Hot dog stand
Fast food restaurant
Hot dog restaurant
Restaurant
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, which means "the best hot dog in town," is a legendary food stand located in central Reykjavik. Established in 1937, this humble stand has achieved cult status and is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The Icelandic version of the American hot dog served here features a unique blend of organic lamb, pork, and beef.
Pleasantly surprised. I was sure i wasn't going to like it. I'm not much of a hot dog person but had to try this famous hot dog with everything. Delicious! The crispy onions is such a good topping. Line was a bit long but it went quick. There are several table tops to get a quick bite and drink.
Vanessa R — Google review
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is probably the most famous hot dog stand in Iceland, and it’s become a bit of a tourist attraction in its own right. The location in central Reykjavík makes it easy to stop by, but be prepared for long lines, especially around lunchtime or in the evenings when tour groups and locals alike crowd in. The hot dogs themselves are tasty and hit the spot if you’re after a quick snack, but they don’t necessarily live up to the massive hype. Many visitors, and even locals, will tell you that you can find hot dogs at gas stations across Iceland that are just as good or even better. What really makes Bæjarins Beztu stand out are the sauces and toppings, especially if you order one “with everything” — crispy onions, raw onions, mustard, ketchup, and remoulade. The service is fast and straightforward, but don’t expect anything fancy; this is a simple hot dog stand with limited seating nearby. Prices are reasonable for Reykjavík, though like everything in Iceland, not exactly cheap compared to elsewhere. If you want to try it for the experience and say you’ve been, it’s worth doing once, especially if you happen to be in the area outside of peak hours. But if the line is long and you’re pressed for time, you’re not really missing out on anything life-changing. The real charm is the history and reputation, not necessarily the food itself. Overall, Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is fun for the novelty and a quick bite, but manage your expectations. It’s a hot dog with good toppings, not a culinary revelation, and you can find equally satisfying versions in many other spots around Iceland.
R — Google review
The best hot dogs I've ever had. Consistently amazing. If you come to Iceland then you have to get at least one hot dog and if you do you should get it from here. I would absolutely recgomend anyone to get a hot dog with everything, but if you just like a standard hot dog then ask for one with ketchup and yellow mustard. I could easily eat five of these in one go. Its not as cheap as it used to be but please go here, you wont regret it!
Bill B — Google review
A must try in Iceland! These hot dogs look like US hotdogs, but taste way better. Make sure you get these bad boys with everything! The crispy onions on the bottom make this hot dog taste so special. I passed this stand quite a few times and there was always a line. Your trip is not complete until you partake in this classic tradition.
Frank R — Google review
This tiny hotdog stand has become extremely popular but the quality is amazing. Had to have two. An Icelandic hot dog is made with a blend of lamb, pork, and beef, and served on a steamed bun with toppings including ketchup, raw white onions, crispy fried onions, sweet brown mustard, and a creamy remoulade sauce. The wait isn't long though as each hot dog is assembled in about 3 seconds. The small footprint is efficient with little movement needed between order/pay, hotdog, and beverage. There are tables that can hold your hotdog but watch out for hungry birds as they will take it if you aren't careful! Highly recommend regardless of weather as long as it is open!
Dylan S — Google review
I got a hot dog with the works…it was really good! The bread was soft and fresh…and I loved that they put the condiments under the dog! This spot is located in a great area as well, around nightlife and other interesting joints!
T C — Google review
I had recently went to Iceland and I just had to try their famous hotdogs and this was DELICIOUS! Those onions hit and that sauce is a mixture of tangy and sweet and it's just so good. The advertisement doesn't lie. You just try it before you leave! Sorry, US but Iceland has better weeners than your ballparks XD
Kam V — Google review
I'm from the US and thought I understood what a hotdog should taste. I was wrong. This spot blew my mind, the crispy onion and fresh minced onion mix on the bun under the hotdog creates an amazing texture while the three sauces ontop create a spectrum of sweet and tangy flavours that go so well with the rich and salty meat of the dog. I strongly recommend this ESPECIALLY since I was also shocked at how quickly the woman at the stall whipped the hot dogs together and still kept them neat and well structured. So even though you might arrive to a line, don't think that it will take long at all. P. S. I am DEFINITELY trying to recreate these in the states.

Noodle shop
Fast food restaurant
Noodle Station in Reykjavik offers a cozy respite from the city's chilly winds with its hearty Thai-style noodle soups. The restaurant provides a straightforward and delicious experience, allowing patrons to choose from beef, chicken, or veggie options. It's a popular spot for both locals and visitors seeking to warm up with piping hot noodle soup on cold days.
This place is freaking awesome!! I’m of Asian decent and was not expecting to find such a unique soup in Iceland. I think it might just be the best soup I never had! Sometimes soups aren’t very filling, but this soup is so I highly recommend it. Absolutely no compromises as service as also very nice and quick.
Kevin K — Google review
I lived in China for 6 years and this is some of the best beef noodles I've ever had. Rich broth with a little sweetness. Beef was fall-apart tender. Noodles perfectly cooked. Chili oil was AWESOME. Actually spicy. Also, very reasonably priced compared to average restaurant in the city...bout $14 a bowl. Very surprised to find this in Iceland of all places!
Will W — Google review
Entered this place without any expectations but so good we had it twice during my stay. I tried vegetable noodle soup. It was a good serving. They put the soaked hot rice noodles first, then the soup, sprouts, crushed peanuts and if you feel daring, you can make it extra spicy. This is the best noodle soup I have ever tried. The soup is so beautifully made, there were loads of flavours, there was something about this soup that was making us feel so good and contempt. May be that's umami. Over all one of the best place to eat in Iceland. I loved it.
Amruth S — Google review
Service was fast and welcoming! If you want "A little bit of spice" ask for no spice-- the noodles have a nice amount of flavor without an additional kick. I had the chicken noodles which had a good amount of meat and veg, with more of a "curry soup" vibe. Absolutely yummy!
Mel H — Google review
No fuss noodle shop. The key to a delicious bowl of noodle is in the broth…and they nailed it. The menu has three options only…very straight forward and perfect for when you’re not in the mood to scan through a long list of options & ingredients. Rich and delicious noodles reasonably priced for Reykjavik.
Blog V — Google review
Delicious, lots of noodles and meat, and a really tasteful soup. The only negative is that they could have more different vegetables. Cheap and tasty. The cheapest place in Reykjavik if you want good and warm food. The restaurant is quite boring and its a cheap look. But if you dont care about that i can highly recommend this place. I saw three different noodlesoup on the menu, meat, chicken and vegetables. So you choose the topping you want. It's location is behind busstop no 10, perfect after a long day in the mountains.
Samuel — Google review
My bf and I came here looking for a hearty broth-y noodle soup to warm us up on a blustery Reykjavík night and Noodle Station did not disappoint. The menu is 3 things (which I usually take as a good sign. In my experience, the fewer the number of items on the menu, the better they’re cooked): they have beef, chicken, and veggie noodles. We wanted to share a beef and a chicken so we could sample everything they had to offer. Unfortunately, they were out of chicken when we ordered. No matter. We both got the beef noodles (spicy, of course!) and it was so delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, the broth was super tasty, the portions were huge, and the price was very affordable, esp by Reykjavík standards. Highly recommend ❤️🍜 And don’t forget to check your bowl when you finish!
Kristina — Google review
A place you need to visit if you are in Reykjavik. The noodles are super delicious and the portion is quite generous, and the price is the lowest i could find in the downtown. I'd say that if you are low on money and really hungry, a noodle soup on this place will make your day!

