Bond Falls, located in the Ottawa National Forest, is a picturesque 50-foot waterfall that offers stunning views and a serene atmosphere. The site features hiking trails with river-crossing walkways and multiple viewing locations with platforms for capturing beautiful pictures. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the cascading water along the boardwalk as they explore this hidden gem in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Additionally, nearby accommodations at Running Bear Resort provide rustic yet comfortable cabins for those looking to extend their stay in this scenic area.
We have been here several times and it's one of our favorite waterfalls in the western u.p. It's an easy walk to the base of them and you can walk up along both sides for better views or experience. It's a nice one to bring littles too that can't hike far.

This was amazing! I have only been there in the winter on snowmobiles. The hike was easy and fun, the little outpost was a great stop, had fun feeding the ducks. They have a picnic spot with tables and standing grills. We are going back to use the grill and cookout there and hike again. It is really a place to visit. Just loved it.
SuAnne R — Google review
These fall rival Tahquamenon falls! Easy walk from parking lot. Really worth seeing. Great place to view God's beautiful creation!
Steve A — Google review
Bond Falls is a very easy walk from the parking lot to the boardwalk, which gives you views from the bottom of the falls. Beyond the boardwalk, to the right of the falls, you can walk a short trail that takes you to the top of the falls. Beautiful area.
Angela W — Google review
I grew up in Upper Michigan and never made it to Bond Falls until this year. It was beautiful, and had really nice decks to walk and view the falls from. Short walk as well.
Zach E — Google review
Bond Falls is beautiful. I suggest taking the steps that go to the top of the falls. It's also pretty upstream.
Darcy M — Google review
I love this waterfall. It's not just one waterfall. It's walking alongside for a quarter mile and seeing multiple falls and cascades.
Ken G — Google review
My favorite waterfall. Beautiful scenery, free to park and visit, small giftshop with ice cream. They have installed more accessible paths and walkways, in addition to the wooded paths along the water.

Munising Falls is a popular attraction at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, featuring a 50-foot waterfall cascading over a sandstone cliff. The paved trail leading to the falls offers easy access and is suitable for all visitors. There are viewing platforms along the way that provide different perspectives of the falls. In winter, the area transforms with beautiful ice formations, creating a unique experience for visitors.
Not only is it a pretty waterfall in a very picturesque setting that is worth a visit in any season. But it also happens to be one of the easiest ones to access during the winter months. Finally made it to the Pictured Rock National Lakeshore during a winter of significant snowfall and was really taken aback by the snow depth. This winter it is a snow lovers paradise and haven to Lake Superior ice fishers for sure. As well as cross country skiers, or snow shoe enthusiasts and not to mention the ice climbers. If you love winter this would be the place for you.
Keith G — Google review
Really can't rate this. We took the time to go, only to discover the trail to the falls was damaged and we could not go. I did like that it said no pets allowed on the other trail. It gets old dodging dog poop that people are too irresponsible to clean up.
BL W — Google review
The falls is closed due to path damage as of 9/16/25. The ranger station visit is necessary however to get the pass for the rest of the park. Call ahead for more info.
D.S. C — Google review
There's a very short walk to the falls and there are multiple viewing platforms. There is a large parking lot here and there is a building with restrooms. The visitor's center is just a trailer with a window for now as it is a temp building while they are preparing a permanent one. The rangers are friendly and you can stamp your national parks passport book here. If you don't have a pass for Pictured Rocks, this should be your first stop in the park.
Thirteendays — Google review
Located in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park, this waterfall is easily accessible via the trail from the visitor center. The 800 ft trail will take you to a juncture where you can view the waterfall on the lower by a boardwalk or take the stairs to view the upper part of the falls. There is a large parking lot by the visitor center. Keep in mind this is part of the National Park System and you will need to purchase a park pass.
Richard G — Google review
Short walk to a very nice waterfall! There is stairs leading to an upper deck and then a lower deck aswell. There was a small crowd of people there even though it was raining. I definitely recommend giving this place a stop!
Anna B — Google review
This is a short hike that is wheelchair accessible to the lower viewpoint. This was such a nice walk. It is about 800 feet from the visitor center. You can take a trail off the right that goes to an upper viewpoint. It does get crowded on the main part of the trail.
Donna S — Google review
Awesome waterfall! And it's right at the visitor center. There's not many waterfalls that are this short of a walk and flat and paved the whole way. Especially being that it's less than 1/4 mile and was still flowing at the end of the summer.

Bodies of Water
Tahquamenon Falls, located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is a must-see natural wonder. It consists of two powerful waterfalls - the Upper and Lower falls - known for their unusual brown tinge due to cedar tannins in the water. The falls are situated in Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the second largest park in Michigan.
Beautiful day here ! Beware of the shuttle - it’s literally a minivan and fits six people today. So just an fyi if your trying to shuttle one way and there are already people waiting for it. No one mentioned this to us . Otherwise had a perfect day ! Lunch at brewery was delicious !
Erica P — Google review
There are alot of stairs!!! Elderly and handicapped, please be fore warned. You either need a parks permit or purchase a day pass. I believe it was $11 per vehicle and was good for as many parks as you chose to visit, that day! Great views. But 1 section was closed for maintenance when we went. But was still very enjoyable and a workout all in one. And I even appreciated and applauded the effort put in to build the whole walk way setup. That would not be an east task! I believe it's also referred to as root beer falls because of the color of the water due to the minerals being leeched into the water from the trees.
Here G — Google review
Love it.. it's quite beautiful. Big change stair to the platform to the falls is closer so, you can't get that close. But, can't wait for the construction to be done for the new 1
Shantae B — Google review
The Park Service is currently building a wheelchair accessible platform at the base of the falls. I can't wait for it to be finished!
John H — Google review
Beautiful tannin stained waterfall in Eastern UP. Easily accessible. Upper Falls and Lower Falls each have their own entrance off of 123, or you can hike the 5 miles one way and make a day of it. Each park has food, a gift shop and bathrooms; state park pass required and can be purchased at the gate. The lower falls allow you to get up close to explore, which is good and bad bc many social trails have developed on the island due to increased traffic. Definitely bring the bug spray or wear long sleeves/pants for the mosquitoes. Highly recommend a stop to explore these falls!
Angela W — Google review
So beautiful! The trials were easy to walk and the area was very clean. The gift shop was super cute as well
Chanel Y — Google review
My favorite place in the UP!!! All of these falls are so breathtaking and beautiful!! I love that they built the new bridge to cross at the lower falls!

Short walk from the parking lot definitely worth it. Very nice and glad we went. Bring bug spray

Nestled within the stunning Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Miners Falls is a must-visit for waterfall lovers. This breathtaking 60-foot cascade tumbles over a sandstone ledge, creating a mesmerizing sight that draws visitors year-round. The journey to the falls is made easy by a well-maintained gravel path that spans just 1.2 miles round trip, complete with wooden stairs leading down to an observation platform for an up-close view of the rushing water.
Beautiful, wooded walk through tall trees and a wide gravel path to the waterfall. Gushing waterfall when we visited with a nice, cool mist breeze. Easy-moderate hike, 1.2 miles (.6 miles to waterfall and then back to the parking area). A few hill step-downs at the start of the trail and about 50 steps to get to the lower viewing deck of the falls (which is best for viewing). There is an upper deck viewing area but the view of the entire waterfall is much more limited. Other than the 3-4 step downs at the start of the trail, it’s mostly handicap inclusive.
Jewels D — Google review
This is an amazing waterfall. About .6 miles to hike in. Nothing drastic. 72 steps at the end and you can walk down to the lower park. There is challenging terrain once at the bottom but you can get to the base of the falls. Beautiful and feels great!
Gerid ( — Google review
.6 of a mile hike to miner falls but so beautiful. You’re able to go down into the falls as well.
Amanda S — Google review
A gorgeous waterfall with multiple viewpoints. 15 minutes from the parking lot to the falls or less. I visited on the last weekend of September around 1pm and it was pretty busy; the parking lot was full enough for cars to line the road coming up. Don’t let that deter you! Only about half of visitors or less ended up at the bottom of the falls due to the steep and rugged climb down, so I was able to get about 3 minutes uninterrupted with the falls for clear photos. The climb down involves a very steep rooted path over the rocks with a roughly 4’ wall of rock to scale when coming back up about midway (a foot step is carved in the stone but kids will definitely need help). There are two viewing platforms across from the top if you can’t make it down, but I saw a group of 7-10y/o kids and at the bottom with their parents.
Hannah F — Google review
Finally posting from August. Beautiful hike thru the woods. It does involve some stairs and inclines. My Apple Watch clocked it at 1.34 miles and 30minutes.
Lisa H — Google review
Amazing. The final 50ft descend to the waterfall is not paved. But there are ropes and roots that can be used as hand rails.
Aravind P — Google review
Very cool to see these falls up close. There are quite a few stairs to climb after a relatively easy hike.
Kathy L — Google review
Absolutely worth the drive to see this beautiful waterfall. The hike down is a short one.

Sable Falls is a must-see gem nestled within Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, making it an essential stop for any traveler exploring Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This stunning waterfall cascades gracefully over unique sandstone formations, plunging 75 feet into the pristine waters of Lake Superior. The journey to Sable Falls is accessible via a short trail from the parking area, leading you to a staircase with 168 steps that offers breathtaking views along the way.
Beautifulest falls. Well worth going to see it. It is a short drive from Grand Marais, which is also a nice place to visit.
Derrick S — Google review
Very clean. Beautiful park, easy access to trail to the falls. We didn't go all the way down to the bottom but still had a great view!
Lana - — Google review
Awesome trail! There are stairs to get to the falls but other than that it is a fairly easy hike. There is a trail in the park that goes to a dune overlook and the view of Lake Superior is well work the short hike!
Cassie B — Google review
Loved this location! I go up north looking for good spots to rock hound. I decided to go see this fall but didnt expect to be rock hounding this location. I didnt bring any tools but I was able to look in the river after the falls off the trail and it ends at Lake Superior. Pretty easy walk but wouldn't go if I were older and out of shape. Definitely good things to find on the beach. This is my new favorite spot. Deer park used to be but has been washed up in 2025.
Mary W — Google review
This was my favorite stop of our entire two week vacation. It was breathtakingly beautiful. There’s a lot of steps to go down to get to it and don’t forget you gotta come back up and it’s 168 steps. We are above 60 years of age, and we did it. It was totally worth it. A must stop for anybody going to the UP.
Kelly — Google review
Gorgeous. The views are amazing! Incredible beach at the bottom.
Smurf H — Google review
A beautiful waterfall. Worth the effort to complete it. From Wikipedia: Sable Falls is a waterfall located on Sable Creek in the easternmost portion of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Alger County, Michigan. The main access road to the falls is H-58 west of Grand Marais, Michigan. The falls tumbles 75 feet over Munising and Jacobsville sandstone formations.[1] The waterfall is approximately one-half mile from Lake Superior. Stairs allow for relatively easy access to the falls. Between 2007 and 2010, the park service extended the boardwalk along the falls to include a portion of Sable Creek downstream from the major (upper) falls to allow visitors to take in the minor (lower) falls and rapids downstream. There is no handicap accessibility to the site.

