Mevlana Kebap Lahmacun Salonu is a popular spot known for its delicious and affordable Turkish cuisine. The menu features lahmacun, a flavorful pizza-like dish topped with tomato, herbs, and meat, as well as other traditional options like kebabs and liver. The restaurant offers generous portions and complimentary treats such as pita bread before the main meal and baklava with Turkish tea for dessert.
We had an amazing experience at this Turkish restaurant in Istanbul! The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and beautifully prepared. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel very welcome. The location is perfect, easy to find and with a lovely atmosphere that adds to the experience. Prices are very affordable for the quality you get, which makes it even better. If you want to enjoy traditional Turkish food in Istanbul, this is definitely the place to go. highly recommended!
Milena M — Google review
A friend of mine showed me this place one night and we ended up eating here the next 3 nights for the rest of our trip! Even if we were all the way on the other European side, we always found ourselves gravitating towards this restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the food is tasty, and the staff are sweet, what more could you ask for? Generously, the meal would start with bread and ezme and end with baklava. Lentil soup, eggplant salad, and menemen were some of our go-tos. The adana kebab and chicken were also winners! I would give more stars if I could haha. I’m going to miss the good vibes of the kind gentleman, teşekkürler!!
Risel E — Google review
The spicy Kebap was delicious and well priced. Complimentary tea, a free appetizer and a little baklava despite me not ordering much. Waiter was a little pushy like many in the city, but service was quick and otherwise friendly. Strongly recommend!
Jackdidily — Google review
This was definitely the best value-for-money dinner I had in Istanbul! I had the spicy kebab and an aubergine 'salad' (cooked with tomatoes and capsicum) which were really yummy and both good portion sizes. The meal came to 520 in total including my drink. Owner and staff were very friendly, and they even gave baklava, starters and tea for free. There is free Wi-Fi. Overall a pleasant experience.
Erica J — Google review
Mevlana Kebap Lahmacun Salonu is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for authentic Turkish food without overspending. Located in Fatih, it serves generous portions of tasty lahmacun, kebabs, and more—typically costing around ₺200–₺400 per person. The real highlight? Complimentary appetizers like bread, followed by baklava and Turkish tea at the end—such warm hospitality adds tremendous value. The atmosphere is casual, the service friendly, and the quality consistently good. An excellent spot for both locals and visitors seeking great flavor and great prices.
Nicolò S — Google review
Terrible experience! I do not recommend this restaurant at all. The staff were extremely rude and displayed clear racist behavior, especially towards non-Turkish customers. One of the staff gave me very unpleasant looks and made comments in Turkish. I also witnessed another customer, who was there with his family, have an argument with the staff just because he asked for an empty plate — and they wanted to charge him extra for it! Absolutely unacceptable. Very disappointing.
Anas B — Google review
So happy we found this place. Great food at an unbeatable price. We have tried the chicken and the Adana kebab, both were delicious.
Claire K — Google review
Very tasty, very good food. Unfortunately, due to time, didn’t take photos of main course. Lamb Sish and chicken chop, very tasty and with nice accompanying sides. The price is also value for money. Highly recommended. Near the hotels

Offal barbecue restaurant
Kral Kokoreç Sirkeci is a great Turkish offal barbecue restaurant that serves delicious lamb dishes. The food is popular today as it was when they first opened, and the service is excellent. There are many locations around the city where you can get the most authentic Turkish cuisine.
the food was very good, well seasoned and juicy. the service was also great and they were efficient and responsive.
Emily L — Google review
This place has been a part of our lives for over 25 years. My wife used to come here as a teenager, and we've been regulars together for the past 10 years since getting married. The quality has always been very good, and the service remains consistently friendly and pleasant. Prices are reasonable, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and welcoming spot. If you like Kokoreç go for it 10/10
Dr. C — Google review
We tried Kokoreç and Midye Dolma here, both Turkish specialties. The flavors were interesting and worth trying at least once. The Kokoreç had a nice seasoning, though I personally found the texture a bit too chewy for my taste. My girlfriend enjoyed the mussels, but for both of us it felt more like a one-time experience rather than something we’d have again. What stood out, however, was the service. Even though the setting is very casual—just tables right in the street—the waiter was attentive. When he noticed we wanted to clean our hands, he immediately brought hand sanitizer and fresh towels, which was a thoughtful touch. A good spot if you’re curious to try authentic local street specialties, with friendly and attentive service.
Philipp B — Google review
We were craving mussels and found this spot through a Google search—and it did not disappoint. The mussel dish was amazing! I’m still impressed by how they managed to stuff flavorful rice inside each mussel without overcooking the meat. I also tried the meat-stuffed bread, which was delicious as well. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Overall, a great find. Would definitely come back!
Summer W — Google review
Absolutely delicious! Ate here at Kral Kokoreç and the food was outstanding. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The kokoreç was cooked just right—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—and full of authentic taste. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and local. Definitely a must-try spot if you want a true Turkish street food experience!
Toni B — Google review
We tried the stuffed mussels and the large sliced Kokoreç. I enjoyed the mussels—they were tasty. The Kokoreç, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. I was expecting more richness in flavor and a juicier, chewier texture, but instead it felt rather dry and plain.
Wei-Ting L — Google review
Flavorful dolma. Good, tendered lamb spice, and bread is very soft. Turkish tea is free. Good service and the food came within 2-3 mins. Would come back again.
Daniel C — Google review
The food was AWESOME if you like strong flavours, the herbs make a great combination and the general texture is very good. The staff is not that great if you're a foreigner, but it's not bad or mean, just not the usual Turkish friendliness.

Dessert restaurant
Baklavacı Diyar Usta Sirkeci is a must-visit in Istanbul for baklava enthusiasts. Unlike traditional baklava, they offer unique variations like a chocolate version that resembles a fudgy brownie. Customers praise the shop for its incredible baklava that's not overly sweet and has the perfect flaky texture.
We love Baklava! But I haven’t had such fresh and delicious Baklava in a long time. It’s easy to forget that authentic Turkish Baklava isn’t actually that sweet! Definitely super tasty – and we’ll definitely be coming back! Huge selection of all kinds of sweet specialties from Turkish cuisine.I definitely recommend the Künefe, but those baked walnuts are simply heavenly too! Very attentive service and a friendly owner.
Veit B — Google review
Good attendance with reasonable price. It's no crowned and the Americano coffee is yummy. The guys working there are very easygoing. There isn't toilet.
Pandora — Google review
I just left the restaurant around midnight. Of all the restaurants I’ve been to in Istanbul, this one had the coldest atmosphere. I’m not sure if it’s because it was closing time, but the ambiance was really chilly. I wanted to leave. The food was good. The restaurant seemed clean. The place looks nice. I told the waiter that the food was good, and he said, “Ah, okay.” I said goodbye, and no one responded. I’m keeping a healthy skepticism—maybe the first person didn’t speak English, maybe the second didn’t hear me—but from start to finish, you can feel the coldness. It feels like you’re a disturbance. Advice: smile more, be warmer, a good meal and a nice restaurant aren’t enough. What people remember is truly the warmth and kindness. I hope my comment helps fewer people leave disappointed. A simple tourist.
Zahra — Google review
Perfect afternoon pick me up. Had an assortment of baklava and turkish coffee. Personal favourite was 'cold baklava', a mix of cold milk, something and baklava. Like an ice cream cake baklava. The owner was super lovely and ran us through everything. Right next to the tram line. Dance music playing inside.
Taylor J — Google review
Decided we wanted something sweet with our morning coffee. Tried a small sampling of delicious baklava and a coffee. The gentleman who served us was very helpful and the coffee did not disappoint. My husband had an espresso and I had a cappuccino and it was the best coffee I have had in weeks. He told us they serve Lavazza (Italian coffee)! The restaurant was clean and very inviting. We will be back!
Kate D — Google review
Absolutely love it. The classic baklava with ice cream is amazing and with a Turkish coffee it is a true match made in heaven
Atila B — Google review
When I came across Diyar Usta a few years back when visiting Turkey for the first time, previously known as Sugar Factory, we have tried kunefe and baklava at different places but this has by far been the best and freshest. Since then, Diyar Usta has become part of our daily routine for our everyday dessert fix when visiting Istanbul. Our favourite items that keeps us coming back for more are their kunefe, baklava, San Sebastián cheesecake and chocolate brownies. With our last visit in January 2025, we met their new waitress, Faziela, she has been such a delight to our experience, a pleasant and well spoken young lady, offering top tiered service! Thank you Faziela, you are a gem to Diyar Usta!
Nawahl P — Google review
He didn’t buy the beige colour Turkish delight, one of them is missing even tho we told him repeatedly what we wanted. Didn’t check this until later on. Make sure to check your boxes cause you might end up with something missing

Turkish restaurant
Sultan Doner Kebab Restaurant is a must-visit in Istanbul, known for its authentic and delicious doner kebabs. The restaurant offers a unique experience with its vertical stack of rotating meat shaved into pita bread with fresh vegetables. Located in the vibrant Grand Bazaar, the restaurant is committed to halal practices, ensuring that every ingredient used is prepared according to Islamic dietary laws.
Our experience was great here, the food is really good - it's definitely worth a try - and the service was really helpful and friendly. Might be a bit expensive, but it's well worth it. We ate one of the best foods in Istanbul here. Just note that it's a small place, so it can get crowded fast. All in all, would definitely go back.

