I always love the food here and the outdoor patio! My group of friends goes here every year after Pride. We loved our server and had such a great time!

Excellent variety of 🌮 for reasonable prices. The chicken rojo was my favorite. The sauce the tender chicken it was a well balanced bite. The brisket was my second favorite packed with juicy beef and the house made sauce gave it a nice kick. The drinks were well balanced and delightful. I came back since my first experience and everything was as good as the first time..
BRANDI B — Google review
This is a really cool spot! I came here for the 1st time due to craving Mexican food. I ordered the ceviche as well as the quesadilla. My partner ordered the burrito. The serves was very friendly and efficient for being the only server. It took a little bit of time for the food to arrive as it appears the server was the only person working. (we arrived on a Friday evening so it was sort of busy, not hectic but definitely required more than one server to be efficient). When the food arrived it was very good. The ceviche was amazing as well as the quesadilla. My partner loved his burrito as well. The atmosphere is super cute and there’s tons of seating throughout. I would probably return as I had a pleasant experience. I think one important thing to note is the service is very slow.
Shalon J — Google review
I’m so conflicted about this place because unfortunately the service was so slow & exhausting that it took away from the whole experience. The food was surprisingly good, a little on the expensive side but at least it was tasty. Another downside is they do not have any good whiskey, but they do have a huge selection of tequila. Unfortunately my friends & I won’t be back, so sad.
Karina H — Google review
We went for happy hour on a rainy afternoon and our mood instantly brightened when we bit into the yummy empanadas with poblano sauce on the side. Margaritas were cold and tangy for $6. Queso and chips were good too. Very friendly service. We’ll be back to sit on the cute patio next time.
Christol S — Google review
Sooo was looking super forward to our meals because our appetizer was delicious 😋, but sadly both of our entrees we're disappointing. The flavor of the shrimp was not what it expected n tasted undercooked. Than my boyfriends steak bowl had like zero steak.. n it was dry even after adding sour cream n hot sauce... Vibe n atmosphere was okayyy. Service was excellent 👌 n quick.
Mariah M — Google review
The Tres Leches is a must try! It was perfectly soaked, moist without being soggy, with just the right balance of the three milks sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and heavy cream.
Avishek S — Google review
The food is SO GOOD! I love coming by during happy hour for great pieces on delicious tacos and the margaritas are a nice side. Chicken rojo and fish are my favorites. I have tacos every time, so can't speak to the other dishes, but I can't imagine them being any different.

Nestled in the vibrant Central Avenue Cultural District, Maya Cuisine is a delightful Mexican restaurant and bar that captures the essence of traditional home cooking. This family-run gem features a lively atmosphere with colorful booths leading to a cozy lounge area perfect for enjoying margaritas alongside freshly steamed tamales. The menu is thoughtfully designed, allowing diners to customize their meals with options like tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos, complemented by delicious toppings and sides such as elotes.
First of all, I got ID’d when ordering a beer to enjoy my tacos the way God intended. So, thank you for that; I take it as a compliment 😁. Then, friendly staff addressed me as “Jefa” (boss). Thanks for that as well . You guys made my day. The food was delicious. The customer service was excellent. I definitely recommend.

Another first time option and we’re happy we tried it. We stopped in with a good sized group on a Saturday evening and were seated in less than 5 minutes. The atmosphere is great, including a couple bars and an easy access take out area. The staff were awesome, very friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. If you’re a good, authentic Mexican food, do yourself a favor and stop in to Maya Cuisine!
Brian O — Google review
Ate here for a late lunch on a Saturday. No line when we got there. Got grilled chicken chimichangas, the chicken was cooked in front of us and the burritos deep fried right away. They were amazingly delicious. The queso and chips were yummy as well. Plenty of seating and a quiet and calm atmosphere inside. Parking was tricky, the street was mostly full and there is no dedicated parking lot. After circling the block a few times we found a spot.
Rebekah M — Google review
This is now on my lunch rotation as a solid option for good food that is quick and affordable. The chorizo was fantastic, the tinga de pollo was spicy and good. The hot salsa is actually hot and has good flavor. The toppings were fresh looking/tasting. Maybe I was just really hungry or the food was pretty dang good, most likely both. Prices are reasonable, the food is fresh, and the wait is short. What more can you ask for? Not much really. There isn't table service for lunch but I'm not bothered by that one bit. Keep up the good work because I want to keep coming back to try everything I can on the menu, not just the lunch special. See ya soon, my new favorite hole in the wall Mexican restaurant
Levi — Google review
Excellent food, and even better service! The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a slight delay in our food as they had to remake one of the dishes, and even though we didn't mind the wait, they covered our drinks! Can highly recommend for a dining in or a quick bite to eat.
Calvin H — Google review
The wait for our cocktails and appetizers were long but the food was excellent! Wish they still had the whole fried fish on the menu

This place deserves an 8 out of 5 stars. Holy crap. If you haven’t been here YOURE MISSING OUT. Literally every item on the plate was among the best I ever had. The carne asade is to die for. Chips have a hint of lime that tastes real and amazing. And you can get a fully loaded burrito for $9 like it’s 2015. RUN TO THIS PLACE

*** Each person has a different experience/taste *** There are two different menus. The Line Menu is for the front area which looks like serve yourself. The table menu is for the back area that has servers (I guess they only have it from 3pm - 9pm). We were confused when we first came. We wanted to try the table menu, so we asked their staff where to go. They told us to go to the back area where there is a bar counter to be served the table menu. The table menu has more options for spicy food, but not as many dishes as other Mexican Restaurants. We had 1 Enchiladas Rancheras with Ground Beef, 1 Tacos with Steak, Marinated Pork w/ Pineapple, and Ground Beef. The taste is not bad.

Oaxacan restaurant
Colita is a modern Mexican restaurant that offers a fusion of Tex-Oaxacan cuisine, featuring housemade moles, international BBQ dishes, and creative cocktails. The restaurant's ambiance is reminiscent of El Cielo in Medellin, with lush greenery and dramatic lighting creating an inviting atmosphere. The menu showcases beautifully plated dishes that capture the diverse flavors of Mexico, such as corn elote with chipotle mayo and Kansas City ribs with tamarind.
Sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being served by Q. He was excellent with his knowledge of the menu items and recommended an amazing selection of plates. The food was fantastic and the presentation was very vibrant and inviting to the palate. The drinks were perfectly mixed and the Argentinian lager was top notch.
Vitor Y — Google review
Last night we celebrated an anniversary dinner at Colita. There was a bit of a snafu with the reservation and wait time, but the manager more than made up for it. He and the wait staff were so friendly and amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed yet buzzing. Impressive they were able to run things so efficiently and calmly while it was so busy. We all loved the food, it was so good! Highly recommend.

Small plates restaurant with delicious Mexican inspired dishes and a very pleasant ambiance in the outdoor patio. Probably in the top 5 best restaurants I’ve ever been to and definitely my favorite in Minnesota. My fiancée is celiac and I generally eat gluten free as well and this entire restaurant is 100% gf.
Daniel P — Google review
Wow! My husband (GF) and I love this place. Has been recommended by many friends and so glad we finally came. We arrived about 20 min before our reservation on a Saturday, it was packed! Plenty of street parking for free. We sat at the bar and got some drinks - me the Telenovela (amazing, I could have drank two. Definitely the mezcal smokey flavor I was hoping for). My husband got Naranjitas from the zero proof menu - amazing as well! Bartenders were awesome, equally attentive to us and knew who we were while waiting for our table to be ready. I also got the Naked Dani drink (salty foam, sweet drink with a mini duck!) and it was great! We started with the Aguachile (reco from bartenders) and both of us were salivating at how tasty. So fresh and a great starter. Also got the Smoked Caesar - liking the plate good. We are caesar snobs and this was at the top of the list. My husband ordered the Tempura Fried Shrimp Tacos (since he's GF and never gets tempura, he was super excited) and they were great - just enough of the shrimp flavor, sauce and cabbage - exactly what he was expecting. I got the pork chilorio tacos and they were so saucy, deep and yet balanced with the cucumber avo salsa. So yummy! Had to get the Elote as a side (again elote snobs) and my husband said he thinks that was the best thing he's ever eaten. We didnt take a picture of the churros - ate them too fast. Hubby loved them as well - so good with some ice cream on the side. I ordered an espresso martini with tequila (with salt on the edge) and it was perfect. Husband got a double espresso with lemon twist - he was pleased. Overall a great experience. Service stood out as a plus with our server being very attentive, on pace with us for service, cleaning up as we went. Loud, exciting environment. Probably difficult to be on a date and have a serious convo, more for fun and all about the food experience. About $200 for the two of us, with a little elote to take home.
Mrs L — Google review
Went here last night on a whim, and it was absolutely amazing. We sat at the bar and they made us amazing mocktails, we started with the tuna, tostada and yellowtail, and then moved our way to the Barbacoa tacos and bean and cheese tostada. Of course we had to finish with the churro, would not skip this part! As a person with a gluten allergy, this restaurant was amazing for both people with an allergy or not.
Kaitlyn S — Google review
Colita hits when it hits and misses when it misses. Their Mexican food is a little off the mark for the price, but the general Mexican inspired dishes are just okay. Standouts included the churros and the pork chop. The churros are delightfully crispy paired well with a salted Carmel sauce. The pork chop is one of the juiciest pieces of pork I have ever had and pairs well with the spicy sauce. For the misses, we did not like the tuna tostada, tlayuda, or pork chilorio tacos. I liked parts of their dishes, but the masa used in this restaurant is not as thick or crispy as I would like for a place that grinds their own corn. The tuna and pork are both really tasty individually, but the corn distracts. The tlayuda is basically a corn dish. I think if you’ve been to Oaxaca, this food will be a bit disappointing on the Mexican front. The drinks are super fun though! A bubbly duck drink! Couldn’t imagine a more creative drink.
Jill O — Google review
Loved sitting on the outside patio. Green flowing plants all over. It was our anniversary so the bar sent over complimentary drinks. The chicken Tinga was my favorite. Spicy and fresh. The shrimp taco was also very good. I was not a big fan of the guacamole. Too smooth for me. But the chips were interesting. The bar was fun to sit at. Busy, and a great bartender who tried to talk us into dining at the bar. He was funny. This is a more progressive Mexican restaurant with a younger crowd. Would dinner here again.
Laura U — Google review
A Moonlit Night at Colita I have a bit of history with Colita, and one memory still stands out vividly when I was at the bar. I remember watching the bartenders at work, shaking up drinks with such energy and style. It was one of those nights where you end up chatting with strangers and bartenders alike, and it all feels easy and connected. That moment really captured what I love about Colita — it’s not just the food, it’s the atmosphere. Fast forward two years, and I finally made it back. The patio has expanded since then, and it feels like a completely new experience compared to their warm, well-lit dining room inside. On this particular October night, the air was mild, the moonlight soft, and for a moment, I felt like I was somewhere in Mexico — relaxed, lively, and full of flavor. I started with a drink called the “Naked Dani.” It was a foamy, flavorful twist on a margarita, light but bold in taste. Though honestly, I couldn’t help thinking it should’ve been called “Naked Antonio” — it just sounds sexier and feels more in tune with Colita’s playful vibe. For food, I went with the Octopus Al Pastor — smashed potatoes, smoked paprika, serrano, cilantro, and micro shiso. Octopus can sometimes be tough, but this one was tender and perfectly cooked. I did wish for a touch more seasoning, but the dish was still enjoyable and beautifully presented. Then came the Chicken Liver Memelita with pickled pear, shiso, hibiscus, and preserved blackberries. I’ll admit — I’m very particular about pâté. I expected something rich and velvety, but this version was more like a mousse — airy, slightly sweet, and unexpected. It wasn’t bad, just not quite what I was anticipating. I also ordered the Crispy Masa Chips with guacamole, hummus, peanuts, and guajillo salsa. To call them “chips” doesn’t quite do them justice — they were thick, crunchy, and full of texture. Delicious, though maybe a bit pricey for what you get. Still, Colita never fails to deliver an experience. The space buzzes with energy, the food pushes creative boundaries, and the drinks always surprise you. It’s one of those places where you go not just to eat, but to feel something — a bit of adventure, a touch of nostalgia, and a reminder of how fun dining can be.

