The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is a science-themed center that features exhibitions, kids' shows, IMAX films, and a performance center. The theater is well-maintained with professional sets and talented dancers performing first-class productions like 'The Nutcracker.' Despite being located in a slightly sketchy neighborhood, the venue is well-staffed with clean bathrooms. It provides an alternative to traveling to Philadelphia's Academy of Music for Christmas ballet performances.
Such a fun, neat place for kids to learn about how things work. Came for a field trip with my son's class and everyone seemed to have a blast! The place was clean and organized. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend checking it out if you have kids. Or just want to learn.

Saw Murder on the Orient Express last night. Fabulous show and actors! It's a much smaller venue than I had envisioned, very intimate and easy to find our seats. The sound was great, the actors' accents were very good. I'll keep an eye on further events because I would love to come back next time we're in Harrisburg.

So much fun!! I remember going here as a kid so It was fun to take my two kids and neice. We all had a fantastic time just as I had remembered ☺️
Kyla B — Google review
This a fun little cultural center/semi-museum that adds liveliness to Downtown Harrisburg. The science center exhibits excel at exemplifying concepts in a way palatable to young minds. The gift shop is neat too, holding the typical assortment of museum souvenirs such as rock candies, plastic claw grabber things, and those lollipops with arachnids embedded into them.
Martin G — Google review
From the first time we visited the Whitaker center, my daughter asked when we can return. She absolutely loves it! From the kid friendly upstairs to the downstairs which is great for the entire family, she cannot get enough time there. We are definitely going to look into their family pass!
Casey M — Google review
Neither of my kids enjoyed the experience. I'm pretty upset about it. It seemed more like a daycare than a museum. I couldn't wait to take my little ones because it used to be so cool, or maybe I was just young because I know nothing at all is different. Anyway, we will never return. $60 entry for 4, plus $12 if you use the garage for a pointless experience. My little one's handled the boredom well.
Natasha — Google review
The grandkids had a great time. 4 stars because some of the computer systems did not work or froze when you tried to use them. The folio exhibit went into the spinning wheel of death when we tried to record sound effects. The race cars were handled so much we had a hard time finding pieces that would stay together. Other than that, it is very educational. The 3D TRex movie was great.
Tpokeeffe — Google review
Great place to see a show. Warm ambiance, comfy seats, and intimately small so you feel close to the action. All seats have a good view. The staff is very helpful and eager to locate your seats and help you feel comfortable. We particularly enjoy the view from the mezzanine. Easy to get to from I-81 and I-83 and a parking garage conveniently located on premises.

Specialty Museums
The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum, located in the Olde Uptown part of Harrisburg, is a captivating destination dedicated to preserving the state's firefighting heritage. Housed in a charming 1899 Victorian firehouse, the museum showcases a diverse collection of artifacts and equipment that offer insight into the history of firefighting. Visitors can explore vintage fire engines, hand-drawn firefighting equipment, old alarm systems, and learn about the role of volunteer firefighters through engaging exhibits.
It is all volunteers that give you tours and tell you the history. There are many interactive parts to it and it's very educational.
Oran C — Google review
Very historic place. When we first walked in we were greeted by a very knowledgeable volunteer staff member. They went over a ton of history of the fire department and would answer any questions that we had. They had a nice size gift shop in the back with lots of things to choose from at very reasonable prices. If highly recommend checking out this very cool spot of history and support them in keeping it alive!
Joey G — Google review
If you are involved in the fire service and anywhere near Harrisburg...do yourself the honor of visiting the Pennsylvania Fire Museum! You will not be sorry! The alarm room is amazing all by itself! The staff, all volunteer, do an excellent job of making you welcome and educating on the history of the museum. Very cool and very well done...right down to the horse poop on floor!!!
Kevin R — Google review
Nice spot to check out in Harrisburg. The staff was very friendly and gave us a great history lesson. Lots of neat things to see. Will be back again.
Andrey K — Google review
The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum is a very important testament to time and of history of not only the local Harrisburg PA fire department but the fire department in general as a whole from its humble beginnings and where it started to what it has become over the years all the way up to today. I recently visited with my wife and kids, and we had a great time exploring all there is to look at. Whether you want to explore for yourself or have someone show you around they will accommodate you. When we went it was on a Saturday, so I figured there would be more people there but there was not. The museum does apparently run at least partly on the admission fees and or donations from the public so your visit would not only be interesting and fun for you for whoever you go with but go toward a good cause as well. The museum is also very well laid out, the pictures speak for themselves. It is also filled with many fire-department artifacts, and they even let the kids and I ring the bell in the bell tower before we left.
Michael M — Google review
I took my husband to this museum because he's a firefighter and loves everything about the history. We were greeted by a nice gentleman and we talked for a while. It was a self guided tour but the guy was knowledgeable and answered any of our questions we had. There was a couple hands on exhibits and the place was amazing! I would highly recommend this museum for history and fireman buffs alike. I can't express enough of how good of experience we had with this museum. Also it has an elevator and its wheel chair accessible.
Heather K — Google review
The museum itself is in an over 100 year old firehouse. They have artifacts from the man pulled days all the way up to modern day. Upstairs is a very well done room showing how the old alarm system worked. They have several fire trucks on display in the back room. The staff is very informative and helpful. Also has a nice gift shop to end your trip through the museum. A must visit if you're in the area!
Joseph B — Google review
We went on Saturday morning, they had a boy scout group and some extra people but the volunteers still made sure felt welcomed especially barry. He explained everything well gave us some extra information. The exhibits was greatly created informative and had some fun local history but firehouse, firefighters, and tools used by them in general. It was even more crazy with them getting ready for the st. Patty parade and taking one their trucks out to parade. So it was def a cool sight. Again barry popped up gave us more information about trucks and answered questions we had. We paid twenty bucks was a Great value for the museum. Def amazing place for the value. The place was clean, informative and great for all families.

