latte by the time someone else came around to see if we had ordered yet so I asked for another drink. Nobody told us what the specials were, I ordered a special last time and liked it so I was looking forward to hearing about them and assumed since they didn’t say anything they didn’t have them this time. It wasn’t until I heard the servers telling every other table around us what the specials were for me to even know they still had what I got last time … this time I only ordered sides off the menu bc I didn’t know. It took another 10-15 mins until my orange juice arrived and it only arrived because I flagged down another server and told her it’s been so long and I hadn’t gotten it. She went around the corner and came back in seconds with it. Why did that not happen the first time with our server?? Who IS our server? The whole time we had tables coming in on each side of us and we’re seeing them all get waited and taken care of in timely manners meanwhile we were actively there and spent most of our time just waiting for someone to help us. It wasn’t even getting busy until we were trying to leave at this point. Bizarre experience and now I don’t want to go back at all because what was that?? I wanted to ask one of the servers who our actual server was but she walked away before I even had the chance. Disappointed because I thought this would be my new spot because I live in walking distance but after this experience, no thanks?

Had a great time here for my birthday lunch. Customer service was amazing. My only downside was the restroom only had one stall, plus when getting out the restroom, the door knob is broken and it took a while to get out of it, which explained why it took people a long time to get out of it

I ordered through DoorDash. I ordered a two eggs breakfast that ended up not coming with any eggs. They said they had substituted the eggs for potatoes. We wanted the eggs and the potatoes. The picture for the meal is super confusing. The picture makes it appear that it comes with eggs, a protein, potatoes, and a choice of bread. For our order we were given potatoes, English muffin, and bacon for $18, no eggs. The other order was a bacon burger, without cheese, with sweet potatoes fries. I asked for mayo and ketchup packets but I didn’t receive either. The burger was good, I could have used more condiments. The egg breakfast needed eggs and jam. I did call the restaurant to tell them about the issues. However, since we ordered through door dash nothing could be done. I would only eat here again if I was able to visit the restaurant in person. I loved the drawings on the containers that was a very cute touch.

The restaurant prides itself on serving locally-sourced seasonal cuisine and organic cocktails. Some of the popular menu items include Natural Fillet Mignon, Bison Short Rib, Alaskan Halibut, and the Chartuccerie Board for 2.
We got here kind of late so I was surprised at how much seating was available. The staff were very friendly, and helped us decide what to pick from the menu and didn’t steer us wrong on any suggestions. We chose to sit outside but the indoor seating seemed very nice. They have shades and everything for outside and offered to turn on the heat for us, being that it was at night. The food was amazing. My wife got some sort of salad and she loved it! I got the burger of course and it was excellent. That desert thing was a suggestion and was pretty good as well. This place is definitely expensive, and that’s saying something for 2nd street, but it was worth it. Take your girl here when you get that tax return!

The place is very nice and clean. The food is okay, nothing extraordinary and the portions are very small. There are no refills for sodas and juices, nor is there any complimentary bread. There was no line at the reception, there were several empty tables and the receptionist took more than 15 minutes to seat us at a table (I thought it was strange). The waiter seemed to be overwhelmed, having to serve 3 tables and putting on a show with the smoke from one of the dishes that took over the entire restaurant. I thought it was expensive and overrated.

Parking can be challenging. Street parking in a busy area. Paid to free street parking. There is upstairs seating. They take reservations. Not sure if they have gluten free options. Food is on the expensive side. Good service. Clean restroom. The desert tends to be on the very sweet side.

Long Beach Location...Last night, I chose this place for my last dinner in Cali because of the reviews. From the moment we walked in the male host was AMAZING! We chose to sit upstairs, the atmosphere was great. Our waiter Sagan was nice and informative. After going over what type of cocktail I like, he suggested the Matchi Colada....THE BEST THING I HAD AT THE RESTAURANT. Now to the food....I was not impressed and it didn't live up to the hype of the reviews. First dish: Mac & Shrooms, I thought this was going to be great because I love mushrooms...well the taste was bland and it had a watery texture (not creamy at all). Second: crab cakes, they were sweet and there was a lot of bread filling, it was NOT crab forward at all. The sauce under the crab cakes tasted sweet as well. Did not like the taste. The last of my order was the truffle fries that was fried in duck fat, the concept was on the menu looked good, but the fries were shoestring fries from out of a bag, not housemade. The fries were not hot and was fried very hard. The cheese on top was a little over powering. My cousin ordered the strawberry margaritas (she said it was good) and the fish and chips. She said the fish tasted okay and that the fish crust was not crunchy enough and kind of soggy. She chose to take the remainder home to put in air fryer just a little longer. Spent $119 (which is not bad, if the food was great/good) I only ate one crab cake, a couple of fries and a couple of spoons of the mac and shrooms. The guy taking our plates couldn't believe I didn't want a to go box. The atmosphere and cocktails was nice. The next time I'm in Long Beach, I may try their happy hour, but I'm good on the food.

Tonight, I treated myself to a solo dinner at Saint & Second, and I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the entire experience. I started with the crab cakes—they were light, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. For my entrée, I had the Caesar salad with chicken, which was hearty and filling. To finish, I indulged in the warm apple pie with ice cream, the perfect end to a fantastic meal. My server, Armando, was warm, friendly, and efficient, offering thoughtful and helpful recommendations from the menu. The restaurant’s sommelier and manager also went above and beyond, providing a first-class wine tasting experience that paired beautifully with my meal. I highly recommend visiting Saint & Second for any occasion. The ambiance is inviting, the food is outstanding, and the service is truly exceptional. Without a doubt, this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Long Beach. When you go, be sure to ask for Armando and Diana—you won’t be disappointed.

Saint and Second has become the newest hotspot in East Manhattan Beach, situated on the new area of the Manhattan Village Mall. For couples, the prime seats are the bar stools on the patio, offering a cozy view inside. Ian, our bartender, was fantastic, and Ray also provided excellent service. The menu boasts a wide variety—from delicious burgers to the finest cuts of beef available. With the kitchen staying open until midnight, it's a great alternative to The Kettle. Kristina and I had a wonderful time, and it’s now a regular addition to our weekly list of favorite dining spots.

Chillin' on the rooftop, sippin' yummy drinks and snacking on tasty tidbits! They got a fab drink menu and seafood galore for nibbles. Crab cakes? Crispy but pint-sized! Buzzing vibes but not too rowdy. Big thumbs up, and we’re totally coming back for round two!

Breakfast restaurant
The Coffee Cup Cafe is a bustling spot that has been a staple in the city since 1995. Known for its homestyle breakfast and lunch options, including vegetarian dishes, it's a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. The cafe is famous for its spicy chicken chile verde omelette, which has been a defining dish for decades. The mood of the kitchen determines the heat of the chile verde, creating an addicting combination with folded egg and melted cheese.
Great place for breakfast. I'm vacationing from out of town and I eat here every morning. The waitress, Cameron, is awesome too.

My partner and I were talking a stroll down our new neighborhood, and quite literally SMELLED the delicious food before seeing this place. It was almost cartoon-like the way we just followed our feet toward the warm buttery smell of a local diner. We probably got lucky since it was just two of us and spots were available at the counter right when we got in! We sat down, and were greeted right away with a smile and a fresh pot of coffee. Menu is extensive for such a cozy spot! Health is also highlighted in their menu..plenty of options to enhance the menu to your needs. My partner got the turkey omelette sub egg whites, and I got the French toast combo w/ a side of potatoes (10/10). The atmosphere is amazing, and we love businesses that highlight artists as well (you can scan under some of the art displayed to learn more). Service is friendly and efficient. When you walk-in, you get a sense that you’ve been there before. And that’s a very comforting feeling for a first timer (:

Ate here on a Friday morning. Had banana nut pancakes, a side of bacon and earl grey tea. Other patron had french toast with substitute links. Service was friendly. Cute place. Food was just OK to us. That's butter not whip cream on top of the bananas. $38 for decent portions.

Nice friendly place with good service. They sever vanilla coffee regularly. ☕️ had the ABC omelet and it was good. Parking is difficult.

Long overdue review here. Been coming as a local for about 5 years and this spot NEVER disappoints. The food is always full of flavor from burgers, to chorizo tacos, to the pancakes and scrambles. The fries have a great texture and the butter...yes the butter on the pancakes kicks it up a notch or 2. Even their salsas are delish. BUT what's really amazing is the staff! Everyone is so nice and kind. It really feels like a local family owned spot in a small town. And the staff seem to love working their as I have seen the same faces for years...there's even dishes named after a few. I would recommend this as the best breakfast / lunch cafe in Long Beach.

Food is portioned. I've had a heftier plate elsewhere. The food is okay. The pancakes are okay, not the fluffiest. They're charging .50 per egg based on the plate you've ordered so for example, I ordered the French Toast combo & it comes with 2 eggs & 2 Sausages or bacon. They charged an extra $1. They say it's due to the increasing price of eggs. Went when it was busy, was sat right away, but only got a refill on my coffee once-which was when I was already done with my food. Waiter passed by us so many times, but never checked in on us until we were done with our food. I'd say go spend $60 for two elsewhere, where the service is a tad better & food is much tastier-but that's just me 🤷‍♀️ Oh! They have 3 restrooms, which is a plus for when it gets packed

Small cafe in the area that is cash only and old school. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and it’s always a good standard breakfast place. The food is solid and has great prices. The thrills and tricks of brunch spots can always be fun, but if you are looking for a solid breakfast place and have some cash on you then you’re in luck. My recommendation is the pancake plate- sometimes chocolate chip pancakes are needed for adulting.

I love having Breakfast or Lunch at Coffee Cup on my days off. I've ordered Omelets, sandwiches, pancakes etc and haven't been disappointed. If you want to try something different, try the cream cheese french toast, you don't be disappointed. The coffee is delicious I can honestly say the best in Long Beach. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable environment.

We arrived on a Saturday morning at 10:30 and had to wait almost an hour on the outside tables for our party of three. But it was totally worth it! The coffee cake was amazing, and all the meals we ordered were huge and delicious!

First time here pancakes were delicious. Chicken pot pie great flavor, the only thing is the wait could be upsetting we waited to be sitting for almost 1 hour. Ammatoli is a refined restaurant in Long Beach, known for its expertise in Mediterranean cuisine, particularly seafood dishes and baklava. Chef Dima Habibeh's culinary skills have earned the restaurant recognition as one of the best in the region. Her dedication to offering the finest Levantine flavors from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, and Palestine shines through in every dish. Fantastic!! So fresh and flavorful! I would dare say spectacular. This was such a wonderful experience and our server was great. We ordered a wide variety of food and I can say without a doubt it was excellent... all of it. The meat pie and cheese pie were amazing! Highly recommend Ammatoli and I would give it a 10 stars if I could. I can’t wait to come back to visit. The lemonade iced tea was SO good! Now I see why my daughter and son in law go at least once a week.

First off, Ammatoli was recommended to me by a friend and let me tell you absolutely nothing disappointed me. Our server, Mason was patient and pointed us to his favorites which are now MY favorites! (I can take home jugs of the Mint Lemonade) The atmosphere was so relaxing and yes you can take pictures of literally everything because the owners seriously created this place and menu with intention. You are guaranteed a delicious/high quality meal. If you get a chance, I say make a reservation because they do get booked and please ask for Mason he truly is the best!

I had dinner for a friend's birthday. We ordered the three way mezza (grape leaves, spicy hummus, falafel), chicken schwarma, Palestinian msakham, pita, spinach fatayer and cheese fatayer. The three appepetizers were pretty good. Grape leaves full of flavor. Spicy hummus had a touch of heat, not too much and the falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The two pastries we had (fatayer) - the cheese was delicious. It was a nice savory, decadent pastry. Almost like a dense cake. The spinach was had a crispy flaky outer layer and I don't think there was too much filling, which was slightly disappointing. The two main dishes we shared, one was pretty good and the other, just okay. The schwarma was nothing to write home about. It felt like it lacked a little flavor but it could be that the appetizers were highly flavorful, this one fell flat for me. The Palestinian msakham was a recommendation from our server. The chicken was served on top of two flat breads smothered in onions and spices. The chicken itself was pretty good, juicy and flavorful. Pairing it with the flatbread it came with along with the yogurt dip and garlic sauce, was almost delicious. We also had dessert, Osmelieh ice cream. The is cream was tasty and paired with a flakey crust. It had some bits of dates in it which gave it some additional texture. Overall, the food was good. The service was okay. I felt I was personally ignored when she took everyone's drink order and didn't ask me for mine. She brought back everyone's drink and it wasn't only until I said something was when she took. My drink order. It was a bit odd but maybe she was distracted. One of my friends orders the yogurt drink, and given how everything was thoughtfully presented, this drink came out in it's original package. Which is fine, just a little odd since everything else was more less presented nicely. Why 3 stars them? We were reminded of the 90 min dining time what felt like 50x. We were sent several reminders about this before dining in. We were reminded upon checking in. We were reminded drying our meal. And then reminded when we paid our tab. Mind you, we were there within the 90 min time frame. I felt like all those reminders were overkill and kind of ruined the celebration. I get it. They want to get customers in and out so get in more customers. But for a celebration, maybe take it down a notch or two on the reminders.

Let’s start with the amazing name. Ammatouli. Amman is a city of 7 hills, (Amma), and touli in Latin means hills. Very creative name for a very creative restaurant with amazing food. Of course we had to order the hummus and Fattoush salad. Both were amazing. I highly recommend you ask them to give you the dakka for the hummus. We also ordered the meat kibbe too. They have an all star menu with appetizers, salads, main courses, and very creative desserts. My family and I ordered a lot of food so I can comfortably elaborate on the Mousakka, the kebabs, and the Chilean Sea Bass. The Chilean Sea Bass was definitely the clear winner. Probably the best I have ever had by far. Ever! So light and the rice that comes with it was delicious. The kebabs were all good. The Ribeye, lamb, kufta, and chicken. All good. Lastly the Mousakka was amazing too! Definitely worth getting a Levantine original version. We almost ordered the Palestinian Mosakkhan too. That looked really good. Last but not least is their excellent dessert menu. We tried Tata’s carrot cake. (Tata means grandmother). It was awesome. I came close to ordering “Date with a cake”. That is a very popular one. All in all I highly recommend this amazing restaurant!

The restaurant prides itself on being easily accessible, clean, and inclusive for all guests. Their menu boasts high-quality ingredients with many items made in-house, including their bread and sauces. First time at Let’s Yolk About It DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Food was incredible, service impeccable and vibes top notch. We ate outside, great spot for people watching. Our server, Juliet, was friendly, funny and recommended the best breakfast burrito!! We hope to sit in her section again!

Went for brunch during the middle of the week. Ordered the pancakes with a side of sausage as well as their supreme omelette. Both dishes were made well and I especially enjoyed the seasonal compote on the pancakes. However, the pancakes were slightly chewy. As for the omelette, I found it to be very flavorful.

I got the Huevos Rancheros ($17) with added carne asada (+$7). It was really good. The corn tortilla is soaked with the sauce. Flavor was perfect. Our waiter said it is the most popular dish. Fried French Toast ($16) + Billionaire Bacon (+$5). Waiter said it was also good. I liked the fresh blueberry jam on top of the French toast, but I felt that the jam wasn’t enough. The jam was what made the French Toast. It was just drizzled down the middle of the toast. The toast was ok. A bit too oily for me. The Billionaire Bacon was added cuz of the server saying it is really good. When we got it. we were all disappointed. We thought it would be a thicker sliced bacon for $5!!! The flavor was really good though. It was coated with honey or syrup and it had some seasoning on it. Parking: street parking. There is metered parking and if you go in towards the residential streets, it’s free to park. I think there’s just street sweeping on a certain day. However, it does get packed. There is a restroom for both genders. Weekends do get packed so the wait might be awhile.

