Morning Glory is a trendy eatery in downtown San Diego that offers a global breakfast and brunch experience with a stylish ambiance. The restaurant's interior features Instagram-worthy elements such as rose-gold accents, tiled floors, pink booths, and unique wallpaper designs. It's a popular spot, especially on Saturday mornings, so be prepared for a wait. The menu boasts an array of pancake options, including classic and Japanese-style souffle pancakes with whipped cream.
Let's start with the bad. Uncoordinated individuals like myself, beware of the barstools. They are tippy. Other than that the service was friendly and knowledgeable. The menu was so fun and the entire esthetic of the place was just perfect. You could show up dressed to the nines or in jeans and a comfy shirt ( I even saw someone in pjs) and feel welcomed at home. The mixture of patterns and textures was eclectic but made looking around so much fun. For food I had the breakfast carbonara and my partner had the souffle pancakes. The carbonara was rich but not too heavy with flavorful pieces of pork belly and just a touch of spice. The pasta was expertly cooked and the entire dish was satisfying. My husband said the pancakes were sweet enough without syrup he added berries and cream on the side which added too the tastiness of the dish. I had the old fashion and the bananas in pajamas. Both drinks were liquor forward with sweet finishes, but the old fashion had a more deep flavor profile while the banana drink was more like a piña colada with creamy notes.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday to celebrate my son’s birthday. The venue is visually impressive, with a lively atmosphere and a strong sense of energy that explains its popularity. The wait for a table was just over an hour for a party of four. In terms of the menu, vegan options were limited. I selected the pancakes, which arrived in a generous portion. Unfortunately, the texture was very dense, making them difficult to enjoy, and I was unable to finish the dish. The coffee, however, was very good, and nondairy milk was available. Service was adequate but unremarkable. While staff acknowledged our birthday celebration with a glitter-infused shot, only one was brought to the table, which felt like an incomplete gesture for a group of four. Overall, while the atmosphere was enjoyable and my son appreciated the experience, the quality of the food and the service details suggest there is room for improvement.

Alright this is a bit of a hard one. We visited twice during Twitchcon weekend. Once on Thursday morning, and then once on Tuesday afternoon. Thursdays visit was very pleasant, delicious food, excellent service, and good drinks. Tuesday however, the day I write this, for some reason had a completely different vibe. Despite ordering the same dish, it was drastically different. I enjoyed their Steak and Eggs on my first visit, but upon second review my steak was tough and chewy, with fried onions that were completely soggy with grease. The “dirty” hash-browns gravy was thick and tasted of cream and the bottom of someone’s shoe. I really dislike leaving negative reviews, but I was really disappointed with our second visit, especially with such a stellar performance the first time around. Overall? This may be a hit or miss venue, with some stellar items and some that may fail to meet expectations. Unfortunately the bad experience sort of rained on our last day together. Not to mention syrup is a $5 up charge on dishes that really need it.
Ravenview V — Google review
They definitely pass the vibe check! So beautiful inside. Great music. Amazing staff. The food & drinks are so fire. The steak and eggs are my favorite. The fried rice smacks! The soufflé pancakes- DELICIOUS! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Kailee was our server on our first visit. She was a delight. Our experience was so great that we doubled back a second day (before leaving SD). Jacob’s service was wonderful as well. It was a true pleasure meeting Thomas too! Very friendly & made us feel like part of the family. Can’t wait to visit again when I’m in San Diego!
Nesh M — Google review
I visited this charming restaurant with a lovely pink-themed interior that gives off a soft, welcoming vibe. The ambience is one of the highlights—really pretty and perfect for a casual brunch outing. It’s the kind of place you want to spend time in, soaking up the atmosphere. That said, be prepared for a bit of a wait—our turn took about an hour in the wait-list, which could be a dealbreaker if you’re really hungry or in a rush. The food was an absolute delight. The souffle pancakes were the standout—fluffy, light, and they practically melt in your mouth. Definitely the highlight of the meal! We also tried their orange and vanilla hot chocolate, which was comforting and a lovely twist on the classic. It had a nice balance of sweetness and flavor, perfect for sipping while relaxing. We also opted for Khachapuri, which was a nice, fulfilling addition. The cheesy, doughy goodness really hit the spot and felt hearty without being too heavy. The only downside was the service—the staff seemed quite busy and not very attentive. It wasn’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement in that area. Overall, I’d still recommend this place for a leisurely brunch. Great ambience, good food, and a menu that offers a nice mix of comfort and novelty.

This was an interesting experience. The service was fantastic in my opinion. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They did joke around which was fun because I hate getting a robot when trying to order food. I ordered the morning wood old fashioned, and the chilaquiles with Birria on top. The old fashioned was perfect. It had a nice blueberry flavor you could just taste a hint of. I loved it! The chilaquiles were good, not great but good. They had a decent flavor and the chips were cooked extremely nice! However the problem I ran into was the Birria, this might have been the most bland pile of meat I’ve ever had. Even my girlfriend hated it. I had to pull it off and put it on the side of the plate. I don’t know if this was just a bad day for their Birria, but I won’t even give it another chance that’s how bad it was. Overall id come back again, the service was great, drinks were on point, and the food minus one thing was excellent. I’d love to give their other foods a chance.

Went twice during a weekend trip to San Diego - that’s how much we liked this place! Food is yummy - got the Turkish eggs the 1st time and carbonara the 2nd and the carbonara was the winner. Super friendly service and the vibes were immaculate! Very aesthetic in there with an even better music playlist. Will say it gets quite busy but worth the wait. Will be back upon my return to SD!
Nakeisha W — Google review
Great brunch place! They have some very interesting options to choose from and does not restrict itself to one type of cuisine. The khachapuri and the lobster omelet both were pretty good. The best dish we had was the souffle pancakes, it was very gooey, warm in the middle and was very well made. A must try if you are a brunch lover. The restaurant doesn't take reservations and you have to be there to get on the list. Also the wait time can be pretty high and we had to wait 35 minutes to get in.

Breakfast Republic is a popular breakfast spot with a fun and quirky atmosphere, offering inventive breakfast dishes, craft beer, and cocktails. It's suitable for families, groups, tourists, vegetarians, and brunch enthusiasts. With multiple locations in San Diego and SoCal, the restaurant takes breakfast seriously while maintaining a playful sense of humor. They offer seasonal drinks like Pomegranate Mimosa and Iced Cereal Milk Latte along with their famous Jurassic Pork Bloody Mary.
Breakfast Republic was a memorable breakfast experience for my husband & I during our stay in SD. I was hesitant to order the Chilaquiles but omg I am so glad that I did. They were delicious! I paired it with Cafe de Olla also SO good. My husband got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. The service was great. Overall I’ll definetly return next time we are in town.

I am not a big breakfast person, but I could eat here daily (if only there was one in my backyard)! The food was awesome. We enjoyed the omelet and "pancake flight." And oh, the mimosa was the best I have had in a really long time! Will plan to eat here any and every time we visit beautiful San Diego!

Big shout out to Marissa and Gustavo who were the most personable and sweet servers. We loved this place for our first breakfast in San Diego. It seems that I give 5 stars often but if I could give a 10 it would be here at the Breakfast Republic. Best avocado toast anywhere (which is my go to when eating out for bfast) adding an over-medium cooked egg. Hubs ordered shrimp and grits which is a highly desired dish here. Ambiance is relaxing and laid back.
Trish W — Google review
Breakfast Republic was an absolute delight. The food was great. The service was super fast and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Gustavo at the G street location was the best!! I loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant and it’s clearly a fan favorite based on how much business was coming through! If you’re looking for great fast service stop by.

Got myself a breakfast jambalaya, which was absolutely phenomenal. Between my friends, they got pancakes, steak and eggs, and french toasts that all seemed very tasty. My only gripe is that our receptionist didn't seem too friendly when we asked for a table of 14 and that we had to wait a decent while despite some tables being empty inside. Otherwise the food and service was pretty good.
Jaewon L — Google review
If you’re in San Diego and craving a lively breakfast spot that knows how to start your day right, Breakfast Republic is worth a stop! I ordered the jalapeño sausage and bacon omelet, and it was packed with flavor: spicy, tangy, and downright addictive. The jalapeño sausage had just the right kick, and their homemade hot sauce tied it all together perfectly. My husband went for the breakfast burrito, which came loaded with eggs, cheese, and all the good stuff, plus a side of rice and beans. The burrito was tasty, though the sides could use a little extra seasoning to really make them pop. The portions were huge (come hungry!), the food came out hot, and the service was swift and friendly: shout-out to Adrianna, who took great care of us and kept the vibe upbeat and fun.
Wandering L — Google review
Great experience. Don't be fooled by the long line- it actually goes by quick. We signed up and walked around, all other breakfast spots in the area, had longer wait times. People are super friendly and so open to give recommendations- which were on point. I tried the shrimp grits- I love them and figured if I didn't like them- my family was willing to share their food (which was basic traditional breakfast- so you can't mess it up). My shrimp and grits were so good and their brussel sprouts were amazing- don't worry they might look a little burnt but they were so good. We tried their three-pancakes as well (don't judge, lol.. yes, it might have looked like a lot on our table but we needed to eat enough to hold us over for our long drive home). Anyhow, our fave was for sure the pineapple pancake. No regrets here, we will def be back here the next time we're in San Diego.
Maria R — Google review
Popular and busy brunch spot in downtown San Diego. The food is good with some vegetarian options. They do a good job managing the crowd. Parking will be difficult to find since its in the downtown. We ordered Avocado Toast and 2 Veggie Breakfast Toastadas. Both of then were 4.5/5.

Hash House A Go Go is a trendy chain that offers innovative American brunch and dinner dishes, along with their famous Bloody Marys. The restaurant takes a farm-to-table approach, serving up generous portions of Midwestern-inspired food. Their signature dish is the towering sage fried chicken and waffles topped with bacon. The restaurant prides itself on providing great value, delicious food, and excellent service while building relationships with customers and the community.
Went there last hour of brunch time! Their portions are ginormous- they’re known for that! We got the chicken something Benedict - great layers and good complementing flavors. The French Banana Latte was really good. Not too sweet but great flavor for sure! The server was great and attentive. We sat in a little squished in corner, I didn’t care for that. But overall good everything 😁 worth a try if you’ve never been 🤷🏻‍♀️
Sadda S — Google review
Amazing experience! Food was PHENOMENAL! Be very hungry or share a plate because the portions are huge! Food was very tasty and fruits were fresh. Service was 10/10. We were seated outside on the patio and it was the perfect vibe. Recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait on certain days.
Cherisse S — Google review
The best brunch spot in California! You gotta bring your appetite as the portions are colossal! You can honestly order a plate and share with someone else. This place was so delicious that we had to return the following day! The lavender/mint and watermelon lemonade were both incredible! Not too sweet and you can taste the fruit a true 5 out of 5! The menu is incredible with ample breakfast and lunch options. There was a specialty menu on a smaller paper. My wife ordered a crab Benedict. A blue crab cake on top of a biscuit with fried egg and some type of sauce. This dish was excellent and the combination worked well together and was a 5 out of 5! The banana foster French toast tasted as good as it looks! I would rate a 4.4 out of 5. The pineapple upside down flapjack was super delicious. Good texture and taste. I would rate a 4.6 out of 5. The sage fried chicken was a 5 out of 5 day one and a 4 out of 5 the following day. Both days the chicken was fried superb. Day one the seasoning was close to perfection! The eggs and breakfast potatoes both were good and the food presentation matched the taste. I would like to return and try the lunch menu as the meatloaf has ample good reviews. The service both days was five star! Everyone is friendly and ready to assist if needed. Would recommend anyone in the San Diego area that loves really good breakfast this is the place to visit!

Loved the huge servings plus they offer a lot of options for something to drink including espresso. Food tasted absolutely delicious. Every bite was divine. But pricey, but hey, it's CA prices. Our server is amazing! She was fast and friendly and easy to chat with even though she was super busy. Had to wait to be seated but the tables are very close to each other so it felt like we were on top of each other.
Sa C — Google review
We came at about 9am for breakfast, and the atmosphere and staff was great! Very charming, friendly and quick! The drinks here were amazing! The visuals for the food are great! The esthetic seems to be the bigger the better! However, the taste of the food needs improvement. The waffles aren't sweet, the syrup isn't sweet to make up for it, the biscuits are VERY dry, the potatoes are undercooked and unseasoned, the chicken is unseasoned, the food came out cold, and more. It just just didn't live up to the hype for us.
Wendy ( — Google review
It was my first time there. I went in the morning and was able to get in without a reservation, but the table and chairs were too high, so there were a lot of customers waiting nearby right in front of the entrance, and the servers had to pass by a lot, so I couldn't enjoy a leisurely breakfast. I asked for a lower, more spacious table, but they refused. That was the only drawback. The latte was way too sweet too much sugar, too much whipped cream. The egg Benedict was ok egg was over cooked. Too much portion and the taste wasn’t that great.
T M — Google review
A must-try for breakfast in San Diego! The food is delicious, portions are huge, and the service is always great. My go-to is the Sage Fried Chicken & Waffles – the fried chicken is perfectly seasoned and juicy, and the waffles are amazing with sweet and salty bacon bits. The sage adds a unique, delicious flavor.
Daniel P — Google review
I am writing this review while I am eating my food. By far one of the best brunch places in the world. The staff are extremely friendly. I asked them for a watermelon lemonade for my little one. When they served , requested if it can come later and they made a completely new fresh one. The food is outstanding and the staff extremely friendly. It is a must go to while visiting San Diego

Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, is a vibrant and retro chain that offers a creative seasonal menu for breakfast and lunch along with cocktails. Despite being the runner-up for the best brunch in San Diego, this spot is a dream for those looking to tantalize their taste buds. The restaurant has a colorful retro-futuristic vibe and reinvents breakfast daily. Their pancake flight offers fluffy, syrup-laden options while their benedicts come with unique twists on hollandaise sauce.
You can tell we loved it by our last photo! Ha. This place is incredible. I have been to a couple of locations and this one was just as amazing. The food is beyond delicious. My husband is still talking about his pancake and I LOVED my bravocado toast. The flavors are so good! Our server was so chill and great and the atmosphere was busy and fun. Our wait time was short for a Saturday morning and we were happy with our entire experience. 10/10

Yes, Luis... our server... this Snooze in San Diego, IS better than the one in Scottsdale! 😆 Luis was great server, friendly efficient and really did serve! The food was very good. I really enjoyed the link sausage, and the pumpkin pancakes (cooked smaller upon request) were very good. We enjoyed them just wirh butter and the pumpkin flavor popped. Nice fresh eggs, cooked as ordered. We were in a bit of a time crunch and Luis brought the check when requested. Very nice experience, especially enhanced by Luis.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast and it never disappoints. If you are looking for a good quality, then this is the place! The OMG French toast is so delicious and addictive. The atmosphere is casual and okay not like your 5 star restaurant but the customer service is good.

Our friends recommended this place, and we were so impressed with the friendly service and extensive food selections. Our server Ricky welcomed us by letting us know the menu was very flexible and they were willing to work with us. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. Reasonably priced and a variety of portion sizes to match your needs.

A little old school diner, A little brunch vibe, a LOT of delicious. I’ve been to snooze a handful of times, each time there is a new cocktail or entree I’m obsessed with! A must-try for breakfast and booze lovers alike!

Google doesn’t apparently like it when I copy and paste my FB review of this place so I made it as a photo since I’m too lazy to rewrite it. Overall, this is a great spot for breakfast. Go read the first picture and you’ll see all my gripes. I gripe allot.

Really great food, service and experience overall. It was so great not to have to break the tie between the specialty pancakes and omg fresh toast by doing them all on a flight. The grits were the best ive had in a long time, no additional seasoning needed (savory). My Mr loved the gluten free pancakes and was glad he could get a pancake flight too. Sometimes, the gluten free menu is limited and he doesn't get many options, at Snooze, he had the same experience he'd have if not for the food allegey. All was very good! Everyone left full and happy.

The Fig Tree Cafe is a californian restaurant with three locations. They use fresh local produce and humanely-raised meats for their dishes, meaning that you can enjoy a hearty breakfast without feeling bad about it. The breakfast sushi is especially popular and often stands out from the rest on the menu.
Just had the best salmon Benedict at Fig Tree Cafe! It was seriously delicious! The service was a bit hit or miss, but the food is so good I'd still go back in a heartbeat. If you're planning to go, def call ahead to reserve a table, it gets pretty crowded. Overall, worth a visit!

Very nice place for a brunch !! Hearty selections. Food was delish. We had a couple of vegetarians in our group but they were able to make selections. The service was excellent- very friendly staff. We went during a long weekend and had to wait 30 mins to get a table assigned for our group of 5. Will be there again soon.

Food was really good, I got the apple fritter pancakes with bacon and eggs, pancakes were great but could have used another sauce or more syrup, a tiny container was included. Service was friendly but the place was insanely busy and I didn't get even one refill on my coffee, only saw the server again to pay the bill. Waited about 35 minutes for a party of 2 at about 11 on a Saturday.

Pretty awesome brunch. Their breakfast burrito was delicious! We arrived at a very popular time which came with an hour wait, but the hostess recommended ordering and sitting at the outside tables. Following her recommendation we ended up waiting 15 minutes for our food and she even took the time to shine with superior customer service by offering drinks and a little table service to us. Their prices are good especially considering how delicious everything tasted. Overall if you’re looking for a tasty breakfast this place does not disappoint.

We visited San Diego and the lady at our hotel suggested this place. Needless to say we ate breakfast twice while here. The food was fresh and delicious. The Mexican mocha was outstanding! Juan was our server twice and is awesome!

Super cute and quant in a fun little area that you can walk and relax. Good food and loved sitting outside. Friend is gluten free and she got a really good meal. They have tons of gluten free options!

An absolutely delicious experience, I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and yogurt and granola. The yogurt and granola were the best I've had in my entire life. I would go here again just for the yogurt and granola. Great find and highly recommended

We arrived at 7:00 am and the staff was ready to go. I had the huevos rancheros one of my favorites. Was a bit spicy but delicious. I am accustomed to a fried corn tortilla but this dish is served with corn chips. My second visit I had the huevos rancheros again and it did not disappoint.

Nestled in downtown La Jolla, The Cottage is a cozy eatery housed in a vintage home with a charming brick patio. Renowned for its delectable Californian daytime cuisine, this friendly neighborhood spot offers a warm ambiance and excellent service. Whether you choose to dine on the patio or inside the quaint Victorian-style interior, you can savor farm-fresh eggs, oatmeal pancakes, Belgian waffles, and other breakfast delights.
Really great spot for brunch. We had a seat inside and as soon as you walk inside you are instantly smacked with a sugar high from all the beautiful sweets and baked goodies. Staff is have attentive to everyone including each other. Even if you don’t have brunch here would recommend stopping in to get some tasty and fun desserts or baked goods.

The BEST French toast I’ve ever had!!! Soft moist and didn’t need a lot of syrup. Emphasis on the soft the bread was so darn fluffy and good!

We recently hosted our daughter’s wedding reception at The Cottage and it was nothing short of spectacular. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves (40 guests) for under $5000 -that is hard to find in La Jolla. They created a wonderful food & drink menu for our guests that included appetizers, entrees, beer, wine and 2 specialty cocktails. The food was phenomenal—fresh, beautifully presented, and raved about by all our guests. The atmosphere was warm and elegant and the service throughout the evening was flawless. The tables were decorated beautifully, the layout was perfect -we even had a space to dance! From the moment we started planning, the staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making the day special. We are so grateful for Una, Jason and entire staff for helping us create such a magical and memorable evening. It was everything we hoped for and more.

Nice little brunch spot. We dropped in Friday morning and it wasn’t busy at first but the place filled up quickly. Service was great and the food was very good but could use a little more seasoning. I had the house Benny which looked great and tasted fine but was just a little bland but still very good.

Lovely. Attentive servers. Food was great. Everything was cooked to perfection. Fun spot in LaJoja for brunch while on vacation in San Diego. Short wait. Street parking. Quaint. Clean.

Such a cute restaurant. Our server was absolutely amazing! Had a great system going with someone running waters and food! Best French toast I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back when I’m in the area again.

This place was highly recommended to me, and it didn’t disappoint. The cinnamon swirl pancakes, which were a must-try, were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a sweet treat. I also tried the Morning Glory sandwich, which was recommended by the staff and was quite high on the menu. The service was great, and the hot sauce they gave us was incredibly spicy and flavorful. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area.

