Bakery
Coffee shop
Twelve Triangles is a charming café with a lively ambiance, known for its delectable espresso drinks, donuts, and an array of sweet and savory pastries. With multiple locations in Edinburgh such as Brunswick and Portobello, this cozy spot prides itself on crafting slow-fermented sourdough and handmade pastries using a meticulous three to four-day process.
This place is fantastic. It has a cozy vibe. The women who work there are competent and caring. The pastries are top level, as is the coffee. The menu is small and features a good mix of sandwiches, vegetarian items, breakfast items, and pastries. Seasoning is perfect. It was so good that we went back a second day on our three day visit.
Josh W — Google review
Twelve Triangles is a small, take out/ take away bakery that's worth the short walk from the more touristy part of Edinburgh. We tried a plain croissant, a blackcurrant pistachio croissant (yum!!!), and a millionaire's shortbread. The croissants were excellent! I don't know much about millionaire's shortbread, but it was fresh and loaded with goey caramel. Everything in the display case looked good. Had time permitted, we would have stopped here again while visiting Edinburgh. Don't be intimidated if there's a line outside. It's inevitable due to the very limited space inside of the bakery. I didn't wait any longer than I would have at a typical bakery with more indoor space.

Popped by recently on a Sunday morning while on a weekend break to Edinburgh! I liked being able to see the pastries in the window, in order to decide what you want before going into the tiny store! The staff were really warm and welcoming, and advised on the products they enjoy. I picked up the Hazelnut Pain au Chocolat and a Pain Suisse. Both pastries looked stunning. I decided to save the Pain Suisse for a later day, but ate the Pain au Chocolat shortly after purchasing. This was really tasty! The pastry itself had a nice amount of crunch and squish, though I would have liked a little more crunch. The hazelnut frangipane through the centre was super flavourful and there was just the right amount! The chocolate through the middle was of a good quality but slightly overpowered the hazelnut when consuming both simultaneously. Regardless, this was a very good pastry and I would purchase it again! I'd recommend twelve triangles based on this bake. However, I must note that my friend got the pistachio blackcurrant croissant, and could not taste any pistachio! Update - I heated the Cross Laminated Pain Suisse from frozen - this was absolutely incredible! The filling was a perfect balance of vanilla creme and chocolate chips (which cut the sweeteness perfectly). Even though I had frozen the product, it was still super buttery and I got a good crisp all the way around. One of the best pain suisse I have ever had - highly recommend!
Yasmin J — Google review
Tried the pistachio bramble croissant. Pastry was nice and flakey and well filled with bramble flavor. The pistachio flavor didn't really come through. Millionaire shortbread was delicious.
Vivian A — Google review
Crispy pain au chocolate. Always hard to find, because often they are so soft. Could have had a bit more chocolate if you ask me, but that’s my personal preference. The price is a bit on the high end. Not really a place to sit inside, it’s grab and go.
Soraia A — Google review
Great breakfast place. Good selection of caffeine free teas. Limited pastry selection but whatever we had was amazing. The location is in a peaceful serene neighborhood. Staff are sooooo friendly and gave me great bookstore recommendations as I told them I am interested in books
Sindhuja S — Google review
Amazing spot for pasties and coffee. Staff were so friendly and helpful and there was a wide range of food on offer. Exceptional quality for a great price- will definitely come again! :)

I genuinely never thought I'd find myself dedicating time to reviewing a pastry shop, but here we are. Consider this a necessary public service announcement for anyone contemplating a visit to Twelve Triangles on Brunswick Street. My recent attempt to procure two humble scones en route to a toddler's play date became an impromptu masterclass in abysmal customer service. Pushing a pram and being unable to enter, I committed the grave error of trying to signal my order through the display window. The two members of staff responded by looking at me as though I had just materialised from the far side of the solar system. Finding no divine intervention forthcoming, I was forced to leave the pram outside and nip in, propping the door open to assure my little one I hadn't abandoned ship. I asked for my order: one savoury scone and one sweet scone. The lady serving me proceeded to achieve the seemingly impossible task of packing two completely different flavour profiles into the same tiny bag. When I politely asked if she could separate them, as one was not mine, she escalated the situation. She grabbed a second bag, placed it on top of the first one, and then tried to hand over the entire, still-unseparated stack. Still holding the door with one hand, I clarified that I needed them split. The sheer effort of performing this basic duty was met with a dramatic ocular performance that came perilously close to a full eye-roll. Whatever happened to basic customer service? Firstly, unless requested, don't pack radically different items together. Secondly, don't try forcing your paying customers to coach you through the simplest parts of your job. That said, the service drama was almost preferable to the pastries themselves. Gone, apparently, are the halcyon days when Twelve Triangles delivered anything remotely "exceptional." The scones were an exercise in stodgy disappointment, utterly underwhelming. I can say, with confidence, that a certain budget supermarket would likely deliver a more inspired baked good. Next time I crave a pastry, I shall certainly remember to redirect my custom - and my precious toddler-wrangling time - to the reliably excellent L'Angelou, Söderberg, or Lannan. Twelve Triangles..... Do try to be better.

Bakery
Nestled on Clerk Street in the heart of Edinburgh, The Wee Boulangerie is a delightful French-inspired artisanal bakery that has been enchanting locals and visitors alike since its inception in 2012. Founded by Katia Lebart, who honed her skills as a boulangere in France, this charming establishment specializes in crafting an array of delicious breads and baked goods using traditional methods influenced by baking cultures from Scotland to Scandinavia.
Got the heather rye sourdough and it was delicious, especially with the added seeds and stuff. I don’t have to make long trips to M&S for my bread anymore.
Gladys T — Google review
The wee Boulangerie has a distinct taste, i assume they do all the techniques that the French do but there is always a different taste, i like to imagine it’s the scottish flair. They are nice light & buttery but don’t expect a true french pastry. Staff are friendly enough but they don’t like when you don’t know what your having - maybe this su due to the small store size and stop other customers, so look ahead at their selection.
Alisha C — Google review
The most DELICIOUS loaf of bread I've ever had! The sweetest service, she helped me choose the loaf that ended up being so crazy yummy! The cutest wee shop, can't recommend it enough!
Sparklyclarke — Google review
they finish baking at 930am everyday, wait for it to cool and start serving at 10am. Some of the items are out at 845 tho, though not the whole selection The sourdough baguette has too much of a bite for me, it's very crusty. If you slice it I think it's going to be pleasant Croissants were somewhat chewy, not the super flaky kind. Nothing particularly wrong, it's decent
Yizhou W — Google review
Excellent bakery. Bread is wonderful, and the croissants and pain au chocolat are amazing. The staff is extremely nice and friendly.
Bruno M — Google review
Couldn’t refrain from entering this bakery just because they finished baking some bread as we entered. The pastries were delicious, airy, soft and tasty. I got the chocolate bun. I loved the fact that you can see the big bags of flours they use to make the bread.
Alessandra D — Google review
Bread of heaven; bread of heaven; feed me till I want no more!! Bought a still-warm country loaf this morning, wow it’s good. Lovely place, what more can you ask for? Newington is blessed to have The Wee Boulangerie. No excuses to get your bread from a certain supermarket across the road ;)
Henry W — Google review
This is a great little bakery but they can run out of some of the favourite stock pretty quickly. I’d plan on getting there reasonably early or preordering (they’ll hold onto things for you) I’m a particular fan of their pain au lait. They’re a real treat.

Cuckoo's Bakery Café is a charming artisan cupcake bakery and tearoom known for its traditional and exotic flavors. Founded by friends Vidya Sarjoo and Graham Savage, this delightful spot has gained popularity for its picture-perfect and delicious cupcakes. The bakery's team of bakers works tirelessly to create exciting weekly specials alongside classic offerings like the award-winning white chocolate and raspberry cupcake.
Quaint and quiet little cafe with some of the nicest staff you will meet. They have a fantastic selection of cupcakes and various other baked goods such as scones, cake slices as well as soup of the day and a variety of hot drinks. The Lemon Berry cupcake was zesty with a fresh berry centre that wasn't too sharp at all.

A great place for coffee and cake ! We frequent Cuckoo’s at Bruntsfield on a regular basis so were pleased to try out this outlet and see the larger menu . This café is table service unlike other Cuckoo’s, a sign would be helpful as most customers stood a while in a queue to then be told to take a table. Staff were pleasant and cafe warm and welcoming so we Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area, we will be back.

Nipped in to use the facilities on my way towards the Botanic Garden, bought a delicious flat white. I was served by a delightful woman, who was helpful with a smile. The cakes and pastries on offer looked very yummy indeed. Loos were in tip top condition.

What a great discovery close to Edinburgh's city center! Lovely music, ambiance and service, not to mention the delicious cupcakes and cappuccino! I will definitely come back during my stay in the capital.

These cupcakes are a MUST. If you're in the area or if you're not, still make time to check this bakery: you'll find the kindest staff, a warm set-up and a great choice of delicious sweets.

Cuckoo's did a lovely job on our elopement cake. They delivered on time, communicated promptly and well. The cake was beautifully decorated in just the way we had requested. They even did a bespoke flavor for us, elderflower sponge and buttercream with blackberry jam filling and it was delicious. Thank you so much for nailing this special part of our day 💕

Amazing! We stumbled into this GEM of a bakery! We were looking for a breakfast spot and this is everything we were dreaming of. We got two pots of tea (blue lady and earl gray), the heated herb scone, the bacon roll, the vegetable egg muddle, tomato egg muddle, and three cupcakes (take away). Everything was exceptional, I definitely recommend!!
Caroline V — Google review
Sweet little spot for a tea and cupcake! The staff was lovely and the service was quite quick. Definitely a nice spot to sit in and enjoy your drink. I had the red velvet cupcake, and saw they offer a couple of gluten free options as well. Nice to be able to invite friends who aren't able to take part at most spots. Would certainly reccomend.

The Sicilian Pastry Shop is a small, traditional family-run bakery located on Albert Street in Edinburgh. It's known for its delicious pastries, cakes, and pizza. The shop has been a favorite among locals for over 15 years and is particularly famous for its amazing cakes and wide selection of pastries. The bakery is also renowned for its Italian cartocci filled with crema, making it an ideal spot to start the day with a cup of coffee.
Sicilian Pastry is just wow if you’re ever in Edinburgh it’s a must as I travel from the Midlands. I’ve always visited Sicilian Pastry Shop when ever I visit Edinburgh. The variety is just amazing spoiled for choice. The macarons are done right. They are almost unbelievably delicious with flavors that linger. Customer service is first class - very personal and very nice. I would name favorite flavors, but the macarons are all so very good. these days quality small businesses should be nurtured a real gem. These cannoli taste just like the best ones I’ve gotten at Italian bakeries! They have the perfect combination of flavors and textures. The cannoli shells are perfectly tender and flaky, like a flake away in your mouth kind of texture.
ZED — Google review
First time here and NEVER again. This shop was recommended by someone. The selection was limited but this may well be down to the time of visiting. The desserts looked nice and the ONLY item that was nice, was the Nutella cream croissant. The chocolate éclairs, jammy heart biscuit and large cookies were, at best, ordinary. Overpriced and simply not deserving of the price point. Shop needs an update as looks ancient. Service was okay. No item had a description, calorie information or price which, in my opinion, isn't acceptable 🤔. Please visit other standard places as they will be better and half the price. You don't always get what you pay for.
Ash O — Google review
First and last visit for me. This place came recommended, but I honestly don’t see why. The selection was pretty limited — maybe because of the time I went — and most of what I tried was disappointing. The only thing worth mentioning was the Nutella cream croissant, which was actually quite nice. Everything else, like the chocolate éclairs, jam biscuits, and cookies, felt really average and definitely overpriced. The shop itself looks quite dated and could really use a refresh. Service was fine, nothing special. What really put me off though was that none of the items had prices, descriptions, or calorie info — not great in this day and age. Honestly, you’re better off going somewhere else where you’ll get better quality for half the cost.
Kira M — Google review
We've been going here for years and the cakes and pastries have always been excellent. None of the prices are displayed in store which makes it difficult to know what to buy.
James T — Google review
We travelled over from Fife especially to buy some cakes. Decided to have a couple of filled rolls too. They were all delicious thanks so much. Staff were all very friendly and helpful too. So I would ignore all the negative reviews and get yourself some goodies when your passing 😉 we will definitely make the journey again 😀
Hazel C — Google review
My little escape to heaven in Edinburgh. The choice is mouthwatering and every time I step in the shop it makes me homesick for Italy. A wondrous place, good value too!
Rachel D — Google review
I cannot say it enough, this place is incredible! It's a true gem here in Edinburgh and you can find pastries and food that taste authentic. Being Italian I can attest to that. Umberto and the staff have been more than helpful and went above and beyond all expectations for our wedding tastings for the cake and the appetisers. I wish I could give them more stars. I will be recommending them to all of the people I know. I hope this bakery will be a part of Edinburgh for as long as ever.