Brewpub
Restaurant
Bastard Brew & Food is a lively and modern gathering place in Iceland, offering craft beer, cocktails, and delicious food made with local ingredients. The rustic interior and classic music create a warm atmosphere, making it an inviting spot year-round. Their Hazy Bastard and Amber Bastard craft beers are highly recommended. The menu includes comfort food options like nachos with hummus and pesto, as well as pretzels with homemade jalapeno cheese sauce.
My wife and I loved this pub! While here on vacation we stopped in for lunch and it was a perfect option. We both ordered soft shell tacos and a pretzel. Everything was delicious and the cocktails were expertly made.
Evan R — Google review
I got the cocktail of the week, I don't remember what it was but it may have been one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The food was also outstanding. We came back another night just for drinks and that cocktail of the week was also amazing.

Best brunch in Reykjavik by far. Unlimited and incredibly tasty dishes. The selection is large and customization is possible. Everything is made to order so it's always fresh and piping hot. Excellent stuff. Will visit again often.
Rohit G — Google review
Very tasty well seasoned food. Both brunch and dinner menu are well designed with unique dishes. We visit once in a while and we are never disappointed. Cocktails are well presented. Professional service from staff. Place to visit when in Iceland defo. Very recommended 👌
Mariola A — Google review
A nice, quirky restaurant with friendly and brilliant service. I ordered the Double Bastard burger — it was tasty but a little lacking in flavour for me. My husband tried the pepperoni flatbread, which was a bit too quirky in taste for our liking. The only downside was that the tables were quite close together, leaving little room to manoeuvre. Overall, a fun spot with great service, though the flavours might not suit everyone.
Kuli D — Google review
Visited this location in October 2025. Great service from the staff! Felt welcomed and answered any questions we had about the menu. Food options were good. The cauliflower tacos were tasty, and the pretzel with jalapeño cheese was good. Was excited to try Iceland beer and it didn’t disappoint. Worth a stop in if you’re interested in the different varieties available. This location has cocktails as well that seemed interesting, but maybe a next time try.
Ronnie M — Google review
This place is great. Nice drink selection, burgers and salad were both very good. Server was attentive and gave us some good recommendations. Would definitely go here again. Cool vibe with artwork that has been “bastardized”.

An absolutely fab-u-lous venue with great staff! If you like English bitter ale you'll love the Amber Ale there Food is fab-u-lous and for Reykjavík we thought reasonable! 2 beers, a cocktail, 3 tacos delicious 1 flatbread and a dish of nachos £107

The Laundromat Cafe in Reykjavik is a must-visit spot, especially for breakfast and brunch enthusiasts. The cafe offers a diverse menu featuring eggs prepared in various ways, pancakes, and beverages like coffee or Bloody Mary. With its unique laundromat theme, the restaurant provides a comfortable and sociable environment. It's well-known for its cozy ambiance, vibrant decor, and an array of meal options including burgers, salads, sandwiches, nachos, and vegetarian dishes.
After a long morning or exploring Reykjavik, the Laundromat was a chill spot to sit, rest, and enjoy a beer and some great food. We stumbled past the storefront while walking on a food tour or Reykjavik (something you MUST try), and the exterior was so inviting that we made a note that we needed to return. The inside is fun and vibrant. The ROYGBIV bookshelf bar counter is pleasing to the eyes, and the jet red chairs and chairs and lamp shades give a vibe of a cozy yet trendy coffee shop. The food was incredible and was affordable. You should definitely try one of the local beers. I'm not lying when I say, Iceland Beer is some of the best beer I have ever had, and I'm bummed you can't find it in the states. Viking beer was my absolute favorite. This location was very welcoming and the staff extremely hospitable. It's also located in the heart of Reykjavik. It's a must try place if you find yourself in the land of Fire & Ice! Cheers!!
Nicholas S — Google review
Seems like a popular place for Sat breakfast. Interesting vibrant eclectic decor. Self order via QR code at table. Nice venue & location. Not very good croissants/ham/cheese, ok pancakes, decent coffee but cup handle too small. They pre-poured too much syrup on pancake.
D D — Google review
A beautiful place that has quickly become our new favorite spot for breakfast and brunch. ❤️‍🔥🥯The avo toast could have been seasoned a bit better, but everything else was excellent. We had a really great meal. The place is clean and has an interesting atmosphere, and the coffee especially with Baileys 😛 was absolutely delicious. it’s also a nice spot for kids 👧🏼
Gabrielka J — Google review
Cute place with warm and inviting decor. We came for an early supper the day we arrived. It must have been the end of their day as service was inattentive. You order online at your table (which I dislike anyway). All the waiter does is bring you the food. We ordered a ham and cheese sandwich (ho hum) and fish and chips with coleslaw (which was awful) and chips. The fish was soft not crispy and greasy. A big disappointment since I thought it would be fabulous given the locale. The chips were great—the best thing they served. Very average meal especially for the price. We should have come for brunch as the pastries looked fresh and brunch menu more enticing. They also have a coffee machine offering espresso drinks.
Laura R — Google review
Gluten Free bread available by request! Great decor, fast service (September visit), hearty portions of delicious fresh food. There is even a little laundromat in the basement. We would definitively dine here again.
Janice E — Google review
Food was mediocre, you order from a qr code and everything came at once. The had to put our dinner under the heat lamp while we finished our app on the tiny table. Cute atmosphere though!
Sabrina B — Google review
Came here right after we arrived to Reykjavik. Very popular spot! We waited about 10-15 minutes for a table. Cute atmosphere inside and downstairs there’s bathrooms and an actual laundromat that’s in use. Once we were seated there’s a QR code on the table where you order and pay all at once. Food came out decently quick considering how busy. My pancakes were excellent and my friend enjoyed her eggs. Very pricy but to be expected in Iceland. Right in the center of town and close to lots of things!

