Charleston City Market is a historic 4-block market that has been around for over 200 years. It's a hub for local artisans selling sweetgrass baskets, leather goods, art, and more. The market also offers a variety of food options and fresh farm-to-table produce. The architectural significance of the buildings adds to the charm of this cultural hotspot. Visitors can explore the area and indulge in local cuisine at nearby eateries like Butcher and Bee or Home Team BBQ.
I recently visited the Charleston City Market during my trip to Charleston and really enjoyed the experience. The market is surprisingly long and filled with a wide variety of vendors. There’s just about anything you can think of for sale like local crafts, handmade goods, art, souvenirs, and more. It’s a great place to walk through, browse, and find something unique to take home.
James W — Google review
The Charleston City Market is always a fun stop when visiting the city. There’s a little bit of everything here, so it’s easy to find souvenirs or unique gifts. Prices can be on the higher side, but that’s pretty standard for a tourist spot. On one of my first visits, a kid handed me a palm rose, and before I knew it, a man was chasing me down asking for $5—it gave off a bit of a New York street hustle vibe. The market is usually crowded and can get very hot in the summer, but there’s a small indoor section with food options, air conditioning, and surprisingly clean bathrooms, which was a welcome break.
Katherine H — Google review
Love shopping at the Charleston city market! Lots of great Christmas and birthday gift ideas! People are friendly and there is so much to look at. We also took an E-bike ride to the pineapple fountain and enjoyed sitting by the waterfront. Don’t miss a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city, in the evening, complete with spooky ghost stories and delicious restaurants all around. Overall, Charleston is a fun walkable city with lots of history and a fun vibe!
Julie P — Google review
We checked out the Charleston City Market during the week. It was busy so I can only imagine the weekends. There is street parking and multiple lots available. Lots of local vendors and food available. What I like is that the market is covered. Most of it has fans above to try and keep the vendors and shoppers cool. Part of the market is enclosed with air conditioning. We found a few interesting items and tried some of the food. I would suggest checking it out if you make the trip to Charleston.
Andrew I — Google review
A beautifully designed market with a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Partially air-conditioned, featuring charming shops and stalls. The vendors are friendly, not pushy, and very customer-focused. There’s a great variety of products to discover, and plenty of good food options around the market. Definitely worth a visit!
Yassin A — Google review
A tourist thing in Charleston. You could buy some souvenirs and we got a really cute coaster and a meh magnet. Things are pricey but not incredulous. There is a callies hot biscuit to try. Some very cool art like metal art and real butterflies taxidermy. Went in pouring stormy weather but I can imagine a more laid back stroll at the market with a loved one would be nice. Not every stall is super different so maybe the nyc in me is spoiled and I am looking for novelty. The other thing would be if there were more snacks or bites to try. But overall decent. Not stunning.
Janis M — Google review
A wonderful experience! The market is full of talented artists and beautiful handmade items. The vibe was lively and welcoming, and I really enjoyed walking around and taking it all in. Definitely worth a visit when in Charleston!
Kiana T — Google review
This is a must see, local artist, specialty booths and tons of Charleston charm. Had a wonderful time, bought a few Charleston Christmas Ornaments, a few pieces of jewelry and some gifts. The outdoor Market has air-conditioning for those hot days. Would recommend this as a place to visit .

Croghan's Jewel Box is a historic family-owned jewelry store located on King Street in an 18th-century building. It offers a unique selection of high-end antique and estate jewelry, as well as elegant gifts for the home. The store features the signature Goldbug Collection, designed by fourth-generation Croghan Mariana (Mini) Hay, which celebrates Charleston's iconic palmetto with items like earrings, pendants, cuffs, and key chains.
Who can pass this inviting jewel box on King Street? Lovely items in a wide price range. Attentive staff but not at all pushy. A trip to Charleston is not complete without a "remembrance" from Croghans Jewel Box!
Cindy R — Google review
Croghan’s has always been a place we’ve trusted, and up until recently, the service had reflected that, which is why I’m giving two stars instead of one. However, we’re incredibly disappointed with how a recent ring resizing was handled. My husband dropped his ring off to be resized last week and picked it up yesterday. At no point during drop-off was he told what the cost would be. When he arrived to pick it up, we were surprised to learn the total was $450. We absolutely understand that quality service comes with a price, but not being given any quote beforehand feels misleading and unfair. Had we known, we might have made a different decision or asked more questions. For such a well-respected jeweler, transparency should be a given.
April S — Google review
I surprised me wife with a private appointment here for our 10 year wedding anniversary and Rhett the owner and Sally threw out all of the stops for us. They made my wife feel very special, having champagne and pastries for us, a pre-selected offering based on the direction and budget I’d given them. It’s no wonder this company has been around for so long! The newly renovated store is beautiful to every last detail and all of the staff are kind and great to work with. Thank you!!
Tim B — Google review
Croghan’s Jewel Box is undoubtedly the finest and most trusted jewelry store I’ve ever worked with. The new store is stunning. The staff are all professionals and knowledgeable .They are familiar with each designer and every aspect of the business. The engraving they do is unparalleled! The selection of designers is varied and extraordinary and one can find pieces that they will cherish forever in a price range that suits them! Shopping at Croghans is a fabulous and fun experience! As a long time client and jewelry designer I wouldn’t shop anywhere else for my jewelry , wedding gifts, and special occasion presents! Bravo to this store ,the family , and the amazing staff !! Thank you all!Best of the best!!! Tippy Stern

Croghans is stunning! The new location is gorgeous, the staff is wonderful and the pieces reflect true Charleston. A must when visit with something for everyone. Highly recommend.
Sierra L — Google review
Went here for day of gifts for my wedding and am now devoted to them. The lady who helped me was absolutely wonderful and caring. I also had my engagement ring and great grandmother’s wedding band resized. Both came out beautiful and they ensured the engraving within my grandmother’s band was untouched (something I was very nervous for!). The pieces are of wonderful quality and the prices do reflect that but are very fair. I prefer to invest in my jewelry anyway! Overall - couldn’t recommend a better jewelry/gift shop. P.s: I was pleasantly surprised when they offered to put the photos in the lockets for me that I purchased. The photos turned out clear, non blurry, and perfectly cut to fit in such tiny pieces. They’re even allowing me to send them back to have another photo placed on the other side without additional charge!
Miranda A — Google review
It's had to describe just how special this "little" jewelry boutique is. Croghan's is a family owned and operated by the matriarch's of the Croghan and Ramsey family. I grew up with Mariana and Rhett and found myself lucky to have Rhett's help to find my wife a special ring for her birthday. Not only are they the "salt of the earth" people but you can trust them as well. Only the finest stones and diamonds available. Quality with a difference you can see. Iconic. Friendly. Simply, the best. Home of the "Gold Bug".
Norman ( — Google review
I’ve always wanted to re-design my wedding rings and incorporate my mother’s and grandmother’s rings. I knew I could entrust Rhett the owner of Croghan’s Jewel Box to envision a design that would be timeless and also honor the most important women in my life. The final product was more than I could ever dream of. Their customer service and selection in fine jewelry is incomparable. They also care about our community and are so generous when they give back. That’s why they’re such a gem in the city of Charleston!

Tanger Outlets Charleston is a shopper's paradise located in North Charleston, offering over 100 discounted stores from big-name brands like Michael Kors, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH, Coach, Forever 21, and more. This massive mall also features athletic stores such as Nike and Adidas, as well as accessory shops like Sunglasses Hut and Vera Bradley.
Everything you need in one stop and shop. Not overly crowded. Open mall with indoor shops. Coffee Cologne Candles Jeans Sunglasses - plenty of room for walking. Safe. Definitely a good place to go
LeAnna H — Google review
Most of the stores are just clothes and shoes. Some high end stores do not follow the discounts given by the tangers membership such as Victoria secret and Sephora amongst others, so check out the deals first. Maps are posted at each location for easily identifying the shop location which is very helpful. Restrooms are present. No shops for electronic items though. Overall an okay place to shop but a good place to hangout if shopping is not the primary goal.
Amresh K — Google review
I really enjoy the outside shopping style that Tanger provides. There's always a breeze through there and the decor is always AMAZING! It's the perfect first date (coffee, shopping, lounging) and also a great place to bring your family! From Starbucks to Coach to getting your ears pierced at Claire's, it's all there in an outdoor, relaxed environment.

Tanger usually has the same stores and similar layout. Weather was nice for an outdoor shopping. Very walkable and not crowded. Stores were decent but no place had a wow factor.

It was very good I've been there multiple times. Is a very good family place they even have shaved ice Stalls. Also a Buffalo wild wings right next to them. They have most of the stores you would normally find in outlets. I've never had a bad time there.

A night and day difference comparing this Tanger to the Tanger in Pooler. This Tanger is so much nicer, cleaner and has better stores overall. There are plenty of well designed seating areas to relax for a minutes. The facilities are nice and clean. Vending machines placed throughout the grounds.

Candle store
Candlefish, a local candle maker in Downtown Charleston on King Street, offers a wide range of candles and hosts candle-making classes. Collaborating with local artist Sam Sidney, they've created a festive candle with pine, sugar plum, and amber notes, donating all profits to the Charleston artist community. The boutique provides a unique shopping experience where you can consult expert chandlers to find the perfect scent from their 100-candle library.
I’ve done multiple candle making classes and LOVE visiting Candlefish for gifts and to restock my favorite scents. Erin, the GM, is absolutely wonderful and so helpful when I want to try something new. If you want to have a great time for a date or outing with friends…I highly recommend the candle making classes. Awesome value for unique experiences in Charleston! Our favorite chandler, Angel, is as fun as she is knowledgeable and you are guaranteed to have a blast. The entire store is adorable and the staff are great. As a local or as a visitor, you will find excellent quality items (and conveniently close to public parking). ❤️
Allison S — Google review
I’ve decided to write my first google review because Mallory, the employee who taught my candle making class, is worth it. I had such a blast at the class and she taught me a ton about candles, I even mixed my own scent (which came out surprisingly well)! All the candles at this place smell amazing, so I obviously bought a few, but it was the staff made my experience here so memorable. Mallory was such a STAR that my friends and I could not stop raving about her the entire rest of the day. She deserves her own TV show… and a raise!
Shelby Y — Google review
We recently did a candle making workshop as part of my bachelorette party, and it was absolutely amazing! The entire experience was so much fun from start to finish. Our instructor, Angel, was incredible - she was super knowledgeable, funny, and made the class so engaging! Everyone in our group had the best time and left with beautiful candles and great memories. Highly recommend!
Jordyn P — Google review
We had a great time at today’s candle making’s class. Our chandler, Caroline, was so knowledgeable and had such a fun spirit. We learned so much about candles today!! If you are in the Charleston area, you should stop by Candlefish. Their candles are top tier and so are the people behind the counter.
Natasha B — Google review
The candle making class is a must do for your girls trip!! We had a very rainy CHS weekend for my sister’s bach trip and this was such a fun activity. Shoutout to Erin for being an awesome chandler/instructor! She was super engaging and informative. Yes, you only get one scent for the two candles you make. But, Erin gave us the pro tip that if someone from your group likes the same two scents as you, then you should buddy up and swap one of your two candles with them to get 2 different scents! Overall, the class is a great value and really fun. The store is gorgeous and you get a discount for more shopping after 😊 Highly recommend! Thank you Erin & Candlefish!
Sarah D — Google review
Recently took a candle making class here with a group of girls for a bachelorette trip. We had an amazing experience and the store is super cute. Angel was a wonderful and knowledgeable instructor. Definitely recommend!

First off the place is absolutely lovely. We had Abby as our candle maker host and she was the sweetest person and so knowledgeable about our candles. I learned so much and this was such a fun experience. Your staff is so amazing and even LOVED our Long Island Accents! We cannot wait to return. Oh and BTW we got our candles and they smell incredible! Thank you so much!

