Turkish restaurant
Kebab shop
Located near the bustling Galata Bridge and the historic Spice Bazaar, Hamdi Restaurant in Eminönü is a popular spot for succulent charcoal-grilled kebabs and a variety of meze options. The restaurant offers a stunning view of Eminönü Square and the Golden Horn from its sixth-floor location. Despite being somewhat pricey, it's known for serving alcohol, which is unusual for a kebab restaurant.
very good place to eat. We had a Alinazik Kebab, it was absolutely delicious. staff was very lovely as well and gave us recommandation for dessert, we had Kunefe, which was nice and very different.
Cloé G — Google review
A good local spot. We were recommended this place often during out stay in Istanbul. The pide and pistachio kebab were a highlight for sure. And almost worth a visit for those alone. The baklava was also excellent. Order the Hamdi special baklava if you go - it contains more pistachio flavour. Unfortunately the sides and what came with he Kebab could be better. The bulgar wheat was fine if a little dry. We had much nicer bulgar at a different restaurant. The service wasn't the most friendly but nothing untoeards - perhaps what you can expect from the Turkish tempremant. However, they were too efficient. My girlfriends plate was taken from under her before she even put her knife and fork down. It was so fast it took us both by surprise and although we were used to the efficiency of the waiting staff here this was a bit obtrusive. Atmosphere was okay. A little quiet as we were sat on the first floor. This could be nice for some but we would rather have been in the main room a floor up with everyone else.

Visited October 2019 – Hamdi Restaurant occupies a prime spot on Eminönü square, its neon crown visible day and night. Once a humble Urfa kebap stand, this is now Hamdi Arpacı’s flagship, with formal dining upstairs and a ground floor lined with trays of baklava, kadayıf, and katmer ready to pack or plate. Turkish dining often separates savoury and sweet, and Hamdi still bridges both worlds. I came for katmer: pistachio and clotted cream folded into thin pastry, baked crisp and fragrant. Once rare in Istanbul, it’s now essential - a dessert worth crossing the city for. 9/10

The food was tasty enough, but the price was way too expensive for what offered. Great view and very central place next to Egyptian Bazaar, but I was expecting much better service and quality.
Chiara M — Google review
well...well.....well... so bad service from your staff with bald hair.. i just came today....and we just asking about the breakfast or any menu..but your staff keep asking us to go to another restaurant, and he said there is no breakfast, same like he need to kick us out from the restaurant...3 times he ask us to go out to go to another restaurant..and pretending he is busy...did he think we are poor people...?? did he racist because im Asian.. ?? and that time i saw a lots of European ppl there...really he is rude...for asian ppl, for arabic ppl...im not suggesting this restaurant for you all...we are not welcoming here..ya Rabb, i hope that man will be fired soon...Aamiinnn..

We dropped by Hamdi after shopping at the Egyptian bazaar. The restaurant overlooks Bosphorous river. We went for dinner on a weekday without reservations. The patio was full, but the tables upstairs were available. The service was good and Turkish specials were good especially the desserts and pistachio kabobs. Service charge of 10% is added to the bill. Worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
Swaroop S — Google review
The food is incredibly overpriced, service is terrible and the portions are avarage. We were just offered to sit at the entrance (the upper floors were completely full?! No baby chair. For 3 ppl we got only 2 small pieces of bread, barely visible in the basket. When we asked for more we had to wait for ages. We went the three of us for dining (incl one toddler) ordered meze, salad, soup and a maindish. I got the wrong dish, which i didnt accept. By the time my food arrived everyone else already finished eating, and i got again not the main dish I ordered! Plus the waitress kept insisting that it was definitely what I wanted, what a joke!!! For me that was it! And despite I had barely eaten (no maindish) and our toddler just ate half portion we paid 4400 lira (€92). This place is a scam.Never again!!
A. K — Google review
⚠️ Beware — scam tactics here! The food is average at best and massively overpriced for what you get. They charged us over 5,100 TL and we shared 2 main plates and 2 appetizers for 4 people for dinner. The staff tried to mislead us by suggesting service wasn’t included, clearly pressuring for an extra tip. Even worse, our final bill was higher than the menu prices. The charged if 4 times for tine portions that looks nothing like what’s shown on the menu. — a clear scam. This place is dishonest and not worth your money. I will not recommend and strongly advise others to avoid it.

Fine dining restaurant
Chophouse restaurant
Turkish restaurant
Beyti is a renowned restaurant in Istanbul known for its traditional meat-focused menu and vast, old-world ambiance with a terrace. The restaurant holds a rich history, having been opened by Mr. Beyti himself in the 1980s. It boasts a mix of contemporary design and Ottoman art, offering some of the best kebabs in Istanbul, including the famous Beyti kebab. Notable personalities like Nixon and Arthur Miller have dined here.
Starving, and on the hunt for something that truly captivates Istanbul’s spirit, I stumbled across Beyti, a legendary establishment, mythical in status, dating back to 1945, and more notably featuring on Mark Wein’s best restaurant in Istanbul. 18km from The Ritz Carlton, the trip took around 1hr through Istanbul’s metropolis rush hour. A giant bull decorates the garden, signalling your stop. A series of greeters met me at the front door, waiters moving at light speed, and effortlessly gliding to their destination, with copper coloured cloches preserving hidden secrets beneath them, ready to delight whoever was lucky enough to receive it. After sitting down, I was frequented by multiple servers, each very well dressed, clearly and deservingly, very proud of their work. I decided on the speciality starter, the “Imam Fainted”. This alone was an entire backstory of its own, the unique flavours bursting through impossibly, and was served in what seemed like seconds after ordering. Next up, was the mixed platter. I’d originally eagle eyed the doner kebab, but I was kindly advised this was included in the mixed platter, which I had also ordered. The doner kebab was served first of the mix - I was a little nervous I’d ordered the wrong thing, because there was no other signs of the other cuts of meat. However, after finishing the most perfectly sliced pieces of succulent doner, another waiter arrived and placed two sizzling pieces of grilled meatballs on my plate, along with mashed potato. Although arguably not ball shaped, these could be any shape they wanted, as they were absolutely spectacular. Following that, I was presented with the sheesh Kebab or kidney grill (I couldn’t tell), but the cuts were perfectly singed on the outside, whilst perfectly cooked on the inside. Finally, the lamb chop. I have no idea how this retained so much flavour. It was, quite simply, astonishing, and easily the star of the show. Baklava, Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee all followed, I somehow made even more space to fit in the Turkish hospitality. Once again, I was stopped short of tarnishing my meal with adding sugar to my tea, and I was given assurance that the Baklava was sugary enough, without adding sugar to the tea. The coffee was ultra strong and I felt like I’d just shotted 4 monsters, which was exactly what I needed from stopping me from slipping into a food comatose. Truly satisfied and stuffed to the point of exploding, I was kindly offered a tour of the building by Yusuf. Softly spoken, and having dedicated 23 years of servitude to Beyti, there was magic to his storytelling that itself could have been a tour of Istanbul. As we walked around, I realised Beyti is a time capsule, showcasing items collected from the Ottoman Empire, to various visits from Emperors of Japan, to Presidents of American. As we toured from room to room, what astonished me was the diversity in decor, almost as if each segment had been added on in each decade, each with its own story and charm. As my journey came to an end, Yusuf bid me farewell on my journey after calling a cab. I left feeling like I’d just visited one of the great wonders of the world. I can’t wait to return and continue the culinary journey at Beyti.

This restaurant is truly one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had in Türkiye. My parents and I were completely impressed from start to finish. The service is warm and attentive, and the dishes are of outstanding quality – you can feel the passion and craftsmanship in every detail. The only minor point of criticism would be the bread at the beginning, which could have been better. Other than that, everything was absolutely excellent. It feels as if you are being welcomed into someone’s home and treated like family. We felt very comfortable and well taken care of. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Well, its obviously a fancy famous restaurant.. You will be blown away by the atmosphere and little details.. Honestly great.. loved the place, the different corners and the whole setting.. Obviously super expensive since its well-known for wealth and famous people.. Yet if Im honest, when it comes to food it sef I was expecting something better.. I cant say it wasn't good.. but wasn't worth the price.. Menu is limited.. Mainly meet options.. And the plate it self wasn't really inviting.. Nicely cooked yet nothing special.. And to compare with other Turkish fine dining, I would say way better options are available.. Service is good.. Might be a bit bothering to have someone staying by your table all the time, yet staff are professional and friendly.. A special thank you to Khalid and Mert.. Valet parking available.. Thanks everyone..

Classic restaurant with classic steak. So many celebrities have visited this place. Its like steak back in the day where they don’t really marinate it. I would give it 7/10. Although the restaurant is a bit far from city center , it’s nice to visit once
Porsha K — Google review
Beyti is the best restaurant in my world … and my world had visited a lot till now. The Turkish cuisine at its peek … the food is amazingly cooked and the ingredients are very carefully chosen … I even heard that they grow their own meat … that is why it is so so tasty
Rma Y — Google review
The ambiance was nice, food was really delicious and the service was excellent. Prices are a little high but it is worth it.
Rawan G — Google review
We visited Beyti Restaurant in for a business dinner and had an excellent experience. The food was delicious and well-prepared, and the service was professional and attentive. The ambiance is elegant and full of history the walls are lined with photos of many famous guests, including well known public figures and politicians who have visited over the years. It gives the place a special charm and reflects its long-standing reputation in Istanbul. Overall, it’s a great place for both business and personal dining. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy authentic Turkish cuisine in a historic and classy setting.

Grill
Zübeyir Ocakbaşı/Taksim is a popular restaurant near Taksim square, known for its cozy and packed atmosphere. The grill opposite Zubeyir Usta offers comfortable seating and a vibrant menu. Signature dishes like gavurdagi salatasi and kozde patlican are highly recommended starters, followed by lamb chops and sebzeli kebap. The garlicky beyti kebab with a brilliant yogurt dip is also a must-try.
The kebabs are very juicy and flavoursome. The lamb doesn't have gamey flavours and hence very suitable for those who don't usually tolerate lamb. Don't sit beside the grill though, unless you wanna turn into a kebab too!
Eugene W — Google review
If you’re looking for the best Turkish food in Taksim Square, Zübeyir Ocakbaşı is the place to be. The meat was unbelievably succulent and fresh, cooked to absolute perfection with that authentic ocakbaşı flavor you can’t get anywhere else. Every bite was rich, tender, and packed with taste. The hospitality was just as impressive. The waiters were incredibly helpful, attentive, and made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. It’s rare to find service this consistently good. This has become my go-to restaurant in Taksim, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving top-quality Turkish cuisine. A must-visit!
Zak A — Google review
Zubeyir Ocakbasi is a quintessential Istanbul kebab-house. normally, i'm too full after mezze at most places to even enjoy the meats, but here i always wait for the main plates. great vibe, buzz and atmosphere alongside deliciously grilled kebabs. a must-visit.
Ali A — Google review
It was my first time trying an original-style kebab like this, and I really enjoyed it. The flavor was authentic and unique, unlike any kebab I’ve had before. They also did a great job handling the strong gamey taste of the lamb/goat meat. It was well-balanced and delicious.
Punyawee W — Google review
Amazing food and a great setting, we were sat right by the BBQ. Would definitely return 😍 only negative is the waited said we hadn't ordered enough so added another dish that we couldn't finish! Would definitely return.
Zoe E — Google review
Avarege experience at this restaurant. The food was good but took ages to arrive. We got a lot of smoke from the people eating outside which was unpleasant. The staff was unfortunately very rude and confrontational especially when we asked to pay separately as we were a big group which turned into a heated argument
F D — Google review
Visited 2017, 2019 — The draw on this Taksim side street, Zubeyir's copper-hooded hearths glow at its centre. The usta works half-hidden, skewers basted with kuyruk yağı as the flames rise; crouch down and he’ll return a smile and thumbs-up, accolades hanging behind him. Meals start with tabbouleh, çoban salatası and bread, brusting with fresh. The standouts remain the lamb adana and Ciğer çöp şiş: moist yet cooked through, full of flavour, rolled in lavaş with onion, parsley and sumac — outstanding, and worthy of its reputation. On a later visit, tavuk şiş was well handled, if more restrained. Aubergine, salad and rakı alongside. 9/10.
Loo Y — Google review
Omg! It was amazing! Some of the best food I ever had. I had half portion lamb chops, half portion of lamb shashlik and one full kebab and tzatziki. Everything was perfect! The best parts were pieces of fat in lamb shashlik, the spiciness and juiciness of the kebab and the meat on the chops was also flavorful, soft and it was cooked perfectly. The grill master is a true artist and hustler. He was managing countless skewers like the women who make laces. He was sitting behind a wall of smoke giving his full attention to the food and fire in front of him. I cook on coals sometimes and manage up to 5 pieces and I feel overwhelmed. He had 20-30 skewers with different meats, veggies and lavash, and an upside down pot with coal. What a hard job and how well does he do it. The meal was perfect! For dessert I had baklava packed with pistachios and strong fragrant tea. I loved everything!