History museum
The National Civil War Museum, located in Harrisburg's Reservoir Park in Allison Hill, is a Smithsonian-affiliated museum that houses over 24,000 items related to the American Civil War. The museum features manuscripts, photographs, documents, artifacts, and military equipment used during the war. With two stories of exhibits and galleries showcasing various aspects of the Civil War era including clothing, food, living conditions in trenches and more.
Great visit, very friendly staff, clean, beautiful grounds and informative exhibits that have a chronological and fulsome history. Especially enjoyed the "War of firsts" tidbits throughout. Could spend between 20 mins and 3++ hours inside depending how much you wish to read. Also had a nice nook with plenty of books to enjoy if you want to spend longer.
S G — Google review
Great exhibits, perfect place to start learning about the acw or to introduce someone to it. Good overview that includes the Western Front as well (rare) though lacking info on overall civilian experience, there is a lot about slavery, emancipation, usct, and Black experience at the time. Beautiful view outside!
Jesse H — Google review
It's a great American story; what President Abraham Lincoln did is admirable. Unlike today's administration, which wants to feel like a hero just by talking and giving orders.
Juan C — Google review
It's a very cool place if you have the time to read each wall panel. There are no wow factor artifacts, just cool history.
Jake W — Google review
A great experience but a bit pricey at $17 for seniors. Quality artifacts and well displayed information. Very cold (bring your sweater) and narratives can make it difficult to read. Highly recommend.
B C — Google review
An impressive and very well-organized museum. The collection is extensive and covers both the Union and the Confederacy’s perspectives, making it balanced and informative. The exhibits are clearly presented, with original artifacts, documents, and audiovisual displays that bring the era to life. The staff is friendly and always willing to answer questions. A must-visit for anyone interested in history.

This was an amazing experience! My husband and I were excited to find this on our last day there in town. We learned a few things that we have not read before and we have been to a lot of museums. The displays were amazing and the items they had were incredible to see. Thank you for a wonderful time.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Wildwood Park, located just northeast of Uptown, is a dog-friendly preserve offering a variety of trails and boardwalks that wind through marshes and wet woodlands. The 229-acre park features over 6 miles of hiking trails, providing opportunities to explore untouched wilderness and enjoy striking scenery around the 90-acre shallow lake. Visitors can immerse themselves in nature by taking in views of meadows, forests, lakes, wildflowers, and wildlife along the scenic nature trails.
Found this scenic trail hike, best place to unwind and relax in. Must be more beautiful when flowers bloom ☺️ Dogs are allowed, however they must be leashed at all times. Restrooms are available in both north and south checkpoints (where parking lots are). I find it interesting that the Wildwood Way Trail offers unique artworks to admire. With that being said, make sure to bring water and enjoy the hike!
Ting L — Google review
Very well maintained and beautiful place for a hike with dogs! There's a variety of paved to primitive trails and the maps online as well as posted at the park make it easy to choose a path appropriate for you. We saw so many birds, turtles and frogs! It's really nice that there are benches placed periodically on the trails, especially at great places to stop and take in the view. I hiked here alone with my dogs and felt very safe.
Whitney H — Google review
Beautiful park in the middle of a busy area. The trails are amazing, you can tell they do a lot of up keep especially with Fox Run trail (with the wooden planks) and the multiple boardwalk sections. The different trials also give a lot of terrain variety for running/walking. Will definitely be going back to do 1 trail I didn't get to run and to enjoy all the stunning nature.
Kiara M — Google review
It's a nice trail in a natural woody area with changing color trees, birds chirping in the neighborhood of busy highways. The Paxton Creek along the trail adds to the calming effects. My dog and I had a great visit on a beautiful Fall Saturday afternoon.
Bianca C — Google review
It is a beautiful place! Quiet serene an the perfect place to get away for a bit, definitely a place your family would enjoy, or a place for a stroll with your sweetheart, if you in area an have time check it out!

This is a super chill park. Some picnic and grilling areas. 2 marsh boardwalks. Some observation decks. Had a good time walking around and exploring. Wish I had checked out the Nature center but oh well🤷‍♂️
Ryan H — Google review
We had a fun time exploring! We didn't walk the entire trail. Eager to go back for another adventure! We saw lots of wildlife.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania, located in Harrisburg, is a sprawling museum adjacent to the State Capitol building. It offers a comprehensive look at the history of Pennsylvania from prehistoric times to the present day. The museum features exhibits on Native Americans, astronomy, the Civil War, industry, and wildlife. One of its notable permanent exhibits is a large painting depicting The Battle of Gettysburg: Pickett's Charge.
Took the kids (5 and 8)here to explore and observe. They seemed entertained and we easily spent most of the day here. They really enjoyed the hands-on sections throughout the Museum.

so fun and you’ll definitely spend 2+ hours here! there is so much to see and also hands-on activities for kids, as well as plenty of souvenirs from the shop in the main lobby. it was super interesting and i’ll definitely be recommending!
Sailin A — Google review
Excellent history museum that has something for everyone in the family. The rich history, cultural and natural wonders of the state are on display here. One of my favorite galleries was the wildlife gallery with the natural dioramas of some of the iconic PA wildlife.
JD — Google review
Great museum, especially for only $7. This was my second time visiting. We started with a 4th grade and above planetarium show which was awesome, about twenty minutes, and only $4. The top floor has the planetarium, some of the coolest natural history exhibits I’ve ever seen, the biggest mastodon Skelton from PA, and a walk through exhibit of the Allegheny forest millions of years ago, complete with huge bugs and scaly trees. Very cool. The gift shop has mostly reasonable prices and many cool PA souvenirs, including some pretty, locally made wooden earrings (which I picked up for myself and some family members).
H D — Google review
Absolutely fantastic museum. I loved the civil rights area videos showing how the community felt about the family moving in etc. The things they had to overcome sadly back then. The interstate history with all the cars and how the turnpike came to be was my favorite. The animal display was also nice. Very clean and very good experience. I was impressed more than I expected to be. Very nice museum. Multiple floors and very friendly staff as well! Also the prices for tickets are very cheap which makes it even better. Including 3 hour parking, we spent only about $30 for 2 adults.
Andrew B — Google review
Admission is $7, and the museum spans four floors of diverse history. From Native American exhibits to classic vehicles, and from animals to wildlife displays, there’s something here to capture everyone’s interest
Amanda C — Google review
Following a visit to the state capitol building, I went there. The entrance fee is $7. It offers a very nice and comprehensive history of Pennsylvania. The museum highlights individuals who made significant contributions to the state and the nation. However, I was unfortunately unable to reach the third floor due to exhaustion. Despite the wealth of information, I plan to return in the future.
Salaadino — Google review
It is a very large museum with 4 floors with many artifacts about the state of Pennsylvania. We spent 3 hours there and barely scratched the surface. Many historical facts with lots of detail about the importance of Pennsylvania to the forming and supporting the union. The natural historical part had some nice samples of animals that roamed Pennsylvania. The industrial had a lengthy list of contributions that the state made to propel the nation to its current status. Overall, it is worth a visit. A very good place for a family to spend an afternoon exploring the past of this great state.

The Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat, constructed in 1988, is a rare find as one of only six riverboats in the United States with an authentic paddlewheel. This replica of late 1800s riverboats offers public and private cruises during warmer months, including special event cruises like Jazzin on the Pride and Murder Mystery Dinner Cruises.
You can never go wrong with a boat ride especially when it’s a Riverboat. The inside of the river is amazing and beautiful. There is the bottom level and the top deck you can look out from. They do sell drinks during the tour as well. The staff are amazing and the boat is very clean. Parking may be an issue if there is a baseball game at the time of your tour.
Charlie R — Google review
It was nice. This is my second ride on the cruise. The first was for an All White Party (clothing) an ex coworker of mine threw a few years back. The second was the Juneteenth 2023 cruise. The guest speakers and the live entertainment was delightful. My only disappointment was the refreshments and the worker that was tending to the spread. I watched her touch every single cookie and cake that she placed on the table with her bare hands. No gloves and no sanitizer in sight. That was disgusting and unprofessional to say the least.
Shani S — Google review
Awesome Boat ride and lots of information about the great Susquehanna River. A must do if in the area. We booked our tickets in advance but can get them at the location too. There are drinks and snacks available on board. Parking is tricky keep on driving the loopty loop till you see parking for boat ride and don't park far away. Overall great experience and will be back.
Tayush M — Google review
Very relaxing fun experience. Captain and crew were welcoming and friendly. Music venue was relaxing and fun. We went on the sightseeing tour with music provided. Make sure you don't go on a game night! Parking for the dock shares a roadway with the stadium.
Gma T — Google review
We drove from Strasburg, VA to experience this and I am so glad we did. It was very relaxing and my son and I enjoyed the view very much! I wish it was longer but honestly it was perfect! I will be recommending this to all of my friends and I would also love to come back with my boyfriend! 10/10.
Pamella M — Google review
Dinner cruise was great. Murder mystery and a meal. Staff was fantastic. The show was entertaining and energetic. The food.. Average. Go for the show and make sure you send time on the top deck. The night is beautiful in the river.
Brad W — Google review
Not very exciting, travels up river for 30 minutes and 15 minutes back. They do have an interesting talk that plays during part of the ride. The flags on the side of the boat are distracting from the view and the interior is dated. Luckily it was a nice day and we could enjoy the weather from the bow and the top deck by the stern.
Allen W — Google review
A glorious ride on a tiny riverboat. Dinner was okay, but my whole meal was ice cold, along with my best friends meal. Our husbands meals were hot. Not the river boats fault but the fall foliage didn't exist. That was kinda funny, all in all it was okay.

The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion, also known as the Simon Cameron House, is a historic house museum located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Built in 1766 by city founder John Harris, this National Historic Landmark offers tours and rentals and houses a Civil War historical society. The mansion has undergone several additions and restoration projects since its construction. Its photogenic Georgian architecture makes it a must-see for those interested in city architecture.
My husband and I got married here a couple of weekends ago, and it was magical. I love history and antiques, so it was the perfect setting for a small ceremony and reception. Steve, the manager, is very friendly and knowledgeable of the history of the mansion. He was also so helpful in ensuring everything went well. I tried to pick a couple of photos that best show what the mansion looks like. Hopefully I can add more pictures of the interior once we get our full gallery back. Photographer: Snowdrop Creative Co.

Great place to learn about history of Harrisburg. You might want to reserve time for guided tour. Our guide was really awesome. He seemed like knew about the place for long time. We had great time when we watched all the detail historical furniture there. It is really amazing that everything in there is been well maintained such a long period of time.
Meekyoung O — Google review
Steve our docent was spectacular. He was very informative and spoke quite fluently about the history of the house, its former residents and the surrounding area. He took us through the rooms as if going back into a time machine. As we entered into a different section of the home we entered a different period of history. Steve is an excellent guide who you will enjoy listening to. One more thing, he will tantalize your mind with a fee audio and visual treats.
Tai V — Google review
Very cute house. There is a parking lot but it is hard to find. It is on a one way street coming from main street and it is at the back of the house. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. Would recommend for anyone interested in Harrisburg history.

Museum open for tours, with each room beautifully furnished in period furniture and displays. The art deco bathroom is spectacular.
Betsy B — Google review
Event was a re-enactment of the first public reading of the Declaration Of Independence. Train, plane and automobile traffic occasionally drowned out the speaking, but the event was well informed, well executed and well oriented. The tour of the mansion was also well done. A good way to begin our holiday activities.
Mark R — Google review
The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion is an incredible and important historical landmark full of the fascinating and rich early histories of Harrisburg as well as the greater Susquehanna River Valley. It is without question, a hidden gem. My wife and I were the only two on our guided tour, which was quite personalized, beyond excellent, and deeply informative. The structure and its many historical artifacts and pieces have been immaculately preserved, curated, and displayed. The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion is an exquisite place to explore even if history is not your forte. Nothing less than a remarkable commitment to stewardship could have preserved and presented this site so well. The Dauphin County Historical Society with its many interesting maps is also worth a visit.
Garste88 — Google review
Amazing museum with very friendly staff. My husband and I made a last minute decision to do the 3 pm tour and it was very personable since it was just us and our tour guide. The mansion is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, also managed to buy a few things from the gift shop. We will definitely be visiting again!!!

