Hot dog restaurant
Restaurant
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, which means "the best hot dog in town," is a legendary food stand located in central Reykjavik. Established in 1937, this humble stand has achieved cult status and is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The Icelandic version of the American hot dog served here features a unique blend of organic lamb, pork, and beef.
Pleasantly surprised. I was sure i wasn't going to like it. I'm not much of a hot dog person but had to try this famous hot dog with everything. Delicious! The crispy onions is such a good topping. Line was a bit long but it went quick. There are several table tops to get a quick bite and drink.
Vanessa R — Google review
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is probably the most famous hot dog stand in Iceland, and it’s become a bit of a tourist attraction in its own right. The location in central Reykjavík makes it easy to stop by, but be prepared for long lines, especially around lunchtime or in the evenings when tour groups and locals alike crowd in. The hot dogs themselves are tasty and hit the spot if you’re after a quick snack, but they don’t necessarily live up to the massive hype. Many visitors, and even locals, will tell you that you can find hot dogs at gas stations across Iceland that are just as good or even better. What really makes Bæjarins Beztu stand out are the sauces and toppings, especially if you order one “with everything” — crispy onions, raw onions, mustard, ketchup, and remoulade. The service is fast and straightforward, but don’t expect anything fancy; this is a simple hot dog stand with limited seating nearby. Prices are reasonable for Reykjavík, though like everything in Iceland, not exactly cheap compared to elsewhere. If you want to try it for the experience and say you’ve been, it’s worth doing once, especially if you happen to be in the area outside of peak hours. But if the line is long and you’re pressed for time, you’re not really missing out on anything life-changing. The real charm is the history and reputation, not necessarily the food itself. Overall, Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is fun for the novelty and a quick bite, but manage your expectations. It’s a hot dog with good toppings, not a culinary revelation, and you can find equally satisfying versions in many other spots around Iceland.
R — Google review
The best hot dogs I've ever had. Consistently amazing. If you come to Iceland then you have to get at least one hot dog and if you do you should get it from here. I would absolutely recgomend anyone to get a hot dog with everything, but if you just like a standard hot dog then ask for one with ketchup and yellow mustard. I could easily eat five of these in one go. Its not as cheap as it used to be but please go here, you wont regret it!
Bill B — Google review
As tourists, we read that trying the hot dogs from Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is a must. We were expecting a long line since many people mentioned it. Luckily, there was no line at all when we arrived. For the experience, I’d definitely recommend it, even though the flavor isn’t mind-blowing, it’s really good and tasty. Make sure to order it “with everything” to get the full experience! The mix of crispy onions, raw onions, and sweet mustard is a unique and delicious combination that’s definitely worth trying if you’re exploring the full Icelandic experience.
Liz A — Google review
This tiny hotdog stand has become extremely popular but the quality is amazing. Had to have two. An Icelandic hot dog is made with a blend of lamb, pork, and beef, and served on a steamed bun with toppings including ketchup, raw white onions, crispy fried onions, sweet brown mustard, and a creamy remoulade sauce. The wait isn't long though as each hot dog is assembled in about 3 seconds. The small footprint is efficient with little movement needed between order/pay, hotdog, and beverage. There are tables that can hold your hotdog but watch out for hungry birds as they will take it if you aren't careful! Highly recommend regardless of weather as long as it is open!
Dylan S — Google review
No harm to try, it tastes good but don’t expect any special, 880isk/hotdog. The only difference from other hotdog is the crispy onion in it. (Yet I tried hotdog in other restaurant in Ireland also taste similar with that crispy onion) Cos of the cold weather, I bought a hot chocolate milk too, and as a result it was a carton box of chocolate milk in 390sk 😂 not in my expectation. BTW, no line when I bought around noon time on weekday in November 2025.
Suki L — Google review
People saying that they are get sick after eating it. So i was eating from here straight for a 5 days and I didn’t feel anything bad, just tasty hotdog. I can tell you that the sausage by itself is overall good but the thing makes it perfect is the fresh cut onions with it’s tasty sauce! A perfect combo for hotdog.
Berly H — Google review
I was told that Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur translates to the Best Hot Dogs in Town/City and it's on point! These are infact to my knowledge, the best of the best hot dog's I've EVER had! Note: you can buy all the ingredients, hot dogs and buns from a local supermarket and make them yourself and that's a great pro-tip for camping, camper vans, etc. But, boy there is nothing better than having it served to you from Baejarins with a delicious, ice cold Egils Appelsín to scarf all down or eat it while walking the streets of Reykjavik taking in the sites and shopping! Enjoy!

Seafood restaurant
Reykjavik Fish Restaurant offers a variety of classic Icelandic dishes such as fish and chips, mussels and fries, and plokkari. The restaurant also serves a selection of local and imported beers. Situated in a cozy setting with views of docked fishing boats, it provides an authentic dining experience with freshly hauled seafood. Customers have enjoyed the delicious seafood soup and the incredible fish and chips.
Fish and chips were so good. Tasted very fresh. I don’t normally like tartar sauce but theirs was great. Nice environment to catch up with friends and rest from shopping.
Veronica S — Google review
Came close to 9pm and not much diners. Ordered our meals over the counter before making our way to the seats. Ordered the fish and chips which taste good on its own and also with vinegar. Added on mixed seafood and fish stew. The fish stew is very thick and has a strong peppery taste. The mixed seafood comes with salmon, cod and some other seafood in a curry-like gravy. The ingredients are fresh and food is delicious.