Great Maple - Hillcrest is a contemporary restaurant located in the charming neighborhood of University Heights in San Diego. It offers a unique twist on modern American comfort food, using seasonal ingredients to create elevated dishes. The restaurant has received several awards and accolades for its delicious cuisine. Great Maple prides itself on offering a European dinette experience, combining brasserie and classic diner elements. The establishment is committed to quality, responsible products, and excellent service.
Great Maple was such an awesome spot. The vibe is lively but comfortable, and the food really stood out. Everything we ordered came out looking amazing and tasted even better. The portions are generous and the flavors were on point. From the hearty breakfast plates to the insanely good French toast stacked high with blueberries and bacon, everything was cooked perfectly. Even the cocktails were spot on—fresh, balanced, and a great complement to the food. It’s one of those places where every dish feels like it’s made with care, and you leave full and happy. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area and want a fun spot with great food and great energy.

We were sat outside because I had my puppy and honestly that was the smartest decision of the morning. Inside was so loud and packed it felt like a festival without the music. Our server was cold, I understand it was busy, but a little warmth goes a long way. The hostess and a couple of servers decided the doorway behind my husband’s chair was the perfect spot for a full conversation. They talked for a straight five minutes. That may not sound long but when you are trying to enjoy brunch with your family it feels like forever. I could barely hear my kid across the table because their chat turned into the main event. The line outside was wild if you did not have a reservation but I did. Parking was even worse. We got extremely lucky and found a spot right in front, which I will probably never pull off again. If you do a reservation you will be seated quickly, but brace yourself for the noise. The food was not bad, but it was not amazing either. Definitely not worth the price or the hype. In the end I left more drained than satisfied. Grand Maple was a one time experience for me
Jazmin S — Google review
We visited Great Maple for Sunday brunch without realizing it’s been a Michelin-recommended spot for several years, so expectations were high. The wait was about 30 minutes, which wasn’t bad considering the brunch rush, but parking was a real challenge — especially with the Hillcrest Farmers Market taking up most of the nearby spots. Inside, the restaurant is lively and full of energy, but also very loud and tightly packed. Walking space between tables is almost nonexistent, so if you value elbow room, I’d recommend sitting at the bar or ordering to-go. We ordered the chilaquiles, brisket hash, pork belly, and French toast logs. Every dish was flavorful and well-executed — meats were tender, portions generous, and nothing felt overly greasy or heavy. The brisket hash stood out for its depth of flavor, and the French toast logs were surprisingly balanced, not too sweet. Portions are large enough to share, and we definitely couldn’t finish everything. Food: 4.5/5 – Excellent flavor and texture. Ambiance: 2/5 – Too loud and cramped for comfort. Service: 3.5/5 – Friendly but stretched thin due to crowd size. Overall, I’d give Great Maple a solid 4/5. The food lives up to the Michelin mention, but next time I’ll plan ahead, share a plate, and probably skip the coffee — it was too dark and bitter for my taste.

Had a fantastic spontaneous visit to Great Maple! I enjoyed the Little Gem’s Salad—fresh and flavorful, just what I needed. Brendan went for the prime rib, and while it was great, not quite the best he’s ever had, it definitely hit the spot. We also shared the Burratta appetizer with fig, which was absolutely amazing—a definite must-try! Parking was easy, and we were lucky to have Marcos and his trainee Brendan providing top-notch, friendly service that really made our visit special. If you’re in the mood for elevated comfort food and great vibes, Great Maple is a spot you shouldn’t miss!

The Great Maple isn't just a restaurant; It's an experience that defines elevated comfort food in San Diego. From the moment you walk into the stylish, mid-century modern-inspired space in Hillcrest, you know you're in for something special. The combination of warm, sophisticated decor and the friendly buzz of happy diners creates an instantly inviting atmosphere. Let's talk about the food. Every dish is a testament to transforming American classics into something extraordinary. You absolutely must start with the Famous Maple Bacon Doughnuts—they are warm, perfectly glazed, and the savory hint of bacon makes them an addictive masterpiece. For brunch, the Smoked Brisket Hash is a powerhouse of flavor, featuring perfectly smoked meat, crispy potatoes, and runny poached eggs that tie it all together. For a main course, the Lobster Poutine is a decadent, East Coast-meets-West Coast revelation. The quality of the ingredients is evident in every bite, from the responsibly sourced seafood to the farm-fresh meat. What truly seals the five-star rating, however, is the impeccable service. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just another customer. If you're looking for a spot that delivers on style, incredible flavor, and fantastic hospitality, stop searching. The Great Maple is a must-try in San Diego for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Go, and prepare to be delighted!

I wanted to really like Great Maple because they are on the Michelin guide but some of the food was just not edible. The poached eggs were way over done and had a plastic taste, the smoked BBQ pork tasted old. The French toast was pretty tasty, maybe it depends on what you get. The proportions are wildly different, some people left the table still hungry while others had way too much food

Great food. Michelin rated. Loved all the different options! Busy but worth it. Small parking lot, but it's fine. You'll enjoy the food!

The hype is real. Clean elevated dinette. The Michelin star got me through the door. Made an early rezzy and skipped the line. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. Interior was a total vibe. Food looked amazing, and was... fine. Wanted something special (given the ticket price) but brisket hash, a milk, and a piece of pie put me out $60 after tip with no cocktail. Can say I did it. Would maybe come back for the pie?

5 stars! An absolute gem for breakfast lovers who appreciate a Mexican twist! The food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The cappuccino was just perfect: rich, smooth, and served with care. The service was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive – you instantly feel at home. Stumbled by this place in my visit to North Park, and upon entering the diner, I was greeted by the warm, inviting atmosphere that only a classic diner can provide. The friendly staff made me feel right at home, and I sat at the counter, eager to indulge in some comfort food. When my pancakes arrived, I was immediately struck by their size... huge! The were fluffy, golden-brown perfection. Stacked high and they looked absolutely irresistible. The first bite was pure bliss—soft, airy, and bursting with that homemade flavor that you just can't find in a chain restaurant. Each pancake was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crispiness on the edges. I opted for a the granola and banana toppings, but the diner also offered an array of toppings, from fresh berries to whipped cream. Overall, my pancake experience at the diner was nothing short of delightful. Whether you’re a pancake enthusiast or just looking for a comforting breakfast, I highly recommend stopping by this place.

I don’t know if they can’t smell it or it’s just my sensitivity. The inside smelled like old people diapers or sewage. We ended up sitting outside. Other than that, the service was amazing and so was the food. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. The steak breakfast was okay, was mostly a scramble more than actual steak and potatoes.

This place has amazing reviews! I may have got overhyped and then was let down :/ the vibe is perfect. Totally beachy, unassuming, laid back, clean, vibey. The staff - totally cool, relaxed, charming. The food - womp womp :( beautiful presentation, but lack of flavor and too hipster for our liking. I had seen rave reviews for the chilaquiles l, which are my fav and was the number 1 reason why we came. However, they were extremely untraditional chilaquiles with completely different flavor profiles… and this one was bland. It was spicy but had no real flavor. My husband wanted eggs and chorizo, and all they had was soy chorizo. Again, pretty hipster for us. My husband ate it, but wasn’t amazed. My son loved his strawberry banana pancakes, though, and we all ended up eating them haha (portion was huge!!!) My son ordered a chocolate milk and they brought it out looking like a cute little latte which was a fun touch. Overall the experience was good, we just wish the food had lived up to the hype!

Looking for a place to eat for brunch?? Look no further. This is a Great brunch spot in North Park to have a quick bite to eat. There’s an open patio for your dog to come join you. I love that there’s breakfast and not breakfast options. My favorite is the loco moco and coffee options. Parking is a bit hard to find but doesn’t mean it isnt a good neighborhood to walk off those calories.

The food was good, the potatoes were amazing, I really did not like the sausage, it was so so so sweet we were shocked. It actually did not taste like meat at all. That kind of taste tasted like candy. I can’t explain it. I did not like it. The eggs were some of the best eggs I’ve eaten. I love their bread too. I would come again and try other things on the menu too.

From the very first impression, everything felt welcoming and well thought out. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between lively and comfortable, making it easy to relax and enjoy the moment. The decor was tasteful, with little details that added character without being overwhelming. The service stood out as one of the strongest aspects. The staff were attentive, polite, and always ready to help, yet never overbearing. Every request was handled with a smile, and it really added to the overall experience. The food itself was outstanding. Each plate arrived beautifully presented, with aromas that set the stage for the flavors to come. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the dishes were seasoned and cooked with a level of care you don't always find. Every bite carried a nice balance of texture and flavor, showing that the kitchen knows what they're doing. Drinks were also a highlight, with a wide variety to choose from and options that paired seamlessly with the meal. By the time dessert arrived, it felt like the perfect ending dash indulgent, Satisfying, and thoughtfully prepared., it was the kind of dining experience that leaves you already planning a return visit. Greek food, genuine service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

Cody's La Jolla is a popular brunch and lunch spot known for its clever comfort food, ocean views, and great people-watching on the patio. Located above La Jolla Cove's sandy shores, this seaside cottage offers a homey atmosphere with scalloped umbrellas, wicker barstools, and indoor palms.
Had an awesome breakfast at Cody’s Place! The view is amazing, and the vibe is super chill. The staff were really friendly and made us feel right at home. We tried the Surf & Turf, steak and eggs, pancakes and an omelette. Surf and turf including omelette was super tasty and cooked just right, pancake and steak Ang egg was just alright. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. Perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed morning with great food and a view. Definitely coming back!

We had such a great experience at Cody’s! The vibe is super relaxed and welcoming, with a perfect beachy feel that matches La Jolla. The staff was really friendly and attentive. We had ordered a French toast to share and he ended up comping us because he had forgotten to put the order in initially. The food was delicious — everything tasted fresh and flavorful. We especially loved the crab cakes benedict and lobster roll, and the portions were generous. Definitely one of those spots where you can just kick back, enjoy amazing food, and soak in the San Diego atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The place was very nice and our waiter was friendly. However, the food was average and due to that felt over priced. We had an app and three entrees: crab & artichoke dip, the burger, fish & chips, and the lobster roll. The fries were not crispy enough and were kind of cold like they'd been sitting there. The dip was amazing and probably the best part. The fish while delicate had almost no seasoning. Lobster roll was good. Overall, decent but would not return.

My boyfriend surprised me with an impromptu date at Cody’s La Jolla on a post Labor Day Thursday, and we had such a great time I had to come post a review. I used to frequent their old location down the street after a morning in the ocean, but this was my first visit to their new reimagined and elevated dining experience. I ordered the highly recommended bouillabaisse for lunch while he opted for the bacon and cheddar omelette with griddled potatoes and sausage and a flat white coffee from their all day breakfast menu. Everything was fantastic. The bouillabaisse was full of perfectly cooked seafood and such a generous and portion that even after sharing the bread I took an extra meal’s worth home as leftovers. He thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast he had been craving for a while and noted the excellent coffee was served in the proper size cup. We had my dog with us, medium fifty pound size and well behaved. They were so kind to her, letting us choose a table where she’d have room to lay down out of the way, bringing her water along with ours, and while they no longer have a printed dog menu, they cooked up a plain burger patty for her that looked so good I would have stolen some if it didn’t arrive in a dog bowl. It was not too busy when we arrived but even with if all the tables were full there is plenty of space between them. Service was exceptional from the front of the house to our attentive and thoughtful servers. Thank you for a wonderful ocean view experience on this perfect weather day. We’ll definitely be back to try the crab chowder!

Cute little spot in La Jolla. We arrived about 9:30 and easily got a beautiful table. Our server Paulo was excellent. He was friendly and helpful. He even brought my husband a complimentary glass of prosecco for his birthday. We had a little hiccup when my eggs Benedict came with the eggs hard. Paulo saw it and immediately took it back. It then came out perfect. My husband’s omelet was flavorful, but just barely warm and his potatoes were cold. I’ve been here before and know that is not the usual.

I had really high expectations with everyone’s photos of the food and drinks, but unfortunately I ordered the Eggs Benedict and there was nothing special about it.. the potato’s were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil and the rest of the dish had zero flavor.. it was very bland and small for $20+ The view is lovely and the restaurant itself is clean and cute.

Brockton Villa is a popular dining spot known for its delectable French toast and stunning views of La Jolla Cove. Whether you choose to sit inside or on the deck, you'll be treated to sweeping vistas of the ocean. The Coast Toast, an award-winning dish with fluffy souffle-like French toast and hints of orange zest, is a must-try.
This establishment is in an historic building giving it a nostalgia feel, it has a great atmosphere with very nice staff who are attentive and professional. The view overlooks the Cove and ocean and is beautiful and relaxing. Be aware there's stairs get up to reach this resturaunt, I didn't notice any other way to get up, they have outside patio and inside seating. The restroom was small but clean and I had to wait to use it. Parking can be tricky during the weekend. We got here early on a Sunday and we're able to find two spots to park with no issues. Other than that the food here is excellent add the stunning view of the cove with lots of seals, swimmers and birds and relaxing atmosphere along with the good staffing makes for a good place to eat and enjoy, I highly recommend this gem when visiting the area.

The food was average at best for me. I ordered the breakfast burrito and that was subpar. The French toast my friend ordered was amazing! So if you do for here, highly recommend the French toasts. The atmosphere was immaculate and amazing and the service was great though it did take a long time for us to get our food. Overall it was an okay place. Lovely view and lovely vibe but the food is subpar.

A wonderful restaurant with the added bonus of accepting reservations - we really appreciated how they accommodated our request for a good ocean view. You can see the sea, feel the breeze, and even hear the occasional call of the seabirds and sea lions. The food was decent overall. We especially enjoyed the mussels which are super fresh with great seasoning, and the bread was perfect for soaking up the broth. The Hawaiian POG juice was also refreshing. We tried the Coast Toast, which had a rich, layered flavor but was a bit too sweet for our taste - though definitely worth a try for those with a sweet tooth. The only letdowns were the overcooked eggs in the Benedict (they were almost fully cooked) and the crab cake, which was a bit too salty. Still, it’s a lovely spot for a scenic and relaxed meal by the ocean.

I stopped in for a late breakfast on Labor Day. The setting is lovely, with beautiful ocean views from certain tables that make the visit worthwhile. The food itself was fairly ordinary and on the pricier side, but the atmosphere helps make up for it. My waiter was sweating and he said there was no fee to use credit card but the final bill aftwr paying showed a credit card fees.

The views from the patio/deck tables is great. The drinks were good, but the spritz’s I don’t think had actual champagne like it says. Our waitress acted like we were bothering her every time she came to our table; however, the blond waitress was very sweet! The food was delicious, but the lemon couscous should not be $14. Finally, their menu hours are so confusing. We got there around 3:15 pm and they don’t serve lunch, but they don’t serve dinner either even though we got the dinner menu, which said it’s from 3 pm - 8 pm.
Neli B — Google review
We went to this spot because of some good reviews and it's views of the beach and ocean. But it was a great disappointment. First the lady who sat us down was very rude, stalled us for no reason. We saw our table was empty for a long time before we were seated. Its way too expensive for the food quantity and quality served. The food tasted very stale, was of bad quality and weird taste. Their roasted garlic hummus and pita bread was good, but bread was bit burnt though. We order for buffalo cauliflower cakes, high tide tacos and vegan breakfast tacos. We could taste stale oil, the cauliflower cakes were fried probably too many times, it tasted like it was frozen for a long time before being served. The tacos were a disaster - broken tortillas, too much filling, no taste other than side of salsa, very dry, no flavour. The ambience is okay, though questionable hygiene, too many houseflies and insects all the time, smelly restaurant and not in a good way.
Chaitrali J — Google review
This long established local eatery has been a staple for years. But as a La Jolla local we tend to quickly walk past due to the strong ocean animals stench. Today, we ate brunch! And yes, the stench is strong, but it dissipates after a few minutes of sitting down view and the location and the menu overpower it and I highly recommend checking out this amazing spot for breakfast or lunch or both! Max was our server and we enjoyed his professionalism and attention. Buon appetito!🥗 Due to the uncontrollable odor from the surrounding bluffs this should be 4-star but it’s not the restaurants fault so giving 5-star

This was my second time visiting (about 2 years apart). The smell from the seals is pungent so be prepared. Street parking is horrible but not impossible to find parking. Allow yourself enough time to park. We weren’t impressed by the food or the service. I gave it another shot with another group of friends. The view is really the most impressive! We had the pancakes, eggs, sausage which was good. We rated about a 3.5 Cove club with a side of salad. The club was huge but flavorful. I could only eat half. The side of salad was bland. My sister ordered the Thai Bloody Mary. She loved it but shared that it was spicy. She gave it a 4.5

Madi is a new and popular brunch spot that opened in 2022 in Normal Heights. It's owned by the same people behind the well-known Madison on Park restaurant. The ambiance is modern and nice, with limited bar seating for four people. Reservations are recommended to avoid waiting, as it can get busy around 10 am. The food portions are good, similar to Madison Restaurant but with a focus on brunch dishes and drinks.
Have special dietary needs or wishes? Try their Build Your Own Bowl. It’s a godsend! Available all day, you can design a breakfast or lunch that’s vegan, egg-free, grain-free, and/or gluten-free! I included a photo of my husband’s “bowl”. He loved it! For gluten-free folks, our server was extremely knowledgeable and even double checked about something she wasn’t 100% sure about. We were so grateful! My latte was delicious, with a very velvety foam. Yum! Madi is a stylish cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

Excellent place for Sunday morning after a long and excruciating Saturday night get together 🥳 The cocktails are dangerously smooth, and the vibe is effortlessly cool. Huge shoutout to Johnny, our server extraordinaire, who made everything seamless with charm, humor, and perfect timing. He turned a great meal into an unforgettable experience. Nice atmosphere, but wrong food choice MADI is always packed, which actually says a lot about the place. Luckily, they have plenty of staff and everyone seems busy but organized. I came alone for breakfast and got a seat at the bar almost immediately — that was a nice surprise. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, but honestly, I didn’t enjoy it. The dish was maybe 10% meat and 90% potato — plus more fried potatoes and two eggs. Not what I was hoping for. Probably just the wrong choice on my part, because everything else coming out of the kitchen looked good. Overall, great service and pleasant atmosphere, but next time I’ll definitely try something else.

Casual brunch spot! They generally have moderate wait times, we waited for about 30mins before we got our table. The food took too long to come. They have some good drinks and pancakes. Their churro waffles and lemon blueberry pancake is must! Their sandwiches looked nice. We order chicken chipotle melt but was a dissappintment. The chicken was undercooked and overall sandwich was very dry and tasteless. The side of fries was stale, could taste stale oil on them.

Went here on a Monday right at opening (we made reservations) You can tell this place gets packed. We sat inside but they do have a small patio (it's a dog friendly restaurant) The food was really good. Highly recommend churro waffles to share. I ordered the GOAT sandwich and it was really good. Daughter ordered the brioche French toast. Portions are generous too. Marked down a bit for service because my coffee came very late(had to remind them twice).

I visited Madi North Park to celebrate my bestie’s birthday, and it was such a great experience! We both tried the Peach Basil cocktail—it was so refreshing and delicious. I also had the Shakshuka Verde, and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had. The service was excellent too, especially knowing how busy they were. Highly recommend!

Cafe 222 is a popular daytime spot that offers unique twists on classic American comfort dishes, including their famous pumpkin waffles. The restaurant has been a staple in San Diego since 1992 and has garnered several awards for its delectable breakfast options. Founded by Terryl Gavre, the eatery's success story is as intriguing as its menu, with Gavre initially funding the restaurant through proceeds from selling a screenplay.
A small restaurant in the quieter part of downtown serving delicious breakfast items, including their famous waffles. The golden waffle was crispy and soft. The cornbread waffle with chili had a slightly more coarse texture but was also tasty. The chili had good quality ground beef in it, but was a little too salty. The Mexican Scramble had this pile of wonderful griddled potatoes had grilled onions and were thoroughly cooked to form a brown crunchy crust. Yum! Our staff was delightful and courteous. They welcomed our dogs to sit with us on the outside tables and brought them a water bowl.

