Shady Shack is a charming and laid-back cafe that offers a variety of inventive vegetarian dishes and delectable sweet treats in a rustic-chic setting. The menu features an extensive selection of healthy smoothies, all-day breakfast options, burgers, wraps, and nasi goreng. Notably, the Shady Lasagna is a must-try with its flavorful combination of grilled eggplants, zucchini, and spinach.
I had lunch at The Shady Shack in Canggu, Bali, a beautiful vegetarian café and bar, and it was a fantastic experience. The Breakfast Burger was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, paired with a delicious homemade tomato sauce. The Jamu Jamu was honestly the best I had in Bali — perfectly balanced with a mild, pleasant taste and none of the usual bitterness. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was incredibly cozy, surrounded by lush greenery. I especially loved the relaxed couch seating, which made the whole vibe feel peaceful and chill. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a vegan-friendly restaurant in Canggu or just a relaxing spot for healthy, plant-based food in Bali.

Shady Shack quickly became one of our favorite spots in Canggu. The setting feels calm and leafy, with a relaxed energy that makes it easy to linger over breakfast or a late lunch. It is the kind of place where the music sits in the background, the staff greet you with a smile, and you never feel rushed. The menu leans fresh and vibrant, and everything we tried tasted clean and satisfying without feeling plain. Service was friendly and efficient, and the portions were generous enough to share. The smoothie bowls were excellent. Creamy bases with bright fruit, crunchy toppings, and a good balance of sweetness made them feel both indulgent and light. We also really enjoyed the Mediterranean platter, which was full of color and texture. The grilled vegetables were charred just right, the dips were smooth and well seasoned, and the bread was warm and soft, perfect for scooping. It is the sort of plate that works for a light meal or for sharing while you sit and chat. Prices felt fair for the quality and the atmosphere, and everything arrived fresh. Overall, this is an easy five stars from us. Shady Shack delivers on what people come to Canggu for, a beautiful space, healthy food that still feels special, and a pace that lets you relax. We would happily return for more bowls, another round of that Mediterranean platter, and a slow afternoon in the shade.
Kyla S — Google review
We discovered this lovely vegan restaurant tucked away on a quieter street in Canggu, and it instantly became one of our favorites. The location is perfect – peaceful, beautifully maintained, and such a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal away from the busy main roads. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, and everything was spotlessly clean, which made the whole experience even better. We ordered the jackfruit burrito, sweet potato wedges, and a fresh salad – all of it was absolutely delicious and prepared with great quality. The prices are on the higher side, but totally justified by the taste, freshness, and atmosphere. For anyone vegan (or simply looking for amazing plant-based food), this spot is definitely a must-do in Canggu. We can truly recommend it from the heart! 💚🌱
Ganzschoentutka — Google review
Absolutely loved this spot! 🌿 The tropical vibes are unreal—lush leafy seating, relaxed atmosphere, just so inviting. The food is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds: vibrant, colorful, and incredibly fresh. Even as a non-vegan, every dish was packed with flavor and totally satisfying. Generous portions, happy tummies, and a seriously chilled, fun night out. Highly recommend! 🌺✨
Rosie B — Google review
It’s one of those places that has consistent quality and never disappoints. I have over 100 food photos from here (starting from 2022), and I can assure you — today everything was basically the same as three years ago. That’s a huge achievement if you think about it, especially compared to similar places around Bali. It’s the spot with the best healthy breakfasts I’ve found — and I’ve been to quite a lot of them. I know pretty much the whole menu by now, and the smoothies are especially good. My favorites are Island Life, Choc Tops, and Startup — I just can’t decide which one to get each time I’m here. There’s also this really nice outdoor area that somehow calms you down — you just want to stay there and keep coming back. Whenever I’m staying in this area, I go to Shady Shack for breakfast about 90% of the time. The staff is almost the same as it was three years ago, which is another incredible achievement. I just hope this place keeps going and lives forever — because it’s already something truly special.

Our favorite place to eat !! We live here and can’t get enough of it! The wraps are all ver good! The portions are great and everything is fresh! You can request to have them cook in coconut oil ! Special thanks to Lia always remembered our order! Everyone here is super sweet and awesome! Remember to tip!!! Must order Crispy Mushroom Vegan Boss Burrito ( so filling ) !!! Bahn Mi Wrap Lentil Soup ( actually big size other than many places in Canggu give you less than 250 ml 🫠) And Their nacho hot sauce 🤍🤍🤍

Sayuri Healing Food is a laid-back spot in Ubud with a bohemian atmosphere, offering a variety of cooked and raw plant-based dishes and desserts. The restaurant is popular among digital nomads and yogis, serving healthy vegan options like the Philadelphia roll made with black rice, cream nut-cheese, pickled veggies, and papaya salmon sashimi. On Fridays, this dish is the star of the menu.
Love the vibe of this place! I came here twice for coffee and breakfast. The Big Brekky was delicious and a generous portion that really filled me up. The staff were super accommodating—they happily customized my smoothie from frozen to fresh fruit and even adjusted the ingredients to my request. I also noticed they host lots of events throughout the week, all clearly displayed for convenience. Next time I’m back in Ubud, I’ll definitely spend more time here and join some of the events! It’s cool that you can do plant based chef training here!

This restaurant is always buzzing with a really cool vibe. The staff is genuinely nice and makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It's a big space with plenty of seating, so you never feel cramped. The food is incredible and the menu has tons of options - seriously something for everyone. I had their tacos, tea and vegan omelet and toast with curry spiced coconut butter and wow, everything was delicious. Really satisfying and comforting, exactly what I was craving. Highly recommend checking this place out. You won't be disappointed!

Sayuri Healing Food in Ubud is simply magical 💚. The food is 100% plant-based, fresh, and full of creativity. Every dish is not only delicious but also feels light and nourishing, designed to heal from the inside out. The atmosphere is cozy and peaceful, perfect to relax and enjoy. The staff is kind and always happy to explain the ingredients and health benefits 🌸. I highly recommend their raw desserts and cold-pressed juices 🥭🍓. They also offer conscious cooking classes, which are such a unique experience. Definitely one of the best places in Bali to eat healthy and with awareness 🌿✨.

