Patisserie
Thomas Haas is a renowned chocolatier and bakery offering a delightful space to savor handcrafted sweets, pastries, soups, and sandwiches. With over 20 years of experience, this destination dessert spot in Vancouver captivates both locals and tourists with its exquisite chocolates and pastries. The airy cafes in Kitsilano and North Vancouver showcase an array of delectable treats including classic baked goods like pain au chocolat and almond croissants.
The double baked almond croissant is a MUST HAVE! I used to always get the Moroccan chicken as well and having it after about 8 years of not having it was so nostalgic and still tastes the same. The mocha I had was really smooth and I really enjoyed it. We came at around 12 pm on a Saturday and there were many spots since people come and go.

Their chocolates are outstanding! Super fine, melts your mouth, high quality ingredients, complex and creative flavours, just wow! The definition of a gourmet chocolate. The matcha truffle and cardamom chocolate were awesome. They have two piece gift boxes available that work great for party favors.

In town (Vancouver) from Hawaii to celebrate a loved one's birthday, and was told that this was the place to go for an artisan cake. Bought the small but great-looking matcha one ($48) and carefully walked it back to the condo just two blocks away. Opened the box in the AM to present as part of the gift and found that the cake had melted, with the top mousse layer slipping off into the box. I was very careful with it, and placed it on a flat surface in the fridge, so no reason for it to melt and "disassemble" like it did. Bummed, but still tasty, with the latter accounting for the two-stars of the review score.

This place has a lot to offer if you enjoy tasty food and treats. Their macaroons were packed full of flavor and they had tons of options. I ended up going twice just to try them all as each one was quite tasty. The staff were friendly and service was fast. Their prices were on par for the area. The other must try item are their soufflés. Overall just come here hungry and leave happy!

Went for the limited edition Koolfest. I got the black forest drink and it was supposed to come with a cherry financier but it looks just like a shortbread cookie to me. I also got the seasonal croissant. The croissant was great, it had raspberry filling inside with maybe some cream and peaches on top. The texture was nice and the filling was not too sweet. The chocolate drink was decadent but good. The cherry compote was a little too sweet for me but I liked the rich chocolate! I didn't taste any cherry in the supposed financier, it just tasted like a normal shortbread cookie but it was still good though. Even though I went on a weekday, it was kinda busy, I got a seat but the tables are close to one another. The staff are nice and quick! Their chocolates and croissants/danishes are always superb! Can't wait to try other things!
Dahlia T — Google review
We visited the Thomas Haas Kitsilano location to pick up an online cake order. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately transported back to Europe--the look and feel of the café felt so familiar, especially after having just returned from France, Barcelona, and Italy the previous week. The staff was wonderful and carefully packaged the Black Forest Cake for my husband's birthday. It's his favorite cake, and we ended up getting the 10-12 person size for our group of six. Oh well, more delicious leftovers for the next few days! The cake was incredibly decadent, featuring Kirsch-scented chocolate cake with Kirsch Chantilly and fresh cherry compote on a shortbread base. It was a perfect celebration cake. I am looking forward to coming back for coffee and treats; I couldn't take my eyes off the pastries and sweets in the display case.

Popular cafe in Kitsilano. There are various types of cakes , Danish pastries, croissants , chocolate, macarons. To go box is nice design.

One of our favourite chocolatiers. Their hot chocolates are so good and the double baked almond croissant is the reason we keep coming back.

Beaucoup Bakery and Cafe is a charming Parisian-style patisserie with two locations in Vancouver. The original Kitsilano storefront has a cozy atmosphere, while the second location at the St. Regis Hotel downtown offers more seating and a cute patio for people watching.
i came here to try their matcha black sesame melon pan for the cherry blossom festival, and it was absolutely incredible. it wasn’t very sweet at all, but there were really nice and subtle matcha flavour, paired with the creamy, sweet, and a tad salty sesame filling. i loved how CRUNCHY the top was, but one complaint is that the pastry itself wasn’t very soft at all — it was a bit chewy and tough, and not very fresh. they did run out very fast though, so make sure you come earlyyyy if you want to try out the popular festival items.

The best double baked almond croissant I’ve ever had in metro Van! I’ve been searching (and searching) but finally found the perfect croissant in terms of flakiness, buttery layers and delicious filling that isn’t too dense or oily. We’ve gotten these several times and while the appearance isn’t always uniform, the taste is consistently good.

It’s such a gem and go to pastry/ coffee shop in the neighborhood for me and partner whenever we have friends/ family visiting, or even for a nice coffee chat/ meeting :) They frequently partner with local organizations such as the NOM magazine for ice cream or cherry blossom festivals and offer limited edition pastries. I gotta say, of all the times I have visited, their pastries have NEVER missed 😮‍💨💛 It’s a bit on the pricier side, and they still do upcharge for dairy alternatives unlike some other coffee shops, but once in a while, it makes for an amazing treat 😏 The service can be a bit inconsistent depending on the barista, but generally they’re very kind and patient :) The other thing is that the store interior is quite small, so it can get crowded and confusing throughout the ordering process. Definitely come if you’re in the area or plan to visit Granville island!

Indulge in some seriously delicious treats. • Apple Ginger Cheesecake – A gingerbread biscuit base topped with a cinnamon-spiced apple cheesecake, finished with salted caramel, sea salt flakes, and crisp apple shards. Autumn in every bite. • Mango Yuzu Cake – Layers of zesty yuzu mousse, silky mango crèmeux, and airy vanilla sponge, crowned with a passionfruit crunch. Bright, tropical, and perfectly balanced between creamy and crisp. • Cappuccino – because every dessert deserves a great coffee companion.

The atmosphere is very European. The latte was full if flavour as were the pastries. The only thing missing is Gluten free options to go with the latte

It was quite interesting—usually it’s hard to find parking here, and the place is often full. But one day, after dropping a friend off at a nearby lab, I turned the corner and found a parking spot right in front of their door. What are the chances? Of course, I took the opportunity to park and enjoy a lovely afternoon tea!

Beaucoup Bakery and Cafe is another hidden gem in Vancouver! Their pastry selection is incredible, with a wide variety of delicious options to satisfy any craving. Each pastry is beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor—perfect for a quick treat or a leisurely breakfast. The taste is always outstanding, and the cozy atmosphere makes it a lovely spot to relax. The staff is incredibly friendly, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!

True Confections Denman is a popular spot known for its wide array of in-house desserts, specialty coffees, and teas available for both dine-in and takeout. The seasonal menu additions provide an exciting twist to the regular offerings, making it a great place to catch up with friends over delectable treats. The customizable special occasion cakes are a hit among chocoholics, featuring various icing options and flavors like Coconut Cream or Chocolate Hazelnut.
I recently ordered a New York Cheesecake and a Strawberry Cake from here, and both were absolutely delicious! The New York Cheesecake was everything I hoped for—rich, creamy, and perfectly smooth. The graham cracker crust had the right amount of crunch, complementing the slightly tangy and well-balanced sweetness of the cheesecake. It was indulgent without being overpowering. The Strawberry Cake was light, moist, and full of fresh strawberry flavor. The layers were soft and airy, and the frosting had just the right amount of sweetness, with real strawberry bits enhancing the taste. It felt refreshing and satisfying in every bite. The cakes arrived fresh and beautifully presented, showing great attention to detail. Overall, my experience with them was fantastic, and I’d definitely order from them again. Highly recommend! Fresh!!!!

An American-style bakery featuring large, minimally decorated cakes in their display cases. Despite the simple presentation, the cakes look very appetizing. We tried two different kinds, and we loved both of them.

We tried four different slices of cake, and the peanut butter cheesecake was our favorite! The pecan tart was good, though the pecans tasted a bit old. Overall, everything was enjoyable — this place is definitely our go-to when we’re craving something sweet! They stay open pretty late, which is a bonus. Also, don’t miss the berry tea — it was the highlight of the night for me!

Love love love this place. Amazing staff so friendly and inviting. I brought my family the other day after dinner for my son’s 18th bday. The women over heard us saying it was his bday and she brought over a little treat for him with a lit candle. The cake is amazing we tried 3 different ones

The order took very long. The workers did not seem very skilled. We had to ask for a spoon to mix the coffee. We only ordered two pies. One specifically was asked to be heated with Alamode after 20 minutes it came. It was not heated. I had to bring it back. The first order came Five minutes before the second order and so terrible service. in addition, I asked two times once when I paid at the till the second time when the lady came to bring the water

1/5 Stars - A Tragic Decline: True Confections No Longer Lives Up to Its Name It is with considerable disappointment that I write this review for True Confections. As a long-time patron, I've observed what appears to be a precipitous decline in the quality of their cakes, particularly since the reported change in ownership or management. What was once a hallmark of Vancouver's dessert scene, offering consistently exquisite and memorable cakes, now, in my recent experiences, delivers a product that is profoundly underwhelming. I've found the texture of the cakes to be noticeably drier, the flavors less vibrant and distinct, and the overall presentation lacking the meticulous care I previously associated with the establishment. This significant drop in product quality stands in stark contrast to the prices, which, regrettably, remain at a premium level. The value proposition has, in my view, deteriorated dramatically. For anyone who cherished the True Confections of old, I must caution that the current offering may prove to be a significant letdown. Based on my recent visits and observations, I would personally suggest exploring other dessert options in the city. It's truly disheartening to witness what feels like a beloved institution lose its way so completely.

I’ve been going to True Confections for years, and it’s still my absolute favorite spot for desserts. Whether I’m celebrating something special or just craving something sweet, this place never disappoints! Chi Chi always is the best !

Bakery
Cadeaux Bakery is a popular bakeshop known for its sweet treats and custom cakes, all prepared in a stylish and airy setting. One of their signature creations is the London Fog cake, featuring white vanilla bean cake with white chocolate mousse, milk chocolate Earl grey ganache, and Earl grey tea soaking syrup. The bakery takes pride in using real butter in their pastries, such as the all-butter croissant and dark Callebaut chocolate croissant.
I cannot recommend this bakery enough!!!! I ordered two of their cakes, one ruby berry and one chocolate caramel crunch. They were phenomenal. I tried placing a order online to pickup the next day but it was 2 days notice. I called them and asked if it was possible we could get them the next day and they were able to accommodate. They were so kind!! The cakes were DELICIOUS! They were so yummy and moist. We were shocked at how much they could feed. The 5 layers is a lot and feeds a lot of people. I also likes the icing to cake ratio. They also accommodated a super late font request which they absolutely DELIVERED ON!!! We were so happy with the service. Although DTES, There was lots of parking, the inside was so cute and clean, and pickup was easy.

This was my first visit to this cute bakery. I ordered a slice of their Raspberry Latte cake. It is super moist! The raspberry & chocolate work very well together. Service was friendly & warm. I shall return later in the month to get an entire cake (in a different flavor). This bakery is the real deal!
May C — Google review
I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, and so happy I finally remembered my login info, because this is by far the best bakery in Vancouver (possibly my favourite in Canada?) and is so deserving of a 5-star review! Every time I am in Vancouver, this bakery is always at the top of my "must visit" list - I consider myself a pastry snob, and I find their cakes and pastries exceptional, both in taste and textures. The biggest issue I have, is deciding which item is my favourite, and when to stop before I overload my carry-on allowance on the plane (and my appetite while visiting). Beyond their product offerings, I have also always had such nice service from this local small business, and had such an above-and-beyond interaction earlier this year with the owner (I didn't know I was speaking with the owner at the time, but realized this at pick-up). The previous cake I had ordered for them had toppled over within blocks of pick-up, and I called for my next order to see if there was any way they could provide the cake in a smaller box this time (I had believed that the cake fell due to the oversizing of the box). Not only did she accommodate this request, but she suggested crafting a special buttercream dam for my lemon meringue cake to fortify its structure, and also provided a small discount for what happened with the cake the previous order (completely unexpected because we still ate that entire cake, it was so tasty despite how it looked). It was such a kind gesture, and her thoughtful suggestion with the cake also helped my new cake arrive from Vancouver to Calgary in perfect condition after transiting through ubers, security and flight (see photos of delicious cake along with the extra slices of london fog I picked up). I have been frequenting this bakery for over a decade, and have never been disappointed by their food or service. The tropical cloud cake, lemon meringue cake, london fog cake, passionfruit or lemon meringue tarts, and various seasonal viennoiserie - all delicious and you can't go wrong whichever you choose! I sometimes wonder if I should move just so I can have more frequent access to this bakery...it's that good!

I Gender Reveal Cake That Nearly Broke Us — Literally. I don’t enjoy writing reviews like this, but for the sake of any future parents who want their gender reveal to be magical — please think twice before ordering here. We ordered a gender reveal cake from this bakery, and it was — hands down — the worst cake I’ve ever had in my life. It was hard as a rock, to the point where we nearly broke our glasses trying to dig into it to find out if we were having a boy or girl. And once we got in? The taste was somehow even worse than the texture. It was stale, flavorless, and all we could taste was a greasy blend of fat, butter, and an overwhelming amount of sugar. No character, no freshness, no joy — just a heavy, lifeless lump of disappointment. For $75, I would expect at least basic quality and maybe even a moment of happiness. Instead, this cake almost ruined one of the most special celebrations in our lives. Honestly, I wouldn’t eat it again if they paid me. This bakery needs to take their role in people’s important moments far more seriously. Please look at some gender review cakes online and do an honest comparison with what you are offering!

Came here on Friday before my flight home. The carrot 🥕 cake is pretty solid. Not too sweet which I like a lot. It has nuts which is great. Worth stopping by.

We used Cadeaux for our wedding cake last year. The cake was absolutely delicious, exactly what we had ordered flavourwise. However, the outside design was not what we had agreed on, and the box they were supposed to provide for the top tier was not provided (leaving us scrambling a bit on the day of) But, they apologized and refunded our deposit. We also did two cake tastings with them. An initial one with their premade cakes, and a second one in the Bakery with cake components of our choosing. Both experiences were great and super helpful. Communication with the vendor was great, we would consider them again in the future.
Hana S — Google review
By far the best carrot cake in Vancouver. Cream cheese icing? Check. Walnuts? Check. Raisins? Check. Generous portion? Check. Thoroughly enjoyed this after a busy day at work :) 100% will be ordering in the future!

Consistently great pastries, cakes and seasonal treats for many years and at good value. Love the carrot cake, Tropical Cloud cake, Black Forest individual dessert, Passion Fruit and/or Lemon tarts along with excellent real croissants and assorted pastries. Frozen croissants to bake at home too! Over the years I've ordered various high quality cakes that family & friends have thoroughly enjoyed. Occasionally, have had treats & coffee, tea, hot chocolate at one of the 4-5 tables in the warm, modern style environs with open kitchen. Service has always been good or better. This is a hidden gem!

Breka Bakery & Café - Bute is a local favorite in Vancouver, offering a wide range of delectable treats and drinks. This charming corner bakery is open 24/7, making it the perfect spot for late-night cravings. The cozy interior and ample seating create a welcoming atmosphere, ideal for enjoying the beautiful downtown Vancouver views.
It's 24 hour with free WiFi! Great place for students to study or get some work done on your laptop. You can smell the fresh bread being baked in house at 4am. And did you know they have gluten free desserts as well? They are delicious and won't leave you feeling like crap. Clean place and very friendly service. I tried their breakfast bagel today and didn't expect them to have it panini pressed which was nice! A wow factor! I got a few pastries for some friends too. Make sure you also try it out! 😊
Eddy W — Google review
This Breka cafe is large and sunny with lots of seating, including small tables, a communal table, and window counters, but is nonetheless always full when I pass by. Although the design is nice, the atmosphere was really hectic because of how busy they were; trying to get a seat was a free for all, the staff was yelling order numbers, and I felt rushed to order before I got to the front of the line which meant I hadn't gotten to even see everything in the display yet. I did manage to grab a seat at the communal table where I was able to enjoy my lunch. I got an egg salad sandwich, a date & walnut hamantaschen, and a cup of sencha. The challah bread that the sandwich was made with was very light and a little sweet and goes well with the egg salad. I would have liked the sandwich a little more if it had lettuce or greens instead of just the egg salad inside. I like that they pair their sandwiches and savoury pastry pockets with a pickle slice. The hamantaschen was also very good - the cookie was fresh and soft, and I loved the flavour of the date-walnut jam filling. Tea is decent too. I've tried other things from other locations, and in general, I think all of their food is tasty and great quality for the affordable prices. Some of the savoury sandwiches and pockets are a little oily/buttery, but they are very tasty. I've really enjoyed all of the cakes I've tried; the desserts are sweet but they come in reasonable portions so I don't feel like it's too much. The donuts are heavenly, super fluffy, but very sweet. The muffins are the only baked good here that I've been a little underwhelmed by - they're not bad but just average. This is not my usual Breka but I wanted to try this one to switch it up. I probably will not come back to this one because I feel like the other locations are more laid back and have nicer staff, but I am just basing this off one visit, so it's of course entirely possible I just visited at a particularly stressful time. I did feel like it was hard to relax while I was here though.

Both Brownie Chocolate Mousse to go. This mousse taste great! The mousse is not too sweet. The only thing I hope is that the brownie portion should be a bit more bigger to have a balance l. Love the chocolate ganache coating, it kept the house layer moist. The addition of chocolate bark on top was also a great touch. Highly recommend this. The staff were always very nice, and the service was quick.

I came to this bakery multiple times. Love this place! Breka is my go-to spot for tea, coffee and desserts. The pastries are always fresh and tasty, and their coffee is great too. The vibe is super chill, and the staff are always friendly even when it’s busy. Perfect place to hang out or grab a late-night snack!

Location and more than one location in Vancouver. If you are looking for a fast food bakery, you should be fine. But do not expect fresh and tasty meals. Products ate just average. There are better coffee places on the area with tasty products.

Perfect little atmosphere to enjoy a baked good or tasty sandwich any time of day. We visited around 2:30 on a Sunday and it had a constant line but managed it well. So many yummy sandwiches and donuts to choose from. We enjoyed their chicken apricot sandwich and the nut butter donut. Both were very tasty. The service was friendly and quick. We would definitely visit again.

We had Breka's donuts at Davie location for the first time. We liked them so much we visited this location before heading back to the U.S. on April 2. This location seems a little more spacious than Davie. Because there's a construction going on in front of the cafe, the view isn't good. The food and drinks were tasty as we expected. I should have ordered pistachio donuts again. I wish I lived in Vancouver!

New Town Bakery & Restaurant is a family-owned casual spot in Chinatown and Surrey, serving as both a Chinese bakery and full-service restaurant since 1980. The main location on Pender Street offers an array of Asian and Western pastries, including epic apple tarts and delectable shrimp dumplings. The bakery is known for its no-nonsense, quick service with most items on the menu priced at $5 or less.
GET THE COCONUT BUN !!! it’s sOOO good — the bread is so fluffy and soft, and it contains this sweet, shredded coconut paste that is so perfect and comforting with the warm bun. the egg wash is so satisfying, the top is brown and baked nicely, and it pulls apart so nicely. however, i do wish the coconut was spread a bit more evenly to the edges, because the center was super filled with the sweet goodness but the outside was just normal bun. both the deluxe chicken bao and pork asado bun had a steaming, thick, fresh, and filling bun, and was loaded with meat. the deluxe was super hefty, and i especially enjoyed the flavourful and juicy chunks of meat paired with the grainy, earthy egg yolk. the asado bun was sweet and super flavourful, but it had an alcohol ish taste too? not sure if that was intentional. the taro turnover was really good too — the outside was crispy and the inside was bursting with the thick, dense, and subtle-tasting taro paste which was balanced perfectly with chunks of meat. the ratio was absolutely perfect ! the pineapple bun was large and had a really good flavour, but it was microwaved before serving. this made the bottom of the bun super floppy and soggy, but it got better after it cooled off a bit. i also would’ve preferred for the butter to slOWLY melt into the bun (so it’s still a bit solid). the butter was also minimal and not evenly distributed throughout the bun. the top was super crumbly and perfectly sweet though, and the salty butter still paired well to make an indulgent dish.