We had great time and tasty food at this restaurant. We were larger group, but we managed to find a seating space. Fish and chips was great and fried perfectly. Really tasty and cooked perfectly. Staff was nice and helpful which just added to our experience at this place. I would recommend to stop by and try it.

Best Fish & Chips I have ever had! Piping hot, perfectly fried batter & the fish (Cod) was incredible. We split an order for a light lunch & it was a perfect portion. Highly recommend.
Victor A — Google review
Middle of the road food make this place a back-up option but not a destination. We checked out Reykjavik Fish after getting off a whale watching tour and our group mostly went for the fish and chips. The quality of the fish was good, but overall it was 'ok' and the chips were not anything special.
Lee B — Google review
Genourous amount of fish, beautiful served dishes. The fried fish was tender but was missing salt I think (so no amount of salt I added myself really helped). The Arctic chart was a little dry to my taste
Orian E — Google review
Food was excellent and quick. Decent price. I wish the amount was a little more, but I guess it's a good trade off for the cost.
Clifton R — Google review
I had the Traditional Plokkari and it was just as comforting and delicious. The price has gone up by about 1,000 krónur compared to a few years ago, but honestly, it’s still worth it. We just can’t find authentic Icelandic mashed potato and fish bakes like this in the US. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a local dish.

Fish and Chips Vagninn is a popular red food truck located at Vesturbugt, the westernmost part of Reykjavik's harbor. Run by a family that also owns fishing vessels and a processing plant, this food truck offers top-quality fish caught by the owners themselves. While not the most traditional fast food in Iceland, it has gained popularity for its delectable offerings such as fish and chips with various toppings and an amazing tartar sauce.
It’s safe to say this is the best fish and chips in Reykjavík! The portion is generous enough to satisfy a big appetite, the fish is fresh with perfectly crispy batter, and the chips are thick and delicious. The place is small, seating around ten people, but it’s spotless and pleasantly free of any old oil smell. Highly recommended!
Gudmundur J — Google review
The fish and chips were freshly put on when we ordered but I was so disappointed they were just frozen chips not fresh traditional chip shop style. The fish had a good crispy batter but it was otherwise tasteless and portion I thought was small. Price I guess is typical Iceland but £35 for two fish and chips and a small can of juice still makes me gag.
Will M — Google review
I'm not sure if they were having an off day, maybe they were running out of fish or something but the portion size of the fish was ridiculously small for the cost. It was gone in 3 mouthfuls. The batter was pale and a little tasteless and it seemed to be undercooked. It felt they were trying to compensate for the lack of fish by overloading the box with chips. The staff are polite enough but that doesn't make up for how much they charge in relation to the abysmal amount of fish.
Martyn Q — Google review
We recently ordered from the Fish & Chips Wagon in the Zone B section of the Rejk Eco Campsite. Opening hours from 5pm to late. They keep things simple with the menu selling Fish and chips, mushy peas, sauce and drinks. Prices are reasonable, service friendly and as timely as can be expected depending on how busy they are. Chips were fried nicely as was the cod fillet which was fresh and tasted just fine. There is malt vinegar and salt available. Happy with our order, would be glad to repeat. There are a handful of picnic tables outside the wagon. Orders are nicely packed if you need to walk them back to your campers or RVs in other areas of the campsite.

Some of the best fish & Chips I’ve ever had. The staff was nice and the service was swift
Pin-Che L — Google review
Fish and chips were nice and freshly made. Service could've been more friendly as staff weren't that interested. Would have to say it's not the best I've had but the chips were amazing.
Clara — Google review
We went past this fish and chips shop whilst on the Hop on Hop off bus, we stayed the whole route getting off in the old port and decided to visit this shop as it looked quaint. Once inside it sold only fish and chips, no sausage or fishcakes or the like, we had fish, chips and mushy peas which along with the service and frying was excellent. We found out the cod was line caught in their boat then processed just down the road, so it was very fresh. Coming from Grimsby, England which was a large fishing port we grew up appreciating quality fish and chips and this was just that "Proper fish and chips"

