Cathedral
Catholic church
Aachen Cathedral, also known as the Imperial Cathedral or the Cathedral of Aix-la-Chapelle, is a significant landmark and one of Europe's oldest UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The cathedral features Charlemagne's impressive octagonal chapel and houses various historic artifacts such as a candelabrum from Frederick Barbarossa and Charlemagne's marble throne. It is also the final resting place of Charlemagne, known as the Father of Europe for unifying Western Europe.
Absolutely gorgeous. Smaller than cathedrals in other areas but the mosaic ceiling is magnificent. Walks and floor are marble or a similar rock, entire place is beautiful, and the story of how it was built is fun to hear!
Maura P — Google review
If you can do take a moment to stop and admire this cathedral inside and out. It’s particularly beautiful when seen lit up in the evening. If you fancy attending gluten and dairy free patisserie, the cafe opposite - Isabella - in the main square is pricey but delicious
Christopher H — Google review
Constructed at the turn of the 9th century, the Palatine Chapel in Aachen stands as a testament to the ambition and legacy of Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor. Originally conceived as the centerpiece of his imperial palace complex, the chapel was designed not only as a place of worship but also as a powerful symbol of his newly established empire's grandeur and a physical representation of the a "new Rome". Its architectural brilliance lies in its unique fusion of classical, Byzantine, and Carolingian elements.
Steven C — Google review
The cathedral is unique both inside and outside. It is art in absolute. Inside, the cathedral is covered with golden mosaics and beautiful ornaments. Outside, you can see unusual fountains and a cute sculpture of Charles.
Julia M — Google review
Most unusual- keeps the look of the old times. A very beautiful cathedral a lot out of the main path.
Sushill — Google review
didn't get time to go inside but it's a great place to sit and look at the stunning architecture, the town is nice and the sandwiches from one of the many coffee shops was great, really enjoyed the place.
James H — Google review
In the center of the old city, this structure impresses from any perspective. It is wonderful to tour or simply admire from the vantage point of any of the great dining establishments nearby.
Jim L — Google review
No ticket is required. You can visit inside the Cathedral and enjoy the religious & historical significance. Clicking photos and videos are also allowed.

Ponttor, also known as Bruckenpforte or Bruckenthor in the 17th and 18th centuries, is a well-preserved medieval gate in Aachen, Germany. Dating back to the 14th century, it was once part of the original city walls and served as a crucial entrance point and defensive element. The name "Ponttor" is believed to have originated from the Latin word "pons," meaning bridge.
In standing within it doorway, you can imagine the hustle and bustle as people came and went from the city past this control point. Remarkably well preserved considering WW2 and 700 years passed.
Carl C — Google review
Why I love it🎈🎉 Because it's one of only two surviving medieval city gates, built in the 14th century, it connects us directly to Aachen’s history. Since then, it has stood strong, a right-angled, three-storey fortress complete with portcullis, machicolations, and barbican—telltale signs of serious defense architecture. Today, it’s still alive, used by scout groups—so it isn’t just stone, but part of community life. Because it anchors the students’ quarter, it radiates quiet vibrancy and feels like the heart of this side of town. 🤏 Something tiny that you should know in advance ^^ And it lacks clear signage—history enthusiasts may feel lost unless they bring a guide or check their phone. And it’s minimal in comfort: no benches, café, or lighting—great for quiet reflection, less so for long visits. 🎙️ Real-life moments “When we walked under the arch, a local scout group was passing by—kids in uniforms, backpacks and all. It reminded me that this stone gate still breathes community.” “Pausing there, you imagine merchants and travelers filtering in centuries ago—this was their welcome gate.” 💡 Tips for your visit Go during golden hour—late afternoon light plays beautifully on sandstone and limestone. Bring your own context—a pocket guide or your phone unlocks stories about the portcullis, barbican, and moat. Combine it with a stroll—Pontstraße leads directly into the Altstadt; next stop: Elisenbrunnen, shops, cafés. 🎐✨️ Take away Summary: Ponttor doesn’t try to impress. It doesn’t sparkle—it whispers. For anyone who loves history mixed with everyday life, it’s perfect. No entry fee. No crowds. Just a gateway standing as Aachen’s medieval reminder—and still quietly relevant today. ⭐ Rating: 4.5★ Timeless architecture and living history > just a few missing info boards and seating. 📸 Should you go? Absolutely. Whether you're into medieval stones, scouting stories, or just want a peaceful pause before hitting cafés and boutiques—Ponttor’s got your vibe.
Lukas S — Google review
I drive by this pontor every day but this is the first time I check in here. Hope you guys enjoy Aachen!!!
D N — Google review
I like historical spots; there is no much to do there but visiting the spot and taking some pictures; so, few minutes will be fine. But the Ponttor and also the Marschiertor are must see if you visit Aachen. Just, pass by and take some pictures. For me, the Ponttor was better, bigger area and with additional details, compared to the Marschiertor, though the Marschiertor is taller. The idea that these 2 gates are the remains of a once larger wall surrounding the city of Aachen and protecting it's occupants from raids and invasions, is just impressive!
Patrick K — Google review
One of the two remaining gates of the now gone city walls Aachen.
Gloria G — Google review
Not much to see here, however, it’s still a nice ancient gate for a cool photo. Also I wish i could get some written information to read more fun facts about this gate and educate my ignorant self a little 😊
Linh D — Google review
If you are a fan of medieval architecture, this place is a must! It is a prime example of a city gate, one that you imagine while playing games or reading books. I saw it during a drizzle and really imagined myself being a peasant trying to sneak into the city past the guards and looking for the last coins to bribe them... If you are not fan of fiction, the gate will not fail to impress either.

