Nestled in Upper Michigan near the Michigan and Wisconsin border, Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort offers a fantastic snowy vacation experience. The resort provides a range of lodging options, from luxurious condo units to ski-in, ski-out chalets, all equipped with essential amenities like cable TV and free WiFi. For skiing enthusiasts of all levels, the resort offers numerous slopes, chair lifts, rentals, and even skiing lessons to help beginners get started.
Big Powderhorn Mountain was my first UP of Michigan ski experience. I must say, it truly is lived up to its slogan, "Real memories are created Up North". In the two days of skiing the famous Lake Superior Lake Effect snowfall, we truly made some real memories. What they do well: 1) Snow! Not a snowmaking gun in site, all natural snow, great texture with both powder and groomed runs 2) Customer service! Front desk staff, lift operators, servers, we didn't run into anyone who wasn't friendly and good at their job. 3) Facilities! The chalet is a welcomed upgrade from my normal Twin Cities depilated chalets. Modern, clean, warm. 4) Lots of variety and nice vertical drop. It's vertical is a 2x to 2.5x most Midwest ski hills. 5) Views! What needs some help: 1) Around 1/3 of the mountain was closed 2) Check in for lite tickets is a little strange. Tip: Make sure to sign up on line beforehand. 3) Size. It definitely beats anything near me, but if it were to expand to the 300-400 acre range, I would venture a guest it would start to rival as the best on the Midwest. Overall, lovely place to ski!

*save time by making an account online. This will make everyone's lives easier and get you out on the mountain faster. Great ski resort. Lots of powder and no ice. Conditions were prime. The only complaint was the terrain park was closed even though the daily reports say they are both open. I mentioned it to ski patrol and they got it open but I was leaving by the time they did. The terrain park was also pretty small.

Definitely recommend checking them out! They have a variety on really nice hills and the staff are very friendly. They also have a wide selection of food, snacks, and drinks for a really reasonable price!! There is a bar as well that we did not check out. My boyfriend and I both agreed we would come back for snowboarding. If you are a first timer, I highly recommend going online and making an account; add everything required before getting in the lift ticket line, we did this and our process went very efficient for everyone. Wonderful experience all around!
Malia H — Google review
I would like to give this place a higher rating, but I can’t until their new lift ticket system bugs are worked out. First, they need higher capacity WiFi so that people can avoid lines and buy their tickets. Second, they need a faster signup process. Third and final, they need to figure out a way to draw lines for people to stand in. Look at my photo attached to see the chaos during my day trip here. I could have been on the slopes, but instead I was stuck in line.
Daniel B — Google review
Cozy lodge with several food options and windows to see out to the hill. You can carry snacks in or buy them there. Alex, the bartender up on the third floor was very sweet and welcoming. Tickets and rentals were painfully slow even on a (not at all busy) Monday morning. I can't imagine a weekend. Staff had difficulty navigating the computer systems and didn't seem to be all that knowledgeable. Listened to all of Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd plus 4 other songs while waiting for tickets. Definitely buy tickets online if you can. The guy at the rental counter couldn't have been less helpful. No eye contact, no smile, no answer to my question, just a robot. Awful and very slow experience. Prices were too high based on the quality of service at ticket and rental counters. Parking lot was in very poor condition with pot holes everywhere. Signage to tickets and rentals was unclear. Good hill, but could certainly use some sprucing up.

Excellent ski resort..our family loved it here! My grandkids were both first time 🎿 skiing and the staff here was accommodating slowing the lift as they got on and off, making sure the kids were taken care of..the place was perfect for beginners to advanced skiing. A food option was nice to have...and a gift shop for memories to take home.
Kathryn H — Google review
Visiting all three hills in the area, Powderhorn is the nicest facility. Lunch was quite a bit cheaper than the other two. Only truly ski in/out lodging in the area. Some of the runs are a little flat for me but the glade runs on the right side of the mountain were pretty fun. Will definitely be back. Would be nice if they had winter camping spots. Was nice we could ski right to the parking lot and got lucky with a front spot for the van.
Colin C — Google review
Good Skiing, they have a new Lift ticket system that uses a RFID card, that links to your Powderhorn account, requiring you to scan each time you take a lift. It is a hassle on the First day to set up, but smooth sailing after that

Ski resort
Nestled in the northern end of Upper Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula near Lac La Belle, Mount Bohemia Ski Resort is a haven for expert skiers. With deliberately designed terrain to attract skilled skiers, it offers 900 feet of vertical drop and mostly ungroomed runs, including single or double black diamond trails. The resort features four mountainside sections, with Haunted Valley and Middle Earth catering to skiers of all levels while the front runs are reserved for experienced enthusiasts.
This place is a truly one of a kind ski resort. It is by far the best place for experts to ski in the midwest! In the summer, the hiking trails make it a great destination for scenic overlooks! No review of Mt Bohemia would be complete with out a shout out to the Nordic Spa. I love relaxing in the multitude of saunas, steamrooms, and pools. So relaxing after a day of hiking or Shredding the Gnar
Ian E — Google review
This is NOT a Luxury Spa experience. Bring your own towel, or you have to BUY one from them. Bring your own bathrobe, or you wont have one. The POD experience is extra, we didnt do it. And like other reviews, be prepared that the staff lack a certain "Hospitality" mindset. That said, the actual experience is great. I felt great afterwards. And there are several different things to do several saunas, huge hot tub, cold plunge (which I highly recommend) and salt rub exfoliation.
Jesse W — Google review
This is an amazing place. The problem? The owners have no curfew for kids-the pool and spa is open to the public. People who are staying here for a quiet, restful holiday are forced to listen to screaming kids until midnight, the local teens take over the hot tub and the spa, we are paying to stay on the property and cannot get into the pool or use the facilities. It would take minimal effort to have kids out by 8-9pm, reserve parking spaces for the guests staying on the property. But the screaming kids-not cool. Do better
Julieann F — Google review
This review is for the Nordic Spa only. This place is hands-off and anti-customer service. You must order a day pass on your phone. Everything is on your phone. Everything is ala carte. I planned on staying for lunch and making a day of it, but my friends were so disgusted by the employees' attitudes and unwelcoming behavior that we called the day short. The different saunas were amazing! The Nordic Spa experience in itself--hot, cold, rest, repeat x3 is super neat and I will return this winter. Just bring friends with low expectations.
Kim S — Google review
Came here to hike the mountain in the early fall. Trails were very well marked and well maintained. Hike was a nice combination of challenging and scenic. Highly recommend it if you are a hiker, then stop by the Spa for some pizza!
Erik S — Google review
Would be 5 stars but the lack of enforcement of children being in areas they aren't supposed to be is why I'm giving this a 2 stars. What was supposed to be a relaxing experience ended with a boy around 9 dumping the bucket of ice water on me when I wasn't looking because he thought it was funny. No parents. At least 4 toddlers in swim diapers in the hot tub. People letting their toddlers scream and run around in the mist room. Maybe make this place no children under 16 after 6 p.m.
Sarah T — Google review
Scenery and staff were very nice. The Nordic Spa was amazing and pizza was excellent. Accomodations were not great. We stayed at a Trailside Cabin 7. On the 3rd night, we faced an infestation of ants that kept us up for several hours as we were killing them as they finding their way inside. They have no front desk staffed late at night, and our only contact was via email/text. I attempted contacting via email with no response. Luckily we had some insect repellent that we sprayed into the cracks we noticed them crawling through from the outside, so we were finally able to get some sleep. Contact via email finally responded the next morning and told us to talk to the gift shop attendant after it opened at noon. We did that and they sent someone in to spray our cabin. We then asked for a new cabin for our final night and they gave us cabin 9, so we moved and did not have anymore ant issues. Just FYI, cabins can have some variation. We would have stayed in cabin 7 if it were not for the ants or chemical spray inside because it had a bigger mini- refrigerator and more clothes hangers and a short clothes line on the front porch and an extra towel hanger in the bathroom than what was in cabin 9. If they can ensure that the ants are kept out and your choice for a Trailside Cabin is 7 or 9, choose #7. If it was not for the ants, the rating would have been a 4. Create some type of front desk or at least a local on-call person to help with issues and our service score would have also been better. Also they are a cashless operation, which means orders are done online or through a kiosk. While I do use my credit card quite often, being cashless for food & beverage is impersonal and can lead to security risks and can be impractical at times.
MD H — Google review
Well, we stopped here for a nice pizza dinner, nice outside seating... But.. The place is split into a restaraunts and a bar with 2 separate payment systems and menus. Cometely confusing, resulting in the poor bartender who was great having to explain the nutty ordering system. Clearly not well managed, but great staff.

