Fiskmarkaðurinn, also known as Fish Market, is a top restaurant in Reykjavik that offers a stylish two-floor interior adorned with red Asian-style lanterns and wooden floors. The menu features Japanese-inspired dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, including sashimi, maki, lobster soup, rock shrimp tempura, and robata-grilled minke whale. The restaurant also offers delectable desserts and vegetarian options.
Phenomenal food and service. Amazing fresh seafood. We ordered the “Premium Tasting Menu” set. It was a lovely 7-course meal served one dish at a time. This was definitely a must-visit restaurant in Reykjavik. It’s Michelin worthy! Our server, Angela, was very friendly, attentive and checked on us often to be sure we enjoyed every dish and time there. All the other staff who served us were knowledgeable and friendly too! Thank you! Reservations are highly recommended.

Fish market is a great place to have a very good meal. I've been here few times over the past years. Always good. I think with a 5 or 7 course meal the portions could be little smaller. But thats just details. Recommended for a dinner anyway. Will go again.
Mark H — Google review
The food here is wonderful. The scallop appetizer (served in the shell, with smoked cod roe and champagne vinaigrette) was the best scallops I've ever had. Arctic char tartare was delicious (especially the (ash-blackened?) rice cracker!). Cod was perfectly cooked and the whipped mashed potatoes, celery/cherry salad, and cherry demi-glace made ideal accompaniments. (The cod serving was enormous and could easily have served two people.) Excellent "Marburg" gin & tonic (with cardamom and some other yumminess I don't remember), and a very nice Spanish rose, rounded out the meal. The tasting menu looks fantastic (both of my neighbors had ordered it) but they can't serve it to single diners, more's the pity! All very expensive, but more or less on par for a fine restaurant in Reykjavik.

Before leaving for Iceland, I googled food in Iceland and I was terrified about it. Let me tell you, the experience i am having is far from reality. This is absolutely delicious, everything from appetizers to the lava cake, the passion fruit, the sashimi. Everything is of a fresh never experienced before, all the flavors are on steroids here, there is no other way to explain it. We did the premium food experience, absolutely fantastic.
Tiziana B — Google review
Exquisite food! Fresh and flavorful with beautiful presentation, one of the best meals we have had. Got the variety tartar and the fish sampler and it was divine Angela was our knowledgeable and thoughtful server. I HIGHLY recommend!
Alexandra C — Google review
We just walked in and we were lucky to have table available. The food was great, tarter and cod were very tasteful. Snorri served us very well! He is the best waiter we’ve met so far here in Reykjavik. Very good place to have dinner, decent and tasteful!
Lin W — Google review
We ordered their premium tasting menu for three people. Most of the food was great. The yellow tail tartar was the best out of all that we ate. Beef tataki was super savory. Plenty of dessert at the end. The miso black cod was a bit of a let down. Could not taste the freshness of the fish, the sweet flavor was too overpowering. The coconut rice and the rice on the nigiri and the rolls were not cooked properly as well, they were a bit hard. The sharing concept was a good idea but the portions for three people were too little to share especially on the mains. For the price, the total food quality and portion was a bit disappointing. My expectations were high for this place and they came up a bit short. On the plus side, the staff were attentive and service was great.
John R — Google review
One of the best dinning experiences I’ve ever had. Service was a tad slower than what I’m used to, but the atmosphere made chilling here awesome! Got seated watching the chef’s work and it was amazing. Ariel working the Maki was super awesome and interactive with us and the hostess Megalina was awesome too. Would recommend to anyone

Kol Restaurant is an upscale two-floor destination run by experienced chefs Saevar Larusson and Arnor Haukur Diego. The warm and stylish interior features Tom Dixon furnishings, an open kitchen, and a dapper bar, creating a relaxed ambiance for guests to enjoy. The menu changes daily but includes staples like the fruits de mer platter and sauteed filet of cod.
Wonderful dining experience at Kol. The cocktails had hilarious names and were delicious (albeit on the strong side). The reindeer fillet, beef, and salmon were all cooked perfectly, and the tacos were superbly seasoned. Service was attentive and friendly. Cozy atmosphere accentuated the overall experience.

