Yerbabuena del Sisal is a charming restaurant located in Valladolid, offering a tranquil dining experience across from the Spanish convent of Saint Bernard of Siena. The menu features Yucatec cuisine such as panuchos de cochinita pibil and red chilaquiles, along with vegetarian options and international dishes like burgers and lasagne.
Fantastic place with great vegetarian options. The host was super friendly and the food was unique and delicious. I personally would prefer if they went lighter in the cheese though.

Very good vegan food and excellent customer service. Recommend for vegan food. Mexican and pokebowl style.
Ryan T — Google review
It was a feel-good meal with a few great vegan options. All the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. The complimentary mango served before the meal was such a thoughtful touch, and the drinks are served in handcrafted cups, adding a unique and charming touch. The flavors were fresh and vibrant — I’d definitely come back again. A wonderful spot for vegans and travelers alike!

This is my favorite restaurant in Valladolid. The food is absolutely delicious! There is a beautiful garden seating area, calm music, very friendly staff, and an expansive menu that caters to diverse palates and diets. My wife and I have been coming everyday and we are never disappointed. Yerbabuena is a true culinary gem and a must for any foodie.
Christopher H — Google review
Yay veggies! Yerba Buena was a refreshing change after the mostly-meat diet available everywhere else. We had enchiladas, vegetarian lasagne with salad, and mushroom pasta. The succulent pastas seemed to be home-made. Both the linguine and lasagna were truly excellent in texture and flavour.
Hein V — Google review
Edited to add that 4.5 years later I came back and the chilaquiles are still the best! Consistency across the board with flavor, presentation and service. 🙏🏼 Wow! I’ve been in Mexico for 3 months and between all the places I’ve had chilaquiles in various different states and cities, these are the best. This restaurant has a beautifully tranquil outdoor space, the staff is all genuinely friendly and warm and the food tastes good, is presented in a beautiful manner and it’s not overpriced. Good energy matters when cooking and I can tell whoever made my food has it. Muchas Gracias Yerbabuena!
Del C — Google review
Best cappuccino so far on our trip (all others have been too weak for these two Europeans!). The food is decently priced and delicious! So much flavor, and even my spouse who can’t handle spicy food loved his pork dish (he asked for the mole sauce on the side). I had the Yucatán chicken dish and it was incredibly flavorful. Handmade warm blue-corn tortillas on the side. The mole was delicious as well, but a tad on the spicy side even for my taste. Also tried the tamarind Agua fresqua which I’ve never tried before, refreshing but a little sweet (not too sweet, I assume it’s supposed to be a little sweet!). Facilities are clean as well, great restrooms, space between tables, cute decor, pleasant music playing in the background (nothing loud or annoying like in some other places). Also, not often mentioned, but they had sharp cutlery so you can actually cut your meat. This impressed my spouse who has been annoyed by the “butter knives” we’ve received at other places. Staff was super friendly and very efficient with food and getting the bill etc. They even have a little map where you can put a pin to say where you’re from! 10/10 would go back in a heartbeat. Perfect spot for lunch or breakfast.

Absolutely delicious! Great choice of fine and yummy food. Many vegetarian plates, wonderful breakfast, good juices and smoothies. Great coffee, nice garden and and and good service! We were there twice and were sad, that it already closes at 5pm…. Best restaurant in town!

Farmers Markets
Located just a few blocks from the city center, Mercado Municipal de Valladolid offers an authentic Mexican market experience and a glimpse into local life. The bustling market is filled with vendors selling everything from affordable clothing to fresh produce, spices, handicrafts, and flowers. Despite some reports of unpleasant odors, many visitors find the market vibrant and full of life.
I was fueling up at the petrol station opposite and I decided to have a look at this market. It was Sunday afternoon so some stall had already closed or were shutting down. The produce looks really good and there is another section with shoes, hats, trinkets and so on. I bought an Obsidian bracelet and massaging stone for a fraction of the price in the centre. Some of the people here are actually making the things that they are selling. Follow Calle 37 out of the centre and it is opposite the petrol station. It is not far.
Gordon B — Google review
Great vibes with an assortment of vendors selling fresh produce and hand crafted goods. Restroom costs MX$5 to use and was relatively sanitary. Worth a stop if you are in the area.
David W — Google review
Valladolid is one of the most beautiful cities in the Península and if you live in Yucatán is mandatory to visit it at least once in your life. There is a lot of regional food in the market of the city and you also can buy some local vegetables. Near the market, there is also a cenote but you can't access unless you pay. During my vacations last week I also visited the festival of Valladolid is not as big as Xmatkuil festival but it doesn't feel less enjoyable, there is a lot of things to see like the regional dances, during the winter is almost mandatory to wear warm clothes.

Nice little market. 1 of the buildings hosts the butchers and clothing. I'd avoid that build as the smell is not very pleasant. The other building hosts the veg and fruit. It is a newer building and much nicer to visit.
Nikko — Google review
Definitely worth visiting to see some authentic culture. If you’re a traveller like me, pick up some spices. Recommend: achiote, Mexican orégano, and dried peppers. I paid 10 Peso per bag.
Arthur S — Google review
This mercado is little bit off the beaten track, at the edge of town some 10 min walk from the cenote Zaci. It's housed in a beautiful arched colonial style edifice and it's very colorful inside. You'll find everything there - fruits, vegetables, meats, clothes and what I was most amazed with - homemade HOT sauces in so many different colors. I bought over 10 at less than 2$ a piece. Great place to soak local atmosphere and many local eateries around
Dejan B — Google review
Nice stop for ladies looking for souvenirs or fresh fruits and snacks. Colorful display of vegetables, flowers, and also fresh meats. Men would probably be wondering why you took them along. Nice stroll from the city center, about 1 mile. By the way, I always ask for permission before taking pics. Just do it.

