Amed Beach is a serene destination with its distinctive black volcanic sand and stunning views. It is surrounded by charming restaurants and cafes, offering a perfect setting for relaxation. The beach is located about 9 km from the Amed tourist attraction, nestled amidst picturesque villages and hills. Visitors can witness breathtaking sunrises over Mount Rinjani and enjoy the natural beauty of the hill valley at Lahangan Sweet Karangasem.
Absolutely the best place for snorkeling and scuba diving. The water is clear and you are surrounded by gorgeous choral and thousands of fish! This laid back town in Bali is a must visit!
Deborah S — Google review
Cool and clearish water. Waves are calm but pick up quickly in a storm. There are loads of boats parked on the sand so you have to manoeuvre around them which can be very annoying, especially in the high tide. Absolutely stunning views of Mt Agung during clear sky’s, and there are lots of great local warungs along the beach
Ryan — Google review
Not much beach during high tide and it's a little shameful that the people litter so much but a great area for diving and snorkeling.
Ss — Google review
We're in a new place - on the east coast of Bali, in Amed. Amed is quiet, almost deserted, and perfect for escaping the noise. Among tourists, we've met only a few couples and families. It's a very charming place - I fell in love with it right away. But staying here turned out to be quite challenging: everyone seems to know everything about everyone, and every step attracts attention. Since almost nothing happens here, people seem to entertain themselves this way. There are endless questions - from everyone, everywhere. Even the villa check-in form asked: Where are you from? Where are you going next? Amed is small, observant, curious — but still, it has its own warmth and quiet truth. #Amed

The beach is not easy to access and there is a lot of rocks… No body is going in the sea…However there are one or two restaurants where you can seat on the beach or lay down in transats
Alexane B — Google review
Not too shabby, plenty of nice coral and life to see, especially around the sunset point cliff area. Gets very deep quickly, but plenty to see in the shallows, explore the black sandy area, especially at night for cryptic critters. Dolphins also come through. Lots of rubbish.. sigh
Elliot P — Google review
It's supposed to be a new hotel. Mould in the bathroom. Hot water ran out after 40 seconds. The staff have no experience and unable to assit in anything else than what the hotel.offers. they tried to charge us for breakfasts when it was included in price. We paid for a family room, 2 adults, and 2 children. and there was inly a gueen bed and a sofa. The toilet leaked so the bathroom floor was always wet and slippery. Tiny breakfast. Upper floors around pool and restaurant. Empty bottles and dishes laid around. And never picked until the next morning. We always had to ask for service as the staff just had in the kitchen. We will never return.
Trevor W — Google review
The beach is full of plastic and rubbish. When you snorkel, there is plastic everywhere. The local fishermen put plastic water cups, plastic bags and all their left over string Into the sea. They even do a daily Puja (Hindu prayer) for each of the thousands of boats where they put an offering IN A PLASTIC BAG!!!) into the sea. And the fishermen rely on the tourists for fishing and snorkeling trips?!!! And the whole local community relies on the tourist industry! Crazy! And yet they fill the sea with plastic! Are these people ignorant or stupid? The only areas of the beach that are not filled with plastic are the stretches where there are expensive resorts and no local fishing boats! I will not come back to Amad, again.

Bias Tugel Beach, also known as Pantai Kecil or White Sand Beach, is a hidden gem near Padang Bai. Accessible via a short 500m trek down a rocky path, this tranquil beach offers stretches of white sand and sparkling blue sea with swaying coconut trees. It's somewhat secluded and provides a serene atmosphere away from the bustling tourist spots.
Beautiful white sand beach, with very clear blue water. The waves are biggish but the tide pushes you towards the shore (or it did when I went), so I believe it to be safe, just don’t swim too far out. If you can swim at all, it should be totally fine. There are people with snorkels and I believe there’s fish slightly further out. 10k entry per person, collected as you drive in. Then you have to walk down a number of steps and turn left for the beach. Then it’s a few minutes downhill walk over some roots/rocky bits, but it’s not too difficult. The beach itself is so quiet, we were there from 11:30-3pm and considering how wonderful it is, I expected far more people. We rented a sunbed for 35k pp. Toilet facilities aren’t nice but that’s just how they are and it’s nothing shocking to me, given I’ve been travelling a while. They are squat toilets also. A lady sells grilled and salted corn cobs for 25k a pop and they are delicious! There’s also several restaurant/shops/stalls. I only encountered one beach seller and they did not pester us for long or return. Perhaps there are more on weekends, but we came on a Monday and only encountered the one - no big deal. The water is clear and nice and cold - but not too cold. It’s very refreshing and I believe it’s the best beach on Bali mainland.

I recently visited this beach that left me with mixed impressions. The entrance fee was 10,000 Indonesian Rupiah per person, which seemed reasonable at first, but our experience with payment was frustrating. After handing over 100,000 Rupiah for two people, the attendant only returned 70,000, shortchanging us by 10,000. It felt like an attempt to cheat, which dampened the mood right at the start. Swimming was challenging due to strong waves, making it less ideal for those looking for a relaxing dip. The beach itself was somewhat dirty, which detracted from the natural beauty. Additionally, the proximity to a local port made the surroundings less scenic and more industrial. As a foreigner, I found the atmosphere a bit overwhelming. Locals were constantly trying to sell items or push us to rent a chaise lounge, leaving little room for relaxation. The lack of electricity in the area was also inconvenient, as it meant no card payments or options for charging phones. While the beach has some potential, the combination of poor maintenance, pushy vendors, and lack of basic facilities made it less enjoyable. The entrance fee and the attempted shortchanging added to the negative experience. I wouldn't recommend it unless improvements are made in cleanliness, transparency, and facilities.

Visited this beach in October 2024, quite early in the morning. I loved the track leading down — quiet and a bit challenging 🤣 The beach was beautiful. I arrived just after sunrise. I hesitated to swim at first, but I did it anyway. And guess what? Just as I swam near the rocks… I SAW A BLACK-AND-WHITE STRIPED SNAKE! 😭 I panicked and told a group of Balinese boys who were already there. One of them casually said, “Yeah, you can find them near the rocks — just don’t swim too close, and you’ll be fine.” So yeah — beautiful and quiet beach, but maybe avoid swimming near the rocks 🥹
Mpokgaga E — Google review
You have two options in going down here — pay 20k from the other entrance or climb a hill and walk down a forest to get to the beach. Nonetheless, it is quiet a peaceful place in Padangbai. The chairs are like 50k each and there’s beer options too. The waves are nice but gets huge from time to time.
Keziah R — Google review
To begin with, this beach is not white and consist of black sand. I am not sure why some says it's white, probably they have never come across an actual white sandy beach. Next, accessing the beach requires trekking thru a rubbished area which was disgusting, followed by up and down thru unmarked clearings. Just follow the direction toward the beach, you should be fine. Either that, you could access it via the end of the road where there's access to a secret beach too. At the beach side, there's some Warungs selling food and drinks. I'm just intrigued about the RP10,000 they collect, what do they do with it instead of keeping the beach clean. Strange. Return again to this beach? Hell no.

Beautiful beach, very peaceful with some nice spots for food / drink.

