Perlan, also known as the Pearl, is a futuristic glass-domed structure located on Oskjuhlidh Hill in Reykjavik, Iceland. Its primary function is to house towering geothermally-heated hot water tanks that provide warmth to the city's residents.
Great place to spend a few hours learning more about this fabulous country!!! The exhibits are very nice. The lava and glacier exhibits are fun! The restaurant has delicious food and the dining area rotates slowly! The views from the observation deck are breathtakingly beautiful. Love from Kentucky! Get tickets early!!!
Benjamin B — Google review
Very pleasantly surprised! We spent there three hours without even knowing. Volcano show (both) as well as aurora show are incredible. Lots of other interactive stuff. And oh yes, the ice cave. We also enjoyed good cup of coffee in the cafe.
Tereza P — Google review
A very impressive and modern museum! There’s a lot of interesting information about Iceland’s volcanoes, glaciers, icebergs, and natural wonders, all presented in an interactive and engaging way. Some of the immersive videos are truly stunning. One of the highlights is the simulation ride where you stand on a platform surrounded by screens and experience what it’s like to travel through a volcano and witness an eruption — very exciting and well done. Another must-see is the ice cave made of real ice and snow, which gives a unique sense of what it’s like inside a glacier. Overall, a great mix of education and entertainment, perfect for both adults and children. Definitely worth a visit while in Reykjavík!
Alex V — Google review
Great visit. Lots of staff to help you on arrival and as you go through the museum. Gave us good suggestions to make our day flow. We loved the Volcano show and the Aurora show - really well put together. The ice cave was fun too. The exhibits were interesting and interactive. The views from the observation deck were very good. We really enjoyed the day and would recommend a visit.
Janet R — Google review
Very nice museum with a variety of exhibits. The ice cave was interesting and up close to a volcano was amazing. Good way to spend a few hours in the city.
Todd O — Google review
A must visit! If you want to know the history of this amazing country, its volcanic activity and northern lights them worth a visit. The ice tunnels and northern lights planetarium are a must do. Great outdoor platform to view the whole city and on the top floor lovely cafe with great cake selection. Highly recommended
Ian M — Google review
Worth a visit, with some highlights and some meh sections, with underwhelming indications/navigation. The videos/shows are actually quite impressive and elaborate, and not that long. The ice cave is a super nice touch, but it’s a bit of a pity you don’t hear about it sufficiently before entering the museum (otherwise we would have brought extra jackets for the -15degrees inside…).
Hugo K — Google review
One of the best museums we’ve visited anywhere, and an absolute must if you’re visiting Reykjavik. A great mix of information and experiences which could keep people of all ages entertained for hours, including the Aurora film, volcano experience and replica ice cave. There’s free parking at the door, a restaurant upstairs, and a decent gift shop. Guides were brilliant, and English was spoken and understood everywhere. An unexpected highlight of our short stay in Iceland.

