Growing up in Bombay- I frequented this place and it's got a special place in my heart- not to mention we share a birthday. This is an iconic structure that has not changed. Now visiting it as a tourist from overseas, it still captires the charm and innocence as I see families, children and young couples take selfies, chaiwallahs selling hot sweet tea and instant photographers offering the ultimate background of the Taj hotel or the gateway. Do partake of the boat ride- the diesel run bimoy ride will take out out a kilometre and back a hundred years. And the pigeons- every Victorian building attracts pigeons. Best tiem to visit is at sunrise when the city is still asleep.

Right across from the Gateway stands the famous Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which adds to the charm of the place. The view of this grand hotel alongside the Gateway is picture-perfect, especially as the sun starts to set and the lights slowly illuminate the surroundings. Everything about my visit felt just right — the clean promenade, the vibrant energy of visitors, and the rich history all around. It’s a spot where you can pause, reflect, and truly appreciate the beauty and spirit of Mumbai. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city for the first time.

Alhamdulillah, I don't think that this place needs any review of anybody because this place has huge fame from people of all religions. Haji Ali Dargah is very good but under construction, I hope within a year this is completed. I had visited four times and found a real peace over there but you always found huge crowds over there as it's very famous with their real stories that the makbara is situated at the middle surface area of the ocean. Moreover, this place has different positive energy which heals you and gives you a nice experience. I'm always looking forward to visiting this place as much as I can.

However, the statue of Virgin Mary protected inside dates back to the 16th century. The road that leads to the church is dotted with many shops and stalls that sell candles and flowers, among other offerings of worship. People of all faiths and beliefs visit the church to attain peace and tranquility.

Good place to pray, visit, take cool photos. Located in Bandra area with Bandstand in walkable distance. There is museum located directly opposite side of the road to the church which got inaugurated on 15th August 2025. Most people are unaware of this new museum called “PranamMaria”.

Mount Mary is one of Mumbai’s most iconic churches, built in a beautiful Gothic architectural style that immediately captures your attention. The interiors are majestic. As someone who deeply appreciates sacred architecture though I personally follow Hindu spiritual practices I found this church unwelcoming and with rude staff as every parish feels like. The environment here should be calm, respectful, and truly reflective of Mumbai’s diverse spirit. The area should be clean, the vendor nuisance is just so annoying. The vendors are biased there is a different price for Christians and a different for non-Christians. While I personally refrain from participating in worship, I truly admire the aesthetic beauty and serenity of this space.

We arrived around 6 PM just as Mass was happening, and the church was beautifully filled with people, a mix of locals and visitors. Even though we didn’t stay for the full service or take part in any activities, it was lovely just to sit for a moment and take in the serenity. The architecture is stunning, especially as the evening light hits the façade. Bandra itself is such an interesting part of Mumbai a blend of old Portuguese roots, coastal charm, and modern city rhythm. The basilica, built during the 16th century by the Portuguese, still carries traces of that heritage in its architecture and stone walls. You can almost feel how it’s stood as an anchor through centuries of storms, festivals, and city life. Don’t miss 10 min walk to the fort!

This is a church ⛪️ where we can feel holiness. This is very nice place. There area is very peacefully and calm. We enjoyed street shopping here. However, we talk about our problem to lord by sitting in the church and praying 🙏 this is very clean and well maintained place. Washrooms are very neat and clean. Visited: November 2024 I'm an explorer who loves to visit historical and archaeological places, and Kanheri Caves was a real treat! Took a train to Borivali and then a shared auto for ₹25 to reach Sanjay Gandhi National Park. From there, I took the ₹20 shuttle bus that takes you straight to the caves. It’s amazing how such a peaceful and serene spot exists in the middle of Mumbai! The caves are well-maintained, and the history here is incredible. I was astonished by the big standing Buddha statue—it’s both impressive and calming. The ancient water management system carved into the stone is fascinating—stone channels and cisterns designed to collect and guide rainwater. It’s amazing how advanced the architecture was for its time. The ancient monk cells were another highlight—small, carved-out rooms where monks once lived and meditated. Walking through them, you really feel the quiet, spiritual atmosphere of the place. It’s like stepping back into a different time. I spent about 3 hours exploring every cave—be prepared for a lot of walking and stairs. Carry plenty of water, wear comfortable shoes, and take your time to appreciate the surroundings. There are plenty of shaded spots to rest, which definitely helps. A big thanks to the security guards—one of them saved me from an aggressive monkey and handed me his stick for protection. Beware of monkeys if you’re carrying food—they’re quick! Tip: Go early to avoid the heat, keep your food sealed, and enjoy the peaceful vibe of this historical escape. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful place to visit. From entrance you have to take government bus which is chargeable to reach the cave. A full day is required to understand each and every cave in detail. The security guards help us voluntarily in explaining the sculptures. Restroom and refreshment is available at the location.

The caves are very cool, and it's a great hiking spot. The only downside is the amount of trash dumped, which is really a shame for such a beautiful place.

It's a good experience overall. Cave 1 is the main significant cave with good carvings of different stories of lord shiva. Place is well maintained with required amenities like water dispenser and washrooms availability. As commented by many, please be prepared for a decent climb. Please be aware of Monkeys on the way. I would suggest to avoid visit if you see any rain forecast. Be prepared for a long ferry up and down for about 1 hour on each direction. There are different tickets you have to buy 1. Ferry ticket (about Rs300 per head) 2. Toy train (Rs10 per head. Optional. You can also walk) 3. Village entry fee (about Rs10 per head) 4. Elephanta caves entry fee ( Rs35 per head for adults with age >15years)

Just one out a total seven caves at the Elephanta Islands, approximately seven nautical miles away from Bombay ... have been kept in some condition that keeps the place alive for tourism. This inspite it being dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The second cave is accessible but has little majesty of carvings compared to the first. The third to seventh are closed to tourists since the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has not been successful in maintaining the heritage site.

