very good place to eat. We had a Alinazik Kebab, it was absolutely delicious. staff was very lovely as well and gave us recommandation for dessert, we had Kunefe, which was nice and very different.

A good local spot. We were recommended this place often during out stay in Istanbul. The pide and pistachio kebab were a highlight for sure. And almost worth a visit for those alone. The baklava was also excellent. Order the Hamdi special baklava if you go - it contains more pistachio flavour.
Unfortunately the sides and what came with he Kebab could be better. The bulgar wheat was fine if a little dry. We had much nicer bulgar at a different restaurant.
The service wasn't the most friendly but nothing untoeards - perhaps what you can expect from the Turkish tempremant. However, they were too efficient. My girlfriends plate was taken from under her before she even put her knife and fork down. It was so fast it took us both by surprise and although we were used to the efficiency of the waiting staff here this was a bit obtrusive.
Atmosphere was okay. A little quiet as we were sat on the first floor. This could be nice for some but we would rather have been in the main room a floor up with everyone else.
Visited October 2019 – Hamdi Restaurant occupies a prime spot on Eminönü square, its neon crown visible day and night. Once a humble Urfa kebap stand, this is now Hamdi Arpacı’s flagship, with formal dining upstairs and a ground floor lined with trays of baklava, kadayıf, and katmer ready to pack or plate. Turkish dining often separates savoury and sweet, and Hamdi still bridges both worlds. I came for katmer: pistachio and clotted cream folded into thin pastry, baked crisp and fragrant. Once rare in Istanbul, it’s now essential - a dessert worth crossing the city for. 9/10
The food was tasty enough, but the price was way too expensive for what offered. Great view and very central place next to Egyptian Bazaar, but I was expecting much better service and quality.

i just came today....and we just asking about the breakfast or any menu..but your staff keep asking us to go to another restaurant, and he said there is no breakfast, same like he need to kick us out from the restaurant...3 times he ask us to go out to go to another restaurant..and pretending he is busy...did he think we are poor people...?? did he racist because im Asian.. ?? and that time i saw a lots of European ppl there...really he is rude...for asian ppl, for arabic ppl...im not suggesting this restaurant for you all...we are not welcoming here..ya Rabb, i hope that man will be fired soon...Aamiinnn..
We dropped by Hamdi after shopping at the Egyptian bazaar. The restaurant overlooks Bosphorous river. We went for dinner on a weekday without reservations. The patio was full, but the tables upstairs were available. The service was good and Turkish specials were good especially the desserts and pistachio kabobs. Service charge of 10% is added to the bill. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
The food is incredibly overpriced, service is terrible and the portions are avarage. We were just offered to sit at the entrance (the upper floors were completely full?! No baby chair. For 3 ppl we got only 2 small pieces of bread, barely visible in the basket. When we asked for more we had to wait for ages.
We went the three of us for dining (incl one toddler) ordered meze, salad, soup and a maindish. I got the wrong dish, which i didnt accept. By the time my food arrived everyone else already finished eating, and i got again not the main dish I ordered! Plus the waitress kept insisting that it was definitely what I wanted, what a joke!!! For me that was it! And despite I had barely eaten (no maindish) and our toddler just ate half portion we paid 4400 lira (€92). This place is a scam.Never again!!
⚠️ Beware — scam tactics here! The food is average at best and massively overpriced for what you get. They charged us over 5,100 TL and we shared 2 main plates and 2 appetizers for 4 people for dinner. The staff tried to mislead us by suggesting service wasn’t included, clearly pressuring for an extra tip. Even worse, our final bill was higher than the menu prices. The charged if 4 times for tine portions that looks nothing like what’s shown on the menu. — a clear scam. This place is dishonest and not worth your money. I will not recommend and strongly advise others to avoid it.

Zübeyir Ocakbaşı/Taksim is a popular restaurant near Taksim square, known for its cozy and packed atmosphere. The grill opposite Zubeyir Usta offers comfortable seating and a vibrant menu. The kebabs are very juicy and flavoursome.
The lamb doesn't have gamey flavours and hence very suitable for those who don't usually tolerate lamb.

If you’re looking for the best Turkish food in Taksim Square, Zübeyir Ocakbaşı is the place to be. The meat was unbelievably succulent and fresh, cooked to absolute perfection with that authentic ocakbaşı flavor you can’t get anywhere else. Every bite was rich, tender, and packed with taste.
The hospitality was just as impressive. The waiters were incredibly helpful, attentive, and made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. It’s rare to find service this consistently good.
This has become my go-to restaurant in Taksim, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving top-quality Turkish cuisine. A must-visit!

It was my first time trying an original-style kebab like this, and I really enjoyed it. The flavor was authentic and unique, unlike any kebab I’ve had before. They also did a great job handling the strong gamey taste of the lamb/goat meat. It was well-balanced and delicious.
Amazing food and a great setting, we were sat right by the BBQ. Would definitely return 😍 only negative is the waited said we hadn't ordered enough so added another dish that we couldn't finish! Would definitely return.
Avarege experience at this restaurant. The food was good but took ages to arrive. We got a lot of smoke from the people eating outside which was unpleasant. Visited 2017, 2019 — The draw on this Taksim side street, Zubeyir's copper-hooded hearths glow at its centre. The usta works half-hidden, skewers basted with kuyruk yağı as the flames rise; crouch down and he’ll return a smile and thumbs-up, accolades hanging behind him. Meals start with tabbouleh, çoban salatası and bread, brusting with fresh. The standouts remain the lamb adana and Ciğer çöp şiş: moist yet cooked through, full of flavour, rolled in lavaş with onion, parsley and sumac — outstanding, and worthy of its reputation. On a later visit, tavuk şiş was well handled, if more restrained. Aubergine, salad and rakı alongside. 9/10.
Omg! It was amazing! Some of the best food I ever had. I had half portion lamb chops, half portion of lamb shashlik and one full kebab and tzatziki. Everything was perfect! The best parts were pieces of fat in lamb shashlik, the spiciness and juiciness of the kebab and the meat on the chops was also flavorful, soft and it was cooked perfectly. The grill master is a true artist and hustler. He was managing countless skewers like the women who make laces. He was sitting behind a wall of smoke giving his full attention to the food and fire in front of him. I cook on coals sometimes and manage up to 5 pieces and I feel overwhelmed. He had 20-30 skewers with different meats, veggies and lavash, and an upside down pot with coal. What a hard job and how well does he do it. The meal was perfect! For dessert I had baklava packed with pistachios
and strong fragrant tea. I loved everything!

