Wine Bank On View is a sophisticated wine bar located in a heritage building in Bendigo. Housed in the 1876 former Union Bank building, it offers a world-class selection of wines from around the globe. The venue boasts an international wine list and is known for its wealth of wine knowledge. Visitors can enjoy the elegant ambiance while savoring fine wines.
What a stunning spot! Housed in a beautifully restored 19th‑century bank building, the architecture is absolutely breathtaking and sets the tone for a truly memorable experience. The wine selection is exceptional — over a thousand labels from local Bendigo and Heathcote regions, plus some rare international finds. So thoughtfully curated and perfect for every kind of wine lover. The menu complements the wines beautifully, with a mix of Mediterranean-inspired and tapas-style dishes. Think warm Mt Zero olives, cheese, meats, and delicious bruschetta — perfect for grazing and sharing. And the service? Just lovely. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely knowledgeable — they really make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. A gorgeous venue with amazing wines, a great menu, and warm, genuine hospitality. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately, we had an unqualified barista on the day we attended who made one of the worst coffees in many a day. The iced coffees and alcohol free beer were very good however. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting and I will return and give them a second chance soon.
Bryce M — Google review
Great Atmosphere and Even Better Cocktails Loved the relaxed vibe at the Wine Bank. We sat out the front and watched the world go by — such a perfect spot. The highlight? The best spicy Margaritas I’ve ever had, made by Alister. Absolute perfection in a glass. Highly recommend for a laid back afternoon or evening drink

Came to Bendigo for the Freda Kahlo exhibition and stopped into Wine Bank for lunch. What a lovely little gem of a place!! Building steeped in history and has a beautiful atmosphere. Staff all very friendly and food was fantastic! We enjoyed the pasta special which was lamb ragu with stracciatelle pasta which was one of the best pasta meal's we have had! As good as any top Italian restaurant in Melbourne! Baked Camembert Cheese was totally indulgent and bruschetta with Onion Jam and Fetta and mushroom and truffle bruschetta absolutely divine! Highly recommend this place if you are ever in Bendigo! We will definitely make the trip back from Melbourne!
Sandy H — Google review
Toni was brilliant. She seated us, catered to our needs, the rest of the staff were amazing accommodating. Good was great. Next time I'm in Bendigo I will definitely be back. Thank you Toni for getting us a table
Caroline S — Google review
My best friend and I travelled down from Melbourne to Frida Kahlo and stumbled on the Wine Bank unbeknown to us it was the most popular bar in town. We took our seat in front of the bustling bar in front of a fire as there were no seats (obviously so popular) anyway, we watched as our mezcal Margherita was made and it was hands down the best Margherita I have ever had! Then I found out it was her own recipe!! Amazing. Followed by baked Camembert, prawns and charcuterie… wine bank.. we will be back!!!! Thank you
Paulette D — Google review
The wine and food are exceptional. It is a lovely atmosphere and the service was great. The staff were very helpful when choosing drinks and food. Their wine list is extensive and top quality at reasonable prices
John B — Google review
Lovely, atmosphere, beautiful old building. Great range of wines the door was impeccable. The staff were lovely, we had kai as our waiter and he made us feel very at home with fun little jokes and being very attentive, we never had to ask for more water and he we very good at making sure we had everything we needed. It is very refreshing to feel so welcome and have every part of service run smoothly. Highly recommend that you give this place a visit for a nice lunch at a reasonable price and great service.

The Woodhouse Bar & Grill is a beloved steakhouse in Bendigo, offering a cozy and rustic dining experience. Located on Williamson Street, this restaurant is known for its friendly atmosphere and outdoor seating with a charming fireplace. The interior features beamed ceilings, dim lighting, and brick walls that create a welcoming ambiance. As you step inside, the aroma of redgum wood burning on the grill fills the air while dry-aged loins hang in chiller cabinets.
We ate here Mother's Day weekend and it was extremely busy. It has a quiet, sleek atmosphere. Love the carpet stops noise travelling. The salad was so good. The sashimi entree was my fave. Burgers were good. Steaks cooked as requested. All of the sides and entrees were enjoyable. For us this establishment had very average service. Very stiff, zero personality. Didn't read their customers well. We had to ask several times for things. Ordered a burger without bacon it came with bacon. Highly recommend the food tho.
The G — Google review
We had the most fabulous meal here. The menu is sensational and the food delicious. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The staff were attentive, friendly and fun. For the quality of the food and the cosy atmosphere, we found it very reasonably priced. Lucky you Bendigo, what a gem of a place you have!
Kerri L — Google review
Well I went to this bar/resto because of the mango margarita and I liked the menu I saw online. Staff were very efficient and accommodating, the waiter I had for my table was very knowledgeable. The wagyu beef tartare was so tasty and morish. Then the duck was perfectly cooked and garnished with apple, potato micro greens, witloaf and blackberries. However the dessert promised to deliver a perfect 3course meal but under performed...mousse tasted weird, fondant was over cooked, icecream was nearly melted and the nib tuile was more like a slab of sugar with nibs in it...the waiter was happy with my criticism and took the item of my bill. My only other criticism was it was abit dark and hard to see changes in flooring level in places but the staff advise when this is going to happen. Lovely night and would highly recommend.
Sallie D — Google review
I had the pleasure of dining at The Woodhouse Bar & Grill and was thoroughly impressed by both the cuisine and the service. The steak, ordered medium rare, was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and precisely as requested. It was clear that great care had been taken in both preparation and presentation. The lobster was equally outstanding, delicately coated in a garlic batter that enhanced the natural sweetness of the meat without overwhelming it. Every bite reflected a thoughtful balance of texture and taste. Service throughout the evening was attentive, professional, and seamless, contributing to a truly enjoyable dining experience. The combination of expertly prepared dishes and warm, efficient service left me with a strong desire to return. The Woodhouse Bar & Grill more than deserves a five-star rating—highly recommended.
Jac S — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience! The steak was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The sides complemented the meal beautifully, and the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommend this place to any steak lover!
Bowen Z — Google review
Our group of four sat in the bar at our favourite seating..the young lady looking after us was attentive polite and excellent at her job. Our wines being Fiano Shiraz and moscato were all delicious along with the scrumptious bread to start..we then shared steak, sides and skewers..topped off with the dessert tasting plate..all were superb.. overall our experience was exactly what we have come to expect and to be honest would find it very hard to beat..thanks Woodhouse for another memorable evening.
Nicky P — Google review
Wow - the best steaks and sauces. The king prawns were so tasty. We highly recommend.
Christina G — Google review
Still one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! We returned to The Woodhouse after last visiting Bendigo ten years ago. The lunch menu, especially the Sher Wagyu rostbiff #7 cooked over redgum, was absolutely superb. The warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with an open fire on a chilly winter’s day, made the experience even more memorable. Service was attentive and professional.

