Cafe
Nestled in the charming streets of Karakoy/Galata, Mum's Cafe stands out for its warm and inviting atmosphere. The cafe is run by a mother-daughter duo from Sweden, where 'Mums' means flavor, reflecting in their unique menu offerings like the prawn sandwich called Raksmorgas.
I ordered the egg sando with avocado and roast beef, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. I also had a cold white iced mocha, which was the perfect refreshing touch alongside the meal. The atmosphere and vibes of the place were amazing—relaxed, stylish, and perfect for a laid-back morning. The only downside was that the food took a while to arrive, but it was well worth the wait once it did.

Mum’s Cafe – A Hidden Gem! If you’re looking for a cozy spot with comforting food, Mum’s Cafe is a must-visit. Their Eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious — perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and a toasted base that tied it all together. It’s a standout on the menu and definitely a must-try for breakfast and brunch lovers. Warm atmosphere, friendly service, and food that feels like home!

Visited in August 2025. Turkey 🇹🇷 Istanbul. Mums Cafe popped up during our stroll while hunting for a European-style breakfast—something that’s surprisingly tough to find in Istanbul—with its intriguing menu catching our eye. It’s a small but cozy spot, complete with outdoor tables for a pleasant sit. FOOD: They offer European breakfast vibes, featuring various egg dishes, sandwiches, and toasts. We each picked a plate, but sadly, the flavors fell flat and mediocre. The potato, sausage, and scrambled eggs combo was overly greasy, spiced only with black pepper—no salt or real balance, making it feel one-note and uninspired. The avocado toast with shrimp was even more disappointing: the bread was stale and far from fresh, not even toasted to a crisp—it was tough to chew; the shrimp lacked any flavor, just a bland boiled texture that killed the appetite; the greens were wilted and drowned in mayo (why?); and the spices overall were way off-kilter. SERVICE: The service was pretty lackluster—waiters struggled with English, and it basically boiled down to just dropping off the dishes at the table. VERDICT: Unfortunately, with slim pickings for breakfasts in Istanbul and getting weary of the local Turkish ones, our quest for something fresh led to an even bigger letdown (prices above average too)—I’d skip wasting time and money here, no recommendation from me.
Olga M — Google review
The place is lovely, small, and cozy, with nice outdoor seating as well. The indoor area is intimate and welcoming. The staff were great—especially the waitress Oznur, who was so sweet with my daughter. We ordered a hazelnut latte and Turkish tea—the latte was average, and the tea too. We also had an omelet with feta cheese and herbs, served with a slice of sourdough bread. The portion was big enough to satisfy the three of us. We tried the pancake tower as well, and it was delicious—light, with just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, the café is wonderful, and I truly recommend it!
Asmahan A — Google review
Mum‘s Cafe has been by far, our best culinary experience in Istanbul. We have returned every morning of our trip after discovering it via google on our 2nd day. The staff are wonderfully polite, friendly and thoughtful. Sayid took great care of us on a rainy day and ensured to keep us well topped up with Turkish tea. We highly recommend the butter beef sandwich and pancakes — but everything we tried was excellent. The chefs here have a gift and every bite was filled with flavour! We have been imploring them to open a cafe in London!

Highly recommended, good place to eat delicious breakfast , they serve different dishes Turkish and European
Lama A — Google review
We lovedd the food, we got the spicy shrimp, poached eggs, french toast & the pancakes, the spicy shrimp was amazing however it had way too little shrimp, and the poached egg toast was good, the deserts however weren’t that great the french toast was too dry abd the pancakes were too thick and not moist

Cafe
Peynir Ekmek Cafe&Kahvaltı is a charming spot located on the breakfast street of Besiktas, offering a delightful breakfast experience. What sets this cafe apart is its focus on cheese, making it a unique choice among other establishments in the area. The menu features delicious options such as sucuk and scrambled eggs with potatoes, accompanied by unlimited cay. Visitors praise the friendly staff and generous portions, leaving with both satisfied bellies and happy souls.
Pretty good Turkish breakfast in a busy little street for breakfast spots in town. Foods were well done and good quality, tables are a bit small but it has some charm and lovely atmosphere. Also we had the 'small' menu option for an amazing price and was still very filling, would come back:)

A complete scam. We ordered breakfast for two, but were served breakfast for one. As for the bill, we paid double.

