Fish and chips takeaway
Leo Burdock Christchurch is a long-standing establishment in Dublin, serving up classic takeaway fish 'n' chips, along with burgers and a kids' menu. The small no-frills spot in the Christchurch neighborhood has been operating since 1913 and remains popular among both locals and tourists. Despite its limited seating and often long queues, it continues to draw in crowds eager for its freshly battered fish and golden fries.
Really great fish and chips. This location is a takeout only store but I realized they have another dine in outlet in temple bar. Service was fast. Big serving of Cod fish and LOTS of fries. The ultimate taste test is in the takeaway and I am happy to report that the fish was still crispy when I brought it back to my hotel apartment 8mins walk later. 😀

They asked if I wanted vinegar, I muttered an unsure yes, and boom, it turned out to be one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The only downside: they’re take-out only, so we had to find a spot to eat. It turned into a bit of an adventure, crouched on a street bench, praying no birds would strike, struggling with greasy fingers and even greasier food. The serving was huge. The fish sat on a mountain of chips (way too many chips, honestly), with barely enough tartar sauce to go around. Easily enough for two, maybe even three or four low-appetite Asians, haha. I was genuinely surprised I liked it as much as I did. I'm not usually a fan of fish and chips. I only came because it’s said to be Dublin’s first chipper. But the fish was fresh, and that splash of vinegar really brought it all together. Twas an unexpected happy meal.
Faith L — Google review
This spot is one of Dublin’s iconic places for fish and chips, so I made a point to walk over and grab some. It’s takeout only—no dine-in. Luckily, there was no line when I went and the food came out super fast. I ordered the classic cod fish and chips and took it to a nearby park to enjoy. The fish was huge and definitely filling, but the chips were a bit on the soft side—I personally would’ve liked them fried a little longer for that extra crunch. The portion size was generous, though the overall flavor was a bit mild. All in all, a solid experience!
Carrie G — Google review
Great delicious fish indeed. Worth the wait and worth the price. The portions are good for sharing. Note: Although all orders are takeaway, there is plenty of outdoor seating nearby to enjoy the food.
Mike A — Google review
Great staff with personality and very generous portions with quality fish! It's take away only so here are a few suggestions if you like crispy fish and chips ... 1. Vinegar adds flavor but adds moisture. 2. It's wrapped well in paper to keep it warm but it also keeps the moisture in so try to not to wait too long to eat it. Really enjoyed the food but not crispy except for the end pieces because I wanted Vinegar and we walked slowly to St Patrick's to eat in the park. I'm guessing it would have been a 5/5 on food if I had the food closer and added the vinegar myself just before eating it but that's just a guess so rated 4/5.
Brian H — Google review
Finally made it to Leo Burdock after wanting to visit for years, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The fish and chips were outstanding — perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky inside, and full of flavor. Simple, authentic, and exactly what you hope for in a classic Dublin experience. Friendly service, great portions, and that old-school charm that makes it a true local legend.
Eric M — Google review
I had my first fish and chips here on the tour guide's recommendation. I think I had smoked cod, and they asked me if I wanted vinegar on it. I was a bit hesistant, but boy, it was sooooo good. It was nothing like fried fish in the states. The portion was quite generous as well.
Chloe P — Google review
This takeout only joint hits the spot if you are looking for local fish & chips. The fish is delightfully crispy. The fries are average but the fish, delicious. Cute t-shirts too. A must try in Dublin.

Fish & chips restaurant
Wine bar
Fish Shop in Smithfield offers an elevated fish and chip experience with a selection of sustainably sourced species from Irish coastal waters like hake, haddock, brill, and plaice. The menu includes small plates such as oysters and smoked haddock croquettes, along with a choice of beer-battered catch of the day. The cozy restaurant also features a highly selective wine list and is popular among industry professionals.
This is a tiny spot—just 12 bar seats—but it delivers everything you’d expect from a starred restaurant. The service is friendly, the food is excellent, and the oysters were unbelievably fresh. But the real star of the night was the fish and chips: clean, crispy, and perfectly flaky inside. Honestly, one of the best I’ve had. With such limited seating, a reservation is highly, highly recommended. I saw them turn away quite a few walk-ins while I was there.
Tony Y — Google review
Small restaurant focusing primarily on upmarket fish and chips, nice selection of starters and the other main option on the evening we visited was lobster. Nice atmosphere, wines by the glass were a bit limited and overall a pleasant experience. Fish and chips were incredible to be fair. Booking recommended given how small it is.
Jj C — Google review
The food we had was extremely delicious. We came across the restaurant coincidentally because our hotel was nearby. Luckily! We ordered an extra garlic mayonnaise which was also the best one I‘ve ever had. We took the food to our hotel because the restaurant is very very small without normal tables. Though, they used their available space very well. I definitely recommend.
Anne H — Google review
Delicious! Went there for dinner, and my husband got the fish and chips (which he loved). We shared the calamari and grilled fish and ended with lemon posset for dessert. Everything was tasty. The service was also fantastic, so friendly and kind. Would 100% recommend! We recommend making a reservation as it was quite busy when we arrived.
Tanya G — Google review
This is one of my favorite spots in town for a quick lunch. The space is small, with an open layout and a clean design that gives you a good idea of what the menu is all about. There are no tables—just high stools at the counter and around the room—so I wouldn’t recommend it for large groups. It’s perfect for two people, or four at most. The best word to describe the menu is simplicity: dishes are mainly dressed with butters and oils, achieving perfection in every bite. The wine list is beautiful, with plenty of white options (as you’d expect from a place that specializes in fish) but also something for every taste. And without a doubt, they serve the best fish and chips in town.
Gabo V — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I booked a table and my calendar clearly showed the reservation at 5:15. I arrived a little early, at 5:00, but the staff told me my booking was at 4:00 and that 5:15 was actually the leaving time. That made no sense and stupid because no one should put leaving time in the boo king to make guest confused. To make matters worse, they told me they had tried to call me, but when I explained I hadn’t received any call, the staff changed the story and said my number was too complicated to dial. During this whole time, the restaurant had around nine empty seats, yet they still refused to let me stay and insisted that I leave. This is not the first time — just two days ago, I also came spontaneously when the restaurant was nearly empty, and they still refused to serve me. At first, I thought it might have been a misunderstanding of reservations , but after this second incident, it feels much more like discrimination, especially since I am Asian. There is no reason why a paying customer with a confirmed booking should be treated this way. It was disrespectful, unprofessional, and left me feeling unwelcome. Update : After being turned away, I went to a nearby tapas restaurant. Even though they were busy, they welcomed me warmly without a booking with Irish hospitality, treated me like family, and even introduced me to great food. Most importantly, they respected me. I am more than willing to pay a lot for good food and good service and this fish shop lost more than 100 euro for the weird system but I guess the staff there did not care much and the owner also. In conclusion, if you are looking for something authentic with a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, this place is ABSOLUTELY NOT the right option.
B S — Google review
Aside from the price point, this is a MUST-visit while in Dublin. The atmosphere is great, the staff were warm and friendly, and the food was truly delightful. That said, the value just isn’t there for me—it’s definitely on the expensive side. €5 for four small slices of bread and a tin of butter was hard to overlook. Plus the scallops were a bit on the chewy side. Overall, I’d still recommend it for the experience, supporting local and for delicious fish and chips, but be prepared for higher prices.
Larry J — Google review
Delicious fish and chips. Quick, friendly service - seriously our food came out so fast! Two words: MAKE RESERVATIONS. We saw so many people get turned away because they didn't have a reservation (also, no takeaway!) This place is SMALL so they can only seat/serve something like 15 people at a time so make that reservation or you'll most likely miss out

Beshoff Bros Mespil Road is a delightful gem in Dublin's vibrant culinary scene, offering a unique twist on the classic fish and chips experience. With its signature turquoise shopfront, this location embodies an exclusive charm that sets it apart from typical chippers. Established over 70 years ago, Beshoff Bros has become more than just a dining spot; it's a beloved institution with multiple branches across the city, including Clontarf and Malahide.
Food quality was top, Staff friendly and double checked with me I had no allergies. The portion size is very generous, should have ordered small just about finished it. I got there bit late but staff were still welcoming
Kamal R — Google review
Nothing fancy, just great fish and chips. Very reasonable price for the quality and quantity of food per order. They have a great selection of items on the menu. The prawns and calamari are a must try. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Rick D — Google review
We decided to have a take away and return to the hotel. By the time we returned, the fish was still crisp and golden, the batter light, the chips thick and fluffy. Simple pleasures, impeccably done.
Lucy W — Google review
This was really bad fish and chips. The outlet has a great advertising hook with "That seagull just flew off with me Beshoffs!", but the fish - hake was soggy suggesting a frozen fillet, the chips had no seasoning and the calamari was stringy, chewy and tasted like it was double fried in week old oil 🤢🤮 I'm giving 1 star only because I cannot give zero stars.... avoid this place!
Liesl S — Google review
A good place for your typical Fish and Chips experience. Very cheap and affordable prices. We were lucky to get the Two Hake for One offer - literally the cheapest lunch in Dublin.
Roland N — Google review
I tried 2 types of fish and both were well cooked but unsatisfying in terms of taste. The calamari rings had barely any taste. Even with an abundance of salt I could barely taste the fish. I was expecting the smoked hake to have a more noticeable taste but I found it bland and probably mostly given by the seasoning out on the fish than from a real smoking process. I was originally thinking of eating inside but all tables gave me a sense of dirt that made me feel uncomfortable about sitting there. I preferred to eat outdoor even if the weather was not ideal.
Francesco B — Google review
Fast and tasty, enormous portion, couldnt finish it
Sisa D — Google review
If you're Australian expecting crunchy chips, you can forget that since it's just the Irish way not to do them super crispy. Once you get past that hurdle, the battered cod is great, as good as any Aussie fish n chipper and you'd be happy with it. Someone ordered hake, that was not so good - stick with the classic. This gets 5 because more fish n chippers in Dublin should aspire to get their fish and chips to the level of the battered cod here.