Doner kebab restaurant
Bayramoğlu Döner is a popular restaurant located on the Asian side of Istanbul, known for its exclusive focus on serving doner kebabs. Despite its unassuming atmosphere, it attracts both local celebrities and tourists who are willing to wait in line for a taste of their renowned doner kebabs. The menu is limited, offering Turkish bread, soup, doner kebab, and Turkish tea.
Best food experience in Istanbul and it’s the best Döner in this city! My hubby and I come from Berlin so we aren’t foreign to Döner culture and this was Exceptional. We are so glad we made it out here because it was so far from the tourist area. Firstly, service is so welcoming and friendly. There’s limited items on the menu so one can’t get overwhelmed. We ordered 2x single meat. They only have lamb meat here so if you are looking for an alternative they will not have it. They also have basic pairings like linsen soup, rice again it’s the most simple menu. Second point, bread is made on site as it’s open kitchen so you see everything. Having fresh bread makes a difference. Lastly, meat quality is top notch, thinly sliced. It’s just delicate and melts in one’s mouth. Then you are served with some green salad, fries, and pickled chili peppers, pickled onion. It’s all the perfect combination. Recommend as this is an institution and experience.

Always one of the best doner in town. Usually we come here for lunch. Quick, good and fast service. You will eat and done around 30-40 min. Doner is accompanied by salad, french fries and onions and lavas bread which is always cooked on site. We always finish with baklava and Turkish tea.
Tugberk B — Google review
One of the best places to eat döner. It was very delicious and lavas was very good 😋 You can order half portion more if one portion is not enough. Sutlac is highly recommended after doner. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Damla C — Google review
It's time for an update after 6 years. Bayramoglu is still the best döner we've had in Istanbul; and one of the top 4 döner restaurants we've been to in Turkey. We've noticed a slight decrease in the döner side dishes, such as salad, sumac-onion, and french fries. It wasn't as fresh and crisp as it used to be. The lavash was also a bit drier. Considering that we ate it almost 3 years later, we don't know if it was a continuous decrease or a one-time thing. The döner is almost perfect in terms of taste. In fact, 4.5 points would be too little, but 5/5 points would be too much, so we're giving this score to the establishment in the hope that it might motivate it to achieve perfection like in the old days.
Kaim B — Google review
The best Doner Kebap we have had during 12 days in the whole Turkey, they do only Doner, but really well. If you have time, this is a must. The staff are also friendly, efficient. We love meet so 2 people we ordered 6 portions.

OMG !!! Must visit. I am visiting Turkey for the last 7 years, 3 or 4 times yearly. And i thought knew what is the doner 🤦‍♂️ One of the best doners if not the best !! 1000/100 overall experience. 1000/100 food 1000/100 taste WoOoOoW.
Mark Z — Google review
I haven’t tried that many döner places in Turkey, but every time I visit—about once every four years—I make sure to check out at least one. This time, I found Bayramoğlu Döner online, and I have to say, I don’t understand the negative reviews complaining about long waits or cold food. Have you seen the size of this place? It’s massive—and yet the operation is incredibly fast and well-organized. Despite the volume of customers, everything moves like clockwork. As for the döner in lavash, it was honestly one of the best I’ve had in my life. I’m giving it a solid five stars. There’s a reason this place has over 27,000 reviews and still holds such a high rating.

Öz Kilis Kebap and Lahmacun Restaurant is a popular spot in the historical district of Fatih, Istanbul. The restaurant is known for its special kebab varieties and famous lahmacun. Visitors are recommended to try unique dishes like oruk kebab, shiveydiz, lebeniye, and stuffed dried eggplant. This eatery offers an authentic dining experience with high-quality food at affordable prices.
It get's 5 stars for the lovely food. The lahmacun (turkish pizza was one of the best I ate in a long time. We had a side salad and smoked eggplant with yoghurt, delicious and refreshing. The service was okay. I think a little smile would go a long way. It was very very crowded, as wxpected because it is an old restaurant. Overall would definitely advice you to go for delicious turkish pizza.
Zuleyha U — Google review
Super fresh and tasty lahmacun, cooked in front of you quickly. The place was heaving with local families, so took mine out. Very friendly staff, with not that much English but they definitely put up with my terrible Turkish longer than they had to. 100% recommended to make the journey a bit out of town!

Rafael B — Google review
Özkilis Kebap ve Lahmacun: Yearning for Its Glorious Past Once a celebrated establishment among Istanbul’s old-time eateries, Özkilis seems to have lost some of its original charm and the warm, sincere hospitality it was known for. This shift might be attributed to the overwhelming popularity and constant influx of patrons over the years. Despite its famed reputation, the kebaps and lahmacuns served nowadays don’t quite live up to the high praise they once garnered. Having visited the place on several occasions, I’ve consistently found both the service and the food to be lacking. The experience leaves much to be desired, failing to capture the essence of what once made Özkilis a beloved spot in Istanbul’s culinary scene.

A small restaurant that offers one of the best Lahmacun in this area. The inside is not too modern, but it is not bad at all. It's actually very nice and calming. The restaurant also have the status of the top 100 restaurants in Istanbul.

Hatay tava (large size kofte grilled and then simmered with onion on a pan) was fantastic, tavuk shish was just okayish (looks like they cook with red chicken meat). But it looks like locals mostly come for lahmacun

This little cafe in the streets of Fevzipasa is a find. We stumbled upon it, it was busy and the food looked delicious. We ordered Adani kebab, Lahmacun both types and oruk kebab! The food was juicy and authentic! The service was quick and great! The staff spoke some english but enough to understand us.

Doner kebab restaurant
When exploring the vibrant street food scene of Istanbul, a visit to Dönerci Şahin Usta is an absolute must. Nestled near the Beyazit-Cedit Mosque and just outside the bustling Grand Bazaar, this charming little eatery specializes in mouthwatering doner kebabs that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. The cozy space can accommodate only a handful of diners, creating an intimate atmosphere where you can savor their expertly crafted sandwiches made from juicy, tender meats wrapped in soft pita bread.
Dönerci Şahin Usta was slightly on the pricier side for Istanbul, but absolutely worth it. The döner was incredibly flavorful—one of the best I’ve had. Juicy, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked, it’s a must-try spot if you’re craving a quality döner experience
Abdur S — Google review
Was walking around the area and wanted to grab something quick to eat, so found this nice little place and decided to try it out. I had no clue it was quite popular. I went with the basic pita, tomato and onion mix with the meat and Ayran. The food was very nice and I really liked it, even though it was quite pricey for a döner. You can definitely taste the meat and you get your sandwich and go to the room next door to eat it (standing). I didn't have to wait long but a long queue quickly formed behind me. It is all very fast service. For me at that time it was really tasty and very good and ok the price was double what I paid for döner at other places but it was quite tasty and enjoyable. The Ayran is served in a normal glass, so probably made in house. Worth a try I think.
Sam A — Google review
The place is quite small and usually has a long line of people waiting. There are no tables to sit at, and it’s completely self-service. Many people say it’s the most delicious place for gyro (or döner) in Istanbul, but honestly, I think it’s a bit overrated and mainly caters to tourists. The taste is fine — not bad at all — but definitely not as exceptional as the hype suggests. There are plenty of other local restaurants in Istanbul that serve much better and more authentic flavors without the crowd and rush. So overall, it’s worth a try if you’re curious, but don’t expect anything extraordinary.
Ibrahim E — Google review
an absolute must-try when visiting Istanbul. The food is outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The döner is juicy and authentic, truly one of the best in the city. The atmosphere is great, lively and full of local charm, surrounded by a huge variety of nearby shops that make the whole experience even more enjoyable. The staff are quick and friendly, and service is smooth even when it’s busy. It’s a genuine taste of Turkish street food at its best. I’d definitely give it a 5 out of 5 and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Istanbul.
Mohamed K — Google review
I’ll never understand the people who complain about the seating or the queues here!!! Newsflash: it’s a street food joint, not a five-star fine dining experience. Adjust your expectations before you even show up. Yes, it’s messy. Yes, you’ll probably drip sauce on yourself. But that’s the whole point, and honestly, this is easily in my top three döner spots in Istanbul. If you’re wandering around the Grand Bazaar and don’t want to waste an hour sitting somewhere “civilized,” skip the fuss and head straight here. They do one thing: Beef Döner 🌯 and they do it beautifully. 😋
Gino H — Google review
I heard about this place from social media. The guy who served me said 500 lira right away before i even speak. The bread is too thick you cannot even taste the meat . Very simple little meat. Does not have that much flavor. I think it is over priced does not worth that 500 lira. I heard one guy passing by telling the other guy that doner is the most expensive doner in Istanbul. I don't recommend it. I will not come back.
Khaled Z — Google review
The kebab costs 500 TRY, and the salted yogurt drink Ayran costs 70 TRY. Both are delicious and refreshing. There’s usually a long queue after 12 PM, but we went there at 11 AM and only waited briefly. Note that there is no seating area. Everyone stands on the right side of the store, while the left side is for ordering. Definitely worth trying!

Found out about this place on social media and decided to give it a shot. After all it seems to be a popular spot for the iconic Turkish döner. The döner turned out to be mediocre for the price (500 lira in August 2025), and the ajran we pared it with gave us a nasty food poisoning. If you are in the area and find yourself craving for an equally authentic (and cheaper) option I recommend visiting Dürümcü Mustafa around the corner.

Located in a bustling passageway, Şehzade Cağ Kebap is known for its unique method of preparing horizontally cooked kebabs. The chef's Ottoman style and careful approach to cooking over a wood-fired oven add to the experience. The meat, tender and dripping with fat, is served on skewers cut from the horizontal doner, distinguishing it from other kebab places that use vertical cooking methods.
We found this place by accident. My spouse liked how the meat looked on the spit so we sat down, and then the crowds came. Poor guy across the street selling the same thing had zero business, has been in business longer according to their signs, and had his employees sit at the tables to try and draw in business. It didn't work the entire time we were eating. ATMOSPHERE: The tiny restaurant has covered sidewalk seating only and is great for people watching. They're located near the spice market. We did have a peddler with her child come up to the tables asking for money while she played the accordion. MENU: Kebabs! FOOD: Red Bean Lentil Soup It was orange in color and tasted very good. A medium savory with a nice amount of lentils and more soup, not too thick either. Lamb Cag Kebab The cag style of kebab is an old school way of cooking the meat horizontally on the spit rather than vertically. Well it was THE BEST we've had in Istanbul! Super tender and tons of natural flavor. It came with sides of yogurt, spicy couscous and lava, which we made into a burrito and devoured it. SERVICE: All the guys were friendly and food delivery was quick. OVERALL: Excellent food, normal prices. They even won an award on Trip Advisor!

Delicious food and truly authentic vibes. I’ve been here several times and tried other in Hoca Pasa. This one stands out by far. Best flavor, minimal wait, and great service. It’s lively and a bit noisy, but still totally fine for conversation. The energy adds to the charm rather than distracting from it. A place that feels alive without crossing into chaos. Good balance between buzz and comfort.Highly recommended for anyone craving real taste and atmosphere.

Truly a local gem! The çağ kebab here is amazing — tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. The food is not only delicious but also very affordable. We loved it so much we actually came back twice in one day because we couldn’t get enough of that delicious meat! Highly recommend for anyone wanting real local taste in Istanbul.

There was a line by 7pm very popular but moved quite quick. Everyone knows to eat and go. I got 2 portions of the lamb. It was delicious, flavourful and fresh! I could have eaten a 3rd portion. Also people around me got extras. The ingredients are fresh and their spicy condiment is delicious.

was an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, fresh, and full of authentic flavor, making it a real treat for anyone who loves Turkish cuisine. The meat was perfectly grilled, tender, and juicy, served with tasty sides and fresh bread. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. Everything was clean and well presented. Overall, it was a great place to try and I would definitely give it a 5 out of 5 for both food and service.
Mohamed K — Google review
Tucked into a narrow alley just south-west of Sirkeci station, this modest eatery holds a reputation that far outstrips its size. The set-up is simple: a few tables outside, an upstairs and downstairs inside, and one thing only on the menu – cağ kebap. Unlike its more common döner cousin, this Erzurum speciality is roasted horizontally on a spit. From my seat, I could watch the usta carve generous slices, their aroma filling the small dining room and drifting out onto Hocapaşa Sokak. The ritual is as much part of the meal as the food itself. Flatbread, chili paste, crisp salad, and thick buffalo yoghurt arrive alongside the kebap. I did the dürüm thing – layering, rolling, biting in – and suddenly everything made sense. The cool salad checked the heat of the paste, the yoghurt softened the spice, and the kebap itself, tender and perfectly seasoned, sang through it all. I raised my hand for another portion without hesitation. It was a complete harmony of flavour, the kind of meal that makes you stop and simply smile. A perfect 10/10.
Loo Y — Google review
It’s not for everyone. I noticed a few tourists waited in line to be seated but left after looking at the menu — probably because they didn’t find the usual French fries, mayo, or burgers. If that’s what you’re looking for, this restaurant isn’t for you. They only have about 8 or 9 dishes on the menu, and it’s a bit on the expensive side. You’ll also be sharing a table with strangers, which might not appeal to everyone. The food itself was good — the meat was a bit fatty, but still delicious overall.