Delicious! Our first breakfast in Istanbul, and what a spread! Every bite was delicious, and the orange juice was some of the best I’ve ever had. Definitely stop by hungry, there’s a lot of food and all of it is amazing.

The service was absolutely amazing Ferdi was very polite and making sure we were comfortable. He went above and beyond, Aysegul is amazing, she generously offering us tea every time our cups were empty. Truly an excellent experience, and I’ll definitely come back again!

The worst experience of the day! We got scammed! I dıdn't ask for the tea and they just came very often and offer you the tea. But when they serve it, they are just cheating you! It is not for free! You have to pay every single cup you drink. Finally, I just payed for something I dıdn't order.

Journey is a popular cafe located in the bohemian Cihangir neighborhood, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The cafe features a delightful communal table on the second floor, making it a haven for freelancers. Guests can enjoy delicious homemade pasta dishes and Turkish staples like kofte. The menu includes organic buckwheat pancakes, daily-made scones with jam, and farm egg omelettes with fresh herbs. Additionally, there are meat and vegan sandwich options available.
Probably my favourite place in Istanbul. Such great breakfast options and a cool place to hang out. Really worth going. Superb coffee also!
Jan P — Google review
So I visited this cafe 10 years ago when it was featured in Istanbul Wallpaper guide. It was vibrant, green plants everywhere, cool open kitchen vibe. What a difference. I walked in, no greeting, sat down and waited. Then I noticed the menu QR code. Then I waited some more..so started checking out the other cafes locally on my phone. Then one of the staff decided I might need to order something. Ordered the Aubergine kebab, Jesus Christ, rubbish. Lump of chewy meat hidden in a wrap of slimey veg. Ordered the hibiscus tea. My gums nearly peeled off my teeth. The fact I changed from one rocky chair to another table with a rocky chair and rocky table should have told me I was in for immediate indigestion. Paid the bill and walked around the block for 20 minutes hoping the food would work its way down. I noticed the place was pretty filthy too. Just crap and dirt all over the floor. Not great and now not in the wallpaper city guide.
Rixhie — Google review
Journeys is a great spot right in the heart of Cihangir. The location is central and the seating options make it easy to find a spot that suits your mood. You can sit outside in the front, relax in the small garden at the back, hang out on the couches inside, or head upstairs to the working space if you need to get things done. The place is clean, the toilets are well kept, the staff is kind, and it is pet friendly too. The food always comes with a creative twist, so it is never exactly what you expect but always interesting. They have a few vegan options which is a plus. Prices are on the higher side compared to the average café in the area, but the quality and atmosphere make it worth it. It has become my go to spot in Cihangir.
Sebahat Ç — Google review
Journey is one of my favorite spots in Istanbul! The atmosphere is super cozy, it feels like a retro, hipster living room right in the heart of Cihangir, where everything’s happening. I love their organic menu, the food is always fresh and absolutely delicious. For dinner, I usually go for the rice pilaf, and in the mornings, I can’t resist the Journey breakfast, scrambled egg toast, or menemen. The service is always warm and welcoming. I genuinely love this place and highly recommend it!

Best meal I had in Istanbul! The breakfast options are very interesting and delicious. Thank you for GF bread, I really appreciated it and it was very tasty.
Sofia S — Google review
Wonderful little cafe. Clean and warm with attentive and warm staff. The menu options are all healthy and are served in a beautifully presented way. This place made me love Turkish breakfast. Also there are fresh juices and nice teas and coffee!
N. E — Google review
The place is good to have a European breakfast, different options available. The taste in general is okay, the egg toast had too much pepper and the goat cheese did not suit poached egg very well. The scones were delicious. Many kinds of freshly squeezed juice and good coffee. Relaxing music in the background, good start of your day.
Daria L — Google review
We had a delightful experience at Journey Cafe in Istanbul! The old loft-style mezzanine adds a unique charm to the place. We tried the buckwheat pancakes, poached egg bowl, and poached eggs on toast, and all I can say is - delicious! The flavors were on point, and the presentation was lovely. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere made it even better. Highly recommend this gem! 👌☕🍳