I advise you to go to this beach, white sand, blue sea, turtle and fish, the warung are super good, magical day ,Spend the day at the beach and watch the sunset 200 meters away, volcanic beach❤️🦋🪄🪄🎩
Reconnectt ( — Google review
Very chill white sand beach with clear turquoise water. The waves can be a little rough to get in (dependind on the time of day), but for the most part once you pass the first couple of waves you can swim out a bit. There are plenty of warungs with beach chairs, umbrellas and delicious food and cold beer. Don’t expect good toilets (squat toilets with bucket flush of sea water) and there are no showers. The tide can bring some rubbish at times, but that is a problem overall in Bali. I spent 2 afternoons here and loved it! There are some vendors, but they are very respectful if you say “no thanks” with a smile. There are 2 paths to get here; one you have to pay 10K (which is supposed to go to beach maintenance) and the other is free. Highly recommend it if you are in Panangbai 🏝️🏖️

Virgin Beach, located near Bukit Asah in Bugbug village, is a stunning white sand beach that has gained popularity despite its name suggesting otherwise. While it used to be less frequented by international tourists, it has now become one of the well-known white sand beaches in East Bali. The beach offers clear waters perfect for snorkeling during low tide and is known for its high waves during high tide, making swimming unsafe.
Great natural beach with many services. Rich underwater life, we even seen a turtle. Access from two sides. At both entrances they charge 20,000 IDR per scooter.
Jaroslav M — Google review
I think it was a one off, but the waves were intense! Not safe for young children to go into the water. But locals said normally it's super calm. I still give it a 5* rating. Super chill vibe, reasonable prices for sunbeds and umbrellas, gorgeous views. Nothing really to complain about.
Carl W — Google review
A beautiful location with white sands and turquoise sea. The drive there had spectacular views of the peninsula. The restaurant was prime location but could have been better quality food.
Tabitha V — Google review
Nice beach. They called Virgin beach because the sand still white after eruption different with others beach around karangasem the sand are black. In Virgin beach many food restaurant or they called WARUNG. and have nice place virgin beach cafe they have nice swimming pool also. and there you can rent also sun lounger with umbrella for chill after swimming.
Ingrid A — Google review
If you don't mind the drive, this is a great place. White sand, crystal clear warm water, it's a really special place. Getting there can be challenging for some however, so do your diligence. I suggest leaving early in the morning to avoid eastbound traffic
Mitch L — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches we’ve visited – peaceful atmosphere, clear water, and gorgeous views. Whether you admire it from the cliff viewpoint or right at the shore, it’s simply stunning. The vibe is super chill, prices for sunbeds and umbrellas are reasonable, and the breeze makes it extra relaxing. The beach feels natural but also has plenty of services, and the underwater life is rich – we even spotted a turtle! 🐢 Access is possible from two sides, and at both entrances they charge 20,000 IDR per person. Be careful not to miss the turning spot though – the entrance from the main road is very narrow. The service from the nearby warungs is excellent. There’s a nice variety of food and drinks available along the beach, and if you order, you don’t pay for the long chairs – they even provide fresh clean towels. I recommend the fish and seafood 🐟🦐. Snorkeling equipment is also available, and having an ice-cold Bintang here is priceless 🍺. There are only a few sellers walking around, but many skilled masseuses. You should try massage at the beach here. The sea is usually wavy but thanks to the sheltered bay you can enjoy cool water. Still, there are safe spots to swim and enjoy. Overall, a wonderful natural beach with clear water, great food, friendly service, and an excellent vibe. Highly recommended!
Senay A — Google review
A hidden gem! Soft white sand, turquoise water, and a relaxed vibe with small warungs serving fresh seafood. Perfect for swimming or just unwinding away from crowds.
Rana C — Google review
A beautiful, clean beach! The prices for umbrellas are fair, as are those at the restaurant. The food was very good. A wonderful beach for relaxing.

Blue Lagoon Beach is a serene resort with villas surrounded by gardens, featuring a spa, pool, and a restaurant/bar overlooking the sea. Located on the east side of Bali islands, it's about 1.5 hours from Kuta by car but well worth the drive. The beach is a hidden paradise and a top spot for snorkeling enthusiasts due to its clear waters and rich coral reefs teeming with colorful fish.
Nice little beach in walking distance from Padang Bai harbour. Ideal place to go while waiting for next day boat ride. Beautiful bay for snorkelling with pristine water, loads of corals and different fish species, lucky ones can spot a turtle also. You can rent a sunbed or lay down on the sand, not many people are coming here, most come from snorkelling tours, so the beach is quite empty.
Tomáš T — Google review
Turns out as a gray or green lagoon? LOL! I don't know, you be the judge. Could be due to the gloomy cloudy weather when I arrived, but as far as I know, a lagoon color should not be affected very much by the daylight, unless extreme weather maybe. The beach was not enticing at all, with rubbish all over. There was heavy raining the day before till the morning so I'll give this blue lagoon claim a benefit of doubt. We stayed for a while and left without entering the water because the wave looks rough. Worth a visit? Definitely not. Still want to visit? Than better wait for nice sunny weather.
John T — Google review
The beach is small, but with light sand. The waves are strong, the water is a beautiful color, but since the port is located right behind the cape of the lagoon, at some point there was a lot of debris and muck floating in the water that was thrown overboard from tourist ships or elsewhere, and this made swimming in this place unpleasant. An interesting fact was that tourists book a snorkeling package on the other side of the cape, which is actually just a hill climb away, and then they are brought a few dozen meters around the cape to the lagoon to snorkel, when at the same time you could walk for 15 minutes and then rent a snorkeling gear on the lagoon and do it yourself there 😀. Is this a place where you can ride a scooter for 45 minutes...then the answer is no, it didn't make me feel like I would make such a trip again.
Juri H — Google review
Parking 2k idr Snorkelling set rental fee from the shop nearby 75k idr The corals are thriving, fishes are a lot, we saw some gamat and eels as well. Just make sure not to step on corals since it's quite shallow. There are some rubbing near the shore which can dampen the mood, but the fishes made up for it.
Izz B — Google review
A small lagoon that could be so good if looked after, but sadly is being used and not maintained. A short walk (think meters) from Padang Bai up a steep tarmac slope and down a flight of rough steps. Parking at the top 2K for bikes, 5k for cars. The small bay has a couple of bars that rent out snorkelling equipment (60k for fins, mask, snorkle). The beach is as rubbish strewn as the path down to the bay and sadly this rubbish is floating around the reef. It is only a small area of reef which is basically in the bay you can see. The water was clear when we were there, just with a haze of bits floating around. As you enter the water from the beach there are a few strong waves but as soon as you are past them it becomes easy to paddle around. The reef is not deep and easy to dive down. There are an OK range of fish to see, probably more for beginner snorkellers. A few interesting corals in different colours. An hour is probably all you to need to fully explore the reef.
Paul T — Google review
The views from 1B are gorgeous. Otherwise you need to appreciate a rustic experience. Eg. Showers outside (privacy protected or course) water lukewarm, if it's pouring and you don't like mixing cool rain water with shower, then it's a problem.
M S — Google review
Stopped by on the way—parking was 2k, which is standard. The beach itself was average and a bit messy. I didn’t snorkel, so I can’t comment on that, but on the day I visited the water looked more green and grey than blue. To be fair, the weather was cloudy, so it might look much better on a sunny day."

We did snorkelling in Blue lagoon beach , plenty of fish , we took the boat to do snorkelling , the water is so clear and clean , the price was 650 k Indonesian for 2 people

Nestled in the Karangasem regency of East Bali, Virgin Beach Karangasem is a secluded and unspoiled destination perfect for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. Accessible via a scenic drive through lush landscapes and rural villages, this beach offers clean white sand, clear waters for swimming or surfing, and plenty of food stalls without being crowded.
Virgin Beach or White Sand Beach is located in Karangasem, Bali featuring it's soft powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, lush green backdrops and serene coastal vibe. Peaceful cove-like setting with surrounding green hills. Hidden gem quality. Entrance fee 10.000/person for local/KITAP and 15.000/foreigner. Free parking. There is clean toilet and shower. Sunbed for rent 100.000/2 beds with umbrella. Small cafes and warungs. You can also find beachside massage and camping option on the Bukit Asah. Access road can be narrow, uneven, and steep. This beach is ideal for people looking for quiet, peaceful, fewer crowds than Bali's mainstream beaches.

