Nestled within the breathtaking Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake Lodge offers a cozy and rustic retreat with stunning views of the turquoise waters and soaring peaks. The lodge's 24 cabins exude a 19th-century gold rush charm, featuring stone fireplaces and an oak bar from an original saloon. Modern amenities such as a fitness room, sauna, and outdoor hot tub provide comfort amidst the wilderness.
We travelled with 2 dogs. The shuttle service getting to and from the lodge operated seamlessly. Service was fantastic at the desk. Everyone was friendly. The room was comfortable in a rustic way. The wood burning fireplace helped to keep us warm in the cold nights. The dogs were given a big comfortable bed. Shoutout to the shuttle drivers for your patience and kindness.

We loved our stay here, our room was one of the newer rooms and it was so nicely decorated and cosy inside, especially with the fire lit. Having direct access to the lake was great too, the loop around the lake is a nice easy walk with lots of stop off points for photos and even a swim if you dare! The service wasn’t amazing, it seemed like a lot of the staff were new maybe? The food we had in the lounge restaurant was really good, I can recommend the salmon dish. The main restaurant we were not able to visit as we hadn’t booked in advance. The hot tub with a view was a really nice addition! Overall I would recommend staying here for a at least two nights to really switch off and make the most of it.

The positive: the experience of being there and picked up and driven to the door and what a beautiful place. Food is incredible. But these are all things you pay a hefty price for... so yes amazing as it is thats what you pay for. Staff were pleasant but could go the extra mile for sure. The negative: i was 36 weeks pregnant and probably have never had a more uncomfortable night's sleep. The matress in our room was the worst mattress ive ever slept on. I've slept better in hostels in Asia. Which is very sad as my husband actually proposed to me that weekend there. And the nights sleep definitely put a downer on what was to be a really amazing unforgettable trip.

Emerald lake Lodge is an absolutely beautiful place. My family and I are so happy to have had the experience of lodging here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It truly is an amazing place. The natural scenery is just unbelievable. The room was clean and very comfortable. The rooms have a coffee/tea bar area and a mini fridge. The rooms have balconies with great views. I am 110% satisfied with the service and accommodations!
Brian E — Google review
Stunningly beautiful and serene. Great accommodations - some directly on the lake, others just across the way. Hot-tub and sauna were great. Good view with views at the restaurant. Great, easy hikes - yes, some roots in the trails, but that's what comes with trees :-) That being said, we had the perfect weather - blue sky's with some clouds, no fog, perfect temperatures, no smoke (heavy rains had recently cleaned the air) - so, luck has a hand in how your experience will turn out.

Our trip was a destination wedding/ceremony. The area (scenery) was amazing. The night before the wedding we had dinner in the lodge dinning room, prearranged with the coordinator. When we arrived 30 minutes early we asked if we could be seated early. We were told the table had not yet been setup, we were told we had to wait until our reservation time. So we waited and when our time came we were sat at the table in the middle of the room that had been set since before we arrived. We ordered our food and waited. We had to ask for our drinks a second time before they were brought. When our food arrived we had to get the waiter's attention because items had been forgotten. Our table was not in any way a priority. The next day as we prepared to setup the reception room we were told we had to wait because they had a staff conference scheduled in the room for early afternoon. Thankfully my wife reminded them, the room was under contract and was to be available to us during their scheduled meeting, they would need to find a different meeting place or reschedule it. Once the event coordinator arrived things seemed to go a little better. I honestly thought we would have met with her upon our checking in. I belive we could have avoided any issues if we could have reviewed the schedule at check in The rooms were very pricey but were not what I would call fancy at all. "Rustic" is sometimes a good thing but often you pay accordingly. The room cost is more of a fee for the view. The reception room and area were great. Not only was the room very nice but it included the patio where a fire was started and most of the guests gathered after dinner. Other than the waiter, the staff were friendly and responsive to most requests.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Emerald Lake Lodge. Like everywhere else there are pros and cons. Pros: Location and views of course Good food and drinks at the lounge Cozy and clean room Nice clubhouse with sauna and hot tub Cons Room smells VERY strongly of smoke. If you are sensitive to smells I think it would be very hard to stay here. Shuttle is inconvenient especially with a lot of luggage Lady working the coffee stand was not very personable/nice but I didn’t really care. No discount for guests on the canoes. This was really disappointing as the hotels on Lake Louise and Moraine offer discount to guests who stay there. I see a lot of people listing the day visitors and lack of service/wifi as cons but that was expected to me so I don’t hold that against the place at all. I enjoyed being able to disconnect and also of course there’s going to be day visitors the lodge is right on the famous Emerald Lake. I also see people saying the rooms are outdated but my room felt great and cozy. It was exactly as pictured online.

This is an amazing place to stay. Can't beat the location, service from everyone (young Kids), who were extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms were perfect, with all we needed. Slept well and loved going out early in the morning to just stand on the bridge.

Siwash Lake Wilderness Resort is a prestigious luxury dude ranch and remote wilderness retreat, renowned worldwide for its intimate atmosphere and sophistication. It attracts discerning active travelers who crave authentic adventure, freedom, and enriching experiences. Nestled in British Columbia's cowboy country, this private hideaway stands as one of Canada's finest luxury wilderness lodges—a true family-owned guest ranch.
Our family of four stayed at Siwash Lake for one week and loved every minute of it. The food was amazing — fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The activities were the highlight: horseback riding, swimming in a crater lake, archery, river day, and so much more. Special shoutout to Emma and Michaela, our wonderful riding guides, and Olivia, who taught us so much about the land and even which wild berries we could eat! Allison and Marshall, the owners, were incredibly kind and checked in with us every evening to hear how our day went — such a thoughtful and personal touch. The small number of guests gave the whole experience a very personal and intimate feel, making everything even more special. The staff made us feel so welcome and everything was done with care and heart. Truly a magical place we’ll never forget.

Our family of four, with two teenage boys (15 and 16), spent five unforgettable nights at Siwash Wilderness Resort - truly exceeding all expectations. We felt warmly welcomed by the professional, friendly, and genuinely caring team. The experience gave us the chance to reconnect, laugh, and enjoy quality time as a family in the most stunning natural setting imaginable. The food was exquisite—each meal felt like a special occasion, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. As well-travelled guests, we honestly did not expect to find such an exceptional standard of food and drinks in such a remote location. The special drink at happy hour quickly became a favorite for the parents and was the perfect way to end a day full of adventures. Siwash Wilderness Resort is not just a place to stay—it’s an experience that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit. We leave with hearts full of gratitude and wonderful memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.

This was quite literally the best family vacation we have ever had. For starters, the staff are absolutely incredible; all of them are so knowledgeable, respectful, and kind. The food is superb— genuinely some of the best food we’ve ever had— and definitely rivals that of high-end restaurants. The location is also hauntingly beautiful. It is absolutely breathtaking to see how the wildlife and foliage is thriving as it recovers from the wildfires in 2018. It creates a truly unique landscape of death and rebirth that is absolutely stunning. Our favorite activity by and large was the horseback riding. The horses were so well-trained and sweet and getting paired with a horse to ride the entire duration of the stay allows for genuine bonding between us and the horses. All in all, this place is phenomenal and we truly had no complaints. Thank you to all the amazing people who worked so hard to give us such a perfect experience!

Siwash Lake Luxury Resort and Ranch exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like family—warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience. The food was absolutely phenomenal—fresh, locally sourced, and beautifully presented with every meal feeling like a special occasion. Our stay in the loft accommodation was nothing short of magical—spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully designed with stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. The activities were a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation—from horseback riding and archery to nature walks and yoga, there was something for everyone. Every detail was crafted with care, and it truly felt like a luxury escape into nature. Highly recommend! Thanks Alyson and Marshall and all the staff!

We spent a week at Siwash and were blown away by the hospitality of the property owners, phenomenally friendly staff, amazing outdoor activities and superb food. From start to finish, Siwash delivers at a level unmatched by any of the usual 5* (boutique) resorts. It’s so much more intimate, personal, engaging. A little skeptical before we got there, we became Siwash fans in no time. If you are up for memories that last a lifetime, we highly recommend you to immerse yourself in the amazing world of its own that Allison, Marshall and their wonderful staff created.
Stefan H — Google review
I had the time of my life up there! This is one of the most beautiful and secluded places I have visited. The ranch is perfect, actually, everything is perfect! Its design and architecture is gorgeous. You get to stay in a luxury tent on a hill top with a fire fed hot tub overlooking the best sunset ever. With some bald eagles flying over the peaceful lake and a view over the entire ranch and mountain range. It was all lit up in pink.as the sun went down. Everyone was so polite and knowledgeable. They take more care of you than any other place. I highly recommend it for people looking for adventure!

July 2025. Our family (including an 8 and a 10 year old) have just returned from a week at Siwash Lake. It is hard to find the words to express the beauty of this place, and the amazing staff/guides (!), and the food and the accommodations. I searched for a remote lodge, but had zero notion of how spectacular this place would be. We rode, floated down rivers, and hiked down into a crater. (For starters!) We slept in dreamy tents with glass ceilings above our heads. We are city slickers from Los Angeles, and the boys want to move there! We loved it! P.S. The food utterly divine - no kidding. Don't know how they do it, but wow.
Whitney G — Google review
Overall, it’s been an unforgettable experience in an ideal setting, surrounded by nature and wild beauty. Olivia, Emma and Ethan really made the difference with their warm and professional service. The rooms are perfect, and the setting and activities are definitely worth repeating. The meals were very “French” – portions on the smaller side but nicely presented. I did miss having some carbs, especially at lunch, to keep up the energy for the afternoons.

Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort is a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of 30,000 square miles of British Columbia's wilderness. Accessible by helicopter, this all-inclusive resort offers a range of rugged activities such as heli-fishing, river rafting, and grizzly bear spotting. After an adventurous day, guests can unwind with deluxe massage services including Shiatsu and Ayurvedic treatments. The resort has received accolades for its environmentally sustainable initiatives.
A beautiful relaxed get away from the concrete village, a place to get in touch with nature; whether it's kicking back in your cabin to fine dining in the main building known as Little River. Or take a heli ride up to a glacier or cast your rod while you fish along a river. So many more activities to do. Most importantly a place to relax, unwind and just be. 💜💫🐋🐬🦐🌲🌿🍃🐿🐻🦌🫎 Oh and to end your day, kick back and soak in the hot tubs located by the water fall.
Colleen S — Google review
Nimmo Bay is truly the trip of a lifetime, and I don't say that lightly! Our family of four stayed for 3 nights in August and it was one of the most magical experiences: hot tubs and cold dipping in the waterfall; hiking through the forest with our amazing guides; floating sauna and picnic lunch; and an incredible day on the coastal safari where we were fortunate enough to have a very special wildlife sighting. And this does not even cover the highly personalized service (cookies waiting in your cabin; all your gear pre-picked out and hanging on your labelled hook) which is off the charts. One afternoon our guide asked my daughters about their favourite chip flavours and the next day they had the exact chips packed in our picnic lunch. How is that even possible? The staff are fabulous, the food is delicious, the setting is magic. We will never forget this trip!
Linsey S — Google review
This resort is one of the best experiences of my lifetime. The location, hospitality, ambience, wellness component was second to none. Thank you to the Murray family for setting a standard of excellence in one of the most beautiful corners of the world.

This is my second visit and it only got better. It is a well known fact that this is one of the best wilderness resorts in the world. Now the resort added new activities which only makes the experience even better. We saw bears, whales, dolphins, seals and sea lions. A lot of birds if you are birder. Viewing bears has been raised to new level - pun intended- an echo sensitive canopy has been built high above the trees and you can view bears without disturbing them - a grizzly with three Cubs hang out for a long time without a care that we were watching them from above. The lodge arranged for sleep out under the stars away from the lodge in the wilderness - it was spectacular. The staff as always were outstanding and food delicious they cater to all type of food sensitivities. Just go there and they will do the rest!
Sridhar C — Google review
Nimmo Bay is the closest we have ever come to experiencing heaven on earth! We've been fortunate to travel to many parts of the world but one aspect about this exquisite wilderness lodge sets it far above the rest. Visiting Nimmo Bay isn't just a place, it's an experience, and during our stay we felt so deeply valued and cared for. How is it possible to step off a float plane, in a remote part of the Great Bear Rainforest, into a community that warms your heart and excites your soul? The answer is the incredible family and staff who are the heartbeat of Nimmo Bay. Everyone at Nimmo was so attentive and passionate about our experience. We learned so much from our guides and as they taught us about the area we felt more connected with every passing minute. Each day started with looking out the window to a stunning view of the forest meeting the ocean casting an enchanting reflection. We sipped on beautiful coffee before starting with a morning kayak. We returned to the most delicious food I could ever dream up. We went for a boat ride where we saw bears, a mama looking for food with her cubs, sea lions, birds and eagles galore. Where else in the world does your guide dive off the boat to gather ingredients for the chef, while you relax surrounded by the most serene Westcoast backdrop? We had the honor of meeting community members in Echo Bay followed by the most incredible picnic under a cherry blossom tree. The meal featured the choice of beer or wine, epic homemade soup, the greatest sandwich and dessert then we zipped off to see the most stunning waterfall I've ever laid eyes on. Back to the lodge for champagne in the hot tub by the waterfall before a 4 star meal and a beautiful fire on the dock with blankets and delicious wine. The following day we hiked through old growth forest before getting picked up by boat, and casually dropped off at private floating sauna dock. That's right, a private floating sauna dock featuring a delicious meal and dips in the ocean. We had the entire bay to ourselves. I'm still waiting for someone to pinch me because this is what dreams are made of. Every single detail is so carefully thought out and tailored to the exact experience you desire. If I could only go on one more trip in my life, it would be to Nimmo Bay. Thank you for the most special and incredible experience!
Erin B — Google review
This place.... where to begin. The location and setting is fantastic. That’s about where it ends. The food was terrible, the service was awful, the cabins are average. Which leads me to my next problem. Nimmo Bay needs to hire locals who know the areas. The staff is all Australian or from metropolitan cities who know nothing about where they are. It’s cringe inducing. The owners are quite clueless as to how their resort should be staffed. I would not recommend this place to anybody.
Noella E — Google review
I've been to many places all over the world and I can't say there is any place like this. It is truly an exceptional, unique experience. It's almost indescribable. Land on a glacier for lunch, fish for thousands of salmon, hike among the forest with trees that touch the sky, feast on fresh crab from the ocean at your table. This is a 5 star location, 5 star experience, 5 star food and even more so, 5 star people. Go often...I will.

Nipika Mountain Resort is an eco-friendly lodge located in the scenic Kootenay National Park. With secluded cabins nestled amidst a peaceful meadow, guests can immerse themselves in the stunning natural surroundings. The resort prides itself on its sustainable practices and offers a range of outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing on the extensive trail network.
We’ve been coming to. Nipika in a large group for coming up 15 years and it just keeps improving each time we come. Lyle and crew do an amazing job of maintaining the cabins and property and tweaking the experience for the better every time - for instance this year a mud room has been added to many properties which makes for great gear storage. The cabins are extremely rustic but everything you need is there - great coffee, lovely toiletries and decor. Missed saying hi to Lyle this time around but my wife met a couple of staff members to buy a cool picture and some biking jerseys. The staff are there if needed but never seen which makes the experience that much better when you’re there with a large group. The dynamic changes year to year as kids grow into adults but everyone just finds what they want to do and their group and get on with enjoying the place - a magical experience always ! Thanks guys and see you next May long ! Rob

It was our first visit to this resort and we had an absolute blast! We did not stay in the rooms so no rating for accommodations. The drive in is a gravel road and we met a few logging trucks on the way. The turnoff from the highway is not well marked so be sure to have your navigation started before travelling through the zone without cellular service. The trails were immaculately maintained and the lady at the front desk was very helpful in getting us in gear and on the trail. The trails and the views were beautiful, we went all the way to the natural bridge. I did find that the trails were not well marked so being newbies, it took some time to figure out where we were going and I would recommend to take a photo of the map before heading out. The people we met on the trails were very friendly which added to an overall positive experience. We will be back!

