Sushi restaurant
Totoro is a cozy Japanese restaurant located on South State Street, offering a wide range of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes. The menu includes specialties such as tempura, udon, and creative sushi rolls like the Totoro Tower, which features layers of spicy salmon, avocado, and tobiko on a bed of rice with flavorful sauces. The ambiance is warm and inviting with exceptional service. Visitors can enjoy authentic Japanese delicacies in a comfortable setting.
Cute little sushi restaurant with an open area where you can watch the sushi being prepared. Everything I’ve tried from here has been fresh and delicious. Great pricing for a sushi place in Ann Arbor also.
Chelsea M — Google review
Truly delicious and authentic Japanese dishes. Plenty of vegetarian options. Ingredients were fresh and all prices were reasonable. In the middle of a college town, so expect mostly young people there. The place is tucked into the split bottom floor of the building which makes it more for casual dining than formal. Will go back.
Samer J — Google review
The cutest little (actually big inside) restaurant, which has taken their name and theme very seriously.. It is Totoro all the way and yummy food! The takoyaki was amazing :)
Priyanka J — Google review
As a Ghibli fan and having grown up having watched Totoro (and owning a fair bit of Ghibli merch), it is a no brainer to head to a Totoro-themed restaurant as the name of this restaurant suggest. Service is great and what better way to eat when surrounded by Totoros. Portion is generous, and the dining experience is wonderful - I wish I could come here again some day!
Bryce T — Google review
I visited Totoro very shortly after their opening in the morning and was immediately struck by the beautiful atmosphere! Totoro is proud of it's Ghibli inspiration, with the walls lined with My Neighbor Totoro memoribillia. It was peaceful and had soft music playing over their speakers. The bentos and rice bowl options were diverse, well priced, and good serving sizes but the sushi menu I felt was a little lacking. Especially with the themeing of the location I expected some themed dishes. Service was a little slower than some other spots in the area but like I mentioned they had just opened so I can excuse that. They were still doing prep work when I came in so I saw them bringing out raw fish, etc and their ingredients are very fresh!
Miichii _ — Google review
Great place for Japanese Cuisine in Ann Arbor. Was looking out for vegetarian rolls in maps and across Totoro. Plenty of vegetarian options. But not only that, they have diverse options some of which I have seen nowhere. Our waitress was super respectful about our dietary restrictions, recommended the plates by herself, warned if something like veg but was not and made sure that they are followed. Something that I have rarely experienced at Japanese restaurants. Loved the place and overall experience.
Antriksh M — Google review
Lovely sushi restaurant. The pricing is alright, but it’s very yummy! Portion sizes are comparable to other sushi/Japanese restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor. I’d recommend trying it out if you like sushi. The staff was very kind. It’s a bit crowded for seating, especially if the room is full, but other than that no complaints!

Miki Japanese Restaurant, located on the western edge of downtown Ann Arbor, offers a wide variety of sushi and Japanese dishes, as well as select Korean options and local beers. The restaurant boasts a well-decorated interior that complements its Japanese theme. While some visitors have had mixed experiences with the service, many praise the friendly servers who provide attentive care.
The most creative Japanese style cuisine. The food is great. The restrooms are very clean. The owner is friendly and came to our table to discuss our choices. He shared with us how some items were created and good sake to pair. We ordered the Chef's Surprise for lunch. When we took another person back for dinner a week later we wanted that again but it was a lunch special. We ordered something, don't remember the name but it translates into: "I trust you" and really you have no idea what you're going to get so it is comparable to Chef's Surprise. Still incredibly delicious. The Chef's Surprise was $19 for lunch and the "I Trust You" was $35. It was available for higher dollar amounts and we were told the more expensive included more premium cuts and items. Took pics of the appetizers and entrees. Prepare for a deluge.
Melodie J — Google review
I tried this place for the first time and I was not very happy with how we were welcomed. The person that seated us was not welcoming at all as if he was forced to be there. That’s the first impression of the place and it was not a very good one. The server however was very nice. She was kind and kept checking up on us and brought everything we’ve asked for. The food was good overall, not over the top. I’ve tried other sushi places and I’d say this one is just average. The tempura shrimp and veggies were really good and the sushi was okay too. Kimchi was not good at all, it had a weird taste. I would generally recommend if you’re going for sushi as it’s light and the fish is pretty fresh.
Zahraa D — Google review
The food was amazing. The only thing keeping me from giving this place five stars is the fact that I had takeout and did not eat inside the establishment. I would recommend this place if you are looking for sushi in Ann arbor or just need a nice place to sit down and have a meal.
Will R — Google review
Miki is a great Japanese restaurant. You can park right outside (street parking or parking lot) and enjoy a variety of sushi as well as other Japanese dishes. I never had anything that wasn't good. Keep up the good work, Miki.
Steph A — Google review
Good spot for a quick Japanese in Ann Arbour. Our server, Quinn, was amazing. He was so attentive and prompt. We had the shrimp tempura with vegetables which was very nice. Yellow tail ponzu was not the best. The salad and miso starters were very good. The chicken in the bento 🍱 box was very dry. The beef noodles was good. Chicken yakitori was ok.
R. I — Google review
Overall, this was a good restaurant! Lots of sushi options. The ramen was good, but didn't really pack a lot of flavor. We added Chilli oil to it to help.
Prasanth G — Google review
Beautiful Japanese style decor. Enjoyed our included miss soup and salad. The seaweed salad was the tastiest I've had. The sushi rolls were beautiful prepared . I recommend the Eskimo! ( my appologies..the food was so inviting I started eating b4 the pic)
Lauren M — Google review
Very nice presentation, generous portion, and a wide variety of food options (you don’t usually find uni or aburi sushi in Ann Arbor). The rolls are a bit too creamy for me but I could taste the different layers of flavors and textures. Will definitely come back

Slurping Turtle is an industrial-chic Japanese restaurant located in Ann Arbor, offering a unique twist on traditional Japanese cuisine. The restaurant features long communal tables and stylish wood furnishings, creating an intimate and trendy atmosphere. Their menu includes a wide variety of dishes such as ramen, sashimi, maki rolls, pork belly bao, and more. Guests can also enjoy a selection of beverages including beer, cocktails, wine, and sake to complement their meal.
I've been here a few times with my family now, and I always get their duck fat fried chicken Ramen. It is really rich and filling. My family this time got 2 speciality rolls, which my dad says was the best sushi he's ever had. Personally, I think there are places just as good in Ann Arbor for cheaper. Otherwise, the place is clean and in a good location downtown, staff were nice and gave us recommendations, and the service is pretty good for how busy it usually is.
Zoie T — Google review
Slurping Turtle in Ann Arbor has a nice vibe with good interior and friendly service, but our experience with the limited vegan options left us a bit underwhelmed. We tried the vegetarian ramen, which was decent but didn’t quite live up to the hype compared to other ramen spots we’ve been to. The fried rice was okay—nothing to write home about. Now, the weirdest part? They actually charged us for a tiny spoonful of sauce. Yep, a spoon of sauce! That’s a first for me and felt a bit like a prank. On top of that, the wait was pretty long, and honestly, it didn’t feel worth the time. If you’re not vegan and want to explore their full menu, it might be worth a shot, but for vegans or vegetarians, the options are limited and not particularly memorable. Would I go back? Probably not for the vegan dishes, but the place does have a nice atmosphere and good service if you’re in the mood for something else.
Rohit P — Google review
We recently visited this restaurant and tried We tried the duck fat fried chicken ramen along with the dancing shrimp rolls, and both dishes were outstanding. The red curry ramen is another must-try, packed with rich flavor. Our server, Kathy, was fantastic—she provided thoughtful recommendations and was attentive the entire time. To finish, we had the red bean cream puff, which was light, flavorful, and absolutely delightful.
Varaprasad K — Google review
Such a unique establishment with a friendly staff, unique set-up, and delicious food that is one of a kind. The bite of the Salmon belly and the octopus fritters were on a whole different level. We will definitely be back soon to try the other dishes!