Breakfast restaurant
Munchies Crepes & Pancakes, formerly known for its long queues during weekend breakfasts, has now moved to a larger location in Moda. While traditional maple syrup may not be available, the menu offers an assortment of jams, Nutella, nut butters, and fruits alongside savory options like cheeses and cold cuts. The cozy atmosphere with laid-back music makes it an ideal spot for a leisurely brunch or breakfast.
Really good pancakes, both hearty and sweet ones. Cats inside add to the cozy-ness. Surprisingly not awful coffee
Nikita N — Google review
Best pancakes I’ve had in Istanbul. Perfect amount of fluff, not too sweet, good size shape and texture. Tried both sweet and savory style. Small menu as they specialize in pancakes, didn’t see any crepes. Def a must try.
MrG — Google review
No crepes, but amazing pancakes! We actually came to have a crepe but turned out they only have pancakes, so we got a pancake burger with nutella, strawberries and banana. It was a bit messy to eat but the taste was great! I loved it 🥰
Kat — Google review
Here where you can get high with pancakes 🥞 coffee and the music is really good. It’s a perfect place for Sunday brunch. They have outdoor and indoor options, many cats around. It’s peaceful and in the center of the Moda. You can refill the side cheese and stuff. They serve free tea with pancakes.
Waleed M — Google review
This place has a great atmosphere, with chill music, perfect for a relaxing breakfast or brunch. The pancakes taste amazing and have great texture. The pancake burger is amazing and you can add as many fillings as you want. The people working there were really nice and one of them spoke perfect English. I recommend trying!
Emmanuelle G — Google review
TO NOT EAT HERE IS TO FAIL YOUR MOUTH!!! The food is amazing, some of the best pancakes I've had, the staff are incredible. It's often pretty busy so if you can come in a non-meal time you'll be winning. Regardless not a place to be missed!!
Neo P — Google review
Amazing place, we had to wait for a table cause we came at the time of lunch and it's pretty small but it was worth every second. Pancakes are delicious and comes with so many toppings. What I can recommend is pancake toast. It was the best. Better than sweet or savory combo. Make sure to try the toast! Prices are fair, you can order 4 pancakes for 15 lyra and I think the toppings form combo are refillable free of charge 😉

The Crepe Escape was one of the first establishments to bring a Turkish twist to pancakes, offering both traditional Turkish breakfast-style servings and various savory combinations. Their menu includes an array of options like a pancake club sandwich, smoked eggplant and goat cheese pancakes, as well as smoked salmon with cream cheese and avocado toppings.
This is my favorite spot in Istanbul. I’ve been here at least 7 times, and the food and service never disappoint. Amazing portions and amazing flavors.

I had a wonderful breakfast experience at this lovely restaurant in Istanbul. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, What really stood out was the excellent service. Our waiter Halin was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. He took the time to explain the dishes and made sure we had everything we needed. His warm and professional attitude made our morning even more enjoyable, Thank you, Halin, and the entire team, for the great hospitality! I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Istanbul and looking for a pleasant breakfast experience.

Extremely rich menu. Endless breakfast plate options. The place is famous for its crepes and pancakes but we preferred egg breakfast. Items in the menu should be priced. This is the only improvement I can advise to the restaurant. Prices are higher than the market. The place was extremely crowded. We ended up getting the last table. Interior design was cool and relaxing. Ingredient quality was good. Service was a bit slow due high traffic. Overall score 4.4/5 for a Breakfast Restaurant

We had a wonderful time at Crepe Escape in Istanbul! The menu offers a very large variety of dishes, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The service was excellent – very friendly and attentive staff who made us feel truly welcome. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. Overall, a great experience that we would definitely recommend!