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
In the heart of Reykjavik, Iceland's colorful capital, stands Hallgrimskirkja, a modern Lutheran church completed in 1986. Inspired by Icelandic traditions and basalt rock formations, this iconic landmark rises 250 feet above the city and offers sweeping views from its observation tower. Visible from twelve miles away, the church's unique design dominates the local skyline and is a must-see for visitors to Reykjavik.
Beautiful iconic church, free entry to see the interior with its magnificent organ. Admissions to head to the top is not free but definitely worth it as some of the best views of Reykjavik and beyond. Lovely bells and neat northern lights inspired lighting on Sunday nights.
Kyle D — Google review
Perhaps Reykjavík’s most famous landmark, towering over the city with its striking design. The inside, however, is very empty and underwhelming. The exterior is undeniably impressive, inspired by Iceland’s natural basalt columns and lava flows, giving it a uniquely dramatic presence that feels both modern and tied to the landscape. Standing in front of it or viewing it from different parts of the city is an experience in itself, and it’s one of the most photographed sites in Iceland. Inside, however, many visitors find it surprisingly plain. The interior is spacious but sparsely decorated, with white walls and minimal ornamentation. Aside from the impressive pipe organ, there isn’t much to hold your attention for long, which can feel underwhelming compared to the dramatic façade or the richness of Iceland’s natural beauty that inspired it. What makes the visit more worthwhile is going up the tower. For a small fee, you can take an elevator most of the way up and climb a short flight of stairs to enjoy panoramic views over Reykjavík, the harbor, and the surrounding mountains. On a clear day, this is easily the highlight of the visit and a great way to get your bearings in the city. Practical things to keep in mind: lines for the tower can get long, especially when buses arrive, so going early in the day or later in the afternoon helps. The church itself is free to enter, but the tower requires a ticket. Accessibility is decent thanks to the elevator, though the last stretch still involves some steps. Overall, Hallgrímskirkja is worth seeing for its iconic architecture and the tower view, but don’t expect the interior to match the drama of its exterior. It’s a must-visit in Reykjavík, but more for the outside and the vantage point than the church itself.
R — Google review
Visited the church tower to experience the city from above. Elevator almost all the way up, only to the last floor where you have to walk up stairs. There is a fee to go up with the elevator. Magnificent views in all directions. It was very windy up in the tower so a hat would be great. The church is large and spacious, well-visited and beautiful. There is a small souvenir shop inside the church.
Marika W — Google review
The view on top is so beautiful and different than the other churches I visited in Europe. It’s beautiful both during the day and night. The history is pretty neat to read about inside the church.
Joonoski — Google review
Hallgrímskirkja Church is an iconic landmark located in the heart of Reykjavík, Iceland. Standing 74.5 meters tall, it is one of the tallest buildings in the country. Designed by architect Guðjón Samúelsson, the church’s striking form was inspired by Iceland’s natural basalt columns, reflecting the rugged beauty of the island’s landscape. From the top of its tower, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Reykjavík, the surrounding mountains, and the sea. Inside, a grand pipe organ fills the church with majestic sound, creating a solemn and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
HiDe86 — Google review
An absolute stunning cathedral in the centre of Reykjavik. It's within walking distance from most hotels although it does offer car parking. Inside is airy with a great big organ above the entrance. I believe you can visit the top of the tower but one didn't fancy all those stairs.
Lee R — Google review
Hallgrímskirkja - Stunning, photogenic, and truly a symbol of Reykjavík. Absolutely iconic and unmissable in Reykjavík. The church’s soaring, expressionist tower and stepped concrete façade are unlike anything I’ve seen; the design was inspired by Iceland’s columnar basalt formations (think Svartifoss) and gives the building that dramatic, almost otherworldly silhouette. It’s the tallest church in Iceland (about 74.5 m) and dominates the skyline — perfect for photos from many points around the city. Visit at night if you can: the visuals are amplified by lighting that can change color — I saw it lit in warm tones and, during awareness events, in pink which looks stunning against the night sky. Several other tourists mentioned how the colored illumination makes the already-architectural lines pop and creates very memorable photos. Inside is calm and surprisingly simple compared with the bold exterior — the nave is peaceful, there’s a notable pipe organ, and you can take the elevator up to the viewing deck for panoramic views over Reykjavík, Faxaflói Bay and Mount Esja (well worth the small fee). Expect crowds during peak hours, but the view from the tower is one of the best ways to get your bearings in the city. A few practical notes from fellow travellers: the Leif Erikson statue in front makes for a classic postcard shot; construction spanned decades (started in 1945, finished 1986), so the place carries a lot of local history; and many recommend coming at sunset or after dark when the lights and (if you’re lucky) the northern lights/aurora are visible behind the spire. If you enjoy architecture, photography or panoramic city views, Hallgrímskirkja should be high on your Reykjavík list.
Soma S — Google review
Definitely a must visit if you’re in Reykjavik! It is free to enter and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the interior of the church, but it is well worth the $20 per person you need to pay to take the elevator up to the bell tower. It gives you quite a view of the city and looking out to the harbor. The building itself is beautiful.