Old school diner experience on the city corner. Good food, good service, classic atmosphere. We had the Peanut butter and banana French toast with eggs and sausage. We also has the waffle with eggs over easy. Eggs needed salt, but the French toast and waffle were great. Two people with Tip - $72.00

I stepped away from a conference to decompress and grab a much needed Solo Brunch last Saturday, and tried this adorable place based on reviews. Definitely a highlight of my visit! There was no wait for a table, surprisingly, and the staff was bright and friendly throughout my visit. It’s off the beaten path, so I opted for outside seating to enjoy the lovely San Diego sunshine. I ordered an egg (scrambled hard with cheddar), potatoes and a plain waffle, and was delighted by all of it. Best waffle I’ve ever had in my life - and I’ve researched this thoroughly, trust me - it looked so perfect, almost like a toy waffle in a kid’s kitchen set. Just enough crispy outside, but light enough to absorb syrup. Chef’s kiss! I barely used any butter, it really was delicious bare. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the portion sizes were generous. I think the combination of 70 degree weather and a delicious meal sent me over the edge because it was some time before I realized I was out in public doing a perfect imitation of that Jay Versace vine from back in the day: shoulders shimmying, smiling, humming, rotating carefully between items 😂😂😂 While I was eating, a waiter went by with a waffle topped with whipped cream and giant strawberries that also looked amazing. I am a big fan of Solo Brunching in general, but this place? A must. You are going to want to focus on your meal, my goodness. I’ll be back, for sure!

One of downtown’s many excellent breakfast places. Went for the stuffed French toast, but got talked into the banana bread French toast, and I wasn’t disappointed. Got a side of fresh strawberries to go with it and it was a very generous portion. Staff was super friendly and brought out a bowl of water and biscuit for our puppy. Only disappointment was the decaf coffee, which was tepid and tasted burnt. I suspect it had been brewed hours earlier. Enjoyed the patio seating, although putting cushions on the seats would be a welcome upgrade.

The food is fast and amazing the coffee great and service is at a level I miss from the days when it meant something. Don’t show up at your convention hungry with faith in what they have for lunch! Harry's Coffee Shop, established in 1960, is a beloved spot known for its all-day breakfast menu and classic diner ambiance. The place has sponsored various sports leagues over the years and offers traditional favorites like Bacon Pancakes and Grilled Chicken with Greens Salad. Despite its old-school charm, Harry's also features modern additions such as espresso drinks, cold brews, and gluten-free options.
We visited during our spring break vacation, and it was one of our highlights. It did take a while to be seated, even when half the restaurant was empty, but we did visit on a Thursday morning and it seemed like they had limited staff. Once we were seated, we had a great experience. The staff was incredibly engaging with our kids, and we really enjoyed our food. Our kids shared pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, and didn't leave one crumb behind. We also ordered a carne asada breakfast burrito, the salsa on the side had the perfect amount of spice kick to it. Everything on the menu looked great!

There is a reason why this place has been in business since 1960. The food was great and on par with every other breakfast restaurant price-wise. I got the BW Benny's and it was delicious. My aunt and mom split the oatmeal pancakes and really enjoyed theirs as well. Our server was even better than the mesh.

My partner chose this place for breakfast, one morning in La Jolla, as we attempted to pass a little time, hoping the all-encompassing gray clouds would burn off, at the beach. Harry's Coffee Shop is like walking into a Time Warp, of pure Americana. It has that perfect diner vibe. Vintage pictures line the walls here. My favorite, was of the owner, standing alongside Willie Mays. It was a huge booth to ceiling black & white photo, which reminded an old timer like me, of my days of listening to baseball on the radio. Now on to the food. I loved my breakfast here! The hash browns were amazingly crisp-both sides, and had that strived-for golden brown color. My chicken-fried steak was a decently-sized portion, with a nice floured & fried coating, plus it was smothered in a distinctly different & delicious white gravy, with hints of rosemary. My scrambled eggs arrived to my table hot, & had a creamy texture, with buttery flavor. Our server was attentive, & friendly, bringing me a stainless steel carafe of coffee, after I plowed through my first cup. Near the end of our visit here, service lagged, & our server was slow to get our check, & to-go boxes. For this reason, I gave 4 stars for service. Everything else about our time here, was perfect. This place has been here, since 1960, & after eating here, I can certainly see why. The prices are decent, & the menu choices, abundant. My partner loved her Veggie Omelette, & she chose a Pancake, for her choice of bread, which was delicious, as well. Their are 2 small lockable all gender bathrooms at Harry's. Both are in the same general area. 1 is located down a long narrow hallway, by the back door. The other is outside the restaurant's back door, then just to your right. The restrooms were tidy & clean. There is a large parking lot behind Harry's Coffee Shop, & that's good, because street parking in front is limited, & tough to come by. I loved this quaint coffee shop, which serves old timey vibes, & excellent food.

If you want to have breakfast in La Jolla this place is okay, the wait times are long but they are big portions. I was lowkey disappointed by the Pancakes and Hashbrowns :( . Overall it pains me to say but I think I would prefer to go o Dennys :/

Loved the dining room setup with ample booths. Service was great, coffee right away when seated. And no wait at 8am. We had to try the Cinna-cake and it was available as a side item. The cream cheese topping was perfect ( not too sweet) with cinnamon topped pancake the size of a dinner plate. Yummy! Main dish was a Cali Breakfast Burrito which included avocado, egg, bacon and cheese. Salsa and rice+beans were a flavorful accompaniment.

Broken Yolk is great for portion size and flavor! Been to multiple locations in different states and it always hits the spot. Service was fairly quick and server was friendly. Our table order a variety of breakfast items that nearly all came out together and had no issues. Will definitely be back at some point!

Hard to say anything bad about this place. There’s typically a line, so you need to plan accordingly but the food and service is always exceptional. Outdoor seating is comfortable and amusing, to say the least. I’ve eaten here a dozen times or so and it’s always consistent, and efficient.

We got the salmon avocado toast, lemon and ricotta pancakes , and steak and eggs, as well as a cappuccino and a latte. the steak is very chewy, although the eggs and hash browns were okay. The pancakes were not flavorful or fluffy at all and seemed to be cooked poorly. The salmon avocado toast was supposed to be on a sourdough but didn’t taste at all like sourdough. The salmon did not taste fresh and the avocado tasted more like cheap store bought avocado spread. My latte was also watered down. The ambience was nice and the waiter was efficient, but the food was definitely lacking- especially for the price point

This place was so good that when I was visiting, I went two mornings in a row!! The stuffed French toast was to DIE for, the pancakes melt in your mouth, & the Asian rice brunch dish was sooo good. There is literally nothing bad on this menu. The mimosas were some of the best I’ve ever had too! Not too sweet & fresh orange juice taste. I would highly recommend!

⸻ The staff were very friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious! I ordered lunch and my husband had brunch, just take a look at the photo, it says it all. Charming restaurant serving breakfast and sandwiches for almost 3 years. The service is superb, the food delicious, and the restaurant itself is cute. The lamb burger was thick, very juicy, and delicious. The fries that came with it were excellent, where the outside was crispy and inside tender. The three egg scrambles were all very good.

Such a cute brunch spot! The food was delicious, the space was clean and welcoming, and the staff was so friendly. They even surprised us with a free churro pancake (which is delicious by the way -way too good!) for our late friend’s birthday that we were celebrating. All of the special touches made the experience extra special. Highly recommend for a tasty and fun brunch!

In 2023, I decided to try this place for brunch. 2 years later, it’s hands down one of my favorite places to enjoy brunch with friends. This year alone I have already celebrated 2 special occasions here(yes, they do have a birthday club). I’m addicted to their mimosas and Eggs Benedicts. Pair the excellent food with the cozy environment and you’ve got the perfect brunch spot.

So delicious! We had the stir-fried rice bowl, One bluecorn meal flapjack meal, and my kiddo has the one pancake meal. We also ordered PH Sunrise and Cran Pomegranate mimosas and both were worth the $1 upgrade for the prosecco instead of champagne. A restaurant I would recommend and will be coming back to the next I’m in San Diego.

Food was incredible!!! Especially the Chilequilles (green) with carnitas, Churro pancake, and mimosa flight! Service was a little 'less attentive' than we like. Not bad, just slow to check back in to see if we need more coffee or when we were ready to pay.

I grabbed dinner at this American spot the other night, and it turned out better than I thought. The place has a cozy, kinda hometown feel, and the staff was pretty chill and helpful. I ordered a grilled chicken plate with veggies, and everything tasted fresh, maybe a bit light on seasoning for me but still really good overall. My friend got a classic cheeseburger and said it hit the spot. The prices were reasonable too, which is always nice these days. Not the fanciest place around, but definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for simple, good food without any fuss.

Richard Walker's Pancake House is a casual dining spot known for its generous portions of pancakes, baked omelets, and crepes served in a simple setting. Since 1948, the Walker family has been renowned for providing top-quality family dining experiences. The restaurant offers an array of delectable dishes such as Blueberry And Sour Cre Crepes, Chocolate Explosion, Cherry Kijafa Crepes, San Diego French Toast, and Pigs In A New Car.
Absolutely delicious breakfast! My husband and I ordered their German pancake, traditional eggs Benedict, and chilaquiles. The German pancake was the winner of the meal. Large, hot and the perfect vessel for all the butter and lemon and sugar. If you've never had a German pancake, you need to try one! May not be something you get all the time, but it's definitely something you need to try once. The chilaquiles were very good. The sauce had a nice kick to it and I really appreciated the beans buried underneath all the gooey chips and sauce. The only disappointment of the meal was the eggs benedict, but that may be a preference thing. There was some sort of herb used in their Hollandaise sauce that I didn't like. Besides, the food service was awesome. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We were sat quickly and served quick as well.
Alex H — Google review
I am staying in downtown and saw this breakfast place super busy on the weekend. So I tried it on a weekday and it was not too busy, I was able to get a booth around 10:30 am. I was not aware Richard Walker's had multiple locations. For food I ordered the Baked Pecan Pancake which has Georgia Pecans and Cinnamon Glaze. This was such a unique pancake, it had nice flavor and sweetness! It was quite large for one person so I also took some of it for home. Food was solid but servers were really attentive and nice!

Paid $50 for breakfast for 2 people that included a burned apple pancake. (Compare my photo to the others on here). Apologies were the only compensation I received. Bacon was good, and we were seated quickly. Stained glass pretty.

Your experience here will greatly depend on what you order. If you are looking to not get any sort of pancakes or crepes, best find a different spot. But if you are this is the place. I ate here twice and had the baked apple pancake and the bacon ones. Generous portions and very good quality. The apple one specifically i was quite happy with. Staff are also friendly and nice, attentive too. Be mindful this is on the more expensive side hence the four star instead of five

This restaurant always has a line out the door and now I know why best breakfast I have had in years. They offer a baked omelette that was out of this world. I had pigs in a blanket and my son had The Omelette bacon and pancakes that were absolutely excellent. I think it may be the best bacon I have had in any restaurant!
Deborah W — Google review
I had heard about this famous but expensive pancake place for years, and finally made it in this morning. Having parked downtown, I figured I better try both some sweet and savory options while I'm here. Everything was a big hit. My spinach and mushroom crepes came with a side of apple potato pancakes, and that was already too much food. But the waitress kindly let me order the cherry pancakes off the kids menu, and I'm glad I did. All three items were just heavenly. I have a few favorite breakfast spots in town, but if a friend ever says the word "pancakes," I'll know where to take them.

I was recommended this place for breakfast by a coworkers, and I'm glad to have received this recommendation. The pancakes were great, and the baked apple pancake was a novelty. The food was a bit too sweet for my liking on the whole, but I'd like to come back and try their German pancake/other items on the menu.

The eatery features a spacious outdoor patio, attracting surfers and locals looking to savor made-to-order organic smoothies, fresh salads, flatbreads, soups, sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and prime steak frites.
We visited this place because our local friends had recommended it. With its impressive Yelp and Google reviews, and a long line when we arrived, we made the right decision to come here. The service was exceptional, and the food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed their famous Tahitian French toast, which was incredibly tasty that even our picky eater, who doesn’t usually like French toast, couldn’t resist asking for more. The salmon benedicts were also quite good, and the grilled cheese was a classic choice that couldn’t be wrong. However, I had high hopes for their Kyoto coffee, which supposedly features homemade macadamia nut milk. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. I couldn’t even finish a single sip because it was so watery and tasteless. Now, let’s talk about the parking situation. This neighborhood has no public parking, so you’re either fighting to find a spot or arriving super early. We arrived around 10 am on a Saturday and had to park about a mile away. It wasn’t a terrible distance, but it wasn’t ideal, especially when you’re hangry.

Restaurant Review: Maple Fried Chicken Sandwich & Fries During my visit, I ordered the Maple Fried Chicken Sandwich accompanied by a side of fries. While the meal was enjoyable, it lacked a standout element that would make it truly memorable. Food – 7/10 Maple Fried Chicken Sandwich – 6/10 The sandwich was well-prepared, featuring fresh cheese with a satisfying pull and a well-cooked egg that added a rich texture. However, I made the mistake of pressing down on it too quickly, preventing me from fully savoring its flavors. The bacon, while present, lacked seasoning and was barely noticeable within the sandwich. The highlight was the chicken itself, which had a pleasant maple syrup glaze that complemented its crispiness. Despite these positives, the sandwich didn’t have a “wow” factor—everything was good, but nothing was exceptional. Fries – 4/10 The fries, though served in a generous portion, were relatively small. They had a nice crispiness and were mildly seasoned, but their texture caused them to dissolve too quickly, making it difficult to fully appreciate their flavor. Service – 12/10 The service was truly outstanding. We were seated almost immediately due to the efficiency of the staff, who quickly cleaned and prepared tables despite the restaurant being packed. The waitstaff were exceptionally attentive, engaging in friendly conversation and maintaining a great sense of humor. Their attentiveness and energy greatly enhanced the dining experience. Overall Impression While the food was solid but unremarkable, the outstanding service made the visit worthwhile. If the flavors were as impressive as the hospitality, this meal could have been exceptional. Side note I saw a really cool car and took a picture and edited it to look cool 😎

The hostess was not very nice, but the rest of the staff was amazing! Found this spot after a great hike! Food a bit pricey, but that's everywhere now. It's very tasty food, worth it. We sat outside, in the sidewalk table area, it was fine. Would go again if in the area. We got there early and missed the crowd. It was very busy as we left. Parking is in the residential area, just a heads up.

While Le jolle is not necessarily the place to go for food, this is the exception. We ended up getting a bloody marry and veggie benidict and both were great. In fact the bloody marry inspired us to start making them at home so we got the stuff for it right after. The benidict had a nice mix that even included a pistatio spread which worked well. The hash was probably the best hash I have had. A perfect ballance of crispy edges and tender insides. It all might be a bit pricy for breakfast but worth it. The atmosphere was nice but nothing crazy either. There was a decent amount of natural lighting and seating next to it which was nice. One of the small touches that I liked was the addition of a dog menu that they post on their front stand. The staff was friendly and had plenty of good recommendations. We lucked out on parking but It seems like normally pretty rough to find a spot. Overall a great place to grab breakfast.

Great place for Saturday breakfast with my husband and dog. We arrived close to 9 and were seated right away on the front patio. They had the heaters out so it was nice. My husband and I ordered the 2 eggs, toast, plus side plate. The crispy hash browns were really good with the perfect amount of crunch. Raspberry jam on sourdough was yummy. The cornmeal pancakes with blueberry and lemon were delicious! It was very moist and flavorful. A lot better than we expected. The best part of our meal was being able to order something for my sweet dog Izzy. She devoured the bacon and enjoyed the reverse osmosis water. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Visited July 8, 2025 - BREAKFAST My husband remembered this place from a visit years ago. He started it was a bit dated from when he originally visited. It happens. At least it was still open! He was pretty excited to bring us here! The initial sitting, which was indoors was a bit disappointing as we waited at least waited 5-10 min until someone came to greet us and take our drink order. However, upon observation I noticed one of our waitress was training another. But non of them clarified this. Anyway, after the initial negative, the rest of our breakfast service went smoothly. We had a basic breakfast: coffee, oj (fresh squeezed) pancakes, French toast, omelet with toast were all delicious and satisfying. Don’t miss eating here. You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. The wait staff is friendly. Just make sure to get here early bc it seems to be a popular place!

Great spot for breakfast - friendly servers, beautiful ambiance and good food! I enjoyed their 'fresh squeezed orange juice' and 'roasted veggies and pistachio benedict'. Since there was no wait for indoor seating, we opted for it. Nestled within the chic Pendry Hotel, Provisional Kitchen is a delightful culinary gem that offers an elevated twist on New American cuisine. With its stylish and airy ambiance, this eatery features an open kitchen where guests can witness the magic of executive chef Brandon Sloan's Italian-inspired dishes. The happy hour, available from Wednesday to Friday, invites patrons to indulge in delectable bites paired with refreshing aperitivo wines and cocktails like the classic Aperol Spritz or Apple Negroni.
Provisional Kitchen, located in the Pendry Hotel, was one of the few generous spots open on New Year's Day. Despite rolling in for brunch without a reservation, we were seated within 30 minutes--even with the place packed. We opted for outdoor seating, braving the cold, because we couldn't miss the chance to try this spot while in town. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast pizza, which was savory and bursting with flavor. I went for the tomato soup and truffle grilled cheese combo, and it was pure comfort on a plate. The tomato soup was tangy with a subtle sweetness, warming and satisfying. The truffle grilled cheese stole the show--perfectly crispy, golden-brown bread paired with gooey, decadent cheese. The earthy aroma of truffle added a luxurious twist to this classic comfort dish. The Brussels sprouts were equally impressive, packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. The restaurant itself is stunning, with chic, modern décor and a welcoming ambiance. This place instantly became a favorite--definitely worth a visit!

I had the steel-cut oatmeal and the Brussels sprouts for breakfast. While the steel-cut oatmeal itself was good, the toppings and everything that accompanied it were spectacular. As for the Brussels sprouts, they were the best I’ve ever had in my entire life; I could eat them all day. And I can't forget to mention the pistachio coffee dish. If you’re a coffee drinker, you absolutely have to try the pistachio coffee! The service was top-notch, with multiple servers checking on me throughout my meal. It was just enough attention to show that they genuinely cared. I would definitely go back to Provisional again.

Standout meal in San Diego! The bottomless mimosas were a great price and came with housemade syrups. The salmon was fresh and the portion was ample for the price. Added a perfectly poached egg to go with the everything bagel fry bread. Husband had the truffle grilled cheese with tomato soup and he is still talking about it a week later! 10/10 would return. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the Pendry so came down for breakfast quite often. Throughout the week we ordered so many different things: Breakfast Pizza (Bacon, Devonshire Cream, Parmesan Reggiano, Spinach, Two Over Easy Eggs), Breakfast Sandwich (Tuscan White Bread, Omelet Style Eggs, Heirloom Tomatoes, Arugula, 1 Year Aged Cheddar, Calabrian Chili Aioli), Chilaquiles (Roasted Red Salsa, Pickled Red Onion, Green Onion, Lime Crema, Cotija Cheese, Cilantro and Poached Eggs), Eggs Benedict (Hollandaise Sauce, Smoked Ham, English Muffin and added Salmon), Avocado Toast (Poached Eggs, Sriracha, Radish Sprouts and Multigrain Bread), Pesto Aioli Breakfast Potatoes, Breakfast Burrito (Chorizo, Potato, Over Medium, Eggs, Cheddar, with Roasted Red Salsa). My favorite was the Breakfast Pizza but to be honest, everything we ate was made at such high quality. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here!

Avoid. Decided to get breakfast here as we were staying at The Pendry. Checked in to wait and sat down outside as the host said was okay. Told it would be about 20 mins not bad. As we sat outside Steven came up to us and then said we can't sit there. Never asked if we were waiting for a table, just you need to wait elsewhere. The mobile check in showed we were next, then saw several walk ups be seated right away, so asked how much longer hostess then sits us back at the table we were waiting at. Steven could have just grabbed us menus if this was going to be the case. Good customer service would have been to ask if we were waiting and what our name was if they were opening patio. They start with water and they processed to spill all over my menu and some in lap. Ordered the Chiliqualas as I enjoyed them last weekend at Gaslamp Breakfast Company and Rustic Root, it was terrible would not recommend. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict which he didn't finish it was so bad. Even with the hotel credit it was not worth it to eat here. For a 5 star hotel this restaurant is awful in service and food. Go elsewhere there are much better restaurants nearby!

