Michigan Theater, a historical landmark that opened in 1928, was initially celebrated as a Shrine to the Arts. Designed by Detroit architect Maurice Finkel, this grand theater with over 1,700 seats and an elaborate Barton theater organ was originally intended for silent film exhibition. Today, it continues to be an integral part of Ann Arbor's cultural scene, hosting diverse films and cultural events.
A must for cinema lovers in the mitten. The interior is stellar, and the theater’s programming reflects respect for the art of film from all areas of its history. My most recent showing involved a filled theater in harmonious laughter watching Tim Robinson’s ‘Friendship’.

Great location, comfortable seating. I have enjoyed a couple of films here, and hope to enjoy a few more, maybe even a concert.

Cool venue! Reminds me of the Fox Theatre but much smaller. I love the artistry in the design. Beautiful.

Small theatre with movie theatre style concessions. Comfortable seats. Located in safe area with lots of parking. Friendly ushers.

This theater is a true gem! I recently took my toddler to see Blippi live, and it was an amazing experience. The theater itself is beautiful and well-maintained, with plenty of comfortable seating. The variety of snacks available was impressive, and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they even provided booster seats for my toddler to ensure a great view of the show. The theater also has spacious and clean bathrooms, including a family bathroom, which was a huge plus for us. The parking garage is extremely close, which was a huge relief, as I was able to walk my toddler to the theater without having to bring a stroller. The show itself was fantastic, and my toddler had a blast. The energy was electric, and the performers were incredibly engaging. I can't wait to catch the next live show at this theater! I highly recommend this theater to anyone looking for a fun and memorable experience.

Incredible!! Gorgeous historic theatre that has clearly had a lot of love put into its upkeep. Had a member take me and my sibling for a late afternoon screening that had a pretty decent turnout for a Thursday! I was so impressed by the organ player (see clip) who was playing patriotic tunes for July 4th holiday. One of the most memorable and exciting moviegoing experiences in my life!
Elk P — Google review
This was my first visit to the Michigan Theater to see Sarah Milican. The staff was very friendly and the building is beautiful. My only issue is that if you are more than 6 feet tall, your knees will hit the back of the seats in front of you.

This theater is gorgeous. The acoustics are very good and we could clearly see & hear the comedy acts. Love this place.

The University of Michigan, established in 1817, is a renowned public research institution located in Ann Arbor. It is celebrated for its exceptional medical and research programs as well as its iconic football team. The campus is home to several historic buildings such as the Michigan Union, Mason Hall, William Clements Library, and Burton Memorial Tower.
Established in 1817, the University of Michigan holds the distinction of being the oldest institution of higher education in the state. Renowned as one of the pioneering research universities in the United States, it is a founding member of the Association of American Universities, which was formed in 1900. I'm an alum. The education I received here 10 years ago as an engineer was less than stellar, but this institution has gone even more downhill since then. It's not a university anymore. It's a business. Capitulating to the Trump administration and getting rid of all its DEI initiatives is the final straw. They'll never get a penny from me again. They've completely forgotten that they're supposed to be champions of learning, and a beacon of free speech.
Kosta G — Google review
Overhyped school. Sometimes teaching is good, other times it's not. Overwhelming size of the school also makes it really difficult to get to know others and you will likely never get to know any of your professors. Although there are a lot of nice people here too, there are also a good number of people who are rude who will try to act as though they are better than you. Fans can be annoying at times as well. This school isn't exactly a beacon of progress either as they have recently rolled back all their DEI initiatives. Lack of windows in so many of the classrooms will also certainly leave you feeling "blue" (maybe that's what's really meant by "go blue").

The University of Michigan boasts one of the most stunning campuses in the world, offering not only breathtaking surroundings but also a vibrant, supportive community. I couldn't have asked for a better place to call home—both academically and personally. The student vibes and sense of camaraderie made the experience truly unforgettable.

Trying to get an appointment with your doctor is now even a longer process. When I call I need to be evaluated by a nurse before I can make an appointment. You are placed on hold for 3-6 minutes. I usually go to urgent care when sick because it is much easier than trying to get an appt at u of m. I need to look elsewhere for medical care. It’s really a shame because I really like my doctor, but impossible to get in. If I send medical email question, you are charged. Completely out of control. It’s not a pleasant experience.
Patricia W — Google review
Great university campus, happy students, friendly and ethnically-diverse atmosphere every time I've visited. Weighted against about ten comparable universities I've spent time around, this is in the top 3. Ann Arbor is a really nice place. :)

Nickels Arcade is a charming European-style galleria located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor. This historic shopping arcade, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features a 261-foot-long mosaic-tiled corridor housing some of the city's oldest specialty retail shops. The arcade, built in 1918 and celebrating its centennial in 2017, offers a mix of vintage and modern-day stores where visitors can browse clothing boutiques, gift shops, and even enjoy a florist.
Love it here! Such a cool spot, if you go there you have to try BonBonBon and their chocolate creations! Here you can check all the antiques and crafts, go to the barber or have your electronics fixed, need a new frame or some amazing wall art? Just go there, how about some coffee and pastries 🥐 ? They have it too… Perfect place for a slow stroll ☺️

This is another quintessentially Ann Arbor experience. A gorgeous arcade stuffed with great shops. Van Boven on the State Street end is truly one of my favourite menswear shops in the world with talented curation, exceptional quality and classic style. The arcade also features an old-fashioned tobacconist, gift shops, a barber shop and a florist. Marvellous.