Brewpub
Beer hall
Restaurant
Aachener Brauhaus is a cozy and traditional German beer hall located in the city center. The interior features dark wood-lined halls, wooden booths, rustic elements, and old-timey paintings. The restaurant offers classic German dishes such as pork knuckle, sausages, roast beef, blood sausage with potatoes and sauerkraut. Despite some mixed reviews about the service, many visitors have enjoyed the rich and hearty German food served at Aachener Brauhaus.
It’s like falling into a 100 year old German dream. The atmosphere was so pleasant on a Tuesday afternoon at 5pm. I could order the entire menu but had to decide on the Aachener Sauerbraten as it was recommended. Next time I will try the Eisbein. I love Aachen and even more so I love the Stehgraa
J C — Google review
We ate here twice and both times the food was excellent. The pork knuckle was juicy and full of flavor, and the sausages were just as tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A couple of downsides: the toilet was quite dirty both times, definitely needs more attention. Also, payment can be tricky. Tourists, be prepared: not all cards are accepted, so have cash with you just in case (see my photo for more info). Portions are well balanced for the price, and the authentic interior adds to the charm. We’d still love to come back for the food and atmosphere!
Awi M — Google review
I really loved the interior design of the place. The serving is quite large so we shared our food. I'm looking for a little bit more flavor with the food but overall the meat was soft and tender. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well. The catch for payment is they so not accept Visa or MasterCard. Be prepared to have cash or a giocard, v pay or maestro cards.
Michelle G — Google review
It was my first time at the restaurant, and it was a good experience. However, when I was paying the bill, I was in for a surprise. They don't accept credit cards or debit cards from other countries. I live in Belgium and went for a visit. Okay, I had some cash; the bill came to €86, and I was only €6 short. They didn't give me an option to pay the rest. I offered a bank transfer, all my cards, and nothing. They simply said there was nothing they could do. I left my wife and my kid at the restaurant and tried to withdraw money, but to no avail. Seeing my difficulty, they really didn't give me an option, because of the €6 bill. I had to go to a supermarket and ask a customer who would pay the bill in cash to give me the amount, so I could pay with my Belgian card. That was the only way I could get the remaining €6. I returned to the restaurant, paid the 6 euros, rescued my wife and daughter, and left. It was a complete lack of empathy. However, there was a small sign at the entrance warning that they didn't accept credit cards. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention.
Warley H — Google review
the food was super tasty, quite authentic, the service was quick, and everything was absolutely delicious. The beer was tasty, fairly priced, and served in large sizes. I especially recommend the weiss beer. I especially recommend the dishes shown in the photos.
Lucia A — Google review
It’s been 30 years since I last came here. The Pork knuckle tastes the same as 30 years ago which is excellent. The Schnitzel was also good. Two of us paid €52 for food and drinks. A good place to start to learn about German cuisine. Highly recommended.
Johnny C — Google review
We’re from the southwest US and love German cuisine. This is our first visit to Germany and this restaurant is a true gem! My partner and I especially like sauerbraten and the dinner we enjoyed at Aachener Brauhaus was absolutely amazing, served with cabbage and gnocchis. The beef was so tender that it could easily be cut with a fork and melted in our mouths with a wonderful sauce. Of course German beer is known around the globe for its purity and flavor, so I enjoyed a great dunkel while she had an outstanding weissbier. Excuse the superlatives but our meals were just that good.
Mijflow — Google review
Fantastic authentic German cuisine - I ate here with my son and we both really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere within the Brauhaus. If we are back in Aachen we will be sure to visit again

Location is very close to Rathaus, a place with constant circulation, reservations may be needed on saturday. we tried fatteh, schish tawook menu, falafel and schwarma. schish tawook was normal but we liked the other theee a lot. prices were also very reasonable for these flavors. it is a place we will go again.
Aynur M — Google review
This is one of the busiest and budget friendly restaurants very close to Aachener dom(cathedral). The restaurant is continuously buzzing with takeaways where people are standing in long lines to get their orders. I dined in this great restaurant. The location is great with its proximity to the cathedral and the prime location in the old town area. You will definitely be surprised after seeing the menu and the prices given the location of the restaurant. The food was served hot and quick. The service was also really fast given the number of takeaway orders being processed. The dishes were also authentic Lebanese cuisine and one cannot complain about the taste. I had fagita veggie and falafel menu. Both of the dishes were really delicious. For drinks, fresh pressed orange juice is strongly recommended. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you are in aachen and visiting the cathedral or strolling around the old town. It is accessible by public transport and is difficult to find parking given the area and it is a pedestrian zone. Happy eating🤤
Prasanth R — Google review
I recently visited a Lebanese restaurant in Aachen, Germany, and despite it being quite busy, the sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The atmosphere is authentically Arabic, complemented by traditional Arabic music, creating a truly enjoyable dining experience.
Latifeh A — Google review
I highlight the grilled lamb (kebab), very tasty and well done, also the selection of beer was one of my favourite in German, but the sauces and dips… we expected better quality, too much liquid and samosas, fries and rolls too greasy. Nice place to go for Lebanese food but average quality. Acceptable price.
CPR — Google review
We ordered knefe and we were very disappointed. It could be anything but Knefe 😅. I would not serve this to even my enemy. This is my third time here and only once I found the Falfal good, thier shawrma and grill are not good. But again, THIS IS NOT KNEFE!!!
Lutf A — Google review
Nice food , you get a lot and it is not expensive, the drinks are served in a glass that was a negative point
Abbas E — Google review
Probably one of the best Lebanese food places in Aachen. The food tastes great and the grilled vegetables in the sandwiches is awesome - a highly recommended spot. The place is a bit cramped and have outgrown their popularity. There's recently new space next-door but the ordering area is still way too narrow. two stars down for asking for tips on the card processing machine

Nice place right in the middle of town. We sat outside but inside looks lovely too. Good service and what a view on a sunny day.

