Place of worship
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Paul is a large Catholic church located in Philadelphia. The church features an imposing facade, a massive dome, ornate main altar, and eight side chapels. The cathedral comfortably holds 2,000 worshippers and is one of the most architecturally eminent structures in the city. The interior features beautiful murals, mosaics, and stained glass windows by Constantino Brumidi.
Daily Mass & Confessions! Church open until 5pm for anyone to walk in and spend some quiet time in prayer and meditation! Go further and schedule a tour! The history of this place is absolutely incredible! The building survived a long period of attacks while the faithful survived also a long challenging time for simply professing their faith! This is the cathedral because it is the bishop’s church and this is also the shrine of St. Katherine Drexel because this incredible Philadelphian woman is buried here! Katherine was the first person to foster high education for native, brown, and black people in the United States! If you choose to come to Mass in the weekend, be ready to be amazed by the beautiful liturgy this church offers! It makes even the most skeptical person to look heavenward in awe!

Even though I’m not Catholic, I visited the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul out of respect and curiosity—and I’m really glad I did. The architecture is absolutely stunning, and you can feel the history in every corner of the space. It’s a peaceful, awe-inspiring place to take in, whether you’re religious or not. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and appreciate beautiful, historic buildings.

May be the biggest Cathedral in Philly. Beautiful architecture! So massive inside! You can go in most times to sit and pray. This is where they have a lot of fallen Police and Fireman funerals.

Well worth a visit. Daily mass is at 12:05 in the Chapel. The facility is well cared for and a peaceful retreat in the city.

We spontaneously decided to stop in - Pope Leo is such a hopeful #influencer and shepherd - and my heart and head were so much better for it. I am grateful 🙏🏼🕯🕊

A truly magnificent Cathedral especially for a cathedral in the US. It reminds me of the great cathedrals of Europe. There's beautiful stained glass windows and mosaics in the side chapels, plus a shrine to Saint Katherine Drexel.

We have been photographing weddings here for years, and it always breathtaking. This is a stunning cathedral for a Philadelphia wedding.
Tyler P — Google review
The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia is nothing short of breathtaking and a must-visit for anyone appreciating history, architecture, or spirituality. From the moment you walk through its grand doors, you’re met with an overwhelming sense of peace and awe. The sheer beauty of the cathedral is a masterpiece in itself. The stunning exterior, with its towering columns and copper dome, sets the tone for the magnificence inside. The interior is equally, if not more, spectacular. The intricate mosaics, beautifully painted ceilings, and ornate stained glass windows create a heavenly atmosphere. Every detail, from the marble altars to the gold accents, showcases incredible craftsmanship and dedication. The cathedral is not just a feast for the eyes but also a place that invites reflection and serenity. Whether you attend a service or simply take a quiet moment to sit and admire the surroundings, it’s a deeply moving experience. The acoustics are incredible as well, making it a special treat if you happen to catch a choir or musical performance. Located along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is a true gem in the heart of Philadelphia. It’s a place where history, faith, and art come together to create something truly magnificent. Whether you’re religious or not, it’s worth a visit for its beauty and grandeur alone. An unforgettable experience!

Christ Church, established in 1695 as part of William Penn's Charter, is a historic landmark in Philadelphia. It was known as "The Nation's Church" during the American Revolution and hosted prominent figures like George Washington and John Adams. The church's existing structure dates back to 1744 and is considered one of America's best Georgian structures. Its steeple, designed by architect Robert Smith and financed by a lottery organized by Benjamin Franklin, adds to its historical significance.
My husband and I go to a lot of cemeteries, but we had no idea that there were vaults in the church. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history on the church and the vaults. It also had a beautiful garden.
Toni W — Google review
An interesting church and well worth the visit. Well laid out, excellently maintained and full of historical references both inside and out. Whilst the main burial fround for this church is a couple of blocks further down the road, there is also plenty of interest in the burials that surround the chuch, including signatories of the Declaration Of Independence. The organ inside the main body of the church is magnificent and there are historic bells both inside and outside. It's worth noting that the church doesn't shy away from it's former parishioners involvement in the slave trade, including the weeping time I would suggest that it's slightly overpriced if you are just visiting this church without one of the multi-venue tickets.
Neil K — Google review
Worth a quick visit while in this part of town. Some of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were laid to rest here, but not Ben Franklin. Heis buried a few blocks away at a site that also belongs to the church. The staff here was very helpful with maps of the area right around the church
Mike N — Google review
Really beautiful church and very kind staff. It was free to get in, but they accept donations. You can see where the founding fathered are buried and where they sat in church!
Megan R — Google review
Beautiful church with a neat and well-maintained surrounding area. The photos were taken on the evening of October 31, 2024. The slightly yellowing tree foliage perfectly complemented the natural and peaceful atmosphere of the place. I wanted to go inside and take some beautiful shots of the interior, but unfortunately, the church was closed.

I didn’t pay to go in, but it is a lovely looking church from the outside and within the grounds.

The First Church of the Nation according to the tour guide. President's George Washington and John Adams worshipped here, and you can even sit in their pew called the President's pew. Benjamin Franklin and his wife Deborah also have a designated pew. Interesting place to stop to learn more history. It's $5/adult and $3 for 3-12.

Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic gem that embodies the rich tapestry of African American heritage. Founded by Richard Allen in 1787, this landmark church not only stands as a testament to faith but also played an essential role in the abolitionist movement and served as a refuge for those seeking freedom via the Underground Railroad. As one of America’s oldest continuously owned properties by African Americans, it reflects resilience and community spirit.
We didn’t get to go inside, but it was an amazing part of history to visit and read about!

Excellent tour with Sharon, who's a retired teacher and has been with Mother Bethel since the 90's. A must see stop in Philadelphia. I learned a lot about Bishop Ricard Allen, a remarkable man. Great museum collection in the crypt below the church and a lovely our in the church itself. Beautiful stained glass windows and vaulted ceiling.

Established in 1700, it holds the distinction of being the city's oldest church that still actively conducts worship services. Visitors can partake in free tours to delve into its rich history and deep-rooted connection to the city. Our children went here for Pre-K and we loved our experience. The teachers are wonderful and do a great job. Thank you Gloria Dei.

Gloria Dei Church…. We had a very small gathering for my sisters, 58 birthday party. we had an amazing beautiful time. This location is very private. No one bothers you if you’re looking for a great hall this is the place to rent hall. it helps the community and they also have a daycare center. We were all very happy thank you once again, hope to zoom in the near future to re-rent the space again.

I am fairly new at Gloria Dei church and have only been attending since november 2024. I can say that this church is very accepting of all, as Christ was. Most recently there has been a fill in pastor Rev. Dr Emmanuel Philor Sr He's absolutely wonderful, I could listen to him for hours. He is very seasoned. It is my hope that Gloria Dei will bring him on in a permanent part time position as they've mentioned a few times about wanting a Pastor in a part time position. He would be perfect. Thank you Rev Philor for your captivating sermons, your appropriate humor, your thoughtful introduction into prayer and your reverence during communion....not to mention your benediction where you always mention heaven as no more sunrises or sunsets.... We miss you already...please come back soon.

