Atmosphere is very chilled with wood tables and chairs and stone walls. It is a lot bigger thank it looks from outside. I'd also say once you are past the threshold it's quite inviting, not sure the outside gives that feel. The range of ale/beer is good. The bar staff are very friendly and helpful. I'm not keen on the traditional tasting beers/lagers and the staff suggested the raspberry wheat beer which was delicious and very drinkable. I'd give yourself a good 30 -45 minutes to enjoy one. We were just over £12 for two drinks.

We came for the selection and it did not disappoint. They have great beers both on tap and in their fridge. Service was standard, not great but no complaints. The mish mash of tables and chairs is kinda neat, it gives off a real bachelor pad vibe, and I liked that they actually have a bunch of hanging bats....yup, they do.

Lively bar/pub. Reminded me of Pecos pub in Bangalore! Great whiskey sour and the Arran single malt was heavenly. The house lager is very tasty too. But don't try eating here. They have a tiny vegan menu! There are no hot dogs, alas.

Stopped by The Hanging Bat for a pre-dinner drink on a recent trip to Edinburgh. It’s a bar with real character and not just the painted wall murals, but in the atmosphere too. They weren’t doing food when we visited and I think they had a sign saying the kitchen would be closed for a while. They had a wide range of very different beers on offer, especially if you’re into trying some of the wackier end of the spectrum like sours, fruity beers and the currently over trendy IPAs. They were switching kegs of one flavour out for another one and updating the beers on the board while we were there. It was cool to see. We had a few dietary requirements in the group, and the barmen were happy to modify some of the cocktails to suit, which was nice. I went for an espresso martini and I enjoyed it. We sat, talked, and enjoyed the laid-back vibe. It was a great spot to kick off the night.

Awesome authentic Scottish beef cheeseburger and chili-covered hash browns. Numerous seating options and spaces for groups. Very attentive staff; easy ordering system for food, etc.

Amazing beer but the food is not even Ok. Very fatty and soft fries, onion rings are also wet of fat, not crispy at all.

Good pub! But then, a lot of Scottish pubs seem good. But this is a nice place to hang out.

We enjoyed our dinner and our server Finley was delightful and with great suggestions. I ordered the haggis bon bons, black and blue burger and an Irn Bru. All was delicious. Hubby went traditional with a 9A burger and a soda. he enjoyed it immensely. The French fries were excellent. We finished our meal with a coffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. Yummy.

My second visit in 6 months. The first for lunch and most recently for dinner. Decidedly busier this time and the staff still made room for us in the back dining room. Lots of laughter and cheer in among the patrons a really happy pub to be in. I had the burger and my friend had the mushroom burger with bacon. Both cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Onion rings and chips were crunchy and flavorful. I can’t wait to go back.

Stopped in here for some lunch and I think their burgers might be the best in the world. The 9A was daunting in its appearance but one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. The chorizo scotch egg was also on point! 100% would eat there again!

On 12th July 2025, I visited there with my wife for our lunch. Always, staff were very kind and drink and foods were very good. We enjoyed very much. Thank you. Today 13th January 2024, I visited this PuB first time in this year. All staffs were very kind as usual. All ordered foods were very good as usual. We had very nice time in there. Thank you! We went here for some lunch during the fringe festival and were surprised to get a table. The service was friendly and very quick! The haggis bonbons were delicious and the range of burgers on offer is great. I opted for the Scotsman burger which was very good. The accompanying chips were very tasty too. Drink prices were as expected.

Very nice location at Grassmarket. We got a table on the rooftop and really enjoyed the beautiful weather and terrace. The fish & chips were among the best we’ve had in Edinburgh – crispy and fresh. Most of the staff were friendly, though unfortunately our waitress came across as a bit snobbish. Overall still a good experience.

We've been here for a drink and maybe something to eat. We really wanted a dessert, but the waiter did not bring a menu even though we asked two times for it. Our feeling is that they prefer people on the terrace to just go for a drink and move on quickly :) (they could have said though) That being said: - the terrace is nice, with close view of the castel (if you are lucky enough to see with all the Aperol decor); - the service at the entrance was very kind and helpful! - service on the terrace should be improved. - the drinks are decent & bathrooms are clean.

Gotta say not great! Was excited to come here for some light snacks and a casual dinner, and it was such a miss! The ambiance is great, good music, cute decor, but the rest is just underwhelming. We got the salted pretzel, but it was not salty. At all, no salt to be found!! And the cheese sauce was very gritty and flavorless, which is a bummer because beer cheese is not rocket science especially for a brewery type place. The corn ribs were dry and flavorless, and the sticky jack chicken bites were actually okay but needed some kind of dip to feel complete. We sat with dirty plates on the table and empty drinks for over 30 minutes while the wait staff walked by multiple times and glanced at our table and walked on by. We tried to use the QR code on the table to order more drinks and more food but the items we wanted were not on the menu online. Decided after near 40 minutes we’d to try to flag down a staff member but they were nowhere to be seen which is frustrating. When they finally came over they left the dirty plates that were now neatly stacked at the end of the table. The cocktails were too sugary and were filled halfway which is mental for a 12£ drink. Finished it in three SMALL sips. Taste was fine but overall would pick somewhere else if you’re a foodie. Can’t comment on the view because we were on the first floor but I’m sure it’s lovely based on photos.

We had an awesome dinner at Cold Town House—such a fun and lively spot! There was live music playing on the first floor, which gave the whole place a great vibe. We sat on the second floor where the pizzas are made, and the view from there was a nice bonus. Their focus on craft beer and cocktails really stands out. I had the Strawberry & Pink Pepper Mojito—refreshing with a little kick—while my wife enjoyed the Kiwi + Guava Margarita, which was equally delicious. We started with the beef brisket loaded fries (so good!) and then I had the steak & peppercorn skewer, while my wife went with the chicken Caesar salad. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. Definitely a great spot for good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere in Edinburgh!

Fantastic place to visit in Edinburgh! We had a roof terrace table with spectacular views of the castle, Staff were excellent and attentive, even offered to take pics with the castle behind us before we sat down for a delicious meal of fish and chips and chicken Caesar salad. Loved the atmosphere in the bar on ground floor where the staff worked hard to accommodate groups arriving early for bookings, nothin seemed too much trouble for them! Would definitely recommend for a relaxed dinner on the terrace or for hens and stags on the different levels as there were a few there having the best time! Loved the Photo Booth in the ladies and overall vibe, will be back for sure!!

I celebrated my birthday at Cold Town House rooftop last week, and it turned into one of the most memorable evenings of my life. Caitlyn, who served me, was so kind and welcoming, and she recommended a great vegetarian pizza and drink. When I mentioned it was my birthday, she and Lauren (the manager) went above and beyond — they surprised me with a beautifully decorated brownie presented like a birthday cake. The biggest surprise came when I asked for the bill and was told that the meal was complimentary for my birthday, and I only needed to pay the service charge. Their kindness, generosity, and genuine hospitality truly touched me and made my solo trip feel so special. Thank you Caitlyn and Lauren for making my birthday unforgettable — Cold Town House will always be a place I’ll recommend with a smile.

Decent place, tasters for the HUGE range of beers. Food was good, service good given we had a large party. Rooftop was nice with the views.

Bellfield Brewery, you have my heart. The atmosphere was already lovely, but we happened to visit on quiz night, which made it even more fun and lively. The beer selection was great, the staff were absolutely lovely, and the whole vibe was just spot on. When we went, there was a guest kitchen running — a burger place — and we tried the Oklahoma Burger. It was so good I couldn’t resist getting a second one! Out of the four nights we spent in Edinburgh, we dedicated one to Bellfield, and we’re so glad we did. It was one of the most memorable evenings of the trip. Next time I’m in Edinburgh, this will be right at the top of my list to revisit.