Marquette Mountain Resort is a versatile facility that offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as biking and private events in the summer. It is known for being one of the most popular downhill ski destinations in the Midwest, featuring 15 trails with striking views of Lake Superior. Additionally, it serves as a hub for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, with miles of groomed trails available for enthusiasts.
Snowboarding for years and this was my first time here. Overall a great place, lift lines are reasonable, runs are fun and well maintained. The Mountain Muffin is a great sandwich. Prices are comparable to other ski hills in the area. Parking can be a task, crossing the highway is super dangerous. Most trucks and even the snowplows seemingly don't slow down at all. Van and outdoor chairs got covered in flying plow debris from over 30 feet away. Views of Lake Superior from the top. Indy Pass worked great.

We went for the cheese wheel race, first timers from out of town. The location is beautiful and the facility is very welcoming. The cheese wheel should not be missed if you're in town for this annual event!

I skied Marquette Mountain yesterday after a day at Boho. I needed the therapy and got it! This hill is one of the finest in the Midwest for views, staff and runs. I was uniquely blessed with the finest snow and silky powder I have skied in about 20 years! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The runs were a pure delight. What a cool vibe. Thank you.
Fee A — Google review
Better skiing than expected! Some of the runs were pretty steep, and several had some small cliffs and large boulders to navigate around. Some good longer trails. Beautiful views of lake Superior too. Fun, quirky vibe to the resort with a couple metal artworks around. Lots of stuff to do in the area and less than an hour from pictured rocks. Definitely worth a visit!

I love skiing here! The slopes are perfect, the views are stunning, and it’s so much fun! Everyone is so nice!

This laid-back gem of a mountain bike mecca deserves 11 stars! The downhill mountain biking has everything to get your adrenaline going. From flowy green and blue runs, to uber technical double black diamonds there is something for everyone! The staff is super chill and inviting. And there is a great little restaurant on mountain for your mid day refuel. The bartender recommended the Sesame crusted tuna stack and it was delicious, the perfect food to keep my energy the last 4 hrs. 20 laps in and I'm absolutely exhausted, but can't stop smiling. Bravo, keep up the amazing vibe!

Review: Mount Marquette – A Diamond in the Rough Mount Marquette is often described as a "diamond in the rough," and after being a season pass holder for the past three years, I couldn’t agree more. This hill has incredible potential, with a great variety of terrain and natural beauty. Unfortunately, its operations often fall short of what it could be—and should be. There are areas where the resort excels, but others where it consistently struggles. What Mount Marquette truly needs is a general manager who understands the ski industry—someone who skis the mountain regularly, engages with guests and staff, and leads by example. Here are a few major issues that need attention: Slope Preparation: Grass should be cut before the snow flies to ensure a clean snowpack. Proper grooming is essential—when it’s wet, groom at night to flatten it, and again in the morning to break up frozen corduroy for a skiable surface. Snowmaking Operations: Snowmaking should not happen during peak times, especially near lift loading zones. It's frustrating and dangerous when snow guns are blasting while guests are trying to load and unload. Additionally, the snowpack by the lifts should always be level or higher than the loading zone—this has been an issue, particularly with the triple chair, for three seasons. Lift Operations & Safety: Lift operators must understand that their top priority is guest safety. I’ve witnessed distracted operators—texting or flirting—while chairs knock over kids who have fallen, or failing to assist skiers struggling to unload. This is unacceptable and dangerous. Snowmaking Capacity: While it’s great that the resort has invested in new snow guns, either the equipment is undersized or the water pressure is inadequate. At my previous home resort, Nubs Nob, they could blanket the hill in 30+ inches overnight. Mount Marquette has more snow guns but takes over a week to achieve the same result. Something’s not right. Final Thought: If the management team—especially the GM—were regularly skiing the hill in different gear (to go unnoticed), they’d get a much clearer picture of what's working and what's not. First-hand experience would drive the improvements this mountain so badly needs. Mount Marquette has everything it needs to be an outstanding resort. With better leadership and attention to detail, it could finally live up to its potential.

First time here in March of 2023 and super impressed. Really enjoyed skiing at this site. Nice variety of runs and some ungroomed areas to enjoy. The staff was excellent as well. Visited again in March 2024. Tough season for all resorts, but this one still had plenty of skiing left. Staff was great! Hoping for more snow next year.