If you are a real Christian you would never join or stay in this church. They do not hold to the word and have gone off the deep end.
Mike M — Google review

Nick S — Google review
Beautiful grounds, serene place of worship, great programs run by awesome people. I've never met a person affiliated with gloria dei that I didn't think was amazing
Trish D — Google review
Yes, I like this church it is like a slice of heaven, and a breath of fresh air to me. Their is shadow and light, kinship and kindness, as well as heart and compassion. Which is embedded within the faith like a mustard seed which seems to flourish from all, from the children to the elders as well as from their Pastor Rev. Karyn Wiseman. I especially love how from the moment I wait for the bus is the most dynamic & energetic ride to the church, 44 stops from home, but only 17 minutes from home. Their is nothing more amazing that the unconditional love, healing and nurturing of the word presented to ALL to hear in a Compassionate and most Empathetic way! I have only attended twice, but years ago I was supposed to attend this church after my teacher/preacher died and the church body moved from Knights Road to a store front on Bustleton Avenue in the neighborhood I grew up in. These past two ventures out to this church has been enlightening and refreshing to me. I do not normally fill out the recommend/review this early, but I know in my heart & soul it is okay to fill this out now. The most amazing thing about attending this church is I can take the train one stop to Philmont Station and walk to my parents house.

Nestled away in the heart of Old City Philadelphia, Old Saint Joseph's Catholic Church is a hidden gem that dates back to 1733, making it the oldest Roman Catholic church in the city. Tucked into 321 Willings Alley, its unique location makes it somewhat elusive to find from the street.
A little church with a big heart that changed my life for the better. There's a reason it has been around for 292 years: parishioners are friendly and welcoming, liturgies and music are excellent, and many opportunities exist to get involved in ministries, committees, and activities. People truly support and care for each other here and you really feel the presence of the Lord the minute you enter. This church practices what it preaches with true Christian charity and hospitality. +AMDG! Sunday Masses: 7:30am, 9:30am, 11:30am. Daily Mass on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 12:05pm.

This church is beautiful inside and out. The outside has a quaint garden area. We attended mass on Saturday afternoon. The mass was done in a mix of Latin and English, but was very easy to understand and follow along. The church was nice inside, but didn’t have quite the historic grandeur that we were hoping for in such an established church.
Audra K — Google review
I didn't get to explore it, but it is a very pretty church. Wonderfully maintained from what I saw I was there for a wedding.
Kevin B — Google review
This historic church is a beautiful, spiritual place in the heart of old city Philadelphia. The history and aesthetics are stunning, and even if you are not religious, it is a very worthwhile place to visit. It is practically hidden within the city block, but the beauty when you enter its doors is expansive.
Rob J — Google review
Beautiful church. I'm Catholic so I have a certain perspective through that lens. However, from a historical perspective the church was a wonder to see and is in outstanding condition. The original hand written letter from George Washington to the original pastor should interest any history buff.

Old Saint Mary's Parish/Roman Catholic Church, established in 1763, holds a significant place in the historical tapestry of Philadelphia. As the second Roman Catholic institution in the city, it played a vital role during both Colonial and Revolutionary times. Notably, it was where the first public religious observance of the Declaration of Independence took place and served as the first Roman Catholic Cathedral for Philadelphia's Diocese from 1810 to 1838.
This Roman Catholic Church, built in 1763, is not far from Independence Hall, and tied to it in American history. The adjoining cemetery includes the graves of Commodore Barry (Father of the US Navy) and George Meade. Members of the Continental Congress attended services here from 1777-1781. The church offers daily morning mass on weekdays, plus a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning service. If you visit when the church is closed, there are interpretive plaques detailing its significance.

My Aunt Peg Carroll loved Old Saint Mary's Church and was so proud to Lector and help with the cookie and coffee gathering after mass. I visited my Aunt often and loved to see the changes. There is a lot of character and history in this church. The priest was wonderful and caring. My Aunt Peg recently passed and I will always think fondly of both she and Old Saint Mary's. "God of our fathers-be with us yet." ♥️

Honestly, this the best church I have ever attended. Monsignor Paul is truly an amazing human being. And, a fantastic pastor. The history of this church is part of the core of America. And, he recognizes that awesome responsibility while also representing the heart and sole of modern Philadelphia. He somehow is able to give a homily in 5-7 minutes which inspires intellectual though for the rest of the week. The Jesuits should be very proud of him as he embodies the ethos of being "A man for Others."

Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, established in 1768, holds a significant place in American history. During the Revolutionary War, its pastor served as chaplain to the First Continental Congress and supported Washington at Valley Forge. The church is known as the 'Church of the Patriots' and is the final resting place for over 285 Revolutionary War soldiers. Notable figures like John Adams and Jared Ingersoll have been associated with this historic church.
This congregation has all generations from kids to age group. Simple design but packed with congregations. Lots of mission projects and community connects are established. A Blessed Visit to Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church! We are so blessed to have found this amazing church! A heartfelt thank you to the lady who opened the church for us and graciously showed us around. We were deeply touched by her generosity and the passion with which she explained the significance of this church in American history. I even recognized some parts of the church that were filmed in the movie "National Treasure." Once again, thank you for your kindness, and God bless you!

Historic church not afraid to talk about the most important current issues. Worship finds a place to center yourself with great music, thought provoking sermons and a chance to raise concerns and celebrations in prayer. The congregation is filled with families and professionals and gives everyone a chance to find a place to reach out into the community to give back.

We attended Old Pine for the first time on 2/12 with our daughter. We enjoyed the service and the enthusiasm that the members have for their church. The choir is inspiring and, along with the organist, raised my spirits. Old Pine is a gem in many ways. I look forward to returning during a future visit to Philadelphia. God's spirit was present.

Carr to cater to German and Irish immigrants, this majestic church has welcomed all with open arms—regardless of background or belief. The stunning architecture is adorned with captivating artwork designed for an illiterate audience, making it visually striking for visitors today.
Beautiful church with abundant history! The Catholic Church is over 219 years old, located in Old City, Philadelphia. The artwork adorning the walls and ceiling were created for an illiterate population so very visual. The upper balcony is closed to visitors but the alter is stunning as are the many paintings and stained glass windows. Fun fact: this is the church that was featured in the classic 1999 film, The Sixth Sense, a movie with one of the best twists in movie history.