Just got back from exploring the amazing Elephanta Caves, and wow, what a trip! 🤩 These ancient rock-cut temples are seriously breathtaking, with incredible sculptures dedicated to Lord Shiva. The sheer artistry and history are mind-blowing, making you feel like you've stepped back in time. 🇮🇳 Getting there by ferry was also a scenic adventure, with beautiful views of the Mumbai skyline. It’s definitely a must-visit if you’re ever in the area!

I recently visited the Elephanta Caves in Mumbai, and it was an incredible experience. The place truly reflects the depth of our spiritual history and the brilliance of ancient Indian craftsmanship. Seeing the Trimurti and other stone sculptures carved so beautifully without any machines makes you realize how advanced and devoted people were in those times. The energy around the caves feels peaceful and powerful at the same time. It’s a reminder of how rich and meaningful our Hindu culture and traditions are. Definitely a place everyone should visit to connect with our heritage and appreciate the spiritual depth behind it.

Elephanta Caves is a nice place to visit at least once for the experience and history. The journey itself starts from the Gateway of India, where you can take a ferry that takes around 1 to 1.5 hours one way. The return ticket costs ₹290 per person. Once you reach Elephanta Island, there’s a small toy train ride available that costs ₹20 per person to take you closer to the caves. Before reaching the caves, you’ll need to pay a small Gram Panchayat entry fee of ₹5–10. After that, there’s another entry ticket for the caves which costs ₹40 per person for Indian tourists (more for foreigners). The caves are beautifully carved and hold great historical and cultural significance, but be prepared for some walking and stairs. There are also local stalls and small restaurants nearby for snacks and refreshments. Overall, it’s a good one-time visit to explore the ancient art and enjoy the scenic ferry ride, but make sure you have enough time as the entire trip can take around 5–6 hours in total.

Visit Elephanta to truly get inspired by the craftsmanship of ancient workers. The divine structures are absolutely stunning. The vibe inside is full of divinity and peace. Recently, they have made the booking complicated. You will have to purchase the tickets online only as there is no one on the window to give you help but if you get stuck then do not hesitate to ask the security guard there for help. And please email the authorities to mention this inconvenience. You will have to take a ferry from Gateway of India, then a mini train to the island. Please be aware of monkeys and do not eat and walk as the cheeky monkeys can snatch the food or drinks from you! Also, please be aware feeding the monkeys is not permitted. There are steep stairs so be prepared for climbing a lot of stairs. If you like there are also people who carry you up above for nominal charges. There are lovely souvenir shops on the left and right of the stairs; you can buy gifts, et cetera from there. Lots of veg and non-veg restaurants as you go up. An absolute must visit if you want to truly get inspired by this vibrant city of Mumbai as it is not very far it takes just over one hour.

A great place to learn & observe our ancient culture and creativity. This place requires a whole day properly to read about each items and their history. A quite interesting place to spend time for those who is specially attracted to such items. Their are 3 floors , each of them having their own special interest. We took a ticket of ₹200/each. 😄 Although we had only 1hour left. We just ran and took some photos as fast as we can. But if you are planning to have a visit , get here with time like in the morning. Once the clock hits 6pm , you have to evacuate the campus. Must say, Tata family have a great taste in such type of cases.

My visit to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly Prince of Wales Museum) was truly an unforgettable experience! 🏛️✨ Located right in the heart of Mumbai near Fort and Kala Ghoda, this museum is easy to reach by bus, train, or cab — very well connected and marked clearly on Google Maps. 🚆🚌 The first thing that amazed me was its beautiful Indo-Saracenic architecture — the grand dome, detailed carvings, and the lush green garden around it make the museum itself a piece of art. Once you step inside, every gallery feels like a journey through time. From ancient Indian sculptures, Mughal miniature paintings, and royal weapons to Egyptian artefacts and Chinese ceramics, the collection is truly world-class. 🌍🎨 I loved how clean and well-organized the place was. The staff were friendly, and the facilities like restrooms, sitting areas, and the small café made the visit comfortable. Second visit on 26th October 2025 — visited with family. This time, we explored all the museums thoroughly. However, many sections were under repair and maintenance, so less than half of the museum was open or exhibits were shifted. Still, we discovered many previously unseen things and had a great experience overall. A must-visit if you want to learn about Indian history!. For foreigners, I highly recommend getting the audio guide kit — it explains everything in detail. If you’re planning to visit, it’s better to come after 4 to 6 months since renovation work is ongoing. Definitely recommended — go for it

Great collection and quite well maintained. The museum is still under expansion as of December 2025. Some exhibits might even beat Europe museums. If you really like museums you might just take 4 hours to see whole thing and with the audio guide. Audio guide is not absolutely necessary, you'll probably get similar, if not same information in a way on the written plaques there. Architecture of the museum is among the real highlights which needs to be experienced ofcourse.

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a beautifully maintained spiritual landmark near Gorai, Mumbai, admired for its peaceful ambience and grand architecture. It can be reached conveniently by ferry from the Borivali side (Gorai Khadi) or by road through Mira Bhayandar–Uttan. Entry is free, and ample parking is available for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. A café inside serves delicious quick bites at reasonable rates, ideal for a short refreshment break. Visitors are encouraged to maintain cleanliness and decorum within the premises. The pagoda tends to attract larger crowds on weekends, so visiting on weekdays is preferable for a more tranquil experience. Public transport options like MBMT buses and shared rickshaws also make it easily accessible.

Visited the Global Vipassana Pagoda in Gorai with my friends and had a really good experience. The entry is free, and the place is very neat, clean, and well-maintained. Washrooms and drinking water facilities are available, along with a small café for refreshments. A few sections were shut during our visit, but overall the atmosphere was calm and peaceful, especially since we went on a weekday with almost no crowd. To reach the Pagoda, you can take a ferry from Gorai, which costs around ₹100 (return ticket). From Borivali railway station or Borivali metro station, you can take a shared auto to the ferry point. I visited Pagoda Place recently and absolutely loved it. The architecture is stunning, and the surroundings are very calm and clean. It’s a great spot for family outings, photography, or just spending some quiet time. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere felt very refreshing. Highly recommended!

