Restaurant
Husk is a culinary gem nestled in a beautifully restored Victorian-era home in Charleston's historic district. Since its inception in 2010, this restaurant has captivated both critics and food enthusiasts with its innovative approach to Southern cuisine, led by the talented James Beard award-winning chef Sean Brock. The menu is a delightful surprise that changes daily, showcasing locally sourced Low Country ingredients and honoring traditional Southern heirloom recipes.
We chose to celebrate our ten year anniversary at Husk. We had scallops for our appetizer, that were fresh and light but I would prefer a sear or for them to be warm. I appreciate the creativity of the chef though! I am celiac so wanted to have the cornbread which was a savory delight! We were surprised to only see one fish entree on the menu and that’s what I chose for my entree! It too was very creative with lots of flavor. My husband had the rabbit and while a much heavier and heartier dish, he enjoyed it as well. I think we both would have liked to see more fish on the menu but maybe there is on other nights. Our server was excellent! He was very knowledgeable and aware allergens. I felt very safe eating here with celiac and was so pleased with the options. One way to make a celiac happy is to have more options on the dessert menu and there were several! I couldn’t believe the cake we shared was gluten free! It was out of this world and probably my favorite part of the meal!

We had the chance to dine at Husk, a place we’d heard so much about. The atmosphere is warm and lively, and the staff have a great sense of humor—at one point they were laughing that my partner’s shirt looked just like their uniform. The color was almost identical, though theirs was cotton and his was linen. A lighthearted detail that made the evening even more memorable. The tuna tartare was good, though it took quite a bit of persuading to get bread with it. Oddly enough, other dishes on the menu include bread, but here it seemed like a challenge. Eventually, the waiters relented and brought it over. The real highlight of the evening, however, was the mushroom pasta. Perfectly cooked, layered over a rich mushroom purée (or perhaps a silky sauce), topped with grits. The dish was boldly seasoned with black pepper—spicy, sharp, and pronounced—yet beautifully balanced. Paired with a glass of Pinot Noir, it was perfection. Out of our entire trip, this is the one dish that truly stayed with me. In fact, I would say it’s the best dish I’ve had in the past year—even compared to meals in Michelin-starred restaurants.
Kristina Z — Google review
Made birthday reservations and our waiter Kevin was absolutely amazing! Fantastic suggestions, perfect timing on the courses and drinks. Hit all of the highlights and answered all of our question; even when he said he'd have to differ to the bartender Damian when we asked for suggestions about adding a shot of something to the mockingbird, mocktail (Bar Hill Tom Cat gin, I will not be able to recommend this enough and I'm not usually a gin drinker). The oyster starter was grilled to perfection and my companions arent usually fans of oysters and I nearly had to fight them for my share! The pimento cheese and ham was super flavorful and the biscuits fluffy while still being sturdy, great highlight to the house pickles. The scallop starter was light and flavorful, a little bit of spice from the jalapeño, but not too overwhelming. The cornbread side was absolutely delightful, the eggplant flavorfull and well roasted. The chicken fried rabbit was jucy and delicious, the grits and gumbo offset it with a wonderfully deep, rich flavor. The pastrami was pull apart soft and juicy, with some solid roasted potatoes. The diver scallops were buttery smooth and melt in your mouth; the succotash was lightly sweet, with a lot of good corn flavor and a hint of roasted tomatillo. The icebox cake was much lighter than I was expecting with a good mocha flavor and smooth dark chocolate pastry. The seasonal ice cream we went with was the muscadine, which is apparently a local grape, which we never would have guessed, and will now go on, wishing it was a flavor we could get shipped back home with us to MN. It was absolutely amazing, light and flavorful with some vanilla bean, and i now have a quest to get my hands on some of those grapes. We will absolutely be returning for more seasonal options and to find out whats for dinner next time!

This was the most amazing experience. Our server Chris was phenomenal. We came for a special occasion and the staff KNEW. It was phenomenal. The menu was personalized for us. The food was phenomenal. We had the Carolina rice, cornbread to start - I would recommend splitting one of those not getting both. They were both amazing but it definitely was a generous portion so it was tough to finish the entrees. For mains we had pork rib eye and rabbit rigatoni. Both were amazing. Drinks were served quickly and cold so we were happy campers. After dinner we headed to “the bar at husk” which was also a great place to settle in after a hearty dinner. Definitely an earned reputation for Husk. Top 10 dining experience.
Andrew M — Google review
Firstly, beware that there are two sides of HUSK. One is fine dining and the other is casual bar dining. We mistakenly went to the casual side although we intended on fine dining, we weren't disappointed. The food were delicious and the service was excellent and the ambience was great. The burger and fries were the best I've had a a restaurant and okra was amazing. I recommend this place for a great dining experience.

This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Charleston—it’s definitely a staple! I would highly recommend anything on the menu, but the deviled eggs are absolutely incredible. I also loved the shrimp and grits, and the pimento cheese plate with biscuits and prosciutto is a must-try. The service here is always amazing—the staff is friendly, attentive, and really makes the experience special. Husk is one of those places you’ll keep coming back to! It’s my second time this summer😋
Gray S — Google review
WOW. It was packed on a Monday night and it’s easy to see why. The dirty california gold rice was insanely flavorful and moist, the cornbread skillet was delicious, the pastrami brisket was so tender with a flavorful crust…such an unreal meal! The menu changes daily, which is so fun. Our server, Chris, was also wonderful and so helpful. Definitely make a reservation and check out Husk if you’re in Charleston!
Paige D — Google review
Wonderful restaurant with an excellent menu that reflects Charleston and the surrounding area’s culture. Although the menu changes somewhat from what I hear, the “chicken fried rabbit is the best I have ever tasted - moist with excellent flavors. Don’t miss this dining experience if you are visiting this beautiful city.

Restaurant
The Ordinary is a trendy seafood restaurant located in a 1920s bank building on Upper King Street. Since its opening in 2012, it has been a pioneer in the raw bar trend in Charleston. The restaurant offers a variety of seafood dishes including oysters, crudo, caviar, and fish-head gumbo. It also boasts a rum-centric focus with an array of cocktail classics and house specialties.
It’s hard to live up to hype but The Ordinary delivered. Great service and delicious food and drinks. Loved the room - we were a group of 5 that sat upstairs overlooking the dining room. Get the oyster sliders, steak tartar and smoked oysters.
Tiffany M — Google review
I wish all the ordinary will be like this place. Fresh oysters, dishes done for perfection, everything in each dish is needed. Attentive service, great cocktails. Highly recommended

Our server, Alison, was very knowledgeable and provided excellent guidance and impeccable service throughout our dining experience. Started with the fish cake. Very light and tasty. I had the Red Snapper, so many flavors. Every bite was heaven. My wife, had the Waygu steak with mushrooms, so delicious! Usually, I am leery of going to a seafood restaurant and ordering anything other than seafood but in this case, I would not hesitate ordering the steak! For a side we went with their seasonal rice dish. So many flavors For dessert we had the Pannacotta paired with a glass of white port wine and Chocolate Hazelnut pot de creme paired with a tawny port. We savored every bite and enjoyed this dining experience, from start to finish.
Scott — Google review
We received a very generous gift certificate to The Ordinary as a wedding gift, as we were visiting Charleston on our honeymoon, and we had a wonderful and memorable dining experience from start to finish! We were impressed from the moment we were seated. The restaurant and bar spaces were expansive with huge windows and soaring ceilings, and beautifully decorated. We were welcomed at our table by a little handwritten card wishing us “congratulations,” and our server, Allison, was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and thoughtful. After delivering our cocktails and complimentary bubbles, she offered to take our photo and proceeded to arrange not only our seating but the items on the table to ensure a very nice shot! Our cocktails were uniquely crafted and very enjoyable, not too heavy or sweet. My husband ordered the crab cake appetizer and the snapper for his main course. I ordered the Wagyu Steak Diane and we shared a side of the seasonal rice (without the shrimp) - every bite of food was so flavorful! We paired our desserts with a white and a tawny port. Fabulous dinner and dining experience. I imagine it’s often said: anything BUT ordinary!
Elizabeth A — Google review
Had an okay experience at The Ordinary. I thought most of our food was generally good, but my grouper was overcooked. For close to a $50 entree, I expected flawless. Cool atmosphere and great service, but the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. Definitely time to refresh your furniture!
Mark S — Google review
This place is amazing! Kian, our server, was so attentive and timely during our experience, not to mention Chef De Cousine, Zach Crosby, who came out of the kitchen to introduce himself. They take so much care into what they do. I will be back!
Becca C — Google review
What can I say, if visiting Charleston, put this on the list of NOT to be missed restaurants!!! Interior, Service, Food, Presentations, creativity - excellent and a reason for the James Beard award. Enough said.
Mark A — Google review
I finally returned back to The Ordinary, and it was just as good the second time. A staple is the Fried Oyster Slider, it is a MUST! So much flavor and the oyster is fried perfectly. Beware if you don’t like spice, there was a Jalapeño on it this time. Easy fix to take it off though. We tried the raw bar oysters as well— locations all in SC/NC. I prefer briney oysters, and I would say these were on the milder side. One of the servers actually described one as a “sweet marshy” 😂 For entrees my husband and I shared the MUSTARD CRUSTED BEELINER SNAPPER, and I was wildly surprised I enjoyed the creamed corn that it was with. I honestly chose it with minimal thought— the whole menu looked great. Our friend had the Smoked Bird Island Cup Oysters, and she said it was great. Only complaints were HUGE bites. Maybe avoid that for a first date if he/she takes you here haha. 🅿️Parking: always a struggle, but there is a lot behind the restaurant at the hotel for $$, or you can take a chance with Cannon Street parking. $$ expect to spend minimum of 100$ if you are getting entrees.

Prohibition is a modern American restaurant in Charleston with a Jazz Age theme and creative cocktails. High Wire, the first distillery in downtown Charleston since Prohibition, stands out for its use of southern-grown grains and small-batch experimental spirits. The owners' culinary background emphasizes terroir and agriculture, earning them James Beard Award nominations. The vintage-inspired decor at Prohibition creates a speakeasy atmosphere, offering inventive cocktails and a dim sum dish that reflects Lowcountry flavors.
Best place for brunch so far. Cocktails were delicious, and the food was served quickly and was fantastic. Great food for the money. Server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

We had a great dining experience. , Our server, was very professional and attentive. Since we made an early reservation, we were seated immediately without any wait. The food was tasty and well-prepared. Our waitress was super sweet, got champagne and macaroons to make my daughters birthday special. We had a great time and experience. Thank you

Had Sunday Brunch. Food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was awesome! 1st food: great portions and awesome flavor. They made our granddaughter a very special drink. The band playing played a wide variety of music and made brunch that much better. Haley was our server, super awesome. Thank you to Chris as well for making our experience great!
Gene C — Google review
Old Fashioned has a suave peach twist and the Margarita Fuego was EXCELLENT: Blanco tequila, lime, Cointreau, chipotle, mango, and jalapeno - not too spicy and the mango to help curb the zip. This place is packed. We had to gravitate to the back patio bar. My main qualm was waiting over 10 minutes to order while sitting at the bar. Bachelorette parties standing over my shoulder kept getting the go ahead to order. I was about to leave had I been skipped over one more time. Also, with the name Prohibition I was expecting more 30's speakeasy aesthetics and decor... but it felt more like the stereotypical modern rustic craft cocktail bar. Not worth frequenting if that's your selling point in question. Overall, decent cocktails, some with a minor twist. The place seemed like it sponsored bachelorette parties with the amount of coordinated costumes & celebratory groups in there. Must be a prime spot to go out with your friends, not as much for an intimate outing.
Jake N — Google review
This restaurant has a cool vibe and some rather yummy food. Stopped here for lunch and sat on there back patio which was very nice and chill. Got the deviled eggs, wings, and chopped cheese burger. The eggs were fantastic and highly recommend this. The wings were decent and the chopped cheese had some great flavors. The drink menu was good and had plenty of cool mixed options. The bartender made a nice expresso martini. Service was friendly, but slow, and hectic. We got our entree before our appetizer and the wings came with the check. Overall, id definitely recommend.
Matt G — Google review
The atmosphere was very cool! But the drinks needed a little more. We found them not well balanced and had a hard time finishing them. We would’ve given a second round another chance but our waitress never came back to ask. She was wonderful but the bar needed more people working because the room wasn’t close to full or busy but she was constantly busy with different tasks. So her inattentiveness certainly was not on purpose at all. We felt bad for her. However after waiting for so long we did have to approach the bar and ask for our check. We wondered if we would have liked the second round better. The charcuterie board was truly divine! So for small bites and maybe a simple drink i do recommend it!
Brianna P — Google review
My friends and partner and I went to Prohibition this past Saturday. It was pouring rain so while parking across the street was the most desirable option- it WAS close and convenient. Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted and told that there was only outdoor seating available unless we wanted to wait a little while so we opted for the patio. It was covered so that was good. The reason I gave a 4 star rating is because I thought the manager could have opted to turn on a couple heaters being that it was a bit chilly with it raining and the wind was blowing a bit. Luckily we had jackets so that helped. On to the dining experience- this place has several small plate options which I’m not always crazy about due to portion sizes but the items were ordered were sufficient and we were all able to share with each other. My partner got the tomato bisque soup w/ grilled cheese and while it’s such a simple option- it was perfect and exactly what she needed to warm her up a bit. The soup was creamy and rich and the grilled cheese was crust less and had a good cheese pull. My only complaint would be that the grilled cheese could have been a little bigger. I ordered the brussel sprouts which were great. They were nice and crispy and flavorful. One of my friends ordered the baked oysters- my issue with this dish is that it only came w/ 3 and they weren’t that big- also, I never understood why restaurants don’t do appetizers like that in even numbers. The oysters were cooked perfectly and tasted great and they had a good creaminess from the cheese. The MVP of the night was the bone marrow- I had never had it before and was very hesitant to try it…until I saw it. I tried it and it was amazing! So good in fact that we ordered a 2nd order. The bone marrow was like a rich butter and the meat (I think was brisket?) that topped it was amazing as well- it was sweet and savory. We had 3 old fashioned cocktails and an espresso martini w/ an added shot of baileys which was fantastic! We’ll be back again for sure!

First I must say, the chef is a gem. This kitchen put out a very fine lobster roll, which I enjoyed as an appetizer along with a short pour from the finest Pinot noir from Oregon. Next up, although hesitant at first, I ordered the filet mignon, this by the way was agreed upon by the bartender Trent Major. The filet was served rare with haricot verde’ and awesome potato scalloped. Very well paired with the reasonably priced bottle of Pinot. I would like to add a total recommendation of “100%” for attitude of both Trent, Maria and the entire staff. Life is short spend a little time at this local gem.

Indaco is a popular rustic eatery that offers a modern twist on traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant is renowned for its crispy wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pasta, and delightful cocktails created by their skilled bar manager. Guests can take advantage of the happy hour menu featuring half-priced pizzas and antipasti, as well as other affordable snacks. The dinner menu showcases unique dishes such as fried rabbit with kabocha squash and lamb quarters, providing an adventurous dining experience.
Everything was delicious. We were in town visiting family and we were very grateful that they found a last minute spot for us, but I would definitely recommend making a reservation. By the time we left the place was very full. The pasta was wonderful. My only constructive criticism was that my wife’s Cappelletti pasta (a stuffed pasta sort of like tortellini) felt like a small portion size, especially when compared to the other 2 pasta dishes we ordered which cost about the same. We wound up giving some of our pasta to her because we felt like we had more than enough. But everything was extremely good and we look forward to coming back someday!
Stephen D — Google review
I came here with some girlfriends visiting me in Charleston, and I was honestly impressed! Even though I have passed by this restaurant a handful of times, Indaco wasn't really on my radar. We ordered the Tagliatelle, Peach Pizza, Mushroom Pizza, and the Mafaldine for food. Everything came out perfectly. The pizzas were excellent and a shareable size. However, I wish the pasta entrees were larger to make it easier to share. Our server helped explain to us the differences between pasta dishes and what customers' favorites are. We had a dirty martini and the 'La Paloma' to drink. The restaurant was smaller than expected, but I enjoyed the intimate setting. I would come here again or try their pasta class!

Amazing. Went two nights in a row … we rarely see fantastic bar tender, cocktails, food and atmosphere. This place rocks all three. Bar tender Mattie was amazing at making suggestions for food and drinks. Super friendly without being overbearing. Wine was great for happy hour and I am a wine complainer. Restaurants usually cheap out one wine and serve awful Meimo or Josh… their happy hour red was good! Atmosphere was great. Super hip with fun staff, happy vibe, and not too packed in too tight. Food: Bolognese was best we have ever had. Agnolotti with sweet potatoes is a dish with so much flavor I will be thinking about it for the next year when i got to an Italian restaurant. Potatoes and Brussels were my husbands favorite. But the sweet Potato dish was also something I will wish I could order in atlanta. Every dish here was created with care. Nothing on their menu is bland. Sigh— we can’t go back tomorrow night.

Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants in Charleston. My girlfriend and I love coming here. All the food is amazing highly recommend the pizza and the pasta. Tyler behind the bar is an AWESOME bartender and always makes the perfect cocktails. Highly recommend this dinner spot.

By far the best restaurant we ate at in Charleston. The food was amazing!! I am celiac and almost the entire menu could be made gluten free. Brittany P was the kindest, most helpful server! She made sure I felt safe eating with my restrictions! The gluten free pasta was excellent, as well as the bread and dessert! Can’t say enough positive things about our experience.

Wonderful service by Fawn for our anniversary. Seated in a window we enjoyed a great meal and the King Street view. Especially kind to have a signed anniversary card at our table. Complimentary dessert. Nice wine selection too!
Dave M — Google review
My husband and I had our 5 year anniversary dinner here while visiting Charleston. From the very beginning, the service was wonderful! We checked in with the hostess and seated at our table that had a “happy anniversary” card on there where the individual staff members all wrote their own message. We had Fawn as our waitress for the night and absolutely adored her. I have Celiac Disease and she took great care to ensure no cross contamination with my food. We had the burrata to start and with gluten free flat bread. I decided to get a pizza and the crust was the right amount of soft and crunchiness - not the cardboard feel that is gluten folks hate. Everything was absolutely delicious!! Fawn brought out a glass of prosecco for us to enjoy on the house for our anniversary and as we were leaving gave me a knitted sunflower from a local artist. Our experience here was exceptional and we felt very well taken care of for our night. Can’t wait to come back!
Amanda T — Google review
Excellent Italian and Italian inspired dishes. I had the brussel sprouts pizza and let me tell you, it was awesome. No not a traditional Italian pie but the flavors were uniquely original. The Brussels were more of a garnish and didn't overpower the flavor, which came primarily from the crust and the spiced (not spicy) maple syrup. My wife went more traditional with the cavatelli and it was on point and exactly what you want from Italian cuisine. The waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. The place is a little small so they try to optimize space. It was loud when we got there but by 8:30 it quieted down and was very cozy. They also make an amazing espresso martini which isn't on the menu.

Guests can also indulge in what many consider to be the best burgers in Charleston.
The service was top tier from the moment you walk inside. We ordered the signature cocktails, 434 and I dream of Jeanie, and both were great options. The lobster Mac n cheese was the best side. The collard greens had a different flavor than I’m used it, a little sweeter, but it was good. My husband loved the duck entree and the flavor of the entire dish. The Grouper was also good (slightly overcooked). The flavor of the steak was great. Slightly overcooked on the preferred cook on certain portions. Overall, a wonderful experience.

One of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. As soon as we walk through the door, the owner personally introduces himself and shakes our hands. We came to celebrate our anniversary, and were served complimentary champagne after being seated. Rob, our server, was excellent in explaining menu options and even brought a platter of steaks out to show us all of the cuts. We ordered Caesar salads, she-crab soup, filet, prime rib, creamed corn, and mashed potatoes - everything was excellent! They even treated us to a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary, we chose the banana pudding cheesecake, which was of course delicious. Will definitely be back to celebrate our next milestone!

