Museum Holstentor is a fully restored Medieval gate in Lubeck, Germany, which now houses a museum dedicated to the city's history. Dating back to 1477, this iconic Gothic-style gate marks the western end of the former Hanseatic City and is recognized as one of the most visited sites in the country. The gate features two rounded towers and a block in the middle that appear as a single structure from one side but can be differentiated from another.
Beautiful, historic, serene place to walk around. Lots of transport nearly, you can get here but a bus or the main Lubeck central station is about a 5 minute walk only. Recommended..!

You see this old building when you enter the city. It gives a fairytale vibe. I really like the ambiance. Also i took pictures in the evening.

It's a beautiful historic monument. Must visit if you would love to learn about the Hanseatic trade links and regime.

Such a beautiful and iconic landmark, rich in history and picture perfect. Highly recommend the museum❤️
Annie — Google review
The Holstentor is such a wonderful landmark which luckily survived to the modern age. The inside holds a nice little museum with different themed rooms and also a rather beautiful model of the medieval city.
Klaus W — Google review
A must see in Lübeck and a beautiful entrance to the old town. The Museum is small but also worth a visit if you have time.
T F — Google review
Night visit was great time to get photos without ppl dressed in red☺️

Unique experience. I would definitely recommend especially if you are from outside of the EU. There were lots of interesting artifacts inside the museum. There are lots of steep, winding stairs inside so if you have mobility issues, you wouldn't enjoy this.

Lübeck Cathedral, also known as the Church of St. Mary, is a magnificent example of Brick Gothic architecture located in Lübeck, Germany. Founded in 1173 and reconstructed after being bombed in 1942, it stands as a testament to the city's historical and cultural significance. The cathedral boasts twin spires that rise nearly 400 feet high and is adorned with captivating details such as stone-carved skeletons at St.
A lovely cathedral. We came at 3 Pm on a weekday and got in for free. We came just in time for the clock to strike 3, at three a figure on the clock started striking a bell (see attached video). The other churches had more color inside but this one is larger and has a lot of gold and decor. The churches in Lübeck remind me a lot of the churches in Riga, probably because they where both part of the Hansa trade league. I do recommend. -Roberts Kalejs

I tried 3 times to visit in Lubeck cathedral unsuccessfully! it should be open all of the times but the two had some kind of event or mass and the third was completely closed! Very disappointing!
Maria A — Google review
The big church in the center of Lubac. It's a pity that we didn't get there in time because the church was closing, so we didn't get to go inside. I think it must be very beautiful.
TUMNOY T — Google review
Lübeck Cathedral, also known as Lübecker Dom, is a stunning example of brick Gothic architecture with deep historical roots. The high vaulted ceilings and peaceful interior create a quiet, awe-inspiring atmosphere. Unlike some of the city’s more crowded attractions, this cathedral offers a calm space for reflection and appreciation of medieval design. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a moment of serenity in the heart of Lübeck.

Salzspeicher, located in the picturesque city of Lubeck, is a collection of Renaissance-style salt storehouses built between 1579 and 1745 along the River Trave. These iconic brick structures are a testament to the city's rich trading heritage and Gothic architecture. Originally used for storing salt, an important food preservative and trade commodity, Salzspeicher now stands as a historic site showcasing its towering red brick exterior.
The Salzspeicher in Lübeck are indeed a must-see! These historic Gothic-style warehouses, located along both sides of the Trave River, were once used to store salt—a key commodity in the Middle Ages that helped Lübeck flourish as part of the Hanseatic League. Their distinctive red-brick architecture is a stunning example of Gothic design, and strolling by them is completely free, making it a perfect stop for visitors. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Lübeck!
Maria A — Google review
Lübeck’s medieval architecture is stunning, with its famous red-brick Gothic buildings and narrow streets. The Holstentor, a well-preserved city gate, is a key highlight. You can wander the old town for free, exploring churches, quaint shops, and cobblestone streets. Depending on your interest, you could spend a full day here exploring the city’s rich history and beautiful architecture.
Vikash P — Google review
This is a collection of 6 old style houses. All were refurbished and the skinny one is of most interest in that the windows are all sagged. Very interesting.
C N — Google review
Very scenic and photogenic spot in Lübeck! The warehouses used to store salt a high commodity during its time! Make sure to cross the river for best views!
Virginia L — Google review
These mediaeval salt storehouses on the Trave River's banks are magnificent examples of Brick Gothic architecture; a salt storehouse is a true architectural gem! Originally, enormous amounts of salt were stored here, which was used for food preservation and as a significant commodity in commerce. The houses, constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries, stored salt mined near Lüneburg and carried to Lübeck via the Stecknitz Canal. The salt was then shipped to a number of ports. Salt was of tremendous economic importance to Lübeck during the time, contributing greatly to the city's prosperity. It is a tourist destination, and the town is surrounded by gorgeous architecture. There are many cafes, restaurants, shopping malls and so on. Lübeck has a beautiful and picturesque landscape! Salt warehouses were used to store salt, which was a valuable commodity at the time! Make careful you cross the river for the finest scenery! If you are visiting Lübeck, be sure to stop by the stroll area, where you can wander around and explore the attractions while also enjoying refreshments. You could also go boating. You can also have coffee and go sightseeing. There are plenty excellent restaurants and bars nearby where you may enjoy some delicious cuisine. I highly recommend!!!
Living E — Google review
These historical salt storehouses standing on the banks of the Trave River are impressive examples of Brick Gothic architecture, which is characteristic of many buildings in Lübeck. With their imposing facades, tall gables, and numerous decorations, such a salt storehouse is an architectural gem! Originally, large quantities of salt were stored here, which was used for food preservation and as a significant commodity for trade. Salt was of great economic importance to Lübeck at that time and contributed significantly to the wealth of the city.💚! PS. On the opposite shore are some great cafes, there you can wonderfully while enjoying a drink🍺☕🍷, for example, these salt stores quite cozy in sight...
Thai L — Google review
The salt storehouses are six historic brick buildings on the Upper Trave River next to the Holstentor. They were built in the 16th–18th centuries and they stored salt that was mined near Lüneburg and brought to Lübeck over the Stecknitz Canal. The salt was then shipped to several ports in the Baltic region.

