Piazza Vecchia is a stunning square located in the center of the old town, surrounded by noble houses and the Palazzo della Ragione. The Colleoni Chapel, located in Bergamo, is a stunning 15th-century funerary chapel known for its colored marble exterior and frescoed ceiling. This Italian Renaissance masterpiece is dedicated to Saints Bartholomew, Mark, and John the Baptist and features an overwhelming mass of decoration that dazzles the eye.
The tickets are 5 euros (used to be free), however I think it was worth to pay, since I could not take my eyes off the artwork. Very beautiful and majestic, worth a visit

Asking an entrance fee AND not being allowed to take pictures is unacceptable. Especially because of all the damage the catholic church has caused to humanity Allowing free visits is the least they should do for reparations
Frank — Google review
For €2.30, you get to see one of Italy’s most beautiful chapels. The details, colors, and sculptures are just incredible
Nassreddine E — Google review
A true gem in Bergamo! The architecture is stunning, and the details inside are incredible. Definitely worth a visit if you're exploring the old town!
MIM R — Google review
The Colleoni Chapel in Bergamo’s Upper Town, Piazza Duomo, is a Renaissance gem commissioned by Bartolomeo Colleoni as his mausoleum. Built between 1472 and 1476 by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo, it replaced part of Santa Maria Maggiore, sparking controversy. Today, it stands as a symbol of artistic and historical grandeur.
Dr. H — Google review
Absolutely spectacular baroque church!!! Limited hours. Check website. Weekends can get a little busy but this is the most special church we have seen in Europe so don’t miss it! Have fun!
Wayne B — Google review
While many are drawn to the quirky three testicles on Colleoni's family emblem outside on the fence (which is definitely worth a peek or even a touch for good luck), I highly recommend stepping inside. And see its ornate architecture, frescoes and sculptures. It's clear Colleoni wanted to leave behind a truly remarkable legacy. It's a powerful and beautiful testament to his heritage. Don't miss the chance to explore the interior – it's an unforgettable experience! And you just need to put 1 Euro (or more to enter).
Kirill B — Google review
Unmissable. I gazed for ages at the ceiling, the misericords, everywhere is beautiful. €2 to enter. Up there with the Sacre Couer.

The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore is a stunning Romanesque church featuring an elaborate marble porch and a lavishly gilded interior adorned with tapestries. Originally under the administration of the Chapter of San Vincenzo, it was later entrusted to the Congregazione della Misericordia Maggiore. This historic site served as a Collegiate Church until the 1970s and housed its own clergy and seminary.
I love visiting churches when exploring new cities, and this one truly took my breath away. I didn’t expect to find such stunning art and architecture here—absolutely outstanding! A must-visit if you’re in Bergamo. The craftsmanship and atmosphere left a lasting impression.
Habib F — Google review
The most beautiful basilica I’ve ever seen. Every detail is captivating – from the tapestries and wood inlays to the gold accents, paintings, and statues. There’s a sense of harmony and peace inside that makes you want to stay longer and take in every element. You can easily spend a lot of time here just admiring the craftsmanship. The entrance is paid, but it’s absolutely worth it.
Mariana S — Google review
The church opens on Piazza Duomo, you can buy tickets as you enter. The external appearance has largely maintained its Romanesque origins, but the interior is largely Baroque. The choir with the wooden reliefs with Biblical tales are spectacular. We visited the church on Sunday, after the service, and it was a little crowded, but not disturbing. We also had live organ music throughout the visit, I don't know if it's like that every day, or just on Sundays. The music contributed a lot to the whole atmosphere.
Maria R — Google review
Located in Bergamo’s Città Alta, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore was built in the 12th century. Its Romanesque-Lombard exterior contrasts with a richly Baroque interior. Originally serving as the baptismal church for the Cathedral of San Vincenzo, it stands beside the historic episcopal curia, preserving centuries of sacred heritage.

