1Regent Circus

Movie theater
Regent Circus is a historic site that was once home to The Tabernacle, a grand chapel built in 1886 with seating for 1,000 people. It has since been repurposed into a modern entertainment hub with cinema halls and various dining options. Located in the town center, it offers easy access to shops, a street market on Saturdays, and ample parking.
Very nice cinema halls, very good ambience, helpful staff. Sound and quality of visuals were excellent. Surely a good family hangout as there are plenty of restaurants around this place and town center is hop skip jump. Plenty of parking as well. We liked and would surely recommend.

I live in Swindon and can tell you that there is absolutely nothing here now except Nando’s… don’t bother visiting.
Julie K — Google review
No Morrisons anymore, alarm was going off, car park had one car in it, looked strangely deserted. Great looking place with huge potential, lots of eateries, lets hope the empty space is used up soon.
E C — Google review
Oh God, its a fair enough big parking space in Swindon city but very confusing to get in. We could see the display parking board but still its hard to find it especially if you are new to the area. Parking area was dirty, no proper sign where is display ticket machine, no online parking payment option and above all not safe in early or late hours of the day. I would not reccommend this parking space if you have toddlers, lil baby or kids with you. I did not feel safe in that parking area at all.
Monal B — Google review
A perfect place to assemble in the town centre whether you want to go gaming or for a movie or a dinner after . Fun ambience and great vibe. Was fun on weekdays too when we had Morrisons there .. but now more of a weekend place.
Suhani M — Google review
Morrisons is closed now.. still there are many things at regent circus... Like chennai dosa, mecca, nandos, rudis, Cineworld and much more
Dhawal B — Google review
Very modern Shopping Centre! Very accessible and spacious. Ample parking facilities. Morrisons Supermarket an excellent store with Nandos a big attraction. Never went to the cinema but from what I've heard it's fab!!
David B — Google review
Cinema is pretty good but none of the automatic machines appeared to work. Parking is free but stressful as there's a sign that says be sure to park in the right place but staff don't seem able to articulate what that is. So now I have a couple of weeks wait in case the parking scammer company decided I've parked in the wrong place. Not sure I'll use this one again, less worry at Shaw ridge

What a beautiful and amazing church. The pastors and volunteers are friendly warm and caring. There is a service where your kids can do activities and learn more about God. The welcome team greet you with a big smile. The worship team are passionate and their singing is amazing. The pastors give an amazing message every week and then you are able to safely sit and have a coffee or tea and get to other people and the church. Beautiful church and beautiful people. Highly recommended

What an absolutely incredible church! From the moment I walked into JD Church, I felt so loved & welcomed! The Pastors are amazing; they teach brilliant sermons each week, invest so much into the members of the church & love every single person that walks into the building so well! The worship at JD is just the BEST; the presence of the Holy Spirit is so tangible, as well as it being a really fun & collective part of the service each week! Both the Youth & Kids ministries are thriving! The leaders ensure that they are led to the highest standards & are made both relevant & engaging for every child & young person that attends! The Young Adults ministry has grown so much over the past year & such a great thing to be apart of if you’re in your 20s! Coming from the North, JD Church has made Swindon my home & I’m so grateful to be apart of it!
Annabel P — Google review
This church is lovely. The team are caring, compassionate and very welcoming to all. The pastors articulate the word very very well and the worship is so heartfelt and uplifting. Personally for me, the most amazing thing about this church is the strong sense of LOVE that is felt for everyone. Its inclusive of all people. I felt this my very first time visiting. The church also run a lot of helpful courses and do outreach work in the local community. They have a lot to offer to make a difference to other peoples lives. It's a lovely place to be and i would reccomend that if you have found yourself reading the reviews wondering if this could be a place you would like to visit, do! You will be pleased you did and made to feel very welcome and at ease.
Amber R — Google review
A welcoming, lively church. Vibrant children/youth ministry. My children have been enjoying being a part of JD for 5/6 years now. It's great to find somewhere I can feel confident in my children feeling loved and nurtured with their faith. Cafe serves good coffee. Congregation is multicultural, friendly and diverse in age range and backgrounds. Worship music is modern. P&D car park accross the road with plenty of space and some disabled spaces behind the church. Definitely recommend a visit!
Elene J — Google review
So much love for this Church, I have been attending for over 5 years and am always impressed with their sense of excellence in all that they do, their love for people and the passion in sharing the Good News of Jesus. The time that is invested in the growth of anyone who wants to learn more and grow in their personal relationship with Jesus. The way they love People and the Prayer that is always at the root of all they do. I love that they support so many other Charities and also the local Community. I am Blessed to be part of this Church and to call them my Family! 🙏♥️
Angela K — Google review
What a wonderful place to share, learn, worship & more. Me & my partner visited for the first time and it was amazing. Movie March with hot dogs, popcorn, crisps, candy floss & more was different. The sermon moved my girlfriend who is not a Christian yet. Thank you all & when we are back in Swindon we will re visit. Shalom & Maranatha