Just a Beach! White sand, no stones and wild waves. (Careful with the currents) Full of beach house to rent sunbeds. - Around 100k 2 bed / 1 umbrella. Don’t stay at the very beginning. Go for a walk and chose the one that looks best to you. You won’t see the sunset from here tho.
Carlos R — Google review
What a place. Great ride down the beach with amazing views. 20,000 rupiah for entry ticket before heading down the hill. Has pool and shower facilities and heaps of warungs for drinks and snacks. The water is electric blue and nice coral out the front for a snorkel
Jack M — Google review
I visited Virgin Beach after reading many reviews calling it a “hidden white-sand paradise,” but the reality was very different. To get there you have to go through what feels like a jungle, and the road is in terrible condition. It is full of steep, broken, and rocky paths, and honestly it can hardly be called a road. It is absolutely not suitable for scooters, and without a private driver or arranged transport it is very risky. When you arrive, the sand is not white as advertised. It is more of a grey-beige mix, and the beach itself is overrated compared to the photos online. The water is fine, and there are a few local warungs, but overall the experience did not match the description. Unless you already have a driver and know what to expect, I would not recommend making the trip.
Samiradeny — Google review
The ride to Virgin Beach and views are to die for. The sand is a sandy colour, like at other beaches in Bali and the water is cool and refreshing, although with the small surf that’s there you need to be mindful about getting in out of the water because the waves will throw you about 🤣 It’s well worth a stop for a swim or just a go to and spend a day at the beach. 🏖️
Ann-Marie C — Google review
The beach is quite beautiful. I rented a sun bed and spent a few relaxing hours there. In the sea itself, you sometimes had to watch the waves to avoid getting washed like a washing machine's spin cycle, which carelessly happened to me. But the scenery is very beautiful, the sand relatively white, and the water generally pleasant. Some local eateries can be found there as well. Only the vendors for souvenirs and massages can be annoying sometimes.
Thomas D — Google review
Virgin Beach or White Sand Beach. Scenic view. Clean beach & toilets. There are eateries to fill your tummy & quench your thirst. One may go for a swim, be cautious of the strong current. A stroll on the beach is a must. Entrance is IDR 15K for foreigners. Parking is free. The ride is over windy & conspicuous narrow lanes, however, it's worth the drive.
Kiran S — Google review
25k per person entry at the top - tidy beach with foot washing, trash bins and various beach warungs to enjoy. Some warung have free beds so shop around first and lots of them also have wifi. There are lots of a massage ladies and the water is very nice. Recommend staying for sunset as most of the tourists clear out and you can enjoy an empty beach with the locals

Tulamben Beach Viewpoint in East Bali offers a diverse range of attractions, from the ancient traditions of Tenganan Village to the underwater wonders of the USAT Liberty shipwreck. The ship sank during World War II and now rests 30m below the surface, attracting experienced divers and snorkelers alike. While only advanced divers can explore its full depth, beginners can still enjoy the vibrant marine life around the upper part of the wreck.
Survival Guide: PARKING: apparently is 20k, but nobody asked me. So maybe you'll be lucky too. Either way, it's worth it. SNORKELING GUIDE: you WILL be approached by people who want to be your guide. Tell them "no". It can happen they won't listen. Tell them you have a diving course already. DIVING GUIDE: You don't have to pre book because you'll find plenty here. But since you're reading this, apparently you're the gal or guy who's into preparing themselves. So, best, get a reputable teacher on google maps. ENTER THE WATER ON YOUR OWN: there's no need for a guide. Guides will lie to you and say you can't go snorkeling alone. You absolutely can. And if you're a decent swimmer, nothing is stopping you. LOCATION OF THE SHIP: it's 120 meters long, and it's 25-50 meters outside of the shoreline. It's aligned to the shore line, so you cannot miss it. The pin on google map is accurate. Just go exploring and have fun. TIDE: it's easier to enter the water at high tide. There are many rocks. But any tide should be fine. I was there at high tide which was good. Download the app nautide, it's free and gives you the information you need. TIME OF THE DAY: if you want to have the ship for your own, go before 9. Other than that, any time is fine. I liked the other divers and snorklers as orientation. FINS: Yes, you'll be better off with fins. The current can be strong and the rocks can be annoying. But they are not sharp. Still. Fins are heavily recommend. You should be able to rent them there. SHOPS: the warung there has increased prices. A coke is 20k. Still affordable, but more expensive then other warungs. Consider liking this guide for visibility.

Great for diving. Liberty shipwreck is just a few meters to your left. Difficult to get in-and out of the water because of the big rocks, but a fabulous dive-site once u get there. Not a beach for sunbathing, there's no nice white sand area.
N Z — Google review
Very nice beach for snorkeling and dive. 🤿 you can find variety of things under water from different corals, fishes, … The dive will be shore diving something different I experienced.
Amy A — Google review
The beach is rocky, make sure you wear snorkeling shoes to start your water activities. The underwater is ok, coral garden wasn’t much coral, shipwreck is the most visited spot by the divers. Anyway it’s a good place for you to take or upgrade diving license here since they offer the affordable one.
Fun T — Google review
Had my introductory diving experience here. It was amazing to see the shipwreck, garden eels, the various, colorful fishes and even one blue spotted ribbontail stingray.
Ti M — Google review
Bali has several diving spots that attract both amateur and professional alike to venture. But the ones that located in bali's most west side of the island, Menjangan Island and the other one that in the east part are most popular and famous. Luckily both mentined diving spots are far from industrialized areas or any motored fishermen activities so the sea water on both areas are clean and clear allowing the sea lives and corals to grow well naturally without any disturbances, dirts and polution at all. The one in the east Bali, Tulamben, offers a new beach side, only 25 meters away from the sea sand to dive to sea the US Liberty ship wrecked 7 meters deep allowing you to witness the natural beautiful sea lives and corals on the place. Apart from taking tourists to dive several diving school are spread all over the island ready for teaching enthusiasts to learn on quick course of diving and graduate new born divers under the sea water. Interested? So next time you come to Bali do not hasitate to join in the quick course and start becoming a new first time licenced diver.

There's no sand beach in Tulamben. All volcanic rocks. The highlight of Tulamben is scuba diving activities, where you can find the Liberty wreck just a few meets swim away from the beach. The most easiest and relaxing dive with good disability, colorful corals with many tropical fishes.

If you are a female SOLO traveller, be careful with this guy. First, he will try to do small talk, then he will offer you free snorkling guide. If you reject, he will follow you… literally anywhere. Trying to go west, east, even in public place, he kept trying to get close. I was not the only victim. This has been happening many times, to other females. I found another 2 females got same approach by him. Be very careful, ladies. I suggest not to go there alone…

Tirta Gangga is a serene spiritual retreat featuring stunning gardens and natural springs, offering opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The area surrounding Tirta Gangga is rich in tourist attractions, including the majestic Mount Agung, the Telaga Waja river for water rafting, the charming beach town of Candidasa, and the ancient village of Tenganan. Sidemen Valley is a hidden gem with beautiful rice fields, colorful markets, and a strong sense of community.
A peaceful and beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing visit. The gardens and water features are stunning, with spectacular views all around. There are some tourists, but it’s not overcrowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. While it’s possible to see everything in about 30 minutes, I highly recommend staying longer to truly enjoy the calm atmosphere and take in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful place located just off the road. Peaceful, colorful, and incredibly charming. A very vast area with many nooks and crannies that many people overlook. It's worth buying fish food at the local stalls. It's quite crowded, but the place is worth visiting for its unique charm. Paid parking is available on-site, with plenty of spaces. Restaurants serving good food and quick service are located both on-site and nearby, and prices are practically the same as everywhere else.

Tirta Gangga, the famous “Water Palace” in East Bali, feels like stepping into a dream woven from water, stone, and sunlight. Built by the royal family of Karangasem, this place is surrounded by lush gardens, clear ponds, and sacred springs that shimmer under the Balinese sky. 🌿 The stone paths float gently over the water, and as you step from one lotus-shaped stone to another, koi fish swirl gracefully beneath your feet. Every ripple feels alive — like time moves slower here. The sound of trickling fountains and the scent of blooming flowers make it a perfect escape from the world outside. There’s a quiet peace in this place — a balance between human art and nature’s beauty. You can sit by the pond, dip your fingers into the cool water, and feel a sense of calm that words can barely describe. It’s not just a sightseeing spot; it’s a place where your soul takes a deep breath. 🌸

This was an absolutely beautiful and historic location that feels like stepping into a living postcard. The grounds are impeccably kept, with vibrant plants and flowers adding to the serene atmosphere. There are endless opportunities for stunning photos, including the famous Instagram-worthy stepping stone area, which surprisingly did not have too long of a line even during the busy season. The small museum on-site was both informative and interesting, giving context to the rich history of the site. Visitors were respectful and courteous, which made the experience even more enjoyable. This is a must-see stop for anyone looking to enjoy Balinese culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one visit.

We visited Tirta Gangga as part of our East Bali Tour programme. This is a very well maintained and clean place, which was used as a former water palace. We learned it was named after the sacred river Ganges in India. You can hop on and walk on stones to cross the ponds. There are so many well-fed and big koi fishes in ponds that look lovely. We had also visited Ubud Water Palace before, Tirta Gangga is bigger than that so it was worth visiting. There is also a cafe & restaurant you can sit and relax.