Located in a bustling passageway, Şehzade Cağ Kebap is known for its unique method of preparing horizontally cooked kebabs. The chef's Ottoman style and careful approach to cooking over a wood-fired oven add to the experience. The meat, tender and dripping with fat, is served on skewers cut from the horizontal doner, distinguishing it from other kebab places that use vertical cooking methods.
We found this place by accident. My spouse liked how the meat looked on the spit so we sat down, and then the crowds came. Poor guy across the street selling the same thing had zero business, has been in business longer according to their signs, and had his employees sit at the tables to try and draw in business. It didn't work the entire time we were eating.
ATMOSPHERE:
The tiny restaurant has covered sidewalk seating only and is great for people watching. They're located near the spice market. We did have a peddler with her child come up to the tables asking for money while she played the accordion.

It was orange in color and tasted very good. A medium savory with a nice amount of lentils and more soup, not too thick either.
Lamb Cag Kebab
The cag style of kebab is an old school way of cooking the meat horizontally on the spit rather than vertically. Well it was THE BEST we've had in Istanbul! Super tender and tons of natural flavor. It came with sides of yogurt, spicy couscous and lava, which we made into a burrito and devoured it.

Delicious food and truly authentic vibes. I’ve been here several times and tried other in Hoca Pasa. This one stands out by far. Best flavor, minimal wait, and great service. Truly a local gem! The çağ kebab here is amazing — tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. The food is not only delicious but also very affordable. Tucked into a narrow alley just south-west of Sirkeci station, this modest eatery holds a reputation that far outstrips its size. The set-up is simple: a few tables outside, an upstairs and downstairs inside, and one thing only on the menu – cağ kebap.
Unlike its more common döner cousin, this Erzurum speciality is roasted horizontally on a spit. From my seat, I could watch the usta carve generous slices, their aroma filling the small dining room and drifting out onto Hocapaşa Sokak.
The ritual is as much part of the meal as the food itself. Flatbread, chili paste, crisp salad, and thick buffalo yoghurt arrive alongside the kebap. I did the dürüm thing – layering, rolling, biting in – and suddenly everything made sense. The cool salad checked the heat of the paste, the yoghurt softened the spice, and the kebap itself, tender and perfectly seasoned, sang through it all.
I raised my hand for another portion without hesitation. It was a complete harmony of flavour, the kind of meal that makes you stop and simply smile.
A perfect 10/10.
It’s not for everyone. I noticed a few tourists waited in line to be seated but left after looking at the menu — probably because they didn’t find the usual French fries, mayo, or burgers. If that’s what you’re looking for, this restaurant isn’t for you.
They only have about 8 or 9 dishes on the menu, and it’s a bit on the expensive side. You’ll also be sharing a table with strangers, which might not appeal to everyone. The food itself was good — the meat was a bit fatty, but still delicious overall.

Beyti is a renowned restaurant in Istanbul known for its traditional meat-focused menu and vast, old-world ambiance with a terrace. The restaurant holds a rich history, having been opened by Mr. Beyti himself in the 1980s. It boasts a mix of contemporary design and Ottoman art, offering some of the best kebabs in Istanbul, including the famous Beyti kebab. Notable personalities like Nixon and Arthur Miller have dined here.
Starving, and on the hunt for something that truly captivates Istanbul’s spirit, I stumbled across Beyti, a legendary establishment, mythical in status, dating back to 1945, and more notably featuring on Mark Wein’s best restaurant in Istanbul.
18km from The Ritz Carlton, the trip took around 1hr through Istanbul’s metropolis rush hour. A giant bull decorates the garden, signalling your stop.
A series of greeters met me at the front door, waiters moving at light speed, and effortlessly gliding to their destination, with copper coloured cloches preserving hidden secrets beneath them, ready to delight whoever was lucky enough to receive it.
After sitting down, I was frequented by multiple servers, each very well dressed, clearly and deservingly, very proud of their work.
I decided on the speciality starter, the “Imam Fainted”. This alone was an entire backstory of its own, the unique flavours bursting through impossibly, and was served in what seemed like seconds after ordering.
Next up, was the mixed platter. I’d originally eagle eyed the doner kebab, but I was kindly advised this was included in the mixed platter, which I had also ordered.
The doner kebab was served first of the mix - I was a little nervous I’d ordered the wrong thing, because there was no other signs of the other cuts of meat. However, after finishing the most perfectly sliced pieces of succulent doner, another waiter arrived and placed two sizzling pieces of grilled meatballs on my plate, along with mashed potato. Although arguably not ball shaped, these could be any shape they wanted, as they were absolutely spectacular.
Following that, I was presented with the sheesh Kebab or kidney grill (I couldn’t tell), but the cuts were perfectly singed on the outside, whilst perfectly cooked on the inside.
Finally, the lamb chop. I have no idea how this retained so much flavour. It was, quite simply, astonishing, and easily the star of the show.
Baklava, Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee all followed, I somehow made even more space to fit in the Turkish hospitality. Once again, I was stopped short of tarnishing my meal with adding sugar to my tea, and I was given assurance that the Baklava was sugary enough, without adding sugar to the tea. The coffee was ultra strong and I felt like I’d just shotted 4 monsters, which was exactly what I needed from stopping me from slipping into a food comatose.
Truly satisfied and stuffed to the point of exploding, I was kindly offered a tour of the building by Yusuf. Softly spoken, and having dedicated 23 years of servitude to Beyti, there was magic to his storytelling that itself could have been a tour of Istanbul.
As we walked around, I realised Beyti is a time capsule, showcasing items collected from the Ottoman Empire, to various visits from Emperors of Japan, to Presidents of American. As we toured from room to room, what astonished me was the diversity in decor, almost as if each segment had been added on in each decade, each with its own story and charm.
As my journey came to an end, Yusuf bid me farewell on my journey after calling a cab. I left feeling like I’d just visited one of the great wonders of the world. I can’t wait to return and continue the culinary journey at Beyti.

