Very nice Avenue that you can either by walking or by bike. When we went (sunday), the one side of the street was reserved only for bicycle so it was super Nice

The buildings are beautiful, the area is clean and very safe. Some of the architecture is just amazing and romantic.

Sad to see that many historic buildings are now either empty and abandoned or have become a business. I guess there is no other option.

Beautiful road of the city of Merida. Clean and modern, perfect road to walk, run and ride a bike. Many beautiful colonial architectures along the road. At day time not many people are walking because of the sun. Approximately from 6pm, people come out.

Paseo 60 is a vibrant and modern complex located in the heart of Merida, Mexico. Situated between Calle 60 and the iconic Paseo de Montejo, this cultural center offers a diverse range of global dining options set around a lively courtyard. From full dining restaurants like Crabster, Querreke, Mercy, and Teya to a gourmet market with various restaurant stalls for dine-in or takeout at Casa Maquinas, there's something for every palate.
I liked the concept, it has a variety of restaurants, Asian, American, Mexican, etc. Shops and cultural events. It also has historic monuments.

This place is gorgeous!! IPAs and many other beer options on Tap. 3 stories of various shops (most closed) but still beautiful to walk around. Perfect date vibe. Stays cool most of the time because of architecture. Music in most evenings. Outdoor seating.
Christopher H — Google review
It has so much potential and it would be a nice place if the restaurant owners in de mercado gastronomic would to stick to their opening hours. So many times during the day you get there for a late lunch and most counters are closed although Google maps say they should be open. Or food or ice for drinks, is simply not available because they do not stock up. And when it is busy most people bring food from outside, so weird to see Uber eats deliver there instead of collecting orders. The Mercado has a feel it all will collaps pretty soon and everything will close down for good. The outside restaurants are nice and have so much more to offer and they are true to the opening hours listed.
Jeanette — Google review
This location has baby food options compared to actual shopping. There's spa experience available within this complex.
Andrew N — Google review
I love the place, the stores, the restaurants, everything is beautiful, BUT my friends and I were asked to pay $300 pesos per person in order to stay at the table in the courtyard due to some musicians that were about to play music. I visit every year and in the past , there was no charge . I hope that the administration think this over.

Paseo 60 offers everything in a great atmosphere. We were there on a rainy evening, and it couldn't be a better option. There's food for all tastes, and the experience of the Colon sorbets at the end was the cherry on the cake.

The space features a stylish courtyard and offers a variety of experiences, from healthy breakfast options to pre-dinner cocktails. Visitors can explore the collection of designer boutiques, perfumeries, and art galleries showcasing Mexican talent. This multi-concept space highlights Mexico's creative scene and is housed in an architectural monument.
Everything about this place is divine! The building space is beautiful, the shops are excellent, and the food and cocktails are delight. The whole space shows thoughtful presentation and design. For me, shopping here is a bit over budget but I recognize quality when I see it. I purchased something a little small as a treat. I also enjoyed a light lunch that was delicious and reasonably priced. For those without the funds, looking is still wonderful. It’s like an art gallery.have a cocktail in the courtyard and soak in a bit of luxury. It’s worth it.
Narayani H — Google review
A pleasant spot with good food, desserts, and drinks. It’s slightly pricier than others nearby, but the experience and service are worth it. Great for brunch, a date, or a quiet coffee. Shops and galleries with creative designs are also there.
Betsy A — Google review
Amazing place! We enjoyed it to the fullest! Had an amazing brunch, bought some art and perfumes. Top notch products and designs.
Ema K — Google review
Lovely place I love to have breakfast when I’m in Merida. I always thought their avocado toast is the best in town but I have to say that recently, I felt it went a bit downhill, probably for the low quality bread they use. The waitress are really nice. The place remains a good place to spend some time and to work from a computer. Expensive for what it delivers. The quality is average!
Federica — Google review
Well, Mérida is definitely hot and humid — but at Casa Tho, it was a nightmare. We went this morning for breakfast, and while the place itself is beautiful, the experience was very disappointing. We asked them to turn on the fans, but they said there was no electricity — quite odd for such a nice establishment. Service was terrible and breakfast was just okay. It took over an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen, and another 20 minutes just to get the check. Overall, I do not recommend this place. Beautiful setting, but the service and organization were unacceptable.
Alejandro Z — Google review
We've had two lunches here, and we've loved both. The first day we had the avocado an salmon toasts. The next day, I had the tuna tartare and my wife had the spicy ca rrot soup. Everything was excellent. It has a lovely quiet atmosphere, similar to old Singapore (the weather is so similar). The margarita was probably one of the best I've ever had.
Mike T — Google review
You must stop by this place for a divine meal and artisanal shopping. We had some cute cocktails and bites including the arancini and the sandwich made with bacon , grilled pineapple, Gruyère. The stores include an art gallery a carla Fernandez store with amazing clothes and a number of other boutiques including a jewelry spot and some home furnishings

Dulcería y Sorbetería Colón is a historic 110-year-old parlor located at Paseo de Montejo 479. It offers a variety of sweet treats, including soft meringues and seasonal sorbets like peach, tamarind, and sapote. The place is known for blending Yucatán peninsula crops into its desserts, with top flavors being mamey fruit, coconut, and guanabana (soursop).
Delicious treat on our hot walk home. My daughter ate the Mango without coming up for air. Hubs and I had Montecado and elote, and the boy had chocolate. They were all amazingly refreshing and delicious. Service was very helpful and attentive. We will be back to try more!

1st time here, and what a welcome treat to cool you off. Beautiful flavors and amazing vibe. It was not too expensive and a wonderful treat. I had the corn sorbet, and others had the watermelon sorbet. Can't wait to go back.

If you like fruit sorbets which are the perfect level of sweetness, this place is for you. We went back twice and had to try all of the flavours.

Great place to cool down after a short walk (I want to cool down after every walk in this weather). Prices are more than reasonable and the staff is super nice and attentive! Would definitely recommend!
Vlad — Google review
I really don't understand how is that in Merida where the income is quite low an waterbased 🍨,could cost almost 8 usd per scoop. whoever is familiar with a Concrete in the Midwest (USA) could have an idea of what to compare with. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place anymore. NOTE, is not about the price is more about the cost-beneffit os this product. Not worth it.
J. G — Google review
Loved this place! Area is nice and the outside seating is great. The workers are super friendly and on top of it, the ice-cream is tasty.

The place was excellent. The location was great. We loved the ice cream and the sorbets . The coconut ice cream was Divine. The mantecada shake was amazing. The place is well decorated and the service was also excellent. The entertainment was fine. I am glad that I tried it . I loved it I would totally recommend it. I don't know why is the 4.5 it should be a 5.0.I really recommend it. It was a good recommendation.

