The 50 best restaurants to have dinner in Mainz

A larger indoor restaurant with additional outdoor space which is part of the Hyatt Mainz Hotel on the banks of the Rhine. Service is good, though the menu is limited in comparison to other nearby restaurants. Food quality was good but portions are small. There is nothing that makes this more expensive restaurant stand out from the many others nearby. This is a large hotel restaurant. Views of the Rhine are only really available from the outside terrace. The limited menu choice, premium pricing and small portion size reduce the appeal and my score.

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency, and always look forward to the buffet breakfast here. Due to renovations, we were offered the choice to sit outside on the terrace... and it was beautiful. May I take the opportunity to commend the staff here. Friendly, attentive, and smiles all over. I really enjoyed my breakfast thanks to them. Dear manager, if you're looking - please commend your staff on duty for breakfast 12th August 2024 - especially the young man who took care of us on the terrace "Nick"

The food was ok but the service…first they brought us wrong order, then they spilled the salad, after that the other waiter spilled the food again and it got on my son’s shirt, they didn’t even apologise. Also when we ordered green tea they for some reason brought us ginger one and it was disgusting, but the rest of the food was good

This exceed my expectations. Started with the sea bass ceviche with guacamole cream. The fish was well treated and balanced with the lemon and the combination with avocado was delicious. I am going to order this again. As the main dish I went for the filet with fries and seasoning vegetables. The filet was perfectly grilled and really tender. To the filet I was recommended a glass of a local Pinot noir which matched the food perfectly. This is the best restaurant I have been to in Mainz and should be on everyone’s bucket list.

It's more like a US style restaurant with a few local dishes, instead of the other way around. I would hope to have more local foods to choose from.

With a few exceptions, my expectations for hotel restaurants are rather low. And I was all the more surprised by my experience at Bellpepper. Although the menu is based on classic hotel dishes, they are prepared extremely well with fresh ingredients in an open kitchen. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, and the hamburger left nothing to be desired. In addition, there is attentive service, which also gladly brings cocktails from the bar. Absolutely recommendable.

This is the official restaurant for the Hyatt hotel in Mainz. I would recommend going here for a special occasion with your friends and/or family when the weather is nice. They have very unique and special meals with unique ingredients and an interesting flavor palette. I actually ordered the GO GREEN menu, which was a 3 course vegan meal and delicious! Of course you must consider that the meals are a bit higher in price than a usual restaurant as it is a higher end place.

Unfortunately we had to wait roughly an hour for our food. When it did arrive we were not disappointed, however. Also the service made the wait quite doable. Great Flammkuchen and an interesting assortment of drinks. Recommended. Lots of options to choose from, many also vegetarian friendly. It's a nice, old-school-y vibe with a fire place in the center. Quite cozy and very German I would say.

Very cosy restaurant with solid food, Flambkuchen, like a different thin pizzas. Service a bit slow on a full restaurant but overall very pleasant!

This was a great experience. The Flammkuchen were amazing! I ask for a recommendation because there were so many good options. The server recommended the sampler from the appetizer menu. They have a variety of vegetarian as well as vegan options. The Mainzer was my favorite and I will be back for more. The service was great. The two girls did a fantastic job creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends or special occasions. Inside and outside seating available. Great spot for a snack and a cold beverage.

Stupendous flammkuchen. Light and crispy, yet filling. They have English menus and the servers are very friendly. It was pretty busy so we couldn’t always get their attention, but they still checked in which was good. Stopped by on a Thursday night ~20:00 and it was packed, but we still got a table for 3. Only waited 5min for them to clean up a table. We walked in and were greeted by an enticing warm aroma from all the flammkuchen they were rolling out. Food didn’t take long to come out either. Try any of it, you won’t be disappointed. Catch of the day had a generous amount of salmon. Will definitely return! It’s a must try if you’re in the area.

The flammkuchen are so good! Also, the place is very cozy because they have a bonfire that gives a warm feeling to the restaurant. In addition, their artesanal beer is great.

The Flammkuchen is excellent. I had the raclette one. It was amazing. The house beer and the aperitifs are also amazing.

Service was slow, we had to attract a waitress' attention to get anything (even a table). I wouldn't say that they were overtly friendly.

I would absolutely return to Heiliggeist! The setting was terrific, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The staff was very helpful, and remained patient with us even though our German is awful. Each waiter and waitress seamlessly switched the English which made things much easier. I got the Steak Frites and my wife had the Filet Mignon, both of which were cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauces complimented the meats quite well. We were never rushed, and were able to enjoy a fantastic evening. Eating at a former church whose history dates back to the 1200s was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!

I had dinner at Heiliggeist on a Friday. Reservations were required. The staff speaks English and they offered an English menu. We tried the spundkas and wiener schnitzel with lingonberry (recommend by the waiter). I have no idea of the spundkas was authentic but we enjoyed it and it was served with a soft pretzel. This was my first wiener schnitzel and it was made with veal so incredibly tender. I liked it with the lingonberry jam - I think the acidity from the jam is needed otherwise it would be too heavy. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the waiter was friendly with us non-German speakers. The only thing we didn't like was that it took over an hour for us to get our food.

Great service and delicious food. The watermelon salad was the perfect starter as the schnitzel takes awhile to prepare but was well worth the wait. Staff spoke excellent English and humored by attempts at German

20250521 - Great food, venue and service. The inside is a high ceiling converted church hospital to restaurant. We sat outside to enjoy the outside evening air. I tried the traditional Wiener Schnitzel and was not disappointed. Very healthy portions. We also tried the tomato soup and pretzels with a dip. We finished with a crème brûlée and latte. The soup was ok. The pretzels were store bag pretzels and the dip was ok.

To our surprise we did not have a reservation and got a seat outside (saturday night) . The place was packed but they had tons of space outside. Service was good , nothing crazy . The food was very good , the truffle fries were to die for and also the tomato soup . Overall we enjoyed the place , good drinks and good food. The place itself is beautiful just to look at, so is very cool you get the chance to eat there . The only thing we did not understand is that in the menu it says the service is included and then when we got the bill we were asked for tip . I find it was a bit pricey so definitely visiting for special occasions.

Amazing location and great food and wine selection. The interior is nicely designed and the staffs are nice however rather slow. If you are not in a hurry then thats not a problem! Otherwise a great place to visit with friends or colleagues for dinner!

Great food and beers. Portions are huge. They also sell bottled beers that you have to use within 10 days. Luckily some of the waiters speak English otherwise I would have been completely lost. I think booking might be a good idea, the place is very big but very popular too.

The pork knuckle was giant and delicious. The house light beer was also good. It was nice sitting outside with the breeze. There were lots of flies though, so, if you don’t like insects, you may want to eat indoors.

Called for a last minute reservation, they could not have been friendlier, found us a table on top floor (super cold Ac!) and amazing server, we had our beers in 5 minutes everyone was so friendly! Food we ordered schnitzel and added on mushroom sauce and red cabbage, and had brats and a salad everything was amazing, and huge portions. Highly recommend can’t wait to come back

Very good experience. The servers were super nice, made some recommendations and even allowed me to taste their ipa beer before ordering. The food was very tasty and the portions were quite big. Would really recommend it.