Sun Voyager is a stunning stainless-steel sculpture located on the granite shores of Reykjavik, Iceland. Created by Jón Gunnar Árnason, it resembles a Viking longship and was unveiled in 1990 to celebrate the city's 200-year anniversary. Despite its appearance, the sculpture is actually an ode to the sun, symbolizing hope and light in a place with long hours of winter darkness.
A beautiful sculpture. As a testament to the roots of the country. a nice tourist attraction. As well as a place where people can go to appreciate the beauty of the city. The area is a peaceful and relaxing place
Gabriel S — Google review
A landmark. Stainless steel viking ship. Perfect spot to stroll around overlooking the mountain & sea. Nothing special though. You may skip this if you do not have much time in Iceland. There are a lot more to see outside of Reykjavik.
Pei — Google review
This is a neat photo opportunity if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go too far out of the way for it. It’s really just the sculpture, usually crowded with lots of people, so getting a good photo is rather hard anyways. Nice views of the bay and the city though.
Kevin H — Google review
An avant-garde sculpture located along the seaside, it attracts many tourists who stop to take commemorative photos. On clear days, you can see the opposite shore beautifully, so if you plan to take pictures, it’s best to do so with the sea in the background.
HiDe86 — Google review
It's alright... if you want to enjoy the ocean view and walk along the shore, this is there, and there is nothing wrong with it. But I felt that you dont have to go see this just for this...
Akiko U — Google review
Pretty cool! The way to get there is very scenic by the water and pretty long enough for a pleasant walk. I enjoyed the hot dog by the water.

We went for the midnight sun because of the stunning views. It’s a beautiful place to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset.

Perched atop CenterHotel Arnarhvoll, SKY Bar offers a stunning view of Reykjavik, including the Harpa Concert Hall and Mt. Esja. The bar features a lovely balcony, perfect for enjoying the weather on a peaceful day. While some visitors found the cocktails overly sweet and the snacks lacking, others praised the good selection of drinks and reasonable prices during happy hour. The panoramic views from the 8th floor facing the sea and mountains are truly breathtaking.
My Wife and I stayed at the Arnarhvoll (5 - 9th Feb 2025) and found the Sky Bar an unexpected brilliant bonus! If you stick to the two Happy Hours, 4-6pm and 8-11pm, the prices are fine. The views across the city and the bay are stunning. The staff are very helpful. Kind of bar snacks only on offer for food but in honesty they were plenty whilst having a beer (and a game of Chess) before we decided where to eat in the evening. This added feature of the hotel made all the difference to us and potentially made it more likely that we will return to this hotel on future visits to Iceland.
Darren ( — Google review
Nice bar on the 8th floor of the Central Hotel with views of the water and the performance building. There was a pretty standard drink menu with some early and late night happy hour deals. There are 2 outdoor patios and plenty of tables inside. Service was a little slow but not bad...didnt try the food. No events on the Friday night I was there...but saw they do events and DJs sometimes.

Apotek Restaurant, located in Reykjavik, Iceland, is housed in a historic pharmacy building and offers a unique dining experience. The restaurant serves delicious small plates and main courses such as sea trout on a Himalayan salt block and char-grilled beef tenderloin. Additionally, the cozy lounge at Apotek is known for serving some of the best cocktails in Reykjavik, including creative concoctions like the Dillagin and Rodaberg.
It was extremely delicious. We order set of 3 pieces. And it was tasty and very nice looking. The portions were big, so we even haven’t managed to finish our main course. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the restaurant gifted us with two glasses of Champaign which was very nice. We were there at Friday evening and it was full, atmosphere was very nice as well

Ambience: Very well design venue. Dim lighting, dark brown furniture , very elegant and sophisticated. The seats were extremely comfortable . Loved how romantic the ambience was. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Food: Very flavorful. The food was extremely delicious and the combination of flavors and ingredients were very creative. The plates were artistically designed and well presented. It was truly a fine dining experience in terms of taste and quality. It appeared to me that there was a lot of inspiration from other cuisines mixed with the local cuisine which made the food even more interesting. There was a touch of Mediterranean cuisine infused with every dish which not only did not affect the authenticity of the dish itself but added another complexity and color to it which I found very amusing. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Service: Excellent. There were plenty of staff on the floor attending the guests. Unlike what we have experienced with other restaurants in Iceland, where there weren’t enough team members attending the guests, this place had the right ratio and the staff were all very warm and were fully focused on the guest experience which was great to see. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Overall: Highly recommend it!
Mashiyaneh H — Google review
One of the city’s more stylish dining spots, set in a historic building that used to house a pharmacy. The interior blends a modern, upscale feel with touches of old-world charm, making it an inviting choice for a nice evening out. It’s centrally located, so it’s easy to include as part of a day exploring downtown. The menu is Icelandic with a creative twist, featuring local ingredients like lamb, fresh seafood, and Arctic char, often prepared with a contemporary or international influence. Presentation is elegant, and the dishes are crafted with attention to detail. Portion sizes aren’t huge, but the quality is consistently high, and the flavors are balanced. The cocktail menu is also a highlight, with inventive drinks that reflect the restaurant’s pharmacy heritage. Service is generally polished and attentive, though it can feel a bit brisk when the restaurant is busy. Prices are on the higher side, but in line with other fine dining spots in Reykjavík. Reservations are strongly recommended, as Apotek is popular with both locals and visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. The atmosphere manages to strike a balance between classy and relaxed, making it suitable for both a special occasion and a memorable night out during your trip. If you want to experience Reykjavík dining at its more refined, this is one of the best places to do it. Overall, Apotek Restaurant delivers on presentation, flavors, and atmosphere. While it’s not the most budget-friendly option, it’s a strong choice if you’re looking for a stylish dining experience that highlights Icelandic ingredients with creativity.