These cabins are a perfect blend of rustic and comfort! The location is wonderful - we did some nice hikes. I would love to try out the skiing in the winter. We loved the operators Lyle and Steve (Dianne wasn't around) and having horses wandering about was a nice surprise. We are already talking about our next trip.
Miles N — Google review
Didn’t stay at the resort but spent a day on the cross-country trails. We had a large group and absolutely zero experience with cross-country skiing. The host was patient with all of us and helped us get our gear. The trails are well-maintained and very beautiful. The trail we took was 45-37-38-30-43-44-37-45 (see map). In all, it took us the whole day but if you have a smaller group and/or more experience, you could definitely complete it much much faster.
Caleb C — Google review
Our stay at Nipika Mountain Resort was that of pure bliss. So much so, we tried to stay again for the last leg of our trip instead of camping as intended. Not surprisingly, everything was already booked 🙃 At Nipika, you can expect to feel like you’ve been transported back in time but comfortably. From the long gravel road to get there (complete with a brown bear munching on shrubs) to the spotty Wifi, to the picturesque mountain views. Things feel free and simple. Like a long and much needed exhale. Some of our favorite things to do during our stay was exploring the many singletrack trails on our mountain bikes. Constantly stopping marvel at our surroundings. Spending time heating up in the sauna before jumping from the floating dock into the (polar) pond. Curling up in front of the wood burning stove while reading. And playing games at the kitchen table while cracking the Dutch Door to let the fresh air in. Our two-night stay felt drastically short, but I know I will be back again one day 💙 Nipika is a gem nestled away from everyday life, I’d be shocked if it doesn't imprint on your heart as well.
Kaylie K — Google review
Note: Fat bike trails review ONLY I’ve been to Nipika for fatbiking twice now, and I have been blown away by the quality of riding every time! The fat bike trails, while not as popular as the skiing, does not feel like an afterthought! You can tell whoever is in charge of creating and maintaining the trails is a rider themselves. It feels like care has been taken to make the routes fun to ride. And of course they are very on top of the grooming. If you enjoy fatbiking, you will not regret coming here! The views and riding quality are world class.
Mackenzie B — Google review
The cabins were cozy an off-grid not a lot of amenities but meant to be grassroots. Great activities included with the resort fees. Frisbee golf, mountain bike skills, pond and fatbikes for your use. The coup de gras is that you can ride trails right over your door. The Kootenay Krusher is a MUST ride. It's amazing.

Cabana Desolation Eco Resort is situated on a secluded island in the midst of Desolation Sound, near the uppermost point of the Strait of Georgia. Each aspect of your stay guarantees a distinct encounter, including an 8 nautical mile journey by kayak or boat to reach your destination. The cabanas are thoughtfully crafted using locally sourced western red cedar and douglas fir, drawing inspiration from eco-resort accommodations in Costa Rica.
THE way to experience and explore Desolation Sound but do not come here expecting to rough it. The guides, gear, food and accommodations are all top notch. It's quite a treat to come back from a day of paddling to a hot shower and an amazing dinner. Best of all...a totally committed owner (shout out to Adam and family) who have created a strong guest service culture at this unique off the grid location. Already planning our next trip!

This is an amazing place to spend a few days. The cabins are comfortable and clean, the food is top quality (and very accommodating to our vegan lifestyle), and the staff are relaxed and kind. They even offer classy touches like French press coffee brought to our room each morning. My wife and I stayed for the 2nd time in July 2025. Both times, we have kayaked to the lodge and spent days kayaking on our own. They also offer a guided option. Highly recommend for those who want active plus some touches of luxury!

This was an incredible experience. The kayaking was great, the resort felt incredibly luxurious, and the food was astounding! The hot showers and actual toilets rounded off the stay beautifully. We had three course dinners that rivalled 5-star restaurants. Our guides, Eric and Abi, and the chef, Faisal, were brilliant. Definitely recommend doing this.

My mom and I had an incredible 3 night stay at the Cabana! We kayaked there, which was challenging but doable. The resort is rustic but somehow felt high-end, with flushing eco-toilets and even hot showers! The food was incredible, restaurant quality. They even bring you coffee each morning to your cabin. We felt so spoiled! It was a trip we will never forget!

Nestled in the wilderness of Tofino, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge offers a luxurious camping experience with safari-chic tents and gourmet meals. The 5-star retreat features 25 prospector-style tents along an estuary, each equipped with elegant furnishings, large beds, and washroom facilities. Accessible only by boat or floatplane from Tofino, this off-grid luxury resort provides a remote getaway on the shores of Clayoquot Sound.
What a magical place! The location is only accessible by boat or seaplane. The food is spectacular and local wherever possible. The staff were first class. Everyone we met were friendly and knowledgeable. The excursions were all unique and a ton of fun. This place is one of a kind.

WOW what an experience! There are places that take your breath away—and then there’s Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, where even your soul exhales. Tucked away between old-growth rainforest and the wild Pacific, this extraordinary sanctuary delivers luxury so seamlessly woven into nature that it feels like it was always meant to be there. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just a resort—it was a community. The people at Clayoquot are as warm and grounding as the cedar that lines the en-suite bathrooms of the luxury tents (which, by the way, have heated floors—a welcome surprise after misty morning hikes or river adventures). Their hospitality is sincere, their smiles constant, and their passion for this land palpable. Each day held something unforgettable: horseback rides through lush forest paths, gourmet meals with ingredients sourced from the very land and sea around us, and soul-stirring hikes through towering old-growth trees. Knowing that this ancient ecosystem is actively protected—thanks in part to Clayoquot’s support of partners like Seaflora Skincare and the Ancient Forest Alliance—made every step feel purposeful. It’s rare to find a place so deeply committed to preserving the magic it shares. The line between luxury and wilderness blurs here. You might wake up to the call of eagles, spend your afternoon kayaking alongside sea lions, and come home to a turn-down service in your tent that rivals the finest hotels—all in the same day. Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is exceptional in every way. But what truly sets it apart isn’t the stunning setting or five-star comforts—it’s the people who make you feel like you belong in this wild, wonderful place. And once you’ve been, a piece of your heart will always remain there.

Don't think about it...just go. The MANY guided activities, cuisine, property, accommodations, and BAR are exceptional. The staff however, is BEYOND exceptional , 10 stars. While this venue may be financially out of reach for many people, it is 100% worth every penny. So if you get the opportunity to visit CWL...a truly heavenly place, don't hesitate for a second. If you want to lay around at a luxury hotel and get pampered, go to the Four Seasons. If you want an experience of a lifetime... go to CWL.

We just returned home from Clayoquot Lodge. It’s was an incredible experience. If you love the outdoors, this tranquil gem is a must visit. Amazing outdoor activities, exceptional staff and unmatched hospitality including the lodging, dining and amenities. Don’t miss visiting this lodge, you will not regret it. My husband and I had a lovely long weekend at Clayoquot. Everything was perfect: the good, staff, accommodation, activities, weather. Everyone was relaxed and having fun. The guides are super attentive to the guest and incredibly knowledgeable. We will be back :)

The most wonderful personalised stay, everything about this lodge brought a smile to our faces. You are greeted from the seaplane by welcoming faces and their two dogs then whisked to the lodge and handed sparkling wine whilst being orientated. The tented lodging is gorgeous, our room kitted out with chairs overlooking the river, comfortable bed and bathroom indoors. Coffee was delivered to your tent to enjoy pre breakfast each morning. The food and beverage was also delicious throughout, and would particularly like to comment on how excellent the pastry chef is. There were a variety of activities offered which were ran in small groups and very enjoyable such as hiking, kayaking, whale watching. We had some excellent guides / activity leaders and would like to call out MC who runs the cold plunge sessions and two of the hiking guides we had, Luke and Jared. Although the above experience does come at a sizeable cost, if you are considering a stay here, don’t hesitate, just book, I imagine we will be back ourselves one day!

Nestled in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, Spirit Bear Lodge is a remote waterfront retreat owned by the local Indigenous community. Accessible via air from Vancouver, this eco-cultural immersion destination offers warm and comfortable rooms with breathtaking views. From June to October, guests can embark on guided tours to explore the rich history of the area and encounter a diverse range of wildlife including wolves, whales, grizzlies, black bears, and the elusive spirit bear.
We visited Spirit Bear Lodge in late August, with hopes of seeing bears. This fantastic lodge exceeded our expectations in every way! The rooms were comfortable, clean and a great size, with views over the water. Food was tasty and varied, including great vegetarian meals having informed the lodge in advance. Our guides were very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and despite some bad luck with bear sightings the first couple of days, we had great viewings of Grizzlies on day 3. Beyond this, the lodge and viewing sites are in an out of this world beautiful and remote setting, we were lucky enough to see a variety of marine wildlife including humpback whales, sea otters and a distant glimpse of an elephant seal! Outside of the wildlife it was a wonderful experience to stay in a first nations run lodge, hear more about the history and stewardship of local people, and be honoured to visit the local Big House. This cultural learning was a huge part of what made the visit special and we very much appreciated the Kitasoo/Xai'Xais staff at the lodge sharing their knowledge and stories with us, and welcoming us to visit their territory. Would definitely highly recommend this lodge!

Extraordinary people, lodge and stewardship of the land as well as all the wondrous creatures, trees, sedge, shorelines and sea. The hospitality was fantastic and warm. I really appreciated the local indigenous perspectives, as well as those shared by non-indigenous staff who had worked abroad. The guest cohort was lovely too. Seeing a spirit bear in the last hour of the last day was only the icing on the cake for this experience. As a guest, if you have a hard time with sedentary activities, bring a book and have the realistic expectation that you will have to be still and quiet in the forest while bear watching.

It is not easy to write this review. I wanted to say that I loved everything, but I have to be honest with myself. The positives: friendly staff, pristine nature, great effort from the community to conserve the environment. The less positives: 1). Lack of communication: considering our sole purpose was to see the Spirit Bears since we've seen the other wildlife elsewhere, we were not consulted about the itineraries and priorities at all. We were simply assigned to a different route each day, with only one day (the last day) going to where the spirit bears were. 2). Lack of staff training: we were barely greeted by anyone other than the chief. When we arrived at the airport and when we boarded the boat each day, there was barely any acknowledgement from the staff, not even a smile. We had to ask them what their names were. 3). The programs were too passive, designed for people who don't want to move all day. We would spend the entire day (from 8am - 6pm) on boats, and sitting on logs and grounds with minimal walking. It would be nice if we were offered an opportunity to hike/walk more, to kayak. 4). Meals were rather unbalanced in terms of greens - breakfasts had no vegetables at all; two out of four dinners barely had any vegetables.

Everyone at the Spirit Bear lodge is so wonderful and we had an amazing experience. From the moment we got off the plane our time was filled with tours to see all the life in the area. The prepared food was fantastic & delicious. We were told stories and history of the area and the Kitasoo/Xaixais. What an incredible personal experience. When we missed a travel connection, they made sure we were taken care of. Thank you Spirit Bear Lodge.
Jason H — Google review
This is one of those tricky reviews to write as I have conflicting thoughts and feelings, so here are my thoughts: We had a very enjoyable trip, had some excellent wildlife encounters, were hosted in a great lodge by really nice people, enjoyed the food (a bit light on the veggies at times), were totally charmed by the territory and scenery, and truly enjoyed learning about the culture of the Kitasoo Xai'Xais. The Kitasoo Xai'Xais have done a fantastic job in protecting their territory, and preserving the beautiful land and wildlife for future generations. Their stewardship is world leading. The downside was that we didn't see a spirit bear, but that in and of itself is not an issue as no one can control the wildlife. The issue was that we were not given many chances to see spirit bears, and that is totally in the control of management. Of our full 3 days of excursions, it was only the last day we actually went to try and see the spirit bears. That was very disappointing because seeing spirit bears was the primary reason we (and many others in our group) went to Spirit Bear Lodge. Considering that a large number of people there had previous experience with brown bear and black bear sightings (us included), I feel that there should have been more of a focus on trying to accomplish the goal of seeing the spirit bears for the guests that were staying at SBL for that primary purpose. In previous wildlife trips I have taken we would be asked what we wanted to see as a priority, and then set out on the first day to see the target animal, if we don't see any then we go again the next day, and the next until time runs out. If we don't find it, that's fine, but at least we tried at every opportunity. Here at SBL we didn't have the opportunity to really try, having just one out of three days looking was simply not enough. I write this so that A) hopefully management will read and consider how to manage plans allowing guests every chance possible to see a spirit bear if that is their goal, and B) so that you will know the current way things operate and what to expect. We weren't told that we will only be given 1 day out of 3 to try and find the spirit bears, and we only learned it once we were in the boat the first day when we were told we were going to a brown bear estuary. In conclusion, it is a wonderful place to visit, and if you are looking for a broad range of scenery and wildlife experiences then it is a fantastic trip and highly recommended. But if you are looking to specifically add a spirit bear sighting to your wildlife experiences, then you really do need to temper your expectations. I only mark it down to 3 stars simply because I wasn't given the opportunity to really pursue a spirit bear sighting when that was my primary purpose of visiting.

We had an amazing stay at Spirit Bear lodge. It is in Klemtu, which means that you are guests of the Kitasoo/Xaixais. The location is beautiful and really remote and There is one flight a day to Bella Bella from Vancouver followed by a two hour boat ride. We were met at Bella Bella by the Spirit Bear Lodge and they really look after you from the minute you arrive. We were only there for 3 nights which isn’t long enough. The lodge is lovely and comfortable and the food is amazing with all dietary requirements dealt with appropriately. The main reason for visiting is to see bears, but we were rewarded with lots of other wildlife ranging from humpbacks to bald eagles. Our guides were incredibly enthusiastic and seemed to revel in the encounters as much as we did. They kept us safe in bear country but also provided with amazing encounters. I can’t recommend Spirit Bear Lodge enough, however you need to be aware that due to the location and nature of the wildlife the following applies: - It is really remote. You may not get there on time or get out as planned. They are at the mercy of the weather and the Pacific Coastal airline schedule. If Pacific Coastal don’t fly you will arrive late or get stuck. The lodge strongly advises getting travel insurance and you really might need it. - It is not a zoo! You will have to walk along some quite rough paths and get out of small boats onto rocky beaches. You will then sit for 4-5 hours being still and quiet to try and see the bears. It all passed really quickly for us, but if you get bored easily this might not be for you. - These are wild animals in their natural environment. You could spend all this money, sit for hours in the rain and not see any bears. The Spirit Bear in particular is one of the rarest mammals on the planet and sightings are rare. Saying that, being with a Spirit Bear Lodge gives you the greatest chance you could ever have, but you need to be realistic about your expectations. We got stuck due to airline delays and the lodge team worked their butts off to get us back (30 hours later than planned) and looked after us wonderfully. This is not your everyday wildlife tour and we would come back in a heartbeat. Finally I would say that we came purely for the bears but the welcome and insight into the Kitasoo/Xaixais culture was a major highlight.

The rooms all have ocean views. The staff works incredibly hard to make sure your stay is as good as it can be. The sincere sharing of cultural stories is very meaningful. The wildlife viewing is exceptional.

A once in lifetime experience where you are immersed into a beautiful protected rainforest to see bears, whales, and other animals in their natural habitats. The Spirit Bear Lodge is an exceptional ecolodge located in the Great Bear Rainforest. The Kitasoo Xai'xais First Nation guides and staff teach you about their heritage while also leading by example the importance of not disturbing the habitats and not disturbing the bears. The bears were fishing for salmon and could careless about us and this is all because of the trusting relationship the locals have built.

Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, originally a hunting and fishing lodge established in 1929, is nestled within the expansive Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. This historic resort offers rustic log cabins along the riverside, providing a cozy retreat for nature enthusiasts. The lodge serves as a gateway to Canada's rugged northwestern shoreline and is renowned for wildlife sightings. Guests can embark on guided grizzly bear tours or observe these majestic creatures from the lodge's viewing platform overlooking the Atnarko River.
My husband and I spent a long weekend here for my birthday and from the moment our plane landed on the gravelly runway and we were whisked away to the lodge, we were immersed in something magical. The accommodations are comfortable–rustic, yet modern and luxurious, the staff was attentive, we climbed a via ferrata, and the food was so delicious. I still think about a mushroom couscous dish I ate that was out-of-this-world. Plus, we got to see so many grizzly bears, which I LOVED. Would go again and again!