BEST DONER KEBABS IN ISTANBUL- Spicy chicken is the go to order! We found this place yesterday and had to come back for a second time. Food is incredible and service is top tier! A must go when in town!
Maddy S — Google review
We had a quick lunch at Sultan Doner Kebab with six people and loved it! Fresh and tasty food, served fast. The ice teas were refreshing, and the coffees and teas after the meal were excellent. Warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuine street food charm.
Karl G — Google review
Best kebab in Istanbul! Service was quick and thoughtful. The man cooking saw we were running low on sauce and refilled it as it started to run low. Definitely recommend making a pit stop to eat yummy food here especially if you're in the grand bazar area.
Anali V — Google review
Nice place to eat a good doner kebabs around the grand bazar!!! The attention was really kind and fast, the food was really good, you can taste the spices, if you like spicy the spicy sauce is amazing!!! The size is really good! And the complementary tea is always so nice to get!! The juices are really fresh and also good in size!

Restaurant
Karadeniz Pide Vefa is a hidden gem in Istanbul, offering traditional Turkish pide with various toppings like meat, cheese, and vegetables. The place is popular among locals for its amazing food and efficient service. The staff is hospitable and inviting, providing a warm atmosphere. While the pide may not be suitable for those on a diet due to its high carbohydrate and fat content, it's definitely worth trying for an authentic taste of Turkey.
Best meal we had in Istanbul! Hyper local, there wasn’t a single tourist besides us at dinner time. They do not speak English but are more than happy to use translate and speak with their hands. The owner was incredible, stopping by our table to ask how our food was and check us out. He even showed us a picture of himself at 13 years old on the wall. Incredible food, incredible experience! If you want to avoid the tourists traps and have a quality, reasonably priced meal - go here!
Sarah P — Google review
Fantastic find …. Shhhh not really too many people! Mostly locals enjoying lunch, place was packed.
Alun E — Google review
Exceptional Pides! A recommendation we found online from a 2 star Michelin chef and his favourite eats in the city. The staff were so friendly, despite speaking very little english. The food was incredible, fresh, authentic and tasty. Would defiantly come again.
Janine K — Google review
It is a family cafe for eating simple but tasty food with nice men taking care about you and cooking, that's where you fill like in Turkey and not in the tourist area. Prices are also much lower than anything else in the old town and nearby. It is not really a restaurant with fancy dishes, it is a canteen where you come to eat when you are hungry and you do not want to spend 1-2000L on a single meal
Anton — Google review
Super delicious. Highly recommended. We have a perfect lunch here. All family members are so happy. Food is great. People are super nice. I must return next time when I back to Istanbul.

After visiting 400+ restaurants in Turkey 🇹🇷 I can say with a full heart, I finally found the Turkish traditional food I’m looking for
Majed S — Google review
We came to this restaurant for its famous pide, and it was not disappointing! One little surprise was that their pide was the closed style (meat inside the bread) but not the open one like a pizza. It was delicious. Also the geen peppers were so good, properly spicy.
Qiao W — Google review
Food was great. Had the Kebab and the meat egg Pida. Kebab was abit gamey though. After taste is too strong. Although, you can wash it down with a drink or the yoghurt on the side. The staff was ultra friendly and helpful to offer recommendations and guidance. Watching out for us anytime.

Fast food restaurant
Meşhur Eminönü Balık Ekmek is a popular street food in Istanbul, often found near the Galata Bridge. The iconic red and gold boats with domes sell these delectable fish sandwiches made with grilled whitefish or mackerel, raw onions, lettuce, and seasoned with salt, herbs, spices, and a squeeze of lemon. The preparation involves grilling the fresh-caught fish to perfection over coals while marinating onions and the bread.
I love mackerel in general, so I had to try this wrap while in Istanbul. The fish was juicy, and the veggies and wrap added the perfect crispiness. The owners are also very friendly. There are about three small tables and a few chairs where you can eat right away. I also tried the pickle juice, which I wasn’t a fan of, but it was an interesting experience! A great spot to stop by after taking the ferry to Eminönü.
Yoonjae B — Google review
This is the REAL one! I saw a video on TT and saved it. But forgot about it. My friend who is a local was saying they have good fish sandwiches . We got 2 for each of us and tore it up. It’s kinda like a fish burrito filled with veggies and coated with their seasoning. It looked spicy but it wasn’t. I love how the shell is crunchy. We will be going back tomorrow😂😂 I wished I went earlier in my vacation, because I would have gotten one every day. I love fish and it was a perfect meal. Not too heavy and balanced. It is popular so there was a little wait when I was there. There is indoor seating. The first time I didn’t know and thought it was only the few seats outside. So don’t be afraid to go in. It’s nice and airy. There are a lot of copy cats in the area , but my friend said there are no good and he’s right because they had no customers when we walked by. So don’t be tempted to skip the line 😂 10 out of 10. Don’t miss it.
Richard A — Google review
The fish wrap was excellent! The fish was perfectly filleted, with skin and bones removed, making it easy and enjoyable to eat. An extra layer of sauce on top added a flavorful punch that really elevated the wrap. Highly recommend! Wander with Dave. Eat. Stay. Explore. N.B The waiting time may be long as they tend to make in bulk.
Wander D — Google review
A friend recommended me to this place, it’s totally worth the queue! The fish is succulent, no bones, and the spices go so well in its entirety. Definitely a must try if you visit Istanbul!
Ying C — Google review
Hey everyone! 👋🐟 If you’re in the area and craving a fish wrap sandwich, this little shop might be worth a visit. Personally, I found it just okay – maybe because I’m not the biggest fan of fish sandwiches 🐠🌯. But from what I saw, everyone else there seemed to really enjoy it and there was a steady line of happy customers 😊👍. So, it’s definitely popular! If you’re nearby, it’s not a bad idea to grab one and see for yourself! 🎣✨
Hazem — Google review
SO GOOOOOOODD!! i love it. best fish wrap I tasted in Istanbul. would buy it again. There is a line, have to patient but it is worth the wait

The fish wrap 🌯 is amazing! Fresh, hot and tasty. It's a white fish and has all the fixings..plus this spice mix that's perfect.

The prices are more than fair, 80 TL for a portion with meat and 30 TL for the tea. The owner is very nice and friendly, even though communication in English isn’t easy.

A Hidden Gem for Börek Lovers! If you’re in Istanbul and want to taste real, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth börek, Hazel Börek is an absolute must. This place delivers one of the most unforgettable börek experiences I’ve had in Turkey — and that’s saying a lot! From the moment you walk in, the smell of buttery pastry and fresh cheese hits you in the best way. Everything is baked fresh on-site, and you can see the love and craftsmanship in every slice. I tried the mince meat one and it was perfectly balanced — crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. Service is fast and friendly, prices are fair (even generous for the quality), and the tea comes hot and strong — just how it should be. Highly recommend making a detour here — you’ll walk out smiling and full. Enjoy!!

I tried burek and was absolutely delighted! I really enjoyed the pastry — thin, crispy, yet soft on the inside. The filling was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced in taste. It’s exactly the kind of dish that makes you want another piece, even when you’re already full.

It's number 1 in that area. Bureks are so fresh and crunchy we tried ground beef, plain, cheese and su borek all was good and recommended. Prices are very good almost 3$ one portion burek and tea.

Had the meat pie and it was absolutely AMAZING. Fresh, tasty and scrumptious, both the meat filling and the pastry were on point. Plus, the prices are very affordable and it’s quite entertaining that you can watch the baker while he makes the layered pastry sheets.

Borek was great here! You can request a combination with meat, cheese or potato filling. Having it with some tea was a perfect pairing 🤗

Best Börek ever!!! It just melts in your mouth and the prices are very reasonable. They were crispy, soft, warm and full of flavour! A must try, if you are in Sultanahmet, a place filled with tourist spots that rip you off.

Simit Sarayı is a delightful culinary gem in Istanbul, renowned for its iconic circular bread coated in sesame seeds. Often likened to an American bagel but with a richer flavor, this beloved snack boasts a crispy exterior and fluffy interior that locals simply can't resist. Freshly baked simit can be found at numerous carts throughout the city, from the historic sites of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque to bustling Istiklal Avenue.

A wonderful place to rest while shopping in Spice Bazar. We had Turkish tea (Demleme çay). The tea was at the right temperature, right colour, excellent tanin concentration and more importantly, clean glass. Anyone who visits Spice Bazar must stop here for a couple of good tea.

Terrible service, I made an order of fries, after waiting for 20 minutes of watching everyone else get their orders, I go up to the same girl I ordered my fries with to ask why I am still waiting for my simple order, she said just 2 more minutes. 10 minutes later {now 30 mins have passed} I go up to ask again where is my order, the first girl that took my order was on a break, so there was another girl there, and she realised that the first girl didn't even start on my food. I was so angry. The girl that made my chips was lovely, she made it within 3 minutes, I felt bad for taking it out on her. But the first girl that took my order and another girl that was present were both terrible and rude for making me wait on an order that wasnt even processed. Avoid this place at all costs I think they are disgusting to foreigners.

