Fine dining restaurant
Bellpepper Restaurant & Terrasse is an elegant dining space offering upscale regional cuisine with a cosmopolitan flair. The menu takes diners on a culinary journey through Europe, featuring dishes like saltimbocca and braised beef roulade. Indulge in delectable desserts such as rhubarb creme brulee and organic Swiss cheeses served with fig mustard and fruit bread.
We were there last night for our anniversary. They had reserved a table for us with a wonderful view of the Rhine River. They offered us Proseco for our anniversary. It was a very kind gesture. The waiters were very attentive. We had a wonderful dinner. Thank you very much for making this a wonderful evening to remember.
Selay A — Google review
A larger indoor restaurant with additional outdoor space which is part of the Hyatt Mainz Hotel on the banks of the Rhine. Service is good, though the menu is limited in comparison to other nearby restaurants. Food quality was good but portions are small. There is nothing that makes this more expensive restaurant stand out from the many others nearby. This is a large hotel restaurant. Views of the Rhine are only really available from the outside terrace. The limited menu choice, premium pricing and small portion size reduce the appeal and my score.
Ian C — Google review
Stayed at the Hyatt Regency, and always look forward to the buffet breakfast here. Due to renovations, we were offered the choice to sit outside on the terrace... and it was beautiful. May I take the opportunity to commend the staff here. Friendly, attentive, and smiles all over. I really enjoyed my breakfast thanks to them. Dear manager, if you're looking - please commend your staff on duty for breakfast 12th August 2024 - especially the young man who took care of us on the terrace "Nick"
Successgm R — Google review
The food was ok but the service…first they brought us wrong order, then they spilled the salad, after that the other waiter spilled the food again and it got on my son’s shirt, they didn’t even apologise. Also when we ordered green tea they for some reason brought us ginger one and it was disgusting, but the rest of the food was good
Imane H — Google review
This exceed my expectations. Started with the sea bass ceviche with guacamole cream. The fish was well treated and balanced with the lemon and the combination with avocado was delicious. I am going to order this again. As the main dish I went for the filet with fries and seasoning vegetables. The filet was perfectly grilled and really tender. To the filet I was recommended a glass of a local Pinot noir which matched the food perfectly. This is the best restaurant I have been to in Mainz and should be on everyone’s bucket list.
Tor G — Google review
It's more like a US style restaurant with a few local dishes, instead of the other way around. I would hope to have more local foods to choose from.
Chih-Chieh C — Google review
With a few exceptions, my expectations for hotel restaurants are rather low. And I was all the more surprised by my experience at Bellpepper. Although the menu is based on classic hotel dishes, they are prepared extremely well with fresh ingredients in an open kitchen. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, and the hamburger left nothing to be desired. In addition, there is attentive service, which also gladly brings cocktails from the bar. Absolutely recommendable.
Dennis I — Google review
This is the official restaurant for the Hyatt hotel in Mainz. I would recommend going here for a special occasion with your friends and/or family when the weather is nice. They have very unique and special meals with unique ingredients and an interesting flavor palette. I actually ordered the GO GREEN menu, which was a 3 course vegan meal and delicious! Of course you must consider that the meals are a bit higher in price than a usual restaurant as it is a higher end place.

Restaurant
Kamin Flammkuchen Restaurant offers an array of thin-pastry flammkuchen, including sweet choices, in a rustic tavern featuring an open fire. This German eatery serves a wide variety of wood-fired flatbreads with various toppings such as different meats, apples, and cheeses. Vegetarian-friendly options are available on their menu as well. Although the wait time for food can be long, the quality and service make it worth it.
2025.05.20 - Very good Flammkuchen. Our first time trying it. "Flammkuchen is of French origin (from the Alsace region) and specialty. It is very pizza-like. Instead of tomato sauce, they use sour cream. The crust is extremely thin and crispy. The name came from the word flame as it used to be cooked on an open fire." We tried The Mainzer (potate slices, bacon dices, onions and raclette cheese and The Hot One (salami, onions, cheese, hot peppers). They were much bigger than we realized. Better to split one between 2 instead of 1 each.
Andy W — Google review
Unfortunately we had to wait roughly an hour for our food. When it did arrive we were not disappointed, however. Also the service made the wait quite doable. Great Flammkuchen and an interesting assortment of drinks. Recommended. Lots of options to choose from, many also vegetarian friendly. It's a nice, old-school-y vibe with a fire place in the center. Quite cozy and very German I would say.
Niklas S — Google review
Very cosy restaurant with solid food, Flambkuchen, like a different thin pizzas. Service a bit slow on a full restaurant but overall very pleasant!
Bojan B — Google review
This was a great experience. The Flammkuchen were amazing! I ask for a recommendation because there were so many good options. The server recommended the sampler from the appetizer menu. They have a variety of vegetarian as well as vegan options. The Mainzer was my favorite and I will be back for more. The service was great. The two girls did a fantastic job creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends or special occasions. Inside and outside seating available. Great spot for a snack and a cold beverage.
Nina M — Google review
Stupendous flammkuchen. Light and crispy, yet filling. They have English menus and the servers are very friendly. It was pretty busy so we couldn’t always get their attention, but they still checked in which was good. Stopped by on a Thursday night ~20:00 and it was packed, but we still got a table for 3. Only waited 5min for them to clean up a table. We walked in and were greeted by an enticing warm aroma from all the flammkuchen they were rolling out. Food didn’t take long to come out either. Try any of it, you won’t be disappointed. Catch of the day had a generous amount of salmon. Will definitely return! It’s a must try if you’re in the area.
Justine Y — Google review
The flammkuchen are so good! Also, the place is very cozy because they have a bonfire that gives a warm feeling to the restaurant. In addition, their artesanal beer is great.
Pol G — Google review
The Flammkuchen is excellent. I had the raclette one. It was amazing. The house beer and the aperitifs are also amazing.
Ben P — Google review
Service was slow, we had to attract a waitress' attention to get anything (even a table). I wouldn't say that they were overtly friendly.

Heiliggeist is a unique restaurant located in a former church hospital, offering a blend of history and delicious German cuisine. The venue features a vaulted interior with Gothic appeal and a courtyard terrace resembling a garden. Guests can savor seasonal dishes such as roasted pork knuckle, wiener schnitzel, fresh salads, soups, sausages, and an array of beer options. While the resonant hall may pose challenges for conversation indoors, the outdoor seating provides an enchanting atmosphere.
Heiliggeist in Mainz is an incredible place with a unique atmosphere. Located in a beautiful historic building, it combines impressive architecture with excellent food and great service. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional German dishes with a modern twist, and everything we tried was delicious. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal or celebrating something special, Heiliggeist is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommend!
Philipp — Google review
I would absolutely return to Heiliggeist! The setting was terrific, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The staff was very helpful, and remained patient with us even though our German is awful. Each waiter and waitress seamlessly switched the English which made things much easier. I got the Steak Frites and my wife had the Filet Mignon, both of which were cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauces complimented the meats quite well. We were never rushed, and were able to enjoy a fantastic evening. Eating at a former church whose history dates back to the 1200s was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!
Nate P — Google review
I had dinner at Heiliggeist on a Friday. Reservations were required. The staff speaks English and they offered an English menu. We tried the spundkas and wiener schnitzel with lingonberry (recommend by the waiter). I have no idea of the spundkas was authentic but we enjoyed it and it was served with a soft pretzel. This was my first wiener schnitzel and it was made with veal so incredibly tender. I liked it with the lingonberry jam - I think the acidity from the jam is needed otherwise it would be too heavy. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the waiter was friendly with us non-German speakers. The only thing we didn't like was that it took over an hour for us to get our food.
Vivian A — Google review
Great service and delicious food. The watermelon salad was the perfect starter as the schnitzel takes awhile to prepare but was well worth the wait. Staff spoke excellent English and humored by attempts at German
Jason Z — Google review
20250521 - Great food, venue and service. The inside is a high ceiling converted church hospital to restaurant. We sat outside to enjoy the outside evening air. I tried the traditional Wiener Schnitzel and was not disappointed. Very healthy portions. We also tried the tomato soup and pretzels with a dip. We finished with a crème brûlée and latte. The soup was ok. The pretzels were store bag pretzels and the dip was ok.
Andy W — Google review
Wonderful experience, great food, and a wide selection of drinks! Very interesting interior and history regarding the building.
Brian B — Google review
To our surprise we did not have a reservation and got a seat outside (saturday night) . The place was packed but they had tons of space outside. Service was good , nothing crazy . The food was very good , the truffle fries were to die for and also the tomato soup . Overall we enjoyed the place , good drinks and good food. The place itself is beautiful just to look at, so is very cool you get the chance to eat there . The only thing we did not understand is that in the menu it says the service is included and then when we got the bill we were asked for tip . I find it was a bit pricey so definitely visiting for special occasions.
Angela A — Google review
Amazing location and great food and wine selection. The interior is nicely designed and the staffs are nice however rather slow. If you are not in a hurry then thats not a problem! Otherwise a great place to visit with friends or colleagues for dinner!

Restaurant
Eisgrub-Bräu is a 19th-century venue turned informal gastropub that offers a hearty menu and on-site brewed beers. The former ice cellar now serves up three types of beer alongside gastropub-style dishes like schnitzel and spundekase. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying authentic cuisine with friends, family, or large groups.
Best pork knuckles in Germany!!! Strongly recommended! We have gone to the same restaurant for lunch three times in a row!!! Never done this before!
NZAURUSS — Google review
Great food and beers. Portions are huge. They also sell bottled beers that you have to use within 10 days. Luckily some of the waiters speak English otherwise I would have been completely lost. I think booking might be a good idea, the place is very big but very popular too.
Emilio M — Google review
The pork knuckle was giant and delicious. The house light beer was also good. It was nice sitting outside with the breeze. There were lots of flies though, so, if you don’t like insects, you may want to eat indoors.
Ben P — Google review
Called for a last minute reservation, they could not have been friendlier, found us a table on top floor (super cold Ac!) and amazing server, we had our beers in 5 minutes everyone was so friendly! Food we ordered schnitzel and added on mushroom sauce and red cabbage, and had brats and a salad everything was amazing, and huge portions. Highly recommend can’t wait to come back
RENEE F — Google review
Very good experience. The servers were super nice, made some recommendations and even allowed me to taste their ipa beer before ordering. The food was very tasty and the portions were quite big. Would really recommend it.
Carmen C — Google review
Very typical German place in Mainz. It was recommended to us. I liked it, the food, it is like a tavern, which makes it very typical. I ordered spätzle with meat and some sauce, very tasty. 😋 Some guests on the other tables ordered like a gigant bier tube, it was enormous. Pitty that I don’t like to drink alcohol, otherwise it would have been a whole experience to have tried that thing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Carmen A — Google review
No waiting time needed on a weekday evening. The place is actually quite big including seems like an underground floor. It gets more and more crowded as the night goes. Food did not take long to arrive. Portions were good in general. We ordered 2 pork knuckles for 6 persons and it still seemed too much. The seasoning for all dishes was not very salty and would not make you crave for water after every bite. The restaurant is pet-friendly as I saw a Lab was allowed to enter with the owners, which was very nice.
Kero C — Google review
The place has a great atmosphere—an original old pub. Beer is even better. The pork shank I had was not good. The more it cooled, the more it resembled dry wood. In the end, it was even very hard to chew. I managed to eat a third of it. I will come back for the beer and the atmosphere, maybe try something else to eat.

