Mexican restaurant
Bar
Blue Corn Restaurant and Bar is a vibrant Mexican eatery located in the Italian market. The restaurant offers traditional Mexican dishes with unique twists, such as delicate quesadillas made with Oaxaca cheese and house-made corn tortillas. The menu features standout items like tampiquena, a marinated filet mignon served with mole sauce, as well as harder-to-find options like nopales and beef cheeks.
Went there tonight for dinner with my son. Got the taco plate with a margarita. So good. Sauces are great. Service was good and quick. I want to go again.

I’ve only been during the day so haven’t been in for dinner service but would say this easily is one of best Mexican spots in city tho I have not been to los gallos yet lol, this time was here before trip out west on Tuesday and started with $12 Bloody Mary which is a bit slim nothing fancy lol. Against my gut feeling I went with the $15 small seafood soup which had good broth. Wanted to get fish tacos but instead switched to al pastor which was really good, The chips and salsa always good to start and if they have it the chipotle soup and shrimp ceviche are both tasty! Service is lax but I’m never in rush when here lol. Nice staff and excellent food but need to come back for happy hour and dinner tho idk what they have for happy hour menu not online lol.

A gem among many Mexican restaurants in the area. It was very lovely to sit outside in the summer. I got the pulpo en su tinta (octopus in its ink) which is served with poblano peppers, rice and slices of bread. The octopus was very tender and not chewy with briny flavor reminding me of the ocean, the poblano peppers were soft and well cooked and absorbed the flavor of the octopus. The rice and bread both soaked in the sauce very well. I cannot wait to try other dishes!

I’ve lived in the area for 6 years and had always wanted to try Blue Corn because it’s always so busy. I finally made it, and it was absolutely worth the wait! We arrived right before closing, and despite the late hour, they seated us with a warm welcome and were incredibly patient and kind. They even encouraged us to take our time choosing appetizers and entrees, which was much appreciated. Everything we tried was phenomenal and authentic, from the Jamaica and Tamarindo drinks (both so refreshing and homemade) to the blue corn chips and guacamole. The tacos were incredible, especially the Puerto Vallarta tacos with shrimp, crab, and fish, the pastor tacos, and the mahi mahi special. Every dish was a hit. I highly recommend visiting when you’re in the Italian Market, and I can’t wait to return!

We went to Blue Corn for a wonderful lunch on a Saturday. Parked in our regular spot on Washington Street and walked down 9th. We went in and were seated right away at a hightop by the bar. Our waiter came and took our drink order right away. When the drinks came to the table he told us several specials that were available. We ordered nachos with chicken to start. They were loaded with chicken and cheese over thick house made nacho chips. I got the beef tongue tacos (with rice and beans) and my wife got the soft shell crab tacos. This was my foody daughter's recommendation who was also there with us. She comes on the regular. Definitely will add Blue corn on my list to visit again. Authentic Mexican food in the heart of South Philly.

Amazing!! We loved every bite. Highly recommend you go and try Huarache Gratin which has cactus (pictured furthest left in first pic) in it. We were blown away by how much we liked it!! Of course the chilaquiles were deliciouso and the taco my partner ordered was incredible. 10/10 want to come back but be warned they’re cash only (atm onsite) so bring money since you’ll want to try everything.
Jordan H — Google review
My new favorite taco spot ! The flavors are unique and the food is executed wonderfully. There are plenty of meat options as well as fresh seafood dishes. The staff are extremely professional and attentive. This is my go to spot for date night tacos. You will not be disappointed! Be advised cash only but they do have an ATM on site.

Great experience - I went for an early lunch so I didn't have a margarita but I've heard they're delicious! The food and service was great! Definitely recommend going. Tip: Blue Corn is cash only.

South Philly Barbacoa is a renowned Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia's Italian Market, known for its traditional slow-cooked barbacoa-style tacos and toppings. The eatery has gained widespread acclaim, with Chef Cristina Martinez's lamb barbacoa version being particularly beloved. Featured on 'Chef's Table,' the restaurant has garnered attention not only for its juicy tacos but also for Martinez's advocacy for immigrants' rights and food security. Open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 a.m.
I found out about this place on Netflix and wanted to check it out for myself. We all went down for dinner and each had a plate of tacos and a horchata. Everything was delicious! This place is truly a treat. The chef/owner was friendly and accommodating and could not have been a better hostess. We were able to pay with card by ordering on their new computerized menu, instead of cash only - which undoubtedly makes it easier for the staff. We did miss the traditional table service as the girl in the front was busy with take-away customers and wasn’t really available to answer questions (for example, you can only get three tacos with one type of meat and you can only order the Aqua Fresca even though the fridges have four different homemade drinks). Still, the food is outstanding and once we were seated the service was excellent. This place is definitely worth a visit for an authentic taste of Mexico in South Philly.

Really great tacos! The classic barbacoa is so tender and delicious, especially with all the salsas, pickled, and fresh veggies that are self-serve. But the pancita was a true standout- don’t be scared by the offal! I could eat those every day! And the tortillas are so fresh, soft, and delicious, They also now have a self- service kiosk where you can pay by credit card now, otherwise it’s cash/venmo if you order at the counter. Also, get the consome!

First we heard about it from friends, than we watched the Netflix documentary and later we decided to check it out and we were surprised by been hosted by chef Cristina!! No reservations and no waiting line when we got there on a Sunday for lunch. We had the best experience in a long time and the lamb tacos were amazing. Perfect food, ambience and great service. Price very reasonable.

Went really early in the morning to eat so didn't get the atmosphere of what it's like packed with people. Obviously ordered the Barbacoa and it was amazing. Love the spice and texture fall apart amazing. Spice it up with the picked veggies and sauces nothing like it. Also chips and guacamole where an instant hit with the wife.

Barbacoa love lives here. These folks preach the gospel and today's sermon is soft, moist and delicious porky goodness. I had mine as a taco and can't wait to return.

This place is a treat. The tacos were the best I have ever had. The meat is lamb and I had the barbacoa and the pancita. Both were delicious, tender, rich and full of flavour in different ways. The tortillas smelled divine from down the block and were so tasty and had the ideal thickness and chew imho. The toppings and pickles (salsa mia, cactus 🤌🏻🤌🏻) were a treat - and the hotchata was like no other I have had- the cinnamon was beyond ordinary.

Arrived at 18.15pm to find we were the only ones in the restaurant. Used the self-serve as we didn’t have cash. Ordered tacos and quesadilla ($12 and $15) and ordered X2 beers ($6 each). Sat down and selected table serve. Tip provided for this when ordering. Servers x2, quite young but friendly enough but also appeared to not care or know what was going on. We had to go up and ask for our beers after 10 minutes, again, only ones in the restaurant. We were then told they did not have quesadillas so we ordered more tacos, no offer of a refund for the price difference. The female server then called us over to collect our food. We asked for some guacamole or salsa to be told they didn’t have any? The food was very plain, not flavoursome and very sad looking. We paid $60 in total and absolutely not worth it and left most of it, tasteless and greasy.

I never ever had a chance to get to the original location of South Philly Barbacoa. I just remember they’re always being a line out the door on the weekends about a year and a half ago from what I understand they moved to the new location just up the street And this is quite a large location, taking 2 storefronts as you will see in the pictures. I took a chance, not knowing whether they had a vegan option and they actually did clearly marked the menu. The people here were very nice. Pamela was a big help. It does come with steamed root vegetables and it says green in a chili sauce, I know there was some carrot on there. There was also some cabbage, string bean, yellow bell pepper, it really unique sauce Roja that had chocolate infused into it and made for a really different taste. It was very good quite filling, they have a small condiment station or bar whatever you would like to call it on the inside that you can get diced onions, shredded cilantro, pickled jalapeños, limes there may have been a red chili sauce, I took limes, cilantro, onions, and pickled jalapeños. I paid nine dollars for two you have three for $13 very healthy portions. Four out of five stars for the food as fair. While it was different than anything I have ever had. And this is just my opinion. It’s not something that I would have on a regular basis. There were a few places which are unique including taco Ramen that has a tempura batter vegetable taco that’s incredible and I actually crave. I’m wondering if the menu changes if they will eventually incorporate, maybe a few more vegan options , With actual vegan meat, whether it be tofu or seitan, I’ve seen people do wonders with seitan, like Loco Pez does amazing things with it. I’d like to add This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, they have a nice bar area. Area outside is really nice and well done. Everyone was very nice and accommodating two things one not related to the restaurant is parking can always be challenging down here. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you have to drive around for a little bit, I had to today. The other thing is they take cash and Venmo and on site they have a ATM so just be prepared. That being said this place has a fantastic reputation for serving amazing tacos, quesadillas, and burritos that have meat products so i would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a authentic freshly Mexican made meal.

Cantina la Martina, located in Kensington and led by chef Dionicio Jimenez, is a top contender among Philadelphia's new Mexican dining options. The restaurant boasts a spacious backyard that serves as a festive oasis for diners. With its picnic tables and warm gravel, the outdoor area provides an inviting atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals. Additionally, the restaurant offers Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken, making it a versatile dining destination with a diverse menu.
Came to this restaurant for the very first time with my family. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a very great vibe. Honestly can say all the staff were super friendly, attentive, and very helpful. Both the food and drinks were amazing in presentation and taste!! Definitely a 100/10 experience and will for sure come back again!

I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews etc. My partner and I grew up in Texas and lived in Mexico briefly so we know our way around Mexican food. Let's start with the positives: 1. The margarita was really good and you can definitely taste the alcohol. The aqua frescas were super tasty and reminded us of Mexico. 2. The staff was nice and we got great service. Now to the negatives (the food). Overall everything seemed dry and reheated poorly. Definitely not fresh as you would expect. 1. The Pastor Negro tacos were so incredibly dry the meat was difficult to chew. The freshly made tortillas cracked apart as we picked them up. 2. The tamales appetizer we got was also incredibly dry. The masa in them wasn't as moist as you would expect. It honestly seemed like they heated them up in the microwave. 3. We ordered the barbacoa special of the night for our other main course. For $50 I expected it to blow my socks off. Instead the meat was chewy and the consume lacked flavor. I don't think any salt had been added to it. The tortillas had clearly been reheated and crumbled as you folded them. To be fair they stated that the tortillas were "handmade" and not fresh. I can assure you no one was in the kitchen making the tortillas to order like you would expect a restaurant like this. It's possible the main chef was out that evening but shouldn't be an excuse on a Saturday night to have sub-par food. It wasn't busy and didn't seem to be rushing around filling online orders. I'd like to give them another shot as our experience seems so different than most peoples.