Campanone, also known as the Civic Tower, is a medieval tower located in Bergamo's Upper Town. Standing at over 52 meters high, it was built in the 12th century and offers panoramic views of the old town and its mountainous surroundings. Visitors can access the observation deck via a staircase with around 230 steps or take an elevator for convenience.
The best vantage point in Bergamo! Highly recommended if you would like to get a really nice panoramatic view of Bergamo and it's surroundings. The tower itself has a lift built-in nowadays which takes almost to the very top. You then just need to climb a few steps to get to the bell floor for best possible sightseeing experience.
Alexander K — Google review
Such towers were very popular all over northern Italy during the medieval ages. They expressed the wealth of families who built it, but very few remained today. This tower is in the very center of Bergamo upper town, on the main Piazza Vecchia square. Entry ticket of 7 Euros includes climbing the top with an elevator, as well a small archaeological museum down. Views from up (there're two platforms) are stunning, with both upper and lower Bergamo, as well half Lombardy on a clear day
Dejan B — Google review
Probably the highlight of my day in Bergamo! I arrived 5 minutes before they opened the doors and I had the tower for myself for about 10 minutes. The view is truly spectacular! Tickets are only a couple of euros and you can also combine the campanone and the museum inside which was interesting but the view is what makes it so worth visiting!
Marc-André G — Google review
Hearing the bell ring while soaking in those amazing views of Bergamo—that’s a cool moment!
Zongle — Google review
Amazing view from the top of the tower and a very good interactive museum.
Martin K — Google review
🎫 Currently 7 euros but includes 3 parts to the visit. Stunning tower right in the main square, 52.76m high. You can walk up or take the elevator, handy! The views are wow 🔔 Then you can visit the remains of the Podesta Palace of the family, some ruins and then a lovely little museum on the history of Bergamo 'Museo Delle Stories di Bergamo". Lots of activities going on this year in general. Definitely worth it!
Betsy C — Google review
Stopped by the is town on the way from Milan to Garda. It were many things to do, to shop and good food around. Bought 12 Euro ticket/person to go in Campanone which this same ticket can be used to access another 4 museums nearby as well. The exhibition has been presented brilliantly, so we enjoyed everything here a lot. The only down side is that it all in Italian so we had to use translation application most of the time.
P S — Google review
Buy a combined ticket online for the historical museum which includes this Bell's tower. Incredible view from the top with elevator access if needed. A must to discover the beauty of the old city and the nearby hills.

In the heart of Bergamo Alta, Piazza Vecchia is a bustling square surrounded by historical landmarks. Adjacent to this municipal building is the imposing Palazzo Nuovo housing the Angelo Mai Civic Library.

Pallazzo della Ragione is considered one of oldest Italian municipal buildings. Back in the 12c it housed the city council and other administrative offices, while during the Venetian period served as a court. It divides two main squares in old town - Piazza Vecchia and Piazza Duomo, between which you can roam through ancient palace arches. Plaques in those arches explain the history of all buildings around

(Translated by Google) The Palazzo della Ragione in Bergamo Alta is an authentic medieval jewel, among the oldest municipal public buildings in Italy, built between 1183 and 1198. Developed between Piazza Vecchia and Piazza del Duomo, it served as the administrative, judicial and aggregation heart of the medieval city. Originally facing the basilica, between 1453–63 it was reoriented towards Piazza Vecchia to enhance the new city hub. Veramente stupendo

(Translated by Google) It's very beautiful, but what I find truly interesting is the fact that it has been used several times to host contemporary art installations... the dialogue between the past and the present is often re-enacted, as in the Cattelan sculpture currently located there. It depicts a homeless man slumped on a bench, intent on pissing himself... and it's no coincidence that it was placed there... the Palazzo della Ragione was the place where justice was administered, so this statue is a clear social commentary that unfortunately remains relevant...

The Palace of Reason has served as a government seat, courthouse, library, and theater. Its elegant architecture and rich legacy place it at the center of Bergamo’s cultural and civic life. Deeply cherished by locals, it remains a symbol of the city’s enduring history and communal pride.
Dr. H — Google review
(Translated by Google) This building was built in 1198 as a town hall, making it the second oldest town hall in Italy after the Roman one. Previously, the main façade faced the Piazza Duomo, where the entrance staircase also stood. After fires in the 13th-16th centuries, the building underwent significant reconstruction. The main façade was reoriented north, toward the Piazza Vecchia, a new staircase was added to the side, and the old one was dismantled. After annexation by the Venetian Republic, the building housed the Palace of Justice, a name it retains to this day. Since Napoleon's time, the building's civic significance has gradually faded; it has been used as a library, and for a time, it even stood empty. It is now used as an exhibition space. The frescoes, ceilings, windows, and the entire interior are 16th-century, but the exterior retains elements from the 12th.