We arrived right when they opened and were the first customers of the day. Since they were just getting set up, it took a little longer for the food to come out and the waitress took forever to take our order. The food and lattes were absolutely delicious! It was super crowded when we left so we got lucky coming in right when they opened. I’d definitely come back whenever I’m spending the day in Seal Beach. (Took a star off because of service)

Another Long Beach gem! My son and I were looking for a brunch place that wasn’t your run-of-the-mill greasy spoon on a Sunday. Luckily, this restaurant/bar met our expectations, and then some! The staff was very welcoming and our server was easy to talk to and offered great suggestions. Their huevos rancheros were delicious and the salsa has spicy enough to bring that kick but it wasn’t too spicy to the point where it overwhelmed the overall taste of the meal. My son gave a rare thumbs up for his crab benedict, which is noteworthy since he’s never a fan of tomatoes; regardless, he definitely enjoyed the sweeter-tasting version in his benedict! He also gave high praise for the potatoes, which were spiced and toasted just right. The only complaint I had was the longer than usual wait for our food, but given the amount of customers they had, I can see how the kitchen can fall behind. Regardless, our server came by to keep us updated and made sure our water was refilled.

Decent Food, But Service Needs Improvement We dined here recently, and while the food was pretty good, the overall experience left something to be desired. The escargots were absolutely delicious—definitely the highlight of our meal. The crab cake with poached eggs, however, had to be remade because the eggs were hard-boiled instead of properly poached Benedict-style. I also ordered a latte, which in the menu photo looked beautifully presented with latte art. What I received, however, was just a plain cup of coffee with no design at all—not a huge deal, but a bit disappointing given the expectation. The biggest issue was the service. We tried to order extra bread but couldn’t get our server’s attention for at least 10 minutes, despite waving multiple times. When we finally managed to order, it took another 10 minutes for the bread to arrive—and they brought us wheat bread instead of white, without any communication that white bread wasn’t available. They simply served the wheat bread without explanation, leaving us with no choice. To top it off, they brought us the receipt for the extra bread before actually bringing it to the table, and when it finally arrived, it was the wrong kind. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the lack of attention to detail, slow service, and poor communication made the experience frustrating. Would I come back? Maybe, but I’d hope for better service next time!

I really enjoyed the savory buckwheat creeps (Marocaine). The sauce was fantastic. However, I was disappointed with the omelette. The egg was difficult to eat, and the meat wasn’t any better. The 4 stars is definitely for that delicious crepe. I do recommend people trying this place as it has a cute atmosphere.

This place was so good that I had to come and review! We went around 11AM. We ordered two crepes and tried their almond affogato. It was heavenly good, just the right balance of espresso and ice cream. We also got some hot chocolate. The place is situated on the corner, and has such a French vibe. Cute outdoorsy setting, and the servers were all so polite and good. On a side note: I never have chicken sausage anywhere, I have never liked it's taste. But today I just dont know why I gave it a chance, and ordered their Paysen crepe. IT WAS DELICIOUS. The chicken sausage was heavenly and so so soft, not at all chewy. And best part is, they have not overpriced their dishes. Affordable standard rates as they should be.

Blackbird Cafe Inc is a cozy and well-lit venue that has been serving breakfast and lunch since 2011. Located in Long Beach's historical California Heights, this popular diner offers a diverse menu featuring Mexican-inspired dishes such as huevos rancheros, migas, and the hearty Juan Wayne. The cafe provides a tranquil atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals or get some work done while sipping on hot beverages.
I visited this location on a Saturday around noon. I was put on the waiting list to sit inside and waited approximately 10 min which isn’t bad. While I waited I asked to see the menu so I can take advantage of the time. The menu is very extensive but not overwhelming. I was able to read the whole thing and decide what I wanted . Even decided what I would get on my next visit! Our waiter Annette was amazing! She was very helpful and very funny! Parking isn’t easy to find since it’s around a residential area but you will find parking a few blocks away.

Took my roommate and I far too long to try Blackbird Cafe and we’re glad we finally did. The staff were fantastic to us and the food was beyond what we expected. I got the Huevos Rancheros and my roommate got the Poutine tots, both were off the scale. Street parking only but that isn’t much of an issue in cal heights. The wait was about 30ish minutes for 2 people during a Sunday morning rush, but they take down your number so we passed the time at the antique shop across the street. My girl wanted to try this place and to tell u the truth the only thing I really liked was there latte...had an omelette and the blueberry cream pancakes...here were my issues, the bacon in my omelette tasted oily and old, my egg was burnt and over all didn't taste all that good, my 17 dollar pancakes were kid size and to trick u on the size they give them to u on a smaller plate which is a first for me (never seen that B4) unfortunately this place didn't do it for me or my girl our waitress was super cool and very personal...

I would say this is one of the very few places that was a positive and absolute pleasure going to. Environment, clean, cool, comfortable setting. Staff, courteous, attention to detail, smiles, warmth. Food, salt balanced out, eggs perfectly cooked, tostada fried perfectly to sustain the beans n sauce. Tatter tots were a little over cooked but everything balances out. What stood out to me was how neat and beautifully my sons fruit cup was presented. Price, after the great experience it was reasonably priced for the experience, i might say i event got lucky. Love this place. Strongly recommended it, try the “Juan wayne”

Came here with some family from out of town for the first time. It's a lovely location. Cozy inside. The 5 of us were seated within 2 minutes. There was abit of a rush once we arrived and so our food took a minute to get to us ... however the wait was worth it. The brownie pancakes were Amazing!!. Also get the tater tots you won't be disappointed

MeeMa's is a charming spot with a cozy atmosphere that feels like having breakfast at your grandma's house. The menu offers delicious options, with the Brisket and Gravy dish being highly recommended. The service is friendly and quick, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The vintage props and light fixtures contribute to the nostalgic vibe of the place. Customers have praised the attentive staff, particularly mentioning servers like Miguel who provided excellent service.
I love the home feel of this place, definitely coming back! The service was great our waitress Taylor was a sweet heart and even the busier made sure our water never ran out. The old school aesthetic made me feel like I was at grandma’s house. The food was delicious. We ordered the steak & eggs and the briskets & gravy and it did not disappoint. And I got a guava mimosa that was great too. All around great brunch and breakfast spot. The only thing is there was a bit of a wait but we came on a Sunday afternoon.

First time there and it's too bad because I don't normally eat breakfast out. The staff was friendly and helpful. However I didn't care for the waffles, they were tough and I couldn't cut it with my knife. It reminded me of batter out of the box, even though they said everything was made from scratch. The chicken was cooked right but it had no flavor it was missing salt or seasonings. Overall I won't be returning, too many other places to visit.

1st time here, usually pick a new spot with our wonderful friends. They suggested we go here thankfully! Wow, this was incredible edibles foshooooo. Every bite was a bite better than the last one......ordered churro French toast, chicken and biscuits n gravy plus eggs, bacon n potatoes. So impressive not sure how to describe it other than I was beyond impressed. Our friends ordered the tacos and chicken n biscuits with gravy. The entire meals was what I will describe one last time as thankful we went here is the best way to describe the meal......Servers were exceptional and super friendly ! Anyways do yourself a favor if your considering this spot to eat at, just do it ! See you again MeeMa's, see you soon ! Also I almost never take photos and post so I apologize for photos being taken after we started but I realized it was too amazing to not take photos of the meal for a posting and write a review. I never take photos, so stokked I did

Food is exceptional, they know what they’re doing here. The chilaquilas were on point. It’s so hard to find good chilaquiles. Everything made from scratch the sauces all made from real chilis, top quality ingredients , real organic eggs, even the jam for the toast is phenomenal. You can tell ownership cares about their customers. I strongly recommend you won’t be disappointed.

I was very hungover and ready to collapse at any given moment but I ordered the bacon avocado omelet with tater tots and it completely revived me. I rose from the dead with all the delicious flavors and throughout the day, I kept burping the yummy flavors. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Might have to wait for a table if it's hella busy

Fuego Restaurant & Bar is a vibrant spot located in the Hotel Maya, offering panoramic water views and serving Latin-style seafood and cocktails. The restaurant also participates in events such as food festivals, offering a variety of delectable dishes for purchase. Additionally, Fuego hosts unique experiences like brunch with flying hawk demonstrations to educate patrons about animals associated with Mayan deities.
The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. Sitting outside was pleasant even at night due to the heaters. Live music was also delightful very relaxing not too loud which is perfect for conversation. The view is beautiful . This is located inside the Hotel Maya. Walking distance from Queen Mary and hotel Residence Inn.

Had a great time here. Our waiter was super nice and friendly, really made us feel welcomed and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. The food was also really good. Overall, a really good experience!

This was a welcome respite on our walk from the Queen Mary to our Residence Inn hotel. They were welcoming, the service was excellent by the whole staff. I think there were about eight people who took care of us but Alfonso was our main waiter. We were dressed casually but no issues there. We were seated outside right near the big fireplace and had fantastic views of the Queen Mary and Long Beach harbor. The burger was a little over cooked for medium but the toppings were creative and delicious and we loved the fries. We had the watermelon margarita and house margarita, both were tasty but the Modelo was our favorite. Just a fantastic experience overall, highly recommend.

It was a semi-cloudy Wednesday around 3pm. Only 2 tables sat and 3 servers and bartender. We wanted to sit outside and they wouldn’t let us because “it could rain any minute”. We said we can order at the bar and accept the risk for rain. We were just ordering drinks and maybe an appetiser. We were told that its wet and a hazard to servers. As you can see in the photos, it wasnt wet. Once the server stopped listing every excuse, we took a table inside. We ordered one appetiser and were given two and their mistake wasnt even comped off our bill. Food and drink were so overpriced for the lack of experience we received. 10 mins into our experience, TWO GUYS GOT BEERS AND WENT AND SAT OUTSIDE. Photo attached. Sun was shining. We werent offered to move outside. We were celebrating a birthday too. For someone who has worked many years in hospitality as a supervisor and server, it was one of the worst experiences ive ever encountered. We werent greeted when we arrived or thanked when we left. To top it off, for two people, 3 drinks and 2 appetisers (one we didnt order) we had to pay 15% service charge on our bill! The staff was not entitled to receive a tip under any circumstances. Never going back, never recommending.
Cam — Google review
Came for Mother’s Day breakfast and what a beautiful view! Excited to have sat close to the water and see the Queen Mary. Unfortunately service and food were a bit lacking. We arrived at 9am for our reservation and were promptly seated. However after ordering waited almost 50 minutes before food came out. Our Guac + Salsa came out after the food and was a bit disappointing for the price. We got the eggs Benedict, which came with the yolks set and bread soggy. My eggs came well cooked after asking for medium over. On top of that, I think the 20% added gratuity was a bit high for a party of two.

Fuego Restaurant & Bar has a babal location right by the ocean with a stunning view and chill seaside vibe. Jetskiing nearby made the day even more fun! If you’re visiting Los Angeles, taking a short trip to Long Beach for this experience is totally worth it!

Excellent location and views near the Queen Mary. The burger was exactly what I needed after a fun day on the water. Server was very accommodating and the pace was very chill and not rushed. Would totally go back.

Getting here is quite hard so pay attention to the map for turns and direction. Parking is not free but you get two hours free. Make sure you get it stamp at the restaurant. We stayed longer then expected paid 5$ Food was really good I got the filet mignon was $55. My dad got the short rib I believe tacos around $35. My sister and my mom got the salmon dish. It was $35 and we also got Brussels sprouts. were really really good. (I love them so highly recommended if you do too). The dessert they had was really good. Was celebrating my mom birthday and all of our birthday for sept. Since. We haven’t seen each other for a long time. The server was nice but we told her it was all of your birthday but she didn’t believe us 🥹 The view was amazing and beautiful. Highly recommend taking your family here or work dinner. The Omelette Inn serves breakfast and lunch items in a nautically themed setting with a picturesque patio. The perfect breakfast here is, of course, an omelet.
After reading the reviews on this place, I was eager to try it. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla with turkey sausage and the banana nut pancake annnnnd it was good!!! This place will not disappoint you if you are looking for a great breakfast spot. The spiced cider was also delicious.
Edwanna A — Google review
The place is good, but $44 for my 4y/o and I to eat what you see with a coffee and cup of milk is atrocious. I understand the costs of items are going up. Guess it’s just being in California, ok enough of that. Our waitress was fantastic and my son and I had a good time, so despite my opinion the food and service was good.
John S — Google review
This is for sure the best breakfast place in the area. The omelettes are so good and the bannana but pancakes are over the top delicious. I came back here 2 days in a row and got the hobo omelette and banana nut pancake both times. It's also reasonably priced. I wouldn't even go anywhere else. This is the place. Super good food, great service, and nice people. I'm so glad I didn't go anywhere else! Make sure you come here at least once!

The service was excellent and very friendly but it smelled like cigarettes inside. The food looks good but the biscuits tasted only of flour and the sandwich we got - we didn't care for the way it tasted or the mayo on it. I think they just need better ingredients. Probably won't come back sorry.

If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast spot with good food that’s fresh with rich flavors, you need to check out Omelette Inn. I ordered the “#3 HOBO” omelette with potatoes and sourdough toast. It was delicious, which is clearly evidenced by the clean plate (see the last photo). My wife had the “#2 Scrambler” with a few add-ins and hash browns. She also went with the sourdough toast. Everything was very good, although I recommend selecting the potatoes over the hash browns. Our server, Mari, suggested the potatoes and I’m glad I took her advice. Those alone are worth a return trip. Coffee was also fresh and strong 💪 ☕️. Service was top notch and Mari was fantastic. We’ll definitely be back!

I hadn't been here since before they relocated. The service itself was obligatory at best with only one check in to see how I was doing. I ordered the Denver Omelette with home fries and wheat toast. The Omelet was really good but I wish I had opted for my first choice of hash browns instead of being swayed by the reviews on how good the home fries were. They lacked flavor and were hard (like if they had been left out for a while) Lastly, giving you your bill before you receive your order was different. What if I wanted to order something else. Just strange to me.

Brunch restaurant
Egg Heaven Cafe is a popular coffee shop that has been around since 1970, housed in a building with a rich history. The cafe offers an extensive breakfast menu and also serves burgers and sandwiches for lunch. Known for its charming retro vibe, the cafe features an old plastic sign and a wood-trimmed glass corner location. It is cash-only and boasts a long breakfast counter adorned with an artistic collage.
Drove down from West LA specifically for this little neighborhood diner and I am so happy that I did so. The food was honestly terrific and our server was very sweet. It’s more of a local country diner than a retro diner but you can tell they cater to the locals, in a good way. It’s pretty small on the inside and remolded since some of the pics in the reviews so there is limited table options but service is very fast so I would guess they turn quickly. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot but free street parking in the neighborhood is easy to find. Also the pricing is so fair, our bill came out to be way less than we expected so it truly is a great spot to visit. For my breakfast I chose one of the specials for the day which was the Chicken Chile Verde Omelette and I added steak as well for $3.50 extra. What a deal! The chile on top was delicious and so were both proteins. The portion size was also quite large and the side of hash browns were perfectly crispy. I was honestly really impressed and being that I’m not the biggest omelette fan to begin with, this one made me rethink that because I am already craving this dish again so probably going to have to drive down from Santa Monica again sometime soon and I would suggest to anyone else in the LB area or close to give Egg Heaven a try.