Stayed here three nights in October. Overall, beautiful lodge with wonderful facilities considering the remote location. The food and drinks were good and I liked that they had a snack station and hot drinks to take away on trips. The bar staff were exceptional. The reason it doesn’t deserve five stars is for the poor value for money and the hospitality of the guides and maintenance staff. First, we had an issue with the outside lights of our cabin, which shone into our room all night. The blinds in the room were too thin but the bar staff on duty did offer us blankets to put over the windows and provided sleeping masks. I understand that lights are essential for safety but making them automatic and having thicker curtains in the rooms is something I would expect for a place that prides itself in providing excellence. The other thing that irked me was the gratuity form that was slipped into our room on our last day. The lodge recommends a tip of CAD 75-100 per guest per day!!! It might be because I come from Europe but I would never expect a place that charges over £1000 per guest per night to ask for this so bluntly. Although, we gave what we thought they deserved, this kind of boldness comes across as rude. This leads me to the final point. The guides at the lodge were variable in their enthusiasm and knowledge. We had one guide who looked like he couldn’t be bothered. He told us that he doesn’t like speaking when going down the river drifts, so we spent our first day feeling awkward. The guide on our second day was friendly and knowledgeable, so at least then we got to learn more about the valley then. Overall, I’d say I’m disappointed with the nature tours here. All we were offered was walks and river drifts. While that in itself is not bad, the level of detail in which they were provided was poor. For the price, I’d also expect a lot more choice in activities and flexibility in timing. We did see some bears, which was cool but that was about it. Although we had a good time and saw some beautiful things, I wouldn’t say this lodge is special considering some of the other places I visited in Canada

Amazing team of people at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge. Everyone goes out of their to ensure your stay is as perfect as it can be. The guides are extremely knowledgeable on a range of "nature questions" and are really into what they do. The food is also incredible, kudos to the chef! All up, an incredible experience from pick up to drop off.

Incredible setting, amazing, attentive staff, great amenities, fantastic food and wonderful rooms. This was an amazing little getaway that our entire family loved. Riley, Jenn, Ava and Shanti helped make our stay unforgettable. The cabins were perfect. Very clean, well maintained with unparalleled views. The beds were supportive clouds, in the best possible way as someone who usually only likes super firm beds, and the bedding was above average. All of our food and drinks were excellent and our kids loved the games and activities. As an added bonus we had a HUGE grizzly give us a show one evening. We cannot wait to go back. Incredible value when compared to similar properties in other locations. This is a hidden gem!

A fabulous experience. What stands out is the exceptional staff and deep experience and passion for the area and the wildlife they share. Being close to grizzlies and other wildlife in such a stunning location, with great food and wine are the cherries on top. Remarkable.

I had a wonderful time at the lodge! The staff was very friendly, welcoming and accommodating and the cabin was just beautiful! I loved the decoration of the room and it was very clean! The meals were outstanding!!! Our dinner was made exactly to order and we even got to see bears on the lawn while eating! We had the chance to do a rafting trip and the staff was very knowledgeable about bears, salmon as well as nature and the surrounding area. The viewing platform offers a great chance of watching for wildlife and I could have stayed there for hours just enjoying nature! The hot tub and gym are also very clean and you get to enjoy great views of the lodge and the lawn where we had seen the bears. All in all this was a great stay and experience and I can’t wait to go back!!

Nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains near the British Columbia/Alberta border, Cathedral Mountain Lodge offers a picturesque retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. The lodge provides easy access to Yoho and Banff National Parks, making it an ideal base for activities like mountain biking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, fishing, and hiking. Guests can choose from various cozy log cabin options with modern amenities such as decks and soaking tubs.
We absolutely loved our time at Cathedral Lake Lodge! The staff were FANTASTIC. You can get hikers lunches packed for you which is awesome. There’s a shuttle to Moraine which is a nice touch. The cabins are really nice (family of 4) - our boys could have their own beds in the loft. We’re along the river and it was just so peaceful The restaurant was nice but way overpriced for what it offered. But the staff (again) were awesome!

Cathedral Mountain Lodge has a truly unique charm. The location is stunning—tucked away in the forest with a beautiful lake right beside it, the setting feels peaceful and close to nature. It’s the kind of place where you can disconnect and just enjoy the serenity of the outdoors. The lodge itself has a rustic vibe, which adds to the character, but I did notice that the rooms weren’t as clean as expected. While the rustic style was part of the appeal, a bit more attention to cleanliness would have made the stay even more comfortable. On the positive side, the food and service were both very good. The meals were flavorful and satisfying, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making the overall experience enjoyable. Overall, it’s a beautiful property in an incredible location, perfect for those who love nature and a more rustic stay. With a little improvement in housekeeping, this could easily be a 5-star experience.

Stayed here for 2 nights end of sept. We have been cabin hopping for the past number of years during fall. Cabins are well appointed and the lodge food was very good. The drawback of this place is the price. Not worth it in my opinion. To access the trails you can save some dough and stay in lake louse or field for a more cost effective vacation. Moraine lake lodge is the same price and you can get a cabin with lake view, breakfast, packed lunch and afternoon tea/cookies - much better value. Cathedral mountain does offer a hot breakfast included in your stay but that’s it. Not worth it in my opinion. If you are here I highly recommend checking out Takakkaw falls: 15 min drive up the road and the trail is paved the entire way to the falls. Wapta falls is 20 min drive farther past field and very impressive, easy hike. Sherbrooke lake is 10 min drive down the road. Trail is easy with a slight incline 160m but a stunning lake you can reach in a hour from the trailhead, if you are adventurous continue along the left of the lake and back into the alpine to reach Sherbrooke falls (30 min from the end of the lake) keep going to reach Nial Meadow (another 20-30min from falls) you can keep going to Nial Mountain but that probably another hour and a half - 3 hours not sure. For Wapta and Sherbrooke I would recommend hiking boots. Hiking poles very helpful for Sherbrooke.

Great location, extremely picturesque, very accessible. Close enough to lake Louis and field. Rooms were great, as advertised. Noise not an issue as we brought ear plugs. Dining room/kitchen was overpriced, food did not meet our expectations.

Lovely accommodation and main lodge. Evening meals very good. Disappointed that main lodge closed at 11.00p.m. Breakfast was a farce - you had to stick exactly to the menu, couldn't replace poached eggs with fried and couldn't even get a piece of toast with butter. Not what I expect from a resort of this standard at all.

Cathedral Mountain Lodge is absolutely outstanding! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond in every way imaginable. Their genuine warmth and attention to detail made us feel not just welcomed, but truly cared for. Every interaction felt personal, thoughtful, and special — they constantly looked for ways to make our stay even better, and it showed. The setting itself is breathtaking, but what really made the experience unforgettable was the level of service. It’s rare to see a team so committed to creating memorable moments and going out of their way to ensure every guest feels valued. The combination of luxury, coziness, and world-class hospitality is unmatched. Our time here was nothing short of magical, and we left with full hearts and incredible memories. If you’re considering a stay — don’t hesitate. This is the kind of place that turns a trip into a once-in-a-lifetime experience! 100000/10 Would stay here again in a heart beat!

Beautiful! Due to a little confusion, we actually stayed here in error but are very grateful this happened! The location is perfect for access to Yoho National Park, Takakkaw Falls (these are a must-see!!) and runs alongside the river. There's several detached lodges and whilst not all of them are going to have the breath-taking views, you do have easy access to the riverbank where you can sip a drink, enjoy the firepit and from there, be able to see the surrounding mountains. The food was exceptional but what really makes the place stand out for us was the staff!! A special thank you to: Bethan, Isobel, Sarah, Maude and Ericka for all their help during our stay - whilst all the staff were friendly and welcoming, we got the opportunity to spend some time with these ladies and you are all a credit to Cathedral Mountain Lodge! Thank you :)

We stayed a weekend in their off grid yurt option. And oh my goodness. It was the greatest overnight experience I have ever had! They come equipped with little fireplaces to keep you warm and toasty during the night. It was so awesome not having power. We were able to cook our food using the BBQ they provide. Beds were comfy with lots of extra blankets if needed. Shower and washroom were a quick walk away and clean. There is also access to a private beach which everytime I went to I was literally the only person there. Hosts were super friendly and responsive. Cell service was a bit spotty but I expected to have none. Love that its just tucked away right outside town but felt like you were in the middle of absolutely no where. Will definitely be back for another exceptional experience.

Pictures and videos just don’t do this place justice. I loved everything about this cabin in the woods. I wasn’t able to hear my neighbors. It was so so peaceful and quiet. It had some of the best sunsets that I’ve ever witnessed.

Not sure why other reviews were so scathing about the road! My car is low and about to fall apart and I made it in just fine by going slow. I guess some people are just city folk and scared to bring their car on to gravel.... also the people complaining about no water just didn’t bother to read their check in emails which warned them. The host (zach?) was so helpful and gracious. The place is GORGEOUS. Beautiful sights and felt private. Basic facilities but they did the trick. I will be returning.

NO POTABLE WATER. This is not advertised on the website anywhere. In fact the map shows water icons. They also require “bare” camping. But do not define it. This is not “OFF GRID” or “RESORT”. It is back country, four wheel drive bottom out your trailer access with limited showers, be prepared to camp backcountry style - don’t bring much food or cooking supplies, all must be stored in bear cashes. It is mildly accessible back country style camping at “resort” prices $149/night camping without water. It is highway robbery. Is this even legal? I will be following up with the province on if/any camping business certificate.

Stayed in a Yurt. No potable water, not a drop. Wash your dishes and shower in yellow water. Generators they provide only work for a single lamp apparently and aren't to be used for anything else such as charging a cellphone? Forgot to turn it off and in the middle of the night we were abruptly awoken by a high-pitched squeal coming from the generator. Got a noise complaint on night 1 (the yurts are painfully close together). First morning, tried to shower but the lights turned off every minute because their generator couldn't produce enough power to sustain all bathrooms and 2 were out of service. Few dishes, no seating, subpar bedding situation. The hosts were awkward. We got in on the off season at ~$140/night, basically for a walled shelter and some futons. High season is INSANE, and I would never spend more than we did for the mediocre experience we had. The view is INCREDIBLE, there's that.

We loved our stay here because we read others reviews. We had a beautiful spot beneath giant trees that was very private and surrounded on all sides by gorgeous banana slugs. The beach is perfect with amazing tide pools and rocks all in a pretty private cove. Helpful: the water you can not cook with or drink or even boil, bring water. You can shower but a young child can’t who might drink it. They have a dish wash station. Some spots are way better than others and you can’t change even if it’s wide open because you reserved already, many spots with a gorgeous beach view remained open for our entire stay, we tried to email the operators but never got a response, they are difficult to get ahold of. The camp hosts are a very nice couple who surf all day so you will see them later, they will deliver fire wood if you text them. The rocky drive in is not that bad at all and takes about seven minutes, the first time you will be slower then you will be fine, it’s not an inconvenience at all.

One of the best places to camp, hands down! We camped at this place for 4 days in early September. Place is about 2.5 hours from Nanaimo and once you’re there, you would still have to drive from the highway onto the parking lot. Once you arrive, all you’ll hear is the sound of the ocean. From the parking lot, it was about a 3 minute walk to our campsite. The price was absolutely reasonable, for $99/night per oceanside campsite. It’s worth it. They have strict guidelines on how you should put away anything that has a scent, just store everything in the food caches, if you follow the rules and be diligent, you should be good. Place is 10minutes away from Ucluelet. A great place for camping!

It's a haven for hikers with its jagged mountain peaks, numerous waterfalls, massive glaciers, and towering rock walls. The park offers a variety of hiking experiences, from short treks to rewarding destinations like Wapta Falls and easy strolls around Emerald Lake to multi-day adventures such as the scenic hike to Twin Falls along the Yoho River.
Our visit to Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park was a memorable experience, even with the hazy weather. Just before we parked, we had an incredible encounter with a bear family, which set the tone for the day—wild and awe-inspiring. The lake itself was stunning, with cold, fresh water flowing down from the mountain top. We couldn’t resist soaking our feet in it for a while, feeling the refreshing chill that only nature can provide. The trail around the lake was excellent, offering beautiful views and a peaceful walk that allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the serene surroundings. One of the highlights was the Natural Bridge, a fascinating site that felt like an open-air lesson in ecological history. The way the river had carved its path through the rock over time was truly awe-inspiring. Overall, Emerald Lake offered a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquil adventure, making it a must-visit spot in Yoho National Park.

This park is absolutely stunning! The color of the lake is breathtaking. There is an easy scenic trail around the lake with beautiful views of the mountains and wildflowers. It can get overcrowded so it’s best to visit early in the morning or after 3 PM for a more peaceful experience. Otherwise, it is hard to get a parking spot. June and July are the ideal months to witness the beauty at its peak. A must-visit for nature lovers!

The emerald lake was picture perfect place to visit! Emerald green lake, green tree, well-maintained and pretty place. The cafe is cute. The service was nice. I went in with my family while it was raining hard outside (which doesn’t impact the beauty of the lake). Apparently, my family didn’t want anything since ut’s close to the dinner time but the server was very nice and still took a good care of us despite we only order one cocktail—rose sangria which was delicious. I would recommend this place for anyone.

This is such a beautiful place. I didn't get much time in this park. But everything I've seen is absolutely stunning. I love how beautiful Mother Nature can be. ( the creator)

One of the absolute best national parks! Emerald Lake with its highly accessible, indescribable beauty. Takkakaw Falls, Natural Bridge…just couldn’t be better. Slightly less crowded than neighboring Banff, but still crowded at popular spots in the summer.
Kent 1 — Google review
The park was beautiful… at least the bits we could see! Went at the end of May and almost lot of the major attractions were still closed. This seemed unnecessary given the lack of snow at this time of year. Lake O’Hara busses services weren’t running yet and would have had to walk 11km each way to see it. Takakkaw falls were closed entirely. Only really got to see emerald lake which was super busy. I’m sure it would have been a beautiful 5-star park had we been able to see some of it.
Alex G — Google review
So gorgeous. By far the prettiest place on earth I've been in my life. Please visit if you get the chance, visit all four of the neighboring national parks, they're well worth it.

Amazing scenery at this national Park. Dog friendly trails which is great. Parking is limited at Emerald Lake so get there before or after lunch bus crowds. Nature's bridge is fantastic, small parking lot though

Pipers Lagoon Park is an 8-hectare waterfront park in Nanaimo, offering scenic trails with stunning ocean lookout points and views of historic Shack Island and Neck Point Park. The park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with a variety of bird species to observe including seagulls, horned grebes, sandpipers, loons, kingfishers, and great blue herons.
Loved this stop. The trail is short and offers countless views of the water, little coves, and pretty flowers in bloom (mid may). Was windy but as the trail winds there were moments where we were blocked from the wind.
Laura C — Google review
Great spot to stop by during a Nanaimo trip. It’s a short coastal trail right along the beach with beautiful, breezy views—peaceful and scenic for a picnic or an easy walk. The path runs between water on both sides: a calm lagoon on one side and open ocean on the other. There’s a brief rocky uphill section to cross to the opposite side of the park, but it’s manageable and adds a bit of variety. Overall, a relaxing, low‑effort outing with memorable views.

5/5 Stars Pipers Lagoon Park is a hidden gem! This peaceful retreat offers stunning views, scenic trails, and a beautiful beach. The lagoon's calm waters and surrounding greenery create a serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and nature walks. The park's trails are well-maintained and offer scenic views of the lagoon and surrounding hills. The beach is picturesque, with interesting rocks and tide pools to explore. It's an ideal spot for picnics, reading, or simply unwinding. What I loved most about Pipers Lagoon Park is its tranquility and natural beauty. It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and connect with nature. Highly recommended!

Piper’s Lagoon: where you come for a “quick walk” and end up taking 87 sunset photos, having a deep life reflection, and accidentally following a seagull for 10 minutes. Trails? Peaceful. Views? Instagrammable. Vibes? Immaculate. Just watch out for the tide or you’ll be stranded like a scenic shipwreck. 10/10 would get lost in thought here again.

Ideal spot to catch some absolutely spectacular sunsets, and the occasional moonrise! I’m currently using a mobility scooter for a broken ankle and this whole area is very accessible with the flat lightly gravelled path that goes out along the lagoon to the little island area. Plenty of seating along the way on benches or on giant driftwood logs by the water. This will be a regular destination for me for catching evening sunsets without driving too far.
Jonathan R — Google review
Always a favorite area of Nanaimo, and a popular choice for many. Dogs are invited along too. My Chi, Bob, enjoys all the new scents the ocean brings in, along with finding new critters. Great photo spot and an awesome tree fort!

A pretty park with some nice seaside trails and a cool rock that you can climb to the top for a good view. Beautiful place to go for a walk on a sunny day. Does have public washrooms available. Parking is limited and the small parking lot does seem to fill quickly.
Chris S — Google review
Great beach and wonderful trails. Lots of benches, Lagoon is nice to swim in. Some sandy areas. Lots of beach areas and a great hike around a beautiful scenic island. Views of shack island and more. Lots of benches for relaxing and enjoying the views.