(Translated by Google) Built between the late 12th and late 13th centuries, it is one of the oldest municipal buildings in Italy. Its stone façade features a loggia with pointed arches overlooking Piazza Vecchia. During Venetian rule, the building was used as a courthouse, hence its name, as the judges "rendered justice" to the citizens. Under the portico, there is a sundial carved into the marble pavement, dating back to the 18th century, which marks the local midday and the date. The upper floor houses the Sala delle Capriate, where contemporary art exhibitions are organized in collaboration with the GAMeC of Bergamo.

The Civic Museum of Natural Sciences in Bergamo, established in 1861, is a great destination for those fascinated by zoology, entomology, geology, and paleontology. Situated near the Archaeological Museum in Piazza della Cittadella, it features an array of intriguing exhibits including a mammoth skeleton, arthropod collection, whale skeleton and precious stones. The museum offers interactive experiences for children to touch stuffed animals and various fossils.
It's a really nice and interesting place, make sure you have at least 2+ hours even though the vast majority of the plaques are only in Italian. An additional bonus is that the ticket is also to the Civic Archaeological Museum right next door.

Totally worth to see. Kids were happy that there were interactive pieces of exhibition. Amount of spieces shown is huge, it was a pleasure to see them so close in detail. I couldn't believe it costs only 3 euros. We spent two hours there, without reading a lot, so I can imagine that more time will be needed if you really want to lok deeper

What a great place! The ticket is €3 and it includes the archeological museum as well. It has a very large variety of species, from bugs and minerals to large mammals and dinosaurs. It can be visited and enjoyed by people of all ages, not only children, yet it has some interactive games for kids. They even have some live ants and stick bugs which were really cool. There are 2 things that could be improved. First, the window displays are quite old and could be updated. Second, the explanations and descriptions are in Italian only. They should really translate them to English as well. All in all, great value for money! (We would have paid more if it was a bit more foreiner friendly)

They tell you MISINFORMATION. I do not recommend getting any information here. Lady working here (brown hair, glasses) obviously does not like her job. She "advised" us to get bus tickets from the tabaccheria at train station and we paid nearly 7 euros MORE for these tickets, she did not tell us you can buy the ticket straight inside the bus, which are WAY CHEAPER. Not very friendly!
Klaudia W — Google review
*****FINE EUR70**** It should have been a nice day in but NOT Bergamo. We were ripped off by bus inspector, accused and fined us getting to the bus to the Bergamo old town without ticket. The bus website said we can buy the ticket on the bus also ticket machine not working. In the crowded bus, we saw the ticket inspector in the bus so we waited to buy ticket from her. When she came to us, she just accused and asked us to pay fine for getting to the bus without ticket. "I JUST DO MY JOB" that is all she was saying. NO she did not do the job. She abused authority. Without judgeing fairly if we are genuise tourist or ticket violation. Moreover, the city looks not friendly many immigrants wondering aimlessly, armed policemen. Train station officer is not helpful, bus driver looks angry, bus inspectors not welcome Sure many tourists have a good time but why should we take the RISK.
Ta B — Google review
Had a great time in Italy, Milan, just finishing off with a quick day trip to Bergamo. Unfortunately the whole trip has been ruined because of a bus ticket machine that wasn't working and a ticket inspector who decided to fine us instead of helping. So my advice is avoid Bergamo, if you must come don't travel by bus...

La Marianna is a renowned bar and pastry shop known for its delicious fiordilatte gelato enriched with large pieces of dark chocolate. The idea for this delectable treat originated from the recipe for stracciatella alla romana and has been a specialty at La Marianna since 1961. The cafe, currently managed by Niccolo Panattoni, offers seating in a charming shaded courtyard, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or a snack before or after an afternoon concert.
I'm cheating to write this review, because my wife has a special bond with this place. She first sat here writing in her journal in 1998. Even if you don't have a long-term tie to this cafe, you'll really enjoy sitting here. Such a calming vibe.

