Pizza restaurant
Nestled in the charming surroundings of Reykjavik, Flatey Pizza is a delightful addition to the local dining scene. Just a short stroll from downtown and conveniently located near the Whales of Iceland museum, this trendy eatery specializes in authentic Napoli-style pizzas. Each pie is crafted with care, utilizing only the freshest ingredients—right down to farm-sourced tomatoes and high-quality mozzarella—to create mouthwatering flavors that truly shine.
Best pizza I’ve ever had! Honestly I’ll probably compare every pizza to the ones I had here for a very long time. We went twice during our stay, the wine was great too.
Rainey R — Google review
What a pizza!! We had their pizza of the month which burrata, Parmesan, basil and san marzano tomato sauce. The crust was well done on request and the pizza was saucy. Loved every bite of it.
Tejas S — Google review
Contrary to the name this pizza restaurant is not actually in Flatey however they do make amazing pizza in a real pizza oven. Definitely recommend
Thor I — Google review
My favorite pizza in Iceland! Absolutely fantastic. Fresh flavors and good portion sizes. Love the style of Flatey too. Even their pizza boxes are beautiful!
Michelle F — Google review
Food was great. We had the margherita pizza and Nutella pizza for dessert. No complaints there (except maybe the amount of basil that goes on the pizza. 1 leaf is technically basil existing on the pizza but... 😅). Our server was not ideal (blond woman, never got her name. ). She paid zero attention to us and was impossible to flag down. The guys making the pizzas were doing great and were very fast though.
Jessica A — Google review
I ordered the tartufo white pizza, it was delicious and a great portion for one person.
Jannat K — Google review
We arrived at 8:40pm (closes at 10) and it was clear staff were purposely ignoring new customers to avoid serving them so they could close up. Fair enough if they needed to close, but ignoring customers to make them go away is incredibly unprofessional. Shame as the pizzas looked delicious!
Jillian M — Google review
Flatey is a must in Reykjavik for an authentic Italian pizza experience! The pizzas are served fresh out of the oven, the crust is the perfect thickness, the flavors are delicious and deliver an authentic taste. We ordered the Diavola, the Umberto, and a customized veggie red pizza. My friends and I were all satisfied with our food. Service is also friendly and efficient. Overall a good staple Italian spot!

Pizza restaurant
Restaurant
Eldofninn pizzeria is a popular family-owned takeaway joint in Reykjavik, known for its scrumptious pizzas made from scratch using the finest local ingredients. The restaurant boasts a genuine stone oven imported from Italy, where pizzas are cooked in a wood fire and spun on a stone plate for even cooking. While it's located outside the city center, it's conveniently close to major attractions like Perlan.
Fantastic pizza! So far, the best one I’ve tried in Iceland, and my husband and I have tried a few different places, including one where a local claimed was the “best” in Iceland. I ordered a veggie pizza and added shrimp and basil. It was delicious, and I ate the entire thing by myself even though I wasn’t feeling that hungry.
S W — Google review
The manager and staff were so nice and accommodating to our family with 3 young kids. It was quite busy when we were there and the pizza came out quickly and they were very understanding and professional when our 6 year old accidentally broke a water glass. Our first pizza “had an accident in the oven” and they gave us that one plus another one without us even saying any. The pizza was also amazing of course. I’d give 10 stars if I could.
Karen B — Google review
Pizza was decent. We got the bacon egg pizza since it sounded different. Wish the bacon was a little crispier but overall it was good.
Fiona H — Google review
Could this be the best pizza in Reykjavík? There are probably people better qualified that me to argue that point but their pizzas are certainly very good. Made to order and cooked in a wood fired oven they come out piping hot and oh so tasty. Bravo chaps, keep up the good work.
Joe M — Google review
A small family owned restaurant. This hidden gem serves probably the best pizza in Reykjavik. It's a bit more pricy than places like Domino's but it's infinitely better and well worth the difference in price. Try it, you won't be sorry.
Ólafur Þ — Google review
The best pizza I have ever had in my life! We got the Bacon and Egg pizza that was delicious! Then we also got the Nomi Spec- that had black olives, green olives, red onions, cream cheese, pepperoni and dates. Who knew dates would be the best thing on pizza? They have garlic Olive oil and chili olive oil that was amazing on the pizzas!! By far the best eat we've had in Iceland!!
Mayson T — Google review
My favorite pizza in Reykjavik. 100% would recommend if you like Italian style pizzas.
Gissur S — Google review
It was ok. Small pizza joint. We had the garlic cheese bread and then 1/2 margarita pizza 1/2 cheese pizza. Pretty greasy. Food came out quick. Average price for dinner here. With so many good options in Reykjavik I would choose another pizza joint. I liked Blackbox Pizza much better.

