Outdoor Activities
Poetto, also known as Poettu in Sardinian, is a vibrant beach area that stretches for about 8 kilometers from the characteristic rock formation Sella del Diavolo to Quartu Sant'Elena. This popular destination offers a variety of activities such as swimming, sunbathing, beach volleyball, and cycling along the beautiful promenade. Visitors can enjoy beach services, ice cream parlors, restaurants, and lively nightlife throughout the year.
I had a wonderful swim here in the clear water. The beach is 8 km long and is divided into free sections (my choice) and parts where you pay to enter and for sun-loungers, beach umbrellas, etc. I took the bus from the centre, buses PF & PQ get you there in 20 minutes for €1.30 (or €3.30 day ticket).

Beautiful scene, blue sea coast!😍It was lovely beach coast, nice walk. Can be windy, the water is not warm at all, bit fir me was nice from Ireland :)) Can hire 2sunbeds+umbrella for 24euro. Nice snacks, bats and beers on the beach all along. Friendly ppl. Revommend to visit.

Just a very busy beach with big crowds sections where you pay to stay or free of charge. Very long and nice sand.

Poetto is a 8km long beach with easy access by public transport, very nice and clean, calm water, amazing for kids, with restaurants along the beach. I found a small stretch of beach with family atmosphere. It's a great opportunity to enjoy a beach day if you are in Cagliari.

Super beautiful and clear water. Lots of people, but that’s understandable. Really recommended, I would totally go again.

Bastione di Saint Remy is a significant structure featuring a limestone arch, pillars, terrace, and promenade for cultural events. It is located in the districts of Marina, Stampace, and Villanova. Visitors can explore various squares and outdoor areas for traditional celebrations. One can start their Cagliari tour by ascending the marble steps of Passeggiata Coperta or taking the free elevator from Piazza della Costituzione to reach Bastione San Remy.
Amazing scenery, views and a wonderful walk around here. Not too far from the port. Some fantastic history and if you have the buggy tour you can find out more as you go past which we did. Such a lovely area, we really enjoyed this start to our Italian holiday.
Beereed — Google review
This was a cool stop I walked to from the cruise port, it was uphill the entire time but the views were pretty cool. There are many stairs to get to the top, and once you get there there are several benches and some trees. Unfortunately none of the benches had shade.
Devon K — Google review
One more bastion. Built in the late 19th century on the ancient city walls. Connects the lower city to the historic Castello district. From the top, enjoy stunning panoramic views over the city, port, and sea. A perfect spot to relax and take photos.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a beautiful old structure with wonderful panoramic views of the city once you climb the elegant staircase. Just be warned it can be swarming with tourists taking Insta photos and TikTok videos which can detract from the experience. Don't forget to open your eyes and drink it all in ❤️
Adam G — Google review
Nice view, you can buy umbrellas or hats from vendors there. I recommend not going in sunny weather and during the lunch hours as it is very hot.
Иван М — Google review
The view is astonishing. It is very close to the city center with good restaurants and coffee houses. Free access to the top – a must-visit if you are already in Cagliari.
Lukas P — Google review
We went for the evening walk around this place and we quite liked it. There was life music, not that many people. Beautiful place.
Anna M — Google review
Bastione di Saint Remy is a beautiful and historic landmark offering stunning views over Cagliari. It’s a great spot for photos, relaxing, and soaking in the local atmosphere. The architecture and terrace are impressive, especially at sunset. However, accessibility can be an issue—there’s only one elevator, which often means long waits. If you’re traveling with kids or strollers, be prepared for some inconvenience, especially during busy times. Still, it’s worth the visit.

The park features lush pine groves, tree-lined pathways, and a playground for children. It's also home to various wildlife such as cats, peacocks, geese, ducks, rabbits, and an array of bird species.
Very big and nice park with different birds and animals: goose, peacocks, turtles, cats. And it's totally free! The nature itself is also very beautiful, and it has good viewpoints from the top to catch sunset or just look at the city from the height.