This space is beyond the food, it is the energy that you just feel is welcoming, wholesome, HOME. I went back multiple times. They have some kind of open event almost every night and was such a beautiful experience every day. I was even so welcomed to speak on stage one night with open hearts. We all even danced with the workers one night it was a blast. There is so much love energy being offered here, highly recommend, home away from home feel , thank you! Pictures food wise is the "life is a blessing cake that so many recommended, the ocean love soup WOW cells feel it so good, and the cocoa ceremony shot great texture <3! Check out all the space within it too, they have a cute upstairs area that is just divine as well ! Intending this finds whoever reading it well!

A pleasant spot to sit and relax. There’s usually a program or activity going on, which makes the dining experience more enjoyable. It does get quite crowded, and you might have to share a table. I especially love the raw pasta and smoothie bowl- both are delicious! The desserts are great too, and they also sell a variety of healthy products.

Sayuri must be my favourite place to eat almost daily. As a Nutritionist, I’m always mindful of food quality, and their meals are the healthiest and tastiest around. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. I love how they greet me by name every time I walk in, always smiling and full of positive energy. The atmosphere is also perfect, whether I’m relaxing in the garden sipping cacao on the lounge with friends, or enjoying the live music and vibrant energy while socialising. And their ceremonial cacao bowls and matcha (yes, bowls, not cups!) are simply the best 😋
P H — Google review
I tried the Laksa bowl here. It was good, but honestly not my favorite—maybe it’s just me. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the place has a really nice vibe. A lot of foreigners hang out with their laptops, so it feels like a relaxed café space. They also offer vegan baked goods, though I didn’t try them this time. Overall, nice ambience and great service.
Lydia C — Google review
Everyone recommending this place, but it’s only because it’s populair. It’s like the other reviews say, chihuahua-carrying-Paris-Hilton-king of people in a fancy yoga pants here acting like they’re so Buddha conscious while talking crap about everyone they know. The atmosphere there for for me is less than a zero worthy. The food… first day I came I asked about the omelet confirming it’s not a “pancake” like sort of dish. The waitress was reinsure me it wasn’t. And she convinced me by showing me how it looks like ( there is apparently a page with pictures of the dishes. On the picture it was like a scrambled eggs-kind of an omelet. But when it arrived it was a dry pancake. Exactly what I DIDN’T want. On top of that it had strong tast a mix of falafel and curry. It was very small too. And I paid for it like 85k😳. Anyway I didn’t want to judge just after 1 visit, so I came back. But Unfortunately. I ordered the meal of the day which was Melanesian noodles soup. It was so heavy YET not nutrition AT ALL! I literally just finished the tempe and some mushies and left 80% of my bowl. I NEVER leave food. I’m extremely bloated with very heavy feeling in my stomach and offcourse I’m still craving to eat something. But I just can’t. The dish came also lukewarm. I won’t return. And advice to look out for those kind of “populair” kind of places. It’s basically a tourist trap. And a place to be for snobbish fake people. And offcrouse this kind of places are very overpriced. Very typical.

I am Vegan Babe is a popular family-friendly restaurant in Canggu, offering a diverse selection of plant-based dishes and drinks. The menu features green bowls, sandwiches with vegan cashew cheese and vegannaise, as well as hearty wraps and burgers. Additionally, the restaurant serves vegan cakes, waffles, pancakes, and smoothie bowls. Visitors can also enjoy lush salads, cinnamon rolls, vegan cakes, and even a veganized version of eggs benedict.
Great vegan restaurant! Very big menu, many protein rich options (both savory and sweet), friendly staff. Been here on a few occasions and was very satisfied every time! The least favorite thing I tried was vegan burger - something should be done about the buns. They were way too thick and dry, which made burger a little below average in my opinion. The rest of the foods were excellent though Would def come back when I’m in Bali again
Olga S — Google review
By far the BEST restaurant/café in Bali! Every time I come back to Canggu, I make sure to stop here just to sit for a long while, enjoy brunch, and soak it all in. The staff is incredibly kind, the seating is super comfortable, and the food is simply amazing! Everything is spotless and so clean. I’ve tried almost the entire menu by now, and honestly, everything is perfect. At many other places in Bali, I’ve had big issues in the past — but here, never. Keep it up! And the fact that it’s all vegan is just a dream. Thank you, I’ll always come back.
Vici A — Google review
This is by far the best vegan restaurant I have visited anywhere in the world. Having been vegan for six months now, this place has become my favorite and the very reason I embraced veganism! The best part is that it feels like a regular restaurant where everything on the menu is vegan by default. No need to check for vegan options — just order like you would anywhere else. Everything I’ve tried here is a solid 10/10, especially the burgers, fries, and bowls. I’ve only had the pasta once; it was good but didn’t quite have the same “wow” factor as the other dishes. The burgers are truly amazing—so good you’ll wonder, “Is this really vegan?” My favorites are the Hawaii Burger and the Zinger/Chicken Burger. You also have to try the chili cheese fries and cheese nachos! The breakfast options like French toast and Eggs Benedict taste incredibly authentic and real, with no compromises. The service is always excellent—friendly, professional, and fast. I never have to wait long for my food. Prices are very reasonable and definitely worth it. We eat here or order via Gojek at least once or twice a week. We are truly thankful this restaurant exists; it makes our lives better without harming any animals
Dennis P — Google review
My friends and I stayed in Canggu for 3 days and ended up coming to this restaurant 5 times!! We absolutely loved dining at this restaurant. The food was incredible, so nourishing and there’s lots of variety on the menu so there is always something for someone. Not only that but all the staff are beautiful, kind and friendly people. They always have a smile on their face, so thorough when taking orders, happy to chat and get to know you. The owner was also so generous one morning and waived the bill on our breakfasts as the food came out a little bit longer than anticipated which was more than fine as you could see they were busy, it was such a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated. Since being back home in Melbourne I find myself raving on about this restaurant to people I know, you might just have to open one here 😉 I highly recommend you visit I am Vegan Babe if you’re ever in the Canggu area ⭐️