King St is a revitalized historic street in Charleston, offering a mix of fashion boutiques, antique stores, galleries, and trendy restaurants. While chain stores have made their way onto the street, it remains a haven for pedestrians seeking unique shopping experiences. Visitors can explore Hampden Clothing, Worthwhile or Ibu Movement for distinctive fashion pieces and adornments from Croghan's Jewel Box or Joint Venture Estate Jewelers.

King Street in Charleston, SC, is a captivating blend of historic charm and modern vibrancy, offering a unique shopping and dining experience. The street’s architecture and atmosphere provide a picturesque backdrop for a leisurely stroll. From high-end boutiques to local artisan shops, there’s a diverse array of stores to explore. Dining options are equally varied, with establishments like The Ordinary and Husk offering memorable culinary experiences. However, the popularity of King Street comes with its challenges. The area can become exceedingly crowded, especially during weekends and special events, making navigation and parking difficult. The influx of retailers has also led to concerns about rising rents and the displacement of local businesses, potentially impacting the street’s unique character. Be sure to support local on your visit! Despite these issues, King Street remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a mix of history, shopping, and dining in Charleston. Planning your visit during off-peak hours or weekdays can enhance the experience, allowing you to fully appreciate what this iconic street has to offer.
Madelyn A — Google review
Absolutely Stunning Street! This street is simply magical. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with beautifully preserved buildings and charming shops lining both sides. Walking up and down the street is a joy—even if you’re not shopping, it’s a delightful experience just to soak in the surroundings. The variety of stores is impressive, and the whole area feels welcoming and full of character. Best of all, the street leads directly to the sea, adding a refreshing coastal vibe to the entire experience. A must-visit!

Blue Bicycle Books, established in 1995, is a beloved independent bookstore located on King Street in Charleston. The store offers a diverse selection of books across various genres such as military history, cookery, children's fiction, and paperback classics. Additionally, it houses a vast collection of both new and used Charleston-themed books. Visitors can also enjoy the large event space where regular author talks and other events are held throughout the year.
Such a cutie locally owned bookstore! Rooms and shelves are clearly labeled and all stock is super well organized. The store offers new, used, and collectible tomes. The kids room is adorable. The store promotes community partnerships and hosts lots of lit and author events — photos from these are sitting on the shelves and it’s such a personalized experience. Worth a stop!

This is such a cute store! Their collection was a great mix of classical, modern, comforting, and political commentary. I found some hilarious books here and the decor was lovely.

Blue Bicycle Books has an eclectic assortment of books ranging from new to old and rare. Make sure that you give yourself time and don't rush through the store. They have organized booms in sections, and there is even an adorable kids' room. The store is clean, and the gentleman sitting at the desk was friendly.

The signed secondhand books that I’ve bought from this place are some of my most prizes possessions. Whenever I have people visiting from out of town, this is a must! I also collect records and they’re essentially next to recordstop which is amazing! I attended my first Yallfest last year and met so many of my favorite authors, grateful to have this local bookstore in Charleston! Can’t wait for yallfest 2025!
Juliet D — Google review
Walked into this store and there were no staff members. As I moved farther in, a woman walked by me, said nothing, not even a nod of acknowledgment. Literally seconds later, two people walked in and she greeted them warmly. Browsed for a few and then left. As we walked out, there were now two staff members at the register, neither of whom said a word to us. Immediate turn off if you can’t be bothered to greet me, especially when I tend to spend upwards of $200 at a bookstore. I’ll give my money to Buxton, who clearly trains their staff better.
Lindsay M — Google review
I just moved to Charleston. I've been here one week. I was exploring downtown on foot when I passed blue bicycle. I approached the counter to ask about a book that was recently recommended to me. When I approached the counter, the two sales associates were having a conversation about business. I politely did not interrupt and waited for them to acknowledge me. It was an awkward amount of time to not even be greeted. When I was, the woman said, "Did you have a question or something?" Welcome to Charleston, I guess.

Blue Bicycle Books is one of South Carolina's best Independent Books stores. They off a wide verify of books from local titles to the newest YA bestseller. Blue's does alot of youth literature\community engagement events through the year in various forms from poetry too YA literature. They sponsored the Yallfest which basically shuts down a Charleston street every in the name of all thinks bookish and bibliophile. Blue's is definitely worth a visit and a social media follow to keep track of all author events coming up!

The Preservation Society of Charleston Book and Gift Shop, celebrating its centennial this year, offers a unique shopping experience. The shop features contemporary wares from talented local makers, including Smithey Ironware Company skillets and King Bean Coffee. Visitors can find a wide range of exclusive collections, such as jewelry from Brackish and knives from Burls & Steel. The store is a treasure trove of locally made goods that support the community while preserving Charleston's heritage.
Wow! This is an amazing shop run by an NGO promoting and protecting the city of Charleston and its heritage and architecture. The shop is truly amazing. They sell exceptionally high quality handmade crafts and goods from artisans in and around Charleston. And the bookshop in the back has a wonderful and eclectic selection. From my strolling through old Charleston, I’d become curious about some architectural features in the city neighborhoods… so I was very pleased when I found some books on this topic at the Preservation Society. My only regret is that I arrived too close to closing time and did not get to peruse the other hand-crafts as much as I would have liked. I’ll have to go back someday, and I recommend you to do so too!

I’m sure there are a lot of great walking tours by the society, but the mystique history tour offered less than I hoped. It was a two hour walk to took at about six or so houses on the outside and, if we could peer through the fences, we could see their gardens. I guess I was hoping for more history of public historical buildings. Some people on the tour appeared to like looking at the outside of the houses, we didn’t find it very interesting. It wasn’t an architectural tour so there was some history of the owners and some here say.

Amazing shop. Fantastic and helpful customer service. Very knowledgeable. Great selection of quality and authentic Charleston and South Carolina made items. Great selection of Brackish items. Will return when I visit Charleston again. You won't be disappointed!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great gift ideas with many unique options. And if you're a book lover, this is the place for you. I only picked three but easily could have chosen three dozen. Prices are reasonable with some high-end items on the pricier side. If you're looking for a gift or souvenir Charleston related, I would recommend the Preservation Society.

Lovely stuff. Well made sturdy duffle like bags. Amazing cast iron cookware. It's run by the preservation society so there's no sales tax. There's Heather clips and feather inlay jewelry. Wonderful fun store. Staff is a was very accommodating.

I bought a beautiful JW Anderson Chain bag online and on sale-final sale/no returns. I'm ok with that but I'm not ok not being informed that there was an obvious defect in this bag. The magnetic closure is flawed-both sides of the magnet face each other so of course, it will not close. Now, again, I purchased something online knowing full well that it's a final sale but I should have been able to make a more informed decision knowing the closure is a failure. I'm going to have to take this beautiful and somewhat expensive bag, to a cobbler for repairs. Since the bag is in essence a tote and having just this magnet to close the bag, it must be a working tab closure. The customer service that I received (excluding not informing me the bag is defective) was stellar but I feel that it was flawed, resulting in a 3 star rating when it could have been a 5 star rating.

First off we had two different experiences at this store. The first day we went everyone, literally everyone, we talked to was super helpful and friendly. We spent a good amount of money our first trip. My girlfriend wanted to go back a few days later to try on some more items. This trip was absolutely horrible. The staff completely ignored us the second visit. We asked multiple staff members for assistance and they assured us they would help. But 20 minutes later, each staff member we had talked to had forgotten about us. Leaving us standing in a corner looking awkward as hell as they walked by. The store is fun and has a wide variety of products but the consistency in service needs to be better. Especially when you consider how much customers spend. We may try and go back but for now, we won’t.

I purchased a cute R13 dress in the website, unfortunately then I found NORSTROM.com has went down the price much more for the same dress with all sizes available before I actually received the package from Hampden website. I emailed to ask for price matching, the lady who responded me with no hesitation nor any hard time to me but simply processed to refund the difference to me directly. The package arrived to me on time and the dress fits and looks both nicely. It’s even better the lady updated me they offer free shipping both domestically and internationally outside of states. I will definitely return to shop more. Highly recommended. 👍🏿👍🏾👍🏽👍🏼👍🏻👍

This is hands down the best and the largest boutique store I have ever been to in my life. We spent almost an entire day in here, bought lots of clothing. The selection is insane. I think it can rival any Nordstrom / Bloomingdales in large cities. You will see many clothes just hanging on circular racks in the back that still cost $1k, which is insane. In a normal boutique these will be front and center. Just showing you the scale and selection of this place. The staffing is extremely friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough. We got the website now and will be ordering online in the future since we don't live there.

Best shop I visited while in Charleston for 3 days. Fashion-forward clothing from international designers both known and yet to be heard of, interesting/fun/beautifully-made home goods, deliciously scented goodies, unique jewelry... The space is well thought out and the wares carefully curated. This place could exist and thrive in any major city, which is something I cannot say of their King Street competitors. Bravo, Worthwhile, I can’t hardly wait to come back!

The owner is very honest and you can trust that you are getting a fair price for your purchase. If you shop Rick Ownes, they actually marked it way lower than a big store, like Saks. High end, but down to earth and I always feel at home in their environment. Best store in Charleston if you like unique clothing.
Leslie B — Google review
Worthwhile is that place you go to find elegantly simple, unique clothing made of beautiful cottons and other materials and feels like something you’d find in Soho NYC. Very hip vibe. It’s about craftsmanship. I’ve gotten a few jewelry pieces from one of their artisans I treasure. The packaging alone is worth the purchase of jewelry... the artist creates a box worthy of the piece and is every bit as much as important. The fun part is one will find household treasures, gifts as well. No visit to Charleston is complete without a visit to Worthwhile for me.

The Charleston Farmers Market, located in Marion Square since 1989, is a vibrant weekly outdoor market showcasing an array of locally sourced produce and artisan crafts. Visitors can enjoy browsing through the diverse selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables while sampling delectable treats like nuts, cheese, olives, and cakes. In addition to the fresh produce, the market also features local craftspeople offering handmade goods and a variety of food vendors serving up delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner options.
What a great experience we had here! We stumbled upon this event when we went out in search of coffee. Such an adorable environment. We ate at the breakfast place. I don’t know the name of it but it was delicious. I witness them serving a homeless person at no charge. It was so nice to see. I loved seeing all of the artisans. My favorite were the handmade wooden bowls. I wish I had bought one!

Good mix of food and crafts vendors. It's a pretty small market and can become quite crowded on popular weekends. It's a nice setting to buy some food and picnic in Marion Square. Most of the vendors were pretty engaging and there was a nice variety of artwork. We always look forward to attending while in town.

It was a smaller farmers market. Adding vendors and more food options could be helping plus was a earlier shut down. I only wish they went longer but great for what the store vendors had. Lots of crafts and some farm fresh produce. Would reccomend going earlier rather than later as they do close on time.

A bit small but had a great variety of local artists and a small selection of fresh local farm produce. I got some delicious blackberries. I got to meet a lot of fun makers. I got some homemade dog treats and my girlfriends got some cold drinks, an iced tea and lemonade and someone was selling fresh iced kombucha so there are options for drinks in the crazy summer heat.

Great farmers market with lots of stuff for everyone. Produce, food, drinks, local arts and crafts, and much more. There is usually some sort of live music. Pet friendly so feel free to bring Fido. Parking can be a challenge but that's standard for most of downtown Charleston. Great place to pick up Charleston souvenirs or local produce.

One of my favorite stores in Charleston. You’re bound to find something perfect for your wardrobe. Anthony was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I very much enjoyed being able to discuss watches with him besides just the great clothing in the store.