Housed in a former bank, Susquehanna Art Museum is a unique and inviting space in the heart of the midtown neighborhood. As Pennsylvania's first non-sectarian art museum, it offers educational programs and rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The museum's exhibits include a diverse range of art, from regional to international artists. In addition to showcasing original exhibitions, performances, and classes, it also provides opportunities for volunteer work and art education for both adults and youth.
I attended the Seventh Annual A Taste of Jazz fundraiser this Sunday evening, sponsored by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Harrisburg. It is a wonderful evening for jazz and to view the current exhibit, Tribute to the Civil Rights Movement: Quilted Swing Coats, by Patricia A. Montgomery. How cool is it that the DeSoto Family Vault displays two quilted swing coats in the steel bank vault? This wonderful gathering of familiar faces, Jazz ensembles, light bites, cocktails, and a silent auction will help raise funds for programs that serve the Harrisburg community, especially the Beacon Health Clinic, which provides free healthcare for uninsured adults.

I had hoped to see more painting artworks during our visit, but may be we came at the wrong time. We were able to explore the entire museum in less than 30 minutes it's quite a small museum
Jin K — Google review
Beautiful building, friendly staff, unique art and design. Quilt display and needlepoint was beautiful.

A small two story museum that has carefully curated collections. The "Making Your Mark" exhibition is a great educational experience that put together different techniques used in modern painting practices. Very informative and easy to understand for general public. The hands-on area provides simple tools and essential materials so that visitors could put their thoughts into a quick scratch. There was a workshop session going on but didn't have a chance to signup for a short stay in town.
Chuck — Google review
Very small but entertaining museum. The entrance fees are very low, especially when you're a student. The majority of the artworks displayed are part of the temporary exhibit, which was interesting when I went there in March 2017. There are also some workshops for children in order to promote culture, which is a very nice initiative. No restaurant or cafeteria if I remember correctly.
Guillaume S — Google review
What an amazing place! We are here for the 1st time on a school trip. The morning presentations were divided into to parts for the elementary children (k-2/3-5)& was at a level that was easily understood by them without treating them as if they were unintelligent. My son (7) thoroughly enjoyed the creative actitivty & said he even liked learning about the artist & seeing the other paintings. My daughter (11) attended the afternoon (6-12) presentation & said that it wasn't as boring as she thought it would be. The also did a creative actitivty which she loved and said the presentation on the pictures was very interesting & informative. With the muesum changing exhibits every 12 week there are multiple times each year you could visit & do new things. We enjoyed this trip a lot & plan to become members to enjoy it even more. Some of the perks are AWESOME.

Appalachian Brewing Company is a historic brewery located in downtown Harrisburg, offering housemade beers and craft sodas alongside casual bites like burgers. Established in 1997, it's the first and only brewery to open in the capital since prohibition times. The brewery provides tours and tastings at its atmospheric brewpub, with the original location offering free tours every Saturday afternoon that include complimentary beer and soda samples.
Great bar and food. Lots of space and interesting people. Wide selection of locally brewed beer. There is a large parking lot.

Absolutely loved this place. Michael provided a warm welcome and great guidance on the beers available. Had 2 local IPAs. One of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever eaten. The type of place you would love to live close to. Lots of regulars at the bar. Was a very happy Irishman leaving.
Sean B — Google review
Great lunch experience here. Bartender was super helpful and friendly. Chicken Caesar salad was great. Beers were solid - the Sigma Oasis was my favorite. First brewery ever to give me a tiny ginger beer glass to “cleanse the palate” between beers. I dig the design of the taster glasses too. Only negative is that it seemed a little sketchy walking here from downtown in mid-afternoon. Wouldn’t do it alone at night, even as a relatively large adult male.

I came here late one night for a bite to eat while on a business trip. Really enjoyed the character of the building and the atmosphere inside. The drinks and food, especially my burger, was awesome! The sauce that came with the fries was super good too! Highly recommend visiting here if you have not been.

Great place for lunch or a quick beer when in the PA capital city. Spacious interior, pleasant atmosphere and tasty, reasonably priced food make this a great spot to take friends and family. Not as many beer offerings as many of the other local breweries and most of those are IPAs but what they do offer are fresh and delicious. Definitely would return.

Great service, fabulous food and friendly staff. I strongly recommend the Mile High Meatloaf, Pierogies and the Elephant Ear Dessert. My only dislike is the diet soda, the taste of stevia is a bit strong.
K. W — Google review
Awesome spot. They have great selection of locally brewed beer and I think they also have a distillery there so you can order cocktails with their rum, vodka, bourbon, etc. I’ve ordered sour beer, and my wife had Scottish ale. Both were good. We also had The Original Harrisburger and Rockfish Tacos. Pretty tasty although I would’ve included some additional ingredients in the tacos. We also had maple bacon cheesecake for dessert. I know it sounds like a weird combination but it was yummy! Staff was very nice and welcoming.

The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Harrisburg is a must-see landmark with its impressive green dome and beautiful facade. This National Historic Landmark, built in 1907, showcases exceptional Baroque Revival and Renaissance Revival architecture. Visitors are drawn to the stunning interior featuring 45 stained glass windows imported from Germany. The cathedral offers a peaceful atmosphere for reflection and appreciation of its majestic design, making it a highlight for many tourists exploring downtown Harrisburg.
Amazing cathedral in downtown Harrisburg. I recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

My first time visiting a cathedral, and I was truly in awe. The doors are open to both visitors and those coming to worship. A kind church member welcomed me inside and shared a little about the cathedral’s history and its pastor. For $5, you can also request a prayer. The building itself was beautiful and fascinating to see—I’d definitely recommend stopping in!
Amanda C — Google review
Stopped here to give thanks for the journey and quiet reflection. The stain glass is very beautiful and well kept. The artwork is incredibly beautiful. a lot of love and devotion went into the craftsmanship and design.
RUSSELL S — Google review
Simply majestic cathedral. You feel a lot of peace and harmony. I went in and stayed for a few minutes sharing with my daughter stories of the Catholic Church, of the bishops, of how to become a Pope. It was a moment of great fluidity and blessing. I was surprised by their architecture and that they had their doors open although there was no mass at that time. God bless all the parishioners who attend here and all the priests and bishops who officiate the Mass.🙏🏻🇺🇸⛪️✝️
J G — Google review
A beautiful sacred space, blocks from the Capital. I’ve been to two daily Masses here, and have very much felt at home. The windows are beautiful. The space is also very handicap accessible. A ramp on the left side (looking at the Cathedral from outside) goes into the church. Ample space and a ramp to the restrooms as well.
Nicholas P — Google review
Medium to big size cathedral in downtown Harrisburg, two blocks away from the capitol. Besides the marvelous interior design in the church, what surprised me is the current conditions of the whole building: it is like a brand new church. When we visited, it was during a Friday morning. No mass at that point, but the church is kept open for visits.
Arthur A — Google review
The architecture is really beautiful and the structure, painting and art is very detailed and captivating! Really nice church to go for a mass or even silent prayers. The Priest (in the picture) was really wonderful and he made us feel very welcome!