Soul, Steak & Song: The Legendary Halls Gospel Brunch 🎶🥩🍳 I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, and as a Level 7 Google Local Guide (Top 1.5% globally), I can confidently say: Halls Chophouse is the top restaurant in the US. This was my second day in a row dining here, and today I came for the legendary Sunday Gospel Brunch. From the moment you step inside, the energy is unmatched—live gospel music filling the room, a warm crowd buzzing with joy, and Billy (partner/owner) himself standing at the door, greeting guests with genuine hospitality. That touch alone sets the tone. I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon & eggs—perfectly seared, tender, and rich—paired with their house specialty, a Bloody Beer (think a refreshing twist on a Bloody Mary, perfectly balanced). Even the bread service deserves a shoutout: warm, fresh, and dangerously addictive. The menu is a masterclass in Southern comfort meets prime steakhouse: • She-Crab Soup (a Charleston classic done right) • Crab Cake Eggs Benedict (Creole hollandaise magic) • Southern Sweet Potato Pancakes with maple butter & smoked bacon Every plate that passed my table looked like art, and every note of gospel added soul to the meal. Service: Impeccable. The staff at Halls are polished yet personable—professional enough to anticipate your needs, but friendly enough to make you feel at home. This is what dining should be: food, music, and community woven into one unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a foodie, a tourist, or a local, this is a must-do Charleston ritual. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Food: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Vibe: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 5/5 #BillyEats #BillyDrinks #BarScout #FoodieLife #TopGoogleReviewer #GlobalBites #HallsChophouse #CharlestonEats

Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the owner came over to personally introduce himself and shake our hands — such a warm welcome! We were celebrating a birthday, and they brought out complimentary champagne shortly after we were seated, which was such a nice touch. Our server, Josh, was amazing — he walked us through the menu, answered all our questions, and even brought out a tray of steaks to show us the different cuts. Everything was perfect from start to finish. To top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert for the birthday. We’ll definitely be back to celebrate again!

We were thrilled with every part of our dining experience. We were welcomed with smiles and taken to our table. The staff patiently talked with us about the menu and drink choices, ensuring we made the best decisions for our dinner. The food: ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The fried corn, the fried green tomatoes, the Antarctica sea bass, our amazing homard mac&cheese. Did we mention the first-class selection of beef steaks? We chose a robust Malbec and topped off the meal with a digestif of Chartreuse. We recommend without hesitation this dining experience! Thank you 🙏 Pascal and Andrew

As a fine dining manager and food enthusiast visiting from Houston, I can confidently say Halls Chophouse is a masterclass in hospitality and execution. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted warmly by the staff — and even welcomed personally by one of the co-owners. That level of engagement and presence in the dining room is something truly rare and speaks volumes about the culture they’ve built here. The restaurant was buzzing — packed with guests, filled with live music, and full of energy. Despite the lively ambiance, service remained attentive, polished, and genuine. Our server took the time to present the steak tray and explain each cut in detail — a thoughtful touch that shows pride and professionalism. Attention to detail in allergies and the servers pouring his heart in the service what sold me. I went with the Bison steak, accompanied by a she crab soup and multiple sides, and it was outstanding. Perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and easily one of the best steaks I’ve enjoyed in recent memory. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, I’d suggest requesting a table away from the music — but otherwise, lean into the vibrant atmosphere. Halls Chophouse represents everything a classic American steakhouse should be: warm hospitality, quality ingredients, and flawless execution. I’ll absolutely return whenever I’m in Charleston — this place sets the benchmark.

Reservations necessary. We were there for dinner at 5:30 pm and it was already packed. Owner greeted us at the door, stopped at our table twice and said goodbye as we left. Impressive staff. Our waitress suggested half portions since we had nowhere to store leftovers. Even that amount was filling. I tried 2 local beers. My wife had 2 glasses of wine. We split the filet, baked potato, asparagus and salad.

My husband made a reservation here for our first wedding anniversary during our trip to Charleston! Right when we walked in we were personally greeted by the owner and all of the staff was so welcoming and friendly! Our server, Nicholas, was excellent and walked us through the menu and gave the great recommendation to get the Kansas City strip, which was phenomenal! They even gave us champagne and dessert to celebrate! The best dining experience we have ever had and will definitely make the trip from Atlanta to visit again! Thank you!!

FIG is a downtown restaurant that offers an upscale take on Southern cuisine in a relaxed bistro setting. The menu features seasonal dishes made with high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients. The restaurant's minimalist decor and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere for diners seeking gourmet food without the formality of fine dining.
Fig is a dining experience. The curated menu with the ambiance and attentive service is one of a kind. Our server was knowledgeable about every item on the menu and recommendations on what paired well together, and depending on if you were looking for savory, or fresh, or light he knew it all. The service was immaculate with utensils being changed out every course, water being filled without being asked, and never being reached across. The oysters with the curry butter were perfectly paired. The oysters just slightly cooked, probably with just the hot butter, without any chew or rubberiness often times an overcooked oyster has. The tartare was extremely tender and the perfect temp, did wish for a little more salt on mustard mixed in. The ricotta stuffed gnocchi with the lamb meat sauce was super tender and not gamey. The bouillabaisse is an absolute must with flaky tender fish, and vibrant shrimp. Flavors were unmatched. The Sorghum pudding is the perfect dessert, and their latte was deep with flavor. While on the slightly pricier side for Charleston, this was an experience altogether and not just a simple get your food and get out. Must try.

The clientele is a little stiff. But everything was wonderful. Food is clean, fresh, very well prepared. Plating is simple. All high quality. Chase our waiter was patience and so kind. Drinks are good.

FIG is the perfect spot in Charleston to go for a special occasion. Everything is made to perfection and the service is 10/10. This is one of the few menus where we are open to trying absolutely anything because we know it will be amazing. We had Alex as our server and he added to the experience, being able to perfectly describe complex flavors of the dishes and really paint a picture to how the dishes were made. It is pricey but very worth it. Make sure to get a reservation EARLY though because they sellout quick for weekends.

As always FIG was an amazing experience from the service to the food. We decided to do a dinner of appetizer and were incredibly happy. The chicken liver pâté was fatty, silky and delicious. The pickles shrimp paired very well with the local vegetables. The tomato tart was the highlight. They only have it when tomatoes as in season but if it’s on the menu it’s a must have. We finished with our pasta course of blue crab ravioli and gnocchi. Both were delicious and my wife and I fought over which one we liked more. I was a fan of the blue crab because of the distinctive blue crab taste and sweetness. My wife loved the pillowy gnocchi. You can’t go wrong with either one of these dishes.

Long time Charleston visitor from Orlando. the hospitality is noticeable. As a consistent Party of One, I often feel rushed in restaurants. They didn’t rush me at all! I felt at home. Also, I absolutely hate when restaurants take away the other serving after I’ve sat down. It makes me feel low key loser-esque as I always dine solo. Like my food mate decided not to show up. Other patrons see that and it’s not a good look. Not FIG. The setting for one was already there and I enjoyed that feeling. Again. Hospitality and paying attention to the reservation goes a long way. Very charming eatery

Reservations fill up FAST, and rightly so! I’ve been here twice now and it’s a must go if you’re in Charleston. My recent visit was as good as the first. Our party of four had reservations for 715p on a Friday night. We were seated right away and service was prompt to arrive. We started with a bottle of I Vigneri Nerello Mascalese, which ended up pairing well with the dishes we selected. We ordered multiple small plates to share. - Beef Tartare + Maxim Potato, Vine Ripe Tomato Tarte Tatin, and the Ricotta Gnocchi + Lamb Bolognese. While each of these was delicious, the gnocchi was definitely the stand out. Moving to entrées, we ordered the Brioche Crusted Flounder and the Pork Schnitzel. We also added the Yukon Gold Potato Purée. Everything was seasoned well and flavorful. For dessert we ordered the Sticky Sorghum Pudding and Olive Oil and Pistachio Cake. I have had traditional sticky toffee pudding many, many times, but their version with sorghum in it, brings it to a whole new level. This is quite possibly the best dessert I’ve ever had! From apps to entrees to dessert, everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was attentive. I will continue to visit Fig whenever I get the chance.

I was visiting a friend in Charleston and we couldn't get a reservation but like always the notify me function from Resy helped us out. 8pm on a Wednesday. The place was full but the waitstaff was attentive. We had the oysters, beef tartare, tomato tarte, and ravioli to share. Then, the schnitzel and flounder for main course. Would love to come back again.

We visited Charleston for a short weekend getaway. We dined at FIG to celebrate our friend's birthday and it was AMAZING in every way. The food was absolutely delicious and unique. We ordered several appetizers as well as our entrees and dessert. Each dish was fantastic!! Cocktails and wine were great also. The service was superior as well. Our waitress was attentive and thoughtful with her recommendations and wine pairings. I highly recommend dining at FIG....you will not be disappointed. This may have been the best food I have ever had in a restaurant setting.

Charleston Grill, located within the grand Charleston Place Hotel, offers an opulent dining experience featuring upscale Southern-French cuisine and wine pairings. The restaurant has become a destination in its own right, known for its live jazz performances that resonate acoustically within the wood-paneled walls. The menu perfectly complements the elegant decor and live music, offering dishes like Octopus Salad, Braised Pork Shank, and a personalized 6-course tasting menu by Chef Michelle Weaver.
We had a business dinner there for 12 people. Julia was fantastic to coordinate everything with ahead of time. We had a special set menu for the evening that covered the bases so everyone would have something they enjoyed. Everything from the bread service to the delectable main course and after dinner drinks was impeccable. Some of the best service I've received at a fine dining establishment. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

This was an outstanding experience! We enjoyed the 6 course tasting with the wine pairing and it was truly an educational experience. They gave an in depth history of the food and the wine with each course and answered any of our questions with grace. If you’re a foodie, this is a must. We celebrated our birthday and anniversary and really enjoyed the service as well- true service in a restaurant is a lost art but the staff here are genuinely happy to serve you and treat you like royalty. The atmosphere is romantic, comfortable and fun with the live jazz. This is such a treasure of Charleston.

I cannot recommend the Charleston Grill enough. My partner and I are vegetarian. Seeing that the menu already offered a few items that would work for us, I reached out by email a few weeks in advance asking if the kitchen could accommodate an extra off-menu main and appetizer. Just the next day, I was contacted by Lizzie, who was fantastic to work with; our preferences were noted enthusiastically. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess and Lizzie, who came out to welcome us, and shown to a beautiful table. Over the course of the next few hours, we were served by multiple people who all took the time to assure us our preferences had been prepared for and had the pleasure of having many delicious dishes both on and off-menu. The food was of course very good. And the kitchen team was kind enough to put together enough vegetarian items for us to be able to have a fully veg tasting menu each, if we wanted to opt for that. We went with two apps and mains to share among ourselves, and I was especially fond of an off-menu stuffed summer tomato served in the bakeware it was cooked in. Multiple dishes included a table side finish, which was fun to watch. The single best part of the evening was the service. We must have interacted with a half dozen people, and every single person was excited to have us there and created an atmosphere that made us want to keep ordering more and stay as long as we could. We were impressed by our waiters’ eagerness to join us in putting vegetables at the center of our meal for the night. The aforementioned stuffed tomato, for example, was brought to the table and introduced with the same flair as an aged ribeye, and we were checked on multiple times to see if we were enjoying the off-menu creations. Other highlights included a man with a warm bread basket giving us the slightest wink and side eye when we declined extra bread (we had to take more after that) and the many conversations with each person who came by our table. Overall, everyone was warm, knowledgeable, and damn good at their job. As a student, opportunities to go someplace this nice are infrequent; furthermore, fine dining can be a challenging experience as a vegetarian. But, when celebrating an occasion with your partner, one must deliver. Overall, I’m proud that the place I saved up, planned, and drove for was this one. These two young herbivores will be looking for reasons to go back to the Grill soon. Give this place your business.

The perfect restaurant. The food, service, and ambiance are incredible here. The Waygu tenderloin was the best steak I’ve ever had. The crab cake and carrot cake were also amazing. Our servers, Drew and Jennifer, were helpful, friendly, and engaging. They were awesome. The restaurant has such a comfortable, peaceful vibe to it. We loved the live music too. I have been to just about every fine dining restaurant in Charleston and the Charleston Grill is now my favorite.

Superb dinner, wine paring and service. Went here for our 5 year anniversary and it was fantastic. Went with the prix fixe menu with 2nd tier wine pairing. Was blown away by both. Highly recommend the Charleston Grill. Service was excellent as two servers are assigned to each table. Somm brought of slew of great and interesting wines. Dishes were divine.

Excellent dinner! Foie gras with strawberry sauce was outstanding. The crabcakes were very flavorful. The main entre of Venison was very good, with interesting sides, even though I would have enjoyed a few more pieces of vegetables. I had a small tasting of the fish entre and I liked the crisp on the fish preparation. The service was friendly and helpful, we felt very welcomed.

Excellent staff and service that comes together to present a wonderful dining experience. We celebrated my birthday Saturday night and this was one of the best dining experiences my wife and I ever had. With so many tempting food options, my wife and I decided to do the chef’s tasing menu with the bucket list wine pairings. This went well beyond just having a meal and truly was a culinary experience. Educational, fun, and decadent, we enjoyed course after course and had wines we normally would only dream of. I strongly recommend for anyone who wants to really broaden their dining experience. Thank you for an amazing evening!

The Darling Oyster Bar, located on King Street, is a stylish and trendy restaurant with a vintage appeal. The dining room has a gorgeous vintage-style design and features a lively raw bar that offers an array of creative seafood dishes and raw oysters from across the Eastern Seaboard. The menu includes popular seafood dishes like hand-cut French fries topped with house-made clam chowder. The restaurant also offers local beers and sparkling wines to accompany the briny bivalves.
So simple but so much better than simple. Shrimp cocktail with perfect seasoning. The lobster roll was full of large chunks of seasoned meat. The crab cakes were literally the best I’ve had in a really long time. Don’t sleep on the hush puppies and the sorghum butter. Service was on par with other high end restaurants without feeling fancy. Simple but perfect.

The Darling Oyster Bar had such amazing food! It was my first time trying raw oysters, and they were so good! It's really worth trying to stop in during their happy hour to get the discounted oysters. I got their fry basket with fried shrimp and fried oysters. The shrimp was fried differently from what I've had before, and it was amazing! We also got the crab dip to start, and it was good as well. They had a Mexican style cheesecake as one of their desserts. It was so good and had a lot of citrus on it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because our server was not very attentive. She rarely came to check on us, while the other servers were attentive to their tables. Everything else was amazing, and we had such a great time!

Slid in at happy hour and took a spot at the bar. Quick and friendly service for oysters, crab dip, and a green salad. James River VA oysters happy hour priced for just $1 ea. plus a nice mix of regional oysters. The crab dip is a must. The salad had a nice dressing with crispy bread crumbs mixed throughout. Carrots, radishes, cucumbers sliced thin so they add to, not overwhelm. My Negroni was quite possibly the best I've had, and my wife enjoyed the Pear 75.

Not just oysters, but a good and interesting full menu. Thoroughly enjoyed eating here. The food was great, The oysters of course were delicious, the service delightful and I even found a beer that I liked (not just overpowered IPAs or tasteless thin lagers!!) Would definitely dine here again.

The rooftop bar provides an unparalleled 360-degree view of historic Charleston, making it the perfect spot to enjoy artisan wines, signature cocktails, and a variety of beers.
Where do I begin? To start off, this is a beautiful place from the outside to the inside. The food was extremely good and our server Dakota was even better. He was very knowledgeable and attentive and I couldn’t ask for anyone better. To top it off the nice lady unlocked the rooftop for us and allowed us to do a walk through of both the second and top floor. I highly recommend this place to anyone and my boyfriend and I will for sure be back ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The vibes are perfect. We strolled in with our infant for an early dinner and had the place almost to ourselves. Our server was friendly and helpful, which we needed after the car trip with a fussy babe. The burger was one of the best we’ve ever had, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Fries were hot, crispy and abundant. My burratta salad was a delicious spin on a classic with blood oranges and blackberries.

Was a bit disappointed with the food. Half of the duck breast was cooked perfectly and the other half was raw. When we mentioned it to the waiter he even mentioned that he noticed (then why did you serve it to us!). He spoke to the manager who did give us a discount but never came over to apologize or check on us. The grilled asparagus was delicious as were the truffle hash browns. The gouda Mac and cheese was good enough (nothing special, especially for the price and size). The shrimp and grits ate well separately but not as a composed dish. The tomato jam was way too sweet and felt like marinara sauce. The grits and shrimp separately were very good. But when I tried to put it all together it was way out of balance. All in all the food was good but not great and not worth the price. The service was ok but could have been so much better. Left disappointed.

We came here today for Mother's Day brunch, though they have this brunch every Saturday and Sunday! Great food, service, and atmosphere. Great value as well. Highly recommend the omlette station. The prime rib and lamb were excellent, and my wife enjoyed the bloody Mary bar. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and kids. Fresh fruit, cheeses, bagels, pastries and salad. We'll be back!

Just had Brunch there today and went with the breakfast buffet. Was it a bit expensive…yes. Was it 100% worth it…absolutely! Delicious and flavorful from beginning to end. Very nice atmosphere with stellar service. Top line early afternoon Bloody Mary. Brunch for 2, best to walk to this location as parking is always a challenge, great location with many interesting and unique shops, coffee bars etc. The atmosphere is definitely adult oriented so bringing young children would not be recommended. This is a place for adult dining

Great place for a great dinner would definitely go again. Atmosphere: Really well done. The lights are stunning, and the entire place was simply done beautifully. They really tried to pay attention to details, including hooks for handbags under the bar which is hardly ever a thought! Really nice touch. Food: absolutely wonderful overall. The steak was beautifully cooked over the open flame which you can see. I spoke to the chef about it because I could taste the smoke and it was such a nice robust flavor profile. I added on the risotto, and while as a risotto it was missing the creamy texture and fullness, as a buttery rice my mouth and belly were still so happy. The fries are made in house and are absolutely fantastic. Don't skip out on those - I don't find a ton of fries that I really truly enjoy, these I did. While the salad was not enjoyed by who ordered it, the mussels were simply fantastic, and the sauce was absolutely raved about. Just a touch of heat to warm the pallette but not overwhelm. The manager made our drinks, and while they did not have fresh mint for a mojito, she made a cucumber cocktail that, while not a number one choice for me, was refreshing and light. I could have settled on it and drank it, but she brought me a disarono on the rocks type of drink that was served with a dark cherry of sorts and was really quite nice. The chocolate cake with nuts was a decadent choice and a true treat to eat. The staff was very kind, informative and helpful for our experience. The girl at front was new, her first day as luck would have it, and she did great too. The chef had no problem talking a bit and was quite charming. You can tell he is proud if his work. Something I don't mention often - bathrooms: the bathrooms here were done nice as well and were private and classy. Not a disaster as so many are. I appreciated the full doors.

The Restaurant at Zero George is an upscale eatery located in a quaint and intimate hotel setting. The hotel features 16 rooms and suites nestled in historic residences with lush gardens, offering a clean contemporary style and friendly Southern hospitality. Guests can enjoy complimentary wine and cheese on the porch each evening, as well as a continental breakfast featuring biscuits from Callie's Hot Little Biscuit.
My wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary at The Restaurant at Zero George, and it was truly a magical evening. From the moment we arrived, the setting felt intimate and special, the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to savor every detail of the experience. Our server, Ray, was outstanding—professional, attentive, and warm. He guided us seamlessly through the evening, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness without ever being intrusive. His thoughtful service elevated the experience and made us feel genuinely celebrated on our special night. The tasting menu itself was a work of art. Each course was beautifully presented and showcased an incredible blend of flavors, textures, and creativity. It was clear that every dish required an exceptional level of skill and precision. We were also touched that the chef provided us with a signed copy of the evening’s menu—such a thoughtful detail that added to the magic of the night. We are deeply grateful to the chef and his team for giving us the opportunity to experience their culinary artistry. Zero George is more than dinner—it is an unforgettable journey of food and hospitality.