NOSFERATU!!! Apart from being beautiful, the place means a lot to those of us who are lovers of horror movies. Wismar and Lübeck are famous on a cinematographic level because the movie NOSFERATU (year 1922) was filmed in these cities. So, as a result of its 100th anniversary, I wanted to know several places where the film was filmed, and in the case of Lübeck, I started with the old salt warehouse, a place with Gothic / Baltic architecture, and very important between the 16th and 18.

Located in the picturesque city of Lubeck, Germany, Günter Grass House is a must-visit for literature enthusiasts and those intrigued by the mind of a Nobel laureate. The museum offers exhibitions on the life and work of the German writer within his former workspace, showcasing literary artifacts such as his first typewriter. Additionally, visitors can explore Grass' non-literary pursuits like sculpturing, painting, and drawing.
I came there actually for Bryan Adams' photos exhibition. Not far from the Holstentor (ca. 1 km). Recommended for visitors who likes smaller, cozy, and more personal museum. The exhibition rooms consisted of (1) space of retelling the life of Günter Grass (2) garden, exhibits his sculpture/visual arts (I found it cool) (3) a 'transition room' (where we should put our jacket in a cabinet) (4) a room of his graphic design/literary works/his tools (true artists beyond borders) (5) 2nd floor, where Bryan Adams' exhibition is taking place (until 7.1.2024) The entrance ticket, personally, was quite pricy (€8) without discount (I got the student discount though, so it's fine). But, you could visit a second museum (valid for 3 days) for half-price. So, better plan it. Plus, the personals there were quite friendly.
Vity K — Google review

Nestled in the charming city of Lübeck, Brauberger zu Lübeck is a vibrant brewery that beautifully marries traditional German cuisine with an impressive selection of craft beers. This bustling establishment boasts a cozy cellar and inviting outdoor tables, making it an ideal spot for both locals and travelers seeking a hearty meal after exploring the medieval streets.
It's a good place. I was recommended to go there by my local friends. They have a good selection of craft beers. And traditional meat dishes. I had the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. I'd be happy to come back, especially for the beer.
Peter J — Google review
The initial welcome from one staff member was not so warm as we didn't have a reservation, it felt like we were an inconvenience. We sat happily in the beer garden, lucky to be under an umbrella and out of the rain unlike some other tables. Once seated the food, drink and service were good.
Katy W — Google review
A traditional pub with good kitchen in the center of the city. The staff is untrained and uninterested. We were served beer twice as the waiters are not coordinating their work. The basement is touristy with replicas of historical objects. The kitchen closes at 10. No food after that. Small garden but lot of places inside on 3 levels.
Andrea P — Google review
The waitress was the best, the food was very, very good. I would definitely come back. The restrooms were clean, as was the rest of the establishment.
Steve S — Google review
Very nice restaurant. Have their own beers, all very good. Good food. Cool interior. Friendly and helpful staff.
Geir R — Google review
A good place to try delicious craft beer and national dishes. Be prepared for the fact that the dishes are very large, the waiters are not too hasty and the kitchen closes about 1.5 hours before the establishment closes. prices are normal.
Виктория Б — Google review
A popular bar, recommend to book in advance. Food is ok but not exactly impressive. The goulash soup was quite salty. I have a feeling that this place is understaffed as it takes ages to get the waiter.
Huixin Z — Google review
We have been coming here for the last 15 years. Over the years the quality of the food has been declining. This time was the worst. The schnitzel Wiener Art was really dry and almost looked like is was not home made and some of the fried potatoes were not even cooked through properly. All of us were really disappointed. This was the last time we will visit unfortunately.

The Buddenbrookhaus, located at Mengstrasse 4, is a museum that was once the home of Thomas Mann's family. It is now dedicated to showcasing the lives and works of the renowned writer and his brother Heinrich. The museum provides visitors with an opportunity to delve into the world of these literary figures through various exhibits and artifacts. Additionally, it offers insights into the historical context in which they lived and created their masterpieces.
This is the place to visit if you're interested in the life and works of Thomas Mann as well as his siblings Heinrich and Erika. This museum is well organized and provides its visitors with lots of information. I found the juxtaposition of various film adaptations of BUDDENBROOKS particularly interesting (there's a small room on the 3rd floor where they can be watched in quiet). The gift shop offers you many (if not all) of major works (and some translations too), plus other memorabilia.
F T — Google review
The Museum website does not have any information regarding hours of operation and admission prices - how is one supposed to plan a visit!?
K. C — Google review
A place where there isn't only the history of a great man such was Thomas Mann, but also the history of a city, of a country during is pivotal moment of history.
Dorin R — Google review
The staff was very helpful and the exhibitions very interesting but was disappointed by the house itself as I expected it to have been reconstructed the way it was (like so many other places bombarded in WWII) ... only the original facade survived and the rest is just an ordinary block of concrete walls... 2 of the rooms in the house have been re created with furniture etc... and that is rather effective , with the view on st Maria church which gives a feeling for what it could have been like living there in the 19th century.
Vicki D — Google review
Somewhat disappointing. The subject matter is very interesting, but one gets lost in all the details, whereas the reflection of the lights in the glass cases and the small print doesn't help. Floor about the Buddenbrooks book was worth the visit though.
Jozias T — Google review
Didn't get the museum. You have to walk a certain way and read a lot, and watch Mann family chronicles printed on glass. There was a book reading upstairs.
Maria T — Google review
We dropped to Lubek just to visit this exhibition with such high expectations. I really like Thomas Mann as well as the novel Buddenbrooks. So I was really disappointed with such a small collection and unfriendly staff. Just a few information in English. Seemed to be an unwelcome guest.

Dietrich's is a great place to go for drinks, brunch and dinner. They have delicious cocktails, wine and beer and the staff is always welcoming. The bar can get busy so reservations are recommended. There are also some nice outdoor seating areas where you can relax in the summer.
I only came here for two cocktails, but they were both delicious! One was the Condesa, which was shockingly smooth and tasty. The second one was a bit more special, made with Danish Dill Aquavit. It was delicious, had a unique story/concept to it, and was expertly made by the man behind the bar. Great selection of spirits and a seemingly unending menu of options, as well. Perfect spot for a great cocktail in Lübeck.

Excellent and knowledgable bar keeper! Made our night. Great explanations and even a special creation based on a description of a flavour profile. You forget you are in Lübeck, and you could be in London, Hong Kong or Tokio!