Escape Games Live - Lemoyne offers a unique escape room experience where you can solve clues with your friends and family without being paired with other groups. The Sherlock room provides a fantastic flow, allowing for divergent linear progress and the ability to work on multiple puzzles simultaneously, making it suitable for larger groups. The game master is praised for providing timely clues and ensuring an enjoyable experience.
This was one of the best escape rooms our family has been to! Our host Abby was great- very friendly and funny and helpful. The demonstration of the rules was such a nice touch!! We did the young Sherlock room which was perfect for my 9,11 and 13 year old. The puzzles were clever and challenging and we barely escaped with just a minute or two to spare! The room was neatly decorated and the puzzles were interesting and fun. We enjoyed the whole experience immensely!! We can’t wait to try another room next time!!
Nina F — Google review
We had a really fun time doing the Sherlock Holmes themed room with Leah as our host. The escape room was clean and beautifully decorated, super immersive in the Sherlock Holmes style. The room had a great variety of puzzles that kept me and my husband engaged and entertained the whole time. Leah did a great job explaining the rules and the hints she gave were just enough to keep us going! We really enjoyed our experience and can’t wait to come back to try the harder escape room they have!

We had host Abby! She was so lively, humorous, and kind even at 9:30 pm! She brightened our Friday night after our long days of work! Got us ready to take on Sherlock’s Office. Additionally, her clues were exactly what we needed without ruining the fun or confusing us more. As for the room it keeps you intrigued, challenging but not defeating. There are multiple puzzles you can solve at once so it was perfect for a group. Pair were able to work on their own which keeps everyone involved without stepping on toes. I even got to wear Sherlock’s coat as I solved the puzzles :)

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Escape Room Live! From the moment we walked in, the energy was exciting and immersive. Our host, Abby, was truly second to none, professional, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what she does. She set the tone perfectly, providing just the right mix of guidance and challenge to make the experience thrilling from start to finish. The room itself was impressively designed, with a plethora of clever and layered clues that kept our whole group thinking, collaborating, and (most importantly) having a blast. Every puzzle was unique and well thought out! If you’re looking for a fun, challenging, and memorable experience, Escape Room Live is a must. And if you’re lucky enough to get Abby as your host, you’re in for an unforgettable time. 10/10 — we’ll absolutely be back!

Our family had a great time. We went for our kids' birthday and it was so much fun. It is well organized, clean helmets , and they have plenty of carts. The price is not bad at all for all the race time you get. Great for all age groups.

Our first time visiting. We had a great time. We were greeted right away, registered and out to the course quickly. We arrived early in the day, which turned out to be a good thing. After our first round more people started arriving. The learning curve was swift, so soon our racers were relaxed and racing each other. The sign on the door referenced welcome to your new addiction; well stated, our experience was the topic of conversation for the rest of the day. Everyone talking about next time. Thank you for the opportunity and for our fun experience.

Very informative goes by heights to determine if you kid is ready go adult kart or is still in the kids karts. Overall a great family experience for this family of 5. It isn't about placing here it is about your time around the track. Better course than urban air for sure!

Went there for a company function. It was a ton of fun. The speed feels intense because of the right curves. The operators are professional and cool. Claire at the front desk is extremely friendly and helpful. They give you a report of your driving after each set.
John ( — Google review
The adult karts were fast and a ton of fun! The track layout made for a great competition with our group of 9 drivers. It’s wide enough to fit passing in, and get the karts really moving. There was a delay in getting our pizzas, but they gave us a free race for the inconvenience. Appreciate the staff making this a great memory for a 16 year old’s birthday event! Definitely recommend.
Jon B — Google review
The karting in general was a blast and the dudes running the karts where nice. My only complaints are their website makes it seem like there will be a bar with drinks and food, there is not. The lady at the front desk had a weird attitude for no reason. Not the fault of the place, but they place you with random people some that drive really slow. This wouldn't be too much of an issue, but they would not listen to the flags to move over causing multiple laps of not being able to fully compete.

HMAC is an amazing venue in Midtown Harrisburg. Top tier staff with a great attitude! 3 levels of entertainment. The bars, one on the main floor and 2 upstairs in the Ballroom were well placed and also had great tenders behind them. Was kind of blown away by the sound system. It's amazing. I will absolutely return for a concert again!

I went to HYP social thing, it was pretty cool! Met some new people. The bathroom had a weird smell though, and there were drawings all over the walls. There's street parking available.
Salaadino — Google review
Would not recommend this venue for concerts. It is managed poorly. Times posted online do not reflect when concerts begin. The post for last night said doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 6:30pm. We figured, get there early because the times don’t seem right. Then, we waited over an hour for the opening bands to begin. The sound people for the venue aren’t good. The first two bands sounded terrible. You couldn’t hear their vocals. It seems like there were more people in the standing room than could reasonably fit. Not enough A/C for a crowd that size. HOT! People were sick and leaving. Next time we will spend a little more money, travel a little further, and go to a nicer venue.

