Hotel Reykjavík Grand is an upscale hotel offering elegant rooms and suites, a modern restaurant, a spa, and a bar. The hotel provides convenient access for various booking activities with its front and back doors. Guests can enjoy stunning skyline views from the luxurious comforts of the hotel. With 311 rooms offering sea views, it's located close to attractions like Harpa Concert Hall and Botanical Garden.
I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. Breakfast was delicious, varied, and served in a clean, well-organized space. The room was spacious, and the bed and mattress deserve a ten out of ten for comfort. Everything was well taken care of, which made our stay very relaxing. Highly recommended

Good hotel with a cozy lobby. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet. The bed was incredibly soft, you seat and it lowers about 20 cm, so I was worried I would have a bad sleep but it ended up being fine. Location is good. We stood there for two nights at the begging and end of our trip and while the first check in was simple and quick, the second time we got asked for passports and to fill out a bunch of forms so very strange that the process was very different.
Mariana G — Google review
Surprised by the poor level of this hotel based on many reviews. I had my room in the older tower. Very worn. Refrigerator making noise all night. But worst of all, the cleanliness of the room was not acceptable. There was dirt and hair on floors and sink. Multiple places. Asked for extra cleaning next day and the room was very clean but again hair in the bathroom. Service level was also not very good. The best part was the friendly staff in the kitchen at breakfast. They should switch place with the sleepy people at the front desk.
Martin H — Google review
Large lobby that makes a very luxurious impression. You are immediately warmly welcomed at the reception desk, and the check-in process was smooth and fast. The hotel is very well located in terms of transport links, and the city center can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot. The breakfast is basically the standard hotel breakfast and not really anything special. The room was clean, there was a fridge, and the view of the sea rounded the whole thing off nicely. The only drawback: there was no toilet brush. I would highly recommend this hotel again. Free parking is available right in front of the hotel.
Daniel B — Google review
The hotel itself is very nice, very clean, and has great breakfast and dinner options. The room was also great, except the shower, which is hilariously un-optimized with a tiny divider door which results in water all over the bathroom, every time. Housekeeping and room service are very efficient. The only real negative is the reception staff; a couple were just fine, but most of them are unfriendly to the point of being almost openly hostile. I get it, customer service jobs aren't fun, but, it's literally customer service. They looked like they wanted to kill anyone who approached the desk.
Allison F — Google review
The location is right outside the busy part of the city and has convenient parking. The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had a great stay and I would recommend staying here!
Chris E — Google review
This is a very nice hotel. Friendly, efficient front desk and service employess. I had a nice corner room that was quiet, cool for sleeping and we'll appointed. Will stay there again if and when I return.

First time here at the Grand Hotel in Reykjavik Iceland 🇮🇸, very warm reception atmosphere when walking into the lobby. Check-in receptions very friendly and fast. Room very open with space, comfortable bed. Plenty of choices at breakfast bar with excellent service from the staff. Definitely recommend to stay here if you are in Iceland area.

Fosshotel Baron is a relaxed hotel located in the Reykjavik 101 district, just 600 meters from Laugavegur. It's within walking distance of attractions like Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, as well as the unique Icelandic Phallological Museum. The hotel offers comfortable rooms and apartments, along with amenities such as free breakfast, a bar, and a lobby lounge.
Wonderful location downtown near the water and easy to walk to everything. Helpful staff worked to accommodate us when flights came in and out at odd times. Rooms are spacious and have good amenities. Good price for Iceland too. And flybys from airport was easy to get here by. Hotel has dining and a small bar, but mostly was a comfy and quiet place. Uses actual keys, don't drop in the hot spring you visit from their helpful visitor tours.
Morgan G — Google review
A little dated as window sills need painting. Electric outlets need better placement but beds comfortable enough. Staff friendly and accommodating. Fantastic breakfast. Location central to #9 bus stop and #7 stop for hop on hop off bus. Grocery store on same block
Lister C — Google review
All in all a lovely hotel, close (5 min or less walking distance) to wonderful bakeries, coffee shops, cafés, restaurants and great grocery shops/kiosks. Also very close to the main shopping street. The room was clean, there is a kettle and complimentary coffee/tea, 3 towels per person and wonderful storage possibilities, with a big wardrobe, a desk with a closet and drawers, a suitcase bench with anti slip liners and side tables with a storage room and a drawer. It was very silent between my room and the other room, which was nice, as I often feel like the walls in hotel rooms are not very soundproof - so no snoring or loudness coming through to my room :) Unfortunately there were a few things, that could be better… As I have seen mentioned here and on other review pages multiple times before, my shower drain was absolutely not doing it’s job. Even a quick 2 minute rinse under the shower led to the whole bathroom floor being flooded with water. It was honestly very gross to have to walk around the bathroom trying to squeegee the water, that had turned cold and had been getting around touching the base of the toilet brush holder and god knows what.. It truly surprises me that this issue has not been fixed, as it is very very unpleasant and inconvenient, and has been mentioned (and been responded to by the hotel) multiple times. My head end on the bed was up against the wall, where the hotels elevator was on the other side. This was very tiring during the night and very early morning especially, as I kept waking up from the elevator going at all times. I had to go out to buy earplugs on the second day, because I got very little sleep the first night - not because of noise from people/outside, but solely because of the elevator noise.

The standard rooms are incredibly small, especially by American standards. The bathroom is likewise proportionally tiny and the showering space is so small you would expect to find a similar arrangement at a vet to wash your dog. The hot water smells like butt, but I guess people get used to it? I had to breathe through my mouth to not vomit. The staff is generally helpful, but they don’t go out of their way to make sure you get the discount on overnight parking. Parking here is not free, by the way. There is no air conditioning as is common in most of Europe. The rooms get exceedingly hot. The only way to mitigate this is to open their single which lets in cold, humid air all night and is likely to give you a cold. I’d stay here again if I had to, but I wouldn’t be happy about it. I’d want to check out another hotel. Also, their coffee cups are ridiculously small. No coffee-drinking American gets by on this token amount of coffee. And the overhead alarm went off once. The staff said it happens all the time. 🤣

This hotel is fantastic and I cannot say enough positive things about the hotel! Located in an ideal spot near the major attractions, restaurants and shopping - it is also near bus stops for easy access to the airport, Sky Lagoon and other guided tours. There's even a grocery store right next to the hotel open until midnight in case you need an inexpensive bite to eat The rooms are clean and very comfortable including blackout curtains for the long summer nights allowing one to easily sleep. (And no hallway light creeping in under the door...a pet peeve of mine in American hotels). Be sure to purchase a room with breakfast included - which has good options for traditional or healthy choices. A bonus on our day of departure - we left too early to have breakfast, but the hotel staff prepared food for us to take on the ride to the airport. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. This gem of a hotel even has a happy hour with drink specials so you can relax after a day of touring!
Elizabeth H — Google review
It was great for a 3 star hotel, we had a family room which was perfect for us. The staff were really friendly, the breakfast nice and location spot on. Would recommend. The decor was a little tired but everything was really clean
Hannah G — Google review
The rooms do have carpet which is a bit odd but it keeps the room warmer. The completely breakfast was quite good! We had a spectacular view, it looked out over the bay.
Zoey B — Google review
I didn’t stay here but my pickup location for a day tour was this hotel. Unfortunately there were some issues and our pickup was missed by the tour operator. But the lovely receptionist Sophia was super helpful and helped me book a last-minute half day tour to Golden Circle. She was extremely amiable and although I was under quite a stress, I was relieved to have met such a wonderful person. Thank you so much for being kind and supportive!