This place is AMAZING!😍 The vibes and decor are amazing, the workers are all so kind and smiley, the menu is huge and affordable and the food is genuinely delicious. The best food I’ve had in weeks. The double cheeseburger is amazing !! EDIT: Came back for breakfast which was also amazing and we came back for tiramisu which was delicious. Everything is good here!
Olivia E — Google review
I really enjoyed all the food I had here, and I would have kept coming back if I had a bigger budget since their prices are higher than most other vegan restaurants in the area. My absolute favourite dish is the Grand Slam Babe, which you may or may not be able to finish on your own depending on how hungry you are. I also loved their Teriyaki Tokyo Bowl and their Snickers Bar, both of which were absolutely delicious. However, one thing I don't like is that they have their staff wear shirts that say “Not Vegan Vegan Club.” Maybe they find it funny, but I think it's counterproductive to promoting the vegan message. On the plus side, their service is excellent, food comes out quickly, and their 2-for-1 burger deal on Saturdays is a winner.
Diane — Google review
First time having matcha over coconut water - love it! I also got the club sandwich which was amazing and the portion itself was huge, took half of it to go. I liked the interior and the staff was very kind. A not-so-hidden gem! 🔥
Katerina L — Google review
I’ve always loved this restaurant, the food, the service, and the consistency of the taste. When i drive from Canggu to Kuta (3-4 times per week) i will always drive there even thought i get into traffic and take me double the time because it's worth the extra distance. However, the recent price increase has made it difficult for me to keep coming. I just returned from Europe and was surprised to find myself paying even more here than I did there. Sadly, it’s no longer something I can afford. I’ll still visit occasionally for your Friday pasta, which I truly enjoy, but it’s disappointing that I have to cut back. I’m writing this not to complain, but to share honest feedback from someone who genuinely appreciates your place and hopes it remains accessible to more people. For now i have to eat in another restaurant for less than half the price (pic added).

Nestled in Penestanan, Swasti Beloved Cafe is a sustainable eatery that prioritizes environmental conservation. The cafe's menu features fresh ingredients sourced from its own garden, embracing the farm-to-table concept. With a New Age ambiance, this charming cafe offers organic dishes and a serene setting above Jl Raya Campuan. Guests can savor healthy options like soft burgers and crunchy cassava fries while enjoying the lush surroundings.
Great place not far from the city center and very quiet. Beautiful atmosphere with pool, garden, animals, beds with cushions to chill. Good service, the staff is friendly and welcoming and I even had free glasses of water which are refilled by the waiters when it’s empty. The food was nice, I got the jackfruit burrito as I am a vegetarian, really tasty and pretty in the plate. A lot of vegan and vegetarian options and some non vegetarian as well They also have free wifi and yoga and meditation classes Thanks guys, I recommend!

🌿 A vegetarian gem worth the detour! 🌿 During my two-day stay at Swasti Eco hotel , I had all my meals at Swasti Beloved Café— and it was an absolute delight! This vegetarian restaurant (with plenty of vegan and other options to suit all tastes) is simply excellent. Every dish is crafted with care, always beautifully presented with little floral touches. Everything is fresh, flavorful, healthy, and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed three meals there — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — and each one was perfect. The juices were refreshing, the food was tasty and nourishing, and you can truly feel the passion behind every plate. The location is just as special. You have to follow a little path to get there, but it’s so worth it. The restaurant is tucked away in a peaceful setting, near a stunning pool, surrounded by trees and flowers. It’s the ideal spot to relax and enjoy a beautiful meal. The staff were also incredible — kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. I have food allergies, and they were extremely careful and accommodating, which made me feel truly taken care of. I highly recommend this place, and I’ll definitely be back! Véronique from Canada

Nestled within Swasti Eco Cottage in Nyuh Kuning, Swasti Beloved Café embodies everything that makes Ubud so special: a blend of laid-back charm and all the nourishing comforts of a mindful, healthy lifestyle. Ubud has long been known as a place where time slows down, a town of rice fields, yoga studios, and gentle energy. Yet, behind its tranquil pace, it quietly offers all the modern comforts and amenities you might look for. Swasti Beloved Café embodies this balance beautifully. The café is warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish without being pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you feel just as comfortable curling up with a book as you do sharing a long brunch with friends. The menu is a celebration of nourishing food, colorful smoothie bowls, fresh juices, thoughtfully prepared vegan and vegetarian dishes, and plenty of options for those who love clean eating but don’t want to sacrifice flavor. What makes Swasti truly special is the feeling that you’re part of Ubud’s rhythm when you’re here. You get wholesome, vibrant meals served with care, all while surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere that makes Ubud such a beloved destination in the first place. We stayed in the dormitory. Don’t be misled by the word ‘dormitory’, this one is nothing like what you’d imagine. At Swasti, it’s a spacious, beautifully designed haven. If you’re traveling as a family or with a group of friends, be sure to ask for it: a hidden gem that makes the stay both comfortable and memorable. If you’re looking for a spot that combines Ubud’s signature laid-back vibe with the best in healthy dining, Swasti Beloved Café is a must-visit.

Some of the best raw vegan food in ubud! Clean, fresh, tasty and filled with Love 💕 I’m grateful to have found a place that doesn’t drown their raw dishes with salt and other additives. Herbivore by Locavore is a vibrant and stylish restaurant in Ubud, Indonesia, known for its creative Indonesian cuisine. The restaurant's mantra 'Go Local Or Go Home' reflects its commitment to using only local and endemic ingredients. Chefs Ray Adriansyah and Eelke Plasmeijer craft dramatic six- or nine-course tasting menus, available in omnivore and all-plant-based options.
This restaurant has Michelin-level food, service and care, while showcasing the best of local ingredients. We didn’t know what half the vegetables and fruits on the menu were before we tried them but boy were they INCREDIBLE. There is no better place to enjoy everything Bali has to offer in its best state. There was careful attention to every single detail.. honestly can’t believe the food! My husband and I were in awe the whole time. Incredible. Just.. incredible. We had the long menu, and it was 14 rounds of pure joy.