Dessert restaurant
Keyfeder Künefe Katmer is a renowned establishment in Antep, Turkey, offering a modern and clean setting to savor authentic local dishes. With 25 years of experience, the restaurant has quickly gained popularity for its emphasis on taste. In addition to their famous kunefe, they also serve a delightful breakfast pastry called katmer, made with phyllo dough wrapped around kaymak and pistachios. This delicate Anatolian dessert is best enjoyed fresh and hot.
Incredible dessert! We had the half straw/ half special (for 1 person) and the many flavours in one (for two people). There were three of us eating and we could have just ordered one and had enough: this dessert is rich! Amazing flavours, great location. Recommend trying the kunefe here!
Julian S — Google review
Best Kunefe we had in Istanbul. The experience was great as well. They offered us fresh milk among and some other snacks on the house. Not too busy, but it was kinda late.
Alex P — Google review
A great spot for Turkish tea and dessert! Both Turkish desserts ( katmer and künefe) were absolutely delicious. The presentation and flavors were authentic and satisfying. While we waited for our order, they generously served complimentary nuts, carrots, and oranges, which was a lovely touch. Highly recommended for anyone craving a sweet Turkish treat and a relaxing tea experience.
Nasrin N — Google review
The katmer at Keyfeder Künefe Katmer was just right—not overly sweet, but perfectly balanced. It was crispy, lightly buttery, with a subtle sweetness and generous pistachio filling. My husband and I shared a plate while sitting on the terrace, enjoying the gentle night breeze. The atmosphere was peaceful and cozy—perfect for a relaxing evening. What made it even more special was their warm hospitality. They served us complimentary snacks: nuts, fresh orange and carrot slices, along with a 🫙 of fresh milk. Such thoughtful touches made us feel truly welcomed. It wasn’t just a dessert stop; it was a beautiful pause in our trip—savoring a light, satisfying treat, and enjoying each other’s company under the night sky. Keyfeder gave us more than good katmer, it gave us a lovely memory 🩷🎀

The spot was recommended to me to try katmer. It’s a cozy dessert restaurant tucked in an alley just parallel to the famous istiklal street. The katmer itself is a good option, it’s a bit fatty/oily but not particularly “too sweet”. Came fresh & warm. The portion is relatively big though, can easily be shared by two. The apple tea was especially good & refreshing! They provide complimentary orange & carrot slices, some nuts, & milk, which was really appreciated. The milk specifically paired perfectly with the warmth & heaviness of the Katmer. The staff are attentive & friendly. The prices are reasonable considering the touristy location & the ingredients used. Katmer was 470 TL & the apple tea was 80.

And you can watch the pide going into and out of the oven - fun to watch.

If you're wandering through Istanbul, make sure to seek out 'Pera Kumpir,' a delightful spot that specializes in the Turkish take on loaded jacket potatoes. These massive potatoes are expertly prepared by mixing the fluffy insides with cheese and butter, creating a creamy texture that's simply irresistible. In Turkey, the traditional method of preparing Turkish coffee involves roasting and grinding the beans before boiling them in a cezve. The resulting brew is poured into small cups, with the grounds settling at the bottom for fortune-telling. Visitors to Istanbul can find delightful shops offering affordable and fresh Turkish coffee and baklava. These charming spots often have friendly hosts who make customers feel at home while serving delicious coffee, juice, and borek.
A very charming little coffee shop that offers a truly authentic Turkish experience. The prices are very reasonable, and the owner is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We ordered a Turkish coffee, cheese börek, and a selection of mixed desserts, all chosen and served with care by the owner. The flavours were rich and delicious, and the attention to detail made the experience feel special. If you’re looking for warm hospitality and amazing Turkish treats, this place is a must-visit. The actual name of this place is “Ademoglu Pastanesi”. It’s been owned and operated by the lovely Adem for 35 years now. He said he’s had it since his son was just a little baby. I stumbled upon this place on my first day exploring Istanbul and came back twice the following day. I had delicious Turkish tea, coffee, simit with cream cheese, pomegranate juice, baklava, börek and so much more the 3 times that I went. Adem doesn’t overcharge even though it’s so close to tourist sites. I got 3 types of börek, Turkish coffee with a Turkish dessert (forgot the name) and a bottle of water for TRY 180. I also got simit, pomegranate juice and bottle of water for TRY 70. The baklava and borek are delicious and very affordable! This place definitely deserves more attention. It has a very cozy vibe to it and Adem is loved by the locals (and I totally understand why!). He’s the epitome of Turkish hospitality! I can’t wait to visit Adem again when I go back to Istanbul!

Had such an amazing dining experience at Mikla! Loved everything about this restaurant and can easily see why it's been listed on the The World's 50 Best Restaurant for a number of years and hasa Michelin star! The setting: the top of The Marmara Pera (conveniently just went down a floor after a sneaky pre drinks at the rooftop bar). In the midst of jasmine scents accompanied by the refreshing breeze of Galata I take in breathtaking views shimmering in the setting sun where old mosques glow like gold crowns! It's impossible not to feel romanced by Istanbul! The food here is innovatively delish! The menu combines contemporary techniques with traditional Anatolian recipes heroing fresh local produce from every corner of Anatolia to create beautiful dishes reflects the traditions of Anatolia's lands and people. I went with the 3 course a la carte menu and loved everything I ordered! My fave was the Seafood Casserole. The seafood was ocean fresh and the stew was a flavour bomb! 💣😋 Loved the spice kick it had too! The smoked duck was tasty too! Balanced really well with the sourness of the cherry in the salad and the pepper ham and white bean hummus! Desert was quite the sweet treat! Got the Burnt Hazelnut Halva loved the light creaminess of the rice pudding and the refreshing kaffir lime hazelnut sorbet! Was super impressed by the 3 courses of complementary snacks too which really showcased creative modern flair to traditional flavours! 😍

Dining at Mikla in Istanbul was a truly remarkable and unforgettable experience — the kind that stays with you long after the evening ends. As a Michelin-recognized restaurant, expectations were high, but Mikla exceeded every single one of them with grace and brilliance. The moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed into an atmosphere that radiates sophistication and charm. The panoramic view over Istanbul — especially as the sun sets and the city lights begin to sparkle — creates an absolutely magical backdrop. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern luxury and warm intimacy, making it ideal for a special occasion or simply celebrating the joy of great food. Speaking of food — every dish was a masterpiece. The tasting menu was meticulously curated, offering innovative flavors inspired by Anatolian heritage while maintaining a refined, contemporary approach. Each plate looked like art and tasted even better — layered, balanced, and bursting with creativity. You can truly sense the passion and expertise behind every element. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a culinary journey. The wine selection deserves special praise. The list is thoughtfully built, showcasing both exceptional local wines and impressive international labels. With knowledgeable guidance, each pairing elevated the dishes beautifully and added depth to the experience. But what truly made our dinner extraordinary was the impeccable service. Every member of the team was attentive, gracious, and genuinely passionate about what they do. A heartfelt thank you to the tall gentleman with the white beard who took such wonderful care of us throughout the evening. His warm presence, expertise, and personal touches made us feel so welcomed and transformed a superb meal into an unforgettable celebration. Mikla is the definition of fine dining done right — breathtaking atmosphere, extraordinary cuisine, exceptional wine, and world-class hospitality. starry!!!!! firstly, this is the most welcomed i’ve felt in a restaurant. the service is so well-mannered and kind and attentive. truly deserving of the michelin star. the dirty martini was well made, and the white wine we had was fantastic, really light and fruity. the complementary crudités and bread were unbelievable. particularly the little sardine crisp! and i’m telling you, i really dont like olive oil, but this Turkish olive oil with the bread, i fell in love with. i could drink it pure. for a starter, the lamb’s heart was spectacular. soft and tender and the purée was sweet and nutty, reminiscent of all things good. the dry aged beef as a main was crazy. so much juicy meat, spectacularly flavourful just by good cooking. i did miss some flaky salt on it but the well-seasoned sides compensated. i think the kale was so good and crispy and i’m a sucker for layered crispy potatoes. for dessert i highly recommend the bitter chocolate! like a nice elongated dark praline with a tangy cherry-berry sorbet. yum. overall, great date night spot, and terribly delicious. the cocktail list is so long and its worth going just for that and some amazing Istanbul views. but also stay for a show-stopping meal!

The family-owned business, which has been operating since the 1800s, is famous for its meticulously crafted baklava made by experienced "usta"s who skillfully prepare paper-thin phyllo dough and generously fill it with pistachios.
Exceptional Baklava! Truly one of a kind. If you’re ever in Istanbul and happen to have a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on this place! Everything was so good and the service was excellent. I recently visited Karaköy Güllüoğlu – Nadir Güllü, and it was an incredible experience for anyone who loves authentic Turkish desserts! Every piece is freshly made with high-quality ingredients, perfectly flaky pastry, and a sweet, nutty filling that melts in your mouth. The staff is friendly and professional, and the shop itself is very clean and welcoming. You can enjoy your desserts on-site or take them to go. Tips for visitors: • Try the classic pistachio baklava — it’s the signature item and absolutely worth it. • Visit earlier in the day if you want to get the freshest pastries. • They have options for gifting or takeaway, perfect if you want to bring a taste of Istanbul home. • The location in Karaköy is very accessible and easy to combine with sightseeing in the area. This is considered by many to be the best place in the city to eat baklava, being a very traditional and famous pastry shop. The pastries are really good, with crispy phyllo dough and quality pistachios. However, it must be said that they are extremely sweet for the Brazilian palate, so a small piece may be enough. The place was very crowded when we went, but since the space is large, with several floors and even a pleasant garden, we managed to find a place to sit without any problems. The service at the counter was adequate and fast, despite the rush. They accept credit card payments.
Luana B — Google review
If you love sweets, you should definitely stop by, because desserts in Turkey are extremely sweet. There are plenty of varieties with eye-catching shapes, but they all taste equally sweet, so just order one or two to try. (eventhough we are all sweet-toothed, we still thought it was too sweet) Best enjoyed with hot, bitter tea to balance out the sweetness. The space is spacious, airy, beautifully decorated, and suitable for different groups of people. The milk flavor is very rich, so those who can’t handle it should consider carefully. It’s famous, so worth visiting at least once. If you can’t handle sweets, just get one piece for 2-3 people.

I first saw this place years ago on the Food Network, where they talked about its history as a baklava factory that has been around for more than a century. During our first trip to Turkey in 2015, we made sure to visit, and we were blown away. Coming back years later felt like returning to an old favorite. They have since moved to a larger spot just down the road with a beautiful café, outdoor seating, and a takeout section. The baklava is still on another level, rich, flaky, and absolutely unforgettable. Easily the best baklava I have ever had anywhere in the world. Luckily, we purchased several boxes to go so we can devour them back home in the States!