Hotel Posada San Juan is a charming 19th-century hotel located in the heart of Valladolid's historic center. The hotel features a beautiful courtyard garden with lush foliage and a small outdoor pool, providing a tranquil oasis for guests to relax after exploring the town. With only 16 rooms, each decorated with vibrant mosaic tiles and some even featuring hammocks, guests are guaranteed plenty of space and unique accommodations.
If you’re looking for a slice of Mexican paradise - this is your place. I NEVER want to leave (currently sitting by the beautiful pool relaxing avoiding check out)! The staff are so helpful, accommodating and kind! It almost feels like home and guest are royal - so spoilt. Welcome drink included, safe parking available, great music playing in the background setting a vibe! I wish we stayed longer than two nights. You won’t regret booking here and you too won’t want to leave!

We chose to visit Valladolid last minute on a whim and we are so grateful we did! What a charming place full of culture. Our stay at Hotel Posada San Juan was fabulous. The room, staff, food, attention to detail - what a gem! We had such an incredible time and definitely plan to return. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

We loved this place! Beautiful building, excellent food, people are welcoming and always available to help! Highly recommended! We also booked the excursion to Chichen Itza with them. It was a wonderful day, and both our driver and our guide were simply amazing.

Wow what a an amazing hotel. The service is personable. The hotel is so clean and the pool perfect with the tables and loungers outside the room. Perfect for little ones with a little kids corner too. Around a 10min walk to to the main square. Easy parking etc

Good location, have their own parking. Large rooms, excellent beds. Place is spotless. Pool with sitting area and eating area. Very friendly and attentive staff. Our family had 12 people from 8 to 73 and 4 rooms. No complaints.
Michael M — Google review
We had a great stay at Posada San Juan. The hotel is family-owned, very central, and perfect for exploring Valladolid. The staff is welcoming (while not speaking english for most of them), the atmosphere is authentic, and the value for money is excellent. It’s also a lovely place to disconnect and enjoy a more local experience. That said, the rooms are on the smaller side and decorated in a traditional style, so don’t expect modern or high-tech stuff. Still, it’s a charming spot and I’d recommend it for a 3–4 day visit to Valladolid. We also tried the hotel’s private cenotes, which was a unique and memorable experience. The service was outstanding and having the place to ourselves was special. Just be aware that it’s a 2-hour drive each way on rough roads, which can be tough for small kids.
Emilien E — Google review
This is one of most expensive hotels in Valladolid, but it was well worthy. The location is central, we were assigned to the new building (they have two). The hotel is a gem, sitting in a lush nature landscape, quiet, relaxing and so are the rooms, very roomy by the way. It's the perfect hotel for a retreat, to relax and reconnect with nature and your thoughts. But, we didn't do that much, as we were busy exploring the city, the archaeological sites surrounding it, and we had 5 great days. We were waking up in the morning with the songs of birds, then we would head to their breakfast buffet. It's not huge but it has everything you can eat in the morning, cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, and I am not a big fan of milk, but you got to try their whole milk: it tasted like the milk we used to get many years in the mountains of Italy, rich, silky, flavorful. You can order eggs on top of that and I suggest you do, order the scrambled eggs with chaya maya, a herb that they used pretty much everywhere in Yucatan and it's very healthy and great tasting. I want to mention Gabriel among the staff: great guy, always helpful, gentle and ready to provide great service and advices. I know we will go back to Valladolid and I know we are going to come back to this hotel.

A Hidden Gem Full of Warmth and History We had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful historical hotel in Mexico. The decor is stunning—full of charm and character that transports you to another time. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, even waiting for us late into the evening after we were delayed due to a flooded highway. A special mention goes to the restaurant across the street, owned by the same people. The food was absolutely amazing, and Ruben treated us to a wonderful mezcal tasting that was a real highlight of our trip. We truly wish we had stayed longer. This place is a treasure—we'll definitely be back! Mucha gracias Santiago y Gabriel!

Calzada de los Frailes, also known as Friars Road, offers a glimpse into Valladolid's colonial past. The street is lined with vibrant 16th-century homes, sombrero shops, and small restaurants. At the end of the road lies the tranquil Parque Sisal where visitors can relax and people-watch. Adjacent to the park stands the Convento de San Bernardino de Siena, an impressive sand-colored structure that adds to the area's historical charm.
Iconic street of Valladolid especially during the Dia de muertos
Frederic O — Google review
Very pretty pastel coloured, colonial buildings along a straight street full of trendy boutique shops and up-market restaurants. A wealthy genteel atmosphere. Pleasant to stroll down to the Convent at the bottom. I did enjoy a good coffee in the small colonial cafe to the right at the corner of the street just as it opens into the Plaza.
Richard C — Google review
This like the main road in the city, it is so beautiful at night with colorful left and right buildings. These buildings has small doors but in the back they hide a lot of sceens, restaurants, shops, coffee shops and hotels. I did a fast forward video showing the whole street. It take you to the night show at St Bernardino monastery witch occure every night at 9:00 pm. You will find different types of food there. When you walk look at the details.
Karam S — Google review
Beautiful street with many boutiques and restaurants for all.
D D — Google review
Calzada de Los Frailes is a beautiful and charming cobbled street in Valladolid that runs diagonally from the centre of the city to the Sisal neighbourhood and the ex-convent. It is lined with pretty, pastel-coloured buildings on both sides which have cute boutique shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels and sidewalk bars. There are some delicious vegan and vegetarian restaurants along the street including Le Kaat, Yerbabuena and Elela (the last two are situated on the street across from the convent). I loved wandering along this street and taking photos of the pretty buildings. It was generally quiet, although the street is open to vehicles, so it could get busy at times. It was lovely to explore here!
Brittany T — Google review
The Calzada de los Frailes is a four century old narrow road that connects the Monastery of San Bernardino de Siena, the ancient Mayan barrio of Sisal and the downtown neighborhoods of Valladolid. This is both a residential and commercial street so don't walk into just any door. It is beautiful though and walking down it you feel the blend of the Spanish and Mayan cultures. If you are in need of souvenirs, there is a little shop right at the start called "Colores de Mexico". The prices are a tiny bit high but they are fair and the obviously handcrafted items are carved from the very heart of Mexican culture, blending folk arts of colonial Spanish and indigenous designs like the hand punched tin and wood crosses adorned with little milagros and painted with bright colors that you'd expect to see all across Mexico, but especially in the Caribbean facing Yucatan.
Jacob N — Google review
Beautiful colonial walk around colorful buildings leading to the park. In the park you will find dancing, singing, food stands and beautiful flowers. Along the walk you can find shops, restaurants and the beautiful church. I recommend trying some yucatecan dishes while in the peninsula. Very safe but still be smart. Also, try some #marquesitas but they close at 10 and it was the only stand I found selling them in #Valladolid
Andie P — Google review
Great street it is a nice 15 min walk from the central place to the conventi. There are a few public parking around so it should not be a problem to park your car in exchange for a few pesos.

