A lively traditional belgium beer bar with an incredible Selection of beers, over 80 in bottle and 20 on draught, mainly belgium but a few dutch beers as well - ij wit beer from Amsterdam at 6.5% is my favourite wheat beer!.all beers on a large board and a handheld menu. Bustling atmosphere, bitterballen were tasty too. If you love beer you must go here.

It's a decent bar, but the same as all bars in the Netherlands, they are very expensive. 7.15euro for a single Guinness is a little too much. The bar was cozy, quiet, and not crowded at all (positive or negative up to you). The bartender was friendly and would help you with charging your phone, and they have multiple plugs available. Guinness was too bitter for my taste, but that's on Guinness :))

Good selection of beers, especially Belgian ones. No service, you have to order at the bar. No actual food, only snacks available. Good place for a couple of special beers but not for eating. Can get very busy with all the Dutch people speaking at the same time 😉

They are genuinely racist and this is not cool. I have been there a few times and realize that if you are not dutch (don't look very white and blond) they WILL give you a poorer service. Last night I was there with a friend of mine, who looks very obviously not dutch and the waiter took MUCH longer to come ask us for out order than others that showed up. He brought water to all the other tables the moment they sat down and took their orders but refused to bring us and generally ignored us. Didn't even bring us napkins when we asked for it, and generally made us feel very bad about the place. (every one else but us were dutch and they got much better service). And when I asked him about the water he just said 'Aw, your table I specifically forgot' with a smirk on his face. Absolutely disgusting. If you don't have a perfectly dutch appearances don't even go to this place. They will treat you as a 'lesser' customer. This is not the first time I have this happen to me there I don't know why I keep going. I mean it's just water and napkins, but spend your money somewhere else don't encourage this kind of behavior.

We went for a few wines on a Wednesday evening. We were hoping to find a crowded place but the opposite was true. Only the half of the wine bar was open and we were the very first. So not the total cozy setting that we were hoping for but this was all soon forgotten when we got into their amazing collection of wines by glass. We think within Utrecht absolutely the best you can get. So maybe we had a bit bad luck with the ambiance but the wine collection made it all up. Tip is to try the oysters and the finger food!

Cute place with great service. They have some nice wines. Unfortunately except for the olives barely any of the snacks are vegetarian which is a pitty. Still recommend this to get a wine here and hang in the sun while people watching.

Great experience at the Streetfood Club! The food was delicious, with a variety of dishes inspired by different cuisines. The prices were quite reasonable considering the quality and creativity of the menu in my opinion. The ambiance was super nice since the decoration of the place is stylish and i loved the retro aesthetic. It gives the place a unique vibe. It’s the kind of setting that works for anything really, whether it’s a casual lunch, a dinner with friends, or a date night. Service was friendly and efficient. The only minor issue was the kimchi, which was way too salty, perhaps just a one-off with that batch. Aside from that, everything else was spot on. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back myself.

I had the High Par-Tea, which turned out to be a really fun and tasty experience. A playful mix of savory street-food bites and sweet treats, with plenty of variety to keep things interesting. Good food overall, had some really salty bites from the tuna unfortunately. Most food was sadly also barely warm or had too much stuff going on. We could see the kitchen from our view and it appears that food was staying at the counter for abit. Pretty interior however the decor and colours can be overwhelming. Also ALOT of chatter, - lots of girls. Outdoor seating looks way more pleasant.

A Wonderful Surprise! I didn’t quite know what to expect — it had been a while since I made the reservation, and I had forgotten what the photos looked like. What I did remember was that the menu featured exotic dishes, and we were really looking forward to our lunch. And yes, it definitely exceeded our expectations! My Croque Madame was delicious, as were the shrimp dumplings. The passionfruit mojito mocktail was absolutely amazing — fresh and perfectly balanced. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The interior is beautifully styled, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. In short: highly recommended. We will definitely be coming back! 15/07/2025 Just like the first time, we had another wonderful dining experience. This time we tried different dishes, and they were all delicious. The cocktails were fantastic — my favorites are the Bubblicious Daiquiri, the Pornstar Martini Slush, and of course the Passionfruit Mojito. The service was excellent as well. I had booked for 1:00 PM, but due to public transport issues we arrived 30 minutes late. I had informed them by email, and it was no problem at all upon arrival. We’re definitely not done dining here 🤭 and will be back again soon! 25/10/2025 It was my third time here and my girlfriend’s second, and once again we had a delicious meal! The dishes are super tasty and prepared with great care. We’ll definitely be coming back, because we haven’t tried everything yet. Highly recommended!

The welcome upon arrival is very friendly, and you step into a beautiful and welcoming setting that exudes tranquility. The food and drinks were delicious, and the guests didn't overpower you, so it wasn't noisy. The beautiful, clean, and well-maintained restrooms are also a huge plus. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Definitely recommended.

Last night, I went out for dinner with four girlfriends at The Street Food Club in Utrecht, and wow – what an incredible experience it was! The service was also excellent. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, they came to our table quickly, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The interior is absolutely stunning. Every room is decorated differently, each with its own unique, eclectic style. The design is playful, bold, and full of personality. The music matched the atmosphere perfectly, fun, upbeat, and trendy without being too loud. The location is also great, right on the corner across from the church, making it easy to find and adding to the charm of the place. The only thing for us as long dutch people, was the space for our legs. The table was quite small, which caused that we didn’t have enough space for our legs. In short: great atmosphere, delicious food, beautiful decor, and top-notch service. The Street Food Club is a place I’ll definitely come back to, and one I’ll be recommending to others for sure.

Delicious bar food in what feels like a mature dove bar. The portions were great, and the fire were perfectly soft on the inside with an outside shell. The pulled chicken taco was very good! If you wanted fries on the side that would be extra, but between the milkshake and the tacos, it’s was very filling!!

My rate 3/5. This is my 3rd times here. The last 2 times were better. Now the food quality was dropped. Before it was more like a restaurant now its more like a bar. We have leftover food but they don't have take away bag it was a shame. It was busy so it's hard to get their attention. It's a cool place hopefully it would be better next time!

If you like fruity flavors in beers and you don’t used to drink,you should Liefmans fruitesse. Another order is x star martini. The alcohol rate was good enough. The location was so good. After visiting the Dom Tower, we had pleasant time!

Went to this place with my family while visiting Utrecht. Lively restaurant with great ambiance in a busy street next to the cathedral. All of our dishes were very good, tasty and with generous portions, their house beer 'Lenowski' was also quite good.

Fun environment, friendly service and relatively big. We had some drinks on a Tuesday afternoon and the bar was as good as amity, so I’m not sure how I would have experienced this on a crowded night. They offer a large variety of drinks, snacks and food. Prices are fair.

Food is trash. Menu SEEMS appealing, but they really tart it up with nice words (and very high prices). “Nashville hot chicken” ended up being three tiny frozen chicken tenders from the super market with a bit of seasoning.

Decent selection of classic good Belgian beers. Some waiters were really friendly and professionals, others I think they were looking for shortcuts, but overall nice experience nothing too bad. I loved the place inside, drinking a beer there was really good. I loved that each beer had his own correct paired glass. One of the nice waiter also stated that they didn't have any Guinness anymore, so suggested to have another stout; then corrected himself saying that they didn't have any glasses for it, so this is definitely a positive point for their honesty and professionalism. Food wise I think they can improve, my salad was everything but a salad. Overall would be a 4/5, but I didn't like the approach towards some people. Place inside was almost empty, we were there for lunch, most tables were reserved for the evening. Those entering were first suggested to sit outside or in a not reserved table, even if more than 6 hours were between current time and the one marked on the table. I also saw one poor guy that just wanted to see the tap beers at the counter, friendly being sent back outside with the reason that tap beers were marked on the menu. He just wanted to have a look 😅 Then when a tourist group came in with their guide, they could just roam around taking pictures and videos while talking, like it's not a restaurant. It's fine and understandable, the place is very beautiful and probably with rich history, but it was funny to see the difference.