Very typical German place in Mainz. It was recommended to us. I liked it, the food, it is like a tavern, which makes it very typical. I ordered spätzle with meat and some sauce, very tasty. 😋 Some guests on the other tables ordered like a gigant bier tube, it was enormous. Pitty that I don’t like to drink alcohol, otherwise it would have been a whole experience to have tried that thing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

No waiting time needed on a weekday evening. The place is actually quite big including seems like an underground floor. It gets more and more crowded as the night goes. Food did not take long to arrive. Portions were good in general. We ordered 2 pork knuckles for 6 persons and it still seemed too much. The seasoning for all dishes was not very salty and would not make you crave for water after every bite. The restaurant is pet-friendly as I saw a Lab was allowed to enter with the owners, which was very nice.

The place has a great atmosphere—an original old pub. Beer is even better. The pork shank I had was not good. The more it cooled, the more it resembled dry wood. In the end, it was even very hard to chew. I managed to eat a third of it. I will come back for the beer and the atmosphere, maybe try something else to eat.

A well done 200gr filler steak. Wow wow wow. Still very soft and juicy and slightly pink in the inside. The corn was sweet and delicious, the staff was very kind. Honestly a very good experience!!

Amazing dinner...think it was the best steak of my life honestly. Got the 200g filet medium rare and the salad with the orange mustard vinaigrette. Like everyone else says definitely make a reservation. I was alone on a Friday night and called about 3hrs before and they were wonderful enough to get me a table but that was just luck I think. If you want an amazing steak dinner with friendly service in Mainz Steakhaus El Chico is your spot.

My favorite restaurant for steak. Best in Mainz!! I always come here every times if I visit Mainz city. I cannot missed the steak here. The quality of the meat and the perfect cooking here made steak become juicy in perfect condition. I would like to try the pure beef then I only order the steak without any sauce or decoration. It’s perfect!! I suggest to book the seat in advance because this restaurant is always full. Otherwise you need to come during unusual dining time to get the seat. As I said, come here when you have visited Mainz is a must!!

I wish I could have given it a better rating. But unfortunately if you're not white, then expect to wait almost 40 minutes before anyone might come by your table to take your order. However they had amazing wine to try out. I wish though that we could have tried more but the waitress only came by once to take your order. And we had to leave after waiting for over 2 hours to order our second round.

My experience was at this tpycally German restaurant/wine house was great. The food is very good and reasonably priced, warm atmosphere and and good "Michel" wines. The waiter told us that the restaurnt also own a winery some kilometers away from Mainz. Will come again.

We were there during white asparagus season and they really showcased the local dish beautifully. Did the smaller of the two tasting menus and every dish was delicious. Attentive but not overbearing service.

I had a wonderful lunch at Steins Traube. We did the light menu (menu legere) which came with 5 courses not including petit fours. The staff were very patient and kind with non-German speakers such as myself. We started the meal with non-alcoholic drinks and "snacks" (which overlapped with the starter of our menu). In our case, it was curried prawns covered with katifai. Then we had a burrata dish, a prawn dish, chicken, and dessert. All of the dishes were delicious and not too big or heavy which was fitting for the lighter tasting menu. We learned that the restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and the wife (Alina) served us some of our dishes and she was very friendly. Their kids were in the restaurant during our meal so it was cute to see them wandering around. Definitely recommend having a meal at Steins Traube.

What a beautiful evening at the currently most exciting restaurant in Rhineland Palatinate’s capital Mainz. The spot is located outside of the busy city center in Finthen where the Stein Family will welcome you to a fine dining experience that serves french and asian inspired modern cuisine. Philipp is the director in the kitchen and Julia oversees the excellent wine menu. What truly stood out was the attention to detail of every plate that we enjoyed in the 7 course menu - especially the langoustine course and tuna course were amazing. Julia and her team paired primarily local wines to every course - definitely go for the full wine pairing and come across some rare finds. 2 areas if improvement - the ambience could be improved by a more curated choice of music (sounded like a radio was playing) and secondly the super friendly service could serve the digestif directly at the table vs bring the already poured glass. Other than that an absolute must go to restaurant and worth the trip - we will be back.

This is the perfect example of euphoric happenstance. We were looking for a nice place to eat, at the very last minute, for a adult group of 14 people, and Steins Traube just happened to be able to accommodate us. We did not know the restaurant in advance and all we had to go on, was online reviews. Our expectations, based on the reviews, were high, but also with acceptance that high online praise, doesn't always follow through. And when we walked to the restaurant (admittedly in the seasoned daylight still), we weren't sure if the restaurant was still there, as it is hard to spot from the street. It is indeed still there and what a tressure it is! Everything, and I do mean everything from food to wine list, and everything in between, is absolutely amazing. And it is amazing because everything on its own stands out but put together it becomes something more. You can have good food and nice wine, but the service might suffer, or vice versa, and it leaves a subpar impression, but when nothing falls short, it just stands out as a beacon of culinary awesomeness. The senior waiter, David, was jovial, intelligent, attentive, fast on his feet, a master of his craft, and simply awesome company. The sommelier, Maria, was a great match to David's presence, kind, and a very knowledgeable professional, who we felt very comfortable guiding us through the pretty impressive wine list. I didn't count them all, but I think easily +1000 wines. The two made for perfect company to a wonderful and humorous dining experience. They were more than ready for us, and it almost felt overwhelming at first, as we had a large, late lunch, but they quickly altered both the suggested menu and setup. We settled on a starter and a main course only, rather than a four-course meal with added appetizers. And although we changed the game at the last minute, the quality didn't suffer - it was simply put: Extraordinary. From presentation to quality and taste, everything worked. I find myself sometimes giving 4-stars to other restaurants for solid effort with minor faults, and I stand firm that getting a 5-star review from me, requires a top-tier experience beyond expectations. And it has been years since I been enjoying a restaurant experience this much. To a point, where I made it a point, to ask for the owner's attention and compliment her on what she has built. The expectation regarding the monetary aspect of an experience like this is, perhaps of course, that you can get everything you want if you are willing to pay for it. Sublime establishments often charge outrageous fees for their services, and it ruins the overall impression of the evening, if the balance isn't considering both guests and house. I was, in this regard, positively surprised as well. I hope this restaurant stays with us all for many more years to come. Steins Traube makes the Michelin Guide works proud. I will be back, hungry, thirsty and happy.