One of my favorite places to shop and yesterday was just another fine example of the level of customer service here. I went in to purchase a father's day gift for my Dad. I ended up purchasing a nice polo for myself too. Then the sky opened up with rain. The staff at Dumas offered everyone a beer while we waited for the rain to pass. They also double bagged my purchases so they would not get wet. Excellent service and I will be back.

Ordered a bag online from this store that was sold out other places. Arrived quickly and was nicely packaged. Seems like this store cares about customers and wants repeat business. I plan to visit in-person next time I’m in Charleston.

This place is a total rip off.. it’s time people start being honest about this place.. I purchased 3 pairs of overpriced sneakers that lasted less than 3 months.. soles falling off, shoe lace holes ripped for no reason.. I honestly believe their stuff is imitation, I also purchased a few shirts and they turned out poorly after washing.. why would people buy other brands for double the price and get poor quality fake clothes and sneakers. Give them 1 star and would recommend to everyone I know to stay away.

Best men’s store ever. In addition to great lines of clothing customer service is above and beyond. Taylor “saved” a special jacket by ordering Eleventy buttons for me and I didn’t even buy the jacket from them. He went to the trouble to call the company to find the buttons and texted me back and forth as the status of my getting them before leaving on an upcoming trip. Beautiful clothes and exemplary customer service! Thank you Taylor!

My husband and I have been devoted Dumas clients for years. Whenever we are in Charleston we make it a must to stop by the store. The team is always beyond helpful, even remembering small details about my husband’s somewhat picky tastes! The new store in Mt Pleasant is fresh, vibrant and a new vibe from the downtown store - we loved it! Being able to visit friends in the area and then pop over to Town Centre was awesome. In this landscape of big box stores, it’s always a treat to have special attention paid, and a curated selection in which to choose from.

Customers rave about the comfort and durability of Lake Pajamas, with some even claiming that their sets look nearly new after multiple washes.

LAKE in Charleston did a fabulous job helping me select the perfect robes for my bridesmaids for my upcoming wedding in October 2024! Lauren made the process seamless. The light blue gift boxes and robes were delivered within less than one week of order! Lauren even followed up with me after delivery to make sure everything was correct. Highly recommend this store!
Lanie D — Google review
I’m obsessed with Lake!! I have at least 30 pairs and will continue to buy more 😅 So so happy we have a store in Charleston and it’s the cutest!
Sydney L — Google review
I own many pairs of Lake pajama sets and have never experienced the issues expressed in some of these reviews. It's important to understand you need to follow the care instructions specifically. Using "natural" detergent means nothing. All of my pajamas look nearly brand new after many washes. I've included a photo of the Elderberry Relax Shorts Set for reference - my most worn and have been through tons of wash cycles (always laid flat to dry - never in a tumble dryer). I lean more toward their modal fabric because they do not shrink like pima does, but I do own some of their pima products as well. These are comfy, soft, and I don't overheat in the Florida temps and humidity. If they're in your budget, give them a try. Definitely not for everyone, but I have found them to be extremely good quality pj's that just make me feel good to wear :)
Ashley D — Google review
The customer service in this store is non existent. A bunch of young girls standing around entertaining each other and their friends is what I've seen all 3 times I've visited. Didn't even glance my way. Save the trip. The pajamas are great and the stock in store is poor. Just order online if you have to have them.
BC M — Google review
I’ve never dealt with worse customer service in my life. I received these PJs as a gift that I had on my list for a long time. After one wash, following ALL care instructions, there was discoloration on the top. They said their “products don’t do that”, but after reading several reviews, both on here and on Yelp, I know they do. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone and neither should you.
Sarah C — Google review
I love, love, love Lake Pajamas on King. The saleswomen were attentive, cheerful and full of southern hospitality and charm. They were servant-hearted and never failed to go above and beyond to anticipate my needs and helped me find exactly the right pj’s and fit. The atmosphere is beautifully designed, and walking into the store feels like taking in a deep breath of fresh air. The saleswomen are equally refreshing and gracious.

George C. Birlant & Co is an esteemed family-owned antique shop that has been in operation since 1922, marking its centennial celebration in 2022. Situated on King and Clifford Streets, this upscale establishment is renowned for its extensive assortment of fine 18th and 19th-century English antiques, as well as high-quality reproductions.

Walking into this exceptional antique store made me instantly know “I’m in the right place!” Meeting Andrew (the owner) only solidified my joy. He took time to chat with me and tell me how they select their magnificent and varied pieces. He also gave me references for crystal chandeliers and silver, and could not have been more kind or accommodating. True Southern Hospitality! To see his dear father (95!) still at work with his desk next to Andrew, spoke volumes about the character of the business and the owners and personnel ! . I have found the only place to go for the finest antiques anywhere!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with (2) generations of Antiques dealers. Especially seeing the paintings of Phil Slotin who studied with Lamar Dodd! A highlight of our visit to Charleston.
Adam T — Google review
They appeared to have a very nice selection, particularly of antique furniture. However, we were very uninspired by the staff. Every other customer who entered was politely greeted and asked if they required any assistance, but the only time we were addressed was when a woman rudely barked at us to not damage a table, sharply saying that it was sold and they “needed to protect it.” Okay, fine. But it was... quite disproportionate, as I had lightly touched the surface of the table with one finger (which was not visibly marked as sold, uncovered, and in the middle of the store). That was enough for us, and we made our way to the exit. As we left, another customer walked in and, to our disappointment but not to our surprise, was pleasantly greeted and asked if she needed assistance. I guess that service is reserved for the 60 and up crowd? Too bad, really, we would’ve loved to go home with a beautiful antique piece.

A dazzling array of fine silver, exquisite porcelain and wondrous wood work. Prices are commensurate with quality, so some things must simply be appreciated by viewing but there are many lovely pieces for smaller price ranges like ours. My favorite store in Charleston.

Christophe on Society in Charleston is one of the best patisseries on earth! The almond croissant is a masterpiece...flaky, with perfect amounts of almond paste, powdered sugar and sliced almonds! And the fruit tarts are heavenly!
Doug G — Google review
I want to start off saying that the product and the staff are great. My review is about my experience with Christophe himself. He treats his employees like assets, refusing to learn their names or address them as people. He also refuses to acknowledge correct and/or preferred pronouns. He has stated several times blatantly that he does not care about anyone’s well being or respect them. He yells and intimidates when he does not get his way. He is not kind. He is not a person for whom I recommend spending your money. His favorite pet name for his employees is “stupid”. He involves employees in his personal affairs, such as his divorce from his ex wife, insisting they write testimonies against her even though it has been said several times that this makes them uncomfortable. The two strong, capable women who pull the weight in the kitchen are very talented, though.

The chocolate was pricey but worth it. I like the pistachio and orange chocolates so far. I will be back to try more. Sorry we are it before I thought about posting it.

The chocolates and macaroons were beautiful, and the employees were lovely. I try and find good macaroons whenever I travel, so I was really excited about these, and the presentation in the packaging was absolutely beautiful… but they fell short flavor wise. All the fruit flavored ones tasted overpoweringly artificial. The other flavors, like the chocolate and the salted Carmel were absolutely delicious!

Love that they just opened Sezane!! You cant access it thru the hotel - have to go to the street entrance, which is a bit frustrating during downpours....

Great high end shops..missing the Godiva store though. It's a great walk thru from Meeting St. to King St. ...but my favorite time of year to pass through is Christmas because they have a beautiful train display in the lobby. They also dec it out with trees and garland for great picture ops.

The bookstore itself boasts a fantastic selection of books and gifts, making it a convenient stop for book lovers. Visitors have praised the knowledgeable and passionate guides who lead exclusive ghost tours, providing an informative and enjoyable experience.
Rachel & Grier are the absolute best! I popped in on New Year’s Eve right around closing time. Such friendly people. Although I talked to them mostly about my research in both screening & treatment of cancer, they were so polite and genuinely supportive of my advocacy for improving patient outcomes. It was truly inspiring. Stop by & support this gem! Josephine

My husband and I ended up on our own, private ghost tour with Jerry. What an amazing night. He is a story teller like no other…so engaging and knowledgeable. Learned so much about the history of this town as well as stories of hauntings. Really amazing tour that you won’t want to miss. My recommendation is to find out when Jerry is working and go with him!!!!

One of the few small spaces in Charleston that felt small. Not sure if there's a re-vamp happening, but the store seems to be disorganized and missing stock. If you're sound sensitive, you might want to avoid this little bookshop. It's crowded, well-trafficed, and doesn't take many bodies to get very loud.

We had such a great ghost tour with Brian! He was a great story teller & knew so much more than any historian I have ever had on a ghost tour and we have been on many! It’s a nice walk and covers some great places! I highly suggest you ask for Brian!

Such a great independent bookshop, with very friendly staff and some lovely touches such as ‘blind date with a book’. I did the ghost tour with Brian the night before Halloween and it was brilliant. I’m not ‘into ghosts’ by any stretch of the imagination, but Brian is clearly a very gifted storyteller and entwined Charleston history and ghost stories with amazing skill and enthusiasm - I learned a lot. A rendition of an Edgar Allan Poe poem at the end was especially moving. He also made some great recommendations for photo opportunities. I was gripped for the entire tour and would definitely recommend, even for ghost sceptics!

Men's clothing store
The Ben Silver Collection is a boutique that offers refined, traditional clothing for both men and women, along with shoes, eyewear, and accessories. Specializing in tailored clothing for men, the store has been a go-to destination for high-quality and timeless wardrobe pieces since the 1960s. Initially known for making men's overcoats, the collection has expanded to include traditional blazers and now also features clothing for women.
I do not understand why race or politics are the focus of any clothing catalog review. Just to be critical of gorgeous clothing? I see nothing but clothing in this catalog, beautiful clothing. Until I read your comment it did not occur to me to look at any racial characteristics. I am ordering a dress I like and have no idea of racial characteristics of the model, nor do I care. Politics and hatred do not belong in every aspect of our daily life. Hugs and kisses to you. Pass it on. Nancy Jones

We received this catalog today. Where is the diversity in the photos? Only white men can afford your items? I would recommend adding all color of distinguished looking gentlemen wearing the clothes and shoes.
Vicki S — Google review
The on-line order system needs significant work. It is mind bogglingly poor. For the second time in recent years I've ordered from Ben Silver via the web. For the second time in recent years given baffling delays in delivery - much less order status updates - I've had to cancel my order. The most recent order was simply for a necktie. Nothing more. It was ordered in mid-March 2025. I cancelled the order today. This comes after three (3) separate calls to Ben Silver Customer Service ("CS") for a status update. Yesterday CS advised that your Tie Buyer would call later in the day (Yesterday) with an update. No such call was received. It is baffling that a tie order cannot be filled in less time. Admittedly this is consistent though with my previous attempt to order on-line from Ben Silver. For a store that poses as purveyor of quality goods, the on-line experience is an absolute mess and warrants significant work. There are far better options available than Ben Silver on-line.

I’m visiting from out of town and really love their clothes, great quality. However, the customer service could use improvement. I visited the store twice and, unfortunately, had a similar experience both times. No one greeted me or offered any assistance. I don’t need over-the-top attention, but a little hospitality would go a long way. Even a simple acknowledgment would’ve made the experience feel more welcoming.

Received your Fall catalog. was interested in several sports coats but noticed that you increased the price by on average $400 or 35percent. I realize there is an inflation factor but give me a break. Going forward save the expense of sending a catalog and i’ll save time by shopping at a merchant that provides quality at a fair price
Johnnie W — Google review
STOP SENDING GARBAGE!! NOBODY WANTS IT, #1. #2, it's EXTREMELY WASTEFUL, and #3, any fool can look you up online if they want to. So,#4 it jams up people's mailboxes for stuff they could look up online.

