MUMS Great Comfort Food is a bright, retro-style diner in Edinburgh that serves traditional British fare with gourmet sausages. Located on Forrest Road, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, especially during the Fringe festivities. The cafe aims to provide top-notch food at affordable prices, using local produce and fresh organic ingredients.
We walked all over Edinburgh today and wanted some traditional Scottish food. What better place to visit than Mums Great Comfort Food! It was excellent!!!! We ordered bangers & mash, steak & ale pie, fried chicken burger w/Cajun spice & an egg, burger w/BBQ sauce & jalapeno, along with the Camembert app & Haggis app. That was the best Haggis I've ever had! It was so good that even my picky eater had some and went back for more. Everything was great and we were very grateful they were able to squeeze our large group in. I highly recommend the Haggis appetizer, the ale pie, and the bangers & mash.
Gretchen H — Google review
Everything we ordered tastes great. Like what others have said, if you never had haggis before, this is a nice place to start. It is less meaty and gamey than normal haggis. I think they mixed more oat inside as well, and they baked (?) the haggis instead of frying them, so the texture is more welcoming as well. We sat down at around 6pm on a Thursday evening so we didn’t have to wait. But it was fully seated by the time we left. Servers were really friendly too.

Loved this place. Great atmosphere: like an American diner (in the best way) with yummy Scottish food. Wait staff super polite and friendly. Good coffee. I had sausage and mash and Americano coffee. Aiming to go back soon! Update: second visit to Mum's was awesome. Per staff suggestion, I tried the steak stew - it was awesome. Such a filling, yummy meal. My wife was very happy with the coffee as well as her burger, too!
Steven R — Google review
We had our lunch here just before flighting back home and what a highlight it was! If we ever will visit Edinburgh again, that's a place where we will return. As soon we stepped in we received the warmest welcome. If you want a delicious food and a reason to smile - this place is for you! My son got his special burger and traditional sausage was possibly the best sausage we ever had. Simply amazing stuff, food and place!
Inese — Google review
Scottish food done well! Walked past this place near the university area. Decided to go in after reading through the reviews and seeing some of the pictures. Ordered the steak stew and it was good, would say the flavours would definitely be better if it had been cooked for longer. The mash was lovely, went really well with the stew. I'd say come here when it's not lunchtime to make sure you don't have to wait long! Very good and attentive service, would definitely recommend this for the pies as it smelled amazing and it seemed like the more popular choice amongst the other tables
Ke Z — Google review
A brilliant find! Would highly recommend this place - the staff were really friendly and accommodating- i went around 2ish and had to wait 15mins for a table but that wasn’t an issue - it is worth the wait and worth going back! I had the veggie haggis and it was delicious! Everyone’s food looked really yummy and is really well priced (Next time I’m trying the milkshakes!) - bonus they are dog friendly! Enjoy your visit!
M D — Google review
The food was fantastic, a real Scottish home cooking experience and generous portions. The staff was to be commended, warm, friendly, helpful and recommending, especially the waiter Niko who served us, extremely nice and gave us advice on sightseeing and visiting the surrounding places. Definitely visit when you are in Edinburgh.
Marina F — Google review
We came in with a big family and the staff was incredibly welcoming. They quickly moved tables around so we could all sit together, which we really appreciated. The food was great, and even our picky little eaters loved their meals! Comfortable atmosphere and wonderful service. Definitely recommend! 👏🍽️