If this restaurant doesn't get a Michelin star next week, I will be surprised and disappointed. The experience was fantastic despite my high expectations. Staff was engaging and welcoming. Servers were very helpful with descriptions and suggestions. And the Sommelier was knowledgeable. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu with elevated wine pairings. It was not a meal, but a pleasant journey. And contrary to the typical Michelin 4 hour dinner, the pace here at Zero was perfect, approx 2 hrs. Our table room was quiet and easy to converse. I would have liked something printed to take with me describing food/wine we enjoyed.

We returned to Zero George to celebrate my mother’s birthday, and once again, the team delivered an extraordinary experience. From the inventive fall cocktail menu (the shiitake martini is genius!) to the thoughtful attention paid by the staff to my octogenarian mother, every detail felt curated and intentional. The meal began with a series of stunning small bites — true edible art — and continued with beautifully composed courses. The wagyu cigar remains one of the most delightful amuse-bouches in the Southeast, and the red shrimp dish was a masterclass in unexpected flavor pairings. The halibut with persimmon was perfectly cooked, and the wagyu sirloin with porcini and chestnut was bold and decadent. My only regret was not adding on the A5 wagyu, as my son is still talking about it from our last visit! Desserts were just as creative, with the shortcake and its balsamic center standing out as a highlight. The service was as gracious as the food was exquisite, and the entire evening left my mother reminiscing about fine meals past — from Cyprus to Seoul to Barcelona. That’s the caliber of experience Zero George delivers. An absolute gem. We already can’t wait to return.

We did the cooking demonstration at Zero George and had a wonderful experience. Chef Vinson Petrillo is clearly passionate about food and creating an experience for guests. We really enjoyed watching his craft and most importantly the food was delicious. My only critique is that the portions were small and there were not 'wine pairings' you were just handed a bottle of wine. Other than that one very small critique we cannot wait to return to try the full course tasting menu at Zero George.

The ambiance is superb and my dinner was one of the best meals I have had. Sophisticated and chic with elegance of historical Charleston as the backdrop. The night I went was a set menu with drinks or mock tails. Believe me the mock tails were in some cases better than the set alcohol drinks. The executive chef is a master of his craft & I wish I lived closer so I could experience the food more often.

Definitely five star restaurant. Food is so good and service so attentive. It was rainy night, we had great time. Fixed menu, $145 each person, my ten year old daughter enjoyed it. She ordered herself caviar, it was good.

Seafood restaurant
Delaney Oyster House is a charming seafood restaurant and raw bar located in a historic house in Charleston. Chef Shamil Velazquez, originally from Puerto Rico, skillfully combines island flavors with fresh seafood from Lowcountry waters. The restaurant offers a cozy and special dining experience, serving oysters with a Lowcountry twist and featuring a full raw bar for lunch and dinner.
We made the right choice celebrating our anniversary here tonight! Greeted by a beautiful Charleston style house, we felt welcomed as soon as we arrived, we were seated in a (perfect temperature) dining room of our own at a cozy table with a personalized touch of a "Happy Anniversary" card. Our server was attentive and helpful without being too much or too absent, he was really pleasant, we requested 6 different options to be brought out however he chose. We started with the waygu beef tartare followed by the spicy tuna tartare, while the waygu was good, that spicy tuna was absolutely perfect, best I've ever had! Next we enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts and the spicy shrimp ajillo, both were very delicious! Lastly we had the NB scallops that were cooked perfectly and the waygu bavette steak that was tender and flavorful. Overall, this was just such an enjoyable and tasty experience, highly recommend to anyone!

Exceptional Cocktails and Fresh Oysters at Delaney Oyster House We had dinner at Delaney Oyster House with a party of four and a reservation. We were seated promptly upstairs on the outdoor piazza, which offered a lovely and charming atmosphere. It was a bit warm given the time of day, but still a pleasant spot to enjoy the meal and the Charleston vibe. The oysters were excellent, fresh, briny, and perfectly prepared. One of our entrées, the crispy fish platter, was good, but the real highlight of the evening was the cocktails. The bartender clearly had real talent. We ordered the espresso martinis called “The Famous” and they were truly the best any of us have ever had. Delaney Oyster House delivers a refined yet relaxed dining experience with standout seafood and an exceptional cocktail program. Definitely worth a visit especially if you enjoy great drinks and fresh oysters in a classic Charleston setting.

The food has such a beautiful femininity to it. It tastes like history and depth, and the complexity of balanced hard work. Breathtaking takes on traditional southern flavors. Amazing service! The waiter was so knowledgeable on each plate and he seemed to be inspired by the food as well. Cohesion, sophistication, beauty. 10/10 will return

We took advantage of outdoor dining season in Charleston with dinner on the piazza before the Symphony. If tomatoes are in season, definitely get the tomato & buratta salad - scrumptious! The blue crab rice was delicious, as were the added scallops. It was a perfect evening

Had an amazing dinner at Delaney Oyster House! The service was top-notch—everyone was super friendly, welcoming, and really knowledgeable about the menu, which made the whole experience even better. We started with oysters, and they were incredibly fresh and well-shucked. I also tried the new celery & pear soup and was blown away. It had a perfectly balanced, creamy texture with a soft aroma and the gentle sweetness of pear that made this seasonal dish truly unique. The lobster roll was not only delicious, but it had way bigger chunks of lobster than other places I’ve been to locally. You could really taste the quality and freshness. Overall, great atmosphere, excellent service, and standout dishes. Can’t wait to come back!

I came here again for our anniversary because I loved it when I visited two years ago. Some items on the menu have changed, but the food is still just as delicious and unique. The oyster and sauce combinations were amazing, and the crab fried rice was absolutely the best👍
CC_sibling C — Google review
Fresh, Flavorful, and Indulgent The crab rice was packed with flavor — tender crab woven through aromatic sofrito and perfectly cooked rice. The spicy shrimp was incredibly fresh, with just the right kick. And the cheddar bay hush puppies? Absolute indulgence — crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and dripping with chive-studded, caramelized onion butter. A must-visit for anyone who loves seafood
Michael Y — Google review
The oysters were top notch! The caprese style oyster with balsamic pearls was dynamite. The ahi tuna poke was better than the octopus. The fresh fish was amazing and super fresh with the peas and beans. Gonna spend some money, but service and location are worth the experience. Drop the loot and enjoy a memorable meal. Also don't sleep on the kids grilled cheese...

Maison is a stylish French bistro located in Charleston, offering innovative and artful French cuisine. The menu features familiar favorites with a creative twist, such as salmon rillette with lemon and roasted chicken with macaroni farci. Housed in an unassuming building on King Street, the interior boasts Parisian-style bistro chairs, a pewter-topped bar, and elegant black and white decor.
Wow, what a hidden gem of a restaurant. My compliments to the chef and the incredible staff for outstanding service. Maison can be really difficult to get into but it's absolutely worth the wait. The scallops were perfectly prepared and the presentation was outstanding. If you enjoy rabbit the pot pie is out of this world.

Wish I could leave 10 stars! One of the best restaurants in Charleston and extremely underrated. The attention to detail here is really on par with restaurants that charge twice as much. If you appreciate perfectly seasoned food and amazing sauce work this place is for you. The escargot with ramp butter was amazing as was the onion soup croquette. Entrees were stellar I got the monkfish almondine and my wife got the flounder both perfectly cooked with the right balance of richness acidity herbs and salt in the sauces. Our server Allison was great with her recommendations. She was always there when we needed her but never hovering. I’m not a dessert person but the creme caramel was exceptional. Think like the best flan you’ve ever had with a light espresso flavor. Also if you have any appreciation of good French fries do yourself a favor and get a side of the clarified butter pommes frites. We definitely will be back sooner rather than later!
Tyler E — Google review
This is a relatively new restaurant in the upper King St area that has become a hub for some of the more unique charleston dining experiences. Surrounded by such stalwarts as Little Jacks, Leon’s and Melfi’s, Maison fits in perfectly. This is a perfectly French bistro with a traditional bistro menu, good wine list and decent beer selection. Plenty of seating at the long bar, booths or small tables with limited additional small table seating on the patio. Decor leans toward ice cream parlor modern but lighting is good and noise levels are moderate enough for conversation. Service was very good and the dishes we sampled were all very good as well. The steak frites and flounder were both exceptional. The mousse was a perfect desert. Parking can be a bit of a challenge since the parking lot is shared by a number of neighboring businesses but there is on street parking nearby. Overall, this is a very good restaurant and we give it four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale ( five Google star equivalent).

What a wonderful place to celebrate! We dined at Maison the night after getting engaged because it was the location of our 2nd date and they delivered again! Great food-a phenomenal lobster special, good drinks and a terrific way to celebrate!

Lovely quaint new French cuisine. Light fare, and fresh ingredients. They do not over salt their food, the menu is clever, but uses traditional concepts. Very French wine list, so the wines are lighter than American wines. Understated and unpretentious. Service absolutely exquisite. Nice people !
Angelique S — Google review
Have been to Maison a couple of times now over the past few years and each time I am very impressed with the dishes. There is clearly a high level of skill and technique in their kitchen. Only have photos from my last visit which was the burger and fries, but I feel like those items exemplify what Maison does really well. You can breakdown every element and thought and care has gone in from the clarified butter that gives a subtle buttery taste to the Bordelaise sauce that is poured over a bun that can withstand it without getting soggy. Other standout dishes were a mushroom tart that I still think about and a pea dish that changed my mind on peas. This place gives good examples of modern French dishes past what is normally available at most French restaurants in the US. Also, shoutout to their bartender that gave me a cocktail spec that was a riff on the Last Word that was awesome (1:1:1:1 Bourbon, Yellow Chartreuse, Benedictine, Lemon).

We came here for a birthday celebration during our family reunion trip. The customer service was excellent, and the food was pretty tasty! The steak frites was well seasoned, the duck confit was exquisite, the roasted chicken with mushrooms was flavorful, and the monkfish was delicious. On another note, the desserts were amazing! The chocolate mousse was light and creamy, while the madeleines were the perfect texture and flavor. We highly recommend trying the two together. It was our last dinner in Charleston, and it was a great way to end trip. We can’t wait to come back the next time we’re in town!

Spanish restaurant
Estadio is a vibrant Spanish-style tapas restaurant located in the trendy Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood of Charleston. The intimate and casual atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Spain, making it a great spot for meeting friends or a romantic date night. The menu features Spanish-inspired specialties such as local shrimp, crudo, and an Iberian twist on pigs in a blanket that comes highly recommended.
Times here: 6+ I'm a huge fan of Estadio. This cozy Spring Street gem has been serving up killer Spanish-inspired drinks and uniquely tasty bites for some time, and I've been remiss in not reviewing it till now. Briefly, you get Spanish fare in a small / large plate format, with a heavy emphasis on anchovies, olives, piquant peppers, pork and general texture mastery. For drinks, think effervescent cocktails, heavy on gin & citrus, plus vermouth, sherry, sangria and a bevy of bright, affordable, crushable wines. Oh yeah, the Estadio bar also rocks a strong porron game. (A porron is a mystical shortcut to elevate or end your night, depending on your constitution.) While the dishes rotate fairly quickly, some of my stalwart favorites include the savory olive-black anchovy-pepper Gildas skewers, the piping hot and addictive pigs in a blanket, and the sublime brick chicken, which is my favorite chicken dish in Charleston, and that's saying something. It's a gem of a restaurant that deserves your support - but if you don't take my word for it, visit Estadio and check it out for yourself. The happy hour is strong, the bar service excellent (shoutout to Grayson here) and the vibes convival, interesting, and casual. Expect to spend about about $50+ per person if you're drinking booze. Parking can be tricky, but you're on foot or have a driver, right? Right. Carry on.

My wife and I visited Estadio on Saturday to make sure that we took advantage of the Aswang Noodle Club pop-up and for an early 19th Anniversary celebration. DELICIOUS! Started with the roasted oysters and the gyoza pork dumplings. The oysters were so juicy and tasty and the tarragon really added a nice flavor. The dumplings....stuffed with pork. So much rich flavor there with the chili oil without being "heavy". The chef recommended trying some off-menu raw oysters - Ocean Kiss from Bath, Maine served with a little minced shallot and maybe a drop or 2 of rice vinegar (I think). So tasty!! The mushroom lettuce wraps could be a meal itself. A variety of seared mushrooms mixed with spices, garlic and roasted red onion wrapped in lettuce with cilantro, a smoky red sauce, sticky white rice, and seaweed. I know - sounds overwhelming but so very tasty. My wife is not a huge Ramen fan but we shared the bowl of Shio Kaisen which hit the spot! While stuffed, the bartender talked us into trying the Matcha cheesecake paired with a sweet Sherry. This is not your average cheesecake - less creamy and more of a cake texture. It was moist and delicious and the citrus marmalade drizzle was amazing. I can't really describe the flavors that you get with each bite of these dishes, but "eyes rolling back in my head" comes close. GREAT NEWS is that the pop-up will be there for another week. So worth trying!! Never tried a good Vermouth? Both of the red options are very tasty!!

Awesome atmosphere, food and prompt service. Manchego cheese and Serrano ham with pigs in blanket to start, BBQ ribs and Flank steak were on point. Finish with the chocolate churros. Thank you Estadio team!

I had a great time in this place. Food was incredible. I was hungry and ordered the steak that was awesome, tender, soft and juicy. I had also scallops and the sauce was magnificent, crunchy by the almonds and a little bitter that balances the whole flavor. Churros are a must! They are not like the typical churros. Just try them

What a great little tapas bar! The warm decor was definitely evocative of Spain and every dish I tried was delectable! The shrimp were some of the best I've ever had and they also have a great cocktail menu. I recommend the milk punch, especially with the gildas. Poogan's Porch is a renowned restaurant in Charleston, housed in a beautifully restored Victorian townhouse. It offers traditional Southern cuisine and an elegant dining experience. The menu features authentic lowcountry dishes for brunch, lunch, and dinner, including She-Crab Soup, Pimento Cheese Fritters, Shellfish and Grits, Wild Caught Roasted Catfish, and Sweet Tea Glazed Salmon.
We had an incredible dining experience at Poogan’s Porch in Charleston, deserving of a full five stars! This charming restaurant exudes Southern hospitality, and even though we didn’t make a reservation, the wait was absolutely worth it (though I’d recommend booking ahead for convenience). The low country corned beef hash was absolutely yummy, bursting with flavor, and my wife couldn’t stop raving about the chicken sandwich—she loved it! The pimento cheese fritters were a unique and delicious surprise, perfectly showcasing the creative Southern cuisine. We were seated upstairs in a quaint, cozy room that added to the warm ambiance. The service was outstanding, with attentive and friendly staff making the meal even more enjoyable. Poogan’s Porch is a must-visit for anyone in Charleston—can’t wait to come back!

I went here with my boyfriend for an early dinner. The biscuits were nice, hot, and fresh. We had fried green tomatoes, she-crab soup, and crab cakes for an appetizer. Our entrees were the sweet-tea lacquered salmon and catch of the day, which was red snapper over rice and gumbo. I found the food to just be okay and bland at times, not what I was looking for so I don’t see myself coming back.

This is my Absolutely favorite restaurant in Charleston! The fried chicken with the hothoney was mind blowing. Everything is out of this world! Best hushpuppies I've ever had. Pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam is unreal! Still thinking about the lavender martini.
Brett J — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with a great brunch menu as well as spooky history. We had a few starters to share and then several brunch items. All were delicious and southern. Fried green tomatoes, great, simple preparation done well is always a hit. Pimento cheese fritters were rich and yummy but very heavy, sharing is a good option for this item. Grits were cooked and seasoned well which for me is a real plus because so often I think they are under seasoned. Biscuits as good as they get, light and flaky. I think these were delicious. Unfortunately we were with a really large group so I didn’t get many photos. Are there other restaurants that serve food just as good, Im sure there are, but for me I enjoyed the entire experience of this restaurant. Note, bloody Mary’s are very spicy, if you like spice, which I do I would, definitely order. Also mimosa carafe is a nice option and the mimosas were very light in color, meaning the ratio of juice to champagne was great. Will definitely return.

Seems like a popular lunch spot! We were lucky to be sat without reservations (fairly large place with in and outdoor spaces). We did lunch a round 1:00ish on a Thursday. We got the pimento cheese fritters and the award winning shrimp & grits (that was reportedly featured in USA Today)- and boy we’re both so good! The shrimp and grits were not fishy at all- the gravy was perfect. The pimento cheese fritters comes with a delicious bacon jam. They gave complimentary biscuits that we couldn’t eat because we were so stuffed. Other popular dishes (per our waitress) are the chicken and waffles, chicken sandwiches. Would recommend!

Came here with my mom and sister for brunch. We were impressed! The restaurant is so cute, service attentive but not annoying, and food was delicious! We ordered the biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, and pimento cheese fritters. The portion sizes were generous and it was perfect to share!

We chose to sit in the porch (even made reservations for that scenic view), but porch is a little narrow. June in Charleston is hot! The a/c and inside atmosphere would be good. The food was not bad, but for what we paid - we would have expected better. The trout was good, but did not like the green goddess that was on top. Shrimp and grits - Tasso ham was good, but overall other local restaurants make better. Old Fashion was really good. Margarita leas lacking.

Fine dining restaurant
Magnolias, a Charleston classic since 1990, offers a refined twist on traditional Southern cuisine in an elegant setting. The restaurant is beloved by locals for its top-notch lowcountry dishes and attentive service. Seafood takes the spotlight on the menu with authentic options like Lowcountry Bouillabaisse and Spicy Shrimp over grits. Whether it's lunch, Sunday brunch, or dinner, Magnolias delivers southern soul food with a fine-dining experience and tasteful presentation.
Tonight's dinner was @magnoliaschs in the French Quarter of Charleston! I decided to go out and splurge a little. 😂 It is a Lowcountry upscale kitchen. Drink: Grand Fashioned Elijah Craig bourbon, Grand Marnier, orange peel, Angostura bitters, Luxurious cherry App: Down South Egg Roll collard greens, chicken, tasso ham, red pepper purée, spicy mustard, peach chutney Entree: Bourbon BBQ Glazed Pork Chop mac & cheese, collard greens, jalapeño cornbread, honey butter This place was pretty amazing! The drink was exactly what I was looking for. Good flavor and straight to the point. The egg roll tasted so good. You could taste all the individual components in it. The sauces were really complimentary to it. It's really crispy! The pork chop was hands down the best I have ever had. Seasoned perfectly, juicy, and cooked to the perfect medium well. The sauce was nice and sticky. The collards had the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy. The cornbread was nice as well. I have no complaints whatsoever. When the waitress came over to ask me how I thought the egg roll was, I dropped it by accident and made a mess. 😂 The atmosphere was amazing. It had a country, old time, and upscale feel. White tablecloths. I REALLY wish I liked seafood.
Jeff — Google review
Southern restaurant with delicious food. The fried green tomato appetizer had a super crisp outside, the tomato itself still had a bite to it and the chutney relish was tangy and delicious. Deviled eggs also very good, hard to go wrong with a deviled egg but this one was very good. The bread service is homemade bread and was warm and crispy, yumm. For mains we had the special fried catfish another hit. Batter was crunchy and the fish was tender and perfectly cooked. , red rice was great and green beans were crisp and brought some freshness to an otherwise heavy dish. The bacon was unnecessary for me as I liked the freshness of the beans and didn’t need that addition. The other main we tried was the blackened catfish. A very different preparation than the special, lightly battered and a little thicker cut. Fish was perfectly cooked and went well with the accompaniments. Every bite we had was great. There were so many other items on the menu we wanted to try we will definitely be back. They have two seating areas, the main area in the front with the bar and a second dining room in the back. Unfortunately we were seated in the back dining room which is banquet hallish. If you can, try to sit in the front room, it has charm and windows and is much more inviting.

Went here on my Birthday weekend and it was great! Prompt service, fresh seafood, and a pleasing ambiance! I had the Blue Crab Bisque and the Lowcountry Bouillabaisse. Both were exceptional and the Firefly Arnold Palmer was delicious. It is a little pricey but I would definitely recommend this to anyone going here that wants a romantic or upscale dining experience. I did make reservations so I'm not sure what walk-in availability is like.

My wife and I drove to Charleston to see family and Magnolias was on our list of restaurants to try. I'm glad we did, the food alone was worth the trip. My wife had the buttermilk fried chicken and i had the bourbon BBQ pork chop. The service great and I have ZERO complaints about our experience.

