American restaurant
Basic Kitchen is a casual, health-conscious dining spot known for its farm-to-fork approach and use of seasonal, local ingredients. The menu features nourishing dishes made with local produce, whole grains, wild-caught seafood, and sustainably raised meat. The restaurant offers a rotating daily menu with simple, seasonal options for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Guests can enjoy mouth-watering vegan and vegetarian options such as Ms. Paula's Shrimp and curry bowl along with cauli wings.
My Fiance and I are from Indiana, and this was our first time visiting this restaurant. I have never been to a vegan restaurant. I never believed there were any decent options for someone like me. I was sooooo wrong. For a starter, we had the “Corn Ribs.” Afterwards I had the “Spinach & Feta Pita” with “sweet potato fries.” My Fiance had the “Chicken Dinner Bowl,” and the “Raspberry Basque Cheesecake” to finish it all off. I also had a very yummy glass of local kombucha. Every single food item we ordered was amazing! The atmosphere was very Hip and laid back and the service was excellent! I did not catch the name of the bartender that helped us, but he was perfect! (He had black hair and glasses.) He made some very tasty recommendations and was extremely friendly the entire time we were there. I am now very interested to see where their creativity takes their food, and we will be coming back to visit!

Vegan friendly food with some meat options. Worked well. We had a plant based person and two carnivores in our party. Service was really good! Everyone was very friendly! We called just a few minutes in advance they were able to accommodate us. The farmhouse platter was an excellent appetizer to have after walking downtown. We all enjoyed our food fine. The staff was very nice and polite

We were very happy with our visit to this restaurant. All the food was high-quality and healthy. It’s a great place to bring kids because you don’t have to worry about what they’ll eat. For anyone looking for a nutritious and satisfying meal, this is the perfect spot. We loved everything — 10 out of 10!
Julia L — Google review
Great tasting food with fresh local ingredients. Everything was delicious, the big favorites were the carrots, the beet dip and the coconut chicken. Even the picky eaters in my family were pleased with the food here. I would recommend this place to everyone. Great staff, friendly and prompt.

very delicious! lovely environment and I loved the tableware—cute plates and bowls. the hand towels in the washroom were so soft too! great place with unique flavors that i really enjoyed trying. we got the farmer’s platter for our appetizer, i got the basic bowl (with addition of salmon) for my entree, and then we got the matcha basque cheesecake and chocolate tahini tart.

The best food, juices, cocktails! I’m a healthy eater and there are many options. It’s my 2nd time here over the years of visiting and it never disappoints. Our server, Chloe, was so awesome with her recommendations, fun spirit and attentiveness. The back patio was the spot!
Amanda S — Google review
We have dined here many times over the years and it’s always been a good experience. Several of our group are vegetarian and this restaurant has a number of offerings that make it easy for all dietary preferences. Good location, just a few steps from king street and there used to be easy parking at the city garage across the street but that garage is closed right now. Noise level is a little high when the restaurant is full but otherwise not a problem. Service is normally very good with knowledgeable staff. There is an outdoor covered patio for dining in pleasant weather. Prices are very reasonable for downtown charleston. Overall we give this restaurant 4 Google stars or 3.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

We love stopping in at Basic Kitchen anytime we’re in Charleston. The food is consistently delicious and they always have good local beers and interesting wines available. It’s a warm and lively atmosphere.

Verde is a modern, eco-friendly chain that offers customizable salads and wraps in a casual setting. Despite some mixed reviews, many customers highly recommend it for its healthy and fast options. The restaurant is often compared to Sweetgreen for its fresh ingredients and flavorful salads. Visitors praise the welcoming atmosphere and quick service, with particular highlights being the Mesa Verde salad and the pickled onions.
If you are looking for a good salad, go somewhere else because these salads are GREAT! I cannot believe i have lived here for so long and never ate in here. Absolutely delicious. And after taking the first bite of my Carolina Cobb salad with ranch dressing substituted and I added sweet potatoes, I was literally craving lunch for tomorrow so I could go back and get the same thing! The ladies working were so kind, had beautiful smiles, and were just so nice!!! Great customer service, told me about different specials that happen throughout there restaurants and I cannot wait to go back there and become a regular. It was so clean and the colors were so fun to walk in and see.
Jessica M — Google review
Ordered salads from this place two nights in a row. BOTH NIGHTS THEY SCREWED UP MY ORDER. Tonight, they left the chicken off the Southern Harvest salad, and shorted me a $5+ drink, a $1+ salad dressing, and sold me a salad that weighs about 3 ounces (see photo after salad dressing was removed) for more than $20. This was after my dasher had to wait 20 minutes for them to make my salad, which I had ordered 10 minutes BEFORE my dasher got there. That’s 30 minutes to make a salad, and they STILL GOT IT WRONG. To make matters worse, I called to speak with them and they won’t even answer their phone. Both nights, they also forgot to include utensils. Not even a napkin. I highly recommend going elsewhere if you’re in the mood for a healthy, delicious salad. Maybe these folks are fine in-store, but if you order takeout from this place, you’re taking a huge risk on being very disappointed and ripped off. I will never give this place my business again after my last two experiences. They either don’t care, or they’re doing their best and it’s just second-rate and not good enough. How hard is a salad? Buyer beware.

I ordered buffalo cauliflower and there’s like two sprouts, if any. The falafel is rock hard. I ordered roasted sweet potatoes and I got three cubes, THREE. Also note how many pickled onions they gave me. This was $13 and I was willing to pay because this place is marketed as fresh, whole food. However, I could have gotten more bang for my buck at Chipotle. I’ve tried their other locations and the portions are always reasonable. Never coming back here.
Sofia L — Google review
My wife, daughter, and I were all craving something green, so we gave Verde a try. I had the Mesa Verde, which was excellent. My wife had the sesame chicken (she substituted shrimp), and my daughter had an Asian salad of some sort. Everything was fantastic! All the ingredients were extremely fresh, and all the dressings were very good. Though the prices seemed a little high at first glance, the size of the salads and the quality of the ingredients more than justified the price. Looking for a salad for dinner? I don't think you could do better.

I always come in to order salads, but I came in today to get a salad for myself and my co-workers and it was 6 salads with specific things for each salad and the women helped so efficiently and with such kindness I just had to leave an amazing review! Thank y'all so much for being so wonderful and making the best salads!!! ❤️
Allison B — Google review
This place is worth it! I was pleased with the atmosphere when I walked in. I was greeted in a welcoming manner and my order was taken and served exceptionally quick. This place is contending for the best place to get a salad in West Ashley/Charleston. I enjoyed the Kale, Arugula, Falafel, and chipotle vinaigrette the most. Lastly my experience wouldn't have been so great without Shelby and Marcus.
Tyrese B — Google review
Disappointed. I used to love Verde but I feel they are really off their game, at least at this location. Got the dressing wrong on one salad; both salads lacked flavor. My falafel in my salad was ice cold and rock hard. I asked for spinach and still got low quality romaine mixed in. When I entered to pick it up I was not greeted and the girl behind the counter had an unfriendly attitude. When I told her to have a nice day as I left, she ignored me. And I had tipped her on the pickup order! I have had much better salads from Mellow Mushroom next door - and they don’t even “specialize” in salads….
Kelly S — Google review
This place recently started vending at the cafeteria at Roper St. Francis where I work and just wow. Idk who got paid to make the decision to bring this company on board but perhaps that decision needs to be revisited - charging $12 for a Cobb salad or $8 for a turkey sandwich is obscene. If you’re actually desperate enough to pay that disgusting premium working the overnights for the “privilege” of eating their food, you will quickly realize that their food tastes similarly disgusting. It takes a special kind of effort to stand out as especially bad hospital food, I can only hope that this partnership is short-lived. 0/10. Awful food, awfully priced.

Restaurant
American restaurant
Church and Union in Charleston is a posh New American dining destination and cocktail bar located in a former church, boasting dramatic decor that includes stained glass and gothic architectural design. The restaurant offers a romantic ambiance with chic bench seating, open bottle shelving behind the bar, and ethereal lighting that adds to the overall experience.
We had such an amazing experience at Church on Union! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the history of the church and its transformation into this beautiful restaurant. Our waitress, Courtney, went above and beyond to make our lunch special. She shared the fascinating history of the church, how it was located near the port for seamen visiting the area, how it once had boarding rooms for them, and how they separated their congregation from the locals to avoid spreading illnesses brought in from travelers. Courtney also explained the renovations made to turn the church into a restaurant, including the incredible story of an artist who wrote The Art of War (with some additions!) across the ceiling in just three months. It was such a unique touch that made the experience feel even more special. As for the food: it was hands down the best and freshest we had in the city! We came for lunch and ordered the steak sandwich and the Mediterranean wrap, both served with fries, along with the berry jam cider. The steak sandwich is more of a NY-style chopped cheese with ground beef rather than thinly sliced steak, but still absolutely delicious. The Mediterranean wrap was outstanding, the chicken was cooked to perfection, and the fresh cucumbers and tomatoes added the perfect amount of moisture and flavor. We shared the berry jam cider since we’re not big drinkers, but my boyfriend does enjoy a sour beer from time to time, and he said it was excellent! You could really taste each of the berries. Overall, this was such a memorable meal. Courtney even recommended we try their sister restaurant and neighbor, The Tempest, for dinner. Sadly, they were closed for a private event that night, but we will definitely be back to try it next time! Highly recommend Church on Union for its combination of history, atmosphere, and fresh, flavorful food.