REO Rafting, Glamping & Yoga Resort is a perfect destination for families with older kids seeking an adventurous bonding experience. The resort offers classic amenities like spa days, poolside drinks, and a private beach, but the main attraction is the thrilling white water rafting experience. The adrenaline-pumping activity encourages teamwork and unity among family members. Even nervous guests have praised the staff's patience in making them feel at ease before embarking on the rafting adventure.
I went with my friends for a mini-weekend get away. We were all tired and worn and just needed some natural relaxation. REO was the perfect fit for us. From the phone booking to our last meal, we felt the attentiveness and warmth of the staff and the care of each detail in our vacation. REO has experienced many setbacks from surviving the pandemic to an atmospheric river flood to a wild fire. Despite all this, the resort provided a full array of activities including white water rafting, kayaking/paddle boarding, yoga classes, massage, hammock garden, hot tubs, fire pits for nighttime gatherings and of course, amazing riverside patios. Inside the spacious tents, the bedding was comfortable and warm, and I fell asleep to the sound of the raging river every night. There are single room toilets and showers that were clean and readily available. Every meal was delicious - clean, healthy and satisfying food. But I have to say, my favourite experience was Brian, the owner. He would come around at lunch or dinner time to casually say hi and answered our questions. We were able to let him know our needs and likes and he would so discreetly offer us the best solutions. We felt very well taken care of. This is my second time to REO, I will be returning again with family and friends. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to all Canadians and International visitors looking for either adventure or a place to relax.

Was there for wellness retreat. Beautiful setting... very scenic. Loved sleeping by the roaring river. Friendly and very helpful staff. Retreat leaders Naomi and Ally were knowledgeable and competent. Food was delicious! Only suggestion: Would have appreciated more accommodation for those of us who still love gluten, eggs, and dairy 🙏 Thank you

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My husband and I celebrated our 10-year anniversary just a couple of hours from home at the most charming little gem tucked in the mountains—REO Resort. Our package included everything, but due to feeling unwell, we kept things simple and soaked in the beauty of the resort and the nearby lakes. And truly, that was more than enough. We were blown away by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. The resort was immaculately clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed. Even though the main bathrooms were out of order during our stay (and making the trek every hour while 34 weeks pregnant felt like a hike in itself!), we still had a wonderful experience. The food deserves its own review—every meal was intentional, fresh, healthy, and absolutely delicious. Five-star dining that we’re still dreaming about! It was exactly what we needed. Quiet, restorative, and deeply special. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience here at REO! The amazing: the staff are so friendly and helpful. Bryan and Karen really care about this property and business and it shows in the way they treat each of us like a valued guest. The tents were beautiful and clean, right by the river. The food is homemade, and delicious. It is served by the staff along with some help-yourselves on the side. The good to know, in case you are planning to go: the river noise level is a bit high even for a sound sleeper like me, I would actually recommend wearing light earplugs to block out the loud white noise! The last 8km are all varying levels of gravel, so drive a car that can handle the bumps and pebbles. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering!
Ada — Google review
I met up with 4 long-time friends for a 5 days getaway and we had never been to REO before. It far exceeded my expectations! The yurts were large, comfortable and had excellent deck furniture for hanging out by the river. The food was delicious, fresh, and varied in flavours (and plentiful!). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner Bryan checked in with us every day, and accepted our teasing with ease. They have done an incredible job rebuilding after the devastating forest fire 2 years ago - from the yurts and yoga buildings, to the hammocks and hot tub, dining area and indoor and outdoor showers, it's a treat to visit. We did rafting and yoga, but added on archery when we got there - it was a surprise how much they had to offer! This is a family-run business with a long and dedicated history to this area and it's connection to nature.

Our family had the most enjoyable visit to REO last week. The resort provided exceptional service, including great food, comfortable tents/beds with exceptional river views at each site, and very helpful staff. The river rafting was a great experience, with professional guides who made the trip down river a great one. The Yoga classes were lead by a great instructor with the most beautiful views available. The private beach and hot tub offered a great place to relax and recharge. There was so much to do, we required more time to do it all! Looking forward to our next visit!
Jane S — Google review
We had a girls weekend here and it was lovely. The tent was beside the river with a beautiful deck. The beds were comfortable and it was close to the bathrooms. All of the services were great and the food was fantastic. Massages were great, Yoga was excellent and kayaking was fun. I will definitely be coming again to enjoy more activities.
Martina M — Google review
Truly a wonderful spot. The food was so tasty, seasoned well and delicious. The tents were spacious. We had 4 queens in our room, lots of room to move. Sheets and beds were very comfortable and clean. Bathrooms were convenient and very clean. So much to do. Rafting, kayaking, SUP, massage, bathing, yoga, suntanning, hammocking, star watching, fire pits. We had a wonderful weekend. It’s a very well thought out resort with thoughtful and kind staff.

Nestled in the picturesque Bella Coola Valley, Bella Coola Mountain Lodge offers a laid-back retreat with comfortable rooms and suites. Just a short distance from BC Ferries docks and Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, this lodge is an ideal base for wilderness tours including grizzly bear viewing, eco-rafting, hiking, and salmon snorkeling. The spacious accommodations feature full kitchens and the lodge provides a light continental breakfast to start your day.
Stayed here for two nights and it was cozy, and quiet. The room was a little too warm but with AC at night it was cozy. The highlight was definitely how friendly and welcoming all the staff were! Lovely bunch of people and ready to help with anything you might need.

A brilliant ‘accidental’ find. Can’t fault Shannon, Rita, dogs, big male bear, female bear with cubs, or meandering ducks……. A really lovely place to stay. If we return to Bella Coola, this is where we’ll stay. Our room was just what we needed, allowed us to cook, sleep, and relax. Felt a little like home.
Simon C — Google review
The fridge was loud and on its last legs. The fan made noise. The door to the suite could use a weather strip to keep the cool air out. And the mattress was worn out. Minor upgrades that the owners could consider. But the staff was friendly and helpful. The location and views were stunning. The room with kitchenette was clean and comfortable.
Rhaye H — Google review
I had a large clean room with a kitchenette which is a must when visiting Bella Coola. The owner was lovely and hospitable and the breakfast was very thoughtfully designed to have something for everyone. I'd for sure stay there again next time I'm lucky enough to visit Bella Coola.

I stay in a LOT of hotels around BC for work and the Bella Coola Mountain Lodge is one of the cleanest, friendliest places I've had the pleasure of visiting. Our flight out even got cancelled and they welcomed us back to our rooms with open arms, even going so far as to put together little takeaway breakfasts for us as we were going to leaving really early the next morning. I would happily stay there again for a family vacation.

Great place to stay. The owners Jamie and Pete are super friendly and welcoming. Rooms are all renovated or will be soon. Great little bistro on site. Nice breakfast included - quality foods and baked good. Coffee was very good. About 15 minute drive to Bella Coola. This resort is definitely worth it. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff- welcoming and helpful. Very big room with kitchenette and beautiful bathroom with soaker tub and shower. A king size bed would be a nice addition. Breakfast was great- yogurt, fruit, back goods, toast, bagels, cereals...the homemade granola is fantastic. Good coffee... Good "home" base for exploring the valley. Would definitely book here again!

Guests can indulge in modern fine dining at the lodge's restaurant or host events in the rustic post and beam venue that accommodates up to 90 guests.
My partner and I recently went heliskiing for 3 days with GCH. We had such an incredible time. The guides were so knowledgeable and so smooth in their operations. The skiing was awesome even for it being early in the season. They really knew all the sweet spots to take us to! And the variety in the runs we did really made for tons of fun. It’s hard to pick which ski day was my favorite. But easily some of the best days of my life. I really enjoyed skiing in the small groups/planes. The lodge was so cute and comfortable. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The food really exceeded my expectations. I looked forward to every meal and was never disappointed. I cannot wait to go back!!

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding celebration held at this venue over a couple of days and it was perfect. The main building has a cozy ski chalet feel and the staff was incredible at helping us set up. The accommodations were incredibly cozy, providing a perfect respite after a long day of travel. One of the highlights of my stay was the restaurant. Very friendly staff. Everybody seems happy to be working here. Room is spacious, clean and has a great view of some mountains from Glacier National Park. The food is great. They wood-fire as much as they can including trout, elk, steaks, and some other goodies. The lodge's dining room has a beautiful view. Again, staff is great. We had a great experience. Highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I drove from Calgary and stayed the night. We completely and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our experience there. The lodge is clean and beautiful, the scenery is breathtaking, the food is delicious...so are the cocktails. But most of all, the staff are incredibly friendly. I wish I could remember the name of the lady who served us that night, but you'd know her immediately by her long brown hair and lovely smile. She was awesome to talk with and sweet. However, one of the servers named Dustin was the most friendly server I'd ever encountered at a hotel or lodge. He was kind and funny and spoke with my boyfriend and I about places to visit that are not tourist attractions, so they wouldn't be plagued with people. I highly recommend Heather Mountain Lodge if you are passing through Golden, BC, or if you simply want to randomly stay at a wonderful place. Zero complaints, our entire experience was wonderful.
Lynn B — Google review
This was a last minute decision to stay here and one of the highlights of our trip. The staff were amazing! We perused the dinner menu online before our arrival and everything looked amazing for my two carnivore family members. I don't eat meat and the chef went out of his way to make the most amazing vegan option for me and we sat and leisurely dined in an amazing setting with a gorgeous sunset. I wish we had time for the spa, we'll be back and have already starting telling anyone I know that this is a must stop experience, we just loved it!!!
Mags H — Google review
Stunning location! Beautiful rooms! We enjoyed our stay in the lodge. We loved the spacious room, the large bathroom, the view from our little balcony. Nevertheless, I believe for 5 stars the food would have needed to be a bit better: sides were too fatty, service was rather slow, and we somehow missed the ‘wow’ (particularly when taking the price into account).
Alex Z — Google review
I do not recommend staying at this hotel during the summer months. There is no AC in the room. They do not provide 2nd fan. For 430$ per night, it is not worth the stay. Just a fancy place without AC, microwave, and fridge. The restaurant is overpriced with just 1 vegetarian option. Rather than making us comfortable at the hotel, the front desk asked if I would rather move to another hotel close to Golden. They did say that they will waive off the room charge and just charge us small cleaning fee. Almost as if they didn't want us here.

Our one-night stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge was truly beyond expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and charm. The lodge has that perfect rustic-meets-luxury vibe, nestled in the heart of the mountains with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The room was cozy, beautifully designed, and the fireplace added such a romantic, relaxing touch. Every detail—from the comfort of the bed to the quiet surroundings—made for a perfect getaway. We only stayed one night, but it left such an impression that we’re already planning to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and unforgettable mountain retreat.

Stayed here for 2 evenings. Loved the room, it was quiet and backed onto the forest. It was terrific to have a wood burning fireplace, particularly since it was fairly cold in the evening. Check-in was fast and easy, all staff were lovely. My only suggestion would be to replace the chunky metal room keys with cards, it's definitely more convenient to slip a key card into a wallet then to fumble around with a big metal key. Otherwise, everything was perfect and we'd definitely return.

First comment… Jonah, the barman in the main restaurant area, honestly superb. Great conversation, knew what drinks we would love, full of recommendations, friendly. We honestly looked forward to a few drinks at the bar after a full day! Bedrooms spacious, fire place, balcony, stunning place. If you want a lodge experience with luxury this is the place. Great AC unit in the room which we thought wouldn’t be enough but did a great job. Our room looked out onto the road and the noise didn’t effect us at all, can hardly hear anything, although no matter where you are you can hear the train horns! Which is great! Huge shared hot tub. we finished every night with a hot tub and walk back! 15/20 walk into town, or a bus stop right outside. We only stayed 4 days and were up at 5.30am and finishing at 10pm. Everything we needed and would highly recommend. We came last week of September, weather was 20c 2 days with sun and rain the other.

What a beautiful place this is. We did a roadtrip from Vancouver to Calgary and this was our favourite accommodation. We had the best meal of our trip in the restaurant and the views from our room were stunning!

Great stay! The staff was wonderful — we even got a free upgrade to a spacious suite with a kitchen. They kindly washed our dishes and tidied up after we rushed out early for a shuttle. Only small downside: the soundproofing isn’t perfect, but overall we were very satisfied.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here. It was great proximity to everything we were doing while in Banff. We had amazing drinks at the bar(great Bartenders) and even better breakfast. The only thing we wished we had done was get in the hot tub. Was too crowded when we tried to go.

The staff were friendly and responsive. The location is beautiful, the resort is clean and well looked after. The room was clean but absolutely not sound proof. We heard our neighbors well into the night. The do not disturb sign on our door was completely ignored twice in a 20 minute span one morning. For the money, I am not sure i would return.

We had delicious and ample dinner twice and breakfast all three days. The grounds were lovely with lots of pretty flowers. The view of the Rockies was grand. Lots of personal space and privacy. A very peaceful and beautiful place to stay after a day of rafting, hiking, horseback riding, and sightseeing. Thank you.

The outside view is stunning. The staff is friendly. I paid over $500/night for my family of 4. Inside of the room smell like wet moldy wood. It’s muggy in the room. There is only one fan in the room which can’t cover the whole space (no AR) The room is super small. The door for entering is cracked, as same as the window. The coffee tasted moldy, no real cream. The bedroom door was removed. one of the light switches were gone. Completely uninhabitable and I should’ve just rented an RV.
Zhen T — Google review
When you're only paying $100-$200/night you can overlook a few things, but at a whopping $500/night you expect excellent service, high standards, and the rooms to be well thought out. Neither of which are the case here. We booked over the phone, I specified it was for my birthday and was told "we'll do something special for you" for dinner, and took the early check in note. None of that happened. In fact there was no reservation made and we couldn't check in early as no one made any note. After some stress, I was told they were able to secure a table (this was hilarious because when we went for dinner there were plenty of empty tables the whole time we were there). The food is great actually, but the service is appalling. Took several minutes to get a high chair for my toddler, despite telling the front desk who will be joining. Waiter wasn't experienced or refined. No birthday cake/dessert (which is fine, but don't promise "something special" and not deliver). This last point is an example of what distinguishes the thoughtfulness and care taken at places with excellent service vs places with poor service. The views and terrace are beautiful. The room had no tv though, and when I complained about this I was told "it's listed online when you book", I said I booked over the phone and let them know I have kids - you'd think they'd mention it? The room also didn't have chairs or a table so there's nowhere to sit and eat. I would not come here again. If you're going to charge $500/night, people expect immaculate service, attention to details, and tvs in rooms at the minimum.
Manal G — Google review
Sorry but the room (cabin) we had was small, 1 room, no tv, with a mountain range view. Problems, 1 window facing away from any view, terrible bed & pillows, and at $429 +tax at 10 % off they want you to was the dishes too. Not recommended, travel 15 min to Hinton and stay at a standard hotel for half price. Just as good of a view.. And was not clean, need I say more. Plus rooms listed next day for 210-250. Still not worth it but wouldn't break the bank

We stayed for the Thanksgiving weekend and it was great! The food and service we received was amazing. The location’s view is great which I love the most is my coffee in the morning with the view but just a little bit of drive going to Jasper town. The advantage of that is you might be able to see the mountain goats along the road on your way to town. Great place get away!

I stayed in the mountain view cabin as a solo. An amazing room with a cozy balcony to enjoy some quiet time. The staff were amazing, helpful and it was great to have some local knowledge of the area. I was given a great hike suggestion. The two blokes at the check in desk (Operations and the FB Manager? I think?) were so helpful. The most friendliest people I have met on my trip. I never intended to eat the lodge every night, but I did. From the 6 weeks of travel I did, 2 of their meals were in my top 3 for the trip. The tasting Alberta 5 course meal I had on my last night was incredible, as was my friendly server. The restaurant views are amazing. It's a little far away from a lot of the main attractions but the scenery down the Yellowhead Highway makes it worth the trip. I will be back, perhaps for that winter holiday that you recommended!

DO not go here to eat. Appears as “higher scaled” restaurant but its not. Overpriced for mediocre food and terrible service. Location is great for views and pretty but the food and waitress was awful. We came to eat there as it was close to where we were staying, the minute we arrived, the waitress was very rude. Seemed offended I ordered a cappuccino and actually made a loud sigh. Did not give us proper service, actually seemed to avoid us as often as she could but we can overhear her complaining how busy it is to other guests when there is only like 5 people there and only 2 just ordered when the rest were done eating. She obviously acted differently with different people for some reason. On top of all of this, she goes into the kitchen and starts YELLING AND SWEARING at the chef. EVERYONE HEARD, it was uncomfortable and unacceptable. On top of this all, did not check if we were okay with the food. My food was FROZEN, i had literal ice in my food. It was definitely not FRESH. She continues to be rude. 1st time ever, I choose not to tip a service person. Dont be yelling and swearing at your coworkers. Thats what made that decision for us. Way better places with better services.