For me, the best breakfast place in Reykjavik. Love the ambience and decór. I had the laundry toast and a dirty chai latte, both great. I love that the place has lots of light and nice picture spots.

Gastropub
Sæta Svínið Gastropub, located in the heart of Reykjavik, is a lively and popular spot known for its diverse range of live events, from karaoke nights to bingo parties. The outdoor area is bustling on sunny days, reflecting the high quality of the food. With a classic British pub ambiance and modern twist indoors, this gastropub offers a casual and welcoming setting to enjoy curated Icelandic cuisine made with fresh local ingredients.
Great location, right next to a bustling square. If the sun is out, it’s nice to sit outside and soak it up. They also have blankets if it gets chilly. We ordered the main burger on the menu, the ribeye, and broccoli and avacado appetizers. The burger was amazing. Fries came with a to die for truffle sauce. 10/10 Steak was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. The price was a bit intense for my American standards, but not off from Iceland pricing. SO WORTH IT. Came with veggies, two sauces, and fries. Really really really amazing. Broccoli and avocado appetizers were great. The portions were very good sizes. I liked the broccoli more because it was crunchier, but that’s the difference between avocado and broccoli. Great dinner!
Leah S — Google review
Visited Sæta Svínið Gastropub for dinner on July 14th, 2025, around 6pm, and had a fantastic experience. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. We started with the olives as a snack, then ordered the grilled salmon and the Sæta Svínið burger (no bun). Everything was seasoned perfectly. The salmon was especially flavorful, with a great blend of sauce and veggies, and the burger—with its crispy fries—was just as satisfying. The vibe of the place was local and authentic, not overly upscale but welcoming and full of character. There was a beam in the center of the room covered in stapled dollar bills, and we enjoyed a view of townspeople relaxing outside while kids skateboarded nearby. It really felt like a slice of Icelandic everyday life. Service was warm and friendly throughout, and I honestly didn’t see any downsides. It’s more of a laid-back bar atmosphere than a fine dining spot—but that’s part of its charm. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to experience great Icelandic food and culture in a relaxed setting. Solid 4 out of 5 stars.

We came for the lamb shank, it was delicious. Great choice of local draft beer, cosy atmosphere with many locals, also families. Great music. Had great time, our waiter Ella was very friendly and professional. Would return anytime!

We had a great dinner here. We came on Saturday, around 5pm and place was not very crowded. My friend ordered a rib eye steak and I had a burger. Burger was amazing, brioche was soft and buttery. Meat was exceptional, medium rare just like I like it. It came with a side of kind of sweet pickles and lots of waffle fries. My friend’s steak was very delicious, also medium rare, meat inside was tender, soft and pink. On the outside if was perfectly grilled. I would definitely come back and highly recommend!
Zofia L — Google review
This place was really great - I did the whole “Icelandic Journey” tasting menu for lunch and had a blast. While expensive ($143 USD with two additional drinks), it was well worth it to try all the different stuff that you won’t find anywhere else. All the dishes were well presented, tasty, and the service was really excellent explaining what each thing was. I really enjoyed the brennivin, ling, cheesecake, and puffin. I would not do this tasting menu if you are just looking for a normal meal, but if you’re wanting to try something new this place does not disappoint, and I would go back for some of the individual dishes that I liked the most. Ambiance is pretty cool too, with comfortable bar and table seating inside, and a great outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. They also have a great beer selection and I would recommend the place for a quick drink as well!
David — Google review
The decor is interesting. Some in our party were not too impressed by the foods. The cod seemed too salty. The service staff was very courteous.
Albert W — Google review
I went to have lunch on probably one of the busiest days, namely the day of the Reykjavík marathon and culture night. The service personel was very much alert. They brought the food in a suitable interval. I did not feel rushed. They checked on me at numerous occassions to make sure that everything was ok. All my dishes were very generous. Enough for two to share really.
Lykke L — Google review
The food was pretty good. The Smoke Pollock app was fabulous. The burgers were good, but the bill was 295.00 for 4 burgers, 3 beers, an app and dessert.

Great burger. The location wasn’t far from a couple of the hotels in the area. The food was good, the burger was good more on the rare side. Tasted great. The fries were very similar to McDonald style fries. They took visa and Mastercard.

The atmosphere was decent, and the staff was kind. Quite a bit of wait time (to order and to receive food). The food did not reflect the prices at all. One appetizer (nachos), and a burger meal with a soda $70 USD.

Me and my husband stayed in Iceland for a few days and this was one of the first restaurants we found.. and absolutely loved it! The presentation of the food was great, and it tasted even better. The gentleman who served us was lovely, and we were in & out within about 45 minutes. I’d definitely recommend 😊

I first visited this place during my first visit in Iceland in 2016 and was sure to set my foot there again. The impression of the best vegetarian burger ever eaten was confirmed - during the last decade I have tasted many, many no-cruelty burgers, but the Icelandic burger factory ;) keeps its well deserved place on the podium. I'm also positively surprised by the prices that have not risen drastically over the last decade. And don't skip the honey mustard sauce, it's finger licking good, the best I have ever ever ever tasted!

We had lunch at Islenska Hamborgarafabrikkan in Reykjavík and the food did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious — juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. I went for a double patty just in case, and while it hit the spot, even a single would’ve likely been enough for most people. Portion sizes were decent and the overall presentation was great. The total for two meals came to around 67€, which isn’t cheap, but it felt fair for Reykjavík standards given the quality. The only real downside was the service. There were no waiters attending tables, so despite being the only customers at the time, we had to wait quite a while to be seated, to order, and then to actually get the food. It felt a bit disorganized, which was frustrating considering how empty the place was. Great food, but the service could definitely use some improvement.
Nacho F — Google review
Many of our orders got mixed up. The food was rather simple and bland. The interior is nice and there's a nice view of the surroundings and Höfði. For this price I will go somewhere else next time.
Heimir K — Google review
After being sat down, I think they forgot about me and I had to flag a server down. I ordered the animal Park Burger, which had great flavour and was definitely tasty. It’s a shame that the egg, while runny, was Ice cold, and the burger was Luke warm at best, the only hot part of the food, was the fries. The service wasn’t great, but adequate, although the staff did seem obsessed gathered around a screen at the bar and looking at that, not sure what was going on there. If the food has been hot, the rating would have been higher, real shame.