Steakhaus El Chico in Mainz is a delightful dining destination that captures the essence of Argentinian cuisine. This airy bar and grill boasts a charming outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying your meal al fresco. Guests can indulge in expertly prepared steaks, complemented by an array of flavorful sides and sauces. The menu caters to various tastes, offering not only hearty meat dishes but also healthy vegetarian options. Signature sides like baked potatoes with creamy fillings and crispy potato croquettes are must-tries!
I can't work out why there was a grumpy review about El Chico restaurant. We just had the finest Filet steak I've ever experienced and we have very good beef in Australia and many excellent steak restaurants A wonderful meal which couldn't be improved Malbec by the glass also good quality wine
Marshall S — Google review
The steaks were so delicious that with every bite we said, “We’re so glad we came!” The cooking was perfectly done, and the service was fast and friendly. • Finding a steakhouse like this in Main’d is such a great luck! Both the atmosphere and the taste are absolutely top-notch 👌

This was one of the best fillet steaks I have had, cooked perfect and great flavour. 500kg it was spot on! Highly recommend and hope to return, great service & food!
Chris R — Google review
A well done 200gr filler steak. Wow wow wow. Still very soft and juicy and slightly pink in the inside. The corn was sweet and delicious, the staff was very kind. Honestly a very good experience!!
Irini D — Google review
5star for the food and -1000stars for the Menu. This is not how a Menu should Look like in an almost expensive restaurant. At least using the SMS system in the Phone and making a screenshot and using it as Menu would look better and readable as what is in front of the customers called menu
Alex S — Google review
Amazing dinner...think it was the best steak of my life honestly. Got the 200g filet medium rare and the salad with the orange mustard vinaigrette. Like everyone else says definitely make a reservation. I was alone on a Friday night and called about 3hrs before and they were wonderful enough to get me a table but that was just luck I think. If you want an amazing steak dinner with friendly service in Mainz Steakhaus El Chico is your spot.
Katie M — Google review
My favorite restaurant for steak. Best in Mainz!! I always come here every times if I visit Mainz city. I cannot missed the steak here. The quality of the meat and the perfect cooking here made steak become juicy in perfect condition. I would like to try the pure beef then I only order the steak without any sauce or decoration. It’s perfect!! I suggest to book the seat in advance because this restaurant is always full. Otherwise you need to come during unusual dining time to get the seat. As I said, come here when you have visited Mainz is a must!!

The wine bar Weinhaus Michel in Mainz offers an exceptional experience with its amazing hospitality. The waiter, Philipp, is a remarkable individual who provides outstanding service. The atmosphere is enjoyable, especially the outdoor seating area. The establishment's focus on local specialties and their own produced wines adds to the overall charm of the place. The schnitzel and spundekas are particularly noteworthy dishes.
Great wine and excellent service. We felt cosy in this lovely place.

Horrible place, expecially let's say a main lady, seems to be there with no reason, no nice. I wanted to invite my friends there, but no way now. A restaurant - this word means not only food...
Cio Z — Google review
Weinhaus Michel in Mainz’s Altstadt offers quality wines at fair prices, excellent service, and an authentic atmosphere—perfect for a date or special night out. The menu features simple yet refined dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While the cuisine leans towards tradition rather than innovation, its execution is top-notch. The cozy yet lively setting adds to the charm, though peak hours can be bustling. Reservations are recommended. Overall, a great spot for wine lovers seeking a refined yet relaxed dining experience.
Christian P — Google review
I wish I could have given it a better rating. But unfortunately if you're not white, then expect to wait almost 40 minutes before anyone might come by your table to take your order. However they had amazing wine to try out. I wish though that we could have tried more but the waitress only came by once to take your order. And we had to leave after waiting for over 2 hours to order our second round.
Uday Y — Google review
I can't say anything about the food because I didn't have it. But the atmosphere and the alcohol was amazing. The staff was really friendly and the place is just really cute. One should visit at least for a drink.

Steins Traube in Mainz is a culinary gem that has been delighting guests since 1870. This restaurant, which has evolved through generations, recently underwent a significant renovation in 2019, enhancing its charm and ambiance. Known for its exceptional cuisine and creativity, Steins Traube offers an exquisite dining experience that leaves patrons raving about the superb quality of their meals. Guests have praised the attentive service and remarkable dishes, particularly highlighting the lamb as one of the best they've ever tasted.
Alice was a wonderful host but the food speaks louder than words ! Wonderfully delighted with such great taste in such a quaint location. It deserves a 3 star in my humble opinion. We had the duck confit (thinly crisp skin with such tender meat) and the beef fillet (what savory heavenly sauce) 😋much to rave about the duck fat butter as well - would drive 1000 miles just to taste that butter again!
Lynette L — Google review
We were there during white asparagus season and they really showcased the local dish beautifully. Did the smaller of the two tasting menus and every dish was delicious. Attentive but not overbearing service.
Kristin D — Google review
I had a wonderful lunch at Steins Traube. We did the light menu (menu legere) which came with 5 courses not including petit fours. The staff were very patient and kind with non-German speakers such as myself. We started the meal with non-alcoholic drinks and "snacks" (which overlapped with the starter of our menu). In our case, it was curried prawns covered with katifai. Then we had a burrata dish, a prawn dish, chicken, and dessert. All of the dishes were delicious and not too big or heavy which was fitting for the lighter tasting menu. We learned that the restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and the wife (Alina) served us some of our dishes and she was very friendly. Their kids were in the restaurant during our meal so it was cute to see them wandering around. Definitely recommend having a meal at Steins Traube.

What an experience! Tasty food, great service. We came for Xmas goose and it was definitely not a disappointment.
Meita K — Google review
What a beautiful evening at the currently most exciting restaurant in Rhineland Palatinate’s capital Mainz. The spot is located outside of the busy city center in Finthen where the Stein Family will welcome you to a fine dining experience that serves french and asian inspired modern cuisine. Philipp is the director in the kitchen and Julia oversees the excellent wine menu. What truly stood out was the attention to detail of every plate that we enjoyed in the 7 course menu - especially the langoustine course and tuna course were amazing. Julia and her team paired primarily local wines to every course - definitely go for the full wine pairing and come across some rare finds. 2 areas if improvement - the ambience could be improved by a more curated choice of music (sounded like a radio was playing) and secondly the super friendly service could serve the digestif directly at the table vs bring the already poured glass. Other than that an absolute must go to restaurant and worth the trip - we will be back.
Phil S — Google review
Very good service! The personnel was very attentive and nice. The food was superb! This was the best lamb we ever ate. Do not miss their petite four! Exquisite experience!
Madyx C — Google review
This is the perfect example of euphoric happenstance. We were looking for a nice place to eat, at the very last minute, for a adult group of 14 people, and Steins Traube just happened to be able to accommodate us. We did not know the restaurant in advance and all we had to go on, was online reviews. Our expectations, based on the reviews, were high, but also with acceptance that high online praise, doesn't always follow through. And when we walked to the restaurant (admittedly in the seasoned daylight still), we weren't sure if the restaurant was still there, as it is hard to spot from the street. It is indeed still there and what a tressure it is! Everything, and I do mean everything from food to wine list, and everything in between, is absolutely amazing. And it is amazing because everything on its own stands out but put together it becomes something more. You can have good food and nice wine, but the service might suffer, or vice versa, and it leaves a subpar impression, but when nothing falls short, it just stands out as a beacon of culinary awesomeness. The senior waiter, David, was jovial, intelligent, attentive, fast on his feet, a master of his craft, and simply awesome company. The sommelier, Maria, was a great match to David's presence, kind, and a very knowledgeable professional, who we felt very comfortable guiding us through the pretty impressive wine list. I didn't count them all, but I think easily +1000 wines. The two made for perfect company to a wonderful and humorous dining experience. They were more than ready for us, and it almost felt overwhelming at first, as we had a large, late lunch, but they quickly altered both the suggested menu and setup. We settled on a starter and a main course only, rather than a four-course meal with added appetizers. And although we changed the game at the last minute, the quality didn't suffer - it was simply put: Extraordinary. From presentation to quality and taste, everything worked. I find myself sometimes giving 4-stars to other restaurants for solid effort with minor faults, and I stand firm that getting a 5-star review from me, requires a top-tier experience beyond expectations. And it has been years since I been enjoying a restaurant experience this much. To a point, where I made it a point, to ask for the owner's attention and compliment her on what she has built. The expectation regarding the monetary aspect of an experience like this is, perhaps of course, that you can get everything you want if you are willing to pay for it. Sublime establishments often charge outrageous fees for their services, and it ruins the overall impression of the evening, if the balance isn't considering both guests and house. I was, in this regard, positively surprised as well. I hope this restaurant stays with us all for many more years to come. Steins Traube makes the Michelin Guide works proud. I will be back, hungry, thirsty and happy.

Steins Traube in Mainz: A Culinary Experience to Savor Located in the outskirts of Mainz, Steins Traube is a restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience. I had the pleasure of trying the Menu Prestige, which consisted of seven delectable dishes. The Amuse-Gueule, consisting of Gebackener Curry-Garnelencroustillant im Kataifiteig, was a perfect starter that set the tone for the evening. The crispy texture of the kataifi dough was balanced by the soft and succulent shrimp filling, infused with aromatic curry flavors. This was beautifully paired with a glass of champagne that further accentuated the flavors and the textures of the dish. Moving on to the second course, the Gateau von Elsässer Gänseleber, eingelegter Perigordtrüffel | Birne | Piemonteser Haselnuss | Brioche, showcased a combination of rich and earthy flavors that delighted the palate. The foie gras was silky and decadent, complemented by the sweetness of the pear and the crunch of the hazelnuts. However I found that the taste of the perigord truffle was a bit weak and lacked a bit of intensity. The icewine from 1984 was a perfect match for the dish, with its complex layers of sweetness and acidity. The third course, the Lauwarmer Kohlrabisalat, Zitrusmarinade | gebeizter Lachs | Imperialkaviar | Haferjoghurt | Dillöl, was a standout dish that impressed with its perfect balance of acidity and flavor. The citrus marinade added a tangy note to the dish, while the succulent salmon was perfectly complemented by the pearly caviar and the creamy haferjoghurt. The Riesling from Nierenstein was a great pairing, with its crisp and refreshing acidity that cut through the rich flavors of the dish. The fourth course, Jakobsmuschel in langem Pfeffer gebraten, Lila Spitzkohl | Rote Beete | Pistazie | Rohmilch Crème fraîche, was a highlight of the evening. The perfectly cooked scallop was juicy and succulent, enhanced by the bold flavors of the long pepper. The creamy crème fraîche added a richness to the dish, while the pistachios and vegetables added a crunch and a pop of color. The Sauvignon Blanc blend, specially crafted for the restaurant, was a great pairing that complemented the flavors of the dish. The fifth course, Bretonischer Knurrhahn, Krustentier-Safran-Sud | Bottarga | Artischocke | eingelegte Tomate | Calamaretti | Schwarzkümmel, was another standout dish that combined a variety of flavors and textures to great effect. The gurnard was perfectly cooked and paired well with the calamaretti, while the crustacean and saffron broth added a depth of flavor that elevated the dish. The restaurant's rose was a great match, with its light and refreshing character that complemented the seafood flavors. The sixth course, Variation vom Holsteiner Salzwiesenlamm, Rücken mit Pommery-Senfkruste, Gepökelte Lammzunge | gebackenes Lammbries | Zwiebelcreme | Speckbohne | Kartoffeltaler, was a high-quality dish that showcased the quality of the ingredients. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the Pommery-Senfkruste added a nice crunch and a touch of acidity. While the dish was high in quality, it lacked a bit of intensity in flavor. A more pronounced taste of the Zwiebelcreme would have elevated the dish to perfection. The dish was paired with a rich and full-bodied red wine, a Spätburgunder. The meal concluded with a dessert of Babybanane in Salzkaramellglasur with gebrannte Mandel, Limette, Kokos, Sorbet von Litschi, and getrocknete Ananas. The combination of the sweet banana and the tangy lime was a burst of flavor in the mouth, while the coconut added a tropical twist. The staff was outstanding, professional, and welcoming, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Steins Traube to anyone who appreciates German wines, especially those from the region, and to anyone who enjoys fine dining with high-quality ingredients. It was a truly wonderful evening!