SOLE Seafood & Grill is an upscale venue that offers carefully sourced meat and seafood dishes, along with a variety of cocktails and wine. Situated on William Street, this restaurant provides an ultimate dining experience in a chic environment with warm, bronze, and grey tones that exude urban sophistication.
Cannot say enough good things about our experience at SOLE! The online booking process was easy and the team was very accommodating as we were a bit late due to the weather. We shared the mussels, which everyone enjoyed, and they were well balanced between fresh and flavorful. The scallops were incredible and I will definitely get them next time I'm there! My partner who prefers steak over fish thought the steak was cooked to perfection. The Guinness cake was also great and wasn’t too heavy! Wallie was an amazing server and provided strong attention to detail throughout our time there!
Michaela — Google review
Lovely atmosphere and enjoyable food! We had a great time here. Some of us went for the early bird menu, which offers great value for money, while others opted for the lobster and the vegetarian dishes. The vegetarian options were decent, though they could be improved to better reflect the overall quality of the place. The highlights were definitely the mussels and the Guinness cake—both were absolutely delicious! All in all, a very pleasant dining experience.
Violeta M — Google review
We had the most amazing evening at SOLE Seafood & Grill in Dublin. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcomed — the staff were warm, attentive, and really made the experience special without ever being over the top. The food was just incredible. We started with oysters — so fresh and full of flavor — and the oyster tempura, which was crispy, light, and absolutely delicious. The prawn cocktail was perfect, a classic done right, and the mussels were plump and cooked in a broth we couldn’t get enough of. The seafood chowder was rich, creamy, and comforting — honestly one of the best we’ve had. And the highlight of the night? The Sole Meunière. Cooked to perfection, buttery, delicate, and absolutely bursting with flavor. Every bite was a treat. The whole evening felt like such a celebration of fresh Irish seafood. The food, the atmosphere, the service — everything came together perfectly. If you love seafood (or even if you just want to try some of the best Dublin has to offer), do yourself a favor and book a table here. We can’t recommend SOLE enough!
Omar R — Google review
We ordered the much-anticipated Seafood Tower (€137): a stunning mix of hot and cold delights. The top tier featured warm lobster and mussels, while the bottom showcased chilled classics (oysters, prawns, and smoked salmon) all fresh and flavorful. The combination of hot and cold seafood worked beautifully together. A special mention for the fresh sourdough bread, don’t be shy about taking two or three slices to soak up those delicious sauces. For drinks, my wife enjoyed a glass of vintage brut Champagne (€38), while I paired the tower with a New Zealand Cabernet Sauvignon, both choices complemented the meal perfectly. For dessert, we indulged in the house specialty: the Guinness Cake, a rich Guinness-infused sponge with white-chocolate and coffee ganache, cacao nibs, and toasted almonds. We rounded off the evening with a glass of port wine, a lovely finish to the meal. That said, the service didn’t quite match the food. Our server seemed new and a bit unsure, and it was surprising that a restaurant of this caliber didn’t offer more experienced server. While the food and drinks were excellent, the service slightly dampened the overall experience. Still, come for the fantastic seafood, especially that tower, and enjoy the fine drink pairings. Hopefully, you’ll have a smoother service experience than we did!
Corey T — Google review
Excellent restaurant in the center of the city. The place is well decorated. The staff is welcoming and professional. They offer a good variety of meat and fish dishes. We had fish for our dinner and they were all well cooked and prepared.the quality of the ingredients was very good. We had a bottle of champagne, but they also have a cocktail bar, and I could see very nice cocktails being prepared. Considering the quality of the food prices are reasonable.
Filippo C — Google review
Delicious meal this evening at Sole. Started with the delicate crab claws, then we shared the sea bass and sole meunière which was expertly deboned tableside for us. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Add to that the elegant interior and professional service, we had a wonderful evening. The menu is pricey, €60 for the sole, but we shared it between two and the taste was worth the price if you’re looking for a special occasion treat.
Sophie B — Google review
Great restaurant. Classy place nice layout and the food was incredible. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Diverse menus and everything that came out of the kitchen was beautiful on the table. Our server was not the best but the manager was able to make us feel like they cared and were treated well by everyone.

The best meal I have had in a long time. I got the early bird special, three course menu and chose mussels, roasted monk fish, and Guinness cake. For the quality and portion sizes, it was very reasonably priced. Service was efficient and kind. Highly recommend for fresh, local Irish seafood.

Food is unbelievable. Staff are really friendly. Fast service highly recommend this place ❤️ I'll definitely be back 😁💯

Haven't had in a long time , and massively disappointed, brought the food home to find my smoked coley cremated , fish is closer to chicken texture , called up to try rectify and told there's nothing that can be done till tomorrow, shocking customer care really for the prices yous are charging
Gar F — Google review
Ordered three cod and chips and was very disappointed. One portion was tiny, and the batter on all three was overcooked and too hard — my elderly family members had to eat the fish out of the batter. Chips were fine, but overall poor quality for the price and reputation. I contacted the shop but the reply felt like a generic script, not a real acknowledgement of the issues. Very disappointing. We won’t be back and I don’t recommend — especially surprising for a seafront restaurant with such a reputation.
Ela A — Google review
This shop is disgusting and the staff is very rude. The fish & chips features more batter than fish and tastes just like frying oil. On top of that, they are messy and disrespectful of the neighbourhood, littering mountains of organic waste and used oil everywhere
William T — Google review
Just tried to order Cod and Chips. Made them aware I am allergic to Shellfish (I.e. prawns etc). They said they cook it all together so they can't provide me with fish. I'm sure this isn't compliant with FSAI or HSE allergen control guidelines. Also, this is just poor service. I've never experienced this elsewhere.
Gareth S — Google review
Food delivery never arrived, cancelled after two hours waiting and two phone calls with the restaurant. Driver seemed to have gone awol - I’ve had nice food from here before, but as someone diabetic, where timing of food is important, I will never be ordering delivery from here again.

The Seafood Café by Niall Sabongi is a popular dining spot in Dublin, Ireland. Chef Niall Sabongi, known for his love of seafood and owner of Klaw, has garnered acclaim for this recent venture. The restaurant focuses on serving impeccably prepared Irish seafood in a laid-back atmosphere without being overly formal.
Wow, such a great experience in downtown Dublin. Food was fresh and delicious, the details were evident in not only the preparation but also in the creativity of the dishes. Oysters were gorgeous, but the breem steak with chicken butter was a delight, and perhaps one of the best things I have eaten in a while. The chef owner works the kitchen right in front of you (if you are at the counter) and the rest of the staff was helpful and timely. This is a small and cozy location and is very close to, but not too close, to the Temple Bar street. Just an all around, excellent experience!

This was hands down the best dinner I had during my 2 week visit to Ireland and I will not soon forget it. The Dublin Bay prawns were so fresh and delicious (and very messy)! I had never had double fried chips (fries) before and could not stop eating them. I can't remember the name of the dessert, but it had gooseberries and mascarpone and it was incredible! Our waitress was very nice and attentive and we enjoyed people watching in the outdoor seating.

Super fresh oysters and great service from Barry and the team. The space has a laid back feel with plenty of charm. Only negative note was the humongous amount of sliced garlic in the linguine, which I didn’t expect for a €30+ pasta dish. Nevertheless, would recommend (not to a vampire though), mussels were great and plate sizes were generous. Would recommend especially for the oysters, best ones on our Irish trip!

I had fairly high expectations from the raving reviews of this piece, but was still pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food was high and it was clear everybody was dedicated to and knowledgeable of their craft. The staff made the time and effort to introduce the menu, including their selection of locally sourced oysters. And they were some of the freshest and best oysters I've had in a while. Same goes for the lobster. The price point was very reasonable especially when considering the quality of the food and the service. Definitely would recommend

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the pleasure of having lunch at The Seafood Café by Niall Sabongi, and it was an amazing experience! I tried the linguine with crab, some scampi, and fresh crab claws — everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavour. The quality of the seafood was outstanding, and the service was exceptional: friendly, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what they do. We paired our meal with a French Chardonnay, and also enjoyed some Bloody Marys and other cocktails — all perfectly made. We’re already planning to come back on Monday for the Happy Hour with oysters and champagne. Definitely one of the best seafood spots in Dublin!
André D — Google review
We walked in and seated at the bar without a reservation on a late Sunday afternoon. The Sunday lunch menu cost 50e for the hake per person, which included two sides, two snacks, and a Bloody/Virgin Mary or Guinness. The snacks/starters of fried baby squid was delicious. The Greek style hake was really good, very happy with that. Our choice of sides (mashed potatoes & tomato salad) were both tasty but the fish had already been served with some potatoes & tomatoes so it was a bit overkill. We were stuffed before the dessert came out, which ended up being an incredible chocolate mousse. The staff were friendly & attentive. The restaurant itself is small, it probably seats about 20 customers inside and perhaps another dozen outside. There is just 1 toilet. I wasn't a fan of the automatic 10% "discretionary" service charge added to the bill, so my rating is not the full 5 stars.
John K — Google review
Excellent food; top quality, fresh ingredients. My only gripe would be that they only had Madri lager - something less brand / premium would have been nice. The service was really good; very attentive. Good atmosphere but it’s quite a small place so a little cramped. We sat in the window which was good for people watching but a little awkward when the tour groups stopped by as they were stood directly facing us trying oysters and watching us eat.
Daniel — Google review
I followed a YouTube recommendation to visit this place in Dublin. I might chosen the wrong items, but I was not happy with food while beer was very good, same as service and the vibe. Soup de poisson presenter by our server as Bouillabaisse, sounded so good, that we ordered 2 for us was nothing like the famous one. Small tasteless portion for 14 euros. Same with shrimps that we’re not any better then from Costco, but for high price, Be aware

Absolutely delicious. The quintessential chipper -- can't go wrong here. Big portions, amazing chips, good value for money.

ordered here today, got a kebab and chips and the picture really says it all itself. The size was the smallest i’ve ever seen, wouldn’t even feed a child, and the bag of chips were barely full either. The actual food was good but tiny portions for prices. The kebab was €8… never again.

Nice staff, quick takeaway. We got a ray and chips, and a cod and chips. Taste is good! Also gave us some tartare upon request

Fair play to the man running, remembered a lot of orders at the same time. Quick service. Unfortunately our chips weren’t fully cooked and curry sauce was water

My son and I love the food here, travelled from Naas to visit. There can be queues but it's worth it, food is piping hot. I don't eat fish so always go for chicken goujons but they are the best. The scampi is great. Very expensive though, I guess you pay for food quality food. (Always needs more salt and vinegar)
Lucy ( — Google review
Best fish and chips I’ve ever had! If you’re in Howth, skip the market options and come straight here, you won’t regret it. Just keep in mind, the portion is huge and comes with a ton of French fries, so sharing might be a good idea. If you’re looking for a place to sit and eat, this might not be the best spot since it only has a high table with no chairs. It’s more of a takeaway place.
Cristina — Google review
We got the 2 for 1 fish and chips offer. The quality and quantity of the food were very good value for money. The vibe the staff added to the place made waiting not as boring as you'd expect. Next to the beach and free parking but no fine in. Strongly recommended.

An absolute must and the best thing to eat after a hike in Howth! Fresh cut, THICK chips and crispy fish and scampi (shrimp). Service was quick and there are a lot of sauce and condiment options!

Would just say that everything was perfect. But I think they should work on their prices too dare. Must buy drinks from outside cause here you get two can of coke for around 7 euro.
Amarz — Google review
Good food in a great location right by the harbour. The fish was fresh and nicely cooked, and the chips were crisp and tasty — classic Irish comfort food done well. Service was friendly and quick even though it was busy, and everything was clean and well organised. That said, the prices are quite high for what you get, especially compared to other fish and chip spots around Dublin. Still, it’s a lovely place to treat yourself after a walk along the pier or a visit to the seals. Fresh, reliable, but definitely on the expensive side. 🐟🍟🌊

Octopussy's Seafood Tapas, located in Howth, Dublin, is a must-visit for seafood and Mediterranean cuisine enthusiasts. Owned by three experienced brothers with a background in fishing, the restaurant ensures fresh and expertly prepared seafood dishes. The establishment prides itself on offering tasty and affordable food, making it an ideal spot for lunch. With its fish supplied by a nearby seafood market operating fishing boats out of Howth, the quality of the seafood is top-notch.
One of the best places for try seafood in Dublin! Place is always crowded and you cannot book so get ready for waiting for a table. It’s a concept of tapas bar but you can order a separate dish as well, although I highly recommend ordering couple of tapas and share. We had amazing mussels, prawns, fish and more. Everything was tasty!
Julia L — Google review
Had a good sea food experience. If you planning to go during weekends specially during summer and sunny days, try to go early or be prepared to wait in the queue. Also it will take additional time to serve your food during the busy time. Love the Mussels, and the soup. Prawns are average tasty. Portions are generous. Good service 👍
Anuranga D — Google review
Sitting outside here is an experience on its own fresh sea breeze, views of the boats, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. I tried a few dishes from the menu and honestly everything was delicious. Super fresh seafood, perfectly cooked, with just the right touch of seasoning. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience here. The freshest and best seafood I’ve had. Customer service was also a 10/10. They are very busy so expect to wait in a line for about 20-30 mins. They also do not take reservations. Worth the wait and I can’t wait to come back and try more.
Sunshine C — Google review
The most amazing seafood restaurant in not just Howth, but Ireland! Everything is very fresh and made to order. The service is fantastic and very accommodating. Only downside is that you might have to wait, but everything good is worth waiting for, right? Best seafood chowder I’ve ever had… every bowl is made fresh with all types of fish, shrimp, mussels, and squid. I loved every bite alongside their truly homemade brown bread. We also ordered the scallops in garlic butter which were melt in your mouth out of this world. My only regret is that we didn’t try more. Can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in Howth.