From Gorai Return ticket is Rs.100/head for boat service, boat not has minimum amenity and even not has sufficient sitting place. Pagoda also not have sufficient basic amenities like drinking water and sitting place. Outside food not allowed but you have to buy from inside food stall, security staff also very rude. During the time of return very large line you have to wait for getting Boat. Jetty also very dirty and un safe. Only Pagoda is decent but very crowded.

It is built over Mahim Bay. It is the second longest sea bridge after Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (commonly known as Atal Setu). It is an engineering marvel made to save hours of transit time to lacs of commuters daily. Stopping on the bridge is not allowed, no pictures to be taken by halting on the bridge, Great views of the city and the sea while moving over it.

Recently, I had the chance to drive over the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, and it was truly a mesmerizing experience. The best time to visit is around 7:00 to 7:30 PM, just when the sun is setting and the sky turns into shades of orange and pink. The view of the Arabian Sea with the glowing sunset in the background looks absolutely magical. As the bridge curves gently over the water, the cool breeze and peaceful vibe make the drive unforgettable. It’s clean, well-maintained, and gives a different kind of calmness even in the heart of a busy city like Mumbai. As the sun sets and night begins, the entire Sea Link lights up, offering a completely different vibe. The beautifully lit cables and smooth road beneath the dark sky create a perfect blend of modern architecture and nature. Though bikes aren’t allowed, the car drive itself is enough to enjoy the charm of this place. Worli sea link provides a magnificent driving experience with a view of the Arabian Sea on one side and the tall skyscrapers of south Mumbai on the other side. Speed limit is 80 km/hr. The toll booth is one hundred buck for one way, and the return in the same day is charged 50 rs.

Hanging Gardens (Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens), Mumbai is a serene rooftop oasis atop Malabar Hill with stunning Arabian Sea sunset views. It have terraced gardens feature animal shaped hedges, well-kept flowerbeds, and a charming flower clock, making it ideal for families, joggers, and photographers. Other side of the road Kamala Nehru Park, Also Known As The Hanging Garden. This Park has Special Iconic Shoe-Shaped Structure which is used to call mhataricha boot. You can sit there and enjoy the nature and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended garden to visit if you're in Mumbai.

Garden is open to all, but haven’t seen pets around there. It’s called a “view point” it clearly provides a very beautiful view to marine drive and a must visit place in evenings. People come here to spend quality time or leisure time, it’s an attraction to tourist so many tour buses visit this point. Park is clean and hygiene is well maintained. Good for pictures in morning and for view you can visit in evening.

A cool place to hang... There's no entry fee..but they check your bags. Well maintained and trimmed. The air feels better here compared to other places. I'm sure that both young and old people enjoy coming over here..to sit for a while.

🏕️I recently visited Hanging Garden after many years, and honestly, it was a little disappointing. I had been here around 10-12 years ago during my college days, and at that time, the garden was absolutely beautiful. It used to be very big, full of colorful flowers, well-maintained green grass, and spacious sitting areas — the whole atmosphere was so peaceful and fresh. But now, most of the area has been reduced, there are very few flowers, and the green grass has almost disappeared. The beauty and charm which it had earlier is definitely missing now. I still remember how beautiful it used to be during my college days — full of greenery, colorful flowers, and spacious sitting areas. I miss that charm. Giving 4 stars only because of the memories attached to this place.😊

One of the oldest and beautiful gardens of South Mumbai. It is already situated in a height in Malabar Hills. It has really scenic view. Lots of cats can be seen. A heaven place for Cat Lovers. The garden itself has many plants trimmed in shape of animals. Entry is free here. Please keep it clean. I have seen many littered wrappers.

Being a Mumbai resident for more than three decades, I visited Hanging Gardens for the first time. The occasion was Tree Walk organised by Butterflies of Mulund in association with SeasonWatch and Save Hanging Gardens group. Once you enter the park and learn to read nature, especially trees and their role, you will be amazed as the biodiversity inside this green space within the concrete jungle called Mumbai. What you shouldn't miss inside the garden: 1. Notice the variety of trees 2. Insect population including honey bees, carpenter bees, beetles 3. Scavengers and Predators like crows, kites 4. Butterfly park inside the section with lantanas

I hated my first visit at Jehangir Art Gallery after my friend hyped about it. Turns out, it was the displayed art back then that I didn't like. New arts (Photographs, Sculptures, Sketches, Paintings etc) are installed every month for you to never hate the modest, historical art gallery—Jehangir Art Gallery. It has free entry for everyone. Air-conditioned rooms with larger than life art installations that makes you escape the ordinary life to a silent, colorful, interesting one. The Gallery is located beside CSMVS museum. On the streets you find more artistes selling their art at bare minimum rates. The street, art gallery, and museum is a part of Mumbai's artistic aura. Visit it if you're nearby Fort. Jehangir Art Gallery is at a walkable distance from Churchgate Station. You can take shared cab for 20rs too. There are two rooms, one on the left and right. The building itself carries its own history. Absolutely beautiful . It has a wide range of sculptures and art from different centuries. Each piece tells its own story. The decor has been updated and each piece has a digital audio. The gardens are well maintained. A must visit

Sorry to say, buy for normal people like me and my friend, those art pieces were a bit hard to understand what it actually means. It will take a bit more knowledge for us🫠😅. It's a monument, it's a location in itself, IT IS A HISTORIC LANDMARK in Mumbai, which is famous since a century now (built in 1864) and is also diagonally opposite the high court of Mumbai City.

​This is truly one of the best places it’s completely peaceful, with absolutely no chaos. The book stalls are incredibly affordable; you can pick up books, both new and second-hand, for just around ₹100 to ₹150. It’s an absolute heaven for anyone who loves reading.