The Bearded Baker is a cozy bakery in Edinburgh known for its delectable doughnuts, bagels, and specialty coffee. The cafe offers a variety of freshly baked goods including pastries and their specialty - house-made bagels available plain or with fillings like bacon and smoked salmon & cream cheese. Their traditional sugared doughnuts are filled with an assortment of flavors such as jam, Biscoff spread, and chocolate.
Popped in on the way to the Botanic Gardens and picked up a totally delicious Pistachio Ganache doughnut. Had to go back a second time and tasted the enormous Boston Cream doughnut among other treats. This is a very small place but there are a couple of tables if you can’t wait to taste your goodies!
Sujata R — Google review
I’ve been just now. I have brought 2 doughnuts to try it, the box was very fatty, with old oil on it, the doughnuts tasty old previous day doughnuts, and the smells like old off milk. I won’t comeback again and wouldn’t recommend it. I’ve got some pictures to share my horrible experience… The service was okay, really fast and the atmosphere was positive looking. I would suggest to the doughnuts owners to be much more focused on the tasty of it stead of how it looks… In the box it was amazing beauty, the taste was really bad…
Samuel V — Google review
Absolutely love my local! ❤️ The decor is gorgeous, the staff are always lovely, and the coffee is fab. But the real stars are the bakes, next level. Our family favourite has to be the cinnamon sugar doughnuts… totally irresistible! Highly recommend popping in if you haven’t already.

super nice staff, very joyful, and their bagels and coffee are awesome. go there for a late breakfast, you can’t to wrong!

Every single time I have been here you are greeted with a smile and a welcoming atmosphere!! The staff are ALWAYS super lovely. It is a small space so I don't like to stay long and hold up business, but their doughnuts and other baked goods are phenomenal. Their coffee is also super tasty!! I think it's fantastic value for money, amazing quality and amazing vibes, thanks for all the awesome work!!
Emily C — Google review
I tried the tasty and less sweaty cinnamon buns. I also had a Shmoky Schmear—a bagel with cream cheese and mackerel—that my friend recommended. I also take away doughnuts with raspberry custard, which is surprisingly tangy and satisfying. In the meantime, their coffee is decent and goes well with their pastries and meals. I will definitely come back.

Amazing cinnamon buns and bagels. I had the B.A.T ( bacon , Avon and tomato) Warm and fresh. Fresh bread and bagels on the shelf too. Yip all the men serving have beards, but not the ladies) . Best in mind in small and quirky inside with 2 tables, a breakfast bar and a seat outside so get in quick. Dog friendly too. Not over priced too especially for Edinburgh prices

The Pastry Section, located in Edinburgh's Southside, is a delightful bakery that offers a taste of artisan France. The talented bakers here are dedicated to creating real bread using quality ingredients and slow baking techniques. Visitors can enjoy warm loaves fresh from the oven. Additionally, nearby establishments like Lovecrumbs and Milk offer tempting cakes and fresh, healthy sandwiches. Despite some feedback about pricing and service at The Pastry Section, many patrons praise the delicious cakes and friendly staff.
We had just 1 pastry here (and coffees) - and it was awesome. The meringue is somewhere between a marshmallow and a meringue, and the tart itself was great - right amount of sweetness and lemon flavor, good pastry crust. Would get this again. Their other offerings looked really delicious too. Coffee was good. There’s a small amount of seating in store. We visited on a weekday after lunch and were able to find seats easily. But your experience might vary at different days / times. Recommend!

DELICIOUS yum diddly umptious !!! You have to try the cinnamon rolls. Only downside is that there isn’t much space insides besides a few tiny 1-person tables. But I can’t wait to go and try more of their cakes 😫

what on earth was that blondie … 🫠🫠 such a shame because everything looked delicious but the white chocolate blondie was like eating mush. i wouldn’t recommend keeping that on your menu. The texture was like no bake iv ever tasted before . it was like it was still in its dough form and hadn’t been baked yet. so disappointing . We also got these basked cheesecake which was lovely however was “white chocolate” and didn’t taste of white chocolate at all. I fear I just made the wrong choices and other items could have been better . However I do feel it was a complete waste of money. The staff were very friendly and the shop itself well presented .

Everything here is soooo delicious. We've tried the apple tart, ultimate brownie, carrot cake and cheese scone - all perfect. The texture and flavour of cakes and pastries here are amazing. The staff are always friendly and give us tissues, forks etc. when we takeaway the pastries, which is perfect for enjoying in the nearby inverleith park.

Such a wonderful dessert shop with incredibly tasty treats. The most popular items sell out quickly, so it’s best to visit early in the day. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

Can't beat the cakes here, visited countless times and never been disappointed. If you ever see the sticky toffee slice on the menu - get it! Ps don't bother queuing for Lannan just come here instead.

Nanaimo more like Nanai-yes! As a Canadian from BC I was shocked to see our local confectionery in Edinburgh. I must try it. While it is not as sweet as our version I found it better! Nanaimo bars are so sweet it hurts my teeth. If more was like this one I’d eat it regularly. Please consider entering this one in a Nanaimo competition.
T K — Google review
The staff were lovely and all the food looked amazing. I was so excited to try something. I bought the cinnamon bun but unfortunately I was a little disappointed with the taste. The cinnamon flavour was not strong enough for me and the bun itself was a little dry and bread like. I’m a big fan of cream cheese frosting so I loved the generous dollop and it gave the dry bun something to dip in. However, even for me after a while it was just too much and a bit overpowering. Wish I’d liked it more as the staff were lovely!

The Babyfaced Baker, also known as Rhiain Gordon, started as a recipe blog and has now become a popular bakery in Edinburgh. The cute blue-fronted store on Leith Walk offers a variety of baked goods including bright buns, stuffed cookies, caramel brownies, and cruffins in flavors like peanut butter jelly and Biscoff. The star of the show is the stuffed cookies which come in a great variety. Most of their offerings are vegan-friendly.
Everything here looks so delicious — I spent a good few minutes just trying to decide what to choose! I went for the Bueno Cookie, and the filling was amazing. The lady at the counter was very friendly. The place itself is super cozy. Highly recommend! Definitely worth checking when you’re in Edinburgh 💕🍪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Super cute bakery! Everything I’ve had from here is delicious. One of my favorites is their coffee pecan bostock, which seems to have earned a loyal fan following amongst Babyfaced customers. I’m just vegetarian but I’m happy to see so many vegan pastries in their counter, it’s nice to be inclusive! The staff are always super friendly, and they often have exciting/weird coffee specials.

highly recommend this shop lots of lovely items lots of vegan friendly options I went for cauliflower focaccia sandwich and pistachio croissant was super tasty and the lady at the counter was super lovely and friendly I would recommend and will definitely come back thank you ❤️

Amazing selection of vegan pastries, hard to find elsewhere in Edinburgh! Crunchy, fragrant and delicately sweet. I loved their apricot and almond danish pastry, raspberry and lemon bun, and dark choc cruffin. Plus, staff is always very friendly and kind! I just wish they had tables to sit in because I’d like to spend more time there, such good vibes!

Oh my! I had the mango bostock which was something I'd never seen before, and it was amazing! Like French toast crossed with a caramelized croissant, topped with a yummy custard and raspberries. Quite the most delicious thing I've eaten in a long while. It was a messy eat but delicious - hoping London will catch on and start selling these! Thank you 😊

Babyfaced Baker now has a gorgeous little takeaway bakery on Leith Walk. They have tray bakes, croissants, stuffed cookies, and a good selection of vegan options too! I opted for an iced bun to grab on my way to work. It was the best morning treat I could have asked for. Not only was it cute with little sprinkles of raspberry, but it was super fresh.
Sweetpathways — Google review
They have lots of vegan options, and they're all absolutely scrumptuous. The almond croissant, the pecan bostock and the cinnamon roll in particular were the best I've ever tried. Plus the staff was very nice.

Mimi's Bakehouse in Edinburgh is a charming and friendly cafe with a vintage-inspired decor that offers a delightful bakery experience. The menu features tray-bakes, scones, cakes, and a belly-busting breakfast menu with traditional Scottish breakfast options and indulgent French toast. A must-try is the Nutella-stuffed French toast served with whipped cream and berries.
The staff were welcoming and patient when we arrived. The food was amazing one of the best brunches I’ve had. We also managed to squeeze in an afternoon tea which was fresh home cooked scones. We got baked to take away and they too were really good. I would highly recommend this place.

Would highly recommend this place. We tried their cappuccino and mocha - both were really good but the mocha stole the spotlight. Also got the eggs Benedict and the falafel sandwich. The falafel sandwich was outstanding - perfectly balanced. The onion chutney was sweet and tangy adding the perfect zing to the sandwich. Got the eggs Benedict with extra halloumi and would def recommend. Was going perfect with the veggie haggis and the egg Benedict. The portion sizes are also huge so would keep that in mind before ordering. The only downside was that there was construction going on at the time, so it was noisy.
Priyansha V — Google review
My first afternoon tea experience was really lovely. The chai felt like a warm hug, and the pottery was very cute. Definitely want a set of my own. The sandwiches were decent, some I liked more than others but the pastry was excellent. I highly recommend the raisin scone with both the jam and clotted cream on top. The desserts were also good. The brownie was a bit too dense for me to finish after everything and the macaroni flavor wasn't my favorite, but the other items more than satisfied.

@mimisbakehouse We got our wedding cakes from mimi's bakehouse. We were looking for a less traditional wedding cake and loved the look of individual cakes on cake stands of different heights. We ordered Victoria sponge, salted caramel, Carrot cake and vegan red velvet. The cakes were so fresh and so delicious! Our guests had so many compliments for them. Extra perk, we got free delivery with our order, another task complete to make our lives easier. Photo credits: @gjphotofilm

We were here yesterday for Father’s Day. The service is pretty slow. The afternoon tea and drinks came about 25 mins after we sat down. There was no milk with our teas which we needed to ask for. Also I noticed that we also needed to ask for cutlery and napkin. Can’t really spread jam and clotted cream on our scones with our fingers can we. Husband had to go up to the counter 3 times to ask for things. However, my little one did enjoy her kids afternoon tea and I enjoyed my food too

We ordered their largest Vintage style round cake in red velvet for our wedding. Beautifully piped and decorated, delicious and very fresh cake. Went down a treat with all our guests. Great value for money (definitely serves 30, and although the slices are very thin theyre still enormous and could honestly be halved even further as the cake was 4 layers). The picture doesnt do justice of just how big this cake actually was!

Went here with my friend and we had a very disappointing experience. As you can see from the picture the avocado looked off and the egg looks uncooked and was watery. The staff aswell weren’t very attentive and didn’t ask if the food was good. With getting this we found it quite expensive for what we got. It’s sad because it used to be our favourite spot.
Rebecca S — Google review
A disappointing experience. The food felt very expensive for what we received, and not good value for money. Two of us ordered eggs benedict, both were very overcooked, and the bacon that was listed (and paid for) was missing. Service was also slower than expected.

Valvona & Crolla, a renowned Edinburgh establishment since 1934, is Scotland's oldest wine merchant and holds a Royal Warrant. The Contini family oversees this Italian outpost, featuring a deli packed with Italian gastronomic delights and an attached cafe restaurant. VinCaffe, part of the Valvona & Crolla family, offers its own bakery-made bread and olive oil alongside an excellent wine selection.
This was a new find for me and I think I’ll be going here every trip to Edinburgh from now. So much to browse through, hard choices to be made on what to purchase cos everything looks so good! The deli selection is amazing - in fact, every section is packed with beautiful, extra special items. We had a coffee and dessert at the cafe too, which was delicious.
Lorraine M — Google review
The menu here is seasonal, which can be a hit or miss depending on what you’re expecting. The restaurant is tucked away at the back of the deli and was fairly quiet during our lunchtime visit. We had come based on the menu we saw online, only to find that it had completely changed - not a problem at all but something to be aware of before visiting. We ordered a range of dishes to sample a bit of everything: Salmone to start, Crab Linguine, Mushroom Tagliolini, Mozzarella Penetella (toasted sandwich), Torta di Polenta and Torta di Limone. Unfortunately, the Crab Linguine was underwhelming - the flavours didn’t come through and it had very little crab. The Torta di Limone also felt overpriced for the portion size. In contrast, the Torta di Polenta offered much better value, both in taste and size. The highlights for us were the Mushroom Tagliolini and the Mozzarella Penetella, both full of flavour and well-executed. That said, while there were a couple of standout dishes, I wouldn’t go out of my way to return

Wonderful place. Our 3rd time here and couldn’t ever leave less than a 5 star review. Today simply had a pain au chocolat and a cafetière of coffee but both were as special as usual. Could not fault this place. And could never come back to Edinburgh without returning here. I would advise booking in advance as it’s very popular. And rightly so.
Phil ( — Google review
3 stars for the food. We also got meats and cheeses from the deli. Robiola tre latti is a 3 milk cheese which is super creamy, very mild with the teeniest sourness. Salami Milano was alright, quite waxy texture so a lot of bite. The salami finocchio is better, and we are super lucky to get that on discount, with umami and aroma from the fennel seeds. Food from restaurant: Cantaloupe w prosciutto was alright, both ingredients were not top tier but serviceable Crab linguine was alright as well, I can see why some people say it's not good, but portions were generous and it wasn't bad by any means, but definitely not superb either. What's superb is torta di polenta, with such an incredible depth of flavour and a pleasant texture that I cannot believe it was made with so few ingredients. This is a must try

Wonderful Italian food and drink shop. We loved browsing through the unusual flavours and tastes of the many different condiments, oils, chutneys, pastas, fresh foods, etc...etc. We didn't eat here but that is an option to consider. We definitely recommend a visit.