If you're in the mood for a traditional German dining experience, Weinstube Hottum is a great choice. This cozy and quaint wine tavern offers a warm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening or gathering with friends. The menu features hearty and delicious German cuisine, complemented by a great selection of wines. The staff is known for being very friendly and the overall vibe of the restaurant is happy and welcoming.
We were so lucky to get a table! We didn’t have a reservation and were offered a 1 hour time limit which was totally fine. The atmosphere is so cozy with shared tables and lit candles and beautiful decor. We ordered a Riesling dry wine which was really good and I had the Weiner schnitzel with a potato cucumber salad that was excellent! My husband had the Frankfurter schnitzel with green sauce. Both meals were very delicious! Service was great! We appreciated getting in and was one of my best schnitzels of our 1 month trip! I loved the potato cucumber salad! A great alternative to fried potatoes! Reservations would be best as it is a small restaurant!

We had an absolutely unforgettable evening at Weinstube Hottum. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed like family. The host and owner personally helped us select a fantastic wine that paired perfectly with our meal, and every recommendation was spot-on. We tried the steak, the schnitzel, and the rump steak, and each dish was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and truly authentic. Sitting next to some of the host’s own family members made the experience even more special, adding to the warm and genuine atmosphere that you just can’t find everywhere. The combination of incredible food, thoughtfully chosen wine, and such heartfelt hospitality made the night one to remember. Weinstube Hottum is a gem in Mainz, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who wants an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

Great little wine bar in Mainz. We had the Schnitzel and rump steak. Both were excellent. My wife tried a local Riesling, which was very good. The service was excellent. The servers spoke English, so that was a plus. If you are in Mainz, I would highly recommend this place.

The place feels very local, they offer a great variety of food and wine. I had the schnitzel, which was amazing, and the brie(served in a way I’ve never seen before). Everything was really good, and I’ll definitely go back. As for the service, I’m not sure..maybe it’s just the German style, or maybe it’s because I’m a tourist in what seems to be a spot for locals only 😬but they didn’t seem particularly happy to see me. Not unfriendly, but definitely not the warmest

This wine bar is a beautiful place with a lovely rustic atmosphere, friendly staff, and good wine. However, if you want some water with your wine, be prepared to pay for it — they don’t serve tap water for free, even though the tap water in Mainz is excellent. For me, that’s always over the line. They told me it’s common in Germany, but just a short walk away at Weinstube Schreiner, they happily offer water for free. Personally, this is a deal-breaker — I don’t go back to places that charge for water. But if that doesn’t bother you, though, it’s still a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the very center of the old town.

La Gallerie in Mainz is a delightful culinary destination that offers Mediterranean cuisine infused with global influences. The restaurant features seasonal menus, including special asparagus dishes, all served in an artfully decorated space adorned with captivating prints. While the portions may be on the smaller side and require opting for a multi-course menu to feel satisfied, the quality of food is exceptional and meticulously crafted. Guests rave about the deliciousness of each dish, particularly highlighting their signature Angus steak as unforgettable.
This restaurant is a hidden gem in Mainz with really amazing food, very good service and centrally located. I will definitely come back.

Didn’t quite realise how precious this restaurant was, from the setting to the ambience - all round just fantastic. That being said, I can’t really say that the food was paired well to the price. I do believe, a little more thought into the flavouring could have done wonders. Maybe we were a bit unlucky. Nevertheless, would recommend in case you are in the mood for a romantic dinner.

Made a reservation for this restaurant on a precious holiday, called before to check if they had open, waiter confirmed that but did not give out any additional Information to Corona entrance regulations in their state. We live in Frankfurt and 2G is mandatory. Anyway, went on time to our reservation at the front door was no sign that the restaurant would only allow entry to 2G+. Once we got in, nobody greeted us at the entrance, only a little sign available to login to the Luca app, once we’re done with that we entered another door into the restaurant, the waitress greeted, we said that we made a reservation, we were seated. Meanwhile we felt uncomfortable by the other guests because they kept starring at us! After approximately 3-5 min the waitress arrived to our table and asked us if we were vaccinated which we confirmed with two doses. Unfortunately we were told by the waitress that 2G+ is mandatory in Mainz Rhineland Palatinate. I mean we could have blamed us for not informing us about the current rule in Mainz but who can still keep up with the overload of Corona changes each state does?!? We were shocked that they allowed to be seated in this restaurant after all. The waitress offered us to take a Antigentest for 3,50 € each but to take the test in their restroom. Question, does it make sense to require a Antigentest After-we’re already seated for 5 min in this example? We felt discomfort from the other guest who sat too close. Other guest didn’t stop starring at us after being blamed not knowing the rules. That was just too much for us, we’ve decided to leave that place immediately without a word! If you don’t feel comfort don’t spend your money! At the end the owner left us a nasty voicemail, by giving us the fault for not knowing the rules in Mainz. People like him and his team should know better! Admit that you did not follow proper rules by checking your guest right at the entrance! No Covid warning signs by the front door no nothing!

Amazing! Chef Carl has really made it his personal mission to showcase the best of Rheinhessen produce and what a great success it was - spectacular cooking that’s both refined and intense. Service was attentive and warm, which is nothing short of the miracle given the small team of three works both the kitchen and restaurant floor. The wine list is set to develop further but already features some of the best Germany offers without breaking the bank. Hope to be back soon.

What Carl Grünewald and his team conjure up on the plate appeals to all senses equally: eyes, nose and palate. This evening there were also wines from the double winery Kühling-Gillot (Bodenheim) and Battenfeld-Spanier (Hohen Sülzen), starting with 2014 Blanc de Blanc, through local and reserve wines (which, by the way, from our own bottle aging cellar), to the large vineyards of both wineries, ending with a Trockenbeerenauslese from 2011. Many thanks for the wonderful evening to the kitchen and service team, and of course also to Carolin Spanier. Even without a winemaking evening, the GenussWerkstatt is an absolute recommendation. Atmosphere is the best. With a great view over the Winterhafen, great for sunset, outdoor spaces and beautifully decorated and full of light. Food was globally good but way too expensive for the quality. At this price we expected a higher level and got disappointed. Mainly for the 14€ dessert we did not even finish.as.the rum cream was highly questionable and wasting the rest of the apple pie.

Do not recommend. The last visit to the place was far from good. And I actually found the restaurant rather underwhelming. The food was ok when we finally got it, but they made us wait for the order for more than an hour! There were no apologies or explanations till the issue was raised, and even after the head waiter came up, they worded the situation as if we were the ones to apologise. Neither the atmosphere in the restaurant nor the dishes can help the bad aftertaste of the experienced attitude.

A super location, we came spontaneous and got a place outside on a picnic table. Not full on a Sunday evening, gorgeous view. We also had wonderful weather. My husband had a typical local dish, "Hand Käse" and I ordered Tagliatelle. The food was disappointing, my pasta was rather strips of thick pancakes, and the other dish was a fast food version of the original. The price paid for the view and location. You would think that they could manage simple food, which wasn't the case. Good that we didn't attempt something more sophisticated. Still worth the experience...just keep your expectations low on the food.

A real Mexican diamond, just dropped in the middle of Mainz. What a delightful and tasty reunion with mexican food after a half-decade. The flavors were amazing, quality beyond high, and moreover, the staff were incredibly attentive. We had a bunch of different tastes—tacos, enchiladas, and fresh guacamole—and each dish was a triumph, leaving us all satisfied with what was on the table. I’m sure if you were to fly to Mexico City and land in "The Mexican Restaurant," you would get the same authentic taste and warmth, making it feel like a home away from home. Food was really good, seating was good, staff was awesome, parking garage for normal sized cars (ht is 1.8) is about a 3-5 minute walk (parking garage is just past the cinestar on the right coming from wiesbaden/mainz-kastel). Well worth it, I will be back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Elburó in Mainz is absolutely fantastic! 🌟 I love their Ice Matcha Latte with mango flavor – it’s refreshing, unique, and such a perfect twist. The chicken nachos were loaded, delicious, and full of flavor, definitely one of the best I’ve had. To top it all off, their Virgin Maracuja Colada was simply amazing – tropical, fresh, and the perfect non-alcoholic treat. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is super friendly, and I really enjoyed the Mexican music playing in the background – it gave such a nice vibe. One small suggestion: it would be great if the menu had photos of the dishes, it would make choosing even more fun and easier. Overall, an amazing experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommended! 🙌

Came here for dinner during a recent stay in the city, based on the high scores from other visitors. We were not disappointed. Super friendly staff who spoke great English and delicious food. Great atmosphere, it was quite busy when we went but service was good and food came quite quickly. Toilets were clean and the menu was huge, so much to choose from. I had the Aberdeen Angus fajitas, they were mega! Also had churros for dessert, very tasty.

Hofgut Laubenheimer Höhe is a family-friendly venue that offers regional cuisine. It provides a picturesque view of a vineyard and has an ice-skating rink during winter. From this vantage point, one can enjoy observing the city of Frankfurt in the distance. On clear days, the sky becomes adorned with intriguing airplane trails. The restaurant offers affordable prices and a diverse menu selection. Getting around the region requires cautious driving, but parking is not an issue.
Absolutely amazing view overlooking the vineyards of Laubenheim. We’ve been here several times and always had great service and food. Definitely recommend.

Nice evening spent. The complaint is that the toilet is too small, which is always crowded and very hot. The ventilation does not work, so consider an air-conditioned space with large toilet holders paper. Small rolls wear out quickly and the person working has to change them often.
Ale S — Google review
I enjoy on each visit. It is nice to watch the city of Frankfurt from such a distance and from above. When the weather is clear, the paths drawn by planes in the sky turn into interesting signs. The service, menu variety and prices were affordable. You need to drive slowly on the roads of the region. No parking problem.

The outdoor seating area is open for everyone who’s had the vaccine or has a negative COVID test. There’s not a lot of options on the menu right now, but the food is delicious. And the location is amazing overlooking the Rhine and some wine yards.

Am Holztor is a rustic tavern in Mainz that offers a wide range of delicious homestyle dishes, including schnitzel and steak. They also have an extensive wine list featuring carefully selected local wines. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and excellent service. It is always busy, so reservations are recommended. What sets this place apart is the genuine and caring nature of the owners, who ensure that every customer has a great experience.
The best place in Mainz hand down. Best food. Small menu. Best staff. Awesome old city decor. Can’t stress how awesome and nice the staff is here. All around good people. The great grandfather of the current building owner opened this place up in 1885. Think about that you little squirrel brain, this is old money , old history. Glad this place didn’t get leveled due to poor leadership in the 1930’s and 1940’s. We out here once again. Best spot. Best reviewer.

Dominick was our waiter and spoke perfect English. He welcomed us with open arms. The food was GREAT and the wine choices were plentiful. Our waiter recommended Kerner wine for me and it was amazing!!! This is a lovely, clean and wonderful restaurant. We enjoyed the 10 minute walk from our hotel on the river bank to the front door. We had our hotel concierge make reservations and we are happy we did as this was the best meal we have had in Germany!!
Sherri — Google review
The best place in Mainz. Food is amazing especially their curd, steak, and bratkartoffeln (pan fried potatoes), meticulously picked local wine selection, the atmosphere and even service was superb. Dominique was most kind, giving us explanation on food and culture here. His positive energy just shines! We'd definitely come back for another dinner here if we get a chance to visit Mainz. But be sure to book first!! The place is always packed and fully booked, which I can clearly see why.

Probably one of the best restaurants in Mainz serving good quality German dishes. The pepper schnitzel was delicious! Service is friendly and really makes you feel welcome.