My husband, Patrick, and I travelled to Bendigo on Easter Sunday for the Festival and ended up finding this 💎 gem of a restaurant. We started off with cocktails 🍸, selected the 'Lucky Seven' for our lunch (a cross-section of 👨‍🍳 chef's selection of 7 dishes for the day and this delicious food was accompanied by a bottle of Rose wine. The food was sensational and, honestly, every bite felt like a party in our mouths!!! Desserts were also sensational...I am not often impressed by what's out there anymore... however, this establishment was pure joy - from beginning to end!!! Not only is the venue quirky (but elegant), and also having outdoor seating under cover in a funky lane, the whole ambience/atmosphere had a great vibe!! The energy of the whole venue was next level; the servers were all enthusiascally polite, the owner, Finn, was such an engaging personality, it became clear to me how and why he made such a success of his restaurant!!! He is THE man and his chef and staff are a reflection of his discerning taste. Everything, from the decor, glasses, dishes, etc. was impeccable 👌. Truly, the food, service, drinks and the whole experience was so thoroughly enjoyed - I am still thinking about it the next day!! We will come back and will not bother dining anywhere else when coming back to Bendigo. So.... for me to write such a long review is unusual. In a word: WOW❣️ what a great place and I cannot wait to eat here again soon!!
Irene P — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. Service by James was excellent. All food was fantastic. Loved the Moreton bay bug toast. Chicken bao were great. Scallops were delicate and fresh . The ravioli pasta was excellent. Really enjoyed the kimchi rice. All cocktails were Yummo. Would highly recommend would def return

In contrast to the casual atmosphere, the quality of food was fine dining level and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The customer service was warm and friendly. We did find it a bit noisy but that seemed to be the trade-off for the casual, friendly vibe.
Deanne N — Google review
On our recent trip to Bendigo for the Frida Kahlo exhibition we kicked off the Saturday night at The Dispensary. It did not disappoint we had - killer cocktails, delish tapas (including the winning Lamb taco from the taco trail comp) and a waiter that was engaging and at times had us in stitches. Bendigo, you’re full of surprises! #FoodieFind #BendigoNights
Deanne S — Google review
We had a wonderful lunch here and were so impressed by both the food and the service. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, but a special mention must go to the kimchi fried rice – it was absolutely outstanding! The balance of flavors, the perfect level of spice, and the comforting richness made it a standout dish we’ll be coming back for. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious food and a great dining experience.
Sweta J — Google review
Great vibes from the moment we arrived. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They all seem to genuine enjoy their jobs. Food was very well done. Cocktails were good too. The Beef Rib with sorghum is perfect. Give it a try if you visit.
Kaz B — Google review
Absolutely outstanding. We selected the 7 dish feed me option. We chose very wisely. The variety was terrific. Every course was a beauty. Lots of innovation. Lots of great flavours and textures. We had no trouble selecting some good wines to share with the meal, as well. Service from Annabel was outstanding throughout. This is high level regional dining at a reasonable price. We would return here any time. Highly recommended.

We chose to have our wedding here in March 2025. Amy and her team have been professional, thoughtful and excellent hosts. We live overseas and the communication has been simple and easy. Guests have reported that the food was plentiful and delicious - particularly the hot chips! Reassuring hands for the big day - we would thoroughly recommend for anyone to have a celebration here.
Emma W — Google review
Excellent up-market pub. The food was great, the service was excellent. The steaks were cooked as requested and delicious! They have a kids menu if you need it and the drinks selection was decent. It was on the pricey side for a pub meal, but the quality of the produce was obvious and well worth it!
Alex K — Google review
What can I say, I am absolutely in love with this place. I had my first dining experience here tonight and all I can say is wow. The atmosphere when I walked in was so beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. All the food was exceptional, I actually couldn’t stop smiling when I was eating. Cocktails? So good. Honestly the best restaurant I have ever been to. I cant wait to come back. Thank you guys for making my night amazing

I recently celebrated my disco-themed 60th birthday at The Gold Mines Hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic! Amy and her staff were amazing — so friendly, accommodating, and easy to deal with from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious and received compliments from all my guests. The venue had the perfect vibe for a fun and memorable celebration. I’m so grateful to Amy and the team for helping make the night so special. Highly recommend for any event or a great meal out!

Love this place. Stunning gardens, beautiful food, great craft beers and simply a must go to pub. Take the kids and enjoy the scenery and the animals etc. The staff have always been great to us also!!!

Beautiful building. Husband and I had dinner here on a Saturday night. Venue was very busy. We had an early booking so had the front dining room to ourselves for a while. Fireplace roaring. 3 course meal - calamari, a steak each and desserts were chocolate brownie and panna cotta. Staff attentive however, specials weren't told to us and timing off when drinks ordered to accompany main. Meal nearly complete when wines arrived. Would dine again.

Nestled atop a nondescript office building, Nimbus Rooftop is Bendigo's premier rooftop bar, offering an enchanting escape with breathtaking views of the city skyline. This vibrant venue invites both locals and visitors to unwind while sipping on a delightful array of cocktails, from classic favorites like piña coladas and margaritas to unique creations such as the signature Flamingo—a tantalizing blend of pink gin and strawberry liqueur.
I hosted my law firms Christmas Party on the rooftop and it was wonderful. A great space to make your own, the drinks were great and food just what was needed for the style of function. Thanks to Nat for her hospitality!
Melissa B — Google review
We recently had the pleasure of visiting Nimba rooftop bar in Bendigo, and it was a delightful experience. The food was incredibly tasty, plated beautifully and with rich flavors. But the cocktails? Wow. Crafted by a true artist, they were superbly made, balancing creativity and flavor perfectly. The highlight for me was the charcuterie board —jampacked with an array of delicious, high-quality ingredients that made every bite memorable. The atmosphere was equally wonderful, vibrant yet relaxing, with stunning views overlooking the beautiful landscapes of Bendigo. A must-visit for anyone seeking great food, drinks, and ambiance!

The cocktails were incredible! The service was amazing & the vibe was just perfect!! We will be back again! Perfect for our Christmas party!
Celeste O — Google review
Lovely spot for a drink in the sunshine. Staff were friendly, drinks came out and a decent pace and the cocktails were yum. Others have commented on cost, maybe compared to other local places but we found them about average or slightly less than usual.
Gail J — Google review
Food and cocktails were delicious! Our meals were delivered quicky and with a smile!! One of the best Gluten free pizzas I've had!! (Big call but I'm making it) The staff did an incredible job, friendly, thoughtful and super skilled! And although they were short staffed they still took the time to point out some of Bendigo's most beautiful buildings! Can't beat the views, even in winter! We highly recommend Nimbus!!
Michelle Z — Google review
What a wasted walk from GPO. Had a nice meal and then went to nimbus for cocktails and desserts as per a booking. Told kitchen is shut as soon as we walked in, and then one cocktail in they say they're closing. Honestly pathetic. Umm booking was made by phone for 9pm! And also the woman on the phone said yes desserts are available. so whoever replied is lying. And online says closing time is 11pm. We arrived at 9.03 pm. Because i have a snapchat to prove this. Also how do you know what booking I made? I didn't give you my details, it was under a friend's name. Maybe check before replying such lies.
Thomas C — Google review
Honestly…. Not very happy at all. We came here for a good night out and heard good things through word and mouth, but left extremely disappointed. Staff were friendly. Drinks were good but over priced. I don’t even know where to start with the food. It was horrendous. I wish we got the charcuterie boards! We ordered a few serves of chips and four pizzas. As you can see in the picture the chips were soggy and sad. If you can’t use the correct potato’s to make good hand cut chips you are better just buying them in… we sent one bowl back as they were still raw and floppy. They sent them back cooked more but still not crispy in the slightest. The pizzas on the other hand were dry and stingy. Flavours were nice but for $20 a pizza you would expect more. Extremely blond crust. All in all the food has absolutely no thought behind it nor any love. Come here for drinks before dinner. Don’t recommend eating here.