This place is AWESOME. Tiny dining area inside with some outside seating. The 4 of us were able to snag the little room off to the side. It was cozy with pillows and covered benches. Excellent dishes - fish & chips and teriyaki salmon. Service was quick, friendly, and personable. We will be coming back!

We went today and the food was nice and fresh. The place wasn't busy at all and the service was ok. Everything seemed to be fine until Brazilian girl bring us the bill. I was surprised when I seen that I have to pay more than I expected simply because I know what we ordered and I already have the total in my head(including the tips for waiter). Then i seen that in the end of the bill was added 10% service charge which was really unexpected. This is our second time in 2 weeks and even we are living 65 km away we still decided to come back again. No any sign or notice in the menu that something was changed since then(regarding service charge). To be honest this really turns me away. I think that the customers should decide leave tips or not simply because this is not some fancy restaurant where 10% service charge is truly understandable. I'm really sorry guys but we never back again and I make sure all my family and friends will know about that. I can't recommend this place to everyone visiting Howth...

Wow, in the states trying to find gluten free fish in chips is near impossible. I had the gluten free cod fish and chips. They clarified they have a gluten free fryer and pretty much the entire menu can be prepared gluten free!
Emma F — Google review
We can in because my partner has celiac and they offer completely gluten free fish and chips. The food was incredible! Huge portions, great value. It’s a fast casual joint but the service was still great, very clean and crisp inside with the Irish decor vibes. The only downside is we sat upstairs and it was very hot despite being a comfortable 60 degrees outside; once we moved outside we felt much more comfortable. They also have a limited drink selection, but they do have draft and bottle beer (no ciders for celiac). Everything was wonderful we’d definitely go again on our next visit.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Portion to Price: 5/5 Overall: Very satisfied with the meal. The extended review... Food: Traditional fish and chips - 4/5 - A good experience to get some fish and chips. You will get an abundance of chips to fill your belly. The cod size too I was pretty surprised about. Service: 4/5 - It was close to closing time but they let us sit and eat. Ambiance: 3/5 - Just a step up from a fast food joint. Portion to Price: 5/5 - Very happy with the portion size.

Food was a 2.5/5 Atmosphere was a 4/5 Service was a 5/5. Tried the cod fish and chips recently, and overall it was a decent experience. The portion size was generous — definitely good value for what you pay. The service was friendly and efficient, which made the visit pleasant. However, the fish itself was a bit on the plain side — cooked well, but there was absolutely no seasoning or spice to bring the flavor out. A dash of salt or some light seasoning would have made a big difference. Good for a filling meal, but not for those looking for something flavorful.
Daniel A — Google review
The fish- both gluten-free and with gluten- is delicious. Celiac options for both the fish and the chips! Several locations in Dublin, a good spot for a quick lunch!
Erika W — Google review
We walked in one evening just because we were hungry. I ordered the sole, but it was a real letdown, the fish tasted only of oil, with a thick, greasy batter. The salad was covered in heavy sauces, and even the carrots were soaked in mayonnaise. I paid over €20. Definitely not worth it.
Claudia M — Google review
Rather expensive compared to other similar brekkie places. Small portions, same rates. Not value for money, I would like a refund. Not happy, even the coffee was tepid, watered down. Avoid.
Vinay D — Google review
Ate here for the gluten free options. I see what the other reviewers mean about lack of seasoning on the fish, which made it very bland indeed. However, it IS good quality fish and it was cooked well, moist and flaky, batter was perfectly crisp. I had the gluten free haddock and chips, and some gluten free onion rings. As someone with celiac, I don't usually get the opportunity to eat fried food due to risk of cross contamination, so I made the most of it. It is a really safe place to eat as a celiac, staff are knowledgeable and the kitchen is set up for this properly, so I recommend to anyone who is also in the celiac boat. It is pricey though. The staff were helpful, especially the guy serving and running up and down those stairs. Is it the best fish and chip shop in Dublin? No. But it does the job. Would recommend if you are either celiac and need something safely gluten free or if you are just desperate to eat in that area of Dublin.

We had buffalo wings and steak here. Served by a lovely waitress. Steak was good, good atmosphere too, maybe a bit loud and acoustic weren’t that impeccable that we can’t hear people around us. So had to talk quite loud where we were sat. But the food was good and it was a grand looking building. All in all a very nice experience.

We went for a meal in Hartley's Restaurant last night, we have eaten in this restaurant many times & always had a wonderful time & last night was no exception. A Great Restaurant, Fantastic Food & Wonderful Staff it is always amazing when you can treat yourself to go out & eat & always know that it you will be very Happy at the end of the evening. We had one small issue with our meal (which I pointed out to our server not as a complaint but just to draw attention to it.) The way that this issue was handled was FANTASTIC & so Professional. When we got our bill that part of the meal was taken off the bill as well as our first round of drinks which we did not expect as it was such a small issue, but this goes again to show the Professionalism of the staff. THANK YOU for another Wonderful Night looking forward to our next night out in Hartley's Restaurant

Great food, nice atmosphere and fairly fast service. We were there on a busy Sunday. We could order immediately, the drinks came quickly but we had to wait for the food longer than expected. Nevertheless, I'd like to recommend the restaurant. The food was great. Very tasty and a good portion. The linguine had a lot of seafood on it. I'd consider it rather expensive because the kitchen is not really something exceptional. Maybe it's the location in the heart of a touristic community.

The location on the marina was perfect. The food was delicious, they even had a vegan dish which was delicious. The only fault was that we had to select 3 wines before getting one, as they were out of the first 2. But we got to taste the 3rd one before getting it. Lovely experience.

I recently visited this restaurant and tried the Grilled Octopus with Tomato and Chilli Salsa from the starters menu, and the Lobster from their special menu. The Grilled Octopus included two to three small tentacles. It was cooked well — tender and nicely presented. While the portion size may seem small, it works well as an appetizer. The price is slightly on the premium side, likely due to the rarity of the dish in Dublin. That said, I feel the flavor could be enhanced a bit more to truly elevate the experience. For the Lobster, I would recommend opting for the classic version with garlic butter sauce. I personally found the cheese-covered lobster to overpower the natural sweetness of the meat. I tried a larger lobster at a relatively fair price, which was a nice touch. Overall, the service, ambience, atmosphere, and location were excellent. A great spot if you're looking to try something different in a lovely setting. 👌

The only bad things I can say about the place I'd that it takes a long time for the food to be ready, but it was totally worth the wait! This is not the first time I'd eat there, they offer a variety of meals, such an interesting menu, great atmosphere, and fair service.

I just arrived from Dublin on a whim and decided to check out the pier. I saw this place and at first glance of the quality of the fish, I was hooked. I walked to the back to the bar and although the kitchen/bar was a bit understaffed, I was met with friendly service and absolutely incredible food. This local selection of oysters was the best I’ve ever had, second only to Japan. The octopus was buttery tender and my first time having razor clams did not disappoint. This place is the real deal and I would highly recommend a stop. Just be patient if they are slow.

Have fond memories of this place when I worked in ballsbridge years ago. Great to see it’s still there but a bit more of an up market interior has been installed since, as befitting its location 😊 Quality chipper and greasy spoon grub in comfortable surroundings . Friendly staff and good table service . Gets a mix of clientele and reasonably priced.

Great service, good food, reasonably priced but overshadowed by the continuous intrusive disturbance from what would appear to be the manager/owner of the establishment sitting in the booth next to us playing , without using headphones, what sounded like various Tik Tok videos and social media content at a very loud volume. Maybe it might be a good idea to advise patrons and staff alike that the playing of loud video content is prohibited without the use of headphones as it impedes greatly on customers conversation and downtime.

Order takeaway from here frequently and it’s a fair distance to us. The food is always exactly what you want from a chipper but tonight’s order I can’t believe what happened. Kish Fish is a renowned spot in Dublin for its incredibly fresh fish and generous portions of chips. The cup of chowder is deceptively large, so make sure to come hungry. Visitors rave about the perfectly cut and proportioned chips, the fresh fish with a light and crunchy batter, and the option to try both Irish haddock and smoked Irish hake. The shop in Howth & Dunboyne is highly regarded for its top-quality seafood, expert staff, and fantastic freshness.
Easy to order something to eat and to get fresh fish for your home but also nice open yard to each their dishes.. not so big variety of dishes but the helpful staff and the quality and fair prices pay-off!! I would recommend as it is not so busy even though Sundays .. if you are lucky next to the harbour the seals are there to demonstrate how they are familiar with humans 🤓

The fish was incredibly fresh — you could taste the quality in every bite. The batter was light, crispy, and perfectly seasoned, without being greasy. It’s that rare combo that’s hard to get just right, but they nailed it. We also tried the chicken burger, and it was just as impressive — juicy, flavorful, and well put together. Everything was served piping hot and with care. Portions are generous without, and you definitely get your money’s worth. The quality and freshness of the fish, prawns, and other seafood are always outstanding — you can really taste the difference. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend the best catch of the day or give cooking tips. Prices are very fair considering the quality, and I always feel I get great value. Over the years this place has become my trusted seafood market, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. It’s a real gem in Howth and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves seafood.

The best food of this type i have had! Beautiful hand cut chips, great freah chicken, cooked perfectly. They deserve to do well, and Certainly have more stars in their rating !

Updating my 5 star review to 1 star. Visited again and they charge €2 for a pot of ketchup. I thought it was a joke. I'd happily pay 50c or so but €2 for ketchup is just crazy. Honestly, never seem the likes of it. Got the Original Pita, it was delicious. Nice grilled chicken chunks, just enough sauce & fillings. Sat down inside, very clean, including the toilets. Staff friendly. Would recommend.

The quality seems to have been going down for a while, but since its close we order anyway. Today though we orderd doners and they were absolutely inedible. Not sure if the meat is old or not stored properly, but I ended up binning the food and will not order from Romayos again. I wouldnt recomended anyone else eather.