Ideally located on the west of Lübeck, by the unmissable bridge Holstenbrücke, this tiny bar catches your eye by its beautiful décor and atmosphere. Seating at the bar, you can see the personnel cares and values quality and precision when assembling the drinks. I had four different cocktails, going various directions in terms of flavours and ingredients, and every one of them was excellent and showed subtlety in the way the flavours are brought together. A short conversation with one of the barmen proved the passion and willingness to further develop knowledge and recipes. This cocktail bar is an obligatory stop. And they speak English btw.

beautiful paintings and definitely worth a visit. though not knowing too much about art, i still enjoyed walking around and taking a look at the art pieces. the staff is incredibly friendly and i would definitely go there a second time whenever i come back to lübeck.

Small but interesting collection of 19th and 20th century art, mostly German, often withe relation to Lübeck, some Scandinavian. At the moment some exhibits from the Thomas Mann Museum in the Buddenbrookshaus which is under renovation.

This museum is small, and basically includes works of art. During the renovation of the Buddenbrooks museum, they held an exhibition on Thomas Mann and his family. This is very well done.

Beautiful paintings and friendly staff. This and Holsten Gate are the best museums on the one day pass in my opinion.

Original Edvard Munch (painter of the Scream) work here. Even more special: these Munch's were actually mad in Lubeck! Very interesting collection that ties in with its location. Also beautiful building.
Rebekka B — Google review
The size of the museum is just right, many beautiful paintings - both long-term and temporary exhibitions. No particularly famous paintings you know from textbooks but some less famous ones from famous artists (e.g. Kokoschka). I prefered the local artists though. The café offers a cozy and serene atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating under large trees. Visitors can enjoy excellent coffee and homemade bread, croissants, Eggs Benedict, and cashew pancakes. The baristas are highly skilled in creating delicious latte art and serving unique coffee drinks.
We went to this place on a Sunday. The atmosphere was perfect including by the fact that they are pet friendly. I ordered the menu pancakes and a moca: 10/10! I would recommend this place and I will comeback.

This restaurant/café is a solid spot for breakfast or brunch. I had the pancakes with cashew nuts, and they were good – definitely a generous portion. The pancakes were maybe a bit on the dry side, but with all the syrup it worked out fine.

Had the butter, cheese, and jam and scrambled egg breakfasts with unfiltered coffee. Beautiful presentation of both plates. Excellent bread with chewy exterior and springy interior. Coffee was very good.

This café is located in a very charming street in Lubeck innerstadt, they have an internal area and the external area is right next to St.-Aegidien-Kirche underneath large trees which makes it very quiet and extremely cozy! And they opens on Sundays YAY! The coffee - had an espresso and a filtered - was good but not great, specially considering the specialty coffee's world. The cheesecake was nice. The service, was good, although at peak moments things do take a little more time. Recently tasted their food and it was good overall. :)

Good espresso. The pastry was a little too sugary for me and a bit stale. I love the energy inside and the staff were very friendly. Lots of different seating too. I would probably come back for just regular savory food and coffee.

I had the most discriminatory and offensive experience at Strandsalon in Lübeck on 13/07/2024. My friends and I, who are foreigners with darker skin tones, were not allowed entry into the club simply because of our nationality and skin color. The bouncer gave us the ridiculous excuse that the party was only for police and fire brigade members, yet he allowed in all other people without question. This blatant discrimination is unacceptable and completely unjustifiable. It is disgraceful that in this day and age, a business would openly discriminate against customers based on their nationality and skin color. I would strongly advise against visiting Strandsalon if you are not a member of the police or fire brigade and do not have a fair complexion, as apparently they are the only ones welcome at this establishment. Discrimination based on nationality and skin color has no place in society, and it is truly disappointing to see it practiced so openly at this club. Stay far away from Strandsalon if you value inclusivity and fairness for all individuals, regardless of their background.

wanted to watch the football european championship there. prior to the game we called -to aksed if the game we wanted to see would show. -that was confirmed that they woul show it. As arrived they switched the screen between 2 qualification games . so the would not show a normal whole game but every 4 -5 minutes they showed--changed to an other game. for me as a footbal fan I could not follow a normal Total Match. On request they would not adjust the choice to show it. so me and the team of fans I watched it with we left. 1 star because on the investigative call - 1 day before they said ---"jawohl we show it. " and NO they did not show the whole match . also only 1 bar open.. with a waiting time of over 5 minutes to get your -drinks- beer. for me bad experience !! left at half time - before getting the 'Pfand" back on the cups- glasses also took 5 minutes . because was given false information and if you know it is gonna busy open more then 1 bar with 1 slow bar person. would not !! recomend this place to go to.

Fangfrisch is a modern restaurant in Lubeck that follows a simple philosophy of serving fresh regional seafood cuisine. The cafe offers a delightful seafood feast with an interior featuring rustic wood tables, traditional brick walls, metro tiles, and pendant lighting. They use fresh fish from Travemunde and buns from Lubeck to prepare the perfect North German fish roll.
Great food. I loved the salmon burger. The fish and chips looked great. They had their own pilsner and locally made sodas. The staff was really nice and friendly, he even made a few jokes. A popular fish place. I came at 17:30 and managed to get a table without reservation. Staffs are friendly. I ordered a nordic starter with Kiel fish, cod & chips and a small beer and it costed €50. The dishes are fine but I would expect better considering the price. They provide vinegar too for the fish & chips (in case you want it as UK style.. like me). Btw, they have a take away place across the street as well.

Great place for dinner!!!! Out back in the garden is a fantastic spot. The only problem was the lack of air movement. And being tight for my mother in law to push her walker around. Food was really really good!!! Had the lamb lasagna!!! Fantastic!! The only little problem with the service was the lack of enthusiasm. Almost like a mute processional robot.