Spacious restaurant with excellent Döner Kebab and friendly service. They started me off with a refreshing small salad and some pickled vegetables, which was a nice touch. I also had a chickpea soup that was full of flavor. The kebab itself was outstanding—perfectly seasoned meat served with fresh, high-quality flatbread. I had a great lunch at Tatar Salim, and the prices were very reasonable too.

Adana Ocakbasi, located in the Kurtulus neighborhood of Sisli, is renowned as 'the right address for kebab.' The restaurant offers a variety of delectable options including kebabs, appetizers like cacik and eggplant salad with yogurt. Known for its well-balanced use of tail fat and spices in Adana kebab, it also serves other popular dishes such as rib shish kebab and beef shish kebab.
I ordered their signature Adana Kebab, and it was simply outstanding perfectly spiced, juicy, and grilled to perfection. Every bite was packed with wonderful flavors. The salads and appetizers were a nice addition to the meal. Note: The seating is very close to the grill, so expect the aroma of the cooking to linger on your clothes.

DON’T GO 16€ for a simple basic Kebab?? No thank you never again!!! Definetly not worth it. I think they scammin tourists. I never seen a kebab worth 16€ - Pitta bread was hard and crunchy (overheated) not eatable. - Meet was okay, lamb. - one Green Pepper grilled - one grilled tomato 100 meters from them there is much nicer kababe and for 5€ only.
Andrejs S — Google review
In terms of taste, Adana Ocakbaşı is one of my favorite kebab restaurants in Istanbul. Adana kebab and şaşlık are my top choices. The grilled onion and garlic served as meze are also amazing. The boiled içli köfte is very delicious as well, though the portions are a bit small. You need to make a reservation in advance, otherwise it can be hard to find a table. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, it’s a great place overall. I definitely recommend it.

you’re looking for an authentic Turkish grill experience, Adana Ocakbaşı is an absolute gem. The food was nothing short of incredible—local lamb meat grilled to perfection, bursting with flavor. The salads were fresh and vibrant, with the grilled aubergine standing out as a true highlight. Everything tasted homemade and full of love. It’s clear this place prioritizes quality and tradition. One thing to note for tourists: there aren’t any English-speaking staff, but honestly, that adds to the charm. It’s the kind of place locals go to eat real food, and the atmosphere reflects that.

Based on a page about best Turkish restaurants to try, I come across this name. The best item said was “Adana kebab “. So took a cab, reached there. Looking at it —small restaurant. There is family room. Complimentary bread provided. Then did the order for Adana kebab. The bite taken was out of the world—succulent, the flavor—I couldn’t describe it. Had to order another. There are other items in the menu for sure should be really good. But couldn’t try as the Adana Kebab throughly satisfied me. Perhaps next vacation….

Wow! Just wow! Those who wrote bad reviews regarding service, they must understand it’s a very popular local place and sometimes they don’t wanna deal w/ tourists. Our experience was spectacular. Ordered liver, lamb kebab and Adana kebab and every dish was a hit (esp the livers 😎)! Service was overall good and didn’t have any problem. Just one advice, come here super early. Even on Mondays they completely fill up. In all, I’d much rather come here w/ excellent food at good price rather than touristy places.

Karadeniz Döner Asım Usta is a renowned spot in Besiktas, Istanbul, where they serve up a delightful fusion of pide and doner. The homemade pide, thick and soft, provides the perfect base for the thin, juicy slices of doner meat carved from an impressive rotating tower. This popular establishment starts serving this delectable dish at 10:30 a.m., drawing long lines around lunchtime due to its well-deserved reputation.
We came here because of all the reviews. The menu is simple: choose between 100 or 150 grams of meat with either a wrap, rice, or bread. The meat was fresh and juicy. The restaurant is super small, so they direct you to another restaurant to sit for dine-in. It was a bit confusing at first, but they helped us settle and find a table. The service was good. Make sure to get the extra plate of tomatoes, pickles, and onions. I dont know if the locals will get that with their food or they request as well. I saw that on other people's review so that's how we ask and order. They also have a separate dish of just onions and cilantro. If you're an onion lover, I 100% recommend getting that. Meat is always better with onions!

I’ve been eating döner for about 11 years, and this is the only place where the quality has never changed. Asım Usta’s Karadeniz Döner in Beşiktaş is not just a döner shop, it’s one of the few places that truly reflects the spirit of Beşiktaş. The döner here is always juicy, perfectly seasoned, and worth every bite. Even if there’s a long queue, people wait patiently, because they know it will be worth it.

Amazing quality food - the tastiest Kebap meat we had in all of Istanbul. We got placed at a table of a bar across the street which had me worried at first but it’s a clever concept. As there are basically no seats for the kebap restaurant, they cooperate with the surrounding bars and you can sit there, enjoy your kebap while you get the drinks from the bar. The kebap is expensive though but definitely worth trying - after all you’re on holiday right? The staff is also very friendly and we enjoyed ourselves. 10/10 [German tourist, meat lover, fanatic foodie]

I didn't expect our experience to be that bad. The place was so crowded so we thought that food was at least going to be good. To start with, we had to wait to find a table which was okay as it was a vacation. The prices which were a bit expensive compared to other places offering same food. Anyway considering the food, most of it didn't even arrive after even 40 mins so we ordered check and left, they even charged us for the foos which we had to tell them more than 2 times this food didn't even arrive so we aren't supposed to pay for it. The taste is just tastless not to say bad, the portions are small, beyti kebap is with NO CHEESE. Meat plates with less than 50 grams of beef for those prices.. Endless mistakes. The waiter responsible saw how bad things went and apologized one time while we were going. But nothing could fix this bad experience. For those interested the prices were: 50t.l for pide, 72t.l for beyti kebap and other kebaps, 25 t.l for lahmacun. 10 to 15t.l per drink.

I would give no star if it was possible. Been there three times already and in first two visit all I experienced smelly rude waiters and their supervisors or managers. Food is below average and they very offen got confused with orders. Today, we tried midye which is highly suggested by our friend. We had nothing but another frustration. Midye is actually sobiyet. It was very buttery and pistachio on it was very heavy, strong. I must say I tasted some pistachio pieces and doesn't taste pistachio. Their toilets also always dirty with no tissues. The menu is rich with options like etli cig kofte, peanut kebab, and kulbasti. Visitors praise the restaurant for its great taste and reasonable prices. The rooftop dining area offers a stunning view while the attentive staff ensures a memorable experience.
My hotel in Sultanahmet arranged for me a reservation here and took care of my transportation via taxi. Upon my arrival they guided us upstairs to their rooftop. Our server was wonderful - he and all the staff took great care of us and recommended some amazing dishes that I will never forget. To start: Cig Kofte - followed by one very large portion of seasonal salad - along with humus pastirmali (sun dried beef) - wow so good… and I don’t even like humus (…I do now), our entree was antep fistikli kebap (lamb and pistachio) it was simply amazing. There were quite a few smokers so keep that in mind if that bothers you, but the rooftop is retractable and they will open if it’s nice out. Large portion sizes here so sharing is recommended. Turkish restaurant
Kasap Osman is a well-known Istanbul restaurant that specializes in shaved off doner meat, which is then used in sandwiches or turned into Iskender kebab. The meat is cooked slowly over wood fires and served with peppers and tomatoes on flatbread.
Kasap Osman was our favorite restaurant of our stay in Istanbul and we ate here 4x. Adana kebab was absolutely exceptional, very juicy and flavorful. The hygiene standards were very high and we never got sick. The meat portion is very tasty too. Add red chili pepper for additional flavor.

Absolutely food. Real fresh authentic flavours and super fresh…. We had the shawarma wraps, chicken wings and Adana fresh chips. It Was a great find just 5 mins from our hotel. Worth a visit after a long day of shopping.

Great food, lively ambience with a lot of locals and attentive service! We tried the special "Iskender" which is thinly sliced meat in a tomato sauce with yoghurt and butter on the side and it was delicious. We had the eggplant starter and it was very good! The best part of the meal was the rice pudding in the end :)
Aischwi — Google review
Overall very happy with the food, service, and the price was not dire like some spots we visited. To start off, unlike most places, the staff were not trying to drag you in off the street. They actually had civil manners. I had to walk up to them and ask them for a table which was a nice change in Istanbul. The doner was pretty fantastic. Cooked perfectly and sliced thin. They cut their doner square which seems to make so much sense for sheer accuracy. Pricing by grams was refreshing. Seems very open and honest with prices. Only thing I could fault them for was location, but that's purely because Im not a fan of the bustling market vibe to eat my dinner.

The Iskender was definitely the highlight of the meal, a solid 5/5. The meat was tender, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the combination with the yogurt was perfect. Absolutely recommended! The Mixed Kebab Plate, however, didn’t quite live up to expectations. The only really good parts were the doner meat and the Adana kebab. Both well-seasoned and juicy. The other items on the plate were unfortunately not very impressive and fell short in flavor. Overall, a bit disappointing compared to the excellent Iskender. The soup was nothing special a 3/5. Haydari Meze 3/5 If you eat here, stick to the Iskender, Adana kebab, and doner kebab, those are definitely worth ordering. Everything else can be skipped.
Can K — Google review
Excellent donair food. They were able to accommodate 8 of us at two different tables. The service was good, the food was fresh and delicious. Half of us had Iskender, very good, and other Donair plates and wraps. We would definitely come back here to eat again.

We’ve been here a couple of times now and it never disappoints. Amazing, tasteful Turkish cuisine! The service is very nice and quick, you can see they actually care about their business. Highly recommend eating here, you won’t regret is that for sure!😋

The food was okayish and kind of justified the pricing. Good for a quick bite. The chips (french fries) could've been more crispier

Siirt Şeref Buryan1892 is a renowned restaurant located in Istanbul's Fatih district, known for its specialization in Buryan kebab, a traditional dish from southeastern Turkey. The restaurant boasts a long history in the pit-roasted business, dating back to 1892. Their signature dish features slow-roasted lamb cooked in an underground oven, resulting in tender meat with a crispy exterior.
All the food was very tasty! The restaurant looks like a transition between modern and elegant, very beautiful too. We will definitely come back if we pass through Istanbul again.

Arguably the best Turkish dinner I had during my stay in Istanbul! I visited as part of an Evening dining experience organised by Zeynep, a local guide! This goes to show why it's worth booking a food tour! You gain valuable local knowledge on the best places to dine and this ranks not just amongst the best Turkish meals I've had but probably one of my favourite meals anywhere! This was a restaurant frequented by locals and tourists alike and it was awesome eating on one of the upper floors with some stunning views of the area! The restaurant had such a wonderful atmosphere! Whilst I loved the Adana kebab, the Tavuk şiş and the Büryan the real star of the show was the Perdeli pilav (rice, chicken, onion and nuts wrapped in a thin layer of dough and topped with almonds! Absolutely divine!) I would seek out this restaurant again if I ever returned to Istanbul! It was amazing!

Superb food... Try the oven-baked lamb and the rice dishes in all their various forms... Very fair prices!

This is my first ever 5 star rating... By FAR the most amazing place I have been to in Istanbul!!! I am so shocked at how AMAZING the food, service, prices, ambience, all of it was. 100000% recommend if you are looking for a hidden gem, incredible. Wow...!

This place been here since XIX century. The owner is a fifth generation descendant of the founder. We got there with the food tour, and it was 10 out of 10. If you are new to the local food I definitely recommend a tour guide. Don't miss.