Teuchters Landing is a charming pub located in the popular shore area of Leith. It's housed in an attractive stone building that was once a ferry terminal, adding to its historical charm. The pub offers a wide selection of whiskies and beers, making it a great spot for enthusiasts.
Hip dockside pub with elevated pub food and a very decent beer selection. Their QR code ordering system has its quirks (we were delivered the wrong beer) but otherwise the people are call and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. Like the tourists we are, we even had a whisky flight in the main bar after dinner - great fun.
Howard S — Google review
First time in Edinburgh and first time eating at Teuchters Landing. Reservations cannot be made, you just walk up to see if they have space, which they did in our case. We were a party of 8. You order and pay all your food and drinks through an app. It’s also possible to order and pay at the bar. Food was brought out pretty quickly and the service was friendly. All in all a very good experience.
Ditte I — Google review
Our first meal in Edinburgh and it’s so incredibly delicious. Possibly the best beef stew I’ve ever had. The seafood was really well handled as well. First time trying a Cullen skink, so good! There’s also a great variety of drinks to choose from. Additionally, the location was really lovely, the staffs were friendly and the food was served pretty fast.
Ellie H — Google review
As an independent estate and letting agent, I love to support the businesses in the local area I work. Teuchters Landing is an excellent example of a local business that attracts locals, those working nearby and tourists too ... and for good reason. The food and drinks are excellent, the service is great and the general atmosphere is welcoming to all. Highly recommended and one venue I regularly recommend to people moving into the area.
Sean M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic local venue. The food, drinks and atmosphere are fantastic every time, the staff are super accommodating for a walk in venue and have always managed to find us a table. They are also super dog friendly which is a huge bonus. The outdoor seating under the fair lights is wonderful and they have heaters and blankets for the winter. The spicy margs are also amazing!
Isabella W — Google review
Very good local pub with friendly staff. The food is great, tasty with huge portions, and served really quick. Lots of different rooms and big outdoor space.
APG P — Google review
Leith area does not offer much to see but some good venues to visit. We were lucky to find this restaurant&bar just before their kitchen closed. The waitress pushed us to be hurry but we choose two of the best foods from their menu which were calamari and fish&chips. They don't offer various beer options so we choosed 2 different IPAs which were good enough. Atmosphere is really nice to spend time with your friends. Prices are similar to most of the Edinburgh bars.
Hüseyin E — Google review
The food was excellent! We had the mussels and the fish & chips, and both were absolutely gorgeous. The only small thing we would have loved even more is if the tartare sauce with the fish & chips had been homemade — that would have taken it to the next level. But overall, everything was excellent, and the service was just as good. Highly recommended!

Lunch restaurant
Howies Restaurant offers a convivial and bright setting with a relaxed feel, serving Scottish cuisine made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The menu is labeled with non-gluten containing ingredients and features traditional Scottish dishes like smoked salmon, chicken casserole, and poached rhubarb. They also offer lunch and dinner deals with 2 courses for a set price.
If you are looking for a private dining room for up to 30 people look no further than Howies. We have just celebrated my husband’s special birthday there with our friends and family and everything was excellent. We had great communication before the event and they catered for my every whim. The food, the staff and the venue were just fantastic. We have had many events at Howies and we have always been very happy. From the moment our guests arrived they were offered a drink and throughout the night the team were very attentive. Thank you so much to everyone involved.

Dinner with family in this nice place. People took care of us quickly and we were also able to anticipate looking to menu prior to the dinner. Decent level of choice. We have been served quickly for starters, a bit slower for the mains and we saw everything accelerating when the deadline of 22h14 was coming. The place is nice but a bit noisy especially when you are close to a US family 😀 Nice plates, well cooked with enough in the plate. People have been really nice. A very good place
Ludovic A — Google review
The two of us went on Thursday evening. We had a reservation. The place is packed with many people waiting inside and outside. We had the venison casserole, the catch of the day, a side salad and two glasses of wine. The service we experienced was two stars at best. No greeting or recommendations and felt completely overwhelmed. We felt sorry for the waiter who seemed to be being scolded by the manager. Food was tasty but nothing special. Not sure why this is TripAdvisor "best of best," we don't get the popularity of this place. Not worth 82 pounds we paid.
C I — Google review
Fantastic experience! The food and service were both excellent. I tried haggis for the first time and absolutely loved it — full of flavor and surprisingly delicious. The steak was also cooked perfectly. We went for the lunch courses, and it was great value for the quality and portion size. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Scottish food and friendly service!
Xuanpei O — Google review
We had a lovely meal at Howie's on our recent trip to Edinburgh. The 2-course special was an excellent value with your choice of either a starter and a main, or a main and a dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed the chicken supreme, but the Scottish Salmon was incredible. Our party also raved over the venison & beet root casserole. The venison was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender! An outstanding meal and excellent service. We world definitely return on our next excursion to Edinburgh.
Andrew P — Google review
We had a wonderful dining experience at Howies Scottish Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of authentic Scottish flavor. Every dish we tried was cooked perfectly and served hot. The service made our visit even better. Our waitress was warm, friendly, and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. She gave great recommendations and made us feel truly welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed — a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family. We left very satisfied and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Edinburgh and looking for genuine Scottish hospitality and great food.
Job R — Google review
My nephew wishes to try the traditional Scottish food in his first time visit to Edinburgh. This restaurant is so popular that we almost lost the hope in getting a table 24hrs before. Thanks to the reception lady we are finally here. We tried the Haggis, Cullen skink, Venison casserole, beef cheeks, and the Toffee cake. He loves the food especially the haggis🤣. The restaurant is welcoming and crowded. Thanks to the happy staff that gave us a good dining experience.
Z K — Google review
We didn't get inside the first night, so we made a reservation for the next one that night. I definitely recommend a reservation, because we usually saw a line of people in front of the restaurant. The welcome and service were very nice and attentive. We were two vegans and all in all, the soup tasted amazing, but the risotto and desserts were unfortunately without imagination and special flavors. Maybe non-vegan dishes taste better, I don't know. We experienced it, we are grateful for it, but it wasn't that much of a gastronomic experience.