Took the 3 course set dinner. Portions are huge and delicious so make sure you come hungry. Cocktails are great too! The arctic char and cod were a bit salty but still delicious. The stars of the evening were the lamb tartare and lamb rump steak! Excellent service and great ambiance. Will definitely go back.

We visited Apotek Restaurant in Reykjavík and chose the 7-course tasting menu. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I truly appreciate good food — we’ve dined at Michelin-starred restaurants and many outstanding places around the world — but this restaurant absolutely amazed me. The service was flawless: we asked to change a few courses in the tasting menu, and our waitress carefully discussed everything with the chef. Each dish was perfectly thought out and beautifully executed. From the different kinds of fish to the lamb and even a vegetable steak — it was a true culinary journey. The evening ended with the most delightful dessert — local yogurt. Even though I was already full, this sweet course was so light and delicious that I couldn’t resist finishing it. Huge thanks to the chef, the entire team, and the professional staff for creating such an unforgettable evening. An absolute highlight of our trip!

We went there at 17:30 and there was no queue. By the time we finished, there was a line! So make sure to go early if you didn't book a table. I was longing for a lobster dish in Iceland and found this! The lobster is good though it doesn't look like the picture from instagram 😆 We also ordered the beef tenderloin, lamb rump steak, and a tiger prawn salad. Added crispy new potatoes as a side. Everything is amazingly delicious. It worth the price! ❤️ Best dinner in Iceland!
Abbie T — Google review
Great food excellent service. The menu was excellent with many options. Service was great. The wine selection is very broad. The cocktail was very nice as was dessert. Highly recommend the waguy appetizer.
Alexandra W — Google review
Apótek in Reykjavík was such a fun stop on our Iceland food journey. The building itself used to be the city’s main pharmacy, and you can still feel that history in the design. I even felt a little bit of mystery in the atmosphere, almost like the walls were holding on to old stories. We came here to try two Icelandic dishes: puffin and minke whale. The puffin was unlike anything I’ve ever had very fishy, like the ocean itself, since their diet is mostly fish. The minke whale surprised me with how tender and mild it was, almost like beef with a hint of the sea. Did you know this building was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, Iceland’s state architect who also created Hallgrímskirkja? That touch of history makes the dining experience even more unique. Just keep in mind this two dishes are enough for everyone. The flavors are very strong, but I like to say I try it once.

Small but very informational museum. I enjoyed their big room with videos of auroras from different locations; you can sit, or lay down of a bunch of futtons and beanbags. Very nice.

Cute museum about how the aurora borealis is formed. They had nice viewing areas to watch the different auroras that have been filmed over Iceland. The gift shop was really cute. You could buy and send postcards from there as well!
Vivi — Google review
What a lovely exhibit on the Auroras. Each section of the museum felt very thoughtfully curated and I was able to enjoy a relaxing stroll through on a rainy day. There is a feature where you learn how to set your camera settings on your phone to capture an aurora in a photo! That was cool. The virtual reality portion of the exhibit is wild! I could sit in those chairs for hours spinning around, enjoying the sights. Thank you again!

Very informative and learnt lots about the Northern Lights. Particularly enjoyed the selfie photos with a Northern Light scene behind us and free too! There’s a cafe and toilets there too. Staff were welcoming and friendly and advised/guided us to a nearby bus stop on return back to the hotel in the city.

Hello everybody, what an amazing evening out and beautiful colours of greens lighting up the sky in such a beautiful way I recommend this to anyone . we were so lucky to see this as the two previous days they weren’t available due to weather conditions. I went on the trip in December 1 week of 2024.