101 Reykjavik Street Food is a cozy eatery located in the heart of Reykjavik, offering a small but delightful menu featuring meat, veggie, and seafood soups along with fried fish. The highlight of their menu is the delicious and rich lobster soup that has won over many visitors. Additionally, this street food market operates seasonally on Saturdays from July to August at Fogetagardhur Square, where tourists can savor various foods like pulled pork and burgers.
We had our first dinner here and we were absolutely impressed. It may not look like much but give it a shot. Located right on rainbow road this place has the BEST fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. We sat upstairs and quickly knew we wanted fish and chips. They came out fast. Sauces are on a table upstairs you can use and you share with others and free water on the table too you can help yourself to. The fish was cooked perfectly and not fishy at all. The best Cod ever. So fresh, crispy, but not too battered or fried. The fries were tasty and well seasoned. I’d come back again if I was here longer!
Steph S — Google review
The prices are very reasonable, but the food was disappointing. The beef noodle soup was far too salty, and the fish stew tasted more like a sour tuna salad than what I expected from an Icelandic fish stew. The Icelandic traditional lamb soup was the only dish that felt authentic and tasted fine. Overall, most dishes were simply too salty.
Andrea — Google review
It's a cute place to grab a bite while sight seeing in Reykjavik. It was right in between two places I needed to be and I had not yet had my monthly fish I am allowed to have. The fish and chips were good. The fish was flaky and juicy while the batter was nice and crispy. The price is average for Reykjavik but high for people from the US! The atmosphere was okay, nothing special, but the employees were friendly and gave decent service.
Fit G — Google review
This place worked out pretty great for our group of 14. The staff was very helpful in getting the tables and everything set up for us and we didn’t have to wait long at all. As far as the food goes, the fish and chips were great… the batter had a slight curry taste, which was different, but delicious! We wanted the beef noodle soup, but unfortunately they were out, so we got the chicken noodle soup instead. I would not recommend the soup. Overall, I would revisit here.
Kaela S — Google review
This bright yellow restaurant is located on Reykjavík’s famous Rainbow Street, one of the city’s popular tourist spots. After finishing a day of sightseeing, I visited the restaurant for an early dinner around 6 p.m. It’s basically a table-service restaurant, but water and cutlery are self-serve. We ordered the lobster soup and the fish & chips. The lobster soup was served in a deep bowl, but at first glance, it was hard to tell if there was any lobster in it. When I scooped it up with a spoon, I found only a few small pieces of shellfish—so small that it was difficult to tell whether they were lobster or shrimp—and the appearance was quite different from the photos. Unfortunately, the flavor also lacked any real hint of lobster. I couldn’t help but think that a regular seafood soup might have been more satisfying. The fish & chips were also served in a bowl. The fried fish had a light, crispy batter with tender, juicy white fish inside. The fries were crispy and perfectly cooked—very satisfying overall. However, serving them in a bowl made cutting the fish rather difficult; a plate might have been more practical (though of course I respect the restaurant’s serving style). It’s a casual spot, so it could be a good choice for a relaxed, easygoing meal.
HiDe86 — Google review
We got some fish and chips here and both were really good. The fish especially is incredibally tasty and fresh. The fries are also great (not chip shop chips like in the UK). We got them to take away as we were staying near by, the seating was up stairs so you would get a nice view of the rainbow street. The food was very pricey but it is Reykjavik!
Bill B — Google review
Terrific street food here at 101 Reykjavik. Order the local soup stew fare or some noodle soups and it'll heat your cold selves. Amazing staff, some of whom are Filipinos, too. Super friendly staff! It has a simple interior, but ample space in the 2nd floor, and it works with the concept. One of my happiest meals in Iceland during my trip October 2024. Sorry this is quite late a review but better late than never! Salamat po, mga Pinoy staff. Excellent service as ever.
Abe C — Google review
I enjoyed my fish and chips. The cod was soft & tasty and the batter nice & crispy full of flavour. It was served with diced lettuce & a slice of lemon. The spicy mayonnaise sauce to go with the fish was good too. I don't agree with serving the dish in a small bowl. It makes it alot more tricky to eat and it affects the overall flavour as the chips & lettuce were the bed for the cod fillets. We sat upstairs which was great as it was spacious & quiet.

Apotek Restaurant, located in Reykjavik, Iceland, is housed in a historic pharmacy building and offers a unique dining experience. The restaurant serves delicious small plates and main courses such as sea trout on a Himalayan salt block and char-grilled beef tenderloin. Additionally, the cozy lounge at Apotek is known for serving some of the best cocktails in Reykjavik, including creative concoctions like the Dillagin and Rodaberg.
It was extremely delicious. We order set of 3 pieces. And it was tasty and very nice looking. The portions were big, so we even haven’t managed to finish our main course. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the restaurant gifted us with two glasses of Champaign which was very nice. We were there at Friday evening and it was full, atmosphere was very nice as well

Ambience: Very well design venue. Dim lighting, dark brown furniture , very elegant and sophisticated. The seats were extremely comfortable . Loved how romantic the ambience was. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Food: Very flavorful. The food was extremely delicious and the combination of flavors and ingredients were very creative. The plates were artistically designed and well presented. It was truly a fine dining experience in terms of taste and quality. It appeared to me that there was a lot of inspiration from other cuisines mixed with the local cuisine which made the food even more interesting. There was a touch of Mediterranean cuisine infused with every dish which not only did not affect the authenticity of the dish itself but added another complexity and color to it which I found very amusing. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Service: Excellent. There were plenty of staff on the floor attending the guests. Unlike what we have experienced with other restaurants in Iceland, where there weren’t enough team members attending the guests, this place had the right ratio and the staff were all very warm and were fully focused on the guest experience which was great to see. ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ Overall: Highly recommend it!