While visiting this week we decided we needed a little southern cooking in our lives. We didn’t have a reservation when we popped in. While there were plenty of tables open (they could’ve been waiting on reservations) we were only offered seating at the bar. Many of the tables remained open while we were there. Reese, our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Service was slow. The fried green tomatoes were amazing! So crispy and flavorful. My friend raved about the fried chicken sandwich. While leaving, the hostess offered someone walking in off the street (without a reservation) a table or the bar. I found that curious.
Gina H — Google review
The Fried Green Tomatoes app is practically an entree in itself... white cheddar & caramelized onion grits, country ham, tomato chutney, tomato butter MY OH MY these are the best FGT that I have ever had! You must try them, so much flavor! For my main course the Parmesan Crusted Market Catch was flounder with creek shrimp & jasmine rice pirloo, warm asparagus, sweet corn & tomato salad, citrus beurre blanc and boy was it spectacular! The Spicy Shrimp & Sausage with tasso gravy, creamy white grits was just as amazing.

The food was fantastic. I started with the crab bisque which was excellent and my wife had the watermelon salad (a special) which she said was the best salad she has ever had in her life. I ordered the shrimp and grits which actually had too much black pepper for MY taste but my wife tasted it and loved it. My wife ordered the seafood bouillabaisse which was very very good packed with flavor and tons of different fish and other seafood. We finished with the Red Velvet bread pudding which was topped with a raspberry cheesecake ice cream....this dessert was OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Other than the food, the atmosphere was very nice, and our waitress was wonderful. I will definitely look to come back.

My friend and I HAD to visit Magnolias on our recent trip to Charleston. The food was decadent and true southern cuisine. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer, buffalo chicken salad and low country bouillabaisse. She also opted for the dessert special. Must try in Charleston💗

Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar is a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts in downtown Charleston, SC. Nestled in the vibrant heart of the city, this restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere with its charming brick walls and clubby vibe. The menu showcases a delightful array of fresh, local seafood that highlights the essence of Lowcountry cuisine.
Great place, awesome location and wonderful service. The shrimp were cooked perfect, tons of flavor. Oysters top notch, topsail were my favorite. If you have kids, definitely try a bite of Fry's or mac & cheese...both were delicious. The shrimp and grits was dynamite and nice sized portion. Only critic was the crab cakes a little dry, but packed with flavor.

The location is in the heart of Charl. The exterior and the feel when you walk in are nice. The tables are very small, and the waiters are always on their toes when two dishes arrive. I recommend not going without a reservation. Generally, the food, and of course the oysters, were good. However, the cocktails were abysmal. They were very simple, flavorless, and lacking in attention. Even though our son took some great photos, don't let them fool you. :)) The prices are quite high. I'd say it's in the middle of the price-performance ratio.

Had a great time! My husband said the raw oysters were the best he's had since we arrived in Charleston. I enjoyed the peach salad with the catch of the day, which was halibut. It was cooked perfectly!

We came here for dinner to celebrate my friend’s birthday after looking at their menu. It was a really nice day out so we opted to sit outside. We started with the calamari steak cut and it was pretty good, but felt like it could’ve been crispier but based on how they were cut like “steak fries” it was more on the soft side. The crab cakes with mash potatoes were bigger than I expected. The mash was a touch too salty for me, on top of the already savory crab cakes and sauce so it was a little over powering although the flavors were good. My favorite dish was the risotto with seared scallops. They had the perfect sear and texture along with the creamy risotto. Our server checked on us from time to time but we didn’t converse with her much. We didn’t get offered anything for her bday and it wasn’t a super special experience but the service was still good in terms of how everything was paced and our waters stayed refilled.

They got us into our reservation an hour early (we were happy to wait, but figured we’d would just ask), our server Danelle was AMAZING! Danelle absolutely elevated our experience at amen. She gave us plenty of suggestions, never rushed us, and was so pleasant to interact with. The food was also 10/10. We went for brunch on a Friday morning. The food was wonderful!! I was actually shocked how good the brunch was. I got the plate with bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, pancake, and toast (server mentioned it was newer to the menu). It was WONDERFUL! The coffee was smooth and not sour which was greatly appreciated. My only regret was that we could’ve gone back again before we left! Will definitely go back again next time we are here!

Wonderful service by Cassandra! Bobby was also very helpful. Visited Second Sunday on King. They were busy, but the wait wasn't long at all. Fried ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly moist. The Carolina BBQ sauce was sweet and spicy, went very well with the ribs. Fried chicken was fresh and well-seasoned, per usual. (There's a disclaimer about the 18-min cook time on the menu.) Fried green tomatoes were piping hot in the middle with a crispy crust, served with a side of herby ranch. The brown gravy on the smothered pork chops tasted like it was sitting too long inside of the metal pot so that entree was replaced with shrimp and grits (not pictured). Staff were very accommodating and understanding. My main complaint -- it seemed as though their oil wasn't fresh, because everything we ordered fried had a burnt oil taste. Hope that makes sense. Would have given 3 stars, but the customer service was so great. I'll be back!

If you're new to Chatleston or on vacation looking for a great southern home restaurant, Virginia's is on that list! Went for a bachelor party dinner. Food was good, Server polite, kept the drinks full, conversation plentiful and all food arrived hot and to order!! Will visit again. We had the fried chicken dinner and Blackened salmon pasta. For appetizers we had the fried okra green tomatoes and pickles!!

Nikki was an awesome server! She had great energy at that early in the morning. The fried ribs were great! I loved the seasonal salad I wasn't crazy about the dressing, but it was still good. You're going to spend a pretty penny on whatever you eat there, but it's great nonetheless!

Nice little all day spot off King St. Stopped in for breakfast. Virginia's was recommended by our hotel. Spot on with their suggestion. Breakfast was excellent. I had the stuffed French toast. I am not a big pecan fan but was willing to try something new. Great choice. The blend of fresh fruit, pecan cream cheese and blueberry syrup was perfect. My wife enjoyed her chicken and waffles. Add a morning cocktail and the day was starting out good. Check them out and decide for yourself.

This place is amazing. I’ll name a few. Shrimp and grits (creamy, juicy shrimp, a little spice…), had the special pecan and crusted flounder. (Sweet, tender, juicy, large portion). Biscuits and gravy (perfect), breakfast burrito was actually great.

Virginia’s on King is hands down one of my favorite spots in Charleston! The food was incredible. Easily the best grits I’ve had in my life, perfectly creamy and flavorful. The bacon was thick and crispy, the sausage had great seasoning, and the omelets were cooked to perfection. On top of that, the hospitality was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. It’s a cozy spot with a relaxed, Southern ambiance that makes you feel right at home. If you're in Charleston and want a true taste of Southern comfort, Virginia’s is a must-visit!

The Tattooed Moose is a popular local watering hole with a dive bar feel, featured on Food Network's 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.' Known for its upbeat atmosphere and elevated bar food, it offers favorites like the renowned duck club sandwich. The outdoor seating area provides a fantastic setting to enjoy lunch or dinner. With two locations, including one in Johns Island, it's an authentic Charleston experience offering casual indoor and open-air outdoor seating.
The Tattooed Moose is a fantastic lunch spot! We had the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and the Duck Club sandwich—both were delicious and packed with flavor. The outdoor seating was great, and it looks like they have a space for live music at night, which adds to the cool, laid-back vibe. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was exactly what you’d want for a relaxed meal. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the Park Circle area!

I was in search of something local and happened to come across this lovely gem while in Charleston. Many items are homemade! I ordered the pickles for starters, and wow, they're full of flavors - sour, salty, and heat! They know how to pickle! Then, I had to try to have a lucky sandwich and homemade pork rinds. The kimchi in the sandwich was out of this world and also homemade! Get out! I was accidentally served the duck fat fries, which were delicious! The sandwich was a bit juicy, so it made the bottom of the bun a bit soggy. I'm so glad I stopped in for appetizing southern cuisine. The service was excellent and prompt. I tried the grapefruit radler. The encouraged graffiti is fun. The taxidermy is interesting. I would recommend this restaurant! Thanks, Tattooed Moose!

Our family from Buffalo joined us to celebrate our son’s birthday at the Tattooed Moose this Saturday night. We have been to the location on John’s Island before so the atmosphere isn’t quite as nice here but the food is just as delicious. We had an array of items on the menus such as Garlic and Blue Cheese fries; unbelievably delicious, turkey dinner sandwich, Duck Club sandwich, Cobb Salad, Porkstrami Rueben, Jumbo wings in two flavors and Tattooed Moose burger. Everything was awesome and Kali our server was very engaging and attentive to our needs; a real asset to the Moose. The music was a bit loud so having conversation was a little difficult especially when the basketball bagan banging against the backboard. The outdoor eating area is quite large although the hot humid weather last night kept us indoors.

Great local spot! We were traveling through and found the Moose on a list of DDD spots. We were not disappointed. The beer list is great. They have old fashioned drinks on tap. The service was wonderful. The food was great ( duck fries, Nashville hot chicken Sammie, flaffel) The vibe is super chill. You can write on things with markers. What else could you want?!

Great atmosphere. I loved the various taxidermy animals as well as the tables that you can write on with a Sharpie. We got the Mike’s famous duck club with fries and the Lucky #1 sub with Brunswick stew. All of the food was unique and amazing. We will definitely come back for more!

To start we had a coffee stout to go with the 30min wait for a table. Buzy little joint! We ordered the Duck Club sandwich (a melt in your mouth 4 napkin samy) with pork rinds the garnish is worth mentioning homemade dill pickles & spicey pickled green tomatoes 👍👍 & a side of Mexican Steet Corn (garlicky buttery goodness) Our server was great, he said portions were portions large and splittable & very knowledgeable about the menu. This was a "Triple D" spot & it didn't disappoint.

Extremely eclectic restaurant. Excellent Duck Club Sandwich with house made pork rinds, which is obviously not something you find everywhere. Bathroom graffiti among the most bizarre and entertaining in the state, big not the southeast. Great live music when we were there. Overall, would definitely come here again.

Stumbled upon here on the way back to our Airbnb in N Charleston after a hot day on the town! And wow, we’ve found a new spot that we will frequent on our quarterly trips here! My husband had the lucky sand which and oh my word the flavors! I had the falafel pita and wow how fresh and yummy on a hot afternoon. Our young kiddos loved their kids meals with pork rinds/fruit. We arrived around 5 pm and seated immediately, by the time we left there seemed to be a slight wait. We enjoyed the live music outside after departing for the night. Highly recommend!

The Swamp Fox Restaurant, located in the heart of Downtown Charleston within the Francis Marion Hotel, offers a taste of classic Southern cuisine and regional specialties. Named after Revolutionary War hero General Francis Marion, this upscale eatery overlooks Marion Square Park and features award-winning dishes such as shrimp and grits. With a focus on locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and fisheries, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a historic 1920s setting.
Pleasantly surprised by how good this place is. Tried it for lunch during restaurant week and happy we finally did. Portions were generous, and you can tell the chef put thought into each dish. I had a pear salad with purple pears—fresh and unique. My husband enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with bacon, saying they were filling and flavorful. For mains, I had perfectly cooked fried snapper with cheese grits and spicy tomato sauce, while my husband said the French dip sandwich was the best he’s ever had. I didn’t care for the flourless chocolate cake. Service was great but plan for 1-1.5 hours. Spent $70 for two, including tip. Recommend for tourists and locals! PS. They served the bread for free

The food and atmosphere were fantastic. The crab cakes especially were so soft and flavorful! My mom had the burger and it was cooked to perfection. But the real highlight was Eric our server. He was so attentive, and made my mom’s birthday dinner really special. He was the cherry on top of a perfect meal.

Anson Restaurant is a stylish Southern coastal fixture known for its carefully sourced ingredients and full bar with an impressive wine list. The restaurant offers a classy evening experience with top-notch cocktails and delectable food options like Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Fried Green Tomatoes. Reservations are available for groups of up to six people, or walk-ins are welcome.
The prices are a bit pretentious... But the food was 95% delightful 😊 Lovely Menu, service was really good. I would most definitely come back! The She crab soup was delightful!

I took the family here for my wife's birthday and we had a nice time. The restaurant is high end but there is a mix of formal and casual that's interesting. For instance they had basketball games on TVs in the bar during dinner which struck me as a bit odd for a high end restaurant. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter was a pro and very good throughout the meal. We shared a few appetizers including the shrimp and the brussel sprouts which were both very good. Well, actually the brussel sprouts were amazing. My son had a cup of the she crab soup and he was a big fan. The restaurant is known for the whole crispy (i.e. pan fried) flounder and so I ordered that and wasn't at all disappointed. It was tender and flakey and perfectly seasoned. It was served with a slaw that wasn't nearly as flavorful and just so-so. My wife had the tile fish and wasn't super happy with it, so she gave it to my son to finish. My daughter ordered the burger which was huge and she really enjoyed it. Given the location, you're looking at street or garage parking but it wasn't any issue finding a spot this time of year. The ambiance was really nice, minus the basketball. Oddly there is only one restroom to serve both sexes, so there was a line when I needed to use it. The restaurant was busy and buzzing, which I like, and the lighting was perfect. Dinner for four was $300 with minimal drinks, so budget accordingly.

Had dinner here today and overall really enjoyed the experience. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and gave thoughtful recommendations. Food was mostly great, with a few standouts and one miss for me. - She crab soup: Rich, complex, and clearly made with top-tier ingredients. You get a burst of layered flavors in every spoonful, with little bites of veggies like celery adding a refreshing crunch. It’s the kind of dish that probably has 55 steps behind it. - Beet salad: Unexpectedly amazing. Chilled beets with burrata, pistachios, and other tiny nuts made for the perfect balance of nutty, crunchy, sour and bright. - Pork chop (special): My husband’s pick. Super crispy skin, peppery, and came with a rich mushroom sauce. He said it was the best pork chop he’s had. - Whole crispy flounder: This one didn’t do it for me. First time trying flounder, and it just felt kind of bland—even with the sauce. The meat wasn’t as tender as I’d hoped. Not bad, but not something I’d order again. Still, great experience overall and would definitely come back—especially for the starters and service.

We celebrated our anniversary tonight at the Anson. Our experience was first class from start to finish! The service was stellar, and the food was incredible (we had she-crab soup, baby beet salad, ravioli, and the halibut). Portions were perfect, and top notch. We highly recommend the Anson. Parking is close and convenient as well. We couldn't have asked for better.

07/31/2025 – Anson - on Anson Street This is why I am doing this fun project of exploring the restaurants that Charleston has to offer. It is all worth it when I find a hidden gem like I did last night. Anson has been around for over 35 years and yet I never knew of it. It is very simple looking from the outside. When walking from our garage to the restaurant, we had to pass by the horse stalls that serve as the horse drawn carriages that the tourists partake. But there is no fear of “horse smell” ruining an evening at Anson. This restaurant has it all. It is the Triple Crown of eateries. It has ambience, great service, super friendly staff, and the food is THE BEST I have eaten in my experiences of dining out in historic Charleston. We arrived at 5:30pm in order to have the dining room to ourselves and enjoy the ambiance and service. Our server was K.J. She was a delight. She has been working there for five years and gave us a complete background history on the Anson and its development. The main floor hosts a beautiful bar. The theme is red and black with comfy booths and chairs. Looking at the menu online before we arrived, we were worried that there was not going to be a large choice of meats to choose from. But K.J. informed us that the Anson is known for its steaks. She began listing all the meat entrees that were available. We had too many great choices and now we want to go back and try all of them! So do NOT let the online menu fool you or deter you. We asked that they didn’t rush us, and they did not. We had a 2.5-hour experience wining and dining and loved every minute of it. We were not rushed. We were treated like royalty. And they only seemed concerned with making us enjoy the evening and dining experience. There is an upstairs dining room that was pure elegance. It was like taking a tour of a beautiful old mansion with deep colors and chandeliers and plush furnishings. For ambience, it is a 10++++. Knowing it was our first time there, the chef Shawn sent out a complimentary appetizer of gnocchi drizzled with coconut milk and cheese. It was outstanding. I started with the Shrimp de Johnge - baked Royal Red shrimp, sherry, garlic, breadcrumbs, and herbs. It was a new taste for me but a delight. Ron ordered the fried green tomatoes with bacon jam and pimento cheese. It was delicious and a very generous helping. We had a relaxing break and then our main course arrived. The server, K.J., told us that their filet mignon is known for being a “melt in your mouth” delight. I have heard that term over-used too much where I don’t even hear it any more. BUT this time it was true. Every bite melted in my mouth. And it was cooked perfectly the way I like it. A side of mashed potatoes and I was a happy patron. Ron had the veal parmesan. He also agreed it was the best he had ever had. I had a taste, and it too was light and flavorful. Dessert was a pecan pie served warm with vanilla ice cream on top. By the time we finished, we were floating in an epicurean heaven. I can’t say enough about this place. The staff kept coming by to say “hi”. The chef Shawn came out to our table to see how everything was and to thank us for giving their little gem a try. I think we met every one that worked there. So friendly and warm. They even sent us a round of champagne! The entire time, we were both thinking about coming back and bringing friends with us so they could experience this place also. I want to come back and try more items. I want to come back and dine in each and every beautiful room upstairs and down. So, for us: Service – 10+++++++ Ambiance - 10++++++ Food – 10+++++++ The best we have ever had, and we have had a lot!! Would we go back? In a heartbeat. I was just there last night and yet I yearn to return and see if it was all a dream.

I really wanted to like Anson, the room is pretty and the greeting was friendly. Things really started off wrong with the drinks. All cocktails were $22 and they were bad. Bad glassware, crappy ice, and bad flavors. Two of our cocktails stood untouched until the waiter removed them, but he didn’t ask if anything was wrong with them. I could have sent them back but they really should not be selling bad cocktails at that price point in this day and age. Doar brothers around the corner had absolutely fantastic cocktails priced at $16. The apps were just ok, 5 tiny toasted oysters for $24 and a shrimp and bread crumb that was tasty but mostly breadcrumbs. For Mains the crispy flounder was very nice, the ravioli entree was just ok, 6 ravioli for $45. I just don’t think the value of Anson stands up among other Charleston restaurants. It too bad because they were very gracious and told me several times that they appreciated that we were there.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and everything was amazing! The service was very attentive, and several of the wait staff as well as the manager I believe checked on us multiple times. The food was excellent too. My wife had the halibut and corn risotto, while I had the ravioli stuffed with ricotta and herb cheese and I usually need a lot to get full, but this was so good and very flavor intensive. They treated us so well and we will definitely be back for a future visit. It's good so I recommend trying it if you want something elegant and stylish.

It gets harder and harder to find a restaurant that cares about and knows how to deliver good food and great service. Anson delivered both during our recent visit to Charleston. Our server, Paul, from Buffalo, a Bills fan (we are Patriots fans) paced our meal perfectly, provided helpful recommendations - get the pork chop - and ensured that everything was just right without being intrusive. We enjoyed his company just as much as we enjoyed the great food and the beautiful second floor dining room. Overall, a great experience

Lewis Barbecue Charleston is the go-to spot for the best Texas-style house-smoked meats in Charleston. Pitmaster John Lewis, a Texas native, brings his expertise and hand-welded smokers to deliver flavorful smoked barbecue with traditional cowboy favorites. The industrial-hip space features a bustling bar and ample outdoor picnic tables, creating a vibe reminiscent of Austin, Texas. Guests can enjoy their choice of meats served cafeteria-style along with classic Texas barbecue sides and a full bar.
My husband keeps saying how good Lewis BBQ was! The brisket was the best he says he ever had. The turkey was mwlt in your mouth and crazy moist! My son enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket nachos were a meal themselves and were tasty. The Mac and cheese and tallow fries were delectable. We also got the potato salad and a hunk of cheddar cheese, both are very good. The potato salad has a vinegar flavor and just wasn't what we ate used to. That restaurant has a great atmosphere. The location of the drinks is a little backwards and is back by where you order food rather than being after the checkout. Parking also was a little hard as the small parking lot was full so we had to find street parking a street away but helped get a short walk in after our huge meal. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again. May have to convince my husband to book a cruise out of Charleston just to have an excuse to return!