One of the best venues to catch my favorite band in the world, especially for their hometown shows! **** From Ashes to New!! 🤘🏼 **** BEST band and group of guys there is!! HMAC is the best place to catch an awesome show! They have great food! And a wide variety of drinks to choose from. They also have a secret side room with a smaller venue just past the downstairs bar in the corner by the game tables. I was just here this past Saturday to catch my Homies. I had the Chicken Strips and Fries which came with a spicy BBQ dip, it was fantastic! And they were REALLY quick! The service and efficiency of the venue is excellent! The staff are courteous and knowledgeable. Just an all out great place, especially when catching your favorite show! 🤘🏼💯

This a very interesting place. It is beyond description but that is a great thing. It reminds me of a few old places I visited across the south to include New Orleans, La. The bar was well stocked & not expensive. The staff was extremely friendly and fast. The music room here is a bit small & the acoustics aren't great. The crowd was one of the best I've seen in years. We took my 7 year old granddaughter and she laughed so much. The Popcorn Hat Players understand what kids think is funny and how to entertain them. The show was less than an hour which is great for a kid's attention span. Highly recommend
Rene J — Google review
(📢 Obligatory Disclaimer: This was a hosted review, which means we got to see the show for free in exchange for our honest opinions. Spoiler alert: Our opinion is that it was absolutely fantastic.) The Chaos Before the Curtain Let’s set the scene: I, your ever-prepared mother of five, missed my exit and found myself peeling off the highway with mere minutes to spare. The kids? Half-asleep, warm, cozy, and utterly unwilling to be yanked from their Macaroni VAN nests. But there was no time for feelings. “LEAVE YOUR COATS, WE’RE LATE!” I bellowed, ushering four tiny, shivering childsicles (child-popsicles, for the uninformed) across the sidewalk and into the warmth of Gamut Theatre with an entrance that can only be described as dramatic. We slid into our seats with a whole two minutes to spare, just in time for the Popcorn Hat Players to kick off The Golden Goose—a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud retelling of the classic fairytale, complete with plenty of audience participation, hilarious improv, and the kind of slapstick humor that had my kids absolutely losing their minds. Born for the Stage (Or At Least the Front Row) From the moment the show began, Ridley (6, M) and River (3, F) were locked in. These two were born for the stage, and the constant audience interaction had them riveted. They were pointing, calling out, belly-laughing, and participating like it was their own personal Broadway debut. And then there was Roland (10, M)—my too-cool-for-everything eldest—who shocked us all by VOLUNTEERING to be part of the show. That’s right. The kid who side-eyes anything remotely “kid-ish” hopped right up on stage. If that’s not a Popcorn Hat Players endorsement, I don’t know what is. Encore at Home: Featuring a Stuffed Unicorn The fun didn’t stop at the theatre doors. After the show, Ridley and River spent the rest of the day reenacting the entire performance—with a stuffed unicorn standing in for the titular goose. There was dramatic running, proclamations of “Don’t touch the goose, or you won’t get loose!” and an impromptu chase sequence through my living room that resulted in a couch cushion being declared a “castle.” Honestly, Popcorn Hat Players should start paying them for their post-show promotions. We’ll Be Back—Again and Again! After this absolute blast of a performance, we are officially hooked.

This is my first time attending a performance at the Gamut Theatre Group. Tonight, I saw Hyena Skits Sketch Comedy Show's debut ensemble, which was primarily written and directed by Dujuan Dixon. The evening featured ten different comedy skits, all pleasantly funny. It's great to see talent in an area that highlights their passions and creativity. If you missed the debut of Hyena Skits Sketch Comedy Show, mark your calendars for additional performances on June 7 and June 28. Tickets are available online through Eventbrite. Cocktails are available for purchase, and a closed container is provided for you to return to your seat. Parking is not a problem in the evening since most shows start at 8:00 p.m. and parking is free after 5:00 p.m. You can even park in the state employees' designated spaces without being ticketed.

Harris Tower & Museum is a hidden gem in Harrisburg that many locals are unaware of. It offers a unique experience for train enthusiasts and families alike. Visitors can expect to be pleasantly surprised by the museum housed within the tower, where they can witness the bustling rail yard from air-conditioned windows and even operate manual switches on old equipment. The knowledgeable staff provide valuable insights into railroad history, making it an educational and fascinating visit for all ages.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! The volunteers here are amazing and incredibly knowledgeable. They have the simulation set up to run the tower operations exactly how it was in 1943. They let you line routes on the Model 14 board. It was well worth the drive.

This place was amazing. It was my last stop on the 2022 candlelight tour. I could have spent hours here learning about this place in particular and the rail history in Harrisburg in particular. I never knew how interesting railroad history was, I was never drawn to it. But going here and learning about it from the docents was mind blowing. Go when you have a chance and talk to the people that are there to learn about it.

It's an awesome small museum. Our group had a private event and were welcomed with open arms and given a full tour and history. We ran their tower program that let us move trains in real time across the many tracks the tower once controlled. It was awesome and I thank everyone involved. Recommend a visit anytime.
Christian B — Google review
I lived in Harrisburg most of my life and didn’t realize this existed until recently. My children love trains and all things train related. We ended up spending almost two hours there. The staff let them set switches on the old equipment. The best part by far was the front row seat for watching trains go by. One of the staff members kindly opened a window at their level so they could get an even better look. They loved it and have been begging to go back. I don’t know if a non-rail fan would spend so much time there but it is definitely worth a visit. Free parking right next to it… it is usually for permitted state workers but is open and available to visitors on the weekends when the tower is open. I would check when it is open. I believe it is seasonal only.

Beautiful place and perfect for field trips!! Great for my kids that are different ages that are homeschooled it’s for any age and kept very clean. Got to see a lot of wildlife and loved inside the little museum they have. The trails have a ton of different art that is very beautiful. Love coming here for walks

We love the Wild Wood Park and the nature center. The 3-mile paved path offers a sense of cleanliness and an easy walking experience. There are a few up and down hills around the lake but they are not so steep. There are some overlook spots give out an overview of the area. There're a few paths were blocked due to structural damages. Hopefully, they can be repaired soon. The highlight is the nature center. The observation window allows visitors an opportunity to capture birds of all species at one spot. It's also a great spot for a photo opportunity. The photo contest offer a sense of community engagement and fun for all ages. I highly recommend visiting this park and nature center all seasons!! The best part is it is free even with parking.

Wildwood is one of my favorites! My partner is building art that will be shown in March, which makes this place even more special now! It's just a wonderful, naturey, easy hike that is very family friendly, and you get to see some great wildlife as well!