Another gem recommended by a local who called it an Edinburgh Institution … she wasn’t kidding! We had planned to meet for coffee and sadly circumstances meant she couldn’t make it. So we rebooked to have lunch before we left. It did not disappoint… after filling our bag with Italian delights to take home we chose a light lunch… N’juda chickpea, onion and tomato on sourdough toast and a mozzarella panatella with courgette chips which were yummy mmm 😋 Wished we hadn’t been so full from the mornings breakfast and yesterday’s food fest as I would have had more of a meal…next time. Great service, excellent food and lovely presentation looking forward to going back on the next visit

Lovecrumbs West Port is a charming and quirky cafe located just up the road from Edinburgh's Grassmarket. The cozy interior, mismatched tableware, and intentionally cluttered space create an inviting atmosphere. Founded by Hollie Reid and Rachel Morgan, this cafe is known for its artisan coffee and a wooden dresser full of handmade cakes. It has become a popular spot for people looking to indulge in deliciously fresh bakes while having meetings or simply enjoying some cakey goodness.
The atmosphere nice and cozy, the coffee and food is really good, polite staff lovely place were we always comeback when will visit Edinburgh.

This place was pretty decent, it’s a nice little shop with a good-looking cake selection. Their drinks are beautifully made no matter what you get, and their croissants are huge and delicious. We got some kind of raspberry cake and a banana one and they were delicious.

This is a nice, cozy place with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. I tried the chocolate cake, and it was perfectly balanced in sweetness. It paired really well with a cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a comfortable spot with great desserts.

Flat white with oat milk was very delicious , but a little bit small for 4,10£ Finally this café is great for relaxing, as the staff has plenty of time… but they're reservedly friendly. The delicious coffee apologised (I forgot to ask for the delicious coffee bean!), and they brought it to my table outside.

Such a lovely little cafe with a chilled atmosphere! The perfect place to relax and read a book. The coffee and tea was lovely! The cakes looked unbelievable! I wish they were gluten-free. Staff were friendly too.

I’m a coffee enthusiast, eager to try a Cortado. I ordered one for myself and a cappuccino for my bf. This place caters to those who enjoy robust coffee; both our selections were pleasantly strong. While I typically prefer milder brews, I found them enjoyable. Additionally, their raspberry white chocolate pastry was the highlight. It was perfectly balanced sweetness, not overwhelming but certainly not lacking. I really loved the pastry and the ambience which was the best.
Neha B — Google review
Such a serendipitous find! All the staff are super lovely and helpful, and super nice about any drink modification requests. The matcha latte was an especially nice surprise, definitely the richest matcha I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is super cozy and lively as well, plus a great taste in music.

Lovecrumbs has a nice vibe, and the wait was short. The cakes were the highlight—absolutely delicious. However, the coffee was a huge letdown, especially at £4.10 per small cup; it lacked quality and didn’t measure up to well known competitors. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return. Also, the toilet needs serious attention—dripping and falling apart, it’s far from inviting. Disappointing overall.

Bibi's Bakery, located in the heart of Edinburgh on Hanover Street, is a delightful haven for those with a sweet tooth. This artisanal bakery offers custom cakes, macarons, and cupcakes that are not only delicious but also beautifully decorated. The cupcakes are particularly noteworthy for their intricate designs that make them almost too pretty to eat. Visitors can expect a warm welcome from the friendly staff as they step into this clean and colorful bakery filled with picture-perfect treats.
Love this place! Best cupcakes I have had in town and they look stunning. Their scones are also delicious (and usually huge!). Their macarons and brownies are 🤤 🤤. They also have shortbread which is very typical of Scotland same as the scones. You can sit in on a small counter with stools or take away and they do tea, coffee and hot chocolate too. The boxes they put the things into are lovely so perfect for gifts as well!

We got a cookie and a cupcake from here yesterday. Both were really nice. My cupcake had filling on the inside of the sponge which was a nice surprise. The cookie had a nice texture. Staff were reasonably friendly and there were a good selection of sweet treats to choose from. The macrons looked nice but a bit too expensive at £2 for 1. For something that I can eat in one go, that’s a little too pricey for me.
Chaz C — Google review
HORRIBLE experience. Do not order custom design from here. I asked for brownies with the metallica logo in fondant or edible icing and it was just paper put on top and not even cut out properly! And the ‘Happy Birthday Stu’ was not straight at all and looked like a child did it. I paid £45 for just a mediocre tray of brownies….I thought this place was supposed to make amazing designs and especially for that price…. Please contact me for a refund or voucher - I deserve it after this. I was very embarrassed giving this to my boyfriend for his birthday. I had to cut out the paper letters myself so it looked more presentable…. 0 stars if I could

If words can describe how good is the dessert in this place, i would only say heavenly! I try their macaroon, cupcakes (the cinnamon one, try it!), dollar cake, and milk biscuit. Oh how nice the employee. If youre an employee i hope the owner give you a raise. If youre the owner, i hope everyone could see this and try your dessert!

Lovely little shop with a lot of very special looking and tasty sweets. Everything prepared fresh and with love. Macarons convinced me from the beginning, Scottish shortbread could be a bit less sweet but nevertheless very enjoyable. Friendly staff and definitely worth stopping by.

The service was very friendly and my personal favourites were the double chocolate and the salted caramel cupcakes. The price for these delicacies was perfectly reasonable, I'm more than happy to support the bakers. But beware that one will definitely feed you for the remainder of the afternoon. Amzing!

A very nice and colourful Cake shop in Edinburgh. If you love Cakes, especially chocolate brownies, this is a must go place. There are number of Cakes, cupcakes, brownies to choose from. The staff is very friendly and the Cake shop is very very colorful and neat. Will definitely visit again.

I climbed the steps, wrestled the door open and walked into a clean bakery brimming with picture postcard perfect cupcakes! We're talking works of art and while I was there people popped in for gift boxes and that's a good choice. Bringing cake treats to a party? Check here. Out of the corner of my eye I saw scones and macarons, but they're really second fiddle to the cupcakes. Third fiddle. The staff greeted me warmly and I got served straight away. I was here because Bibi's is supporting a food week called 358 Eat for charity. Edinburgh has loads of bakeries but Bibi's one of the few to help out. That's a reason to visit this bakery. I noticed that not all the staff knew about the 358 deal or how to put it through the till. Awkward, I hate being that customer and I know how cringe it is for staff as well. I also know how hard staff communication is and training can be for SMEs but it's totally worth the effort. Tip: You can sit in here and plug into the wall power to recharge your tech. Just don't abuse. My coffee was delicious and Bibi's have a thank you logo wall to their suppliers and I recognised local, ethical suppliers. I had a cookies and cream cupcake which I'd also have been proud to unpack and serve to friends at a party. Overall? In a city full of bakeries, Bibi's is one to visit.

The bakery caters to individuals with various dietary intolerances by offering dairy-free, egg-free, vegan, soy-free, and nut-free pastries. Visitors have praised the bakery for its delectable treats such as pizza scones, cookies, and bread used for toasties.
This is the best bakery I have ever found for gluten free food. I travelled from the West Midlands for a weekend away and this bakery was top of my list. I had a variety of cakes, toastie and coffee all of which were delicious. It was amazing to see so many gluten free options, not something you see everyday. The staff were very welcoming and the pricing was more than fair. If I ever find myself in Edinburgh again I will be sure to head back for another sweet treat.

Recently I've ordered personalised cakes for a work event. Amy was great with communication and advice on amounts and flavours. The delivery was timely and the cakes turned out beautiful! For decoration we had a printed edible logo on one and a piped message on another - both turned out amazing, real showstoppers :) As the celebration cakes can't be made vegan, I've also ordered cupcakes with the company logo topper. I'm so happy to be able to ensure all dietary requirements are ticked and still get delicious cakes with great flavours. Always very happy with Sugar Daddy's bakes, so I can highly recommend them.

Amazing gluten free bakery/cafe with so much choice! We tried the salami mozzarella toastie, raspberry muffin, cinnamon donut, normal donut, cinnamon bun roll and stuff cookie - all were fantastic. A must visit for anybody, not just GF folk! Well worth a visit. Staff are lovely and helpful too.

Ordered 5 boxes of cupcakes from Sugar Daddy's for a party and they went down a absolute storm. These aren't just good gluten-free cakes, they're good cakes full stop! Many of our guests didn't even realise they were gluten-free, and for our coeliac friend who'd never had a cupcake before, it was a revelation. Particularly recommend the salted caramel, usually I'm disappointed by the lack of saltiness in things advertised this way but there was definitely a salty kick in this caramel! Will certainly be a repeat customer.

10s across the board for this wonderful gluten free bakery! Perfect for picking up bread and nan for in the week and wonderful sweet treats. ALL GLUTEN FREE and with very clear allergen information for dairy free and vegan as well. I was impressed at the price range with the baked doughnuts at £1.50 and larger treats a bit more. Love the cinnamon bun and my friend enjoyed the cardamom bun a lot. My friends enjoyed the coffee, but me and my other friend did not like the matcha. It was overpriced and watery/bland :( I can see that the matcha was batch-made which isn’t the best sign I still give 4 stars as I returned for the cinnamon bun a second time

Soderberg hits the spot every time. One of my favourite cafés in Edinburgh, always good quality here. I ordered the chorizo mozzarella toastie with a long black coffee. Toastie was perfect, super stretchy cheese, intense chorizo and nice crunchy sourdough. Coffee is exactly right too, full bodied but not overwhelming. The café itself is quite small so it can be difficult to get a seat sometimes, but well worth it. Price-wise, it's on the more expensive side, but when the quality is there I don't mind paying for it.

Pear and plum cake was divine in every way as were the cinnamon buns. Definitely my new go-to when in central Edit: I returned the next day to sample more of their bakes and can confirm the spanacopita (flaky spinach bake) tastes as good as it looks. The vegan sausage roll had a smoky chipotle flavour to it, crumbles as you break it up - was nice but not really my thing. We also tried the small jam almond cookies which were decadent and chewy

Lovely bakery that has a lot of vegan and vegetarian options for lunch and breakfast. They have a few tables inside and it's very cosy and inviting. I had a soup, and samosa, both pretty good. This place is such a hidden gem. All the food is made with love - and the amount of delicious cakes! If you’re searching for homemade food, but way better than what you can cook yourself, this is it 🩷
Iben T — Google review
I have never left a review or a complaint - I popped into the bakery to try their cheese toasties advertised outside. After ordering I was a little shocked at how much it was, £9.25 for a takeaway. However, I was open/excited to try a really great toastie. After leaving, I opened it up to find a pathetic amount of cheese (see image attached). It definitely was not deserving of the 9.25 price tag. I did go back and the lady serving me who was kind, gave the toastie to the owner/baker who ‘remade’ this for me. When I then finally tucked into my lunch, due to the fact they had used the original toastie and only added cheese, the bread was soggy and the cheese wasn’t melted! Barely edible and falling apart!

I was really looking forward to trying the sourdough at this bakery. However, I was a bit surprised when it was served. I wasn’t sure if that’s how it’s actually meant to be eaten 😅 I originally wanted to return it, but the store was very busy, with a long line and only two staff members, so I decided to let it go. I also bought a whole sourdough loaf separately, and that one was just as expected.

The food was so good we had breakfast there 2 days in a row while on vacation. Highly recommend the cheese, leek and potato pasty. Delicious!! The pastries and bread are also very good. We even tried the vegetarian haggis, which was also very tasty.10/10

Average cafe for Edinburgh, the food and service was good, though a bit slow as they’re evidently struggling with being understaffed. Despite this, the gentleman at the counter was kind and patient while answering any questions I had regarding food. The leek and potato soup with sourdough was unfortunately a let down as it was entirely blended and the consistency of baby food. 😅 I love purée soups but I think some potato chunks and bits of leek were really needed here. Flavour was bland as well. We ended up tossing half our soup due to texture alone. The sourdough bread was a bit of a let down flavour wise and left a lot to be desired especially with the toasted thin slices served… thicker cut would have been much better. Onto the sandwich however! This was a pleasant surprise as I wasn’t expecting much- it was delicious! The “scrambled egg” is actually more of a jammy egg scrambled and is a wonderful flavour consistency with bits of soft boiled yolk, the chive worked exceptionally well mixed in. Overall it’s a good stop for a quick takeaway but it’s not somewhere I would go out of my way to get food from again.