The Kempf House museum offers guided tours of a refurbished 1890s residence and its accompanying garden, complete with a Steinway grand piano in the music room. The exterior is meticulously maintained, although it was closed on the day of the visit. It provides an intriguing glimpse into the lifestyle of the Kempf family and boasts a highly competent staff who possess extensive knowledge about the historical site.
This site was approved in 1973 and the historical marker was erected in 1988. The marker states: " Cast iron grilles in an ancient Greek floral motif highlight the frieze of this temple-front Greek Revival house. Built in 1853 for Henry D. Bennett, secretary and steward of the University of Michigan, it became the home and studio of local musicians Reuben H. and Pauline Widenmann Kempf in 1890. Trained in Germany, Mr. Kempf (1859-1945) taught piano and organ. Mrs. Kempf (1860-1953), a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory, taught voice. The city of Ann Arbor purchased the house in 1969, and in 1983 it became the Kempf House Center of Local History"

I saw sewing machines, typewriters, pianos, sofas and beds from more than 100 years ago, as well as many old furniture, objects and old photos. , everyone must go and see it when you have time. The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is a vibrant, 4-story space filled with over 250 interactive exhibits designed to engage children in the wonders of science. Housed in a historic firehouse in downtown Ann Arbor for over three decades, this museum has become a hub for science education. Visitors can explore exhibits like The World Around You, The Lyon Country Store, and Michigan Nature, offering immersive experiences that spark curiosity and imagination.
This is such an innovative way of having a museum. My husband and I wanted to bring the kids here for the first time. The bad news is there was an art fair and no parking only $20 parking. That did not kill our vibe. Tickets are $16 a person and under 2 is free. We purchased the tickets and we parked our stroller. The kids walked up the stairs and went into this water room. My son loved it so much. He was squealing and running around. My daughter loved played with the balls and throwing them in the water. Once we were done with this floor, we decided to go up the stairs. We were shocked to see a massive preschool room suitable for ages 4 and under. They have tons of toys for the kids. They had another water station. My kids were dry at first. However, a little boy sprayed water at my son and soaked him as his mom watched and said nothing. This didnt make our experience bad because luckily we had a change of clothes. I only say this to warn you to bring a change of clothes just in case they get wet. We didn't really go to the third floor. My husband said it was more for older kids when he went to check. The kids were having too much fun inside the playroom. We will definitely be back and hopefully not on a day where an event is taking place.
Suzy J — Google review
Great interactive museum for young and preteen children - great visuals with the exhibits and a good variety of topics. Visited on a Friday afternoon over spring break with a 5 & 7 year old. When you enter to the left is the welcome counter with a small gift shop and on the right lockers/coatracks and restrooms. 1st floor near the back is a vending machine and small eating area. Loved the musical steps, the water room on the 1st floor and displays of discovered firehouse items. Lots of activity on the 1st and 2nd floors with the 3rd floor only having a small room focused in light, and 4th floor 2 smaller spaces with a few displays. Very cool overall and would recommend.

I’ve visited the Hands-On Museum in Ann Arbor a couple of times, and each visit has been a fantastic experience! It’s the perfect spot to bring your kids for a fun-filled day of learning through play. The exhibits are interactive, educational, and designed to spark curiosity in science and technology. The environment is welcoming, clean, and family-friendly, with something new to explore around every corner. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, the Hands-On Museum offers an engaging way for children (and adults!) to learn through hands-on discovery. Highly recommend for a weekend outing or school break adventure!

We love this place. Our grandchildren have a year long pass. Definitely come here with your children or grandchildren.
Edward H — Google review
Visted here with the family during the week. Lots of learning experiences with interactive excercises. Kids loved running around trying everything out. Clean and organized for a place that children have their hands on everything. Little shop at the entrance. Vending machines with small sitting area availiable. Staff were super friendly. Will return.
Ryan M — Google review
Overall, this is a wonderful spot for families — everything was functioning well, and the hands-on exhibits came with quick, easy-to-follow instructions that even young kids could enjoy. The staff was friendly, and the entire area was clean and well-maintained. I did take one star off because we specifically came for the Gabby’s Dollhouse experience, expecting a fully decorated STEAM-themed room, but it turned out to be just a single table for making cat ears. That said, it’s still a fantastic place for families with toddlers to around age 8. Kids can explore and learn how the world works — from sound waves and electricity to gears and pulleys. It’s a fun, educational outing for the whole family.
Mz T — Google review
Great time, I would like a little more reading panels with some vocabulary words, but it was a great time for my kids 1-14. I and several other adults were also interacting with the exhibits. There are plenty of places to fiĺl water and bathrooms near all the fun stuff. Bring shoes to get wet and a snack as you'll be here a while because of how great the place is.

Friendly people. Very interactive and open to all ages. Even the adults can have fun learning about the mechanics of the world we live in. Kids probably could have spent the whole day at the water play station

The Big House, the historic 110,000-seat football stadium at the University of Michigan, hosted a free Spring scrimmage event that was enjoyable and recommendable. The game was entertaining, and some penalties and calls by referees made it even more amusing. Children were allowed to meet players, get autographs and step onto the field. The stadium is an impressive piece of real estate with a rich history that can be appreciated even by non-Michigan fans. Highly recommended for all visitors!
We were in the area and a Michigan home game was going down the day we were here so my son and I had to visit the Big House and watch the game. It is pretty unbelievable that over 107k people are watching a football game in the stadium with you. In any event seeing a game at Michigan Stadium was an awesome experience!
A R — Google review
My buddy and I headed to the Big House on August 30, 2025, for Michigan’s season opener against New Mexico, and it was a blast! The stadium was electric with over 110,000 fans rocking maize and blue, roaring from kickoff to the final whistle. We soaked in the buzz of the night game, watching freshman QB Bryce Underwood sling his first touchdown and Justice Haynes tear it up with three scores. The Wolverines dominated, 34-17, but New Mexico’s trick plays kept us on our toes. Tailgating at the golf course beforehand, swapping stories, and cheering with the crowd made it an unforgettable day at the largest stadium in the country!
Jerom S — Google review
Visited "The Big House" for the Zach Bryan concert while it was at max. capacity!! I was surprised there were no long lines for food & drinks because concession wraps around the entire stadium. Also, that goes for the bathroom facilities. It should make you feel safe there was plenty of S.W.A.T & Police everywhere from the stadium to all the intersections.
Connie — Google review
Michigan's Football Michigan Stadium aka the Big House is an impressive stadium for the 110,000 fans that can fit into the stadium. The Food/Beverage areas, Bathrooms, and other amenities are in the outside walkways that offer all the amenities for the massive crowd. Out the top three biggest stadiums in the Big 10, it's the quietest home crowd, but it's great for watching the game action!
Josh B — Google review
I mean, it's the Big House. Who doesn't love watching their favorite college team with 110k+ of your best friends. The atmosphere is amazing, the people are kind, they sell high noon (and let libations). The food choices are plentiful but it is a LARGE stadium. So be prepared to walk. Cashless venue, as are almost all of them these days. Buy a ticket, get there early, talk to people, and have a great time!