Excellent restaurant. We went with a party of eight and had a great time. Our server Hana was fantastic offering lots of insight to the menu items and providing great service from start to finish. The braised bacon and melon and the Moroccan meatballs were great starters. The crispy pork loin stood out as an entree. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!
Joe L — Google review
This restaurant offers a memorable experience that I’d recommend. Our server, Marco, was outstanding! The drinks were enjoyable, though a bit small. The food had great flavor, but the portions were modest and my steak lacked quality. We also tried the lamb stew—tasty, though slightly oily—but the potatoes were absolutely delicious. The ambience was exceptional, and the service was impressively fast despite the crowd, so be sure to book ahead. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, though the food didn’t quite wow me. We didn’t catch the show this time, but we have in the past and the dancers are excellent. Live music added to the vibe. Keep in mind, your visit is limited to 120 minutes, so choose your time wisely. Almost forgot, the desert was delicious. Enjoy!
Michel S — Google review
What can I say…this place blew us away. While the food was wonderful, we felt the service far surpassed even that, not to mention the ridiculously breathtaking venue. The former church from the early 1900s, as we learned, now houses one of the most caring, interesting, and genuinely lovely teams we’ve ever met. I could tell you how great the food was, but I’ll let you see for yourself, as we’re still savoring the incredible encounter we had the pleasure of being part of. A big thank-you to the staff who welcomed us like family and left us wanting more.
Jericho — Google review
Fun restaurant with a large bar and friendly service. Fried chicken was some of the best we have ever had, crunchy coating with a little note of sweetness and deliciously juicy and tender. Chicken is bone in which is very hard to find in a restaurant. Meatloaf was good but nothing memorable. Southern salad was great, fresh crunchy greens with a creamy dressing, not overdressed. Hummus an chips they give to start is a nice treat but hummus is a little bland. Would definitely return to try more food options and get the fried chicken again. Pepe was our bartender and he was so friendly and helpful, explaining the writings on the ceiling and answering our menu questions. Great service!!!
Kathy D — Google review
This place is stunning! Many of the architectural details have been kept in tact. The staff were friendly, quick and knowledgeable. We had a glitch with our on line reservation and the hostess quickly fixed the situation. We were seated in the small room off the larger dining area. We found it less noisy and cozy. My friends had the crab cake and fried chicken. They loved it. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I had the summer salad. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. For me-it was a bit too heavy on the kale.
Gina H — Google review
Food was amazing here, and atmosphere was spectacular! Built in a church- stain glass windows and architecture of ceiling were gorgeous! Highly recommend the pimento cheese dip, the church and union burger and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich ! We brought our pup- they were so accommodating.

Great place to eat lunch. We got the Mediterranean gyro and palmetto cheese as an appetizer. They were both excellent. Really cool atmosphere. The place s actually a little hard to find. It is hard to see from the road. Worth it when you find it. ‘

Barbecue restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a relaxed dining experience that celebrates the art of barbecue, look no further than Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q. This charming chain is renowned for its slow-cooked hickory meats and mouthwatering cheese biscuits, making it a must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts. The restaurant boasts an industrial-chic vibe and offers a diverse menu featuring sandwiches, burgers, salads, and classic sides—all crafted with care by a dedicated father-son team passionate about smoking meat.
Easy to make the to-go order with Katherine. Friendly. Good food, larger portions for the pulled pork sandwich than I was thinking. Two pickles, already covered in original BBQ sauce but not too much. Good slaw and mustard BBQ sauce too on the sandwich. Creamy and cheesy Mac n cheese. Filling meal for $11.49.

I am visiting Charleston from Wisconsin this week for my daughter’s dance nationals and was on a mission for the best nachos and some fantastic BBQ. I am beyond happy I picked Jim N Nick’s. First off, the bartender MJ was fantastic! She was quick to great me, friendly, and was spot on with her nacho recommendations with chicken. OMG they are amazing. I am a nacho snob and these are some of the best I have ever had! And now let’s talk about the cheddar biscuits they brought out fresh. I am obsessed! I will make sure to get one more round here before I head back home. Make sure this is a must stop when visiting.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant to come to when in the Charleston area. The food is delicious and the baby back ribs are phenomenal, I would come to Charleston just so I could go to Jim n Nick’s. Recently in May 2025 one of the owners approached us, just to ask if we were enjoying the meal and if we needed anything. His name was Jon, I was there celebrating my 33 year anniversary, and Jon did something very thoughtful for us, that I will never forget. I never had a bad experience at this place, and it is management like Jon and his partner that make a business successful. Thank you again!

I usually come hear to get their kids chicken tenders. I love their tenders and lemonade when it’s not entirely sweetened. I noticed I’ve been paying for hard chicken tenders so I mentioned it to the person at the drive through window. She said I’ll say something to my manager. I said well I just don’t want hard tenders. One of the tenders was hard and dark. The manager comes to the window and say well that’s how it’s going to be because it takes 6 minutes to cook them fresh. Ok so you rather give someone hard tenders rather than cook it fresh. I told her no I don’t get hard tenders because that’s the reason I keep coming but just recently this week it’s been hard and I’ve been wasting my money. She got the tenders back from me and brought out smaller tenders that was burnt even more. I told her I would write a review. If you look at the tenders would you eat. Lady please and it was wayyy smaller pieces. Look like they cut it and back it back in nasty grease
Petrina S — Google review
I had a great experience here for Ribs and Brisket. The meal had at least 6oz of brisket, 6 ribs, Baked Beans (flavored with meat and what looked like a little bits of jalapeños in them that were totally amazing), and Mac & Cheese that was equally delicious, and a glass of water for $30 plus tip. We know BBQ isn’t cheap, nor has it ever been. But, if I’m going to pay, it better be worth my money! I’d go here again but probably wouldn’t choose the bar seating as the bar-tender wasn’t as attentive as I would’ve liked. Albeit was within a half an hour closing time and she was very busy cleaning up for the next day. My water glass dried up a couple of times during my meal. Jim ‘N Nick’s emphasizes their meat quality by avoiding freezers and microwaves, ensuring freshly prepared dishes. Their commitment to traditional Southern barbecue techniques definitely shines through in the meal they served me at 9pm on a Thursday night. Jim ‘N Nick’s offers a diverse menu that includes: • Barbecue Plates: Slow-smoked pulled pork, Carolina-style chopped pork with vinegar-based sauce, beef brisket, smoked turkey breast, and barbecued chicken. • Ribs: Classic spare ribs served with two trimmings. • Sandwiches & Burgers: Pulled pork, Carolina-style pork, bar-b-q chicken, beef brisket, and specialty burgers like the Southern Burger topped with barbecue sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, pickles, and a crispy onion ring. • Starters: Hand-breaded onion rings, loaded queso with jalapeño cheddar sausage, pitmaster nachos, smoked wings, and deviled eggs. • Sides (Trimmings): Baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, mac & cheese, bar-b-q corn on the cob, collard greens, and fresh fruit. • Desserts: Banana pudding and Mable’s homemade pies, including lemon icebox and chocolate cream.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my family and I will say that it's a decent place to come to. A decent BBQ menu that most people can order from. I will say that our hostess was very nice and took care of us. We weren't too far from the kitchen and I did look rough back there. All in all, it was a decent BBQ place. I'm not going to rag on the food because I have high standards for BBQ. However, I recommend the smoked wings. Probably the best thing we ordered from there. Hope you enjoy your experience if you decide to give them a try. Take care.

4/24/24 order a salad for delivery. The salad is missing several of the menu ingredients including the corn, bacon, and onions. Just Brown lettuce with lots of cheese and some tomatoes. The smoked turkey is good. I get deeply offended when people play with my money. Is this a sign that the restaurant is the climate? I will be very cautious before I order from here again. Super disappointed. Feeling robbed of my hard earned money

I had the Carolina Vinegar Style Pulled Pork and Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage with Baked Beans and Cole Slaw and enjoyed everything. I was surprised it was as good as it was coming from a chain restaurant. Additionally, the service was quick and friendly. I'll definitely be returning on future trips to Charleston.

Restaurant
The Blind Tiger Pub, located on Broad Street in Charleston, is an upscale alehouse with a rich history dating back to 1803. This charming establishment boasts two indoor bars and a historic outdoor patio with brick walls. The pub offers a delightful selection of beer and serves up solid bar food, including the popular bacon and blue burger and fried pickles.
We first heard about this place from our haunted tour and then our other guide also recommended it so we decided to come. So glad we did! Went in for dinner and were sat immediately and food came out quickly as well! Charbroiled oysters and the pub burger were amazing! The garlic parm fries were crazy good too. This place is great for a casual relaxed dinner.

The food was delicious and came out fast but maybe too fast. I know you want to flip tables quick but the family and I did feel a little rushed. The hostess seemed a bit gruff as well. Just not as friendly as she could have been.