I have been travelling to Edinburgh frequently. Decided to try to find a dedicated GF place and was shocked to see a brewery and restaurant that is GF. The place is fantastic, beer excellent (I will be ordering delivery for Xmas), food was Oktoberfest based, and was really good. I will definitely come back, every time I visit Edinburgh.

A really relaxing atmosphere, really good variety of beer and for Edinburgh prices are very competitive. Friendly staff, welcoming, great music too. Food available including veggie and vegan options. Cool outdoor and indoor space. If beer is not your thing they have cider, wine cocktails and whiskey. A great venue. Had an amazing celeriac schnitzel with vegan haggis and whisky cream sauce and pickled red cabbage, incredible! Will definitely return.

This is an absolute gem. Was staying round the corner just dropped in for a drink. Great beers (and plenty of choice) and was a folk session happening in the bar. Unexpected delight on a Sunday evening

Such a great wee taproom! Great drinks selection, fab atmosphere with good choons, lovely outside space and the Naughty Boi burgers were class. A real hidden gem!

They have a cute outdoor area with cozy booths and multiple toilets so you’re not waiting forever. Their gluten reduced beers are really delicious and they had great food options. We’ve been spoiled with gluten and dairy free pizza, hence the four stars, but it really was not bad! I don’t regret ordering it and would do so again.

We came across this bar after hearing a local guy recommending it to fellow diners on holiday from Germany. As we both like the odd tot of whisky we simply had to visit . The bar has a quaint olde worlde feel to it, with the narrowest bar tables I've ever seen. But for us the highlight is the knowledge and enthusiasm for whisky that the bar staff have. Their Malt of the Month is a great idea. After listening to my preferred tastes in whisky the barman recommended the Smokehead for me and the Ardberg Wee Beastie for my husband. Absolutely, spot on....the Smokehead was exactly the right choice for my palate. We enjoyed it so much we then recommended it to visiting Norwegians sat at our dinner table later that evening. Definitely a destination for whisky drinkers in Edinburgh.

AMAZING service! Despite being in a touristy area, my local friend highly recommended it and it's obvious why - the bartenders explained so much to us about whiskey and let us smell several before choosing. A few great beers on tap too. Cozy seating, nice energy.

Tucked away on a really aesthetic street, this spot has such a great adults-only atmosphere—perfect for a couple of drinks. Prices are super reasonable too, which makes it even better. And honestly, the Scottish pies hit the spot after you’ve had one too many (haha). Definitely worth checking out!

Do not come here for the limited pie menu, come here for the beer and whisky and certainly the atmosphere. Great place to people watch. Fun to see the various people come and go. Nicely situated in a gorgeous area.

The best real whisky bar in Edinburgh as far as we're concerned. The tap beer selection is also incredibly varied, leading to some difficult order decisions! Been coming here for all least 15 years, and it just gets better and better. Dog friendly, which wasn't as common back in the day. The staff fussed over our elderly pug, which was lovely. We will keep coming back!

It was a very cool bar. They have different types of beers and also whiskeys. I haven’t tried the whiskeys, but the beers were so good but only thing they were all warm not cold.

The restaurant is on the smaller side, but they’ve done a great job creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The burger had a unique flavor and came with a side of fries. I’d recommend pairing it with a drink—this is the kind of burger that really goes well with a beer or a glass of wine. 👌

Excellent food here! Staff were friendly and helpful too! I had the Dirty BBQ Chips (Cajun chips, smoked applewood cheese, crispy onions, bacon bits, salt horse ranch & buffalo sauce)…. Wow!! this was soo good!! definitely be back next time I’m in Edinburgh!

Nice to find a pub/bar (thanks Andy) that deviates from the usual Scottish beers and focuses a bit better at proper craft. Well located not far from Princess Street and the Royal Mile and has a good mixed crowd students as well as office workers. It’s on the small side and has an outdoor area of a sort, but the overall atmosphere is pretty good. Has a decent selection of beers in cans and bottles to go.

Great spot to try beers from around the British isles. They'll pour in 1/3rds, 2/3rds or pints for you, so you can assemble your own tasting flight. Staff are knowledgeable and service is good. Enjoyed their cauliflower bites.

If you are looking for Belgian beer in Edinburgh this is your place. Pretty good selection of bottles and competitive prices. Lovely well informed staff. The burgers are delicious. They have a very thin high walled garden with a very loud extractor! Not great for a quiet conversation.

A super cute and cozy place for burgers and beer. Both burgers we tried were delicious, and the fries were well done. The portions aren’t huge, which we actually liked. Absolutely worth it, and the place was full of lovely people.

I've finally made it to Campervan Brewery Taproom and it doesn't disappoint. The weather helps of course. Outdoor beer benches, evening sunshine, breeze, Campervan beer! Heaven! Recommended!

Kind staff. Very large indoor and outdoor space available. A wide array of tasty and locally brewed drinks. Dog friendly.

Hidden away in Leith, a microbrewery with outside seating area and bar. A good range of their own tasty brews and some alternatives if beer is not your thing. Nice atmosphere, we ordered in our own food from a local eatery, which was not a problem. Friendly staff and an interesting walk to the bathroom past the brewing vats. Also very reasonable prices for Edinburgh. Definitely will return.

Excellent service and friendly staff. Great selection of beers. We asked for a flight and were given free tasters of all the beers. Literally tasted 9 beers and one cider, before being asked to hand over a penny! I was surprised that I liked the less alcohol beers which have amazing for 3.3% and 3.8%. Also really appreciated the polite but firm notice pointing out that discrimination will not be tolerated. Definitely worth checking out.

Great pub with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Good beer and food selection, steak frites a tasty choice. Most of all its the friendly staff who look after you and make you feel welcome. Also it's very dog friendly!

Very much enjoyed our short visit to the Innes & Gunn Edinburgh. We had a lovely refreshing lager and also a wee taste of the Innes & Gunn The Original...sweet and full of flavour. We didnt eat so can't comment. Big premises &lots of tables, but it was quiet when we were in and enjoyed the vibe. Bartender very helpful and friendly. Great venue! Will be back! 👍👌🍻🙂

A great spot for late lunch. The Taproom burger and fries were perfectly prepared. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing with ample seating.

What an truly special moment we had here! I was visiting Edinburgh for a milestone birthday and wanted to visit Innis & Gunn as their original is one of my favorite beers in the States. So I reached out and heard back from Laura, the reservation manager. She was so kind and thoughtful and helped make my experience more than I imagined! We own a winery in GA and had just bottled a new bourbon barrel aged red blend that turned out spectacular. So we brought them a bottle of our Cairn View Winery Bourbon Barrel Panther Creek. We couldn’t come over empty handed! We look forward to hearing about it when they open it! We met Joe and Reece who took amazing care of our group. The bread and butter…TO DIE FOR!!! The Mac & Cheese…yum!! And I HIGHLY recommend the Highland Cask ale and the 07VP…omg probably the best beer I’ve ever had! Sadly they are not available in the States ☹️. Just means we will have to make a return visit. All that to say it was SO good we went back the next night for round 2!!! Thank you all for making it such a memorable birthday! I really appreciate what you all did. Slainte mhath!

Decent beer, limited wine selection, pretty good appetizers and fair steak frites. Just don't ask to have a regular steak with the vegan butter, or the staff will give you a really hard time about how one isn't allowed to share that particular entree. Not that I was going to, but the debate went on for far too long (they have a deal that you can get another for free if you finish the first, so they *really* didn't want me sharing the fries, which I wasn't planning to do. I just didn't want my very allergic partner to get sick if he inadvertently tried one, just to be safe). And the wait was *really* long for the entrees. The real winner of the day was the "KFC" cauliflower. Excellent, and I'd come back any day for it! Just not to argue about butter vs. margarine.