Wonderful spot rich in history. Great and friendly service. Menu in German and English. Portions were generous. Veal wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked but still tasted very good. The potatoes were out of this world good. August 2022

Very friendly staff. Knowing we’re not from Germany, he explained how the dish “Meenzer Handkäs mit Musik“ got its name, and we had a good laugh. Our 2-year-old daughter’s drink was served with a straw without being asked. All the dishes we ordered were very delicious. Generous portion. Warm and relaxing atmosphere. It was exactly what we were looking for. If we ever make a trip back to Mainz, we definitely will come here again.
Alyssa W — Google review
Very long established neighbourhood wine restaurant with a variety of classic German cuisine updated to reflect modern dining preferences. Vegetarian choices including a veggie schnitzel either served with sauce or topped with tomatoes and grated melted cheese (my favourite, haven’t seen it served like this anywhere else in Mainz). Their house salad is fresh (with a choice of yogurt dressing or lightly sweet sour vinaigrette, and the home fried potatoes are perfectly cooked. I enjoyed it on their large front patio under the huge umbrella, with a ,2 l glass of halbtröcken rosé. Juice or wine spritzers, 4 beers on tap, and non-alcoholic beverages are available; but their extensive choices of locally produced wines with detailed flavour profiles described in the menu are what they are proudest to serve. They also have a back patio that lacks the experience of watching the world go by, and seeing people pass by as they walk their dogs. Prices are reasonable, and the staff are very friendly and caring. Everyone us made to feel very welcome. Seasonal specialties (in May the white asparagus ‘spargel’ is served with hollandaise or melted butter, and small portions of ham, rump steak or schnitzel; but no cream soup) are offered. Two desserts featured, apple rings with ice cream or warm chocolate cake. I found the main course too filling for either. Credit cards are accepted. Special events include a drag evening (that sells out early) and book readings by local authors. It’s a local gem off the beaten path of the large chain restaurants and pretentious bistros. Just a quiet oasis to enjoy great food and the company of friends.

Ristorante INCONTRO is a stylish trattoria located on a quiet street, offering elevated antipasti, pasta, and Italian mains. It has been nominated for the best Italian restaurant in the city. The attentive service and friendly atmosphere in the well-decorated dining rooms on Augustinerstrasse provide an authentic Italian experience. The menu features a variety of Mediterranean dishes such as shrimp risotto and Atlantic sea bass. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor area and an espresso bar.
One of the best meals we have enjoyed in Germany The waiters are either Italian or Italian trained and first class Our meals were delicious, nicely presented, generous sized and so tasty. Guinea fowl the best game bird I have ever eaten. My partner loved her Veal dish. Red wine by glass recommended was very good. Overall a wonderful dining experience

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. First of all, a very bad experience with the waiter this weekend, he was unpleasant and frowning at the very start. We didn't feel welcome. At the same time, the salad was not fresh and was quite bitter.. Instead of the waiter apologizing for that remark, he was very unpleasant and rudely responded to the remark.. It's a shame that an older man doesn't have a basic culture of behavior. I have never experienced that the staff of a restaurant does not greet guests when they leave, and here you can experience it... Never again in this restaurant!!!
Tijana N — Google review
Every time I come to Mainz over the last 15 years or more, I try to dine at Incontro, so I've been here at least 10 times. I've never not loved the food and the service. They have wonderful Italian dishes and fresh, yummy seafood. The waiters are always so friendly and fun, and I always see exchanges of happiness there, as the people that work there enjoy it and share their exuberance with the customers, who are sometimes Italian, too! The tables are somewhat close together, but they're made up beautiffly with nice white tablecloths and they have outdoor seating, too. I highly recommend and can honestly say that everyone I've ever taken there with me has loved it, too!!
Jill A — Google review
The best meal I’ve had in quite some time. Good seafood is difficult to find in Germany, but my boyfriend’s seared tuna steak with vegetables (€27.50) and my grilled seafood plate (don’t remember the price but it was worth it) were both fantastic. The staff was attentive, friendly and offered great wine pairings when asked. The Castello Svevo Bianco from Sicilians was a perfect white for my dinner. I highly recommend this place, you can’t go wrong. They were kind enough to bring me a menu in English and many of the staff spoke English. One waiter also spoke Spanish with my boyfriend, who is from Spain and doesn’t often get to converse in his own language in Germany. It was a true delight.

The food can be enjoyed conveniently as hand-held meals in a welcoming and familial atmosphere. Moreover, Im Herzen Afrikas also caters to both vegan and vegetarian preferences without compromising on taste or quality.
I love this place for African food. It’s so delicious and they have vegan and vegetarian options as well. The prices are very affordable and the staff is always friendly. During corona they had to close their seating temporarily so they opened up an additional kiosk for To-go/ takeaway food as well as desserts. If you’re walking around that area it’s a great place to grab a dessert and a drink. If you want to try African food I highly recommend this place.

I had the pleasure of dining at this unique African cuisine restaurant. The vibrant decor and lively music created a great atmosphere. The restaurant staff were not only proficient in English but also friendly. However, my experience was slightly marred when I felt a bit rushed while placing my order. I inadvertently selected only four items instead of the intended five, and unfortunately, the waiter didn't provide a heads-up. To my disappointment, the missing item was then replaced with the least expensive potatoes side dish available.

Awesome time. Make sure you have a reservation on a Friday night, by 630pm we we're put into a smaller side wall table. We had fun with and enjoyed the experience of everything. The food ,oh my, amazing flavor. We had the combo for two. The entire meal is eaten without utensils, be prepared to use your hands. Only come with people you would allow to double dip! Outside is very plan you may pass by without knowing your there. The door has a bell on the right side. You have to ring and be let in. Handwash stations are scattered about so you can clean up after you enjoy. Very casual and they have English menus, Staff will guide you.

Great food and service! Specially the sommelier had a great attitude and the wines served were perfectly paired
Carolina B — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with equally beautiful view. The service is classically oriented rather formal, but extremely attentive and friendly. The wine list is very extensive and offers a great selection of German and international wines. The sommelier is also happy to advise on the selection. There are three menus to choose from, one of which is vegetarian, which I very much appreciated. Nevertheless, two fish dishes came to the table as a greeting from the kitchen. However, the service reacted appropriately to this, apologized many times and hastily procured replacements from the kitchen. In this respect, I have nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the menu itself could not fully convince me. Although magnificently arranged, they were often rather boring in terms of composition and flavor. I am aware that vegetarian menus pose a challenge to top kitchens, and I am pleased that this challenge is being addressed. But the kitchen should perhaps take a little more time to develop the dishes.
Dennis I — Google review
Excellent food and service! It could be nice if they would put more effort into the music, like playing a nice calm playlist instead of playing the radio in the background. It was a bit weird and annoying. We would be happy to have some protein dishes in the vegetarian menu.

Absolutely fantastic evening. This is the 4th time I have dinned here, but the first time since Tobias Schmitt has been the chef. So it has been a while since my last visit. Before Tobias Schmitt, I had hit-and-miss experiences. However, our recent visit was charming. We did the four-course, and everything was perfectly crafted, from flavours to presentation. I had a hard time choosing what course because everything sounded great. The other stand-out part was the atmosphere, which was so comfortable and elegant. The staff were excellent and accommodating to our eight-year-old son, who was dining with us. I highly recommend this restaurant in Mainz and will be back soon.

Pizza restaurant
Ristorante Italiano Como Lario da Bruno is a contender for the best Italian restaurant in the city, located on Neubrunnenstrasse. Established by Bruno Bellini 60 years ago, it was the first foreign eatery in Mainz and even hosted Helmut Kohl. The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a delightful dining spot. The menu offers delectable options like soups, salads, and bruschetta as starters.
If I am asked to select one Italian restaurant in the world, no matter how many Michelin Star restaurants I have ever visited, I have no hesitation to pick Ristorante Como Lario da Bruno in Mainz. Even though it was weekday on 07 November 2019, the restaurant was full of local dressed-up guests (rather than casual tourists). It seemed to be formal but very famous for local people and without reservation, seemed to be no chance to experience and enjoy the wonderful dishes. When my family visited, the old man (Mr. Bruno Bellini) provided us with a small table and we could order various dishes. The old man was so kind to explain his signature dishes and how to try them. I hope that this review finds him, his family and all his kind colleagues well and safe against Coronavirus Pandemic! The reason why I leave the review even a year later, because I would not like to forget the name of restaurant and eventually the feeling I had with the formal staffs and top notch dishes, so that I could have chance to visit the restaurant one more time in my life.

60 years ago next year this restaurant opened. This restaurant is not for everyone I will admit. But if you want a time warp into a weird old school Quentin Terintino movie with amazing mafia style Italian food. This is the place. We are from North America and this totally reminded me of the old school Italian in New York. For those reviews that suggested the decor needs updating, shame on you. We had mussels with white wine sauce, minestrone soup and an Italian chop salad and all were excellent. Looking forward to returning to try the other Italian dishes.

With its homespun ambiance and outdoor seating, Oma Else provides a delightful dining experience reminiscent of dining at grandma's house.
Really nice staff and good food. I tried their authentic dish and it was great. Just let them Know your preferences, for example, for me it was too salty and only the sauce was breaking the saltiness (anyway, I would prefer much less salt). Everything else is perfect. Prices are average.

A wonderful mix of comfort food and great coffee! Lovely atmosphere and staff who treat you like family. Amazing local wine 🍷
NPJ — Google review
Visited Oma Else with high hopes, but the experience fell short. The food was disappointingly average — the asparagus was overcooked and lacked flavor, and the accompanying sauce was far too watery to add anything to the dish. To top it off, the tea was served in a glass with a sharp chip on the rim, which felt careless and unsafe. Service was polite, but overall not enough to make up for the underwhelming meal.

Nice small restaurant in the heart of Mainz. Wanted to come here for such a long time and finally did it. Food was really delicious. There is various kind of food: fish, meat, pasta, pizza. We had Porcini mushrooms as appetiser, homemade pasta and pizza for main course. Porcini mushrooms were amazing. However, service was average. Very slow and did not come during dinnner if we want one more drink even our glasses were empty for a long time. No eye contact with the customers. Just basic stuff, take order, bring food, bring bill etc. Such a sweet and cosy restaurant should have better service.

The porcini appetizer was very watery and not very tasty. The pistachio pasta was just salty. On the other hand, the white fish pasta was delicious, so I recommend it! If you go around 7pm, you will have to wait about an hour from ordering to getting your food. I recommend making a reservation right after the restaurant opens. The waitresses were very friendly :)

Jutta R — Google review
Hyped place with slightly above-average pasta that do not justify their artisanal claim, and not so great fish that tasted like defrosted by microwave. Small place, can be noisy with some bourgeois yakkers talking at high volume without a break for 2 hours. No truffle pasta in spring and summer time (why?), which leaves the rest of the menu rather uninteresting. Friendly waitress though. The guys in charge need to polish their cuisine and soft skills.

The scrambled tofu had dry taste of just curry, and nothing else. The Hummos was just mashed chickpeas with tahini, no lemon, no garlic, no olive oil and not even salt. The avocado was unfortunately also so dull and boring. My plate with or without it wouldn’t change a bit. The salad part of the dish was minimal too, had a good dressing tho. Service was kind :3 no complaints about that. And the tram that was passing by is just a mood killer. I know the place couldn’t do much about it but if you want to go there for outdoors time, keep that in mind. Maybe the cake would’ve been delicious (they looked dope) but I was so disappointed by then to try anything else.

Jedzenie nie smakowa. I would give 3,5 but can’t, and I would give it only cause of staff. There were adorable and helpful. Food was really basic, nothing new and kinda too expensive for that plate.

This is a very cute cafe in Mainz close to the city center. It’s always very lively inside and they offer daily specials in addition to what’s on the menu. They have a range of vegetarian and vegan options for breakfast and lunch and dinner as well as vegan dessert. The best part is they don’t charge extra for vegan milk alternatives. They clearly state that almost everything is made by the restaurant itself and ingredients like eggs or milk come from local farms in the region. The bread comes from bàckerei vetter in Mainz altstadt. The coffee beans are also from the Mainz kaffeerösterei amori coffee.

Very nice place to take a good breakfast/brunch. I had scrumbbled eggs and a yogurt, my friend had the jam and cheese plate and both were very delicious. Only "but" was that at the end the staff was so busy that did not appear again so we had to go to the bar to ask for another drink. But in general I liked the place, the staff was very friendly and the food was good. For sure I will come back.