I recently read about the vibrant Philippine community at St. Augustine and decided to surprise my wife—who recently moved from Manila to the U.S.—with Sunday Mass at the church. The experience was truly special. The church itself is beautiful, but what stood out most were the amazing parishioners who welcomed us so warmly and made us feel like we truly belonged. Even days after our visit, the fellowship and kindness we received continue to resonate deeply with both of us. As a lifelong Catholic, I can honestly say I’ve never felt such a profound sense of belonging in a church. Growing up, attending Mass always felt like a requirement passed down from my parents. But this was different. For the first time, I felt genuinely at home. Thank you, St. Augustine, for reminding us what community and faith can truly feel like

What an incredible place to be. Went into the church this evening for Ash Wednesday mass and felt like I was meant to be there. I have been part of the same parish for over 20 years, moved to Philly one month ago and was hoping I would find a place that felt like home. The music was stunning, the homily was easy to connect to and the parishioners were welcoming and friendly. I felt my mother’s presence calling to me when I saw the St Nicholas of Tolentine statue and knew I got this one right the minute I walked through the doors. The bonus was receiving confession after mass; feeling safe and emotionally and spiritually held by the priest was such a gift. I can’t wait to return on Sunday.

St. Peter's Church in Philadelphia is a stunning red-brick edifice steeped in over 250 years of history, making it a significant national historic landmark. Founded as an offshoot of Christ Church in 1758 on land gifted by the sons of William Penn, this church has been a spiritual home since its first services began in 1761. The interior retains much of its original 18th-century charm, where many Founding Fathers once gathered for worship. The congregation at St.
Beautiful worship place. Even though religion lost its own unique character and guidance to the ordinary people, we as human being sometimes looking for God.

Popped in to check it out and the lady there gave us a 5 star tour! Showed us where the presidents sat and where the who-to-know hung out. Explained the physical structure and how they bounced sound around the room. Had an example coal heater and a wealth of history. She was delighted to share a story of her daughters wedding there. Gorgeous and so important. Love that its still in use.

If you're on the hunt for a vibrant and welcoming place of worship, look no further than Freedom Church Center City. Established in 2003, this non-denominational church may not boast an ornate building yet, but it certainly makes up for it with its warm atmosphere and engaging community. Located just off Broad Street in Philadelphia, Freedom Church is known for its friendly vibe—attendees often describe it as inviting without being overwhelming.
It was really great being there this Sunday. Last month I went to a similar so much like this church it was in Audubon, PA in the King of Prussia area. The pastor was Ed Crenshaw. This pastor Gabe Bouch at Freedom Church was really filled with the holy Spirit and really preached the word of God really deeply. God bless him as he and everybody was really friendly there.

I love Freedom Church! I’ve been attending regularly for over two years now. I appreciate how Biblical the sermons & ministries are while also being led by the Holy Spirit. I’m in my late 20’s & the community here is terrific. I’m grateful for how God’s used Freedom and the people that go here to minister to me powerfully. I highly recommend you see for yourself how God is at work here! 🙏🏻🕊️

If you are ever in downtown Philadelphia and want to enjoy a “young” church; this is the real deal. Amazing music & great message 😁
Roy D — Google review
I was failed by Freedom Church. These are some of things that i have seen. I saw a church more concerned with order than doing it Christ's way. They also seem to care more about their brand more than Jesus. I saw a guy get removed from a group chat because he posted too much and that angered people so he got removed from the chat. He then reached out to me for help when he had a crisis because he lost access to the church group chat. The church, essentially, locked him out. For me, i was told to not post much in the missions group chat and a leader said it was "for my good" to not post. I had tried to work to get people involved in doing the mission and they took away my opportunity to try to share the Gospel. Sounds like Jesus, right? Rather than handle things with grace they chose punishment and put my Gospel mission sharing on hold for 3 months. That is the type of church i experienced. A church concerned less about Jesus and more about something else. I had met someone who had left the church due to the people there. These are lots of red flags. And i hope that they fix these issues. I finally decided to post my experience here as people should know what i experienced as churches that represent Christ like this shouldn't be. I decided to stand up against this church and hope it changes its ways. This is, potentially, an abusive church. Mars Hill is a thought that came to mind and people shouldn't think that about a church but the thought came across my mind. It takes work but you can find a better church. This was my experience. They also paid money to appear first on the search engine. Taking all the Christians looking for a non-denominational church. That has to be mentioned as well. Many flags.
David T — Google review
A lukewarm church that preaches morals but devoid of the gospel. Sermons are just general good advice and morals that you could probably hear in a self-help class, synagogue, or any other religion. What’s really telling about this tourist church is that they take Sundays off. How are you going to forsake regular gathering of the saints, something literally prescribed in the Bible, bc they need a holiday? What are church members supposed to do? This summer they’re just doing “worship in the park” and I doubt the word is being preached at all. I bet the music is good tho. Their “pastors” all go through “training” put on by their network and is a joke to any kind of formal theological education. And oh boy does it show in their shallow sermons. The church in this day is in a sad place and Freedom is a prime example of this. Just a bunch of people playing church and patting themselves on their backs. What a joke.

How great is our God? This church is full of life love and great teaching. I have seen my son grow in ways beyond my greatest imagination. First this is a beautiful Church! The congregation warm and welcoming. I was there July 11th for the concert series "Music In Your Neighborhood" sponsored by Artcinia.com and hosted by First Presbyterian Church. Guest soprano Ren'ee Richardson and piano accompanist Ting Ting Wong were a dynamic duo!! Both of these artists are affiliated with The Clevelend Institute Of Music (CIM) and The Academy Of Vocal Arts (AVA). Amazing music and heavenly singing made this concert a hit! What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I had goose bumps and was holding back tears at the same time!! Thank you to all involved it was a very special afternoon...and I will be back for your July 25th concert! Thier crisis ministry only caters welfare recipients how and why are working class people even over looked by the church. Its a shame that because i work hard every day and chose not to have 17 kids i am over looked. Truly disappointing ministry no different than DPW. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Center City, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church stands as a testament to resilience and faith. This historic Gothic Revival church, completed in 1832, has weathered numerous challenges over the years, including devastating fires and anti-Catholic riots. Despite its tumultuous past and a shift from residential to commercial surroundings that has reduced its parishioner base, St. John's continues to thrive as a spiritual haven for all.

Tenth Presbyterian Church, located in the historic Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, is a stunning Gothic-style building with beautiful stained glass windows and a 250-foot tall spire. Although the spire is no longer standing, the church continues to hold services inside. The church's architecture was designed by architect John J. McArthur and originally housed an offshoot congregation known as West Spruce Street Presbyterian Church.
Beautiful Church, wonderful staff and ministers. If you go here expecting service like a non-denominational church, you will be solely disappointed. However, even if you’re new to reformed theology/calvinism. And you’re nervous about service, or governance. I assure you, give it a chance. Take the membership classes, and learn before you judge this church with a long history. I can’t say one single bad thing about the ministers here. Whether your first service, or you’re a deacon, they treat you with personal love and respect!! Pastor Geiger is an outstanding minister, with an amazing story! Plenty of small groups, and community. You truly are missing out on a church that is slowly becoming its best self. They know they need to do better with evangelism, passion with the Holy Spirit, and getting people at service to get to know each other. No church is perfect, but they’re trying their best! Through God they shall prosper. Amen!