Slurping Turtle is some of the best ramen and probably the only ramen place you should go to in Ann Arbor the Duck fat fried chicken is very good and also the Bao buns are also good. Highly Recommend

@Sep.2025 Visited with two at lunch time on a holiday. I ordered a classic ramen and California roll. Ramen taste was very simple but it was good. The portion was a bit small. California roll was the same, small but tastes good.

The food was decent but the tea appears to come it what i believe is a plastic tea bag. Microplastics galore. I don't recommend ordering the hot tea. Im shocked any places still use these plastic tea bags. Hopefully the owner sees this comment and switches the brand of tea they use.

Found this gem while visiting U of M for a college visit. Perfect spot for our family with some picky eaters. We loved everything we ordered including the chirashi bowl, tofu vegetable plate, gyuniku don along with all the rolls and pieces of sushi. The servers and staff were amazing and attentive and catered to our needs. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. And the food was so delicious that we will be returning for sure!

This was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. The waitress was knowledgeable about every special and menu item and so nice and attentive. Got special rolls and will definitely order less next time because I didn’t realize how huge these would be! For the price and amazing taste, these are the biggest and fullest rolls ever! Super quick service too.

Went to Yotsuba Japanese Restaurant with my girlfriend after a Michigan football game and it was excellent! We had several dishes and each was fresh and delicious. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years and it always is consistently good. Many thanks to the great people working at Yotsuba and we'll be back soon!

I had terrible food poisoning from the sushi. The salmon was all different cuts and textures. The pieces were enormous which made me believe that they knew the fish was already turning. The staff was polite but I will certainly never return
Lindsey — Google review
Great food and amazing service!! The staff at Yotsuba always welcome you in and say goodbye and are so sweet. They have otoro (fatty tuna), my partner hasn't had that in 3 years since we lived in WA state and they were so excited to have it. There is a large variety of options on the menu, we tried their sushi rolls and were very pleased with the effort and quality put into the rolls. Their fish and veggies are extremely fresh!

A happy accident led us to your restaurant. I looked and said, "2222 must be double luck!" Thank you for the amazing food and service after we were not able to find a single parking spot to eat on campus!

Great atmosphere! I popped in for some takeout, very welcoming, friendly staff. Takoyaki and curry pork katsu were amazing! I’ve had a difficult time finding both in the area, so I’m definitely coming back for more!
Ray Z — Google review
Everything that we ordered was extremely fresh, the sushi beautifully presented as well. The menu is diverse, so those not especially fond of the raw, can enjoy some good land lubber fare from a variety of Asian cuisines. We were so impressed we got carry-out a few days later. From here on in, this will be my go-to for Sushi in Ann Arbor. I almost forgot to mention that the service was also prompt, as we had limited time.

The restaurant provides options for dining in, takeout, and catering for large events. Visitors praise the relaxed vibe and exceptional customer service.
Rarely do I dish out 5 stars across the board like this. But wow. What an excellent find!!! Went here for my wife’s birthday & they were very accommodating of our party of 12! (Even though we only told them 10 on accident). It’s just good sushi. It gets the job done. Very affordable sushi. And everything we got was good. The sweet potato roll was to die for. I’m for sure going back.

Sadako is a great sushi spot in Ann Arbor. The fish was super fresh, and you could really taste the quality. The owner was so friendly and made a bunch of great suggestions. We especially loved the salmon roll, and the dragon roll was amazing. Chill vibe, great service, definitely recommend checking it out!
Gerson B — Google review
I visited last week for a quick bite before the concert and I still have mixed feelings about my experience. Amazing food, huge portions. When you order, however, there are no pictures of sushi items so you can imagine the size. Me, dining in A2 first time in the last couple of years, kept wondering are the prices high because it's A2 or portions are big 🤔 unfortunately we didn't ask the waitress and we got lots of food to eat and take with us to an event 😁 We also were in a rush to attend the concert and asked the waitress how long for the food after we ordered and received our appetizer and she just said 15 Minutes at least and offered to bring boxes. I mean I know I'm not a queen of the world and don't need special treatment cuz I might be late to an event, but offering to ask chef if he can prepare our order sooner would have been nice. I worked as a waitress before and it certainly possible in some cases to make an accommodation.
Nina T — Google review
It took about 15 minutes to get our order taken, but my God this is some of the best Japanese food I've ever tasted. The sushi is incredible, the shrimp is superb, and the deep fried veggies are absolutely delicious. I'll happily return next time I go to Ann Arbor!

Sadako is an absolute gem! The sushi was not only delicious but also prepared beautifully. The service was top-notch—quick yet not rushed. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, recommending some outstanding dishes and engaging in pleasant conversations. The restaurant's cleanliness and tasteful decor added to the fantastic experience. I give it a solid 10/10 recommendation and can't wait to visit again!

Nestled in a modest dining space adorned with warm wood accents, Umi Sushi is a hidden gem that offers an exciting blend of Japanese and Korean cuisine. While it may take some effort to find this delightful eatery, the culinary rewards are well worth the search. The menu features inventive dishes like Korean military stew made with Spam, showcasing their creative flair. Diners can also enjoy a variety of sushi options that match in quality and price.
I stopped in at Umi Sushi while in Ann Arbor and was really impressed with the food! The spicy poke with tuna was fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of heat—definitely one of the best I’ve had in a while. I also tried the takoyaki, which came out hot and perfectly cooked, with a nice crispy outside and tender inside. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared, and the presentation was great too. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back!!!!