I visited Tirta Gangga and it was truly a sight to behold. This former royal water palace is incredibly scenic — a gorgeous blend of tranquil pools, flowing fountains, lush gardens, and traditional stone statues. Everywhere you turn feels like stepping into a postcard. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with stepping stones that take you across the water and let you wander right through the ponds surrounded by koi fish. It’s peaceful and elegant, with a charming, almost dream-like atmosphere that makes you want to take your time exploring every corner. Tirta Gangga is also full of photo opportunities. From the famous stepping stones to the ornate structures and beautifully landscaped gardens, there’s no shortage of stunning backdrops. Whether you’re looking for serene scenery or iconic Bali shots, you’ll definitely find them here. Overall, Tirta Gangga is a must-visit if you enjoy history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It offers a perfect mix of calm, beauty, and just enough adventure as you hop stone-to-stone through the water. A truly picturesque stop and one of Bali’s most charming sites.

Thankfully not too many tourists with our schedule, so it was easy to capture and create some lovely memories. Hot day, food and drinks were reasonably priced. Organised to leave our travel bags with a local restaurant (after taking out our wallets) for 50.000rp, with the promise to buy a drink later too. All good. Fun to feed the fat fish !

Besakih Great Temple, also known as Pura Besakih, is the largest and most important Hindu temple in Bali. Situated in the Karangasem regency with Mount Agung as its backdrop, this holy site features 23 temples, including the central Pura Penataran Agung Besakih and 18 companion temples surrounding it.
Very nice place! Amazing. Not very crowded, you can see local Balinese people performing rituals, praying, and ceremonies. When you enter, a guide is assigned to you. We got Putu, an excellent guide who explained absolutely everything about the place, the statues, and the meaning of each thing. A beautiful experience! Highly recommend

Besakih Temple is absolutely majestic...known as the Mother Temple of Bali, it’s the largest and most sacred temple complex on the island. Located high on the slopes of Mount Agung, it offers incredible views and a deep spiritual atmosphere. The place feels powerful yet peaceful, surrounded by misty mountains and ancient stone gates. Make sure to wear a sarong (you can find it at the entrance) and go early to enjoy the calm before the tour groups arrive. A must-visit to experience the true soul of Bali!
Souad Y — Google review
Besakih Temple is the largest Hindu Temple in the island of Bali, built on the slope of Mount Agung: to be precise it's a complex of 25 different but related temples. The entrance is marked by a "Candi Bentar", the famous split gateway that can be found all over Bali. Unfortunately when I visited there was bad weather so I couldn't enjoy the view of the surroundings. The temple itself is quite nice.
Francesco X — Google review
It's a beautiful temple, definitely with a visit. It takes about 1.5 hours to greet there from Ubud, so plan your itinerary well. We went on a Monday, arrived at around noon, and experienced no wait to buy the ticket. The ticket includes a strong, a guide, and a 2 minute ride up to the temple entrance. You have to walk back down, though I did see the shuttle return with passengers so 🤷. There are lots of steps inside the complex, so come prepared. Steps are irregular, and I saw at least one person slip on what might have been moss. There are souvenir shops inside, as well as toilets.

Visiting Pura Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, was an unforgettable experience. The complex is enormous and filled with history, spirituality, and breathtaking architecture. Walking through its many levels with Mount Agung rising in the background truly feels magical. What impressed me most was the atmosphere – it’s both deeply spiritual and welcoming. The views over the mountains and rice terraces are absolutely stunning, especially when the clouds move around the volcano. If you want to experience the heart of Balinese culture and spirituality, this is definitely a place not to miss.

I give it 2 stars because the place looks absolute georgous. There are at the moment renovations happening and because of this some parts are closed. Everthing else is a big scam as soon as they put a sarong on you, you already pass ladies with offerings and they told us every tourist have to buy. So we bought 100k for 2 offerings. Later with the prayer you HAVE to make an donation to make your offering, if you don't pay then the offering don't count. The guide was really looking into our wallets and said we have to pay around 50 dollars each. We paid some but definitely no 50 dollar each. They think Europeans are rich, but we are definitely not. He also takes you passed some photographers to take some pictures. I have to say the pictures looked amazing, but again you have to pay 350k for them. At the end of the tour the guide is begging for a tip and nothing was good enough everything was so low and he wasn't happy. ( I think in total we gave him like 50k) he wanted at least 100k The entrance tickets was 300k for 2 people including the guide. So my recommendations is that it's not worth the visit. You are being robbed of your money every step you take.
Gaby B — Google review
The temple itself was absolutely breathtaking—peaceful, grand, and well worth the visit. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the mandatory guide, who repeatedly pressured me for donations and tips. At one point, he even counted my donation in front of others, saying it was “too small,” which felt very uncomfortable and disrespectful. It’s a shame, because the spiritual atmosphere was beautiful, but the constant hassling made it hard to enjoy the moment. I hope future visitors can have a more respectful and serene experience.

My favorite experience in Bali was climbing this beautiful mountain for sunrise 🌅 The down hill is pretty loose and slippery so it takes about the same time to go down.

The view was breathtaking! We can see the Mount Rinjani from the summit. Went there via the Edelweis Basecamp. For time and energy saving we can use ‘ojek’ (bike service) from basecamp for IDR 100K one way. The track to camp site was quite easy with only around 30 minutes to 1 hour from 1 point to another. The challenging part was the summit. The slope of the track is about 45 degrees all the way to the first peak point. But is all worth the view!

Mt Agung (the highest volcano in Bali) It’s quite a challenging trek! It starts at midnight and finishes by midday, taking around 12 hours, including short breaks. The Trek covers 15km and has an elevation gain of 1850 meters. Trek pretty rough, rocky, gravelly, and sandy. Need climbing and crawling involved. Hard part is going downhill it was very slippery, and I ended up slipping more times than I can count, At one point, I wished for a helicopter rescue 😂, which fun experience!!! It's payoff, surrounded by mesmerising views at the very top of the clouds!!!

Amazing experience climbing the volcano. Trail is well defined and easy to follow. I did the hike on my own, it is absolutely doable, not as hard as I expected based on previous reviews. It is demanding, as it starts going up and it doesn't stop until you reach the top, with an average gradient of 20% (this changes from section to section) You're approximately the easy section (well defined path) for about 5.5 kms, thereafter, the difficult part through the rocks begins, where you cannot just walk through, but have to somewhat climb through it, that part kast about 1 km but is the part that takes the longest compared to the rest of the hike. Thereafter you're already close to the summit and it's only a breathtaking walk through the crater, which is easy, but sure footage is still required. I had no guide, but registration and fee is required. With good fitness, the hike to the summit took me about 3-3:30 hours and then a couple of hours down. The going down is quiet taxing on the knees. The entire hike is very much worth it and when you reach the summit it is just amazing. An overwhelming experience that makes you feel connected to the world and very much at peace. If you plan on camping in between, there are plenty of possible camping sites throughout the climb.

Pasar Agung temple to the summer route. Its shorter than the Besakih Temple route. Its steep and lots of scrambling involved. Well worth the effort for beautiful sunrise views over Mt Rinjani in Lombok and south Bali.

2nd time hiking up Mt Agung. This time from Pasar Agung temple. Rewarded with fantastic views on sunrise and Mt Rinjani. It is a steep hike and lots of scrambling involved. This is a shorter route than hiking from Besakih Temple. 4 hours up and 3 1/2 hours down with a 30 min break at the campsite both ways. I highly recommend this route if people want a shorter route to the top

Lipah Beach is a stunning black sand beach in Bali, offering a perfect setting for snorkeling, swimming, and fishing. Unlike other beaches in the area, Lipah Beach has minimal currents, making it safe for families to enjoy water activities. The beach boasts clean sands and abundant coral reefs, providing excellent opportunities for snorkeling and diving. Visitors have reported sightings of sea turtles while snorkeling and various marine life while diving.
This is an amazing spot for turtle - watching! The turtle - viewing area is located on the left side of the beach. Due to a bit of rain followed by some sunlight, the water isn't crystal - clear. However, we were still lucky enough to spot turtles. It's highly recommended to bring your own diving mask and fins. You can simply wade into the water from the stony beach. Near the turtle - sighting point, there's a rich variety of corals. It's truly a place that's worth your time, and the best part? There's no entrance fee!