One of the city’s more stylish dining spots, set in a historic building that used to house a pharmacy. The interior blends a modern, upscale feel with touches of old-world charm, making it an inviting choice for a nice evening out. It’s centrally located, so it’s easy to include as part of a day exploring downtown. The menu is Icelandic with a creative twist, featuring local ingredients like lamb, fresh seafood, and Arctic char, often prepared with a contemporary or international influence. Presentation is elegant, and the dishes are crafted with attention to detail. Portion sizes aren’t huge, but the quality is consistently high, and the flavors are balanced. The cocktail menu is also a highlight, with inventive drinks that reflect the restaurant’s pharmacy heritage. Service is generally polished and attentive, though it can feel a bit brisk when the restaurant is busy. Prices are on the higher side, but in line with other fine dining spots in Reykjavík. Reservations are strongly recommended, as Apotek is popular with both locals and visitors, especially in the evenings and on weekends. The atmosphere manages to strike a balance between classy and relaxed, making it suitable for both a special occasion and a memorable night out during your trip. If you want to experience Reykjavík dining at its more refined, this is one of the best places to do it. Overall, Apotek Restaurant delivers on presentation, flavors, and atmosphere. While it’s not the most budget-friendly option, it’s a strong choice if you’re looking for a stylish dining experience that highlights Icelandic ingredients with creativity.

Took the 3 course set dinner. Portions are huge and delicious so make sure you come hungry. Cocktails are great too! The arctic char and cod were a bit salty but still delicious. The stars of the evening were the lamb tartare and lamb rump steak! Excellent service and great ambiance. Will definitely go back.

We visited Apotek Restaurant in Reykjavík and chose the 7-course tasting menu. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I truly appreciate good food — we’ve dined at Michelin-starred restaurants and many outstanding places around the world — but this restaurant absolutely amazed me. The service was flawless: we asked to change a few courses in the tasting menu, and our waitress carefully discussed everything with the chef. Each dish was perfectly thought out and beautifully executed. From the different kinds of fish to the lamb and even a vegetable steak — it was a true culinary journey. The evening ended with the most delightful dessert — local yogurt. Even though I was already full, this sweet course was so light and delicious that I couldn’t resist finishing it. Huge thanks to the chef, the entire team, and the professional staff for creating such an unforgettable evening. An absolute highlight of our trip!

We went there at 17:30 and there was no queue. By the time we finished, there was a line! So make sure to go early if you didn't book a table. I was longing for a lobster dish in Iceland and found this! The lobster is good though it doesn't look like the picture from instagram 😆 We also ordered the beef tenderloin, lamb rump steak, and a tiger prawn salad. Added crispy new potatoes as a side. Everything is amazingly delicious. It worth the price! ❤️ Best dinner in Iceland!

Noodle shop
Fast food restaurant
Noodle Station in Reykjavik offers a cozy respite from the city's chilly winds with its hearty Thai-style noodle soups. The restaurant provides a straightforward and delicious experience, allowing patrons to choose from beef, chicken, or veggie options. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors seeking to warm up with piping hot noodle soup on cold days.
This place is freaking awesome!! I’m of Asian decent and was not expecting to find such a unique soup in Iceland. I think it might just be the best soup I never had! Sometimes soups aren’t very filling, but this soup is so I highly recommend it. Absolutely no compromises as service as also very nice and quick.

I lived in China for 6 years and this is some of the best beef noodles I've ever had. Rich broth with a little sweetness. Beef was fall-apart tender. Noodles perfectly cooked. Chili oil was AWESOME. Actually spicy. Also, very reasonably priced compared to average restaurant in the city...bout $14 a bowl. Very surprised to find this in Iceland of all places!
Will W — Google review
Entered this place without any expectations but so good we had it twice during my stay. I tried vegetable noodle soup. It was a good serving. They put the soaked hot rice noodles first, then the soup, sprouts, crushed peanuts and if you feel daring, you can make it extra spicy. This is the best noodle soup I have ever tried. The soup is so beautifully made, there were loads of flavours, there was something about this soup that was making us feel so good and contempt. May be that's umami. Over all one of the best place to eat in Iceland. I loved it.
Amruth S — Google review
Service was fast and welcoming! If you want "A little bit of spice" ask for no spice-- the noodles have a nice amount of flavor without an additional kick. I had the chicken noodles which had a good amount of meat and veg, with more of a "curry soup" vibe. Absolutely yummy!

No fuss noodle shop. The key to a delicious bowl of noodle is in the broth…and they nailed it. The menu has three options only…very straight forward and perfect for when you’re not in the mood to scan through a long list of options & ingredients. Rich and delicious noodles reasonably priced for Reykjavik.
Blog V — Google review
Delicious, lots of noodles and meat, and a really tasteful soup. The only negative is that they could have more different vegetables. Cheap and tasty. The cheapest place in Reykjavik if you want good and warm food. The restaurant is quite boring and its a cheap look. But if you dont care about that i can highly recommend this place. I saw three different noodlesoup on the menu, meat, chicken and vegetables. So you choose the topping you want. It's location is behind busstop no 10, perfect after a long day in the mountains.

My bf and I came here looking for a hearty broth-y noodle soup to warm us up on a blustery Reykjavík night and Noodle Station did not disappoint. The menu is 3 things (which I usually take as a good sign. In my experience, the fewer the number of items on the menu, the better they’re cooked): they have beef, chicken, and veggie noodles. We wanted to share a beef and a chicken so we could sample everything they had to offer. Unfortunately, they were out of chicken when we ordered. No matter. We both got the beef noodles (spicy, of course!) and it was so delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, the broth was super tasty, the portions were huge, and the price was very affordable, esp by Reykjavík standards. Highly recommend ❤️🍜 And don’t forget to check your bowl when you finish!
Kristina — Google review
A place you need to visit if you are in Reykjavik. The noodles are super delicious and the portion is quite generous, and the price is the lowest i could find in the downtown. I'd say that if you are low on money and really hungry, a noodle soup on this place will make your day!