El Taco Riendo is a casual Mexican eatery located in NE Minneapolis, offering generous portions of traditional Mexican dishes. Despite being labeled as fast food, the restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients and preparing meals right in front of customers. The menu reflects the flavors of the region, featuring grilled fish tacos and savory street corn toppings. The unassuming storefront belies the exceptional quality of their offerings, with simple yet delicious tacos served on doubled-up corn tortillas.
Love this place Food is Authentic, super flavorful Staff is courteous and friendly. Well priced and worth every penny
Mistie W — Google review
I'm a fierce and loyal Mexican foodie. I'll drive or walk thousands of miles for an excellent taco, burrito, etc. ENTER el taco riendo. Recommended by one of the workers at a thrift store daughter and I shopped at. Off we go! Wow! First, it's literally a hole in the wall and man, I'm feeling lucky! Always, always the best places! We order and of course, over order. The guacamole is chunky with tomatoes, garlic and cilantro-the avocado flavor is perfectly balanced! Smooth taste with the obvious homemade chips! SWOON! My tostado is Mexican style with onions, cilantro and Carne. The meat is uber tender and falls apart in my mouth as it melds with the corn tortilla and other ingredients. The taco? ☺️ WOW. the best one I had was at a beach shack on cozumel. This is 2nd. Again, Mexican style. The onions don't overpower the rest and never leaves a hot taste. THE SALSA? 2 kinds. The red one is a soft burn (like LA Estrella) but stays foe your next bite. The green is mild and feel your tongue do a happy dance! My Modelo Especial was icy cold-PERFECT! Daughters tamale was soft, doughy and so flavorful with the chicken it was insane (at least she shared unlike hubby). This place may look shabby but it's very clean. The service is quick and food is inexpensive. We ordered a boatload of food and it was a total of 30.00!!!! If you're a Mexican food snob, this place will NOT disappoint!
Cynthia W — Google review
Great authentic Mexican food! The best part? It’s so hard to find great tacos here but these were so good. They got my dads stamp of approval and that says a lot. The place also had really neat paintings as part of their decor and my dad called the painter and even commissioned him for a piece so that was an extra cool bonus! The worst part? It’s definitely a tad costly. I saw a special for Tuesdays, I believe it was, but be ready to spend a bit per person. My mama also ordered the tostadas I think it was and they got super soggy from the meat so she wasn’t able to finish them but otherwise all was good.
Lizsandra E — Google review
The food is good to pretty good. People are always friendly. Some of the pricing could be adjusted. $3.40 for a Mexican coke, go to cub and almost get 2 for that and cubs not cheap
Chris H — Google review
Wow! This place deserves all the good reviews. So affordable and fast service. After living in California and New Mexico, we were hunting for a Mexican spot close to downtown. I highly recommend this place! The tamales are huge and the tacos are delicious.

I go to Taco Riendo whenever I crave some solid Mexican food. Shown below are the foot long and normal sized burrito. If you come here, I advice you to come on an empty stomach. I highly recommend the al pastor for the choice of protein and the home-made horchata for the beverage.
Dario A — Google review
I really liked the food here. I got the foot long burrito, which was a huge mistake. (Pun intended) It's just too much food. I really liked everything I put in the burrito I couldn't finish, or really, even pick up. It looked like I was eating a small baby it was so large. I liked the taste of everything. Looking around at other food and tables, everything looked good. I'll definitely be back.
Augster O — Google review
I love love love El Taco Riendo. My standard order here is the classic burrito, with barbacoa beef and tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and cheese inside. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is.... I usually take the burrito to go, and then head up Central 1/2 block to Fair State Brewing for a great beer with my burrito. Yum. It's a perfect combo, IMO. There are two basic burrito options: Mexican style, or American style. American style features rice, beans, pico, cheese and sour cream. Mexican style features rice, beans, grilled onions, cilantro, lime and the optional add ons listed above (my fav). It's the unique cilantro and lime combo that makes El Taco Riendo's burritos so special. The burritos here are wrapped nicely to allow easy eating. They are not as large as the burritos available over in St. Paul (El Burrito Mercado, for example), but El Taco Riendo's burritos are MUCH more flavorful and unique tasting. It's quality here, not simple quantity. The staff are all super polite and friendly, eager to help you out with questions. The cashier always speaks good English. There are limited parking options on Central, so be prepared to grab a spot on a side street and walk. The sitting area inside is relatively sparse and not large, so be prepared for this too. The night I went here, the line was quite long to order. Each burrito, enchilada, fajita, taco order are all made from scratch while you wait. I am happy that this restaurant survived their big fire several years ago (see my photos from 2020) where they operated out of a food truck, and decided to renovate and reopen in the original location. If you're craving a high-quality delicious burrito, get to El Taco! I know you want one now, right??? Gosh, I sure do. I'm hungry now!

Cocktail bar
Centro is a vibrant Mexican restaurant located on Quincy Street in Northeast Minneapolis. The industrial-chic interior sets the stage for an array of Mexican bites and draft cocktails, including stiff margs and barrel-aged tequila negronis. Chef Jose Alarcon's menu features six varieties of tacos, salads, shrimp ceviche, mole cupcakes, and family-style options like enchiladas and build-your-own taco kits. The restaurant also offers catering services and space for special events.
Absolutely delicious, the variety of authentic dishes were exploding with flavors. Excited to go back and try something different. Pineapple queso is definitely something to try if you haven't already.
Jessica C — Google review
I've visited Centro a handful of times for lunch and it's a nice spot for drinks and a bite! Their cocktails are delicious—I really like their guava margarita—and they have a great overall selection. The decor and atmosphere are also very pleasant. Although you order your food and drinks through their app on your phone, the staff we interacted with were still nice and friendly. All this said, their food can be a little hit-or-miss. In the past I've enjoyed their carnitas tacos, but I was not a huge fan of the birria crunch I tried on my most recent visit. For me the flavors were surprisingly a bit lacking and the wrap seemed over-full of meat and cheese. However, I did like their salsa verde and thought their guacamole was pretty decent. Plus, the tortilla chips we ordered came out warm which is always nice. Overall, I definitely think Centro is a good stop if you're in the area, especially for groups! I'd probably stick with their tacos if ordering an entree, but their drinks are great so it's a fun place to catch up with friends for a lunch or on a night out.

Stopped for happy hour on a pleasant week day evening, had some street tacos, some dip and chips, and a few HH margaritas. Nice service, albeit off a QR app, and good music.

Seating outside was nice and comfy. There was a QR code at the table to scan in order to review the menu and order your food. We Sat for a while before someone actually stopped by to greet us and bring us some water. Food was good and hit the spot for a late night snack.

Nice little vibey spot, private— not too busy during a Sunday afternoon. They have really good frozen drinks, music and everyone was minding their own business. I enjoyed the indoor bar and patio.

The best tacos ans elote that I've had in a LONG time! My husband had the burrito with steak and it was HUGE and tasty as well!
Ashten P — Google review
This place is a complete joke!!! Instead of being taken care of by a waiter you have to scan a QR code and work with a real low tech menu on your phone. You have to also place your order on the phone. It’s like having ten minutes of homework to do just to order food. After finally getting the order placed we sat for another 20 minutes only for an unapologetic waiter to come to the table to ask if we had placed an order. We explained numerous times what we had ordered and after another 15 minutes were served our food one item at a time. The food was much better than the service. Then six hours after leaving the restaurant and already well into another state we get a call that our order is ready!

Having delicious and fun food for our wedding was one of our top priorities - and we are so happy we went with Centro to cater! Everything was as good as it is in the restaurant, including tacos made fresh at the venue! The staff was incredibly helpful both in planning and day of. We were also so happy that they included one of our fav tacos even though it wasn't on their catering menu anymore. Their staff also worked seemlessly with our venue, making dinner totally stress-free! Truly we couldn't have imagined a better dinner for our wedding!