Busy brewpub in the heart of Aachen, in a pedestrian lane, with various seating areas and (on our visit) live music upstairs. Dark wood and traditional-style decor abound. The beer range and quality were good, service is either at the bar or at table. You may have to wait to be seated; there is seating outside too.
Lesly H — Google review

Last Exit in Aachen is a versatile venue that combines the features of a cafe, restaurant, bar, and party spot. Situated just a short walk from the cathedral in Jakobsviertel, it boasts a spacious terrace that makes it popular for spring and summer outings. The cafe-bar offers an extensive outdoor seating area and serves cocktails along with casual fare like pasta and panini.
We went there for a team dinner and a few drinks. The drinks were good. The staff was fantastic. The food was delicious (I'm a vegan, and I seldom find vegan food delicious in a restaurant). The ambiance could have been better as it was too crowded and very loud. But overall a very good outing with the team. We were almost 25 members and the staff did their best to serve as to the best of their ability.

A typical German Kneipe with limited menu. Good beer and wine selection, friendly table service. Mainly young crowds, well behaved as you'd expect from this demographic. Music is kept on the low, so you can actually have a conversation here.

😍 Their Altbiersschokokuchen is sooo good! It's moist and decadent without being too sweet. 🤩 The place itself has a relaxed vibe. I can imagine myself enjoying a cup of coffee while doing some work during the day. It's also a nice place to have a few beers after a day's work. 👌 Reasonably priced with efficient and attentive staff. So glad I tried out this place. Will definitely go back again. And again. And again... 💕

The Kuckucksnest is a rustic bar located in the old city of Aachen. It is well-known for its excellent range of local beers and its fast, friendly service. There is also the option to order food from across the street, which makes it an excellent place to meet friends and socialize. The only downside is that it is not located in the heart of the city.
A friendly local pub - a nice friendly German bar that feels like a British pub. Bigger than it looks, with multiple rooms with games like table football and pool. Would have played but was enjoying conversation with my friend who lives in the city, with really nice friends from University days of the owner who took the time to welcome us, and the smart professional barmaid.
Kiron R — Google review
Possibly my favourite bar in Aachen. It's rustic with a charm, good range of local-ish beers, fast, friendly, and personal service. The possibility to order food from the place across the street is an absolute plus. The only drawback (for me) is the location, which is a bit off the centre of the city.

Frittenwerk Aachen, located in Oppenhoffallee 46, offers a diverse menu catering to vegetarians and vegans. From delectable zucchini spaghetti to African pear cream and salads with honey-baked goat cheese, the options are abundant. The restaurant also serves vegan Poutines, bowls, and a variety of vegan house dips alongside classic Canadian Poutine. The ambiance is vibrant with beautiful decor and green vases creating a fresh atmosphere.
Delicious fries. You can order with many additions. I chose with olive oil and garlic. I highly recommend. I was very charmed by the order number, which was a random name. Great solution for tourists. Great service in English. Very fast service, we waited only 5 minutes. The place is super decorated with an idea. Even though McDonald's is right next "door", I chose this place again and again.
Weronika — Google review
A great looking building with quite a few floors and plenty of seating, plus outdoor seating too. Seats on the upper floors offer nice views of the town centre. I ordered on the kiosk, which was easy enough to do. The receipt assigns a random name to you, which is the name that they call out when your food is ready. I found this to be odd. Why don't they just give you an order number and call that out instead?? My order was ready fairly quickly, and it was pretty tasty. I preferred the dessert more than the chilli cheese fries, but would be happy to try other items on their menu. Overall, a good experience and I would definitely return.
Tintin — Google review
I was excited to try their Poutine, but I was disappointed after the first bite. The fries were not at all crispy, they were soggy right away and also undercooked, I didn't even eat some of them. The pulled pork on top was ok, as was the service, which was extremely fast... But for a place that specialises in fries, it definitely didn't live up to its name.
Anastapatsak — Google review
Staff is always friendly and accommodating and kind of out-of-my-way and present in a friendly way. I've never visited without someone smiling at me and the food is always great as well. It's a bit pricey for what it is but I still recommend a visit. It's way off the train station frittenwerk shops in Cologne and the likes.
Julia M — Google review
If you’re into comfort food, this is the spot. The poutine here is absolutely delicious — perfectly crispy fries, rich gravy, and that gooey cheese that just hits the spot. 😋 They also have different topping options, so you can mix it up depending on your mood. Whether you’re going for something classic or more loaded, everything is full of flavor and super satisfying. The vibe is cozy and casual, perfect for hanging out with friends or grabbing a quick bite. Service is friendly, and the portions are great for sharing (or not, if you’re really hungry!). Totally recommend it if you’re craving fries done right — it’s definitely a guilty pleasure worth having. 🍟💛

Nestled next to the charming Eulenspiegel House, Ghorban Delikatessen Weinbar & Catering is a delightful haven for lovers of Mediterranean cuisine. This classy deli and wine bar offers an impressive array of antipasti, from savory canapés topped with Pancetta Lardo to stuffed vine leaves brimming with rice and millet. Guests can also indulge in homemade aioli, customizing its spiciness to their liking.
With the street fair in old town, we were lucky to have gotten in before they stopped serving food. We ordered a Burrata salad plate (for 1) that also had ham. Excellent. We also ordered a meat and cheese platter (for 1). The selection of food and its preparation and presentation was excellent for both plates. Top it off with a great inexpensive bottle of Douro wine and it was an excellent dinner. We sat inside at a cozy high top table and listened to 80s pop music. The waitress was so helpful and absolutely lovely. Her English was great and she made us feel glad to be there. The man behind the counter that created all the plates is extremely conscientious with his food prep and changed his gloves and several times. Great eye for food plate detail and design. We were so glad we choose to eat here on our short stay in Aachen!