A cute little cafe in Long Beach that serves incredible chilaquiles! I got the chilaquiles (would highly recommend especially with red salsa) and the super browns, and I would definitely reorder both of them! The super browns are just heavenly with a bunch of cheese, sour cream, and mushrooms. The service was awesome and really attentive too.

They are BACK! Just last week we had given another shot and it was a direct bullseye home! With the return of the original owner and crew, feels like returning home after a long trip with same great flavors we have been waiting for. Back with original menus, original taste and new takes on specials and salsas we couldn’t be happier! Nothing but love, good vibes and great food comes from this Cafe! If your new, visiting or long time local to LB this a definite spot to try out! Can’t go wrong! Long time customer of this establishment since 8 or 9 years of age or even sooner and have been regulars every week since I could remember with my grandparent. It always felt like HOME! I was super upset when they had to change owners and crew due to covid and had been changing new management since. The wife and I had tried eating here during the movement, but I was never the same. But now you better believe we will be there every week. Hopefully more than once a week! Thank you Margarita and Gabe for aways make sure we are well taken care of and to the crew behind the scenes for bringing the flavors we have been longing for! Welcome back Egg Heaven Cafe we missed you!

This is one of the better breakfast places in Long Beach. Clean with a old time diner ambiance. Attentive service made it even better. The classics executed well! Today's dish was Eggs Benedict, home style potatoes, side of bacon, and a really good cup of coffee. The Benedict was perfect. The potatoes had the perfect amount of soft, crisp, and browning. The bacon quality and preparation are great! The little side of fruit made it a perfect experience. I'll definitely be back!

A local legend - Egg Heaven has been part of the famous LB breakfast scene since... 1969? After the pandemic I was gutted that they closed up. Luckily they decided to open back up recently and they seem to be doing great business again. I chatted with the waitress and according to her, "The owner wanted to close the restaurant and sell it due to the pandemic. But myself and the main chef wanted to keep it going - so we convinced the owner to tentatively open back up and see if business would come back." And it certainly has come back. It's always got a line out the door on the weekends and plenty of customers inside during the week too.

Read about them in an article. If you like eggs, they have various dishes cooked fresh to order. Their service is superb with everyone serving you with a smile and making you feel at home. 5 stars for that. My dish was mid but that was the fiesta scrambled eggs but the French toast with berries and whipped cream was great. I should have gotten the farmers scrambled eggs. Coffee was superb.

Foodies will appreciate the unique and delicious menu selection, especially the specialty pancakes such as the cinnamon roll pancake. It's also recommended as a date spot in LA due to its variety of breakfast options perfect for sharing.
My first time going, there was a wait but not too long. The atmosphere inside is very welcoming and giving homey vibes. The food was delicious. I ordered a veggie omelette with home style potatoes, it was cooked perfectly the only thing I would say is that there was no salt in the egg but very minor and quick fix with salt. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. They do an awesome birthday celebration if anyone in your party is celebrating a birthday. Definitely returning soon

Review of Pan Breakfast Restaurant I had high hopes for Pan Breakfast Restaurant, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. First, the hostess was downright terrible disorganized, inattentive, and seemingly uninterested in properly managing the seating. Despite open tables, the wait time was unnecessarily long, and there was no clear effort to maximize seating efficiency. Guests who arrived after us were seated first, while those who had been waiting were left standing around with no explanation. Once seated, things didn’t improve much. The portions were shockingly small for the price. A simple breakfast plate that should have been filling felt more like a sampler, and for what they charge, it’s simply not worth it. Portion control seemed inconsistent, with some plates looking more complete than others, adding to the frustration. Service was mediocre at best our server was neither friendly nor particularly attentive. Drinks went unfilled for long periods, and getting basic requests met felt like an afterthought. Overall, this is one of those places I can confidently say: been there, done that. Definitely not worth a return visit.

I've been wanting to try the food at this location for months, but it's too been crowded in the past. I decided to treat myself for my birthday. A friend recommended the Shrimp & Grits. She was right. It is delicious. The portion is generous. I ordered the lemonade, and I love lemonade. So, it was disappointing that for $3.89, it was a cup of Minute Maid. The customer service may need a little improvement. My server took a while to take my order after I was seated. I was a bit frustrated with the wait. It was not busy either. Once I ordered, my food came out hot and fresh. My server never came back to see if I needed anything. I almost walked to the counter where all the employees gathered to ask for the check and a to go container. Thanks to the nice lady in blue who came over to bring the check and a to go container. You can tell she's a customer service pro.

I like this place for their breakfast menu. The specialty pancakes are my favorite. Took a friend of mine here for the first time and he really enjoyed it. We ordered the Lumber Jack special with specialty pancakes. I got the raspberry and he got the tiramisu pancakes. Both were really tasty. The place is usually packed on the weekend but tonight it was really quite. Made for some really nice photos of the place. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. Our server Susana was awesome and tolerated two chatty old men. She is very knowledgeable of all the dishes and really customer oriented and patient, which we really appreciated. If your looking for a Denny's/IHop/Norms alternative this is a great place to try.

Always a big fan of The Pan - have been going since the Gardena one opened. This newer location in Long Beach is closer to my work. I appreciated the wedge salad and the mozzarella sticks were so cheesy!!! In particular, my server Suzy was friendly, pleasant, and checked on us frequently.

From the moment you walk into The Pan, you’re warmly greeted and seated within minutes. The service is unbelievably quick — I placed my order, and the food came out at almost McDonald’s speed, which is rare for a sit-down restaurant. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting. While I was slightly disappointed with the crab benedict, as the crab patty could have been cooked better, the French toast was absolutely perfect — fluffy, flavorful, and truly unbeatable. And speaking of unbeatable, their chai latte is a must-try. The spice blend is spot on, and that cold foam topping on the iced version is the ultimate finishing touch — creamy, smooth, and dessert-worthy. Overall, everything from the greeting to the service to the food was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back soon for another round of French toast and that unforgettable chai latte.

Place has a nice vibe, Christmas decor is cute, my coffee was delicious I ordered a French toast latte. Their idea of ordering first and then you looking for your own table is confusing and messy more If is a Sunday morning brunch. In case you want to order something else you have to search for a server because nobody came to ask us if we wanted to order something else even when we took menus to our table and were looking around for service. My breakfast sandwich was not very tasty. Overall is a good brunch place.

My guy and I discovered this spot after an afternoon at Dog Beach. What a great find. We started with cold Lavender coffee with ice cubes of dark coffee that took the taste over the top! Bravo… We decided to share the Farmer Salad with chicken and were overwhelmed at the deliciousness of it all. Then, they shared the Brazilian cheese bread to welcome us on our first (but definitely not our last visit) OMG! What a culinary organism! I highly recommend this outdoor bistro. Came here upon my host's recommendation & the fact that I am an Ubuntu Linux user 💻 (you may be familiar if you work in software 😂 ... I can't wait to tell my coworkers I went to an Ubuntu Cafe). Jokes aside, I don't have any additive commentary because all the 5 star reviews you see here hit the nail on the head already. The service was wildly good. We were offered free Brazilian cheese bread from our gracious host... our servers stopped by frequently to check on us and clear our tables. We truly felt welcomed!! Breakfast sandwich was a tad mediocre (it was good, just nothing special), but the bacon was super crispy and flavorful. Omelet was out of this world, very delicate, well-seasoned, and masterfully put together. The indoor/outdoor patio is also beautiful - we enjoyed the balance between having some sunshine/shade/ocean breeze.

I always take people here. Great atmosphere, solid food and excellent service. It's casual while feeling special still. Kid friendly. Dog friendly. I've been here probably 6-7 times now. Loved every dish I've tried especially the quiche and breakfast sandwich. Only one I did not love was the chilaquiles.. I should've added the protein on top bc otherwise its a giant bowl of chips with 1 fried egg and a few slices of avocado. I'm sure they would've exchanged my dish had I asked so I won't remove any stars. Really great place.

The Nest: A Brunch Joint is a modern and casual restaurant located in Bellflower, offering a Southern-style breakfast and brunch experience. The menu features a variety of Southern-influenced specialties such as shrimp and grits, breakfast poutine, deep-fried biscuits and gravy, as well as lighter options like the veggie scramble. OMG!!!! This place is EVERYTHING!!! The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere!! The he music is on point!!! The vibe is a whole vibe!!! Family owned and operated The Nest is a must when in the area… let’s be honest it’s worth the drive. Now let’s be clear pack ur patience and don’t show up hangry because you can’t rush this type of perfection. The attention to detail and the effort in the service is phenomenal! I had the bacon waffle and crispy potatoes and the og flight!!! I had to stop myself because my own one fat girl knew she was full but my mouth wanted more!!! Service was great and was able to be seated within 10 minutes of arrival. Parking was easy to find with a lot located directly behind the restaurant that was relatively inexpensive. Ordered their shrimp & grits dish with some orange juice; dish was fresh and extremely flavorful and the orange juice had clearly been fresh pressed as it tasted significantly better than your average, out the bottle orange juice. Amazing spot; would highly recommend!

Food that actually makes you do a happy dance. It’s fresh, colorful and bursting (and I do mean bursting) with diverse flavors and the textures were impeccable — like really, HOW did you get your sweet potatoes like that!!? The huge flakes of sea salt were a great topping. It’s not often I eat each bite of my meal and literally dance in my seat. Yum, yum and YUM. The coffee is perfectly intense and its flavor palette so clear and vibrant. Service was friendly and fast. They didn’t pay me for this review lol and I normally never leave 5 stars… but this little unexpected place was the absolute best breakfast experience to date. Love ❤️

Olive & Rose is a new neo-bistro set to open in 2024, offering a fusion of classic French techniques and Californian flavors. It aims to provide a familiar yet modern dining experience, reflecting the culmination of the owner's career. Guests have praised the overall dining experience, highlighting dishes like amberjack crudo with cucumber and grape as particularly refreshing. The staff is known for being attentive and friendly, while the cozy ambiance adds to the relaxing decor.
Such an amazing experience, I went two nights in a row! A reservation is definitely recommended, as this unique spot is small but the vibe is so lovely. Featuring such great farm to table ingredients and an experience, this was truly one of the best meals and wine selections I've ever had. Olive and Rose is definitely an amazing spot, highly suggested, and recommended! Staff work to learn your tastes and preferences, and we're so friendly and personal. It's not many that learn your name and wine preferences, offering what they remember the next night. Cannot wait to be back!

A perfect fine dining experience in Long Beach. Everything from the drinks and food, to the presentation and service, was immaculate. It is a small mid-century modern dining room in the former Century City Motel on 3rd Street in Long Beach, close to public parking. We enjoyed all the tastings, from the Crudo to the octopus to the bread with cultured butter, and the bass was also excellent. Another highlight was the Apple Tarte Tarin, which was divine with the Carmel and whipped cream. All the sauces and food tasted fresh and well-made. The prices are comparable to other date night and fine dining restaurants, so while high are expected and not out of the ordinary. There is also an outdoor seating area in the interior next to the pool, which is where the bathroom is (even the bathroom was kept very clean and we were pleased to see was also stocked with tampons). We would definitely go back and try some of the cocktails and mussels.

Incredible dining experience at the Olive and Rose for dinner. We walked in to a beautiful dining room and a warm greeting from the hostess. The atmosphere was so cute and I just want my home to be decorated the exact same. The real treat was the food, oh my goodness - the appetizers were delicious and incredibly fresh. For our entrees, we each got the chicken. It was seriously the best chicken I have ever had in my life. With the freshly foraged mushrooms and just with the chicken, I was honestly quite sad that it was over when my plate was cleaned. One person at our table said if it was appropriate to lick the plate clean, they would. To finish with dessert, the mint ice cream is so fresh - best mint ice cream I’ve ever had. Also, pair the food with a delicious “pretty and basic” cocktail, you are set for a perfect evening. Overall, couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. I wish I could rate them 10/5. They deserve it and I hope everyone gets to experience Olive and Rose!

Great new spot in Long Beach! Major MCM vibes, super cute vibe. Got last minute reservation, sat at the bar and it was really fun to watch the cooks. The fries were insane - the steak too but these fries... michelin star style fries. Great place to support and promote new local restaurants! They also do bagels in the AM, I haven't had them yet but plan on stopping by soon.

Lunch review. High quality food with attractive plating and good service. Creative, original choices on the menu. Lunch pricing very reasonable for the product quality. Refined casual ambiance, be aware it’s indoor but temperature will reflect whatever it is outside due to limited insulation and climate control.

This is an exceptional restaurant. I had a pasta with corn in the sauce and it was incredible. The texture was phenomenal and the kernels were crispy and fresh. We also had some of the drinks and they were all great. This restaurant also sits in a stylish boutique hotel. Highly recommend!

Exceptional food that reminds me of an elevated French cuisine. We went quiet after the first bite because everything we had was excellent. The ambiance was sweet, somehow reminiscent of Palm spring with the pool in the background. The service made us feel taken care of and was very helpful. I truly cannot wait to come back and try their other meals. The octopus was crispy and melted in our mouth. The combination of flavour of the porc chop with the fenel and peach was surprisingly mind blowing and the steak frites was a true classic. Marvelous.

Soul food restaurant
Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n Waffles is a popular local soul food chain with a casual atmosphere. Despite its unassuming appearance, the restaurant offers a delightful experience with the sweet sounds of jazz and an array of chicken and waffle combinations, from omelets to sandwiches. While it originated in Long Beach, there are multiple locations to enjoy this unique pairing of savory fried chicken and sweet maple syrup.
Delicious I've never eaten a waffle that left me speechless.... this waffle did, i think i even closed my eyes it was so good. I thought after the bite of waffle the syrup would take away from it... it didn't!!! It soaked up all the buttery syrup goodness & it just took it to the next level. The fried chicken was like my great grandma's. I can say it confidently with no offense to my Grandma Great because hers was the best... she would enjoy this fried chicken leg just as much as I did & that is saying something. The black coffee complimented all that waffle. Mmmmmmm My baby got the mac & she loved it. I ate the rest cause I loved it. We ordered a chilli & a cornbread too it was like home in a bowl. The cornbread was gorgeous. I need to go back & try the collard greens i hear they are lovely. Ambiance was longbeach staple with a feel of a celebrity could walk in the door at any minute because there is no food like this anywhere other than Roscos Chicken & Waffles. Thank you to the server, made sure everything was delicious & as it should be. Thank you to the kitchen staff everything was stellar, so so good. The place is so good it makes you want to buy a t-shirt or hat a souvenir. Thank you Roscos Longbeach!!!! 💛

The LBC location is the one you want to fool with. Greeted by almost everyone working there. Establishment clean and cool. Service fast and friendly. The food. OMG. I got the chicken, yams, greens and cornbread. My partner got the wings and waffles. I am not a big waffles person but whatever they're putting in that batter is ahhhmazing. The chicken seasoned to perfection. I don't eat pork so it's rare I can get good greens anymore but they use turkey butt, so if that's a concern for you too, get your greens HERE. I will absolutely be back for my next soul food fix. Price is high but portions are big and I have two meals for $22. Not too shabby in today's economy.