Average chocolate cookie and nice double chocolate brownie Was expected much better. Cookie is super dry, nice chocolate but overall very average home made cookie Better brownie quite moist and good chocolate taste, then again giving the corner piece is not ideal at this price… Expensive 6,15gbp for both Not worth it I think

A lovely cafe with the most friendly staff and a wide selection of brunch and bakery items. The relaxed vibe and reasonable prices suits a whole meal or a quick bite and coffee. It was a comfortable experience and I’m looking forward to my next visit!

our small visit to adante bakery was okay. the service was fine and food overall okay. food: the pastry was nothing special and actually very bland considering what else you can find within walking distance atmosphere: the place overall has a poor quality of sound, the roofing is high but the place is quite clinical and boring.
Alexander P — Google review
Came soon after the bakery opened in the morning and bought the plain croissant, cinnamon roll and chocolate twist for takeout per the server recommendation. While the croissant was pillowy soft with lots of laminated interior, it lacked the crispy crunchy exterior one typically expects IMHO. The cinnamon roll was ok, nothing special about it. Likewise for the chocolate twist.

Lovely café that serves breakfast & brunch: artisan bread, croissants and pastries, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, coffee and tea. Great to start your day with. Also you can buy a bag with discounted products in the end of the day through the app 'Too good to go'. Real treat!

Popped in for a quick breakfast with a small group. Lovely interior and clean contemporary fittings. The food is fantastic. I had the Andante Eggs Special - artisanal poached eggs with soldiers. The yoghurt/herbs/sun-dried tomato paste and pistachios work amazingly well. Will be back the next couple of days I suspect.

Thomas J Walls Coffee is a trendy and inviting coffee shop located in the city. Housed in a traditional space with wood and brick wall panels, it retains the charm of its origins as an optometrist's office. The exterior boasts stunning brass and marble features, while the interior showcases high ceilings and old-fashioned wood-panelled walls. Despite its former identity, the cafe now serves as a popular spot for brunch and light fare.
Wow. Get in here and find a breakfast sandwich to fall in love with. Easily serves two and came out rather quickly. Great atmosphere paired with a nice cup of coffee will offer a leg up on any morning.

Went there to hide from the rain. Beautiful cafe. Delicious chai latte. I didn’t really like the espresso. Lemon and poppyseed loaf was a bit too sweet. Would come again for the chai latte and beautiful vintage interior. :)

This may have been the best scone I’ve ever had. The cappuccino was great as well. There is tons of seating in the cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Not the first time we have had coffee and food here and won’t be the last. Very busy but fantastic service and really nice coffee and food. We just had soup of the day today and bread. With coffee. I can never work out how this very busy coffee shop can work out where you sit after ordering ! Lovely food great service.

I have visited a couple of times now and had mixed experiences. I do find the place to be a bit overpriced and I was confused about the pricing difference between items. Coffee overall okay and a nice atmosphere.
Alix A — Google review
I was quite excited to visit - the window and exterior look so cool and full of character. Unfortunately, the inside felt a bit run-down and not in a charming, old-school way. The coffee itself was acceptable, but the place felt a bit scrubby and worn, and I honestly couldn’t bring myself to try the food. It’s a shame, because it looks great from the outside.
Tsenka G — Google review
Pushy, overpriced, and unpleasant. Ordered two coffees and was immediately pressured for a tip, with staff hovering over the card machine to see what I entered. You’re already paid a wage to make coffee.. This isn't America. Even worse, the mens toilets had graffiti saying "kill Elon Musk" which had clearly been there a while. Regardless of anyone’s views, leaving violent messages like that up is appalling. It shows either a lack of basic cleanliness or a disturbing tolerance for this coffee shop towards advocating harm. One of the worst coffee shop experiences I’ve had in Edinburgh. Would never recommend.

I randomly walked into this café today with some coffee beans, and the lovely staff Canna was so kind to help me grind them. La Barantine is a boulangerie-patisserie with four locations in Edinburgh, founded by Vincent and Celine who left France to pursue their Scottish dream. The Bruntsfield location offers an authentic French patisserie experience, highly praised by visitors for its pastries and coffee. The service is attentive, and the atmosphere is welcoming. While some reviewers found the eclairs slightly stale, others enjoyed the authentic baguettes and delicious quiche with smooth custard and warm pastry.
Nice charming cafe! I really enjoyed my coffee and the lemon dessert—it was delicious, just the right sweetness with a pleasant lemony tang. The cafe's location is in such a picturesque and vibrant area.
Katherine M — Google review
If the shop window cluttered with stacks of pastries like any real Parisian bakery wasn’t enough to lure you in, let the other hundred-something five starers’ convince you. Our pan au raisins were perfect in both texture and taste, with bursts of custard delicately layered throughout the flaky swirl. I do have a preference for a good crunchy or wet glazing on top of my pan au raisins, which this one didn’t have, and it still climbed my rankings of Edinburgh pastries. Already impressed, I’ll be returning to try out their delightful, vibrant and alluring case of both delicate and tarty flavours alongside another cappuccino
Fern F — Google review
You can find great authentic French pastry here ! Although I am not French, but as a foodie with high expectations, their quiche is really delicious, smooth custard with aromatic and warm pastry. I still prefer English scone than theirs tho, they don’t serve clotted cream 🤣 The coffee could be better, but it is compensated by the great pastry and macaroons. Do drop by this lovely place when you are nearby.

I ordered a celebration cake and a combination of 4 small cakes online as a gift for my friends. However, when I went there to get the cakes they just gave me boxes and told me that they don’t have any bag. The lady gave me a M&S shopping bag from the back (thank god) I am sorry, but I have never seen a pastry shop which is not cheap and has no bag for their celebration cake. I go here because it tastes delicious, but i think you guys really need to prepare a bag for the celebration cake.

We had coffees and pastries sitting in, the service was good, every person working seemed to be focused on providing great customer experience which was refreshing for my parents who were visiting from France... We then had French patisseries to take away. They were good but the eclairs tasted like they were from the day before. The baguettes were very authentic. We didn't try the sandwiches but if they are made with the same bread then they should be pretty awesome as the fillings looked amazing.

At Mademoiselle Macaron, the delightful array of macarons is sure to impress even the most discerning palates. This chic patisserie offers a stunning selection that ranges from classic flavors like pistachio to innovative combinations such as Innis & Gunn and Earl Grey. Each macaron is not only visually appealing but also bursting with unique tastes that harmonize beautifully.
I have never actually tried the macarons myself, I live in Canada while my family is back in the UK. Mademoiselle Macaron has been my go to company for ordering little gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Mothers and Fathers day etc. They always get great reviews from the family! There is always an awesome variety of flavors and the delivery is quick and very reliable. One time during the peak of covid there was a (understandable) issue with a delivery, it was resolved quickly and easily and the service was fantastic. This is a small business I am proud to keep supporting. Hopefully I will be able to try some macarons when I next visit the UK :)

Really sad to be leaving this review as I have supported this company for a long time. We have always used their macarons as they are in fact very tasty. However they are a very unreliable company and offer special delivery which never comes on time. Last month we had a wedding booked and our macarons did not arrive, the bride was very upset we had refund her and when the parcel did arrive late we were stuck with them and out of pocket as the occasion had past. We understand human error and decided again to give them a second chance. Ordered 2 £30 trays for a wedding via special delivery and AGAIN they have not come. Again our couple was let down. Its really disappointing and I wouldn’t be recommending or using this company again now which is such a shame.

Best macarons ever! I recently ordered their Halloween gift box. The pumpkin spice & Nutella macraons were absolutely delicious. I'll be pre-ordering their Christmas gift box too. Fast delivery too. Highly recommend!

We had a macaron tower for our wedding instead of a cake, and I cannot put into words how fantastic Mademoiselle Macaron were. The macarons themselves were beautiful and so tasty, and we received so many compliments from guests. Customer service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and I received replies to my emails within minutes. The tracking of our package was clear and informative, and the macarons arrived on time and well packaged, with not a single one cracked. I would highly recommend Mademoiselle Macaron.

Mary's Milk Bar is a charming, retro ice cream parlour located on Grassmarket in Edinburgh. It has gained a reputation for its inventive flavor combinations, such as gorgonzola, pear and honey gelato and pickled bramble sorbet. The Holyroods Moo Pie, a small batch gelato with soft serve cookie sandwiches, has garnered a devoted following. The gelato is handmade every morning using fresh and ever-changing ingredients, resulting in exceptionally rich flavors.
The best ice cream! First trip to Scotland and this was the best thing I ate. My husband who does not like sweet said this was the best ice cream he’s ever had in his life. This place was so memorable with the flavors! The best flavor was the cherry and cream. We did try salted caramel and the goat cheese and fig honey and those were pretty great as well.
Meli B — Google review
Mary’s milk bar had a great menu with delicious offerings. It gets busy really quick and while we got there at the right time (just when it opened), when we walked by a few hours later they had a queue down the street and up the stairs around the corner. Definitely worth going - just be prepared that you may have to wait your turn!
Alyssa B — Google review
Phenomenal! Undoubtedly the best gelato I’ve had. It’s that good we went back. We had lavender and lemon curd, caramel fig and cardamom sorbet, salted caramel and spiced pumpkin and apple. Unique flavours that you won’t find elsewhere that are just delicious.
N M — Google review
Ice-cream are all freshly made and smooth and some of them have very unique flavors. It’s great that Mary makes all the gelato and chocolate every morning. The flavours change each day and each season - no day is the same. You can check their Instagram page for updates. Their bar and stools are made from 100% recycled milk bottles and their colourful tops.

The cutest shop I've ever seen! Staff are super friendly, the portions are generous and the flavours all sound amazing. The dark chocolate was 10/10. There was no queue when we went but it would be worth queuing for anyway!
Chloe W — Google review
Short wait but the ice cream was definitely worth it. Creamy without being too heavy and mildly sweet without being overpowering. Tried salted caramel, whisky oats and cherry flavors. All were good and grabbed seat in park opposite to enjoy while people (and pigeon) watching.
Rani P — Google review
WORTH THE WAIT. The queue overall moves pretty quickly. The longest we waited was around 15 minutes. They have daily new flavors. We tried a couple of them. My personal favorite, the spaghetti sundae! You can pick your gelato flavor and they top it with milk ice spaghetti, cherry meatballs, grated white chocolate, pepper (yesss!!)and bread crumbs (and maybe even salt). The whole combination is an explosion in your mouth. The staff is friendly, helpful and patient. We took the ice creams outside, sitting on the grass enjoying the sun and people passing by, there are worse ways to pass your time.

The Milkman is a cozy café located in Edinburgh's city center, housed in a refurbished confectionery shop with a rich history. The café pays homage to the owner's great-grandfather, who was the last horse-drawn milkman in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. The interior features original stone walls and a mix of window benches and tartan-upholstered stools for seating.
Went very early in the morning, waited in line for about 15 minutes before being able to go into the store and order. The cafe itself is very small and has limited indoor seating. When weather permits they put out a couple outdoor benches with tables for more seating. I got the plum and cardamom pastry and it was SO YUMMY! It was not too sweet had good flavor and very flaky. I appreciated them giving it to me on a paper plate inside the pastry bag for to-go orders as it would've been a little messier to eat without it. The coffee options were more on the classic side, I ordered a cappuccino and it was okay, not anything too exciting. The pastries is what I would go for! Definitely worth the wait, to avoid lines go closest to opening time as possible!
Nina K — Google review
I stopped by this branch of The Milkman and had the Cloud Catcher herbal tea while my friend had a cappuccino. Both drinks tasted good but quite average nothing that really stood out. What disappointed me most was the staff, who weren’t very friendly, which made the experience less enjoyable. On top of that, the prices felt a bit high for what we got. Overall, it was okay. I much preferred the other branch of The Milkman up the road the staff is way nicer!
Toosha A — Google review
I couldn’t leave Edinburgh without trying The Milkman, so I queued up early around 8 AM, and still waited about 25 minutes! Luckily, I managed to snag a cozy window seat overlooking the beautiful street full of tourists and morning wanderers. My flat white was excellent, smooth and strong, and the spinach and cheese pastry was fresh (though honestly, I’ve had better). Still, the vibe and the view made it worth it. a must-try at least once when you’re sightseeing in Edinburgh.
Sahar B — Google review
It's a small nice cafe at the Cockburn street and it's really famous. We waited a short time in a queue , approximately 5', and, lucky us, we found a seat inside. The cappuccino was bad and the chocolate cherry croissant not for my tastes. The staff is really friendly and smiley and really well organised ! They let 3-4 people at the time inside so it will not be crowded. The prices were normal.
Βασιλική Κ — Google review
Very cozy place, the coffee was amazing and also the pasties were quite good, however if you are planning to have a seated breakfast I don’t recommend to go there because there are just 3/4 tables and plenty of people, so is the perfect place if you want to grab something to eat while walking around the city. There seems being a long queue, however is quite fast, don’t panic!
Virginia B — Google review
Good coffee. Very small cafe but few outside seatings are available. People queuing outside, but moves fast. Vegan milk alternatives. Variety of desserts and pastries. Good recommendations are: lemon tart and salted caramel brownie.