If you're visiting Cagliari and seeking a picturesque and serene escape, look no further than Parco di Monte Urpinu! This park is an incredible afternoon experience, particularly in the spring when the lush greenery, blooming flowers, and enchanting water features create a true haven. Parco di Monte Urpinu offers something for everyone. Families with children will find various areas specifically designed for their enjoyment, while those without kids can still appreciate the park's beauty and tranquility. The well-kept paths and ample seating in the form of benches provide the perfect setting for a leisurely stroll or a quiet moment of reflection. Animal lovers, rejoice! This park is incredibly dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friend along. But it's not just dogs that call Parco di Monte Urpinu home – the local wildlife is a true spectacle. The lake teems with friendly ducks and turtles that will practically eat out of your hand, making for a delightful and memorable encounter. While there are colonies of feral cats roaming around the park that may appear intimidating, rest assured they don't cause any trouble. However, the real stars of Parco di Monte Urpinu are the majestic peacocks that freely wander the grounds. These beautiful creatures allow visitors to get remarkably close for photographs, but remember, they are still wild animals and should not be touched. In summary, Parco di Monte Urpinu is a must-visit destination in Cagliari. Its beautiful landscapes, abundant wildlife, and family-friendly atmosphere make for a perfect afternoon outing. Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience this hidden gem – you won't be disappointed!

Amazing park! Best to go with children! Lots of room to run around and play. Many playgrounds. You will meet all kinds of animals that are super friendly and let you go really near. There is a really quiet easy walk to the top of the hill. It has beautiful views to the city. It’s a good idea to spend the sunset there!
Joandra T — Google review
The bird’s eye view of Cagliari. You can reach this spot easily by car, a short drive up to a top of a hill where you can see both sides of Cagliari. I happen to be there and witnessed an amazing sunset. Just sit there and enjoy the mesmerising view of the city. Quiet and nice wind felt refreshing.

The Civic Market of San Benedetto is a bustling and vibrant covered food market located in Cagliari, Italy. It is renowned as the largest covered market in Italy and Europe, spanning two stories and 8,000 square meters. The market features separate departments for produce, fish, meat, and more.
We enjoyed the walk to this market and found that the stall holders were very friendly and happy for my photography to include them and their produce.

The market moved to a different location, its still open. Prices are hit and miss, depending on the stall, produce is very fresh though. Everything seems to be local

Absolutely lovely experience! We went twice during our 5-day visit. Such a variety of fish, seafood, cheeses, sausages, fruit, vegetables, meat, salami, antipasti, bottarga, honey, jams, etc. Walking through the aisles and pick products for you lunch, dinner or snacks is a fine Sardinian experience. We loved it and also had the best coffee in our entire lives! Fishermen open up oysters for you and you can eat them right there, that's what we did. It is a must-visit while in Cagliari! 😃