I had a meeting here with a Turkish friend who recommended the place, and it was just wow. The interior is superb and the sweets were absolutely great. I’m not usually a big fan of desserts, but I still really enjoyed it. The baklava with ice cream was something new for me and it was delicious.

Well... It's OK. I might not be the connoisseur of baklava but I really don't see anything special in what they sell. Cold baklava was interesting but the portion did not match the price... They seem to position themselves as more of an upscale establishment but inside there's a lot of people all fighting for tables. I didn't leave thinking it was the best treat I had and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone

Turkish restaurant
Cafe Privato Restaurant is a rustic-chic dining option located near the historic Galata Tower, offering traditional Turkish cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is known for serving a sensational Turkish breakfast spread with an abundance of fresh ingredients including tomatoes, olives, cheeses, and homemade jams. Additionally, it offers sizzling eggs, grilled sucuk sausage, and an array of savory and sweet pastries.
Visited in August 2025. Turkey 🇹🇷 Istanbul. Cafe Privato Restaurant is a charming little eatery with a delightful terrace, apparently linked to a hotel. We chose it inspired by glowing reviews and the appeal of options beyond the standard Turkish breakfast. FOOD: Among the choices is the Turkish breakfast, but unlike many spots in Istanbul where they either force you to order two portions or list the price straight for a pair (which frustrates plenty of reviewers), here you can simply get it for one. So we opted for a single Turkish breakfast and a plain omelet. The Turkish breakfast was wonderfully fresh and flavorful, brimming with assorted baked treats—those fluffy pancakes were a highlight—along with veggies, fresh cheeses, savory spreads, and eggs; all in all, a beautifully diverse and satisfying spread for a hearty morning meal. The omelet was prepared flawlessly, striking the ideal balance—not too runny or overly dry—with a smooth, inviting texture. SERVICE: The service was exceptionally warm and welcoming; our waiter spoke fluent Russian and guided us thoughtfully through the menu, even graciously preparing the plain omelet that wasn’t originally listed. VERDICT: An excellent restaurant boasting a picturesque terrace ideal for basking in sunny weather. The food was truly delicious, with prices a shade above average compared to other places, yet we thoroughly savored the meal and ambiance—the option for an individual breakfast is a standout perk.

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant. The staff and manager were SO kind, the food was incredible, and we liked it so much that we came *three* times during our four day visit. I will NEVER stop thinking about the lentil soup, not was incredible and I would love the recipe 😍 The Turkish breakfast was also amazing.

Most delicious food in Istanbul 😍 Cozy atmosphere, amazing staff, the best place in Istanbul!!! You will be lucky to have breakfast here. Evening has just “wow” atmosphere! Huge thanks to Gio who was there all the time creating the best possible experience. Must go, see and eat!

We were recommended to try their turkish breakfast and were glad we did. As the picture speaks for itself, the portion for 2 could easily feed 3-4 people. The spread itself was great, a variety of fresh produce and simple yet tasty condiments. Even better, the window seats gives you a nice view of Galata tower. Price is reasonable and the restaurant is spacious if you're going in a large group. This was easily the best turkish breakfast we had in Istanbul.

We really liked this cute little place and its casual vibe. No pressure service, located on breezy street with shades if u r trying to hide from the sun while u eat - let's call it a "shabby chic" place 😉 We ordered Turkish breakfast for 1 and it was enough for both of us Try their fresh squeezed juices Definitely stop by

A lovely Turkish breakfast place, all dishes were really tasty. The service was excellent and really friendly, they even gave us extra eggs on the house which we appreciated.

Loved the food. The whole ambience is so inviting and relaxed. Their Turkish breakfast is worth trying. On one visit I went there twice because of the amazing experience. You also get a view of galata tower from the restaurant.

Nestled in the historic Pera district, Aheste is a charming eatery that beautifully marries industrial aesthetics with culinary creativity. This modern Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurant specializes in meze-style dining, offering an enticing tasting menu that showcases the chef's innovative approach to traditional dishes. The intimate atmosphere, characterized by close-set tables and exposed brick walls, invites diners to enjoy not only exquisite food but also thoughtfully crafted cocktails.
Aheste is an incredible spot in Istanbul — perfect for both a romantic date night or a fun group dinner! The food was outstanding from start to finish — every bite was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were awesome, super accommodating with our group’s different tastes and requests, and made the whole evening effortless and fun. We enjoyed some great cocktails and discovered a few fantastic local wines along the way. A must-visit for anyone who loves amazing food, warm hospitality, and a great vibe! 🍷✨

I was in Istanbul for a vacation and as soon as I started planning places to eat Aheste was at the top of my list — I’d read great things. The restaurant sits on Meşrutiyet Caddesi in Asmalı Mescit, Beyoğlu, in a street already filled with classy, beautifully designed places that make you want to wander by just to soak in the atmosphere. Knowing how popular it is, we made a reservation almost a month in advance. When the night came, we arrived and were seated quickly — no long wait, which immediately set the tone. The servers were wonderful: humble, warm, very attentive, and clearly knowledgeable about the menu and drinks — helpful when you want to try something off the beaten path. We kicked things off with drinks: “The Old Nutcracker” and “Callisto.” They were decent. I thought the Nutcracker was like an Old Fashioned but with a lighter touch of alcohol — enough to feel something, but not overwhelming. Callisto had its charm too, though it wasn’t quite as memorable as the Nutcracker for me. Everything at Aheste is sharable, which works well for trying lots of different things. To start, we had the dudi Persian rice and the artichoke confit. The artichoke confit was surprisingly good — rich, flavorful and well executed. The rice was okay; pleasant, but not outstanding, a little underwhelming compared to what else came. After that we tried the tuna kadayıf and stuffed zucchini flowers. The tuna kadayıf was excellent — really a highlight. The tuna itself was probably the best bite of the evening. The zucchini flowers were nice, delicate and charming, though not as strong in impact as the tuna. We were disappointed to learn that the main course we anticipated — the lamb shoulders — were out that evening. That was a shame, because it had been something I was looking forward to. Instead, we pivoted to dessert: a classic rice pudding and rounded off the meal with a digestif, Amaretto. Both were very good — the rice pudding felt comfortingly traditional, the amaretto was a smooth, fitting end to the meal. Overall, Aheste was very good. Service, food, ambiance — all near the top. It didn’t feel perfect in every single dish (some were stronger than others), but the strengths far outweighed the small misses. If I were back in Istanbul, I’d definitely go again, and I’d recommend it to friends looking for something special but not stuffy.
Nuhn B — Google review
As a vegetarian, I often struggle to find meals that feel both authentic and exciting when traveling — but Aheste delivered on both counts. While not a vegetarian restaurant, they offer a separate vegetarian tasting menu with over 10 beautifully crafted Turkish dishes. Every course was creative, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The service was excellent — professional, English-friendly, and very knowledgeable about both the food and wine. We had a local Turkish wine recommended by our waiter, which paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere was quiet, cosy, and welcoming, a peaceful escape from the busy streets outside. Great value for a memorable dining experience!

Honest take on a popular spot in Istanbul Aheste – Istanbul The restaurant was packed, yet the service was kind and attentive. The sea bream was well cooked, but the mix of flavors with the Turkish risotto and charred leek leaf didn’t quite work for me. Some dishes I wanted to try couldn’t be prepared without alcohol, which was a bit disappointing. I skipped dessert since there were only two options — rice pudding and baklava — both of which seemed a bit too heavy for me. I appreciate the effort and atmosphere, but I don’t think I’d return. Please note, 1. Dishes tend to sell out, I heard the waiters repeating sold out to customers for many dishes! 2. No parking. Overall rating 2/10 Overall 2/10

Came here with my cousin for dinner. And I must say. The food, service and atmosphere was just wonderful. We ordered 6 dishes and a couple of drinks. All were delicious and the cocktails were also very good. Service team were very friendly, and due to my belated birthday. They provided us with a nice small cake as well. All in all a wonderful experience, but price wise it's on the high side.

Aheste was the best dining experience of a two week trip through Greece and Türkiye. This well styled restaurant offers up a modern twist to Turkish cuisine and pairs it with great wines or cocktails. The design is simple and pleasing with a nice dark atmosphere and welcoming and helpful staff. The moment we walked in, they took care of us. Dishes and wines were recommended and taken. A wonderful tuna appetizer was the star of the show and the Zucchini Flowers were excellent. The Roast Lamb Shoulder was outstanding. They also have some small Turkish wines that make the meal. Looking for a special place to celebrate or just for an elevated dining experience, this is your place.

One of the best restaurants in Istanbul. The flavors, the imaginative pairings & the freshness of the ingredients create one of the most inspired menus I have tasted. The chef must be one of the kind. The ambient atmosphere and the friendly service complete the pleasant experience.

Wonderful dining at Aheste. We came to this restaurant because of the description and the reviews. As many / most have experienced, the staff were friendly yet efficient. We had a team serving us interesting and yummy food; my friend thinks it’s choreographed. The dining rooms, in an historic building, also added to the night. A restaurant worthy of your consideration when in Istanbul.

This cozy eatery exudes warmth and charm, reminiscent of a welcoming living room with its unique indoor-outdoor vibe. The menu features generous portions crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
It’s quite hard to find a brunch place as good as this one in Istanbul. Although it’s quite on a hill and takes some effort to reach, the breakfast spreads they provide are absolutely phenomenal. From the variation of cheese, to the multiple sauces they provide, each leaves its own unique taste. The boiled eggs are very tasty and nothing like I’ve ever had before and the sujuk is also very nice. The highlight for me however was in-house bread accompanied by the honey and cream. It was soo good and literally had me begging for more. Will definitely be returning!