Review: BrewDog DogHouse Edinburgh – 4/5 stars We had a fantastic stay at BrewDog DogHouse in Edinburgh. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between fun, comfort and quality – a true paradise for beer lovers. The room was spacious, clean and well-designed, with great little touches like the in-room beer taps and even a shower beer fridge, which was as fun as it sounds. The breakfast included in the stay was excellent, and the restaurant food overall was great – ideal for fueling up before a day out in the city. Service was friendly, and the location couldn’t have been better – just a short walk from Waverley Station and the Royal Mile. The only real downside – and the reason this is a 4-star rather than a 5-star review – was the sofa bed, which unfortunately wasn’t comfortable - especially for two adults - and didn’t live up to the standard of the rest of the room. If you’re planning to share the room with more than two people, this is worth considering. That said, everything else was awesome. If the sofa bed were upgraded, this would easily be a five-star stay. We’d definitely come back – it’s a perfect base for a fun and memorable Edinburgh trip.

The Doghouse in Edinburgh never disappoints. Brilliant rooftop bar with a great atmosphere! Tasty menu, good beers, and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Visited for the first time and we were very pleased! Great beer selection (including non alcoholic) 🍻 and food had us looking at the menu for an hour because everything looked good! We opted for burgers and 100% recommend! 🍔 We walked out FULL and happy and probably so far best burgers and chips we've had in Edinburgh! 😉✨️ ... Also, bathrooms are clean and equipped with emergency items for the ladies should you need it. We also appreciated tge sign on the back of the bathroom doors, more places should get behind doing it!

Can’t go wrong at BrewDog Brewhouse. On the pricey side but worth it. The beer selection plus guest beers is excellent. This one an easy walk from Waverley station. Lovely terrace and immaculate conveniences and rooms on the side for small private groups.

Service was attentive and quick. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. Foods and drinks were of good quality. Only the interior lacked 'cosiness' but that is very subjective.

If you walk down the Royal Mile and get thirsty you should definetely pay a visit to this wonderful craft beer house. They have an amazing selection of beers that is suitable for every taste and also if you like them you can grab a can with you as well. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed when i was there so i couldn’t try their food. The staff is also amazing, friendly and helpfull. If you have difficulty in choosing what to drink they will happily pour you some tester.

My husband and I had a great time! The bottomless brunch was so worth it. The food menu was very different and so made the experience feel more adventurous. Not to mention the extensive drinks menu - any dog would be happy here 😉 I had bought a voucher from ‘buy a gift’, so that was amazing value. We weren’t rushed and we nearly booked a room that was going a bit cheaper that evening, but unfortunately too close to Christmas for us. We will be back!

Wanted to escape the chaos of downtown Ediimburgh and this place piqued my interest. Delicious beers, relaxing vibe and good fellas to chat with. Liked it so much I bought the shirt! If you like tasty bevvies and a fun experience, get your skinny ass to Moonwake!

I usually drink Moonwake in the pub. It was my first visit their brewery. This place is a cool place. There are so many different types of beer, and we could taste any beer before we ordered. Staff are friendly and helpful as well. However, we couldn’t order any food in here except the crisps. I would like to visit here again when they serve food!

Clean modern Brewery / Taproom, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Taproom is upstairs, but there is a lift for wheelchair users/ people with mobility issues. Their Leith Helles, was a stunning version of the style.

Great afternoon at the bewery tap bar. It was very busy which added to the experience with some live music. The DDH beer was delicious and i took 4 cans home with me. I wish them the best of success as the deserve it.

Moonwake is a cool place and that's my first tip. Tip: It gets cold here, even under the heat lamps but bring a coat and come anyway. This is a review of the Moonwalk Taproom. Yeah, there's a brewery here and from those clean and shiny vats come some great tasting, local and craft beer. But what else can I say about the brewery? I suppose I could say that the open entrance space has been used for a local pop up market and it was petite but fun. There were just a few stalls but each one was local, quality and good. The main reason, unless you want to look at shiny vats, to visit is the taproom. The taproom is up a flight of stairs, is on a balcony and overlooks the brewery. Isn't that a great place to enjoy freshly poured pints? Staff here are friendly and since they make the beer on offer are way more involved than some city centre franchise clone. You can meet the owners here. Order at the bar or at the table. I've talked through what I feel like and have had recommendations. Tip: Moonwake is a local treasure, isn't huge so you can strike out and turn up when there are no free tables. Consider getting in touch if you want to bring the office or a group of friends. Pizza! For at least half the time I've been drinking here there's been a deal with Pizza Geeks. That's a brilliant local pizzeria. Use their app to do an "at table" order. Frankly, beer from the brewery served with freshly made pizza carried over the bridge from the local restaurant is amazing. Tip: Follow Moonwake on social media. They're lovely, transparent, informative and it's the best place to keep up with their latest brews and events. I'm a fan but I'm yet to try their e-commerce offer. If I buy a crate of their beer then I'd drink it! Always good to visit a new brewery. This one has a very nice taproom. Dress warm. Place is very cold. Beers were OK but nothing special.

The atmosphere is beautiful and full of character, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the drinks were excellent. They offer a great selection of cask ales and many different types of beer, which makes it a perfect spot for anyone who enjoys trying something new. Highly recommended!

Didn't eat so cannot comment. The food that came out looked and smelled pretty good though. What I am qualified to say is what an inspiring institution the GA is. Incredible decor, superb range of beverages, and staff who are an absolute credit to this establishment and the City of Edinburgh. Lived in Edinburgh all my life until moving to Australia 6 years ago. Nothing cheers my heart more than coming back to this wonderful place. Please don't ever change!!

This place turned my Edinburgh trip into hell! I saw this place on maps and decided to give it a go since it had good reviews. I ordered the fish and chips and a lager to wash it down with. The fish was a haddock and it tasted nice. It had a nice crisp and wasn’t greasy. The pees were horrible but the meal was quite enjoyable overall. All until I had projectile vomiting 2 hours later followed up by a fever and chills for the rest of the night. I’ll give you that much. This meal was the only thing I had that day so it could not have been anything else. I suspect it was the tartar sauce. It was such a disappointment. My short Edinburgh trip turned into a nightmare.

Beautiful, ornate pub. First come, first serve seating downstairs. It was crowded both times I went but most people don’t mind sharing tables. Met a bunch of nice locals and had a few pints.

I was looking for a nice pint of cask ale and they had a great variety of them (the biggest I've seen around). I was offered a proof of a few of them and made my decision. The ale was tasty and the service was great. The atmosphere is that of a traditional pub but with no music, just the sound of dozens of voices echoing around. I strongly recommend it for the ones who enjoy a nice local beer.

Nice bar in a pretty building. Tasty simple bacon cheeseburger nice medium rare. The menu showed £10 burger from 2-3 on weekdays but was charged full price which was a bit disappointing but oh well, tasted good.

Pretty special experience here. More of a locals pub than I expected, rustic doesn’t even begin to describe it. Inside a section of an old church, it’s about as good as it gets for classic pub vibes in Edinburgh. A quiet, older, respectable crowd, most of whom ordered a dram of whiskey along with their beer. Tons of cask options focusing on local breweries and also plenty of drafts and bottles. Had the fish and chips which were delicious although not the traditional coating as they were breaded. HP sauce all over the chips as I’m really starting to like this brown sauce, the preferred sauce in the north. Scottish ale on cask that I ordered was absolutely delicious and paired so well with the food. Incredible!

What a great pub, I think our favourite from our recent visit to the city. Really good craft ales on tap, friendly service, great food, and it doesn't feel like an artificial tourist trap. A good place to hunker down with a book, or come and hang out with your friends.