We just got into town and we're looking for a late night bite and this place was perfect! The vibes are amazing, the food was great we had the mozzarella sticks and wow! So good the fries are incredible. The steak was good, next time I'd like to try the burger we saw one go by and wow! Definitely would eat here again

Legendary, iconic place. We met a bartender, we drank with a chef together after he’s provided his masterpieces. Lord… I love this place! That was emotional part. Now you will have an objective. Perfect made food, great size of whiskey shots, friendly atmosphere and the best aftertaste! I highly recommend this place to make your life better!

A classic Charleston spot! Blind Tiger Pub is perfect for a martini on a fun night out or a casual bite. Keep an eye on their calendar for oyster roasts, they’re always such a good time. I’ve been here numerous times in the year and a half I’ve lived in Charleston, but I had to leave a review to rave about their Buffalo Loaded Tots. They’re unlike anything I’ve ever had. I’m a sucker for anything buffalo, and the blue cheese crumbles on top was the perfect touch. The portion was huge, but we still managed to clean the plate in minutes. I always recommend grabbing a seat at the first-come, first-serve bar or enjoying a drink out back on their porch. And if you go during the holidays, try something from their festive drink menu. I've loved everything I've tried!

The food was delicious and exactly what we needed for a great college football game day visiting Charleston. We got the Tuna Poke Nachos to split, which were delicious. For my meal, I got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with the parm-truffle fries and it was AMAZING but sandwich was a little messy. Also, our waitress was great and definitely was feeling our vibes!

Phenomenal upscale cocktail bar in Charleston with really good food! The sandwiches are top notch here! Friendly service and decent cocktails!

The food was soooo good and our waitress was very nice. The wait for food was reasonable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I got the shrimp and grits with a cider, and my friend got the French onion soup and pretzels with an espresso martini. More than $20 each, but I had seafood, and she had a mixed drink, so the prices were as expected.

Caribbean restaurant
Restaurant
Fuel Charleston is a unique dining spot housed in a repurposed 1950s-era gas station, offering refined pub eats with Caribbean twists. The restaurant gained fame after being featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives in 2012. Its hip dog-friendly patio and open-air bar make it a popular weekend destination, especially when the weather is pleasant. The menu features fresh Caribbean cuisine, including the famous grilled shrimp salad with an array of delicious ingredients.
The nachos were great, don’t forget to add the jerk chicken. The smash burger, shrimp tacos and the fries are delicious. The roasted corn chowder was good, make sure you have plenty of water cause it’s spicy! Plenty of seating indoors with outdoor seating as well.
David J — Google review
What an eclectic little find. Outside is so deceiving because it looks like an old gas station, inside is a WOW. What a beautiful patio and outdoor space, the greenery adds such a peaceful and summer vibe. The lunch selection was great. I wish that you could give half stars because food does deserve a 4.5. I was just a tad disappointed with the avacado and corn salad. It lacked a bit of flavor and could use some arugula and cilantro to make it pop! Of note I did not get the cheese so that may have added a flavor that would have completed it. There was nothing but rave reviews from my friends with their food and the atmosphere as well. A gem of a find.
Denise C — Google review
Cool little Caribbean-influenced place that used to be a gas/service station. The jerk chicken sandwich and the mahi tacos are amazingly good. The sweet potato fries are different from what you usually get, but good in their own way. The service was great, but it wasn’t busy when we visited, so your mileage may vary. We would certainly go back.

Fuel Cantina is a cool little reclaimed and transformed art Deco style service station it's now just a great little Cafe. With a fun service station combined with beach vibe. We tried the BEACH and ISLAND bowls with grilled Mahi and grouper respectively . They've got a fair selection of food on the menu including a burger and a jerk chicken that I would probably try if I were able to go back, and some mixed drinks & beer, of course. There's a great covered patio in the back with lots of fans for Comfort on those warm days . There's just about enough parking around the building for the restaurant patrons. You might occasionally have to park on the street.. Not sure how that would be...but we've been there twice on this trip and were able to park in the Cafe parking lot .Great service, fun decor , and a very very tasty lunch!

Most bizarre expireince I have ever had at a resturant. This is not a resturant - its a hang out for all of the employees. They were all hanging out at the bar and there was barely any space for customers - yes - they were sitting on the bar stools. I went by myself to eat dinner and sat at the bar. On a Saturday night - the staff was not at all worried about the customers and only worried about socializng. The menus and food was just as bad as the staff. One of the waitresses sat at the bar next to me the entire time I was there and never moved...I wanted to believe that some of them werent working but when it picked up a bit - I saw a couple of them grab their notepads to go take orders. I also saw a group of the guy workers go over and take more bar seats when they became avaiabile. All I could do was laugh. Cant believe this place is still in business...severly undermanaged.

Food was good. Pineapple salsa a bit too spicy, and server unable to refill drinks for us thanks to a large party.

I usually love going to Fuel I was SO disappointed. I'm usually the biggest fan of their chips and dip. However, the guacamole was absolutely disgusting. It was sweet and tasted more like a sweet potato dish ( it was topped with pumpkin seeds). I understand that some restaurants try to be different for creativity, However, this was just not guacamole. I won’t be returning :/

Edmund's Oast is a trendy destination that combines a brewery, restaurant, and beer garden. The establishment offers a diverse menu featuring house-made charcuterie, locally sourced ingredients, and fresh catch of the day fish. Guests can enjoy craft cocktails and house beers brewed on-site in the expansive outdoor beer garden or indoor restaurant space. The bar menu curated by head bartender Jayce McConnell includes an array of spirits alongside an impressive selection of American whiskey.
Lunch outside is SO GREAT!! Cool breezes blow. Lots of shady areas and they have fans on. They have both large picnic tables & large tables with chairs. Menus wait for you at the tables...you walk over to the bar to place your order & pay & then they carry your order out to ya.! We arrived about 11:55 a.m. on a Thursday-not even crowded. :) You can have your dog under the table or the baby in a stroller next to the table. Food servings are enough to share the 2 piece fried chicken with 2 sides. Love Love Love the Mac & Peas side as a meal!!! Thank you for a Wonderful lunch outside!
Cheri S — Google review
Finally got the chance to try this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. While we really enjoy Edmund’s Oast beer, the restaurant side didn’t make the same impression. The food was good, and the portions were generous, but something felt missing. My wife ordered the fried catfish with grits, which was the standout dish of the night. My son and I shared the whole chicken, with one half original and the other half Korean style. The original was underwhelming, but the Korean-style chicken was packed with flavor and heat. As for the sides—rice and beans, collard greens, and pasta salad—they were good but nothing particularly memorable. The service wasn’t bad, just a bit off and felt a little strange. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, and I can see why reservations are necessary. Overall, I’d rate it a 4.5. It’s a solid spot, but we didn’t leave feeling like it was somewhere we’d come back to.

The prettiest key lime I ever did see! We came here for our double birthday dinner and we're blown away with the incredible customer service, chill vibes amazing food (order the green goddess salad with fried chicken you won't be disappointed!). They made our birthday feel so special in such a lovely venue. By far the best restaurant and brewpub in Charleston!

Easily the best food in Charleston especially for it's price point. Anything with this level of quality and service would easily be $100-200/person in New Jersey or New York. Service was amazing, hell, beyond expectation. I'm also quite frankly a bit shocked how small the bill was for two entrees, a side (which was LARGE), and a drink was. Shawn, our waiter, should be example as to how service should be for other restaurants in the area. Beyond just recommending items, he gave a few recommendations and helped narrow down the options through taste or dietary restrictions. He also recommended several desserts, but due to how delicious and filling the meal became, we sadly weren't hungry enough to fit one in. Sure, Charleston has plenty of amazing options, otherwise I wouldn't want to be a student here, but I think this is a must-have for all tourists and incoming freshman like myself. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just superb. I'd compare the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and most importantly the service to that of an episode of The Bear. It carries perfectly that southern charm mixed with fine dining and a pub. I'm just still baffled how amazing that prime rib was. Hope to be back in August! Thank you once again Shawn for the amazing service.

The smoked salmon toast is a must!! This photo doesn't do it justice. This has been my go-to order for a while but it is better than ever. The buttery toasted bread, amazing smoked salmon, and then the aioli and picked cucumbers are such a good addition. The flavors are not what you’d expect for a salmon toast but they all work so well! 10/10

Fried Chicken, Family Vibes and a Fantastic Start to Our Trip! We stopped at Edmund’s Oast for lunch right after landing in Charleston on July 4th, on our way to our VRBO on Folly Beach - and it couldn’t have been a better kickoff to our holiday week. The food was fantastic. We went with the family-style fried chicken, which came with collard greens, rice & beans and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious, it hit the spot for the whole family. We sat outside, the setup was spacious, relaxed, and welcoming - perfect for easing into vacation mode. The indoor space looked very cool as well, ideal if you’re looking to escape the summer heat. Restrooms were spotless (always a plus), the service was friendly and efficient. Great food, great vibe - Edmund’s Oast absolutely delivered.

Nice covered beer garden with lots of seating. Dog friendly and the food and drinks were great. The key lime pie was magical.

Dropped in for dinner at the taphouse of a brewery we already love, and ended up getting more than we expected. The menu leaned into Thai fusion, which was a surprise, but a really welcome one. We tried the salt chicken, mushrooms and rice noodles, and a papaya salad. Everything came out with bold flavors and bright, fresh ingredients. The salt chicken had a crisp, savory crust and juicy interior, while the mushrooms and noodles packed real heat. I can usually handle spice, but these had me sweating in the best way. The papaya salad added a refreshing crunch and a tangy contrast that helped cool things down. The beer, of course, was top-tier. Huge variety on tap, and even better when enjoyed right at the source.