Good breakfast, included with our stay at the Pendry. The birria wasn't traditional birria, but it was good. The chilaquiles were good, but it would have been better with two eggs or some meat. Very friendly staff.

Nestled in the charming La Jolla, Sugar and Scribe is a delightful bakeshop known for its sweet treats, sandwiches, and light meals. The establishment boasts a coffee bar, sit-down dining area, and a grab-and-go bakery counter offering intricate and charming pastries. Renowned Chef Maeve, winner of Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship, leads the culinary experience.
This restaurant is AMAZING! The food was delicious, service fast, and ambiance super cute and fun. Kids will love this place, as will families and couples looking for a tasty breakfast in a modern playful atmosphere. My partner and I went around 9:30am on a Monday, which is possibly why we received such quick service — the food came out in <10 minutes after we ordered. We sat outside, which was a bit chilly but cozy as they had the heaters on. The menu is impressive and has loads of options. I got the lobster Benedict, and my partner got a spicy meat skillet thing. We also got the turmeric and blue moon lattes. Highly recommend all of these things! The store inside is also really cute! The pastries tasted good and are the prettiest I’ve ever seen (and I’ve had many pastries in my life)! I also highly recommend the delicious lemon macarons. I’ll for sure be coming back during my next visit to San Diego and will be recommending S&S to others!

As the name suggests, Sugar and Scribe leans heavily on the sweet side. I ordered an oat milk latte that came sweetened by default, even though I didn’t request sugar so I’d recommend asking for no added sugar in advance if you prefer it less sweet. The bread pudding French toast was rich and flavorful, though definitely a large portion, best shared! My husband got the shakshuka without egg (he’s vegetarian), which was okay. They don’t offer dedicated vegetarian options, but the kitchen is accommodating and can modify dishes to exclude eggs or meat, which is helpful to keep in mind. The ambience is cute, the staff is friendly, and the wait time was reasonable. Overall, it’s a cozy spot for a sweet brunch, just be mindful of how sugary things can get.

This is a great spot with delicious food. Everything we ate was delicious. The Bread Pudding French toast was yummy! The place is dog friendly (outside patio) and they have a good portion shredded chicken for the dogs. The service was good up until the end when we wanted to get things boxed and pay the bill.

My sister took us here when we visited & just loved it. Very busy spot, they don't take reservations, so we had a little wait. Service was great along with the food & drinks. I would definitely come back here!

You have GOT to try the pancakes….I am literally sitting here in the restaurant still eating these pancakes while writing this review because you have to know what I’m experiencing. These are easily the best pancakes of my life!! I dipped some in my husbands caramel sauce from his French toast and my eyes got brighter, the sky got brighter, I could smell the flowers a bit more. I honestly think these pancakes have changed my life. You must get them. They are even good plain!! I would never say that if you know me…. Ugh I hope to come back here one day.

***Second Review*** Another outstanding breakfast Ordered: Smothered and covered skillet with BBQ Beef - over easy eggs smothered with cheesy chicken gravy. Beef was tender with balanced sour and sweetness of BBQ sauce. Butter Poached Lobster Benedict - Deliciously rich hollandaise sauce over perfectly poached egg. Great portion of succulent lobster meat on a toasty English muffin. Chicken Caesar Wich - buttery and flaky croissant with well seasoned and crispy buttermilk fried chicken and fresh salad on the side. 6” Dripping in Finesse Cake (Vanilla Cake w/ Strawberry Cardamom Buttercream) - $90 cake that is so worth it! Simple, elegant design and luscious cake! It was 915AM on Wednesday so I have to drive around the block to find a parking spot. Courteous and attentive staff. Highly recommended for brunch menus and desserts/cakes! ***First Review*** Charming and aesthetic decor which is inviting upon entering. Ordered: Crabby Royale Benedict - loaded with delicious crabmeat, fresh arugula/avocado and perfectly poached egg topped with spicy sriracha hollandaise sauce makes this dish to order again on our next visit. Roasted potatoes was crispy and seasoned well. **spicy sriracha hollandaise wasn’t that spicy** Famous Rebellious Lobby Roll - right amount of delicious lobster meat with lemon aioli and seasonings in a tasty/butter roll. It comes with arugula salad. S & S Chocolate - Picture and taste perfect! Chocolate and whipped topping is so so good! The “Best” according to my wife; which I Agree! The toasted marshmallow was good too. Our server, Erin was nice and attentive from start to finish. Still few empty parking spot by the surrounding streets right after 9AM on a Saturday. No waiting to get in and only took 10-15 mins for our entire orders. Highly recommended. Will absolutely coming back to try their other dishes and desserts.

Delicious! The food is delicious, the benedict was cooked perfectly, with a tasty hollandaise sauce and crispy bacon. The potatos on the side were a great compliment, sliced like chips, they were perfect for scooping the sauce and yolk. The waffles were delicious too, the peach burbon sauce and elderberry cream was to die for We went during peak sunday bunch time (after 10 am on a sunday), parking is a little tricky, you might have to go a couple blocks, and since this place is popular, you might have a little bit of a wait. However the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fun, plus there is a take out coffee counter with pastries to order if you need somthing to tide you over. If you can, definitely visit, the sweet and savory offering for brunch are great! Will definitely come back.

‘Ingredients are on the back’ is our new inside joke slogan with my gf. This was the response when we asked what was the flavors for on of their cookies in a fairly rude way. Pretty sure it was the owner or GM. Really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is beautiful. But the GM was just really hard to witness. She was talking down on her staff. The food was good, small portions compared to The Cottage across the street, but decent. But the GM telling customers to get of the way without apologies or anything really bummed the experience out. Just go to The Cottage across the street.

Mexican restaurant
Cocina 35 is a quick-serve restaurant located in downtown's Cortez Hill neighborhood, offering traditional Mexican entrees and breakfast in an airy, industrial setting. The eatery is renowned for its generous portions of chilaquiles, with options like Chilaquiles Regulares and the popular Los Rancheros. The menu also features sampler platters showcasing a variety of sweet and savory items, along with breakfast dishes such as scrambles, omelets, and enfrijoladas.
I found this place on my open table app. It looked amazing. One thing is for sure, make sure to make a reservation. I made a 11:00am and that place is busy. If you cannot find street parking, there is a $3.00 underground parking lot or across a street. I am unsure how much it is since we were lucky find parking. Inside of the restaurant is beautiful. I love the atmosphere. The food is delicious. Everything there is a 10 star+. We took dessert to go but I am sure it's fabulous. If you want to take a drive to San Diego and looking for a good brunch place. This is it. Oh and the service is amazing. We had Karla and she took good care of us.

This restaurant usually have long waits, we were lucky to go on a weekday and it was not busy at around 10am. The service was good but a little slow for my preference. She was very nice though and explained all the dishes we had questions on. Food tasted delicious and it didn’t take that long, maybe because they were not that busy. The concept of this restaurant is good, a little small but still aesthetically appealing. There’s only one bathroom but it was very clean! Parking is in front of the restaurant I believe and it’s $15 or $20 to park unless you find street parking or public parking. I would definitely be going back!

We walked passed this place on a Thursday at 8 am it was completely empty and we decided to go in the next day after. We are from Texas and we're visiting a few days and didn't want to eat hotel breakfast. The Friday we went in it was pretty busy but were sat fairly quickly. Mind you just myself and my husband, we waited about 10 minutes for someone to come over, while another family of 5 got sat and within 30 seconds someone was there to take their order. Our server was walking passed us and stopped in her tracks and was quick to ask if we were ready. We made our order and it was out within 7 minutes before our drinks came out. We both got "hot" lattes but they were warm at best. The food was good, again not hot but the flavor was there. Our server never came back after dropping off our food, we had to get another server to grab our check after waiting another 15 minutes after we were done eating. We're not the type not to tip well, but this was a $65 check for 2 people for breakfast, so no she did not even get a 10% tip. We decided to give it a go again the Sunday we were leaving. It's about 8 am, empty, like 2 families of 2 or 3 people there, she asks if we are walk-in or reservation. I was confused because there was literally no line and a bunch of tables. We were sat, the server comes over, we both got the caffe de olla, again warm at best. The food again out within 5-7 minutes, flavors seem to be there but it definitely feels like they rush the food and the service. Server came back a few times to check on us, waited about 5 minutes after we were done to get our check. I asked her for our check and she comes over and asks "has anyone given you you're check?" I was again confused since she was our server and had her little handy dandy machine on her, like was someone else supposed to give it us. Service absolutely needs to be improved and maybe take a look at turning up the heat on the food and coffee because everything is warm/lukewarm.

This waterfront restaurant on the shores of San Diego Bay is a standout in the city’s dining scene. The menu seamlessly fuses authentic Mexican flavors with a refined, gourmet presentation, creating dishes that are both familiar and elevated. Each plate showcases fresh, well-balanced ingredients prepared with precision. Service is warm, attentive, and well-paced, adding to the overall excellence without feeling overbearing. The setting is simply beautiful—offering stunning bay views that perfectly complement the experience. Prices are moderate and entirely reasonable given the quality of the cuisine, service, and location. A must-visit for those seeking exceptional food in a truly picturesque setting.

Edited on 11/06/25: I went in person and omg yassssss best chilaquiles in town and awesome Service as well. Avoid delivery though because the 30 minutes it sits in the container gets them soggy even if you get the “deconstructed”..idk if maybe they didn’t follow this request but just go in person. Pro tip, make a reservation online to avoid long wait. I really want to like this place since they are known for the “best chilaquiles in town”. Overall I wasn’t too impressed. My chilaquiles were soggy, apparently because I got them “constructed” but since I ordered delivery it really was not, they were simply placed in a to go container. It seems silly to charge extra for “deconstructed” version to maintain the crispyness, it should just be common sense to use best judgement when it comes to that. I was confused in regards to why the beans were so watery, am I suppose to drink them? Also they were nasty and tasted like they came from a can, I threw them away. I was initially mostly pleased with the $6 freshly squeezed orange juice but was expecting something extra since they advertise it comes in an “adult cup”. I later found something floating around in there..coulda been mold from not cleaning their squeeze device properly? The flavor of the chilaquiles and carnitas was really good. I have yet yet to experience the “best chilaquiles in town”. Soggy is not it.

Great spot for authentic, delicious Mexican food and brunch! Be prepared for a wait if you don’t have a reservation—but trust me, it’s well worth it. We came on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend, and the place was fully prepared for the crowds: organized, professional, and efficient. There’s a large paid parking, street parking, and a garage all conveniently located right across the street and next to the restaurant, which is a huge plus for any downtown location. One unique touch I appreciated was the display of all their menu items both on the phone and behind glass inside the actual restaurant—it makes it easy to choose what looks most appetizing. I ordered the El Patrón platter, a hearty breakfast sampler with chilaquiles, beans, two eggs, and French toast. The portion was just right—I cleaned the plate. For dessert, I had the churros, which were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Simple, but perfectly done. The only downside was the specialty coffee. At $9, it didn’t live up to the name or price—the milk in there tasted borderline expired...Still, I highly recommend this place! They have several other locations too, in case downtown isn’t your scene. Thank you for a wonderful experience! 10/10.

This was my first time trying Cocina 35. I have seen this restaurant with huge lines before which have turned me off but this time I decided to give it a try. I wish I would have tried this place sooner as I didn't realize how quickly this establishment attends its guest which allows the line outside to move very quickly. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried the chilaquiles with carne asada and the agua de jamaica was delicious as well. All the servers were very welcoming and very attentive. I will definitely be returning.

Only reason its 3 and not 5 stars was because the table host Victor was having us wait 2 full hours before seating us. We were a walk-in I understand but 2 hours is crazyy. He kept skipping us and having other people who had arrived after us first. We put our name down at 10:45am and didnt get seated until 12:45ish. Other then that this place was really good the food was amazing, the waiters were very friendly and attentive.

Kono's Cafe is a snug diner located in the heart of Pacific Beach, next to Crystal Pier. It boasts a surf-themed interior and an oceanfront location, making it a popular spot among locals and visitors alike. The cafe offers high-quality breakfast options at affordable prices, drawing long lines of eager customers every day. With its fast and friendly customer service, Kono's Cafe is known for serving up the best breakfast in San Diego.
This spot was recommended to me by a local and they were right, this is delicious. I got a veggie omelet and of course, it was classic and yummy. They use plastic utensils and paper plates which makes sense for their location and demand. You get in line, order your food, and sit. They then bring the food to you (they'll call your name as they search for you.) Since it's by the beach, they have a line out the door but the service remains fast and efficient. Their pricing is surprisingly fair for a spot by the beach. After you finish eating, you could enjoy a walk by the beach.

Is it good food? Yes! Is it mind blowing? No. Very nice and friendly people work and operate this business though. Portions are huge, you can sit outside or at the pier, service is fast. It’s a nest place for grabbing breakfast. Come before 8 if you don’t wanna wait in line, the line gets insane after 9.

Excellent service and our brunch was very tasty! Servings are more than one (so maybe leftovers) and came out fresh and quick! Partners meal was deal of the day and came with a generous slice of ham! I had the veggie scramble and it left me content!! May I add they have a little section of designated seating looking out on the beach!! Blows 10/10 recommend out of the PB beach water!! They are really dog friendly too. Go if you're excited after reading my review!!

This place was wonderful! When we arrived, there was a small line out the door but they moved pretty good. There is some seating on the inside so we were able to snag a table to enjoy our food there. Prices are great, especially as you get so much food! The food is hot, large servings, and Ono loa! They don't have take out containers, but if you can't finish your food (I couldn't) they can at least give you foil to wrap your plate in, which is what I did. Highly recommend and will dine again next time in town!

Food was very good. It does get busy in the morning. They have some outside seating overlooking the water. My husband had the #1. Sausage, egg,and avocado burrito. He loved it. He appreciated that it didnt have any hash browns since some breakfast, places like to put them in as a filler. I had French toast and a side of fruit.

Really good breakfast burrito. You can sit right on the water. When you come out the front door of the place go across the street into the right and there is a little balcony that overlooks the water on the right hand side of the pier. Good food and great atmosphere

Worth the wait. Super tasty and fresh breakfast bacon and cheese egg sandwich. The eggs were moist and was scrambled to perfection. My hubby ordered the egg sandwich with chorizo and gave it two thumbs up. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Secret tip. If you cross the walkway past the gift-shop you can sit outside with an ocean view. Sadly we didn’t notice this until we were done eating the second time we were here. Great location. Fun vibe. Farmer's Table La Mesa is a beloved spot in the neighborhood, offering creative New American cuisine in a vibrant setting with a generous outdoor patio. The menu features indulgent options like Reese's and ice cream pancakes, which can also be made vegan or gluten-free, using local organic eggs and wholesome ingredients. This family-owned establishment serves three meals daily, boasting a popular brunch selection and Bloody Mary cocktails. Their commitment to quality service and organic ingredients has garnered attention from various media outlets.
Review of Farmers Table in La Mesa The vibe here is older farm, and the music track was from the 90s and 80s. Nice background, so you're not shouting over it. If you're looking for brunch, do yourself a favor and hit this place up. I had the Sweet Thoughts, which is a pancake, waffle, and French toast charcuterie board. The Pancakes were ok. They are oreo on the inside and cooked to a golden perfection, fluffy and cooked on the inside. Those waffles come with a cookies and hand whipped cream. It is Hella good. The batter has the best sweet vanilla flavor to them. The best thing on the board is the French Toast. I believe in the saying "Keep it simple and make it perfect." These are the essence of a perfect French toast. Enough wash to make it semi-crusty and a touch of vanilla cinnamon. It was how a French toast should be made. Whoever this chef was.. wow! The pulled pork eggs bennidict. The pork is Delicious... Savory, with a background of smokiness. The sauce has a sharp Chipotle sauce that compliments the Pork and isn't over powering. The egg was poached exactly correct. When popped it flowed like a creamy lava of richness. This is a definite put on the try it list. Alejandra was our server. She's fun, on top of everything. She even listened as she walked past the table next to us as the gentleman said he wished he had a new fork and napkin. She was back with a fork and napkin in less than a minute. He even mentioned he was impressed she heard him without his needing to be asked. We never wanted for anything, and the staff was so attentive.

It is being advertised as a rustic farm house, but really it felt more like a modern restaurant with nice farm tables. Staff was great and very attentive. Food was mediocre. I had veggie Panini. While the panini was toasted to perfection, my sandwich was just warm. It was a bland sandwich. I didn't taste any sauce, and neither any of the vegetables in there stood out when I took a huge bite. Dad ordered American breakfast- just typical toast, eggs, and sausage. Nothing special. For the price I paid, plus 3% credit card extra charge, I was expecting better quality food.

Hob Nob Hill is a diner located in San Diego, CA that has been in operation for over 1944. The diner specializes in American comfort cooking and serves generous portions of food in comfy and casual settings. It regularly receives accolades from the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association.
This was the first time in awhile that I visited Hob Nob Hill, and everything was delicious! We ordered the deviled eggs, the meatloaf dinner, and the smash burger. Everything was well seasoned, tasted fresh and overall presented well. The inside was clean, organized, and had that classic diner feel. Our server was Jeannine. She and the other staff were all friendly and attentive. We also ordered some pastries to go, there are several great choices. The cinnamon roll was a solid pick. I will be back!!

My wife and I found this online and decided to give it a try. While there, we found out that Hob Nob Hill has been around for 81 years. It's under news ownership now, but the menu was left unchanged, although it was improved upon. My wife and I shared onion rings, a garden salad, and the chicken and dumplings. All the food was great. However, I can honestly say that I have never had chicken and Dumplings as rich and delicious as what is served here. The manager, Carlos, was warm, friendly, and attentive. It was obvious that he was proud of the food the kitchen was putting out.

Wanted to stop in because of reviews, and because this place is anchored in Southern California / San Diego Restaurant lore. I started off with a well gin martini + filthy dirty please 🙏 Carlos the manager said martinis are my specialty … it absolutely did NOT disappoint, it was amazing. We tried several things on the menu including appetizers, meal, and red velvet cake dessert. All top shelf and outstanding service. Carlos is the bomb ! … we will be back. Yes, it may be under new ownership after 81 years … but with Carlos standing watch on the Ship, she is in very good hands.

We just wrapped up a 5-day trip to San Diego, and out of all the places we ate, Hob Nob Hill was the one we came back to again and again — three times in total. The service was fantastic every single visit. Our server, Carlos, was perfect — genuine, friendly, attentive, yet never overburdening. And the food? Every single dish hit the mark. Everyone in our group loved what they ordered, and that’s saying something when you’ve got different tastes at the table. The menu is straightforward, with plenty of variety, but not so huge that it feels overwhelming. Everything feels thoughtfully put together. We always found parking during the week, which made it easy to stop in. Honestly, this place felt like a local favorite and the kind of spot travelers will want to put on their list. If we lived in San Diego, this would definitely be our family’s regular spot. And whenever we’re back in town, Hob Nob Hill will be a must-visit.

Absolutely loved my experience at Hob Nob Hill! The space was spotless with beautiful white subway tile and sleek black marble countertops—it felt classic but fresh. I was honestly shocked there was no wait on a Saturday morning for breakfast. I ordered the Mediterranean omelette, and it was perfect—flavorful without being greasy like at so many other places. The English muffin? Hands down the best I’ve ever had. And the orange juice was freshly squeezed, which was such a nice touch. 10s across the board. Also a great spot if you’re coming with a larger group. Definitely coming back!

We stopped in for brunch and had a really nice time! We were seated on the back patio, which is set up inside a charming little greenhouse. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, but they turned on the heat lamps, and it quickly became perfectly cozy. Our server, Gabriel, was kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. For brunch, I usually lean more savory, but today a little sweetness was calling my name, so I decided to try the Monte Cristo. I’m glad I did—it was really good, with the perfect sweet and savory balance. That said, it was definitely on the rich side, and I could only make it through half. My husband ordered the Bottega Stack and thought it was good but fairly average overall. The menu features a lot of fresh, farm-to-table inspired options, and there are plenty of dishes we still want to try from both the brunch and dinner menus. Overall, it’s a cozy spot with a great atmosphere, friendly service, and a menu worth exploring—solid 4/5 and we’ll definitely be back!