We are always in the prowl for best bbq. We only ever thought Mad Jacks in Cloud Croft New Mexico was the only best place; Lewis BBQ has exceeded our expectations! Best brisket and turkey we have ever had! Its a bonus, since we are from NM/AZ that they use Hatch Green chilis in their food! That makes it absolutely incredible to even find Hatch green chili anything in the south! Very very highly recommended!!

BBQ to die for. Hands down the best pulled pork I've ever had in my life. Moist and tender, but not mushy. Full of meaty pork flavor. With just the perfect hit of vinegar. Brisket so tender, you can cut it with a--plastic-- fork. Smokey and Oak-ey with a great, sweet, crackly crust. Juicy moist and perfect meaty, tender ribs.coleslaw has the tang of pickled onions in it and creamy mac and cheese with a little bit of crust... This is barbecue HEAVEN. PLEASE PLEASE OPEN A LOCATION IN PENSACOLA!!! WE WILL COME EVERY WEEK ❤️

Hats off to John Lewis and staff for treating us to a smorgasbord of smoked meats and delicious sides. The food brought me back to central Texas with the sweet wood smoke in the air, melt in your mouth brisket, spicy Texas sausages, and fall off the bone beef ribs. We enjoyed the hospitality at the bar and laid back vibe of the outdoor patio. While I would come back every day for the beef brisket, a surprising second favorite was the smoked turkey breast with green chile BBQ sauce. Congratulations on building a fantastic restaurant experience John!

Brisket and mac and cheese are easily the best, probably ever. We visited twice - first time we waited in line for about 30-45 mins but the second time was very quick! Only a few groups were in front of us. They offer a choice of lean or fatty brisket which is really nice. Tap beers/bar items available for enjoying while you wait in line.

Waited a whole year to come back to this place. Food is honey and comforting. We really like the pulled pork, Mac n cheese and the banana pudding. Oh and don't forget the sweet tea! We got lucky and found a spot in their parking lot. The wait in line was about 30 minutes but well worth the wait and the drive from Summerville. Every time we are out this way we will stop here. They ship everything nationwide now so we're going to order some for our friends and family to try it.

The Grocery is a warm and inviting restaurant with an inventive, seasonal menu and a selection of signature cocktails, wine, and craft beers. Chef Kevin Johnson, a multiple-time James Beard Award-semifinalist, showcases the flavors of locally sourced ingredients in dishes like the Lowcountry Seafood Pilau and wood-roasted whole fish. The restaurant's wood-burning oven imparts a smoky flavor to various dishes such as cauliflower, asparagus, and whole roasted snapper.
Had a great visit with friends! We had a reservation and were seated promptly by the window, which gave us a nice view and a quieter atmosphere compared to the main room, which was a bit noisy. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The only downside was that we weren't offered a dessert menu, so if you’re hoping for dessert, be sure to ask. Bonus: they have a paid parking lot, but you can validate your ticket after paying the check, which is super convenient. Overall, a solid experience!

My friend and I came in for a quick dessert and a glass of wine after dinner. We were sat immediately and the hosts were super nice and asked if a booth was suitable. After taking a quick glance at the menu our server Anna came and greeted us, walking us through the dessert menu. We mentioned that my friend has a nut allergy and Anna quickly confirmed with the kitchen that the nuts she was allergic to were not in or on the dessert we ordered. The Ricotta almond cake was DIVINE. A perfect suggestion made by our server. It practically melted in our mouths! The textures were soft with a bit of crunch at the end from the almonds! Overall it was an amazing experience! We will absolutely be back for a full course meal! Thank you Anna!

They were so good. The yellowfin tuna crudo and broccoli salad tasted amazing as well. We will be back!

The food was AMAZING!! Service was good, I didnt enjoy that when we sat before even looking at menus we were asked if we wanted bread and butter. We said yes assuming it was complimentary like so many other restaurants, but when the bill came, they charged us for it. It was a very sneaky move. I dont appreciate that kind of service. Other than that everything was spot on Other than that everything was amazing. We ordered mushrooms, blistered peppers, wreck fish, and the baklava sundae 🍨 Highly recommend

Excellent drink menu, delicious small plates. The pork belly, peaches, and eggplant plates were all very well done, and I normally avoid eggplant. Everything is well balanced and thoughtfully constructed. The potatoes with the steak were uniquely prepared, thin sliced, and then restocked. The Au Pear cocktail was delicious but a tad small, or at least that was my perception. Would absolutely come back. Rachel was our server, she was very helpful and accommodating.

Edmund's Oast is a trendy destination that combines a brewery, restaurant, and beer garden. The establishment offers a diverse menu featuring house-made charcuterie, locally sourced ingredients, and fresh catch of the day fish. Guests can enjoy craft cocktails and house beers brewed on-site in the expansive outdoor beer garden or indoor restaurant space. The bar menu curated by head bartender Jayce McConnell includes an array of spirits alongside an impressive selection of American whiskey.
Lunch outside is SO GREAT!! Cool breezes blow. Lots of shady areas and they have fans on. They have both large picnic tables & large tables with chairs. Menus wait for you at the tables...you walk over to the bar to place your order & pay & then they carry your order out to ya.! We arrived about 11:55 a.m. on a Thursday-not even crowded. :) You can have your dog under the table or the baby in a stroller next to the table. Food servings are enough to share the 2 piece fried chicken with 2 sides. Love Love Love the Mac & Peas side as a meal!!! Thank you for a Wonderful lunch outside!

Finally got the chance to try this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. While we really enjoy Edmund’s Oast beer, the restaurant side didn’t make the same impression. The food was good, and the portions were generous, but something felt missing. My wife ordered the fried catfish with grits, which was the standout dish of the night. My son and I shared the whole chicken, with one half original and the other half Korean style. The original was underwhelming, but the Korean-style chicken was packed with flavor and heat. As for the sides—rice and beans, collard greens, and pasta salad—they were good but nothing particularly memorable. The service wasn’t bad, just a bit off and felt a little strange. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, and I can see why reservations are necessary. Overall, I’d rate it a 4.5. It’s a solid spot, but we didn’t leave feeling like it was somewhere we’d come back to.

Easily the best food in Charleston especially for it's price point. Anything with this level of quality and service would easily be $100-200/person in New Jersey or New York. Service was amazing, hell, beyond expectation. I'm also quite frankly a bit shocked how small the bill was for two entrees, a side (which was LARGE), and a drink was. Shawn, our waiter, should be example as to how service should be for other restaurants in the area. Beyond just recommending items, he gave a few recommendations and helped narrow down the options through taste or dietary restrictions. He also recommended several desserts, but due to how delicious and filling the meal became, we sadly weren't hungry enough to fit one in. Sure, Charleston has plenty of amazing options, otherwise I wouldn't want to be a student here, but I think this is a must-have for all tourists and incoming freshman like myself. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just superb. I'd compare the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and most importantly the service to that of an episode of The Bear. It carries perfectly that southern charm mixed with fine dining and a pub. I'm just still baffled how amazing that prime rib was. Hope to be back in August! Thank you once again Shawn for the amazing service.

The smoked salmon toast is a must!! This photo doesn't do it justice. This has been my go-to order for a while but it is better than ever. The buttery toasted bread, amazing smoked salmon, and then the aioli and picked cucumbers are such a good addition. The flavors are not what you’d expect for a salmon toast but they all work so well! 10/10

Fried Chicken, Family Vibes and a Fantastic Start to Our Trip! We stopped at Edmund’s Oast for lunch right after landing in Charleston on July 4th, on our way to our VRBO on Folly Beach - and it couldn’t have been a better kickoff to our holiday week. The food was fantastic. We went with the family-style fried chicken, which came with collard greens, rice & beans and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious, it hit the spot for the whole family. We sat outside, the setup was spacious, relaxed, and welcoming - perfect for easing into vacation mode. The indoor space looked very cool as well, ideal if you’re looking to escape the summer heat. Restrooms were spotless (always a plus), the service was friendly and efficient. Great food, great vibe - Edmund’s Oast absolutely delivered.

Nice covered beer garden with lots of seating. Dog friendly and the food and drinks were great. The key lime pie was magical.

Dropped in for dinner at the taphouse of a brewery we already love, and ended up getting more than we expected. The menu leaned into Thai fusion, which was a surprise, but a really welcome one. We tried the salt chicken, mushrooms and rice noodles, and a papaya salad. Everything came out with bold flavors and bright, fresh ingredients. The salt chicken had a crisp, savory crust and juicy interior, while the mushrooms and noodles packed real heat. I can usually handle spice, but these had me sweating in the best way. The papaya salad added a refreshing crunch and a tangy contrast that helped cool things down. The beer, of course, was top-tier. Huge variety on tap, and even better when enjoyed right at the source.

Home Team BBQ is a lively tavern known for its generous portions of smoked meat and Southern sides, as well as frequent live music. The restaurant was established in 2006 by Aaron Fiery Ron Siegel, who transformed a mid-1900s gas station into a popular barbecue hangout in West Ashley. Today, the establishment has expanded to seven locations and offers thriving catering services. The menu features local favorites such as dry-rubbed smoked wings with Alabama White Sauce and BBQ Nachos.
Try the brisket y’all! This place is hands-down one of the best barbeque places you’ll ever try. The food is outstanding, the ambiance and atmosphere is outstanding, and the service is top-notch. They also have a great selection of local brews on top. This place is worth every penny if you find your way here.

This place has become me and my girlfriend's new favorite restaurant. We've come here all 5 times now and will continue to stop by. The staff are always super friendly and the food is to die for. The pulled pork tastes amazing and being able to sauce it yourself is a great way to make sure it's perfect for your tastes. The ribs are THE BEST ribs I've ever had, the char grilled outside with the tender, juicy, pink inside and savory flavor is so good and I must recommend it to everyone. We will definitely continue to come back.

We got the Fiery Ron’s Smoked Wings, Fiery Ron’s Burger and Tots — all of them were amazing. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. I can’t recommend this place enough and will absolutely be stopping by next time I’m back in Charleston.

I've been hearing about Home Team BBQ ever since I moved here a year ago- I can't believe this was my first time! I went with a group of friends and we were all blown away by our entrees. I personally had the pulled pork meat plate with mac & cheese and coleslaw on the side. Sarah provided excellent service and we had a great experience.

The freshly fried pork rinds with pimento cheese were great. Also, the sausage with cheese was a real treat. All of the food was top notch, and the numerous bbq sauces are homemade and worth experiencing.

It’s a simple order, 12 chicken wings + a game changer. This is a top 5 meal of my life as these are the best chicken wings I’ve ever had. My wife also loves their salad with pulled pork.

Delicious BBQ in a very cool setting. A lot of the walls are covered with concert posters and there's a mural of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. The pulled pork was delicious and I liked their Red and Red Hot (not that hot) sauces. Their mustard based sauces went well with the smoked sausage. Their pickles deserve a mention, too: their homemade and amazing!

Brunch restaurant
Restaurant
Millers All Day is a refined bistro, bakery, and bar in Charleston that offers breakfast all day. The restaurant was created by a team of passionate Southern chefs and a farmer who grinds fresh grits daily on a 175-year-old mill visible from the window. The menu features staples like eggs, pancakes, and various coffee options. Co-owner Greg Johnsman ensures that the restaurant balances blue plate breakfasts with fancy morning entrees such as lobster toast on house-baked brioche.
Miller’s All Day is exactly the kind of place you want to linger over breakfast or brunch. The atmosphere has such a fun, retro diner vibe with a Charleston twist—it feels welcoming the moment you walk in. The food is not only beautifully presented but absolutely delicious. Their grits are some of the creamiest I’ve ever had, and the biscuits are perfectly fluffy and buttery. My coffee stayed full (always a plus!) and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. The staff was so friendly and attentive without being rushed, which really added to the experience. You can tell they care about both the food and the people they serve. It’s one of those spots that makes you want to come back again and again—whether for a slow morning or to show off Charleston to out-of-town guests. If you’re in town and want a true taste of Southern breakfast done right, Miller’s All Day is a must!

Atmosphere and service was fantastic! We came to Millers for a quick brunch before heading home. We got the banana bread and the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The banana bread was heavenly! It was moist and had a light chocolate cream that melted right on your tongue. The grilled cheese was super crispy and the tomato soup was amazing! The cappuccino latte had a nice decoration and tasted perfect! I would come here everyday if I had the chance to! 😊

From start to finish the whole experience was 10/10!!! Appetizers, drinks, entrées were spectacular. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is adorable. Tristen our server, was amazing. Very attentive, and made wonderful suggestions. Definitely coming back next visit to Charleston and i would ask for him again!

We saw the menu and immediately knew we wanted to come here. Bonnie was an absolute gem and a fabulous server, her advice and suggestions were spot on and she was so sweet. The food was absolutely fantastic! We literally loved every bite of everything we got. The cinnamon roll was absolutely enormous and even tho we shared it, we barely made a dent. The grits + cheddar cheese were amazing. The cornmeal pancakes and fried chicken were spectacular. We very likely will come back for breakfast tomorrow.

I stopped by Millers All Day and ordered the King Street Bowl — absolutely delicious! Everything was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and felt like the ideal Charleston brunch dish. My waiter, Tristan, was awesome — super friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. The vibe was fun and relaxed, and service was quick even though it was busy. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to next time I’m in town!

Fantastic breakfast. The biscuits are amazing. We would have liked to try a cinnamon roll, as some of our neighbors were enjoying them, but we were just too stuffed! Service was friendly and attentive. We were willing to take a high top so did not have to wait.
Jamie V — Google review
Really tasty breakfast spot! The food was great, though the prices were a little high ($4 just to swap bacon for sausage and $12 for a mimosa). But wow — the biscuit with apple butter completely stole the show! Absolutely delicious and worth coming back for on its own.
Theresa — Google review
Despite the name of the restaurant, they close at 3p so we were happy to make it in time for a late lunch. Perhaps because it was 230p, the food was all served lukewarm vs hot, as in cooked to order. It mostly tasted fine but we like our food served hot. The shrimp and grits was ok flavor-wise but lukewarm which doesn’t work for me especially with gravy. The biscuit with sausage gravy was also lukewarm but the fried eggs were hot. The fried chicken was dry and maybe it was reheated but the bigger issue for us was too heavy handed on the pimento cheese which overwhelmed the taste buds. Not a fan of this dry chicken sandwich. The service is excellent so that gets the review an extra star.

French restaurant
Restaurant
Chez Nous is a charming restaurant located in the historic residential neighborhood of Cannonborough-Elliotborough. The cozy space gives diners the feeling of being in a French family's home, where they are served with love and affection by the welcoming French couple who own the place. The menu offers a standard three-course meal that changes daily, featuring two options for each course. The dishes are beautifully plated and prepared with near-perfection.
Where shall we go today, France or Italy? Perhaps a bordertown experience ala Courmayeur? Having been to Charleston once before, I was interested in stepping outside the local low-country cuisine to experience a restaurant with different, even European aspirations. Chez Nous filled that bill quite nicely. The restaurant is in a converted house down an alley far from bustling King Street. Although they have a lovely patio, be sure to request an inside table if the weather concerns you. While not strictly a farm-to-table purist kitchen, the approach is absolutely one based in local, fresh, and high quality ingredients. The menu ( handwritten by the chef in both French and English) is more than concise: two starters, two entrees, and two desserts are presented each day—perhaps with the goal of relieving you of the decision-fatigue so prevalent in modern life. Regardless of intent, the approach is liberating. You make reservations here with the understanding that you are relying on the chef’s selection of ingredients determining what she will cook that day. There is no burning desire to preview the menu online and succumb in advance to our predilections. Instead, proceed with faith. The starter I chose, an antipasto dish of prosciutto, burrata, and strawberries was simple and delicious. We tried both Main’s: the spaghetti con vongole (clams from Oregon) and the fried chicken. The pasta was al dente and the sauce delicate. The chicken thighs (my personal favorite piece of yardbird) was also perfectly cooked. The scarpetta ( cleaning the plate Italian style with bread) was more than warranted. The wine list is well-curated, with most wines from France, Italy, and Spain. (I was told the owners have a wine bar in Paris as well). I selected a French Bourgogne (Chardonnay) that worked brilliantly with both of the mains. The dessert finished it off, a chocolate and olive oil cake with a delicate white sauce. For that, I selected a glass of the French Chinon (Cabernet Franc). The service by Nicki was attentive, and her wine knowledge evident. The final act was a hand pulled single espresso with beans from a local roaster —with a nice crema on top. $245 for two with a $79 wine and a glass of the Cabernet Franc—in line with fine dining in town. I will be back one day for another series of choices by the chef.

Chez Nous is an absolute must try in Charleston (if you can get in!). Tucked away with its charming, intimate atmosphere, it feels like a secret you’re lucky to stumble upon. The menu changes daily, which makes the dining experience feel truly special. The hanger steak with onions was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor and likely one of the best I’ve ever had. The trout with hazelnut brown butter was equally outstanding: rich, delicate, and beautifully balanced. And to finish, the pot de crème au chocolat was nothing short of delightful—silky, decadent, and the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole evening felt like dining at a friend’s home in Europe. Chez Nous captures the magic of simple, thoughtful cooking at its finest. I can’t wait to return and see what’s on the menu next time!

I recently dined at this restaurant during a work trip with my colleagues from NJ, and we were truly impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet elegant evening. Our server Lianna was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcomed from start to finish. The food was outstanding and beautifully prepared with authentic flavors that highlighted the best of French cuisine. Every detail, from presentation to taste, exceeded expectations. A wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an intimate and memorable meal. I wish I lived in the area so I could savor the dishes every week!!

Fantastic daily changing menu. Our visit with three people we ordered both apps (lamb skewers, and Burrata with eggplant) to share and each had an entree (herbed chicken and potatoes, and grouper with a saffron broth). All the food was amazing. Dessert also delicious. The price is high but the quality is there.

Little Jack's Tavern is a classic spot with wooden floors and checkered tablecloths, offering comfort food, cocktails, and burgers. It has gained popularity for its simple yet delicious tavern burger, which has become a sensation on Instagram. The adjacent bar has a speakeasy vibe and offers unique drinks like the Jack's rum Old-Fashioned. Additionally, visitors are recommended to try the unconventional treat of the Tavern Burger as both an appetizer and dessert.
Delicious quick bite. I got the farro salad with grilled chicken and it was really fresh and yummy. My boyfriend got the double burger and he described it as a "quarter pounder but better." I completely agree. Super simple but excellent I don't know how they did it. The Brussel sprouts were excellent to share. Those portions weren't huge but I felt satisfied after. They also sat us right away at the bar and still served us food at like 9:45. Super nice of them to have the kitchen open that late! Atmosphere is lovely too. Can't go wrong with this place

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and Little Jack’s Tavern was one of our favorite stops. The salads absolutely rocked and were so fresh and flavorful. The drinks were amazing too!! My wife had the Bohemian Raspberry and loved it, and we finished the night with Brandy Alexanders that were out of this world. We cannot remember our server’s name, but he had really cool shoes and was extremely friendly and attentive. We even chatted with him about Donna’s Pickle Beer and how our city helps brew it, which was such a fun conversation. He truly made our experience special and deserves recognition. The bartenders crushed it on every cocktail, and the outdoor space was romantic, vibey, and the perfect setting for a relaxing dinner. The brussel sprouts completely stole the show; they were the best we have ever had and deserve to be talked about more. Little Jack’s Tavern is an absolute gem and a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for fitting us in!!!

What a super cute spot! Delicious burgers with amazing drinks? Sign me up! The single tavern burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. You won’t be disappointed at Little Jack’s. The service is good and the ambiance is peaceful with dim lighting. As someone who prefers smaller settings, I loved Little Jack’s. And while you’re there, try the grouper fritters appetizer. Those were absolutely delicious. On your way out, don’t forget to grab an exclusive Little Jack’s sweatshirt. The best purchase I made while in Charleston!

2nd time being here and again I ordered the burger and again I enjoyed it. I would say though some pickles on the side to give it some acidity would be nice but overall a really good burger. Don't let the size fool you it does the job. Loved the fries and whatever dip they have for them is the perfect combo. The brussels were solid with a nice little Asian twist. They've got wine on tap which was actually pretty good. The only thing that was a severe miss was the flourless chocolate cake. It was like a brick of tasteless chocolate. Overall a solid option and service was welcoming and attentive at the bar.