Loved the food here for brunch. Highly recommend the house guacamole. They also do a taco box which I also highly recommend, great variety and so tasty but I think that’s only for takeout. We also got this French toast thing, I forgot what it was called, but it was enormous and delicious, very crunchy with a layer of sugar on top - definitely want to share! Biggest qualm is the location, it was pretty sketchy and I don’t think I would come here for dinner. Maybe we were being dramatic but my husband felt like he need to pop outside every couple minutes to make sure our car wasn’t being broken into.
Lilly J — Google review
After ordering delicious Togo food here all winter, we started dining outside during the summer and WOW! The atmosphere of dining outside makes me feel like I am half a world away from Pennsylvania on vacation…the music, the smells of food, the decor and the safe enclosed dining area is just like a quaint, fun vacation. My husband and I ate goat barbacoa here for the first time tonight and it was phenomenal! The ceviche is incredible. The margaritas are horchata are 👌🏼. The Kensington area may be intimidating for some, but as long as you are dining inside of the Cantina, you are on a safe vacation 😎 the owners are lovely people too! Do yourself a favor and eat some good food here!

I have no clue what I ate but it was the most fantastic authentic Mexican my soul has ever desired. More than the meal was the wonderful tour from the owner of the authentic fire pits complete with a personal garden tour and pets from the resident rabbit in the garden. I've never had a more personal dining experience, absolutely will return again.

We came to Cantina La Martina for the final day of their Cocina de Humo experience for $50 and it was wonderful! I thought it would be an in and out experience but instead, our group stayed for hours chatting with each other and one of the owners. The drinks were great and we loved our food, especially the guacamole, octopus and elote. Cocino de Humo is great because it includes guac, sides, 3 choices from the grill, AND dessert. Maria took the time to explain all of the items and it’s significance to Mexican cuisine. The sauces & pickled veggies were made in-house and we loved that special touch. It felt like visiting a family member’s house, we were also gifted vegetables from the garden and it was so sweet, we made a veggie salad once we returned home! 10/10 for Cantina La Martina, I can’t wait to go back!

I recently visited this establishment with a party of two at 3pm, and while I enjoyed the ambiance and hospitality. it was noted that the restaurant was relatively empty. As we intended to order a variety of dishes to share, sample, and possibly take home, I kindly requested to be relocated to a larger table to accommodate our dining preferences. However, the hostess informed us that due to our party size, we were only able to be seated at a smaller table. I understand the operational constraints regarding seating arrangements for smaller parties. However, considering the nature of our dining experience and the desire to explore a range of menu items, a more spacious table would have greatly enhanced our overall visit. For that sole reason we decided to visit another restaurant to explore
Keyon P — Google review
First time visiting, so figured I'd take advantage of the happy hour to see what the place was like, and it didn't disappoint in any manner. Atmosphere and energy was welcoming. Service was fantastic and the food was great. Oh yea, I'm not typically a margarita person, but as they say, when in Rome so I went for spice along with my flavored margarita, and it was the perfect combo and heat and sweet. Tried just about everything on the happy hour menu and got one shot, and the bill for 2 was beyond reasonable. I'd highly recommend anyone who is in search of an authentic Mexican experience to visit Cantina.

Juana Tamale is a delightful culinary gem that has transitioned from a beloved pop-up to a permanent fixture in East Passyunk, Philadelphia. Known for its mouthwatering offerings, this vibrant eatery serves up an impressive menu filled with Mexican comfort food favorites. Diners can indulge in the famous queso birria ramen, which features tender stewed beef and gooey cheese swimming in rich consomme—perfectly slurpable!
Just wow! I’m in Port Richmond but was in South Philly for some errands my husband and I decided to give this place a try. He is obsessed with birria and they have a vegan version so I can finally experience it as well! We picked it up and brought it home… It was amazing!! The Vegan Birria filling isn’t a fake meat, I don’t exactly what it’s made of but I definitely saw black beans and chickpeas and maybe potatoes. I could only eat one, they were so hearty and filling. The consommé was so rich and flavorful. So much depth that I feel is usually missing in vegan broths/stews. My husband loved his birria as per usual. When he was ranking it for me he put it juuuuust under Loco Pez (his fav) because he likes a little more cheese. He hates driving in center city/south Philly but he said he would make the drive for Juana anytime I want it. We will definitely be back to try more! Picture attached is the vegan!

I cannot say enough good things about this place! The food is beyond amazing, the establishment is pristine, and the staff is extremely friendly, and welcoming. They’re also kid friendly with some toys, games and books available as well as candies on the table. You can customize your own coffee with their little coffee station, probably every flavor jarritos, and delicious sweet treats (especially the churro) if all of that wasn’t enough the atmosphere is so fun and eclectic there’s a new sticker or art piece to look at, at every turn. I HIGHLY recommend!!

Arrive hungry because after your first bite you won’t be able to stop. This SoCal inspired Mexican restaurant is to die for. The owner and staff are all friendly and enjoy giving recommendations; I highly recommend the nachos. The tortilla chips are homemade and seasoned and as I write this I’m salivating thinking of them. Have taken several friends and they have all asked to go back when they are in the city.

This is an absolute GEM of a place. I’ve lived in Philly for a decade and this is hands down one of my favorite places ever. From the ambience, the carefully thought out design inside (even the bathroom is cool) and most importantly the food is to die for. I get the vegan nachos with seitan and vegan birria and it’s literally heaven every single bite. I can’t say enough. A great neighborhood spot. Be careful tho….you will get hooked and won’t be able to stop thinking of this place

Three for a first time, late lunch 8/202/2. Fantastic. So good. Love this place. Great friendly service by the cashier/hostess/waitress. Birria Tacos, Street Corn Fritters, Carne Asada Tacos today's special. Fantastic. We'll be back. Love the velvet paintings and the history lesson. Thank you for a great experience! Cool vibrant decor. Hot sauces a plenty.(20+?). Salsa Verde excellent. Tortilla chips home made - spiced- salted also excellent.

5 stars all around for theme and decorations!!! Affordable prices and a reasonable variety of food. I love that they have a 20% student discount. The tacos were amazing in my opinion. The meat had flavor and was juicy. I liked how they came with sauce and lime. I think the chicken quesadilla was bland, but it was large.

I’ve been a few times and the best thing I’ve had is the birria tacos and birria ramen, the least favorite thing is the Panelle Sandwich vegan meatball special where the bread was too big and off…nice staff and I love the hot sauce bar to choose from lol…it is nice that they have dollar dog specials for Phillies games and a happy hour menu for $2 street tacos beef and pork were small but good, $5 queso/chips and $6 burrito, the $11 wings were good with Persian green sauce that was nice! I haven’t had chance to come in early enough for the brunch/lunch menu and still have to try that and fhe tamales, always good tunes playing, I’d say it isn’t cheap but what is nowadays lol when in doubt go birria tacos to start! Fyi they do add a 10% gratuity even if you’re dining in either way so heads up for no surprise lol which while not fan of I’m okay to support local when/if I’m not broke lol

'"The Big Juan" rivals itself to a Big Mac™️ and exceeds what the latter can do while at a similar price. The bun is sesame seeded, is bigger and comes with a superior beef patty and (cheddar?) cheese. Plus chopped tomatoes and onions. It's a winner. Another winner is the Taquitos de Papas. {Potato!} They are hand-sized and come with a cream, sprinkled with cheese and are topped with red and green salsa and romaine lettuce. They are best when hot and the tortillas are crunchy! Last is the Side Salad which has some of the ingredients above and comes in a container along with a house-made dressing that's in a container as well. The food and the prices here are hard to beat, especially given the portion sizes. Give these worthy sleeper items a try. I've posted photos which are at the end of my Juana Tamale photos. Update October 5, 2024: The Breakfast Torta is a nice piece of work! Quite impressed with the hash brown that is crunchy and comes with a touch of salt. The eggs are fresh, you can notice that. I added chicken verde which had "pop" and held up real well as a late night snack. Update July 11, 2024: I've posted new food pics. The descriptions are below because Google isn't allowing me to put the descriptions with the pics. 🤷‍♂️ NACHOS: Cream, refried beans, chopped tomato, jalapeno slices. Comes in a #4 food container. Get the BOGO special. It's like a small football in weight and size. DOLLAR DOGS: All beef. Fried and butterflied for even cooking. Use the in-house ketchup and mustard if possible, not the packets. CHILI DOG. As above in part. The chili is all beef and wasn't thin or greasy. Can come with cheese whiz. STREET TACOS. This is meant to be eaten standing up or on the go. The two corn tortillas soak up the braised pork and beef birra juices. (That's what I got.) Pair the pork with the pepper sauce. Pair the beef with the La Costena salsa negra of the Valentina "extra spicy" (not), hot sauce. Buen provecho! ===== Update January 19, 2024: Yo! The Homie Meal Menu is FIRE! (Typically, 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday & Friday.) The HOT DOGS do not disappoint. They're fried and the skin has SNAP. They also have a slight spice like a red-hot. The bun is heated -- toasted on the outside yet soft on the inside. I added ketchup, sweet & hot chili sauce, and the supplied white onions and tomatoes that comes filled in a plenty large container. The bread holds up here, the hinge didn't break on the way home using the subway. GET THIS. GET THE CHOPPED BEEF BURRITO. The tortilla looks freshly made instead of a factory item. The beef is quality, no gristle. It comes with veggies and has a nice "pop" with the pickled peppers that's not overwhelming to many palates. Now add one of the many available side sauces by the counter and you're GOOD TO GO. Oh, by the way. The burrito weighs about as much as a small dumbbell and there is a LOT OF VALUE HERE. Juana Tamale and Jennifer Zavala continue to impress. DO NOT MISS OUT, THIS WON'T WRECK YOUR WALLET. ===== (November, 2022:) With a day off, I decided to go on Veterans Day and wound up getting free churros. Get the CHURROS. Crispy on the outside, warm jelly and cream on the inside w/ sugar-cinnamon dusting. It rivals authentic Mexico. The BIRRA TACOS are bangin' and they are pesao (heavy) on the tasty beef that's somewhat cooked ropa vieja style. They're highly portable as takeout and come with dip, salsa, a roasted pepper and sliced lime. The MEXICAN PIZZA was a hit. The supplied tortillas are freshly made --and in a traditional style. The pizza then gets doused in the above-style beef along with chopped tomatoes, white onions, a bit of refried pinto beans, cheddar, a creama (cream), and a roasted pepper. It deserves a pizza box of its own. 😁 A day later, I'm still eating and going on two meals and two snacks. DO NOT MISS OUT. Ven aquí!

Mexican restaurant
Sor Ynez, a restaurant named after a 17th-century Mexican feminist, is located near Norris Square Park in Philadelphia. The menu offers traditional Mexican dishes with a modern twist, such as Lamb Shank Barbacoa and Birria de Res, as well as vegan options like Eggplant Mixiote. The restaurant focuses on sustainability by incorporating leftover ingredients into their mezcal and tequila cocktails.
Food is fresh and very tasty; the presentation is exceptional. They have freshly ground masa to make homemade tortillas. Lots of gluten-free options. They have an amazing mezcal selection and great cocktails.
Enrique C — Google review
High quality Mexican restaurant with free parking and a large outdoor sitting area (major plus!). I’ve been to Sor Ynez a handful of times and they always have extremely high quality ingredients. I recently came for happy hour after not visiting for a couple of years and was surprised by the change to the birria tacos. They used to have cheese and be on a hard crispy shell, now theyre on a soft taco with salsa verde. The consomme made the soft taco fall apart and get soggy. The meat was seasoned well though. The shrimp tostada was tasty and fresh. The classic margarita was also perfect! Service is next level attentive, everyone was so kind. Overall, I know I’m getting good quality food here but it is very pricey (definitely have to come during happy hour). I think I would still come back with friends in the summer for drinks and happy hour bites in the outdoor area.