Good brunch spot that has nice variety of options. I ended up getting the Meatloaf Breakfast Platter that came with toast and three eggs your way. Good flavor and liked the spinach mixed in the meatloaf. We were seated by the front near the window and it got a bit warm but other than that was a nice ambiance. Service was friendly and pretty standard.

We flew in from Florida and were immediately looking for lunch. This little cafe is so cute, the interior decor is very homey and soothing. The food was fantastic! I had meatloaf hash and my friend got the turkey club. Her sandwich was enormous. If we were locals this would be a regular spot for us.

They sat us down in a back patio which was very nice. The service was good. The food was also good I got the buttermilk pancakes. Nice and fluffy. The only thing was the prices. Of course this is California all the prices are high but for 3 pieces of bacon it was 10 dollars. Overall good just pricy.

This is a great restaurant, no reservation needed for brunch and plenty of seating inside. Good portions, and lots of options to chose from. We ordered mimosas and they were great, and I also got a crab cake benedict which was delicious. Loved it and can’t wait to go back!!

This is my favourite restaurant in San Diego. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing patio—-all year round. We’ve been going for 3 years and have an amazing experience every time. Patio is dog friendly. Our 3 year old daughter loves it. Favourite dishes are chicken, short rib, burrata, and all the pastas. Dessert is great too. Definitely worth a visit.

This Farmer’s Bottega location truly excels in every aspect, from the carefully crafted food to the exceptional drink selections. My experience was remarkable. The service was impeccable, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that went above and beyond. I had made a reservation and was seated promptly, which set a positive tone for the evening. Our server was outstanding, taking extra steps to ensure our comfort throughout the meal. The restaurant's design and decor are stunning, creating an inviting atmosphere. Kudos to the management and their dedicated team for delivering such a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this place!

Café Topes is a vibrant and modern café located on trendy Roosevelt Street in Carlsbad, CA. It's a local favorite known for its classic breakfast and lunch plates, as well as an array of espresso drinks. The café boasts a wide variety of options to satisfy any craving, including over 5 types of Eggs Benedict and other visually appealing and delicious dishes.
A great brunch spot! The food and drinks were incredible - would definitely recommend insanely large cinnamon scroll! We went on the weekend and had to park a couple blocks away and wait in line but it was definitely worth it. Trendy indoor and outdoor spaces and bustling vibe.

Divine breakfast food! My friend suggested we try this popular restaurant down the street from her hotel while we were in town. There was a long line outside on a Thursday morning and it was moving pretty slow. They have a large menu selection and everything on it looks good. We were drooling standing in line to order and watching all the delicious looking dishes being delivered to the other customers at their tables. You order at the counter with the friendly staff and are given a number stand. Open seating and there is lots of it inside and outside. A popular item was their giant cinnamon buns and it was so good! Fluffy and not too sweet. I ordered the chilaquiles and it was good too though I wish the salsa was thicker. My tortilla chips were drowning and getting soggy. My friend who ordered the grilled cheese sandwich said it looked good but fell short. She claimed it was a bit too sweet. Another friend ordered the omelet and loved it. The pancake was fluffy and perfectly cooked.

Visited Cafe Topes for breakfast on a Friday morning, and it was a pleasant experience! The place wasn’t too crowded, which made for a relaxed vibe. I ordered the Crack’n Eggs, and they nailed it; eggs were perfectly over-easy, the potatoes were well-seasoned, and the crack was tender and cooked just right at medium. My wife got the Classic Benedict; one egg was spot-on, but the other was slightly off. The country ham was super thick and hearty, though we prefer thinner Canadian bacon. Still, it was good quality. The Bloody Mary was a miss for her, hard to pinpoint why, but maybe the wine-based vodka or lack of that rich, tomato-y kick we love. On the plus side, they handled my wife’s shellfish allergy with care, and she had no issues after the meal. Bathrooms were clean and nice, with two unisex options. The water setup was, let me say, different; the pipe looks like it comes from the roof, so jokingly, I felt like I was drinking roof water! It tasted fine, though, and seemed well-filtered. Overall, solid spot with great food we’d come back!

Stopped into Café Topes based off of the recommendation, and we were so happy that we stopped in. We started off with a dirty cinnamon bun and then moved on to lunch. Everything was very flavorful. We actually couldn’t even finish the three tacos. There was so much food.

Okay, so, this place was GOOD good. It was poppin', which is a great sign, but despite how busy it was, the service was super fast and totally on point. The food was positively sublime, with perfect runny eggs on my benedict and a side of fruit that was actually fruit you want to eat. The standard menu is already phenomenal, but the specials were also a fun surprise and sounded incredible. Basically, Cafe Topes knows what they are doing, and I am here for it. ❤️

The staff here is exceptionally friendly and eager to accommodate your needs, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The simplicity of the place adds to its charm, making it a comforting spot to enjoy a meal. The toasted avocado dish is rich and flavorful, while the Greek yogurt is thick and satisfying, together making for a hearty and filling experience that leaves you feeling pleasantly satisfied.

Great breakfast spot, but get there early. If you do get there late and the line is growing, it is worth the wait. Quick service and friendly staff.

Order at the counter and find/wait for an open table. Dog friendly. Ordered the country fried steak, the 222, the chilaquiles, blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes, and the cinny roll. The food was amazing, I'll be back to try more.

Nestled in the Sunset Cliffs neighborhood, Little Lion Cafe is a charming and cozy spot that's popular for its Belgian favorites and breakfast offerings. Despite its small size, the cafe's congenial staff and fresh California ingredients create an inviting atmosphere. While lines for brunch can be long, the delicious dishes like Sausage Bowl and heavenly Belgian Waffles make it worth the wait.
We tried the sausage bowl, lox croissant, and ricotta toast, and each one was a hit. The sausage bowl was hearty and flavorful, with perfectly balanced ingredients that left us wanting more. The lox croissant was beautifully flaky and packed with fresh, quality salmon, just the right amount of indulgence. The ricotta toast was light yet satisfying, with creamy ricotta that paired beautifully with its toppings. Highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking delicious and thoughtfully crafted breakfast options.

Stopped at Little Lion Café in Sunset Cliffs for a celebration lunch and it did not disappoint. The avocado toast was absolute chef’s kiss perfection, and they even brought out bacon for my pup—major bonus points! The outdoor atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Definitely a hidden gem I’d recommend to anyone looking for good food and good vibes.

I'm so grateful that this quaint neighborhood gem is now open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Everything on the menu is delicious and there are good options for gluten intolerance. My children loved the shrimp and roasted vegetables. The sea bass was delicious and my husband loved the Caesar salad and meatballs. Excellent wine options and do not skip dessert - my family loved the home made ice cream sandwiches.

I’ve heard such great things and always drive by Little Lion Cafe so finally got the chance to try it out! It’s such a cute cafe right around the corner from Sunset Cliffs. I highly recommend making reservations, it is very small with not a lot of seating so you could be waiting a bit if you try and walk in Service was great, I thought the food was okay overall. A little on the pricier side in my opinion for what you get We got the California Croissant sandwich with a side of the duck/bacon sausage, turkey and bacon sandwich, coffee cake and two coffees Overall it was a cute place to check out. I’d come back again to try out some of the other food options Highly recommend going for a walk along the cliffs after your meal it’s so beautiful out there

Food & Drinks: The lattes were outstanding. My boyfriend had the matcha latte with rose-cardamom syrup, which turned out to be one of the best flavor combinations we've ever tried. The golden milk turmeric latte was equally delicious. For food, we tried the jalapeño duck & bacon sausage, crab cakes Benedict, ricotta toast, and shakshuka. Unfortunately, the gravy was unavailable, so we couldn't try the sausage bowl, but that's just another reason to return. The standout dish was definitely the jalapeño duck & bacon sausage -- flavorful and a real winner. The crab cakes were also impressive; you could really taste the freshness of the crab meat. The ricotta toast was a unique breakfast item, but it was surprisingly delicious. The shakshuka, while good, wasn't quite as memorable as the other dishes. Service: Excellent and attentive service. The food did take a little while to arrive, but it's understandable given the small kitchen, and the wait was definitely worth it. Ambiance: A charming, cozy spot right next to Sunset Cliffs. Parking is limited unless you're willing to pay, but the location is worth it. Dogs are welcome outside, which is a nice touch.

Claire's on Cedros, nestled in Solana Beach, is a charming and rustic eatery renowned for its New American cuisine. The cozy spot offers a delectable breakfast and lunch menu featuring bistro classics made with locally-sourced ingredients. Guests can indulge in an array of breakfast favorites such as pancakes, eggs, omelets, and French toast while savoring delightful baked goods from the in-house bakery.
Flavor: A Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A This was undoubtedly the best meal we had in Solana Beach. The French toast and hash browns were top notch and the service was just as good! It was a great morning patio experience that left me wishing we hadn’t tried this place on our last day.

We were pleasantly surprised to be immediately seated on Father’s Day. They sat us in the back garden patio next to a beautiful tree. Our waitress was attentive, even with a full restaurant. Loved my sidecar of OJ that I could add to my mimosa to make it my way. Pete loved his chilaquiles and appreciated the reasonable portion size. I ordered the secret menu item, a breakfast burrito. It was the most reasonable priced breakfast item on the menu! Perfect portion size vs a breakfast burrito that feeds 3 people. I enjoyed a stroll around the restaurant to admire the colorful flowers. Great food, thoughtful and attentive service and a romantic beautiful atmosphere.

It’s not often that I find a breakfast restaurant that has too many great menu choices. I couldn’t decide and it’s was a big dilemma to narrow it down. I’m guessing I’ll just have to return on my next visit into town. Seriously, this place was great and we really enjoyed not only the food but the ambience in the back patio. Extra points for being puppy friendly including their own tasty menu. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Since being turned on to Claire's back in March, my wife and I have dined twice more - once for breakfast and, more recently, lunch - during our visits from Tucson, AZ. Each time, food quality and service were OUTSTANDING...somehow better than the last. Server Patty was friendly and appropriately attentive. And there was no judgement about us sharing the Sweet & Savory Burger. Instead, Patty provided recs for other places to eat and drink in and around Solana Beach. Those may complement, but never replace Claire's as our go-to!

First of all, such a cool space with outdoor covered dining, suitable for the several pets we saw at their owners' feet. One from our party had been here a while back with her sisters and she had been craving it so much that she convinced us to take a road trip down from Orange County just for this brunch. And I can tell you, it was so worth it. The two ladies split the Risotto Benedict and added a pancake. They were very kind to split the plate in the kitchen for us. My buddy got a Cali Omelet and I got the server's recommendation, the Blackberry French Toast. Wow, that was good. I don't know what the french toast was stuffed with, maybe a cream cheese, but whatever the combination, it was so tasty. Now I am craving it, and I want to take another road trip just for brunch at Claire's.

Beautiful place, and multiple patios surrounding the building. I had a yogurt bowl with fruit, everything was fresh and delicious. The French toast was outstanding as were the waffles I tried. Omelets are also a great choice. The service was friendly and quick. Also had the chai tea and it was done with cinnamon. Restroom was very clean

We hadn’t been to Claire’s in years until a nice lunch with friends on Sept 16th. Our server Patti was sweet, attentive & efficient, she has a lovely personality. We asked about menu choices & she provided good input. My husband’s Egg Benedict was good, very tasty Hollandaise with just the right amount of lemon juice in it, he should have asked for extra! My Turkey & Goat Cheese Melt on Sour Dough was good too, tho skimpy on the Turkey & the Cheese. The little butter cookies at the end were such a delicious treat! Loved Patti & will ask for her next time!

Caroline's Seaside Cafe by Giuseppe offers a refined Californian-style brunch and lunch experience, with the option to dine inside or on an eco-chic oceanside patio. Located near La Jolla Cove, the cafe serves healthy California-style cuisine made from organic and sustainably sourced ingredients. The menu includes a variety of dishes such as salads, fruit slices, egg dishes, pancakes, bagels, sandwiches, fish, and burgers.
First time here. It is a very popular place. Arrive early. The food was amazing as well as the view. We went on a Saturday arrived at noon. The staff were very helpful and also helped with holding a table for us while ordering our food. Great staff on site.

We love playing casual volleyball games at La Jolla Shores Beach, and I looked up nearby food spots, perfect find! This place is great. Just a heads-up: there’s usually a long line if you’re dining in. But if you’re ordering to-go, the line is much shorter, which worked better for us since we wanted to head back, relax, and enjoy the beach with friends and family. Honestly, the food is worth trying! We loved the tuna sandwich and the beef short ribs hash with eggs. Just note: you can’t get the mimosas for takeout. I didn’t get a chance to take photos of everyone because we were so hungry, but it was definitely worth it. I especially loved the tuna sandwich with the side, just not the salad, haha! I like salad, just not after a game. The front desk staff (I forgot her name) was super friendly and let us know we didn’t need to line up with dine-in customers. There are two lines: one for dine-in and another for takeout/delivery. The takeout line is definitely the way to go.

Amazing brunch with a breathtaking view at Caroline’s Seaside Cafe in La Jolla Shores! Tasty iced cappuccino and mocha. The food was yummy, we liked the beef short rib hash and eggs, curried chicken salad sandwich, and cinnamon roll. Very friendly staff. Expect to wait in line and need some time for your food to come out, but with a view like that you should be entertained. Dog friendly as well. Recommend!

probably the best view of La Jolla shores from any restaurant near by, paired with great and friendly service, and fresh delicious food, its absolutely worth the live and even the parking adventure. (nothing to do with the restaurant, La Jolla is just hard to find parking after 9 am) so go early and watch the surfers and dolphins while enjoying fine coffee and your choice of breakfast.

We lucked out by getting a table next to the glass with a view. All the tables had been full. The potatoes and vegetarian omelet were good. The eggs were a bit softer than I like. The sourdough was tasty. The iced Chai was also delicious.

They seem a bit unnecessarily strict with their ordering and seating system. Especially considering it's gloomy Monday morning and their is no line and plenty of open tables. They have a cafe order set up, but you can not sit unless you order food from their seating* menu. Also i only ordered a coffee and it stilk took 20mins to come out.. Honestly this place put a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure I'd be a returning customer. Pinpoint is a super cute cafe up the street with better view that id prefer to visit.

The Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego offers luxurious rooms and suites with balconies and marble bathrooms, as well as upscale dining options and a rooftop pool. The hotel is a popular choice for couples looking to have an extravagant wedding, offering three different wedding packages that include butler-passed hors d'oeuvres, hosted bars, and multi-course menus. The venue's decor is inspired by the Palace of Versailles in France, providing a unique and opulent setting for weddings.
Stayed here for an anniversary trip and everything was great. Sophia, the guest experience supervisor, even left a nice note as well as some wine to help us celebrate our special occasion. Staff were wonderful and the entire hotel was very beautiful, clean, luxurious, and in a great location with an amazing view of the city and Coronado bridge. Will definitely be returning here on future visits!

I’m a SD native and came here to listen to jazz. We used to come here to eat back in the day, the hotel is so elegant. The jazz music was wonderful! I also had crab cakes which tasted like they were made with canned crab, but they were ok. The desserts were good and so were the cocktails. The staff are friendly and helpful. We spent a relaxed evening.

Absolutely beautiful hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. We stayed here for four nights whilst in San Diego and loved our stay. The only real room for improvement we found was that the room we were in (1698) could have benefited from some minor TLC as the wallpaper had peeled from the wall in some areas and the shower leaked water (looked like the door was missing a seal at the bottom) HOWEVER these are very minor cosmetic complaints. We would absolutely love to book this hotel again on any future stays. Thank you so much Westgate & San Diego ❤️ - Stephen & Alex

Lovely night at the Westgate, little staycation for us. We took an uber to Michelin Star Lola 55 and came back to hotel to enjoy the rooftop pool and jacuzzi. There was live music in the lobby, so quaint! Loved the cozy robes, and the darling bartender Brandon made sure we were all set up with buckets of beers before he left. We watched the Dodgers win the World Series from the jacuzzi, such an experience! The other hotel guests were lovely and exited to be there. We enjoyed room service with a view from the 18th floor Premier King room. Loved the decor. Very Parisian! Enjoyed the heated pool and jacuzzi with several lounge area options before out late check out. Valet Sam was darling, you can tell he loves his job! Would stay there again and highly recommend the hotel as a top-not h experience.

Omg completely in love with this place. Came to have a little staycation for our anniversary. We were a little nervous and intimidated coming in but the service was very helpful. We were hungry and went to the restaurant for breakfast. Got greeted by everyone. And when we told our server that it was our anniversary he went out of his way to get us the best picture and told us how to pose and everything. Favorite thing is Gabriel(the server) told us " if you wanna make everyone envious tell them you went to paris for your anniversary. They always buy it .

We recently stayed at The Westgate for Comic-Con. If you're familiar with the process, you basically put your name into the hotel lottery and hope for the best, and I definitely got lucky. It was my first time staying here, and hopefully not the last. Every single staff member I interacted with was warm, personable, and genuinely friendly. From the moment we arrived, the valet made us feel welcome and gave us a helpful lay of the land. Meli at the front desk checked us in and patiently answered all our questions. The hotel has a high-end, old-school charm, like something straight out of Mad Men. Our room was impressively spacious, very clean, and surprisingly quiet given the weekend crowd. I sent out for dry cleaning and it came back quicker than expected. When I called to request it, someone came to my room right away, just another example of how responsive the service was. The restaurant and bar were excellent, even though the main dining area was under renovation. If what we experienced was their temporary setup, then I’m excited to see the final version. The burger and stuffed pancakes were both delicious, and the bar served up well-crafted cocktails. I especially liked the Perfect Martini and the French 75 that I ordered. Location-wise, it was ideal for Comic-Con, walkable to the convention center, and also along the official shuttle route. Valet service was quick and efficient, which made things even easier. Considering the hotel was almost certainly at full capacity, the fact that everything ran so smoothly, and with such a personal touch, was genuinely impressive. I’m hoping I get paired with The Westgate again for a future Comic-Con, but even if not, I’ll definitely be returning for a vacation or weekend getaway.

The Westgate stands out as an oasis of luxury, beauty and old fashioned customer service in the heart of the Gaslamp District of San Diego. All Grand America hotels are unusual in that they prioritize luxury, quality and exceptional service. They must be a great place to work too because staff work there for years. I remember Gabriel from my visit to the Westgate 8 years ago and it was so nice to see him again this visit. The rooftop pool is a great spot to swim and great spot to watch both sunrise and moonrise. Brandon at the rooftop pool bar was welcoming and friendly. The rooftop gym is amazing. We had an all around great San Diego visit thanks to the Westgate.

Cruel, Unprofessional, and Unfit for Hospitality I stay at the Westgate San Diego often for work, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Three out of four elevators were out of service, and it took me over 15 minutes just to get downstairs. That alone was stressful enough, but the real problem was the front desk staff member (who seemed to be a manager). When I called to ask about the elevators, he answered with pure attitude instead of helping. Then, when I got downstairs to quickly buy an Evian water before heading to the airport, he intentionally dragged out the process. He kept saying things like “I entered my password wrong” or “I clicked the wrong thing,” wasting more and more time even though he already knew I was late because of the elevators. To make it worse, he claimed he couldn’t process my contactless payment until I told him if my card was Visa or Mastercard. That’s simply not true, I’ve paid for water here many times before without being asked that. The whole interaction felt cruel, like he went out of his way to make me miss my flight. Traveling for work is stressful enough. It’s not my fault the elevators were broken, but being treated this way by someone in hospitality is unacceptable. Just because I’m not personally swiping a credit card for the room doesn’t mean I deserve less respect, my employer pays for me to stay here, and we should all be treated as valued guests. This staff member either needs serious customer service training or should not be in that position at all. Hospitality is about helping people, not punishing them. If this is the behavior of a manager, then Westgate San Diego has a serious customer service problem.

Gaslamp Breakfast Company is a casual eatery featuring hearty breakfast options and cocktails. It is situated in the Gaslamp Quarter, and outdoor seating has recently reopened.
Found this place on Google when searching for a gluten free breakfast. Our waiter was so friendly and greeted us immediately. I asked him for a recommendation on which gluten free waffle to get. He said that the best on the menu was the buttermilk cornmeal waffle but to top it with the gluten free fried chicken!! I took his recommendation and I’m so glad that I did! I haven’t had fried chicken since I had to go gluten free several years ago, and this was the best I’ve ever eaten!!! This place was so good that I had to have breakfast on our last day in town because I haven’t found any place this good in Phoenix. I will definitely be back!!!