This is my 1st time trying this place and I kid you not, this place is amazing! I had the surf and turf burger, my brother had the fried fish and my sister got the veggie burger. I recommend coming here and trying their food.

Melfi's is a charming Italian restaurant with a rich history, located in a polished, old-school dining room that offers updated versions of classic Italian dishes. The menu features house-made linguine with pancetta or littleneck clams and Roman-style pizzas like the Mr. Wally. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and lively, making it an ideal spot for both date nights and group gatherings.
My biggest regret about eating at Melfi’s was that I didn’t come in sooner. My husband and I were blown away by the food. The atmosphere was vibrant and upscale…Perfect for a date night or special occasion. The spicy ceasar was hands down the best ceasar salad we’ve had. The arancini was delicious, dirty martini well balanced, but the pasta was the star of the show. We got the bolognese and bucatini and couldn’t pick a favorite. My husband was ready to come back the next day. Thank you, Melfi’s!

Took my wife here for her birthday dinner; we had reservations at the bar. A note awaited our arrival in honor of her birthday along with a champagne toast. Nate and Bryce were fantastic. Nate is a true artisan with cocktails. Service was paced perfectly. We started with the Suppli, my wife had the Osso Bucco, which was decadent, and I had the Diavola pizza for our entrees. The espresso martini served as our desserts. The ambiance was delightful. Great experience and look forward to the next time—cheers and Bon Appétit!

One of the best meals and dining experiences in Charleston! Highly recommend starting with their signature spicy caesar salad (arguably the best item on their menu) and you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas! One of the quieter bars on the block. Which I liked. No food but full focus on mixed drinks & booze. Their speciality is shots. With a ficus on well crafted well or bottom shelf liquor. The bartender was great. Id like higher quality booze for a 17$ drink.

If you enjoy a beautifully crafted cocktail, you definitely have to visit this spot. This spot is definitely one of the better craft cocktail locations in the area, if not the best! Fresh juices and syrups are prepared and used daily, and you can taste the difference with each sip. A true master mixology approach is used in the preparation of each beverage! The mixologists here are very knowledgeable and know the craft well! This location is drinks only, so solid sustenance should be planned accordingly. It's definitely worth a stop, whether it be a pre-dinner cocktail, in between stop, or a nightcap!

This was our first stop on our evening out for the bachelorette party, and we knew all the cocktails would be speciality items but their takes on some of the drinks were not our style. The bar was small and crowded making it hard to find a table for 6 of us. We all ordered a different drink and most of us were very disappointed. One of the drinks had the Charleston Buck had egg white in it and none of us liked it. The Hemingway Daiquiri had an overwhelming flavor or grapefruit juice, and tasted very tart and bitter compared to a typical daiquiri. The Pink Rabbit was ok with a fresh taste to it. We felt the cocktails were overpriced and not quite what we were looking for. The server was AMAZING and super knowledgable with his descriptions of the drinks and passion for the menu. Its a nice place if your looking for a casual evening to share a drink or two but too small for large parties for if you go too late its standing room only.

Friendly barkeeps, I’m not sure what happened with those 1-star reviews. We were recommended this bar from one of the staff at the Dewberry and they did not lead us astray. Chubby Fish is a cozy seafood restaurant located in a warm neighborhood. The menu features an array of seafood dishes, complemented by an inventive wine selection and delectable desserts. In addition to the seafood offerings, the beef tartare with radish, nori, and ranch is highly recommended. The pricing is similar to another well-known establishment in the area but offers a more casual dining experience.
Absolutely incredible! Finally was able to go with a group of friends by having someone get in line at 4pm to get our name on the list for a later seating. Exceeded my high expectations. Every dish was so flavorful! I also enjoyed the wine list. Our waitress was helpful and service was paced well. Loved being able to share the dishes with the group. Highlights for me were the caviar sliders, the cauliflower and the tile fish curry, but everything was phenomenal. Easily one of the top meals I’ve had in Charleston.

Great meal at Chubby Fish! This place serves incredibly high-quality food and creative dishes. I definitely recommend the caviar sliders, curry oysters, and the bone marrow with fried shrimp. The service was attentive and the atmosphere lively, making it a fun spot for a night out. The only drawback is that it gets very loud inside, so it’s not the best choice if you want a quiet dinner or are with people you don’t know that well. Overall, it’s a must-try Charleston gem for adventurous seafood lovers!

My fiancé and I visited Charleston to celebrate a very special week—my 40th birthday which my fiancé proposed to me on!—and Chubby Fish made it truly unforgettable. We dined there our first night in town and were absolutely blown away. After trying another well-reviewed restaurant the next evening and leaving feeling underwhelmed, we decided to return to Chubby Fish—and that decision turned everything around. The moment we walked in and mentioned our celebration, the staff treated us like royalty. Dani and Kate were beyond kind and attentive, making us feel like VIPs the entire evening. Every dish that came to our table was a masterpiece—fresh, innovative, and hands-down the best food we’ve ever had. And we don’t say that lightly. What really left a lasting impression was meeting the owner, James London. You could see how personally invested he is in every single dish. His passion and care are evident in every plate that leaves the kitchen. It’s rare to witness that kind of dedication, and it made the experience even more meaningful. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, buzzing with the kind of energy that tells you something special is happening here. It’s the kind of place you never want to leave—and certainly the kind of place we’ll never forget. Thank you, Chubby Fish, for making such an important moment in our lives even more magical. We can’t wait to come back.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Simply amazing meal. Got in line an hour prior to open on a Thursday evening. Got a seat in the first seating. Proceeded to order until the server said "thats plenty", then ordered a little more. The caviar sammiches are a requirement. The gnudi was hands down the best pasta dish I've ever had in my life. The blue crab toast was magical, all that flavor but didn't over power the delicate lump crab. The lamb ribs were cooked absolutely perfectly. And many others. Well deserved success. Cheers!

What an outstanding experience! We sat at the bar and got to watch the chefs in action—such a treat. Every dish that came out was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Highlights included the oysters, crudo, summer melon with pork belly, sardine toasts (served with phenomenal bread and butter), and the bone marrow with tempura shrimp. Every bite was excellent. We ended the meal with the “Not Fried Chicken” ice cream dessert—so fun and flavorful. The service was fantastic throughout. Be sure to arrive before their 5 PM opening and be ready to line up, as they don’t take reservations. Also worth checking out: the charming little bar next door called Seahorse. A perfect spot to enjoy a drink while you wait!

10/10 no notes. Usually i would write a detailed review of a great dining experience but for Chubby Fish I want to encourage everyone to experience for themselves while sharing my thoughts on how to make it the best time. Line up around 4:30 -4:45 outside the restaurant. As most readers might already know from research they do not take reservations ahead of time. The doors open at 5pm and depending where you are in line you can sit immediately or get a reservation for later. The smaller your party the more flexibility. Ask for a 6:30 reservation even if they have space to sit immediately, you’ll want that time to start next door at their cocktail bar Sea Horse. Telling them you’ll be next door if a table opens up before your reservation time you might get to sit early for Chubby Fish. Sea Horse has a thoughtfully designed cocktail list and wonderful small bites that’s a perfect warm up for your dinner. Once seated at Chubby Fish share as many dishes you can. The team is inviting, warm and exceptional at what they do. Follow this guide and you’ll have a memorable experience.

if you are in Charleston, SC you have to go to Chubby Fish. The food, the flavors, the staff - everything was great!! Our waitress was knowledgeable and recommended great dishes for our group. We lined up right at 4pm and were able to be seated at 5pm with a group of 7. They explained they really try to get everyone on the waitlist in and will stay open later just so people who want to eat - can!

Live music venue
Uptown Social is a lively multi-level neighborhood tavern and sports bar situated in the heart of upper Kings entertainment district. The venue offers a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse menu featuring thin-crust pizza, sliders, and upscale pub fare alongside signature cocktails and frozen drinks. The rooftop deck boasts colorful foliage, striking murals, and cozy string lights, creating an Instagram-worthy setting for live music and dancing.
The PERFECT venue for our wedding welcome party! The Uptown Social team was amazing to work with! They were so helpful in bringing our vision to life. The drinks and food were amazing and so reasonably priced. The private space upstairs has an indoor and outdoor space which was awesome - the guests loved it! We had over 100 guests stop by and they fit perfectly. I can't recommend this venue enough for any private event!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Great vibe, but service needs backup!” Uptown Social has a fun, high-energy atmosphere that makes it a solid choice if you’re looking to hang out and soak in the Charleston nightlife. The music was upbeat, the crowd was lively, and the space had that casual party vibe that’s perfect for a weekend out. That said, service was really slow when we went—only one server seemed to be covering the whole floor, which definitely affected wait times. Didn’t try the drinks this time, but the menu looked good and reasonably priced for the area. Still giving it 4 stars because the overall vibe and ambiance delivered. Just hope they have more staff next time—this place deserves smoother service to match its scene.

The bar area was fun until the servers were instructed to take away all of the tables and chairs when the DJ started. A super young crowd filled the bar and invaded our space. We left earlier than planned but made the most of it with friends.

Drinks were fine - loved my beer. Pretzel bites were sitting in a pool of grease. Top ones were good, bottom ones drained fine on the napkins.

Love this place. The bartenders are friendly drinks are great and the atmosphere is on point. My only issue is the door guy who wants to frisk you down like it’s TSA. I jumped during a pat down due to being ticklish and he immediately kicked me out. Luckily, for me the guy who was checking, IDs was nice enough to understand and let me in. I get he’s doing his job but not everyone is a drunk asshole that comes through. If the brotha could read the room I wouldn’t have left a one star view due to 1 employee.
Chris B — Google review
came here with a few friends for what we expected to be a fun night out, but our experience was ruined by the security staff. We had stepped into the restroom for maybe two minutes when a security guard suddenly started pounding on the door as if we were doing something wrong, yelling and threatening to kick us out. There was absolutely no reason for that kind of aggression. We hadn’t caused any trouble and were just using the restroom like normal customers. The entire situation was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and completely unnecessary. Management seriously needs to review how their security team treats guests — no one should be made to feel harassed or intimidated for simply using the facilities.
Tatum M — Google review
The staff were very kind and got us seated quickly. I really liked the shareable cocktails. The food is standard American fare. I enjoyed the chicken dip and the trifle fries. They had live music that night which was really fun. Overall a great spot for hanging with friends and just enjoying sitting down while checking out Charleston.

Moe's Crosstown Tavern is a no-frills hot spot located at 4 Rutledge Ave in downtown Charleston, near Hampton Park. It's a great place to catch your favorite sporting events while enjoying their award-winning pub food, including top-rated burgers. The vintage tavern ambiance adds to the experience as you indulge in game day staples like wings and onion rings or opt for entrees such as wraps, burgers, and quesadillas.
Very cool place and we enjoyed Superbowl here. One of the best wings that I has. Size was good and good flavor. They give you plates and a bowl for bones without asking for them. They also give you hand wipes. Tvs are all over to watch your favorite sport. Very good place and I suggest you stop and give them a try.

HOTTEST WINGS IN CHARLESTON !! I am a chili head, hot food fanatic, and have never failed a hot wing challenge in my life. I eat raw habaneros with ease. I ordered the "Moe's Hot" wings and they kicked my ass. Only finished three. Also the wings themselves are super good very fresh, large, little to no fat, cooked perfectly. Staff and cooks are really cool and nice. It was a real gem and worth the walk from down town!! Loved it!
Ryan K — Google review
Food is typical to a little better than pub food, wings were good , the chilli cheese fries were pretty good. Service was good considering how busy they were. The atmosphere was really nice for a pub. This place is a must visit do be worried about the neighborhood I know it looks scary, this place is worth it.

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and stopped into this tavern near our Airbnb, and we had such a great time. The blueberry wheat beer was amazing, super refreshing, and full of flavor. It was the perfect drink to enjoy while watching the game. The TVs and setup made it a great spot for sports, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for!! It was so FUN, welcoming, and full of SPORTS SWAG. The locals there were so nice, and you could tell they genuinely love this place, which says a lot. We ordered the pimento cheese and it was fantastic, creamy and flavorful, the perfect snack with a cold beer. Even though our Brewers lost that night, it was still an awesome experience, and we would definitely come back next time we are in town.

This seafood restaurant in Mount Pleasant is a great place for a quick bite. They have oysters for $1 during happy hour and various other specials, making it a great option for those on the go. The customer service is helpful and attentive, making it the perfect spot to go with friends or family.
When I first heard the name, I thought it might be some upscale snoot box place. But to my surprise it was actually very nice, clean, and a very down to earth place to eat. It gave me vibes like one of my favorite seafood places in NY the Boil. It's set up with all this aquatic decor which is great. They also had a bar which was set up pretty good. The place wasn't that big, but I find that to be common with GREAT seafood places that start out thinking there just good. But soon find out they blow up so big they need way more space to accommodate there customer overflow. Yes I said it...I can see Pier 41 as one of those places very soon. The customer service was fantastic. Funny thing is there was only the bartender, he did everything. This place was popping that nite. But he never left us unattended. He was definitely on his job. Now let's get to what your really checking in for.... the food. The menu is not that extensive, not yet, but just wait. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh. I'm surprised there were no signs posted about the food being brought in from the sea hours ago. Everything was cooked to perfection. The crab legs were tender and sweet. The shrimp were melt in your mouth tender. They had an appetizer called a crab cake corn dog. Sounds weird right...lol. There was no hotdogs or anything crazy like that. It was a crab cake on a stick. Real Crab Alert!!!!!!!!. Delicious.... we paired it with their delicious remoloude sauce. They have a delightful crab dip that they paired with toasted pretzels through the roof good. We enjoyed some Po'boys, seafood boils, and Gumbo. Everything was to perfection. If i had to critique anything about them...i would say...please put atleast a pinch of salt on everything. That's it... that is it. You want some great food, great drinks, great atmosphere to eat in with outstanding prices that are very budget friendly? Pier 41 is your place.

Pier 41 Oyster Bar – Mount Pleasant Had dinner at Pier 41 and it was excellent from start to finish. I ordered the lobster roll with coleslaw and started with two appetizers—the mussels and the crab dip. The mussels were served in a fennel and lemongrass broth that was fragrant, delicate, and absolutely delicious—perfect for soaking up with bread. The crab dip was surprisingly light, not overly rich, and had a fresh, clean flavor that let the crab really shine. The lobster roll was also a standout—simple, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted roll. The coleslaw added just the right amount of crunch and brightness on the side. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It's a great neighborhood seafood spot with a raw oyster bar and a coastal, laid-back vibe. I’ll definitely be back. — eating dinner at Pier 41.

Wow, what a great find! One of the best seafood platters we’ve ever had, anywhere. We shared it (two of us) and it was ample. Great, friendly staff, good beer and cocktails too. Wish we could come back soon. It traveling through and so glad we found this place. You can even see the delicious shrimp under everything else in the photo.

Super cute local spot. Situated on a corner with ample parking. Inside its a cozy vibe with an impressive happy hour menu and very friendly staff! The raw oysters were delicious and the beer on tap was cold. I'm looking forward to trying everything else on the menu! Thanks again 😃

Great seafood for a great value in a cozy restaurant and bar. The service was excellent. Taylor, our server was attentive and friendly. Even though she was crazy busy, she stopped at our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed. She’s a gem!

Decent happy hour worth going to for cheap drinks and small plates. While we were there we saw a few people getting buckets of oysters and shucking themselves which looked like a better alternative to some of the items we tried. It is a small place with just a few tables and pretty much every seat was filled for happy hour. Nothing blew our mind but nothing disappointed us either.
Sharlette C — Google review
We were looking for good seafood but a little cheaper than the "seaside" places. Not disappointed! Made happy hour and an extra special $1.00 each oysters. They were great. The fried and boiled seafood platters were great too. Our server, Ashley?? was awesome. We arrived at opening time and it got full fast. Very nice time, completely recommend Pier 41 in Mt Pleasant.
Jim W — Google review
The client service was excellent. It's funny since the bartender was the only one that did everything. That night, this area was booming. However, he never abandoned us. He was undoubtedly working. Let's go on to the main reason you are checking in: the food. Just wait; the menu isn't that extensive yet. The food was great. It was all so new. The fact that no signs were put about the food being carried in from the sea just hours before astonished me. It was all well cooked. Sweet and tender were the crab legs. The shrimp were so delicate that they melted in your tongue. They served crab cake corn dogs as an appetizer. Sounds strange, doesn't it? . No hotdogs or anything of the sort were available. On a stick, it was a crab cake. Alert: A Real Crab.... We coupled it with their delectable remoloude sauce, and it was fantastic. They have a delicious crab dip that goes really well with toasted pretzels. We savored gumbo, seafood boils, and po'boys. Everything was flawless. If I had to criticize them in any way, I would say to at least be cautious about everything. That's all there is to it. Do you want delicious cuisine, excellent beverages, a wonderful dining experience, and exceptional, reasonably priced prices? You're at Pier 41.

The menu showcases an enticing blend of approachable French cuisine infused with Asian flavors, reflecting Romo's extensive experience in fine dining.
Everything was excellent. “Naked Fish” dish and honey cake were amazing, and their drinks were great especially the “Tequila Salad”. Ambiance was relaxed and classy — perfect for dinner with my mom and aunt. Our server Shelly was phenomenal. If you’re someone who wants to get away from the chaos of King, and have a truly exceptional and enjoyable dinner this is your spot.

We were worried at first when the restaurant was slow on a Saturday night but it got bustling! The patio had heaters (and fans when it’s warm) so it was very comfortable but the interior is a better environment. The food was overall good, but standouts were the ravioli starter, apple tart and short rib entree.

Great food, service and atmosphere. The bartender was also our server and she did an amazing job. She gave us recommendations - the cheese spring rolls are delicious, curry crab soup a highlight, the burger and the scallops were solid and delightfully prepared. We finished with the table side crème brûlée. It was a wonderful meal and we’ll be back next time we’re in town!

We had an incredible experience with the chef's tasting menu — every course was thoughtful, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The wine pairings were spot on and really enhanced the flavors of each dish. What made the evening even more special was the personal touch: the chef came by after each course to check in and chat, which added such a warm, welcoming vibe. A big shoutout to the bartender as well — my friend wasn’t drinking, and she went above and beyond by crafting a unique mocktail pairing for each course. It was creative, flavorful, and just as carefully curated as the wine. From start to finish, the service was top-notch and the atmosphere was perfect. This was easily one of the best dinners I’ve had in Charleston in a long time. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! We went for the secret tasting menu and had a wonderful experience. Every course was delicious, flavorful, and unique. A special thanks to the bartender (sorry I didn’t catch your name) for making mocktails for me instead of wine. The one with coconut milk and tonic was just perfect! I’m already looking forward to coming back to try dishes from the regular menu.

Celebrated our last night in Charleston at Bistronomy. We got the bone marrow, escargot, tartare, scallops and crème brûlée. Scallops (especially the coconut rice) and flavored-packed escargot were favorites. The only slight let down was the crème brûlée - sugar top was a little too burnt. Still very much recommend!

The restaurant features a full kids menu with options like mac & cheese, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, fries, peanut butter mini pies and banana pudding.
We had a fantastic experience at Islander 71 during our recent visit to Isle of Palms. From the moment we arrived, the lively, upbeat atmosphere set the tone for a great evening. The views and vibe perfectly captured that relaxed coastal charm. The Flounder Sandwich was absolutely delicious — fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crisp. It was easily a highlight of the meal. We also tried the She Crab Soup, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor — a definite must-order. The frozen drink was top-notch and hit the spot on a warm evening. Service was excellent, and we want to give a special shoutout to our waiter Sam B., who was friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. Highly recommend Islander 71 for anyone looking for great food, strong drinks, and a fun atmosphere by the water. We’ll definitely be back!