*"Absolutely loved this coffee shop! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the staff are super friendly, and the coffee is top-notch. I tried their latte and a slice of cake — both were perfect. Definitely my new favorite spot to relax or catch up with friends. Highly recommend!"*
Car W — Google review
Don’t let the limited seating deter you. They are pulling double shots of a proper Italian espresso along with a nice tea selection and great bakery options in the case. The cappuccino had the perfect ratio of steam and froth. The espresso was bitter and creamy with a hint of nut. Great cafe for the first day in Scotland and the quad kept me up to power through the jet lag.

Artisan Roast New Town is a popular cafe in Edinburgh that specializes in fresh-roasted, single origin beans. They have an effortless aesthetic and provide a relaxing chill out spot. The popularity of their signature Janzsoon blend has seen the cafe's popularity soar in Edinburgh. There are now three cafes in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow, all of which serve the same great coffee.
Artisan Roast on Broughton Street is one of Edinburgh's original specialty coffee spots, and it's always felt like a true community hub. It's a really arty place too, with cool blackboards and interesting local art everywhere. The coffee here is fantastic. They roast their own beans, and I love that you can often try different processing methods (washed vs. natural) to really taste the difference. It's a real treat for coffee lovers. Pastries are fine, but nothing to write home about. However, their sandwiches are seriously good – loaded with ingredients. The pastrami sandwich is my go-to! Definitely pop into Artisan Roast on Broughton Street if you're visiting Edinburgh. It's a great spot for a top-notch coffee in a cool, local setting.

I’ve been coming here for the past 2 years. I return everyday during the fringe as I absolutely love the coffee. I’ve been ordering coffee for the past 10 years but got blessed to drink here during my time working the fringe. The staff are honestly amazing here, so friendly and attentive, also just lovely to chat to. They pour some of the most perfect latte art and their dedication to each coffee makes every single cup amazing. I’m a frequenter of the batch brew and couldn’t recommend enough as they have a constant rotation of what is new and interesting. Being as all of their coffee is sourced and roasted by themselves it really is much better than anywhere else around. I really do miss the strawberry coffee they made last year. A big favourite of mine. I will be back here very soon! And will continue ordering coffee online until I can’t drink anymore! Genuinely the best coffee shop/company to ever exist!

A great place for a hand beaten aromatic coffee. We tried their hazelnut latte with oat milk and l white latte in almond milk. The kind of personalisation is amazing. The place is cozy and might feel crowded in peak times! The best coffee I had in Edinburgh!

Stumbled upon this little gem and absolutely loved it. I tried the cinnamon roll and a hazelnut chocolate croissant—both were fresh, flaky, and delicious (the croissant especially was a standout treat). The coffee pairs perfectly with the pastries, and the whole space has a warm, welcoming vibe. With art pieces hanging all around, it feels more like a creative hideaway than just a coffee spot. Definitely a cozy place to slow down, relax, and enjoy good coffee with good atmosphere.

This little place is so charming! I love Edinburgh anyway, but it's places like this that really make you smile. Forget chain coffee shops and come here. I usually have americano, but tried the filter, 2 different types, didn't need any milk. I've never tasted coffee quite like this (in a very good way)! Warming on a dull morning, complex flavours, almost tastes a little boozy! The cafe is so cozy, the music, everything really. And the staff are also great. Wish I could move to Edinburgh

The donuts are just average. No matter how delicious you think your donuts are, your staff's attitude needs improvement. There was no greeting, farewell, or even a simple THANK YOU. They were quite rude and ruined my happy Wednesday. Additionally, if you don't provide carry bags, how am I supposed to carry the donuts box?
Jiwon K — Google review
These are one of the best doughnuts I ever ate it's just so perfectly balanced flavours would 100% recommend.
Monika V — Google review
Favourite donuts in Edinburgh! They also provided donuts for my wedding, as a cake substitute. They let use pick any combo of flavours we wanted and they were all ready bang on time for collection.
Calum H — Google review
Great place close to the meadows and the children’s play area. Doughnuts are rich and the coffee was excellent. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Would come back
Philip S — Google review
A great vegan outlet for delicious treats. They have a good variety of flavours for doughnuts and a few for ice cream. They also serve coffee. The flavours were better than the average competition out there. The staff were friendly and efficient in getting the orders sorted. The price is very reasonable around £2.50. I gave 4 stars to reflect the above average quality and reserve the fifth star for a second visit. Overall, I would recommend you to grab a treat, especially if you like the plant-based aspect of it.

Bakery Andante is a french bakery that offers delicious croissants, pains au chocolat and baguettes. The early delivery service was perfect for the whole family to share a yummy breakfast before heading to school. Excellent service!
Their cardamom buns are spongey and packed full of flavour, whilst their cinnamon buns are covered in icing and lovely although I wouldn’t protest a dash more cinnamon. From the ones I’ve tried on Morningside Road so far, these have been the best and most classic style. I usually warm them up at home then they’re even better

I visited on the 18th of April at around lunchtime, and the guy behind the counter - apologies, I didn't get his name - was so lovely and helpful! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed because I'd had a horrible weird couple of days but he was very patient and kind and helped me choose something for my husband. The double chocolate brownie I bought him went down a treat! The salted pretzel I went in for was also delicious and just what I needed. Will definitely be back.

Excellent bakery with some delicious products. It a little pricey for some items but natural, healthy and handmade costs more to produce than mass produced. I absolutely loved the cheesecake and would certainly buy it again as a treat.

Beautiful and enticing little bakery that's packed with character. Fantastic selection of breads, pastries, lunch items and an array of tasty sweets. They've taken Covid precautions very seriously and have done since day one making you feel very safe while shopping! PS: They also do home delivery!!

I buy sourdough regularly from local bakery’s and purchased from here for the first time this week. The sourdough was dense and tough and at £9.25 a loaf I feel like I’ve been robbed. Will be sticking to twelve triangles going forward.

Beware pain au chocolat in the afternoon. It was far from fresh. Given the price I didn't expect something so stale.

Booked a home delivery as a wee surprise for my daughter's birthday, and mentioned when ordering that an early delivery would be perfect. Lady and The Bear is a bright and spacious cafe located near the Meadows. It offers ample seating, making it a great spot to relax or even get some work done. The cafe serves excellent coffee, handmade filo pastry pies, and Mediterranean-inspired bakes such as gluten-free lemon cake made with Greek lemons and organic cinnamon and orange tsoureki. Customers can also enjoy a variety of freshly handmade savory and sweet treats daily.
I sometimes visit this coffee shop as I happen to be around frequently. I always enjoy the pleasant, cozy vibe. The staff are absolutely lovely and offer excellent service every time. The food is good—nothing extraordinary, but satisfying nonetheless. The interior is quite simple, but it still manages to feel warm and inviting. It is a dog friendly place, which also makes it more accessible. A nice place to relax with a coffee.

Great food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Been looking for a base to drink coffee and relax when im walking about town and ive finally found the perfect place. Central location. Close to everything. The coffee was very good. The homemade lemonade was excellent, really enjoyed that. My only negative is how expensive the place is. But if your anything like me the price won't bother you if the quality is right. And this place is definitely delivers. Highly recommend.

I lived in Edinburgh for 6 months for an exchange semester. I have a huge list of saved cafes in the city and yet I choose to go to lady and the bear over and over again. It’s bright has such a nice atmosphere, the staff is super nice and the drinks are very good! My favorite is the mocha with organic cacao :) They have WiFi and an area to use laptops which is rare to find! They also have outside seating. I am genuinely gonna miss this place! 🐻🫶🏼☕️

The EDINBURGH PIZZA is amazing!! We really enjoyed it! And the coffee was also great, they baked the beans by themselves. We spent a lovely evening here

We stumbled upon this café by chance while looking for a brunch spot, and it turned out to be a lovely surprise. The place has a raw, rustic vibe that feels very current and full of character. The menu features specialty coffee with a wide range of drinks, as well as a tempting selection of sweet and savory options. We tried the ultra-soft cinnamon roll – simply delicious – and the savory pancake plate “Malvolio”: homemade pancakes, halloumi, sausage, poached eggs, and spinach. Everything was excellent! A small downside: the poached eggs weren’t runny and had an industrial texture, which felt a bit off compared to the quality of the rest. On the drinks side, the tea and long black were spot on – no complaints at all. The chai was well-spiced and flavorful, though a bit too sweet for our taste. Special mention for the carefully chosen tableware, which added a nice aesthetic touch to the experience. A few areas for improvement: – It would be helpful to clearly display the laptop usage policy (time limits, dedicated tables, required consumption, etc.) to avoid misunderstandings. – The Wi-Fi could definitely be simpler to use 😉 Shoutout to the team – dynamic and welcoming – they really contribute to the good vibe of the place.

If you come be on a Monday or Tuesday, the hot kitchen’s closed. Some of the baked stuff on offer are not all fresh. We ordered a focaccia sandwich which looks great but quite clearly the bread was not baked that day and as such the sandwich was hard to bite. The reason given is because it’s toasted. To be fair they did offer to switch (other items are of lesser value). The Spanokopita didn’t live up to expectation. Such a promising looking cafe, not sure we’ll return.
Sim N — Google review
This is the worst value for a £6 coffee I’ve ever had in Edinburgh. Essentially you just pay extra £3 for a bit of condensed milk added to their espresso. The cinnamon rolls were really dry and hard to chew, I wish they had more filling and moisture. Also, was it necessary to write such a complex WiFi password? I can’t imagine if someone dyslexic was trying to read it. Just embrace the 21st century and print a QR code for WiFi connection.

The artisan bakery Greek Artisan Pastries, located on Bread Street close to the EICC, is acclaimed for its quality baked goods and service. The shop is supplied by Ariston Foods Ltd, a Greek import company, and locals highly recommend it. Food, service and value for money all scored top marks from customers.
By chance that this place was open so yeah, it's like the place to go. At about 10am, we were heading towards Edinburgh Castle but the weather was too cold for us to handle... Hahahaha ... So after we parked the car, we walked around for a few minutes for photos, and we immediately decided to get something warm to drink instead. Let's dive in. Food: Pastries looked extremely attractive and appealing. We decided to buy some cookies which were definitely nice-tasting. A note, we did ask d contents before purchasing so it's up to you to verify, as Muslim travellers ya. Service: Staff were very friendly and accommodative to us. Answered our queries very well and were patient with us. Just check out which cookies we took in the pix taken yah.. it's in jars Atmosphere: Location of the shop is basically less than 5mins away from the Carpark of the base of Edinburgh Castle. The shop looked very welcoming and there we some board games that we could use to spend time with family/friends. They also have a coat stub to hang coats right beside the seats. We enjoyed our time thoroughly here.. thank you to this place for opening early.. yayyy 🎉🎉🥳🥳 Cheers!

AMAZING PLACE! You can't get anything better in the area, just don't bother. Best coffee ever, best pastries ever. Pleasant atmosphere, very clean. You have to try all of their pastries! Mushroom, leak, spinach and courgette pastry are a MUST. I only hope the place could stay open for longer hours but understandable that they can't. We love you guys! <3

Nice little spot. The vanilla bougatsa was really delicious and rich. The sausage pie had hot dogs in it, which I thought was funny, I was expecting real sausage. Next time I'd get the spinach & feta bougatsa instead and skip the hot dogs breakfast! Good coffee too.

As a Greek that lives abroad I was extremely impressed with the variety of products this place has. I am not talking only for the good that they bake but you can find literally anything from Greece. I was just amazed. We got breakfast from there and of course a freddo espresso was a must to accompany our pastries. Everything was very tasty! I highly recommend you to visit this place and try all the Greek goods they have!

Thanks greek artisan pastries…… you have wonderful customer service.you make my friend’s birthday very special by making an instant surpise cake with pastries and orange nests. He and i really appreciated it. If we ever visit again in Edinburgh we will definitely visit you.lots of love💖

Have been to this place a few times as my son is half Greek and also it’s in town. One specific woman that works there and has been there for years, is extremely blunt and not friendly at all with us, to the point she won’t even make eye contact, but with local Greek customers is a totally different person, chatty and friendly, why is this? The other store they have in Portobello is brilliant, they recognise us every time, are always happy and friendly, especially when we speak Greek. So beware of which coffee shop you choose, I know where I will stop going from now on. If I could give 0 star I would. Perhaps the owner should look into training their staff in customer service, as this is not acceptable.