Definitely a reason why this place is full of visitors and tourists from around the world!! Crispy skin, tender meat, and melting fat. Some of the best lamb ive ever had in my life. For the price, one of the best values of a meal in Istanbul. A huge restaurant kept very clean. Clean bathrooms. Very friendly staff. Will absolutely return.
Ryan G — Google review
OUTSTANDING!!! I can’t explain how delicious the lamb is! And make sure to order the special rice cooked in a dough, everything is good here!!! They also have a separate floor or women. Staff are friendly and smart, very clean everywhere! Close to the Wednesday market!
Tess W — Google review
I’ve been to this place many times and loved every bit of it! I’ve tried their Urfa and Adana kebabs, as well as both the bone-in and boneless büryan, all absolutely delicious. The büryan, in particular, was incredibly tender and flavorful, perfectly cooked and full of rich taste. The staff are amazing: friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Once, I even forgot my backpack at the restaurant and came back after about 30–40 minutes, they had kept it safe for me! Anyone visiting Istanbul must stop by this place. I bet you’ll want to come back on every trip!

Yeniköy Kaşıbeyaz Bosphorus is a renowned restaurant in Istanbul, offering a stunning view of the historic Bosphorus from its spacious terrace. The menu features traditional Turkish cuisine, including kebabs and meze. Guests can savor mouth-watering dishes while taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Bosphorus bridge. The restaurant's top floor terrace provides an ideal setting for enjoying delicious food and drinks amidst a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The restaurant has a stunning view of the Bosphorus and the seating area is truly beautiful and relaxing. The food is delicious, but quite overpriced for what you get. Service charges are also high, so it feels like you’re mostly paying for the view and the ambiance rather than the meal itself. Worth it for the experience, but not for the value.

We went with the family tonight place was recommended by our limo guy! Red flag to begin, over all place was nice and clean, service was slow and like many people in Turkey the staff has very poor english speaking skills, food was ok and nothing fabulous but the bill was showing, they don’t have very clear pricing on the menu and it’s charged per person per serving, we ordered too much by mistake as the waiter couldn’t tell us what the portion size would be!
M A — Google review
We went for breakfast. Food is below average nothing special. Jam and cream are not fresh. Service is slow but welcoming. Overpriced for what they offer. The view though is beautiful one of the best places with a view.

Just had dinner here and honestly, it wasn’t great. The food didn’t taste good at all and felt kind of bland. Plus, it was super overpriced for what you get. Definitely not coming back.

مطعم يحط لك ضيافة ثم يحسبها عليك بالفاتورة .. complimentary appetizers to your table without any prior explanation or consent. However, when the bill arrives, you discover these “complimentary” appetizers have been charged to your account. When customers object to these unexpected charges, the staff simply responds by saying “this is the restaurant’s policy” - despite never informing customers beforehand that these appetizers would be charged.
Sa A — Google review
Definitely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Waiters were extremely rude and did not want to help us in any way. They did not speak any English, and when they found out we weren’t locals, they refused to serve us. We sat at a table and practically begged someone to take our order but they wouldn’t provide a menu. Wish I could comment about the food but we were served nothing.
Maiz R — Google review
They offer traditional Turkish grills and food. Taste and quality is above average but it is pricey. The seating area by the window overlooking the phosphorous is scenic and romantic. They offer a paid Vale service because it is si hard to find a parking on your own on that area
Bilal S — Google review
Amazing view! The service and food are very good as well. It was disappointing to get the flat bread (pide) served cold, as this is a no for kebab restaurants.I am hoping this was a one time occurrence and not repeated. The “ baz kebap” is worth trying as well as “tandir” if you like lamb.

Çanak Kebap ve Katmer is a large restaurant located in Acibadem, specializing in Turkish cuisine and famous for its local Gaziantep dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of kebabs, including the unique Canak Acili Kebap, which is exclusive to this establishment. With seating for 350 guests and a children's play area, it caters to families as well.
This is the most underrated restaurant in Istanbul with great variety of food options. You could literally choose amoung the Ottoman cuisines that no one ever heard of. Please go to counter and ask what cusines they got that day. Every day there is a surprise. Have one of the soups, all of them good. Have crispy lahmacun, potentially spicy one. Get your main then don't forget to get Katmer with an ice cream. Remember it's big so leave some space for it.
D A — Google review
What a disappointing experience after many years... Uncooked fıstıklı kebap (pistachio kebab) and ali nazik... They did not charge for one of them but it was a big downer. Lahmacun was also not cooked and also was not seasoned properly. The only OK was the soup (yuvalama çorbası). I was looking forward to this after so long and was very sad to see that the quality went down significantly...
Yigit O — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining at Çanak Kebap & Katmer, and I must say, it was an experience to remember. I ordered the Kuzu Tandır, and it was simply outstanding—perfectly slow-cooked, tender, and infused with rich flavors that melted in the mouth. Every bite was a testament to the expertise and tradition behind their cooking. But what truly surprised me was the special bulgur pilavı served alongside. It wasn’t just an ordinary side dish—it was incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, and complemented the lamb beautifully. The balance of textures and spices made it a standout on its own. Beyond the food, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with a service team that was both friendly and attentive. The authenticity of the dishes, combined with the excellent hospitality, made for an exceptional dining experience.
Mohammadreza ( — Google review
✖️Compared to 3 years ago it seems worse. Like everything in Turkey, the prices have exploded, but the portions have shrunk. "Fistik kebap" is good, not exceptional, but the portion is too small. ✖️Service is apprehensive and fast, not so relaxing. I won't come back soon for this food (traditional but less attractive than before) and with these high prices. ✅️ Here there a lot of interesting recipe different from classic "kebap" ✅️"Katmer" it's still great for me (but at double price, it was 8-10€ now is 14€). ✅️They apply a fixed small seating price, Kuverse, and no additional 10%.

One of the best kebab restaurants on the Asian side of Istanbul. It is unlikely that you will leave the restaurant dissatisfied as a result of quality ingredients and the service. On my last visit, I ate fındık lahmacun and içli köfte as starter and beyti as main course and I absolutely loved it.

İskender is a popular dish served at this restaurant, and it's the only main course on the menu. The authentic preparation involves pouring butter sauce over the dish. While some consider it to be good, others believe there are better options in the neighborhood for İskender. The meat quality is high but comes at a steep price. Despite its reputation and reviews, some find it overrated. However, the service is fast and efficient with clean interiors that give off a fancy vibe.
The place offers a fantastic dining experience, especially if you’re a fan of authentic Turkish cuisine. The highlight of the meal, the Iskender kebab, was incredibly delicious—perfectly seasoned with tender meat and a rich, flavorful tomato sauce. The yogurt and pita bread complemented the dish wonderfully. What adds to the experience is the reasonable pricing, which makes the high-quality food even more satisfying. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, offering a comfortable and tidy environment to enjoy your meal. Overall, it is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a true taste of Turkish flavors in a welcoming setting.

The restaurant has been serving for over 150 years. The highlight dish is sliced lamb döner served over pide bread, and topped with tomato sauce and melted sheep's milk butter, and accompanied by creamy yogurt. Leave room for the künefe for dessert, it's worth it. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Fahad A — Google review
Very delicious meat taste and they even add a couple of pieces of julienne cut beef on top which tasted good too. The price is a bit high but the quality of meat was good. The waiters seemed uninterested and bored of the service and they seemed to be bothered that there are customers in the restaurant as if they wanted everyone to leave so that they can relax. I got that feeling from their attitude of service. Anyway, the place itself seems old and they have good chefs who cook good beef. I’d go again for a takeaway order maybe but not to sit there.

Incredible food, but the service could be warmer. The Iskender plate here was absolutely amazing easily the best I’ve ever had. The flavors were rich, the portion was generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is decent, clean and comfortable. The staff were polite, but unfortunately came off as a bit unwelcoming and distant, which took away slightly from the overall experience. Still, for the food alone, it’s definitely worth a visit.

I came here with a bunch of friends because apparently there is some connection to an arbitrary Turkish show of the 90s. I was informed the food would be adequate, and that I should just enjoy being here. Well, as it turns out the food was pretty goddamn tasty. Nestled just a short five-minute stroll from the iconic Galata Tower, Dönerci Engin'in Yeri is a delightful street kebab shop that captures the essence of authentic Turkish cuisine. With its humble setup featuring limited outdoor seating for around 24 guests, this eatery focuses on delivering an exceptional doner experience.
Without a doubt one of the best döner kebabs I’ve eaten. No sauce added. Super delicious with its meat, scallions and sliced tomatoes. I highly recommend the one in pita/pide bread with a cup their homemade ‘ayran’. It’s not a fancy place at all. •Limited seating area (can take up 24 people) •By October 2024, I’ve paid 390 TL for 150 gr döner kebab. (100 gr is 270 TL).
Süleyman E — Google review
The price for ne small döner (150g) is 420tl. The smallest döner I have ever tried and the overrated one. Just one thin slice of tomato and 2g lettuce. The price of each kilo meat is 600tl. The taste is good and a bit salty but for this price you can find better places. IT DOESN’T WORTH IT AT ALL
Sama S — Google review
If the doner is very good, yes If I find it pricey, yes. Especially on the drinks since they have only 20cl bottles or when you order ayran they bring you the smallest glass you ll ever see. If I would try again? Yes *Also, try the Pide instead of the Durum. You ll thank me later.

The döner here is excellent. The place is small with limited seating, but the service is quick and friendly. I tried the dürüm döner, a tasty wrap with Ayran though it’s on the expensive side at 490 lira (£9) but to be expected as it's in a tourist area near Galata. Overall, the food was delicious and definitely worth trying.

Easily the best doner kebab I’ve ever eaten. Succulent, well cooked meat, on a pillowy soft pide cooked on the grill, with some deliciously spicy pickles on the side. Highly recommend.

Dönor Kebap wraps were amazing. Best one I’ve had in Istanbul around Galata tower. It has the most flavorful meat and also used green onions in the wrap. Their side peppers on the table were also flavorful, unlike other places I’ve been to. We went during closing and they started to refrigerate the peppers which I’m appreciative of too. Would definitely come back
Martin K — Google review
This place is pretty new, and it is located on a street leading to Galata Tower so there are huge lines for this döner place usually, and there is a good reason for that. The taste of it is delicious, the meat is already cooked with paprika in it and the bread is crunchy. Highly recommended!

Focused exclusively on Doner in the streets surrounding Galata Tower Dönerci Engin'in Yeri takes up perhaps half a storefront, their rotating spit of Meat yielding good flavor at a fair cost though in comparison to Karadeniz Döner Asım Usta in Beşiktaş the lack of Fresh Bread or quality Produce holds the finished Product back.

If you want a quick bite, then this place isn't bad..my durum was good , it didn't have usual lamb fat taste ,the only complaint was that the lavash part was quite thick , on the whole I would recommend this place for doner and durum.

In çoban salad they put only cucumbers, tomatoes and for some reason PEPPERS. There was neither cheese, nor olives, which were in the pic on the menu. This is quite disappointing to pay full price for a simple veggie salad. Still, döners were tasty.

Umut Ocakbaşı, a long-standing establishment in the heart of Beyoglu since 1976, prides itself on using fresh ingredients sourced daily. The meat is processed using semi-automatic machines before being cooked to perfection. The restaurant offers an array of appetizers, including the popular gavurdagi salad made with fresh tomatoes and cumin-spiced walnuts.
Kebab was pretty good at a reasonable price. Adana kebap definitely had enough tail fat which made in succulent and savory. Mezes were so so. We liked the fava and the one with the pickled beets. We didn’t like the eggplant meze very much. Prices in general are very moderate, and the service is very good. Personnel is very friendly, helpful, punctual and polite. We were treated very well. There are many historic and informative photographs on the walls showcasing old and golden days of Istanbul. Indoor smoking is a bit annoying for us. But, the situation is the same almost everywhere. I believe meze quality can be improved. The restaurant way better mezes in the past. Overall score 4.1/5 for an Ocakbaşı

Wow. What a place. We've never actually eaten here but had food served in the bar opposite, Bonema. Both offer such a great experience if you want authentic Turkish hospitality. The food from Umut Ocakbasi is excellent. We are here twice because the first time was exceptional, the second time was equally wonderful. This is a "must eat" destination.

