Chinese restaurant
Asian restaurant
Nestled in a tranquil location across from Amstelveens Stadstuinen Park and conveniently close to a tram stop, Amber Garden is a remarkable destination that elevates Chinese fine dining. This restaurant beautifully blends Eastern and Western culinary traditions, showcasing an impressive menu that features specialties from various regions of China with a contemporary twist. A highlight is their signature Amber Beijing Roast Duck, which has garnered much acclaim.
My fav Chinese place in the Netherlands, as a Chinese :) My partner and I had a super sweet story with Amber garden. when we left the restaurant yesterday after dining there, we forgot my valentine's flower there - after calling the restaurant, the boss of the restaurant decided to drive all his way to bring the flower back to us! It was almost midnight and 40km of driving, so we were so surprised and grateful. Other than that, their food has been always so good and authentic since my first time dining there back to 2021. Amazing service, waiters are all super friendly and professional. Nice environment, decorated in both modern and traditional Chinese way. Best Peking duck you find in NL. Seasonal menu always surprises me, especially the chicken broth with Chinese bamboo. Don't miss out their house made Chinese appetizers and dessert!
J S — Google review
Somewhat disappointing. We asked the patron to provide us with some starters before the Peking duck arrived. We were given some nice options, but were surprised by a starter with Peking duck skin and caviar. Some consultation before bringing the most expensive supplement on the menu would have been nice. The ordered Chablis from 2021, €90 a bottle, turned out to be a 2023. When confronted about this, we were told that the 2023 costs almost the same. As compensation, we received a glass of red wine. Neatly arranged, but it was all just not quite right. The Peking duck, which everyone raves about, was on the dry side. At the end of the dinner I wondered whether this was really worth the €330 we spend. I suspect not.

Always my first choice for Chinese cuisine in the Amsterdam area. Really authentic and cooked with heart. The ambience is nice as well. They offer a seasonal menu that changes every few months. The menu includes dim sum, spicy dishes, noodles, and dumplings. There are also some vegetarian and vegan options. 🌱 The wine list is also well-curated and full of great selections. The service is excellent — the man in the black shirt has strong knowledge of wine 🍷, and the man with blonde hair offers warm, welcoming service.

A wonderful restaurant with amazing menu and delicious food! Authentic Chinese cuisine with amazing service right in the middle of amstelveen! I went with my family for dinner and it was a surprise to me to have such a special place near by where we don’t have to have a long ride to go to a nice restaurant. Now for food, the hot and sour soup was delicious, loaded with black pepper and can be made vegetarian Dumplings and dem sum is definitely the star of the show and probably why i will be visiting again! I had a vegetarian one filled with mushrooms and the kids had a lamb one and shrimps one. All was 10/10 For the main course we all were almost full, portions are quite large so I guess order less as it’s quite full filling. Seabass was delicious and the veggies were so made to perfection!
Ghada — Google review
“The only thing that remains constantly unchanged is the preservation of time-honored cooking methods and traditional craftsmanship. We inherit ancient culinary techniques, and savor seasonal delicacies due to reverence for the laws of nature.“ Doesn’t matter where I travel to, at some point I HAVE to have some Asian food. As much as I love food from every culture I crave for something that is familiar and comforting. ❤️ This place definitely hit the spot! Although hard to compare to the copious amounts of Asian restaurants we are spoiled with here in Vancouver, it was pretty dang good!

Very good experience. Service was very good. The food was very authentic and tasty. Highly recommend the duck which is superb.🤌🤌🤌 Thank you so much!
CH K — Google review
Fantastic modern Chinese restaurant, beautifully designed with spacious interior, top notch food and great wine list. What is there not to like? My favorite 2 dishes from last night came from the seasonal menu which I highly recommend, but really all the dishes including the classic like Beijing Duck are great. A place I always happily come back to!

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Aan de Poel is a renowned restaurant located outside of Amsterdam, known for its innovative cuisine and Michelin Star status. The opulent entranceway leads to both indoor and outdoor seating with exceptional views of the Poel Lake and Amsterdamse Bos. The restaurant offers a wide range of menu options, including delicious Indian dishes at their Indian Hut in Aalsmeer location. With its loyal following and elegant ambiance, Aan de Poel is considered one of the best restaurants for authentic dining experiences.
Absolutely fantastic food!!! I have never eaten in a restaurant like this, the explosion of flavours and textures in every bite is surreal, the presentation of the dishes is like a work of art. They have an infinite variety of wines. The service of the staff is excellent, they take care of every detail, the restaurant has a sober but warm and contemporary atmosphere. Coming to eat here is an experience that everyone should have at least once in their life.
Paula T — Google review
The best lunch we have ever had. If it were Dinner - I would say the same. The service here is a level above everything I have experienced. The staff is always there to help, answer questions, and hear your feedback. The chef is there to serve some of the dishes by himself. The scenery and atmosphere was a work of art on its own. We had a table were both seats turned towards the glass wall fronting the lake. We Watched the birds flying over, sometimes catching fish, with the high vegetation bending to the strong winds. And inside - a complete calm and warm atmosphere. The interior and the garden fronting the lake were really nice, we couldn't look at them enough. And the food- every single dish was beyond what we could imagine was possible to make with these ingredients. Top notch. I think the only thing that needs improvement is the coffee.
Leron F — Google review
I was in Amsterdam for 2 days, and I wanted to spend my last night dining here because of its quality reputation and lake locale outside of the city. Chef Stefan Van Sprang guides you through the menu and continually checks on you. The restaurant has a very peaceful and relaxing vibe. The menu was quite diverse with the best curry sauce and eel I've ever had. The caramel tart dessert had no business being that good. The non-alcoholic wines and service were top notch. This is one of the top restaurants in The Netherlands. Such culinary artistry 🎨👨‍🍳🤤
Dylan C — Google review
The restaurant offers elegant, beautifully presented dishes, though at times it felt like a bit too much for my taste. Some courses were softer in texture than I prefer, and as with many fine-dining places, the fixed multi-course menu included items like mussels that I don’t usually enjoy. Because of this, I’m not sure it was the best choice for me personally. That said, the atmosphere was refined, the service attentive, and sharing the evening with great company made it an enjoyable experience overall. In my opinion, however, the restaurant might be a little overrated compared to the expectations set by its Michelin status.
Gerald P — Google review
The ambience was great , sommelier stood out because of his personality and his service , the rest of the service was ok as the explanations of the food was not as explicit as other Michelin star restaurants I have been. The portions were really small , the bread , butter and the sauce was plain to be honest . For me this was one Michelin experience but not 2, I have been to better 2 star restaurants but this one didn’t do the cut for me somehow, however the food was still good, just didn’t meet the expectations of the 2 star. The red wine could have been a bit better I think , as compared to the other ones.
Subhodip R — Google review
Everything you'd expect from a Michelin Star restaurant. The staff, from the head chef to the sommelier to the servers, were all professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. The food was intentional and absolutely delicious. We did the signature menu (a tasting of the most popular dishes) and were not disappointed. Every component worked harmoniously to create a delicious bite. One (minor) criticism would be with the eel dish. It was called a "yakitori," but was neither served on a stick nor (as far as I could tell) wood-fired. It was still delicious, but a bit confusing. Again, a very minor criticism. As you might expect from any highly rated establishment, the meal was not cheap. For the two of us, the bill was around 600 euro. The majority of this was the meal itself, as the drinks were rather reasonably priced. All in all, if you're intent on treating yourself and others to a wonderful culinary evening, and cost is not a factor, I highly recommend Aan de Poel.
Bennywynn — Google review
Very good restaurant, the food was totally amazing! Loved the amuses and all the courses we had! Someone in the group had a shellfish allergy and the restaurant vhanged the courses for this person and still were amazing. We did call ahead for the allergy though. The allergy might have mixed a little as there was a small allergy reaction but nothing serious. The service was a little behind, food served without wine filled 2 times some interruptions during the speech. Overall great experience with every dish being amazing and really a small art piece. Just the service that could improve a little.

Restaurant
Housed in a historic windmill dating back to 1672, De Jonge Dikkert is a restaurant that offers casual fine dining cuisine. Situated along the Amstel river, this charming eatery is part of a collection of 375 restaurants across the Netherlands. The Oude Dorp neighborhood where it's located also features various cafes and restaurants, while the City Centre (Stadshart) provides an opportunity to combine shopping with excellent lunch and dining experiences.
Remarkable restaurant with a great deal of on-spot culinary experimentation. Refreshing contrasts and unexpected flavor outcomes made for a fantastic experience even if dishes are spelled out in the menu. Atmosphere and service were delightful with service starting at the terrace, then moving inside for the mains. A LOT of attention to detail. Hands-down recommended.
Loer E — Google review
Had dinner in early April 2024 - nothing so casual about this restaurant but was cosy despite it’s hush atmosphere. We ordered the typical starters, main & dessert - but what we had was more than we ordered. Each dish/ course was explained by the head server, presentation was beautiful and the texture & tastes were an explosion of colours. The beef was cooked perfectly, the seafood were done delicately and the desserts were too artistic to eat! Best sourdough bread with house-made butter, served creatively. Our servers were so professional and kept the pace of the dinner flowing. Only bug-bear, they do not have Moscato on the list, so had to settle for a Chardonnay which was not bad 😊
Adeline O — Google review
Been wondering this place for a while. I found the atmosphere great given you eat in a historical windmill. Service were also pretty good. But place were crowded inside a bit and time between courses were too much. We were there around 7pm and left around 11:30pm. Felt like table was empty large amount of time. We tried 6 course chef menu, 3 of them was mainly seafood based either fish or octopus. I am not a fan of seafood based courses but this doesn’t mean those are bad or anything. Overall we left happy but compared to our other michelin rest. experiences in other countries, there are improvement areas on service and food. Thanks for having us.
Yiğit K — Google review
A restaurant that appears on the Michelin Guide. We had the 7-courses menu, with matching wine pairing, and we enjoyed every single thing. I can't eat cocoa so they were very nice and replaced the chocolate mousse of the dessert with a pineapple one, and it was delicious!
Jose C — Google review
My family and I had an exceptional time at De Jonge Dikkert celebrating my dad's birthday. The staff went above and beyond to create the ultimate dining experience. The food surpassed expectations, undoubtedly it should deserve a Michelin star. Opting for the surprise menu added an extra layer of excitement, and the dishes turned out to be surprisingly amazing. The staff's knowledge and dedication to customer service were evident throughout the evening, enhancing the overall enjoyment. We are eager to return to De Jonge Dikkert and savor another delightful dining experience. Kudos to the restaurant for making my dad's birthday celebration truly memorable!

I wanted to eat at a Michelin rated restaurant and this one did not disappoint. I searched for a restaurant in a windmill and found this one and it’s also a Michelin rated restaurant which I’ve never ate out before. The Michelin rating is it as affordable but still it was pricey but well worth it. Definitely make a reservation you’ll need it. We arrived thinking it was not gonna be busy but within 30 minutes the restaurant was filled to capacity. We start with pre-cocktail drinks being Americans we thought we could order martinis but we decided just to have Jen and vodka on ice and that sufficed. The staff was very nice and willing to work with us and kept the same waiters the entire night we got to know them. The restaurant is candle very intimate. I think we all want to try everything on the menu.
Christopher C — Google review
The food was unbelievably delicious with so many different tastes in one! I ordered chief’s choice of 7 dishes and everything was tasty, made from fresh fish, meat and vegetables. The waiter was polite and nice: he announced every dish, was curios about our impressions. Though in total this dinner lasted around 2.5 hours, it was all in one experience which worth its money. P.s. 7 dishes are a lot of food, because there were 3 appetisers + 1 pre dessert additionally to our order.