02/07/2025 I should go to 4th Street and Market Street to the news station and see if they'll put me on the news and let the truth out. I asked to become a member because that's the only way to receive financial assistance. I was honest of why I wanted to become a member and punished by being told I could become a member but could not receive financial assistance. I am in a dyer need of EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. And doors are constantly CLOSED in my face. How am I supposed to commit to the church if the church isn't showing faith? Isn't walking in faith? How am I supposed to be drawn to a faithless church? WHERE IS GOD IF GOD ISN'T IN THE CHURCH?

I have found out over time that this church does things the messed up way not the God-glorifying right way. I was treated very, very poorly by them when I was sick in the hospital. They have ZERO ministry skills. Their thing is to ban & block people. The leadership acts like the Scribes & the Pharisees in the Bible. Tenth is run more like an exclusive boojee country-club than a church & a ministry that cares about people. That's the truth.
AJ E — Google review
The building is beautiful but the service was worshipful and the Word was preached. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular attendee. They encourage mingling after the service with some food items and drinks at the back of the sanctuary.

Nurturing Christian preschool program, well-run, sense of community for parents and students, great indoor playspace; farm fieldtrip, free programs like biweekly playgroup for babies/toddlers, park meet-ups for students, parent bible study groups, etc.; great location in Center City. 2-day program for 2-3 year olds, 3-day program for 3-4 year olds, 5-day program for pre-k and kindergarten. The school year generally starts in mid-September. Morning program with some afternoon extension options. My kids love this school and made friends easily. Some parent volunteer opportunities. Group play/learning was the focus in my kids' classes; instruction was not tailored to develop individual students' talents/interests. Outstanding music program. Teachers were caring, kind, and dedicated. Fun Christmas and year-end celebration performances. Long winter break. Many students from this school go on to attend elementary school at the Philadelphia Classical School in South Philly.

Instead of apologizing to feminists and social justice warriors, you should hold fast to the truth of the Gospel. I’m sure you think you do that, but it’s not looking good. Recent sermons seem quite socially liberal. A prominent member of your Church is running for Mayor as a democrat. Amazing, considering what the democratic platform stands for, moderate or not. I thought I had found a Church that stands for the historical and Biblical message of Christ, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that this Church is just another in the long line of defunct organizations. The PCA is dying, just as the PCUSA, and MANY others already have. You would think they would learn, but the god of this age is incredibly strong. I understand that you’re located within the very bowels of Philadelphia, but you must come out from among them, and be separate. I only wish the best for you and the PCA. I pray sincerely for God’s will to be done. I’m sure it will.

I started going to this church in 2010. It was around the time they were looking for a new Senior Minister, thank God I heard Tripp before he left. I first received wonderful feedback from a few Ministers who have since left. They were interested in me joining the church. Received a letter and everything. First some of those small groups, not all are what they are cracked up to be. Meeting in someone's home. Very nice they open their home but some of the participants aren't open. Second after I received that letter acknowledging my wanting to become a member. Nothing Nothing I didn't even know where to begin to follow up about it. I was disappointed. I like some of the Ministers there now but that church in and of itself, the people aren't that friendly and it seems that they aren't too interested in getting new members. Attend service every once and a while because they have an excellent music ministry. They have great outreach programs. Servicing for service sake I suppose. Update 1-29-2017 Evening service okay....friendlier greetings and always excellent choir!

I've gone to this church since early childhood and am currently still attending as an adult. Tenth is a traditional, reformed Bible-believing church with sound theology. It isn't perfect but no church is, and they have always been honest about their mistakes and grown from them. I've seen a couple of reviews saying that leadership needs to be more welcoming and outgoing, and my reply is: give it time and patience and genuinely make an effort and you will find so many great opportunities to make friends and connections and find a community. Don't judge a book by its cover. I've personally never met an unkind leader at Tenth... for years many have been great Christian role models to me and have helped me progress in faith and wisdom. The youth and college ministries are great. This place will always be a safe place for me and like a second family.

With a focus on building fulfilling spiritual lives and strengthening relationships with God, City Life Church is dedicated to caring for its members and bringing those who have strayed closer to Him. I’ve been attending this church virtually for like 1.5 years and now in person the last 6 months. I must say, this church has been such a blessing. It is very rare these days to find a church that is rooted in the word of God and this church is among the rare few in today’s times. Pastor Brad, Pastor Leah, Pastor Chip, Pastor Chris and all the other guest preachers are wonderful! They draw from the word of God and His Holy Spirit. The church is rooted in prayer and thanksgiving. We get to do life together in our respective life groups. It’s been such an honour to get to know all the wonderful people who regularly attend. I've gone twice now, more than enough times to tell what kind of church this is - the best kind! Pastor Brad always delivers an engaging, fun, and fantastic service and the church band is enlightening, energetic, and fun! This is just what is needed for a modern day church - it is alive! It's not dry or boring at all! It is a fresh, friendly, warm, and welcoming environment with such wonderful people too! For years I was told about this church but thought I'd be better off working on my own self-discovery of God. At some point, you run into a wall and you need a church just like this to help lift you over - this is that kind of church! My only regret is that I didn't start attending sooner. Trust me, this will become the cornerstone of your Sundays, it already has for me! This is a no obligations, non-forceful church, one that makes you feel at home, welcomed, and each and every service is powerful, filled with the Word of God, His Gospel, and absolutely wonderful advice. You don't need to be a Christian to attend, there is no affiliation - we are one, no division - we are diverse, and no pressure at all. Whether you are seeking God and beginning a Christian life, working on a better relationship with God in your life as a Christian, or studying His Gospel a great deal, this church is for you! Parking and seats are plenty, there is free coffee and water, and there is a wonderful child center to drop the kids off inside, so there is absolutely no reason not to come!

Review: A Hidden Gem in Philly The Philadelphia Masonic Temple is such a cool place to visit! The building itself is absolutely beautiful, and the amount of history packed inside is really impressive. Each room has its own unique style and story, and learning about the Freemasons and their traditions was super interesting.

The Arch Street Meeting House in Philadelphia is a historic site that serves as both a museum and an active Quaker place of worship. It was built in 1803 and is the largest meeting house in the world by seating capacity. The site offers tours that provide insight into its history, including its connection to William Penn and the Religious Society of Friends. Visitors can explore dioramas depicting Penn's life and view artifacts related to Quaker history.
I found this place fascinating because I am a massive religion nerd, specifically about nonconformist religions like the Quakers and Unitarians / UUs. That said, I think anyone with a passing interest in historical places would find this interesting and atmospheric. It is very peaceful and pleasingly plain and well designed. There’s a small museum area and we overheard a very knowledgeable guy giving a tour to another couple. Would be good if they sold books about the Quaker way.