Found this gem on Tiktok and it didn't disappoint! The food was great, had crepes and matcha, both were delicious. Nestled in a comfy neighbourhood in Kadikoy, you can take the Bus from the Ferry Port and get here. The staffs were friendly and spoke fluent English, they had barcodes to help visualize their menus so it was great.

The best place in Istanbul to have brunch: charming staff (special thanks to Halil!), the food is excellent and above all the setting is peaceful. We highly recommend it.

Best crepe place in the city! The people there are so welcoming and kind, the food is amazing (tried both sweet and salty crepes, the milkshakes and breakfast options) and finally the atmosphere is super cozy yet somewhat fancy. A huge plus is that they also offer to make the crepes gluten free! 10/10 would recommend!

(Translated by Google) At first, the atmosphere seemed friendly and warm, but as soon as we walked in, we were dissapointed by the fact that they showed interest and did not bring us a menu without telling us, even though there were only 2 tables occupied, and they said that we do not offer bread in the pancake breakfast menu that we wanted, if you want, we can add it for a fee (you will pay 25 TL for the plate + bread). And also, while the tea and sauce on the pancake breakfast plate could be renewed, we were warned that the sauces on our plates would not be renewed in case our third friend next to us did not have breakfast and could share our breakfast. An unfriendly commercial cafe. The eclectic decor and shabby-chic furniture add to the relaxed atmosphere. While some have found the service slow and not too professional, others have praised the delicious food offerings. From Turkish specialties to tofu scramble, there's something for every palate.
One of the best restaurants in Istanbul direct at Bosfour , food is very delicious, service is more than 5 stars, atmosphere is cozy and family style. Very much recommended. Prices are bit expensive.
Arkomas S — Google review
The restaurant has a nice view, but unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. The food arrived cold, which was disappointing, and the prices were unreasonably high. It seems like they change prices based on the customers, especially when Arabs visit. You can find the same Turkish breakfast at other restaurants with better quality and more reasonable prices. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend it .

A classic place to have Turkish breakfast with an immediate view over the Bosphorus ,, they have the option of ordering separate dishes which is better for smaller groups to minimize food waste ,, I’d recommend visiting the place at least once when in Istanbul,,, The fact that a branch of Olive Farm is available at the entrance makes the visit more fruitful,, this shop offers lovely collection that’d be great as gifts or for personal use
Layan — Google review
Rate:7/10 Unfortunately, it wasn’t as recommended for us. The waiters were not very welcoming, especially toward Arabic customers. They insisted we sit in specific seats and wouldn’t allow us to change, even though there were empty tables inside. We ordered homemade lemonades were very tasty — but the milkshakes were disappointing. Overall, not a place we’d recommend. I will not repeat it again. Otopark more than others 350lira turkey

We ordered burger and pasta and it took them forever to prepare them. Unfortunately they weren’t tasty specially the burger I couldn’t eat the chicken. The view was good and the restaurant/cafe is nice i think it’s more like a cafe that’s why they don’t pay attention on the food. The staff were kind. Sry by I don’t recommend this place for food.

Aşşk Kahve is one of those cafes that perfectly blends atmosphere with flavor. Set by the Bosphorus, it offers a calm and beautiful view that makes any visit special. The menu has a great mix of Turkish and international options, and the coffee is rich and satisfying. It’s a lovely spot for breakfast, brunch, or just to relax with friends. It can get busy, especially on weekends, but the lively energy adds to the charm.
Bashar A — Google review
Amazing for breakfast by all means. The view is mesmerizing and beautiful. They have several options for breakfast, can be served slightly to mid-day. Staff are helpful and kind. Clean but feels vintage and hippie.
Shatha — Google review
Good, But Not as Great as Before I’ve always enjoyed having breakfast at this Turkish restaurant, but this time the experience wasn’t quite the same. The food was still decent, but much saltier than usual — it really took away from the natural flavors I used to love here. Some dishes just didn’t have the same balance and freshness. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is still welcoming, but I hope they work on the seasoning and bring back the quality that made this place special. I might give it another try in the future.