Yes you do pay extra for food/drinks due to the location but holey moley, it's worth it!! The wedding here had an awesome sunset for the ceremony & canapes.

Great little speak-easy bar. Rad live music, awesome atmosphere and banger craft beers on taps. Big fan.

Best bar in Bendigo, here’s why: 1. Order any takeaway or just BYO food 2. Live music (solo artists, bands, and DJs) 3. Beers (heaps to choose from) 4. Beer garden vibes (everyone loves the beer garden) 5. Local owners/managers (owned by a group of locals and managed by a legend who loves beers and music) 6. You might even see Deus Sax perform ;)

First trip to Bendigo for the festival and as we wandered around we came across this spot. Absolutely brilliant and had more than just Carton draft beer unlike all the other pubs in Bendigo. My only serious concern was the Aussies attempting to take Dog as their own - very concerning trying to appropriate footrot flats dog - he's a kiwi mutt!!

Amazing food and service as always. Although it’s sad that I won’t be able to have Masons again. I will seriously miss miso infused butter and your sourdough bread! The food was delicious and presented beautifully. A really creative menu, excellent service and a great wine list. Our sommelier was knowledgeable and passionate, making the wine pairing an engaging experience. The chefs’ talent truly shone through. I was thrilled they called me after we were waitlisted. We’re so happy we got the chance to dine here before they close at the end of the year. Overall, a delightful dining experience!

So much local produce (done very well) to enjoy. Prepare yourself for the taste sensation of the year! Fantastic service with much attention to detail. We were served by the wonderful Simon and Elijah (Eli). Thanks so much for such a memorable night! So many superlatives - I could go on forever :-) The photos will help you see the magic that happens here. We are very particular about good food and this restaurant is amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough. We will return!

Thoroughly impressed! Honestly bang for you buck fine dining. So many elements to each dish, all prepared and cooked to absolute perfection. Thoughtful and well designed menu. Amazing use and show case of local produce. Fantastic atmosphere and dining experience. The chefs are clearly talented. Left so full. Little to no waiting between dishes. Friendly, personable, helpful and fun staff. 100% would come back, I rate this better than most of the fine dining restaurants in Melbourne. So lucky to have these guys here in Bendigo. Thank you!!!

Worth the hype. If you're looking for a fine dining experience outside of Melbourne, Masons is a great choice. Extremely helpful staff that were happy to make recommendations (based on what you like, not what is most expensive, like some fine dining). There is a set menu which changes seasonally but there is room for dietary changes. Great wines and cocktails. Beautiful venue but can be a bit noisy due to it's small size, and parking is limited. Overall a lovely meal.

Absolutely blown away, this is by far the best restaurant in Victoria and is on a level with my favourite restaurant in SA. The food was beautifully presented with all flavours perfectly working together. My compliments to the chef responsible for the pastry used in the tomato tarts, it was so delicate yet held together until the fork touched it.

Masons is a very fine restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The food was superbly presented and every dish was delicious. The matched wines were a highlight too. The service was gorgeous as well. This is a most impressive regional restaurant where they do everything well. Highly recommended.

GPO Bendigo is a modern restaurant located in a contemporary space with a courtyard, offering Spanish and Mediterranean tapas, pizza, paella, and an array of cocktails. The venue caters to various occasions such as group gatherings or intimate date nights. With a relaxed dining atmosphere and a plush mezzanine lounge for enjoying cocktails, it's suitable for different types of get-togethers. The establishment also offers well-cooked and delicious meals along with attentive service.
My husband and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary tonight at GPO. The food was very tasty and generous portions. I particularly enjoyed my Passionfruit Mojito! Gemma our waitress was super friendly, knowledgeable and efficient - she made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend GPO and will definitely go again.

We had Tapas and a pear and prosciutto pizza, we loved every bite. Service was amazing but the food was the star.

Wonderful, very friendly and attentive service - can't be faulted. Ok prices for dishes and a wonderful ambience. Unfortunately, our tapas dishes weren't what we'd hoped for. The lamb ribs were pure fat - no meat at all. The wagyu skewers had an unusual medicinal-tasting glaze on them, and the bang bang popcorn chicken was too salty, we sadly couldn't even finish it out take it away (lest we had a side dish like rice). Desserts look lovely, but we didn't get them, sadly. Really friendly staff.

We visited GPO Bendigo for a family dinner to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant itself looked inviting, and the service was excellent, the staff were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, our experience was spoiled by a loud and rude group seated next to us. Their behaviour made the atmosphere uncomfortable and detracted from our celebration. The noise also affected our order: one starter was missed entirely, and two of the steaks we ordered were undercooked. Portions were small, with very limited vegetables, just a few pieces of potato with the steaks, which didn’t feel like good value for money. Additionally, we were surprised to find that the restrooms lacked soap and sanitary bins. This felt unhygienic and disappointing, especially in a restaurant setting where cleanliness is expected. Overall, despite the good service, we were left dissatisfied and wouldn’t return or recommend GPO Bendigo to friends or family.

ATMOSPHERE. We were there just at opening time for lunch which was very pleasant but I'm sure it would be a great place to hang with friends for an evening meal or event. A good size bar too. FOOD. The meals we had were well cooked, presented and tasted delicious. DRINKS. I had an Old Fashioned which the waitress had never made before and she ended up making a really good drink. Others had a craft beer and water. SERVICE. We were welcomed by the lovely waitress before being shown to our table. Sadly some of the tables and a chair were still sticky from the night before but the waitress was apologetic and cleaned it quickly. The food and drinks came in reasonable time. 4 Stars due to the sticky tables and chair.

Great service - very friendly, fast and welcoming. I didn't really like our tapas dishes. The lamb ribs had no meat on them at all - pure fat. The wagyu beef skewers had a strange, medicinal taste, and the chicken pops were too salty, drowned in soy sauce. We didn't stay for dessert, which looked very appetising on the menu. Best off just ordering a steak, surely you can't go wrong with that.

Cafe

Coffee shop
Percy and Percy is a charming café located just outside the CBD, featuring a lovely courtyard and cozy interior. Owners Elisha and Dan prioritize using the finest local ingredients, including milk from a nearby dairy and produce from local grocers. The café's relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for a leisurely Sunday morning. With ample outdoor seating and a snug backyard area, it offers a welcoming environment for both visitors and their furry friends.
We really enjoyed our drinks particularly at Percy and Percy this morning! It’s near where we are staying and the vanilla latte and hot chocolate were very good! We liked the touch of the drinks coming with a Tiny Teddy too. We ate breakfast there too, with $3 for an additional egg being a bargain and there were no big breakfasts, but everything was a decent size. The serving girl didn’t enjoy her job, but was still friendly with us and there was a great view in the autumn outside by the coloured trees.

