I like historical spots; there is no much to do there but visiting the spot and taking some pictures; so, few minutes will be fine. But the Ponttor and also the Marschiertor are must see if you visit Aachen. Just, pass by and take some pictures. For me, the Ponttor was better, bigger area and with additional details, compared to the Marschiertor, though the Marschiertor is taller. The idea that these 2 gates are the remains of a once larger wall surrounding the city of Aachen and protecting it's occupants from raids and invasions, is just impressive!

If you are a fan of medieval architecture, this place is a must! It is a prime example of a city gate, one that you imagine while playing games or reading books. I saw it during a drizzle and really imagined myself being a peasant trying to sneak into the city past the guards and looking for the last coins to bribe them... If you are not fan of fiction, the gate will not fail to impress either.

We ate here twice and both times the food was excellent. The pork knuckle was juicy and full of flavor, and the sausages were just as tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A couple of downsides: the toilet was quite dirty both times, definitely needs more attention. Also, payment can be tricky. Tourists, be prepared: not all cards are accepted, so have cash with you just in case (see my photo for more info). Portions are well balanced for the price, and the authentic interior adds to the charm. We’d still love to come back for the food and atmosphere!

I really loved the interior design of the place. The serving is quite large so we shared our food. I'm looking for a little bit more flavor with the food but overall the meat was soft and tender. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. The catch for payment is they so not accept Visa or MasterCard. Be prepared to have cash or a giocard, v pay or maestro cards.

It was my first time at the restaurant, and it was a good experience. However, when I was paying the bill, I was in for a surprise. They don't accept credit cards or debit cards from other countries. I live in Belgium and went for a visit. Okay, I had some cash; the bill came to €86, and I was only €6 short. They didn't give me an option to pay the rest. I offered a bank transfer, all my cards, and nothing. They simply said there was nothing they could do. I left my wife and my kid at the restaurant and tried to withdraw money, but to no avail. Seeing my difficulty, they really didn't give me an option, because of the €6 bill. I had to go to a supermarket and ask a customer who would pay the bill in cash to give me the amount, so I could pay with my Belgian card. That was the only way I could get the remaining €6. I returned to the restaurant, paid the 6 euros, rescued my wife and daughter, and left. It was a complete lack of empathy. However, there was a small sign at the entrance warning that they didn't accept credit cards. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention.

the food was super tasty, quite authentic, the service was quick, and everything was absolutely delicious. The beer was tasty, fairly priced, and served in large sizes. I especially recommend the weiss beer. I especially recommend the dishes shown in the photos.

It’s been 30 years since I last came here. The Pork knuckle tastes the same as 30 years ago which is excellent. The Schnitzel was also good. Two of us paid €52 for food and drinks. A good place to start to learn about German cuisine. Highly recommended.

We’re from the southwest US and love German cuisine. This is our first visit to Germany and this restaurant is a true gem! My partner and I especially like sauerbraten and the dinner we enjoyed at Aachener Brauhaus was absolutely amazing, served with cabbage and gnocchis. The beef was so tender that it could easily be cut with a fork and melted in our mouths with a wonderful sauce. Of course German beer is known around the globe for its purity and flavor, so I enjoyed a great dunkel while she had an outstanding weissbier. Excuse the superlatives but our meals were just that good.

Fantastic authentic German cuisine - I ate here with my son and we both really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere within the Brauhaus. If we are back in Aachen we will be sure to visit again

Location is very close to Rathaus, a place with constant circulation, reservations may be needed on saturday. we tried fatteh, schish tawook menu,falafel and schwarma. schish tawook was normal but we liked the other theee a lot. prices were also very reasonable for these flavors. it is a place we will go again.

This is one of the busiest and budget friendly restaurants very close to Aachener dom(cathedral). The restaurant is continuously buzzing with takeaways where people are standing in long lines to get their orders. I dined in this great restaurant. The location is great with its proximity to the cathedral and the prime location in the old town area. You will definitely be surprised after seeing the menu and the prices given the location of the restaurant. The food was served hot and quick. The service was also really fast given the number of takeaway orders being processed. The dishes were also authentic Lebanese cuisine and one cannot complain about the taste. I had fagita veggie and falafel menu. Both of the dishes were really delicious. For drinks, fresh pressed orange juice is strongly recommended. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you are in aachen and visiting the cathedral or strolling around the old town. It is accessible by public transport and is difficult to find parking given the area and it is a pedestrian zone. Happy eating🤤

I recently visited a Lebanese restaurant in Aachen, Germany, and despite it being quite busy, the sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The atmosphere is authentically Arabic, complemented by traditional Arabic music, creating a truly enjoyable dining experience.