Crepan is an adorably charming café situated in Arnavutkoy, offering convenient indoor seating options that include a spacious booth adorned with plush cushions. Aside from their scrumptious selection of pancakes and crepes, they also specialize in bazlama toast. Patrons can indulge in delectable pancakes drenched in maple syrup, Speculoos spread, or even dulce de leche at this establishment which remains open until 10 p.m.
Tucked away on a quiet corner, this little crêpe restaurant is a true hidden gem. From the moment you step inside, you’re wrapped in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Soft lighting, rustic wooden tables, and the gentle scent of melted butter and fresh batter create a cozy, almost Parisian charm. The menu is simple but thoughtfully crafted, offering both sweet and savory crêpes. I tried the goat cheese, spinach, and walnut crêpe—perfectly balanced with a touch of honey—and followed it with a classic crêpe Suzette that was citrusy, buttery, and absolutely unforgettable. The service was friendly and unhurried, allowing me to relax and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Whether you’re stopping in for brunch, a quiet lunch, or a comforting dessert, this place feels like a little retreat from the busy world outside. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food, peaceful ambiance, and a bit of indulgence wrapped in a delicate crêpe.

In general a decent place. However, rather overpriced: We paid 16€ for one crepe with nutella and one cappuccino.
Hendrik B — Google review
Ambience is delightfully cozy. Crepe with ham was delicious. Access from Arnavutkoy iskele is easy. Service by one worker was good. The other seemed temperamental and agitated which affected the cozy vibe for me. Ordered a tea which I asked be brought after my meal but it was brought before and the temperamental waiter tried to insist I have it now rather than later. Luckily the sweet waiter intervened. But for the money it all costs, it kind of upset the whole vibe. Prepare for a 10% surprise service charge which i do not see informed on the door. For all these reasons, service gets a 3. Which affects the ambience and thus 4, not 5 fir service. Food is a 5!🙌

I accompanied my friend for a stroll, upon noticing the pleasant appearance of the coffee shop, we opted to purchase a refreshing beverage. We suggested lemonade as it was among the worst lemonades I had ever consumed. The lemonade lacked freshness and appeared to have been prepared perhaps a week ago; we eventually left most of it on the table before departing. This experience in that area was rather unpleasant.

A very nice and cozy place. The crepes and sandwiches were the best I've every had. I highly recommend this place when traveling to Istanbul.

(Translated by Google) Making pancakes is quite easy, but it is difficult to bring the ingredients together... When this is the case, you can go out and eat delicious pancakes, try different sauces and add color to your breakfast without having to get your hands dirty with flour or worrying about whether the pancake is finished or not. Maple Barrel, which is open between 8 a.m. and 2 a.m., will be open 24 hours a day in the summer. Bring on the calories! :) Maple Barrel Pancake&Crepe&Coffee opened in Fenerbahçe about 2 weeks ago. It's so new that it hasn't even been connected wirelessly yet. Right next to Bodrum Mantı. The location is good, parking is usually available. There is even valet available. Maple Barrel has both indoor and outdoor space. The interior and exterior design is reminiscent of the Bear Pub. When they close the door due to the cold weather, the smoke inside disturbs them. But that problem will be solved soon. After all, it's a 2-week venue, it's normal for there to be shortcomings. There are heaters outside, FYI. It is served with 4 pancakes and 12 sauces (fruit includes banana and strawberry). I can't say that I like jam, but there is one sauce among those sauces that blew me away; milk jam... I left Nutella and peanut butter aside, I just fell in love with milk jam. I guess it is prepared with milk, sugar and baking powder. Although the recipe seems easy, I think it is difficult to make. Its taste resembles caramel. Pancake lovers know that pancakes are not complete without maple syrup. Maple syrup as we call it. Sauces are renewed free of charge as they run out. It is a bit difficult to stock fresh fruit for this type of businesses. Metro comes to the rescue, but fruits that are not in season are tasteless. Even at Godiva, you shouldn't be stuck for too long after eating tasteless strawberries. The Crepe Escape in Şaşkınbakkal and Munchies in Moda were making up for the lack of pancakes and crepes on the Anatolian Side. Maple Barrel, in a sense, became a neighbor to these businesses and it was a good thing. Portion is 15 lira. I'll try the crepes next time I go. You can also drink medium quality coffee after breakfast. Porsiyon 15 lira. Bir sonraki gidişimde krep deneyeceğim. Kahvaltının ardından orta kalitede kahve de içebilirsiniz.