Tasty Gorgonzola ciabatta, with a German Sauvignon Blanc (tasted more like a French Vorvray) and good espresso macchiato… I just missed having a water chaser with my espresso.

Nibbles were nice, small but well-rounded wine selections, and a great time (and tunes!). Service was great but then slow; but overall a great time if you fancy wine and charcuterie.
Alex C — Google review
They were very friendly and offered professional services. All food has excellent standards and is a suitable place to enjoy wine. (However, I hope they make a detailed menu of drinks soon.)

I recently visited this deli and was impressed by the casual yet beautiful interior decor. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious, with an emphasis on quality and origin. The prices are reasonable, however, the selection for vegans is limited. Overall, I highly recommend this deli for those looking for tasty food, but vegans should be aware of the limited options.

Relaxed atmosphere, lovely service and last but not least impeccable ingredient quality. The kind of food where they can not hide, everything needs to be top notch and it is. From the olive oil, to the balsamico, cheese, breads, antipastis and also the coffee. We will be back.

It was my favorite place for brunch in Aachen. It is located in a perfect place in town. Unfortunately this time it was not as good as I expected. The prices were very high when compared with the portion of the plate. The service was incredibly slow.

The Spanish wine we had, I don't think a bottle would cost more than three euros in the supermarket. Overall, 35 euros for two glasses of wine and a starter. The starter was good, though. Way too pricey for Aachen and the quality they offer. I will not repeat.

Mediterranean restaurant
At Living im Magellan, a delightful Mediterranean restaurant nestled in Aachen, guests are treated to an authentic culinary experience that celebrates vibrant flavors and a warm ambiance. The inviting outdoor garden, adorned with colorful chairs and blooming flowers, creates a picturesque setting for dining. While the menu is primarily in German, the friendly staff ensures that visitors feel welcome despite any language barriers.
One of my favorite restaurant in Aachen! As foreigner, we are always welcome and they Always try to speak in English if necessary. They are smiling, kind and always ready to help you to understand thr menu. I recommandée this place, outside or inside : always a magical moment 🤩😍✨
AnneSophie L — Google review
Ambience and layout is especially good. The food took very long to arrive, which was understandable as the place was quite full. The Leinwände that came down when it started raining were very cool too.
Kristine T — Google review
When I came to this restaurant, I saw that the first waiter was very nice and communicative. The other was not or maybe she can't speak English. The menu was also in Germany, so I can't fully understand since there is no wifi to translate or communicate with the waiters. Beside, the vibe and taste of the dishes overcome everything. They have a nice and beautiful outdoor garden with many flowers and colourful chairs. Also the exterior design was magnificent. When you come into the building, they also have a medieval era interior design. Moreover, as an Asian who doesn't eat burgers often, I love the burger so much. It was tasty and the price also affordable, good job 👍🏻 I recommend you to improve the service and give the menu in the English version. Providing wifi for customers is also a good way to improve the service. Overall, this restaurant is recommended to be visited

Such a bad service for such a beautiful atmosphere. I was the one suggesting the place to my friends and got extremely disappointed. Don’t suggest this place until they change their behaviour. The food was good. But arrived late and some orders were missing.

Lovely restaurant that served one of the best burger and fries I’ve ever had (the dish is called Italian burger if I’m correct). The burger bun’s texture was very different from the usual ones, should definitely try it!

Great place for all you can eat brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Great selection of Mediterranean salads, finger food and dips. Reservation is advisable as it gets very busy even though they have many tables. For dinner the vegetarian options are unfortunately very limited but I liked them and my friends were also very happy with their non-vegetarian meals. Prices are not extremely cheap in comparison to other places in the area but still very reasonable. Staff was always friendly and the atmosphere is great. In the summer you can sit outside in the garden and there is also a heated space on the patio in the winter.

Egmont is a cozy cafe bar in Aachen with a great selection of drinks and Belgian beers. The atmosphere is described as nice, with plenty of seating options, although it can get crowded and noisy in the evenings. One unique aspect is that customers can order food from the adjacent restaurant AKL to enjoy at Egmont. However, separate payments are required and orders may experience delays at times. The staff is known for being polite and the establishment offers a variety of cocktails and alcoholic beverages.
Wide selection of drinks. The place is sooo cosy. The waiters are welcoming, informative and so attentive to individual needs which is very appreciated.

Nice cafe bar in Aachen, great selection of drinks and Belgian beers. Cozy atmosphere with lots of seating options, sometimes it felt like the tables are too close. During evening it might get crowded and noisy. The great thing about this place is that you can order food from next restaurant and enjoy. You need to make separate payments. Many people are not aware of this as its nicely integrated. Having said that the order might get delayed sometimes. Great place to hangout, recommend!

Beautiful pub in art nouveau style in the center of Aachen. You can order Lebanese food in the restaurant. Quite busy. The Belgian beers have an extra drink menu that must be requested. Better to reserve.
Natalie G — Google review
Amazing that you can order food from both the Chinese place and the Lebanese place so everyone can order what they like. It would be nicer if you could pay your drinks by card and if the waiters don’t have to come in the middle of dinner asking to pay because there is a shift change.
Kevin S — Google review
It's a nice bar with a good amount of Belgium beer options. Ask for the beer card if you dare. Because this bar has on big downside, the staff is uninterested beyond anything known. I've made a picture of the beer menu because asking for it each time is a plus 20 minutes before you can order...

