Irish pub

Pub
The Long Hall is a traditional pub in Dublin that has been serving locals and tourists since 1766. The Victorian building is adorned with red-and-white-striped awnings, oak ceilings, and old-fashioned globe lamps, creating a nostalgic ambiance. During the day, it's an ideal spot for a quiet pint of Guinness, while evenings see an influx of sociable locals and visitors enjoying the warm atmosphere. The interiors are filled with trinkets and oddities that transport patrons to a bygone era.
I gave five stars for food, but by food I mean a couple of pints of Guinness and a packet of salted peanuts. A perfectly pulled Guinness is what I came here for and it's what I got. Great atmosphere and fast, friendly service.
Robin D — Google review
Worth a visit as it does have a very Victorian feel to it. Very nice but standard selection of beers. We only popped in for a Guinness while we waited for our next appointment to come around. Very nice place to people watch and relax. The prices were reasonable for the area.

Over the last few years my wonderful partner has been discovering his Irish roots and reconnecting with his Irish family. On a rainy afternoon in Dublin he was excited to share with me one of Dublins most iconic venues that has played its part in his recent odyssey. Upon entering it’s easy to understand why this historic boozer is a firm favourite with the locals and tourists alike. Obviously Guinness was our ‘tipple of choice’…( Like there’s any other when visiting a Dublin institution such as this! ) However, you have to understand when you order this national beverage in Dublin there are a few rules involved… NEVER drink from your pint until the nectar is settled and 100% black in colour. ALWAYS place your pint on a beer mat. - I got ‘schooled’ twice in a non verbal firm but friendly manner by the barman - Sláinte. The bar is very traditional, brass fittings, long case clocks, gloss paint on the walls and vintage branded paraphernalia returning you to the halcyon days of drinking - without the cigarette smoke. The place filled up quickly with locals, regulars and after work drinkers - a very pleasant time was spent but sadly after a couple of pints of the brilliant ‘black stuff’ we had to make our way back outside into the rain taking advantage of the complimentary umbrellas on offer at the door - which is a super nice touch and very useful. Thank you and see you again soon I hope x

This old library may be better than even the Book of Kells. It’s like you’re walking through a Hollywood movie set. The books are beautiful as is all the beautiful dark woodwork. The old manuscripts are beautiful in the middle is cool. The big spinning globe is cool but is out of place. This is a must see in Dublin.
Dr. B — Google review
When I say "food", I mean some of the best pours of Guinness in the Dublin area. Great place. Cool vibe. And some great people behind the bar there to help fix you up with the perfect pint or other liquid libation.
Mo — Google review
No Beamish! There is a pic from a couple years ago but they apparently switch out stouts. They had Clockwork, which was decent. I specifically came for Beamish (there are plenty bars in Dublin that serve it, was trying to see as many as possible).

À great Dublin bar in the heart of the city, well frequented by local Dubs, if you want to escape the Temple Bar crowds and enjoy some nice drinks in a great Dublin pub then The Long Hall is yer only man !!! (Didn’t rate food as we didn’t have any but they certainly do food, check menu online)

Irish pub

Pub
The Palace Bar, located on Fleet Street in Temple Bar, is a Victorian-era establishment that recently celebrated its 200th birthday. Originally a Georgian building, it underwent a Victorian makeover and became popular in the 20th century as a gathering place for Dublin's literary community. Renowned writers such as Flann O'Brien, Patrick Kavanagh, and Brendan Behan frequented the bar.
It's been a long while (years)since I've stumbled upon this traditional Irish pub. The atmosphere was quite, as it was not busy... everything I would have imagined. what was very cool was the mirror partitions that separated the bar stools & just sitting between them taking in the history with a pint.. The bartender that served me is still in some of the current photo's I see on line, so judging from that I'm guessing the palace bar is very while grounded with tradition. I wouldn't miss this place if I were you.

Lovely pub! Visited on a Thursday and Friday night during my holiday in Dublin. Thursday was a nice atmosphere, lively but not overly loud, generally older crowd, mostly irish with a few tourists (like us). Friday was busy but still had seating available upstairs, many people stood outside drinking. Big selection of whiskeys, good beers, a helpful staff.
Shaun R — Google review
It's what you'd expect out of a pub. I asked locals and did research on where I could have the best pint of Guinness, as I frequently drink it, I was not disappointed, this was definitely the best pint of Guinness I've ever had. Their Guinness is rather easy to drink and more on the smooth side than the creamy side, depends on what you like, but this was perfect for us. The Bulmers off the tap was also excellent, it had kept its fizz quite well, as they're usually served via bottle. The barmen were fast and on point, no bullshit, just drinks.
Ye — Google review
Great spot with reasonably priced drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. No food or TVs. Love the sense of privacy, it’s perfect for catching up with friends or just enjoying a quiet night out. Always a solid choice! The guiness is a perfect pour.
Traci T — Google review
Stopped in here for a quick pint. The Guinness did not disappoint. Very cool pub atmosphere and in a great location. The place is very busy and it can be hard to find a seat or even standing room.
Dave H — Google review
We saw the notice saying live trad music on a Sunday night abs since it was Sunday we went up. The guinness was great, the irish coffee too. But the music was fabulous. As the evening went on musicians kept arriving. The music was good traditional music not fake tourist come-all-ye's.
Belfastladdie — Google review
This is a perfect place to enjoy a pint or few. It was busy on a weekday afternoon and we were extremely lucky to find a seat as it got really busy not long after we arrived.
Russell E — Google review
I have been to Dublin many times. It's generally a warm, welcoming place. During this last visit, I noticed a shift. Bar staff doesn't want to engage or answer questions about the history of the establishment or even smile at customers. There just isn't the feel there used to be. The Palace Bar is one of the few places this was not true. The bartenders were warm and the bar itself is absolutely beautiful. The clientele was relaxed and happy. It retains its good feel.

Irish pub
Restaurant
The Brazen Head, located on Bridge Street in Dublin, is a historic pub dating back to 1198 and is officially the oldest pub in Ireland. Its exterior features exposed stonework and vibrant flowers, while the interior offers a variety of bars and snugs. Despite being close to touristy areas, it maintains a relaxed atmosphere where visitors and locals mingle over pints and traditional Irish dishes like Guinness stew or seafood chowder.
Really enjoyed the bacon and cabbage. Seems like a strange combination but I loved it. We went at the opening time and got a table but they filled up very quickly. The atmosphere is nice because everyone is having their own conversations which makes it feel really lively. Food came out quick enough and the Brazen beer more than occupied me during my short wait. Its not expensive either so id highly recommend visiting here on your trip to Dublin.
Damien F — Google review
This place just oozes "special, but unassuming." I got lucky, wandering in and getting a table. However, it seems like one would generally want reservations here, as they are quite busy, even in the mid-afternoon. Staff was awesome. Food was awesome. Beer was awesome. There are several small spaces/room, some of them quieter than others. Choose your own adventure. :-)
Rip W — Google review
After our Guinness Storehouse tour, we wandered about 12 minutes down the road to The Brazen Head, Ireland’s oldest pub and is was a good choice for lunch. The place oozes history and charm, with its stone walls, wooden beams, and cozy corners. We ordered the Irish stew and fish & chips, and both hit the spot. I’d give the edge to the stew; comforting, hearty, and full of flavor. Liked the mash in the stew. Exactly what you crave after a pint or two of the black stuff. The fish & chips weren’t the best we’ve ever had, but still solid. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere felt genuinely Irish without being overdone or staged. A must-stop for a classic Dublin pub lunch. It is a bit kitschy and touristy, sure, but that’s part of the fun at the oldest pub in Dublin. 🍀🍻
Corey T — Google review
Apparently the oldest pub established in 1198. They open at 12 and I would recommend you to come on time just as they fill up pretty fast once they open. I had the traditional brazen beef stew and the brown bread(which was basically Soda bread). It used to be called Guinness stew but they seemed to have since changed it. Taste wise, it wasnt mindblowing. It tasted like tomato soup cooked with thyme. Pretty much thats it. The beef portions were generous but most of the beef weren't exactly tender. They had a chew to it. The male staff over the pub counter doesnt seem too friendly either. He doesnt smile and just seem to have a cold efficiency towards his customers. Overall, the stew was just decent and I would recommend coming here especially just to eat the stew. If ticking off the box of coming to the oldest pub in Ireland is your thing, then yes you should.
SL W — Google review
It was our first time in Dublin and we were looking forward to visiting The Brazen Head. We arrived on a Saturday night, the place was quite packed, but we waited only under 10 minutes until we got seated for food. It was worth every second, the atmosphere was welcoming and felt genuine, the staff was extremely friendly and polite. We had the Buttermilk Fried Crispy Chicken Burger and the Apple Crumbles, both excellent. We'll definitely visit again.
István J — Google review
My family of five visited on a weeknight at 7pm. Had a short wait for a table, but nothing of consequence. We sat in at a lovely table on the 3rd floor, in a well decorated room with great atmosphere. Service was prompt and courteous, with our drinks arriving quickly. The menu was what I consider classic fare, but still a good selections. We selected only 3 food items, and all were made well. Special marks for the beef stew. We didn’t stay for drinks but the atmosphere in the drinking areas was pleasant, and seemed well suited for couples & groups. Average cost of an entree was around €20.
Robert C — Google review
The Brazen Head, known as the oldest pub in Ireland, attracts visitors from all over the world — and we were no exception. We came on a Sunday morning, and although the pub only opens at noon, by 11:30 a line had already formed outside. The place is full of atmosphere, with a very interesting and traditional interior that makes you feel the history right away. The food may not be extraordinary, but it was tasty and satisfying. I can only imagine how lively and packed it must get in the evenings. The prices aren’t exactly cheap, but they are still lower than what you’ll usually find in the Temple Bar area. Overall, The Brazen Head is absolutely worth a visit — not just for the food and drinks, but for the experience of sitting in such a historic and atmospheric spot in Dublin.
Natalia P — Google review
Visiting this pub was one of the bucket list experiences in Dublin! I was told it’s the oldest Irish pub in the city. It was a fantastic visit !!! great atmosphere, especially with the All-Ireland hurling final happening that day. The crowd was buzzing with excitement. There was also live music in another bar. We really enjoyed our time there.

Live music venue
Pub
The Cobblestone, located in Smithfield, Dublin, is a traditional Irish music pub owned by a family with deep roots in the city's music scene. It's a favorite among locals and visitors alike for its nightly live trad music sessions featuring some of Ireland's top musicians. The cozy venue offers an authentic Irish vibe and is known for its lively atmosphere.
Absolutely lovely - I've seen a few sessions in my native Edinburgh, but it's hard to beat an Irish trad session in Ireland proper. I even got to see some Uilleann pipes played. Great pints too. Contrary to some other reviews, on a rainy Thursday night, it wasn't too packed - I got a great view of the musicians and within half an hour managed to bag myself a barstool at the bar for front row seats! I'd definitely say to come earlier though: the crowd was quieter and more respectful at 8:30 when I arrived than at 10:30 - but even at 10:30 there was still a loud SHUSH! sent up whenever somebody raised their voice over a comfortable background hubbub 😄
Andy W — Google review
No food here but a great atmosphere. There was traditional music in the corner and a healthy crowd of locals and tourists in the house. The Guinness was good and the bar staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a trip if you are in Dublin

Great local vibe, live music & friendly staff Loved the warm, local atmosphere. Great selection of beers and cider, and the live traditional music made it even more special. The staff was super friendly. One of my favorite bar in Dublin.

This is a beverages only pub. I went for the music and had a great time. The wait staff was very helpful in selecting an Irish ale I would like, and gave me samples to help me decide! Not a lot of seating, but people came and went, so in the end, we had great seats at the bar close to the action!
Amy G — Google review
The best pub in Dublin and has been for years. The cats outta the bag though because every tourist knows now thanks to Colbert!!!! But it's still my favorite pint and the musicians that flow through the front end are always stellar. Doesn't matter when you go, it's always a marvelous time with friends.
Paul B — Google review
Great little bar with local musicians. Really enjoyed the visit. We didn’t try the food, if they have any... not sure.
Richard A — Google review
The Cobblestone Pub – Come for the Music, Stay for the Humanity We came early for the live traditional music — and ended up staying for hours. The music was everything we hoped for: raw, real, and magnetic. But what truly elevated our night was the people behind the bar and the feeling of being welcomed into something much bigger than a pub. While waiting for the session to start, we had the chance to chat with the staff, which was not only fun but surprisingly educational. One bartender kindly clued me in on an important cultural lesson: never order a Black and Tan in Ireland. I had no idea the term refers to the British paramilitary forces sent to suppress Irish independence in the 1920s. It’s an understandably loaded phrase here — not something to casually say at the bar. Grateful for the gentle correction and the history lesson I’ll never forget. I also walked away with newfound respect for Guinness and the subtle factors that influence its taste. Ever heard of invisible congealed milk solids? They can cling to a glass if it’s been used for an Irish coffee and not rinsed well, and they noticeably affect the pour. I’ll never look at a pint the same way again. Special shoutout to Camille, the most intuitive bar server I’ve ever encountered. She’s French, and her quiet command of the room was impressive — kind, proactive, and deeply attuned. She encouraged the quieter guests to order without pressure and even offered water to someone who didn’t want a drink. No ego, no flash — just genuine hospitality. I watched her treat everyone with the same care. We stayed for a few hours of music, and it felt like being part of a living tradition — not just a show. The Cobblestone has soul. If you’re visiting Dublin and want to feel something real, go early, grab a seat, and let the night carry you.
Kelly B — Google review
Every tourguide in Dublin strongly recommended to go to the cobblestone to experience the irish traditional live music, so I did. Absolutely worth it. All the musicians were great. Just so sad that it was my last day in Dublin.