Very nice experience with the nova offer. I visited for a special occasion. Got the three course set menu. Really enjoyed the saffron lobster soup and the tiramisu. Service is prompt and friendly. Portion sizes were great. I was not a huge fan of the fish dish we got this time but I'm sure it'll be better next time. Would visit again and recommend. Very nice wall paintings too.
Rohit G — Google review
We really enjoyed our experience here. The food was amazing - we had the Chef’s tasting menu (highly recommended)- the service was top notch and the atmosphere was lively and energetic. We loved Kol and highly recommend it.
Sherifandpoe A — Google review
Excellent dining experience. Very busy but staff was friendly and responsive. Seated so I had a great view of the prep line which I enjoyed. Ordered Reindeer per the recommendations of a fellow patron seated next to me. Glad I did. The reindeer was expertly prepared and delicious. The kitchen sent out a small brioche toast with cheese and tomatoes witch was amazing. Didn't save room for dessert although they did look delicious also.
Jeff B — Google review
The lamb fillet 🍖 was so tender and flavorful. The grilled grapes, carrots, and potato on the side was perfect as well. The service is amazing and the staff are very kind. The wait is long if you want a table so recommended to reserve beforehand.
Joyce — Google review
Delicious and interesting dining experience. Kol serves food that’s both traditional and innovative, with spectacular flavour combinations like miso rainforest with kataifi, smoked arctic char with nut praline. All works perfectly together. Service is just as impeccable as the food.
X Y — Google review
Wow the food was delicious. I ordered the fillet of lamb as I liked the sound of it (I normally don't eat lamb as I'm not a big fan) but this was UNREAL. Really recommend! Vibey decor too and really lovely staff. My favourite meal in Reykjavik!

Elevated Icelandic cuisine with friendly and personable service. My salmon and lamb were perfectly cooked, and paired with ingredients that brought the dish together in such a different, and delicious way. Great for a special dinner with your partner or family.

Apotek Restaurant, located in Reykjavik, Iceland, is housed in a historic pharmacy building and offers a unique dining experience. The restaurant serves delicious small plates and main courses such as sea trout on a Himalayan salt block and char-grilled beef tenderloin. Additionally, the cozy lounge at Apotek is known for serving some of the best cocktails in Reykjavik, including creative concoctions like the Dillagin and Rodaberg.
It was extremely delicious. We order set of 3 pieces. And it was tasty and very nice looking. The portions were big, so we even haven’t managed to finish our main course. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the restaurant gifted us with two glasses of Champaign which was very nice. We were there at Friday evening and it was full, atmosphere was very nice as well

Ambience: Very well design venue. Dim lighting, dark brown furniture , very elegant and sophisticated. The seats were extremely comfortable . Loved how romantic the ambience was. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Food: Very flavorful. The food was extremely delicious and the combination of flavors and ingredients were very creative. The plates were artistically designed and well presented. It was truly a fine dining experience in terms of taste and quality. It appeared to me that there was a lot of inspiration from other cuisines mixed with the local cuisine which made the food even more interesting. There was a touch of Mediterranean cuisine infused with every dish which not only did not affect the authenticity of the dish itself but added another complexity and color to it which I found very amusing. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Service: Excellent. There were plenty of staff on the floor attending the guests. Unlike what we have experienced with other restaurants in Iceland, where there weren’t enough team members attending the guests, this place had the right ratio and the staff were all very warm and were fully focused on the guest experience which was great to see. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Overall: Highly recommend it!

One of the city’s more stylish dining spots, set in a historic building that used to house a pharmacy. The interior blends a modern, upscale feel with touches of old-world charm, making it an inviting choice for a nice evening out. It’s centrally located, so it’s easy to include as part of a day exploring downtown. The menu is Icelandic with a creative twist, featuring local ingredients like lamb, fresh seafood, and Arctic char, often prepared with a contemporary or international influence. Presentation is elegant, and the dishes are crafted with attention to detail. Portion sizes aren’t huge, but the quality is consistently high, and the flavors are balanced. The cocktail menu is also a highlight, with inventive drinks that reflect the restaurant’s pharmacy heritage. Service is generally polished and attentive, though it can feel a bit brisk when the restaurant is busy. Prices are on the higher side, but in line with other fine dining spots in Reykjavík. Reservations are strongly recommended, as Apotek is popular with both locals and visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. The atmosphere manages to strike a balance between classy and relaxed, making it suitable for both a special occasion and a memorable night out during your trip. If you want to experience Reykjavík dining at its more refined, this is one of the best places to do it. Overall, Apotek Restaurant delivers on presentation, flavors, and atmosphere. While it’s not the most budget-friendly option, it’s a strong choice if you’re looking for a stylish dining experience that highlights Icelandic ingredients with creativity.