The Parco Naturale Molentargius Saline is a vast urban wetland featuring both fresh and saltwater ponds, offering a diverse array of bird species and scenic paths for visitors to explore. Spanning over 1,600 hectares, this park boasts delicate yet efficient ecosystems that support protected plant and animal species, including the iconic pink flamingos. It's highly recommended for nature enthusiasts seeking an immersive experience within its unique environment.
The park is huge, we took advantage of the tour, for which we paid 25 euros. It turned out that we were lucky and we were the only people for that hour, so we had a private tour. The guide was great, he told very interesting stories. We had access to parts that are closed to regular visitors, we were given binoculars and we could admire the flamingos through a telescope. There were thousands of them and the view of them flying above us was amazing. It is definitely worth spending this money.
Martyna R — Google review
We visited a park known for its flamingos. Be aware that there's absolutely no shade, and the walk under the sun can be quite long. You can also do the route by bike, depending on your preference. We took the shorter trail and it still took us almost two hours. I highly recommend bringing plenty of water and a hat, as there are no refreshment options along the way. The flamingos can only be seen from a distance. If we had been better prepared for the sun, it would have been a beautiful walk (or ride) along the river or canal and past salt basins. But I guess I was expecting a bit more from the experience.
Denisa B — Google review
We rented 2 push bikes for an independent tour. No guides. You can rent them for 2 hours for a nominal fee. It's free to walk. Bus tours are available. Takes you to some restricted areas. Friendly staff and helpful. Best to take water and a hat. It was warm and exposed but breezy. The office has a little coffee shop and toilet facilites. Beautiful and quite scenic. Very few Flamingos were left in the colony as they have started their migratory journey. We were lucky to have spotted a few Flamingos across the parking lot before entering the park. They were mostly white with a little toycb of flamingo 🦩 pink on their wings. We visited end of Aug. I believe best would be to go during summer. It was still worth the visit. We would go again as we enjoyed the bike ride along the scenic sea salt harvesting ponds and so many other birds and turtles etc.
The G — Google review
We were looking forward to seeing flamingos. We could see flocks on our way from the airport and expected to see many more and from smaller distance. We were seated on a small electric van with 10 seats. Each participant was given a binocular and a large one was carried and installed by our guide. Unfortunately, her English was very poor. That was surely a pity because she alternated Italian and English explanations and she passionately said so much in Italian (we couldn't understand) and very little in English. Seeing birds in binoculars was exciting. I recommend buying tickets online as on the first occasion we got here there were no places left and we had zo leave ... Still I am not sure if it was worth 25 euros/person. We drove mostly in publicly accessible places. Probably I would recommend renting bikes and binoculars.
Richard S — Google review
Flamingos!!:-)) Very kind staff, great English, you can visit for free and see flamingos, you can also rent a bike for 10€/2hours. There was also a bus / guided option i think. I did the free visit by foot which was easily walkable. And after five minutes I already saw many flamingos 🦩 🥰 great experience! Remember to bring a hat and a bottle of water if you go during the hotter season. Inside the info point there’s also a cafe with very friendly staff, coffee, coke etc and even pistachio croissants!🥐 :-) 100% recommend if you want to see flamingos in their Cagliari habitat of salinas :-)
M. B — Google review
It is really spacious area. People ride on the bikes, walk, children play football etc. I used a free car park nearby. Also there is possible to watch the flamingos 🦩 and feed donkeys 🫏
Waldek — Google review
Beautiful park, very clean and well maintained. Can be a little confusing to navigate within the park as there are few signs. Clean bathrooms and a cafe at the visitors center.
Jill B — Google review
This park is the biggest disappointment ever! Don't go there, it is waste of time and energy. Map at the entrance is very missleading. Many routes are closed and from view points you have view to bushes... There is only one point from which flamingos are visible but there are very far away. Photos here on google seem like you are going to be next to flamingo, but there were simply done with good photocamera...

Castello di San Michele Cagliari, a 12th-century fortified castle, now serves as the City Center of Art & Culture. The area has a rich Christian history dating back to the 3rd century, with Bishop Lucifer of Cagliari being exiled for his opposition to a sentence at the Synod of Milan. The castle district is the oldest and highest part of Cagliari, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's ancient past.
Nice castle and park. Stunning views from the top. Many benches 😊
Waldek — Google review
Very small castle located on the highest part of Cagliari. The walk up to the castle is a KILLER, and there is no shade at all or someplace to sit, so if visiting during spring/summer, water is a necessity. I would suggest going by car as there is a parking area just a few meters away. Having said all that, the view up the hill is marvellous. The castle itself is very small, and it showcases life during variois periods, especially what people used to wear along the centuries.
Dana F — Google review
Castle is on the top of the almost tree-less hill / dont take the hike in the middle of sunny day! ;) The views are top and the walk from the bus took us around 20mins to the top including taking pictures. The castle entrance fee was 4E and additional 2E for guide. Our guy was David - and the be honest without the guide it is pointless to go there, since all descriptions are in italian (unless you speak italian of course). We enjoyed the visit and many interesting information about the castle and sardinia itself. The building is not that big, so dont expect like huge fortress or so.
Krzysztof K — Google review
There is nothing to see inside at this time. Almost all exhibits are covered. It's not even worth the 4€ per visit. The surroundings and the outside are beautiful. You don't have to pay for it.

It's a bit outside the city centre, but you can get here by bus. There is no shade, so dress accordingly and bring water if you come in the summer months (and can be very windy in wintertime...)