I met the lady who runs this place on a trip from Seattle to Vancouver. Asked her and her husband for an authentic place in Chinatown to enjoy real Chinese food. Every dish is good, the staff are very friendly and fast to bring the food! Highly recommend for a full meal or home made Chinese pastries. Also took some treats to my friends back in Seattle. Would definitely be back for more than when I get the chance to visit Vancouver! Thank you for everything, dear Susanna.

Restaurant: Ordered beef he fen, beef brisket, stir fry rice vermicelli. All decently good, and nice portions. Got a soup with the combo and it was pretty watery, not very good. Service was slow and erratic. Cleanliness can be improved. Bakery: The baked goods were very good in terms of variety, portion and tasted.

It was our first time visiting this bakery, and we found a good selection of food and desserts to order for takeout. Firstly, the wait time was about 10 minutes before we could place our order. The line was chaotic; there was a single line, but some people cut in front of us. I'm not sure if they were part of a group that had already been waiting, but it felt quite disorganized. The customer service was fast-paced yet inconsistent. They offered a free box if you purchased fresh steamed hambao, but if you bought frozen ones, they simply pulled them out of the freezer and handed them to you without a box or another layer of bag. I had to ask and argue a bit before they agreed to give me a box. Additionally, this bakery operates on a cash-only basis, as they do not accept credit cards, which probably influences where its profits go. Some of the desserts were enjoyable, particularly the coconut buns and the pork turnover, commonly referred to as the "football." However, the egg tarts were not sweet enough, and the sesame balls could have been better. I also wish they would use yellow mung beans instead of red beans. My wife tried the #5 pork hambao, which contains a variety of ingredients and it tasted good. I returned the next day to try their barbecue duck noodle soup. It was a bit greasy, but overall, it tasted pretty good.

You need to get one thing and one thing only, the special deluxe buns. My favourite is the pork with mushrooms and egg. Get them in the morning or noon when they are at its freshest. Prices are reasonable for these big gems, but service is a hit or miss with some of these ladies serving. But other than that, I would come back again if I'm in the area. There is a cafe style restaurant in the back as well. This location has become a popular destination for tourists and gets very busy and packed.

We came specifically for the steamed buns - BBQ pork and the chicken deluxe/Bola Bola siopao. They both were delicious, but the chicken deluxe was probably the best I've ever had. You have to try these steamed buns. Highly recommended!

I always visit this bakery whenever I'm in Vancouver and specifically, Chinatown! I have been coming here for the past 10 years and the food has remained delicious all throughout, with reasonable prices. They have a large bakery selection of egg tarts, pineapple buns, and more. The service there is great and the menu offers a selection of authentic Cantonese cuisine. I always order the steamed radish cake, cheong fun, macaroni soup (great option for kids!), and congee. Those are my favourite dishes here. Like many small businesses in the area, they only accept cash or debit card. Overall, this place is perfect for anyone looking to experience authentic Hong Kong cuisine. 10/10 recommend.

Visiting from the US and randomly stopped by. The line was long but it went fast. While waiting near the door, a local Canadian woman confirmed that New Town Bakery was the BEST in town. We ordered an assortment of dim sum and BBQ pork buns. Hands down it was the best Chinese BBQ pork buns I’ve ever had even better than the ones in Chinatown in SF or LA. I recommend all foodies to visit New Town Bakery and Chinatown BBQ! Also, New Town Bakery was featured in the movie “Always Be My Maybe” with Alie Wong.

Trafiq Cafe & Bakery is a charming European-style cafe located on Vancouver's Main Street. It's a spacious and inviting spot where you can enjoy a delightful coffee break, breakfast, or lunch. The bakery takes pride in its assortment of house-made croissants, pastries, sandwiches, and bread. However, the real stars of the show are their delectable cakes and desserts.
this place is AMAZINGGGGG!!! this actually satisfied my cake cravings so well and literally everything was such special treat. the salted caramel cake was perfectly made—the vanilla cake was moist, soft, and the perfect base. generously separating each layer was this incredibly fluffy and light cream that wasn’t too sweet or salty, which was perfect for me because i honestly don’t even like caramel that much! despite that, i really enjoyed the caramel injection because it was such a nice punch of flavour between the light layers of cake and cream. the earl gray cake was also amazing, with a very subtle fruity and flowery taste. the cakes are seriously SO FLUFFY and HAD THE PERFECT MOIST TEXTURE I CANT EVEN. but make sure you bring some milk or water because it can get a bit sweet in the end ! the chunky monkey was also so special, unique, and delectable. the solid texture wasn’t what i was expecting (the top part is a bit tough), but it was still perfect and easy to cut through with a fork. a bit hard to describe the mouthfeel honestly, but it was kind of like a bunch of doughy, dense, pastry insides crammed together. maybe that doesn’t sound appetizing but trust me it was AMAZING. the banana flavour was strong and perfectly paired with the sweet chocolate. the mini chocolate decadence was also great, and the perfect size because it was sweeter than the other cakes—but it shared the same light, fluffy cream and moist cake. even the savoury food was incredible, which i was honestly surprised by! the focaccia bread was perfectly toasted, crispy and warm, while also being super fluffy. the melted cheese had the toastiest, enticing aroma that you just couldn’t resist, and even the arugula paired so well with the saltiness of the rest of the ingredients. i definitely want to return to trafiq again and try other unique cake flavours in the future!!!!!

I ordered the matcha cherry cake, it was pretty good! The sweetness was perfect (my taste not too sweet), and the moist, soft texture was just right. It’s a small shop, so there isn’t much space and the tables are really close to each other. Definitely come back to try other cakes 🍰 !

Traffiq Café has good coffee. The cake servings are huge, definitely generous! I’m not much of a sweet tooth, but I could tell the ingredients were very fresh and the quality was there. Personally, I prefer the cakes without heavy icing by the counter or their cookies, which are a nice balance for the coffee pairing if you’re not into overly sweet treats. A great spot overall for a coffee break, especially if you appreciate fresh bakes and a lively vibe.

Tried the chocolate brûlée cake and it was beautifully made with very tasty layers of cream and mousse. The flavours worked really well together. The presentation of the cake was gorgeous. The only thing that could have improved was the actual chocolate cake part, which in our cake was quite dry and comparable to an overcooked muffin in texture. Other than that, it was a great, high quality cake.

I first visited Trafiq over 10 years ago and instantly fell in love with their cakes — they’re so delicious and incredibly moist! You really can’t go wrong with any of their flavours — from salted caramel to earl grey to blueberry lemon, every one is amazing. Though I hadn’t been in a while, I recently came back to sample some flavours for my engagement party, and I’m happy to say they’re just as good as I remember! The service is really excellent, and the owners are so kind and friendly. Their prices are very fair, portions are generous compared to other bakeries and cafés in Vancouver, and the quality is truly unmatched. Can’t wait to come back again and try more flavours for the wedding cake! 💕

Omg I don’t know where to start! Our first visit and definitely not our last… the neapolitan cake somehow tasted exactly like the ice cream and the value of that nutella coffee cake is unbeatable. We will definitely be getting our birthdays from here now because the chocolate decadence was next level delicious. I don’t even have words to explain how good everything was from the cookies to the cakes so I’ll some pictures of what we picked up!

I don't write reviews at all, but I had to say what a great place Trafiq is and I wish I could give them 6 stars!!! This is the place we go when we are sad and when we are happy. It's not just about the delicious sandwiches or deserts but everything happening in here. Lovely owner, lovely staff and delicious food and sweets. This is the place we go when we need to make a memory. Don't miss out.

Honestly, it’s not worth the price. The desserts are good, but not for what they cost. Out of all the cakes they advertise, there were only two options available, so there was no way to get a better idea of the rest. I do have to highlight that the service is really good, friendly and fast.

Michele Cake Shop, a beloved establishment in Kerrisdale since 1989, is renowned for its delectable fruity cakes, particularly the Fresh Mango Cake available during mango season. These sweet and moist treats are perfect for special occasions with their delicious flavors and stunning appearance. The bakery offers a variety of options including Matcha, Chestnut, and Fresh Mango Cake.
Woohoo! Michelle’s has been one of our favourite go-tos for birthday cakes ever since we moved to Vancouver. Their cakes strike the perfect balance—not overly sweet, with fresh and vibrant fruits that perfectly blends with the interlayers of chiffon and cream. The delivery is reasonably priced, making it super convenient. I’d highly recommend trying their matcha green tea cake, chestnut cake, and of course, their Portuguese egg tarts. Always a delightful experience!
Philip L — Google review
I had the fruit cake and it was ok. It was light and not too sweet. The mango cake was delicious. Also, we just tried the bakery for the first time, and it was really great. There are not a lot of selections, but everything we have tried so far is delicious. Will come back!

Service is quick, baked goods are delicious at such a great price! Will definitely be back here. So far, my favourite baked goods shop in the Kerrisdale area! These are some delicious goodies that I’ve tried & highly recommend…Peach Bun, Egg Tart, Sponge Cake, Curry Beef Bun, Shredded Pork Bun, Cheese Wiener Bun (personally love Chinese Wiener Buns). Chinese bakeries are next level and you’re missing out if you don’t try this place!

Very soft and fluffy strawberry cake. If u think western cake is too sweet this is far better. There is parking but no room inside to eat.

This place really need to control the safety of their food better, bought a cake for my parents birthday, the cake itself was ok, but the fruit topping on top was spiled. The green cantaloupe ball is rotten and ruined half the cake because the spoiled juice sip thru the cream and got to the cake.

My FAVOURITE chestnut cake in Vancouver!! I ordered ahead at @michelecakeshop_ ‘s official website for a 6inch cake. Everything went smoothly with the online order and pickup process. They will offer u a free message written on a chocolate decoration. The chestnut cake is absolutely better than any other bakery location in Vancouver. If you don’t have a big appetite for crazily sweetened dessert, go for it! The cream and chestnut was creamy and smooth. Their cake is not a traditional sponge cake but richer in egg content. It’s also moist and soft, but not spongy and airy. Please try them if you haven’t !!! Lovely staffs, lovely service, amazing quality😍 💯Recommended 📍Michele Cake Shop 6033 West Blvd, Vancouver

I will always rave about this bakery. Their mango and chestnut cakes are delicious. The cream is fluffy and light while the cake is spongy. Nothing is ever too sweet here. Their savory pastries are also really good especially as a snack on the go. I would also recommend the egg tarts as they are crispy and eggy with the right amount of sweetness

Remi Patisserie, led by pastry chef Remi Ho, offers a delightful fusion of French and Asian flavors in its array of pastries and cakes. With roots in French Guiana and a Chinese upbringing, Remi infuses his creations with unique combinations that result in one-of-a-kind flavors. From flan tarts to mochis and roll cakes, the menu is constantly evolving as Remi experiments with new ideas.
I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting Remi Patisserie, and I’m still dreaming about the treats I enjoyed there! Everything I tried was a delight, but a few stood out as instant favorites. The Vanilla apple flan was pure heaven, creamy, perfectly balanced, and bursting with this cozy apple flavor that felt like a warm hug. Then there was the Thai tea roll, which was such a unique treat, creamy, not overly sweet, with a tea flavor that lingers in your mouth in the best way possible. And don’t get me started on the Matcha mochi eclair, it’s this chewy, earthy, sweet masterpiece that I can’t stop thinking about. Every bite was crafted with so much care and creativity. My only (selfish) wish is that Remi could stay in Vancouver and keep the shop open longer so I could savor these goodies even more. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and go, you won’t regret it!

Genuinely some of the best pastries ive had in vancouver. The black sesame mochi was divine a perfect blend of thin mochi wrapped around custard and black sesame. The hojicha cream puff was amazing. Perfect puff and hojicha custard. Honestly the only feeback i have is that the chocolate chip cookie was wayyyy too sweet and was actually raw in the middle. The salted egg yolk financier was perfect blend of sweet and salty and the crust on the outside is inspired. I wish the place had seating. He knew which items had alcohol gelatin. I would definitely go again and highly recommend.

Remi Patisserie is honestly the best bakery in Vancouver. Their cakes, mochis, and eclairs are always super fresh and just taste amazing. You can tell everything is made with care. The strawberry shortcake at Remi Patisserie is honestly next level. It’s incredibly fresh every single time, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. Paired with the fresh, juicy strawberries, it creates the perfect balance of flavors. The strawberries are always super fresh and sweet, never mushy or tart, which makes a big difference. It’s one of those desserts that looks beautiful and tastes even better. I’ve had it for several years now and it’s always consistently amazing. Definitely a must-try if you’re visiting Remi Patisserie. It’s the kind of dessert you think about long after it’s gone. Also, Remi himself is super sweet and genuinely cares about his clients. You can really feel the love and passion he puts into his work. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out

First time I came here was in September last year to buy the matcha sesame roll cake for someone but unfortunately I did not have the chance to try it due to my fitness goal. And now I’m back again without a fitness goal but most importantly because of the strawberry drama that has been going on lately😂 (life has been boring for me I know🙄) hence I wanted to get some pastries again to give my take and see what it’s all about. I went there near closing and they only had the Mont Blanc, Salted egg financier and the matcha mochi eclair left. Which was also okay since those were the particular ones that I wanted to try. 1) Mont Blanc So good. Also fairly generous with the chestnut candy portion. I shared this one with my boyfriend and somehow ate 2 pieces of it while my boyfriend ate 1 piece lol. And the inner cream just slaps so well with the Mont Blanc shell. Chefs kiss 2) Matcha Mochi Eclair Simple (just mochi, matcha cream and puff pastry) but tasty. But there’s a saying quality food does not need to be complicated. Just quality ingredients and a chef that puts their heart into creating their food. I wish they would also make more flavors of this eclair tho since the base has lots of potential to go so well with any other flavors. 3) Salted Yolk Financier I love desserts that has salted yolk flavoring in it therefore I had the highest hopes for this one. However I could not taste too much salted Yolk flavor, only a hint of the taste which was kind of sad for me hence one star off. With that being said. I will still definitely come back to try other items like the roll cakes and mochis for sure because as a pastry lover and being spoiled with top notch pastries since childhood, I can confirm this place uses premium quality ingredients from the taste and NEAT presentation. So for the people blaming on the high price/portion, you get you pay for and in my opinion, for things that you put in your mouth should always be quality over quantity. Or just buy your T&T cakes if you want quantity instead of complaining the portion provided by this place.

two friends recommended going there. really satisfied with the experience. it is a little pity that the chef is leaving for adventure. I won't blame him because I think it is his life, he can decide how to live it. all the best and see you around.

I love everything from Remi Patisserie! My favourite is definitely the mochi, which is chewy, soft and not sweet at all. I love how the mochi skin is thicker compared to other stores in town. Staff is always friendly whenever I go and I was surprisingly gifted the matcha eclair yesterday :)
Viv D — Google review
The roll trio is incredible! The texture of the cake is perfection and the Thai Tea flavour is outstanding. Well done Remi and team!
Janine Z — Google review
Visited the bakery a few days ago. The store is very small and only offers takeout, no dine-in. I tried their Crispy Salted Egg Yolk Financier, which was too sweet for my liking. The sweetness overpowered the salted egg yolk flavor, making it undetectable. The inside of the financier is cake-like, wrapped in a somewhat flaky skin. It might appeal to those who enjoy sweet croissants combined with muffins. I also tried the Matcha Éclair, which was my favorite. The mochi inside paired well with the crispy éclair and had a great matcha flavor. Additionally, I got their mango roll and matcha black sesame roll. Both were just alright; the sponge cake was not as spongy as I preferred, and the mango and matcha flavors were faint. The mango roll was the sweetest of the two. Their roll cake base is the same as their strawberry shortcake, so you can choose either to try for the first time. The strawberry shortcake was just okay, a bit sweeter than the rolls, with a lot of strawberry filling. As for their mochi, I got the black sesame mochi, hojicha mochi, and mango mochi. I loved the black sesame and mango mochi, but the hojicha mochi lacked flavor. I personally do not recommend this place, but it is a great spot to pick up some desserts for big groups. What's worth trying here is their eclair and mochi.

Amazing cakes and excellent coffee! Ruby Coco Hot Chocolate was on the sweet side but had fruity notes and was quite delicious. Dissapointed with their cake after reading all the good reviews. Ordered the “Monet in Kyoto” cake for my dad’s birthday and was super excited when looking at how beautiful it looked online. Picked it up and was disappointed with how the cake looked in person. The cake looked like it had been sitting in their fridge for awhile and didn’t look fresh. The chocolate decorations looked “wilted” and there seemed to be some sort of liquid/dew on top of the cake and surrounding it. Mind you, we only took 15min to get home, and put the cake in a cooler, plus it was a rainy/cool summer day. The centre also looked almost peach/pink online, but looked more brown in person. When we cut into the cake, it was very mushy & wet on the inside and some sort of liquid was (again)seeping out. Overall it was a very wet cake, despite us taking care to put it in a cooler and the fridge as we got home. Taste wise it was just so-so, nothing too special. I’ve had better cake at other bakeries for cheaper. Not worth the $70 price tag this cake came. Very disappointed and would probably not order again.

Tried their pillow cakes and cake rolls last year and they were pretty good but I think the flavours could have been much more intense to make them stand out. Went back for the choupix collab since I’m a fan of cream puffs, eclairs and all desserts with fillings and a couple of the choupix were quite good. Overall still looking for more intense flavours in their desserts to make them more pow!

The cake tasted ok and the color combination was nice. However, the writing on the cake and the chocolate drip didn't look good at all. The cake was slanted to the right too, which was unacceptable. It's my second time ordering from buttermere and my first order was way better. I am very disappointed this time because even the leaves on the cake were not fresh either (kind of dried up and became brownish). Initially, this is a surprise gift to a friend, but it turned out ruining her mood when she opened the box. My order number is 02839

Found this hidden dessert cafe in Chinatown serving beautiful desserts and roll cakes with a variety of unique flavours! The cake roll has such a light spongy and airy texture. Our favourite was the Hojicha sponge roll cake filled with rich japanese roasted green tea flavoured whipped cream~ the elegant flavour and softness of the roll cake melts in your mouth. The thai empire one was also amazingly delicious too, the Thai milk tea flavour was really good and light Loved the super cute decor, would love to come back to try their pillow cakes and other desserts too! UPDATE: I have recently ordered again from Buttermere. We ordered the sakura roll. The roll was good but still no match as compared to the Halfmoon cake. We felt the sponge roll was a bit dry. Unfortunately, we found a hair on the swiss roll. Something we did not expect especially give the price of the cakes/ swiss rolls. I really hope they do something about this. Especially with COVID, I would at least expect that they would have done more to prevent this from happening. (See pictures below.) *********** Hands down to Buttermere Patisserie!!! I highly recommend them despite the steep price. I ordered the Halfmoon cake (rose and lychee sponge cake). It was visually stunning and tasted heavenly! The sponge was soft and fluffy. The lychee compote and the toasted milk ganache blended so well with the lychee rose sponge cake. The cake felt light and yet full in flavour. The balance of flavours were perfectly done. I am so glad that I have found this Patisserie. I will definitely be back to order their succulent cakes and rolls.

The cakes are expensive but the quality justifies it. Every part of the cake tastes divine. The mango filling and toppings were very fresh and the cake texture is soft like a cloud. I just wish there was more mango filling but I guess it's limited by the size of the cake.

Great spot for a quality bakery item and coffee at the airport. Got an almond croissant and oat flat white, both of which were great. Customer service is also great with pleasant people working at the counter. The scones are really nice as well.