Milly, really appreciate and enjoyed your service!!! Excellent choices of whiskey and great choices of veggie burgers. Thank you all for an amazing experience!! Milly, it was great seeing how you served everyone with smile. Very quality food specially vegetarian burger. Thank you team. Definitely a place for everyone to try!!

Nice burger with a tasty patty, but the bun was too dry for my liking. The overall flavor was good, though nothing exceptional. It’s also quite overpriced for what you get. Worth a try if you’re nearby, but not something I’d go out of my way for.
Jiwon K — Google review
Super cute little bar and grill! All of the burgers were specialty. For instance mine had goat cheese and crushed walnuts on it. The sweet potato fries were good and we selected three dipping sauces. But the drinks. . . Quite probably the spiciest margarita I have ever had!!! So good!
Susan W — Google review
We visited here as a recommendation and it did not disappoint!! Ben was our waiter and gets special praise - he was friendly, respectful and couldn’t help us enough. The food was amazing. Burger of the Day was Greek orientated and very tasty, cooked perfectly. The Scottish dirty fried with Haggis was really filling, pretty peppery but tasty. I’d go again. In fact I’d go to Edinburgh just to go here!!

This place is pretty dang lit. The buffalo wings come as whole wings and the sauce is authentic as you'd want, with a smoky undertone fit for the Islay country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The missus and I shared it all and the kitchen plated our Independence Burger beautifully set up for two people. Our server Zayn was an absolute legend and walked us right through the menu, catering to what we were looking for. And if you like battered food, go for at least one thing on the menu 🫧 Overall good, a bit spenny, and right by great other destinations to keep you seeing as much as possible in Edinburgh ❤️

We loved Burgers & Brews. Very creative menu. Very good local draught beer options. Wonderfully attentive staff. Very relaxed atmosphere. Get the Tater Tots. Seriously, if you love Tater Tots, order a side of Tater Tots here! Also, my wife says they make a wonderful cup of tea, for after dinner.

Absolutely amazing food. The flying Scotsman with the haggis (which you can’t even taste) was not only delicious but gigantic. Also had the mango & jalapeño and sweet chili wings. They were huge wings, fall off the bone tender. Sides we had were sweet potato fries and coleslaw both were amazing. Drinks: cherries and berries cider was amazing as well. Would highly highly recommend this place and will come back again and definitely eat here.

Beautiful and cozy ambience. Very friendly and attentive staff. Didn't have to wait long for food either. Very busy restaurant in the heart of royal mile. So better to book a table in advance. Food was very tasty. Got grilled chicken burger, it had a wonderful smoky taste. Was very tasty. Dessert was very tasty too. Menu has vegetarian options as well. Good non alcoholic drink options as well.