Such a hidden gem! We were recommended this place and very pleased that we went! It is basically in the middle of what looks like a warehouse-style building, so we judged a book by the cover and lowered expectations. We were proven wrong. Our service was exceptional, cocktails (included espresso martinis with mezcal...yum!) and entrees were so delicious. I want to go back tonight for dinner!
Jason Z — Google review
Sor Ynez is as advertised--innovative, fresh, sustainable food. Our party of 5 immediately declared the guacamole the best we have had. Our entrees were also delicious--vegan enchiladas, shrimp, beef shoulder. I ordered a refreshing Paloma, and we topped things off with churros, which were light but strong enough to be vehicles for the cinnamon tinged chocolate. Our server was attentive and friendly. We look forward to our next visit!
Steve N — Google review
The birria tacos were really yummy. Not soggy at all as another reviewer said. Really enjoyed it with the salsa verde.
Jeffrey W — Google review
Camera roll photo dump of probably only 5% of the food I’ve had at Sor Ynez. Suffice to say, I’m a regular here. First off, the staff are so lovely. It’s always a great sign when you see the same staff month after month - they seem to genuinely enjoy working there. And the food - so unique and delicious. Whether you go for brunch, dinner, or happy hour, every dish is so thoughtful. They have specials frequently which are always fun to try, and they rotate the menu seasonally. The patio is dog friendly in the warm weather and they sometimes have live music there, which makes a great atmosphere.

Sor Ynez is a hidden gem in Fishtown! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed night out. The food was absolutely delicious—hands down the best carnitas we’ve ever had. Big shoutout to Chloe, who was the sweetest and made our experience even more special!
Natalia P — Google review
The reviews are high here, but there were food options that we got that completely missed the mark. Either lacking flavor or tasting like it was pulled straight from the earth, authentic, possibly, desirable, I'm unsure. It's a nice atmosphere, drinks are nice, might possibly try other options. We got Tlacoyos, queso fresco, shrimp crevice, heritage pork carnitas platter, and strawberry shortcake for desert.

El Vez is a vibrant and trendy Mexican restaurant located in Midtown Village, known for its upscale eats and cocktails. With a colorful and flashy setting, it has been a popular spot for margaritas and guacamole for over 20 years. The restaurant offers a lively environment with fun and energetic decor, including cushy velvet booths and a spinning low-rider bike over the bar.
From the moment you walk in you are greeted warmly. Our server was " Jelly " she was awesome. The food was delicious fast service but not rushed at all. If in Philadelphia I highly recommend this spot if you like Mexican and good drinks.

This place is absolutely fantastic! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that instantly sets the tone for a great night. The food and drinks are nothing short of amazing every dish is bursting with bold, well-balanced flavors, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. Whether you're in the mood for something classic or a creative twist on a favorite, there's something on the menu for everyone. The drinks are just as impressive. Crafted with care and creativity, each cocktail feels thoughtfully made, and they pair perfectly with the vibrant dishes. It’s clear that a lot of attention goes into every part of the menu. The staff here truly goes above and beyond. They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Service is consistently quick and professional, even when the place is packed which it often is, so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The ambiance ties everything together. It’s lively but comfortable, stylish but not stuffy perfect for a casual dinner, date night, or special celebration. I’d recommend this spot a hundred times over. If you’re looking for a place that delivers on food, service, and atmosphere, this is it. A must-visit!

You really can't go wrong with El Vez! Take a look at this amazing feast we had – that 'Mexican Pizza' was just bursting with flavor, thanks to all the fresh toppings and that perfect drizzle. Plus, you can see a little bit of the guacamole in the corner, and let me tell you, it's always a must-order. It's consistently fresh and absolutely delicious. Pair that with their awesome drinks, and you've got yourself a truly unforgettable meal. The place always has such a lively vibe, and the service is fantastic too. If you're hunting for incredible Mexican-inspired food and a fun atmosphere in Philly, El Vez is definitely where you need to be!

Service was great, food even better! The server was even kind enough to give us a side dish on the house. Margaritas were refreshing and hit the spot. We had the tuna ceviche, birria tacos and short rib enchiladas. Would highly recommend them all.

My preferred menu selection is the Mahi tacos, as they are particularly appealing, the other menu items appear equally appetizing, and people seem to be enjoying their meals and beverages. The establishment is more crowded and lively during dinner hours, but it remains a pleasant environment. The staff members are consistently courteous and accommodating.

Yum! Great happy hour. We stopped in for appetizers and drinks before going to a comedy show at the Helium Club. The food was delicious. Wings, queso, plantains (outstanding!). Service was great. The staff is welcoming and attentive.

El rey's restaurant was a fantastic experience. This place was like stepping back in time. The atmosphere is incredible. Friendly staff food was very good. We had chicken enchilada, chicken fajitas, and plantains. They also had a bottled Mexican Coke. The food was good, but I would have guessed that the portions would have been a little beggar would probably be my only knock on the place, but besides that, it was a lot of fun, we enjoyed going and talking. And just simply looking around, the place. It has a lot of old articles and newspapers on the walls, and not to mention it was incredibly cheap for the 2 of us we only spent about $50. Definitely highly recommend checking it out.

It was all delicious!!! The food came quickly and the service was on point. Perfect for a date night. I would definitely come back again!

Very tasty contemporary Mexican with great service. Drinks were delicious and the nachos were a huge winner for us. It was quite loud inside. I’m also a little annoyed that the $5 Photo Booth doesn’t give you countdown and just starts taking photos so we have a very unprepared sequence of photos.
David M — Google review
When we first got there, we were confused whether to sit down or to wait for a server. We were given a very friendly waiter, kind. We looked at other peoples reviews to see what the options were and we went for the Best review which was the quesadilla and the chicken burrito both dishes had a decent flavor. The quesadilla was in a handmade tortilla which made it worth the plate. The chicken pastor burrito was missing Some flavor it needed a bit more savory flavors. I was glad that it came with a dollop guacamole. we tried the drinks, the guava margarita is way too sweet. The Paloma was decent. You can’t go wrong with a classic margarita .we can definitely tell a good Mexican restaurant if we see a lot of Mexican families however, this was not the case. Would say this is more of a trendy spot for the night life scene.

El Rey is a diamond in the rough! The food is incredible, our server Leila was extremely knowledgeable with all items on the menu and made us aware of all the specials. It was easy to have conversation with the family over our wonderful dinner, we highly recommend making this your next date night out!

I've been on a Mexican kick lately and trying some different places. Last week I tried El Vez, this week I came here. The tacos at El Vez were better, the tortillas at El Rey were weirdly thick and chewy, though the flavors were good. I had an insane chile relleno though, and the cocktails are great. The passionfruit marg was straight passionfruit, really tangy. I loved it, and $6 for HH is amazing, although I don't think the drinks were very strong. The barstools are also very comfortable. Usually I'm dying after like an hour and a half and I spent most of the night chilling here. There are some other menu items I'd really like to try so I'll be back.

Amazing coffee. Great food too! Free wifi. The AC is on but on a 98 degree day like today, it still feels a little too hot inside still (which is expected with those temps) - but it was manageable. The coffee and food makes up for this 100%.

This will definitely be my regular spot. I enjoyed the service/atmosphere/service. I had the birria Benedict which was amazing and my partner had the enfrioladas with steak and it was amazing. I also tried their coconut iced latte, that was delightful.

I started to come here for a cafe con chocolate, basically espresso, cinnamon and chocolate. Once I tried it I was hooked! After that experience, let’s try some food, I got myself a fajitas mixta. It’s just a mix of the best things in this world made to perfection. So good I came back 2 days later to have it again, and I live in the other side of the city. I would have licked the hot plate if it wasn’t sizzling. The ingredients are fresh as well, I’m not the only one either, the place always has people in there which is a great sign. The staff is out of this world, to make sure that your needs are met and are super polite. If u stop bye u won’t be disappointed.
Sup_Lick — Google review
Let me be clear. Service and atmosphere were EXCELLENT. (Except the waiter was a little pushy on getting apps and dessert.) No complaints otherwise. Something that rubbed us the wrong way was the many add-on prices on the menu and slight price differences if you pay with a credit card. $60 for a two platters and two drinks is pricey especially considering our meals were more on the basic side. I would probably come back for an appetizer or shared beverage. As a Chicana myself who was raised on chilaquiles, the dish itself look a deconstructed fajita. The huevos rancheros actually look more like chilaquiles themselves. A bit disappointed but somewhat flavorful. The sauce was too runny almost like water. I got the sense that this restaurant caters to a white-American diet especially when I saw balsamic vinegar and cherry tomatoes on their specials.

I’ve been to La Llorna twice now and they’ve been okay experiences. On both occasions I was invited out by a friend who really wanted Mexican food. It’s a small, cozy restaurant with a good number of food and drink options to choose from. My friend didn’t really like what she ordered, it seemed like it was missing something. My order wasn’t too bad but not the greatest. Overall, the service and ambience were great! I just wasn’t thrilled with the taste of the food.

Same-day reservations were easy, and we were seated right away. The passionfruit margaritas were so good, we ordered several. The guacamole was fresh, creamy, and perfectly spicy. Birria tacos were crispy and flavorful with a great cheese pull, while the carne tacos were complemented by a zesty verde salsa and crisp radish pico. The staff was friendly, and we never felt rushed. We’ll definitely be returning!

I visited La Llorona Cantina for a quick dinner. I enjoyed both my meal and service. Their happy hour is decent. I tried the chicken tinga, shrimp, and al pastor tacos. After I was pleased with those I also tried their birria tacos. The birria tacos were very tender — the meat portion was great. The consome was also a nice flavorful broth for the birria. The drinks were also good. I will be back to visit!

Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Philly. My friends and I come here often, and the service and quality of food is consistently amazing. The shrimp and birria tacos are my favorite, as well as any of the nachos. The desserts are incredible, my favorite being the tiramisu!

I’ve been here twice, and both experiences were fantastic in their own way. My first visit was on a lively Friday night, with a bustling crowd and plenty of staff, while the second was during the week, offering a much calmer, more relaxed vibe. Regardless of the day, the atmosphere was excellent. The food was outstanding—from their vegetarian options to their tacos and nachos, everything was fresh and flavorful. The drinks were just as impressive, and the bartenders made the experience even better with their great interaction and quick service. Both times, I sat at the bar and felt like I had the best experience possible. This place has officially made it into my top five for both food and drinks. Highly recommend!