This restaurant is truly one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had in Türkiye. My parents and I were completely impressed from start to finish. The service is warm and attentive, and the dishes are of outstanding quality – you can feel the passion and craftsmanship in every detail. The only minor point of criticism would be the bread at the beginning, which could have been better. Other than that, everything was absolutely excellent.
It feels as if you are being welcomed into someone’s home and treated like family. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Its like steak back in the day where they don’t really marinate it. I would give it 7/10.

Beyti is the best restaurant in my world … and my world had visited a lot till now.
The Turkish cuisine at its peek … the food is amazingly cooked and the ingredients are very carefully chosen … I even heard that they grow their own meat … that is why it is so so tasty

The ambiance is elegant and full of history the walls are lined with photos of many famous guests, including well known public figures and politicians who have visited over the years. It gives the place a special charm and reflects its long-standing reputation in Istanbul.
Overall, it’s a great place for both business and personal dining. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine in a historic and classy setting.

Uludağ Et Lokantası is a renowned establishment that has been serving its customers since 1985. Situated in Ataturk Kosku, it offers a picturesque view where the colors blue and green blend harmoniously. This unique restaurant stands out on the European side of Istanbul, providing a one-of-a-kind experience by the beach. The seating arrangements are extremely comfortable within its spacious interior, allowing guests to enjoy the panoramic scenery.
We had a wonderful experience at Uludağ Restaurant. Everything we ate was incredibly delicious, and the service was excellent.
The manager, Mr. Necmettin, was exceptionally attentive and made us feel truly welcome. The warm, family-friendly atmosphere makes us want to return whenever we get the chance.
Highly recommended for a cozy and satisfying meal.

The mixed iskender kebab is super good! Chicken iskender is also surprisingly very delicious. Salad is great! Everything tastes so good. Glad to have come to this place one day before leaving Istanbul!

We had a great experience with dinner here one evening after exploring Istiklal Avenue. The place is small and you can get some authentic Turkish food here. The staff are very helpful and the taste of the food is superb. Their lentil soup is so good, and their iskender tastes amazing.
We were recommended to come here by our hairdresser a few minutes ago, and we were absolutely blown away by the flavors and quick service. The meat was cooked perfectly and the salad was so fresh, definitely will be coming back 👏🏽
Oh wait just came back to the review because we ordered more!! These deserts are so good and went well together. The round ones are served chilled and are crunchy on the outside and the inside is almost like a mix of sugar and Orange zest, and the one in the pan is hot and is a mixture of cheese and sugar with a crunchy crust.

MUST VISIT! Proper local spot where everyone comes for the mixed Iskender (380tl), and wow, it did not disappoint. The meat was tender, the sauce rich and buttery, and the tomatoes took it to the next level — fresh, tangy, and absolutely delicious.

Kasap Osman is a well-known Istanbul restaurant that specializes in shaved off doner meat, which is then used in sandwiches or turned into Iskender kebab. The meat is cooked slowly over wood fires and served with peppers and tomatoes on flatbread.
Kasap Osman was our favorite restaurant of our stay in Istanbul and we ate here 4x. Adana kebab was absolutely exceptional, very juicy and flavorful. The hygiene standards were very high and we never got sick. The meat portion is very tasty too. Add red chili pepper for additional flavor.

Absolutely food. Real fresh authentic flavours and super fresh…. We had the shawarma wraps, chicken wings and Adana fresh chips. It Was a great find just 5 mins from our hotel. Worth a visit after a long day of shopping.
Great food, lively ambience with a lot of locals and attentive service! We tried the special "Iskender" which is thinly sliced meat in a tomato sauce with yoghurt and butter on the side and it was delicious. We had the eggplant starter and it was very good! The best part of the meal was the rice pudding in the end :)
Overall very happy with the food, service, and the price was not dire like some spots we visited.
To start off, unlike most places, the staff were not trying to drag you in off the street. They actually had civil manners. I had to walk up to them and ask them for a table which was a nice change in Istanbul.
The doner was pretty fantastic. Cooked perfectly and sliced thin. They cut their doner square which seems to make so much sense for sheer accuracy.
Pricing by grams was refreshing. Seems very open and honest with prices.
Only thing I could fault them for was location, but that's purely because Im not a fan of the bustling market vibe to eat my dinner.
The Iskender was definitely the highlight of the meal, a solid 5/5. The meat was tender, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the combination with the yogurt was perfect. Absolutely recommended!
The Mixed Kebab Plate, however, didn’t quite live up to expectations. The only really good parts were the doner meat and the Adana kebab. Both well-seasoned and juicy. The other items on the plate were unfortunately not very impressive and fell short in flavor. Overall, a bit disappointing compared to the excellent Iskender.
The soup was nothing special a 3/5.

Excellent donair food. They were able to accommodate 8 of us at two different tables. The service was good, the food was fresh and delicious. Half of us had Iskender, very good, and other Donair plates and wraps. We would definitely come back here to eat again.

Amazing, tasteful Turkish cuisine! The service is very nice and quick, you can see they actually care about their business. Highly recommend eating here, you won’t regret is that for sure!😋