The Icelandic version of Hard Rock Café. Salads and burgers named after local celebrities and a decent selection of desserts. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Let them know it’s your (or somebody else’s) birthday and they’ll bring you a treat and play your song request.

Fish and Chips Vagninn is a popular red food truck located at Vesturbugt, the westernmost part of Reykjavik's harbor. Run by a family that also owns fishing vessels and a processing plant, this food truck offers top-quality fish caught by the owners themselves. While not the most traditional fast food in Iceland, it has gained popularity for its delectable offerings such as fish and chips with various toppings and an amazing tartar sauce.
It’s safe to say this is the best fish and chips in Reykjavík! The portion is generous enough to satisfy a big appetite, the fish is fresh with perfectly crispy batter, and the chips are thick and delicious. The place is small, seating around ten people, but it’s spotless and pleasantly free of any old oil smell. Highly recommended!
Gudmundur J — Google review
The fish and chips were freshly put on when we ordered but I was so disappointed they were just frozen chips not fresh traditional chip shop style. The fish had a good crispy batter but it was otherwise tasteless and portion I thought was small. Price I guess is typical Iceland but £35 for two fish and chips and a small can of juice still makes me gag.
Will M — Google review
I'm not sure if they were having an off day, maybe they were running out of fish or something but the portion size of the fish was ridiculously small for the cost. It was gone in 3 mouthfuls. The batter was pale and a little tasteless and it seemed to be undercooked. It felt they were trying to compensate for the lack of fish by overloading the box with chips. The staff are polite enough but that doesn't make up for how much they charge in relation to the abysmal amount of fish.

We recently ordered from the Fish & Chips Wagon in the Zone B section of the Rejk Eco Campsite. Opening hours from 5pm to late. They keep things simple with the menu selling Fish and chips, mushy peas, sauce and drinks. Prices are reasonable, service friendly and as timely as can be expected depending on how busy they are. Chips were fried nicely as was the cod fillet which was fresh and tasted just fine. There is malt vinegar and salt available. Happy with our order, would be glad to repeat. There are a handful of picnic tables outside the wagon. Orders are nicely packed if you need to walk them back to your campers or RVs in other areas of the campsite.

Fish and chips were nice and freshly made. Service could've been more friendly as staff weren't that interested. Would have to say it's not the best I've had but the chips were amazing.

We went past this fish and chips shop whilst on the Hop on Hop off bus, we stayed the whole route getting off in the old port and decided to visit this shop as it looked quaint. Once inside it sold only fish and chips, no sausage or fishcakes or the like, we had fish, chips and mushy peas which along with the service and frying was excellent. We found out the cod was line caught in their boat then processed just down the road, so it was very fresh. Coming from Grimsby, England which was a large fishing port we grew up appreciating quality fish and chips and this was just that "Proper fish and chips"

Hlöllabátar, located in downtown Reykjavik, is a popular spot for those seeking fresh and hearty sandwich meals at affordable prices. The menu offers a wide variety of subs and burgers, from basic options to fully-loaded ones. The portions are generous and the food is always fresh. Customers can choose to dine in or take away, enjoying the large, messy sandwiches with various toppings.
We came over here as they had decent review about their sandwiches. We had 2 different 1 had the # 14 chicken bacon lettuce pickles and request tomatoes. So e kind of special sauce which is very good. This was a big sandwich and I only ate half now. Finished the rest later for another meal. My husband had, I believe, the # 1 New York sliced beef and onions sandwich. It comes with all of the same yummy ingredients as mine. Oh, the rolls are long sub rolls soft yet nicely toasted. The meat was warm. Great sandwich for good prices. We paid $38 US 2 large sandwiches and a large amount of fries. Thanks Guys !!

In from Chicago and I had the #1, New Yorker, which is basically a Philly Cheese Steak with a twist. Great food. Also had the mozzarella sticks, fries and onion rings. Kids were delighted.

I feel so conflicted about this place. The sandwiches are really really nice (I had one years ago and literally couldn't stop thinking about it until I had another one just now) but also very pricy - I don't think I've ever paid this much for a sandwich and I hope to never again.

Very tasty sandwiches and quick service!
Μυρτώ Κ — Google review
The food here is very reasonable. The size of the sandwich is good too. There's an adequate amount of meat for the price. However it's not enough for a full meal so I'd suggest going for a snack. They have great taste in music! There's not much space to sit since there are garbage bins on each end. The staff is prompt and well mannered. Sadly the lamb teriyaki was a bit sweet and not nearly as spicy as expected. Still, since they keep very good opening hours, I will probably end up here again. Unfortunately there are no washrooms or sinks to wash up after eating. Edit - the number ten with chicken instead of beef is fantastic. Also they're very friendly and are always willing to modify menu items. Will visit often.

Sümac Grill + Drinks is a downtown restaurant known for its great ambiance, celebrity sightings, and delicious Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-infused Icelandic cuisine. Chefs Thrainn Freyr Vigfusson and Tomas Johannssont create mouthwatering dishes like grilled lamb and pistachio baklava that have earned praise from Gordon Ramsay and the Michelin guide.
We had an amazing dining experience at Sumac! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, with a vibe that feels both relaxed and sophisticated. The food was absolutely delicious — we tried the mushrooms, cod, cauliflower, and lamb ribs, and every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Each bite felt thoughtfully prepared, and you could really taste the quality of the ingredients. The lamb ribs, in particular, were incredibly tender and flavorful. To top it all off, the desserts were fantastic — rich, well-balanced, and the perfect end to an already memorable meal. Highly recommend Sumac for anyone visiting Reykjavík. It’s a must-try spot for food lovers looking for something special. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

The flavors were what we really liked. The flavors were nicely subtle. The cod was excellent . Maybe as good as I have had in Iceland. The lamb shanks and shrimp were also excellent. Service was v good. There are some errors in the billing, but nothing major. Atmosphere was ' happening ' so we really enjoyed the evening. The flat bread was also excellent. So overall, an evening of note. Would recommend.
Ravi C — Google review
Hands down, some of the best food we’ve ever had. We did the taste menu, seven courses: three starters, three entrees, and dessert. The bread and hummus were amazing right off the bat! Tender shrimp perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth ribeye, zucchini to die for. The dessert was a date syrup chocolate cake with sesame seeds and a rich coffee ice cream. I couldn’t recommend this place enough if you’re looking for a nice place to spend an evening. My only regret is that we live 5,000km away and I’ll be comparing every restaurant to this one for years to come. Well, at least until next time we’re here.