Took the 3 course set dinner. Portions are huge and delicious so make sure you come hungry. Cocktails are great too! The arctic char and cod were a bit salty but still delicious. The stars of the evening were the lamb tartare and lamb rump steak! Excellent service and great ambiance. Will definitely go back.
Tricia B — Google review
We visited Apotek Restaurant in Reykjavík and chose the 7-course tasting menu. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I truly appreciate good food — we’ve dined at Michelin-starred restaurants and many outstanding places around the world — but this restaurant absolutely amazed me. The service was flawless: we asked to change a few courses in the tasting menu, and our waitress carefully discussed everything with the chef. Each dish was perfectly thought out and beautifully executed. From the different kinds of fish to the lamb and even a vegetable steak — it was a true culinary journey. The evening ended with the most delightful dessert — local yogurt. Even though I was already full, this sweet course was so light and delicious that I couldn’t resist finishing it. Huge thanks to the chef, the entire team, and the professional staff for creating such an unforgettable evening. An absolute highlight of our trip!
Julia G — Google review
We went there at 17:30 and there was no queue. By the time we finished, there was a line! So make sure to go early if you didn't book a table. I was longing for a lobster dish in Iceland and found this! The lobster is good though it doesn't look like the picture from instagram 😆 We also ordered the beef tenderloin, lamb rump steak, and a tiger prawn salad. Added crispy new potatoes as a side. Everything is amazingly delicious. It worth the price! ❤️ Best dinner in Iceland!
Abbie T — Google review
Great food excellent service. The menu was excellent with many options. Service was great. The wine selection is very broad. The cocktail was very nice as was dessert. Highly recommend the waguy appetizer.
Alexandra W — Google review
Apótek in Reykjavík was such a fun stop on our Iceland food journey. The building itself used to be the city’s main pharmacy, and you can still feel that history in the design. I even felt a little bit of mystery in the atmosphere, almost like the walls were holding on to old stories. We came here to try two Icelandic dishes: puffin and minke whale. The puffin was unlike anything I’ve ever had very fishy, like the ocean itself, since their diet is mostly fish. The minke whale surprised me with how tender and mild it was, almost like beef with a hint of the sea. Did you know this building was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, Iceland’s state architect who also created Hallgrímskirkja? That touch of history makes the dining experience even more unique. Just keep in mind this two dishes are enough for everyone. The flavors are very strong, but I like to say I try it once.

If you're looking for a taste of Icelandic cuisine, ROK is the place to be. Situated near Reykjavik's iconic Hallgrimskirkja church, this relaxed eatery offers a diverse menu featuring both local and international dishes, with an emphasis on vegan and vegetarian options. The restaurant has gained popularity for its extensive plant-based menu, which was expanded by one of the owners, Magnus Scheving, known for creating the TV show Lazy Town.
The food was amazing! I went during lunch time so I was able to get the Lunch Special that includes 2 items on the menu for about $32. The fish stew with rye bread was so comforting, and the Icelandic Char with pickles and capers were so good. It was savory and simply delicious. The service was great as well. The staff are very kind and the restaurant's atmosphere is great for a small celebration lunch or dinner.
Joyce — Google review
Best meal I had while in Iceland. I highly recommend the large tasting menu. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it! Just be careful when you order because the entire table has to get the tasting menu. Essentially I had an 8-course lunch and each plate that came out was absolutely delicious. The lemon-cured salmon with goat cheese is truly a gift from the gods. And the reindeer…OMG!! Never had it before and it was a buttery blast of greatness for your taste buds. Not gamey at all. Sorry kids, but Rudolph tasted amazing and I’m not the least bit sorry. The other standout was the brownie with fresh cream. So decadent but not overpowering. The staff was so helpful and delightful. And depending where you sit, you get a view of the church across the street. I would literally come back to Iceland just to eat at this place.
Frank R — Google review
We had the large tasting menu the portion is generous and we were fully stuffed after. Service staff are really nice and accommodating of our needs. The food are all fresh and nicely seasoned that you can still taste the flavours of the protein.
Chris K — Google review
This was a very busy place. We got lucky to be outside seated within a few minutes due to people leaving when we arrived. I recommend making a reservation if you need immediate seating at a specific time vs trying your luck. The portions of food for the plate was adequate. They recommend 2-4 items per person which was very accurate. The staff was very friendly even though they were slammed, so that was a plus. The cocktail drinks are a little pricey (summer bloom - 3290kr), but very good and worth it. Every dish was great but read the description and ask questions if you're unsure. Cured Reindeer - delicious! Packed with flavor and has a unique texture (was not a fan of texture but was good) Caesar Salad - great salad and the chicken was excellent Beef Tenderloin - cooked the way we liked and was delicious. Beef in a Pancake - everything about this dish was wonderful. If you do not like blue cheese, I would not recommend this. Definitely try to stop by and have a drink or eat some good food at ROK
Rudolph I — Google review
Our friend group ordered pretty much every item on the menu. Food is delicious, 2 items are enough to feed one person. The ladies of the staff were super nice and helpful with our choices. Don’t miss out on the blood orange cheesecake!
Ed S — Google review
Rok serves up small bites, which you can share around the table. The dishes are pretty decent, although there’s a chance you might find some of the flavours a bit heavy with no relief. The duck confit, for instance, is quite salty and unctuous. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant was packed when we arrived. We were able to snag the last table upstairs, which was small and low—not the most ideal for accommodating multiple dishes.
Nicole C — Google review
Rok appeared to be very popular, but we secured a spot 2 days in advance. Fortunately, we were inside, some folks remained outsided despite temperatures turning low in the later evening. The staff was friendly but superslow. The food items were fairly small but everything was a delight. We focused on seafood-based items and found all of the very tasty.