Casa Quetzal Hotel, established in 2005, provides a peaceful and tranquil environment for guests with its spacious and beautifully decorated Colonial Mexican-style rooms. The hotel is ideally situated in the historical center of Valladolid, Yucatan, offering lush surroundings and easy access to various attractions. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast and relax in the ample gardens and terraces after a day of adventures.
Fantastic stay. Great breakfast options, fantastic service, awesome spa services, and patient with a couple of English speakers. Great location right next to the convent, all sorts of restaurants, city square and tourist shopping centre. A short drive to where the locals shop too. Great jump off for local ruins. We stayed in the cabin, totally worth it. There's a bar by the nun convent that was a bit loud at night (there's a fan in the room, but bring ear plugs if you're sensitive to noise).
Ryan C — Google review
All in all OK.. Booked the garden pavillon with.. And for my taste the room was horrible. Might be a matter of taste but I didn't like it at all. The whole room consists mainly out of mosquito nets. Some are covered but in total its easy for people to look straight into the room !! The wall behind the bed is completly uncovered. Will be full daylight early in the morning. Mosquito and ants in the room. Of course no AC in this room so you will sweat even by night. Looked different on the picture in the internet. Kindly asked the host for another room and got one for a day. Big room at the front side.Quite nice but loud because of the street. Toilet had a wall but is open on the top and has no actual door. Call ne oldfashioned but was a problem when travelling with my girlfriend :D All in all when you book the garden pavillon be sure you are searching for exactly that experience
Marvin W — Google review
Charming hotel with basic services. Tiny plunge pool was in need of a cleanup and breakfast while basic is fine. AC works fine.m and location is good , not too far from city center. Overall decent place that could earn an extra “star” if better kept
JP P — Google review
The hotel is small, very nicely decorated. Its location is excellent and close to all attractions and restaurants. We felt that the staff could have gone more out of their way to make us feel at home, such as helping with the luggage, for example, or asking what we wanted for breakfast, we felt a bit like transparent guests.
Revitalbj — Google review
The rooms were clean and roomy. The mattress could use replacement. Past commitments mentioned the noise. This, in fact, is true. Barking dogs are the main source, but if you intend to sleep early, you must also contend with the bar a few doors down and awful karaoke singers. The traffic noise is not bad. Perhaps the hotel can talk to the neighbors with the poorly behaving dogs. I suggest ear plugs when visiting here. When we asked for two extra pillows, they could only offer one. As an elderly couple, having that extra pillow helps ease back and knee pain. The breakfast was better than the continental type I was expecting. They put us on the second floor and did not offer any help with getting our bags up the flight of stairs. I like to consider ourselves as a spry couple in our 70s, but the second floor has a long stairway and the courtyard is gravel meaning we had to carry our luggage across from check-in and up the stairs. It's likely the longest haul of luggage during our month tour of Mexico. The morning staff at breakfast are friendly and attentive. The location is near some of the best restaurants in town.
Vince S — Google review
There was a hammock in the room - so amazing. We stayed here only one night, but it was fantastic. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The courtyard is super gorgeous and the breakfast is also really yummy. The location is good, it is at the end of a street that has lots of nice restaurants.
Andreas V — Google review
Our room had two rocking chairs, what more can we say? Lovely garden, nice big room, comfortable beds. The street outside had more traffic than we expected, but our room (not along the street side) was very quiet. Unlike most hotels, the AC didn't blow right on us, yet kept the room very comfortable for sleeping. The location is wonderful, very close to the convent and the nightly light show (when it's not raining!). The only thing we would have liked was more yogurt in the bowl for breakfast. One bowl for 2 people, not enough.
Midge O — Google review
What a cute hotel! Very small boutique hotel, the courtyard/pool area is beautiful! The rooms are organized around the courtyard, so the view from every window is paradise. We were pleasantly surprised by the "continental breakfast ". Tables in the courtyard were covered with white linen tablecloths, and servers brought fruit, yogurt, granola, breads and coffee. The bed in the room was probably the worst hotel bed I've ever slept on, but I loved the room so much it was somehow okay. Huge, spacious bathroom; and a Hammock you can steing across the room. The windows had screens so you could enjoy them and enjoy the cool evening breezes, but the ac worked great as well. The location was great, right next to the monastery.

I've eaten three times at this restaurant during my stay. It is a few more blocks from the Centro, but it is definitely worth it! Servers and staff are extremely friendly. I would definitely eat here again if I am in town.