Hungarian Falls, located near Hubbell, offers a series of five major drops on Hungarian Creek. The upper falls cascade about 25 feet into a small holding pond above a dam, with the overflow creating a second falls during higher water levels. A short yet somewhat challenging hike leads to these majestic scenic sites. The trail through the woods provides access to the falls, which are fed by Dover Creek and flow down to Torch Lake.
Beautiful, easy hike. Many photo opportunities. There's a very steep incline you have to drive up and park on the side of the road. I was very bummed when I got to the upper falls, that a couple had their 3 dogs off leash, giving them free range of the Falls. Since I had my dog, I couldn't go down and get up close to the Falls. I will be going back!
Shannon S — Google review
So many areas and falls to explore. Hiked in expecting to see a fall but was rewarded with several. You can spend hours here sitting and watching the falls, hiking the trails, wading in the water, or discovering the forest around the area. Family enjoyed the whole experience. You could visit over and over. Water levels and fall colors would only add to the adventure.
B H — Google review
Great hike great views, you can also go under the waterfall so bring swimsuits!
Lajos B — Google review
👍 Highlights: #. Multiple Waterfalls: Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls each offer unique views and experiences. The Middle Falls are particularly popular for wading and swimming. #. Year-Round Access: Open in all seasons, with snowshoeing opportunities in winter and vibrant colors in autumn but more beautiful during spring snowmelt or fall foliage. #. Wildlife and Serenity: The pond near the upper falls is perfect for wildlife viewing, and the area feels secluded despite its popularity. 👎 Considerations: #. Poor Signage: Trailheads and paths are not well-marked, making navigation tricky. Use GPS or maps to find entry points. #. Steep and Slippery Sections: Some trails require scrambling over rugged terrain, and rocks near the falls can be hazardous. #. Limited Parking: Parking is along Golf Course Road, unplowed in winter, and spaces fill quickly during peak times. 📌 Tips: · Visit after rainfall or during spring snowmelt for the most impressive water flow. · Wear sturdy footwear and bring insect repellent for mosquitoes.
Ahsan S — Google review
Difficult to find the roads but beautiful once you're there.
Wendy M — Google review
Great hiking adventure, though time of year and water depth may limit your ability to get to bigger bottom falls. When I was there, we had to hike a mile or so down, climb down am embankment by an old, fallen bridge, then walk a mile back. It was a lot of fun though.
Mike ( — Google review
The big waterfall is to the left, there's a bunch of smaller waterfalls on the right. Watchout for mosquitoes. If the water levels are low, you can walk on the exposed rocks up along or even in the river.
Ed L — Google review
I saw the lower and middle falls this trip and next year I will definitely swim in the middle falls and hike to the upper falls! The lower falls were indeed a challenge to get to and I walked through some sort of plant that made me break out but totally worth it! Steep ledges and slippery rocks beware.

Agate Falls is considered one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Michigan, cascading over erosion-resistant sandstone shelves. It's located near the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, which is home to diverse wildlife and nearly 100 waterfalls. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful hike to reach the falls and take in magnificent views from both the top and bottom.
Recommend hiking to the railroad bridge, now used for a snowmobile/atv trail, above the falls. On the north side of M28 is an unpaved overflow parking lot with a utility road which leads to the trail and bridge. Off road trail sign post is from the Mile West road intersection east of the falls (46.4782775, -89.0330553).
John P — Google review
One of our favorite places in the u.p. The lookout doesn't give a real great view, so if you want a better view you need to take to the path . It's a steep climb down to the falls cut completely worth it! They are so beautiful and very refreshing to take a swim in. Also if you are in shape and can make it up above to the railroad tressle the view is amazing 🤩. Restrooms available and they are usually well maintained.
Arkansas M — Google review
This. This is what makes hours of driving worth it. Road construction, bug bites, sunburn, none of that matters when you get to see something as stunning and spectacular as this. This is one of the most gorgeous waterfalls anywhere. Maybe not the biggest, or longest, or greatest amount of water, but the sheer beauty of this one is almost unparalleled. The multiple tiers, the bridge over the top, the small beach and surprisingly calm river with mist rising up and floating away. It is truly awesome and serene at the same time. The view from the top is not great, being mostly blocked by the trees. If you want the really spectacular views, you need to be a bit adventurous and climb down. There are some hazards here. It's steep, slick, there are roots and holes. You need to be sure-footed and having footwear with good tread is a huge plus. The descent is worth it. You can get right up to the falls (I probably could have walked right to the middle, and stood on the falls, but didn't want to get soaked with hours more driving and several other stops planned). The hike back up isn't as bad as it seems from the bottom. Take your time, plan where you're going to grab and where you're going to place your feet, and you'll be fine. I can't recommend this enough. This is worth seeing, even if you have to drive several hours and hundreds of miles.
Nathan F — Google review
Had low expectations from other reviews for the observation deck and it was met - trees obscured the view. But as others said, you can still see but have to go past the deck which was a bit more challenging - wife did not go. But the falls are beautiful. This was the 6th of 7 falls today. Only 0.4 miles round trip.
N F — Google review

Eagle River Falls is a picturesque waterfall located on the south side of Michigan 26, easily accessible from the parking lot with just a short walk. The falls consist of upper and lower sections, with the most significant drop measuring about 60 feet. A viewing platform provides a stunning vantage point over the falls' flow. Additionally, there's a pedestrian bridge offering an excellent view of the falls when passing through Eagle River on State Highway M-26.

Canyon Falls, located in L'Anse, Michigan, is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of the UP due to its breathtaking beauty. The falls cascade over black rocks into a boxed canyon, creating a scene reminiscent of a fantasy world. Accessible from Take 2 between Bessemer and Wakefield, visitors can park near Blackjack Road and take a relatively easy trek to reach the falls. The trail offers stunning scenery and plenty of photo opportunities along the river bed.
Winter: park by gate, depending on snow only room for 2-3 cars. North side of road. 5 min walk from road to parking lot. Find trail to right- there was a fair amount of people there so you could follow the footsteps to the trail. Snow is deep right now. It is about 20min back to viewing overlook. If you go down from viewing area it is icy. Follow trail until you get to a big rock. It seems further than it should be. The falls are mostly frozen now, little water. The walk is challenging -not easy but not extreme. Worth the walk to see a frozen waterfall if you can’t make it to any others.
Susan C — Google review
A gorgeous hike along a beautiful river trail with several small falls leading the way to the gorgeous and the larger falls. Would highly recommend this stop along your way.
Kathryn B — Google review
This might be my favorite hike in Michigan! Easy, lush, green, fresh air, beautiful! Just about 10-15 minutes out to the main spot/falls. 0.70miles to the cliff that people jump off into the water.
Lisa H — Google review
This was such an amazing experience! The parking lot had plenty of free spots. There’s a bathroom and a water fountain too. There’s benches and trashes scattered around the front of the park. The hike down was easy and there was a board walk. I would’ve loved to go swimming here! I can’t believe that this is in Wisconsin. There were plenty of areas with thick roots which was cool. The Waterfall was breathtaking. Can’t wait to come back

Nestled in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Spray Falls is a breathtaking 70-foot waterfall that cascades directly into the stunning waters of Lake Superior. Located just under two miles northeast of Chapel Beach, this natural wonder can be best appreciated from the water. While hiking trails like the North Country National Scenic Trail pass nearby, they offer limited views.
Gorgeous waterfall over the Pictured Rocks. The stream never really emerges from the forest before it dramatically tumbles over the edge. North of the waterfall are some wide sandy "beaches" on top of the bluff with expansive views while south of the waterfall the bluffs are topped with trees and views of the coves.

View of Spray Falls from the boat ride! Really beautiful and lots of water flowing during late-May.
Nicholas K — Google review
Probably the best water falls in the whole picture rocks lake shore. If you go on the cruise during the sunset, the orange/red sun rays falls on the water which is amazing to watch
Bhargava K — Google review
Beautiful and rather isolated. The hike along the superior coast cliffs makes it easy to forget you're in the midwest. Great lookout point about a 5 min hike to the west of the falls
C C — Google review
Very beautiful waterfall. Really the only way to see this is by kayak or by the picture rock cruises. Because of the cliffs, hiking to it won't allow you to see much. The true beauty can only be seen from the water.

Absolutely gorgeous waterfall! It’s a 5 mile hike from a parking lot (2.5 miles from Chapel Rock) but it’s worth it as you’d see much more on the way. I’m sure a cruise ship can offer a better view but they’re not always available.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park, located in Paradise, is a popular destination known for its stunning waterfalls, woodland hikes, and year-round activities. The park features the impressive Upper Falls, one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River, plunging 50 feet into the Tahquamenon River. Additionally, visitors can explore the picturesque Lower Falls with its smaller yet equally beautiful cascades.
My friend and I hiked both the upper and lower falls. We went to the different parking lots and didn’t walk from one to the other. (Although we found out there is a shuttle so you can hike the 4 miles and get a ride back.) The boardwalks are nice and allow for a safe stroll. The steps to the bottom are also safe and sturdy. The falls are impressive and it was a nice excursion. And it wasn’t crowded which was nice.

This was our first trip in the UP and we heard and read so many great things about this park and it lived up to the hype. This is a beautifully maintained park. The pathways are free of debris and easy to walk. This is coming from two people who didn't think they'd be able to walk the whole Lower Falls, let alone the Upper Falls too. The Lower Falls is about a 2-mile walk in total. The Upper Falls felt a little less than that. We had a gorgeous day to walk these paths. I would recommend getting to either one of these fairly early as parking fills up. The lower falls seems to have more parking than the upper but once you get there, you'll be glad you went, especially if you love nature.
Erik L — Google review
A beautifully relaxing space in nature. The state has done a phenomenal job of blending human access and convenience with nature. Easy access wooden walkways to the falls. Great spots to overlook the falls, rent and launch kayaks, or access swim spots on the river. The visitor center has lots of great shopping and snacks that help support the park. We are so glad we decided to veer off our original mapped road trip to add this park as a stop. Well worth the extra mileage and time. Plan on spending at least an hour if not more.