The Breakfast Company was clearly a popular spot, even early in the morning. We showed up around 8 a.m. on a weekday and the place was already buzzing with people. The energy was great, but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype for us. The food itself was fine, but it took quite a while to come out, and when it finally did, some of the orders were mixed up. Drink service was just as slow particularly coffee, tea and juice took longer than expected, and by the time they arrived we were already halfway into breakfast. I can see why the place draws a crowd, and maybe we just caught them on an off day. We might give them another try down the road, but for our next trip to San Diego we’ll probably explore other breakfast spots first.

The short version: excellent food, lovely atmosphere, and friendly service. Highly recommended. Longer version: We visited the Breakfast Company for breakfast on a Saturday morning. This was our first visit. We arrived at about 9am and the place was pretty packed. We sat at the counter, otherwise the wait would have been about 15 minutes. The drip coffee is delicious and smooth. My wife had a latte that had tumeric, ginger, and cinnamon. It smelled great. The food was hot and fresh. My wife, who ordered the Breakfast Flight, said that all the items on her flight were amazing. It was a ton of food, too. See the picture. The plate is as big as a skateboard. My American breakfast was very American. Huge portion. The star of the plate was the sweet breakfast sausage. They also offer a spicy sausage, which my neighbor on the bar are. He said it's great. He visits 3 or 4 times a week, so that should tell you something. On the table there is a sauce that is sort of like ketchup, but with a hint of spice. Delicious, and paired well with my breakfast potatoes. Highly recommended.

Vegan Benedict was fantastic! Our favorite though, was my Golden State Latte... could have drank 3. She had hot chocolate, and when asked if she wanted whipped cream... yes please. Yes... she is eating it with a fork. We ate outside so we could talk. Staff was very friendly and efficient for being very busy (20 min wait - worth it)!

The wait to be seated was fine, and we ordered our drinks right away a regular coffee for me and a "Wake Me Up" for my friend. Sadly, our drinks didn’t arrive until we were already halfway through our meal. My coffee was barely warm, the orange juice was room temperature, my friends wake me up was watered down and it felt like our server had forgotten about us. She never checked in, and when we were ready to leave, we waited around 10 minutes just trying to get her attention. Thankfully, another staff member helped us check out. The food was a mix of highs and lows. My chilaquiles were delicious the sauce was rich and full of flavor. On the other hand, my friend’s sandwich was soggy and, worse, had eggshells in it. Overall, the kitchen has potential, but the service and attention to detail need serious improvement.

The Gaslamp Breakfast Company is a must to return in San Diego. I had the Spicy shrimp and grits Chefs kiss (Asian inspired). Buttermilk pancakes and the American the bacon was a little over cooked but over all really good breakfast.

Café Madeleine South Park is a charming French-inspired cafe located in the heart of San Diego. It offers a delightful fusion of French cuisine and cozy ambiance, inviting guests to indulge in delicate crepes, delectable pastries, flavorful panini, and expertly crafted espresso drinks. The outdoor seating area with red umbrellas provides a relaxed setting for enjoying breakfast or a meal later in the day.
We stopped here because we were in the area and I don’t think I’ve ever tried a “French Restaurant”. The atmosphere is very nice, very France inspired of course. The outdoor seating was limited but decent. Pretty much tucked to the side of the building on the sidewalk and in front, but dog friendly. My Nutella crepe was great but I should have gotten bananas in it. Now that I’m writing this I’m really beating myself up over those bananas. My wife got a Tomato Mozzarella Panini and LOVED it. She just kept talking about this stupid panini the entire trip… I couldn’t even go an hour without her bringing it up. Anyway, the service was excellent and I will definitely be coming back here. If I didn’t my wife would kill me.

The ambience of the restaurant is so cute and cozy. We came in as a group of 5 and we were able to find seating outside. It’s a relaxing place to come out and have some late brunch with friends, family and your furry babies! The food was great. The Nutella crepes were very sweet! If you have a sweet tooth this is definitely the best plate for you. The ham and cheese croissant was just enough to fill my tummy. The smoked salmon plate was great with the Greek yogurt. Service was good. We were helped right away and the servers were very sweet. The negative star was for the French Spritzer since it wasn’t the best.

Café Madeleine is my go-to for a delicious and satisfying breakfast! I ordered a huge latte, and it was smooth, rich, and perfectly made—exactly what I needed to start my day. The croissant breakfast sandwich was just as amazing—flaky, buttery, and stuffed with fresh ingredients. Every bite was perfection! The cozy Parisian vibe, friendly service, and relaxed atmosphere make this spot a true gem in South Park. It does not matter if you're stopping by for a quick bite or lingering over coffee, this café never disappoints. Highly recommend!

We had a good breakfast here. Salmon Crepe was my favorite. Coffee wasn’t the best

Food was good but they kept forgetting our coffees and every time we asked about the coffees they forgot again. It took longer to get a refund because the manage was not around and there was no way to refund by credit card. Received cash instead. We did get refund and an apology at least. The other food did come out in reasonable amount of time. If you have a vegan in your party keep in mind only the north park location has a vegan option. The savory crepe was good. So were the potatoes. Fruit cup was good. Coffees went to someone else. Messing up is fine as long as we get correction, but if we already asked twice and still others are getting their coffees that arrived later than us and still mo resolution not ok.

Love this place! The vibe at Café Madelaine feels very Parisian—charming, cozy, and authentic. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I ordered a quiche and a French lemonade, and both were absolutely delicious. The quiche was flavorful and perfectly baked, and the lemonade had just the right balance of sweet and tart. I highly recommend stopping by for breakfast or lunch if you're in the area!

Hello! Just wanted to shoutout Ariana the server at Cafe Madeleine! Food was delicious! Ariana was kind, personable, professional! The crepes were fantastic! I had the pear crepe, and my fiancée' had the Nutella banana one. Vibes immaculate She helped us to feel at ease while we were anxious about the San Diego International airport Ground stop, which canceled all flights leaving on 09/17.

Bakery
Cafe
Wayfarer Bread & Pastry is a cozy bakery located in the laid-back coastal area of Bird Rock in La Jolla. Despite its beachy vibe, it's actually known for its top-notch sourdough loaves and an array of pastries, including the decadent Kougin Amann and the delightful Passion Fruit Cream Cheese Bun. The bakery also offers pre-made sandwiches and pizzas made with high-quality ingredients sourced from California farms.
There will be a line and you will wait in it. It’s worth it. The croissants are so perfectly flaky and probably the best I’ve ever had. I’ve tried the sourdough bread, a sandwich, and 6 pastries and loved them all. The service was also great - I asked for recommendations and wasn’t rushed when choosing the pastries for my box. Highly, highly recommend!
Mercedes H — Google review
My favorite style croissant. Shiny outside, butter smell, good old school french croissant. Sourdough! Same as croissan, good old style sourdough bread, texture inside is quite perfect with little sourness and wetness that I adore. 10/10. Quite quick service as well.
Rıdvan K — Google review
Good bakery. Decent line but moves quick. Almond croissant - very dense and almost seemed like it was baked a little too long. Ham and cheese crossaint needs more ham and cheese, was also dry. Baguette was really good! Kouign-amann was great The rounded crossaint with filling was also very good. Cappuccino was also excellent.
Keon H — Google review
Words cannot describe the absolute flakiness of the croissants. I can still hear the crunch the next day. The mushroom and corn cream bun way so surprisingly fabulous; Savory, creamy, crunchy yet sweet from the corn. Chocolate croissant hands down the best I’ve ever had. We brought home a loaf of sour dough. The dark crust has such a rich flavor and great chew. 10/10!
Amy K — Google review
I took my mom to Wayfarer Bakery when she came to visit me in San Diego because it had been one of my favorite spots. Unfortunately, this time was a letdown. The $6 croissant we ordered was disappointingly small (smaller than my hand) — much smaller than expected for the price. While I understand prices have gone up everywhere, the portion size just didn’t match the cost, and it left us feeling underwhelmed. I was really hoping to share a great bakery experience with my mom, but it fell short this time.

Such an awesome morning time stop. We grabbed some lattes and pastries.. the cinnamon bun and raspberry cream pastry. They were SO good! The staff is top tier along with all of their products. The lattes were delicious as well. There is usually quite the line so make sure to budget some time to wait, it’s worth it!
Alex I — Google review
Wayfarer has become a part of our rhythm — a place we return to week after week, year after year. For the past two years, it’s been more than a bakery to us. It’s a gathering place, a comfort, a small slice of magic tucked into our routine. Taco Tuesdays are legendary — no exaggeration. The meat is always tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of depth. Every bite speaks of care and quality. Then come Pizza Nights on the weekend, where the crust is golden and crackling, and each topping feels thoughtfully chosen. You can taste the difference — everything is made with top-tier ingredients. And then there’s the sourdough — airy, tangy, with that perfect crust. It’s bread that feels alive. But what truly makes Wayfarer special are the people. Keagan, Oz, Ashtyn, and Sarah bring warmth, kindness, and heart to every visit. They don’t just serve — they welcome. They remember. They elevate the whole experience. Wayfarer isn’t just a bakery. It’s a place that feeds the soul as much as the appetite.
Amin A — Google review
So I’ve had their incredible pastries but I had to post their pizza you can pre-order. This will change your life. The crust is as good as you would expect it to be given their pastries and the combination of flavors on this thing…no words. Order multiple because the idea of not having leftovers is devastating.

Carolina was an amazing server! She was very friendly and attentive. They are dog friendly as well which is a plus! The food and drinks were delicious. We got the mimosa flight, ube French toast, and birria Benedict. We had a wonderful time here. I live in the neighborhood and am excited to come back.

The wait for our food was about 40 minutes and it came out cold! Truffle fries were great! My sister kept calling the waitress, in the beginning to order our food she was great but then we never saw her. The food would've been good if it was warm and they already add 20% tip on your bill. She didn't deserve 20%. I was so hyped coming here 😞My mimosas were good
Ivonne T — Google review
The atmosphere is relaxed but vibrant. The staff was incredibly friendly and timely with attentiveness. My bene was cooked to perfection and they were not skimpy with the smoked salmon. That is much appreciated as I felt that I got what I paid for, in a very positive way. I will return on my next visit to San Diego.

Went here for brunch and had an amazing time. The pistachio espresso martini was surprising and very good, I would return for it. The mimosa flight was tastier than some other local places. It was busy and there were a couple of big groups but the service didn’t seem to suffer at all, our server was friendly and attentive. We had eggs benedict and the eggs were properly poached, the hollandaise was on point and the bites were balanced and fresh. The side of potatoes was good, fresh, yummy. We also had the chicken sandwich with truffle fries and enjoyed it as well. No complaints. It’s a vibe.

I thought this was gonna be one of the places where decor is the only good thing about it but no. The food was really really good. Flavors went so well together in everything we got. Steak was juicy and probably marinated in something delicious. Aloha latte was yummy and so was the pistachio foam. There was only 1 server for so many tables but she handled it well. Decor is obviously cute. I wish it was a bit warmer inside but that’s just me.
Daria — Google review
At The Vibe, Brunch Isn’t Just a Meal — It’s a Ceremony of Flavor From the very first step inside The Vibe, you know you're in for something different. No stiff, transactional greetings. No waiting around like you're doing them a favor by being there. The moment we crossed the threshold, we were wrapped in genuine warmth — a kind of electric hospitality that so many places promise but so few deliver. Carolina, our waitress, didn’t just "serve" us. She orchestrated our experience like a seasoned conductor — knowledgeable, attentive without hovering, passionate without the pretense. In a city (and an industry) often saturated with fake smiles and canned spiels, she was the real thing: a true ambassador of good taste. Now, the food. I started with the Kalian Uber French Toast, a dish that didn’t just land on the table — it arrived with swagger. Thick, golden, plush slices that somehow managed to be both airy and decadent at the same time. It wasn’t French toast. It was a love letter to French toast. Next to it, the truffle fries — golden, crisp, unapologetically fragrant — were the kind of sidekick every hero dish dreams of: bold, confident, and wholly necessary. We didn’t stop there. The AM Asada landed, a plate that might just qualify as a minor miracle. A generous portion of tender prime steak, cooked so perfectly it almost felt disrespectful to use a knife on it. The beans were rich, smoky, and honest. The eggs? A textbook lesson in balance — creamy, seasoned, soulful. And then there’s the atmosphere — which is where The Vibe goes from great to unforgettable. Clean lines, intentional decor, and most importantly, music that isn’t just background noise — it’s the heartbeat of the room. Whoever curated that playlist deserves a drink on the house. Each track elevated the morning, drawing you deeper into a rhythm where the food, the service, and the sheer energy of the place moved together in lockstep. I capped it all off with an Espresso Merakini — a sharp, refreshing jolt of caffeine that wasn’t just coffee; it was a final note that tied the whole experience together like a great encore at the end of an unforgettable concert. It’s not often a restaurant nails everything. Entrance. Greeting. Food. Service. Soundtrack. Setting. But The Vibe? They aren’t playing at it. They are it. Brunch at The Vibe isn’t just a meal. It’s a goddamn experience. And if you’re smart, you’ll make it part of your Sunday religion.

If I could give more than 5 stars I absolutely would! My boyfriend and I went here for the first time to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and after being seated we were immediately greeted by our waiter Peter. He was absolutely incredible, by the way we were dressed he asked if we were celebrating an occasion and he somehow knew it was for an anniversary. He came back with water and free glasses of champagne for us! The overall vibe of this place was perfect, and the FOOD oh my was it delicious. We ordered the yellowtail sushi and short rib potstickers, both were incredibly delicious, for our entrees my boyfriend ordered the scallops and I ordered the roasted chicken. Those chefs clearly know how to cook, everything was perfect. Peter then came back after we boxed up our meals with dessert on the house and a candle, I can't express enough how friendly and real that guy is, he truly is great at his job and made us feel so welcomed and nothing about his demeanor seemed forced. Our anniversary already is special and he made the night even better! 10000% will come back and 1000% recommend Peter as your waiter!

Cool spot with nice indoor vibe or comfortable outdoor seating. Delicious food and coffee. Service is great. Huevos rancheros had great flavor, not too spicy. Bloody Mary picante was good. The cinnamon French toast was made well but pretty sweet. Ordered the cleo latte and the wildflower half sweet and they were delicious.

Had a great time at The Henry this past weekend while visiting San Diego. Their offerings are delicious, including house-made salsa, a great breakfast burrito, and delicious bacon. Ambiance is really nice, there is music but it is laidback, feels like a quiet, calm escape, especially when contrasted to the somewhat rowdy Gaslamp District. The service is impeccable and the restaurant itself exudes this upscale-vibe I'm sure many would enjoy. Only downside is that we didn't like the coffee and the matcha. Otherwise, wonderful place that I would go out of my way to visit again!

Mind blowing flavor on most of the foods we ordered. Dont miss the appetizer and dessert. Omg, the molten cake, the most delicious dessert ever. The pretzel toffee filling inside the cake was genius! My teens loved the lemon cake with strawberry gelato. Gelato was so smooth, delicate, omg! The dropout coffee was so delish, a colombian coffee base, with caramel and chocolate in it was all complementing each other. Service was quick, friendly, n effective. The size of the entree was not big enough to get fully stuffed but it gave some room for dessert. Some entrees were overprice. Choose Smart! 🙂

Stunning elegant classy decor, all American confort and elegance. Beautiful bar, people watching. Friendly staff. Outstanding prompt attention. Wonderful drinks. Food was ok, my eggs Benedict were too poached, not runny to perfection and the crispy potatoes a tad too dry, muffin not toasty enough, but all these can be perfect for someone else’s taste. Next time I ll request perfectly poached runny eggs. Mimosas: get a bottle if you are two, gives you four mimosas. Now what made it top five stars: fresh squeezed pineapke and orange juices. Amazingly fresh. Spent about $120 for two. Breakfast and drinks. Had a wonderful time.

Great lunch spot! We went on a Friday and it was pretty busy, but we were able to get a table within 15 minutes. An extensive and eclectic menu, and the oysters were delicious! The burger was just so-so but I will definitely be going back for the chicken and avocado salad.

Nestled in the heart of La Jolla village, La Valencia Hotel has been a beloved destination since 1926. This Spanish-style hotel boasts elegant quarters, hand-painted murals, and stunning ocean views. The Mediterranean Room restaurant offers delectable international cuisine while the Old California-style La Sala lounge provides a charming ambiance with live music and an ocean view. Guests can choose from four distinct room types - Vintage, Classic, Icon, and Villas - each offering a unique experience.
La Valencia Hotel is nothing short of magical. Perfectly perched right on the bay, the views from my room were absolutely breathtaking. The staff was phenomenal—clearly well-trained and truly dedicated to making my stay perfect. They handled every (and I mean every) crazy request I had with a smile. There was a stunning wedding happening right outside my window during my visit, and the entire atmosphere felt straight out of a movie. The food? Top-notch—every bite was memorable. If you're looking for a luxurious getaway with unbeatable scenery and five-star service, this is the place. Can't wait to come back!

My wife and I fell in love with LaValencia a few years ago, and were delighted when our daughter Brittany and her husband Brandon decided to have their wedding there this September. From our first interaction with Bobby Fader, LaValencia's Director of Catering, he was a complete professional, and his assistant Dani was attentive, knowledgeable and amazing. As we live in the Chicago area and the bride and groom in L.A., their referrals for local florists, venues for after party and talent were all top notch. The day of the wedding we were so very well taken care of, with Dani seemingly everywhere at one time! We are so very grateful to the entire staff for helping us to put together this dream wedding, and we recommend LaValencia for anyone who wants to have an amazing event in one of the most beautiful venues in California.

I admit that I've never stayed at La Valencia hotel, I've only ever gone to the lounge for a drink and some nibbles. BUT... if the quality of service, well mixed cocktails, and tastiness of nibbles is anything to go by then I assume staying overnight in their hotel is pretty good. Every time my wife and I go there we get a table by the big window, a cocktail, some scooby snacks, and just chill out enjoying the view of the ocean and each other's company. Even when it's busy in there it's not loud like most lounges, which is nice. Every time we've been the service is always great, the cocktails are always soooooo tasty, and the food is very good. One of my favorite places to visit when I'm in San Diego.

La Valencia delivers. The location is ultra-walkable to downtown La Jolla, shopping, dining, and scenic walk to the cove. We booked an ocean-view suite sight unseen. Upon check-in, we were surprised there was no balcony and I would call our view "parking/rooftop view with ocean behind and to the far right"...but.... here is the good stuff. The Cove is a nice walk away down on-property stairs and an access controlled street gate. A huge park is between the hotel and the ocean. It is a nice place to walk and check out the sea lions. Lots of restaurants, hair salons, shopping, ice cream, and dining within a close walk. We went to the hotel table seating room for drinks and small bites. Had a few excellent rum runners and also got shrimp cocktail, hummus, and charcuterie. All excellent. Room was ready over an hour early which was nice. We had to check out super early 04:30 and valet parked our car out front...super convenient and much appreciated. Suite: decent, comfy, single sink and single restroom, no balcony, oceanview technically correct but not an amazing view. Room could have been cleaner. Shoes stuck to the floor in some spots. Clean and comfy bed. Dining/drinks: 10 out of 10. Fun date location with the wife. Got to chill and unwind with great drinks and bites. Location: crazy good. Service: great

This was our second time staying at La Valencia and it was a wonderful stay. Sitting by the pool is very relaxing and the drinks you get poolside are delicious. The food poolside is also good and you can order from the kids menu if you're not too hungry. We had dinner there and their vegan option was well received by my husband. We did have one issue with the room but it was dealt with swiftly. Will definitely stay here again!