Park
Parque de Santa Lucía, located in central Merida, is a vibrant hub of cultural and nightlife activities. The park hosts the Yucatecan Serenade, an open-air dance with live music that has been a weekly tradition since 1965. On Friday and Saturday nights, locals gather in the square for salsa dancing. While the area can get noisy at times, it's a great spot for those looking to immerse themselves in Merida's lively bar and cantina scene.
Nice place to go and have something to eat. Streets are full of shops on the way. Locals are using the area for different celebrations / festivals so worth popping around specially when you hear music
Orsolya N — Google review
By the work "park" I imagine a lot of greenery, trees and benches to relax on, but there is almost none of that in this park. It's more like a small square with three palm trees and restaurants. What's interesting here are two huge white benches (or more like chairs) that you can sit on if you are able to climb them. However, if you are in luck, you may see the Yucatecan Serenade - an open-air dance with live music - taking place in this park every week. I imagine this event is what makes this park interesting.
Cyntia P — Google review
City park in the historic center of the city. The park has GINORMOUSgossip chairs, the white chairs that face opposite directions for lovers to kiss or gossip to share information. The park is surrounded by restaurants. Once a week there is a city sponsored concert in the park. Get there early to sign a seat for the singing and dancing. The park is easy to get two of you are visiting in the center or the historic center of the city, or a quick Uber ride from the outside of the center. This is a lovely park, but it is just a park. The oldest park in the city of Merida
Begona C — Google review
There’s often events going on at this park, like traditional music and dances. This is an iconic little park in the heart of Merida, so it’s a must visit if you are around the area. The place captures the Mexican culture and colors.
Fauna — Google review
Great plaza a few blocks away from downtown with lots of places to sit and restaurant around the park. Don't miss sitting on the large chairs and get your picture taken. In the evenings there is usually live music.
Alexa B — Google review
Beautiful park just blocks from centro. If you're staying on the north side, you can walk past this park every time you're heading to the city center. The park is shaded by beautiful trees, and has 4 restaurants with outdoor seating to relax in the shade. Tucked in the corner is Ki'Xocolatl - authentic Yucatan chocolate that is a must visit, and the perfect place to get some gifts for friends and family when you get back home. Also Grab a few photos at the Sillas gigantes (giant kissing chairs) or wait to get those down in the centro by the Merida sign. One of the favorite things we did was the free walking tour with Gabriel that starts here. This is a great way to see the highlights of the city, the history and a few of Gabriel's favorite places all in 2 hours. Please take my word for it - do this on your first day and you'll feel like you got the insider tour - https://www.freewalkingtourmerida.mx/. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, Yucatecan Serenade, an open-air dance with live music, has been held weekly on Thursday night at 9:00 pm since 1965 right here (now you know what the stadium bench seating is for). Please take my word for it... this is the place to be on Thursday. Locals and travelers alike attend this event and it is always amazing and it is always busy. Get there at 8:00 pm (or earlier) to get a seat at this free event, because it is the place to be! The regional music was played by a full band, and some of the songs were accompanied by traditional dancers. You don't want to miss this on your visit!
Eric M — Google review
This park is full of joy. I went there for the Thursday local dance show which starts at 9 p.m.. The people there are in a really good mood, they are chilling, talking, laughing and just enjoying their time there. Come around 8 to 8.30, find a nice spot to sit. Bring snacks or buy some of the many locals selling snacks, water, coke or buy some food from the food stalls or many restaurants.
Michael — Google review
Great place to hangout. Several restaurants, little pricey but good food everywhere. Make sure you ask if there are discounts, we got our drinks half price at the Soberana patio.

La Isla Mérida is a shopping center located within the Cabo Norte residential development, featuring architecture and concept similar to Plaza la Isla in Cancun. The mall offers department stores, exclusive brands, a beautiful lake for various activities, green areas, and a wide variety of restaurants and family entertainment zones such as cinemas, playgrounds, and an auditorium. With over 70,000 square meters of space, it provides an eco-friendly environment for continuous hours of fun.
This mall has so many activities, great food, shopping and entertainment. I spent the afternoon watching people enjoying water sports, rock climbing, and lots of shopping as well as enjoying great food. Lots of different shops some brands from all over the world. I also noticed it was pet friendly another plus for this mall.
Travel R — Google review
The mall is almost as hot as outside. Just as humid. Better off at Altabrisa or Galerias.
Nick V — Google review
Very nice mall with a good selection of high quality stores. I especially like the waterfront area in the back and the underground parking.
Laurel S — Google review
One of the best malls in Mérida. Has a beautiful lake out back, the Liverpool is huge and has a great selection of international imported goods. The wife enjoys Muy Mucho because is has cute stuff there quite often the Zara home is great for nice niche items also. Only thing La Isla is missing is good food.. the restaurants there are pretty mediocre to be honest. Tatemar was the last good restaurant there and they closed up and moved south of the periferico.
Connor S — Google review
The nicest, high end mall in Merida. Massimo Dutti is one of my favorites.. Very happy they are here. You can also go water skiing!

Grocery store
Mercado San Benito is a bustling market located in Merida, offering a wide variety of goods and local products. The market features snack stands with fresh fruits, vegetables, regional spices, and household items. One can also find taquerias serving authentic Yucatecan dishes like the traditional tamal colado. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by live music and local ambiance.
Situated adjacent to the bustling Mercado Lucas Galvez, this market is a haven for meat and poultry enthusiasts. It’s a haven for carnivores, and a hell for vegans… The extensive selection includes every part of the animal, catering perfectly to those who embrace a “nose-to-tail” philosophy of eating. From nutrient-rich organs to cuts of chicken and beef, the variety is both impressive and inviting. After an initial visit, I’m eager to return for chicken, beef liver, and other specialty meats. The market’s offerings don’t stop at meat; the neighboring sections are equally vibrant, featuring an array of fresh produce and an impressive lineup of restaurants and small food vendors. The dishes on display are visually stunning and temptingly diverse. Additionally, I discovered a few shops selling incense—a personal find I’ve been seeking for some time. This market encapsulates a dynamic blend of culinary and cultural treasures, making it a must-visit destination for food lovers and shoppers alike.
Gilbert S — Google review
You may say this market is dirty, but it was a great experience to be in the local market in Merida. I loved to see the chilli, fresh fruits, and vegetables.
Rita — Google review
This market lived up to my expectations, both high and low. There is a curious mix of things and food for sale. The things are colourful and cheap for the most part. Plastic stuff in every shape and colour. Plastic toys, costume jewellery and religious icons and ephemera. Electronics and parts. Clothing for literally cents on the dollar, but nothing I could wear. Size being the problem. I was more interested in the potential for prepared food and refreshments. My expectations were realized in terms of the plenty, however there was no way I was prepared to take a chance on some of these places. I'm not suggesting that the vendors were dirty or lacking in skill in the kitchen. Just a bit outside my comfort zone in terms of my notions of hygiene. Having said this, I did enjoy a few foods and suffered no I'll effects. My concerns were further belayed after a food tour through here the following day. Treat this place as a combination museum and fun house as a tourist. But keep in mind that it is a serious, integral part of community life here in Merida.
Peter — Google review
The real deal! If you’re used to local Mexico living this is your kind of place, 99% local, actually we saw only locals, but this is where it all happens, best food, best local experience, get your Spanish ready you’re going to need it! My kind of place, friendly, helpful, enjoyable. Can’t wait to go back! Prices are great, the meat market is huge!
Cliff I — Google review
Mercado San Benito isn’t just a market—it’s an experience. It’s big, it’s bustling, and it’s got everything. Think of it as the Costco or Super Walmart of regional markets, attached to Mercado Lucas de Gálvez. Walk out of Galvez, and boom—you’re in Benito. This place is a maze of vendors selling fruit next to shoes, next to tacos, next to cell phones. Not a flea market (everything’s new), but it’s got that chaotic, treasure-hunt vibe. Feeling hungry? Don’t hesitate—food here is clean, delicious, and dirt cheap. Pro tip: The market is huge and organized by sections—candy with candy, shoes with shoes, butchers with butchers. It can feel overwhelming, but everyone’s polite, and the prices? Unreal. Must-tries: Cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork heaven) and a Jamaica juice (refreshing hibiscus drink). you can visit every day and barely scratch the surface! I was fascinated by the people watching as for the food and offerings. I hope you enjoy!!
Begona C — Google review
Mercado San Benito in Merida, Mexico, is a vibrant marketplace that offers an impressive array of fresh fruits, vegetables, regional spices, and household goods at fantastic prices. The lively atmosphere is complemented by the friendly vendors who showcase the region's rich culinary heritage. For the best selection and a more leisurely shopping experience, I recommend visiting early in the day, close to opening hours. It's a delightful destination for those seeking quality produce and local flavors in a charming setting.
Luminosity — Google review
Great market to buy produce, clothes etc. I visited the vegetable and fruit stalls.