Incredible place. I was surprised the moment I got inside. It’s a huge and nice place. I never imagined to see a Bar/Restaurante in a church. Despite being a bit noise when it is crowded, it’s outstanding! Service incredible and friendly. Carpaccio one of the best I ever had!

This Belgian beer café is a hidden gem with a remarkable setting. It appears to be housed in a former church, which gives the entire space welcoming feel. The location alone makes it worth a visit! I had a few bitterballen with my drink, which were crispy, hot, and just what you’d hope for. The staff was super friendly and impressively quick, even though the place was quite busy. The beer selection is massive, one of the most extensive I’ve seen. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or just curious to try something new, you’ll definitely find something here.

While it's a unique setting with great beer and good food, I found the natural acoustics of the church amplified the sound of everyone too much during rush hour. At some point I had to shout for my friend to hear what I was saying. If I went at a quieter time I would probably have had a much better experience. Recommended: If you're looking for a unique or new experience. Not Recommended: Big groups, business meetings, during busiest hours (unless you don't mind the noise)

Cool place to go and have a beer - they have a huge selection, so you won't be disappointed. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. Reservations recommended, since this place gets very busy (and noisy). They don't do take-aways, but the food is delicious so you probably won't need to take any home :)

Caught Billy Strings for 2 consecutive shows in the Rhonda theater at the Tivoli. Great place. Design keeps everyone close to the performers. Sound was off the charts. Looking forward to my next gig there!

Honestly this place is very nice and well designed. Went to see foster the people and while there are like 2.000 people the place feel intimate. Staff very friendly, smoking balcony, affordable drinks, great location! But why on earth do you serve Bud and Pepsi?? Both the worst brands on the planet!

First time in the Tivoli. I had the pleasure of attending Ensemble Hemiolia's "Concerti Grossi XXL – Corelli and Melani" concert. The venue's seating is steeply raked, which guarantees a fantastic line of sight from every seat. The acoustics were equally impressive. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere; it's wonderful to see how much passion the Dutch public has for early music—a level of enthusiasm that is quite distinct compared to audiences in Germany.

went to the queer in wonderland event. If i can be honest, the security guards really dampened our mood. They send you inside as soon as you finish your cigarette, interupting your conversations. Its a bit of a shame as the smoking area is usually where you get to mingle with others and they cut it short and you lose on the possibility to get to know them better. Then, after the event was over, we wanted to smoke a cigarette on the street (keep in mind thats like a 5 min activity)( and they shooed us away. We then went on the other side of the canal, sat there and talked quietly (which genuinely was the case because we wanted to be respectful to the residents) and the security guy came over the bridge, telling us the whole street is theirs at night and he was going to call the police if we dont leave right now. Funnily enough he caused an outrage which was louder than our original conversation. No idea why they have to be so hostile, completely ruined any future intent of going there again. Id be glad to see them call the police and justify that three people smoking a ciggie - not drunk, not drinking, not tripping - are doing something illegal. Felt like a power trip. Music was fine, but not my taste - but cant hate on that, therefore 3 stars.

Had a great time here, the staff is nice and the sound system sounded great too! I do have to say that the lockers are quite small so I would recommend against bringing a Backpack or something like that, other than that it's an all around great venue!

Great concert venue. It's not big but it does its job very very well. Great sound and friendly staff which makes for a relaxed atmosphere. I hope to be back one day, it's a bit of a trek for me personally but it was well worth it.

We had a great experience at Beers & Barrels in Utrecht, right next to the canals. The interior design really nice, creating a very enjoyable atmosphere. We tried the brisket burger and the brisket steak — both were delicious! The staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. While the price/quality could be slightly improved, the overall experience was good. A great spot for a tasty meal in a beautiful setting!

The appetizer took a while too be brought (was Wednesday evening, so a little unexpected), but other dishes were at acceptable speed later on. Probably we just got a bit unlucky as we are with 6, and all dishes are brought all at once for each course. But the food was really really good. I had a vegetarian appetizer and vegetarian burger, and it was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the two homemade lemonage and it was great too! My friend who had a regular meat burger said that it was easily the second, if not the best burger he's ever had. Another order ribs, was quite a big portion but still tastes amazing. Just can't fault anything in terms of food really! The beer at the tap on the table was okay, but quite on the expensive side. It's expected I suppose for the experience of pouring your own drinks. Really wish the appetizers were a bit faster, that would really make the whole experience perfect.

Visited Beers & Barrels in Utrecht and had a good experience overall. The service was generally good, and we appreciated having proper seating available. The atmosphere was lovely — cozy, vibrant, and perfect for an evening out. They offer a great variety of beers, which made it easy to find something for everyone’s taste. One small note: the girl behind the bar seemed a bit tired and wasn’t the most service-minded, but it didn’t take away too much from the overall positive experience. Would definitely visit again!

We got the ribeye steak which was only ok, rather under seasoned and very thin. We've definitely done better at home on the grill. The salad we ordered was delicious but very different ingredients to what was on the menu so double check if you have allergies. The view of the canal was incredible though, right next to the water and very cool interior, being built into a cellar like space under the main buildings/street. The service was incredibly slow, even though we were there around 5, well before the main dinner crowd. Not sure if it's just the normal European pacing or if we were supposed to go inside to pay or what? It was a long time between them clearing all of our dishes and drinks away and being able to flag someone down to get the bill. You're mostly paying for the atmosphere and the view at this restaurant, the food is ok, not terrible but not amazing. Service very slow.

Very cosy bar with decent choice of beers in a cool unique location ‘in’ the canal, in the centre of Utrecht. Sometimes bands play there, which I can definitely recommend. Young and friendly staff. Despite the hard work of the staff, it took quite a long time before you could order anything, perhaps it could be a bit better staffed on busy evenings.

Stopped here for a drink. They place has a nicely terrace just next to the canal so that you could enjoy your drink by the water. The menu is creatively published on vinyls which I found a pretty interesting idea. Drink menu is good, but I couldn’t find much interesting food. Overall I can recommend the place. What I didn’t like is people smoking all around, I felt like in other places it was not the case. But if you are a smoker you would enjoy it I guess?

This place is awesome! When we were visiting this bar, there was a theatrical show... they said it’s a punk rock theatrical but it wasn’t that loud. Food were 👍🏻 beer 🍺 yumm. Nothing to complain. The location is quite unique but probably it’s normal. We have to go down through stairs so it was in basement.

Went there daily while staying in Utrecht. In July, they're not super crowded and I always found a table, by the water. Excellent salad, excellent soup (cauliflower bisque.) Good service - I did not experience long waits as others have reported. The serving staff was friendly. Beer was great. Prices very reasonable.

Nice food and great place by the canal! We chose the two vegan meals, they were both tasty (especially the tempeh) and large meals. Perfect after a long day :)

Arrived at the bar (Sunday evening) after reading reviews about service being poor and drinks being amazing. I don’t think the service is anything to write home about, but that’s not why I came. If you came to be amazed, let it be because of the libations. I had the espresso martini which was fantastic, and then followed that by the Old Fashioned which took some time but was PERFECT. If you enjoy an old fashioned, this is the place to get one. I also tried the Yellow Bird which was really fruit (sweet) forward, but flavor fantastic. As the rest of the reviews state, if you come for drinks you won’t be disappointed. Bravo. Did have some good conversation with the bartender as well once he was done doing his work on the computer. I did hear him engaging in educating other customers on different drinks and whiskeys as well, so nice to hear that passion. Definitely recommend.