This is really far from a boutique hotel. The room was small and uncomfortable. There was no table or chairs to sit. We had called twice to confirm there was a microwave to heat food but when we arrived there was not one. We could not heat any food for ourselves and were forced to eat in their overpriced restaurant. The room was old and so stifling hot with no relief. We had the window open but the high trucks and all night traffic was not the quiet get away we planned. We paid close to $500.00 a night but we forfeited the second night and left the premises to return home.

Nestled in the mountains above Fernie, BC, Island Lake Lodge offers a serene retreat with 26 rustic rooms spread across four lodges. The accommodations provide a digital detox by omitting televisions and telephones, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. Outdoor lounge areas, terraces, hot tubs, and a day spa offer relaxation options after exploring the 7,000-acre property. Dining experiences range from mountain casual to gourmet.
Cannot speak for the quality of the rooms as I was but a lonesome wanderer on the Old Growth trail, but there are few joys in life quite like a cold beverage and the Island Lake Lodge provided just that. The area is beautiful and the Lodge is well-maintained. Full credit to the staff for welcoming a tired wandering hiker the same as the finest dressed there. The food, though I did not try any, was appealing and unique - I am sure fine gourmets would find something to their liking there. My one small thing on drinks is that I felt there was few options "on tap" but that really is such a small trivial thing in the context of being able to drink and wander around a slice of paradise. The entire resort is beautiful and a gem of the area.

Dear Margot and Island Lake Lodge staff, We honestly can’t thank you enough for everything you did to help make our wedding weekend so special. From the very beginning, Margot was a steady, helpful presence—always quick to answer our (many!) emails and questions with patience, clarity, and care. It meant the world to us to know we had someone we could trust and rely on throughout the planning process. Island Lake Lodge staff thought of the most special "little touches" that meant so much to us and our guests: -Our guests who brought their infant were provided with a bottle warmer and crib in their room. -My wife and I had a beautiful, engraved/framed photo with our wedding date and our initials when we entered the honeymoon suite, alongside some lovely chilled champagne! -Staff made us an Island Lake Lodge dog tag, engraved with our dog's name. And their welcome sign always shouts out the "Very Important Pets AKA the VIPs" - such a sweet touch! -The list goes on and on - these are just a few of the many beautiful, thoughtful touches. Margot was the perfect planner for us. Her attention to detail, calm energy, and experience made the entire weekend run so smoothly—and let us actually enjoy the moments without stress. We also want to give a huge thank you to the entire Island Lake Lodge team - chefs, bartenders, housekeeping staff, maintenance staff, shuttle drivers, and front of house staff. Every staff member we interacted with was professional, kind, and genuinely fun to be around. Without asking, they even read our minds and shared their mouth-watering salad dressing recipe to us and our guests! We loved spending time getting to know the staff just as much as we did interacting with our own guests. Our guests with allergies and dietary intolerances were blown away by the helpfulness of the staff to accommodate them. We cannot wait to come back to Island Lake Lodge in the future! We couldn’t have imagined a better crew to help us celebrate. With heartfelt gratitude, Mike and Heather

Island Lake Lodge is truly one of the most special places on earth. We had our wedding here and it was the best weekend of our lives. From the very beginning, working with Margot was amazing. She was quick to respond, so accommodating, and just such a wonderful person to work with. Having her by our side made the whole process feel easy and enjoyable. The staff as a whole is unbelievable. Every single person was so kind, attentive, and thoughtful. They made the weekend seamless so we could truly live in the moment. Our guests are still talking about how cared for they felt and how wonderful every staff member was. And the food… wow. It wasn’t just the reception dinner that blew people away, but every single meal all weekend. The arrival dinner, Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, and Sunday farewell brunch were all absolutely incredible. The food is truly fine dining with every dish plated beautifully and tasting even better than it looked. Our guests are still raving about it weeks later and many said it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. Dietary restrictions were handled with so much care and every dish was outstanding. The setting is unreal. The views are breathtaking, the lodge is beautiful, the rooms are cozy with super comfortable beds, and the little details (like the amazing soaps, saunas, and the way the staff remembered names) made it feel magical. The hikes right from the property are stunning (we especially loved the Goldilocks Loop and Mt. Baldy) and some of our guests even spotted bears on the drive in! On past visits we’ve also experienced the Tamarack Dining Room, the Bear Bistro, and the spa, and each one was just as incredible. The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere are consistently outstanding. Every time we’ve been here, we’ve left feeling cared for and reminded of how special this place is. We will never forget our time here. Between the food, the staff, the views, and the overall experience, Island Lake Lodge is beyond extraordinary and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We feel so grateful and cannot wait to come back for anniversaries :)

I grew up in Fernie and always dreamed of having my wedding at Island Lake Lodge. When the day finally came, it was beyond anything I could have imagined. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, tucked away in the mountains, and it gave us that “wow” moment I had always pictured. The food deserves a special mention — every single meal was incredible. From start to finish, everything was fresh, beautifully prepared, and so delicious. Our guests are still talking about how amazing it was! The staff were also out of this world. Everyone we met was so kind, professional, and incredibly attentive. They made us feel cared for and really went the extra mile to make the day special. I especially want to thank Margot, our wedding coordinator. She was truly the best — always calm, always prepared, and always had an answer for my (sometimes frantic!) bride questions. She totally understood what I wanted and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. Having our wedding at Island Lake Lodge was an absolute dream come true, and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for the perfect venue.
Alannah S — Google review
Island Lake Lodge is beautiful, but our experience with the wedding coordinator at a recent wedding was deeply disappointing. Her attitude was condescending and dismissive, and instead of feeling supported, we felt like a burden. For the price we paid, everyone expected a stress free weekend not ongoing issues. We are still upset about how our friends were treated, and it overshadowed what should have been an exciting, joyful experience for them. No couple should leave their wedding feeling this way.

If you’re planning a wedding there, don’t. They’ll cut off vendors on the day before, even if the vendors have paid for a room. Management is absolutely heartless.

Amazing stay at the lodge. So fun to stay right on the hill and be able to walk and ski everywhere. Room was perfect with full kitchen. Staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful

Great resort. Perfect location. Great staff. Wonderful view of the mountains, hot tubs. Room was very clean full kitchen, fireplace one bedroom beds and pillows very comfy. We did stay in June though and the A/C didn’t really work but it does cool down quite a bit at night. Only thing for us was no black out blinds. Great atmosphere very relaxing stay!! Would definitely stay again!

The perfect lodge for a group, and right at the base of the resort, and minutes to the cute little town that has great coffee, excellent food and restaurants. Yummy cheese/charcuterie shop on main street for unique snacking! Wonderful outdoor hot tub and pool also that we enjoyed. In winter an awesome ice bar.
Michelle W — Google review
We stayed in a one bedroom suite during our stay, and loved how spacious and cozy the room was. That said, the room/buildings are all very old and outdated. When we went to use the hot tub in the main Lizard Creek building, there was a sign that the jets weren't working. When we went to use the shower in our room for the first time, there was another little sign with instructions on how to get water to come out of the showerhead (very old, outdated model). Another little sign on the balcony door warning that the door may lock behind you after stepping outside. The signs everywhere are a bit tacky, and more of a bandaid fix. Considering the price of staying right on the resort, the value really isn't there. While the staff and service were all exceptional, it's not enough to entice us to stay on resort the next time we visit. With the amount of money they're bringing in, it's a shame they're not prioritizing room upgrades/maintenance. When you still have to lock your gear in a separate building and walk over to the hill, it's not exactly a "ski in/ski out" setup, so the convenience really isn't there to justify the price.

Booked directly on their website, paid more than what I could have paid on a third-party site, and was placed in a room overlooking the dining room. Very loud until almost 10 pm and the front desk evening employee was rude. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this is not the place to stay!

I had the pleasure of DJing at this beautiful venue. The space is incredible, the acoustics were excellent, and the staff went above and beyond — even helping me get my gear up to the chairlift for the ceremony! Friendly, professional team and a fantastic setting. 10/10 would recommend 🙌

We were not informed at the time of checking that the elevator was out of service and my partner had an injured knee and shoulder making it difficult to carry all of our stuff up 2 flights of stairs. The sheet was stained, kitchen towel ripped and one toilet was not properly fastened to the floor so it was usable and the 2nd toilet the seat was loose.

We are a newly engaged couple and decided to spend the last couple days of our summer vacation here. We were so impressed by the attention to detail even down to the details like phone chargers, french press coffee, air fryer etc. of course the views were incredible & the room was gorgeous! We stayed in the bird suite. This was an amazing way to end our vacation and we would love to come back. Thank you to our wonderful hosts who even gave us some aloe vera gel upon request after a bit of sunburn ☺️

Just spent a few nights here in the Eagle suite on my honeymoon and it was fabulous! Steph, Adrien and their family are absolutely wonderful, friendly and down to earth. The rooms were well equipped with anything we could possibly need and more. You can tell a lot of thought and care was put into curating the rooms and making sure local businesses are supported in all of the toiletries. Beds are incredibly comfortable and views form the balcony are stunning. We will be back again soon for a longer stay!

This place is well worth the drive to get to. Situated in the hills east of Kelowna, the views are amazing the forest magical and the room (studio in our case) was well appointed and comfortable. The hosts were helpful. We rented e-bikes to check out the Myra Canyon Trestles (tip: climb the road to the trestles parking lot then turn LEFT on the old rail grade. If you turn right it’s 7 km to only one trestle. Though possibly the grandest of the lot!?)

My partner and I spent two nights in the Eagle suite. Not only were the amenities wonderful and the view beautiful, but the owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. Definitely take the time to come out this way if you're looking to stay anywhere near Kelowna.

Absolutely unforgettable experience at Myra Canyon, Ranch and Lodge!! We pulled up to the lodge and were immediately greeted by 4 friendly goats. The kids were squealing with excitement and burst out of the car, eager to explore the farm. The kids spent hours acquainting themselves with the animals- petting them, brushing them, feeding them and asking a million questions. Fan favourites include Charlie the cat, Deli, Sassy and Cookie the horses, Betty the chicken, George the dog and “the boys” The location is stunning 😍 The views are breathtaking and there are endless outdoor activities close by. We loved sitting on the balcony in the mornings/evenings and unplugging while we overlooked the kettle valley. The lovely family that owns the ranch warmly welcomed us and went above and beyond to ensure we felt right at home. From conversing with the kids about the farm animals to offering helpful recommendations for entertainment, we left feeling very grateful and refreshed. We are already planning our next visit!

Myra Canyon Lodge is an absolute hidden gem just 25 minutes from downtown Kelowna, and I honestly can't believe it took me this long to check it out. The peace and quiet here is unreal — pure tranquility surrounded by nature. The new owners, Steph & Adrian, are true superhosts. Shortly after we arrived, we realized the entry bridge ramp wasn’t built for my heavy power wheelchair. So what did they do? They built a new ramp — on the spot! Thanks to the level entry, I had full access to the Bear Suite, including the wraparound deck and the wide open living room. The roll-in shower was an unexpected bonus. While the suite is labeled "accessible," here are a few things to note: - The bathrooms are on the smaller side - The beds are low to the ground - It looks like there’s enough clearance for a Hoyer lift Steph & Adrian went above and beyond, even offering to raise the bed and install a grab bar if needed. If you have specific accessibility needs, I highly recommend reaching out ahead of time — they’re incredibly helpful and open to making it work.

Myra Canyon Lodge is in a word... Wonderful! Hosts are attentive, informative and helpful. The rooms we stayed in were the Bird and the Eagles nest. Comfortable with amazing views of the property and of the city of Kelowna in the distance. Animals on the property include goats, chickens, horses, ducks and a family dog and theirs friends dog. We are animal lovers and this just added to the experience. We will be back

Incredible doesn't even describe it!!. From the food, the location to the overall ambiance, everything is perfection...and if it's not they'll go above and beyond to make it right. Like any all-inclusives if there's something you don't like they'll change it, they even made us a custom Pizza, and a "starbucks" caramel macchiato :) The trails surrounding the resort are so worth the exploration and the extra adventures like kayaking, wale watching, bike riding, fishing etc, are definitely recommened! Eagles, sea lions, seals and wales were all observed on this weekend away and we're counting down the days till we can visit again!!

We stayed for 7 days at the resort for a family vacation (8 people & 3 generations). Most people stay for 3-4 days, but we appreciated our extended stay as it allowed us the ability to do all the activities and have plenty of downtime to relax. Our scheduled activities included the blind channel tour, tide to table fishing adventure, helicopter tour to the glacier, and kayaking. All the tours were exceptional and made accommodations for our skill level and varied age groups. Our unscheduled activities included hiking (all the trails), spa (mineral pools and massage), gym, tennis and pickleball, movies & popcorn at the theater, watching wildlife in the bay, hot tubing, pool, video games, chatting etc… We stayed at the marine lodge which was a perfect size for our group. We loved how central the location of our accommodation. It allowed the 80 year olds in our group to be included and dining felt accessible. The food was absolutely exceptional - so fresh, so excellently executed, and so accommodating. The attentiveness of all the staff was pampering . I felt the staff were enjoying themselves as much as we were which adds another layer of wonder and enjoyment. We all enjoyed the snack shack especially the kids.

The most beautiful and unbelievable trip I have ever taken. Sonora is a bucket list destination, for sure!!! Its beauty is beyond expectation. Such a place of solitude. We spent in the resort 4 days. The location, activities, area of the resort are fantastic. 1.000.000$. you can see activity of ocean animals during tides so close as you can… 5min walk from the accommodations. You can walk in the forest or just relax sitting on the terace with a glass of wine. I want to give our respect to the local guide Nova, she is a big professional. We ordered 3 activities with her and all of them were unforgettable. Now about things that we didn’t like: 1. absolutely tasteless food. 2. very poor service in the restaurant. the first day we sat in the restaurant for 20 minutes and no one gave us even water 3. cleaning service consists from very young girls and they can not clean. every day they forgot rugs and other things in the room. it was unpleasant. In the corner of the our bed the floor wasn’t so clean and no one paid attention on it. All this specified points are not appropriate for a hotel of this level. 4. and we don’t recommend to order in the resort Bear watching tour. It’s very hard to find bears when you have for this only one hour.

That summer, right here, we spent an absolutely incredible month together! The coaches were not only super skilled but also downright adorable—they led our teen group deep into the breathtaking lakes and mountains, where so many 'firsts' in life happened. We faced tons of challenges, pushed through tough moments, but came out richer: with new knowledge, skills, buckets of joy, a sense of achievement, and even fresh discoveries about ourselves. A huge shoutout to **Strathcona Outdoor Center**—and to the amazing coaches and staff who made it all possible! 🏕️✨"

I booked a private multi-day hiking trip with the lodge. Hugh was highly knowledgeable about the park and gave awesome trail guidance, making sure I was comfortable at all times. I can highly recommend the guided hiking and would recommend to family and friends. However, I feel differently about the lodge itself. While the surroundings were nothing short of spectacular views, the room itself was clean but fairly simple and felt not up to the price tag. Some mold in the shower, water spraying everywhere from the tap. The food, being described as "Olympic athletes tell us we’re doing something right." and "locally sourced, organic where possible, and in-season ingredients. You can always be assured that your meal has been made with the environment and your well-being in mind" was highly overpriced and didn't live up to the description online. At a price tag of 40$, they served simple dishes such as spaghetti with meatballs or rice with tomato sauce. This would have been alright for a youth hostel, but not at this hefty price tag.
Ksvx K — Google review
I didn’t stay a night here, but camped down the road and came through a couple times while exploring the park. Also rented a boat for a day. The lodge itself is very nice and the staff are polite and kind. But if you’re looking for advice on where to hike or paddle you should talk with one of their more outdoors-knowledgeable staff, as this is not the front desk’s area of expertise. Similarly, if you require useful outdoor items such as sunscreen, bear spray, etc… Make sure you buy them in Campbell River or Gold River. The shop inside the lodge is small and mostly features branded water bottles, stickers, and local kombuchas. The boat rental was pricey, especially considering that if you have the boat out past 4:30, you can’t return it until the next day and will be charged for that day on top of your first. That being said, it’s a really nice area to paddle and we were well directed by the staff at the boat rental area. Overall the lodge contributed positively to our vacation, and if I were to stay in Strathcona with people who don’t like camping, I would likely stay here.

The philosophy of food on the website does not match the offerings. Sad. Exponentially overpriced. If you are considering a visit, stay in a cabin with cooking amenities. Bring your own food - cook your own meals. Over three days you'll have hundreds of dollars left in your pocket without feeling ripped off for bad meals. Truth! The response from the owner: the owner assumed the author of this post. How presumptuous. I don't have a dog. I was travelling with my wife. For readers reference, prices for eating at the Lodge: Breakfast is $25., Lunch $27., and dinner is $40.- $92./day each... to a captive audience. Nothing else for miles. Given the owner felt the need to reference lunch... what the website describes for lunch: Lunch $27 per person (children 6-13 half price, 5 and under free) Often ethnically inspired from Nourish Bowls to Burgers, salads, fruit bowl, coffee and teas. Sounds different than sausage and mash...You get the idea. DON'T rely on the food here.