Very friendly and service oriented staff and they are open for talking about food and drinks. Especially Jonne and Paul are excellent. Just awesome presentation of dishes with complex and delicious tastes. Every thing well prepared with dedication and live for food. Eating here is a treat. Beautiful wines and some craft beers.

Wine bar
Bar
Glouglou, a natural wine bar in Amsterdam, opened its doors in April 2015 and quickly became a pioneer of the natural wine revolution in the city. The cozy shabby-chic interior and generous back-street terrace attract crowds year-round. With a focus on natural wines, the bar offers a laid-back atmosphere with basic glassware and a simple wine list.
A perfect spot for natural wine lovers! We were visiting Amsterdam for the weekend, and decided to stop by this cute little spot and ended up staying for a couple of glasses. The menu was very interesting, and we were allowed to try some samples off the menu before having a glass. This made the overall experience more inviting & less daunting! Also the interior (and the toilets) are all decorated in a very cute kitschy way.

The atmosphere is nice. We had a charcuterie plate and a cheese plate. It was delicious. We also had two white wines. We went around 7pm on a weekend and it was full.

Such a cute place, excellent wine selection. This was the first time we really tasted a selection of natural wines and the staff made it so accessible. Very chill and laid back vibe. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful summer afternoon silping and people-watching. Very recommended!

I had a long day, nothing went according to the plan, tears in my eyes, I didn’t have food for the all day… I sit there it is 6pm, I decided to sit inside as I have to work and it is a beautiful day so as I have to send couple of emails, I don’t want to take a table of people who can actually enjoy the weather. There are barely 5 persons inside. 80% of the tables are free. Perfect ! It is back to school period, Thursday evening… not a massive traffic expected. I sit, take out my laptop, order my diner… and after 10min sitting someone tell me I can’t use my laptop. Guys I understand the policy when it is crowded or if I were smoking actually bothering someone but a touch of flexibility and humanity is not going to kill you. “It is the policy” she said as a robot could say. Cheers to “robot policies” taking over on human value and pragmatism. The men who took my order was lovely though.

Shout out to Antonio for (probably not) making and serving us the most amazing cocktails we tried! We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. Antonio, if you see this, we appreciate you. Boss, if you see this, give him a raise. We had one non alcoholic and a 4 rum alcohol coctail, for which we paid around 24 euros. We also got snacks and two water bottles. Great price for value! Thank you 🍹🥳

Gave us free snacks upon arrival, a bit strange flavours but definitely tasted homemade and enjoyed. Cocktails are €14-€20 ish. All very unique. The 3 servers were all very lovely and the bartender was working hard. Great dark and cozy atmosphere however quite close to other tables. Gave us water without asking and yummy free sweets with the bill. All in all lovely.

I had an incredible time here! The service was truly exceptional from the moment we walked in. Our server, (nice shirt guy), was super knowledgeable and made a fantastic recommendation for a drink based on what I usually like. The atmosphere was lively, great music, loved the music choices. It's the kind of place where you can catch up with friends, or have a date night.

Pub
Bar
Café 't Smalle is a traditional pub located in the charming Jordaan district of Amsterdam. Housed in a building dating back to 1780, which was originally a Hoppe distillery, this café exudes an old-world charm with its wood-paneled walls, vintage brass furnishings, and gleaming chandeliers. The canalside terrace offers a picturesque setting for enjoying hearty food and Belgian beers.
A simple pub without any frills but a great address right across the canals. Very friendly owner who helped recommend bar food to try. Come here for the outdoor seating by the canals on a warm spring/summer day on the weekend - vibes are immaculate under the sun. The outdoor seating is very limited however.
Stephanie H — Google review
Charming cafe with canal views and most delicious bites. I was told by many not to miss this spot on my visit and was so glad I chose to lunch here. I got the best advice from the bartender on what to order and left satisfied af. Will return every time I’m in town.

We had a short day in Amsterdam on what may have been the busiest the city has ever been- during sail 2025, which had not happened for 10 years. It was chaotic and crowded, but this cafe was a welcome bit of solice. Nice little outdoor tables, good beer selection, and the sausage with bread and kraut was the tasty snack I didn't know I needed. This cafe was absolutely the highlight of our day in Amsterdam.
Cassie D — Google review
Great experience! Bartender and service we're out of this world, even when busy. Would suggest this bar for the real feel of an Amsterdam brown bar experience, did I mention the food? Everydish we tried was really good, especially the smoked sausage with the pickanaise sauce. I would give it ten stars if I could. Got a handshake and a thank you for coming in.

Wine bar
Bar
Bubbles & Wines, nestled in the heart of Amsterdam on Nes Street, offers a charming and intimate setting perfect for romantic dates and quiet conversations. The venue boasts a selection of over 50 wines available by the glass, set amidst an inviting interior adorned with warm woods and soft lighting. This trendy wine bar is renowned for its extensive collection of wines and champagnes, providing 50 options by the glass and even more by the bottle.
This place was on my "Must Do" list for Amsterdam. When researching them I saw they had such a diverse and fun wine list with by the glass, bottle and tasting options. They aren't far from Dam Square, but set into a side street so much quieter and laid back. We enjoyed a champagne tasting that gave us 3 different champagnes to try for only $28! Our server explained each one to us and allowed us to ask any questions we had. We also had a glass of wine each before leaving because the atmosphere was so fun! We did not try the food as we had just eaten not long before getting there, but they do have food available that another table had and it looked very fresh and like it would pair well with your wines. The vibe here is so unique. I loved how laid back and comfortable this place was for how elite a wine list it has! There was no effrontery or snobbish attitudes just a group of people that seem to love wine and community. They have local art hanging and available for purchase and the staff took the time to give us the background of the artist and how they came to have their work available. This is the place where if I lived in Amsterdam I could see myself visiting at least once a week for a glass of wine and a chat. Highly recommend if you are in the area, especially if you love trying new and fun wine.
Rachel W — Google review
Overall a good wine bar, borderline 5 stars to me. They have a wide selection of wine by bottle and a decent selection of ~20 wines by the glass. I came there because I saw an enomatic (wine dispenser) machine but it’s actually meant for the staff only, not for the customers to self-service unfortunately. The prices were okay, a bit on the higher end. The interior and atmosphere was just fine

Wandering around the back streets of Amsterdam (lost) we stumbled upon 2 orange veuve chairs around a wine barrel. Behind them was this gorgeous hidden gem wine bar where we had the set of three tasting sparkling wines each, a charcuterie board and a cheese board. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly, food and drinks were SO GOOD - and decent value for money. (13 euros for the tasting 3 sparkling wines).

Stayed in a hotel in the same street and finally made it inside on my last day in Amsterdam. This wine bar/restaurant is absolutely adorable, the atmosphere inside was fun and moody. I didn’t have a reservation but they took us as a walk-ins, they were accommodating and the service was wonderful. Obviously the wine is good here, and the food to accompany them was excellent too, I think I ended up with 3 orders of oysters, and the charcuterie board was the perfect pairing. Really lovely place!

The owners Johnny and Sven were waiting on us the whole time and made us beautiful drinks and compared pictures of our dogs. We had a wonderful time, we’ve been back everyday of this trip. Perfect spot to hangout and have a nice glass of wine

we were the first one to arrive as it was the only wine bar open nearby . We sat outside and the server was so funny, kind and easy-going. We got a flight and some snacks. The restaurant has beautiful decor on the inside. But definitely come here again!

A delightful discovery tucked away in Amsterdam—Bubbles & Wines is an intimate little place that reminds you why wine bars exist. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between cosy and convivial, ideal for exploration. I began with a flight of French whites, which naturally included a Chablis—always a reliable benchmark for quality, and this one didn't disappoint. From there, I ventured into a few additional selections, each professionally suggested and properly served. The cheese selection deserves particular mention. Three varieties, all magnificent, and clearly curated with care rather than merely assembled. They paired beautifully with the wines and elevated the entire experience. The chap at the bar demonstrated genuine knowledge without pretension—refreshing in an era when wine bars can sometimes take themselves too seriously. Service was perfectly attentive. If you find yourself in Amsterdam with an appetite for good wine and some proper cheese, Bubbles & Wines is a worthwhile stop. You'll be rather pleased with yourself for having found it.

This is my favorite wine bar and place for charcuterie in Amsterdam! Great service and cute, quiet environment. I’ve now been here twice on two separate trips. Love the wine flights and the giant charcuterie boards. Highly recommend!

Really nice, welcoming place. Good atmosphere, good music. Can get quite busy. We sat upstairs, nice and comfy. Reasonably priced with very nice staff. Worth a visit if youre near Oosterpark.

I’ve been here a few times, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is always vibrant and welcoming to everyone, with excellent service from the charming staff. The vibe is hip yet relaxed — I just stopped in for a coffee and an incredibly tasty chicken sandwich. A real hidden gem right next to Oosterpark.

O stumbled upon this place because it was in the neighborhood where I was staying. I wanted a quick breakfast and it was a very pleasant surprise. I got a green shake with kale, apple, and a banana, with lots of pulp. Very refreshing! For the main course, I had a coconut yogurt and a fresh fruit bowl. It was the perfect amount , very fresh, and flavorful. Very fast service. I'm very pleased and would definitely come back to see what they have in store for dinner.

Great place to grab a drink and some snacks! The outdoor area is perfect for bigger groups—we had around 12–14 people and it worked out great. Even though it was busy, the service was solid and everything ran smoothly.

Really loved this cozy wine bar—it’s got such a French vibe that you almost forget you’re in Amsterdam. The jazzy music and warm ambiance make it perfect for a date or just catching up with friends. The wine selection is great, and they give you nice explanations to help you choose. The food was good too. Super cozy, friendly, and a spot I’d totally recommend for a relaxed night out.

A nice little wine bar with a variety of wines and snacks. No indoor seating on a 35° day was less than ideal but the people watching by the canal was great

A new discovery for us. One of the best bars in the area with a great wine menu and an experienced staff that is willing to tell you a 10 minute long story about each wine - and we're more than willing to listen. They have a nice selection of Italian wines, and our waiter Alessandro (?) was really helpful in choosing we all enjoyed his recommendations. The atmosphere inside is cozy too, although we stopped by for some drinks after dinner and it was quite late and dark at night. Would visit again, for sure to also try out their food.

Cocktail bar
Hiding in Plain Sight is a unique and must-visit cocktail bar located on the renowned corner of Rapenburg and Peperstraat in Amsterdam. Despite its pretentious marketing, the bar offers excellent award-winning cocktails. The 20's style lounge bar serves an eclectic mix of drinks, with mixologists experimenting with new flavors while maintaining authenticity. The bar has no signage out front and minimal online presence, adding to its mysterious allure.
My journey with "Hiding in Plain Sight" began back in 2018, a recommendation from a hotel concierge that was validated by slithering online research. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I had stumbled upon something special. The cocktails were more than just drinks; they were a revelation, each one a perfect balance of flavour and artistry. The service was impeccable, with a bartender who was not only friendly but a true master of their craft. I still remember my surprise and delight when I was served a drink with a pasta straw—a simple yet brilliant detail that spoke volumes about their commitment to innovation and sustainability, long before it became a trend. That first visit was so memorable, I found myself returning in 2023 and 2024. While some things have evolved, the core spirit of the place remains unchanged. It’s still my go-to spot for unique, creative cocktails that push the boundaries of mixology. The atmosphere is just as welcoming, a place where you can easily strike up a conversation and, as I did, make new friends. Hiding in Plain Sight isn’t just a bar; it's an experience—a true Amsterdam gem that consistently delivers on its promise of exceptional drinks, fantastic service, and an unforgettable time. Whether you're a first-timer or a returning fan, this is a place that will leave a lasting impression.

Cool vibes and expertly made drinks. The old fashioned with truffled honey syrup is arguably the most interesting drink I've ever had. Really liked our time here and would come back again.