I highlight the grilled lamb (kebab), very tasty and well done, also the selection of beer was one of my favourite in German, but the sauces and dips… we expected better quality, too much liquid and samosas, fries and rolls too greasy. Nice place to go for Lebanese food but average quality. Acceptable price.

We ordered knefe and we were very disappointed. It could be anything but Knefe 😅. I would not serve this to even my enemy. This is my third time here and only once I found the Falfal good, thier shawrma and grill are not good. But again, THIS IS NOT KNEFE!!!

Probably one of the best Lebanese food places in Aachen. The food tastes great and the grilled vegetables in the sandwiches is awesome - a highly recommended spot. The place is a bit cramped and have outgrown their popularity. Beautiful bar with amazing interiors and a great vibe overall. The music is usually spot-on, and when I mentioned a playlist that didn’t quite fit the atmosphere, the team switched it back right away. Loved the quick response and the experience!

Busy brewpub in the heart of Aachen, in a pedestrian lane, with various seating areas and (on our visit) live music upstairs. Dark wood and traditional-style decor abound. The beer range and quality were good, service is either at the bar or at table. You may have to wait to be seated; there is seating outside too.

Amazing bar with beautiful decorations and a very comprehensive list of beers. Beers are super tasty, also a variety of cocktails are available. Prices are really good and the staff are fast and efficient. Sometimes, it is a bit crowded though.

Place is full of life. Great music, great vibes, and great beer. It mostly stays open even past midnight. And It’s located in the heart of the historical old town square in Aachen.

A typical German Kneipe with limited menu. Good beer and wine selection, friendly table service. Mainly young crowds, well behaved as you'd expect from this demographic. Music is kept on the low, so you can actually have a conversation here.

It’s a great place, great location. And sometimes literately a last location. However, the waiters & waitresses are very friendly. Also when you come around close to curfew. Always a place worth to visit for a couple of drinks.

Possibly my favourite bar in Aachen. It's rustic with a charm, good range of local-ish beers, fast, friendly, and personal service. The possibility to order food from the place across the street is an absolute plus. The only drawback (for me) is the location, which is a bit off the centre of the city.

Very cheap beer. And very cheap payment to play billiard. Dart is also offered as well as kicker. Drink here is quite cheap, and the place stays open until late.

A great looking building with quite a few floors and plenty of seating, plus outdoor seating too. Seats on the upper floors offer nice views of the town centre. I ordered on the kiosk, which was easy enough to do. The receipt assigns a random name to you, which is the name that they call out when your food is ready. I found this to be odd. Why don't they just give you an order number and call that out instead?? My order was ready fairly quickly, and it was pretty tasty. I preferred the dessert more than the chilli cheese fries, but would be happy to try other items on their menu. Overall, a good experience and I would definitely return.

I was excited to try their Poutine, but I was disappointed after the first bite. The fries were not at all crispy, they were soggy right away and also undercooked, I didn't even eat some of them. The pulled pork on top was ok, as was the service, which was extremely fast... But for a place that specialises in fries, it definitely didn't live up to its name.

Staff is always friendly and accommodating and kind of out-of-my-way and present in a friendly way. I've never visited without someone smiling at me and the food is always great as well. It's a bit pricey for what it is but I still recommend a visit. It's way off the train station frittenwerk shops in Cologne and the likes.

Good and happening place. It is on the main road just opposite of shopping street. Here you can find many good options for veggie lovers. It have different types of pommes with different sauces. Good service, staff are lovely. They have good space and decorate with beautiful and green vases. You feel here freshness. They have ground floor and upstairs sitting arrangement so they have also good view. Love to go there for great fries.

Tasty Gorgonzola ciabatta, with a German Sauvignon Blanc (tasted more like a French Vorvray) and good espresso macchiato… I just missed having a water chaser with my espresso.

Nibbles were nice, small but well-rounded wine selections, and a great time (and tunes!). Service was great but then slow; but overall a great time if you fancy wine and charcuterie.