Nestled within the vibrant Mercado Central, Manny's Tortas is a family-owned gem that specializes in traditional Mexican sandwiches. Known for their hearty and affordable offerings, these tortas are crafted with care to ensure each bite bursts with flavor. The signature bolillo rolls serve as the perfect canvas for an array of fillings, from savory marinated pork and pineapple to classic ham or veggie options. Manny’s takes pride in their authentic recipes, including the beloved Milanesa torta featuring breaded steak.
I was so hungry that I forgot to snap a photo of my torta, but believe me— she was glorious! I’ve been meaning to try Manny’s for YEARS, so I was excited when my coworker suggested we order tortas from them for a work meeting. As a vegetarian, I’m always skeptical that a spot that specializes in meat will nail a veggie offering, but I’m pleased to report that Manny’s veggie torta was delightful. The mushrooms were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and they resembled meat. The bread was fluffy and fresh, and the sandwich exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to go there with my husband. Next time I’ll be sure to get a photo… Edit: ordered again (a week later) and did a little sandwich photoshoot— gotta get all the good angles!

Great, delicious Mexican food for a reasonable price. I tried the chorizo molletes, which is 2 half open sandwiches. It's not my favorite sandwich, but it's still pretty good. I recommend you give this a try if you like Chorizo. For the drink, I tried tamarindo which was refreshing and sweet.

First time customer. Read the reviews and decided to try it out. Did not disappoint! I ordered 3 Little Pigs, and it was delicious. Friendly , Fast, and Best Torta I've had in a long while! Highly recommend
Donna P — Google review
Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if you like bigger portions! The food is alright not the best or worst but the portions are smaller than I expected. $15 for a torta & chips is wild I would recommend they increase the portions. A Chipotle burrito would have been bigger & tasty.
Itslexi L — Google review
I’ve lived in the cities for over 5 years now and this was my first time going to Manny’s Tortas after everything i’d heard. It definitely did not disappoint - quite honestly one of the best sandwiches I’ve had. I had the manny’s special; the meat was juicy, the cheese melted, and it was overall perfectly sauced. I know a lot of people have said it’s overpriced, but I disagree. I think the ingredients are quality and it filled me up, I don’t mind spending 15$ for a good sandwich. My friends got the 3 little pigs and the pastor and both agreed they would have it again. Overall a great meal and I’ll be back!
Tara P — Google review
Definitely lives up to the hype! The food is delicious and it is located in such a unique place. We will definitely be back
Luis H — Google review
STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING RIGHT NOW AND GO GET MANNY'S MOLLETES. Look, I don't care if you're weaving through rush hour traffic trying to make the birth of your first child, make the detour and get the molletes, your partner will absolutely forgive you as they cram these in their face. Good heavens, the molletes are out of this world, beyond stellar. The tamarindo drink is also the most amazing, brilliant, wonderfully refreshing drink for a hot summer's day. Sweet and tart and icy cold, you really can't go wrong with *anything* at Manny's Tortas.

Nestled in a cozy corner, El Norteño Authentic Mexican offers a delightful escape into the heart of Northern Mexico's culinary traditions. This charming family-owned eatery, run by three sisters, showcases the rich flavors of Chihuahua with an inviting menu that features mouthwatering tacos and chimichangas. The ambiance is casual yet warm, enhanced by a stunning outdoor patio adorned with vibrant plants and twinkling lights that create a magical atmosphere as evening falls.
When you first walk in, it feels like Covid is still going on! Looks like it’s pickup only. No seating in the restaurant (late august 2023) But there is a wonderfully cute back patio. So many beautiful plants and flowers. Lights come on later in the evening. Very small menu, no liquor. (Think margaritas, though she said they have wine margaritas) One round of chips was all we got, and I think because we ordered guacamole? Not sure you get the standard free chips. I really enjoyed the mole, though I’d have enjoyed a larger size for my appetite! Only bummer was service was slow, but I believe she was working the floor all by herself. So can’t complain
Nomes — Google review
The patio is GORGEOUS!! Especially if you're a plant/flower enthusiast! The food was very good and authentic. The ambiance was perfect! It felt like I was in Mexico!

Wonderful patio area makes you feel like you're not even close to the busy streets. Great guac, carnitas, taco salad, and enchiladas. No tequila or hard liquor but simple selection of beer.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The Flan is to die for! It’s so delicious they sell out almost every day! The enchiladas are so good you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. The moly ones are my favorite. 10/10 💕

Cozy little restaurant. Delishous steak tacos. The patio is pretty sweet on evenings with good weather. The boyfriend found the barbacoa to be tender and juicy. Two dinners were about 35 b7cks plus tip.
Lenna N — Google review
Excellent and authentic Mexican food. Decent prices, too. Friendly staff and a great patio. Highly recommend. A Cooper neighborhood gem! Update 8/9/22: still the best Mexican food around, and the patio is an undiscovered gem!!
Keith W — Google review
I had the chicken chimichanga and my partner had the shrimp tacos. He tried some of my rice & beans and immediately orders his own side! When we first got there, we were bummed out about no chips and queso… but everything following that seriously makes it worth it, forget the queso! The salsa was amazing as well. The service was awesome, I read somewhere that this place is owned by 3 sisters and you can absolutely tell they own the place. Not only can you tell they are happy to be there, but they really enjoy the restaurant. You’ll see them back there cooking your food before they bring it to you. And there is one ingredient in their food you will never taste at El Rancho Grande or any big name Mexican restaurant… LOVE!! We ate all our food and were definitely full, but it didn’t leave us feeling all gross and lethargic like you do after eating the greasy food at other restaurants. Come show this family owned business some love, you won’t regret it

Great Mexican restaurant in a convenient Minneapolis location. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality. I recommend the quesabirria tacos which come with 4 tacos and a small cup of stew.

Amazing food, super friendly staff. We loved the head-on shrimp and the barbacoa chimichanga. We’ll return with friends soon!

On our visit to Minneapolis we stopped in here for our first night dinner. We really liked the place. The food was very good and the service was top notch. Good selection of Mexican beers and menu items. The queso with chorizo was a big hit as was my pastor burrito. The birria taco were very good also. We also ordered the tres leches dessert along with the churros. The churros came out piping hot and were delicious. The tres leches cake was a bit on the dry side but still very tasty. If you are in the area, this is a good place to stop and eat.

Had to get out of the mall of America to come here due to the lack of decent restaurants in the mall. As soon as you walk in you are greeted & feel welcomed from the very nice people who run this place. The service was fantastic & friendly, but of course the food just made it even better. It had flavor and just looked really good. The octopus taco was so delicious, the enchiladas were great with the rice & beans that I was just happy it wasn’t like my previous experience at the Mexican restaurant at the mall, I even got some sweet plantains as an appetizer which was just to top off a great dinner. The drinks were also very good & it just shows that they do their best to make sure you enjoy your food. If I ever come back to Minnesota I’ll def. Come back here again

Went here for lunch with my hubby, daughter and granddaughter. Food was excellent, I had wings, and my husband had a seafood dish that looked delicious and he said it was really good. My granddaughter had a kids meal. Not sure what my daughter had lol. Everybody cleaned their plates, it was so good. The staff was wonderful, they spoke to my five year-old granddaughter like a real person, and not like a child. such a great waiter. Would definitely go again when in the area.

Grande Sunrise is a hidden gem with amazing food and excellent drinks. The double margaritas packs a punch but tastes absolutely delicious. The seafood specialties are fresh, flavorful and heaped with generous portions of shrimp, mussels, crab and more. Service is friendly and prompt. The restaurant is clean and neat. Check this place out!

Some incredible food here, the ceviche was wonderful. We all really enjoyed our food! The restaurant is small and quaint, near the airport off highway 62 inside a neighborhood. The parking lot is small. But their service was excellent with a smile and there is nice decor. I want this restaurant to do well despite not being in some high traffic area or commercial area. Please go check it out! We will definitely go back.

Barrio is a vibrant culinary hotspot that specializes in modern Latin American tapas and tacos, all while boasting an impressive selection of tequila and cocktails. The atmosphere is stylish and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day. Although the Lowertown location recently closed due to challenges with foot traffic, Barrio continues to thrive in Minneapolis and Edina.
We had a fantastic time tonight. We sat at the bar and received amazing service and had the best seafood tacos. You must try the Ahi Tuna taco. It was easily the best taco I’ve ever had. The seared tuna was cooked perfectly and the avocado salsa complimented it perfectly. We’re not from here, but we’ve already made plans to come here specifically in a couple of months

Barrio is an absolute gem. The burrito was packed with flavor, the margaritas were on point, and the elote was some of the best I’ve had. Even the tortilla chips and salsa stood out and tasted fresh. On top of that, the service was excellent, making the whole experience even better. This is definitely a spot worth coming back to.

Barrio is a great tapas style spot in downtown Minneapolis! I'd recommend a reservation to go here, especially on the weekend, as it is a smaller restaurant. The atmosphere is very funky and more modern, and there's no shortage of interesting things to look at here. Barrio has an extensive tequila list, and they offer tequila flights as well. Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the tequila, and the food was delicious! Everything from chips and guacamole to tacos to rice was on point! Definitely consider checking this restaurant out!

Had an awesome experience! I ordered the carnitas tacos, steak taco, and elote and birthing was delicious! I couldn’t help myself but get a second carnitas taco! The carnitas were flavorful, the steak was spot on, and the elote…oh my goodness! Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. My server, Taylor was amazing as well! He was super friendly, chill, funny, and truly on top of it all while juggling multiple outdoor tables. He truly made the experience even better. Definitely a 10/10 spot and I’ll definitely be back (hopefully have Taylor as my waiter again!) keep up the great work!

I unfortunately didn't get pictures of the tacos I had before devouring them but the food and atmosphere were both great, and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating. It is unfortunate how much of the seating inside is upstairs but there is downstairs accessible seating both inside and outside if the weather permits. The food was very delightful. The server also had great suggestions for us that everyone loved.

The menu is amazing and everything we got was SO good! The waitress was slow and a bit rude about closing time. Even though we got there an hour before closing time. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Either way, it took foreverrrr for her to bring us our drinks and she was short the whole time. The atmosphere was perfect! We sat outside but the inside looked super cute.