Great Clothing - Excellent Service I recently visited the store and had a great experience. I have enjoyed receiving the catalog for years but it was so much better to see, try on, and feel the tailored clothing, sweaters, and fine shirting. I was able to purchase a beautiful sports coat, some shirts, and a sweater and I like them all. I found the customer service, both in the store and with the online sales, to be very attentive. We were staying at a hotel up the street and visited three different days. In addition, there was a minor issue with the sports coat but it was quickly resolved and shipped overnight to me. I look forward to my next visit to the store as well as receiving the catalogs.

In addition to custom designs, the brand also offers a variety of ready-made jewelry such as silk tassel topknot earrings and matching beaded bracelet sets for both parents and children. Visitors can expect a fun and hospitable experience while shopping at HART, with professional assistance in creating custom pieces.
What a TREAT to work with Ellie at Hart! I received a necklace for Christmas and wanted to add charms; it was so easy to send in and select the charms I wanted to add to my necklace. Ellie even moved the charms around to make my necklace even more beautiful. I have stalked the website for years dreaming of a custom necklace, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. I will be a repeat customer!

I came here today and honestly had a bad experience. I never write reviews, I work with people too so I usually just let things go, but this was a pretty egregious experience and I felt like I had to. It took a while before anyone even greeted me I kind of had to introduce myself, and when I finally got helped it was just the typical explanation, nothing personal. While she was building my bracelet there was no customer service at all. No conversation, no acknowledgement, just silence. I even tried to make small talk and she didn’t respond. What’s frustrating is that I’ve been here before and had good experiences, and my friend who was with me has actually purchased from them before too. But this time she didn’t buy anything because the vibe was so off. Honestly if I didn’t really want the bracelet I came for I would have walked out too. I even saw some other girls leave. I just want the owner to be aware of this experience because it’s a bad look on her store.

Cool experience, you can customize your own necklace and bracelets here. The chain is gold filled but the charms are gold plated, so they do not recommend showering with it. I got one chain with 5 charms and it came out to be $400.

French restaurant
Restaurant
Chez Nous is a charming restaurant located in the historic residential neighborhood of Cannonborough-Elliotborough. The cozy space gives diners the feeling of being in a French family's home, where they are served with love and affection by the welcoming French couple who own the place. The menu offers a standard three-course meal that changes daily, featuring two options for each course. The dishes are beautifully plated and prepared with near-perfection.
Where shall we go today, France or Italy? Perhaps a bordertown experience ala Courmayeur? Having been to Charleston once before, I was interested in stepping outside the local low-country cuisine to experience a restaurant with different, even European aspirations. Chez Nous filled that bill quite nicely. The restaurant is in a converted house down an alley far from bustling King Street. Although they have a lovely patio, be sure to request an inside table if the weather concerns you. While not strictly a farm-to-table purist kitchen, the approach is absolutely one based in local, fresh, and high quality ingredients. The menu ( handwritten by the chef in both French and English) is more than concise: two starters, two entrees, and two desserts are presented each day—perhaps with the goal of relieving you of the decision-fatigue so prevalent in modern life. Regardless of intent, the approach is liberating. You make reservations here with the understanding that you are relying on the chef’s selection of ingredients determining what she will cook that day. There is no burning desire to preview the menu online and succumb in advance to our predilections. Instead, proceed with faith. The starter I chose, an antipasto dish of prosciutto, burrata, and strawberries was simple and delicious. We tried both Main’s: the spaghetti con vongole (clams from Oregon) and the fried chicken. The pasta was al dente and the sauce delicate. The chicken thighs (my personal favorite piece of yardbird) was also perfectly cooked. The scarpetta ( cleaning the plate Italian style with bread) was more than warranted. The wine list is well-curated, with most wines from France, Italy, and Spain. (I was told the owners have a wine bar in Paris as well). I selected a French Bourgogne (Chardonnay) that worked brilliantly with both of the mains. The dessert finished it off, a chocolate and olive oil cake with a delicate white sauce. For that, I selected a glass of the French Chinon (Cabernet Franc). The service by Nicki was attentive, and her wine knowledge evident. The final act was a hand pulled single espresso with beans from a local roaster —with a nice crema on top. $245 for two with a $79 wine and a glass of the Cabernet Franc—in line with fine dining in town. I will be back one day for another series of choices by the chef.

Chez Nous is an absolute must try in Charleston (if you can get in!). Tucked away with its charming, intimate atmosphere, it feels like a secret you’re lucky to stumble upon. The menu changes daily, which makes the dining experience feel truly special. The hanger steak with onions was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor and likely one of the best I’ve ever had. The trout with hazelnut brown butter was equally outstanding: rich, delicate, and beautifully balanced. And to finish, the pot de crème au chocolat was nothing short of delightful—silky, decadent, and the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole evening felt like dining at a friend’s home in Europe. Chez Nous captures the magic of simple, thoughtful cooking at its finest. I can’t wait to return and see what’s on the menu next time!
Glenn R — Google review
I recently dined at this restaurant during a work trip with my colleagues from NJ, and we were truly impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet elegant evening. Our server Lianna was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcomed from start to finish. The food was outstanding and beautifully prepared with authentic flavors that highlighted the best of French cuisine. Every detail, from presentation to taste, exceeded expectations. A wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an intimate and memorable meal. I wish I lived in the area so I could savor the dishes every week!!
Jacqueline R — Google review
Fantastic daily changing menu. Our visit with three people we ordered both apps (lamb skewers, and Burrata with eggplant) to share and each had an entree (herbed chicken and potatoes, and grouper with a saffron broth). All the food was amazing. Dessert also delicious. The price is high but the quality is there.

fyi, not all superb restaurants are on King St...thanks for the reminder that food indeed can be transformative, is memory - restorative. Absolutely adorable French restaurant tucked away—so hidden that’s you feel like you’ve tumbled into a secret garden type space. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly, and food was delicious!
Kristy G — Google review
Very good lunch experience at Chez Nous. I was excited to try it, having heard and read good things. Lunch reservation made online and I sat at the bar. Comfortable, but it would have been cramped if busy. The atmosphere inside is charming, and nice jazz music was playing at a very agreeable volume. The charming hand-written menus are almost comically illegible, but all the choices sounded extremely tempting. I opted for the eggplant starter which was tasty but a bit disappointing as an appetizer. More like crispy eggplant "chips", I feel they would have made more of an amuse bouche than a $23 starter. The main couse I chose were stunningly delicious veal escalopes with a rich pan sauce and capers, lemons, and roasted potatoes. Superb quality, but rather pricy at $47. The wine list is very good, but markup is significant. I'd consider coming back, but must admit I don't think the prices are worth it. It's an elevated, European experience; but my tab of $156 (including tip) for starter, main and two glasses of wine is bordering excessive.

Great place for a walk or run along the wall. Peaceful to stand and watch the boats going by. This seawall acts as a defense against storm surges and high tides, an increasingly important function due to rising sea levels. Parking was easy and free when we were passing through.

Berlins is a clothing store that has been in business for 134 years. They offer an excellent selection of menswear, including items like mens tailored suits and shirts, as well as made-to-measure and custom clothing designs. George was wonderful to work with, taking the time to understand what I was looking for and providing multiple options that utilized different color combinations. He also provided helpful tips along the way which were very much appreciated.

Berlin’s is simply the best. I came from out of town — after even a little looking and asking those would who know, it was easy to see Berlin’s is “the” men’s store in Charleston. Unbelievably, I lucked into dealing with Steve Berlin himself — his grandfather (or maybe it’s great grandfather) started the business in the 1800’s — yes, the 1800’s — and it’s easy to see why they remain at the top. The service and attention to detail are superb. My final purchases were shipped to me — I noticed another reviewer mentioning how nice even that part of his experience was and that’s how it was for me, too. Everything was neatly packaged and well-presented — Berlin’s puts great care into every aspect of their business. I’m a definite fan and will be back for more.

Called over the summer for a tuxedo for the 2 year old ring bearer in December wedding. Told bringing him in 2 days before wedding was not a problem and they did not need his measurements and will fit his tux on the spot. Went 3 days prior to wedding and they did not have his size. They ordered one which came in 1 day prior to wedding and tailored on the spot. It fit terribly at the wedding and was HUGE.

So many issues. First, I was not greeted upon entrance, or during my walkthrough of the shoppe. Second, if you’re unable to visibly price your shoes, at least show the effort or interest in making a sale when someone is standing, holding a pair of shoes, looking around. After I roamed the mostly-empty shoppe for about five minutes, I placed the shoes back down, as no one seemed to care to assist. Then, to my surprise, a tall, grumpy-faced sales associate came over to the shoes, turned them 90 degrees from the position I had put them back down in, huffed, and walked away. Frankly, the worst customer service I’ve received in many years visiting Charleston—or anywhere else around the world.

Working with Patrick and Seth has been an absolute pleasure! Their attention to detail and customer service is exceptional. I worked with them to get fitted for a tuxedo rental, have alterations done on a very tight deadline, and they taught me how to tie a bow tie! Also their end of season sales are extraordinary. I will without a doubt be bringing all of my fancy menswear business to Berlin's from here on out. Even after going to many other suit stores and alteration shops in the Charleston area, Berlin's is my favorite by a long shot.

Working with Patrick and Addie has been an amazing experience for me and my groomsman! Both representatives have been extremely responsive, professional, and were able to help the day that my bride and I have always dreamed of come true! I highly recommend them!

Grady Ervin & Co is a classic men's store founded by two Ralph Lauren alums, offering traditional menswear brands and made-to-measure options, as well as alterations. The store excels in providing timeless pieces such as leather billfolds, oxford shirts, and navy blazers. Additionally, they have an upstairs atelier for custom orders and a Field Sport and Gunroom featuring Southern outdoor brands alongside renowned outfitters.
Grady Ervin & Co is truly a classic store with great customer service and products. I went all around Charleston trying to pick out a store to make a tux for my wedding. Grady Ervin and specifically their specialist Orian stood out. Orian was the first person to offer a full consultation to answer any questions I had. Once the tux came in he was very patient during alterations process to make the tux perfect. All around great customer service and a great product. On top of all that they are pretty competitively priced for downtown Charleston.

It is a nice store with a great selection, but upon entering, hearing rude comments from a staff member to a customer about people only browsing the walls and not shopping is very discouraging. Then, I did not receive any help from anyone when I needed to try on a pair of shoes. It is unfortunate.

Based on the previous very positive reviews of this establishment I encouraged my son to buy a tuxedo here for a wedding he was attending. He spent approximately $1000 for a tuxedo that never fit right. After several visits (both by my son and myself) it still is just okay. The worst part though was the complete lack of interest by any salesperson on the floor whenever we visited. The last visit to pick up the “fixed” jacket, six sales people looked up from their cell phones and looked right back down without acknowledging me. My son is beginning his career in business, he or I will never shop here again.

Just picked up my new suit! The suit quality was notably superior to other stores that I tried, competitively priced, and looks great. Personalized service by Tom, and tailoring by Mae was unmatched. They ordered the suit I liked without obligation so I could see it in person, and after 2 fittings, each with complimentary tailoring, my suit looks incredible. I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic shoppe! Wonderful staff making the most gorgeous bags and wallets. I bought 2 for me, and special ordered one for my daughter. Support a local business that makes a high end product for an accessible price point

Wow, from the customer service experience in-store to the delivery itself this was the single best purchase I’ve made in a while. My custom bag arrived in an extremely timely manner in perfect shape and condition. I am so extremely happy with the final product, the craftsmanship, and the experience. Thank you J Stark and thank you Jess! If you are considering a bag or wallet or any product from J stark I cannot recommend it enough. Choose to support local!