Stopped in for takeout while I was in town for a business meeting. I was greeted when I first walked in and when I asked to look at a menu to place a to go order the gentleman pointed at a menu and walked off. I decided on the shrimp lovers combo and approached the register. The gentleman walked past me 4 times without acknowledging me at all. Finally a young lady came out of the kitchen and took my order. The sushi was prepared quickly. Everything tasted fresh. Unfortunately what I thought I ordered was 3 rolls and what I got were two small rolls and 2 pieces of nigiri. My order was $20, and I felt like I got about $10 worth of food. They also serve hibachi and rice dishes, maybe the portions are better on those dishes.
Brea ( — Google review
Don’t take the 3 stars as bad. I liked the food. I feel it’s targeted for a wider audience & less for those who grew up eating this food at home, it’s an adaptation. I spent a lot of time in Japan and Korea (and even married a Korean woman) so my perspective is biased. The menu has a wide selection and the taste remind me of fast food you’d find in Korea & Japan, albeit healthier. I loved the choice selection. Given the larger Asian population in Ann Arbor I thought the taste would have been geared differently. As I mentioned I enjoyed the food. It’s considerably better than anything you’d find in a shopping mall’s food court and however less than you’d find in the streets of Tokyo or Seoul.

We came here last week and had a great experience! I was a little worried about publicly dining, but it was clean and put my mind to ease. We did not sit close to anyone and they blocked off tables to ensure there was a distance between guests. The sushi was decent and was priced equivalently. Some rolls were fine and others were great! The sashimi was basic and the maki rolls were smaller than usual, but they're $4 so again, priced accordingly! Our server was sweet and helpful. Their drinks were good and presentation was pretty! Good local spot for some quick sushi!

This is a great place to meet up with friends or date night. A bit pricey, but isn't everything nowadays . The Takoyaki aka Octopus balls were amazing. We always wanted to try this dish. The bulgogi Box lunch was a good buy. Don Katsu was my husband's favorite.

Delicious Korean food. Both dishes that my daughter and I had were fabulous. They were huge and portions. Flavors of both dishes were amazing. We brought our extras to others in. They absolutely loved them as well.

We went in and the lady was super nice, she had us sit down (there are many tables with four chairs), and gave us complimentary miso soup for our orders. We had the lunch special and Soom Tofu, the beef was a bit overcooked and the pork a bit stale. The sushi was good and so was the dumpling and tempura. There was a service fee in case u wanted to add a tip.
Loreen L — Google review
Walking in, the atmosphere was comfortable but the dining area was outdated and a bit dusty. I ordered the Curry Chicken Katsu for $18. A lot of rice and sauce, but not much chicken. The veggies were very soft to the point of mushy, and the curry was just okay. I might come back to try the sushi, but I will not have my hopes up.

I went here for dinner with some friends and we had a great experience! There's plenty of seating inside and the staff is super helpful. In addition, the portion sizes are very generous and they have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. I got the Thai red curry with crispy tofu and it was amazing. I'll definitely be back!

How do you know if a restaurant is good? Its never empty and the take-out table is always busy. This little gem is sitting at a northern parnlt of Ann Arbor, in a quiet shopping area, so there is plenty of parking. Since we discovered it we frequent the place, always finding something new from the menu to add to our own personal favorite. Quality sushi, giant-size ramen and generous Bento boxes - this place is really good - so you might have to be a little more patient for you meal as the staff is quite small, but ever so friendly. The place has both cosy nooks and large tables, so it can accommodate both low-key dates and bustling groups.
Ehud A — Google review
Imagine a Thai green curry with chicken without the chicken. That is what I got when I ordered Thai green curry with chicken. I needed to use the restroom first thing when I got there so I asked the "host" where that was and he motioned toward it and after I was done I returned to the front desk area to be seated and it was funny how he acted. It was as if he didn't know what I was there for. Strangely enough, he seated me back toward the bathrooms at a table for four when there were all kinds of two tops available by the windows. you would think he would want to seat people in the windows so that outsiders could tell that it was a lively restaurant. He basically abandoned me. There was one server and she was busy with another table of three ladies. She never looked up once to acknowledge me. After about 10 minutes, I finally caught his eye and he came over and took my order. I ordered Thai green curry with chicken. It was about a 15 minute wait to receive the food. I will say the broth was delicious, not too spicy. But I had difficulty finding any chicken in the dish. I counted six tiny pieces of chicken among the red and green bell pepper, the eggplant, and what was I believe a radish of some sort - bit like a water chestnut in the crunch department. After flagging down the woman she brought my check. I gave them an 18% tip and the total came to about $22. On my way out I told them that the dish could use more chicken for $20 and they laughed and smiled like I was giving them a compliment. I'm not sure if the gentleman is the manager or owner but he really needs to get on his game because that restaurant is going to go under. I know it's been around for eight years, but there was barely anybody in there when I was. The fact that I ordered a chicken curry and got a sprinkling of chicken in it was so absurd it was almost comical. In other words, this restaurant is a joke. Unless they fix it, and I will be back just to see if they've improved at all, they are going to close.

Really good Asian food!! Would definitely recommend trying the sushi- its great! Portion sizes are medium size, I’d say pricing is on the more expensive side. However, the service and food is good so it’s alright. Would recommend stopping by!

We had the Red Curry Ramen yesterday, and it was absolutely delicious! The soup was full of flavor with the perfect thickness. The noodles were nice and firm, and the chicken was juicy. We even added extra noodles because we loved it so much. (we forgot to take pictures) When we were leaving, the owner/staff kindly let us know that the tip was already included and even gave the tip back to us—that was such a thoughtful gesture. We really love this restaurant. The Red Curry Ramen is the best in town! Their California Roll is also very good, and the prices are excellent. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys tasty Asian food. Five stars—we definitely recommend this restaurant!

Food? Delicious. Service? Waiter was patient, kind, and very welcoming, also really helpful. Restaurant? Quiet, only one other person. Have kids? Come here, they give kids cute plastic cups so you don’t have to worry about them breaking a glass one. Would I come back? Wish I could, but I’m only in Michigan for vacation. Salmon rolls were amazing, pretty sure they came in about 5 minutes or so. So cute, they put them in a flower shape.

I’ve tried 5 or 6 sushi places in Ann Arbor, and this one is the best sushi. The roll selection isn’t crazy, but the sushi always tastes the most fresh in the area. They also give you a decent amount of fish even in the regular rolls. Been coming here for years and everyone I’ve brought to it has enjoyed the sushi. The lunch specials are also a great deal.
Agustin G — Google review
Michigan roll is very good. Tried other baked sushi on the menu from past vista and they didn’t disappoint. Best sushi in town! Will go back for more

No frills place with nice flavors. First time having a sushi burrito and it was very good. Service was great and food was fresh. Not very many places to sit.
John S — Google review
Drove into Ann Arbor from out of town and happened upon this place on Google. We gave it a shot and the food was great, the server was very nice, and it was just overall a great addition to our day! I really missed the mango rolls I would get in Florida and these were actually better. What an awesome surprise!