Restaurant
The ambiance at Zum Goldstein is impressive, with a charming and stunning tree located in the center of the patio. The cuisine is exceptional, leaving patrons completely satisfied as they eagerly devour their plates. The service provided is top-notch, ensuring that every customer feels attended to and valued. Additionally, the prices are reasonable for the generous portions offered. To complement the meal, a bottle of wine recommended by the staff proved to be an excellent choice without any regrets.
Beautiful restaurant hidden in the old streets of Mainz! We came without reservations for Sunday lunch and had no problem securing a seat. The waitress was very proactive and brought us English menus by just observing us talking - very attentive and customer oriented service. Throughout the 3 hours we spent here she was pleasant, friendly, talkative, and explanatory and we felt like we were taken care of the whole time! The drink menu, especially the wine selection was quite large therefore I found a nice sweet wine to enjoy sipping throughout the afternoon. I also tried their home based aperitif made of rosemary, grapefruit and secco which was very tasty and I appreciated restaurants such as this that have their own signature drink. Food, typically German cuisine, was great as well. I had the beetroot salad with feta (originally with goat cheese but I was able to swap it without a blink of an eye) - a perfect appetizer on a hot day - and the roast beef with potatoes and onion as main dish was tender and tasty, however quite a large portion. I also very much enjoyed the layout of the beer garden - very cozy, with a great vibe and surrounded by huge horse chestnut trees. That proved to be the perfect location to eat and relax on a hot summer day! It is located in a quiet neighborhood offering a tranquil environment. Paid by card. Visited in July 2022.

Atmosphere on point. It’s got a very nice and beautiful tree in the middle of the patio! Food was amazing! Wiped out the entire plate. Service was great! Prices were very reasonable and huge portions. We also ordered a bottle of wine that they recommended and no regrets there. A absolutely enjoyed it! **always remember to make a reservation! They’re always fully booked.**

Lovely outdoor dining area and amazing food make this a great place for traditional German dinner in Mainz. The food is made to order so may take a little longer to be delivered but, well worth the wait 😋 Reservations highly recommended.

Popped in for dinner on a busy evening. The waitress managed to get us a table as there were some people leaving. The food is traditionally German. The portions were large and the food tasted delicious. Service was excellent our waitress was attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a meal in Mainz.

In my opinion quality of the food is overrated to start with. We were a group of 5 people and the waiter forgot my order. I had to wait another 20 minutes before being served. Mistakes happen and it's not a big deal, but at least have the courtesy to apologize to me directly instead of my male colleague! Didn't offer any type of compensation either.

Make reservations. Very popular with limited tables to preserve the atmosphere. One of top 10 local restaurants is Mainz. Typical German menu with solid flavor, quality, and atmosphere. Easy street parking. Opens early for dinner. Great weekly specials. Speak English and have English menus

Japanese restaurant
Located in the heart of Wiesbaden, MoschMosch is a popular restaurant offering a journey into the world of Japanese and Asian cuisine. Guests can indulge in delicious sushi creations, vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as a variety of healthy options. The inviting ambiance invites visitors to linger while exploring the diverse beverage selection. Situated at the Vier Jahreszeiten complex on Wilhelmstrasse, MoschMosch offers a range of ramen variations at its Japanese noodle bar chain.
I had a great dinner at MoschMosch last month. It’s one of my cousins favorite restaurants and she insisted we try it while in the area. The service was good, the food came quickly and had great flavor. I ordered the veggie fried rice and the Beck’s Lemon Brew, which I highly recommend, it has become a new favorite of mine. Well priced and delicious, would definitely come back again.

Delicious food, friendly service but a bit unattended. They also often seemed to be standing around in front of the kitchen chatting. One other minor criticism: the edamame had significantly too much salt on top and no salt at all on the bottom. But that's just a minor oversight in the preparation. Very appealing ambience!
Michel C — Google review
The environment and the service is perfect. We ordered the vegan red curry with rice and the miso spicy noodle. The noodle has some room of improvement. Soup: There is only spicy flavor. feels like lack of salt. The miso taste is also not strong enough. Noodles: no soup flavor, the texture is not chewy enough. If it is made by hand, maybe the problem is the kneading process. The chicken is not from a good part of the checken, much skin and so on. Just personal opinion as I don’t like skin. But it is just one noodle so maybe other noodles taste better.

Pleasantly surprised by the whole experience at MoschMosch in Mainz. It was quite full on a Sunday at lunch time and we waited a bit until we got served, but the food tasted pretty good. Due to a misunderstanding, I received a totally wrong order, but this was corrected in no time.

I ordered a noodle soup with vegetables and some chicken. I couln't eat the meat and left it. Was a bit in a hurry. Environment good, atmosphere good, a good name... I expected much better. Will not go there a 2nd time. It's convenient because it's for city people.

Our first visit there. The menu was super presented, and the selection quite sufficient. Service was friendly. The ambiance did not completely convince us, but felt open and kind of neat. The food was hot and tasted great. So far, so good. I guess, what really bothered us, is the fact that the prices are quite up there; and ingredients like any meats, or vegan alternatives have to be ordered separately and added at an extra price. That really irritated me, especially with the type of food being offered at this restaurant. We ended up paying more than 52,-- € for 2 persons for 2 small appetizers, main entrée and a water as well as a soda pop. Honestly, even in a city like Mainz, we should not have to spend quite that much or, if I pay a higher amount, please at least include meat or the vegan alternatives in the entrée's price.

Whether you're indulging in classic favorites like Pad Thai or savoring the rich flavors of Tom Yum Goong, each dish promises a culinary adventure.
The one of the best authentic thailand food restaurant in germany. I found this resto from google when i was in mainz. The place so cozy full with bamboo interior, the wall, the decorations as well. The food price so good no expensive but the taste is rich. I order pad thai, Somtam, tomyam goong, gaeng phed goong, panang tofu popia phak and the dessert gluay thord ( fried banana) all of them so delicious. The homemade ice tee milch and lemon so fresh. Recommended to back again when go to mainz next time.

Hamburger restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Mainz, Stadtbalkon is a vibrant hotspot that promises an unforgettable experience. This grill restaurant offers a delightful array of culinary options, from juicy burgers and grilled pizzas to succulent steaks and even vegan dishes. Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing beer or an exquisite wine, their extensive drink menu caters to every palate.
We visited the restaurant quite spontaneously for an early dinner with two small children. The service was very friendly towards our family and they even offered some paper and pens to keep the children busy. The restaurant is in the first floor and the attraction is the small balcony with a couple of tables with blick to the city teather and square. The food was delicious we ordered from the seasonal small menu, the salmon was perfect, juicy and good seasoned, the “Bratkartoffel” were beyond delicious, I don’t remember when was the last time that potatoes tasted so good! And the sauce hollandaise paired with the asparagus was perfect! We will definitely get back!

I’ve visited this restaurant twice, primarily for their excellent spare ribs. During my first visit on a late Saturday lunch, the noise level was quite high due to the restaurant being fully occupied. This aspect could perhaps be improved. However, my second experience was much more pleasant with a half-full dining area. I anticipate that dining on their balcony during the summer would be a delightful experience.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The waiters were rude and showed no interest in the guests — even while ordering, they acted as if we were disturbing them. The place was extremely noisy, making it almost impossible to have a normal conversation or enjoy the evening. There was no sense of hospitality or helpfulness during the service. Our table wasn’t properly attended, and when we asked questions about the menu, the staff responded dismissively. For a place that looks nice from the outside, the service quality was surprisingly poor. The food was acceptable, but the overall atmosphere and staff attitude completely ruined the experience. Definitely not recommended.
Muhacir — Google review
We stopped in for our first meal in Mainz. Had a very good lunch and drinks. We arrived just before noon, which seems early by german standards, and were seated immediately. The crowd definitely grew while we were there, so maybe early is better. The ribs were excellent. We came here from the southern US and understand Southern BBQ very well. The ribs were good enough that we'd return just for them. The sauce was perhaps a bit sweet for our taste and I'd have wanted a little more heat, but that's nitpicking and is an individual taste not objective fact. It's in the same general taste as many very popular sweet BBQ sauces in America. The rib consistency was spot on. Tender and hanging onto the bone just enough to manage. The chicken "burger" that I ordered was likewise excellent. The chicken was marinated and flavorful. This is unique in our experience in Germany, where most meats are "underseasoned" to our American tastes. Also, any pattie shape on a bun can be called "burger" here, regardless of meat type or method of preparation. A fried chicken sandwich can be called a burger. This one was grilled, and again was very good. The bacon and cheese represented well, and the bun was fresh and delicious. We both had fries as a side and they were light and crispy, just as they should be. We have noticed that fries are generally better here, we've never had a mushy, undercooked fry. I had a fruity drink (strawberry colada) and my wife had a hot chocolate. Both were very good. Management was not visible at the front of the house, but the waitstaff was adequate coverage and we did not need management for anything. Also, they were in the process of a photoshoot of their menu, so they may have been preoccupied with making that happen. Service was attentive and responsive. Our waitress was polite and spoke better English than we do German. We managed quite nicely, and she did not seem put out by accommodating us.
Gary T — Google review
This restaurant is known for its nice views, especially if you sit outside on the balcony. They offer a variety of meals including vegan burgers and a vegan bowl with beyond meat. It would have been nice if they offered a basic vegan cheese burger but instead you had to choose from these combinations. Also, I somehow expected more out of the bowl after reading the description. Nevertheless, the staff was very friendly and you can pay with a card or cash. Also, the prices were fair compared to other places offering similar meals.

A beautiful place in Mainz. The food was delicious n even the burger was really tasty. Everything was very good. But there was one thing I have to talk about you. The service. We where sitting outside, it was not that cold that u have to let us wait that long for another round to order…I mean: u wanna make money or ? So come around. Don’t think that u r getting on our nervs…ask one more time instead of no more time…but everything else was fine. Check the view. Great place to stay even longer n drink a cafe.
Johnny R — Google review
We were at the restaurant yesterday for a special occasion and the waitress who took our order FORGOT!!! We were waiting for more than half an hour JUST FOR DRINKS. Then the second waitress who we talked to simply told us "Oh, my colleague forgot" and asked us what we had ordered. NO APOLOGIES and no drinks for another 10/15 minutes. When I got really annoyed and talked to another waitress (I wanted to talk to the manager, but was told "oh he/she may not be there") and expressed how unacceptable it was, FINALLY the second waitress came over and apologized and asked us if we wanted any tea/coffee on the house which we obviously declined. NO SIGN of the first waitress who actually messed up. I have worked in customer service as well and when you mess up, you APOLOGIZE! We had a TERRIBLE time because of this incident which really ruined the special occasion we went for. A very disappointing experience at this popular restaurant. DO NOT GO to this restaurant for the service!

I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this restaurant, it was perfect for what I wanted. I was accepted without a reservation and the place seems popular with the locals. Food was prepared fast, portion sizes appealing and everything tasted great. Unfortunately I was caught out by surprise as this restaurant cannot accept credit cards foreign or domestic. They only accept domestic debit cards not even foreign debit cards. I was forced to go and withdraw cash to pay for this meal. I had heard stories about this occurring in Germany, but it had never affected me since I've travelled widely within Germany and I've always been able to pay with credit cards so this was a surprise. Nevertheless I'm not gonna let this ruin my experience and I would gladly come back to this restaurant again. If you are a foreigner consider this restaurant cash only.

Schrebergarten, located in Mainz's Neustadt area, is a popular spot known for its light and healthy fare. The colorful and minimalistic interior creates a friendly and tranquil atmosphere. The menu features mostly soups, salads, specialty drinks, and loaded baked potatoes. One of the highlights is the vegan 'Veganistan,' a large oven-baked potato with lentil salad, carrot salad, red cabbage, mango-peanut curry sauce, and rosemary walnuts.
Schrebergarten is one of my favorite places to eat out in Mainz with a cozy atmosphere. Their Kumpirs are always freshly prepared, very delicious and there are many vegan options. What I also love about this place, is that they regularly come up with new variations. When the weather is nice, you can sit in their outdoor area with a view to the Gartenfeldplatz. Although the walking distance to the Mainstation is 5 minutes, it is pleasantly quiet here.

A very cozy, family-friendly, delicious vegetarian stuffed potato restaurant (this coming from a meat-lover). Has very fair prices on food; not so much on beverages (you're in Germany, after all). The potatoes are big enough for you to take a while to finish them, if you manage to - neither me nor my friend could, but both tasted superb. All the employees were also really neat and friendly. The tikka masala tastes like styrofoam in a lightly tomato sauce which is very blunt... The red beets are from a can and the lentil salad is blunt as well... Well the green stuff was at least a bit more flavored... No recommendation from my side when you order the tikka masala bowl. Maybe the junior would have been the better choice...