I really loved this cafe, a great spot for a nice and calm lunch! The Percy Cheeseburgers were juicy with lots of flavour, and the fresh apple juice was better than the supermarkets' apple juice. The food could have come a bit faster, but it was understandable considering the amount of people there. The tables were clean, the staff were nice, and despite the mass amount of customers, had a peaceful atmosphere. I would certainly recommend anyone to bring a friend or two here.

Great place, lovely atmosphere, wasn’t too thrilled with the Persian eggs I ordered. Amazing selection of cakes and deserts on display, tried the carrot cake and loved it, it was fresh and tasty! Coffee was good. Just slightly disappointed with the toast and eggs.

Great service, beautiful cafe, BLAT was delicious and great special price! Not giving 5 stars only because my brewed chai tea cost $8.7 (soy milk) and I think it’s way too much. This is the reason I don’t drink anymore coffee/tea when I go out. The place is really nice!

Delicious breakfast and coffee! We had the Persian eggs (swapped tomatoes to mushrooms) and Greens eggs & ham. Staff were really friendly and accomodating with ingredient changes. Rest of the menu and cabinet looked great also

They have mostly communal seating here, we were 'lucky enough ' to be seated at the same table as a grizzly child. Thankfully the parents were fantastic and got the child under control, so we were able to enjoy our breakfast. Hubby had the poached eggs, bacon, with tomato, spinach, feta and dukkah (can't remember what it was called) and I had the poached eggs on toast. Literally 2 eggs on one measly thin piece of sourdough toast - $15! The least they could have done is provided 1 piece of toast for each egg, for that sort of money! I had to pinch a piece of hubby's toast, otherwise I'd have gone hungry. Hubby enjoyed his big brekky at 8 Sisters Cafe alot more, but said the tomatoes were nice!

I normally just pop in for a coffee here, whilst I’m working, and it is a fantastic coffee... But having a day off, I decided to come in for a feed. I ordered a bacon and egg roll and a homemade hash brown, which were absolutely fantastic. The egg was cooked perfectly, and the bacon was a thicker cut. The homemade hash brown was crunchy and flavourful. Service was lovely, the staff were genuinely happy to be there, and catered to my needs promptly. Highly recommended

Very friendly prompt service. Lovely menu & great prices. Ordered Tuscan Chicken & it was amazing. Chicken breast was tender. Served with mushroom & bacon creamy sauce with choice of perfectly cooked veggies or a colourful salad with dressing. Dessert was a ginger pudding with an amazing custard & fresh cream. They could not improve on this meal.

A night out for dinner with a bunch of colleagues all new to Bendigo. The service was great, it was just unfortunate that several menu items were unavailable due to being sold out. Not expected for a Thursday evening but not being familiar with the area, this could be normal? Friend’s dishes all looked great and said they were tasty. I opted for the Pad Thai without the chilli, was accommodated easily, and the dish was delicious. A good place for a small group or large gathering such as ours as it had a very relaxed atmosphere.

Great pub food, and to chill out and have a drink with family/friends. staff are great and friendly. Staff can get a bit overwhelmed as few times been there where short staffed mostly and there were a lot of diners to attend, not really their fault. So if it was busy just be patient with the staff.

Let me start by saying I understand there were parties booked, however it was very loud in the bistro and my wife and I could barely converse. The food was absolutely fantastic, I had a medium scotch fillet with pepper gravy and wife had the mixed grill. My only criticism with the food is the veggies were over spiced. I love hot food myself but there were too spicy. Steak was cooked to perfection and the roast spud was to die for. Value for money and worth ever cent.

El Gordo Bendigo is a popular tapas bar located in a hip laneway in Bendigo. It offers a diverse menu with Spanish flavors, including classics like Madrid style baked eggs and breakfast burritos. The owners, Chad and Hayley, are known for their window coffees for those on the go. In addition to its brunch offerings, El Gordo transforms into an authentic Mexican cuisine hotspot during lunch and dinner hours, serving up flavorful tacos, enchiladas, and other street food.
Saw great reviews and decided to give it a try….. INSANELY GOOD 👏 Ham & Cheese croissant was nicely toasted, pulled pork wrap was done just right and the bacon & egg roll is out of the world - flavours explosion!!!! Coffee is great and very friendly staffs.

Every plate was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. They were attentive without being pushy — really professional and kind. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal or a special occasion. Clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. What a delicious surprise this place was. Highly recommend the avocado (which is actually the best guacamole I ever tasted) with crispy delicious bacon on crusty sourdough. My son had peanut butter on toast, simple but delicious and creamy. My husband had the Spanish breakfast. Practically licked his plate. Coffee also exceptional. Lovely staff, especially the chef who I suspect is the owner. Unassuming little gem. Loved it and won’t go anywhere else for breakfast in Bendigo again!

I recently dined at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptionally delicious, offering a symphony of flavors that tantalized my taste buds. The ambiance added to the overall experience, with a stunning setting that was both inviting and picturesque. What stood out most, however, was the service. The staff was not only efficient but also incredibly friendly and charming, making our meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delightful culinary experience combined with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Stumbled upon this place, isn't that always the best way on a dreary Saturday. Ate in the alleyway. Pleasant service and really delicious food. We choose simply because we were not that hungry. The banana bread with cinnamon butter was delicious and just the right amount of bready, the other item we tried was the three cheese toasty. High quality cheese, really well toasted. It is harder to do than one might imagine. I'd certainly recommend this place, the other food we saw came out looked fabulous. Go try this if you haven't!

What a great find in North Bendigo. Excellent staff, constantly changing range of craft beers on tap, great cider in cans and the best bit, cook at the table Korean BBQ. We had the Korean BBQ menu. We were happy with the cuts of meat provided the BBQ: pork belly, beef ribs, beef bulgogi, oyster blade steak, skirt steak, and marinated lamb. They had some nice side dishes. Ways for the restaurant to improve the experience would be: sticky rice (so the rice doesn't fall off from the chopsticks as easily) and having sesame oil and salt as an additional dip for the meat (because they will elevate the flavour of the meat). Otherwise, it's pretty good. 😊

The Mill Castlemaine, originally established in 1875 as the Castlemaine Woollen Mill and later transformed into Victoria Carpets, has now become a vibrant hub for artisan manufacturing and food. The on-site food precinct features a variety of culinary delights such as a Viennese coffee house, winemakers, sourdough baker, craft brewery, smallgoods maker, cheese and dairy producer, chocolatier and ice cream maker.
Fabulously huge undercover area showcasing antiques and curios, artwork works and craft works, crockery and cutlery and almost anything else you couldn’t think of. Air conditioned but not icy cold. Well maintained Public toilets. Even a section at the front with a stack of arcade games for the kids (& big kids) for when they enviably get bored. Like a big supermarket, you just pay at the end when you exit, not with individual stall owners. Outside are eateries, sweeteries (?! Chocolates and ice cream), coffee, local artists, and a beautiful living green shady arch. Well worth a stop to fill your day.