Loved the atmosphere of this place—elegant, warm, and cozy. Very nice and friendly service. We had crispy shrimps 🦐, which were absolutely delicious, and burrata 🧀, which was okay, as our appetizers. For the main dish, I got pea and mint stuffed ravioli 🥟 — loved it. My friend had pappardelle 🍝, but the pasta was unevenly cooked — some parts were al dente while others were soft. Overall though the experience was pleasant :>
Perissimo — Google review
Today we visited your bar for the first time. I had been eyeing it during my vacation, and we finally decided to stop by for a glass of wine and a snack. We initially ordered the artichokes with pesto verde, and my husband ordered the garlic baguette. The waiter asked if he wanted it with or without pesto, and we clearly said WITHOUT. Later, it turned out we were served sourdough bread instead of a baguette. Apparently, there’s just sourdough bread with or without pesto – we were not heard, but we didn’t bother mentioning it anymore. Then my artichokes arrived – without pesto. They were simply fermented artichokes with spices (the pink peppercorns were really overpowering – not a fan). Later, I reread the menu and saw it clearly said pesto verde. I asked the waiter about it, and he said: “There’s not supposed to be pesto. It’s artichokes that taste like pesto.” That’s when I completely lost it. I clarified that when people read pesto verde they will expect actual pesto, not just some kind of pesto flavour (which, by the way, I didn’t taste at all – and I’ve been working as a chef for over 6 years, so I was starting to think I was going crazy). Then on the bill, we saw a completely different artichoke item at a different price (thank you for that, really, because I nearly choked at the thought of paying full price for something I didn’t receive – and on top of that, being told it’s supposed to taste like pesto? Much appreciated). At the end, my husband asked for the bill (note: no one asked how we’d like to pay), and later our dear waiter approached us with a wallet. When we said we’d pay by card, he responded – with an annoyed tone – “Well then, come with me to the register.” My husband later told me there was a mobile terminal all along. So now I’m left wondering: what’s going on with your staff’s communication skills? Somehow it felt like we were the ones at fault – but no, that’s absolutely not the case. I’m thoroughly disappointed with the service and how my last evening in the beautiful city of Lübeck turned out. I’ve seen amazing hospitality everywhere else I’ve been here – but this was a total letdown. It’s long overdue to understand: it doesn’t matter who walks into your place or how much they spend – you should always be a friend to your guests. That’s what hospitality is about. I truly wanted to end my evening on a joyful, sparkling note over a couple glasses of prosecco, but I ended up heading back to my hotel, drinking in the lobby bar where kind people work – and writing this unpleasant review. By the way, the bread was actually excellent.

Fantastic inner yard where we dined, my tagliatelle with chanterelles that got covered with 70 month parmigiano directly in the parmesan wheel was to die for! Everything was cooked to perfection with great care of the foods.
Andreas T — Google review
Service was good and the order came fast. It’s a nice environment and the tables outside under the sun makes it a nice experience. Nice thing is that you can order from the two different restaurants at the same place, Miera and the one of the handmade pasta in front of it. Sauce was delicious, meat was juicy and soft, and the pasta was delicious! Tip for the establishment: allow customers to tip employees with card payment. The staff make a good job 👍🏼 Offer also a printed menu. Your website is nice but as you have too many options it’s bot nice to look for it on the phone as the letters are too small. Poor elderly customers.
Bruno P — Google review
Cute, yet deceptively large restaurant in the city center. Reservations are recommended but I always seem to get lucky just walking in. In and outside dining with the owner fluttering about checking in on tables and keeping the energy up. Food is delicious and super fresh, just finished my 2nd time there and next time I’m in lübeck I’ll make it my 3rd.
StewartGerard — Google review
Really amazing experience. Private space is always appealing for me. Food was very delicious, This was a vegan or vegetarian main course (My bad- I forget). A combination of various mushroom with special sauce was very tasty. A cocktail in a rage of 9-11 Euros. My order 3 course menu: Started with good range of starter dish (well decorated-and appreciable taste, included a red meat, chicken, fish - on which I can't say, exotic vegetables, some breads with dips etc.) Main course of 24-26 Euros ended with the espresso coffee. I haven't had space for special desert. Per person it can range from 50-70 Euros. I strongly recommend this restaurant for all purpose event (we were 6-7 persons). Staff speak English. Only strange part was that they requested us to leave after 2-2:30 hours. I am not sure if it is common practice in Germany. This is ridiculous and embracing in my home country. That can be clarify at the time of booking. Overall experience was amazing.
Vyom S — Google review
We had a nice dinner here, but a few things took some joy off the general feeling. The food was very good, the Spanish pizza was the highlight, with a great combination of beef, cheese and marmalade, the giant ravioli were unique and the pasta with beef was well made, but besides the pizza which was fairly priced at 12,00 the other dishes were overpriced to our taste, considering portions and all in all worth. Wine glass at 10,00 was also somewhat exaggerated, so had those prices were 10-20% lower, we'd find it more adequate. Service was partly professional, by one (seem to be main) waiter, but a secondary waiter has served food touching it with his fingers, which is practically unacceptable... Atmosphere is pleasant, décor is vivid and vintage style. Reservation is advised, in case you want the upper restaurant.

Was there late for drinks with group. Beer tasted like water, cocktail selection was poor and the ones we got wasn't worth drinking.
Thomas H — Google review
Unfortunately a terrible experience. Waited a long time to order and when the food then finally arrived it was only for one of us at the table. We assumed the other dish would come shortly after but no. After waiting for another 15-20 minutes we then asked the waiter where our food was. She was surprised but claimed it wasnt her section and refered to another waiter that she had to ask. After another 5 minutes she said she couldn’t find this “Anna” waiter and instead of just claiming some responsibility she asked us to go inside to pay as we had now asked for the bill because we didnt want to wait no more. We ofcourse explained that we did not want to pay for a dish we never received which was okay but at no time no one ever apologized for the poor service.

The Hospital of the Holy Spirit, located in Koberg square in Lubeck's northern Jakobi Quarter, is one of the oldest social institutions globally. Established in 1286 and secularized after the Reformation, it served as a refuge for the city's poor, elderly, and sick residents who lived a near-monastic life. The hospital provided food, shelter, and warm baths to its inhabitants until the 1960s.
No charge to enter, donation recommended. Amazing history and fascinating to see. This is a fast stop as you are exploring Lübeck since you only have access to the front areas of the old hospital. Just marvel at the wonderfully preserved entrance hall and look into the large infirmary.