My middle school students went on a field trip to Arch Street Meeting House this week and had a fantastic time! Jennifer, our guide, was knowledgeable, engaging, and flexible. The tour consisted of the gardens and exterior, and then the interior of the building. Since we are a Quaker school, the students were able to learn more about the history of the Quakers in Philadelphia as well as have time to sit in a meeting room that is over 200 years old. We participated in a walking tour of Olde City after lunch, and Jennifer continued to make connections with the students to the information they learned earlier. It was an excellent presentation, and I would highly recommend it for those who who have an interest in Philadelphia history.

This is a precious location for a wedding. The gardens, lawn and trees are beautiful. The inside area is simple with old wooden benches. It peaceful and very clean. We really enjoyed getting to go to two lovely events here.

This active place of worship has been a National Historic Landmark since 1971. The Federal style red brick building was designed by Quaker architect Owen Biddle, Jr. and built in stages between 1803 and 1811 with renovations during the late 19th through early 20th centuries. Many congregants are buried in unmarked graves on the grounds. Tours inside the building are available for a fee.

Arch Street Meeting House is a truly special and serene place with rich historical significance. Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, the building and grounds are beautifully preserved, offering a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection. The simplicity of the Quaker architecture is both charming and calming, making it easy to feel connected to the history and values of the space. The staff and guides are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, providing fascinating insights into the Quaker heritage and the role the meeting house has played in American history. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a quiet retreat in the city, this is a wonderful place to visit!

If you're in Old City Philadelphia make sure you check out Arch Street Meeting House. While not the original Quaker worship site in the city, this location continues to serve as an important part of the local Quaker community as it has for the past two centuries. As expected with an anti-baptist, protestant house of worship, the interior of the complex speaks of the simplicity of Quaker beliefs. That said, it also speaks of their craftsmanship as the woodwork will leave you, even if you're not typically a fan of architecture, breathless. Check in and see when services take place and if you can visit when meetings or services are not taking place, you will enjoy yourself tremendously. And make sure you read the signs outside or speak to a member inside about what lies beneath your feet as you walk the grounds..... ;)

Beautiful and historic venue for a wedding ceremony. We visited in July. It was a little warm because no air conditioning. We really enjoyed the Quaker self-uniting ceremony with no officiant and it was very special that every guest signs the wedding certificate.

I enjoyed visiting the grounds of this old church. Philadelphia is known as the city of brotherly love because of the strong testimony of this denomination of Christians known as the Quakers that still meets in this over 200 year old building. They were essentially the founders of the Philadelphia. They were also the first group of people to actively fight against slavery and organise themselves as abolitionists. This premises first started off as a burial place.

The National Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel was a stunning location that I had the opportunity to explore before its closure. This divine sanctuary left me feeling grateful for the chance to visit such a sacred place.
+JMJ Was blessed to help a friend move from Richmond VA to S. Philly. Having a few days to stay for a visit, he took my friend and I to several Churches and Shrines that had special affiliation with holy men and women who lived in Philadelphia. One such devoted follower of Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic Church is Saint Katherine Drexel. My friend and I were allowed to meet one of the Sisters who knew St Katherine and who actually helped the then ailing St Katherine with physical health support. We were also invited to join her and the other Sisters in the community for lunch. Very sweet and kindly ladies! Additionally, we paid a visit to the National Shrine of St Katharine, spending time in prayer and in viewing the artifacts which belonged to her at different moments in her life. It was nice to visit the Shrine which is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of her life dedicated to serving Jesus in the then disassociated Native Americans and Black Americans. Sacred Scriptures informs us that Jesus said they will know that you are My disciple by the love you have for others. Amen!

There is something very special about this place. You can also get holy water from a fountain so bring containers or you could buy a bottle from the gift shop. Also don’t miss the first class relic tucked on one of the exit of the shrine. Write your petitions, pray to St. john and believe.

Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, just a stone's throw from the Aloft Philadelphia Downtown hotel, lies the stunning Arch Street United Methodist Church. This historic church has roots that date back to 1865 when it gained national prominence after its bishop delivered a poignant eulogy for Abraham Lincoln. The current structure was completed in 1870 and is renowned for its beautiful architecture and welcoming atmosphere.

I was homeless 3 times in my life. I'm currently in my third experience with homelessness. In the past, this church was important to me and I plan on talking about that in my autobiography one day. Beautiful experiences in my past with this church. The year 2018. My experiences that year here were magical. It'll be mentioned in my autobiography. But presently in 2023, this church is not good to me as a homeless man and my present experiences with this church will heavily be left out of my book. What I presently experience here as a homeless man with this church is BS. Ladies and gentlemen, if you are homeless or not, whenever you hear the word "FREE," it is sometimes a good idea to run the other way. Because the word "FREE" means you have to put up with BS to get the free item(s) and/or service(s). This church presently gets a "0" because of their treatment of homeless people: Free clothes that are too tight or too loose, rude staff members of all ethnicities, staff members constantly changing one another's words to us and more. 1 homeless person and 1 poor person who's not homeless may slip through the cracks and get what they need and want from the church here. But most homeless people and poor people who aren't homeless won't when visiting here. This church gets a 0. Remember, that 0 is only for their treatment toward those seeking help but not toward the church as a whole. I do presently visit but my views about this church obviously changed.

I came here for case management and my experience with the case manager was different. Her name is Kathy and I can tell she cares about helping people. She listened to my problem and didn't judge me. I was homeless but she helped me get my own place and find a job. She told me that we were on a trip. I was driving and she was a passenger helping me get to wear i want to go. No other case management explained it like that! She really reminded me that I am strong. She won't see this but thank you for helping me get my life back.

It appears they refuse to do any kind of exterior renovations to the church building’s exterior, which is an incredible architectural asset to the surrounding community. There has been scaffolding around the base which is now falling apart for at least a decade. They recently put netting around the spire presumably to catch falling debris. They also play incredibly loud outdoor music that can be heard by those of us live nearby. Arch St Methodist seems to have total disregard for the safety and well being of their neighbors. Prove me wrong.
Bryan R — Google review
It grieves me to give this group of people (it is not a church as they teach opinions and reject the clear teaching of scripture ) zero stars . If they are on the right side of a moral issue (as they are in reaching out to the poor ), it is purely an accident. Their pastor is an unrepentant heretic , a blind person leading the blind . They are more accurately defined as the most liberal arm of the democratic party . The Jesus they talk about is an idol of their imagination . Go to Tenth Presbyterian just a few blocks away and you will see (by God's grace) what a true church of Jesus Christ looks like. I have been praying for the repentance of Mr.Hynicka since I saw him denying the clear teaching of scripture several months ago on 60 minutes.