Located in downtown Reykjavik, The Steakhouse is a top-notch restaurant known for its specialty steaks. They take pride in their Mibrasa charcoal oven, the only one of its kind in the country, and use high-quality Yakitori charcoal to ensure consistent cooking and enhance the meat's flavor.
ABSOLUTELY EAT HERE! It was that amazing we are here twice! The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond! Nothing was too much trouble! The first night we went for a beef steak and then the next night we went for a variety of beef steaks, burgers along with whale and horse steaks! All the food was AMAZING and the best steak that I have ever had! I also have a gluten allergy and the staff were knowledgeable around what could be eaten and there were loads of options! We also celebrated my mums birthday here and the staff definitely added to the celebrations to make special memories.

One of the best restaurants I have been in a while. The atmosphere was great but what stands out is their staff, the food and attention to detail. We went for anniversary dinner and was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing, the meat was amazingly cook, the dessert was a dream and the attention was absolutely marvelous, our waiter was really nice. It is a little expensive restaurant but is worth it.

Simply the best restaurant in Iceland. Not just a Steakhouse. This place tops every single restaurant in Iceland. There's nowhere on this island you'll get a better or higher quality meal. Their steaks are immaculate from their tenderloin to the Icelandic dry aged rib eye aged in house. Their burger is the absolute best in whole of Iceland. Made with offcuts of their steaks. Excellent selection of wines along with incredibly knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is unmatched and you'll leave like your standard of what a good steak is has been vastly elevated. This restaurant is frequented by locals and is fully booked most nights. I personally visit multiple times a month.

Made a reservation 3 weeks before. We had the mojito and whisky sour which were delicious. We got the scallop appetizer and then I got the lobster tail and my husband got the whale and horse. He loved the whale. My lobster was super delicious, fresh and the salad was also delicious. Would recommend again.

The best lamb I’ve ever had in Europe — and honestly, the best meal of my trip! The lamb was so tender and flavorful that it didn’t even need any sauce. You can really taste the pure, fresh flavor of the meat. The butter corn was also super tasty. This was my first meal in Reykjavik, and I highly recommend it to everyone! It’s a bit pricey, but everything else was perfect. Oh, and the tiramisu was just okay — but the lamb is a must-try!

One of the best restaurants located right near the water. Quiet and cozy atmosphere, with pleasant background music. The waiter is attentive and friendly, and service is fast. The steak was heavenly, very tender, the fries (or chips) were crispy and well-salted, and the dessert was equally delicious. Everything is homemade and freshly prepared. Overall, it is highly recommended and worth visiting again and again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fantastic culinary experience in Reykjavík! The Steakhouse is an absolute must-visit if you're looking for high-quality Icelandic cuisine with a great atmosphere. The highlight for me was trying the whale meat, which was cooked perfectly and full of unique flavor a rare experience you won’t find in many places. The restaurant also offers local Icelandic shots, which were a fun and authentic addition to the meal and made the evening even more memorable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the presentation of every dish was excellent. Prices are fair for the quality, and the whole experience feels both local and special. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Reykjavík who wants to taste something truly Icelandic in a stylish and welcoming setting! 🇮🇸🥩🍷

The menu offers traditional burgers as well as unique options like the Mr Peanut Butter burger and the Hammborgaramuffin.
Great burger. The location wasn’t far from a couple of the hotels in the area. The food was good, the burger was good more on the rare side. Tasted great. The fries were very similar to McDonald style fries. They took visa and Mastercard.

The atmosphere was decent, and the staff was kind. Quite a bit of wait time (to order and to receive food). The food did not reflect the prices at all. One appetizer (nachos), and a burger meal with a soda $70 USD.

Me and my husband stayed in Iceland for a few days and this was one of the first restaurants we found.. and absolutely loved it! The presentation of the food was great, and it tasted even better. The gentleman who served us was lovely, and we were in & out within about 45 minutes. I’d definitely recommend 😊

We had lunch at Islenska Hamborgarafabrikkan in Reykjavík and the food did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious — juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. I went for a double patty just in case, and while it hit the spot, even a single would’ve likely been enough for most people. Portion sizes were decent and the overall presentation was great. The total for two meals came to around 67€, which isn’t cheap, but it felt fair for Reykjavík standards given the quality. The only real downside was the service. There were no waiters attending tables, so despite being the only customers at the time, we had to wait quite a while to be seated, to order, and then to actually get the food. It felt a bit disorganized, which was frustrating considering how empty the place was. Great food, but the service could definitely use some improvement.

Many of our orders got mixed up. The food was rather simple and bland. The interior is nice and there's a nice view of the surroundings and Höfði. For this price I will go somewhere else next time.

After being sat down, I think they forgot about me and I had to flag a server down. I ordered the animal Park Burger, which had great flavour and was definitely tasty. It’s a shame that the egg, while runny, was Ice cold, and the burger was Luke warm at best, the only hot part of the food, was the fries. The service wasn’t great, but adequate, although the staff did seem obsessed gathered around a screen at the bar and looking at that, not sure what was going on there. If the food has been hot, the rating would have been higher, real shame.