I had the pleasure of trying the Menu Prestige, which consisted of seven delectable dishes. The Amuse-Gueule, consisting of Gebackener Curry-Garnelencroustillant im Kataifiteig, was a perfect starter that set the tone for the evening. The crispy texture of the kataifi dough was balanced by the soft and succulent shrimp filling, infused with aromatic curry flavors. This was beautifully paired with a glass of champagne that further accentuated the flavors and the textures of the dish. Moving on to the second course, the Gateau von Elsässer Gänseleber, eingelegter Perigordtrüffel | Birne | Piemonteser Haselnuss | Brioche, showcased a combination of rich and earthy flavors that delighted the palate. The foie gras was silky and decadent, complemented by the sweetness of the pear and the crunch of the hazelnuts. However I found that the taste of the perigord truffle was a bit weak and lacked a bit of intensity. The icewine from 1984 was a perfect match for the dish, with its complex layers of sweetness and acidity. The third course, the Lauwarmer Kohlrabisalat, Zitrusmarinade | gebeizter Lachs | Imperialkaviar | Haferjoghurt | Dillöl, was a standout dish that impressed with its perfect balance of acidity and flavor. The citrus marinade added a tangy note to the dish, while the succulent salmon was perfectly complemented by the pearly caviar and the creamy haferjoghurt. The Riesling from Nierenstein was a great pairing, with its crisp and refreshing acidity that cut through the rich flavors of the dish. The fourth course, Jakobsmuschel in langem Pfeffer gebraten, Lila Spitzkohl | Rote Beete | Pistazie | Rohmilch Crème fraîche, was a highlight of the evening. A more pronounced taste of the Zwiebelcreme would have elevated the dish to perfection. The dish was paired with a rich and full-bodied red wine, a Spätburgunder. The meal concluded with a dessert of Babybanane in Salzkaramellglasur with gebrannte Mandel, Limette, Kokos, Sorbet von Litschi, and getrocknete Ananas. The combination of the sweet banana and the tangy lime was a burst of flavor in the mouth, while the coconut added a tropical twist. The staff was outstanding, professional, and welcoming, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. We had an absolutely unforgettable evening at Weinstube Hottum. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The host and owner personally helped us select a fantastic wine that paired perfectly with our meal, and every recommendation was spot-on. We tried the steak, the schnitzel, and the rump steak, and each dish was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and truly authentic. Sitting next to some of the host’s own family members made the experience even more special, adding to the warm and genuine atmosphere that you just can’t find everywhere. The combination of incredible food, thoughtfully chosen wine, and such heartfelt hospitality made the night one to remember. Weinstube Hottum is a gem in Mainz, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who wants an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

Great little wine bar in Mainz. We had the Schnitzel and rump steak. Both were excellent. My wife tried a local Riesling, which was very good. The service was excellent. The servers spoke English, so that was a plus. If you are in Mainz, I would highly recommend this place.

The place feels very local, they offer a great variety of food and wine. I had the schnitzel, which was amazing, and the brie(served in a way I’ve never seen before). Everything was really good, and I’ll definitely go back. As for the service, I’m not sure..maybe it’s just the German style, or maybe it’s because I’m a tourist in what seems to be a spot for locals only 😬but they didn’t seem particularly happy to see me. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the warmest

This wine bar is a beautiful place with a lovely rustic atmosphere, friendly staff, and good wine. However, if you want some water with your wine, be prepared to pay for it — they don’t serve tap water for free, even though the tap water in Mainz is excellent. For me, that’s always over the line. They told me it’s common in Germany, but just a short walk away at Weinstube Schreiner, they happily offer water for free. Personally, this is a deal-breaker — I don’t go back to places that charge for water. But if that doesn’t bother you, though, it’s still a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the very center of the old town.

Not only the food is great, the staffs are amazing. Even in the most busiest time, they listen with smile, no stress and you feel you are very well taken care of. We always have great time here. Thank you 💕

Didn’t quite realise how precious this restaurant was, from the setting to the ambience - all round just fantastic. That being said, I can’t really say that the food was paired well to the price. I do believe, a little more thought into the flavouring could have done wonders. Maybe we were a bit unlucky. Nevertheless, would recommend in case you are in the mood for a romantic dinner.

Great german Cuisine, with well worked out dishes; new dishes are introduced every month. The wine list has very nice german wine, as well as french & italian. The setting is rather casual, but enjoyable; go for it !

Made a reservation for this restaurant on a precious holiday, called before to check if they had open, waiter confirmed that but did not give out any additional Information to Corona entrance regulations in their state. We live in Frankfurt and 2G is mandatory. Anyway, went on time to our reservation at the front door was no sign that the restaurant would only allow entry to 2G+. Once we got in, nobody greeted us at the entrance, only a little sign available to login to the Luca app, once we’re done with that we entered another door into the restaurant, the waitress greeted, we said that we made a reservation, we were seated. Meanwhile we felt uncomfortable by the other guests because they kept starring at us! After approximately 3-5 min the waitress arrived to our table and asked us if we were vaccinated which we confirmed with two doses. Unfortunately we were told by the waitress that 2G+ is mandatory in Mainz Rhineland Palatinate. I mean we could have blamed us for not informing us about the current rule in Mainz but who can still keep up with the overload of Corona changes each state does?!? We were shocked that they allowed to be seated in this restaurant after all. The waitress offered us to take a Antigentest for 3,50 € each but to take the test in their restroom. Question, does it make sense to require a Antigentest After-we’re already seated for 5 min in this example? We felt discomfort from the other guest who sat too close. Other guest didn’t stop starring at us after being blamed not knowing the rules. That was just too much for us, we’ve decided to leave that place immediately without a word! If you don’t feel comfort don’t spend your money! At the end the owner left us a nasty voicemail, by giving us the fault for not knowing the rules in Mainz. People like him and his team should know better! Admit that you did not follow proper rules by checking your guest right at the entrance! No Covid warning signs by the front door no nothing!

I wanted to enjoy an good German beer during my day trip to Mainz. The host was very helpful and cheerful and suggested a beer that I really enjoyed.

Best format of the Restaurant I've ever visited! Absolutely cozy place at the nice district of the city. There is a lot of Cafes and restaurants around. And at this place you can only buy drinks (they haven't any food) and order any food from the restaurants around. It's an Italian restaurant, Sushi, Fish restaurant, Thai, Vietnam and even Kebab (Dönner). So you need to pay for your food to the waiter from restaurant (don't forget to give them a tips) and for a drinks you will pay layer for the waiter of Zeitungsente. Stuff are incredible nice. Dog friendly (your dog can also get a drink here).

Amazing! Chef Carl has really made it his personal mission to showcase the best of Rheinhessen produce and what a great success it was - spectacular cooking that’s both refined and intense. Service was attentive and warm, which is nothing short of the miracle given the small team of three works both the kitchen and restaurant floor. The wine list is set to develop further but already features some of the best Germany offers without breaking the bank. Hope to be back soon.

Food was globally good but way too expensive for the quality. At this price we expected a higher level and got disappointed. Mainly for the 14€ dessert we did not even finish.as.the rum cream was highly questionable and wasting the rest of the apple pie.

Do not recommend. The last visit to the place was far from good. And I actually found the restaurant rather underwhelming. The food was ok when we finally got it, but they made us wait for the order for more than an hour! There were no apologies or explanations till the issue was raised, and even after the head waiter came up, they worded the situation as if we were the ones to apologise. Neither the atmosphere in the restaurant nor the dishes can help the bad aftertaste of the experienced attitude.

This is great place to dine and spend time in. The vista, the Rhein alongside the outdoor seats and a nice, attentive service round out the small lunch menu that, with a bigger menu for dinner service. It’s great to meet, stop on your bike tour or just visit to enjoy the food and drinks.

A super location, we came spontaneous and got a place outside on a picnic table. Not full on a Sunday evening, gorgeous view. We also had wonderful weather. My husband had a typical local dish, "Hand Käse" and I ordered Tagliatelle. The food was disappointing, my pasta was rather strips of thick pancakes, and the other dish was a fast food version of the original. The price paid for the view and location. You would think that they could manage simple food, which wasn't the case. Good that we didn't attempt something more sophisticated. Still worth the experience...just keep your expectations low on the food.