Awesome bar with delicious drinks. Website a bit vague, but lots of great reviews on Google and Reddit. Was able to phone in a same day reservation. Vibe was great, along with excellent service.
Tommy N — Google review
I visited this bar on a recommendation by a friend. In an evening, all by myself, as I sauntered into this bar, on my last night in Europe, I wasn't imagining a lot with my mind. This bar and the bartender, Artiom, turned out to be the perfect companion on my last evening. The cocktails are potent and I was pretty buzzed even after my first one. But I dared to take a second and I was as happy as I have ever been walking out of a bar. It's a place to go to unwind at the end of the day. A must visit and a change in experience in Amsterdam
Saurov K — Google review
Everything was great. The staff is super polite, you get water and popcorn on the house. The cocktails are made to perfection and also unique. The atmosphere is super cosy and you feel a little bit like you are hiding in plane sight.

Lovely little cocktail bar with expertly made drinks and a lovely quiet atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the drinks reflected the pricings. I would definitely come back here!

Hiding in Plain Sight cocktail bar in Amsterdam was an incredible experience! We visited before dinner and were immediately impressed by the semi-hidden location—it’s tucked away without bright lights or a large sign, making it feel like a true hidden gem. Upon arrival, we were greeted with glasses of water and a thoughtfully designed cocktail menu that included their philosophy, which was a nice touch. The cocktails themselves were stellar—beautifully crafted, perfectly balanced, and full of unique flavors. At €17-20 per cocktail, we found the pricing reasonable, especially compared to similar bars in major U.S. cities. The service was excellent, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff who clearly had a passion for their craft. It was a memorable experience, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch cocktails in a cozy, intimate setting.

Located in the serene Flevopark, Nieuwe Diep Distillery is a charming hideaway housed in a 19th-century pump house. The distillery offers a picturesque pondside terrace where visitors can enjoy an array of beverages including Dutch gin and liqueurs, all crafted on-site. The distillery continues the ancient art of distilling by producing its own jenevers, bitters, eau de vie, and fruit jenevers based on rediscovered traditional recipes.
A hidden gem tucked away in a park far from center city. Wonderful Jenever selection poured by a knowledgeable staff. Lovely spot to enjoy some peace and sip some drinks. Quite a tranquil spot with seating indoors, amongst the trees, and along the pond. Some snack options, beer, and Jenever available. They also sell Jenever bottles if you find one you like. Be prepared it's a 5-7 minute walk from the nearest road with no signs providing direction. I look forward to returning to this tranquil spot.

Absolutely lovely place to get drunk :) The serve great craft beer and huge variety of liquors with any flavour you can imagine (banana liquor, peppermint liquor, ..). Also plum genever. Restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque Amstel River, just a stone's throw from Amsterdam, SAAM restaurant made its grand debut in November 2022 after an extensive renovation of the beloved Klein Paardenburg. This culinary gem is brought to life by a dynamic team led by renowned sommelier Koen van der Plas and co-owner Henk-Jan Beltman of Tony’s Chocolonely fame.
After a long day of work, we decided to go out. I found this gem scrolling through the list and decided to make a reservation. It was easy to make a reservation and after a long hard day, not having to choose what to eat was ideal. Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly staff members who took our coats and stored them safely and proceeded to show us to our table. We were already impressed with the cleanliness and attention to the details to create an amazing dining experience. It was by far, the best experience I’ve had thus far from the entering the door, and even the following day having a rusk with coffee in the morning. The taste of the food was absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was extremely well thought out and the flavour combinations were out of this world and with each dish being unique in its own way but also intertwining with the other courses creating a flow of amazing experience of delightful taste sensations. To say that I recommend it is a vast understatement. It is definitely a place I would visit again and would recommend to everyone for an amazing experience. There are always a few points of improvement: 1. I found the younger staff more “rushed” when explaining the dish. Relaxing is part of the experience and if you feel stressed and rushed, so do I, slow down a bit. 2. It was quite load where we were seated and felt a bit cramped up between two other couples. A bit more space would be appreciated to add to the experience. Overall, amazing experience!

Fantastic food, service and ambiance! This is truly a great fine dining place. Lots of attention to detail, the price/quality ratio is right and it’s just delicious and beautifully presented. We had one veggie and one normal 4 course meal, both truly great! We will be coming back. Cannot wait to sit on the terrace by the water in summer. The open kitchen cooking is great! And the staff is very knowledgeable also about the wine. Lastly, I love the attention to detail in the bathrooms and how the water in the bathroom comes out warm not freezing cold!

What a nice experience for dinner. I am a South African, and it was great to see my countries’ cuisine appreciated to the extent that it deserves. SAAM is a wonderful restaurant with wonderful staff. Even the south African touches in the bathrooms are amazing. The food was all absolutely outstanding, and the SAAM tea cocktail is something I'd highly recommend before heading on to their curated wine list. We enjoyed the 4-plate menu and each course was just amazing. The sour dough with the haring butter is to die for and the sweets that accompany the coffee too. Being on the water in the Dutch "country side" is always a treat as well. Absolutely absolutely recommend this to everyone🙌

Step into the Prohibition era-style ambiance of Door 74, a hidden gem in Amsterdam. This exclusive cocktail bar exudes an air of mystery with its discreet entrance and reservation-only policy. The interior is adorned with dark wood and elegant Art Deco accents, transporting guests to the 1920s. The staff, dressed to match the vintage vibe, provide exceptional service as you indulge in classic and creative cocktails.
It's a speakeasy bar, easily to miss it. Ring the bell once you find the door, and the staff will come out to greet. Had better make a reservation before heading as it's a popular bar! Staff are friendly. Although we need to share table with other customers, the vibe is still cozy and comfortable. They provide a wide range of cocktails, all are special. I like their menu! Clearly describe the drink and its price. Really love Aztec Arcade, the coconut rum and umeboshi are made to ice cube, so the flavor are gradually merged into the tequila. Very creative!

Small and intimate speakeasy bar. Once you find the door you ring the bell to be let in! Staff very friendly and talked us through the menu. A wide range of speciality cocktails available. I do prefer to see the glasses on the menu as it’s very hard to tell sometimes whether you are getting a long or short cocktail. I am not a fan of long drinks full of ice. Great to try new cocktails and we had a couple each. Seating and tables in the booths could do with a revamp and when I went to the toilet my shoes were sticking to the floor! Nice experience though.

Indonesian restaurant
Ron Gastrobar Indonesia, located in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, is a successful venture by Chef Ron Blaauw, known for his culinary expertise in Amsterdam. The restaurant offers a variety of dining options including two rijsttafels and an extensive a la carte menu featuring dishes like Udang laut peteh and Tahu Telor.
This is a must try place when visiting Amsterdam! It's a bit out of the way from the main touristy spot but all the more reason to make a trip out of it. The choices that they offer would work best if you come with a group so you can try all kinds of items, but between the two of us, my wife and I shared a 12 bowl Rijsttafel combo was excellent. Great flavors, textures, variety. Gotta go!
Paul M — Google review
This wasn’t my first time having Indonesian food, but it was my first time trying it outside of Indonesia. Since Indonesian cuisine is one of the most popular in Amsterdam, we decided to give this restaurant a try, and I’m so glad we did. The atmosphere and decor were beautiful, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. They were friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. We had a large group with all kinds of dietary restrictions, including two pescatarians, one vegetarian, two people who don’t eat pork, and one person with a severe sensitivity to MSG and high-glutamate foods. That means she has to avoid anything slow-cooked or made with broths and sauces that release high levels of glutamate during cooking. Needless to say, the chef had a huge challenge to work with. Despite that, they never once made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The food took a while to come out, understandably so, but everything was handled with care and attention. They made sure everyone had something to eat, offering thoughtful substitutes for each person’s needs. Everything was delicious, but a few dishes really stood out. I usually don’t eat lamb because I don’t like the taste or the smell, but I mistakenly tried the lamb yesterday and was so pleasantly surprised. It was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and didn’t have that usual lamb-like taste or scent. It ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The beef stew was also cooked perfectly; the meat was so tender it melted in my mouth, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. Overall, the food was amazing, but what truly made the experience special was the kindness and patience of the staff. The chef even came out personally to talk to one of our friends to make sure he fully understood her sensitivities and could prepare her meal safely. We left full, happy, and so grateful for the thoughtful service, warm hospitality, and wonderful

I went for lunch on a Sunday and had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, that service was outstanding and the atmosphere was great both inside and on the tables outside. I definitely recommend it.

We made a reservation, and it was a busy saturday night, so I recommend making a reservation. We were welcomed very friendly, and our table was ready for us. The bartender was very considered of my friends citrus allergy, and made a surprise cocktail for me since I didn't know what to get. It was absolutely delicious, and we were seated right at the bar, so we could see all the bartenders working their magic. Every single bartender had a little chit chat with us, which felt so welcoming and friendly! I also had a mocktail, and that one was just as delicious as their alcoholic drink! We had a fun evening! 100% recommend going here!

An absolutely charming, little bar. Make sure you reserve in advance as they are small and extremely popular, a must-visit bar should you ever venture into Amsterdam. I'd rank this bar to the likes of Satan's Whiskers in London for the uniqueness along with the amazing bartenders (plenty of humour especially if you get seated in the bar area), they conjure up amazing drinks beyond the quirky menu and classic cocktails.

The bar was amazing. The biggest bar I personally ever seen with such a big variety of alcohol. Their classic cocktail with genevver and lime/lemon was nice. The Piccadilly martini was very strong and had an awesome flavor. I recommend it 100%. You should come early maybe 5 minutes before it opens to have a great spot in the corner.

The drinks were very good. I really liked the atmosphere and vibe. You should probably call ahead as the place is very tight with a bar section, 4 tables and 2 couches. We were lucky that there was space. You can get everything from affordable drinks to drinks that cost $500+ The flying Dutchman drink was a good choice. Starts sour and ends crisp.

Their wine list is one of the most unique lists we’ve seen in a while and their prices are fair. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Hint - share some of their main courses as appetizers. You won’t regret it. Thanks chef!

I came here because of the reviews and photos, and honestly, they were spot on. The service was excellent—fast, attentive, and really focused on each table, giving that little extra attention you sometimes need, especially when there are so many options and you don’t know where to start. Everyone was lovely and very professional. We ordered the bread and olives—the olive oil was so good I could have eaten it with a spoon. The roasted beet came with a blue cheese foam, and we ended up dipping our bread in the remaining sauce. This dish was very original, and the combination of flavors was incredible! We also had the catch of the day, which was so tender it could be cut with a fork! Well-cooked fish never fails, and this was delicious. The roasted potatoes came with a warm sauce on top—so comforting! Finally, the desserts. The highlight was the saffron semifreddo! I almost want to cry because I don’t know if I’ll ever taste anything like it again… with those macadamia nuts, it was absolutely spectacular. Highly recommended!!

Small and cozy restaurant & wine bar Long wine list Food was very good Sometimes we had to wait a bit too long between the dishes and they are not too big (for the share dining style). Place is cozy but some tables are very close to each other, so the conversation might not be super smooth.

Awesome service. Good was great, we had the tartare, but the wine list is the true forte of this place. They have Chateau d’yquem by the glass, which is nice for the people that didn’t try it yet. I would come back.

The food is delicious and it comes pretty fast even on a weekend night. The decor is nice and tasteful, nothing too much, but just enough space if you want to stick a conversation with someone at the next table that is possible, but if you want an intimate dinner is also great. The STAFF - the most friendly staff I saw in Amsterdam. Lovely people. They also have an amazing selection of wines and the location is great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

What a delightful place to dine! Great, friendly, attentive service, with great wine recommendations. Nice atmosphere - buzzy but not too noisy. Great food and a very extensive wine list, with some unique, original wines. Overall great value for money, for a pretty cool and high quality place! Would definitely go back.