Incredible atmosphere and amazing food! We had a great time at ROK and will definitely be back if we are ever in Iceland again! We asked for the whipped cream on the side of the brownie and they were very accommodating.

Restaurant
Sümac Grill + Drinks is a downtown restaurant known for its great ambiance, celebrity sightings, and delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-infused Icelandic cuisine. Chefs Thrainn Freyr Vigfusson and Tomas Johannssont create mouthwatering dishes like grilled lamb and pistachio baklava that have earned praise from Gordon Ramsay and the Michelin guide.
We had an amazing dining experience at Sumac! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, with a vibe that feels both relaxed and sophisticated. The food was absolutely delicious — we tried the mushrooms, cod, cauliflower, and lamb ribs, and every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Each bite felt thoughtfully prepared, and you could really taste the quality of the ingredients. The lamb ribs, in particular, were incredibly tender and flavorful. To top it all off, the desserts were fantastic — rich, well-balanced, and the perfect end to an already memorable meal. Highly recommend Sumac for anyone visiting Reykjavík. It’s a must-try spot for food lovers looking for something special. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!
Rahul J — Google review
The flavors were what we really liked. The flavors were nicely subtle. The cod was excellent . Maybe as good as I have had in Iceland. The lamb shanks and shrimp were also excellent. Service was v good. There are some errors in the billing, but nothing major. Atmosphere was ' happening ' so we really enjoyed the evening. The flat bread was also excellent. So overall, an evening of note. Would recommend.
Ravi C — Google review
Hands down, some of the best food we’ve ever had. We did the taste menu, seven courses: three starters, three entrees, and dessert. The bread and hummus were amazing right off the bat! Tender shrimp perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth ribeye, zucchini to die for. The dessert was a date syrup chocolate cake with sesame seeds and a rich coffee ice cream. I couldn’t recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a nice place to spend an evening. My only regret is that we live 5,000km away and I’ll be comparing every restaurant to this one for years to come. Well, at least until next time we’re here.
Jake L — Google review
Four of us ate here the other night at the end of our Iceland trip, and it was fantastic! Also pricey, but incredible. We were all craving some different fare after eating fish and chips the whole week. Four of us, we got the 7 course chiefs meal, we ended up dropping about 500 for all of us (that’s 500 (US dollars) (NO drinks/alcohol). Their hummus was probably my favorite although the lamb was also top notch, but every course was solid. So if you are up for a splurge, I would definitely recommend Sumac. Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix pointed us here, glad it did. Reservations probably best, but we just lined up as soon as they opened and got in, thankfully.
Lee G — Google review
Ordered the 7-course meal for my friend's birthday. We had flatbread with baba ganoush and hummus for starters. Also the halloumi and oyster mushrooms- which was incredibly tasty especially the sauce. Main dishes were the shrimps, chicken thighs, cauliflower and lastly an ice cream for dessert. Wasnt really a fan of cauliflower but the tahina sauce and almonds complemented it perfectly.
Melanie ( — Google review
The food was crazy good, honestly the best chicken kebab I have ever eaten. The bread with the hummus on the side as a starter was like a chefs kiss! Sitting at the bar having a view over the kitchen and be able to do some talking with the chefs, fantastic atmosphere. A new favourite restaurant in Reykjavík! A must if you are in Reykjavík!
Melker T — Google review
Sumac just became one our favourite restaurants! Everything was packed with exciting flavours and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and not at all pretentious. There was a real attention to detail in both the food and the interior design. Only minus is that the meals arrived even too quickly - we would have enjoyed to have a bit more time to sit, talk and enjoy.
Linnea F — Google review
Lovely meal. Most dishes were good, some were EXTRAORDINARY. Notably, the almond-pepper spread, the warm pita with za'atar, and the chicken wings (unexpected!) were phenomenal, 5-star bites! We also had octopus, cod, the halloumi, and the mushrooms, and all were good. I wish we'd had more of the main plates cause they looked fantastic going by. The servers and chefs at the bar were a delight and joy, and I highly recommend eating at the bar for the full immersive experience. They were also kind enough to give us 3 pieces of pita even though the order usually only comes with 2 since there were 3 of us. Very kind!