Beshoff Bros, a beloved chipper in Dublin, is renowned among locals and tourists. With a rich history dating back decades, this family-owned business serves fresh fish from the northern Atlantic alongside environmentally-friendly farmer-grown potato chips. Since 1939, Beshoff Bros has been offering high-quality sit-down and takeaway options across various locations in Dublin. They proudly claim to be the top choice for fresh fish and chips, a reputation they have upheld faithfully.
Great fish and chips. Very safe for people that need to eat gluten free. Our gluten free eater had the chicken goujons and onion rings. The ketchup is not gluten free, which the waiter was quick to inform us. Chicken was good and a huge portion. Onion rings were outstanding. The non gluten free eaters had fish and chips and calamari. Both were good. You can call for reservations. The place was packed with locals. They also serve Guinness.
Chris H — Google review
We have dinner here regularly and I can say that they have some of the best fish and chips ever. It is so nice to have so many gluten free options. I felt spoiled with the GF Seafood Select box. Delicious and such a big portion for a very reasonable price. One thing I would say is that the restaurant is very tired and a bit grubby. The furniture is ripped, faded and uncomfortable so it badly needs a revamp. The menus have recently had many items removed which is strange. Thumbs up for food and service though.
Audrey M — Google review
The fried fish and chips were really good. It was a little too much for me though. The grilled one was also good, it was juicy and you could taste the fish more. You should get the grilled one if you like tasting the fish more.
Rüya — Google review
I had been promised the 'best fish and chips' in Ireland, but I was deeply unimpressed. The batter used was too thick and cakey resulting in a stodgy, sickly layer that overwhelmed the fish. The chips were crispy, bit slightly tasteless. Overall, I don't think the experience was bad, but it was disappointing.
Gary C — Google review
Quality fish with a light batter fried to perfection. However, the three star rating is for the price/quantity value, and the overall lack of ambiance. It’s basically an over priced McDonald for fish and chips.

Fish Shack Cafe is a small, but top quality seafood restaurant that is perfect for a quick lunch. The menu features everything from calamari to grilled scallop and fish and chips, making it the perfect place to enjoy some of the best seafood in Dublin.
All the fish dishes are just great! Even the bread you get on the sides was super tasty. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant matches the fish theme and makes for a great atmosphere. Only downside are their cakes which are only average. The ice cream is tasty though.

I love this place! Everything is absolutely delicious! It might a little expensive (haddock in the picture is €14.95 than other fish n chips around town but definitely worth every bit of it! Some may argue that the portion size is small but for me it is just the right amount. Highly recommend to everyone! My first experience was in Dun Laoghaire.

The food was yum ! They have quite a variety strating from the traditional fish and chips to oyster and calamari. The place also has locally made icecream which I opted for dessert. Situated right in the city centre hub I would say one will love it if you are a fish lover like me! :)

Great little spot for some tasty & quality grub ⭐ We just stumbled across it randomly, it didn't pop up on Google maps when I searched fish and chips but as I looked up to cross the road we seen it and went in. Interior design is really cozy, wood and a seaside feeling to it. Staff service was great. It's quite a narrow restaurant so there's not a massive amount of seats/tables, but there is several 4 seaters at least and a few 2 seaters. Food was honestly really good and I'm not really a fish fan!

The Golden Chip is a cozy take-out spot known for serving classic fish 'n' chips and Southern fried chicken. Located just outside Dublin's city center in Phibsboro, it's a local favorite near Mater Hospital, Mountjoy Prison, and Dalymount Park. The menu features fish and chips starting at six Euros and the Tex-Mex Quaterpounder. Visitors praise the thick-cut chips that strike the perfect balance of greasiness and extra portions.
This is a brilliant chipper. We ordered fish and chips, a battered sausage and a quarter ponder burger and chips and it was delicious and was very fresh. The portion sizes are very generous aswell. The staff are also so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back again.

Food never arrived. When called to inquire where the driver was, staff proceeded to get ignorant over the phone and implied we were impatient, even though it was going on two hours since we placed the order and living within fifteen minutes driving distance(max!). Nestled in the vibrant heart of Temple Bar, The Old Storehouse Bar and Restaurant is a quintessential Irish pub that beautifully marries traditional charm with modern flair. With its spacious interior adorned with original Victorian features, it offers an inviting atmosphere for both locals and visitors alike. This beloved spot showcases live Irish music every night of the week, making it a go-to destination for those looking to soak up authentic sounds while enjoying hearty fare.
This place is great!!! I loved the atmosphere!!! Live music was amazing!!!!! Get there early and get a table downstairs. We had a very large group and the only place they could accommodate us was up stairs away from the music. We got there early before the dinner rush but we could definitely tell they had gotten busy. One of our tables that had ordered the same time we did didn’t get their food until everyone else had already finished their meals. We had to ask a couple of times where the food was. We had the bangers and mash and the mashed potatoes and gravy were amazing!!! Also had the pork and apple pot pie and that was good as well! We highly recommend for the atmosphere, drinks and live music!!!
Marilee D — Google review
Such a nice place. We arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen closed, and they still served us without any complaints. The food was very good, and it felt like a great Irish experience. The absolute highlight of the night was the AMAZING performance by Jake Suleman, he left both me and my colleague with our mouths wide open. This man has insane talent, and thanks to him, the restaurant had an incredible atmosphere.
Claudia E — Google review
Loved the cozy vibe! The live music added great energy, and the barrel tables with mismatched furniture gave it real character. I had the lamb stew, which was hearty and delicious, but the star was the chocolate pudding…gooey, warm, smooth, and perfectly balanced. A bit loud with the music, but totally worth it!

Not bad at all but I probably wouldn’t go again. They claim to have the Best Shepherds Pie / Cottage Pie (Local name) but it was just average. Not really blown away with the food.
Joseph M — Google review
For our 3rd night in Dublin we wanted to have dinner in the famous " Temple Bar District " so we decided on the Old Storehouse. Upon entering it was confusing as to go upstairs looking for a hostess or into the bar to the right or even wait in the entry area. Nobody came so we got a few Guinness's in the bar. A wait person finally came over & seated us in the odd spot of where we came in just below the stairs. First of all this is a very loud place, im not sure if its the acoustics or just that many rowdy patrons but we figured we'd stay & eat. We ordered the Pork Pie & The Beef Casserole. Both were very good especially the latter. All in all they have great food but its too loud & it was a little on the pricey side so its doubtful we'd come back.
Eric O — Google review
Lovely experience, very busy with a real alive atmosphere. Had to wait a little while to be seated for food. Was very loud in there while eating because of the live music but the music gave a great atmosphere. Food was good, cottage pie full of flavour
Laura S — Google review
This was a 10 out of 10 experience! We went in the afternoon for lunch to try traditional Irish dishes. There were four of us, we all got something different so we could all try for things. They had live music playing. The atmosphere was lively and fun but we could still hold a conversation at the table. Let’s talk about the food. OMG The Traditional Guinness and Irish Beef Casserole is every savory stew dream thrown into one dish. Filled with veggies and hearty portion of beef it is absolutely rich and deeply delicious. Say yes to this. Irish Cottage Pie was the reason we stopped in. I make a version at home in the states and wanted to see if I was close. It was delicate and delicious. The ground beef was so finely chopped that it felt almost puréed, mixed with the most finely diced veggies with a generous about of dense mashed potatoes. It was a knock out dishes! The roasted root veggies on the side just added extra value to the already generous meal. Bangers and Mash - traditional Irish sausage over mashed potatoes ands gravy. Delicious and dependable. Homemade Irish Pork & Apple Crust Pie - Wowza! The mix of savory flavor with a hint of the apple and the perfect crust will live rent free in my head for a long time. A must try!!!!
R L — Google review
Delicious pub food. Some of the best we have had on our visit to the city. The Guinness and Irish Beef Casserole was extraordinary. The chowder also a highlight. The pub is named after a notorious 18th-century figure from Dublin's past, adding an intriguing historical touch to its modern identity.
It’s been 6 days and my friends and I cannot stop thinking about the meal we had here. We got the lamb shank, the salmon, and the beef stew and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. To speak on the beef stew - incredible. The beef was so beautiful tender and cooked, sitting on a gracious amount of mashed potatoes that melted in your mouth like butter, all surrounded by a very delicate sauce. I tried a few bites of the salmon and lamb and can safely say all three were incredible. The ambiance and environment was also perfect. It’s away from the busy street just enough but also full enough to be very lively. The band was AWESOME, a few people were dancing (including me) and it was awesome. I would come back here again in a heart beat. The staff was also so sweet and friendly, even though they were all running around. Awesome place - go now!!

Recommend to get there early as it was a 45 minute wait for food when we got there at 7.30. So only managed to get a few drinks. Friendly staff…. Fabulous music. Food was excellent. We had the lamb shank plate and the salmon plate. Both were phenomenal the lamb shank comes with a great dark gravy. The salmon was light flavorful and good. Both came with mashed potatoes and some veggies. The atmosphere of the bar is awesome with music starting in the evening would highly recommend. Only drawback it fills up quickly and people do not tend to leave once the band is getting ready to begin. We did notice, however towards mid evening people started to filter out again, and some spots opened up but were quickly filled!

Great pub, but I'm starting to believe pubs in Dublin are all good, this one did not disappoint. Lamb shanks are all similar but I especially liked the reduction here, paired with a red ale on nitrous, yum. Order half pints and enjoy. Sit on your own, by the bar was fantastic, bartender was hilarious.

Honestly just the best Irish stew I had in my life. Honestly maybe the best food I had in at least 10 years. I've had that dish, several times over several years all over island but this one takes the crown easily. Also the staff is nice. The music beautiful and the ambience is also cool. I will definitely write an email to ask the Chef for the recipe (or at least a hint) for my own pub back in Germany. Thank you so much for this joy in my mouth. Ah almost forgot, my wife is vegan and it's so cool that you can get all the people satisfied, since she had the vegan burger, which seemed to be also a blast.

We spent a Saturday night here for a dose of Irish nightlife. While we didn't have any food, we did have several pints and a fair amount of whiskey from their reasonably-priced (for this part of Dublin), extensive selection. The music was good and they played all the classic songs including Molly Malone twice because some poor Italian tourist wasn't there the when it was first played. Those who ate, got their food quickly and I must say, it did look tasty!!

Fish and chips were great. Super crunchy and crispy. The homemade tartar sauce was excellent as well. Worth going. Our first dinner in Dublin, the reviews and photos looked amazing was the reason of choosing this place. There was queue when arriving however it was worth the wait as it was small space upstairs. They had all the traditional Irish cuisine including a FULL Flour Free Menu! We had the Famous Irish Lamb Shank and Traditional Irish Stew. They are absolutely delicious and taste buds was more than happy. It felt like pure enjoy eating them. The lamb shank was melting like butter and mind you Irish butter is freaking amazing. The flavor was outstanding. The traditional Irish stew was our favorite dish of all time. We would totally come to this spot. I tried the early bird menu for €27 and overall the experience was good especially the character of the site, customer interaction & superb location. The seafood chowder was nice & tasty, packed full of flavours & ingredients although some of the chunks of fish were a bit tough. The Guinness stew was also tasty with nice sauce but some of the beef chunks were a little bit dry & tough. My partner really enjoyed her lamb shank & pint of Guinness. All dishes were served nice & warm which was appreciated. The house Italian red by the glass (Solandia Nero D'Avola) was very disappointing & served at such a high temperature that it was unpleasant. I have tried before elsewhere the other red by the glass, Sangre de Torre which is much better. The service from all the waiting staff is excellent including the brave Lais who is a great Street ambassador ! (See picture).