This is completely a plant based fine dinning sourcing only local ingredients! So delicious! Amazing service and food, impressive dishes and the drink pairings was surprisingly good. The staff could not be more welcoming and it is incredibly affordable for tourists that want to dine here. Be prepared to be surprised! Fun, fun, fun!

Came here last night for the long tasting menu and the food was absolutely incredible. So many interesting local ingredients, beautifully showcased in perfectly composed masterpieces. I feel like this restaurant could be gunning for a Michelin star, it's that good! Service was fantastic, and the head chef came round with our last course and he was so friendly and humble. Everything is plant based and can be totally vegan (they just use honey in one thing I think, but this can be avoided!).
Spiros F — Google review
A refined dining experience and magic of plant-based cuisine. Unlike general Indonesian dishes, the seasoning of the dishes are pretty mild, yet the spice and the ingredients are very well balanced. Overall, it was a very refreshing dinner, which helped me escape from the busy world. Small complaint: too many dessert in the course
Pingyuan C — Google review
This was one of the best meals I've had. No meat in sight and a million amazing flavours. They asked if we had any dietary requirements or dislikes. I mentioned pepper plus mushroom for my partner as a dislike but not allergy and they were accomodating for the mushroom and explained why they couldn't for pepper. Their helpfulness was appreciated! The food was to die for and reasonably priced, given the effort that goes into each dish. Would love to go again.

I just experienced what can only be described as culinary theater at its finest. Sitting at the bar with a perfect view of the open kitchen, I was treated to an mesmerizing display of passion, artistry, and seamless teamwork. Watching the chefs, servers, pastry chef, and sommelier work in perfect harmony was like witnessing a well-orchestrated performance. The 14-course tasting menu was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish arrived as a small masterpiece, so beautifully plated that I found myself hesitating to disturb these edible works of art. This wasn't just dining; it was a feast for all the senses. My eyes, taste buds, and soul were equally nourished. What truly elevated the experience was the thoughtful curation behind every element. The ingredients, sourced from Bali and Indonesia, were incredibly fresh and unique, showcasing flavors I'd never encountered before. The creativity and meticulous planning that went into crafting this unforgettable journey was evident in every bite. The service was impeccable. Guests here are truly spoiled with attention to detail. Having the head chef personally present and explain both the main course and final dessert added an intimate, personal touch that made the evening feel even more special. By the meal's end, I was completely satisfied yet somehow still craving more of this magical experience. Whether you typically eat plant-forward or not, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit when in Bali. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that will stay with you long after the last bite. Absolutely phenomenal. Cannot wait to return.

I absolutely love Herbivore in Ubud. The staff are friendly, and the food is simply divine. Everything is plant-based, which perfectly fits the restaurant’s name, “Herbivore.” For lunch, there are three menu options available. I chose the 3-course menu with alcohol pairing, which featured seven different dishes accompanied by four locally made alcoholic drinks (except for the sake, which is imported from Nagano, Japan). The chef, Arnaud Hauchon, is French. According to the server, the menu will be updated on July 9. I’m definitely planning to return and try the longer menu next time, which includes 14 dishes.

We absolutely loved our experience at Herbivore Ubud - truly Michelin-level cuisine, crafted with a fully green and local philosophy. Chef Arnaud Hauchon delivered an exceptional dining journey where every dish was a perfect balance of creativity and authenticity. A special thank you also goes to the drinks team - both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic pairings were thoughtfully prepared and simply amazing

Alchemy Bali is a renowned establishment that has evolved from being Bali's first fully raw organic juice bar to a multifaceted brand. It encompasses Alchemy Restaurant in Ubud & Uluwatu, Alchemy Holistic Clinic, and Alchemy Yoga and Meditation Center in Ubud. The restaurant offers vegan pizzas, salads, poke bowls, and medicinal soups while promoting healthy eating.
I thoroughly enjoy the breakfast here with the breakfast bowl bar giving many options. Their coffee is also delicious but the same price as a coffee in Melbourne, which is a bit cheeky. Their chocolates are also delicious and I often bought some to have for dessert that night. I came here for lunch one day too and had the teriyaki bowl. Most of it was quite nice but the papaya salmon was not a flavour I enjoyed. The staff are friendly and attentive.

A vegan heaven ✨ If I had 10 stars, I'd put them. The food? Mind-blowing. The coffee? First of all, I don't drink regular coffee. And I found here decaf 😭 And it was beyond good. One of the best quality coffees I've ever had. The restaurant? Beautiful. And most of all, quiet. With clients that respect each other. I can't stand anymore all these tourists doing whatever they want such as they are in their living room. And the variety of foods, drinks, sweets? Large. Alchemy was a very, very, very pleasant surprise 🙏💖 (And yes, it's a little bit expensive, but almost same prices you can find in other places with not such quality and variety. It's your choice after all) ☺️
El G — Google review
Alchemy is always a reliable choice, whether for tea, lunch, or dinner – even their yoga studio is amazing. I especially love their herbal tea and always buy a pack to take home. This time I tried the Capricciosa pizza for the first time, but it was too salty for my taste. Not sure if that was intentional, as I usually love Alchemy’s food for being simple and mild in flavor.

Absolutely loved Alchemy Ubud! The coffee is rich and smooth, and the açaí bowls are fresh, vibrant, and delicious — the perfect healthy treat. The whole menu is creative vegan food done right. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is peaceful and cozy. One of the best vegan spots in Ubud. Highly recommend! 🌿💚

I had the green curry which was comforting, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. You can tell they use super fresh ingredients. The matcha was smooth, earthy, and no bitterness at all, just the right balance. And the coffee? Rich, aromatic, and satisfying, honestly one of the best cups I’ve had in Bali. The atmosphere is also amazing, calm, open, and beautifully designed, with lovely staff!. Whether you’re vegan, health-conscious, or just looking for genuinely delicious food, Alchemy is a gem.