(Translated by Google) First of all, let me talk about the taste; It has nothing to do with dough or pancakes than the flatbread you can buy from Bim Market. An hour has passed since the meal, but I still have a bad stomach because of the uncooked pancakes. However, let me tell you what really annoyed me; We ordered fried eggs along with pancakes, and it did not come with bread or pancakes. When we asked if it would have been like this if we had just ordered eggs, we got the answer yes. However, when I looked at the next table, I saw that the eggs came with pancakes, and when I asked the gentleman at that table, he said that the eggs came like this. When I went to the owner of the business and told him about the events, he said that the employees came late, one of their stoves was not working, etc. he said. Of course, a stove might not be working and they might not be able to make more pancakes, but they brought the pancakes we asked for for an extra fee, so we were literally treated like idiots. Moreover, they made defenses such as, "We paid for nothing for all these things and we still don't have any money", but they did not hesitate to make a very high bill, and with this tastelessness. I NEVER RECOMMEND IT, I WILL NEVER THINK ABOUT GOING AGAIN BECAUSE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ATTITUDE.

(Translated by Google) We came 10-12 times in about 6 months. We mostly ate pancakes and did not touch the rest of the menu. We are very pleased with the sauces, service and friendliness. The number of employees is small and sometimes you may have to wait a while. But it's always worth what we eat. Pancakes are just plain dough without sauces. This place is also very good at sauces.

(Translated by Google) In a place that only serves pancakes, the fact that a pancake alone costs 4 TL and that the sauces that come with it when purchased as a menu item are not homemade but standard jams sold in the market is unfortunately not enough to be authentic. Moreover, you have to wait a long time for these products, even though it is not crowded.

Good Guys Waffle & Pancake House in Beşiktaş may be a cozy spot, but it's big on character. Located in Yeldegirmeni, the walls adorned with graffiti reflect the vibrant spirit of the neighborhood. While they offer traditional Turkish breakfast options, their menu also features inventive pancake dishes like the Nutella-stuffed pancake. Visitors praise the high-quality and diverse range of products at this charming establishment.

I absolutely loved the food here!!!! The prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming thanks to the kind and pleasant people 🥰. I had all my meals here - breakfasts , lunch, and dinner. Every single dish was incredibly delicious. Truly a 10/10 experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for tasty food and great service.

Tourist trap and menu is deceptive. Bread is not included, prices are for their “small”. Nice and beautiful interior. But it’s not very comfortable the pillow seats. Make sure you ask about the prices when they ask you about size . Basically 3 times of what you should pay at other restaurants. Food is decent though. If the pricing was not deceptive they would get a lot more business. Restaurants like this give Istanbul a bad name sadly. Just be careful. Bill came up to 1225 lira for chicken thigh grill, coke, water and a thin pita with cheese.

I came here for breakfast. Omg, absolutely unreal. Seating area, you can either choose to sit traditionally on the floor or choose to have a table and chair. We decided to try the traditional style, very comfortable ample of space and relaxing feeling, I opted for the omelette with the stuffed spicy potatoe bread, absolutely unreal, really filling very flavoursome, the bread is made fresh whilst we wait, its cooked on a tradional round oven. Breakfast kept me full for about 7 hours until I had a light bite in the evening. Price wise, it's not bad, but you're in the heart of instanbul, so you should expect to pay that little bit extra. I didn't catch any of the employees' names, but they were really helpful when deciding what to have on the menu, I would definitely would come back here for breakfast and an evening meal. If you're Istanbul, it's worth a visiting.