It is a beautiful part of heritage of Mumbai. Situated right on the entry of Jijamata udyan (Mumbai zoo) Recently reopened after long renovation. The museum takes you back to history. A very beautiful map of "Bombay" when it was 7 seperate islands. A French map of "Bombay" fort. A lot of beautiful artifacts. Even the floor with beautiful tiles is a part of history. Really beautiful building, stairs, ceiling, windows. A nice collection of swords and knives. A special must visit is the Museum "parisar", the adjoining garden, with a beautifully growing giant bamboo. For me, it was first time seeing such huge and beautiful bamboo. A multi barrel Gun at the entry was a total"Wow". Several old times statues are places behind the building. If you are looking for real heritage, this is the place.

Wandering through the old V&A Museum of Bombay, the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum as it is now called and it felt like stepping through a time warp made of iron, basalt, and civic self-belief. There’s that extraordinary cannon with a dozen mouths, looking like something dreamt up by a Maratha Da Vinci who had read too much of the Arthashastra. More on that in a later post. There’s the black basalt elephant that once stood sentinel on Elephanta Island, now patiently enduring selfies under the Byculla trees. Around it sit the ghosts of empire, statues of governors, reformers, and forgotten worthies, all now gathering pigeon droppings and philosophical dust. The arcaded gateway, the old milestones declaring the Limits of the Town of Bombay, the inscribed slab with its Sanskrit and English vying for authority, every object is a palimpsest of trade, technology, and ambition. Even the museum’s own label admits its purpose: to showcase the “raw products of Western India” and how they could be “converted into manufactured articles.” Empire, after all, was the world’s first venture capital firm. Yet the place has aged gracefully. The mint-green walls gleam, the brass shines, and the labels tell stories of artisans, traders, and the improbable global network that made nineteenth-century Bombay a node of Asia’s economic imagination. The floor tiles were a relevation and the busts of the founders a testament to the philanthropic and cultural vision of those people. Compare that to the CSR activities of today. Meh. It’s hard not to smile at the irony. What was once a museum of industrial extraction has become a museum of cultural reflection. Standing there, surrounded by statues and relics of authority now stripped of power, you realise how history reclaims its own space. Slowly, quietly, beautifully. Still, it was depressing. Museumology has moved on since the 19th century and the displays were atrociously arranged and explained. Not happy at all. Amazing stuff and no explanation on where who why dates nothing. It’s a crying shame. People who forget history are condemned to repeat it with people who say this sitting on the side posting plaintive posts on LinkedIn. Sighs.

This museum is located in Byculla East at a walkable distance from the railway station, inside the gate of Byculla Zoo. I got to know lately that it's the oldest museum in Mumbai. It was totally worth visiting this museum, the entry fee was ₹20 only. The museum is well maintained and it's a good place to spend some time reading about history. It's usually more crowded on weekends. I completely recommend visiting this place if you haven't visited this place yet. It's a good place to visit along with your family and friends.

Review (as of 09 November 2025): I visited this place on a Sunday, and as expected, it was quite crowded due to the holiday. You can reach here either by getting down at Byculla(Central Railway Station) or Mumbai Central (Western Railway Station). The taxi fare from Mumbai Central is around ₹60–₹70. Parking is also available, but you’ll need to purchase a parking ticket. The zoo entry ticket costs ₹50 per adult, while the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum ticket is ₹20 per adult. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to explore the entire zoo. Food (I haven’t personally tried any), beverages, and restroom facilities (with average cleanliness) are available inside. You’ll get to see animals like tigers, bears, leopards, hyenas, deer, hippos, monkeys, crocodiles, gharials, turtles, and various birds such as parrots, hornbills, pelicans, penguins, herons, and some other aquatic species. Avoid carrying homemade food or single-use plastic bottles, as they are not allowed. The nearby Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum is also worth visiting—especially for kids. It beautifully showcases historical artifacts, cultural exhibits, and old weapons like swords. You’ll need around 4 to 5 hours to visit both the zoo and the museum. Tip: Online tickets are available for both attractions.

The soothing pista green coloured Bhau Daji Lad Museum is located within the Byculla Zoo (Rani Bagh) campus, a few minutes walk from Byculla East Railway Station on the Central Line. The most outstanding feature of the museum is the heritage colonial structure. The painstakingly renovated and beautifully maintained exterior and interiors are a visual treat, somewhat overwhelming the actual exhibits. The floor tiles, the painted columns, the ceiling, the windows, the beautiful staircase with its exquisite wrought iron banisters .... a photographers paradise. Outside you will find the damaged circa 9C stone elephant from whom Elephanta island gets its name. Also some British era marble statues and other sculptures. Some of the exhibits inside are tableaux of early Bombay (now Mumbai), the original islands, inhabitants etc. Entry is INR20 for adults, INR10 for Sr. citizens. There is a separate fee for photography but phone cam photography is free. I went on a weekday morning with low footfalls. It can get crowded here quite often due to busloads of schoolkids and other visitors for the zoo also making a quick round of the museum. Estimated time : Around an hour depending on your interest.

An absolute visual treat to the eyes. The collection is mesmerizing and fascinating. The staff is very courteous and welcoming. Systematic managament. They have recently restored it and the building's 🏢 pastel shades are very beautiful ❤️😍. Not to miss it if you are in Bombay! My favourite part is the section of photographs showing Bombay's roots on the upper floor.