Ordered 4 portions of eggs (different kinds) and you can see in the picture what we got. Food was great, turkish coffee flavourful (and first time when I was asked if I wanted a double) and staff was very friendly (one of the waiters helped us learn a few handy turkish words). Not the cheapest breakfast we had, but very good price-quality ratio.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast even though it was busy. It’s the perfect spot to start your morning near Taksim — relaxing, tasty, and full of local charm. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a real breakfast experience in Istanbul!

We came to Yigit Sofram based on recommendations from Reddit and they did not dissapoint! The food here is extremely delicious, decor and seating is comfortable and spacious, and the customer service is excellent as well! The meal sets start at 310TL (€6.8) through to 450TL (€10) and consist of a main (consisting of some form of fried eggs) with accompanying vegetables, bread and a complimentary Chai tea. From the mains we tried, would suggest trying the: - Famous Yigit Eggs - Turkish Sausages with Eggs - Halloumi Cheese - Roasted Beef with Eggs I'd highly recommend ordering the Cream and Honey Dip as it pairs excellently with the freshly baked flatbread. The Turkish Coffee is also excellent as well! This place is lovely and we have already been here twice on our 3 day trip. I'd highly recommend you to pay them a visit!

Ali Usta Burma Kadayif & Baklava is a Turkish dessert shop that serves delicious milk kadaif (sweet and crispy phyllo dough) as well as baklavas. It is perfect for those who like traditional Turkish desserts.
We tried the famous baklava with ashta ice cream, and it was sooo delicious! The baklava was perfectly crunchy and flavorful. The only downside was that it was a bit hard to cut; someone had to hold the plate while we sliced it. It’d be great if they could serve it already cut into bite-sized pieces to make it easier. Aside from that, it’s super filling, so it’s perfect for sharing with others!

Absolutely amazing baklava and fresh ice cream from Ali Usta! The perfect combination with Turkish chai. Excellent customer service and reasonably priced—highly recommended!

I ordered tea and four pieces of baklava for 385 Turkish liras. High price and poor quality as the baklava is not fresh.
Ahmad K — Google review
Of the three Turkish pastry shops in the area - Hafiz Mustafa, Safa and Ali Usta - the last one is undoubtedly the best. Unlike Safa's terrible customer service, the waiter here is very friendly and did his best to serve us the pistachio katmer as soon as the place opened (normally you would have to wait for the pastry chef). The katmer (200TL) was indescribably good: warm, creamy, not overly sweet or greasy. The chocolate and pistachio baklavas were also balanced in flavor and texture, unlike Hafiz Mustafa's desserts which I find too sweet.
Greta G — Google review
You absolutely must try the Ketmer in this pastry shop, a delicate dessert with well-balanced sweetness, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, a pleasant surprise. Also enjoyed the popular baklava, which in its chocolate version is particularly delicious. Courteous and quick service. Card payments accepted.

Very delicious desserts, friendly and helpful staff. Many choices of Baklava with pistachio and walnut. even the burma kadayıf with walnut it's very delicious making with sweet milk not like usual kadayif with sherbat (sugar syrup). Hünkar is a renowned restaurant located in the upscale Nisantasi neighborhood of Istanbul, serving traditional Turkish and Ottoman cuisine since 1950. The restaurant features an open kitchen and traditional decor, offering a variety of dishes including esnaf (tradesman) specialties. Guests can choose from a selection of freshly made dishes displayed cafeteria-style, with popular options such as slow-cooked lamb wrapped in eggplant and meatballs with rice and herbs.
Hünkar Restaurant in Istanbul is truly great for anyone looking to experience authentic Ottoman cuisine at its finest. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with warm hospitality and a beautifully elegant yet traditional atmosphere that sets the tone for what’s to come. Every dish we tried was uniquely flavorful, clearly prepared with the freshest ingredients and great attention to detail. You can immediately taste the heritage and passion behind the recipes — from slow-cooked meats to delicate vegetable stews and perfectly balanced spices, it’s a culinary journey through time. The service was impeccable — attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always ready to recommend something special. The staff’s care really elevates the dining experience and makes you feel like an honored guest. What makes Hünkar stand out even more is its well-earned recognition — the restaurant has received numerous culinary awards and has long been regarded as one of Istanbul’s top fine dining establishments. Hünkar is a must-visit for anyone who wants to explore rich Turkish flavors in a refined and authentic setting. A five-star experience through and through — I’ll definitely be coming back!

Pros: nice place, excellent service, good food, Nisantisa Cons: prices are maybe 3x what you can get elsewhere. Although very good not 3x price.
Honra T — Google review
This is an overhyped below-average “esnaf lokantası” dressed up for Nişantaşı’s posh crowd, who ridiculously romanticize “ev yemeği” without ever knowing what real home cooking tastes like. I tried this place after hearing all the buzz, but left seriously disappointed. It absolutely is not worth the high prices. Nothing felt special or authentic, just very basic (and salty) dishes with a fancy price tag. The service was downright intrusive. Waiters annoyingly hovered around our table the entire time, many times trying to take our plates before we finished (even after we told them not to). They ended up removing several dishes that weren’t even done. It felt rushed, disrespectful and uncomfortable. Overall, we had an unpleasant experience… Definitely not recommended unless you want to overpay for mediocrity and be pressured to leave before your meal’s even over. It’s designed for those Nişantaşı snobs…

This is a fancy local canteen. Most places I've tried were tourist traps, where I couldn't justify the prices for very basic food. But this place offers high-quality local dishes at very good prices. Highly recommended! Besides me there were no tourists, but a proper local audience

If you're wandering through Istanbul and craving a taste of authentic Turkish street food, look no further than Kirvem Kebap Tantuni & Döner. Originating from the coastal city of Mersin, tantuni is a delightful dish featuring tender chunks of beef or chicken stir-fried to perfection. Served in a wrap or sandwich format, it’s typically garnished with fresh tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and parsley for that extra burst of flavor.
On the last day of my stay in Istanbul, I bought a Chicken Döner from Kirvem Tantuni & Döner to eat on the way home the next day. It was delicious, despite the fact that I didn't eat it when it was warm🥪 (I added some photos under the review). The chicken itself was delicious, the composition was super tasty and the special sauce was incredible, I loved it! ❤️ The restaurant is small, but very cozy and comfortable, and the atmosphere is very homely! The staff speaks English and is also very friendly and kind! I'd love to come back one day for another taste! Lots of love from Romania 🇷🇴🤝🇹🇷

The taste, quantity and cost are usually satisfactory. We ate take-out with our 3 year old son as our evening meal. The kebabs were good, but nothing special, just like the rest of the restaurant. On the other hand, I do not recommend the sandwich with potatoes at all. The fries are not fresh, the sauce is weak, and the bread is not good.

10/10 The best restaurant in Istanbul! I highly recommend this restaurant. Not only was the food incredible, but the hospitality was just as amazing. A quick meal while shopping, I opted for a standard doner in bread. It could have used a bit more meat as the portion seemed a bit small. However, I believe this is quite typical for restaurants of this kind in Istanbul.

Treated with kindness. Döner wrap & künefe was lovely. Provided with a couple of complimentary teas to finish. Saw a previous reviewer mentioning controversy when paying with card. Just pay with cash, please. Best to do that pretty much everywhere in the country. Do the people a favour. Taxation and inflation sucks here, have a look at how much has changed in the last 3 years. Educating oneself does wonders. Thanks for a nice meal.

For travelers, I never recommend this restaurant. My dinner price is 800TL, but I should pay more. Taste was not that special. Ingredients were not that fresh. But worst of all, he asked me more money than that I ate. I ordered 360, 310, 130 food in total 800TL. And he show me the bill written in 800TL. When I give him 165 by cash, and the other 635 by card, he suddenly told me that if I use the card I should pay the 10% taxes. So he asked me to pay 700 by card.(Even it’s more than 10%.) So I paid 865TL in total, even though I ate 800TL. I’ve never been asked to pay 10% taxes when I used the card in turkey. After that, we complained about that. So he gave us 30TL, even though we should get back 65TL. So, travelers, be care-full.

The best menemen I had in the old city. Very close to the Grand Bazaar and great place for a quick breakfast before your long day of shopping or sightseeing. Service was quick and they take credit card to make things easy for me.

As local as it gets. We got the ones with turkish sausage and meat (beef I think). Food was authentic and delicious though it’s not at the best environment (dined at the side of the road, dusty conditions)

Balık ekmek, which translates to "fish bread," is a beloved street food that captures the essence of Istanbul's culinary scene. This delightful sandwich features grilled fish, often mackerel, nestled in a soft half-loaf of white bread and garnished with fresh raw onions and crisp lettuce. You can find this tasty treat at numerous vendors along the bustling Eminonu area and on boats moored near Galata Bridge.
We found this amazing place hidden in the corner. The grilled bread and the fish with vegetables was so delicious. There was no skeleton inside the fish too. They have pickle juice too! I think this place is much better than the usual vessels serving balık ekmek when you first come to Eminönü.

Çiya Sofrası is a charming restaurant located on the Asian side of Istanbul, offering home-style regional Turkish cuisine. The restaurant spans three floors and features a rooftop terrace for diners to enjoy. Owner-chef Musa Dagdeviren has curated a menu that showcases unique regional dishes from around Turkey, many of which are not commonly found elsewhere. The menu changes with the seasons, featuring specialties like a springtime meat stew cooked with unripe green plums.
Absolutely loved my experience at Çiya Sofrası! The food was incredible - fresh, flavorful, and full of variety - and the service was just as impressive: warm, attentive, and welcoming. I didn’t go during peak hours, which made it even more enjoyable to savor everything at a relaxed pace. Truly one of the best meals I’ve had in Istanbul. Can’t wait to come back!
Mez D — Google review
The food is definitely the best part of Çiya. I found the service to be pleasant for the most part but there was a girl working there who kept smirking and was obviously talking about me in Turkish to her colleague which felt quite unprofessional and immature. It’s great that they serve such a broad range of regional dishes and showcase that Turkish food is about far more than kebabs and pide. I highly recommend the stewed aubergine with tomato, it’s truly gorgeous. Best to go in a group as Turkish food is definitely meant for sharing! Eating alone is not easy when it comes to portions, however they kindly served half portions in my case.