Located on Dame Lane in Dublin, The Stags Head is a historic Victorian pub with a charming atmosphere. Dating back to the 18th century, it features beautiful interiors with high ceilings, wood-panelled walls, stained glass windows, and wrought-iron chandeliers. This iconic pub was a favorite haunt of Michael Collins during the War of Independence.
Stopped in during our trip to Dublin for a pint of Guinness and loved the classic pub atmosphere — rich wood interiors, great service, and one of the best-poured pints we had in the city. We ended up returning later that night for their comedy show upstairs, and it was a brilliant decision. The lineup was hilarious, the room had a cozy, intimate feel, and the vibe was spot-on. A perfect blend of old-school charm and lively entertainment. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a proper Dublin pub experience with a little something extra!

Met up with some friends on a Saturday afternoon. The Guinness was excellent 5 out 5, service was friendly and prompt. Food was very good. There was a fabulous atmosphere on the eve before the all Ireland hurling final. The pub has an interesting history which always adds to the experience.

Visited The Stag's Head 2 different days while I was there and the food and drinks were great! The Ham & Cheese Toastie....so good!! Great pub, friendly staff and great place to have a pint of Guinness while enjoying the Victorian interior. Definitely a place to visit and will be back again! It will get very busy so you have to time it right to get a table or bar stool. It filled up quickly after I got there on both occasions.

The best spicy burger I ever ate! Although I don't like bacon it really had a taste. I also recommend Rockshore iris lager. Very polite stuff. You can sit wherever you want. You are very welcome to do so.

Beautiful decor old style pub, cosy and bustling. We did not eat here so could not comment. Bar staff were attentive and served quick. Gets busy quickly and we struggled to find more space. I was a bit uncomfortable as one of the people at the bar (customer) seemed drunk and unpleasant but this can happen anywhere but the bar staff did remove him. Well worth a visit!

Irish pub
Toners, located on Baggot Street in Dublin, is a long-established pub with a rich history dating back to 1818. It is renowned for serving one of the best pints of Guinness in the city and has captured the hearts of famous figures like WB Yeats. The pub exudes old-world charm with its traditional wooden snug area and original features from Victorian times.
Want to get a feel for a local pub in Dublin - this is your spot. Pub has a lot of character, huge heated outdoor seating ( Toner’s Yard). Great place to hang out with friends and a few pints.
Sac C — Google review
Arrive in Dublin on Sunday and what do you do? Have a drink in a few bars maybe? Toners was one such place. A bit of an Irish institution. Crazily busy but still found a table. On the surface it’s mad. But boy is it well run. Table service works brilliantly so no waiting. Nice pint or two of Guinness ( read the sign) Smithies red ale was also a great pint. Nice music going on and a wonderful atmosphere. Would I go back? You bet I would 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇳 Recommended 😁

Was looking for a good Irish pub - not a crazy bar/restaurant. Toners checked all the boxes. Popular and full on a good night. Almost private and serene on an early Sunday afternoon. The proprietor was awesome, polite and friendly and great place to get a good Irish pub experience without the craziness.

Great atmosphere. We are happy we stopped in for a Guinness. Felt like this is where the locals go, but maybe it is not, idk either way we enjoyed it.

Always a lively pub, especially from Thursdays to Saturdays. If you want a seat you need to get in early. If you’re happy standing you can come at anytime - just be aware that on match day many supporters come here before, during, and after the match, so it can get exceptionally busy. Guinness from inside is usually a 8/10, however I’ve had some dodgey pours and some exceptional pours so take that as an average.

Toners is one of the coziest and most authentic pubs in Dublin — perfect for a relaxed afterwork pint. They don’t serve food, but the great thing is you can bring your own. Right across the street is Cirillo’s, one of the best Italian pizzerias in town. Great Guinness, warm lighting, wooden tables, and that timeless pub charm you just can’t fake

Really cool spot in a great area of dublin. Classic pub inside, with a nice courtyard that is covered in the back. Very lively and a good crowd. Lots of spots to sit, but does get quite busy.

Step back in time with this pub. We sat in the " snug" and were very well looked after by the staff. Really nice wholesome atmosphere which I think sets this pub apart from it's competition.

Pub
The Celt is a cozy and lively pub located in the Northside of Dublin city center. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering traditional Irish music every night and a convivial atmosphere. The pub exudes rustic charm with its walls adorned with memorabilia, live music performances, and hearty bar menu.
This place was a fantastic experience for us! The atmosphere, the flavors, and the service were all spot on! We came here based on a recommendation, and it did not disappoint! We tried everything from the soup to the dessert! Unfortunately, I can't give you any names, but the lady server was incredibly kind, as was the guy with the Nirvana socks and the friendly blue-eyed man! 😄 We received such a warm welcome on our very first day in Dublin — it's something we'll remember for a long time!

The Celt was such a treat for us to find. I would recommend calling ahead to make a reservation on weekends or peak days as it was obviously a local favorite. We were fortunate that they let us snag a table for three that had a reserved sign. The food was delicious, we had the roast beef, bangers and mash (our servers favorite) and the cheese and pear raviolini. All amazing as our plates were cleaned entirely. The vibe is classic Irish with great music playing and eclectic decor including historical and old photos throughout. We would definitely come back here. Quick note on accessibility, this is not a step-free establishment unfortunately. Steps into the building, steps throughout, and steps down to the bathroom make this inaccessible for those with disabilities. You'll find this to be common with most older buildings in Dublin.

Local pub fare which we enjoyed (but not the highest quality pub fare). Great atmosphere. On their website, ask for a reservation, in the front room. On a Wednesday, they did not hold us to 90 minutes. Book a dinner at 8:30; music starts at 9:30. Good service. Cozy.
Eric S — Google review
Came by for a late dinner on a Thursday at around 8:30 with my husband and my 8-month old daughter. The pub is big, with an additional back area. It looked like the front is more for grabbing drinks, and the back is more for dining - with tables, and a more inviting atmosphere. They have live music - not sure if it's every night or what time it starts, so it is pretty loud in there. Luckily, we came prepped with noise-cancelling headphones for the baby, so she was fine. We ordered a few Guinnesses, and the Traditional Beef & Guinness Stew (stewed Irish beef & root vegetables with Guinness brown bread), and the Clonanny Farm Bangers & Mash (served with onion gravy). I'm typically not a fan of stews (this was my husband's order), since the meat is usually tough - but the flavor was good. I liked the sauce with the brown bread. I enjoyed the bangers & mash much more. The sausage was flavorful, as was the onion gravy. If you're looking for a slightly more upscale pub (and live music), then the Celts Pub may be a good fit for you.

Awesome pub! Great drinks, good food, and kind people. Went here both days on a quick weekend visit. Definitely will come back if I’m in Dublin again!

Great place, I found it by chance! I tried the famous Irish beef stew and it was absolutely amazing!!! I really enjoyed it. Staff was attentive and kind. Didn't appreciate that a slice of bread costed 2 euros and was not included in the price of the main course, but this may be the same in other places. In general it was super and I would visit again!

We were only visiting Dublin for one whole day so I was very meticulous in researching the best pub to have dinner and a drink! We were not let down! The Celt is an amazingly ambient and friendly pub. We loved the service and our food. It is an alladins cave inside! Great music. Just brilliant.

Nestled in the Dublin Mountains, Johnnie Fox's Pub is a traditional Irish establishment with a rich history dating back to the 18th century. Originally a small holding farm that provided refuge for Irish fighters during the 1798 Rebellion, it has evolved into a beloved pub known for its live Irish music, storytelling, and hooley nights. The pub offers stunning mountain views, cozy interiors with open fires, and even welcomes dogs in a designated area.
One of Ireland’s oldest pubs, situated up in the Dublin mountains. As soon as you arrive and walk in, you can sense the Irish history and tradition within the pub. Beautifully decorated and very nostalgic. The food is also excellent and reasonably priced for how popular the pub is. The prawns are cooked in a nice buttery and spicy sauce. The main are decent size. I was too stuffed to try dessert but they looked fantastic. Only problem is I had to drive so I could only manage one solid pint of G. Would have loved to had 9 more. If you’re in Dublin, do find the time to have a meal or evening here. You won’t be disappointed.

A real, authentic Irish restaurant. I definitely recommend making a reservation because it gets incredibly crowded, and it has happened that we couldn't get a table without one! The food is delicious and prepared quickly, and the service was fast and kind! The atmosphere of the place is exceptional, I recommend it to everyone who visits Ireland :)

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Everything here is beautiful, and the food and the atmosphere. We've been countless times, and we'll definitely come back again and again. Be sure to book a table, otherwise there's a very high probability of just not getting in and not eating these goodies!

Top score for a fantastic pub. We booked a table, our server was Charlie, She was excellent, I have severe dairy and egg allergies, nothing was too much trouble and everything was checked out thoroughly, thanks to Noelia and the chefs I had beef cheeks with an alternative to the mash, thank you. We enjoyed drinks after by an open fire. This is such a unique place. We stayed over in the carpark in our campervan and had a lovely night sleep , we will definitely return, hope the beef cheeks stay on the menu.

Bowe's Lounge Bar is a cozy and quiet spot located on Fleet Street, just a short walk from Temple Bar in Dublin. It offers an extensive selection of whiskeys, including excellent Scotch and Irish options, as well as American and Japanese varieties. The bar is often overlooked by tourists, making it a peaceful retreat away from the bustling city pubs.
Dropped in for a couple of pints last Saturday night after a meal in town. I have to say the atmosphere in Bowes is always great. Friendly staff and just the buzz in the place is always spot on. We had a few pints of their delicious Guinness which is certainly up there on a par with the best pints around. I would highly recommended you visit next time you are in the area.

Exceptional pint of Guinness. We (6 mixed-race men) were welcomed here on Tuesday after being refused service at Mulligans by a racist barman. We felt down due to our treatment and Bowes made us feel welcomed. We came back on Wednesday morning before our flight back home, though sadly we are unlikely to return to Dublin due to the treatment at Mulligan’s

Grogan's, a historic pub in Dublin, has been a hub for literary and artistic gatherings since the 1970s. The absence of music and television encourages lively conversations among its bohemian clientele. The pub is known for its famous toasted cheese sandwiches made with Irish cheddar and local ham, which pair perfectly with a pint of your choice. Its vibrant outdoor terrace on South William Street is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.
Great local bar with unique atmosphere!! Fair price on the drinks, specially on Guinness!! Nice neighborhood and less turistic than temple bar with a much better beer vs cost !! I would recommend this bar to anyone looking for a good experience in Dublin!!

This pub was recommended to us by our tour guide and oh my God, she was right. The atmosphere is amazing, there is no music just people talking vibing and drinking. It’s so simple but so magical at the same time. I’m not even the biggest fan of beer but I had two Guinnesses which together with the toast tasted very good. The guys working at the bar are the nicest people we met in Ireland. Please do yourself a favour and go there 💚🤍🧡

This is a great spot for a beer. Very much a when in Rome spot… The Guinness just tastes better in Ireland. Did not try the food. Filled with locals - had a beer with a woman in a business suit on my left and a guy holding up the bar on my right. All packed in and all drinking Guinness.
Jason M — Google review
Stepping into Grogan's Castle Lounge on South William Street feels less like entering a Dublin pub and more like arriving at the vibrant heart of the city's literary and artistic soul. In a downtown area constantly reinventing itself, Grogan's remains gloriously, steadfastly, the same—a haven for conversation, art, and, most importantly, one of the best pints of Guinness in all of Dublin. The reputation is well-earned. Whether it's the care taken in the two-part pour, the high turnover of kegs keeping the stout impossibly fresh, or just the pure, unadulterated "craic" of the setting, the pint of Guinness here is exceptional. It arrives with a perfect, creamy dome, velvety smooth from the first sip to the last. For Guinness aficionados, this is a pilgrimage site—a masterclass in how the Black Stuff should taste. But Grogan's is about more than just a supreme stout; it’s about the unique atmosphere. You won't find loud music or flashing televisions here. Instead, the soundtrack is the steady, warm hum of genuine conversation, debate, and laughter. The walls are adorned with original artwork (all of which is for sale), giving the space a bohemian, gallery-like feel. It's a genuine melting pot where poets, regulars, students, and tourists rub shoulders in cozy camaraderie. And a review of Grogan's wouldn't be complete without mentioning the iconic toasted sandwich. Simple, old-school, and satisfyingly cheesy, this classic Irish ham and cheddar toastie is the perfect, necessary accompaniment to the world-class pint. Grogan’s is an essential Dublin experience. It honors the best traditions of the Irish pub: great drinks, simple food, and conversation with friendly staff and fellow patrons. If you want an authentic, unforgettable pint of Guinness, skip the noise and head straight for the quiet, captivating magic of Grogan's.
Sarang A — Google review
J.J. Grogan's is my favorite pub in Ireland for many reasons. First, they pour as fine a creamy pint of Guinness as you can find anywhere in Ireland. Though they never stop pouring beer, they treat each customer as an honored guest. And if you come back tomorrow, Karl the barman will remember your name and the beer you had the day before. If you are looking for a pub steeped in Irish history and filled with regulars so interesting you'll want to meet them all, this is your place. There's no music here for a reason. You won't see people scrolling TikTok. Grogan's is a real place where you can meet and enjoy talking to real people. And while you're doing so, get them to make you a ham and cheese and tomato and onion toastie. And if you say hold the onions today, Karl the barman will remember it tomorrow when you come. Grogan's is special. Go there and have a special pint and an experience you will never forget.