Fish Company in Reykjavik is a seafood restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. Located in a charming cellar, the restaurant provides a warm and inviting atmosphere suitable for various occasions. The establishment prides itself on using the freshest Icelandic ingredients to create innovative dishes inspired by global cuisines. The walls are adorned with maps, reflecting the culinary journey patrons are about to embark upon.
Fish Company is by far my favorite restaurant in Reykjavik. We tried the Gourmet Feast, a 5-course journey full of flavors – from grilled ling and reindeer carpaccio to beef tenderloin and a fantastic piña colada crème caramel dessert. Every dish was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. My girlfriend had the sushi platter, which was just as impressive. Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a real food experience in Iceland.

Definitely worth visiting for the food as both taste and presentation were on point. This was the perfect first dinner here in Iceland! We got: - Mango Madness (mocktail) - Iceland LOVAGE (appetizer) - Iceland FISH (main) - Netherlands CHIVE (main) - Denmark PISTACHIO (dessert) Personally, the Iceland FISH main course was the highlight as there are three different fishes cooked three different ways. There was thoughtful preparation (in both pairing and sizing) to all the dishes. The choice of ingredients held true to the regional themes as well.

Absolute perfection! The best restaurant in Reykjavik, by far. The lobster soup is divine. Didn’t eat anything closer as good as this one in my life. The fish is perfect, the dessert crazy! Perfect served, ambiance was more than you think, 6 out of 5 stars!
Calin R — Google review
We ordered the Iceland Fish, Italy Garlic, and a 14-piece sushi set to share among three of us. The portions were generous, and every dish was delicious. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was lovely. That said, the prices were rather steep, but overall, it was still an enjoyable dining experience.
Jing B — Google review
Our best meal in Iceland. Excellent food and service. Started with the bread which was elevated with a creamy butter and granola to dip into. Appetizers were large portion sizes and all excellent. Cod was superb. Trio of fish in the seafood special as an entree was a great way to sample multiple types of fish and cooking styles. Each dish was explained to us on ingredients and cooking approach. Great desert selection to end. Highly recommended

Fantastic food & super service. Fantastic soft bread/butter sprinkled with oats/raisins. A little pricey dark inside. Better if there’s more light. RSVP suggested. We lucked out without one.
D D — Google review
It was late, which one may not realize until it is too late because it stays daylight for so long. Hard to find a decent restaurant that would still be open, have space and provide a quality meal. The Fish Company – we almost did not find it as the map seemed to suggest the entry on the other side – was a wonderful jewel: Very personable staff, great menu choices and super-delicious food, beautifully presented and on point.
Andreas K — Google review
Food was amazing, my only minor complaint was the timing of the service (servers were very nice) - I ordered the tour of Iceland with wine pairing and the wines and courses were not delivered at the same time, sometimes the wine came after the course or courses were served on top of one another. Would have been 5 stars if the service timing had been on point. Otherwise a lovely establishment with very thoughtful staff.