Restaurant
The Coocoo's Nest is a charming restaurant located in Reykjavik's Grandi old port district, founded by the husband and wife team Iris Ann and Lucas Keller. The menu reflects Chef Keller's Californian roots with dishes like green eggs and ham, breakfast burritos, and the ever-changing Vegan Surprise. The restaurant hosts themed food nights and Italian-themed Happy Hours with aperitivo-inspired cocktails.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Reykjavik ... lovely atmosphere, friendly service and tasty, well made food with simple yet very nice presentation. The brunch menu has some great choices and I really liked the poached egg/spinach dish that I shared with a friend earlier today ( 30th December, 2020) ... 1/2 serving seen in the photos I'm sharing today. 😋 👍💕👍😋
Karitas M — Google review
An outstanding brunch location! Takes a while to walk down to the harbour but it is absolutely worth it. The staff were incredibly friendly and let us chill inside before they opened as the weather was quite brutal. Reasonably priced with amazing food and drinks. They offer a single vegan option "the vegan surprise". We had this and the breakfast burrito both were amazing. The vegan dish was designed as a vegan dish rather then removing non vegan elements and was incredible. They have a great drinks selection and we tried their beetroot mimosa which if you like beetroot is highly recommended. The restaurant is very cosy with great interior and amazing bathrooms. Sounds weird but some of the best bathrooms I've seen in a restaurant.
Henry C — Google review
Cozy and chic brunch spot serving beautifully scrambled eggs and omelettes that change daily, accompanied with a side of potatoes & bomb salsa and spongy sourdough bread (that I had to physically remove from my bf’s plate so he wouldn’t finish it). No reservations for brunch so come early!!
Claire — Google review
Easy to find location near the marina. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I went for brunch on a Saturday and ordered the vegan surprise. It was basically a loaded avocado toast and potatoes and absolutely AMAZING. Highly recommend when you're in Reykjavik.
Montgomery M — Google review
Amazing quality of food, the sour dough bread was super fresh, as was the rest of their ingredients for their 'omelette of the day'. The vibe is great for a chilled brunch with super hospitable and friendly staff, will definitely return in the future!
Samir E — Google review
Where hipster meets fine dining. Hipster atmosphere coupled with delicious fancy food. The place is small and cosy and is located in one of Reykjavik's hipest neighborhoods. Their brownie was super tasty and went quite well with the hot chocolate I ordered. Friendly English-speaking staff. They accept card payments.
Peter M — Google review
Absolutely delicious! I had the eggs Florentine with a blue cheese sauce, perfect sour dough, and delicious greens. Reasonably priced drinks for Iceland. English spoken and English menus available. Very homey atmosphere. Can get quite crowded for brunch. Small but pretty wheelchair friendly—there’s a metal ledge to get in (an inch or two high) that would require some help and a giant wheelchair accessible bathroom.
Nico H — Google review
My favorite spot in Iceland. I took my friends here for a brunch and they loved it. The service was great (sorry we kept asking for stuff) and the food was also really good. The place itself is well decorated and really pretty. Their bathroom is also super cute lol. Located literally right by the harbor and Valdi’s and also near FlyOverIceland and the whale museum so if you’re into that this is the place to eat.

Hot dog restaurant
Restaurant
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, which means "the best hot dog in town," is a legendary food stand located in central Reykjavik. Established in 1937, this humble stand has achieved cult status and is a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. The Icelandic version of the American hot dog served here features a unique blend of organic lamb, pork, and beef.
Pleasantly surprised. I was sure i wasn't going to like it. I'm not much of a hot dog person but had to try this famous hot dog with everything. Delicious! The crispy onions is such a good topping. Line was a bit long but it went quick. There are several table tops to get a quick bite and drink.
Vanessa R — Google review
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is probably the most famous hot dog stand in Iceland, and it’s become a bit of a tourist attraction in its own right. The location in central Reykjavík makes it easy to stop by, but be prepared for long lines, especially around lunchtime or in the evenings when tour groups and locals alike crowd in. The hot dogs themselves are tasty and hit the spot if you’re after a quick snack, but they don’t necessarily live up to the massive hype. Many visitors, and even locals, will tell you that you can find hot dogs at gas stations across Iceland that are just as good or even better. What really makes Bæjarins Beztu stand out are the sauces and toppings, especially if you order one “with everything” — crispy onions, raw onions, mustard, ketchup, and remoulade. The service is fast and straightforward, but don’t expect anything fancy; this is a simple hot dog stand with limited seating nearby. Prices are reasonable for Reykjavík, though like everything in Iceland, not exactly cheap compared to elsewhere. If you want to try it for the experience and say you’ve been, it’s worth doing once, especially if you happen to be in the area outside of peak hours. But if the line is long and you’re pressed for time, you’re not really missing out on anything life-changing. The real charm is the history and reputation, not necessarily the food itself. Overall, Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur is fun for the novelty and a quick bite, but manage your expectations. It’s a hot dog with good toppings, not a culinary revelation, and you can find equally satisfying versions in many other spots around Iceland.
R — Google review
The best hot dogs I've ever had. Consistently amazing. If you come to Iceland then you have to get at least one hot dog and if you do you should get it from here. I would absolutely recgomend anyone to get a hot dog with everything, but if you just like a standard hot dog then ask for one with ketchup and yellow mustard. I could easily eat five of these in one go. Its not as cheap as it used to be but please go here, you wont regret it!
Bill B — Google review
A must try in Iceland! These hot dogs look like US hotdogs, but taste way better. Make sure you get these bad boys with everything! The crispy onions on the bottom make this hot dog taste so special. I passed this stand quite a few times and there was always a line. Your trip is not complete until you partake in this classic tradition.
Frank R — Google review
This tiny hotdog stand has become extremely popular but the quality is amazing. Had to have two. An Icelandic hot dog is made with a blend of lamb, pork, and beef, and served on a steamed bun with toppings including ketchup, raw white onions, crispy fried onions, sweet brown mustard, and a creamy remoulade sauce. The wait isn't long though as each hot dog is assembled in about 3 seconds. The small footprint is efficient with little movement needed between order/pay, hotdog, and beverage. There are tables that can hold your hotdog but watch out for hungry birds as they will take it if you aren't careful! Highly recommend regardless of weather as long as it is open!
Dylan S — Google review
I got a hot dog with the works…it was really good! The bread was soft and fresh…and I loved that they put the condiments under the dog! This spot is located in a great area as well, around nightlife and other interesting joints!
T C — Google review
I had recently went to Iceland and I just had to try their famous hotdogs and this was DELICIOUS! Those onions hit and that sauce is a mixture of tangy and sweet and it's just so good. The advertisement doesn't lie. You just try it before you leave! Sorry, US but Iceland has better weeners than your ballparks XD
Kam V — Google review
I'm from the US and thought I understood what a hotdog should taste. I was wrong. This spot blew my mind, the crispy onion and fresh minced onion mix on the bun under the hotdog creates an amazing texture while the three sauces ontop create a spectrum of sweet and tangy flavours that go so well with the rich and salty meat of the dog. I strongly recommend this ESPECIALLY since I was also shocked at how quickly the woman at the stall whipped the hot dogs together and still kept them neat and well structured. So even though you might arrive to a line, don't think that it will take long at all. P. S. I am DEFINITELY trying to recreate these in the states.