Home Team BBQ is a lively tavern known for its generous portions of smoked meat and Southern sides, as well as frequent live music. The restaurant was established in 2006 by Aaron Fiery Ron Siegel, who transformed a mid-1900s gas station into a popular barbecue hangout in West Ashley. Today, the establishment has expanded to seven locations and offers thriving catering services. The menu features local favorites such as dry-rubbed smoked wings with Alabama White Sauce and BBQ Nachos.
Try the brisket y’all! This place is hands-down one of the best barbeque places you’ll ever try. The food is outstanding, the ambiance and atmosphere is outstanding, and the service is top-notch. They also have a great selection of local brews on top. This place is worth every penny if you find your way here.

This place has become me and my girlfriend's new favorite restaurant. We've come here all 5 times now and will continue to stop by. The staff are always super friendly and the food is to die for. The pulled pork tastes amazing and being able to sauce it yourself is a great way to make sure it's perfect for your tastes. The ribs are THE BEST ribs I've ever had, the char grilled outside with the tender, juicy, pink inside and savory flavor is so good and I must recommend it to everyone. We will definitely continue to come back.

Delicious BBQ in a very cool setting. A lot of the walls are covered with concert posters and there's a mural of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. The pulled pork was delicious and I liked their Red and Red Hot (not that hot) sauces. Their mustard based sauces went well with the smoked sausage. Their pickles deserve a mention, too: their homemade and amazing!

I enjoyed dinner while on a break at work. It was an early Saturday night. Music 🎶 was being set up for the night. It wasn't busy yet. I like the decor, Music & energy of this place. I never heard of baklava cheesecake so, I bought a whole one to enjoy my Sunday visit with the Elders. Cheesecake is Devine! I'm sure it's going to be busy. Hookah is an option to enjoy. Just visited again. A bit of a rainy day but during the day was the perfect time to come. The staff was great and they even went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Took some pictures, it was a rainy day but it was still a nice day. Most if not all seating is outdoors. Half of it is under a roof, so no problem when it rains.

This place was pretty damn awesome. The food was delicious; I had their falafel, and greek salad, and both were very flavorful. They have an outdoor seating and dance area with a dj, and on the Sunday I went there was a friendly international crowd. The wait staff was very courteous and attentive. It seems to have several regulars who like coming. I have asthma so I was a bit concerned about smoke from the hookahs bothering me but in the outdoor area it didnt really bother me at all.

I love Tabbuli so much and the new location is really pretty. I definitely want to return soon for a Drag event! Everything was impeccable today. EVO Pizzeria is a lively and laid-back establishment that specializes in crafting wood-fired pizzas using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Founded by FIG alums Matt McIntosh and Ricky Hacker, this pizzeria initially operated from a trailer before establishing its brick-and-mortar location in Park Circle. The menu features a variety of 12-inch Neapolitan pizzas, including the classic Margherita, Salami and Mushroom, and Pork Trifecta.
DELICIOUS! The pizza was awesome. But the waitresses were even better!! All staff were so incredibly friendly. But the pizza was delicious! Pepperoni, mushroom, and green olive! You can’t go wrong! It looked like they had a wide variety of beer (I don’t drink so I couldn’t tell you what was good or not).

My husband & I first went to this restaurant 4 years ago on the recommendation of friends who had been stationed in the area. We were excited to come back while traveling, and it was even better than we remembered. We got the same items as last time - the Snack Plate and the Pork Trifecta pizza. They were both so delicious! Both were generous so we shared them and oh my goodness! I had never heard of pickled pineapple, and it was so good. We cannot wait until we’re back in the area and one of our first stops will definitely be EVO Pizza.

One of my spots. Located in the adorable Park Circle area, this gem of a pizza place is perfect for a date night or meeting some friends for dinner. The appetizers are all amazing, but it’s hard for me to order the whipped ricotta (perfect for sharing!) My husband will explore the menu, but I only get the pistachio pesto - hands down the best pizza in the Charleston area. With a wide variety of food and drinks on the menu (along with specials) you can’t go wrong with choosing this pizzeria!

Just finishing up here. Gabby was my waitress she let me taste my wine before I got it. It was dry and sweet to me. The Farm salad is a must. The pizza was a different one for me. Per Gabby I got some kind of prosciutto added to it. It was butternut squash puree, roasted parsnips, Brussels sprouts, red beets and arugula. Love I have leftovers.

Great little pizzeria. Went for lunch and split a pizza between two people which was perfect. Drink selection was ok, the non alcoholic stuff also came out in a glass bottle which was nice. So much more than just burgers! What a find this place was. They offer sandwiches, salads and create your own milkshakes. I can honestly say the best onion rings I have ever tasted. This restaurant is a hidden gem! It’s always spotless, the service is warm and attentive, and the food—especially the nachos—is out of this world. I typically opt for beef nachos when I go out, but Sesame’s chicken nachos completely won me over. The juicy chicken, flavorful sauce, and perfectly balanced toppings create a combo that makes my taste buds sing. The burgers are solid, too, but let’s be real—once you try the nachos, there’s no turning back. They’re hands down the best I’ve ever had. I keep coming back for them, and I’m never disappointed.

We have been excited to try this restaurant. The service was very good and it was not too crowded like everything else in North Charleston. My wife had a wrap and enjoyed it. I got the burger with an egg on it. It could have been good but the egg was already broken leaving the bottom bun soggy 😮‍💨. And then I ordered medium well and it came out medium rare. I actually did not even eat but half due to this. We are not ones to complain but I do give very unbiased reviews. I think this place has a lot of potential and I am chalking up my burger as a mistake. Maybe try them out.

The Hungry Detective and new sidekick had a fabulous experience at my old new favorite Italian spot in Charleston!!! The food: started with the grouper braciole served up super hot in a La Cruset covered mini pot. Main courses….The tile fish is five stars and the plate was clean…”better than sex” Wine: Michael selected a fabulous red from Sicily!!! VERDICT: I usually do not go out on a limb but Coda de Pesce goes above and beyond the call of duty and guilty as sin for doing everything to perfection!!! Note: Sit at the bar….Michael the bartender is a true professional and knows his stuff…great suggestions that were on point!!!

Never ate, server would not seat us tonight at all. Said they don’t do this today. No walk ins. We asked to sit at the bar and was told NO, we just opened can’t help you. Crappy customer service and poor attitude. My sister in law is handicapped and it took her a good bit to walk up the stairs, once we were turned away, she asked if she could stand for a minute to get some energy to walk down the stairs, the guy flat out said ,I dont care, but you’re not sitting here tonight.

We had high expectations based on reviews and descriptions. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. Food was good, but not something what you have never tried as described in other reviews. It was also inconsistent. Even bread, when one order was great and another was mediocre. Besides, it was always a feeling that we have to finish as soon as possible since other customers are in line. My "favorite" part was that we were asked to place our order for appetizers and main dishes at the same time since it is "more convenient" for the chief...

Stunning views and delicious food with spectacular drinks! We were initially seated inside but the hostess was nice enough to let us switch our locations. The service was great, especially for how busy they were with large bachelorette parties while we were there. The truffle fries….to die for! The tomato basil soup had great flavors as did the skillet Mac and cheese if you’re looking for lighter lunch options. We also had a banana pie and espresso martini that were both fantastic. Will definitely return here again!

The Watch Rooftop came highly recommended to my bff and I for a must try stop on our girls weekend and while we wanted to love it… we were sadly disappointed by the food and drink we tried. We ordered the Summer Spritz Flight as it looked soooo yummy and refreshing on the Instagram page, but found that all 4 of the options were too sweet- either overpowered by the flavor add-in, or the sparkling wine used. We couldn’t finish any of them- such a shame! We planned to get lunch, but when trying the deviled eggs appetizer and the drink flight… we opted not to. The deviled eggs were room temp (would’ve been better chilled?) and had zero flavor. We both agreed that they needed something- salt, pepper, a kick?! Something. Our server was fabulous and nearing the end of a long shift, and we appreciated that none of these observations were her fault, so opted not to say anything. The view was lovely- even on an overcast day. Overall, we both agree we’d come back for a sunset drink in the future and marvel at the downtown view, but avoid a seasonal cocktail.

Lovedddd this restaurant! Convinent to king street and associated parking but tucked inside the beautiful restoration hotel, The Watch is a little piece of the slow Southern lifestyle that seems to be missing in too much of Charleston these days. The food and cocktails were delicious - highly recommend the braised beef orecchiette and the burrata and jam! Definitely try to sit on the front patio for the views (its less windy than the back patio too) but on cold/hot days the inside is beautiful and cozy too!