AVOID. Horrific experience. Place is serviced by thieves. Police were involved. Worst experience of my life in a restaurant and tarnished me and my wife's first and probably last visit to Istanbul. It was only now when I have prepared to write this review that I have seen the other reviews that would have warned me not to walk into this restaurant serviced by thieves. We were offered a "small kebab" and instead we were served the Ottoman Mix kebab at 4395 TL. (By the way there are photos of the menu on google from 2 years ago where this same Ottoman Mix was 2000 TL - crazy price inflation but not specific to this restaurant). We made it clear we were not very hungry so a small plate of kebab would suffice. My wife also made clear she is vegetarian so we wouldn't be sharing. I explained I was unhappy with the situation and hoped there would be an amicable solution. Even though a service charge was applied, and we ate at best 5-10% of the huge plate, I offered to pay 5000 TL to cover what we had eaten and some of the kebab, so we could move on swiftly with enjoying the holiday and not tarnish it with this experience. Without the kebab the bill would have been 3244 TL (including service of 695 TL!!) Manager said he wanted us to pay full amount of 7639 TL. Then he lowered to 7000 TL. I refused. He said he would need to call the police. I welcomed this. After 10 minutes I asked how long the Police would be and he said 1 or 2 hours. My wife from her position facing him saw that he didn't make any phone call since speaking to me so he lied about calling the police. I told him I was leaving and he said he would follow us until we paid. I offered the 5000 TL again but he refused. We walked to Blue Mosque area being followed by him. He stopped us and said he didn't want to fight and asked me to pay. I asked him what he meant by "fight" and he changed the subject. I told him I don't know what he meant but we need to resolve this as adults and it's best we go to the Police. After more walking I found tourism police. They spoke with him in their language. I was not asked much. We were then driven in a Police car to another police cabin a few minutes away where two officers spoke with him. I had to struggle to give the Police my opinion. In the end one of the officers looked at me aggressively and said I need to pay him 6000 TL. Being on holiday and not wanting to make our situation any worse, I walked back to the restaurant with my wife, followed by the manager. His colleagues were waiting for him with a card machine outside the restaurant. I paid the 6000 TL. As he walked back inside the restaurant his colleagues were greeting him and they were all laughing together. Absolutely incredible. My factual account - make up your own mind if you want to support this establishment. (As for the Police - shame on them as well. Incompetent)

Tourist trap. The food was average and definitely not worth the price — there are much better options in this area. What really bothered me was the payment situation. They initially insisted I pay in cash and even tried to walk me to an ATM down the street. I refused and told them I would pay with a credit card. I’ve been in Turkey for over two weeks, and even street vendors have accepted cards without issue. It felt like they were trying to pocket the cash — although I can’t say for sure. Eventually, after I stood my ground, they suddenly “found” a card machine. The whole thing felt shady and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this place — something just doesn’t sit right.

We just came out of Topkapi palace & saw this chic place to spend couple of hours. Sitting arrangement was grand & comfy, Kebab was yum, & juicy, food was made just in front, so absolutely fresh. Employees are really friendly. Enjoyed two hrs of family time. Also, I had a sore throat they offered me herbal tea for free, that's really kind. Improvement area- The price mentioned on the menu card for the food items are only for "small" but no price quoted for "Medium" or "Large". They should write all three portions prices on the menu card to maintain transparency.

Previously, down the street there was a restaurant where delicious Gözleme was traditionally prepared on an open hemispherical stove. But this my visit to Istanbul this restaurant already closed. This restaurant is located up the street and the interior looks similar with low Turkish tables, but there is also a European version of the tables. I decided to try Gözleme here. And it turned out that my choice was successful. Gözleme is very juicy and cheesy, the spinach is fresh, the dough is super thin. But the staff doesn’t know their duties, I had to wave twice to get attention. The hostess was taken in by Russian family who even not staying in the cafe. I speak with her in English that I was ready to place an order. For some reason the hostess speak to me in Russian. The waiter offered me to choose different sizes of Gözleme, but did not specify what the price was. The menu shows one price, as it later turned out for a small size. A very young guy, the promoter, decided to come up to us when we were clarifying this with the waiter and throw out the phrase “This is the price for a medium-sized Gözleme, My friend,” although we had not even communicated with him before. Also, when I left, he said goodbye to me in Russian. I replied that I don’t speak Russian. Conclusion Gözleme is very tasty, but the service needs to be improved urgently.