Worth the trip, but be prepared to do a little walking. I believe the lower falls are better than the upper falls. Lower falls have a 3/4 + mile walking path with several observation points for photos and viewing the falls. Upper falls have some observation points but some are under construction and are closed. Plenty of parking, restrooms available and a gift shops with some food options. There is a cost to enter the park unless you have the annual pass. Expect some delays as they are paving the roads in the area. Also ensure you have plenty of fuel in your vehicle, limited number of gas stations in the area and gas is 35 to 50 cents higher then national average.
David I — Google review
Beautiful park. The areas near the falls are easy to get to. The top falls has 181 steps down and back up if you want to view it from the Gorge, so be aware. We hiked the 4.5 miles from the bottom to the top falls. There are a lot of ups and downs, roots, soggy areas. If you are out of shape, I would avoid it and drive from the bottom falls to the top after visiting each. If you can hike it, it is beautiful. Round trip was 11 miles of walking. Be sure to plan for the 2.5 hours each way. I wouldn't want to do it in the dark. There is a private shuttle that can take you from one parking lot to the other, $ 20.00 for first person and $5.00 for others in your group. They have limited availability do read the signs and contact them. Gift shops are at the top and bottom falls.
Seth A — Google review
The upper falls were amazing and easy to reach a good view point even in a wheel chair. In the photos and videos you can not really tell how large and powerful the falls really are. There are steps to the gorge view, which will give you a wider view of the falls, however this view is farther from the falls. With it 181 steps to reach the gorge, if you decide not to tackle the steps you will not really miss anything. There is also a 4 mile path between the falls if you are up for a hike.
Debra C — Google review
Awesome scenery! Short and easy walk to the waterfalls. Handicap friendly. They have food, beer, ice cream, restrooms, and a few shops. Something for everyone. I'm glad we made the 2.5 drive from Escanaba. It was a little busy when we went with the fall colors. You won't be disappointed.
Craig K — Google review
Went with my disabled 20 year old son and my teenage daughter. We went on a Tuesday and it was amazing! They could have used more van disabled spots (we have a side lift) but luckily did find a spot without issue. We were able to walk all around the lower falls and around the little island even though it was not paved. Absolutely impressed with how our day trip went! Highly recommend. They even had family bathrooms (an adult changing cable would have been super convenient)!

Nestled in the heart of nature, Laughing Whitefish Falls State Park is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable experience for outdoor enthusiasts. The park's name pays homage to a unique rock formation resembling a laughing whitefish, as recognized by the Native Americans who once inhabited this area. Visitors can embark on a delightful mile-long hike through lush beech-maple forests, leading them to stunning observation platforms that offer breathtaking views of the majestic waterfall.
Laughing Whitefish Falls State Park is a public recreation area protecting 960 acres (390 ha) along the Laughing Whitefish River in Onota Township and Rock River Township, in far western Alger County, Michigan. Its main scenic feature is Laughing Whitefish Falls, a 100-foot fan-shaped cascade located in the southern part of the site, in Rock River Township, eight miles (13 km) south of Lake Superior and three miles north of M-94.[4]

Cool looking falls with wooden stairs that you can take to go down the base of the falls. Short hike to the falls but lots of mosquitoes, to the point we had to run/jog fast so they don’t attack us!!
Vy Z — Google review
I love chasing waterfalls in the UP, and Laughing Whitefish did not disappoint. Cute half mile trail with cute little plants leading to a gorgeous waterfall. It's a lot of stairs if you wanna go to the bottom, but the view from the top is gorgeous too. Vault toilets at the start of the trail.
Kaitlyn D — Google review
So these pictures are from a couple years ago when we went to laughing, whitefish falls, and this is definitely one of my favorite waterfalls ♡ it's absolutely gorgeous ❤️ they and added in a whole staircase of like over a 100 steps. It might be close 200 I don't know the exact number 🫣 but somebody actually started counting the steps with a sharpie 🤣, they put numbers on the stairs, because there were so many of them, but the water washed the numbers away, so I don't know the exact number of how many steps there are lol🤔 I don't remember if that staircase Was there a couple of years ago when we went, but there is a really nice staircase there now just a warning, there's just so many steps. Be prepared for a workout for real 😂♡ you can still get down to the bottom of the waterfall off of the steps, even though they try to detour you not to do that if you really wanted to go to the waterfall part where it's Rocky, you can still do that. ♡ anyways, it is a breathtakingly beautiful waterfall, and I highly recommend to go to see it If you have not seen it, it's just so beautiful 😍
Marie N — Google review
The path to the waterfall was well kept and easy to take. The waterfall was unique in that there was an almost step-like spillway the water flowed down. The steps going down to the lower viewing area were in good condition and had resting benches and viewing areas to see the falls from.
Steve W — Google review
Absolutely spectacular falls! It’s about a half mile stroll through the woods with LOTS of mosquitoes and flies but soooo worth it. Be aware there are many stairs to walk down once you reach the falls to get to the bottom in order to view the entire falls at once. But you can still have a fantastic view from the top without having to go down the stairs. Love this one!
Nicole S — Google review
Worth the trip! The path down to the stairs is about a half mile walk. There are a lot of stairs, but plenty of places to rest. The falls themselves are awesome! PTL! Probably one of the best in the area
D.S. C — Google review
Always love the walk in the woods here. If you want to go to the base of thefalls there are well over 100 steps down and back up. There are a few pesky trees that are in the way but its cool to see them hanging off the cliff face. A unique hollowed out stone cliffside is behind the first platform that is worth taking note of.

Wagner Falls, nestled just 1.5 miles south of Munising, is a stunning natural gem that captivates visitors year-round. Surrounded by majestic old-growth hemlock and pine trees, reaching the falls is a breeze with only a short 25-foot walk from the small parking area to the observation platform. The trail features packed gravel and a charming boardwalk, making it accessible for all.
Nice trail, easy to walk with nice benches to take in nature and a beautiful waterfall at the end. The lot is a little small but no problems when I was there.

Lots of mosquitoes during this time of the year so beware! Still worth a visit though since it’s easy to find with very short, easy trail.
Vy Z — Google review
Beautiful falls that are currently somewhat obscured by recent storm damage. If you can look past the downed trees, the falls are beautiful. Part of me wanted to climb down and push the trees off, but I have no idea what the laws are regarding something like that in Michigan. Hopefully someone from their parks or forestry department can get out there and clean that up. The path and bridges here are well made and well-kept. There are nice views on both sides of the path, though I found the right side (while headed towards the falls) to be far more impressive. There's a nice railed platform that offers views for about six people at a time. The signage here gives some details of the history, a map of several other waterfalls, and emergency numbers and looks to be kept in good repair. There is a decent sized parking area across the street. There are no restrooms or picnic tables, though there are several benches. Worth visiting, but would be significantly better if they moved the fallen trees off to the sides.

Great falls. Worth the stop! Short hike to get there.
Scott C — Google review
Very short walk to a great waterfall. While its not a hug fall, its still very pretty and all the scenery adds to it. There is limited parking at the trailhead, but people are continuously coming and going. The trail is well marked and a beautiful walk as well. If you have an extra 30 minutes in Munising it is worth a stop.

Nice little area that you could walk on with a wheelchair. There was some small hills but managable with a little extra pushing. Had a wooden bridge walkway too. It was a short walk to see the waterfall.

Very easy walk from the parking area. Path is clear and wide. Stroller access until the viewing platform for those with young ones. The falls are beautiful and have a great viewing deck. We went in the evening (around 7:30) and got to enjoy it all to ourselves. That obviously won’t be everyone’s experience, but it made ours really great.

Jacob's Falls is a picturesque roadside attraction located in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. It offers easy access, allowing visitors to enjoy the view from their cars or take a short stroll from the nearby parking lot. While it can be seen without leaving your vehicle, it's recommended to take a brief hike along the steep rock into the woods upstream for an enhanced experience. The falls run under the road and offer a beautiful sight on the other side.
Convenient enjoyable roadside waterfall. Surprised that beyond what you see, there's more! Watched teenagers scamper up in two different areas to experience the continuation. I did not! 😆

Stunning hike along the side of the waterfall. Not busy. Not for beginner or elderly hikers. No structure for the path, I assume it's just created from past explorers. We could have spent hours there. Looks less impressive from the road, but it gets more and more impressive as you go in deeper.
Emily N — Google review
Beautiful falls...very close to road..mosquitoes bad..path on left side of falls has slippy gravel.
Len H — Google review
Nice waterfall you can see from the car. There is a sign that signals where it is. Visit the Jampot right down the road.
Josh I — Google review
Nice view of the falls from the road. It was raining pretty heavy so we didn't hike up the path beside them, but looked like it went somewhere interesting.
Andrew M — Google review
As UP waterfalls go, this one is fine, but not great. It's quite accessible as you can see it from the road and requires no passes. Climbing up is a bit hairy if you want a closer look or a peak up river. The bakery next door makes it a nice stop, but I'm not sure it's worth a long drive without that extra sweetness.

Manganese Falls, a 45-foot tall waterfall located near Copper Harbor off Manganese Road, is a seasonal attraction best seen in spring after the winter thaw. Sourced by Manganese Creek, the falls cascade down a narrow gorge and are often obscured by trees. Visitors can take a short hike from the road to reach an overlook with partial views of the falls or choose a more adventurous path to walk up to and over the falls.
Awesome little hike off the side of the road. If you start the hike at the sign and head down to the overlook, you can have a beautiful site of the falls. If you're more adventurous, then take the path to the right of the overlook, and you can walk up to and over the falls. There is some erosion, so be careful as you cross. If you continue across the falls, there is a path that you can take to follow the creek and eventually get down to the creek bed and check out the area. It has a very fantasy world feeling going on, so I highly recommend it to those of you who like that. Now, there was a path to the left of the overlook, but I did not go down that way. I did see little children down there at the base of the falls, so I assume that the left path may have been the easier way down, but move at your own pace and discretion. Otherwise, a nice fun and short path.
Alberto F — Google review
A short hike to a nice waterfall series! There are a few higher overlook areas, but the best views are towards the bottom. There are a variety of trails around to get around the area. We visted early June and the water wasnt flowing too hard. If it was, I would avoid hiking towards the water.
Abbey M — Google review
What a beautiful place for a little hike. Be careful the trails have a couple spots you literally have to climb down a short distance. Nothing treacherous. Worth it. You can see some quarts veins in the rocks around the area in the river. Pretty cool Im guessing that's why there was a mine further up the river.
Andrewski — Google review
Not as accessible for great pictures, but it's a great setting. You enter at the top and you can hike down through a pretty steep and rocky trail to a bridge below it. There's not a clear shot for picture taking from the bridge though. On the top side, you can hike up the road a little and cut in to see some rough rocks and rapids leading to the falls.
Roger S — Google review
Due to a recent tragedy, the pathway to the view of the falls was roped off. It was a steep climb with no protection on either side, and the views of the falls were decent. There are more interesting falls in the area.
Andrew M — Google review
Pretty waterfall just off the side of the road. There is a sign for the falls, but if you follow that main trail you don’t get a very good look at the falls. There’s a small path off to the right of the main trail that you can follow to get a better look. Recommended for anyone since it’s a short “hike”!