The Temple Bar Pub is an iconic and legendary venue in the heart of Dublin's Temple Bar area. With a history dating back to the 1300s, it remains a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Known for its vibrant nightlife, live performances, and famous red exterior, it also offers a licensed garden where visitors can enjoy craft beers and a delicious food menu featuring items like oysters and toasties.
The Temple Bar Pub: An Irish Institution (Brace Yourself!) ☘️💚 If you're looking for an authentic, quiet, deep-conversation Irish pub experience, keep walking. If you're looking for pure, unadulterated, tourist-fueled, high-energy Dublin fun, **The Temple Bar Pub** is your pilgrimage site. It's loud, it's packed, and yes, the pints are famously expensive, but you simply *must* go once, just to say you've done it! This place runs on charisma, traditional music, and sheer volume. The music is almost constant, the crowd is global, and the atmosphere is electric. It is a spectacle of Irish culture (as interpreted for a worldwide audience!) and an absolutely brilliant spot for people-watching and soaking up the chaotic charm of the area it is named after. The sheer volume of red paint and old whiskey bottles might make it feel like a themed museum, but the warmth of the traditional music and the sheer joy of the crowd keep it alive. Grab a pricey pint, fight your way to a spot, and let the session wash over you. It's a rite of passage! You'll leave feeling a bit poorer but undeniably happier. It’s a five-star experience in madness, and sometimes, that’s exactly what the soul needs. A huge thanks to the bar staff who manage to pour those pints at lightning speed—you deserve a medal and a quiet retreat! 🫂🇸🇪 5/5 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🇻🇦🕊✝️🕯🙏🏻

Tourist trap but I'd go again. I knocked service down cuz a server gave himself a generous tip and I didn't catch it cuz I was having fun and they know it. My 1st server was great. Ya order either by QR code or grab servers as they walk by. Grab a seat anywhere, it doesn't matter if ya know people or not, everyone is family. Be sure to select your own tip, especially if you're American, they'll kinda expect it but ya don't have to. Lesson learned, don't just tap the machine, check it. Food was fine but everything was priced slightly higher than other pubs. Music was loud but good. It's crowded and hard to chat. Overall, good visit, box checked, plenty of other fun pubs. Check your bill closely and no, I wouldn't bring kids to this pub at night, maybe during the early evening.

During my visit in October, this was one of the most enjoyable bars I went to, beautifully decorated with a Christmas theme. The white-haired singer performing on stage was an incredibly talented artist who took the bar’s atmosphere to another level. When we went, it was absolutely packed we had a hard time getting inside, but that didn’t stop us. While ordering a pint at the bar, I met two Irish guys who bet me that I couldn’t drink my Guinness all the way down to the logo in one go and of course, I couldn’t manage it 😅 The Guinness was excellent though, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet 🍻

O'Donoghues Bar, located on Merrion Row in Dublin, is a renowned traditional music pub that has been at the heart of the city's folk and traditional music scene since the 1960s. It gained fame for launching the career of The Dubliners and continues to host nightly live sessions featuring classic and modern interpretations of Irish music. The bar also offers simple en suite bedrooms for visitors.
Great little spot just off the Green! Incredibly cozy and friendly with a very nice drink selection. You can sit outside in the large patio area, or settle in at the bar or the snug style seating in the rear. Enjoy the wall filled with photos of locals and celebrities while you enjoy your drink. Kehoes Pub, located just off Grafton Street, is a charming and unpretentious bar steeped in Victorian nostalgia. Dating back to 1803, it is one of the city's oldest pubs and has been frequented by literary figures such as James Joyce and Patrick Kavanagh. The pub features classic wooden bars, original grocery counters, stained glass windows, vintage advertisements, and traditional snug areas.
We wanted to try Guinness in Dublin and we chose this place. It has a vibe of an Irish pub. We ordered and payed for our beers at the bar. The poured the glasses and waited for it to cook, once done we took our glasses in one of their rooms, sat and enjoyed. Now I didn't try too much Guinness to tell if this was the best or not but we did enjoy our time. By the time we were out it was already too crowded the streets were filled with people enjoying afternoon with their drinks.

Stopped by Kehoe’s Pub in Dublin and absolutely loved it! You can really feel the history in this place — over 200 years old, yet still full of life and character. The wooden interiors, cozy snugs, and old-school charm make it feel like stepping back in time (in the best way possible). I had a pint of Guinness, and honestly, it was one of the best pours I’ve ever had — creamy, smooth, and perfectly settled. There’s something about having a Guinness in a place like Kehoe’s that just feels right. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a great mix of locals and visitors. Staff were friendly and quick, even when it was busy. Definitely a must-visit if you want an authentic Dublin pub experience. Can’t wait to go back! 🍺

One of the best Guinness in Dublin. Staff are unbelievable. Great mix of locals and tourists alike.
Joseph C — Google review
We’d heard great things about Kehoe’s — a lovely, traditional Dublin pub — and were excited to visit. We were lucky to find stools right at the bar, or so we thought. It was busy, and the two bar staff were clearly working hard and efficiently. My husband ordered a Guinness while we waited, but we couldn’t help overhearing the older bald barman make a rather unfriendly comment to the younger female barmaid about another customer who’d just left. They were stood right in front of us when he said this. It felt unnecessarily negative, but we carried on regardless. A little later, I ordered an Irish Coffee from the same barmaid, who began preparing it in front of us — fascinating to watch, especially as I’d never seen one made before. The older barman then took over and, out of nowhere, snapped at my husband with, “What are you looking at?” He seemed genuinely irritated and continued muttering about people staring at him all day. It was rude, intimidating, and completely uncalled for. We would normally enjoy a bit of banter, but his tone and attitude made the atmosphere really uncomfortable. I actually felt embarrassed for the younger barmaid, who stayed professional throughout. Thankfully, a couple of other barmen later came on shift and were far more pleasant, but the damage was done. We stayed for a few drinks but felt uneasy for the rest of our visit. It’s a real shame — Kehoe’s is a beautiful pub with great character, but one miserable barman’s attitude completely spoiled the experience for us. €40 for three pints of Guinness and two Irish Coffees shouldn’t leave you feeling like you’ve done something wrong just by being there. We're not strangers to Dublin, so know that this is not normal behaviour from Dubliners. Embarrassing, that man should do better!
Jude K — Google review
Kehoe’s Pub has such an amazing atmosphere — one of those classic Dublin spots where you feel the energy of the city. It’s always buzzing, especially outside on a sunny day, with people enjoying their pints and the beautiful flowers on the building. A must-visit for the authentic Dublin pub experience!
Anna K — Google review
No visit to Dublin is complete without an iconic pub, and Kehoe’s is among its best. We ordered a pint and a half once again, though the barman made it clear that “half a Guinness” is not quite the done thing and I was admonished. Paired with a packet of Manhattan Cheese & Onion crisps, this was the Dublin experience distilled.

This beloved spot showcases live Irish music every night of the week, making it a go-to destination for those looking to soak up authentic sounds while enjoying hearty fare.
This place is great!!! I loved the atmosphere!!! Live music was amazing!!!!! Get there early and get a table downstairs. We had a very large group and the only place they could accommodate us was up stairs away from the music. We got there early before the dinner rush but we could definitely tell they had gotten busy. One of our tables that had ordered the same time we did didn’t get their food until everyone else had already finished their meals. We had to ask a couple of times where the food was. We had the bangers and mash and the mashed potatoes and gravy were amazing!!! Also had the pork and apple pot pie and that was good as well! We highly recommend for the atmosphere, drinks and live music!!!

Such a nice place. We arrived 15 minutes before the kitchen closed, and they still served us without any complaints. The food was very good, and it felt like a great Irish experience. The absolute highlight of the night was the AMAZING performance by Jake Suleman, he left both me and my colleague with our mouths wide open. This man has insane talent, and thanks to him, the restaurant had an incredible atmosphere.

Loved the cozy vibe! The live music added great energy, and the barrel tables with mismatched furniture gave it real character. I had the lamb stew, which was hearty and delicious, but the star was the chocolate pudding…gooey, warm, smooth, and perfectly balanced. A bit loud with the music, but totally worth it!

Not bad at all but I probably wouldn’t go again. They claim to have the Best Shepherds Pie / Cottage Pie (Local name) but it was just average. Not really blown away with the food.

For our 3rd night in Dublin we wanted to have dinner in the famous " Temple Bar District " so we decided on the Old Storehouse. Upon entering it was confusing as to go upstairs looking for a hostess or into the bar to the right or even wait in the entry area. Nobody came so we got a few Guinness's in the bar. A wait person finally came over & seated us in the odd spot of where we came in just below the stairs. First of all this is a very loud place, im not sure if its the acoustics or just that many rowdy patrons but we figured we'd stay & eat. We ordered the Pork Pie & The Beef Casserole. Both were very good especially the latter. All in all they have great food but its too loud & it was a little on the pricey side so its doubtful we'd come back.
Eric O — Google review
Lovely experience, very busy with a real alive atmosphere. Had to wait a little while to be seated for food. Was very loud in there while eating because of the live music but the music gave a great atmosphere. Food was good, cottage pie full of flavour

This was a 10 out of 10 experience! We went in the afternoon for lunch to try traditional Irish dishes. There were four of us, we all got something different so we could all try for things. They had live music playing. The atmosphere was lively and fun but we could still hold a conversation at the table. Let’s talk about the food. OMG The Traditional Guinness and Irish Beef Casserole is every savory stew dream thrown into one dish. Filled with veggies and hearty portion of beef it is absolutely rich and deeply delicious. Say yes to this. Irish Cottage Pie was the reason we stopped in. I make a version at home in the states and wanted to see if I was close. It was delicate and delicious. The ground beef was so finely chopped that it felt almost puréed, mixed with the most finely diced veggies with a generous about of dense mashed potatoes. It was a knock out dishes! The roasted root veggies on the side just added extra value to the already generous meal. Bangers and Mash - traditional Irish sausage over mashed potatoes ands gravy. Delicious and dependable. Homemade Irish Pork & Apple Crust Pie - Wowza! The mix of savory flavor with a hint of the apple and the perfect crust will live rent free in my head for a long time. A must try!!!!
R L — Google review
Delicious pub food. Some of the best we have had on our visit to the city. The Guinness and Irish Beef Casserole was extraordinary. The chowder also a highlight. We’ve heard the music is quite the experience but the evening we stopped there was no room inside. Get there early for dinner! We returned the next day for lunch.

McDaids is a traditional pub located just off Grafton Street in Dublin, Ireland. The interior features stained glass and dark wood, with an ornate high ceiling that immediately catches the eye upon entering. The pub's history dates back to the mid-19th century and it has retained its original style and charm despite being situated in a bustling area. It was a popular spot for Irish post-war writers and continues to attract patrons seeking an authentic atmosphere.
What a lovely little pub with a really friendly owner. Went to see the Phil Lynott statue and it was pouring down. Pub hadn't quite opened but we were welcomed in and had a great pint of Guinness and looked after. Also got given a couple of Guinness T Shirts. What Ireland is all about. Reminds me of folk in my home town of Liverpool. Nice to be nice.

We stopped by last Friday afternoon whilst in town shopping. firstly I have to say the staff were a joy to interact with, polite and very helpful. as you can imagine for a warm, dry Friday afternoon the watering hole was full of locals and tourists which made for a great atmosphere. The pint of Guinness was very good and not too pricey at €7.20 for the location. It was great for myself and herself to sit at the bar and try to identify the characters in the old photos. I would definitely recommend you drop in for a pint if near by, I will definitely be back soon.
Joe K — Google review
It was a pleasant atmosphere, but people kept smoking in the doorway, which was unpleasant. The bartender kindly asked the two gentlemen twice to move, but they didn't go far. Otherwise, it's a really cool spot for a pint. There is some neat history on the walls to read about.

David is a quintessential Irish Barkeep. Love the history of the Pub and friendly regulars that helped us find our way to lunch. Drinks were delicious and cold.