Ski resort
Nestled just outside Hancock, Mont Ripley Ski Area holds the title of Michigan's oldest ski destination, with a rich history dating back to 1934. Operated by Michigan Technological University since the 1940s, this charming ski hill is located in one of the snowiest towns in the Midwest. With 24 diverse trails catering to all skill levels and a vertical drop of 440 feet, Mont Ripley offers an exhilarating experience for everyone from beginners to seasoned experts.
I do not ski, but I brought my kids to the tubing hill. There was plenty of staff to monitor kids. We had tons of fun and were completely safe. Be aware! It is a bit of a trek up to the hill.
Amanda K — Google review
Mont Ripley used to be the place to go when I was younger. Now, during the prime season, they're only open until 4: 00pm on the weekends. They have lights for night riding but refuse to allow patrons to enjoy that on a Saturday? They also no longer have half day passes which only makes sense cause they are not even open a full day. It is very unfortunate to see this ski hill decline so badly. Mount Bohemia now makes more sense financially and time-wise, even living an hour plus away.
Henry H — Google review
We went on the tubing hill and had an awesome time. I would highly recommend it.
Mike F — Google review
It's a good place to ski and snowboard. Me and my friends went for first time to slearn ski and the staff there was extremely enthusiastic and eager to help and teach us. It was a wonderful experience, everyone should give it a try

I am from the southern part of Michigan (below the bridge). The snowboarding and ski hills we have down here where fun and good for training but then you go here... thus place had beautiful, long, and smooth runs. All different types of skill levels and everything. This was a very fun place for me.
Jacob S — Google review
Went snow tubing here today. It was a very fun experience. The staff was AWESOME. They were very helpful and kind. The price was also good. Overall an amazing experience.
Adam G — Google review
A great place to hang out on the slopes, we love the tubing too!! Always tons of snow, very well groomed awesome staff!
Matt D — Google review
Decent hill, but not for beginners. Runs are short and steep. I would say I’m a beginner pushing intermediate level, and the blues here are too steep for me to enjoy. Half the runs are closed right now, including the only decent-looking green. The only open greens are serviced by a difficult t-lift (which stops frequently due to people falling, then jerks violently when it starts back up), and one of these two “greens” is still pretty steep and shoots you out onto a steep blue run. The other open green run is basically a bunny hill. So I’ve spent most of the day in the lodge listening to the sometimes very explicit, uncensored songs they have playing (with on-screen lyrics) that are amusing to me but might be unappealing to families with young kids (i.e. “Get Low” - from the windows to the wall anybody?). Luckily my husband is a more confident skier so he’s been on the slopes. But my ticket was a waste of $49.

Pine Mountain Ski & Golf Resort is a laid-back destination offering simple accommodations, skiing, golfing, a restaurant, and an indoor pool. Located near Iron Mountain in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the resort has been a premier ski jump destination since the late 1930s. With a 500-foot vertical slope and two terrain parks, it's an excellent choice for snowboarding and skiing enthusiasts of all levels. The resort also boasts 35 runs with the longest one being half a mile.
We had a fantastic stay at Pine Mountain Ski and Golf Resort! The cabin accommodations were absolutely perfect, cozy, clean, and truly felt like a little home away from home. It was such a refreshing change from the typical hotel experience. A special shoutout to Leslie, our host, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Her friendly attitude and attentiveness truly made our stay memorable. It's rare to come across someone who radiates that much warmth and hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!

OVER-ALL GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! Everything is just PERFECT for a quick family trip, or romantic get-away! We felt like the first ones to ever stay in the cabins, they were SO FRESH AND CLEAN! The pool area was AWESOME. It had an order window to the on-site bar/restaurant, a sauna, large hot tub, and great storage wall for your extra stuff! The employees were all so friendly and helpful, as well!

What an incredible experience from start to finish! The resort was everything we hoped for — beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming — but what truly made our stay unforgettable was the outstanding customer service, especially from Leslie. From the moment we called to make our reservation, Leslie was kind, professional, and transparent about every detail, including fees and charges. She made the process easy and stress-free. But what really stood out was her kindness toward my mother — she went above and beyond to make sure she didn’t have to go out in the rain, ensuring she was taken care of with such compassion and care. Leslie was an absolute gem and truly set the tone for the entire stay. Because of her and the amazing overall experience, we will absolutely be returning. Highly, highly recommend! We also LOVED hiking the 500 memorial steps! We did that many times! What a good workout and AMAZING view!

I went to use the pool for the day and I'm actually going to buy a pass for the year because I had such a pleasant experience and the woman at the counter was so wonderful and positive and upbeat I loved the experience. The hotel was very clean and I would definitely stay there as a guest!
Tera L — Google review
I must say that this resort is overpriced and has seen better days. Bathrooms are super small and do not have a fan, a lot of noise comes from the halls. They are very understaffed, both at the front desk and at the restaurant as well. We got $40 credit for food which was enough for a 2 person breakfast. But we waited almost 30 minutes for the food while almost no other guests were in there. This place has some history and might be convenient for skiers in the winter but I would choose at a different hotel just for a one night stay.
JitkaKac — Google review
I was not impressed. Staff was nice, there was a bar to eat at, a pool, but we didn’t go to either. The room was okay, but the beds are rock hard and tiny. They were also very tall and hard to get in and out of. Our children were with and our toddler fell off twice onto the hard floor. Don’t recommend having kids with. The bathroom was more updated than the actual room but the tub floor was gross. The whole room needed a lot of upgrading. Didn’t sleep much at all. Wouldn’t come back.
Micaela P — Google review
To start off, the place is really pretty and service was okay another than the long food wait. The rooms on the another hand, is not. Dirty bathroom floor, door, toilet, etc. Rooms were okay another then the blinds that can’t even stay shut. Kitchen drawer had a dead bug laid in it. Dishwasher didn’t work. Overall, don’t stay here, cleaning sucks.

Pine Mountain Lodge is a fairly old place, though it's in good repair. We took a "two-bedroom suite" and got that and no more. The bedrooms were small and there was exactly one (uncomfortable) chair in total. The restaurant was OK, but the service was slow.

Nestled along the stunning shores of Lake Superior, the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area has been a beloved destination since 1941. This charming ski area is part of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park and is managed by a local community college program that provides hands-on experience in ski hill management. With a vertical drop of 670 feet served by one triple chair lift and two tow lifts, skiers can enjoy 20 runs primarily designed for intermediate and advanced enthusiasts.
God I love this place. One of the best views in the world to ski. And in the fall, the trees' colors are like a dream.
Paul V — Google review
The place is a bargain. The views are magnificent. However, there are a lot of flat areas, and getting over to half the mountain is a pain. My son was skiing down a blue in the center of the hill, he crashed and should not have because he was not doing anything crazy. I had him set up for beginner since he is a green/blue skier, and his bindings did not release. I was just happy he didn't break a bone or get seriously hurt. The rental ski snapped at the tip (he did not run into anything and only weighs 60lbs), and I believe it was broken when we got the rental but we just didn't know it. I had to pay for a ski replacement even though their equipment failure endangered my child. It's their policy, but yikes - the binding didn't release. "It passed their tests" - I just paid it because they had what appeared to be the freaking sheriff right there - talk about intimidation. Also, I rented and later realized they set me up longer on my skis than I have ever had by quite a bit (I ski several times a year and always rent). My dad had the same thing with too long of skis and accidentally crossed his skis since no one uses skis that long and crashed and broke his thumb. I just don't think they know what they're doing in the rental shop. I will NEVER return, and I would not recommend anyone rent here.