This is a local gem! If you find yourself in Cali you need to make it a point to go. Staff is always friendly, explain anything you may have a question on. Service is fast and the food is always on point. Took my husband here as he has never been he ate all of the food I posted on this post, and hes very very picky. The food is great, we weren’t a fan of the mac and cheese it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t a fan favorite of ours. Great job, this is my favorite location it is downtown LBC by the queen Mary. Chicken is juicy, tasty, succulent and crunchy! The cornbread, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, was great. The hot sauce is great, we even bought one to go. The lemonade is freshly squeezed and tasty. Yum cant wait to go back! Great job staff.

We got the breakfast sandwich and the chicken strips, mac-n-cheese, and slaw. I was really excited to try everything - it all looked good, but the flavor wasn’t there. Maybe I should’ve ordered something different. I was also surprised by the high prices. Our server, Alma, was really nice and fun to talk to. If I go back next time I’m in Long Beach, I’ll try something else since other items have good reviews.

Haven't been here in a while, and so glad I did. So good! So filling! Not good for diets. Had the 1 breast with grits. Grits were surprisingly good. Of course the chicken was fantastic. Love that they have parking across the street, WITH AN ATTENDANT. Service was good, but my extra plate for my son never came. (Don't ask for anything extra).

The service was very good everyone working there is extremely friendly! The food was better than I expected and the chicken was cooked perfectly, crunchy on the outside but juicy and tender on the inside. The best chicken and waffles!!!

Roscoe's Chicken and waffles is just what you expect, Chicken and waffles. They used to have great prices to match their great food, but recently everything has skyrocketed and they even got rid of the Obama meal. Will I come again? Sure. Will it hurt my wallet, damn sure. But man them waffles and chicken are what I dream about at night. Staff was 2 out of 10, atmosphere was meh

Hof's Hut Restaurant & Bakery is a casual, well-established local chain that offers a diverse range of homestyle American cuisine. Their customer service is exceptional and their comfort food is equally impressive. I happened to stumble upon this place while running errands in the area and decided to have breakfast there before it got crowded. I opted for the steak and eggs breakfast, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The steak was moist and packed with flavor, as were the eggs.
Amazing Brunch Experience at Hof's Hut We recently visited Hof's Hut for brunch and had a fantastic experience. The ambiance on the patio was delightful, offering a comfortable and inviting space. It was great to see so many families enjoying their meals together, which added to the warm and friendly atmosphere. We ordered the mimosa tray, which was not only a great value but also a perfect way to start our meal. The food was outstanding—my chicken wings were perfectly crispy and juicy, and my egg and steak plate was cooked to perfection with the steak being flavorful and tender, cooked exactly to the right temperature. My wife’s salad was fresh and crunchy, with the greens tasting incredibly fresh. To top it all off, we indulged in the cheesecake with seasonal peaches for dessert, and it was absolutely delicious. We left completely satisfied and are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend

Old-school California charm with big portions and classic diner vibes! Loved the juicy Hofburger stacked with onion rings and crispy bacon, and the tuna melt was perfectly creamy without being soggy. Fries were hot and crispy — just how they should be. Friendly service, nostalgic atmosphere, and seasonal strawberry specials that tempt you right at the door. Come hungry, leave full, and skip dinner (because you’ll still be stuffed).

This place has always been the best place for simple dishes with a lot of flavor. I have been going to Hof's for over 20 years and it's a family favorite. The staff is always friendly and very accommodating. Try the strawberry cream puff ..not too sweet, the pastry is flaky, the filling is creamy and light, the fruit has just enough sweetness the right amount to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Such delicious food and prices that can't be beat. Could not believe the great amount of food for the prices they charge. Best looking pumpkin breakfast items I've ever seen. Food was wonderful and lots of it. Atmosphere can be described as vintage. Plenty of parking in the back. When we got there it was very crowded. Had to put our names in but we only had to wait 10 minutes which was awesome. The employees are very efficient and polite. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'd actually rather keep this place a secret, it's so good.

Good 1st time here. Dog friendly seating, which was a BIG plus, considering I brought my dog with me. Service was pretty good here! The food was good, but my partner said his plate wasn't the greatest ( steak, mashed potatoes & veggies ). I had no complaints, My kid got chicken tenders & fries. I got the French dip with Au Jus sauce & fries....sooo good! I recommend this spot most definitely, I'll be back to try other plates.

Sunrise Café in Lakewood is a charming family-owned diner that specializes in homestyle breakfast and lunch. The menu features classic American dishes like eggs benedict, as well as unique options such as Hawaiian loco moco with a choice of beef hamburger patty or spam. Visitors can also enjoy healthier choices like The White Egg Scrambler served with homefries. Despite its unassuming appearance, the café is popular among locals and visitors alike, known for its generous portions and friendly service.
I stopped in for a cup of coffee and decided to have a light breakfast. The menu has a wide variety from open-faced turkey sandwiches with mashed potatoes, smothered in gravy to chilaquiles. All the food that passed by looked and smelled amazing and the portions were generous. I love to support locally owned and operated businesses. With their price point, customer service and menu offerings, Sunrise is definitely going to be one of my new go-to places in Lakewood/Long Beach, CA area.

What a surprise. Driven by this place hundreds of times, but never could eat here since it was in the evening. Today was that day and I must say it was quite good. Their veggie omelette is big, nice generous portion, which I added corn and zucchini in addition. What was nice was the veggies were sautéed perfectly and not mushy. Perfection. Ordered a side of grits, which is hard to find nowadays, was flavorful and not dry, just a tad bit runny. They just need better forks. Good food needs good cutlery. Also, if using a microwave, either cut the bell wire, or cover it up. Cheapens the brand. Service was nice and friendly A nice new addition to the breakfast rotation. Mr owner: piece of advice, instead of checking the register when you walk in, try engaging your guests. 😉

I've lived in Long Beach since 2008 and this was my first visit. Cute little cafe with a decent menu listing. I was greeted and seated when I walked in. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and home fries. Steak was flavorful and home fried were good. It came with eggs but I didn't want any. Coffee was good but what I really enjoyed was the train that circles the interior of the cafe. I definitely would return again.

Visiting Long Beach and saw near the airport. Good food, quick friendly service. Not the prettiest place for sure but sometimes a decent meal is what you want. Good for the little ones as they have a train running above the perimeter of the walls. Small line of people waiting outside so that was a good sign. If you're looking for a good meal and dont mind the modest surroundings, Sunrise is a good stop.

I highly Recommend this place for breakfast... I ordered the ABC omelette, which is avocado, bacon and cheese. It was delicious. The prices aren't bad either and the portions are huge. You get your food really fast and everybody that works there is very nice. Try it for yourself you will not be disappointed!!

I have driven past this place several times and it always seemed busy. I finally decided to give it a shot since I had some free time in the morning. Parking was tight though. The customer service is excellent, however the food is not worth the long lines and the wait. The food is not bad or terrible. I just wouldn’t wait more than 20 mins for a seat. I had the beef machaca with corn tortillas and coffee. The food was decent but you could tell the tortillas were heated in the microwave .

Phnom Penh Noodle Shack is a well-established noodle house in Long Beach, known for serving hearty portions of authentic Cambodian cuisine. The restaurant, run by the second generation of the Tan family since 1985, has gained popularity among locals and has been featured in various publications. Their specialty lies in customizable breakfast soups with different types of noodles and pork broth. The menu also includes a house special featuring multiple cuts of pork and shrimp, offering a nuanced flavor profile.
Authentic Cambodian spot that is a staple in the community. This restaurant has been around since my partner was a kid, and it is nice to hear that they have been here for so long. They offer great and affordable prices on huge portions. I particularly had the Mo special with the broth on the side. The spareribs that is in the broth is so tender that the meat falls off the both with just a poke. The noodles is soft and mixes well with the proteins. The flavor is on point and better than I had anywhere else. The staff are very friendly, and the kitchen moves really fast. We waited just a few minutes for a table and a few minutes for our food after we ordered. Looking forward to coming back when I am in Long Beach!

First time trying Cambodian noodles, thanks to a local friend’s recommendation. The place has a cozy vibe — packed with Cambodian locals even during a late weekday lunch, which says a lot. We ordered the house special noodles, which come with a bowl of flavorful broth and a big bone on the side, plus the tomato noodle soup. Both were delicious. I especially loved the liver in the house special — wish I had asked for extra. Both soups were completely new flavors to me, but I enjoyed them both. Prices are very affordable, especially for how much food you get.

PhnomPenh Noodle Shack 🫵🏻🫵🏻is hands down the best noodle spot I’ve had in America! If you’re a fan of bold flavors, hearty portions, and comforting soup dishes — this place is a must-visit. The bowls are huge — seriously generous portions loaded with noodles, a variety of meats, and rich, flavorful soup. Every bite is satisfying and packed with authentic Cambodian flavor. It’s the kind of meal that leaves you full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit. Beyond the food, the vibe is awesome — casual, welcoming, and full of character. There’s great background music, the energy is relaxed, and the staff are super friendly and helpful, adding to the overall experience. It’s also very cost-effective — you get incredible quality and a massive portion for a very fair price. It’s rare to find a place that offers such great value while still delivering top-tier flavor and service.

Breakfast and lunch menu This place is small and busy but the flavors are there and the quality is great! Everyone we're in Cambodia town, we try new spots to try. I'm glad we found this before they got packed. Waiting list is outside and the lines get long but it's worth it. The khatiev broth is clean, crisp and light. The noodles are cooked perfectly.

This is comfort food. Every time I go I order the tomato beef stew with thick noodles. I sometimes get the standard Thai tea with meals. The only downside is that the place is so popular that there might be a wait to get seated. This is my go-to restaurant when family and friends visit Long Beach.

Placed an online order for 2 breakfast pizzas at 9:35am for a 10:15am pick up. Got an email saying my order will be ready around 10:15am. Showed up at 10am and let them know I was early and that I was there to pick up an order. Didn't mind waiting since I knew I was early. Just wanted an update and the girl told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. Waited until about 10:25am and asked another girl if there was an update and she said it would be 10 minutes. Waited until 10:45am and asked a third person for an update on my order and they said it was being boxed up. What is the point in placing an online order if it's not going to be ready? The whole time I'm waiting, I'm just noticing that all the people walking in and placing orders are getting their food before me. So did they just not even start my order to be ready for a 10:15am pick up? It seems like they started it, when I got there. Apparently it takes about a half hour, but that's exactly why I placed an order online in advance. I had to wait over 30 minutes past my pick up time. I walked out at about 10:50am. The service is horrible. On top of that, I asked for red onions and arugula on the pizza. They put such an excessive amount. I had to pick a lot of it off. The crust was burnt all around. Hard as can be. It wasn't even edible. I'm never going back. The service here was never this bad before.

Aroma Di Roma Coffee is a little slice of Italy right here in Newport! This charming café is the perfect spot for coffee lovers and anyone craving a cozy, European-inspired vibe. The coffee is rich, smooth, and expertly crafted—whether you’re sipping on a classic cappuccino or trying one of their specialty drinks, every cup feels like a treat. Pair it with one of their fresh pastries (the almond croissant is a must!), and you’ve got the ideal start to your day. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the outdoor seating is perfect for people-watching. Aroma Di Roma is a gem that’s well worth a visit!

This is a nice place to grab a coffee in Belmont Shore. There's plenty of seating inside and outdoors (some of which is covered to protect you from the elements). The coffee is reasonably priced, but I didn't find the latte's strong enough for my taste. Personally, I didn't think there was much of a selection of cakes and pastries. Nice clean restrooms (which you have to ask for a key to enter). Nice friendly staff.
Steve — Google review
Let’s settle the gelato debate first. Aroma di Roma serves what might be Southern California’s finest—creamy, dense, and balanced without cloying sweetness. At $6.50 for four scoops, it’s a steal compared to trendy spots charging double for half the portion. Yes, grocery store ice cream is cheaper, but this is the real deal: lower fat, richer flavor, and craftsmanship that mass producers can’t replicate. The coffee gelato alone justifies the visit. Imagine espresso concentrate swirled into a velvety base with a ribbon of something between caramel and fudge—not quite either, but better. It’s deep, slightly bitter, and lingers like a good pour-over. If this flavor vanished, loyalists would stage a sit-in. Service shines here. Staff greet regulars by name, explain flavors patiently (try the pistachio if they’ve restocked), and never rush decisions. Their warmth feels authentically Italian, like the kind your Sicilian nonno would approve. Claro’s Italian Market? A decent deli, but their gelato lacks this punch. Aroma di Roma’s secret? They focus on freshness. Batches rotate daily, so flavors like blood orange or stracciatella taste vibrant, not freezer-burned. Pricing leans premium, but fairly. A $14 margherita pizza isn’t Domino’s. You’re paying for ingredients, not grease. Parking: Snag the 24-minute spot out front for quick grabs. For longer stays, free spaces sit one block away. Pro tip: Arrive before 3 PM weekends to avoid the post-beach crowd. Final call? This isn’t just gelato. It’s a passport to Italy via Long Beach.
Michael M — Google review
It really shouldn't be that difficult. I ordered the Aroma special, gave them my name. Waited 20 minutes until I saw 2 others getting their food. I asked the shaggy looking guy about my order and he said he got the wrong name down and dismissed that my old was just cold. Then when I opened up the box, potatoes were missing. My rating is well deseved. So many other options and dismissive staff.

We accidentally stumbled upon the small cafe because they had outdoor seating so we could bring our dogs. What a happy surprise! Plenty of seating indoors and out! Inside: there have one larger booth (fits maybe 5-6) then two other normal size booths and many tables inside and out! Clean, food is pretty good, friendly and quick service! I tried a vanilla cappuccino, it was good! Prices are very fair. They have a restroom inside that was very clean and well stocked. It’s on the smaller side so restroom is single toilet and sink. Plenty of parking located outside restaurant in parking lot or on street - there is two hour free parking. Keep in mind they close about 2PM (:

It is a cute little cafe, a nice place to have coffee and hangout. The food could use improvement, the Belgian waffle was dry and not crispy at all and the bagel did not have cream cheese and the scramble needed more seasoning.

It was our first time at this cafe. The cafe was under staffed today and full of people. But we decided to wait anyway. Understandably we knew that it was a going to be a while. We waited about 40min until we got a table for 2. We were of course greeted and right away ordered our drinks. We patiently waited and eventually had our food ordered and just took in the ambience and vibe. I could see the servers were very attentive to other customers and the hostess was pitching in cleaning and setting tables. I could see the team effort. Our table had a little basket with creamers and sugars and Crayons! The "table cloth" was actually a large white piece of paper, so I took the opportunity to doodle while we waited for our food. Eventually we got our food, and it looked great. The portions were large and perfect, and the taste was even better. It made the waiting worth it. I'll definitely come back.

One of my favorite spots to go after training. Great atmosphere, excellent customer service and delicious food, vegan options available too. Today we had the Vegan scramble and the Healthy scramble, both are good!!

I was welcomed very warmly when I entered this establishment and the staff was very polite and attentive. I ordered a latte with almond milk and it was pretty good. The farmers omelet I ordered was amazing, but the hash browns were kind of dry and really bland. I would give a five star but everything was only okay and the cleanliness wasn't what I expect when eating out. If I'm in the area there is a good chance I would try this place again.

Decent prices, good food, very friendly staff, strong coffee, and very welcoming. I originally walked in to order a coffee to go but ended up having breakfast there because the place was so welcoming (nice decor) and the staff was so friendly (I saw them laughing and talking to their regulars). They also had the news on and my waitress frequently asked if I needed anything else. I ordered loaded hash browns (see pic) and they were delicious. It tasted home cooked, and the coffee was nice and strong. I'll definitely be coming back.