At Ooker, a charming restaurant nestled at Amsterdam’s Frederiksplein, we savored an exquisite dinner prior to our concert at Carré. Our meal commenced with delicious bread and olives, featuring Metro’s exceptional sourdough bread. My wife and I indulged in perfectly prepared duck breast, accompanied by delectable sauce and a harmonious balance of flavors. We complemented our meal with two glasses of red wine, from the extensive wine list offered by the establishment, which occasionally hosts wine tasting events. For dessert, we indulged in a traditional brownie with popcorn ice cream. Throughout our dining experience, we were consistently met with warmth and professionalism by the staff, particularly Marie, a French waitress. Highly recommended for a cozy and memorable dinner, Ooker offers an exceptional dining experience. Google, am I allowed to give 6 stars? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ciel Bleu is a luxurious restaurant located on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. Boasting two Michelin stars, this venue offers creative European cuisine with a French influence. Executive Chef Onno Kokmeijer and Chef de Cuisine Arjan Speelman curate exquisite seasonal dishes that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. The restaurant's panoramic views of Amsterdam make it a popular choice for special occasions.
We had a wonderful dinner for my girlfriend’s birthday, and everything was absolutely superb. The staff was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the wine pairings were perfect. We especially want to highlight the skill and professionalism of the maître d’, who was always present on the floor, personally attending to each table. Compliments to the entire team for an amazing experience!!

We had a wonderful dinner! We were here on a special occasion a collab with De Threeswijkhoeve and Ciel Blue also in combination with Brut champagne! From the moment you arrive it is a warm welcome and a great service. The Madam of Brut Champagne gave us a warm welcome with some nice story about the start of Brut. This was amazing to know that the family started as a butcher family. After a nice glass of champagne in the lounge we went to our table. The interior is classic and robust. The chairs are very comfortable. Every dish looked amazing and the taste of it was wonderful. Something we never had experience this good. We had a pairing Champagne arrangement and it was so nice to be able to have a taste of all these delicious amazing Champagnes of Brut. The service was next level good. Everyone made you feel at home and have a chat with you. They were easygoing but really professional. A cherry on the pie was a walk through the kitchen. Were we met the chefs. The evening was full of surprises and laughter. You can easy park at the Okura hotel. And the guidance to the restaurant is very welcome. This is really an experience that you should try! Thanks to everyone to make this wonderful evening extra special!

Ciel Bleu was on top of our list of michelin restaurants to try. The reception was extremely welcoming, the staff inmediately made a favourable impression with the way they welcomed us as guests. We were seated at a window table. Due to the special occasion of our visit I had specifically requested this seating and I was thrilled Ciel Bleu had accomodated my request. I chose the prestige 8 course menu, and my wife chose the 8 course vegetarian menu. As a starter I also chose the beluga caviar, which was incredibly tasty, it really is the best caviar there is quality wise. It was served in a beautiful way and the presentation of the caviar was interesting and educational. The food was good, but we didnt think it was exceptional. There were some memorable dishes such as the bluefin with caviar and the lobster with a truly delicious passion berry sauce. Other dishes did not make such a big impression. For instance the wagyu a5 dish was served with a very strong aleppo pepper sauce that dominated the whole dish and veiled the other tastes. What also was a bit of a disappointment was the fact that my wifes "vegetarian menu" dishes sometimes consisted of the same ingredients of my meat and fish dishes but than simply without the meat and fish...I feel this was a missed chance and it came across as a bit lazy. Ciel Bleu please consider making a vegetarian tasting menu that consists of original and special dishes , for a restaurant of this caliber I really expect creativity. What we absolutely loved of Ciel Bleu was the truly incredible service. The staff was on top of their game. Friendly and professional. Not overbearing but warm and knowledgeable. We were treated like royalty and the remarkable service paired with the incredible view made for a memorable evening, a perfect high class night out with spectacular views.

Service was the best I've ever had, and the atmosphere is wonderful with a breathtaking view of Amsterdam. As for the food, I felt the first half of the menu was top-tier for 2-star restaurants, but the second half of the menu fell off a bit below average for the category. (we didn't get the wagyu upgrade) Wine pairing was superb all along the way, especially the reds in the 2nd half of the meal (which compensated very well for the weaker dishes!). The deserts were sadly the weakest part of the evening, and even the paired wine was a disappointment as it did not hold up to sweetness of the Nougat dish. Overall, based on my experience, I'd say Ciel Bleu sits comfortably in the middle of the 2-star range in terms of the food itself. In terms of the overall experience I'd place it near the top.

Came with for a business dinner. Service was excellent. Food was A-OK (nice presentation; definitely not michelin star good). But I got food poison from eating here. I needed to visit the toilet multiple team by 3/4 of the meal. Will I recommend this restaurant? Definitely no. #1 food poisoning was not fun at all, #2 food just wasn't tasty Only come here if you prefer the presentation over the food itself, so you want to impress someone.

2 Michelin-Star ⭐️ ⭐️ Fine Dining In The Sky at Ciel Bleu, nestled within luxurious Hotel Okura Amsterdam 🇳🇱 From exquisite lobster and Wagyu A5 to the perfect wine pairings, every moment was exceptional. And the sunset view from the highest floor, with a glass of Krug Champagne 170ème Édition, was simply spectacular. A truly unforgettable culinary journey! ❤️
Stefano M — Google review
Consistently delivering the epitome of all aspects of fine dining from food, presentation, service, and wine to attention to detail. The prestige and caviar experience menus provide the best opportunity to try all of the chefs signature dishes, all of which are executed to perfection. One of the best parts of the menu design is that you get such a variety of flavors and textures in each plate. Standouts were the red mullet, the Toro, the "mer fruits", the lobster and the wagyu. If you go with the caviar experience each of the already opulent dishes is taken to another level with a pairing of caviar which complements the dish perfectly. Over the course of the dinner you end up trying at least five types of caviar. The wine list is formidable and the sommelier has the knowledge to help you make the best choices for your palate to complement the flavors. I have had both one of my all time favorite red and white wines on different visits here. The multilingual staff are extremely attentive and make sure you and your gusts have a truly special experience. If you are celebrating something special, this is really the place to do it in Amsterdam as the view provides a amazing sunset view of the city from the 23rd floor of the okura. You get to see the sunset over the whole city all the way to nord.

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of dining at Ciel Bleu and the experience has stayed with me. The service was exceptionally attentive; the staff took the time to explain each dish with great care and precision, adding a special touch to the culinary experience. The creativity in the presentation of the dishes was impressive (see attached photos). Each plate was a work of art, not only visually appealing but also inviting to taste. The balance and surprise of flavors showcased true craftsmanship and passion in the kitchen. Ciel Bleu is a restaurant where both service and cuisine are at an outstanding level. It is a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique culinary experience. I will definitely come back soon to celebrate my birthday there.

Proeflokaal Arendsnest is a charming bar located in the picturesque Jordaan neighborhood, adorned with copper pipes and wood-panelled walls. It stands out as the only spot in Amsterdam exclusively dedicated to offering over 100 beers from Dutch breweries. The bar features a warm and inviting atmosphere, with outdoor tables situated on the Herengracht canal.
There are so many varieties of Beer's available. Around 50 types on tap only. Timothy was very friendly and provided details of every beer you're having. If you are at Central area then you have to come here. Just loved it!!

Phenomenal craft beer spot in historic Amsterdam specialized in Dutch offerings. Nicely curated selection, offering around 50 draft beer rotating options. They cover a great gamut of styles, contemporary and classic pours, with special releases in a nicely maintained set up. They also have some selected bottles and cans, and a few designated offerings that can be taken to go. Snack food in the form of charcuterie and cheese boards offer plenty of Netherlands options. Portions are generous and tasty. The venue´s decor has a classic copper and wood feel with some breweriana. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed with indoor and outdoor seating by the canal. Staff is very professional, knowledgeable, and affable. They offer courteous sample pours to explore some options, and do know the craft and hospitality business very well. I saw bartenders being exemplary, courteous, and very professional managing with dexterity and elegance the rare potentially difficult patron. The pub is part of a group that has other venues associated around town with a more international range of ales. The specialization of this one into the Dutch craft beer scene is very notable, offering a very enjoyable insight into their brews. It's a compulsory stop for the Amsterdam visit.

Wonderful selection of Dutch beers and amazing cheese platter for snacking. If you have time there is 3 additional bars that collaborate in a one day challenge of tasting a beer all 4 bars for a free shirt. It was a fun way to try the local bars and take back a souvenir from our trip.

From the moment you step inside, you can feel the amazing ambiance. The wide selection of high-quality beers can be perfectly paired with delicious appetizers. Prices are quite reasonable for Amsterdam. The bartenders are polite, friendly, and always helpful. I’m sure I’ll be coming back on every visit and I’ve already started recommending this place to my friends.
Ozan C — Google review
As a decades long global beer hunter, Arendsnest is one of the world's best. While other beer bars tend to focus solely on their own brews or feature a menu of global beers longer than War and Peace, Ardensnest focuses on Dutch beers. There's a few guest taps for contrast, but the innovation and quality of Dutch brewers, in a Dutch only atmosphere, is the primary delivery. Ardensnest is primarily a neighborhood bar, in a relatively quiet part of Amsterdam, where locals and a few fortunate beer tourists gather to enjoy the close, friendly space and a few incredible beers.

Cafe Gollem Raamsteeg, located between Spuistraat and the Singel canal in Amsterdam, is a cozy real ale bar housed in a 100-year-old liqueur distillery. It was the first to introduce Belgian and foreign beers to the city back in 1974. Despite being smaller than its sister branches, it offers an intimate historic setting with 14 beers on tap, including their prized IPA, and over 200 bottled varieties.

Restaurant
Choux is a relaxed eatery in Amsterdam known for its creative tasting menu featuring seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant offers a meticulously crafted rotating menu with captivating options like pigeon leg confit and butter beans adorned with edible flowers. It is conveniently located near Station Centraal and offers an affordable early dining experience with their Theater Menu. Choux originated from two successful pop-up restaurants before settling in its current spacious location overlooking the Ij waterfront.
An Unforgettable Culinary Experience. A Must-Do! We had the pleasure of indulging in the four-course vegetarian menu, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish was a masterpiece, visually stunning and thoughtfully crafted with carefully selected ingredients. The flavors were perfectly balanced, creative, and elevated with a unique, personal touch that made every bite memorable. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. The appetizers were exquisite and set the tone for the rest of the meal, while the dessert was a delightful finale, both elegant and satisfying. A special mention goes to our waitress, who truly enhanced the experience. She was not only knowledgeable and informative, but also incredibly patient and genuinely kind. She answered all of our questions with care and enthusiasm, making us feel warmly welcomed and well taken care of. If you’re seeking a refined dining experience that blends artistry, flavor, and flawless hospitality, this is an absolute must.

It was a great experience and time at Choux. Especially, their vegetarian forward dishes made our evening. The selection of ingredient, freshness and the presentation was great. So chill, so comforting yet very delicious. Loved it!

Found this place by pure chance as I was scrolling through a Reddit post. Someone commented about Choux having a fantastic vegetable focussed tasting menu, a wide range of wines and fermented drinks, as well as juices made in-house and that intrigued me quite a bit. I visited with my best friend and Choux didn’t disappoint. The restaurant vibes were very nice and unpretentious as well as fully packed with dining guests. Every dish tasted so unique and different, and paired well with the drinks the waitstaff had offered. I didn’t think I’d enjoy eating vegetables as much as I did that night when I was there. If you don’t drink alcohol much like me then just let them know and they will suggest non-alcoholic pairings for you. Would definitely visit again because it seems the menu is always changing as well. There’s really no menu, so you don’t really get to know what you’re being served until it shows up on your table. You just have to pick the amount of courses you want and the waitstaff will explain to you what the dishes are as they are being served to you. I like surprises so this was an enjoyable experience for me. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions I recommend letting them know with your reservation in advance.