Hotel
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a charming 4-star property located in the heart of Reykjavik, offering relaxed rooms, suites, and self-service studios. Housed in a quaint green-colored building from the 1700s on one of the city's oldest streets, it provides modern decor and fresh bathrooms. The hotel's central location allows guests to easily explore most of the city's attractions on foot. Additionally, it features an onsite restaurant and bar for guests to enjoy.
We stayed here during our recent trip. The rooms were not big but sufficient and clean. Great location right by the marketplace. There is a convenience store just a few doors down, ice cream shop and lots of restaurants. Easy walk to all of the sights and the harbor. We had asked about parking and the staff told us about the different parking zones. For some reason nobody mentioned that there is an actual parking garage right around the corner. We were able to easily park there for about $30.00 every night. Pillows and comforter were super comfy and housekeeping was available upon request. I enjoyed the heated bathroom floors. The room was warm so we had to sleep with the window open. It was a little noisy since the hotel is located on a corner and our room faced the street. Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Good breakfast with lots of options. The fresh bread was delicious.
Sandy D — Google review
Nice hotel in the center of everything in Reykjavik. Rooms are nice but a bit small. In room coffee maker was nice as was the corner windows to allow some cooling as hotel rooms in Reykjavik seem to be all very warm for me. Breakfast was good but not noteworthy compared to our other experiences in Iceland. Next door is the Settlement Experience (museum) that houses the excavations of what is believed to be the first Viking (longhouse) settlement here. Excellent displays and LOTS to see. We did not spend a long time but even so thought it was highly worthwhile. Service was friendly and prompt. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Reykjavik who wants a central location with a nice quality room.
Terri F — Google review
This is a great hotel in a wonderful location! The rooms are slightly smaller but the beds are super comfy. Also, the shower was really small but otherwise the room was clean. The breakfast was a lot better than we expected and we really enjoyed it. The staff were accommodating to us, including preparing us a to-go breakfast on our way to the airport and mailing my postcard. We thought there was air conditioning but there wasn’t and we were nervous, but the windows being opened was enough for a breeze. The staff did give us a fan in case we needed it, which we didn’t. Definitely recommended!
Tanja S — Google review
If you stay here, do it for the location simply because it’s right in the heart of downtown and you can walk everywhere. However, be mindful that it is around many bars so it gets loud at night, music, people screaming and yelling, cars honking! We stayed in a total of 4 hotels during our week long trip to Iceland and are glad we only stayed here for a1 night. The beds were comfortable, but again, be mindful it gets loooud!! Very loud! Not even earplugs helped. The room we stayed at could use a new shower head like yesterday! Didn’r have breakfast here since many places serve breakfast just around the corner. Just a very short walk from the city hall bus stop. Also, very sad hair dryer in the bathroom, and not enough outlets!!
Kai H — Google review
We were so happy to have chosen this hotel for the end of our trip. The room was spacious and the location couldn’t have been better, short walk to Rainbow Road where all the shops are. Breakfast was excellent. Parking can be a challenge though. There’s a P1 parking lot right outside the hotel, but it’s often full. We ended up parking farther away and walking about 8 minutes with our luggage to get to the hotel. Still, it was absolutely worth it.
Wenzhu S — Google review
We loved this hotel! The location was perfect. Close to excursion pick-ups and the continental breakfast was delicious. Every interaction, from before our arrival through our stay, was wonderful. Emilia helped us seamlessly combine our reservation when we extended our trip, Kristyna arranged airport pick-up, and Sarafine was so kind every morning at breakfast. She went out of her way to keep our water jugs full and was especially sweet with our toddlers. We highly recommend this hotel!
Christian L — Google review
Lovely hotel, exceptional staff, especially the reception staff, very helpful and accommodating. Great breakfast and they even provide a takeaway breakfast for early travellers.
Paula O — Google review
Nice centrally located hotel, great for exploring Reykjavik. There is no on-site parking, so you'll need to use and pay for public parking nearby. The breakfast is good, although the breakfast area can feel a bit cramped. The only downside is that rooms facing the street can be noisy at night.

Nestled in Reykjavik, Fosshotel Lind is a contemporary 3-star hotel offering relaxed rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi and a Scandinavian buffet breakfast every morning. The hotel features a snack bar, picnic area, entertainment activities, and a bar for guests to enjoy.
Location was perfect- quiet, safe with great parking. Two shorts blocks away from the hustle of main area so super easy to get everywhere without having to deal with the noise of being right on the road. Super easy to have a car there because you are close to the main road out of the city. 24 hr lobby with reception was so convenient. Breakfast was ran perfectly and had a lot of options. I’d recommend staying here and would again. Only judgement is that the shower is a strange design that gets the whole bathroom floor wet.
Sarah K — Google review
This place was great for our last overnight before going home. The room was small and the bathroom very small, but it was clean and comfortable. It's close to many good shops and restaurants within walking distance. The complimentary breakfast was good too.
Jennifer D — Google review
Location: about 20mins away from the main shopping street but still doable. Service: Greeted with smiles upon check in and the lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Room: the bed is very comfortable and I was able to have a restful sleep during my three days' stay. Surprisingly, even though my room faces the main road, it was quiet in the night even when the windows are open. Being a three star hotel, I did not expect full amenities to be provided in the room and I also opted for daily cleaning because the bathroom gets wet all the time. All in all, it is a good place to stay and good value for money.
Julia C — Google review
I was an hour early and asked if I could check in but I got a stern NO. Asked for a late check out and again the answer was NO. The rooms are small and the shower was small. Also the water smells like sulfur. Terrible to show in. They do have a nice area to sit and wait in. Also the breakfast was good. They are located in walking distance of stores and restaurants. I dont think I would recommend this place. Between the front desk not being very friendly and the smell of the sulfur water just turned me off.
Robert L — Google review
Nice location, friendly staff (Reception is a bit stressed but everyone else very friendly and helpful), rooms are simple but all good. The parking Situation is a bit annoying, especially when your travel agency tells you have a valid parking there. Thats not true as every guest can use it - so you probably need to pay extra fees for another company. That was a bit annoying - not harsh but made things complicated (like how to pay as a tourist when its the first 4h etc).
Tajno P — Google review
Great hotel. Only stayed one night because of a canceled flight. Good location. Room felt a little tight for two people. But the staff were very friendly.

Fosshotel Lind was clean and comfortable and perfect for a 4-night stay in Reykjavik. It is a 3-star hotel and matched that expectation. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice and an efficient service. Staff were polite and helpful, and with a couple of early morning starts I appreciated that a takeaway breakfast was prepared (when notice as given the morning before). The downstairs seating area was light and comfortable and rooms were very clean. Rooms were compact but it is a 3-star rating so as expected. As a party of 3 we booked two rooms and were given two rooms next to each other which was thoughtful management of the booking (and something we have not always experienced elsewhere). The hotel is located just a couple of streets up from the beginning of the main 'high street' with a 15-30 minute walk to get to other key locations (the furthest away being the harbour) and other places being accessible by bus (I recommend downloading the Reykjavik bus app - Klappid). Also very near to 'bus stop #9' which was a key pick-up for a lot of the organised tours.