One of the best Turkish food I’ve had in the last week! The chicken thigh kebab was juicy and yet char grilled with excellent flavours! The lamb casserole in tomato base sauce was soft and tender, the aubergine and minced meat kebab was to die for! They served us complimentary Turkish tea at the end of the meal!

Really great kebab spot! The place is super clean and has a nice atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly, and the food came out fresh. The meat was juicy, tender, and full of flavor — everything was perfect. A bit pricy, but still totally worth it. Definitely recommend if you’re craving good kebabs in Istanbul!

Great spot for Turkish food at a fair price. The menu focuses on classic kebabs and mezes, all made with fresh ingredients and served in generous portions. The laid back outdoor seating makes it perfect for a relaxed meal. I had the Acılı Kıyma Kebap (625 lira) and Ayran (80 lira) not a bad price for a tasty dinner. Highly recommend if you want authentic flavours without spending too much.

Don’t know what the hype is about this place. The only food that’s decent was the soup. We ordered Kofte and lamb with green beans. Only got three tiny pieces of lamb and a whole damn bowl of beans. Paid 450 lira for that bowl of beans 🫠😵‍💫 No thanks.

Went because of the hype the Netflix show Chefs Table caused and I had a great experience. The food was very savory. It was unique flavors I had never tasted before and was not what I was expecting. The baklava was the best I have ever tasted. It was very flaky and melted in my mouth. Our host was very hospitable and kind and explained this entire menu to us. I will eat there again when I visit Istanbul.

Simit Cafe is a popular spot in Turkey known for serving the country's version of bagels, called simit. These circular sesame-crusted breads are made from a simple dough of flour, water, yeast, and salt. They are then dipped in a mixture of water and molasses, covered in sesame seeds, and baked until fluffy on the inside with a golden brown crust.
Honestly the best gozleme with potato filling I've had. Got to see it being made fresh and also got to sit on some traditional Turkish seating on the floor. Ahmed was serving us, he was very helpful and advised to what to eat. I really enjoyed it and would definitely eat here again and recommend.

I only ordered Simit and some other Turkish dough that taste like orange. It was descent but not too great. I thought that I might paid too much. Nevertheless the place it self was proper and I sat upstairs/ outside, so I could watch people walking outside. It was nice that people are not allowed to smoke at the balcony although some locals still did it and pretend did not read the sign, sigh ….

A nice and cozy cafe with a view of the tramway passing right in front. You can watch as bread and Gözleme are freshly prepared by a charming old lady, adding a cute touch to the experience. Everything served is fresh and tasty, offering a truly traditional feel. It’s a great spot for an authentic, old Turkish-style breakfast and snacks. They also offer kebabs, though I didn’t try them this time

One of the most welcoming places I have been to. Their kitchen was spick and span and in fact makes for a great viewing on preparation of your order. The best Pide in Istanbul. Don’t be a tourist and eat at overly priced restaurants, where you can’t taste the real flavours of Turkish dishes. Gaziantep Közde Künefe Kebap Salonu is a charming restaurant that specializes in serving authentic charcoal-cooked Kunefe, a sweet pastry filled with cheese. This is about to be a wild take, but this was the BEST meal I had in all of Istanbul! That statement carries a lot of weight, but omg was this spot ever authentic and delicious. The Adana kebap platter was served with perfectly cooked and seasoned Adana. The lamb heart was not chewy and delicious. And the soup and hot side is salsa was spectacular. I gotta say this was the only place that has food with some heat 🌶️. The beyran is very flavorful too. It’s very unassuming but I highly recommend you give it a try. All the attention has gone to the food here and it’s exceptional. Located in a perfect spot to access by everyone too. Don’t sleep on it. Abs make sure to get the künefe, it’ll change your life.

Don’t be put off by the low key style as looks can be deceiving- especially as a first time tourist in Istanbul - but this came recommended and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. The Beyran soup was spicier than I expected but it was delicious. For some reason this place seemed popular with Asians who were the only diners whilst we were there.

Stumbled across this restaurant searching for Kalle Paça soup and found it here. Delicious, filling and warm. Perfect for winter days to warm you up. The soup is made up of cow head meat and it's bone broth. Also had deliciously fresh ayran, extra salty just how I prefer. Would recommend this place and definitely would come back when I'm back in Istanbul.
Maryam M — Google review
This was our first dinner in Istanbul, just down the street from our hotel, and it ended up being my favorite place to eat. I got the spicy Adana kebab and wow… it was sooo good. Perfectly spiced, with this amazing sauce, fresh bread, onions, lettuce, and bulgur on the side. The only downside is that it's near a construction site and every so often construction dust would fly through the air. I suggest you eat inside. Price was fair too, especially since it’s right in Sultanahmet. We liked it so much we came back 3 times. The owner is super nice and welcoming. Don’t miss this place.
Jamie F — Google review
Quietly amazing!! If I could give the food six stars I would. This unassuming establishment serves kebab, soup, and kunefe that sets your heart racing with excitement as you eat - it's hard to find words that capture how perfectly these dishes are executed. And the ayran deserves a special frothy mention too...just look at the photo, it's a must-try! Safe to say, no food on that table survived to see the light of day. Incredible! Will definitely circle back for another sitting!

🥘 A cozy spot in the heart of Istanbul serving authentic Gaziantep flavors. The kebabs are tasty and well-portioned. 🌍 Interestingly, most of the customers are foreign — especially Korean tourists who line up just to enjoy the traditional kelle paça (head & foot soup). 🍲 Honestly, their kelle paça is one of the best in Istanbul. The texture of the meat, spice balance, and warm serving are all perfect. 🔥 The place is simple but clean and authentic — great for both dinner and a hearty soup breakfast.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants we have visited together over the past few years! Incredibly designed place tucked away up a staircase up an elevator and up another staircase. Can’t say enough good things about the mushroom/potato appetizer, the grilled sea bass, and the loin/meatball entree...can’t wait to go back
Executive T — Google review
Very poor experience! I highly advise against it. We went there for New Year's, and we paid 100€/ adult and 75€/ child, including a 5 years old. The menu promised included 4 courses: an appetiser, shrimps with some sauce, a pastry and a main course + New Year's special dessert, and unlimited soft and alcoholic drinks. We got an appetiser with 5 spoons of different dishes, one pastry they put with a claw on each plate, the shrimps were half of baby shrimp for each person and the main course which was a piece of overcooked meat with some bad sauce and a lot of rice. The special desert was a small pastry filled with halva. The unlimited drinks were wine, vodka tonic, gin tonic, still and sparkling water, lipton ice tea, and Sprite. They ran out of tonic, wine, and sparkling water by 11:00 PM and tried to charge us for extra wine and sparkling water. At midnight, they gave us a bottle of proseco for 15 people and tried to charge us 300€ for it, even if it was included. All though there were plenty of English speaking waiters, we got one that couldn't understand one word of English. We gave him a tip of 100 €, and at the end, another waiter who was drunk and had nothing to do with our table came begging for money and cigarettes. For entertainment, there was a belly dancer who wouldn't leave until all the men paid her

The starters we got were delicious yet they did forget one. We got the mixed grilled meats, steak was cold and over cooked but rest were really good. Most of the cocktails on the menu and the whiskeys they did not have and the wine they served us was burnt. And service was rushed and pretty poor. View was amazing!! Also worth noting it is not in this location that it shows on google maps. It is up the hill.
Terrence D — Google review
Really wanted to like this place. Sadly the food was overpriced and bad. I ordered the Seafood Pasta. It was so overcooked the noodles tasted like instant noodles. The prawns were the frozen type and the squid was not fresh at all. I didn't finish my main meal. And what was most upsetting was that there were barely any ingredients in a dish that cost over 400 turkish lira. Furthermore, the cover charge was 95 Lira per pax but the bread served was stale. The service charge was a mandatory 10% even though the service was just okay. They were welcoming and polite but clearly didn't care how poor the quality of the food was. The only thing that was nice was the view. But with a couple smoking right next to the window it was not a great place to sit either. The music - some Turkish dance pop - was way too loud and didn't have the right vibe. They were trying to make it more of a place to drink than eat somehow which doesn't seem right. The building itself was old. To get to the top you need to take the lift / stairs but the lift wasn't working and the lights were off. Imagine going down stairs in darkness. Overall it was a huge disappointment and unfortunately I would not recommend anyone to come here. Save your wallet and stomach the hassle and avoid this place ! You'll feel better for it.
Liyin S — Google review
Absolute disaster – avoid at all costs! We came to what looked like a promising restaurant with a beautiful view, but the experience was appalling from start to finish. The entire place was run by one single person – the cook, the barman, the DJ, the waiter – all in one. We were the only customers, and it quickly became obvious why. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and everything was clearly frozen food. The taste was utterly disappointing. To make matters worse, the restaurant’s payment system completely crashed, making the whole process painfully slow and frustrating (and with the intention of pushing us to pay by cash). Great view, yes – but absolutely not worth wasting your time or money here. The worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Istanbul.
Solène M — Google review
*Do not recommend* Would give zero stars if I could. The waiters are completely disinterested. But why would they with a automatic 10% service charge? The hummus was tasteless, and the lamb had the consistency of cardboard and tasted the same. Overpriced, overcooked, underseasoned, this was possibly the worst meal I've had in Istambul. Other than the view, do avoid this place. We were drawn to it from the reviews but failed to check that most were from 5 years ago. Avoid at all costs.