The cocktails were great, but the service was disappointing. We were a small group of three, and the bar wasn’t busy, yet we felt overlooked. It was hard not to wonder if our experience was affected by the fact that we were the only non-white, non-Dutch speakers, as the other customers seemed to receive better service.

This is a beautiful cocktail bar. The atmosphere is lovely, the owner/bartender is incredibly knowledgeable. The drinks are top tier, the selection is fantastic. Small cocktail bar where the love for cocktails and Japanese Whisky is celebrated. Since it's currently closed due to it-which-must-not-be-named, they offer a delivery service, which is also highly recommendable! Of course the social component is missing, but if you are a cocktail fan, do try it :)

Very nice cocktailbar. The cocktailmaker didn't speak any Dutch but that didn't bother us. He was very informative and clearly knew his stuff. Our favorite cocktail was the lion's tail. We also ordered some Parma meat. This was a big quantity but I feel the quality could be better. Maybe give less meat but higher quality.

We came for gathering but receive a very bad service from waitress. I ask for the beer on the menu but the waitress does not know it and ask me to check with the bar instead, what a service!! We order catch of the day and the waitress brings the food and spill the oil on my friend’s iPhone…seriously unacceptable. No urgently or action to take necessary action just ask after served the plate whether my friend phone is ok or not…. In term of the food, we order variety of food to share and most of the food is very salty. The fried ideas over cooked, rib is mostly burnt so do the chicken. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for dining dinking at the bar is ok.

Great place just the service was to me kind of strange we ordered two ice coffee and a tea but when the waiter came she accidentally spilled some coffee on the table…. Now you would think she gets something would comeback to clean it real quick but no we had to do it ourselves. Was good we had baby whipes with us but otherwise was a bit disappointed….. the food itself was OK would rather advice to go here for drinks rather than to eat.

They repeatedly got the products and quantities we ordered wrong and served incorrect items. The service is extremely slow. If you don’t want to wait 1.5 hours after ordering your food, do not come here. We also ordered duck, and it was undercooked inside. The oysters came gritty and uncleaned. I absolutely do not recommend this place—don’t come. We were very dissatisfied.

I've been coming here every now and then through the years but recently their portions have become really small. If you order a broodje kroket it's not a regular size one but a small one, on a small bun, with nothing on the side. No salad, no sauce, no fries... the drinks are also quite expensive it ended up being more expensive than the food (2 drinks per person). We went to get some extra food somewhere else afterwards.

Great restaurant with a good, well rounded meals that are tasty and of good quality. They have a variety of banquet rooms, I ate at the top floor which is great, good lighting, high ceiling and spacious for a couple dozen people. Delicious food at a gorgeous location near the canals of Utrecht. Very easy to reach by foot from the train station. The interior and atmosphere is fun and modern with a wink to the old days. There is also a friendly house cat.

Was going to stop for food, but we were ignored by the serving staff. We ordered via the online system and our drinks were thrown at us. Comfortably the worst service we have had in our trip to the Netherlands. It’s a beautiful spot, they obviously don’t need to try very hard

They changed menu one day before, so it was a bit confusing to order. The place is lovely and I recommend sitting outside, too bad the canal tables were closed on a wednesday. Had the satay and their own witbier, strong taste and go very well together, the satay is not spicy at all, which I like.

Nice place but the salad was a bit below standard. A bit boring and mainly salad and carrots to go with the goat cheese. Wouldn’t order that again. Fish was good according to my fiends. They have their own beers, that made up for it.

The restaurant is nice but seems very expensive for their food options. Outside seatings are alright but lots of people walking by, inside pretty big and chic design. The food is pretty good but not sure if worth the price. However, they have a lot of seafood options so definitely recommend for seafood lovers out there if you happen to be in the area and crave for some.

Amazing seafood restaurant with lovely indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is Dutch only, but not a problem that Google translate can't solve! Staff were super friendly though and helpful with any questions we had. Everything we had was delicious and well-portioned for the price. Wine menu is extensive and there's definitely something to go with everything.

A great place to have seafood. Nestled in the bustling busy street. You will have to go early to be able to find a table here. The food is amazing and there is a lot of variety to choose from. Everything was fresh. It was packed on a Friday evening and the service was a bit slow. We had to wait approximately for 40 minutes to get our mains in. Recommended if you have time.

Decent seafood restaurant with good food and extensive drinks list - especially the wines by glass where they have way more variety than most restaurants. We tried the oysters , fish’s and chips, salmon salad , and the mussels pot - everything was prepared well and we had great service from the staff.

What a disgusting experience. I came with friends and two young kids, we first sat outside but a ferocious woman said the trolley is not allowed. I asked for a chair for the kid but she said there is no chair. Finally we had to move inside. I gave the kids some candy but got blamed from the angry terrified woman . What a day . My mood was ruined ☠️☠️☠️I should notice that the restaurant was empty at weekends. That already meant something….no word further

Every time we come here for the past years, the service is terrible and sooo slow. There are always so many staff just standing inside and chit chatting, it takes soo long for them to come out and take your order and when you want to order inside they say someone will go and take your order. Well hello ive been waiting already for 20 minutes for someone and thats why i had to come jnside to order. In the past Ive never left a review giving them multiple chances, but today it wasn’t even busy and thats just unacceptable. We are never coming back, its a shame cus this place is nice near the canal but i guess thats the only appealing thing and bad service just ruins your mood and experience.

Came for a quick snack and some drinks before a concert. The nachos was not constructed well, uneven toppings. Borrel snacks were standard. Nothing amazing. Location is nice and the high ceilings are nice. However they also seemed a bit short on staff/staff were un-attentive so it was hard to get their attention to order, so much so we decided to skip the last round.

Very good plant-based restaurant. The atmosphere was very cozy, the staff was welcoming. The food was nice- apparently the menu is seasonal and they change it often. I had the 5 course dinner. I loved 3 dishes, 2 were ok. Overall the experience was good.

Incredibly bland food with no taste whatsoever. I was told the vegetable bowl would be warm, it was served on a pumpkin puree base that was straight from the fridge. Unfortunately, the dish I ordered has never seen seasoning in its life. The bread I asked for on the side was also chewy sourdough. It’s a decent place to work out of, but I’m disappointed with the food as I had been really excited to try it. It perhaps also has to do with my palate, I’m not used to bland unseasoned food.

Went here alone and was only planning to drink some chai latte and have some snack while (finally) continuing to read my novel, but ended up with a 3-course dinner, and I'm glad I did!! My first time trying Aardperen, I love how they combine it with a savoury chips. Another memorable one for me is how they cook the mushrooms, echt lekker!. Dessert was bread pudding i think? With ice cream and mousse. A refreshing palate cleanser. I got seated at a very comfy couch, quite secluded. 2 hours just flew by. I was quite lucky to get a seat despite not having a reservation. And the staff are lovely! Top notch service.

Wow wow wow! This place was full of colour, life, good energy and very tasty food at a very reasonable price. Each plate was more and more enjoyable and tasty with a wide range of flavours, from very noticeable to much more subtle that’s only a finely tuned tongue would appreciate. This is my number one place to eat in all of Utrecht and I can’t wait to come back. Thanks for being so kind and lovely to two tourists.

Great selection of food and drinks. The service was really quick, even though it was busy. Most dishes were delicious and some okay, but still worth it. The place was a bit dark to take great pictures, but the atmosphere was lively. Great place to hang and enjoy small bites.

Came here for a team brunch and left with a full stomach and a slightly dizzy head (thanks to one dangerously good cocktail — I don't even drink!). The menu leans heavily on seafood, red meat, some mysterious veggie options, and pizza. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share — great idea, because everything was worth trying. The pizza’s solo-sized, not enough for one person. Loved the sparkling water, quick service, and dreamy ambience. ⚠️ Warning for white-meat-only folks: Well... may the chicken gods be with you, because chicken was hiding. Possibly on vacation. I came in on a rainy Friday night. The hostess never arrived at the stand so I parked myself outside on a wet table. My waiter was attentive but I also suspect got super busy as the night went on as I ended up with someone else. Croquettes were perfectly done and escargot was excellent. Very popular - I’d suggest you maybe make a reservation if possible so they will acknowledge your existence.