Alchemy has been my living room while staying in Ubud. As much as I tried or wanted to explore other places, I always come back here because it just feels like home & the staff, menu, variety and experience is just amazing! Highly recommend the salad, green waffle, ice cream and breakfast bar!

The café has a lovely environment, very cozy and beautifully designed. However, the drinks were really disappointing. All the herbal and floral teas tasted strange and unbalanced. The almond milk matcha latte was especially bad, it tasted sour and unpleasant

I wish I could eat every meal here ;) Absolutely loved the creamy mushroom pasta special and omega brownie. The pasta was filling and so flavorful, same goes to the brownie- not too sweet, exactly how I enjoy my dessert. The atmosphere was clean and aesthetic.

The Elephant is a casual restaurant that offers international vegetarian cuisine with a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Located in an Insta-hotspot overlooking Tjampuan Ridge, it provides fabulous views while serving dishes made with love and presented beautifully. The menu includes options like Pad Thai, curries, and Polenta al funghi, along with vegan and gluten-free choices.
Amazing meal at The Elephant last night….why can’t vegetarian food always taste as excellent as this 🤔😍. The Golden Dragon smoothie tasted every bit as good as it looked, Asian sharing platter, Vietnamese Pancakes, sweet potato fries with honey and mustard mayo, followed by sweet sticky rice and mango cheesecake were all DEVINE. We enjoyed every mouthful of food we had. Very accommodating and friendly service and reasonably priced …a million times better than the overpriced, over-hyped Zest restaurant down the road. We will be returning to the Elephant to try out the breakfast menu 🐘👍

Not enough stars for this amazing little gem! We loved our meal at the Elephant!! Our food was both beautiful and delicious beyond expectation. This is a vegetarian restaurant with no meat on the menu. Even if you normally order meat, this restaurant is worth trying, the food is excellent! The service was kind, welcoming and prompt. We had no language issues, the menu had English descriptions and we ordered in English but did our best to thank them in Bahasa. The meal was one of our more expensive meals in Indonesia but it was by far the best, worth every penny! The view was a simply stunning showing of the jungle in the area, while the restaurant was clean and decorated in Balinese style. We're so glad we stopped here for dinner! Stop in and try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Perfect for a quiet morning with great food and a beautiful view. Highly recommended!

Im in live with the place. Perfect location, far from the noise and traffic of ubud center but close enough to spend hours to reach home if you’re living in ubud center. The view is breathtaking. The service is amazing, the employees are kind, polite, funny, nice….. the food is very tasty. The menu looks Italian but the owner is Australian. It’s one of my favorite places. I definitely recommend it. Peaceful

This place is a gem. Beautiful covered outdoor space overlooking the jungle. While my fiancé and I are both meat eaters, we absolutely loved our vegetarian food. That fact that he- a meat loving Italian - loved the Bolognese is a big deal! My burnt sage gnocchi was so good he got one to go for dinner later. The mushroom dumplings were delightful. The carrot cake and cappuccino were a dreamy delight. We will absolutely be back! @twinflametraveltooth1111 for more suggestions

We fully enjoyed our dining experience at The Elephant. It was our first night in Ubud and we’d already enjoyed a big lunch, so we probably didn’t do justice to the menu, which looked fantastic. We enjoyed a cocktail, a delicious dip platter and some spring rolls as the sun went down. Great views, relaxing Balinese style setting and excellent service. I wouldn’t hesitate returning. The food, atmosphere, and service here were absolutely fantastic. Even though the place was completely packed both inside and outside, my smoothie bowl still came out quickly. It tasted amazing with their homemade granola and looked beautiful too. The combination of great flavors and gorgeous presentation really made it special. I'd definitely recommend this spot.

We had a lovely breakfast at KYND Cafe and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I ordered the Porridge Bowl, which was absolutely delicious—comforting, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We also tried the Big Breakkie with scrambled tofu, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and well-seasoned. The hot chocolate was a vibe on its own—rich, smooth, and perfectly warming. Very instragramable breakfast experience with great ambiance. Visited with family including two kids, vegan is not usually my thing but the food was good. I really liked their smoothy bawls and milkshakes. The full English breakfast was alright including the pancakes. Overall a decent enough place for one of your breakfasts in Seminyak. Recommended. The place can be busy and most people spend a lot of time taking pictures and videos of their food than eating it.

The yummiest vegan food in Seminyak. Must try the Zinger Burger it was just delish with thin and crispy fries that come with it. The falafel shawarma was also good. Very nice atmosphere here at Zest Ubud makes us feel close to the nature! Lots of seats but still best to make reservations in advance. Food was really great especially the pumpkin waffle with ice cream. Smoothie bowl was so aesthetically pleasing!

Zest Ubud is a place where you instantly feel at home. The location is simply stunning – surrounded by greenery with a bright, open atmosphere that radiates both peace and inspiration. Every corner is warmly and thoughtfully designed, and you can feel the love for detail everywhere. The vegan menu is impressively diverse and truly delicious – every dish we tried was fresh, creative, and full of flavor. A must-try are the Spicy Corn Ribs and the fruit bowls – both are a perfect 10/10! What we especially loved is that plant-based food here isn’t treated as just an alternative, but as a full culinary experience in its own right. Within only four days we visited twice, simply because we enjoyed it so much – which says it all. The team also makes the experience even more special: the staff are extremely friendly, attentive, and create such a positive vibe. For us, Zest Ubud is definitely one of the absolute highlights in Bali!
Pascal B — Google review
Our absolute favorite place in Ubud! We’ve tried so many restaurants and cafés in Bali, sometimes 4–5 a day, but after visiting Zest we didn’t want to go anywhere else. The atmosphere is so unique — it can’t really be put into words, you just have to experience it. We came in the morning, during the day, in the evening, even late at night… and every time the energy felt so special. It’s incredibly cozy and makes you want to spend the whole day there, every day. The restaurant is fully vegan — which for me, as a non-vegan, after the third visit meant there was less excitement in trying new dishes — but still, everything is so unique and creative. And the selection of drinks is just amazing.