One of the most lovely meals we have had in Germany this trip. Came here on a rainy Wednesday for lunch, SLIM, our server, took such good care of us and helping to celebrate my husband‘s birthday. The mussels were outstanding and the beautiful wine even better. Thank you so much for making this such a great experience.

Was at a work trip in Frankfurt and was introduced to this amazing restaurant in Mainz where we had an amazing and awesome dining experience with delicious food served. The environment was great and all of us had great food and wine served! Definitely worth the trip to drive all the way from Frankfurt to Mainz. Best Italian authentic food I had by far!

Every time I visit my family in Mainz, it is a MUST to go to Il Mondo for an amazing dinner experience. The minute we step into the restaurant, we feel welcomed and at home. The service is incredible. Every bite of the food is an experience that makes you feel like you’re in heaven. Everything is absolutely delicious. From being greeted at the door by the owner and several staff who in fact each and everyone of them waited on us throughout the night and took time to stop and visit with us all evening long. The food was incredible and you could tell they take pride in their food and restaurant! The suggestions that were made helped us to decide what to eat and did not fail in any way! Our wood fired pizzas were amazing. We're not wine experts, but I can say the wine and grappa menu was extensive. We ended up splurging on dessert, which turned out to be a tasty decision. Our service was top notch. I wish every restaurant had such attentive, friendly, yet unobtrusive servers. Will be returning for sure!

Outside tables are under the big trees nearby. You can eat your food relatively cooler temperature in this hot summer☀️. We ate Power bowl, Tacos and Sweet potato chips with Chipotle mayo. Taco was ok but not so special. But bowl was full of fresh and healthy ingredients and very tasty. Strongly recommend!

We had been to an El burro in Austria before and it did not disappoint so we decided to try this one in Mainz and no disappointment here. Food was really good, seating was good, staff was awesome, parking garage for normal sized cars (ht is 1.8) is about a 3-5 minute walk (parking garage is just past the cinestar on the right coming from wiesbaden/mainz-kastel). Well worth it, I will be back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Elburó in Mainz is absolutely fantastic! 🌟 I love their Ice Matcha Latte with mango flavor – it’s refreshing, unique, and such a perfect twist. The chicken nachos were loaded, delicious, and full of flavor, definitely one of the best I’ve had. To top it all off, their Virgin Maracuja Colada was simply amazing – tropical, fresh, and the perfect non-alcoholic treat. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is super friendly, and I really enjoyed the Mexican music playing in the background – it gave such a nice vibe. One small suggestion: it would be great if the menu had photos of the dishes, it would make choosing even more fun and easier. Overall, an amazing experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Came here for dinner during a recent stay in the city, based on the high scores from other visitors. We were not disappointed. Super friendly staff who spoke great English and delicious food. Great atmosphere, it was quite busy when we went but service was good and food came quite quickly. Toilets were clean and the menu was huge, so much to choose from. I had the Aberdeen Angus fajitas, they were mega! Also had churros for dessert, very tasty.

Nice evening spent. The complaint is that the toilet is too small, which is always crowded and very hot. The ventilation does not work, so consider an air-conditioned space with large toilet holders paper. Small rolls wear out quickly and the person working has to change them often.

I enjoy on each visit. It is nice to watch the city of Frankfurt from such a distance and from above. When the weather is clear, the paths drawn by planes in the sky turn into interesting signs. The service, menu variety and prices were affordable. You need to drive slowly on the roads of the region. No parking problem.

The outdoor seating area is open for everyone who’s had the vaccine or has a negative COVID test. There’s not a lot of options on the menu right now, but the food is delicious. And the location is amazing overlooking the Rhine and some wine yards.

Dominick was our waiter and spoke perfect English. He welcomed us with open arms. The food was GREAT and the wine choices were plentiful. Our waiter recommended Kerner wine for me and it was amazing!!! This is a lovely, clean and wonderful restaurant. We enjoyed the 10 minute walk from our hotel on the river bank to the front door. We had our hotel concierge make reservations and we are happy we did as this was the best meal we have had in Germany!!

The best place in Mainz. Food is amazing especially their curd, steak, and bratkartoffeln (pan fried potatoes), meticulously picked local wine selection, the atmosphere and even service was superb. Dominique was most kind, giving us explanation on food and culture here. His positive energy just shines! We'd definitely come back for another dinner here if we get a chance to visit Mainz. But be sure to book first!! The place is always packed and fully booked, which I can clearly see why.

Very friendly staff. Knowing we’re not from Germany, he explained how the dish “Meenzer Handkäs mit Musik“ got its name, and we had a good laugh. Our 2-year-old daughter’s drink was served with a straw without being asked. All the dishes we ordered were very delicious. Generous portion. Warm and relaxing atmosphere. It was exactly what we were looking for. If we ever make a trip back to Mainz, we definitely will come here again.

Very long established neighbourhood wine restaurant with a variety of classic German cuisine updated to reflect modern dining preferences. Vegetarian choices including a veggie schnitzel either served with sauce or topped with tomatoes and grated melted cheese (my favourite, haven’t seen it served like this anywhere else in Mainz). Their house salad is fresh (with a choice of yogurt dressing or lightly sweet sour vinaigrette, and the home fried potatoes are perfectly cooked. I enjoyed it on their large front patio under the huge umbrella, with a ,2 l glass of halbtröcken rosé. Juice or wine spritzers, 4 beers on tap, and non-alcoholic beverages are available; but their extensive choices of locally produced wines with detailed flavour profiles described in the menu are what they are proudest to serve. They also have a back patio that lacks the experience of watching the world go by, and seeing people pass by as they walk their dogs. Prices are reasonable, and the staff are very friendly and caring. Everyone us made to feel very welcome. Seasonal specialties (in May the white asparagus ‘spargel’ is served with hollandaise or melted butter, and small portions of ham, rump steak or schnitzel; but no cream soup) are offered. Two desserts featured, apple rings with ice cream or warm chocolate cake. I found the main course too filling for either. Credit cards are accepted. Special events include a drag evening (that sells out early) and book readings by local authors. It’s a local gem off the beaten path of the large chain restaurants and pretentious bistros. Just a quiet oasis to enjoy great food and the company of friends.

Every time I come to Mainz over the last 15 years or more, I try to dine at Incontro, so I've been here at least 10 times. I've never not loved the food and the service. They have wonderful Italian dishes and fresh, yummy seafood. The waiters are always so friendly and fun, and I always see exchanges of happiness there, as the people that work there enjoy it and share their exuberance with the customers, who are sometimes Italian, too! The tables are somewhat close together, but they're made up beautiffly with nice white tablecloths and they have outdoor seating, too. I highly recommend and can honestly say that everyone I've ever taken there with me has loved it, too!!

The best meal I’ve had in quite some time. Good seafood is difficult to find in Germany, but my boyfriend’s seared tuna steak with vegetables (€27.50) and my grilled seafood plate (don’t remember the price but it was worth it) were both fantastic. The staff was attentive, friendly and offered great wine pairings when asked. The Castello Svevo Bianco from Sicilians was a perfect white for my dinner. I highly recommend this place, you can’t go wrong. They were kind enough to bring me a menu in English and many of the staff spoke English. One waiter also spoke Spanish with my boyfriend, who is from Spain and doesn’t often get to converse in his own language in Germany. It was a true delight.