A fancy to dine in without fancy pricing. I didn't like the corn chicken as it was explained to me that some mousse was injected into the meat... The result was part of the chicken meat is mushy and meat colour was off ....it looked to me undercooked but waiter told me it wasn't. I didn't eat it. Fish was good.

How much time does it take to serve a boiled egg with croissant (when the egg is boiled already)? 40 min at Talud9. It took 20 min to get our drinks. Terrible service and average food. Seems that the waiter is also the cook. When it came to paying they wouldn't accept Visa nor Mastercard, nor.... cash! sent me to the shop next door to pay...

I stopped for a cappuccino, it was good. Service is kind, nice vibe, nice music and there is a cute table (with 2 stool) in the balcony facing the canal. Ideal for a quick coffe or some bite watching the canal. 4 stars about of 5 because I didn’t spent enough time to evaluate it all.

Came to eat with my girlfriend and we enjoyed it. Sangria was great. Tapas and Paella were delicious. The place makes you feel like you are in Spain. The walls have pictures of beautiful Spanish cities as Toledo.

I have been to this place 4-5 times now and I believe every time I was there I got to try new dishes and every time I was surprised how good they were. I'm kind of a picky eater when it comes to different cheeses and distinctively cured pork but I opened my mind to all of those here and it was DELICIOUS. The one thing that we always get is the shrimps in some kind of butter/fat but lately I've had difficulty of finding it. And recently when I went there on my own I ordered Gambas a la plancha with whiskey thinking that it was the one that I'd previously had. But it was something different and delicious! Basically, everything you order there is going to be amazing so always try new things. Coming to the ambiance, I love how cosy it is even with the little open kitchen, and the paintings on the wall, the whole layout is beautiful. I would like to shout out to whoever designed the simple look of the menu, because that's how I'd imagine a simple yet impactful menu to look. Service has always been great, the staff there is always ready to help you out with choosing or explaining the dishes, and this time I asked if the owners of the restaurants were Spanish. Turns out the owners are Dutch and they are here to present their love for Spanish food. Now I've been to Spain once so I can't talk about the authenticity but they do a really good job with translating the eating experience.

Had a weekday dinner here with a friend and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Loads veggie and vegan tapas to choose from (always a win), and the vegan paella hit the spot—big on flavor and generous on portion. Service was friendly, and the whole place had an easygoing charm. Definitely coming back to see what else they’ve got cooking!

Great tapas dishes and cava sangria. We used to come here for the paella on Wednesdays. Also been here a few times for the tapas before the whole corona situation and was not so impressed. Came again recently and I have to admit the food has improved a whole lot. I retried all the tapas dishes I previously did not like (gambas, pulpo, ceviche) and have to say the food is as great. Their cheese and meat platter was also very good. We really enjoyed the cheese. Only downside to this place is the service. While the servers were both very nice, one of them forgot our orders twice. This was my same complaint before corona and why I removed a star. Also, I’d recommend coming here for borrel/aperitivo as the dishes are not that filling and the $$ can really pile up!

We went on Tuesday evening, the place was packed, with a great vibe. Great choice after work or for dinner and drinks. Efficient service with an open kitchen concept. Tapas are made of high quality ingredients. Iberico cheeks were my favourite, from pintxos Diamond hare and the patatas bravas the best I've ever had. Wine pairing was a perfect final touch.

This local tasting room is the perfect place to taste beers from the knowledgeable owners. You are only able to be seated at the bar or at a table, which means that the ambiance is very easy. The tasting room has a nice history (ask the owners) and the bar / furniture is in the old Dutch style. Would recommend this place if you like more special beers and/or do tastings in Utrecht.

We arrived in Utrecht having done a bit of research into bars we might like to visit and came here on our first night. We had a fantastic time. The beers were really good and we had the food platter which had some lovely homemade meatballs in a beer sauce, salami, cheese, bread and other lovely items. The atmosphere was really nice and friendly and the owners were such lovely people, taking time to speak to us and talk about the food and the beers. Would definitely visit again when we are next in Utrecht.

We stumbled upon this place on a rainy evening and I’m so glad we did. There were multiple craft beers on draft, and even more in bottles/cans. The service was extremely hospitable, but barkeeps are obviously knowledgeable and care about their patrons.

Visited for the first time and became an instant favorite in Utrecht. 10 beers on draft, selection is quite interesting and covers many styles. Prices are more affordable than most options in town (draft Hertog Jan at €13/L). The decor is superb, respectful of the rich history of the place, but also tidy and functional. Also, the service was very professional and kind.

This place is excellent, knowledgeable bartender and welcoming atmosphere. Helped me to appreciate Utrecht even more.

One of the things I really hoped to do in Utrecht was to find a little authentic bar/pub and try something I’d never tried before in a warm and relaxed atmosphere and this place met all my wants and in fact far exceeded them. We ordered some delicious food next door at Papi's Comfort Kitchen and were welcome to have cool beers and as my company said "the best lemonade he ever drank" while enjoying our snacks. Got kicked out for Vaping but I never vaped. Interior was good but very sticky ground like it never saw a mob. All the Cardreaders are broke but you also cant pay with cash.

The music is painfully mediocre. I've been here before and it had the same music as every club I've been to in the Netherlands: songs aimed at drunk Dutch people who can't dance. But I gave it another chance by going to the International Halloween party. I thought they might spice it up a bit and play hyped songs from different cultures. My friend and I were one of the few foreigners there, which of course they can't really control. But they still played music like Starships, Wannabe, a bunch of Dutch songs and THAT high school musical song. I don't get why they called it an international party

Ive called the police! Its disgusting. Those bouncers were bullied when they were young, now they are trying to compensate. If you they trow you out, don't 9/10 compy!

Staff inside is nice, the bouncers outside are rude and aggressive for no reason at all, it looks like they are there to create trouble rather than keeping everything nice and smooth. For instance, while I politely told them that I forgot something inside ( I hadn't drank a single beer that night and I spoke with them with the greatest respect ever) they intentionally lied to me so that I would go away. Needless to say they also threatened me and when I was talking to one of them about my item and where I was sure I left it, the other bouncer out of the blue, comes to get face to face with me. When I realise that he was getting too close to me, I go backwards of course, but he doesn't t stop and continues on its way to reach me and he pushes me once further away. One of the worst experience of my life.

I got drugged here with a spiked drink. A year ago and the bouncers wouldn’t believe anything you’d tell them. A year past and I’m still banned. Just don’t come and save yourself some bad situations.

Worst club I have ever been too. After waiting in line for 2 hours, I was not allowed in because my pants were considered to sloppy by the bouncer. However the guy was so kind to let me in if I payed him €40 in cash. I made the mistake to do so and was introduced to a horrible smell and a sticky floor. I even received a death treat from another person in the club. Please do not go here!

The beer was beautifully served in wine glasses, adding an elegant twist and almost making it feel like a wine tasting. The atmosphere was cozy, the service was passionate, and the attention to detail made the evening special. Definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves beer (or just loves trying something new).

We love Rubens! The knowledgeable staff help you find exactly what you are in the mood for - even if you don't quite know what that is! I've tried some great wines, beers, gins and rums here over the years. There is also a lovely cat who may choose you and come and sleep on you! I never ate here so can't comment on the bar snacks (cheese, olives, etc) but it is a high quality place so I would be amazed if it's not good!