Nestled in the vibrant Temple Bar area, The Shack Restaurant offers a unique dining experience that perfectly blends quirky decor with a lively atmosphere. This hotspot is known for its friendly and efficient service, ensuring guests feel right at home from the moment they arrive. The menu features an enticing mix of traditional Irish dishes alongside global flavors, making it a culinary delight for all palates.
We had one of our best meals in the Shack Restaurant. The staff were so nice and friendly. The atmosphere was not as busy and crowded as other restaurants in Temple bar. We ordered Beef Ireland and Irish Stew as well as hot apple pie for dessert. Both meals were so delicious and it was more than enough for one person. I had Irish Stew in other restaurants in Ireland and this one was the best by far. The hot apple pie was also so delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant during your visit in Ireland.

We had a wonderful time, enhanced by a high-quality meal. While there was certainly a wait, the attention paid to our comfort—by offering us a reservation to guarantee our place—showed genuine service. As for the food, I can't recommend the must-try Fish & Chips highly enough; it's absolutely delicious and a real favorite! The staff, with their exceptional kindness and exemplary professionalism, made the experience all the more enjoyable. A place we will treasure... and warmly recommend. We will definitely return.

Went here for the first meal in Dublin and Ireland as we wanted to have something more local and traditional. We did have to wait a bit as we were a group of 5 people. But that's a good sign in my mind. Service was quite fast and pleasant. A lot of options to choose from. The food was good. As a starter I had the soup of the day - which was mushroom cream soup and was good. As a main I had Beef Ireland which is a stew of vegetables and beef. Tasty. Needed a spoon to finish the dish. Both foods as an addition had a really really good seed bread with butter - this was absolutely amazing. Ate 4 slices 😂🙈 As a dessert got the apple pie. Generic, but good, nothing particularly special. Good that it wasnt too sweet. Other party members were satisfied.withthe food as well, but mentioned that it wasn't nothing groundbreaking. We come from a country where we have similar dishes and that could be the reason. I think this place is worth visiting for a nice meal.

Authentic Irish. Great service. Quiet restaurant with no live music (I was with my grandparents, so this was perfect). Food was cooked well. High quality. Great flavour. I loved the homemade bread - a highlight of the dinner !!!

Firstly, the restaurant has an excellent location and a traditional Irish atmosphere. However, upon entering we were greeted by the very rude head waiter (an older man). He told us we must spend above 18€ per head in order to enter. We acknowledged it and say that’s okay while smiling (even though the restaurant was half empty). Upon seeing us smiling he started shouting: “Why are you laughing, why are you laughing?!?! I’m serious you need to spend at least 18€ per person”. We answered him in a serious tone and sat down. When he saw we were a party of 10 he became furious and started shouting that under no circumstances will we be able to split, splitting the bill is not permitted. (We didn’t even ask him as we had no intention to split). After the rude reception, a friendly waitress of hungarian origin attended to us. Unlike the head waitress, she was nice, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, we were satisfied. Overall, I think it is unacceptable that a head waiter talks to the customers in such a degrading way, he was highly unprofessional and made sure that we will stay as far away from The Shack as possible.

The best food of our lives. We found this place by accident last February (or did it find us?) and fell in love with the food and especially the lovely and extremely friendly staff. We planned a trip back to Ireland just to come back to this special place and during our 2-day-stay in Dublin, we were lucky enough to eat there three times and no matter what we ordered, we couldn't believe how good it was. When John, the manager (owner?), noticed how much we were enjoying our food, he kindly shared the recipes with us and offered us to take pictures of the cooking book. Despite already being full beyond comprehension, we still ordered dessert because we knew it would be a missed opportunity otherwise. Although it takes some waiting to get a table (because of how great it is), it is worth every second and every cent. Big thanks to The Shack Restaurant, especially the wonderful John and Karyna, who made our stay absolutely unforgettable and made us feel so at home. We're already planning our next trip back to this country just to experience The Shack again. This restaurant and these people have a special place in our hearts now (and in our stomachs). 💚

We went there for some traditional Irish food: lamb stew and seafood chowder, and it was great! We loved the flavors, and the chowder was packed with real seafood ingredients absolutely delicious! They’re also happy to share the recipes for each dish, and you can even buy their cookbook for €25. It includes the actual recipes they use for the dishes served there.

Restaurant
Klaw by Niall Sabongi is a sophisticated seafood restaurant with an authentic Italian flair. The ambiance is elegant, with white tablecloths and a wide selection of mostly Italian wines. Fresh fish is showcased at the entrance and expertly prepared into traditional Italian dishes like oven-baked scallops and fresh calamari with spicy spinach. Located on Fownes Street Upper, this seafood cafe offers a more relaxed dining experience compared to its sister restaurant, Rosa Madre.
Went here on our first night in Dublin and where not disappointed. We're looking for a fish place for a quick bite and this really seems to fit the bill. We got a small table near the entrance and basically ending up ordering everything off the menu. Started with various oyster, a lobster roll, some lobster claws, the bouillabaisse, even a crab infused Mac an cheese. All the delicious food we washed down with bloody Mary's! Great place.
Bendert K — Google review
We came here in the afternoon off-peak hour. The girl who served me recommended the sampler, considering I'm a first timer. She explained where the oysters are from upon serving. The oysters themselves tasted great. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the city. This is definitely a hidden gem, literally within the city.
Penny L — Google review
Oysters were great but overpriced unless you come during happy hour. Wish our server explained how the toppings order works before we ate them. Lobster roll was more like lobster ‘salad’ roll. If you live in Tokyo or NY, Luke’s is way better for the full flavor lobster. Service during lunch time was slow and mediocre.
Rumika H — Google review
Cool laid back spot- tiny and cozy. We ordered oysters, Mac and cheese. Also had the house IPA. Everything was delicious, staff were friendly and helpful. Unique spot where checking out.
Carmen J — Google review
Klaw is a small place, very small in fact but it really doesn't matter. They have about 3 tables and some small wall seating so at max it can hold around 15 people. Get there early and getting a seat won't be an issue. The staff is friendly and are more than willing to answer any questions you may have about the menu. The vide is pretty chill especially with all the customer artwork on the walls. Now for the food, my god the food is amazing. It's not a cheap place but you won't regret spending the money on quality seafood. Every visit for me came to around 100 euro. The oysters and the calamari are by far the best things you can get in my opinion. Also if you are looking for a show then get some torched oysters.
Kevin — Google review
Fresh seafood and not too expensive. First time we came, there was no seats and there was a queue. This time round, I came straight in and ordered a lobster roll with ‘When I was 6’, i.e. grilled prawns. Very fresh and sweet! The only complaint I have is the lobster salad on the roll was cold - would have preferred something warm or hot. Was told the oysters are good but didn’t try.
Dariel L — Google review
We came here two consecutive days in a row during our vacation because our hostel was nearby. The first day, they didn't have any alcohol at all. Just a single glass of white wine (which was a bit overpriced, in my opinion). We were able to look past that since we came for the oysters. 3 of everything. They were exceptional! Our server was also new. Though it took her some time to answer our questions, she was friendly and her attitude was cheeky. A gentlemen who was assisting her was also very helpful. Unfortunately the second visit the next day was not as pleasant. We sat unattended for at least 15 minutes as their server thoroughly ignored us... which is kind of hard to in this small hallway-like space. My true rating would have to be a 3.5 as a result of these minor issues. Overall, I would recommend coming here if you love oysters for a good deal. Be sure to go during happy hour.

In the heart of Dublin, an awesome restaurant. Small space with only 3 tables and open kitchen. The food is very good. Oysters and Hot Pot highly recommended!

The Kingfisher Restaurant & Townhouse is a warm and inviting guesthouse that offers comfortable rooms with complimentary WiFi. The on-site restaurant and cafe cater to guests as well as visitors from nearby attractions like Croke Park. The restaurant serves up traditional Irish breakfasts and hearty meals, while the hotel provides boutique accommodation options and self-catering facilities.
The family room at the Kingfisher was exactly what my daughter and I needed. Clean and straightforward with little thoughtful touches which helped us feel welcome. We ate in the restaurant each evening and it was excellent with friendly service. We felt nothing would have been too much trouble and we could have communicated any issues with the accommodation with the restaurant staff. The Kingfisher is on a busy road but with good double glazing so the room is peaceful even with the trams passing by. The location is very convenient for getting around the city centre. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful central stay in Dublin! We had a great time staying here! Although it's located above a fish & chips restaurant, it was quiet at night — the restaurant closed early, and we weren't disturbed at all. The location is perfect — super central, everything was walkable. The hosts were very friendly, gave great instructions, and left clear descriptions. We also ate at the restaurant downstairs every day — delicious food and very kind staff. We'd definitely stay here again next time we're in Dublin!

They claim they have the best fish and chips in Dublin. I won't disagree with that claim! My wife also had grilled haddock and chips which were superb. The spice box was delicious and definitely lived up to its name! Service was friendly and quick without the pressure one can feel at other spots, when ordering at the counter!

Nice restaurant with friendly staff. Claim to have the "best fish & chips in town" but for us it was just average. Could need some more spices. But tastes differ of course.

We just left after spending 3 days in Dublin. Upon arriving early from our overnight flight we went directly to the Kingfisher-staff welcomed us and made up our room early!!! (We were expecting just to drop off our luggage). We had to try lunch at the Kingfisher too…food was excellent as was the service. Owners provided exceptional communication. Location is perfect to the city center….we walked everywhere. Highly recommend and will stay here again!!!!

I don't normally leave reviews but I feel compelled to write one for the Kingfisher. My husband first came here years ago when I was in the Rotunda expecting our first child. 11 years and 3 children later we now come a few times a year as a family. We absolutely love the place. Everything is great but what really makes it special is the staff. They're so lovely with our boys. And as a community nurse who works in this area, I've also noticed on a few occasions that they're really attentive and kind to single older people that come here for their lunch or dinner. No wonder they (and we) keep coming back. Long live the Kingfisher!

We had such a good time at the Kingfisher. We had a drain issue but it was fixed almost immediately while we had some delicious fish and chips. All the staff were polite and helpful! They even let us store our luggage before and after checkout so we didn’t have to take it with us.

Wine cellar
Rosa Madre, located in Temple Bar, is a top choice for seafood enthusiasts. The suave owner Luca De Marzio personally introduces the freshest seafood and recommends wine from their sleek cellar. The restaurant offers house-made pasta and table-side filleting of whole fish, creating a fine-dining experience that's also fun. It has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Italian Restaurants in Europe 2019.
This restaurant had been on my list for a long time, so I made a reservation a month in advance to celebrate our third anniversary. When we arrived, there was a brief wait for our table due to a mix-up with another couple’s reservation. However, we were in great spirits, and the manager handled the situation smoothly, ensuring it didn’t affect our night. The food was excellent! The crab on toast and seabass croquette are a must to start (not in the pictures). We had oysters and parmigiana for starters, followed by the ragu for my wife and the lobster pasta for me. The lobster pasta was exceptional—the cherry tomato sauce was both sweet and punchy, perfectly complementing the lobster. We were too full for dessert, but to our surprise, the staff brought us a small treat to celebrate our anniversary. It was such a thoughtful gesture, especially since they remembered from my booking. For wine lovers, they have a fantastic selection to pair with the meal. I couldn’t recommend this place enough! The staff was incredibly friendly, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion. I’ll definitely be back to try the Gnocchetti Crab! Ciao!