Spent two days here and loved every second on the slopes! Not overpriced like so many other spots. Staff is incredible! Will definitely head back soon.
Dustin M — Google review
Small ski area that packs a big punch. There's only 1 chair lift but its a triple and its all you need to explore the wealth of terrain available. One of the few resorts in the midwest where you can spend more time on the slopes then on the lift. I was most impressed by the glade skiing and other small offshoots on the main terrain. Lodge is small but there's a lot of places to sit. ordering food was pretty hectic and time consuming but it was on a pow day and probably the busiest its been all year so I won't knock them.

Although winter did not cooperate this year, my son and I love skiing here. It is way more affordable than the big ski resorts and less crowded too. The poutine was great. We're looking forward to next year and hoping for lots of snow!

Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, Norway Mountain Ski Resort is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable skiing experience. Whether you're a beginner or more seasoned skier, this resort offers fantastic runs with minimal wait times during weekdays. The friendly staff, particularly Dustin at the ski shop, goes above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need for a safe and enjoyable day on the slopes.
Great to see this place back open. The restaurant upstairs is the nicest part of the building and has good food. Some of the better food offered on hill that I have found. The downstairs food is more grab and go. Plenty of room to relax between runs. The hill is a quick drive from Green Bay. The staff was great. I love that they are on Indy Pass. Pretty good conditions even though we had next to no snow this year.

We had so much fun here!! (Couple in our late 20s - fairly beginner skiers). Great runs and no lines during the week!! Dustin at the ski shop is a true gem of the resort!! He is soo knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming!! He was so happy to be “helping make lifelong skiers” by adjusting our skis and getting us out on the hill safely! He really helped us with our gear!! *tips appreciated for Dustin!! He deserves it!* If you don’t want to use your own gear, they have the most beautiful!!!!! shiny NEW rental skis/boots!!! Prices here are great too for rentals and $30 lift tickets on Thursdays!!! They were punctual on the lift close time, which I understand!! And did give us a heads up on our last run. Because of the amazing above and beyond experience and service we had here, we plan on making another trip out soon!!

Family, friends and I had a blast this Saturday! We all skied this hill the year it first opened as Briar Mountain long ago and could not be more excited that it has been brought back to life! Food, drink and staff were all awesome! Hill and grooming was great and things will only get better once the last few runs are open. Kudos for your snow making abilities based on this crappy snow year and Pine Mountain, watch out! 🙂 But still love you too. Hopefully a multi-hill pass can get worked out! Thank you to everyone involved for getting this hill and great restaurant open again!

Family of 5 had a great time. Drove 2.5 hours and stayed in Iron Mountain. No lines; great grooming. We are intermediate level skiers so this was perfect for us. Black diamonds where not open yet but snow conditions across the area haven't been great. Even so, we had a great time.
Rachell H — Google review
Vintage place here, pretty dated but mostly functional. All open runs were well groomed. Its a shame the third lift is not operational as the black runs on that end were the best of the lot - just some work to access. The 500 ft vert claim is a stretch- ski tracks says around 300. It’s still a fun place for a few runs and glad they are back open.
PD W — Google review
Very nice mountain but they have no half day passes and they closed 20 minutes early… with no warning that it was our last run. Other than that it was very nice and the people were super nice
Linnea L — Google review
Loved it! Nice hill, good grooming. Lodge reminded me of the Porkies. All runs are fun. Can't wait to come back next year. Way better than Pine Mountain. It would be nice if they thinned out the trees to make more glades.

My buddy and I drove up on a whim from Milwaukee chasing snow late in the season. What a great place, easy drive, cheap overnight stay in Iron Mtn and the resort was a blast. We were lucky to have had fresh powder and the runs were not groomed giving it a welcomed off-piste feel. Staff were some of the nicest I’ve met in the Midwest and the restaurant/bar on the top floor of the chalet was affordable and delicious. This is an unpretentious place where you will feel welcomed. Can’t wait to visit next season.

Boyne Mountain is a popular resort for skiing and snowboarding, offering a variety of skill levels for all visitors. The staff members are highly praised for their excellent service and friendliness, making guests feel special. The resort provides ski-in/ski-out units close to the runs on all sides, creating a fun atmosphere. While enjoying the slopes, visitors can also take in the surprisingly beautiful views from the peak and explore scenic paths around the mountain.
Surprisingly beautiful views, seems much taller at the peak than from the ground. There is also a scenic path that goes around the edge of the mountain, and the SkyBridge that has amazing views.

First time snowboarding and what an experience! The lessons we took were informative we only had time for 1 and I suggest taking at least 2. Half the battle for me was getting as much physical activity lol. The staff were nice and friendly. Overall great experience. Will definitely be coming back here again!

My mom and I drove 2 hours to stay at the the resort. We knew it was going to snow today so we were excited to hit Boyne on our yearly spring-break ski outing. Unfortunately, the snow is so sticky today and I went back up to the ticket window to speak with Rachel in hopes to trade in our lift ticket for the next day. She was great! She couldn't trade it without potentially getting in trouble. But worked her charm and left me walking away feeling special. The team members at boyne are what make it a great destination. And it shined with Rachel's care for a single guest's happiness. Thanks darlin

Enjoyed the variety of skill leveled hills. Loved that the green hills had fun blue level stuff right there to play on while catering to beginners. Great place to learn. The staff is awesome. Didn't find a chalet with fireplace to warm up... did not look to hard as we went on a warm day. They did have little gas fire pits people appeared to enjoy. Ski in/out units very close to runs on all sides looked very fun! Rentals were great. Fun place for the midwest area. Not too small or big. Decently priced. Apparently during normal operations the adventure area offers groomer rides! Was really cool to watch 5 at a time, side by side groom uphill midday. That said ...the hills were nicely groomed.