My best friend has recommended this place for years and when we finally came up for his wedding we decided to come and stop by the shop to see what they had to offer. Everything in the stores are made by hand and they even have sewing machines in the main store so you can see assembly taking place. This is such an awesome way to see products being made here in the US with the most premium materials. I ended up picking up a wallet because I needed something new and they even embossed it with my initials. I always want to support small business when I can (as I own a small business as well) and J Stark is exactly who I want to be rocking in my pocket for the next few years! Now I just need to order a Navy colored Crossbody Pack. Christmas is coming up…any takers? 👀👋🏻

The coolest shop with the kindest owners. I have several bags from this shop; they are the best quality and I get so many compliments on them! Can’t speak highly enough of this place, their goods and the people!

This is a cool bag store. They make all the bags in the store. It is layed out in an untypical, but cool way. I like the little sitting area next to the antique radio.

The team at J. Stark is the absolute best. The King St. store is gorgeous and a MUST-DO for anyone visiting Charleston, SC! It's so fun to see the bags you can purchase being made onsite! My partner and I are big J. Stark fans and love collecting every shape, size and color bags.

One of the coolest shops on King St. Go check out the bags and leather goods they make in the shop. You can literally watch the crew making product while you shop to the sound of industrial sewing machines and good tunes. I treasure my J Stark backpack that they custom made in the colors of my choice!

The Tiny Tassel, a vibrant boutique in Spring Street owned by Mimi Striplin, is a must-visit destination. The shop offers an array of colorful tassel earrings, unique trinkets, Charleston-inspired candles, and handmade clothing crafted by Striplin's mother. Supporting this boutique means supporting nearly a dozen women- and Asian-owned brands featured in the store. The cheerful atmosphere and friendly staff make shopping here a delightful experience.
Loved this beautiful boutique of unique and colorful items! The owner Mimi, was extremely helpful and sweet . I was super excited that clip on earrings were in stock and many selections to chose from.11 Looking forward to seeing new patterns I live in NC but will definitely continue to support via the website❤️

I love shopping at The Tiny Tassel. The shop is so bright and inviting and Mimi has chosen the right staff, so rest assured even if she or Keiko aren’t there, you will have a great time the minute you walk in the door. And guess what!! They are an all inclusive brand with clothing going from XS to 4X! Yesterday I even brought a dress for my granddaughter in the same pink and white Charleston Toile as my dress. Can you say twinning!! There is no way you can walk out without buying something, as they have the cutest accessories!! Love me some Tiny Tassel. 🩷🩷

I appreciate TikTok for introducing me to this gem of a store. While visiting for vacation I knew I had to stop in and I was not disappointed. My suitcase didn’t have enough room for clothes but I had plenty of room for the cute charm bracelet I curated. The customer service was spectacular and the young woman who helped me put the bracelet together also gave some great local recommendations for food and more shopping.

I am so happy I found The Tiny Tassel on Instagram when looking for cute boutiques in Charleston. This woman owned boutique is so unique and has the most stunning pieces of jewelry, accessories and keepsake items. We visited The Tiny Tassel last weekend. It was located just down the street from our Airbnb so we popped in on our way to King St. First of all, everything in the shop was adorable, I had to stop looking because I only had so much room in my luggage. Secondly, the owner was so friendly, kind, and helpful. I felt like I was talking to one of my best friends! Lastly, I’m so mad I didn’t look in my bag sooner, she included a little guide to Charleston and I really wish I could have checked a few of those places out! Oh well, guess we’ll have to go back again!

I didn’t end up buying anything here, but WOW do they have some incredible luxe items. The sales associates were as fabulous as the merch. Next trip I will definitely pop in, and may even call to order a cashmere scarf I eyed.
Kate R — Google review
Visited the store. Agree with many reviewers that aesthetically, there are many beautiful items. One of the store associates fortunately confirmed that they do NOT authenticate their "designer" pieces, so as an informed buyer I wouldn't purchase until it was authenticated. (Which is why historically are dishonest, but it's shocking its been in business for long with this pattern of behavior) If I was the business owner and wanting to sell designer pieces, amazing great - do it. But also provide proof of authenticity and sell at that higher price. People don't mind buying good looking fakes, just not with a scam involved. A great way to get a lawsuit sent your way considering this is a pattern. Also weird vibes inside - could be so unique and lovely, but it seems management/ownership/employees could use some work to make this retail shop as amazing as it could be.
Caroline C — Google review
I purchased a jacket from Christian Michi for $1700, only to return to my hotel to find a hole in the cuff and the arms pilly. Clearly this was used clothing. I returned to the store the next morning only to find they do not stand behind their merchandise. They refused to refund my money, but offered a store credit, which doesn’t help considering I live a thousand miles away. The good news is I found the exact same jacket at Kevin’s Outdoor Clothing for $700. It was in excellent condition, no holes and no pills. Thank you for reading!
Diane D — Google review
A shop full of counterfeit products and horrible customer service. Nothing like remarking that a pile of Hermès wallets are obviously fake to set a scummy store owner off. We were followed around the store as if she was the third in our couple, the comments were snide and pretentious, and I feel bad for the people who have left other reviews having to experience their predatory return policy. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy angering terrible people. That’s the only reason I’ll go back.
Tony B — Google review
I was in town shopping with a friend and wandered in on a hot day. We both had money to spend, but after the associate looked us up and down upon entering the store. Not sure if it was the linen shorts, or the sweat pouring down our faces, but we were both so turned off we make a quick loop and left. As well, she mentioned something about their riding gear, but we're from the city?!?! Had she been more polite and welcoming, and picked up on the designers we wore, she may have had a successful sale. Too bad now I'm writing a poor review. So much competition near by, this associate needs a lesson in sales. Also, after reading a few other reviews, it seems like we picked up on something that wasn't quite right.
Maria — Google review
It took several hours to get rid of the ick that lingered from walking into this store. I’m a collector of vintage and designer jackets and the store display caught my eye walking by king street yesterday afternoon. The sales lady walked up to me soon as I entered the store and asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. She said this, with no smile on her face and in a condescending tone. When I said happily that I saw The vintage jackets in the window and I came to check her Inventory out, she looked at me with disgust and said they are not vintage there designer and then scoffed. Then she proceeded to follow me around the store like I was going to steal something! I’ve never felt so gross after walking into a store in my life!
Alannah D — Google review
I should have read reviews before purchasing anything at this shop. I paid $415 for a pair of beaded butterfly earrings that I found on the brand’s website for $74. Please please look up any brand you may be considering purchasing from this shop. The mark up is absolutely ridiculous. The store was sneaky and removed the packaging from the earrings so it was difficult to know what you were buying. So so dishonest. Please please do not go here. Do not go here.
Jennifer M — Google review
BEWARE - DO NOT SHOP HERE. The owner is a scam artist preying on tourists and feigning legitimacy on King Street. She is selling FAKE COUNTERFEIT bags at exorbitant prices - I took my bag to the Chanel store upon exit and they immediately confirmed it was fake, even though the owner and staff insisted it was real. She refused to refund me my money. All of the products in the store are significantly marked up from their regular retail and she doesn't take returns AT ALL. Absolutely unethical business practices in 2024. Terrible Better Business Bureau ratings, terrible reviews, AVOID this store and this woman at all costs.

The French Bulldog is the only redeeming part of the store. The owner was one of the rudest people I’ve encountered in my life. There are so many better clothing shops in Charleston with much kinder staff!

I cannot say enough good things about the staff and recent owner of this Charleston shop. As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of reviews based on a full range of customer experience with the subject business. I am not someone who spends large amounts of my time shopping for clothing. When I need something, I tend to frequent shops where I trust the guidance, honesty, and expertise of the staff. I'm very pleased with recent purchases and especially grateful for the owner's responsiveness to a minor concern I had. This is an easy 5 stars and a shop I will return to in the future.

We were in Charleston this week (MTW). I wanted to visit the store Sewing Down South. We decided to walk. It was one mile each way. It was hot, very hot. We passed by this store (FF) and decided to look around. Upon entering we were greeted by an older woman, who said hello but then implied that we were only stopping in for the A/C. There was an older gent at the counter doing paperwork. We stood right next to him and he never looked up. The young girl behind the counter rang up our purchase but gave us the ick face (I guess we were sweaty). I now regret buying anything from this store because the attitudes were attituding that day. I am also disappointed in myself because I felt the need to purchase something just to prove we were legit shoppers and not in there for the cold air. Lesson learned on my part.

I was sort of shocked to see such negative reviews on this cute boutique! My mom and sisters were in town and stopped in this weekend - the owner was so sweet and helped all of us! She wasn't pushy and offered suggestions - she also entertained my mom on the couch while the rest of us girls finished up shopping!! Now the other 2 ladies (who rang us up) weren't friendly and it appeared they were gossiping about us, the owner, or perhaps someone else. 5 stars for the owner, the clothes & the adorable shop dog!!
Maryellen K — Google review
I've always loved the assortment Finicky Filly carries. It's been years since I've purchased something from them so I went in yesterday. I was shocked at how incredibly rude their entire staff was. I said hello when I walked in and they never even looked at me. The owner kept going on and on about some story and her and the other two employees never even left the cash wrap area. I walked right by them, stood around and looked at the jewelry directly across from them and they never acknowledged me. I always try and support local businesses but I will no longer support FF. I am so disappointed as I consider them a Charleston staple.
Molly K — Google review
Walked in to quickly purchase a denim jacket for my plane trip home. I’ve shopped here several times before and knew what I wanted. This time the staff was rude, dismissive and curt of my presence, so much so that I decided to walk out and spend my money elsewhere. I will not be a returning customer.

I’ve shopped at Finicky Filly for a long time and love their customer service and merchandise! The staff always make a point to help with your shopping experience (which is tremendously helpful!). I feel like they seem to know most customers names, and the atmosphere is super welcoming and friendly too. Of course, my favorite part is that they carry both big names and local and smaller designers that make things you wouldn't necessarily see anywhere else downtown. It's fun to shop at a small, local boutique too!

I ordered a Sunshine Tienda hat online as it was sold out on their website. I own two others and love them so I was super excited to find this from a boutique that carries their brand. First of all, they sent a 150 hat in a make shift box through usps. I would have paid to ship through ups gladly. I didn’t realize until after the fact. When the box arrived a bit later than expected, it was completely smashed so you can imagine what the hat looked like inside. Honestly that wasn’t even the worst part because that MIGHT have been salvageable but there is a white, paper size tag literally SEWN the top of the brim of the hat!! THE TOP! Not inside or underneath, the top. That’s not how sunshine tienda arrives. So now I’ve been trying to contact this store to rectify this situation but after several emails and a failed attempt to contact them through instagram, I’m afraid I’m out 150 dollars. Live and learn, this is the last time I’ll ever order from here and they could have had a new and loyal customer but customer service is obviously not their forte here lately.
Lindsey P — Google review
I went in the king st store with the intention of buying a new fall dress. I have other beau + ro and similar in my closet. The store was not busy, 1-2 other customers and had at least 2 staff members. The women were casually helping the other women and walking around organizing etc. The did not greet me or offer me a fitting room despite walking by me several times and seeing me holding up different dresses. I wanted the dress but I was so turned off by this experience I walked out empty handed. The taller blonde woman looked directly at me and didn’t acknowledge me though she had many opportunities. We even made eye contact a few times. I got the vibe they only serve a certain type of customer, very off putting and quite probably discriminatory. Not only will I not shop at that location but I will not buy anything from the brand ever again. Fashion, dresses and wealth are great but if you don’t treat others with dignity they are completely worthless.
Sara P — Google review
Wow….I never had the reaction that other poor women had. She should try again. The selection of clothes is wonderful, the sales people very knowledgeable, and always make me feel comfortable in my selections. I am a hard to fit size, and they take the time to work with me. They don’t know me, but they always greet me and have a welcoming manner. Which surprised me when I saw the upset review.