What an amazing experience at La Llorona! The al pastor tacos were absolutely incredible juicy, perfectly seasoned, and with that delicious smoky touch that shows real care in the kitchen. The mezcal selection was impressive diverse, well-curated, and perfect for anyone wanting to explore beyond the basics. But what truly made the night special was our server, Pedro. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He gave us fantastic recommendations and made sure everything was spot-on. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to. Tequilas Restaurant & Bar is a long-standing Philadelphia establishment that has been serving up delectable Mexican cuisine for over three decades. The restaurant's elegant space is adorned with chandelier lighting and murals depicting Mexico's rich history, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners.
Tequilas is by far the best restaurant for food, service and atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and beautiful! Not to mention they have the best margaritas in town. The staff makes you feel like you’re a friend and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at home. If it’s your birthday, I highly recommend going to tequila!
Alexandra M — Google review
Tequilas reopening seemed like an awakening in Philly, I was so excited to try it! It was unfortunately a little disappointing. I want to say that the service was top notch and so friendly, you feel like a family member. Off the bat, I was sad to see there was no happy hour menu. My friend and I came at 5pm on a weekday, and I feel that being in the heart of center city there should definitely be happy hour options. Especially because the regular prices are expensive! We ended up just getting drinks and guac. The margaritas were good, nothing special. I got the regular and my friend got spicy. She wanted a little more kick to hers. The guac and chips were not great. It looked incredible and fresh, but there was zero salt and a lack of flavor overall. The chips were also bland. Our total for drinks and guac + tip came out to over $100. I unfortunately wouldn’t come back because I can’t justify spending that much for what we got, especially when so many other restaurants nearby have happy hour for 1/2 this price.

It’s been years since I ate here, and before the fire and subsequent renovations. The place is beautiful. Service was great. Attentive and friendly. We had margaritas and a light meal. All great. Loved the tamales and the molecajete. Will definitely go again. You should try

Tequilas has always been one of Center City’s gems and one of my my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city. After being closed for a while due to the fire, it’s safe to say they’ve come back better than ever. The food is outstanding; each dish beautifully presented and layered with authentic flavors that feel both refined and comforting... From the tender barbacoa bathed in rich consommé to the fresh guacamole con atún and the indulgent queso fundido, every bite feels like a celebration of Mexican tradition elevated to fine dining. The service deserves its own praise. You can tell the entire staff, like the servers, busboys, food runners, they all work seamlessly together as a true team. Everyone is attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience. Tequilas is not just a meal, it’s an experience- one that reminds you why this restaurant has such a loyal following in Philadelphia. I’m so glad they’re back, and even more impressed by how they’ve elevated every detail. Highly, highly recommend!

For the drink, I got rose petal margarita, which was very nice, then short rib cocktail which was tasty and spicy! My bf got michelada and de michoacan and both were nice smoky drinks. We got the day's special appetiser, oysters and shrimps. Oysters were really good- very milky and has no fishy smell! Ceviche Tequilas were super nice and tasty, nicely presented. Both appetisers are highly recommended! For main, I got Molcajete in lava rock bowl. It was so good and warm until I finish the dish. My partner got pork belly, mole dulce. It was nice but I prefer molcajete quite a lot more! Overall, very nice experience and great food. I also requested quieter area when I was making a reservation, and the room we were in was calm and nice. Good for any occasions: friendly casual gathering /lovely date night with fancy dresses

Alma Blanco is such a great cocktail. A great start to a fantastic dinner: ceviche, pork belly mole. Sadly, the dessert fell flat as it was positioned as a crème brûlée bus was more a much lighter affair. Regardless, service and atmosphere was great. I would come back (and try a different dessert!). The cocktail is now on my list of best-ever.

Rosy's Taco Bar is a vibrant and casual venue that offers a contemporary twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. The interior design exudes a fun-loving atmosphere with hardwood floors, colorful chalkboards, and ample natural light. A highlight is the hidden gem of a hot sauce bar stocked with an array of spicy dressings to complement the delicious tacos like the Bistec with verde-marinated beef, peppers, and spicy salsa de arbol.
Rosy's Taco Bar serves delicious Mexican food, we arrived after 10 and dinner area was closed but they were still serving some small plates like nachos, quesadillas and tacos, is had the chicken quesadillas and they were good. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere very welcoming with colorful decoration. Recommend it! Homemade margaritas is the highlight!

This is a place for happy hour or night out, it has a fun atmosphere and spacious seating. This time I came for a quick bite took a seat at the bar and with the $5 happy hour menu any choice is a good one I went for the tacos(3 per order) nachos and house margarita

I went there for a quick lunch. The beef taco was really good, and the chips came with lots of guacamole(like enough for a whole family). The portion was big, and I liked the flavors. The service was fast and friendly, and there were plenty of outdoor seats.

Service was great. Food was excellent! Offers both frozen and on the rocks margaritas, with lots of fruit flavours to choose from! Generous amount of toppings for the nachos.

A hot spot. Great tacos, nachos, margaritas, michelada I could go on ! We sat at the bar but there is seating for big and small groups. Attentive service. Unbeatable happy hour and late night offerings.

Nice taco bar close to 30th Street Station, which is convenient if you want a quick bite to eat or a drink while you wait. I recommend stopping by, especially as a fan of any Philly sports (of course). Good churros and margs!

This Mexican restaurant is absolutely amazing! The ambiance is cozy, with the candle on the table adding a lovely touch. I love how they present the dishes—everything looks so well thought out. The décor, the atmosphere, and the attention to detail make it a great spot to dine in. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. And of course, the food is incredible! The tacos are packed with flavor, and every bite is satisfying.

The tacos are overall okay. I really liked the chicken tinga tacos but the pork al pastor was really dry. Their margaritas are super good though! I got their mango marg and it was very refreshing. My friends got pineapple which was also really nice but their plain house marg was a 3/5 for me. Side note, their enchiladas are also really good (not pictured here)

Añejo Philadelphia is a vibrant dining destination that beautifully blends classic Latin cuisine with a lively atmosphere. With its charming exposed-brick walls and inviting outdoor seating, this restaurant offers an array of traditional Mexican dishes alongside expertly crafted cocktails. A standout feature is their impressive selection of tequilas and mezcals, perfect for pairing with meals like the delectable duck carnitas enchiladas drizzled in rich chocolate mole.
I was greeted by Jessica who was so genuine and joyous. She was my first impression to a great experience. Dining at Añejo was one of a kind. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Started with the guacamole (seasoned perfectly) and chips which paired well together. I ordered rice and beans. The kitchen is free flow or something so as the food is prepared, it comes to the table. The rice and beans both complimented each other so well. Best rice and beans I've ever had. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were the BEST. My date ordered the pork belly tostada and loved them. The non-alcoholic drinks were very good. Sweet heat had a major kick to it but the Seance was nice and perfect. Went around 6pm on a Saturday and was able to be seated right away. Reservations require a credit card but there isn't a hold and you won't be charged unless you don't show or cancel. FYI. I had a wonderful time and already scheduling my next visit.

I walked in by myself, just wanting to catch brunch before it ends. The manager sat me herself and made sure I was taken care of which I really appreciated. It can be annoying but I asked the waitress for her recommendations. The drinks were tasty and the food was delicious. Definitely planning to go back!

Food was so good! I got the cauliflower tacos, corn & rice & beans. I can't believe it took me so long to make it here. Good thing I was in the area for my complimentary ice cream scoop from an ice cream shop nearby for a yelp event & the person I was with was hungry & wanted Mexican food. A win is a win!

My friends and I went for their bottomless brunch which came with unlimited guacamole, chips and salsa, French toast, as well as brunch cocktails (margaritas, mimosas, sangria, and Bloody Mary), and your choice of an entree. It was a wonderful brunch, probably one of the best ones I’ve been to, especially for the price. Our waitress was WONDERFUL! She consistently checked in on us and made sure we were all satisfied. The food and drinks came out quickly. Everyone at the table raved about the salsa and guacamole. The servings were large and everyone left stuffed!

Stopped by Anejo after a long day of designing. We tried to go here one other time, but they were closing. I’m glad we tried again. Service was great, recommendations were solid, and the food was quite good. Shrimp & fish tacos with rice & beans with of course the guacamole and salsa combo. Tried to NA beverages — one was tart yet good, while the other was just the way I like it (in my Kendrick and SZA voices).

Had a wondering Brunch with some girlfriends at Añejo Philly. We had a server that was in training who was wonderful as well as the server that was training her. Food came out quickly and was cooked well and served hot. Only complaint we had was how loud it was. Understandably the space has tall ceilings and brunch held a lot of people, but it also felt like everyone was yelling over the music which we enjoyed but just hated having to scream the whole time. Other than that the entire experience was great.

Have you ever heard of BOTTOMLESS TACO TUESDAY?! I bet you haven’t, if not then you’re in luck because Anejo offers bottomless taco Tuesdays. What’s a better way to celebrate taco Tuesday? Unlimited tacos from 5-9pm AND happy hour starts at 5-7pm! There was a nice variety of tacos but the fish, shrimp, chicken and lamb were my ultimate fav. You can say that everything on the taco menu was delicious expect pork because I don’t eat pork. The first round must be an order of 3 tacos and I love how you can mix it up. After, each round of tacos it comes out with 2 tacos (because you can get full here & they do charge for a for a container to go). The cocktail was amazing, I don’t remember what I got but one was enough for me. The vibes were really chill and laid back for a taco Tuesday. You can also order margarita pitchers if you’re with a big group. I def recommend this place but be sure to go when you are starving !

The Twisted Tail is a popular Southern-inspired restaurant and bar located in the charming Society Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia. It offers a bi-level space with a sweeping sidewalk patio, perfect for enjoying cocktails, barbecue, and Southern American fare. The venue hosts live blues music on most nights, creating a lively atmosphere for visitors and locals alike.
I went here for Brunch with a few friends and the Twisted Tail was definitely worth it. The menu is extensive enough to cater to all different types of food palattes. They also have Champange sundays which was fun in which you pay 20 bucks for a bottle of champagne and the juice is free. They offer non-alcholic drinks as well, which were a bit pricey, but gives another option for people if they do not wish to drink. The food came out quickly and all tasted delicious. I want to come back for dinner to see how it compares.

I went for dinner with some of my closest friends to celebrate my graduation last week. It was about 14 of us so it was a large group dinner. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, it wasn’t too noisy and the hostess, Melinda, if I’m not mistaken, did an amazing job in making sure everyone was satisfied. However, I wasn’t that thrilled about not only the food but the sizes, they were very small. Especially the octopus! It was just one tentacle deep fried. I have attached a picture of the octopus and the steak. Also, it would be nice if the restaurant made a better set arrangement for the check considering the reservation was booked well in advance and they were aware of how big the table was going to be. I’d give it a 4/5!

The food is decent for brunch with a wide variety - but it’s pretty dark inside given the atmosphere (think like an English or Irish pub vibe). That said, they had a musician come in to sing jazz and play the keyboard, which was LOVELY. A very good brunch vibe, just wish it were a little more well lit.