After a delightful afternoon wandering through the enchanting Christmas markets, I found myself dining at Weinhaus Wilhelmi, a charming wine tavern nestled in Mainz. Renowned for its cozy and rustic ambiance, this establishment has been a beloved fixture in the city for over a century.
It was a very nice place. The food was marvelous, and the desserts were also great. If you have the chance, order the tiramisu—it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and managed to find a table for us, even though it was a crowded and busy evening.

This restaurant was very homey, from the outside it looked small but it actually had 3 floors and was quite busy for a Monday. Schnitzel and potatoes were amazing but priced at 23 euros. I wanted to try the palatinate delicacy saumagen though tasted like regular sausage to me (still worth trying though if you're in mainz) . Reisling Wine was sweet and lovely. Great dinner but a bit pricey

Giving it 5 Stars for the service and experience of dining there. Visited on a Saturday evening during February carnival. Lots of locals in interest costumes from the 17th & 18th century. In terms of food: schnitzel (average portion size, but good taste) & salad (generous size, with meat). Both on the high end of the cost range though... Staff speak English and are friendly. Apparently the place has a long tradition for carnival activities and a mini museum on the first floor, which was interesting.

Food was not satisfactory especially given the price. In addition, they charge extras like salad or potatoes additionally. The price for a steak is for meat only, beware. Not recommended.

We came here with 5 guys on a Saturday evening at 6pm ahead of the crowd. One meal came with the sides of another. After that they managed to forget one meal and did not even care. Just after mentioning they tried to fix, but didn’t deliver before everyone finished on the table while bringing the same dish to other tables. Overall an unpleasant experience for the prices they charge. We are from the region and would never come back. I can not recommend to people visiting from far away.

It's cosy, charming, warm and has murals on the walls. The menu is amazing and I regret that I came after dinner just for a glass of wine. Looking forward to coming here again.

Wine bar
Nestled in the charming Badergasse of Mainz, Weinhaus Bluhm is a delightful father-daughter establishment run by Murielle and Pierre Stadelmann. This cozy wine house embodies the essence of Alsatian culture, offering a unique blend of restaurant and wine bar experiences. Murielle, known as Mainz's only singing chef with formal training, infuses her culinary creations with vibrant herbs and spices that elevate each dish to new heights.
Tucked away in the heart of Mainz, Weinhaus Bluhm is a place where tradition and artistry meet on the plate. Housed in a centuries-old half-timbered building, the atmosphere immediately sets the tone for what follows: warm, authentic, and full of charm. The food is outstanding, both in flavor and presentation. Classics like the cassoulet with confit duck leg arrive hearty yet elegant, the meat melting into a rich, slow-cooked sauce that feels at once rustic and refined. The hackbraten, served over velvety mashed potatoes and finished with a glossy Burgundian sauce, showcases the kitchen’s talent for turning familiar dishes into something extraordinary. What makes the experience truly memorable, though, is the staff bringing a personal warmth that’s rare in dining today. Service is not only attentive but infused with genuine hospitality, you feel like a welcomed guest in their home rather than a customer in a restaurant. Weinhaus Bluhm is more than a meal, it’s an experience of flavors, friendship, and tradition. A must visit in Mainz for anyone who values food prepared with heart and served with soul.

We got this winehaus advised by somebody working in a wine store in town. Reviews made it look like good cuisine. The restaurant is small but cozy and without a reservation we were welcome. We choose the 3 course menu and asked for wine pairing with the food. This wasn't possible. (A chance your missing I guess when having a restaurant in a wine area and when you are called a winehaus). So we asked what good wines they have. The waiter suggested the Sauvignon Blanc because everybody likes it according to him. He could have asked our preference.. but that serving doesn't gets too much attention here showed when the waiters would never explain what was on our plates. Only an "enjoy". The starter of fish was nice. The maindish Hacktbraten was oke but too salty to both our taste. For dessert I had the cheese and my partner had the sweet dessert. Again it was fine, although when I asked which cheeses were on my plate and told them to explain me in German, the waiter couldn't recall them all. We enjoyed the coffee with the brownie a lot. It was almost the best part! Not bad food at all but people make it look like this place is fine dining and with that in mind we expected more. The dishes look fancy and cool but are not super special. By the way there was even salt and pepper on my pieces of cheese!! Cheese is salty enough guys!

One of my favorite wine bars in Mainz. Limited choices on the menu - but due to the dishes all being freshly prepared. Good advices on the rich selection of local wines.

Booked 12 days in advance for Martin's Goose, left our cell number. When we got there no goose and only 4 main meals on the menu including snails and fish soup. Service was not good. I waited 15 minutes longer than the rest for my wine. I won't be going back.

Geberts Weinstuben is a sophisticated dining spot located in Neustadter Frauenlobstrasse, Mainz. The restaurant, led by Frank Gebert, offers a modern culinary experience rooted in Mainzer tradition. Their menu features dishes such as wild and beef, as well as vegetarian options like risotto. Additionally, they boast an extensive selection of wines primarily sourced from vineyards in Rheinland-Pfalz.
One of my favorite restaurants in Mainz. Entrees are tasty and the service is good, but dessert is the true highlight. The crème brûlée is fantastic... nothing fancy, but executed perfectly. The best crème brûlée I've ever had. They pair it with fruit and ice cream or sorbet which makes the dessert a good value for the price. The menu changes regularly, but some past highlights include beef pot pie (with the crunchiest crust you've ever heard) and pumpkin soup. If you're American, stay away from the apple red cabbage, as it tastes disconcertingly like apple pie. Not bad, but too weird for me to eat. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Mainz. They have nice classic French dishes, friendly and warm staff ( senior ladies), good wine list with reasonable prices. We had dinner during Easter Sunday. We managed to get a table by calling the phone number, using my basic A1 German language as the lady does not speak English, but she was very accommodating and hospitable.

This is really a hidden spot in Mainz.... you will not find a tourist here... they don’t know that this lovely place exists! Have a look at my pictures... food is excellent! The wine list is outstanding... and the interior design is... highly unique! You will not find another place in Mainz to get more for your money!

Came here for a birthday dinner. First off we got welcomed by the staff glaring at our dog. Got seated at a table where not even 3mins after we were asked what we want and pushed into getting multiple courses and wine. We declined and just ordered the main meals and i got the soup too. The soup was actually really good and i do recommend it. The main dish on the other hand....yeah really bad. The meat barely had any flavour, was very veiny and bled all over the plate, the taste of blood still lingers in our mouths. The cabbage was bland just like the rest of the plate honestly. When we were asked if we liked it we told them how no, we didn't, of course we got greeted by glares and no apology or word of a compensation which is usually custom to do. We paid a decent amount of money for a meal that wasn't worth half as much. Other things to point out: 1. Our dog wasn't allowed to drink in the restaurant, we got told there's a water bowl in the courtyard. How shameless 2. From the looks of it the young waitresses don't get any tips, the older ladies are always the ones who handle the bill which is also shameless, never seen before Conclusion. Not worth it. The soup was good but that's about it.

Traditional and elegant decor. Service is paced but very good and amicable in a classic German way. Can find traditional and seasonal dishes. Run by a matron who likes to ask if you’re enjoying the experience. She doesn’t speak English but there’s Google translate nowadays. Coming from LA i thought the price was great for the quality and experience but then anything comparable in LA would’ve cost me 2-3x after taxes and tip.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for foods and drinks ⭐️⭐️ for service We love the food. I ordered Rib Eye Steak and I love it! One of the best steaks- for that price range - I ever had. The drink was okay, I ordered Daiquiri, it's like a Slurpee so be aware of brain freeze. I like the range of offers that they give. I called and they said they have a place but only until 8 PM. Fine, we arrived at 6:40 so it's alright. Everything came fast from the entrée, drinks, and main dish. Everything went well, from the call until ordering the food - the young waitresses are friendly (the girl with the mask, the young guy, and a girl with braided hair) up until when I asked to bring a cake to our table cause it's my friend's birthday. But the senior waitress was so grumpy. It's like I am asking her for money when in fact I'm there to spend money. (we spent around 160 EUR++ and 7€ tips at the end). While almost finished the lady who was rude to me came to our table and wanted to take my friend's plate while he and we were still eating (time 7:45 PM) and we said no. The icing on the cake is when the birthday cake (lava brownie decorated with heavy cream) came at 7:50 PM, we ate quickly, and at 8:05 cause I checked the time the same lady came and "remind" us in German with a straight face and unfriendly intonation "you know that your time is only until 8:05, right?". THAT WAS. It's not like we've been reminded 2 or 3 times and didn't listen, but that was the first "reminder". We got up, paid, and still gave tips -considering the service of the cook and the other waitresses-. Why only 3 stars, I think she can remind us of the time without being mean :) That's all for today. Have a good evening.

We went here for dinner and some drinks. They have a large cocktail menu with and without alcohol, and they offer a Happy Hour during which cocktails cost €8. We made a reservation, but I think it wasn’t necessary on a Thursday evening. The food was delicious! The beef (of the foto) was tender, juicy and flavorful! Just be aware that the tomato sauce on this particular dish (perhaps 62 on the menu?, not sure) was a bit spicy, even though it wasn’t labeled as such; so for someone very sensitive to spice, it might be wise to ask about the level of spiciness. We sat outside on the terrace, which had a nice atmosphere.
Sofia L — Google review
Good place for cocktails and food as well. The prices are very good. I have tried the steak that was very good quality meat, and different “rodandos”. These ones are like big burritos but fried finished. All the food in general is very good quality. And pricewise is good too. During summer time it has a terrace but the interior is very cozy.

A hidden Caribbean gem in Mainz Germany. This was the first cuban restaurant in Europe that didn't disappointed me. The name, you guess it is from Santiago de Cuba (The city. They serve great Cuban dishes down to the cocktails. The ambiance and everything took me back to when I used to live in Cuba and little Havana U.S. The staff super friendly and if you are a native English speaker well they speak perfect English here too. I highly recommend this place for those of you looking for something to eat to diversify your palate. It's recommend to make a reservation even if you are a solo traveler as it gets really busy.

Decided to try this place out at the recommendation from some hotel staff. We went and were not disappointed. I read some earlier reviews about the staff being not to helpful...we got the exact opposite experience. Sat at the bar and the bartender was super awesome, attentive and on the money with her drink recs and dinner suggestion. All the cocktails were fresh and they had some different takes on a lot of classics. Very delicious! Dinner... what can I say other than I dreamed about it that night because it was so good. Had something grilled and with some tasty cheese sauce. Nom!! Highly recommend going here if you stay in Mainz.

Came at 9 pm on Tuesday night and the restaurant was fairly empty, only two tables occupied, however we waited for our food for 1 hour! The restaurant is nice inside, very cozy and homey. I enjoyed their menu as it was very nicely done from a design perspective but also what was inside. I haven’t seen for a long time an Indian restaurant that offers cocktails and a selection of wine. Selection of food was excellent. We opted for dhal, lamb tikka and korma curry. The best was the lamb and it was tender, juicy and overall well done. Dhal needed a bit more herbs and lemon juice, but was decent. Korma curry was sweet as expected, but nice. Rice was done perfectly! However the portions were really small for what we have paid, literally 5 pieces of meat in every dish, not enough to share with friends for example. My masala tea was “German” spicy meaning there could have been more done as I was missing the taste of cardamom and other herbal ingredients. Alcoholic cocktails were good, nothing extraordinary. Overall good experience, but the length of waiting for food along with smaller portions could be improved! Payment with a card was not an issue. Visited in May 2022.

Food was decent but it was definitely on the expensive side. Meal for 2 would be 50€ approx. Our order: Vegetable biryani and Butter Naan was good. Paneer tikka masala was decent but oily . Pina Colada was excellent 👌 Service was not satisfactory, as there was miscommunication with the order placed. (I wanted to ask if Raitha was included with the biriyani we had ordered. The food has been praised as extremely comforting and generous, with dishes like rice accompanied by different flavorful options. They also offer Baqlawa as a delicious dessert choice.
One of the best Arabic food in Mainz, everything here delicious. It gets too crowded all the time because it’s not really organized. They should have someone taking orders only and others preparation food. This can help organize the place and help customers easily and smoothly. Food here is the best, we had Shawarma sandwich and I was really surprised how good it was. Also had rice with Kofta and Magali.