We were really looking forward to this meal since we heard good things and had high expectations- and Choux did not disappoint. I even made the mistake of assuming all dishes would be vegetarian (not true) and they accommodated me last minute which was incredible. All the staff we interacted with were excellent! Special shout out to Igor and their customer service- it was above and beyond :) The food was full of flavour, with really creative combinations which are rare to find in plant first cooking. All the dishes were so beautifully presented, and staff took their time explaining them to us which we appreciated. I only have the picture of the first course because we genuinely were just took busy enjoying all the others the moment they arrived!

The entire time we were there I thought the staff were being rude. Much later, when we were back in the U.S. I realized. They were being that way because we sat indoors and everyone was being sat outside, which was a real nice area. We only sat inside because we were going to just have a fast beer. I am sure the reason staff was being this way...it was the day after King's Day!! I can't even imagine what they all went through on King's Day. I completely understand now! I did have a great conversation with the bartender about her tattoos...something we love. This place has great beer and a view that is outstanding...stop in, but sit outside lol!!

Very nice place as seen in pictures and video I uploaded in this post. Beer was delicious as always in Amsterdam, the view is wonderful, lots of fresh air, has many sits and different spots within the restaurant. The staff very helpful and straight forward as it should be all around the world. They don´t ask for tip as it is usual in Netherland, some places do ask for tip and for us Americans it´s uncomfortable to say no, here you won´t deal with that :) You can check the beers and food options in the pictures on this post. Didn´t try the food that´s why I didn´t put stars on it, I believe it should be great as in most Amsterdam Dutch-places.

A wonderful historic spot dating back to 1695, originally built as the house of the sluice gatekeeper in Amsterdam. The building has a charming tilt, adding to its unique character, and it’s perfectly located by the historic canals near Nieuwmarkt, offering beautiful views of the water and bridges. Cocktail bar
Pulitzer's Bar is a glamorous and charming hotel bar located in the Pulitzer Hotel, just a short distance from the Tulip Museum. The bar exudes old-world charm and offers custom-made artisanal cocktails and upscale bites. Nestled in one of Amsterdam's most gracious canals, this hidden gem is designed to reflect the city's artisan culture through its elegant decor and menu. The bar boasts a separate grand entrance, adding to its allure.
Lovely place! we popped by for a quick drink before dinner for my girlfriend’s birthday. The waiter immediately brought us 2 glasses of prosecco on the house, although I specified we came just for a quick drink in the reservation. The cocktails were really tasty! All in all nice experience! The prices are on par with other upper priced cocktail bars of Amsterdam.
Javid A — Google review
Two weeks ago, my partner and I visited your bar with high expectations, hoping for a refined cocktail experience in what we had heard was one of Amsterdam’s top-rated spots. We were initially pleased to be seated at a lovely table by the window — unfortunately, everything positive ended there. We found the cocktail menu disappointingly limited, with a noticeable lack of variety. The majority of the drinks featured Bacardi-based spirits, which felt more like a branding push than a curated selection for discerning guests. At €20 per cocktail, we expected a sophisticated and balanced drink — instead, they were underwhelming and noticeably lacking in alcohol content. To make matters worse, the attitude of the staff left much to be desired. The bartenders and servers came across as cocky and self-satisfied, seemingly more interested in projecting an image than delivering genuine hospitality. For a bar that markets itself as high-end, the service felt amateur and inattentive, far from the five-star experience one would expect. All in all, it was a disappointing evening that did not justify the price or the reputation. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it reflects a gap between your brand image and the actual guest experience.

Beautiful space. Excellent team running the place. Posh, elegant atmosphere. Great music. Highly recommended. I did not enjoy the Italian red wine by the glass. The nose and taste were both odd. The other wines by the glass were great.

Always a pleasure to return to this bar. One of the nicer venues I have visited. Great service and delicious (if pricey) cocktails. Great date night venue.
Lloyd B — Google review
The service is great. The signature cocktails, which are apparently in partnership with a "fragrance house" from the US (so much so that you can not ask for changes to them) are hit and miss. The two people I was with had decent coktails but my two sognature cocktails felt both very very underpowered. They both tasted like mocktails, the spirits in them were not detectable at all. I was hoping for more at a price of around 20 euro per cocktail. In the end what both me and my company enjoyed more was the bar's interpretation of classic cokctails (not on the menu) rather than their signature ones. I had a great old fashioned and a friend a very good negroni, both tasting different and better then the what we were used to.
Tudor R — Google review
We were so glad the Concierge was able to accomodate our two tables of 4 reservation and place us at a larger table. The drink menu and their particular take on cocktails was ideal. Always a good problem when there are four or five cocktails you juat cant decide on which.
Michael S — Google review
Poor cocktail selection (maybe 10 at most) , only two alcohol free options. Asked for a coffee, but they won't make it for you (although they use espresso in one of their cocktails). Cocktail is 30% liquid 70% ice block, for 20 eur a glass is a theft honestly. Would not suggest.

Fancy french inspired special restaurant near Anne Frank House. It came highly recommended by a foodie sommelier from Amsterdam and it lived up to the hype. First the atmosphere is super charming and warm - perfect after an emotionally intense visit to the excellent Anne Frank Museum.Secondly, the service was pretty good once they figured out what our dietary restrictions were. Shout out to Audje who took care of use for about 2.5 hours. We were chatting away and didn’t want the experience to end! Oh and the food! Wow. Very interesting combination of textures. Very creative and very well plated. Delicious too! Honestly the chocolate dessert may have bee one of my top desserts ever! And regarding drinks I enjoyed my Chartreuse.

1. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre to bad with strange combinations that didn’t seem to work together. For example, a coated and possibly deep fried scallop with blood pudding. And the coating on the scallop had sugar in it? 2. Was told I was getting venison for the main course but it was wild boar. Which probably doesn’t matter because you really do not have a choice of dishes anyway. The sauce was nice but the meat was completely overcooked, past well done, tough, dry and had a liver kind of texture. 4. There was a “truffle” dish but it seemed to be just mushroom. There was no truffle smell or taste. 5. The cardamom ice cream was nice. 6. We started our meal at 5:30 pm and got our last course just after 8 pm with long waits between courses. We were seated at the counter on high hard wooden stools. Very uncomfortable. By 7 pm, we were crammed in between other couples. It was hot and after 2 hours and 40 minutes, my legs and back hurt! 7. The service and the wine were excellent.

Restaurant
Scheepskameel is an upscale restaurant located on the Marineterrein in Amsterdam, offering a local menu and an impressive selection of German wines. The restaurant's philosophy revolves around sourcing exceptional produce and preparing it in a simple manner to highlight the quality of the ingredients. The menu features European dishes with a focus on (raw) seafood, grilled vegetables, and roast meat complemented by carefully crafted sauces.
A trendy restaurant with some creative ideas and good execution. It is casual and cozy but also enough of a fine dining destination to make you want to return for a new experience the next time. The German wines are excellent and pair well with the light dishes. Staff is young and friendly though they rotate around in a rather amusing chaos that reminds me of a casual izakaya in Tokyo.

They have a great terrace especially when the weather is nice. You can start with a drink and few snacks on the terrace with a great view. Dining happens indoors which one of the biggest places I have seen for a fine dining restaurant. They offer more of a “casual” fine dining experience. It’s very welcoming, service is really good, and has a very spacious dining area. We had the a la carte option, since we wanted to choose our dishes ourselves. I had the watermelon salad, lobster and the entrecôte later on(which I don’t have the picture of); everything was super delicious. Everything was super delicious. They have a germany based wine menu, which they do a good job with recommendations matching your food. I think the place is towards the expensive place in the spectrum, but they do offer good food, wine and service. At the end we had dessert wine and cheese, which I liked the match. Highly recommend the place. (If you go all pre-drinks, 3 course meal+1 matching wine, dessert wine+cheese; you end up around +-300€ for 2 people )

Overall it was a nice dinner The entrecôte was really the star, very well executed 👌 We also enjoyed the desserts and the wine For sure a nice place to try out one time, won’t repeat probably but the staff was very nice and the service was good

Outstanding experience at the great harbor in Amsterdam. Have to compliment on their professional personnel who paid much attention to all guests but weren’t intrusive. We had peppers, lobster tail and big grilled seabass. The lobster was fresh and delicious, with nice creamy sauce. Seabass was quite big (800g) but kept its delicious taste and wasn’t overloaded with spices or anything. Were surprised by their selection of wines and friendly prices (6-9 euro per glass). They serve German wines only, so pay attention if you like it. Finished with a small tarteletter with raspberry. Great atmosphere.

I loved this restaurant. Local products, Dutch cuisine elevated and fresh seasonal dishes. We didn’t order anything specifically and the chef made for us the menu. I enjoyed a lot being surprised and this place has changed my idea of Dutch food, when made with love it’s definitely really good! I will definitely come back and I have already recommended this restaurant to family and friends.

Edit 2: This place just keeps getting better and better. Tuesday evening and a full house 👏🏻👏🏻. Once more a fantastic dinner Edit: Updated from 4 to 5 stars.Second time we went here was significantly better (and more fun) Old: Was expecting better for this price level. Don't get me wrong the food tasted really good all the German wines were excellent. I was just missing the sizzle and creativity in the dishes. It wasn't in the taste and not in the products used, just think that at other restaurants in Amsterdam for the same price you can expect to get more creativity and flair in the presentation and overall service. In a sense the overall German theme was reflected in the dishes and the service as it felt reserved and conservative.
Bendert K — Google review
So glad we came and they have good German wine selection to go with fine food. We had two off the menu dish, octopus and sea bream. Portion is good for one and it’s very delicate food with a fusion of Japanese, German, Danish and French. A good getaway from the touristy places. Reasonable prices compared to where we came from.
Jen C — Google review
Restaurant with relaxed ambiance and friendly staff who helps you decide on the wine. The portion size of the appertizers are quite small (they served the asparagus in halves) but well compensated by the amount of sourdough bread the staff refills for you. The entrecôte was cooked to perfection and pairs super well the the bone marrow vinaigrette and salad, enough to share for 2 person. The dessert was mediocre and not very special. All and all good experience for its value :)

It has been recognized as the wine bar of the year for its unpretentious atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and exceptional wine list that complements its tapas menu. Small gem in a lovely neighborhood. Staff super knowledgeable and a great wine selection which includes off the beaten path producers and varietals. Food was great, mostly stuff to share.
Ubaldo M — Google review
Passed this cozy corner with so many guests many times and wanted to give it a try. Booked it in advance, asked a table near the window - but we were seated right at the entrance where entrance door opened often and let the cold inside. But it was really warm inside , sometimes too warm and with «food being cooked» aroma, my guess ventilation cant manage all the cooking. Service is great, everyone so friendly and helpful although we could see they had to run to manage all the guests. The atmosphere is super great, all guests so happy, everyone is talking (at some moments it got really loud). Wine selection is enough to find you a match, they have even tasting offer. The food - here I put 4/5 as many dishes were fried. I know fried balls are traditional here but would like to find some healthier options. All the dishes we tried were good though - bitterballs, taco, bavette. Fish cakes were way roasted and too big ingredients mix inside, i was expecting some “cleaner” mix and taste. Chocolate lavacake was great! Overall a really great place but if you want to go for healthier food choice need to carefully select on the menu.