Nestled in the heart of Bendigo's arts precinct, Ms Batterhams is a delightful culinary treasure located in the basement of the historic MacKenzie Hall. This sophisticated venue boasts an elegant atmosphere with plush booths and intricate decor that enhance your dining experience. The menu features seasonal creations inspired by southern European cuisine, showcasing local delicacies crafted by talented chefs. Guests can indulge in a carefully curated wine list, refreshing locally inspired cocktails, and an impressive selection of craft beers to complement their meals.
MS BATTERHAMS – 10 Mackenzie Street, Bendigo I am a big fan of Bendigo. It is a beautiful town with a vibrancy to it. There is also some good food to be enjoyed and Ms Batterhams is now the number one choice in the town after getting to experience it earlier this week. Located in Mackenzie Quarters the setting is beautiful and you feel good being there. A warm welcome was received as we arrived and I have to say the team looking after us were just superb. Our main server was a local lass who beamed with pride as she spoke about her hometown. It genuinely added to the experience. Let’s talk about the food, because it is very very good. The approach is share plates which is my favourite way to dine. You get to try it all. We began with Croquette de elote with chipotle mayo (order one each at least) . The creaminess of the filling was melt in your mouth good and the flavour just delicious. Saltbush cauliflower was served with a scorched eggplant, and medjool date puree with toasted pepitas. The cauliflower was tender and full of taste and the puree was a surprise treat. It was an unusual blend of flavours but they certainly work together. I love a saganaki but am fussy about it because I have had some of the very best. Ms Batterhams got their offering just right with perfectly fried cheese accompanied by a honey and muscatel dressing and, on this evening, some caramelised figs. Absolutely delicious.. The fish of the day was splendidly grilled Ling with a smoked harissa and tomato sauce that tickled your tongue in the nicest of ways. We paired the fish with roasted kipfler potatoes served with piquillo peppers and chipotle mayo. It was a wonderful way to round out the mains. Thankfully there was room for dessert and my partner enjoyed a beautiful Brulee whilst I indulged in a very naughty but nice Pavlova with poached plums and raspberries accompanied by a saffron and honey ice cream that was as smooth as silk. Ms Batterhams is definitely worth the trip to Bendigo. You can take in the sights and sounds of the town while you are there but, make sure you enjoy a fabulous meal in a gorgeous setting.

We stopped into Ms Batterhams as part of the Bendigo Taco Trail — and while we were too full to do the full dinner experience, what we did try was absolutely incredible. Their take on tacos? Packed with flavour. The oysters? Fresh and beautifully presented. And the house sourdough with cultured butter… divine. Paired it all with a couple of gorgeous wines from their list and honestly didn’t want to leave. Such a stunning, intimate space with great energy and even better food and wine. Can’t wait to come back and do it properly next time!
Katie G — Google review
Celebrated my sister’s birthday here and the food, service and ambiance were outstanding! Portion size was perfect as we could try a number of dishes without feeling too full. All of the dishes that we ordered were delicious! Some favourites pictured here, the smoked trout on sourdough crumpet, saganaki with honey and muscatel dressing, gnocchi with roasted pumpkin, sage and hazelnuts, and the duck breast with purple carrot puree and pomegranate glaze. Can’t wait to go back!

Celebrated my birthday here and we had the chef menu. Food is yummy but the portion could have been bigger. Or maybe I’m just really a big eater. Overall, the experience was still good.

We had a wonderful meal at Ms Batterhams. The staff were so attentive and looked after us very well through the night. The food was exceptional- high quality and a great use of native ingredients. The sourdough was amazing, couldn’t get enough to mop up the anchovy sauce. And the kangaroo dish was one of the best we’ve had! The larger groups did make it a bit noisy at the end of the night.

Had some business to do in Bendigo and came across Ms Batterhams restaurant. Quaint small restaurant with great atmosphere. Located in central Bendigo, in the heart of the Arts Precinct, MacKenzie Quarters has been lovingly restored to embrace its 145 year old history. LUNCH 12pm - 2.30pm (thursday-Sunday) DRINKS & bites 2.30pm - 5pm (thursday-sunday) EVENING 5pm - 11pm (Monday - sunday) We didn't have a booking, and the waitress found us a table for two. The menu is designed for sharing. Starting with tapas and then there are small plates and large plates to share. This suited us as we were not looking for a large meal. We ordered some tapas, and somehow, we were now hungry for more. The sourdough bread and whipped butter with black sea salt were to die for. The best bread I have had in a long time. Each plate we ordered was in small proportions, appealing and delicious. They say you eat with your eyes. The plates here were certainly eye appealing and delicious, they were delectable. We asked for a local chardonnay, but unfortunately, there wasn't a local chardonnay on the menu. We ordered one from Macedon, which did not disappoint. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much for them. This was a great find and should we need to visit Bendigo again we will return.

Delicious food and the kitchen staff were fast! The waiting staff could use some work though. We were seated without being told that we needed to order at the bar. After waiting 15 mins for the cutlery we were promised by the waitress we got our own and only then we found out there was no table service for orders. If the waitresses weren't standing around talking so much, they could have taken our order or at least informed us as we were seated that we needed to order at the bar. 🫤 The food was amazing though. 😊

Had a party planned in the outdoor area, asked if we could come at 11.30 to which the lady said yes no worries but the bar would be closed and doors open at midday. When the guests arrived the gate to the outdoor area was locked and the male staff member was very rude not wanting us to come in , even though it was previously organised with staff. Definitely spoiled the mood

I felt the food was average, the atmosphere was rather plain with no character. Lovely fires the best one has an airport Q system around it sadly. We were disappointed, we left to have desert elsewhere as the desert menu is a little average too. Not bad for a cheap meal out but wouldn’t rush back

We had a couple of lunchtime meals in the beer garden today.. The quality of both meals exceeded our expectations. But the most suprisingly thing was the size of the portions - they were huge. You certainly will not leave hungry.. I'm a big bloke with a healthy appetite, and I couldn't finish the mixed grill (they even offered a doggy bag). Good food, cold beer, good service, and a sunny day. What more do you need. Update. They now offer a two course lunchtime special, which is not only very reasonable priced but the portion sizes are more normal, so you can activate consume two courses without feeling bloated. Well done. Another visit for a quick shared lunch, and pleasantly surprised how tasty and tangy both dishes were. The Lamb cofters were tangy as was the prawn and Chorizo paella. It's nice to see chefs not dumbing down the flavor for locals but being true to the actual dish. Another reason we will go back again.

The Woodhouse Bar and Grill, another local favorite, specializes in mouthwatering dishes made with fresh, locally sourced produce and also offers gluten-free options for those with special dietary needs.
We had the opportunity to dine here on Saturday night. The decor is beautiful, the view out the huge window, looking into Rosalind Park, stunning. The food and service was impeccable and well deserving of the reputation Alium has work had to gain.