I stumbled upon this place by accident and was happy I did. The food was prepared to perfection. The chicken strips are all meat with a nice thing but crispy breading. The burgers were amazing. A few tables had children that were making a scene and parents did not have them stay at their table. The kids climbed over the seating and on the cow in the back, truly put a damper on a great meal.

Valdís is a popular ice cream shop in Reykjavik that has been a local favorite since it opened in 2013. It offers a wide variety of innovative and unique flavors, with some inspired by customer suggestions. The shop is known for its experimental options like beer and curry ice cream, as well as more traditional choices such as chocolate and peanut butter.
Valdís is an absolute gem for ice cream lovers! The variety of unique flavors and creamy texture make it a standout spot. I tried their local flavors and they were deliciously rich and perfectly balanced. The waffle cones are freshly made and add that extra layer of indulgence. The ambience is cozy and inviting, and the staff are friendly and helpful when recommending flavors. Whether you're strolling by or craving a sweet treat in Iceland, this place is a must visit. Highly recommend!

Valdís is one of the colourful ice cream places I’ve ever been to! 🍦 The variety of flavors is amazing – from classic favorites to unique, creative ones you won’t find elsewhere. The texture is creamy, the taste is bit different but good. The staff is friendly and patient, happily letting you sample before you decide. Eggless options were also available. The vibe of the place is cheerful and cozy, making it perfect for families, friends, or even a solo treat.

The attitude of the lady behind the counter was horrible. I went with my wife wanting to buy their ice cream. We requested to try the flavors and was was told that my sample quota is up on 2nd try.(First try: Pistachio, 2nd try: Rye bread). *Both flavors are horrible*. After asking, I was told that 1 person is only entitled to try 2 flavors. Even if you share the sample, you are also considered tried the sample. So end up, me and my wife only try 2 flavors and we ended up buying the chocolate flavor ones. We went there seeing so many videos on social media recommending it. But honestly, I will not recommend this store at all.

Hlöllabátar, located in downtown Reykjavik, is a popular spot for those seeking fresh and hearty sandwich meals at affordable prices. The menu offers a wide variety of subs and burgers, from basic options to fully-loaded ones. The portions are generous and the food is always fresh. Customers can choose to dine in or take away, enjoying the large, messy sandwiches with various toppings.
We came over here as they had decent review about their sandwiches. We had 2 different 1 had the # 14 chicken bacon lettuce pickles and request tomatoes. So e kind of special sauce which is very good. This was a big sandwich and I only ate half now. Finished the rest later for another meal. My husband had, I believe, the # 1 New York sliced beef and onions sandwich. It comes with all of the same yummy ingredients as mine. Oh, the rolls are long sub rolls soft yet nicely toasted. The meat was warm. Great sandwich for good prices. We paid $38 US 2 large sandwiches and a large amount of fries. Thanks Guys !!

I feel so conflicted about this place. The sandwiches are really really nice (I had one years ago and literally couldn't stop thinking about it until I had another one just now) but also very pricy - I don't think I've ever paid this much for a sandwich and I hope to never again.

Μυρτώ Κ — Google review
The food here is very reasonable. The size of the sandwich is good too. There's an adequate amount of meat for the price. However it's not enough for a full meal so I'd suggest going for a snack. They have great taste in music! There's not much space to sit since there are garbage bins on each end. The staff is prompt and well mannered. Sadly the lamb teriyaki was a bit sweet and not nearly as spicy as expected. Still, since they keep very good opening hours, I will probably end up here again. Unfortunately there are no washrooms or sinks to wash up after eating. Edit - the number ten with chicken instead of beef is fantastic. Also they're very friendly and are always willing to modify menu items. Will visit often.

I’ve always liked the food hall concept, this one didn’t disappoint! Some good choices for food here, I went with the fish and chips! Hot and fresh fish that was battered just right! I am on vacation in Reykjavik, Iceland and went to crab a bit to eat at Fjarhusid Hlemmur, and please note, THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!! I ordered a burger, fries, and a small order of wings. When I went to the counter to pickup my order I asked the waiter if I could have my order to go because I received a call requiring me to immediately meet my wife. The waiter had an attitude with me requesting that my order be prepared for carry out; he stated I should have told them up front , and the next time to do so! I was polite and apologized. I then asked to have my burger cut in half. The cook again got an attitude as though I was asking for too much!! The lady at the register got a knife to cut the burger in half, however, the cook rudely told her “NO,” then snatched the knife from her hand!!!. I said “so you’re not cutting my sandwich in half” and he looked at me and said “NO”; he then and told the lady at the register to hand me my Order. Mind you I had already paid with my credit card so I just took my order and left. When I began to eat the burger the flavor was horrible, and to my surprise, significantly undercooked to the point of being literally raw in the middle as you can see in my attached photo!!! I did not want to walk back to complain because of how I was treated when I initially placed my order. Reykjavík Iceland is beautiful, however, the horrible service, and food at Fjarhusid Hlemmur has left a very bad impression!!! If anyone has plans to visit Reykjavík avoid Fjarhusia Hlemmur restaurant!!! There are many other restaurants in the area with far superior service and food than Fjarhusid Hlemmur!!