Outstanding dining experience We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch — the food was exceptional, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The desserts were particularly impressive, a perfect end to a memorable meal. Service was impeccable. A special mention to our waiter, Catalin, who truly elevated the experience. Always smiling, attentive, and highly knowledgeable about the menu, he guided us with clarity and enthusiasm. An overall five-star experience in every aspect — food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience at Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Edinburgh. I ordered the 9oz 30-day aged rump steak, and it was absolutely incredible – cooked to perfection, full of flavour and delicious. The quality of the steak really stood out, and every bite was a delight. The service was equally impressive – friendly, attentive, and professional, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. The staff really went the extra mile to ensure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Miller & Carter to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Whether you’re a steak lover or just looking for a top-class dining experience, this place is a must-visit!

She really made our evening so enjoyable. Thank you for such wonderful service/experience – we’ll definitely be back!

If you desire superb food and atmosphere, then this place to go but be sure to book a table. It's located in the city center not far from the Scott monument. From the first moment we felt welcome and the place has a nice and calm atmosphere. We celebrated our anniversary there and both of us had the wagyu steak for our main course. You can choose from several different side orders. All to your choosing. The steak was perfectly prepared to our liking. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and service minded. Truly a place to recommend.
Kjetil L — Google review
Our third time visiting and sad to say after this experience it will be our last . The food was sub par at best . Hubby enjoyed his starter of calamari. My starter of cheesy baked mushrooms was just plain and simply bland and cold congealed cheese on top. The cold bread didn’t add much to the dish and no amount of salt and pepper was saving those mushrooms . Now the mains . Steak sandwich for hubby he struggled to eat as the onion loaf on it had sat far too long under the hot lights . I had the same onion loaf on my ribeye plate . Said ribeye was the fattest piece of steak I’ve ever eaten and yes I understand it’s a fattier cut but having had ribeye the last 2 times it’s never been like that . But the best meal of the day was my sons who’s birthday we we’re celebrating. He had the Mac and cheese and adding a side of fries later after we’d ordered was no problem to our fabulous server . Service great 10/10 food 3/10
Sarah B — Google review
I had the fish for my main, super fresh, perfectly seasoned, and it just melted in my mouth. The medium rare steak was cooked exactly right, juicy, tender, and beautifully pink in the middle. The starters were also really good. But the real surprise was the dessert – absolutely massive! The prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
Marta K — Google review
It’s an ok place, service could be a bit better and table could be cleaner. Food was lovely but not outstanding. Starters - calamari and sticky chicken - would recommend the calamari over the chicken Mains - steak and fish & chips - both good Dessert - white chocolate brûlée and profiteroles - both delicious

I highly recommend! 10/10 There were 2 of us annd we ordered the à la carte menu. All the options were excellent. The atmosphere was phenomenal, and the waiters were always attentive. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money and with good gluten-free options. Up there with the best meals I've had! I had the fillet with veggies. Amazing!

What a little gem!! Outstanding staff, FABULOUS Cocktails, DELICIOUS menu! At first sight you might not think much of it more than a quirky, charming neighborhood pub… but then your greeted by the staff (even when busy they engage you and are thoughtful of your needs) … and maybe first look at the menu and you might think “aw just a pub grub menu” but THEN the food arrives and WOW - rich, flavorful, specialties made in house, and huge portions! Plus at extremely reasonable prices for the usual current cost of meals out! And can’t forget their “Pot-Tails” , creative cocktail menu with some fabulous concoctions that go down to deliciously easy!! Super impressed with this little hidden gem and will be back!!!

Very cute, laid back place with incredible food! The little soup was delicious as were the smoked fishcakes. I love the unique decor and the staff were really lovely. Would definitely come back!