Some of the best vegan food in Ubud! The vibe is super chill here. Huge selection of great dishes and super amazing flavors. The food is fresh and designed with creativity. The staff and team here are some of the best. They are all super kind, very helpful, and full of smiles!! Great chill music, sometimes great live music. The views are also spectacular!! NOTE to the OWNER; please be aware of guests who sit around all day and take up space who are not ordering food or taking up entire tables with a laptop. It creates a low vibe and encourages a “work vibe”. Maybe make a laptop area only and tell guest who just sit around to kindly be on their way and let other people sit down. I love your concept and beautiful mission. Its a great place and I wish you the best in continued success!

Best vegan food we've had in Ubud. I love that they have so many gluten free options too. Our fave food were the sushi, cauliflower wings (AMAZING) and the pizza. Healthy choices, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere. This place is always crowded with tourists hanging out or working on laptops (in the afternoon). I think both times we visited, once for lunch and once for dinner, we were the only locals :)

It’s a beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere and a fantastic view. They have an all-vegan menu with high protein and recommended meals marked. I had the cacao ceremony with coconut cream on the side an the chickpea omelette. Both were amazing. I enjoyed my experience there a lot.

Stunning venue, and one of the most beautiful set in a restaurant I’ve seen across the globe. The service was very polite but little bit slow, though that’s not an issue in Bali. The whole piece of life is slow. However, the menu is tasty with a really good selection of vegan food yet was really lacking in protein dishes. They pointed out protein boosts to their foods but really needed some more Tempe and tofu on the menu. Highly recommended though.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Bali!! Didn’t even know it was vegan my fist time here and came back a few days later with a huge group. Everyone could not stop raving about how good each meal, drink, and dessert was incredible!! Mushroom parmigiana and the chocolate goddess ball were the favorites for sure! This was one of the first vegan places we visited in Bali many years ago and whilst many more vegan eateries have popped up, this one certainly hasn’t lost any of its charm, the staff were warm and the meal was great. Friendly and efficient staff. Kitchen and front of house staff were so nice! We popped in on a Sunday and they had a special menu. Only 50,000 (approx. $5) for a meal & you could choose 6 options. We got the hash brown stack and carbonara. Delicious! Can’t fault the food/drink. Keen to dine in at their pizza place next door which was built in 2021.

Great place with a range of completely vegan dishes. Loved even by the non vegans! I stayed all day to do some work and they didn't make me feel like I should leave...well I did just keep ordering! I had nachos with a side of avocado(the amount of guacamole they put on was def not enough!) an iced mocha with coco whip(which I had added but they didn't charge me for!) an amazing "be strong" smoothie, simple pasta dish which I didn't photo and a banoffee pie! All good can't complain, nice atmosphere, lovely attentive staff and FREE WATER! 😃 I will go again

Loving Hut Surabaya is an outpost of a popular vegan counter-serve chain that offers Asian-inspired menus varying by location. This renowned restaurant in Surabaya caters to vegetarians who crave delicious food and a great hangout spot. Their menu features a mix of Indonesian and Western dishes, including winter rolls, sandwiches, burgers, mushroom pizza, and curry fried rice. At Loving Hut, you can enjoy a diverse selection of vegan-friendly and healthy options from Western to Asian cuisines.
I ate here today for brunch with some other meat eaters and they were just as surprised as I was of how good the food is! Love it here! The service was spectacular. I ordered the cheerful burger and it tastes amazingggg. One thing I would like for it to change is the size of the patty - It was about 1cm off from the diameter of the bread bun. So whenever I try to take a bite, my teeth just kept pushing the patty off and I ended up eating most of the bun from each bite, instead of eating it in an equal manner. But no complaints on the taste as it was as amazing as it is. I also ordered the vegan egg which was spectacular - I saw that they sell the frozen version too which I was equally tempted to buy but I don't think I am allowed to bring frozen goods back to my country. The orange juice was INCREDIBLE, I dare to say. The juice is freshly squeezed and at a reasonable pricing as well! If I ever come back to Surabaya, I'd definitely stop here again

It was so difficult for us to find vegan food in Surabaya, until Loving Hut! We were so happy when we dined here that we had to come back a second time during our stay in this city! Thank you for existing and making super delicious food. Thank you chef for creating such an amazing variety of vegan food!

Service is extremely slow. I had to wait for more than 20 minutes between receiving the menu and actually being able to order something. Staff was just sitting with their phones, I waved at them many times and other guests tried to get their attention as well. I love the wide range of options on the menu. The dish that I got was ok, according to the menu it was supposed to be 'spicy', but it wasn't spicy at all. Still tasty though. Food here is on the pricier side for Indonesian standards. Still giving 4 stars because I think it is really admirable that there is such a big vegan menu.

Totally recommended for those who wants to eat something tasty and healthy.

The perfect place for vegetarians. The food is healthy, vegan with big sufficient portions. The menu is expansive with plentiful options in mock meat made out of soya and very well priced. Surabaya being a non touristy destination, the staff doesn't speak much English which causes a little bit of communication problems. But it as a quiet place with great food. We ordered The asparagus soup - huge bowl serving up to 4 people, homely with authentic Chinese ingredients and fresh produce. Tom yum soup - Huge bowl serving up to 4 people, spicy yet delicious. Waldorf Salad - soya mayonnaise, lots of nuts, raisins and fresh ingredients, extremely tasty and well portioned. Silken Tofu sizzling pan - one of the softest tofus ever, just melts in the mouth. Crispy fried mushroom- varied mushrooms deep fried with a tangy sauce. A definite must try. Mock prawns in a sweet and sour sauce Rice noodles with mock chicken Noodle bowl with fried wontons and a clear soup type side. All in all great food and a definite must try.