Beautiful beach with volcanic black sand that sparkles on a sunny day. Water is crystal clear on a non windy day, but even on the windy day still clear enough to snorkel and see amazingly beautiful and colorful fishes corals. Literally step into the water from any spot on the beach swim for less than a minute and you feel like in an underwater haven 🥰 it’s our favorite beach in Amed so far. Been many times never seen it being over crowded. We saw sea turtles as well 😁

I love this place. So chill and old school Bali. Snorkeling straight off the beach and so many colorful beautiful fish and lovely coral gardens. Word of warning, the reef is sensitive and delicate. Please do not be one of those ignorant people who step on the coral reef. If enough people do this it won't stay beautiful for long.

Beautiful spot with warm, clear waters and plenty of colourful fish — perfect for a relaxing swim or snorkel. The natural surroundings are stunning and peaceful, especially if you come early in the day. On the downside, there are a lot of persistent vendors approaching you with offers for snorkeling and other services, which can interrupt the calm vibe. Also, I noticed tiny plankton bites while swimming, so I’d definitely recommend wearing a long-sleeve swimsuit or rash guard for extra comfort. Overall, it’s a lovely beach, especially for marine life lovers — just be prepared for the minor nuisances.

Hindu temple
The Temple of Penataran Agung Lempuyang is a collection of Hindu temples located on a hillside, known for its iconic 'heaven' gate and stunning views of Mount Agung volcano. The complex consists of three main temples dedicated to Shiva, along with smaller temple groups. It hosts fifty-five different ceremonies annually, including the significant Betara Turun Kabeh during the full moon of the tenth month in the Balinese lunar calendar.
Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple – A Mixed Experience We scootered 2 hours from Canggu as first time Bali visitors to visit the famous Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple. The ride itself was scenic and enjoyable, especially as we got closer to the mountains. The temple is undeniably beautiful—rich in history and culture, with sweeping views that make the journey worthwhile on their own. What most people don’t tell you, though, is the reality of the photo situation. After paying for entry at the bottom, you’re assigned a number for the iconic “floating reflection” photo. What followed was a surprising 1–2 hour wait just to have your number called. Many visitors spend this time either relaxing or exploring the surroundings, but it’s definitely something to plan for if you're on a schedule. Once you're near the top, you'll likely be offered the chance to dress in traditional Balinese attire for an additional fee. The original price quoted to us was 750,000 IDR, but we negotiated it down to 500,000 IDR—though pricing may vary depending on your negotiating skills or timing. In the end, we decided not to wait for our photo turn and instead took in the atmosphere, architecture, and stunning views. Even without the Instagram-famous shot, it was still a memorable experience. If you're going primarily for the photo, just be prepared for the wait and some extra costs.
S L — Google review
This has sadly become the check box for your Bali trip. So much so like if you haven't taken those special photos at Lempuyang then your trip is incomplete. The peer pressure for social media acceptance is just unreal. The temple and the location is undeniably beautiful. The journey from Ubud or Kuta should take 2-3 hours respectively. However as you may have read in most of the other reviews; the only and only factor is the constant expenditure that you have endure in terms of entrance tickets, shuttle fare, snacks, water etc. The pictures that you see in the all the reviews are the same. There is hardly much to see around if you are going there for those photos. I just wonder who came up with that reflection trick in the first place. This phenomenon has transformed the photo clicking business across Bali. Now it is a multi-million dollar industry. Sarcasm aside; Lempuyang temple is worth visiting. The shuttle ride will be one hell of a roller coaster ride. You can admire the skill of the shuttle drivers on those steep slopes. Food and refreshment facilities are limited. You will need to spend money at the nearby shops for everything that you need while you wait for 2-3 hours for your turn.
Birat B — Google review
Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple is a stunning and culturally rich site, and it truly breaks my heart to give only 3 stars. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the grounds offer countless photo opportunities, including the world‑famous “Heaven’s Gate” view with the mountains perfectly framed behind you. The experience is very well organized with a fair system for guests, calling numbers for photo turns and providing a photographer who uses your phone and a mirror to create that iconic reflection effect. The reason for the lower rating is the wait. Unless you arrive by around 5 a.m., you can expect to wait anywhere from 2 to 6 hours for your turn at the main photo spot. For many visitors this makes the visit exhausting and limits the time you have to enjoy the temple itself. It is still worth seeing for the beauty and cultural experience, but the long wait keeps it from being the magical stop it could be.

This temple 🛕review is going to be a hit 🎯and miss 😖, here’s my honest review 📝. To get 🚶‍♀️to Penataran Agung Lempuyang Temple 🛕, you firstly have to park at a common Carpark 🅿️. (See my pics 📸) At this common carpark, you will need to pay 💵 Rp$50,000 to take a bus 🚌up to the hill ⛰️top where the temple 🛕 is actually located. This is a very steep climb 🧗on a meandering road 🏘️, well over 2km, you cannot 🙈⛔️ possibly consider walking 🚶‍♀️🚶up with all the buses 🚌🚍🚎 running at full speed. You will be reminded at this point that women 👩🏻‍🦳👩🏼‍🦰👱🏼‍♀️within their menstrual cycle 🩸will not allowed 🚫 into the temple 🛕. (*With this in mind 🤨, if you are having your period, you can skip this visit completely. Do not contaminate consecrated ground 😔.) Once you get to the top 🔝, you will have to pay 💵 another Rp$70,000 to walk up to the temple. And that’s where they will tell you, in-order to take the famous picture 📸 of the Gates ⛩️ of Heaven, the wait time ⏳ is 2-3hrs.  The walk will take another 10mins from ticket counter to get to the top. Once you are at the top, you can collect a queue ticket 🎟️ and wait for your turn to be called 🗣️ on the loud 📣 speakers and have your photos taken at the gates ⛩️. In-between that, most people walk around, take more pictures and video 📹, or rent the traditional costume 🥻👘👗for another Rp$750,000. Thoughts 🧐 are … the view up there is truly breathtaking 😎. You will get a view like no other heading for miles and miles, it’s pretty amazing. 🌟✨⭐️ The Gates to Heaven will make a perfect IG photo opportunity and that is really beautiful too especially, if it is a clear ☀️ day and the mountain 🗻behind comes out clearly. However, the long wait is something to consider 🧐 and also that short climb from carpark 🅿️ to the temple main door is very steep 🎢 and I think it will present difficulties to the wheelchair 👩‍🦽‍➡️folks and also those with walking 🚷 difficulties.

Tourist Trap – Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple Getting here from Ubud takes about 2–3 hours. Once you arrive at the temple, you’re not allowed to drive up with your own car. Instead, you’re forced to take a shuttle bus, which costs 50k IDR per person. However, the shuttle doesn’t take you all the way up to the temple either—you’ll then be directed to motorbike taxis for another 20k IDR per person. You can walk instead, since the distance isn’t too far, but they’ll tell you it is just to convince you to pay. Entrance costs 70k IDR per person. Be prepared to pay for absolutely everything here, usually at prices about 70% higher than normal. For example, a simple bottle of water is 10k IDR. Even the toilets aren’t free, and in some cafés you might be told there are no toilets available at all. With your entrance ticket, you’ll receive a queue number to take photos at the famous “Gates of Heaven.” Waiting time for your turn can be anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. The view is indeed beautiful, but almost nobody actually takes the time to enjoy it—most people are here just to get photos for social media. If you’re genuinely looking to visit a historic temple, this is not the right place for you. The local people here are unfortunately not welcoming; in fact, some can come across as quite rude, seeing visitors only as a source of money. It feels like a poorly managed tourist trap rather than a spiritual site. Honestly, I would not recommend supporting it.
Adem A — Google review
Its a beautiful temple, no doubt. But felt like a tourist trap. If you want to snap your artificially mirrored picture of you at gates, its a long wait. I recommend going early. If you are lucky you can see the mountain behind the gates. It can get foggy and misty in the early hours. However, the queue system is well organised and everyone can go home happy with their Instagramable picture at the gates.
Ananth R — Google review
Beautiful experience with amazing views and great photo opportunities! To get the best out of it, make sure to wake up early, this place gets crowded fast. The photo queue can be long, so the earlier you arrive, the earlier your token number. Each person gets 4 poses, and the staff take the photos using your own phone. Definitely worth the early start for such a unique and iconic spot!