Café Brecht, named after the famous German writer Bertolt Brecht, is a charming Berlin-style café that offers a delightful vintage ambiance. The décor features an eclectic mix of old-fashioned furniture, including sofas, chairs, and tables, along with stacks of vintage books and retro board games. This whimsical establishment in the heart of Amsterdam provides a quirky escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
My all time favourite bar. I love their seasonal drinks. Now it is spring time, soon rhabarberzeit. The sour beer is an all seasons favourite for me. During the winter they have soulwarming warm cider, so good you forget about the cold and wet Dutch weather outside. It’s always full but cozy, you gotta be lucky with a seat, but once a spot, you have a good time, good drink, and great service from the friendly staff :)

We were so excited to try this place for the first time but it was such a letdown. After waiting a while at the bar with no service, one of the staff spilled coffee all over my friend and our jackets. We were very understanding — accidents happen — but there was no apology or even an offer of a napkin, which would’ve gone a long way. Instead, she just wiped the table and walked off. We ended up leaving without ever being served. Really disappointing experience :(

Very cozy place to enjoy a German beer. The inside is really quiet and comfortable, a really nice style. Beers are somewhat particular, which is nice since you can differ from the usual Dutch beers you can find in every pub/bar. Prices are on average, especially if you consider the central location it has, 5 minutes from the Rijksmuseum and even less from beautiful area of De Pijp. It is definitely recommended if you want to try something different. Thank you for the experience!

Cafe "De Doelen" is a charming and eclectic hangout located in a lovely part of the city, offering a romantic canalside terrace. The cafe serves an array of delicious food including burgers, sandwiches, and cakes, along with a wide selection of beers. Despite some reports of tired staff during late hours, it's generally considered a cozy and warm environment with excellent service even during busy times.
We loved how original and authentic this beautiful cafe is. Built in 1895, the building retains many original features on the interior including a stripped back side wall. The best part was the ambience of the owner and staff and guests. A very chilled vibe made for a really enjoyable evening. So much that we came back the next night. What was great was the authentic side of life inside this wonderful cafe. My wife and I have 2 dogs, so being away from home we missed them. So we were really happy to meet so many dog owners with their dogs casually walking around inside seeking attention from other customers. Pure bliss ! The staff were really friendly and attentive and the Amstel was very keenly priced in 50cl & 25cl glasses.

The coffee is beautiful, but the service is terrible. When I opened my laptop to work there, they simply hid and lied about the outlets. I had to check for myself where they were. In addition, they refused to give me the Wi-Fi, saying that they didn’t have it. The person still looked at me as if the question was completely absurd. I really do not recommend it.

Thank goodness I didn’t eat because the rest of my family ended up being sick afterwards.. My family had raw meat and the meat that was “cooked” came packaged. The nachos were not even chips and came all bunched up. The staff tried to even take my money and were rude. This was definitely and unforgettable experience.

Restaurant
Tanuki is a traditional izakaya located in Amstelveen, offering a wide range of authentic Japanese dishes such as bento boxes, ramen, rice bowls, skewers, sushi, sashimi and other umami snacks. The restaurant is known for its fast delivery and polite service. Despite the appropriate pricing for the quality of food served, it's important to note that during Coronavirus restrictions, orders stop at 4:15pm.
The hot dishes and fried food is amazing! There is a great variety of options.

The food is decent! Miso soup tasted great. The Japanese curry is good too. Sushi is okay, but fresh. Recommendations: - The miso soup is tremendous❤ - The mixed sashimi dishes are decent and sliced quite thick
James C — Google review
I recently visited this Japanese restaurant at Gelderlandplein and had a pleasant, though slightly mixed, experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which really made us feel at ease right away. The restaurant itself is spacious, which is nice in theory, but it does feel a bit impersonal and lacks atmosphere. There’s a large outdoor terrace, which is a great option on sunny days and adds some charm to the overall setting. As for the food: the sushi was fresh and tasty, though quite standard in terms of variety. If you’re looking for the classics, you’ll be happy here. The sashimi was beautifully presented and of high quality – definitely the highlight of the meal. Prices are on the higher side, especially considering the straightforward menu, but the quality does reflect that to some extent. A good spot for a reliable sushi fix if you’re in the area – just don’t expect a very intimate or adventurous dining experience.

Special menu A and B My mum visited this restaurant about a year ago and really enjoyed it. With her recommendation in mind, I had high expectations when we decided to dine there for dinner and try the special menu. The special menu started with miso soup, which I found to be okay and quite flavourful. However, the octopus and duck breast slices were mediocre, and I didn’t care for the taste of the radish underneath. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired, as we had to wait 15 minutes for each dish to arrive. While the salmon and tuna sashimi were decent, the shrimp was not fresh and lacked flavour. I also noticed an abundance of fried items on the menu, which may have been overlooked because we didn’t thoroughly review the menu. The tsukune, or chicken meatball skewers, were also disappointing, with a plastic-like taste. Based on the quality of the food, I genuinely believe that this place is overpriced. In conclusion, I was greatly disappointed, as the food did not meet my expectations of what Japanese cuisine should taste like. Avg. spending ~ €45-50 (p.p.)

Most authentic Japanese food 've had outside of Japan. You get the traditional home-style cooked meals, as well as sushi. Very nice staff. Short waiting time.
Tonje F — Google review
The unagi bowl and tuna sashimi bowl were not dissappointing and pleasant to the eyes. Loved the fact they added tamago/eggs to the unagi bowl, making it extra delicious. Really enjoyed their unagi dish, definitely the best unagi I have tasted so far in the Netherlands. Wanted to try their sliced beef since it looks so good in the picture, but when it came, it looked totally different. Cuts were too big and the meat was very tough to chew. Not sure whether it was bad quality or overcooked? But it was lacking beef taste, so a disappointing dish. The grilled fish was ok, but not delicious or worthy enough to order next time. The sushis were expensive, but it was nice to have lots of options. They also have lunch deals with sushis, which are nice to try so do recommend to try their lunch menu. The fried vegetables looks and tasted like a Chinese dish, but none the less it was tasty with the bamboo shoots. The soup noodles tasted good, but the toppings were fried and too oily so making it delicious. Didn’t expect the gyoza dumplings to be fried as well. The chicken skewers were ok. Service can be slow sometimes depending on who. Some of them are friendly, but some of them are not, so see if you are lucky who will serve you.
Hana K — Google review
The servers were really friendly and genuinely keen to help, so that’s great and made the dining experience very pleasant. Food-wise, some hits, some misses. The raw scallop salad with miso sauce - scallop was fresh but the miso sauce was way too ‘heavy’/ overpowering, which was uncalled for given how delicate the scallop’s taste was. The wagyu beef - I doubt it was really wagyu grade - chewy & tasted not too bad, but not melt-in-mouth tender as you would expect wagyu beef to be, & the oil used to pan fry it didn’t taste fresh, which was unfortunate. The rest of the dishes were not bad - aburi (meaning torched for a slightly burnt taste on the outside) scallop & salmon sushi were nice. Tuna not so much. The skewed grilled pork belly & chicken thigh with scallion were both juicy & well-flavoured. They made a little mistake with the green tea I ordered - it came with a lemon taste at first, & when I mentioned that to the wait staff, they seemed to know exactly what happened (something about using lemon to clean something.. didn’t quite catch the explanation), they immediately changed it for me & in the final bill, waived the charges. Overall quite a pleasant experience. I’m a tourist, so wouldn’t be a repeat customer, but would otherwise come back to try their sashimi, which I believe should be good.

Beautiful date picnic idea. The wine was perfect. The place is really beautiful, full nature immersion. The picnic basket had Brie cheese, tomatoes, chips, some crackers and olives (vegetarian version). Although food wise could’ve been better, it’s an absolutely beautiful place to spend the day or few hours.

Great French like experience with nice wines made in North Holland. I wouldn’t call it “high” but definitely good especially if you drink it while seating in a vineyard. You get combo of local wine (white/rose/sparkling) and some bites (cheese, olives, chips, sausage etc.). Most of the people stayed for the whole 4 hours experience which for me showed that they liked it too.

Lovely place, really worth a visit, staff is friendly, place is quiet and relaxing. Everything is top-notch. We've booked a tasting tour and high wine basket. The tour was quite informative, it's a small winery, but still you can understand the full process of wine making. High wine basket contains a bottle of wine of your choice, crunches, some olives and vegetable pate, cheese and sausage. It's all decent taste and quality.

Great little winery in Amstelveen. Tours and atmosphere are very good. It takes a lot of effort to make wine in such a place so prices are on the high side for the wine you get. But that is ok. Definitely a great place for events, celebrations and going out on a sunny day.

It was confusing that the reservation and the confirmation of it was in English, but the tour was being done mostly in Dutch. It would be really helpful if the information in what language the tour is would be located on the website, at the moment of making reservation. Only after more people who don’t speak Dutch joined, the guide started explaining more things in English. Before that the explanation was done in Dutch, and only a couple sentences in English. We felt unwanted there. The wine was good though and the place was looking nice. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend going there as a person who don’t speak Dutch

Café Chris is a historic and cozy bar located in the picturesque Jordaan district of Amsterdam. Dating back to 1624, it holds the title of being the oldest café in the area. The interior features engraved wooden beams, dark wood, and leather seats that have remained unchanged for centuries. It is rumored to have been frequented by Rembrandt himself. I really loved it here. I loved the energy, the bar tender was so friendly and nice. From what he told me - he’s been doing this for 40 years - this is a very traditional Dutch place. Apparently it opened in 1624. You can still feel that vibe in the room. Half the room was taken up by locals who are apparently there almost every day. The bartender knew almost everyone by name.

Could this be the best example of a brown cafe? We got great advice on what to order. Order the Bols genever along with an Amstel. Want to be authentic? Slurp the filled-to-the-top genever without lifting the little glass. Hi, Annita.

It is as advertised, very old but the people and the bar tender was so amazing. Lots of regulars and good old beer and drinks. Not too pricey based on the rest of Amsterdam. If you’re there in Amsterdam you should drop in for 1 if you like to experience the old world charm.

One of the top brown cafe in Amsterdam Even though it’s only a block off Rozengracht, a busy road, it feels tucked away in a quiet neighborhood which it technically is. It has a great old pub feel - dark interior, a very authentic ‘brown cafe’ with tons of memorabilia and billiards table right in the middle. Not very big, so lots of people congregate outside. Sits on a corner which is always the best. I enjoyed a couple of IPAs. The only late food available was bitterballan. I’m a little bitterballened out so my five star ‘food’ review reflects the delicious beer and atmosphere! That’s all for now.

I entered to a Dutch chorus of “Welkom” from both smiling bartenders.  I felt like Norm from “Cheers” as I took in the vibe of a tiny, wonderful local “Amstel” pub. ANNA Church Amstelveen B.V. is a unique establishment that combines a restaurant, bar, and art gallery within the walls of an old church. The venue offers a spacious area for hosting events and prides itself on brewing its own beer. Visitors have been pleasantly surprised by the concept of repurposing a church into a brewery and have enjoyed stopping by for drinks or dining on offerings such as vegan burgers and fries.
We ended up here following a local’s recommendation and OMG I absolutely loved it! Not only this place is iconic already by being inside a church, but the whole concept is so cool. The menu is great, they even recommend which beer to go with which meal. The food was also nice, we had the burger and the chicken. We tried three types of beer, it was all lovely. 100% recommend a visit

This is our favorite place to go and enjoy the beach atmosphere at the garden in summertime. Indoor decoration is amazing. You feel the church atmosphere but also it’s decorated like a house with the lamps and antique sofas, tables, chairs, etc.. Lighting at the ceiling is amazing. There are plenty of bier varieties changing acc to season. Their appetizers and finger foods and main dishes are also very delicious.