We went for a quick bite and some drinks. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, and the vibe was really nice. Unfortunately the only good food were the oysters and popcorn. The taco was literally a whole chorizo and pre made cold tortilla with very minimal cheese, but the sauce was good. The octopus and potatoes were cooked well but tasted a bit odd and sort of dirt like? Again, the service was really good and everything was plated well! We did only have a few things and may have just gotten the not great part of the menu so I wouldn't completely write this place off.

Christina H was our server, and she was so sweet! She was very knowledgeable about the menu, and even though I wasn't too hungry, she helped me navigate what foods were good portion sizes for that. The live music was phenomenal and such a vibe. Sitting in a piece of history is remarkable! Cannot recommend this place enough, we had a lovely time!

If I could leave more stars, I would! I took my daughter and her friends here for her 18th birthday dinner. We were treated like ROYALTY! The manager Anthony made the dinner extra special. The environment is warm, cozy and inviting. The food (even the presentation) was top notch, delicious, fun and the drinks were AMAZING as well. I would HIGHLY recommend and if you dont, your missing out. You owe it to yourself, friends/family etc to head over to have the best dinner, listen to some great live music and truly enjoy yourself.

Silk City in Philadelphia is a unique blend of a retro diner, beer garden, and nightclub. The renovated diner offers classic comfort food like fried chicken and meatloaf, while the outdoor beer garden provides a vibrant atmosphere with cheap drinks and a packed dance floor. The nightclub area features neon lighting, black-and-white tile floors, and disco-ball chandeliers where DJs spin popular music on Saturday nights.
Love this place. The food is fantastic, the drinks dangerously delicious, and the staff is wonderful. I cannot recommend it enough. The chicken and waffles is like a northern take on southern chicken and waffles, and executed very well. The short rib grilled cheese is killer, and the jalapeño cornbread with honey on the side is yummy! I wish the cornbread had more jalapeño in it, but I’m a spicy food lover so that might not be everyone else’s take. The apple pie was soooo freaking good too! In terms of seating and noise, the seats weren’t the most comfortable thing in the world if you’re sensitive to that, and it does get a little noisy, so be aware if you’re hard of hearing. We had a fantastic time, and I hope to come again soon to try out more dishes!

Imagine a 1950’s diner that merges with a covered beer garden, where each sections serves great drinks, comfort food (love the fried chicken), and Asian inspired dishes. That’s Silk City. The staff is efficient, friendly and they knowledgable. Trust the recommendations. The decor ranges from deco to funk, and artistic ironwork adorns the garden windows. The dinning environment is comfortable and clean, with a great sound track and lively but not obnoxious convo.

This place was beautiful to walk into. Sitting down to eat made me feel like I was not even in the city anymore. The service was great, it was very busy but our server was still very attentive. I had driven past this place a hundred times and it always looked so cool. I was intrigued and curious for years. Finally, last night on a Saturday I went and checked it out. My GF and I sat at the bar and had small plates. The Mexican elote Street Corn was freaking awesome, the Plantains were great and we both loved the Jalapeño Cornbread with honeybutter. Lucha Cartel is a vibrant cantina located in Old City, featuring Day of the Dead-inspired decor and a lively atmosphere. The menu offers classic Mexican dishes such as tacos, guacamole, and empanadas, along with the popular parrillada for two, a Mexican-style barbecue dish. The restaurant hosts salsa dancing on Tuesdays and Latin-style parties on Sunday nights.
Visited this place on a whim while visiting Philly and was extremely surprised by the atmosphere, service, food, and drinks! This cantina had a luchador theme and our server was PHENOMENAL! I ordered the seasonal sangria and pineapple jalapeño maragrita, and both were so full of flavor while not skimping on the alcohol. The mole chicken enchiladas were some of the best I have ever had also! I was severely bummed to hear this restaurant has been bought out and wil be transitioning to a colonial-themed restaurant un Novemeber to cater to foods some of the founding fathers ate. To go from some of the most flavorful Mexican cuisine I have had to this new theme honestly sounds like a horrible idea. 😔

We visited Lucha Cartel while in town for a wedding and had a good experience overall. We were looking for a spot to hang out and enjoy some appetizers, and this place delivered. Food: • Veg Nachos: These were a highlight—flavorful and served with jalapeños (which we usually have to request elsewhere). The unique touch of radish as a topping was surprising and added a fresh crunch we haven’t seen at other spots. • Chicken Tacos: Well-spiced and delicious, they were definitely a hit at our table. Service & Atmosphere: We arrived on Friday around 8:45 PM and, despite having a reservation, didn’t need it as the crowd was light. We were seated immediately. However, by 9:30 PM, they started transitioning the space into a nightclub, which involved removing tables and chairs around us. While it was a bit disruptive, they do note this on their website, so we were aware it might happen. Overall: Great food with unique touches and a lively vibe, but the late-night transition to a club might not be for everyone. If you go earlier in the evening, it’s a fun spot to enjoy some tasty eats. Rating: 4/5

I went here for happy hour. The atmosphere is very nice. It turns into a nightclub after dark but I haven’t experienced that yet. Our waitress was very accommodating regarding my drink (I don’t drink alcohol) We ordered chips and salsa as a starter and we were given an option of how spicy we wanted it. The chips were warm and fresh. I ordered a virgin mojito, which tasted refreshing, and chicken enchiladas. The sauce was DELICIOUS, and the chicken was so tender. Our only complaint is that they brought my mother salmon tacos instead of chicken. Aside from that, our experience was great.

My second visit for this place was a really bad experience. To start with, the tables were not clean when assigned. The place was packed with people on weekend, as expected. We found a strand of human hair in chicken tacos. The order was returned and we waited close to 25-30 minutes and eventually cancelled our order for tacos. The bill when arrived, included the cancelled order of taco and the server was not happy to correct mistake they made, we were told that it will be corrected later once we pay the amount. I was highly disappointed with service by specific server that served us. Mistakes can always happen especially when the place is so much occupied, but the instinct of restaurant should be to make it a priority to fix it. If pointed out about the mistake or issues, don’t be upset with customers. This is basic expectation from a hospitality business. If the business is too much to handle more servers can be hired or limit number of people who can be seated. The other staff was really polite and helpful. Food is good here. I would recommend this place for good food. Not at all if you expect a good service. Here is my review from previous visit: Good Mexican food, ambiance and music. Tried nachos Lucha, margarita and chicken empanadas. Flan was really amazing. Limited street parking, the restrooms and service was okay.

I love not having to look at a menu and figure out what dishes I can eat. This restaurant is all vegan. I am vegetarian and my friend I went with eats meat. Both of us loved the food. we got cocktails and they were both delicious. I got the classic marg and it was very good! We got the sweet plantains, Philly cheesesteak empanadas, Spanish meatballs, oyster mushroom tacos, and the jackfruit carnitas tacos. The sweet plantains were delicious! Marlo was awesome!! Attentive, but never hovered, answered all of our questions with a smile, made sure we had what we needed. Just overall a fantastic waitress!! I hate to say it but the manager wasn't as friendly. We saw the manager and Marlo bump into each other, clearly an accident, Marlo kept apologizing while it looked like the manager was about to punch her. She didn't but it definitely gave us the vibe that the staff is abused. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day but she definitely seemed to have a negative impact on the staff and the energy changed when she left (she's why I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5)....do with that what you will, but remember happiness is a choice! Anyway the food was great! We had a table of 5 and the young man (I didn't catch his name but he was shorter with dark hair and nice nails!) who seated us was super accommodating and made sure we were comfortable in our outdoor seating, which we had requested. We devoured a few chopped salads, double burger, avocado toast and shared a plate of pancakes. No crumb left behind!! Everyone was satisfied and happy! My friends said the drinks were excellent too. Although the weekend unlimited mimosas were super tempting, I decided to behave myself. If you like delicious Mexican food and great people watching I highly recommend a sidewalk table!! I'll definitely be back for mimosas and to eat my way through the menu.

This was a nice, cozy place. It's a smaller space but beautifully put together. The food comes out as it is finished being prepared, so waiting for everyone to get their food to eat may not be worth it. They were very accommodating with my food allergies, but I was very limited due to a coconut and soy allergy. The hearts of palm tacos were tasty, but I would have loved a sauce, but...allergies so all good.

If you want PLANT-BASED PHILLY CHEESESTEAK EMPANADAS, come here!!! Had no idea such a thing could exist and it was perfectly done. The whole experience was so great as my mom and I were only in town for the evening and were looking for something yummy and plant-based. The ONLY thing I feel the need to comment on (and I legit never say anything negative in my reviews) is the hostess, Shannon, was incredibly (almost hilariously?) rude. It was such a small but impactful interaction: We walked in and it wasn’t clear if she worked there or if she was standing waiting for someone so we asked if she worked there. She said “yeah…?” And then we were like “oh okay great, we have a reservation!” Like, we were so excited to be there. And she legit just looked at us so unamused/deadpan and was like “… okay… ???” LOL like, what?! How is that your response to someone saying they have a reservation? Anyway, so we were like “um yeah so… we’d like to… sit?” And she just kept looking at us like we were the dumbest people on earth and finally asked what the name of the reservation was. I told her the last name and I saw it on the screen so I was like “oh it’s right there!” Then she practically rolled her eyes and then grabbed menus and sat us. Idk if she was just having a bad night or what but we were just so perplexed by that interaction. I sincerely hope her evening got better! While that was a big turn off, the service by our waitress Tatiana was superb!!! She was so kind and friendly and chatted with us about the city and different spots to hit up. Also the food was INNNNNCREDIBLEEEEE!!! Like, no amount of rudeness could take away from the deliciousness of the food, hahah. We got the empanadas, yuca, enchiladas, fish tacos, and coconut tres leches 🤤 everything was soOooOoOOooOo good omg. It doesn’t matter if you’re usually plant-based or not, you will love what you have here! I promise If I ever find myself back in this area I will definitely be returning (especially for those freaking cheesesteak empanadas, please don’t even stop making them!!!) 😋

BABY!!!! BAR BOMBÓN!!!!!!!! This has got to be one of the best vegan stops I have hit since 2015 (that’s how long I have been seeking out vegetarian/vegan food)! Tots on a day trip in Philadelphia and had this spot on my list because, of course! (Do yourself a favor and go look at the menu boo). I dined in, making a reservation that day, I was also a solo party. To start with drinks, I had the Cantaloupe Paloma and the La Preferida. So refreshing and light!!!!!! In the food arena, I snagged the Philly Steak Empanadas with spicy ketchup! In addition to that, the Sweet Plantains with aioli! Baby, you will want to slap the table! My main course was the enchiladas de mole with jackfruit as my filling option. My eyes were closed pretty much every time I put that fork in my mouth. I literally was flabbergasted by the fireworks going off in my mouth. Like…. The audacity of those flavors to be so dang good! So go ahead, make your reservations!