Had the" Feed Me" 7 courses. Loved all the dishes. Exceptional service , professional staff. Nice heritage building. Best restaurant meal I have had for some time. One small thing is it is pricey, but the quality of the food makes the wallet hit not too bad. Good cocktails.

With two hats this is the place to dine in Bendigo, just opposite the fountain and close to main street. Previously a bank the heritage ceiling is stunning, as is the food of the feed me menu. . 🍞 Bread & butter 🦪 Oysters 🥢 Spiced pumpkin arancini / japanese curry / kewpie / furikake 🥩 Wagyu carpaccio / piperade / caperberry / banana shallot / wasabi snow 🍄‍🟫 Risotto / local mushroom / aged balsamic / grana padano 🥩🥔🥬 Roaring forties lamb backstrap with hassleback potato, watercress salad, Chimichurri 🍑 white peach sorbet 🍧 Oolong tea panna cotta / peach / nectarine jelly / verbena / apricot sorbet . Everything was good, but it was the lamb that was our favourite with that beautiful potato. The arancini was creative, but needed more sauce, the risotto size was perfect as part of a many course meal. Wrapping up with a palette cleanser and perfect oolong pannacotta. Service was excellent. A lovely place for date night . 🥩 @aliumdining 💵 Feed Me Menu 120pp + drinks 📍 Bendigo

Alium was a gastronomic delight! The food was both creative and refined. The wines recommended by the sommelier further enhanced the pleasure. The service was impeccable. Quoting Marie Kondo.. the dining experience sparked joy.

I absolutely love coming here. There's a terrific choice of food and price points. The wine is terrific and the meals are a carefully considered and thoughtful combination of textures and flavours. I especially love coming here as a solo diner as Nick and all of the staff are more than accommodating and so kind. Their cocktails that I've had are a tasty balance of sweet and sour. Last time I visited I had the carpaccio and risotto as a starter and the crispy duck bao as a main. Especially recommend the duck - the crispy outside is perfection! Thanks Alium!

From entry into the restaurant, sitting at the table and the service. Alium is 5 stars all the way. The waitress we had was on the ball, the service was actually quite exceptional all around. Cocktails devine, food delicious! Thank you

If you want an indulgent meal, showcasing local produce with personal service, all in a beautiful dining room, give it a try. Everything (except the fries) is made in-house. I don't usually give 5 stars, but the entire experience was awesome.

The finest meal my wife and I have ever experienced. Just FABULOUS! Service was super friendly and the dishes came out at perfect intervals. For us it was a special treat and so worth it. A true dining experience. We left the food decision up to the chef and all of the seven courses were excellent.Stand outs were the scallops and sea urchin dishes. Definitely will return. Lola - Pizza Bar & Bottleshop is a laid-back restaurant situated in the historic Theatre Royal, offering a cozy atmosphere with simple decor and low lighting. The menu features an array of delicious pizzas and pasta dishes with fresh and innovative combinations, all served in a rustic setting. After dining, guests can explore the live music venue and cinema within the theatre or relax at the espresso and wine bar.
Today we had the most beautiful 3 course dinner at Lola!s Bistro at the Provincial Hotel. All our meals were delicious with well balanced flavours using quality ingredients. It was our first time there and my friends were all so impressed with the food , service and atmosphere. The dessert were to die for. Three of us had the Soufflé and one the panacotta. Well done Chef we had a very memorable experience and will be back. Thank you.

Cool chic atmosphere here. Nice Rose wine on tap. We ordered the salami & olive pizza. Not too bad. I would have liked the salami to be not so big and more olives, but the taste was good. Loved that it is located at the Theatre which is a cool and novel idea. Would recommend.

We dined there on ‘Penny Wise Tuesday’ glass of wine or beer and a pizza for $25 The pizzas are delicious Italian style, simply fantastic. You can sit on the street or inside.

REALLY yummy pizzas! Looked as good as they tasted. Interesting toppings, such a great vibe here too! Lola is a win, especially on Pennywise Tuesdays 🤡

The zuccha pizza was delicious. We ordered a salad, which was missing a key ingredient - roquette - when we asked where it was they claimed there was roquette in the dressing, which was a lie! So strange, and rude! Otherwise really like the place.

Really yum pizza, possibly the best crust I’ve had anywhere ever. The chilli oil is to die for! We ended up getting an entire bottle. Atmosphere is great with different spots to choose from between the bar, outdoor, and a cosy upstairs. Staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

great ambience, nice hangout for the locals and good tuesdays deals where pizza and win is $20! one would think you cannot go wrong with pizza but i discovered you can! i had the salami, olives, basil and capers pizza with a blanket of cheese that was tasteless and leathery, the tomato paste so salty that it cancelled out the taste of the rest of the ingredients.

The Social Bendigo offers a vibrant and energetic dining experience with its lively ambiance. The staff exude friendliness and enthusiasm, creating a bubbly atmosphere. The chips are exceptional, while the porterhouse steak is delightful. However, the vegetables are slightly overcooked. The pork belly is delicious, and the cocktails are impressive. It's an ideal place to have fun and enjoy drinks with friends. The service is outstanding, enhancing the overall experience.
Great little restaurant with a country/city vibe. I had a vegetarian dish, (roast cauliflower) which was really flavoursome. The house Pinot Noir was also excellent 👌🏼

Nice looking venue. Great music playing. Good drink selection. I imagine it would have good atmosphere with a crowd of people. Service was fine and staff were friendly. Was only me inside on this visit. $11.50 for schooner of pale ale. $26 for Thai beef salad which was disappointing .. especially for the price. Small size bowl, though plenty of chewy beef. Was very limp and soggy salad due to sitting in a soup of dressing... At least half cup dressing left in bowl when finished. Meant there was no crunch at all, & no noodle. Mentioned to staff member who told the cook causing laughter in the kitchen. I guess they didn't want constructive feedback... So I'll give it here so you can save your money on this dish or ask them to drain it before serving. :)

This place is very funky, and has a great atmosphere, dimly lit for those that need a little romantic inspo, brighter down the back for their kooky trivia nights. Beautiful Thai beef salad last night. ☺️

A friend, visiting from Adelaide, and I (local) experienced the Social on Wednesday. The new menu has been curated and presented by Nick who owned Masons. Wow…the experience was casual and relaxed however the food and wine selection were seriously impressive. Thank you and I’ll be back soon!

Service was top notch and great food and drinks menus. Looking forward to going back to work my way through the menu.

Visited The Social Bar & Eating House in Bendigo on Saturday with my best friend. We ordered two drinks and the 5-share plate option. Sadly, the experience was extremely disappointing. The drinks were just okay, but at $32 for two — especially when only one contained alcohol — it felt overpriced. As for the share plates, they were honestly the most underwhelming meal I’ve ever been served. At $79, we were expecting something substantial and flavourful, but instead we received tiny portions, bland food, and what felt like a few scattered pieces of deep-fried cauliflower. It was laughable, honestly — and not in a good way. For the price, it's actual robbery to serve something so tasteless and lacking in value. The only redeeming aspect of our visit was the staff. The servers were genuinely lovely, and it's a shame their service is let down by what’s coming out of the kitchen. I wouldn’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless the menu and portion sizes see a major overhaul.