Incredible atmosphere inside this old church - absolutely beautiful and full of character. The service was excellent: everything came quickly, and empty dishes were cleared right away. Our server recommended the nachos as a starter, and honestly, they were the best nachos we’ve ever had. The beer and mains (we had the burger and salmon) were less impressive. We did see some people having wine and the tenderloin - that’s definitely what we’re trying next time. Good place overall - recommend it!

I recently visited Anna Church in Amstelveen for work, and it left a lasting impression. The food was enjoyable, though not fine dining more in line with hearty, well-prepared dishes than gourmet plates. What truly makes Anna stand out is the atmosphere and the sheer uniqueness of the setting. Dining and gathering inside a beautifully repurposed church, complete with towering arches, stained glass, and gleaming brewery tanks, creates an experience that feels both special and memorable. It’s a place where the surroundings are as much a part of the visit as the food itself. Perfect for team gatherings, casual evenings, or simply experiencing something different in Amstelveen.

The brewery offers a variety of organic blonde and dark beers, including an IPA, Belgian blonde, wheat beer, and stout. Visitors can enjoy their brews on a bustling terrace or inside the cozy taproom.
Amazing beer. I was here 17 years ago and they still had the Columbus. It 9% but has an amazing flavor. If you are in Amsterdam this is a must stop. On weekends they offer the brewery tour
Ian T — Google review
⸻ The beer here was excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes — from lighter, refreshing styles to richer, more complex brews. I also really enjoyed the snacks; they were delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks. One of the things I appreciated most was the self-service setup, which makes the whole experience feel very casual and easy-going. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with friends without feeling rushed or overly formal, and that’s part of its charm. Prices are a little on the high side, especially compared to similar spots, but the quality of the drinks and the overall vibe still make it worthwhile. That being said, the place could benefit from a bit more attention to cleanliness — it’s not a major issue, but it’s noticeable. Still, if you’re looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy good beer, tasty snacks, and an informal atmosphere, this is definitely a place worth checking out

Great beers and brewery in a windmill. We had the tasting 17.5 € pp, and it was good to taste their different beers. It was a bit windy being outside but there were no tables inside. The food selection somewhat limited and the friendliness of the staff working at the food counter could be improved.
Enrique R — Google review
Easy to get to and the wait time is short. Lots of options for drinks to choose from. Plenty of seating for couples and groups. The location looks amazing too. We sat outside by the river and had a beer each. No complaints! A great place to visit.
Andrea N — Google review
The service here needs improving. They’re always busy so it seems they can get away without treating customers well or adhering to food standards. The beer was ok but the food was terrible. Poorly put together and served by a guy who kept licking his fingers in between cutting up sausage, cheese and squeezing out mustard and other sauces from a bag - DISGRACEFUL! Being a typical Brit, I didn’t complain, but I couldn’t eat it after seeing that.
Phil T — Google review
We tried a flight at Brouwerij 't IJ—decent beers, but mostly their basic range. None of the more unique or special brews were included, which made it a bit underwhelming if you're hoping to taste the brewery’s full potential. At €17.50, it felt overpriced, especially with cold service and a tip prompt. Still, the windmill setting is charming and it’s a pleasant enough stop, though it leans touristy.

American visitor looking for a beer not named Amstel or Heineken. Found great beer here in a really neat atmosphere. The beer was fantastic. We did the flight first and then I ordered a glass of IJwit. Would visit again.

Amazing place to have a great beer and have a taste of the local scenery. The beer was amazing the food was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. You cannot wish for a better place to enjoy life. The location is super nice and the more you drink the better it goes. Deff on the must do things in Amsterdam.

We are visiting from Colorado and have been to Lost every day of our trip so far! Lol we just love it! The staff are SOOOOOO wonderful and helpful and attentive, the drinks are delicious, and the vibes are supreme. If you see this Lost crew, please open a location in Denver, Colorado! lol

Very friendly service, the only place we repeated in Amsterdam, bthe spot is good for a gathering with friends to smoke up or have a drink, they don't sell 🌿 but they allow you to smoke your own. The vibe is comfortable and chill and they place very nice house music and one day they have a live DJ
S E — Google review
Best place to relax and have a drink and a smoke. Chill out, use the WiFi, listen to the dj. It’s a paradise that I visit with my friends again and again
Beany G — Google review
This place was rubbish 😤, it wasn’t worth my while. The hooka was awful and the charcoal was full of chemicals. The tobacco quality was a major let down! You must pay in cash only. Also, if you order something and you don’t have euros, they will not give you the correct change if you pay in a different currency- you will easily lose money just on the exchange rate. 😡 If you have your own stuff to smoke, you can take it in there and order something food and drinks to satisfy your hunger 😉

Food is ok ok as this was not a restaurant, basically its a cafe... Best for drinks and seesha .. tea and coffee are the best with their signature sheesha... staff was very very polite and humble. Always greet with smile and politeness...

Café Hill Street Blues is a charming canal-side coffee shop and juice bar located in the heart of Amsterdam. It has a vibrant and edgy atmosphere, with colorful graffiti adorning its walls from floor to ceiling. The interior is a mix of vintage and modern elements, featuring vintage leather couches and funky light fixtures. This former coffee shop now offers an extensive selection of drinks at modest prices, making it popular among both locals and tourists.
Cafe Hill Street Blues is a great place to hang out and disconnect from the chaos of the surrounding streets. Funky vibe covered floor to ceiling in stickers and graffiti with comfy couches upstairs and below overlooking the water to people watch. drinks were expensive for the size but if you are prepared, I think it's still worth the experience. recent rule changes stopped smoking inside.

Awesome bar covered in stickers. Very chill the day I went and unfortunately no live music, but nice getaway from the bustling red light district. Place was like a ruin bar on steroids, people smoking inside and couches wrecked (but comfortable!). Nice place to chill, sick staff and very cool decor. Hopefully be back when there is live music.

Awesome place as seen in pictures, you can smoke inside so you get the full experience, has amazing view and lots of space. Has AC so it´s fresh, very nice staff, has draft beers, the IPA is very light for those who like refreshing themself with a good amount of beer. Amazing location, didn´t try the food.

Simply the coolest spot to chill in Amsterdam. Surely not for everybody but if you are cool with it‘s unique style, its awesome. Service is super fast.

Outsatnding place! Staff are friendly. I tried the Cherry Boucher. Goes well with a cheeky smoke. Check put the offers for Pitcjers as well. Can't beat it. Will be back again!! 😁🤟✌️

This is a cool and funky place to have a drink and enjoy a smoke. *NOTE* It is bring your own as they do not sell anything. I had boneless BBQ chicken bites. They were very tasty, though a little overcooked, so a bit chewy. I also had a draft beer. I can't remember which one, though. It was alright, no complaints. The service was good and fast. It was a bit odd to me that when they brought my drink, they made me pay, then pay again after the food arrived. It was a strange practice, in my opinion, but ok. Overall, though a touch overpriced, it was a nice experience. I'd recommend and return.

Love this bar! Have visited this every time I come to Amsterdam! Perfect location looking over the canal while you smoke. They serve decent drinks and the waiters are always attentive. Perfect place to sit and smoke with friends

The decor is cool, but everything inside is sticky, and was horrible to touch, couldn’t roll on the table because of this, and you’ll need a cholera vaccination to use the toilet. Has a sort of derelict building meets student pub vibe. Understandably, the people working there seem depressed.

Located near Amsterdam's Central Station, 'Hannekes Boom' is a laid-back dockside restaurant with a terrace that offers a variety of seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The beach hut-style venue is constructed from salvaged materials and has a universal appeal, attracting students arriving by bicycle as well as young professionals stepping off boats. The large tree-lined terrace is bustling in the summer months and remains busy in winter with activities like curling, live music, and a roaring fire.
Hannekes Boom is one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. Tucked away by the water, it has a fantastic outdoor setting with beautiful views, perfect for relaxing with a drink in hand. The outdoor seating is especially lovely, with charming table decor that adds to the laid-back vibe. Inside, the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic, bohemian feel that makes you want to linger. It’s a great place for some drinks and sandwiches, whether you’re with friends or just unwinding on your own. The vibe is usually super chilled, which I absolutely love. All in all, Hannekes Boom is a great spot to escape the bustle of the city for a while and just enjoy the scenery and the good vibes. Highly recommended!
A F — Google review
Amazing atmosphere with good vibes and nice views, it can be difficult to find a place to sit, but it's possible to split a table with someone if they're okay with it. There are a lot of beer options and also jars, which makes it easier to share. They also have vegan options, and we tried the Vegan Bitterballen and it was simply amazing! I can just recommend it.
Mariana P — Google review
This place is really a cool spot, good cold beer, good food and if you come by boat you can pull up to the dock, scan the QR code and the servers will bring your food and drinks right to your boat! It got a little crowded after we were there for a while, but all the locals were very friendly and welcoming, I was sorry we didn't make it back there.
Steve M — Google review
Beautiful view. Fast service. The French onion soup was great. The nachos for me personally, I would not order again. But they are just like nachos every where here. Drinks were nice and cold. We will be back. We had a chicken sandwich which was good as well. Loved this place.
Nancy P — Google review
Absolutely idyllic! Great for an outdoor pint in a non-touristy atmosphere, with some shade under the trees, this place is tucked away between houseboat gardens, but mere minutes walk away from the Science Museum and city centre & perfect if you want a little oasis away from the bustle. They offer a solid beer selection, small plates and desserts, but it's all about the dreamy atmosphere. You can even dock your boat and order drinks there via QR code! Extra mention goes to the tables - every single one is a unique piece of art! Cannot recommend the place enough
Franziska K — Google review
The atmosphere was great, and the weather enhanced it. You can even go for a swim but I didn't. Foodwise. The snacks were good and flavorful, especially the Bitterballen and Nacho's. However, the main food (burger) was of poor quality and lacked flavor. Fries were great though. If they improve on the quality of the main dishes, I can definitely recommend this place. If you only go for drinks and snacks, also great!
Louis T — Google review
A very inviting spot for drinks and snacks with friends or coworkers, especially on those rare, warm sunny days in Amsterdam. The prices feel fair for a place that offers such a relaxing view over the river. Bonus: you can even park your boat here and order drinks, making it a unique and charming experience.
Afonso V — Google review
Perfect location is being wasted by the incompetent management! I have been here a couple of times already in the last years but my final visit made me to review eventually. Prices are high for what you get as a food/service. We ordered 4 cheeseburgers and 3 of them had cartilage pieces in them. How low is the meat quality. You order Cola and it tastes worse than the machine ones in McDonald's. Plus, the food and drink are served with paper/plastic cup and board. I am not visiting here soon. There are already better places by the water in south. The management team needs a fact check.

The staff is known for their friendliness and impeccable service, always accommodating guests with a smile. The café provides a nice environment on the outskirts of the city center, away from the tourist crowds.
This is the perfect place to enjoy a nice dutch IPA and some flowers. The staff are welcoming and informative, but it can get quite busy, so adjust your expectations accordingly. The pesto cheese toastie and brownie are great! Thanks for not being a tourist trap like the other smoking bars in Amsterdam.

One of the best coffeeshops in Amsterdam, great selection of food in comparison to others that only offer packets of sweets, chocolate bars and crisps. This place has cakes, milkshakes and toasties! Much better. Try the lemon meringue pie it’s phenomenal.