Day trip to Bergamo, I stopped by to try Stracciatella (chocolate chip gelato). It is a birthday place of stracciatella. I am not big chocolate chip ice cream person. It was creamy and it was good. I wanted wafer cone, it is only come in 3 scoops, 4.50 euro. The wafer cone was okay. The other two favors were pistachios and strawberry. Stracciatella was the best of the three. Is it better than other gelato, not really.
Jay S — Google review
The original stracciatella ice cream. Yes,this is much more delicious than anything sold as stracciatella. I became a fan. 🤩 Also tried polenta e osei which is a local specialty and very tasty. Crispy sweet polenta outside and some kind of cream with almond and apricot jam inside. Don't forget to try coffee with zabaglione as well, I loved it!!

At La Marianna, the birthplace of Stracciatella, simplicity turns into perfection. A scoop of history, a taste of tradition, and the delicate balance of cream and chocolate that has enchanted the world since 1961. Pure Italian elegance in a cone.

A Perfect Afternoon at La Marianna – Gelato, Aperol, and Sunshine after a walk from the castello di san vigillio. During my recent visit to Bergamo’s charming Città Alta, I had the pleasure of stopping by La Marianna at Largo Colle Aperto, 4. Seated on their spacious outdoor terrace, I indulged in their specialty affogato a delightful combination of rich espresso poured over their signature La Marianna’s original 1961 creation, stracciatella creamy gelato. Complementing this was a refreshing Aperol Spritz, perfectly balanced and served with a smile. The gelato was creamy and rich, with generous chocolate shavings that melted perfectly on the tongue. It was evident that high-quality ingredients were used, making it one of the best I’ve tasted. The ambiance was serene, with the sun casting a gentle glow and the world leisurely passing by. It’s no wonder La Marianna is renowned not only for inventing the iconic stracciatella gelato in 1961 but also for providing such memorable experiences. If you find yourself in Bergamo, I highly recommend taking a moment to relax at La Marianna. Whether you’re a gelato enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil spot to unwind, this establishment offers both history and hospitality in equal measure.

The Cathedral of Bergamo ⛪️ is a place that impresses with its beauty and history. Upon entering, I am captivated by the magnificent architecture and the works of art that adorn its walls. Every detail of the cathedral, from the altar to the stained glass windows, tells a fascinating story. It is a place of peace and reflection, where I feel connected to culture and faith. 🤩 If you have the opportunity, visit this Italian gem 🇮🇹. #BergamoCathedral #Church #Art #Italy #Culture # 🇮🇹❤️📍 28.09.2025

Beautiful baroque cathedral. Came here while rehearsal for big mass. I found a chapel of holy cross very beautiful. There is a painting of Christus taking off the holly cross and in the dome painting Christus is painted with the cross and Father God and Holly Spirit as Holly trinity. There is also small and hidden Stations of the Cross, carved in marble. The cathedral has also a crypt, but was not accessible at the time of visit.

Bergamo Duomo is set on Piazza Duomo - a tiny and packed square with other religious edifices. It is the very first on the left, and you'll recognized it by its whitewashed neoclassical facade. However, behind it, when you enter, you're stunned with outstanding and beautiful art and decoration. We even found it more beautiful than the next door Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, as the decor is not that intense like Basilica's. Entry is free
Dejan B — Google review
Quite plain on the outside but rich in decoration in the interior. The Crypt area is very interesting and a must see when you visit. There are a few mini chapels off to the sides, so make sure you visit those also. As always with these Italian Cathedrals the floors and ceiling is incredible. The church is free to enter.

The vibrant colors and intricate details are particularly prominent around the altar but can also be found adorning other walls throughout this charming church.
Chiesa di San Michele al Pozzo Bianco is a small, historic church in Bergamo, known for its Romanesque architecture. Built in the 12th century, it features a charming facade and a beautifully preserved interior with ancient frescoes. I love it. Once you are in you are able to feel you displaced into an ancient atmosphere, maybe even more because of the very few people visiting it. I think this is for the authentic connoisseur desiring to switch a moment in life and quench his thirst at masters of painting school, in a very few words: I love beyond the limit, really, not only frescoes but the volumes of the building itself. Building's underground is also accessible, don't miss it.