Wanted to give five stars. Just couldn't. Been coming to this restaurant for years and years when I come back to the Isle. The view of the marina is stunning. The food was fabulous. So why four stars? (1) There's not a lot of selection, menu is small. (2) I was absolutely unable to get my water refilled in 90 minutes. (3) Having reservations, and with the restaurant not being 'conpletely' full, there is no way that the parking lot should be completely full. It's one thing to have signs indicating which parking is yours, but without any enforcement, actual patrons are forced to walk from the paid parking at the marina... Not the greatest experience.

Pulled up in the boat for the 1st time. Great oysters & good. The salmon BLT was amazing. They were out of the fried saltines, which was a bummer because we wanted to try those, but otherwise everything was really good.

We were set to sit in the main dining room, but waited upstairs to wait for our table. They serve a different menu on the top deck. The food was great and the views were outstanding. It was a great evening, and being outside was perfect. The fish sandwich is the real deal. Look forward to going back.

I have seen Islander 71 on IG and have really been wanting to check it out. This place is back in the CUT! The drive is pretty as you do cut through a neighborhood to get to it. Once you arrive, the parking lot is huge and the parking is free and they do have valet available. We had reservations for inside but we ended up sitting outside instead as it was a bit chilly inside. Had we realized the menu inside was a bit different than the menu for the outside area, we would have requested a different table. The interior was beautiful and well put together. The outside has beautiful views of the water and they also have an astroturfed area where you can play a little corn hole and they have a stage for a live band. Plenty of seating available. For the food, I had the seared Ahi tuna sandwich w/ the risotto Saladin the side (I’ve never had tuna like this before so my first impression was that I needed to get used to it but the flavor was there and it was cooked well) and it looked great! We got the fries with the she crab soup drizzled over them and those were delicious (who would have thought that would have been a tasty combination?) We did get a separate order of the she crab soup and that was fantastic. There were plenty of good sized clumps of crab meat and it was flavorful and creamy. We will definitely be back to visit soon!

Stopped in for lunch before heading to the beach and it hit the mark perfectly. I went early enough to avoid the crowds, so no reservation was needed but I can definitely see this place filling up for dinner or weekend brunch, so plan ahead. They were running a special on bottles of wine, which made it easy to say yes. My partner had the broiled oysters and couldn’t stop talking about them. I ordered the street corn salad with chicken, and it was exactly what I needed fresh, filling, and flavorful. The space is well-designed with a breezy, coastal vibe that fits the location. Whether you’re fueling up before a beach day or winding down after one, The Longboard is worth a visit.

Fun spot. We sat at the bar and had very nice service. Nice wine and cocktail choices. Menu had a lot of items that we wanted to order but for tonight we chose the charred Romain lettuce, the seared yellow fin tuna, and the pork chop. And to finish, the coconut crème brûlée and pain killer shots (because we saw people ordering them and they looked yummy!) Everything had great presentation and very nice flavors. The painkiller shots were as good as they looked. We were very happy! We will be back

My wife and I chose The Longboard for our date night last night and I am so glad we did! We walked in without a reservation and waited at the bar for about 15 minutes for a table. The bartender was super friendly and answered the few questions we had about the menu. The restaurant is very nice inside and out and we loved the style and atmosphere of it all. When we sat at our table we were greeted immediately by our server, Caroline. Caroline was very sweet and courteous throughout our meal. Everything that we ordered was delicious! This was our first time dining at The Longboard but it will definitely not be our last! Thank you for an amazing time on our very coveted date night!

Loved by entire family with teens. Two of us had tuna poke bowls (out of this work but tell them go lite on soy sauce and bring on side instead), seared yellow fin tuna and pad Thai chicken. Our favorite app out of 3 was the corn salad. Desserts a little disappointing, the coconut creme brulee was very dry oddly, the cookie skillet dessert was enjoyed. Would definitely go back!

I just had my first visit here. I sat at the bar and had Steve as my bartender. He was great! He made delicious drinks and he suggested the tuna wrap. I got it without the mango…. it was amazing!! I also had one of the mocktails with vodka, it was also delicious! I hope many people get the pleasure of having him as their bartender when they visit. He was so pleasant and made the experience there very enjoyable! I can’t wait to go back and try something new!

Cute place has a lot of seating options, sort of beachy but don't get fooled into thinking it's "on the beach" it's a good 10 min walk. The servers were friendly but seemed understaffed for the amount of people there at lunch time. The food was solid with no complaints but a little pricey for lunch almost $100 for 3 people.

I hate that I have to write this review because we love this place but...My boyfriend ordered a bowl paid extra for avocado which ended up being rotten. He didn’t want to complain but this is unacceptable and gross, especially since one of the employees was screaming about how they were out of avocado to one of their friends who was a customer, which clearly meant they were aware that this avocados were bad but proceeded to still use them. :( we love this place and my chicken burrito was really good, but today we’re so disappointed.

Special shoutout to all the servers who were here at this outlet when we visited at 1PM on a Tuesday today, who were so sweet and patient to take 3 of our build your own bowl customisation orders manually at the counter, as we didn’t bring a physical card to order at the self-service kiosk :”) the servers were all so sweet, and the 2x build your own poke bowl and 1x build your own acai bowl we ordered tasted so hearty and delicious too! would definitely recommend the tofu as a great vegetarian protein option. Will surely revisit again! ☺️

I ordered on uber eats and I ordered the avocado toast. The store called me to let me know that they ran out of avocado and offered Nutella toast as a substitute. I agreed to substituting. When my order arrived, they took the time to write a hand written note AND gave me TWO extra smoothies. The customer service is PHENOMENAL. I’m a forever customer! Whoever is on staff today needs to be highly praised 😊 thank you!!!

Great place to go for a quick bite. The acai bowls were fantastic - I really like whatever granola they use, and the acai base is delicious. (I ordered The Patriot) I also tried one of the build your own poke bowls. Loved it, too. All the ingredients are fresh and it only takes them a couple minutes to prepare.

I often do the BYOB or “The OG” and add a lot of toppings. Very very delicious and they’ve never done me wrong with the amount of ingredients added. My bowl has always been filled to the the brim. For those who don’t like fish/seafood definitely try the Hot and Spicy Chicken as your protein!I’ve tried the smoothies many times but the consistency is always too thick for my taste & makes it difficult to drink. What bumped this review a star is the customer service. There are a few employees who I would give five stars for their amazing customer service for a majority of the times it’s the bare minimum. I think the customer service at this place in general can be improved through training and some very simple suggestions. I feel it’s not a big priority here but I’m sure it would make a very positive impact if it’s given more focus.

Nestled in the heart of Charleston, Pink Cactus is a delightful gem that brings the vibrant flavors of Oaxaca, Mexico to life. This charming eatery may appear modest from the outside, with its patio cleverly situated among parking spaces, but don’t let that fool you—the food is nothing short of spectacular.
We made a reservation here for my best friend’s bachelorette trip. It was such a fun experience! Great food, pink margaritas, & amazing service!!!

The bartender was really nice. The drinks were standard. As far as food, I can’t comment on the tacos, but the chips have a good seasoning on them. The little patio outside is cute with the string lights and great for dining when the weather is pleasant.

the food and cocktails here are amazing. everything is so flavorful and authentic. the coconut margarita might be my favorite drink in Charleston. Great vibes and even better food. I highly recommend pink cactus!

Fantastic five star tacos! The owner was gracious and took great care of me. Highly recommend and I’m a snob when it comes to good tacos.

A fun lunch spot. Had the birria tacos on a Thursday. They were made with ground beef instead of shredded but the flavor was good. The cheese dip had pepitas in it and we loved it!

This place was a surprise. The visit started with Dio de los Muertos black margaritas for $5...and they were quite good. It was VERY loud inside so we sat outside...a little cold but, pick your battles. After we dove into our 2nd drinks the food came. Wow, delicious! Super flavorful and we'll prepared.

Had an awesome happy hour experience at the pink cactus this past week! I went with a group of friends after work and we got the spicy margaritas as well as the queso for the table. You really can’t get better than five dollars for food and reduced price margaritas after work!!! Great casual spot for drinks and yummy appetizers in Charleston!

Cute corky place to eat at. Service was good and so was food. Wish we could try their ceviche and but by 7:30 pm they ran out of few staples and closed early. Pink cactus lemonade was good. Place has a nice vibe. We only sat outside so I am not sure how inside is. Pink cactus decor outside was super cute.

Sullivan's Fish Camp is a charming restaurant located in Sullivan's Island, offering generous portions of seafood and casual fare in a bustling setting. The eatery exudes a nostalgic ambiance reminiscent of a bygone fish camp era, complete with wood-paneled interiors and tiki drink vibes. The menu features crispy fried shrimp, killer fish sandwiches, rotating specials, tempura tuna appetizers, fresh salads, crudo, and seafood towers.
It was a bit loud inside BUT Catch of the day, Grouper and Flounder. Phenomenal, especially Flounder with creamy butter crab. Insanely delicious! Also roasted bell peppers flavorful and yummy. Great experience!

So good!! This was our first e we trying oysters!! And it was so good! The staff were amazing and very attentive! I was impressed! Super busy but worth the wait.

We both had lobster rolls which we thoroughly enjoyed. The lobster itself was perfectly buttery and sweet. The roll was the exact same, complimenting the lobster nicely while leaving it as the highlight. Getting fries instead of chips was only a minimal upcharge and very worth it - their saltiness was a nice way to balance out the lobster roll. We parked conveniently and freely at the Battery Thompson.

We’ve loved this restaurant for years — it’s been one of our favorite local spots, not just for the excellent food, but for the way it always felt connected to the community. The new ownership and Chef Jason Stanhope are clearly bringing talent and vision to the table — the food is still fantastic and we’re excited to see where things go. That said, we are really disappointed that the beloved Monday night half-priced burgers and half-off bottle wine have been discontinued. For so many locals, that tradition was more than just a deal — it was a weekly ritual that made us feel seen and appreciated as regulars. It gave the place Sullivans Island heart and accessibility, and kept it from drifting into the “downtown Charleston exclusivity” zone. We hope the new team will consider bringing back some version of the Monday night local special — it was a smart and generous way to keep your loyal local base coming back, and feeling like we still have a seat at the table. Please don’t lose that connection in the pursuit of reinvention. We’ll be back — but we hope to feel the love back, too.

Maya is a popular restaurant located in downtown Charleston, offering mostly gluten-free options with strict safety protocols for those with celiac disease. The upscale eatery also caters to vegans with plant-based seafood alternatives like jackfruit tacos. It's known for its vibrant atmosphere and coastal-inspired elevated Mexican dishes. Maya is a great spot for nightlife and brunch, featuring flavorful food and perfect margaritas. Reservations are recommended, especially if you want to enjoy the patio seating.
This was our 3rd time to Maya tonight. 1st time was a year ago, recommended by a flight attendant friend. It was our anniversary and the complimentary champagne was SO kind. 2nd time was a group of 10 for a friend's birthday. We reserved for when they opened so we wouldn't be in the way for their prime dinner rush. All the staff were so sweet and gave the birthday human great treatment! Now on our anniversary again we couldn't help but come back! A now-tradition perhaps. The happy hour is excellent, all food and beverage from scratch and SO full flavored. But again it's the service that puts Maya above.. truly genuinely quality staff that has been hard to find in Charleston the last few years. Tonight was Cassandra, and I'm sorry I didn't remember the names of the previous 2 but props to them as well. Love y'all!

I can confidently say that Maya is the best dining experience I have ever had! We made a reservation and mentioned it was for a bachelorette trip and the staff at Maya created an entire EXPERIENCE. We had customized menus, the table was decorated, and we even got complimentary shots and dessert. Not to mention, the food was INCREDIBLE! I had the garlic chicken enchiladas and I have been dreaming about them ever since. The best part of the dining experience was by far our waiter, Tyler. He was very attentive to any dietary restrictions/allergies we had, made amazing recommendations, and overall went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience. This man deserves a raise and a promotion!! Overall, this restaurant is a MUST GO if you’re in the Charleston area.

Best mexican food we’ve ever had. We got the Maya burrito and the crunch wrap which were both amazing! Our drinks were really good and pretty cheap for Charleston. Our server Libby (I think) was amazing and brought out a slice of cake on the house for my birthday. The atmosphere was that of fine dining but the prices were fair. It was overall an amazing experience and we will 100% be back.

A spacious, upscale, Mexican food restaurant in a busy touristy part of downtown. There is a dining room and partially covered patio, with a nice seating nook near the traditional outside wood stove. The food we picked was aimed to try their point of taste on fresh local seafood. And it was definitely fresh and fool of flavor. My cocktail was refreshing and balanced. Special thanks to the chef who came to welcome us. Servise was attentive and quick. Clean and neat dining rooms and the bathroom. The only hiccups were the choice of initial sitting: on a hot afternoon, in the patio's sunniest spot. Were were dressed up for the dinner and would be more comfortable in the air-conditioned setting. When I asked for another table (the patio was empty and so the air-conditioned dining room) my request was accommodated right away to the table under the patio's roof, at least. Unfortunately, the table was wobbling on its legs, which was quiet annoying, a second hiccup. There were no extra napkins for a quick fix. We choose not to bring it up and watch staff's reaction. They seems to be not paying attention or not being bothered enough to fix it for us. The third hiccup was the limited choice of fresh seafood dishes. I understand the main focus on Mexican/Latino cuisine, but, surely, there is wealth of traditional recipes to celebrate the abundance of local catch.

Gave this a try for happy hour and specifically wanted the patio. It was very nice and relaxing. The mango-Chile margaritas were wonderful! Loved the popcorn…excellent queso…and the brisket tacos were superb! The black beans were very flavorful and a really big portion as a side, definitely enough for two. Would definitely come back and try more!

Ordered the Brussels sprouts, double smash burger and crunch wrap. Brussel sprouts were incredible! So much flavor and lots of crunch I highly recommend you get these. The burger was hearty and a pleasant surprise from a Mexican place. Lots of sauce and flavor. The crunch wrap was tasty but needed a better sauce. Fun spin off of a Taco Bell favorite. Margaritas were also good and strong. Good date night option for a local. If your looking for a true foodie experience there are better option in Charleston but be prepared to pay for it. This place is reasonably priced

Nestled in a vibrant warehouse district alongside a brewery and tech companies, Rancho Lewis is a delightful Tex-Mex cantina that tantalizes the senses with the aroma of sizzling steak and fresh corn tortillas. This charming eatery on King Street in Charleston showcases an impressive menu inspired by the rich culinary traditions of West Texas, Chihuahua, Mexico, and New Mexico.
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Rancho Lewis before! I’ve been there so many times! My favorite time to stop by is for lunch, though. The lunch break fajitas are my favorite - it’s such a wonderful deal! Honestly, it could be the best steak I’ve ever had. I would recommend Rancho Lewis over and over again!

Fun location for a restaurant, great atmosphere. The food overall is pretty good but the steak was amazing- flavorful, melt in your mouth delicious. We sat outside around sunset, it got a little buggy but it was a nice experience. The spicy mango margarita was yummy and our service was great. Thanks for a cool experience.

The primary adjective I would choose for the cuisine at Rancho Lewis is HEARTY. The service was exceptional and the venue is lovely. Quick for us to get a table around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. I want to come back and try some lighter fare, but my husband definitely won the clean plate award.

We had a big family dinner at Rancho Lewis and it couldn’t have been better! The staff handled our large group with ease, keeping drinks full and the chips and salsa flowing. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of that authentic Tex-Mex charm—plus the artwork and decor made for the perfect backdrop for photos. Every plate at our table looked amazing, from tacos and fajitas to burgers and ribs. The flavors were spot-on and portions generous. You can tell everything’s made fresh and served with pride. If you’re in Charleston and want great food, friendly service, and a place that can handle a crowd while still feeling welcoming, Rancho Lewis is the spot. Highly recommend for families, groups, or anyone who loves great Tex-Mex! 🌮🌵

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my third visit to Rancho Lewis, and I really wanted to love it since I’m a huge fan of Lewis Barbecue! We were actually on our way there but couldn’t wait in the hour-plus line with our little ones, so we decided to stop here instead. Rancho Lewis has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful décor, even though the area around it is currently under construction. The restaurant was packed, but the wait time wasn’t long, which was great. My wedge salad with steak protein was just okay — nothing special this time. The biggest disappointment was the very limited kids’ menu. The only options were a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, or chicken tenders. With two kids who are gluten-free, what they really wanted was a simple beef and cheese taco, which unfortunately wasn’t available unless we ordered a $22 steak taco off the main menu. Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, and I’ll give it another try down the road. Follow me on Instagram @holycityfitblonde for more great reviews on restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and much more!

One of our favourite place to go for a group. It’s welcoming, spacious, friendly ambiance. Start at the bar before the meals! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating space. Best to have reservations especially at busy hours and weekends since it can get really busy.

Was super excited for the beef ribs, but they were just kind of ok…wasn’t prepared for the huge portion either! Friend said his beef enchiladas were just ok…nachos were good, I liked how they were individually portioned. Server was not the friendliest… I would try again one more time tho and hope for the best.

As a Texan, I have high standards for BBQ and Mexican food, and this place nailed both. The Queso Asado was delicious, the homemade tortillas were fresh, and the beef back ribs were tender and full of flavor. The margarita was perfect, too. I also loved the mix of country and Mexican music—it felt like home. Everything was perfectly priced. Great food, great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Herd Provisions is a unique combination of a restaurant and whole animal butcher shop, sourcing its meat from owner Alec Bradford's Leaping Water Farm in Virginia. The restaurant prides itself on offering high-quality, traceable meats, particularly 100% grass-fed White Park cattle. In addition to serving delectable meals, the establishment also operates as a butcher and provisions shop, providing frozen cuts, local cheeses, and carefully selected wines.
I hosted a birthday dinner on their patio this past weekend and was beyond happy with the level of service, attention to detail, cuisine, wine, and hospitality of their entire team. The service was nothing short of exceptional. A special shout-out to our server who was incredibly attentive (remembered what all 20 of our guests were drinking) without being intrusive. They anticipated our needs perfectly, making sure our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed at all times. The Chefs behind the magic truly outdid themselves. Each dish was a masterpiece and beautifully presented. Everyone at our table raved about the food and that became the topic of the evening. The attention to detail was evident not just in the food but in the overall dining atmosphere. The ambiance was cozy yet elegant, with just the right amount of lighting to make everything feel special. Herd is a gem that I can’t recommend highly enough, especially for a private buyout of their patio. If you're looking for a place that combines delicious food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further. Thank you, Ethan, Alec, Laina, and our wonderful server, for making our evening unforgettable!

We came here around 5:30 on Saturday night and didn't have a reservation but we were able to get seated right away on the patio. We live nearby and have been wanting to check this place out for a very long time! They had bug spray sitting out for us to use which was great there's a lot of no see ums right now! We didn't get a burger menu and didn't know we had to ask for one until we had already ordered. It was our first time coming here. There was only one server for the patio and she was quite busy! We did get a cocktail and a glass of wine which was good. You do have to order all of your food at once. We started off with the poutine and it was super tasty! I honestly wish we had stopped there because the rest of our meal wasn't so good. My bf ordered the duck which was poorly cooked, had a super strong pungent sour and vinegar flavor and was too tough to eat. The server did come by once right after we got our food and we haven't had a chance to really eat so we didn't have any feedback at that time. We took two bites of the duck and moved on. We also had the sweet potatoes which had an over the top inedible sweet and salty flavor. They also had very vinegar tasting pecans and an off tasting sauce in the dish. Again, took a bite and gave up. I also ordered the pan seared fish which was also covered in vinegar and very hard to eat. We told the server that our food wasn't edible and only took a few small bites total. She said she wished she knew earlier. Another worker came by to offer us dessert but it had been 2 hours and we were tired. I have worked on the service industry for many years and hate to complain but this was so sad. I've never been so dissatisfied and disappointed in a restaurant in my life. From the bad food to the bad service I won't be back. We spent with tip over $140 to only eat poutine and have a drink.

We had a wonderful experience at Herd Provisions. If you like aged steak, you won’t find a better one anywhere else! The tallow fries and roasted mushrooms were phenomenal…so was the cheesecake. We took a whipped ricotta to go for breakfast. Special shout out to our waitress Ava for her incredible hospitality, and thanks to Kennedy for the superior customer service! Very nice and quiet place with live music on the patio where I sat. Food was great. I had the 16oz Ribeye with add on fish that was Rock fish. Steak cooked how I wanted it. It had a couple sauces with it. Rock fish was very tender and juicy. Side was asparagus. My Waitress was Ava and she was very nice and attentive. Glad I found this place for my last night visiting.