As good as it gets when it comes to fish & chips. Portions are generous but not too large. The kids enjoyed both the fish and chicken. I recommend the curly fries for a change of pace. The staff is friendly and the decor is fittingly nautical. 👍

My friend and I saw this place right after our whale tour finished and we were both so hungry and figured you can’t go wrong with fish and chips? Well, not exactly. I got the fish and chips, the batter was soggy on the inside. She got the chicken fillet in bread crumbs, obviously no bread crumbs were used. It was batter. Fries were completely plain, I had to douse them in salt and pepper. Good location, crappy food. If you want proper fish and chips, go to Aegir 101 Taproom. Those fish and chips were phenomenal!!!
Brooke J — Google review
Unassuming little place with ample seating, fast and friendly service and warm local atmosphere. Got the fish and chips which were excellent without being too greasy. Good portion and value. Two of us shared a plate (perfect if you're jetlagged and not too hungry and feeling peckish) but would be filling for a single person. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Edited: went back and tried the traditional plokkari too. Delicious of course, but a note that the "stew" is actually more like a mash so get a drink along with it. Perfect for one person.

They are way better places just a few minutes drive away or a 15min walk away. So, Unless you are nearby here for something else… just go elsewhere. Standard fare at average prices. We had the fish and chips; really nothing special… chips were missing the extra paprika which most Icelandic shops will sprinkle on… they only had a dash… Soup was ok… a lil pricy for the portion IMO

Fish and chips from Frysthúsid was delicious. Batter was crisp and light, fish was well cooked and moist. Fries were also good, but the fish was the star of the show. Best fish and chips I've had in a while.

Thomas T — Google review
Since these were pan-fried chips, I was expecting them to be crispy, but they were badly burnt and had a tough texture. If this wasn’t a cooking mistake, then it seems like there may be an issue with the recipe itself. Saying ‘this is how it’s supposed to be’ is hard to accept.

There is a heated debate in Reykjavik among fast food enthusiasts regarding whether Hamborgarafabrikkan or Tommis Burger Joint serves the best hamburgers. At Tommis, you can enjoy a classic burger experience with perfectly grilled juicy beef, accompanied by creamy melted cheese, onions, lettuce, and pickles.
This is an excellent neighborhood Burger/ sandwich place. The food is great. The service is prompt, friendly and polite. The atmosphere is calm and it looks like a diner. 2024-March. Party of 7, Thursday @ 7:35 PM. There were parking spaces at the front but only a couple were open. There was no line at the counter and we seated ourselves. The ambiance is ok.. tea lights in the ceiling and the background music is low enough to be able to have a good conversation. The facility is clean. 2 restroom stalls at the back. We ordered at the counter and our order came out in a few minutes. Our chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and coffee shakes were soooo good 😋 The burgers are delicious as well! So far, these are the best burgers we have consumed here in Iceland since we got here.. Give it a try if you're missing some good-tasting burgers, fries, and shakes! Bon Appétit 😋! Please give a thumbs up if this review helps you in anyways 👍

Their hamburgers are so good!! We came around 18:30 and half an hour later it was packed and there was a line to enter and order. But the service is good, the food as well and the restaurant has nice decorations and atmosphere. The music is not too loud. Great experience!

Tommi's is a bit of an institution in Reykjavik, well worth looking at the history. There are plenty of locations to choose from all doing a simple menu that still has a good variety of burgers. We went for the steak burger, fries and sweet potato fries. All the food tasted amazing and there is a large section of toppings and sauces you can help yourself to so it becomes your burger. Highly recommended.

First sit down restaurant we went to in Reykjavik and it ruined the food experience everywhere else for the entire week. The steak burger was the tastiest thing I've ever eaten in 40 of the lower 48 states. At every place we ate the rest of the week, the food was compared against that burger. I regret not being able to go back a second, third, or even fourth time, because I seriously could eat one of the steak burgers for every meal the rest of my life. Go here, have the steak burger. It WILL change your life.

Delicious burgers! No complaints! The front desk staff were very polite and friendly. We both tried the Classic burger (120g, $14 alone) and split the fries/drink (combo was ~$20CAD) we also tried the vanilla milkshake, it was also great--somehow, not too sweet! Quick service, decent prices for how expensive Iceland is.

Að mínu mati, this is the best Tommi's Burger Joint in Iceland. The food always delivers and the staff are always friendly and professional. While I frequent this particular location quite often, my best friend visiting town and I were exceedingly impressed with the customer service on Easter Sunday. A lovely employee really brought a smile to my face and heart with her warm, friendly and wholesome character, even in the midst of lunch rush. I entered the establishment hungry and a bit hungover, yet left not only gastronomically satisfied but with a full heart and soul, prepared to take on the spirit of the holiday. Takk kærlega fyrir! 😃🙏

Drekinn Grill Söluturn is an excellent choice for a fast and convenient meal. The food is of exceptional quality and prepared fresh upon order. The prices are very reasonable, making it a great option for those seeking an affordable dining experience. The vegan burger offered here is absolutely delightful, and the cheeseburgers have also been highly praised by patrons. The staff members are warm and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meals.
Good cheap street food. In a city where everything is expensive, these types of places are very good. We went twice while staying in Reykjavik. The first time we went (before 3 pm) the people there were very nice. We have just come back from eating there again, and there were different people, not very nice and the cheaps were quite cold this time. But I recommend it.

Great experience and great food. Big portions for very reasonable prices. The location is ideal, too. Fish and chips were excellent.