Restaurant
Hornið, established in 1979, holds the distinction of being Reykjavik's oldest and first Italian restaurant. Situated in a charming yellow corner-house by the harbor, it offers delicious pizza and generous portion sizes. Its prime location makes it an ideal spot for a satisfying dinner after a day of exploration or before a night out on the town. While some visitors found the pizza to be good but not exceptional, others were impressed by the incredible pasta dishes served to neighboring tables.
The staff were very nice our food arrived in only 20 mins very quick service the prices weren’t expensive they were pretty cheap. The food was delicious the only problem I’d say about this pizzeria is the noise it’s not bad but sort of hard to talk.
Morgan T — Google review
Perfect family restaurant in the city centre. Cozy and welcoming, has high quality, fresh food that everyone enjoyed. We enjoyed a few of the wood fired pizzas and salad. Our son loved the kids spaghetti and meatballs - a strange choice but he remembered the restaurants name a few days later, so it made an impression. Cold draft beers hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing.
Matthew D — Google review
I'll start with the not too bad. The atmosphere is nice, with comfortable seating and an old fashioned decor. Staff is friendly too. However, the food is not filling at all (pizzas and pasta). The pizza is way too thin and the dough is inferior to Flateys. The pasta pescorino comes with a good amount of shrimp but the garlic bread isn't very good and overall not as good as the nearby Grandi Mathöll. Also, though they have paired with nova for a two for one lunch offer on pastas and pizzas they did not honor it due to pride day apparently, even though the offer had no exceptions for its use. Will never come by if possible. It is worth noting that there was a hair in the pasta so I had it sent back (though the staff did remove the item from the bill, it was still not great since we went back hungry).
Rohit G — Google review
What a gem. Great service, pizza and pasta were fantastic, and a cool atmosphere on the main floor. We happened to be there when a live jazz show was out on downstairs and that made a great place even greater - what a great night!
P G — Google review
Enjoyable meal after stumbling across Hornið unexpectedly and on the cheaper side for Iceland too! ~£40 for 2 pizzas and 2 soft drinks. The pizza was good, but not amazing. The base was slightly stiff and chewy but it tasted good. You can watch the pizza chef make pizzas if you’re sat downstairs too. If we revisited I think we’d order pasta as the dishes that were served to the tables around us looked incredible. Oh, and this is the oldest Italian restaurant in Iceland!
Megan G — Google review
Delicious pizza and ready quickly. Happy we stumbled upon this place to enjoy our last meal in Iceland.
Wendy P — Google review
Hornid is really close to the Reykjavik Konsulat Hilton hotel, so we stopped here for an easy dinner one night. The restaurant is on the corner and has a charming bistro style interior. We got a cheese pizza with black olives (extra) and my husband got a red wine. The pizza was okay. Not particularly delicious but it was more than enough and left us filled up. The house red wine was really bad, so you may want to upgrade to a better one. My husband thought it had gone bad, but I tasted it and said, "Nope, it is just a cheap wine." While the waitress was fine taking our order, she never came back to check to see how things were. She did come to ask if we wanted dessert which we said no to, but she never came back with our bill. We waited and waited, and I remember that in many European restaurants, they don't hurry you out like in the United States. There was only one or two tables filled and it was late. I finally went to where the wait staff was relaxing to request our bill. As a suggestion, if you are ready for your bill, make sure you tell the wait staff or else you could be waiting a long time. There were other Italian dishes like lasagna and pasta that might have been better, but my husband needed his pizza after a week of traveling.
Claire W — Google review
Great pizza, cozy building but terrible service. It was comically bad, like they gave us a pitcher of water with no glasses they were also very tense and mad which kinda ruined the vibe, other than that it’s cool.

Pizza restaurant
Devito's Pizza, established in 1994 by Hlemmur, is a popular spot among Reykjavik locals and nightlife enthusiasts. Known for its irresistible pizzas and fast, friendly service, Devito's has become a go-to destination for those seeking a classic takeaway pizza experience. While some argue over the best place to satisfy late-night cravings, Devito's stands out for its consistent quality and affordable offerings.
A nice little pizzeria. The interior is kept very simple, with seating only available at a counter by the window. The staff were friendly, but seemed rather listless/unenthusiastic. The pizza was good; the crust was crispy, the cheese was golden brown, and the texture was pleasant.
Daniel B — Google review
We ordered a take-away last night. When we arrived at our hotel and opened, we saw a burned pizza on both sides! Not nice to treat tourists, specifically that we did not have time to go back and complain! Burned pizza is obviously visible to the chef, so why he even delivered that to us?
Farzaneh E — Google review
The pizza was tasty, though the edges were slightly overcooked. The service was good, and I appreciated the option to use different oils from the counter, such as garlic and chili. We ordered one small and one large pizza, and later we were able to take the leftovers home. The seating was normal. Overall, it’s a good place.
Poonam S — Google review
It was a delicious gigantic pizza. We thought 16 cm would be the diameter of the pizza. Apparently, it was only the radius of it. We ended up packing the rest and bringing it to the hotel with us. People were kind and helpful.

They don't have Italian sausage, but the other ingredients were good. Not what I'm used to as an American, but I'm satisfied with the experience. Good food and fast. They had no problem making it the way we asked. (1/2 and 1)2)

Great pizza. Hot and fresh. I ordered a large cheese pizza with mushrooms and garlic. It was ready in just under 10 minutes as promised. Delicious! This location is walking distance from Hotel Klettur - just walk around back as though you’re heading towards their underground garage, you’ll see two sets of stairs, go down the stairs, take a right on the first street and the pizzeria is on the corner. 5 minute walk. Seating is available at the pizzeria if you wish to eat there. Highly recommend!