Horrible very small room for over $300 a night. The shower is also so small that I can hardly turn. I am only 5ft 2 inch tall. Water leaks out of the shower. Only electric plug is under the bed and I had to move the desk to find it. Not even a place or a stand to put our luggage. Location is ok but not centrally located.

Reykjavik Peace Center is a centrally located guesthouse in Reykjavik, just a short distance from various attractions and amenities. It's close to the National Museum of Iceland and the unique Icelandic Phallological Museum. The property offers free WiFi in public areas and features like a library. Guests can also enjoy proximity to entertainment venues such as Reykjavik City Theatre and Sundlaugin Versolum Swimming Pool.
Was hesitant after reading other reviews, but I think there are a few things to consider. After reading these reviews it seems two things are clear. First being that it changed hands sometime in the past, who knows? Second the owners or whoever rents the house as a full-time resident do have children, and they can be heard. If you are fine with this it is a great place to stay. Clean, and we had no difficulties due to noise or any other issues!
Curtis S — Google review
From the outside it looks a bit a old, but inside is very nice. Bathrooms are clean, our bedroom was quite small, but clean and warm. Short contact with the owner went very smooth, as we didn't know which roomnumber we had. It's situated in a quiet area of Reykjavik.
Rick K — Google review
It's a nice place, it has some amenities that are very useful, like a coffee machine and water heater that aren't mentioned online. A lot of information they use on their site is however, outdated. Including information on how to get there. All in all though, i would say it's a pleasant stay thus far.
Bram J — Google review
Curious stay, because check-in simply happened by phone for us to communicate that we’d arrived, to get the code to enter, and to know what our room number was. The place is clean and it’s a big three-floor house in the outskirts of Reykjavik, which is an interesting area to stay in, too. It’s right next to a big park and a school, very quiet and cute, and there are two huge and very soft cats in the yard. The house is interesting to see, there are plenty of books and several bookshelves with interesting political and cultural themed books. There was a couple having breakfast in the morning with us and we had the surprise of a coffee machine and various kitchen equipment and ingredients at our disposal. An interesting thing was the shower, which, at least in July 2025 and on the ground floor, seemed to give only thermal water: no cold water (unlike in the sink, of course), but only hot water, ranging from boiling hot to temperature of the sun hot – and of sulphuric smell. Pretty interesting if indeed it was genuine thermal water coming out of there. Anyway, it’s nice to travel and to stay in a house that feels like a real house, and with other fellow travelers in other rooms. We only stayed one night and we didn’t understand what the deal with the “peace center” is and what the place is and means exactly, but we liked it!!!
Irene A — Google review
Weird that there were so many bad reviews about this place on google maps. And not on other places My experience couldn’t be further from the others. We had a booking at downtown Reykjavik, which got cancelled due to some problem with the card, and we needed something last minute before we left for Amsterdam. Yusuf allowed us to leave our luggage here for 3 days before our stay, which was appreciated. He even moved our things into our room on the day of our reservation! Must be new management from the sound of the other reviews- didn’t come across any of the other people mentioned in the reviews We were there only for the night , but Yusuf allowed us to park, and was available 10 pm to answer any questions. Shared bathroom was not an issue, it was clean and the rooms were comfortable. I thought with many rooms it might be noisy, but at 8/9 am it was still so quiet and peaceful, I’m a sensitive sleeper and didn’t wake up all night. One couple had woken up in the am, they were quietly having breakfast downstairs. We were in the top area upstairs with a living area, shared bathroom and a bedroom for 4 of us. Bedding was clean and room was warm. The shower was hot. Albeit the water has a smell of sulphur so we didn’t drink it. We filled it from elsewhere before coming here. Overall it was a great experience. Highly recommend if the host is Yusuf !

There is nothing peaceful about this place. It is a guys house w paper thin walls, a crying baby/kid, flimsy stair railings, and taped doors. Our curtains didn’t open and the beds were flimsy. We stupidly made a two night non reimbursable reservation thinking it was a good deal but it’s 25 min drive outside the city center so the whole you can walk to the museum in 15 min is untrue. There was one working shower/bathroom for 10+ rooms. There were construction materials for sheet rocking next to the kitchen. Free parking was the best thing we could say.

I wanted to provide a higher rating as the building is beautiful and the room was huge. However, I need to be fair to other potential travellers. We only stayed for one night, therefore these issues weren't really a problem for us as we literally arrived at 9:30pm and we're gone the following morning. We were only given four beds for five people. The room was unbearably hot, I didn't sleep well. The toilet moved when someone sat on it and the bath area was not very clean, the mirror near the bath was filthy. The kitchen area looked and smelt grubby. The dining chairs we used bent backwards as we sat down, so we changed chairs. When we were leaving, the ceiling near the front door suddenly developed a leak and poured over my son. We still have no idea what this was and left straight after. It's a shame as this place has so much potential but looks as though it has not been maintained properly for quite some time.

The bed is smelly and kitchen is dirty. I saw the review from 9 months ago said there were no spoons to use, until now there are still no spoons. The worst accommodation in Iceland during 2 weeks travel.

Nice location on the waterfront. About 5 minutes walk to the touristy shops/restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was very good with a nice bar. The bedrooms were very comfortable. Great big towels for the shower. There are multiple areas to relax on the first floor. We paid to have breakfast every day, and it was tasty and a plentiful buffet. Well worth adding on. The pick-up location for the tour I scheduled was only a short walk to the bus stop. We would definitely stay here again. The staff were all helpful and nice.

We stay for 4 nights in late June. The experience was fantastic. A family of 4 with 2 young adults. Stayed in 2 rooms they booked for us next to each other upon request. I could see they had our rooms/key cards sat aside from the usual stack when we checked in. Rooms, sheets, towels, everything was clean. Great view of the old harbor. They even brought a ship in on dry dock one morning while we watched. Great location to walk to any shops, restaurants, historical locations. I don't know about parking if you have a vehicle as we didn't have one. The breakfast was very acceptable. The Bar/Restaurant had good happy hours(early and late) and prices were right with everyone else. Staff was always friendly too. We didn't eat there though. The staff was very helpful if we had questions or needed anything.

Great hotel - central location walkable to almost everything in Reykjavík; rooms were clean and the front desk staff was great. The mini fridges are more just for keeping stuff cool instead of refrigerating, so just keep that in mind. But I’d definitely recommend staying here.
Joseph K — Google review
An excellent location, the rooms are competitively priced. Wonderful room and the staff were extra helpful and friendly. Very good breakfast buffet. It is worth spending a little more for a room on the water side, as the street traffic was noisy in the early mornings. My room was clean, comfortable and the hotel was safe and extremely convenient. Fantastic stay. Cheers!
Chuck D — Google review
Unfortunately, the restaurant staff could use some hospitality training. I sat down around 1 pm with my laptop and a small pastry I’d bought elsewhere, planning to order a coffee. Even though the restaurant was completely empty, I was immediately asked to leave. In the end, I decided not to stay or order anything — that’s not the kind of attitude guests expect in a hotel restaurant. If people were actually dining, I’d understand, but when it’s empty, this kind of behavior just feels unwelcoming.