Public beach
Sella del Diavolo, also known as the 'Saddle of the Devil,' is a saddle-shaped promontory in Cagliari, Sardinia. The area is characterized by a series of hills formed by calcareous sediments left by the sea's repeated intrusion. The modern city has developed between these hills and the sea to the south and southeast.
Nice hike for most everyone (once you arrive). Public transport will take you about 2 miles away you would have to walk the rest or via other transportation. For the adventurous folk you can climb down the back side.
J W — Google review
Hiking Sella del Diavolo this summer was an unforgettable experience. From the start, the salty sea breeze and the scent of wild herbs set the mood for adventure. The trail, though a bit challenging under the sun, was worth every step. As I climbed higher, the views became more breathtaking—endless turquoise waters, boats dotting the coast, and Cagliari in the distance. Reaching the top felt like standing on the edge of a dream. After the hike, I cooled off in the crystal-clear, warm sea below, a perfect reward. Floating there, gazing up at the cliffs, I felt pure happiness. Sella del Diavolo is a must-visit—a place where nature’s beauty leaves you speechless. If you're in Sardinia, don’t miss it!
Alessio M — Google review
Nice and not so difficult walk but amazing view point
Gasper M — Google review
Even ideal for an late afternoon run A nice promenade to the nearby sleeping lady mountain range. There is no official path to reach the peak, as the military base blocks the entire northern side. But following locals late afternoon, there are few wild path to lead you to the Sela del Diavolo, one of the ruins on this hill range. Searching for a path to reach to the peak, which seem to be the “official” hiking route, turned out to be non-existent. Ventured along the miliary base where I found a wild narrow path thru the forest to reach the top stone plateau. Fabulous view, 360 degrees … with some left over Roman Ruins and the famous nuraghe buildings, main type of ancient megalithic accommodation / towers dating back to the Nuragic Age between 1900 to 730 BC. Don’t miss to crowl thru some spikey cactuses to reach the chalk-cave, called Sella del Diavolo. There are approximately 7,000 nuraghes left in Sardinia today. Turning time back 4,000 years ago amongst such a scenery is truly a unique experience. The official path, flatter and easier-to-walk path, is leading to the Calamosca Beach. It was a Sunday, so the Disco tunes and party was on early afternoon till late night. Long queues, traffic jam and many happy party-lovers. Walking back to the Poetto beach took like 4 – 5 km … definitely a detour, but no other choice, unless driving by motorcycle or car.

Absolutely amazing place... just 20 minutes easy climbing from Calamosca side. Beautiful view, fresh air and feeling of history... 100% to visit! P.s. from the top i cant see the tiburones...

Amazing views on this 4.1km loop hike, worth the effort. Some moderately challenging sections on the full loop, but the zig zag trail section is more straight forward. Many exposed sections of high cliff along loop trail at eastern side so caution is required.

Incredible view! You must visit this place if you are in Cagliari! On sundays there is a bus (number 5/11) comes here very frequent from Cagliari center. The hike is medium level about 30-40min to reach the top. It totaly worths!
Cansel K — Google review
We went there early morning to have a walk and there were not so many people. It is a peaceful and relaxing place where you can spend some time away from the city but not too far away. Reaching the top was the best part where you get a panoramic view of Poetto lungo mare and some part of Cagliari, part of the Cala Mosca on the right. The climb was not too steep and there are some tables and a covered structure (like a concrete cottage) where you can have a picnic located on the top.

This is an amazing gem in Cagliari. The prices are honest. The rooms are super clean. They provide everything. The place is 15 minutes walk to Piazza Yenne during the day whilst a park which is a cut through is open. During the night is a 25 minutes walk back. I think it’s in a great location. Fabio was over the top with his service, always ensuring everything is perfect and always asking if something is needed and if everything is okay. They provide cleaning service for every day and there is free WiFi. I highly recommend this, I would give this place 10/10 or higher if I could. Thank you for making this holiday great, I really appreciate it.

In the historic Castello quarter of Cagliari, Italy stands the impressive Torre dell'Elefante, a 14th-century limestone tower adorned with a sculpted elephant. Closed for renovation works for some time, it has now reopened to the public. Built as part of the city's medieval defenses by the Pisans, it offers visitors memorable views over the port and sea. The tower is an important piece of medieval engineering and provides a glimpse into Cagliari's rich history.
This is a huge, impressive tower that incredibly was built in 1307. It would give you incredible views over Cagliari ... if it wasn't closed for renovation work (July 2025). Still good to look at from outside though.
David S — Google review
The Torre dell'Elefante (1307) stands on the ramparts of Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy. The tower was built during a period of Pisan domination to defend against the threat of an Aragonese invasion. The tower defended the western entrance to the Quartiere Castello of medieval Cagliari. A retractable draw gate controlled access to the medieval city from the lower town. The sculpture of an elephant to the left of the gate gave the tower its name.
David S — Google review

The Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari is a significant historical site dating back to the 2nd century. It boasts extensive subterranean remains and is part of a larger complex that includes prehistoric Domus de Janas, a Carthaginian-era necropolis, Byzantine basilica, Pisan-era towers, and fortifications from the Spanish Habsburg imperial era.
Pitty that the amphitheater was closed when I arrived, also from outside looked great. Entrance fee is 3€/person
Marek K — Google review
Very disappointed that such an amazing piece of history isn’t given more attention. The site was undergoing “renovations” when we arrived and this restricted access to the site, however there wasn’t much evidence of renovation, and there wasn’t any clearly defined access paths past where we had to stop, so I don’t know how they would protect the amphitheatre which last tourists visited. The €4 entry fee was very cheap, but you can see everything from outside the fence line, so don’t bother. There needs to be a serious injection of cash into this historical site to protect it and make it more attractive and accessible for tourists.
The H — Google review
This place has so much potential but unfortunately it is not well used. The entrance ticket is 3 EUR but it is worth the money because you get as close as possible to the amphitheater. Overall, I sincerely hope that the authorities will implement something to make the place accessible to the general public because it can become very popular with a little bit of investment preserving it
Goran A — Google review
Worth visiting, it is a small ticket price and very little to sea but you get a short history lesson from the ticket seller.
Happy O — Google review
Sadly we didn't have time to go in a look at the exhibition and site. As we were just driving through. But the antiquity of the place was splendid. We parked for free right by it. And there were views from the side. Go up hill and and across to get to the old town. Magnificent views
Sarah I — Google review
Unfortunately, people are not allowed to get close or enter the underground areas until further notice as they have been deemed unsafe. But you still must pay for tickets to walk a few feet down a narrow walkway by the ticket booth near the entrance. We were allowed stand by the booth to look and take pictures without purchasing.
YouTube U — Google review
The place is in an ok shape but not wonderfully preserved. You can’t go in the ruins, only see them from the top or the bottom. That makes it not worth it to pay the entrance fee, just walk around it.
Thibaut — Google review
I went to visit the amphitheatre within the stated opening time, arriving with 30 minutes to spare at 16.30. Unfortunately the staff, who were rude and uncompromising told me that there wasn’t much to see and also that they had closed the till and therefore I could not pay the €3 to walk down a 50 meter path to have a closer look at the ancient amphitheatre. This was despite me travelling there, arriving within the advertised time and for a typical entrance, according to them, lasting about 5 minutes. I would have left long before the closing time. The staff seemed more keen to finish work early than to accommodate visitors to this historic site of Cagliari.

Over the centuries, it has witnessed various dominations and influences, leaving an indelible mark on its architectural structure and cultural significance. Located in the heart of the old town within the il Castello complex, this opulent palace now hosts exhibitions, concerts, and public visits.

Clean bathrooms. Get your tickets to the right as you enter. Attendants check all guests who ascend the stairway.

The Museo archeologico nazionale, located within the Citadel in Cagliari, Sardinia, is a significant museum complex that offers a comprehensive exploration of the island's ancient history. The museum houses an extensive collection of archaeological exhibits, including Punic jewelry, ceramics, bronzes, and Byzantine coins. It provides a complete overview of Sardinia's history from the prehistoric era to the Roman and medieval ages.
Free on the first Sunday of every month, but would be well worth the cost of entry. It teaches the 5000+ year history of Sardinia and Cagliari very effectively. English and Italian displays throughout. They have recreated some artifacts for people to hold. They have also restored some artifacts using plain materials and glass/plastic to demonstrate where the fragments would be on a complete item, I think that is a very effective way of displaying these items and more museums should follow this approach.
Asa-Jai F — Google review
A must-visit for anyone interested in ancient history. The museum offers a well-curated journey through prehistoric to Roman times. The highlight is the impressive collection of Nuragic bronze statuettes. Also worth seeing are the Neolithic artifacts, Punic and Roman finds. It is not so big. You will need a little bit more than one and a half hours. Recommend to visit.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a well-done museum, not as big as some of the larger cities, but very comprehensive, covering prehistory up until the Middle ages. The ramps and staircases can be a little bit confusing as you start at the most ancient and hopefully end up at the most recent. Currently it is €10.