If not the best spot to enjoy wines and drinks in Utrecht. The bartender was very enthusiastic and engaging explaining about the wines / drinks and accompanying platters. Had a nice conversation with the bartender and other people in the tasting room. Therefore it feels like visiting a fellow friends house. Being a small tasting room makes it even better, it prevents it being overcrowded. Would recommend this place for a date or get together with friends enjoying drinks in Utrecht.

We went to this bar for the Utrecht Cocktail Week. The bar atmosphere was really great and the service was good. The signature cocktail was a bit too smoky for me, but my friends liked it. All in all, if I come to Utrecht again, I'll stop by here for a drink.

We had to reserve more than a week in advance. The food was delicious, very well balanced and distinctive flavors. The main dishes are companied with a set of small side dishes, which complement your hungry and enhances the experience when trying Indonesian food. It is not cheap, but quite worthy, the service was kind and helpful. We will return to explore other tasty dishes.

I just had dinner at Restaurant Blauw Utrecht, and it was an absolute treat. The beef rendang was outstanding—tender, richly spiced, and full of deep, comforting flavor. Easily one of the best rendangs I've had in a long time. What really elevated the meal were the assorted side dishes that came with it. Each one offered something unique—sweet, spicy, crunchy, or creamy—and together they created a perfectly balanced and satisfying plate. A special thank you to Djörvin, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. His warmth and genuine friendliness truly made my day. It’s rare to feel so well looked after when dining alone, and I left with a full belly and a big smile. Highly recommended—I'll definitely be returning!

Blauw serves up delicious, authentic Indonesian food in Utrecht. It’s located on a lively street near a couple of canals. The food is best for sharing including the rice table, which includes several dishes served with rice. Excellent vegetarian options available. The somewhat small space makes it cozy for guests and occasionally loud. Consider it part of the charm and energy. Definitely worth checking out.

Excellent Indonesian cuisine. The rijstaffel was amazing, we had it for three of us. It was prepared to perfection. It’s a quite a large amount of food served on many side dishes. Service here was excellent as well. I’d recommend making a reservation, it was full and on a Monday evening soon after opening.

Visited this gem for the second time. The food here is absolutely amazing. The presentation and the clash of different flavors are truly outstanding. Lightly spicy, sweet, sour, crunchy – everything is perfectly balanced. The food is served quite quickly and the service is also very good. I’ve sat both inside and outside, but I must say the atmosphere inside is much better. The vibe, the music, and the overall ambiance are excellent. I will definitely be coming back more often.

This place is literally awesome! I really liked the environment, the design of the club. The cocktail's glasses are too original together with their names. It's preferable to come here with 4 or more people! The reservation also is preferred because it's always full, now you know why! Cheers

A Pleasant Surprise! We originally came just for drinks, and I have to say—the frozen Porn Star Martini was the best I’ve ever had! It was so good, we decided to stay for food, and I’m so glad we did. Everything was absolutely delicious—we even ended up repeating a few dishes! The entire experience was lovely. I only wish we had a place like this where I live. Compliments to the entire team! :)

Went there for a few drinks and snacks. Chickenwings took over half an hr and when we asked about it, it came out immediately. It's a bit of a cramped seat outside but it's cute by the water. Cocktails are done well with matching containers to the drinks.

We visited the Rum Club for a few afternoon cocktails and it did not disappoint. We arrived without a reservation and even though it wasn't very busy, one of the ladies arranged a seat for us at the bar. The cocktails are expertly crafted and are very delicious.

My son's regular spot in Utrecht, so it was time to experience this for myself. Wasn't disappointed, great tasting food and attentive service. Nice ambience, since this is situated in 2 old wharf or cellars. Limited space, however they have done a superb job of using every inch of these. Professional staff and great music, extensive choice of cocktails, incredible. Outdoor seating is possible if the weather permits. Worthwhile visiting.

We attended a private company event here, and the restaurant was closed to other guests for the night. The service was impeccable – the staff was kind and quick to refill drinks, which was much appreciated. However, the food was disappointing. While there were plenty of options, especially for starters and desserts, the flavors were bland and unremarkable. The cozy ambiance was a highlight, but unfortunately, the tasteless food overshadowed the experience.

I gave a three star not because i don't like this place. In fact, there's a lot to like about this place: the environment, the service, the presentation of the food (look at the pictures). This place emphasizes on the freshness of the ingredients where they utilize fresh produces from nearby village. However, for me, the taste of the food is mediocre at best. There's no unique combination of flavors. It's mostly just different ingredients being put together on a plate very prettily. Each plate costs around 25-30e. It can get pretty crowded in the evening, so remember to make a reservation before you come.

Great experience. The house smoked salmon was delicious, the sole and wild shrimp a good main dish. The cherry clafoutis was a great seasonal dessert. My partner had the bouillabaisse which was rich and delightful.

Hidden spot in a cute neighborhood (note: not in the city centre) with a lovely terrace in the sunshine. Makes a perfect place for lunch. Friendly waiters. The portions of our choice (1 bread with Brie and pear and two small croquettes with tiny slices of bread) for lunch were not big, but all was homemade and very delicious. The 3 course menu looked promising and very yummy so we will definitely come back for that or for dinner

This is just a magical place with a soul!! Right from the start you can feel the cozy atmosphere. The nicely waitresses welcomed us with a smile and made sure we felt at home. They were helpful and always showed up at the perfect moment. The varied menu turned an ordinary friendly dinner into a unique feast, full of rich flavors and beautiful colors. There was something amazing in every meal. An incredible adventure for the taste buds!! Chef Manuel took care of every detail of the prepared dish. He is very talented cook who makes people happy eating his meals. The quality is at a very high level, still at attractive prices. This place is definitely created by people with passion. I come here often with the people I love because of the great food and nice location (outside). But today was not a good experience. It took the staff almost 15 minutes to attend us, followed with treating us with annoyance and dismissal due to a misunderstanding regarding our booking — it felt like we were being “bounced around” and left to wait. Unfortunately due to this we chose to leave. Great food and location, but (today) really ruined by the service.

There were no tables outside initially, but we were later given the option to move when one became free. That was a nice gesture, but wish we could have reserved directly outside.

Very nice and informal place. Service is friendly atmosphere is informal and pleasant. Dutch isn't always spoken and rarely a first language. Food and wine is very good. I found it a little pricey for what I got.

We have been here two times before the pandemic. Both times we enjoyed the cold and warm pinchos very much. This time we also ordered some tapas from the menu and a "jarra" of sangria. We liked the sangria very much (not too strong and nice balance of sweetness). The tapas (ribs, ceviche and croquetas) were really tasty. The variety of cold pinchos was nice and we loved the combinations of ingredients on each of them. The warm pinchos were very good too! It definitely remains on our list of favorite restaurants! During the weekend it should be packed but we came here during a weekday at 5pm (when they just Open) and it was nice and quiet and we sat downstairs for the first time.

This is my first time visiting a Pincho bar and i really enjoyed it! For a context, Pincho is the little food that you can see in the pictures (they are different from Tapas because they are served in a cocktail stick). The restaurant serve both warm and cold pinchos. There's there ways you can get your food: 1.For cold pinchos, you can go to the counter and pick the ones that you like; 2. For warm pinchos, the waiters will walk around every 10 minutes or so with a different ones and ask if you want them; 3. You can also order straight from the menu for a mix of cold pinchos where they just choose them for you. The restaurant also serve some really delicious tapas and you can order them from the menu. Almost all the pinchos we ordered have some funky combination that we have never thought of. Every Pincho is a surprise! On a little side note, we have to order quite a lot of them to be full. For food only (including dessert), we prob spend around 30e per person. For dessert we get a pistachio coulant and a homemade Santiago cake. I prefer the pistachio coulant better but they are both great. For those who like to try unique flavors, this is the place to visit! A little tip: Wait for the waiters to serve you warm pinchos (instead of ordering cold pinchos) because they are tastier (imo). Would definitely come back again.