The location offers an excellent opportunity to learn about and observe the northern lights. Visitors have the chance to receive complimentary photos and GIFs taken at the site, which are emailed to them afterward. Additionally, they provide helpful advice on capturing your own pictures and videos of the northern lights.

Wonderful stop while seeing Reykjavik! Definitely worth seeing, the photography was breathtaking. Don't miss it! As a bonus, the Lava Show is literally next door... makes for a great two-fer. The gift shop has this DVD of the northern lights movie you get to see... something great to pick up.

Nordic House is a modern cultural center located near the University of Iceland, dedicated to showcasing and promoting Scandinavian heritage. Designed by renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, the building's harmonious design reflects his signature style. The center features exhibits, events, a library, shop, and restaurant. One of its highlights is an indoor playroom for young children with toys and books from various Nordic countries.
Mango and coconut cake w/ cream, it was moist inside with crunchy edges, a bit of baked coconut provided the crispy texture, the sourness of the mango sauce adorned the whole cake. The cake tasted super healthy, mostly because it is not sweet as normal cake, no mention it is far below the Icelandic sweetness level (Good because I don’t miss my dentist). Then we ordered Herbal Oat Lattes, excellent as usual. We had Rose coco and lavender, both smell & taste natural, because they put debris and powder made by real dried flowers. It was a quiet sunday afternoon, with the still pound view☺️ Cold air and calm day~

As a tourist passing through Reykjavík, I couldn’t have found a better spot to get some work done than the Nordic House. The space is bright, quiet, and beautifully designed, with big windows that let in soft daylight and offer peaceful views. It has that perfect balance of modern Scandinavian style and warm, cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The seating is comfortable, the Wi-Fi is reliable, and there’s a calm energy that makes focusing easy. It’s not just a place to work—it’s an experience in itself. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a peaceful workspace while exploring the city.

The Cafe here has a wonderful view of the lake. The ambience is fantastic. The all vegetarian menu is wonderful too. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Great music too. Would definitely revisit. The spinach pasta is amazing, as are the freshly baked cakes. The library here is also the most compelling reason to learn a Scandinavian language I've come across..

The art gallery iurie is a beautiful place to find Icelandic natural beauty represented by friendly and pretty ladies. It is highly recommended for all visiting Iceland.
Beautiful and unique artwork of Icelandic landscapes. Adrian was extremely kind and welcoming. I am excited to have a piece of Iceland with me back home.
Mary D — Google review
In Reykjavik, this gallery is an absolute must-see! I truly loved Iurie’s art – but even more, I loved the way we were treated there. The ladies gave us such a warm and welcoming feeling. It wasn’t about making a sale – it was about understanding what we were looking for and helping us connect with the art. We first bought two small pieces – and came back the next day to get a larger one for our home. Yes, it’s not cheap – but it’s worth every single cent! We absolutely love our piece of art and all the memories tied to it. Thank you so much – especially to Ziva, Maria, and Anne for making this experience so special!

I had the pleasure of visiting the gallery recently, and I was truly impressed by the kindness and warmth shown by Jojo Kuai. She took the time to personally guide us through the collection, sharing insightful stories behind each piece. It was clear that she genuinely cared about making our visit special. Thank you for such a memorable experience, Jojo! Highly recommend visiting this gallery if you're looking for both great art and excellent hospitality.

Incredible photographs and beautiful printing and frames. We wandered by and Anne was extremely knowledgeable and patient with us. We ended up buying one of the large prints and she kindly offered us 3 smaller prints along with it. They arrived safely home and we couldn't be happier with them.

We have this art piece from iurie that's just beautiful and it really makes the space. The colors are amazing and so vibrant! The piece really encapsulates Icelandic nature to its core and the feeling of being in Ásbyrgi (the place in the photo), I get a warm feeling every time I walk past it.

Awesome whiskey bar. The staff were amazing and the selection of whiskey was top-notch. We had the chance to see live music on Thursday and it was an awesome classic rock/blues band. Really fun little spot in the middle of downtown. Make sure you check it out.