Very nice hotel with great views. The pool area is beautiful and very comfortable. The rooms are spacious and nicely designed, the bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. Valet parking is available, which makes it easy to drop off your luggage and get settled. Our first room was on the 11th floor, where it was quite noisy due to a generator or some kind of machinery behind the wall that even made the bed vibrate. We reported it and were promptly given another room, which was quiet and very pleasant. Also the hotel as a great location:)

Loved my stay here! The hotel is stylish, clean, and the staff is very friendly. The only tiny thing I would improve is the sliding bathroom door, it doesn’t provide much privacy. But overall, still a fantastic experience! I would definitely come back.
Apollinaria W — Google review
I stayed at La Valencia Hotel, and while the views are beautiful and the location is great, the hotel itself feels very old and far from five-star quality. I stayed in the pet-friendly area (even though I don’t have a dog) because my friends traveling with me did, and I ended up getting flea bites — I’m allergic, so I know exactly what they were. It was awful, and I even brought fleas home in my luggage. The pool area was another disappointment — all the lounge chairs were taken, and there was nowhere to lie down and relax in the sun, which is unacceptable for a so-called luxury hotel. The food was okay, but nothing remarkable. Overall, it’s definitely not worth the price, the service, or the risk of fleas. What a nightmare!

Food was ok, not out of this world but good enough, came out fast and warm. Brunette cashier barista was nice and helpful with menu suggestions. The restaurant had a cool beachy decor and its inside a craftsman style home. Plenty of seating outside and some seating inside. Parking a little tough, 2hr limit and cannot park in those spots between 8-10a on Thursdays so that would not be the day to come here if you're intending to drive/park.

This place has not bad food, but you're mostly here for the vibes! The breakfast burrito was good and worth getting, but the French toast bites were a little too overly fried for my taste. Their smoothies were really good, but a quick callout to anyone with allergies/intolerances—I asked for mine without the coconut topping, and as you can see in the photo, I had less smoothie than my partner. As I drank it became apparent that this was because they had added the topping, realized that was a mistake, and then scooped it off, but had left a few pieces of coconut behind in the process. Totally fine for me, I'm not allergic, but just wanted to call it out for others! Overall, it's a very cute place to meet friends or sit and work outside while enjoying an average brunch, but it's definitely busy on the weekends.

The breakfast burrito here is unreal, definitely exceeded my expectations! It was a generous portion and well worth the price. The breakfast sandwich was decent, but if you’re deciding between the two, go with the burrito. The coffee was just okay, not a super bold flavor I prefer my coffee to have but does the job. Overall coming here with friends is a vibe and the service are all very sweet and kind.

This place was solid, but I only got an espresso shot (for context) as I was trying to find a cute little place to work; however, they didn’t have any outlets in the outside area (or none that I could see). That said, I still would check this place out because the food did look good. The espresso wasn’t bad either! Customer service was timely and the overall atmosphere was relaxed, calm, and chill, but it looks like it can get pretty busy as well

Waited 20 minutes for my soggy shrimp salad. Another 30 after that for my friends cold burrito she had to ask for them to microwave again (it never got warm). Another 20 after that for my friends sandwich. We all ordered at the same time. Our other friend ordered an acai bowl and there was deadass mold in her fruit y’all can’t be serious. Food is so mid and unbalanced, taste is nothing special at all you’re better off going anywhere down the street. I personally don’t like mold in my food but if you do then this is the place for you!!

9.4/10 California breakfast sandwich Honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The flavors really jump out at you. Pillow bread. Eggs flavor was paired perfect with the taste of the sausage, cheese, and aoli My only critique is the saltiness of the sausage but that's nitpicking. The Vanilla cold brew was also great. Nice subtle hint of vanilla. Not too bitter. Not too sweet. Great spot. Would absolutely recommend

I enjoyed my chicken sandwich "what came first?" ($10) + Combo hash brown and bottomless drip coffee (+$4). Menu and decor are fun, service from a young guy was pretty good. The place is really tiny though, with 5 counter chairs and a small bench (with no table) outside. I went with a baby in a stroller and a toddler, so it was a bit hard to eat there. Would get to-do next time, but then I won't get my much needed bottomless drip coffee! ☕

I walked by this place after church, this is easily the best egg sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. It is located in downtown, parking may be an issue but if you find parking it's absolutely worth it. Is incredibly reasonably priced. This sandwich can eaibe 20$ and it's only 10.00. God bless it. It has indoor and outdoor seating. It's a beautiful place to people watch and have brunch. Insane, my new favorite spot. I can't wait to take my son here.

I’ve been here three times since I’ve been visiting San Diego. It’s been my go to breakfast place. I’ve tried the BLT and the California both are excellent. The sandwiches are hardy. A sandwich and coffee is under $14 and You’re definitely getting it a good amount of food for the dollar amount. You’ll definitely be full. Everything is fresh and taste delicious and the service is very accommodating. I will for sure return to this place many more times

The egg sandwich is high quality. I loved it, The sausage is very tasty and different, prices are normal for SD.

Tried Eggies with a friend after hearing a few good things, but honestly, it was a disappointing experience. We ordered two sandwiches and ended up waiting 45 minutes—which might be understandable if the place was packed, but it really wasn’t. When I politely asked the server about our order, he hit me with a sarcastic “here, have fun” as he handed over our food… which was cold, by the way. Not exactly the vibe when you’re just trying to enjoy brunch. To top it off, he forgot our drink order, and when I reminded him, he seemed annoyed. No apology, no sense of urgency—just attitude. The food itself wasn’t terrible, but definitely not worth the wait or the energy. Plenty of better options around San Diego where the service matches the hype. Probably won’t be back.

The average wait time is 25 to 30 minutes but my food was ready beforehand. Customer service was non-existent that day but I came for the breakfast. The sandwich was really good the only thing that ruined it for me was a sausage was sweet. I wasn't prepared for that but overall it was a good breakfast and I really enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice.

My first time here & it was DELICIOUS Incredibly filling & the overall aesthetic is so cute. I love the jars, I got both the hash & the French toast & it was soo tasty! Drove about 20 minutes to get back to my house & it was all still hot & the "What Came First?" Sandwich was still crispy! The worker there was welcoming & friendly, will definitely be going back to try their other sandwiches! French toast jar: the granola on top was delicious & the strawberries seemed fresh & were nicely cut. Potato Hash jar: so delicious, beautifully cooked bacon. What Came First sandwich: super crispy fried chicken, perfectly tangy pickles. The eggscelent sauce is the perfect spiciness. BLT: the bottom bun was soggy (but as I said I drove home first) but of course it had tomatoes so if makes sense. Really, really tasty, the sausage patty was super flavorful! I'll add more to this review if I try more 😋

Clayton's Coffee Shop is a nostalgic, old-fashioned landmark that offers classic American meals, coffee, and pie in a vintage setting. The diner features cherry-red booths, countertop jukeboxes playing golden hits, and ice-cold milkshakes. It is known for its original horseshoe counter dating back to 1939. Guests can enjoy the historic ambiance while socializing at the iconic countertop or opt for sidewalk pick-up.
The service staff were very friendly and observant. The restaurant had a classic ambiance. The historic horseshoe bar was a great place to sit and enjoy our food. Our meal started well with tasty biscuits and gravy, and my fiancé's chicken fried steak was satisfying. We'll definitely come back, what a lovely spot.

This is a must see and eat location on the beautiful Coronado Island. This is our second time making it to this dinner and the atmosphere along with the service are just a great experience that brings you back to a bright 1940's. The variety of food including American and Mexican food provides a good mix for breakfast and lunch combination that will keep you coming for more. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros which was a decent portion with my eggs cooked as requested. Seating is limited, but the food and drinks comes fast so we got seated in a decent time. We will be back again to enjoy Clayton's coffee house!

Love this place!!! Vibe is 60/70's diner. My husband and I was Visiting the area and decided to patron a small business. So glad we did! Everything is made from scratch! Awesome food, made to order. Staff was very welcoming, warm, and great customer service. We had the Philly Steak and Cheese w/ a huge Honey Bun to go. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely return!

This place is a gem. We stumbled upon it on our last day of vacation as we were visiting Coronado island and on a 1.5 hr waitlist for what looked like a delicious but pretentious restaurant that was nearby. After finding out that a wait for a table at Clayton’s was only 10 minutes, we decided to eat there instead. We sat at the counter and our server Jaxy was great. My husband and I ordered her suggestion of the carnitas and chorizo hash with a cinnamon glazed pancake. My daughter had a hot dog and fries. Everything was delicious and the retro vibe of the place is super cute and colorful. The music was fun too; a combo of 80’s and 90’s alternative/new wave. Super happy we stopped in here instead because by the time we left, the other restaurant texted to say our table was ready. Thanks for the awesome time, Clayton’s - you made our day.

I came here years ago and still remember the 50’s diner feel. I was delighted come back and experience it again. Hasn’t changed a bit. So glad to see a small diner like this survive in such a beautiful place. Perfect place for a burger or breakfast. Everything on the menu is looks amazing. Shakes are killer!

We had awesome service by Dern! He was polite, friendly and outgoing. (Killer now tie too!) He made our experience so fun! I even witnessed his care for his customers as I watched him ensure an elderly man did not fall walking to the bathroom. Also, he seemed to interact positively with his teammates too. Thanks Dern! The facility and restrooms were clean. It was like stepping back in time. There are a lot of nostalgic things to take in. My husband and I split a classic hamburger, crinkle fries and a strawberry malt. All of it was delicious. My husband said, “if we lived here, I’d be a regular.”

Great location for anytime of the day. Wasn’t too crowded on the two occasions that I have visited. Ordered the Prime Ribeye which came with a lot of sides. I would have to say that I’m only giving 3 stars because the dish overall felt a bit too greasy, vegetables were heavy with oil which I wasn’t a fan of. Was looking for something lighter. Fries were fried perfectly, would highly recommend. The steak itself was a bit greasy and thin, but it tasted fine. Would go to a steak restaurant though for steak next time. Will have to say that though the tortilla chicken soup was small, it was very good. Will be coming back to taste more of the menu.
Commandobolt — Google review
My daughter and I tried Clayton’s Cafe for the first time. We went during the non busy hours so we did not feel crowded. We really enjoyed the classic 40’s cafe atmosphere. The service was excellent and our food was delicious. We ordered a BLTA with an egg, the Black Forest Ham croissant sandwiches , with sweet potato fries on the side. For drinks we ordered a coffee, and a matcha iced tea. Good quality food ! Photos don’t do justice! You definitely receive your money’s worth! We look forward to going back again.

Richard Walker's Pancake House is a beloved breakfast spot in La Jolla, Southern California, known for its generous portions of pancakes, baked omelets, and crêpes. Established in 2006 by the Walker Family, this restaurant exudes a comforting and family-friendly atmosphere. The menu features gourmet pancakes, with the famous baked Apple pancake being a standout option that fills the air with a delightful aroma.
we found this place by accident. It was amazing. The food was so delicious. We have four children who were very happy when they left. One ordered the Belgian waffle with strawberries. Two children ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, which were delicious. And one order the chocolate crêpe, which was amazing. The atmosphere is open and friendly. Highly recommend.

This was my third time dining here. The Classic Eggs Benedict was just okay, but the German pancake and baked apple pancake were both tasty and delicious. The avocado toast was also quite good. Our server was polite and friendly, but the food took a long time to arrive at our table.
Mah M — Google review
Richard Walker’s Pancake House was a nice breakfast stop during our time in San Diego. It’s located in a prime area. We were able to park nearby and take a short five-minute walk down to La Jolla Cove afterward, which made for the perfect morning. The restaurant itself is clean, bright, and clearly popular with locals. Now, I’ll be honest… the neighborhood is very homogenous, and being the only Black family in the restaurant felt a bit underwhelming. The overall vibe was polite but not particularly warm or welcoming. Our waiter was nice enough, just not the kind of engaging service I’m used to in more diverse or lively spots. San Diego’s culture definitely has a more reserved feel to it, which took some getting used to. As for the food, it was good but a little on the bland side. Be prepared to reach for the salt and pepper! My son thought his meal was a “10 out of 10,” but what does he know lol? (He’s very easy to please when it comes to breakfast!) The pancakes were fluffy, the portions were very generous—we could’ve shared and everything came out hot and fresh. All in all, it’s a solid breakfast choice with good food, friendly enough service, and a great location. Not the most flavorful meal I’ve had, but definitely worth a stop if you’re in the La Jolla area.

Have to get here early! There is always a wait past 9am. Easy to park and our waiter Liam was amazing. The prices are great for La Jolla. The wait for the food is a little long but still great if you have company. My plate is the kid size pancake breakfast! Huge servings!

An assortment of breakfast items that are unique, such as their extremely delicious apple baked pancake! Service was phenomenal, especially our server Liam!!! In addition to its casual atmosphere and craft drinks, Werewolf also serves an eclectic breakfast and brunch menu with classic dishes like biscuits and gravy alongside unique offerings such as pork belly benedict and pancakes with raspberry jelly filling.
This place saved us when we got turned down from another diner for some late breakfast / brunch food. We did not have reservations and they were willing to seat us and quickly! To start off with drinks we ordered the World Famous Irish Coffee and the Espresso Martini. The Irish Coffee is a little on the sweeter side so would recommend the martini if you’re not into that. My bf also ordered the Werewolf Double Bloody and was served in this skull mug, very cool! For brunch we ordered the Pork Belly Benedict , which was both sweet and salty. The potato cake underneath really complemented it well! Th Steak Scramble was well seasoned and serviced with a side of flour tortilla. You can make your own mini breakfast tacos! To be extra we had to order the Cinnamon Roll Cake and it is huge! Perfect for sharing. The vibe was relaxed and laid back. Plenty of seating available, from the bar to the booths and long communal tables. This place is dog friendly as there were some when we dined in. The service was great as well. The waitress Fiona was helpful with suggestions and bothered to remember my name. Thank you!

Man this bar is super cool! The vibe and the staff are both awesome! It was definitely very popular and even louder! They played music at lunch time and had a DJ during breakfast. But even if you're not into the vibe, you should go here for the FOOD! It was all absolutely 10/10 we loved it. Try the country fried steak for brunch or the sliders for lunch!

Good food and a fun atmosphere that allowed us to bring our two small dogs. They have a live DJ. It was kind of loud for the dogs but I appreciated how accommodating they were in letting us choose where to sit and everyone was very friendly with us and the pups. They service did not rush us to finish and leave which helps it to feel like a relaxed experience. Buying bubbles by the bottle was a great price.

Went here for the first time prior to a Padres game. It was between parking and the stadium with good reviews, so we figured we’d try it. We thankfully missed the rush and were able to get startled relatively early. The multiple TVs made my need to follow my football pool easy and the staff were truly top notch. Add to that delicious food (we got the Cali Burritio and cinnamon roll pancakes and were so pleased! The music was bumping, which added to the fun. We’ll be back!

Very loud. We had to wait about an hour to get seated which was fine. Once we were seated it seemed like no one knew we were there- it took about 30 mins for someone to come over and take our drink order and then it took them 20 mins to drop off the drinks, and no one offered to take our food order- finally a different guy came over and took our food order.
Amanda D — Google review
Service and atmosphere were 👌. Food was good too, but not spectacular. We sat with our dog in the back booth, and Fiona, the bartender, served us. She was so friendly, talked to us using our first names, and printed out the draft list for our table. The papas balls are good, but again, not incredible. We had the wonton sliders, which were unique, though the burger patty itself wasn’t seasoned with anything. We had a delicious espresso martini and a good, strong mai tai. Another bartender brought our pup a water bowl. Fiona also told us about Dusty Rhodes park for our dog and it was an incredible time!

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay in San Diego, Olive Cafe is a charming daytime spot known for its cozy atmosphere and hearty menu. Olive Cafe offers a leisurely breakfast experience without electronic dance music, making it an ideal spot for coffee chats and scones.
We were brought here by locals and now I understand why! This place is great. We came here for brunch and loved it. You wait in line to order and find available seating. They have outdoor and indoor seating, but overall it's not a huge place. People usually are coming and going fairly quickly though. We tried the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and the Breakfast Quesadilla. Both were so delicious! Would get them again no doubt! They also have a great coffee menu, too. Really enjoyed the vibe here! It's only 1 block off of Mission Beach which is perfect for a post-brunch walk or beach day. Definitely add Olive Cafe to your list!

Stopped here for brunch and got a chicken sandwich on a brioche bun, it was enjoyable but could have used a little more flavour… I used the salsa from the chips. It did have a very nice atmosphere and everyone was friendly. I would recommend that the chairs be checked as we sat on two broken ones and had to swap them out with others from other tables.

Located in Mission Beach, San Diego, CA on Santa Clara Place, this restaurant provided a nice brunch spot for our family. We had a party of 7 and there was a table large enough for us. Some of the things we orderedwere the Breakfast Quesadilla, Breakfast Burrito, and pancakes w/ bacon. Most of the seating is outside on the deck. Tables have umbrellas for shade. Parking is hard to find.

The restaurant was busy when we were there for lunch on a weekday. It's at a good location but parking can be a challenge. We went kayaking at Mission Bay sportscenter and walked over for lunch after working up an appetite. We lined up to order and the line was pretty slow going. They have a big menu with lots of items that sounded delicious. My meal was a little greasy. The bread was good though.

Came on Memorial Day, and it was packed. Order at the registers, then find a seat. Plenty of seating, even after waiting 20 min to order, I found a table right away. Ordered the machata burrito and a latte. The latte was tasty, but you can tell it was made in a rush. The burrito was delicious, beef and eggs were cooked and seasoned well. Hot sauce and pico de gallo on top of the burrito gave it a nice touch. Plenty of servers walking around making sure everyone is taken care of (needing a to-go box, a table cleaned, extra napkins, etc.) Not a cheap place to dine, but definitely an enjoyable breakfast.

Stayed at the hotel next door and was surprised to see this place next door. I didn't do too much research when book the hotel. Very pleasant surprise. They also have a bakery up the street so I would assume the baked good they offer are fresh from that bakery. Coffee was excellent and the menu was basic, simple diner but very good. I had Chilaquiles and the Sultan (chorizo) scramble. Both excellent and fast. The interior, it's basically a enclosed porch with windows. But if you're staying close by, a very good place for breakfast.

The cafe's quaint one-story house has been transformed into a delightful coffee shop with an inviting outdoor patio that provides a peaceful retreat from the bustling streets.
What a great little spot for breakfast/brunch. Had their breakfast wrap, and it was delicious. It had everything that you would want for breakfast in a wrap. A little under seasoned, but there's a self-serve station with condiments, salt and pepper. Outdoor seating by a not-so-busy street. Also had their maple glazed scone, it's the perfect size if you crave a little dessert after your meal, 12/10, really inexpensive as well. Definitely recommend.

Visited this coffee shop today while hanging in La Jolla. Order caramel Machiatto iced and they our whip cream which was treat. It was delicious. Then I order the chipotle turkey sandwich which was also good. The ladies working there were very nice and attended to me right away when I walked it. I sat on the patio and read for a little while which was nice. Great place to pop in for a coffee, pastry or sandwich.

They deserve 4 maybe 5 stars depending on what pastry you get. But I am giving them 3 stars because.....The Brick & Bell in LaJolla no longer offers cheese danishes. 😭 One of our highlights when we vacation in La Jolla. Nothing else matters but the French toast! Everything else was good. Great delicious. Call it what you want but the French toast was the highlight of my day! They have transitioned from using Dark Horse coffee to producing their own Pot Head Coffee Beans for their beverages. Their menu features house favorites like Basic Sitch and La Vida Mocha.
I visited this bagel shop a few years ago and have been eager to return, and I finally got the chance! This place is incredible. The bagels are soft, freshly made, and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the Lox, Stock & Bagel, while I went with the Cabo-Cado Toast Bagel, and both were phenomenal! I also tried the Cinnamon-Bee Latte, which was perfectly crafted and so tasty. I love the open-concept design with large windows that fully open, creating a great atmosphere. It seems they share the space with another restaurant/arcade shop, which adds to the unique vibe. The service was excellent, the space was spotless, and I can’t wait to come back for another visit!

We stopped by Spill the Beans for breakfast while exploring the Gaslamp District. The spot is easy to find with a bright exterior and plenty of open outdoor seating — perfect for a relaxed morning. Even though there was a line, it moved quickly, and the staff were friendly and efficient. I ordered the San Diego bagel sandwich and a cold brew. The flavor was great, but the bagel itself could have been a bit fluffier and more toasted for that perfect bite. The ambiance was pleasant with music at a comfortable level, though the sound from the bar next door sometimes spills over, especially if there’s a game on. Food: 4/5 – Great taste, slightly dense bagel. Ambiance: 4/5 – Nice vibe but a bit noisy. Service: 5/5 – Fast and friendly. Overall, a great spot to grab coffee and breakfast before starting your day in downtown San Diego.