The industrial interior is pretty cool and welcoming, complemented by young and friendly staff. The fusion food is tasty, though the portions are more focused on flavor than quantity. We were happy with the desserts especially Red Beetroot cake.

A mixed bag of food quality and service. Some foods were good, but most mediocre and hidden behind spicy herbs. Service was very different between whatever waiter was helping the table (it switched all the time). The atmosphere was pretty bad, incredibly loud and the industrial setting can work a lot better.

Update October 2018: unfortunately I have to correct the review from 5 to 3 stars after a recent visit. Let me start of by saying the the food is still of incredibly high quality, so hands up for the kitchen. However, the staff is just too below average to match the good food. Although friendly, staff is flow, does not take away used items, let's you sit for ages with empty glasses and forgets things. The waitress even spilled beer from a bottle we ordered and did not give us a new bottle (although 10% of the beer was spilled). Would not come here again anytime soon unfortunately, potty because the venue is so cool. Very nice spot in Utrecht. Food is excellent and portions are quite decent. They also have a nice outside area to enjoy the sun. Definitely a nice place to visit with a larger group but also as couple. Special tip: order the fried bread as starter. Very good!

The place has a great vibe with a loud, industrial feel that works well for a night out. Service was good and the menu had a decent range of food and drinks. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the reviews. The rice wasn’t cooked properly, the sashimi smelled off, and the salad was bland. A couple of dishes were okay, but overall it felt pretty average. It might have been a one-off, but we're not planning to go back.

We had a very good dinner experience. ​The food was excellent; everything was delicious and well prepared. We particularly enjoyed the shared dining experience, which made the meal social and fun. They also offer good wines that complemented the menu nicely. ​The service was efficient and friendly, with the staff remaining attentive throughout the evening. It’s a fairly industrial setting. Service was excellent and the lovely server gave us advice on nightlife etc. food is small plates so include the chicken and rice combo. Order 2 portions of the dumplings. They come in threes and you don’t want to fight over the spare

For a place with a look and feel like this I didn't expect the food too be so good. That's why I gave 4 stars because the table service is not too great especially for the number of people running around. They could have earned 25% more at least if they paid attention. The look and feel of this restaurant is very cool. Definitely a place to visit for the food. Asian, Eastern mix. Nice mocktails too. Espresso beans light burned (way too much acidity for my taste)

Very nice and practical space, the salmon could have been better .. it was a very simple dish for it's price. The beef was very good and the desserts also great. The staff were friendly and kind.

We had the 3-gangen menu, which is more worth the price than al a carte. The food was nice, some dishes were hits, such as the tempura mushrooms and the beef curry, others were misses, such as the sushi with too much mayo and the lamb with a very unappetising sauce on it. The mango macaron dessert was good. The pandan cocktail had a very delicious pandan aftertaste, but too much lime, which made it more of a sour instead of a daiquiri. Overall fun experience to have dinner with friends.

Very nice restaurant with very polite and helpful staff. Pricing is OK for a restaurant at this location with above average food quality. Most of the dishes are very tasteful and very well prepared. A great compliment to the kitchen staff. Thanks to the half open kitchen you can watch the preparation of the dishes and the kitchen staff works hard, fast and with dedication. May be not all dishes will suit your taste but that will be a personal experience. There is plenty of choice so that should be no problem. We had a great time. We'll definitely return.

Such a nice experience! We were 5 and ordered the 5 course menu (around 34 euros). I ate so many delicious dishes, particularly the spicy jacked shrimp and scallops were from another world. Food presentation was also very impressive. In sum, delicious food for a fair price. Super recommend!

I recently had a a very nice dining experience at Mr. Miyagi. I met with friends from all over Europe, a group of 13 in total. Despite booking a month in advance, they accommodated our reservation without a hitch, and even welcomed an additional friend who joined us last-minute. We ordered our meals via tablet, and the dishes were served in smaller portions, ensuring they were fresh and allowing us to reorder as we wished. This setup was perfect, enabling everyone to choose their dining pace. The staff were excellent in explaining the system to our entire group with a lot of patience. The food? Exceptional. Not only was it delicious and value for money, but the entire staff was also fluent and professional in English, ensuring seamless communication throughout our dinner. Their drinks and cocktails, especially the Pink Damrak gin cocktail, were a highlight for me. My personal favorite dish was the salmon crunchy tacos. My vegan friends highly reccomend the following dishes. The "Buddha gyoza" without butter, "mushroom maniac", and "tofu trouble". The spacious setting meant our large group was comfortably accommodated, with room to spare. In conclusion, if you're a fan of Asian cuisine, sushi, gyozas, and more, I can highly recommend Mr. Miyagi. It's a must-visit!

Really beautiful space and the food was so good! Every dish was delicious and the view was gorgeous. We sat inside and were glad that we did since the weather changed so quickly (see video). It became sunny again about 30 minutes after but FYI the patio isn’t the most rain proof haha. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area! Strolling through the park is super nice to work up an appetite before lunch.

We had a wonderful evening with a big group, the service was great and generous, the menu was really good and most importantly everything was without any stress and no hurry, so we could really enjoyed the dinner with all the wine.

Came here for lunch. The food was fantastic. Great combination of flavours executed well. Great wine selection. Four stars because the service was not great, we sat there for atleast 20 mins before being offered water. We then had to stop and ask them for the wine list, overall a slow start. Just feel like we had to constantly get the service attention throughout the meal.

The terrace right in the Wilhelminapark is the greatest perk of this restaurant. The food is pretty good, although nothing out of the ordinary. Good winelist. Definitely recommended for a nice summer day or night.

Springhaver, both the cafe and theater, are true gems. Cozy, great atmosphere - it’s a true home away from home. It’s a perfect “third place” - a good spot to catch a movie, a drink or meal, and even play some board games. There are a few vegetarian entree options that are always quite tasty. It’s been around since the 1970’s and it’s clear why it’s a staple of Utrecht!

It's a cosy little cinema where you can also enjoy drinks and food. We saw The Other Way Around and enjoyed the vibe overall. It was a bit cold inside, and the seats were old and not super comfy though.

I used to come here years ago, back when I lived in the Netherlands, and recently I had the chance to return. I was genuinely delighted to see that not much had changed. The place still has that same charm I remembered and loved. My friends used to joke that Springhaver was basically an extension of my living room..., and revisiting it now, I completely understand why. It honestly felt like coming home. This time, I could not stay for a film, but I did manage to sneak into one of the theatres for a quick look before the next screening started : still as cosy and lovely as ever. The service was great, the food fantastic, and the beer on tap had a brilliant selection. Do not forget to order some "bitterballen", absolutely spot on. I truly love this place.

Well what a find…beautiful day and we stumbled on this bar with the family…service was great, food….took the time to wander around the bar with all the posters. Cater for celiacs so GF food no issue. If the weather is great and your hungry, stop by it’s a real find and so enjoyable.

It is actually Utretch. So lovely and quaint! Most beautiful clean canals! Great friendly locals! Good food and great bicycle riding paths. Relaxing kind of place to spend half a day when you kinda sick of Loudness in Amsterdam. :)

Love it. Great cinema. Don’t expect the large luxury seats but be prepared for a nice and cosy cinema. Small cinema rooms. The bar of this place is great and offers a good selection of beers and food dishes. Who needs the movie... Outside seating at the street is nice because you see a lot of people strolling and cycling by. We booked tickets for the wrong date but this wasn’t a problem. We were allowed to take other seats.