Great hidden gem. We didn’t stay at the hotel but saw the reviews and didn’t disappoint. Great cocktail options, the ambiance is great. Quiet, and the design of the bar and hotel is just beautiful. Make sure you go to the back room close to the lobby it’s beautiful. The food menu looks great but limited.

Lovely service and well-prepared dishes here at Adam & Eden. They also have a good selection of drinks and gins which was what we had with our dinner. Portions are hearty which made for a very satisfying meal!

I had the pleasure of dining at this unique African cuisine restaurant. The vibrant decor and lively music created a great atmosphere. The restaurant staff were not only proficient in English but also friendly. However, my experience was slightly marred when I felt a bit rushed while placing my order. I inadvertently selected only four items instead of the intended five, and unfortunately, the waiter didn't provide a heads-up. To my disappointment, the missing item was then replaced with the least expensive potatoes side dish available.

Awesome time. Make sure you have a reservation on a Friday night, by 630pm we we're put into a smaller side wall table. We had fun with and enjoyed the experience of everything. The food ,oh my, amazing flavor. We had the combo for two. The entire meal is eaten without utensils, be prepared to use your hands. Only come with people you would allow to double dip! Outside is very plan you may pass by without knowing your there. The door has a bell on the right side. You have to ring and be let in. Handwash stations are scattered about so you can clean up after you enjoy. Very casual and they have English menus, Staff will guide you.

There are three menus to choose from, one of which is vegetarian, which I very much appreciated. Nevertheless, two fish dishes came to the table as a greeting from the kitchen. Before Tobias Schmitt, I had hit-and-miss experiences. However, our recent visit was charming. We did the four-course, and everything was perfectly crafted, from flavours to presentation. I had a hard time choosing what course because everything sounded great. The other stand-out part was the atmosphere, which was so comfortable and elegant. The staff were excellent and accommodating to our eight-year-old son, who was dining with us. I highly recommend this restaurant in Mainz and will be back soon.

This restaurant is a staple in Mainz and I’ve been frequenting here for several years. The food has always been good and the service has been ok as well.

Quite a tradition in Mainz, the kind of place your parents would have gone to - it's cosy, high quality with delicious food and charm. Brilliant service, too!

60 years ago next year this restaurant opened. This restaurant is not for everyone I will admit. But if you want a time warp into a weird old school Quentin Terintino movie with amazing mafia style Italian food. This is the place. We are from North America and this totally reminded me of the old school Italian in New York. For those reviews that suggested the decor needs updating, shame on you. We had mussels with white wine sauce, minestrone soup and an Italian chop salad and all were excellent. Looking forward to returning to try the other Italian dishes.

Visited Oma Else with high hopes, but the experience fell short. The food was disappointingly average — the asparagus was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the accompanying sauce was far too watery to add anything to the dish. To top it off, the tea was served in a glass with a sharp chip on the rim, which felt careless and unsafe. Service was polite, but overall not enough to make up for the underwhelming meal.

Overall it’s very nice and the staffs are friendly and funny. I give it a four stars instead of five as the outdoor table is small and the bench is uncomfortable to sit on when you want to spend a long evening there. Wish they can get some comfortable chairs for outside.

Very very busy place, my advice would be to book a table. Having said that the waitress got us a table (thank you). The food was pretty good the waitress did tell me what the egg looking part of the dish was but that was many beers earlier. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Nice small restaurant in the heart of Mainz. Wanted to come here for such a long time and finally did it. Food was really delicious. There is various kind of food: fish, meat, pasta, pizza. We had Porcini mushrooms as appetiser, homemade pasta and pizza for main course. Porcini mushrooms were amazing. However, service was average. Very slow and did not come during dinnner if we want one more drink even our glasses were empty for a long time. No eye contact with the customers. Just basic stuff, take order, bring food, bring bill etc. Such a sweet and cosy restaurant should have better service.

The porcini appetizer was very watery and not very tasty. The pistachio pasta was just salty. On the other hand, the white fish pasta was delicious, so I recommend it! If you go around 7pm, you will have to wait about an hour from ordering to getting your food. I recommend making a reservation right after the restaurant opens. The waitresses were very friendly :)

Amazing food,wine and staff. I was there last night with my wife and i can definetly recommend the place.

We had a fine lunch there. We were traveling for more than 3 weeks and only had soup for lunch. The soup was excellent so was the bread. And the service was excellent, they treated us very well, even with only having soup. We shall go back when we'll be back in town and have a full meal.

Hyped place with slightly above-average pasta that do not justify their artisanal claim, and not so great fish that tasted like defrosted by microwave. Small place, can be noisy with some bourgeois yakkers talking at high volume without a break for 2 hours. No truffle pasta in spring and summer time (why?), which leaves the rest of the menu rather uninteresting. Friendly waitress though. The guys in charge need to polish their cuisine and soft skills.

Good Italian food ! Nice pasta , fish is good as well. A lot of variety. Try the tagliatelle al parmigiano: they are not only delicious but also prepared in a special way... you will see that ! Location in Mainz's centre, not big. Water is really expensive... take wine instead!

Food is awesome! I've tried the pasta carbonara and it tasted like heaven. The rib-eye gorgonzola was also great! I'd go there for dinner every single night if possible.

I considered this experience a waste of my time and money unfortunately, although I heard a lot about this place. I had the vincent vegan breakfast. The scrambled tofu had dry taste of just curry, and nothing else. The Hummos was just mashed chickpeas with tahini, no lemon, no garlic, no olive oil and not even salt. The avocado was unfortunately also so dull and boring. My plate with or without it wouldn’t change a bit. The salad part of the dish was minimal too, had a good dressing tho. Service was kind :3 no complaints about that. And the tram that was passing by is just a mood killer. I know the place couldn’t do much about it but if you want to go there for outdoors time, keep that in mind. Maybe the cake would’ve been delicious (they looked dope) but I was so disappointed by then to try anything else.

Jedzenie nie smakowa. I would give 3,5 but can’t, and I would give it only cause of staff. There were adorable and helpful. Food was really basic, nothing new and kinda too expensive for that plate.

Cappuccino and chocolate-strawberry cake taste very well. In addition staffs are lovely and funny ☕️ 🍰. I definitely remember the funny words of funny waiter “ Kuchen in der Küche“ 🤣🤣🤣

This is a very cute cafe in Mainz close to the city center. It’s always very lively inside and they offer daily specials in addition to what’s on the menu. They have a range of vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast and lunch and dinner as well as vegan dessert. The best part is they don’t charge extra for vegan milk alternatives. They clearly state that almost everything is made by the restaurant itself and ingredients like eggs or milk come from local farms in the region. The bread comes from bàckerei vetter in Mainz altstadt. The coffee beans are also from the Mainz kaffeerösterei amori coffee.

Very nice place to take a good breakfast/brunch. I had scrumbbled eggs and a yogurt, my friend had the jam and cheese plate and both were very delicious. Only "but" was that at the end the staff was so busy that did not appear again so we had to go to the bar to ask for another drink. But in general I liked the place, the staff was very friendly and the food was good. For sure I will come back.

Zum Goldstein is a charming spot in Mainz old town with a cozy beer garden under 170-year-old chestnut trees, friendly service, and delicious traditional German dishes.