Came without an appointment and was so kindly welcomed to visit after asking and was shown the special items of their collection by both the kind Secretary who then called the Rabbi. He kindly took me around pointing out the amazing history, items and places of importance in the shul. Then was honored to meet the elder Rabbi Gabbai who was so welcoming and kind. Today we visited this church in Philadelphia as it was recommended by a close friend for its spiritual and serene experience. The church and the chapel in the basement were breathtaking. It was so peaceful and one could feel the presence of the supreme. We walked in the rosary garden and said the rosary. Such a novel concept. We stayed and participated in the noon mass too. It was beautiful. It’s a bummer that the gift shop isn’t open on the weekends, so visitors from far will lose out on purchasing souvenirs and holy paraphernalia. Overall, a MUST visit catholic church in the area.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal is a hidden gem in Philadelphia for Catholics. It's huge and nothing like the original shrine in Paris, but it's just as beautiful and serene. When I visited, there was construction and renovation work happening, but it didn’t take away from the experience. If anything, it gave me hope that these efforts will help preserve the beauty of the shrine and make it even more special. The side altar where the image of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is placed has a quiet sacredness to it. There is a deep sense of peace when you spend time there. I was also moved to see a replica of the chair where Mary sat during her apparition to St. Catherine Labouré in France. Whether you’re visiting to pray, reflect, or simply enjoy a moment of calm, this basilica offers a truly meaningful and spiritual experience.

The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia, a Unitarian Universalist congregation situated on Chestnut Street, is not only a place of worship but also serves as a regional Community Center hosting various activities. The church building, completed in 1886, boasts an impressive history and features beautiful paintings and stained glass windows. While the space may seem minimal inside, it comes alive during events such as concerts. The venue's basement hosts shows and provides an intimate setting for performances.
I just went to my first concert here in the sanctuary. I definitely will be back. It was an awesome experience.
Scot P — Google review
Great little place! The venue outside was a nice-looking church with messages on it of peace and blm. The showroom was small, tight, and rather hot. They did attempt some ac by way of ceiling fans and a larger fan blowing cold air from somewhere else next to stage right, so there was that. The bands were awesome and the crowd was very active. The crowd nearly filled the room completely! I would recommend going to this venue at least once. My only issue is that some of the equipment from the stage is very old and a little dirty, and there are no bathrooms either.
Willi P — Google review
Rating the basement venue where concerts are held. I wish I could like this venue bc it seems to be iconic for punk shows, but this is my least favorite venue. No show lighting and no air conditioning. We were all sweating and breathing is uncomfortable. Weak ceiling fans and one is completely broken. The sound cut out multiple times during the show. There's also no bar obviously, but that's okay—it is nice that the venue is BYOB. Bathrooms are well kept. Parking is difficult if you're figuring it out for the first time. I recommend the lot on the corner of Market and S 22nd (entrance on Market). It would be nice if the church could include info about parking on their website for events other than for exclusive church goers

The Church of the Holy Trinity, an Episcopal church situated on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, holds great historical significance. This historically significant church is definitely worth a visit. Tours are available. Check the website. The stain glass windows are spectacular. The Christmas carol, "O Little Town of Bethlehem," was composed here by a former pastor. You can see the score in the office in the rear.

Love this church! A beautiful, historic building with great stories: Phillips Brooks, an early rector, wrote "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and also preached the sermon when President Lincoln's funeral train came to Philadelphia. Went here for the PVOP concert for Matthew Shepard. The space is gorgeous and well maintained. It is both welcoming and gives you a glimpse into its tradition.
Eric B — Google review
Beautiful space, but don’t bother being late. Some young girls stand at the glass doors forbidding you from going in for at least ten minutes or more. They claimed this is what they were paid for. I find it sad that rather than quickly accommodate (the swinging glass door was noiseless after all) they just kept repeating that this is what they had to do. We’re here to support art! They didn’t seem to understand that there wouldn’t be a natural pause in the music when I explained to them the nature of the concert. So I only caught the tail end (last 10 minutes) of a beautiful concert, and it was the best 10 minutes of my life. I hope in the future there is more compassion instead of rule following as I was already anxious about being late and felt bad that I missed so much of what I paid for. I wept once I was let in, finally able to enjoy what I came for. I regret I probably won’t come back again because parking was an absolute nightmare and I had to pay $26 for an hour of only watching 10 minutes of the concert I came for. If it wasn’t this Grammy winning choir, I’d say it wouldn’t have been worth my time, effort or money. But for the Crossing, anything!

With my utmost honest opinion, the service was really engaging and Pastor Gardner and some of the choir was really warmth, friendly, and welcoming. Being very unknown to this church and my first time there at this denomination , I introduce myself as not being from the Philadelphia area and honestly the pastor did preach about acceptance and in my next visit I do hope that some staff really do follow through with it. I really hope for a more open and accepting atmosphere. It could only happen if the members have open arms.

A beautiful, acoustically lush venue for choral or chamber music. Padded pews for seating, no dedicated parking, sightlines could be better, no theatrical lighting, needs more exits at concert's end, but wow, what a feast for eyes and ears!

Visitors appreciate its significance as a memorial for those who lost their lives on the Dorchester and commend its dedicated staff for their efficient service.
My wife’s uncle lost his life on the Dorchester so seeing this memorial and finding his name had a very similar affect on me as the Vietnam wall in DC.

Lovely historic chapel on the Navy Yard grounds. The history of the Four Chaplains is inspiring in this multi-denominational church, which was originally on Temple University's campus. The new location houses an historic Navy stained glass picture above the alter. It is open to the public.

Beautiful service for my aunt who died recently. It's a family church and they preach GOD up in there 😆 AMEN!!!. If you need deliverance or someone to talk to it's the place for it. Their singing was incredible and their love was outstanding. I wish my Aunt was standing there to see it. I know she would've been in awe seeing the turn out and support. It is a really big church

I grew up going to this church ever since I was a child for about 10-15 years. I’ve been around for pastor Benjamin smith and Pastor Spaulding. I’m 28 haven’t been in a few years and trying go back with my mema (she introduced me and always took me every Sunday) she has cancer and this church always uplifts her spirit. We both need it. Pray for her energy to get up so we can go please

Elaine just gave me a Lyft…and a Spiritual Lift! She Prayed the Word. I’m in such awe of how inspiring she was and been through so much and still had the strength for my weary soul…Psalm 91 couldn’t be a better verse to which she gave as we shared testimonies. 2001 Lehigh Avenue in now in my Thoughts, Prayers and Meditation. Hoping to soon visit because this woman spoke very highly of this Church. Amen

St. Monica Roman Catholic Church was established in the late 19th century by Father Owen P. McManus, and it has since become a devout and thriving parish in the southern part of Philadelphia. The church is known for its beautiful architecture, artwork, and serene atmosphere during Roman Catholic masses. Additionally, the Early Learning Center associated with the church provides a positive experience for children through engaging activities like yoga classes and Italian language lessons to prepare them for success in school.
Very devout parish and a beautiful church! From the architecture and artwork, you can tell this church has been here a very long time. Good to see these parishes not just surviving, but thriving! If there is any "complaint," weekday Masses are held in the lower level, but I did not see any indication of this anywhere on the grounds or website. Morning rosary is offered after Mass on weekdays.