One of the best meals we’ve had in Istanbul. The service was exceptional. The food was out of this world, and the atmosphere was everything I needed. It was the perfect balance of relaxing, warm with a cool breeze, beautiful music and delicious courses. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back here soon! Good food, good service!
Arrived around 20:30 tired and hungry after spending the whole day sightseeing. The restaurant was a bit full but I was seated immediately. I wasn't sure about some items on the menu, and was explained in detail. Ordered the Gavurdaği salad (chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, walnuts, and herbs) and the Halep İşi (a mixed-meat kebap accompanied by stewed egglplant, peppers, and tomatoes; so tasty I forgot to take a picture!)
Food taste was on point, with good portions. The house red wine (Turkish wine) was also flavorful, on the dry side (great!). In the end I was given extra tea and baklava as a treat from the house. Very grateful for the team and Omar for the exceptional service!
We dropped in for dinner and had such a wonderful experience! We were seated quickly as soon as we walked in, and our drinks arrived shortly after. We enjoyed a lovely assortment of olives, tzatziki, and feta served with a big warm bread. The mixed pastry plate was all delicious. The highlight, though, was the mouthwatering lamb rib dinner — perfectly seasoned and so tender it fell right off the bone. And honestly, the service was fantastic. The baklava was also delicious. We’d definitely recommend!
Arrived on a late flight into Istanbul and was looking for a great first meal while visiting Turkey. I saw Food Palace 1981 Anatolian Restaurant had great reviews and was only a few minutes walk from my hotel and open late.
I ordered Chateaubriand (steak) that was recommended by the friendly waiter and it came out sizzling and the meat was so tender. Dipped in the sauces it was so delicious!!! It had sides of white rice, fries and bread. Paired with a delicious white wine it was a great first night in Istanbul! For a little desert there was a raspberry sorbet and baklava that hit my sweet tooth just right!! Very friendly staff. Overall a great first dining experience in Istanbul!!
Food Palace 1981 is amazing. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but it has a very authentic atmosphere and the staff is so inviting and friendly. This is a must add for your trip to Istanbul or if you are a local looking for new restaurant to frequent. Great for families, a date night, or a place to gather and eat with friends.
We had a fantastic meal here. A bit on the pricier side but it was well worth it. We ordered the mix meze platter, which came with 6 different dips, and the Turkish kebab which was well-cooked and seasoned and came with a side of fries and rice. We also got complimentary home-made bread, two other dips, baklava and tea for dessert. Shout out to Apo for his great service!
Fantastic service, great ambience and the food was exceptional! We ordered the mixed grill which was succulent and flavoursome and the Pide was freshly made. Absolutely recommend this place for a true Turkish authentic cuisine . The staff were very hospitable and also gave complimentary Apple tea, baklava and ice cream for my daughter.

We had a great experience in the restaurant, the food was great, we are mix meze, turkish pizza, kebap. The staff was nice. Cicero is a great man, He came to talk with us, and He remembered a youtube video which was a base for our visit. Finally we get turkish tea. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit again but in the future we will try more delicious foods there.

Arguably the best Turkish dinner I had during my stay in Istanbul! I visited as part of an Evening dining experience organised by Zeynep, a local guide! This goes to show why it's worth booking a food tour! You gain valuable local knowledge on the best places to dine and this ranks not just amongst the best Turkish meals I've had but probably one of my favourite meals anywhere!
This was a restaurant frequented by locals and tourists alike and it was awesome eating on one of the upper floors with some stunning views of the area! The restaurant had such a wonderful atmosphere!
Whilst I loved the Adana kebab, the Tavuk şiş and the Büryan the real star of the show was the Perdeli pilav (rice, chicken, onion and nuts wrapped in a thin layer of dough and topped with almonds! Absolutely divine!)
I would seek out this restaurant again if I ever returned to Istanbul! It was amazing!

I’ve been to this place many times and loved every bit of it! I’ve tried their Urfa and Adana kebabs, as well as both the bone-in and boneless büryan, all absolutely delicious. The büryan, in particular, was incredibly tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked and full of rich taste. The staff are amazing: friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful.
Once, I even forgot my backpack at the restaurant and came back after about 30–40 minutes, they had kept it safe for me!
Anyone visiting Istanbul must stop by this place. I bet you’ll want to come back on every trip!

Overall would definitely advice you to go for delicious turkish pizza.

Very friendly staff, with not that much English but they definitely put up with my terrible Turkish longer than they had to. 100% recommended to make the journey a bit out of town!

Once a celebrated establishment among Istanbul’s old-time eateries, Özkilis seems to have lost some of its original charm and the warm, sincere hospitality it was known for. This shift might be attributed to the overwhelming popularity and constant influx of patrons over the years. Despite its famed reputation, the kebaps and lahmacuns served nowadays don’t quite live up to the high praise they once garnered.
Having visited the place on several occasions, I’ve consistently found both the service and the food to be lacking. The experience leaves much to be desired, failing to capture the essence of what once made Özkilis a beloved spot in Istanbul’s culinary scene.

Hatay tava (large size kofte grilled and then simmered with onion on a pan) was fantastic, tavuk shish was just okayish (looks like they cook with red chicken meat). But it looks like locals mostly come for lahmacun
This little cafe in the streets of Fevzipasa is a find. We stumbled upon it, it was busy and the food looked delicious. We ordered Adani kebab, Lahmacun both types and oruk kebab! The food was juicy and authentic! The service was quick and great! The staff spoke some english but enough to understand us.

The restaurant has been serving for over 150 years. The highlight dish is sliced lamb döner served over pide bread, and topped with tomato sauce and melted sheep's milk butter, and accompanied by creamy yogurt. Leave room for the künefe for dessert, it's worth it. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Very delicious meat taste and they even add a couple of pieces of julienne cut beef on top which tasted good too. The price is a bit high but the quality of meat was good. The waiters seemed uninterested and bored of the service and they seemed to be bothered that there are customers in the restaurant as if they wanted everyone to leave so that they can relax. I got that feeling from their attitude of service. Anyway, the place itself seems old and they have good chefs who cook good beef. I’d go again for a takeaway order maybe but not to sit there.

The Iskender plate here was absolutely amazing easily the best I’ve ever had. The flavors were rich, the portion was generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is decent, clean and comfortable. The staff were polite, but unfortunately came off as a bit unwelcoming and distant, which took away slightly from the overall experience.
Still, for the food alone, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Ghisbwas my first lunch in this restaurant. It has a good menu of Turkish cuisine. The place is clean, with natural light and excellent natural ventilation. The staff are sufficient in number, polite, clean aprons, and helpful. Tables were spotless and well cleaned. It was noontime in a business area, and almost 2/3 of the chairs were full. A very positive vibe. I ordered chicken scewere and a green salad. The chicken, despite the fact that was a mix of white and dark meet, was tender and juicy but well done. There were burnt dots on the meet that was because of the marinade. The salad was rich in fiber. Parsley and green parts of spring onions were chopped along with sweet red peppers, wallnauts, and crashed green olives. With salt, olive oil, and lemon juice, it became a great side for the chicken. The glasses and cultry were clean. The price was acceptable for the quality and amounts of food. I will certainly get back to tasting some other dishes and enjoy the relaxing environment. One more good thing: they accept food cards! Highly recommended.
I had a serious craving for an İskender kebab, so I asked a few local friends where I could get the best one in town. They brought me to Bursa Garaj, which seems to be a pretty popular spot. We ordered a portion and a half to share, and I’ve got to say, it came out looking really impressive, definitely an eye-pleaser. The taste was good, no doubt about it, but for me it didn’t quite hit the “best İskender ever” mark. My old favorite used to be Uludağ, but since they shut down, I guess my search for the ultimate İskender continues!
Was recommended to come here by a local when I wanted something simple but genuinely Turkish. Not disappointed! Friendly staff and the service was super fast. I had the lamb Iskender which was cooked really nicely and the bread was delicious. Finished off with a Kemal Pasha. The place is simple and clean, but you don't come here for the atmosphere.