The chocolate almond croissant is chewy, delicious, and just the right sweetness — the chocolate isn’t too sweet, and the almond bits really elevate the flavor. 😋✨ Plus, the black coffee is served hot and tastes great. Simple, fresh, and satisfying! ☕🥐

This bakery is such a gem at the airport—super convenient and a total must-visit! Whether you’re just arriving or about to catch a flight, it’s so easy to swing by and grab some fresh, delicious bread. They’ve got a great variety, from classic baguettes to unique sweet and savory options. Every bite feels so fresh, with that perfect crispy crust and soft, fluffy inside. It’s nothing like the usual airport food—you can tell they put a lot of care into what they make. What really stood out to me was the service. The staff are always friendly, smiling, and super quick to help. If you’re in a rush, they’ll recommend options that are easy to take with you and even package them up quickly so you can be on your way. If you’ve got time to kill before your flight, you can just sit back, enjoy some freshly baked bread with a hot cup of coffee, and completely forget about the stress of traveling. The prices are also surprisingly reasonable for airport food, and the quality is way better than you’d expect. Plus, the bread stays fresh for a while, so it’s perfect to snack on during the flight or even to bring home as a little gift for family or friends. If you’re at the airport and need something tasty and convenient, this bakery is hands down the place to go. I’ll definitely be stopping by again on my next trip!

Disappointed in the Filipino barista lady who when I asked to put less ice poured me 1/2 cup iced latte with mostly milk and asked do I want more milk instead of pouring more coffee. On top of that; the Blondie and Cookie given was hard with the butter/oil residue hardened at the bottom. Mind you it was right when they opened. I had expected they had baked fresh pastries at the start, but instead received yesterday’s old baked goods. When I asked to get another one since it was old, he said no, you touched it. Felt ignored and cheated for something I paid for. Complete 180 degrees on what it used to be when I came to YVR Airport 3 years ago, heading back to Montreal with absolute horrid experience at this location.

This location is much improved from their Yaletown and Granville Street bakeries. After walking up the stairs and entering the bakery, we were welcomed by a vast display of baked good, all made with eggs, of course. The Vegan Chickpea Masala Sandwich contains garlic, so that wasn't going to work for me either. The only other choice was Avocado Toast. Instead of fresh slices of avocado, it was a small amount of mashed avocado with sprinkled honey'd pistachio on top. I was so hungry I had two orders. My partner enjoyed a Roasted Vegetable and Pesto Quiche that was apparently very yummy. For the quiche, this place gets 4 stars. For my stingy avocado toast, and lack of decent vegan options, this place gets 3 stars.

Great bakery. The pistachio croissant was amazing with a rich complex pistachio filling. The almond croissant was less sweet then most...this was perfect because i was able to actually taste the almond. The consistency of the filling and overlying crust were excellent. The coffee was ok. Top 20 percentile. The vibe is very nice with a modern open concept aesthetic.

Small Victory is a delightful spot that specializes in bread and coffee, with a spacious and cozy design that makes it a great place to relax. They have their own bread-baking equipment on-site, so everything is fresh, and the bread selection is impressive with plenty of options to choose from. We tried the baguette, baguette bite, and apple pie—all were delicious! The baguette was perfectly crusty, and the apple pie was tasty, though a touch on the oily side. We also ordered coffee and hot chocolate, which were both above average in quality, making for a satisfying experience overall. The café also offers a variety of brunch, lunch, and soup options, making it easy to find something for everyone. With their quality baked goods and comfortable atmosphere, Small Victory is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I enjoy the atmosphere at Small Victory Café — it’s a nice spot to sit and relax, and some of the food is pretty good. But honestly, the matcha is insanely expensive. A small matcha costs almost $9, which feels crazy for what you get. It’s just a basic matcha with oat milk — no sweetener, no vanilla, nothing added — and even though they use premium grade matcha, the price still doesn’t make sense. I’ve had great matcha at other places for much less. Overall, while the café itself is pleasant, the matcha pricing is just over the top.

Thierry Alberni is a renowned counter-service cafe and shop located on Alberni Street in Vancouver, known for its savory dishes and artisanal confections. The chocolaterie patisserie offers a variety of delectable cakes, including the popular Chocolate Marquise cake and decadent chocolate tart, as well as soft and chewy macarons.
My husband and I visited Thierry Alberni yesterday. We had caramel latte, coffee latte, lemon tart, tiramisu, whisky truffle and Whisky Truffle, everything is so perfect! We also ordered a chocolate Trio cake to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends today! Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Pricy downtown coffee shop and bakery. Very fancy looking desserts and a large selection of chocolates. A lot of seating is available outside in nice weather, limited seating inside. Limited service as they don’t bring the items to your table after ordering. The service was pretty slow on a workday at 5pm and many tables were left uncleared. Overall a fine coffee shop for meeting up or a coffee chat.

This coffee and pastry shop is fantastic. They offer a great selection of desserts. I ordered a coffee and one of the desserts, and both tasted really good. I also appreciated the variety of chocolates available. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their delicious treats.

I hadn't been here in ages and their desserts are still tasty. Food: 5/5 - a great selection of assorted desserts. They even sell cakes for special occasions. We only had room for something small but next time, we'll be in for the bigger desserts. The macarons had just the right taste of not being too sweet. My favourite was the caramel macaron. Service: 5/5 - great service Atmosphere: 5/5 a nice vibe to the place with either indoor or outdoor seating. It's probably the only great dessert place in central downtown Vancouver. I can't wait to go back there for more desserts.

A popular dessert shop/bakery with a wide variety of desserts, chocolates and pastries. Chocolate marquise was good but very rich. Millefeuille and raspberry fromage blanc were the highlights. Millefeuille was well balanced with crisp, caramelized layers of puff pastry, and silky rich pastry cream. Raspberry fromage was light, tangy, and had fresh fruit flavors.

Excellent service and sweet treats. I used to say I don’t like matcha, but I like this matcha. Had the seasonal coconut mango matcha - yum! I recommend sitting with a friend and enjoying the spot.

I visited your café last night and ordered a decaf mocha. It was delicious, but unfortunately, it seems it wasn’t actually decaf — I was awake all night, unable to sleep. I really enjoy your drinks, but this mistake completely ruined my night and affected my whole next day. Please be more careful with decaf orders in the future.

Small Victory Bakery is a high-end coffee shop with a bright and contemporary ambiance, offering artisanal pastries, breads, and sandwiches. It's open from 8 AM to 3 PM and is perfect for a quick breakfast or a light brunch or lunch. The bakery is known for its delicious croissants, pains au chocolat, scones, almond butter banana morning oats, and hot lattes.
Absolutely love the new Small Victory location at Marinaside! The space is beautiful—bright, calm, and perfectly designed for a relaxed coffee or brunch by the water. The croissants are buttery and flaky, and the avocado toast is always spot on. Great coffee, friendly staff, and the same quality I loved at their old Homer Street spot. So glad they’re back in Yaletown!

I tried the egg and avocado croissant and it was delicious. However, I ordered a flat white but it was basically a latte, which felt a bit disappointing for a specialty coffee shop. The tables were also dirty and we had to clean them ourselves. Overall, it was still a good experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The Salted Caramel Macadamia Tart tasted like heaven, and the Steak & Cheese Hand Pie was incredibly delicious and flavorful

Great pastries and coffee ☕ ! On the more expensive side but that's definitely quality products so I wouldn't mind spending a bit more in some occasions to get something really good 😊 I got a latte which As neither too hot nor too cold (and that's somewhat hard to get these days...but they got it right 👍🏻), butter croissants 🥐 and cinnamon rolls, that Are all great looking and tasting. I definitely recommend for a weekend treat (or any day to be fair!), I'll be back !

I really like this coffee shop. There is a variety of things to consider and eat. Great outdoor seating and one of the best croissants in the city in my opinion.

Bought two mini cakes ($10 each) and they were horrible quality for such expensive cakes. They were just super sweet, and I could tell they made them with limited ingredients from the taste and there was no depth to the flavours. Shouldn’t $10 mini cakes be high quality? Just visually pretty. Money was wasted. Will not be buying cakes from them again.

The best addition to marinaside Yaletown ! I lived here for few years and I was always shocked how terrible the coffee shops and service are for the best sunny location in downtown vancouver ! This location is the best ! The coffee is great, the service is good , and the pastries are not sugary Americanized ! Very tasty , flaky croissant with a choice of breakfast sandwiches ! Well needed in Marinaside ! Definitely will come back !

So glad to see Small Victory back in Yaletown. Same great pastries. Same great service. The only difference… the view. What an amazing view of False Creek. Now you can sit on their outside patio and “people watch” over a nice cup of java. 👏👏 The Vanilla Croissant Doughnut was so good. It was just snoozing with cream on the first bite. Another amazing treat … Peanut Butter Dulce Cookie. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of their baked good. Will definitely be back.

Nelson the Seagull Cafe is a charming coffeehouse and bakery known for its South African owners and their delicious sourdough bread. The cafe offers a variety of breakfast options, sandwiches, pastries, and picnic boards. Visitors can enjoy the airy and open-concept space while indulging in menu items like poached eggs, peanut butter and jam, avocado, peaches and ricotta. The cafe's sourdough bread is particularly popular, with many patrons praising its robust flavor.
Cute café/brunch spot serving delicious avocado toasts. The sourdough is buttery, crunchy and very aromatic – a carb-lover’s dream :) There aren’t too many inside seating options, so be prepared for a short wait. The food is all the more reason to visit :) The atmosphere is nice, filled with the smell of freshly baked bread, brunch dishes and brewed coffee.

Very delicious sourdough bread. Great flavor on the tomato jam toast. It was a little more than I wanted to spend for two coffees, and two toasts for breakfast. I would have liked to try some of the amazing looking pastries but would easily bring the bill to $65+ Would like to go back and try the sweet treats

Oat-milk mocha was great. They discontinued the soup and bread. Had avocado on toast and poached eggs. Eggs were perfectly poached but the sourdough could be softer yet crispy; was too hard. The ambience was great and welcoming.

Nelson the Seagull is such a gem. The vibe is chill and artsy, and the sourdough is incredible. I recommend it, whether you’re into sweet toppings or something savory. Everything felt thoughtfully made, and the space has a welcoming, relaxed feel. One thing to note -not the café’s fault!- the surrounding area has a noticeable presence of homelessness. It didn’t take away from the experience for me, but it’s good to stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your belongings, both in and outside the café. Overall, I’d absolutely come back. Great coffee, great bread, and a cool spot to hang.

Lovely bakery and cafe. Food was so good we came back a second time! Particularly the grilled cheese sandwich was awesome. The area in which it’s located is a bit strange though, but unfortunately there is not much that the Nelson team can do about it. Once inside, you’ll be greeted by the lovely smell of fresh bread!

Terra Breads is a bakery with three locations offering a festive treat selection for pre-order throughout December. The menu includes Pistachio Croissants, Cashew Spiced Shortbread, Chocolate Coconut Macaroons, and Almond Macaroons. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and delicious coffee. The pastries are highly recommended, especially the croissants and chocolate-raspberry treats. The bread is described as soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.
Terra Breads at Olympic Village is generally well-regarded, particularly for its fresh bread, pastries, and sandwiches. Customers praise the quality of the baked goods, the pleasant atmosphere, and the cafe's location near the seawall and False Creek. While some reviews mention high prices and occasional busy periods, the overall sentiment is positive, with many customers highlighting the delicious food and enjoyable experience. From my personal experiences the staff is so friendly and it's also very DOG friendly. Sometimes the staff has treats in their pockets, what a nice surprise indeed. The breakfast paninis are good, and to my surprise the pizza items are fantastic. Bathrooms are a bit tight, that’s my only critique. As for their kitchen and prep areas, it’s very organized and clean.
Eddy W — Google review
Spacious seating area with lots of daylight from the high ceiling windows. I love Terra bread especially their black olive bread. I feel so sad they choose green olive bread over the black olive bread and now black olive is no longer available. We visit the shop today hoping to get the fig and anise bread but apparently it’s seasonal so they don’t have it today neither. Overall a solid bread maker with good sour dough based bread. Latte is normal.

Terra Bread is great place to have food in the Falls Creek area, perfect for breakfast and lunch. The Blueberry scones are a must-try, and their sandwiches and pizzas are equally impressive, made with healthy, flavorful breads. The double-baked almond croissant is unbelievably delicious. It is one of the best pastries I've ever had! Their selection of herbal teas and coffees offers something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for a robust coffee or a calming tea. The location is top-notch, with stunning sea views and a peaceful outdoor walking area that makes for a perfect setting to enjoy your meal. Highly recommended!

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the dessert. The chocolate croissant was flaky, buttery, and filled with rich, gooey chocolate that melted in my mouth. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Service: The staff at Terra Bread were friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Overall: Terra Bread is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality, artisanal baked goods. Butter Baked Goods Ltd is a beloved bakery in Vancouver's Mackenzie Heights, known for its nostalgic and comforting treats. Since 2007, it has been delighting customers with an array of fancy cookies, cakes, pies, and light breakfast and lunch fare. The vintage-inspired decor creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere reminiscent of a classic neighborhood bakery. Their menu is filled with timeless favorites made from scratch using high-quality ingredients.
i was sO happy to find a place that had mint chocolate cake because that is literally the dream. overall, the chocolate cake was super soft and moist and the perfect amount of sweetness, and although i did think the mint flavour wasn’t too overpowering, the buttercream was really kind of way too sweet. i had it with milk though, so that really helped. the cake was also a bit small for the price, and when we requested to have a light chocolate ganache coating on top, we were charged 16 dollars (which is way too much imo, especially when we already tipped a pretty good amount). not sure if i’d come back here for future cakes, but i did enjoy the mint cake.

We recently ordered a cake from Butter baked goods for our baby girl’s 6 month celebration. And all I can say is …..WOW🎂❤️ The cake was an absolute masterpiece- not just in taste but in presentation too. Every detail was so beautifully done, it looked almost too perfect to eat. But once we did , it was pure joy in every bite- soft , fresh, and full of delicious flavor. You can truly tell it’s made with love and quality ingredients. Thanks for butter team to making our special day with incredible cake. Thanks you for helping us create such a sweet memory. We will definitely be back for every celebration to come……

I don’t like writing bad reviews, but am frustrated at the misleading photos. See comparison. I ordered the floral meringue gift box, but received basically a temu version. Two pieces are tiny like popcorn and don’t even have leaves—so two people get sad meringues. $20 is wild for these. The plastic packaging also came with a deep dent; we are paying for this as a gift box, so the box should be in good shape. I cleaned off the meringue caked on the plastic before taking this photo, so this already looks better than when it arrived. Did something happen to Butter? It used to be fantastic.

I’m new to the neighbourhood. Drove by this quaint neighborhood coffee shop a few times. Then saw it on TooGoodToGo. So decided to grab a surprise bag to try it out. Came here just after 9am, after getting Mr TooGoodToGo, I also decided to get a croissant and flat white. The shop was super cute, very insta vibes with all the pies, cakes and other baked goods displayed. While I paid, I noticed a sign at cash register that they charge 2.4% for credit card. It said it was due to industry norm. Nope, this ain’t normal. I was a bit turned off by that. I Then grabbed a seat outside. It was located at a pretty busy intersection with morning traffic. My AirPod did the job. The morning sun was warm and it was still nice to chill with my coffee. Both the croissant and flat white was average, nothing to write home about. This will not be my regular neighbourhood spot. But nice enough for an occasional meet up with friends.

Came here on Wednesday and Friday to try a few different items. The savory Danish/croissant was porchetta and a hot honey mustard glaze. It was tasty and worth trying. Glad to see savory croissants making a come back. The lemon 🍋 danish is also solid. You don't feel like they went light on the filling. Tons of lemon to go around. The blackberry lemonade spritz is nice for a breakfast drink. Worth a stop if you're in Vancouver.

Loved the bread (of course!) and the pastries were a big highlight too, not too sweet, so you can really taste the fruit like fig and strawberry. Coffee was solid, and it’s such a nice spot to sit outside on a sunny day. It does get busy, so seating can be tricky, but overall a great bakery to relax and enjoy.

Delicious food and fantastic staff. I got the pasta which was one of the best pastas I have ever had. I got the cortada coffee which was amazing. I also took home a sourdough loaf which was perfect. Very happy with everything and will be returning for sure!

We LOVE this place. Our friend introduced us to the best Italian food (maybe on the whole west coast of North America) and now every time we are in Vancouver we make a stop for the carbonara! Dreamy and a really special place.
Bre B — Google review
Came by for lunch, ordered their Panzanella. Waited 40 minutes and what came was a giant bowl of greens with radish slices and cucumber. No tomatoes, no sourdough. They mentioned to my boyfriend they ran out of sourdough for his dish so gave him a baguette. Didn't say anything to me, didn’t give me any substitute, just left it out when it was served. We paid $52 without tip. Tip options were 18, 20 and 22% - for a "seat yourself" cafe. Cutlery is old as hell. Don't come here.
G H — Google review
The portion is way too small for a carbonara marked at $28 . The taste is awful, I wonder they put half bucket of salt in it. It’s the most salty food I ever put in my mouth. Not recommend to anybody. The rating 4.4 star is not matching anything as described .

Delicious but pricey. Breakfast for two was $70 Went with the Classico and a cappuccino- the sourdough bread was the highlight, perfectly crisp and gooey. No table service, order at the cash and they’ll deliver it to your table. Space is definitely packed on the weekends, often with a line up to or out the door. They have a heated patio as well as bar stools at the bar. Service was pretty fast but not overly friendly. Decor is cute. Glad I went but I won’t be rushing back. Happy hour 1-5pm.

We were driving by and decided to stop, not knowing what to expect. I ordered my usual cortado, almond croissant and baguette. My friend decided to order the mango and passionfruit cheesecake - those are ‘my flavours’ as I decided to the croissant and have the cheesecake also. Needless to say, everything was great… The coffee was strong but not bitter and the cheesecake had a nice crust, was tangy and not too sweet. Aswell, the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was done with a high quality. We’ll be back.

This is one of my favourite cafes because it's conveniently located within the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood! The interior is bright and pleasing, and the selection of pastries and drinks is good. Keep an eye out for seasonal features, especially the Vancouver Croissant Crawl! They had a special popcorn cream croissant that was unique and tasty! Service is pretty good and met my standards, and the atmosphere is great too! When the weather's nice and the patio is full, this cafe becomes a minor hub for community in the area. I've ordered several drinks and enjoyed all of them, and all the pastries and desserts I have tried were delicious! Highly recommend trying.

Had the ham and cheese croissant and the saumon (salmon) baguette. We expected them to be warmed up? Tucked away in the heart of Commercial Drive, The Bench Bakehouse is a charming bakery that specializes in traditional French-style pastries. With a reputation for offering an authentic experience reminiscent of bakeries in France, this hidden gem is known for its naturally leavened artisan bread, flaky croissants, morning buns, and seasonal fruit tarts. Using the freshest and highest quality ingredients, including organic and locally sourced ones whenever possible, they also offer a selection of sandwiches.
My friend and I were strolling along Commercial Drive when we decided to take a break and stumbled upon the perfect little pastry shop. Tucked away in a small mall, this hidden gem immediately caught our attention. My friend was especially thrilled to discover such a cozy spot. The shop itself is quite small, with only two or three seats available, so it’s not the most comfortable place to linger. However, the pastries looked incredibly fresh and inviting. We ordered the double-baked almond croissant, the chocolate orange morning bun and a shot of espresso. Every bite was delightful—the pastries were perfectly crisp, with just the right level of sweetness. The coffee complemented the treats beautifully, making the experience even better. Both my friend and I were thoroughly impressed and so glad we found this charming little spot. Truly a hidden gem worth discovering!