Amongst top craft beer contenders such as The Hanging Bat and 6 Degrees North, Cloister's has a similar tap range but not the same level of stuffiness or pretentiousness as the latter two. Indeed, it doesn't seem to exemplify any of the more negative qualities of top tier craft beer bars frequently emulate. Their staff are friendly, happy to chat and offer tastings, and go out of your way to make your visit a memorable occasion. Its proximity to the Meadow makes it a nice retreat during the summertime.

Good selection of well-kept beers, unfortunately young chap serving behind the bar was extremely rude and stand-offish, very unhelpful, not entirely sure why. Hopefully he'll decide he's too good for working and leave so I can recommend this bar :)

It's such an amazing bar they had approx 8 types of cask ales and various draught beers. They are Bowbar branch. Got to know yesterday and believe it, it's also amazing 🤩🤩. Their beer were so delicious. We were quite late for dinner but hoping next time I will reach early so can have the food. Amazingly they have 20% off for students. Which is again fabulous. We are talking to Andrews ( quite be wrong with spelling but it did started with A) was so nice and attentive.

Been there at freezing evening -10 in snowy storm. We 4 friends were the very first and only in empty bar. Standing on the counter to order our drinks but the girl behind the counter wasn’t interested to serve us. Anyhow after couple of minutes wait, we got our drinks even she served wrong drinks but we accept it because don’t wanna wait or make an issue. Lovely atmosphere though so we take out seats and start enjoying our drinks but the bar guy leave the main door open and we were sitting just in front of it. I requested him, can i close the door it’s freezing. He replied leave it wide open. So rude service i haven’t received in whole Edinburgh. Thats it we didn’t say anything and left without finishing our drinks. After left, i read all the negative reviews and thought why i never listen to them. So please read before you step in for saving your time and money.

Decent quirky little wine bar. Lots and lots of choices of wine with some good beer/pilsner on tap too. Would recommend booking a table, as may be a risk walking in and expecting a table. At most 4 in a group but will struggle for space and tables for any more than that. Knowledgeable staff from the couple times I've been. From reading the reviews, I personally haven't experienced anythinf negative, so maybe my timing has been fortunate!

The bartender is an expert and a credit to Edinburgh bartending, great atmosphere, you pay a reasonable price for a good atmosphere and good service. They have some whiskeys maybe you haven’t tried and interesting beers and wines. Would definitely recommend.

Tried quite a few well rated bars in city centre and was not impressed so wandered out to this place. Loved its quirky vibes and beer selection. Much more chilled spot which was reflected in its customers. Wish I could have stayed longer and would love so where like as my local pub.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. Blonde bar tender/server super rude, she was serving us and she kept doing other things while we were talking about wine and what we were going to get and she came to us saying she wasn’t gonna charge us for the two drinks we ordered because apparently we were being rude when we were having a separate conversation and she continued to polish glasses and walk around. Then she claimed we were rude for trying to decide what we wanted? Furthermore, she complained that we wanted time on a busy night. There were no other customers waiting to be served. Definitely do not recommend this place, there’s so many good wine bars around Edinburgh, do not waist your time with this one.

A range of wines and tasty olives, and plenty of character. However, I agree with the below reviews that the staff are unwelcoming, rude and actually condescending. I think there are plenty of other wine bars in Edinburgh to try and to spend your money in, I won't return here.

This is a hidden gem near the top of Leith Walk and not far from the Playhouse. Was here for lunch. There's a great selection of beers and a small menu of typical pub grub and several "Margarita Month" cocktails. The decor is dark and cozy and features various artworks and historic posters relating to concerts and plays in Edinburgh. There's also an interactive jukebox. Staff are super friendly and service was great 😃 Would recommend a visit.

The service was friendly, and the pours were good. I've never written a bad review, but I felt like I had to warn against the food. The burger was supposed to come with mushrooms and onions, but neither was included... Just a couple small pieces of beef on on little bun with iceberg and tomato. The coleslaw was wilted and questionable enough we didn't touch it. The dumplings had some frozen veggies in the middle and did not come with the greens that were described on the menu. So many better nearby options for food, and for less money! Good place for beer, though.

Just so you all know This place was epic good. And the service was so quick and people working are extremely Polite , the lady live and the guy Tor something , I'm forgetting the name was amazing and they were so patience with me as I wasn't able to decide what to order for drinks. I literally loved the venue and hoping to revisit them ASAP❤️

Incredible selection of lagers and ales. Amazing decor and delightfully friendly staff. Food was really impressive value, all of this was 30 quid, and it was dang tasty as well. Definitely worth passing by if you're near Leith walk

Hidden gem place that we took a chance on and wasn't dissapointed at all. Friendly staff with a nice welcome. Good atmosphere, nice memorabilia on the walls. Great craft beer selection on the back wall with decent prices. And the Haggis and peppercorn sauce dirty fries were excellent

We had an amazing lunch at this place. Our server was Jamie, who was kind and helpful from the first minute to our table. Even he was happily playing rock paper scissors game with our little boy. Amazing customer service

The restaurant atmosphere is amazing The service was slow even though the restaurant was almost empty I tried all the wings flavors and the varies with the buffalo and dragon spice as the best. Personally I didn’t like the flavor of herby lemon on the wings

We stumbled upon this chain in St. Andrews, and I must say, it was love at first sight. The beer advice is truly excellent, and they offer a beer flight with four different small-sized beers to help you find your favorite. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the category of sour beers. Absolutely fantastic! The prices are a bit high, but it is definitely worth it. We didn't try the food, as we were there just for drinks.

The selection of beers was impressive, and the overall vibe of the place was perfect for a relaxed night out. Excellent boozer. Lots of cask taps. Showcases local brews and ones from further afield. Unfortunately couldn't stay as long as we'd have liked to due to time restraints. Will definitely return for a proper visit.

Malt & Hops. Mates & Hilarity. Mad & Homely. M&H is a perfect pub with cozy interior, stunning exterior and great location. Ideal for locals and for visitors. Arranging to meet my pals is easy, the location is always Malt & Hops. It is my local, even though I live 3km away. I have had some great nights and lunch time pints here, and there will be many more to come.

I’m from Washington state, so I’m blessed with a lot of good beer. Coming to Fierce brewing is like being back home. Hands down the best beer I have had in all of Scotland.

Been here a few times now. Amazing staff, amazing food and amazing drinks. Highly recommended and worth the money. If your near by, swing by here for some of the best selection of beers on tap and some great customer service.

Cozy atmosphere. Microbrews from Aberdeen. Good advise about the beer selection. Solid portion of burger and sandwich. Couldn’t actually tell the difference size wise. Very rich and tasty in both pulled pork sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich and pork burger.

Convenient to our accommodation, The Blue Blazer felt like stumbling into someone’s charmingly eccentric lounge room. Untouched in the best way, with a real sense of character. We dropped in after a morning walk and explore, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed ourselves here. We asked some questions on some of the local ales, and ordered some of their crisps and beer nuts to share. They had a stack of board games, so we grabbed a couple to play. Enjoying our little break, I went back to the bar and asked if we could put a few of the whiskeys together into a couple of ‘build your own’ whiskey flights, for an informal tasting. I looked up the tasting notes and we had fun trying them and rating them amongst ourselves. It was a lovely way to pass some time in the afternoon. The bar staff deserve a wrap: friendly, relaxed, and they knew enough about what they were selling: both with their beers and the whiskeys. They made sure we were comfortable and well looked after in a good-humoured way. I’d definitely pop back in next time I visit Edinburgh.