If I could rate this place 6 stars, it would be getting 7. Attention to detail by the host and his team, friendly service, fresh ingredients, engaging and welcoming atmosphere that had all the ingredients needed to get a true taste of Turkish cuisine without being treated like a tourist. Hands down in my top 5 recommend dining experiences in Istanbul Limited bar, with beer wine and Raki... but the quality of the food makes up for the limited alcohol selection. Full flavour food. Gluten-free food is available

Kilisli Kebapçı Ali Usta is a cozy and unpretentious restaurant in Istanbul, known for its simple yet charming design. Specializing in kebabs from the Kilis region, Ali Usta is praised for his mastery of Middle Eastern flavors.
Truely the best tasting kofta I have ever tried in my life. We had a mixed grill for 4 people. That could feed adults comfortably. The quality of the meat is amazing. The lamb and chicken just melts in your mouth. The free salad is so tasty. I could eat that on its own. But put that in some of the bread with some of the meat and you are in heaven This is a local place, it is not a fancy affair, you don't make a booking, turn up, sit on a plastic table out in the souk and watch the world go by as you eat the most amazing kebabs you will ever try

The Grand Spice Bazaar, located in the historic Eminonu district of Istanbul, offers a vibrant and sensory experience for visitors. This bustling market is filled with exotic aromas and vivid colors, showcasing a wide variety of spices and treats such as saffron and Turkish delight. It's a must-visit destination for those seeking an authentic taste of Istanbul's rich culinary heritage. While it may be crowded, the friendly vendors offer samples of Turkish delight and provide reasonable prices for their goods.
The prices were very reasonable I would say DO buy from here!! the prices are ok and they are much the same or higher in other local places too. Amazing vibrant colours and vendors welcoming with samples of turkish delight. It is rather crowded in the bazaar so be careful of your belongings and family.

Tourists - AVOID this location! I accidentally Ubered here instead of the actual Spice Bazaar and it is simply a store with EXTREMELY pushy salesmen who coerced me to purchase extremely high quantity of items that were incredibly overpriced without asking. They literally started bagging anything I tried to look at and began vacuum sealing everything and print out pricing stickers. Whenever I tried to politely decline a product, they showed disappointment and rudeness. I only agreed to buy 1-2 items to literally get the hell out because I felt borderline unsafe as a solo female traveller, and when I asked to reduce quantity of items, the manager became extremely angry, yelled at me, and told me to get out of his store. Probably the most uncomfortable experience I had in my time visiting Istanbul, period.

This ISN'T the actual spice bazaar like in the pictures. It's just a single store. If you want to go to the actual spice bazaar look up 'egyptian bazaar' or if you are looking for a bazaar with a wider variety of goods look up 'grand bazaar'.

The food was amazing. The highlight of the evening was the tea the young waiter brought at the end of dinner — a wonderful touch that made the experience truly memorable. Two days later, I couldn’t resist coming back, as I had been so well attended on my first visit. I also wanted to check about a card I thought I had lost there. The manager kindly reviewed the camera footage with great attention, and it became clear that I hadn’t lost the card at the restaurant — proving it’s a place of total trust and integrity. During this third visit, I asked the manager if he could help me by preparing smaller portions so that, being alone, I could try a greater variety of dishes — and it turned out to be the best culinary experience! Each dish was outstanding, and the care taken to make my visit special was truly remarkable. This is definitely a place you’ll want to visit more than once

Great place to eat, twice in 3 days. Food and service are excellent. We ordered grilled fish, three different types, chicken wings must have. Overall experience is very positive, make sure you come to the correct restaurant. The one that I’m at, right in a small alleyway.

I really loved the dessert they gave us — it was the best I’ve had in any restaurant! The stew in the clay pot was a bit pricey and the portion was small, but the taste was great. There’s no service charge here, but the total price still isn’t exactly cheap. The service was excellent. I really liked the smiles of the two brothers — we had great conversations over several days. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Turkish Flavors & Heartfelt Hospitality This restaurant was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to Istanbul! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed like family. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but what truly shines here is the food. Every dish we tried was full of flavor, fresh, and prepared with so much care. The traditional Turkish recipes were authentic and unforgettable—easily better than many “fancy” restaurants we’ve visited. You can taste the love and pride in every bite. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect, and the owner personally checked on us to ensure we were happy. That level of attention and genuine hospitality is rare and made us feel so valued. If you’re visiting Istanbul and want incredible food paired with service that comes from the heart, this is an absolute must. We came here because of the reviews, and now we understand why—it truly exceeded every expectation. We’ll be talking about this meal for a long time, and we can’t wait to come back!

Just been to Istanbul for a holiday. We went to this restaurant on our first day and the food was so good we had to make a return before we said goodbye to Istanbul. I love their Ottoman Speciality dish so much, and I wasn't able to find another restaurant offering the same dish (baked aubergine, lamb, mushrooms and cheese). Other recomendation included their Babaganoush, Muhammara. We have seen others ordering their clay pot dishes which came in real fire. We didn't get to try them but they looked piping hot and delicious. Also to mention their complimentary tea at the end of meal was one of the best tea I have tasted in Istanbul.

I wasn’t sure what to think of the place at first cause in Istanbul it’s really hard to differentiate between tourist trap and good restaurant but this place was the latter. Friendly staff, free bread and tea and dessert after the mains and yummy kebab. Our lamb was tasty and not smelly at all. The yoghurt eggplant sauce was great as well. Just the price is a little high IMO. Almost 20€ for the main. In general a good place that I can recommend if you don’t care about the price.

The food was all reasonably priced and tasted so good! All homecooked, and fresh. The service was amazing too. They even gave us a free extra dessert to try that was on the house. I would say the drinks are quite expensive though compared to the food. Def recommend.

This was our first dinner in Istanbul, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. From the moment we walked up we were greeted with warmth, smiles, and courtesy. The service was incredible and the food was amazing. We ordered the Old Ottoman Specialty and Harem Delights- both were flavorful and delicious. What really made it a great experience though was the staff. You can tell they take pride in their food, restaurant, and making sure their customers are happy and having a good time. Definitely go give them a visit!

Çiya Sofrası is a charming restaurant located on the Asian side of Istanbul, offering home-style regional Turkish cuisine. The restaurant spans three floors and features a rooftop terrace for diners to enjoy. Owner-chef Musa Dagdeviren has curated a menu that showcases unique regional dishes from around Turkey, many of which are not commonly found elsewhere. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring specialties like a springtime meat stew cooked with unripe green plums.
Absolutely loved my experience at Çiya Sofrası! The food was incredible - fresh, flavorful, and full of variety - and the service was just as impressive: warm, attentive, and welcoming. I didn’t go during peak hours, which made it even more enjoyable to savor everything at a relaxed pace. Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in Istanbul. Can’t wait to come back!
Mez D — Google review
The food is definitely the best part of Çiya. I found the service to be pleasant for the most part but there was a girl working there who kept smirking and was obviously talking about me in Turkish to her colleague which felt quite unprofessional and immature. It’s great that they serve such a broad range of regional dishes and showcase that Turkish food is about far more than kebabs and pide. I highly recommend the stewed aubergine with tomato, it’s truly gorgeous. Best to go in a group as Turkish food is definitely meant for sharing! Eating alone is not easy when it comes to portions, however they kindly served half portions in my case.
Hannah O — Google review
One of the best Turkish food I’ve had in the last week! The chicken thigh kebab was juicy and yet char grilled with excellent flavours! The lamb casserole in tomato base sauce was soft and tender, the aubergine and minced meat kebab was to die for! They served us complimentary Turkish tea at the end of the meal!

Really great kebab spot! The place is super clean and has a nice atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly, and the food came out fresh. The meat was juicy, tender, and full of flavor — everything was perfect. A bit pricy, but still totally worth it. Definitely recommend if you’re craving good kebabs in Istanbul!

Great spot for Turkish food at a fair price. The menu focuses on classic kebabs and mezes, all made with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions. The laid back outdoor seating makes it perfect for a relaxed meal. I had the Acılı Kıyma Kebap (625 lira) and Ayran (80 lira) not a bad price for a tasty dinner. Highly recommend if you want authentic flavours without spending too much.
Suf — Google review
In my opinion, Çiya Sofrası is one of the best kebap restaurants in Istanbul. It is actually a Gaziantep cuisine restaurant, and inside you can also find delicious traditional dishes from the region. However, I mostly choose it for the kenap. Whenever I have guests visiting from abroad and they want to try a really good kebap, this is the first place that comes to my mind. It is not just a lahmacun and kebap restaurant, but their lahmacun is truly excellent, and their special çiya kebap is also among my top recommendations. If they have the fresh pumpkin dessert (çıtır kabak tatlısı), I definitely suggest trying it too.

Don’t know what the hype is about this place. The only food that’s decent was the soup. We ordered Kofte and lamb with green beans. Only got three tiny pieces of lamb and a whole damn bowl of beans. Paid 450 lira for that bowl of beans 🫠😵‍💫 No thanks.

Mikla is a sophisticated fine dining restaurant located on the rooftop of the Marmara Pera Hotel in Istanbul. The restaurant boasts contemporary styling and offers a tasting menu with a blend of Turkish and Scandinavian influences. The elegant interior features mid-century modern design, while the teak-decked terrace provides stunning panoramic views of the city.
The most special date night at Mikla! We had an unforgettable evening at Mikla. hands down one of the most special date nights we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect: the breathtaking views, the elegant atmosphere, and the incredible food. Each course was beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and presented with so much care. The ambiance set the perfect tone for a romantic night, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Mikla truly delivers a world-class dining experience. We’ll cherish this evening for a long time highly recommended for a romantic night out or a celebration.

Had such an amazing dining experience at Mikla! Loved everything about this restaurant and can easily see why it's been listed on the The World's 50 Best Restaurant for a number of years and hasa Michelin star! The setting: the top of The Marmara Pera (conveniently just went down a floor after a sneaky pre drinks at the rooftop bar). In the midst of jasmine scents accompanied by the refreshing breeze of Galata I take in breathtaking views shimmering in the setting sun where old mosques glow like gold crowns! It's impossible not to feel romanced by Istanbul! The food here is innovatively delish! The menu combines contemporary techniques with traditional Anatolian recipes heroing fresh local produce from every corner of Anatolia to create beautiful dishes reflects the traditions of Anatolia's lands and people. I went with the 3 course a la carte menu and loved everything I ordered! My fave was the Seafood Casserole. The seafood was ocean fresh and the stew was a flavour bomb! 💣😋 Loved the spice kick it had too! The smoked duck was tasty too! Balanced really well with the sourness of the cherry in the salad and the pepper ham and white bean hummus! Desert was quite the sweet treat! Got the Burnt Hazelnut Halva loved the light creaminess of the rice pudding and the refreshing kaffir lime hazelnut sorbet! Was super impressed by the 3 courses of complementary snacks too which really showcased creative modern flair to traditional flavours! 😍

Dining at Mikla in Istanbul was a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience — the kind that stays with you long after the evening ends. As a Michelin-recognized restaurant, expectations were high, but Mikla exceeded every single one of them with grace and brilliance. The moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed into an atmosphere that radiates sophistication and charm. The panoramic view over Istanbul — especially as the sun sets and the city lights begin to sparkle — creates an absolutely magical backdrop. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern luxury and warm intimacy, making it ideal for a special occasion or simply celebrating the joy of great food. Speaking of food — every dish was a masterpiece. The tasting menu was meticulously curated, offering innovative flavors inspired by Anatolian heritage while maintaining a refined, contemporary approach. Each plate looked like art and tasted even better — layered, balanced, and bursting with creativity. You can truly sense the passion and expertise behind every element. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a culinary journey. The wine selection deserves special praise. The list is thoughtfully built, showcasing both exceptional local wines and impressive international labels. With knowledgeable guidance, each pairing elevated the dishes beautifully and added depth to the experience. But what truly made our dinner extraordinary was the impeccable service. Every member of the team was attentive, gracious, and genuinely passionate about what they do. A heartfelt thank you to the tall gentleman with the white beard who took such wonderful care of us throughout the evening. His warm presence, expertise, and personal touches made us feel so welcomed and transformed a superb meal into an unforgettable celebration. Mikla is the definition of fine dining done right — breathtaking atmosphere, extraordinary cuisine, exceptional wine, and world-class hospitality. It is without question one of the best dining experiences in Istanbul, and we cannot wait to return. For those seeking something truly special, Mikla is an absolute must!

There is so much to like about this restaurant. For starters the view and the decor is amazing. In addition to the dining room, there is a rooftop open air bar with stunning views of the city. We had the three course à la carte menu and all of the dishes were very creative and exquisite tasting. The presentation and the service is exactly what you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant.

Absolutely fabulous. The food highlight of our trip. Beautiful facility. Staff was top notch - attentive, friendly, generous. We did the tasting menu with paired wines. Loved the Turkish wines, especially the Prestige Kavaklidere Okuzgozu, a rich, deep Turkish red comparable to any great cab you've had. The kitchen must have sent out 4-5 extra dishes to taste in addition to the 7 courses. Truly made for a wonderful evening.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends at Mikla. The food was delicious, service fantastic and the atmosphere overall very welcoming. On top you get stunning views from the terrace, and even better, from the rooftop bar. When I come back to Istanbul, I will come back to Mikla - for sure!