We first came across The Bench Bakehouse at a farmers market a few years ago, and now we visit their Commercial Drive location every now and then. Their kouign amann is a must-try, caramelized on top and soft and flaky inside. We also really like their baguettes, brioche buns, their croissants and pretty much everything they make. They serve coffee from Honest to Pete, and they offer frozen items you can bake at home, which is super convenient. Always a great stop.

I had the peach dessert, it was okay. The presentation was alright. The filling didn’t really taste that sweet. The cream kinda tasted like it had been refrigerated for a while and picked up other flavours from the fridge. And there was absolutely no crunch when biting into it - it’s very soft. Won’t be coming back.

I have visited this bakery a few times and previously bought the Strawberry Birthday Cake directly in-store. At that time, it looked exactly like the website photo – with a smooth dome shape, white pearls on top, and the texture was soft and creamy with a light vanilla and strawberry flavor. It was beautiful and delicious, which is why I decided to order it again for a family birthday. Unfortunately, my recent pre-order experience was very disappointing. The cake I received looked very different from the advertised picture and also from the one I had bought in-store before: the dome shape was missing, there were no decorative pearls, and overall it looked much less elegant. More importantly, when we cut into it, the cake layer was dry and hard, and the vanilla cream was not smooth or creamy but rather dense and heavy. The taste and texture were completely different from what I had enjoyed before. This was especially upsetting because I ordered it specifically for a family celebration and expected the same quality as my previous purchase. For the price, I had hoped for a consistent product. When I picked up the cake, there also seemed to be some confusion with my order. One staff member couldn’t find it on the daily order list, and another eventually brought a cake out from the back. I can’t be sure if this was related to the quality issue(wrong date?). The whole experience left me very disappointed.

The cashier almost shorted me five bucks, good thing I double-checked. The croissant filling was way too sweet, and the Canelé was greasy and hard — you could tell right away it wasn’t fresh or stored properly. Super disappointing, I’m never coming back.

I recently bought a pastry from your shop and really enjoyed it — it was excellent and tasted just like home (I’m French). However, I wanted to share some feedback about the service experience. I’m not sure if it was because it was close to closing time, but unfortunately the service was quite poor. When I arrived, I kindly asked if the shop was still open, as the sign said 6 p.m. and the door was open, and it was 6.10 p.m. The staff member, who was on her phone, replied, “Don’t you see it’s open?” She then asked me twice what I wanted to order within just a few seconds — I barely had time to choose! She didn’t hand me my item, offer me a receipt, or ask if I wanted one, and went back to her phone immediately after the payment was processed. It felt quite unpleasant. I wanted to let you know because the pastry itself was truly wonderful, and I’d love to come back — I just hope the customer experience can match the quality of your products.

Update photos on July 24 —— I occasionally visited this place since my friend loved it; the first time, I bought an almond croissant, which was too greasy; the second and third visits, I only ordered a hot beverage; my partner purchased some sweet treat for Christmas, so we went to this place to try what we might want. Overall, the staff hosted great hospitality, but the pastry matched better with hot tea.

The bakery prides itself on using sustainable ingredients from small family farms, setting it apart in the local bakery scene. Their commitment to sourcing responsibly ensures that each loaf of bread is not only delicious but also environmentally friendly.
** updated review! Fife reached out and let me try again. I came today with a friend. Retried the chocolate chip cookie was actually great! Soft and chewy! Yay! Also got a matcha mango iced soda water drink which was excellent. Thank you for following up! (Old review no longer relevant! But just to see how amazing the customer support is at Fife) Bought a chocolate chip cookie. It’s definitely over cooked. Tasted a little burnt. It doesn’t look like other peoples cookies :( that were posted. But the service and place is cute. I’m sure other things are good

Small, kind of out-of-the-way bakery and coffee shop. There are just a few stools set up inside and one picnic table outside but most people just take their orders to go so I have never had a problem getting one of these seats in the handful of times I’ve visited. Their baked goods and tea are both excellent. Their muffins/scones are soft and fresh, come in interesting seasonal flavours, and aren’t too sweet. I also bought a seasonal specialty bread loaf from them which was very good too. I appreciated the option to buy just half a loaf. Their tea lattes use high quality ground tea which makes them strong with a bolder taste than brewed tea. Honestly the service is kind of mixed; sometimes the baristas are friendly and sometimes they come off as aloof. I’ve never experienced bad enough that it would be a deterrent from coming here though.

Great pastries and coffee in Olympic Village. The place is quite small, but is great for to-go orders. Quality and fresh bread as well.

Delicious sausage roll & coffee. Went back twice in a day for it. Also, gotten the white loaf of bread. Unique texture, overall like it. Will visit here pretty frequently soon. Your Olive Loaf Bread & Raisins one is so delicious !!! Canelé here is very delicious !!! I spent my pastries money here often.

Top notch Bakery. Friendly Staff. Great Service. Fast Service. Good Prices for the area. If you’re looking for delicious bread or a delicacy of a tasty pastry this is a must stop. The Sausage Roll was delicious, the puff pasty was light and full of flavor. Cozy Atmosphere for a such a small place, but the welcoming atmosphere was refreshing compared to other bakeries I visited the same day. Their bathroom was super clean and had a super fancy toilet. The coffee left a pleasant smell in the air. They have a cute wall of dog pictures in the back for customers dogs. Overall this Bakery had one of the best vibes along with delicious treats.

Tucked into a quiet corner of the neighbourhood, this little bakery and coffee spot feels like a hidden gem. There are just a few seats inside and a picnic table out front, but I’ve never had trouble finding a spot—most people grab their orders to go. The baked goods here are thoughtfully made and always fresh. Their muffins and scones strike the perfect balance: soft, flavourful, and not overly sweet, with rotating seasonal varieties that keep things interesting. I also picked up a specialty bread loaf on one visit (they sell half-loaves too, which is great if you’re not feeding a crowd). The sourdough is easily one of the best in the city—crusty on the outside, tender inside, and just the right amount of tang. Stopping by this bakery always feels like a small moment of calm in the day. The smell of fresh bread in the car on the drive home is reason enough to go, but somehow the bread never quite makes it all the way there without a piece getting torn off.

Oh Sweet Day is phenomenal! I ordered a birthday cake for my girlfriend, and it was absolutely perfect. The cake was beautifully handcrafted with such attention to detail, it was truly a work of art. Not only did it look stunning, but it also tasted incredible! My girlfriend was over the moon about it and said it made her feel so special. The team at Oh Sweet Day clearly puts so much love and care into their creations. Thank you for making her birthday unforgettable! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for top-notch cakes that look amazing and taste even better! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i ordered the banana hazelnut cake for my birthday and WOW it was incredible. the banana cake was basically banana bread, and i loved how the banana taste was kinda subtle and not SUPER strong (i was a bit disappointed at first, but i think it worked out very well in the end). the chocolate buttercream in between was perfect — not too sweet at all; so you could have a lot without getting sick. PRO TIP : microwave the slice of cake for 7ish seconds after refrigerating it, and it makes the cake sOOOO soft and warm and comforting and the buttercream slightly soft and melty and sweet — it becomes so indulgent. the dried banana on top and hazelnut coating added the perfect crunch to every bite, and it really shows how much thought they put into perfecting the cake. i am definitely coming back to try other slice flavours and their mini cheesecakes.
Katelynn C — Google review
I was drawn in by the cheesecakes, and also tried some cake and cookies. The cheesecakes were perfect 💕 I had the lemon and salted caramel. The slice of cake, unfortunately, was dry. I would not have it again unless it was the first slice. I suspect it was dry (cake and icing) due to being precut. The flavour I chose was Oreo black sesame, it was perfect! And finally, the cookies. I had Earl Grey shortbread and malt white chocolate- both were excellent. Overall, I love the variety of favours; both clasic and unique flavour combinations. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try.
Andrea P — Google review
Had bought some mini cheesecakes and shortbread cookies back in 2020, and their goods are still as good as we remembered, in 2025. They offer a free mini cheesecake if you come on your birthday, so I took advantage of that offer and got their vegan/GF mini vanilla cheesecake. The vanilla flavour is subtle and creamy, which I enjoyed. Also purchased their lemon yuzu pistachio tart ($7.25), and ube mini cheesecake ($7.95). The ube cheesecake's pop of purple colour stood out, and despite its dense appearance, it was moist and light. Nice purple yam flavour, balanced with the graham crumb crust and crunchiness of the coconut shavings. The tart was beautiful to look at, so I went off of appearance. The pistachio whipped ganache was smooth, and the tart lemon yuzu curd was certainly fruity. The freeze dried lemon was too hard to chew, so it must just be decoration (aroma was noticeable though!). Their price point is higher than your standard bakery, but I think their innovative flavours make them stand out as a bake shop. Staff was helpful and friendly at the counter! They share a few parking spots with Red Burrito just behind the business. Would recommend, and look forward to trying more of their expansive selection (cheesecakes, tarts, cookies, shortbread cookies, cupcakes, cake pops) in the future.

We ordered the 8” Earl Grey Chestnut Cream Cake from Oh Sweet Day on Commercial Drive for a work celebration, and it was a hit with everyone! The tall, layered cream cake looked so impressive on the table. We all appreciated the smooth chestnut cream and its balanced sweetness, which is not too sweet, making it perfect for those who enjoy more delicate, Asian-inspired flavours. While we hoped for a bit more Earl Grey presence, the overall taste and texture were lovely. We would go back to try more of their creations! 📝📝 Sweetness: 🎂🎂🎂🎂 Taste: 😋😋😋😋 Presentation: 📷📷📷 Parking: 🚗 Limited customer parking behind the building, but there is street parking in the neighbourhood. Tips: 📝 Recommends checking their website and pre-ordering the cake in advance. 📝 Many cake options for birthdays, weddings, or any celebration. 📝 Open kitchen concept! Would I Return: Yes 🙋‍♀️

We ordered our wedding cake in the salted caramel. It was so good. We had our wedding at a camp ground and had to store the cake in a cooler for a couple days before the wedding. Oh Sweet Day bake shop was kind enough to wrap the cake box in saranwrap to help keep it fresh. That was so helpful. We loved the cake so much!

Stopped by on a whim while visiting from out of town and grabbed 2 slices of cake to celebrate my birthday - Black Sesame Oreo and Passionfruit Hazelnut. They were both lovely, though the Passionfruit Hazelnut was especially incredible! The unique blend of sweetness/tart flavor with the passionfruit curd and buttercream paired with the moist hazelnut cake was *chef’s kiss*

Le Gateau Bakeshop is a charming and cozy boutique bakery that specializes in creating unique cakes for special occasions, using only organic ingredients. Whether you're planning a wedding or any other celebration, this bake shop offers an array of elegant and colorful cake options with amazing texture and flavor. Customers praise the seamless experience from cake tasting to pickup, as well as the delicious taste of their lemon olive oil gateau.
We chose Le Gateau to do our wedding cake as they were easier, friendlier and cheaper than the other bake shop we looked into! We opted for a simple, snowy looking cake and when we got it, it looked perfect! I couldn't have dreamt it to be any better. The taste was amazing and we included a vegan top layer of the cake too. Either the regular or vegan layers tasted amazing though. I'd highly recommend Le Gateau to anyone who wants to get a cake, or even pop in for a treat!

Ordered and picked up a wedding cake tasting box of chocolate gateau, strawberry vanilla, salted caramel, and red velvet. Horrible. The only redeeming quality of the cakes was its presentation. Every cake, no flavour. Horrible texture. Told to leave them out for 2 hours. Left them out for nearly 8 hours. Cake was still solid as a rock. Icing tasted purely like butter with no sugar or sweetness at all. The actual cake part of the cake was so dense I could roll it into a ball of play dough and make shapes with it. Not kidding made my fiancé a heart shape and people with it. Most flavour in the box was not the cake itself but was the fruit on top of the cake. Do not recommend. If we could put zero stars we would. Our photos are what was left after trying the cakes (no desire to finish).

We had such a great experience with Tanya from Le Gateau Bakeshop for our wedding cake and cupcakes! From the first time we reached out, they were super friendly and took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. The cake and cupcakes turned out even more beautiful than we imagined — it was perfect! We went with carrot cake for hour 1 tier for us to cut and a mixture of carrot cake and red velvet cupcakes. And the best part? It was vegan-friendly and delicious — everyone kept telling us how moist and tasty it was. The team made the whole process easy and stress-free, and they really cared about making our day special. If you’re looking for a gorgeous cake that tastes amazing, I definitely recommend Le Gateau Bakeshop. They helped make our wedding day extra sweet!

We recently ordered a personalized cake from Le Gateau, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The cake itself was a masterpiece – beautifully designed and exactly what we had envisioned. But the real highlight was the taste. Every bite was a delight and the perfect amount of sweetness. Highly recommend!

I will never get over how incredible our wedding cake was! It was so easy to communicate with Tanya during the design process. She truly made my vision come to life! I’m forever grateful for such a detailed design and execution. Thank you again Le Gateau!

This review is a decade in the making, as Tanya has been a part of every major celebration I've had since moving to Vancouver. Weddings, Baby Showers, Birthdays and Graduations - all Le Gateau. My guests now save room for "double cake". Simply put she is the most talented baker in Vancouver. I've brought forward complex fondant ideas and they were executed perfectly. Her flavours are scrumptious and I now order multiples for any party. For my business events having a delish gluten free optíon is a must and Le Gateau always delivers. I know those reading these reviews are looking for insights on a big occasion. My advice to you is don't wait - get a 12 of cupcakes or 6 person off the shelf cake order today. You're not just supporting an local business's, but an artist at the top of her game.

I’ve been a regular customer for a long time but recently I ordered a wedding cake from Tanya. She listened to my vision and created a beautiful masterpiece for my intimate wedding. I also had to transport it on the ferry and she had it packaged so well, it arrived in one piece. From cake tasting to pickup, it was all very seamless and of course the cake tasted amazing. We chose the lemon olive oil gateau which tasted bright and not too rich. We’ll definitely order again when we have another occasion.

Coffee shop
Purebread Bakery + Coffee is a family-owned bakery that began as a home hobby, baking bread for loved ones. Their success at the Whistler Christmas Market led to the opening of their first shop in Whistler and later expanding to three locations in Vancouver. The bakery's mission is simple: to create delicious bread, savory dishes, cakes, and treats that bring joy to people's faces. One of their popular items is the Crack pie, inspired by Christina Tosi's famous creation.
Purebread is an absolute treasure for anyone with a love for baked goods! The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm, inviting smell of freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes that makes it impossible to leave without picking up a treat. The selection is incredible - from perfectly flaky croissants to decadent brownies and tarts, there's something for everyone. The quality of the ingredients shines through in every bite, and the presentation is always stunning. Whether you're popping in for a coffee and snack or taking home a box of goodies, Purebread never disappoints. It's easily one of the best bakeries in Vancouver. A must-visit for locals and tourists alike!

I love this place—so many delicious baked goodies! It looks like something straight out of a Smurf baker’s kitchen, beautifully arranged and inviting. I tried a scone made from corn flour, which was absolutely delicious. The drip coffee, however, wasn’t my favorite. I think I’ll stick to the baked goods and make my coffee at home next time. Still, a lovely spot for a treat!
Seda Y — Google review
Purebread lives up to the hype! Endless sweet and savoury baked goods - spent a good bit of time trying to pick which ones to try. The jalapeno cornbread was really good, as was the scone we had (I think raspberry). Wish we could come here every morning! There’s a ton of seating, staff are great too.

Purebread never disappoints! The display is stunning… it’s honestly hard to pick just one thing. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, and the quality really shows. The vibe is cozy, perfect for grabbing a coffee or catching up with friends. Staff is always friendly, even when it’s busy. Highly recommend the brownie and the scones, they’re amazing!

Came in for a lemon loaf and hot chocolate. It was really busy, and only one person on the cashier, I felt for the employee. However they were super nice and polite, our drinks came out in no time. I got a peanut brownie blonde to go, it's incredible!!
E M — Google review
One of the best bakeries in town in my opinion. The variety and presentation alone is enough to get 5 stars but then you try retry much anything and it's expertly done. We've picked up different little treats here and they've all been delightful. The lemon raspberry scone, cherry cheesecake and passion fruit loaf to name a few... all just simply excellent. This place is a must try.
Goli E — Google review
We first came across Pure bread in Whistler, and guessed that there must be something about it due to the long queues. We were pleased to find that there is a sister store in Vancouver, which we decided to seek out. The store in Vancouver was less busy, but that might have been just down to the time we visited (early PM). The first thing that grabs you is the sheer choice of items on offer, there is definitely something for everyone. We opted for a banana loaf, which was a decent portion size and very tasty. This was washed down with a flat white, which was also flavoursome. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Trevor H — Google review
Amazing display with many possibilities, nevertheless not the perfect place for breakfast for me as lot of pastries are fatty and savoury. Other occasions like lunch will be a perfect place ! Took the croissant, was a bit unflavored for me and I also took a good cappuccino.

Located in the lively Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver, Lee's Donuts has been a beloved food stall since 1979. This iconic shop is known for its exceptional service and mouthwatering donut creations. Despite potential wait times, visitors are captivated by the wonderfully soft, light, and flavorful donuts. The most popular item is the Honey Dip, a honey glazed handmade donut that has garnered a strong following over the years.
A must stop! Absolutely delicious cake donuts worth the wait in line and braving the crowds at the public market. The line moves quickly and the staff is very friendly. Donuts are a generous size and filling. Bavarian cream was fantastic and Lee’s does not skimp on the filling. You’ll be sorry if you visit Granville Island and don’t have Lee’s!

Lee’s Donuts is a Vancouver classic and totally worth the hype. The line was long when we arrived (wrapped around the building!) but it moved surprisingly fast. We tried a variety of their glazed donuts, including the famous Honey Dip, jelly donut, cookie monster and maple donut. Everything was super fresh, moist, and just the right amount of sweet. You can really taste the difference in quality. This was our second visit in four years, and both times the donuts have been consistently delicious. A must-stop if you’re visiting Granville Island!
Kingsville F — Google review
I am not a fan of donuts, but I still find Lee’s donuts pretty good! They were freshly made, and not too greasy. There is always a line, depending on the length, but it goes relatively quick. It is just for take out after all. If you buy six donuts, you can get a box. Now I finally understand why everyone walking around with a box in their hands! It would be much easier to carry the donuts away. We did not do that as there were only two of us. Would recommend that, though.

First time here& continuing my food tour of the city through Granville Island. I’m not a fan of cake donuts, but was pleasantly surprised at these donuts. The cake donuts were not overly dry & perfect for splitting between 3 people as a dessert tasting. We split the raspberry jelly donut which wasn’t overly sweet. We came at a good time on the weekend & didn’t have to wait very long in line. Per my cousin (who lives here) it is quite busy in the morning when they open up due to the fact that they have more varieties & the freshness of them. They have a big variety & I recommend trying them.
S W — Google review
Yummy & fresh donuts. I got the butter crunch, vanilla curd, and honey dip as recommended by the employee and enjoyed them all. Only downside was they came in a plain old paper bag - they had just glazed the honey dip so it made quite the mess… wish we got a box but you probably have to buy more to achieve that luxury lol. The logo & graphics of the business are super cute & memorable!
Danielle G — Google review
This is the most popular doughnut shop in the Granville market. There is always a queue at this location and the queue is long enough to extend out of the market. The service however is usually fast, but with only one person at checkout it does take time. Really liked the staff though who explained the type of doughnuts available and pricing around them. They do sell out of their trademark jelly doughnuts towards the end of the day. The pricing is better when three or more doughnuts are bought simultaneously. A nice place nothing extraordinary though.