Great atmosphere, fast service and so kind with my terrible German. An amazing very large Hot Chocolate...Kakao mit Sahne. Fresh mini printers/cookies included. Lovely service!

Probably everyones favourite because its always full. Atmosphere is the best, drinks are great, you can get food from neighbouring places but eat at the bar. I just keep finding myself coming back with friends. Very friendly waiters too!

Restaurant
Pontgarten Restaurant Aachen is a casual eatery with an outdoor patio that offers a wide range of international dishes, including Sunday buffets. It also serves beer and cocktails in a relaxed atmosphere. Despite initial doubts about the quality, it turned out to be a luxurious establishment where the most expensive dish is priced at only 16. They even offer all-you-can-eat options and allow customers to stay as long as they want.
Pontgarten Restaurant is one of the most familiar and popular places in Aachen’s Ponttor area. It combines a bar, restaurant, and hotel atmosphere, making it a cozy spot to dine. It’s advisable to book a table in advance to secure a good dinner experience. The campfire setup outside added a warm and inviting touch. I enjoyed a drink (apple juice with sparkling water) followed by their signature dish, Ali Nazim, a Turkish lamb specialty. The flavors were outstanding truly a delicious and memorable meal.
Arunbhaarat — Google review
We have eaten here several times, and I'm finally taking some time to write the review about this restaurant. The last visit was on Labor's day. Since it was holiday, We 4 of us went there for brunch. Unfortunately we found out there's no brunch and was contradicted what's written on the board - Brunch on holidays and Sunday. The waitress couldn't give us the validate reason why there's no brunch, and since we were 5 minutes early before the regular buffet starts, we took her advice, while waiting for buffet, we could have the drinks first. However, we waited for another 20 minutes until all the food were ready. And by the time we got our drink, my cappuccino was cold. The experience of eating there particular on this day was terrible! What I would say about the restaurant in general is that they should work on the quality control of the food a bit more. For instance, sometimes the grilled chicken tasted very tender, and sometimes was too dry, or the eggplants was served in thin sliced this time, and the other time was in cubes. Where are the standards? In addition, I only see one guy who works there in the weekend has sense and skill of serving the customers.

Portions are large (you will not go hungry) Service was great 10/10 Food quality was 9/10 (depending on order may be a bit fatty) For lunch, the price to quality ratio is very good for Aachen We had a group of 30. They took care of us without any problems. No complaints.

If you wanna eat proper all-you-can-eat, just go across the street to white house. Much better selection and taste. Utter disappointment. Everything I tasted was below average. Also, one of the nametags for foods fell into it, staff pretended there was nothing wrong and continued onwards.
Yunus Ö — Google review
PERFECT!!!!!! I thought it wasn't that good, but I was proved wrong. It is so luxurious and the most expensive dish they have they is only 16€. They even have all-you-can-eat and you can stay there as long as you want. Wonderful!!! Definitely going there a second time!!!!

I recently ordered a burger from Pontgarten, and it was an absolute delight! The flavors were sensational, with perfectly cooked patties and delicious toppings that created a symphony of taste. The restaurant’s attention to quality and detail was evident in every bite. The burger was accompanied by tasty sides, making it a complete and satisfying meal. With friendly service and a cozy ambiance, Pontgarten offers a memorable dining experience! Highly recommended!

The restaurant offers a happy hour with discounted cocktails and has polite staff who are accommodating to special requests.
I don’t give 5 stars easily, but this place deserves it. A very hip, upbeat atmosphere, nice divers inclusive crowd and just super tasty cocktails for more than reasonable prices. The food is good to average, non pretentious bistro/grillroom quality, with very nice quality buns for the hamburgers.

Relaxed atmosphere, decent food, friendly and accurate service. Great value for money. We were with a large group (50-55 persons) and had a private room. I had pizza, and tasted schnitzel from a team mate. Both were great for the occasion.

Worst experience ever, not recommended!! I had flies in my beer and I had to wait more than one hour to get my food (which was not good at all). And as if this wasn't bad enough, they messed up my order and handed me someone else's plate (very similar). The manager couldn't think of anything better than taking my plate while I was still eating, without any warning whatsoever!! They never apologized or offered anything in return.

Shagufta S — Google review
The Cocktail was pretty good, but I'd say it's too sweet for me. They have a wide list of cocktails you can try, and well, I went for the sweet ones. But there's other really strong ones as well which I'll be coming back to try! The music was way too loud, I could barely chat. We couldn't sit facing each other for some reason, so we were told to sit side by side (you can see the sign in the picture saying "no sitting here" or something). I'd recommend trying to go when this place is at most half-full, unless you don't mind all the noise around you.

The food taste okay but the price isn't as affordable as before, the atmosphere is also nice and cozy and the service are decent. Nothing so special. This used to be a place for student but maybe everywhere the price has been inflated. They do have daily discount for certain dish though, I got 7.9€ paste on a Wednesday I think. But I would not recommend tomato soup, the bread is hard and the soup is way too sour, taste similar to soup out of a can.

Really nice place to eat, best value for money. We went for family lunch. We had pizza, fajitas and kebab, all tasty and good quantity. Wine and beer selection also very good. During the day, Fairtrade coffee is served while in the evening, patrons can choose from an extensive selection of spirits and whiskies.
Exceptionel good craft beer bar. Small selection of local beer on tap but huge selection of spirits, specially gin! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very large selection of board games. You can order pizza as well

The stuff members are nice and the atmosphere very cosy. It is a bit pricey though and they accept card for drinks. But since they do not serve food, they have the possibility to order from the close places, they only accept cash for that. I still think that 14€ for a whiskey sour is too much but its was indeed tasty.