Absolutely phenomenal hotel. I was there staying for business and had an opportunity to walk throughout Reykjavík. The staff are very nice and great at their jobs. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was available as well as the space. Definitely recommend and hope to be back again soon.

Located at the quaint old harbor , a stones throw to cafes , restaurants , shops. They also have the best Cappuccino outside of Italy . Rooms are comfortable, cozy . We slept well. Stayed here October 21 to October 27

Central Guesthouse Reykjavik offers minimalist rooms and an apartment in a relaxed setting, featuring free Wi-Fi and a shared kitchen. Located just a short distance from the modern theatre 'Volcano House' and within walking distance to the center of Reykjavik, this 2-star guesthouse provides convenient access to attractions such as the National Museum of Iceland and Icelandic Street Food. Guests have described the rooms as cute and cozy, with well-equipped kitchens and ample space for relaxation.
This is a gorgeous little guesthouse in easy walking distance to all the major attractions and sites in Reykjavik. The house is quiet, with a sleek bathroom, neat bedrooms, underfloor heating, and a spacious kitchen/living area. There is a step from the road down to the front door and two biggish steps from the door down to the floor itself but they are not hard to manage (even with a buggy).
Jane C — Google review
Great location & very basic accommodation. When we arrived we had great difficulty getting access to the room we booked. We received no code to get in. Besure you get a code when you book as we were just lucky that another resident let us in.
Olga — Google review
When I arrived to this accommodation, it was around 8 pm, freezing weather, however the main entrance never opened even though I put the right access code. It was NEVER OPENED before someone inside discovered me shivering outside and open it. The host NEVER ANSWERED to my phone call and they did nothing to allow me to enter the accommodation that night. The situation was worse when I entered there. Every name in tickets was “Last Minute”, not the real name of guests, I cannot find where my room is. People who arrived before me just picked up any keys available. Moreover, I left some alcohol, orange juice and eggs inside the refrigerator which was separated into the room number and someone stole them just in one day. The total cost was more than 3,000 ISK and I was really upset but the host answered me really late that they cannot do anything for me. (And this happened again in the next day.) The toilet door NEVER LOCKED from the inside and opened from the outside, so someone else came in while I was washing. If I could go back to when I booked accommodation, I would never make the mistake of booking this accommodation. If you really want to shiver in the cold when you arrive in Reykjavik or hope to have your food stolen, or desire to feel anxious about washing in a bathroom that won’t lock, book this accommodation and ruin your journey.
Sena K — Google review
We stayed in a dedicated 4 bedroom apartment on the back side of the building. In contrast to other ratings here, our room was quite good (especially for the low price). It was reasonably clean and had everything included (kitchen and bathroom). Upon arrival we picked up our key by ourselves and entered the apartment without any problems.
Tom S — Google review
We had a nice stay in this ideally located guesthouse. Very reasonably priced, clean rooms and good communication for arrival instructions. The bathroom was a bit small and often taken but the kitchen is big enough for several people to cook at the same time
Alyssa B — Google review
The hostel is in a great location for visiting the city, literally 5 minutes by walk. Check-in went well, the place is easy to find but the parking on the street is not free. The building is a bit old and should really be renovated (especially the bathrooms, super humid and with mold on the ceilings). The room was overall clean but bed linen had some stains. Also, 2 bathrooms for 11 rooms is really not enough. It is ok for one night on a budget, but in full honesty I wouldn't get back there.
Chiara B — Google review
Positives: rooms are clean and nice, location is excellent. Negatives: the bathrooms are in dire need of attention. Upstairs shower did not drain properly and downstairs bathroom/toilet was not lockable and the shower didn't work. Our last room had a leaking radiator which apparently had been in that state for a number of days.
Martin H — Google review
Absolute disappointment! Can NOT recommend. We booked one night stay for our last night in Iceland. Check in was at 1pm. When we reached, there was no one there, the keys weren’t where they were supposed to be, the owner did not respond to phone calls, sms, email and via booking portal. We decided to come back a bit later and check again. We came back 3 hours later - same situation. All rooms were still dirty, there were other travellers that had the same problem. Apparently the cleaner was sick (but reading through other reviews this was not a new problem but has been the case for a while). 5 hours later we talked to the booking website and they relocated us to a different guesthouse. We all understand that unplanned things happen, such as sick employees, but at least have the decency to inform travellers, refund the location if you find no substitute employees, or at least give an honest timeline when the rooms will be ready. Absolute disappointment and it cost us several hours of our last day in Iceland which we would have been able to spend in a much more enjoyable way.

Nestled in the vibrant Reykjavik 101 district, the City Center Hotel Reykjavik is an ideal base for exploring the city's rich culture and stunning architecture. Just a short stroll from iconic landmarks like Harpa Concert Hall and Rathhus City Hall, this hotel offers easy access to attractions such as the futuristic Perlan Dining Restaurant and the beautiful Sun Voyager Sculpture. With its cozy lounge bar and proximity to local hotspots, guests can enjoy both relaxation and adventure during their stay.
This hotel is in the perfect location! It’s close to so many good restaurants and things to do! Also, if you don’t want to go far it has a bar right downstairs. The decor is amazing and the room was clean and spacious. Some people complained of noise in other reviews but I didn’t have any issues with that! Highly recommend it here!
Mandii M — Google review
Clean and comfortable. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room is a good size. It can be pretty loud at night because it's in the city center, which I sleep hard so it didn't bother me but something to be aware of. With the cost of parking, I'd recommend staying somewhere else that has parking available; I knew this beforehand but didn't realize how much parking would end up being. Hotel staff are helpful and kind. Just sharing some considerations to make the best choice for your needs in a hotel. I think it's a great and comfortable place to stay but probably better for someone without a car and who is more likely to be out late and not bothered by the noise.
Katelyn R — Google review
We were given a lovely warm welcome and the staff were amazing throughout our stay. Nice sized room with everything you need and really comfortable bed. A bit of noise from the street outside but the hotel provides you with earplugs and a sleep mask which was a nice touch.
Jodie P — Google review
We accidentally walked into City Center Hotel thinking it was the hotel we had booked for our stay in Iceland, only to realize we had mixed it up with another property a 45 minute walk away. Despite not being actual guests, we were warmly greeted by Mel at the front desk, who went above and beyond to help us. She was incredibly sweet, friendly, and full of great advice for getting around downtown Reykjavik. She even gave us excellent breakfast recommendations that helped us make the most of our morning. When we explained our situation and found out there wasn’t availability for our group of six, Mel kindly offered to call a cab for us and assist with the hiccup in our travel plans. Her helpfulness and compassion made a stressful moment so much easier to navigate. Her kindness and professionalism left such a great impression on us that we’ve already decided we’ll be booking City Center Hotel for our next visit. If this is how they treat someone who isn’t staying there, we can only imagine how great the experience must be as an actual guest. Thank you, Mel, for turning a mistake into a memorable part of our trip. You deserve all the good karma in the world for the kindness and understanding you showed us today! <3

Avoid this hotel if you’re looking for peace and rest. Unfortunately, the location is directly across from a noisy skatepark and a motorcycle hangout, creating a constant barrage of sound throughout the day and well into the night. The hotel lacks air conditioning or proper ventilation, so you’re forced to keep the windows open—inviting in every bit of the chaos. From the sound of skateboards slamming against concrete, to the roar of motorcycles seemingly revving just to trigger nearby car alarms, the noise is relentless. Late at night, the situation worsens as intoxicated crowds pour out of nearby bars, shouting, arguing, and congregating around a courtyard food stand that amplifies the noise like a speaker system. If sleep or relaxation is important to your stay, this is not the hotel for you. Additionally, be prepared to pay a premium—roughly 30% more than average—for food, drinks, and shopping in the immediate area. Regrettably, our experience here was anything but restful or enjoyable.