Huge, authentic market, almost only locals. Very cheap prices. You will find almost everything: Meat, vegetables, fruit, spices, shoes, clothes, hardware, animals... . Craftsmen repair phones, shoes and jewelry. Taco-Factories. Lots of places to eat cheap, local food. All the Hustle and Bustle a market needs!

The plaza offers a variety of fashion stores, restaurants, a cinema, casino, gym, and more. Visitors can enjoy popular brands like H&M, Zara, Bershka and Oysho along with department store Liverpool.
Excellent mall with a wide variety of shopping to suit most peoples needs. I would consider this mall to be an upscale shopping experience for locals and middle class for Americans. The shops are clean, compliment one another well, all staff are very helpful (with the exception of the gentleman money exchange who was brash and one young lad at Ki' Xocolatl who made fun of my gringo pronunciation - to be fair it isn't great, but his actions were uncalled for). As an added caveat, several cars are on display within the mall and their respective company representatives are on site should you have any questions or want to see inside. Security is present and always vigilant making for a secure feeling.

Galerías Mérida is a beautiful and modern shopping center that offers a pleasant experience. Its air conditioning provides a welcome escape from the Merida heat. A unique and fun feature is the ice skating rink located right in the middle of the mall, offering entertainment for all ages. You'll find a wide variety of local and international brands for shopping. It's a great place to spend a few hours, whether you're looking to shop, grab a bite to eat, or enjoy a bit of ice skating. The overall atmosphere is inviting and contemporary.

It's a mall. But unlike American malls, this one is relevant and busy. A wide variety of stores is available. The food court is small but excellent. The vendors they have chosen complement each other, so there is something for everyone. I had lunch at Arcade. The burger was presented well and tasted excellent. My little one had a ham and cheese quesadilla. After lunch we went to ride the train, then off to the trampoline park (her favorite place). We've already been back several times for the trampolines. Great mall. :)

Mall with an open air ice rink. Not something I thought I’d see in Mexico let alone Merida. Was quite beautiful watching the figure skaters practice.

Omg I love this mall. It has pretty much everything from arcade, gym, you can get a high class facial. The food court has end less food options. Great for solo trips, family outings oh not to mention the skating rink. I will be back.

Nice mall to wall around and get some food at. I have been here at Christmas a few times also, and it's always nicely decorated. Also has a casino attached, and a skating rink
Casey L — Google review
We love this mall. All the usual stores and some you wouldn’t expect. The ice rink is always fun to see. When you want to find something that you can find at any other H&M or Aerie, go here. We like stopping at the Chilis for a marg after shopping as well. A little shopping tradition. Also super convenient that Costco is right across the street.

Lovely store with an array of products, all made by artisans in Mexico. I took with me 8 handmade bull horn napkin holders that I will cherish and pass on to someone when it’s time. They have home decor, clothing, accessories, and so many other handmade gorgeous products. The price might be a bit elevated for some but the quality and craftsmanship reflects that.

Amazing store with an array of products. From clothing, to ceramics, and art. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone, even the little ones (if you have them). My partner and I really enjoyed taking our time to browse because there’s a lot to see. Their stuff is reasonably priced and we really had to restrain ourselves because of limited luggage space. One thing I wish they had when I was there and didn’t, an axolotol hat (which I collect), apparently they were sold out of them and only had kids sizes. I guess it’s an excuse for me to come back next time I’m in Mérida. They packaged the glass vase we purchased very well, so you don’t have to go scrambling for bubble tape else where. I always love that attention to detail. Workers were very helpful without being on top of you, which I also appreciate. Can’t wait to come back!

This was my favorite shopping experience in Merida. The staff was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of the designers and pieces. The shop was filled with Mexican designers and a few international. The selection was curated perfectly for the area with lots of bright colors and light weight fabrics. I got the Deluxe Exfoliation package with a relaxing massage at the Spa and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Tonia was amazing. She asked questions about my problem areas and really paid special attention to them. Overall, it was an amazing experience because of Tonia!

Thank you for a lovely stay at Rosas y Xocolate. Our room was right next to the pool which felt like a real treat, as we could enjoy the peaceful atmosphere just off the bustle of the Main Street. Even though there were 3 of us in the room it felt like there was plenty of space, with a separate bedroom and lounge. The staff were friendly and attentive, and patient with me trying to practise my Spanish. We really enjoyed the complementary breakfast, including a hot drink, juice, pastry, and an option from the extensive menu. I would particularly recommend the smoked salmon bagel. The location was perfect, about a 20 minute walk to the main square but lots to see closer too. This was a perfect start to our trip across the peninsula and would recommend Rosas to anyone considering a trip to Merida.
Lynsey B — Google review
My stay at Rosas & Xocolate Boutique Hotel and Spa in Mérida was a delightful experience that left a lasting impression, thanks to its unique charm and warm hospitality. Nestled in the heart of Mérida, this boutique hotel stands out with its breathtaking architecture and distinctive style. The fusion of colonial elegance with bold pink and chocolate-hued accents creates a visually striking ambiance that feels both luxurious and whimsical. Every corner of the property, from the lush courtyard to the meticulously designed rooms, showcases a thoughtful blend of modern sophistication and Yucatecan heritage. The attention to detail in the decor—think vibrant tiles, artisanal touches, and elegant furnishings—makes it a haven for anyone who appreciates aesthetic excellence. The staff at Rosas & Xocolate deserves high praise for their friendliness and professionalism. From the moment I arrived, they were welcoming, attentive, and eager to ensure my stay was comfortable. Whether it was offering recommendations for exploring Mérida’s vibrant cultural scene or accommodating special requests, their service added a personal touch that elevated the entire experience. The on-site amenities, including the spa and the restaurant, further enhanced my stay. The restaurant, in particular, served up delicious dishes that beautifully blended local flavors with a gourmet twist, making every meal a treat. However, there was one peculiar aspect of my stay that stood out for the wrong reasons: the hotel’s deposit policy. Upon checking in, they charge a deposit, which is fairly standard, but by the end of the stay, they retain a single cent from the refund. This practice felt odd and unnecessary, and it’s something I haven’t encountered at any other hotel I’ve stayed at worldwide. While it’s a minor amount and didn’t significantly detract from the experience, it left me puzzled and slightly annoyed, as it seemed like an unusual quirk for an otherwise polished establishment.Overall, Rosas & Xocolate is a fantastic choice for travelers seeking a boutique hotel with character, style, and heart in Mérida. The stunning architecture, exceptional staff, and unique vibe make it a standout. If you can overlook the odd deposit practice, this hotel is well worth a visit for a memorable stay in the Yucatán. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a blend of luxury and local charm!

This is a really charming hotel in a renovated mansion on a beautiful avenue. I stayed in the master suite - it was bright and airy, had massively high ceilings, was comfortable and spotless. (I did get an upgrade and for those of you with Bonvoy status, the staff did a great job of recognizing and valuing me throughout my weeklong stay. They were helpful, courteous and attentive) Crisiant, the Sales Manager, was particularly helpful. He contacted me promptly after my booking to assist with spa appointments and suggesting and arranging excursions. His assistance was valuable in planning my visit, as I had done little to no research before booking. The hotel's location is convenient for exploring the city. Paseo de Montejo is beautiful, offered a good base for walking to many city attractions and experiencing the local area. There are so many really good restaurants and shops in easy walking distance. It's a really great choice for a more than comfortable stay in Mérida.