If you're ever in Charleston, SC, and looking for a spot that combines great food, killer views, and a laid-back vibe, this rooftop restaurant is a must. Imagine sitting above the historic district, with views of the city stretching out before you. It's the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time. It was a little tricky finding it but you know what they say, the adventure is in the journey not the destination. A short walk up the breezeway between the Rise Coffee Bar and the Restoration Hotel, hop the elevator to the seventh floor and you're there. The scenery is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The vibe was very chill and laid back. The food was delicious. When you visit the truffle fries are a MUST HAVE. But what really makes this place stand out is the service. The staff is on point—friendly, attentive, but never hovering. They know how to let you enjoy your meal and the view without interruption. Whether you’re out for a date night or just grabbing drinks with friends, this rooftop spot hits all the right notes. Definitely worth checking out!

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and stopped by this rooftop spot during happy hour, and it was such a great experience. The appetizers were delicious, especially the deviled eggs and the truffle fries. They both were worth ordering. The old fashioneds were such a treat to sip while taking in the incredible views. The location is super convenient and easy to walk to, and the prices during happy hour made it even better. We actually found this place on Instagram and are so glad we decided to check it out because it turned out to be another hidden gem. The whole setting was romantic, laid-back, and the perfect spot for a date night with a view.

We sat for 10 min on a quiet Monday afternoon before anyone even came to the table to offer us water. They took the order brought food to the table no plates or silverware. Seriously offering a Margaritia from a pouch like Capri sun. Then the server comes to the table and rather than ask. Us if everything was OK he wanted to know what we liked best??? The menu says sharable...not. Definitely not worth the cost

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. We went there for my birthday on a quiet Monday afternoon. We were seated, and after 10 minutes hadn’t even been seen by anyone. Two men were seated next to us, and were served water before us. The server would’ve walked right past us again so we stopped her and asked if we could possibly have some water. She asked if we’d been seen yet and we said no. Five more minutes went by. She brought out waters for the 3 of us. Put 2 down and left with the third. Eventually came back and said she took the third water with her and didn’t know why. All the other tables had a bottle of water provided. We got what tasted like tap water with dirty ice cubes. We were finally greeted by our server and ordered drinks and two “shareables”. The server didn’t bother to tell us these tiny dishes wouldn’t be enough for three people to share. Our food came out - without plates and still without our drinks. He finally brought our drinks and insisted we taste them immediately. Since the man next to us complained his drink was awful maybe it’s not so weird? 🤷🏻‍♀️ A few minutes went by and he came back. Instead of asking how everything was he asked us what our favorite thing was. We finally got the check - $81 for three drinks, two small appetizers, and terrible service. We spoke to the manager and explained the oddness of it all. She had a deadpan expression. Spoke in monotone, apologizing and wishing me a bland and weird “happy birthday” all in one breath without even a smile. Needless to say, never again.

I had a wonderful experience here on a Tuesday evening! My boyfriend and I sat out on the terrace for his birthday dinner. He got the shrimp and chorizo bowl and I got the short rib pasta dish - both were delicious! The brussel sprouts and pumpkin cheesecake were our app and dessert - these were great too. Service and atmosphere were wonderful.

Little Jack's Tavern is a classic spot with wooden floors and checkered tablecloths, offering comfort food, cocktails, and burgers. It has gained popularity for its simple yet delicious tavern burger, which has become a sensation on Instagram. The adjacent bar has a speakeasy vibe and offers unique drinks like the Jack's rum Old-Fashioned. Additionally, visitors are recommended to try the unconventional treat of the Tavern Burger as both an appetizer and dessert.
Delicious quick bite. I got the farro salad with grilled chicken and it was really fresh and yummy. My boyfriend got the double burger and he described it as a "quarter pounder but better." I completely agree. Super simple but excellent I don't know how they did it. The Brussel sprouts were excellent to share. Those portions weren't huge but I felt satisfied after. They also sat us right away at the bar and still served us food at like 9:45. Super nice of them to have the kitchen open that late! Atmosphere is lovely too. Can't go wrong with this place

Excellent place to eat. Off the normal trek of places. Recommended by our Uber gentleman - Gary! Katya is an excellent server! Music was on point.

Chill neighborhood spot with amazing classic cocktails and killer eats. The Brussels sprouts app and Tavern burger with garlic and herbed fries was incredible. This is a not-to-be missed Charleston food destination.

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and Little Jack’s Tavern was one of our favorite stops. The salads absolutely rocked and were so fresh and flavorful. The drinks were amazing too!! My wife had the Bohemian Raspberry and loved it, and we finished the night with Brandy Alexanders that were out of this world. We cannot remember our server’s name, but he had really cool shoes and was extremely friendly and attentive. We even chatted with him about Donna’s Pickle Beer and how our city helps brew it, which was such a fun conversation. He truly made our experience special and deserves recognition. The bartenders crushed it on every cocktail, and the outdoor space was romantic, vibey, and the perfect setting for a relaxing dinner. The brussel sprouts completely stole the show; they were the best we have ever had and deserve to be talked about more. Little Jack’s Tavern is an absolute gem and a must-visit spot for anyone who loves great food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for fitting us in!!!

What a super cute spot! Delicious burgers with amazing drinks? Sign me up! The single tavern burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. You won’t be disappointed at Little Jack’s. The service is good and the ambiance is peaceful with dim lighting. As someone who prefers smaller settings, I loved Little Jack’s. And while you’re there, try the grouper fritters appetizer. Those were absolutely delicious. On your way out, don’t forget to grab an exclusive Little Jack’s sweatshirt. The best purchase I made while in Charleston!

2nd time being here and again I ordered the burger and again I enjoyed it. I would say though some pickles on the side to give it some acidity would be nice but overall a really good burger. Don't let the size fool you it does the job. Loved the fries and whatever dip they have for them is the perfect combo. The brussels were solid with a nice little Asian twist. They've got wine on tap which was actually pretty good. The only thing that was a severe miss was the flourless chocolate cake. It was like a brick of tasteless chocolate. Overall a solid option and service was welcoming and attentive at the bar.

This is my 1st time trying this place and I kid you not, this place is amazing! I had the surf and turf burger, my brother had the fried fish and my sister got the veggie burger. All the food was amazing! We sat outside since it was a beautiful day (which I recommend doing). The staff was so nice and very knowledgeable about their menu. I recommend coming here and trying their food.

Frannie & The Fox is a relaxed Italian restaurant located inside Hotel Emeline, offering wood-fired pizzas and happy hours. The restaurant focuses on seasonal cooking with Italian-inspired dishes using local ingredients. Its beautiful patio features a giant outdoor fireplace and comfortable seating under string lights at night. The menu includes decadent pizzas, shareable plates like blue crab fritters, and rich pork and beef meatballs.
Had a great time here for date night, cozy dim lighting and private sitting. The food was amazing, we got the Cesar and margarita pizza and it was delicious, super high quality food and did not leave a crumb. Our server was super chill and nice, gave us good tips for our trip. Come here!

The atmosphere at Frannie and the Fox is absolutely fantastic – I especially loved sitting out on the patio, which made the whole experience so enjoyable. The restaurant itself is stunning, and the hotel it’s located in is just as beautiful. The only downside to my visit was the service. My waiter forgot to bring me a drink I ordered and never checked back on us for refills or to see how our food was. Also, for families dining here – there’s no children’s menu. They do offer pizza, but unfortunately, it’s not available gluten-free. Since my children have celiac disease, that made it tricky for us. Overall, it’s a gorgeous spot with a lot of charm, and I can’t wait to go back for dinner and try more from the menu!

We had a truly memorable evening at Frannie & The Fox. The food was wonderful, with rustic, wood-fired Italian fare made with a clear passion for ingredients and simplicity. Walking into the elegant, artful space tucked inside Hotel Emeline immediately transports you to a cozy European courtyard complete with string lights, vintage décor, and a lovely wraparound courtyard with a fireplace that invites lingering conversation. The menu is beautifully curated, full of crowd-pleasing options that feel both inventive and comforting. Whether you’re into pizzas topped with taleggio and honey or crave shareable delights like crab fritters or meatballs, there’s something that hits the spot for everyone. Beyond the food and design, the attentive staff elevates the entire experience with warm, effortless hospitality. A place equally suited for a casual lunch, lively dinner, or intimate night out, Frannie & The Fox strikes a rare balance between comfort and culinary artistry.

Absolutely delicious dinner. Everything we had was amazing, nothing was bad or even just mediocre. Drinks are STRONG. Pizza had a perfectly crisp crust and great flavor, rigatoni with lamb and ragu was super filling and delicious, charred corn and whipped bone marrow with sundried tomatoes and sourdough were drool worth. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend coming here, you won't be disappointed.

SO GOOD! The atmosphere is so nice- inside is lowlighting with a beautifully flower decorated bar and a nice outdoor courtyard for when the weather is nice. Our waiter was so nice, she explained the whole menu and gave honest recommendations. The portions are pretty large which was nice for sharing. Mexican restaurant
Santi’s Restaurante Mexicano is a beloved family-owned Mexican restaurant located in the northern part of downtown Charleston. It has gained a reputation for serving authentic and affordable Mexican cuisine, drawing in a diverse crowd including the local Mexican community, college students, and residents who appreciate genuine Mexican flavors. The restaurant offers strong margaritas and mojitos by the pitcher, making it a popular spot for drinks as well.
It was the perfect day to sit outside and Santi’s has this amazing jungle feel to their outdoor patio with the sun peeking through the trees and the nice breeze was so nice. They had a pretty extensive menu and a lot of options so I was feeling torn. They offered authentic Mexican tacos which I love (American style was an option too) Our servers were two very nice ladies and were very attentive despite how busy they were. I was happy to find out they had Caipirinha’s! 😃 My friend nachos were a huge, I got the enchiladas verde which was good and the star dish was the camarones a la diablo. If you love shrimp, garlic and spice. You HAVE to get this dish. It was seriously addicting and you got this delicious homemade guacamole that they put back inside a half shell which I thought was so cool. I am literally only eating that from now on when I come here. It was a great time with friends and food!