Without doubt the worst food (burrito) I've ever had! Everything is tasteless and there is barely any filling in our burritos. If you like to eat dry overcooked tasteless tortillas this is the place for you. If you prefer to enjoy your food, I recommend you get some streetfood or make your own burrito with ingredients from the supermarket

Beautiful setting, wonderful staff and delicious food. The cochnita pibil was delish and large portions. Good sampling of regional and snack food. Several dishes but not overwhelming. Will be back for breakfast soon.
Cate C — Google review
Came here just for breakfast (the photos on Google do not represent the actual food just so you know) Ordered the granola bowl, arrived without the main part, the yogurt, with no explanation. When I asked the chef/waiter, he just told me they didn't have any. Questionable why they offered it to me in the first place. Waffle was pretty poor standard too for such a basic dish. Asked for the granola bowl to be taken off the bill. They refused and said they would only discount the yogurt. Better places to eat in Valladolid so avoid if you can.
Reece R — Google review
The hotel is a small oasis with a nice garden, little pool and a handful of comfortable rooms. Internet works well. Everything is arranged with care. The staff is extremely friendly, the restaurant serves delicious traditional food and the host speaks very well English. They have been really helpful and welcomed our 2yr old baby with open arms. I could not give a higher recommendation.
Lothar V — Google review
My husband and I had a spontaneous stay at Casa Aluxes Hotel after deciding to extend our visit in Valladolid at the last minute. Although we didn't have advance reservations, the staff was extremely accommodating & welcoming. The location is excellent, just a couple minutes walking to the Calzada de los Frailes. The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the shower had fast & consistent hot water. The entire property has a ton of character, there are personal little touches throughout and great spaces for relaxing, eating or just having a drink from the bar. The included breakfast was excellent. I asked for tea and our waitress/hostess Nere gave me her own personal tea as the hotel didn't have any on hand. She even packaged a few extra of her tea bags for me to take with me as a gift in case our next hotel/restaurant didn't have any tea. To my amazement, the envelope containing the tea bags was hand drawn and painted by Nere herself! Our spontaneous stop turned out to be one of our favorite hotel stays of our trip!

I never liked writing reviews but this time I must to make sure you know that the food is very bad here. This is the last place you wanna go in Valladolid. Way way better places. We ordered a box premium to have a bit of variety, the hotdog and hamburger was good but once we got to the sushi and wings wow what a nightmare. The rice of the sushi was all gooey with no flavor and the wings were and I am not exaggerating the worst I have ever tasted: no flavor, the breading worst process, and the sauces super bad quality. All this to then encounter the 600 peso bill, the price is great but not when the quality is that bad…

Le Kaat is a charming vegetarian and vegan restaurant located in Valladolid, Mexico. This cozy spot offers an extensive menu that caters to those with dietary restrictions or preferences, featuring everything from coffee to burgers and avocado pies. One of the highlights is the 'taco trilogy,' which puts a vegan spin on beloved Mexican classics like Cochinita Pibil, Pastor, and Barbacoa tacos.
This might be the best vegetarian restaurant in Valladolid! For being attached to a hotel, it is very reasonably priced. I came here 6 times during my stay in Valladolid and every time I left satisfied but also wanting to come back and try more. Everything was delicious but I think my favorite has to be the tacos, I could not believe it wasn’t real meat! They have a very sweet guitarist who seems to know unlimited songs coming in the evenings toward the end of the week, who is not pushy about tips like they are in some places. My only regret is not coming back more to try everything on the menu!

Atmosphere and service were fantastic! A live musician accompanied our night. Sadly, the food didn’t really match our taste. We had high expectations because everything on the menu sounded fantastic but ultimately, we didn’t enjoy our dishes as much as we’d hoped (smoked mushrooms + cauliflower). The vegan tacos and avocado cake were great though!

Beautiful, tasty, healthy food. We were here Christmas Eve and just had to go back when we were in town again in September. We were happily surprised to see the same talented guitarist playing as on our first visit. Food is tasty and elegantly presented. Drinks were amazing. Our server did a great job. Lovely garden courtyard setting. Will go back gladly next time we’re in town!

We stopped here for a quick lunch before departing Valladolid, and it was a wonderful choice. Every dish was full of flavor, each paired with a unique and delicious sauce. The food was light yet satisfying, leaving us perfectly content. To top it all off, the lovely garden setting made the experience even more enjoyable. A great spot for a delightful meal!

Fabulous food: fresh, clean, great combinations, and especially Veg and Vegan ONLY. Visit. It will not disappoint. Reasonably priced too.

We stumbled across this little gem of a place on our first night in Valladolid and what a find it was. Food was amazing (guacamole to start and the curry). Service was brilliant and the workers were so friendly and smiley! When we were here, there was the most amazing guitar player. We sat sipping wine listening to him for over an hour and it was one of our favourite nights on our México travels! We bumped into the owner before we left, and he was incredibly kind and warm. Gave us recommendations for Valladolid. We loved it here ❤️

Was such a nice place that we came here for both dinner and breakfast! Many vegan options for both dinner and breakfast, all well thought through. Very nice atmosphere and there were always people there when we passed by (which I see as a good grade). Super friendly and engaging staff. We were also lucky to go there for dinner when they had a musician performing both Mexican and international hits with his guitar, which was a romantic bonus. Lovely little outdoor seating area, but as the restaurant is open towards the road with no clear door to close it was no problem to sit “inside” either. Very good food too, also appreciated by my non-vegan or vegetarian husband (even though it could - as most places we went to in Mexico - need some more seasoning to really bring out the flavours of their fantastic produces). Also appreciated that they had vegan desserts, as that is not that easy to get in many other restaurants. Would definitely return!

In Valladolid, Mexico, the Mercado Artesanias is a must-visit for those seeking traditional handcrafted items. Located in the town center, this market offers a wide array of beautiful hammocks, hipiles, hats, guayaberas, sandals and other local crafts from various vendors. It's an ideal place to find unique gifts or keepsakes that showcase the authentic flavors of Mexico. Additionally, visitors can enjoy delicious local food while exploring the market's offerings.
Beautiful, you’ll want to buy everything

I had a jacket with a broken zipper and a wonderful woman with a sewing machine at Mercado Artesanías put on a new Zipper that can be purchased down the street.

I came mainly to buy fridge magnets. At the cheapest stall, you could get three for 100 pesos, but some stalls were selling them for 200 pesos each. The quality of the products also seemed a bit inconsistent.
Charles T — Google review
Few stores, and of them, a fraction are real handcrafted.