Review of Banganga Tank, Mumbai Banganga Tank is an important part of the city’s heritage. The serene atmosphere, surrounded by old temples and traditional houses, makes it a fascinating place to visit. However, despite its historical value, the site is not maintained as well as it should be. During my visit, I noticed that cleanliness was a major concern. Given that many tourists, including foreigners, visit Banganga to experience India’s heritage, it is crucial that the site is kept in pristine condition. Preserving such places reflects our cultural pride and responsibility.In my opinion the government should take initiative to maintain and restore Banganga Tank. Regular cleaning, better infrastructure, and awareness campaigns can help protect this historic site. With proper care, Banganga can continue to be a beautiful and peaceful retreat in the midst of Mumbai If you are a history lover or someone seeking a peaceful spot in Mumbai, Banganga Tank is worth a visit. But I truly hope to see better maintenance in the future so that this heritage site can shine as it deserves.

Banganga Tank Just next to Walkeshwar Temple is the famous Banganga Tank, a large rectangular water tank surrounded by temples and dharamshalas. As per legend, Lord Rama shot an arrow (baan) into the ground to quench his thirst, and a freshwater spring emerged here, despite being so close to the Arabian Sea. Even today, the tank’s water is fresh, not salty.

BAN GANGA tank was created by Lord Rama when he shot an arrow (baan) into ground & sacred water of Ganga flowed forth. Tank was built in 1127 AD, was later renovated in 1715 after being damaged by Portuguese invaders, served as a crucial water source 4 d city 4 centuries.

Takes you a old era and vibes like Varanasi. This ancient tank has lot to offer to history buffs, heritage lovers and artist photographers. The historic structures in surrounding area have maintained their charm. And even few renovated temples like Kashi Mutt Samsthan have kept the here look intact.

Banganga Tank, located in Walkeshwar, Mumbai, is one of the city’s oldest and most sacred water tanks. It dates back to the 9th century and is part of the Walkeshwar Temple Complex, originally built by the Silhara dynasty. According to legend, when Lord Rama was travelling to Lanka in search of Sita, he stopped at this spot and felt thirsty. Since there was no freshwater around, he shot an arrow (“baan”) into the ground, and a spring of the holy Ganga emerged — which is how the tank got its name: “Baan-Ganga.” The tank was later rebuilt in the 18th century by the wealthy Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community. Surrounding it are temples, shrines, maths (monastic rest houses), and old residences that preserve the area’s spiritual heritage. Even today, Banganga remains a living cultural hub where rituals, festivals, and even cremation rites are performed. It is one of the rare places in Mumbai that still reflects the city’s ancient past amid the modern skyline.

A place where Maa Ganga is worshipped. The ritualistic Maha Aarti involves Vedic chanting, devotional songs, and traditional worship performed by Brahmin priests, invoking blessings. "Mini Varanasi": Due to the grand scale and profound religious devotion, the Banganga Maha Aarti is often referred to as Mumbai's "Mini Varanasi.

Place is really very beautiful culture & history wise. Surrounding temple are peaceful in nature. But maintenance from local body BMC is lacking. At lots of places encroachment has happened & they they are misusing the 27*7 water supply. Like cleaning clothe & other stuff in that water. Its very much required to BMC should consider the maintenance & renovation of the place & stop encroachment surrounding the place.

If you want to check out for the most inefficient and defunct educational institutions, you must head out for Mumbai University. Even a simple process of form submission will easily consume your entire day , and moreso, there will be a line of frustrated students and parents hopelessly waiting to get a reply for their requests. I am speaking of the administrative department.. but from what I gathered from the students on campus.. some of the offered courses are really good and worth opting for.

This is probably one of the worst universities in the world in terms of administration. The administrative staff is usually uneducated and extremely rude. For every small work they need bribe, if they don't get they will make your life hell and destroy your career. Students have zero value here and are insulted even by peons. I did masters here in June 2018 and qualified for JRF but they have provided me the master degree in 2019 and enrolled in PhD in 2020. So they wasted 2 years because I didn't pay the bribe. The process of submitting thesis was 6 months and after one more year they might give me the degree.

One of the best university in Maharashtra, India. Established in 1857. Located in Fort, Mumbai. This University offers many no. Higher education degrees includes law, engineering, management, pharmacy, and many more. Easy to reach here by Bus, train and other public transport. It has very big play and sports ground beside it called oval maidan. Bombay High Court is just near to it. Kala Ghoda is also near to this University. It another University campus it at Vidyanagari, Kalina, Mumbai. Kalina campus is larger than this University campus. It provide Ph.D degree courses. This affiliates to colleges in mumbai, Maharashtra to run properly.

Temple of education. Best University in our country. Neat and clean campus. Well maintained the heritage property kept in good condition. Located near kala ghoda. Canteen is also available in the campus. One of the main education hub in the Mumbai City. Parking is not available I am not sure. As this area is highly crowded and parking issue is always there in this are. Four star from my side.

This University is spacious and have wide range of schools within it. This campus is a government campus. It is looked by Maharashtra governor as a vice-chancellor. This is a state University still features on QS world ranking and BRICs University ranking with good rank within 1000 rank which makes this University one of good University to study with. Faculties, discipline and wide range of courses make this University one of highly populated universities of India and one of the world's highest population based University.

Visited CSMT recently — truly an architectural masterpiece! 🏛️ The building is a perfect blend of Victorian Gothic and Indian styles, beautifully preserved and maintained. The intricate carvings, domes, and high ceilings make it feel like you’re walking through history.✨ It’s not just a railway station but a heritage landmark of Mumbai. The night lighting adds even more charm. Definitely worth visiting, even if you’re not catching a train! 🚉

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) is a historic railway station and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mumbai, India, known for its Victorian Gothic and traditional Indian architecture. Designed by British architect F.W. Stevens and completed in 1887, it serves as a major hub for the central railway system and is used by over 3 million commuters daily. Really one of the best places i have been to in Mumbai. This looks like really time travel experience. This building is soo beautifully done and looks really you are standing in history. Also good work my Mumbai people and the CST workers for keeping is clean and well maintaining it.

Very impressive Victorian architecture on the outside, and a great experience to walk around inside and on the platforms, well worth a visit if you are nearby - definitely try a local train if you've never experienced Indian railways!