Atmosphere on point. It’s got a very nice and beautiful tree in the middle of the patio! Food was amazing! Wiped out the entire plate. Service was great! Prices were very reasonable and huge portions. We also ordered a bottle of wine that they recommended and no regrets there. A absolutely enjoyed it! **always remember to make a reservation! They’re always fully booked.**

Popped in for dinner on a busy evening. The waitress managed to get us a table as there were some people leaving. The food is traditionally German. The portions were large and the food tasted delicious. Service was excellent our waitress was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a meal in Mainz.

In my opinion quality of the food is overrated to start with. We were a group of 5 people and the waiter forgot my order. I had to wait another 20 minutes before being served. Mistakes happen and it's not a big deal, but at least have the courtesy to apologize to me directly instead of my male colleague! Didn't offer any type of compensation either.

Delicious food, friendly service but a bit unattended. They also often seemed to be standing around in front of the kitchen chatting. One other minor criticism: the edamame had significantly too much salt on top and no salt at all on the bottom. But that's just a minor oversight in the preparation. Very appealing ambience!

The environment and the service is perfect. We ordered the vegan red curry with rice and the miso spicy noodle. The noodle has some room of improvement. Soup: There is only spicy flavor. feels like lack of salt. The miso taste is also not strong enough. Noodles: no soup flavor, the texture is not chewy enough. If it is made by hand, maybe the problem is the kneading process. The chicken is not from a good part of the checken, much skin and so on. Just personal opinion as I don’t like skin. But it is just one noodle so maybe other noodles taste better.

We really like this chain and always like to try it where we go. Prices are good and you can eat well. Their dishes are very good and there is a large selection. The venue is very nice and has several seats inside as well. We had a good time because the staff was very kind to us.

Pleasantly surprised by the whole experience at MoschMosch in Mainz. It was quite full on a Sunday at lunch time and we waited a bit until we got served, but the food tasted pretty good. Due to a misunderstanding, I received a totally wrong order, but this was corrected in no time.

I ordered a noodle soup with vegetables and some chicken. I couln't eat the meat and left it. Was a bit in a hurry. Environment good, atmosphere good, a good name... I expected much better. Will not go there a 2nd time. It's convenient because it's for city people.

Our first visit there. The menu was super presented, and the selection quite sufficient. Service was friendly. The ambiance did not completely convince us, but felt open and kind of neat. The food was hot and tasted great. So far, so good. I guess, what really bothered us, is the fact that the prices are quite up there; and ingredients like any meats, or vegan alternatives have to be ordered separately and added at an extra price. That really irritated me, especially with the type of food being offered at this restaurant. We ended up paying more than 52,-- € for 2 persons for 2 small appetizers, main entrée and a water as well as a soda pop. Honestly, even in a city like Mainz, we should not have to spend quite that much or, if I pay a higher amount, please at least include meat or the vegan alternatives in the entrée's price.

Great place! The staff was very welcoming and kind. The menu has plenty of options, service was quick, and the food was delicious. Just a heads-up on the spiciness🥵we ordered mild, and even our friend who loves spicy food found it spicy! Overall, we loved the place, especially the charming décor.

I rarely put 5 stars.This is Thai restaurant is Very good I should say Excellent. I came yodag for the second time to confirm the first very good impression. It is again very good. The portions are good size. Service is good. It is open non stop this a good point in s city. A bit not enough spicy for me I tried a 3 chilis and was not enough hot. I took fir my son the noodles for 3.5 Euros. He adored them. I will recommend highly they Thsi Country.

I’ve visited this restaurant twice, primarily for their excellent spare ribs. During my first visit on a late Saturday lunch, the noise level was quite high due to the restaurant being fully occupied. This aspect could perhaps be improved. However, my second experience was much more pleasant with a half-full dining area. I anticipate that dining on their balcony during the summer would be a delightful experience.

Nice steak, burger, veggie restaurant overlooking the pedestrian zone in front of the Opera House. Very innovative cocktails and lemonade mixes. Was glad to enjoy a steak and white asparagus! Hungry, so I forgot to take a picture of my meal when it was served. Delicious bourbon cocktail.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The waiters were rude and showed no interest in the guests — even while ordering, they acted as if we were disturbing them. The place was extremely noisy, making it almost impossible to have a normal conversation or enjoy the evening. There was no sense of hospitality or helpfulness during the service. Our table wasn’t properly attended, and when we asked questions about the menu, the staff responded dismissively. For a place that looks nice from the outside, the service quality was surprisingly poor. The food was acceptable, but the overall atmosphere and staff attitude completely ruined the experience. Definitely not recommended.

We stopped in for our first meal in Mainz. Had a very good lunch and drinks. We arrived just before noon, which seems early by german standards, and were seated immediately. The crowd definitely grew while we were there, so maybe early is better. The ribs were excellent. We came here from the southern US and understand Southern BBQ very well. The ribs were good enough that we'd return just for them. The sauce was perhaps a bit sweet for our taste and I'd have wanted a little more heat, but that's nitpicking and is an individual taste not objective fact. It's in the same general taste as many very popular sweet BBQ sauces in America. The rib consistency was spot on. Tender and hanging onto the bone just enough to manage. The chicken "burger" that I ordered was likewise excellent. The chicken was marinated and flavorful. This is unique in our experience in Germany, where most meats are "underseasoned" to our American tastes. Also, any pattie shape on a bun can be called "burger" here, regardless of meat type or method of preparation. A fried chicken sandwich can be called a burger. This one was grilled, and again was very good. The bacon and cheese represented well, and the bun was fresh and delicious. We both had fries as a side and they were light and crispy, just as they should be. We have noticed that fries are generally better here, we've never had a mushy, undercooked fry. I had a fruity drink (strawberry colada) and my wife had a hot chocolate. Both were very good. Management was not visible at the front of the house, but the waitstaff was adequate coverage and we did not need management for anything. Also, they were in the process of a photoshoot of their menu, so they may have been preoccupied with making that happen. Service was attentive and responsive. Our waitress was polite and spoke better English than we do German. We managed quite nicely, and she did not seem put out by accommodating us.

This restaurant is known for its nice views, especially if you sit outside on the balcony. They offer a variety of meals including vegan burgers and a vegan bowl with beyond meat. It would have been nice if they offered a basic vegan cheese burger but instead you had to choose from these combinations. Also, I somehow expected more out of the bowl after reading the description. Nevertheless, the staff was very friendly and you can pay with a card or cash. Also, the prices were fair compared to other places offering similar meals.

A beautiful place in Mainz. The food was delicious n even the burger was really tasty. Everything was very good. But there was one thing I have to talk about you. The service. We where sitting outside, it was not that cold that u have to let us wait that long for another round to order…I mean: u wanna make money or ? So come around. We were at the restaurant yesterday for a special occasion and the waitress who took our order FORGOT!!! We were waiting for more than half an hour JUST FOR DRINKS. Then the second waitress who we talked to simply told us "Oh, my colleague forgot" and asked us what we had ordered. NO APOLOGIES and no drinks for another 10/15 minutes. When I got really annoyed and talked to another waitress (I wanted to talk to the manager, but was told "oh he/she may not be there") and expressed how unacceptable it was, FINALLY the second waitress came over and apologized and asked us if we wanted any tea/coffee on the house which we obviously declined. NO SIGN of the first waitress who actually messed up. I have worked in customer service as well and when you mess up, you APOLOGIZE! We had a TERRIBLE time because of this incident which really ruined the special occasion we went for. A very disappointing experience at this popular restaurant. DO NOT GO to this restaurant for the service!