The review is for the restaurant inside this mercado. It is hidden all the way inside the indoor market, near the bathroom. It is not on google map. It mainly serves the locals but I also saw a couple of tourists there. The menu’s spanish only but there is a friendly waiter who speaks English. Pescado Frito (fried whole fish) for 135 pesos and 1 liter papayas juice for 45 are both good steals. I am leaving this town tomorrow morning and wished I have found this place earlier. Definitely a hidden gem.
Ck L — Google review
It’s really hard to say whether these are artisans. The quality isn’t great, you can tell it’s a lot of mass cheaply produced items. Maybe a few items are better quality but it’s not artisanal. Around 6:30 most of the shops were closed so the operating times are incorrect.

Make sure to bargain the prices down at least 500 pesos down from their original price!!!

Local and exquisite food, inexpensive and the plates are well served. I'm Mexican so I had no trouble with the food, but if you're foreign and/or with weak stomach be careful, but not fear at all.

Hotel Le Muuch is a 4-star boutique property located in Valladolid, Yucatan, offering a relaxed and colorful atmosphere. It's conveniently situated near attractions such as Mercado Municipal and Cathedral of San Gervasio. The hotel features both indoor and outdoor pools, a jacuzzi, spa, terrace, and garden for guests to enjoy.
The entire decor and landscaping is beautiful. All the staff is very friendly and willing to help. There’s lots of places to hang out. The included breakfast was very generous and you’ll surely leave full, it’s a mix of western and Mexican choices. 5 min walk from the center. We never heard any of the other guests. The rooms were incredibly clean and we’d surely come back. Pricing is appropriate for the value. The only thing was a delta if I was working is the WiFi is slow but fine for me because I wanted to disconnect.
Belem S — Google review
We cancelled our reservation withing their guidelines however the hotel had asked a deposit of 50% of our stay upon confirmation. The hotel fraudulently charged our credit card for another 50% and never reimbursed us the amount paid in advance. The worst part: Despite sending three emails, the hotel has never replied, never acknowledged our messages, and never refunded us. Instead, they charged the full amount without consent. Not only did the hotel never refund the deposit, but they also charged the full remaining balance of the reservation without my consent. This is unacceptable, unprofessional, and a breach of trust. ⚠️ Advice to travelers: Do not use your credit card with this establishment — the risk of unjustified charges is real. Choose a hotel that respects its customers and its own cancellation terms. Many other accommodations in Valladolid are far more honest and professional. Stay away.

Beautiful hotel located in the centre of Valladolid. The pictures don’t lie, the whole hotel is designed perfectly. Breakfast is perfect, the cocktails world class and that for less then 100euro per night incl breakfast! Only small point of improvement is the quality/friendliness of the reception staff.
Luuk R — Google review
A good boutique hotel centrally located in Valladolid. Rooms were clean but quite dark even when they shades were open, and in our case the toilet made a lot of noise because it wasn’t working correctly (we decided though not to mention it as we eventually found our own solution). Also from around 6/6:30am you can hear a lot of noise from the streets and the hotel (walls are quite thin), especially dogs barking (not in there control but just as a heads up). Finally, they make you sign a very long policy waiver (so make sure to read carefully) and when we checked out, one of the towels in our room was “too dirty“ because my husband got his shoes a little dirty because he stepped on a puddle that was outside the hotel (water didn’t drain well in front of the hotel and there was a big puddle blocking the entrance that was there during our whole stay). They ended up forcing us to pay $150 (7 euros) for a hand towel because we signed this policy - they were also not very nice. In the end, they offered that we could wait for them to try and wash the towel to see if it comes off (it was also obvious that it would come off especially because it was white and they could easily bleach it) but we just wanted to leave so we paid. It’s a shame that they made such a big fuss of this because it just left a bad taste for us, the money in the end didn’t matter it was more the way it was handled and the way they treated us - also considering it was meant to be one of the nicest hotels in the area.

Very pretty hotel with a lot of plants everywhere. Some parts of the room (for example the bathroom) could use a renovation.
Salomé — Google review
There is no wi-fi in the rooms. There are barking dogs from the courtyard next door. The bathroom floors are extremely slippery. The front desk does a poor job of greeting guests. There can often be a language barrier, so perhaps that was the problem. They told me my rooms were prepaid and then charged me again. They could provide no documentation that disputed the charges on my credit card. The people in the bar and in the restaurant were terrific. I want to recommend this hotel, but in the end I would suggest looking elsewhere as it is the most expensive option in Valladolid.

This luxury hotel has a French Chateau feel with all the modern amenities. The staff are attentive and will go out of their way to please you. If you're looking for a luxurious getaway in Valladolid, look no further than the COQUI COQUI Meson de Malleville Hotel.
An unique place with an unique experience. Every single detail has been crafted for the guest's joy and it could not have a better location right in the heart of Valladolid downtown. Pictures won't make enough justice of this world class maison that most major cities will never have!

A dream honestly! Spent 4 nights here and I felt like an 19th century princess. Breakfast was great, I slept comfortably and it was on a safe street. Will definitely return in the future

This place was awesome. My husband and I stayed at Meson de Malleville-Coqui Coqui Valladolid for two nights as our last stop on our honeymoon before going home. I can't say enough nice things about it. There was a bit of a language barrier as we don't speak Spanish very well, but everyone we interacted with (Soledad, Wendy, and a very nice man whose name I didn't catch) were so accommodating and friendly. They were so attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience a wonderful one. We stayed in the master suite - plunge pool and garden off the suite (which was amazing), beautiful room with twin tubs, large bathroom with outdoor shower, and a stocked mini-fridge. Our stay included a continental breakfast that was honestly the best continental breakfast I've ever had anywhere. Each morning we had fresh mango, yogurt, granola, toast, marmalade, fresh squeezed juice, and coffee in the courtyard. It was seriously such a wonderful experience, and such a beautiful place to stay - I wish we could have stayed longer. I would definitely recommend Coqui Coqui Valladolid to everyone. I can't wait to go back.