I came for the food and dispute all of the less than 5 star reviews, I still went. I have to say the food was fantastic!! I got the Eggs Benedict and the chef did not disappoint!!! From the perfect hollandaise and poached egg to the mimosa...Fantastic!! The service was also top shelf. I was afraid to try the coffee because of all the bad reviewers who complained about the coffee, food and service but I'll definitely try it the next time I go back. If the coffee is the only thing that some people gave bad reviews, I'll skip it!
Rodney H — Google review
We always stop by here to get their pear salad. The other food was very good as well.
Terry B — Google review
I've always had a rather ambivalent regard for the Pet Shop Boys. Whilst their tunes are undeniably catchy their lyrics often humorous and clever they are equally often let down by a rather laboured rhyme or a clichéd phrase. However, I've often found myself quoting the line from the song Left to My Own Devices that states "...learn to ignore what the photographer saw" and that's what you need to do at Rosas and Xocolate. Rarely has a website been so misleading. See photos. There certainly aren't any Roses and no Chocolate either 😕 😄 But let's start with the positives. The hotel staff are accommodating and polite (special mention for the breakfast server Sophie) with a comprehensive breakfast menu of decent quality and the location is very good. That's it. Now the reasons I wouldn't return. In general the hotel is unloved and poorly maintained. On arrival, the lobby had a large broken glass candle holder, the corridor had dirty glasses on the floor that remained untouched for over 24 hours and our room (the Master Suite) was tired and inadequately maintained. On arrival, the power shorted, the toilet leaked (this was fixed) the coffee maker didn't work (this too was fixed - but by turning off the refrigerator) and the bed linen faded and poor quality. The breakfast courtyard was dirty and unswept and the windows generally needed a good clean. The overall feel was one of decline and neglect which is unforgiveable in any establishment but given the prices being charged it almost amounts to theft. Read my other reviews; you'll see I'm not given to unnecessary criticism nor over reaction to a single incident of  bad service. There's another lyric from the Pet Shop Boys song Shopping that goes "...our gain is your loss, that's the price you pay". This might just sum up the Rosas and Xocolate experience. P.S. I'm honestly not a big Pet Shop Boys fan.

Bodega Mercado Lucas De Galvez is a bustling and expansive market where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, sample new foods, and take in the vibrant atmosphere. The market offers an array of local eats, from watching tortilla-making to traditional regional dish cochinita pibil. Visitors can explore the market with a local chef to learn more about its traditional foods. The market is known for its fresh produce and diverse offerings at affordable prices.
An amazing Mexican market experience. There are sections (shoes, clothes, meats, veg) where multiple vendors have stalls. For your first time, go early in the morning before everyone is open. By the time you've wandered through and (somewhat) gotten your bearings, you can do it all again and see a whole new selection of vendors that have opened up. Nothing has prices. Speaking Spanish and being kind helps, but the gringo tax is quite prevalent. We were also followed closely by some stall associates when we went in to browse, which put us off of those particular stores. Don't miss the recados. The vendors will often let you sample theirs and no two are exactly alike. Sanitation is nowhere near USA standards. If that's not your jam, then stay out of the live animal and the meat markets (and probably the prepared foods, too).

You never know what you might discover buying local produce direct from the growers, or shoes made in Merida by local craftsmen. Take some time to wander about the market and learn about the different areas of concentration of types of things being sold. I found a great place to get my shoes repaired, knives sharpened, spice jars filled and lots of artisanal foods including cheese.

Santa Ana Market is a must-visit spot in Merida, located near the iconic Paseo de Montejo. It offers a wide variety of Yucatecan street food, including panuchos, lime soup, turkey salbutes, papadzules, cochinita pibil, lechon, and queso relleno. The market also hosts tianguis and gastronomic demonstrations in the nearby park.
Very few people mention the fact that there is a market indoors here, open every day from 7 am until 2 pm, with produce stalls, a meat vendor, a tortillería (makes fresh corn tortillas, and also sells eggs), and several other stalls that sell miscellaneous spices, hot sauces, juices, etc. When I stay in the neighborhood just south of the restaurants on Calle 47, I come here for my fresh fruits and vegetables. It's easy to miss the entrances, but you should check it out. The marchantes are friendly, the quality is good, the variety is limited but typical. It's a small version of what you find at the Mercado de Santiago (my favorite market) or the wonderful, massive central market (Lucas de Gálvez). Given the scarcity of produce and grocery stores east and southeast of Santa Ana, this was a real find for me!

Came on a Sunday around 11am. Easy to find a parking spot right outside for free (not considering the tip for the gentleman). It was a bit overwhelming once the waiters began to yell very aggress for us to check out their menu and competing against each other. But it stopped as soon as I chose one of the many outstretched menus held out at us. The waiter was very helpful and friendly. We chose FRUTI-LUNCH. The menu had a great variety plus nice fresh drinks. We ordered the tacos cochinita, panuchos cochinita, empanadas con carne y queso and one tamal. To drink, we ordered one litre each of mango agua fresca and a mix of mango and pineapple aguafresca. Every order was good and tasty and we were satisfied (2 adults and 2 children) for a total of $505pesos. I thought that was pretty good! We had a few people approach us at our table while waiting for our food and we welcomed it as we actually were interested in the items. One was selling hammocks, another handmade pine fans and another handmade bracelets. They were a bit pushy but budged easily and quickly on the prices. We got a beautiful hammock ($650 pesos) and a fan that smells so nice and is very pretty($100pesos). Sorry about the half eaten food photos, we couldn’t help but dig in before I got some snaps in! That’s first part of our experience was great. The second was disappointing as we expected the place to be full of vendors but most were closed with only about five open. And the bathroom visit was not great either. We had to pay $5pesos pp to use the washroom and they give you a little bit of paper and there are no toilet seats. So once I used the paper for my young one to sit on, there wasn’t enough for her #2! But we figured it out with some leftover napkins in my bag. If I know that it gets busier on another day with all the vendors open, I would give it another try.
Melissa C — Google review
This market used to be one of my favorite spots — it had affordable prices, good food, and everything was always kept neat. Unfortunately, things have changed or at least I have seen decline since the beginning. The quality of the food is no longer the same, and it feels like the staff is too tired or overwhelmed to keep the place tidy. For a local market, the prices are now on the high side, which makes it hard to justify coming back as often as before. It’s disappointing to see the decline because it really used to be a great place.
Liz C — Google review
Along most streets after 7:00 pm these energetic people pedal through if there is nice weather or not. The fresh goodies are worth running to the door for. The (pan) bread absolutely wonderful, soft, often oven warm and very economical. No need to go to the market and walk home in the heat. Not usually delivered on Sunday or Monday nights in some zones. When you catch the delivery person ask what nights are available. Once they know you are interested they will often slow and honk the hand operated bicycle horn louder. Please attempt to enjoy this home delivery service it is worth the effort. For 12 years we have enjoyed many of the delivery people in a multitude of housing locations throughout Merida. Enjoy.
Robert S — Google review
Loved it here - authentic Yucatan food, the waiters really try to win you, the juices are delicious and the prices are fantastic. Much better food than some of the up-scaled restaurants that are close to pretentious rather than being authentic.
Zhana K — Google review
We arrived to merida and went there 1st day. BIG mistake. For a street market food is VERY EXPENSIVE!!! And barely decent. When u arrive you have all these guys hustling you to seat in their section/food court. For 2 aguas frescas and 2 meals we paid around 450 pesos! In our last day we went to La Chaya Maya, a few blocks from the market. La Chaya is a tipical yucateca food situated in an old hacienda downtown with the best...literally beat local food in merida, amazing service and well served portions (lots of cochinita in each taco) and girls what? Half (yes, 1/2) the price. Avoid the market, GO to la Chaya Maya if you want the best food, place, service and overall experience!