Just got back from the most incredible stay at this little slice of paradise—an eco lodge run by an amazing couple who pour so much love and care into making their guests feel special. The food? Absolutely next level—fresh, delicious, thoughtful. The property is stunning—a total dream. Every corner of the accommodations is well thought out and cozy without sacrificing style or comfort. There’s a wood-fired sauna right on the beach (yes, please), kayaks and canoes to explore the lake, peaceful firepits, and hikes that’ll knock your socks off. Seriously, every trail felt like it came out of a movies And the hospitality? Bar none. Warm, down-to-earth, and genuine. You can really feel the care and pride that’s gone into their lodge. Thank you so much Tina and Jamie!

My fiancé and I stayed at the Strathcona Park Lodge for three nights, and we absolutely loved every second of our stay here. We opted for a private room in the lodge (74-Lakeview) with our own washroom and shared deck space overlooking the lake. The amenities here are incredible! We rented canoes and paddled Upper Campbell lake, stopping to explore an island before canoeing back. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, and the wood fired sauna is heavenly. We felt like we were at a summer camp for grownups and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was a memorable experience which will forever live on in our hearts. The only feedback we have would be that the dinner experience was a bit awkward with guests being treated differently than staff/other lodgers. We had to give our name for the reservation when we arrived, which is fair, but then table service (to bring over drinks) was offered at the same time as a self-serve buffet style dinner. We would much prefer to just pay one flat fee for dinner, serve ourselves, sit with others and make new friends, as opposed to what felt like what was trying to be a “traditional” restaurant experience. However, the servers and hosts were kind and thoughtful and gave great recommendations for where to adventure in the area! That being said, we’re sure there are many other guests that love dinner service the way it is! (The food itself was delicious btw!) Those are just our thoughts and personal experiences. Either way we will be singing the praises of the Strathcona Park Lodge forever!!

Whether you're a novice or a seasoned angler, you'll find excitement as you cast your line into the waters teeming with various species, including giant sturgeon.
Had the best ever fishing trip with the great folks at Great River Fishing Adventures. Caught some real giant fish, including a 10' er (9'6" to the V of the tail), and everyone caught an over 6' fish, which is crazy! We had a range from beginners to experienced fishers on board and everyone did great. We had Mitch guiding us, and Dean was never to far from us guiding in other boats making sure we were having a blast. Truly the best experience had by everyone, we're making this a yearly trip without question. Highly highly recommend the great folks at Great River Fishing Adventures

What an incredible day on the Fraser River with Dean! We first fished with him when our son was 11, and now at 24 he caught his dream sturgeon — a memory we’ll never forget. Dean isn’t just a guide, he’s a true steward of the river. His passion for conservation and education shines through in everything he does. He takes the time to explain the techniques, the habits of these amazing fish, and the importance of protecting them for future generations. The entire day was filled with laughter, excitement and memories. The Fraser Canyon is absolutely breathtaking, and Dean brings the history of the river to life while you’re out there, making the whole experience so much richer. We came for the fishing, but what we took away was so much more. Can’t wait to come back again!

Were do we begin! It has been Tom's dream to fish in the Fraser River and catch a monster sturgeon for many years. We first visited from the UK in 2024 when the lovely Michael took us out for a full day of fishing. We have just returned from a second visit and we got to the meet the main man Dean. His knowledge is second to none. He is the most friendly, charismatic, passionate, talented and funny guy we have met! The time and effort he puts in to ensure the longevity for the fishing of the Fraser River is very admirable. The day was unbelievable from start to finish, he shared his knowledge about the history around the Fraser Valley and details of everything he does for the community and for the fish of the river. To top it all off, Tom caught his ultimate dream fish, a 10 foot sturgeon! We really can not recommend enough and we will absolutely be returning in the future! Thank you so much Dean and your team.

What an incredible experience and adventure we had on the Fraser River. Thank you to our guide Mark for cheering us on as we hauled in some River Monsters. "Only 10 more feet!" I will hear that everytime I look at these pictures. From the time we booked to when we said our goodbye, we felt extremely taken care of. Our stay in the Domes (Glamping at its finest) was the absolute cherry on top. What a amazing location and set up. Go ahead, treat yourself to a trip of a lifetime.

5 Stars!! All day long. I had the most incredible experience with Great River Fishing Adventures! I caught my first giant sturgeon with my best friend by my side an unforgettable moment that I’ll never forget. Dean, our guide, was absolutely amazing. His expertise, passion, and knowledge of the river and the fish were truly unmatched. He made sure our day was filled with excitement, learning, and memories. I even got to learn about the fascinating history of the Fraser Canyon, which made the adventure even more special. The views throughout the day were simply magical, breathtaking, and surreal at every turn. Every expectation I had was completely surpassed!! On top of that, we stayed in the incredible riverside domes, and the experience was just perfect. The accommodations were beautiful, every detail and amenity thoughtfully taken care of. It was so tranquil, and waking up to the spectacular views of the river and nature around us was something else. Relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the mighty Fraser River was the perfect way to end and start the days. If you’re looking for the ultimate fishing adventure paired with a peaceful and luxurious stay, this is it. I can’t recommend Great River Fishing Adventures (and Dean!) enough!

Absolutely wonderful stuff happening on the waters here….and I had no idea! Was invited for a few days with some great pals to go on a fishing trip. As I had never caught a fish before, I was eagerly anticipating. Mind. Blown. Our guide Mitch took us around to all the great spots he knew where we would have the best chance at getting some bites. The goal was for each of the five of us to catch one each, and to be on the lookout for a massive sturgeon. We hit the Big Eddy, and within minutes Tom got a nice bite on the line. When this baby breached, we all lost it. This giant, prehistoric looking dinosaur launched itself into the air. Time slowed…. a majestic, awesome display of nature was unfolding right before our eyes, mere feet away. The likes of which I only ever expected to see inside National Geographic. “Holy cow, it’s absolutely massive boys!!” yelled Mitch. Tom fought this beast for 35-40 minutes while we hooted and hollered. The pics were just as astounding, with Mitch guiding us to have the perfect shot to last lifetimes. It was exhilarating. We all ended up catching a massive one each; 19 in total over the two days we went out with over 90 feet of fish total. Just insane. Can’t recommend this enough! If you are looking for extremely professional master guides to have a blast on the water, look no further. Those two days are burned into memory, and have plastered a smile on my face that won’t be leaving for quite a while…

This April marked my second trip to the Fraser Canyon with Master guide Dean Werk from Great River Fishing in British Columbia. Last summer, I was lucky to have brought my family to the canyon to fish for Sturgeon with Dean for the first time. I immediately fell in love with the Fraser River and the magnificence of the Fraser Canyon. Dean showed us three wonderful days of fishing with each day pointing out new and interesting history, talking points and places of interest along the river. The Sturgeon fishing was amazing! Dean‘s knowledge of where the fish are biting led us to all the best spots and Dean put monster fish on our lines each and every day. Dean‘s love for this fishery and the Fraser resources was immediately apparent. Dean loves to share his lifelong experiences of days spent on the water in search of the Great White Sturgeon. I would have to guess that no one alive has boated more Giant Sturgeon than Dean Werk! Dean takes great pride in his business and his office staff, the equipment and the experience that they provide is SECOND TO NONE in my opinion. His boats are spotless. The rods and reels were of very high-quality, super clean and very well maintained. Being a professional fishing guide and outfitter myself, I can truly appreciate the quality of the equipment that Dean provides his customers. Our most recent trip was just a couple weeks ago. Two of my younger fishing guides and myself headed to the Fraser to fish with Dean. It would be their first experience fishing on the Fraser and meeting my new friend Deano! Fishing was amazing and Dean spent so much extra time with my guys explaining why being a guide is special and why after 40 years of guiding Dean loves his job and considers himself lucky to be a pioneer of guiding on the Fraser River. I think everybody owes it to themselves to visit the Fraser Canyon sometime in your life. Dean and his team of amazing guides and office staff are the Apex of what a professional fishing guide business should look like. I would highly suggest booking your trip with Great River Fishing. Hi there, Just a line or two on your trip with great river fishing adventures. I have to say they are a really professional outfit with excellent boats tackle and gear. Mitch was our guide and we found him to be a really nice guy who dose his very best for you. We had about 12_14 sturgeon for our two day trip...but didn't get the monster we where looking for as fish where full of the many pinks and salmon in the river. I would definitely go again but maybe a little earlier in the year. Would highly recommend it to anyone for the fishing and the beautiful views along the river. Thanks mitch and Dean.. Best regards Mark and ehren sweeney.

Radius Retreat, located in the Columbia Valley, offers guests a sustainable and off-the-grid experience in yurt accommodations. The yurts are powered by solar energy, and their designs aim to immerse visitors in the surrounding wilderness near the Canadian Rockies. This retreat provides an opportunity to disconnect from the world while being within a convenient distance from Radium for dining options and enjoying the renowned hot springs. The property boasts stunning aesthetics, tranquility, privacy, and a deep connection with nature.
Upon arriving at Radius I was absolutely blown away at the size, quality & cleanliness of the yurt! Not only that, but there was immaculate landscaping that blended naturally into the surrounding wild forest, fresh running water, cell service and basic electricity! Not that I used it… all I wanted to do was keep exploring the beautiful surroundings. The trails were very well maintained and you could tell all the structures were of a very high quality build. My yurt was accessible by vehicle as I was looking for more of a “glamping” experience, but based off of how stunning it is I’ll be going back with my husband for a hike-in retreat to one of the other, more remote yurts for sure! Well done. If you want the most tranquil & stunning retreat for yourself or a group that is only minutes from civilization I suggest you stay at Radius. It’s a completely unique & luxurious outdoor experience. 12/10

This was my second time visiting radius retreat! I stayed at the Hill which had incredible views. Such a well kept, quiet, amazing getaway (even during a heat wave). The watering hole was great to cool off. I’d love to come back during the fall or winter season. Highly recommend!

We have been going every year. It's absolutely beautiful and quiet. We've created many family memories over the last few years going. My kids love going to the watering hole in a hot day. The fire pit with unlimited fire wood is amazing. Even the outhouse smells like cedar. Highly recommend.

Last weekend was our second time visiting the yurts. Both times we had a great time there with my husband and kids. We love the way the yurts are built near to the Nature far away from the city life. This time we found the watering hole and showers were completely ready to use. Two years ago, these were in process of being built. The watering hole is small but very beautiful to sit around. We stayed two night at the den , had our meals prepared and enjoyed our time together both outdoors and indoors. My husband and I really love being in the nature and spending quality time without having any technology around. I think it’s a nice getaway from the stressful life and enjoying peaceful surroundings. And it’s not that far from Alberta. We would love to come back again.

If you're looking for a great glamping, eco-reserve, get-away... this is it! It's the ultimate self-isolation during COVID times and they're OPEN! The yurts are well maintained and far enough from others that it is peacefully quiet. It is so warm with an indoor stove even in cold weather. The out-house uses wood chips for vermiculture composting. Fire-starter, stove, and mattresses are all provided, along with all the fire wood you could burn. Each yurt has a different hike up so some are great for kids and others are better for seasoned hikers as everything must be carried in/out (including your recycling and garbage). It's a 2 minute drive to Radium and a 15 minute drive to Invermere. Staff are very responsive to emails and ensure the stay is safe and comfortable. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. We had a blast... TWICE!
SchneL — Google review
Our yurt stay was nothing short of magical. Yes, the creature comforts were all there: a super cozy bed, wood-burning stove, clean and well-stocked composting toilet, immaculate firepit (with wood supplied!), hot showers, and pools at the Watering Hole to cool off on a hot day. But the true luxury? Private, uninterrupted solitude. The entire network of trails is beautifully maintained, with views that had us stopping in our tracks—sweeping meadows and the Purcell Mountains emitting an alpine glow at sunset, wildlife sightings along the way. The location couldn’t be more ideal, with the Columbia Wetlands and Kootenay National Park right at your doorstep. It’s clear that Loren, the host, holds a deep respect for this land and an intuitive understanding of what people crave in a getaway. I’ve often daydreamed of owning a piece of wilderness with simple cabins or yurts, and this is the closest I’ve come to living that vision—without the BC land price tag! Already counting the days until we return in winter for a cozy snow-draped escape and some cross-country skiing. Loren, thank you for the most incredible retreat!

Really nice location, we went for my bachelorette and had a great time. The entire facility is really well maintained. The trails are excellent. The watering hole feature is really cool, very relaxing. Yurt was great, we stayed in "The Den". Wood was all very dry, I'm not sure if a hatchet is on the packing list but definitely bring one because you'll need to make your own splits. Overall, really enjoyed our experience! My only wish was to have some info on the therapy hike, we did it, but I think there is supposed to be a story that goes along with it, without the story, it felt a bit creepy.

Wow, it was better than we had hoped it would be! Beautiful views, yurts are spacious and the beds are comfortable. We picked the Nest yurt and it was 200 meters of elevation gain over 2.2 km. Worth it to be at a high point for the views. Definitely recommend.

We booked here for our Canadian trip and it did not dissapoint. The horses and goats walk around the full campground and make a housely atmosphere. The staff was lovely and very helpfull. The lodges are spotless and cosy with a fireplace in and firepit outside. It's like an oasis of rest and you can take a motorboat or canoe over the lake which was a really nice and exciting touch! we will certainly come back

We just came back from Ten-ee-ah lodge and we loved it! Our cabin was super clean and very spacious for 4 adults and 2 kids. It’s right by a beautiful lake and we all had a great time fishing! Staff is super nice and welcoming and the food at the restaurant was great. We didnt experience the mosquitoes mentioned below but I guess it’s a bit of a lottery with the weather. It is on the expensive side of things but I think the value of what you get matches so no issues at all. Only thing I would point out is that some of the hikes listed were not well-maintained so we had to change course but still a lovely time there!

We had such a wonderful trip to Ten-ee-ah lodge this past week. The location is stunning, the cabins are very well maintained and have everything you need, and the hosts are so helpful and friendly. I would not change a single thing about this little slice of heaven. The Gold Rush Trails are super close and make for great days of checking out beautiful BC. This was our first time coming here and we already booked for next year!

Highly recommend this place if you want to comfortably get away from it all. The cabins are very comfortable, keeping cool in the heat and warm in the cold. It is a wilderness resort, so you must prepare to be amongst the wilderness, and you will be rewarded. The owners are so very friendly and supportive. Completely relaxing and isolated.

Received a recommendation from Tenzing Travel to include this place on our RV road trip through Canada. The place is VERY secluded. Expect a 45 minute (21 km) drive over a dirt road to get to this place. Not the most convenient with an RV but especially when it hasn't rained its doable. There are very few signs so just keep driving on the dirt road until you see the big brown Ten Ee Ah sign on your right hand side when coming from the South or left hand side when coming from the North. Beware that Google Maps incorrectly lists its location so don't rely on that. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's a location of true silence. The only sound you hear is either from birds or the electricity generator that supplies the whole place with electricity. It's located right on a beautiful lake. There are horses walking around freely. There's a little self made treehouse, a sandbox, soccer table and a trampoline for kids. RV places include 15 amp electricity but no water or sewer hookups. Also a table and fire pit can be found. Firewood is available for free. There's free WiFi at the restaurant between 10 am and 6 pm and between 8 pm and midnight. It goes via satellite though and is very slow and unreliable so even web browsing is pretty much impossible. Electricity gets shut down between midnight and 6 am. They offer package deals which include breakfast and dinner but we found them to be extremely expensive (190$ for 2 adults per day versus 40$ for just the RV site without electricity). Restrooms and showers are decent and clean. There are washing facilities for 8$ for the washer and 5$ for the dryer. 2 hours of horse riding costs 75$. There's a dump station with water fill on site. When we were there around end of May there was a bizarre plague of mosquitos. We and our kids got stung everywhere all the time. Even inside our RV with everything shut they managed to find ways inside. Horrific night and experience so we left first thing next morning again. Because I do see the beauty of such a remote place away from the rest of the world I still give it a 3 out of 5 rating, but knowing the long detour in our route we had to take to get there, the 45 minute dirt road you rather don't want to drive on with a rented RV, the mosquito plague and the high prices you pay for everything there, I would definitely not recommend it to others to add this to their itinerary unless you dedicate your vacation to just going to such a place and dont go in the May and June months as those have the mosquito plague.