Food: Great - had the PB&J cookie on Saturday: would trade one of my kidneys for it Today: choc brownie (see picture. Was delicious) Flat white, cappuccino with this or that milk also great. Visited The Village, a café conveniently located on Voorstraat in Utrecht. The atmosphere is a unique blend of rock and tribal vibes, mixed with an industrial aesthetic, creating a distinctive and inviting space. I tried their Iced Latte, which was good, quite refreshing and balanced. I also sampled their Hazelnut Cookie, which was a pleasant surprise—deliciously flavorful without being overly sweet, making it a perfect companion to the coffee. The café itself is cozy, offering both indoor and outdoor seating options, depending on your preference. Whether you’re into café hopping or just looking for a cool spot to relax, The Village is definitely worth a visit.

Ol’ faithful. Faultless coffee shop, music as good as the coffee. Decor and ambience are sick. Would definitely recommend. Cakes and pastries are fantastic and sell out quick! No matter how many they have. So don’t leave it late. And lastly, free stickers!!!

This is my favorite place to have coffee in Utrecht! Good coffee beans and good music. The banana bread is delicious and the peanut butter cookie is not far behind. Highly recommended!

An eclectic setting. We had lasagna and schnitzel. The lasagna was good and the schnitzel very average, part of it was not cooked through but the chips were very good. To be honest I wouldn’t eat a meal here but would go back to enjoy a drink. Staff were good.

The food is not bad. I love the lemon cake a lot!!! The beef burger is also nice. I like the vibe in this bar. It’s very cozy and well decorated.

I really like the weekly jamsession on monday when random musicians join the stage and play all types of music together, and also the food is really good and not too expensive! It is a perfect spot next to the old center of utrecht and next to the Dom Tower.

Really nice place, conveniently located under the Dome. Live music (jam session) on Mondays, excellent food and warm attention from the staff, Dre in particular is very attentive to everyone's needs and super kind. Highly recommended!

Pretty good experience. Went to play Tak with some acquaintances, we sat next to the Dom, wonderful sight. Only negative thing is I ordered a burger without bacon, but got the bacon anyway. Not too big of a deal, but as someone who doesn't eat it, it was a bit of a disappointment.

Me and my boyfriend went to Sunshine on Friday and had the best experience. Adu welcomed us and was the best host from the very first moment. The food was incredible and the portions were very big. I was in Utrecht for some training and was looking for some good food for my last night in the town. I discovered the Sunshine Ethiopian Restaurant, where I had a fantastic meal. How can I express my delight at the warm welcome and delicious food? I asked for just fish and vegetables, and I was very happy with the plate which was presented to me. Surrounding the main portion of fish in a berbere sauce were a number of beautiful vegetarian sides, my favourite of which were the mesir (spicy red lentils), kik alicha (yellow split peas with tumeric) and the gomen (wilted kale with spice). The injera was much lighter than I had experienced before, allowing the flavours to shine, but it still held together well for eating with. They make a homemade honey beer, and it complememented the flavours well (the sweetness against the spices made both all the more delicious. I have eaten in a number of Ethiopian restaurants and I regularly make at home various dishes, and I can happily say that the mesir was the tastiest I have ever eaten. Thanks again for the warm welcome and I hope to return someday.

We tried Sunshine after hearing at least two other friends trying them and giving a thumbs up. I think it gives a unique eating experience because of the communal sharing eating style. There are however some hits and lots of misses. Warning: you will eat with hands from the same plate with others so make sure you feel comfortable with both features. The interior decoration is a bit dark and there is a lot of things I don’t know. The place can get a bit noisy when everyone talks at the same time. Service wise, we had to wait for a while before having the menu or even getting the cheque. The staff was definitely busy to attend a big crowd on Sat evening. None explained to us how to eat the foods on the plate. When we asked for cutlery, the elderly man just smiled but did not do anything. Luckily a younger staff came later with more instructions and (finally) a spoon. The foods are generally good and flavourful. We ordered the surprised menu of 3 main mixed dishes. We think we had a kind of braised beef pieces, beef mince and lamb along with veggies sides like kale, chickpea, tomato and fresh salad. There were 3 soft, slightly sour (fermented) pancakes on the side and another one as the base of the foods. The portion was definitely big and filling for 2 people. However I found the 3 meat dishes quite similar, so I’d recommend the restaurant to select 3 more contrast meat and spice level to make them more interesting. The honey wine has a slightly spice note, a bit sour before I can feel the alcohol. If it’s chilled, it may taste better. It’s also difficult to drink from an open mouth, narrow neck bottle. Overall this is a unique eating experience for anyone who has not tried Ethiopian cuisine before. I am myself not sure if I will try another time.

I recently visited this spot in Utrecht and was impressed. Nestled by the water, it's the perfect place to relax, have drinks, and watch boats and shipping barges go by. The atmosphere is calming, especially when the colorful lights come on at night. Although the drinks are slightly pricey, with beers around 6-7 euros, the ambiance makes up for it. Seating options are varied, allowing for any size groups.

We were the first to arrive on a Sunday morning at 11am, which makes it hard to score the atmosphere. The feel of the place is relaxed, the staff young and a bit inexperienced but friendly. The food (Philly cheese steak and Caesar salad) was excellent, portions plenty. Location of this place is lovely; right in the nook of two canals merging into one with plenty of boat traffic to watch as you eat. Our experience was definitely good enough to return another day.

Nice location but I've been 3 times and the service is too bad. I was forced to use a QR and give a phone number (why?!), all in the name of "efficiency", but I had to wait 35 minutes for 3 beers without food. The food was average but expected for this place, and once I ordered a cubalibre, explicitly asking for Havana Club 5 which was in the bar. They told me to leave and wait on the table instead of picking it up myself. Surely they gave me a lower quality rum because it was the worst one I ever had.

Nice setting with a cool atmosphere, unfortunately the food was not great, we had the poke bowl and the portobello burger. The poke bowl tasted like it was all from a tin and the burger was uneatable, mushy, salty and stale. Would go again for drinks but unable to finish meals and had to go hungry.

Wow, what a nice surprise this place. The service was incredible, We sat on the terrace of the 1st floor and the waitress was the nicest, most funny, and kindest we had experienced in some time! The food is good and the place is pet friendly ❤️💙🧡

Nice place to catch up with friends with some beers. Might even be a suitable place for meeting / bringing a (first?) date. There's a movie theatre across the street (mostly play semi-mainstream arthouse movies I think, like a Tarantino movie for instance) which could make a nice dating-combo... Anyways... The pub definitely is a great place. Haven't tried the food so I can't really judge it. And I don't think it's very practical for large (more than 5 or 6 people) groups, especially inside the pub. In summer, when they have a pretty large outside-area with tables you might have better luck (groupwise I mean).

One of the best bars in Europe with convivial, relaxing views, friendly bar staff and when the sun is shining, there isn't a place quite like it. Go relax!

Unfortunately they let their customers work. The process of order with the qr code is just disrespectful for the customers. I don’t think there is anyone who prefers this method over real human beings taking the order and choosing by having a real menu in one’s hand. The food and drinks came quickly, but were nothing special. Although the owner saves money in form of wages, everything was still Pricey and the staff that was there didn’t seem very enthusiastic about their work…

Only had beer, but it was good. Service is good too. It has a lovely patio so it being the summer, we sat there. My only issue is that smoking is allowed in the patio (as I think is the norm for the Netherlands) so the experience for non-smokers is regrettable. Wouldn't go back there unless I am wearing a mask with a good filter.

Location is just opposite the theatre and cinema. Quite Central in Utrecht and definitely a place to sit in the summer and have a drink. The drink menu is good and please try their cheese. Quite good quality and beautiful way to spend it with some wine and beer. The staff is really kind. The prices are quite ordinary.

Tilt is like a second living room! The food is nice for a ”normal” bar, lots of different beers to choose from and the staff is always super friendly. Fairly priced and a couple of gluten-free beer options as well. My favourite in Utrecht!

Nice cafe with a fine selection of beers, including their own. They seemed understaffed, took a while for them to take our order. By the time our beers came they lost all foam. I went inside to fix it, the lady was kind and fixed our beers with a smile. Will probably come and try again.