Im a big sweets lover! Specifically donuts. This was suppose to be a cinnamon churro cake donut. It wasn’t good. Lacks flavor, the texture isn’t good. Dry. Took one bite and threw it out. Tim’s is better.. disappointing!
KAIT P — Google review
Lee’s Donuts was incredible when they first opened and quickly became a favorite on Granville Island. Over time, as they scaled, the quality seems to have gone down a bit. The donuts really need to be eaten the same day because they become hard relatively quickly. That said, they are still tasty, and my favourite is the bavarian which is always worth getting fresh.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some years now. Finally, I met up a friend here for our birthday back in the summer. Sadly, it turned out they did not have the restaurant anymore, just a bakery and bistro, but we decided to try it anyway. The menu was quite limited. Both our food and our drinks were only lukewarm. They did not taste bad, but it would be more enjoyable if served hot. This was a bit of wasting such a nice location.
Joey L — Google review
We went for The Bear Dinner. While each dish had its strong points, the money we paid - $125 + tax per person - was not worth it. The starting focaccia was rock hard and cold. It seemed like it was made this morning. You can cut the top of your mouth when eating it. I was expecting soft, warm, and buttery bread. The whipped ricotta dip and spicy honey was good though. The asparagus with quail egg was tasty, but it could have come with a little bit more ikura (and don’t market it as caviar). Again, maybe a few more asparagus would be nice! The cavatelli texture was great in my opinion- cooked al dente. However, the sauce was too salty and no one around us got any guanciale, even though it was listed as an ingredient. The flank steak was cooked nicely, and well seasoned, and cooked medium rare, but 4 slices instead of two would’ve been a better value for money. Two carrots, instead of one, would’ve rounded out the dish nicely. Before the dessert was served, they brought out dinner rolls. We were all confused as to what to do - eat it first? Is it supposed to be dipped in something? Then the dessert came. The salted caramel was overly salted, but the hazelnut mousse was ok and the chocolate pretzels were fine. The last thing were macaroons. Service was average. Our server wasn’t very friendly and never smiled. When I pointed out the missing guanciale the server did not come back for a follow-up. My overall experience was mildly disappointing and I would not recommend going next year. At $125 + tax you’re paying Michelin-level price, and this missed the mark.

Spacious and bright. Very good espresso drink and pastry. However, one star docked for atmosphere. One day, there's soft background music, the next it's loud pop. The latter is not conducive to working alone or visiting with someone.

The food was very good. Large seating area and outdoor patio. When dining in I would prefer that they take the food to your table rather than yelling out your order, I can understand if getting a coffee to go. Clean ...but I did not see any wiping down tables between customers. Staff were friendly. $$

I used to love this place and I came almost everyday. The Chicken and Bacon Sandwiches, soups, and sourdough breads were some of my favorites, and with reasonable prices. But since this place renovated, some of the prices increased or doubled. I stoppped coming for awhile, but today, I decided to pay them a visit. I saw the same friendly staff who used to help me, Lily, who greeted me enthusiastically. I ordered a Mediterranean Tuna Sandwich on multi-grain. I loved the artichoke, and the textures and flavours were also amazing. I'm glad to come back.

We tried them out during Dine Out Vancouver 2020, and we were very impressed. Our server was very attentive, patient, and funny. He made sure we had a great time. And the food? Excellent, right from the plating down to the dessert's smallest morsel. Highly recommended.
Ronnie F — Google review
This review is strictly on the baked goods and pastries and not on the restaurant food. I ordered the black forest, mille fueille and a berry danish to go. The total came up to around $19-20. The black forest was definitely on the sweeter side. The cherries on the inside are soaked in alcohol which I liked as it is a black forest. The cake itself wasn't too dry but I felt like there was too much mousse and it was just too sweet for me personally. The mille fueille was definitely the best out of the three desserts. The layers of puff pastry was nice and crispy and light. Very buttery. The diplomat cream wasn't too sweet and was well balanced. Berry danish was the biggest disappointment out of the three. It was not crispy at all, almost to the point where it was tough. It wasn't flaky and pretty disappointing. Overall the items were pretty disappointing especially for the price. I did love the decor and this would probably be a great place to chill and catch up with friends but not for the good but for the ambiance.

Bel Café Downtown is a stylish counter serve offering craft espresso blends, housemade pastries, and sandwiches. Operated by Chef David Hawksworth, this chic and modern café specializes in delightful fare such as macarons with flavors like cookies and cream, passion fruit, vanilla bean, key lime, strawberry & lemon. In addition to the delectable pastries, Bel Café also excels in muffins, scones, danishes and light lunches.
I’ve always loved Bel Café; the vibe and energy are uplifting and refreshing. The staff are genuinely warm, and the customer service has always stood out. Recently, I’ve been visiting more frequently due to work and meetings, and each time makes me want to come back even more. The savory treats are delicious, the space is impeccably clean, and the atmosphere is unlike any other café. It’s a place that truly cares, and it shows.

I used to come to Bel Café for coffee and pastries, and it was always a nice treat. I went back this weekend for breakfast, hoping for the same experience, but it missed the mark. My partner’s burrito came out with the wrap almost burnt and still cold inside. My avocado toast was just… okay. The bread wasn’t freshly toasted or even warm, and it didn’t feel like anything special. At least the coffee was good! For the price, though, I expected more. Not the Bel Café I remember.

Very pleasant Cafe at 2pm on a Thursday in August. The decaf cappuccino was a little on the bitter side but not a complaint as my wife likes her coffee that way. It was nicely accented with the fig pastry we ordered. My wife reports that the washroom was very clean. We would recommend this place.

We’ve been coming here for breakfast and and lunch for years—we love their food and bakery pastries. However, the parking and traffic in downtown have become difficult and expensive, which is why we hadn’t visited in a while. But while running errands in downtown recently, I decided to stop by, and I was reminded of how much I love this place. So much so, that I ended up visiting twice this week! Many reviews mention that the prices are on the higher side, but I found the quality and pricing to be very competitive, especially with their daily deals, which are great value. On Tuesday, I had a breakfast sandwich and drip coffee. The breakfast sandwich was exceptional, elevating simple ingredients to a new level. The combination of flavorful mushrooms, crispy bacon, soft eggs, and fresh arugula on the perfectly fresh bread was hard to beat. The drip coffee was equally impressive, with its fruity notes and excellent balance. On Friday, I bought two bakery items to take home: a vegan Earl Grey loaf and Cherry, Dark Chocolate & Vanilla Pain Suisse! They looked beautiful and fresh. For breakfast, I enjoyed the daily deal—avocado with fried egg on sourdough toast and another drip coffee. Once again, I was not disappointed. The egg yolk was perfectly runny, and the toast was spot-on. However, there is some room for improvement. After placing my order, no one called out when it was ready, so I ended up waiting longer than necessary on Tuesday. Today, they forgot to include my coffee. It feels like there’s a lack of attention after the payment process.

The food and drinks here are top quality as far as coffee shop fare goes. They often have unique seasonal food and drinks. The sandwiches are delicious, filling, and interesting. They're made to order. For baked goods, the scone and plain croissants are good but not especially remarkable, but the desserts are very good and beautifully crafted. Great drinks too, both the coffee/tea and cold beverages. The food prices are notably higher than average for downtown cafes; I think sandwiches are like $16+ if I remember correctly. You get what you pay for but it's still enough that I come here for lunch as an occasional treat rather than a common thing. The baristas are generally friendly. Never too long of a wait for food when factoring in how busy they are. They do get busy and it's often loud inside, so I would not recommend coming here for long periods to do work, it's more of an coffee and chat place.

Stumbled on this gem while staying in Downtown Vancouver and looking for a great Latte. This is a cute place and is busy in the morning! I had a 12oz Vanilla Latte that was excellent. We shared a breakfast sandwich and a strawberry danish - both very good! The Danish was a little on the sweet side so keep that in mind when ordering. We have one more morning here and I’ll be back to try another pastry and of course another Latte!

This is a cozy little cafe located inside Rosewood Hotel Georgia. I had a cappuccino with vanilla syrup, it was perfect, with an intense flavor, and a creamy texture. The breakfast sando , piled with scrambled eggs was perfectly toasted.

Visited Bel Cafe and was impressed with the quality of their coffee and food. The coffee was very smooth and had a rich flavor. The food was of high quality and preparedness, and the pastry was excellent, especially the danish. I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great cup of coffee and delicious food.

Stuart's Bakery, located at 1689 Johnston St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9, Canada, is a haven for sweet lovers. The bakery offers a wide variety of delectable treats such as cakes, cookies, tarts, and pastries that are almost too beautiful to eat. Their artisan breads are handcrafted using traditional baking methods and baked in a Winkler Stone Deck Oven to ensure exceptional taste and quality.
We made a stop at Stuart's Bakery on Granville Island to pick up some pasties. The cheese cake Danish was definitely a highlight and made the trip worthwhile. The food surpassed our expectations and the service was efficient, especially considering the crowd at the market.

My Dad and I strolled by and had to stop to pick up some fresh baked goods and desserts to enjoy on our trip. We delighted in the brownies, cookies, and cupcakes while admiring the plethora of baked goods on display. The line was long but the staff handled it quickly; it was well worth the short wait. I enjoyed my cupcake while watching a few seagulls play over the waterfront at the market - a perfect afternoon!

Lots of choices, but I can only pick a few after I had lunch. I had to get a cinnamon roll sticky bun ($6.50). Not one bite was dry - not even the outside. It was so good and sweet. Then I got a double chocolate cookie ($3.25). It had a nice chewy texture for being a thin cookie, but wasn’t that rich. It needed more butter and lacked that chocolate taste. It was also disorganized. There were like three different lines, and people were confused on where to order. The staff was average - they didn’t have much enthusiasm and didn’t smile much.
The D — Google review
Stuart’s Bakery on Granville Island is a must find! It is located inside the public market. The bakery is filled with amazing selection of sweet treats / baked goods. Everything is always freshly baked and all so good; such a treat especially for people with a sweet tooth like me. Be prepared to line up especially on the weekends but it usually goes by pretty quick. The staff are always friendly and helpful with recommendations and will gladly answer all your questions. Just a tip, try and browse through the selections first before lining up (if there’s a line up). This will help expedite things when ordering and paying. My personal favourite is the Apple caramel cheesecake, New York cheesecake, crème brûlée and a few of their croissants. Their cheesecakes are creamy but not over powering. Their croissants are light, buttery and just the kind of crunch. Whether you’re craving for treats or for a special occasion, be sure to try a few baked goods when you’re at Granville island public market. It’s also nice to enjoy a cup of coffee with it and enjoy it outside.
Ivee M — Google review
The pasties looked so appealing that I wanted to try them all, but turned out they were just okay. Though, their take out box is pretty cute. I got a matcha cheesecake and a pistachio tart. The cheesecake had a dense texture, which I prefer. The matcha flavor didn't really stand out though. I could taste the slight bitterness of matcha (which is good), but the scent and richness of matcha didn't stand out. The pistachio tart was quite disappointing. The crust was completely soggy. The filling was like liquid and dripped everywhere when I ate it. Not the texture I was hoping for in a tart.
C C — Google review
This is located in the Granville Island Public Market. The cakes were delicious. It's difficult to find a seat and table to probably enjoy the cake.
Kai S — Google review
Really cool cinnamon records are like a giant crispy palmier. Delicious ...bedr with tea or coffee. Their nanaimo bar is best eaten cold. The base of the bar is scrumptuous. The overlying layer is more cream then custard.
Irtaza T — Google review
Located in Granville Public Market, Stuart’s Bakery has attracted many tourists and formed a long line. We got hot cross bun, blueberry scone and nut & seed brittle. They displayed their baked goods really well and we were tempted to buy everything. However, the baked goods were just okay. Touristy price and mediocre quality. Totally skippable. Save room for better food in the market.

A Bread Affair is a boutique bakery that has been serving organic, artisan breads, breakfast pastries, cookies, and sandwiches for over 15 years. The original location off the Langley Bypass has become a popular destination known for its unique product names like the 'Better Than Sex Brownie.' One of their signature offerings is the True Love Marquis, an ancient heirloom grain sourdough made with Marquis wheat.
《 🥐🥖 ARTISANAL ORGANIC BAKERY 🥖🥐 》 📍1680 Johnston St, Vancouver, BC - puffy cheese pillow = $5.50 - - lemon cream scone = $5.50 - - pain au chocolat = $5.75 - - double baked pistachio croissant = $7.50 - - blueberry bread pudding crumble pie = $4.50 - Imagine walking around on Granville Island, and you're suddenly captivated by the aroma of steamy hot pastries, fresh out of the oven. I don't think anything can beat that! 👌 At A Bread Affair, you will find a selection of delicious classics like their pain au chocolat 🥐, or more unique seasonal items like their blueberry crumble pie! 🫐 Not only that, they also make many sourdoughs and other loaves of bread 🍞 in house. If you're too hungry to wait until you get home, you can pick up one of their fresh sandwiches to go for a nice, quick bite! 🥪 I really enjoyed all of the pastries I tried, but the lemon cream scone really stood out for me. The lemon flavour was perfectly balanced with the butteriness of the scone. The little pockets of cream cheese added a nice bit of textural variation too. 🍋 (Btw, the double baked pistachio croissant is only available on the weekends, so definitely keep that in mind! 🤫) Thank you to A Bread Affair for this wonderful opportunity! I can't wait to be back ✌️ #gifted

Their organic Marquis bread (named True Love) is pretty good. Perhaps even slightly better than Terra Breads’ Heritage sourdough. However, I do not like their breakfast products. The brioche gave me allergies. Additionally, I made my breakfast sandwich vegetarian by adding another egg (they offer this option which is nice in theory but), apparently they reheated a cooked but frozen egg from frozen (as the add-on egg) and it was green. You can see in the picture. I checked with them and actually that’s how I know this. I’m not even sure if this is good. I mean even if it may be edible and safe according to regulations or whatever but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good thing.

Everything in this bakery is amazing from the many varieties of bread to sandwiches and pastry. My favorite bread are the Marquis and olive bread! Excellent service. Sunita is professional and kind like the others. Go and visit this bakery in Granville island.

We visited this bakery, and I loved it! They had a pistachio croissant with a pistachio filling, it was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best I’ve had in town! Unfortunately, they don’t sell coffee because of Granville Island’s restrictions. It seems like coffee shops can’t sell bakery items, and bakery shops can’t sell coffee. A bit unusual, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the croissant.

Incredible Art in pastries. This is high-quality gourmet, intelligent, incredible. Desserts, and incredible breads. This is your place to go on grandma Island. Definitely it’s worth the trip.

A Bread Affair makes excellent food, always fresh, flavorful, and high quality. Unfortunately, during my last visit the cashier at the front had very noticeable body odor, and it wasn’t just me who noticed, other customers around seemed uncomfortable as well. When working in a food establishment, especially while serving customers, maintaining personal cleanliness is really important. The food is outstanding, but I’d recommend management consider a clear hygiene policy (such as ensuring staff wear deodorant) so the service experience reflects the same high standard as the food.

Bâtard Bakery is a cozy spot on Fraser Street that offers a delightful selection of breads, pastries, and light meals made with local ingredients. The bakery's inviting interior provides the perfect setting to savor their top-notch baked goods while enjoying hot drinks. This French-style bakery, cafe, and grocer is owned by the Born family who drew inspiration from their European travels.
I absolutely loved this place and will definitely be coming back! If you’re someone who enjoys supporting local shops with a nostalgic, authentic vibe, this is a must-try. I ordered a turkey sandwich, and they took the time to warm it up — it turned out perfect. The bread was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, which really made the sandwich stand out. They also had a nice selection of homemade items like jams, and I’m honestly regretting not trying some while I was there. Yes, the prices are a bit on the higher side, but that’s pretty common in local, independently run shops — and to be honest, the quality and experience make it worth it. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It feels like stepping into a shop from 60 years ago, with a warm, welcoming environment and a sense of tradition that you don’t get in big chains. Everything from the service to the details in the décor made it a memorable visit. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their offerings!

I was really disappointed with my recent visit. The mushroom soup was incredibly thin, more like flavoured water than an actual soup. It lacked both flavour and substance. The roast beef sandwich was also underwhelming. There wasn't enough meat, and what was there was dry and bland. The bread was fine, but it couldn't make up for how unbalanced and unsatisfying the sandwich was overall. For the price, I expected much better.

I have been coming to this bakery for many years, it always makes my day! The food is great, the baked goods and desserts are so beautiful, even if I choose to skip them, they are a visual delight! I think what draws me back again and again is that when I step through the doors, I feel transported to France. Plus the service has remained the same good standard over the years, I can tell that staff are happy to work there. When I have friends visit from out of town, Batard is on our Vancouver "must visit" list!

I finally had a chance to visit this place. There was a great selection of pastries and quite an impressive brunch menu as well. However, for the big crowd that they have, it was hard to make decision, as their pastry display was quite small. Their drink menu was tucked away on the side wall, next to the cash register. For a first timer, the long line up and to make a very quick decision on the pastries was rather overwhelming. We had the almond croissant and the savory Danish, both were absolutely delicious. Pastries were super flaky. The coffee was quite a wait, but it was very busy as well. Although their latte and mocha was not outstanding, but it was better than most I have tried. Seating in the cafe was at a premium there, so be prepared to be standing or there was plenty of seating outside as well.

A very exquisite bakery with a wide variety of beautifully displayed breads. The dining area and food section are separated. I ordered a rosemary potato tart and an Americano. There’s even a bread slicer in the store, which is very convenient。

Found this bakery recently. The breads are always flavorful and perfectly crusty, the pastries are flaky and not overly sweet, and the café atmosphere makes it a pleasure to stop in. It’s wonderful to find an authentic Italian bakery that also offers a nice selection of Italian goods. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Highly recommended!

Ladurée is an upscale bakery originating from Paris, renowned for its exquisite French macarons available in a variety of flavors. The brand's arrival at Robson Street in 2016 brought a touch of romanticism from France, offering a vibrant tea service featuring seasonal fruit and Chantilly cream, as well as visually stunning cakes with fragrant floral and luxurious chocolate or nutty elements.
Charming Parisian spot in Vancouver! Ladurée’s macarons are delicate and beautifully packaged—perfect for a treat or gift. Loved the elegant interior and patio. A bit pricey and can get crowded, but worth it for the experience. Loved the berry one the most!

I took my wife and my two daughters. I must say that this place is very magical! Super clean and tidy. Very stylish. The coffee was super nice. I’ve had the ice cream before which is super good and dense (French ice cream) the washroom was super clean. Definitely will be back!!!! Price maybe slightly higher than usual, but who cares we live ones and this is a very nice experience.

This is our favorite cafe in Vancouver. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, valentine's...etc here and they never disappoint. The staff is always welcoming, the dessert always incredible, and the tea always exquisite. This is the place we rave about to our friends all the time. Treat yourself and give it a visit.