Nice spot for a pint; definitely more of a local watering hole than a tourist spot which is great. Packed to the gills with patrons, lots of whom seemed to be regulars, so service was a bit rushed. Only downside was my Guinness pint was also a bit rushed and wasn’t the greatest. Still worth a visit!

This bar is a staple location for nights out you never know if it will be a quite chat with friends over a pint or meeting new people leading to new adventure's. However it is more expensive than other bars in the area, I paid a euro to a euro fifty cent more here for the same drinks I hot in another bar less than 4 minutes walk away.

A must stop. Beautiful building friendly locals and good pints.
Jordan C — Google review
A small room traditional old pub. I stopped for a Guiness late at noon time. I asked for finger food to pair my beer only to be told that no food is served. Very few people around and much quiet site at this time. A few people were sipping their drinks sitting on stools next to a couple of black barrels in a small yeard at the entrance door. Walls are painted in dark colors and fully covered by pictures and ads signs. I was impressed by the decorative tiles behind the bar! I hope place is more vivid at a later time within the day. If you are fan of the Thin Lizy irish rock group take a photo of the Phil Lynott bronze statue just opposite the pub entrance door.

Mulligan's, an 18th-century pub located on Poolbeg Street near Trinity College in Dublin, is a no-nonsense establishment with a loyal clientele and a lack of pretentiousness. With a history dating back to 1854 and hosting esteemed guests like John F. Kennedy and James Joyce, it's steeped in tradition. The pub is renowned for serving the best pint of Guinness in Dublin and is also famous for its delicious Dublin stew.
Friendly service and friendly customers at the bar. Not crowded at 16:50 on a Tuesday in May. Lovely pint of Guinness. Never had one poured so slowly in the UK. I’ve learnt something new!!

"We don't serve food, as we find it gets in the way of people's drinking," quoted from the bar tender. This is one of the few places for a proper glass of Guinness. Good Irish bar. Not for kids.

You never go wrong with Mulligan’s. Maybe it`s Dublin’s most iconic pub.that might have changed little since James Joyce based one of his stories there over a century ago. You can feel the 250-year-old history in every corner and it’s still famous all over Ireland for its great Guinness.
Christoph D — Google review
This pub keeps its authentic vibe, even though it’s cozy and always packed. If you’re into literature, fun fact: it’s even mentioned in James Joyce’s work. They’re also known for serving one of the best pints of Guinness in Ireland—grab one and see for yourself!

Mulligans is a must for anyone looking for a real Irish Pub in Dublin city centre. The Guinness taps here get more physical contact than Donald Trumps mobile phone!! One of the best, if not the best pint of Guinness in Dublin City!! Service always on point, place is always hopping, no mater the time of day!! A must stop spot for anybody looking to experience real Dublin

My first time visiting Mulligan's but not my last. This is a fascinating pub with a fantastic history it was a little quiet at the time I was there. The Guinness was very good unfortunately it had a slight after taste probably caused from detergent on the glass. Guinness 4.5 out of 5.

O'Neills Pub & Kitchen is a historic venue located in Dublin, with a layout that includes a rooftop beer garden and antique fittings. The pub has been licensed for over 300 years and is situated near the Temple Bar Cultural Quarter and Trinity College. It prides itself on serving high-quality traditional Irish food and drink in a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features classic dishes such as the full Irish breakfast made with locally sourced ingredients.
We visited the pub on a sunny Sunday around 5:30 PM, and there were still plenty of free tables. Inside, it’s quite dark but very cozy and inviting. We ordered two beers with our food. The Shepherd’s Pie (€18.25) was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Some of the meat was nicely seared and crispy — for me, it was the best Shepherd’s Pie I’ve ever had. The Beef Stew with Guinness (€18.25) had a rich, hearty flavor. As a small side, it came with very tasty green beans and carrots, along with a few potatoes. The stew also had large chunks of carrot and celery, which added a unique and wonderful flavor. It was served with a side of bread and butter. The toilets were clean, and the staff was very kind and friendly. If we’re ever in Dublin again, we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Love the old school pub vibe here. Amazing food! We had cottage pie, potato and leek soup, the number nine pizza, and the spicy nachos. All were delicious and huge portions. You just walk in, find a table, and order food at the bar. We went Tuesday night at 7:30 and found lots of open tables and seating.

Our first meal in Dublin (lunch) and it was amazing! We had Irish stew, Guinness stew, tomato soup, and cottage pie. All were very tasty. It's self service was rather easy and nice. Order at the bar and get a # to put on the table. Definitely recommend.

We came to this place looking for traditional Irish fare and boy o boy did they not disappoint. It’s open tables and order at bar. We ordered the Beef nachos, cottage pie and beef casserole. Everything was amazing with great flavor. If you are in Dublin, do drop by and you would relish the food.
Priya G — Google review
Just your typical trad Irish pub. Traditional Irish stew was basically an unseasoned sopa de res, nothing spectacular. Corned beef Ruben was definitely better of the 2. Perhaps if you’re going at a livelier time & order more drinks than we did it will be better
Holly K — Google review
The service was great. I had a grilled chicken Ceasars salad that had bacon in it which was different but actually good. The other burgers we ordered were also delicious. The atmosphere was fun in the lower bar. If you want a quieter place to talk go to an upper level. There are many floors with steps to use the bathroom so that may be an issue for some. The guy that played the guitar was amazing and had our bunch of girls singing and dancing all night. I would definitely go here again!

Neary's is a traditional Irish pub situated near the back entrance of the Gaiety Theatre, making it a popular spot for actors and theater enthusiasts. The pub exudes an old-school charm with its lack of modern distractions like TVs or music, and its staff dressed in pressed white shirts and dicky bows. Despite being located just off Grafton Street, Neary's offers a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a well-brewed Guinness.
One of my favourite pubs in town. A place with more than 100-year-old history. It's a mandatory stop every time I have visitors or guests. I love their atmosphere, their menu, and their selection of spirits, wines and beers; specially the local craft ones. Their gigs upstairs are unmissable.

A beautiful historic bar with several rooms including a comfortable lounge upstairs. I enjoyed the decor and the service, but the food options were very limited.

Finding a reasonable lunch spot in the city centre is such a challenge and it shouldn’t be. The menu outside attracted us, seemed decent at a reasonable price considering the central location. Now, I may be quite a hungry hungry hippo for a medium sized woman approaching middle age, but I’d still wager there are people with bigger appetites than me. Is it too much to ask not to be left hungry after a €12.50 sandwich? I wish I had the menu description at hand, it said something about sourdough and something about a crisp salad… so there is definitely a disparity between what was described and what was delivered. That said, service is friendly, fast and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed, no loud music at least in the afternoon.

I waited my whole life to have a Guiness and was told by our cabbie this was the perfect place to have my first and it totally was! L. Mulligan Grocer, located in the evocatively named village of Stoneybatter on the Northside of Dublin, is a gastropub and world-beer emporium that has retained its authentic Dublin feel despite its transformation from an old local grocer. The spot offers a wide selection of small-label ales, lagers, and stouts, making it a destination for beer enthusiasts.
We did not have a reservation, we messed that up. But the host was able to get us seated in under an hour. Honestly, best food drinks and service we have had in our 2 week tour of the UK, British Isles, and Ireland. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. The chefs outdid themselves. Had the fish and chips and the fish was so fresh and clean tasting, the chips were cooked perfectly, and the tartar sauce was outstanding. The duck wings had the best flavor, juicy and tender. The Bleu cheese dip was so unique and tasty. Our cocktails were amazing. Strong, but amazing! Overall an exceptional experience.

Very good food - special shout out to the modern take on a black pudding! We would 100% go back to eat there again, but the service unfortunately felt quite rushed and disorganized. Other than that the staff was friendly and helpful in picking out whiskey and wine, and all in all we enjoyed our dinner there.

Swan Bar is a classic Victorian pub located in Dublin's city center. It features a marble bar counter, carved wooden back bar, and a cozy fireplace at the back. The ambiance is similar to other popular pubs like The Stags Head and The Long Hall. On quiet weekday nights, visitors can enjoy sitting by the fire with a pint or take advantage of the outdoor tables on sunny days. Additionally, there's an ultra-romantic cocktail bar upstairs for those seeking a chic atmosphere.
The Swan Bar is by far one of the nicest bars in Dublin - not just because of the great pints, delicious food, fantastic atmosphere and authentic decor but because the staff are amazing and some of the nicest people you will meet. We had a portion of our wedding day at the Swan Bar and Darren and the staff were so lovely and accommodating to us and our family for what we wanted. The bar has an authentic charm and is dog friendly which was key for our wedding day. Also beautiful pints of Guinness which Darren showed us how to pour so we could capture some fun photos in our wedding clothes! Darren and team reserved the snug for us so our parents and our dog could be comfortable in a private space, they brought over water for our dog and were genuinely so invested and caring towards us on our special day. The Swan Bar is somewhere you must visit, it is definitely one of our favourite places in Dublin. It's a place you feel welcome and not just a customer. Thank you so much to everyone for being part of making our day perfect and magical, we are so full of gratitude.

Needed to buy a pair of running shorts…mission accomplished. Saw the Swan bar across the street. Perfect Ireland corner bar. Met every expectation. I first ordered a pint of Guinness the a Jamison Ginger. I thought I needed to make it a double. So I ordered double the Jamison. My bartender brought me a single Jamison Ginger. Then a double Jamison too. First I laughed then thinking about it…it was what I ordered. I drank it all 😊😉

Great bartender (Tom), Great Irish Pub. If you’re looking for the local flavor this is one of those spots. Brenda (very nice with a great smile) was very quick in taking care of us when away from the bar.
David W — Google review
I entered the bar and approached the counter, the man behind the bar walked to the opposite end away from me so I approached another server who took my order, then the man returned to say to me that the owner doesn't allow tracksuit bottoms but that he would allow me one drink (im 38 and was wear stylish bottoms, not dirty bottoms after a football match), I looked around the bar and one man was wearing shorts and another old man entering was wearing grey cotton tracksuit pants so I asked the man was the boy in shorts given the same speech as me about casual wear and he said no because it's a sunny day out and they expect people to dress more casually on a sunny day, the server behind the bar had his shirt hanging out of his trousers and no sign to be found in the bar regarding essential neat dress so I mentioned this and he wasn't happy. I naturally decided not to stay in a place i felt unwelcome. A private word or taken to one side would have been a better approach than schooling someone in middle of the pub floor in front of other patrons. Very unpleasant experience. Can't comment on food as didn't eat or drink and wasn't offered a menu.

It is my favorite pub in Dublin. Let’s be honest maybe my favorite Irish pub in the world. It is a beautiful Victorian pub that has been owned by the same family for years. 87 years. A definite rugby bar too. They pour a perfect Guinness and you can learn a lot about Irish whiskey here. I have been here several times including at the end of the pandemic and I have always received top notch service. I feel very comfortable coming in for a pint as a solo female traveler. There is a covered outdoor area if the weather is nice. If you don’t want to drink, they make a great flat white. My kids in their 20s love it too.

It’s been 6 days and my friends and I cannot stop thinking about the meal we had here. We got the lamb shank, the salmon, and the beef stew and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. To speak on the beef stew - incredible. The beef was so beautiful tender and cooked, sitting on a gracious amount of mashed potatoes that melted in your mouth like butter, all surrounded by a very delicate sauce. I tried a few bites of the salmon and lamb and can safely say all three were incredible. The ambiance and environment was also perfect. It’s away from the busy street just enough but also full enough to be very lively. The band was AWESOME, a few people were dancing (including me) and it was awesome. I would come back here again in a heart beat. The staff was also so sweet and friendly, even though they were all running around. Awesome place - go now!!

Food was excellent. We had the lamb shank plate and the salmon plate. Both were phenomenal the lamb shank comes with a great dark gravy. The salmon was light flavorful and good. Both came with mashed potatoes and some veggies. The atmosphere of the bar is awesome with music starting in the evening would highly recommend. Only drawback it fills up quickly and people do not tend to leave once the band is getting ready to begin. We did notice, however towards mid evening people started to filter out again, and some spots opened up but were quickly filled!

Great pub, but I'm starting to believe pubs in Dublin are all good, this one did not disappoint. Lamb shanks are all similar but I especially liked the reduction here, paired with a red ale on nitrous, yum. Order half pints and enjoy. Sit on your own, by the bar was fantastic, bartender was hilarious.

Honestly just the best Irish stew I had in my life. Honestly maybe the best food I had in at least 10 years. I've had that dish, several times over several years all over island but this one takes the crown easily. Also the staff is nice. The music beautiful and the ambience is also cool. I will definitely write an email to ask the Chef for the recipe (or at least a hint) for my own pub back in Germany. Thank you so much for this joy in my mouth. Ah almost forgot, my wife is vegan and it's so cool that you can get all the people satisfied, since she had the vegan burger, which seemed to be also a blast.

We spent a Saturday night here for a dose of Irish nightlife. While we didn't have any food, we did have several pints and a fair amount of whiskey from their reasonably-priced (for this part of Dublin), extensive selection. The music was good and they played all the classic songs including Molly Malone twice because some poor Italian tourist wasn't there the when it was first played. Those who ate, got their food quickly and I must say, it did look tasty!!