I recently had the tasting menu at the restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The Slow Cooked Beef Short Rib was particularly delectable, with its tender and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The Bolet Mushroom was also flavorful and creamy. The service was exceptional, and the city views were breathtaking. I highly recommend the tasting menu to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

I recently had lunch at Fuego on June 13, 2025, and it was an outstanding experience. We ordered two appetizers, both of which were extremely tasty and came with delightfully inflated bread. The flavors were impeccable, making each bite a delight. The service was very good, adding to the overall positive dining experience. I highly recommend Fuego to anyone looking for a great meal. I’d rate it 5 out of 5 stars!

I have eaten here many times on my trip to Istanbul. The service, food, and atmosphere are bar none. They treat you like family - Omer and Heybet are especially charming! The chicken Shepherd Kebab and the Cheese Pita (try to aubergine dip) are personal favorites.

Absolutely love this place! The manager was very friendly and polite, as well as the staff. The food was very delicious and at reasonable prices. This adorable sign welcomes you as you sit down at your table. We went there for lunch but we liked it so much we came back for dinner as well. The place also offers plenty of good vegetarian options, which is rare for Istanbul. So, next time you are visiting Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque choose “Fuego” for you well deserved lunch break.

Turkish restaurant
Cafe Privato Restaurant is a rustic-chic dining option located near the historic Galata Tower, offering traditional Turkish cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is known for serving a sensational Turkish breakfast spread with an abundance of fresh ingredients including tomatoes, olives, cheeses, and homemade jams. Additionally, it offers sizzling eggs, grilled sucuk sausage, and an array of savory and sweet pastries.
Visited in August 2025. Turkey 🇹🇷 Istanbul. Cafe Privato Restaurant is a charming little eatery with a delightful terrace, apparently linked to a hotel. We chose it inspired by glowing reviews and the appeal of options beyond the standard Turkish breakfast. FOOD: Among the choices is the Turkish breakfast, but unlike many spots in Istanbul where they either force you to order two portions or list the price straight for a pair (which frustrates plenty of reviewers), here you can simply get it for one. So we opted for a single Turkish breakfast and a plain omelet. The Turkish breakfast was wonderfully fresh and flavorful, brimming with assorted baked treats—those fluffy pancakes were a highlight—along with veggies, fresh cheeses, savory spreads, and eggs; all in all, a beautifully diverse and satisfying spread for a hearty morning meal. The omelet was prepared flawlessly, striking the ideal balance—not too runny or overly dry—with a smooth, inviting texture. SERVICE: The service was exceptionally warm and welcoming; our waiter spoke fluent Russian and guided us thoughtfully through the menu, even graciously preparing the plain omelet that wasn’t originally listed. VERDICT: An excellent restaurant boasting a picturesque terrace ideal for basking in sunny weather. The food was truly delicious, with prices a shade above average compared to other places, yet we thoroughly savored the meal and ambiance—the option for an individual breakfast is a standout perk.

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant. The staff and manager were SO kind, the food was incredible, and we liked it so much that we came *three* times during our four day visit. I will NEVER stop thinking about the lentil soup, not was incredible and I would love the recipe 😍 The Turkish breakfast was also amazing.

We were recommended to try their turkish breakfast and were glad we did. As the picture speaks for itself, the portion for 2 could easily feed 3-4 people. The spread itself was great, a variety of fresh produce and simple yet tasty condiments. Even better, the window seats gives you a nice view of Galata tower. Price is reasonable and the restaurant is spacious if you're going in a large group. This was easily the best turkish breakfast we had in Istanbul.

We really liked this cute little place and its casual vibe. No pressure service, located on breezy street with shades if u r trying to hide from the sun while u eat - let's call it a "shabby chic" place 😉 We ordered Turkish breakfast for 1 and it was enough for both of us Try their fresh squeezed juices Definitely stop by

We just finished our very first Turkish breakfast at Privato Café, and it was absolutely exquisite. A generous spread of meze, a variety of cheeses, beautiful olives, rich honeys, mini pancakes, and perfectly prepared eggs — each bite was a delight. We sat at one of the charming pavement-side tables, sipping tea and watching the rhythm of life unfold in the Galata streets. Warm, authentic, and unpretentiously beautiful — a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience traditional Turkish hospitality at its best.

Antiochia is a popular restaurant located in the heart of Beyoglu, serving dishes from Antakya, also known as Antioch in ancient times. The restaurant's decor reflects the Roman mosaics of the region. Specializing in Southeast Turkish cuisine with influences from Lebanese, Syrian, and French flavors, it offers a variety of cold and hot mezes and kebab dishes.
Really good place overall. Great staff, they gave us table without reservation just adapting our stay. The food amazing, what a tasty food, espectacular flavors. Good recommendation from the staff helping us to select good dishes. The place is cozy and elegant. Highly recommended, but much better if you make a reservation before going there. It is located in a very popular area plenty of bars for drink, full of people enjoying life. A must go definitely.

Having found a long standing review from the Guardian, my wife and I ventured to what we thought would be a nice Turkish dining experience. What we got was food that came quickly with all mezes all prepared on the plate. The meat, which tasted good, was not hot which is what you expect. What was more shocking was the price. We spent £83 for a deconstructed kebab where we had one glass of wine and one beer 450tl. The 10% service charge seemed rather extravagant for what we got. People were nice but would say that venture here if you want to be over charged. Upon reflection very dissappointing. These are uk prices in Istanbul.

We loved this place so much during our visit to Istanbul that we went twice. It’s a beautiful reprieve from the traffic on the streets below and looks down over charming cobble stone alleys. The food is fresh, served fast, and is so flavorful. They have a vegan wrap with vegan protein which was a lifesaver for me. It’s delicious. My partner had the chicken kebabs and thought they were equally delicious.

This was one of three top-notch consecutive dinners in Istanbul and the most traditional Turkish food of the three. Antiochia is right smack in the middle of the very popular Beyoglu, just 5 minutes by foot from the tunnel station. The restaurant is casual yet nice, and the vibe is lively. The service was fantastic, and the food...delicious. I went with the lamb chops and added a couple of mezze. Everything was tasty, and I would definitely recommend it.

Atmosphere is serene, space is beautifully and authentically decorated, dishes we tried were all very delicious. Great spot very close to Istiklal yet away from the crowds!
Mert T — Google review
Visited April 2017 - Tucked just behind Tünel’s upper station, Antiochia takes its name and mission from Antakya – the ancient city of Antioch – a region where cuisines and cultures have met for centuries. The mural at the entrance sets the scene: Hatay as a crossroads of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim heritage, expressed here through food. The setting is modern warehouse chic, with exposed brick, an open kitchen, and a lively mix of local and international diners. Staff are attentive without fuss, and they found me – a solo traveller – a cosy corner to take it all in. I ordered the Antiochia lamb chops, marinated with the region’s signature hot pepper paste. They arrived just shy of perfection – juicy, well seasoned, though a touch more char would have sealed the deal. The plate came with four meze that spoke of place: smoky abagannuç, smooth hummus, olives lifted with mountain thyme, and a striking walnut and red pepper purée. Each was well made, with the muhammara in particular carrying the essence of the region. Yet the standout was the unassuming “sauced bread” – biberli ekmek – a thin flatbread griddled with red pepper and oil. Simple, bold, and unforgettable.

Tuğra Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its historical ambiance and waterfront terrace. Located on the top floor of the Ciragan Palace at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski hotel, it provides a glimpse into the culinary world of the Ottoman Empire. The restaurant's majestic atmosphere is complemented by stunning views of the Bosphorus. Diners can savor dishes inspired by the cuisine of Ottoman Sultans while surrounded by marble columns and intricate paintings.
A culinary journey at Tuğra Restaurant As part of our stay at the Ciragan Palace, we had the pleasure of dining at Tuğra Restaurant—an experience that was as memorable as the palace itself. The seven-course tasting menu was a refined and imaginative interpretation of Turkish cuisine, masterfully balancing tradition and innovation in each dish. Every course felt carefully considered and perfectly executed. The presentation was elegant and thought through. Service at Tuğra was impeccable—professional, knowledgeable, and delivered with genuine warmth. The setting, with its regal ambiance and views over the Bosphorus, created a truly special atmosphere. Dining in such a historic and beautiful location made the evening feel even more extraordinary. Tuğra is without question among the finest restaurants we’ve visited in Istanbul. It certainly wouldn’t be out of place among Michelin-starred venues. An unforgettable evening of culinary excellence. Highly recommended.

Exceptional restaurant within a palace. You had me at palace. The attentiveness of the staff was otherworldly, but the tasting menu, catered to vegetarian dishes was mildly lack luster. There was no difference in price for the veggie minded enthusiasts which was disappointing. The chef did go beyond in trying to remedy the already fixed menu though. Each portion was artfully presented and enjoyed. Overall the atmosphere was mildly stuffy. It’s an exceptionally beautiful space and we were lucky to have a stunning view of the Bosporus. Other tasting menus blew this one out of the park though, hence the missing star. But if you are looking for the experience and the impeccable history of the establishment.

Tuğra Restaurant, Istanbul, Turkey. A refined restaurant with a waterfront terrace In the historical Çırağa Palace hotel. Tuğra presents Turkish cuisine in an elegant fine-dining experience. The dining hall is grand and impressive featuring marble columns and high ceilings. There is a choice of set menu and à la carte. The appetizers and the mains were very good. The desserts on the other side were not successful; too sweet and lacked balance. Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5/5 Average PPP TRY 8500

An unforgettable experience in a stunning setting. The food at Tuğra was refined, flavorful, and clearly prepared with great care. The service was outstanding from start to finish – attentive, friendly, and professional. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, with a unique atmosphere and a breathtaking view that adds to the entire experience. One small downside: after an extensive (and pricey) meal, they charge €10 for a cup of tea or coffee. In a restaurant of this level, you would expect that to be complimentary or offered as a gesture of hospitality. It feels a bit out of place in such a luxurious environment. That said, it’s definitely worth a visit and highly recommended for anyone looking for a special culinary evening in Istanbul.

This restaurant is inside a breathtaking palace. The location and the experience there are totally worthy of the price tag. The service, ambiance, staff, music, and privacy of each table, all of it is perfect. The food itself has a high quality of products. However, the flavors were too far from my preferred palette. So I couldn't really eat and enjoy the taste of the food (signature lamb dish). I understand that's a personal preference. Just for the experience, I totally recommend it.

Nestled in the historic Pera district, Aheste is a charming eatery that beautifully marries industrial aesthetics with culinary creativity. This modern Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurant specializes in meze-style dining, offering an enticing tasting menu that showcases the chef's innovative approach to traditional dishes. The intimate atmosphere, characterized by close-set tables and exposed brick walls, invites diners to enjoy not only exquisite food but also thoughtfully crafted cocktails.
Aheste is an incredible spot in Istanbul — perfect for both a romantic date night or a fun group dinner! The food was outstanding from start to finish — every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were awesome, super accommodating with our group’s different tastes and requests, and made the whole evening effortless and fun. We enjoyed some great cocktails and discovered a few fantastic local wines along the way. A must-visit for anyone who loves amazing food, warm hospitality, and a great vibe! 🍷✨
Sean G — Google review
I was in Istanbul for a vacation and as soon as I started planning places to eat Aheste was at the top of my list — I’d read great things. The restaurant sits on Meşrutiyet Caddesi in Asmalı Mescit, Beyoğlu, in a street already filled with classy, beautifully designed places that make you want to wander by just to soak in the atmosphere. Knowing how popular it is, we made a reservation almost a month in advance. When the night came, we arrived and were seated quickly — no long wait, which immediately set the tone. The servers were wonderful: humble, warm, very attentive, and clearly knowledgeable about the menu and drinks — helpful when you want to try something off the beaten path. We kicked things off with drinks: “The Old Nutcracker” and “Callisto.” They were decent. I thought the Nutcracker was like an Old Fashioned but with a lighter touch of alcohol — enough to feel something, but not overwhelming. Callisto had its charm too, though it wasn’t quite as memorable as the Nutcracker for me. Everything at Aheste is sharable, which works well for trying lots of different things. To start, we had the dudi Persian rice and the artichoke confit. The artichoke confit was surprisingly good — rich, flavorful and well executed. The rice was okay; pleasant, but not outstanding, a little underwhelming compared to what else came. After that we tried the tuna kadayıf and stuffed zucchini flowers. The tuna kadayıf was excellent — really a highlight. The tuna itself was probably the best bite of the evening. The zucchini flowers were nice, delicate and charming, though not as strong in impact as the tuna. We were disappointed to learn that the main course we anticipated — the lamb shoulders — were out that evening. That was a shame, because it had been something I was looking forward to. Instead, we pivoted to dessert: a classic rice pudding and rounded off the meal with a digestif, Amaretto. Both were very good — the rice pudding felt comfortingly traditional, the amaretto was a smooth, fitting end to the meal. Overall, Aheste was very good. Service, food, ambiance — all near the top. It didn’t feel perfect in every single dish (some were stronger than others), but the strengths far outweighed the small misses. If I were back in Istanbul, I’d definitely go again, and I’d recommend it to friends looking for something special but not stuffy.
Nuhn B — Google review
As a vegetarian, I often struggle to find meals that feel both authentic and exciting when traveling — but Aheste delivered on both counts. While not a vegetarian restaurant, they offer a separate vegetarian tasting menu with over 10 beautifully crafted Turkish dishes. Every course was creative, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The service was excellent — professional, English-friendly, and very knowledgeable about both the food and wine. We had a local Turkish wine recommended by our waiter, which paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere was quiet, cosy, and welcoming, a peaceful escape from the busy streets outside. Great value for a memorable dining experience!