The Ordinarie Tavern is a cozy and inviting establishment that offers a delectable selection of American cuisine, complemented by an array of beverages including beer, wine, and cocktails. The tavern's renowned burgers have been taken to new heights by Executive Chef Shelbi Ulms, who has crafted a burger reminiscent of the iconic In N Out staple.
From start to finish, this place hit all the marks. First off: ambiance. The design is effortlessly cool without feeling pretentious. Moody lighting, interesting décor, and the vibe just works. You walk in knowing they paid attention to the little things. Service? Top notch. Attentive without hovering. Friendly without being fake. They made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Now, the food & drinks. Delicious. Inventive. Each plate felt like it had its own personality. Cocktails? Bold, balanced, and beautifully presented. Bonus points for live music- it added just the right energy without overpowering your conversation. If you’re in Long Beach and want somewhere to impress a date, hold a chill but elevated get-together, or just treat yourself — The Ordinarie belongs on your “must visit” list.

This place and its waitstaff are quirky and well intentioned. However, when ordering apps and entrees, instead of pacing the meal, EVERYTHING was delivered at the same time, leaving us rushed to finish a salad and then conquer our lukewarm entrees. Steak Frites lacked any flavor and had to drench in salt and pepper. Considering how quickly the food was cooked the steak was cold and had a big brick of cold garlic butter. Sadly wished for more.

Ordinarie Tavern was a chill vibe! Walked in, server was great, was definitely attended to, and the cocktails was heat! Took longer than usual for the food to come out; got a grilled cheese wit short rib and smash burger and they were yummy!

The three of us made an early happy-hour pilgrimage to The Ordinarie, drawn by fun energy and bartender Sophia’s charm. The wings were spot-on—crispy, flavorful, and basically MVP of the night. Then came the blackened salmon… which arrived looking more ‘charcoal chic’ than ‘seared perfection.’ To their credit, they rescued it with a second attempt that redeemed the dish. The fries were solid sidekicks—golden and satisfying. Unfortunately, the taps weren’t cooperating, so we ended up with an okay IPA that got the job done. Early happy-hour scene? Pleasant and promising—though maybe things smooth out even more as the evening unfolds. All in all, a generally fine outing with a few hiccups, but enough fun and friendliness to make us want another round

Met some girlfriends for drinks and apps in a spooky atmosphere. The decorations were amazing, as usual. We really enjoyed the lights. We had some of the holiday drinks and each lady was pleased with her choice. We also ordered deviled eggs and a fried, hand-held pot pie appetizer. The servers were dressed up and it was busy! Our server did a good job of getting to us and keeping us updated on how things were coming. It was good fun for the price!

Was looking for a place nearby that was showing the Olympic Men's Basketball Gold Medal game and found this place. Very cool atmosphere and decor. Service was great. The Bartender Eric was super friendly and helpful. I asked him for any refreshing cocktail and he made a few different ones that were are all delicious. Ordered the Tavern Burger and that was also super delicious! It had pickled jalapeno's in it which was super good and not super spicy. Also, their ketchup and ranch was homemade and fresh. Overall, delicious food, great service, and a cool place. Definitely would come back.

Coffee shop
The Library Coffee House, located in Long Beach, is a charming spot that used to be a bookstore and now serves as a spacious coffee house with an inviting atmosphere. The interior features exposed brick, plush mismatched seating, shaded lamps, framed artworks, and strategically placed bookshelves. It's known for its cozy and comfortable environment that attracts readers, writers, students, and anyone seeking a peaceful corner.
Where do I start?!?!? It's such a great feeling to find a gem in a big city like Long Beach!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED our visit to this cozy spot! I WILL DEFINITELY take a trip again to visit here!! I live about 40 min away and I think it's TOTALLY worth your time and money!! If you EVER get a chance to check this place out? DO IT!! you will NOT REGRET IT!! It's a unique place to visit, go on a hike at the beach then visit. Go watch the sunrise then visit. Impress your special someone on a first breakfast date! Visit with your friends and family. Take your books to study or just chillax, I promise you, you will enjoy it!! The food tasted amazing, even though I just had a breakfast croissant and regular coffee, the croissant tasted freshly baked fluffy and flaky like I love it. The eggs were equally fluffy and the bacon on point! Coffee was perfect, not crazy strong that would cause my hair to straighten or not too light that it wouldn't give me the caffeine kick I need. The ambience is so soothing and serene, perfect for feeling at ease and tuned into a good conversation, or a good book.🥰🥰 I wish that I'd live close to it, it would easily become my favorite spot to visit. The people that work there (seemed to me) slightly serious but they offer great service and are very professional. They were also genuine, helpful and generous. When we walked in it was very early in the morning around 6:30ish. We were greeted with the aroma of coffee and freshly baked bread or pastries. We realized that there were some hot, right out of the oven, chocolate croissants,. You could see some steam coming out and some melted chocolate on the sides.🤤🤤 I will definitely have some the next time we go. 😋😋 We made a big order and, unlike big chain restaurants, they got our order perfect on one try! So, if you ever want to check out this awesome place, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE and GO!! I hope you like it as much as I like it now! 🥰🎉😋💖

“In thy youth wast as true a lover, As ever sighed upon a midnight pillow.” You have arrived at the LIBRARY. ;D The Library is a cool hippy coffee shop on the corner of East Broadway and Redondo Avenue in Long Beach. They offer a breadth of coffee, tea and drinks as well as breakfast items. Its interior as the name denotes is full of bookshelf with variety of books. Similarly, their vintage light fixtures and furnitures adds to the coffee shop’s personality. Furthermore, it’s spacious albeit lacks natural light. It was my first time here and it seems it’s the most popular cafe in the area. I was warmly and ebulliently greeted by a female staff; I perused their menu and decided to get a Hazelnut Hipster and Egg Croissant sandwich for a late breakfast. Both were bloody fantastic! Prices were fair and highly competitive. Free wifi. Plenty of street parking available. Fellow visitors were cordial. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Overall, I enjoyed my dine-in experience and food/coffee. I recommend you visit if you’re in the area.

Such a wonderful coffee joint. Not only is the coffee tasty and the food (breakfast croissants are TASTY) great, but they couldn't be more welcoming to patrons looking to stay and work for awhile. I have never seen a more concerted effort to get power strips and extension cords run to every seating area they could. Even at late hours of the night, when I'm passing by it's always busy! Long Beach loves the Library.

This is the place I looked forward to every morning on my trip. So kind and efficient. The croissants are like heaven and the cheesecake is insane. Even my kids ice cream was delicious. Plenty of tables and always a great vibe. Large selection of drinks. Definitely will return next time we are down. 🌀🩷

edited: "the" vintage study spot—my friend's matcha drinks were... questionable, lookin more like pastel-teal coloured milk, but the caramel brownie bar was decadent. maybe i'm losing it, cause the caramel had this weird gochujang-like aftertaste, but the bar itself is delicious—a lil hard to cut into but very rich and fudgy. seems like most of their pastries are lovely, and its surprisingly budget-friendly here too, next on my list is their cake slices; recommended to visit!

I loved my visit to the Library Coffee House! The mismatched chairs, bookshelves, and artwork on the walls create a charming atmosphere with tons of character. It was refreshing to spend time in a cozy and eclectic coffee shop rather than a trendy or sleek/cold environment which feels more and more common these days. There is plenty of space and seating to sit solo or catch up with a loved one. Most importantly, the drip coffee was smooth and delicious. Although I didn’t order food, they offer an extensive cafe-like menu and I was very pleasantly surprised by the drink and food prices. Very reasonable and fair ($1 refills :-)!) I felt very welcomed by the friendly staff and the service was also fast and warm. The wifi was reliable (in the case you’re there to remote work) and as a South Bay native, I left only dissatisfied with the fact it has taken me so long to discover this place. I will absolutely make an effort to visit many, many times again.

Very boho, relaxed kind of reminded me of the seventies, and surprisingly comfortable. There were lots of seats and tables, but you could still hear your coffee companions. conversation and the food and coffee was affordable. Nice mix of ages, young people on tablets,, older people engaged in conversatio, and single people reading or scrolling. Good place to meet friends or just to be around humanity to enjoy people watching.

The Bamboo Club is a laid-back tiki joint in Long Beach, offering outdoor seating and a diverse menu. It's known for its innovative fried chicken sandwich, featuring a unique brine infused with Thai tea leaves. This creates a creamy and familiar flavor without the sweetness of condensed milk. The bar celebrates Long Beach's love for tiki culture and drinks, reminiscent of the city's history with tiki concepts.
The go-to spot and top bar on my list in Long Beach! A dimly lit and atmospheric tiki bar (with a patio in the back) great for dinner with the family or a night out drinking. They have a large menu that’s very accommodating for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free modifications! Different events are hosted nearly everyday of the week including sick shows, be sure to check their event calendar ahead of time! Even on packed out nights I’ve never had an excessive wait time to get a drink at the bar but do keep in mind this place does get busy due to it’s popularity (rightfully so) If you’re planning to grab lunch or dinner reservations are HIGHLY recommended especially for large groups, wait times varies but can sometimes be a few hours during peak times

Novelty tiki bar that serves food from burgers to Hawaiian dishes. The food is delicious, but comes out of the kitchen a little too quickly. The inside of this tiki bar is dark and dinghy, with the patio needing a little more than some bamboo and a fountain to continue the tiki vibe. The drinks are what makes a tiki bar a tiki bar and they are great concoctions. We only wish that there was more liquid and less ice for the price. At about $17 per drink.. a glass full of ice that with the first sip empties 2/3 of the drink makes you question how much liquid is there. It felt like shots were bought and then poured into a glass full of crushed ice. The macaroni salad and peppers would be the two dishes to get and share at the table.

Tremble Club Review 1. The halloween drink menu has a ton of cool options. That the bartenders appear to hate making. And all of the drinks are over $20. 2. After you pay, they tell you there's a mandatory %18 gratuity because of the type of drinks and the "halloween" experience. 3. The bus boy who tried to take a drink i wasnt finished with was a jerk. I stopped him and asked for it back. He said, "its empty are you dead in the head." I said, "no there's at least my 18% gratuity in there." He stomped off then proceeded to complain about me and point to me amongst the staff. This bar is for a specific niche crowd. And despite it being a full on tiki bar, there seems to be an attitude about ordering the drinks and being able to finish them. Over this place.

This place was amazing, we went on a Saturday around 1pm. Honestly we didn’t know what to expect it was a bit dark when we went inside. Once we order our first drink it was game over. I got a Mai Tai and the Nina Fresa (10/10). The chicken sandwich however amazing that first bite that crunchiness was out of this world. My girl is not a big fan of Cold slaw and pickles and ate it all I was amazed. The Mac was a 7/10 not our favorite but still passed. We will definitely be back.

Zuzu's Petals is a beloved Long Beach brunch spot known for its top-notch ingredients, friendly service, and delectable food. Families are drawn to the restaurant thanks to its amusing kids' menu and diverse selection of breakfast dishes like chicken and waffles and Belgian waffles. The establishment offers a cozy yet casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Guests rave about the crispy potatoes, breakfast sandwiches, chicken waffles with blueberry compote, and cinnamon pecan butter.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here. The waffle and chicken dish was super tasty. Very busy place, but only had a short wait to be seated. Everything on menu looked good. My wife was very pleased with her meal. Both inside and outside seating. Worth a visit.

Heard lots about Zuzu and finally made it out. I ordered the Curious George espresso which was delicious and Matcha pancakes with the cream on the side. They brought out an order of green pancakes with everything on the side. The presentation was a bit disappointing but I'm impressed with the quality customer service, ability to take customer feedback and quick offer to fix it... they brought out a new order and made it complementary! In my opinion... Better than the food was the quality customer service. And for that... I'll definitely be back. Thank you Zuzu for the nice dining experience.

Found this place through an Instagram post and man, I am so happy we got to try it. The food and coffee are delicious! We got the pancakes with berries, breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint! Everything we got was so good and fresh. The coffee was delicious as well. I recommend the lavendar latte. Luckily we didn't have enough to wait long and sat at a table at the outside patio. Nice place to catch up with friends over breakfast. Will definitely be back!

After a long festival weekend we decided to try Zuzu’s Petals and already thinking about what I’m ordering next time. It’s tucked away and feels like a local secret, but I’m not about to gatekeep. Super cute space and great outdoor seating. There was a line when we got there, but it moved fast and we were seated quicker than expected. Always a good sign when a place is busy and still efficient. We had the ribeye and eggs, the French toast, and an omelette. Everything was sooo good! The ribeye was juicyyyy and flavorful, eggs cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were crispy and seasoned just right. The French toast was just right not too sweet. The lobster omelette was fluffy and yummy and came with a fresh little side salad that actually balanced the plate out nicely. We ordered a coffee and an iced matcha. Both were solid. Not overly sweet, and you can tell they use good ingredients. Great vibe, great food, sweet staff. Definitely one of those spots you’ll want to come back to.

If you're looking for a delicious meal or thinking of opening up a restaurant, come eat here first to see how a great restaurant is operated. The service was fantastic. Our orders were taken quickly, and couple of special requests ( Mocktails) were handled graciously. Food was delivered hot and fresh. The chicken and waffles were delicious, as was the breakfast sandwich. I'm assuming that organic, cage free eggs are being served because they have the rich colored yolk as our hens at home. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. We sat outside under the shade. The music was at a level that didn't compete or drown out conversations. Every aspect was enjoyable. We'll definitely be back.

Last weekend, I was able to travel to Long Beach with my girlfriend. And we got a great recommendation from a Starbucks employee about a breakfast spot in downtown Long Beach not too far from the airport. She said that Zuzu’s petals was to die for and that the atmosphere and the food was absolutely excellent. And she did not disappoint with this recommendation. Though it is a smaller café, the staff works diligently to create absolutely delicious food that hits the highest mark of deliciousness and amazing food that feels like it was made with love. The two breakfasts that we decided to get was the sweet potato pancakes and also the “ I can’t decide” breakfast plate. The sweet potato pancakes are definitely something I reminisce, despite making my way back home to Vegas and I have been craving it ever since. The fluffiness, the hazelnut butter spread and Crème Frâche, in can the pomegranate seeds add the perfect pair of sweetness without being overpowering. The “I cant decide” breakfast platter was able to balance the meal in a sweet to savory combination, from the way that the eggs and bacon are prepared and even the sourdough was absolutely delicious and feels like a very light meal to set the tone for you morning. I’m truly appreciative for the staff and from the time we ordered our food to the time we sat down, it was a great way to start out little weekend getaway and I can definitely say we will be back again very soon. If you’re in the downtown Long Beach area get there early and trust be when I say you won’t regret it. This is a gem restaurant that will having you come back more and perfect for a date to catch up with friends or your significant other!! All love the ZuZu Petals staff for making it unforgettable experience

I am visiting from San Diego this weekend and found this spot! Definitely expect a wait, there's guaranteed to be a line. You order at the front and then they seat you and your party. We waited about 15 minutes, but the line moved pretty quickly. There's outdoor seating (near street/sidewalk with umbrellas) and a few tables with covered seating as well. Parking is a little difficult in this area, but that's Long Beach for ya! This place is definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Food is delicious and fresh, service is great, and it's such a cute little vibe. Oh! They also have a yummy seasonal drink menu. Food/drink review: Ginger Kombucha (canned): (5/5) Loveddd this kombucha. It was delicious! Curious George latte??: (5/5) | don't remember the name. It was a seasonal drink. I don't drink coffee, but tasted my friend's and it was DELICIOUS. The cold foam and caramel were chef's kiss. Nutella croissant: (5/5) This was bigger than I thought! It's stuffed with Nutella inside and has a nice crunch to the outside, but buttery soft inside. House pancakes: (5/5) These were bomb. Great texture, flavor, and the syrup was not overly sweet. I'd definitely order for the table again. It's a big portion! * we wanted the lemon ricotta pancakes, but weren't on the menu. We also wanted the brioche but they sold out!!* Lobster omelette: (4.5/5) My friend said it was delicious! Quite buttery, but great flavor overall. Skillet: (5/5) Simple, yet delicious! Good portion of food as well.