Stopped here for a drink. The bartender (from Brazil) was so friendly, kind, and welcoming. We had a great time here. Great atmosphere, clean bathrooms. We didn't eat here, but the food the people next to us ordered looked delicious. A must visit for James Joyce lovers.

Really delicious food, beautiful and inviting atmosphere, and excellent service!! Thank you for a wonderful dinner! We loved the seafood chowder with Guinness bread, flavorful and not too heavy! We loved the roasted chicken with root vegetables and mashed potatoes just excellent! Our server and bartender were delightful and great!

Had such a lovely lunch here. Found it passing by, saw a good crowd and it had a fabulous vibe, didn’t think I was going to get a table, but the restaurant was deceptively big. Had some Prosecco and a lovely lunch, the Guinness and steak pie was awesome! There were so much steak in it! Happily go again when I next visit Dublin

Great small pub in Dublin. It was so Inviting walking past, that we had to dine here. Nice service, cozy atmosphere, and good food. Friends had the chicken dish, which they said was delicious. I had Fish & Chips. It was good, but I've had better. They use Hake fish...I think I prefer Cod..but overall just a great place to dine.

Popped in here for dinner with my wife and 2 daughters. We only had mains which were fish and chips, chicken, steak and I had the burger. Food was very nice and was served fairly promptly. It was early evening so not full but busy, atmosphere was pleasant enough and we didn't feel rushed.
Lee M — Google review
Very good value for money (for Dublin City centre) and great service. We had a couple of glasses of wine each and the charcuterie & cheese sharing board as a late lunch. There was more than enough on that board for the 2 of us, very generous portion. The wine was also very nice, not the usual cheap acidic overpriced stuff many pubs dish out. It’s not really a pub anymore, more of a restaurant/Gastropub but that doesn’t mean you can’t go in there just for a drink, we did, but the food looked good, we were hungry, so we ordered and weren’t disappointed, in fact we were pleasantly surprised.

Located on Baggot Street in Dublin's bustling business district, Doheny & Nesbitt is a renowned traditional pub with a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. This classic establishment is popular among political and journalistic circles, often hosting lively debates and discussions. The pub features Victorian architecture, original snugs, wooden floors, carved woodwork, and whiskey branded mirrors in the front bar. Additionally, it offers an Irish menu and a vibrant atmosphere during rugby days.
Our favourite pub in all of Dublin! We’re from Australia and loved everything about this place. It was lively with a brilliant two-man Irish band, great food, and warm service. My husband couldn’t stop ordering the Irish stew, while I loved the fish and chips - but the stout bread stole the show! The pub itself is stunning - spacious, vibrant, and full of energy. With live music, a buzzing crowd, and excellent service, it’s the perfect spot for an authentic Irish pub experience. Highly recommend!

Our first stop while arriving in Dublin. Great service upon entering the pub and the bartender gave us some good insights on what to do while being in Dublin. Ultimately it was a lovely chat and made it a good start of our trip. I had my first pint of Guinness I absolutely loved it and became my favorite beer. To go along with the pint, we had cottage pie (gluten free) and a classic toastie. They were both quite excellent and blew our expectations out of the water. I recommended going here to hangout, eat and enjoy the vibes.

A recommendation from a long time friend and Irishman, this bar exudes old Dublin charm and grace. The best Guinness in all of Dublin and, honestly, the best locally brewed IPA here too. The food was spectacular and if you leave any gravy, it should rate as a crime against the culinary arts. On top of all that, nightly live music is devine. A true Dublin institution, well worth your visit.

One of my favourite pubs in Dublin. Timeless charm, authentic atmosphere, traditional Irish music and one of the best pints of Guinness in town. Over 130 years old, it still maintains its original character. You can see old whiskey casks, pumps and tankards in the bar and the wood partitions together with the antique mirrors give a genuine and pleasant atmosphere in which to drink. Slaínte!

I absolutely recommend this pub. Typical irish pub, delicious food and a variety of beverages especially whisky. And a stunning cosy interior. For sure next visit when I will be in Dublin again.

Devitts Pub, located on the vibrant Camden Street in Dublin, is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic Irish pub experience. The venue offers live traditional music every night, creating a lively atmosphere that's perfect for tapping your toes along to the tunes. The walls are adorned with charming trinkets and patrons can even purchase branded Devitts flat caps as souvenirs.
Food and service were exceptional. We had two waitresses who were so attentive and warm towards my children. All the staff were so lovely, and the manager was very helpful, as my daughter lost her phone at their restaurant. When we came back to try to find it, they even took apart one of the booths where we were sitting to try to help us. I cannot say enough nice things about this establishment. I hope they all find great fortune and luck in their near futures.

The bar has a great atmosphere with a nice mix of lively energy and coziness. Drinks were excellent — from creative cocktails to a solid beer selection. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the music gave the place a fun vibe without being too loud. Definitely a spot I’d come back to.

Possibly the best pub in Dublin. The staff is extremely nice, great service, and amazing food. Spent a night watching the match with some locals, drinking a few pints and exchanging stories with all the bartenders. Came back the next night, as a result. Wings are some of the best I've had in Ireland. Additionally, my first time eating Dublin Coddle was totally worth it. Delicious, warming meal to have a crisp Irish night. *Pictured, are salmon croquettes, spicy chicken wings, coddle (soup), and a cheeseburger with side salad. This really is the kind of pub come to Ireland to find! Dublin rocks!

Had lunch here and really enjoyed the experience. Service was quick — our food arrived in just about 9 minutes, which is impressive for a busy pub. The portions were generous: crispy fish, a big side of chips, fresh salad, and the pint of Guinness was perfect. The fish was a little on the oily side, but honestly that seems to be the style everywhere I’ve had fish and chips in Ireland, so nothing unusual. Overall, the atmosphere was welcoming, the food was satisfying, and it’s a solid spot if you want a proper pub meal without waiting ages.

I have to say we came in last minute hoping to get a couple pics last week for my wedding and these guys were so great. They opened the upstairs and gave us the whole space to do a photoshoot. The atmosphere of a classic Irish pub was fantastic for photos/vibes and the bartender, Adam, was the nicest guy. They took such great care of us and really made the day perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you! PS - Prices were great and my parents had eaten there the day before the shoot and they said the food was fantastic!

The Foggy Dew is a classic Dublin pub with great atmosphere, great music, and great pints! It’s got that perfect mix of old-school charm and lively energy. The staff are always friendly and quick with service, and the Guinness is poured to perfection. There’s often live music or a great playlist in the background, giving it that authentic Irish pub feel. It’s also ideally located near Temple Bar, but with a more local and laid-back vibe. Whelan's is a renowned venue in Dublin that offers live music and clubs, as well as a relaxing space called The Parlour, which is decorated in a 1950s sitting room-style. Unlike the high cathedral of punk, it's more of a temple to singer-songwriters and earnest artists. With a capacity for only 450 people, the intimate setting adds to its mystique, allowing for a special connection between artists and the audience.
During the Jungle Giants concert at this venue, I had an issue with a person who tried to move me from my spot just because I accidentally broke a glass while dancing. The security team’s conduct was impeccable — they stepped in quickly and professionally, provided full assistance, and even relocated me to an even better spot than my original one. My thanks to the staff and the venue for their efficient and effective response. Highly recommended for anyone who values a place where you can count on security to handle situations with care and professionalism.

Didn't try the food, but had my first pint of Guinness in Ireland here. While they were busy I never felt ignored and had great service the whole time. Stephen was the bartender, he pulls a mean pint and set the standard for pubs. He even invited me to take a photo behind the bar and made my day! Thanks again!

Nancy Hands is an excellent, fun filled authentic Pub. Stephen looked after us all evening with a smile and a laugh.. whether we were at the Snug or the Restaurant. Their only desire is for all who come to have a grand time and enjoy themselves. The bar service was quick, and the food service was excellent. We had a variety of food and desserts.. all were fantastic. And do yourself a favour.. skip the “Pour a Pint” and “Drink your face off” add-ons at the Guinness Storehouse.. do it here.. at a real bar.. with a real barman! What a fun experience!

As a Dutch tourist I find this as an excellent first meal in a sportsbar upon my arrival in Dublin. The Shepherd's pie was tastfull, hot served and delicious. The Toffee Sticky pudding was yum, I was hmm hmm hmm the whole time, next table was jealous at my dessert. I would recommend both dishes.

Loved this pub! Great atmosphere and not as crowded as many other places in Dublin. I was there on Friday, October 3rd, and there was live music — the singer was really good and super friendly. Perfect spot for a pint, good tunes, and a relaxed local vibe. Definitely recommend!
Diana E — Google review
I wouldn’t recommend it. From the outside, Nancy Hands looks nice, but inside the service is plain and the food doesn’t justify the price. There’s not much variety, the staff doesn’t have much patience to explain things, and the presentation is very basic — just a plain white plate and a pretty average burger for €20. It also feels more like a place made for tourists than for locals, which explains the prices and lack of attention to detail. My advice would be to train the staff better and improve the presentation. Personally, I wouldn’t go back anytime soon.

Walked into the pub on a quiet weekday afternoon to order a sandwich to bring back to my office. Stood at the end of the bar listening to the barman complaining to a customer about how stupid it was to expect him to make sandwiches and serve customers whilst he made a sandwich, I was prepared to wait if he was busy but apart from ignoring me and serving 2 customers that came in after me he then told me that he wasn’t doing take away sandwiches that day. I tried to tell him that if was just unfortunate and we didn't have any bad intentions but he threw us out acting in bad faith. Well, sorry buddy, I'd have loved to visit this establishment but you were rude and frankly ridiculous.

Really lovely pub with traditional Irish live music in the evenings. Was a bit confused on arriving as the bar in the middle and didn’t realise the musicians were the other side of the bar, as someone de you enter has seats labelled “musicians only” and there were customers sat in them. We heard music but assumed it was being played through speakers until we heard clapping. Went around the other side of the bar, and there were the musicians. The musicians were great though and it was a more relaxed set than other bars we had been to, but it was a much quieter pub, away from Temple bar area. If I was staying in the area. I would go again.

Nestled on Capel Street, McNeill's Pub is a beloved traditional Irish pub in Dublin. Once a music shop, it now hosts lively Irish music sessions six nights a week, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and tourists alike. The cozy interior features fireplaces and intimate nooks, making it an ideal spot to escape on a rainy day. Live music is offered from Thursday to Saturday, adding to the authentic Dublin nightlife experience.
Such a good scene! There were still tourists around here but the vibes were fantastic. The duo we saw performed some of their own songs and also some trad music, with no mic or electronics. The section they were sitting in they called the "listening zone" and anyone who was talking was told to go sit at the bar or back room, in a joking but serious way. They were amazing performers! They knew how to work the crowd in a very tiny space! Get there between 8-830 to get a seat, there are some pub tours that end the night there so they fill the space. It was a grand time! Bring cash for tips! It's worth it.

Great little pub, with the kind of Irish pub atmosphere you're likely looking for. Staff is friendly and serves a great pint. Order at the bar then take it back to your seat, or stand. Went on a random Saturday night, listened in on the locals talking with the bartender. Playful banter seemed to be the theme of conversation, something about local 'greasy spoons' restaurants and the few remaining in the city. Picked up some good tips on local eateries, just by eavesdropping! ;) At one point, the bartender brought out a 200 year old fiddle to show one of the patrons, didn't get the story behind it though. All in all, a great few hours spent here with my wife. Goes to show, listening while travels takes your further than always trying to be heard! ;) Dublin rocks!

Glorious! The bar does not serve food, but they serve Guinness up cold and poured right. Their is music every night and most nights it squeezing room only as the musicians are incredible and local. The music played here is called "sessions". If you want a true Irish Pub, live music experience and can even make you cry with the feeling behind it; this is the place. The local musicians are real and you can feel their love of the music.

I was drawn in by the ROCK sign, curiously hanging above the sex shop next door. Inside, I discovered two musicians belting out Irish folk songs - a welcome change from every other pub where some-guy-and-a-guitar is doing barely passable covers of pop songs of various vintages. McNeill's easily had the best music I've seen in Dublin. I didn't want to leave. Pro-tip: try the Baby Guinness. It's Kahlua topped with Baileys. It really is baby - I had 3 of them and felt fine the next day - but it's delicious. As an ode to my time in San Francisco, I got mine with a side of sparkling water. The bubbles complement the cream nicely!