I had a great experience at Santi’s Restaurante Mexicano on Meeting Street. I ordered 3 tacos, and they were fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. The service was friendly and attentive without being rushed, and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere has a welcoming, laid-back vibe that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. It feels like a local gem in Charleston, and I can definitely see myself coming back again soon. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Mexican food!

I had high hopes for this Mexican restaurant, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. The ambiance was great at first glance, but that’s where the positives ended. The service was incredibly slow, and we didn’t receive menus until we specifically asked for them. The food was the biggest letdown—completely tasteless, with undercooked and lifeless chicken in the Chicken Ranchero and Steak Ranchero dishes. Both meals were severely lacking in flavor. I would not recommend this place at all. They seriously need to improve their service and food quality.

Melfi's is a charming Italian restaurant with a rich history, located in a polished, old-school dining room that offers updated versions of classic Italian dishes. The menu features house-made linguine with pancetta or littleneck clams and Roman-style pizzas like the Mr. Wally. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and lively, making it an ideal spot for both date nights and group gatherings.
My biggest regret about eating at Melfi’s was that I didn’t come in sooner. My husband and I were blown away by the food. The atmosphere was vibrant and upscale…Perfect for a date night or special occasion. The spicy ceasar was hands down the best ceasar salad we’ve had. The arancini was delicious, dirty martini well balanced, but the pasta was the star of the show. We got the bolognese and bucatini and couldn’t pick a favorite. My husband was ready to come back the next day. Thank you, Melfi’s!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Melfi’s in Charleston, and it was truly an exceptional experience. 6 or 10 out of 5. What fabulous simple yet sublime food. Worth going to Charleston just to eat at Melfi's wine service was 5 star. Service was just so understated. So gentle. I am not going into the food because it was all so ridiculously good. So amazing.

Took my wife here for her birthday dinner; we had reservations at the bar. A note awaited our arrival in honor of her birthday along with a champagne toast. Nate and Bryce were fantastic. Nate is a true artisan with cocktails. Service was paced perfectly. We started with the Suppli, my wife had the Osso Bucco, which was decadent, and I had the Diavola pizza for our entrees. The espresso martini served as our desserts. The ambiance was delightful. Great experience and look forward to the next time—cheers and Bon Appétit!

One of the best meals and dining experiences in Charleston! Highly recommend starting with their signature spicy caesar salad (arguably the best item on their menu) and you can’t go wrong with any of the pastas! I’ve had the Mafalde pasta twice now and it’s delicious. Make sure you get a reservation ahead of time to guarantee a table. Definitely will be back again for a third time soon!

This was our first visit to Melfi’s and we went on our anniversary. The staff made it such a nice evening to celebrate and even offered a prosecco toast for each of us. The service was great, atmosphere was perfect, and the food was incredible delicious (especially the Bianco and the pasta). We can’t wait to come back!

I’ve lived in Charleston for about a year and can’t believe this was my first time here! We tried the Wood-fired sweet peppers, Straccitella & olive-oil bruschetta, Tuna Crudo, Prosciutto & Burrata, Bucatini ‘Cacio De Pepe’, Paccheri, Stretch Armstrong Pizza, and the Mr. Wally Pizza. Everything was incredible even down to our martinis. Would highly recommend putting this at the top of your Charleston list.

The best coffee and breakfast place!! The 3 egg burritos is just amazing. The lemon coffee and upside down coffee are must try. We had a 30 min wait and tables are fast occupied. Really great outdoor seating! Their almond milk is house made so a definite try.

We had a second brunch at The Daily. The ordering line was kinda long but we were able to save some seats. The place was pretty radiant with indoor and outdoor seating but this particular day was cold so most people opted to sit inside. We ordered : 1. Whipped feta toast made with fresh baked sourdough top with whipped feta, drizzled with local honey, chives, and cracked black pepper 2. Breakfast sandwich that was so good with bacon, egg, smoked onion jam and pimento cheese and it tasted so good. 3. Spring-ish veggies hash was perfect meal for me with romesco sauce, roasted carrots, mushroom, and bok choy, kale, and over easy egg....so so good. The food came in fair amount of time and someone made sure we had our cups of water filled and our empty plates cleared up. I really like this place and will be back to try out their coffees.

The daily has always been one of my favorites in Charleston! I went both Saturday & Sunday this weekend and got the 3 egg burrito on gluten free corn tortillas, the avocado toast on gluten free sourdough with egg and bacon, and a pumpkin Americano. Insane. The pumpkin is the best I’ve ever had- it tastes just like fall and it is sweet without being overpowering or too sweet. We were able to grab a table outside and our food came out extremely fast. Such a great spot for a casual bite to eat or coffee after a good workout or a long run downtown! Will be back again and again and again.

We came here on a Saturday for brunch and had a little bit of a WAIT. It's a counter service restaurant and seating is kind of scarce and FCFS. If you hang out long enough, you'll get a seat. Food: We ordered the stacked avocado toast and the yogurt bowl. Both were tasty and fresh. If you're REALLY hungry, the yogurt bowl may need some accompaniment. The avocado toast had a lot going on, but it actually worked well. The yogurt wasn't overly sweet and for most it's satisfying. Service: The interaction was just with the counter service person. They were friendly and quick. Ambiance: It's a cozy space that can feel constrained but it's not a huge deal. The colors and the decoration are all pretty cool. Overall we enjoyed it here. We prefer table reservation but that's not always feasible or realistic. If you come here on a weekend, expect a little wait, but the food and the service were great. I can see us coming back again.

We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and decided to stop into The Daily because the atmosphere looked really cool and inviting. We walked a ton on our trip and finally decided to stop in for a coffee. The space itself is modern, clean, and has a great vibe that definitely draws people in. However, we were honestly shocked that two lattes came out to nineteen dollars. That just feels way too high, especially with so many other great coffee spots in the area offering similar quality drinks at more reasonable prices. We understand that everything costs more these days, but this was a bit much for what we received. The drinks were not hot enough and lacked the rosemary flavor. The competition around this place is strong and, in our opinion, more affordable without losing any of the experience or quality. This is just our honest and true feedback from two coffee lovers traveling through Charleston.
Ethan H — Google review
Honestly kinda disappointed in the coffee. I got the new Apple pie latte but it’s just milky with no flavor. I don’t even think they put the shot of espresso in and my coffee was barely warm. My husband got the golden milk and it’s hot and flavorful. We went during a slow time too so I’m not sure where the hiccup happened. Not worth $20 for two cups of coffee.

Obsessed with Harken ! This spot was 10/10. Their salads were fresh and unique with healthy ingredients. If you enjoy holistic eating, this is a must try spot. The pastries were tasty, but we didn’t know they could be warmed up until a friend mentioned they were asked. Wish that had been offered to us, since we definitely would’ve enjoyed them more that way. Coffee was solid, but we did notice a few flies on the open pastry case and in the bathroom, which was a bit off-putting. A cute spot overall, just a few small things that could make the experience even better.

Came here for a latte and pastries - the selection was incredible. you can tell the scones & biscuits were fresh basked. I ordered a pimento scone & raspberry pound cake, only received the matcha chocolate chip muffin. We didn’t notice until later because we took it to-go, so that was disappointing! Otherwise would give it 5 stars

My favorite coffee shop on this getaway. The fresh baked goods are straight out of the oven and coffee is great. The decor is also rustic and charming!
Oscar F — Google review
Outstanding breakfast sandwich in a very charming place! The only major issue was the time to order on a Sunday morning was 30 mins - with roughly 14 people ahead in line - time to order just took forever. They said the food would take 25 mins, but was less.

Pretty tight spot with great atmosphere. Good coffee. We had granola and bacon omelette bisque - delicious and flavorful.
Ievgen L — Google review
This is the best coffee… and pastry shop… i have ever been to. It is a challenge to find something that isn’t good on the menu. The Latte’s and espresso are absolutely perfect and the scones/matcha green tea cake/spinach roll etc are literally perfect. I am not exaggerating here… Harken will be catering my wedding or any event.

Barbecue restaurant
Nestled on James Island, Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint is a delightful addition to Charleston's culinary scene, offering a unique twist on barbecue. Opened in 2019, this location is perfectly situated for beachgoers heading to Folly Beach and locals alike. With roots extending across Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky, Martin’s brings the rich flavors of West Tennessee-style whole hog barbecue to the Holy City. Each day begins bright and early at 5 a.m.
I’ve been all over the US and had all different kinds of BBQ and Martins is right up there with the best. This location is accommodating, consistently high quality, and has an awesome atmosphere. Outdoor patio is great for watching sports. Wings, ribs, Mac and cheese, and green beans are some of my favorites. Thank you Martins!
Nathan B — Google review
I grabbed a brisket sandwich ($14) with sweet Dixie sauce. Unfortunately, I was caught off guard by how small it was. For the price, there should be more brisket in the sandwich should be larger. Luckily, the first bite was fantastic. The smoke flavor was on point and the brisket was juicy. I also bought a side of baked beans ($4) and they had a little kick to them along with an amazing onion flavor. To cap off this little lunch. I got a slice of pecan pie ($4.50). It was delicious, syrup, and this was a good value as a piece was a good size. Such a chill atmosphere inside. The employee who served me was somewhat friendly.