A hospital created in the Middle Age by rich people of the city to help “people of lesser luck” who were dependent on help and alms. These type of good acts will help the richer people to get a place in heaven. The church hall is very beautiful and you can see there also a model of the building that helps to understand the layout of the hospital where the beds were, the cemetery…

Nestled in the heart of Lübeck, Buddha Bowl is a delightful haven for lovers of Asian cuisine. This cozy restaurant, located just steps from St. Peter's Church, offers an inviting atmosphere with both indoor seating and a charming terrace. Guests can indulge in an array of housemade sushi options—ranging from sashimi to tempura rolls—each beautifully presented to showcase the chef's artistic flair.
A lot of great choices to Eat, drink and have dessert. I personally recommend their ice cream, fair portion. Great selection of fresh vegetables and tasty beer. Clean spaces and ready to use outdoor seating, even outside of the main season. Cozy and interestingly lit restrooms.

Flying Shanghai noodles was epic. amazingly tasty crispy duck with tasty sauce. I definitely recommend.🙌 Vegetarian sushi - veggie crispy rolls was good too, tasty mango lassi. for desert we ordered tiramisu and it was good. polite and very fast service, beautiful ambiance. I definitely recommend this place 🤌

My summer rolls and papaya salad were surprisingly good! Everything was fresh, authentic and tasty, far better than many of the Vietnamese restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Really nice place with huge portions. I ordered the butterfish, and what I really loved about this dish is that it came with lots of good veggies such as asparagus, broccoli and snow peas, and not just a massive amount of rice like you normally get in other places, which made the dish a lot healthier and tastier.

The quality of the food here is awesome 👍👍..the quantity is huge...and the taste is really good..you will love the ambience here..I would suggest people to come here if you want to have Vietnamese food...

Very friendly staff, very accomodation. We got the food really quickly which was great as we were really hungry. Loads of salmon in the California roll. The pho was great, we had a coconut curry and flying noodles.

Great asian fusion restaurant. I had on different days nigiri sushi (tuna and anago), some grilled fish and miso soup. I was also with colleagues who were all happy with their meal. The flying noodle dish was especially entertaining. All of us appreciated the amount of food served, and the generous portion of vegetables served with their bowls. Recommended.

We came up with this place because we arrived late and it was the only one that had the kitchen open. Food is really good, with big plates and good variety and quality. The service is also very nice, always smiling and making your stay pleasant. For sure it's a place I would recommend to have dinner if you are staying in Lübeck.

Nestled in the heart of Lubeck, Bei Ulla is a beloved local establishment offering traditional German cuisine and a wide selection of excellent beers. This popular spot is frequented by both locals and tourists seeking an authentic German pub experience. The friendly and attentive staff are always ready to greet you with a smile. Specializing in the classic currywurst, this venue also offers delectable schnitzel options including pork and turkey.
We went there twice while in Lubeck. The Schnitzel was fantastic, both the pork and the turkey. Service was great the first night because the server was happy to speak English to us. The second night the server said “no English” and didn’t seem to want to deal with us. Great food, but you better know some German.

Pork with toast was something new for me but I liked it. I especially liked the mushrooms that came with it. The kid’s meal had salad together with it which is something we never got from the other restaurants. Service was good and food waiting was reasonable. Also, no extra payment in using their toilet.

Recommend this old school place in city center. It's not on the tourist radar, more for locals. Mostly meats, but also some soup, salad and dish dishes. I has currywurst. Service a little slow, but its a small place so it's ok. Dogs welcome inside and out. Friendly staff.

Awful slow service. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food! Ordering time before that was additional 15 minutes and we were luckily fast because the menu list was already at our tables. However, the restaurant was only averagely visited at this evening. The waitress informed us in advance about "an expected waiting time of 45 minutes"... Also to be mentioned, the local people seemed to know the long waiting times and thus only ordered drinks and smoked outside directly next to our table. As a non-smoking group this was annoying. We definitely will not come back here and cannot recommend it if you expect to leave soon again. The food was okay and the portions of average size.

The Passat, an elegant four-masted sailing ship launched in 1911, is a true gem of maritime history. Docked in the picturesque Travemünde Port since 1960, this majestic vessel has braved the treacherous waters around Cape Horn nearly forty times. Today, it stands as a nautical emblem of the Baltic town and offers guided tours during the summer months.
Visiting the Viermastbark Passat in Travemünde was an unforgettable experience. This historic sailing ship, beautifully preserved, offers a fascinating glimpse into maritime history. Walking across its wooden decks, you can almost feel the spirit of the sailors who once crossed oceans aboard her. The ship’s interior is well-maintained and filled with interesting exhibits, making it both educational and enjoyable. The view of the harbor from the deck is stunning, especially at sunset. I truly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in ships, history, or simply a unique experience by the sea.
Faisal H — Google review
Beautiful ship, with a pretty nice exhibition about its history. Unfortunately the back part of the ship was closed due to renovation, but a big part of the rest of the ship is available to public. Also very pleasant is the translation of nearly all exhibition signs/info into English.

It’s closed out of season but still interesting to see from the other side of the bay.. also a great area for walks 🚶🏽‍♀️
Lara L — Google review
This is a must go for sailing enthusiasts and people with kids. On board, a thorough and rich exhibition shows all aspects of the fast-sailing transatlantic trade and life on board. Passat is a very big and impressive sailing ship. Don't miss it when you are in the region.

Great looking 4 mast classic ship, however so much construction, you can barely get there. Nonetheless it should be worth it. Definitely check the opening times as they are sometimes closed and they have "main seasons" as well as "lesser seasons". When open you can tour the ship and even spend the night in one of several choices of accomodations.

Kaffeehaus Lübeck is a charming coffeehouse located in a historic brick-lined building dating back to the 13th century. It offers a delightful selection of freshly prepared breakfasts, delectable cakes, and chocolates from its in-house manufactory. The cafe prides itself on its freshly roasted specialty coffees, providing visitors with a unique coffee experience.
Super nice cafe, cosy vibes and nice decor. The staff were super friendly and patient even though we were struggling to order in German/English. If you’re a health conscious person, this is a great place to come! They allow you to customise your food according to your needs. The scrambled eggs usually comes without butter, but you can request for it. The matcha latte also comes without sugar or syrup! The scrambled eggs and bagel were great! Simple, home-made and tasty. The Panini with smoked salmon was a unique flavour. It had sour notes from the pickled jam, smokey flavour and umami notes from the salmon. It was surprising to taste at first but once you get used to it, its really great!

Went for coffee and cake after lunch. My wife had the marzipan cake and loved it while I chose poorly, a cinnamon roll. Nothing wrong with the roll just a bad choice. The actual coffee was good, my wife’s Americano was very good but my cappuccino was below average, i think it was the milk that let it down.