Old Royal Oak is a charming and traditional "country-pub" located near Kilmainham Gaol and the Irish Museum of Modern Art. It's a hidden gem down a country-style lane, fiercely protected by locals. Dublin, a city cleft in twain by jabberjaw and the endless scroll of pixelated screeds. A place of dichotomous repute, where the very air, thick with the ghosts of poets and patriots, is breathed in and spat out with equal venom and veneration. For every ten a penny balladeer, their throat slick with the romance of the gargle, there lurks a shadowy legion, a heft of souls who’ve supped only on the city’s drearier dregs and found the taste to their bitter liking. We, of course, align ourselves with the former, our tongues ever ready to attest to the plenitude of the craic, the untrammeled beauty that winks from behind a veil of grey stone and ceaseless rain. Yet, we are not so blind in our affections as to mistake this sprawling, begrudging metropolis for some gilded utopia. There are days, oh yes, when the heart yearns for an egress, a flight from the relentless urbanity, a pilgrimage to where the green reigns and the clamour of the city is but a distant, forgotten hum. And when such longings strike, and the coffers are bare and the clock a cruel master, a semblance of the pastoral can be unearthed, a bucolic whisper not a stone's throw from the city's very core. We speak, of course, of that venerable institution, that authentic country redoubt nestled in the heart of Kilmainham – The Old Royal Oak. The provenance of its name, a matter of some scholarly chin-stroking on our part. Does the ‘Royal’ nod to the nearby Hospital, a loyal subject in nomenclature? Perhaps. But our own delvings have led us down a more winding, Anglo-influenced path, back to the sceptred isle, our erstwhile colonial master. For across the water, the pubs are littered with Royal Oaks, a veritable forest of them. The tale, as we’ve pieced it together, harks back to the tumultuous 1600s, a time of schism and strife, of Roundhead and Cavalier. In the fields of Worcester, a battle raged, a fierce dispute over governance or perhaps the proper seasoning of a sauce, the annals are unclear. There, the soon-to-be King Charles, a man of questionable mettle and decidedly un-canine lineage, found himself pitted against that Cromwellian scourge, that black-hearted bane of a millennium. Seeing the tide of battle turn against him, our Charlie, in a moment of prudent cowardice, sought refuge in the embracing boughs of a mighty oak. A decade hence, with the unpleasantness concluded and his royal posterior once more warming the throne, Charles, ever the raconteur, would spin the yarn of his arboreal salvation. And the English, in their peculiar fashion, immortalised the tale in song and, more importantly, in the naming of their public houses. Thus, the Royal Oak became a symbol, a toast to survival and the enduring strength of the monarchy. The Oaker, as it is affectionately known, is a study in an almost monastic simplicity. A single, undivided chamber, a testament to the less-is-more philosophy. To the left, low-slung seating invites a comfortable subsidence; to the right, a bar of modest proportions dispenses its liquid sacraments. When the faithful convene, the space constricts, a sudden, convivial intimacy. We, on our last visit, secured our perch at the bar by a whisker. The walls, a gallery of local ephemera: landscapes of a softer, greener Dublin, faded advertisements for long-vanished elixirs, framed jerseys of sporting heroes, and a canopy of flags, a silent, colourful chorus. A call of nature prompted a journey towards the jaxx, but not before a detour, at my friend’s insistence, to inspect the snug. And what a revelation it was. Peering through an unassuming doorway, I found not a pub snug, but a family sitting room, a haven of domesticity. Its occupants, their eyes glued to the flickering drama of a televised match, regarded my intrusion with the mild bewilderment one might reserve for a stranger who has wandered, unbidden, into their home. Returning to the bar, I sang the praises of this sanctum of cosiness, demanding of my companions that our next sojourn be within its hallowed walls. And so it shall be.

Lovely pub in quiet street. Quite small inside and small outdoor area. Great trad in the corner of the pub.

A fantastic, tiny spot, if you can get in. Fair play to the bar staff trying to do their best on any sunny day/ gig day / random event day.
John K — Google review
The Old Royal Oak's dripping in character, with a good range of beer fare on offer, and an atmosphere to be beheld. Service was under a little bit of pressure, with just the sole bar person on duty on this particular Saturday afternoon, however, where an extra set of hands would definitely have helped. All in all, well worth a visit.

Irish pub
The Lord Edward is a classic Irish pub located near Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. Spread over three storeys, it offers a serene lounge bar and the city's oldest fish restaurant. The upstairs lounge features plush red chairs and memorabilia celebrating Irish patriots like Robert Emmet, providing a cozy enclave away from the bustling city. With its faded charms, corners, and quirks, this pub attracts both locals and visitors seeking an authentic Irish experience.
The best bar we found in Dublin. Great mix of locals. Made real friends here and felt like regulars after the week we spent on Dublin. Just outside the hectic temple bar district, this was a great place to start and end our days.

The bar upstairs is an underrated spot. Great Guinness and a good place to get out of the madness. Nice idea if you’re heading to Vicar Street for a gig.

It’s an old pub. I’ve been going here for 30 years, every time I’m in town. I go for one reason and one reason only; they serve Beamish not far from the Guinness Brewery. I respect that.

I have being drinking in this Pub from 1967-1988 and when on holidays in Dublin its my No1 Stop. Many happy memories of the evenings there for a few Guinness after work, just to let the traffic ease before headinh home. Cheers to all. Had an Old Comrades meeting there 2 years ago.

The best bar in Dublin. Upstairs is a cosy snug for any time of the year. A place to hatch plans, catch up, and have some of the best Guinness in the city. Enjoy a haven in the hustle of the city.

Brilliant little pub. Really Irish Bar feel. Excellent Guinness at an alright price. Even had the live sports on. I was recommended this bar by a local chap who said you'll get a proper traditional Irish bar feeling and a great pint in here, and he did not fail. Not the most beautiful pub in world but quality!
Daniel M — Google review
Good location and nice staff but very old and dated. A lot of strong bad smells on the way to the private room upstairs that we had booked for an hour or so between a wedding ceremony and dinner so did the job. When we walked in at first the atmosphere was a bit tense. The barman recognised that we were there for the wedding party and quickly gave us directions upstairs where it was more private. Wouldn't be my first.choice in Temple Bar but be an ok stop for one drink.on a pub crawl maybe.

Avoid: walked in here for a round with three mates. I ordered while the girls went to the loo. A patron or employee (not sure which) told my friends "the bathroom is for customers only so slag off". No one from the staff interjected so if the man was a patron they are just as culpable in my opinion. Avoid this overpriced establishment.

Located on the west edge of Temple Bar, Porterhouse Temple Bar is a popular spot offering a constantly changing menu of their own ales, lagers, and stouts. The pub started as a microbrewery over a decade ago and has become one of the best places in town to sample unique Irish brews.
What a cool spot, dog friendly and 3 floors and an outdoor terrace area too so lots of space to eat or have a drink. The staff are super friendly and the menu is massive. Definitely a must in Dublin!
Chris H — Google review
Location & Access: Located in the heart of Dublin city centre, this multi-level pub is easily accessible from all parts of the city via public transport. Its central location makes it a convenient and popular choice for both locals and visitors. Ambience & Space: The pub delivers a classic Irish pub atmosphere. The second and third floors offer great views of the bustling street below, and on the third floor, you can even catch a glimpse of the beer brewing setup, which adds a cool, behind-the-scenes vibe. There’s also a coin-operated phone charging station on the ground floor—handy for longer visits. Menu & Drinks: The pub serves a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, alongside a food menu that includes chicken wings, soups, fries, and more. What truly sets this place apart is its unique selection of craft beers. Their fruity and sour varieties are particularly noteworthy—the “salad beer” and passion fruit beer are personal favorites, offering rare flavors you don’t often find in other Dublin pubs. They also stock a wide variety of bottled beers, spirits, and house specials, catering to many tastes. Cleanliness & Facilities: The venue is well-maintained and clean across all floors, contributing to a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Staff & Service: While staff are generally competent, there's room for improvement in terms of professionalism and attentiveness. At times, clients may be left waiting. The customer service approach could be warmer and more engaging. Pricing: Prices are fair and reasonable, especially considering the variety of craft options and the central location. Final Thoughts: I’ve visited this pub several times and plan to return—mainly for their unique beer offerings. It's a great spot if you're exploring Dublin city centre and want to try something new in a relaxed, multi-floor setting.

It's a great pub with a great atmosphere, a variety of craft beers that flow against the flow of Guinness, not the other way around, a great music selection, and great Irish bands. This pub, which has won numerous awards and medals, is, in my opinion, the best in Dublin.
Serdar B — Google review
The Porterhouse Pub in Dublin is an absolute gem for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic, vibrant Irish pub experience with a modern twist. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm, open, and inviting atmosphere. It manages to strike the perfect balance between being lively and relaxed — ideal whether you’re catching up with friends, meeting new people, or just looking for a comfortable place to unwind after a long day. One of the standout aspects is the incredible variety of drinks. The Porterhouse is well-known for its strong offering of craft beers, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Whether you’re a seasoned beer lover or just dipping your toes into the world of hops and malts, there’s something here for everyone. They also serve an impressive array of cocktails and other spirits, making it a solid spot for mixed-drink fans too. Of course, a pint of Guinness is a must in any Irish pub, and The Porterhouse serves it excellently — smooth, creamy, and at €7.20, it’s competitively priced for the area. It’s poured with care and pride, just as it should be. Overall, The Porterhouse is more than just a place to grab a drink. It’s a welcoming space that combines great beverages, good conversation, and a rich atmosphere. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.

Sheehans Pub is a cherished family-owned establishment in Dublin, known for its traditional Irish ambiance and cuisine. Located just off Grafton Street, it offers a cozy setting to enjoy classic Irish dishes such as braised lamb shanks, beef and Guinness pie, and traditional fish and chips. Visitors praise the pub for serving the best fish and chips in Dublin with crispy, well-cooked fish.
Fun traditional Irish pub. We ordered the bangers and mash and seafood chowder. The bangers were tender, juicy and had a great flavor. The seafood chowder was creamy, seasoned perfectly and had just the right amount of fish, carrots and celery. A great option if you want great Irish brews and grub.

First time in this pub in Dublin and the mas was okay. The dish are presented well but I don't know it's missing something to make it really good. It was still good but nothing wow. Sadly the Baileys cheesecake is a mousse not a real chessecake.

We came here twice during our stay in Dublin, the Seafood Chowder is hands down the best we’ve had! The chicken pie was also delicious. Classic Dublin pub atmosphere, great Guinness, and a friendly mix of locals and visitors.

I first visited Sheehans Pub in 2024 and remembered that their potato soup was one of the best soups I’ve ever tasted. So when I visited again recently with my mum, I decided to treat her again. Slightly apprehensive that it might have been a one off and the quality might not match the first time, but I’m glad to say, it did. Honestly go there for lunch and have the soup. My mum didn’t want a sandwich and I asked the server, and she said that’s not a problem and they gave my mum some delicious soda bread with the soup. The female server (forgive me I didn’t get her name) was one of the nicest servers I’ve ever had, couldn’t do enough for us and super friendly - not surprising the Irish are super friendly. She, along with the food, will be the reason I will come back again when I visit again. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for a Dublin steakhouse with quality meat and attentive service, look no further than F.X. Buckley @ Ryan's of Parkgate Street. The pub has been around since the 1800s and still manages to maintain its original Victorian interior - making it a perfect spot for a relaxing evening out with friends. We called into the restaurant yesterday and had a genuinely lovely experience. The service stood out straight away — prompt, efficient, and personable. We opted for the special, the Chateaubriand (€70 for two to share), which came with two sides and four sauces. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a Baked Alaska, which was just excellent. The food was great, but what truly made the evening was the service. The two young ladies looking after us were an absolute credit to the place — so friendly and welcoming. That warm Irish hospitality in Ireland is something we’re known for, and sadly, it’s becoming harder to find in the industry. It was so refreshing to see it alive and well here. We'll be back.

I know this pub from many years ago. And it's still GREAT!!! I first ate here about 8-9 years ago. When someone visited us, this place was on the list of places to eat if we were talking about a gastropub. And it was always great. After many years, we returned to Dublin and took our first steps here. 100 percent success! Since we had dinner with friends, we only took a little something this time. But since I always want to try a lot, I ordered three small dishes. Small, but huge in taste! Wonderful, wonderful, no comment… I enjoyed every bite.

This popular boozer offers a fine selection of food including burgers, nachos, chicken tenders, and desserts.
Cannot fault this place. Went in on our first night in Dublin and enjoyed it that much we kept going back for the next 2 nights. Food absolutely amazing, staff so friendly and welcoming. Full table service and nothing was too much trouble. Great selection of drinks.

We were staying at at the Camden Court hotel around the corner and The Bleeding Horse was recommended to us. We ordered the fish & chips with a few draft beers. It was enough for us to split (with the beers) and it was delish. The fish was a tad greasy but hey…..fish n chips, right? The fries were great and it was served with puréed peas which was cool!

Food was okay, chips slightly cold that came with the burgers. Seemed a little expensive for the quality. However spice bag and the Guinness stew tasted great. Service was adequate. I think they are better pubs to go for a meal in Dublin, but I can imagine it is a good spot for a drink.

Been here a few times already but always forgot to take pictures of the food. I always recommend The Bleeding Horse to people and friends visiting town because I really like it for both food and drinks. My girlfriend got the veggie burger which she said it was very tasty and I went for a nice caesar salad.