This is our favorite place to go in Philly. The food is delicious and the service is always top notch. You do need reservations if you want a table. We love sitting at the bar which doesn't require a reservation. One time we did go and the bar was full and we asked for a table, they said we can only sit back there with a reservation and we understood! We hung out to see if the bar would open up and the manager went out of her way to check with reservations and got us a table. That is rare and much appreciated by us! Great place!

Self ordered on the kiosk….service was quick & friendly. Food was fresh & delicious!! Loved the atmosphere. $3 chicken taco on Thursdays & the margaritas are tasty! Definitely coming back here! 🥰

A cute and casual spot for a quick taco fix or/and happy hour. It’s nice and clean, service is good, food is good too. Nothing exceptional, nothing too bad. They have good happy hour though, definitely worth a try!

The food here is really good and the atmosphere was so so. The last time I came in a woman was eating there with her ginormous dog about 10 feet away from me. Didn't know it was pet friendly and I'm not a fan of eating in restaurants with dogs inside. The service was lackluster seeing as though our table was never checked on and I had to remind the waitress that I never got my drink. The margaritas are really good and I'm a huge fan of the beef and pork tacos. Parking is a little hard to find, but worth the headache.

I just left this location. I ordered three short rib tacos with flour tacos. There is a comment box to specify exactly what you need. Since I paid cash, an attendant waited on me. I even asked her to make sure I got flour and not corn. She kind of blew me off and said if it is on the slip they will do it. Guess what? I get all the way home and have corn tortilla! So my choices are starving or spending the night in the bathroom. Btw you don’t even answer the phone. Don’t worry. We won’t be back

So you check yourself out here. They will bring you food, but service is limited. In my extensive Mexican experience these are the best tacos in all of Philadelphia and the Margaritas seem to have 'something extra'. I became addicted and had to lose weight... but I'll never give it up! Get over there.

Great fast casual Mexican spot. Loved there Baja shrim fried bowl.

I’m so disappointed in the order I received. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and 2 tacos from inside the restaurant kiosk to go. The $9 cup of soup had 1 small sliver of shredded chicken, 1 sliver of avocado, and 1 piece of maybe tomato drowned in a cup full of thin liquid. I can’t believe I paid 9 bucks for that! The tacos didn’t come with any salsa and the pork was super dried out. Service was efficient but the food is just not worth it. Overall do not recommend. I need to find more dinner.

I always have a pleasant experience. I love the sangria and margaritas and the food is always fresh and delicious. The is okay I never had a problem. The people are friendly and I always get my food quickly. I always recommend co-workers and friends and they never had a problem. I usually go there between 11am and 1pm.

I visited on my Birthday and I did enjoy the food along with the service. I recommend the guacamole to start, taste so fresh and is made to order. You have options of what you want in your guacamole. The short rib tacos were delish. The Ultimate Margarita pairs nicely lol, along with the churros!

the cook on the shrimp was amazing. whoever was on grill was superb. loved the tres leches cake dense yet flavorful and not too sweet. i had gone for restaurant week. the dressing on the salad was spicy which was good. the salmon was amazing. chorizo tacos was meh couldn't really taste it tasted more of the other meat.

Real Mexican food. People choice guacamole sounded odd but so good. Drinks we got margaritas perfectly mixed. I had tacos and my husband had the enchiladas both were amazing. I usually never get tacos at a restaurant because I think it won't be enough food, this was enough, we both left stuffed and no room for dessert. Waiter was very kind. Will recommend to anyone in the area.

Absolutely excellent gourmet mexican food restaurant! The service was wonderful and we got to eatoutside right on the street ! The entire experience truly made us feel like we were in some European country eating outside on the cobblestone streets!

Went on a Sunday night so it was quiet and not too busy. I had the spicy brisket tacos and yucca fries (the fries were spicier than the tacos) and they both were very good. The margaritas were small for the price but very tasty. Cute place with excellent/fast service. We’re looking forward to our next visit!

Great vegetable tacos, as well as the Blood Orange Margarita. Best thing is the customizable guacamole menu.

Simply put, EVERYTHING on the menu is made FRESH! Hands down best tacos in Philly 👐🌮🔔(and I have had many, many tacos from all over the city). More than just meat in a tortilla~ Delicious layers of textures and flavors 😋 OH, and btw, NO soggy tortillas! Savory juices served on the side for convenient dipping 🌮🥑Guacamole is made to order with your choice of veggies to add (or exclude for picky eaters)! I highly recommend the prickly pear margaritas~ They juice the prickly pears themselves 🍹😯 Great service. Nice staff. Head House Square, right above South Street.

Perfect place in Philly for Mexican food and drinks. The Guacamole and Fish/Shrimp tacos are amazing. We love the surprise Tequila and Mezcal drinks that Kabila makes for us. This is the perfect place for date night or just starting off your night in Philadelphia before seeing Elton John.

Lovely date spot! My partner and I came here on a weeknight for dinner and the staff were so courteous, the food was delicious, and we had a great time! The decorations inside are so intricate, and overall the restaurant has such a fun vibe. Would highly recommend the enchiladas with mole and flautas!

Good food. Fine fajitas. Nice tart margaritas in a wide variety of options. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly prompt service. Had a late dinner. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

On our way exploring downtown Philadelphia we stumbled upon this restaurant. The ambiance is great and service was good. They had us seated quickly and made sure our food came out fast especially since we had 4 kids with us. As a vegetarian, the menu presented a lot of options and ensured we were super satisfied and full to the brim. The vegetarian tostada was amazing. In addition their house made guacamole and hot salsa were really good too. Kids enjoyed their quesadillas and the enchilada was okay (could have been better). Overall very happy with the spot and would recommend.
Rahul S — Google review
We had a very good meal at Las Bugambilias in Aug 2025. On our menu was guacamole and pico, tamales, al pastor tacos, and an enchilada. Our favorites were the tacos and tamales, and while all of the food was good, we did feel like some components could use additional seasoning. The margaritas were completely customizable - liquor, favor, rim. We visited on a quiet night, so the noise volume was low, and the environment was welcoming and well decorated. Our server, Maria, was kind and attentive. Overall we’d definitely recommend and return!

Friendly staff! Great margaritas! Enjoyed the molcajete but the huevos rancheros was just ok.

Stopped in with a couple of friends for food & drinks at the bar. It’s a great space to hang out in on a sunny day with the front windows open. Our pitcher of margaritas was delicious, very freshly juiced lime/citrus. Chorizo y papas tacos were awesome, prices are good for portions. I was surprised this place isn’t busier around lunch/brunch on a Saturday; as a result there was not a ton of staff so sometimes service was a little slow, but not a detractor for hanging at the bar with no time pressure on our day.
Jayna F — Google review
Decided to stop to try the food. Got caught by the happy hour sign thinking it was for the restaurant as a whole. So when we got greeted by the hostess we gave our total and they sat us down In the dinning side. Whe. We asked about the happy hour, they said it was only for the bar side. We were not the only ones who went through this awkward conversation as another couple came in and also asked about the happy hour and were told it was for the bar side only. Recommend hostess ask guest if they want bar or dinning side and state that happy hour is exclusive for bar side only. Simple service communication. On the food and drinks side, everything was good and well seasoned. The chicken mole was good, but the chicken was a little overcooked so it was dry. Don't bother getting the chips and salsa, not worth the money in my opinion, salsas were two 1 oz cups and there was nothing to brag about.

It’s a cute but small place, I took a friend for her birthday to get margaritas & tacos. I’m not sure if something was bad but I’ve never been so sick in my life. Literally while I was still sitting in the place, my stomach was turning upside down. I couldn’t keep anything down for days after having the shrimp tacos. I will say the sour cream had a funny taste so I’m assuming that’s what tore me up BAD

There is daily happy hour from 4 to 7pm. The hibiscus tea cocktail is refreshing and delicious. I love the use of decomposible straws, not the paper ones that melt but the good ones that don't melt but still kinda good for the sea turtles! The plate is not cute but the food is absolutely delicious. The tempura green beans were so addictive! Little did we expect that to be any good. It was crunchy on the outside and softer on inside. We were seated outside and unfortunately got multiple bites by mosquitoes so beware! Not the restaurant fault - we should have known. Serving size were very generous and honestly great stop for a quick bar stop with friends.

Nice dark moody atmosphere for a bar, the food took a minute but was decent for bar food. Chicken Mac and cheese was surely grilled and nicely seasoned but was a bit burnt. Tried their spicy pineapple margaritas special and it was served in a rocks glass without any salt, which was unexpected but not being an avid margarita drinker I’m not too picky.

Protap burger was delicious bread perfectly toasted bun, burger meat had lots of flavor. The salad was alright would probably go for fries next time. Also tried popcorn chicken. Great place! Everything is gluten free, and they take reservations! We came as a party of 5 on a Friday evening at 6:45pm it wasn’t super crowded but by the time 7:30 pm rolled around it was crowded, so I would say after 7pm make sure to have a reservation! We got some apps to share and then got tacos for ourselves individually (it is 2 tacos per order). The Birria quesadillas were amazing! The calamari & empanadas were also really good! We also got the pitcher of mango pineapple margs and the green juice margs both were amazing and the green one was so fresh and earthly we loved it! The vibes were nice a little all over but it worked well. Lastly, the churros were amazing and so happy they are gluten free as well!!

My wife is a big fan of this place, and we used to eat their burritos a lot. A few months ago, my wife brought a burrito home, and when she was almost done, she gave me a bite. Right away, I could tell something was off. I’m a chef, and I know perfectly well when food is not in good condition. The next day, my wife felt sick all day. Yesterday, after several months, she asked me to try their burritos again. When we brought them home and started eating, after just a few bites I could already taste that something was wrong. The flavors were really unpleasant, and neither of us could even finish half of the burrito. Today my stomach hurts and I have diarrhea. I don’t know what happened to this place. They used to have really good burritos.

There are only 2 bathrooms on the 3rd floor. Overall, I would return!

*Takeout Review* Since this place was very close to my friend's house, He recommended I try this place, he ordered 2 dishes for us. While the portions are very generous for the price, the proteins cooked nicely and the sides are good too. However I find one of the dish a little too salty and oily, and the cheese on top was unnecessary. The food was OK at best. Maybe next time If I decide to visit again, I will try some of their tacos or burritos. The staff is very friendly and the Atmosphere is unique.

We were having a great time and enjoying the food at this place although we got a carafe with warm water to start. The taco dish only included 2 small tacos which were good, but a bit expensive for the portion. The corn on the cob and plátanos were delicious and plentiful which you kind of needed to have a full meal. The nachos were tasty as well. Our server was good and we probably would’ve stayed longer and spent more money for drinks especially, but the food runner had VERY obnoxious and offensive body odor. Probably the worse I’ve ever smelled for anyone who worked in a restaurant. It wasn’t regular oh some needs more deodorant, this was terrible. I would not have ordered anything if I smelled that horrid body odor smell first. The space of the restaurant is small, so I knew we couldn’t be the only ones who smelled it. My husband was congested when we got there, but the smell helped clear the sinuses which I guess is an upside. I wouldn’t eat here again because I’m not sure about their standards especially hygienic standards. If not for the smell, I would’ve given 4, possibly 5 stars, but that ruined it for me.