Huh a steak house with an early bird ! Here it is in Beyoğlu ! I heard from the coffee guy to go here for steak and they can make it Rare medium. I was so happy that it came out medium RARE pink in the middle through out. Here is the bill 795.00 about 20 bucks !!! I missed the early bird 1-5 pm

We first discovered this place after visiting their other location, which focuses more on Doner Kebabs just across the street in Cihangir. Having had a fantastic experience there, we decided to try their larger restaurant, and it did not disappoint. Both of us opted for the mixed grill, wanting to sample all their offerings, including lamb chops, meatballs, kebabs, and steak. Each cut of meat was cooked to absolute perfection—worthy of Michelin-star standards. The flavors and textures were impeccable, showcasing the skill and care that goes into every dish.
A special shoutout to the lovely waitress (we think her name was Simge/Sibel) who had previously recommended this restaurant to us at their other location. She remembered us when we arrived and provided excellent recommendations once again. Her warmth and expertise added a personal touch to our visit.
Portion sizes were just right, and the service was impressively quick without feeling rushed. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this restaurant is a must-visit. You can enjoy lamb and beef steaks of very good quality and taste at affordable prices. The camera shows the steak you ordered being cooked, so you can trust the food. It is clear that this is a local restaurant as they are constantly delivering food. The chicken wings and lamb steak are especially delicious, so be sure to try them. House wine is only served by the glass, which isn't bad.
If your looking for a good local steak place this is it! It’s a very authentic place dating back to 1950s which used to be Butcher shop they still have a butcher shop but the meat was just perfect and their T-bone was super! They also have a screen so you can watch your food being cooked!

I’ve known this place for more than 10 years. Although it’s quality was better before, it’s still one of the greatest Steakhouses in the town.
The meats were tender and cooked as desired. We were a group of six people, and almost everyone was satisfied with their plates. The sides however were a little bit cold.
However, the buffalo milk based yogurt was not so good. It was phenomenal before, but not anymore. Sucuk was also better before, now it’s okay. Kuzu böbrek(kidney) was fine but the portion was so small.
You can ask for wine.
I would stay away from Irmik Helva if I were you. It was burnt and so lost it’s real flavor.
The prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting. That makes this place worth the try!

Delicious burger and chips. The beef iskander was tasty and tender. Kasabim had been recommended to us via a magazine article which we've carried around for at least 3 years so this was a long overdue visit. We weren't disappointed and enjoyed the terrace and watching the world go by on the street.

If you want a quick bite, then this place isn't bad..my durum was good , it didn't have usual lamb fat taste ,the only complaint was that the lavash part was quite thick , on the whole I would recommend this place for doner and durum.
In çoban salad they put only cucumbers, tomatoes and for some reason PEPPERS. There was neither cheese, nor olives, which were in the pic on the menu. This is quite disappointing to pay full price for a simple veggie salad. Still, döners were tasty.

I just had the Konsept Doner Beyti and it was very good for a very reasonable price. The kitchen is open and very clean, also you can tell the cooks know what they are doing. Attached are menus as I found the website difficult to access.
I like this place very much and I try to come here whenever I stay in this area of Istanbul. The steaks are excellent, from a professional cut and we'll prepared to the point. A challenge might be communication, as not all the staff speaks English - but somehow we will work around that together. I do recommend.
If you are a foreigner they will charge more than the price of the menu, I was planning to go several times during my stay, of course I will no come back!

The food was amazing.
The highlight of the evening was the tea the young waiter brought at the end of dinner — a wonderful touch that made the experience truly memorable.
Two days later, I couldn’t resist coming back, as I had been so well attended on my first visit. I also wanted to check about a card I thought I had lost there. The manager kindly reviewed the camera footage with great attention, and it became clear that I hadn’t lost the card at the restaurant — proving it’s a place of total trust and integrity.
During this third visit, I asked the manager if he could help me by preparing smaller portions so that, being alone, I could try a greater variety of dishes — and it turned out to be the best culinary experience! Each dish was outstanding, and the care taken to make my visit special was truly remarkable.

Food was not bad. A bit pricey. Place is definitely hyped in Google Maps. My Garlic kebab which took like 45 minutes wasn’t anything super special, and it lacked salt, basically they added zero amount of salt to the food. The other chopped meat with egg plant was tasty though.
My first time in Istanbul and was looking for a place to grab dinner. For me and my mom’s memorable first Istanbul dinner, we had a kebab mix plate , lentil soup, tea and baklava. Everything was perfectly cooked, great volume and the taste was far beyond phenomenal. Will definitely be back soon for more food :) Thank you to the kind shop owners and for their excellent service.
We came twice to this restaurant because we really like the food and friendly service. We tried some traditional turkish food and we were really satisfied with the taste of all of them. We tried pide, lahmacun, lentil soup, meat dishes...everything perfect, fresh and full of taste. We received a free bread tea and cake on house. Waiters were very proffessional and friendly.

I have eaten here many times on my trip to Istanbul. The service, food, and atmosphere are bar none. They treat you like family - Omer and Heybet are especially charming! The chicken Shepherd Kebab and the Cheese Pita (try to aubergine dip) are personal favorites.
Absolutely love this place! The manager was very friendly and polite, as well as the staff. The food was very delicious and at reasonable prices. This adorable sign welcomes you as you sit down at your table. We went there for lunch but we liked it so much we came back for dinner as well. The place also offers plenty of good vegetarian options, which is rare for Istanbul. So, next time you are visiting Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque choose “Fuego” for you well deserved lunch break.

It is located in a very popular area plenty of bars for drink, full of people enjoying life. A must go definitely.