Restaurant
Baka Baka is a versatile establishment situated in a historic building in downtown Reykjavik. By day, it operates as a popular bakery and cafe, offering an array of freshly baked pastries and organic sourdough breads made with Icelandic stone-milled flour. The menu features signature items such as cardamom buns and sourdough croissants.
We tried Cinnamon rolls at a few popular places and this one was our favorite! Just the right amount of sweetness with a texture I enjoyed. We liked them so much we went every day for breakfast while we were in Reykjavik.

Had expectations high due to the reviews. Ordered the cardamom bun. Chewy and cold. Nothing special. Had the homemade sausages, small portion, 2 sunny side eggs and salad served was a mishmash not to my liking. But the service staffs are awesome a d hardworking. Polite yet friendly to everyone. Hard to get such staffs. Kudos to the team.

Visited this location in October 2025. Great service and atmosphere from this location. They’re a lot busier during breakfast. We ate breakfast and dinner on different days. Breakfast was a pleasant shakshuka with some tea. Liked the spices for the shakshuka. Good options (pastries!) and service. Dinner was great service, but the pizza we got needed more oomph or a standout flavor profile with the potato pizza. The crust was great though!

Wow! Such a delicious bakery! We started our trip in Reykjavik and found this bakery and had to return at the finish of our trip! Not pictured is the sourdough toast with butter- absolutely delicious! Might have to return for a third time this trip! The brownie and cookie were moist and rich!

We were here for breakfast, we had scrambled eggs with mushrooms and my husband had it with sausage. Also had the best cinnamon roll ever! I need to go back to get another one 🙂

Really good food! Pretty expensive for just two people however. We had the bacon and sausage breakfasts, a cinnamon roll, croissant, and the swiss mocha. Everything was really delicious

My boyfriend and I stopped here for some pastries and coffee! The Swiss mochas were the best that we tried on the whole island! We also got a pain au chocolate and a cinnamon roll! The pain au chocolate was really good it had the same delicious darker chocolate that the mochas had! Very cozy place! Would definitely come back to try out their full breakfast menu!

That was the best French toast I’ve ever had in my life! The service from EIBA was exceptional — truly above and beyond. I asked for my French toast to be served with maple syrup and whipped cream, which isn’t a usual request in Reykjavík, but she made sure it was done perfectly. The French toast itself was soft, flavorful, and delicious; the berries were fresh, and the lemon curd struck the perfect balance — not too sour. The maple syrup was impressively close to authentic Canadian syrup. My flat white was hot and perfectly made.

Restaurant
Blackbox Pizzeria in Reykjavik, Iceland offers a unique and delicious thin crust pizza experience. They use a combination of ingredients that are not typically found in traditional pizzas. The menu is available in English, which is convenient for those who may struggle with Icelandic. While the wait time can be a bit long, it is not overly problematic. This pizzeria allows Italians to enjoy pizza in Iceland, something that is typically unheard of.
There are no faults in this place. Iceland is where we had the best pizza ever! It was all next level.. I wish we could get the same quality home in Australia! I don't recall what we ordered but it was definitely delicious
Sharon E — Google review
This was our first stop when getting into Iceland, plus it was one of the only places open at that time. Pizza was delicious and we had no issues! We were the only people in the place but the atmosphere still seemed good.
Stephanie S — Google review
The food was good - but the service was absolutely horrendous. They took 40 minutes of us sitting at a table - after placing an order - to get us our food, or even water. The water bottle they begrudgingly gave us was covered in dirt and fingerprints. When the food finally came out, after watching them deliver to tables for 40 minutes, they shouted for us to come pick up the order at the counter? And nothing was cut, the breadsticks were just a giant slab of bread, and they were the wrong kind. Took another five minutes just to wash two pizza cutters so we could slice it up ourselves. Yeesh. Thank god the food was good. If you go here, get take away or delivery, and expect a looooong wait / incorrect items.

Some of the best pizzas in Iceland! I really like the crust. It comes fast, there are many varieties and offers. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very cool. I highly recommend this pizzeria.

Thin crust, firestone pizza. I'm from Ohio, USA and I felt that they used a unique combination of ingredients that aren't typically used where we're from. The menu was in English as well which was useful for me since I was struggling with Icelandic despite my studying beforehand 😅the wait was a bit extensive but it wasn't too bad.
Brayana — Google review
Very nice pizza with a twist. If you want to try duck confit on pizza then this is the place. Their open fire oven produces a perfect crust baked to the right texture. Sandwiches and smoothies available, too.
Gudmundur J — Google review
Can Italians ever eat pizza in Iceland?! Certainly not. But... if you know the Blackbox pizzeria, in Reykjavik, you can! At the moment it's the best pizza I've ever eaten abroad, and also in some pizzerias in Italy 🤭
Leda D — Google review
Top mention: gluten free pizza dough! The only minus is that it's smaller than a regular pizza. It tastes good, is crispy and holds well for eating by hand. The service surprised me completely, it was very good and the young staff member was always one step ahead of my needs or questions. The atmosphere is also good, music could be a bit loud for some but they had a good nostalgic playlist and a signing along staff member, which made me smile a lot. So, definitely recommend!

KFC is a popular restaurant chain known for its delicious buckets of fried chicken, combo meals, and various sides. In Iceland, KFC was one of the dominant fast-food chains alongside Domino's Pizza and Subway in the late 90s and early 2000s. However, McDonald's presence was short-lived due to economic reasons. Despite some omissions on the Icelandic menu like mashed potatoes and biscuits, KFC offers permanent vegan and vegetarian options along with limited-time offerings at select locations.

Very expensive. 3 pieces of chicken, two corns, and two French fries cost $30 USD. Chicken tasted bad. However, it was clean.