Candi Dasa Beach is a large stretch of relatively untouched tourist mayhem and very much the providence of the local community. The views over to the Nusa Penida beyond are stunning. Even the ships that come to port at night, all lit up on the horizon are wonderful. I get the feeling that Candi Dasa is going to grow in popular as people seek out a more authentic Bali experience. It does not suffer for the noise and party vibe of Kuta and Legian. And it is very much rustic, remote and rural. As such, it appeals to the quiet and older travellers. I stayed at the Candi Dasa Beach Resort which was full of large European groups of elderly travellers. I think this hotel suited them. But the big let down was the rubbish in the ocean. I know the locals and hotel staff clean it twice a day, but when you desperately want a soothing ocean dip, and your face if peppered under water by old drink containers, ice cream wrapper and soggy tissues, you really have a soiled impression. I hope the future generation realise the damage waste causes the tourist industry in Bali, money that goes to other cleaner location and countries.

Definetely one of the best beach for chill in Bali so far. The ambience is very calming with no rushing waves. People can also spend time during sunrise and sunset here. They have a little cute sand beach part with some rock barrier so it is so nice to swim here.

a hidden little white sand beach fishing village an hour up the coast from Sanur. Surrounded by vast rising hills on one side and the beach on the other - it really is a gem to visit for that relaxing getaway. Close to Padang Bay - the marina gateway/port to Lombok & The Gili Islands. Highly recommended.

Great resort in Candidassa beach! We have a great relaxing time at the pool.

The beach is close to empty when I visit in September. It's not a holiday season, so it's nice to have the beach for yourself. Actually, there's not much we can do in this beach other than enjoying the view. So sad that the beach was quite dirty.

Padang Bai Beach, also known as Bias Tugel Beach, is a stunning white-sand beach in Bali that offers clear waters and a tranquil atmosphere. It is celebrated for its original and undisturbed form, making it one of the most magnificent beaches on the island. The Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai Beach provides opportunities for swimming and snorkeling, while nearby diving sites offer sightings of unique marine life such as squids, stonefish, and reef sharks.
One of the cleanest beaches in Bali, or maybe we just here on a good day. But it was definitely a nice place to watch the sun go down and people watch the locals at play after a long tropical day.
Jason ( — Google review
This is a busy bay for speedboats going to Gili islands and lombok, some also go to Lembongan and Nusa Penida. The water in the bay looked blue and clear but lots of rubbish floating on the top from all the traffic , which is so sad to see, as this may very well have once been a great beach, with its sandy bed and sandy entry into the water. That said, it’s better that major boat traffic is contained to certain ports. It would be nice to move this one to an area where the beach is rocky and not for swimming .

Nice colors but all full of plastic and rubbish. Nobody cares to clean up. This place has a weird feeling in the air. We just stayed to go to the Gilis the day after. I don’t believe anyone can enjoy it here for much longer. We were happy when we left.
CJS — Google review
You can’t really relax or enjoy the beach. Everywhere you turn, someone’s trying to sell you something or push you into doing snorkelling. If you’re looking for peace and space, this is not the place.
Jasmin A — Google review
Padang Bai Beach was unfortunately a stressful experience. The area is extremely hectic, with people constantly trying to sell you something or scam you in some way. It felt like we were being approached non-stop. We also had to wait far too long in line for the boat to Gili T, and even while standing in line, we were repeatedly hassled by sellers. Overall, it was not a relaxing or pleasant experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re just passing through quickly.
Einar D — Google review
Took a snorkel tour from shore out to two dive sites. The variety of marine life we seen was great. However there is lots of rubbish on the shore and in the water and on shore we felt constantly harassed and pressured bu street vendors and unlicensed taxi drivers, we would not come to this area again and were very happy to leave

We took a boat snorkeling from here to Blue Lagoon and Amuk Bay. You probably don’t need a boat as you could probably access from Blue Lagoon beach or Amuk Bay but still was good to have snorkeling equipment and guide. There is lovely hard and soft coral and an abundance of fish (five stars). We booked everything through a trusted local contact who drove us and arranged snorkeling etc. This meant we didnt have to deal with any local mafia etc which made the experience more relaxing for us. Unfortunately as others have noted there is also an abundance of plastic rubbish some of which we collected while snorkeling but it is somewhat depressing when you see the mountains of plastic rubbish on the beach (one star). Why do humans destroy the things we love?
B T — Google review
Unfortunately this was the most polluted Beach in Bali we've seen, so we two of us spent 3 hours picking up rubbish and the locals helped put the bags up on the pavement for the rubbish trucks the following day. Could be a stunning beach if everyone just collected a few bits of rubbish each day.

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Candidasa, The Dining Room is a charming two-tiered thatch-roofed restaurant offering stunning views of rolling green hills and the bay. Known for its wood-fire pizzas made from fresh local produce, it has earned a reputation as one of the best pizza spots in Candidasa. The restaurant also features a romantic-style decor with bright white furniture and a mosaic-covered oven at the entrance.
Have dropped by for takeout twice now after long days of driving. The service was fast and got food out pretty quickly. The dining room is a cool "palapa" with a nice bar. Also attached liquor store with a good selection of liquor, wine, and beer. I found an IPA beer which is hard to find in Bali.

Bloo Lagoon Restaurant & Cafe is part of the wonderful Bloo Lagoon Village eco-resort, featuring a large inviting pool surrounded by greenery and a waterslide. The circular structure collects rainwater, adding to its eco-friendly charm. While there were some issues with meal orders, the staff accommodated with complimentary fruit platters and creative drinks. The restaurant offers stunning views and delicious food with plenty of vegetarian options.
Great place to spend the day. The food was nice, and the service was also good. Kudos to the gentlemen at the parking lot for their hospitality. However, as many have mentioned, the road access to the property needs to be fixed, as it’s both terrible and dangerous. Additionally, motorbikes were parked along the uphill roadside just before the entrance, taking up space and quite dangerous for passing cars. Tip: Blue Lagoon Beach is also worth a visit. The entrance and parking area are located halfway along the same road, so you can stop by either before or after your visit to the restaurant.
Dewa Y — Google review
Bloo Lagoon Restaurant truly offers an incredible view. For a restaurant of this level, the scenery is absolutely stunning and definitely one of the highlights of the visit. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The staff members working in the parking area were very friendly and welcoming. They helped us park our car efficiently and greeted us with warm smiles, which immediately gave us a good first impression upon arrival. It really set a positive tone before we even stepped into the restaurant. However, there were two main issues that unfortunately took away from the overall experience. First, the access road leading to the restaurant is in very poor condition. It was quite bumpy and difficult to navigate, making the journey there less comfortable than it should have been. For a destination that clearly attracts many visitors, I believe improving the road conditions would make a big difference. The second and more significant issue was the restaurant’s lack of preparation for handling a large number of customers. When the place got crowded, it became very clear that the team was overwhelmed. There was no proper waiting list system in place, and it seemed quite chaotic trying to get a table. Staff members appeared unsure of how to manage the situation efficiently, which led to a lot of confusion and frustration among guests. For a restaurant that positions itself as a high-end destination with such a beautiful view, better organization and customer service during peak hours are absolutely essential. A proper reservation system, a clear waiting list, and better staff training on managing busy periods would really help improve the overall guest experience. Overall, while the view and the warm attitude of the parking staff were truly commendable, the poor road access and disorganized service during busy times left us feeling disappointed. With some improvements, Bloo Lagoon Restaurant has the potential to offer not only great views but also a truly memorable dining experience.

Hindu temple
The Gate of Heaven Lempuyang Temple in Bali has gained popularity on social media due to its iconic Gates of Heaven, offering stunning views of the sky and Mount Agung volcano. Despite being a hotspot for Instagrammers, the temple holds deep cultural significance as one of Bali's oldest and most revered temples. While it may be crowded with tourists seeking the perfect photo op, the temple's breathtaking views and ticketing system ensure a relatively smooth experience.
The outside are of temple is good! Anyways no one is allowed inside. But you pay 70k for entry then 50k for bus then still you need to walk. And the top its only a selfie point! You cannot enter temple , every one comes only for gate of heaven photo, with a wait of 2hrs! they say we dont open temple as people dont respect and you can see there are cigarettes everywhere , which their own staff is smoking sitting there!
Amzzz — Google review
Sean D — Google review
We visited Pura Lempuyang, one of Bali’s most iconic temples, known for its “Gates of Heaven” view framing Mount Agung. Instead of waiting nearly two hours for the famous photo spot, we decided to explore other parts of the temple and honestly, it was worth it. Every corner of Lempuyang offers breathtaking views, peaceful energy, and incredible photo opportunities without the crowd🤗🤩
Ais N — Google review
Beautiful place Ofcourse but made extremely Instagrammable and hence overcrowded mostly. But we were lucky enough to be on those one off days where the crowd wasn’t extreme and the wait time was acceptable. We went on a weekday at around 1:30pm and may be it was a weekday and lunch time the crowd was less. We all but waited 40m for our turn and even though i understand that the pictures are made with a mirror and specifically to cater to social media it came out really well. The stars did line up for us to ensure Mount Agung was visible to some extent too.