Palazzo e Giardini Moroni is an extravagant 17th-century palace located in Bergamo Alta. The interior boasts stunning Baroque architecture and a rich art collection, with opulent frescoes adorning the walls and ceilings. Visitors can take a self-guided tour through several rooms inside the palazzo and explore the beautifully landscaped gardens at the back. The rose-filled gardens feature neatly clipped topiary and offer picturesque views of the surrounding mountains, providing a serene setting for relaxation.
When visiting Citta Alta, and if you interested in seeing a beautiful building with fantastic interior, you should visit Palazzo e Giardini Moroni. We spent one hour visiting the place. After climbing the first stairs go to your right and watch the film (in the old kitchen), which will give you a very good introduction of the place and its history. There are English subtitles. Then go round in the rooms and enjoy. Also worth seeing the large garden. We were here in December, so the garden is looking much nicer in the warm season.

I had a self guided tour through the palace, the interior is stunning, walking up the staircase has a wow factor. It’s very beautiful. The gardens were lovely too. Definitely a place to visit if you’re interested in the baroque period, I thought the €10 euro entry fee was very reasonable too. I chose to visit around 11am on a weekday and it was incredibly quiet, the staff were very helpful. If you’re staying or visiting Cita Alta, it’s a must see, I hope to visit again in the future.

Piazza Duomo in Bergamo Alta is a compact space filled with centuries of history and architecture. Dominated by the Cathedral of Sant'Alessandro, it also features the Baptistery, Palazzo della Ragione, and Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Once the city’s main square, it hosted proclamations and trade. Today, cobbled streets radiate from it, preserving the charm and spirit of the Upper Town. The Baptistery, a Renaissance treasure by Giovanni da Campione, and the cathedral’s rich 17th-century design reflect Bergamo’s cultural depth. This square remains a vivid testament to the city’s religious, civic, and artistic legacy.

Never disappoints! It's my go-to-place when visiting Bergamo. This time I only passed through the city for 2 hours just to visit that place and buy focaccia for both sit-in and takeaway. It's iconic to the city I would say. All the toppings are clearly high quality and you can tell by all the flavours and freshnes.

A classic touristy spot—crowded but efficient. Service was quick, though the pizza leaned a bit salty for my taste. They were too busy to clean the tables promptly, but we managed to find a spot upstairs. The space there felt a bit bare, with plain walls and no decoration.
Zongle — Google review
What a place! The pizza is exceptional in flavour and choice. It was busy the times we went but the numbering system to order is helpful and having more than one person with you to find and wait for a table whilst the other pays and collects is ideal. You pay by the kilo so can be easy to ask for a small/large slice as they cut them to order.
Josh H — Google review
The focaccia was absolutely worth the wait! From taking the ticket to placing and paying for the order, we waited about 20 minutes – but every bite made it worthwhile. We paid around €20 for two pieces, which is more than fair given the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Perfectly balanced flavors, soft and aromatic dough – it simply melts in your mouth. Definitely a place worth visiting!

Honestly the food looked so good and I have been seeing it on instagram . But when I reached there , there were already a lot of people in queue and yet the food tasted old , stale and not fresh . I paid almost 10 euros per slice because it weighed and it’s mostly bread that heavy . The croissant ham sandwich was mid and so was their latte. Honestly I would never go back there . The margarita I ate was honestly the most fried slice of stale pizza I have had and the salmon was edible but for the money I paid it’s such a rip off

San Bernardino in Pignolo, Bergamo is a traditional Roman Catholic church dedicated to San Bernardino of Siena. Construction began in 1450, and it's known for its stunning artwork, including the mesmerizing altarpiece depicting Madonna and Child with Saints and Angels by Lorenzo Lotto. Despite being little known due to occasional closures from thefts, it's worth visiting to admire the incredible colors and modern representation of the altarpiece.
(Translated by Google) The church of San Bernardino in Pignolo was built in the second half of the 15th century, after the canonization of the Saint, probably as a chapel reserved for nobles and rich merchants. Cited in a notarial deed of 1511 and in two wills, respectively of 1514 and 1528, it was reconsecrated by Bishop Milani in 1593, probably after a restoration. We can assume two different construction phases, with the part of the presbytery which should have been an addition in the sixteenth century to the original fifteenth-century structure. In 1876 a renovation took place, which partially altered the original characteristics of the building, with the modification of the external elevations and some internal parts. The first three arches should have remained intact, but the roof of the presbytery and that of the nave were modified, repeating the original structure. The lateral pointed arches, which lead into the individual chapels, are certainly nineteenth-century. A subsequent restoration was carried out in 1926, following the urban transformations of the area. From its origins the church was the seat of a "schola" of Disciplini or Flagellants, a brotherhood which combined the common practices of piety with the collective exercise of flagellation, called "discipline". In 1806, following the Napoleonic decree dissolving confraternities, oratories and lay associations, the "Schola dei Disciplini of San Bernardino" also ceased to exist. Inside are the paintings by Giampaolo Cavagna from the second half of the sixteenth century and the altarpiece by Lorenzo Lotto, dated 1521, depicting the Madonna enthroned with Child and saints.