The older gentlemen preparing my food was grumpy beyond measures. I ordered small tea, they only have large mugs, so I was charged large - fine. Showarma in pita was actually 90% pickled cabbage with a touch of chicken, a slice of onion and a single piece of tomatoes. 4.5€ is very little to pay, but I would really prefer to pay more and get less cabbage. I also ordered mixed cold dishes, humus and baba ganoush, and these two vere delicious and finally up to fame of the place. I liked the atmosphere, most ppl around looked like regulars.

I had good experience here. I ordered paneer tikka and the unusual way of serving this dish was with a blaze of fire. This was amazing! The food tasted good and service was phenomenal! Totally recommend it!

We were flying to the United States so instead of looking for any options in Frankfurt, we took a train to Mainz and since this place was at 10-12 minutes distance from the train station, I decided to give it a try. I would say it’s a decent place but some dishes were not good at all. For example we tried some appetizers (pakoras and murgh pakora) and felt like it was not cooked properly and too dry. In the curries, the Paneer Masala was good but the Karahi Murgh was tasteless and only small amount of curry and chicken pieces. They even charged extra for lime/lemon which does not happen in any Indian restaurants all over the world (I have been to 18 countries and reviews each place personally). Overall, I felt like a very pricy place for the quantity they provide. The water bottle was priced at whopping 6.90 Euros which is very rare as I tried many Indian and non-Indian restaurants all over Germany during my 3 separate visits. Anyway, felt like I should provide my honest opinion.

We ordered tomato soup, chicken shorba soup, keema samosa, chicken tikka masala and naan. Loved everything other than the sweet chicken tikka masala which could have served as an ideal dessert, however after asking to make it a little spicy, we were regretting the decision even more. The naan was too good and also the soups and samosas. One waiter was very cordial, while the other one was such a pain……..

A very satisfactory Indian dining experience - ordered Mango Lassi, Mutton Kheema Nan, and Chicken Biriyani - and we were positively shocked at the speed with which we got the food. The mango lassi was so good we ordered one more. The complementary papad with mango sauce, mint chutney and achar was a nice touch. The biriyani had great flavours and huge quantity (ended up packing some), and the Nan was freshly prepared and soft. The price-performance is also top notch. There was a very good parking garage nearby as well (~2 euros for 2 hours). Definitely worth a return visit.
Pradyoth J — Google review
I visited this restaurant about a year ago and had a pleasant experience overall. The service was attentive and courteous, which made the visit comfortable. The ambience is quite striking—it has a royal and elegant touch that creates a nice dining atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed meal. When it came to the food, I ordered two different gravies. Both were flavorful, though I felt they tasted quite similar, with a creamy texture and a blend of Indian spices. The richness of the gravies stood out, but a little more variety in flavor would have made the dishes more distinctive. One thing that caught my attention was the diverse crowd—there were a lot of German guests, which suggests that the restaurant is popular among both locals and international visitors. Overall, it’s a nice place to enjoy Indian food in a refined setting, especially if you like creamy, spice-rich curries.

Takeout Restaurant
Pizza Hut is a well-known chain that offers a delightful array of pizzas, wings, pasta, and tempting sides and desserts. Whether you're looking to dine in, carry out, or enjoy delivery after a long day of exploring the city, Pizza Hut provides a reliable option for satisfying your cravings. While some recent experiences have highlighted issues with service consistency and payment methods—particularly regarding credit card acceptance—the overall food quality remains commendable.
Food was good. But the service staff was inexperienced as we have been coming here for last 6 yrs but now the staff is poor. They forget what you order then you have to wait extra.plus now they only accept EC card , no credit card which is the big issue for foreigners.its an international brand I don’t know why they don’t accept credit cards.they even changed the waiters. The old staff was so quick and extraordinary but now very very lazy and absent mind ppl.i guess I wouldn’t come again .and there was stinking smell of sewerage . It was not before.all these things were not before but now it has changed I guess because of the new ownership

Pizza Hut finally offers a few vegan pizzas on their menu so we went to try them. They were pretty good. We tried the Smokey BBQ and the Vegan Chikn and Cheese. I personally would have expected more vegan chicken in the pizza because there were only a few pieces. The staff was very friendly but I just don’t think the price is worth it - for two pizzas, garlic bread and two drinks we paid over 60 euros. I have gotten vegan pizzas just as good for less.

A pretty nice experience and good pizza. If I can describe it, it would be a dependable spot to get a bite to eat and everything should be fine. We passed by on a day out doing some shopping and figured why not coz it's a global franchise and it definitely met expectations. 👏🏽 The more American style pizza was also a welcome change from the mainly Italian style pizzas that I had for many months prior. We ordered a Chicken Supreme with a cheese-filled crust and it arrived hot and delicious. I quite enjoyed it😋 Only thing I would say as a person who like spice is that I would have liked a bit more spice and aromatics on mine, but all in all, I give it an 8/10. The major downside about the atmosphere was the fact that it was pretty hot in there. It was a warm sunny day and it seems the ventilation and air-conditioning is not as thorough as it could be, so you can feel pretty hot rather quickly. If that was sorted, it would improve the atmosphere but I guess that's also a preference thing. Still a spot I'd be happy to come back to 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Food was not fresh enough. I had stomach aches and stomach pain at night and had to visit doctor. Service was good and environment was also good. Sorry! I can’t recommend.

It is not possible to make contactless payments from a bank application, employees don’t help, it is impossible to make a bank transfer to close the check. I have worked as a Shift Manager in the leader of global HoReCa chain for 5 years and customer focus is the cornerstone of the restaurant business, remember this! The pizza and drinks are great!

Love this place! But a bit complicated to understand what and how you need to order. But staff are kind and helpful and everything was OK at the end :) Super central located. Cards accepted, few tables outside, a lot of place inside.

Cafe
Coffee shop
Hygge, located in Mainz's Neustadt, is a cozy and charming café that offers high-quality coffee, delicious cakes, and a weekly changing lunch menu prepared by the skilled chef Marie. The café exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere similar to the cute bistros and coffee shops found in Copenhagen. It caters to both vegetarians and meat eaters with innovative dishes at student-friendly prices.
Sooo good. I was there for brunch with a friend and it was delicious. My meal was so good and the chai was tasty. And it’s so cozy. The prices are good and they gave me extra bread and condiments for free, which is unusually wonderful. I was actually full! There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. My only minus is that there’s no plugs so if you want to study here, you can’t charge your devices. But for reading or writing or anything else, it’s lovely. And dogs are welcome. All the dishes and cakes looked incredible. I would definitely come again!

Cute and cozy little cafe very near to the Mainz main station. The cake we tried was yummy, and perfect for our taste buds. The coffee and hot chocolate, both hit the correct notes for us. The lady who served us was patient, and let us know all the options to choose from. All in all, we had a wonderful time, and would love to go in again for breakfast.

I was at Hygge for lunch and must say that I was very satisfied with the cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The Couscous dish that I had was delicious and the staff was very friendly and nice. The breakfast at Hygge is also very recommendable. The restaurant is super close to Mainz Main Station, which is convenient. Additionally, you can pay by card if you spend over 10€.

The Fontana Stuben restaurant offers delicious bourgeois schnitzel and decently sized portions. The pizzas on the menu are visually appealing, although their taste has not been personally sampled. The menu itself strikes a balance between variety and simplicity, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The attentive and efficient service provided by the staff, particularly the two female servers, deserves special recognition. Additionally, the speed at which orders are taken and food is served is impressively fast.
Very nice and helpful staff, super tasty food, not expensive, calm area! Highly recommend

(Translated by Google) Disappointing experience – not recommended We cannot understand the many positive reviews. The bench, window sill, tablecloths and even the toilets were not clean - this also raises doubts about the kitchen hygiene. The pizza dough was ready-made, and the dressing also tasted industrial. The prices are clearly too high for this quality. We regret eating here on our last evening in Mainz and would advise tourists who are looking for authentic Italian cuisine not to eat here. The friendly service is positive.

Nestled in a serene environment, the Seniorenzentrum Zum Laubenheimer Ried is a remarkable facility that prioritizes comfort and care for its residents. Visitors have noted the exceptionally friendly staff across all departments, who are attentive to the needs and expectations of those they serve. The home boasts cozy public areas that are meticulously maintained, creating an inviting atmosphere. Residents often express their satisfaction with the compassionate care they receive, as well as praise for the quality of meals and engaging activities offered.
(Translated by Google) After a hospital stay, we had to look for a place at the senior center for my mother at short notice and were lucky to get a free room. From day one we and my mother were very excited. There was nothing to complain about from the admission interview, the room facilities, the staff on the second floor, the care and even the food. With all the time pressure that nursing staff are under, it is rare to see such warm and self-sacrificing staff. There was always time for a short feedback discussion. Great attention was paid to cleanliness in the house. A clear recommendation for us. But it is also clear that the usual waiting times are very long and we were lucky to get a free room at short notice. It's worth a try and if you have time, you should get an impression for yourself in good time.

(Translated by Google) It was disappointing. Human as well organizational. The nurses came after the bell rang after about 30-45 minutes. In several emergencies involving relatives I was staying in, I was called because the staff was overwhelmed. My mother was in the presence of her LP treated very rudely as she put a pot in the hallway. Both were in short-term care for the first time and were quite overwhelmed and anxious. My mother fired herself and her partner. The food was so little that neither of them were full. What should be emphasized is the effort made by the nursing service management and the management of room occupancy. This was exemplary at all times. My special thanks to the “soul” of the Billie house. As a final note, “Mr. Hochstädter” you are in the wrong place! I overheard the phone call with my mother these days. Shame on you.

(Translated by Google) Not recommended. Our grandmother wasn't well accommodated there. She looked unkempt every day. The PDL seems very incompetent “you can’t deal with dementia here”. If you admit patients beforehand, you can recognize and see, for example from the discharge reports, that a person has a diagnosis of dementia. If you don't have the capacity for such people here, you shouldn't accept them or you should refuse to accept patients. Luckily our grandma got another home.

Hilton Mainz is a contemporary riverfront hotel offering an exercise room and a sleek restaurant with a riverfront terrace. Guests have praised the super clean and spacious rooms, along with the exceptional breakfast. Diamond members enjoyed beautiful views of the Rhine River and complimentary finger foods and drinks in the executive lounge from 6-8pm. The hotel also offers convenient underground parking and modern technology for seamless access to rooms. Its proximity to downtown and Christmas markets makes it an ideal choice for exploring the area.
Great location and excellent service! I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The location is fantastic – right by the beautiful river and just a short walk from the charming old town, which made exploring the city easy and enjoyable. I really appreciated the Executive Lounge – cozy, well-organized, and offering a great selection of snacks and drinks during happy hours. A special thanks to the F&B team – the service was attentive, friendly, and truly professional. Breakfast was also a highlight – a rich buffet with a wide variety of options, all fresh and delicious. The service during breakfast was excellent as well. You made my stay even more memorable. I’ll definitely be back!

Great location as it sits on the river & walking distance to downtown for a ton of restaurant & shopping options. The hotel also has a restaurant inside on the ground floor, an indoor parking garage attached, & a small convenience shop inside. The complementary breakfast was pretty incredible compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in. It’s a very large buffet filled with every breakfast option imaginable. The room was great. Standard hotel amenities for the Hilton chain. Service was excellent. No complaints. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Hilton Mainz for 3 nights in late September. The hotel is very well located for walking around Mainz and my room had a beautiful view of the river. The room and bathroom were clean with modern furnishings. We had two twin beds, which were comfortable. The thermostat worked well for cooling and heating and the room also had a mini fridge. The staff spoke English and were very friendly and nice. The gym is open 24/7, has a water station, and was decently equipped with cardio equipment and free weights. I would recommend staying at the Hilton Mainz.