Super cute place, food came fast. I had the half chicken and my husband had the wings and ribs. Everything was delicious. Love that their was a fruit option for the kids sides, happy to see their home made bbq sauce had minimal ingredients, dry rub was just real spices and soybean oil( wish they didn’t use that) staff was super friendly. The home made chips were SO good! And the green beans were delicious too!!

Y’all, Martins is always great. I love the fried catfish sandwich (ask for no onions when ordering if you don’t care for them). The pulled pork shoulder sandwich with slaw on top is excellent. The pork has a slight heat to it and it’s really tasty. The fries are fresh cut and the mac and cheese is super tasty. They also do an admirable job with sweet tea!

On a trip from up north and always like to find a local bbq when on the road. This place was inviting, the staff was friendly and the food hit the spot. Couldn’t ask more, thanks to all of the staff and the owner for a great experience.
Timothy G — Google review
Good food for a good price! Got the ribs and brisket, broccoli salad and potato salad.. the potato salad was a bit more vinegar flavored than I typically like, but everything else was fantastic! The dry rub was delicious, also tried the wet ribs as well, and they were really good! Can’t wait to come back!
Mary A — Google review
Always love coming here. Kids meal is plentiful and affordable, 2-4 chicken strips with choice of fries or fruit. Their fries are the BEST. Everything is fresh. Personal favorite is the farmers salad with either their honey mustard or vinaigrette and 4 ribs with the broccoli salad and potato salad. All great side options. Large indoor and outdoor patio seating options.
Megan C — Google review
So glad I stumbled upon this place when looking for barbecue. The outdoor dining area with all the TVs and the bar make the atmosphere very fun and exciting. The food here is very good with some good portion sizes for the price. Everything we ate here was delicious, and the drinks were great as well. Just remember that you should order your food inside first and then head out to your chosen table. Overall, a great place to go with a couple of friends or with the family.

Cutest little hidden spot. Homey and cozy vibes. Staff is very nice. Delicious healthy options. I felt my food was made with a lot of love, thank you! :)

I seriously can’t say enough good things about this place!!! It’s my go-to spot whenever I want to fuel my body and feel my best. The staff is amazing and so sweet, and everything is always fresh with the best quality ingredients and they have options for everyone. Some of my favorite orders are the Baja Bowl with curry chicken, the turkey bacon, and the goddess salad. I’m addicted to their chickpea brownies and protein balls (especially the carrot cake one). And don’t even get me started on their shaken espresso with date syrup it’s unreal. Anywho I could go on and on but seriously if you haven’t been here yet, what are you doinnn?!

Had the muscadine matcha with vanilla cold foam and cashew milk. I thought it was super impressive. I have very high quality matcha that I drink on a regular basis at home so I’m pretty picky about going out for matcha. This one did not disappoint. 10/10 & really nice staff :)

Absolutely love Huriyali! Every visit feels like a breath of fresh air — peaceful atmosphere, amazing staff, and food that makes you feel good inside and out. Everything tastes so fresh and made with love. Their smoothies and avocado toast are my go-to, and you can tell they really care about quality and community. Definitely one of Charleston’s gems. 🌿💚
Keshawn C — Google review
Huriyali is truly a place that feels like home. The food is delicious, the workers learn your name making you instantly feel like family, and it is a great place to do work. Their seasonal drinks are always so good without being too sweet. I love to get the avocado toast with fried egg or the buddha bowl. 10/10 recommend!
Margaux G — Google review
I have been coming to Hurilyali since 2019; the best, most fresh and delicious food in Charleston. All sauces are homemade, the chai is homemade, the nutmilks are homemade...; delicious local breads and incredible smoothies and other vegetable-centered salads and bowls; eggs, cheeses, and bacon also on the menu. Both locations are amazing- go and you will never look back :)
Cynthia P — Google review
Huriyali is truly a gem — the kind of spot you walk into once and instantly know you’ll be back again (and again). Their commitment to using all clean, high-quality ingredients makes everything taste fresh, nourishing, and so satisfying. I’m completely obsessed with their maple brown sugar latte with maple cold foam — it’s to die for and genuinely one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. And don’t even get me started on the chickpea blondies… they’re addicting in the best way. On top of that, they have such an impressive variety of smoothies, meals, and treats, so no matter what I’m craving — a quick breakfast, a healthy lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up — there’s always something perfect on the menu. Huriyali is the definition of feel-good food without compromising on flavor. Highly, highly recommend!

Mexican restaurant
Nestled in a vibrant warehouse district alongside a brewery and tech companies, Rancho Lewis is a delightful Tex-Mex cantina that tantalizes the senses with the aroma of sizzling steak and fresh corn tortillas. This charming eatery on King Street in Charleston showcases an impressive menu inspired by the rich culinary traditions of West Texas, Chihuahua, Mexico, and New Mexico.
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Rancho Lewis before! I’ve been there so many times! My favorite time to stop by is for lunch, though. The lunch break fajitas are my favorite - it’s such a wonderful deal! Honestly, it could be the best steak I’ve ever had. I would recommend Rancho Lewis over and over again!
T G — Google review
Fun location for a restaurant, great atmosphere. The food overall is pretty good but the steak was amazing- flavorful, melt in your mouth delicious. We sat outside around sunset, it got a little buggy but it was a nice experience. The spicy mango margarita was yummy and our service was great. Thanks for a cool experience.
Aive Y — Google review
The primary adjective I would choose for the cuisine at Rancho Lewis is HEARTY. The service was exceptional and the venue is lovely. Quick for us to get a table around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. I want to come back and try some lighter fare, but my husband definitely won the clean plate award.
Natasha — Google review
We had a big family dinner at Rancho Lewis and it couldn’t have been better! The staff handled our large group with ease, keeping drinks full and the chips and salsa flowing. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of that authentic Tex-Mex charm—plus the artwork and decor made for the perfect backdrop for photos. Every plate at our table looked amazing, from tacos and fajitas to burgers and ribs. The flavors were spot-on and portions generous. You can tell everything’s made fresh and served with pride. If you’re in Charleston and want great food, friendly service, and a place that can handle a crowd while still feeling welcoming, Rancho Lewis is the spot. Highly recommend for families, groups, or anyone who loves great Tex-Mex! 🌮🌵
Travis G — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my third visit to Rancho Lewis, and I really wanted to love it since I’m a huge fan of Lewis Barbecue! We were actually on our way there but couldn’t wait in the hour-plus line with our little ones, so we decided to stop here instead. Rancho Lewis has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful décor, even though the area around it is currently under construction. The restaurant was packed, but the wait time wasn’t long, which was great. My wedge salad with steak protein was just okay — nothing special this time. The biggest disappointment was the very limited kids’ menu. The only options were a bean and cheese burrito, a cheese quesadilla, or chicken tenders. With two kids who are gluten-free, what they really wanted was a simple beef and cheese taco, which unfortunately wasn’t available unless we ordered a $22 steak taco off the main menu. Overall, it’s a nice spot with potential, and I’ll give it another try down the road. Follow me on Instagram @holycityfitblonde for more great reviews on restaurants, hotels, boutiques, and much more!

One of our favourite place to go for a group. It’s welcoming, spacious, friendly ambiance. Start at the bar before the meals! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating space. Best to have reservations especially at busy hours and weekends since it can get really busy.

Was super excited for the beef ribs, but they were just kind of ok…wasn’t prepared for the huge portion either! Friend said his beef enchiladas were just ok…nachos were good, I liked how they were individually portioned. Server was not the friendliest… I would try again one more time tho and hope for the best.
Jennifer K — Google review
As a Texan, I have high standards for BBQ and Mexican food, and this place nailed both. The Queso Asado was delicious, the homemade tortillas were fresh, and the beef back ribs were tender and full of flavor. The margarita was perfect, too. I also loved the mix of country and Mexican music—it felt like home. Everything was perfectly priced. Great food, great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

Marbled and Fin is a top-tier restaurant in Charleston, offering an excellent dining experience for special occasions. The establishment offers three levels of expense, with a la carte menu options and additional sides at extra cost. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary cocktail upon arrival. The service is impeccable, and the food is described as exceptional, reminiscent of fine dining experiences from renowned establishments. The thoughtfulness in the architecture adds to the overall ambiance of the place.
Amazing experience and wonderful food. I ordered the NY strip and it was excellent. The wedge salad was great. The triple chocolate cake was decadent! There are a few parking spots out front but plenty more on the L shape part of the lot. Look for the Marble & Fin signs. The staff was engaging and attentive. Highly recommend. The bathrooms were very nice/upscale.