A hidden gem right in the city of Reykjavik. This place surprised me a lot to be honest. The hospitality and service was superb and the room very comfy and stocked to the brim with amenities! Will definitely stay here again. P.s. I slept so well that I overslept 😅

Expensive, like everything in Reykjavik. There was a qr code to get free breakfast at neighbor hotel, but you do have to pay for it in reservation (kind of misleading). Our room was amazing. Location you can't beat. Needed soap and you have to get it yourself, but they didn't have any. We eventually got soap.
Mathew W — Google review
Location is good, room is not big but fine. The only thing I do care is room cleaning. Our suitcase is folded roughly, and it's the first hotel we met that won't fold the pyjamas and put on bed tidily, instead, they threw them causally on our suitcase. Also the quilt is very small, like it's kid size.

Bus Hostel Reykjavik is a vibrant and relaxed hostel with basic dorms and private rooms. Housed in a former bus terminal near Reykjavik's domestic airport, the building's high ceilings and oversized doors add to its unique charm. The interior boasts retro furnishings, rugs, and quirky old paintings that create an elegant and homely atmosphere. The hostel features communal kitchens, a spacious common room, and an onsite bar where backpackers can swap stories.
Had a great time here, even though it was a short day (due to a 22 hour layover). The staff was very accommodating and nice, helped us with bus back to airport. We stayed in the 16 bed dormatory and it was full. Felt very safe and it was very quiet even though it was full. Bathrooms were clean, beds comfy, common areas were comfortable as well. We walked to a few places and it's super easy to walk anywhere. Very positive experience, if we go back to Reykjavik, we will definitely be back here - but maybe a private room for a longer stay. 😃
Zuzana P — Google review
The hostel has an excellent location, just a 15–20 minute walk to the city center. It’s quite clean, and I really liked the check-in process: you simply enter your booking code on the website and receive the code for your room door — no unnecessary bureaucracy. On the downside, I found it strange that, despite paying almost €150 per night for the room, towels are not provided and you have to pay an extra €3.50 for each one. I think this is a small thing that could easily be made complimentary for guests. It would also be nice to offer free tea and coffee for guests, as is often the case in other hostels. The room is equipped with a bed, hooks for clothes, a bench, and something like a small desk — nothing excessive.
Aleksandr M — Google review
Everything about this hostel is amazing. I have done memories of the stay, and I wanna go back. The place is spotless, quiet and super comfy. The front desk lady has amazing taste in music and will make you feel right at home. The kitchen was the most eventful place and I made a few friends there. Absolutely loved this place.
Debrup C — Google review
Well located from the bus terminal and town, it was also very quiet. The lack of staff overnight was a little frustrating as with all the information sent ahead of arrival, the code to enter the building wasn’t accepted and it was by chance that another guest arrived to let me in. Decent facilities and all very clean. This is obviously (from my experience) not somewhere people stay for many nights. In the two nights I was there everyone else left each day. Not a bad thing, but again a little frustrating having a high turnover of people banging around in the early morning.
Danny S — Google review
Its a bigger setup compared to some of the other smaller hostels in Rejkyavik. Closer to the city center and close to the bus stop that gets you there. The only thing I felt lacking in the whole place was some curtains in the room for privacy. Otherwise it was fine for a one night stay.
Deepak K — Google review
The people at Bus Hostel Reykjavik go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and taken care of! The facilities are extremely nice and clean! The hostel is very quiet and safe. We stayed a total of three nights and slept great. The shared kitchen is large and fully stocked with two fridges and a stove + everything you need
Cole S — Google review
Encountered some issues with the check in and also the room, but everything was handled in a very professional manner. Rooms, kitchen and especially the bathrooms were well kept and clean. Maybe some curtains for the beds to add a bit more privacy would be a nice touch.
DDD D — Google review
The staff are so kind and sweet. The location is also perfect for tourists. It's only about 18 min from the city where all the restaurants and tour spots are and convenient since it's located really close to the BSI bus terminal. Lots of tour buses stop here so a perfect place to stay. The rooms and restrooms are very clean as well. The restrooms are private which is nice too.

This guesthouse is perfect. Located just next to the church (though your afternoon jet leg sleep could be disturbed by the church rings every 15mins). The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room is decent. Shard bathroom is quite nice with decent water pressure and shampoo/shower gel. Room is big enough with a single sink and a small water kettle.

We loved our stay here in early September. We would definitely stay here again! Very comfy and home-like, and we quite fell in love with Oskar, a member of the family that this house was first built for. Located close to many things we wanted to visit and walking distance to our Golden Circle Tour pick up location. Beautiful "Moderne" architectural details can be found in the home; and it's very hospitable.

Igdlo Guesthouse in Reykjavik is a popular choice for travelers due to its convenient location and great facilities. Situated in the heart of Reykjavik, it offers free parking and a picnic area, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. The guesthouse provides budget rooms suitable for families or groups of friends, with shared bathrooms and clean, comfortable accommodations.
We stayed at Igdlo Guesthouse for three nights and had a comfortable stay. We opted for a room with a private bathroom, which was clean and convenient. The shared kitchen was well-equipped and useful for preparing meals. The location is quiet but just a short walk from the city center, making it easy to get around. Great value for a simple, restful stay in Reykjavik.

This was a nice comfortable stay with quiet surroundings and the nicest staff ever. The rooms are clean, kitchen too with plenty of space to prepare your food, cozy breakfast and spotless bathrooms. The location is great with the center being about 10 minute walk. Thank you for the nice stay and advices!

The location is great, everything is clean, and there’s a kitchen where you can make coffee, tea, or cook food. The staff are very friendly, and in the room there’s a big heater where you can dry your clothes. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was hard to find my room, because it was a few houses away from the building shown on the map. Overall, it’s very good for the price.
Masha T — Google review
The reception was closed the day I arrived, but I got very good instructions by e-mail about the door opening code and how to find and get into my room. Room was clean and comfortable. Downstairs bathroom was also clean. Upstairs there's the kitchen where you could either have a breakfast for 5 Euro or put your own stuff from Supermarket into a refrigerator. Coffee and Tea was free all the time. Hallgrimskirkja and City Center are about 10 Minute walk away. I really enjoyed my stay there. 😊