Ordered off Uber Eats and everything went very well and was very timely. Issue was I did not get the right food, but the food I got was good. I also specifically asked for utensils and did not receive any with my order, so I had to use the lids, cilantro rice was excellent. Would try again in the future.

The soy chorizo and jackfruit tinga were amazing. At 4.5 usd each, the tacos are a tad expensive for what you get but they are delicious. Service was attentive, and fast! My friends got vegetarian enchiladas and meat enchiladas

Came here for lunch with a friend and was SUPER impressed with the food and drinks. There weren't many people in Midtown, so we got sat really quickly and service came quickly behind. The drinks were tasty, came out fast, and the food was right behind. Service was attentive and cheerful and managed to sell me dessert, which I usually skip. I'm happy I didn't this time around! Pictures show the food, and yes every bite was as good as it looks.

I've been coming here for seven years now and eat here probably once a month and have never been disappointed. The ingredients are always really fresh. Everything is homemade even down to the condiments. The portion are good so are the prices. I highly recommend the pork enchiladas with verde.

Wow! Again!! Every time!!! I cannot believer it. I am expecting to be disappointed, one of these times, because it is so amazing every time, but I never am. Had an incredible Horchata to drink. I love Horchata, and they make a perfect Horchata. 5 Stars. I am vegetarian,. I can get ceviche again!!! Yes please. Amazing dish. Perfect. I can get tacos with real Mexican flavor. YES??? OMGoodness. the tortillas melt in your mouth, and the vegetarian meat they fill the tacos with. Put me on a street corner in Monterrey, in Cancun, in Agua Azul, in Chiapas, in Mazatlán. I feel like I am eating the real deal. This is REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food. So good. Every time. So impressed, again and again. Elvia and Alejandra. Thank you so kindly for my wife and myself!

I was so very excited to try Salsa a la Salsa. I really wanted to love it but I'm reluctant to inform fellow folks that it just didn't hit the spot. Maybe it was an off day? The wait staff although nice, were not or did not seem happy ( no big loss in points here ) as they were not rude either, maybe it was a long day? We got a a mix of tacos, including chicken and veggie tacos with soy chorizo with cactus, and carnitas burrito. Overall I was expecting more in flavor and spices. I felt it was on par with Pineda, for flavor, but more expensive. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, it just didn't wow us to 4-5 stars either.
Jameson J — Google review
There are so many amazing choices for restaurants at the global market, I chose to try a new one today. I looked at the menu at Salsa a la Salsa and was impressed. I like to see unique items that you may net see anywhere else or new variations of classic dishes. I saw that we they offered 3 types of vegetarian tacos (grilled vegetable is the day, vegetarian chorizo and jack fruit). To tried the later two and lives them. As good as meat. The corn tortillas had great flavor and may be home made. I also tried their guacamole and it was perfect. Beans and rice were very good. Chips were ok. Salsas were all good and. Vert distinct from one another and tasty. I recommend trying Salsa a la Salsa for your next meal.

The best tacos I have had in Minnesota since I moved two years ago. Very authentic. Salsas are amazing, as well as the corn tortillas. Service was excellent, very attentive and fast. I love the atmosphere, decorations are perfect.

This place was really good, the tacos were to die for and the nachos were good. But happy hour specials are absolutely great as well. It is decorated But you do not get to see the whole place, just the room that you are dining in. My one complaint is for it to be known which drinks have the holiday mugs and which drinks have regular cups. I had to order another drink after my first drink because I did not get a Christmas mug even I ordered a Christmas drink. You only get the Christmas mug with the margaritas. The drinks were absolutely strong! We would absolutely go back again!
Stephanie J — Google review
Fun, energetic vibe with lot's of customers and a glorious amount of Halloween seasonal decorations. Can't wait to see what they do for Christmas, but I here it is over the top as well. Wonderful neighborhood gem. The margaritas were served in amazing vintage holiday ceramic. The appetizers ordered for the table were excellent. The building is a large old house with 1st floor porch and a 2nd floor balcony. The patio area is very inviting with plants as well. The funky color choices and colorful lights in and out makes a festive night out even on a weekday.

I live about a 2min walk from here and decided to give it a try so I ordered takeout. I got the Pescado taco and the Pastor Taco, the Zona Rosa, Verde Serrano, and Roasted Tomatillo salsas and chips. The Pescado taco was delicious as well as the salsas and the chips were perfect! I wasn’t a big fan of the Pastor taco personally, while it has great flavor, the pork was a bit overcooked. All in all I enjoyed the food and will order again!!
Raven J — Google review
Went for the Halloween themed ambiance and it didn't disappoint. Food as always was delicious. We got the enchilada with barbacoa and tacos with barbacoa and carnitas. Barbacoa was better in my opinion but can't go wrong with the meat options. We got the monster mash and nightmare on Hennepin drinks and they were good but the Halloween themed mugs they were served on stole the show. Server was very attentive throughout the meal. Minor knock is that they'll ask if you want chips and salsa/guac quite frequently without telling you that it's NOT free. So just be aware in case you don't really want to pay for them. I would definitely recommend checking them out while the Halloween theme is up!

This is a hidden gem restaurant in our neighborhood! The item number 17 in their menu is thumbs up. Their carne asada is my favorite—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. And their mango margaritas? Simply the best I’ve ever had! The warm and welcoming atmosphere makes it a go-to spot for a delicious and satisfying meal.

What a wonderful neighborhood spot! I didn’t know about this place until my friend recently invited me to eat here for lunch. It was a true delight. The patio is charming and relaxed. They have great lunch specials, and there was $1 off lunch discount, which was a great surprise. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the amble veggie options. The chips were fresh, salsa was tasty, and the rice and beans were flavorful. Definitely a good option for folks who like “Minnesota spicy” dishes, because the salsa didn’t have much kick at all, but it was still delicious. Can’t wait to come back.

We visited this Mexican restaurant as a family. Overall, the experience was positive: the atmosphere was pleasant, the service attentive, and the food presentation was on point. The food itself was decent, though I personally found it a bit too greasy for my taste. Other members of my family were satisfied with their meals. ⠀ One disappointment was the absence of Tepache on the menu — I was really hoping to try it. ⠀ All in all, this place is worth a visit, but I would appreciate a bit more balance in flavors and some lighter options on the menu.

We enjoy going to the St Anthony area, experiencing this level of excellent service and food. The three salsas that come with chips and dip and a margarita are worth the whole trip. The chef understands authentic Mexican food; the flavors are a treat. We were seated by the front window, where the view of the bridge and downtown is fantastic.

Save your money and spare your taste buds when it comes to ordering food here. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and the tortilla was tough as a rock I had to spit it out. The flavor was anything but authentic … or tasty— at that. The patio seating was great and so was our server. I would recommend coming here solely for the cocktails and the patio.

I wish I had taken more time to capture on film the vibe of this place. I just loved the atmosphere. These definitely are not my best pics plus some didn't turn out because it was very dark. Lol, but I digress. Guacamole was on point, nachos were soooo good, chicken tinga tacos were yummy and the chips were delicious and perfectly salted. Everything was good here! We enjoyed our margaritas, birria tacos, and enchiladas. None of the food blew us out of the water but it was all really solid. Service was a bit slow on a Thursday night with a full patio. I’d definitely recommend a visit for the great patio scenery and tasty tacos.

This Mexican fusion restaurant is such a gem. The views is stunning, and the atmosphere and décor are truly what make the place unforgettable — cozy, welcoming, and full of character. The food is excellent, packed with flavor and beautifully presented, and the service is consistently friendly and attentive. The drinks are solid — maybe not mind-blowing — but still very enjoyable and a great complement to the meal. On top of it all, the owners are wonderful and clearly put a lot of heart into what they’ve created. Highly recommend for a special night out.

3.7 stars Jefe looks amazing inside, and the staff was very helpful and attentive. Typically, seating outside in summer has a wait but there are plenty of seats inside available for immediate seating. Menu is not expansive by any means. I got the fried tortillas that they use for chips and the three different salsas. The mango habanero changed my life and was by far the highlight of my entire meal. The shrimp tacos were underwhelming and very basic at $6 per taco. The plantains were hot and delicious. Overall, it was an okay meal with sprinkles of great here and there.

Sat on the patio, and that offered a stellar experience with the waning sun, the breeze in the trees across the street, and the many passersby on a lovely evening. Our server was super friendly and attentive, making the experience just right. We got in just in time for happy house, so we got Jefe Margaritas (not too sweet, not bitter--just cozy and tasty!) and nachos with beef (fully loaded, absolutely delicious, and healthy portions of stellar guac). Since we were celebrating a birthday, we topped this off with a tres leches cake and that was an absolute standout. While we didn't sit inside, the atmosphere looked spectacular, with retro/cozy energy and high ceilings with a beautiful bar at the center. We will be back for more!

My husband wanted some Chicharron and I wanted fish. We looked up and saw that this restaurant had both of what we were looking for. We order the Chicharron, Talapia fish/Mojarra Frita o a la Parrilla, 3 Tacos entree, and Chimichanga. All foods were super delicious. My fish was super delicious, I didn't have to use any sauce. The service and the people there were super nice. We will definitely come back for other things in the menu.

Just found this restaurant I currently live in Chaska and it's a completely hidden Latin community in NE mpls. This has definitely become one of my of our favorite places to eat. The guacamole and the chicken wings some the best I've had in the city worth going for that alone. I usually dislike most of the tortilla chips served in most restaurants I can't stop eating them here. They are made fresh extremely light and delicious with the guacamole. Live music and karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights.

Served by Estavinia. Great Food. Nice Staff. A wonderful dining experience! The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, with perfectly cooked dishes and bold flavors. Each course was beautifully presented. Overall, a fantastic experience—highly recommended for anyone seeking great food and a warm atmosphere!

Looking for an amazing dining experience? Look no further than this restaurant! I recently visited with my family and we were blown away by the incredible menu offerings, especially the Peruvian ceviche. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was impeccable. This is the place for great food, fantastic atmosphere, and top-notch service. Don't miss out!