Hands down the biggest facility I have ever been to. Parking was pretty simple and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Seating was pretty easy to navigate as well as concessions. Was there for the largest ticketed music event in history ( Zac Brian with John Mayer). It was amazing.

Modern art museum
The University of Michigan Museum of Art boasts ample exhibition spaces that feature an extensive assortment of artworks representing diverse historical periods and geographical locations. The art collection is constantly rotating, with many renowned artists such as Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso included in it. Visitors can easily spend hours enjoying the displays, which are accompanied by detailed information about each piece. The museum offers free admission and remains uncrowded, allowing art enthusiasts to take their time exploring every artwork on display.
Free to enter and well worth walking around for an afternoon. Saw a few students studying, there seems to be some desks designated for laptops or groups. Although small, I enjoyed their modern/contemporary art collection the most, and the Jarod Lew exhibition.

I don’t expect university has such large collections of arts. It is free but parking is tricky since it is on the campus. It is definitely worth your time.

Fun and free! I took an afternoon to visit all the UofM museums and this one was a pleasant surprise. Pretty big building with a wide range of art to enjoy. Worth a visit if you need a fun activity for the day.

We were greeted by a warm welcome at the front desk. Signed in, and found our way to the stairs. No charge for entry makes this worth whatever you might end up paying for parking. You can avoid that all together if you attend after 6pm.

I was expecting to have to pay to enjoy the museum, but to my surprise, entry is free even for people with no affiliation to UMich, though there are options to purchase a museum membership. I think you get benefits like a few treats at the museum cafe as well as the joy of knowing you're helping to keep art publicly accessible if you choose to participate. I parked at a parking garage nearby and walked to get to the museum, and I enjoyed the collections quite a bit. Their current collection includes works by Carmen Herrera and Leon Polk Smith. Overall, the museum was clean, the staff were friendly, and the art was beautiful.

Additionally, the museum features a planetarium that offers captivating exhibits and light shows.
Outstanding!. Free Daily Entrance. There is a paid garage parking lot in the basement, and some other paid garage parking options nearby. The museum has an amazing collection of dinosaurs and fossils. There are plenty of hands-on activities for all ages. I was amazed by each exhibit.

One of the best-researched and presented museums I've been to. It's incredibly informative, and the explanations of everything are bite-sized and understandable for all ages. Every exhibit is interactive and engaging. Entry is free. The least you could do is donate a few dollars to help this esteemed research staff keep doing what they do best. Go blue!

The museum is well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear explanations and engaging presentations for visitors of all ages. The interactive sections and multimedia guides made the learning experience both fun and educational. Another great advantage is that admission is free, which makes it even more accessible to everyone. The building itself is beautiful and spacious, creating a welcoming atmosphere for exploration. loved visiting! super informative museum with so many interesting exhibits! great for any age. the museum is spread out in a large building with multiple floors (stairs and elevators available+one ramp) i loved being able to watch scientists work in real time, that was a unique feature, and i really liked that you could get the chance to talk to them as long as the light is on signaling availability. parking seemed confusing at first, but once you found the right parking garage there were signs that pointed you in the direction of the museum. my family was able to walk through this museum in about an hour and a half, but we definitely would have taken longer if we had gotten there earlier. free entry but donations accepted.

We had a nice afternoon perusing the exhibits. Free to get in was a bonus. Cool selection of dinosaur bones. Lots of taxidermy animals. Cool interactive stuff if you're bringing children.

The Kelsey Museum of Archaeology is a small attraction that showcases ancient and medieval artifacts from Babylonian, Egyptian, and Roman civilizations. The collection is intimate and transparent in its origin information, making it an excellent destination for those interested in history. Admission into the museum is by donation, so visitors can enjoy the exhibits without any financial burden.
Such a cool museum with a load of history- I’d always pass by Kelsey but one day just decided to walk in on a whim. Got so surprised how this whole time we had 1000 year old literal artifacts on display for everyone to see. The museum itself isn’t too big, but has enough for you to go through and not get overwhelmed. Seriously impressed by the collection here and would highly recommend a visit.

A beautiful presentation of archeological artifacts with links to the University of Michigan. Primarily focused on the area surrounding the Mediterranean. Donation only but you'll need to pay for public parking.

A great little museum with free admission, but accepts donations. Well worth scheduling a few hours to wander and closely examine/appreciate the workmanship of the artifacts there. Lots of pieces from Egypt, and lots of pottery and glasswork, but certainly a fun variety of other pieces in general. Anyone with experience in, or a vague idea about the processes of flintknapping, glassblowing, the firing of earthenwares, carving and turning, some gemsetting and metalwork, and just a general interest in the production of material culture will certainly find multiple things to happily examine and appreciate. The staff was friendly & helpful, and that is always a plus 👍

Nice museum with some unique pieces in its collection. If you're even bothering to read reviews for it, this is almost definitely a place you'll enjoy.

I love this museum- I didn't even know it existed until last year, thanks to the AADL summer game. You can see the whole thing in one visit because it's pretty small, but there is so MUCH to look at there, and the information signs are really interesting! My favorite room is the reproduction of the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii.

We had such a lovely time at this museum—10/10 recommend for anyone interested in ancient or Egyptian history! I love exploring art and history museums, and this hidden gem houses so many fascinating pieces I’d never seen before. Some of my favorite artifacts were “hidden” in the drawers, so be sure to open those beneath the display cases — there’s so much to discover! The collections of children’s toys and shoes were especially touching, and the cat mummy was a personal favorite. We’ll definitely be back for the new exhibit in spring 2026. An absolute hidden gem in Ann Arbor!
Ally N — Google review
I was disappointed to see so many of the artifacts displayed in cases lined with (old?) oatmeal color fabric that did nothing to create a positive or distinguishing impression of the individual pieces on display. So many displays were just “blah”. Also, the acoustics are problematic, amplifying the voices of two women throughout the entire first floor - an unwelcome distraction. Maybe some Art & Design students could take it on as a project to update the display cases and consider ways to reduce sound transmission.
Deborah W — Google review
Free admission! Please make a donation. History up close and personal! A small museum with some amazing artifacts from ancient Greece and Rome, with some terrific late Egyptian artifacts. You have to see the sarcophagus to believe it. History is a lot more colorful and vibrant than you imagine.