Kaffeehaus was my absolute favorite cafe in Lübeck, in the past 2 years I go there almost every week to read, to work or to socialize. I love their cakes however cant say the same thing for the drinks anymore. In the past 3 visits unfortunately our drinks were in very poor taste and quality. My husband loves Americano however it was way too sour than normal and even though we asked some milk ( twice actually) we ended up not getting it. My last order was iced matcha latte, it came with only 3 ice cubes ( almost no matcha inside at all) and they melted so quick and the drink was very warm and watery. I asked some more ice and ended up getting another 3 ice cubes 🥲And last time we waited for our cakes almost until we finished our drinks- again we friendly reminded service staff in case they forget , she kind of give us eye rolls. I am so sad but I don’t think I will visit there anymore. I love they always have young staff and good environment right in the heart of the town however I am not getting what I am paying for anymore.

The food and coffee choice is pretty good, the place is located in the nice area. On the downside: The roots of feld salat weren't washed. I could still see the dirt on them. There were no napkins on the table (common issue with German restaurants). They forgot to bring bacon to my eggs so I had to wait for about 10 minutes while they were getting cold. Things to consider guys :)

Nestled on Huxstrasse, this restaurant offers an inviting ambiance that transports you to a vacation vibe year-round, whether you're seated at the bar, in the winter garden, or outside in the spacious courtyard. Guests rave about the generous portion sizes and reasonable prices, making it an excellent choice for satisfying meals without breaking the bank.
Stumbled upon this Italian restaurant while walking through the Hüxstraße in Lübeck. But. Big surprise awaited us inside. The restaurant has excellent ambiance and very open seating arrangement. At the time we reached it had most tables vacant. The staff is very helpful and guided us well. The food is tasty with big portion size. And yes, the rates are really very reasonable.

Not impressed. The same dishes can be found better and cheaper elsewhere. To be fair, the pasta dish was fine - but overpriced. The other dish, the potato dish was sad. We waited a long time to get the food. Who seemed to be the non-working owner of the place’s friends were seated at the table next to us - we arrived shortly before them and they managed to get and finish their dinner before we got ours. On a positive note, the outdoor area seems cozy for a day with better weather. But we’ll find another place next time.

A isolated cozy restaurant in Hüxstrasse. Where you can escape from the crowd window shopping people. The cheeseburger was very nice and the portions were decent. The employee was friendly.

We randomly walked into this restaurant, and since we were very hungry, we were pleasantly surprised. The portions were very filling and the price-performance ratio was excellent. Also, the Turkish waiter (a man) took great care of us, and we would like to thank him especially.

Don’t waste your money. We waited almost an hour for our food. We asked about it, and the waiter went to check. Two minutes later, he came back with the food, which was almost cold. A boring pizza and a carbonara made with loads of cream. The place itself is cozy, and our waiter was actually quite friendly, but he seemed very busy. We were very disappointed with the food and the lack of service. We noticed another couple sent back their food and left, and other customers were also waiting a Long time for food.

Located in a charming complex of five Medieval brick buildings, the Lübeck Museum of Theatre Puppets houses a remarkable collection of puppets and puppeteering props spanning 300 years from Europe, Africa, and Asia. Assembled by Fritz Fey, a renowned puppeteer, the private collection offers insight into various cultures through Indian legends, Chinese social mores, and African tribal rituals embodied by the puppets.

(Translated by Google) We spontaneously visited the Puppet Theater and Museum on July 20th after discovering it during a stroll through town. The museum opened just a few weeks ago and offers an overview of puppet theater in Europe, Africa, and Asia on four floors. Not only are there a multitude of lovingly prepared exhibits, but also multimedia presentations and interactive elements at almost every station. For example, you can try your hand at controlling marionettes, rod puppets, or hand puppets (which aren't easy at all). The exhibition rooms are integrated into a historic building and still exude a sense of newness. The floors are connected not only by stairs but also accessible by elevator. There are numerous lockers and restrooms at the entrance. The staff at the ticket office are friendly and extremely helpful and offer tips for visiting the museum. Depending on how intensively you want to devote yourself to the exhibits, you can easily spend an hour or an hour and a half in the museum. Considering the quality of the presentation, the admission price of €12 (regular adult price) is reasonable. We took the opportunity to secure tickets for the puppet show "The Rider on the White Horse" in a few days and are really looking forward to it.

(Translated by Google) We were impressed; we happened upon it more by chance, and we highly recommend a visit. The puppet theater stretches over three floors (also accessible by elevator). It offers a wonderful insight into the world of the puppeteer... presented through the puppets, videos, and stories. You also have the opportunity to breathe life into the puppets yourself by getting hands-on... a great idea, and fun. You get a lot of information from the staff, and they're very friendly. Our next goal is to attend a performance.

(Translated by Google) A few years ago, before the building was renovated, we visited this doll museum and were thrilled by the building, the loving presentations, and the many, sometimes unusual, figures and dolls. In July, we spontaneously wanted to visit this doll museum again with friends. Unfortunately, the doll museum was closed. Apparently, the museum is only open Friday to Sunday. What I personally regret is the changed appearance of the building's facade. Where there used to be windows with three crossbars, modern windows with only one crossbar have been installed. Likewise, the two roof dormers, without crossbars, are inappropriate for a building that is several centuries old – what a shame!

Park
Dräger Park is a serene spot located along the banks of River Wakenitz, offering a range of activities for visitors. The natural open-air pool, Marli, features a three-meter diving board, water slides, and options to rent paddleboards and canoes. Additionally, there are ample picnic areas, a spacious playground for children to enjoy, and a kiosk selling refreshments.
It is one of the biggest parks in Lübeck. Mu favorite part is the wasserspielplatz in which children can have fun in the summer. Great place for a picknick.

It is rather big and lot of different playing activities for the kids. The only downside is that half the time you can't see your kids because there are lot of playing equipment that is not directly under the eye. Lot of books and corners there.