Since the first day that my children and I entered JD Church, we felt the love and care of the Pastors, the entire team and the members. At JD Church, we feel at home! JD Churc is a family that cares, supports and transmits the love of Christ to everyone without exception. JD Church has a youth group - Emerge. My children participate and some of their friends have also started to participate. Today my kids and I are part of the JD Church volunteer team... my kids are part of the creativity team, they help in Emerge and I am part of JD Kids.

With a heavy heart I leave a poor review, because this church - which has a kind and knowledgeable pastor whose wife radiates the love of Christ - permits a woman with a Jezebel spirit to manipulate, control and make the Father's house a house of trade. She unapologetically targets visitors, even non-believers while leading a children's group and uses social media messaging to sell her pills. She also recruited another member who told me I am not a genuine Christian unless I buy her pills. They planned to get their husbands involved 'to help me understand'. Never a text about Jesus. Never prayer. Never genuine concern. Just sales, money and gossip. The pastor's wife kindly arranged a coffee date so things were straightened out with recruitee. But the Jezebel remained and told me privately that her father is close to the pastor so they will sort out anyone who comes against her. However, Jesus clearly instructed she should not be tolerated. The pastor should have warned her. I forgive, but because I was the one who left instead of the Jezebel I strongly feel to warn (especially young) believers and this church alike. I do so with a heavy heart and wish they learn to obey the Lord. And that she repents, gets saved and submits to God. May God protect the church.
Hanneke B — Google review
Hello there! Did you know, that it is okay to not be okay?...but you see, in God's house there is always peace, love, joy brimming from its ambience. Is it the warm welcome and embrace you receive or the spirit filled songs that just strip you off self or the Word of God being taught in spirit and truth (regardless of who mounts the pulpit) bringing life and light to the congregation. Truly, it's God's own House🙏🏾. Now imagine having this feeling everyday aside Sunday morning?... Exciting isn't it? That feeling transcends in our walk and relationship with God on a daily basis. Jesus tuggs at your heart today. Going to church isn't being religious, it is fellowshipping with people with the same FAITH. Even if you hold a different belief, Jesus's arms are wide open today and always. Service begins by 10:30 prompt today but coming early is a priority because our father awaits.🏃🏾‍♀️