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market, established in 1919, has been a beloved spot for locals to find fresh produce and artisanal products for over a century. Unlike many other Michigan farmers markets that operate seasonally, this market is open year-round on Saturdays. Visitors can explore a diverse range of offerings from fresh fruits and flowers to handmade goods, prepared foods, and artisan items. The market's eclectic mix includes unique finds like alpaca wool socks and locally made soaps.
That Ann Arbor Farmers Market is one of the best in Michigan, in my opinion. There is a huge selection of vendors with many different products ranging from produce, flowers, lotions and soaps, jewelry, and much more! I've bought a ton of things from there and have always been satisfied with the price and quality. Another bonus is that it's open year around and there are always vendors - even during winter. Here is a picture of a hydrangea I bought this year from one of the stalls. It was only $15!

One of the must have done in Ann Arbor. Not only the standard farmers market on Saturday and Wednesday... but any of the other ones proposed all year long. It is such a nice place to hang out. The fact that it is covered make it enjoyable with any weather. The variety of vendors make it easy to find good produce. As a French, I am always looking for bread and patisserie. So many good choice, but white lotus won my heart.

It's a nice size and there's a lot of variety there. I will say, it's pricey, even for Ann Arbor. It's nice to have here to offer locally sourced goods. I would recommend at least walking around on a Saturday morning, even if you don't have the intention of buying something. You just might find something worth trying!

11Burton Memorial Tower

Historical landmark
Burton Memorial Tower, a striking structure on the University of Michigan campus, was designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn and completed in 1936. Standing at 212 feet tall, this iconic tower showcases Gothic Revival architecture with intricate details like pointed arches and ornate carvings. It houses a grand carillon, the world's fourth-heaviest, featuring 53 bells that weigh a total of 43 tons.
Beautiful to look at late at night, they have a schedule of songs they’ll play and you can walk in to see the bells be played!! You can take the elevator up but you’ll eventually have to walk up a flight of stairs so beware if you’re incapable of taking the steps as there is no other way to go up.
Adriana A — Google review
In the pantheon of American collegiate architecture, few buildings embody compromise as elegantly as the Burton Memorial Tower. Rising 192 feet above Ann Arbor's central campus, this Art Deco monument represents what happens when Depression-era pragmatism meets architectural ambition—and somehow produces magic. The tower's genesis reads like an architectural thriller. Originally, students envisioned honoring deceased President Marion LeRoy Burton with a soaring Gothic spire designed by Eliel Saarinen, the Finnish master whose second-place Tribune Tower design had revolutionized skyscraper aesthetics. But when the estimated $200,000 cost proved prohibitive during the Depression, Albert Kahn stepped in with a more practical vision. Kahn's solution brilliantly disguised function as monument. Rather than solid masonry, he employed a reinforced concrete shell faced with limestone—a technique borrowed from his industrial work that maximized interior space while maintaining structural integrity. The result feels simultaneously ancient and modern, its stepped Art Deco profile echoing both Mayan pyramids and Manhattan's newest towers. At 216 feet, Yale's Harkness Tower still claims bragging rights for height, but Burton's innovation lies elsewhere. Where Harkness embraces full Gothic revival fantasy, Burton Tower represents architectural honesty—its Art Deco bones reflect the machine age that created it. The limestone facade, hewn from Indiana quarries, lightens as it rises, creating an almost ethereal quality. The controversy that shadows Burton Tower centers on its tragic postscript. After University Regent Sarah Goddard Power's 1987 suicide from the eighth floor, windows were retrofitted with safety stops—a sobering reminder that architectural beauty cannot shield against human darkness. Critics argue these modifications diminish the tower's visual integrity, though supporters counter that preserving life trumps aesthetic purity. Cost comparisons reveal the tower's true extravagance. The original land purchase alone cost $44,657—roughly $1 million today. Conservative estimates place total 1936 construction costs around $300,000, equivalent to approximately $7 million now. But rebuilding Burton Tower today would easily exceed $25 million due to modern safety codes, ADA compliance, and the scarcity of skilled stoneworkers. The tower's 53-bell Baird Carillon—the world's fourth-heaviest at 43 tons—transforms this architectural monument into a living instrument. Unlike purely decorative towers, Burton serves triple duty as memorial, concert hall, and academic building, housing music classrooms and faculty offices within its Art Deco walls. Architecturally, Burton Tower occupies a unique niche. It lacks the height of true skyscrapers like Chicago's Tribune Tower (462 feet) or the Gothic grandeur of Princeton's Cleveland Tower (173 feet), yet its modest scale proves perfectly calibrated to campus life. Students can actually hear the carillon concerts from multiple vantage points—something impossible with truly tall towers. The building's greatest triumph may be its democratic accessibility. While Harkness Tower requires special tours to reach its bells, Burton opens its observation deck to the public during concerts, though visitors must climb stairs from the eighth floor. This openness reflects both Kahn's egalitarian design philosophy and the school's public mission. Perhaps most remarkably, Burton Tower has aged gracefully into iconic status despite its compromised origins. The 2017 LED lighting system, installed for the university's bicentennial, can transform the limestone facade into a canvas of colored light—a modernization that Saarinen's more precious design might never have accommodated. In our era of starchitect spectacles and billion-dollar campus buildings, this ower offers a different model: architecture born from constraint that achieves grandeur through ingenuity rather than excess. It stands as proof that sometimes the building you get isn't the building you planned—but it might just be what's deserved.