Steven, the manager was very helpful with organizing the check, ensuring we were all fine and the waiters were patient considering we were a large group! It was my third time here and they didn’t disappoint, 10/10

I’m honestly obsessed with Condesa. The vibes are just immaculate, it’s the kind of spot you walk into and immediately feel good. The food never misses, and even their breakfast is out-of-this-world delicious. It’s one of those places I could eat at every single day and not get tired of. Definitely a Philly favorite for me.

Overall a good experience at Condesa. The food tasted great and left us wanting more. We did have to wait 15 mins past our reservation timeframe to be sat but they gave us a comp guac! VERY loud inside which i’m typically not a fan of. truly could hardly hear one another speak due to the music and other guests being loud.

Had dinner at Condesa this past weekend with my friends and it was such a vibe from start to finish. The ambiance is super cute: modern, fun, and beautifully designed. I loved how diverse and lively the crowd was too. We started with the guac and chips and the ceviche. The ceviche was incredibly fresh with just the right balance of acidity, which I absolutely loved! For my main, I had the braised beef brisket tacos which were juicy, tender, and overall super flavorful. My spicy mezcal margarita accompanied this well. I will also add that the service was also great. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, when visiting Philly again, this is definitely a spot that I would come back to!

We visited on 7/5/25(Sat) around 5:30pm and sat at the bar. The bartender was super-attentive, engaging, and all around friendly. The food is excellent and the restaurant is very spacious. Highly recommended. Pictured: bone marrow, ceviche, and michelada.

The staff/service, food, and atmosphere was absolutely top notch. The host and hostess were very informative in helpful as they explained the difference between El Techo and Condesa. Our server was Emily and she was super knowledgeable about the menu, professional, kind, and attentive. I will definitely be back when I visit Philly again. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Condesa is legit one of the best spots in Philly! The food was unreal – the carnitas tacos were next level, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. And don’t even get me started on the margaritas – strong, flavorful, and just the right mix. You can tell they take their drinks seriously. The vibe was cool, and the service was solid too. Definitely a spot I’ll hit up again. Highly recommend.

I love this place! I avoid “hotel restaurants” at all costs.. this is absolutely not that! It is located in the Motto hotel by Hilton but, I can guarantee this is not by any definition a “hotel restaurant” at all. This is upscale Gourmet type Mexican food that will rival anything you have eaten. The staff is always incredible, extremely attentive, knowledgeable and professional. Tonight, Manny was my bartender and I can’t say enough good about him and his service!!! He was AWESOME!! He is a TRUE MIXOLOGIST!!! The food is top notch, eclectic and super fresh! There is a great happy hour 5-7, don’t miss it! Excellent staff, incredible food and superb service all at extremely fair prices! Give it a shot, you will be shocked!

Los Camaradas is a Mexican restaurant that offers delicious food and an extensive tequila and mezcal selection. It has a friendly atmosphere and provides great views of Julian Abele Park.
Such an awesome restaurant! The art work was phenomenal. The food and drink were off the charts delicious. The wait staff were so friendly and helpful. Definitely will be returning very soon.

I went here yesterday night for dinner. The service wasn’t ideal. The food came quick but the server wasn’t very polite. We ordered the nachos which tasted amazing and the quesadilla which was good as well. For drinks we got margaritas. They have a very limited drink menu so that was disappointing. Aside from the service, the food came which & was good!

I live nearby and have been going here about once every other month for a couple of years now, and never had a reason to consider stopping. I’ve never had issue with the service or atmosphere, though on active nights they do get busy and the service is much slower even if the quality is still good. Some of the dishes I’ve loved enough to make them regular orders are the short rib enchilada, the sopa de tortilla, and the thick cut masa fries.

Los Camaradas, nestled in Philadelphia's Graduate Hospital neighborhood, is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of Mexico. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by a vibrant ambiance, with decor that transports you straight to the heart of Mexico. The menu boasts an array of dishes that speak to the diversity and richness of Mexican cuisine. Each plate is a celebration of flavors, expertly crafted and beautifully presented. Not to mention, their drink selection is equally commendable. The margaritas, in particular, are a must-try, balancing sweetness, tang, and the perfect kick of tequila. The staff exudes warmth and hospitality, ensuring every guest feels at home. Whether you're seeking a casual evening with friends or a romantic date night, Los Camaradas offers an experience that's both delightful and memorable. If you find yourself in the Graduate Hospital area, don't miss out on this fantastic Mexican-inspired haven.

This used to be my absolute favorite local spot but since the pandemic it has gone down hill. The food is great but the service leaves much to be desired, waitress took forever to refill water, when we asked for napkins she also took forever to get them back and the food took a long time to come out. I didn’t want a repeat of my in dinning experience so I ordered door dash pickup but the restaurant was almost an hour past the estimated time, my door dash driver arrived and was told it would be another 20 minutes. I don’t know if they are short staffed or if they just don’t put anything into costumer experience but this place, sadly has a lot left to improve.

Food and drinks were really good, service was on the slower side. Great happy hour everyday from 4-7. Nice atmosphere for just chilling and catching up with friends.
James G — Google review
Margaritas are solid. Food is mid. Service is poor. Came on Mother’s Day - told to seat ourselves outside. Only 2 tables set up - both taken though plenty more locked up. When checked in and asked if we could sit in one of the other tables we were told no. Inside was empty. Did not seem interested in serving us so we left.
Ellen D — Google review
This poor review is because of the service. Server seemed bothered to be waiting tables. He also charged us for items we did not purchase. It was taken off the bill, but when I got my credit card receipt, I noticed that he got the tip wrong and charged more than I had authorized. One mistake on the bill is fine, but given the attitude and errors, I believe this was done intentionally. I hope it is not common that the wait staff is allowed to swindle customers. Food is fine but it’s nothing other Mexican restaurants in the area can’t do as well or better. Of course, a call to the restaurant about this went unreturned.

La Chinesca is a Mexicali dining experience located in a renovated former Jiffy Lube station, offering a cool retro-chic atmosphere. The menu draws inspiration from Northern Mexico's Baja region and features classic Mexican dishes like tacos and carne asada fries, alongside Chinese-American bites such as egg rolls and fried wontons. The seasonal food and cocktail menus offer spicy options, making it an ideal spot for both Mexican staples and Chinese-inspired dishes.
One of the most unique and revolutionary tastes I've had... the asian x mexicali fusion dishes are absolutely amazing. Egg rolls paired with a tangy mustard and passion fruit/honey sauce was crispy and flavorful. Next favorite is the charsiu chicken tacos which kinda melted in your mouth. We also had scalion pancake, which was super rich and tasty but a bit salty and oily. Overall 10/10, music slaps, cool staff and vibe. Might have seen god after the meal.

Everyone should go here! Everything on the menu is so so good and the service/staff is so amazing. Drinks are fantastic as well. They have outdoor seating in the front and the back and often host cool events. 5 stars is well deserved.
Claire J — Google review
This is a properly hyped restaurant! The atmosphere is fun, but relaxed. The menu is curated and intentional. The service was attentive, not rushed. Every bite of food was delicious - not one bad bite. I was blown away. I went with a pescatarian friend, so I did not eat a meat dish. We ordered the wonton chips and three dips (red salsa, salsa verde and duck sauce) the chips were crispy and salty, and the dips were so well done. We ordered the tuna tostada which was a great mix of texture and flavor. The macha crisp had great spice and the tuna was delicious. We ordered the fish tacos and the avocado tacos - both different and delicious. The orders had three tacle each of small corn tortillas, the fish was lightly spicy, and the avocado was fried but refreshingly light. For drink I had their take on a dirty martini which was an elevated and interesting experience for a simple cocktail. Finally we ended with 3 church's and chocolate sauce, the churros were light and airy on the inside, crispy and sugar coated on the outside and the chocolate sauce was great quality. Altogether our meal was $55 per person and the portions were filling. I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant meeting it's very highly hyped expectation. I'll go again and you should feel compelled to try it out!

My partner had a birthday brunch at La Chinesca in the summer. We had a party of eight and brought our own dessert (lemon tiramisu). I ordered the salt and pepper squid caesar salad based on a recommendation from a friend. The salad was fantastic and big enough to share between two people! Also pictured is the churro french toast and the burrito mojado. The plated the tiramisu really well too. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, and I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I was slightly disappointed by the food, but the vibes and the drinks were SO good that I would still come back. The calamari salad was really nice textures but a little bland in taste. The short ribs were pretty dry but well sauces the carne asada was dry and the queso was burnt. The elote corn was good but the texture of the small corn was weird. The jarritos drink and mezcal signature drink were SO good and the space itself was so fun, airy, full of character.

La Chinesca is trying to bring Mexican and Chinese fusion together. They say their food is based in Mexicali, which is a city in northern Mexico with the biggest Chinese immigrant population! We got Tijuana street dog as appetizer, and let me tell you, this is a must get! The sausage was juicy in a mixture of chilis and cilantros, almost similar to the toppings of banh mi. For the two mains, we got grilled duck quesadillas which mimic Peking duck with its oyster sauce and salsa macha. I think, personally, the duck didn’t stand out and was shadowed by the sauce. The char siu tacos were a bit dry and would benefit from a salsa. On the good note, the customer service was great. They offered my puppy some water while we sat outside in the patio. I’d go back again and try other things for sure.

Wow! Came here for the first time and loved it- one of the best margs I have had in a while. I got the avacado taco which was phenomenal!!!! My boyfriend enjoyed the Burria taco and carnitas taco. We also loved the fried wonton chips. Everything was so good and we will be back for more. As for the atmosphere, there is a front patio as well as back patio. It was nice and shaded in the back with turf grass and comfy cushioned benches and chairs. Plenty of space back there. The service was great and the chef even gave us a complimentary taco. Will 100% be back!

Juno is a Mexican-American restaurant located in Callowhill, offering classic Mexican dishes and a variety of cocktails. The outdoor dining space is adorned with painted murals and lush greenery, providing an ideal setting to enjoy drinks like the Uno de Juno or the Elderflower Jawn. The menu features a range of options including tacos, nachos, burritos, and more. With its pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, Juno is known for serving very tasty American Mexican food in a beautiful setting.
Had a fantastic meal with my kids at Juno. First, the dining area is a cute patio with a chill and friendly vibe. Real trees! The $5 margarita was surprisingly good and there are a lot of food and drink options on the happy hour menu (4-7pm). The mole chicken enchiladas were top notch. They even catered to my kids’ requests like no sauce, no sour cream, etc. The highlight was the chocolate churros which you MUST GET. Best churros I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot.