Canada's first laduree, on Robson. This shop has been known to be a luxurious brand. Ladurée Boutique and Tea Salon features much more than just macarons (essentially that's what they are known for) but they do offer viennoiseries, teas, jams and perfumed candles and home fragrances. The line ups were long from the start of their grand opening, but have now eased up. They have about 20 seats inside. I bought a box to try. I have to admit, they are pretty good. If you want an upgrade on the box and packaging, an extra fee is applied.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere here! I ordered the ISPAHAN and the Pistachio, and both tasted amazing. As an Iranian, seeing “ISPAHAN” on the menu gave me such a special feeling 🥹 You could really taste the rosewater and saffron, which are so unique to Iran 🥲 I think we also ordered the Rose drink and a latte. Highly recommended for a delightful afternoon treat 😍

If you love macarons, this is the number one place to visit. Ladurée is a must visit if you ever go to Vancouver for a visit or even live here. The bakery sells the world's best French macaron's and even sells all sorts of other desserts inside. Everything is created with high ingredients and is very delicious 😋 You can take to go or you can actually sit in the back in the French styled tea room. It's actually very nice and makes you feel like stepping back in time. You might have never heard of Ladurée, which I was the same until I visited this bakery that specializes in French macarons. If you've never heard of it please search it up and look at the long history of Ladurée as it's very interesting. If that history alone doesn't sell you on visiting here, please just go in and purchase one baked good here cause I'm telling you this now. It will blow your socks off it's that good 😋 It can be a little pricey but it's totally worth it as you're paying for the higher end ingredients and some of the best macarons in the world 🌎

The Gluten Free Epicurean is a charming bakery with a bright, all-white interior. Located in a trendy area just off Kingsway and Fraser, it offers an array of gluten-free delights such as pastries, doughnuts, pizza, sandwiches, and more. The menu features an assortment of sweet and savory items including various pizzas (including vegan options), mini-quiches, muffins, tarts, cupcakes, cookies, cinnamon buns, apple fritters and ice-cream sandwiches.
IF I COULD GIVE MORE THAN 5 🌟 I WOULD. My mother and I are allergic to gluten and since we found this bakery we now have a favorite spot to go when we want to treat ourselves to some goodies. We absolutely adore Alex and Albert, they always make us feel welcome and taken care of. Alex is a ray of sunshine, always smiling and good vibes ✨️. Recently brought my boyfriend, who isn't gluten free but all the same absolutely loves this bakeries treats. 🍪 🥐🧁 Will always recommend the gluten free epicurean to everyone.

The bakery sells fresh baked goods, pizza, in addition to frozen and pantry items, and supplies (including from other vendors). I took out a variety of items and all were good. My favourites were the Salted Rosemary Olive Oil Chocolate Chip cookie ($4.20), Ginger Cookie ($3.95) and Carrot Cake ($5.50). I love savoury sweets and the rosemary was so fragrant and inviting! The ginger cookie was well executed, good sugar top, and a nice size for the price. The carrot cake was well-balanced, moist, and the vanilla bean icing was aesthetically added. The muffin of the day (chocolate coffee cake - $4.25) was just alright, as was the Rainbow Blondie ($5.50). The Lemon Coconut Bar ($4.75) was nice and fruity, but a little crumbly for our preference. Kind and patient staff, especially for those unsure of their order as first time customers! A lot of others came to take out items while we visited on a Friday morning. They have a small table outside, but no seating inside their storefront. With so many options and rotating flavours of the day, you can try something new every visit. Most of their items are also vegan, nut free and/or dairy free, etc. and are labelled. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning.

They offer a 100% gluten free menu with locally sourced and organic ingredients. I was passing by here to kill some time before an appointment. It's a cute little place and it's set up very nicely with high quality items. I got the chocolate raspberry cupcake and a regular coffee. Mind you it is pretty expensive but the ingredients are definitely better for you, also high quality. My cup cake was absolutely delicious and my coffee was a great start to the day. I would definitely return for their baked goods. I love supporting gluten free stores here in Vancouver.

Swiss Bakery in Vancouver is a beloved spot known for its creative sweet and savory baked goods. It's famous for being the first bakery in the city to offer cronuts, and it also serves unique items like the Pumpkin Seed Ale Sourdough. The bakery has been a staple in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood for over 20 years, offering homemade baked goods, sandwiches, and soups.
You know how most gingerbread houses sit and attract dust and then get thrown out? Not this one…. Delicious. My adult kids started devouring it before they finished decorating it. Great value. Great fun. Great idea.
Liz M — Google review
Swiss Bakery serves an array of sweet and savoury baked goods, sandwiches, and coffee. Located on a relatively quiet street. Kind of a small place with a lot of the space taken up by the food cases, but they have a few large tables inside and more small tables on the patio. I dropped in for lunch and ordered a veggie breakfast sandwich, a slice of turtle cake, and a purple rain tea (their tea list had a few uncommon options which was cool). The breakfast sandwich was delicious. It came on a fresh pretzel bun which was the highlight, but the filling was also very tasty. Very satisfying portion size. The cake was good. I was there pretty early for lunch, maybe 10:30, and the person taking my order warned me that the cake had been frozen and might not be defrosted yet, but I ordered it anyway and by the time I ate it there was no trace of frost. It was pretty sweet but the slice wasn’t too big so it was fine. Just a little heavy on the frosting. The prices were very reasonable. I was told they would bring my food to my table and assumed that also meant my drink, but when they brought my food out they told me to come get my drink inside. I’m getting picky, I was annoyed that my tea came in a paper cup when I ordered for here. But the staff were friendly. I keep forgetting this place is here because it’s not directly on my path even though I pass by it most days just one street over, but I’ll try to remember it and visit again.

If you are looking for a cozy coffee spot in Mount Pleasant, definitely stop by. This local coffee shop and bakery has a warm atmosphere and reasonable prices (slightly higher). It's perfect for a quick bite or grab and go, not the best for sit down dinning. Outdoor seating is available but not outstanding. The food offerings are decent, although the sandwiches could use more flavour and the artisan bread and treat options were limited. However, with 30 years of serving the community, it's a reliable choice. Please note that they now only operate on weekdays. Overall, a decent option for those in the area. I can't vouch for the entire menu, as I haven't tried everything myself. If you’re in the area, looking for a quick bite, definitely stop by!

I used to get a sandwich for under 10 dollars for the last 15 years with my 10% discount because I work nearby. Sandwich prices have risen and no more 10% discount means with a tip my sandwich is now over 15 dollars. The herb chicken was very bland, tasteless and was so greasy in the middle.....Goodbye Swiss Bakery. Also , there was no baked goods, soup and they had all these pre-made frozen meals (gross)....Good bye!

First time we went to this bakery shop was in an afternoon, not much too choose from, almost out. Second time we were here again, love their double almond croissant, even though the filling is a bit too sweet for me. Was looking to buy their four cheese frissant, but wasn't in. They do change their frissant flavour each month.

Came across this place last week with the wife and kids. So many options we honestly Couldn't even decide what to have so we just ordered a bunch of recommendations made by the staff. Everything was great. The kids loved the doughnuts. Sorry they ate Em before I could snap a picture lol... Bit of a trek for us from North Burnaby, but definitely will go back when in town. Thanks for the sugar rush 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

Visited on Wed, Sept 17 at 2:45pm. No nice greeting, just a blank stare.. then after a few long seconds it was, ‘what can I get for you?’ As if I just interrupted her day. There was no one else in the store! Anyway, I bought a small box of random items. Their large, double fudge brownie was a day old, but delicious (and well sized). However, the rest of the items were basic at best.. specifically their donuts! Good lord, extremely dry and old!! They sadly don’t even stack up to the quality of Tim’s or 7eleven. And don’t get me started on their walnut cake.. a McCains Deep and Delicious surpasses its freshness. The kicker in all of this….. is the price! And then.. they want a 15% + tip at the end! Lol. Ohhh helll naw. Sorry, I’ll pay extra for a decent product (like their brownie), but with the majority of products small and bland, not to mention the utter lack of enthusiasm or sincere interest in their customers, I will not be returning. It’s important to support small businesses, but it’s hard when Tims or 7Eleven will at least provide a {genuine} “hello” and smile. ** Response to Owner ** The place was quiet! Almost deadsville.. and i was welcomed with the most inhospitable stare. Like I said, “it took a few long seconds” before i was greeted with a lack luster, “what can I get for you?” I was so disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm / care, I left the store, sat on the concrete curb, ate one of my donuts (which was small and dry) and posted a 3 star review… However, when I went home and shared the rest with my wife, she was like, “these are stale!” Then I demoted you to a two star review! The HONEST REALITY is: 1). Your staff member was borderline RUDE and 2). the donuts I bought were absolutely STALE! And 3). Instead of trying to solve the problem you became defensive. Anyway, maybe I should give u another try in a few months. Maybe not. Either way, good luck. Hope u can take some of these learnings and strengthen your operations.

Ordered a day prior: sticky cinnamon buns. When I picked up my order the following day, the store changed the order (without informing me) from "sticky" to "glazed" (or iced) cinnamon buns as shown in the order note. The lady at the counter couldn't explain why it was changed and who changed it from their side. She offered to order the right one and if I would come back the next day and pick up the right variety. I was already there, so I declined and picked the glazed one. It would have been less inconvenient if someone called me about it before i picked it up at the designated time. I suspect that the store may have given my order to someone else and replaced it with what was available when I came to pick it up. Though it wasn't what I ordered, the glazed cinnamon buns were fresh, moist, and dense. It was reasonably priced too. The bakery looks very impressive, quite contemporary, and clean with a variety of tasty pastries and delis at fair prices. Happy to find this bakery in the Whiterock area - a real hidden gem! I would give them another chance when i order sticky cinnamon buns again next time. UPDATE: Ordered a Pineapple Upside Down Cake (PUDC) for my wife's birthday. She tasted this from Hillcrest Bakery last year and she couldn't stop talking about how moist, rich and delicious it was! However, Hillcrest stopped selling it for a while. Called to order and Michelle arranged with the masterful baker. My wife was incredibly surprised when the cake was presented on her birthday. It made her birthday - and she enjoyed and savoured the cake tremendously! Hillcrest, a real precious gem in the Whiterock community. The PUDC was heavenly, a true timeless and retro treat - the best PUDC on earth! thank you Michelle and Hillcrest Bakery!

By far my absolute favourite place to come. It's the perfect one stop shop, whether you want sandwiches, sweet treats, custom cakes and bakery platters, dinner, or even high tea! Hillcrest bakery does it all. The atmosphere is always kind and welcoming and the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell. I normally struggle to make choices there because of all the wonderful tasty options they provide, the staff always know what to recommend every time I visit. My sons favourite is their Oreo donut and I always have to get the kit kat cannoli

I woke up early on a holiday Monday and decided to buy doughnuts as a treat. I placed an order for seven donuts. I specifically chose Hillcrest rather than a chain store because I figured with it being a bakery they would be better. I regret that choice. The donuts were shockingly stale and clearly not fresh; that affected their taste and texture. Not even microwaving them for a bit could rescue these donuts. While I can’t speak to the rest of their baked goods the donuts were a massive miss.
Karen M — Google review
Just very dissapointed with my experience, ive been reccomended Hillcrest by so many people. But for me, it didn't add up to the hype. I was after a fresh gooey cinnamon bun, but they felt very dry. The pista eclair was good but very exspencive, the children enjoyed the mini donuts, though I didn't try it. Our cookie was quite dry, and seemed to be a day old? Coffee was okay drip but overpriced. I guess i had hoped for a more full/stocked counter for 12pm. Staff was kind, cheerful, and helpful.

Bakery
Seasons Bakery is a charming, family-owned bakery that offers a delightful selection of delicate French pastries, breads, and gluten-free options. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a favorite spot for locals. Customers rave about the on-point coffee drinks and delicious pastries like the chili cheddar green onion scone and double baked hazelnut croissant. The matcha croissant filled with luxurious matcha almond cream is also highly recommended.
Fantastic pastry with even better coffee. I know their hours are limited, but it’s very worth the visit. While we were savouring our pastries outside, basically everyone walking on that side of the street was entering the bakery. We had the double baked hazelnut croissant (2), ham and cheese (2), chilli cheese scone and almond croissant (if you get a box of 6 you get taxes off). Drip coffee is from Timbertrain, delicious! The couple that owns it is super super sweet, wishing them a lot of success👏🏼

What a lovely bakery on Commercial Drive! Was intrigued by their Instagram posts so I finally decided to drop by for some baked goods. Their shop is a little small, so only two people inside at a time. There was no line when I dropped by at 11am on a weekday. Onto the goods! Wow, the double baked croissants are delicious. They have a great crunch, and the matcha one was amazing and not overly sweet. The cream puffs are absolutely wonderful as well. Their peppermint hot chocolate cream puff is their December special and it tasted so festive! Be sure to go early if you want any particular goodie! Thankfully they had a new batch of matcha croissants out the oven when I went, but they were already sold out of the Mexican hot chocolate croissant :( Will have to go back for sure!

I got to try Bakery Sate for the first time the other day and had a great time. I tried their matcha croissant and a london fog. The matcha croissant is filled with a luxurious matcha almond cream and topped with a baked almond paste. The croissant was huge and well filled, it took me a while to work through. The london fog was perfectly flavored, bold enough Earl Grey with good body. I can't wait to go and try more items! There is no seating indoors at the moment, so we took our treats outside. I believe there were two tables outside, which was helpful, but also I had hoped to sit inside and wish I could've found that information somewhere! Totally not blaming the establishment, I know they can't be at full capacity, but I hope this review helps others know what's happening!

Been driving past this bakery for quite sometime now and have been meaning to stop by. Here are my thoughts on my overall experience. Quality - the pastries were well made for what they are. My wife enjoyed their croissant French toast (I didn't care for it as much) both my wife and I enjoyed the cream puffs though. Good flavour and nice texture. The croissant was good, but not sure If I feel the price to quality was up to par. There are a couple of other places in vancouver/Burnaby in which I'd go to over this one for croissant. The matcha latte was quite authentic (this can be good or bad depending on what you are use to) the flavour was just steamed milk and the slightly bitter taste of matcha which is how it is made if you don't add any sugar to it. This may be off putting to people who are use to having matcha drinks at places that infuse sugar/syrup into them. Also for the price to size of cup that you get I am not sure if I'd choose to go for it again. My wife and I would return for the cream puffs and croissant French toast though :) Service - the gentlemen who served us was very friendly. The lady who was busy mixing and baking was also nice. She took the time to say hi to us through the glass even though she was clearly busy. I didn't experience the slow service that others had mentioned in this review thread but I guess that could be also due to the fact that there was no one ahead of me when I got there. Cleanliness - couldn't rate this too much as we have no access into the bakery at this time due to covid. We placed our order and picked up our food at the front door (separated by plexi glass) Overall it was a nice experience and will come back for the noted croissant French toast, cream puffs and friendly service.

Hands down the best double-baked almond croissant I've had anywhere, not just Vancouver. Chris and Melanie are excellent hosts and take pride in what they do. An absolute must if you're in East Van!

Cute bustling shop with lots of baked goods and an espresso machine. Unfortunately the almond croissant was less buttery and sweet than I expected and the chai latte was weak. Only closed Monday as of Feb 2020.

A gem bakery shop with amazing selections. Super helpful and friendly staff who is patient in explaining all the product to us. The bakery is also very reasonable priced. I love their croissant, if you feel you need something extra then try their double baked croissant. The filling is so tasty and creamy. They also have good social distance rules that restrict store capacity which we felt safe with.

Flourist Bakery, located in East Vancouver, is not your average artisan bakery. Founded by Janna Bishop and Shira McDermott, the bakery takes pride in its 100% transparency approach to business. By working directly with Canadian farmers, Flourist ensures that their milled flours, grains, and dried goods have traceable origins.
Our Favorite Weekly Café Stop – Flourist Bakery Flourist Bakery has quickly become one of our most frequently visited cafés lately, and for good reason! The decor and vibe are warm, minimalistic, and super welcoming — perfect for starting the day on a relaxing note. They offer a wide selection of pastries, freshly made and full of homemade goodness. I usually order their baguette, iced Americano, and latte, and everything is consistently above average. The coffee is smooth, and the baguette is fresh and flavorful — the perfect breakfast combo! It’s now part of our weekly routine to stop by, grab a coffee, enjoy the calm atmosphere, and just take a breath before starting the day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a chill café experience in the city!

After having this cafe on my wish list for years, I finally made it to Flourist. Being a sourdough fan, I had to bring a loaf home (sadly, they don’t have a slicer, so I ended up with some pretty uneven slices 😅). The loaf was great, with a pretty strong sour taste. I also tried their cardamom bun, but after eating so many during my time in Scandinavia, this one unfortunately fell short of the ones across the continent. I appreciate that their baked goods seem to be sourdough-based as well; however, I didn’t think it meshed well with the cardamom flavor profile. The coffee was good, but not necessarily memorable. I’m curious to try their ricotta toast next time! The ambiance was quite nice, with a clean wood palette. I noticed a diverse mix of customers on a weekday afternoon, ranging from people working in the cafe to small families enjoying a coffee break.

Super-cool, bustling cafe/bakery with a great vibe. Came in for a little breakfast and some coffee and we were not disappointed. Avocado toast was delish-it was topped with a tasty Turkish seasoning. After crushing that, we had to have a sweet treat as coffee remained, I mean c’mon you gotta do what you gotta do. 👏 We shared a yummy desert pastry, (not too sweet, just right) with a berry cream topping and giant blackberries scattered about. The cafe was humming and well run - everyone there seemed happy and having a good time. Great job Flourist!

They are in my “cafe and bakery category. “ Coffee is average at best ….small cups and expensive prices . Had a cookie and good but also expensive. Very little comfy vibe here . Hard cold cafe seats . Zero atmosphere. I think this is a well run company but just not for me . If you’re going to run a bakery and coffee shop the coffee needs to be excellent and the vibe warm and comfy ….the bakery I believe is very good .

Wonderful experience at the Flourist. They make excellent salads and toasts and a rotation of daily specials. The mushroom toast was very savoury and the hummus was very tahini heavy which I liked. The servers were very kind and attentive and helped me navigate menu item shortages. I ended up getting a free sandwich for the small delay. Definitely worth checking out.

Nice cafe and bakery selection at Flourist in Vancouver. The coffee was good. Lattes were quite good and hit the spot well. Also tried the cardamom bread bun and it was very good. Nice little cafe, would come back again.

Gem tucked away from the main stretch of commercial, products are always high quality, weather it's the jarred goods or fresh food. Layout is inviting yet organized, easy to feel welcomed in. Right off of woodland drive bikeway it's a must stop when passing through a truly gorgeous neighbourhood, especially after the hastings location closed its doors to the public.

Dairy Queen, a classic fast-food chain, offers soft-serve ice cream, signature shakes, and iconic burgers and fries. Their ice cream cakes come in various flavors like Girls Scout Thin Mint or Strawberry Cheesecake and can be customized with designs and photos for special occasions. The restaurant also serves fantastic smoothies prepared right in front of you. Despite occasional customer incidents, the staff maintains a friendly attitude while serving their iconic treats.
The counter staff were being yelled at by a rather unhinged individual (see previous 1-star review). The customer was angry because Dairy Queen didn’t have enough non-dairy options for her liking. The counter staff attempted to explain that they don’t have anything to do with the menu and she raised her voice at them, made some rude comments, and stood outside the store taking photos of us. Despite the cuckoo bananas customer, the employee served me with a smile and friendly attitude. the pumpkin pie blizzard is SO GOOD by the way- definitely get it with the whipped cream topping 🤩

I am very disappointed. Dated December 27, 2024 around 11:18pm, I have visited the store. The person was very ill mannered and aggressive. The ice cream was melted. When I asked for refund , he denied. He didn’t give me the receipt also. I paid by cash. I don’t know he is taking the money for himself or what. Why he didn’t give me my receipt? I am seeking attention to the higher authority.

My first time buying at this branch and I asked the female employee if they already have the superman cup for the blizzard and she said yes so I bought one and when I saw she's didn't use the superman cup she said it's the only cup they have and that there's no such thing as the superman cup with his face on it. She's saying this with a straight face, a bit rude to be honest. So sad.

La Bise Bakery, located in the heart of Granville Public Market, is renowned for its delectable canelés. These scrumptious treats are baked to perfection with a delightful crunchy exterior and a creamy center. The bakery offers an array of flavors including salted caramel, original, and dark cherry. Customers rave about the skill and care put into each canelé by the owner, Nicole, who is known for her warm and welcoming demeanor despite the bustling nature of her booth.
I recently visited La Bise bakery in Vancouver and was blown away by the quality of their baked goods. La Bise bakery is a Vancouver gem. Located at Granville Island public market. Their pastries are divine, and their staff are warm and welcoming. I had the Canelés and they were delicious!!! They are small French custard cakes with a crispy caramelized crust. The perfect spot to indulge in a sweet treat. Overall, I highly recommend La Bise bakery to anyone looking for high-quality baked goods in Vancouver.