Magical, one of the best hotels I have ever been. Design is incredible, service is very punctual, Soledad was very kind and Arturo very welcoming. Rooms are personalized with the perfumes you choose at the check in.

What is there to say about this experience other than it was superb. Everything about our stay at Meson de Malleville was unbelievable. The hotel is stunning. Elena, the woman at the front desk, is passionate about Coqui Coqui and explaining the meaning behind the hotel and parfumerie. She also provided the best food recommendations we received on our trip. Each room is stunning and each room has its own scent which is derived from local Yucatan ingredients. We only stayed for one night because we were traveling through but we will absolutely be back because it was such a memorable, luxurious, pleasurable experience. Thank you Elena and everyone at Coqui Coqui.
Anja G — Google review
Unquestionably the best hotel stay I've ever had, and I've frequented 5 star locations throughout my career. The privacy of Meson de Malleville lends itself to complete tranquility. Guests have full access to two courtyards, a beautiful and well appointed library, and, of course, a large master bedroom. Wendy, Soledad and the entire team were welcoming, accommodating, and friendly without being intrusive. There are only two things I would offer commentary on for improvement. The shower in the room is actually an outdoor shower. It was filled with mosquitos as a result, and I never felt like I could shower without getting eaten alive, so I utilized the bath every night (not a bad option at all!). The second thing is temporary, and that is that there is currently construction above the room. I work remotely, so it interrupted a number of my calls. Had I known this, I likely would have made other arrangements for the days I needed to have video calls. The wifi was strong enough to support Zoom calls from the bedroom, and there's a great desk to work on. I cannot recommend staying at this property strongly enough, and I look forward to returning!

Really bummed to report that Coqui Coqui was an utter disappointment that felt soul-less and like a real-life Instagram trap. We had long admired the owners' story, their fragrance line and we had drooled over images of all of the Coqui residences for quite some time. After an uneventful NYE in 2017, we booked a 5-night trip to stay at Coqui Coqui's Perfumery Suite in March 2018 to ensure our next NYE into 2019 would be amazing. Needless to say, we had been anticipating the wonder and glory of all that Coqui Coqui had to offer all year long. When we finally arrived, we immediately noticed that there was a hugely lacking sense of service/hospitality and almost next to nothing amenities. Want coffee or tea? You'll need to set up an appointment for that - because of course, there is a charge, and no, there is never anyone around to dote on you. Any requests or questions that we did have took hours to hear back on. And that gorgeous Perfumery Suite pool that you see in all the photos doesn't actually belong to the Perfumery Suite, it's the spa's pool only. And when you go to the spa and look forward to using the pool, you won't because it's filthy and you low key can't trust the water since the sewer fields are right next door whose smell you cannot escape unless you're locked inside your room. To be fair, the Perfumery Suite has it's own water feature but it's more akin to a fountain rather than a usable pool or tub. We thought that maybe this was singular to Valladolid and ventured off to Coqui Coba where we had a couple's treatment booked for the day. We did have a great lunch at Coba but the spa treatment was a C- at the very best. The revitalizing "deep tissue" massage felt more like inexperienced tickling from a stranger. The Coqui Coba pools were not pools at all the day we visited. They were all half full and marked with dirt and black streaks of something - no one dared to dip a toe in nor was anyone laying out on a perfectly sunny day. And what made us a little uncomfortable at both the Coba and Valladolid properties, was the fact that all of the front of house greeting staff were these young, white European kids who "knew the owners" that while friendly, did not actually do much except give you a half smile while focused on their laptops/phones. All the actual working staff were Mexican. On New Years day, we each had the 3 hour Regeneration Ritual booked. We couldn't have been more excited to start off the new year this way. Upon walking to the spa from the Perfumery Suite, we noticed that no one was there so we waited a beat before the front hostess came out to let us know the therapists were on their way from Coba and would be about 10 minutes late. Over an hour later, the same therapists we had at Coba arrived. We decided to retreat to our rooms as to not feel so uncomfortable while they scurried around to prep their stations which took another 15 minutes or so. Again we had lackluster massages which ended with a glorified coconut milk bath. We made the best of it but were late to our dinner reservation and moreover, were just disappointed on what we were expecting to be a very grand "ritual" experience. It was simply an ok massage and a bath from over-worked masseuses. We wouldn't have been so bummed if our expectations weren't so high based on their glorious depiction of the ritual on the spa menu. This is the longest review I've ever written but I think it's important to give an honest review of this Coqui Coqui. We were really bummed to have fallen into a modern day Instagram trap where you travel to a far away corner expecting a genuine travel experience but instead witness photogenic snippets and zero soul. Obviously, other reviewers had a great time here but if you're a traveler that is looking for an authentic experience in the area, don't be fooled by Coqui Coqui's worst version of cultural appropriation.

Nestled in a charming colonial house that once served as a tile factory, Verde Morada is a delightful boutique hotel located on the picturesque Calzada de Los Frailes in Valladolid. This enchanting destination transports you back to the colonial era while offering modern comforts and artistic touches throughout. Guests can unwind in the beautifully maintained garden or take a refreshing dip in the vintage-style pool, adding to its unique allure.
Verde Morada is a beautiful hotel in a historic house. It is located on the most beautiful street of Valladolid - Calzada de Los Frailes. The staff is very welcoming. We had a big room on the ground floor: high ceiling and a glass door opening to the gardens. It was lovely! Breakfast was small but very good with fruits and pastries. The hotel is close to major landmarks and there are tons of cute shops and cafes around. I highly recommend it!

Excellent boutique hotel in the heart of Calz. los Frailes. Staff were attentive and friendly. Hotel has a gorgeous pool and beautiful garden. We loved our stay, 10 minute walk into town and 5 minute walk to the convent. Hotel only has three rooms, very exclusive, private. Highly recommend!