Cool atmosphere, like the Coffee Pot theme. The bagel order requested 'toasted dark' yet served warm (presumably steamed, not toasted). The second bagel was a specialty gruyere and onion but it did not have any flavor punch, okay but could've been much better Coffee and Cocoa were of good quality and hot.

Ordered from door dash… a bit pricey but I Got a bagel sandwich that was basically untouched by the toaster—why is toasting not standard for these guys? Luckily I was home, Three minutes in the air fryer later, the texture and flavor were totally transformed into one of the best bagels I’ve had in SoCal. And I’m from New England, so that’s basically the highest carb honor I can give. We also got The sun-dried tomato bagel with chive spread… it was next level!

We decided to share our orders: a salmon bagel, turkey on an English muffin, and prosciutto with hot honey and goat cheese. Everything was delicious, the perfect Sunday morning for a quick family get-together. I highly recommend giving them a try! There is a nursery next door- North Park Nursery- check out my review with pics! Great service!

Very good place overall. Their regular latte and salted caramel latte are both excellent, depends if you’re in the mood for sugary drink or not. I tried few bakery and breakfast items, and all of them were pretty good. I tried butter croissant, almond croissant, prosciutto breakfast croissant, and smoked salmon bagel. All options are excellent. Their prosciutto breakfast is more buttery than I would like it to be, so maybe they need to go easy a little on the butter. Wait time can be little long, but on average it is ~ 10-15 minutes. Overall I would give this place a solid 9/10.

This is one of my new favorites in the north park area. The combination of good coffee, great staff, and plenty of seating won me over. They have a great combination of outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating. Even with plenty of people there, there was still seating throughout. We love coldbrew and even though they didnt have an option to sample the mint coldbrew they had, they offered to give a bit of the surup to make a little sample using the one we ordered which is super nice. We were also able to get it in a glass rather than plastic which is great as well. My only nitpick is that glass should be the default for people getting it for there. The atmosphere is great too. While it is designed for buying the products they sell, it is nice items that are laid out in a way that adds a great look to the place. Overall a great spot.

This was easily one of the cutest cafés I’ve been to in San Diego! My friend took me there because I wanted a cozy spot to work from. The vibe, the aesthetics, everything was a solid 10/10. I ordered a sakura matcha (which I think could’ve been better), but the lavender one was chef’s kiss. Also had a turkey bagel sandwich don’t remember the exact name, but oh my god, it was SO good. Everyone else loved their food too, so safe to say this place is a hit!

Great place to do some work on your laptop. They have a nice ambiance, they have power for your devices, a lot of different seating areas, a very tasty versatile and trendy menu. They even have mimosas! The food was really good.

This is a cute, relaxing place that sits next to a plant nursery. The outside patio is quiet, away from the street. Inside is decorated with a cottage feel. Avocado toast was very good but I would have loved fresh avocado slices instead of a spread. The kids options are why we came. My daughter had the. Chocolate steamer. They have several options.
Marie L — Google review
Absolutely loved the ambience and service up. Lots and lots of space indoors and out with a cozy atmosphere. Coffee and food was quite good. Definitely a great spot for coffee lovers.
Kashan P — Google review
Communal Coffee is an absolute gem! I had their Latte and the Spiced Pumpkin Latte—both were amazing. The lattes were perfectly crafted with rich, smooth flavors, and the Spiced Pumpkin Latte had just the right amount of seasonal warmth. The café itself has such a cool, welcoming vibe with its unique decor and cozy atmosphere. It’s a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a quiet coffee. Highly recommend for any coffee lover!

Patisserie Melanie is a charming pastry shop founded by Chef Melanie Dunn, who honed her skills in Paris and earned the Diplo de Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu. The boutique offers handmade French pastries crafted in small batches at the chef's home kitchen above the shop. Although it temporarily closed due to the pandemic, Patisserie Melanie is set to reopen in a new North Park location soon.
I’ve been going to Patisserie Melanie for months now. Their pastries are consistently good and the staff is so friendly. The aesthetic is clean, simple, and modern. Compared to Izola, I think this place wins. Izola has huge pastries, and their stuff is good too. But the flavor of these pastries are unbeatable. I don’t know what kind of butter they use, but it’s delicious.
Jovany E — Google review
Was so happy to see this open in our neighborhood. My wife loves pastries and I love a great cafe experience and having something we could walk to was exciting. After my first experience here I will never step foot in this store ever again. Extra star for the pastries because I want to be as fair as possible. The pastries were good. I didn't think they were exceptional, we didn't finish all of them, but I wasn't sad about them at all. The apricot filling was especially tasty. The tea I had was good too, steeped appropriately and just what I wanted. The atmosphere is fairly nice. They have custom ceramicware which is pretty if a little impratical in the way the handles are shaped on the cups. The problem came with the service. We sat in the cafe for our breakfast and the employee that rung us up proceeded to come out and "clean" tables less than 5 feet from us for an uncomfortably long time (over 15 mins). We were one of the first people in the store, it was pristine already. Then he finally left and proceeded to come sweep less than 5 feet from us for over 10 mins. We were some of the only customers in the lobby. The whole time he kept looking over to our table, I caught him straight up staring at us more than once. We felt very unwelcome and honestly a little creeped out. I'm a pretty boring person and we weren't talking about anything particularly interesting so not sure why he felt compelled to listen in but we ended up leaving early. Never ever again.

We have been a bunch of times and it has been delicious every time. The pistachio croissant is a staple for us. The lattes, teas, matcha and iced coffee have all been great. It’s a nice place to sit and talk, great light and comfortable atmosphere.
Amanda P — Google review
The decor is very nice and the croissant I had tasted really good. It seemed a bit disorganized and unfriendly though even though there were only a few customers. I ordered a Paris Fog and when she handed it to me she said it looks light but it's made correctly. It tasted just like a plain cup of milk though. You cannot get the brunch items until 90 minutes after they open so we had to choose a pastry but there were only about 6 options.
Lynn S — Google review
Patisserie Melanie keeps surprising me with incredible pastries. Their kouignette is absolutely sublime. I usually get my order to go, but everything I have tried has been top quality. In my opinion, it is one of the best pastry spots in San Diego. Prices are on the higher side but totally worth it.
Paulina O — Google review
A beautiful boutique-esq cafe with a reasonably priced Espresso menu full of variety, delightful decadent pastries, and knowledgable owner who was an absolute treat to get recommendations from! I’d always passed by Patisserie Melanie during its off hours and was always curious by the cute and quaint abode. I was fortunate enough to pop by before work today and hope to visit MORE in the future (Dinner perhaps..?)
Israel G — Google review
Great first experience at this establishment. Croissants were flaky and buttery. My cappuccino was well made and very good. No complaints.
Antoni A — Google review
We saw that the patisserie was open after 5 pm, so we'd originally stopped by before dinner to hopefully pick up some pastries. It turns out they have regular dinner service during those hours, but they did have 2 boxes of leftover croissants. We got a box of 2 butter, 2 chocolate, and 2 cheddar paprika for $15+tax - they were all delicious and had excellent lamination. The next morning, we stopped by because many reviews mention the kouign amann, which is my favourite viennoiserie. However, there was only the kouignette, which was disappointingly dense and somehow filled with cinnamon - this was closer to a 3D palmier than a kouign amann. Not saying palmiers aren't delicious, but I would've expected something with softer, fluffier layers for something with a similar name as kouign amann.

Nomad Donuts is a vibrant and cozy spot in North Park that offers an array of globally inspired donuts, wood-fired bagels, and coffee.
All bagels are vegan, they have an epic vegan menu, and the non-vegan donuts are labeled "NV". So many great options and kind staff. 10/10 recommend.
Rebecca C — Google review
We went twice during our long weekend! The staff was so nice during our first time when we couldn't decide between the Day at the Fair (strawberry funnel cake) and Blueberry, that she gave the Blueberry as a freebie. It worked out because I loved the funnel cake one and my husband loved the Blueberry. We also shared the Salmon Gravlax bagel and WOW, so delicious and comforting with the toasty bagel. On our 2nd visit, we got the Vegan Shawarma Bagel, the Apple Pie donut and the Guava Cream Cheese. All phenomenal and surprisingly not too sweet. We're definitely coming back for more on our next SD trip! :)
Alice L — Google review
I’ve only eaten their bagels with cream cheese and I keep coming back for more. 5 stars for the bagels! They are chewy, yet tender, perfect bite and airiness, not too dense. The cream cheese is so creamy and they use fresh herbs in the garlic herb. The fruit cream cheese is nice for a sweeter tooth, but it’s not overly sweet. The bagel is even delicious after sitting for a few hours. They also wrap them very nicely. The sesame bagel has a delicious flavor when extra toasted, because of the sesame seeds. I also recommend the zaatar flavor bagel. Truly, I’m sure all the flavors are tasty, it’s just a matter of preference. Best bagels in San Diego in my humble opinion.
Rae V — Google review
I’m a huge sucker for vegan donuts and this place did not disappoint! They were super tasty and the staff were super nice! They were super willing to explain all the options and help with dietary restrictions. Highly recommend!!

Za’atar bagel is a must try, the rosemary is a closed second. Nice selection of crafty donuts as well and everything is very reasonably priced! Will definitely come back

Carnitas sandwich with a jalapeno bagel is a must. The secret sauce on the chopped cheese is the most overbearing mustard on the planet. Ask for it without the “secret sauce”.
Matt T — Google review
We ordered the Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham and the Baogel, and a variety of donuts. The bagels were okay, but they did not amaze me. After a few bites I felt the need to check to make sure I had eggs on mine (my wife says the egg stood out, though). The bagels were flavorful and creative, soft, and filling. The price was good. The donuts were interesting. The dough was cakey, but we found it lacking the savory, sweet, fatty punch you look for in donuts. We really loved the orange creamsicle donut. Overall, it was good and we would go back to try more donut flavors, would recommend.
Tyler W — Google review
The service here is always amazing, the atmosphere is great, but the food…. Never ceases to amaze me. I like to try new items just about every time I come here and I am always very pleasantly surprised by their mix of flavors and original taste. The donuts (even vegan) are always delicious. I’ve also tried many of their fun bagel sandwiches—each so unique and flavorful! This time I tried their carnitas tacos—so yummy!! I’ll add that I am super picky with tacos and these were phenomenal. Their menu is so versatile and even so, everything I’ve tried has been incredibly delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone. (:

Restaurant
Farmer & The Seahorse is a sprawling Torrey Pines restaurant with a contemporary kitchen and rustic-chic decor. Chef Sam Deckman has prepared a special Valentine's menu featuring a 3-course meal with options like Artichoke Hearts, Filet Mignon, Creamy Mushroom Pasta, Scallops, and delectable desserts. The cocktail menu offers an array of drinks including mimosas, sangrias, and high-test libations like Coffee Spike.
My wife had to stop by her lab on a Saturday which was close by so we decided to try this place that was recommended by her co-workers. Wow, am I glad we did! I would come for the Pop-Tart alone. You had me at homemade Pop-Tart. Well worth the money. The food was very high quality and well prepared . The service was very attentive. We always had a full water bottle and all our needs met. The only bobble was the seed lip not making it into my drink originally, but the waitress recognized it, rectified the situation and apologize. As long as the weather is good, this is a great happening patio. They had a singer/guitar player, and the music level was perfect for enjoyment but still allowing us to talk easily. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be

The atmosphere and service are great. A classy venue for professional events as well as a pleasure dining experience. Beautiful design, exterior and interior. The food that I have experienced here is not up to par with the rest of the establishment. I expect better chopped vegetables, nicer plating and a goggles lever of flavor. There is definitely room for improvement on food front. The rest is great. I recommend it as an experience, but take a look at the menu beforehand and don’t expect too much. A decent meal, just not top notch.

I'm here every few months for a business lunch. The staff are always cheerful and helpful. The food is always well thought out, plated beautifully and delicious! I've had nearly everything on the menu and, do far, I haven't had anything that I don't like. The coffee ☕️ is fantastic with a good number of selections. The desert is always my absolute favorite! It never disappoints. Recently, I had panacota with berries and a lemon drizzle ... omggggg I was in heaven. It was beautifully executed, and I wish I had ordered more. When I'm in the area and have time to pop by, this is a wonderful place to visit.

This was the choice to celebrate Heather's birthday and it was such a great place. We were there right when they opened and our server, Creed, was very attentive. I started with the salted maple latte. We shared the fig and ricotta toast, which I could have ate so many pieces of by myself. I had the Clafoutis and it came with a delicious salad. He had the lobster benny with salad and fries. And Heather went for the fried chicken with biscuits and gravy. Creed then brought us cookies for the birthday girl, which were just the perfect way to end the meal.

I visited Farmer & The Seahorse two weeks ago with a large party and it was a 10/10 experience. I had initially visited to see if it was a suitable place to have a lunch after a funeral at Miramar National Cemetery, and it definitely was. It was an easy drive, suitable parking, and our table for 14 was ready for us upon arrival. I can’t say enough good things about the staff, service, and delicious, fresh food. We ordered a variety of menu items and not only were all meals beautifully presented at the same time, but the staff were more than helpful and pleasant. There are a variety of menu items available for those that do not care for seafood (my son raved about the smash burger), but the menu does lean towards the sea-side. I had the Mediterranean shrimp salad and it was perfectly created with the most flavorful shrimp, along with a refreshing cucumber mocktail. All I can really say to sum up our lunch is that the staff (and an extra thank you to our Maitre D’!) made our very meaningful meal even more enjoyable and pleasant that I could have hoped for and I truly appreciate all of the extra attention, although I believe that is their normal level of service. Outside seating is very pleasant and can even be cool as it was the day we were there since we’re so close to the ocean. Added bonus - their restrooms are super nice!

We had a quick brunch here, we like the restaurant location, very special. Its also easy to find parking, and offer great outdoor view.
Janey G — Google review
A.... Fun, lively, mostly outdoor venue restaurant. Our large party including children; went to enjoy BRUNCH. The atmosphere is relaxed and very casual. They had live music, a large grassy area for lawn games and a place for kids to run around. I did find the menu a bit limited but everyone was mostly satisfied with the choices they made. We started with their pastry basket for which I can say was very ordinary. And, someone also ordered one of their Pop-Tarts (a quince selection) which they deemed underwhelming. I ordered the Quiche Florentine which was a generous slice of creamy egg cooked to perfection that I thoroughly enjoyed. A guest had French Toast with everything ordered on the side which they graciously accommodated. Although they would have preferred that the syrup was separated from the fruit. Two different orders of Benedict dishes were ordered: the Lobster & the Classic "Benny's". Both of those were excellent. Then two orders of Chicken Chilaquiles were ordered, again these choices were well enjoyed. Lastly two children's orders of French Toast with bananas were added to our brunch. The children's portion sizes were impressively huge and the kids were very satisfied. Our table enjoyed iced teas, mimosas, freshly squeezed orange juice along with exceptionally aromatic and deeply roasted Cafe Americanos. We were a bit disappointed with the consistency of the orange juice as some of the glasses came out weaker than others. All in all it's a beautiful venue, very casual and relaxing. Our wait staff was very friendly and attentive, coming by often to check on our needs.
P K — Google review
This restaurant has a great atmosphere and a peaceful location. I can imagine that the setting would be very nice in the evening, with patio lights, and space heaters on a cold night. The food, however, was somewhat less than flavorful. Nothing special about the food… although I heard great things about their lobster dishes (I did not order their lobster due to a shellfish allergy). I did have their fish tacos, and my daughter their eggs benedict, and all I can say is that the food was exceptionally ordinary. The staff were very nice initially, but after paying the bill, they never came back to the table to ask about things like refilling the water, or if perhaps we might want anything else. In fact, after taking our order and dropping off the bill, I don’t think I ever saw our waiter again. I wouldn’t make any effort to come back, but if friends were planning to go there, I’d of course join them.

Parakeet Café has multiple locations in La Jolla, Little Italy, Del Mar, and Coronado. It is known for its health-conscious menu featuring vegan, gluten-free, keto, and paleo options. The café offers a variety of dishes such as cacao waffles and wellness lattes for brunch. In Coronado, the café serves lighter fare including acai bowls, oats, healthy breakfast bowls, soups and salads.
I sought this place out during a short trip to San Diego because it’s seed-oil free, is committed to using organic and whole ingredients, and has lots of gluten-free options. Parakeet Café did not disappoint. I ordered their eggs and salmon w/ gluten free toast, and the acai bowl….they were both so good that I went I ordered the exact same thing at the Coronado location later that day. The staff were also nice.

Cool little cafe right next to the Little Italy Market. It is within walking distance from Downtown SD, the Midway Museum, and the Coastline. Parking is as you can expect, a bit difficult, but nothing too bad. The place is very nice, well kept, and organized. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We definitely felt welcomed here. The food was delicious, downtown prices hahaha, but it was really good. Wife had the chilaquiles verdes and I had a burrito. They were tasty and excellent salsa! They do have only 1 bathroom, for male and females. Very clean and well maintained. Good experience overall!

Cute cafe and pretty good and fresh healthy food! It’s a big plus that they have gluten free options. The gluten free peach pie was my favorite - delicious! Great customer service too.

My friends and I found this place after dealing with another establishment that was rude to us and what a blessing in disguise that turned out to be! Parakeet Café completely turned our day around. Even on a busy Sunday, they had room for us right away. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The café was spotless, the atmosphere was gorgeous, and it felt like the perfect spot to relax and enjoy our time together. l ordered a mocha latte, which was absolutely delicious, and the food was fresh and full of flavor. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend!

This place deserves 5 stars! Went here on a Saturday morning and even with the Farmer’s Market going on we were able to order and sit quickly. The inside had immaculate vibes with the cutest decor! I can never find Shakshuka anywhere and was so excited to find it on the menu here—it did not disappoint. I also ordered a mocha latte with almond milk, which they make in house!! My partner had the chilaquiles which was also tasty. It was my favorite spot we went to all weekend! Highly recommend to anyone coming through the area.

It was unbelievably delicious — nothing like a typical breakfast. Every dish felt unique: vibrant flavors, perfect textures, and unexpected combinations. Even the bread tasted special. Absolutely loved it. If you want a breakfast that actually surprises you — this is the place 💚✨
Natali P — Google review
For breakfast, we ordered the eggs with salmon and the avocado toast. The avocado toast was good, but nothing special, pretty standard. The cured salmon, though, was really tasty. I got my eggs poached, but they were overcooked, the yolk was hard, and I was hoping for them to be a bit runny. That was a bit disappointing. Overall, a decent breakfast, just not amazing.
Vanessa R — Google review
This is my least favorite Parakeet cafe in comparison to other locations. First reason: I tried the almond croissants here and they were very disappointing - would not recommend. Dry, not pleasant texture and scarce filling. The atmosphere is less cozy than what I would expect from a Parakeet cafe and there is no wi-fi available. Service was good though and everyone very nice and friendly.

The cafe also serves gourmet coffee and has a spacious patio for guests to enjoy their meals.
A clean, well staffed, friendly, delicious and beautiful restaurant. Second nature has above average breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. High quality drink menu from lattes, to beer and wine. The ambience is excellent for sitting outside and catching up with friends, or dialing in to work remote from their counter. When I went for breakfast, I got their short rib eggs benedict and I immediately wanted more. A great neighborhood joint for a smooth, casual and delicious meal.

The two appetizers were good. The main dish was dry and bland. The tofu had no seasoning or flavor. There was little dressing or flavor in the bowl. Service was a bit slow as they were understaffed. The staff was friendly and helpful bringing multiple dressings to liven up the dull entree.

Beautiful seating, great, fast & friendly service. Sadly they didn't have anymore my favorite: salmon benedict Ordered original benedict- the poached eggs needed to be cooked a little more, the white was still runny. Orange juice taste like fresh orange . Potatoes were amazing. The sitting and view has been always great and the place is very clean

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Pb. I highly recommend the Loco Moco for brunch or the Braised Short Rib for dinner. The lettuce chicken wraps are semi okay, besides them I would recommend anything else on the menu. The dining patio is a great spot to enjoy dinner during any season. If you are in town or are debating on trying this restaurant, I would say it is worthwhile 10/10 ☺️

I absolutely loved the fresh, delicious, and healthy food! I ordered the avocado toast, and the pickled carrots on top were incredible. The ginger kombucha was also a great touch. I’ll definitely be back! As a vegetarian, I asked for extra protein on the side, and they got me a side of tofu.