The Burton Memorial Tower is a clock tower located on Central Campus at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, housing a grand carillon. The tower was built in 1936 as a memorial for University President Marion Leroy Burton (presidency: 1920–1925). This carillon is the world's fourth-heaviest, containing 53 bells and weighing a total of 43 tons and standing 58,2 m. On April 8, 2017, in celebration of the university's bicentennial, the tower was illuminated in maize and blue, the university's colors. The carillon and spire can also be lit in other colors by the LED illumination system installed for the bicentennial.

The Law Quadrangle on the campus of The University of Michigan is a stunning area enclosed by magnificent neo-Gothic structures, complemented by green lawns and paved pathways. Visitors are recommended to explore the south side's law library while maintaining silence to avoid disturbing others. This picturesque location resembles Oxford and is a must-see place in Ann Arbor.
Objectively the best, most relaxing place on campus. May squirrels roam around here. Grass is comfy. Benches all around. Very quiet and peaceful (unless the feats nearby play music). Always recommend coming by for a walk, study spot, or just to sit down at.

The University of Michigan Law Quad is an absolute gem right in the heart of Ann Arbor! 🌿✨ Walking through the stunning Gothic-style architecture feels like stepping onto the set of an old European movie — the stone buildings, intricate carvings, and beautiful archways make it a photographer’s dream. The central courtyard is peaceful and perfect for relaxing, reading, or just soaking in the serene vibe. Whether you’re a student, visitor, or simply exploring campus, this is one of the most picturesque spots at U-M. In fall, the colorful foliage makes it magical, and in spring, the green lawns come alive with people enjoying the sunshine. Don’t miss the chance to peek inside the Law Library — it’s straight out of Harry Potter! A must-visit if you’re in Ann Arbor, whether for a quick stroll, quiet reflection, or to admire some of the most iconic architecture on campus.

Briarwood Mall is a traditional shopping center that features popular clothing brands, beauty products, and home goods. Despite the rise of online retailers, the mall remains an attractive destination with a diverse selection of small and large stores for shopping or window browsing. In addition to shopping, visitors can also enjoy various food options such as restaurants and coffee shops. The mall maintains high standards of cleanliness including regular restroom cleaning. While some stores have closed down recently, new ones are appearing that seem promising.
This mall is well-kept and is appropriately renovated. Public restrooms are nice and well-ventilated. Some stores have endured, while others have changed. There are multiple dining options from quick bites to coffee to sit-down restaurants. Plenty of free parking with designated handicap parking.

A mix of the usual mall stores that you would expect and mom and pop stores I hadn't heard of before. I was quite surprised to see an Apple store and Coach here, the Apple store is smaller than normal but was full of people. A little disappointing that there's really no food court, but there are some nicer restaurants along the outside edge of the mall such as P.F. Changs and California Pizza Kitchen. The mall is a single floor and easy to navigate. There were a few empty storefronts on my visit and 1 anchor store vacant.

I went to order a cookie cake at Mrs. Fields for my granddaughter for her birthday. I ordered a large one. Explained to the first lady what I wanted on the front and then I went back to pick it up and the decorations were very small and could hardly read the writing on it. I was dissapointed with that and writing that was on there "London" was there and she said she could take off the ones that were on there and make the writing bigger so you could read it So I went back in about a half hour and she did a wonderful job of making the writing so you could read what I wanted it to say. So thank you so much for redoing it over and I was very pleased with her decorating work and what she had done to make it look a lot better!! She did a wonderful job and I could actually read it!!t

I’ve only visited Briarwood Mall once in my life, but the experience left a lasting impression. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff across various stores. We found great deals and purchased several items, but what made it truly memorable was how much my children enjoyed the play center in the heart of the mall. It gave them a chance to laugh and unwind while we took a break from shopping. It’s rare to find a mall that offers such a family-friendly vibe. We’ll cherish those memories for years to come!

Moved to Michigan from Illinois. Malls do not exist anymore in Chicago and the surrounding areas. So, it's incredibly awesome to be around a thriving mall. Nearly every storefront is open and the mall is very clean. I especially enjoy that the mall opens early to allow people to utilize it for walking in colder months. The only thing missing is a food court. Though, you can find Chipotle, P.F Changs, Panda Express and California pizza kitchen on the premises, as well as a handful of tea and sweets stands. I'm happy to have a thriving mall around. I hope it doesn't go the way of most malls and slowly die. 10/10 would recommend

Library telling the story of President Gerald Ford through seldom-seen documents & photographs.
I'm currently on a journey in visiting all the presidential libraries across the country. This brought me to Gerald Ford Presidential library in Ann Arbor, MI.
Frank C — Google review
Not too much to see. But it is worth a stop for a bit of American history from the mid seventies. I was interested because I was born just as Nixon was getting into trouble with Watergate, Ford was an Eagle Scout, and the only accidental president. Nothing is shown about Ford’s connection to the Boy Scouts, it’s mostly comics and a few items and letters from his time as president. I was immediately reminded of the fact that presidents are always repeating themselves no matter who is in the office. Same mistakes, different parties, different people.
Tenacious D — Google review
I've been touring Presidential Libraries across the United States for some time. This one definitely qualifies as the smallest Presidential Library I've visited to date! Being raised to acknowledge that good things come in small packages, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library deserves this designation. Although this library is small, if you're in Ann Arbor, take some time out of your day to enjoy this delightful little treat! The experience lasts between 30 minutes to an hour and offers valuable knowledge. You can explore an exhibit of presidential cartoons, watch a documentary, and see a replica of the Ford's office. Even though this library is small, if you're in Ann Arbor, take some time out of your day to enjoy this delightful tiny treat!
Alexander V — Google review
Coming from a massive and humbling Ford Museum in Grand Rapids, this little nugget of presidential history left much to be desired. It seemed mostly like a patchwork of disconnected information, with a tiny, easy-to-overlook corner that sums up the life of President Ford. Granted, what I've discovered in visiting these kinds of places is that presidential museums tend to be more friendly and inviting, more comprehensive, while presidential libraries tend to be stuffy and partial. It felt better, for me, to leave Ford's library and grab a cup of driphouse coffee across the street from Michigan stadium, where he once played center/linebacker.
Jeremy L — Google review
This is primarily a Presidential Library for study. This has only a small museum. If you've been to other Presidential Libraries this may disappoint. That said...it's still cool to see and it's free.