Such a great stop for the whole family! Spend time here and appreciate the wetland preserve, the engineering in place to manage water levels, search for geocaches, let the kids run and complete a scavenger hunt inside the nature center! Lots of seasonal activities posted for kids, volunteer opportunities and informational pamphlets to help you enjoy your time here, whether it be 30” or longer.

A wonderful educational resource right in our backyard. The center is a great place to learn about the wetlands or just sit quietly and observe. There is almost always a new event that is on display at the center so we visit several times a year. Tigers in the wild was a huge success. Thank You!

If you're looking to explore the beautiful area surrounding Harrisburg, the Capital Area Greenbelt Trail is an excellent choice. This 21.2-mile loop offers a variety of surfaces, including asphalt, cinder, concrete, and crushed stone. The trail encircles the city and connects various parks, museums, gardens, and woods along the Susquehanna River.
The ride is excellent. Mostly it’s on paved surfaces, some unpaved and some just a bit challenging. A gravel bike (I was riding my Specialized Diverge with Pirelli 40 mm M tread tubeless) is useful, but I’m sure a good rider on a road bike with 28 or 30 mm tires would be fine. The scenery and views along the river and in the woods are wonderful. The climbs in the woods are an absolute bear! My one by GRX set up ran out of gears 3 times. Most of the signage is good but a few spots need more signs to reassure you, and one arrow was completely wrong and I wasted a half mile before I realized it. The southern end along the river needed some absent detour signs. These problems were acknowledged by the stalwart in charge of the signs. I was informed that the detail signs had been neglected by the crew due to rain 🤔. Generally it was great. Note to the wise, State street provides a bridge over the deep gorge where the railroad runs . Other routes actually take the innocent under the rail, and the climb back up the East side is truly brutal, so use State street when you can. I admit to being a transplanted Miami rider, but please. 😅👍🚴🏻‍♀️

Ever since we found out my trunk bike carrier works on our SUV late this summer, we've fervently explored biking trails around the Harrisburg area before the season's over.  One of the first things that came to mind would of course be the Capital Area Greenbelt.  It's a 23 mile route interconnecting paved paths, crushed-stone trails, and public roads.  We've only explored 3 different segments of the Greenbelt. The first is City Island and Riverfront Park. Start by looping around the small island which is less than a mile but think of it as a warm up. You also get to see some touristy highlights such as the Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat, Water Golf, and City Island Railroad.  Then cross the picturesque Walnut Street Bridge, turn left on to my favorite segment so far, the Riverfront Park. This paved segment runs for 3 miles alongside the Susquehanna River all the way to Vaughn St.  Along the way you get to see many sculptures and historic landmarks. Some highlights include State Street, Governor's Mansion, Peace Garden, and Sunken Garden. And if you're open to excursions, take detours and check out the Capitol Complex and Italian Lake. The second segment we've been frequenting without realizing it's part of the Greenbelt - Wildwood Park. I've had a 5-star review on it. It's one of  my favorite parks in the Harrisburg area.  I've read that there's a new 1.5 mile segment connecting from Wildwood Park to Fort Hunter.  I can't wait to check that out! The third segment we just tried today, the Andrea Ave Spur.  It's not part of the main loop but still part of the Greenbelt. I guess you can think of it as an extension, much like the Fort Hunter segment.  This one starts out on a crushed-stone path but soon turns into a fully paved trail. It's only 2.3 miles to the main loop near the Farm Show complex, but it's hilly and punishing at times. This is a different experience than, say, a rail trail which is more secluded and allows you to be soaked with nature.  Here you do not completely leave civilization. Another negative aspect is that many sections insolve public roads.  I'm not sure I should venture the southeast portion of the Greenbelt, based on the map...

This is a beautifull Trail. It is a well maintained. I found my first painted Rock on the Greenbelt. What is a great spot for an afternoon after lunch walk. And out of town I would recommend to a friend. :-)
Louis B — Google review
The good part of the greenbelt goes by the river but the best part of this: - paved path is narrow - paved path is bumpy from tree roots - there are dangerous concrete trash cans along the route to crash into - the southern end has hundreds of homeless people living in squalor - once it leaves the river, the trail is hard to follow & crosses many busy roads.
Captin B — Google review
Nice paved trail alongside a rippling river in the city. Several parking areas to start your trek. We definitely enjoyed it!
Lisa M — Google review
Completed a bike ride of the full trail. For the most part, the signage was excellent. We did get a little off track around the PennDOT building. A passing cyclist told us we could exit the rear of their parking lot, walk across the tracks and pick it up on the other side (go left on trail). Overall, it was a great experience with some beautiful scenery hiding the hustle and bustle of Harrisburg.

Underappreciated! It's hard to express just how happy it makes me to have a beautiful, shaded walking/biking path just minutes from where I live. One moment you're on a busy city street, the next you're blanketed in quiet, engulfed in greenery, accompanied by a babbling brook with plenty of spots to cool your feet!

We had my son's birthday party there yesterday and I can't thank them enough! We booked a 10 am party and we had the entire party table section to ourselves. The young lady who ran it was so helpful and nice! And the young man who is the mouse was amazing! All the parents and kids had so much fun. I have not one bad thing to say! I know next year, I'm going to try to talk my son to having it here again because everything was taken care of! Will definitely be back!!

I was way surprised to see how much nicer this place is since I was a kid. The birthday parties are the way to go for young kids. My son just turned 5 and had a blast with his friends.

I have heard and read that this Chuck E. Cheese location has been open for a very long time, and I will say that there aren't many signs of its age. The interior is modernized, and it looked surprisingly clean. Of course, this is a children's facility, and it appeared to be very child friendly. There was even a kids birthday party going on when I stopped by, and it looked like they were having fun! Of course, there is a mild odor, as children have their shoes off and they are using the play areas. The salad bar looked very clean, and there was an employee standing at the entrance greeting people and making sure children don't run off. From my brief observation, this place looked a lot better than my previous experiences with this company.

Mainly went here for the arcade. The place itself is not bad. But lot of the arcade machines and games seem very outdated. Some are out of service and doesn't work. We normally get one card for 45 mins and share it among the kids for the time. I don't think the other options are worth it as the tickets you get is very little compared to other arcade locations we have gone to. I would suggest them to get some new games. I also compare it to Dave&Busters where we usually goes to on Wednesdays.