It is place, where you can get souvenirs and give a chance to loc gastronomy. You can find “panuchos”, “tamales”, “salbutes” and more delicatessens. Mérida is well known, actually the entire state of Yucatán, for its “Cochinita Pibil”, where this dish saw the light for first time, many years ago. Enjoy this must, eat and walk in to the shops.

For me, the best flat white and the best cortado in town! Just the right flavor and an intense but not bitter or sour taste, milk alternatives are also available (oat milk). Totally recommend it! The nice add-on is the selection of board games that can be played for free while enjoying a coffee and a pastry.

One of the best cafe here. Nice location, lots of books (there are not a lot of cafes that are book themed in Merida as far as I know), reasonable price, and good jugo del dia. Def will come back

Found this cafe on Google Maps when we had to kill time before checking into a room and it couldn't have been better - delicious coffee, air conditioning, and wifi. We had a flat white and cappuccino frio and both were very good!

Love this place! Excellent coffee and very friendly staff and owners. The avocado toast is perfect. The owners let me borrow their one copy of The Catcher in the Rye for my trip to Tulum. Now we all know people never return borrowed books! Because of their kindness, I most certainly will return it at the end of the month and visit wherever I’m in Mérida!

What a gem 💎 of a place. Such nice people and staff and so inviting. The food quality is tops. The atmosphere is so relaxing and inviting. We could easily spend an afternoon just enjoying great food and books to read from their accumulated library. Our complete to this establishment as it all comes together for a wonderful and appetizing experience.😋

Fabulous oasis in centro district. They have books for sale as well as plenty of room for a meeting, coffee date, or to study/work. Their coffee is delicious and their food is fresh and yummy. Good spot for a sandwich + salad.

I have visited here on several occasions and have always enjoyed each visit. A nice, quiet and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy great breakfast items and a wide selection of hot and cold coffees, teas, etc. The amazing yogurt parfait, fresh fruit and yogurt, is my favorite along with their delicious variety of cookies. Waffles are highly enjoyable as well. Highly recommended...

Nestled in the heart of the city, Crafts Bazar García Rejón is a vibrant hub for anyone seeking authentic Yucatecan crafts and clothing. Located between Calle 56-A and 65, this bustling market has been a staple since its establishment in 1862. Here, you can explore an array of handmade goods including traditional garments, jewelry, hammocks, and unique items crafted from henequen.
Excellent Bazaar to buy local goods and overall find better prices than those offered by the stores selling to tourists in downtown, find clothing, shoes, hats.... just venture and get an idea of prices here before shopping anywhere else.
Carlos G — Google review
Mostly crafts on sale here, prices are good and you'll find variety according to budget, but this place have another area for local food. Try the "Punto y Coma" place at the end of central corridor. This place closes earlier than others so don't came here by sunset or later.

A great experience and opportunity to mis with the local population. There are some hidden gems to find amongst the electronics, perfume and cosmetics vendors. I appreciated the blend of old and new products along with food to eat or carry home . There are lots of vendors selling fresh fruit and sweets along the streets around the market. Its not the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul, but has a similar vibe.

One of the best places to earn typical Yucatecan garments, Huraches and easily one of the top local street food places. RULES!!

Great selection of fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, beef, pork and chicken. Lots of lical food kiosks at great prices. Especiallt recommend Tony's juice bar.

A very big market, although a bit disorganized with mixed products. If you are patient you will find what you are looking for. We went on a Saturday, before noon and many, many people. I think it is a must see in Merida Food, condiments, artesans, even live animals. All the people are nice nice and will explain what they are selling. They will even give you recipies for the food or condiments they sell, if you enjoy the local food, like me.
Danson T — Google review
Super local place, if you want to eat local food from mérida this is it, you will find perfect souvenirs, typically clothes and so much food.

This is such a beautiful gallery! It gathers together all the great symbolism of Mexican culture in a beautiful courtyard building with a terrace and cafe. You can buy some great pieces or simply enjoy the view!

Looking to spend a few hours in an art gallery and sitting in a cafe; this is your place. So much colour and numerous artisanal items to purchase. Even household items like a coffe tray or jewelry box is handmade. I don't believe it is possible to walk out empty handed.

Beautiful and well worth checking out!! If only to take some photos and admire the artistry. Very pleasant staff and the blue iguana cafe has good coffee and smoothes.
Aleksandra S — Google review
Very small but has beautiful products. The gentleman was super friendly and helpful and very passionate about the items. He answered all of our questions and liked to tell us about the art. We asked about the washroom and he walked us to it and opened the door for us. Then we went into the room with all the handcrafted puzzles and he was very patient as we chose the items we purchased. It was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend popping in if you are in the area.

Don’t bother going anywhere else, I can’t recommend highly enough!! The most incredible, curated selection of artisan handy craft and art I’ve seen in Mexico. Beautiful jewellery of different styles from traditional to contemporary. Finely painted Alebrijes (animal carvings), intricate ceramic pieces, plus many more items. The pieces are by specific artisans (and signed) or from Mexican brands. Compared to the other artisan shops on the near streets the quality is exceptional and the prices in many cases less. I found cheap souvenir shops selling small Alebrijes for the same or up to twice the price - the quality no where near as good. The staff are lovely, Carolina helped us telling us all about the artists and the different traditional crafts. A big difference to the other shops where they pressure and harass you. 10/5 stars

Fantastic art!! One of my favorite galleries. You can find wide variety crafts from large art pieces to ceramics and jewelry. I loved the human size Día de los Muertos skulls. Absolutely magnificent pieces or art.

Probably the most beautiful cafe/art gallery I've ever visited. Everything on display is mesmerizing to the eye. The bright white walls serve as a canvas to so many beautiful pieces and everything is available for purchase. The coffee is exquisite. I came with my fiancé and we ordered two lattes. It was definitely the best I'd ever had, and I've had many lattes in my life 😊. If I'm ever in Merida I will definitely have coffee here a few times. If you're ever in Merida, you have to go, sit and have a cup of coffee. I could sit there for hours. Also the service was excellent and they are very, very nice people taking care of the place.

A very pleasant mall. Pet friendly and has an indoor play area (as I am starting to see is customary in many places in Mexico. The food is good. The people are nice. All the facilities are CLEAN! And there was a violinist playing center court.

One of our favorite malls in Merida. I am obsessed with Caruso and they have two! Also the C&A is great upstairs. We haven’t had any of the food here but seems to be quite a few options. Also it’s very close to Boston’s Pizza so we just walk there when we visit this mall. Other great features are a full restaurant on the first floor, Soriana, Sears!

It is a big shopping mall in Mérida. We went here to have dinner. We found it difficult to find the entrance for the parking. So, we parked our car a bit far from the mall. It has many stores and service businesses. Entrance accessible for wheelchairs. Free wifi inside the mall but it was slow. In some parts, it looks like the mall is empty. It has a food court on the top floor.