Roadrunner — Google review
Visiting the Gerald R Ford Presidential library was on the top of our list when we arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The museum is conveniently located adjacent to downtown and some of the large hotels, so you can easily stay and walk to the museum and other downtown locations. We arrived shortly after opening and were able to get our tickets and start exploring the museum. The flow of the museum is in chronological order of his life starting with his youth, growing up in Grand Rapids. There is quite a lot of information on his time in the Boy Scouts of America and how important this was in establishing his values and leadership abilities. There is a great section about his involvement in football at both high school and college and then his years serving in the military. We then start learning about his down-to-earth, approachable style of leadership while growing in politics locally at the state level and then in congress. The information about his time as Vice President and how he became President as a result of Watergate and Nixon resigning was interesting and informative. It was interesting to learn more about some of the policies that Ford enacted and how he worked to build trust back into the office of the President. I was not familiar with how many tough decisions he had to make that were not necessarily the popular decision, but that provided a stronger foundation for our country's future. The mock-up of the oval office and cabinet room are always favorites in the Presidential Libraries and these were well done. I found the exhibit about his passing and the funeral very touching. It would have been very interesting to see what Ford could have done if he were not working under the shadow of the Nixon resignation. I left feeling that he was a good leader and a strong President. I am glad we visited the museum.
Steven Y — Google review
This is a library not a museum, although it has some small exhibits. Unlike every other President, Ford split his museum and library apart by 150 miles. For a completionist like me this is very annoying! Staff were helpful. Clean facilities. Beautiful courtyard but there's really not a lot here and unless you're looking to do all the libraries and museums I wouldn't bother coming here, unless you're looking to do research which they have huge resources for, I believe! Parking is free.

What a fun experience!! I love Kerrytown more than downtown! We went to the farmer’s market and walked inside the shops and loved seeing everything! Parking can be found behind the farmer’s market. There is a lot where you can pay by spaces (about $2 per an hour, very affordable). There are bathrooms inside on the top floor and tables and chairs scattered throughout where you can eat lunch that can be purchased downstairs or at the farmer’s market. We bought Pad Thai for $7 from Baan Phad Thai in the farmer’s market and it was delicious!! We also found two amazing houseplants, Roos Rois Coffee, and fresh Apple Cider! Will definitely come back because this farmer’s market and shops are fun to walk through and have unique items!

Sleepy little area without a lot to do or see. A stopped in a few stores which were nice but there really wasn’t much here. There’s a coffee shop with a nice courtyard to sit in and a few restaurants nearby. I did see a chocolate shop and a Korean restaurant which looked interesting but it was early morning so I didn’t stop in. There was construction close by which interrupted walking around the street nearby. Nice area but just enough to do for an hour or so.

They certainly have cute stuff, but it’s a bit smaller than I would’ve thought it to be. By all means, it’s a nice farmers market… but I’ve seen others that are more elaborate. The shops have a very boutique feel, which I love, but they’re expensive. Fun to look around, not as fun to spend money. Take a look and see for yourself!

Cute shops and a great place to walk and browse. We visited the farmers market twice on a Wednesday, but it's pretty small and there isn't much of anything that we'd really get. There are a few shops inside - we checked out the gift stores and the toy store, but noticed everything was priced even higher than what we've seen in other local stores. Still a nice place to check out and walk around.

My partner and I have been regularly visiting St. Thomas the Apostle Church in preparation for our upcoming marriage and to find a new parish home. We have our own church back in Detroit but have been attending Mass here since January. The sermons from Fr. Gerald are wonderful, and we are particularly drawn to the Latin Mass community at this church.
I have attended this church for mass, Bible studies, speaker events, and special events. They also have a school that is attached. Their goal is to make sure any family who wants their child to attend can. This church is beautifully traditional offering high mass, regular mass, and a contemporary mass on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm. The clergy are amazing. I have since moved from the area but make sure I attend here every time I’m in the area.

Wonderful parish! Everything from the architecture, choir, traditional mass, and Fr. Bill. Also love how many young families come each week! There is a real warm, vibrant community at St Thomas! I love all the events they offer such as concerts, young adults groups, Bible studies and christkindle market near Christmas. It truly is a warm special church!

Please provide better training for your volunteers. Their condescending attitude and lack of social skills made vulnerable person's experiences deeply negative. Nowhere in the Bible it says to act better than and give the boot to the poor.

Such a tranquil place. I happened to pass by this Church on the way to other places. But I'm so glad I visited it. The atmosphere is very calming and there seems to be a long history behind it (according to the photos I found next to it's entrance). I wonder why this Church decided to color its inner dome white when it was already painted decades ago. The Church seems to planning for a new beautification project. So, in the future the dome might be painted again.

Ive been a parishioner since 2015. I love St Thomas. The church is beautiful. They have weekly sung Latin Mass (11:30 am). The priests are wonderful. The schola choir is very good. And last but not least the latin mass community here is so great.

It is an iconic destination in Ann Arbor, particularly renowned alongside the University of Michigan Football Stadium. Attending an event at this large college football stadium or its neighboring arena should be on every visitor's must-see list in Ann Arbor.
Not a bad seat in the house and entry was very easy. Make sure to read rules before you head in for what can and can't go in.

My experience has always been great. This time it was an inconvenience that I had to check in my diaper bag. Traveling with a child and not having the items needed was rough. Yes I could have went back to my bag. But again that's the inconvenience matter. Overall I love attending games here. The website said diaper bags were allowed.

First time attending a Michigan basketball game and I can't wait to go again! So much fun!! Easy parking down the street at Pioneer High School and relatively cheap compared to football games ($25). The Crisler Center is a beautiful, newly renovated area which is clean, safe, and very family friendly. The staff is very helpful and always readily available. The area is the perfect size, no bad seats in the house. The chairs are comfortable with padded seats and cup holders. Very fun and energetic environment!! GO BLUE!!!