This is a solid hostel to stay at in Reykjavik. Our room was spacious, offered a wardrobe and a sink, as well as good lighting. As other visitors were quiet and respectful, we didn't experience the difficulties others have written about. Our room was just across the hall from the bathroom, which was clean and decently equipped. The kitchen offered free coffee all day and was equipped with everything necessary for a four day stay. Our own cutlery we washed in the dishwasher disappeared for three days, but was "found" by the manager just before we left. The hostel is a short walk from the city centre and located beside a major traffic route, which wasn't a problem noise-wise for us.
Resa — Google review
I have no words... what is this place?! You can't open the window because of the noise, you cand close the window because of humidity and smell. MOLD in rooms! Walls are paper thin. Someone checked our door at night and that was scary. The water damage- is it even legal to house people in a room like that? The door is swaollen from water damage, heater is water damaged.... it should be illigal to run this place. I feel like i need to wash all my belongings in boiling water.
Sirilin K — Google review
All the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful! Location was super central to be by the bus station and 15 minute walk away from the main touristy areas. Rooms were ok, we were in 502, which is a separate house to the main one where you check in. No issues with that, apart from there was no tea or coffee available in this house. Tea and coffee is free all day and breakfast was £5 each for your stay so great value if you didn't mind walking to the other house. Rooms were good enough to just sleep after long and busy excursions. Towels were scratchy and one had a stain which put me off a bit. Bedsheet had rips but looks led visibly clean. Walls/doors were not soundproof. Overall, great place in terms of location and friendly service.
Jessica C — Google review
A group of us shared a room with multiple beds. We didn’t have a private bathroom and had to use the shared toilets and showers on the first and second floor. The room was nice and comfortable and did everything we needed it to do as a place to sleep in Reykjavík. It had a sink in the room which was really useful. The kitchen is well equipped with at least 3 sets of burners and private/free food fridges. But the kitchen and eating spaces feel a little grimy and not the cleanest. However the downfall of this guesthouse was the showers. Verging on gross. The first floor shower is heavily clogged. I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND ALL guests to bring shower shoes unless they want to stand in murky water pooling around their feet. I would shower for 15 seconds, turn off the water, wait for the water to drain and then repeat. The shower door was a mix of panels and a limp shower curtain that was difficult to slide, smelled gross, and didn’t provide good coverage. I was told the second floor shower was cleaner and unclogged by my friends and tried to use not those showers the next day. What blew my mind was the second floor shower was ALWAYS RUNNING?!? Literally. It can’t be turned off and is always running and I can’t imagine how much water it’s wasting. Second the lights on the second floor wouldn’t working. At night I wasn’t able to turn the light on to shower and had to reuse the gross first floor shower again. The next morning my friend tried to use the second floor shower and found he couldn’t turn the light OFF. These showers were so bad I elected to pay 1000 ISK to shower on the Laugavegur trail backcountry huts which were cleaner and nicer IMO than have to shower in this guesthouse again. But if you don’t need to shower, this guesthouse is solid and they were very friendly in holding our luggage on checkout day while we explored the city

I stayed at the Fosshotel Reykjavík while on my trip to Iceland for 4 nights. Our experience? Excellent. From the staff to the rooms to the buffet breakfast, everything was top notch. The best part? Bus stop #12 is just 50 meters walk which is one of the main stops for tours which makes it very easy. I would highly recommend staying at the hotel.

The hotel is really nice though the rooms are a bit small. We had a room with two twin beds. One floor lamps holds in place because a chair pushes against it. Nice bathroom, lots a cabinets to store thing. The floor wasn't clean when we got in. You need to walk a few minutes to get to the main tourist street. The hotel is right beside bus stop 12 for guided tours which is really convenient.

I had a truly wonderful stay at the Hilton Nordic Reykjavík. The highlight was an incredible massage that left me completely relaxed. The breakfast spread was delicious with a wide variety of options—though I accidentally grabbed the gluten-free bread once, everything else was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond with their kindness and attentiveness, making me feel very welcome throughout my visit. My room was comfortable and offered a beautiful view that made the stay even more special. Overall, an excellent experience—I would definitely return!

The hotel was nice and quiet. The room was clean had space for our 3 suitcases. Breakfast was good and had lots of choices. The restaurant was busy during dinner hours but did have a limited menu in the bar area with additional seating. Overall, nice stay. Location was decent but not in the heart of downtown - we drove into the city during the day.

Had a great stay at Hilton Reykjavik Nordica. Only about 1.5 miles from downtown, walking distance if you are able if not there is a bus stop out front and taxis are frequently available out front as well. The hotel staff were great. Our room had a great view, comfortable bed, hot shower. The price of the hotel for a two night stay was reasonable as well. Would recommend this hotel.

This was the 3rd stay at this hotel in 6 days. The last time our room was actually for handicapped people and I actually enjoyed that room. The biggest difference between this room and our current room was the difference in bathrooms. Since this last room was not for handicapped people, there was a tub/shower in the bathroom. The bathtub floor actually sits about 6 inches above the bathroom floor. If you don't realize this you run the risk of falling when you step out of the bathtub onto the floor. I perceive this a a high fall risk especially for older people with mobility problems. Check in was very easy . It took perhaps 3 minutes. The receptionist was knowledgeable and friendly. The room was somewhat spacious. It appears to be handicapp-accessible. There is a nice closet with ironing board, refrigerator, drawers, shelves, and a safe. Bathroom was immaculate with tub/shower as previously described. Towels were large and thick/luxurious. The electrical outlets were a located by the desk. I did not see any USB outlets so you will need to bring the appropriate chargers and cables for your devices. Definitely a luxurious air to this hotel. Staff are wonderful, and appear to have varying backgrounds. It's a nice international flavor. The wifi is ok. I did measure their wifi reception as follows: Upload 45 MBPS and download 50 MBPS in my room. There are few restaurants a short (few minutes walk) from the hotel. We rented a vehicle, and if you stay here you probably should rent your own vehicle. I definitely would stay here again if I were using Reykjavik as a home base to explore the nearby areas.

Incredible experience! Staff, cleanliness, proximity to city, everything was great. Breakfast was amazing with a lot of options. Gym/Spa are very convenient and have everything you need: gym equipment, sauna, steam room, yoga studio… I would definitely go back for a visit when I get the chance!

We went for the weekend brunch at VOX Brasserie, and it was excellent! The selection was huge, definitely one of the most extensive brunches in town and everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The atmosphere was warm and lively, perfect for a Saturday or Sunday treat. Service 4/5, food 5/5, and ambience 5/5. All you can eat and totally worth it. Highly recommended!

I was told this was one of the best hotels in Reykjavik by one of the tour guides and I totally agree! The breakfast buffet is amazing.I ate salmon everyday i was there. The spa is a must do! Even if you don't get the massage , the sauna and the floating pool is the best! I'm almost disappointed that I only got to use it once.

In the heart of Reykjavik. There is a walking tour you can take and they provide a map. The rooms are very comfy. The staff is amazing and informative. The showers were hot and the pressure was fantastic. The water… straight out of the tap… best water I have ever had and I am a water snob. But the restaurant…. Oh My GOODNESS!!! The best food! Tons of gluten free options—- even dessert!!! Delicious, fresh. Fantastic selection— even fresh sushi. This is definitely over the top!! Free parking in case you rent a car(which we did). Did I mention how yummy the food is? I forgot to take pictures until I was halfway done with my meal…

Center Hotels Plaza in Reykjavik is a modern and relaxed hotel offering streamlined rooms, a breakfast buffet, and a lobby bar. It's conveniently located for exploring downtown Reykjavik and the waterfront. The hotel provides easy access to outdoor adventures such as hiking in nearby hills and mountains during milder weather from June to August, as well as snowshoeing and winter hiking during colder months from September to May.
Locating is perfect for walking every wear. Breakfast was very nice. The room was very tight for 3 beds. It's nice to have a sink and mirror outside of the bathroom for others to get ready. The lobby was large and comfortable. The young man who checked us in was fantastic and very helpful. The front had great views but it was noisy from people out late at night gathering in the center.