What a unique experience! The food is great and different. And the pairings are really good. We got the wine, cocktails and some non-alcoholic drinks that are home made, the flavours were so balanced and unique. They take care of any allergies or food restrictions. But the best part is the Ice cream tasting, rice, prickly pear, chocolate and black garlic? We were shocked haha and we couldn't get enough! Definitely recommended if you are in Utrecht.

The restaurant is located a few minutes away from the heart of Utrecht. It is a two floor establishment with lowest one down to a canal level. Atmosphere was great and same for the service. We selected the 5- course menu. 4/5 dishes were on the edge of innovation and modern style gastronomy. First course was a nice start, halibut with citrus. Next two courses, carrot tartare and cauliflower didn’t really worked for us. Steak was probably the best I’ve ever tasted and thyme dessert was definitely the most special and innovative dessert I’ve ever tasted. I’ll remember this for long time.

Great range to select from that can satisfy all groups from vegans to meat lovers. Dishes come in perfect gaps and adequate portions which makes you appreciate the taste even more! The staff is patient enough to explain every single dish and answer to your questions. Beautiful interiors and nice selection of wines. Overall a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!

Our dinner was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a lovely selection of wine while we devoured a seven course meal. The food was exquisite. Although I cannot recall each specific dish I can say with certainty that the second and sixth plate were my absolute favorite. The pichana was divine, the fish was was fresh and tasty, finally the dessert - pure bliss. One of the plates contained black pudding and to my surprise the mix with figs put it over the top. WOW, high on my list and would visit again for sure.

6 courses, all delicious and great presentation. Friendly waiter that told us the details on each course on how it was prepared and which ingredients were used, which was impressive.

Great venue. Not too big, but that's what Utrecht had Vredenburg. Easily reachable with a train station and a parking garage around the corner. The venue has a bar in the performance area and one in the lounge. The setup is very cosy and comfortable. Staff are very nice and the drinks menus are very decent.

Great venue with perfect facilities for its size. Saw Teenager Fanclub here on the 9th of May 2022 and they were superb...back to the venue though! The sound is good to my ear (not a muso by any means but I was with musos who said it was good to their ear so call that agreement) and there's a good range of drinks at very reasonable prices given the overall cost of drinks in the Netherlands. Really easy to find and get to from the train station/centre of town (just follow the canal basically...) Has a cloakroom too...don't see that much in this day and age!!😁

Bouncers with power trip attitudes from the moment you come near the venue. Exceptions for pretty young women, of course. But bouncers like this are a great way to start and end your night with a shit experience. Be it a small one, but a still a horrible look.

I went there on a Wednesday evening with friends for drinks after work. Even though we reserved the table but the restaurant was not busy, so we could have easily walk in. However I have seen it to be busy on weekends, so better to reserve the table. They have a nice terrace next to the canal which is great on a nice sunny day. The toilets are upstairs and are clean generally. They have wide variety of beers to choose from. If you want to try new, ask the bartender. They have nice finger food but the main course is okish. I am disappointed with chana masala as it lacked flavours. I will just stick to snacks and drinks.

Very nice place! Has a place along the water for having beers for sunny days. Inside it has a relaxed vibe. And I was surprised by their menu. I thought they would only have burgers bit it turns out that they have high culinary dishes!

I just love the atmosphere at this place, loads of beers, friendly and happy staff, busy but not too loud and a wide range of foods: appetizers, easy dinner or full 4 course menu and all with vega(n) options. Yesterday we had the 4 course menu, were blown away by the quality of the first two courses, the main was just normal good and only desert wasn't really our thing. The beer pairing was the best thing as it really took me out of my comfort zone and had me giggly by the end of the night. I'm definitely coming back for more. If you're around, I would definitely recommend this place for a night out with your friends or boyfriend. Dont expect too much and you'll be amazed! Price-quality-wise, its a perfect match for me.

The food is always of good quality here and good vegetarian options as well. Nice selection of beers. I definately recommend this place.

Had to stay for a couple of hours due to unforeseen circumstances, but I probably would have stayed just as long if that wasn't the case. 😁 The staff is friendly all around, and were really knowledgeable about the beers they had on draft. Even though they were swamped due to the aforementioned circumstances, they still took their time to be courteous to each and every customer.

Small place, very cozy, nice staff. Only thing I would wish is that the music would have been just a little lower since it was hard to have a conversation inside. Yet, I understand that the music was that loud since a lot of people were dancing and singing along..

If you are not young enough no one is getting the care of you, you need to go INTO the bar just to ask for a beer. They were partying more than working ( I work in Horeca, I know )

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I had a very unpleasant experience at De Flater. The so called “owner,” someone named Teehs (or something like that), accused us of using drugs in the bathroom. This was completely untrue, we never use drugs. The reality was that I was simply helping my friend clean his pants after someone had vomited on him earlier that night. Instead of listening, the “owner” said, “This is my place, you need to leave,” and sent us outside. The security guard wasn’t very understanding either. Fortunately, there was a kind bartender outside who did listen to our story. He understood what really happened, saw that we hadn’t used any drugs, apologized for his colleague’s behavior, and even offered us a beer. Thanks to that bartender’s kindness, we could end the night on a somewhat better note. Still, I would only consider coming back here if this so-called owner is not around.

A friend and I were profiled at the entrance by some drunk white dude in a power trip acting like the bouncer, but the wasn't. Said to us "Did I say you could enter?", then when my friend takes me inside because that dude was being rude and unreasonable, he goes behind the bar to tell the bartender to kick us out. Then the both of them started staring at us very intimidatingly and before I could react my friend grabbed my hand and we left bwfore they could do amything. There's some discrimination and racism going on in that place. Horrible, don't go there.

Denied entry on a Friday 11.30pm by bouncer grabbing arm and pushing me out as I was walking in. Supposedly its members only. Except no one else seems to have this problem. And the bar wasnt even packed.

Lovely spot to just have a drink in the sun while watching people passing by in front of the canal. A spot for regulars, it is jovial as you all sit really side by side on those tiny benches and can start a conversation. I just had to leave earlier than I wanted a few times as cigarette smoke bothers me and it can't be avoided.

The perfect spot to people watch, try some great Jenever or brews, and spend a few hours relaxing in Utrecht. When I asked the bartender for a menu he said, "it's right here, (pointing at his skull) in my head", with a smile. Indeed it was. The staff was friendly, fast and fun. Try to get a terrace seat right on the edge of the street to truly get a sense of the level of bike traffic in Utrecht. Wonderful experience. It would easily turn into a local hang for me if I was living in Utrecht. Reasonable pricing, top notch quality.

Intimate wine bar in the heart of Utrecht, love the personalized recommendations and in depth wine knowledge of the owner and his team. We had really good wines as part of a private group tasting. This is one of my favourite spots in Utrecht!!

We went for a few wines last Wednesday. The setting is really cozy, and even though there weren't many people, you still felt welcome and not alone. The service was okay—nothing too fast, and sometimes we had to wait a bit to order. We really recommend the truffle pizza and hopefully next time they have some more wines from the Bourgogne.

Very friendly staff and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. They don’t have a wine menu, but overall it was a good experience.

Very authentic vibe in this wine bar. The owner personally comes to your table and recommends a wine based on your preference! There are appetizers on the menu but it might be that they are not available anymore by the end of the day.

We loved this gem of a wine bar. Julian the owner is super knowledgeable and friendly. They also have nice bites and work with artisanal pizza place next door for authentic Neapolitan pizza. We will definitely be back.

What a great find !! Lady is very knowledgeable about wine and after listening to what we like gave us perfect glass of wine. Is very cosy and comfortable would definitely recommend a visit if you appreciate a good glass of wine!!!!