Having found a long standing review from the Guardian, my wife and I ventured to what we thought would be a nice Turkish dining experience. What we got was food that came quickly with all mezes all prepared on the plate. The meat, which tasted good, was not hot which is what you expect. What was more shocking was the price. We spent £83 for a deconstructed kebab where we had one glass of wine and one beer 450tl. The 10% service charge seemed rather extravagant for what we got.
People were nice but would say that venture here if you want to be over charged. Upon reflection very dissappointing. These are uk prices in Istanbul.
We loved this place so much during our visit to Istanbul that we went twice. It’s a beautiful reprieve from the traffic on the streets below and looks down over charming cobble stone alleys. The food is fresh, served fast, and is so flavorful.

Visited April 2017 - Tucked just behind Tünel’s upper station, Antiochia takes its name and mission from Antakya – the ancient city of Antioch – a region where cuisines and cultures have met for centuries. The mural at the entrance sets the scene: Hatay as a crossroads of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim heritage, expressed here through food.
The setting is modern warehouse chic, with exposed brick, an open kitchen, and a lively mix of local and international diners. Staff are attentive without fuss, and they found me – a solo traveller – a cosy corner to take it all in.
I ordered the Antiochia lamb chops, marinated with the region’s signature hot pepper paste. They arrived just shy of perfection – juicy, well seasoned, though a touch more char would have sealed the deal. The plate came with four meze that spoke of place: smoky abagannuç, smooth hummus, olives lifted with mountain thyme, and a striking walnut and red pepper purée. Each was well made, with the muhammara in particular carrying the essence of the region.
Yet the standout was the unassuming “sauced bread” – biberli ekmek – a thin flatbread griddled with red pepper and oil. Simple, bold, and unforgettable.
Great secluded place from the main street that goes to taksim square. The menu is not with many options but everything is very tasty. The mezes are great. The minced beef kebab is tender and full of flavours.

Exceptional restaurant within a palace. You had me at palace. The attentiveness of the staff was otherworldly, but the tasting menu, catered to vegetarian dishes was mildly lack luster. There was no difference in price for the veggie minded enthusiasts which was disappointing. The chef did go beyond in trying to remedy the already fixed menu though. Each portion was artfully presented and enjoyed. Overall the atmosphere was mildly stuffy. It’s an exceptionally beautiful space and we were lucky to have a stunning view of the Bosporus. Other tasting menus blew this one out of the park though, hence the missing star. But if you are looking for the experience and the impeccable history of the establishment.

An unforgettable experience in a stunning setting. The food at Tuğra was refined, flavorful, and clearly prepared with great care. The service was outstanding from start to finish – attentive, friendly, and professional. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, with a unique atmosphere and a breathtaking view that adds to the entire experience.
One small downside: after an extensive (and pricey) meal, they charge €10 for a cup of tea or coffee. In a restaurant of this level, you would expect that to be complimentary or offered as a gesture of hospitality. It feels a bit out of place in such a luxurious environment.
That said, it’s definitely worth a visit and highly recommended for anyone looking for a special culinary evening in Istanbul.

This restaurant is inside a breathtaking palace. The location and the experience there are totally worthy of the price tag. The service, ambiance, staff, music, and privacy of each table, all of it is perfect. The food itself has a high quality of products. However, the flavors were too far from my preferred palette. So I couldn't really eat and enjoy the taste of the food (signature lamb dish). I understand that's a personal preference. Just for the experience, I totally recommend it.

Metet are the best in Istanbul to serve iskandar, as we tried many other places. they served it with fresh farm yogurt, salad and pickles.

A friend of mine showed me this place one night and we ended up eating here the next 3 nights for the rest of our trip! Even if we were all the way on the other European side, we always found ourselves gravitating towards this restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the food is tasty, and the staff are sweet, what more could you ask for? Generously, the meal would start with bread and ezme and end with baklava. Lentil soup, eggplant salad, and menemen were some of our go-tos. The adana kebab and chicken were also winners! I would give more stars if I could haha. This was definitely the best value-for-money dinner I had in Istanbul! I had the spicy kebab and an aubergine 'salad' (cooked with tomatoes and capsicum) which were really yummy and both good portion sizes. The meal came to 520 in total including my drink.

Terrible experience! I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The staff were extremely rude and displayed clear racist behavior, especially towards non-Turkish customers. One of the staff gave me very unpleasant looks and made comments in Turkish. I also witnessed another customer, who was there with his family, have an argument with the staff just because he asked for an empty plate — and they wanted to charge him extra for it! Absolutely unacceptable. Very disappointing.

The dishes are epic. The only negative comment I can think is about the Avocado salad. Avocados were already mushy and not enjoyable. The restaurant should give more attention to ingredient quality.
The bread basket is so unique. Comes with fresh creamy butter and Tulum cheese. A great way to start the feast.
Lahmacun and içli were okay. Not the best in town. You can skip these.
Gavurdağı salad was good. Goes good with kebabs.
Grilled liver is a good hot starter option to share. Tenderly cooked and juicy.
The meat dishes were perfectly cooked and very tender. Especially, I loved the Kuzu Tandır. It was a true pleasure.

As a dessert we ordered semolina halva with ice cream. It’s pretty good but a bit sweet and orange zest is a bit overpowering the taste.
Prices are reasonable for big portions. You will approximately pay 1,200-1,500 TL per person, excluding alcohol.
I can’t tell enough about the magnificent Bosphorus views. Breathtaking ambiance!

Food was okay. Nothing to rave about. You are here mainly for the view not the Food.
Great view to Bosphorus, calm place. Tasty food. Attaching menu (prices - September 2024) but lira is changing regularly, so appx. 1 main meal is around 30 eur. Staff are doing their job but nothing special, you do not feel as welcomed guest, the rest is perfect. They are adding 10% extra as a service fee at the end. No problem with parking - it's a private paid place next to restaurant, it seems always avaliable places since it's huge.
This restaurant might just be the best fine dining experience in Istanbul. Everything from the taste of the food to the waiters is perfect. The warm bread and butter with cheese served before the meal are excellent. For starters, I tried the keşkek, pilaki, and leaf liver. The keşkek has a more neutral flavor but is worth trying. The pilaki is oniony and flavorful. The leaf liver is thinly sliced but a bit dry. The main course, lamb tandoori, was truly great. The outer part of the meat was perfectly caramelized and the inside was tender. The rice served alongside was a bit dry, but it had a nice sweet and spicy flavor. The chocolate soufflé we had for dessert was also successful. The politeness of the waitstaff is really good. This place is definitely worth visiting, not just for its beautiful view and historic building, but also for its delicious food and service.
Great food and great service makes it a fantastic venue for dinner. Arrive for sunset to make the most of the unique view over looking the Bosphorus. During the summer most likely will be a wedding happening so sit back and gate crash a wedding via proxy. Good choice of wine, beers and big selection of foods for all tastes.