Lupe Pinto's Deli is a one-stop shop for the spice lover with a wide variety of Mexican, Caribbean, American, Asian and generally international foods. The deli is staffed by extremely helpful women who can help you find anything Mexican and provide delicious tortillas from London. It's surprising to find so much beer at the deli, which makes it perfect for those looking for some refreshment on a hot day.
I called my mom and cried happy tears finding this place so… 🥹❤️ grateful to find a spot that stocks all the things I need to cook my favorites. Una vida sin Goya o adobo no la soporto 🤣 THANK YOU!

This is my go to for all things Mexican and have never had any issues with quality or selection! However, the new move to paper packaging around the Monterey Jack has been a complete let down- especially at £4 a block. The old, original packing (presuming vacuum sealed) used to last for ages in my fridge without any compromise on freshness however, this new packaging makes the cheese go rock hard and all cracked. I’m sure it’s still edible however it’s impossible to grate for nice nachos!

Bakery
Lannan Bakery is a recent addition to Stockbridge's bakery scene, drawing in locals with its weekly-changing menu of signature bakes by founder Darcie. The bakery offers classic viennoiserie, custard slices, yum yums, and iced buns alongside limited-run creations using local and seasonal produce.
A Must-Visit for Pastry Lovers! I finally got the chance to try the renowned Lannan Bakery, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation! Given its popularity, we did have to queue for about 40 minutes, but the wait was made more pleasant by a friendly staff member who regularly came out to offer water to those in line — a thoughtful touch that really stood out. The aroma wafting from the open kitchen doors was heavenly and built up our anticipation with every minute. We ordered a latte, tea, croissants, and their famous cardamom buns, and every single item was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The cardamom bun, in particular, was the best I’ve ever had — perfectly spiced, soft, and utterly addictive. Do note: this is a takeaway-only bakery, so there’s no dine-in option. Also, for Muslim visitors, it’s worth knowing that some products contain alcohol or pork gelatin, so be sure to check with staff before ordering. All in all, Lannan Bakery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality, freshly baked pastries. Absolutely worth the wait!
SMR — Google review
We visited this bakery and immediately noticed the long line out the door—a clear sign it’s worth the wait. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, taking the time to give us thoughtful recommendations despite how busy it was. We ended up choosing eight different pastries, each with its own unique flavor and personality. Every bite was absolutely delicious, showing both creativity and passion in the baking. Even in the midst of the hustle and bustle, the team stayed attentive and kind. A true gem for anyone who loves quality pastries and warm service.
Anja S — Google review
Instagram has really hyped this bakery, so the lines are pretty intense. I do not think any bakery is worth waiting an hour and a half. A friend went on a Saturday at 9 am and had to wait that long. The baked goods are yummy, but not that yummy, especially with a farmers market just around the corner offering plenty of great options on Saturdays. We visited on a Friday midday and only waited about 30 minutes. The highlights were the pain au chocolat and the yuzu meringue, both of which were excellent. The focaccia was also delicious. That said, I would not wait over an hour for it. They only had one person making drinks, which slowed things down since many people were ordering both baked goods and coffee. It looks like they are expanding, so hopefully the lines will not be so long in the future.
AB — Google review
I didn’t realise the line for Lannan was that long, but I decided to wait and see what all the fuss was about; and I’m so glad I did! I ordered the cardamom sweet pastry and the vegetarian cheese focaccia, and both were absolutely delicious!!! The flavours were perfectly balanced, fresh, and clearly made with care. It was definitely on the pricier side, but completely worth it for the quality and experience. The only downside is… now I know it’s worth the hype, which means I’ll have to face that long line again next time! Totally recommend if you’re in Edinburgh and love amazing baked goods.
Sahar B — Google review
Without a doubt the best baked goods I’ve ever had. The flavors, the way they are baked, filling and toppings, etc. are exquisite. The only issue is wait time. We got there 15 minutes before opening and it took over an hour for us to finally order. But it was worth it.
Keenan E — Google review
Lannan bakery is worth the hype! We visited on a Friday morning around 10, did about 30 mins of queue but it went on smoothly and we were provided the menu and info about any items that were sold out already. Thankfully my beloved cardamom bun was still available and I can confirm it is just as good as the one I had at juno bakery in Copenhagen! Absolutely beautiful.
Paola — Google review
We have traveled to Edinburgh mainly to visit Lannan bakery, it was my dream for a long time. I must admit I had huuuge expectations. And I didn’t leave disappointed. The pastries are from another world and they deserve all the “hype” around them. As we all see on instagram to get your hands on these pastries it may require to queue a little bit, so I was ready for it and I don’t consider it a problem. After our first We happily waited next day again as we already knew it will be worth it and couldn’t resist trying more. All sweet and savoury pastries were full of flavour and incredibly light and airy. The taste of a plain croissant was just incredible. Sometimes you need to wait for what is good :)
Patricia H — Google review
Went on a Sunday and I queued at 8:35am (pictured). By 9am when it opened the queue made a turn around the corner. Water was served while we were waiting which was nice. I got into the shop by 9:15am and left at 9:20am. I could smell the pastries from queueing outside and it was tough to make a decision. All 4 items tasted heavenly, and I don't think there is a wrong choice whichever you choose. Looking forward to returning during my next visit to Edinburgh!

Patina Bakery is a stylish yet laid-back brunch spot located near the Edinburgh Park tram stop. The bakery offers a pleasant kitchen view where guests can watch croissants being made while enjoying coffee with friends. The menu features both sweet and savory options, such as smoked trout sandwiches and pain au chocolat desserts. While prices are on the higher side, the quality of food justifies it. Parking can be challenging for those arriving by car, but it's conveniently located for tram users.
I visited today and have been to this bakery a few times and it is always amazing. My favourite things are the sandwiches especially the chicken Caesar salad one. Everything is spotless including the toilets and the service is fantastic. I have never been to a place where every single member of staff is so friendly and welcoming it really makes the experience even better. I would really recommend!!!
Hally G — Google review
Arrived fairly late on a Friday afternoon with the bakery closing at 1530. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic, and allowed us to stay with our drinks and Pain au Chocolat 15 minutes after closing so we could catch up for longer. The quality is excellent but the prices are just about excessive, and I thought the sandwiches and bakery items were particularly expensive. Once ordered on a quiet afternoon my name was shouted over and I was expected to carry my hot drinks and bakery items without a tray. The staff could see me struggling and offered to help but felt a tad confused why they couldn't bring this a short distance and prevent an accident waiting to happen from me and save the embarrassment :p Hope to be back soon nevertheless!

Lovely visit to Patina today. Staff were friendly. Aesthetically pleasing inside I had the cheese and tomato croissant which was delicious. Would recommend. However the white chocolate matcha was watery and did not taste of anything. Disappointing for £5.50 But overall a lovely place, definitely worth a visit for the excellent pastries

Patina has a lovely assortment of baked items to try with rich coffee options. Towards the noon hour, they bring out savory focaccia. Staff were very watchful of guests' coming and going and kept tables cleared. Bathrooms were tidy. Wi-Fi available. Parking is free if you are in and done in less than 1 hour. But many patrons opted to linger, which was a little frustrating on a rainy say, with half the patio inaccessible. Patina is obviously well-known beyond Edinburgh, as noted by quite a few patrons with luggage.

Nice Times Bakery is a small but impressive bakery in Edinburgh that offers a variety of delectable treats such as breakfast rolls, sandwiches, focaccias, cakes, and pastries. Their signature cruffin, a croissant-muffin fusion, is not to be missed. While the seating area is limited, their creations can also be enjoyed at their sister cafe, Lovecrumbs. The aroma of freshly baked goods will greet you before you even enter the bakery.
Nice coffee shop with lots of space. Matcha latte was quite delicious. Their bread with jam, butter, and peanut butter was a great breakfast if you are needing something quick. Sandwich was also very good and filling.

Insta-worthy bake shop from the team behind Lovecrumbs, everything in here is begging to be your next grid post. The cinnamon buns and chai morning buns were the best of everything we tried - soft centres but crispy outer layers, sweet but balanced. The raspberry blondie and banana cake were slightly less warmly received, with the former being a touch dry and light on the centrepiece ingredients and the latter lacking in flavour. That said, good coffee and a great place to pick up a weekend treat to go.

Cute little coffee shop! Our first stop when we got in Edinburgh, just before our hotel check in! The lady who served us was friendly and so polite! It was busy and she was by herself but so attentive to everyone. Amazing coffee as well. We ordered a latte and an Americano with a pain au chocolat. I really enjoyed everything. It made my day, really! Highly recommend!

We were early to meet our daughter so we decided to get off Haymarket station and walk to Waverley. So glad we did as we found this gem on the way while looking for a place to eat breakfast. We had sausage rolls and they were really really good. Hubby had cinnamon buns on the side with coffee and I tried the caramelised onion pastry and a latte. Everything tasted divine. They don't just look good, they taste good! I will definitely come back to this place just to eat here again! (In my excitement, I only remembered to take a pic when we were out of the bakery already. Haha)
Grace D — Google review
Nice little bakery. Shop could have done with a tidy up as there were used dishes still on tables. Greeted by friendly staff who was knowledgeable about the items. However, I felt a little pressured into making my decision on what I wanted. I don’t think it was intentional. I ended up going with the custard filled cronut and the pumpkin spiced pastry bun. Both of which were large. The pumpkin bun was not bad, although it would have been more enjoyable if it had a filling. The cronut was tastier with a nice vanilla filling. Both buns were slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The cakes looked nice with very unique flavours so I’ll maybe grab a slice next time I am in the area.
Chaz C — Google review
Now this is a hidden gem of a place. Freshly baked behind the scene you can smell it before you get to it. Hot baked bread, dreamy cronuts and slices of temptation in the window. Excellent coffee and great service. Breakfast in Edinburgh sorted. Or just go when you have a craving! Only thing I will say is they probably need one extra bod behind the counter as it dis get pretty busy for one person to take orders, make coffee and take payments. Thankfully this is Scotland so actually no one seems to mind waiting. And to be fair it's so good, waiting a bit is no biggie. I predict they will need a bigger place for seated in soon!

Amazing vegan treats, we love the cronuts, the peanut butter crinkle and the chai latte! During Covid time we routinely went for a treat on Saturday morning getting our treats from the side window (see photo). Update 27 February 2022 cappuccino and chai tea still amazing! Increased selection of savoury baked goods, but our favourite are still the white chocolate and raspberry blondies!

Moo Pie Gelato, located on St Marys Street and also present at The Pitt Market on weekends, is a unique gelateria in Edinburgh known for its unconventional flavor combinations. From pickle and cream cheese to roasted strawberry soft serve ice cream sandwiched between buttery shortbread with roasted marshmallow fluff, Moo Pie offers both weird and wonderful options.
I got the seasonal cookie ice cream sandwich which was peanut butter soft serve between two brown sugar chocolate chip cookies topped with caramel and peanut nuts. I love peanut butter so this was a winner for me. The soft serve has a great peanut butter flavor and the chocolate chip cookies and peanuts add much needed texture. The gelato flavors looked good and we also tried the 99 which was good. This is worth a stop for a sweet treat.
Vivian A — Google review
99's dulce de leche was weak, the base of the gelatos are not rich enough, but for Edinburgh standards it's definitely good. The umm ali was interesting with the cardamom flavour
Yizhou W — Google review
Writing this review made me realise quite how many times I’ve been to Moo Pie. The gelato is consistently great, there’s always a good mix of crowd favourites and unique flavours and the ice cream sandwiches change monthly. I also love that you can get a soft serve here. This is by far my favourite gelato spot in Edinburgh. There are others that are good, but this is my personal top choice.
Maddie B — Google review
Be warned: this gelato is going to ruin ice cream for you. Once you’ve tried it, everything else will pale in comparison. Guys, this is hands down the best ice cream I have ever had in my life! Not just in Edinburgh. Not just in Scotland. Across the globe. I’ve travelled far and wide, and nowhere has come close to what they create here. From that moment on, every scoop of ice cream anywhere else will be measured against this, and spoiler alert: nothing will ever match it. This is truly a not-to-miss spot. Live in Edinburgh? Go. Visiting? Go. Gelato enthusiast willing to travel? Book your ticket. It’s a tiny, independently owned shop, everything lovingly homemade and you can taste that care in every bite. The only way this gelato could get any better is if it was calorie negative - you know, the kind of food that burns calories just by eating it. At that point, we wouldn’t be talking about ice cream anymore. We’d be talking about divine intervention. The flavours? Rich, bold, unforgettable. The texture? Silky, velvety, melts before you even realise. It’s the kind of ice cream that doesn’t just sit on your tongue — it sings. The richness of the flavours, the smoothness, the creaminess - it’s extraordinary. Honestly, even if you’ve had a rubbish day, one scoop from here can turn it around. I PROMISE! So yes, five stars. Absolutely. But also beware. Once you know what true gelato tastes like, you’ll never be satisfied with anything less.
Yianna P — Google review

Excellent gelato. We travel the world for gelato and this is one of the top 5. We even make it ourselves at home with a commercial machine. I appreciate the attention to detail. They have a Carpigiani pasterurizer in the kitchen which means they make their own ice cream base. The umm al flavor (cinnamon, cardamom, coconut, pistachio, candied cashews) was fantastic and the carrot cake with cream cheese was awesome. Appreciate the originality. We will be back.