“While visiting Dublin, we had dinner here and enjoyed a lovely evening. We both ordered the lobster pasta, which was flavorful and well-cooked, and finished with tiramisu that was light and delicious. The restaurant was quite busy, and service was a bit slow at times, but the staff were friendly and attentive when they came by. We had made a reservation, so we were seated right away. Overall, a good experience with tasty food and a comfortable atmosphere.

I won't lie- I was a little hesitant to visit Rosa Madre when I heard they hadn't got a kids menu but I need not have worried- the place is fantastic. It's been a long time since everything I've eaten in a restaurant was as good as this. I had gnocchi and crab to start and it was so delicate in flavour yet so delicious. For mains I had the ragu which was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Perfectly al dente cooked pasta with a deep, rich flavourful ragu. For dessert we shared tirmisu- which was light in texture yet packed a punchy coffee flavour and wasn't too sweet. The little one had spaghetti with parmesan and ate all of it with a big thumbs up when asked by staff for his approval! On that note- the staff were just incredible. So welcoming from the moment we arrived and they are very family friendly. I couldn't recommend highly enough. We will be returning soon.

Absolutely loved the grilled octopus and pumpkin and basil sauce - cooked to perfection and the flavours are perfectly balanced. This was my first time having parmigiana and I enjoyed that too. The butter for the bread was also wonderfully salty and points for that being complimentary. The star of the show was the paccheri ragu; I actually ended up finishing my partner’s for him. I got the special which was ravioli, nduja, burrata and pistachio but I found the sauce not very enjoyable (reminded me of a west Africa palm oil heavy dish). The tiramisu was great and was surprised by the accompaniment of ice cream. Also points for the tiramisu being in a square shape rather than in a cup to disguise the size. The wine list is extensive. The food is so well priced for the quality and portion sizes. The ambience is great for date night. If I had one complaint, it’s that no one came round to offer dessert after the main course. Otherwise perfection and definitely will be back.

It was the first restaurant we ate in when in Dublin. I had the Bangers and Mash, the soup, and the Brownie dessert. It was a special menu for tour groups. Since the meal was included in our tour I have no idea how much it cost. The entree was luscious, delicious and hearty. The soup was smooth and perfectly delectable. The brownie was a tad dry. We listened to the traditional live music which set the stage for the entire evening. Fabulous start to our Dublin visit!

Came twice on the way in and out of Dubby on account of: great service, friendly clientele, large tables for our large family group, live music (especially the fiddle player on Sunday night 🔥🔥🔥 pass on his name if you can) and good food! Def recommend the fish n chips, lamb stew, and burger. Did we originally try across the street and get turned away by a packed house? Yeah, but so glad to end up here in the end. Ireland core memories unlocked 💯💚🍻

Great bar right next to the Liffey. Went on a busy Saturday night, waited about 10-15 minutes for 2 people, larger parties might require a longer wait. Food was quite good, really enjoyed the chicken wings. Live music was very good, played all kinds of music from traditional Irish to contemporary hits. Staff was friendly, even though they were quite busy. Images are chicken wings, duck leg confit, and lamb stew. Dublin rocks!

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience. I booked this hotel as a special memory for me and my mam, who has terminal cancer. All we wanted was one peaceful, relaxing night away by the sea—to make memories and lift her spirits. Sadly, the experience was the opposite of what we hoped for. From the minute we arrived until around 8 PM that night, there was a busker right outside the hotel playing the same 5 or 6 sad, depressing songs on repeat. The singing was loud and frankly not very good but it deeply affected our stay. We couldn’t sit outside and enjoy the sea view or even open the window in our room on a very hot summer day. Instead of a calming, joyful evening, we were stuck indoors in a stuffy room, with the windows shut, trying to escape the noise. It made my mam even sadder, when the whole purpose of this trip was to cheer her up and give her a peaceful experience by the sea. All our plans for the day and evening were ruined. For a hotel that markets itself as a place for relaxation and sea views, I would’ve expected them to manage the environment around their property better—especially for the prices charged. 260€ I payed for one night. I took many video on my phone of how loud the busking was all day and also how bad the singing was. This was supposed to be a meaningful trip, and unfortunately, it’s now a memory clouded by disappointment.

Did not have a room, but if they are anything like the food and service, they will be nice. Personal attention, excellent quality to the fresh seafood, and served with tastes and skill. You will not regret neither the oysters or lobster, or the class. The smoked fish is also excellent!

We visited King Sitric for the first time, and it turned out to be a lovely experience. It’s a small, cosy place located in one of the best spots in Dublin — Howth — offering great views and a charming atmosphere. I went with a few friends, and here’s what we tried: 1. Oysters – Absolutely fresh and delicious! We loved them so much that we ended up ordering 24 pieces. 2. Lobster in Garlic Sauce – The flavours were excellent and the lobster was perfectly cooked. However, the portion size felt a bit small for the price (€€€€). 3. Prawns – Nicely cooked and served in a good portion. The cooking style is slightly different from other places, so it might not be to everyone’s taste, but we enjoyed it. Overall, King Sitric offers great seafood in a beautiful setting — perfect for a relaxed meal in Howth.

We had lunch at King Sitric during our day in Howth, and it was a really nice experience. It was a great place to stop and refuel after our Howth Adventures walking tour. The restaurant has a bright, welcoming atmosphere looking out over the harbor, which made for a lovely setting after our walking tour. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was fresh and well presented. Even though the restaurant is best known for its seafood, there were good non-seafood options available, and what we ordered was satisfying and flavorful. Drinks were well made, and the overall pace of the meal was relaxed, which gave us time to enjoy the setting and chat with others from our group.

The Bankers Bar, located on Dame Lane in Dublin, offers a delightful experience for both locals and visitors. Whether you choose to dine downstairs in the main bar or upstairs in The Teller Room, you can savor traditional dishes like fish and chips from their full menu. The building's layout provides excellent people-watching spots along Trinity Street and Dame Lane.
It's a chill pub, where we stopped on two occasions. First we stopped here for an early dinner, having the fish and chips, beef stew and chowder. The food was overall tasty, especially the chowder, but the fish and chips lacked some salt. On the second occasion we stopped for an Irish whiskey, which was really good. Service was friendly and attentive during our first visit, but the second time around it felt a bit cold and unwelcoming.

Our table on the terrace was dirty and the ashtray still held old cigarette butts and remained on the table for the remainder of the meal (see photo). The staff was inattentive, rude and indifferent. Meals were placed on the table without any comment or eye contact. The food (Fish and Chips) was sad and dreadful. The fish was completely unsalted and the batter (also unsalted) was thicker than Lizzo. The fries were decent. This place should be renamed as The Bonkers Bar, because one has to be delusional to be visiting here. Not coming back.

McCaffertys at the Barge is a popular landmark destination in Dublin, located near the Grand Canal. It features four separate bars, offering a daytime pub menu and nightly discos. The Barge is known for its vibrant atmosphere, especially during summer when the grassy areas outside become an unofficial party spot. Despite public alcohol consumption being illegal in Ireland, this rule is often overlooked here as crowds gather to socialize and enjoy drinks by the canal.
Really cool spot and great for younger crowds. You can buy your drinks and have them around the canal. Very busy when the weather is nice. Good prices and a classic irish pub inside. Really enjoyed it here and would recommend!

Highly recommended for drinks and hanging out but I ordered a dish here and it didn’t arrive for 40-45 mins, if you’re very hungry PLEASE consider a quick bite somewhere else as you will be waiting for a long time and once you order you can’t leave and you’re totally trapped there so it’s almost like a nightmare. One more thing is that the food was good and there was a lot of vegetables which was awesome but the beef itself didn’t have the same Irish beef flavor as other beef in the area so that was a disappointment but everything was fine.

McCafferty’s at The Barge Dublin, Ireland While McCafferty’s might not be a secret to the locals, it still feels like a hidden gem to visitors who stumble upon it. This spot offers an authentic Irish pub experience that hits all the right notes. The Guinness? Smooth as butter, easily one of the best pints we’ve had in Dublin. The Irish stew was absolutely phenomenal rich, hearty, and packed with flavor. Surprisingly, the wings were also a standout, perfectly cooked with just the right amount of kick. What truly elevated the experience was our server. Handling our large group with ease, he brought energy, personality, and an impressive knowledge of both the menu and the city. His local recommendations helped shape the rest of our Dublin adventure. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, dinner, or just a proper pint, McCafferty’s is a welcoming and lively place to hang out. Highly recommended if you want great food, great beer, and even better service in the heart of Dublin.

A pub out of the most turistic paths, with lower prices than the center of the city and food is great. The atmosphere is very characteristic
Stefano P — Google review
The pub/ restaurant is much larger than expected but with quaint smaller areas. Chose it last minute because it is around the corner from our hotel and open on a bank Holiday. Went there for dinner and had one order of fish and chips and one of braised Blade of beef which was very tasty. The only recommendation was to make the chips a little crisper. Otherwise wonderful including the dessert Eton mess which is a must do!

Cool place. I’ve been there for our company’s Christmas party and a friend’s birthday. Both times had few amazing Brazilian staff. The food was really good. The pint is overpriced, but is a nice place to go for sure.

This place is charming and has a beautiful sea view. Highly recommend to catchup with friends or a casual dinner. Staff are delightful and very pleasant, the menu is well thought out and the cocktails look good. The food is balanced and the portions are quite normally sized. It is a bit hard to find parking, but definitely worth a visit

Brannigans is a cozy Irish pub and kitchen with a lively atmosphere, offering traditional pub fare and a selection of draft beers. Established in 1854, this family-run gastro pub serves classic dishes like Irish lamb stew, bangers and mash, and beef and Guinness casserole. The venue also features a Norse-themed bar with stained glass decor off O'Connell Street, along with a function room upstairs for private events.
Very very good place ! The food is really good and the service also. We took fish and chips and Beef and Guinness stew…about this last dish in Italy we say “sensationally good”. 5 stars for everything and very recommended
Lorenzo M — Google review
Had good beer here, one light one and a sort of ipa. We also ordered fish and chips and a fish chowder. The chowder wasn't as good as I expected from the other reviews, a bit too much cream making it hard to finish. The fish was decent. The staff is nice, we got there on a night when it wasn't too loud.
Geanina S — Google review
Had the seafood chowder and it was a generous size with lots of different seafood in it. Very tasty. Staff were attentive. The clientele skews towards a more mature crowd who enjoys the traditional style pub.
Katie L — Google review
Honestly the food was that below average I was disappointed enough to leave this review. Typical tourist trap menu but didn't mind too much as we were looking for carvery / stew style food. I got the lamb stew and can only describe it as soupy water. Tasted of nothing and had to add excessive salt and pepper to even get a hint of anything. My partner had the roast beef and the gravy was a sort of BBQ style glaze gravy. Staff were all great and price was probably fair if the food was of an ok standard but I would stay clear of the stew and roast.
Alan B — Google review
Really disappointed with our experience. I went to Brannigans in 2022 and had a much better experience with food and service, but was much less impressed this time around. Their pornstar martini is not an actual pornstar martini (no prosecco shot, no passion fruit, but it tastes like orange?). The vegetarian shepherd's pie was pretty gross. It's severely under seasoned and no amount of salt I added seemed to do anything to it. It came with steamed vegetables on the side that, again, had no seasoning or sauce. The entire dish lacked any type of flavor. We also never saw our server again after we ordered.
Jessica — Google review
Had the fish and chips for dinner and it was pretty good. Came along with salad, mushy green peas and a whole mountain of freshly cut fries. The fish was good too, flaky and soft. Service from the staff was quick and efficient.