One of the best spots in the city for cask ale, with a focus on bitters. Very friendly staff and with a lovely, spacious back area, it's a staple of Edinburgh's classic pubs.

Blue Blazer has been on my radar if I was to ever return to Edinburgh and now that has happened. Lovely spot on a quiet Sunday afternoon with a pint of Fyne Ales and my thoughts to myself. Hopefully return before I leave on Tuesday.

Great service and such a cosy and welcoming environment. An amazing and diverse array of draft and bottled beers/ciders etc rotate and keep this pub a must have frequent stop to check and see what new draft and bottled drinks are on offer. They also offer exceptional whisky and in particular a great value malt of the month which is always worth it. Love the environment and always great for spotting cute dogs.

At the time we visited the kitchen was unfortunately unavailable however this doesn’t take any points away from my experience. The staff is friendly, they allowed us to eat our takeaway food here and the tap has multiple beer choices including the Czech Staropramen which they gonna pour you in Czech style with large head if you ask for it. Great experience, definitely can recommend this place.

The Stockbridge Tap is a pleasant, traditionally decorated pub with old style bar mirrors. Good selection of cask conditioned beers and good range of spirits. Is very much dog friendly - there were at least 4 when I was there with one having its own reservation! 😅 Service is good but something of note is that large groups are not allowed.

One of the very few spots I really 100% enjoyed in Scotland. Only craft references (beer for sure, I don't know about the spirits), 6 casks, 10ish on draught, old beer mirrors and a place crowded with both locals and visitors. Publicans know their beers. Feels like home. Worth the trip.

Had Friday dinner at The Abbotsford Bar & Restaurant and really enjoyed it! The place was busy, so booking online in advance is a good idea. Servers were very friendly, portions were generous, and both the beef ragu tagliatelle and steak pie were full of flavor. The sticky toffee pudding was a perfect finish — delicious!

We were very fortunate to secure a table, it would be best to make a reservation to ensure you have one. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere. While the meal was pleasant, we were disappointed that the cranachan dessert was unavailable, which we understood was due to reduced kitchen staff.

We were looking for a last-minute restaurant when my partner suggested this place. We booked a table for a group of five and arrived to find the pub downstairs and the restaurant on the second floor. The pub was old but charming, transporting us back in time. When we dined, the restaurant was understaffed, with only one chef at the time. Unfortunately, not all the menu items were available, such as the haggies. Instead, we opted for risotto and their steak and ale pie. Both were delicious and flavorful. The depth of each plate was amazing, with the pie being more impactful in terms of flavour, while the risotto was more subtle and calm. Despite the short staff, our server was very patient and attentive. I’ve never drunk a whisky before, but when I asked for a recommendation for someone starting, she suggested Edradour. It was a great start for me and helped me fall in love with scotch. Thank you for that! I highly recommend visiting this pub and their great customer service.

I gave food 4 stars only because they were out of fish and chips, which my wife wanted. So she had the potato and bacon soup and we split a dinner salad, I had a burger. We sat at the bar because the main restaurant seating was upstairs and we needed reservations, which we didn't have. However, that said, the soup was excellent! The burger i had was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! The food was so good we made reservations for the next night, sat upstairs this time, my wife got her fish and chips, I had a steak. Excellent! Service is great, Atmosphere is what you would expect for a typical Irish pub. Fun time. Fun time.

Fabulous pub serving gorgeous, hearty homemade food. Pies to die for! I was nearly defeated by the steak and ale one, but managed it-my daughter wolfed down the special of the day, chicken, bacon and parmesan pie. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Fabulous value for money in a city centre location. Wouldn't hesitate to return next time we're in Edinburgh. Visited this gastropub in Edinburgh and had the Red Squirrel Burger – a steak burger with smoked cheddar, onion rings, and beer mustard mayo. The burger was excellent – the meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Portion size was just right, and everything tasted fresh. The pub itself has a stylish gastropub vibe, perfect for relaxed meetups. It’s open till late with food served until 9:30pm, which is ideal if you’re looking for somewhere to grab a proper bite after typical dinner hours. Would definitely recommend for both the food and the atmosphere.

We were craving burgers and loved the ones at Red Squirrel. They had great chicken and veggie burgers which were HUGE! They catered to our food allergy needs and the ambience was great. Fantastic cocktails, as well.

Our little dog was treated like a star! Water and treats as soon as we came in and she was allowed to make herself at home. Lovely cosy atmosphere and comfy seats by the window. Nice food , generous portions and friendly service. Let down by one.particilar waitress. We would revisit as our family enjoyed. Hopefully service issues are a one off.

Great little spot to grab a local beer or a glass of whisky. Our server Niamh and the bartender Glen were so friendly and happy to tell us about their rotating taps and regional whisky, and made us feel like we were at our hometown watering hole. Would definitely go back!

I've been going to the Red Squirrel for some 8 years. Always great atmosphere and excellent service. The staff are always helpful and accommodating. The food is good though I must say the portions seem to have 'shrunk' over the years.

Red Squirrel is great place for breakfast or night chatting over drinks. Their breakfast was delicious and filling. The mimosas were pleasantly light. Overall, an enjoyable stay. I love the interior design! I highly recommend! :)

First of all, I want to highlight that this is a pet-friendly restaurant, even offering a dog menu (which I really appreciate). The service was excellent. They are committed to providing good service to us and our dogs. This was my first experience of Scottish cuisine, and this restaurant provided the best one.

The venue itself was nice enough and the drinks were good.The food, however, was fairly average and the service was very slow. As someone who works in hospitality, I expect a much higher standard.Staff nice enough but if you are going to add service charge onto a table with food I except to actually receive service.

The vibe is more like an industrial-style bar, which you might enjoy. It’s a very spacious place, not far from other bars. The cocktail was okay, nothing special, but still good. If you sit near the door, it might get a bit cold during winter, so it’s better to choose a table closer to the center. I recommend you to take the haggis with the fries, it was really good!

Loved the food so yummy. Friendly staff. Great music and lighting! The drinks were a highlight. Things to improve on would be: food needs to be hotter when it arrives, ask customers if they have allergies upon arrival, tap water on tables before drinks arrive :) Everything else was class. Lost in Leith is a brilliant place for craft beer lovers with Campervan's own, ever-expanding range mixed with numerous guest taps. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and happy to offer tastings, whilst there is a rotation of events including quizzes and writing groups that frequent weekly. Whilst there isn't a kitchen, you can order from PizzaGeeks which are nearby and menus are available in the bar.

Lost in Leith is a great beer / bar and was a relaxing stop on our trip to the area. There were plenty of options on tap and great seating indoors and outdoors. Would come back!

First time there, they had Belgian beers so I was thrilled! Good atmosphere and options for drinks. I didn't try the food. The staff was friendly. There are tables outside which is great.

A very enjoyable and well-done experience for anyone interested in learning about Scotch whisky. The tour was interactive, informative, and thoughtfully designed—it moved at a great pace and kept things interesting throughout. Our presenter was friendly, funny, and engaging, which really added to the whole experience. The shop at the end is also worth a visit, with a great selection of whiskies to choose from. Definitely a recommended stop if you’re in Edinburgh and want to learn more about Scotch whisky in a fun and memorable way.

A lovely whiskey tasting experience, got to learn more about the rich history of whiskey production in Scotland and try some delicious samples! The guide was energetic, well informed and very friendly. If you love whiskey or want to try it i recommend a visit to this place! 10/10 highly recommend

What a fantastic experience! From the very beginning being greeted in a warm and welcoming way by our brilliant host Archie, we were taken through the history of whisky making in an informative and entertaining way by Archie. Then we were given the opportunity to taste 5 very different whisky styles from across the 5 regions. After that, we saw the Worlds largest unopened whisky bottle collection which was simply stunning! And to finish, we enjoyed a Scottish food tasting experience in the delightful Amber restaurant. The evening was a truly 5* experience! 👍👍

Awesome tour. I like the immersive element and the storytelling of both our guide and then voice over. Also the fact you move to different rooms was appreciated - rather than just standing in one place for an hour. Darcy was brilliant. Great knowledge, led the tour well and created a great space to share. We also did the 3 course dinner after which was also amazing. Highly recommend doing that too.