I usually don't post reviews but today I must share my experience the church is a great place and some people are welcoming not all, the Ushers need more training on respect and how to communicate properly if a person doesn't want to sit down then you should not say to them in a demanding way we're not asking you to sit down we're telling you to sit down here's my thing if a person is not in the aisles and/or in the way causes a scene or not they are grown men and women you don't demand nothing if the person doesn't want to sit down and they way to stand up on the wall or by the door then leave them alone, secondly last I check unless your having a processional you can exit out of any door you don't tell people you can't exit the same door they came in on when entering and exiting the sanctuary then only thing a person can not do is go down the aisle when the rope is up they have to use the side aisles this does not apply to the doors I had no issue with the female Ushers it is the male usher that is unprofessional and did not display Christian couresty if I was a member I would leave and find a new church because how I was raised that was unacceptable the Ushers are the first person that usually greets you and the first impression is always the lasting impression this is why the church is struggling to maintain membership we must always show Christian courtesy and respect to everyone it is my prayer that the Ushers will get the proper training on how to conduct themselves more respectfully my suggestion is to take a page out of the Pennsylvania Baptist Ushers Brotherhood a person should never experience what I did today.

When I first attended Zion, it's was a little slow, but through out the years I fail in love with the pleasure of the church. Vary old historical civil rights kind of vibe. I fail in love with the teachings of pastor Harrison, the motivation to move on and forward in life. Growing up in the slum of north Philadelphia I didn't no that young brothers like pastor Harrison existed , or sisters at that. My heart wasn't set on college or school I was fighting demons that I thought only men could cure. I have never seen a young brother so beautiful. I wanted to experience the life of him and people like him, I had to do better. I never knew God ,the holy and the body of Christ could be so beautifully wrapped up in a human. Doctor Harrison is an trend setter for young folks our age and younger folks to follow and for older folks to still believe in Jesus Christ and that he will be there to come get us. Pastor Harrison is definitely (rev.) Sullivan's hope. I no he wants to travel and spread the gospel all over the world and I wanna be selfis but he is a star to the eye and a bird 🐦 to the ear. He and Zion are truly blessings. I hope pastor Harrison stay forever so we can continue to see hope and keep learning. The time for opportunity is always right now.

I had the pleasure of visiting your church 40 years ago when you were a part of hosting IAOHRA ‘83. Your distinguished spiritual leader, Dr. A. Leon Sullivan, was an influential Christian man who left an indelible print on many global human rights advocates and workers, which included me (a multigenerational Black Canadian). We subsequently invited him to Halifax, Nova Scotia. To this day I am grateful for his agreement to come and share. His philosophy of inclusion in hiring policies and self sufficiency still resounds. Truly he was a trailblazer. Sincerely, Dr. Carolyn G. Thomas, (Retired) Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission

St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 256 S 8th St. in downtown Philadelphia, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1922. Originally known as the Greek Orthodox Kathedrikos of St. George, it was established to meet the needs of the growing Greek Orthodox community in the city and acquired the old St. Andrews church, renaming it after Saint George.
Beautiful historic church. Toured it during Greek Festival June 1, 2023. I want to go back to the Good Friday service. The Madonna is decorated with flowers and paraded around historic district in Philadelphia.

I have been chasing down my ancestry in Philadelphia on an off an on process. Well I am at it again. I would attend church services at St George with my grandmother Bessie Soutes when I was a youngster around 1950. When I went to church with her she made sure I went to Sunday School. She would always introduce me the the priest who would dutifully pinch my cheek. My grandmother would make the communion bread and we would carry it in tote bags from the suburbs in Delaware County by bus and two trolly cars. It was customary for grandmom to buy me a pretzel on the corner of 9th and Locust in the warmer days and then roasted Chestnuts in the cold months. My grandmom would sit in the first pew and recite the liturgy along with the priest. It was always a special time when going to church at St George with grandmom. My parents were married at St George as was my cousin Mary. I was best man at her wedding and Nouno (god father) to her first born what happy days and fond memories. When she came to this country from Greece grandmom lived at 244 S 9 th St. which is just around the corner from St George.

Metro Church in Philadelphia is a vibrant community that truly embodies the essence of Christ-centered living. For those seeking a supportive environment, especially as they embark on new life journeys like starting a family, Metro offers an abundance of love and encouragement. With biblically rooted sermons that resonate deeply, this church goes beyond just Sunday services; it fosters growth through various avenues such as Gospel-centered worship and engaging community groups throughout the week.
When my husband and I first walked through Metro's doors 1.5 years ago at the invitation of a friend, we had very little church background and were skeptical non-believers. Yet from the beginning, it was clear that Metro wasn’t just a place to attend on Sundays—it was a community where people genuinely care for one another and desire to walk together in faith. Soon after, we visited a community group (shoutout to Wednesday East Falls), which became a regular place to meet others from different backgrounds, ask questions, and discuss how the gospel can apply to everyday life. The church's Gospel Foundations class was also incredibly well-taught, giving me a deeper understanding of God’s Word and allowing me to wrestle with how freedom in Christ impacts every aspect of life. Because of this church, I encountered the living God and in His grace, came to faith. If you are searching for a place to explore Christianity, deepen your faith, or simply experience the love of Christ through His people, Metro is a place where you'll be welcome, just as we were!
Stacy K — Google review
Metro is a place where the Gospel isn’t just preached about on Sundays—it’s lived out every day in real, genuine community. It’s where I came to faith, and I’ve seen so many others find/rediscover their faith in Christ here too. From the first time I walked in, I felt at home. There’s something about the way people welcome you that reflects the love and grace of Jesus in a real way. If you’re looking for a church that’s rooted in truth, community, and the love of Christ, Metro is a great place to start!
Adzira H — Google review
I first visited Metro Church in the fall of 2019 after my previous pastor recommended it. Initially, I was nervous about attending a new church where I didn’t know anyone, but that fear quickly faded. The congregation was incredibly welcoming, and I felt more comfortable within a few months. Over time, I’ve become more involved with the many resources Metro offers. Their weekly community groups and adult Christian education classes have provided meaningful opportunities to connect with others and deepen my faith. I’ve also appreciated their engaging social media resources, which keep me connected throughout the week (@metroeastfalls on instagram). What stands out the most about Metro Church is the encouragement and mentorship I've received from people in this community, such as the pastor and ministry directors. Their guidance has been instrumental in my spiritual growth. If you’re looking for a church that is welcoming, intentional, and gospel-centered, I highly recommend Metro Church!