Costco Wholesale Mérida is a members-only warehouse located outside the city center, offering a wide range of products including bulk groceries and electronics. It's recommended to have private transportation to reach this location. The store provides friendly customer service with English-speaking staff and offers a variety of items not found elsewhere. Customers praise the quality of fresh produce at lower prices compared to local markets and supermarkets.
Not a Costco shopper, but I needed to get some new frames for my son's glasses, and Costco was where he bought them. Certainly paid less than Canada, so was totally worth it. Not surprised to see this place was a zoo with long lines. It's the same no matter which Costco I've been to in any country. My wife is the Costco shopper, not me.
Robert S — Google review
The world's only Costco with a Cenote. They have freshly made donuts, Mexican ready to eat food and they sell motorcycles, but apart from everyone speaking Spanish it is indistinguishable from every other Costco in North America. Every Costco should be forced to have a local products aisle.
Ricky N — Google review
It is like a Costco in the States, items come and go, items get moved around, many items you have to buy in two or large quantities. You have to shop around as items often are expensive or more expensive than other stores especially electronics, computers, printers etc. I like shopping for certain favorites and the Ruta Maya Cafe Organico is the best tasting medium roast in the whole bean that I have found in Merida. I tried a lot of local roasters too!
Roger C — Google review
Getting expensive and often crowded, but a great place to buy many popular items all in the same place. Parking is sometimes crazy with people parking in areas they shouldn't just to be closer to the entrance. I think the city could support a second location.
L R — Google review
Had an eye exam & new glasses made at Costco. The prescription is perfect, and the no line bifocales are fantastic. My Spanish isn't great, but I was able to make it through the exam only using my translator app for a few really tricky questions. The quality of the frames with anti-glare and anti-scratch lenses at this price! It was a pleasant shock! Dr. Jesus - Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to make sure my prescription is perfect!
Carra — Google review
The service in the store is excelent. But the service in the tire center is horrible 3 tire technician make one I'll make it faster with just basic tools.. they just need that little push up to be more efficient and dont make clients wait more then what they said... They told 2 hours 15 min I ended waiting close to 4 hours.. almost 4 Hours for just one tire replaced and do a rotation and the other three.. 3 guys working in a single car..😆

The Harbor Lifestyle Mall in Merida is a modern and stylish complex offering a wide array of shops, international dining options, and a cinema. It's an ideal destination for shopping, leisurely strolls, and enjoying sunsets in its spacious outdoor areas. The mall also houses the offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, providing passport services. While some stores are vacant, there are still plenty of interesting shops to explore.
It's an amazing mall! It isn't full as other malls nearby but have it's magic. The cinema is amazing, and the music is played very nicely, the outside walk is surrounded by many restaurants and bars perfect for a walk! Now the downside is that it's a little bit empty, also the floor and public chairs look old but I get this can be changed shortly! I recommend going to eat there because have amazing restaurants!
José N — Google review
The Harbor offers a spacious and airy environment, with wide corridors, high ceilings, and plenty of natural light. The design encourages leisurely strolls, making it not just a place for shopping but also for socializing. The inclusion of outdoor dining areas near the lake, along with terraces for relaxation, amplifies the sense of space. The mall's structure is intended to be more than just retail; it's a lifestyle center where one can spend an entire day enjoying various activities. In essence, The Harbor in Mérida combines the allure of major anchor tenants like Gran Chapur and Cinépolis with a selection of popular dining options, all set within an architecturally thoughtful space that celebrates both modernity and local culture. This makes it a significant destination for both residents of Mérida and visitors looking for a comprehensive shopping and leisure experience.

Really attractive shopping mall with good air con making it an ideal escape from the hot weather. There are quite a lot of empty shops, but there are some interesting ones. Lots of lovely figures scattered around the place. The outside area by the water is also very attractive. Nice place for a coffee or meal. Love the thought that has gone into the place providing a clean up station for visitors to clear up from “accidents” and also the recycling box for batteries. The toilets are also modern and clean.

The Home Depot Canek is a prominent home improvement retailer located in the northern part of Merida, Mexico. This expansive store offers an impressive selection of tools, appliances, and materials for all your DIY projects. While it may differ from its counterparts in the U.S. and Canada—especially regarding return policies—it still provides a great shopping experience. Visitors will find a clean environment with well-organized displays, particularly in flooring and tiling sections.
** Home Depot Mexico is not the same as in US or Canada; even if you buy an item online, it *must* be returned to the store that you selected/purchased from. The system is not interchangeable. I learned this today after visiting the *other* Home Depot in Merida. A great experience with this store. It took a while to understand how to deal with my issue (defective product), but that's because my Spanish is very limited. Anna and Ermilo, both of whom speak English, were fantastic and helpful in explaining and processing my return/exchange. I'm very appreciative of their willingness to speak to me in English to help find a resolution. The store, itself, is clean and spacious. It's well-stocked and not very busy.

Miguel Alemán market is a clean and organized local market known for its fresh produce, meats, and Yucatecan snacks like kibis. It's less crowded than other markets, making it a great place for tourists to enjoy breakfast or snacks while experiencing local life. The neighborhood reflects German influence and offers a wide variety of Mexican-style breakfast foods. Visitors can try kibis from the many cocina economicas in this popular tourist spot.
One of the best mercados not as big as the main one but you can find everything you are looking for keep in mind they close at 2 pm

Very small food market with food vendors, all highly rated. Great place to come for your fresh meat, cheese, veg, tortillas. Still authentic, still local. 10/10 will come again.

Found this little Mercado and had to stop because the food smelled delicious. I have specifically been trying to find a place to have a tamal since I have never tried one. Finally I found La Poderosa, a stall on the North side of the Mercado near the street. Had a wonderful Tamal con Pollo! Very pleasant staff and my tamal was less than 30 pesos! Food at all of the stalls looked delicious!

Good place in the center for some fresh food. And after shopping you can eat some tacos there. Really good.
Felix's C — Google review
It's a small market with a small selection of meat. However, we went to get Pollo pechugas which were very good value. Then onto the produce section where they seem to have most things. There's lots of people eating but no crowds, unlike the municiple market.
David W — Google review
The food vendors are great and helpfull as well as the fresh tortillas. However maybe because I am treated as a tourist the produce is overpriced. I purchased 2 times to be sure but the price was double what the supermarket charges 1 min walk away. Though I am in favor of small vendors I will not shop there again as they do not deserve my pesos

Nestled in the heart of Merida, Hotel La Piazzetta & Cafeteria offers a charming retreat with its relaxed ambiance and Italian-inspired architecture. Guests can enjoy comfortable rooms, some featuring delightful balconies that overlook the serene garden. The hotel is conveniently located near Mejorada Square and just a short stroll from key attractions like Museo De la Cancion Yucateca and the bustling Cathedral.
The hotel itself is lovely and very quiet, but not too far from the center. Our highlight though was definitely the owner, Leo, and Augustin. They were incredibly helpful and kind. They shared loads of helpful links and tips with us, organized our early departure and even though we hadn’t booked it, offered us coffee and cakes in the morning. We can definitely recommend staying here

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel in Mérida! From the moment I arrived, I could tell that this place is exceptionally well-managed, likely family-owned, and run with genuine care. The entire property was spotless, and the attention to detail in both cleanliness and hospitality was remarkable. Maria and Augustin, along with the rest of the staff, were incredibly warm and welcoming. They not only made me feel at home but also went out of their way to provide great recommendations on what to see and do in the city. Thanks to them, I was able to explore some hidden gems and truly experience the best of Mérida. The rooms had so many personal touches that made my stay even more special—far beyond what you’d expect from a standard hotel. It felt like every detail was thoughtfully curated to ensure comfort and charm. If you’re looking for a place that combines exceptional hospitality, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the perfect spot. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mérida!