Great service, great beers,, grea atmosphere and very good food to choose among the restaurants nearby, greek, indian or italian, the waiters will order it for you and serve it. You pay the food apart. We went for indian that was delicious and goes great with the best beer we have tasted in this trip made in Achen by brewery Bshkauv Brew, The Devil and the Meid, a viking neipa with 6.5% of alcohol.

Lovely ambience for grabbing a drink with friends or family! There are couches, board games, german bowling in the basement and a "Garten" which is like an area with a projector for playing videos and table soccer. When the weather is good, the outside seating arrangement can be used as well. Overall, really suitable for friend groups for having a fun weekend. Nice service, reasonable prices!

Beautiful cafe in Aachen. They have a really beautiful garden in the back as well. The place is very cosy and the staff are very warm and friendly. The cakes they have are very delicious too.

There are two Kegelbahn platforms located in the basement. First we ordered free days via website booking but received cancellation email. Then we managed to book a day in a month. Seems a popular and busy place always full of people, willing to play. The atmosphere inside is nice, home like, with a book counter and a lot of table games. We paid 8 euro for an hour of Kegelbahn for four people. Planning to come again!

The bar Cantona in Aachen offers a hip and trendy atmosphere with a selection of local craft beers, great G&T, and light snacks at slightly higher prices. The interior is adorned with beautiful artworks, providing a cool setting for enjoying evening drinks. Guests can also relax in the terrace back garden. The friendly staff excels in cocktail making, ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors. It's considered one of the best places in Aachen to enjoy a drink due to its vibrant ambiance and excellent service.
Very cool and viby place for evening drinks (plus can enjoy sitting at the terrace back garden). Super friendly service and great cocktail making skills!
Yulia B — Google review
Remains on the acceptable side if hip. Good G&T, some local craft beers (at a price), some nice light snacks. The layout and decor is really nice, with some nice art works. Bar seating possible.
James C — Google review
The food was very nice despite the fact that my beetroot sweet potato salad had no sweet potatoes and neither any of the announced mushrooms in it! The wildness about the salad came across as Feldsalat, which is not so wild in Germany. But anyway, it was really nice and the remaining advertised flavours where all there and that did the trick for me. I liked it and would eat there again. The atmosphere was lovely despite the coolish evening we had to face.
Saskia — Google review
Excellent buzz in this lively local bar seating area outside closes at 10 p.m. to keep the neighbours happy.

A really nice place if you are with a group of friends but not the kind of place to socialize and chat over beer. The staff is pretty friendly and the service is good too. Oh yes, the important part, the food was really good!!

We were promised some cold enjoyable beers! After waiting 30 minutes we left the place without being served any of these! No recommendation!

always crowded. Drinks are ok, mostly german beers, food is good but it takes 90 minutes to get it. So, dont order food. Also, no cards, so you need to pay cash. On GERMANY. ON 2019. just don't go there.

Live music venue
Nestled near the picturesque Burg Frankenberg, Musikbunker-Aachen e.V. is a hidden gem for music lovers and an ideal spot to discover emerging bands. Originally serving as an air raid shelter during World War II, this underground venue has transformed into a vibrant hub for live performances. With its intimate stage setting, attendees can enjoy close proximity to the artists while soaking in the unique ambiance of the bunker.
Good location near the Frankenberger Park. Deep bunker with good sound. Drinks have a good price. I was also backstage with the artist, and the staff was great. Recommended!
Santiago C — Google review
It's a great place overall, a great location and very kind staff. I've had the chance to see very epic bands there!
Adolfo B — Google review
Nice hot bunker :) The stage part is small, but you can be close to the band at least. Good kölsch beer served (3€/3dl) The sounding is bad, but hey, you are in a f'king bunker! ;-)
Zoltán S — Google review
This pub seems like it could be a hidden gem, tucked away from the city center. Unfortunately, it falls short in a few key areas. Firstly, the location might be a dealbreaker for some. Being far from the city buzz can be a turn-off for those seeking a lively atmosphere. Secondly, the constant electronic music creates a monotonous experience. It might be okay for those right next to the speaker, but for everyone else, it seems repetitive and uninspired. The smoking situation is another negative. A crammed, smoke-filled room is unpleasant for non-smokers, especially considering the pub's apparently strict "no outside smoking" policy in a residential area. On the plus side, drinks are on the cheaper side and there's a slight discount if you buy tickets online. However, with an entrance fee of 18 euros at the door, the value proposition weakens. Overall, this pub feels overrated. It has the potential for a good time, but the repetitive music, chaotic smoking area, and distance from the city center make it a miss for me.
Hemanth V — Google review
Underground club with a very unique vibe. Very chill personell, different music every week, local and foreign artists of techno, jazz, all kinds of music.

The Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen is a luxurious hotel known for its sophisticated restaurant, bar, indoor pool, and fitness room. Locals consider it the living room of Aachen due to its excellent service, beautiful accommodation, and luxurious surroundings. The spa offers a special experience with state-of-the-art gym facilities, Finnish sauna, steam bath, facial treatments, and massages. The hotel's spacious rooms and rich breakfast are complemented by friendly staff.
We had such a wonderful stay! The whole atmosphere was super relaxing and peaceful, just what we needed. We especially loved the pool and saunas. The wellness area was beautifully maintained and perfect for unwinding. Every detail felt cared for, and the vibe throughout the hotel was genuinely lovely. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway. We’ll definitely be back!
Polina A — Google review
The hotel as a whole is beautiful and very lovely. The room was great and spacious. All of our requests were met for the room. The bar had great drinks and a nice atmosphere. But on Friday afternoon I grabbed a cup of coffee at the bar and the young women working was very rude and seemed extremely frustrated that I spoke English. Friday late evening we went to the bar again and a different young women with glasses took our order and she was helpful and very kind. The cocktail was delicious and so was the dessert we ordered. Saturday was the day we checked out and we requested a late check out at 1pm. But when we were in the room between 11am-12pm housekeeping knocked on our door three separate times to try and clean our room. This was very rude and defeated the purpose of the late check out so we could relax in the room before our checkout.
Amber H — Google review
Very nice hotel, with classic elegance. Our basic room was quite large with a separate dressing area with closets. Staff is very friendly. The bistro is excellent for breakfast and dinner, with outdoor seating with a view of the adjacent park and fountain. Highly recommended!

We had a very pleasant stay in the Parkhotel Quellenhof Aachen! The staff was available and welcoming, the atmosphere was classy but not uptight and it felt very relaxing and comfortable. We had the pleasant surprise of being upgraded, we really appreciated. The sauna was quiet and spacious. The breakfast buffet was so rich and tasty! The only point for improvement I could suggest is firmer mattresses and pillows - ours were a bit too soft.
Celine B — Google review
I always enjoy hotels in historic buildings, so I chose the Parkhotel Quellenhof without hesitation for this trip to Aachen. The hotel is truly charming, even a bit mysterious. The premium room I booked was spacious, bright, and the bed was comfortable. One downside was the lack of a night light, especially in the bathroom, which only had a one-touch full-light function, with no zones. The service was average, meeting German hotel standards. This meant that requesting pillow option or a turndown service was a luxury. I didn't even see a bellhop, let alone a concierge. Overall, this is a good Germany four-star hotel.
Ilumdecor G — Google review
The reception people were very friendly and efficient in their jobs. We requested an iron with a board in our room, but had to call again. The waiting time was rather long. The hotel charges sixteen euros per night for a open space parking. Most hotels of this class offer parking for free.
Atique C — Google review
Nice hotel, beautiful, friendly staff, parking garage, underneath the hotel, good location. A few points for adjustment: - the sauna's didn't work properly, they were not hot enough, putting water on the stones didn't work. Also the steam bath wasn't working. - the room was too hot and the ventilation system didn't make it cooler, also opening the window didn't help much - breakfast relatively too expensive (quality versus price)
Indra V — Google review
Perfect Stay with Our Baby – Full of Character and Comfort! My husband and I stayed for one night with our baby, and everything exceeded our expectations — this place truly deserves five stars. The room was spacious enough for our stroller, and our baby had plenty of room to crawl around safely. We absolutely loved the character of the hotel — the vintage furniture and thoughtful design of the bathroom fixtures gave it a warm, historical charm. The king-size bed was incredibly comfortable — we both slept so well! There was a small fridge in the room, and we especially appreciated the convenient phone charging setup by the bedside — such a thoughtful touch for modern travelers. It was our baby’s first time trying a warm indoor pool (bathing suits required), and we really enjoyed watching him explore. I personally used the sauna, and it was fantastic — guests are allowed to be nude in the sauna (as is common in Europe), and the heat was intense in the best way after pouring water over the stones. You can go to the spa and sauna areas wearing the provided bathrobes and slippers, which was super convenient and relaxing. There’s even an outdoor lounge area with sofas — a great place to cool down and unwind. The underground parking garage felt very secure with a locked gate, and parking was included, which we really appreciated. We were delighted to learn the hotel has over 100 years of history. Yes, some parts show signs of age — like worn curtains, peeling paint, or a faded sign — but that honestly didn’t bother us at all. The charm and comfort far outweigh any cosmetic flaws. Huge thanks to Ms. Laura, who arranged our room so professionally — the baby crib was ready, and everything was clean and well-prepared. The glass-bottled water and lovely-scented shampoo and body wash were also nice touches. We had such a pleasant stay and truly hope to return in the future. Highly recommended, especially for families with young children looking for something cozy with character!

Irish pub
The Irish Pub Guinness House in Neupforte promises a delightful evening out with good whiskey and cider selection, as well as the option to watch live games of Bundesliga and Champions League. In summer evenings, guests can enjoy a relaxing drink on the roof terrace.
This place is completely unexpected in Aachen, Germany, where People drink pilsener and only pilsener. I always try to find "irishish" pubs out of Irland, and this pub is authentic and now is one of them. Try it. Personally, I will be back... P.W.
Pierre W — Google review
I’m genuinely satisfied with the pint here, a good pour and a smooth clean taste. Service is excellent, really friendly. I went a few times and the atmosphere was quiet during the day and bustling in the evening. Some Irish snacks (confectionery or crisps) would be good to accompany the pint. I’m looking forward to going back already. Update 25 July 2024 Brought a colleague from Austria with me to share a proper pint - given that I had been in just days previously I expected yet another great experience - dear God what a dreadful experience. The pints arrived at our table and I informed the waiter immediately that these were poorly poured pints, with a huge head beginning well below the harp, zero ’domage’ and, to add insult, a gimmick of a shamrock impression in the head. The waiter apologised, he brought similar pints to another two Irish lads at an adjoining table and similar feedback was provided. The second pint arrived of similar poor quality. Twice receiving poorly poured pints isn’t acceptable, but worse was to follow. In leaving I asked the barman if he had noticed the poor pour, the head excessive, to which he told me, in a rude manner, that “this was how it was done here (it isn’t) and if you don’t like it then drink a local beer.” I hadn’t anticipated that response from your English barman, but I would expect a bar named The Guinness House to consistently pour a good pint. But worry not, I’ll take your barman’s advice and drink the local Aachen beer in a local bar. The previous times have been good, but I won’t be back or encourage others to visit.
Muckalee K — Google review
Insane… you would think you can have a bit of fun in an “Irish pub”.. only Germans and no Irish people. Nothing wrong with that, but everyone was completely quiet… weird in an Irish pub. We were having fun as a friend group, doing a quiz and laughing.. that they told us to shut up. We left. Insane.. don’t go here! Trust me, you would never hear this in a REAL Irish pub! Just go to a Bräuhaus or something, this is not worth it..