Initial impression was not great - outside look was dated and mediocre looking. Front desk - check in I think I got someone who did not want to be there and I was an imposition. I had booked 4 nights as single consecutive nights, as when I booked, I had not booked my flights so I was anticipating changes. As a Diamond member, I'm usually offered free ropm upgrades if available, and my Hilton app showed the first night at the rate I booked, the second upgraded to junior suite, the third the rate I'd booked, and the fourth upgrade as well to a junior suite. When checking in I mentioned this and asked if the upgraded room was available for the whole stay. Well! It was if I had asked her to slow roast her first born for my dining pleasure! Needless to say, I didn't get the junior suite the first night, and according to her, I was "lucky" that she decided to give me Exec Lounge access, which I was entitled to due to my loyalty status. At this stage I was happy not to be sleeping on the street, so went to my room. My nitial impression of the room was the same as to the hotel in general. River View was OK, but partially obscured by facilities on the roof on the same floor as me (L4). Top floor was L7 where the Exec lounge was located. After sleeping the first night, I changed my mind about the room as the aircon worked well and was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the room was quiet overall, the bathroom was functional - good shower, everything worked etc. Day 2: I went to the front desk, carefully avoiding the lady who I checked in with, and was met by a lovely young guy, Ahmed, who was pleasant, and eager to please! What a turn around - he couldn't do enough for me - needless to say, I moved to a Junior Suite for the remainder of my stay and will be giving positive feedback about him specifically. Interestingly, the hotel is split across two buildings: one by the river and one over the main busy multi-lane road, connected by a glazed enclosed pedestrian over bridge. View was on a tree lined residential street which was pleasant enough but no river view. I was happy enough as the suite was roomy and comfortable. Breakfast was basic with a few nice touches like fresh raw honey, but a view disappointments like bacon where the taste and texture was unrecognisaible as bacon. Hard, cardboard like, dry and flavourless - had to the worst "bacon" I've had inflicted on me! Overall meats were disappointing - since it was Germany I was expecting more. My favourite was actually a sort of boiled sausage - was on the buffet in hot water - yum! Eggs were pretty good for buffet style - I think the trick was that it was busy, so high turnover of food. I ordered fresh fried eggs one morning, which were about the same, but it was funny - the waitress had no idea what "over easy" meant, so I tried to explain it - simple enough right? Maybe the language barrier was getting in the way, so next minute she had the chef out talking to me. Chef immediately said "over easy" - no problem. Came out with a selection of differently cooked fried eggs! She had no idea either, but bless her, she had tried and I was able to select the egg (I had asked for one) I liked the look of. Overall, pretty happy and I would go back again

Riesling Stuben Hochheim is a charming and well-maintained half-timbered restaurant with a picturesque courtyard covered in grapevines. It's considered the gem of Hochheim, offering delicious traditional dishes like Handkas, Kalbsschnitzel, and gegrilltes Lachsfilet. The atmosphere was great- cozy and joyful, however, both my friend and I were quite disappointed about our Schnitzel. Not juicy but hard and blend meat (feels overcooked)… have tried much better ones. I would say a supermarket Schnitzel would have tasted better after heated. Drink was good.

I reserved a table one week in advance for a birthday dinner with a group of friends in mid July 2023. Called 3 hrs before to add 2 people to the party. Only at that moment I am told they are closed because they had fired the chef. I did not get a call to inform me about the cancellation. Had to frantically improvise and call all my friends instead of what it should have a relaxed birthday celebration. There are so many better places in the area, that I am not giving it another chance. Sorry that your reservation system is so bad.

Ristorante alCortile is a top contender for the best Italian restaurant in your city. Located on Kartauserstrasse, this charming eatery offers a delightful dining experience with attentive service and a menu featuring classic Mediterranean starters like soups, light salads, and bruschetta. The restaurant boasts an authentic wood-fired oven from Italy, where they craft delectable pizzas as well as dishes like cod, involtini, and fish stew.
very nice restaurant, good service. Very good food👍 we came in group, we are satisfied. I love the vitello tonnato.. i paired it with the pizzapane. Very satisfying meal.

We had a seafood salad, a pizza and spaghetti aglio olio. The pizza was outstanding 👌, the spaghetti were really good and the seafood salad was ok (I had better one). We sat outside and it was a bit noisy. Service started out good, but slowed down. We have been here before and I felt like the service was better here before, also the food was slightly better here before (except the pizza which really was fantastic). One big downside is that dogs are tolerated but it is not a really dog friendly place - one reason why we often pick a different restaurant than this one as we like to take our dog with us when we go out.

I have eaten here at least a dozen times. Tonight was quite dreadful (first time). I asked for a table inside and was told it was full. Upon finishing my short mealon the terrace, I found the dining table nearly empty. Service was broken: I only ordered 2 dishes and wine , 4 different wait staff looked after me but none smiled. The beef in my carpaccio smelled a bit off but was still tasty( all previous times, it was wow) my carbonara tasted burned. The usual crusty Italian loaf was substituted by a strange eggy bread devoid of crunch. Overall very disappointing. I may never return and definitely stop recommending this beloved food spot(past tense).

The stuff was very rude.. Although we came 1h30min before closing hours, they made efforts so we wouldn't stay. They were limiting us to only pizza, although everyone was getting all other dishes on the menu. In the end they offered us one of the many free tables, and they let us order something else than pizza. I wouldn't come back again.

Questionable value We came back after 2 years because we liked the food and loved the espresso back then so much. This time we came back, nice place in a nice location and good service. The place is clearly very popular and was packed. But the food and value did not live up to expectation. We started off with the tomato bruschetta for 8,80 which was prepared with what felt like cheap supermarket bread from the morning, just a little retoasted. The tomatoes and oil were decent. We had 3 pasta dishes which range 15-20 euros (like the pizzas) so clearly this is not a cheap place. The quality was ok, but not more. My gratinated dish was drowned in plain cream without an attempt to add some flavour. A large bottle of water, almost 8 euros, the espresso after dinner 3,20 euros, and actually it was not that good. Nice place, maybe suitable to impress your date or guest, but for the price asked, there is place for improvement in quality.

The reviews indicate that it is a great restaurant. It was ok, but there are some work points. With the table we were assigned, we almost sat in our neighbor's plate, despite many other tables being free. The staff seems to deliberately not see you when you raise your hand, multiple times. You seem to be ignored. Even when you want to pay. We then went to pay at the cash register. There we found problems with the payment terminal, so only cash was possible. The price is fair and the food there is good. Just nice, nothing else special.

Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, great choice of food. Fresh pasta is a must, but the pizza is also great!

This is the best Italian restaurant in Mainz. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a huge variety of meals for people with different taste. There is indoor as well as out door seating at a huge covered terrace. Make sure you reserve a spot because it’s always busy. We go here with the whole family because there is something for everyone. All of their pizzas can be made without cheese for vegans. Aside from that they have bruschetta and vegan ravioli. The rest of the menu has vegetarian, beef, chicken and seafood.

Augustinerkeller is a rustic, old-style cellar in Mainz, Germany that offers a delightful dining experience. The place has a cool vibe and serves traditional German dishes like schnitzel, pork knuckles, and beef roulade that are tender and flavorful. It's a great spot for those seeking authentic home-style cuisine in a charming setting. Additionally, the wine selection includes Rhine Valley wines and Bavarian beer to complement the delicious meals.
Great food and well located, would recommend. Augustinerkeller has a good range of steaks, salads, schnitzels and sausages. Quite expensive but we thought the food was great quality and very tasty.

Nice german food. Besides beer, they also offer good wines.

A great restaurant to sit outside and people-watch while you eat. More traditional German food, which is what I was looking for. The only thing they didn't have was the jogurt dressing for the salad. I had the French onion soup and the Jager schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and fries. My friend had the saurebrotten. I really enjoyed meal.

We had dinner (party of 2) at Augustinerkeller on a Saturday at 9 pm and were seated immediately. We got the pork schnitzel Jager style (mushroom sauce), pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe), apple strudel, and apple pancakes. We don't know if these are "authentically" Germany but enjoyed our meals. The pork schnitzel was very tender and the pork knuckle was a large portion with a lot of tasty crispy skin. I thought the apple strudel was better than the apple pancakes. We were seated on the 2nd floor of the restaurant and it was quite toasty. I would recommend Augustinerkeller if you are looking for a causal dining spot for German food.

Very cozy restaurant with a little balcony floor that I got to eat on. Service was friendly. I got there right when it opened at noon and it filled up in about 20 minutes. Got the Jager schnitzel (mushroom cream sauce) with fries and salad. Nice thin flakey breeding. Got the Augustiener Helles which was quite good.

Nice and cozy place, food was not that tasty but overall we had a nice time
Eleonora V — Google review
No longer a German style true food—- more like pre-made food that lacks authentic taste. It is a tourist trap and a sad place more interested in profits vs hood fresh cooking. SKIP IT!

HANS IM GLÜCK Burgergrill, located in the heart of Mainz, offers a variety of delicious vegan burgers and other delectable options. The stylish restaurant, situated opposite the State Theatre in downtown Mainz, boasts a modern interior adorned with white tree trunks that create a unique atmosphere. Guests can enjoy classic and creative burger choices such as those featuring Parma ham, caramelized onions, or blue cheese.
We love the interior design of this Burger chain Restaurant, very original, giving the feeling of being in a small birch tree forest, with small nooks. The service is very good and the burgers are delicious, where you can choose your bun and a variety of sauces. They are kids friendly and in the spring/ summer you can seat outside.

It was so lovely. Really kind and quick service. My favourite restaurant. The vegan Burgers are the best!!

Good place to eat burgers in Mainz. Planty of options for vegetarian and vegan people. The burgers, sweet potatoes fries and drinks were really tasty. But prices are really high for a menu (25€). We've been there two years ago and prices were much cheaper.
Raphael — Google review
I was there with my friend. She ordered a "classic burger (hamburger)" with "kartoffel chips" and "vanilla matcha lemonade". I ordered a "grilled chicken burger (Elter Gockle)" with fries and "Blueberry mint ice tea." The next time I was there I ordered the same burger but "peach lemon ice tea" and my friend ordered a spicy vegetarian burger (I forgot the name). The hamburger that my friend ordered was okay, tasted like every other cliche hamburger, therefore was overpriced I'd say (10 euros). My burger costed me almost 13 euros but was really good, I liked it a lot, the mushroom sauce was very tasty, and the hashbrown in it gave really nice flavour. Overall I loved that burger. I ordered it with multi grain bread bun, which I liked the best among all their buns as well. Now regarding drinks, the matcha vanilla lemonade tasted good to me, though my friend said she cant really taste the vanilla, which was kinda true but still not bad. I had a bit of an issue with ice teas, my blueberry mint ice tea didnt have much flavour, I believe it should have a lil bit of lemon water or syrup to enhance the flavour. Same goes for my peach lemon ice tea, I order this one thinking it will have more lemon flavour, since it was written and I wanted lemon flavour but the thing was that there were only lemon slices on top, there was no lemon flavour. A squeeze of lemon or lemon syrup would again work nicely here! Overall not bad! Just a lil over priced cause the burgers don't come with sides. You have to pay almost 5 euros more for the sides. Still, I'd recommend it, cause it was nice. The interior was quite pretty as well.

Delicious food—and so much of it! Fun and tasty drinks. And such kind service! They even brought us bonus fries (yum!). We dined outside and it was a lovely evening to enjoy Mainz. We hope to be back during our visit.

Was there 1 day ago.Ordered the classic burger, salad and ice tea. Food is good. Would like to commend the service staff ..a young gentleman ..who provided prompt and attentive service.

Amazing restaurant sauces. You can buy them as well, and we definitely could not resist buying an orange mustard sauce after our second visit. The grill sauce is also very good. Their regular and sweet potato fries are both great and the lemonade with mango and ingwer was fantastic. However, their main meals - the burgers - are unfortunately disappointing. The burger bread is too soft and the overall taste is meh. The restaurant itself is wonderfully decorated and their staff are generally friendly.