Four of us ate here the other night at the end of our Iceland trip, and it was fantastic! Also pricey, but incredible. We were all craving some different fare after eating fish and chips the whole week. Four of us, we got the 7 course chiefs meal, we ended up dropping about 500 for all of us (that’s 500 (US dollars) (NO drinks/alcohol). Their hummus was probably my favorite although the lamb was also top notch, but every course was solid. So if you are up for a splurge, I would definitely recommend Sumac. Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix pointed us here, glad it did. Reservations probably best, but we just lined up as soon as they opened and got in, thankfully.

Ordered the 7-course meal for my friend's birthday. We had flatbread with baba ganoush and hummus for starters. Also the halloumi and oyster mushrooms- which was incredibly tasty especially the sauce. Main dishes were the shrimps, chicken thighs, cauliflower and lastly an ice cream for dessert. Wasnt really a fan of cauliflower but the tahina sauce and almonds complemented it perfectly.
Melanie ( — Google review
The food was crazy good, honestly the best chicken kebab I have ever eaten. The bread with the hummus on the side as a starter was like a chefs kiss! Sitting at the bar having a view over the kitchen and be able to do some talking with the chefs, fantastic atmosphere. A new favourite restaurant in Reykjavík! A must if you are in Reykjavík!
Melker T — Google review
Sumac just became one our favourite restaurants! Everything was packed with exciting flavours and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and not at all pretentious. There was a real attention to detail in both the food and the interior design. Only minus is that the meals arrived even too quickly - we would have enjoyed to have a bit more time to sit, talk and enjoy.
Linnea F — Google review
Lovely meal. Most dishes were good, some were EXTRAORDINARY. Notably, the almond-pepper spread, the warm pita with za'atar, and the chicken wings (unexpected!) were phenomenal, 5-star bites! We also had octopus, cod, the halloumi, and the mushrooms, and all were good. I wish we'd had more of the main plates cause they looked fantastic going by. The servers and chefs at the bar were a delight and joy, and I highly recommend eating at the bar for the full immersive experience. They were also kind enough to give us 3 pieces of pita even though the order usually only comes with 2 since there were 3 of us. Very kind!

Sushi Social is a trendy restaurant in Reykjavik that offers a unique fusion of Japanese sushi, South American grills, and Icelandic ingredients. Originally known as Sushi Samba, the restaurant rebranded after a high-profile scandal but has since become even better. The menu features melt-in-your-mouth fresh Icelandic fish and a wide array of selections including new style sushi and an amazing steak platter for two.
We tried the 5 course menu with smoked puffin and horse meat, and arctic char, along with salmon and lamb. It was immaculate service and every staff was beautiful to look at and the food was great. I ordered the veggie tempura and baby back ribs, and grilled chicken with a bed of yummy corn. The bathroom was spacious and there's a coat rack for jackets. Drinks was fun and interesting and dessert was strawberry sorbet. We were celebrating a bday and the candle was so fun!!!

Exceptional experience from this restaurant. All the waiters and the sushi bar staff were super kind, the sushi was out of this world, the main courses are delicious, and the atmosphere was amazing. Get their Lax, Firefly, and Surf n’ Turf sushi’s, since all of those were amazing. The grilled lamb was so, so good as a main entree dish. We loved the music playing around and seeing everyone having a great time. The cake with the fiery candle on it was a perfect dessert to end the night in Reykjavik. All in all, this was an INCREDIBLE sushi restaurant experience and I HIGHLY recommend this spot to anyone! We LOVED it!!!

This place is a gem. It’s in downtown Reykjavik area close to many other attractions/shops/restaurants/cafes. We made no reservation but the hostess allowed us an hour time slot to dine in. Once inside, the place offers a cozy, intimate, and upscale vibe. We ordered the spider sushi roll and the Icelandic roll which they serve on a platter in the geographical shape of Iceland! Both rolls were delicious and a hefty portion. We were satisfied with the service, taste, and overall experience. The items are on the pricier end but from the looks of it, this place delivers that high end quality/service.

We love going to Sushi Social and come atleast once a month. I would recommend the Surf and Turf Maki, Beef Tenderloin with truffle garden potatoes, and Caramel fudge. I find that the tables are too close with each other which could sometimes be a struggle to get in and out of your seat but overall would still recommend the place.

My husband and I had our first dinner in Iceland at Sushi Social, at the beginning of the second leg of our honeymoon. It was the best meal we had in Iceland, and in our top 3 meals for the whole trip. The staff were welcoming, responsive, kind, and truly went above and beyond. We loved the decor and vibe, and most importantly, we loved the food. The veggie tempura was the best I've ever had. We truly enjoyed the short ribs as well. We got 3 rolls: the Veggie Delight, the Firefly, and the Crunchy Avocado roll. We enjoyed them all very much. The yuzuade drinks were light and sweet. We were brought an incredible alcohol free prosecco, and finished the meal with an incredibly decadent chocolate caramel ice cream dessert. Sushi Social is a perfect place for a special occasion, or a nice dinner out! Thank you, Sushi Social for helping to make our honeymoon so special!

So glad we went to Brass. The food was delicious - cooked to perfection and the service was amazing. Our son has allergies and they told us they could accommodate mostly everything as needed. He ordered chicken off the kids menu and they went as far as to call where they got the chicken from because they didn’t have the full ingredient list. I ordered the arctic char which was perfect - quite a lot of food! My husband had the fish and chips and said it was delicious. Highly recommend going here. They had colouring pencils and a paper to colour on for our son. All the allergens were listed in the main menu - the only tiny suggestion would be to have them on the children’s menu too but all in all - it was great.

LOVED this pub style restaurant and bar serving up delicious desserts as well as a full menu that's so good, it's hard to choose from! Restaurant is located at the end of the old town near to a Starbucks. It's an easy 10 minute walk, but if you aren't looking for it, you may not find it. The restaurant is casual to semi formal. The wait staff is gentle and doesn't get in your face, but this approach may be too relaxed for some. Ordered the baked camembert and the burger. Also got a beer from their extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu. They do have a happy hour menu, but it changes, so check the website. It's in a pedestrian area so parking may be difficult.

We visited this restaurant for my boyfriend’s birthday while staying in Reykjavík. We ordered a chicken burger and the baked Arctic char. The food looked and tasted excellent, but we did notice something unusual in one of the dishes. Once we informed the staff, both the Czech waitress and the Latvian waiter handled the situation very professionally — they apologised sincerely and even offered us complimentary desserts. Overall, the experience left a very positive impression. The food was delicious, the staff exceptionally friendly, and I would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Reykjavík.