(Ate there last night. Saturday 8 Nov). There weren't any available seats when we arrived, we saw two people paying their check so took their table when they left. My boyfriend moved an empty beer glass to the table to our left which had a reserve sign on it but was vacant. When the server arrived to wipe the table my boyfriend said "sorry, I didn't know where to put this", she said "you should have just left it". I mean... That's the thought that might have been in my head if a guest had done that, but it definitely would not have come out of my mouth. I would have said "no problem, let me take that glass for you". The difference between Europe and the US when you aren't working for tips i guess... You can say the intrusive thoughts out loud. We ordered our beers and when they arrived she asked for our food order. My boyfriend asked whether she would recommend the shepherd-less pie, or the beef casserole. She said "well one is vegan and one isn't". Yes... That was pretty clear, since we can read, but do you have a recommendation? She said the stew so that's what he ordered. I got the fish and chips. The fish was good, the chips not so much. They were huge, so they weren't cooked nearly enough for their size, under done, and not at all crispy, tasted almost stale. My boyfriend liked his casserole and the slice of soda bread it came with. The beers were fine. She checked in with us once during the meal asking if everything was good. The plates were cleared relatively quickly but then we didn't see our server again, until we managed to flag her down to pay our check. In fairness, I think she had to manage half the restaurant on her own, there was a guy in a white dress shirt that was helping bus and possibly had the other half of the restaurant. So while the service was lacking when we were trying to leave, I think they were just understaffed more than an attentiveness issue. I would go back, I wouldn't order the fish and chips, and I'd expect brusque and average service. There was no tip option on the handheld payment device, and she printed out a slip for my boyfriend to sign that also didn't have a tip option. We would have left something but don't carry cash so didn't have an option to.

A lovely little seafood restaurant that gets creative with their dishes -Try the periwinkles! Friendly, swift service and delicious food. Two complimentary starters: salted carmel butter with the fresh warm bread and goatscheese cakes. We shared two starters, seafood platter, Surf & turf platter and four desserts between four of us. Easily could have left the starters and desserts as the mains are so generous, but the offerings we're too nice to miss. Lovely place for an occasion.

Had a great time at Bar Rua. Got served by Eve who was very helpful and enthusiastic in explaining what makes a good Guinness and nitro stout (patience, two pours and frequent sales). Poor quality food, small portions, same prices but as the all Centrall Dublin. Decent beers, pricies. Service kind of fuzzy, we were kind enough to insist to pay.

A stylish bar and restaurant that blends a cozy, modern atmosphere with excellent food and drinks. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it great for both casual evenings and special occasions. Service is attentive without being overbearing, and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. The food is flavorful, beautifully presented, and pairs well with their creative cocktails. While prices lean toward the higher side, the quality and overall experience make it worthwhile. A strong choice for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed yet refined night out. While Nicolas is an excellent bartender who really elevates the experience. He’s attentive, welcoming, and has a great ability to read the room — always knowing when to engage and when to give space. His cocktails are consistently well-balanced and beautifully made, showing real skill and creativity behind the bar. On top of that, his friendly personality makes guests feel comfortable and valued. Best place to play pool in south Dublin hands down. The place is big and the beer garden is fantastic. Lovely crowd and pretty aesthetic spot for a game and a pint
Manya S — Google review
Today I was for the first time in Dalkey. It was late Saturday afternoon and there was the annual lobster festival. Despite the strong drizzle, the temperature was mild and the people attended by weight, something typically Irish. The establishments that sell food, pubs among them, were crowded. We were looking for a pub where there was supposed to be a musical performance, but it was nothing. So we went to Killarney to see what would be happening there.

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Blackrock, Kelly & Coopers is a culinary gem that locals rave about. Renowned for its crispy and fresh fish and chips, this eatery offers an inviting atmosphere complemented by friendly service. Guests have enjoyed delightful interactions with staff who treat them like friends rather than just customers. The menu features a variety of delicious options, including standout dishes like beetroot and goat cheese salad alongside perfectly roasted pork belly.
Food was excellent. As it is a pub, I was not expecting such high quality and freshness of ingredients. They also.put a lot of care in presenting the dishes. Service was attentive and friendly. I would recommend.
The J — Google review
Went here for my mother's birthday. She had the beetroot and goats cheese salad and I had the roasted pork belly. Both were delicious. Currently the dining is strictly outdoors and they are not serving indoors. The positive consequence of this is that you can book one of their backyard patio tables and come in for a meal without having a covid certificate — you are still required to provide contact details for contact tracing purposes however. All in all, including deserts and a few drinks, the meal cost around €70 plus tip. Kelly and Coopers has gotten more expensive since the pandemic, but the food on offer is quite good and the ambiance is very pleasant — at least now while the weather is warm enough to be dining outside. One criticism of the offering is that their food menu doesn't boast a huge selection, and is not particularly vegetarian friendly. Sometime later and Kelly & Cooper's is unchanged. I didn't eat in, but from what I saw the quality of food was still solid. I had Open Gate IPA which is a new addition, and a good one. So the beer menu while small for draft options, is interesting and frequently updated. As for service, you're going to get a mix. The back of house and some of the bar staff are naturally not great at customer service, but they do try. The front of house staff are fast, professional, and friendly. All around, good experience, possibly improved since last time. There seemed to be a stronger sense of teamwork this time which showed in the overall delivery of service.

Absolutely amazing food and service start to finish. Our waitress Joanne was very attentive and friendly. It's probably some of the best pub grub we have ever eaten. Starters were delicious and could easily pass as a main course. I ordered Kelly's fish and chips as a main course, my wife ordered the fish of the day (Ray), and my sister ordered the Cod, all three were exceptionally cooked and my wife is coeliac, they catered for her without hesitation. Will absolutely be back and cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I've been ordering from here the last few years now and never had any major issues apart from the odd odrder mistake. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed however I stopped ordering my favourite dish mince taco chips as the last time I did I noticed the ingredients had been cut back on and the taste just wasn't the same. I ordered a snack box Monday night and it was fab and very generous with the chips. Ordered a quarter pounder meal this evening 25/09/24 and to be honest I dont think I'll be spending my money here again. The chips were disgraceful, hard and cold which is strange as I'm literally 2 minutes away from the restaurant. The burger was cold too but still edible but not 1 fresh chip in the bag. They now charge a €1 service fee as well as €3 delivery and for the price of the food this is just not good enough.
Demi O — Google review
I ordered a burger here for €7, and honestly, it was very disappointing. The burger was soggy, and there was barely any sauce, which made it dry and tasteless. On top of that, the lady who took my order seemed completely uninterested and unbothered. Her attitude made the experience even worse. I won’t be coming back — the food and the staff’s behavior were both below expectations.

Nov 2024 Disappointed with both food and service. Chips damp and soggy, weren't hot enough. Burger bun soggy too. Staff not very welcoming either Won't be back.

It used to be amazing food, last time I ordered maybe in 2023. I couldn't believe what I found out in my fish box today. Soggy, raw chips, I asked for salt and vinegar- there was no salt and chips were sinking in vinegar. But the worst was fish: old, smelly (probably smoked not fresh) unseasoned without pinch of salt or pepper, cheewy burnt batte. Even though I'm not super demanding in terms of takeaway food this time I was almost crying, my daughter was upset as it was our Mothers Day dinner - we were not able to eat it. Terrible terrible disappointment, never again.

Nice food, but disappointing portions recently. Ordered a Goujons meal and upgraded the regular side to large portion of chips- would hardly call that amount a large. Not enough to share the way you’d expect. The goujons were fine, but obviously not homemade or home battered the way the regular fried chicken from Teos is. Just a bit disappointing.

I had an awful urge to have a spice bag as a treat once a week, but my local Chinese Takeawy only takes cash, and I had none only my card. Hungry and cold, I went into the Macaris Take Away next door. Disappointed not to be having a spice bag, I walked into Macaris only to be hit with the most amazing aroma, and in a millisecond, my craving for a spice bag vanished. The menu was mouthwatering, and my dilemma began what to order. However, I was only I the door and asked for my order in my panic. I said one fresh cod and 3 chips. Done order put it, but my mind was racing, asking me questions like you fool, what about smoked cod, batterburger, or even chicken? I was distracted by the good banter with customers and staff. Everyone was in top form. My order was ready. Do you want chips separate or all together? I was asked, but of course, altogether. Salt and vinegar, I was asked again, as much as you wan, I said. The bag of food was handed to me like I was receiving the World Cup. I live locally, but my drive home seemed endless as my anticipation was getting out of control. I rang home to have plates warmed and bread buttered for the most glorious of sandwiches a chip butty;. I was received by my wife, son, and yes, our dog, a hero. We ate our food in complete silence while watching Deadpool and Wolverine. Thank you, Macaris. we had a wonderful evening eating simple food cooked to perfection and all because I did not have cash. How fortuitous was that?

I’m obsessed with this place! I first ate here because it was the only late night vegan place open. I couldn’t believe how delicious it was for being a late night take away spot. I’ve had vegan pizza all over the world and this was comparable to a high end restaurant. So good we went here twice. Love that they use cashews cheese. All the vegan meats are delicious. Food holds up great even when cooled off. I would recommend “the meaty” vegan pizza, vegan Philly cheese steak, bacon curry chips.

Incredible selection for Vegans! Need to come and tick off every option on the list. Loved the batter sausage, chicken nuggets and philly steak 😋 only thing is that I wish it opened earlier and more often!!! 😭

As a Vegetarian it isn't easy to find good food spots, but this store is one of them. You can choose between various meals and also "normal" eater have a large selection of dishes. I had an burger with french fries which was very delicious. When you are in the surroundings, have a look and enjoy the dishes. I can totally recommend this store!

Lovely takeaway shop with big vegan menu. Everything is cooked in seperate oil and pans, so safe option. Had the spice bag and it was delicious. Loved the vegan garlic mayo Staff were super friendly and helpful, I might have to come back for a vegan burger or pizza before I leave town.

Food is amazing, one of the best chippers. Easily tops best late night chipper too, food is always fresh and made with good ingredients. Everything I've had here is great and they do quite a variety. Honestly a godsend after a late night.

Super nice place centrally located in Dublin with a large selection of dishes. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options but also meat so everyone can find something they like. Very good service and cozy place also cheap! Big plus and will eat here again!🇮🇪🌟

Went to McGuinness takeaway on a night out expecting your typical greasy pizza and chips from a late night spot. But to my suprise I was blown away with the quality, variety and overall experience of McGuinness takeaway. My personal recommendation would have to be the cheesy taco chips, mouth is watering just thinking of them. Anything you choose is a hit, couldn’t recommend more!