Visited thus particular chuck e cheese on a Saturday evening. Been here several times before but this time it was very not enjoyable. The "down to clown" game had 90% of the balls stolen by some child that left the facility so the game became impossible to accomplish. Many of the other games were equally in need of service because the electronics were not very responsive or registered a false activation. Very frustrating if you're trying to optimize game play for your child's tickets. Every skeeball machine was missing several balls and didn't register appropriately when you scored. Bottom line, none of the games that are worth playing for value optimization were functional. Had to settle for 5 tickets or less per game play no matter what you played. Not gonna comment on the food as we didn't order anything but regarding cleanliness, the staff didn't clean up after patrons or patrons didn't clean up after themselves so most table seating was dirty with leftover pizza platters. Not sure if they were understaffed or if this is typical for a Saturday but very disappointed. Will not be going back unless they fix these fairly major problems.
David B — Google review
We had a really fun time they moved a lot of the arcade games around. They have a new activity center with slides and trampolines. It is a little upsetting that you have to pay extra for that but I also understand given that they have to somehow keep track of the kids in there and for safety purposes. Some of their prices especially for the food is a little too high and kind of small for how much you're paying. Also the prizes are really high in tickets which is extremely hard to get considering that you can only get like a Max of 50 tickets for some of the games that you play. But my son loves it and we are going to have a birthday party so I'm hoping the birthday party is more worse the prices then just going for one time.

First time being here during a weekday around 3pm. Pros: The place wasn’t crowded and spaced out comfortably. I enjoyed how the games for toddlers were separate from those for older kids/adults. I enjoyed the convenience of ordering food through an app from our table and the pizza was good. The facility was extremely clean and well organized. Cons: We ended up waiting longer than we should have for our food. I had to track help down after 10mins of our pizza being late and there was confusion about where our food was and why it hadn’t came out. The pizza was small even though it was supposed to be a medium and it was expensive. My suggestion, make sure you eat before you go! The games seemed to last longer than the other C.C we were used to going to. The only issue i found was that our points were being taken faster. It was like some games zapped more points than others and i found it incredibly difficult to win tokens for my toddler even when he hit most targets. I’m not sure if this has been noticed by others. I’m basing my experience from another Pennsylvania C.C that we’ve been to 3 times in comparison to our first time here. The price for submitted tokens is incredibly expensive for the items. A tootsy-roll was over 100 tokens! These C.E.C prices food tickets, food and token prizes has gotten way out of control. Conclusion: Will i visit this establishment again? Most likely because of our toddler and i suggest going during the week.

Fun place! The duckpin bowling and driving range are awesome. Can't wait to go back when the weather gets nicer to try out the putt putt and go carts! Highly recommend for a fun night out.

Fantastic place for golfers of all levels! I’m just getting into golf and was searching for driving ranges in the area when I discovered this gem. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly polite and helpful—especially appreciated since it was my first visit. They took the time to explain how everything works, which made me feel right at home. The Toptracer technology is impressive—fun to use and seems quite accurate. I recommend downloading the Toptracer app ahead of time so you can save your scores and track your shots. It’s easy to connect with a quick QR scan at your bay. The facility offers both covered and uncovered bays. The covered bays are currently rented by the hour at reasonable rates. There’s also a mini golf course and a small bar/restaurant on site. If you’re at one of the covered bays, the servers will even come around to take food and drink orders while you play—great touch! Overall, it’s a welcoming and well-equipped spot for golfers new and experienced alike. I’m looking forward to coming back often!

We found this place on a whim when plans had to change. We are from Wilmington DE and I may make the hour drive to come here again! We played Mini golf and duck pin bowling, the kids did Go-Karts. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. My kids loved the Go karts and I loved that nearly every hole of mini golf had shade somewhere to stand. Only change I would make is the entry needs to be bigger, it was very crowded and confusing when we got there. Maybe have a map layout of the place up on the wall for reference and prices listed somewhere. Thanks for a fun Saturday!

We originally planned to play 18 holes at a real course, but the rain sent us to Golf Zone Family Fun Center instead—and it was a great choice! The covered driving range with heated bays was fantastic, and the experience is just like Topgolf but at a much better price. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the mini golf course was in great shape too. Had a blast with my friends and can’t wait to go back!

Staff was incredible and kind. They were very accommodating with the service dealing with the suite. The entire party had a great time and felt appreciated throughout the experience.

Nice place to practice your golf game in the event you can't play, but don't fall victim to the restaurant that's there. There are many more places within a half hours drive that have a far better menu, way better service, and better pricing. Go there to hit golf balls and save your appetite for another venue.

What a fantastic experience at Golf Zone! My wife and I visited Golf Zone to get fitted for new golf clubs. I got a new driver and irons) and my wife purchased wedges and a 6 wood. Both Harry Hammond and his assistant pro, Levy, were amazing. They had a private booth set up and they expertly guided us towards the clubs that got us the most accuracy and distance for each of our abilities. As we were hitting balls each of them also provided valuable swing tips to help improve our game. We tried all types of clubs to narrow down the BEST ONES for us. We spent atleast 90 minutes with the fitting and the orders were placed. Within a couple of weeks or so our clubs arrived at Golf Zone. Both gents greeted us when we arrived and we were allowed to hit some balls to test our clubs. It was a joy to swing the clubs and using the Top Tracer technology to confirm, I gained big yardage/distance on my driver! My irons felt great and the improved accuracy and distance was immediate and very noticeable. My wife took a bit of getting used to her 6 wood so Levy stopped by the booth to give her some pointers and explain the club to her. She is thrilled with her 6 wood now. When her wedges are delivered she will test them out. Harry and Levy are true professionals that focus not only on helping people get better at golf but making sure the experience and club quality are first rate. We have golfed for 55 years and….we will tell you they are the best at what they do! The Golf Zone is a must for getting fitted, buying new clubs, great atmosphere, fantastic food and drinks, too. Also, Golf Zone also has a great mini putt course and Go Karts for kids and adults! You can easily spend an entire day at The “Zone” if you wanted to. You will be glad you did! Thanks Harry and Levy!!!! Sincerely GL and PL (Customers for life!)