Also, we went to the archeological site of Tharros for a lyrical concert, and again, we found here the Giants of Tharros. Highly recommended! And the neighborhood is beautiful, too! With nice restaurants and cafes nearby.
Patrizia B — Google review
Nice museum if you're interested in the history of Sardinia and the Romans. We were there with our children (ages 7 and 9), but that was not appreciated by a very rude female staff member. It was clear that this rude woman did not tolerate children. A real shame, because children are exactly the ones you can teach something about history — but unfortunately, this woman didn’t think so and made that clear by staring at us with wide eyes and constantly following us around. So, if you're going with your children, be warned. If you're not with children, then it's definitely recommended.
Elias K — Google review
’m not really a museum person. Still, on a sunny midday, it’s not a bad idea to slip into a pleasant one – cool air, quiet halls, and treasures of the past: ancient finds, statuettes, sculptures. This museum unfolds across several floors with hidden corners and passages and of course stairs (there are in Cagliari everywhere), so you definitely won’t get bored. And somewhere between the air conditioning and the timeless artifacts, it suddenly becomes clear why Sardinia is such a unique place you won’t find anywhere else in the world.”

Tuvixeddu necropolis, located on a large hillside, is an archaeological site featuring Carthaginian and Roman burial chambers. This ancient burial ground, over 2,500 years old and built by the Phoenicians, showcases unearthed decorations and riches from the site. The Romans also established their own nearby burial ground.
I stumbled upon the Necropolis simply because it was near my accommodation. Entrance is free although there is a friendly receptionist - who kindly let me leave a large bag at reception while I wandered about. The large site is full of graves dating back to the 6th century BC together with the quarry where some of the stones were presumably unearthed. An amazing, strange place
David S — Google review
The site is disappointing as a historical attraction. While the green areas are well maintained and it’s nice for a short walk, the archaeological site itself is neglected. Some paths are closed, there is no information about the history, and it feels more like a park for dog walking than a place of cultural importance. A treasure like this deserves much better care and attention.

The Monumental Cemetery of Bonaria is located in Cagliari, on a limestone hill with tombs and charnel houses. It was inaugurated in 1829 and designed by Damiani and Cima architects. The cemetery features sculptures from Sardinian and Italian artists, showcasing various styles from Neoclassical to Art Nouveau. The site holds historical significance as it was built on an ancient graveyard used during Carthaginian-Roman and early-Christian times.
A fascinating way to spend a morning in Cagliari, avoiding the midday heat (it closes most days at 1300). Some huge family tombs up high, looking down on those below. Docile cats snooze away and lizards scurry between the graves. An insight into the Sardinian way of life and death. Free entry.
Ganu G — Google review
Very big cemetery with a rich history. There are many interesting graves and statues that are worth seeing. It’s a pity that many of them are not taken care of. A few of them have even collapsed. The upper floors of the cemetery were closed when I was there. Still, I recommend visiting this monumental cemetery!
Vlad M — Google review
You can learn a lot about a place by visiting cemeteries. Art, culture, society, religion... You name it. When coming across this cemetery we decided we wanted to visit it within seconds. I dropped by on a Saturday, asking for a tour after reading on Google that it is recommended to join one. I was asked to come back tomorrow. After a quick stroll (which further intrigued my interest) I went home to come back the following day. The next day a young woman greeted us and gave us a free tour in English. She didn't mind that we were just two people. She showed us around and told us about the history of the cemetery and how it is connected with art and Cagliari's citizens. She told us about the tragedy of little Efisino, the sad destiny of two early pioneers of Sardignias feminism and the mysterious disappearance of one of Italy's famous sculptors - amongst many other things. Also she advised us on how to best handle the gulls that use the cemetery as a breeding place and can become quite defensive of their young. A survival skill that I'm sure will come in useful, sooner or later. 🐤 Thank you again for this amazing (free!!) tour! ❤️ The graveyard itself is mesmerising. It lies within walking distance of the city center, yet offers a unique calmness, that stands in stark contrast with the buzzing city life. When visiting you can feel the urgency of restoration. As a mere visitor all I can say is that I hope that there will be ways of funding the restoration and preservation of this place. Letting it fall apart would be a huge loss, not only to Sardignia, but to history in general.
Anja — Google review
The Monumental Cemetery of Bonaria lies on the homonymous hill. The cemetery opened in 1829 and boasts sculptures of Sardinian artists as well as from the rest of Italy, who were active from the middle of the 19th to the early 20th century. The styles vary from the Neoclassical, Realism to the Symbolism and Art Nouveau.