Me and my husband cane to eat. The service was ok. But when I have asked to clean the table or the area the women at the counter said that it cannot be done because "they are busy". In my opinion the place where the customers are eating should be a priority. Because if we haven't ordered already we definitely would have left that disgusting place. Also the portion of fries wasn't even, even though we ordered the same portion size one was also double then the other the wings were very oily, we definitely not coming back there

Subway is a popular counter-serve chain known for its customizable sandwiches and salads, offering health-conscious options. The person minding the restaurant was rude to our party when one of us asked if we could use the restroom. He replied “there is no restroom!” And when we asked if there was a restroom nearby he said “I don’t know, you go walk outside and find” The coffee that I ordered had no coffee, it was just milk and water. I’ve come to Iceland 4 times already and found islanders to be very friendly and polite but this is the first time I’ve met someone who is rude.
Snakeweed S — Google review
The service at this Subway location was extremely disappointing. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being treated differently than the locals. The staff member working during our visit was snarky and dismissive, rushing us for no reason even though the store wasn’t busy. We were simply trying to understand the menu and ask polite questions about the sauces and ingredients, but instead of helping us, she acted as though we were bothering her. She refused to explain anything and wouldn’t honor any discounts. When we asked for her name to report the experience, she refused to give it. It’s unacceptable to treat any customer—especially someone new to the area—with such disrespect. This kind of attitude reflects poorly on the brand and creates an unwelcoming environment for travelers.

A subway is a subway. Only recommended if you are desparate and really short of time. However, this subway was not particularly fast, either. This all happened, because the nice restaurant at Harpa that amazed us with an incredible lobster soup 3 years ago was closed this time around. And we panicked to get something to eat before a nice jazz concert. Our mistake...

Restaurant
Forrettabarinn Restaurant & Bar, also known as the Starters Bar, is a charming spot near Reykjavik's old harbor that offers a delightful selection of tapas-style dishes inspired by local ingredients and Icelandic recipes. The restaurant boasts a stylish exterior adorned with a wave-like mural, reflecting its coastal location. Inside, the ambiance seamlessly blends rustic wood with contemporary elements such as minimalist white walls and elegant lighting.
This was probably our favourite meal in iceland and was (for iceland) very sharply priced. By Australian standards this would be fine. The bread with olive teppanade is so delicious you may want another. The seafood soup was bursting with flavour and had some nice seafood bites to it. The salmon entree had a lot of good textures i hadn't had with salmon before, and I loved how it wasnt overly salty or fishy. The edamame quaesidilla were bit what i expected, but in a good way. I love how it was so playful and had so much more crunchy then a regular quaesidilla.
Karl C — Google review
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Forréttabarinn. Every small plate was a hit, but the standout for us was the horse, unbelievably tender, perfectly cooked, and elevated even further by a rich red wine reduction that was out of this world. The risotto and fish dishes were also exceptional, each with incredible flavor and beautiful presentation. And the desserts? The perfect sweet finish to an already perfect meal. Cozy atmosphere, great service, and a creative menu that delivers on every bite. Highly recommend!

During our recent visit to Reykjavik, we stumbled upon this delightful restaurant that truly exceeded expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, and made the entire experience feel personal and relaxed. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, with wooden beams, soft lighting, and a charming decor. The menu offers a well-curated selection of dishes, with something to please every palate. From fresh fish to hearty lamb and vegetarian options, everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The drink list was equally impressive, featuring local craft beers, wines, and creative cocktails. Considering Reykjavik’s reputation for high prices, the value here was surprisingly good. Quality was top-notch, and the overall experience felt worth every krona. If you're looking for a place that combines authentic atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food at a fair price, I can highly recomment this restaurant.

Really good food! The meat, both lamb and horse, was cooked perfectly. Really tender. Great prices for what it is as well for Iceland standards. We had the 4 course meat option.

My girlfriend and I chose this restaurant as our nice dinner out on our trip, and we couldn’t be more happy with our decision. I loved the atmosphere of the establishment, the service was nice and kind. In terms of courses you have the option to do their courses they prepared for you or pick your own small plates, we did the latter. We enjoyed every single dish and drink we got. Would suggest this restaurant to anyone.

We both got the 4 courses meal. I had the meat rib one and my friend had the fish one. We spent less than 2 hours here, service was quick. Every dish was delicious. Staff was very kind and it is priced very reasonably for iceland!
Cloé — Google review
The food was good, though portions seemed a bit small. The horse meat was interesting - a bit beefy but less tender. The barley risotto was good - also seems to be the only grain they grow locally. The market fish - a white fish was delicious. The scallops were small and not quite tender. (Perhaps this was intended to be an appetizer?) So wouldn’t order this again. As many people have said, the bread with olive tapenade is amazing, a great way to start off the meal.

ABSOLUTELY EAT HERE! It was that amazing we are here twice! The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond! Nothing was too much trouble! The first night we went for a beef steak and then the next night we went for a variety of beef steaks, burgers along with whale and horse steaks! All the food was AMAZING and the best steak that I have ever had! I also have a gluten allergy and the staff were knowledgeable around what could be eaten and there were loads of options! We also celebrated my mums birthday here and the staff definitely added to the celebrations to make special memories.

One of the best restaurants I have been in a while. The atmosphere was great but what stands out is their staff, the food and attention to detail. We went for anniversary dinner and was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing, the meat was amazingly cook, the dessert was a dream and the attention was absolutely marvelous, our waiter was really nice. It is a little expensive restaurant but is worth it.

Simply the best restaurant in Iceland. Not just a Steakhouse. This place tops every single restaurant in Iceland. There's nowhere on this island you'll get a better or higher quality meal. Their steaks are immaculate from their tenderloin to the Icelandic dry aged rib eye aged in house. Their burger is the absolute best in whole of Iceland. Made with offcuts of their steaks. Excellent selection of wines along with incredibly knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is unmatched and you'll leave like your standard of what a good steak is has been vastly elevated. This restaurant is frequented by locals and is fully booked most nights. I personally visit multiple times a month.

The best lamb I’ve ever had in Europe — and honestly, the best meal of my trip! The lamb was so tender and flavorful that it didn’t even need any sauce. You can really taste the pure, fresh flavor of the meat. The butter corn was also super tasty. This was my first meal in Reykjavik, and I highly recommend it to everyone! It’s a bit pricey, but everything else was perfect. Oh, and the tiramisu was just okay — but the lamb is a must-try!