Too bad, it is under-appreciated: it would have many visitors who are passionate about painting, as it is also close to the Accademia Carrara and the church of Santo Spirito, where another altarpiece by Lotto is located. Parco Suardi is a lovely park with something for everyone. It features a children's train, games, swings, and slides. The green spaces offer plenty of room to play or relax with friends and family. There's even an ice cream store nearby. The park provides an oasis with excellent child's play equipment and a bar for outdoor drinks and relaxation. It has a large playground with toys for kids of all ages, including some that require payment.
This is a beautiful green area. There is a large playground with toys for kids in different ages and also a fenced area with toys that you must pay (10 coins costed 5 euros).

Small park, some swings and such for the little ones. There is a little entertainment area here for small kids, toddlers up to let’s say six or seven, with some fun looking rides and games. Opens around 10:00 in the morning.
Tijs — Google review
Playground is super disappointing. Seems like the only playground in the area and yet, the equipment is old and tired. Feel sorry for the kids in Bergamo. No wonder some of the smaller ones were amusing themselves by spraying each other with the bidet hose in the public bathroom. Same is true of the amusement area. It's cheap, but the equipment is old and busted, and the woman with long dark hair who oversees the go-karts (which have neither a seat belt or a helmet and which stop spontaneously in the middle of the track which makes them a prime target for being crashed into) has zero idea how to interact with children. The ticket booth attendant (female, short hair) is lovely though.

Cinta Muraria di Bergamo, also known as the Venetian Walls of Bergamo, is a 16th-century megalithic fortification surrounding the citadel of Bergamo. The walls offer stunning panoramic views of Citta Bassa and are surrounded by picturesque cultivated fields, gardens, and orchards. While access by car is restricted on Sundays, visitors can reach the top either by railway or a scenic walk.
Gorgeous walking path with the beautiful city of Bergamo as the landscape. Beautiful even when clouded and rainy. Must see.
Povilas G — Google review
The view from the top is breath-taking (pun intended 😀 ). There's a path to have a walk, lots of benches to relax and enjoy the panorama of the city. You can also see the Bergamo airport and airplanes taking off. At night it looks just as beautiful. The hill is very steep. It will take around 10mins to climb to the top. There's a funicular (and the stairs leaxing to the top of the hill besides). There's another path that is less steep, close to Fontana di Sant'Agostino, and you end up having a nice stroll as well

There are two ways to reach the historic centre and the walls. There is a cable car or you can walk. I definitely recommend walking because it is a very short and really beautiful way. Afterwards you will get a view of the whole city.

Closed to go by car on Sundays so the option is to either go by railway or walk. The line for the railway was really long so we decided to walk all the way up. Lovely place to go and walk around the edge/walls of the upper city.

Nestled in the charming heart of Bergamo, B&B la Torre Bergamo offers a cozy retreat with a warm family atmosphere. This quaint establishment features simply furnished rooms that provide complimentary Wi-Fi and parking for guests. Just a short stroll from the funicular and bus stop, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the area. The peaceful ambiance at night allows for restful sleep, despite occasional sounds from nearby mopeds or garbage collection. Guests can enjoy delightful breakfasts while overlooking a picturesque piazza.
The hotel, located in the heart of the old city, made us feel at home. Alessia couldn't have been friendlier. The rooms were very clean, and despite being centrally located, the surroundings were very peaceful, with a kitchen where you could find everything you needed at any time. We fell in love with Bergamo. We will definitely visit again on our next trip. Thank you so much for everything.