My husband & I dropped in for dinner after a quick Christmas shopping trip at Briarwood Mall. The place is small, but clean and we were able to get a table right away. The staff was friendly and the service was good. We started out with an order of pork gyoza, which came out quickly. They were hot and crispy, but a little underwhelming. For dinner, we were intrigued by the "sushi burritos" on the menu. We love sushi and poke bowls, but have never tried anything like that. When we asked what the difference was, our server said they are the same, but the burritos are larger. The Fireball Burrito was actually a dollar cheaper than the Fireball Sushi Roll, so I gave it a try. It was tasty, but I think I'd go with the sushi roll next time as it just didn't feel like sushi eating it like that. I think I prefer the bite-size pieces and the crunch lost its crunch when mixed in like it was. My husband tried the Dragon Burrito and he enjoyed it, but felt eating it burrito-style was definitely messier! Overall, we felt like the food was good and the prices were reasonable. This is a casual and quick place to go for some fairly priced sushi (and sushi-like) dishes.

Awesome little spot with very tasty food. The service was very attentive and the staff was also nice and welcoming. The food arrived MAYBE 2 minutes after ordering. The place also looked clean and there weren’t any funky odors. The Philadelphia roll, salmon lover poke bowl and seaweed salad I ordered were all delicious. Definitely worth it if you’re looking for some quick quality sushi.

Mama Satto is a casual dining spot in downtown Ann Arbor that offers a mix of Japanese and Korean cuisine. The restaurant's menu features a variety of Japanese staples such as ramen, udon soups, sushi rolls, and other traditional dishes. Customers appreciate the extensive menu selection, reasonable prices, and friendly service. While the restaurant can get crowded during peak hours, the relaxed atmosphere makes it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy authentic Japanese and Korean meals.
Happy we stumbled across this gem. We came for lunch on a slow Tuesday. We were kindly greeted at the door and sat promptly. The order was quick and we received really flavorful miso upon arrival. The sushi roll preparation wasn’t my favorite, but the scallops inside were good. Both my ramen and gfs udon were really good. Flavorful and good spice levels. The seafood was slightly tough in my ramen, but the beef in the udon was fantastic. Overall a really pleasant experience and a nice spot in Ann Arbor.
Kavan L — Google review
The owner was a kind Korean lady and the kitchen was mostly Latino. Their food tastes decent but was definitely unauthentic and a bit overpriced. Katsu curry was the best in town, with a thick pork cutlet, but came with a price of $18. Sushi was Americanized and ok-ish. They provided complimentary miso soups, but those were premade and supermarket-quality. The lights were weirdly blue-purple and felt unsettling.

Been here many a time and it never gets old. Great sushi, great service. It can get pretty busy at nights and it’s a small space so it’s hard to hear sometimes. Love the specialty rolls and the variety
Hank P — Google review
The ramen was excellent. Excellent broth, with an impressive assortment of shellfish. It's got some spiciness to it, which builds with every mouthful. The service was very slow on a Saturday afternoon when they weren't very busy. It took 30 minutes from ordering to getting the food.

This is my daughter's favorite restaurant, and every time we are in Ann Arbor, we always visit it as well. The food is amazing! The portions are huge. No pressure to leave and free up the space for others - always friendly, always relaxing atmosphere. It is a small place but oh my gosh, it is absolutely delicious and pleasant.
Olga L — Google review
Decent food and nice staff, with a campus restaurant feel. Overall, the food is pretty good, although the sashimi I had was a little all over the board. I was also less than impressed with the Mama Satto Ramen, but the bao was tasty. The prices seem a bit high for the quality of food, and even though I knew about the 18% automatic gratuity ahead of time, I was still put off by it. I would much rather see higher prices on the menu than have an extra charge hidden on the check (labeled "surcharge"), with a prompt below for a tip, and no indication that the tip was already priced in. Just seems a bit shady to me, and although I'm not a fan of the tipping system in America, I don't think this is an improvement. In general, I think there are much better places in town for both sushi and ramen, and I would much rather support those places.
Matthew R — Google review
Genuinely it doesn’t get better for Ramen in Ann Arbor. They have quite a few options for types of soups (Ramen, Udon, Soba, Etc) and every one I have tried is incredible. Their sushi is also quite good and the bao buns are perfect to share. The atmosphere is relaxed though it can get a bit loud during the Friday/Saturday dinner rush. I’ve gone once a month since I discovered it and have never been disappointed! They do include an 18% tip on the bill, but it makes sense for a college town and makes it so you don’t have to worry about tipping!

We regularly order from this location and have had zero issues until last Friday. Ordered to go and my partner noticed in the first piece of burrito a long, black hair that was stuck in the rice. We called the location to let them know and told them we had pictures. We were told to send an email with the pictures and they would take care of it. Almost a week later and we have heard nothing from them, which prompted this negative review. Be aware and check your food for hair!

The best experience I've had at any restaurant in downtown A2. The food was amazing, our server was great and attentive, and the general atmosphere of the place was super chill but also a modern twist on casual dining! I've been to a lot of sushi/poke places and this was hands-down the best

Probably my favorite sushi restaurant in Ann Arbor. I've come here with family, friends, on dates, and by myself and have never been disappointed. They have a ton of good vegetarian options! Super cute atmosphere also, and it's not usually too too crowded. Really good quality for the price!! If you get two sushi rolls you get salad or soup for free and the salad is to die for.

One of the best sushi places in the Ann Arbor area!! I tried it for the first time last week and it did not disappoint. Staff are very professional and the food is super fresh and goood! We got the avocado shrimp & cucumber roll, fireball Roll, and Scotland roll. They all tasted amazing but my fav was the fireball. I highly recommend it if you like spicy. Overall I would definitely go back again!

This was our first time ordering from Kanbu. The ordering process was easy. The price was reasonable. The rolls were tasty. We had one tempura shrimp roll that was cut too thin and kept falling apart when we picked it up. We will be back.

Easily the best sushi restaurant I’ve been to yet. Friendly staff, clean dining area and bathroom, reasonable prices and wait time, and just great sushi! Would definitely recommend coming if you like sushi or other Asian cuisine.

Godaiko Restaurant is a delightful spot for those craving authentic Japanese cuisine in a relaxed and spacious setting. This contemporary eatery offers an impressive array of dishes, including sushi, ramen, yakisoba, sashimi, and tempura. While the prices may be on the higher side, patrons are rewarded with generous portions that often allow for leftovers. The quality of both service and ingredients shines through in every dish served.
What an excellent value for seriously good sushi in a generous quantity. My shrimp tempura roll was excellent and tasted delicious! My friend ordered a duck udon soup, it came in a pretty large quantity and she quite enjoyed it as well! My wife also had multiple vegetarian sushi options, which was refreshing. Overall, I would recommend coming to this place rather than anywhere for sushi in downtown Ann Arbor.

Everything about this restaurant was solid. The food was good, and portions were really generous and reasonably priced. The menu had a lot of choices, with plenty of vegetarian options. The spicy edamame was the standout. We also enjoyed the curry broth in the Vegetable Curry Udon and the Curry Rice, however, the udon curry arrived, inexplicably, about 10 minutes after the rest of the groups' entrees, and the udon was really overcooked. Most of the meals also come with a small salad and miso soup, both of which were really good. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely go back.
Martha — Google review
I came in for the buy-one-get-one-free sushi deal, but the quality and taste were disappointing compared to other sushi places. The service was just okay—the waitress kept passing by without checking if we needed anything, and when we tried to get any of the server’s attention, two girls quickly rushed back to the kitchen. Overall, the food was mediocre and the service wasn’t great. I won’t be returning.