The waiter harassed us for no reason after our friend group went in after Vans Warped Tour... I guess he and the girlies behind the bar just didn't like one of our friends in the group after looking them head to toe and randomly told them they are "not welcome here" as we were ready to order. Nonna Mercato is a delightful addition to Long Beach, offering delectable pastries and a tempting brunch menu. The ambiance is lively yet laid-back, making it perfect for people-watching or enjoying a good book while savoring a croissant. The dirty nutty drink with espresso, chai, and peanut milk is as flavorful as its ingredients suggest.
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this charming French-Italian café bakery! The food was a solid 10 out of 10 everything was bursting with authentic, juicy, and delicious flavors. I had the French omelette, which was perfectly cooked, and the baked eggs were just as amazing. My cappuccino was rich and smooth, exactly what I needed to round out the meal. I was visiting a friend nearby, and we decided to give this place a try I’m so glad we did! It did not disappoint. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the food speaks for itself. A special shout-out to our waitress, Kaylee, who was incredible she checked in on us regularly, made sure everything was to our liking, and even brought us some extra bread when we needed it. She also introduced us to their homemade hot sauce, which was absolutely delicious such a nice touch! If you’re in the area and love authentic, flavorful food, I highly recommend this spot. It’s a hidden gem that you won’t regret trying!

Absolutely in love with this cute and Earth toned chic eatery and bakery. They’re limited (in a good way) on seating. They don’t seat you until you have your full party. When you walk inside there’s a bakery that kind of seems hidden. They have bread, muffins, and croissants for sale inside (not listed on dine in menu really). They also sale individual beverages inside too. When I sat down with a friend to dine, the table was set so cute and aesthetically appeasing. They pour you water from a glass bottle (sophisticated 😅). I ordered the quiche which they serve it with bacon or veggie. Come before 10:30am if you want veggie because it sales quickly. It came with a delicious salad. I loved having Marissa as a server!!!! She made the entire experience definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. She was so attentive to our table, explained the menu, made suggestions, and was very conversational throughout my dine in experience. She is there Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday ✨🌸 Their menu also consists of yummy lunch items and some pasta 💛 If you’re hesitant to try, I’d say give it a shot! Worth every penny! Oh yeah ☺️ you walk away with a card at the end with the name of the restaurant which is so thoughtful and rare 🥹💕

I had a great experience overall! The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We tried the country bread, carbonara pasta, and Nonna breakfast; all were flavorful and well-prepared. The food really stood out. The only downside was the coffee. I had the “Banana Buzz,” which sounded promising but turned out quite watery and underwhelming. Coffee may not be their strong suit, but thankfully the excellent food more than made up for it. Be prepared for a long wait if you're going for brunch as it gets busy! Still, we’ll definitely be back.

So Nonna Mercato gets packed and for good reason. We recently stopped by this Bixby Knolls hot spot for lunch. Parking was a bit difficult but we found street parking. Came here for Brioche with ricotta, honey, and pistachio. Got two croissants which were Strawberry & cream and Bacon & onion for togo. For Brioche I requested for honey on the side because I prefer to adjust the sweetness by myself and it was perfectly scrumptious. Millions out of ten! Brioche itself was soft, buttery, and tasty so it complimented very well with ricotta and honey plus a bit crunchy from pistachio. Oh one bite and I was blown away. My taste buds were dancing happily. Let’s talk about croissants. Normally, I tend to like savory croissants more than sweet croissants. However, after I tried both of them, strawberry and cream is the winner. I really like the filling. I’m not sure if it’s mascarpone or something else that went really well with strawberry jam. It’s so freaking good! Bacon and onion croissant was not bad at all but as I stated earlier, strawberry & cream is the winner for me.

Colossus Bread, located in Belmont Shore, is known for its decadent pastries and chef-driven bakery offerings. The Kouign-Amann, a French caramelized butter cake, is a popular choice among visitors. The bakery prides itself on using sustainably sourced and seasonal ingredients to create their hot loaves and pastries. Specializing in sourdough breads and classic French and Italian pastries, Colossus also offers gourmet pizzas and sandwiches.
Colossus is worth the hype! I dropped in while killing time in Long Beach and am happy I did. I ordered the Honey Lavender Latte which was a perfect balance of sweet and herb 🌿 For baked goods, I went with the following: 1) Cardamom Bun : $5.50 - Loved the simple yet elegant nature to this one. Just a hint of cardamom with a soft, warm interior made this a lighter option. 2) Pumpkin Almond Chocolate Twice Baked Croissant : $8 - seasonal special croissant that was unique. I loved the duo of 🎃 and 🍫! 3) Twice Baked Almond Croissant : Great outer crunch with soft interior. Solid croissant!

I needed to kill some time before my nail appointment, and I stumbled upon this bakery. I didn't get a chance to try a coffee (gave it up for Lent 😩), but i did try the iced tea/lemonade. The name escapes me but it was really good! The breakfast sandwiches were sold out, so get there early if you wanna try them. I had the egg in a basket....the bread was so good! I'm definitely coming back again. No seating! Grab & Go!

The staff here is AMAZING. The coffee is perfect everytime. The bread and all of the breakfast meals are incredible. They are expanding so hopefully they will have a sit down area soon. Bree and Leah and THE BEST!!!

I had a wonderful experience at this delightful bakery! I highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the neighborhood. The coffee was exceptionally good. My friends and I enjoyed the Iced Gingerbread Latte with Cold Foam (7/10) and the Midsommar Latte (9/10), both delicious, with the Midsommar Latte being particularly delicious! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Citrus Mascarpone Oat Streusel Sweet Danish—a perfect 10/10! I appreciated that the tip was included, making the ordering process very convenient. And no extra charge for alternative milk options! Perfect ! I plan to return if ever near the neighborhood.

My favorite bakery in the area. They have a great selection of pastries as well as sandwiches and brunch options. Their drinks are also delicious, especially the strawberry matcha latte. The sandwiches are fantastic but if you can only get one thing I'd go for the pastries. The texture they achieve is out of this world as well as having great flavors and fillings.

love this place and it’s been a go for amazing baked goods and delicious bread. But I have to comment about the extortion for a cup of coffee. I previously was willing to pay it because they said prices were reflective of a living wage for their workers and the tip is also included. But now all of a sudden the tip screen is back. How much are you expecting us to pay for a cup of coffee and a baked good and also tip? Also please bring the seating back.

An Ideal Bakery, with Charm and Variety. PROS: The food and beverages are "out-of-the-park" good, honestly. The pastry I enjoyed was incredibly delicious, and surprisingly filling. The Vanilla Latte was flawless and served beautifully. The environment was intriguing, with so many tempting store items and local goods to look at while in line or waiting. The cashier was courteous, and everyone looked "in the zone" with their parts. CONS: The only con is the lack of parking in that region of Long Beach, which is out of their control. This shouldn't be a reason to not make a visit to 2nd st, and make a day of it by stopping by this spot. Excellent and Superb Spot to try in Long Beach.

Colossus is an absolute gem of a bakery. Incredible products, staff, service and selection of curated local goods. The open bakery is beautiful and everything that they put out is simply gorgeous. The seasonal items are always phenomenal and I strongly recommend checking them out! Coffee is nice with good milk alternative options, I originally fell in love with the San Pedro location and the Belmont location is just such an awesome extension of that. The Belmont location is so well put together, designed, and styled, plus it has a great menu throughout the day. Lots of seating outside and parking within walking distance. A lovely place with local roots bringing beautiful baked goods to the South Bay & Long Beach areas-a must try if you’re in the area.

Alder & Sage is a charming open indoor space with ample indoor and outdoor seating, including patio-style seating with fire pits. The ambience and customer service are excellent, making it worth a visit even for just a cup of drip coffee. The menu offers delightful options like the Maple Sage Latte and delicious breakfast/brunch items such as the Mojo Pork Hash and Avocado Tartine. The Lavender Rose Latte is also highly recommended.
We decided to go there to listen to our friend’s band on Thursday. We arrived there at 6 pm and found a parking space (public parking) next to it. We paid $7 for two hours. Once inside the restaurant, we situated ourselves at a comfortable booth seats and near the music stage. We ordered a couple of drinks, appetizers to listen to the music. The staff checked in a few times to make sure we were okay, which was a nice gesture. Our appetizers were tasty and right amount. We left the restaurant happy after two hours.

I came with my girlfriend for brunch, and to co-work on a Tuesday afternoon. She’s a regular, but it was my first time here! The space is incredibly lovely—from the chic indoor dining room to the numerous outdoor areas. Each section has its own unique vibe and I absolutely love that! We ordered one of the new dishes (a soyrizo hash) and yogurt with granola and fresh fruit. Both were really tasty, but the yogurt was the winning choice for me. My friend said her go-to is the Turkish Eggs. The service was also great, no complaints there. If you’re in the area, this spot is 100% worth a visit! It’s delightful, charming, and I’m excited to try other items on their menu.

The coffee is good and the service is great! I had the flat white and my daughter had the blueberry latte which was also something different and nice. The ambiance is cute and the outdoor sitting is very relaxing and great to spend time with friends or even for working on your own. As we were short of time, so we did not order any of the hot breakfast items. We stayed with savory foods from there counter only - Almond Croissants, Ham and Raclette, Bacon and Chive croissant. The service is friendly and great! I highly recommend this place and will be going back for their hot breakfast items.

This place was so cute! The food was amazing - I highly recommend The Classic with the pork sausage. The Lavender Palmer is a must! Our bill for 2 tea/coffee & 2 breakfast was $61 before tip. If Jessica is there I highly recommend sitting in her section she is 10/10.

GREAT FOOD & VIBES, BAD SERVER EXPERIENCE I booked a table for 14 for my birthday on a Sunday afternoon and they seated us in the large bench table outside, perfect setting. We unfortunately had a bad experience with our server Cole, whose attitude made one of my guests feel unwelcome and embarrassed when she asked for a cup of ice. We also asked him to take a photo of our party outside the restaurant after we had paid, but he said he had to immediately clear our table when he could’ve spared a minute or two. I love this restaurant and the food and the vibes and I had great service the last time I was here, which is why I was so taken aback by my experience with this server. It was a pretty busy day so I understand the stress and hustle of catering to a 14 person table, but I feel like our experience was less than satisfactory because of these moments. I will still be returning because the food & coffee were very good— their signature seasonal drinks were amazing as always, the mazapán latte and guava cloud iced tea were perfect summer drinks. I also really liked the chicken wraps, portion size was perfect and everything was fresh.

Cute place, but average food. The inside is stylish and the coffee was good and original, but the food was not "great". The french toast was dry, and the mojo pork was not very tasty (but the potatoes were really good). Not the worst and still 3/5 stars, but not as good as expected, specially for the price.

This place is great. I love a hearty meal, and we were recommended a breakfast hash that hit the spot. I also had what was possibly the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. I’m already a sucker for a Mexican mocha but this one was borderline magical. I know that’s not manly to say but it’s worth it 😂

So first I want to start off by saying I've been coming to this place for over 20 years. I've brought many family members to this place. And also friends, I don't know what they did to their menu. But you can tell that this business is doing very poorly being that I have managed restaurants myself. The waitress came over to my table and said, be careful. This fried chicken just came fresh out of the fryer. I was very angry because in my line of vision was the kitchen and I saw where the cook had microwaved it. I went in around lunchtime between noon and 1 o'clock. There was only 2 other people in the restaurant. I have bragged about this place for over twenty years.Even in other states, if you're ever in california visit johnny rebs i would say. The only thing that was good was the size Cajun, rice and beans. But as you see, it's in a styrofoam container. Which we know not to put hot food in, but anyways. The bones in the chicken were black. Which indicates that chicken had either been sitting a long time and or was refrigerated from the day before and reheated my best guess. And I'm probably right. I noticed the menu was a lot of sandwiches and bowls.Which they're using leftovers and selling it at a high price. No, quality in the food anymore. Well, cutting corners and charging prices for bad food. When I could have went to any fast food chain and probably got a better meal for cheaper is outrageous and purely diabolical. This is how you lose a loyal customer. I have came to this place since my son was a little boy and I drive from miles away just for the biggest disa

Food was fine, got the chicken and catfish for two. Wasn't greeted at the door by the gentleman at the front for a good while even though we were the only ones standing up there. We were finally sat down, waiter was fine, could have came by to check on us a bit more. Food came out nice and hot. The fries were a little soft but nicely seasoned. "Grilled" Mac and cheese was okay, kinda flavorless. The catfish was alright. Chicken was nice and crispy but there was a hair on a piece.

Good food, seems to be budget continuous and supportive of the local community. Been twice now, once dinner, once breakfast, happy staff, healthy portions, meets expectations as far as food quality. Smoked prime rib on weekends is a “must stop” occasions, though sides can very in quality. Good local spot if you’re in the area and have a craving for comfort foods. Didn’t like the peach cobbler though, seems prepackaged and not meeting the same expectations as the rest of the food.
Scott P — Google review
This is my dads favorite spot. Whenever he requests anything outside of my mom’s home cooked Mexican dishes, this is his first request. We come here often and the service is excellent. We recently went for Father’s Day, I had the pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. My 1 year old nephew loved his mac & cheese as well. Next time I’ll take a photo of him enjoying it.

I found this spot by accident and did not regret coming here. I ordered half boudin balls, 2 piece southern fried chicken, and build your own bowel Mac & Cheese. It was so good the fried chicken is so light and crispy. I highly recommend if you’re looking for something different, Enjoy!

This is a delish gem in Belmont Shores. After a long day at Vans Warped Tour, their 18 inch pancakes really hit the spot. I had the Bar Room eggs, it was like a taco and a country breakfast had a baby! Our server was everything I believe being a local in this town is, warm and delightful!

My husband completed the Mac Daddy challenge haha that was fun. My chocolate chip pancakes were good, but nothing to write home about. I also thought my eggs were a bit on the slimy/wet side? So unfortunately, I did not love them! Not sure if it was a one time thing or if that’s how their eggs are usually made? Coffee was okay, but it was cool to support a small business in the area!