Nice atmosphere, friendly service and yummy vegan food options:) They had some nice vegan tempeh chips. Was told the waffers were vegan too but got into the car and read the ingredients and it has milk powder in it which is a shame as I had wanted to try them. To be given to non-vegan people :') shame they ran out of a lot of drinks and es campur rip
Novi D — Google review
They have vegetarian and vegan options. Mediocre tase but quite pricey. Penyetan ( 4 small mock bakso, 3 tahu goreng, 2 tempe and sambal, there was no lalapan served, cost you a whopping 75.000 ). Protena Sate @75.000 a portion ( 10 pcs ). Other menu ranges from 35-65 k. Atmosphere wasn’t good. It was warm, just one aircon was on, doors were opened wide, perhaps it was just following corona’s health protocol but we didn’t really enjoy eating there. It was a warm place. As you can see, they had chairs on the table expect for 2 tables... it wasn’t really welcoming. With the total money spent, we could get better lunch at better place 😊.

Clean and big, but they open the door. Too hot for lunch, making it less enjoyable. Only two kinds of vegetable and three kinds of fruit were available. Maybe I came at the wrong time, around 3 pm. Food and service were delicious and good. Will come again later or order from home.

I ordered the kwetiau with thick soup (kwetiau siram). It tasted reasonably good as what you might expect from the vegetarian standard version of kwetiau siram. If you're seeking the pinnacle of desserts and light, sweet snacks, this is your go-to spot. But don't expect much beyond that – their selection of other dishes is limited and just passable in terms of flavor. Madame Chang is a restaurant that has established a strong presence in the culinary and healthy food industry. It offers a wide variety of drinks and desserts that are unique and delicious. Additionally, their main dishes are also healthy and high in fiber, making them suitable for a nutritious meal. One of my favorite menu items here is the "pentol" (dragon ball) because of its chewy texture and crispy fried coating. The ambiance of the restaurant is bright and perfect for dining with family or friends. Please note that this review is based on my personal experience and may not reflect the current state of the restaurant. It's always a good idea to visit and experience it for yourself.

They serve healthy food with great taste. Really recommend their sesame chicken! I also reccommend their Kimchi Cold Noodle! Please choose the Cold one instead if the hot. It's so refreshing! *if you like kimchi of course* Today, I tried Tahu Gejrot! Their tofu is baked not fried. Consider it healthier than the usual Tahu Gejrot.

What a beautiful restaurant! The ambiance is one of the cutest and most refreshing. They have a studio Ghibli scene going on and had Totoro statues. So cute! The food is amazing! The options are great. Happy there are vegetarian options. Definitely a good place to go to w family and friends.

Delicious food and excellent service! This place offers truly amazing food – perfect for vegetarians! The interior is beautifully designed, and the atmosphere is a solid 10/10. On top of that, the prices are very low considering both the quality and the portion sizes. We didn’t plan on ordering dessert, but after the delicious main courses, we couldn’t resist – and we definitely didn’t regret it. It was absolutely wonderful. We would definitely come back!

I came here with my younger bro and Wow, the waiterss could speak English very well, even tree of us had a conversation, she serve the pizza to us and she even complimented us. We should have complimented her speaking skills too. she recommend a lot of food as well very good. The food was actually just okay. I just liked the atmosphere, it was very pleasant, Thankyou

Of all three dishes my friend and I ordered, pizza was the one we enjoyed the most, surprisingly. The other two dishes were fine. I’d say this restaurant is quite unique, not just the interior layout but also the smell. It was like pesticide, unless I had olfactory hallucination. I very much appreciate the ordering system. Memorable!

!!!!Not vegan friendly!!!! I am not sure why this place would be recommended to vegans. They were not very helpful with vegan options (they showed us a few rice, salad options) but still served us a rice option with egg, which is fine—it happens. However, when it came back it looked like it had meat. Probably good for other people, but if you’re vegan it’s not worth the hassle.

Nice and homey place with garden setting. Suitable for vegetarian as 3/4 of their menus are vegetable based. The place has nice decorations, however it is under maintenance. Still need to improve their area of cleanliness. Food are considered tasty, didn't try the desserts tho! They have as well boutique at the other corner, provide nice batik and clothing, but a bit overpriced. 😊

Caturra Espresso is a coffee shop with a unique design, located in the heart of Surabaya. Owned by an enthusiastic coffee lover, the shop serves high quality coffee with carefully trained baristas. You can also enjoy your coffee using manual brewing methods such as V60, French Press, Chemex, Cold Drip - all customized to your own liking. Prices start from Rp 29,000 per visit.
I loved everything about this café. The food has been delicious, and so has been the drink. The menu really is worth it. And the atmosphere was calm. All in all, I highly recommend this place.
Anton K — Google review
Just had a quick meeting at this place on a hot Surabaya day. The place was simple and had minimalist design. The big windows and quite high ceilings made the place feel more spacious and bright. The well-air-conditioned room made the customers feel comfortable to work or have meetings at this place. I ordered a glass of iced mango lemonade. It was so refreshing and the sparkling soda really hit the spot. It's a good choice for people to get together or solo work in the Sawahan area!
Ridwan O — Google review
Stopped by this cafe while waiting for my train, and it turned out to be a great spot to kill some time. The atmosphere is really calm and cozy—perfect for getting a bit of work done or just relaxing. There weren’t too many people, so it felt peaceful and not too noisy. I had a canned coffee, which was honestly a bit too sweet for my taste, but still nice to sip on while working. Overall, a comfy little place if you’re looking for a quiet break near the station.
Silma A — Google review
Good flavour food. Sweet & fresh croissant ice cream, in my opinion, can be litle bit improved. It's written "fresh fruit" whilst it's served hot melted fruit in the croissant which is contrary to the cool ice cream. Ambience can be improved in more warm welcomed