Sushi restaurant

Sushi Social is a trendy restaurant in Reykjavik that offers a unique fusion of Japanese sushi, South American grills, and Icelandic ingredients. Originally known as Sushi Samba, the restaurant rebranded after a high-profile scandal but has since become even better. The menu features melt-in-your-mouth fresh Icelandic fish and a wide array of selections including new style sushi and an amazing steak platter for two.
We tried the 5 course menu with smoked puffin and horse meat, and arctic char, along with salmon and lamb. It was immaculate service and every staff was beautiful to look at and the food was great. I ordered the veggie tempura and baby back ribs, and grilled chicken with a bed of yummy corn. The bathroom was spacious and there's a coat rack for jackets. Drinks was fun and interesting and dessert was strawberry sorbet. We were celebrating a bday and the candle was so fun!!!
Amanda W — Google review
Exceptional experience from this restaurant. All the waiters and the sushi bar staff were super kind, the sushi was out of this world, the main courses are delicious, and the atmosphere was amazing. Get their Lax, Firefly, and Surf n’ Turf sushi’s, since all of those were amazing. The grilled lamb was so, so good as a main entree dish. We loved the music playing around and seeing everyone having a great time. The cake with the fiery candle on it was a perfect dessert to end the night in Reykjavik. All in all, this was an INCREDIBLE sushi restaurant experience and I HIGHLY recommend this spot to anyone! We LOVED it!!!

Super Atmosphere !!! Good location. Food is also good but price is quite high. But busy in dinner time. It could be waiting for long for food or service. With P1 and P2 parking area.

Definitely one of the best sushi bars i have been to. Found the smoked puffin very interesting and also tried the firefly dish as well as the laxa nigiri. Great ambience and one can sit at the bar and watch the preparations. Friendly service.

Best sushi we had in Reykjavik! We ordered their Wednesday special sushi boat and everything was amazingly delicious. For desert we had the happy marriage rhubarb, also delicious. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend anyone to try it out.

This place is a gem. It’s in downtown Reykjavik area close to many other attractions/shops/restaurants/cafes. We made no reservation but the hostess allowed us an hour time slot to dine in. Once inside, the place offers a cozy, intimate, and upscale vibe. We ordered the spider sushi roll and the Icelandic roll which they serve on a platter in the geographical shape of Iceland! Both rolls were delicious and a hefty portion. We were satisfied with the service, taste, and overall experience. The items are on the pricier end but from the looks of it, this place delivers that high end quality/service.
Casey Z — Google review
We love going to Sushi Social and come atleast once a month. I would recommend the Surf and Turf Maki, Beef Tenderloin with truffle garden potatoes, and Caramel fudge. I find that the tables are too close with each other which could sometimes be a struggle to get in and out of your seat but overall would still recommend the place.
Trisha B — Google review
My husband and I had our first dinner in Iceland at Sushi Social, at the beginning of the second leg of our honeymoon. It was the best meal we had in Iceland, and in our top 3 meals for the whole trip. The staff were welcoming, responsive, kind, and truly went above and beyond. We loved the decor and vibe, and most importantly, we loved the food. The veggie tempura was the best I've ever had. We truly enjoyed the short ribs as well. We got 3 rolls: the Veggie Delight, the Firefly, and the Crunchy Avocado roll. We enjoyed them all very much. The yuzuade drinks were light and sweet. We were brought an incredible alcohol free prosecco, and finished the meal with an incredibly decadent chocolate caramel ice cream dessert. Sushi Social is a perfect place for a special occasion, or a nice dinner out! Thank you, Sushi Social for helping to make our honeymoon so special!

Íslenska Hamborgarafabrikkan is a top burger spot in Reykjavik, known for its signature Captain burger featuring a thick patty with garlic roasted mushrooms, caramelised red onion, bell peppers, chili berry sauce, and cheddar cheese. The menu offers traditional burgers as well as unique options like the Mr Peanut Butter burger and the Hammborgaramuffin.
Great burger. The location wasn’t far from a couple of the hotels in the area. The food was good, the burger was good more on the rare side. Tasted great. The fries were very similar to McDonald style fries. They took visa and Mastercard.

The atmosphere was decent, and the staff was kind. Quite a bit of wait time (to order and to receive food). The food did not reflect the prices at all. One appetizer (nachos), and a burger meal with a soda $70 USD.