I can’t recommend it more! I am Peruvian and hadn’t have any good Peruvian food for awhile, I saw a post in Fb about this restaurant and wanted to try it. Ordered a causa, Lomo Saltado for my husband, and Pesto for myself. It was really good, food was flavorful and service was excellent. We also had a Chicha morada and Inca Kola which we liked a lot too. We will definitely come back and share it with friends and family.

I went to this place attracted by the advertisement that they prepare Peruvian food. But it's just a way to attract customers, it's just another Mexican restaurant with some Peruvian dishes. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended the Aeropuerto. Very bad selection, it was a bad copy of Chinese fried rice, for that I would have gone to a Chinese restaurant. I would have preferred something more typical of Peru. The Food was unsavory, the place was extremely hot more than outside, the service was not great and the prices are high for the experience. Hope they will read this and make some improvements.

Roti Mediterranean Bowls. Salads. Pitas is a casual fast-food chain eatery offering a variety of Mediterranean options such as build-your-own salads, bowls, and pita sandwiches. Located in Minneapolis, it provides fresh and hearty Mediterranean food with a mix of Greek dishes like falafel. The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients to create delicious Turkish cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
First time visiting. I ordered the chefs choice Chicke Cauliflower bowl. The food very tasty! The chicken was tasty and the Cauliflower rice was one of the best I have had, it was not mooshy or too hard, just perfect. Overall, the spices and sauses used were great and just the right amount of spicy. It was a lunch that was filling, but did not feel heavy, it actually gave me a bit of energy! I will definitely be back, not too often since it's a bit pricey for lunch.

Decent food, but small portion at a high cost. This location has a modern atmosphere with a direct view of the IDS tower waterfall. I came on a Wednesday around 11:45am and there was no line (unlike other nearby restaurants) Had the skirt steak and brussel sprouts bowl with no modifications. Steak was done perfectly, but still hungry after spending $17.
Andrew L — Google review
First time. Three bowls = $60. The steak bowl as is, was not worth the price. It was half filled with rice and bits of toppings. I had to ask to liven it up. At least the rice could have been more generous at that price point. Don’t forget to ask for the “included” pita. We almost missed it and all would have starved because every piece of steak was uneatable and had to be spit out.
Shaleen D — Google review
Tasty bowl and I assume high quality ingredients by dang it seems pricey when I can get chipotle for half the price.

Roti filled the lite lunch I was looking for. And it was in the same building as The Marquette Hotel, where I was staying. Great falafel pita sandwich.

What happened to this place? Food used to be a decent alternative compared to the higher priced salad locations. It’s now the literal same price and about 30% the quality. They’ve also very obviously reduced portion sizing. I guess I’ll stick to the salad places for better quality and options.

My roti bowl had visibly burnt chicken and it tasted dry and burnt. There wasn't as much ingredients and sauce in my bowl unlike other locations. Only giving two stars because my coworkers all enjoyed their food.

Iconos Gastro Cantina is a lively eatery located in LynLake that offers a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The restaurant features an eye-catching entryway and a party-like ambiance with Latin music, pop art, and sparkles. It's known for serving delicious food with good portion sizes, especially from their brunch menu. The bar offers strong and tasty drinks, including a fiery celebration for ordering a flight of mezcal or the impressive El Cantarito cocktail.
Great food, prompt service, cool restaurant, good music (but too loud, I don’t like to shout while I eat!). We got the guacamole (fantastic chips) which was nummy, Queso Fundido, also delish, so-so (expensive) coffee, to start, then the Iconos breakfast (scrambled eggs, with bacon, fried potatoes, French toast, all OK) and the Chilaquiles Nobles with skirt steak, which was very good. 4.7 overall, knocking off a bit for the LOUD music….it’s too much for brunch, wait ‘til the sun goes down…..

I had a great first dining experience here yesterday, and will be going back for sure! Great service, food and such a chill atmosphere. The chips/guac/salsa was so great as well as the birria tacos we had! Also the Hibiscus mocktail was one of the best mocktails I have ever had!

✨ Brunch level: FABULOUS ✨ Bottomless passion fruit mimosas in hand, sequins in my sightline, and zero chance of holding a deep conversation because the queens were bringing the house down. 💃🍾 Iconos Uptown’s (monthly) drag brunch was pure joy — glitter, laughter, and the kind of over-the-top entertainment that makes you forget about your phone (well, except for a few videos). 🪩 10/10 recommend for anyone who loves their eggs with a side of sparkle. 🥂💖

Showed up for happy hour on Sunday. It started at 1:00 p.m. they had a DJ who is mixing decent music, but it was considerably too loud for the speaker system to handle with lots of crackling. When the DJ was done, the atmosphere became a little bit more pleasant and easier to take in without all the noise. All in all a favorable experience

I’m not sure why the place is rated so low as this place was a vibe! I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while and decided to go yesterday. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Auga Chile and the Tinga tacos. My partner ordered the quesadilla. The food arrived very quickly and the presentation was absolutely beautiful. The food was really good as well. Literally top tier for the price point. I would absolutely return. It’s open late on weekends and ample seating throughout the area. Also the presentation was impeccable from the drinks to the food.

Super cute place with delicious food! I really love the entryway. I went with a big group for brunch, and despite the large group, we received good service. The food was delicious, it didn't take long, and it was good portion sizes. The prices aren't too bad either. The drinks were strong but good. The only thing I had an issue with was how hot it was, but because of the size of our group, we were sitting right by the kitchen. There is metered parking on the street, and a paid lot in the back of the building.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is a popular fast-food chain known for its customizable Mexican dishes like burritos, tacos, and bowls. With multiple locations in Minneapolis, it offers convenient and flavorful meals at reasonable prices. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and tasty food options such as the chicken al pastor and berry aqua fresca. While some mention occasional issues with customer service or amenities, overall, Chipotle remains a go-to choice for satisfying and healthy Mexican cuisine.
All tho the parking situation is not the best because we were in the cities, the customer service was amazing. My friend and I went in before closing and throughout the whole making our burrito time they were calm, nice, and generous. As a fellow fast food worker and chipotle lover i understand coming in right before closing is really annoying but i’m pleased to say they still respected us and didn’t seem annoyed at all. I will definitely be going back!
Caelynn L — Google review
This was so bad. They were out of water cups and small drinks, so we were forced to order larges if we wanted to drink. Then after ordering those large drinks, they had no sodas in the machine except Pibb and Mellow Yellow. They had no fajita for our burritos. The chips we ordered looked like they had been kicked around like a soccer ball and tasted stale. We could barely find any to eat our salsa with. The dining room wasn’t even set up to eat in. We had to take down chairs off a table to eat. It was 5:15pm. Pretty prime dinner time. To top it off, the garbage cans were all full in the entire restaurant. Would not go back.
Tina B — Google review
I’ve gone to this location several times over the last year because I work nearby. The portions are always off, the food doesn’t taste as good as it used to, the chips are never salted, and the guac is less to be desired. It’s just not good, guys. Something needs to change. Photos of the amount of chips I got along with the “guac”.
Kendra — Google review
The food is usually omazing, the staff is usually unomazing. I’ve been here maybe 30 times in the last year and been super dissapointed in portion size/food quality maybe twice. The variation in portion sizes is insane. Sometimes a bowl is enough to make an entire burrito (order a tortilla on the side) and then still have a good chunk left. Sometimes it doesn’t fill up the bowl at all right out of the bag. See photos for difference. I will still go here about once a week and it’s almost always good so it’s 4 stars for me

Located on the corner of a busy major but small road. Drive in is easy, but you have to be super careful of pedestrians crossing streets. Not best experience with the kind of people who hang out in the area loitering. Staff are always busy and a bit of a customer avoidant, but they work extra hard on the food and you can tell they focus on making sure the order is correct, they always remember to send you off with a smile. Happy to order again.

This was terrible the worst chipotle restaurant I’ve ever been they run out water cup covers there was no brown rice option and guacamole trash cans were blocked on the walkways and the entire store is dirty Will never come back here again
Hassan D — Google review
The food was on point, The service was good, but they forgot the drink and had to repeat the order a few times, not a big deal. Other than the road construction that made it difficult to get to, the atmosphere was kind of like the dining area was abandoned, a few dirty trays on tables and just seemed dusty and neglected. I will have no problem going back but would rather eat the meal at a park or bus stop.
Rob R — Google review
Busy location, but they get it done. Huge props to the staff here and, of course, their food. Chipotle is my go-to option for flavorful meals that are healthy, cravably delicious, and reasonably priced. The chicken al pastor especially has been hitting lately. So tasty. Also, special shoutout to the berry aqua fresca. I have to dock a star because I ordered through Doordash and the delivery time kept inching later and later until I received my order about an hour after placing it one time, but that was during peak dinner hours on a Sunday. Everything was still delicious as expected after that. I don’t fault them for the delay too much considering how many people are going in and out the doors every day, plus people ordering delivery and pickup on top of that. Chipotles have been seeming more hectic lately. It’s a marvel they’re able to do what they do. That all said, solid experience all around. I’ll be back. I highly respect Chipotle’s attention to quality and sustainability too.

This was a wonderful find! We were looking for a new place to try and came across this little wonder. Food was delish! They have a good selection of flavored meats to choose from. They have entrees or you can choose to make a bowl. A very wide variety of toppings. You have the opportunity to add as much heat as you want. The chips are a little thicker than you normally get at a mexican style place, but I really liked them. They worked really well with the salsa. You order at a counter and let them know which toppings you want. They have some tables if you want to eat there. Staff was friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to put on my bowl. Very reasonable priced. Definitely will go back here.