Fun place! This has happy hour specials ALL Day! They also have daily specials. I had the Spicy Sushi with my Sapporo. Some friends ordered the Kobe Burger, which looked great. Will definitely be back to the the other menu. 😊

I’m now working 3 jobs just to make ends meet. Splurged and spent my last money on the Spicy Kobe Beef dish via UberEats. The dish is called spicy but they made it so hot, it’s completely inedible.. even drowned it in the yum yum/white sauce & still no bueno. (And I LOVE spicy food!!!) I want to love it but now… I’m just hungry and chugging water. UGH!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Authentic, quiet atmosphere. Fresh sushi, in large portions, and speedy service. We tried the Fusion Salmon roll, which was our favorite, although some pieces were 2 - 3 bites. We also ordered 1 Hot Spicy Californian roll that was about 24 smaller bite pieces, more than enough for two. We enjoyed Perfectly Steamed Edemame alongside. Highly recommend.

Server was very kind and accommodating. Lobster was dry which means overcooked. The filet mignon was good. The rice was hard and salty and visibly too oily. the sauces were tasty. The house salad was good and so was the miso. The sushi rice was hard and chewy like the one at meijers a little to heavy for my liking. Birthday 🎂 dessert soooo delicious!!! 🤤 sparklers very cool.

We couldn't sit with our Large party of 20 due to a leak from the ceiling. But, that allowed us to meet Mr. Kyon who was the most amazing host. He did everything for the two of us- Extremely accommodating & knowledgeable about the menu. My son with the party informed of Seafood/ Fish allergies yet, his food- Chicken was brought out with Salmon ; Also Brought out Fried rice when he requested white rice. Waitress was IRRITATED.; But, his Chicken was made in the back & Fried rice - (Not white rice) accompanied his Chicken. He kept his food & just gave it away- He didn't feel comfortable sending it back. The Lead waitress ; was extremely rude & another guest who never received his food but was charged & had to bring it to her attention which again irritated her. All the other staff was helpful & friendly. I thought the food would be better then the other popular Hibachi places, but disappointing; lacking flavor, Smaller portion sizes & still costly. Presentation of the food & my drink were lovely.

What a great lunch my husband and I had today! We were welcomed at the table by Fabian who is fabulous 👌🏽. He had many of suggestions for us to try from a new menu and he was very polite. Fabian was always there to refill your drinks and made sure your service was good. Our experience did not stop there because our cook Randy was everything you would want from a hibachi chef! From tricks to making sure your meal was prepared just like you asked for. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STOP SCROLLING. GO ASK FOR GREGORY. Seriously, what a lunch. The food was straight-up phenomenal—I mean, we're talking next-level, lick-the-plate delicious from start to finish. But the real MVP was our server, Gregory. He was the best! Super upbeat, immediately friendly, and just had this awesome, relaxed vibe that made lunchtime feel like a party. Not only that, but the dude is ridiculously knowledgeable. He walked us through the entire menu and gave us perfect recommendations. He was so attentive without being annoying, you know? Our glasses were never empty, and he just knew what we needed before we even looked up. He's a total legend and a massive credit to the restaurant. We'll be asking for him every single time.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely PHENOMENAL Service and Food! Our dining experience was exceptional, primarily thanks to our incredible server, Gregory. While the food was phenomenal—truly outstanding from appetizers to dessert—Gregory elevated the entire evening. From the moment he arrived at our table, he was wonderfully upbeat and genuinely friendly, making us feel instantly at home. What impressed us most was how incredibly knowledgeable he was; he guided us through the menu with ease, offered perfect recommendations, and described the dishes and wine pairings in detail. Gregory was also the definition of attentive. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, ensuring our drinks were topped up and the courses arrived perfectly timed, all without ever feeling intrusive. He is professional and a huge asset to this restaurant. We'll be requesting Gregory every time we return!

Stopped here for lunch while visiting the university. My daughter had poached eggs and fruit, my wife had pumpkin nut bread bread french toast and I had one of the best gyros ever! I've been reflecting for the past month, trying to fight the urge to write this review, but I am all about honesty and truthful reviews. I've always held aMa Bistro in the highest ranks, I love their menu and I used to love the customer service. I had a not so pleasant visit about a month ago and I haven't returned since. Service started off normally but my waitress wouldn't make eye contact with me at all. I tried to look past it and then when I received my bill, she dropped the clipboard that the receipt is attached to on the table, not even looking at me, and just walking away. The experience just continued to get worse and I just got overall very bad vibes from the waitress. I was respectful the whole service and I understand that everyone has those days when they're not feeling it, but I felt unappreciated, especially being that I was a regular here. She seemed very kind with everyone else but in a way, ignored me. Again, the food was great but the service left a horrible taste in my mouth. Don't see myself walking back in here.

Good food. The AC doesn't work unfortunately; it's hot and slightly sweltering inside. Servers are very friendly. Their drip coffee is very good and not acidic. Their dishes are good; a little pricey. They make the hashbrowns in house. We ordered the egg khima and the egg Benedict.

You need all of your party present to put your name down which is quite annoying but I understand. The food was so good and cheaper than expected. They have a qr code menu which is nice. They didn't split our bill or ask if it needed to be split which was a little hassle between our group. Love the decor and the staff was very friendly!

Nice location and ambiance but slow service and poor food quality. QR code online menu hides prices. Very good experience. Food was very good and better than we were expecting. We had the caterpillar sushi roll (8 pieces & $12), the Bulgogi ($19) and the Spicy Tonkotsu ($15). The tonkotsu was huge and the other portions were good too. Portions are very good for the price. Staff was friendly and food came quickly. Went on a Monday afternoon and they were empty. Easy parking and good bathroom.