These are hands down the best Canelés I’ve had so far in my food journey. The texture strikes a flawless balance. Perfectly caramelized, crispy exterior giving way to a soft, custardy centre. While the variety of flavours adds a playful twist, I’m a purist at heart and keep coming back to the classic “plain”. I was so hooked, I made two trips to their Granville Island booth in one weekend. Absolutely worth it!

A Hidden Gem for the Best Canelés in Vancouver! La Bise Bakery is an absolute must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth exploring Granville Island. Tucked away in the vibrant Granville Island Public Market, this charming bakery specializes in what might be the most perfect canelés in the city. From the moment we approached the stall, we were drawn in by the beautiful display of freshly made canelés, each one gleaming with a perfect caramelized crust. The server was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even offered us a free sample of their salted caramel flavor. It was delicious—rich and decadent without being overly sweet, which convinced us immediately to buy more. We ended up ordering the matcha (a limited-time flavor!) and the pistachio. The matcha canelé was a standout—it had an intense, authentic matcha flavor that truly burst through with every bite. I highly recommend trying it while it's still available! The pistachio was also delightful, with a subtle nutty sweetness. For those who can't decide, they offer a small box with an assortment of all their flavors, which is perfect for sharing or for indulging all by yourself. The quality and care put into each pastry are evident, from the crispy exterior to the soft, flavorful center. Between the exceptional pastries, the lovely service, and the lively market atmosphere, La Bise Bakery made for a memorable stop. I will definitely be back to try more flavors and to introduce my friends to this delightful find!

I had tried canelés a few times before and found them expensive and not very tasty. However, during a visit to Granville Island Market, a friend recommended this place, saying their canelés were amazing. I decided to give them another try, and to my surprise, they were absolutely incredible! I bought two flavors to enjoy on the spot and took a box of the original flavor home. The samples they offer are very generous. Highly recommended!

The patisserie is known for its visually stunning petit cakes made with the finest ingredients. Additionally, it presents an Asian-inspired high tea experience featuring a tempting variety of pastries and recommended teas such as Jasmine with Flowers and Peach Apricot White.
A fantastic place where all the food is exquisite and delicious. This is the best high tea I’ve had in Vancouver. Each person receives a full set of pastries, which are thoughtfully divided into sweet and savory categories. The selection is carefully curated and changes with the seasons to offer different flavors. It’s a shop that truly puts effort into creating exceptional desserts.

Exquisite! One of the best afternoon tea services I have ever had! Don’t hesitate to book here! I HIGHLY recommend this marvelous place! My BFF and I had been here in November when I came to town to celebrate her birthday and were so impressed that we just had to come back today. Once again, everything was absolutely delicious and so beautifully presented. Both the savory and the sweet were artfully created with incredible attention to detail. The flavours were divine, each bite a delight to the tastebuds. And the scones! Wow! We were so well treated by our server and were thrilled when the chef, Ivy, stopped by our table. Our tea pots were constantly being topped up to stay hot. Thank you, Ivy for such a wonder experience (and for the extra treat you gave us to take home!). We will definitely return next time I am in town!

Overall, it was a good experience. Service was a bit slow (granted people are usually not in a rush at high tea, I was just hungry lol) I like their savouries, not so much their sweets. Personally, I'm just not a fan of desserts that have tangy or sweet berries compote in them. That being said, my party did enjoyed their sweets. If they add a couple more savoury items to it, it would have been perfect for me. Some savouries item that I expected to be crunchy was stale though but it didn't bother me that much. The flavour profile was good enough to overlooked that. Their scones was baked fresh, came out hot and moist! Perfect pairing with the accomplishments served! The tea itself, I got Jasmine, there was nothing special about it. I do wish they serve higher quality tea and offer more variety that are not fruit flavoured. I preferred my tea plaine. The tea was also too weak for my liking. Despite service being on the slower side, it was great. Prompt, friendly, and attentive. The space is cute, neat, and clean. Plenty of paid parking, no spot reserved for the place, and parking was cheap so no complaints there. When we make the reservation, I saw on their website (I believe) that high tea is $68/person but reservation of 5 or more will be $65/person + 18% auto gratuity... When we went, our party of 7 were charged $68/person + auto grats, and that clause were no where to be found. (It's gone now) It's not a big deal, just $3 but it worth a mention imo. We would return here.

Have been a Yandoux fan since 2019 because this is the best hightea in Vancouver! Now they have a bigger store newly opened in RMD, today I bring my little boy to enjoy his first hightea and he really enjoyed the sablefish, I told the chef he is usually a very picky guy and he never eat any fish, she friendly told me how to make this dish and I feel so warm about it, all the staff here are extremely helpful and friendly, beautiful store and very nice environment, thank you and you guys made my day 🩷

We enjoyed our stay here - the bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly. Our room was spacious, with a separate bedroom / living area. The hotel is in an older building, but the rooms/bathrooms and lobby are updated. Someone at the front desk jumped our battery when our car would not start, which we are so grateful for!

Room is in need of a refresh, but the bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom setup was awkward but the shower was hot, fantastic water pressure and we liked the shampoo. It was a very easy walk to the cruise port and from the train (took from airport) so the convenience is worth overlooking the worn furniture. I would stay again if I was in the area and the pricing was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We picked Delta for its proximity to the cruise terminal and train station so we didn't need to book a ride or rent a car. The hotel was nice and comfy and we enjoyed the bed, shower, partial harbor views, and took advantage of the restaurant as well for breakfast as we left. It's centrally located and an easy walk to gas town and the cruise terminal/convention center. You can also hear the gas town clock from the rooms if you listen closely. One caution: if you walk from the train station with bags, don't use the north entrance as it only has stairs. Go another block and use that entrance as you won't need to lift heavy luggage. Definitely recommend.

Shoutout to the staff of Delta hotels Vancouver downtown suites. Best Location, best staff, best housekeeping (Maricel). This hotel gave us a superior level of comfort and service. From doorman to front desk to housekeeping. Our room is clean, and just enough size for me and my husband. One block from Waterfront station. Will stay again!!

Excellent service from front desk. Felt very welcomed. Super polite and professional. They even gave me a special treat in recognition of my birthday. Completely unexpected. A thoughtful touch I have not experienced elsewhere. Well done. Hotel is in a good location. Here for business. No complaints whatsoever.

This is not a bad place to stay. It's clean, has many of the things you need in a hotel, room service, a restaurant and the staff are very helpful for special requests. But for the price, it's not nice-nice. Everything costs a little more than it should for what you get. Everyone wants a tip for just doing their job. It is a good location, close to several shops within walking distance and close to the cruise ship terminals. It seems relatively safe walking within a few blocks. It was quite noisy through out the evening and night outside with people and music and the hotel walls were not insulated enough to keep the noise out.
Mark B — Google review
Great location for walking around Vancouver. All the staff was extremely nice and helpful. Can't emphasize that enough. There did appear to be a fair bit of drug used in the vicinity of the hotel, but we ran into that quite a bit walking around, so it's hard to avoid in general.

Fantastic hotel to stay at. I was here for work and everyone was so accommodating if we needed anything. I was in love with the floor to ceiling windows in my room. The staff were quick with recommendations and directions.

Grounds for Coffee is a popular spot known for its fantastic cinnamon buns and decent coffee. The bright and hip space with good music creates a welcoming atmosphere, although the line system can be confusing at times. The staff works hard to serve customers quickly, but seating may be limited due to the high volume of patrons. Additionally, they offer seasonal flavors like Wild Berry Cinnamon Buns with house-made berry compote.
Forgot how much I loved cinnamon buns! Bought a 6 pack of their limited edition Cherry Blossom Buns for $28. I appreciate that their limited edition buns are the same price as the regular buns, and their special flavours are typically only available over four-day window. If you're not eating them right away and want to add your own cream cheese icing and cherry compote, they can add both to take out cups for convenience and easy travel (which I did). The buns were delicious! So moist and best fresh, but even tasted nice when warmed a day or two after for breakfast. The moisture retained well and the bun wasn't overly hard as some baked goods can be. The dough of the bun isn't overly sweet, which is nice, because the icing adds the sugar - and can be controlled when added yourself. Loved the sweetness of the cherry compote! Would recommend.

Love the vibes here! Great working space with lots of plugs. We tried the vanilla late and tbh, wouldn’t recommend it. The banana muffins are pretty good though :) highly recommend their cinnamon rolls too

We came for coffee and some bakery items. We ordered the superfruit oatmeal muffin and a cinnamon roll. The muffin was great, but the cinnamon roll is probably the best I've ever had. It was perfect - soft, chewy, gooey, and not overly sweet. It was so good, we bought a 4 pack to bring home. Highly recommended!

I’m not usually a fan of cinnamon, but their cinnamon bun completely changed my mind! The first time I tried it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it—I had to come back for more. It’s the perfect match with their coffee. 101/100 experience! Highly recommended.

Came here for their heavenly cinnamon bun. They are my absolute favourite. So soft and fresh and delicious. I haven't tried their other products because I only ever have to have their cinnamon bun. I also really like that they are peanut free so I can get these for family members who have nut allergies. So thankful to them for this. Barista was very friendly and helpful. Lots of seats but it is noisy for me and that's why I gave it one star less but everyone else in there seemed quite happy. Parking was a bit of an issue but I ended up finding a spot along a side street.

five stars for their cinnamon buns!! incredibly soft and melty and the cinnamon filling inside is actually thick. love their iced chai latte too! the vibe here is cosy, it’s definitely a good spot for studying/working/reading/writing too. i’ve been here a few times and will definitely be back to try more of their seasonal cinnamon bun flavours!

Cannoli King Vancouver is a popular bakery known for its delicious cannolis and cakes. Customers rave about the amazing cannoli cake, praising the friendly staff members Eva and Raquel for their helpfulness in choosing tasty treats. While some find the prices a bit high, others appreciate the quality and variety of flavors offered. In addition to cannolis, the bakery also offers a tempting selection of other delectable desserts.
Cannoli King is a perfect name for this place because they have some of the best tasting cannoli I’ve ever tried. The filling is creamy and thick while the crust is crispy and flaky. The flavour variety was awesome. The lemon one was super refreshing and light and the presentation and addition of edible garnishes like lemon candy or coffee beans for the coffee flavoured one added to the awesomeness of these cannoli.

We ordered a variety of desserts today to try them out. It was our first time ordering from here — and definitely the last. I ordered the tiramisu, and while eating the first bite, I noticed some strange hard pieces in my mouth. At first, I thought they were bits of chocolate, but when I spit them out to check, I found multiple pieces of eggshell. I was shocked — this is a serious food safety issue, especially considering that tiramisu is a cream-based dessert typically made without heat. Uber refunded our money, but I still want to inform both potential customers and those responsible at the restaurant, in hopes of preventing this kind of issue in the future.

Stopped by Italia Bakery for a quick bite. The pistachio croissant was good — nice pistachio flavor and a bit nutty. The chicken sausage roll was flaky and tasty. Coffee was solid. Overall, a decent spot for a simple pastry and coffee.

Atrocious service, no quality control and inedible food!!!! Called to reserve 1/4 tomato slab pizza. They required a credit card number which I reluctantly gave. Travelled an hour to pick up the pizza and when I walked in you could tell things had changed and not for the better! Gave my name and the pizza was handed to me I immediately said it is dry! There was no tomatoes on the top. I wanted to also purchase cannoli, as the pizza and cannoli's are my friends favourites and it was her 70th birthday. They had no original cannoli filling! They did have other fillings which consisted of bright florescent yellow for vanilla and bright florescent green for pistachio as well as others. Took a step back and pondered my situation, as I wanted to bring a smile to my friends face and it didn't look like that was going to occur. Noticed there were 4-1/4 slabs of pizza in the freezer. That is unheard of as it is usually sold out quickly, thus having to reserve it!!! If you know, you know! So many red flags!!! The older server, with grey hair and obviously not Italian, refused to give me a refund!!! I mentioned that it was NOT the same pizza they use to have and she said it was. I said not even close! She said it was. I said surely not!!! I asked if the owner has changed and they said yes. I walked out! Where has quality control and customer service gone????? Usually the place was packed with customers and there were just 4 in the time I had spent there. 2 had walked out as what they were looking for could not be found. Emailed Sheldon, the Director, with my concerns and sent photos and requested a refund. I received a reply from Tina, no title, and she said there would be no refund. I asked that Sheldon reply as she was not the one I emailed! He replied that he was not in the store so his colleague replied. Being in the store or not, you have eyes to see the images and could read the complaint!!!!!! If I had agreed to purchase a mug and it was chipped, would I have to accept?????? Go to Fratelli's for bread and pastries or La Grotta del Formaggio, on Commercial Drive, and purchase your slab pizza and cannoli's from them! Inviting and super friendly staff serving authentic scrumptious, appealing Italian goods!!

Have had their Cannolis before but I really didn’t like it today I got a twist cannoli and it tasted like cardboard, and really poor quality icing didn’t really taste like ricotta at all.

The L'OTUS Cake Boutique in Burnaby, BC specializes in the most delicate and flawless best birthday cakes spots in Vancouver. Between each layer of their mille crepe cake are layers of creamy pastry cream and fresh fruit fillings. They are some of the best things you'll ever put in your mouth!
Their crepe cakes are sure to impress for any occasion! Ordered the mango crepe cake for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely fantastic in every way. Everyone complimented on it. First, the box it comes in is beautiful and opens like a fancy present 🎁. Second, the cake itself looked beautiful and came with a golden birthday candle. The crepe cake was so finely layered with mango and whipped cream and tasted perfect, like a cloud of creamy mango in your mouth that is very light. It’s a pricier cake but totally worth it and you get what you pay for.

First time here. It is one of the few places in Burnaby that was open late. On arrival, my impression was that it was a very nice, clean, and bright atmosthere with lots of options for dessert, from different flavored Crepe cakes to parfaits and drinks. We chose a booth which provided some privacy for discussions. When it was about 9 pm, it started filling up and quiet again by 10 PM. There is free parking at 8 PM on the street and there was a sign indicating spots behind the building. You place your order at the counter and they will bring it to you and clear the table afterwards. I appreciated the service. I liked the variety of flavors offered, We had the light Lychee Rose crepe cake and oreo cookie parfait with matcha lattes. The cake had a delicate flavor which I wouldn't mind if it was slightly sweeter. The parfait used good of quality gelato. The matcha latte taste as though it had good quality matcha. Would return..
Sophia T — Google review
Their specialty is their crepe and it’s a decent one. They offer a variety of flavours, and have a reasonable drink menu. However, they don’t offer decaf coffee. In terms of the place itself, it tends to get a bit packed, and the tables are rather close to each other. They also don’t have power outlets, so have your laptops and tablets charged before coming in!
Bahareh — Google review
Among all the mille crepe cakes I tried at this shop, the lychee flavor stood out as the absolute best — the layers were delicate and moist, with a subtle floral sweetness that made each bite truly enjoyable. In contrast, the other flavors were just average; they lacked the same balance and uniqueness and didn’t leave a lasting impression. While the cakes are definitely on the pricey side, the overall experience is elevated by the interior decor, which features a fresh and minimalist aesthetic. The space is thoughtfully designed with soft colors and natural elements, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing with dessert or catching up with friends.
Foodie V — Google review
If you’re looking for your daily sugar fix, this is the right place! Desserts are good, but maybe a bit too sweet. Finishing a slice of cake is honestly a challenge. That said, overall it was a positive experience, great service and the place is super clean.
Domenico N — Google review
The place is very nice, although the space between tables is quite small. You arrive and are told you have to sit down and place your order online, but the truth is, it's cumbersome, and looking at the menu in photos isn't the same as seeing the portions and what you want to eat with your own eyes. So we got up from the table and placed our order directly at the register. The desserts were exquisite, as was my drink.
Andrea A — Google review
The matcha ice cream tastes great! I bought No2 and it’s the perfect combination! However the service is bad. Maybe one of the employees had a bad day but their tone of voice sounds as if we’re bothering them. The matcha crepe tasted alright. It was in the car ride on my way home so it might have affected the taste. I will come back and dine in instead to see what it tastes like :)) It seems like the atmosphere is for people studying as it’s incredibly quiet and not lively.

Bonus Bakery is a must-visit spot just outside downtown Vancouver, offering a massive food fair experience reminiscent of the vibrant night markets in Southeast Asia. From pineapples filled with fried rice to sweet Oreo bao buns topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce, the variety of treats is impressive. The bakery's star attraction is its creatively stuffed and topped cookies, featuring fillings like peanut butter and jelly, Nutella, and cookies and cream.
I ordered 5 x 15 mini cookies for my daughter’s first birthday party and wow they were such a hit. I already knew the cookies were delicious as I’ve tried them before but it was so wonderful hearing so many guests rave about the cookies. Some of our guests were still bringing up how delicious the cookies are the next day! Highly recommend! Also, their delivery service makes ordering so convenient!

Bonus Bakery donuts are on point! Much better than Lucky’s Donuts, which just taste like cake on donut format. My partner also got my birthday cake from Bonus Bakery, which was tasty. The only problem was that he asked for them to write my name on top, and they didn’t.

So happy to have found this bakery! After rotating through some other vegan bakeries in town we were ready for something different. Although the cakes are a bit on the sweet side, all the flavors are spot on and unique. Weeks ago, we had the chocolate chip and walnut cookies at one of Bonus' participating retail cafes and were blown away. Best vegan chocolate chip cookie we've ever had! Soft and melty in a Brooklyn style. For this year's birthday, I ordered the cake flight which has a variety of cakes. What an excellent idea! Will last for many days to come. So good!

Not really an actual coffee shop, but vegan baked goods available at a salad/juice bar. The items I bought were delicious and I made a return trip. I especially loved the lemon cookie(perfect - not too sweet) and the choclate chip cookie. Everything I tried was excellent and I think the prices were very reasonable. Only disappointment was that it wasn't a stand alone store.

Edible Flours is committed to using natural ingredients and avoids artificial additives like trans-fats, hydrogenated oil, preservatives or unnatural food colorings.
2021 Update: Another birthday cake order, this time with a particular topping request; Arabic writing! Once again, the cake was perfect and the writing on top went down extremely well. Will definitely be maintaining this habit. I also highly recommend the delicious brownies they sell in the cafe; perfect to split between two people. - - - - - - This place was perfect for ordering a cake for a friend’s gluten-free birthday. Ordered a few gluten free cakes from vegan bakery Edible Flours. - Green velvet ($60.00 for 6" GF) - best of the three. Decent matcha flavour - Raspalicious ($60.00 for 6" GF) - texture lacking, mute flavour. Wanted more raspberry - S'mores ($60.00 for 6" GF) - bland EF's cakes are nowhere close to the quality of the other, better GF bakeries in town.

I dropped by Edible Flours with my daughter and we used a plant based deals coupon to bring home a few of their baked goods to try. They are an entirely vegan bakery and as I'm always on the lookout for good places to get vegan eats, I was eager to try out this shop. Featured here: Spinach Artichoke Roll Chewy Coconut Cookie Gluten Free Smores Bar Spinach Artichoke Roll looked and sounded better than it tasted. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about either. Absolutely loved the Chewy Coconut Cookie and Gluten Free Smores Bar! The cookie was soft and chewy as its name suggests, and the Smores Bar was packed with flavor. So wonderful to know that food can be vegan, gluten free and still loaded with yumminess! Service: Good Parking: Free parking on the side streets off Broadway

I tried the sugar-free carrot cake (non GF), but was a wee disappointed: Don’t mind the appearance, because the cake was delivered to me in great shape and looking beautiful, but I messed the butter cream when transporting it. My low rating only reflects the flavor, because I didn’t love it, and could clearly taste the sweetener. I really wanted to love this place because there aren’t many sugar free options around. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t up to par. I’ll most likely give them another chance with a different flavour, because their service was excellent, very kind, accommodating, and punctual.