Iceland, you had me there, loved the stay!! I had researched the Reykjavík area and found this place the best glutenfree restaurant in town. I returned twice while staying in the capital . Had fish and chips which is rarely served coated, surprise (I double checked and they use separate frypot/oil for gf). I was hungry and forgot to make pics, so I ordered the same food again, so that you can see the pics 😂. The other day I ordered the Lampurger and it was a bit surprise as of bun type but it was very delicious. So all in all, two common dishes you'd enjoy. What took me by huge surprise is that glutenfree beer is served almost everywhere!! (gull lite). Food is pricey in general, so prepare for it.

Food is decent, but beware of the guy taking the orders on Saturday nights. Consistently overcharging by 300-600 on every order and taking advantage of unsuspecting people (and drunk kids) by withholding the receipt. A wonderful and satisfying dinner to end my last day in Iceland. The Chinese food is really delicious and authentic. I would recommend mapo tofu is a must order. Shop is pretty small so tight on table and only entertain walk in. Highly recommended if u carved Chinese Sichuan Cuisine.

Ordered Black Pepper Beef (黑椒牛柳) and Boiled Fish with Sichuan Pickles (酸菜鱼), along with two white rice. Have to say, these are the best Chinese food we had in Iceland, both are close to the tastes from where we are. Hearsay their Fried Rice and Chilli Chicken (辣子鸡) are also great, but we didn’t have the stomach for those then.
Edward C — Google review
For its small restaurant size it feels cozy. 牛肉面 ( beef noodle ) tasted very good. The 辣子鸡 ( spicy fried chicken) was very tasty and fresh. It costs a lot but Iceland is an expensive place anyways so that wont affect my rating. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pretty quiet and positive.
Brandon Z — Google review
I am not sure how this restaurant has such high ratings, perhaps it is due to the fact that Iceland doesnt have much Asian food options. Restaurant was quite small with simple furniture. Menu looks extensive but food flavour was disappointing. We ordered 红烧肉 but it tasted like boiled pork belly with oyster sauce and soy sauce. The lamb tasted salty, fish was okay. Ordered two soy bean drinks (package drinks) and found out that it has expired in June (we went on 11th July), but the staff gladly removed that from the order. Service was quick and good.
Siok A — Google review
Like many of the other Chinese customers we saw that day, came here after days of sandwiches/potatoes/fish & chips for our Asian food fix. The restaurant is pretty typical Chinese with basic decor and lukewarm but fast service. We ordered the Peking duck 鸭子 and it wasn’t bad, although it was fried instead of roasted for reasons the server gave but I couldn’t hear (and probably explains why they didn’t list it as 北京烤鸭). In any case, it tasted fine although the meat was quite dry. Veggies were good, the standard restaurant taste, although it was sad that it was mostly broccoli/cauliflower, with only a little Napa cabbage and some lettuce. The beef noodles 牛肉面 weren’t bad, but the noodles were extremely overcooked (and this is coming from someone who likes soft noodles). Beef was tender even if not amazingly fresh, but sadly they put lettuce in this - could they not have found any bok choy? Still, this place was good enough to satiate the Chinese food craving, especially given what I imagine must be limited resources in Iceland.

They play old Rock and Roll music from the 1960s. It is a fun place to visit and get a good meal. We are tourists from the US and we liked it so much we came back another day for another dinner.

Stopped here because of other reviews, I’m glad I did! Wahhh I’m a burger nerd and I constantly am trying burgers everywhere I go. This burger jumped right to #2 on my list. It was absolutely delicious! Fries were great too! Staff was friendly, 80’s rock was playing the place is a whole vibe. I honestly might stop back by again before I leave. Great work guys! 5+ stars

2024-March. Party of 7, Thursday @ 7:35 PM. There were parking spaces at the front but only a couple were open. There was no line at the counter and we seated ourselves. The ambiance is ok.. tea lights in the ceiling and the background music is low enough to be able to have a good conversation. The facility is clean. 2 restroom stalls at the back. We ordered at the counter and our order came out in a few minutes. Our chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and coffee shakes were soooo good 😋 The burgers are delicious as well! So far, these are the best burgers we have consumed here in Iceland since we got here.. Give it a try if you're missing some good-tasting burgers, fries, and shakes! Bon Appétit 😋! Please give a thumbs up if this review helps you in anyways 👍

Their hamburgers are so good!! We came around 18:30 and half an hour later it was packed and there was a line to enter and order. But the service is good, the food as well and the restaurant has nice decorations and atmosphere. The music is not too loud. Great experience!

Tommi's is a bit of an institution in Reykjavik, well worth looking at the history. There are plenty of locations to choose from all doing a simple menu that still has a good variety of burgers. We went for the steak burger, fries and sweet potato fries. All the food tasted amazing and there is a large section of toppings and sauces you can help yourself to so it becomes your burger. Highly recommended.
Ranjit C — Google review
Tommi’s Burger Joint delivers solid burgers every time – they never disappoint. But the place could use a bit more passion and energy from the staff to match the food.
Vilbert G — Google review
First sit down restaurant we went to in Reykjavik and it ruined the food experience everywhere else for the entire week. The steak burger was the tastiest thing I've ever eaten in 40 of the lower 48 states. At every place we ate the rest of the week, the food was compared against that burger. I regret not being able to go back a second, third, or even fourth time, because I seriously could eat one of the steak burgers for every meal the rest of my life. Go here, have the steak burger. It WILL change your life.
Jeff H — Google review
Delicious burgers! No complaints! The front desk staff were very polite and friendly. We both tried the Classic burger (120g, $14 alone) and split the fries/drink (combo was ~$20CAD) we also tried the vanilla milkshake, it was also great--somehow, not too sweet! Quick service, decent prices for how expensive Iceland is.

Drekinn Grill Söluturn is an excellent choice for a fast and convenient meal. The food is of exceptional quality and prepared fresh upon order. The prices are very reasonable, making it a great option for those seeking an affordable dining experience. The vegan burger offered here is absolutely delightful, and the cheeseburgers have also been highly praised by patrons. The staff members are warm and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers to enjoy their meals.
Good cheap street food. In a city where everything is expensive, these types of places are very good. We went twice while staying in Reykjavik. The first time we went (before 3 pm) the people there were very nice. We have just come back from eating there again, and there were different people, not very nice and the cheaps were quite cold this time. But I recommend it.

Great experience and great food. Big portions for very reasonable prices. The location is ideal, too. Fish and chips were excellent.