The place is really nice I love the outside but covered setting the service was good and the taxos & drinks were good. But the tables are entirely too close together. This group came and sat next to us and this disgusting woman was coughing all over the place we had to move to a different table. Overall I would definitely recommend and I will be returning

This spot is beautiful, loved the indoor/outdoor vibe with pretty flowers everywhere. The margaritas were great and cheap too ($5-7). But the food and service were pretty underwhelming. I should’ve taken the hint upon entering when it was not crowded at peak dinner time on a Saturday. My tacos were pretty bland, and my friend’s salad was mostly dressing snd cheese with unseasoned chicken. Our waitress kept disappearing despite it not being crowded.

We recently hosted our pre-wedding reception here, and it exceeded all our expectations! The ambiance was magical, between the string lights, greenery, and beautiful flowers creating a little oasis right in the heart of downtown. Many of our guests mentioned how it felt like a vacation spot! Their Event Director, Stephanie, and their General Manager, Chris, were both a pleasure to work with during the planning phase, always quick to reply and accommodate our needs. The staff went above and beyond—constantly checking in, taking photos for us, and providing a warm, friendly presence throughout the event. The food was a huge hit, with everyone raving about the chips and guac and the DIY taco station. We enjoyed a perfectly laid-back but fun evening, just as we had hoped. This venue is truly a delightful hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to returning!

Iztaccihuatl Restaurant is a modest Mexican eatery known for its staple dishes like fajitas and enchiladas. Customers have praised the generous portions, authentic flavors, and friendly staff. The restaurant offers delivery through its own service, which may require some patience but is ultimately worthwhile. Visitors have enjoyed the clean environment and excellent steak dishes, making it a go-to spot for Mexican cuisine in Philly.
Ordered the birria tacos and tres leches cake. The tacos had amazing flavor, but didn’t come with consomé which was new for me. Their take on tres leches was interesting… vanilla and chocolate cake with apricot (or some similar fruit) in the middle. Very moist and decorated beautifully.

Absolutely disgusting. Just received from UberEats, both the “birria” and al pastor were the fattiest pieces of meat I’ve ever been served. Gross, could not eat. Everything was so fatty.

This place is a vibe! We drive 45 minutes for delicious breakfast el gratin sarten and for lunch the taco salads and pitchers of margaritas. The service is always top notch and the food is so good. During the summer you can sit out on the boardwalk to people watch.

We recently checked out Casa Mexico while we were in Philly, and we must say that we felt like family and at home! The service, music, food, and ambiance were all outstanding. I loved the mole and could taste the care that went into making the dish. The pozole was also delicious. Now we understand why the chef is a James Beard Award recipient!

We had a very good lunch at Casa Mexico. We tried the chicken and barbacoa tacos, along with the rice and beans—all of which were flavorful and authentically prepared. The atmosphere is casual: you order at the counter, find a seat, and they call your name when the food is ready. It was busy during Saturday lunch, but the wait wasn’t too long.

My family and I decided to go to Casa Mexico after realizing that our favorite taco place (South Philly Barbacoa) had closed for the day. We ordered the chicken with mole and it was served with delicious rice and beans and warm tortillas. The mole was perfectly sweet and spicy. We also ordered cecina tacos that were served with nopal and onions. The tacos were tasty and packed meat and authentic flavor. Our 5 year old loved the rice and beans. The prices are reasonable and worth it. The best part was meeting Chef Cristina Martinez. I’ve been a fan for years. We recommend Casa Mexico to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine.
Catarina P — Google review
If I told you I'd been waiting for a long time for this day to come, I wouldn't be lying, and I'm not talking about my birthday. It was about visiting this place, this slice of heaven, Casa Mexico aka South Philly Barbarcoa. Initially, before the restaurant, SP Barbarcoa had limited hours to sample their wares, but no more, Casa Mexico steps in to offer this goodness everyday but Sunday. Consider yourself blessed. Long has been the lore of chef Cristina Martinez, and South Philly Barbarcoa, "google" her you'll see. Sitting down to partake in this goodness is a special treat. True to fame, the meats are gloriously slow cooked, so much so, each bite is juicy, succulent and tender. Should you come, like me, particularly for the barbarcoa, you will not be disappointed. As a huge fan of Mexican cuisine, this is as authentic as it gets. Although I'm not privy to the witchcraft to make the barbarcoa come to life, it is special indeed sorcery. Sauce liberally if you choose, but the purety of the barbarcoa is something to behold on your tastebuds, it hits the soul. The atmosphere reminds you of Mexico, austere, bare bones, but full of life, color and flavor. There is indoor and outdoor seating, it is both comfortable and homie. The staff is friendly and informative. Whether your looking for catering services, or a quick bite via their tacos, you will not be disappointed. Your only disappointment is that you didn't visit earlier, or more often. Yes, it's that good. A gem in the city.
Laine A — Google review
Great tacos! I tried the Barbacoa when they were located at their old location, amazing. The owner of South Philly Barbacoa relocated to her new location inside Casa Mexico. The new space is three doors down on 9th towards Washington Ave. Pictured here is the Chorizo. Nice flavor and had a little spice kick but not overpowering. Will order again. I only wish you were able to mix and match the tacos - to be able to explore the menu within the same visit. Considering the tacos are priced the same. I don’t see why you can’t mix the choice of meat for three tacos. Overall, still a great experience. If you are concerned about not speaking Spanish. It’s okay. Spanish and English are spoken and understood when you place your order. Things to note: If you order from the South Philly Barbacoa menu CASH ONLY. The Casa Mexico menu takes all payments: Cash & Card. You order first then you can seat yourself. It gets crowded depending on the time of day & day of the week. I went on a Sunday. Wasn’t crowded when arrived but as my food showed up and I was leaving. It was a nice amount of people waiting to order. There is limited outdoor seating and you can sit inside Casa Mexico, as well. I recommend trying Casa Mexico if you enjoy authentic Mexican food. Freshly made tortillas!

Wow just wow. Authentic good eat. Made a perfect brunch and the service was great. The meat was tender and juicy and the sauces provided were great. Try their spiced coffee, it really warmed the soul. UPDATE: Finally got there tacos and woooooooow. The carnitas is so juicy and tasty. Major points for getting 4 tacos instead of 3 like most places AND get being able to switch them up. 2nd UPDATE: Man I can not stop writing about this place. Got soup this time and the ceviche. Both excellent dishes. Nothing on this menu has disappointed me and the service is amazing.

If you're a fan of comfort food, then Mac Mart is a must-visit destination that celebrates the beloved mac 'n' cheese in all its glory. Founded by owner-chef Marti Lieberman as a food truck on Drexel University's campus back in 2013, this culinary gem has since blossomed into a charming storefront located in Rittenhouse Square.
I’m not gonna lie but this is so good and it’s a really great set of options on the menu. The weather was perfect and the two of us plus our dog had a great time sitting outside with the bustle of city life around us. The staff were very friendly, the service was really quick and the food was amazing. The ‘wit’ Mac was full of caramelized onions with just the right amount of ketchup and the potato chip panko crunch gave it a nice crispy crunchy flavor that was a perfect complement and contrast to the mac n cheese- cooked just right. My companion had the in the buff which I of course tried. The zesty buffalo sauce gave it a mouthwatering tingle and Pam Pam’s buttermilk ranch balanced it out perfectly and again the mac n cheese was just the right tenderness and cheesiness to make my mouth water as I am typing this! We will definitely be back soon and I I will eventually order the macarollis that looks so good in the picture! Thank you Mac Mart for being part of the great community of people who have established their business in Philadelphia - a great city for all kinds of foodies!

I went in last night and I was really impressed! I don't remember the guys name but he was so nice! I'm in the area for a few days and needed to get out and do something and I ended up at Mac Mart. The food was fantastic. I definitely recommend I think it was the chicken bacon ranch macaroni and cheese bowl. On top of the food being great I had a great conversation with the guy there. I dined in and got to charge my phone and chat with him the whole time. Turns out we grew up in the same area and I still currently live there so we were catching up on what used to be there and what's still there and what not. Anyways he was awesome and the food was awesome and I'm going to try and make it back over there! 10/10 across the board. Thank you for having awesome reasonably priced food and for being a friendly face and for letting me hang out and chat and charge my phone. See you next time!

This is probably one of my favorite take-out spots. I’ve seen it all over my feed, and I ended up coming with a girlfriend before a show. They only serve mac and cheese, with a variety of toppings you can either choose yourself, or pick one of their predetermined bowls. I had the heart attack mac, which was their mac topped with caramelized onions, crispy bacon, and panko crunch. It was rich, and I was able to finish half of it for dinner. The take away containers are rather nice for reheating the next day. You can truly judge a mac by how well it can reheat, and this did not disappoint. It was just as good the following morning as it was the night before. I will definitely be coming back.

I have a few things to say about this place. 1. Owner- Cool dude Food- Outstandingly delicious. We had the crabby Mac. Add bacon. Surf n turf if you will… It blew our mind. And we come from the Chesapeake Bay. We are going back for seconds. They’re moving down the street so be on the lookout!

Cheesy, gooey, perfect Mac and cheese. We really enjoyed Mac mart. The Buffalo Mac was spicy and a great balance with the richness of the creamy sauce. While there was only 1 employee working he worked hard to get us our food quickly. Highly recommend!
Amelia T — Google review
If you're looking for a nice bite of Mac and cheese with a variety of toppings, look no further. Mac Mart has numerous options and even a flight option where you can pick 6 of their different types of Mac and cheese for less than $30. I went with a group of my friends and wife and we all decided on differing options. I got greedy and ordered both the crabby Mac and the heart attack. The heart attack was very delicious. The caramel onions gave it such a wonderful taste. My one friend ordered the flight and was able to try 6 different flavors. While the portions aren't massive in the flight they are enough to satisfy your hunger. None of us could finish our orders but now we have something to finish at home. Definitely worth trying at least once. I definitely will be going back to try more options.

A must try! We stopped in randomly for lunch, service was super fast and the person behind the counter was super nice. The Mac was very thick and creamy, super cheesy. They had a good variety of toppings and styles of Mac, their Spinach and Artichoke dip is on point. I have had too much Mac and cheese in my life, and will have to come back here to have more. I will say it wasn't the best Mac I've ever had, but I'd love to try the jalapeno one next time since I prefer Spicy. My only other critique was that the black pepper was a little too much, but I understand most people would probably enjoy that. Also, super cute ambience and they have adorable yellow outdoor seating. Minimal indoor seating, but enough to have an early lunch inside.
Megan W — Google review
We traveled to Philly for a comedy show and ended up at a restaurant where I asked about samples, but they were not offered. This lack of sampling was a red flag for me, as I believe that if a business is confident in their product, they should have no issue letting customers try it before committing to a purchase. I thought about how providing samples could potentially lead to more sales, even if some customers didn't end up liking the sample. My main concern was seeing a large bowl of mac and cheese sitting behind the counter for an extended period of time before our food was served. After about 20 minutes, my husband tried his portion and thought it was decent, but I personally did not enjoy it. I was particularly bothered by the amount of water separating in the bowl, which made me question if there was excess water in the recipe or if the dairy had curdled. In the end, I opted not to eat my portion, hoping that the issue was related to the recipe rather than spoiled ingredients. Great business model. If you believe in your product, push it.