Located in the serene Desolation Sound, Klahoose Wilderness Resort is a recently established luxurious eco-destination. What sets this resort apart from others is its unique indigenous cultural experience, offering guests the opportunity to engage in cultural programming guided by locals from the Klahoose Nation residing in Squirrel Cove. Situated at Crawley Point, this wild retreat invites adventure seekers and families alike to indulge in delectable cuisine and early morning yoga sessions under the warm sunshine.
I loved the quiet location of Klahoose Wilderness Resort and the attention to detail. Our flight was delayed but Leanne made sure there was a later boat shuttle so we could make it to the resort and the chef, Jen, had a fabulous meal waiting even though it was very late. The cultural teaching of our indigenous interpreters Ivan, Gerry and Heather were sincere, interesting and profoundly meaningful. I learned so much here and I would recommend a visit to anyone who loves nature and cultural experiences.

One of the best experiences of my life, I can't recommend this highly enough. In the space of 3 days, I stood 15 feet from a grizzly bear and was 10m from a family of humpbacks that surfaced after going under our boat. Add to that the most breathtaking scenery and the local culture of the First Nations, I would go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I spent five days there in June to celebrate our anniversary. 1) Setting and wildlife. The Klahoose Nation is stunning. We were exposed to a multitude of animals, including: orcas, porpoises, eagles, and even a grizzly. One guest counted 40 bird species! 2) Food: excellent! The chef crafted meals highlighting the local cuisine 3) Accommodations were comfortable. We were right on the water with ready access to kayaks and stand up paddle boards. My wife was in the water three times a day. 4) Cultural experience. This was a powerful and unique aspect to the trip. The three members of the cultural team (Ivan, Heather and Gerry) were warm and welcoming and shared their culture. We learned about traditional hat making with cedar bark, and drums. We also experienced the traditional ways of making salmon over the fire. There was also song and dance. 5) Staff were welcoming and bent over backwards to help. 6) Finally, the Canadian Geographic ambassadors really rounded out the experience. Overall, we cannot recommend this experience enough.

Saw killer whales while kayaking. Indigenous spiritual bathing was a life experience! Saw grizzly bears and 41 species of birds on boat trips and the hiking trails around the resort. Was able to swim directly off the dock (and then have a wood fired sauna) as the water there is the warmest north of San Diego.

Our four nights and day excursions at Klahoose Wilderness Resort were spectacular. From the lovely rooms overlooking the inlet, to the scrumptious meals, to the cultural enrichment activities, to the bear watching excursions, to the wood-burning sauna -- all of it was simply wonderful. All of the staff, including Jerry the boat navigator and bear guide, to Billy our bus driver at the bear observation area, to Coral our Cultural Enrichment leader, to Norman the stellar chef were simply delightful. I particularly want to commend Marie, who stepped up when the resort manager took ill on our first full day at the resort. Marie remained cheerful and unruffled as she not only continued to oversee housekeeping, but to see that our needs out of our rooms were met; she helped the chef (who happened to be new to the resort) prepare meals, which she then served to us; she attended to our wine and beer service; she participated in the cultural experiences; she loaded and unloaded the excursion boat; and she kept the wood-burning sauna going for us upon our return from day outings. Marie sang and smiled through it all.

What an unbelievable experience. The views, atmosphere is just simply amazing. Grizzlies, Orcas Humpbacks and seals! But what i really enjoyed was learning about Klahoose traditions, the staff and cultural interpreters were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and just made me feel so welcomed. Nuk Tessli Wilderness Experience is a haven for nature enthusiasts, nestled in the southern Chilcotin Mountains on the shores of Tyaughton Lake. The resort offers luxurious lodge and chalet accommodations with stunning views of mountain peaks and glacial lakes. In winter, visitors can enjoy heliskiing across vast terrain with abundant snowfall.
I had the blessing of visiting Nuk Tessli as part of a yoga and breathwork retreat where I was facilitating the yoga, and the experience truly exceeded my expectations. Sela and his family have created something really special here—it's peaceful, thoughtfully designed, and holds such a beautiful energy. From the cozy cabins to the nourishing food, everything felt so intentional and well cared for. The staff were kind, helpful, and so accommodating, and it was a gift to have access to kayaks and canoes right on site to paddle out onto the lake. The guided hikes and canoe excursions with Sela added so much depth to the experience! Even though I was there in a support role, I felt like I had space to slow down, reconnect with myself, and really soak in the beauty around me. I'm leaving feeling incredibly grateful to have spent time in such a special place. Thank you for creating this little slice of wilderness heaven!

Nuk Tessli is an unforgettably unique experience where you can live and play in a remote setting with very few people while enjoying the creature comforts of life. Sela and his hardworking, friendly crew have created an oasis in a stunningly beautiful part of our province. There are few places in the wilderness where you can have your own rustic, hand crafted accommodation, hike with no one on the trails, eat delicious, fresh, home cooked meals, swim and paddle in pristine lakes, and soak in a hot tub while gazing out over incredible vistas. The Wilderness Cabin was icing on the cake! After a moderate backpack through beautiful terrain you arrive at a cozy, well stocked cabin on a pristine sandy beach with stunning 360 views. The Wilderness Cabin is a chance to really unwind, be one with nature embrace solitude and disconnect from the world with the added benefit of feeling safe as there is wifi and you can stay connected to Nuk Tessli. Don’t think twice about this adventure, it is soul food, you won’t be disappointed.

Probably one of the best places we have ever been. You only get there by seaplane but you will be rewarded with stunning mountain view’s and a very special experience. Thanks to Sela the organization of our trip was just perfect. The trails were wonderful but sometimes demanding. When you come back after a day of hiking a hot tub is waiting and food we got was plenty and great. Only downside I can think of are the millions of mosquitoes who seemed to just wait for the few people who get there.

From the float plane flight in to the welcoming staff and volunteers, Nuk Tessli is an amazing experinece. Very comfortable accomodations with all the necessary comforts along with delicious fresh food. And as a bonus, a hot tub for a soak after a day of adventure. We found the hiking to be very interesting with unbelievable views and as challenging as you care to make it. The place is very organized making hiking, canoeing and anything else you might want very accessible. Sela and his crew do everything they can to make your stay the best possible experience. The Wilderness Hut is also amazing with great hikes, scenery and all the solitude you could want. All in it was an unforgettable experience and we would recommend it to anyone wanting a one of a kind outdoor adventure experience.

If wilderness is what you are looking for, you’ll find plenty of that and much more in this amazing wilderness lodge . Only accessible by float plain, you’ll be greeted by the friendly faces of the owners and hosts, Doron and Sela which wilderness runs in their blood. The welcoming atmosphere, the care and guidance through your stay and not to mention the phenomenal food the lodge is producing are making this experience to be one of the best you’ll have in your life. Thank you !

This place makes you feel like you become part of the local family (in a good way 😀). Sela, Doron and the rest of the team go out of the way to make you feel comfortable. The cabins are a bit rustic and you have to take care of the fire in the stove - but this is part of the charm of the place. The scenery is beautiful and hiking trails are well marked so all you have to do is hike…
Shykeh G — Google review
Our trip to Nuk Tessli (group of 12 women) was nothing short of incredible. The float plane ride into the area was excellent, the accommodations were perfect for our needs (composting toilet and shower at each cabin), the food was exceptional (I didn't expect that level of food at a remote location) and the hiking and paddling truly beautiful. There are hikes for all levels of hikers and various forms of paddling (canoes, kayaks and paddle boards). We stayed for 4 days doing moderate and hard hikes interspersed with paddling and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and are good at giving their guests the best experience. They have GPS devices that guests take with them on the day trips so safety is not at risk. While we didn't need a guide for our hiking and paddling, the option is there for those who want that. I highly recommend a trip to Nuk Tessli. The remote setting combined with great amenities make for a challenging but comfortable adventure, which is exactly what we were after. Thank you Nuk Tessli and the beautiful family that run it.

Great Bear Lodge is a remarkable floating eco-lodge located on the shores of Hardy Bay in the Great Bear Rainforest. It's renowned for its Grizzly Bear viewing program, attracting numerous adventurers and nature enthusiasts annually. The lodge offers eight rooms and has been featured in media such as National Geographic and BBC's Secrets of Living Planet. Visitors praise the lodge for its stunning location, excellent food, clean accommodations, and friendly staff.
A truly amazing wilderness experience. Hosts Marg and Tom have assembled a first rate team (Yann, Maeve, Kestrel, Josh and Ella) who are passionate about sharing their knowledge of bears and other wildlife as they expertly guide you on multiple viewings per day. The scenery is stunning, the remoteness exciting and the experience sublime. We especially liked the boat touring. And of course, the bears - what amazing animals they are. Very healthy food provided and the accommodation is excellent. Cannot recommend highly enough.

September 6, 2023. Age over 70! This trip was for four nights. I would highly recommend the Great Bear Lodge to anyone that is interested in viewing grizzly bears. The lodge is beautiful, the location is breathtaking, food was excellent, and the accommodations are very clean and comfortable. Everyone was very friendly, and they made sure we had everything we needed. The guides were very attentive, and knowledgeable. We saw about 12 female grizzly bears, and four "coys" cubs of the year. They were adorable. The flight in and out on the Grumann Goose Sea Plane was absolutely fun with great views of the valleys below. The pilots were very friendly, and the flights were smooth. I am so glad that I did this trip. No matter how old you are, I think you would enjoy this trip. Safe travels!

That's a life time experience for anybody! Very experienced guides, and hosts make your stay comfortable in the middle of wilderness. Still, can be extreme for some people. You should also carefully plan your trip time because bears watching is different each season. It makes sense to contact owners and ask all questions. They are _not_ 'trying to sell', they are honest in their 'bear forecasts' and all other things.

WestCoast Wild Floatplane Tours offers a unique and exclusive experience, taking visitors through the ancient rainforest of Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation traditional territory. The tour provides breathtaking views of enormous cedar trees, gushing waterfalls, and wildlife such as grey whales, bears, and sea lions. Guests can enjoy a personalized flight with knowledgeable pilots like Jenia, who provide entertaining and professional service.
Jenia the pilot took us on a fabulous 45 minute seaplane air tour of the west coast from Ucluelet to Tofino and back. He shared his ample knowledge of the area, a little history, and showed us sealions sunning themselves on rocks and bears by the river. I appreciated that he would alert us when we might experience some bumps. Jenia is cheerful, engaged, a superb pilot, and fun tour guide. If you want to take in the full expanse of beauty along this section of coast, then this tour is for you!

Highly recommend!! 10/10 experience! If you’re on the fence, just go for it- you won’t regret it. This was an unforgettable adventure and one we’ll treasure forever. Our pilot, Josh, was incredible. My daughter was feeling a bit nervous, but his calm presence, kindness, and patience instantly put her at ease. He was so friendly and made the entire experience both fun and exciting for us circling the sea lions and whales so we could get a good look! . We felt completely safe and well taken care of the whole time. Visiting the hot springs was the perfect cherry on top! They are beautiful and definitely an experience!

We did a 1 hour floatplane tour with 4 persons (beginning of august 2025). Josh did a great job. He listened to what we would like the most, and based on that he advised us to start a little later than we had planned, because of the clouds and the possibility of having a beautiful sunset. We saw two gray whales, the beautiful coastline and a terrific sunset! Highly advised!
Bram V — Google review
The most amazing experience ever! Jenia ( our pilote ) is the best! He’s nice, entertaining and professional! The views are incredible! As is the wildlife, we saw grey whales, bears and sea lions! Truly amazing! Also for younger kids ( we have 2, 5 and 7 years old )

Great trip. We did a 30 min scenic flight. The four of us really enjoyed the trip. Josh did a superb job and even made an extra effort. I would for sure go again and see more from the air.

If you are looking for a plane trip, this is really the best thing to choose. We saw 3 bears, 2 whales, more than a hundred sea lions and beautiful bays. Fabulous guide. Truly the best flight ever.
Simon C — Google review
Absolutely awesome time with Jenia the pilot. The whole experience was above expectations. From the time we spoke and booked with Louis to when we met Jenia at the dock. Where should we go, you’re the local, what’s special to see atm. We had an hour flight heading up the coast to Tofino. Aside from seeing Seals sunbaking, sea kayaks and 2 awesome Grey Whales so close to the shore. Next was inland over a few while cap mountains past Della Falls. At this time of the year with the ice melt it was spectacular. Although just a 1 hour flight in a Float Plane, this is a must do. 🇦🇺🇨🇦 🇺🇦❤️

We, a group of 4, did a sunset flight and it was so nice! We enjoyed every minute of the 1 hour flight and our pilot Josh really made it a great experience! Can definetly recommend!

Whitecap Alpine is a remote retreat located north of Whistler, offering exceptional skiing and a great snowpack. The lodge provides comfortable accommodations in the main lodge and private cabins with hot showers, ensuring privacy for guests. Visitors can enjoy backcountry skiing and wildlife spotting in the area. The staff are highly praised for their helpfulness, knowledge, and down-to-earth nature. Guests appreciate the delicious and creative food prepared by talented chefs at the lodge.
An amazing place. Stefan and Connor (camp managers) take care of all the details. Gourmet food prepared by amazing cooks, stellar ski guides (Christine and Chelsea this year) find the good snow and keep you safe. Cozy lodge and the sauna is a treat. Comfortable beds. The real deal.

We just had a wonderful summer trip to Whitecap! Hiking was great (and varied). The food (chef Rosie) was amazing! The guides (Mel and Irie) and staff (Mackie) were wonderful and inviting. The helicopter ride was scary but so much fun. The highlight was hiking to an alpine lake (where they have built a sauna) and going for a swim.
Melanie R — Google review
Wow, we had an AMAZING time with Whitecap. My brother and I just got back from a summer trip, and it was an extremely unique, comfortable, and fun experience. The hiking was incredible, the guides (Leah and Hayden) were extremely knowledgable, helpful, and skilled. The lodge itself is super cozy. The sleeping areas are super comfortable. The food was incredible, thanks to the talented chef Amy. If you're on the fence about going on a trip with Whitecap, don't be! I am so glad I did. Oh, and the cherry on the cake - the lakeside sauna. What a unique experience! Thanks so much!

One of the most beautiful getaways in BC. The lodge is tucked away in a stunning valley just north of Pemberton. We spent a few days here exploring the mountains and relaxing in their private sauna. The Sauna was a major highlight and I would go back for that aspect alone. The food was amazing, and the cozy cabin atmosphere was perfect. I'll definitely be returning!
Emmett S — Google review
One of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. The simple, rustic charm of the yurts and homey-ness of the main cabin make for a real camping experience, while guided tours from knowledgable staff helped us to learn about the surrounding vegetation and wildlife. I especially loved the alpine lake sauna, which was just a short hike from the base camp. You’ll wish you could stay secluded in the mountains forever.

Such a nice place to be and stay, everything is perfect from the lodge to the mountains down to the staff. The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, yet down to earth and fun to be around. Our guides Natalie and Mel were fun to spend the day with and made sure we were happy and safe the whole time. Rosie our chef was just amazing and so creative, the food alone was all worth it, we were so well fed. Our lodge-keeper Marty was also great around the lodge, helping us with anything we needed. You’ll get to know everyone and by the end of week be sad you’re leaving!

Nestled just outside the park, Assiniboine Lodge is a historic gem dating back to 1928. It offers rustic private cabins and lodge rooms for up to 30 guests, providing guided ski touring and hiking excursions. Accessible by a 28km hike or helicopter ride, it's a top choice for adventurous travelers seeking an off-the-grid experience in British Columbia. The lodge boasts spectacular hospitality, delicious meals including afternoon tea, and stunning natural surroundings with lakes and mountains.
Wow, just wow. My wife and I have hiked the area and back country camped and thought it would be fun to fly in with my Mom for her birthday. The views from the helicopter are insane looking at Wonder Lake, we stayed in the Magog cabin with a beautiful view off the front deck. Food and service was top notch and the guided hikes were really good with multiple guides and options.