Honest take on a popular spot in Istanbul Aheste – Istanbul The restaurant was packed, yet the service was kind and attentive. The sea bream was well cooked, but the mix of flavors with the Turkish risotto and charred leek leaf didn’t quite work for me. Some dishes I wanted to try couldn’t be prepared without alcohol, which was a bit disappointing. I skipped dessert since there were only two options — rice pudding and baklava — both of which seemed a bit too heavy for me. I appreciate the effort and atmosphere, but I don’t think I’d return. Please note, 1. Dishes tend to sell out, I heard the waiters repeating sold out to customers for many dishes! 2. No parking. Overall rating 2/10 Overall 2/10

From start to finish, the experience was absolutely incredible. The waitstaff were warm, attentive, and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, enhancing every moment of the evening. The cocktails were not only delicious but also beautifully presented—each one a visual and flavorful delight. The wine list was expansive, featuring a diverse selection of international labels that catered to every palate. The food itself was a masterpiece: artfully plated and bursting with flavor. Each dish delivered on its promise, matching the excitement and creativity suggested by the presentation. The ambiance was intimate and romantic, making it the perfect setting for a memorable night out. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in fine dining, this place delivers on every front.

Aheste was the best dining experience of a two week trip through Greece and Türkiye. This well styled restaurant offers up a modern twist to Turkish cuisine and pairs it with great wines or cocktails. The design is simple and pleasing with a nice dark atmosphere and welcoming and helpful staff. The moment we walked in, they took care of us. Dishes and wines were recommended and taken. A wonderful tuna appetizer was the star of the show and the Zucchini Flowers were excellent. The Roast Lamb Shoulder was outstanding. They also have some small Turkish wines that make the meal. Looking for a special place to celebrate or just for an elevated dining experience, this is your place.

Nestled in the vibrant district of Karaköy, Ali Ocakbaşı Karaköy is a delightful Turkish eatery that beautifully embodies the rich culture and values of Istanbul. With breathtaking views of the Bosphorus and Golden Horn, dining here feels like an honor as you savor expertly grilled kebabs cooked over a wood fire, infusing each dish with an irresistible aroma.

The food was incredible. I had chicken. They put a bit too little veggies in my opinion for the price, but chicken was cooked to perfection. The staff was quite rude and kept walking around the room, even though I was the only person there, which was a bit annoying. They tried to pour me water, which I didn’t ask for and without asking me if I want it, to charge me later. That was a big no-no. They should always ask beforehand. Overall experience was good. Will be even better if they replace their staff or train them well. Also, keep in mind, it can get quite hot during lunch time, since they keep their windows open to see stunning view.

We had a nice dinner here overall. There was a bit of confusion with our reservation at first but the staff sorted it out and gave us a rooftop table, which ended up being perfect. The view over Istanbul and the Bosphorus at sunset was absolutely beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive enough. The food was tasty and came out quickly. The starters were great (would recommend the Abagannus), and both the chicken shish and lamb chops were good too, though the portions could’ve been a bit bigger for the price. Drinks were on the expensive side, though I suppose this is to be expected considering the location. The place does seem to aim for a higher-end experience, but the decor and little details (like paper napkins and fairly simple furnishings) didn’t quite match that expectation. Worth it for the view if you’re celebrating or want a nice dinner spot.

Went for dinner with my friends. The location was amazing and the view was majestic. You can see the blue mosque and cruises on the water far away. The food was amazing. The kebabs, bread and sides were great. The quantity was good. The goat milk ice-cream and the desserts were good as well. Overall worth the money spent.

WOW! They are serious about both their food and their service. This is one of the top restaurants we tried between Istanbul and Cappadocia. Had the Girit Ezme (cheese and pine nuts) cold starter, salad, pide, chicken and beyti kebaps and everything was cooked and spiced well. The texture of the kebaps and the smoky smells were perfected. We came in without a reservation around 6:20pm and were almost turned away because the restaurant was fully booked starting from 7 pm, but they seated us and we ate quickly. Would highly recommend reserving a few days in advance as this is a very popular place for a good reason. We saw large business groups there. Emrah was amazing! The staff showed us wonderful hospitality. We are traveling for food inspiration and this was a great lunch stop on our journey. The food was fresh and delicious. We had a great bottle of wine to compliment our meal and you can’t beat the views!

Overrated and overpriced restaurant. The food itself was very good though. The waiter tried to bring us his overpriced meze plater at the beginning. One Icli Köfte costed around 4€, a glass of wine 19€. The restaurant has a beautiful scenery over the Galata Bridge but the ambiente itself is boring and loud. The stairway to the restaurant is creepy.

Perched atop the Lady Diana Hotel in Fatih, GRACE Rooftop Restaurant offers unparalleled views of the Marmara Sea and cityscape. With two levels, including a glass-encased floor for colder months and an open-air terrace, diners can enjoy stunning vistas of the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque while indulging in a diverse menu of international cuisine and local wines.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Grace Rooftop! As a couple, this was one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Istanbul. The ambiance was perfect, with a stunning rooftop view that added to the whole experience. The food was incredible — starting with a delicious appetizer that really set the tone. Every main course we tried was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. After dinner, we enjoyed some cocktails which were just as impressive. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening. It’s rare to find a place where everything — food, drinks, atmosphere, and service — hits the mark. Highly recommended. Grace Rooftop is a 10/10 and an absolute must-visit in Istanbul!

I had a very wonderful evening at this rooftop bar. The drinks were carefully curated to my alcohol tolerance levels. The waiters and Waitresses were absolutely phenomenal. Best of all, the view of the city's landscape was marvelous especially during twilight. A must visit in Istanbul.

What a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, everything just felt right. The food was delicious: every dish perfectly prepared and presented with great care and flavor. The view was absolutely phenomenal. But what truly made the evening special were the waiters: incredibly friendly and attentive. A special mention for our waiter Furkan: his professionalism and attention to detail made the evening unforgettable. A restaurant where everything comes together: food, ambiance, and service. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be coming back!

The view was breathtaking. And the food was mouthwatering delicious. My 5 year old soon announced “100 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”. A DO NOT MISS restaurant overlooking the mosques. Aysegül was wonderful. Her interaction with our family was genuine.

Grace Rooftop was an amazing experience. The view alone is worth the visit, a perfect 360° panorama of the old city and sea. The food was fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were surprisingly good for a rooftop spot. The ambience is calm and elegant, with great music and a warm atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. Service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and fast without being pushy. Everything from the welcome to the final check felt professional. Overall, one of the best rooftop experiences I’ve had in Istanbul. Highly recommend for sunset, photos, and a relaxed evening.

This place is amazing, spectacular view, delicious food and drinks, great prices. My hotels rooftop was closed for repairs so this restaurant turned out to be right behind and exceeded y expectations. Plus they have a terrace for an amazing view.

It's an expensive restaurant but with great experience. Food, ambience, views are all amazing. Located at the back of Sultan Ahmet area, you sit on the rooftop with Hagia Sophia and blue mosque lit in front of you which make your experience stand out than any other place around. Rooftop is covered, so in winter you don't have to worry about getting cold. However, from budget viewpoint, it's very much on the upper side.

Turkish restaurant
Metet Közde Döner in Kuzguncuk is a popular Turkish restaurant known for its generous kebab and rice dishes. The establishment offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor area providing a picturesque view of Kuzguncuk street. The staff are friendly and provide efficient service. While the Iskender kebab is highly recommended, visitors should be aware that it can be a bit greasy.
One of the excellent Turkish Döner restaurants in Uskudar area. The meat is made perfect in different dishes mainly Kozde Doner and Iskender kebab. Green salad is well prepared along with the excellent yoghurt and Ayran drink... Staff is friendly and welcoming. Prices are very fair.

I am very disappointed with the service. The staff member who served us was laughing in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner, which made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in your restaurant. We kindly request a formal apology and an explanation of what happened, as such behavior is not acceptable from a place with a good reputation like yours.
Salah M — Google review
Metet are the best in Istanbul to serve iskandar, as we tried many other places. they served it with fresh farm yogurt, salad and pickles. The restaurant is busy so we had our take away to near by beach front chairs with amazing views. highly recommended.
Talal S — Google review
We had such a great experience at Metet in Istanbul! We ordered a lot of food, and everything was delicious. The dishes came out very quickly, yet the quality was excellent. One of the highlights is that they make their own yogurt, which adds such a fresh and unique taste to the plates. The flavors were authentic and really stood out. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you want tasty food, fast service, and something special.

The food was delicious, and the service was warm and friendly. The staff took great care of us and made sure we had a pleasant experience. ⭐ 5 Stars Baran Et Mangal – Grilled Meats I visited this restaurant once and had an excellent experience. The quality and taste of the grilled meats are outstanding, the place is clean and the service is very good. Everything was great except for the prices, which are a bit high, and a slight delay in serving the food (probably due to the restaurant being busy). Bottom line: A wonderful experience – I highly recommend it for anyone who loves grilled food.

Found this place from reddit when I was searching for a local place to have turkish Kebab. Overall the food and quality was good. One problem with turkish kebab is that is way too salty for many people’s taste. Especially for my dad that has blood pressure and tries to stay away from too much salt. They brought complimentary salad to your table to have with kebab. One good thing was that they had English menu and the waiter could take your order in English. Something that you don’t see much in turkey. The lamb chops were good. The kebab itself was way too fatty for me. Overall good quality

Don’t be discouraged by the average reviews! We visited this restaurant based on Anthony Bourdain’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint. They offer complimentary meze (Turkish appetizers with bread) with any main course, and the bread is absolutely amazing—freshly made, soft, and fluffy. I also loved the Adana Kebap and Ayran. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, delicious Turkish food at great value.

Tried this place twice in my recent trip. The place is very local and has a simple interior a bit worn down. The mezze come with all meals as well as fresh hot bread which is delicious. The meat and chicken were good and fresh with flavor. The cig kofte was delicious and spicy. The prices are relatively cheap to the amount of good food offered and in comparison to Istanbul prices. Would recommend for a local experience. Ps: the seagulls watch you as you eat its scary at first but funny at the same time 🤣.

One of the best restaurants in Istanbul good food, good service, honest prices (which is rare in this country) we got the salads for free (again rare to get something for free here) the food tasted so delicious and authentic. Definitely recommend

The amount of meat i had the first time was good portion but this time very little. The waiter also very rude and sketchy. They made us pay 50lira more just to round up the bill. And we didn’t even finish drinking our tea yet but the waiters seem restless to kick us out, that was quite rude. Im not coming here ever again.
Nuranis N — Google review
We ordered a mixed grill and a pan dish. The grill was good, but the pan portion was very small. We asked for a second salad, but no one responded until later, when we were told it would cost extra. This should have been communicated earlier. Unfortunately, the staff seemed indifferent, showing little care for customer satisfaction. I wouldn't recommend this place for service.
Furkan B — Google review
That’s not my first time here. I’ve been here before. It was delicious, service was awesome. But this time was terrible. And the problem was that i brought here my guests cuz I’d been talking about this place. Almost 30 mins later they served us. Plate was cold, fat was frozen on the plate. And what, they brought our beverages after we finished our plates. The main problem was they served every guests arrived after us. They even bothered themselves for an apology. Not it’s overrated place compare to before.
Ozgun S — Google review
This place was highly recommended by one of the dearest person in my life. That is why I tried it but probably I wouldn’t go again. First of all, the place is lacking from hygiene. We ordered Sur Kebap for 3 people and the portion was big enough for 4 people. I have ate way better kebaps than this. The bread was freshly cooked which was tasty. Then we ordered their famous Sur desert which is made with Semolina, raw gum and ice cream. It was definitely different but I cannot say was delicious. Prices are average compared to other places.