Me and my husband stayed in Iceland for a few days and this was one of the first restaurants we found.. and absolutely loved it! The presentation of the food was great, and it tasted even better. The gentleman who served us was lovely, and we were in & out within about 45 minutes. I’d definitely recommend 😊
Joanne W — Google review
I first visited this place during my first visit in Iceland in 2016 and was sure to set my foot there again. The impression of the best vegetarian burger ever eaten was confirmed - during the last decade I have tasted many, many no-cruelty burgers, but the Icelandic burger factory ;) keeps its well deserved place on the podium. I'm also positively surprised by the prices that have not risen drastically over the last decade. And don't skip the honey mustard sauce, it's finger licking good, the best I have ever ever ever tasted!
Jacek Ł — Google review
We had lunch at Islenska Hamborgarafabrikkan in Reykjavík and the food did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious — juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. I went for a double patty just in case, and while it hit the spot, even a single would’ve likely been enough for most people. Portion sizes were decent and the overall presentation was great. The total for two meals came to around 67€, which isn’t cheap, but it felt fair for Reykjavík standards given the quality. The only real downside was the service. There were no waiters attending tables, so despite being the only customers at the time, we had to wait quite a while to be seated, to order, and then to actually get the food. It felt a bit disorganized, which was frustrating considering how empty the place was. Great food, but the service could definitely use some improvement.
Nacho F — Google review
Many of our orders got mixed up. The food was rather simple and bland. The interior is nice and there's a nice view of the surroundings and Höfði. For this price I will go somewhere else next time.
Heimir K — Google review
After being sat down, I think they forgot about me and I had to flag a server down. I ordered the animal Park Burger, which had great flavour and was definitely tasty. It’s a shame that the egg, while runny, was Ice cold, and the burger was Luke warm at best, the only hot part of the food, was the fries. The service wasn’t great, but adequate, although the staff did seem obsessed gathered around a screen at the bar and looking at that, not sure what was going on there. If the food has been hot, the rating would have been higher, real shame.

The Icelandic version of Hard Rock Café. Salads and burgers named after local celebrities and a decent selection of desserts. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Let them know it’s your (or somebody else’s) birthday and they’ll bring you a treat and play your song request.

While it may boast familiar dishes like steak and schnitzel, the flavors here are truly unique. Known for its lively atmosphere, especially on weekends with DJs spinning tunes and guests dancing the night away, Solon serves as a café, bistro, restaurant, and bar all in one.
We were looking for somewhere nice to eat on our first night in Iceland, and Solon didn’t fail to impress! The baked cheese and the lamb shank were both to die for, and we were really happy with our choices. The restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere, even for a Sunday night, and the staff were all warm and friendly! Would definitely recommend, especially the lamb shank! ❤️

The food here is delicious. As are the drinks. Our server was polite, extremely helpful, and funny. We ordered the fish special of the day and the fish and chips. Both good portions and very well prepared. For a starter, the burrata, which was fantastic. Drinks were the basil gimlet (delicious) and a mocktail with passion fruit and other juices. Highly recommend a visit.

Only went in there to try the catch of the day, which was Ling, and my goodness was it worth it. The best fish dish I've ever had! Full compliments to the chef, if I am ever in Iceland again, I'll be sure to come here. The service from Ray was wonderful, he is knowledgeable and friendly!

The vibe of this place was top notch! We loved how cozy yet modern it was. The coktails were trendy but delish and what really was amazing was the food! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the artic char was light and healthy! My husband went with fish and chips which had this Icelandic twist on it which was perfection! They have a secrets kids menu which my kids really enjoyed…they got protein in which as you know is tough! It was not frozen chicken nuggets and fries…it was all so fresh! Last but not least was the kind service we got! We loved this place and highly recommend if you have kids or not!

A really lovely restaurant! I pre booked this restaurant for our group of 7 on a Saturday night as I liked the menu. The staff are very welcoming and super helpful. Nikki was our server and she was so lovely, warm, and chatty with us. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was excellent, I would definitely recommend the shellfish soup and fish and chips. The only thing to note is that the bar closes at 10 so last orders are just before.
Fran B — Google review
The food and service were exceptional. The fish and chips was not only delicious but also pleasantly non-greasy, which I greatly appreciated. What truly stood out to me, however, were the desserts. I highly recommend saving room for one; they were the highlight of the dining experience. Please don't leave without trying them! It was truly an exceptional experience.

5 stars for the service! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I came with my partner during lunch time to see that the tables were busy but the male waitress was very friendly and accommodating to let us sit in the other section which was quiet. Food itself was delicious. We had absolutely amazing chicken snitzchel shaped in heart. Will come back! 🧡

Subway is a popular counter-serve chain known for its customizable sandwiches and salads, offering health-conscious options. With 19 locations in Iceland, including one in downtown Austurstraeti, Subway provides the familiar taste of home for international travelers and a slice of Americana for locals. Some outlets are open 24/7, while others have specific operating hours.