Clothes felt like if temu opened a retail store and put Paris tags on them. A few nice things but the quality was not worth the price.

We visited this shop and were very disappointed in the customer service. We were not greeted and basically ignored while three employees chatted behind the desk. Never once were we asked to be assisted. I did find two dresses that I was interested in but couldn’t get myself to purchase as I can’t support a shop that is so ambivalent towards its customers.
Sara I — Google review
I love shopping in the little boutiques along King Street when in Charleston and usually have a great experience.  I had never been in Beau & Ro, so went in to look around.  There were a few other customers in at the time but the store didn't look particularly busy. No one greeted me, which was odd - that is customary in all the boutiques.  There were a couple items I was interested in, and wanted to ask about sizes and selection availability. I had also chosen a few items I wanted to try on. A couple of associates were standing and talking to each other; one associate appeared to be doing something but made eye contact with me and saw the items I wanted to try on draped over my arm.   She quickly looked away and didn't ask if she could start a dressing room, or if I had questions, or ask one of the other associates to assist me, etc.  I continued to look around. After having no engagement from the associates, I decided it was just a bad day, returned the items to the racks and left the store.  I went back in the next day thinking it was going to be different - no, it was the same, if not worse.  The store has a great selection of items from clothing, accessories, jewelry, etc - it shows that a lot of thought goes into what they choose to have in the store - for that, they get 5+ stars.  The rest, however, is one star at best. Customers are greeted with a sign out front stating, "voted best store on king street*" the asterisk leads to fine print, that says, "by our employees".  Well, Beau & Ro, your employees aren't keeping you in business and paying your overhead - you should focus more on how those employees make your customers feel when entering your store.

Nestled on Broad Street, Boysterous Couture is a delightful leather goods boutique that beautifully marries classic elegance with vibrant flair. This unique shop specializes in crafting custom accessories for both men and women, utilizing exotic leathers like alligator and stingray, along with eye-catching color combinations. From stunning oyster shell bow ties to luxurious stingray handbags and ostrich feather watch bands, each piece is a testament to the artisanship of its creators.
I am a long time Boysterous fan/customer and cannot rave about them enough! Nicholas recently made me a custom keychain and has previously crafted me a personalized handbag. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement. The talent, craftsmanship, and passion that go into a Boysterous creation is truly one of a kind. I will forever and always be a Boysterous girlie 💖👜
Maggie C — Google review
I fell in love the moment I walked into Boysterous. Nicholas, the owner and designer, was so charming and walked us through the entire collection. I was absolutely stunned when I learned that everything was hand sewn. In fact, Nicolas was literally stitching a wallet together as he showed us around. I do not have words for my new purse. It’s perfectly me and makes me so happy to know that nobody else has one like it. It’s truly an exclusively designed bag and I couldn’t be happier with it.
Mia B — Google review
Nicholas is truly an artist-craftsman. I made my first purchase a month or two ago, and I honestly don’t want to wear another watch band. When I first read about stingray leather, I expected a rigid, slightly uncomfortable band. Instead, I received the most comfortable and fashionable watch band I could imagine. I haven’t found another craftsman whose work even comes close. If you’re looking for a statement piece that’s both stylish and incredibly comfortable, this is the place.

Boysterous - the place where art meets fashion. The hand stitched products elevate any outfit with their creative designs, unique leathers, and exclusive animal skins. I personally love my Ostrich wallet that I have had for years and the oyster bow tie is a true show stopper. I recently wore my oyster bow tie to a wedding in Italy and people could not get enough of it. Nicholas puts so much creativity and passion into each design and it shows through their quality and longevity. I cannot recommend Boysterous enough. Visit the store whenever you’re in Charleston and see for yourself!

I had a custom bass guitar built for my wife for Christmas and had the idea to have a leather pick guard. I knew Nicholas (Boysterous) through a friend and we started chatting about the possibilities. He took on this custom project, which if you look at his stuff, isn’t in his typical portfolio of things. He absolutely knocked it out of the park! It totally makes the guitar and adds a unique touch that not many people can say they have. So whether you’re looking for something from his shop, or looking to have a custom project done, go check these guys out!

I honestly cant say enough AMAZING things about this place! I'm so impressed by Nick and all his truly handy work! What you do is ONE OF A KIND! Indigo and Cotton is stupid lit I love it we might say it signals a new direction for southern style very nice curated. The Impeccable Pig is a laid-back boutique that offers a range of stylish women's clothing and accessories. Located on King Street in Charleston, it is surrounded by other popular stores like Candle Fish and Beau & Ro. Customers appreciate the friendly service and affordable yet high-quality items available at the store. Visitors love the beautiful pieces and often find exactly what they're looking for, whether it's a lovely dress or an outfit that perfectly matches their style.
The Impeccable Pig became one of my favorite boutiques during our Charleston trip. I discovered chic and affordable outfits, perfect for our celebrations. The friendly staff made shopping a joy. Fashion-forward visitors in Charleston should not miss this gem.

I had the worst customer service experience of my life here. Despite coming in over an hour before close and making sure they were still open, the two girls working kept cleaning while we looked at earrings (which normally is totally fine! Closing duties need to get done), and proceeded to follow us closely with a Swiffer, almost running into us multiple times and scrubbing the ground as soon as we moved. It was very obvious they did not want us here, and any attempts to make conversation were met with blank stares and being blatantly ignored. We were in and out in (I timed it) three minutes since we felt so uncomfortable. Despite seeing a number of things that were interesting I refused to spend any money here. Never before have I been chased out of a store with cleaning materials, but I suppose there’s a first for everything. Would not recommend

Love this store so much! The gals greeted me with a nice smile and offered assistance. I was going to purchase a skirt but I had to wait so I put it on hold and I came back and they gave me 10% off too! Very affordable but high quality clothes. Will definitely be purchasing from here again!

Bought a shirt and attempted to return it within 24 hours as I just didn’t like the fit when I got home. Was told no returns allowed despite the fact I just purchased it the day before and tags were in tact and it had never been worn except being tried on. They should warn that there are no refunds on any purchases as I absolutely was not told this as check out Just terrible

My girlfriend loves all the clothes here and I recently got her a sweater for her birthday that she loves, but I have to take off a star because they don’t accept gift cards in the store. We had to pay for things with dollars even though we had a gift card here because it only works online and the things she liked in the store were not available online. This just creates an annoying customer experience and I would recommend that they get it figured out

I’m so disappointed in this place. I truly am. I went into this store this afternoon in downtown Charleston and had inquired about an adorable dress in the window. When I went in the girl who was working was extremely unfriendly. I asked where the other sizes of the dress would be located in the store and instead of leading me to the dresses, she informed me they “only had small and medium” and implied I shouldn’t look any further at that specific dress. It felt a lot like the movie mean girls when they only had “sizes 3, 6, or 9 and to try somewhere else.” HIGHLY disappointed and would’ve loved to have supported this local shop during a tough time. I will never go back into any location. That is absolutely disheartening. Shame on that girl and hopefully the store doesn’t support girls who body shame other girls.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ House of Sage in Charleston, South Carolina, is a hidden gem for anyone looking to elevate their style! Terrible customer service. Manager was rude when I politely asked about the return policy and interrupted me multiple times. Passive aggressive attitude. The employees were having personal conversations around customers, which I find inappropriate. So focused on talking, they didn’t even realize I walked in the store. Inventory is cheap and overpriced. Returns are only store credit. Don’t waste your time, go to Apricot Lane Boutique instead (great inventory and staff). If you are going to spend your hard earned money somewhere, spend it in a place who treats customers with regard and respect. I don’t even write reviews, but I was so appalled at how unprofessional and unpleasant the experience was. I want my refund, not in store credit, but my actual money back, as I do not wish to buy any clothing or accessories with House of Sage ever again.

The clothing that I purchased from this store, I found the exact outfit online for half the price they sell it for!! I would not recommend anyone to shop with them also because of the return policy they have is the worst I have ever seen! If you purchase a gift for someone special and it doesn't fit, they won't even let the customers exchange it!! Not good customer service to me!! And the manager is. Callie's Hot Little Biscuit is a cozy counter-serve spot that offers a variety of freshly baked, handmade Southern biscuits in sweet and savory flavors like cheese and chive, country ham, blackberry, and black pepper bacon. In addition to their award-winning biscuits, they also serve pimento cheese sandwiches and other locally inspired breakfast, lunch, and late-night treats.
Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit was the second stop on my Charleston foodie tour, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We visited the Upper King Street location, and from the moment we walked in, it felt like classic Southern comfort. The biscuits are made with just four simple ingredients, but somehow they pack in so much flavor. We tried a few things, but the standouts were the bacon, egg & cheese buttermilk biscuit sandwich and the pimento cheese biscuit—honestly, one of the best versions of pimento cheese I’ve ever had. They also serve creamy Carolina grits in a biscuit bowl, which was such a cozy and delicious surprise. If you’re into cooking, they sell their biscuit mix and even offer biscuit-making classes. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Charleston!

Good, quick biscuit spot. There’s no seating and this place gets packed so plan to eat at the standing counter or take to go. They don’t have the chicken on the main menu but make sure to check out the specials at the register. We got the hot honey chicken and the bacon egg and cheese. They also have biscuits and other treats to go.

Delicious buttery goodness! Callie’s biscuits are flaky yet filling, with crispy, crunch crust to it. I got the sausage, egg and pimento cheese spread. Yum!! Awesome. Sent a big order to a friend whose mother in law passed. I’d planned to go to Charleston for 3 years…. But hadn’t made it. So I ordered for me…. And family. Almost as good as mine. Lewis Barbecue Charleston is the go-to spot for the best Texas-style house-smoked meats in Charleston. Pitmaster John Lewis, a Texas native, brings his expertise and hand-welded smokers to deliver flavorful smoked barbecue with traditional cowboy favorites. The industrial-hip space features a bustling bar and ample outdoor picnic tables, creating a vibe reminiscent of Austin, Texas. Guests can enjoy their choice of meats served cafeteria-style along with classic Texas barbecue sides and a full bar.
My husband keeps saying how good Lewis BBQ was! The brisket was the best he says he ever had. The turkey was mwlt in your mouth and crazy moist! My son enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. The brisket nachos were a meal themselves and were tasty. The Mac and cheese and tallow fries were delectable. We also got the potato salad and a hunk of cheddar cheese, both are very good. The potato salad has a vinegar flavor and just wasn't what we ate used to. That restaurant has a great atmosphere. The location of the drinks is a little backwards and is back by where you order food rather than being after the checkout. Parking also was a little hard as the small parking lot was full so we had to find street parking a street away but helped get a short walk in after our huge meal. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area again. May have to convince my husband to book a cruise out of Charleston just to have an excuse to return!

We are always in the prowl for best bbq. We only ever thought Mad Jacks in Cloud Croft New Mexico was the only best place; Lewis BBQ has exceeded our expectations! Best brisket and turkey we have ever had! Its a bonus, since we are from NM/AZ that they use Hatch Green chilis in their food! That makes it absolutely incredible to even find Hatch green chili anything in the south! Very very highly recommended!!

If you want BBQ in Charleston, this is the place. I’ve tried most of the local spots, and Lewis BBQ consistently comes out on top. Whenever I have friends in from out of town, this is the one place we always make a point to visit. I’ve never had a dish here that wasn’t great. I don’t even like turkey, yet I order a full pound of their sliced turkey every time because it’s that good. And whatever you do, don’t skip the Green Chili BBQ sauce. The corn pudding, mac and cheese, late-night nachos, sandwiches—everything hits. They also have a great bar with solid drinks; the frozen mule is fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with comfy seating and plenty of space outside. Expect a line, but it moves quickly and is absolutely worth it.