I’ve been to a number of Korean bbq places and this is unfortunately at the bottom of the list. A lot of restaurants have increased their prices but it was still worth it. This one had first, a small serving and second, the meat tastes OLD. It tastes like it has been sitting in the freezer for over a year and we were the first customers to order it. The meat was barely cooking even though we adjusted the fire from med to high. There was just no fat, even the sauce couldn’t hide the foul taste 🤢🥩 It looked like I was cooking those kids play food that they play with. The staff, though, were very pleasant. We were seated right away and she would check up on us from time to time. I normally get a couple of the fish cakes banchan but it was hard and just like the meat, tasted old. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED since I have been looking to trying new Korean bbq places. I have nothing to say about the rolls or the other Japanese food but as for the bbq, it is a 2/10. Got a score because of great customer service. The hot tea was good and there was only a little meat in the soup.
Tricia M — Google review
Worst restaurant in Ann Arbor. The chicken tastes off… it tastes gamely… and a weird taste. They can’t even figure out how to light up the fire for Budae-jjigae. They don’t know how to change it. And they even switched it with an empty one. Heaven knows how they organize the items they’re gonna to discard. They can’t tell the new ones from the used ones.
Xinyue F — Google review
It was a pleasant experience dining here. I particularly liked the cleanliness of their place along with the service. I ordered bibimbap, which was very nice, served with three separate types of kimchi. One can mix the gochujang sauce as much as you'd like. We ordered multiple sushi dishes. All of them were exceptionally good. Their Udon is awesome probably better than the ramen. I'm still a bit conservative about the sashimi. Overall I am pretty satisfied.
Sagnik B — Google review
The worst "spicy" tonkatsu ramen I've ever had. Bland broth, tough pork, sad egg, noodles tasted like they just got dumped from a ready-to-eat package. Had one roll of sushi and that was fine. Service was attentive and friendly. Building/decor was kind of run down. Only a couple other people inside - I should have taken the hint.
August D — Google review
Oh my goodness, you MUST eat here! The food is so delicious and the service is great. We have never dined at a Korean restaurant before and it was a great experience. I can't tell you the names of the dishes we had, but they were very good. We also ordered sushi which came out quickly and was also very tasty. Their ramen was rich and wonderful and yum and I'm running out of adjectives to describe how good their food is. Mark Nagomi down on the "just go and enjoy" list.
Michael S — Google review
I ordered takeout, 2 shrimp tempura rolls and vegetable tempura appetizer, from Nagomi on a weekday. My order was ready in about 15 minutes. The food was fresh and flavorful. I really liked the vegetable tempura and was surprised that broccoli was included in addition to the typical onion, potato, and carrot. The veggies or at least the broccoli were so soft and I think they are perhaps precooked prior to frying. I recommend the tempura appetizer for people to share as there was enough to share with another person. The shrimp tempura roll was just as I expected. Nagomi is a new place that I will be adding to my list of places to pick up lunch while working in Ann Arbor. I want to try other dishes as there are a lot of yummy options. The restaurant has ample seating to accommodate multiple small groups and large groups.

I have drove past this place probably a thousand times or more and never did I think to stop in and try it but today my friend and I decided to give them a try it turned to be a great choice! Friendly service which is important for me and the food was fresh very tasty Wasabi aioli and their ponzu sauce was really good as well I'm not very familiar with foods like this so it was interesting to learn about this place and the variety of choices. Would highly recommend you come try them out extremely satisfied with our purchase we will definitely be coming back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.75 rounded to 4 stars) – Excellent Health-Conscious Options, But Some Room for Improvement I recently visited Pork Fish and left with a mix of impressions—some excellent, others less so. On the positive side, the Rainbow Bowl was an absolute standout. It’s not only beautifully presented but also hits the mark on both freshness and healthiness. If you're looking for a clean, satisfying meal with vibrant ingredients, I highly recommend trying it. That said, the Pork Ramen with beef broth didn’t meet my expectations. The flavors felt muted and lacked the depth I usually associate with good ramen. Of course, taste is subjective, and others might enjoy it more depending on their palate. Pros: A warm and professional greeting upon both entering and exiting the restaurant—always appreciated. Staff clearly work hard and handle service with care and energy. The presentation of dishes, including the bowls and serving ware, adds a nice touch. I really appreciated the electronic ordering system with clear photos—it makes decision-making easy and efficient. Cons: The ambiance is fine for a casual experience, but nothing particularly memorable. Personally, I find disposable chopsticks and plastic utensils take away from the overall dining experience, especially given the quality of the food. Overall, Pork Fish offers some solid menu items and a smooth ordering experience. With a few tweaks—particularly in utensil quality and consistency across dishes—it has the potential to become a go-to spot. I’m glad I tried it, and I’d definitely return for the Rainbow Bowl again. 🌐 For more honest and in-depth reviews like this one, visit SquareZones — where we highlight standout experiences in food, services, and more.

The number one place in Ann Arbor to get Poke & I’m a very critical Japanese with experience tasting good fresh sushi in Japan. They have really delicious poke bowls with very fresh & flavorful ingredients. I recommend this place to anyone who likes eating healthy & yummy poke 👍
Marina S — Google review
Great place for a quick eat. The poke bowls are fresh and have healthy ingredients. It’s an economical way to enjoy a quick hibachi style meal as well when I’m in the mood for it. The workers are always friendly. It’s nice to dine in and eat out of an actual bowl, but it’s always a good option to order takeout too. They’re pretty efficient and it never takes long to get your order. The seating area is not very large but and it’s a bit noisy if you dine in, but it’s nice they have the option.
Crista T — Google review
They are always so polite! I’m never waiting more than 5 minutes for my food to be ready. Love the cleanliness and urgency to clean after guests. I value the welcome and good-byes that accompany every visit. Very well ran business with very good prices.

The sushi is very good here. Spicy and fresh. I order it here frequently. I would eat it everyday if I could. The teriyaki beef and chicken bowls are okay, a little dry, but taste very good. Avoid their rice, if possible. Good flavors but either overcooked or dry. The restaurant is a little rundown, their handwritten seemingly ripped by teeth signs on the front are a bit off-putting. Pickup is best for this reason, and they are always fast. Be careful when ordering soup or anything with liquid to go, mine always spill in my takeout bags.

We LOVED this place. We got takeout from them regularly and were so excited to find it. Tonight we ordered a dish that we've gotten quite a few time before, a favorite of my partner's and he knows very well what it should taste like. He took one bite into it and made a face- the fish tasted bitter and "off". Obviously with raw fish, that's not a thing you want to gamble on when it's not tasting right. We tossed it immediately and called to ask for a refund for the affected dish and the staff straight up scolded me, insisting everything was fresh (I'm not saying it wasn't? Sometimes weird stuff happens with fish) and that they'd remake it if we brought it back, but we were already at home 25 minutes away and not about to dig it out of the trash and drive all the way back. They kept saying "if you don't like it"... my dude, it's not about not liking it. He LOVES this dish normally. He was yelling stuff like "If you owned a restaurant and a customer didn't like a dish what would YOU do?" Uh... comp the meal? Even if they just "didn't like it" (because that's part of good service) but *especially* if there was a danger that something was spoiled. The fact that they're unconcerned and unwilling to consider that something might be off - even in a fish that was "cut fresh this morning" - is a huge red flag. Sadly we won't be back and we'll have to find a new poke joint. They ultimately refused to refund us so I'll have to talk to my CC company on monday. (Also fun fact, the dish in question is $9 more expensive on doordash than in store for some reason. Which is the whole reason we bothered schlepping in to get it in person.)

I went for the first time and wont be back. I went and ordered my food. My debit visa card is old so it doesn't have tap to pay or a chip, it has to be swiped. The lady walked away from me trying to pay so I walked out and went to JJs crab house and spent my money on delicious food.

This charming eatery prides itself on using top-notch ingredients while keeping prices affordable, making it an ideal spot for sushi lovers on a budget. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ensuring every visit feels special.
Sushi town has great takeout sushi. Their online ordering system was nice because it let us customize the rolls. Their specialty rolls were delicious, their fish is fresh, and their prices are good too!