I was at the Roseleaf on 02/11/25 with my wife and a couple of friends. We were there for some food and drinks and booked a table for 1300hrs. I am a local and have been here many times and as usual, everything was fantastic. Despite it being a busy Sunday lunchtime, the service was quick and courteous, the food excellent and the Guinness top notch. I had the McLeith burger, but with no bun or chips, 4 poached eggs and extra bacon (see photo). My friend had double bacon and 4 poached eggs, my wife the veggie burger and my friend’s wife the Sunday roast. All our meals were excellent, and my friend and I are especially appreciative of the flexibility of the chefs in providing us with meals which were low carb adapted. My friend’s wife also made particular comments about how tasty and well cooked her pork belly was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It’s a local institution which contributes hugely to the food and beverage scene at The Shore, Leith.

I really loved this space. The ambiance was very romantic (even though I was there by myself, lol) I was able to sneak in last minute (around 8pm) for dinner and a drink. And it was still quite busy, so clearly a popular spot. The drinks were super unique, mine was a play on the classic margarita and it was DELICIOUS. My burger was perfectly cooked, the fries were tasty, and OH MY GOODNESS this cake. Seriously. The cake. What a way to end my trip.

I’ve been a big fan of Roseleaf ever since I moved to Leith in 2024 but tonight I’m compelled to write this review because the pumpkin spice cheesecake is the best thing I’ve put in my mouth. You cannot go wrong with the food, the drinks and the tea pot cocktails! The staff are always friendly and make you feel at home. Honestly best spot in Edinburgh!

I really cannot express how impressed I was with this meal. We were a party of 4, who all chose different starters, mains and deserts from the menu. The quality and presentation of all dishes was exceptional. It was a very busy Friday evening and the staff were extremely efficient, but were also very polite and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to this venue (Tony Singh and Phil Rosenthal were also suitably impressed - as seen on the Nerflix Series "Somebody Feed Phil").

Cosy little pub offering great food. We tried the scotch eggs, Cullen skink and chicken pie. Everything was delicious. The Cullen skink was the best we tried from many different restaurants.

Such a great little place!!! We came here kinda on whim. We were trying to go somewhere else and it was all booked up. We came here, got two seats at the bar (apparently the some "somebody feed Phil" was filmed here and we sat where he sat!!!!! Exciting). We sat down, and was immediately greeted by amazing service. He was amazingly informative about the food, the drinks, the area, the history, and literally anything we asked about! We got the hummus, Mac and cheese, and risotto (gluten free). They have gluten free bread and many other GF options. Kitchen is small and so cross contamination can happen so keep that in mind. The food was amazing! Loved everything about this place on general! Great building an aesthetics. Go here! Especially if you have watch the somebody feed Phil episode on Scotland... Or of you want really good food and very friendly service!

Italian restaurant

Cafe
La Locanda Edinburgh is a charming Italian restaurant located just off The Royal Mile on Cockburn Street. It offers an intimate setting surrounded by wine bottles and also provides outdoor seating. The restaurant serves up classic Italian and café fare with its own unique twist, offering traditional recipes packed with flavor.
A truly fabulous dining experience from start to finish. La Locanda on Cockburn Street continues to impress with its warm, inviting atmosphere, exceptional food, and attentive, friendly service. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. It’s a very small, intimate restaurant, which adds to its charm—but it does mean you need to book in advance to avoid disappointment. For drinks, I enjoyed a lovely glass of red wine with my meal. My husband started with a Limoncello cocktail—zesty and vibrant—followed later by a fine whisky to round off the evening. Our starters were both from the specials menu: I had the Trio di Crostini—a delicious variety of flavours and textures—while my husband chose the Arancini, perfectly crisp on the outside and creamy within. For mains, I had the Ravioli, rich and delicately balanced, and he went for the Lasagne, a hearty, flavourful classic. We finished with desserts: Tiramisu for me and Panna Cotta for him. Both were absolutely delicious—we were already halfway through before we remembered to take any photos! Having dined here before, we returned with high expectations—and once again, La Locanda did not disappoint. A real gem in the heart of Edinburgh, and one we’ll happily return to time and again.