This is a small convenience store that serves grill food, burgers and pita sandwiches. Staff are maybe not the happiest folks, but get the job done. Good value, cozy place to enjoy a sandwich, even a veggie patty on the menu. Great alternative to the more obvious choices.

Great prices and a healthy fast food option compared to any other place in reykjavik. The sizes are ridiculous!! As big as my head!! Great value and good food.

Love the burgers there! Everything tip top

Amazing prices compared to the rest of Reykjavik and it actually tasted really nice too! Its like a little corner shop with a takeaway just crammed in, there's even a tiny table for you to eat at. The chip portions are very generous! It was perfect to fill us up after a long day of sightseeing.

Best burgers in Iceland, and also a convenience store.

Small place packed with different unique drinks and snacks that I hadn't seen before as a US tourist. Price for the food is good for the area. We ordered the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. There is only one bench to eat at so don't expect to be able to dine in

KFC is a popular restaurant chain known for its delicious buckets of fried chicken, combo meals, and various sides. In Iceland, KFC was one of the dominant fast-food chains alongside Domino's Pizza and Subway in the late 90s and early 2000s. However, McDonald's presence was short-lived due to economic reasons. Despite some omissions on the Icelandic menu like mashed potatoes and biscuits, KFC offers permanent vegan and vegetarian options along with limited-time offerings at select locations.
The best kfc in Iceland Lately cashier Armando and his supervisor were really helpfull and they even bring us our order to the table despite we didn't order that service it was really nice

I ordered a bbq burger and received this massive junk. When I returned it they’ve said it should look like this 😂
Bence G — Google review
Very expensive. 3 pieces of chicken, two corns, and two French fries cost $30 USD. Chicken tasted bad. However, it was clean.
Lee S — Google review
Me and my husband cane to eat. The service was ok. But when I have asked to clean the table or the area the women at the counter said that it cannot be done because "they are busy". In my opinion the place where the customers are eating should be a priority. Because if we haven't ordered already we definitely would have left that disgusting place. Also the portion of fries wasn't even, even though we ordered the same portion size one was also double then the other the wings were very oily, we definitely not coming back there
Miglė C — Google review
The restaurant is pretty clean. The food is a typical fast food, greasy and too expressive for the portions and quality.

Im not happy about it i've ordered a bucket of chicken legs but they waren't fresh , they looked and tasted like they have been reheated

I had the famous vegan "not chicken chicken" burger and I quite liked the chicken itself, it is quite realistic in texture and very nicely flavoured. The sad part is that it comes only with mayo sauce and lettuce. It is not so exciting...

Hafnartorg Gallery food hall is a vibrant destination in Reykjavik, offering a diverse selection of over 30 stores and restaurants that blend international brands with local design and cuisine. Situated on the old harbour bank, it provides some of the best dining options Iceland has to offer. The area is conveniently located near the city's main attractions, museums, and public spaces, making it easily accessible by public transport or car from an underground car park.
Nestled within the vibrant ambiance of Hafnartorg Gallery, Brand Restaurant offers a culinary journey that intertwines artistry with gastronomy. My recent visit to Brand Restaurant was a delightful exploration of flavors and textures, leaving me with a lingering sense of satisfaction and intrigue. To start, I indulged in the toasted bread with date pesto, a simple yet sophisticated dish that perfectly exemplifies the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and inventive combinations. The warmth of the toasted bread paired harmoniously with the rich sweetness of the date pesto, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate with each bite. The dish was not only visually appealing but also a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs at Brand Restaurant. Accompanying my appetizer was the espresso martini, a classic cocktail with a twist.

Trattoria- ordered the caesar salad with chicken. The chicken is parts of a cut up chicken with chopped bones included!!! The caesar salad sauce was the most bland & awful I’ve ever tasted - im guessing here that it was a cheap off the shelf sauce. So I thought id get some salt and pepper to liven it up (i gave up after getting the large salt and pepper grinders outside to the table and found that both were completely empty. All in all extremely disappointing & would suggest a different place than the Italian Trattoria to get food.

Super Atmosphere and Jazz live music in downtown. To hang out and some food here. Not so much menu to choose. but it is good burger. Not cheap but it is ok with happy hour and for dinner time. Recommended

It is a nice and modern place but the prices are absolutely insane. We paid almost 70 Euros for this. Two chicken tacos, 3 vegan tacos without any proteins, nachos and 2 beers. The food was good but but honestly the prices are insane.

One of the best food halls I have seen - we enjoyed pizza and Indian food…both were amazing. They don’t cut the pizza but it’s a thing crust baked in a fire oven so it’s easy to do with a fork and knife. We got the butter chicken as well - perfect amount of spice and the Naan bread I could have used a few more pieces so yummy! They have a water station and clean restrooms. There is plenty of seating and it was busy when we were there but we kept an eye for someone to leave and found a table before our food finished.

Great place to eat. Since there are different restaurants on site and you are able to pick up which one you wanna eat. Self order and del Pay. That I actually loved. The place is full of afterwork islanders looking for a drink and a relax time

This place is cute! It gets super busy and lively and we had live music playing when we were there. The food was also nice! I wouldn't say it was the best value for money as it was on the expensive side but we enjoyed our evening here.