This is one of the best restaurants to take your foreign friends out for a descent dinner and for the "amazing" view of Bosphorus in the terrace. Borsa is owned by Dream group so the quality of food is very good. I haven’t noticed anything special on the menu, and I don’t really have a favorite food there. But everyone can find something good quality to eat. The staff and the service is ok. There is a valet service. That’s a plus for me.
This location is also very much preferred for wedding parties, there might be some live music to accompany you while you dine. If you are not keen on loud music, ask to be seated towards the entrance of the terrace.
During the winter, I prefer this place for lunch. The inner spaces are very nicely decorated and lunch times are less crowded and more private.

The kebab shop Kebapçı İskender is the place where the doner kabob was created. After sitting down, they were served raisin juice and then the main course came - each person had a plate of bread and on top was sliced lamb doner with tzatziki sauce.

This is an extremely overrated place which can be seen by its low rating. Yes, the place is old and historical and so are the dishes which reflect conservatism. To be honest it is not that delicious and I tried way tastier isender kebabs in turkey. On top of everything it is extremely expensive and the price does not reflect the quality of the establishment. It’s time to update our review of @iskenderiskenderogluofficial, aka Kebapçı İskender, that we shared years ago. As someone living abroad, I can easily say that İskender Kebab is one of the 5 signature dishes of Turkish cuisine. I don’t remember leaving the restaurant in Kadıköy unhappy in terms of taste either. We can’t criticize the restaurant regarding prices because economic conditions are so bad in Turkiye now. However, they definitely surpass the past in terms of service personnel and service quality. The arguments among the personnel and the cold attitude they show to the guests were noticeable during our last visits.
This place was part of our food tour and was told it was the birthplace of the iskender kebab. Have to say that the butter over the meat, everything was damn tasty and probably my wife's favourite dish we had that day. Was an awesome experience and really great and friendly service.
Food here was great although very expensive. Our youngest couldn't eat a lot because it was lamb but she liked the grape juice which was frech and sweet. Only downside was the man who served us continously reminded us for a tip. He asked if we had cash to leave tip. We left 20 lira, only cash we had but he murmured.. no euro?? Please, this ruins the nice experience. Other than this the restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere.

Not only foreigners, but as a Turkish, we also have been explicitly asked for a tip. I go there since the day it opened. Looks like this place also got their share from cultural erosion happening in the country. As a restaurant serving a traditional Turkish dish, you should know better that in our culture we dont ask for tips. The tip comes from the customer to appreciate your service if there is something to appreciate.

Absolutely the best breakfast experience in Istanbul! The food was delicious, the view was breathtaking, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everything was served fresh and with such great attention to detail. Highly recommend King Iskenderoğlu if you want a memorable breakfast with an amazing view and warm hospitality.

We went with the family tonight place was recommended by our limo guy! Red flag to begin, over all place was nice and clean, service was slow and like many people in Turkey the staff has very poor english speaking skills, food was ok and nothing fabulous but the bill was showing, they don’t have very clear pricing on the menu and it’s charged per person per serving, we ordered too much by mistake as the waiter couldn’t tell us what the portion size would be!

When customers object to these unexpected charges, the staff simply responds by saying “this is the restaurant’s policy” - despite never informing customers beforehand that these appetizers would be charged.
Definitely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Waiters were extremely rude and did not want to help us in any way. They did not speak any English, and when they found out we weren’t locals, they refused to serve us. We sat at a table and practically begged someone to take our order but they wouldn’t provide a menu. Wish I could comment about the food but we were served nothing.
They offer traditional Turkish grills and food. Taste and quality is above average but it is pricey. The seating area by the window overlooking the phosphorous is scenic and romantic. They offer a paid Vale service because it is si hard to find a parking on your own on that area
Amazing view! The service and food are very good as well. It was disappointing to get the flat bread (pide) served cold, as this is a no for kebab restaurants.I am hoping this was a one time occurrence and not repeated. The “ baz kebap” is worth trying as well as “tandir” if you like lamb.

I saw that on other people's review so that's how we ask and order. They also have a separate dish of just onions and cilantro. If you're an onion lover, I 100% recommend getting that. Meat is always better with onions!

I’ve been eating döner for about 11 years, and this is the only place where the quality has never changed. Asım Usta’s Karadeniz Döner in Beşiktaş is not just a döner shop, it’s one of the few places that truly reflects the spirit of Beşiktaş. The döner here is always juicy, perfectly seasoned, and worth every bite. Even if there’s a long queue, people wait patiently, because they know it will be worth it.
In my opinion, Karadeniz Döner by Asım Usta is one of the best places to eat Döner. The prices are a little bit high, but in return you get quality food and taste. The restaurant has a very limited seating.

Amazing quality food - the tastiest Kebap meat we had in all of Istanbul. We got placed at a table of a bar across the street which had me worried at first but it’s a clever concept. As there are basically no seats for the kebap restaurant, they cooperate with the surrounding bars and you can sit there, enjoy your kebap while you get the drinks from the bar. The kebap is expensive though but definitely worth trying - after all you’re on holiday right? The staff is also very friendly and we enjoyed ourselves. 10/10

Ekrem was my server and he is amazing. I had lots of questions and even though it was busy he didn't rish me. The food was seasoned very good and they are very friendly the menu has so many options from American Cuisine vegetarian also Turkish cuisine I chose the lamb that came with rice onions tomatoes bread and I had Turkish tea. You get pita bread with a spicy tomato based sauce along with cheese and butter, its amazing together. My food cost 700tl and more than enough for leftovers.
I’ve been to Munhasır in Taksim several times, and every visit has been amazing — thanks to Erkan, who truly delivers the best hospitality you could ask for. He’s always friendly, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home. You can tell he genuinely cares about every guest.