WORST. BREAKFAST. EVER. I don’t even write reviews but felt compelled to share what I just experienced. Long story short. The waitress never entered our order and then after we said something they just rushed out some of the worst food I’ve ever had. I don’t mind waiting, but don’t just send some slop out from the kitchen on the plate. The omelette was barely edible, the toast wasn’t what I ordered. The chocolate chip pancakes my girlfriend ordered were horrible, the eggs were wrong, and the bacon was terrible. I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the worst breakfast food I’ve ever had. We were polite but voiced our displeasure and they did nothing to try to remedy the situation. She also charged us for 2 coffees each. What kind of diner charges for a refill on coffee? I had been here a few times before and it was OKAY, but I won’t be returning

I bought my home in the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach in 2000 and discovered the POTHOLDER almost immediately. My career has had me bouncing around the country for the last 17 years but I'm back in the neighborhood. Couldn't wait to introduce my wife to this fabulous, local breakfast & lunch dive just 2 blocks from home. I was pleasantly surprised at the great upgrades the new owner, Michael has done to the place. It still has a great, funky feel, just upgraded funky. Before Covid, Saturday or Sunday meant 60 - 90 minute waits to get a seat. That should (and does) speak volumes for the food. Always tasty, great portions and great service to match. If you've never been, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. And after you've been there, you too will be telling others to EAT AT THE POTHOLDER. (You'll understand after you've visited.) :-)

Chuck's Coffee Shop is a classic American diner that has been a staple in Long Beach for nearly sixty years. It is known for its pet-friendly sidewalk seating with an ocean view, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with your furry friend. Cash only! I was down in Long Beach in the morning and have been to all the other diners and coffee shops in the area, but for some reason had never been to Chuck’s. It has a great location right next to the water and there is a lot of free parking surrounding the restaurant, which is extremely convenient. It’s quite small on the inside, but they have a lot of tables inside and out and they seem to turn quickly, so you most likely won’t have to wait very long. The menu is pretty small but has a lot of good classic items on it. Our server was not the most polite and took about 15 minutes or more to stop by after we sat down to get our drink order and then took another long time before she came back for our food order. Everything arrived a lot slower than I am used to for the diner or coffee shop so that was a bit of a surprise. For my breakfast I chose the #3 Omelette, which is Beef and Ortega Green Chile and thought it was pretty good, although not nearly as good as other versions that I’ve had recently. The chile didn’t have as much punch as I’m used to and it was honestly a smaller portion than I usually get at other places. I also felt that the beef wasn’t seasoned at all. It wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t memorable and I would not suggest ordering it. I also was not a huge fan of the coffee. It tasted a little bit bitter to me so overall, I don’t feel that I will be back but would encourage anyone who is in the area to give it a try.

Great location! Great food! Free two-hour street parking right outside the door (if you can find a spot). This is a typical Southern California diner with great breakfast and lunch items. The coffee is good, too! Our party of four loved the omelettes and child burger! Important note: CASH ONLY, but there is an ATM conveniently inside the diner.

Not happy with the price I paid for breakfast. Not sure if prices went up drastically but I paid $37 for the weasel with a mimosa. That's a huge price hike. Don't recall paying this much for 1 person before. When I asked the waitress she said yeah we'll prices went up. The online menu shows $15.25 for the weasel and about $10 for a mimosa. I feel like I was cheated. This was my favorite breakfast spot, but won't be returning again.

Emma, you are an awesome server, we had a great breakfast and you never kept us waiting. This was such a cute little diner over looking the beach. I loved the little fire place inside. Nothing groundbreaking, but get good diner food right by the beach. Great place to being your dogs and enjoy a meal on the sidewalk tables. Servers are quick to get your order and deliver your food. They only take cash, so plan ahead to avoid using the ATM inside and avoid the surcharge.

Dale's Diner is a nostalgic eatery that serves satisfying morning meals, stacked burgers, and specialty milkshakes. This retro establishment has managed to captivate visitors with its enduring charm. It embraces a 1950s theme and offers classic American cuisine. For those with specific dietary needs, they provide various breakfast substitutions. The menu features delectable options like chicken-fried steak with egg whites and an onion-tomato scramble.
First time for my wife and me. We loved it! Excellent service by the young lady this morning. Love the 50's throwback vibe, which included very comfortable booth benches! Our breakfast dishes were delicious and we look forward to tasting and testing the rest of their menu!
Domingo M — Google review
One of my favorite diners in Long Beach or the whole South Bay area. It’s very similar to George’s close by in that it is a traditional retro diner modeled after the 1950s. I am working through a list of all diners in LA County and next up on my list was Dale’s. I was excited to try it because it’s the sort of place that I love to visit and looking from the outside I knew that I would enjoy what was on the menu. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot however street parking is extremely easy to find in this part of town so we were able to find a free space right out front. Our server was extremely polite and checked in on us often and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They have a large menu filled with all sorts of great options so it’s the sort of place that would be easy to visit multiple times and be able to get something new each time. Pricing is also very fair, which is probably one of my favorite parts of any diner. For this visit, we started off with a Cinnamon Roll, and I honestly was not a fan of it. It was very dry and tasted more like a muffin than a traditional cinnamon roll. I am pretty sure they bought it in a large batch and was not homemade so I would not recommend ordering it. For my meal I chose the Hamburger Steak and Eggs and thought it was great. The patty had a lot of great seasoning on it, and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the portion size was very generous. Overall I really enjoyed it although I was not a fan of the Cinnamon Roll. I would highly recommend to any fan of diners or to anyone in the Long Beach area searching for a great casual meal.

**Hark!** What light through yonder diner breaks? ‘Tis not the moon, but chrome that gleams so bright, Where burgers, juicy as a summer’s morn, Do melt upon the tongue like lovers’ sighs. **O, blessed beef!** Thy patty, thick and true, Hath kissed the flame to sweet ambrosia’s tune, Whilst golden cheese, like sun-kissed Avalon, Doth cloak thee in a robe of molten grace. The bun, soft as a courtier’s velvet glove, Doth cradle thee with buttery embrace. **The staff!** Fair nymphs and merry-hearted knaves, Who greet thee not as guest, but kin long lost. Their smiles do sparkle brighter than the stars That gleam upon this realm of checkered floors. “What wilt thou, friend?” they cry with voices sweet, And lo! Thy cup o’erflows with cola’s fizz, Or shakes of malt, so thick, so rich, so cold, They’d make stout Neptune pause and beg a sip. **The scene!** Aye, here the golden age doth dwell— Where rock ‘n’ roll doth hum from jukebox high, And booths of crimson beckon weary souls To rest and feast like kings of olden days. E’en Elvis’ ghost might tap his blue suede shoe And cry, “Forsooth! This place outshines my own!” **Thus ends my tale**, yet ne’er my love for thee, O diner fair, where joy and grease do meet. Five stars? Nay, ten! And all the muses sing: “Return anon, and taste eternity!” **—Thy Devoted Patron & Bard of Burgers** --- **Translation for Modern Folk**: *“This 50s diner slings burgers so juicy they’re basically edible sonnets, staff so kind they’d give Falstaff a run for his money, and vibes so retro you’ll swear you’ve stepped into ‘Happy Days.’ 11/10. Seriously though, it’s delicious.

Not a Jewish deli at all. I order an Italian club with ham, salami and cheddar. 1st time, they give me a panini. I go back, make sure they understand it's just a club sandwich with no turkey, still with tomato and lettuce and with oil and vinegar. I get the meat and cheese with what I think is Italian dressing and no lettuce or tomato. This is the 3rd time I've been there and the 2nd time am order was completely wrong.

The place did not appear that busy when we walked in and ordered 3 breakfast burritos. We were not told any wait time for the food but proceeded to sit in a booth and wait for over an hour. We watched as more people came in and they began telling customers wait times were an hour or more. Occasionally there appeared to be take out orders picked up. We got our food after 70 minutes and it was good, but not nearly worth the wait.

Great food and amazing service. Came to LB for a weekend getaway and decided to stop by for a little bite with my wife and little four legged buddy. After looking at all the delicious items on the menu my wife and I decided to go for the Turkey Sandwich, Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, and the Buffalo Chicken Fries (No cheese, no sour cream). They sell alcohol so I went for an IPA. They have an outdoor section in the back so we sat down and had a nice time. The sun was out, the wind was fresh, and once the food came we had a great meal. The woman that took our order even brought a little puppachino for our little guy. If you're hungry and in the mood for some sandwiches or hamburgers, pay this place a visit.

Ah yes, the corned-beef sandwich — a classic. A deli staple. A monument to meat, mustard & mildly questionable heart health. But this one? This one was less "New York deli" & more "gas station adjacent." First off, the mustard. My God, the mustard. It was so yellow I needed sunglasses to stop it from burning my retina! Now the rye bread. Or should I say, "white bread in disguise"? I’ve seen more rye at an Irish wedding. Not a single seed. Not even the ghost of a caraway. It was the rye equivalent of wearing a Metallica shirt & not knowing any of the songs. The corned beef? Listen, I know grocery store meat when I taste it. This was steamed, sure, which is like putting a tuxedo on a raccoon. Fancy, but still a raccoon. I swear I saw the Safeway logo branded into one slice. And the final insult? No pickles. NONE! What am I supposed to do, bring my own? Is this BYOP now? The sandwich felt incomplete, like a movie that ends mid-sentence or a date where they just get up and leave after the appetizers. Anyway, two stars because I didn't die. Would I eat it again? Only if I lost a bet. Or the will to live. Bon appétit… I guess.

Best Reuben sandwich in town love this place come on down and buy me one I will meet you there thanks always a pleasure Here, let me get this right. I was here about 11 months ago and showed app today to order the same sandwich. Not only to my surprise, I did not get my pickle and my salad was. Barely enough to feed the ant The quality of the sandwich has gone down quite a bit and has diminished. I am totally dissatisfied. Come on, guys quality first you Jack up the price and the quality goes down. I have been with you since you were on Atlantic. Way back in the day and have always ordered pretty much the same thing. What's going on reach out to me And if not you You will find me at curley's in Signal Hill.

Denny's is a beloved casual diner chain that serves up classic American comfort food, making it a go-to spot for all-day breakfast cravings. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty Lumberjack Slam featuring buttermilk pancakes and an array of proteins or prefer something lighter like the Fit Slam with egg whites and fresh veggies, there's something to satisfy every palate.
Maruf (the general manager) is OUTSTANDING ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Every time I step in, he never fails to greet me with enthusiasm and joy! He listens to my order to the tee and doesn’t hesitate to make conversation or provide compliments. His staff especially the kitchen when they’re not busy say hello and speak 👋🏾 This is rare in the restaurant industry these days! You can tell they enjoy serving others. The quality of the food doesn’t miss! The pancakes are still big, homemade taste and fulfilling. Only $3.69 for a stack of pancakes and when you add 2 more it’s $2.00. You also can’t beat their buy one get one $1 grand slam 😍

The staff was amazing, food came out really quickly, and it was hot and delicious. This is my first time having tea, and the presentation was great. Mario was a great server. He’s very attentive and observant; my mom‘s coffee was too cold. He made her another pot.

This is my local Denny’s and I absolutely love it. I’m a regular and always coming after a late shift since they are one of the few locations that are 24 hour dine-in. Norma is normally always the closing shift employee on the clock and is always attentive when it comes to our service.

We had such a great experience at Denny’s thanks to our server, Frank! From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered a breakfast plate and my friend had a steak, both meals were delicious and came out just the way we wanted. Frank checked in often and made us feel really taken care of. Excellent service and great food, we’ll definitely be coming back to this location when we’re in the area.

Modest, easygoing stop with a small patio & typical items like tacos, enchiladas & imported beer.
Head to Leo's for the best Taco Tuesday deal in town! This place never disappoints and the service is pretty quick! (considering how busy they get for lunch) You can choose from all the traditional options like chicken, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas for street taco style. Or try the fried potato taco to mix things up. My current favorite is the fish taco, which is served with pico, lettuce and spicy mayo. Regardless of the preference, these tacos are $1.75 on Tuesdays (and Fridays). I also grabbed an order of chips and salsa for $1. They have a fresh salsa bar with all the accoutrements including 4 different salsa varieties, limes, onions, cilantro and marinated veggies. I have also swooped in on non-taco days for breakfast burritos which are also super delicious. I do wish this place had margaritas, but I'm not going to deduct a star for that. Edit: shout out to Ashley who takes all the orders and never gets it wrong!

Leo's was an intimate lunch with above average Mexican fare. The chips and salsa were very tasty, but I didn't adore my quesadilla. Our nachos were tasty however.
Jeremy Y — Google review
Stopped in while on vacation. Got their tacos for 1.75$ each which runs on Tuesday and Fridays. Overall the food was good, slightly dry but had good flavor. Their salsa bar had 3 different salads and a variety of other selections. 1.75$ draft beers are bud light only ans come in a paper cup vs a mug but overall was about 1 beers worth of liquid. Almost no foam head either. Definitely would recommend coming in for their tacos. Not sure about the rest of the menu.

My husband ordered the machaca plate that was delicious. I ask for the cheeseburger with fries (my bad). The taste of the machaca plate was way better than my order. But we have a good time here. Taste of Mexico in Long Beach. 👍 Good service. Love the people 💕 Cozy place. 🙂

A casual spot with authentic flavors. Their al pastor tacos are carved fresh off the spit and topped with pineapple. The salsa bar has several spicy options. Prices are low and portions are generous. It’s a go-to for a quick lunch.

Great place for Taco Tuesday and Friday, $1.75 tacos all day! That deal makes this place a real taco company! The breakfast burritos are awesome too! You might occasionally have leftover tacos. Soft corn tortillas warmup nicely in a 400° oven for about 12 minute of cooking time. Wrap the tacos in foil and let them bake. got tacos?

This longtime regional chain dishes up diner standards in homey digs. The pies are excellent, and the waitress (Danna) was very good. Highly recommend you try them out!
Pie bites are amazing! Crust was so flaky and fresh, I thought since they were in a container maybe they wouldn't be. I love Polly's pies, I've been watching my weight and literally wanted a little something sweet! I definitely recommend. Melanie was the best, so kind and inviting. The general manager Robin was so personable and inviting as well! Loved my experience, thank you and will return again for more pie, and Thanksgiving feast😋
Shannon S — Google review
LB Polly’s service and food has really decreased significantly. Today my husband and I had breakfast and it was bad. There was one server, when I say ‘in a rush’, short of running, I mean it. As we ordered, he was so in a rush we almost didn’t get in details of our full order, and yes, his irritation was obvious. When he delivered our drinks, he dropped it on our table while rushing to his next task. My husband and I just looked at each other in disbelief. We understood he was the only server and we were patient. Then the food comes. I wished we just left. My country fried steak was way overcooked it was hard. Toast was way cold the butter on it didn’t melt. The one star rating is for the eggs. Everything else was bad. We pay more money for food and it’s so disheartening when these servers or whoever runs its operations can’t maintain good food, good service when met with challenges like staff shortage. I was raised in LB and now live in Norwalk whose Polly’s location is excellent. We were in the neighborhood cause we work in LB. I’ve experienced too many misses and heard the same from family and friends for this Polly’s already giving the benefit of a doubt, but we will no longer visit this establishment. Good things do come to an end and this is one of them for us.

We were pleasantly surprised. The food was good. Our server ( Jagger) was fast with the order and had a great attitude. We'd definitely go again when we want a quick bite out.
Jim D — Google review
“Thrown Out Like the Pies – A Lesson in Poor Customer Service” I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Polly’s Pies deserves a public spotlight – for all the wrong reasons. If I could’ve left a negative star I would. I arrived just before 9 PM, hoping to grab a slice of what they’re supposedly known for: pie. Instead, I was met with an employee who informed me (without a hint of flexibility) that “we throw all our pies out at 9pm so we don’t have any pies available.” Let that sink in: a pie restaurant throws away its product – not a few minutes after closing, not when the kitchen’s shut down – but exactly at 9 PM. The kicker? It was barely a minute past and there were people still in the restaurant dining. I wasn’t asking for a full meal or special treatment, just a single apple pie, the product your name is built on. But apparently, customer service clocks out at the same time the pies hit the trash. To say the experience was frustrating would be an understatement. I called 2 times while on my way so they knew I was coming and I left empty-handed, while supposedly perfectly good pies went into the trash. I understand closing times, but I also understand basic hospitality and customer service – something Polly’s clearly doesn’t. If your policy is to prioritize trash cans over customers, maybe it’s time to reconsider what business you’re in. Do better, Polly’s. Or at the very least, stop pretending you’re about pies when the garbage gets better service than willing paying patrons.
O. B — Google review
Old school diner atmosphere with amazing food. The pictures didn’t look great but the meal was delicious and felt homemade. Shoe string fries were crispy, burger was great, pasta was great. The ranch is a must try, it was definitely a house ranch rather than a pre bottled sauce and it was phenomenal. Good menu selection, lots of different pies, and our server was a very nice young man. It was super quiet, not very busy for a week night, and it was super cheap.