It was our first time visiting the arena for a basketball game. Go Green Go White 🏀 It was a really nice facility to watch a basketball game. The only problem was the line entering the building. The game started at 8 p.m. so the doors didn't open until 7 p.m. We got in line at 7:10 and didn't reach scanners until 7:28. It was below freezing at the time. Once we got inside, it was nice and warm. It also helped that Sparty won.

Rackham Auditorium is a stunning venue exuding old-fashioned charm and excellence throughout. The spacious seating, adorned with wide velvet chairs, perfectly complements the opulent gold detailing on the ceiling and the marble featured in the bathrooms. Ushers are incredibly gracious and accommodating, ensuring smooth entry for large groups. Stepping inside from inclement weather reveals a warm and cozy atmosphere with a color scheme that radiates warmth reminiscent of coppery bronze tones.
This Auditorium seats around 1000, and is a beautiful, art deco space from the 1920s. Great arc of seating focused on a relatively small stage. I love it for small musical ensemble, string Quartet, or guest speaker.

Hospital
The University of Michigan Hospital, although unusual to mention a hospital while traveling in Michigan, is crucial for addressing serious medical needs. It is important to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances. The hospital efficiently coordinated care and provided excellent resources for patients' transition back home after a seven-day inpatient stay. The dedicated CNAs and nurses displayed exceptional skills and deserve recognition for their outstanding care. Notably, Mavis and Ube stood out with their remarkable assistance, positive attitudes, and wound care expertise.
Leaders and Best: The University of Michigan has the best hospital in the state and one of the best in the nation. When your case is super serious, they fly you here. It’s harder to park and it can take longer to get a bed but this is where you go to get the bottom of issue. It’s like a giant airport: overwhelming in size (and the parking can be scary) but you can get to more Places and answers from here.

After my son sat at Hurley Hospital in Flint for 18 hours without seeing a doctor, we requested a transfer to U of M Ann Arbor. UM accepted the transfer request and he was taken by ambulance. He was in the ER less than 10 minutes and was taken back to be treated. Within 1.5 hours he was seen by the surgical team and treated. I cannot say enough about the entire UM staff from check in to check out and everyone in between. There is a reason UM is one best hospitals in the country, and now I see why. Thank you very much for taking such incredible care of my son.
Jeffrey S — Google review
Utterly inept. I've been disabled and visiting doctors regularly for 3 years. My experience at this hospital was nothing short of mind-boggling, dehumanizing. I was diagnosed with things like fibromyalgia without ANY proper examination. I actually suffer from malocclusion that requires surgical intervention, and the doctors who can help me have been so cryptic and non-scientific. I can't say enough about how traumatizing my time there has been, and continues to be, as my body completely breaks down. I can't imagine how they can claim to be one of the top rated hospitals in the US, unless by "top rated" they mean they only take the easiest cases (it's a for profit gig after all). When I think about the things some of these doctors said to me it makes my blood boil. I don't have much of a choice, though, since I now rely on Medicaid and can't drive long distances. I wish I had other options. This health system has absolutely done more harm to me than good. I even had a surgeon use the Hippocratic oath as a justification for DENYING me medically necessary treatment. And it goes on....
Mon L — Google review
I have been to this ER and hospital with loved ones more times than I’d care to admit. Wait times can be long, but there is no other hospital I would recommend higher, and I have been to the majority of them. We are always treated with respect and kindness, and receive top notch care every time. The entire team is nothing short of wonderful. I honestly question anything less than a 5 star rating.
Bettie S — Google review
I have been a patient at U of M Hospital’s GI department for over 2 years and have seen no relief or progress. Every time I go, I’m referred to another department, which means waiting months just to end up back at square one. I waited 5 months for pelvic physical therapy at U of M and saw no improvement. After that, I was referred for pelvic Botox. I waited months again for the appointment, only to receive a call one week before telling me it was scheduled incorrectly. Now I have to wait another 7 months for the correct appointment. The constant delays, mismanagement, and lack of continuity in my care have been extremely discouraging. Instead of helping me manage a serious medical issue, I feel like my time has been wasted at every step. Patients deserve better organization and accountability from a hospital of this reputation.
McKenzie O — Google review
The doctors and nurses here have hurt me and my newborn children I'm still emotionally traumatized I've tried putting my story on here but Google won't let me they need to be accountable for what they've done to me and two of my children. I am permanently damaged and I could have lost 2 of my kids because of them they've also neglected me during an emergency when I've desperately needed air and they waited until my insides were on fire and I was seeing Stars before giving me oxygen they almost cooked my newborn baby alive after I told many doctors and nurses I think the incubators too hot and then a nurse finally came and apologized to me for the neglect, with my first child he should have been an emergency C-section they tore me completely open I am permanently damaged down there and I'm still having issues and by the time they pulled my son out he was completely purple if he was in there any longer he would not have made it, they've damaged me and almost killed two of my kids , I knew something wasn't right when they were trying to get me and the father of my third child to leave something told me that if I left I would have came back and she would have definitely been cooked alive and wouldn't have made it in their care I wish I could put all the details of my story on here, but they are awful they've traumatized me and they've hurt and mistreated me in my babies let's speak up let's hold them accountable they don't have the right to hurt us or our children especially when we come to them trusting them with our lives. Mothers speak up protect yourself in your newborns listen to your gut listen to your intuition and if you are having a severe asthma attack in your on the brink of passing out you're better off traveling somewhere else because they will let you black out before they give you oxygen because they feel it's necessary to ask your birthday several hundred times and your address several hundred times even when you start screaming for help in oxygen they ignore you and walk away and it takes a lot when you're low on air to yell for help someone help is in front of your face and they're not doing anything
Lotus W — Google review
I'm only giving three because my nurses and physical therapy people were so wonderful. I had to have surgery 9 years ago because i had precancerous polyps in my large intestine so my surgeon Dr Byrne made me a j pouch to act as a colon to hold my stool and i was using an ostomy for 3 months. He did a crappy job with my stoma now years later thinking it would be a better outcome now that the ostomy is permanent. My stoma still isn't right, is more towards the top instead of more in the middle. When they closed me up they got the muscle of my buttox i also needed a transfusion which almost put me into shock. Now I've been home a week and my stitches have opened and I'm afraid to go back but living in Flint the hospitals are not what they should be. I don't like Dr Byrne and i think he needs to retire. He's the only reason i had a bad experience. Plus he didn't tell us things until i read my summary from his notes during surgery.