This was our first pub stop in Dublin. It's apparently one of the oldest pubs in the city, so we thought it was a good place to start. It was a Thursday evening and the place was pretty packed. We managed to find a small table though and each ordered a local pint. We enjoyed the atmosphere for a bit and decided to get the next pint elsewhere since the live music was about to start right next to us. But a solid pub for a local pint!

This unique venue is owned and operated by a group of traditional musicians who take to the stage every night, ensuring that guests enjoy live music and dancing in an inviting atmosphere. Known for its classic Irish cuisine, The Merry Ploughboy offers a cozy setting with lovely corners perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.
The authentic Irish pub experience - loud, crowded, lots of cheerful patrons, friendly service, plenty choices for drinks and large portions of delicious food. This was my first meal in Ireland, and my first experience of Guinness 0.0. We were lucky to be given the last table, as it was Friday night, and there were bus-loads of tourists (for upstairs space). Guinness 0.0 turned out to be too bitter for me, but my husband happily finished my pint, after finishing his own. I was then recommended to try their alcohol-free Chardonnay, which was very nice and more suited my palate. One usually goes to a pub to drink with friends, and wouldn't expect much from the food offerings, but this place obviously puts a lot of thought and effort into their cooking, both in taste and in presentation. Good drinks, good food, and good company, in a loud and happy space - a perfect Irish experience!

What a great place to have a party. So I’m guessing we had close to 200 people in that room, to say that the staff was highly trained as an understatement. They had that whole room served in 10 minutes. Now you wouldn’t think a place like that, that could serve that many people would have food that was any good. Well, their food was fantastic. And then these guys got up and played music for us, I think their name was also the Mary ploughboys. Not sure. They were fabulous. So the atmosphere was great, the food was great, the surface was great, they had good beer. And I would never drive by the place again, without stopping.

I really love this pub and I didn’t want to give a negative review. However, I would really like to alert management to an issue I had with the female bar staff that was on last night. I was trying to help a table of blind people order drinks as the bar was busy around last orders. I had been helped before by a lovely man working there who was very understanding of the situation. I had gone up to the bar to place that tables order and see if they could drop the card machine down to them. I explained the situation, very clearly and politely to the young woman. She looked at me strangely, so I repeated myself, thinking she hadn’t heard. She rolled her eyes and said “no you can’t”. The woman then pointed at the man who I had been served by through out the night and walked away. This is something that needs to be said to management not only in terms of customer service but in terms of humanity. This group would have really struggled ordering drinks at a busy bar, risking their canes being stepped on and they may have had difficulty going through the compact space. It was very sad to see. I hope this is not how she treats disabled groups and it was just an off day for her. Despite this the gentleman at the bar who was helping throughout to night was such a kind and understanding man so a big thank you to him!

Pub
Nestled just outside Dublin's bustling city center in the vibrant Stoneybatter neighborhood, Walsh's is a beloved pub that captures the essence of local charm. A mere five-minute stroll from the iconic Jameson Distillery, this spot has become a go-to for both locals and visitors alike. Renowned among staff at Lonely Planet Dublin, it’s praised by Amy Lynch, Ireland’s Destination Editor, who highlights its fantastic Guinness and lively atmosphere complemented by great tunes on select nights.
By far one of my favourite pubs that we visited in Dublin. Cracking pint of Guinness! Proper traditional pub with bar staff who added to the experience, they couldn't have been nicer! Definitely worth a pint or seven in here.

A nice pub to grab a drink and chat with a friend, Very relaxed cozy atmosphere. Had a misinformed Google post, that the place offered food and drinks , even showing a menu, just to clarify for you. It's only a bar . It was a good one we enjoyed our whiskey on the rocks .

By far the best pint of Guinness I have had in Dublin!! Cheap pint compared to most places and incredibly friendly staff! We will definitely be back!!!!

This was a nice pub but it was very very quiet. Would like to return when there is a bit of music / more people around.

A great local pub with a good atmosphere and a fine selection behind the bar, highly recommended. We were staying in a local student hostel when I popped over for the last drink and my companion when to bed. The access key card failed and I was stranded outside the room, I returned to the pub for assistance and the manager accompanied me back and used his mobile to alert security. He then returned with the security guard to ensure I was safe. He would take nothing for his trouble and I am eternally grateful for his assistance.

Pub
John Kavanagh The Gravediggers is a historic pub in Glasnevin, Dublin, dating back to 1833. It is known for serving home-cooked meals and traditional Irish stew called Coddle. Despite its unassuming appearance, the stew is considered comfort food by locals and is a must-try when visiting the pub. The establishment's name comes from its proximity to a cemetery and it has been visited by renowned personalities like Anthony Bourdain.
First off, the service is absolutely top class both in the bar and in the restaurant. The Guinness is outstanding. The ambience is that of a genuine old school Irish pub with no contrivances. The clientele seemed to be a mix of locals, tourists dropping in for one, and wayfarers like myself. Definitely looking forward to returning. The food wasn't bad. The coddle was very salty but that suited me perfectly. It had cocktail sausages and proper bacon ribs, and came with plenty of bread. The soup wasn't the worst I ever had. *** Returned with friends on a Friday lunch and stayed for dinner. Between us we had the coddle, meatballs, manchego and almonds, seafood chowder, and beef and Guinness stew. I reckon that the stew has to be the best thing on the menu - such tender, quality, tasty beef. The chowder is fantastic too, fresh! 😋 The place is full all day here on a Friday but with a great atmosphere and quality service all round

Visiting Dublin for a concert and recommended the Gravediggers by my Dad who visited years ago. Unbelievable, friendly service. Great Guinness and I think the dearest item on the menu was about €12. Irish Beef Guinness stew was amazing. Great atmosphere as a locals pub with a few tourists here and there. Way better than the places in the city centre.
Jamie R — Google review
We visited on a Friday and noticed the menu was tapas-style — something I’m usually not a huge fan of. But then I realised… it was Irish tapas! Small plates of Guinness stew, Ciarán’s Coddle, cabbage and ham, and more. My absolute favourite was the cabbage and ham, creatively served like a spring roll — a proper Irish spring roll! It was incredible. We brought a friend along, and this format was perfect for sampling a variety of traditional Irish dishes in one sitting. The pints were spot on too! We’ll definitely be back — what a gem. They accept card payments, and while they don’t take many reservations, just grab a pint at the bar next door while you wait. Totally worth it.
J P — Google review
I’ve been meaning to get here for years, the Guinness is legendary. So to say expectations were high, is an understatement. Vibe in the bar is really relaxed - mind you this was a Wednesday. Seats were hard to come by, it’s not a huge pub so be prepared to have your drinks outside. As for the Guinness.. it’s good, it’s very good. Best pint I’ve ever had? No… but it’s on my top list going forward - I’ll need to go back before it can claim the top spot for me. Will be back for sure to check out the graveyard and quench my never ending thirst for Guinness

Came here due to its reputation as having THE best pint of Guinness. It didn't disappoint. Great Guinness, great atmosphere, and the staff were brilliant. Welcoming, friendly, and full of banter. Customers were a mixture of staff, locals, and tourists. Made for an interesting dynamic, and it's what made the experience more worthwhile. I only popped in, thinking I'd have one or two pints and head out. Let's just say I had considerably more before heading out the door. And this was on a Monday morning! Love this place. Only sorry I went in on a day they don't serve food, so I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Dublin.

Quaint neighborhood pub to enjoy delicious food, cold beer, and various other indulgences. Friendly staff, and welcoming/warm feel. If you're like me and need a variety, you'll fancy the Tapas style menu. Give it a go, you'll be glad you did!

This bar is a must for Dublin. Very old school traditional Irish pub and you feel like you have gone back in time. The Guinness is the best I have ever had in Ireland and the food while different is very good. The service was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

Still the best pint of Guinness around. My only problem is it is so popular it is hard to get a spot to sit. So go early or during the week if you want a quiet pint.

Located in the lively Temple Bar area, The Auld Dubliner is a classic Irish pub offering a traditional atmosphere with live music performances. I had such a great time here tonight. An amazing time thanks to two bartenders!!! Tonight all of Ireland’s bartenders worked hard. But these two engaged with their customers and didn’t show that they were annoyed !!! The beer was delicious and the area was clean!

I loved this place. It has all your Irish go-to beers when you're visiting. It has usual tables of 4 etc but also has more communal long benches which encourages conversation. The atmosphere both in the day and at night are lively. Everyone joins in with the live bands and everyone was friendly and talkative. Never queued for a beer. A great night.

Great little pub. Much smaller than the Temple Bar which is better in many ways. Good musicians playing a good variety of Irish and more contemporary music. Even at busy times patron turnover resulted seats being available and most people offered to share tables. And of course the Guinness was superb.

The Auld Dubliner – classic Dublin vibes at their best! What an incredible spot in the heart of Temple Bar! The atmosphere was electric — great music, friendly staff, and that unmistakable Dublin charm. The pints were perfect, the crowd was full of good energy, and it felt like the true Irish pub experience you hope for when visiting Dublin. We had such a fun time we didn’t want to leave! A must-visit for anyone who wants to soak up the real spirit of Ireland. ☘️🍻

Walked in here at 23:50. Music was playing and it was busy. Ordered two pints that cost €26.40 (it was a cider) and they were served in plastic cups. The moment we sat down the music stopped and we were told to leave as they closed at midnight. Why on earth didn’t the server tell us they were closing? An absolute joke. The amount we paid for the pints was disgraceful and the fact we had to leave as soon as we bought them. Terrible terrible terrible service from the server. Clearly they have never worked in a bar before. You wouldn’t serve drinks knowing you are about to close, or if you did serve drinks you should at least tell the customer. Avoid this dump of a place at all costs. The pub across from them was unreal. Oliver St. John Gogartys is far superior.

Place was packed on a Friday night! Standing room only but we did snag some stools. Live band was full of energy and everyone sang along. Great vibe!

Omg this pub is bursting with atmosphere, bustle and chatter. There's live music, football on TV, and people mingling talking and meeting strangers. The Guinness is amazing, great service and friendly staff. A small amount of people saying 'oh it's loud ' it is but you can desiver what people are saying to ya, to be fair to ya. Have a top day.
Linsey W — Google review
Walked in and the bar tender decided he would not serve us (short man with a beard) Told other bar tenders not to help us and his reason was because “we had been served too much”. I would like to add that we had never stepped foot in the bar ever. As far as my first experience goes in temple bar.. this was appalling. No reason at all and denied service. Without any reason we were denied service and as a result of this I will not recommend this place to anyone. In front of other guests it was obvious that we were not allowed to have our drink and I think thats not ok. Not a good place to enjoy anything.

Pub
Hogans is a traditional old pub located in the midst of a trendy area filled with bars, clubs, and restaurants. Despite its surroundings, it remains true to its Victorian roots and offers a spacious bar with an upstairs room featuring a typical selection of beer. Situated on one of Dublin's coolest streets, it exudes an edgy vibe reminiscent of New York City but with an Irish twist.
Great till-late bar, with a good atmosphere. The terrace is an excellent spot for people -watching activities during the day, while at night the inside atmosphere goes party like.
Mircea-Bogdan T — Google review
Ever since this pub opened, it has always been one of my favourite places to visit and while away an afternoon in peace. I love the simplicity of the place, chilled atmosphere (daytime anyway) good music choice. I just adore the decor that has aged so well. The pint’s not half bad either. I’m quite proud of the photo I took! This pub, for some reason always gets me reminiscing of not only the times I’ve been here in the past, but life in Dublin when I lived here. I’m sure the youngsters socialising must look and wonder who the old fart is, much as I probably did when I were their age.
P D — Google review
I didn't find this place until a couple days before I left Dublin. They had my favorite Swedish Cider Kopparberg. It gets pretty busy at times but worth a visit.
Joanne M — Google review
Perched prominently on South Great George's Street, Hogan's Bar stands as a magnificent bridge between the traditional Dublin boozer and the city’s vibrant, modern social scene. It is a hub of activity, people-watching, and, crucially, a highly respected purveyor of what many locals argue is one of the best, most consistently satisfying pints of Guinness in the entire city. The moment your pint is settled and placed before you, the quality is undeniable. The stout at Hogan's is often praised for its perfect temperature, its rich, dark color, and a dome of creamy foam that holds its structure flawlessly. The "yummy" factor is high: it's incredibly smooth on the palate, with that perfect balance of coffee and malt notes that defines a masterfully poured pint. In a city full of great Guinness, Hogan's dedication to freshness and pour technique places it firmly among the elite. While the Guinness might be old-school perfect, the pub's atmosphere is pure contemporary Dublin. Hogan's is famous for its large, street-facing windows, turning the bar into a theatre for observing the eclectic hustle of George's Street. By day, it's a laid-back spot perfect for chilling, reading, and conversation. But as the week winds down, the energy explodes. Hogan's seamlessly transitions into a lively late bar, especially when the music kicks off in the downstairs "International Beat Basement." This dual identity—a solid traditional pub with a great pint on the main floor, and a trendy, high-energy spot below—is what makes Hogan's a landmark. If you’re seeking a vibrant spot where the atmosphere is as electric as the stout is velvety, Hogan's is an absolute must-visit. It’s a guaranteed great pint and a guaranteed good time.