Tatbak is a renowned Turkish restaurant that first opened its doors in 1960 in Nisantasi, Istanbul. It has since expanded into a chain with multiple locations across the city. Despite its popularity, some consider it overrated and not living up to the hype of being featured in the Michelin Guide. The restaurant offers traditional Turkish dishes such as lahmacun and Icli kofte, which are worth trying despite mixed reviews.
The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced and delicious. The staff were clean, kind, polite, and very welcoming. A great experience to try high-quality and tasty Turkish food.

A true Turkish food place to enjoy the original flavours. Outstanding service and great prices. Best lahmacun (Turkish pizza) and excellent desserts. Must go place if you want to avoid tourist traps 😂
Kayman — Google review
I visited a restaurant known for having earned Michelin stars and for serving the famous "Turkish pizza" lahmacun. Unfortunately, I was met with a big disappointment. The lahmacun was nothing special—I’ve had much better at other places, and the price of 220 TL for this dish was excessive. I understand that a Michelin star increases the price, but at least maintain consistency in both quality and flavor that justifies the star. As for the soup, they only had one option (Ezogelin), and they offered only one dessert (Kadayif). The food selection is very limited, so don’t expect anything extraordinary from this restaurant.

S A — Google review
Tatbak is one of Nişantaşı’s most iconic restaurants — a true Istanbul classic that has been serving perfectly made lahmacun and kebabs for decades. It’s a place where tradition and consistency meet, and every visit feels like a return to something familiar and genuinely good. The lahmacun is simply outstanding — thin, crispy, flavorful, and balanced in every bite. The meat quality and seasoning are spot on, and when paired with their fresh parsley, lemon, and a glass of ayran, it’s pure perfection. The pide and kebabs are also excellent, each prepared with care and true mastery. Service is fast, professional, and warm without ever feeling overbearing. The staff know their craft and the rhythm of the place perfectly — everything runs like clockwork. The setting is clean, comfortable, and timeless, carrying that old-school charm that never tries too hard to impress but always delivers. Tatbak isn’t just a restaurant; it’s part of Istanbul’s culinary heritage. Simple, consistent, and delicious — proof that when something is done right, it never goes out of style.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants we have visited together over the past few years! Incredibly designed place tucked away up a staircase up an elevator and up another staircase. Once you’re to the top you’re surrounded by absolute beauty, a friendly staff, and world class food. Can’t say enough good things about the mushroom/potato appetizer, the grilled sea bass, and the loin/meatball entree...can’t wait to go back
Executive T — Google review
Very poor experience! I highly advise against it. We went there for New Year's, and we paid 100€/ adult and 75€/ child, including a 5 years old. The menu promised included 4 courses: an appetiser, shrimps with some sauce, a pastry and a main course + New Year's special dessert, and unlimited soft and alcoholic drinks. We got an appetiser with 5 spoons of different dishes, one pastry they put with a claw on each plate, the shrimps were half of baby shrimp for each person and the main course which was a piece of overcooked meat with some bad sauce and a lot of rice. The special desert was a small pastry filled with halva. The unlimited drinks were wine, vodka tonic, gin tonic, still and sparkling water, lipton ice tea, and Sprite. They ran out of tonic, wine, and sparkling water by 11:00 PM and tried to charge us for extra wine and sparkling water. At midnight, they gave us a bottle of proseco for 15 people and tried to charge us 300€ for it, even if it was included. All though there were plenty of English speaking waiters, we got one that couldn't understand one word of English. We gave him a tip of 100 €, and at the end, another waiter who was drunk and had nothing to do with our table came begging for money and cigarettes. For entertainment, there was a belly dancer who wouldn't leave until all the men paid her

The starters we got were delicious yet they did forget one. We got the mixed grilled meats, steak was cold and over cooked but rest were really good. Most of the cocktails on the menu and the whiskeys they did not have and the wine they served us was burnt. And service was rushed and pretty poor. View was amazing!! Also worth noting it is not in this location that it shows on google maps. It is up the hill.

Leb-i Derya offers one of the most spectacular Bosphorus views in Istanbul. But the building is very old.. Be careful.. Perched high above the city, it’s the kind of restaurant where dinner feels like an experience — the skyline, the lights, and the water create a setting that’s hard to forget. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, capturing the essence of modern Istanbul dining. The menu balances seafood, meze, and meat dishes with refined simplicity. The sea bass ceviche and grilled octopus are standout plates, and the cocktails are crafted with care. Service is polished and friendly, though it can slow down a little during peak hours. Perfect for a romantic dinner or for hosting visitors who want to see Istanbul at its best. Tip: Arrive just before sunset to catch the golden light over the Bosphorus — it’s the moment when the restaurant feels truly magical. Reservations are highly recommended.

Really wanted to like this place. Sadly the food was overpriced and bad. I ordered the Seafood Pasta. It was so overcooked the noodles tasted like instant noodles. The prawns were the frozen type and the squid was not fresh at all. I didn't finish my main meal. And what was most upsetting was that there were barely any ingredients in a dish that cost over 400 turkish lira. Furthermore, the cover charge was 95 Lira per pax but the bread served was stale. The service charge was a mandatory 10% even though the service was just okay. They were welcoming and polite but clearly didn't care how poor the quality of the food was. The only thing that was nice was the view. But with a couple smoking right next to the window it was not a great place to sit either. The music - some Turkish dance pop - was way too loud and didn't have the right vibe. They were trying to make it more of a place to drink than eat somehow which doesn't seem right. The building itself was old. To get to the top you need to take the lift / stairs but the lift wasn't working and the lights were off. Imagine going down stairs in darkness. Overall it was a huge disappointment and unfortunately I would not recommend anyone to come here. Save your wallet and stomach the hassle and avoid this place ! You'll feel better for it.
Liyin S — Google review
Absolute disaster – avoid at all costs! We came to what looked like a promising restaurant with a beautiful view, but the experience was appalling from start to finish. The entire place was run by one single person – the cook, the barman, the DJ, the waiter – all in one. We were the only customers, and it quickly became obvious why. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and everything was clearly frozen food. The taste was utterly disappointing. To make matters worse, the restaurant’s payment system completely crashed, making the whole process painfully slow and frustrating (and with the intention of pushing us to pay by cash). Great view, yes – but absolutely not worth wasting your time or money here. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Istanbul.
Solène M — Google review
*Do not recommend* Would give zero stars if I could. The waiters are completely disinterested. But why would they with a automatic 10% service charge? The hummus was tasteless, and the lamb had the consistency of cardboard and tasted the same. Overpriced, overcooked, underseasoned, this was possibly the worst meal I've had in Istambul. Other than the view, do avoid this place. We were drawn to it from the reviews but failed to check that most were from 5 years ago. Avoid at all costs.
Joshua — Google review
Its a gorgeous setting and we had a great experience. The reason I gave 4 stars is that the food is good but not amazing. Service was very attentive and we had a great table by the edge with incredible views. The food was nice and fresh, but I have had better food in Istanbul. Go for the view for sure. The price is also reasonable. It was $150 USD for 4 of us with lots of food and wine. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Make a reservation if you can for the best views.

Konyali Restaurant is a family-run establishment known for its traditional cuisine and stunning views of the strait. The restaurant gained fame for serving meals during the circumcision feast of Suleiman the Magnificent's sons in 1539, with over 200 recipes rediscovered from that time. Visitors can enjoy modern twists on historical dishes while taking in picturesque scenery from the terrace. Guests have praised not only the delicious food but also the exceptional service and honesty of the staff.
A truly great experience - have a delightful meal while surrounded by ancient grandeur that only a century ago was open only to the Ottoman elite. It’s pricy, but the experience is well worth it, especially if you manage to get a table overlooking the glorious Bosporus.

We didn't eat inside the restaurant, but we tried the cafe outside. It's very nice! The price is European standard so not so cheap, but the cake has very good quality, plus the view, I think overall it worth it. When you finish visiting the palace, this is a good place to take a rest and have cake with coffee. I recommend this one.

I had an enjoyable lunch here with a group of colleagues and acquaintances. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious, but the portions were enormous. I particularly liked the lentil soup. The best part of the restaurant is the amazing location within the Topkapı Palace Museum complex.

After 5 hours of touring the amazing Topkapı Palace and hearing more about sherbert (the cold drink not the frozen treat) we stopped here for one and some ice cream. The mixed flavor sherbet was amazing! Pomegranate, ginger, rose water, and some other things I didn't catch. The modern serving containers were not exactly the same as the old school ones 😅. The pistachio ice cream was 4/5. Very creamy and delicious. Would I spend a lot of money to eat a meal here? Probably not, but it was a great place to recharge looking at the beautiful scenery and enjoying a treat before exiting the palace gates and heading back into the busy city.

Confectionery store
Ali Muhiddin Hacı Bekir Lokumları is a renowned Turkish delight shop in Istanbul, dating back to 1777 during the days of the Ottoman Empire. The founder, Sekerci Haci Bekir, was honored with the title of "sekercibasi" by the Ottoman palace. This iconic establishment offers an array of traditional Turkish sweets including lokum, halva, and various fruit pastes.
I believe this is one of the oldest confectionery store having been run by multiple generations of the same family. The atmosphere is very authentic and the candies are of course amazing! Highly recommended for experience but also to grab a few boxes for friends and family.

Saw this dessert spot online and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We tried several things and everything was just incredible. A must if you’re in Istanbul, seriously, this city is the capital of sweet treats. Don’t miss it!

If you’re are looking for traditional original Turkish candies including Turkish delights you should visit this store. This place has been managed by single family throughout different generations. One of the photos that I have posted is their commercial registration back in 1918. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a superior quality.

Don’t fall for the tourist-trap versions — this is the original Hacı Bekir. Yes, the prices are about four times higher than average sweets shops, but you’re not just buying candy: you’re buying history, craftsmanship, and top ingredients. Their lokum/turkish delight is chewy, not overly sweet, with refined flavors — true artisanship. Many sources agree it’s one of the best in Istanbul. Service is polite, the shop has a classic feel, and the presentation is elegant. For a high-end, authentic experience, this is the place.

We tried the pistachio halva and the rose and walnut lokum. The halva was very delicious and fresh, I would definitely recommend it! Lokum in general is not our favourite dessert, however it was interesting to try it. You could feel on it that it is really fresh.

I feel somewhat ripped off from this place. I went here after reading good reviews on Google Maps and decided to ask for a kilo of the mixed fruit turkish delight to take home. After clarfiying with the person behind the counter, "yes, all fruits" and pointed at the plate of turkish delight presented in the cabinet with a label of 670,00TL I thought that was pretty straightforward. I was then offered a sample of their pomegranate and pistachio which was nice and asked if I wanted some of that, so I responded with a yes. And then similarly with their plain pistachio flavour. I was then asked to pay and it surprised me when the total was just below 1400TL, thinking I had read the price wrong and actually the price advertised was for a half kilo, I paid and left. After looking at the receipt, I was correct and that the price was 670TL per kilo but I was charged triple for the pistachio flavours I never asked for in the first place. Yet another con from a dishonest vendor in Istanbul. How about clarifying that the price was triple what I had asked for? The answer to that question, because that would have been the honest thing to do. And during my time in Istanbul I have learned one thing, no one is honest with you. I have attached the reciept below to show the product I wanted and the price it was supposed to be per kilo, against the other items charged. The weight was 13% more than what I asked and nearly half of that was triple the price I asked for.

A very accomplished upmarket sweet store in two adjacent locations. We tried their marzipan sweets which were absolutely delicious, freshly made and of a very generous size. They were heavenly. The shop has several sites. Avoid the Istakal Street shop and come here. The Istikal Street shop tends to have stale and tasteless products (we tried both).
Christopher A — Google review
Recently purchased their Turkish delight, both types had pistachios in them and one was chocolate covered. Both are very good, but the chocolate covered is amazing! Had to make myself stop before I ate the bag. English is not spoken, but it worked for me to point to what I wanted and also point to various containers they have to indicate the amount.

Kebab shop
Kebapçi Enver Usta, once a beloved culinary gem, has been closed since 2015. This establishment was renowned for its exceptional kebabs that delighted the taste buds of many. Sadly, the master behind this iconic eatery has also passed away, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of perfect flavors. May he rest in peace as we remember the delicious experiences he provided to his patrons.

(Translated by Google) We went to Enver, a nice shop, a kebab restaurant of many years, upon the recommendation of my friend. It is a bit difficult to find reliable food around Galata - Şişhane, this is a clean, honest business. The chicken beyti is good, maybe it can be cooked a little less to keep it juicy.

(Translated by Google) The comment I made before on another place is stuck here. I am sorry. Since I have never been to Enver Usta's new location, I cannot comment. However, I know it is a good place because I have heard its name, and I will go there at the first opportunity. For now, be cautious; - at least 3.5 stars..! - I guess you deserve it.