Ivan P — Google review
Its a beautiful temple, no doubt. But felt like a tourist trap. If you want to snap your artificially mirrored picture of you at gates, its a long wait. I recommend going early. If you are lucky you can see the mountain behind the gates. It can get foggy and misty in the early hours. However, the queue system is well organised and everyone can go home happy with their Instagramable picture at the gates.

Visitors can explore various levels and photo spots while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. While some may find it a bit daunting due to safety concerns, others appreciate the unique bamboo construction and the opportunity to relax in hammocks suspended 20 meters above ground.
Our family really enjoyed this place. For my daughter it was the highlight of the day. And even for me it was super fun. I thought this is a small place but they have so many three houses and a lot higher than you can imagine. We didn't dare go to the highest one since we were too scared of the height. The rope bridges were also super exciting to cross. The longest one we didn't try because my daughter who is 8yrs thought its too scary for her. Really liked the nature aspect and the views also Only minus I would say is that they don't have a proper western style seated clean toilet.

We thought this was just a tourist trap with a few stairs and chairs, but we were wrong. This place is amazing! So much to explore and do. Be sure to go to the highest point of the structure since the view is breathtaking. The bridges sometimes creek due to the bamboo constructions, but it is very safe. Most importantly, take the long bridge to the other side of the pond to relax in the hammocks and chill at a height of 20m!

Pantai Jemeluk is a secluded bay in Amed, Bali, known for its excellent snorkeling opportunities with coral reefs, marine life, and an underwater shipwreck. The area is part of the larger tourism development in Karangasem, which includes various attractions like Bukit Jambul, Besakih, and Tirtagangga. Amed itself comprises seven villages along an 8.
This place is a snorkeler’s paradise! Just a short swim from the sandy beach, you'll discover a vibrant world beneath the waves, teeming with life. Swim through stunning coral gardens and spot playful clownfish in shades of blue and yellow. And don’t miss the sunset—watch in awe as the sun dips into the sea, painting the sky with breathtaking colors. The best part? It’s all without the crowds, giving you the perfect, peaceful escape!

Not sure what the review about all the trash is about - I saw 0 trash in the water. What I did see was one of the more expansive reefs in the area, and the underwater temple is absolutely beautiful. The reef stands in some of the most shallow water I’ve seen and it had an amazing selection of fish. That said - I saw tourists standing on coral adjusting their masks, perhaps because it is so shallow. If you cannot manage to snorkel without touching the coral, just don’t go. Find something else to do. You are damaging something that takes hundreds of years to grow. Also, do not wear standard sunscreen in this water. Bring a hooded rash guard, reef safe sunscreen, or just brave the fairly mild (in season) tropical sun for a bit. We are guests here - behave as such.
Ian M — Google review
Based on other reviews, I thought this place was going to be majority plastic/trash and some fish. I think people are overreacting. It was beautiful, lots of fish, and the underwater temple is a nice cherry on top. Yes, there is the smallest, and I mean the smallest amount on plastic.
Connor M — Google review
This beach has a big problem. Too many locals -and perhaps tourist too- who don't respect the place; it is clear from the fact that it is thus full of trash. They only want to sell you boat trips to snorkel which you can actually go and do by yourself swimming. The beach itself is black and volcanic. Not nice in itself although different. But when you dive in the sea and see the underwater life, you will find a place vivid and full of life, particularly blue starfish. It is worth seeing it -also the underwater temple. But the corals are clearly dying and when you look at the surface from underwater you can tell it is a very surface polluted water. I can not emphasize this enough. The underwater life is wonderful, but the place is dirty and it's people too materialistic. For a wonderful experience do not hesitate to visit Virgin Beach in its instead.

Great place for snorkelling. Very calm, no waves. Can snorkel from the beach. The beach isn’t the most beautiful. But underwater life was great, we saw coral and lots of different fish species. 1. Keep to the right of the bay for the best snorkelling. 2. Visit the black buoy (centre right of the beach) to see the underwater temple. You can see it snorkelling at the surface, or dive down and explore. 3. If you haven’t got a snorkel you can hire from the beach vendors. We hired a mask and goggles for 25K. Presume the price increases with fins? 4. Our beach vendor had free wifi and loungers for customers. Great for the price of a couple of drinks.

Great beach for relaxed snorkeling right off the beach! Not crowded, on weekdays its very quiet. Coral garden seems in recovery but there are plenty of colourful fish. Saw some juvenile cudas too. Go to the right side in front of Blue Star cafe for best spot. Clear water, Waves are calm so it's easy for beginners and children. Sand is coarse and black. Plenty of beachside cafes renting snorkeling gears, sun beds free if you eat there, or you can stay in beachfront bungalows. Best time to snorkel on morning high tide when the fish are most active, but you can easily loose time here and snorkel all day long 😊

Beautiful place for snorkeling and diving. Very good prices.. Not as many tourists as in other places in Bali. Friendly and helpful local people with a very mellow vibe and attitude. Saw many different kinds of fish there and just all around had a great time! Would go back there forsure.

Puri Agung Karangasem, also known as Karangasem Palace, is a historical royal palace in Amlapura Town, Bali. Built in the 19th century, it has witnessed Bali's rich history from the Majapahit Empire to Dutch occupation and Indonesia's independence. The palace features a blend of Balinese, Chinese, and European architectural styles with well-preserved historical buildings and a floating Gili pavilion surrounded by a lotus-filled moat.
One of the most historically important sites of Bali. We were the only visitors, such a shame. At the height of its power, the royal family of this palace controlled all of Bali and Lombok. In later wars, their influence was reduced to only the area around east Bali. Fearing further defeat, they asked the Dutch to intervene. This royal family of Klungkung (semarapura) didn't want to live under Dutch rule and made a suicidal "puputan" (see the Puputan memorial in Klungkung). The Dutch were grateful to their allies in Amarapura and made them the "stadhouder" of all of Bali, like Governor. As a gift, they built them this palace. The royal family is still the owner of this palace to this day.
Dokter R — Google review
Small former city palace within Amlapura. The grounds consist of a small palace with furnished living quarters and pavilions within a small artificial lake. The grounds are beautifully planted. The excursion destination is a nice change from the typical Bali destinations but not a must.
Felix B — Google review
Beautiful and quiet! Entrance fee is 100K Beautiful gardens and area to walk and take some pictures. No sarong is needed. Enjoy the views.
Carlos R — Google review
The Royal family members still live on site, so it's truly a living museum. The entrance is 30,000IDR and you will get an information pamphlet about the place. However, with no map, it can get quite confusing to find the places, and except for the receptionist, none of them can speak English. It might worth a visit if you are on a road trip across the town.
Linh T — Google review
Absolutely a go-to for the history of Bali. It's where the last King of Bali lived. Loads of information semi museum.

Nice and quite royal palace in the middle of Amlapura. The place is clean and well-maintained. They also provided written guidance regarding the buildings inside and their history.

A nice Palace to visit if you are in the neighborhood and love history. It takes less than an hour to cover the ground. Not super picturesque but quite charming.

I don't know why isn't this place as popular as the other water palaces in Amlapura but it is a beautiful, spatial place with an interesting history and present (and only 30k per person).

The Royal Palace on the Water, also known as Tirta Gangga, is a popular tourist spot in Karangasem, Bali. The concept garden and cool, Instagrammable views attract both local and foreign visitors. The Ujung Palace is a water palace and park complex that features beautiful gardens and unusual fish that you can feed. Although the entrance fee may be considered a bit pricey by some, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with not too many people around.
This is really a very beautiful Royal Palace with a stunning landscape. A place where you will feel like being in a different world. I visited it on a weekday and there was not much crowd. The whole area is very well maintained, and the flowers and trees are perfectly manicured, too. It is certainly a place to come and use your camera.