If you want to get an impression of Yucatecan living, stay in this heritage home hotel. The small stone building from colonial times sports beautiful tiles, typical for the area, and is furniture with beautiful antiques. There are only 3 rooms, all of which are small, but beautifully furnished and comfortable. If you have a problem with stairs, ask for the downstairs room with views onto the garden. The garden, by the way, is the best part of the hotel. It’s like eden among the burning hot city. The old trees and beautifully designed ponds and pools create a microclimate. It’s fresh and pleasant. The ice cold water in the pool refreshes you, after exploring the town. Verde Morado is definitely one of my three favorite places in Yucatan.

Beautiful little hotel in a historic house on the most beautiful street of Valladolid Yucatán. We stayed two nights and there's nothing to complain about. The people at the Check-in are extremely friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for two. With A/C and fan, view to the Calzada. Very quiet and clean. The gardens are lovely, as is the swimming pool. And the Cafe is just perfect. Everyone is so friendly and nice. It is not just a perfume shop but also a luxurious spa and guesthouse housed in a 16th-century building filled with artisan crafts and the alluring scents of their house-made perfumes.

We came across Coqui Coqui on our walk on the cutest street in Valladolid and I knew we needed to check it out! We walked in and were greeted with the sweetest welcome, then given a full scent tour of all the available perfumes- but with no pressure to buy. It was such an interesting and informative session- we fell in love with Coqui Coqui and the whole brand! We needed some time to "wear in" the scents and promised we would come back. The next day we were greeted with the same enthusiasm and we decided to buy Coco Coco (our favorite!!). We let them know we were here for our wedding and they gave us such a generous and kind discount. Coco Coco is now our go-to scent and we can't wait to come back again when we need a refill! Coqui Coqui just got 2 new lifelong customers as my husband and I both LOVE the scent- and can't wait to try more in the future. 5 stars!!

Told guy we were there before 6:00 and just said sorry. This is for the owners, we are a hotel group looking for a fragrance… bad start And you employees closing your shop 1:15 hours before closing is not good for your business.. just thought you should know And guy closing… not a people person handing your business well

One of the most beautiful and special places we’ve been to in very very long time. We stayed only 2 nights but we wished we stayed more! Everything was curated to the very last detail. As soon as you arrive (being most importantly a perfumerie before being a Hotel) they make you choose between one of their Yucatan collection scents, and give you hair products of the chosen scents for the duration of your stay and then to take home as a gift. Additionally the also make you choose a perfume you like for each one of you and they gift you the small bottle! The brekfast on the terrace of the room was fantastic, with all local products and everything beautifully executed. The girls were all lovely, caring and attentive. Strongly suggested as a hotel or also only as a stop when in Valladolid, to buy their amazing products or just to have coffee and do a chocolate tasting. We wish to go back very soon.

Amazing place!!! I did not stay in the hotel, but I did visit the store. I was greeted by the receptionist and who let me smell the perfumes, try their special honeys and chocolates. The receptionist explained everything to me in Spanish with so much detail! I really appreciated being educated about all the products they offered. Any question I had, the receptionist knew the answer! I ended up buying a few items! I'm a native English speaker who is learning Spanish, and I really appreciated that the receptionist asked me which language I preferred to speak in instead of assuming that I wanted to speak in English. When I return to Valladolid I will definitely book a stay in their hotel. I didn't have a chance to book a spa service, but that is on my bucket list as well!
Janaye G — Google review
Coqui Coqui have a very beautiful property and the people working there are pretty smiley however we felt they fell short (way short) on the boutique service / concept for the following reasons: Couple things that really disappointed me and did not meet the standard: Hygiene and Safety: There was a bunch of hair from a previous guests on the copper bathtub. The bed sheets and pillows were all stained with like rust or something. On the terrace area there was a rusted coat hanger, nails and broken glass instead of plants on the rails. Communication: I had the worst and most frustrating time with this. I got sent a welcome email asking if i need anything special, I replied asking for a taxi ride from the airport and no one (EVER) replied. I actually sent like 3 follow-up emails. Never heard back. (actually doubt anyone is going to read this) The first morning there was no coffee, i asked for some, never heard back. Had to go buy coffee at a shop. I got a reply like 1,3 hrs. later. (while I was already drinking my coffee back in bed) Out first night they asked me what time i like my room cleaned, I said 3,30 pm as we had a weeding and would be out. only to be told the latest was only 3,00 pm. we got our room cleaned while we waited hanging by the lobby area. (super awkward) Our Sunday morning, I got asked what time would I like my room clean. I choose noon and off we went to have lunch and visit the town. When we come back they told us the maid hasn't arrived, room is still as we left it. In about an hour the maid shows up and we have to hang out OUTSIDE for an hour and 35 min under the 3:00 p.m. sun. TERRIBLE. For breakfast every day, there was something they forgot. There was no coffee on our first morning, they didn't bring milk the second day. When I asked for the milk I got a reply about 45 min later, I had already gone to the store and bought some. Privacy: While every time we needed something no one seem to be there, your staff seem to come upstairs randomly every time i was either using the pool or in the bathroom making it very enjoy the feel of privacy we were looking for. So overall, I would give Coqui Coqui Perfumeria: Aceptable. Soley based on how beautiful the place is. But its not a property where you will relax and be pampered.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Casa Aluxes. The check-in was smooth, the staff was very helpful, the room was spacious for 4 of us, and the rooftop bar was great and reasonably priced. We were especially relieved to find that there was plenty of free parking in the courtyard. Valladolid is a lovely, authentic Mexican city, which was quite refreshing after visiting Cancun and Riviera Maya.