Montreal Falls is a picturesque waterfall located in the Keweenaw area of Michigan. Accessible by driving to the first gate and then biking about 3 miles to reach the trailhead, this hike offers beautiful views and a moderate level of difficulty. While some may find the trail overgrown in spots and populated with bugs, others appreciate its balance of challenge and scenery. Visitors can also combine their trip with a visit to Bare Bluff for an extended outdoor adventure.
Well worth the “rough” ride and hike. Beautiful scenery, hike down the shore, falls are very pretty. We only made it to the lower - we ran out of time.
Bill A — Google review
This review has nothing to do with the actual waterfall. It was very nice and secluded. The reason many people were not there was because it's a 5 mile walk, 3+ On a hilly gravel road. The total hike was 0.5 miles for us. So if you're ready for a long walk, go for it. We think there are just as nice waterfalls with much better hikes associated with them.
Peter R — Google review
This is one of the best waterfalls in the UP, though it can be a pain to get to. I have come at it from multiple directions and recommend parking at Fish Cove and following the shoreline until you reach the falls. The trails are somewhat overgrown and disappear from time to time, but as long as you follow the edge of the Lake, you can't get lost. Plan on spending at least an hour hiking each way no matter how you come in.
Douglas C — Google review
This is one of my favourite trails to hike up here in the Keweenaw, the views are gorgeous and the hike is the right balance for difficulty. Personally, I enjoy the trail more than the falls, however I have not hiked up to the upper falls yet, so that is subject to change. Do note if you plan on hiking this, you will have to hike down a road for a few miles before reaching the trailhead, as the people who maintain the road have a gate up.
Somebody P — Google review
This ended up being a 10 mile hike round-trip if you come from Smith Fisheries Road. I think I'd have been less grumpy about that if I weren't sore from hiking the area the day before. The trail is not difficult at all. I was the only person on this trail the entire time, which I prefer. And the views were absolutely worth it.
Tamaira R — Google review
2023 UPDATE: this is a three hour round trip hike. This is one of the most incredible falls in the UP and it flows right into the big lake. You park by the first blue gate. Then walk twenty minutes to the second blue gate. Then walk thirty minutes to a large log wood gate (which was the only gate last year)
Mr.Quick M — Google review
Drove to the first gate, then rode our bikes about 3 miles to the end of the road where the trail to the falls begins. I would NOT recommend walking the 3 extra miles for this hike. The falls are cool, but there are a ton of nice falls in the area. The trail is overgrown in spots, and lots of bugs. If you're in the area, and are also hiking Bare Bluff, then it may be worth the extra distance to do this. We started early, biked out to the falls, then on our way back, stopped at Bare Bluff and hiked that also.
Jason P — Google review
One of our favorite falls and hikes! Fairly level path until the very top along the river but one of the most interesting hikes along the way. The mile back skirts along the rock bluff edge over Superior to the bottom falls immediately dumping into the lake. A small beach access and open area allows you to linger as long as you like before hiking up to the middle and upper falls. Downed trees to climb over, interesting roots to traverse and really fun natural elements including a spring fed little stream flowing directing through the root system of an old cedar! It's a road challenge(nothing worse than many of the access roads) getting to the trail head but worth it. Dont miss this gem!

Superior Falls is a stunning 65-foot waterfall located on the Montreal River, right on the border between Michigan and Wisconsin. Visitors can enjoy a viewing area above the falls or follow a trail down to the lake for an even closer view. The waterfall has multiple drops totaling over 110 feet and sits just below a dam, making it an impressive sight. The hike down to the falls is steep but manageable, with a roughly cemented path that makes it easier.
The waterfall are absolutely beautiful and the fact that about half of the water if not, more is actually going into a giant water power plant that you need to walk by on your way to see the fall is pretty amazing when you think about it. It’s pretty easy to walk on over the hill is pretty steep and it goes right into Lake superior.

Great spot for some pictures the waterfall is great , the maps or directions aren't the greatest kinda had to look around to actually find the viewing spots. Didn't find these on any of the Wisconsin waterfalls loop list's thankfully found them on Google and I would say they are worth it.

What an amazingly beautiful waterfall! If you like waterfalls, this is definitely one of the best ones I have ever seen! There's a good size parking lot at the top of falls. You can see the from over the top with just a short hike. From there you can go downhill and take a short hike to see the falls from the bottom. The falls then flow out into Lake Superior. It is an absolutely beautiful area.

A top visit only slightly below Bond Falls in amazement. Here you can experience the red clay cliffs along the shore from on top as well as shoreline. A rough "paved" path guides you down for grip in either direction. Then you can crawl along the rocks, hugging the wall, to reach a small beach facing the falls (just one). Bring a swimsuit to make your way to the base of the falls and start climbing it.
Bikes W — Google review
Cool falls with unique rock formation. Cool to see if your in the area
Zach B — Google review
The waterfall is great but hard to find. No signage in this area to show where it is. Decent trails and good views.
Zane M — Google review
I should have double checked Google maps before we went, as we missed hiking at the top of the falls! That being said, it was beautiful down below. The hike down and up is steep but roughly cemented for trucks, which makes it easier. The Superior shoreline is beautiful, and a great place to have a fire and relax. You can see the falls from the rocky beach, and it's beautiful. When hiking around, you need to go past a power plant building and be cautious if the water is high. But walking along the trail is absolutely gorgeous and flat down there. It's a beautiful place. There's also a very short trail to look out at the top (go to the right instead of down). We really enjoyed our visit here!

This is a gorgeous spot but I must warn you that there is a massive staircase with hundreds of steps to get down to the falls & back up to the parking lot. This is not fair the faint of heart, small pets or young children. The views are spectacular! You can walk right down & touch the water. I highly recommend to bring the Littles to this place. Amazing gift shop, too.

Stopped by on a whim and was really liked this place. Pay $12 and you get to feed ducks and fish, the botanical gardens are very well maintained with a cool wishing well. But the best thing was the waterfall. Definitely worth checking out!
Dustin W — Google review
Since 1970, Horseshoe Falls tranquil and natural setting has been the perfect spot to experience nature at its best. The grounds are well maintained, enabling visitors to see the wide variety of trees and plants that grow naturally within the fall’s vicinity. Water from the falls cascades to form a pond, home to many large rainbow trout. Children and adults alike enjoy feeding the trout as well as participating in our gnome scavenger hunt. Plus, we love dogs! Bring your furry friend with you on your adventures.
Greg K — Google review
The entry fee is $12/each. We chose not to go. There are about 5 waterfalls within 5 minutes that don't charge a fee. Castle Rock was $2/each, and we paid for that. Their gift shop is nice. Maybe we're missing something, but we had visited falls for 2 days and this was the only one with a fee.
Brent R — Google review
CAUTION: Tourist trap. There's a $12 admission to view a waterfall that should be free for all to see. You're better off saving your time and money for any of the other much larger waterfalls in the U.P. that are free to see and enjoy.
Billy P — Google review
After 7 waterfalls, this was the first where we had an admission cost. But don’t let that deter you. The falls are gorgeous and the grounds are fun and whimsical. A great spot. Plus the gift shop is very cute and the staff was friendly. A must-see in Munising.

Tannery Falls, also known as Olson Falls, is a stunning 40-foot waterfall nestled in a picturesque sandstone canyon. This hidden gem can be accessed via a trail that starts near H-58 and Washington St., offering nature enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of the falls, often without the crowds. The hike features some steep sections but rewards adventurers with breathtaking views of both Tannery and Memorial Falls, which cascade into charming horseshoe-shaped rock bowls.
Very gorgeous waterfalls not too hard of a track in the winter time
Mr B — Google review
Closed from the main trailhead because of the locals. The only way to get there now is via the north country trail by the Munising Falls located behind the admissions building and the shop. To be completely honest it doesn’t look like the pictures from the bottom and it is a bummer that it is gate-keeped by the community.
David C — Google review
I tried droning it from the neighborhood but there isn't anything in any of the canopy openings. Not fair something so beautiful is closed off.
Monika N — Google review
The falls is now on private property and the trail is closed to the public. This is according to the park ranger at munising falls. There is also a hefty fine for trespassing.
Pat T — Google review
Liked it. More of a hike than my wife wanted, but me and families we passed enjoyed it

I finally got to see this fall after missing it a few years ago, there is no place to park next to the stairs and one must park a distance and hoof it in,, I was THE ONLY person back there and the hike is precarious, bring hiking sticks and wear hike shoes or boots, very scary in spots where the trail gave away but once u get back there,,its "wow worthy" I spent some time going down and around the falls and taking photos,,, stupendous and very happy I finally got to see this!!
MsFlyingdove — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite waterfalls in the UP. It's not large, but so picturesque. We went the end of July after a decent period of rain and it was flowing wonderfully. Park on Washington Street next to a small brick building and then cross the street over a guard rail and you will see a small opening in the trees on the far side that has signage and some wood boardwalks. Upon entering the forest you are met with two signs, M falls and O falls. The O falls to the right will take you to Tannery Falls. A short but slightly challenging hike is all it takes. There is some roots and rocks as well as some rather steep hills to climb. You will pass by a large and stunning rock wall. Those who have trouble walking may find it difficult or impossible to reach.

Scott Falls is a charming waterfall located in Munising, Michigan, specifically along highway M-28 near the town of Au Train. Despite its appearance in photos, the falls are actually taller than they seem. It's one of the easiest waterfalls to visit in the Upper Peninsula and is perfect for families with young kids due to its easy accessibility. You can conveniently park on M-28 or at the H.J.
Scott Falls is a waterfall located along highway M-28 in Alger County, Michigan near the town of Au Train. The falls drops about 10 feet (3.0 m) over a sandstone cliff into a small pool. The falls can be seen from the highway; they are across the road from the H.J. Rathfoot State Roadside Park.

A small waterfall right across the road from the beach. You can park right on the side of the road and its just a few feet to the falls. While its a fairly small waterfall, it is still unique and a fun stop. You can walk behind it which is unique as well!

Beautiful little falls on the opposite side of the road of the lakefront. We missed it the first time we visited and just went to face in rock that time. I'm glad we found it this time. What a beautiful little falls

Nestled along the scenic Keweenaw Peninsula in Lac La Belle, Haven Falls is a charming 20-foot waterfall that offers a delightful escape for travelers. This quaint roadside park features picnic areas and ample space for children to play, making it an ideal spot for families. The falls are easily accessible from the road, allowing visitors to get up close and even dip their toes in the refreshing water. While parking may be limited, it's typically not crowded, ensuring a peaceful visit.
It was super pretty, the google maps is a little wrong. On how to get there. Even though the older man on the look out site was very nice , and he did like to talk. That is not where the waterfall is. Follow the road below and not up. ( the husband was driving) lol You could walk right up and touch it. Even dip your feet in it.

Great falls in a small roadside park. There is a pavilion and a picnic table. There's also a little bridge that goes over the little brook. Very picturesque. Worth a stop to take it in.
Roberta P — Google review
5* because it's family / road trip friendly, right on the main road, and pretty. It's at a primitive rest stop with ruins of an old stamping mill at one end. The falls are tall.

One of the more accessible falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Havens Falls is only a short walk from the parking lot at Haven Falls Park. I visited in early June and the wildflowers added to it's picturesque beauty. If you're in the area, it's worth the drive to explore the northeast side or the Keweenaw Peninsula.

A cute park near Lac Labelle in Michigan’s UP. Picnic area, and room for kids to play. A wonderful waterfall and stream are safe enough for kids to play around without 100% supervision. Parking is skimpy, but 1- 2 cars is the normal maximum amount of visitation at any time. If you are in the Bete Grise area, this should be a must.