A lovely gallery overlooking Cagliari, next to the wonderful cathedral. The Inge Morath photography exhibition was expertly curated, with the illustrated story of her fascinating life told in the many different rooms of the gallery. Public beach
Spiaggia di Cala Fighera is a secluded and picturesque beach located along the rugged coastline of Sardinia. Accessible via a coastal track, this hidden gem is popular among naturist tourists and offers a wood deck with umbrellas available for rent. According to local legend, the promontory overlooking the beach was formed when Lucifer's saddle petrified after being thrown off by Archangel Michael during an attempt to conquer the beautiful Gulf of Cagliari.
I went from the top of the hill, becaise i was just there, which is not easy, access from the road side (restaurant) is quicker but. Beautiful small beach with crystal clear water. Fyi ... it is nudist beach.

This place is forbidden by law. You can not go there. It is dangerous and legally forbidden. Do not go there. You can get fined too. If you are afraid of hights and weak flipflops - avoid. There are people rambling around but there is a sign telling that it is forbidden. The path is unmarked and you can die there.
Veera Z — Google review
It is easy to get here by car, but to climb the top requires about 5 minutes of self-care, it is not signposted so just follow your instincts and you will be rewarded with some of those dream photos of Serdenia
Sergio O — Google review
It is illegal to be there. I went there today and got a 200€ fine. I didn’t see any signs but the police arrived on a boat and fined everybody that was there. But it is a beautiful bay. Arriving on a boat should be allowed
Klmns K — Google review
Worth the hike! We did it in flip flops and were fine. Agree with others that the easiest way to get there is to head towards La Paillotte and then take the path up the rocks from there. It's not marked but pretty well tread so it was relatively easy to follow. Had to scramble at some parts but not many. The water in the cove is deep and refreshing, protected from the wind. It's a rocky beach, good for snorkeling. And despite some recent reviews, yes, it is still a nudist beach. There were a mix of naturalists and fully clothed people when we visited. There are cliff jumping opportunities as well. Really lovely water to swim in.
Sam K — Google review
Very beautiful and secluded beach. It’s a perfect place for nudist lovers. However, the way to get there is very difficult. So I recommend wearing running shoes and take enough water since until you get there, you’ll be exhausted. Also, I advise you to get here by the path near Calamosca beach (that way is faster)
Olga A — Google review
Incredible beach ! Though difficult to access you are rewarded by a beautiful landscape and clear water. There is not too many people as you need to do quite a trek to go there, but just fyi it's a nudist beach. I really loved it. No shade so bring your umbrella.

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is a stunning 13th-century cathedral located in Cagliari, Sardinia. Originally built as a church dedicated to Santa Cecilia, it was later elevated to the rank of cathedral during the Aragonese domination. The cathedral boasts a graceful Gothic exterior and a lavish interior adorned with baroque decor. Inside, visitors can explore the vast marble pulpit and crypt containing royal tombs.
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is truly a hidden gem and an architectural marvel that left me absolutely amazed. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of spiritual tranquility and artistic beauty. The cathedral’s exterior, with its classic Romanesque style, immediately captures your attention, but it’s the interior that truly takes your breath away. The play of light through the stained glass windows creates a serene and almost mystical atmosphere. Every corner is rich with detail—elaborate frescoes, intricate carvings, and a sense of sacred history that seems to whisper through the stone walls. The combination of devotion and artistry is overwhelming in the best possible way. You can sense the centuries of faith and community that have built and sustained this sacred place. The altar, dedicated to both the Virgin Mary and Saint Cecilia, is particularly moving. Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, adds a poetic touch to the ambiance—you almost expect to hear distant organ music resonating through the air. Whether you’re religious or not, this cathedral offers a powerful experience. It’s not just a place of worship, but a testament to human creativity and devotion. I highly recommend a visit—it’s nothing short of extraordinary.

The outside doesn’t look like much but the inside is breathtaking. It is big, highly decorated and the crypt is nice. The marble statues and pillars are incredibly beautiful. You can enter for free and give a small price for the crypt.
Thibaut — Google review
Beautiful baroque church. Please be mindful of your attire when you enter. There is a crypt under the altar that you can visit- entrance is on the left side and exit on the right. There is a shop by the left side that sells some rosaries and other stuff, very affordable and highly recommend. We parked infront of the church, just after the steps, only park if you are a small car (smart, fiat panda, hyundai i10). Otherwise, there are designated parking area or you risk blocking the road.