My favorite gelato spot in town! The flavors are amazing — Carrot Cake and Salted Dark Chocolate are my top picks so far. The queue is pretty tolerable compared to the more touristy gelato places, especially the one in Grassmarket. The staff are super friendly, and the prices are pretty affordable. It’s definitely better value to go for the two-scoop option — it’s just a small extra cost, and you get to try two flavors!

The Cinnamon Bun soft serve was so subtle and absolutely divine. The salted dark chocolate was absolutely brilliant. Not to be dramatic, but definitely the best gelato I've had in Edinburgh, and I've had a lot! So delicious I forgot take a picture until I was very far through oops

The Elephant House, located in downtown Edinburgh, is a relaxed and writer/reader-friendly cafe where J.K. Rowling spent time writing the Harry Potter series. Although it's known as the 'Birthplace of Harry Potter,' Rowling has clarified that she had already started writing the series before coming to Edinburgh. The original location of the cafe is currently being rebuilt after a fire, but it has temporarily moved to a second location on Victoria Street.
Even if it’s not the real on cafe that JK Rowling wrote down the story cause the real one is under construction, the era and the atmosphere make it almost the same. If you are a real Potterhead, this is your place. Ask for a table on the window just to enjoy the view of the inspiration of Diagon Alley . The whole street has a lot of Rowling’s inspirational quotes so you should try it. The menu has a lot of choices but in my opinion it’s a bit overpriced.

As huge fans of Harry Potter growing up, we were so excited to visit The Elephant House in Edinburgh during our trip in August 2024! Although the original location had burned down, we went to the new location along Victoria St, and the entire experience was truly magical. We had brunch there, and the highlight of our visit was definitely the butter beer! The atmosphere was cozy and filled with charm, and it felt like a true part of the Harry Potter legacy. A must-visit for fans and anyone looking for a unique, dining experience in Edinburgh!

Eight Elephants is such a fun spot — especially if you're into Harry Potter! The themed decor gives off serious Hogwarts vibes, and it’s perfect for snapping photos or just soaking in the magical atmosphere.

This one at victoria next to the context museum is open. The original one is still being repaired. The shop area here has the pictures and desk with notebook folks can write on and review JK items. As for the butterscotch beer, for those that appreciate it, it’s quite good. The kids had 2 as they were so good. For adults, the Boozy alcohol butterscotch one rocked. Totally enjoyed it. Got some croissants and caesar salad with it. All was good but bill was well over 100 pounds for the 5 of us. Regardless, everyone left satisfied with the food and drinks. Customer service was nice as well! Great place for tourists visiting and experiencing harry potter history and experience. The restrooms also came in very handy for us while walking through the busy victoria streets. Anyways, all in all - A great tourist stop

The Elephant House is one of Edinburgh’s most famous cafés — largely because of its connection to J.K. Rowling and the early days of Harry Potter. Situated at 21 George IV Bridge in the Old Town, its back room overlooks Edinburgh Castle, offering a lovely, inspiring view. Fans often call it the “birthplace of Harry Potter,” and while Rowling herself corrected this claim — saying she didn’t start writing there, but she did write part of her early books inside its walls — the café still has a very real link to her creative journey. Inside, the atmosphere is warm, calm, and very writer-friendly, with plenty of corners to sit, reflect, or pen down ideas. The bathrooms, in particular, are a quirky highlight — covered in Harry Potter–themed graffiti and messages from fans. Tragically, the café suffered a fire in 2021 that caused smoke and water damage. However, one of the most meaningful pieces of its history — the wooden table where Rowling wrote — was salvaged and preserved. The Elephant House has since reopened (now at 30 Victoria Street) and continues to welcome visitors. If you’re a Harry Potter fan or just love cafés with a literary vibe, the Elephant House is a must-visit in Edinburgh.

🪄 The birthplace of Harry Potter — fyi, i'm huge fan of harry potter and the city that unexpectedly became one of my all-time favorites. I didn’t know much about Edinburgh before arriving. Honestly, even on the day I landed, I couldn’t quite picture what this city would be like. The reason I came was simple: I’d read that this was where J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter — and that many of Edinburgh’s corners had inspired the magical world and its characters. Plus, the iconic Hogwarts Express-like train runs nearby through the Highlands. So, naturally, the very first place I visited was The Elephant House Café. ☕ At the entrance, a sign reads “Birthplace of Harry Potter,” and inside, photos of J.K. Rowling are proudly displayed. She used to sit here every day, writing Harry Potter while gazing out at the beauty of Edinburgh — all during her most difficult years. I got there early in the morning and was lucky enough to enjoy the cozy, quiet vibe before it filled with tourists. I ordered a café latte — honestly, not the best coffee I’ve had in the UK, but who cares? I didn’t come here for the coffee 😅 Also, I ordered a large, and it came in a literal bowl. Be prepared! 📝 The restroom walls are covered with messages from Harry Potter fans around the world. There’s everything from magical spells, quotes, fan messages, even letters to J.K. Rowling. Two that stayed with me: “You taught me how to read, love and believe” and “Thank you, JK, always.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. Even if you’re not a big fan of harrypotter, Edinburgh is simply incredible. Thank you, J.K. Rowling, for gifting us such a masterpiece 💫

It is a must see if you are a Harry Potter fan and there is something magical about the venue. However, it was rather expensive and service was long and not like I had experienced in other places in Scotland.

They roast their own beans weekly and offer freshly brewed coffee each day. The café also sells branded cups and ships their products globally. Additionally, they have a selection of small bites that complement their local brew.
I finally made it to this lovely coffee shop after hearing about it for a while, and I’m so glad I did! It’s such a cozy spot, with outdoor seating that’s perfect for enjoying the sunshine with a coffee. The desserts are incredible – especially the Basque cake, which is my all-time favourite. Honestly, I don’t think it could be made any better than here! Their chai latte is also absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

A great place for a coffee and cake ! We popped in here after walking up from Stockbridge just to try this place as we had never been here before, we were not disappointed ! We were welcomed by a very pleasant waitress who took our order of coffee and tea along with two amazing brownies. It was a nice day in Edinburgh so we sat outside which is rare and enjoyed our purchase . The drinks and brownies were so good we will definitely be back also staff so welcoming, thanks.

Fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. They have excellent speciality coffee, including filter batch brew which was absolutely delicious - extremely flavoursome and very well-brewed (and I’m a bit of a snob about coffee). The grilled cheese is beautifully balanced with chilli jam, and the roll with the bacon bap was lightly toasted to just the right level. They serve pastries too.

After exploring the Dean Village area, I stopped by this coffee spot I’d had saved after a friend recommended it. It was a busy Sunday afternoon, so I grabbed a matcha to go instead of sitting in. The drink was lovely and the staff kind - I would definitely be back another time to try their sweets when it’s a bit quieter.

Mixed feelings! They have a beautiful array of food, however I found it wasn’t quite as good as it looked. The iced chai borderline tasted like plain milk, besides the cinnamon on top, so wouldn’t recommend. The Lax sandwich was nice, though the bread was a little tough/stale, and the cinnamon bun was a tad dry (but I still enjoyed it)! Ambience is good and staff are smiley. Total for the three items was about £18

I came into the cafe around 11am on a Friday. Firstly I have to say the coffee and the food was lovely. The decor/vibe was nice enough too. However, all that was ruined by possibly the rudest server I have ever come across. The young man working the till had a stinking attitude. It felt as if I was personally assaulting him with my custom. Never in my life have I been spoken to like that by someone in the hospitality industry. I noticed it too late as I had already paid- in hindsight I should have asked for an immediate refund. This guy has clearly never been punched in the head and it shows. He also mixed up my order with an other customer and persisted to argue with said customer adamant that he hadn’t gotten anything wrong. I’m wondering at this point if he was just completely out of it- high or something similar.

We were left waiting at the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 10mins before we were even acknowledged. It was a busy service but several staff clearly saw us waiting. We ordered coffee and buns. We got the coffee which was lovely but we never got the buns. They did apologise when we mentioned it while paying (we couldn't wait for it any longer after we finished our coffee). They could've been short staffed or just had an off day but it left us feeling disappointed and reluctant to go back again.

Baked goods look amazing, cappuccino is a second rate flat white, why the tiny cup? Beans are too bitter with no balance. The person who served us was sarcastic and rude, when the drinks were made, there was no “2 cappuccinos” announced, just plonked there looking like 2 sad cups, forgotten about. When we asked if we could get the baked goods ourselves or whether they’d grab them, it was a “yeah you get them” dismissively. Disappointed, looked great, lacked everything I’d hoped for.

The space features charming elements like chipped tiles, hanging lights, and exposed brick. Known for its delectable donuts and cinnamon buns, it also offers top-notch specialty coffee sourced from renowned roasters like NOMAD and The Barn.
So glad we made a quick stop here. I cannot stop thinking about the jasmine iced latte and the cinnamon bun I had here, 10/10. Every element of the sandwich was fresh, the bread was made by them too. I’m not a huge fan of donuts, but these looked really good and since they have mini versions I took one for my boyfriend and he liked it a lot. There are only very few tables, but worth the wait or take away.

Room Rumours Coffee is a hidden gem in Edinburgh — their coffee is really top quality, and you can tell they take their craft seriously. They rotate through different European roasters, so every visit feels fresh and exciting. The pastries are another highlight: their donuts are fluffy and full of flavor, and the cinnamon buns are just divine. They also have vegan options, which is great. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, housed under the arches of East Market Street with exposed bricks and cozy lighting. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate — they really care about giving a great experience. One minor thing: the seating area is quite small, so it can get busy. But even if you end up taking away, the food and coffee are totally worth it. Overall, Room Rumours Coffee is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys high-quality specialty coffee and delicious baked treats in a charming, laid-back setting.

The Palmerston, located in the heart of Edinburgh's West End on Palmerston Place, is a charming restaurant and bakery with a European bistro atmosphere. The establishment prides itself on sourcing high-quality ingredients from local suppliers to create a daily-changing menu that ensures the freshest dishes.
A comfortable, rustic atmosphere that does comfortable and rustic so well. The three of us shared three appetizers, three mains, and three desserts and it was all delicious. In particular, it was the best goat I’ve ever had. Not gamey at all. The squid was tender and delicious. The slow roast pork loin - we could have ordered two more for dessert. The desserts were all delicious, particularly the malt ice cream with honeycomb. Finished with a glass of Sauternes. Very nice and highly recommended. A place to go if you want to dress casually, and feel like you are going to your grandmother’s farm who picks the finest from her own farm.

A long time coming, I've been wanting to try The Palmerston for ages and it didn't disappoint. Went for the set 3 course lunch menu which for £24 was very good value for money. The food is rustic, filling and full of flavour. The pork Ragu was the highlight, there's Italian restaurants out there that don't get near that depth of flavour. The service was excellent and the cocktails are really good and well priced, especially for the area. The main menu sounded excellent and the pies look amazing, I'll need to come back to try them

Best meal of our vacation. The vibe was perfect. Quiet, but unpretentious. Filled with neighborhood locals impressing their friends. Waiter was funny but professional. You can tell everything is locally sourced and super fresh. Zucchini appeared twice on their menu, and was as good as it gets. Even fried as an appetizer, the actual flavor of the vegetable was prominent. I had lamb, the wife had pasta. Both were excellent. They had some unique cocktails that were well thought out. I saw people eat quickly and leave, and other tables linger for a long time. It's that kind of place where you have the kind of meal you want.

Had been meaning to try The Palmerston for ages – it feels like a bit of an Edinburgh institution now – so finally went for Sunday lunch. Definitely worth booking ahead. We started with the burrata with broccoli and a rabbit tagine. Both were genuinely great – loads of flavour and felt really well put together - highlight if the meal. For mains, I had the pork schnitzel. It was tasty and the herb crust was lovely, but it was a touch on the dry side – still enjoyable, but after the starts were so good it was a little less exciting. The space itself has a nice relaxed feel, with tons of natural light coming through the windows, which makes it a really pleasant place to sit for a slow lunch. Overall: very glad we finally went. Would definitely go back, maybe to try something different for the main next time.

Absolutely gorgeous place. Gorgeous food, a wonderful bar selection with barely any mainstream bottles on display, shelves of fermenting and steeping ingredients and a warm bistro atmosphere. Welcoming staff with a bit of a chip on the shoulder vibe. Only downside was sitting at a table in the back room where periodically glass bottles were being smash-thrown into a bin. Gorgeous space. Would come back.