Fuscos Restaurant & Takeaway, a long-standing establishment in The Liberties since 1963, has remained a constant amidst the evolving landscape of Dublin's Meath St and Francis St. This family-run gem exudes an old-world charm that has been preserved for over 70 years. The friendly staff and generous portions create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for enjoying their renowned fish and chips or other delectable meals.
In the heart of the liberties simple but first class. Made feel welcome and everyone treated well. Good food and atmosphere. Dublin at it's simplest and finest. Fantastic guy's.
Adrian K — Google review
Fusco’s Restaurant offers a great dining experience with delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly, and the service is excellent. The menu has a good variety of options, but it would be even better with more vegetarian choices. While the food quality is impressive, adding a few more plant-based dishes would make it more inclusive for all guests. Overall, a lovely place to dine, and with a slightly expanded menu, it could be even better!
Quarnet — Google review
I ordered a burger and a soft drink and decided to sit in. They threw more than afew free chips which is a lovely touch and will make me come back. The chips are thick and almost have the consistency of double fried chips. Easily the best chipper chips in Dublin. They have a crunch on the outside and are super soft and fluffy inside. The burger had fresh ingredients, plenty moist with sauces, onion and cheese.

First visit and totally enjoyed my meal. Everyone was super friendly and its a great local diner. I had a burger and my friend had the chicken meal. Both meals were excellent and more food than we could finish. Good pricing and good food with a relaxed atmosphere.... you cant ask for more than that.

Brilliant chipper, excellent friendly staff and the best home cut chips you’ll get. Fish box was huge for the price. Couldn’t recommend enough.

I really couldn’t resist. My final meal in Dublin had to be fish and chips. This place seemed to be a perfect candidate. Local and loved. We had a nice chat with the guy looking after us and gobbled the food. We definitely overate. Didn’t need the curry roll 😋
Aron S — Google review
This place is a gem, run by the same family for over 70 years. It still looks as it did when I was a kid. Very few places in Dublin left like this . Norina and her dad Fillippo run this slick operation like a well-oiled machine. A trip to the Liberties without a visit to Fuscos just isn't the same. Best chips anywhere in Dublin plus they take card payments. Thankfully, this is the only change here speed technology. Touching the interior would be a disaster. Highly recommended
Jonathan O — Google review
The fried chicken was very bad!.Just wing portions with no meat on the bones. The burger and chips meal was good but we won't be back soon. The cod meal is usually ok.But bad chicken twice is not a good sign.

Customers rave about the mouthwatering fries, especially when paired with vinegar. Meal deals are reasonably priced at around 10 units of currency.
Excellent place for Take away!! I love the fried chips!! They are really delicious!! Ask for them with vinegar!! The meal deals are around 10€ The burger is ok and the popcorn chicken is really good

the worst restaurant I've been to in Ireland, I waited 25 minutes for food and it still wasn't ready, the burgers were burnt and the rest of the food was cooked but already cold, I was the only one waiting, the staff indifferent, arrogant. Not even a note 1 is not worth it
Alexandru B — Google review
First time eating out of Brunos and have to say the food is top quality and the freshest cleanest chips you will get around
Simon M — Google review
This cannot be called ''Kebbab'', I have never seen anything so bad. I tried it and it has more sauce and salad than meat. It is €7.50 and they charge you €0.50 to collect with the card machine. It's very very bad it's not called Kebab…. I like the chicken is better than this. Is a shame
Adrián — Google review
The chipper that never opens! Honestly it says closed Sundays on the website which is strange in itself but I've walked down on weekday evenings and it was closed. Also walked down yesterday evening (Saturday) and it was closed! She opens when she wants. Never again. Also the woman who owns the place is pig ignorant and don't expect any chips if you didn't order any, every chipper I've ever been to will throw in a scoop but she goes out of her way to tell you your not getting any and you don't. Large chips is tiny for €3 and no extra. Probably how she affords to stay closed half the week.

Scott C — Google review
Crispy chips delicious 🙌🏼Doner kebab I felt there was too much sauce and cabbage in the mix. Maybe in future add fresh lettuce, tomato and onion and it would really enhance the Flavour big time 💯 but the family really enjoyed the takeaway and would order from here again 🙌🏼
M L — Google review
When you want REAL fried chicken and gravy, Bruno's is the place to go. The chicken is amazingly gorgeous, crispy deliciousness on the outside and juicy chicken on the inside - seriously! The chips are proper 'chipper chips' & the chicken gravy is addictive... But what keeps me coming back to Bruno's instead of trying somewhere new? The staff are genuinely friendly and so helpful and nice; and the delivery guy is such a sweetheart and so accommodating ! On a negative note, if you are looking for fabulous side orders, there isn't a huge selection - and the onion rings are a definite no but ... that chicken :)

It's known for being kid-friendly, with a Picolo menu featuring starters, mains, and desserts along with Bambinoccino. The famous doughballs with melting garlic butter are popular among little ones. Stopped at Milano restaurant whilst in the temple bar District for lunch. We each had a pizza and a glass of wine for lunch. The romano style pizza was phenomenal. We were pleasantly surprised and we absolutely loved it. Fantastic.

I’d have to say their pizza is so good. Thats why it’s one of my favorite spot. But unfortunately today’s experience was so bad that i couldn’t enjoy my food. Little flies were everywhere… Even before the food comes it landed on my friend’s drink. Food comes, all over it. Tried to shoo them but it’s impossible. Changed our table, better but again all over our food. So paranoid to eat anything the whole time… p.s these pictures are after we tried everything, i didn’t want to leave a bad review with pictures so i didn’t take at the beginning.

It is very popular place and you need to book a table in advance, as very rarely you can get a table on walk in. Service staff were very professional and polite especially with our kids. Biggest pleasant surprise was kids menu, it’s a first time I see where It was offered starter, main course and dessert for kids. All food looks delicious and tasty, my pizza wasn’t very tasty. Arancini (starter) was perfectly cooked and prepared. Kids loved Babychino. Every dish is freshly prepared as it’s very big turn out and they have a big option for vegans and gluten free. Definitely will come back and recommend to everyone.

Oscars Café Bar is a funky establishment with vintage decor, offering craft beers, world wines, and hearty modern dishes. Named after the Irish gay literary icon Oscar Wilde, it is known for its support and welcoming atmosphere for the LGBT community. With two locations in Dublin, including one at Smithfield Square, it's a popular spot for cocktails, beer, and traditional Irish breakfasts.
I stopped in for a late dinner. I ordered the NY Burger and a Coco Nada. Both were delicious. I was honestly surprised at how good the burger was. I guess I’m used to being disappointed by poorly prepared burgers in the States.

Stayed at Hampton Smithfield to try a less touristy Dublin neighborhood. While my son did his laundry at Mr Tubs we popped into Oscars for a pint of Smithwicks. It was cold and delicious. We got talking with a local family and had another pint while chatting. Got hungry so ordered fish and chips. It was outstanding perfectly cooked fish. Not greasy. Very relaxed authentic Irish place, not a tourist trap. Good craic.

Lucia had excellent recommendations for food and drinks, and everything she suggested was spot on. She checked in regularly without ever being intrusive, and her warm, professional approach really made our visit special. Nestled on Baggot Street, The Waterloo Bar is a vibrant venue that effortlessly combines striking decor with a welcoming atmosphere. With its impressive vaulted ceiling, this classic Irish pub offers an enticing gastropub-style menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Guests can indulge in delightful dishes like the mouth-watering smoked salmon atop Greek or Moroccan salads, as well as hearty options such as fish and chips—perfect for post-match celebrations at nearby venues like the Aviva or RDS.
Accidentally popped in for some food and drinks right before the rugby semifinal. The pub was absolutely jammed. We were lucky to find a table. Hands down the best Guinness in this part of town so far. They are serving simple pub food, but very good quality, fresh and tasty. Surprisingly adequately priced. Service even during high peaks is excellent.

What a delightful surprise to find such an outstanding spot just a short stroll from our hotel (Dylan Hotel). The Waterloo House delivered on every front—food, service, atmosphere, and that rare feeling of being genuinely welcomed. 🧅 The Onion Rings were a crispy, golden revelation—light, flavorful, and dangerously addictive. 🍽️ My wife’s dish? I can’t recall the name, but I do remember her smile. That says it all. 🍺 The beer selection was a standout—diverse, well-curated, and full of local flavor. The bartender guided us with care and offered a small sample to help us choose. I landed on the Wicklow Wolf, and now I’m on a mission to find it back home. It’s that good. 🎨 And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get better, we noticed the picture of Sinéad—a quiet, powerful tribute that added soul to the space. Whether you're in for a pint, a bite, or a moment of calm in the city, The Waterloo House is the kind of place that makes you feel lucky to have found it. We’ll be raising a glass to this memory for a long time.

5 stars all around, what an awesome pub! The seafood chowder was LOADED, the bowl in the picture was the "small" portion... Which was a very generous size! Highly recommend the braised beef and Guinness stew. The meat was tender and had such good flavour. The fish and chips was good, but nothing to write home about.

I know it's a sea food restaurant but I'm not a big fan of sea food, it was a couples date. So I decided to try their irish rib eye steak. I always ask my steaks to be very well done because I hate blood. Also for 29 euro I was very confident that it will taste amazing but I was very wrong. This probably was one of the worst steak I ever had. It was not cooked well at alland the taste was as if it was marinated in milk absolutely disgusting taste. We also ordered linguine and it was ice cold and not what we expected to be. The staff seemed like they were lost and very moody so we didn't even want to try to change it.

Lovely little cafe and chippy. Proper greasy spoons. Breakfast was great here. Visited on a Saturday morning and was quite busy. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Had the Breakfast with Hashbrown's, which was very tasty and hit the spot before a day on the Guinness. Big fan of the white pudding, which I don't get back home in the UK. First of all - the fish here is second to none, absolutely delicious. This unassuming shop has some of the best cod I’ve tasted in Dublin. That being said, the focaccia is alright, and the chips are pretty bland.
Sullivan — Google review
One of Stoneybatter’s best kept secrets. Very friendly staff and good food too, at reasonably low costs. It was quite busy when we went but there was a good, “local takeaway” vibe when we went, with the bodybuilder gentleman behind the counter on very friendly, conversational terms with all of his customers. This “local vibe” is something that’s missing in a lot of “local” takeaways in Dublin these days. They didn’t have southern fried chicken at the time of our visit so we ordered their chicken burger, curry chips and double beef burger. All of which were decent, flavourful and a good way to end a night out in the Stoneybatter area (though admittedly, there are other takeaways in Dublin that do tastier takeaways marginally better). If you’re ever in this part of Dublin, Sorrento’s is a must-try if you’re looking for a decent takeaway.

Very decent chipper, the fried chicken is amazing and the fish and chips are one of the best Ive had around. Batter isn't too thick just right. Fish tastes fresh.

I've been going to this chipper for years so was pretty disappointed by my latest visit. It's usually a good sign of an Irish chipper that when you order a batter sausage they give you a good shovel of chips. On this occasion they gave me about 5 chips. I also asked for an extra bag to double wrap which they wouldn't give me. Within 2 minutes the bag dissolved from the vinegar and fell apart in my hands. Food still tasted nice though

I have 7 years experience working in an Italian chipper and these chips are the best I’ve tasted in Dublin. They kept it open for us when they saw we were really hungry !! Amazing, fresh cut, perfectly salted & vinagered 🤓

It's good when the Aul fella and his son are there, the others not so much, got reheats there for the first time a few weeks ago, and then last week my chips were perfect so it does depend

The best place to go in Dublin, and my absolute favourite place to go for late night chicken nuggets and chips (as well as a nice chat!!) Thanks for always being so kind and friendly 😊 You guys are the best 🌟

I love this takeaway but unfortunately the only delivery option is deliveroo. I have used deliveroo 3 times and twice I never received my order including today from Ranelagh takeaway. I can't order from here anymore for delivery.