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this restaurant, it was perfect for what I wanted. I was accepted without a reservation and the place seems popular with the locals. Food was prepared fast, portion sizes appealing and everything tasted great. Unfortunately I was caught out by surprise as this restaurant cannot accept credit cards foreign or domestic. They only accept domestic debit cards not even foreign debit cards. I was forced to go and withdraw cash to pay for this meal. I had heard stories about this occurring in Germany, but it had never affected me since I've travelled widely within Germany and I've always been able to pay with credit cards so this was a surprise. Nevertheless I'm not gonna let this ruin my experience and I would gladly come back to this restaurant again. If you are a foreigner consider this restaurant cash only.

It feels like a guest house from a small town. Our food was really good and we had enough to need a to go box. a great spot to stop at when checking out the city center.

Very welcoming of tourists. I had the pork schnitzel with peppercorn sauce. It was delicious ! It came with choice of German style potatoes or fries. Also Salad. A great deal for around 15 euros. I also had the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. Very tasty !

Our favorite meal in Mainz (actually all of Germany during our visit)!! The pork schnitzel with peppercorn sauce was AMAZING...it was so juicy and flavorful. The atmosphere feels like a little cafe-food is so tasty. The service was excellent too. Only sad part is we went back to have it one more time before leaving and they were already closing at 7:30 pm (web site said they were open til 9).

A very cozy, family-friendly, delicious vegetarian stuffed potato restaurant (this coming from a meat-lover). Has very fair prices on food; not so much on beverages (you're in Germany, after all). The potatoes are big enough for you to take a while to finish them, if you manage to - neither me nor my friend could, but both tasted superb. All the employees were also really neat and friendly. I'll definitely return here once in a while.

The best stuffed potato I've had in a while (maybe ever)! Made me think of how underrated potatoes are. Fillings they offer come in big variety and also are super delicious! The place itself is small, bright and cozy and the girl who cooked for us was extremely sweet and friendly which made our lunch even better! 10/10, highly recommend, would come again, real soul food!

The tikka masala tastes like styrofoam in a lightly tomato sauce which is very blunt... The red beets are from a can and the lentil salad is blunt as well... Well the green stuff was at least a bit more flavored... No recommendation from my side when you order the tikka masala bowl. Maybe the junior would have been the better choice...

Good food, plenty of options, would recommend. Did not wait long to be served, meal showed up promptly. Excellent food that tastes superb but isn't very overpriced. Freshly prepared meals made out of high quality ingredients. You can really taste the food quality, my sister and I were definitely very impressed. We actually want to thank the personnel for making my brother's birthday so special.

This restaurant was very homey, from the outside it looked small but it actually had 3 floors and was quite busy for a Monday. Schnitzel and potatoes were amazing but priced at 23 euros. I wanted to try the palatinate delicacy saumagen though tasted like regular sausage to me (still worth trying though if you're in mainz) . Reisling Wine was sweet and lovely. Great dinner but a bit pricey

The Spundekäse was fantastic! In addition, the schnitzel was top notch and the potatoes that accompanied the schnitzel was the best I've had in Germany! Pleasant atmosphere, as well!

Giving it 5 Stars for the service and experience of dining there. Visited on a Saturday evening during February carnival. Lots of locals in interest costumes from the 17th & 18th century. In terms of food: schnitzel (average portion size, but good taste) & salad (generous size, with meat). Both on the high end of the cost range though... Staff speak English and are friendly. Apparently the place has a long tradition for carnival activities and a mini museum on the first floor, which was interesting.

Food was not satisfactory especially given the price. In addition, they charge extras like salad or potatoes additionally. The price for a steak is for meat only, beware. Not recommended.

We came here with 5 guys on a Saturday evening at 6pm ahead of the crowd. One meal came with the sides of another. After that they managed to forget one meal and did not even care. Just after mentioning they tried to fix, but didn’t deliver before everyone finished on the table while bringing the same dish to other tables. Overall an unpleasant experience for the prices they charge. We are from the region and would never come back. I can not recommend to people visiting from far away.

It's cosy, charming, warm and has murals on the walls. The menu is amazing and I regret that I came after dinner just for a glass of wine. I loved that there is no music and conversations from couples and groups around you fill the pauses at your own table. The other patrons and staff were very friendly! Looking forward to coming here again.

We really enjoyed our annual get together on the first Friday of the Christmas Market. The owner, and her staff are so wonderful! Perfect friendly service, so rare these days! Food and wine were excellent. We’ll be back again soon…..

We got this winehaus advised by somebody working in a wine store in town. Reviews made it look like good cuisine. The restaurant is small but cozy and without a reservation we were welcome. We choose the 3 course menu and asked for wine pairing with the food. This wasn't possible. (A chance your missing I guess when having a restaurant in a wine area and when you are called a winehaus). So we asked what good wines they have. The waiter suggested the Sauvignon Blanc because everybody likes it according to him. He could have asked our preference.. but that serving doesn't gets too much attention here showed when the waiters would never explain what was on our plates. Only an "enjoy". The starter of fish was nice. The maindish Hacktbraten was oke but too salty to both our taste. For dessert I had the cheese and my partner had the sweet dessert. Again it was fine, although when I asked which cheeses were on my plate and told them to explain me in German, the waiter couldn't recall them all. We enjoyed the coffee with the brownie a lot. It was almost the best part! Not bad food at all but people make it look like this place is fine dining and with that in mind we expected more. The dishes look fancy and cool but are not super special. By the way there was even salt and pepper on my pieces of cheese!! Cheese is salty enough guys!

One of my favorite wine bars in Mainz. Limited choices on the menu - but due to the dishes all being freshly prepared. Good advices on the rich selection of local wines.

Booked 12 days in advance for Martin's Goose, left our cell number. When we got there no goose and only 4 main meals on the menu including snails and fish soup. Service was not good. I waited 15 minutes longer than the rest for my wine. I won't be going back.

Nice place to have wine tasting on the city center

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Mainz. They have nice classic French dishes, friendly and warm staff ( senior ladies), good wine list with reasonable prices. We had dinner during Easter Sunday. We managed to get a table by calling the phone number, using my basic A1 German language as the lady does not speak English, but she was very accommodating and hospitable.

This is really a hidden spot in Mainz.... you will not find a tourist here... they don’t know that this lovely place exists! Have a look at my pictures... food is excellent! The wine list is outstanding... and the interior design is... highly unique! You will not find another place in Mainz to get more for your money!

Came here for a birthday dinner. First off we got welcomed by the staff glaring at our dog. Got seated at a table where not even 3mins after we were asked what we want and pushed into getting multiple courses and wine. We declined and just ordered the main meals and i got the soup too. The soup was actually really good and i do recommend it. The main dish on the other hand....yeah really bad. The meat barely had any flavour, was very veiny and bled all over the plate,the taste of blood still lingers in our mouths. The cabbage was bland just like the rest of the plate honestly. When we were asked if we liked it we told them how no, we didn't, of course we got greeted by glares and no apology or word of a compensation which is usually custom to do. We paid a decent amount of money for a meal that wasn't worth half as much. Other things to point out: 1. Our dog wasn't allowed to drink in the restaurant, we got told there's a water bowl in the courtyard. How shameless 2. From the looks of it the young waitresses don't get any tips, the older ladies are always the ones who handle the bill which is also shameless, never seen before Conclusion. Not worth it. The soup was good but that's about it.