This is a small convenience store that serves grill food, burgers and pita sandwiches. Staff are maybe not the happiest folks, but get the job done. Good value, cozy place to enjoy a sandwich, even a veggie patty on the menu. Great alternative to the more obvious choices.
Équipe T — Google review
Great prices and a healthy fast food option compared to any other place in reykjavik. The sizes are ridiculous!! As big as my head!! Great value and good food.
Marissa C — Google review
Love the burgers there! Everything tip top
Ragnar O — Google review
Amazing prices compared to the rest of Reykjavik and it actually tasted really nice too! Its like a little corner shop with a takeaway just crammed in, there's even a tiny table for you to eat at. The chip portions are very generous! It was perfect to fill us up after a long day of sightseeing.
Emma B — Google review
Best burgers in Iceland, and also a convenience store.

Small place packed with different unique drinks and snacks that I hadn't seen before as a US tourist. Price for the food is good for the area. We ordered the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. There is only one bench to eat at so don't expect to be able to dine in

Lemmy is a vibrant punk bar located in downtown Reykjavik, offering a vegan alternative with its delicious hotdog made from vegan sausage, topped with slaw and a creamy plant-based sauce. Housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city, Lemmy also serves hearty breakfasts and features a charming courtyard for outdoor seating. The bar's lovely decor includes mock stained glass windows and a balcony providing scenic views.
A great bar which is a great tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead. Great staff members, friendly and welcoming. Beer tasted awesome! Highly recommended if you are in the area. Will be back!

Awesome spot. First stopped here on a beer and booze tour. The atmosphere is spot on! The drink selection is even better. And the music is top notch. The bathroom here is an experience!! This is a must visit place for your next Icelandic trip, and it’s a short walk to the famous hot dog station as well. Cheers!

Best place I found in Reykjavik to get a solid microbrew. Price to pour a beer from the back room is cheaper than most hotel bars for their basic junk beers. Food was pretty solid and the atmosphere is great. Having a beer during the day in the garden area is a nice relaxing experience.
Scott C — Google review
Super friendly staff. Great crowd. They have local rock bands playing over the weekends. They get pretty busy so be prepared to wait for your drink.
Soum G — Google review
Great micro tap selection at the rear of the bar, no gimmicks, frills free and self tap service. Indoor bar is a little gloomy but Lovely to sit outdoors at the road and crowd watch while enjoying the brews.

Really delicious food! I got the pork schnitzel and a cider. Affordable pricing, friendly staff, and a fun, comfortable atmosphere.

Perfect place, perfect music, perfect beers. All of the staff so kind and friendly. You should try many beers from their lovely 40 kind of beers.
Yusuf K — Google review
Haven't had the food, but the beer and the atmosphere were worth it. We spent our time in the beer garden (that's where the stage was for Iceland Airwaves) and loved every moment. The beer selection covers apparently everything brewed in Iceland, the different spots to hang out were comfortable, and I expect the heaters make it an excellent place to hang even in the coldest weather. Next time we're in Reykjavík, we'll definitely visit again.

Fish & chips restaurant
Fish and chips is a classic British dish that has its origins in Europe. The crispy and delicate fish is fried in organic spelt batter without eggs or milk, giving it a unique twist. In Iceland, the abundance of seafood makes it a popular choice for restaurants, with the Old Town enveloped in the aroma of fried fish during dinner time. Icelandic Fish & Chips is a chain known for serving fresh and crispy fish with multiple locations across the country.
Pleasantly Surprised by This Cozy Spot 🤩 My friends and I ordered two dishes to try, and I personally preferred the Baked Fillets of Arctic Char over the Fish and Chips. The flavors were more refined and suited my palate better. As an Asian diner, I found the portion size just right — satisfying without being overwhelming. Even though I hadn’t read any reviews beforehand, I was genuinely impressed by the food. It’s always nice to stumble upon a place that exceeds expectations. 💖✨
TK P — Google review
First I thought the portion was too small, but then I couldn’t finish it because of how strong and oily it was. The taste was so good and the sauce that goes with it was amazing. They use real cod fish meat. 🍽️
Putovanja N — Google review
Fish and Chips were good. Nice establishment, Friendly staff. Free flow tap water. Order at the counter, and staff will send the food over. They use cod fish for their fish and chips!! Fish tastes fresh
Donut L — Google review
I had the fish soup there, and it was very good. You order from the bar, but they bring everything to you. I enjoyed my meal.
Bryan S — Google review
Before visiting the restaurant, I saw that a lot of reviews were about bad service. However, when I ate there myself, all of the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The fish was nice and flaky with a really crispy shell of batter around it. The soup had nice big hunks of fish in it, and the mixed seafood was also great, with some decently big portions on everything and top notch flavours to top it off. I’d definitely come again if I come to Reykjavik later on in the future.
Perry Y — Google review
We tried the recommended Fish and Chips. It was fine, nothing special. The Viking beer is a 5. The service was very good also.
George J — Google review
The food was very tasty and it really warms you up on a rainy Icelandic day. It is a self service restaurant with plenty of places to sit down.
Ivana — Google review
It was my fault to order something else at Fish and Chips restaurant which they are famous for. Mixed fish pan was pretty good with arctic charr. But burger dish was pretty sad. Stay with fish and chips! Friendly staff and fast service.