The last station of central line. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station has many stalls for refreshment and also it has to ticket vending machines on both exits. The public toilet has air conditioning. The station sees most crowd than any railway station in entire mumbai and the closest competition is Churchgate station.

Kamla Nehru Park at located at Malabar Hill in South Bombay is such a wonderful place to spend some time, sit and relax. There is a big shoe inside this park, which has been very famous for years, it's the main attraction of this park. It's clean and well maintained. It's a good place to spend time with friends and family. Hanging Gardens is just opposite this park. I had visited this park first time when I was a little child, visiting this place again feels very nostalgic after 2 decades! There is a walking track inside this park and properly allocated places to sit at various spots. It's a great place to visit, usually there's crowd if you visit on weekends.

The nearest railway stations to Kamla Nehru Park in Mumbai are Charni Road and Grant Road, both on the Western Line.  You can walk approximately 20 minutes from Charni Road Station or take a local bus or auto-rickshaw from either station to reach the park, which is located in the Malabar Hill area.   Kamala Nehru Park is named after the wife of the first prime minister Pandit Nehru. One of Mumbai's premier gardens it is popular with young children and tourists. The garden has views of the Marine drive below – also known as Queen's necklace.

Easy to find, an active place of worship - 3 services a day except the weekend. There is a 3 thousand Jewish population in Mumbai these days. To enter - you have to have an ID and be ready to pay 300 INR for the visit plus another 500 INR if you choose to take pictures. Interesting stories told by the guide. Shalom!

Such a beautiful place! It has recently been restored by a popular architect and is a heritage site and a place of worship for the Jews. Entry is restricted to Jews, I guess, unless with special permission, like we had. It's situated in the lane behind Kala Ghoda and is a beautiful structure, both inside and outside. The lane is peppered with other beautiful designer and luxury stores and graffitied walls, making it a picturesque view.

The policeman sitting outside asked me why I wanted to go inside the synagogue. According to him "there's nothing inside". However, after I insisted on going inside, he asked me to get a photocopy of my Identity Card. Once I got the photocopy and filled in my details I was allowed to go inside accompanied by a staff member. Photography is banned inside the synagogue, but on requesting, he allowed me to click a single photograph of the altar. The synagogue is beautiful. It has a very peaceful and soothing vibe. The light entering through the stain glass windows adds to it's beauty. There is a Torah kept in the sanctuary. The staff member explained various parts of the synagogue. There are paper caps for sale, but are very expensive. Even the exterior is very beutiful. The combination of blue and white colours is very appealing and draws the attention of every person walking on the street

I peaceful heritage place which embeds Jewish history of Mumbai in it. From quite sometime this place was under maintenance and even now a bit portion of it is under maintenance. It's a place where the Jews gather for their prayers much like Christians for Sunday Mass.

Worli Fort offers a serene view of the Arabian Sea and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Though the fort is small and not very well maintained, the location is scenic and perfect for a quiet sunset. A good place for photography and some quiet reflection. Best visited in the early morning or late evening. Limited parking and cleanliness could be improved. The way to the fort is a narrow lane that passes through the dirty slum houses !

Good for clicking pictures as u get a nice view of the worli sea link and glimpse of the city from a heightened position. However the authorities are no longer maintaing the place as its surroundings look dirty. The bottom lights near the stairs are non functional and broken. Just be careful if you are visiting in monsoon as the stairs are slippery and algae/ moss affected due to non maintenance

Yet the fort – which still stands tall and majestic The Worli Fort is considered to have been built by the British around the 17th century as a lookout for enemy ships and pirates. Alternate accounts suggest that it was built by the Portuguese during the 16th century. Regardless, overlooking the Mahim Bay at a time when Mumbai was just a group of islands, the fort was of great strategic importance to the British Navy guarding the western coast of the country.

The infrastructure is beautiful but old. The college is good but has recently started some new courses in Al/DS and Cybersecurity, they seem like a scam by the no of students they are enrolling, like massive intake. The college administration should look upon this and all the other traditional courses seem pretty good and regular except some new things happening in the name of upgrade.

It was a breathtaking building. However, it badly needs some maintainance. and cleanliness. Pegions were everywhere. need to curb their nuisance. Lodha ji should contribute and take these pegions to their buildings.

Now called homi bhabha state university. Only exterior is good but interior is poor. Some freedom fighters were studied here. Poor classrooms without fan. Seating arrangement is also bad. No proper washroom facility. Not a good place to arrange competitive exams.

It is a good place for history lovers. Contains a lot of images and miniature replicas of various events related to Gandhiji's life and India's freedom struggles. Though these photos can be viewed online as well, it would be a feel-good activity to view it in the museum, especially for school kids. There is a library as well, which is open only on weekdays.

Fantastic place to visit. The building is beautifully nestled in a quiet small road. There’s a rich collection of photographs and some lovely scenery. And Gandhi’s room is very emotional to visit. I can only recommend visiting this lovely place.

It is an original historical place with artefacts. To be here like breath and see the same as Mahatma, Ali Jinhna, Neru, and many other most important for Indian independence persons. There is the original Gandhi library also.

It's about as far removed from a 21st century tourist attraction as you can get. Which is entirely fitting! Downstairs and in much of the upstairs space, it's quite bare, but it's just amazing to be in the house. The dioramas are well presented and informative and there's an interesting display of correspondence and photos. Well worth a visit.

Visited July 15, 2025 – Day 12 in India After visiting the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya museum, our guide brought us to St. Thomas Cathedral—a beautiful and deeply historic church nestled in the heart of Mumbai. Built in the early 1700s, it’s the city’s oldest Anglican church and feels like a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by history. What took me by surprise were the many graves laid directly into the floor. I made sure my husband and our daughters, ages five and seven, were careful not to step on any. My girls noticed a small white grave and were curious if it belonged to a child. When we read the inscription, we saw that it was for a 54-year-old woman, the wife of an officer. That moment sparked quiet reflection and curiosity in all of us. Inside, we saw the seat where Mother Teresa had once sat, which was marked with a small plaque. Nearby were two elegant seats once used by King George V and Queen Mary during their visit in 1911. My husband and daughters loved the experience of sitting in those very seats, imagining what it must have been like over a century ago. What I personally loved most was the peace I felt in the church. Before this trip, many people had asked me to pray for them, knowing this journey was meaningful to me on a spiritual level. In the stillness of the cathedral, I took time to sit quietly and pray for each of them. It was a heartfelt and emotional experience. We left with calm hearts and lasting memories. I truly loved this visit.