We had an amazing time here. Beautiful space, genuinely caring staff, and incredible food. The rabbit with polenta and beans was a brilliant twist on an Italian classic, while the pig’s head was an explosion of flavor. The ham with corn felt like a refined take on a Saturday family dish—in the best way. The fig tart was good too, though I’m always a bit underwhelmed when, after such excellent food, dessert ends up being the usual tarts, ice creams, and sorbets. Still, an absolutely fantastic restaurant!

Overall we add a lovely dinner at The Palmerston. Service was excellent and they did their best to accommode us with our restrictions. On top we had a good chat with on of the waiters. We like the place and the vibes, casual. Place can be a bit noisy but it’s part of it. Food wise, for sure we enjoyed the dishes and appreciated the food but we did had a tiny issue with the seasoning … unfortunately on first plate (burrata and peas) didn’t have any making it tasteless and at the opposite the turbot was over. Well It happens sometimes… Anyway we had a great time and we will recommend this place !

Great spot in Edinburgh with excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Reservations are required (no walk-ins). The brisket pie was huge and delicious, the salad and aubergine starter were both great, and the panna cotta dessert was lovely. We first heard about The Palmerston through Top Jaw, and it lived up to the recommendation. The atmosphere feels like a date spot, with most tables filled by couples. We would have loved to try their pastries, but they were closed on Monday. Definitely a place we’d return to on our next visit.

Had breakfast here and ordered coffee, cinnamon buns, morning roll and frittata. They have ample seating considering the location and have high chairs available for babies. The cinnamon buns was full of flavour and the morning roll tasted so fresh and yummy. Too many onions in the frittata for my liking but the ingredients were definitely fresh and full of flavour. The food is very very tasty and you can easily spot that they use freash and good quality ingredients. The only comment/suggestion is that they may need to slightly expand the menu. After couple of times it may start to be repetitive if you don't want to expand on the cakes. Eitherway, a must visit place, looking forward for the next time!

This charming eatery captures the essence of traditional Parisian cafes across its three locations. Known for their generous sandwiches, you can indulge in a mouthwatering pastrami creation piled high with gherkins and emmental cheese on rye bread—perfectly crafted to satisfy your hunger. But that's not all!
Called in when it was really busy with office workers who were in getting carry outs, yet the food was produced really quick. Partner had goats cheese and chilly jam baguette which she said was quite hot but very good, I had the Croque Mossieur, which was one of the best I've ever had, even in France. This was followed by the Burnt Basque cheesecake, if you've never had it then its a must. The coffee is strong and hot and a flat white is how it should be. Loved it.

Popped into Victor Hugo Deli — cheesecake and coffee? Chef’s kiss. But the place felt more like a nightclub than a café. Music was blaring, staff were shouting over it, and honestly, it killed the whole chill vibe I was hoping for. Also… the spoon? Looked like it survived a war. If I wouldn’t let it out of my own kitchen, it shouldn’t be on your table either. Good food, but please turn down the volume and retire that spoon.

Visited Mimi’s Bakehouse for breakfast — a charming spot with a relaxed, self-service setup where you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. They also have an appealing display of croissants, scones, and cupcakes, which adds to the inviting atmosphere. We tried a mix of items: avocado toast, the full Scottish breakfast, French toast, a fruit scone, cupcakes, and cappuccinos. The coffees and scone were both enjoyable, and the cupcakes looked delightful. However, the main dishes didn’t quite live up to expectations — the avocado toast was under-seasoned, the Scottish breakfast was overly salty, and the French toast was overwhelmed by an excess of sauce. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but not one we’d be eager to repeat. That said, a lovely touch was the box of children’s storybooks available — a thoughtful feature for families dining with little ones.

I also had their banana bread, which was nice, simple, and affordable. The aesthetic and ambiance of the place were beautiful, and the toilet was clean, which added to the comfort of the visit. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Natasha, who was especially warm and chatty, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Mimi’s Little Bakehouse is a charming spot with great food, lovely staff, and a cosy atmosphere. I would definitely recommend stopping by.

We couldn’t be happier with Mimi's. On a budget, we ordered a 10 inch chocolate fudge cutting cake for our small wedding. It was beautiful, and easy enough to transport to the venue ourselves. Even though we skipped the tiers and flowers, there was NO compromise on quality or flavor. I'll be dreaming about that cake for a while! Luckily, we can go back for cupcakes any time.

Stopped here for a quick bite and drink on our way to the Edinburgh castle. The scones were delicious and baked to perfection. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were all on point. The cheese and chives scone was mind blowing!! Can’t go wrong with the amazing service here. This is right across from Waverley on Market street. Make sure to pay a visit.

August_21 Coffee House is a cozy and intimate spot located in the Southside of Edinburgh. The owner, Savannah Banks, took over the shop to create a community space with a living room vibe. They serve coffee from an eco-friendly roastery and offer alternative milk at no extra charge. The cafe provides a welcoming atmosphere for studying or relaxing, with WiFi, plenty of plugs, and a selection of sandwiches, cakes, and scones.
A hidden gem in Edinburgh, a very cozy environment that breathes creativity. Nice food with options for veggie and gluten free, a very nice coffee, friendly welcoming staff and artwork on the walls. Oh and plenty of board games and books to enjoy! Didn't try the cakes but they looked amazing!

What a fantastic little place right off of The Meadows. A cozy, down to Earth vibe, always presenting soulful artwork from local artists. Wonderful baristas, as well. Do yourself a favour and try the Cortado.

Shop was clean and had a nice vibe to it, staff where extremely friendly. the coffee was excellent with goated latte art, they also had a elite selection of board games and books. art work for sale that was cool and interesting. as locals definitely planning a return visit to try the food and would recommend a visit!

Lovely, cosy, chilled-out, laid back vibe about the place — great spot to settle in. The tea, coffee and other drinks are both excellent, and I like the relaxed atmosphere. I have to say though, I do not find the staff welcoming or friendly, for anyone who feels that's important. One Staff member completely forgot my drink, though I was then successfully refunded.

Had the cinnamon bun and the London Fog. Very lowkey atmosphere.

One of my favourite coffee shops in Edinburgh. Great espresso and delicious freshly made sandwiches and cakes! Chilled atmosphere perfect for studying.

It was a lovely day outside and I chose August 21 for my study session today. There is wifi and plenty of plugs. Such a cozy atmosphere with the nicest staff. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and coffee. There are more spaces at the back and some books, board games and cards for people to enjoy. Very dog friendly as well with available dog treats. There are also some beautiful local art on the walls that I didn't put here because you should definitely see for yourselves. I recommend a visit whether you just need some coffee to take away, want to enjoy your book in peace or need a study space that will keep you focused!

Kilted Donut, located in Leith, Edinburgh, is a popular spot for freshly-made treats and weekly-changing flavors. They offer adorable kilties, which are miniature doughnuts available in various flavors. The establishment has gained attention for its Tunnocks Teacake Donut, which went viral on social media. Customers praise the clean and friendly atmosphere of Kilted Donut locations and recommend trying different menu items each week.
I stumbled upon Kilted Donut by chance and was genuinely surprised by the wide variety of vegan options available. I ended up choosing the Pistachio Crunch and it was absolutely perfect. Super tasty, with a great texture — the dough was nice and fluffy without being soggy. Really impressed, especially as a spontaneous find. Will definitely be back!

Amazing donuts! They have a great selection of donuts and coffees. We ordered the iced mocha and the iced strawberry matcha, as well as the biscoff and espresso donuts. The server was very nice and polite despite how hot it was outside and inside! Definitely worth a stop
E M — Google review
Loved the donuts here! These were some of the best we've ever had! They were massive for the price, too! The staff was so kind with recommendations as well. I'd skip Lannan and visit this again and again! Bonus: Great views of the castle right outside the shop!
Whitney S — Google review
Had the white chocolate raspberry donut and it was really good. Thicker dough than a typical donut, but still solid. Also liked that it wasn’t overly sweet.
Allie P — Google review
A lot of fun and different donut flavors. We tried a jammy and fudgey donut. The donuts were just ok. I didn't feel like there was anything extra special about them. I wouldn't go out of my way to get a donut from Kilt.
Vivian A — Google review
Some of the best doughnuts I’ve had. A soft, pillowy interior and the Cranachan flavours shone through. No queue at all and in a lovely area to enjoy your snack with a view of the castle to behold.
Daryl M — Google review
Take away as Interior very small, limited space so not much seating space , also next to door so cold. Interesting selection of donuts but looks better than it taste . Same base dough do the doughnut, slight larger than the average donut . Top layer sugar paste with pistachio crumbs The pistachios are nice but generally just a sweat donut and overpriced The flat white was good albeit very small.
Travelling D — Google review
The shop is pretty cute but you can’t sit inside, which was fine since I came on a sunny day so I could easily sit outside and enjoy the sun. The donuts are really pretty, but they don’t taste that special. For the price I expected something more for example a yummy filling or something but it was really just a plain donut with a bit of pistachio on top. The strawberry matcha I ordered was unfortunately too sweet for my taste. The staff was really nice though!

Fortitude Coffee Stockbridge in Edinburgh is a popular spot known for its complex coffees made with filtered water and single origin beans, such as the La Palma from Peru. The coffee shop offers cheery service and tempting displays of baked treats from nearby Twelve Triangles. Despite its limited seating, it's worth the wait during busy times. Additionally, their expertise in coffee making and use of high-quality beans make it a must-try for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
Came here on a recommendation and the coffee did not disappoint. Beautiful mocha, smooth and just the right balance of coffee to chocolate. Nice selection of cakes etc of which, some were vegan. Nice hidden gem off the main street but worth the extra steps to find it.
Rachel B — Google review
The cappuccino was quite sour to my taste. I could not differentiate any interesting flavours in it. The staff were not as welcoming. The latte art was beautiful though! Not sure I would come again but it may work for other people
Alexey S — Google review
Coffee and Chai latte are good, and the atmosphere is calm and lovely. One of the staffs is a bit rude because it was busy? or whatever anyway she spoke very fast which was almost annoyed when I asked again and I felt bad about it. Overall it was satisfying though, I’d recommend here only for native English speakers.
Hye K — Google review
We visited Fortitude Coffee after a recommendation. The coffee shop was quite busy in the morning, so it took a while to find a seat for a sit-in. The staff greeted us warmly and kindly, and they even recommended a few drinks to help us decide. That was a thoughtful gesture, and we appreciated it. My partner and I ordered the iced latte since it was warmer weather when we visited. The coffee had an acidic/sour note that wasn’t too strong, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea. However, they offered a free milk substitution, which was a nice touch. Overall, Fortitude Coffee has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I’d definitely give them another try, but I might try a different drink next time.

Top 1 bakery in London! Pizza danish 100000/10. The danish is crispy from the outside and soft from the inside, tomato sauce, a suuuuper yummy pesto sauce and mozzarella cheese. The best in London! Their sticky cinnamon buns are really good as well!!! Just make sure you go early or you might need to queue for 30ish minutes! Limited seatings available outside with no tables. The staff are friendly and kind!

Kelly's Bakery, located at Sighthill Centre in Edinburgh, has been a favorite among locals for years. The family-owned bakery is known for its delicious hot food and delectable cakes and pastries. One of the must-try treats is their curry pies, which are highly recommended by regular customers. Despite some feedback about portion sizes, the bakery is praised for its hardworking staff and affordable prices.
I tried this bakery recently. I found the staff very friendly indeed, very helpful and also very patient (sometimes I can't decide straight away what I want) It took sometime for me to choose from the extensive menu. Great choices, something for everyone. The prices are very very reasonable. Bakery not visible from the main street, which is such a shame. I'll definitely be back for more.

This was a super little find which I can across on a walking tour in Edinburgh called ‘a wee taste of Edinburgh. Such a lovely family run business and great fresh products. Little seating area for you to sit in and have a coffee which I prefer to look after small local business rather than the big chains. Owner took the time to go over the history of the shop and how they came to owning it which was a lovely touch. Black pudding scotch eggs are unreal .... everyone must try these.

I found the pies here were tasty and great for a quick snack while still being reasonably priced, allowing you to get a taste of Edinburgh without breaking the bank! The pastry was flaky. I would recommend here highly to others especially if on a tight schedule and just wanting to grab something quickly while continuing to explore.

I've been having scotch pies at home since I was a kid from a local bakery. I was excited to try an authentic one in Scotland. I wasn't sure if I had been having authentic ones at home (Michigan usa). We grabbed 2 for lunch. They were so good. The flavor was great and how they are at home. These were cheaper and had more meat though so I was happy. Also, the crust is way better here. They were served HOT and had a nice crunch to them. We ended up coming back again for a late-night snack that same day. We are tempted to stop by again before leaving Scotland, although we have left Edinburgh.