Catrinas, is right across from our Childs Pre-school a chinese immersion preschool. Highly recommended. Now you have two reasons to pull off of Kenzie Terrace, where Lowry ends. Catrinas, runs a system not unlike Chipotle, with a wider choice of Proteins, a wider choice of add ins, and a overall better flavor that comes from being one of a few instead of one of many. Pick Taco Salad, Tres Tacos, Burrito, or Bowl. Sound familiar? Then off to the races. It was friday the special was my favorite Fish Tacos, which came with a coleslaw and special fish glaze. AMAZING! I recommend this place in all ways for all reasons and all seasons. They have a dozen fresh salsas, including a ghost pepper sauce, I swear in the last five years, all sorts of places are bringing the heat, without loosing the flavor! Something new for Minnesota, a place where 'Katsup' and 'Ranch' were considered 'Spicy' I have been a frustrated Hot Sauce nut now for years, with few options, in THAI food that was hot enough, now the Latin food is catching on. LOVE THAT! Come here, try a daily special whatever, you will be back. I know it.

Overall: 4 stars Atmosphere: 4.5 stars Service: 3.5 stars Food: 3.8 stars Fairly slow service: We came about 30 minutes before close, and we were the only ones in the dining area besides people at the bar and it took quite a while to get our food, over 20 minutes. I could see that they were fulfilling lots of take out orders, so that's probably why. But I'm surprised they didn't prioritize customers dining in. Fun atmosphere; I like the way they decorated with plants, and lights. They also had some catchy Mexican music playing Mixed food quality, but overall good; Enchiladas with beef and green sauce (5 stars). The sauce was really flavorful, nice cheese pull, and well seasoned beef. The beans were clearly homemade, you could taste the onion/garlic/mexican spices they were cooked in! Orales salad (2.0 stars). This was pretty bland. It said it had a cilantro dressing, but I could not taste cilantro at all. Instead it was a confusingly sweet dressing with no discernable spice/herb profile. So mix that with a standard lettuce (which was starting to brown) beans and corn mix, and it was a rather underwhelming salad. (Sorry!) Fish taco (4.5 stars). They served with with a very large piece of fish that was well fried, topped with some crunchy veggies and a sauce. Super good! Beef taco (4.0 stars) this taco seemed a bit small for the price, but the steak was cooked well and I loved the spicy salsa that was served on the side.

Of course, Cinco de Mayo was.I didn't mind waiting an hour for my food. I waited a whole hour from my food and was given the wrong order. I ordered enchiladas, and they gave me tacos. The enchiladas were dry, and the meat was bland. The tacos, on the other hand, were perfect. Free face art for the children.

We went to the Orale food truck and it was delicious! The staff was very helpful in guiding the best gluten-free choices on the menu to avoid cross-contamination as much as possible. The barbacoa was tasty and the churros excellent! High quality food (photographed in lower quality light).

I love your fish tacos!! I’ll return but I want you know the last time there must have been a shortage in pineapple. The were teeny tiny pieces and they were pale. Hope you get better pineapple for next time. Second photo was the recent time with barely any pineapple.

Ate here with my partner on a whim one day for lunch. Got a "swimming" burrito with shredded beef, and they got the taco plate. Both portions were generous and filling! The meat was delicious and well seasoned 😋 I couldn't finish my burrito (and I wanted to save space for dessert). Got a to go container, and the tres leche cake to go. Everything was delicious, and lunch for two with drinks came up to $40 (not including dessert). I would def come back and eat here again!

We ended up here while running errands and were pleasantly surprised. Asada and Filipino tacos were delicious. The beans were not overloaded with fat like a lot of places. Red posole was rich with pepper flavor and tons of meat (though in the future I’d request more hominy). Bar is cute.

Nixta Tortilleria & Mexican takeout is a popular mexican restaurant in Minneapolis that offers huge portions of authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurant changes its menu regularly, so be sure to check out the current offerings before you order.
Elevated Mexican food in NE Mpls! Let's start with the heirloom corn because it really does make a difference in the flavor of the corn tortillas and tostadas we had. The house-made tortillas are exceptional, and dishes like the Guacamole, Tetela de Huitlacoche (made with nixtamal, huitlacoche, salsa de queso), and Tacos de Pato (duck confit served on a jicama tortilla with avocado mousse and cranberry pico) really showcase the freshness and creativity of the kitchen. My favorite dish was the Quesabirria (three beef birria and quesillo tacos served with consomé, cactus salad). We also tried the Barbacoa, a slow-roasted lamb shank — great flavors, though I wished it had been a little more spicy. The Pollo con Mole (chicken thigh with mole) was plated like something you'd expect at a high-end tasting menu. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the fried plantain added a perfect complement to the mole and chicken. My mezcal cocktail, however, was a miss — it lacked the boozy burn I like to balance the sweetness of the fruit flavors. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to this top-notch Mexican eatery — definitely order a bunch of dishes to share! The ambiance is cozy with vibrant Mexican flair, and the service was spot on. Cost without tip for 4 people was $215. Reservations recommended.

Everything my tastebuds touched induced a warm feeling of love, joy, and satisfaction. All the dishes we tried upon the first bite I felt my shoulders relax and my mouth excited about the flavors and textures. I’m usually a very picky eater but I went in thinking I was going to try anything I could and I am so incredibly happy I did. Service and staff were polite knowledgeable and attentive, we were treated like family. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the art on the walls are beautiful, deep and thoughtful. Everyone involved in the operation has put their heart into this place and you can tell. Can’t wait to bring everyone I know for this wonderful experience.

Oro by Nixta had the highest quality tacos I've ever had, and I've had plenty. A few reviews I read prior to my meal caviled at the prices. The way I see it, quality comes at a price. We started off with a couple margaritas. These were strong, but went down easy. As for our meal, we had soft shell crab, beef tongue, duck, and quesabirria tacos. The soft shell crab was unlike any other taco I've had. The crab appears burnt, but is actually deep fried, then blackened with squid ink. It was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It's worth coming here for that alone. I've had beef tongue tacos a handful of times, but none compare to Oro by Nixta's. My biggest knock on beef tongue is the overly gummy texture. Here, it was prepared in a way where the flavors overshadowed the texture. The duck tacos were much smaller than anticipated. However, the combination of the cherry salsa and avocado sauce complemented the duck nicely. Lastly, the birria tacos weren't as peculiar as the other tacos, but were still delightful. Most Mexican restaurants offer affordable fare and hole in the wall vibes. If you go to Oro by Nixta with that expectation, you'll be disappointed. It's evident thought and passion goes into each dish here. If I ever make it back to Minneapolis, it would be hard to pass up dining here again.

Not being able to find authentic Mexican food in the area, I was excited to see this restaurant on DDD! Don't take me wrong there are a lot of Mexican restaurant around and some are really good but not authentic as I remember when we visited Mexico City! This place is for real! The owners Gustavo and Kate are amazing people. The food is delicious and real. The menu is diverse and their tequila selection is very extensive. We will go back, you should visit them too.
Pete P — Google review
Oro by Nixta offers a fine dining twist on Mexican cuisine. Overall, the food is fantastic, but service our night seemed a little slow for the quality of the restaurant. Our favorite dish was the Chochoyotes de Yuca, which is considered an appetizer. These yuca-masa dough balls are melt-in-your-mouth delicious with a creamy queso salsa topped with a refreshingly tangy arugula salad. I cannot recommend this enough. Following that we really enjoyed the Sope de Zanahoria and Taco de Milpa. A sope is essentially a savory, dense masa cake, and it paired well with the roasted carrot. The milpa (squah) taco was so delicious, and the beans inside were a nice texture and flavor. Our mild disappointment of the evening was the Pescado al Pastor. The tortillas, canelli beans, and pineapple sauce were all delicate compliments to one another. However, the fish itself kind of got lost amongst the other flavors and didn’t pack a strong punch. We liked our cocktails as well. Normally, I wouldn’t make a comment on service, but since this is a fine dining place, I’ll make a note. It took almost 10 minutes for a server to come introduce the menu, which was confusing because they seemed well-staffed. Our waiter was nice and informative, but it just took longer than expected to order. The food does come fast after you order, and they are able to adjust quantities in appetizers to accommodate group size. It’s a good restaurant, and I would return!

We finally made it to Oro by Nixta after hearing nonstop rave reviews, and wow, it lived up to every bit of the hype and more. From the moment we walked in, the warm, intimate vibe and stunning wall art set the tone for what became one of the best dining experiences we've had in Minnesota. We kicked things off with drinks that were not only beautifully crafted but perfectly balanced. They were bold without being overpowering and the kind you instantly want another round of. Then came the chips, salsa, and guacamole, which might sound simple but were anything but. The flavors were fresh, layered, and full of personality. A flawless opening to the meal. The quesabirria followed and was pure magic, crispy on the outside, rich and melty inside, with a depth that lingered long after each bite. The lamb, fish, and shrimp dishes were just as unforgettable. Each protein was cooked to perfection and paired with unique accompaniments that made the flavors pop in totally different ways. It’s rare to find a place where every item on the table feels like a signature dish. But that’s exactly what Oro delivers. The staff? Absolutely top-tier. Welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to guide you through the menu. We felt like we were dining with old friends who really cared about making the experience special. Oro by Nixta isn't just a meal. It’s a love letter to modern Mexican food: elevated, soulful, and unforgettable. We’re already planning our next visit.

El Jefe Cocina & Bar is a delightful family-owned gem that brings the vibrant flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine to life with a modern twist. Every dish is crafted from scratch daily, ensuring freshness and quality in every bite. The restaurant boasts a chic yet casual ambiance, adorned with dark hues and twinkling lights that create an inviting atmosphere.
We live in the neighborhood and finally made it over to El Jefe last night. Food was great, but the service won us over. We have 3 young kids, and our server was on it. She was ready for us to order the moment we sat down, and the food all came quickly. We appreciate the opportunity to eat out at places with good food AND staff who recognize how difficult it can be to keep babies and toddlers entertained for long periods of time. There were many couples around us enjoying their food and drinks without lots of interruptions, so it was clearly not just a tactic to turn tables quickly. We look forward to coming back!

Definitely try this place out. Our server David was great! All his recommendations were great. I got the margarita flight and the chicken tinga street tacos. delicious! the outside seating is pleasant! will be back!

Okay WOW. In town visiting so just found this place on google but I would totally recommend. Their menu has such unique flavors, not just a classic Mexican place by any means, so we tried a bunch of different things. The chicken tortilla soup was by far the best I've ever had and the blackberry ginger margaritas was sooooooo good. Also the service was great! I would come back here in a heartbeat!!!!!!