I highly recommend this restaurant! Haley, Will, and Nolan provided an amazing experience! They were personable, helpful with questions, and make sure my family visiting was taken care of. First time. Definitely reminds me of Texas brisket in the DFW area. The pulled pork blew me away. Moist , tender and very flavorful. Coleslaw was completely different from any coleslaw I have had. It was good and refreshing though. Definitely give this a place try if you're in Charleston

Everyone knows you have to come to Lewis BBQ when you are in Charleston. This was our first visit and it didnt disappoint. Chopped brisket sammich, corn pudding and collard greens. These collard greens were so good I had to rate them higher than my wife's family recipe and I've never done that b4. The corn pudding was hands down my favorite! Im craving it again already.

Waited a whole year to come back to this place. Food is honey and comforting. We really like the pulled pork, Mac n cheese and the banana pudding. Oh and don't forget the sweet tea! We got lucky and found a spot in their parking lot. The wait in line was about 30 minutes but well worth the wait and the drive from Summerville. Every time we are out this way we will stop here. They ship everything nationwide now so we're going to order some for our friends and family to try it.

Marion Square is a vibrant urban green space that spans 6.5 acres, offering a delightful escape in the heart of Charleston. This historic park, once the training grounds for The Citadel military academy, has transformed into a lively hub for community events and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy weekly Saturday Farmers Markets and various festivals like Charleston Fashion Week and the Food + Wine Festival throughout the year.
Today, December 22, 2024, my wife and I decided to take the short, five-minute walk from our hotel over to Marion Square—and we’re so glad we did. This historic park, named after Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion (the “Swamp Fox”), has long been a centerpiece of Charleston, once serving as a parade ground for The Citadel. Nowadays, it’s a lively gathering place known for its seasonal festivities and local events. Because it’s the holiday season, Marion Square was decked out in full winter cheer. We were greeted by a towering Christmas tree sparkling with lights, and a giant “JOY” sign complete with a glowing pineapple in the center—an iconic symbol of Southern hospitality. There was also a captivating Christmas light tunnel that would be stunning to see lit up at night. In another corner of the park stood a beautiful fountain adorned with various iron animal sculptures, each intricately crafted like its own work of art. We loved strolling through the park’s pathways and soaking in the festive atmosphere. We can’t wait to return and experience Marion Square all over again—holiday season or not!

A Saturday Stroll Worth Taking Marion Square is a lovely spot to spend a Saturday, especially if you enjoy walking, browsing, and soaking in local charm. The park itself is spacious and well-kept, with a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment. What makes it really special on Saturdays is the market. Local vendors set up with handmade goods, fresh produce, art, and unique crafts. There’s something extra meaningful about knowing the items were made or grown by the people selling them—it adds a personal touch that big stores just can’t replicate. Whether you’re strolling through with a coffee in hand, picking up gifts, or just enjoying the vibe, Marion Square offers a warm and welcoming experience. It’s the kind of place that gives you a real taste of the local community.
Cheryl A — Google review
We really enjoyed walking through Marion Square and found it extremely well maintained. This large park is crisscrossed with gravel paths and covered in grass. There are several displays, a fountain and a monument on the property. A really beautiful and well landscaped area.

Great spot for fun afternoon in downtown Charleston. Offers plenty of shops arounds to grab bite to eat or shop too after enjoying the park. Plenty of community events hosted often like Cooper River Bridge Run (post-run-festival) with music, food and free items from popular vendors like Harris Teeters. I recommend parking at Visitor Center Parking Garage or Aquarium Garage less than 5 min way.

Shopping
Northwoods Mall is a vast indoor shopping center that offers an extensive array of stores, a food court with various dining options, and a children's play area. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll around the mall by starting on the right-hand side and completing their journey on the left-hand side while exploring different shops along the way. The dining area provides ample seating for customers to enjoy their meals comfortably.
Stopped by Northwoods Mall while visiting North Charleston and was pleasantly surprised. The mall has a great mix of well-known stores and local spots, which makes it easy to find something for just about everyone. It’s not one of those giant, overwhelming malls—but that’s part of the charm. It’s easy to navigate and not overly crowded. I appreciated how clean and well-kept the common areas were. There was a good variety of shops, from clothing and shoes to books and beauty. Several places had great sales, and the staff in the stores we visited were friendly and helpful. The food court had a nice mix too—everything from quick snacks to a full meal. We grabbed a bite and enjoyed just sitting for a bit, people-watching and relaxing. There’s even a Planet Fitness in the mall, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, Northwoods Mall was a great little stop—convenient location, clean, with plenty of options and a laid-back atmosphere. Would definitely come back when I’m in the area again.

The mall was hot temperature wise, and the bathrooms were dirty. Overall there was a great selection of stores to shop from, but the mall could use a good cleaning.
Dez P — Google review
Good selection of stores. It seemed dark in some places, and I got a weird creepy feeling sometimes. There wasn't a whole lot of light. It would be perfect for Halloween shopping but not great if your a parent keeping an eye out on little kids. I didn't see any Law Enforcement but there was one Security guard. Smelled good near the food court with different cultural oriented food options. There is no longer a Chick-fil-A inside Northwoods Mall. It's been replace by a privately owned Soulfood place. I bought a Coke there and that cost $2.50. The whole food court was pretty expensive. It was busy, especially with teenagers. It's the "cool place" for them to hang out like it was back in the 80's. Many of the stores were pared down on their inventory. I went into the H&M store and every time someone walked out with their H&M stuff, that they had just purchased, the alarm went off and an employee escorted them back to the registers, made them pull everything out of their bag and verified their purchases. I'm not joking, every - single - time. Bath & Body Works had a substantial amount of employees working and I kept getting asked if I needed assistance. I'd move a couple feet and an employee would ask if I need anything. It got annoying after the 3rd employee approached me. To be fair it seems like a common practice in Bath and Body Works stores. The employees where nice and I ended up getting into a conversation with one about how they use hidden doors in their displays to hold extra products. Yes, I know, not a big deal but the display looked cool. Oh, if you have little kids you may want to steer clear of Spencers, the entire back half of the store is dedicated to adult lifestyle toy selections to include stuffed BDSM bears. However, they do have a large selection of t-shirts. I was looking for a specific t-shirt as a gift and the friendly employee I spoke with was very knowledgeable about the shirts they had in stock. All in all it was a decent place and the teens had a great time.

I truly enjoyed every second of my visit to Northwoods Mall! There’s a great selection of stores to explore, and BoxLunch was definitely the highlight—so many fun and unique items, I could’ve spent all day there. The overall vibe of the mall was welcoming and enjoyable. My only complaint would be the bathrooms. One of the toilets was continuously flushing, and the stalls felt a bit outdated with noticeable gaps that didn’t offer much privacy. Hopefully that’s something that can be improved, because everything else was wonderful!

I am rating the food court and restrooms only. I wish I could give zero stars. The tables at the food court were all nasty, we couldn't find one clean one to sit at on a Thursday around 1pm. The bathrooms near the food court were worse. They not only looked like they hadn't been cleaned that day, I'm confident they hadn't been cleaned all week. Unacceptable.

Located at 4201 Spruill Avenue, North Charleston, SC, Firefly Distillery is a must-visit for spirit enthusiasts. The distillery offers an impressive selection of 25 spirits including vodka in various flavors, moonshine in seven different varieties, and rum such as Sea Island Java and Sea Island Gold. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour followed by a tasting flight of six Firefly spirits. The on-site tasting room also serves cocktails for guests to savor.
We have been here for a few events and this was our first concert here. Very, very well done. Excellent set up, lots of space, good food truck selection, a mister to cool off, a free water refill station, plenty of bathrooms (porta potties) and the parking was not an issue for us (we got there early enough to get a spot on site) and parking was free! I would absolutely, 100% go here for a concert again, an excellent place to see live music or for any other event. We do not drink alcohol so I cannot comment on that, but they did offer non alcoholic choices, which is great.

I’ve been wanting to go to Firefly and my parents were here visiting so it was a perfect afternoon activity. We got there just in time for a tasting with Laurie (sorry if I got the spelling wrong!) and she was great! What a fun experience for all of us! We had several favorite pours, way too many to list. And the gift shop was hard to leave, so many fantastic souvenirs. We’ll be back, with our next out-of-towners or by ourselves!

On my recent trip to Charleston, I had seen this on one of my searches for things to do in the area. I was not familiar with the brand and did not have high expectations. I was wrong.. I was welcomed in a very friendly and upbeat manner from the moment I walked in the door. Was told about the tastings they do so I participated. I have to say, was very impressed with the products here! Not usually a “coconut cake” moonshine or “peach vodka” guy, but everything I tried was very good! Again, the entire team here was very friendly and made the visit very enjoyable. Was able to also have a couple of cocktails made at their bar which were excellent. I actually came back the day I was heading back home to pick up a couple more things. As you can see from pictures, I ended up buying a few of the different spirits offered. I would highly recommend a visit to Firefly and also to try their spirits. Thank you for a great time!!

My boyfriend and I have been going to Firefly for a couple of years now. We initially did a tasting which was excellent and really highlighted the difference between Firefly and other brands such as Ole Smokey. I am not a fan of OS since their moonshine can taste very artificial and more like acetone than the flavor itself. Firefly has wonderful Fruit Punch shine that goes excellent with Sprite for a mixer. They also have a beautiful bar and atmosphere. Their gift shop is awesome. Overall, we adore this distillery and make it a point to visit whenever we are in town.

We had a great time at the Alex Warren show. I flew 2,600 miles from North Idaho to be at this show. The venue was great! Very laid back vibe. I loved the whole experience. Only thing I was not impressed with were the lines for food. We stood in line for 1.5 hours, just to be turned away with 1 customer in front of us. I wish someone would have come out sooner to let us all know they would be running out of food. Otherwise, we had a fantastic time!

As a full-time professional event photographer, I get to experience a lot of really cool venues in Charleston. Shooting at Firefly Distillery was a fantastic experience!!! I had the pleasure of photographing the Seamon Whiteside 40th Anniversary Celebration last weekend. The music, the food trucks, the decorations, the staff...everything was absolutely amazing!

Oyster Roast was very well put together inside due to the rain. Music was good, oysters kept coming, drinks were awesome. All staff were welcoming and pleasant
Laura V — Google review
I cannot believe how awesome this place is! We flew in from Iowa to see Alex Warren HERE. I wanted a smaller, unique venue for this artist and it could not have been better. Exactly what I was hoping for! It was such a great experience, I would fly out again for another favorite artist performing at Firefly.

Nestled in the heart of Charleston, the Reinert Fine Art and Sculpture Garden Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. This charming gallery showcases an impressive array of artwork from both local and international artists, making it a vibrant part of the city's artistic landscape. Located conveniently near other galleries on Broad Street and within the picturesque French Quarter, visitors are treated to an immersive experience rather than just a shopping trip.
This Art Gallery was stunning. I loved Reinert’s work especially and hope to buy some one day. I loved walking through the sculpture garden. Both employees we met were kind and helpful. They both gave us wonderful information about the gallery, the area, and the art. They were polite and were welcoming to us!
Ally B — Google review
My wife and I are always impressed by the incredible range of styles showcased at this gallery. The diversity in subject matter among the artists adds depth and richness to the experience—yet the quality remains consistently outstanding across the board. If you're shopping in Charleston, this gallery is a must-visit. Take your time exploring the collection, and be sure to speak with Rick, Diana, and the rest of the team. Their passion for art and helping you find the perfect piece for your home truly sets this place apart.
James S — Google review
I had an incredible time at this gallery thanks to the lady working it (can’t remember her name, is an interior designer). She made sure to tell me all about the artists and their pieces despite me just being a viewer versus a buyer. The pieces in here were incredible and the court yard with the painting in it was super cool.
Elizabeth — Google review
Good Times are captured throughout this Gallery. I smiled all the way down King Street after visiting this gallery!
Mary C — Google review
Best art gallery in Charleston. Rick Reinert himself is a master oil painter. His own masterpieces are available, along with works of some of the top artists from across the the US, China, Russia and elsewhere. It’s a must see if you are in Charleston.
Paul C — Google review
My husband and I wandered into the gallery on our first trip to Charleston this past week. It ended up being one of the highlights of my trip to view the paintings there, we both gravitated specifically to Rick Reinert's work. Megan (i think that was her name) spent a lot of time helping us learn more about the artist and his work and was so kind when I told her they reminded me of my father's work as he also did predominantly oil paintings in a similar style and that he passed in January and just seeing and enjoying Rick's paintings was such a comfort to me. This gallery has beautiful work from so many great artists and has lovely people working there. We had no idea what a great thing we found when we walked in and I'm so glad we did!