Great location and service, and reasonably priced. But there's a catch - the rooms are tiny. Barely enough room to get into the shower. No space to have a suitcase open. Curtains let in light, and the rooms are noisy from the patrons above and in the hallway. Fine for a night maybe but I wouldn't want to spend more than that here.

We were greeted with smiles and helpfulness. Our room 602 was opened up for us at 10 am which was amazing! 602 is a large corner room with wonderful views in each direction. All the staff were great throughout our stay. The hotel is clean comfortable and is in a great location. Thanks for the welcome drinks and we look forward to our next stay next week.

We stayed at Center Hotels Plaza in their best room on the top 8th floor, which came with rooftop balcony access and a breathtaking view of Reykjavík city. It truly made our Iceland trip feel special. A big shoutout to RONJA at the front desk - her cheerful personality and warm hospitality made our stay extra memorable. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city, amidst all the hustle and bustle. With countless eateries around and most main excursion pick-up points just a short walk away, the location is absolutely 10/10 - especially for first-time visitors to Iceland. Highly recommend for anyone looking for convenience, comfort, and a memorable experience in Reykjavík! Ps. They also have an attached Gelato shop and departmental store!

We have a different experience with this hotel from the time we checked in, there were two young women at the counter and neither one says welcome or hello not even a smile. When you travel so far away to get to Iceland a nice smile would be nice and the cost to stay in the hotel is not even worth a 3star. The building looks nice outside. Location is great since it is truly the center of all and walking distance to everywhere and near the bus station. Breakfast is generous although menu is the same everyday considering food is very expensive. The staff in the breakfast area are all hard working and making sure food is replenished. As others mentioned shower area is so tiny I am petite and can’t barely move around. The flooring of the unit is dirty. When we checked in we were asked to note if we want daily cleaning and I opted for daily. Of course the first day no cleaning, the second day they fixed the bed and replaced towel but floors were not cleaned. The phone to call front desk is useless.
Hedi C — Google review
Very clean . The free continental breakfast was small but always fresh and the staff cared enough to scrub the coffee pot so the coffee was good. So above average staff, especially the maids. The location was perfect to see all the stuff in downtown. You are surrounded by resteraunts, clubs, and shops. However, expect the rooms to be small and you'll need to play some music when you're in the bathroom. The bathroom doors are short and see through so no privacy. Excellent shower pressure. Hard beds but not awful. The worst thing is that instead of sheets and blankets, the bed had a bottom sheet and duvets. I felt short sheeted all the time and I'm a short person. Still, I'd stay here again without hesitation. I'd bring a topsheet and blanket for the bed though
Michael M — Google review
Nice staff at reception, set the tone for a great stay . Comfortable and good sized room with a mini fridge which was handy. I slept well which helped me get over jet lag. Well located - easy walk to restaurants and shopping street as well as central attractions.
Megan R — Google review
Great stay, centrally located, definitely request a quiet room Positives: The hotel is very centrally located and within easy walking distance of BSI and attractions around Reykjavik, with a tour bus pickup within a few minutes walk. The rooms were very clean, had good water pressure from the showers, cold and clear-tasting water from the tap, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel also has storage lockers for bags before check-in/after check-out, which was very helpful, and a good complimentary breakfast with direct booking. Negatives/things to note: The hotel is very centrally located, which apparently means there is a loud karaoke bar across the plaza until at least 1am (4:30am on weekends), offset by skateboarding much of the day. I would recommend specifically requesting a quieter room that does not face the plaza (and the front desk staff was very helpful with getting us moved partway through our stay). The hotel also does not have air conditioning (as seems standard for accommodations in Iceland), but the windows a bit open for some cooling. The blackout curtains are good, but may take some finessing to get them to completely cover the windows if you're visiting during summer and really need them (as opposed to our September stay with a more standard day/night cycle).

The hotel also provides easy access to the urban beach Nautholsvik with its artificial hot spring.
Wonderful hotel. Great customer service. The restaurant has amazing food. Unbelievable buffet-style breakfast and dinner. I loved everything about this place. The pool and the spa are great amenities. There is an extra cost, but well worth it. There is also a small room with fitness equipment. It is nothing extraordinary, but it has all the equipment one may need. Bikes and electric scooters are right in front of the entrance to the hotel and are available for rent. You might need to take a taxi which is easy to get, to go downtown Reykjavik, but for those who like to walk, it is not more than a 20 to 30-minute walk to most attractions. I had a great experience. Highly recommend.

Before taking a business trip to Iceland I needed to find a hotel. This hotel by looking at the pictures seemed to be good, especially when they are so expensive as they are per night. When I came there and got my keycard to the room, I reacted on how the state of the room was. Not only was the room dated, but it was shabby, worn out and in need of renovation. Bathroom was very small. Found also pubic hairs here and there in the bathroom, disgusting!!. To make things worse, if the light was off, the wall socket is also turned off. As my phone battery was low, because of this my wakeup alarm was not active/working. I almost lost my return flight because of this. All in all, not happy with this hotel and the room. If the price was 50% off what I paid, maybe.. but for the price I paid, I would not use this hotel again.

We stayed here mid October 2025. Hotel is clean, spacious & very welcoming with plenty of parking. The staff were very helpful & upgrade our room for free. The spa was nice & quiet when we were there, so good to relax after exploring iceland. We got from the al a carte menu in the restaurant, so the choice was somewhat limited, but the food was nice. Perfect place to stay at the end of your Iceland trip before going to the airport the next day.

We ended up here due to our cancelled flight, and we were totally happy about it. A great location – away from the crowds, about a 15-minute walk to the city centre, and near a small airport with stylish aircraft. The restaurant, breakfast, and service were also at a pleasant level. As a vegetarian, I didn’t go hungry either :) The room had everything you'd need, including kettle/coffee machine. There’s a parking lot right in front of the hotel, so it could be a great place to stay during my next visit.
Tanya H — Google review
If you are considering this hotel, get it. It has easy parking, it’s in a side street so it’s easy to pull in and out and get to an intersection with a light, there is a gas station and corner store 2 minutes away, the rooms are quiet and you get to see the domestic charter planes take off. There is also a breakfast buffet for a fee and a spa for a fee. I recommend both but both will run you about $50 a day.
Breanna B — Google review
If you want in the city and on the Airport, then this is the place to be. If you are seeking a romantic hideaway, do not go here. The rooms are tiny. And old... I think not updated since 1996... Same for the furniture. The beds are very 'springy', just took a shower.. it is a tiny shower. Water is hot, soap smells nice. Lastly, if you read over it like I did, you need to pay for the pool a generous amount of money to get in.

Nestled in the heart of Reykjavik, Storm Hotel By Keahotels is a contemporary haven that perfectly blends style and comfort. With its Scandinavian-inspired rooms, this hotel offers a relaxed atmosphere ideal for travelers seeking both convenience and charm. Guests can enjoy a delightful free breakfast buffet to kickstart their day before exploring nearby attractions like the iconic Hallgrimskirkja Church and the stunning Sun Voyager Sculpture, both within walking distance.
The Storm Hotel is great. Super clean. Delicious breakfast and very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They have a great Happy Hour. The Icelandic draft beer is really good. The housekeeping staff was also wonderful. I would definitely recommend them. Very centrally located as well. We were able to walk all over and see all the sites.