Best lasagna I’ve ever had. Homemade noodles. From USA and this place in Scotland was amazing. Food came out piping hot which I love

Best pasta I ever had. I took the main of the day, pasta all' amatriciana. The sauce was amazing. There was a strong flavor of tomato with a spicy touch that was perfect! And the pork was so crispy! If I ever come back to Edinburgh I will eat here again for sure!
Stacy G — Google review
Absolutely marvellous... I'd highly recommend this place. The food was delicious, the staff were great and they serve some exceptional Grappa! The BEST meal of our long weekend break in the city.
H — Google review
The pasta I had was delicious, the sauce had lots of flavor, the meatballs were excellent, and the service was great. I didn't have a reservation, which I'm sure can be a problem during the high tourist season since the seating area is quite limited, but thankfully when I got there, I was seated right away. The prices did seem a bit high, but this is a very nice restaurant located in the old town, so it was what I expected in this situation. There is a 12.5% gratuity fee added to your bill. The wait staff were very kind, and when I had to leave early due to a bad headache, they put my food in a to to container and showed concern about my well-being, which was greatly appreciated. I would recommend this restaurant!

A wonderful little spot for an evening dinner. Indoor-reservation only, outdoor-no reservations needed. The food was incredible, I'll be dreaming about their pasta and tiramisu for years to come. Servers were very kind and prompt. Highly recommend. Photo is of the view across the street.

Tasty food and decent service, but prices are a bit high. The place is comfortable though not remarkable. Great if you’re after good Italian cuisine, less so if you’re watching your budget. Breakdown: 🍝 Food: 8/10 💰 Price: 3/10 👨‍🍳 Service: 7/10 🏠 Space: 6/10

Great food here and staff are very friendly! The price is a little bit high (12.5% service fee) but it is acceptable considering the location, food quality and the service. Tiramisu is highly recommended!

Mamma's American Pizza is a vibrant pizzeria located in Edinburgh, known for its extensive menu featuring over 40 toppings and gluten-free options. Unlike traditional Italian pizzerias, Mamma's offers a bright US-style atmosphere with outdoor seating. It has been recognized as the best pizzeria in the UK and is a popular spot on the Grassmarket.
A Perfect Family Lunch in the Heart of Edinburgh! We stopped here during our Big Bus Tour with our kids — and it was absolutely the right choice. The pizzas were fresh, delicious, and generously topped — the one with rocket and spicy sauce was a particular highlight! The kids loved the fries and burgers, and the service was both quick and friendly. The colorful and fun interior added a playful vibe, making the whole experience enjoyable for both adults and children. It’s hard to find a place where the whole family leaves full and happy — this was one of those rare spots. Highly recommended for families visiting Edinburgh who are looking for good food, big portions, and a relaxed atmosphere. 📍 Family-friendly | Great service | Large portions | Casual & fun ambiance

Walking back to my air BNB and Mamma's was just a few doors down. Ordered a large carryout two topping pizza. At the moment I'm sorry to say I'm an American and have eaten a lot of pizza this was "okay". I had a couple of slices left over and had them cold the next morning. I enjoyed it more cold the next day! Service was good and there were several tables available if I were have stayed.

Mamma's came highly recommended to us from a local resident and we are glad we listened!Absolutely loved our experience here for supper the other night. Weather was lovely so we were able to sit outside and chat with some of the other patrons. The pizza was outstanding and the owner was lovely! We came at a very busy time so the server was visibly a little overwhelmed, but despite that, she was wonderful and provided very attentive service as quickly as she could which I think is much in her credit.

The services was good: the lady was checking is everything was okay and she was sweet. BUT the food…have not seen before this: the lasagna was swimming in fat (super disgusting) and the garlic bread: was more butter than bread. Was a really shame