A very good vibe, friendly staff. If I could recommend one improvement - more comfortable chairs so that guests can sit and lean back, that is a major downside of most coffeeshops (this one is not an exception to it)

Heard a lot of hype about this place. Was thoroughly disappointed, staff were rude and disrespectful. Service was slow, and not particularly busy at all. Cute bar and the staff were friendly. I chose to visit because of the bars reputation as the best gay bar in Amsterdam and as I had read these reviews on LGBTQI+ sources, I interpreted gay as an umbrella term, but as the only female couple in the venue I felt out of place and as though I was intruding on a space that was exclusively gay men. Im sure as a gay male presenting person, you would enjoy this bar very much and have a lovely time. We had cider but their cocktail list looked fantastic

As a Black American visiting Amsterdam solo for the first time, I felt welcomed here. The owner or bar manager was super open and friendly in having a conversation with me and making me feel relaxed. Although I tend to prefer a younger crowd, I was really happy returning to this bar since it was literally down the street from my Marriott hotel. I like how friendly everyone is. Nestled on the outskirts of Amsterdam's Red Light District, "In ‘t Aepjen" is a historic wooden building dating back to 1475. Once a guest house for sailors, it earned its name when a traveler paid his bill with an ape. The bar exudes a cozy ambiance with monkey-themed decor and candlelit interiors. While it offers a limited selection of craft beers, patrons can enjoy Dutch beers and the house beer in this hidden gem.
Very authentic and beautiful bar. The aroma of the ‘Aepjien bier’ beer was very nice. You should definitely come and try it. You can take great photos inside.

One of our Dutch colleagues insisted we should stop for late drinks on Sunday in this odd pub. It is definitely one of the weirdly styled places to drink in almost spooky. It is quite small so we were lucky to find places. The beer and drink choice were good and reasonable. Excellent bar staff kept us engaged throughout the evening. Definitely a "cool" (is that still used?) Place and good fun if you can grab a place. As for the history of "oldest wooden house" and "survivor of the big fire"...I wouldn't place a bet on it. Still... I'd love to trop here again on my next trip to Amsterdam.

It's a shame! This place used to make you feel welcome, but today we were kicked out with no chance to even order anything since he was going to get busy and we were going to order only 4 drinks, however the place was empty and the guy refused to serve us and, basically, showed us the way to the door with no further explanation and an arrogant smile in his face. Again, what a shame after few times bringing friends and family visiting the city.

Most visited bar in Amsterdam for me personally. Apart from great service and craftsmanship, I think no one changes drinks menu as often as Super Lyan. Plus, it’s a very spacious place that always welcome walk ins.
Anastasia R — Google review
Super Lyan is hands down one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam! The first thing that grabs you? The neon-purple glow wrapping around the cocktail station, like a little island where all the magic happens. You can sip at the bar or sink into the couches while nibbling on small bites. The cocktail list is anything but ordinary. Every drink is carefully crafted, with a story to tell, flip through the menu or ask the incredibly skilled bartenders for the backstory. A great way to start? The Daiquiri with William George rum, a fragrant Amsterdam-born spirit that’s crisp and refreshing. Want to go bolder? Try the North Sea Boulevardier, made with Toki whisky, invasive plants, and cordyceps, served with an oyster-extract pearl that bursts in your mouth before the cocktail smooths it all out. Prices lean toward the higher side, but totally fair for the level of craftsmanship. The bartenders are not only masters of their art but also super friendly and happy to guide you. If you’re looking for cocktails that push boundaries while staying seriously drinkable, this is the place!

We stayed at the Kimpton DeWitt. Great little bar. Cocktails had a very nice range of selection. Expertly prepared. They had one of my favourite beer Noam. Cocktails were creative and served in nice glassware. My only complaint is the furniture. We sat in nearly every configuration of seating and only one table was comfortable. Looks cool but just not comfortable. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I would recommend a visit.

Step into the past at Café De Dokter, a charming and historic bar in Amsterdam. This quaint establishment, which some claim to be the smallest pub in the city at just 18 square meters, has been run by the same family for an impressive six generations since its opening in 1798. The vintage decor and cozy ambiance create a unique atmosphere that transports visitors back in time.
Very nice place with very good service. Place to go for a casual drink. You feel like a Harry Potterish ambiance there. Basic food plates (cheese or smoked sausage) that goes well either the drinks… I really liked it and it was not crowded by tourists. Mainly local crowd.

This is a charming, intimate bar in a quaint little alley. It is quite small, so seating is limited, but to our delight, they had some tables available when we arrived. I had a couple of different gin tonics here, and they were very good! The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I would love to visit this bar again if we return to Amsterdam.

I chose 5 stars for “food” because there isn’t an option for drinks. Such a wonderfully interesting, tiny (14 seats) place. Henny (sp?) is the owner (mid 70s). Very nice fellow, gracious and fast. In addition to the beer try the Amsterdam gin and tonic. Agree with Henny to allow him to add some bits of chopped ginger. Try to estimate the depth of dust on the bird cage and chandeliers. Just a lovely place.

The coolest space that I've seen in a while. This pub/bar is the definition of cozy and is well decorated with so many small trinkets on shelves and walls. The drinks are good, the menu is well designed and the owners/bartenders are very friendly.

We were lured in based on how cozy and welcoming the bar looked and only then realised it's a typical/cultural brown bar. The bar tender/owner made everyone feel welcome and tended to! Would recommend for great bears and ambience.

This place just feels old. Some of it is the super dusty birdcage and such that’s. But mostly it has a vibe like it’s been in Amsterdam forever. It’s a bit cramped so is easily full. But a bar seat has been available on my visits if you feel up for squeezing in. Some tables out on the street too. The people running it are friendly and helpful but also suitably clear and firm when someone starts asking odd questions.

The service was incredible. The wonderful woman running the place even took our picture behind the bar since it was slow. I highly recommend.

Pub
Café 't Mandje is a legendary establishment, known as Amsterdam's first gay bar since 1927. Founded by Bet Van Beenen, it was later taken over by her sister Greet until its closure in 1982. However, the iconic bar was resurrected just before Greet's passing in 2007. Located in Zeedijk, this authentic brown café welcomes everyone and boasts a rich LGBTQ+ history.
It is a very authentic bar with an old-fashioned interior. Also, the bartender was polite and helpful. I definitely recommend this bar

This is a classic Amsterdam brown bar which has reopened and restored. We stopped in for a quick beer, which turned into two. The atmosphere is indescribably Dutch. A must see for yourself. I highly recommend. The two people behind the bar are super friendly and helpful. Beer selection is decent.

Even though it's in a crowded area, this bar was super fun and filled with gays of all types! Highly recommend
Amanda L — Google review
It was a rainy day and we had about a 40 minute wait for our table at a restaurant. A group of six popped in and we were welcomed and served drinks. Being tourist, of course we did not know it is a gay bar but they welcomed us, too. I would go back if I was in Amsterdam again. They have a good selection of draught beers and cocktails. The bartender is handsome and friendly.
Rosa C — Google review
Such a gorgeous and inviting bar, with cozy lighting, rich and interesting decor, as well as Fleetwood Mac pouring out the speakers. Every part of this place is perfect. Really looking forward to coming back.

Had such a fun time visiting this bar with my gf! We met new friends from The Netherlands and from the UK. Would absolutely visit again. :)

Holidaying from Perth, Australia. I sat on my own for a while, then a young Canadian lady sat and we talked for a while. A great vibe and really glad to be there. Thank you!

One of the first LGBTQ bar establishments in the world. I was happy to have come here and seen the place for myself. The interior is cute and the place is nice to sit down at and have a cold beer

Bar
Saarein is a long-standing traditional brown cafe located in the charming Jordaan area of Amsterdam. Originally established as a women-only bar by a group of ten women in 1978, it has evolved into a welcoming space for the entire LGBTQ+ community. While still popular among lesbians, Saarein now attracts a diverse crowd of queer-minded individuals. The cozy atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to enjoy light bites and drinks, including vegetarian and vegan options.
Delicious cocktails you can tell the bartenders really put in the effort to make it yummy. We got Moscow mules. There’s also a pool table downstairs. The space is not that large though.

One of the nicest Queer bars I've been to. Thank you to the bar staff for being so welcoming to two Irish gay guys! 🫂🩵🩷

Staff are extremely warm and welcoming and are a perfect fit for such a beautiful bar with incredible queer history. The display of inclusively from the venue and its staff made me feel safe and comfortable from the second I stepped in. And having come direct from the UK, that really meant a lot to me. Can't wait to bring my girlfriend here next time we visit. Thank you for a lovely afternoon <3 Lesbian, Sapphic, Trans inclusive, queer, oh and great music!

Great atmosphere and the nicest bartender! I recommend the spicy mango beer — such a unique taste.
Deljin H — Google review
Not inclusive for those who belong to the community. We were asked to leave with no explanation after being inside for two minutes as we were just simply looking at the menu. No one even greeted us. How embarrassing of you. I feel sad for this place. It has build itself on the false idea of ‘inclusivity’ where it has simply gone ethically broke. So be aware before you come here: the way you look like must fit a certain way. How hypocrtical! Anyway… we didn’t even question their decision. There is no need to continue paying attention or providing your hard-worked money for such establishement in this economy. Sashay away!

Great vibes even on a Thursday, early in the night. Bar was moderately full by 10, music is all the best gay anthems (inc. Supercut by Lorde...). Staff was super friendly and gave good recs.

Very chill and relaxed atmosphere. You can have a drink, and play games here with your date. The tomboy and femme cocktails were good, and we also enjoyed the cheesesticks ! We had a fun time there and will come back next time we visit Amsterdam.

My girlfriend and I came here yesterday for the first time and we loved the chill and welcoming vibe. The person working there was very kind and thoughtful (she noticed I had removed the mint garnish from my drink and brought my next drink with a different garnish). We’ll definitely be back!
Dimitra G — Google review
My boyfriend and I felt very welcome here! The bartender was so nice and the cocktails tasted very good. It is not very loud in there and it is just a very cute and wholesome bar. They also have one gender neutral toilet which is awesome for trans folks. 🏳️‍⚧️🌈

Highly recommend this lesbian bar in the De Pijp neighborhood. Our stay in Amsterdam coincided with some games for the Women's Euros. We enjoyed watching the games live in the bar. Very friendly staff, accessible menus if you are unsure what to get, and a queer friendly atmosphere.

Great bar with good prices for cocktails especially for Amsterdam. Will say that the crowd is not university students age though. But really fun vibe
Eli — Google review
(Let's try this again I have no idea where my first review went) I was in Amsterdam 4 days and visited Bar Buka 2/4 nights. Both nights they were showing Euros football matches on the back wall, which added to the already great atmosphere. The bartender was attentive and kind. I tried 3 of their gin and tonics: Flor de Sevilla, Royale Princess, and Pink Pleasure. All were delightful but my favourite was the Pink Pleasure. I also tried their chicken bites and both fries (regular and parmesan/truffle) and they were super yummy! Highly recommend for any WLW looking for a bar with great atmosphere and a sense of community.
Gwyneth P — Google review
Very chill, casual place to hang - in went to watch women's football and the crowd wasn't overwhelming but was definitely into the game. The service is great and the drinks are good also. I didn't have anything to eat but the frites/fries I saw someone else had looked delicious! The patrons are relatively friendly and it seems to have 50% primarily Dutch speaking/50% primarily English speaking patrons. It's a casual place to hang but if you're sapphic, it's a nice place to meet people and chat! I'll be going back on my next trip to Amsterdam!
S B — Google review
This bar was totally amazing. It was an incredible vibe and the bartender paid such close attention to the drinks even though we were largely drinking nonalcoholic drinks since my partner is pregnant. They also had a selection of boardgames and card games for patrons to use.

(Translated by Google) A Bodega as it should be. Friendly, atmospheric, bar with plenty of seating. Staff very friendly, an eye for the customer, knowledgeable catering staff. Beer tapped neatly and quickly, the second came after a brief eye contact. These people know how it works. Then ordered a bite to eat. Schnitzel with mushroom sauce, crispy and light brown fries, and a bowl of salad. I can only say one thing about this: super delicious. Praise, praise, praise! Keep it up! Lof, lof, lof! Ga zo door!