Great place to stay for a few days in Merida. Rooms, cozy, very clean, good airconditioning + a ceiling fan, beds are comfortable. Has everything you need for a short stay. Owner and staff are very welcoming, we got great recommendations on places to see, eat, drink and advice on how to get to them. Made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable Would happily stay here again and recommend other do too.

We loved our stay here! Leo was so welcoming and will not let you want for anything. He messaged us information and tips prior to arrival and couldn't do more for us during our stay. Cold bottles a water from the super friendly security guy each night you return plus coffee, juice and a pastry every morning even though breakfast is 'not included'. A cafe/bar in its own right we enjoyed a cold beer here before going out for dinner as the interior is decorated in a beautifully quirky way and nicely lit. We were in room 6 (yellow skull) which had a gorgeous view of the square, comfy bed, practical layout, excellent fan and aircon etc. Hotel La Piazzetta is run with genuine care and excellent attention to detail - we felt really at home. The location is perfect and we walked everywhere.

Everything was great here, for my 3 night stay. The location is perfect, very quiet spot right on Mejorada park away from the busy plaza grande but still close enough to walk everywhere. I recently visited Catalina Bakery and had the opportunity to sample their food. I ordered an egg with sausage, along with a refreshing glass of orange juice, some bread, and a cup of coffee. While the coffee seemed a bit diluted, it did not have an unpleasant taste. Overall, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of the coffee's strength. However, the service provided was commendable and the prices were reasonable.

Better yet, the overall vibe feels like staying with a really cool, well-traveled family member. Everything is done with so much love and joy - from the gift shop with hand-selected local items, to the daily breakfast that showcases local produce, to the beautiful staff who are warm and genuine, without being overbearing. Absolutely Outstanding Experience! My stay at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, every detail exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was a real highlight—delicious, varied, and beautifully presented each morning. The rooms were incredibly stylish, spotless, and offered a peaceful retreat after a busy day. I was especially impressed by the quiet atmosphere and the thoughtful design touches throughout. The staff truly made my stay unforgettable. They were unfailingly friendly and genuinely attentive, always ready with a great recommendation yet never intrusive. Upon my arrival, they had already made a dinner reservation for me at a wonderful local restaurant (with no obligation, of course), which was a delightful surprise and made me feel truly welcome. All in all, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Every aspect was simply outstanding!

You have to stay at this hotel. You will not regret it. My amazing experience began even before I arrived. Sara, the owner, reached out to me personally to offer special options for my stay. When I got there, her staff greeted me with a warm welcome, a tour, and a drink and snacks—the perfect start after a long flight. The hotel itself is marvelous. The design is thoughtful, and the spacious, comfortable rooms feel luxurious and peaceful. Fresh flowers and plants add a beautiful touch. The hospitality is truly phenomenal. The staff is top-notch and their kindness shows in every detail, from the kind notes and cookies left in my room to the daily cleaning. They even gave great recommendations for places to see and eat. The breakfast is also fantastic; you can tell the chefs are passionate about what they do. They truly go above and beyond. I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, and they surprised me with decorations in my room. This hotel takes the time to get to know you. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at, and I can't recommend it enough.

I’m not entirely sure how hotel star ratings are determined, but if ever a place deserved five stars, it’s The Diplomat Hotel. From the moment I arrived, I felt comforted. That may not be the word most would choose, but for me, it's everything—especially when landing somewhere new. I had a very rough flight into Mérida, one that left me quite ill, and I’ve been carrying the weight of some deeply stressful personal circumstances. So to find myself in a space so serene, so welcoming, so impeccably maintained—it felt like a gift. Every element of The Diplomat feels intentional. You can sense the love and thought behind it all. There’s a story behind each piece of furniture, every fixture, and the small daily rituals that make the experience feel quietly luxurious. And the soul of the space is its people. The staff are not only gracious, they are deeply thoughtful—and that spirit begins with Sara, the owner, whose presence is as integral as any design choice. She sets the tone, and it ripples through the entire experience. I spent two days of my stay recovering from that difficult arrival, and they cared for me in a way that went far beyond hospitality—checking in often, bringing ginger tea, offering ice packs, and making sure I felt safe. It wasn’t just service. It was care, offered with heart. I couldn’t recommend The Diplomat more, and I’m already looking forward to the day I am able to return.

A Magical Honeymoon at The Diplomat Boutique Hotel!! My husband and I finally took our long-overdue honeymoon to Mérida, Mexico this past January (2025), and we had the absolute pleasure of staying at The Diplomat Boutique Hotel. I think it's taken me this long to write this review because I’ve missed it so much — I cried the day we left. The hotel itself is clean, beautifully designed, and perfect in every way. It feels like a true oasis. Neil, Sara, and the rest of the staff could not have been more gracious, welcoming, and kind — they made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. As a big foodie who also eats gluten-free, I was blown away by the breakfasts — each one was fresh, flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and tailored to my dietary needs. Truly, truly, truly top-notch. If you're looking for a magical, memorable experience in Mérida, please do yourself a favor and stay here. You will not be disappointed. We are counting the days we can go back!

Absolutely the best hotel, minus a gym, i have ever been to. The rooms have very very high ceilings and are incredibly charming. Fresh flowers everywhere. The service was unmatched anywhere in the U.S. They were over-accomodating. The meatless breakfast was perfect. Oh and great service that came with a lovable store mascot too.

My mom and I had a great time visiting Tags and speaking with Mauricio (he also has excellent restaurant recommendations!) . Their shoes are comfortable, beautifully designed and priced fairly - we ended up ordering several pairs each. I’d highly recommend paying them a visit as soon as you arrive in Merida so you can wear your news shoes around town!

This was probably one of my favourite experiences in Merida speaking with Mauricio about his business and the shoes was only the beginning. We had such a rich conversation about the history of Mexico, the ethnic and economic challenges that support the WHY behind his business model.

Bought a hip pair of shoes from Mauricio from a friend's recommendation. I wish they had more selections on hand but they keep selling out. If you want to secure a pair of a specific design, I recommend you go in to pre-order them and wait for the store to receive them later in the month. Luckily, they had one pair in my size that I actually liked. Next time I'm in Merida, I'll be sure to come back earlier to pick up more pairs for me and as gifts. :)

(Translated by Google) Second bad experience in those stores. The first time they sold me a cheese that was not fresh: it was already bitter and had a bad taste (they sell them in closed and handcrafted packages, without information on the production date or best before date, so you cannot know the freshness of the product until you open it). This time I wanted to buy another cheese, but the saleswoman reluctantly told me that she could only sell quesillo, even though there were more products on the counter. Then I realized why he was reluctant to attend: the hours that appear on maps are wrong, it says they close at 3 pm, but at 1 pm they were already closing.

I have always favored local or artisanal products, but you have to be aware that they are not packaged. (Original) Me gusta la calidad de los productos que venden. "Between the Lines" is a charming English-language bookstore nestled in Merida, offering a delightful selection of contemporary titles alongside books that delve into Mexican culture, cuisine, and history. Despite its modest size, it boasts an impressive array of bookish gifts like journals and bookmarks. Located within the Carmesi complex, visitors can also explore nearby shops featuring exquisite local handicrafts.
Adorable little bookstore and the owner and other employee were both lovely and helpful with good recommendations. I’d been looking for an English bookstore for awhile and was so lucky to find this place. The store is small but the selection is still good, and they have a nice selection of stationary as well. The owner is nice to chat with and it’s nice to be surrounded by people speaking English after traveling for awhile. I mentioned I was going to Belize soon and she gave me a Belizean $2 bill that someone else had left behind which was a sweet gesture. Very happy with the books I purchased and would for sure go back if I’m in Merida again.