The Presque Isle River Waterfalls Loop Trailhead is a must-visit destination on the edge of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The trail offers stunning views of Manabezo Falls, Manido Falls, and Nawadaha Falls. Hikers can choose between the east and west sides of the trail, with the former providing more opportunities to explore the rocky terrain by the water.
Westside of the trail is the best for view the falls. We saw some crayfish when we got to the beach. Trails are well maintained. But there are a few spots that are a bit tricky with the snow and ice.
Stephanie V — Google review
If you're okay with walking a couple miles on uneven terrain, you're going to have some beautiful views of waterfalls, natural whirlpools and see the Presque River drain into Lake Superior. Saw some wildlife. Bring bug spray!
Megan G — Google review
This is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The trees are gorgeous. Watch where you step there are alot of cool mushrooms and native plants to protect. I would highly recommend. The trails are short and the views are stunning. Bathrooms are available by the parking lot.
Andrewski — Google review
This trail is a Michigan MUST DO!! We loved it so much. 4 adults and 6 kids between us and there was something for everyone. Forest therapy, epic waterfalls, flower and fungus species galore, beach, cool rocks, frogs and snakes and critters for our animal lovers… we wish it had kept going! Next time we will plan for more miles. We could have sat out at the beach for hours- kids either played with driftwood sticks or looked for critters in the river. Adults rock hounded and we enjoyed a swim.
Derek A — Google review
The river and waterfalls are beautiful. The river is too dangerous for swimming. However, you'll find Lake Superior at the far end of the trail. The trail has frequent changes in elevation in the 10 to 20-ft range. The main obstacle is numerous tree roots. At least half the trail is impeded by tree roots. On July 2nd there were no mosquitoes or biting flies. If you are in poor health or have mobility or visual impairments, this trail is not for you.
Robert L — Google review
One of my favorite hikes. Waterfalls are beautiful, east trail is somewhat difficult but very worth the effort
Doug S — Google review
Beautiful, dog friendly, and shaded walk along the river. 3 different falls on this loop alone. If you continue on to another trail you can see more falls but we didn’t prepare for a longer hike. Loop itself is just over 2 miles. There are overlooks with benches as well!

Gabbro Falls, located near the Blackjack Ski Resort in the Upper Peninsula, is a hidden gem with its breathtaking cascades. The Black River creates a picturesque scene as it drops 40 feet into a gorge. Accessible from a gravel area and offering stunning views, this wild waterfall is nestled in a crack of rock near Wakefield, Michigan. However, caution is advised as there are no designated safe viewing areas and the terrain can be dangerous.
Do not miss these falls! Go past where Google says and drive over the bridge turn left on the dirt road about 1/4 mile on the left.
Mike L — Google review
Bigger falls than I imagined! Google directions took me to a weird two track - don’t stop there, continue down the road and follow around to the left up the hill a bit. There’s a little trail, maybe 100ft or so to the view. Be very careful as there is steep ledges
Tristen R — Google review
Like the prior reviews stated Google sends you off course, Go past where Google says and drive over the bridge turn left on the dirt road about 1/4 mile on the left. It is an unsteady course to view the fall, and a steep ledge to stand on also. I don't suggest for elderly or young kids. It's a great view! But view at your own risk.
Brenda S — Google review
Google Maps takes you to a dirt turn off which was extremely muddy when I was passing through end of June. I was going to skip it when I was driving around to turn around I followed the road around to the left which led to the other side of the falls and another much easier way to park on the side of the road and walk to view the waterfall.
Roberta P — Google review
We did find it as the reviews explained how to get to the top, we will be going back to explore more because we want to get to the bottom. We were exploring falls all day so did not have the energy, as we left I put into GPS a different location for trail it was on left small parking and a guy was there I asked about the yrail on that side. He said steep.he only went part way. But there might have been another trail on that side.
Jackie G — Google review
Very interesting place to see. The waterfall is a different color. The beauty of the indifferent makes it work seeing. A short trail to walk to see the top of the water falls. You can also see it from a short distance to see the waterfalls. I must warn you.... please, if you go see it please be careful. Walk slowly and watch your step. Do not lean over cliff. You could fall in.
Sylvia V — Google review
An amazing waterfall. Definitley worth the hike. Not very many marked trails but if you use your ears you can hear you way to this gorgeous waterfall. 💗
Saije K — Google review
The falls are magnificent if you can get to them. Google will not get you there. Go to the ski resort and use that as a base. If you park in the gravel lot by the ski resort, just walk back up the Blackjack road and you will see the path on the right side of the road. We were told by people coming out of the trail it was sketchy. Sketchy means you need waterproof footwear and a tolerance for mud. Unfortunately we did not have the waterproof footwear as this was kind of a last minute decision/ Once we hit the deep mud, we had to turn around. We then went up the hill on the road and you will see iron fencing on the right side with a delaoidated building there. This is the parking spot. The trail is on the left side with a ull off big enough for 1 or 2 cars. The walk in is short, but the view from the top of the waterfall is great. We were there shortly after rain, so we weren't comfortable climbing far out on the slippery rocks. Still it was beautiful and with the rain the river was running at a good pace so the falls looked very powerful. Well worth the trip. We will go back with hiking boots to see it from the bottom.

As the uppermost set of falls on the river, it features a dramatic 20-foot drop over unique conglomerate rock formations, creating two impressive cascades best admired from a designated viewing platform. The journey to these falls involves a hike that can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on your pace and stamina.
Nice Falls area! Less than a mile. We counted 111 stairs. It had been fairly dry around the time we visited. The plus side to this was that you could walk out to the top of the falls.
Deb O — Google review
Only complaint was the amount of stairs to get down to the falls. I thought it was definitely worth the hike, but this falls was by far the most stairs out of all the falls we saw our whole trip

Cool falls that you can walk around and even out to the waterway if low enough. About a mile walk from the parking lot, a bit small, maybe 8 cars max.

The first official waterfall and stop on the Black River National Scenic Byway. The trail is fairly flat to sloping down and 3/4 of a mile one way. The falls are large and difficult to capture in a photograph. There is a small, well marked parking lot here and the trail was in pretty good shape.
Trypp A — Google review
There are a bunch of trails which lead to the river or one long one that goes from the front to the back. When we went the bugs were not bad at all, make sure you bring some water though. There are some elevation changes with, in some cases, many stairs.

Carp River Falls is a picturesque spot located along the Carp River Trail, which is part of the South Trails Noquemanon Trail Network. The trail offers a stunning natural terrain with an abundance of flora such as thimbleberries and forget-me-nots. To reach the falls, visitors can follow a marked trail for about half a mile from the end location provided by Google Maps.
Best falls near Marquette! Watch for this trail with the raised metal ground. That's where you go-in on foot. Where you park before that is up to you. DO NOT walk past this section, as you'll miss the falls completely. Yes, the money shot is exactly where Google has it pinned. Attached is my pouring rain shot.

Not too hard to find. You can actually follow the road all the way until you see the path on the right I took a picture of. We ended up stopping where the "road" on google maps ended and hiking the rest of the way. It was a short maybe half mile hike and nice to stretch our legs. It was a little tricky to get a good photo of the falls when we went, but it was still a lovely out of the way spot. I enjoyed climbing down the rivers edge to look at the cool way the rock was breaking apart.
Emma S — Google review
The Carp River Falls are beautiful. But when you finally find out how to get there, be prepared for an extreme hike. You will hike through a dense forest area with tall trees. Be careful of your footsteps, there are parts of the trail that is very steep and slippery. Watch yourself on the path and stay to the left. Going to far to the right and you could slip off the edge.
Jennifer I — Google review
Challenging to find. Beautiful, lengthy cascades... but you have to follow a 12-inch wide path on the edge of a cliff to see most of the cascades. Very pretty location if you have the nerve for it. Pics don't do it justice, but I wouldn't do it again!
Dawn A — Google review
It was a mile total. Would have been much less, but I didn’t drive the entire road, even though I could have. Parked at a clearing, but as many have shown, I could have parked right by the trail start. Nice falls. No way down.
Greg A — Google review
Can't give this any stars as we didn't even get to it! Google maps failed to get us there!! It wouldn't even show us the direction we were going, totally stopped working! Totally missed this waterfalls and about 5 others we tried to see because Google maps kept sending us to places marked as private property or totally stopped working!!
Sue C — Google review
Not the easiest to get to, but so worth it! If you are sure-footed and know what you are doing, you can get a great view of the falls, but DO NOT try to get down closer to the falls if you have any doubt. It is a steep drop right down to the river.
Andy S — Google review
Two track back was fun and brought back memories! Wish things were marked better but we got to it. Keep going past the sanitary station (dump) on the road, then it turns to a two track about half a mile. We walked back and there was a new bridge which overlooked a cute fall. We were going to just leave but there was a trail following the river downstream so we thought we would just see where it led. Didn't seem like much because the trail was so high and the river was about 40 feet straight down but we found an area that was still steep but doable for us 50+ year olds and hard as it was was sooo worth it. Hike down was one of the more extreme ones for us.

Rock River Falls is a hidden gem located about 25 miles from Munising near Chatham, within the Rock River Wilderness area. Accessing these falls involves driving on old logging roads and a hike of approximately one mile. The nearby Laughing Whitefish Falls is also worth visiting, offering easy accessibility and stunning scenery in the same wilderness area.
Very beautiful hike. Road leading to the parking area is super rough.
Janice H — Google review
The drive in is 3 miles of pot holes so be prepared. The hike and falls are beautiful. Make sure you go up to the top of the falls. The fungus was great.
Raquel M — Google review
The road that leads to the waterfall is a little rough, as is the trail. It’s definitely been neglected by the forrest service. This trail is not suggested for those who have a hard time with uneven ground. Lots of down trees, random boards thrown down to walk over swampy areas (they are not secure), and areas of extremely tall weeds that you have to walk through. BUT, if you venture down the trail it is absolutely worth it! The waterfall is beautiful and even though it’s a rough walk, it’s beautiful as well.
Samantha T — Google review
Quite an adventure to get to these falls. Much of the road is single track with some rough and water covered areas. Definitely need a vehicle with high clearance and preferably 4-wheel or all wheel drive. Roads signs are missing but we used Google maps with no problem— download before heading out as there is no cell service. The trailhead is not marked, it’s just a wide place in the road. About 50 feet in is a sign for Rock River Canyon. The trail is quite narrow in places, wet. And need to climb over some downed trees, cross some boards over wetter areas. The falls are quite lovely, peaceful, once you get there. If you love adventure, this is your hike!
Susan A — Google review
Beautiful waterfall. Horrible road, many big holes, must have high clearance over road. 30 minute hike, very pretty with ferns and wildflowers. Flies and mosquitos everwhere. Did this trip in June, and would not do again anytime bugs might be a problem.
Nathanael S — Google review
Warning, the road sign that id's it as Forest Road 2276 is currently knocked over and laying the tall grass next to the road (thanks to mama cow on the heads up on that). Hiked to this the week of June 23rd. Had to stop once to move a tree. Another tree was in the way and too heavy to move, but we drove as far to the right as we could and cleared it no problem with our SUV. Might not be a road to take your Pruis on. It's a bumpy ride, but what to you expect from an old logging trail? If it's been raining, it'll be wet in spots. Expect to get wet, even with boards laid down in these spots. Worth the effort, it was just the 3 of us and the millions of mosquitoes and flys.
Cory S — Google review
Don't follow Google maps directions. We ended up in some very tight spots with no options for turning around or backing out. Never did locate the actual falls. After experiencing swamps, washouts, and rock slides for a couple of hours finding our way back out, we gave up on finding the falls.