The University Church of St Mary the Virgin is a stunning CofE place of worship with an intricate 14th-century spire. It's located on the High Street and offers breathtaking views of the city from its tower, making it a perfect starting point for your day in Oxford. The church also hosts regular musical recitals and events, adding to its cultural significance.
A stunning and historic gem in the heart of Oxford. The church itself is beautiful, peaceful, and typically uncrowded—a perfect place to pause and reflect. Entry is free, and it’s a must-see for history buffs, especially knowing that C.S. Lewis delivered his famous Weight of Glory sermon here. Climbing the tower costs £6 and is well worth it, though be prepared: 158 steps await, with about half in a very tight spiral. It gets especially tricky at the top if it’s crowded—the narrow passageways make it difficult to pass others, and the path around the tower leads to a dead end, so backtracking is required. Still, the panoramic views of Oxford, particularly of All Souls College and the Radcliffe Camera, are absolutely breathtaking. Bonus tip: do not miss the Vaults & Garden Café right on-site. Delicious food in a beautiful setting. This church and tower climb are a highlight of any visit to Oxford.
Dan A — Google review
Exquisite visit of the church, and its clock tower, with a one person colimaçon stairs, that gives access to a superb view of Oxford's 4 cardinal points. The price at 6£ is fair, the staff is friendly, and it smells like a Harry Potter's book.
Xavier G — Google review
Stunning partial panoramic view of the University Church! Be aware that the staircase is very narrow and steep - not recommended for elderly. Make sure you are fit to climb the stairs up and down (same way). The alleyway at the top was narrow, confined and packed. It was a one way path so you had to move if someone was coming in or out. That also meant you won’t be able to stay for long because of the incoming traffic. It was worth visiting once because this was probably the only place in Oxford where you could see a top view of the beautiful Radcliffe Camera.
Yvonne T — Google review
The University Church of St Mary felt like the soul of Oxford. Its spire reached gracefully into the sky, while inside the stillness carried centuries of prayer and thought. Climbing the tower, the city opened below me like a living manuscript — rooftops, spires, and stories stretching in every direction.
AJay S — Google review
Beautiful church, inside and out. Tower has outstanding views of Oxford and the surrounding countryside. 127 steps, give it a pass if you're more than about 90 kilos.
Paulo R — Google review
In the heart of Anglo-Saxon Oxford, a church was founded on this site on High Street, which became the first university building in 1096. Since then, the university and the church have been inextricably linked, as evidenced by the name: the University Church of St Mary the Virgin. The oldest part of the church is the tower, dating from 1270. In the late 15th and early 16th centuries, the main body of the church was rebuilt in Perpendicular Gothic style. In 1637, the Baroque south porch, a work by Master Mason Nicholas Stone, was added. Be sure to visit this interesting and beautiful church, if only for the panoramic view from the top of the tower.
Koen — Google review
Magnificent church in the centre of Oxford, largely constructed between the 14th to 16th century, with an earlier 13th century tower. The church is one of Oxford's most distinctive landmarks, featuring an ornately decorated spire completed in the 14th century, and an impressive nave built in the perpendicular style. It was used by residents of Oxford and the university, and housed the university's library until 1488. Today, visitors can look around the church free of charge, though a separate charge applies to climb the tower, ascending 127 steps to the top, an effort rewarded with excellent views over Oxford's skyline and surroundings. The latest prices and opening times are on the website.

Church
Christ Church in Old Town is a remarkable venue that beautifully blends history and culture. Notably, it houses the 1933 tomb of George Jackson Churchward, making it the youngest listed building on site. The church has become a hub for enchanting musical experiences, such as the Hans Zimmer tribute performed by a talented string quartet that left attendees spellbound with its unexpected interpretations of his iconic compositions.
Attending the Hans Zimmer tribute reimagined by a string quartet was nothing short of transcendent. Each piece did full justice to Zimmer’s complex compositions, with the musicians coaxing sounds from their strings that you’d never expect — capturing the epic power of his work in truly surprising ways. But it was not just the music that made the evening unforgettable. Sitting there, bathed in candlelight, in a centuries-old church as each note reverberated through ancient stone; the whole entire experience feels like an immersion into something otherworldly. I wholeheartedly recommend this performance, not just for the powerful music but for the haunting beauty of the setting, which elevated each moment to a place of awe and wonder. Oh, and the Church itself is amazing, as well. If you've missed the candlelight concert there's always the beer festival...or Sunday mass :)

Church
St John the Baptist Church is a charming hidden treasure tucked away down a narrow, grassy lane that many might overlook. This ancient site, cared for by the Churches Conservation Trust, boasts origins dating back to Anglo-Saxon times, with much of what we see today dating from around 1205. A striking feature is the exquisite carving of Madonna and Child on its south wall, hinting at its rich history.
This church is a hidden gem , access is down a narrow lane which seems to have more grass than tarmac. If you don't know this church is here , then it would be easy to miss it. The church itself is looked after by the churches conservation Trust and is open every day. It has origins in Anglo saxon times but what can be seen now is dated from around 1205. Indeed there is an Anglo saxon carving of what appears to be a mother and child in the wall, which hammers home the age of this place. As you walk in , your struck by its simple beauty, a d stepping back into a long gone age. There are remnants of wall paintings everywhere ranging as far back as the 13th century . For what we see now ,we owe thanks to William Morris who in 1880 campaigned to ensure it was sympathetically restored rather than being modernised by those naughty victorians. If you are in the area , do go. It's a gem you won't regret it. There is limited parking , but being alongside the Thames footpath there may be times in the summer that spaces are at a premium

One of the oldest churches in use in the UK. It's true age is not fully known but the Madonna and Child carving would indicate late saxon at least. Evidence of 13th century frescos remain. A true experience to sit in this hallowed place knowing the generations that have worshipped there