I used to work near sushi town and I would eat there everyday,I got to know the family over the 5 years I’ve known them, I’ve loved them and they treated me the best any restaurant has ever had,I’ve eaten every single thing on there menu (made it a challenge) from the dragon Elle to the Alaskan and Oklahoma and i will always hold this restaurant as my favorite love out to them and this is a must if you love sushi and a great family restaurant that’s built on love and care :)

I heard that sushi town had the best sushi in Ann Arbor and the staff were super friendly. I ordered dinner on a Friday and it was ready quickly. It was some of the best sushi I've ever had. The staff ARE super friendly. I can't wait to come back. I should have ordered more. 💗

If you want great sushi in Ann Arbor, this is the place to go. It is a true hidden gem. While it might not look like much, it’s the place to go. The staff are all really friendly and the food is usually done fairly quick. If you want carry out, make sure you order ahead. The miso soup and house salad are awesome too.

An absolute gem of Ann Arbor! Despite their small space, I could hardly say they're inconspicuous, looking at the number of great reviews they've had. The food is consistently great, but I don't think that's what makes them special. The staff cares so much about each dish and customer, I can't help but to feel connected. Small details, like the presentation of the food, the friendly phone calls, and the cute smiley faces on the containers. Immediately after placing my order, I got a call notifying me that the order would take a little longer because of the busy schedule. Thank you for making tonight's dinner special!

Great place. The cuts of sashimi were thick and really tasty; practically melts in your mouth. Staff was very friendly too. Definitely recommend.

Best sushi in Ann Arbor. They use good quality fresh fish, and the difference is obvious. They do some fancy stuff too, but for my money, the yardstick of any restaurant is its ability to get the basics right. This place delivers: their simple rolls are a wonderful combination of flavors borne of good ingredients, skillfully assembled. I eat here all the time and haven’t ever been disappointed.

Plate Sushi & Chicken is a trendy, industrial-chic eatery that beautifully marries Japanese cuisine with American flavors. Founded by Jane Kim, a former owner of the beloved Totoro Japanese Restaurant, this spot offers an array of delicious options including fresh sushi rolls like the Eel Avocado & Cucumber Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. Their Tonkatsu Bento is particularly popular for lunch, featuring delightful tempura alongside expertly crafted California rolls made with a unique Krab salad blend.
This place is so good, the chicken in their name is well deserved. The texture and flavor are amazing! We got the honey butter and garlic soy flavors. All of their food is so fresh and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

Definitely some excellent sushi. Probably top 3 for Ann Arbor. Kinda a weird location if you don’t leave nearby, but not a problem if you’re just planning on eating. It’s a great date spot, and they had some good coconut shrimp. Maybe a tad more expensive than some other places, but not terrible. Taste buds enjoyed their time here.
David P — Google review
Cool spot for sushi in Ann Arbor! They do not serve alcohol! Very intimidate cafeteria type set up inside, staff is super friendly and quick. Street parking was plentiful with tons of nearby shops to check out. We got a few rolls for the table- salmon on the beach, U of M and Tokoyo roll plus the chicken wings with soy garlic/honey butter. Sushi was a hit- loved the flavors and was able to see the sushi chefs at work. 10/10. Pictures on the menu so it was easy to pick out what we liked. The chicken was flavorful and very crunchy. Would definitely order again! We also had the house barley tea which tasted heavy like oats as well as the miso soup which was the best miso soup of my life. Definitely stop in!

I don’t know where to start because I love this place so much. I recommend Plate more than going out for sushi downtown. They have a great chill vibe, the staff are welcoming, and the food is always very fresh. They have something extra special that makes the place just so comfortable. The food is super good and menu has a lot of variety.

Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. From the service to the variety to the atmosphere, my experience was nothing shy of great! Our waitress was so attentive and extremely friendly. I recommend coming here if you like sushi!

Excellent Japanese and Korean food. They have sushi AND the best Korean friend chicken in Ann Arbor! They also have EXCELLENT bingsu (Korean shaved iced). Jane Kim is the amazing owner of both Plate and Orange Market (an Asian market across the street).
Evan — Google review
Ordered Donkatsu bento. Each food item in this combo is mediocre I would say, but it's a huge variety, lol. Tempura batter needs to be more crispy. Donkatsu a bit too dry. Rice texture can be improved. Edamame fine. Watermelon great. Takoyaki mushy. Sumai(?) plain flavor. Good value though.
Yifeng T — Google review
Food was delicious!!! It's rare to see a place that does Japanese food AND Korean food well. We got a few appetizers (agedashi tofu and avocado bomb), the tonkatsu bento box and 10 piece Korean fried chicken (soy garlic and honey butter). The fried chicken was so crispy and flavorful and I loved the bento box presentation!

Poke Poke - Sushi Unrolled in Ann Arbor is known for its delicious and fresh poke bowls. The restaurant emphasizes the importance of incorporating fresh, nutrient-dense foods into one's diet while still satisfying taste buds. Customers have praised the quality of the bowls, with particular appreciation for options like the Tuna lover bowl with its flavorful spicy tuna and mayo.
Ordered for takeout today and Francis and Liana are an unmatched crew! Vibes from both of them are so welcoming and definitely brightened up my day - service that’s really hard to find nowadays cause the world is going to 💩 Thank you for the amazing service and for uplifting my mood! Will be back 🙏

Decided to give this poke place a try after walking by looking for a quick lunch spot. Food tasted off and didn't taste fresh at all. Rice was clumpy and dry, salmon tasted mushy. Disgusting. Would not pay $20 for a small bowl with additional upcharge ingredients. The person working also looked miserable and was dry and rude when we were placing the order. Service matched the food... Would not come back or recommend.
J L — Google review
any seaweed salad or avocado is a $2 up charge. the half of an avocado we got was not fresh, had dark bits, and did not taste good. paying $2 just to get a gray avocado half was not awesome. the mango cubes were so hard, had no flavor, and very obviously not fresh either. the service was nice!
Ashley — Google review
The salmon and tuna are both terrible, feels like they started to decompose… the texture is just very off… not to mention the taste. Totoro or slurping turtles serve fish with much higher quality! Like other reviews, little portion, pricey, and rude service…
Chloé — Google review
The manager, Liana, was very nice, helpful, and efficient when making bowls for my friend and me. It was nice that she helped my friend get set up with the rewards, so she could gain points and redeem them later. We'll be back for sure!
Isabella — Google review
Insanely RUDE service....(as of APR 22 2025) There is a particular person I regularly see here that seems miserable EVERYTIME. I am not exactly sure what her dealio is but she makes it clear that she hates her job. She yells and shouts at me like I am serving her. She teases and taunts and makes it uncomfortable with the customers. Then proceeds to make the incorrect order putting in terayaki sauce into my food when I never mentioned it. I am a tolerable guy but this is the 3rd strike and this needs to be reported. I shouldn't feel uncomfortable entering a restaurant and question wether i should get food because of the server. Unacceptable.
Faizan D — Google review
I ordered two poke bowls, and seaweed salad for over $70, and one bowl was missing the two scoops of protein. It was an expensive bowl of avocado over rice. I would not trust Door Dash or delivery from this restaurant. My bowl (spicy tuna crunch) was tasty, but the tuna was skimpy.