This has been an awful experience! Go to Michigan they really help everyone says… until they don’t. From the time in the ER where the triage took 3 hours to being put in the hallway all night. To bring admitted to a hallway and staying in the hallway with open beds to them pushing me out the door after telling my daughter that she has a ticking tome bomb in her head! No options just it will be discussed and we will tell you how this will be treated!

Nestled in the heart of Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Intramural Sports Building is a fantastic hub for University of Michigan students seeking an active lifestyle. Just a quick 4-minute stroll from campus, this facility boasts six-bedroom units and offers top-notch fitness amenities. With its pristine gym environment and well-maintained basketball courts, it’s no wonder that many flock here to stay fit.
Renovation is beautiful. Staff are always very nice. If you're looking for some good pickup basketball competition on campus, this is the place. Four beautiful basketball courts make it so you'll never have to wait long to get in some action. Training room is also very nice with everything you need for a good workout. I would definitely recommend going here to keep in shape. I lived in Alice Lloyd on the hill but still found my way to the IM building quite often.

Overall solid gym. The problem is it’s short on space. The staff do their best to fit equipment in the most efficient way possible but they’re fighting a losing battle. Lots of the equipment is outdated and “under repair”. It’s a great place for pickup basketball and other IM sports but compared to newer collegiate gyms it leaves a lot to be desired.

The Intramural Sports Building is a really nice facility with top of the line equipment and great fitness classes. The gym is very clean and everyone is respectful. The basketball courts are in great condition. The summer is generally the best time to use the facility because most of the students are away. The start of each semester brings a massive surge of people and makes it difficult to get in a decent workout without battling for equipment - even the fitness classes get overcrowded.

The Michigan Union, situated on South State Street, is a vital center of student life at the University of Michigan. Following an extensive renovation costing over $80 million, the building seamlessly blends historical elements with modern amenities. It offers a food court, study areas, and diverse meeting spaces. The preserved historical features such as colored friezes and stained glass add to its charm. The newly weather-proofed atrium area and restored information desk enhance the overall experience for students.
A great spot for anything and everything student related on U Mich campus. Classic exterior facade featuring the statues of a scholar and an athlete on each side of the front entrance of the building, as well as the bronze plaque of JFK on the front wall.

Opened after a $80-odd million renovation and had kept various heritage pieces (like the colored friezes and the stains glass, and the billiards-room lamp shades) while staying true to the design philosophy. Much improved and the placement of the information desk back at its original location is so much better. The old open-air atrium area is now weather proof with the glass canopy. More offices for the student orgs on the 3rd and 4th floors, different shops in the basement area and now, there's elevator access to the mezzanine floors.

The church offers breakfast to the community every day, served by friendly volunteers. Additionally, it hosts organ recitals that are described as beautiful by visitors.
Coming from a former evangelical hocus pocus fundy, thank you guys for feeding me breakfast many times since this past summer and thanks in general to the Episcopals for your educational services and acceptance of the gays. I don't feel any lest lost in my life rly but just go ahead and send my thanks to shepherd Paul et. all and St. Andrew himself or wtfe. If I had a ton of money I'd drop a duffel bag of it here cause it rly has meant a lot. The William Anderson House is a small Greek Revival home that was built by William Anderson, the son of pioneer John Anderson, on farmland purchased in 1831. William Anderson, who served as the first Washtenaw County sheriff, had a public feud with Probate Judge Robert S. Wilson, who constructed a larger Greek Revival house on Division Street. This historic house still stands today and offers insight into the early history of Pittsfield Township.

The Detroit Observatory, the second oldest structure on the University of Michigan Campus, was constructed in the mid-1800s as a significant investment in pioneering scientific research at this emerging American higher education institution. Recently completed in 2022, the addition and classroom expansion have transformed it into a versatile space suitable for various events and classes. The original telescope equipment and infrastructure offer valuable insights into the innovative tools that propelled astronomy into a predictive domain.
Very historic place. This is one of the oldest telescopes in North America. There's a free tour every Friday evening where you get to see celestial objects through the telescope. Staff/Volunteers are very friendly. If you are near Ann Arbor this is a must visit place if you are interested in history or astronomy

This place was so cool! It has really historical telescopes that are not just historical for the university, or even Michigan, but the United States. Absolutely a must visit!!! :) They do viewings on Friday nights (except in August for vacay) but yeah! Go check it out!

What an incredible hidden gem in Ann Arbor! It tour guide/docent obviously knew lots of details about the history, as well as knowledge on how the telescopes worked.

The Detroit Observatory is the second oldest building on the University of Michigan Campus. Built in the mid 19th century it was a big early investment in world class science research at the new U.S. higher education institution. The newly completed (2022) classroom and addition makes the space suitable for all sorts of events and classes. The original telescope hardware and infrastructure provide excellent insights to the tools that brought astronomy into a predictive field. Critical to the early history of the University of Michigan this is a great way to get a sense of the institution’s early history.

Wonderful experience. Beautiful building even from the outside but a real treat to be inside such a historic building, with very knowledgeable and friendly guides. Clear skies meant a viewing through the 17ft Fitz Refractor.

It's a truly magnificent collection! Touring the facility, learning, and viewing the moon through the Victorian telescope is a very enriching experience.
Mikki S — Google review
Just opened after years of renovations and the addition of a new annexe. Tours are going to start soon, but until then there's the Open night on Fridays. The students there are passionate and very knowledgeable and you get a fine sense of the history and use of the Observatory at the university. Scheduled time slots are assigned at entry for a look through the Fitz Telescope and depending on the various planetary and starry alignments in the season and ofcourse dependent on the light pollution from the nearby hospitals and residences, you can get to see the moon or other objects. Great for kids.

went for their mid autumn festival event and it was such a great time! All the staff was so nice and it was so cool to see the moon through their observatory telescope, I definitely will come again!