Visited Cathedral which traces the arc of a school that grew from a church vestry in to an institution having many memories while celebrating 165th year spread across six buildings in South Mumbai which had a restless past. The great institution remade the city and influenced civic life. With architecture holding memories inherited history. With eminent alumni having many challenges to face climate change, widening inequality and need of deeper empathy.

Evergreen place to see the most famous tourist spot in Mumbai. Avoid holidays and peak hours if you want to avoid rush. Maintenance work is going on presently and might not be able to move around the monument easily.

As a first-time visitor to Mumbai, seeing the Gateway of India was truly one of the highlights of my trip. The moment I arrived, I was awestruck by the grandeur of this iconic monument. The structure itself, with its impressive Indo-Saracenic architecture, stands tall and majestic, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It feels like stepping into a piece of history — you can almost imagine the days when important dignitaries arrived here during the British era. What truly made the experience special was the breathtaking view. Facing the open sea, with the cool breeze on your face and the sound of the waves in the background, the entire scene feels both peaceful and inspiring. The area is lively yet not overwhelming — people are enjoying the view, clicking photos, or simply soaking in the atmosphere. Right across from the Gateway stands the famous Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which adds to the charm of the place. The view of this grand hotel alongside the Gateway is picture-perfect, especially as the sun starts to set and the lights slowly illuminate the surroundings. Everything about my visit felt just right — the clean promenade, the vibrant energy of visitors, and the rich history all around. Growing up in Bombay- I frequented this place and it's got a special place in my heart- not to mention we share a birthday. This is an iconic structure that has not changed. Now visiting it as a tourist from overseas, it still captires the charm and innocence as I see families, children and young couples take selfies, chaiwallahs selling hot sweet tea and instant photographers offering the ultimate background of the Taj hotel or the gateway. Do partake of the boat ride- the diesel run bimoy ride will take out out a kilometre and back a hundred years. And the pigeons- every Victorian building attracts pigeons. Best tiem to visit is at sunrise when the city is still asleep.

Regal Cinema, Colaba is one of the oldest single-screen theatres with vintage charm and spacious seating. The sound and picture quality are decent, and tickets are reasonably priced compared to multiplexes. The theatre isn’t as modern or luxurious, but it has its own nostalgic vibe, making it a nice experience if you enjoy old-school cinema halls.You should enjoy their samosas during intermission.

This cinema gives you a feel of nostalgia. A good part of it resembles to what old theatres used to be. Large seating capacity, decent screen, decent sound, seating arrangement isn't very comfortable. It's very appropriate for the price you pay. Crowd is mostly college going students. So you get those shouts and chants whenever someone is making an entry. Worth a shot for a slightly different experience which is rare in multiplexes.

Pleasant reciprocal guest experience with an opportunity for improvements. Building itself is a historic colonial structure with a vast footprint of dining, leisure and accomodation spaces. Food and drinks were to an acceptable standard, with friendly staff. Gym, while dated, is large and well equipped. The building itself is in need of refreshment and renovation. Experienced significant difficulties trying to book accomodation via their website - received no reply via email. Otherwise, a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai!

I had a mesmerizing experience at RYBC, traced back to the colonial era vibe. It feels like royalty and has a great atmosphere with the Taj and Gateway of India in front of it.

Spectacular location near Taj Mahal hotel. It has a feel of heritage ambience with some amazing views and ultra delicious food. One of the top rated places to visit according to me.

We had come on a medical vacation, and our 20 days here was like staying home away from home , with the most attentive caring staff who made us feel at home completely ❤️. I used to visit this place in passing during my college days and decades later to stay here was dream come true. This yacht club is so well maintained, with little or few flaws to point out! The staff and restaurant food was impeccable! Will be back❤️❤️

We went here for a dinner on 13th Sep 2025, since we were invited by our friend who was a member, and were humiliated by one of the members while in the smoking room. The man passed homophobic remarks and class-based slurs. It was elitist and whitewashed behaviour. This is absolutely not acceptable in today’s society and the man should be happy no action was taken against him and the club for letting such people in. Unfortunately i dont know the person’s name, but if the cctvs were recording this, there should be proof.

Beautiful early 20c building with some lovely art nouveau details and magnificent views over the Gateway to India. The building is currently undergoing extensive renovations (as at November 2019) so I'm not sure how easy it is to access the interior but it's well worth trying. The views of the Gateway are from the very top of the building.

I can’t attended a scheduled show in one of the main auditoriums, but thanks to the other building within the complex, which houses the museum, library, and several interactive exhibits. This part of the complex was absolutely outstanding. The museum depicts life and struggles in pre independence era. The on-site cafe also deserves a mention. It offered a comfortable space to relax with a good selection of food and beverages at reasonable prices. The ambiance was peaceful, and the staff were courteous and attentive.The overall experience is educational and fun for all ages.