Food: 3 Staff: 4 Environment: 4 Not the best or good poke but it is what it is for Ann Arbor standards and options. The name of the establishment is… inaccurate but I’ll just leave it at that. Staff were nice though and there’s lots of indoor seating with free self-service water!

DKY Sushi is a fantastic spot to indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine, including sushi. The quality of the food is exceptional, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. The prompt and efficient service ensures minimal waiting time for patrons. Recent upgrades to the dining chairs enhance the overall experience. Freshness and flavor are key highlights of this establishment, with standout dishes like seafood soup and sushi/sashimi combos leaving a lasting impression.
Impromptu quick stop on date night. Excellent Service. The food hits the spot and the food is made right away. Picture is after we started eating.

Very good sushi. We got a Tuna Roll and a Golden Salmon Roll. Soup Entrees came out steaming hot, I got the Beef Ramen and the girlfriend got the Seafood Udon Soup. Both very delicious. Place was exceptionally quiet and peaceful on a Saturday afternoon. Waitress was nice and did a good job serving us. Highly recommended 👌

This is THE sushi spot in A2! They've been here for quite a long time and I'm so glad I finally gave them a chance!!! Friendly staff, quick service and a great selection of food! We started with crab Rangoon and they were the best I've had in my life. Crispy, creamy perfection. Next up was the spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls...they did not disappoint. Absolutely fresh and a perfect texture. Dancing eel roll arrived at the table and was just a total treat. It covered all the bases...a little spicy, tangy, sweet, a little crunch, umami...highly recommended! Pork fried rice was an absolute treat. The flavor was unique, like it came off the perfect cook top and better than any fried rice you've ever tasted. Definitely check this spot out. Cannot wait for our next visit! Wish I'd have gone sooner.

Simple setting with a large variety of specialty rolls. Very nice presentation. Fresh tasty sushi. This is a great place to go for a casual dinner with the family.

While no restaurant is truly a 5.0…I gave this restaurant a 5.0 because with its 4.4 rating, it definitely needs to be averaged in to be 4.4+. Limited strip mall seating, large takeout business. Husband and wife run, they do a very solid job at very reasonable prices, work hard and are very friendly. I had tasty gyoza, hot crispy combo tempura appetizer, generous and reasonably priced nigiri, and a special roll. Great service. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I’ll be back for sure.

The food was very fresh. Very good. The prices are affordable. The waitress says they have been in this location for 13 years, and it shows. The sidewalk is very cracked and crumbling.

Seriously, good sushi for a very decent price. The owner and staff are very nice, and always treat us well! It is located in the center of Briarwood Mall, which may not appeal to everyone...but I say give them a chance, because they are worth it! This is my preference for Sushi in Ann Arbor!

Service really depends on the day...the bubble tea is good but service can really, really suck. One time I was completely ignored by a girl behind the counter. There was no closed sign or anything, and if she was on break it would have been easy to say so. The other day I stopped by for some bubble tea and the cashier took three orders of bubble tea and proceeded to make bubble tea for the last person who ordered, then it took him 10 minutes to make the first person’s order and he forgot about mine for nearly 20 minutes. He was helping with making sushi so I figured he was busy, but no, he just forgot about it. At least he was apologetic. Of the several times I’ve been here, I’ve only had one good experience.

I was a little unsure about trying this place at first since it’s in a mall. But I am so glad that I did! I get their spicy salmon roll with smoked salmon. It’s so tasty and inexpensive! I would highly recommend this place to sushi lovers!
Aly S — Google review
Worst "honeydew" bubble tea I have ever tasted. The flavor was barely stirred into the milk tea and tasted terrible. They were also out of tapioca balls, so I settled for the "jellies." Gross. Total waste of $5.

Wolverine Sushi Bar is a delightful dining destination that offers an inviting atmosphere with friendly staff and fun music, making it a great spot for sushi lovers. The restaurant shines with its extensive vegan menu, featuring around 20 unique rolls and even vegan poke bowls, catering to those who prefer plant-based options. Their All You Can Eat (AYCE) special is particularly popular, allowing guests to indulge in two rolls at a time from a diverse selection that includes both traditional and special creations.
Needed to get some vegan lunch and this sushi place has more options than just about any sushi place we've ever been to. We had such a tough time deciding we ended up getting the vegan tray. 10 rolls for 2 people ended up with us taking a lot home, but every single roll was so amazing!

They have an AYCE menu at Wolverine Sushi Bar that's really delicous and I love the amount of vegan variety they have for those eating animal-free. 😋 AYCE is available on weekends now too. 🍣 They also have vegan salmon and tuna sashimi! Featured: Vegan creamy ramen (not included in AYCE) Grasshopper x2 Rivendell The Cornballer Trippie Hippie

Clean. Very friendly waitstaff. Private restrooms. Fun music. Great food. So basically a great experience all around. I love it here because they have many (like actually 20) vegan sushi rolls, and that's pretty rad. They also have a great vegan poke bowl that I loved. I'm not a fan of the ordering system that you have to do with the app, as I like to put my phone down when I'm out with friends for meals, but when you do the AYCE sushi special, you can order from the waitress, so that's nice. Be aware that they have a rule that everyone in your party needs to order the all-you-can-eat sushi for anyone to have it. I'm assuming its to prevent sharing. Been here lots and will keep going.
Kim G — Google review
Good food and service. We tried california roll and the bento box. The kimchi could be improved to be a little more authentic but everything else was good. The place itself is spacious and tidy.
Aniket — Google review
We did the Thursday evening sushi all-you-can-eat for $35/person and it was a good deal. The sushi was good, but could have been better with less filler like cheese and sesame. Next time I'll order more nigiri.
Flynn D — Google review
We arrived a bit closer to the closing time, but the quality of sushi is still good! I like the softness of the sushi rice, which have perfectly balanced sweetness and the vinager! In addition, their Masago nigiri has an unique awesome flavor!
Shang-En H — Google review
Super cute place! Went for the All You Can Eat sushi. Its $35 per person and you order 2 rolls at a time from a list they provide (vegan options, roll options and special roll options), there is also select appetizers available as well as two different desserts. There is a 2hr limit. The restaurant looks like it has a great bar selection with a variety of mix options. I will say service seemed to be a little slow but it was totally worth it!. I'd check it out again for sure. There is plenty of parking options throughout downtown.
Jessica ( — Google review
The fish is pretty good. I feel like they put way more rice than necessary, especially for AYCE. I got a peach slush that wasn't super sweet, but it was pretty tasty. The service was alright, there was one waiter working when I went. If you go there for the AYCE, I suggest getting the nigri more than the rolls since they put a lot of rice in them.