A highly refined and entertaining show. Much more high tech than I expected. I went in knowing basically nothing about it and left feeling like I have some knowledge about whiskey making and different parts of Scotland that give you different flavors. That was actually pretty true. Also the alcohol offerings at the end are pretty reasonable and they have a really nice selection. The collection was also super impressive.

Well worth an obligatory visit whilst in Edinburgh, as a novice to whiskey I opted for the Silver tour just to tour and try the 1. Also visited the very nice Amber Bar downstairs that's worth a visit after if not too busy. The barman is excellent and will find you one to your taste.

This was a great experience. We did the gold tour. Our guide Jackson was very informative and funny. Would highly recommend this tour to visitors to get a better understanding of waht whiskey to buy as gifts or for personal taste

One of Edinburgh’s great institutions so a must for locals and visitors alike. It’s an amazing space inside with such great architecture and one pub that should never change. Friday night was busy but still the odd seat was free. Drinks are good but at £11.10 for a glass of house wine a bit pricey. Staff could do with smiling and might sell more drinks if there was some interaction with customers.

One of the best Sunday roasts in Edinburgh – and now our new favourite. We ended up here by chance after another restaurant had sold out, and I’m so glad we did. I’m a big roast fan, and this was easily the best I’ve had in a long time. Everything was spot on: the homemade cauliflower cheese, rich gravy, and pigs in blankets were a treat, while the beef, Yorkshire puddings, and perfectly tender veg were exceptional. We practically licked the plates clean. To top it off, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming – the whole experience was a joy from start to finish.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was ruined by the service, particularly by a waiter named Daniel. He was incredibly rude—the most unfriendly waiter I’ve ever dealt with. He dropped a dirty spoon on my grandfather and didn’t say a word. No apology, no attempt to pick it up—just completely ignored it. He also brought the wrong dish and again, no apology. When we asked for help with the menu, he was arrogant and unhelpful, acting as if our questions were a nuisance. To be fair, the food was good, and the special we tried was actually very enjoyable. It’s a shame the service didn’t reflect the same quality. A great meal shouldn’t be overshadowed by bad hospitality.

This one was hard to rate. We came all the way from the states and were only spending two days in the Edinburg area so we carefully preselected our dinner reservations months ago. The venue was beautiful and is steeped in historical design and ambience, however it was loud and no one could give us a good answer about who we should check in with when we arrived at our 8pm time. The servers were rushed and left us without attending to our drinks for a very long time. The drinks were excellent but way too expensive. We order the Scotch eggs and the scallops for entries. For $20 USD we got TWO scallops in a soupy but interesting mix of sauces and beets. My wife said her Balmoral chicken was peppery and too salty. My pork cutlets were fantastic. Really it comes down to feeling like we were in the way and the servers were too stressed to do a solid job making sure we were taken care of. I think we'd go back if we're ever in Edinburgh again but with so many other choices maybe not.

Really enjoyed our meal here. The vibe in the bar seemed a bit more fun than the restaurant side. We had the Sunday roasts and they were delicious and huge portions.

I came here as an accident walking back to our Airbnb from the new register house and I am so glad we stopped in because it is such a beautiful pub-in restaurant. As I understand, a very famous movie was filmed here years ago. Every single one of my favorite whiskeys was on the shelf here and the bartender from Arran was incredibly nice and helpful. I recommend the Scotch egg and the Cullen skink.

I had a steak sandwich which was amazing. The potatoes are super good. My wife had the cooked oysters and they put bacon on them which I was in a huge fan of but overall super nice experience also the beer was amazing. It's a bar so the service was not amazing but really great vibe there and more of a local place than a tourist place it seemed.

Our first meal in Edinburgh and it’s so incredibly delicious. Possibly the best beef stew I’ve ever had. The seafood was really well handled as well. First time trying a Cullen skink, so good! There’s also a great variety of drinks to choose from. Additionally, the location was really lovely, the staffs were friendly and the food was served pretty fast.

As an independent estate and letting agent, I love to support the businesses in the local area I work. Teuchters Landing is an excellent example of a local business that attracts locals, those working nearby and tourists too ... and for good reason. The food and drinks are excellent, the service is great and the general atmosphere is welcoming to all. Highly recommended and one venue I regularly recommend to people moving into the area.

Absolutely fantastic local venue. The food, drinks and atmosphere are fantastic every time, the staff are super accommodating for a walk in venue and have always managed to find us a table. They are also super dog friendly which is a huge bonus. The outdoor seating under the fair lights is wonderful and they have heaters and blankets for the winter. The spicy margs are also amazing!

Leith area does not offer much to see but some good venues to visit. We were lucky to find this restaurant&bar just before their kitchen closed. The waitress pushed us to be hurry but we choose two of the best foods from their menu which were calamari and fish&chips. They don't offer various beer options so we choosed 2 different IPAs which were good enough. Atmosphere is really nice to spend time with your friends. Prices are similar to most of the Edinburgh bars.

The food was excellent! We had the mussels and the fish & chips, and both were absolutely gorgeous. The only small thing we would have loved even more is if the tartare sauce with the fish & chips had been homemade — that would have taken it to the next level. But overall, everything was excellent, and the service was just as good. Highly recommended!

I wasn’t aware of this cool bar until I had to Google it to buy a bottle of Lonewolf gin for my work colleague. Stepped in and memersize by the wide selection of beers from the tap shown in the menu board. Bought the bottle and settled in for an Elvis Juice IPA, without knowing what it was. The first sip was wow… tasted like grapefruit, one of my favourite fruits. Taste is very defined and refreshing. Forgotten to take photo. Friendly staff! Brewdog is quite close to Royal Mile. I arrived during dinner time so it was pretty quiet.

Nice range of beer but serving a disgusting old fashioned from the can for 10 GBP is a disgrace. No doubt Brew Dog is a big brand and I was expecting much better experience here

Outrageously bad. Ordered Chips ‘n’ Dip and we were presented with a tiny portion of nachos covered inexpertly with an overpoweringly salty powder. The nasty nachos were accompanied by a miserly amount of synthetic guac and salsa. Avoid.

Just a really nice, good pub atmosphere. It was great to socialize and try lots of different beers. Food was not bad, but wasn’t anything I would call spectacular either. I would say if you have a late evening and you’re looking for a place just to go after that and socialize give BrewDog a try.

We saw the social media offer for buy one pizza get another for £1 in January. Booking online was an easy enough process. Arrived and the booth was ready for us. The venue was good in terms of atmosphere. It was an early Friday afternoon quite chilled out. We ordered our food. Slight hiccup with the order as no garlic mayo dip and had to settle for a different one. My friend has never been to Brewdog for pizza. She thoroughly enjoyed their pizza saying it was really tasty. She had the BBQ chicken..I really enjoyed my vegan spicy meaty. It's probably my favourite vegan pizza for eating out.

We’ve been told this is the best place for burgers in Edinburgh so we came to check it out. It did not disappoint! Would highly recommend. The surprise was they do real milkshakes and can adding like espresso or peanut butter! Chocolate w/peanut butter is my fav and the shake was amazing.