Its a gorgeous setting and we had a great experience. The reason I gave 4 stars is that the food is good but not amazing. Service was very attentive and we had a great table by the edge with incredible views. The food was nice and fresh, but I have had better food in Istanbul. Go for the view for sure. The price is also reasonable. It was $150 USD for 4 of us with lots of food and wine. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Make a reservation if you can for the best views.

It’s a scam! Run away !! Apparently the restaurant had different owner! The name its not Leb-i Derya anymore its called Endam They tried to scam us by adding more dishes to the bill. be Aware!!!! Most of the items on the menu are not available The only positive thing is the view! Update: 🔴 This is an honest review If you have been operating under Endam then change the name on google map don’t live on someone else legacy !! We didn’t order the smoked salmon though it was add to our bill! They are big scammers check the bill and the quantities of the items .

Nestled in a quiet street just off the bustling Bagdat Avenue, Nazende Cadde is a hidden gem that has recently gained popularity among Istanbul's food enthusiasts. This Mediterranean restaurant is known for its exceptional offal dishes such as grilled sweetbreads, tripe stew, and kid liver, but the highlight is undoubtedly the tender baby calamari. The ambiance exudes a laid-back and private atmosphere while offering excellent service.
One of the best meals I have had in Turkey… beautiful atmosphere with impeccable service - our waiter Engin was amazing! The food is delicious and true to its roots and culture, unique yet grounded in tradition. I feel privileged to eat here and I will be back again and again. Couldn’t recommend this more. Thank you Nazende for an unforgettable night

This is a highly acclaimed place and we couldn’t wait to try it. It’s located in backstreets of a neighborhood which is more quiet than being on the Main Street. This makes for a more relaxed experience. We watched other tables and only saw people just relishing in what they were eating. Service was slightly slow but we like taking our time so at first it didn’t bother us. Maybe it’s the way they serve dishes or approach to serving but we received each dish alone and spaced very apart. We had asked the first two dishes to come together but they didn’t. The food is of high quality and well made but the way it was served didn’t help make for an enjoyable dinner. The last dish came so late we had to ask about if it was coming after waiting a really long time. We didn’t order anything else even though we would have eaten more, because we didn’t know how much longer each dish would take. Cost wise this is an expensive place as it’s highly reviewed. Included a photo of the bill as a sample. Might go again to give it another try since the food was good and so much to try.

Without any exaggeration they’re in the top 3 in the whole country. Food quality, service, everything is just great. But more than that, it feels like eating at home and that’s something you can’t put a price on.

Hands down the best restaurant in Istanbul! The goat (oglak) was the G.O.A.T. of the night, incredible sardine, calamari! A unique spot with incredible seafood and meat dishes at the same time! Our host Ahmet was the best host ever! 100% visiting again!

Definitely above average for a restaurant in istanbul. Considering mikla has one michelin star, i dont see a reason why nazende shouldnt have one if they achieve consistency. I particularly recommend kokorec. Lahmacun was also good. Lastly, they must have lost their minds charging 5 times more than the supermarket price for raki. Im drinking nothing but water next time.

We’ve been to Nazende Caddebostan more times than I can count, and not once have I left disappointed. Every single dish is excellent — I genuinely can’t think of a single one that made me say “it was okay.” Maybe that’s why we always forget to take photos; everything is so delicious that we dive right in the moment it hits the table. We always order a variety of dishes to share. If you love offal, you’re in for a treat — every single one is perfectly cooked. The lamb shoulder and tandoori with firik pilav are absolute musts. Don’t skip the tomato salad with verjuice (koruk ekşisi); it’s the perfect start to balance the richness of the mains. We’ve never left without ordering kokoreç to share. This time we also tried the baby goat meatballs (oğlak köftesi) for the first time — incredible! Another favorite we always go back to is the Nazende crispy pizza with cured meat and mushrooms, which is simply addictive. You’ll also see the crispy phyllo pastry with pastrami on almost every table — and for a good reason, it’s a classic. Even the unexpected items surprise you — like the rooster soup (horoz çorbası). One person in our group ordered it, and we all ended up tasting it; none of us expected to like it, yet it turned out surprisingly good. We’ve been here with different groups of friends, but the “sharing everything” approach always works best. If your group is up for it, definitely go for shared plates — it’s the best way to enjoy the experience. Mezes change every time, but they’re always fresh and delicious. You don’t need to overdo it with starters; save some room for all the rich mains. Today we went a little overboard with four mezes, and by the time the offal, meat, and fish arrived, we were already full. You might spot our bottle in the Müdavimler Köşesi (Regulars’ Corner) — a small corner where loyal guests keep a bottle or two. Once you fall in love with this place, you’ll understand why people keep coming back; you actually start missing the flavors after a while. Cleanliness is always top-notch, and the service is perfectly timed — nothing rushes to your table, yet you never wait too long. You get to enjoy each flavor one at a time. If you’re like us and still go for dessert after all that food, stick to something light. We usually end with crème brûlée and coconut ice cream, both great options to finish on a fresh note. Everyone is always incredibly kind and knowledgeable — you’ll never hear “I’m not sure, let me check” when you ask about the menu. They always know the dishes well and give the best recommendations. One very important tip: if your reservation is for a late hour, make sure to reserve your favorite offal dishes in advance — they sell out fast. We’ve even called ahead in the morning before. Good things don’t last long here, and that’s part of the charm. Next time, I’ll make sure to take photos and update this review — it’s the least I can do for such a fantastic place. Highly recommend. Afiyet olsun — hope this review helps!

Nazenda Cadde is one of those rare Istanbul finds that makes you cheer enthusiastically as every plate arrives at the table. It hums with an easy, confident energy of people having a genuinely good time. The menu reads like a familiar story told by a witty new friend: dishes you think you know are given sly, imaginative twists that somehow make perfect sense. The messe selections feel like the happy union of a Michelin chef with your grandmother’s cherished secret recipe. Around me, every table seems mid-celebration — strangers clinking glasses, staff darting about with the joy of people who like what they serve nad want to share it with the world . I loved it and definitely worth the battle with rush hour Istanbul traffic to get there.
David S — Google review
Overall high quality ingredients accompanied by good cooking techniques. I've tried several dishes including, tomato salad, fried liver on beğendi base (smoked eggplant, milk, flour), lahmacun, stuffed pastry (Avcı Böreği), zucchini tempura and pan fried sweetbread. My personal favourite was the liver. The eggplant base was delicious and the liver fried to perfection. A masterpiece dish. Lahmacun was also quite good, ground meat from lamb ribs mixed with vegetables. Slightly unbalanced due to the sweetness of the tomatoes. A touch of acidity, saltiness or spice could have solved it. Zucchini tempura was also delicious, dipped in a thin layer of batter and fried in high heat. Almost zero leftover oil. Very well done. Pan fried sweetbread was also cooked quite well and the quality of the ingredients were also good. Tomato salad was my least favourite because of two reasons. Verjuice was used therefore the salad was a bit too acidic. Now it is tomato season and I would expect a tastier tomato compared to the rest of the ingredients. Could be a bit noisy since the restaurant is always almost full. Definitely worth a try. Will definitely visit again.

do not go there ! the waiter is part of a robber group!I attached a photo of him ! i was walking with my family at around 8 pm in front of this restaurant heading toward Sifhane sokak when we recognised a car following us. We stopped and turned back to drink a coffe at this restaurant just to wait for the robbers to go away . At the moment some of the robbers came just next to us talking to the waiter as if they were friends . We asked the waiter to call a taxi for us but he said that : taxies can not come here. Then i called the hotel to ask for a shuttle and i let the waiter explain them our location. The waiter told us that we had to go through Sifhane sokak and then we would find our shuttle waiting for us there luckily we did not go through that street because we knew they were going to rob us later at the hotel i found out that the waiter had just asked the hotel about the location of our hotel. NOT ABOUT THE SHUTTLE . so the waiter was part of the robbers. They wanted to know our rout. they just wanted to get us trapped to steal every bag we had.

Balik ekmek, also known as fish bread, is a popular street food in Istanbul. It consists of grilled fish, usually mackerel, stuffed into a half-loaf of white bread and topped with raw onions and lettuce. This affordable and delicious sandwich can be found at food carts or boats in the Eminonu neighborhood near the Galata Bridge. Istanbul's diverse culinary scene offers a variety of foods from different Turkish cultures, including healthy grilled dishes.
Delicious and inexpensive, but a bit hard to find. A family literally cooks and sells directly on their boat. There are tables and stools on the docks. Not a ton of fish, but at less than $2, you can order two.

Went to this place after a great YouTube review. Worst fish I’ve eaten in my life. People kept accosting us to go to their place instead. People at the register were polite. Food was immediately served. It doesn’t come with any sauce or anything really. As basic as it could be with cheap furniture. The nasty fish smell didn’t go away for a few hours after

This place is more a fast food than a restaurant. Nevertheless the hamsi and the salad were quite good and they served them quite fast. They don't server any alcohol, just water and soft drinks. One important negative point: the toilet is very very dirty.
Radu C — Google review
Balik ekmek, a good experience around Eminonu. A bit too crowded and it does smell like fish a bit too much, but it’s still a fun one to try.
Fatima M — Google review
Look how much bread is left after eating my fish! ₺15 or USD 1.76 gets you a grilled mackerel fillet on white bread w onions + lettuce. Honestly the fish was the only decent part of my balık ekmek. Very dry sandwich. He made a show of the grill but the fish is not even warm. Bread was dry + cold also. P.S. İ hear the mackerel is imported from Norway, so not even local. Womp womp. İ think they are more interested in feeding the birds than humans.