Excellent Museum and Facilities, but the Show Needs Improvement** I recently visited this cultural complex and had a very mixed experience. The site is thoughtfully designed with multiple buildings housing different attractions, each catering to a variety of interests. However, my experience varied significantly depending on which part of the complex I was exploring. To begin with, I attended a scheduled show in one of the main auditoriums, which, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The performance was poorly executed, lacking both engaging content and visual appeal. The narrative was slow-paced, and the production quality, particularly the graphics, was underwhelming. Despite what seemed like an attempt at a science-fiction or alien-themed storyline, the show failed to captivate. In fact, I noticed that many attendees were visibly bored—several even fell asleep, myself included. The visual effects felt outdated, and surprisingly, even films like *Adipurush* seemed to have better graphics in comparison. The auditorium itself was well-maintained, but the show content simply did not do justice to the otherwise impressive infrastructure. However, the visit was far from a disappointment, thanks to the other building within the complex, which houses the museum, library, and several interactive exhibits. This part of the complex was absolutely outstanding. The museum showcased a rich collection of artifacts and educational displays, thoughtfully curated and presented with a modern and engaging layout. The library was serene, well-stocked, and inviting—perfect for quiet reading or research. One of the highlights was an animated short film depicting life during the Stone Age. Despite being a simple animation, the storytelling was compelling and informative, and I found it genuinely enjoyable. Additionally, there was a dedicated art hall for children's painting activities, which was vibrant and creatively inspiring—perfect for young visitors and families. The on-site café also deserves a mention. It offered a comfortable space to relax with a good selection of food and beverages at reasonable prices. The ambiance was peaceful, and the staff were courteous and attentive. In conclusion, while the main show was a letdown and certainly requires significant improvement in terms of content and production quality, the rest of the complex more than made up for it. The museum, library, and children’s areas were excellent, making the overall visit worthwhile. I recommend visiting primarily for the museum and family-friendly activities and hope to see enhancements to the show in the future to match the high standards set by the other facilities.

Bad experience specially the show was terrible nothing interesting of new age seems like I have entered in a non scientific room of 90s. It's good for kids below 8 yrs . Rather not preferable to waste money and time on this. The museum is still some what good visit only that.

Well maintained and the content is up to date. Reach at least 20 mins early at the exhibition area to make the most out of your visit. Kids love the exhibition area and it takes time to wait your turn to take photos.

Nehru centre is that round shaped building next to planetarium. There are 3 places named Nehru Centre, Nehru Science Centre and Nehru Planetarium. Nehru Planetarium and Nehru Centre are on Dr.Annie Besent Road. But Nehru Science Centre has entry from Dr.Elijah Moses Road. Don't get confused between Nehru Centre and Nehru Science Centre. PRE-SHOW INTRODUCTION A person from the planetarium gives a brief about the solar system and planets before starting the actual show for 20 minutes. Then you get to see museum related to space and solar system, before entering the hall. Hall has reclined seat arrangement to watch whole show on the dome. Its nice to watch, but there is scope for improvement. FOOD &WATER You can get snacks and water next to exit from the hall.

Hare krishna !!! Jay shree Krishna!!! One of the best temples in mumbai, divine aura and his presence can be felt in the emotions of people visiting here. Lord krishna idol with radhaji looks so astonishing . Huge seating area with bhajans happening evey now and then which makes the visit more memorable. It has a huge verendah too with tree inside and sunlight but it actuall feel cooler inside. whenever life feels confused or stressed , just be here you might directly get your problems solved but the feeling makes ur feel strong enough. The temple is very big with paid parking space for both bike , cars and also has food counters, lord krishna related idol shops etc, reataurant also available, everything is vegetarian.

I visited ISKCON Mumbai for the 4:30 PM aarti, and it was such a divine and peaceful experience. The atmosphere was filled with positive energy — the chanting, music, and devotion truly touch your heart. The temple is beautifully maintained, very clean, and the staff and volunteers are polite and helpful. Watching the evening pooja felt spiritually uplifting and calming after a long day. Highly recommend visiting during the aarti time to feel the spiritual vibrations and serenity of this beautiful place. 🙏✨

Peaceful and Beautiful temple. Well maintained and organised, while entering you get a dedicated place to remove your shoes and drinking water/ hand wash area. I visited on a Saturday around 8:30 PM and Aarti was ongoing. They have their own shops and you can find good gifting items. They offered Khichdi and Puri as Mahaprasad which was filling and Yummy. Parking is difficult to find so plan accordingly.

Iskcon Juhu Temple Banquet Review Attended a wedding at the Shankha & Padma halls today. Both halls are air-conditioned and well maintained — one was used for the wedding ceremony and the other for dining. The space is quite sufficient for around 100–150 guests. The food and service were good. However, the washrooms could be cleaned better. Also, a separate room needs to be booked for the bride and groom to use for changing.

Bandra Fort is a lovely old fort located right by the sea, close to the Sea Link. I came here for the first time and was really impressed. From the base itself, you get a beautiful view of the ocean — but once you go up to the fort, the view becomes even more amazing. The Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link looks stunning from here, especially during sunset. This spot has been featured in many Bollywood movies and web series, and when you stand there, you understand why. The calm breeze, sound of the waves, and wide-open sea — it just feels peaceful. There’s also a small garden-like area developed around the fort, which is clean and adds to the experience. Families, couples, and even photographers come here just to enjoy the vibe. However, I noticed there’s some construction happening in the sea now — another bridge is being built. Once that’s completed, the clear open sea view from here might not be the same again. So if you want to enjoy this place in its full charm — now is the time to visit.

The place is clean, well-maintained, and offers stunning views of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Arabian Sea. It's not as crowded as other tourist spots in Mumbai, which gives it a peaceful vibe. Perfect for a leisurely walk, photography, or just enjoying the view. You can get down through the stones near the water. The view is lovely. Near to this fort SRK’s house is their “MANNAT”. This place is quite costly and besides fort TAJ Hotel is there. . I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and scenic spot in Mumbai. Some shops sell snacks, Maggie, cool drinks and tea outside the main gate of the fort.

The Bandra Fort had the perfect view of the sea-link bridge. The sunset was also very amazing from here. The gov has developed the place too into a beautiful park. But recently there is some construction of some other bridge in front of the sea link bridge and it has destroyed the total beauty of the view. With large cranes and metal platforms. Dont visit the place if you are a tourist in recent times.