Had some properly delicious grown-up burgers here today! We have visited a few times and it never disappoints. These burgers require a big appetite. We chose the Fajhita burger and the Oktoberfest burger which was a seasonal special. Delicious, juicy, tangy, bursting with flavour. Already thinking about our next visit

Some truly amazing burger options. The quality is really tops too. If any place knows how to make a burger, then this is one of them. They got great dessert options available too. Staff are also very friendly and attentive. Definitely not your average bar.

The Cambridge Bar was recommended to me as "best burgers in town". I had a Three Alarm burger, which was very tasty with a good level of spicyness. The staff's very friendly and always around if you need something. Being a bar, it can be a bit noisy, but that was fine for me. Would go again.

Great location to get away from the hustle and bustle the main shopping streets. Their burgers certainly lived upto their reputation. I had the bacon guac that had a good quality beef patty nearly topped with guacamole and smoky bacon. The bun was good and held upto the task. Fries were tasty. On the pricier side for a burger considering fried aren't included but worth the price. Good range of rotating local beers and a decent wine list. Front of house staff were very friendly and efficient.

This boutique pub, is probably a place I would have enjoyed even more in my younger days. A sort of punk decorative style and lots of stuffed toys. Great atmosphere, great service and good selection of craft beers. What made my experience so special was the Happy Fish restaurant within the pub. A fully vegan " fish and chippy".... food was brilliant!! We had the "Faddock" and the "Faggis", served with generous helpings of great fries.

Great pub. The atmosphere is top! Love from first sight. Great decorations, cool music, nice waiters, great drinks. I didn't try the food, so can't say about it. They also do have really good music jam sessions every thuesday, so if you are in Edinburgh and would like to hangout somewhere, that's the place to be.

This place is absolutely perfect. The decor is mad (in a good way) and the staff are all super friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food (which is 100% vegan) is AMAZING! Even as a non-vegan, the pizza crunch tastes just like the real thing, the chips are amazing, onion rings way better than most other places, and although I've not tried it myself, the battered "fish" looks incredible. Definitely well worth a visit!

The drinks are delicious. The staff was friendly but didn't seem particularly motivated. The ambiance is great wild and fits the bar's name.

We went here because we had heard that it was the real world version of the three broomsticks with butter beer and a warm atmosphere. it’s it’s credit the atmosphere is warm and they do have butter beer but this is nothing like what I was expecting. It is a fun place full of young people covered in an eclectic collection of stuff. There was a room with gloves and hats just staples to the ceiling, one space full of lamp shades. We were there for drag bing would highly recommend

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the City! We stumbled upon this quaint little bar after taking an impromptu turn down an alleyway, just looking for something to do — and what a find! The atmosphere was incredible: classic, cozy, authentic old Scottish pub vibes. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his craft. We sat at the bar listening to him chat with other customers, and it was genuinely impressive. He helped us pick the perfect cider, and we even ended up trying some of the beers he recommended to others because they sounded so good! An unexpected highlight of our trip — highly recommend stopping in if you’re nearby.

A lovely cosy pub off the main road, hidden down a little alley way. We loved it here, the staff were very knowledgeable about the beers, and more than happy to help my partner out with his drink choice. The atmosphere was great, as the bar staff were chatty towards everyone and extremely polite. It’s an old school type of pub, with a cosy fire too. We loved it here!

Bennets Bar is a storied old Victorian pub with loads of character. Excellent selection of local cask ales and Scotch whiskies, all served in a warm and lively atmosphere. The crowd is diverse, making it a great spot to soak up local energy. Bartenders are attentive and friendly, and it’s just a short walk from the Haymarket transit hub—perfect for a pint before or after exploring the city.

Must visit place - one of the oldest bars in Edinburgh. Comfortable and cozy not in the front and back parts. It’s super interesting to be reviewed interior while having a pint of beer - many tables still have original picture (maps) and the entire bar cabinet is original one, from the 18th (?) century.

This is a fun old pub. Interior is classic and rustic with tons of history which you can see on the walls, on the floors, on the bar. Solid cask ale selection and some tasty haggis bonbons. There's a second room in the back but it was pretty quiet in the main room when I visited. Some folks started trickling in after I arrived and quite a diverse range of ages. A classic pub a bit hidden by the construction but these are the places that you remember and hope to never disappear.

A proper old-style boozer. Central bar in a large room with leather seating along the wallls and lots of beer-related paraphernalia on display. Great selection of cask ales, really enjoyed the Forsyth Juice.

Visited the Cask and barrel on a recommendation and I wasn’t disappointed. Great choice of real ales and my favorite was on, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord. Quite busy for a tea time which shows how good the beer is. I will be back when visiting Edinburgh

Nice taproom, lots to choose from, huge 6° North range as well as other Scottish brewers and the rest of the UK. Lots of seating, good toilet facilities. Depending on when you go it can be a really quiet one, or very busy. Only downside is choosing a beer at the bar when busy is tough if you like to take your time.

Brilliant place for great selection of keg beers. Huge variety of drinks. BUT THE MAIN PROB IS, they haven’t beer list on any table. Even they didn’t share list on UNTAPPD. When asked for that got replied check Instagram. Not everyone is on Insta or Insta is for sharing pics not lists. There’s a dog running without lead all over the bar n disturbing us on our table again n again by smelling our glasses, playing with our shoulder bags etc. One of our friend have allergic from pets. When request for lead the dog, bar guy speak something in his mouth n ignored me. My friend was sneezing badly, so there wasn’t choice for us rather then leave the place. There’s great choice of drinks but not atmosphere. Staff is nice but after serving 3rd or 4th time, they try to ignore u or never give u importance. We enjoyed our time there but not the way we wanted. Hope never back again if they don’t know how to treat a customer. Really disappointed. There was similar reviews before me but I ignored them. Now I realised why they pass their such reviews. 😓

That's my kind of place ! Very well served tap house with 40 taps, having a special focus on Belgian style. Good snacks (cheese, chorizo, olives) and awesome environment. It is a big space so probably it is never too crowded.

Excellent selection of beer and knowledgeable staff. With 40 taps and even more bottles you can definitely find the beer for you. Haven't tried the food here yet, but will surely be returning.

If you like craft beer you have to try this place! An amazing selection of Belgian inspired beers in a cosy but vibrant setting. The staff really know their stuff too! Based on my beer preferences, they recommended some delicious beers and I would hurry back to try more that they offer!

A great addition to the Edinburgh beer scene! Six Degrees was the only part of Aberdeen I missed after moving to Edinburgh, so I am very glad they opened here as well. A cosy interior with friendly and knowledgeable staff, plus a ton of amazing beer! The cheese board and mixed platter were also extremely tasty.

Vault City: My favourite brewery ever, love those sour beers so this was the place to go when travelling through Scotland. Tiny bar, but a lot of those awesome beers. Make sure to make a reservation if you want to have a seat!

As a vault city fan, we loved visiting the taproom. It's tiny, will seat only a few people but we were lucky to get a seat mid week eve. Loads of choice, the flights are a perfect idea so you can make the most of the tap selection. If you're in Edinburgh, definitely make the effort and go!

We love Vault City beers so this was a must for us on our trip to Edinburgh! It’s a tiny little place (hence the name) so book if you want to guarantee a seat. There are more taps than seats and loads of cans to choose from on the shelves and in the fridge. Loved it!!

Me and my wife came here based on a friends recommendation - We both don't drink beer, sours or stouts but my oh my we are glad we popped in! I can't remember the chaps name that guided us through what was on offer but we were here on August 21st 2025. We sampled some product and bought a flight! - Thank you! A must for beer, IPA, Sour and stout lovers!

As the name suggests, Wee Vault is tiny, probably room for about 14 to 16 people including the bartender, so reservations are definitely a must. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in quality. There are 24 taps with phenomenal beers from Vault City and other breweries, and every one we tried was excellent. The service was impeccable. Ian, the friendly bartender, was happy to offer recommendations, samples, and plenty of insight into the beers. We went twice during our trip, and both visits were fantastic. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Edinburgh.