Gorge Falls is a stunning destination that offers an easy hike through the woods, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. Although some main overlook areas were closed during a recent visit on June 25, 2023, you can still catch glimpses of the falls from certain points. The area features several overlooks and stairs leading to breathtaking views of both Gorge Falls and its nearby counterpart, Potawatomi Falls.
I think Gorge Falls was my favorite on the Black River National Scenic Byway. It's a striking Falls and there are lots of stairs here with several overlooks, look for the one with the "gorge" sign for a view of the falls and down the Gorge. Easy walk from either parking lot.

Stairs were closed but easy walk and very interesting backwater.

Beautiful place to visit. A relatively short walk to see the waterfall. And you can see the Pitawatomi Falls in the same short walk

These Falls and its " sister" falls Potawatomi are beautiful!!! Easy walks but there are some stairs.

We visited June 25, 2023 and two of the main overlook areas were closed for major repairs. We did not go past the closure signs, do so at your own risk. You can still see some of the falls but will miss the main viewing area. Go to nearby Rainbow Falls for a spectacular waterfall view!

Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness is a pristine and untamed area within the Ottawa National Forest, offering an unparalleled natural experience. It boasts captivating waterfalls, exhilarating rapids, and ancient forests that stretch for miles, making it a top choice for those seeking an off-the-grid adventure. The wilderness is renowned for its picturesque hiking trails and serves as an ideal rest stop to immerse oneself in the breathtaking beauty of nature.
This wilderness area is truly one of the last untouched areas of the U.P, if you want to get away from tourists and enjoy some hardcore hiking, backpacking, camping, etc. this is the place to do it. It also has ATV trails and connects to the nearby Baraga Plains ATV trail system. The Sturgeon River Falls Trailhead is a favorite!

Nestled within the stunning Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the Tahquamenon Falls Brewery & Pub offers a unique blend of rustic charm and scenic beauty. As Michigan's only brewery located in a state park, it has been delighting visitors since 1996 with its selection of craft beers like Black Bear Stout and Porcupine Pale Ale.
Great beer and fish fries in a great location! My husband and I went there after a long hike around the fall and it felt so rewarding to have their beer and food. Not just because we did hike but their quality is really good. They had salmon fries as their special menu on the day we went by $20. We ordered it and it served enough for two haha The food came pretty quickly too after the beer. I'd love to come back just to have their savory fish fries and beer! So good.

Great place to eat before or after your hike to the falls. Great selection of beer, although the drafts tasted a bit watered down ( i ordered a black bear stout). The service was excellent, our waitress Stacey ,was kind, attentive, and very diligent with multiple tables not just mine.(Thank you Stacey!) Enjoyable for both adults and kids, plenty of seating and a warm atmosphere. The price is unexpectedly high for what would otherwise be a regular meal. A simple burger is $20, if you upgrade to their fries. Kids meals start at $12-$16, and their steaks and entrees are in the $30 range, so expect a $80-$100 meal for 4 people including drinks (drafts are $7). Taste wise it is excellent, you know what you're getting. It is a great tourist area so if you're planning a vacation, definitely come on in for a good drink and a quick bite.

We stopped in here for some dinner during our motorcycle ride. We didn't have to wait long to be seated or to place our orders. The food came pretty quick and was tasty. We ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue bites which were amazing and I ordered a BBQ Chicken sandwich with fries, it was pretty tasty.

We hiked the falls and came here to enjoy a beverage after grabbing a bite from the food truck. It was so impressive to have a brewery at a state park. Cool backstory to why that is possible. The bartender was attentive and friendly (and cute). The drinks were good and we sat right away at the bar. The other patrons were friendly too.
Megan M — Google review
We had a large party of people and they were able to seat us in less than 20 minutes during a busy time. The food was very good but it was the service that was just outstanding!
Sheila Y — Google review
A busy restaurant but totally worth the wait! Lots of art decorations on the walls to look at, you can also buy some of them. Great draft beer. I had the spinach ravioli which were super delicious, like at an expensive Italian place. Hubby loved the steak which comes with caramelized onions and a house salad. All the staff are hard working and welcoming.
JitkaKac — Google review
We stopped in here after walking the Falls Trails and the gift shop. The outdoor area looked very inviting but it was to windy and chilly yet to sit out there. We went in and did not feel welcome at all. No one else was there and we had to wait to be seated. The hostess seemed to not know what she was doing. We felt we were imposing. But we placed an order and were wonderfully surprised at the quality, taste and presentation of the food! I had the Italian Hoagie and my hubs had the Pub Burger. We both loved our choices. Kudos to the chef! Excellent.
Colleen R — Google review
The convenience of eating here after visiting the falls is the only thing that would ever cause me to return after our experience in August 2025. Service was poor from the start, and though they weren't busy, there were three groups of people waiting to be seated for at least ten minutes without anyone even acknowledging us, while employees stood nearby at the bar. When a gentleman in line went and asked someone if we were ever going to be helped, he was told that her mom was on reception and would definitely seat people when she could. The woman was pleasant when she finally seated us under a massive wolf carcass (it really was beautiful, but the sentimental side of me always feels a little sad looking at animals mounted on walls). There was no soon for the wait. About ten minutes later we were finally waited on by someone who took our orders and disappeared after checking back once. I would have loved a water refill but left thirsty. We asked for one of our appetizers with the meal and one ahead of time, but both were brought out simultaneously before the meal. My daughter had the mushroom ravioli, and after three of us tried it, none of us would recommend it. The battered fish and chips was average, but we all agreed that the beer cheese spread (with soft pretzels) was the best thing we ordered. They add 4% to the bill when you use a credit card and their tip suggestions are based off the total including tax and the 4% surcharge, which is tacky. Tipping on a charge card surcharge? It wasn't a good experience from start to finish, and though the inside of the brewery looks pretty nice, the atmosphere is tainted by some of the staff, many of whom give off vibes like they're bothered by their patrons. Food choices in Paradise are slim, so in a pinch, stop here with low expectations and you may be ok with the outcome.

Nature & Parks
Alger Falls is a picturesque waterfall located near Munising, Michigan. In the winter, the falls transform into a natural playground, with some turning into ice caves or curtains that are perfect for exploration. The most famous of these is The Curtains, which is easily accessible from town. Additionally, visitors can also explore Eben Ice Caves in the area. During the summer months, Alger Falls offers a beautiful sight nestled among trees and its flow varies based on precipitation conditions.
Alger Falls is a waterfall located along highway M-28 (Michigan highway) in Alger County, Michigan near Munising at the junction with M-94. The falls consist of a series of drops, the highest of which is about 15 feet (4.6 m). The falls can be seen from the highway. The level of water coming over the falls can vary greatly depending on snow melt or rainfall.

Right on the side of the road. It’s a pullout. There is a green sign to let you know you are there. It’s quite muddy around the falls.
Greg A — Google review
It's easy to get to, a road side waterfall. It is slightly obstructed but all and all worth a stop. The road is busy so don't get got by Michigan's speedy drivers.
Makalah — Google review
Pretty, not much parking off busy & fast road. Free, you can see it without getting out of your vehicle, but if you walk up the hill you can see the top much better. Was super muddy and not a very good patch when I went in fall.
Allison M — Google review
Simple falls right along the road. Can see them from the car. Just a few places to park. Only takes a few minutes. So close to town.
Steve A — Google review
Nice stop & has a place to pull your car off the main busy road. Can view from the road or walk up closer. Small trail may be a little muddy so be prepared!

Cute little underwhelming falls that you can see from your car :)
Lisa H — Google review
It's on the side of the highway, not really any true parking for this water fall. It's hard to get a great view of it without walking through a bit of brush. Just be careful if you park on the side of the highway because of course everyone feels entitled to go 85 mph and cares not at all if someone is walking on the edge of a road. Michigan has some of the worst drivers I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

Ocqueoc Falls, the largest waterfall in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, is a hidden gem south of the Mackinac Bridge. It offers a stunning yet lesser-known spot for nature enthusiasts to unwind with family and friends. Accessible via a convenient walkway, the falls can also be used as a swimming area. The accompanying campground allows visitors to extend their stay.
Easy access from the parking lot and nice swimming area. I was surprised no one was getting injured because the rocks are so slippery, and hard to walk on and many people trying to navigate them. We found a more accessible, swimming area not too much further down the path. Surprisingly, we had that entire area to ourselves.

This was a great experience. Very picturesque. Kids enjoyed the water and exploring. Easily accessible. A great way to spend a few hours.
Jim L — Google review
One of my favorite day trip spots!! The falls are easily accessed and relaxing stunning.
Dalena C — Google review
We went on a Monday after the 4th of July holiday and got there a little after 10am. Only a few other families were there. With not much to do around the area this is definitely a place you should go check out with your family (small kids should stay close even though the water isn’t that deep). No need to worry around the rocks if you see some curled up snakes, they look to be minding their own business and just Northern Water Snakes. The falls are pretty, the water is nice and when there aren’t a bunch of people there site makes for great pictures. Grab some bug spray if there isn’t any wind, walk the trails and wear some decent shoes (though I walked it in flip flops) and enjoy nature’s beauty.
T ( — Google review
I've loved Ocqueoc since I was a little kid. Being able to swim in a natural swimming hole by a waterfall is an experience like none other! I hadn't been here in over a decade, and they have really improved the park! There's picnic tables, grills, and a paved path down to the river. The river itself remains unchanged from when I was a kid, save for a very natural looking stairway cut out of the natural limestone for easier access down to the water. I had an absolutely wonderful time! You do need a state park passport to visit, but I was able to purchase one easily and it was well worth the money! I would NOT advise allowing young children to swim alone or without a life-jacket, the water is around 4 feet deep near the falls and the waterfall creates natural currents which are quite strong. As well, one should be careful on the rocks as they can be slippery from the algea as it is a natural river. Otherwise, great fun for the whole family! An absolute MUST VISIT for anyone visiting the area!
Amy W — Google review
Great place to visit and walk in the river around the falls. I recommend wearing wet shoes or flops due to some sharp rocks. There is a small area for kids to swim but otherwise not a swimming destination.

Nice little area to visit. There is no admission fee unless you don't have the State Park Passport on your license plate. It was a little busy the last time we were there, but it was still a nice place to visit. I think I took some decent photos. I got a good picture of a good sized water snake. Anyway... Have fun!