Nubs Nob Ski Resort in the Michigan Lower Peninsula is a popular destination for skiers, offering a variety of downhill runs, a terrain park, and a cozy day lodge. The resort is known for its well-groomed slopes and excellent customer service provided by friendly and genuine staff. Visitors praise the family-friendly atmosphere and the abundance of runs to choose from. Additionally, Nubs Nob boasts great snowmaking capabilities and plans to install a new lift in the upcoming season.
A Fantastic Family Ski Experience at Nubs Nob! We took a day trip to Nubs Nob on Saturday, March 8, and it was an experience we won’t forget! It was my 8-year-old daughter’s very first time on skis, and for me, it had been a whopping 23 years since I last hit the slopes. Let me tell you—skiing is not like riding a bike after that long! I quickly realized that not everyone is a master at being self-taught, so we decided to book lessons. My daughter’s instructor was Justin and I was paired with Joe. Both were absolute professionals, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Thanks to her instructor, my daughter loved skiing and is already asking when we can go again. And Joe? He is hands down the most patient man on earth—he dealt with me constantly falling but never stopped encouraging me. Beyond the great instruction, the entire resort staff was incredible. It felt like a real community—people knew us by name, and there was always someone around willing to help. Ben, JD, Kitty, and Owen stood out as particularly kind and helpful, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a top-notch family-friendly ski resort, I highly recommend Nubs Nob. And if you need lessons, ask for Justin or Joe—they’re the best! We can’t wait to go back! What a fun place. All the runs were groomed perfectly. Mid March and I found no bare spots on any of the runs. Clean facilities. Cafeteria was nice, everyone was friendly. Me and my daughter will definitely be back. Only down side that I can think of is that the lifts are old slow lifts (well maintained) but like I stated the condition of the runs makes up for it. Don't hesitate, check this place out. We visited on March 17th.

I don’t have any bad things to say about Nubs Nob. WONDERFUL, helpful staff, clean facilities, gorgeous views, and amazing snow! I did the Odyssey ski academy with Ernest and had the most wonderful experience. It was my first time ever to ski and I think every one should learn here. After my first lesson I was about to go on several green slopes with ease. 10/10! Great pricing on everything. The curly fries are a must have at the snack bar.

As always, Nub’s Nob feels like the best value skiing in Michigan. It’s a 3 hour drive for me and I always recommend this place. It has so many solid blue runs that allow skiers to hone their skills. When the glades are open, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. Make it a great day at Nub’s Nob.

Top notch, family friendly ski resort. Reasonably priced compared to the surrounding resorts. Easy online purchase system and life ticket pick up super smooth. We had lunch for $63 including drinks. Loved the refillable water bottle station inside the main lodge. Bathrooms seem newly renovated which we all appreciated. Snow was fabulous (especially during Jan 2023 when we are lacking a serious amount of snow in MI). Lots of greens and blues that you and kiddos won't get bored. Get there right at open if you can and then take lunch break early to avoid crowds. Last comment, lift ops staff verrryyyy friendly. We all had such a great ski day!

Nubs stayed open this past week of Christmas (which was nice, considering the weather was warm and rain was pretty consistent). The snow was a bit slushy. I wish they would have lowered the holiday rates for lift tickets. I know the weather is not their fault, but it's a lot to pay $100+ when the conditions are that way. We would have tried for another day if the ticket prices were lower, but it just wasn't worth it. We'll come back later in the season.

The ski area features 17 trails served by five chairlifts and seven surface lifts with a vertical drop of 500 feet.
We went on Saturday morning and it was a great time! The guys in the shop were great! They were so funny and did a great job with my friends rusty old skis! The trails were super fun and there are a ton of lifts so the line aren’t long! The setup is a little confusing but you get used to it pretty fast.

Ski Brule remains my favorite place to visit, ski and train. It feels like coming home and visiting family. From the lift operators, general staff and even the owners, are consistently the most friendly and accommodating people I've ever met. Always welcoming. I have NEVER experienced anything even close at any other ski resort. Even the drive up from the Illinois/Wisconsin line is enjoyable. My only regret is: I wished that I lived closer, so Ski Brule could be my home base. My time is generally restricted, so getting to Ski Brule doesn't happen as often as I would prefer. Even then, getting the season pass has been well worth it and highly recommended!

Their pitch is a "Family Fun Resort"; they take that seriously. Tammi was so nice on the phone, answering a plethora of questions, we just had to book a 2 night stay. Everyone we met resonated that same kindness. So nice we stayed an extra night. Price is normal, rooms (pioneer inn) we're clean with small stove with oven, kitchen sink, and had all basic dishes one needs. Full size fridge with upper freezer. Only complaint is no stopper for the tub. Will be buying season pass.

Jackson Creek Summit at Snowriver Mountain Resort is a picturesque destination offering a variety of accommodations including condos, chalets, and rooms. The resort boasts multiple dining options and is conveniently located next to the slopes with 30 runs and 9 lifts. With an average annual snowfall of over 17 feet, the resort's two mountains, Indianhead Mountain and Blackjack Mountain, provide ample terrain for skiers of all levels.
I grew up skiing at Indianhead, and was surprised to see that there was summer lodging, had a very reasonable price. So we called and spoke to a very helpful person. She had actually left for the day, but returned just to confirm our reservation. We were surprised when we arrived to see that we were the only car in the parking lot. The room was clean and perfect for our needs. We even went to the sauna and hot tub as a bonus. We would definitely come back.

Bug Infested! To start I have never written a review of a business before but I have to share because of how poorly a manager handled my overnight experience last night. When we checked in the room about 30 beetles and flies were mostly in the bathroom were present. My family didn’t want to stay there as it was 80 degrees in the room and at the time the AC wasn’t working and only 1 of 3 windows operated . They said it was the only room open and could not move us. The night time staff member who was nice got the AC running for me and vacuumed up about 10 beetles. Throughout the night I kept killing more insects and the temp didn’t decrease with the small AC unit. I had a poor nights rest and I complained to the Saturday opening manager who said it’s the U.P. and the insect problem can’t be solved. Also stated the AC units can keep the rooms at 60 degrees. That never happened overnight. I hope the owner/ownership group read this and train the management on customer service
Jason R — Google review
I have always said this is the best hill in the Upper Peninsula, but my one star review is due to the actions new ownership has taken against the community and region. Immediately, the new ownership and management blocked snowmobile trail access and refused to negotiate with the club (even through the club’s attempts to purchase land to re-establish this trail), closing a vital link of trail between the surrounding communities and greater region. In some weird twist of virtue signaling, they removed all nods to Native American culture and heritage, like ski run names and the name of the resort itself. Beyond that, lift ticket prices have become egregious, customer service has tanked, and the feel of the lodges has nearly lost its friendly warmth and charm. As a skier who has spent hundreds of days on this hill, I will now take my money elsewhere. Nice high speed chair though 🤡
Jack S — Google review
This place used to be the best place around to ski and snowboard at. Nice new management had taken over they have cut off locals from so much access to something our community has always had access too. Affordable skiing, swimming, snowmobiling. The new owners are not members of our community only greedy money hogs and I hope people from out of town decide not to come due to their inability to support locals and their community. Horrible horrible management. It is so sad for our area that used to have so much fun at the hills and for it to be cut off of them in the name of money. Greedy people. Don’t come here unless you want to get ripped off

Clean simple hotel rooms. Stayed only for one night as I had to do business in Ironwood. There was a complimentary breakfast that I did not take. I was here in the off season at this ski resort. Total cost $70/ night.