A breath of fresh air in Charleston’s steakhouse scene! Loved the light, modern vibe with gold and coastal salmon accents. Complimentary cocktail + amuse-bouche? Yes, please. Tuna tartare with mango + chili was a flavor bomb, and the steaks were chef’s kiss. Bonus points for super friendly service.
Laura H — Google review
The food was amazing. Started with the a great cocktail, the much appreciated. The oysters and bone marrow appetizer were so delicious. The wedge salad and bread was also a great start. Biggest fries ever, but would try the gratin potatoes next time. Cream spinach was the best I’ve ever had. Let’s not forget about the steak. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. We never had baked Alaska so wanted to try that. It was good but not my favorite dessert. Finally they gave us complimentary champagne because we were celebrating. Service was also top noch. Looking forward to celebrating there again.
Ali E — Google review
This was my 3rd time to be here in 1.5 yrs. The food was fabulous but the service was lacking. Andrew was our waiter, which started out good, but totally changed once an eight top got seated next to us. There was one girl next to me that never stopped typing on her laptop. We assumed they were influencers of some type. The service dropped completely after that. We did not have silverware when our main course was delivered. They forgot my husband’s salad and they forgot one of the sides. We had to ask for a dessert menu, but then decided not to order because I was so Sidetracked by the woman typing on her laptop next to me (for almost an hour). Who goes to a higher end restaurant and nonstop types on their laptop? The chefs needs to to be commended because the food was fabulous. I would not go back though because of the service and atmosphere. There’s plenty more good restaurants in Charleston.

I went here for my friends birthday with a group. From the experience to the food, I give this place 10s across the board. We split some appetizers including the stracciatella salad, which was amazing. For my entree, I had the wet aged filet steak, cooked medium rare, and it was the best steak I have ever had. I also highly suggest having some of the garlic butter poured over top if you get the steak- it truly elevates the flavor. My friend also mentioned to the restaurant that I have a severe gluten sensitivity, and they were incredibly cautious and helpful when it came to that. I would 100 percent recommend going here at least once!

My partner and I got to enjoy Marbled & Fin during our short stay in Charleston. At first, we were a bit scared to not fit in but we felt very welcomed by the staff. Everyone was very nice and attentive. One of our foods had to be returned and the manager came directly to our table and apologized. They brought a new plate and didn’t charge us. And multiple times he thanked us for stopping by at the restaurant. Even though we only had one waitress, we had multiple great interactions with different members of the team. The Milk Bread, Au Gratin Potatoes, and Mac and Cheese were amazing!!! But everything we had was amazing! Will definitely return!
Nazaret M — Google review
This restaurant is outstanding. Thank you to Greg our driver from our hotel (the Charleston place) for recommending it! There were several special touches that didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for the birthday card as well. Meal was 10/10 enjoyed a 32 oz bone in rib eye, tuna steak, oysters, scalloped potatoes and of course bubbles and a nice bottle of red. *This dining experience is exactly what the book Unreasonable Hospitality is all about. We recently read the book and as foodies we can fully appreciate an establishment that checks off all the boxes going above and beyond taking care of their patrons. Thank you for the next level hospitality and for helping to make my birthday special.

We normally head to the historic district for steak… but you cannot skip this place. A modern view of Charleston- will def be back for sure! Berkeley's is a trendy neighborhood restaurant and artisanal mini-market that opened in June 2021. Located at the corner of Rutledge Avenue and Huger Street, it offers a menu centered around 11 sandwiches, small plates, and entrees. The mini-market features a selection of wine and beer for takeout, as well as items from local vendors. The restaurant prides itself on simple yet flavorful dishes catering to both meat-eaters and vegetarians.
Debbie and I finally got to check this place out downtown which we pass by frequently. We tried their hummus, beet salad and the French dip sandwich and we were not disappointed. They have lots of cool things on the menu and even a frozen sangria machine with white and red sangria which we sampled :) Try the combo. The service was top-notch also. Highly recommend.

Ordered the linguine. Not exactly what I was expecting. It was decent. Good service and great vibe. Love the location. They say to ask about the homemade ice cream and they’re right. You should. Best item on the menu!
Justin S — Google review
⭐️⭐️ Two Stars I had high hopes for Berkeley’s given the strong Google reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. The food was pretty subpar, especially considering the prices. I ordered a gluten-free option, which I understand can be tricky, but the bread was clearly old, dry, and completely fell apart. It also lacked cheese, sauce, or much flavor — and they did charge extra for the gluten-free option. The staff was kind and the space itself is cute with some great fans (literally and figuratively), but the lunch menu is limited and overall, both my friend and I left underwhelmed. Definitely not what we were expecting.
Holycityfitblonde — Google review
We stopped in for lunch and it did not disappoint. I ordered the French Dip with a local beer, and my wife got the Reuben. Both were fantastic—great flavor, quality ingredients, and generous portions. Our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of the food. When my wife asked about their homemade dressings, he brought her extra dips so she could try them all. That little touch made the whole experience even better. If you’re in Charleston and want great food with even better service, Berkley’s is worth the stop!
Jared B — Google review
We are visiting from Wisconsin on our honeymoon and had an amazing Thursday lunch at Berkeley’s. The sandwiches here made it such a tough decision on what to order because everything looked so good! The place was absolutely packed, even outside right after it had rained, which says a lot about how popular and loved it is. Our server, we think her name was Casey, was incredible. She was handling what looked like ten or more tables at once and still gave us the best service we could have asked for. Our water glasses were NEVER empty, and she was so kind and apologetic about a short wait for our sweet teas, which she even took off the bill even though it was completely unnecessary. She truly knows how to serve with skill, grace, and professionalism. When we couldn’t decide what to order, she recommended the cheesesteak, and it was the perfect choice. It was gooey, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Before that, we shared the smoked salmon dip, which is a must-get appetizer and one of the best things we had in Charleston. She even split our cheesesteak on two separate plates without us asking, which was such a thoughtful touch. The chips were amazing too, especially with a little mayo on the side. Everything about Berkeley’s impressed us!!!!!!!!! The food, the atmosphere, and especially the hardworking and genuinely kind people who make it all happen. The hospitality shines here, and it’s easy to see why this place is always packed. THIS PLACE IS A 20,000/10!

Black Bean Co is a popular health-focused cafe in Charleston, offering a variety of salads and wraps that cater to vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets. Since its establishment in 2011, the restaurant has expanded its menu and garnered a strong local following. Known for its speedy service without compromising on freshness or portion size, Black Bean Co's offerings include energy wraps, power gyros, salads, sides, and baked goods.
Extraordinarily friendly and super energetic service. Plenty of tasty vegan options...vegan grits, tofu scramble wraps, yummy pancakes and a delicious chocolate chip cookie that's perfect as a pre-breakfast snack. Too many tasty possibilities!
Laura D — Google review
We went there around noon on Monday. They said they couldn't do any gluten free wraps and my friend was bummed about it because she can't eat gluten. She had salad instead. The food was okay, not great. I had a strawberry wrap. They say it's super food but in reality it's not that. I had pumpkin seeds covered in sugar in my wrap, how super food is that??
Charlotta H — Google review
Wow, so good! I was honestly on my way to the fast food joints farther down the street, but figured I 'd give this place a try. Glad I did! The menu consists mostly of wraps, but includes a wide variety. I can be picky and most of the time need to pick out unwanted stuff from wraps/burritos. These were perfect! I ate every last bite. The yogurt side was really unique and refreshing. The staff was friendly and the food came out within a few minutes. The price for a meal is just over $10 which is normal, but for King St. is a tremendous value.
Brett H — Google review
The food is decent. The problem I have is with the service. I went there this evening after class and ordered a fresh wrap to go. Silly me for not checking my order before the 45 minute drive home. I get home and have no idea what was put in my box. I also visited on Nov. 11 for a quick bite before my afternoon classes. I couldn't find 1 clean table to sit and eat. If I'm paying $8 for a wrap, then they should at least wipe down the tables, so I can sit down and enjoy my food. It makes me wonder: If the tables are dirty, then what is going on in the hidden food prep area? Needless to say, I will not be going back.
Theres B — Google review
Love Black Bean Co and really miss the locations on James Island and West Ashley from the way back. If you're looking for a quick bite, the kitchen staff push orders out so fast and the quality is amazing. I've never had a bad plate and I've never had an issue finding something that kids will eat either. The inside eating area at this location is really awesome, great spot to people watch and just enjoy the downtown bustle. Again, even with large parties people get served right away and the menu is light, healthy, and with plenty of options for people to choose from.
Eve H — Google review
They have wonderful vegan options but nothing if you're sensitive to gluten. They will make your wrap into a salad at best. Regardless, the ingredients are fresh and the food is delicious. Staff has always been very friendly and accommodating.
M C — Google review
I have some severe allergies and can't eat at normal restaurants. The people at this place have a pretty good idea of what's in their food. (Most chains don't have a clue which preservatives and sweeteners their foods contain.) I love the spring rolls and their smoothies are pretty good, too. The only downside is they don't accept any substitutions on the smoothies. I think the food is a little overpriced for what you get but I also understand that healthy whole foods cost more and you are also paying for the location.
Stephanie A — Google review
Great experience. I have been in a few times and the food is always good. I just tried the delivery service and it worked out great. Michaela took my order and was very professional. The woman who delivered it was also very nice and greeted me with a smile. I ordered the Beach Burrito with the chipolte mayo. It was very fresh tasting and was a decent portion size. This is a great alternative to the typical down town food.