Chapel Falls is a stunning 60-foot waterfall nestled within a lush forest, accessible via a scenic 1.5-mile hiking trail that promises adventure and breathtaking views. Located in the Munising area, this gem is perfect for those looking to capture Instagram-worthy moments amidst nature's beauty. The journey begins at the same trailhead as Mosquito Falls; however, hikers should veer right to follow an easy-to-navigate path leading directly to Chapel Falls.
This is a nice walk to the falls. There is some elevation gain, but nothing extreme. If the trail is muddy or water puddles, you will get your shoes wet. There are several viewpoints once you reach the falls. You can cross the bridge and continue over to Chapel Rock, which extends your distance some. It is about 1.5 miles one way to get to the falls. It is a beautiful hike.
Donna S — Google review
Very scenic, beautiful area to hike. 1.6 miles to falls; 1.6 back out. Trail is very well maintained in all areas except one set of steps. 168 foot elevation gain in an easy ascent. A couple spots are muddy for July but not slippery and were easily side-stepped. Falls views had a little tree blockage in the field of vision. As many reviews on various platforms have stated, bug repellent is a must, and coming early is the way to go if you want to get an actual parking spot. And, can-in-the-ground no-flush toilets are at the parking area but no other facilities are on the path. There are also no benches or seats along the way. As someone who needs to be careful with temperature and humidity, the 9am temperature today was in the mid 60s with medium humidity but I never needed my neckfan. A great way to spend a morning!
Maria S — Google review
It’s a nice hike to Chapel Falls but it’s worth the hike. Make sure to not to turn back, keep going to see Chapel Rock. It’s confusing there and not marked. We then made the mistake of turning back after Chapel Rock when we could of just continued in the loop to Mosquito Falls. Also, parking is bad! Go early!

This is a great hike. Its a very easy trail, nice and wide plus only 1 short area with an incline. The falls are awesome and some areas you can stomp around in and explore. I would highly recommend this on you UP Tour. Road into falls is a bit rough, lots of pot holes and parking is crowded but we didn't encounter that many people on the hike.

Mosquito Falls and Chapel Falls via Chapel loop in Munising, Mi. Parking lot fills up by about 9:00am. The road in is rough. Start the hike going clockwise. You will hike through the woods a few miles and then it opens up to the stunning Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. About 7 miles in you can walk down to the beach. The whole hike is 11.2 miles. Definitely bring water and a snack. Take all the little out trails to the shoreline. You are hiking near cliffs so don’t bring children.
Linda O — Google review
Its a 1.4 milke hike to the falls from the Chapel basin parking lot. Its an easy trail. Path was bit muddy. Hike trail is well marked and was filled with fall colors . You can continue the trail for another 1.8 mile to view Chapel rocks,a must visit !!! Water volume was quite good. You can view falls from 3 angels / view points We visited during Oct 11th best time to enjoy the falls with fall colors! There is a restroom at the start of the trail near the parking lot.
ABHISHEK L — Google review
With the walk from the car added in, this ended up being a 8 mile loop for us. The chapel falls portion is a little longer than the other section, beautiful tree canopy on this section as well. Beach is well worth the trip. If you do the chapel falls section first, follow the trail just above the beach to find the return loop on the other side, which has a marker that says chapel parking. Great hike all around, not to be missed!
Edward M — Google review
Mostly my bad for not paying attention closer to the route but as soon as we got off the main road I wasn’t sure what we were in for. My CRV handled this rough terrain like a champ.. although there were many times I questioned if she’d make it with large holes on the dirt road. I saw a few smaller compact cars have to turn around as they weren’t able to make it. GPS might take you to the wrong area but there is decent signage when you land where the GPS brings you to keep going. We saw chapel falls and it was just over a 3 mile hike round trip. It was beautiful and the views of this powerful waterfall was worth it. We were on a time constraint so we did not get to see mosquito falls but it looked like it was a shorter hike. Bathrooms on site before the trails.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Michigan's largest state park, is a haven for nature enthusiasts seeking vast wilderness and remote lakes. The park offers opportunities to spot black bears and provides a sense of solitude in the backcountry. Divided into three main scenic areas, visitors can explore Lake of the Clouds with its stunning overlook and hike along the Escarpment Trail.
It's one of the most beautiful parks! There's so much to do & see, with lots of places to camp. I advise you to go to their website and reserve your spot as far in advance as possible because they fill up fast!

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is definitely one of the best state parks I have visited in the United States. The section I visited contained four different waterfalls that were all amazing sights to see. The suspension bridge over the most northern waterfall is wonderful. The river opens up to Lake Superior and makes for beautiful views and amazing hikes.
B A — Google review
Incredible hiking with Lake of the Clouds being the obvious highlight, I recommend parking at the small government peak parking “lot” by the main park entrance and doing the 2ish miles (mostly uphill) to the peak, best views/pics from that side, over driving to the touristy photo spot. Highly recommend going here in general, regardless of whatever trail you choose, it’s a gorgeous area, Pure Michigan!!
Arthur H — Google review
Our trip to the Porkies was planned for September 21st, 2025, for a 5-day 31 MI backpacking loop. We made Backcountry camping site reservations online ($20 per night for a site for up to 6), which took a little getting used to, but was pretty easy. Check in on a Sunday morning at the visitor center was very a good experience, a beautiful Visitor Center and a smooth process to turn a reservations into permits. We started out along m107 at the Government Peak Trailhead and walked the Escarpment Trail, a little of the Lake Superior Trail, Little Carp, river Trail, North Mirror Lake Trail, and the Government Peak trail. towards Lake of the clouds. There were several beautiful overlooks of the Lake of the clouds area where we could see the tips of the trees starting to change color and it was beautiful. The trails we chose took us along rivers with waterfalls, Lake superior, Lake of the clouds, and Mirror Lake Trails were well marked and easy to follow. There are plenty of steep up and downs, but we found those we're tiring but not that. There are large sections of Muddy marshy area so be ready, and River Crossings, so be ready to get your feet wet. Based on what we saw, the park is well kept. There are many more trails to explore, and the area around Lake Superior is quite beautiful. I highly recommended. Actually, I probably shouldn't be telling you all of this! If the park becomes more popular, reservations may be harder to get:-) do check out the website, because they do have cabins near the road and near the lake available for rent as well as cabins and Yurts in the backcountry. There are several places for swimming access to Lake Superior. Good luck and enjoy.

The lady at the visitor center was so friendly and so knowledgeable, she guided us to areas that would have the best view for us , as we weren’t walking any of the trails. This hike was phenomenal! The trail is a bit longer than the other waterfalls around, but it's worth it. The falls are beautiful and the trails let you get up closer than other trails do. One of our favorite hikes we have done in Wisconsin so far!

Absolutely beautiful! Just over 1 mile walk on a well kept trail takes you to the upper falls, then another short walk goes to the lower falls, and 1 more short walk goes to the suspension bridge. Well worth the hike!

Beautiful falls. We were pleasantly surprised to find a second water fall on our way to O Kun-de-kun falls. If you can climb down to the bottom of the falls, it’s worth it. Also, hike to bridge! P.S. if you see snow along the road, make sure you have snow shoes, skis and poles, a means of getting to the falls because there’s almost a guarantee of the path having snow still on it. Takes a lot longer than expected with a 1.3 mile hike. 🤪

Douglass Houghton Falls, located in the tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is the state's tallest waterfall with a 110-foot drop. Access to the falls is restricted due to dangerous conditions caused by loose rock and steep gorges. However, it can still be reached from Hammel Creek near Lake Lindon with caution advised. The trail starts off easy with ample parking but becomes more challenging as you approach the falls.
If you want to go down to the bottom of the falls and in the cave I would say waterproof hiking shoes are a must. The rocks and leaves make the climb slick this time of year.
Angela F — Google review
What a journey to the base of this fall. Steep cliff paths down. Beautiful creek leading to the drop. Its wild you can get so close to the edge and there's no rails or protection from falling over the cliff. Exhilarating!
Corbin B — Google review
We enjoyed this short hike to such a beautiful falls. Hike is simple with just a few slippery patches after some rain. We made it to the falls, from the car, in less than 15min. There are some steeper areas, if you choose, but someone with no hiking experience could absolutely make it back to see the falls. Great for kids!
Sherria J — Google review
The best falls! Not an easy hike down to the falls but well worth the climb. Climbing rope in the trees.
Tammy L — Google review
There is ample parking on the side of the road, and at first the trail is easy. But if you walk a little farther, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the falls. Someone (students perhaps?) was gracious enough to secure a couple of ropes to help you get to the base of the falls. We were in tennis shoes, it was raining lightly and we are seniors, so we really appreciated the ropes. There’s a cave under the falls but husband said it was too dark to see anything. Worth the hike.
Pamela H — Google review
Falls were amazing! Recommend going to the bottom at least once! Medium difficult, but there are 2 sets of prepared climbing ropes to assist the second stage of decent and to make ascent much easier.
Michael L — Google review
Even with the new renovations you can still access the bottom of the falls. I hope they keep it this way since the side with the renovations is much harder to get down than the side without
Benjamin G — Google review
Google Maps takes you to a side of a highway where you can walk into the forest and get onto the trail. You'll hear and see a stream of water. Continue walking about 0.5 miles and you end up on the top of the waterfall where the water pours down. You can take lots of pretty photos. From there, continue walking along the side and there is a down sloping area where you can scramble to get a closer photo of the entire falls. There are no guardrails and it can be slippery. Gorgeous view with the changing leaves.

Nestled along the border of Michigan and Wisconsin, Saxon Falls is a hidden gem that offers stunning views of nature's beauty. Accessible via a dirt road leading to a small parking lot, visitors can embark on a brief hike—approximately 200 yards—to reach an overlook that provides breathtaking vistas of the falls from above. The trail is well-marked with signs guiding you to various viewing areas and amenities like a portapotty for convenience.

Easy to find. There are signs pointing to the different viewing areas, trails, and boat landing. If you are going to the observe keep driving straight, pants the first pull off area, until you hit the fenced off area. There was a portapotty too. very short walk up to the viewing area. My mom (62 and 2 knee surgeries) was able to make it. Was a little slippery because it had been raining all day the day before. Just make sure to have good shoes/boots, just in case. There are trespassing signs and fence blocking off where you shouldn't go. The stairs and walkway are blocked off by the fence and cannot be accessed. We didn't do any hiking just drove our vehicles. If you take the first road (labled boat landing ) it takes you there as well as to the Dam. I will post pics of both areas.

Water falls is very pretty. Very limited viewing though. View is from high on the cliff. When driving to it do not stop at the first parking area. Continue down the hill via car. Walk is less than a minute. Very well signed.

I loved this spot! Very secluded, but nice big waterfall! Excel energy owns the property this sits on, big thank you to them for letting the public explore, please respect them and stay on the trails and catwalk provided.

Memorial Falls is a hidden gem in town, offering a short hike through a gorge to reach twin waterfalls fed by streams. The path to Tannery Falls starts near Washington St., and the hike, though steep at times, is perfect for nature lovers seeking solitude. Memorial Falls can be accessed from the same trail or from a trailhead off of Nestor St. Both falls cascade over 20-foot drops into horseshoe-shaped rock bowls.
Photos are from 2018. Apparently the trails and falls are closed now.