If you’re in Cagliari, you shouldn’t miss the Cathedral. It’s not only a religious and historical landmark, but also a fascinating mix of architectural styles, scenic views, an atmospheric crypt, and a sense of deep history. The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia on Piazza Palazzo in Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy, was originally built in the Pisan Romanesque style in the 13th century. Baroque alterations from the 18th century were replaced in the 1930s. The ornate 17th century mausoleum of Martin the Younger of Sicily (1374-1409) is in the transept. Marble lions flank the stairway into the presbytery. The lions were originally part of a 12th century pulpit by Master Guglielmo of Pisa.

First, the pros: a beautiful terrace with an impressive view. Now the cons: the staff, who don't even notice you. The food is delicious, but for the price, you expect more. You pay for the view, sure, but the food and atmosphere are totally not worth the price. I won't be repeating it.

Prepare to be mesmerized by the captivating beauty of Giardini Pubblici, Cagliari's pristine public garden! These well-manicured gardens are a breath of fresh air in the city, and what truly sets them apart is their graffiti-free surroundings – a rare find in urban public spaces. Upon entering the northwest corner of the gardens, you'll be greeted by the Galleria Comunale d'Arte, a small but charming fountain, and a collection of fascinating sculptures. As you wander deeper into the gardens, you'll encounter an array of stunning roses and various other flower species that create a truly enchanting atmosphere. The absolute highlight for me was the awe-inspiring magnolia tree, which is easily one of the largest I've ever seen. Its majestic presence is impossible to miss, and it adds an extra touch of magic to the gardens. The views from Giardini Pubblici are nothing short of spectacular. Overlooking the city, this vantage point offers stunning photo opportunities both day and night. The gardens are open from 6 AM until midnight, allowing you ample time to soak in the breathtaking scenery. For those with a taste for adventure, the southeast corner of the park is home to S'Avanzada Climbing Cagliari. This fantastic facility offers rock climbing walls for enthusiasts, making it the perfect place to challenge yourself and embrace your inner daredevil. A beautiful Church and there are working the friendliest people ever! With its impressive paintings, it’s worth to go.

Interesting and beautiful church, worth visiting! Free entry. The schedule is a bit weird so keep in mind that it might be closed while online they say it’s open.

Always closed. Never got the chance to visit it. A pity.

Bed & breakfast
The Cagliari Old Town Bed & Breakfast is nestled in the heart of Old Cagliari, a captivating maze of narrow streets divided into four lively districts: Castello, Marina, Stampace e Villanova. The oldest district, Castello, rises 100m above sea level and offers stunning views. Guests praise the B&B's prime location near bars, restaurants, shops, and the harbor. The host's exceptional service includes arranging activities and providing valuable local tips.
Stayed at The Cagliari Old Town B & B for 5 nights with my partner in August / September. Can not recommend this place highly enoight. Great location, super clean, excellent host and very good breakfast each morning. Stefano the host was so good to us, he arranged football tickets, booked tables in restaurants for us and recommend great beaches for us to visit. B & B is very close to all bars, restaurants and shops including the square. Everything is literally a few minutes walk.

Exceptional stay – more than 5 stars! If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Our experience at Old Town Cagliari B&B was outstanding in every way. Stefano is a truly fantastic host—warm, helpful, and full of local tips that made our trip even more special. Whether through messages or in person, he was always available and flexible, tailoring suggestions to our plans. The breakfast was a real highlight: delicious, fresh, and made with genuine care. You can tell a lot of love goes into everything here. The room and common areas were spotless—probably the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed. You immediately feel comfortable and at home. If you're visiting Cagliari, don’t think twice—this is the place to stay. Grazie mille, Stefano!

Stefano’s B&B was perfect for us - well located, a great room, and a lovely breakfast too. Stefano has thought of everything to help provide his guests with a great experience in both the B&B and Cagliari - clear communication, great instructions on location/check in, helpful tips and even beach towels and an umbrella for a day by the sea. Would highly recommend this place.

I really enjoyed my stay at Cagliari Old Town, it’s conveniently located by the harbour and walking distance to the central railway station of Cagliari. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and small shops in the area, many of the city landmarks can be reached on foot. The bus that brings you to Poetto beach stops just across the street. The B&B is sparkling clean and my room was spacious and comfortable with all the necessities even for a longer stay. I was warmly welcomed and perfectly cared during my stay, and got tons of advices and recommendations to help me having a very good time in Sardegna. Definitely will come back.