Fast food restaurant
Restaurant
Metro is a popular fast food chain in Iceland that has become a local alternative after McDonald's departure. It offers quality fast food at more affordable prices, filling the void left by the global giant. The restaurant is known for its amazing service and cleanliness, with helpful and professional staff. Despite not being exactly like McDonald's, customers have enjoyed their menu items such as the delicious big mac and good fries. The overall experience has exceeded expectations for many visitors.
Great stuff! Better than McDonald's, super fast and service workers are very nice!
Daniil R — Google review
You're gonna spend 30-45 usd for 2 people here, you're much better off going to a sit down restaurant for that price. Don't recommend. Metro replaced the former McDonald’s in Iceland after it shut down in 2009. Avoid getting a large meal because the fries are enormous, easily shareable between two people. However, I must admit, these fries were really good, much like the ones I remember from the old McDonald’s. As for the burgers, they were okay,. you can make better at home.
Anthony M — Google review
Another fast food outlet along the lines of Mc Donald's, which has been absent from Iceland for nearly 20 years. Food of poor quality, although prices are not exorbitant for Iceland. If someone wants to eat fast food then should not be disappointed. Staff not at all interested in customers, and tables dirty from previous customers. On the plus side, there is free parking and a free refill (although this is not unusual in this country).
Ss S — Google review
It is one of the cheaper places to dine in in Iceland from our experience. The atmosphere is terrible as it is extremely dirty inside, but the food is fine. Basically McDonald's food but repackaged and rebranded. Service was okay, nothing to rave or complain about. It is a fast food restaurant, you cannot set your expectations too high here.
Richard — Google review
Out of curiosity, we wanted to try Metro due to its history and similarity to McDonald's, but wish we hadn't bothered. For two burger meals it was more than £30 and tasted very poor quality. The restaurant itself wasn't particularly clean and the toilets were dirty. Service was OK but the staff looked very bored - in fact, some were playing on their phones, which felt unusual. All in all, I'd avoid - I can see why locals don't spend much time here!
Jack — Google review
I visited this place, which replaced the former McDonald’s in Iceland after it shut down in 2009. The building and fries reminded me of the previous McDonald’s setup. I ordered the equivalent of a quarter pounder large meal with fries and a cheeseburger, and it cost around £30/£40 ($35-$45). My advice: avoid getting a large meal because the fries are enormous, easily shareable between two people. However, I must admit, these fries were really good, much like the ones I remember from the old McDonald’s. As for the burgers, they were okay, but they tasted more like something you’d get from a burger van. They didn’t leave a lasting impression and were just average. The buns were also not very remarkable. In summary, the experience reminded me of the old McDonald’s, but it’s clear that it’s a different establishment now. The fries were great, but the burgers and buns left much to be desired.
J N — Google review
This is a typical salad that comes now days with a chicken sandwich or burger from Metro. It’s really dirty inside and service is just awful. Few years back it was fine but now days it’s just disgusting. The following pictures tells you more than 1000 words.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Reykjavik, Chinese Flavour 华味 is a delightful food truck that has quickly made its mark since opening in October 2018. Located near Hlemmur, the city's main bus station and a bustling food court, this shiny silver truck stands out against the backdrop of colorful houses.
Very yummy, savory options. We didn't try the dumplings yet but will have to come back. The crepe is a great handheld lunch with a little crunch. I had it with meat, it's probably just as good without since there's a fried egg as well. The salty hosin and fresh lettuce complement the egg very well.
Ariel D — Google review
We loved the Chinese crepe, lots of flavor! The owners were very friendly, the cost (esp for Iceland) was very good. We would definitely recommend!
Calvin T — Google review
Flavorful, authentic, and great value! We visited this restaurant as, after a week of eating Icelandic lamb in Western styles, my parents (originally from China) and I were yearning to try Chinese style Icelandic lamb kebabs with cumin and spice — this place really hit the spot! The skewers were juicy and flavorful. We also ordered Chinese hamburger (rou jia mo), beef noodle soup, and Chinese crepe (jian bing)— these were all delicious and better than many restaurants we’ve had back in the US, especially the crepe which was the perfect balance of eggy, crispy, and flavorful from the sauce. We learned that the owners/staff are from Beijing originally, which is clear from authenticity of the food as well. They were kind and fluent in Mandarin and English (probably more as well). The restaurant itself is very clean and plain. Highly recommend!
Andrea N — Google review
Don’t get fooled by the simple food cart look, the food and flavors are extraordinary here. I tried almost all the items and I can say genuinely that the food was top notch. The lamb kebabs and crepes were my favorites. The meat was tender and flavorful. The dumplings were also super great. I usually never eat dumplings but I almost finished two rounds of them here. The host/owner is also very jolly and nice. I highly recommend this place if you want to have a quick and healthy bite to eat.
Ashish H — Google review
Wonderful service, real Chinese food (something I didn’t expect here in Iceland). Good service, I had tried the truck before it was nice but the resturant is even more cozy. It is tiny, it is good, The service was very good and portions was good for 2 to share. It is rare to find this type of resturant here….. They even had chinese chopsticks🥢. This resturant made me really happy, the menu is really thought out and the the lady that was our waiter was wonderful. This resturant is probobly the best kept secret of Reykjavik….
Asgeir G — Google review
The lamb skewers were disappointing — only four small pieces for 790 ISK, which felt far from good value. Portion sizes overall were not generous. The food came out so quickly that I honestly doubt it was freshly prepared. The environment was just average as well. Not terrible, but definitely not worth the price.

Food truck that has evolved into a restaurant. It is very nice inside (not a typical Chinese fast food restaurant). The host and server were nice. I had the lamb skewers and Chinese burger and it was great.

The food portion is very small even for one person, the price value is low. especially, the suck service is cooler than Iceland, no extra words, no smile to guests. For us the first dinner in Iceland was unhappy.

Subway is a popular counter-serve chain known for its customizable sandwiches and salads, offering health-conscious options. With 19 locations in Iceland, including one in downtown Austurstraeti, Subway provides the familiar taste of home for international travelers and a slice of Americana for locals. Some outlets are open 24/7, while others have specific operating hours.
I’ve been there with my mother and grandmother and they enjoyed the food and the staff was super helpful

Service: the girls at the counter were Courteous and attentive. Explained the different types of salad options patiently. Salad: was fresh and the sauces blended well Location: Good location right at the end of the rainbow street. Just a few metres away from the church.
Suneela I — Google review
The person minding the restaurant was rude to our party when one of us asked if we could use the restroom. He replied “there is no restroom!” And when we asked if there was a restroom nearby he said “I don’t know, you go walk outside and find” The coffee that I ordered had no coffee, it was just milk and water. I’ve come to Iceland 4 times already and found islanders to be very friendly and polite but this is the first time I’ve met someone who is rude.
Snakeweed S — Google review
The service at this Subway location was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being treated differently than the locals. The staff member working during our visit was snarky and dismissive, rushing us for no reason even though the store wasn’t busy. We were simply trying to understand the menu and ask polite questions about the sauces and ingredients, but instead of helping us, she acted as though we were bothering her. She refused to explain anything and wouldn’t honor any discounts. When we asked for her name to report the experience, she refused to give it. It’s unacceptable to treat any customer—especially someone new to the area—with such disrespect. This kind of attitude reflects poorly on the brand and creates an unwelcoming environment for travelers.
Roh S — Google review
Very kind and helpful personnel. Food is ok, subway style what to say more. There is no bathroom, which is a bit uncomfortable.
Norb E — Google review
Rude staff not recommended! Seriously, why are Subway employees always so rude or just down all of the time? if your sick off your job than quit! not blame and harass costumers with your rude nonsense.
Icemadnessx — Google review
A subway is a subway. Only recommended if you are desparate and really short of time. However, this subway was not particularly fast, either. This all happened, because the nice restaurant at Harpa that amazed us with an incredible lobster soup 3 years ago was closed this time around. And we panicked to get something to eat before a nice jazz concert. Our mistake...