This was a nice little waterfall after a short hike. There are some small hills so if it is hard to walk or climb for you, you may need some assistance during the hike. It is a much smaller waterfall then others in the area but the hike was pretty cool. You have to park in a neighborhood and walk to the trail due to parking restrictions. I would recommend this hike to anyone in the area
Dan A — Google review
Awesome falls that can be seen from above and below. The trail and short bridge crossing can be a little dangerous for small kids if you don't keep them close.

Beautiful spot! Parking can be confusing and since its a residential neighborhood you may question if you're even in the right spot. Park along a side street and walk in. There's a sign at the entrance. The walk down was a little sketchy with a 2 year old who doesn't always want to hold my hand but we made it! The trail "ends" but keep walking down and around! There's a second one past it, hence why some call it twin falls. You can keep walking past the second and its a bit of a climb back to the top but you can get out that way and the trail takes you out right next to the side street where you parked. No need to go back the way you came.

This is probably the most incredible place I've even been. The hike in is beautiful.

Nestled within a serene forest, Mosquito Falls is a charming three-tiered waterfall located in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Accessible via the Chapel Loop Hike, this petite yet picturesque waterfall features two distinct drops—one reaching about 10 feet and another at 5 feet. The journey to Mosquito Falls involves a side trail that spans 0.7 miles from the main path, leading you through shaded woods where the trails are well-marked and easy to navigate.
A series of small falls, very beautiful! The hike wasn't the easiest but still fun. You can wade in the falls, which was nice after the hike! I definitely recommend coming here if you have the time.
Emma J — Google review
Get ready to do three miles the HARD way! If you're old and/or around the 5' mark, it's going to be tough. There's a lot of high steps and technical spots that you can wipe out on. If you're properly prepared, pace yourself, and keep a level head then you'll make it (and feel it the next morning)!
Chad W — Google review
Beautiful trail with lots of splash worthy stops. It took us about 45 mins from the parking lot to get there and we continued for another 45 mins to the beach.
JitkaKac — Google review
The hike is difficult if you have tender knees and/or short legs. High steep steps for part of the hike. Once you get to the falls, not the best view, not my favorite falls. Make sure you wear boots! Lots of muddy spots and slick spots along the way.
Alison W — Google review
I recently visited Mosquito Falls. If you have time for only one hike, go to Chapel Falls. A lot.of roots and washouts doesn't make this trip a ton of fun. It's 1.1 miles each way and it seems much more. Not especially interesting when you get there. Mosquito Falls is located 15 miles (24 km) east of Munising in Michigan’s Alger County in the Pictured Rock National Lakeshore. To access this waterfall, hike for about a mile on the Mosquito Beach Trail. The falls drop over a 8 foot high rock shelf on the Mosquito River. You may even be lucky enough to see a river otter or beaver playing in the stream. No pets allowed on this trail. Travel directions: From Munising go 15 miles (24 km) east on H-58, then turn north on Chapel Road for about 5 miles (8 km) till you reach the parking lot.
Greg K — Google review
Beautiful trails, nice little falls, and certainly less crowded than the more popular falls in the area. Most of the trails are in the shade as this area is heavily wooded. A few areas get a little steep, but it shouldn't be too bad for most people. Definitely come early for parking, especially on peak days/seasons. The trails are well marked and easy to follow.
Thirteendays — Google review
Cool waterfall! Went early on a Sunday morning roughly a mile hike. Lots of up and down hiking and the trail can get muddy. The parking lot also has a trail for chapel falls as well. I recommend going early we left the park around 1 and it was packed. People were having to park along the side for roughly a quarter of a mile or so. Totally worth it especially if you are trying to check the boxes of seeing waterfalls in the upper peninsula.
Zachary E — Google review
If traveling with kids, this trail is not suitable for strollers. Expect about an hour long hike with moderate pace and steep uphills. We expected falls to be a bit bigger but still worth of exploring. Very small parking space, people were parking 0.5mile away from it. For campervans a dedicated parking spot available.

Kakabika Falls is a picturesque series of cascades along the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River. The trail to the falls is short and relatively easy, making it accessible for visitors of all ages. The area offers plenty of opportunities for exploration, with waterfalls right near the parking area and various ecosystems to discover along the way. While mosquito spray is recommended, especially towards the end of the trail, the natural beauty and peaceful surroundings make it well worth a visit.
Really nice small falls. Was a mile down a dirt road with a larger turn out so plenty of parking. Was a short walk along the river. Trail does stay close to the river and there are a few spot with a few small falls. Very nice falls to walk out to late in the year, but would be a bit more hard to after it snows.
Stephanie V — Google review
Park before the broken bridge and take the path down. You'll walk down the the river and waterfalls cascade down. Pretty easy trail, could bring pets and kids.
Jessica J — Google review
Wow!!! This was an amazing waterfall area. You go down a dirt/gravel road but there is a sign then at the beginning of the trail (starts right before the bridge). Definitely one to revisit!!

Beautiful. Easy walk to falls. Mosquitoes were killers in this area. Bring the head nets
Voodoo M — Google review
Easy access, parking area was small but we were the only visitors at the time we went on 9-14-19. We enjoyed the easy hike surrounded by beautiful early fall scenery and the peaceful sound of the windy river down with small falls along the way.
Bett S — Google review
Easy hike from the parking area. There were a couple spots for my husband to fish and there are multiple drops to these falls so dont stop at the first one. Just remember that these are very small drops so there arent any breathtaking shots but there is still a lot of natural beauty
Bobbie M — Google review
Not far off the main road and even closer to the parking lot. Fairly rough terrain as it's trail is natural. Not to be confused with Canadian falls of the same name. Worth a quick stop or long stay. No facilities on site.

Manido Falls, located in Michigan's Porcupine Mountains State Park, are a stunning natural wonder despite their modest 10-foot height. Situated above the even more impressive Manabezho Falls, these falls are easily accessible from the parking lot and offer a well-maintained trail with only a few steps to navigate. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the easy hike to this picturesque spot, which is surrounded by beautiful nature and offers plenty of opportunities for memorable photographs.
Excellent and beautiful waterfall to check out when you are in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The falls are on the Presque Isle River, and the falls are quite wide with a good amount of volume flowing over the falls. You can walk out on the rocks and be directly in front of the falls. Fairly easy hike from the parking lot to get there.

Waterfall
Yellow Dog River Falls in Marquette County is a stunning waterfall with a 30-foot vertical drop and spans about 50 feet wide. It's particularly breathtaking on sunny fall afternoons. The trail to the falls is relatively easy, making it accessible year-round for hikers of all ages. While the first fall along the trail is considered the most picturesque, continuing down the road leads to Big Pup Falls, which is also worth exploring.
⚠️ WARNING: Search for "Yellow Dog River Falls Trailhead", do not try to go directly to this location. You will end up on a truck road that is blocked off right before you get to the falls. Once you find the trailhead the falls are beautiful and it's a nice short hike.
Kevin K — Google review
Short easy hike down and some pretty falls. The first fall you get to is the prettiest and the trail is the easiest to the first. You really aren't missing much other than a nice walk if you stop there. You are pretty remote when you get here and will not have cell service so have a map or your route downloaded. I would recommend also stopping at nearby Pinnacle falls. Pinnacle is a more primitive trail but only .6 miles down, rather steep coming back up so be in reasonable shape for that one.
M D — Google review
Easy hike. There are a series of 3 falls if you continue walking past the first waterfall. About 1/2 mile hike to first Waterfall. Small parking area that fits 5-6 cars next to the road. For some reason there is no sign at the parking area identifying the falls however, there is a sign several miles away where you turn down the road.
Brian ( — Google review
Yellow Dog River Falls is a very easy hike to access during all seasons! Putting this location into your GPS will take you directly here. If you continue down the road a ways, you'll find Big Pup Falls, though this place only has a sign on a tree and is down a ravine. Now, getting back on track, these falls are about a half of a mile from the parking area. If you go down a dead end path, it's likely a fishing spot. Just backtrack the short distance and get back on the main trail. You'll hear them, don't you worry! If you continue down the pathway, you'll come across 3 or 4 more. My dog was not having a 3rd walk in a cold, crisp winter evening, so we didn't see the ones past it this winter. There is always next year! If you're headed back to Marquette, be sure to plug Alder Falls into your GPS and check that one out! You may have to search for the trailhead for that one, but it too is easy to find! Happy hiking!

Absolutely horrible! Spent and hour driving out to this, its poorly marked, it's a narrow sand road. We got a mile from it and the road was washed out. Looks like it had been that way for awhile given the plant growth. Dont attempt if you dont have a 4x4. If you encounter another car, one car ends up driving backwards pretty far until there is a place to pull off for the car to pass. Couldn't get there because there was no where to park as trucks may have been able to pass.

Nestled in the stunning wilderness near Bergland, MI, Cascade Falls is a true treasure for both hikers and waterfall enthusiasts. This picturesque spot not only provides a refreshing escape into nature but also promises an unforgettable adventure for explorers of all skill levels. The trail offers flexibility with options to loop back or retrace your steps, catering to those seeking either a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike.
Trail can be walked as a loop or take the same trail back. The bluff trail is a lot harder than the valley trail, but the view from the top of the bluff is a really nice view and is worth the climb.

Little over a half mile trail to some decent falls. Lots of mushrooms. Only issue we had was that the falls were swarmed by mosquitoes.
Daniel B — Google review
Easy 1 mile hike to nice falls. Took the Bluff trail back. BEWARE! Very steep and rocky. Do not attempt if it's wet. If you can handle it, the views are amazing.
Alfred F — Google review
Easy hike in once you find the trailhead. We had limited cell service so wasn't really clear. Falls themselves are great. 4 or 5 tiers each with plunge pools. We explored for quite a while. Was a bit buggier than other spots so bring your bug spray and water shoes.

Sturgeon Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder that showcases the power of the Sturgeon River as it tumbles down a dramatic 25-foot drop into a deep basalt gorge. To reach this stunning waterfall, visitors embark on a hike of about one mile, which features mostly flat terrain before leading to a steep descent into the gorge. While there are no handrails or viewing platforms, the raw beauty of the rock formations and rushing water makes for an exhilarating experience.
Beautiful waterfall! Takes a bit of time to drive out to, but definitely worth it. The hike down is short and not very strenuous.
Rhiley A — Google review
So beautiful! The roads leading to the trailhead are dirt but well maintained. The directions online told us to come from the north off M-38, but once arriving to Prickett Dam Rd there were signs saying the road was closed prior to the trailhead. We had to drive down to M-28 and take Forest road 2200 up out of Sidnaw. It was well worth it though! The hike down is steep at times but plenty of straight paths to make it managable
Maija M — Google review
Great falls to go see. There's quite a large hill going down to them though. If you're getting older, it may not be a bad idea to bring a walking stick or something to lean on when you have to tackle it. Also during June you'll find that mosquito repellent is a good friend to have around this area. Doubly so if it's humid & seems like a rain may be in the forecast.