Great motel! We rode here on the o’keefe rail trail. Great price, lovely staff, clean rooms, comfy bed, and good wifi. The staff also said we could put our bikes in the room which was great peace of mind. Highly recommend! We’ll be back for sure

Finally, we found somewhere clean in Bendigo to stay that didn't cost a fortune. While it was a smallish room, the bed was very large and comfortable, the bathroom was huge with a great shower. Everything looks very new and modern. It was very relaxing in the morning to sit by the pool and enjoy a cup of coffee. The staff were very friendly. They do have a 'no children' policy. So there was no screaming or annoying sounds. We will definitely be staying again, and next time, I hope to use the pool there.

Spent a total of 3 nights here. My partner left an honest review, nothing nasty was said and apparently the owner took it personally and proceeded to privately DM her on Booking.com.

My sick 70yr old mother stayed here overnight before attending a doctor’s appointment. The attendant at reception was reluctant to give my mother a receipt for her stay, claiming “My wife knows how to do that but it’s Mother’s Day and I don’t want to bother her with that”. She was also unable to figured out the tv remote and there were no instructions. My mother was called by this property and abused over the phone for giving them a 2 star rating on Booking.com. Bullies in business.

Not family friendly. "Children are not allowed on site." We travel a fair bit and often call to request 1 Q and 1 S bed as our small children like to share beds or sleep with us. Not once in 6 years have we been told, "You can't just do that. You have to ask for a Q and 2 S" Every other place up and down Australia has had no issue, and we would understand and pay the extra, hence the call, but her tone was awful. After reading reviews, I'm glad we were declined.

Piano Bar in Bendigo offers a unique and lively experience, standing out from the typical pub scene. The bar features live piano performances and vocalists who take song requests, creating an engaging atmosphere for patrons to sing along and dance. Additionally, the venue hosts various events led by drag queens, such as bingo, trivia, and comedy sketches with audience participation encouraged. Stopped in for a cheeky Saturday arvo cocktail. Great service and friendly staff. 5/5 stars for the excellent Whiskey Sours!

As we sit here waiting for the piano guy to start they’re still stuffing around at the piano and chatting away, two women one man, nothing happening. Meant to start at, i was told on the phone today, 7. Nup. Should have been well prepared beforehand. unimpressive. Batteries for mic, leads everywhere, lots of chit chat.. Specifically came for the piano. Next door to me the couple are not happy either. When we arrived staff did not have our reservation downstairs, upstairs they did - do these people communicate at all to each other? The carpet is very sticky underfoot and made me feel sick. Food was absolutely delicious. Bartender didn’t know the recipe to a mocktail so my bartender daughter gave him a heads up. My mocktail was good. I don’t know if I’d come again. I’m pretty cranky. Still no piano. $70 meal - 2 cocktails, and mocktail and sides - and $10 entry. Only $20 less than the highest rated restaurant in bendigo (the Alium) and that one has no piano. Finally a piano! He’s a good player but a bit loud - if softer a fantabulous singer for the mood they want to create. Nice background if a tad softer. Summary - beautifully presented cocktails and kudos to the chefs! Spot on! . Female singer good just all of that a bit loud. Liked when the piano guy was just playing music only - he seemed to like that too. He got into it and that was great. Meaningful and tempoed nicely. Staff towards customers were friendly and informative. As to the reply below, that carpet it’s disgusting and I note other comments re same, thanks but no.

I had a fantastic time at Piano Bar’s Hogwarts-themed trivia night. It was a great turnout with a lively atmosphere, and the staff and host truly made the night exceptional with their friendly and attentive service. While the seating arrangement was a bit tight and felt more like a classroom setup, it didn’t take away from the fun. The chicken dish was delicious, though the pizza could use some improvement, as it was a bit tough. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening, and I’ll definitely be back for more!

Last night for 90s night they packed it out, so crowded, too many ppl to only have 2 toilets upstairs. Tried to go to the downstairs toilets and the guy on the desk was so rude and said no. Overpriced drinks. They were letting people in who had not purchased tickets also, which is rude, considering we paid $22 to wait 25 minutes to pee. Yay.

This place is a real gem. We had a great night at the Comedy Show. We were on the second floor where they have many shows (already booked for the ABBA show in a few weeks). Food is great. Friendly is an understatement, so welcoming and warm. From being greeted at the door, bar staff, the muso’s and to the energetic and bubbly Dance Captain, all make for a highly enjoyable night out!! Had undercooked sweets there twice. The first was a peanut butter cookie, the staff tried to convince me it was supposed to be that consistency, unfortunately I was not convinced as I'd had a few there prior to being served up an undercooked one. The staff offered to replace it with another raw one which I declined, no other replacement or refund offered for the uneaten cookie. Today it was two take away slices of apple crumble. With undercooked raw goo on top. Paid $14 for two servings of pure Yuck. Couldn't take it back as I was on my way to Melbourne when I realised. No cutlery in the packages either. Won't order apple crumble or peanut butter cookies again. Just the thought of eating these greasy undercooked sweets is enough to put me off. Had other meals there. Quality is poor and overpriced. Hot chocolate is great to have there, take away cups are too small.

Very awesome venue! We dropped in tonight and even though the area out the back had a private function, they were more than welcoming up front. Can I give zero stars?? Zero customer service. We had a group of 18 walk in & we were not greeted at all, actually we were ignored. It was super awkward. Walked to the back garden & had to walk back to the bar to ask for some menus & were begrudgingly handed a few drink menus. Nestled just a short fifteen-minute drive from Bendigo city, Waratah Wedding & Function Venue stands out as one of the newest and most enchanting locations for weddings and events. With its stunning gardens and charming red brick chapel, it offers an idyllic setting for couples looking to tie the knot. The venue has thoughtfully curated a list of recommended caterers while also allowing guests to bring their own food and beverages.
Attended a wedding on the 21st Jan 2023 for our niece's wedding. This place is just stunning and gorgeous. I loved the reviews, and so I wanted to add photos for night shots as it was a special place at night. The staff were fabulous and friendly, although our drinks kind of kept disappearing if you didn't keep a hold of them, that would be my only sour on the place. The gardens were beautiful and well manicured, gorgeous places to take lovely rustic photos, and you could do a wedding inside the church or in the gardens. Lovely sized hall for those colder or bad weather days that had a lovely feel to it. I can not comment on prices as I was only a guest, but if you are looking for a place for a function, check it out.