Service: the girls at the counter were Courteous and attentive. Explained the different types of salad options patiently. Salad: was fresh and the sauces blended well Location: Good location right at the end of the rainbow street. Just a few metres away from the church.
Suneela I — Google review
The person minding the restaurant was rude to our party when one of us asked if we could use the restroom. He replied “there is no restroom!” And when we asked if there was a restroom nearby he said “I don’t know, you go walk outside and find” The coffee that I ordered had no coffee, it was just milk and water. I’ve come to Iceland 4 times already and found islanders to be very friendly and polite but this is the first time I’ve met someone who is rude.
Snakeweed S — Google review
The service at this Subway location was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being treated differently than the locals. The staff member working during our visit was snarky and dismissive, rushing us for no reason even though the store wasn’t busy. We were simply trying to understand the menu and ask polite questions about the sauces and ingredients, but instead of helping us, she acted as though we were bothering her. She refused to explain anything and wouldn’t honor any discounts. When we asked for her name to report the experience, she refused to give it. It’s unacceptable to treat any customer—especially someone new to the area—with such disrespect. This kind of attitude reflects poorly on the brand and creates an unwelcoming environment for travelers.
Roh S — Google review
Very kind and helpful personnel. Food is ok, subway style what to say more. There is no bathroom, which is a bit uncomfortable.
Norb E — Google review
Rude staff not recommended! Seriously, why are Subway employees always so rude or just down all of the time? if your sick off your job than quit! not blame and harass costumers with your rude nonsense.
Icemadnessx — Google review
A subway is a subway. Only recommended if you are desparate and really short of time. However, this subway was not particularly fast, either. This all happened, because the nice restaurant at Harpa that amazed us with an incredible lobster soup 3 years ago was closed this time around. And we panicked to get something to eat before a nice jazz concert. Our mistake...

Nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, Geysir Bistro Aðalstræti offers a delightful dining experience that beautifully marries Icelandic cuisine with international flair. Located near Ingolfstorg square, this bistro is perfect for those seeking a classy atmosphere paired with deliciously presented dishes. Diners can enjoy a range of options, from seasonal specialties to classic favorites like onion soup and whale steak.
Highly recommend you try here. Iceland is a pricey place, in terms of value for what you are getting (service, portions and taste) it is worth it. The restaurant is classy and has a good atmosphere, while the food is delicious and well presented. Overall good experience. Worth mentioning we had some special seasonal menu (December period), hence the special type of burger on the photos.

Good lunch, decently priced for being in the capital. Got a good laugh at some more experienced humans pronouncing it as "geezer bistro." We luckily got our order in before a very large tour group and service was friendly and efficient. Good for a quick lunch at a reasonable (for Iceland 🇮🇸) price. Nothing spectacular, but good food, at a reasonable price, with good service.
Melissa S — Google review
High quality food and reasonable prices for Iceland. Shared the scallop appetizer, and two orders of beer battered fries. Recommend trying the onion soup and whale steak, and they have fermented shark and brennivan available as well. For $120 usd we were able to feed three people and have two drinks. Excellent service, friendly service, and a relaxed environment.

Very nice restaurant with fair pricing. We are outside in this beautiful little cobble stone alleyway while watching the sunset. The server was very nice and even gave us champagne when he found out it was our honeymoon. The quality was quite good and had a healthy, fresh food feel to the menu. I would absolutely go back. The inside was pretty swanky looking. Could be a nice place for a special occasion. Or just pop in like we did for a bite.

Found this Restaurant by recommendation of a local i met while visiting the blue Lagoon and really say enough about it! Had one of they best meals in a very long time. Amazing mushroom soup to warm you IP after being outside in the cold for way too long. Then decided to try their ovenbaked codfish and it was divinal (and i am a portuguese! So very dificult to please when It comes to codfish dishes!!) The fish was só soft it felt like it melted inside your mouth, followed by some tasty veggies seasoned with a wild mushroom sauce (yes, as you can probably Tell, i love mushrooms). By the end i was so full that unfortunately i had no space left for dessert. To top it all of, the staff was Very friendly and professoral, and service quite quick and efficient. Prices seemed quite ressonable, for Reykjavík (meaning, still expensive but totally worth it in my opinion). Well, i loved it so much that i went back the day after for another soup and to try another of their starters, the goat cheese with pear and pecan nuts that i didn't get the chance to try the previous might and that had stayed in my mind. Long story short: a must go If you are in Reykjavík

The food and service were amazing here! Even though we sat outside, the seagulls were a little aggressive but didn’t bother our table, the staff kept coming to check in on us. The best service we have received here in Reykjavik. I believe our servers name was Yasmin ( I’m not confident in the spelling), but he was fantastic! I would 100% come back to this restaurant and get the seafood soup again!