Was at a 4th festival in nearby town. They had a booth and gave out buy one get one for us to try they’re breakfast. Went there there was no host no waitresses and no menu. Looked online no prices on the menus. Waited for waitress she did not know what to do said she had to go talk to someone and never came back. Worst experience in the UP visit. How do they claim to be a world class resort? This is the 4th time we have tried to go there and it’s always closed. But they have a big sign on us 2 that said now open.

The service here is beautiful. I don't think I could have asked for better. But the rooms. The rooms directly next to the check in spot are amazing. But if they give you a Maplewood room. The Maplewood rooms are in the woods and the place is quite small. On top of this I found multiple cobwebs and crumbs as well as other stains around the place.

We stayed for the weekend. Nice place and well maintained. The golf course was beautiful but the beverages were extremely pricy. The food at the lodge was great. It got a lot more expensive for everything than it was last year. I'm handicapped(I have a TBI)so I can't walk real far and they don't offer wheel chairs, well they do but they only have 3 wheelchairs on the property. Once they are gone they are gone. I only saw 1 being used the whole time and they had no idea where the other 2 were. You have to be quick about getting one because you can't have 1 held for you. Luckily the evening before I was coming home I found 1 just sitting up by the skybridge. That's a huge place that everyone should be able to enjoy and with all the walking I did the first day and a half I didn't get to enjoy it completely. The only enjoyment was spending time with my family. You would think that they would get a large supply of wheelchairs or some sort of walking assists so everyone can enjoy all the scenery. After paying for the travel there and the room it gets even more expensive because you don't really get anything included with the room. Food costs at least $40-$70 for 2 people to eat a small meal and $8-$10 for 1 drink. The pop and water machine is at least $3. So don't go here unless you really want to spend a lot of money
Nicole B — Google review
Great experience with friends and family. Waterpark is so much fun and at night the lights go out and kids have glowsticks. The lifeguards are just kids and don't really do much and kinda look like robots doing the same footwork. It's almost like their paying more attention to their footwork than the actual kids in the pool. But the whole resort is nice and clean. We had a blast and will definitely return.

All of northern Michigan is pretty but this resort is extra special. The grounds are vast and have exquisite landscaping. Thoroughly enjoyed riding the ski lift on a crisp Fall day to experience their Skybridge. A remarkable engineering feat, the bridge is the world's longest timber-towered suspension bridge. Breathtaking and fun to walk across. Thereafter, rewarded with a food truck/bar and the best Mother Nature could offer. Additionally, resort staff everywhere were sincere in their efforts to ensure we had a great time. Hope you’re lucky enough to run into Walter (who was actually security detail) since he’s a wealth of information and clearly appreciated his surroundings! Lovely gift shops, epic Spa (separate review,) restaurants … absolutely worth visiting. Don’t wait!!

We had a fun ride on the sky lift to the top of the hill, getting a chance to see all of the colors that were around! Taking the sky bridge was fun, although it rocked back and forth. Getting a little break across the bridge, we took the opportunity for more pics of the colors and grabbed a drink. The fire pit was a nice touch on that cold day.

Our family had a fantastic stay while there for a soccer tournament. We came a day before the soccer tournaments and wished we had another day to play. This was October 10th - 12th. We enjoyed the sky bridge, along with the festivities ( pumpkin smashing, horse back rides for the kids, axe throwing, the water park). The clock tower is a bit dated, but was clean. 98% of our group was together do all had fun. Charming old place with lots of beauty all around. Check in was the only thing that annoyed us, seemed very late on that part. We did arrive early and were patient about that, plenty to do, but it almost 4:30 by the time we got room keys. The kids could finally grab swim suits for water park which is only open from 4pm to 8pm.

4 of us went up on a quick golf trip. Had really good time. Love some of the courses, really liked all of the courses. Only complaint on course conditions were some of the par 3 tee boxes not having much grass but guessing we played where most people play and lots of divots and the rocks in the bunkers, especially the green side bunkers, so quite a few pebbles on the greens. Greens rolled nice, fairways were well kept. Rooms are simple but serve the purpose. Food options were fine at both the restaurant and the bar, and at the courses. Played on weekdays so pace of play was incredible. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. Definitely plan on going back.

Rooms in the hotel where we started are a pretty dated and need a face lift, but they are fine and priced appropriately. One guy in our group had an updated room (I didn't see it tho) so maybe they are working on updates which is good to hear. Great sandwiches made to order and pretty quick. All the service people were extremely friendly. Beautiful courses and nice greens. Only complaint would be the sand traps (especially tradition) A lot of the traps have golf ball size rocks in there, I found one buried in the sand that put a large dent in my brand new wedge which was a bummer, but it is what it is, it still works. But they should really have someone go out there and sift those rocks out over a months time. It would be tedious, but it would improve the quality of those traps by leaps and bounds. Would love to see this place become a premier golf resort. I feel like it once was back in the day. It's got great bones, great location, amazing views and seemingly great grounds crew. Just needs a little more attention to details and this place would one of the top resorts in Michigan. But I think will need a Capital investment to get over that hump anytime soon. We enjoyed our stay at Treetops. We came for the 3 night, 5 round of golf ‘Stay & Play’. The golfing was spectacular. Highly enjoyed all of the courses. The golfing staff was friendly and helpful. Our lodging experience could have been a little better. Our shower didn’t have hot water. The water temperature was warm, at best. We also couldn’t find any water fountains to refill water bottles. And the rooms were not stocked with water bottles. Not sure where we were supposed to get drinking water? And lastly the tv in our room was oddly small, for how big our room was. Watching tv in the room felt like going to Michael Scott’s house for a dinner party. Those things were the big detriments to the trip, which was otherwise enjoyable.

Overall nice enough place. Friendly and accommodating. I went there to golf at an outing and they did a great job accommodating our needs. Never felt like we didn't belong or unwanted. Happy about that. I feel like they missed a huge opportunity to step things up a little. For example, I stayed at the Golf Resort portion (rooms) and the rooms were just ok. There were no hooks in the restrooms, which seems weird if you want to hang something on the back of the door. The room looked like it hadn't been updated in years. I get that it's northern Michigan, but I also know that it's rated as one of the top 100 golf courses in Michigan...and it is nice. The accommodations aren't great, but also reflect in the price.

Three days, three golf courses - the weather was beautiful for our visit and we truly enjoyed the layout of the courses we played: Premier, Tradition, and Masterpiece. Pace of play was excellent all three days, with a very slight backup on Saturday morning at the Masterpiece, but it was not a negative impact. The courses were well kept and the staff throughout our stay was courteous and welcoming. We are definitely considering a return visit and bringing friends.