Only negative... cash only... but well... it's Germany....no news here.

My late wife and I have visited this establishment many times over the last 10-15 years when on holidays from Inverness, Scotland. I was there tonight 4th May 2024, and the staff, food and friendliness of the restaurant is unbelievable. Unfortunately this will be my last visit as I am only here to reminisce on the happy times I enjoyed with my wife. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to any visitors to Aachen.

I had diner with my son. He took the snitzel with extra hot cream sauce and I took the salad Meisenfrei. Both were good value for the money. Large portions and the taste was excellent. We went there for the games collection. There is a closet full of games in terrible condition and there weren't many popular titles available so we ended up playing terraforming mars on our phone. Arriving back at my hotel I realised that the waiter charged me 10 euro too much. After sending an email to the owner this was very quickly resolved.

Masuto is a wine bar in the centre of Aachen that offers a great range of wines, including some unique selections. The barman is always friendly and efficient, and has a good sense of humour. The wine is perfectly chilled, and the salad and flammenkuchen are really very tasty. Always nice and quiet. Food is always good here - service and staff are always top!
We were there the second time for wine and Flammekuechen. My hubby and I both agreed that they have the best flammekeuchen in town and offer great selection of GOOD wines. No photos for the flammekeuchen, cus it's in the stomach already😁 Food and Drink: 5* Service: 3.5*, somehow they are short of workers when we visited. That's why service was slow and waiting time was long for the food and drink serve at the table. Attitude: 5* friendly and helpful, just that there were short of workers😑 Ambience: 4* We've twice sat at courtyard enjoyed the sun and nice weather. However, seats in interior might be too jam up for big group.

First thought that came up; omg they have georgian orange wine! The staff was very sweet. We had brushetta tomato for a snack, was very tasty! We might come back today ;—)

Great place for drinks! They have a huge selection of wines and delicious Tarte Flambée. I tried the one with spinach which was great in taste and matched perfectly with the IPA beer. Great music and ambience. The service was a bit slow and it took us a while to pay.

Excellent food, perfect wine matching (don’t hesitate to ask Khaled for advices for the matching) Excellent and welcoming client service! One of the best restaurant in town! We sure will come back!

Perfect place just outside the touristic centre of Aachen. Great wines and atmosphere to start or to finish an wonderfull day. In the eeekends there's often live music or a dj.

Great wine selection and homemade food, friendly staff and top location. Large outdoor seating area. We really like the place and visit it regularly.

Service took forever to give us a menu. Food then took again forever even though it was just bread, potato CRISPS and flammkuchen. Truffle Chips were crisps (potato chips probably store bought) and in such a small bowl. Weird. Only upside was that the Flammkuchen was ok.

Excellent wine bar in Aachen's historical centre. Live music 🎶 on Saturday evening. Insanely large selection of wines from around the world. Friendly polite staff who make you feel like you're in your local bar. Well run place. Crowd of locals and (hipster) tourists, all ages. Big seating area on second floor. Terrace with umbrellas.

Irish pub
Rethel Pub is a cozy Irish bar in Aachen with a typical old-fashioned vibe. The music can be loud, especially if you're not a fan of rock, but the friendly English-speaking staff make it a great spot to enjoy drinks with friends. The pub offers an ample selection of beers and whiskeys, including some rare finds, all at relatively affordable prices. Visitors praise the amazing service and highlight bartender Adrian for his exceptional service.
Irish, metal, rock pub. If you like the former themes. Awesome. Great beers, great music. Not for the average people. Great staff, working their ass off. Great respect.

Amazing place to grab a Guinness 😁 We would definitely come back. Friendly staff and a great vibe.
Awi M — Google review
More of a bar than most Irish bars. Plenty of choice to drink and plenty of tables inside. Not too hot unlike other bars in the area. Good choice for late beers.
Peter B — Google review
Plenty of alcohol drinks available here. More of a bar than Irish flavour So many places also available in side the bar
Hemanth V — Google review
The pints were mediocre in fairness and the bar woman was not the most friendly. As an Irish person it didnt feel like an irish pub

Cocktail bar
Hidden gem in Aachen. I am in the city for 7 years and today I have discovered this place which is relatively new. I was positively surprised. Cocktails are amazing, friendly stuff, good music, nice atmosphere and decoration. They pay attention to details, we were served with water and fruits, I found it really welcoming. Highly recommend

This cocktail bar is the ideal spot for a delightful evening. With a brilliantly designed interior, a central location, and a soulful atmosphere created by the owners, it's perfect for a romantic date night, casual gatherings with friends, or meet-ups with colleagues. The unique signature as well as classic cocktails selection enhanced by a great choice of music playlist and create fantastic overall experience. A visit to this bar is undoubtedly 100% worth it!

One of the best bara in Aachen. Cosy place with amazing service and good cocktails. Their staff is very friendly and also very welcoming. I would surely go again for drinks or also for a coffee in the morning!

The understanding of the taste of “sweet and sour”is pretty good here ,maybe the best of northwest German. The bartender perfectly deal with the balance of “alcohol and sour”— both with classic and signiture 100%worth a visit