We loved it! Everything was either excellent or very good. The cocktails were great - one of them was in our top 3 favorite of all time. Soy marinated duck with a blueberry umami sauce and duck confit hash was delicious. Pork chop was done perfectly. The summer corn salad was tasty. Service was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was lovely. There is a parking lot right across the street.

Love these guys, but a recent bummer. Herd has great food, and perhaps the best burger in town. The staff is outstanding, simply the best. Food? Both the pork chop and the steak are outstanding. We were heading there once a week. Strong cocktail game, and although the wine list isn’t extensive it is super well curated. You know that burger I mentioned? If you want their signature Herd Burger, you have to sit at the kids table in the front segregated from the rest of the diners. You can get a $34 monster at the grown-ups table. So we’ve started skipping and choosing another option. It’s a bit of a heartbreak, because like I said we really love the joint and especially all of our friends on the staff. -George

The Porchetta Shop in Charleston is a must-visit for an authentic Italian dining experience. The shop offers superbly handcrafted sandwiches, such as porchetta, prime rib, and eggplant, all served with high-quality bread and Italian cuts of meat. The Rotisserie Drippings Roasted Potatoes are a perfect match to the sandwiches. The no-frills service and standing-only space add to the charm of this classic Tuscan sandwich spot.
Wow, bloody wow. I think I might just have had the best porchetta sandwich in my life. Have heard so many good things about this place and the reels on Facebook looked absolutely amazing. This place definitely delivers. The sandwiches are huge and can definitely be shared with two people. They have a huge variety that it’s hard to choose. They even have craft beers 🍻. What ? 😳 Walked out of this place with a circus in my mouth. The service was incredible too. What an experience, what a treat. Highly recommend. 3 Thumbs Up & 5 Stars from the Mrs & I.

Cute hidden gem downtown. We’ve passed this place too many times to count and I’m so happy we finally planned a late lunch here. The decor inside is very pub like and adorable. The team was friendly and efficient with orders. We order the Italian to split. The ingredients were so fresh and the bread…delish! Definitely will return again.

This place was a madhouse on a Saturday afternoon, but for very good reason. The setup is a bit disorientating at first, but makes sense; you order at the glass first, where they’re making the sandwiches, get a ticket to pay at the register, and then wait anywhere you can stand. Dining is standing room only as well, but we did choose to dine in. The bread used for the sandwiches is an incredible focaccia, golden crisp but soft on the inside. The ingredients are fresh: tomato, basil, olive oil, pear, pesto, and mozzarella. The prosciutto is cut while you watch on an old fashioned crank driven deli slicer. The staff is working over time serving up dozens of sandwiches including their porchetta with horseradish. We topped it off with some cannoli and Peligrino. Everyone was very polite (customers and staff), and the management did check to ensure you were enjoying the food if you decided to dine in.

This place was recommended by a friend of mine. First is parking, good luck. If you call they can't really help, since I did call to ask as charelston parking is tricky. You may get lucky and find a spot on the street otherwise no idea where a free or pay parking lot is located. Next service was ok. Not super friendly and if you ask questions they are kind of vague. I asked about the dipping sauce a friend recommended and was told 1 sandwich would come with it, come to find out that was the wrong one and ended up having to pay almost $3 for the sauce so I could try it. Price, is middle of the road. It isnt a bad price for the amount of food you are getting. The sandwich is latge. Bread is very good and it taste alright. Nothing id go a second time to get or crave on a random day. But it isnt terrible and is a good meal when raining. Atmosphere, very cute and it gives that "European" feel, as does the service. So that aspect hits it right out the park for if you want "an experience". They have no indoor seating or stools so quick bite or take it to go. The desert, the cannoli is like any other cannoli you'd get at a local pizza bar. Now they DID have some Italian chocolates that were divine and to me took this place from a 3 star to a 4 star. I've found these online and ordered them in bulk. Overall though cute place, iffy service, decent food, not a place I'd head to regularly.

Been here a few times now, never disappointed. The bread it's crusty, but soft on the inside, they are using quality meats, and the drinks menu it's got a great selection. Could be pretty crowded at times, not a lot of room for inside dining, but definitely worth the wait. I would recommend if you like real Italian sandwiches, not Italian subs.

I didn’t even know gourmet Italian rotisserie sandwich shops were a thing! This place is great! Food is over the top amazing. Espresso is excellent. Staff are super friendly and engaging and really know the menu. I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because there is no seating (it’s a stand and eat kind of place) I guess because it’s a small place. And the location feels like it’s not close to anything else and in a mildly sketchy looking area. Otherwise amazing.

DRY sandwich! Bread to meat and topping ratio is way off and it was missing the pickled cherry peppers that were listed on the menu. There’s only 2 types of milk for your coffee- skim and oat. No friendly greeting when you walk in. Maybe only the Porchetta sandwiches are good, I don’t know but I wish I bought lunch elsewhere.

Beautiful South by Kwei Fei is a charming spot with delicious Chinese food served in generous portions. The menu offers a variety of familiar favorites like dumplings, Mongolian beef, and General Tso's chicken, but with an elevated taste that surpasses typical takeout. The family-style dining encourages sharing and trying multiple dishes, including small plates, large plates, and vegetable sides.
This is a hidden gem for us. We visit Charleston several times a year and always look for new places to try. This was our first visit to Beautiful South but will not be our last. We went for lunch right as they opened. The hostess, bartender, and chef were all apart of our dining experience and we loved every moment. We ordered the Shanghai Style Cucumbers (MY FAVORITE), Special Beef Dumplings, Black Pepper Beef (SECOND FAVORITE), and Sweet and Sour Pork. We took our time and enjoyed the meal and conversation with the staff. The vibe was light hearted and there was some really good music in the background. We can't wait to come back and I'll be craving those Cucumbers until the next time! Thank you for celebrating our anniversary with us!

A restaurant that plays an ode to American Chinese food. Went there for the lunch dim sum special only on Sundays. The ambience is truly amazing, I can tell they paid a lot of attention to detail. While the decorations are traditional Chinese the food is not. The food was generally average. The char siu is good, I prefer pork to be slightly more tender. Having the pork dumplings swimming in the black vinegar was certainly an interesting choice as it completely took over the flavour. It was odd that we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated when the restaurant was so empty (only 4 other people in 2 tables in the entire restaurant). The dim sum portions were small as expected but smaller than average, which was disappointing to a lunch with some good elements. Of note - they charge everyone a 3% service charge, to cover medical coverage for their employees.

Beautiful South by Kwei Fei is a must visit! The menu blends bold south of the Yangtze flavors with the comfort of American style Chinese classics, and every bite was fantastic. The highlight for me was the Crab Rangoon — served in a creative deconstructed style, perfectly crispy, and hands down the best I’ve ever had. The dry rubbed ribs, General Tso’s Chicken, and char siu pork lo mein were all fresh and flavorful. They also have a great mocktail selection. I loved the Foshan and This Side of Paradise. The atmosphere is fun, the staff is friendly, and the food quality is outstanding!

Pretty good meal all told, the majority of it I had the restaurant by myself. I went for lunch, was quickly seated by a manager then I tried to order one of their teas but server said they were out so changed to a Coke. I started with the noodles, which I assumed were going to be warm but were served cold so after the shock to my mouth they were actually really good and full of flavor. By contrast The rice was served HOT like steaming hot but once it cooled the fried rice was very tasty but the pork stole the show it was tender and was delicious. I will definitely be back but think we will try dinner next time!

The team was very accommodating due to the fact that we had 3 unexpected flight delays. Once we arrived, we were able i enjoy a nice intimate birthday dinner. Morgan was our server. She was attentive. She anticipated our wants before we asked. 10/10 recommend. It was our first visit but it won’t be our last.

Always a wonderful meal, great service, and excellent food. We love the Dim Sum on Sundays and the Happy Hour specials. Creative, tasty cocktails and the menus refreshes often.
Brian H — Google review
What can I say about this place? It’s absolutely incredible. It’s always my first stop when I have guests in town! Their happy hour is unreal! The exceptional service starts the moment you walk in the door. You’re always greeted with genuine hospitality and warmth. I had a reservation time mix up on my end and they went above and beyond to accommodate me and my group of friends. The bartenders make the best cocktails, try the black tea espresso martini! Or the pictured KOSMOS martini! The food is absolutely incredible whether it’s the regular menu or the dim sum menu you can’t go wrong. My best friend and I dream about the crab Rangoon dish 🤤 The waitstaff always take such good care of us and always help guide us to dishes we might like/ trying something new. Nik stopped by the bar when we were there and gave us more background about the restaurant and their food and drink items. We were really impressed! Overall 10/10 recommend this is a must do in Charleston!

Bar167 is a bustling Mediterranean-inspired tapas bar in Charleston, known for its great food and lively atmosphere. The menu features fresh fish, house-made cheese, and cold G&Ts. Visitors recommend trying the house-made cavatelli with crab and the swordfish sandwich, as well as the focaccia and stracciatella add-on. The bar offers unique and well-balanced drinks, with a special mention of their homemade mixers.
Stellar lunch spot!!! We stopped by here on a recommendation and i’m so glad we did! We had a bit of a small wait but it was no issue- we shopped around at nearby stores. We sat at the bar (which is stunning by the way) and had great service. I tried a few oysters (delicious) and we got the calamari to start. May have been some of the freshest calamari I’ve had in my life (and I grew up on the coast of NC). Very impressed. Also tried the crab roll and that was great as well!! Can’t emphasize enough how great their cocktails were. We both tried a few and even had to ask for the recipe for one of them! Definitely a spot you want to try!

One of the best meals I’ve tried in Charleston, if not the best. We were there just for an appetizer—the octopus—but it was so excellent that we also ordered a main course: an incredibly juicy burger. Highly recommended! I rarely give a 5/5!
Ilaria D — Google review
We absolutely loved our experience here! This will now be a must-visit spot every time we come to town. They truly serve the best cocktails in town, and a huge shout-out to the bartender downstairs who is awesome and clearly a master of their craft! The food was equally incredible. The Lamb Kebabs were absolutely delicious—tender lamb paired with perfectly crispy rice made the entire dish a winner. Adding the truffle fries on the side was the perfect indulgence! To start, the oysters were also super fresh. A phenomenal meal with top-tier drinks and service. Highly recommended!

This is a great spot if you’re waiting to dine at their sister restaurant. Unfortunately, I booked a reservation on Resy, thinking they had actually opened another proper restaurant. I thought it was a little odd that there were so many open tables. But it’s because the food menu is very limited, since this place is mainly used as a bar for people waiting to dine at 167Raw. The food was very good! We had a wonderful seafood pasta and a burger. We had the calamari as well and it was just your basic calamari. Nothing to get excited about. It was our only night in the city, since we were in town to spend the week at IOP. And I usually love trying a new, fine dining establishment when we’re in town. But I’ve always been a huge 167 fan and got so excited that they had a new spot. A bit bummed that it wasn’t a full restaurant. But our server was great! And the food was very good.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre had a fabulous afternoon experience downtown after the Van Gogh/Monet exhibit. The Food: We started with some top shelf blonde oysters from the PEI area. The calamari was cooked just right in a light and fresh coating. Brandon our bartender recommended the market fish (grouper) that was served over couscous and cooked to perfection. Enjoyed a bottle of bubbles “Haton” that was good tasting, crisp and clean. Atmosphere: Super cool vibe and awesome second level bar area…this spot was the old “Fulton Five” with a totally new vibe!!! We had awesome seats in front of the raw bar and love seeing all the action!!! SERVICE: Brandon was spot on with suggestions and knows his way around the menu. VERDICT: Guilty as sin for doing it all right…can’t wait to return for the lamb skewers and fried mushrooms!!!
Brian C — Google review
Wonderful experience, we tried to go to the original but the wait was 3 hours so we stumbled upon their sister location. The ambiance was amazing giving Greece vibes/ mama Mia: drinks food and oysters amazing!!!
Kathleen B — Google review
We made a reservation for my best friend’s bachelorette trip. The oysters, cocktails and service were AMAZING! Truffle fries are also a great choice!
Dara P — Google review
Wooof. Everything was good. Service was great. The price is not justified. $4 a shuck is almost double the city average and the oysters are just as good around town. The chicken gyro was a ton of food but I’d say it was, “good.” My biggest beef was the truffle fries. They were really good and I love thin fries but $7 upcharge for a dish that I couldn’t identify a single truffle in or on was rough. Again. Overall decent spot with excellent service but the value isn’t here.

During my recent culinary exploration, I stumbled upon King Street Foods, and it was a delightful surprise! This cozy spot offers an inviting atmosphere with around twenty tables, perfect for a casual dining experience. The menu features fresh sushi that boasts an impressive rice-to-fish ratio—think large pieces of fish paired with delicate rice. I also enjoyed their vibrant green salad topped with ginger dressing, which was both refreshing and generous in portion size.
Great Thai Spot in Charleston! The chicken basil (kra pao) was super tasty, the drunken noodles were delicious, and the fried rice was full of flavor. The green curry was just okay, but the sushi surprisingly turned out really good too! The service was excellent. They are very friendly and welcoming. The place is clean with a nice atmosphere. If you’re craving Thai food in Charleston, definitely check this place out!

We came during lunchtime expecting a wait but when we opened the door there was nobody else eating, which obviously I red flag when eating on a beautiful sunny day in Charleston. Anyway we decided to go in and try it out. I am glad we did as it was very good food and the service was great.
Richard K — Google review
What a delight finding this please. it offers a range of Asian food but I had the Tonkatsu Pork Ramen. It was really tasty and had a generous serving of pork. A couple of dashes of chilli powder made it perfect for me. Service was exemplary.
Ivan T — Google review
My husband and I stopped in for a late night dinner. We were stunned by how big the sushi roll was as most rolls I’ve seen are puny. It was incredibly delicious and the perfect amount for the both of us!! The prices are very reasonable too and it tasted so fresh. It’s great bang for your buck. We will likely drop by again before we head back home to Texas!
Christina — Google review
I was looking for a sushi dinner and usually shy away from mixed nationality restaurants when good sushi is my goal. That said, I tried King Street Foods due to all the positive reviews and was very happy with everything I experienced. Green salad with ginger dressing was very fresh and large. Sushi was fresh and had a great rice to fish ratio, meaning fish pieces were large and rice was skinny. The service was great! As to the atmosphere, it is an informal smallish venue. Maybe twenty tables. They do have a 7 seat bar, with full bar offerings...thumbs up! I didn't go for the atmosphere, so it wasn't important to me. Everything was very clean and the servers were very good about cleaning up after patrons departed. The couple next to me at the bar seemed to enjoy their hibachi. I only ate the sushi option, which was great!

We had ramen and sushi here with a group of friends — everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were on point, portions generous, and the vibe of the place was really chill and welcoming. Service was quick and friendly too. If you’re in Charleston and craving sushi or ramen — this is the spot. We loved it!

This place is absolutely magnificent. The food is fresh, tasty and the employees here are so kind & helpful. My husband and I come here every year as tradition. Totally recommend it! Plz support them. The chicken wings are complete fire and fresh, the sweet and savory seasoning/batter is amazing. And the Pineapple fried rice is one of a kind and delicious. Thank you!

Our server Sammy was super sweet! Salmon sashimi was super fresh and delightful! My son loved his chicken pad Thai. We enjoyed our tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and avocado roll as well. Nice presentation and all dishes were delicious. We will have to return to Charleston, SC to try their signature bingsu shaved iced next time! Highly recommend if you are looking for good sushi and some Thai food!

Lounge
Bar Mash is a charming cocktail lounge located on East Bay Street, housed in a restored Cigar Factory. The venue offers a laid-back atmosphere with an industrial vibe, making it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy drinks with friends. The bar boasts an extensive collection of American whiskeys and beers, featuring about 150 bottles dominated by American whiskey, particularly bourbon. Guests can engage in friendly games of shuffleboard and bocce while sipping on their favorite dram.
Plenty of parking which is key for downtown. Good vibes and plenty of room inside and outside. I didn’t drink anything tonight so I can’t touch on that. The food was good. They have a meat heavy menu, and don’t have much for those with dietary restrictions (like Gf), which is something I think they could improve on if they wanted. I got the fish tacos and fries (both good). I’d go again, more so to drink and have a small side dish, which I think is the purpose of the bar and they do it well.

Loved this place's vibe. Went on a Monday night for the live music (jazz), which was outstanding. Got the meatloaf sandwich. Different, great, though what looked like a blue tape label (like to identify the meatloaf in the fridge/freezer) ended up in my meal. It was easily recoverable/removable, and the customer correction by the staff was outstanding. In fact, the staff overall was outstanding. Even ended up going for a couple of drinks the next night. Highly recommend!
Justin S — Google review
Checked out this bar tucked away in the old cigar factory with my friend and we had a marvelous time. Cocktails were yummy, food was priced well and had great portions. Went on a Monday and there was a band jamming, not sure if music is there on other days. Will definitely be returning to try the food specials on diff days. Also, Victor the bartender was so sweet & took real good care of us!! Thank you, Victor 🫶🏾

Had a great time at Bar Mash this evening. Wanted a place that had some good food and great whiskey selection. Both bartenders were very friendly, open to give recommendations on pours and bottles. Will definitely be back.

We are in Charleston for first time. This is a great place. Very yummy duck confit tacos, and whatever IPA I was drinking was top notch. The bartender (I am terrible remembering names, but he would wade unto alligator infested ponds wearing swim trunks to help his uncle do surveying) served a shot of "cold brew" that was so caffeinated it changed my life - I may never sleep again.
David G — Google review
Absolutely enjoyed the atmosphere as well as personal attention from the staff. Was only able to hang out for a couple libations and then off to reservations previously made elsewhere but we are so looking forward to going back to Bar Mash for the full dining experience!

The vibe is right. Cute attentive bartenders. I got food to-go last week and honestly was one of the best meals I’ve had in months. The tea is order a ice cream Sammy if they have them. Live music neighborhood block party vibe on Monday nights. Would recommend. Instagram: @holycityhost

Ok folks, the only reason I’m posting this 5 star review of Bar Marsh is because I’m leaving this beautiful city after working here 3 weeks. To be honest I was afraid if I told too many people about the Monday night (4-7) prime rib special I would never get in. So, my gift to you! You gotta go to Bar Marsh and have the absolute best prime rib you’ve ever had. On top of that it’s $24.95!! Ok, you can thank me later.

Tres Palmas Acai is a popular spot in Charleston known for serving authentic and delicious acai bowls. Unlike other options in the area, their acai bowls are not overly sweet or packed with sugar, but instead feature real acai mixed with fresh berries. Visitors praise the perfect balance of granola to acai, generous fruit portions, and overall size of the bowls. The natural and refreshing taste of their acai base sets them apart from other nearby establishments that offer sweeter variations.
Truly the best Acai and poke bowls in Charleston! Always fresh and delicious. The ONLY thing I’d change is longer hours 🤪 Sometimes I want a poke bowl for dinner and other local places aren’t worth it!

If you want a nice healthy açaí bowl this is the place! I am more used to açaí that is a bit sweeter, and the açaí was also pretty watery. Great flavor combos and quick service!
Hayley M — Google review
Very tasty smoothie bowls. Fruit was fresh, and combinations of flavors they offer are good. A small is filling!
Alexandra J — Google review
The only place I will grab an acai bowl from and have been for years. I love that Tres only uses healthy ingredients. My favorite bowl is the choco bowl fresfitkate modified. I substitute nutella for organic peanut butter, add protein to the base, gluten free granola and bee pollen on top. So delicious!!!

Super yummy Acai Bowls and very reasonably priced. Great flavor and friendly service. Love that they use Nutella in one of their Bowls 🥣 😋.

We had the acai bowls. The ingredients are fresh, and the acai wasn't oversweetened like it usually is in other places. The staff is very friendly as well. We are visiting from CLT and will surely be back to Palmas Acai when in town