Absolutely GORGEOUS venue at a reasonable price. Would 100% recommend this as a wedding venue to anyone wanting to get married in the Bendigo area. Unfortunately our plan for a garden ceremony was shattered by rain but the chapel is beautiful and intimate and was a great fallback option. The rain cleared up after the ceremony and we had a fabulous garden reception afterwards (with many adorable spots for photo ops). There is also a great reception hall there too should you like a sit down meal. Carol and Greg were both extremely helpful with all the planning and setup and working the bar on the night. The buildings are beautiful, the garden is stunning and guests have assured me their motel across the road is equally great. Thank you again Greg and Carol for making our night one to remember 😊

Georgina and myself had been looking at venues for a while and discovered Waratah weddings through positive feed back from word of mouth. After visiting the site we booked in a date straight away due to the beauty of the place the convenience of ceremony and reception all in one space. Also the very reasonable price, as well as all the little things that the hosts have gone the extra mile for. We couldn’t be happier with how everything went on the big day with Greg and Carol being very helpful throughout the hole event. Strongly recommend.

My husband and I got married here on the 4th of March 2023 and could not rate them high enough. Had looked at other venues but they just didn't 'grab me'. Went and looked at Waratah and within 10 meters of walking into the property, my husband and I said "yes". The venue is just gorgeous, the vendors are the most friendliest, happiest people and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds on the day were just picture perfect and not a blade of grass out of place. The outside bar got a lot of attention between thee ceremony and the reception!! The meal was catered for by "Two Sisters" and it was just the best meal.....all our guests raved about what was served. Thank you so much Greg and Carol for an amazing day that we had on our wedding.

The setting is somewhat industrial with giant cable spools as tables, overlooking the bar and kitchen. Our server quickly offered us our first drink, a G&T or G&S. The blood orange gin is delicious and is a very pretty pale orange in colour and is served in a tall glass with dehydrated orange! Yum! Our first course of tomato, basil and feta bruschetta was tasty, followed by spicy arancini served with tomato sago and sour cream. Again the arancini were delicious. At this point our server offered us our first gin cocktail. So many delicious choices! One of our party was designated driver and was kindly offered the mocktail menu to selected from. Even the selection of mocktails was generous and refreshing! The cheese platter and dessert platter of strawberries, chocolate dipping sauce, mini chocolate muffins and macrons were a little pedestrian but the cocktails more than made up for this. I liked to also acknowledged the staff- they were all friendly and efficient. It was quite a busy afternoon but the staff made sure everyone was well looked after . Thanks Urban Cellar, we had a great afternoon celebrating a birthday and enjoying the variety of cocktails and mocktails!

I thought I'd leave a review because it hurts me to see a fantastic business's rating be unnecessarily trashed by a very small amount of unfair, overly critical reviews. We've been to The Urban Cellar quite a few times, throughout COVID, and after COVID, and have been greeted to absolutely fantastic service each time. I've never had a negative experience with any of the staff there, they always go above and beyond to connect with their patrons and make sure everyone leaves with a smile. Especially the management, they're absolutely lovely people who obviously have plenty of experience with customer service. Their large selection of fantastically crafted cocktails are all beautifully put together, they look amazing, they taste amazing, they're made quickly, efficiently and professionally. Never had a bad drink here. I've never exactly gone to The Urban Cellar FOR the food, but I always remember the food being a good addition to the drinks. In conclusion, I do fully believe that The Urban Cellar is a fantastic small local business that goes above and beyond to provide an excellent experience for all their customers, and they definitely deserve better. We'll be heading there tonight for some drinks! :)

Cocktails fabulous, food was average, staff seemed lovely. My only issue was the messages I received in the lead up to our booking. I emailed to arrange a small hens bottomless brunch and received messages months in advance stating another group was breathing down their neck and we need to have everyone paid for as the booking for that day was being closed, this went on for a few weeks, we managed to get everyone paid well in advance to arrive and be the only booking. Not one other group or person arrived the entire time and the bookings remained open right up until we arrived which I was told numerous times they would be closed and members of our group would be missing out. I understand that bookings are recommended but advance payment for everyone we had coming a month in advance for a booking of only 15 people was extreme and more frustrating when we were the only ones there.

We had a seated function here for our corporate work group. Peter was easy to deal with and made the night possible with all of our requests. The food was amazing and bar staff were great. Would definitely book again. Thanks Peter and crew :)

Great place to visit for food and drinks. Amazing drinks and cocktail list with local spirits - most made by the in-house distillery Morris Lane - as well as distillers from Timboon to Dongara. The theme nights are great fun and bang for buck. It is a factory first and foremost, but Peter and the staff have done a great job in making the space comfortable and welcoming. The staff are great to chat to and make you welcome. Definitely one of the best places in Bendigo for a drink, either with friends or to pick up a bottle of two of the gin, vodka or whisky. The coffee is also great for a during the week pick up.

Had my husband's 40th birthday here yesterday and can't speak highly enough of the venue, staff, and food & drink! Peter was so incredibly accommodating in the lead-up as I had to make several changes to the numbers booked and he made me feel like nothing was too difficult. On the day itself Peter and his staff were just as friendly, providing great service and making for a happy atmosphere and happy customers. Thanks so much for making for a wonderful celebration; we'll definitely be back!

Transportation service
Kangaroo Flat Train Station is a charming transit hub that offers a reliable service, with trains typically arriving on schedule. The station boasts professional and courteous staff who ensure passengers feel safe and supported, especially when navigating to platform 2 for journeys towards Southern Cross. While the large parking area is convenient, it's worth noting that there are no restroom facilities available on-site. Despite occasional disturbances in the vicinity—like graffiti incidents—Kangaroo Flat remains a pleasant stop for travelers looking to explore the region.
Kissed by the heaven and stuck in time, the Kangaroo Flat Train station has professional staffs who are polite and can be firm. They practically look out for you as you cross to platform 2 on your way to Southern cross. Love the experience.

Got my petrol stolen while parked here. Did an overnight trip to Melbourne & when i came back, my fuel cap was broken and car completely empty of fuel. They stole over $100 worth of fuel in my car + damages. Please add cctv cameras and lights like Epsom Train Station.

Just a train station. Trains usually arrive on time. Although once I saw this idiot spray painting on every surface he could find . Even on someone’s car bonnet. The car was White. I feel sorry for the car owner. I yelled at him, I believe he was under the influence of drugs
Joshua D — Google review
It’s a train station. Trains come. Trains go. Sometime on time, often not. Regularly see some free street theatre with some of the locals who catch the train with you, which can range from entertaining through to a little bit scary at times

Old Tom Mine is a historical site located in the Box-Ironbark Forest, accessible from the Shadbolts Day Visitor area or Notley Camping area. The mine offers a glimpse into the Gold Rush days with its original reef mine, puddler, and water race. While it may feel isolated and desolate, it provides an opportunity to explore remnants of the past. The surrounding bush setting makes for a lovely picnic spot and offers areas for metal detecting.

Feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere And the mine it’s self is very short When we went there was an incredible amount of flys Looks cool And very deserty

Well if your into a bit of history and don't mind exploring it's worth the trip. Not a whole lot to see but there is a marked walk around the mine area. There is also some left over bits and bob's to be found. Google maps will take you pretty much to the site, the open cut area is north east from the tailings heap.

Great place to see a bit of our Goldfields history, lots of workings and detecting places for the detectorists. Lovely bush setting, excellent picnic area.