One of the best restaurants located right near the water. Quiet and cozy atmosphere, with pleasant background music. The waiter is attentive and friendly, and service is fast. The steak was heavenly, very tender, the fries (or chips) were crispy and well-salted, and the dessert was equally delicious. Everything is homemade and freshly prepared. Overall, it is highly recommended and worth visiting again and again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fantastic culinary experience in Reykjavík! The Steakhouse is an absolute must-visit if you're looking for high-quality Icelandic cuisine with a great atmosphere. The highlight for me was trying the whale meat, which was cooked perfectly and full of unique flavor a rare experience you won’t find in many places. The restaurant also offers local Icelandic shots, which were a fun and authentic addition to the meal and made the evening even more memorable. The service was friendly and attentive, and the presentation of every dish was excellent. Prices are fair for the quality, and the whole experience feels both local and special. Me and my husband stayed in Iceland for a few days and this was one of the first restaurants we found.. and absolutely loved it! The presentation of the food was great, and it tasted even better. The gentleman who served us was lovely, and we were in & out within about 45 minutes. I’d definitely recommend 😊

I first visited this place during my first visit in Iceland in 2016 and was sure to set my foot there again. The impression of the best vegetarian burger ever eaten was confirmed - during the last decade I have tasted many, many no-cruelty burgers, but the Icelandic burger factory ;) keeps its well deserved place on the podium. I'm also positively surprised by the prices that have not risen drastically over the last decade. And don't skip the honey mustard sauce, it's finger licking good, the best I have ever ever ever tasted!

We had lunch at Islenska Hamborgarafabrikkan in Reykjavík and the food did not disappoint. The burgers were delicious — juicy, flavorful, and well-prepared. I went for a double patty just in case, and while it hit the spot, even a single would’ve likely been enough for most people. Portion sizes were decent and the overall presentation was great. The total for two meals came to around 67€, which isn’t cheap, but it felt fair for Reykjavík standards given the quality. The only real downside was the service. There were no waiters attending tables, so despite being the only customers at the time, we had to wait quite a while to be seated, to order, and then to actually get the food. It felt a bit disorganized, which was frustrating considering how empty the place was. Great food, but the service could definitely use some improvement.

Many of our orders got mixed up. The food was rather simple and bland. The interior is nice and there's a nice view of the surroundings and Höfði. For this price I will go somewhere else next time.

After being sat down, I think they forgot about me and I had to flag a server down. I ordered the animal Park Burger, which had great flavour and was definitely tasty. It’s a shame that the egg, while runny, was Ice cold, and the burger was Luke warm at best, the only hot part of the food, was the fries. The service wasn’t great, but adequate, although the staff did seem obsessed gathered around a screen at the bar and looking at that, not sure what was going on there. If the food has been hot, the rating would have been higher, real shame.

La Primavera Ristorante is a North Italian restaurant with two locations in Reykjavik, one in the Harpa concert hall and the other in the historic Marshall House. Since its establishment in 1993, it has been dedicated to bringing authentic Italian flavors to Iceland. The menu features regional Italian dishes that incorporate fresh Icelandic produce, offering a unique twist on classic favorites.
We came here based on the recommendation from Netflix’s Somebody Feed Phil. This restaurant had delicious seafood and everything was top notch and elegant. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine pairings and suggested the perfect bottle of white to go with our feast. Reservations recommended.

#Hashtag S — Google review
Worst restaurant in Reykjavík Hi there, my name is Jökull, Im a local of Reykjavík and I’ve been to most of the restaurants in the city. I can unequivocally say La Primavera is the worst one. A sudden decision to go out on a friday, most of downtown is already booked, so I look for something near the docks. 4.5 stars, italian, what could possibly go wrong? The menu didn’t look like a menu for italian food, it was one of those menus where they list 3 of the ingredients as a course name. We ponder this conundrum a bit and I jokingly say: “there’s a kebab place close by you know…” Bread was boring, tasteless, no salt provided. Italy is known for a it’s warm fresh white bread, why am I being served cold coarse sourdough? Appetiser was a salad to share, not because we’re that kind of people but because that’s the only starter that sounded like food. It was the most chaotic and uninviting salad I have ever had, with peaches and whipped ricotta it was only one ingredient away from being a nice desert. The main courses: Carbonara and a shellfish pasta. Okay this is getting a bit ridiculous, two more bland and unappealing dishes, I make better carbonara at home and I’m not that good in the kitchen. Honestly the AI could do a better job, it’s carbonara, how complicated could it be? Im not sure what to say about the seafood pasta, it looked very bad, and neither tasted like seafood nor pasta. For reference it’s the black mess in a bowl in the accompanying photos. For these 3 courses and two drinks I paid 178 dollars. No discount even though we barely touched the food. The waiters knew we didn’t like the food, but the didn’t approach us and ask. We got up to pay and told them we were not happy and they said sorry, and charged the full amount. I wont tell you where to go to explore the culinary city of Reykjavík, there’s so many decent places. But please, go anywhere else than La Primavera. Reykjavík is expensive, and quality is generally really high. We had a kebab on the way home. Unfortunate foreshadowing.

Best dinner we had in Iceland. Came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We ordered the carbonara and the veal with spaghetti, both were excellent. The carbonara was the best I’ve ever had. Service was excellent and the ambience was great.