Two stars for the amazing scenery But the customer service was disappointing to say the least. We booked two nights in the Naiset Huts (300$), flew gear in and out (310$), bought six fire logs (42$), drinks and souvenirs (100$+) but still got told we weren’t guests and treated as such. We got to the lodge after hiking 27km in the rain and thunderstorm, soaked to the bone and pretty miserable. While they were really nice to offer us a warm tea, they told us to drink it outside in the cold wet rain because we weren’t lodge guests. We then picked up the gear we flew in, and Claude told us our packaging was a big zero and that we were amateurs. I did switch my food from my cooler to a reusable bag after reading on their website that rigid container would not be accepted. He mentionned a wine box was the best but it doesnt say so anywhere on the website so how are we supposed to know? We then asked for the weather forecast for the next day (which we checked before leaving but knowing how fast it changes in the Mountains we figured we’d doubled Check to plan our hiking accordingly) and he basically responded in a very sarcastic way that it would be a beautiful A1 day. Clearly the question annoyed him. My boyfriend wanted a beer after a miserable hiking day and the request was refused because they didn’t accept cards at that time, but then proceeded to accept my card to pay for the flown in gear and the fire logs? We then got Walked to our cabin by a switzerland guy, we very nicely asked again if he had any information on the next day forecast and the answer we got was « dont be a pain in my ass » … All in all a very beautiful area but i would recommend camping because spending so much money in a business who will treat you like dog shit will feel disheartening. They were absolutely nice to their lodge guests but not to us. At the end of the day we are still injecting money in the business and deserve to be treated accordingly. Plus, the reason Why we booked a hut is because the lodge was full. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for 15+ years and i treat all of the guest equally, regardless of how much they pay or how long they stay. Everybody showing up deserve to get a positive experience despite their budgets or time limitations. Just food for thoughts.

We camped three nights from Aug 24 to 27 with great weather. This park was one of the best glacier parks I have been to. Remember! remember! to bring cash, the afternoon tea is the best time of the day. The beer or wine was even cheaper then the bar.

We didn't stay at the lodge but had a great experience with how helpful and friendly the staff is. We stayed in the campground and got a tone of snow we weren't expecting. Claude kindly added in an extra helicopter flight to safely get us home the next day. The lodge also has a tea time from 4-5 that the campers can come enjoy in the dining room, it was such a nice treat to warm up by the fire! We purchased some delicious cake, tea and beer!

What an amazing experience! The views and hikes in the area are incredible. The gourmet food served at the lodge was off the charts! Everyone that works there are unbelievably nice and professional! I highly recommend a get away here!

Ridiculous, trying to book with their policy of the more you stay the better your chances of getting a booking. Considering this is all crown land it's disappointing that my father-in-law who helped build one of the original cabins has been unable to get a booking even when we explained the situation (and initiated the booking process on the first day for the following summer).

We camped at Lake Magog Site closer to the base of Mt Assinaboine but we cheated a flew some gear out to the Lodge and hiked the 32km down from Sunshine Village in one day. They were friendly at handling our items at the lodge. We stopped in for afternoon tea after hiking the Nub. It was our shelter for the only 10mins of rain we had on our entire trip. Beautiful place!

To ensure complete disconnection from the outside world, there are no televisions, radios, or news media available on-site.
Wonderful way to reset my lifestyle and reconnect with balance. Went with my wife and also helped reconnect with each other, while balancing with daily gorgeous mountain hikes, gourmet chief cuisine, yoga, strength training, and informative lectures to expand our understanding in many dimensions of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self.

What a wonderful, transformative trip! I spent a week in British Columbia earlier this summer as a way to reset and form some new habits in my life. Everyone there was lovely, the location was perfect, the hikes were amazing, and the food was incredible. I returned home more relaxed than I've felt in recent history. Thank you to everyone who made the week so memorable.
Lani L — Google review
I came to Mountain Trek with a friend for one week as part of a getaway. What I did not really understand was how much I would be getting out of it and how I would be literally stretched beyond limits I typically would push myself. Several things resonated with me but there are 2 that stand out the most: over 25 years, the leaders and ownership of Mountain Trek have constantly strived to improve their program so that their guests can enjoy the best Health Span possible; I had a deep sense that all the staff I encountered during the week truly cared about your health AND about you. I have never been to a place that used the first names of all 15 participants within hours of arrival! This points to the superb vision and leadership that Mountain Trek leaders, Kirk and Katya must model by example. Kudos to them! Kirk and Katya are both excellent speakers giving all the informative seminars that fully embody the program I experienced during the week. The culinary staff led by Chef Tiffany, all my guides (Mathi, Lana, Sarah, Kristi, Candi) headed up by Kris and Jen the nutritionist were all fabulous, very approachable and of high caliber in their roles. Being a science guy, I also appreciate that the Mountain Trek program has continued to change overtime based on current scientific literature on health in the areas of nutrition, movement, detox, sleep, and taking care of one’s whole self, not just physically but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I won’t go into the activity and food details (all high caliber) because many of the past reviews detail those quite accurately. I will say that it is probably not wise to use Mountain Trek as your first foray into health and wellness as the program is intensive … it should not be thought of as an entry level exercise class because you won’t likely enjoy it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was pushed and challenged in mind and body , in a humanly caring way for one week. There are so many things I have taken away from this and will slowly put them into practice because one week at Mountain Trek is like drinking from a fire hydrant! Do not come to this program if you are looking for a vacation because that’s not what this program is meant to be. Come to Mountain Trek if you are looking for solid foundational truths to start or continue to live the best and healthiest life for the length of time that you have … Health Span!

Exactly what I needed to re-boot my focus on health and wellbeing. Expert staff provided encouragement and motivation. Clean eating, delicious meals. Phenomenal setting in the Kootenays and hikes adapted to pace in small groups. Well worth it!
Kathryn G — Google review
If you are looking for a fantastic and unfussy way to reset your health, Mountain Trek is the perfect place to do it. The staff is outstanding and knowledgeable about a variety of health topics, the hikes are wonderful and geared towards all levels and speed, the food was delicious. I wasn't hungry at all in spite of being on a calorie restricted diet. I've done several other upscale spas like Miraval and Canyon Ranch, and I would not return to any of them. I will return to Mountain Trek. Its unpretentious approach to moving you towards better health was exactly what I needed.

Ewa K — Google review
If you are looking for a rest this is it! I am so grateful to each person on the Mountain Trek team for this amazing week. The program's tagline is a health reset retreat program and that is definitely what you get! I honestly would not have known that the diet is intentionally calorically restrictive unless they told us. Each meal is so graciously prepared with the freshest ingredients and the richest flavours. It was the first time a program showed me that it worked by being exposed to it and feeling energized and not at all hungry all week long. The days start with a gentle yoga practice which helps your body feel ready for the day. From there you are off to breakfast and a daily overview. The lectures in the morning or afternoon were so informative, and made even better by both Kirk and Katy's engaging presentation skills. The hikes were beautiful, and breaking up the group helps ensure that there is a pace for everyone. Forest bathing mid week was a lovely treat, as was a short shopping excursion at Crawford Bay. The evenings were a delicious treat between restorative yoga, sound bathing and massages you were so relaxed and ready for a good night sleep. The only drawbacks I would mention is that the spa is co-ed, so if for modesty or other reason you are uncomfortable of sharing the space in that way you will not get to experience those amenities. Also the bedroom doors only lock from the inside, and the house itself only gets locked at night. I had no issues with theft or anything of that sort, it was just an adjustment and something I was not necessarily expecting. The last note I would mention is that even though the menu is alcohol free, alcohol does form part of some of the sauces. As such if that is a restriction you have made sure you clearly let the team know about that. Overall I would highly recommend the program. Each staff member is so kind and helpful and you will leave refreshed and equipped with great health habits that will carry you well beyond your stay.

Absolutely incredible! Stunning views, warm hospitality, great food, comfortable accommodation. Super fun listening (and even singing along!) to some acoustic guitar tunes around the campfire. Amazing kayaking. Spotted whales, sea lions, black bears, golden eagles…completely unbelievable location for spotting great wildlife. Loved soaking in the hot tub while looking out over the ocean at the end of the day. We were a bit nervous as we’d heard great things about the Lodge but also heard that there were new owners…everything about our experience indicates that it’s the same great place our friends came to know and love, with new energy. We will be back!

The Broken Islands Lodge (Sechart Lodge) was the perfect location to rent kayaks for our 6 night kayak/camp in the Broken Group Islands. Although we didn't stay at the lodge, now that I know what it looks like and what to expect I will definitely come back with my kids! The staff were very helpful and had everything ready to go when we arrived. I was glad to meet Shannon and her kids, very nice down to earth people! I wish them all the best with their lodge. I would have given them a 5 star rating except the kayaks are on the older side, which is totally understandable due to covid etc. and we were very glad to find rentals in the first place as many companies no longer have rentals. Oh yes, it was a blessing to have a hot shower for $1 when we returned the kayaks! after visiting the lodge and meeting Shannon (didn't meet Bill) and her kids I will definitely come back to stay with my kids.
Michael Z — Google review
Strategically located for access to the Broken Islands group.Great starting point for a kayak tour. They use the same floating pier for both incoming and outgoing kayaks which makes for a really awkward time at rush hour between ferry arrival and its return. Each and every staff member was friendly and helpful EXCEPT for the supervisor on the pier who was quite rude and almost managed to ruin the whole experience. I can't imagine why he works in this industry with such an attitude. The Lady Rose Marine Services ferry from/to Port Alberni runs an unreliable timetable. They made us miss our BC ferry connection although we had ample slack in the travel plans.

We did not stay here but rented kayaks from the lodge. It is a perfect way to start into the Broken Group Islands. The ferry will take you straight from Port Alberni to the lodge and you can have a nice look of the nature on the way. Guys are very friendly and the material is in good shape.

Visitors have praised the facilities, allergy-conscious meals, impactful yoga sessions, and overall serene ambiance.
Anuttara Ashram is an extraordinary place that has truly transformed my life. From the moment I arrived, I felt a deep sense of peace and serenity, surrounded by the nurturing wilderness of the ashram's location. The teachings here have opened my heart and connected me to the essence of life, allowing me to experience a deeper sense of love and understanding. What sets Anuttara Ashram apart is the genuine care and compassion of the teachers, who embody the principles they teach and move from the heart in all that they do. They have created a community that is truly supportive, kind, and accepting, and it's a joy to be part of it. Every time I stay at the ashram, I leave feeling renewed and refreshed, like I'm floating on air. The deep quietude and healing energy of this place are truly remarkable, and I'm grateful beyond words for the experience. If you're looking for a transformative, life-changing experience, I can't recommend Anuttara Ashram enough. It's one of the greatest blessings in my life, and I'm sure it will be for you too.

Anuttara is a truly special place! The ashram is indescribably beautiful, offering a chance to slow down and experience a different pace of life. I stayed for a week retreat and spent a fair bit of time reading, relaxing and exploring the property. I'll always remember my solo mountain gazing hikes. The yoga they practice is simple and gentle, and is a style I am still exploring years later. This place is really really worth a visit.

But we were over the moon happy with the facilities, the delicious meals (which were made catering to my allergies), the fabulous yoga (some of the most moving I’ve ever done) and the over all amazing vibe of the place. We would highly recommend Anuttara for anyone who is looking to escape the crazy life of the city, unwind and tap into their spiritual side. We left with full hearts, full bellies and lots of new friends! We will be back for sure! (Also the ashram cat and dog were an absolute joy to be around!)

Dear you, who was fortunate to find this Ashram in the wide space of the world wide net. This could be the start of a (your) transformative journey towards a benevolent life lived in peace (with yourself and the world)... At least, visiting the Ashram was opening my eyes to see the world in all its beauty and find my way with the suffering inherent in it. Their teacher training goes far beyond learning some Yoga poses and Sanskrit words. Then Yoga is a way of life and they live it!! Authentically and wholeheartedly. I am always astonished by their dedication to their practice and to their commitment to make it accessible for everyone... Grateful that I followed the call to this stunning, serene and wild place with its generous and loving people, I can`t help but recommend getting in touch with them wherever you are on your journey!

I recently just graduated from Anuttara Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training Program and am blown away by how much we learned in a short amount of time. From the moment I arrived at the Ashram, I felt welcomed and like family. The community atmosphere really makes you feel at home. The training went beyond any expectations that I had, it was so much more than just teacher training - we learned so much about ourselves in the process too. There is so much more to practicing yoga then what just happens on the mat and at Anuttara, they really helped us to understand that concept. The only downfall during the course was that we experienced a drought, so water was a little scarce for showering, etc. But the ashram handled really well and brought in water so we could continue with showers, etc. It also helped us to realize how important it is to be mindful of consumption. I recommend this training for everybody - even if you have no desire to teach, you can learn so much more than you thought you can. And also for anyone just wanted to get away from the city and to reconnect with nature - this is the place!

The Anuttara Ashram is the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Being surrounded by a landscape one only sees in nature documentaries there is no other way than feeling reconnected to nature. It's the perfect place to have a break from the rush and stress you build up while living a hectic urban life and concentrate on spiritual practices. Staying in beautiful little cabins, fresh water from the creek, making your own fire, just coming back and living a more basic but a much more pure and grounded life with a wonderful and really international and open-minded community. I spent 6 weeks at the Ashram and underwent a great journey during my stay. I had the most wonderful experiences I've ever had with myself and with the community and I found a new home. There are no words to describe how grateful I am that Thomas and Aarti offer a place like this and share all the practices and that I had the opportunity to spent some time with this pure, energetic, healing and more than loving community. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone, there is so much to learn and to experience. And I am already looking forward to come back. Lots of love, Anna-Lena

Thank you Anuttara for creating Yoga Rising! I have been flirting with taking yoga teacher training for a few years but wasn't quite sure I wanted to teach and all I had ever experienced was yoga classes in studio. I had no idea there was so much more to yoga as a lifestyle/philosophy which is something you don't usually get exposed to in studio classes. I am so glad Anuttara included a good helping of this in the course! One of the things that attracted me to Anuttara is your commitment to your students finding their own way/style of yoga and I loved the freedom to explore that being woven into the fabric of the course. It was great to experience many different types of mediation, yoga, dance and other practices (Shin Rin Yoku) to help me discover the beginning of MY way. I was worried doing the course online would feel distant and disconnected but I found all the teachers so genuine in your videos that I almost feel like I have friends I have never met in the flesh. Since I was doing the course after the initial launch I could not attend any live Q & A sessions that happened previously but was able to schedule a live zoom call with one of the teachers to discuss my questions and this feature was especially valuable.Overall I would highly recommend Yoga Rising as a starting point to see if you want to teach and/or just to deepen/broaden your practice of yoga. It means so much to connect with sangha in this genuine and heartfelt way. Please keep doing what you do Anuttara!

This place is truly sent from the divine. The humans who call this place home are all so genuine, so real and so safe. I have visited multiple times and find myself always feeling the desire to return. The lineage is true and genuine. The freedom to be exactly who you are is strong. You are welcomed as a friend and you are given a space in which to grow and deepen your practice. The energy is lighthearted and fun, the food is made entirely of love and hard work, the rooms filled with smiles and humour, but also with respectful silence and grace. This is a place of true healing.

Sweet little island with cabins lining the Georgia straight side and gorgeous beaches on the trincomali side! Lots of families with kids running around the logging roads and trails!

An excellent ski destination, open glades near the lake and a good choice of open alpine terrain above in varying steepnesses. Skinnable to the top.

Trail is flagged up until base of Mt Price. Then the scree-like, sandy gravel begins. Some patches of snow left but can be avoided and spikes not needed. ~31km and ~1,600m gain in the end with tour of the top.

Embarking on a journey to Sugarloaf Mountain is an adventure that promises breathtaking views and a touch of challenge. As you make your way up the rocky steps, don’t let the modest entrance fool you; this hike rewards with stunning panoramas of Departure Bay and Nanaimo. The trail may not be marked, but it’s well-trodden, guiding you through scenic landscapes where you'll encounter charming huts and playful marmots along the way.
It took us 7 hours to climb all the three peaks and came back to our vehicle. Only saw in total 5 people on the same trail on that hiking day.

The crux of this hike for me was the 28km RT FSR filled with cross ditches. Definitely pushed my stock rav4's upper limit. TH showcased various trucks and 4runners. Trail is not marked but is very well trodden. Harassed by noseeum all day long but glad they don't bite. Final scramble looks daunting but is easy to scramble if you have scrambling experience. The ups and downs along the ridge really get you though. Saw 2 huts and 4 marmots today!

Lodge
The Mallard Mountain Lodge, operated by the Canadian Adventure Company, is renowned for its seclusion and isolation amidst the vast Canadian Rockies. As one of the most exclusive retreats in the region, it can accommodate a mere seven guests at a time and remains accessible solely through helicopter transportation. Situated in an area locally referred to as the Punch Bowl due to a historical gathering atop Athabasca Pass, this lodge offers unparalleled privacy and remoteness.
This is a wonderful mountain lodge nestled in the midst of some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the world. The hosts, Derek and Paul, will take great care of you. . Backcountry skiing during the winter, hiking during the summer, followed by great food and new friends. What more could you ask for? I would be happy to return summer or winter.

Fantastic remote lodge with great food, guides and owners that have thought of all the creature comforts eg. hot shower, heated outhouse bunk curtains and reading lights. Did I mention dry powder and great terrain? Highly recommend this lodge!!