The location is very good. Walking distance to the main center, the church, restaurants, shops and historical places. The staff can be very rude. Don't try to make request to get early and drop your bags because they don't allow it before 3 pm. They offer that you leave your belongings near the check in area but is unlock and therefore isn't safe to me. They close at 10 pm and open at 8 am so we had to open the gate for the car manually and since reception was closed at 7:20 am, I had to leave the keys in the room. Actually the lady came out in the reception area since we were calling via phone and she said we could leave the room keys there in the bar area... which it was very uncomfortable suggestion. Finally, the room had the AC on top of the king bed and we were cold during the night because is too hot for turn off the AC. Is not a good location for the elderly.

State liquor store
Nestled in the charming town of Valladolid, Mexico, Productos Sosa is a family-run distillery with a rich history dating back to the 1800s. This quaint shop specializes in crafting Xtabentun, a delightful honey-based liqueur that captures the essence of local flora. Traditionally made from honey produced by bees visiting the rare Xtabentun plant, this modern version has evolved to use regular honey but still retains its sweet and flavorful charm.
Local spirits. 1/3 the price of all the shops cloaer to town. Delicious Xtabentun and Licor de Nance.

I recommend you buy here. In other places the price is double or triple more expensive.
Jose M — Google review
Wrong information on the operation hours. It says it's open on Saturday til 7pm, we walked quite a distance as we wanted to buy their Xtabentun. Unfortunately, it was closed. I've suggested an update on their Google Maps info based on what's displayed on their premises.

Craft store
Kaxtik Arte Mexicano is a charming store located in the town center near Chichen Itza. Visitors are pleasantly surprised by the high-quality shirts, dresses, and handcrafts that showcase local artisanship. The store offers unique souvenirs and specialties that surpass those found in more expensive shops in Cancun. In addition to artisanal goods, visitors can also purchase delicious chocolates and beautifully packaged coffee.
What a beautiful shop! I came across this shop and bought a couple shirts. I loved them so much I came back to buy gifts for family! They have a wonderful selection of hand embroidered clothing, decor, and other handmade items. The display is lovely and the staff is friendly. This was my favorite shop in Valladolid!
Luci H — Google review
Great looking shop, with agreeable staff. However, we bought a traditional embroidered Mexican women's blouse, which bled color during the first hand wash in cold water. The shop assistant assured us it wouldn’t shrink or bleed. You really have to use poor-quality thread for this to happen. Unfortunately, you can't even trust the shops that look the most reliable... Even buying in a shop with higher price doesn't really mean that you're buying something with quality.
Tiago V — Google review
Beautiful selection of handmade pieces . Colorful and wide assortment of huipil. The quality of the dresses impressive
Linda C — Google review
We came here this last week on our Chichen Itza tour. I am not one to make spur of the moment purchases but this store was amazing! Unfortunately, we were only in the town for 30 minutes and it was not enough! When I came home, I searched online for the store so I can purchase more through their website and am sad to learn that there is no website!! If you change that in the future, please let me know :)
Jane F — Google review
On a rainy day of my Chichen Iza tour, the guide drove us to the town and gave us only 20 mins around the center square. I ran into this store with great pleasant surprise. Shirts, dresses and handcrafts there were extremely well-made. Not the usual kind of souvenirs. Those were local specialties with serious artisanship. Even in some expensive souvenir stores in Cancun, with double of the tag price I didn't see things made as well as in the store. I bought one white shirt with colorful flowers embroiled around the collar and sleeves. I learned later that the owner actually traveled to remote local villages to collect special items for the store. Very impressive! Because of time limit imposed by the guide, I have to leave before looking carefully at more items in store. Wish I had more time in there and could buy more things.
Regina J — Google review
I bought some nice coffee here that was beautifully packaged. But I felt a little uncomfortable being followed all the time by the staff and there did seem to be a slight air of caution with tourists, not sure why.

Market
The Mercado gastronómico y de artesanías de Valladolid is a small market located across the street from the central plaza, offering a variety of local crafts and delicious typical dishes at good prices. It provides an opportunity to explore the traditional attire of Yucatan and sample authentic Yucatecan food. The food establishments around the market offer diverse options for a quick and affordable lunch.
Lots of different places to grab a quick lunch at very reasonable prices

Great food court if you're keen to try all sorts of Mayan food without having to sit down at a restaurant. Place is spacious and feels clean. We had chichinita pibil (marinated pork with rice - super tender, 145 pesos), sopa de lima (lime soup with chicken - comforting, 110 pesos), tacos and tostadas from various stalls and the Mayan dishes in particular hit the spot. The tacos/toastadas however were mediocre. Only gripe is the food is slightly pricey for what should be a cheap and cheerful setting. Toilets are 5 pesos per person.

(Translated by Google) The main gastronomic market of the city of Valladolid is located in the west block to the north (on 40th Street that takes you to Tizimin). It has an unbeatable location which makes it a highly visited site by tourists who come to this city on their way. Inside, a large, illuminated and ventilated space covered by a metal roof made of metal sheets houses commercial businesses selling food and jewelry souvenirs, fine metalwork, clothing, coffee, etc. Food businesses vary in cost and quality, with the one in the back (unfortunately next to the bathrooms) having given the best results. The only real drawback is the smell of the drainage which makes the experience very unpleasant at times (especially if you plan to eat there). The Valladolid sausage is especially a dish to experiment with. Advisable. Recomendable.

Run away from there, for the prices better a good restaurant, even if the food is ugly like in most, when they least serve you and the place is beautiful (Original) Comida horrible y cara, nada que ver con buena gastronomía Yucateca, es un lugar muy comercial para engañar a gringos que vienen en los tours, y tú la haces de mesero también, lo peor la longaniza, es igual a la de una marca comercial que venden en cualquiera tienda, con gran contenido de soya. (Translated by Google) Even though the place is nice and offers a good selection of pieces from Mexican artisans, it is a terrible idea not to put prices on these pieces on display, in addition to being illegal (according to the LFPC in Mexico), wait a moment, go and They give you a price and when you return for something else that you already knew the price, they surprise you with a completely different price (and of greater value) and there is no way to defend the information. Be careful there.