Amazing coffees, comfy cafe and delicious foods. Still a favorite cafe around tidar area since 2016. With their comfy place, big area, delicious snacks and foods, and most importantly, fresh coffees, i have come back for more and more.

it’s a neat place. it’s very aesthetic and ofc it’s instagramable. the place is a bit hidden from the front because their entry point is from the side, behind the cafe, there’s a mini garden, it’s considered as outdoor area. but one thing.. it’s pretty expensive. even though the coffee was surprisingly great! it’s worth it if you don’t drink coffee everyday (i mean they’re expensive almost like sb*x)

My fave coffee shop everytime I visit Surabaya. Nice place and design, sufficient parking area, professional service, non smoking area has strong AC, smoking area is good enough though I can’t avoid the hot and humid weather in Sby. Maybe adding a standing fan for smoking area would help the air circulation there. Nice bar and good coffee, price is a bit high but worth the price considering the place, beans and service. Suitable for individual, group or friends, even family. Recommended! *IDR 32K for hot cappuccino *The barista allowed me to make my own coffee me. It means, open bar :)

This establishment is free of MSG, preservatives and gluten, meaning that the menu offers a variety of healthy options. Some of the dishes that diners can order include chicken satay served with herbed sauce, sandwiches made without gluten, fish grilled with herbs, and basmati rice topped with fish.
Awesome food if you concern about healthy food. They use special cooking tools from salad master that proven will taking care 93% of your food nutrient while cooking. Since they serve healthy food, they just prepared the food when we ordered it, and they use small fire when cooking to prevent the nutrient disappear while cooking. This, maybe will need longer time to serve, but for healthy sake I have no problem 👍 but if you in a hurry and starved you can ask the staff which food have a shortest processing time, and can order their yoghurt + udo’s choice for your pre-meal😬

My friend and I had an amazing experience at D’Natural Healthy Store & Resto in Surabaya! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed and healthy meal. We tried the red rice with tempeh, gluten-free noodles, and the fruit and tofu plate — and honestly, it was the best tofu I’ve ever had! It was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The red rice was hearty and delicious, and the noodles were light yet satisfying. For drinks, we enjoyed the Digestive Smash Juice, the Anti-Inflammatory Tea, and the Honey Coffee — all refreshing, natural, and full of flavor. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the small store section had a nice selection of organic products and healthy snacks. Highlights: • Creative and healthy food and drink selection • Cozy atmosphere and excellent service!!! We highly recommend this place if you’re looking for fresh, healthy food in Surabaya!

Nice ambience, very organic nuance. They actually don’t sell only vegan menus, there are also fish and chicken, but a lot of vegan and vegetarian options in the menu, with good taste. The yeast, omega 3,6,9 vegan oil and the varmesan (not the cheese, but kind of nut-made sprinkle) enrich the meal’s taste. They have good coffee too. Not the best one but good. They have many option of healthy juices (so tempting). The staff are friendly, and everything is clean. Only, the serving time is quite long. However, will be one place of my option to hang out or just have meals.

D‘Natural Restaurant, thank you so much for having my girlfriend and me for dinner. We enjoyed it a lot, and would like to visit again. We came for dinner without reservation and were nicely seated, the atmosphere is relaxing and tables are not so close to each other, making us fell very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful, some of the best we had in Asia, explaining us all products and concepts well. But the highlight was, as it should be, the food. We ate across multiple places in Asia and also Indonesia, from street food, to five star hotel or restaurant food, but we have to say that at D‘Natural, the quality of food was the best. Intensity of taste is superior to all other places and you can just taste the healthy and good food and ingredients it is. Same goes for the drinks, we had juice and tea, and it was so flavorful, without any added sugar or add one, like we unfortunately had to experience at so many other places. We would like to return one day to enjoy this food and can fully recommend it.

The gado-gado, priced at IDR26k, comes with prawn crackers and features a unique sweetish orange-colored peanut sauce that complements the vegetables, potatoes, and lontong. Located right in the corner, can't miss it. IDR26k for gado², served with prawn cracker. I gotta say, intriguing peanut sauce flavour, sweetish orange'y coloured. Went well with the vegies, potatoes & lontong, after good mixing. They only have 2 meal options by the way, just gado² & tahu campur.

Good place to eat, family friendly. It's the most legendary Indonesian salad with sweet peanut sauce. The price itself maybe too high for locals but it won't disappoint the costumer. Worth to try :)

One of delicious food in town. The sauce of gado-gado and tahu campur are delicious (but maybe too sweet for some people). The price maybe kinda overprice. Not a fancy restaurant, but nice and clean enough.

Even though all of the dishes are vegan, the taste were surprisingly good.. Especially the blackpepper burger steak, the "meat" is tender, and packed with flavour. Nice ambience as well. Good place for family and kids. There were some animals and pool for kids to play.

2 Words, Amazingly Tasty! I'm vegan and I definitely recommend this place! It has a great nature vibe and and the menu is vary and super tasteful! This restaurant is so ethical they won't serve you with plastic straw and when you takeaway thr food, they won't give you plastic. Instead they'll use a reusable bag which is great! The only thing I find missing is they dont have wifi. For a person who loves working in a quiet surrounding, this place would be a good option. But I guess this place is just a proper "offline" restaurant.

This is a good place to spend your day with your family, friends, or your loved one. The menu here is very suitable for vegetarians for the recommended menu is one based on mushrooms or other vegetables. There is a little park with geese, pond, and some plants for you to have a walk while waiting for your order. The limitness of this place is only two things which are the high price (around 40k for each food and around 25k for each beverage) and the slow food-serving.

The food here is the best vegetarian in Indonesia. My wife is hare Krishna so there for no garlic or onion. So have tried many places. The biggest portion of cap cay came out was completely consumed by the wife. Spicy cap cay and mushroom satay for myself was delicious too. Chicken (tofu) steaks for the kids and chips for the grandchildren. Huge menu many items, great relaxing surroundings, gonna spend as much time here when in Surabaya. Close to airport too.