Traditional and elegant decor. Service is paced but very good and amicable in a classic German way. Can find traditional and seasonal dishes. Run by a matron who likes to ask if you’re enjoying the experience. She doesn’t speak English but there’s Google translate nowadays. Coming from LA i thought the price was great for the quality and experience but then anything comparable in LA would’ve cost me 2-3x after taxes and tip.

Unique neighbourhood restaurant, very authentic and absolutely great food and wines of course. So good that we went twice on a weekend, for lunch and for dinner.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for foods and drinks ⭐️⭐️ for service We love the food. I ordered Rib Eye Steak and I love it! One of the best steaks- for that price range - I ever had. The drink was okay, I ordered Daiquiri, it's like a Slurpee so be aware of brain freeze. I like the range of offers that they give. I called and they said they have a place but only until 8 PM. Fine, we arrived at 6:40 so it's alright. Everything came fast from the entrée, drinks, and main dish. Everything went well, from the call until ordering the food - the young waitresses are friendly (the girl with the mask, the young guy, and a girl with braided hair) up until when I asked to bring a cake to our table cause it's my friend's birthday. But the senior waitress was so grumpy. It's like I am asking her for money when in fact I'm there to spend money. (we spent around 160 EUR++ and 7€ tips at the end). While almost finished the lady who was rude to me came to our table and wanted to take my friend's plate while he and we were still eating (time 7:45 PM) and we said no. The icing on the cake is when the birthday cake (lava brownie decorated with heavy cream) came at 7:50 PM, we ate quickly, and at 8:05 cause I checked the time the same lady came and "remind" us in German with a straight face and unfriendly intonation "you know that your time is only until 8:05, right?". THAT WAS. It's not like we've been reminded 2 or 3 times and didn't listen, but that was the first "reminder". We got up, paid, and still gave tips -considering the service of the cook and the other waitresses-. Why only 3 stars, I think she can remind us of the time without being mean :) That's all for today. Have a good evening.

We went here for dinner and some drinks. They have a large cocktail menu with and without alcohol, and they offer a Happy Hour during which cocktails cost €8. We made a reservation, but I think it wasn’t necessary on a Thursday evening. The food was delicious! The beef (of the foto) was tender, juicy and flavorful! Just be aware that the tomato sauce on this particular dish (perhaps 62 on the menu?, not sure) was a bit spicy, even though it wasn’t labeled as such; so for someone very sensitive to spice, it might be wise to ask about the level of spiciness. We sat outside on the terrace, which had a nice atmosphere.

These ones are like big burritos but fried finished. All the food in general is very good quality. And pricewise is good too. During summer time it has a terrace but the interior is very cozy.

A hidden Caribbean gem in Mainz Germany. This was the first cuban restaurant in Europe that didn't disappointed me. The name, you guess it is from Santiago de Cuba (The city. They serve great Cuban dishes down to the cocktails. The ambiance and everything took me back to when I used to live in Cuba and little Havana U.S. The staff super friendly and if you are a native English speaker well they speak perfect English here too. I highly recommend this place for those of you looking for something to eat to diversify your palate. It's recommend to make a reservation even if you are a solo traveler as it gets really busy.

Decided to try this place out at the recommendation from some hotel staff. We went and were not disappointed. I read some earlier reviews about the staff being not to helpful...we got the exact opposite experience. Sat at the bar and the bartender was super awesome, attentive and on the money with her drink recs and dinner suggestion. All the cocktails were fresh and they had some different takes on a lot of classics. Very delicious! Dinner... what can I say other than I dreamed about it that night because it was so good. Had something grilled and with some tasty cheese sauce. Nom!! Highly recommend going here if you stay in Mainz.

The staffs were soooo soooo good, perfect english, and they do not want to take any tip, very honest staffs and extremely nice. We always choose to eat inside in Germany no matter the weather.. because we do not like to deal with smokers as it is very normal to smoke in public spaces in Germany.

Dhal needed a bit more herbs and lemon juice, but was decent. Korma curry was sweet as expected, but nice. Rice was done perfectly! However the portions were really small for what we have paid, literally 5 pieces of meat in every dish, not enough to share with friends for example. My masala tea was “German” spicy meaning there could have been more done as I was missing the taste of cardamom and other herbal ingredients. Alcoholic cocktails were good, nothing extraordinary. Overall good experience, but the length of waiting for food along with smaller portions could be improved! Payment with a card was not an issue. Visited in May 2022.

Pleasant staff , and been going here whenever i want to have indian in Mainz. The quality of the food is very good, prices are decent and also the quantity is a lot. The service however is very slow so except to spend at least 2 hours +. The chicken and vegetarian dishes were very nice however the meat dishes werent. I am looking forward to dining here the next time in Mainz.

The restaurant interior is really like a king’s Dinner table and staff is really welcoming. I had Kadhai paneer which really had a desi ( pure Indian) flavour of garam masala and authentic spiciness on request. I am going to come once again for sure. 👌🏼

The older gentlemen preparing my food was grumpy beyond measures. I ordered small tea, they only have large mugs, so I was charged large - fine. Showarma in pita was actually 90% pickled cabbage with a touch of chicken, a slice of onion and a single piece of tomatoes. 4.5€ is very little to pay, but I would really prefer to pay more and get less cabbage. I also ordered mixed cold dishes, humus and baba ganoush, and these two vere delicious and finally up to fame of the place. I liked the atmosphere, most ppl around looked like regulars.

We had their shawarma , hummus, and mixed salad. The staff there was very friendly and even offered us pickles on request! The quality and quantity for the price ws really good!

Very very good food! Extremely comforting and generous, we had rice with a few different dishes and some Falafel with Tahini sauce on top, and a Baqlawa for dessert, everything was spectacular. We were flying to the United States so instead of looking for any options in Frankfurt, we took a train to Mainz and since this place was at 10-12 minutes distance from the train station, I decided to give it a try. I would say it’s a decent place but some dishes were not good at all. For example we tried some appetizers (pakoras and murgh pakora) and felt like it was not cooked properly and too dry. In the curries, the Paneer Masala was good but the Karahi Murgh was tasteless and only small amount of curry and chicken pieces. They even charged extra for lime/lemon which does not happen in any Indian restaurants all over the world (I have been to 18 countries and reviews each place personally). Overall, I felt like a very pricy place for the quantity they provide. The water bottle was priced at whopping 6.90 Euros which is very rare as I tried many Indian and non-Indian restaurants all over Germany during my 3 separate visits. Anyway, felt like I should provide my honest opinion.

The biriyani had great flavours and huge quantity (ended up packing some), and the Nan was freshly prepared and soft. The price-performance is also top notch. There was a very good parking garage nearby as well (~2 euros for 2 hours). Definitely worth a return visit.

Pizza Hut finally offers a few vegan pizzas on their menu so we went to try them. They were pretty good. We tried the Smokey BBQ and the Vegan Chikn and Cheese. I personally would have expected more vegan chicken in the pizza because there were only a few pieces. The staff was very friendly but I just don’t think the price is worth it - for two pizzas, garlic bread and two drinks we paid over 60 euros. I have gotten vegan pizzas just as good for less.