La Primavera was nothing short of spectacular. From the ambiance to the simple menu, the wine selection and service. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel special and welcomed. The location is away from the crowded downtown while being 5 minutes away from it and there's plenty of parking. Now to their food. Perfectly balanced dishes, best ingredients, freshly made pasta, perfect execution and plating. Once of the best restaurants in Europe without a doubt.
Grey T — Google review
This restaurant was elegant and the food was delicious with beautiful presentation. La Primavera was very accommodating of our large group and variety of dietary needs. I highly recommend the mozzarella di bufala with marinated tomatoes and nectarines. I also had a delicious vegetarian pasta dish. The tiramisu was absolutely decadent.
Cheri M — Google review
Out of our whole trip, I could say without a doubt that this was the worst restaurant in all of Reykjavík. It wasn’t busy and food still took over an hour to be served, which was missing items and was horrible. We got the seafood linguine and veal carbonara, which was hilariously bland, seriously a block of salt would’ve tasted better. Linguine was alright but after waiting for over an hour it still was missing the lobster - which came after we were done eating. Our server only checked in on us three times before the food arrived and never came back. One time for water, second for wine, third for bread and appetizer, then a whole hour until a food runner brought our meals. I mean that veal felt like it was stale, not seasoned, and old - it wasn’t even hot! Had to comment again it was pretty funny how bad it was. The other issue was that the restaurant was unbelievably hot, even in my thin sweater I was sweating which caused me and my wife to be very uncomfortable. They apologized for the long waits and could see how upset we were and still charged full price ($184). We even rushed home from our day trip to Kirkjufell to make our reservation, and like we said many times we should’ve just canceled.

Raðagerði Veitingahús is a charming neighborhood restaurant located in the town of Seltjarnarnes, just a short drive from Reykjavik. Housed in a historic building dating back to the late 19th century, the interior exudes traditional charm, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere for diners. The menu features Neapolitan-style pizzas with both classic and innovative toppings, such as smoked lamb and local mushrooms.
Raðagerði is an amazing place for brunch! The location is charming, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. We had a great experience — the food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We were especially happy to see that they offer vegan options, which were just as tasty and satisfying as everything else on the menu. It’s the kind of place where you feel at home right away. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a high-quality brunch in Reykjavík, whether you’re vegan or not!

This is a hidden gem.. We found this place through a recommendation and very glad we did. They have a great selection of food. We ordered a burrata pizza, mascarpone meatballs, lasagne and slow cooked short ribs.. All of them were delicious. Loved each and every bite.
Onur Ş — Google review
Wouldn't recommend - I had very high expectations for this place, as it came highly recommended. The sauce was so thick and heavily applied that it completely overwhelmed the pizza, especially the delicate flavor of the burrata. The only thing I could taste was the concentrated tomato puree. Despite reaching out the the restaurant, I feel my opinion fell on deaf ears as they focused on the quality of the sauce, rather than the quantity.

Ráðagerði is a cozy restaurant & café located in Seltjarnarnes, by the Grótta lighthouse and nature reserve. It is housed in a historic timber building dating from before 1900. Though it feels like it’s out in the countryside, it’s very accessible — only about a 6–7 minute drive from central Reykjavík. The views are a big part of the charm: sea, wide expanses, volcanoes, mountains, and the lighthouse make the surroundings special. Especially in summer, outdoor dining is pleasant; in winter the atmospheric setting is good for quiet evenings, sometimes even northern lights.

We had the best time at your place guys. The atmosphere, the staff, the food just everything ❤️! We messed up the reservation and you still accomodated and then were attentive to the special birthday request. Thanks a lot for making the experience amazing. I have probably had brunch in 90% of the places offering brunch in greater reykjavik over the past 10 years, and you guys have become my n°1 🥹!

Beautiful oceanside location & amazing pizza! We sat outside to watch the sunset, saw the lighthouse turn on, & listened to the waves - it was gorgeous! I got the margherita vegan pizza - flavorful & perfect. Very sweet of the staff to bring us blankets so it was extra cozy. Definitely a top favorite spot in Reykjavík, can’t wait to go back!
Sierra S — Google review
The food is excellent. A little pricey. The noise level kind of loud inside but outside is nice in the summer time. The waitstaff is, some nice but once I went there, there was a polish or Lithuanian lady who wasn't very nice.

This place is amazing! I’ve been here multiple times, and it never disappoints. The service is always great, the atmosphere is super cozy, and the food is incredible. The pizza is the best in Reykjavík, and the desserts are just perfect. I honestly love everything about this place—hope they keep it up!

Domino's Pizza is a popular delivery and carryout chain known for its wide variety of pizzas and other dishes. The chain has recently added vegan cheese to its menu, joining the trend seen in many pizzerias worldwide. While ingredients may vary by location, Domino's in Iceland does not use eggs in their crust, making it suitable for vegans. Customers have praised the delicious and affordable pizzas offered at Domino's, with deals available during lunch and dinner.
Great service, the staff was really friendly. There's a table next to a large window through which you can get a full view of the sea. I ordered a medium pizza, half T-Rex half Tokyo, and I would be lying if I said that this wasn't the best pizza I've ever tried. My only complain is that I haven't been able to find this type of pizza anywhere else, so I guess I'll have to travel to Iceland just to have it again.
Ale — Google review
Honestly the Icelandic version of dominos tastes so much better than US. We tried a couple different ones and the fresh garlic just takes it on another level. Great crust. Yum.
Shiona D — Google review
Nice to see that Domino’s in Iceland have vegan cheese ! Pizza was good, we had the vegan feast with bbq sauce and vegan chicken. The vegan cheese is the same price !
Rachel T — Google review
Pizza itself was good. The cheesy bread sticks were extremely dry to be honest and barely had any cheese. The bbq wings lacked a lot of flavor and tasted like frozen grocery store wings you get. Edible but not the greatest. Pizza was delicious and I would only get that next time. Service was great.
Aaron L — Google review
Great Vegan options. I never thought I would say that about Domino's but it is true in Iceland! They have an entire menu for vegans. The Cajun Bread sticks were the highlight for me!
Chris S — Google review
I don’t even know if start, from the completely impolite acting of “stuff” or the 45 euro spent for these 2 little things called “pizza” Asking just about gluten free options politely could guy keep repeating me if wanted gluten free bread, like 4 times, we seated and waited(we were the only 2 people” we asked even for a plastic fork or knife, they say they don’t have any, same as knowledge about gluten apparently cause on pizza was all containing gluten, honestly stay away from this place, pathetic

Super awesome team and great service. Very flexible in pizza toppings customization. Don’t miss Tuesday special ! 1500 for a medium pizza on Tuesday with 3 toppings