The Super Mario Bros Wall Mural by Juan Pictures Art @juanpicturesart is a delightful find in Reykjavik, featuring a unique blend of Nintendo's iconic character with Icelandic elements like geysers and puffins. This charming mural has garnered praise for its talented artistry and is a must-see for fans of Super Mario and street art enthusiasts. While slightly outside the city center, it's worth the visit to admire this creative fusion of pop culture and local flair.
Love this wall - an Iceland-themed Mario level 🩵 We made the mistake of walking from downtown Reykjavik to see it (20+ minutes each way) but it was still worth it to me. The attention to detail and the brilliantly executed 8-bit style is more impressive than it seems initially. Worth a quick drive to take a look at it.
Chad T — Google review
A fun piece of wall art not far from city centre. Worth a look if you are in the area. The artist has done quite a lot of commissions around the city and we really likes the ones at Freyja bar which I included here.

This wall is very impressive and probably more cool for Nintendo fans. It’s just a wall by a great artist which is ok. There’s not much more to expect. It’s a good random place to pass if you’re near the area but probably not worth trekking far to see.

Cannot say enough great things about the Nine Worlds team, the luxury division of this company. My husband and I took our long overdue honeymoon this summer and everything was absolutely perfect. They provided top-notch service at every hotel, added special treats, like champagne and desserts, and treated us like royalty. We even had an excursion get canceled due to bad weather, and the team jumped right on it, rescheduled the excursion and, we didn’t have to lift a finger. The itinerary wasn’t disrupted and every detail was thought of. Would highly recommend this team for any travel that you are doing around Iceland. Trip of a lifetime! And all thanks to the team at Nine Worlds.

Great experience with Iceland Travel! As the organizer of a two-day "reward" trip for the 45 people in my company, the two Mathieu's from the agency were great helpers in making this challenge a success. Their ideas and varied suggestions for unusual activities before departure and their flawless organization once on site made this trip a real success. We spent two crazy days and one unforgettable evening under the midnight sun! Thank you for your creativity, kindness and good humor. I'm not sure I could have done it without them! It all made us want to do it again.

Don’t book tours with them. Never ever We been with them while on a HL Cruise. They made a fortune with them. But service was really bad. They stop at the most uninterested boring places but not a the best. We ask to stop at a place where was a parking spot. I costed money. I say I pay it. Was just for 5 minutes to get a picture of Kirkjufell. They advertise it on the FB page to make photos there. And they won’t stop there. For a turnover of 15000€ I expect a bit of service. They only chasing money. At the end there was no time to walk back to Kirkjufell. So I got no picture of it. That was the main reason I’ve make the tour. At the end the Guide beg for tips and didn’t want to give me information about the company. I say it again. Don’t go on your with them, unless you want to trow your money away like we did. The second picture is my memory of it PS: Google don’t allow a screenshot from their FB page. Here’s the post: Hier: Kirkjufell - Here is a challenge for you: try passing Kirkjufell mountain without taking a photo! is We bet you won't be able to resist once you see this picturesque mountain. A couple of angles make the most popular photographs. The first one is by Kirkufellsfoss waterfall on the left side of the road. The waterfall becomes an ideal foreground for the photo. The second one is on the other side of the main road, where the foreground image is a small lake. On a still day, you can get fantastic photos of Kirkjufell symmetrically reflected on the lake. Add Kirkjufell to your next project.
Pat E — Google review
Do not book with this company. Their customer service is only providing you with support up until you make your last payment which is prior to your arrival in the country. They claim they are available to respond to your questions while you are on travel - that’s a lie. Nobody is available, they are not responding to neither emails nor your calls. We will never book with them again.
Takeitezforever — Google review
Iceland Travel lacks customer service. The office manager held the position that they are not at fault from the very start since she based everything on email hence your phone calls to the agents do not count. Despite air itinerary disconnected between office staff and customers and when we were instructed to take a taxi to catch up with the group at the next destination, the manager sent me an email accusing me that I chose to take the more expensive mode of transportation instead of the buses. When I confronted her that we were instructed to take a taxi she decided to reimbursed us half the cost for the taxi ride. At my own expense that I also spoke with the office manager and advised her of the taxi ride instructed by her staff, but her selective memory decided to throw the verbal insult at me but after her confirming with her staff that indeed I was instructed to take a taxi, the manager decided to reimbursed me for half the cost. So this 100euro is definitely no goodwill and dang I was cheap! My husband and I have been to 32 countries but this is the first time that we had to book our own air travel. When I was unsure I even called the agency to confirm but I guess there is a major disconnect between Iceland Tour office staff and I. So phone calls are not going to save you if anything goes wrong. The manager will only go by email communications hence her position was that the whole fiasco was our fault. They are sweet peas when nothing goes wrong but refuses to acknowledge their shares of mistakes. The South Coast, Golden Circle & Snaefellsnes itinerary is actually really light. There's a lot of driving to cover the vast distances but not much time is spent at each site; maybe due to the cold weather or the group we had. In order to keep the tour package cost down, the dinner has only one course, anything else you want will be out of your own pocket. Lunch was cafeteria style at Tourists Visit center. Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura is old and has a musky smell but you will get used to it or too tired to care; however the front desk was very helpful. Icelandair Hotel Fluoir is another old hotel and doesn't even have coffee or tea available in the room. This package is supposed to be 7 days and 6 nights. First day is on your own and it's your arrival day, and last day is departure so it is really 5 days and 4 nights. If they would quicken the pace a tad, the itinerary itself only calls for 3 days and 2 nights and at best it should be 4 days and 3 nights. The local guide Erling is good. For this tour, there was a total of 6 in the group and the eldest couple is in their 90s and the other couple is in the 70s. We are in our 50s and so very slow pace.