Diner
Paradise Palms in Edinburgh is a vibrant and inclusive venue that offers imaginative vegetarian dining, an on-site record store, and a lively bar. The space serves as an LGBTQ+ community hub, hosting various events, talks, and club nights. With its neon lighting and hanging baskets of flowers, the venue boasts a neo-futuristic look that matches its forward-thinking mission.
I absolutely adored this quirky bar and restaurant! Our group had a fantastic time sampling the appetizers, each bursting with unique flavors, from the crispy cauliflower bites and the savory pickled spears. We also indulged in their burgers, which were so delicious! The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a night out. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a fun and delicious dining experience!
Chrisleah A — Google review
We visited here as part of a vegan meetup to try the new menu offerings. The venue has a good vibe & loads of really tasty beverages on offer - I highly recommend their cocktails. There were 12 of us in attendance, & the team did really well at getting our food out to us all at the same time. Their menu mostly consists of vegan/veggie fried chicken, served in various configurations. Between us I think we managed to cover most of their menu - between us we agreed that the vegan fried chicken is amazing; a really good texture, flavour, & is not too oily. However, the vegan Mac & cheese leaves something to be desired - the flavour was ok (it's a Cajun take on Mac & cheese), but the texture was subpar; it was rather overcooked pasta with a very watery sauce. The way that the Mac & cheese is presented makes you think that it has been baked, but this was really not the case. This was the main let down of the meal, especially when other venues in the city have set the bar quite high. On the whole the portion sizes were good, burgers well constructed, & side dishes were really good. I would recommend a visit, it's a great venue close to the city attractions & show venues, & has a welcoming team.

Service was less friendly than all the other places we've been in Edinburgh. I thought the food was very oily. I had the tacos and they did taste good but I didn't feel great after eating them due to being greasy. The margaritas were yummy but pricey. Nachos were mediocre.

ALWAYS recommend Paradise Palms! the BEST LGBTQ+ space in Edi as it serves itself to be a fantastic social space (great cocktails, abundant events) and also a cosy eatery (delicious food as pictured - totally recommend the fried cauliflower! 🤤) A must for any Queer Folks looking for something to do in a quirky spot in Edi xxx
Heather R — Google review
In our 3-day stay, we went there twice, because we were really fascinated by the place and its menu that is completely vegan. The chips were a bit overseasoned in my opinion but that's subjective.
Mathis — Google review
It’s a cool bar but I think Google must change the name from restaurant. It’s literally a plastic laminated tiny page with only fried stuff. I am glad they only serve vegan food but if someone is trying to find a vegan place to have a proper dinner that’s not the place to go, it’s just deep fried junk stuff. I don’t know why it’s called a restaurant on the map. They have cool design and lots of cocktails etc it’s def a bar. Also quite expensive just for this junk food, not a real meal. I guess go if you want a bar for lgbtq community but honestly I wish the quality of food was there as well or just rebrand it as a bar not a place to eat.
M — Google review
Super cute place, loved the very inclusive vibes and the great music. Service for food is quite slow, but the all vegan food is very delicious, a bit spicy but tasty! Had a smash burger and fries and was very happy afterwards. Fantastic cocktails as well. Reservation are recommended as it is quite busy and the tables are limited.

Over hyped to be honest. Bit of a grubby place. Had big expectations, but let down on the basics. If you are looking for vegi and vegan, head to Rabbit Munch/Meadow's Tap.

Great chai latte, great prices considering the location, and all of the food was tasty and well portioned. I went with two other people, I had the chicken curry which was way bigger than i expected and really delicious. My father had the tomato soup and sandwich (pictured) and really enjoyed it. We sat outside and we were very comfortable and service was great. I've recommended this cafe to friends and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for a nice lunch in Edinburgh.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised by this amazing place. The owner is so kind and has great customer service. Helped me decide what to get and I was very impressed by the flavor in their soup and pastry. Very hearty and healthy. Makes you feel at home. Pairs great with the Edinburgh weather and vibe. Wonderful experience all around. Price is incredibly good as well.

Wonderful soup! My mouth is watering just thinking back to it... Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options available! Wonderful gem of a cafe! Highly recommend for its delicious soup options, made in house and presented nicely, with a good price point. The staff was very friendly and a nice area to sit inside or out. The cafe is quiet respite from the bustle of the main touristy area establishments. Definitely worth a visit anytime you're on Edinburgh!