I was told I could not enter the bar by the light skinned bouncer who grabbed me by my waste and pulled me back saying shorts are prohibited. That was inappropriate a simple excuse me would have sufficed. My group mentioned there being women inside with short shorts but it doesn’t count for females?? I decided to take a picture of the bar for a review when I was taking pictures of the street and bar outside from the street, when the second bouncer approached me and told me im not allowed to do that and that I was “ putting my camera right in his face” ? Very bizarre reaction from a bouncer in a big city on a public street? I was with a big group and we were all astonished by the attitude and hostility from this man, Me being with my pregnant wife and 52 year old mother diffused the situation by explaining why I was taking photos, he then proceeded to talk to another customer about the situation right in front of everyone saying we were trying to antagonize him? I figured I would crop the photos of the street and bars just of him so he gets what he asked for . Trashy bar, trash service, trashy cleanliness.
Rudy K — Google review
Bouncers at this pub on a major power trip particularly the bald one that manages the others. I used to go to all the pubs on Fade St quite regularly up until 3 months ago since I moved away. Came home for 2 weeks went to hogans for a night out. Was refused entry for no reason, just because they decided I was too drunk when I was stood there talking to them perfectly fine asking why I couldn’t get in. Then asked for the manager to which he then agreed with them and proceeded to follow me around the street like a child making sure I didn’t get into any of the other pubs. Really sad to see as I have had lots of good nights here in the past but also a testament to the way Dublins nightlife is headed right now. All of the pubs including hogans were saying they were full to us then blatantly letting other people in, at the command of the small bald bouncer. All in all a shame to see the way a favourite spot of mine has gone, aside from this it’s a grand pub.
James Q — Google review
Very friendly staff behind the bar. It was a quiet spot for a pint in the hustle and bustle of temple bar we found this gem. Lovely pint of Guinness. Proper Irish pub.
Aisling J — Google review
The bar staff and manager here are fantastic, but the security staff were shocking. I witnessed a man in serious medical distress and, as someone trained in pre-hospital emergency care, I begged security to call an ambulance. Instead, they dismissed me, dragged the man away, and then turned their aggression on me — grabbing me hard enough to leave bruises and trying to force me out for “causing trouble.” The manager handled the situation brilliantly and apologised, but the failure of security to protect customers or respond properly to an emergency was unacceptable. Until the security issues are addressed, this venue is not safe.

Cassidy’s Pub is an absolute gem in the heart of Dublin! The atmosphere is unbeatable — lively, welcoming, and full of character. The decor is quirky and fun, with great music and a crowd that always seems to be in good spirits. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Service is fast, even when the place is packed, and the pints are always poured to perfection (especially the Guinness!). It’s the perfect spot for a night out with friends or a casual drink after work. There’s a great mix of locals and visitors, which gives it that authentic Dublin vibe. It was incredible experience. Our tour guide was amazing. First you get free welcome drink - you have 3 options from Jameson (Jameson with lime and ginger is amazing). Then you go to first room, it’s about history of Jameson. Second room is about how to make Jameson and on third you learn about differences, how to smell and taste different Jamesons. With this guide, it was really amazing and I could stay longer than 45 minutes.

What an unforgettable experience at the Jameson Distillery! We opted for the Secret Whiskey Package and savored every moment. Learning the skills of whiskey tasting, followed by a truly delicious sampling experience. Despite the bustling crowd of fellow travelers, the staff made us feel so special and welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jamison Distillery. I went with my husband and my daughter. It was very informative and quite interesting. There were several experiences during the tour. We tasted whiskeys that we hadn't tried before. Our new favorite one is Black Barrel. We've bought a bottle now that we're back home and have shared it with a neighbor. He is now a fan! I recommend going on this tour. It's fun, educational, and it even has a cute little shop inside.

I just had the most incredible experience at the Jameson Distillery Bow St. Tour in Dublin! From the moment I stepped in, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance was top-notch, and the facilities were sleek and modern. But what really made the visit stand out was our amazing tour guide - he was super passionate about Jameson and its rich history. He took us on a journey through time, showing us how Jameson's iconic whisky is made and what sets it apart from the rest. The highlight of the tour was definitely the whisky tasting - we got to sample three different types of Jameson, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. The "Grain to Glass" process was fascinating, and our guide did an excellent job of explaining it in a way that was easy to understand. Plus, the comparative whisky tasting was a great way to learn about the different flavors and notes. One thing to keep in mind is that you won't actually get to see the whisky being made - it's more of a theatrical experience. But trust me, it's still totally worth it. The Jameson Distillery Bow St. Experience is a must-visit for anyone in Dublin, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves whisky, history, or just wants a unique and immersive experience. So go ahead, book your tour, and get ready to be blown away by the rich history and smooth flavours of Jameson!

Once the main banking hall, its interior boasts an ornate design featuring a breathtaking stained glass ceiling, intricate plasterwork, and beautiful mosaic tiled floors. This enchanting venue not only serves an impressive selection of drinks but also offers seasonal farm-to-table menus that highlight local flavors.
A lovely converted bank in the heart or Dublin. Walked in on a Sunday night after being turned away by some other local spots due to a lack of availability. Our party of seven was promptly sat, not just in the dining room but in a private room that used to be the managers office. The service was quick and efficient. Instead of having a dedicated server, everyone seemed to share the responsibility of checking up on us, taking order. Etc. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, eagerly ready to inform us of recommendations and answer any questions. The food was phenomenal. The bread tasted close to freshly baked, the soup was rich and creamy, the vegetables tasted like they had just been picked off of the vine. The entrees were all appropriate portions for the price, the accompaniments were all beyond complimentary to the entrees. The cocktail list was expansive and well rounded. The wine list wasn’t anything grandiose but meaningful and concise. The bank is beyond lovely, and look forward to returning.

Loved the burrata salad, weird individual ingredients that come together in an amazing combination. My seafood tagliatelle was chock full of mussels, clams, fish and prawns, pasta was a LA dante, and the cheese amazing, it was a pleasure to eat and serious value for the buck. The chicken supreme was a bit dry. We loved our mocktails. The place was insanely busy, we caught the last table before everyone had to sit st the bar. The atmosphere was historical, fun and cheerful, not too loud but certainly bustling, and the servers super busy but still very friendly and light hearted. The interior was a masterpiece to enjoy by itself. This place is super firm in the values that it stands for, both in Ireland and the world, and that was the prime thing that pulled us to try it, that and the fact that it was clearly fancy.

The Bank Bar and Restaurant opened in May 2003 and is located on College Green in the heart of Dublin. This site has been occupied since Viking times, as it is located in the oldest region of the city in close proximity to the viking parliament The exterior is Franco-Scottish in inspiration and is unique in that it is one of Dublin’s rare examples of Scottish sandstone. The interior, which was once the main banking hall, is a stunning example of merchant power and patronage displaying an extraordinary ornate setting, stained glass ceiling, mosaic tiled floors and spectacular hand carved plasterwork and cornicing. This old-school pub features an ornate Victorian decor with filigreed mirrors and carved-wood snugs (enclosed booths). In addition to perfectly poured Guinness, the pub is known for serving potent gin and tonics. we spent some nice time here and it was really beautiful.

Visited here on our first night in Dublin, absolutely blown away by the food, the service and the atmosphere. All the food was incredible, the sausage rolls for starters were *chefs kiss*, and the gourmet burger was phenomenal! Everything was presented beautifully, and the service was sensational. Would highly recommend visiting here!

Absolutely amazing experience! The ambience is beautiful and the food was delicious. And to make the entire evening extra special, the owner offers Palestine cola and chocolate to help raise money and awareness for Gaza. Just look for the huge Palestinian flag flying high and proud in the front of the building! Amazing amazing night, thank you for all you do and for the most delicious meals around.

We had a wonderful dining experience here! The food was truly delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is both elegant and charming, making it a perfect place for a relaxing evening in Dublin. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city and looking to enjoy great food in a refined and cozy setting!

We've been before for drinks and loved the surroundings, decor, history and atmosphere. We decided to return on another concert based citybreak. Both had the (huuge) pork chop with café du Paris butter. Lovely! The service was efficient and friendly, and the prices reasonable. We will return in the future. One clue, book ahead to avoid disappointment. It was busy, even on a Monday night.

Great food, I had the pork chop it was cooked perfectly and the demi glaze was full of flavor. The potato was the perfect amount of cheesy and salty. Drinks were great too the old fashioned was perfect.

The Grand Social is a vibrant music venue in Dublin 8, featuring a ballroom and a rooftop beer garden with a retractable roof and cocktail bar. The Circular, an exciting new addition to the venue, offers various spaces including a main bar with reservable areas and function rooms, a cozy pub focusing on craft beers, and Daddy's cafe at the front.
What can you say , just any amazing venue , they constantly banging out fantastic shows , all staff are amazing as always

Great Central Venue, in Dublin City for music gigs and a few pints! Recommended.
Brendan P — Google review
Deceptive from the outside, looks like a normal Irish pub, but inside also has a large open space, kinda ball room meets square dance area. Upstairs is a beer garden and the live music venue. Small, intimate, great for live bands, bit like the 100 Club in London.

Great gig with the Skallis, with Del Bionic, at the Grand Social. Lovely to come up with friends to enjoy Irish Ballads, Ska and Reggae. It’s amazing! From 6 pm to 8 pm each 15 days.

Nice pub, good music, the staff is amazing, very friendly crew. Nice cocktails and lovely creamy Guinness, nice spot for enjoy.
Victor C — Google review
The worst bar I have attended in Dublin. The manager, a rude men with not a good personal hygiene was pointing a lantern into people’s faces, every time he walked by the dance floor. There was enough light (if you knew the place you’ll understand), but he was aiming into people’s eyes and when we complain he said “I am the manager I can get you kicked out”, even though, nothing happened and we were at a private party in one of the big rooms, not the bar itself. Then, he said there were no more cocktails due to “too much order”, when actually 1 bartender was flirting with someone and not paying any attention and the other was just ignoring us. Finally,we order but guess what? After midnight prices rise. That is correct. For 2 gintonic we paid 27€, after the bartender said the bill would be 15€. Is not about the money it’s the scam. So, no. THE WORSE BAR IN THE ISLAND PROBABLY. He runs the places as he runs his personal hygiene and manners. Like he does not care.

First impressions were not great if im honest but it was perfect for the show we seen. Definitely would go again.

I went to the Cruchan gig here. A nice bar. They do a good pint of Guinness! There is smoking areas as well. Upstairs there is lots of space for a gig. It's good that you can move around. There is an outside area too. They also have a good range of drink at the bar!

Cocktail bar
Bar
BAR 1661 is a trendy spot located in Parnell Square, Dublin. It's at the forefront of reviving poitin, Ireland's traditional moonshine. The bar has a stylish interior with leather-top stools and dark green wall paneling, creating a cozy atmosphere. Named after the year poitin was banned, BAR 1661 offers an array of cocktails showcasing this once-lost spirit.
Bar 1661 is truly a gem! They offer a fantastic range of cocktails, and my top pick was the “Parts Unknown.” I really enjoyed the welcome cocktails too. The only downside was that the music felt a little too loud at times.
Amy A — Google review
Bar 1661 is IMHO the best cocktail bar in Dublin. It specializes in Irish Poitín, but has everything else you’re craving, too. Roberto and Brenden really did it up for us sitting at the bar, making us some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had, letting us try some special tastes, and giving us excellent recommendations for other bars in the area. We also got to meet Qhuy, who was awesome and funny as well. I literally can’t think of a better, more well-rounded crew to man a bar than these guys. I hope I get to come back someday, but if not, thanks Roberto for making it an incredible experience, and I’ll see you at your sisters wedding 💃🏻 (lol obvi)
Amanda R — Google review
One of the best bars for handcrafted poitin based amalgamations and drinks. Cocktails and classics were really superb and they have a very extensive curated list of drinks and a very beautiful looking cocktail menu book. Loved the place drinks and just the vibe. Highly recommend it. For cocktail aficionados this is a must visit place

The tasting experience is a must-do in Dublin. The coctails and garnishments were next level fantastic. The timing of the cocktails are perfect and the food is amazing. We had a fabulous time. You must book in advance because it is really popular.

Nice little cocktail bar with over 25 cocktail creations. We tried about half of them and they were all very tasty. Welcome cocktail on arrival. Very decently priced. Extremely friendly and attentive staff. Nice little heated outside seating area.

Really impressed with this bar. Staff were very polite and attentive. Every single member of staff knew the menu inside out, loved how they explained our cocktails to us when serving. Fantastic choice of cocktails and all came well presented. We came for my boyfriend’s 30th for a spontaneous pre drink before dinner and staff were great to fit us in despite the whole place almost full!
Erin L — Google review
An amazing cocktail bar. Absolutely brilliant unique cocktails which taste amazing. All staff are very knowledgeable and have lots of great information about the different cocktails. I would love to return here in the further to try some more!!
Laura M — Google review
Very good cocktails albeit being mostly on the mild side, all very balanced but nothing that would surprise you much. The oysters were super fresh and delicious as well.