ANADOLU DÖNER İSKENDER VE KEBAP SALONU is a small restaurant located near the Grand Bazaar, offering delicious doner kebabs made from slowly roasted chicken or meat served in Turkish white bread with a variety of fresh vegetables and sauces. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the area. The friendly staff provides fast service and a welcoming atmosphere.
We had the most incredible experience at this family-owned Turkish restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the lively and welcoming atmosphere made us feel like part of the family. The energy in the room — the music, the laughter, the aromas coming from the kitchen — all set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavor and prepared with so much heart. You can truly taste the tradition and care in every bite. The staff were warm, attentive, and eager to make sure we enjoyed every moment. This wasn’t just a meal — it was a celebration. Between the delicious food, the fun vibe, and the genuine hospitality, it easily became one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. If you’re in the area, this spot is an absolute must. I discovered this restaurant through a YouTube video by a local guide and saved it as a place to try for authentic local food. Unfortunately, my visit didn’t quite meet my expectations. I ordered the Portion Döner, but the meat and fried potatoes seemed like it had been sitting for a while - it was dry. I’m actually glad I didn’t go for the Iskender kebab, since it likely would’ve used the same meat. On the positive side, the portion size was generous, and the sides and fresh salad were good. The service was attentive, so no complaints there. I didn’t get to try other dishes, but it might still be worth giving the restaurant a shot

If you find yourself wandering through the bustling streets of Istanbul and craving a light yet satisfying meal, Nuruosmaniye Dürümcüsü is an absolute must-visit. Unlike many tourist traps that serve overpriced meals, this spot offers authentic flavors at budget-friendly prices. The atmosphere is refreshingly local, making it a perfect escape from the more commercial dining options nearby.
If you’re looking for a great tasting and inexpensive food option in this very touristy area, this is the place. The adana kebab was delicious and the service was excellent. Most of the “formal” sit down restaurants in this area are over priced, pushy, and full of fake reviews — this is one of the few places we felt was really a local spot that gave us the cheap and delicious kebab we were looking for.

Super bad service. Very impolite and rude. We asked explicitly that we wanted beef, because we dont like lamb. After being asured that if was beef, we got it and it tasted a lot like lamb. When in Istanbul, you inevitably taste a lot of Turkish delight, but nothing comes close to the perfection at Dilseker. I first stumbled upon this gem in September 2023 and thought I'd discovered the best Turkish delight in the city. That belief was confirmed when I returned in August 2025. Two years and countless tastings later, Dilseker easily still stands out above everywhere else. The flavours are distinct and you can taste the quality of the ingredients in every piece. Really glad we found this lokum shop, it deserves more attention! - Pomegranate pistachio lokum: tastes like real pomegranate not the gum-like flavour I got from other famous chains. The sourness makes it less sweet, which is perfect if you don’t like overly sugary lokum. Highly recommend this flavour. - Service: staff were friendly, let us try different flavours, and even showed the box weight before packing so you know you’re paying only for the lokum, not the box. - Atmosphere: much less crowded than other famous chains, so staff had more time and patience. - Price: noticeably lower compared to other famous chains. Overall, a great find – worth stopping by if you want quality lokum without the touristy chaos

I just walked into this place after I couldn't figure out how much the baklava were being sold in Hafiz Mustafa down the road. This place is clean, hygienic and most of all there are prices written down in front of their baklavas. While my baklavas were getting packed I decided to try their helva. They sell two types. 1. I returned to eat this for 3 days until I was in Turkey. When I return to Istanbul, I would definitely come back here.

The best turkish sweets i have tasted in my life. Especially the pista and rose petal sweet. Little expensive but worth each penny. The staff were amazing and gave samples to whatever u asked for.

Dessert shop
Cennet Baklava is a delightful Turkish pastry that has captured the hearts of dessert lovers everywhere. This iconic treat features layers of flaky filo pastry filled with crushed nuts, typically pistachios or walnuts, and generously soaked in a sweet syrup made from sugar and water. It's not just a dessert; it's a staple at weddings, parties, and casual gatherings across Turkey.
The only shop where you can find amazing fresh spices, Turkish delights, original Turkish baklava and the most beautiful souvenirs, most importantly, it is located in a very central place with very reasonable prices.
Ercan D — Google review
Souvenir shopping in Istanbul can be a bit overwhelming, especially in areas like the Egyptian Spice Bazaar, where sellers often push hard to get your attention. That’s why this particular shop stood out. I bought five different teas and some almond-filled Turkish delight rolls to bring back home to Denmark. The man working there was friendly and polite without being pushy, which made the whole experience much more pleasant. We were given a few samples of the things we were actually interested in, and unlike many other places, he didn’t pressure us to buy more. Even as we approached the shop, there was no shouting or attempts to pull us inside which was why we decided to enter. The prices were also very fair. I checked a few other stalls in the bazaar, and some were asking two to three times the price for the same teas. I’d definitely recommend this shop. 5/5 stars.
Anne L — Google review
This is a wonderful shop! The spices are top-notch, the prices are very affordable, and they have a lovely selection of tea choices. It's truly a great bargain for the quality you receive. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff—they are incredibly courteous and accommodating. This shop is highly recommended if you want to find a peaceful, high-quality haven away from the hustle and noise of the Grand Bazaar!
E C — Google review
Lovely store! I bought a little of everything powdered tea, medicinal herbs, soaps, coffee, dried fruit etc. Muhammad was my nice young salesman who was gracious attentive and knowledgeable without being pushy. It was my last day in Istanbul and a great place to buy some gifts. I highly recommend this store.
April L — Google review
A shop where you will be enchanted by Turkish sweets. Delicious, which every tourist should definitely try.I can share with you one of the most delicious baklava.
Tea B — Google review
Don't purchase from this store. I bought some lokum and discovered worms inside the next day. This shop must be shut down. I have forwarded the photos to Turkish authorities. The seller says this is because their lokum is organic, what a joke!!
Ali A — Google review
One of the worst experiences in Istanbul. First, when I arrived, the person who served me said there were only two Turkish Delight boxes to choose from (both giant). I chose the smaller one because it was for my husband. Then the guy told me he couldn't cut the rolls for me, I'd have to buy them whole. So, instead of having variety, I opted for just one roll. Then the attendant changed his mind and said he could. I recommend it to anyone who wants to buy Turkish Delights; just cross the street and go to the regular supermarket; the price is half. What's tiresome in Istanbul is people trying to take advantage of foreigners all the time, the city is super beautiful but the people in the tourist zones are just disappointing.
Tainá E — Google review
Tourist trap - avoid at all costs. Lied straight to my face about “sugar-free, stevia-only” tea (tests at home showed plain sugar), then charged $180 for trinkets worth pocket change. While I was there, another family complained of being cheated; a clerk said “Palestinians” as an excuse. Dishonest, overpriced, and openly prejudiced—avoid.

Çarşı Baklava is a renowned Turkish dessert that has gained worldwide popularity. It features layers of delicate phyllo pastry generously filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey or syrup. This culinary masterpiece is celebrated for its rich flavors and exquisite texture. Visitors can indulge in this delectable treat, often made with an abundance of pistachios, at various local establishments.
Finally found the cheapest pistachio. Roasted , half kg for 100 something. Salty & fresh. No discount but you can ask the water for free. At other store it will be around 600- 850TL / kg

What a pity! Charged us 150 Turkish lira for 4 small baklava and 2 small cups of tea!!! A SCAM!!!! They sell an entire small box of baklava at the same price in a shop close by that also sells Turkish delights! They offered baklava for free in that shop. You can see from the reviews that they charge a different price for tourists to SCAM them!!! Shame shame shame! This thought me to ask for the price before eating ...A GLORIOUS FAT SCAM!!!!
Sophia L — Google review
I paid 400TL for these 4 pieces. Do with that information as you will 😂

Got two pieces of baklava for 30 lire. Quality was okay, pistachios were good. Nothing special or noteworthy, definitely better than baklava in the states, but I’ve had better baklava elsewhere around Turkey.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Istanbul, Sedan Cafe & Borek Salonu is a delightful spot to indulge in traditional Ottoman cuisine. Here, you can savor the exquisite borek, a beloved savory pastry made from delicate layers of yufka dough filled with an array of delicious ingredients like cheese, spinach, and minced meat.
Went here for breakfast and tried their meat, spinach and cheese boreks. It was very tasty, ordered two more portions! A great spot for a breakfast or early afternoon snack.

VEFA'nın Dondurması & Waffle offers a unique ice cream experience with its traditional Ottoman garb-clad vendors engaging in playful antics while serving the legendary tasting ice cream. Made from real fruit, the products boast authentic flavors and high quality. The newly opened venue also features terraces with stunning views.
My first dondurma in Türkiye, it’s very delicious and flavourful! I think the fruit flavors are more like sorbet, and the traditional flavors like chocolate have that interesting creamy and stretchy texture. Owner is very nice and prices are very fair - 50TL per scoop! Definitely stop by for some if you’re in the area! Also - there’s a nice rooftop terrace where you can enjoy your treat :)

The best waffle I’ve ever had! The rest of the menu is equally impressive, with a great variety of well-prepared desserts. Prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistently high. A must-visit spot for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Great ice cream, you can taste and choose what you like the most. The surprise was the terrace on the 4th floor, we enjoyed the view. We also ordered the coffee, but unfortunately only Nest Caffe was available. Otherwise it is a hidden gem off the main public traffic.

When wandering the vibrant streets of Istanbul, one must indulge in the delightful experience of savoring Köfte. This traditional Turkish dish comes alive in various forms, with the iconic köfte ekmek sandwich standing out as a local favorite. Picture this: succulent grilled köfte nestled within fresh bread, accompanied by crisp onions, fragrant parsley, and juicy tomatoes—it's a culinary delight that rivals any Italian meatball sub.
An unexpected surprise. The food was amazing and cheap and made fresh right in front of us. Family run. Full of locals eating. Friendly staff. One of our favourite Turkish dining experiences.