We had a blast at our annual golf outing at Treetops with 20 golfers. Rooms are a little outdated at the Lodge, but good enough for a couple hours of recovery before the next day's activities. We went to Legends on the Hill for dinner and drinks. Food was pretty good... service was excellent. Krysten took care of us all 3 nights. She was friendly, fun, and quick with the refills. She is amazing and probably deserves a raise! :)
Todd — Google review
Service was a 5 because I had no issues but I didn't really interact with anyone other than the check-in desk and they were friendly. The rooms are basic but pretty big with decent sized fridges. The views are lovely though! We were put in The Inn for our conference & both sides of the building provided great views (sunset or sunrise). The food was OK, nothing to write home about (breakfast was better than the lunch, no offense). Overall, though, nice place to stay for a peaceful, quiet weekend

A Fantastic Golf Getaway at Treetops Resort Our group of 12 golfers recently stayed at Treetops Resort and had an absolutely incredible experience. We booked the chalets, which were perfect for a large group—spacious, clean, and ideally set up for both relaxing and socializing after our rounds. The golf courses were in excellent shape and lived up to the Treetops reputation—challenging, scenic, and fun across the board. But what truly made the trip memorable was the service we received, especially from our two shuttle drivers, Molly and Tom. They went above and beyond at every turn—always punctual, cheerful, and genuinely invested in making sure our group had a smooth and enjoyable time. Whether it was getting us where we needed to go, helping us with bags, or just checking in to see how we were doing, both Molly and Tom were outstanding. Molly, in particular, brought such positive energy to every interaction and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Tom was equally fantastic—kind, reliable, and always willing to lend a hand when needed. Their attention to detail and sincere hospitality didn’t go unnoticed and were a big part of what made our trip feel seamless and special. Treetops is lucky to have them, and we’re lucky we got to interact with such wonderful people. We’ll definitely be back—and highly recommend Treetops Resort to any group looking for a top-tier golf experience with exceptional service.

Refined mountain resort with multiple restaurants, 4 golf courses & a snow sports academy.
We’ve stayed at the highlands previously and the rooms were really nice! They have a grill outside we were able to use and the pool was heated for the chilly night. We love going to the highlands to ride the mountain bike park! Everyone on the lift is super nice & enjoyable. The trials are gnarly and really fun! They have everything from flowy to techy.

Everyone is super friendly. Lots of activities loved the rolling 27 hole putting green. Ice cream social with Corey our friendly server. Shuttle service is nice around the property especially Duke who went out of his way for us.
Jeff D — Google review
Bike park needs maintenance badly. Tons of sand and gravel on jump landings. Really poor quality for a high lift ticket price. Lots of potential to be great, just needs to be maintained better. Local volunteer run trail systems are in better shape…
Zach E — Google review
First and foremost, the highland condos where we stayed may be privately owned and managed by the resort. That said, they are extremely dated and poorly maintained. See pictures of the sad deck. The kitchen utensils are a mess of things that may or may not be useful if you choose to prepare a meal. Perhaps bring a couple of good knives and a cutting board. I will add that the resort has recently opened a par 3 course at the foot of the slopes behind the lodge named Doon Brae. This is where they receive 5 stars for service. It is new enough that there isn't signage for the course. Sign in is a small shack adjacent to the enormous putting course. I was directed there by a delightful young lady who made her way out of a shuttle van to walk me nearly to the sign in. The course has nice little carry bags that are free of charge; as are the green fees with your resort stay. It was the most enjoyable experience I had at the resort.

Beautiful property, nightmare staff. We brought 20 guys to Highlands last weekend, $20K+ trip all in for 4 rounds / 2 nights. Booked for 36 on Saturday, Arthur Hills AM, Heather PM. Morning rain caused a 2-hour delay. Arthur Hills staff reassured us tee times at all courses were shifting accordingly. Apparently not! Mid-round we call Heather to confirm. They smugly tell us they’re “back on schedule” and won’t accommodate the delay, basically stranding our second round. Zero flexibility. Zero empathy. Full hostility. We were forced to replay Arthur Hills (6 pm was next available tee time). Still didn’t get our full 36 in. When we asked for a refund, they said “you had unlimited golf”, hilarious considering we were there 8 am to 10 pm and got in ~30 holes. Between the dismissive attitude, poor communication, and inflexible policies, the customer service was genuinely awful. Spend your money at Treetops or Garland: better vibes, half the cost, and they might actually treat you like a human. Won’t be back. EDIT: The owner's reply contains too many inaccurate statements to refute on this review, I will have our "group leader" leave a new one :)

My husband and I and my son, his wife and our 3 grandchildren were here during memorial day weekend. Overall, the place has beautiful scenery and the service was great especially the servers in the restaurant. They were always happy to help. The breakfast was good but a bit pricey and turkey or chicken sausage options would have been nice for those who don't eat pork. For the most part the rooms were clean but very outdated. Get rid of the 1970's wallpaper, lol! I think this place would be perfect and could get more business if they catered towards young families as well and had a play area for kids, a kids pool or splash pad and not have a naked lady statue! Wheelchair or stroller accessibility is not to great here.
Gina K — Google review
My husband and I just returned from our weekend away at the Highlands and wow! The resort exceeded our expectations in every way! The rooms were beautifully decorated and so comfortable. We stayed in the main lodge and loved the pool and hot tub. The restaurant was great, we loved not having to leave the property after a long drive on friday. We had mentioned to one of the staff that it was our wedding anniversary and the next day, guest services delivered a bottle of champange for us! I participated in the mothers day soundbath and it was such an amazing experience. The highlands is getting added to our repeat vacation list! I cant wait to come back!

My favorite place to snowboard in the lower peninsula. Variety of long runs of varying pitch, lots of natural and man-made side hit action, and great views of Little Traverse Bay, Nubs Nob, and even Mackinac Bridge. The day lodge cafeteria is good value, the current iteration of Zoo Bar isn’t great. Slopeside is spendy but nice and cozy, and good food.

Big Powderhorn Lodging Association is a fantastic destination for winter sports enthusiasts, boasting an impressive average of over 200 inches of snow annually. Nestled in a picturesque setting, it offers a variety of accommodations that cater to different preferences and group sizes. Guests have shared delightful experiences during their stays, highlighting the attentive staff who are always ready to assist with any needs or concerns.
We stayed at Hillside Haus. Huge plus they cater to pets and a large family. Lots of extra touches. Amazing hiking views out the back door and all around the area. Would be great for big wheel mountain biking. Staff very accommodating. Tucked away and quiet in the early fall off season for a GREAT price.

We had an amazing 3-day stay at this cozy A-frame cabin, and it exceeded every expectation. It was spotless and incredibly well-equipped—everything felt thoughtfully prepared for a comfortable and stress-free stay. The cabin gave off the most welcoming, nostalgic vibes with a fun collection of old VHS movies, classic board games, and a layout that just felt homey and peaceful. As a small family with two kids, we loved how family-friendly and relaxed the space was. It had that perfect balance of comfort and charm, making it easy to unplug and just enjoy time together. The location couldn’t have been more perfect—close to all the waterfall hikes and adventures we had planned, yet tucked away enough to feel like a real escape. You can tell the hosts put love and care into this place. We’re already talking about coming back! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, charming, and cozy getaway with great access to the outdoors.