Beautiful gallery and gardens. Wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable staff. My husband and I bought two pieces (one by Reinert) over the holidays. The Reinert is hanging in our living room and we are very happy with it. Shipping was fast.

My wife and I both agree this is our favorite gallery in Charleston! They always have an amazing display from a variety of talented artists. We have purchased a few pieces here & normally work with Jason but everyone is friendly & knowledgeable. Do yourself a favor and stroll through next time you're in the area!

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Charleston, The Charleston Place stands as a beacon of luxury and Southern charm. This sophisticated hotel spans an entire city block, boasting entrances on both King and Meeting streets. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a stunning lobby adorned with an imperial staircase, a magnificent crystal chandelier, and exquisite Italian marble floors. With 433 spacious guest rooms that blend modern elegance with classic Southern decor—think mahogany furnishings and damask accents—this hotel offers a truly unique experience.
Stayed here 3 nights Aug 22-25 for a birthday getaway. Service was excellent around the hotel including the Palmetto cafe for breakfast each day and the Thoroughbred Club (special mention to Chris our waiter) for lunch and amazing curated specialty cocktails. Greg our driver from the hotel went above and beyond with great service. We loved the access to the shops downtown within the hotel and were always greeted with hellos from everyone when walking around the property. The gym was perfect size. Equipment seems new and it was very clean. The Outdoor Markets are less than a 3 minute walk from the hotel if that is something you’re interested in seeing. Yes there is currently construction at the original main entrance but they have done a good job of working around that and we were given several updates via email reminding us of the construction prior to our stay. Would stay here again for sure. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

Wow. This is now our favorite hotel and we travel a lot. Always adventuring trying new places yet we are already planning a return trip! John was a great bellhop, Maria at the coffee shop, and Eric at front desk. They try to use your name which so impressed. They work HARD to serve 6 star service and it blew us away. Wow. 15 years experience in the service industry and this was next level impressive! The staff has “it” and they love working there!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. From the moment we checked in we were treated very well. The hotel provided my wife with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a small chocolate cake for her birthday. The room was recently refurbished and it was wonderful. Location is perfect as you are within short walking distance to both restaurants and shopping. Only a block away from the Market Street outdoor market. The Palmetto Cafe restaurant on site is great for breakfast. Ashleigh in room service was great in delivering us great drinks during our stay. Will definitely be back when we come to visit again.

The hotel is going through a “Re-imaginations”, so unfortunately there is no access to the pool (other hotels will give you a free day pass) and there is a bit of noise. Otherwise everything was fantastic! Excellent food, clean & comfortable rooms, and an ideal location! Definitely make time to check out the spa and make an appointment with Heather for a facial! She is thoughtful, thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and absolutely a sweet human being! The rest of staff is also SUPERIOR! I was under the weather with a cold virus and they sent complimentary tea to my room, fresh towels & linens, and accommodated my every need without hesitation. In addition, the staff was very helpful allowing me to check out early. A HUGE shoutout to Teresa Patterson for proactively following up on my billing to insure it was correct and I was not overcharged for my early departure. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Thank you! Danielle Jones

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in the most perfect location! The Charleston is everything you want for a stay in this beautiful city & you can walk everywhere. The staff was so friendly and made us feel like royalty from check-in to check-out. The rooms were elegant and cozy, and the entire vibe was relaxed but upscale. I honestly can’t think of a single negative thing to say. Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting Charleston!

My husband and I recently stayed at The Charleston Place to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and the experience was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly special. A beautiful welcome awaited us in our room with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries thoughtfully arranged, setting the tone for a memorable stay. The room itself exuded southern charm and elegance, creating the perfect atmosphere for our celebration. We decided to upgrade to the Club Level when we arrived, and I’m so glad we did. It offered a peaceful retreat with light bites and picturesque views—an ideal spot to relax and recharge. I also want to highlight the outstanding service provided by the concierge team. They ensured we had a driver available for all of our outings, making everything seamless and stress-free. A special shoutout to our driver, Greg—he was fantastic. After picking us up from dinner one evening, he took the time to show us some hidden gems around the city, sharing rich stories and history along the way. It was such a thoughtful gesture that added a meaningful layer to our trip. Before ending the night, we stopped by Thoroughbred Club for dessert and drinks, and it was the perfect way to close out the evening—delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, our stay exceeded every expectation. Charleston Place made our anniversary truly special, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. It may just become our new favorite getaway.

Pros: Super great location. Downtown Charleston, easy to walk to just about everything. The staff is incredibly nice and thoughtful and kind. Cons: Rooms insulation is terrible. You can hear everything next door and hallway. Absolutely terrible. I have stayed at lodging road motels that are quieter. For what they charge it is ridiculous that they cannot provide better insulation from noise for their guests. Cons: construction - their courtyard is under construction, which happens but they had no shame in charging extra for balconies overlooking the construction. Not a classy move. More cons: their valet service is hard to manage to get your car because of the construction. So regardless of what time you ask for your car be prepared to wait additional 20-30 minutes, even if you call an hour ahead. So if you need your car for 2:30, tell them you need it for 2 and be prepared to go down and wait. So to summarize - incredible staff, worthy of a 5 star hotel. Terrible facilities, dated rooms, and building structure, worthy of a 1 star. Make your own decisions.

Our recent stay to Charleston Place was better than expected. Was back in town for my 50 High School Reunion. (St Andrew’s High class of 75). Upon arrival we upgraded our room to a suite, staying for a week we found we needed a little more room not to feel we were on top of each other. We were lucky to arrive during Tennis Tournament going on, and we all know who we were routing for. Big screen set up in Courtyard. After Tennis was over, The Masters was starting. Being in Charleston at Meeting & Market best location to stay, while being home. This hotel has the best and professional Bell Staff which is incorporated with there transportation department. We met and were assisted by the whole Crew and used them to make our stay like we were at home. To many names to type. This Crew keeps this Hotel on the map. We ate in all the restaurants, used the Spa for massage & nails. See all of you soon and thanks again!

With 16 tastefully designed guest rooms adorned with soothing white furnishings, guests can unwind in style while enjoying complimentary breakfast each morning.
Zero George was an amazing experience for our anniversary trip and first time to Charleston. The service from everyone who works there was top-tier and helpful. Their location is great and close to anywhere you'd like to go, either biking or walking. Definitely try the Caviar Bar! Morning breakfast and coffee was always fresh. Everyone made our stay so nice and welcoming and we will be back :)

Visited with my sister this past week. I’ve had this hotel on my list of “Must Visit” hotels for years, and said the next time I came to Charleston, I’d stay here. Pros: The hotel itself was even better than what I had envisioned. The grounds are charming and magical, and love the somewhat all inclusive feel to it, with free wine and cheese hour + free breakfast. The rooms are well appointed with waters, cookies, and great robes. I absolutely loved the property. Cons: The service was lacking, and not 5-star. Bad experience with some of the staff. We did the tasting menu with an 830 pm reservation, and was rushed through it, and lights being turned off while still eating. Had a not so great interaction with a bartender who snapped at me when I asked if they had a martini list, and felt we were being judged at check in/check out, but did have great experiences with some of the staff. So it wasn’t all bad. If I didn’t love the hotel grounds so much, I’d probably not come back, but because I loved the vibe of the hotel so much, and location, I’ll come back again and give it another shot on my next trip to Charleston.

The best hotel in the world — Zero George, Charleston. There are beautiful hotels, and then there is Zero George — a place that feels like a perfectly written story you never want to end. From the moment you step inside, everything here breathes quiet elegance and southern charm. The courtyard with its jasmine-scented air, the creaking wooden floors, the slow rhythm of the city outside the gates — it all feels like time has gently stopped to let you rest and enjoy. The service is pure perfection: warm, discreet, and deeply personal. You feel like everyone here genuinely cares about your comfort, but never overdoes it. Breakfast in the garden is a ritual — homemade granola, fresh pastries, and the kind of coffee that makes you want to linger for hours. The rooms are filled with light and character, every detail thoughtfully chosen — from the linen bedding to the vintage-inspired lighting. And of course, the restaurant. Dining here is an experience that rivals Michelin stars — seasonal, creative, and full of soul. I’ve stayed in many beautiful places, but Zero George is in a category of its own. It’s not just a hotel — it’s a feeling you’ll want to carry with you long after you’ve left.
Kristina Z — Google review
Best stay I've had anywhere. The property is absolutely stunning & the service is top notch. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in one of the Anson suites - loved how oversized it was & having a separate vanity room to do makeup and get ready in. The room was stocked with carafes of water and a nespresso machine. We had a huge semi-private patio that we ate breakfast on each morning. The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable. There are 2 cleaning services per day and they bring fresh baked cookies, fresh carafes of water, ear buds and slippers with the turn down service at night. So many items were branded with their logo, which made all the details feel intentional. There is a white noise machine in the room. We made a reservation at the caviar bar and were able to order one of the items from the tasting menu. Everything was so good, I can't wait to come back and do the testing menu. There is also complimentary wine & charcuterie at 5PM each day - you can sit in the gardens/courtyard. The location is about a 10 minute walk from most things downtown. We uber'ed at night and didn't have any issues. Highly recommend, I can't wait to return!

This is the best hotel in Charleston but let me clarify. If you're looking for a quaint, historic hotel, you can't go wrong with this place. If you're expecting a more modern hotel with all the accoutrements that come with large, five-star experiences, you may be left wanting. Most people who visit Charleston are doing it to experience the history of the city. There's no better way to do that than staying at this hotel which absolutely oozes authenticity. The five interconnected Federal houses are absolutely beautiful. While you're a relatively easy walk from the middle of everything, nothing is really right at your doorstep. Bicycles make the journey easier and much more enjoyable. The restaurant at this hotel is superb, but it's expensive, and reservations are essential.

We stayed at Zero George for our anniversary and we absolutely loved our stay here. The property was beautifully maintained and is a great place for couples to stay. The location of the property is another great added advantage as well as it is very easy to either walk or bike to downtown Charleston. From the general hospitality, to extremely quick and prompt responses to any requests from our own end and the little touches such as cookies as soon as we arrived, to a luggage tag souvenir at the end when we were leaving the place made sure we will remember Zero George for a long time. Lastly, the breakfast also deserves an honorable mention as it was extremely fresh and tasty.
Apoorva G — Google review
The food is so good, almost indescribable. Their ability to fuse taste, texture, and temperature is amazing. Tried the 6-course food tasting with wine pairing. Sommelier could not have done a better job with the pairing. Worth every cent!
Kieran H — Google review
11/10 dining experience! My husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu, add caviar, add wine pairings, add waygu and it was absolutely incredible. The level of service the staff upholds is chefs kiss. Worth every penny! We can’t wait to come back and see the next tasting menu they create. Cannot say more about how wonderful our culinary experience was!