Relaxed atmosphere, lovely service and last but not least impeccable ingredient quality. The kind of food where they can not hide, everything needs to be top notch and it is. From the olive oil, to the balsamico, cheese, breads, antipastis and also the coffee. We will be back.

It was my favorite place for brunch in Aachen. It is located in a perfect place in town. Unfortunately this time it was not as good as I expected. The prices were very high when compared with the portion of the plate. The service was incredibly slow.

The Spanish wine we had, I don't think a bottle would cost more than three euros in the supermarket. Overall, 35 euros for two glasses of wine and a starter. The starter was good, though. Way too pricey for Aachen and the quality they offer. I will not repeat.

Ambience and layout is especially good. The food took very long to arrive, which was understandable as the place was quite full. The Leinwände that came down when it started raining were very cool too.

When I came to this restaurant, I saw that the first waiter was very nice and communicative. The other was not or maybe she can't speak English. The menu was also in Germany, so I can't fully understand since there is no wifi to translate or communicate with the waiters. Beside, the vibe and taste of the dishes overcome everything. They have a nice and beautiful outdoor garden with many flowers and colourful chairs. Also the exterior design was magnificent. When you come into the building, they also have a medieval era interior design. Moreover, as an Asian who doesn't eat burgers often, I love the burger so much. It was tasty and the price also affordable, good job 👍🏻 I recommend you to improve the service and give the menu in the English version. Providing wifi for customers is also a good way to improve the service. Overall, this restaurant is recommended to be visited

Such a bad service for such a beautiful atmosphere. I was the one suggesting the place to my friends and got extremely disappointed. Don’t suggest this place until they change their behaviour. The food was good. But arrived late and some orders were missing.

Lovely restaurant that served one of the best burger and fries I’ve ever had (the dish is called Italian burger if I’m correct). The burger bun’s texture was very different from the usual ones, should definitely try it!

Great place for all you can eat brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Great selection of Mediterranean salads, finger food and dips. Reservation is advisable as it gets very busy even though they have many tables. For dinner the vegetarian options are unfortunately very limited but I liked them and my friends were also very happy with their non-vegetarian meals. Prices are not extremely cheap in comparison to other places in the area but still very reasonable. Staff was always friendly and the atmosphere is great. In the summer you can sit outside in the garden and there is also a heated space on the patio in the winter.

Amazing that you can order food from both the Chinese place and the Lebanese place so everyone can order what they like. It would be nicer if you could pay your drinks by card and if the waiters don’t have to come in the middle of dinner asking to pay because there is a shift change.

It's a nice bar with a good amount of Belgium beer options. Ask for the beer card if you dare. Because this bar has on big downside, the staff is uninterested beyond anything known. I've made a picture of the beer menu because asking for it each time is a plus 20 minutes before you can order...

We have eaten here several times, and I'm finally taking some time to write the review about this restaurant. The last visit was on Labor's day. Since it was holiday, We 4 of us went there for brunch. Unfortunately we found out there's no brunch and was contradicted what's written on the board - Brunch on holidays and Sunday. The waitress couldn't give us the validate reason why there's no brunch, and since we were 5 minutes early before the regular buffet starts, we took her advice, while waiting for buffet, we could have the drinks first. However, we waited for another 20 minutes until all the food were ready. And by the time we got our drink, my cappuccino was cold. The experience of eating there particular on this day was terrible! What I would say about the restaurant in general is that they should work on the quality control of the food a bit more. For instance, sometimes the grilled chicken tasted very tender, and sometimes was too dry, or the eggplants was served in thin sliced this time, and the other time was in cubes. Where are the standards? In addition, I only see one guy who works there in the weekend has sense and skill of serving the customers.

If you wanna eat proper all-you-can-eat, just go across the street to white house. Much better selection and taste. Utter disappointment. Everything I tasted was below average. Also, one of the nametags for foods fell into it, staff pretended there was nothing wrong and continued onwards.

PERFECT!!!!!! I thought it wasn't that good, but I was proved wrong. It is so luxurious and the most expensive dish they have they is only 16€. They even have all-you-can-eat and you can stay there as long as you want. Wonderful!!! Definitely going there a second time!!!!

A small but very nice performing arts theater in Aachen city. There are a variety of performances done here including musicals, opera, skits, plays etc. The theater itself is pretty nice and is one of the most visited spots in the city.