I came to Philly four years ago for college, and was instantly welcomed into a family that now, I can’t think about living without. The worship, sermons, events, and community point to Christ and the Good News of His sacrifice and resurrection. Please come to learn more about being known and loved.
Olivia W — Google review
Love this church!! Metro has been a place where I’ve been able to grow in my faith both individually and with others. There are so many ways to learn about God - through the Gospel centered worship services, in community groups throughout the week, and also in other groups like the Women’s Fellowship group. I am so grateful to be at a church that helps me to understand the Gospel and how it shapes (& has changed) my life. Come check us out!
Angela C — Google review
About a year ago, my wife and I were between churches. We were planning to have a baby, so we knew that it was important to find a church that could love and support us as a married couple, and, equally as important, one that could love and support our baby (not included in photos for privacy's sake). It is, of course, important to find a church that has biblically rooted sermons (which Metro has in spades). But the pandemic made it clear that you can get that online. The pandemic also made it clear how important "third places" are ("first places" being our home and "second places" being our workplaces). Though I would classify Metro as a "third place," I hardly rank it as the third most important place in my life. Through community groups, Metro has expanded our "first place," compelling my wife and I to open our home life to other members at the church and, reciprocally, making Philadelphia feel more like home. Through instructive classes and countercultural sermons, Metro is reorienting the way I understand my "second place," my workplace. Sermons on rest, pride, and community have been challenging the way I approach my job. More than just a place to gather on Sunday, Metro Church is a tangible extension of Christ, a life-changing community of people whose hospitality, faith, and tenderness challenges me to invite Jesus into all corners of my life.
Jack S — Google review

Stumbled upon by chance in Philadelphia, St. Clements Church captivated attention with its remarkable facade. Erected in 1859 and finished after a span of three years, this Anglican place of worship suffered the loss of its spire a decade later due to excessive weight on the foundation. Saint Clement's Church is an esteemed Anglo-Catholic congregation that gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places on November 20, 1970.
Beautiful church with one of the most amazing pipe organs I've ever seen. The stained glass will take your breath away. For a private service they also have small chapel. A nice mix of old school and modern. Meaning, the priest has his back to you the entire time and some of the mass is in Latin. A terrific experience.
Hermando M — Google review

Stunning music and beautifully done liturgy. S. Clement's takes seriously the command to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The depth and richness of worship here is such that one can (re)discover something new each time. If you're looking for an experience of the transcendental and holy, this is a good place to start.
Daniel S — Google review
Music is absolutely top notch. However unless you love the pre-Vatican II Catholic Mass, stay home. Utterly unapproachable liturgy (including a priest with his back to the congregation) - this is what I'd expect of a bishops ordination in Rome.

Oh my dear, the goal here is to be more Catholic than Saint Peter's in Rome. This is all about winning a liturgical race. Why doesn't this parish join the new Anglican-Catholic wing of the Catholic Church? Why not? As it stands now, they belong to a Church (in the USA) headed by a woman Bishop, who is more Novus Ordo than the worst Novus Ordo Catholic.

St. Timothy's Episcopal Church is a historic church with a caring congregation that celebrates Christmas Eve services under gas lamps. The church is known for its welcoming atmosphere and its mission to provide social justice in the community.
I like this church! I’ve been looking for a welcoming congregation to fellowships at; I’ve found God’s house on earth, here. Our current interim, Father Gregory is the model of a intelligent, compassionate, and competent Christian leader. His leadership has been inspiring for me, as for others, here. I’ve grown, not only in faith and trust; I’ve grown into a person who understands the Lord’s love and presence.

Nestled in the charming Society Hill neighborhood, the Society Hill Synagogue is a remarkable site that showcases a unique blend of history and community spirit. Originally a 19th-century Baptist church, this beautiful building has been transformed into a vibrant space for Jewish worship. The surrounding area offers delightful cobblestone streets perfect for leisurely strolls, where you can discover local gems like parks and schools.
We've sent my daughter to Playschool since she was 18 months old and we absolutely love it. My daughter has an amazing time with her friends and the teachers are loving and supportive. They prioritize play and have lots of activities for the kids, including Soccer Shots, ZoomDance, and music. Communication with the Director and her teachers is clear and frequent, and the class sizes are small. We are thrilled to send my daughter to place where we can fully trust the staff to care for her as we would.
Kellie O — Google review
The preschool has been a great place for my daughter to learn and become comfortable around other children and teachers. It’s also great that I can send her part time and half days which so many places don’t allow. Would recommend to anyone who is thinking about a preschool for their little ones.
Marc E — Google review
After touring many daycares / schools in the area, SHS Playshool clearly stood out. The staff and teachers were wonderful in helping my little one feel comfortable and safe in her new environment. The school itself is so clean and spacious and located on a pretty block of society hill. It’s rare to find such a big indoor play space and 2 outdoor play areas. Great for developing those gross motor skills! The director, Megan, is so responsive and the teachers are also very accessible. Communication has never been an issue and as first time parents, this was an important criteria for us. I even appreciate the smaller things like being able to park our stroller inside the school so we don’t have to lug it back and forth, and being able to drop off our little one inside her class (vs outside the school). Overall, it’s such a warm and welcoming community and I have so much peace of mind knowing she’s in safe and loving hands.
Parinaz G — Google review

This synagogue is warm, supportive and inclusive. It's a wonderful mix of old and new. My three children loved the preschool. It is a safe, warm environment that encourages creativity. The teachers are fabulous. There is a wonderful mix of neighborhood children and Jewish children. My children now are older and are in the Hebrew School Program. All I can say is that I love what they are learning. It is such a nurturing environment. I feel lucky to be a part of this community.

Grace United Methodist Church, located in Harrisburg, is not only a stunning architectural gem but also holds historical significance as a key factor in the city's status as the capital of Pennsylvania. The church has been a spiritual home for many for over three decades and has seen significant growth in its congregation. Each preacher at Grace United Methodist Church has effectively delivered the message of the Gospel, making it relevant and understandable to all. Under the leadership of Rev.
This has been my home church for more than thirty years! Over that time, I have grown so much in my spiritual walk! Each preacher that has been there over years, has had or have the ability to preach the Gospel, the Good News of my Savior, in a way that is relevant for understanding. Our current pastor, Rev. Steven Michael Pittman continues that tradition, with youth, exuberance, and authority. Our charge is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The Wesley AME Zion Church is a friendly and family oriented spiritual church. It has a lot of history and is frequented by many people.
I was a patient down the street at PowerBack Rehab, everyday my personal goal was to get to the church on the corner. I was in Rehab 3 weeks and it took me a week to roll my wheelchair to Wesley AME. Each day at least 3-4 times a day I would roll up the street and sit in front of the church, pray, reflect, greet people, talk & even the pastor and I would have conversations before he went in to work. I would like to thank the pastors & members of Wesley AME Zion for allowing me & other residents and staff of PowerBack to have a place of peace and quiet and to decompress (even if that is smoking, since if they are seen they could be reprimanded). Their jobs are extremely challenging & sometimes the just need to "get away ". May God continue to bless the pastors & congregation of on a truly wonderful church.