Lovely staff and a nice selection of some real classics and newer rising authors. All books are in English, which is perfect for travellers from abroad. Accept both cash and credit cards. Don't forget to bring your old books to donate (they happily take in books to find new owners) if you don't want to carry them during your travels.

More than a book store for sure! Hand made crafted items. Owner operated, and of course that’s important to me. Found a new author I’m going to look into. Bought a small hand painted sketchbook for my trip. And the most adorable cat tarot deck. Tourist friendly, fluent English, knowledgeable.

A beautiful bookstore with high-quality selection of items. Juanita was very friendly to me and my friends. She gave us recommendations and general pointers to life in Mexico/Merida. I bought a bunch of beautiful postcards here as well as a new novel from a famous Mexican author. Will be back here again :)

Fantastic little shop, owned and run by a lovely, helpful woman - could have hung around all day & chatted. Be sure to stop by, sells all manner of stationary & cards in addition to books. More expensive than new books in England, but she explains the multiple import & delivery fees she’s saddled with as a small business owner. Fully recommend stopping in!

This store is not just a store, its a statement. Aside from a cozy and tastefully designed interior with plenty of books and items to browse through, it is imbued by its owners inspirational personality and her courage to follow her dreams. In a time of big box-stores and digital media, this store sets an impulse in reminding us of what communities are (or used to be) made of. It is the perfect fit for this city and well worth visiting to maybe acquire something to read that will remind you how turning from page to page feels like. ......mind you I had to purchase the glasses first to be able to read that page, yes you can do that here too.

Great English bookstore in Merida. I had a very interesting, informative, and delightful conversation with the owner, Juanita. She recommended a great book on the challenges that a free press faces in MX "Surviving Mexico", and it is outstanding.

Galeria Alfaro Antiguedades is an incredibly charming and captivating antique shop located in the town of Merida. The proprietor, along with her child, has been amassing an impressive collection of treasures from various parts of the county for over a decade and a half. This delightful establishment offers a one-of-a-kind experience that is unparalleled in Merida and perhaps even beyond.
Loved it!! I bought the most amazing skull crafters from limestone and seashell fossils that was found on the top of the mountain. I cannot even imagine how old that skull is!! The lady told us the full story of how the art came to fruition. They had a lot of cool stuff, plus you can negotiate. Great antiques store!

It’s the most lovely antique shop you can stumble upon in the town of Merida. The owner runs her business together with her son and they’ve been collecting their finds from across the county for 16 years. Take a look, wander around and have a chat, it’s worth your time (and money).

Not a goof experience. Upon visiting, the dog at the store tried to bite me. I still bought a fan and a ring. 3 days later, the ring is discoloured - it was actually copper and painted over. The fan has also started to break.

Muebles en Tránsito is a delightful gem nestled in Merida, where the charm of consignment and handmade furniture comes to life. Owned by Tiky, this enchanting gallery showcases an eclectic mix of unique pieces that transform an old warehouse into a shabby chic haven. As you wander through its aisles, you'll discover everything from sofas and beds to lamps and dressers—each item brimming with character.
A great idea for a store here in Merida. This place sells used quality furniture pieces, and they offered a little bit of everything. Located in a very cool warehouse setting. (Google maps had a little bit of trouble identifying where exactly it was located, but eventually it got us there. It's in a warehouse between two other warehouses.) Sofas, beds, dressers, lamps, chairs, lots of interesting items to choose from. Very friendly staff.
Todd J — Google review
A large warehouse filled with vintage antique furniture. If you are looking for unique and distinctive furniture in Mérida, I highly recommend this place. It has the feel of an art museum, so it's a great place to go for a look.
Girina K — Google review
Buyers beware. My expectation when buying used furniture at flea market prices is very low. My expectation at buying used furniture priced as antiques like they are at this store is as follows: They will follow through with the item I purchased in the same condition that I viewed it, they will run a cloth over it to remove the dust and spiders, and they will work with me if anything goes wrong. None of that happened. Granted, the store has nice things, and they are well displayed. But their approach to selling is just bad. We bought an eight seat antique dining room table for $8800 Mx pesos and paid another $1200 Mx pesos for delivery. In the showroom the table was displayed with a flower arrangement on top and chairs around it. There was no obvious damage other than scratches and because the table was displayed with a glass top covering the wood top, we could not easily flip it over to examine it. We trusted that it was a functional table. We even told the salesman that because we were using it for airbnb, we needed something sturdy. The table arrived with one set of legs completely detached and no screws. The detached legs had been glued in place but had broken away, cracking the old wood where the glue held. The other set of legs which clearly had been held in place with screws for the life of the table was now glued with no screws. There were sixteen empty screw holes where the table should have been secured to the legs. We called the store and asked them to come attach the legs and they said they would do it only if we paid an extra fee. They never said what the fee was. We asked if we could pick up the screws and they said yes. When we arrived they offered us two sets of eight screws of different sizes. These were not the original screws but someone’s guess as to what might work. None of the screws were the right size. They were all way too large. We ended up buying 16 screws, reattaching the legs, wiping down the accumulated grime and spider webs and basically getting it into functioning condition ourselves. This is not a busy store. This could have easily been handled before delivery but they let us know after we bought the table that our expectation of a functioning piece of furniture was not a reasonable expectation for us to have. They let us know that we are to assume when we shop there that we might have to do repairs in order to use the furniture. And not only will they not reveal what they know needs to be done, they may even hide the need for repairs in the way they display their furniture. In my mind I expect that when I spend $2000 Mx pesos, not $10,000 Mx pesos including delivery. In my mind, even if it was all unknown to them, their response was sorely lacking. Not good enough. Buyers beware.
Tim M — Google review
Looks way better in the pics the owner posts. Unless you are a connoisseur of good old collectibles, you are better off buying new furniture. The location is odd in what could have been an old abandoned warehouse.

This small grocery store is dedicated to selling artisan goods from the Yucatan, many of which are made by women. All of their products are fair trade, and they carry a wide variety of items at very reasonable prices. They're a great place to buy quality food items at a fraction of the cost you'd pay elsewhere.
This place is pretty tiny, but what made this a five-star experience were the two young men managing the store. They were super friendly. I had some questions about the products and they took the time to explain where they get their products from and the importance of supporting the local Yucatecan artisans.

(Translated by Google) The store is very nice, from the moment you step in the door you feel a good vibe, the smells are very characteristic, everything looks very natural, it has an essence of Yucatan. Is it possible to find natural grains and seeds with the assurance that they do not contain chemicals, how do I know? Thanks to the owner, I know that a product is natural from the moment that spending time without using it sprouts insects called "weevils" and it does not mean that the product is inedible, rather it is time to use it, to process it. The crafts are wonderful and the best thing is the prices, they are not high despite the great work that these people do from going out to the high mountains to get the raw materials to work on them and create beautiful wonders for us, a whole cultural legacy full of traditions . Let's support the local market, our products are very good and top quality, which is why the USA, Canada, Spain, France consume our products, among other countries. Take advantage of the fact that you are in our lands to visit the store and try a little bit of Yucatan, your palate and all your senses will leave happy and loved, with a strong warm hug from our people. Gracias al dueño se, que un producto es natural desde el momento en que de pasar tiempo sin usarlo le brota unos insectos llamados "gorgojo" y no significa que el producto sea incomible, más bien es tiempo de usarlo, de procesarlo.