I saw the Opera 'Carmen'. The orchestra played perfectly, and the singers brought emotion in their voice and acting abilities. However, I felt slightly uncomfortable with the childrens 'Gender' theme, making it an unusual production. The lady at the ticket counter was very friendly and helpful.

This theater is truly magnificent. They have a great variety of performances and shows, and I particularly enjoyed the behind-the-scenes tours, which gave me a glimpse into the creativity and complexity of the theater. Even for tourists, it's worth taking a look at the building from the outside, as it is a beautiful structure located right in the city center.

Visited Grotesque Bar in Aachen for the first time and decided to try absinthe definitely not disappointed! Our lady bartender/server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the different styles of absinthe and offering excellent recommendations. After living in Prague for a bit I embraced the Absinthe culture and after 12 years this was the place that made me go back to those fund memories…… I’m so grateful to Thomas for the great experience given to me and my friends…. This was my first time in an Absinth bar. And it was superb. The interior design is just beautiful. They have also their own blend of coffee. The music was also really nice, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommended.

Great collection of absinthe, for everyone's taste. There is also good whiskey and beer for good measure. The cocktails menu is unique as well. The service is very friendly and patiently explains the "ways of the green fairy" to the inexperienced, as well as the characters of each absinthe sort on the menu.

Their menu is large for food and drinks. Their foods are simple and home made. Their cocktail and drinks menu is large and the sizes are also good. They are cheap for the sizes they offer and it is nice to sit on the terras. Personell is nice but sometimes lacking.

Relaxed atmosphere, decent food, friendly and accurate service. Great value for money. We were with a large group (50-55 persons) and had a private room. I had pizza, and tasted schnitzel from a team mate. Both were great for the occasion.

Worst experience ever, not recommended!! I had flies in my beer and I had to wait more than one hour to get my food (which was not good at all). And as if this wasn't bad enough, they messed up my order and handed me someone else's plate (very similar). The manager couldn't think of anything better than taking my plate while I was still eating, without any warning whatsoever!! They never apologized or offered anything in return.

Seems a popular and busy place always full of people, willing to play. The atmosphere inside is nice, home like, with a book counter and a lot of table games. We paid 8 euro for an hour of Kegelbahn for four people. Planning to come again!

The hotel as a whole is beautiful and very lovely. The room was great and spacious. All of our requests were met for the room. The bar had great drinks and a nice atmosphere. But on Friday afternoon I grabbed a cup of coffee at the bar and the young women working was very rude and seemed extremely frustrated that I spoke English. Friday late evening we went to the bar again and a different young women with glasses took our order and she was helpful and very kind. The cocktail was delicious and so was the dessert we ordered. Saturday was the day we checked out and we requested a late check out at 1pm. But when we were in the room between 11am-12pm housekeeping knocked on our door three separate times to try and clean our room. This was very rude and defeated the purpose of the late check out so we could relax in the room before our checkout.

Perfect place just outside the touristic centre of Aachen. Great wines and atmosphere to start or to finish an wonderfull day. In the eeekends there's often live music or a dj.

Great wine selection and homemade food, friendly staff and top location. Large outdoor seating area. We really like the place and visit it regularly.

Service took forever to give us a menu. Food then took again forever even though it was just bread, potato CRISPS and flammkuchen. Truffle Chips were crisps (potato chips probably store bought) and in such a small bowl. Weird. Only upside was that the Flammkuchen was ok.

Excellent wine bar in Aachen's historical centre. Live music 🎶 on Saturday evening. Insanely large selection of wines from around the world. Friendly polite staff who make you feel like you're in your local bar. Well run place. Crowd of locals and (hipster) tourists, all ages. Big seating area on second floor. Terrace with umbrellas.

More of a bar than most Irish bars. Plenty of choice to drink and plenty of tables inside. Not too hot unlike other bars in the area. Good choice for late beers.

One of the best bara in Aachen. Cosy place with amazing service and good cocktails. Their staff is very friendly and also very welcoming. I would surely go again for drinks or also for a coffee in the morning!

Spent date night at Nika’s bar, we were welcomed by very friendly staff and the cocktails were Amazing. They have an elaborate cocktail menu but the staff is also very happy to make recommendations. 10/10 will visit again!