The Keto breadsticks at Pizzan Hringbraut were absolutely fantastic. Even after four months, they still linger in my thoughts. These delectable treats are definitely a must-try when visiting Reykjavik! Additionally, their pizza is highly enjoyable, and the service provided is commendable. The pizzas offered are of superior quality compared to others in the market. Pizzan Hringbraut truly delivers on taste and customer satisfaction.
Pizza was great, garlic bread stick were awesome and the staff members assisting us was amazing. We're travelling here so we're not able to create an account on line and he helped with our order. Amazing guy!
Stu C — Google review
I had a very disappointing experience at this pizza place. The staff was incredibly disorganized, and it took forever for someone to even acknowledge me. I had to wait an unreasonably long time just to get a glass of water, and when it was finally my turn to place my order, it felt like it took ages. The whole process was slow, frustrating. Pizza was good 👍
Mladen Ž — Google review
The worst experience I've ever had in Iceland. I ordered a pizza at 15:30 and it was delivered to me at 17:40 absolutely cold. Then without informing me they made another pizza as an apology. I understand that they wanted to make it right, but in this case they should have at least notified the customer of their decision. I wanted a refund, but they had already sent a second pizza. I understand that they don't have their own delivery service and use Wolt, but they should have some control over the delivery process because it's their reputation. I will never order anything here again. I don't recommend it to anyone
Anastasiia P — Google review
When it comes to Pizza as a fast food option. Not in an Italian sense but more of a western style it is good. Don’t get me wrong nothing beats a good old Neapolitan pizza however for a pizza like they serve at Pizzan. They have a really good menu and variety of pre picked pizza toppings. I recommend you to try them out.
Svarfdal N — Google review
We ordered pizza with mushrooms, ham and cheese. Unfortunately, they didn't put cheese on the pizza, when we called to inform them about it, they said there was nothing they could do. ;( We often ate at your place and were always satisfied. Unfortunately, after today's treatment... I don't recommend it... there might be no mushrooms... but pizza without cheese is impossible to eat 😔

Plútó pizza has made a comeback in the neighborhood pizza scene, offering sought-after NY style pies with familiar and comforting flavors. The pepperoni, dates, and cream cheese pie is a local favorite, while off-the-menu specials like the salami pizza with fresh mozzarella and basil showcase the manager's creativity. Customers enjoy the well-baked pizzas that cater to different preferences, from heavy cheesy options to more unique flavors.
This is my third trip to Iceland now. I visited during the longest days (June) and darkest hours (December to February 2019 and 2020). Every time I visit I love diving into new foods, and trying the newest hot popular spots that the locals are talking about. About myself, I’m Sicilian background and living in the US and after watching the TMNT as a kid I’ve always loved pizza! I grew up in the Detroit/Chicago areas (where deep dish is #1) and I’m currently living in NYC for 12 plus years (where slices are bigger than life), so you can say I’m a pizza fanatic. I’m very picky when it comes to the ingredients on the pie, how greasy it is, and the way the items compliment each other as you start from the front or the back of the slice. Let’s just say Pluto did not disappoint! From the smell to the first bite I fell in love with Pluto Pizza. Why didn’t this place exist on my first two trips to Reykjavik!? Very glad this place was recommended to me. Where do I begin... I ate the vegetarian (had zucchini and tomatoes) pizza, jalapeño and pepperoni pizza, ham and olives pizza, the margarita pie, and the bacon filled pizza pie. Yes, I spoiled myself and went all out on Pluto’s most popular items. The ingredients are all fresh. It’s almost like they hand picked each one, roasted and cooked them to perfection before adding it as a topping. There were perfect hints of roastedness and salt in the bites! It drove my taste buds wild. The bread and sauce were outstanding. They need to sell these separately bc I would buy them. Overall, I’ll give Pluto five Italian pinecone gestures for being the best pizza on the island. No other pizza joint compares to the quality and taste of this pizza 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌

Really good pizza place! Liked the interior, food and service. I had the Grandma's Garden (?if I remember correctly) and their tiramisu for take away, after casual pool visit, those both places definitely go together ;) The pizza was well baked, did not taste like only cheese and oil (though I suppose there is something for heavy cheesy pizza lovers in the offer) ans the edge crust was fluffy. I would recommend it for 3-4 people (cause, oh boy) or keeping in fridge for several dinners 😅 (or, as a exam period survival food for students), the homemade sauces selection is worth attention! All in all, very good pizza experience. I won't even compare it to Domino's cause that's not the league. What about the tiramisu? Well, that would be the only thing I would improve, I expected something else of the creme, it was rather a foam, and the coffee taste was very delicate, will need to check it out one more time though!
Karolina Ł — Google review
Tasty enough pizza and soda for US $22. A spartan dining atmosphere, no wine or beer but a great value.
Will E — Google review
Delicious! The manager (or owner?) hooked us up with an off-the-menu special salami pizza with locally made, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil! I was only planning on eating 1 piece and saving the rest for later. Ended up having 3 at the restaurant! My only wish was that they had some alcohol options in the fridge. Being from the US, I don't know how the alcohol laws work in Iceland, but a can of Viking would have gone great with the pizza!
Bruce S — Google review
Worst pizza I have ever eaten. I will add that it was prepared for delivery, but the delivery took 5 minutes. The pizza was either undercooked or lay on in the box too long after baking. The dough was disgusting. I'm sorry because I thought I would get something better from a small pizzeria than from a commercial one. And it was much much worse and more expensive.
Justyna G — Google review
Pizza was delicious and the crust was perfect. I really liked the meatballs on the pizza. Will definitely get this when I’m in Iceland again.
Jagvir B — Google review
Delicious pizza, not like anything else on the market, fast delivery, great service! We had a minor issue with our order and Pluto went above and beyond and fixed it! Highly recommended!
Oskar B — Google review
Nothing special about the pizza. The dough was very simple. The toppings are quite nice actually, the tomate sauce is not the perfect.