We road our motorbike from Amed for a day trip to visit the Royal Palace on the water. The drive was adventurous and scenic, always remember to have a poncho handy. You are bound to hit some rain on your ride. That just keeps it fun! This was a nice palace. Very beautiful. I love beautiful palaces. Worth the visit, and lots of good photo ops

The Royal Palace was really beautiful and is definitely worth a visit. We had such a great time and it was not crowded. It is not too large. It takes 1-2 hours to walk through the entire park.

I visited the palace on a Saturday evening, it was very nice to walk around. Plenty of flowers and the place has a charm and beauty. It took me around an hour. There was very few other people around.

Visiting the Royal Palace on the Water was a truly wonderful experience! 🌸 The place is absolutely stunning and definitely worth visiting—especially if you love beautiful scenery and want amazing photos in a nice dress. It’s a perfect spot for a professional photoshoot or a romantic walk. The architecture, reflections in the water, and peaceful atmosphere make it feel almost magical. Plus, there are lots of lovely cafés around to relax afterward. Highly recommended for couples, photographers, or anyone who enjoys picturesque places! 📸✨

This place is gorgeous and well maintained. However I ll be part of people who consider the entry should stop to be raised of 25k every 6 months.... July 2025, we are at 100k per person. 1 year and half ago, 50k?
Guillaume S — Google review
My third or fourth time here, I stopped counting. Seriously one of the nicest places in Bali, a bit remote, but that means you got next to no people here. I've rarely had more than 15 other visitors while enjoying the palace mostly by myself. To the people giving negative reviews and complaining over 100k entrance fee - that's 5 Euros. Get over it.
Christian W — Google review
Nice place for a walk. It was raining when we were there, bit anyway we had a relatively nice time (considering the fact that we were totally drenched) I'm not sure it's a pleasant place to be in a sunny weather, cause the place has close to none shadows (but there are some places with roofs actually) But the buildings are beautiful, gardens are well-kept, and the place overall is clean and tidy. Toilet facilities were totally fine, when we were there 🌝 I can recommend visiting this place, ideally in a cloudy weather, but when it's not raining, but even if the weather is not perfect the place is still worth a visit! There are not a lot of pleasant places where you can walk around, but yeah the ticket is 100k (still worth it in my opinion)

Beware though, one day rental is not 24 hours but from 8am to 9pm. But they do offer to drop you back at your hotel. I would recommend!

This area is part of a collection of diverse attractions in Karangasem, including ancient traditions at Tenganan Village, the spiritual Besakih Temple, and pristine beaches like Candidasa Beach. Bukit Jambul is just 25 minutes from Besakih Temple and features charming restaurants with scenic views.
Bukit Jambul, located on the beautiful island of Bali, is a must-see destination for any traveler. The panoramic views from the top of the hill are simply breathtaking. The lush green rice terraces and the distant sea provide a stunning contrast, creating a picture-perfect landscape. The climb to the top of Bukit Jambul is relatively easy and can be done by people of all ages. The trail is well-maintained and offers plenty of shade, making it a pleasant hike even in the heat of the day. Once you reach the summit, you'll find a small temple, a traditional warung (restaurant), and several lookout points. Here, you can take a break and enjoy the views while sipping on a refreshing coconut water or a cup of traditional Balinese coffee. The sunrise view from the hilltop is fantastic, the area is not so crowded like the other famous tourist spot In addition to the natural beauty, Bukit Jambul also offers a unique cultural experience. Bukit Jambul (Jambul Hill) History : The name Bukit Jambul was first given during Dutch invasion to Indonesia. It was given by a tourist who saw a hill on the south from the main road connecting Kelungkung Regency and Besakih. On top of the hill there is a temple named Pucak Sari Temple that surrounded by big trees. While around the hill we will see the splendid panorama of lush rice fields. This makes the trees look like tuft hairs (= jambul) from far away. Location : Bukit Jambul is located in Pesaban, Nongan Village, Rendang subdistrict. It is approximately 8 km from Klungkung Regency, 51 km from Denpasar, and 15 km from Besakih Temple. Facility : In Bukit Jambul you will easily find food stands and restaurants. There is also a relatively large parking lot in this area. Description : Bukit Jambul is known for its harmonious combination of hills, rice fields, valley, and also the beautiful panorama of the sea in a distance. From the hill itself, we will see the beautiful surrounding panorama.

Snorkeling Blue Lagoon Amuk Bay is a popular activity in Bali, with Candi Dasa serving as a hub for diving and snorkeling. The town offers easy access to eastern Bali's attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Amuk Bay, also known as Pantai Labuhan Amuk Karangasem locally, is a hidden gem with its pristine white sand beach and clear seawater, perfect for those seeking a less crowded location.
Snorkeling is an absolute must-do. The water is crystal clear, and the underwater views are unreal—bright corals, loads of colorful fish, and just a peaceful vibe. Some spots can get a bit busy, but if you head out early, it's like having your own slice of underwater paradise.
Priyanshu P — Google review
We absolutely loved the snorkelling. The guide looked after us, and we even got to see a turtle!
Jodi R — Google review
If you are strong against seasick, this is the best activity you can do! The water is clear and warm and the fish were great. You will have the life jacket on, thus you should relax your body and you will automatically float. Just be careful and try not to get the seawater into your mouth and your equipments. After getting underwater, they have a showering and changing place which was clean and easy to use. The only downside is that if you easily get seasick or motion sickness then traveling by the boat and swimming may make you throw up.
Baobao — Google review
PLEASE DO THIS. What an incredible experience. The staff were amazing and spoke several different languages. Some guests had to leave early as they were sick and the staff was accommodating! Very safe and beautiful!
Genie C — Google review
I was there today, July 7th, 2024. The people were very friendly, but the beach and water are the dirtiest I've ever seen. The truth is that it's not worth it until the beaches and water are free of trash, plastic and dead animals lying decomposing on the beach, There was also oil from the boat engines. Also the poor condition of the boats, terrible. I think while the tourists are snorkeling, the boatmen might start fishing trash out of the sea to clean it up. Sorry, but Egypt's beaches are clean and perfect for snorkeling. At least until the beaches of Bali: the Blue Lagoon and surrounding areas are cleaned.

The journey begins with friendly and knowledgeable drivers who ensure your comfort throughout the trip. As you navigate through stunning landscapes, including black lava fields, you'll be captivated by nature's beauty at every turn.
Amazing experience! The guide was very kind and friendly. He took beautiful pictures of us. Highly recommend!

My partner and I loved our Mount Batur sunrise hike experience. Our driver, Jero Kadek, was communicative and on time to pick us up at our resort in Ubud early in the morning. Upon arriving at the hike starting point, we were provided with hot tea and coffee, as well as the equipment we would need for hiking (headlamp, hiking stick). Our guide, Made Rum, was fantastic. He was so kind and informative, and he took many great photos of my partner and I throughout the hike. He also helped me walk up and down some of the more challenging parts of the hike. Anyone would be lucky to have him as their guide during this wonderful hiking experience. Jero was ready to pick us up as soon as we finished the hike and proceeded to drive us to the Batur hot springs. Spending an hour at the hot springs was the perfect way to unwind after a tiring early morning hike. After the hot springs, Jero also offered to take us anywhere else we needed to go, but we wanted to rerun to our hotel to rest after. We highly recommend this tour company, and specifically recommend Made Rum as a tour guide and Jero Kadek as a driver.

Bias Tugel Beach is a hidden gem located just a short drive from Denpasar, taking about 60-70 minutes to reach. This tranquil beach offers a serene escape where you can relax and soak up the sun while watching boats glide by in the distance. The access path may be slightly confusing, but it's manageable for those willing to explore on foot or by motorbike.

Maria K — Google review
It is defined a great beach, but - like many places in Bali - it is ruined by the greediness of some locals. The beach is located in a calm and quite bay, which would make it a perfect spot to go swimming. The 10k entrance fee is not an issue however it is demanded in a rude way. There is no way to get change, even though they have obviously plenty available (even holding it in their hands). So you better have the right amount handy. There is a steep path leading to the beach making it basically inaccessible for people which are not comfortable doing some easy climbing. The biggest disappointment happens right at the beach where you are greeted by half a dozen of sellers trying to convince you to urgently buy coconuts, bracelets or rent a beach chair. There are some "restaurants" right at the beach but given the lack of electricity or running water i would not give it a try.