Great spot for street taco and margaritas. Cute little restaurant with good sized outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. Try a margarita flight!

So happy to have this place back open for the spring. We tried the meat platter last week with a side of rice and beans. Amazing dinner. It says for two, I shared it with four plus an order of chips & guac which was more than enough for us.
Rich G — Google review
I have found my new favorite 😍 I had heard glowing reviews about El Jefe and I was not misled! We had chips, salsa and queso as a starter. Our server was great and was very personable. Would definitely recommend the margarita flight! Mole enchiladas 10/10, the Hawaiian shrimp is a winner! We have plans to be back soon for the brunch!
Janine S — Google review
We were struggling to find places that served alcoholic flights, but stumbled across El Jefe. We arrived at 4 PM on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Margarita flights were $29 for four (tangletown, blackberry ginger, tepache, and blood orange mezcal) and we ordered the guacamole with house made chips and a side of queso. Margaritas were the perfect size. Tepache (pineapple) was our favorite and I can’t wait to go back to order it in the full size. Blood orange mezcal was our least favorite; it was very “smoke flavored.” The guacamole was THE BEST ever -- fresh, flavorful, delicious. We usually love queso, but it was very bland. Our server was on top of everything, cheerful, friendly – a delight (thank you, Dayrin!). We’re already planning our next visit to try the street tacos. One negative is their hours – 4-9 PM only.
S F — Google review
So, this is my second time visiting El Jefe. The first time was SOOOO Bomb! This experience had to been the WORST! The chips were Uber Salty, the guacamole salsa from the trio dip was Uber Sour! The flight was AWESOME!!! It's an Uber NO for me to come back!!!! I do NOT recommend, as the cook change FREQUENTLY👀

Could not ask for a better experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was quick and very friendly staff! The food...incredible! If you like a spicy margarita this is the place to go. We had the ceviche, seafood nachos, ahi tuna tacos, fish tacos & flan. HIGHLY recommend El Jefe!!

Restaurant
Taqueria y Birrieria las Cuatro Milpas is a Mexican restaurant located on East Lake Street, offering a variety of traditional taqueria dishes as well as the classic birria stew. The menu features an array of birria stews and allows customers to enjoy the tender, shredded birria in tacos, quesadillas, or tortas.
Great Birria! I love this place for the delicious food, neighborhood atmosphere, and great service. There's always plenty of locals here, a true sign of quality. Somehow, there are usually 3 different rodeos shown on the televisions at once. I highly recommend this restaurant for good Mexican food, especially the many kinds of Birria.

This place is awesome. Great food & beer selection. The chef and owner of the establishment were friendly and the service was fantastic. They also sell a range of specialty grocery items that are hard to find elsewhere. Highly recommended.
Nick G — Google review
Our neighbors recommended us this spot, so my partner and I came here one night for dinner on a random occasion, and unfortunately ended up having a relatively subpar dining experience. To begin with, our table and the menus given to us were very dirty and had lots of visible food tidbits, which made us have to clean things up a bit ourselves. That was okay, though, because I have experienced worse and wouldn't choose to let it impact my judgment to such an extent. I thought the only item that was solid was my lengua torta, which had a good amount of stuff inside ranging from meat to lettuce to mayo, and made me full in a very satisfactory way. A lot of the tacos were dry and reliant on the lime for a little bit of juice, including the birria tacos. My partner ordered the chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos, and thought they all tasted mediocre. Personally I enjoyed having some radishes because they cleansed my palate when needed. Another unfortunate event was that later that night, I experienced a severe stomachache and had to throw up. Granted, I have not tried their birria with consomé yet, which per my understanding was what made them famous since the beginning of time, at least according to a piece of newspaper I had seen next to the bathroom. Next time when I visit, I will try such instead, which I hope can provide me with an improved experience.

Some of the best Birria Tacos in the Twin Cities 😋 Worth the 15 minute drive everytime. I usually order to-go but their dining space is pretty nice and well kept 👌🏾 I would recommend the 5 taco combo for only $16.35 (tax included)!!
JB B — Google review
I am on the hunt for the best birria tacos in the Twin Cities. This was my third birria tasting. This local restaurant at 1526 East Lake Street has the real deal. Birria essentially is long braised meat in a mixture of spices. It is tender and flavorful. They have birria de borrego (sheep), birria de chivo (goat), and birria de res (beef) on soft tortillas or fried (dorado), complete with consomme, limes, and radishes. They were delicious! One of their specialties is quesadilla birria, loads of birria meat and loads of cheese inside a large fried flour tortilla. This is really, really good. I highly recommend you try this one. They have an extensive menu of many other items such as traditional tacos, including lengua and others, and a wide range of things like shrimp ceviche. The prices are great, and the food is very good. I had their horchata. While it was a bit on the sweet side, it was also quite good. We didn't get any, but they also have a selection of desserts, such as tres leches cake. Please bring your patience, as a lot of Spanish is spoken here. However, everyone was cheery and helpful. You cannot go wrong here. These were quite excellent birria tacos!!

The food here was sooo good! It has not lost its authentic taste. Even when the place is busy, the food was out within a reasonable amount of time. I got the menudo with maiz, we did get 2 kids chicken tender basket meals however with how much it was we should have just ordered 1. The tacos de asada and rice were bomb💣 The salsa was spicy but it was soo good you kept adding more and more. The mexican coke is the medio litro one (1/2 liter). They also had aguas and I ordered the agua de horchata. It was very tasty!! Not too sweet which is the way I like it! We will deff be back when we are back in the area 👍🏼

Nestled in a charming neighborhood, the Village Pub is a delightful spot that boasts a spacious patio and even features a bocce court for some fun outdoor activity. This casual eatery offers an enticing menu filled with classic American fare, including mouthwatering burgers and flavorful rice bowls. Diners rave about the quality of the food; many have enjoyed their juicy, hand-crafted patties paired with crispy fries. The atmosphere is inviting, making it an ideal choice for brunch, lunch, or dinner.
Great food... burger I had today was perfect and hand-made patty juicy rich in flavor. you can't get this quality of food from fast food restaurants. Love the beer list and grandkids. I always enjoy dinner here.Hannah was our waitress and did an outstanding job.

I stopped in out of curiosity because I was in the area and have been meaning to try. I sat at the bar and was greeted promptly by a very nice gal who suggested one of the rice bowls. I ordered it and it was very good! The chicken bowl! Great flavors and very fresh!

We had the Birria Nachos and Naughty Tots to share. Nachos were great, tots were so-so...not exciting. We had water to drink and the wait staff never came back for refills. There were about 8 people in the entire place. We asked for the bill and more water and the waiter came back with the bill and one water. First time here, maybe last. I see other good reviews. Give it a try.
Cindy — Google review
I did take out, so do not have *actual* feedback on the service or atmosphere other than that it was ready very quickly. The chicken sandwich was very good. Moist, cooked well, and crunchy on the outside. The shoestring fries were greasy and undercooked. The cheese curds were ok, but I probably wouldn’t order again.

We found this place by accident. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the food and the service were. My burger was cooked just the way I ordered it, and I loved the crispy, thin fries. Nice chicken wings with veggies.

A nice place for a good brunch, lunch or dinner. The restaurant is located in a nice place, and love their outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. The menu is on a bit of a higher side. The food tasted excellent. I went to this place a couple more times and have enjoyed it each time. Lovely options on the menu.

There was one waitress serving maybe 5 tables. I was with a party of two (including myself) and there over 2 hours (because it took 30 minutes for her to come by again). She came by 4 times. She was very nice but the worst service I have ever had. At the end, she apologized for the crazy night. Don’t know what she was referring to. The water also tasted disgusting, like metal and my food was bland. Way over-priced as well. Don’t come here.

Habanero Tacos Grill is a hidden gem that ignites the taco scene with its fiery flavors and unique twists on traditional Mexican cuisine. This taqueria specializes in spicy elements, featuring habanero-infused salsas and jalapeño-marinated meats that promise an exhilarating experience for spice lovers. Nestled just off the bustling Lake Street corridor, it may be easy to overlook, but those who venture inside are rewarded with delicious food served hot and fresh.
Great little taco spot off Lake Street, definitely will return! Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and was very pleasantly satisfied. Got two shredded beef tacos that were delicious and stuffed with meat. Loaded with onion, cilantro and lime. The limes were big and super fresh and juicy (I love when a taco place has good limes!) My friend got the kids burrito which was a great size for a quick dinner, and the chips were good too. She also had the vegetarian tamale which was delicious - cheese, veggies, very moist, fresh, and the perfect amount of slight heat. Staff was really kind and let us swap the kids juice for a soda. This will be in my taco rotation for sure! That shredded beef was absolutely delicious.

Birria tacos were flavorful and juicy with a slightly crisp outer shell. Thank you!
Eve V — Google review
Favorite neighborhood taco place. Tasty tacos, good prices, fast service. They are experienced at packing for takeout, and it’s a smooth pickup process. Street tacos (meat, cilantro, red onion) are particularly good, especially with Barbacoa. Beans, sopes, and tortilla chips are good too. Quesabirria tacos (birria with melted cheese) are really good, but best eaten at the restaurant, hot from the grill (you lose the crunchiness of the fried taco with takeout) Restaurant setting is pretty basic
Raj V — Google review
My first time visiting this spot and was pretty impressed with the food and service. The parking was a little difficult, the lot is shared otherwise street parking is not too far. The menu offers many different types of protein including a vegan option, and customized toppings as you order. The drinks are also delicious. The seating area and kitchen are very clean and organized. Overall with the many options for Mexican food on lake Street this is one I will be coming back to.
Tanner F — Google review
Ordered two deluxe taco party packs (one with vegetarian tacos and another with meat tacos) for a meeting. The food arrived hot, at the time I requested, and it was delicious. The black bean and pinto bean tacos were flavorful and fresh and they don’t skimp on the fillings. I didn’t eat the meat tacos (barbacoa, tinga,) but the reviews from the group were stellar. The order also came with plentiful chips, sauces, and sides of beans and rice. I ordered online— note that the website only lets you order during opening hours (we ordered our lunch at 10:30 for a 12 noon delivery) but that wasn’t a problem. I highly recommend this place.
L J — Google review
Tacos were okay. I had Asada but it seemed like it was cut with some ground beef and not all steak. I ordered to go and when I opened the bag for some reason the Mexican coke bottle had a large section of congealed lard or fat on the bottom. It was really a mess. The service seems like they try and prepare more for to go orders than the customer in line. It isn't bad. I have been there before and had better. But today for almost $17 dollars I think about going elsewhere

I got the veggie burrito at this taco truck. The food had minimal seasoning and the burrito was wrapped very loose so it just fell apart. I was so hungry and I couldn’t even finish the burrito because it was so messy. And to top it off the coke I got was warm. Very disappointed. Would never visit again. Money down the drain.