Stopped here while walking through İstiklal Street. The place has a nice atmosphere, especially if you sit upstairs near the windows. The Adana kebap platter was served with perfectly cooked and seasoned Adana. The lamb heart was not chewy and delicious. And the soup and hot side is salsa was spectacular. I gotta say this was the only place that has food with some heat 🌶️. The beyran is very flavorful too.
It’s very unassuming but I highly recommend you give it a try. All the attention has gone to the food here and it’s exceptional. Located in a perfect spot to access by everyone too. Don’t sleep on it. Abs make sure to get the künefe, it’ll change your life.

Don’t be put off by the low key style as looks can be deceiving- especially as a first time tourist in Istanbul - but this came recommended and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. The Beyran soup was spicier than I expected but it was delicious. For some reason this place seemed popular with Asians who were the only diners whilst we were there.
Stumbled across this restaurant searching for Kalle Paça soup and found it here. Delicious, filling and warm. Perfect for winter days to warm you up. The soup is made up of cow head meat and it's bone broth. Also had deliciously fresh ayran, extra salty just how I prefer.
Would recommend this place and definitely would come back when I'm back in Istanbul.
This was our first dinner in Istanbul, just down the street from our hotel, and it ended up being my favorite place to eat. I got the spicy Adana kebab and wow… it was sooo good. Perfectly spiced, with this amazing sauce, fresh bread, onions, lettuce, and bulgur on the side.
The only downside is that it's near a construction site and every so often construction dust would fly through the air. I suggest you eat inside.
Price was fair too, especially since it’s right in Sultanahmet. We liked it so much we came back 3 times. The owner is super nice and welcoming. Don’t miss this place.

This unassuming establishment serves kebab, soup, and kunefe that sets your heart racing with excitement as you eat - it's hard to find words that capture how perfectly these dishes are executed. And the ayran deserves a special frothy mention too...just look at the photo, it's a must-try! Safe to say, no food on that table survived to see the light of day. Incredible! The price is European standard so not so cheap, but the cake has very good quality, plus the view, I think overall it worth it. When you finish visiting the palace, this is a good place to take a rest and have cake with coffee. I recommend this one.

I had an enjoyable lunch here with a group of colleagues and acquaintances. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious, but the portions were enormous. I particularly liked the lentil soup. The best part of the restaurant is the amazing location within the Topkapı Palace Museum complex.
After 5 hours of touring the amazing Topkapı Palace and hearing more about sherbert (the cold drink not the frozen treat) we stopped here for one and some ice cream. The mixed flavor sherbet was amazing! Pomegranate, ginger, rose water, and some other things I didn't catch. The modern serving containers were not exactly the same as the old school ones 😅. The pistachio ice cream was 4/5. Very creamy and delicious. Would I spend a lot of money to eat a meal here? Probably not, but it was a great place to recharge looking at the beautiful scenery and enjoying a treat before exiting the palace gates and heading back into the busy city.
Interesting to end the Topkaki historical tour and eat a piece of history here at this restaurant. The same Ottoman sherbet was mentioned in the historical kitchen displays and served at this restaurant. Definitely recommended to complete the entire Topkaki palace experience.

While the food did not exceed expectations. I'd suggest people to go here more for the view. The restaurant gives a magnificent view of the Bosphorus where you can see many kinds of ships crossing. I didn't expect our experience to be that bad. The place was so crowded so we thought that food was at least going to be good. To start with, we had to wait to find a table which was okay as it was a vacation.
The prices which were a bit expensive compared to other places offering same food.
Anyway considering the food, most of it didn't even arrive after even 40 mins so we ordered check and left, they even charged us for the foos which we had to tell them more than 2 times this food didn't even arrive so we aren't supposed to pay for it.
The taste is just tastless not to say bad, the portions are small, beyti kebap is with NO CHEESE. Meat plates with less than 50 grams of beef for those prices..
Endless mistakes.
The waiter responsible saw how bad things went and apologized one time while we were going. But nothing could fix this bad experience.
For those interested the prices were: 50t.l for pide, 72t.l for beyti kebap and other kebaps, 25 t.l for lahmacun. 10 to 15t.l per drink.

I would give no star if it was possible. Been there three times already and in first two visit all I experienced smelly rude waiters and their supervisors or managers. Food is below average and they very offen got confused with orders. Today, we tried midye which is highly suggested by our friend. We had nothing but another frustration. Midye is actually sobiyet. It was very buttery and pistachio on it was very heavy, strong. I must say I tasted some pistachio pieces and doesn't taste pistachio. Their toilets also always dirty with no tissues. NOT RECOMMENDED.

We had lahmacun and pide. Lahmacun was okay but pide was too oily. The place could be cleaner based on the pricing that is relatively high.

Crazy good street restaurant. The service is quick, the food is great, the prices are amazing compared to the surroundings. We had Adana Kebab, Urfa Kebab, Chicken Shish, Lamb and Lentil Soup. Everything is tasty and feels fresh and flavourful. The salads and the Kadayif dessert are also good. We ate here two times, and will definitely come back here when we visit Istanbul again. Also, one of the waiters, Ibrahim, speaks Romanian. 10/10.

A little quaint and cozy place near Grand Bazaar. A bit difficult to find especially when you are hungry. Food is simple and delicious - place reeks if nostalgia and authenticity and has no airs about it. What a Gem ! Highly recommend their Kebabs. Even the Bulgur was so good. Had the Lahmacun with Kiremitte, Tavuk Kebap and Mardin Kebap. All extremely good.

At the Altıntepe neighborhood best place for quality price performance. The food is fresh and delicious, service is good and price is suitable. Just a small note there isn't any alcohol beverage.

I was very surprised to find a restaurant nestled in a green garden in the busy streets of Istanbul. The food is great. The service is even better. The atmosphere is very nice but just like any other restaurant in Istanbul there's so much smoking going on that the smoke gets in the non smoking areas. Non smoking section is a semi covered outdoor area with retractable roof and heaters. Despite the relentless smoke we enjoyed our meal and spent nearly 4 hours enjoying our evening. Non smoking section was pretty much empty and there was no pressure to leave. I believe they make reservations.