There's no place we'd rather stay when coming to the area than the Big Powderhorn Lodging Association. The online reservation system is easy to use, the communications are great, the folks in the office are OUTSTANDING, and the accommodations are perfect. We were running late due to a snowstorm, so we called the office. They said, "no problem, we'll get the heat turned up, and the lights turned on, so it's ready when you arrive." It was so welcoming after a difficult drive, to have our cabin all set for our family. They delivered more firewood to us during our stay, and plowed-out the driveway. Our cabin was nicely maintained, clean, and well-stocked. There's no reason to go to VRBO, where the property-owner may be hours away, when there is a friendly team at BPLA ready to make your stay enjoyable. I can't recommend them enough!

This is the second summer running now that we've stayed at Powderhorn for over a week (once at Snowflake and lately at Celtic Haus) and we've had nothing but a positive experience. If there are issues with the house, or if we need anything, a phone call gets someone on the case. The staff have been pleasant to work with and very helpful - we can definitely say we'll be staying at Powderhorn a third summer if possible! It's a great location, and the perfect place for us to stay when we get back to the area.

Tealwood was in a great location - tucked into the woods so nice and shady for our summer vacation. Only one AC unit and that is upstairs but worked fine since the bedrooms we used were downstairs. Very clean, very comfortable and everything worked - really enjoyed our stay. Only thing it might need is a washer/dryer for longer stays. Thanks!

Just got back from a three night, guys snowmobile trip at Porcupine Lodge. Accommodations were perfect for what we needed. The lodge is close to the Konteka (gas, food, bar) and the snowmobile trail. Owner was very responsive, the unit was clean and a advertised. A great place to relax after a day on the trail. Thank you!

We really liked staying here for our romantic ten year anniversary. The staff was here to help us when we were looking for the fuse box and they were very friendly. It would have been nice to have them plug in the fridge and turn on the water heater breaker for us before we arrived so that we didn't have to do it ourselves. The rooms were mostly clean, but there was some dirt and hair around when we arrived. We really appreciated what we got for our money though! It was pretty quiet. You could only hear people moving around upstairs a little bit and water moving through the plumbing. We had four full-size beds, a full kitchen, a good size living room, and a nice little bathroom with a washer and dryer. The parking was very convenient. We'd like to stay here again if we're in the area.

Perfect for a trip with the family, friends, spouse, etc. - I would definitely recommend staying at the Porcupine Lodge! The owners are extremely friendly and the rooms are fully equipped like an apartment, which is great if you'd like to make your own dinner, do laundry, etc. Also, there are a variety of nearby activities (i.e. parks, snowmobiling, hiking, etc) and local restaurants (if you'd like to dine out). Check it out next time you're in the UP!

I would suggest condemning the building rather than putting anyone else in it. The building is full of mold, Exposed wiring, filthy walls and appliances, paneling coming off the walls, carpeting over rotted and haphazardly patched wood, leaky roof, ceiling bowed in, fire extinguisher has no certificate and the Guage is in the red and the cable doesn't work.

Only 20 minutes from the mountains and is one of the more cheaper places. It is a little run down but very clean and very homey! The owners are super nice and responded timely to all my requests and helped make my stay better.

We've stayed there in 08 and 12. Nice place to stay and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Konteka bar/bowling alley/restaurant/gas station/mini store/ bear feeding trough is pretty cool and the Porkies are phenomenal. We'd recommend it.

CedarHurst Lodge is the perfect retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nestled in a serene location, it offers a cozy lodge atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time, complete with a grand fireplace ideal for social gatherings. The great room serves as an inviting space to connect with friends and family, while outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy cross-country skiing or take advantage of the wood-burning sauna by the dock.
My family and I spent time in the early 1950's at this beautiful lodge, owned at the time, by Martin Granholm. The pictures shown in these reviews show the lodge just as I remembered .

We just spent the weekend there for a nearby wedding. What a great location and wonderful lodge feel. The great room was fantastic for socializing. The overall lodge is beautiful and the large fireplace makes you think of days past. The wood burning sauna at the dock was a real treat too. Some of is braver souls dove in after heating up while others dipped their legs off the dock. If you’re thinking of someplace to get away from the hustle of daily life, come here. You won’t regret it.

Awesome stay, we plan to come again! The great room is perfect for multiple families hanging out, as it's huge. This cabin is on a lake, and at the boat dock is an old school sauna where you feed firewood in the back of it. It was Fall weather, so we overheated in it, then took a plunge in the lake....exhilarating! We're not big fishermen but still caught some bass. We'll visit again when it's a different season, will be a different experience.
Scott M — Google review
We recently found this place around Christmastime when we were visiting family and needed a place to stay due to COVID. We found CedarHurst and loved our stay with a small part of my family. We loved it so much that we just came up again with my wife's family (all vaccinated). CONS to know when booking: - The beds are camp beds so you will not sleep like you would in a 4 star hotel (that's not why you're staying here anyway). Couches are camp couches, so keep that in mind. - It's a rustic lodge, so there will be possible mice (we've seen a couple in our stays) etc, but you're in the woods in the UP, so nothing was unexpected. - Some things are clearly dated; the sauna included. - A bit pricey for the UP (but it's so big that you just get several families to go and split the cost). PROS to know when booking (5 star review is because the pros FAR outweigh the cons): - Lodge is right on the water; summer activities, ice fish in the winter, etc. -The lodge is gorgeous and it's easy to get lost in it's splendor. We like to set the sirius radio to 40's music, build a fire, and zone out playing cards or building puzzles after our long day outside. -Lots of trails for skiing, snowshoeing/hiking, sledding...when we stayed last weekend my wife and I went on a snowshoe date and went to find Pogy's Camp. -20-25 minute drive from Ishpeming, about 10 mins from Koski Korners (gas station with odds and ends should you need anything basic). -Some nice amenities; charcoal grill, fireplace, etc. We brought charcoal (they had some there for us) but we fired up the grill and made some steaks. Meal time is really special when a large group can all sit at the table together. I want to be clear...this 5 star review is well deserved, and the pros far outweigh the cons. It's a special stay, but a big place, so make sure you bring family or friends!
Lauri M — Google review
Very nice amenities, clean and comfortable. Remote enough to feel like you are getting away from it all, but close enough to Ishpeming and Marquette for convenience. Three bedrooms and a loft, two bathrooms and showers, and an outhouse if you are feeling adventurous. There are books and games or wifi if the weather keeps you inside from the lake and river.