(Translated by Google) Café Ulrich's in Lübeck is a fascinating place that seamlessly combines history and contemporary flair. Located right at the foot of the impressive St. Mary's Church, it offers wonderful views and an atmosphere that is both historic and modern - perfect for a relaxing afternoon in the old town. The café is part of a diaconal project, which is reflected in the warm and welcoming nature of the staff and management. The friendliness and commitment of the team make every visit particularly pleasant. The selection of cakes is large, although it would be nice if vegan options were also offered, as these are currently lacking. The coffee is very good and also available with oat milk. Particularly noteworthy is the suitability of the rooms for family celebrations. The rooms offer enough space and a suitable atmosphere for special occasions. Overall, Café Ulrich's is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to experience modern gastronomy in a historic ambience.

A visit to the historic town center surrounding St. Lawrence Church from the 16th century is worthwhile. The harbor, one of the largest ferry ports in Northern Europe, offers a lively spectacle of big and small ships, which can be observed from land or experienced by taking a harbor tour on the Trave river.
This New Gothic style church has very interesting history. It was built in 1898-1900 year in place of church from XVII century. That previous church was built on the plague graveyard in 1597- one of the years of the plague.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel in a suite for 5 nights. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable. The toilet had a bit of a sewer smell but not bad. I didn't enjoy trying to figure out the light switches. The spa was lovely and peaceful. The main restaurant food was delicious.

My Honest Review – A Mix of Good and Disappointing Experiences I’ve stayed at many hotels and visited many destinations around the world. I’ve experienced some truly excellent accommodations — but I was quite surprised by this hotel. Despite paying a fairly high price for the room, there was no coffee machine, no kettle, no complimentary coffee or tea, and not even any cups or mugs in the room. If you want coffee maker, you have to purchase it — but not even available to purchase for us!!! which is quite disappointing for a hotel in this price range. I honestly didn’t expect such a basic service to be missing. This was my first time staying at this hotel. Normally, when I stay at a quality hotel, someone helps carry the luggage to the room. But here, we had to carry everything ourselves — no staff assistance was offered at all. I understand that some hotels in Europe, even 4-5 stars, may not offer porter service, but for a hotel of this standard, it’s something that should definitely be available. Frankly, the lack of a coffee maker, kettle, and cups was very disappointing and unacceptable. I strongly suggest the hotel improve this aspect. That said, there were also some positive points: the room was clean, comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. For Asian travelers: be aware that in Germany, if you want to use the sauna, you are required to be completely nude — otherwise, you won’t be allowed to enter. This might come as a cultural shock, so I suggest the hotel consider offering private or modest options if they want to welcome more international guests.
Narissa F — Google review
A great location minutes to the beach from you room. Spa is great the hot tub is the only thing I can say was not great as it was very shallow. The relaxation pool was a way better option breakfast buffet is great with a huge selection best to arrive earlier as it gets busy
Dan W — Google review
Very nice classic hotel with wellness and mixed spa area. The surroundings have not much to offer. The bar area have an awful bad acoustic they have to do something about, as people cant either talk or even hear the music (a pianist when we where at the place) so most people lieve or go to ther room.
Tore C — Google review
The hotel is really beautiful, rooms, spa area. We spent there really nice time. Breakfast was really good with a wide range of choices, also healthy bio options. I hope we will visit this place again.
Magdalena M — Google review
This was our second visit, we had a voucher to redeem, and overall it was a pleasant stay. The wellness area was great, the food was not bad, and staff were friendly throughout. However, checkout felt a bit impersonal — the receptionist didn’t ask about our experience and went straight to the invoice. For the room price, we expected a more thoughtful farewell.
Wendy T — Google review
Really good hotel with very service minded staff. The hotel has a nice spa departement with a few differens saunas. The food is good and there are lot to choose from. It is possible to charge the car for 7 euros for 6 hours, a very reasonable price. However, parking in the hotel park area, is a bit on the expensive side. We can easily come again.

When in Lubeck, a visit to the Marzipanmuseum Niederegger is a must. Established in 1806, this museum celebrates the rich history and art of marzipan production that has made the city famous. The exhibits showcase intricate sculptures crafted entirely from marzipan, including impressive creations like castles, ships, and life-sized figures.
Incredible. If you like marzipan just go here without question. Large selection of cakes, candies, rolls, everything with marizpan, cafe on the second floor I recommend booking in advance if you want a nice table.
B. — Google review
The Marzipan Museum is more of a huge shop than an actual museum, packed with marzipan, chocolate, and cakes. Upstairs there’s a café where you can sit down with a slice of cake and something to drink. I tried two different cakes – the atmosphere was cute and had this charming old-school vibe that fits perfectly with the whole sweet shop feel. That said, the cakes themselves were a bit underwhelming. They looked lovely, but the taste didn’t really live up to the presentation. Nothing terrible, just nothing special either.
Anne L — Google review
I absolutely love this place! The marzipan is a must-try. Its so delicious and beautifully made. The café has such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with a coffee and a sweet treat. The museum is equally charming and lovely making the whole experience even more special. Definitely a spot worth visiting.
Melissa A — Google review
To access the exhibition/musuem: once in the shop, go straight till you find a door labeled Cafe/museum upstairs. Once upstairs, look around till you find a door labeled Marzipan salon. Go through the door and make your way to the museum. My favorite part was reading about the history of Marzipan. The exhibition is free.

The temple of everything Marzipan in Lubeck. Even if you're not a fan of Marzipan it's a must visit when in Lubeck. Cafe on the 2nd floor or you can choose the smaller arkade Cafe facing the town square just across the street. Anything and everything Marzipan can be found here and their Nougat selection is also very good for those not into Marzipan. Open on Sundays too which is great as the rest of the town is pretty much closed on Sundays.
IOQ Y — Google review
There's a small Marzipan museum on top of the shop/café. The shop was on the ground floor and was very crowded. To get to the museum, you have to walk through both the shop and café. There's a small door with an even smaller staircase leading up to the museum. The exhibition is not very up to date, and one can tell that they haven't done much renovation since opening. Some of the lights didn't work, which made it hard to read the signs. Most of the signs were also translated to English, which is a huge plus.
Eivind G — Google review
Museum on the top of the narzipan store worldwide renowned Niederegger. Marzipan is the most know food from Lübeck and the history of it is amazing. There is a coffee also in the building where you can taste the famous marzipan cake while taking a coffe, highly recommended.