GO FOR THE LEMON MERINGUE PIE! Polly’s Pies is a part of Long Beach history for me and I always enjoy going back for a quick lunch and some pie. We had the Prime Rib French Dip and it was fresh and tasty, the basket with onion rings that were hot and crispy and the Pie was classically delicious. Unpretentious, confortable and satisfying.

Grounds Bakery & Cafe is a family-owned bakery cafe with fresh bread, muffins and bagels, as well as breakfast and lunch menus. The cafe was frequented by the parents of the owner before they both passed away, and it has since been relocated to town. The hot pastrami sandwich was enjoyed by the reviewer (through tears) and the death by chocolate mousse was especially popular with them. They will definitely be back!
Love love love Grounds. Used to come here every week when I lived in LB. Recently visited after a couple years and it’s just as delicious as I remember it. I got the LOX on an everything bagel stick. I’ve had such about anything and everything on their menu from coffee to bagels to cupcakes and everything is delicious. Such a lovely family owned coffee shop. Staff is always friendly and welcoming.
Alayna L — Google review
I've been to this location several times, and it's not bad. I ordered an Everything bagel with veggie cream cheese this morning that was a bit disappointing. The (stick) bagel appeared to have only sesame & poppy seeds on it, I didn't see or taste any onion/garlic/salt, and the thin smear of cream cheese was a bit disappointing too, especially since the cream cream cheese was much more than the bagel (as expected). I'll have to try it again another time. I also had a boxed lunch from here recently, which is pretty good. I tried the chicken salad sandwich for the first time. I didn't care for the flavor. There were large chunks of water chestnuts (I think) that overpowered the chicken. I removed several of them after a couple of bites because there were just too many. (I forgot to take photos.) Overall, Grounds is a good spot to get breakfast items or lunch.

The BEST almond croissant that I have had anywhere. Great sandwiches - bread can make or break a good sandwich and they certainly succeed in this regard. I only wish that their delivery menu included coffee drinks, hence the four stars rather than five. Happy to have such a great local business here in the LBC!

So I had a rough day, needed a cheeseburger and it was just the right amount of greasy and lettuce I needed. The patty was charred just right. My husband also felt the same way about his burger. Stopped in for a Saturday "brunch" while on vacation and was pleasantly surprised. The service was warm and welcoming, and the menu offered a great mix of coffee, non-coffee drinks, and unique food options. The coffee was excellent, and everything we ordered was delicious. A standout was the fig jam, Brie, and apple toast — absolutely incredible! The eclectic music playing in the background added a fun, laid-back energy that really enhanced the experience. Our total (3 people) came to just over $60, which was a bit more than expected, but given the quality of the food, service, and overall atmosphere, it felt well worth it.

I ordered two pancakes, 2 eggs (over easy) with bacon, eggs were cooked perfectly overeasy, bacon was crispy, but I did not like the pancakes, though, they were so thick and tasted a little undercooked and the maple syrup was too sugary. The service was great, and the omelets were very good! The order plates are huge, that even they use two plates for one order. We will come back soon!

We ordered the Popeye, and the spin/jack. We got the blueberry pancake, the granola pancake, the home fries and the biscuit and gravy. Everything was good, except for the biscuit and gravy. It was bland, there was no flavor. The granola pancake was good but had a strange texture, given that we got to try it and a blueberry pancake, definitely get the non granola, it is more pancake like (light and fluffy).

Eggs is what I would describe as the old school style cafe that you are always looking for to provide that consistent comfort and good food! The service is stellar (everyone is super friendly), they keep the “cafe black coffee” always topped off and just right, and food is EGGcelent. Personally my go-to favorite is the french toast, but the home fries are baller! I’ve tried several of the breakfast cafes in the area and this one is by far the best - been here 4 weekends in a row.

Small and simple bagel shop with so many bagel options! Service was fast and friendly . I had the lox, cream cheese, onions and capers on the jalapeño cheese bagel. Was absolutely delicious! I didn’t find the jalapeño in the bagel to be spicy at all but it was a nice taste :) Will definitely go back

Board says 1.80 for a bagel and .50 for cream cheese on bagels, gourmet bagels and croissants but the woman ringing me up said I had to pay 3.49 for cream cheese. I paid left and went to eat me somehow both slightly burnt and cold, stale egg bagel with a thin layer of soupy cream cheese. Wouldn’t have left a review but while I was sitting her a man working there came how to loudly explain to me how to read and I said it’s okay like 4-5x before he would just leave me alone. I thought they were so busy because it’s a great place but I’m pretty sure it’s because it’s the only bagel spot. Really don’t care so much about being charged a dollar or so more, I just wish the bagels were good.
Danielle B — Google review
Long time local ex-customer, consistently disappointed. Bagels are always burnt, pizza bagel was flavorless, and don’t get me started with their salmon bagel, the “5th Ave bagel”…it’s the worst lox bagel in LB (Anna’s Joint and East Village Cafe are by far the best, I did my research🤓). Overpriced and they give you about $2 worth of lox. Normally they dump an ungodly amount of bitter sprouts on top, useless garnish that you have to pick off that gets stuck in the cream cheese. Last time I asked them to omit the sprouts so they seemed to have dumped an enter onion on my bagel instead (photo included), it was disgusting. So tired of this place being so mid yet overpriced, I’ve given them too many chances. (I’ll caveat that their pastries are good….but they’re a bagel place.)
Natalie — Google review
On my third visit to the bagelry I recieved a slant cut bagel, robbing me of 40% of my cream cheese! However, great customer service and speed are certainly not in short supply here as they replaced it in less than two minutes. Great iced vietnemese coffee, fantastic bagels, dont miss it.

This was a tuna salad sandwich for $15. I had to use a magnifying glass to find the actual tuna on here. They should call it the BYOT, bring your own tuna cause I ended up using my own can to make it an actual sandwich.
Joe B — Google review
For my first visit, I had high hopes; at the very least a friendly face, with a smile, at the counter. That wasn’t the case. My wife and I were excited to visit, but with the attitude at the cashier and the attitude from the barista, I’d rather not come back and treated as a bother, an obstacle, an inconvenience. Rush hour is real, but at least have a good attitude. The only smile we got was from the very friendly bagel server. I hope things get better with some competition around the corner coming soon. For a total of 45$ for two bagels and two drinks, I’m good. I’ve had better at yum yum. Shouldn’t have left a $5 tip but I’m nice.

Delicious Bagels with a Side of Charm Rating: 5/5 stars The 5th Avenue Bagelry is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the city. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked bagels fills the air, setting the stage for a delightful culinary experience. The variety of bagels offered is impressive, ranging from classic plain to adventurous flavors like everything and blueberry. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a recommendation if you're unsure what to try. Whether you're in the mood for a simple toasted bagel with cream cheese or a loaded breakfast sandwich, they've got you covered. One of my favorite aspects of this place is its cozy atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick bite on your way to work or to linger over a leisurely brunch with friends on the weekend. Plus, the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. In summary, 5th Avenue Bagelry is a must-visit for any bagel enthusiast or food lover in town. Trust me; you won't be disappointed!

Top 4 reasons why this mom & pop establishment has the best bagels I've ever eaten: 1. They season BOTH sides of the bagel well. 2. High quality bread - crunchy on the outside (i ask for double toast) and soft/chewy on the inside 3. Generous portion of cream cheese. Jalapeno variety is fire. 4. Pair with the vanilla nut coffee brew and you've got yourself the perfect breakfast on-the-go combo. I've been coming here for years with my family and this review is well past overdue. Nevertheless, I am happy to support small business!

Denny's is a beloved casual diner chain that serves up classic American comfort food, making it a go-to spot for all-day breakfast cravings. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty Lumberjack Slam featuring buttermilk pancakes and an array of meats, or something lighter like the Fit Slam with egg whites and turkey bacon, there's something for everyone.
Came here around 4am after the gym and wanted to get a good meal before my shift. Norma gave the best service any could ask for. Made me feel very welcomed. She's so very sweet and honest worker. Felt like I was having a meal at my moms :)) when she seen I didn't like bananas she gave me extra grapes and strawberries. Definitely prefer this location over the downtown one.

Great breakfast and service! I’ve been to many Denny’s in my day and this definitely one of the best. It was clean including the restroom. The food was fresh and yummy. Efren G was awesome. He was helpful and attentive providing service with a smile.

It was my daughter's birthday and we went to Denny's after the Chappell Roan concert. Norma is our favorite server. She even sang happy birthday with us! We always appreciate her great service. We feel very welcomed. The food was also yummy, especially the cookie dough dessert!

I love coming to this location. It's close to campus & the hours I come in have such friendly staff, especially Norma. In the late hours of the night & early morning, there aren't many other people here so my order comes out lightning fast. I also love that I can hear the music of the back of house plays which are bangers. Highly recommend for anyone to swing by here if you ever need a late night bite.

Today I am celebrating my Mom’s birthday by coming to one of her favorite restaurants that we used to go to growing up.🥰She passed away 26 years ago, but I celebrate her birthday as if she never left. I was going to cook breakfast, but decided to come here instead. I am so happy I did because it brought back some great memories of me and my Mother eating here like we did when I was growing up. The service is really good and the food was just as good. I didn’t have to wait long at all.😋My server Jenny was friendly and had great energy. The Manager who seated me was very kind, thoughtful and made sure I had everything I needed. This is definitely my go to Denny’s and I’m so happy I got a chance to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. I’ll be back to get the steak and egg breakfast next week. I’m sure it’s just as delicious as the breakfast I had today.

Josue was one of the best servers, the kitchen cooked a great burger and treated us amazingly. 10/10 would come back again to spend time eating their delicious food.

Loved my meal at Denny's on PCH and Ultimo Ave! 😋 The 55+ omelet with hash browns, biscuits, and gravy was super yummy. The restaurant was spotless, and our server was so sweet and attentive. Highly recommend this location for a delicious, comforting meal! 🍳🥓 #Dennys #BreakfastGoals

IHOP is a well-established chain known for its wide selection of pancakes and classic American breakfast and diner dishes. The restaurant offers a clean and friendly environment with efficient service. While their dinner options are not as impressive as their breakfast items, they are reasonably priced. Customers can expect delicious food choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The wait time to secure a table in the morning was approximately 15 minutes, which felt reasonable given the busy atmosphere. Once seated, I was impressed by the exceptional customer service; the staff was attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure we had everything we needed for a pleasant dining experience. As for the food, it absolutely exceeded my expectations. Each dish was not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared, showcasing a delightful variety of flavors and ingredients that catered to different tastes. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I was pleased to find such a diverse menu offering many culinary options.

I can't believe this IHOP is still around. Bless it's little heart. Haven't been here in decades. Was in area and needed to kill some time plus hungry for some pancakes. I wasn't disappointed. Had banana and strawberry pancakes with hashbrowns, eggs and pork sausages. Friend had the oreo waffles with the same as me but bacon. Eggs tasted artificial but looked real fluffy. Food was tasty and we gobbled it down with the exception of the eggs. Hashbrowns made like I requested, crispy. Service was cool. No complaints. Bathroom was clean but looked extremely old. Glad to see IHOP holding it down for the locals. Meal total was roughly $45

My boyfriend and I had breakfast here. Since we look pretty young, it felt like the server didn’t give us as much attention as she did the older guests seated next to us. She took their food and drink orders right away, while we had to wait quite a bit. The food itself tasted good, but I didn’t like how the pancakes were slapped right on top of the eggs and bacon. Also, it was odd that the hash browns were cut into a rectangle shape which I wasn’t a fan of that presentation.

I've been driving past this IHOP location often and finally gave it a try. Great location, friendly service, nice layout, clean...and best Benny's I've had in a while. Very generous with the ingredients - including the avo -, eggs and bacon cooked to perfection 😋

The food is what you expect, nothing terrible. There’s plenty of shared parking with the shopping center. Our waitress, Maribel was great! She was the only waitress and hostess available. Maribel made sure our drinks were topped off, orders brought out as ordered and in a timely manner. That included the 5+ other parties in the restaurant.

After an unexpected flat tire experience earlier my friend and I enjoyed a great meal at IHOP on Bellflower. Service was a little slow but the food was hot and yummy.

First-ever IHOP but I was so surprised by the taste of the food! Expected it to be more "plain", but the omelette, chicken-pesto crêpes, double blueberry pancakes and classic eggs benedict with hash browns were all so scrumptious 🤤 Portions were large, tasty, and the service was excellent too: the staff kept asking us whether we needed anything. Outside seating is available. Very good experience and would love to go here again! 😄

I had breakfast sampler, it had Sunny side up eggs, bacon, ham and fried potato. The hot chocolate was very thin and didn’t taste good at all. However, I loved butter pan cakes and Original Maple Syrup. My friends ordered Chocolate Chip and Blueberry pan cakes and they tastes amazing too. I gave 5 starts only because I ignored Hot Chocolate and tastes the amazing rest of the items.

Nestled in a charming corner, Cozy Crepes Cafe is the perfect spot for anyone craving delicious crêpes and a taste of Euro-Cali cuisine. This inviting venue offers an array of options, including gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, ensuring there's something for everyone. The warm ambiance is enhanced by soothing decor and delightful music that instantly makes you feel at home.
Lovely woman-owned cafe! The decor, the music, and ambiance is so soothing and calm! There is immediate warmth when you walk into this place, especially when you're greeted with then most sincere smiles. I stumbled upon this gem by accident going to the laundromat next door. Definitely recommend for a place to catch up with good friends, for business meetings, while waiting on the laundry machines, to study, or just a pleasant place to relax.

I used to live nearby and barely came across this crepe cafe. Originally we were looking for a breakfast place and this popped up on Google. The cafe itself is very cozy (lives up to the name lol) and we were given a warm welcome by the staff. We ordered both the sweet and savory crepes and they were delicious! Wish I knew about it sooner but I'll definitely be back. Service, food, ambiance were great and I highly recommend to anyone with a crepe craving.

We had a great lunch today at The Gathering Cafe. I had the Arc de Triumph crepe and it was delicious, I would get it again. My mom had the Chicken Marsala which comes highly recommended, it was really delicious. The crepes are generous so I think two people could easily split, unless one person is very hungry. The Thai iced tea is also so good and refreshing.

We are lucky to live near this family establishment. They make some of our favorite crepes. Although they have been affected by the recent egg prices, they keep making quality food.

Great food and service. Stopped by while we were on vacation and the food was excellent. Great breakfast/lunch/coffee selection. Staff was very pleasant. Definitely a place to stop by if you are in town or a place to make your local breakfast go to.

The atmosphere here makes seem like you're coming to have a meal among friends. Even if you're alone. It's very warm and friendly. Disservice is great. I wish this place many blessings in their endeavors

Came here for the first time recently and we truly enjoyed our experience! The crepes were delicious and very unique! I got a peach and cottage cheese crepe with mango sauce. It was unreal! Beautiful atmosphere inside too. They have a unique drink menu. We will definitely be back!