Tupiniquim is a cozy kiosk located in Edinburgh's Quartermile, offering a delightful selection of gluten-free Brazilian crepes and freshly squeezed juices. Run by the husband and wife team, Fernando and Gardenia, this charming spot is housed in one of the original police boxes. Their menu features an array of savory and sweet crepes made with a unique batter consisting of tapioca starch, rice, maize, potato, and buckwheat flour.
This savoury Brazilian Crepe was absolutely gorgeous! Had the spicy ratatouille crepe with a mixture of goats cheese and mozzarella - really fantastic, best thing I've tried for a while! If I lived in Edinburgh, I'd want to come here everyday to try everything on the menu. Also it's perfect for people with coeliac disease, as everything is naturally gluten-free, so I felt very safe eating here. Definitely recommend, and I will return next time I'm in Edinburgh. Delicious!

Ok literally this place rocks! I was just looking for some gluten free friendly lunch places, and this place (a shack on the sidewalk) serves up AMAZING crepes it was just perfect for us. The people working here are friendly and so nice and clearly passionate about their food! Keep in mind, it's literally one person cooking, so if it's busy it may take a while to get your food but it's delicious and well worth the wait. There were plenty of little tables and benches around outside to sit at as well!

Leith Depot is a popular independent venue in Edinburgh, known for its laid-back atmosphere and live music events. The pub offers a comfort food menu with vegan options and hosts fortnightly folk sessions on Sundays in the downstairs bar. Upstairs, ticketed events take place every night of the week, featuring hand-picked local musicians. The venue also hosts a Wednesday comedy club and weekend acts at mid-week shows.
Here for Fight Robots Fight 10th anniversary gig, with Guns At Brunch, and Rhuari Campbell (Slow For A Poet). Excellent venue, with local beer, nice staff, great atmosphere. I really enjoyed it here, and from the people I spoke to - so did everyone else :) Highly recommend. I'll be back - definitely. (Btw - I very very very rarely leave a review).

The food was nice, although not much of a selection, mainly fish or a burger. A lot of the choices were beer battered. The dessert menu for adults was either a cheese board or beer fried mars bar with a shot of buckfast. The service was quick and friendly and a nice pub lunch atmosphere.

Went to see a gig (brilliant btw) so only had bottled beers (which were good). Nice venue if you don't mind standing. There was zero ventilation or air conditioning, luckily the emergency door was opened at some point.

Place: It’s a bit on the small side, and seating can feel a little tight, but overall it’s a pleasant and cozy spot. Service: The staff were genuinely lovely — super friendly and really accommodating. Everyone in our group mentioned how kind and attentive the servers were. Food: The halloumi and avocado salad was fantastic — fresh and full of flavour. I tried the Korean filthy chips, which turned out to be more like thick potato wedges. They weren’t bad, just not quite what I expected. Prices: Very fair pricing for both the quality and portion sizes. Conclusion: A great little place that I’d happily visit again.

Feckin Leithal spot hai. Food was pure class, myself and the ball and chain got the Big cheese burger and the firecracker cauliflower. Staff looked after my allergy very well. All in all, a great spot, would definetly recommend.

Place: Small space and tight quarters but a nice spot overall. Service: Super friendly staff, very accommodating - our whole crew commented on it afterwards just how sweet the servers were here. Food: Excellent - the halloumi and avocado salad was perfect. I had the Korean filthy chips, likely wouldn't order that again as they were more of a wedge / bigger potato pieces. Not bad just not what we anticipated. Prices: Well priced, especially for the quantity and quality. Conclusion: Nice restaurant that I would absolutely come back to.

Was here for an event then a late lunch. Their function room can perhaps comfortably house 30 people at most. It can get a bit stuffy, even in the winter months. On a Sunday, their kitchen may close at either 3 or 4 pm, check with bar staff. Also you probably want to reserve a table as the local demand varies. On the day friends and I decided to stay for a late lunch, staff were accommodating even though our numbers changed a couple times. It wasn’t busy though, mind. I went for their veggie breakfast with scrambled eggs. Even though it took a while to arrive, it arrived hot and nicely cooked. I particularly enjoyed their veggie haggis. Will be back to try other things on the menu. Friendly service.
S W — Google review
The food here exceeds any expectations of pub food. The Syrian aubergine dish is out of this world, and it goes very well with the halloumi avocado pomegranate salad. Super wholesome, filling, delicious and beautifully colourful. Lovely meal and also lovely staff who are friendly and chatty.