We found this bar just by looking around Google maps to see what was near our airbnb. Delighted at the vegetarian options, really diverse beer selections, and awesome vibes. So happy we skipped out on a tourist dinner in old town tonight!

A place for moments! Wonderful, chatty staff and beautiful food cooked by the staff who have been trained in running a small kitchen. Excellent beers and a really good crowd. Super dog friendly as well. I'll definitely be back

Very nice bar with great beers 4 hand pulled. Staff are spot on and a great play list in the background. The only problem was the 3 women in different parts of the pub trying to be the loudest most annoying people this side of the Atlantic.

Another excellent pub from Cross Borders Brewing. There were 20 beer taps on the go when we were in on a Thursday afternoon. Well worth a visit.

Loved this bar so much, what I loved most is that the bar is so beautiful and even going on a Saturday night, there was no horrific crowds, the music was played at a level where you could enjoy your conversations and everyone seemed so pleasant and nice. I honestly didn't expect that from a pub on Easter road, definitely my new local now. There is such a great selection of drinks and board games to boot. I honestly have to say this bar is a complete gem of a discovery!

A nice underground bar to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The beer and food were both good. Their apparently new staff members (assuming it was recently passed onto or purchased from someone), were friendly and accommodating.

Great selection of craft beers and other drinks. Very accommodating to large groups, and usually friendly service. However, not a place for a cheap pint! Definitely not a regular place for most students on a bog-standard pub crawl, but great to hold events.

Staff here are super helpful and will find the right pint for you! Will let you have a little try of anything before you buy, they picked me out a nice golden ale. The prices are a little on the high side but worth it for the craft beers. The underground feel is really cool and there are loads of seats, although it does get quite busy sometimes.

Great little basement bar. They have a range of beers by independent breweries and also have their own line of craft beers which I really enjoy. This is often a spot that still has a few tables to grab when other better known bars are full. Worth a visit, especially with bigger groups. Only downside is there are no windows.

If you like a pint then this is the place for you! They have a ginormous selection of brews, beers, ales etc for the connoisseur! I can guarantee that you will have to come back numerous times to try them all! I will also recommend the cocktails that they do too! Really very nice mixing! It’s great for meeting with groups of people (whether it be friends or university societies) and having a quiet drink and a bite to eat. Down a set of stairs in the basement and into a cosy little pub, it’s really welcoming and just nice to just chill there!

Incredible beer and whisky selection, ideal for fans of craft beer. Very friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. The frequent live music events are a great addition to the experience and highly recommended. Location is close to the old town centre and ideal for students.

Awesome place to grab a beer. Has the feel of a biergarten but inside. Very cool feel to the place and great beers on tap. Good cocktails as well. Has some snacks, but only had some crisps (chips) while we were there. Liked it so much, went back twice in 4 days.

Excellent taproom in the New Town / Broughton area of Edinburgh, great beers brewed onsite in a German style, and lovely cocktails. The IPA and Kellerbier were great. Decor is special with hard wood floors, comfy chairs and beautiful plants on show and for sale. Superb.

Really nice vibes inside with lots of different seating options including some swinging chairs in the nooks by the front. The main area is a big hall so can get loud. They had a live DJ on the night.

I have lived in Edinburgh 6 years and had never heard of this pub. It is a lovely pub tucked away from the busy streets of Edinburgh. Service was great and drinks were good value. 100% recommend and we will be back!

We visited for the opening day and the design inside was impressive, especially the hanging chairs by the window. There was a great selection of beers and great service from the staff. A must visit!

Had a fantastic tour & gin tasting at Summerhall Distillery. The tour was fun & interesting. Our guide was warm & friendly as well as knowledgeable. And the gin was excellent! It was also nice to get out of the core tourist area & check out another part of Edinburgh. Highly recommend this experience.

This gin is very tasty and the Navy strength is amazing I love the increased flavor profile. We went on a tour of the distillery. They give a few samples which makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The tour guide Marina was amazing. She did a great job of blending history of Gin and the distillery. I would recommend her tour. Summer hall has an amazing vibe it’s worth checking out.

As a gift to my gin loving wife (Fiona) we both looked forward to the tour. I never realised it was such a small operation. Our tour guide, Alyssa, was so informative about the origins of Pickering's gin to the present day. As it was only my wife and myself the tour felt rather personal experience. The chat between us was great, so relaxed. I'm not a gin drinker, more a whisky man, however, I feel I'm liking gin more. We hope to be back to your future gin events. Thank you so much for Alyssa being such a knowledgeable tour guide.

I had a fantastic tour of the distillery! Our guide Marina was absolutely wonderful – highly knowledgeable, warm, and with a great sense of humor. She explained the gin-making process in an engaging and easy-to-understand way, making the entire experience both exciting and entertaining. You can tell she’s truly passionate about what she does. The distillery itself may be small, but that’s exactly what gives it its special, family-like charm. A visit I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Marina was the best guide I have ever had! She is so passionate about her job and tells the story of the distillery like a fairytale. Lesson learnt : If you believe in your product, dreams really do come true! Highly recommended!

Edinburgh must see experience! We experienced history insight into Pickering´s gin making process. Our guide Alyssa was very pleasant and kindly answered all of our questions. Very cute, laid back place with incredible food! The little soup was delicious as were the smoked fishcakes. I love the unique decor and the staff were really lovely. Would definitely come back!

I was at the Roseleaf on 02/11/25 with my wife and a couple of friends. We were there for some food and drinks and booked a table for 1300hrs. I am a local and have been here many times and as usual, everything was fantastic. Despite it being a busy Sunday lunchtime, the service was quick and courteous, the food excellent and the Guinness top notch. I had the McLeith burger, but with no bun or chips, 4 poached eggs and extra bacon (see photo). My friend had double bacon and 4 poached eggs, my wife the veggie burger and my friend’s wife the Sunday roast. All our meals were excellent, and my friend and I are especially appreciative of the flexibility of the chefs in providing us with meals which were low carb adapted. My friend’s wife also made particular comments about how tasty and well cooked her pork belly was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It’s a local institution which contributes hugely to the food and beverage scene at The Shore, Leith.

The chicken wings are worth the hype, crunchy and too good. The chicken pie and the pasta were delicious. This restaurant feels cozy, has wonderful ambience and warm interior architecture!!

I really loved this space. The ambiance was very romantic (even though I was there by myself, lol) I was able to sneak in last minute (around 8pm) for dinner and a drink. And it was still quite busy, so clearly a popular spot. The drinks were super unique, mine was a play on the classic margarita and it was DELICIOUS. My burger was perfectly cooked, the fries were tasty, and OH MY GOODNESS this cake. Seriously. The cake. What a way to end my trip.

I’ve been a big fan of Roseleaf ever since I moved to Leith in 2024 but tonight I’m compelled to write this review because the pumpkin spice cheesecake is the best thing I’ve put in my mouth. You cannot go wrong with the food, the drinks and the tea pot cocktails! The staff are always friendly and make you feel at home. Honestly best spot in Edinburgh!

I really cannot express how impressed I was with this meal. We were a party of 4, who all chose different starters, mains and deserts from the menu. The quality and presentation of all dishes was exceptional. It was a very busy Friday evening and the staff were extremely efficient, but were also very polite and friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to this venue (Tony Singh and Phil Rosenthal were also suitably impressed - as seen on the Nerflix Series "Somebody Feed Phil").

Cosy little pub offering great food. We tried the scotch eggs, Cullen skink and chicken pie. Everything was delicious. The Cullen skink was the best we tried from many different restaurants.