I've had such a great experience with Iceland Travel during each of my three trips to Iceland. The people who work there are so knowledgeable about Iceland's history and culture and excited to teach you all about their fascinating and beautiful country. I couldn't recommend them more! What other tour company offers you the opportunity to plant a tree with your family and adopt an Icelandic goat?! You really get an authentic experience when you book with Iceland Travel. Also highly recommend the trip to Siglufjordur. It's an adorable little town. We saw amazing Northern Lights there.

Congratulations on the excellent 9-day/8-night "Iceland Complete" tour that Iceland Travel performs and the excellent work done by Gudny Margrét Emilsdóttir guide and bus driver Tommy. My wife and I had the opportunity to be part of the group of 29 people who took this tour between the 1st and 9th of this month, where 2 more Portuguese couples also participated. All participants liked it, but on behalf of the group of 6 Portuguese, I would like to express our thanks for the fact that the itinerary is actually "complete", covering the entire island in a true circle, including namely 5 dinners and several extra nature visits, such as microbrewery & beer tasting, Folk Museum, Herring Era Maritime Museum and Horse Show. But what we would especially like to highlight was the way the tour was carried out, that is, not only the performance of the guide GUDNY throughout the monitoring, with a high level of fellowship, competence and professionalism, but also the careful work of conducting and stowing the luggage provided by driver Tommy. Your company deserves this recognition and we wish you every success in the return of tourism in Iceland. Greetings from Portugal! Well done!

I booked a tour for January with Iceland Photo Tours. A few days before the start date, their partners (Guide to Iceland) informed me that part of the package had been canceled. Due to poor communication between the two companies, I assumed the entire trip had been canceled. Guide to Iceland refunded me for their services, but Iceland Photo Tours refuses to refund the rest, even though I purchased cancellation insurance with them. They claim I didn’t use it in time, when in reality I thought their partners were handling the full cancellation. It’s been over 5 months, and I’m still trying to recover approximately $1,200 with legal assistance. Very disappointing.

In September 2018 I departed on an adventure of a lifetime, to photograph Greenland’s Scoresby Sound with Iceland Photo Tours. This 8 day tour fulfilled every expectation I had, a comfortable classic vessel to navigate the Iceberg rich waterways, deliver us to sensational land locations to explore on foot areas that truly take your breath away. Our crew on the Donna Wood couldn’t have been more helpful in getting us to the right location at the right time to capture the best image that was possible. Catering was superb from the ships galley and I am positive we all went home a few pounds heavier. A very special thanks to our tour guide Kathleen Croft for without her hard work and dedication ensuring that every individual on the tour had a full understanding of their equipment made our trip very enjoyable, she virtually guaranteed that all on the tour would go home with images that will be shown and spoken about for many years to come. On our tour the partisans’ had varied skills and experience with photography, from never have picked up camera before to competent photographs, so if you are contemplating a trip with Iceland Photo Tours you could not go wrong in having Kathleen as your tour guide. I look forward to catching up with friends made on this tour and making new ones on my next tour, thank you Iceland Photo Tours for a truly memorable tour. Regards Neville Thorogood