Great location, friendly service but our room was 29 degrees hot in the night (there is no air conditioning) so it was horrible for sleeping. You also can't open the window because it's very noisy from the street. I was considering checking out after the first night
Daniel S — Google review
Location is great and the owner is nice, but there was no AC in the room, so it was very uncomfortable to sleep. Rooms are rather small, and there is no elevator.
Ena M — Google review
Loved our stay at La Torre Bergamo. Alessia couldn't have been more welcoming, the room was spotless and in a great location for shops, bars and amazing restaurants in the heart of the Old Town. Room was quite small which might be trickier for a larger visitor and there are stairs to all rooms. But if you're happy with that, you'll have a great stay. Only tip would be earplugs as there are mopeds going by during the night but that is the trade off for the central location.
Kelly B — Google review
Clean rooms with good beds and modern bathrooms with excellent showers. Lovely breakfast included. *But*: very loud noises from the street and the pub next door, late into the early morning hours. You will hear the noise even if you're staying on the very top floor. Not La Torre's fault, but not a great spot if you need some sleep!

Very nice B&B in the heart of the old City of Bergamo. Small establishment, very friendly tenant/personnel, very quiet room even with windows open (excluding the garbage collectors) overlooking a little piazza, very good buffet breakfast (could however propose also muesli on top of standard cereals). Provide special permit for circulating/parking in the restricted area - beware of this and request it in advance if possible. Small B&B thus no lift. No A/C but fan provided.

Well...Great location, clean and well equipped, but few cons.: the so many high stairs to the rooms. It is very complicated to climb with luggage and do not think they have any arrangement for wheelchairs! Breakfast is limited and this morning they've run out of bread! We send down to the closest backary to buy some bread. So grade would be as much as 8 to my view.

The citadel was accessible in its upper part from the upper Pantano Gate of which there is no trace because it was demolished, but the lower Pantano Gate remains accessible, in the vicinity of which the mammoth tusks were found, then placed in the museum. The gate is located in the southern part of Piazza Mascheroni and connected it with Via Borgo Canale. Feel very unsafe here. If you are a girl, don’t come here alone because there are literally 50 something men smoking weed here as I’m writing this review
Amy N — Google review
Just terrible station. Tried to go to the toilet which costs 0,50 Eur cents. Just coins, no card, no paper money. I had just 0.45 Eur cents with me, other cents were 1cent, 2 cent coins which "kind wc lady" did not approved. So I was not allowed to use the restroom after 3,5 hours bus journey. It is inhumane, tragic. Viva Italia - they really love tourists, I really want to go back :)

Really disappointed that the bus station for this beautiful bellisima city is so..."seedy"! Flixbus does leave from here but the concept of platform is very arbitrary here, just stand by the wall...

If you're getting flixbus it's important to know that they don't go to a numbered bus stand, they stay on the left of the bus station area. I was confused, flixbus shared 2 different locations through their app and ticket. Luckily there was a woman on info desk to help me when I asked. Facilities are pretty good, toilets. Cafes. Nowhere near enough seating for all the people who suddenly need these buses. Loads of students appear at end of day, it gets crowded and chaotic.

(Translated by Google) Bergamo bus station, where several buses depart (both scheduled and non-scheduled, including Flixbus). The station, where tickets are sold, closes early, but buses still run. On Sunday evenings, in the middle of August, it's a desolation. There aren't very respectable people around; I recommend being careful! There are plenty of seats on the platforms. Adjacent to the bus station is a large, multi-story covered parking lot. It's located in front of the train station. Rocca di Bergamo is a striking 14th-century fortress situated on the hill of Sant'Eufemia in Bergamo's upper town. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Alps. The fortress houses a section of the city's history museum, providing an intriguing look into Bergamo's rich past. Visitors can explore remnants from the city's military history while strolling through the grounds.
This is La Rocca, a beautiful open air museum from Bergamo. 🇮🇹 This place is full of history (mostly monuments from WW2, even a tank that was well-kept). Some of the writings you'll find here tell stories from famous battles which took place between 1939 - 1945 (The Battle of El Alamein, Egypt, being one of them). If you're visiting Bergamo for the first time, don't miss out this great tourist attraction. Believe me, it is stunning. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After visiting La Marianna we went to see the botanical garden. It is located on the hill with many stairs to get up there. So not a place for people having difficulties walking! The garden is nice with many places to sit and rest, and enjoy the view of the city. There is also a public toilet available (clean). Many different plants but not that many flowers.

I walked to from the lower town to Città Alta, my mind went to “I wonder what’s up the hill”. What a quaint garden with beautiful views. A really nice place to look at if you’re into botanics and want something a little bit different. I found that I had the place all to myself and made me wonder if many tourists know of this place?