Yesterday 18th October 2025 was dedicated to chocolate cupcakes. The first mention of a dessert with the qualities of a cupcake was in American Cookery in 1796, and the first time the term "cupcake" was used was in 1828. National Chocolate Cupcake Day reminds us that chocolate cupcakes are more than just food to delight the taste buds, though. They’re also something that helps many people push through the struggles and strains of life. The comfort of a delicious cupcake is something that you can enjoy in the evening after a busy day. Fun Facts: Chocolate cupcakes predate modern chocolate bars. In the 18th century, chocolate was mainly consumed as a drink. Bakers experimented with incorporating chocolate into cakes before solid chocolate bars became widely available in the mid-19th century. Personal Note: One of the weirdest flavors I ate would be the wasabi chocolate cupcakes, this spicy Japanese condiment adds a surprising kick to the sweet and creamy texture. Other unusual flavors include chocolate squid ink cupcakes in some Asian bakeries and chocolate-covered bacon cupcakes, which blend sweet and salty flavors for a unique experience. To celebrate I bought a dozen to share, hope you all had a treat yourselves as well. 📍Edible Flours 2280 W Broadway, Kitsilano, BC 🇨🇦 Vegan bakery, with gluten free and sugar free options available ... made with love, so everyone can enjoy fresh daily. I personally think they are better than most other dairy gluten-free options in th GVA but their vegan cupcakes are the best.

Hi new owner, Have you changed the recipes? Or have your bakers get properly trained? I used to love this bakery and have recommended to my friends for approx.5 years… And I stopped by today to get an apple sticky bun after a year or so. However, the quality has significantly dropped sadly. The apple sticky bun was so dry as if it was baked 2 days ago and almost tasteless that I only could taste subtle cinnamon. There’s no taste in the bun at all that I felt like I was eating plastics🥲 Unless you work on some improvement, I won’t be back.
Em S — Google review
Picked up a Too Good To Go bag and a couple of other vegan treats! The cinnamon rolls and apple sticky bun were nice and gooey when heated (as they're likely a day old when provided). We liked that they weren't overly sweet like Cinnabon with an abundance of icing sugar and glaze. The GF keto lemon square was nice and tart, although I wish it was larger in size (such as more curd as it was relatively flat) for the $5.50 price tag! The GF ginger molasses cookie was my favourite purchase, dense and with a solid ginger, cinnamon-y aftertaste. Cute shop with some space for dining in. I was also able to call in and reserve a couple of items in the morning.
Chloe R — Google review
I had been a loyal customer of this bakery for four years and always ordered my birthday cake from here. Unfortunately, this year was a huge disappointment and the worst experience I’ve had with them. The cake didn’t taste like it used to — instead of a balanced flavor, it felt like I was just eating whipped cream. It was overwhelmingly creamy, with little to no actual cake texture. Despite ordering a 4-inch cake, I was charged nearly $40, which is a significant increase compared to previous years, with no improvement in quality. The flavor was supposed to be apple and caramel, but sadly, I couldn’t taste either — just cream. I’m very disappointed and unfortunately cannot recommend this bakery anymore. If you don’t want to ruin your birthday with a bad cake experience, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Located in Vancouver, Canada, Level V Bakery is a bright and modern vegan bakery that offers a wide array of plant-based indulgences. Their lineup includes pastries, cupcakes, cookies, raw bars, and more. The bakery prides itself on using quality ingredients to create egg-free and milk-free desserts that also cater to gluten-free and nut and soy allergies. Customers can enjoy Asian-inspired treats as well as matcha-based offerings including soft serve.
My first time trying ceremonial grade matcha and it was great. Smooth, fragrant, bold earthy flavor but not bitter. Very nice froth on top. However I think the main sellers are probably the delicious and unique looking pastries and multicolored drinks. They have an extensive and well rounded menu, ranging from those who prefer light drinks to students and sweets lovers. I would definitely come back here again and I would recommend this place!

I visited this place like a week ago (mid July - 2025) and I actually went here for the Softie Co. Vegan ice cream and it turns out that’s actually inside this bakery. Then I saw that they have matcha tea, other matcha bakery items as well as other desserts. I almost fell in love with the place seeing how many gluten free options they have! I wanted to try more but for this time I only tried the mochi muffins (because I also had the ice cream—i will write a separate review for that under the Softie co. place). Can’t say I liked the mochi muffins a lot—they just used flavouring i think instead of real strawberry—but it was ok. Will definitely go back to try other desserts and matcha tea. They’re situated kind of inside a community center and the community center has a washroom. The bakery itself is a bit narrow and it does get crowded so it might be a little hard to get a table. But I was able to find one. I also tried their herbal tea and it was good. They do actually brew it from loose leaf tea as opposed to using tea bags like other places, which is nice. Here are the gluten free options: Charlotte Berry Mousse, Death by chocolate pistachio raspberry mousse slice, strawberry muffin, mango pudding mousse, opera cake, mochi muffins (matcha and strawberry), strawberry matcha tiramisu, eclaire.

Level V Bakery is an absolute gem! Their vegan ice cream is unbelievably creamy and flavorful—you’d never guess it’s dairy-free. The cheesecake is rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced in sweetness, making it one of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and cheerful. Every visit feels like a treat, and I love discovering new flavors they create. If you’re in Vancouver and love desserts (vegan or not), this place is a must-try!

I’ve tried most vegan bakeries in the city for cakes and I can say this was the tastiest and the service was fab. I requested colours and style on the form online and they obliged and did a really lovely job. Everyone at the party loved the look and flavour of cake and cupcakes. They also do great coffees and lunches/baked goods!!

We get every birthday cake from Level V!! This place is the best! It doesn't even taste vegan and the presentation is always a 10/10. Recommend ordering online in advance for pick up as same day cake selection is limited and usualy the best flavours are not available. Our favourite are double chocolate, confetti and oreo. The cupcakes are also amazing! The Matcha is pretty bitter.
Shawn — Google review
It had a slice of ube cake and it's so good~! The frosting, the cake (the little pearls aren't edible). The purple colour is really pretty! Unfortunately, they didn't have the mochi buns. Otherwise, I would love to try them as well.
Ourson — Google review
I had the Ube and matcha swirl ice cream on a charcoal cone (for extra) and it was fabulous. The ice cream held up extremely well despite the hot weather outside. It was not too sweet. As for the ube cake slice, perhaps because we got the last one of the day it had been drying up in the display case all day and had a bit of a drier batter. However when we placed an order for the full ube cake and ate it fresh, the texture was spongy and ube with a gentle taste. The cafe is definitely picture worthy if that's what you're going for, both the bakery and ice cream make up for the higher price point. The seating arrangement is like little tight and the seats are small. If you're coming in from the commercial street, you should look for a matcha themed store. It is more visible than the level V bakery sign. Otherwise you can enter through the community centre as well.

Kouign Café is a charming spot that offers delightful pastries and cookies. The Kouign, an Asian fusion treat, stands out for its delicious flavors, although some find the pastry slightly chewy. The Lunchbox, a peanut butter cookie, receives high praise and is a favorite among visitors. The cafe's freshly baked goods are a hit, with options like the Dark Moon Cookie being particularly recommended for its rich flavors.
I ordered delivery from this cafe a few days ago. I love the small little note my food came with and the fact that they remembered me when I posted about them on social media. Their Kouign is the perfect Asian fusion. It's delicious and all the flavours work together. The only thing negative I found was that the pastry was a bit on the chewy side. I also ordered their peanut butter cookie called The Lunchbox. OH MY GOODNESS! That is now my favourite cookie of all time! I ordered it because I love anything peanut butter. The description left me intrigued. I mean, a peanut butter cookie with pork floss, Chinese sausage and Nori. That's not something you see everyday. I wasn't sure how it would all work. But you know what? I love how the sweet, salty and savoury components all complimented each other. So delicious! I'm definitely ordering that again, and I'll definitely order more than one! If you're adventurous and love the sweet and salty flavour combo, I highly recommend this cafe.

I am beyond words after trying this place for the first time today. Kouign far exceeded any expectations that I had of this humble bakery. I ordered one each of the only two sandwiches that they had on the menu, as well as The Kouign's Order, because of course I had to try everything. I was blown away by the flavours in each of the sandos. They were elevated versions of an egg salad and chicken salad sando on their signature black sesame sourdough baguette. Truly unique taste that is an explosion of flavour in every bite. Read the description on their website and you will see the strange ingredients that come together to make for a fabulous sando filling. Another must try is The Pot of Gold and The Treasure Chest. These two are amazing flaky pastries with well balanced sweet and savory flavours. After trying these decadent treats, trying the plain black sesame baguette was almost anticlimactic, however, we were pleasantly surprised at how good and fresh it was with the accompanying understated miso butter. The Purple Rain and Nutcracker are denser baked goods. The Un-Birthday Kouign was cool with the mochi in the middle. The Princess was a nice sweet treat. The Lunch Box (peanut butter cookie) and The Noodle Farm (oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie) had a funky mix of sweet and savory. The White Rabbit was underwhelming. Overall, their savory selection is to die for. You can taste the heart and soul that went into each menu item. To bring such exotic flavours into each one is just short of genius. Attention to detail and presentation is 10/10 (there are gold flakes on some of their items). The cafe is bare bones, you're not here for the ambiance. The menu appears limited, but the quality of what they do have far outweigh the need for any more items on the menu. I would be back to enjoy these delicious creations; it is definitely worth the long drive to Chinatown to grab some of these goods.

When you spot this white rabbit, don't hesitate to follow it to a wonderland filled with the most inventive treats! Andrew Han is an absolute mastermind who displays his mad genius in flavour combinations I've never experienced anywhere else. It's a joy to hear him speak passionately about his creations and an even bigger one to taste them. I tried 2 Kouign Amann pastries and 2 cookies. Both the Kouign Amann pastries had the most crispy but pillowy caramelized crust with beautiful layers, it was an amazing texture (please try these on the day you get them for the best crunch). The Treasure Chest was a flavourful experience of herbs, seasoned shitake mushrooms and these crunchy potato pieces. The Spice Girl had a chewy mochi centre and the most delicious cream cheese icing that was just the right amount of sweet. You know when something is so good that you can't bear to finish it because you don't want it to be gone? That was me with the cookies. They retained their amazing chewy interior and crunchy exterior during the few days that I nibbled away at them. The Dark Moon was a perfect blend of white chocolate, ube and a kick of sea salt (the ube jam was delicious and I wish the cookie was slathered in it even if that's not as aesthetic haha). The Lunch Box was the biggest surprise. What a beautiful and well-rounded culinary experience. You get the crunch of actual peanuts and that slightly sweet peanut butter taste, followed by notes of sweet pork floss, nori, sausage and a subtle hit of spiciness. Other than the food itself, the service was warm and prices are fair for the work that goes into everything. The interior is clean and more spacious than I expected. I hope to stop by to dine in one day and try their drinks. Overall, I'm honestly blown away by the thought that went into creating these flavour combinations and the meticulousness that goes into producing them. I'd gladly take another trip to this wonderland!

A bit pricey but delicious. Would go again to try the rest of their menu :) Update: was in the area and decided to check out this place again. Pleasantly surprised that I can dine in! The staff was very nice with the transaction (owner was busy so couldn't talk to him). I got the purple rain, the princes and the weird but good rice farm cookie. They were all good but that cookie... It definitely left a mark on me. I took multiple small bites for the salty and sweet to mingle, dance, get married, contribute to rrsp and retire together in my mouth. I just couldnt get over how strangely they worked well together! Go try it XD

A bit of a letdown because I had such high expectations from the reviews, website description, and presentation. Definitely very unique and creative treats, but more catered to a western palate as they were very rich and heavy. Even though the owner claimed many people don’t find the cookies sweet enough, me and my friend found the Ube one (dark moon) to be way too sweet. The carrot thingy was good but also quite sweet and oily. I was super excited about the treasure chest and although it was good, it was way too salty. Also could not finish half because it was so buttery. Maybe I should’ve came hungry and not post brunch 😅 Again, nothing wrong with the treats - they’re amazing and very unique. But although they have Asian elements in them, they’re still rich and heavy like western treats. If you can handle brownies and regular kouign amann, you will definitely love these. I was just disappointed because I thought they’d be more light and subtle like traditional Asian treats. Nevertheless, still enjoyed finding out about this place and the owner is a super cool guy 😄

Wow. Wow. Wow. The BEST pastries I've had. A must come, local or tourist. The uniqueness of the flavors combined with the friendly service will add so much to your day. A nice plus that it's really close to some attractions to see afterward. There is something for everyone here. Though there are only a few items at a time they are so different that there's great variety. The treasure chest is a MUST. Wow it was so exquisite. The flavors of this were such a hit for me. However, all the items were delicious and designed with such care: they had unique flavours and textures, great balance, and visually appetizing. The owner is super friendly and happy to talk about the pastries. Seeing his joy and dedication makes the experience even better. Don't pass up a drink as well! They were super fun. I'll lastly add that everything was worth the price (and imo, not even that expensive). I'm normally scared to hype a place up and raise the bar too high but am confident kouijn will live up to it. One last thing - many Asian inspired foods:).

I love the concept of the food and drinks but there’s something missing. I think it was the fact that despite the food being yummy and the drinks being unique, it couldn’t distract me from the wobbly table that spilled a bit of my drink, or the paper cups that were too hot to touch, or the lack of… finesse in the decor. Granted, I believe this place is run just by a few people and everything is lovingly handcrafted, but I feel like the cafe is going for something that it isn’t quite fulfilling in terms of concept + decor for me. I think I would come back only for take out.

The Silver sky drink is mesmerizing...Creamy, strong and sweet. The golden fog is quite sweet, but very flavourful and packed with juicy goodness. The secret garden Kouign Amann is a charming amalgamation of sweet, spicy, flaky, chewy tastiness. I love how inventive these menu items are, you will be charmed by the care and attention put into each confection and drink.

Emma from Sweet Something bakery is so talented I was blown away! She made an incredibly beautiful birthday cake for my son's 25th Birthday and it was not only the most gorgeous cake but it was so delicious!!! She is very organized and was perfect in dealing with Sweet Something! Thank you so much!!! great memory in our photos of special day!!!

Way overpriced, the cake lacked flavor and the texture of it was just odd. Got a mini egg cake and the only mini egg to it was about 8 mini eggs on the top. It’s not often that I meet a cake not worth eating but this one is not. Changing from one star to two as they did refund us but I can’t give a good review as we didn’t get another edible cake from them.

Drove over an hour to get here to try the Japanese souflee pancakes (which I had fallen in love with in Japan). Pancakes were okay, but not what I was hoping for. My lemonade was so sour I couldn’t finish it. It allows you to make reservations online, but there are only about 15 seats inside, some of which require you to crawl over an old radiator to access. We saw others walk in and try to sit down only to be kicked off the table because they aren’t really managing their combined reservations/walk-in coffee shop combo very well. We had a party of 3, one of with mobility issues. We were told there was no public washroom (in a restaurant? I’m pretty confident that’s not even allowed), and so we were forced to have to urgently rush a member of our party across the street to the shoppers drug mart to find a washroom, causing 2/3 of us to have cold breakfast. All in all, wouldn’t come here again. On the plus side, employees were trying their best to make due and provide quality service. However it was confusing where they were serving and where we were suppose to help ourselves (for example: they took our order at the table, but when we asked for milk for coffee they pointed to a stand in the corner so we could do get it ourselves). In need of more space and a clearer identity.

We ordered the rainbow salted caramel cake for my daughter birthday. It was quite heavy and sweet. You could get it within the same day. It is also not pricy. The front girl was so nice to help us ordering the cake.

Wanted Congratulations Ron! on cake, but given hard upsell to add decorations. Was quoted $60 … no that was just for the decorations. Total was $150. For a 6 inch cake. Okay.. I figured worth an artisan’s time. I even gave a tip upfront. For top of cake we settled on a book, glasses and an apple… expecting somewhat proportional and artistic display. Artisan no. Instead I got a machine generated set of randomly placed objects that were out of proportion to one another, and some very badly hand crafted “eyeglasses” (no one knew what they were & they were smudged). WTTF. I asked where’s the Congratulations Ron! ? Oh it didn’t fit, they said. So they put the premade letters on the cardboard the cake sat on. Again WTTF. Does the owner have no shame? I try to support local and felt scammed. This is not how you treat your neighbours. So short sighted too, as our community is small.

My son and I come here sometimes after school and it’s a really lovely place. Friendly staff, lots of interesting snacks and drinks to choose from and relaxing atmosphere. Nice to have an independent coffee place in Dunbar. They have WiFi too.

Emma at Sweet Somethings made an incredible Paw Patrol cake and cupcakes for my son's 3rd birthday. Not only did they look amazing they also tasted divine, moist and flavorful. So happy, thank you!!

Cute & cozy coffee spot with a delightful turquoise interior and premium food & drink. Excellent assortment of gifts and treats to purchase. Seating area fits 12 people comfortably. Extendable tables are great for getting some work done. The mugs here are wonderful ceramic with a nice weight to them! No public bathrooms. Counter service card machine prompts for tips on all purchases.

Bakery
French Made Baking is a charming bakery known for its in-house made macarons and other delectable pastries. The team of French bakers, led by chef Alicia, ensures that everything is crafted from scratch with a focus on achieving the perfect balance between sweetness and flavor intensity. Visitors can enjoy watching the pastry-making process while indulging in delicious treats. The bakery also offers delightful hot chocolate and friendly service, making it an ideal spot to relax or catch up with friends.
Probably the best French bakery in town! Yup, I will stand by that comment as I have been to most of them if not all. French Made does great croissants, their almond chocolate croissant is a gooey extravaganza of flavours that melt away all sorrow. Their pastries are rich and fresh just like in Paris

The giant rose macaroon was nice. The service could be better. For example , when you order a tea, they only fill the cup halfway with water. You need to ask them several times to fill the cup properly. The shop has a cheap looking vintage look to it. It looks very cheap.

We stopped by on a whim and we are so glad we did. Awfully close to closing, but there were still a few varieties of macarons to choose from. All of them are amazing. The pastries my companion chose were really lovely as well. Service was wonderful, and the shop is so cute.

I was looking for great cakes for birthday. Usually I go with custom made cakes with designs. They never tasted as good as they should be. So I googled and settled on this place and bought L’Aurore cake from them. It was really great and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this place and they now have a customer for life.
Sreekanth B — Google review
The service was quite friendly and casual. Price was a bit expensive for the portion size. However, I couldn't help but notice how salty the food was. I had tried a selection of the offerings that this shop had to offer. I would definitely recommend their pot pies - flaky crust and great filling - and their soups. However, the rest were slightly disappointing - croissant, hot chocolate festival offering, ices hot chocolate, crepes.

Great French bakery, the croissants and pain au chocolat were the exact amount of crunchy and chewy, definitely lots of butter went into their creation! Also managed to snag one of the baguettes which I have to say was incredible (lasted all of 5 minutes when I brought I back to the apartment) prices aren't cheap but staff were very friendly and helpful. Great little place!

I always come here after I go to the dentist which is right beside this café. Their hot chocolate is delicious! Very creamy and just the right amount of sweet. Their pastries are superb! You can even see them make pastries while you eat inside. Very friendly staff and good service. They offer to bring your food at your table, which I really appreciate. A great place to hang out, study, or have a chat with friends.

I got L'Aurore Cake which was very high quality and appealing on its look. It tasted very delight and not very sweet at all which is very lovable for Asian people. All the guests loved the cake so much that they asked where did i get it, so they would buy for other special occasions. Will come bake for sure to try others.