Great take on Mexican cuisine, especially for a fancier night out. Went here for MPLS restaurant week, and they did not disappoint. We went with chips to start. They have such a variety of salsas, there's one for everybody. Next were shrimp tacos which were surprisingly filling, and finally the beef ribs which were some of the best ribs I'd had. The meat was tender and juicy, and the seasoning and char was a great combination. Good flavors, good spot!
James K — Google review
Overall. The food is great. It's not fine dining, but very good food for the price. A few critiques... 1. The steak tacos need help...the steak was cut into giant pieces...and very undercooked. It definitely needed a marinate and seasoning. Pineapple was a nice touch of flavor but the chunks were so big I had to eat the entire taco with a fork. I do love their blue corn tortillas. Flavorful and soft. The shrimp tacos are just okay. Corn is cold and they just add sour cream. I'd prefer an aioli of some sort. The chicken tinga tacos had phenomenal flavor in the chicken. You could taste that they boiled the chicken in flavor. The pork tacos had a touch of cinnamon..which was a nice surprise..but more than 2 bites is overwhelming. The ceviche was very good. Only recommendation is to Dice the shrimp and tomatoes smaller. Killer flavor and beautiful presentation. The guac was great although pretty average set up. Nice touch of added spice. Chips are solid..they had enough salt and hold up well to dipping. The rib entree was delicious. Cooked perfectly with some burnt edges. The salas is a but tangy but goes well with the mole based sauce. The atmosphere is okay. A cool urban feel with some old school Spanish decor. City chic dress wear or cool jeans works. The chocolate flan dessert was my favorite thing on the menu. Very unexpected way of serving flan. Yummy chocolate cake bottom and flan top. The caramel tasted homemade and was light and not as sweet as you'd think. This was the ultimate Spanish desert.

First time visiting and enjoyed it! Was bummed out they were out of ceviche. I thought it was clever that they serve you water out of El Jimador bottle. Salsa were good the Habanero being #1, Avocado-Serrano #2. Quesabirria was my favorite hands down the crispy cheese edges were 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥(5/5)! Had LOOONG piece of hair in shrimp tacos, which threw me off so they when they brought the remake it was already off-putting but I still wanted to give it a try and regret it; blue corn was soggy, 3 Big shrimp and sauced out 0/5. Elote Brussels were good as well (3/5). Sweet potatoes with the Vegan sour cream and Tajin was different but I enjoyed it (5/5)! They have one of my favorite tequilas (Dobel) and the Nueveo Old Fashioned & Pineapple margarita were great!
Reggie D — Google review
Awesome restaurant and patio! We got the quinoa salad and burger and both were delicious. The spicy smash burger was amazing… the brioche bun was excellent with crispy edges. The patties were perfectly cooked. The American cheese + jalapeño combo was delicious. But… this absolutely needed a Chipotle mayo or some kind of sauce to bring it over the edge.

The drinks were decent but the octopus dish is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in minnesota. Great balance of textures and flavors.

Don’t get the short ribs. We were told they would be tender. I have had short ribs elsewhere that have been fall off the bone amazing. Our two orders last night were not good. The meat was tough and there was much more fat that was also somewhat tough. It came in a massive portion (one huge rib literally hanging off the plate) and had pretty good flavor. I have been to this location a few times. Here’s what we have loved: - tacos especially birria and chicken tinga - chilaquiles are awesome - Cuban sandwich is super tasty - salsa flights and guacamole are both top notch - black beans and brussel sprouts we’re both very flavorful The waitress and service overall is great. Pricing is fair.

I had a pastor quesadilla & it had onions mixed in (can’t have them) yet when I picked them all out…it was DELICIOUS! I really would recommend they have prices posted on their truck so you know how much you’re paying. One star off for that yet I would recommend trying it. 😋

I would recommend to anyone unless you’re soulless and only eat potatoes, and maybe then I’d even still recommend. Great tacos, everyone was friendly. Plenty of parking. Tacos were ready quickly. Just five stars. Thanks! Note- I had one of each: asada, pollo, carnitas, pastor. All were excellent- topped with cilantro and onion served on a corn tortilla. Salsas we’re spicy and verde. Both were awesome.

This is my go to taco place. I even picked up tacos from here for my birthday because I love them so much! I lived in Guanajuato, Mexico for 5 years and can say the tacos and salsas here are authentic and delicious. I especially reccomend the pastor and asada tacos. They don't skimp on meat, verduras or salsas, and the tortillas don't fall apart while you're eating like they do at some other places I've been to. Highly reccomed!!!

A cute, hidden taco truck on the corner of Lake Street and Blaisdell. There are lots of parking spaces, but it can get full quickly as it is shared with folks using or going to other establishments around the area. I went around the golden hour (evening), and ordered asada (steak), pastor (marinated pork), and carnitas (pulled pork) tacos. Although somewhat busy, my order was made and ready in 5 minutes. The staff were very friendly and patience with my order. I need to polish my Spanish (note, they do speak English). The tacos were of good large portions. You can literally make one into two serving as each taco comes with two soft layers. These came with two different sauce, red and green, and they were very complimentary to the tacos. The meat were slightly dry, and tastefully mediocre. The sauce did add a good spicy touch and additional heat to the tacos. Our favorite was the pastor as you can taste more of the flavors and juiciness of the meat. We will return to try the tacos again and other menu items.

Los Ocampo Mexican Restaurant & Bar is a delightful culinary destination that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With an extensive menu featuring a variety of mouthwatering tacos, including crispy tripa and juicy chicken, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The horchata stands out with its perfect balance of cinnamon flavor without being overly sweet, making it a refreshing choice alongside the flavorful Chile de arbol chicken wings.
Great ambiance. We really enjoyed the patio and the waiters had quick service for taking our order and bringing our food. The weather was great outside, and we enjoyed that the patio emptied around 8pm and we had it to ourselves. Only downside was that our table was close to the door and got hit a couple times, the servers apologized and were amicable though, the patio can only accommodate a few tables. The food and drinks tasted great as well.
Sophia P — Google review
Los Ocampo was about as expected based on other reviews. It seemed a bit pricey for the portions, but the quality was solid! I got Tripa tacos + beans and rice (~$14.99) and churros (~$8.99). The restaurant appears to have different specials going on all the time. For example, the combo I got for $14.99 was a Monday special. The tacos were delicious and the sauce added a nice kick. I don’t believe the sauces are something they typically give out, as they asked us if we wanted any hot sauces and if so, which sauces we wanted (we asked for all 3). Churros were tasty! The customer service was lacking - it took a while to get waters, and when we were ready to order, our waitress wasn’t around to take our order (we didn’t even know the waitress was different from the hostess because we didn’t even see our waitress the entire time we were deciding on what to get). The hostess couldn’t answer a question we had about the food, either. They were otherwise nice and pleasant to interact with though. Overall, not bad at all. But for the effort it took to find parking and waiting to order a somewhat spendier meal, I’m not sure I would come here again anytime soon.
Sandy X — Google review
Unfortunately they lost our order, so my friend had to wait an extra 45 minutes to pick up our takeout. Then when we brought it home, the fajitas we ordered came with none of the sides, and no one got their salsas. What we did get tasted good, but I feel pretty ripped off.
Olivia L — Google review
The waiter we had was very good. A waiter who I’d tip even if we weren’t expected to in America. I ordered a chimichanga with chicken. The salad it came with was nice and rich. It had guac, which some places unfortunately don’t add. The Chimechanga tasted somewhat “round”, like the flavors were mildly homogenous, but it was still a great item. Not crispy by the way. The sauce tasted kind of just like a tomato sauce, possibly mildly altered; it wasn’t like a dedicated flavorful rich enchilada sauce. It didn’t include the Mexican white sauce which I love but rather had melted cheese on top. The sauces this place had were surprisingly unique and great. I haven’t had similar ones before. One was a mildly creamy chili pepper sauce. And another was a cool but spicy mildly guac sauce. I’d definitely recommend trying them. My friend ordered a quesadilla. The shell seemed homemade almost. It was thick and flavorful. Also, this place has an authentic, custom neon sign!!! I’m a BIG fan of huge authentic real neon signs.

I had three mexican tacos, horchata, and Chile de arbol chicken wings. Everything was delicious. Horchata was pleasantly more cinnamonny than I expected and it wasn't overly sweet, just like I like it. The tacos were all delicious! The tripa was crispy and soft, the chicken was juicy and nicely seasoned, and the floor de calabaza was flavorful and refreshing. They had a lot of taco options, more than a lot of restaurants, which makes it fun for coming back. They had a happy hour deal in which the tacos had a discount so our bill was also a happy number. Service was also great!

The servers at the St. Paul location are amazing!! But the bartender provides terrible service. It took him over 5min to acknowledge we sat down at the bar when there were only 3 other people at the bar. He forgot my husbands drink the first time, and we had to remind him. My food was supposed to come with tortillas and I asked for flour tortillas and repeated it to him 3 times because he kept getting distracted, but when my food arrived there were no tortillas. I mentioned this to him and he said they will be right out, and he brought out corn tortillas, after telling him multiple times that I chose flour. To get his attention took forever, because he couldn’t multi-task. He wiped his forehead and nose several times with his hand, the same hand he used to make drinks. Love everything else about the place, but the bartender brought it down for us.