The location and all the services are perfect, but I found the communication especially great. Every staff member was friendly and they have a very supportive attitude. What I asked or told one staff member in the evening, the other colleague was informed about all details in the morning. I could continue the conversation about the same topic with different people without any gaps. This shows that the communication works perfectly, not only with the guests, but also among the staff members. There is an umbrella in the room for the guests which is also a nice touch. The breakfast is nice and there is an allergy info next to every item, so there’s no need to ask anyone. In the hall there is a collection of brochures about tours and walks. The parking space was marked with my family name and prepared, very clean. Such details add a lot to the experience. It is a huge part of hospitality to provide cleanliness and a nice, well maintained physical space. What can round it up is the guests’ easy access to information, services and comfort. This team does this all very well, and I wish them success and lots of kind, respectful guests.

Wow! This hotel was phenomenal in every regard. The receptionists were always extremely kind. Their breakfast buffet was also phenomenal. Everything was fresh and tasty every day. It was nice to start my day with so many pleasant people greeting me! One other perk— I really, really appreciated that they accommodate guests with special pillows, should they need them. This little restaurant by the water must be the best place in Lübeck. They serve the best currywurst ever and the service is Great. And The location by the water outstanding. You can sit ther all day and wave to the canalboats. The owner and his wife are very friendly and always in a good mood. You have to go there if you visit Lübeck/Patrik from Sweden

Pub
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Lübeck, Finnegan Lübeck is a charming Irish pub that perfectly embodies the spirit of Ireland. With its warm and rustic ambiance, it’s an inviting spot to unwind with friends over a pint of Guinness or Kilkenny. The pub hosts regular events like live music on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8 PM to midnight, featuring talented bands playing rock and traditional Irish tunes.
Excellent Guinness, great landlord with a warm welcome, recommended

Pub
This traditional Lubeck pub is a popular spot for locals, with great beer and friendly service. It's small and dark, with a Smoking section. It's been around for centuries, unchanged, so if you're looking for a true old-school German pub experience, Buthmanns Bierstuben is the place to go.
This historic gem of a tavern established in 1697 in beautiful Lübeck in Germany received its name Buthmann’s in 1898. The nostalgic interior of the pub remains unchanged over the centuries. While they serve many types of alcohol, the selection of draught beer they offer is exceptional. The City of Lübeck can get really cold, thankfully the interior of the pub is warm and cozy. It is easy to spend multiple hours at a time here. The staff members were very friendly and courteous. Ralf, who attended to us was so cheerful and competent. The staff seemed to know almost all the customers. Even the customers themselves were a bunch of great people. There was a quiet Bachelor party happening at the corner table (see photo), some individuals sat by themselves drinking beer, and a group of ladies were chatting and laughing at another table. Everybody greeted everybody and spoke to each other as if the whole pub was one big happy family. This is how all pubs should be. My wife and I, along with our friends from Lübeck, had a fantastic and memorable time at Buthmann's.

This is my favourite pub in Lübeck. I'm coming back every time I visit the town. I'm always drinking Löwenbräu Triumphator. Fantastic to find this beer here.
Torben S — Google review
Authentic, friendly, iconic. Great beer, great drinks and great people. We were treated like locals and were sad to leave Lubeck. We will be back and I am sure that this place will be unchanged when we return. Until then please keep the spirit alive!
Roger ( — Google review
Very old beerhouse and really authentic. It is easy to understand, this pub is base camp for many people. There can be smoking inside, but this is one piece for this place atmosphere. Only cash, no cards!
Heikki A — Google review
A genuine old pub in the centre of Lübeck. Jever beer on draught. Small dark paneling and cosy. It is a smoking pub so take note before visiting.
John M — Google review
Very friendly service, speaking English service was just a nice touch on top. Everything was awesome, nice and cosy area, and very high quality beer, I suggest who wants to have a nice beer to drink and have a nice time pay a visit there. Pricing is also very very affordable. (Highly recommended)
Payam F — Google review
It really looks like you have steped into a Thomas Mann novel. This feels like a truly authentic piece of Lubeck (sorry, I can't get the umlaut on my phone). We spent an evening chatting with a lovely woman and her dog. Conversation ranged from music (hard rock to classical) to anything but politics (thank god). The dog didn't contribute too much to the conversation but was good with belly rubs. Beer and liquor selection is great and prices look like a local place far farther from the city center - but I expect you Americans to remember that you are here as guests and behave like you are in someone else's living room.

(Translated by Google) A really great small and family theater. Even 20 years ago it was great, I saw many different plays there (including in the open-air theater). Despite moving, I always enjoy coming back to the beautiful city of Lübeck and yesterday also to the performance “what was and what will be” at the Combinale. It was really nice! Great actors and such a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere throughout the theater, just like it was many, many years ago. I'll definitely be back soon!

La Havanna is a vibrant Cuban-themed bar that serves as a delightful escape in Lübeck, where the lively spirit of Latin culture comes alive. This spacious watering hole offers an array of tropical cocktails that tantalize your taste buds while inviting you to immerse yourself in the rhythm of Latin dance lessons. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it easy to forget the daily grind and enjoy some unforgettable hours with friends or fellow dancers.
Best latino spot in Lübeck ❤ if you like to have a good and happy time just come over there, the people is amazing and the staff better. 🔥
Xavi B — Google review
Nice atmosphere, nice salsa music, they played only 2 bachata songs in the 3 hours a spend there. The place I can say it is nice the dance floor is small though. Unfortunately no one had any idea about dancing in there ( I am talking about the customers) it had a lot of old people... if that is the latin community of lubeck then I feel sorry about it...

(Translated by Google) I was able to celebrate my 30th birthday with my guests on-site. The venue is a dream; it's cozy and exudes a family atmosphere that also invites you to celebrate. Communication with Ilona and her husband couldn't have been easier. All arrangements with the evening bar staff also went flawlessly. I can recommend planning a celebration here to anyone, whether with large or small groups. ☺️ (Original) Ich durfte meinen 30 Geburtstag mit meinen Gästen vor Ort feiern. (Translated by Google) I celebrated my 60th birthday at the Havanna Bar. It was a thoroughly successful event. The atmosphere was lively, with South American music and a rousing dance performance. Thanks to the many high tables, even guests who didn't know each other were able to strike up a conversation. However, there was seating for everyone, as there are plenty of armchairs in the gallery. Drinks were served at the bar very well. I highly recommend this venue for a celebration. (Original) Ich habe meinen 60.