I only stayed in this hotel for one night before going out into Iceland. This is definitely a good hotel to stay in for that purpose, and a lot of other people do so. It has very minimalist architecture. The bathroom was very nice although the shower didn't even have a door which was odd but kind of cool. Over all a pretty nice stay.

Great hospitality and rooms. Compared to other hotels this one has a decent price, great location, good rooms and a decent variety of breakfast. Honorable mention to Yvona for being a very kind, professional and accommodating staff that helped us with several things.

We chose this hotel based on reviews, and were not disappointed! Since we arrived around noon, they gave us a room right away! The reception area is clean and welcoming. The room was your typical European-sized, with a small but sufficient en-suite. The breakfast buffet was good, and was constantly replenished, because there were groups of cruise passengers staying over. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a 5 minute walk from the Main Street, but this means there is less street noise. It was on the warmer side during our stay, so we needed to keep our windows open during the night- hence listening to the sound of passing vehicles. All the tour buses do stop in front of the hotel, so, noise begins pretty early in the morning! We lucked out with a free parking spot behind the hotel for our entire stay. A definite recommend!
S S — Google review
A decent hotel within walking distance to the city center. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices & the room was spotlessly clean. They have limited onsite parking which is only enough for less than 10 cars. The only downside was the relatively small room.

Love storm hotel so so much. Stayed here for 2 nights and it was the perfect place to stay. The staff was absolutely amazing. So inviting and friendly. They gave us a free drink for our wedding anniversary celebration and we ended up being at the bar for awhile talking to the staff about life and tattoos. We absolutely loved everyone working front desk and bar. They made our first few days absolutely amazing! Short walk to downtown Reykjavík! Or you can take the bus and one of the stops is RIGHT outside the front door of the hotel. Super convenient The rooms are cozy and super clean. GAH AND THE SHOWER!!!! Super hot water, very clean bathroom, it made me feel like I was living the life of luxury. Breakfast in the morning was GREAT! My favorite thing to eat was the chia seed pudding with mango. So so good. Overall, everything was fantastic. Storm hotel has been so great! Me and my husband will most definitely be returning! I miss it there already and we just left the hotel a few hours ago!

Alda Hotel Reykjavik is a chic 4-star hotel located on the bustling Laugavegur street, offering refined accommodations and modern amenities. Its convenient location allows easy access to popular attractions like Hallgrimskirkja Church and the Icelandic Cabinet offices. The Brass Kitchen and Bar offers a daily Happy Hour, while Barber provides grooming services for guests.
We really just had the best experience here! Which was great because we stayed for three nights. This location could not beat. We were able to walk everywhere! There is a cheap parking garage about a block and a half away. Which we found to be very, very convenient. The hotel staff was super friendly, and very accommodating. They have a great breakfast buffet in the morning, too! Our only real complaint is that our room was in the front of the building, and on Saturday and Sunday night It was loud until about 3 AM outside. You can hear every conversation going on. The tattoo parlor across the street also blasts music during the day time hours. The room gets pretty hot, so you really have to leave the windows open. Other than that, we loved it. The room was clean, spacious and exactly what we needed. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!

The staff is SO friendly! The beds are super comfy. Our room very clean and very quiet. The shower had great pressure. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

We had a good stay at Alda Hotel in Reykjavik. The location is excellent, it’s walkable to a lot of famous and interesting sites of the city with lots of restaurants and shops. The rooms are clean and well maintained (room 214 could benefit from more stronger shower water pressure, but the sink and toilet were ok). L’Occitane bath amenities. Staff were friendly and willing to help. They provided a cellphone for free because their rooms don’t have landline, you can make free local calls. We included the breakfast buffet with our stay, it was ok but would be better if they change some of the offerings each day. The hotel has a restaurant (Brass), a barbershop, a Starbucks, a gym, and a sauna. There’s free street parking from 9p-9a and there’s a nearby pay parking garage (pay street parking is costlier vs garage if outside the free times). We would consider to stay again at Alda Hotel if we go back to Iceland.

Great hotel tucked in the heart of tourist Reykjavik. Centrally located and helpful staff with suggestions or guidance. Service was amazing and the staff were so helpful. There's a breakfast buffet in the morning with a great variety of foods that will set you up nicely for your day ahead. Rooms are moderately sized with basic amenities. There's a desk and chair in one corner by the bed and a nightstand in the other. Hanging wardrobe space is included. The restroom is a bit small and cramped, but it does provide enough room to do what is needed when the shower is folded inwards. They offer a gym, spa/sauna, and a hot tub for guests as well.

I only wish that I could come back and stay sooner ☺️

The location is great if you're looking to be in the center of town. It's also located near on of the finest restaurants in Reykjavik. The service was excellent when we checked in. They were helpful, accommodating and even gave a free upgrade to the room. On check out they were disorganized, had incorrect items on the bill and were deeply skeptical when I disputed those charges. We booked a special rate which included dinner at Brass restaurant. There seemed to be no system in place for this dinner being included. When we went to dinner there was a lot of confusion about it among the restaurant staff. This continued when we were checking out. It also took quite a bit of time to get the receipts printed. I had to get multiples since they only printed the city tax receipt at first. The hotel was filled with American retirees who took over as much common area as possible when they were preparing to go out to their various tours for the day. Just be aware that at certain times it is lousy with my blundering, unaware, vaguely rude, loud and in the way fellow citizens. The rooms were adequate. The bed was mushy. The bathroom was ok but slightly grungy. The shower door leaked all over the floor. And the water temperature was difficult to adjust. Not matter how much I tried I could not find a decent temperature. It seemed to have 2 settings, ice cold or almost scalding. The value was good with the included dinner. The walls are paper thin in the old building, so you hear everything. And housekeeping starts early, I saw the carts out and the housekeepers at 7AM.
Chris D — Google review
Excellent, friendly staff, good location within walking distance of most attractions and tourist shopping. It was clean. The room was very small, small bathroom, tiny gym and an even smaller sauna, which can fit maybe 2 people. The hot tub is small and outside by a parking lot, which was disappointing.

A beautiful and warm stay at the end of our Iceland trip! Alda Hotel is perfectly located along a charming shopping street in Reykjavik. Our room was incredibly spacious with a cute little balcony that made the space feel even more special. The bathroom was large and spotless, and one of my favorite features was the clever entryway setup — it had a bench where I could comfortably sit to put on my shoes or organize my luggage, plus plenty of shelves above and below for storage. A clothes rack right next to it made unpacking so much easier. The bed was super comfortable and gave us the best night’s sleep. But what truly made this stay memorable was the front desk team — they welcomed us with such bright, genuine smiles. After days of encountering mostly reserved or slightly grumpy locals, their warmth was a heartwarming surprise. It was the perfect final touch to our Iceland adventure. 💫

What a cool hotel! This was the first place I stayed in Iceland and I loved it. The rooms were really comfortable, and I loved the classic style of this hotel in the communal spaces. Parking was a little tricky but doable. The location is very central and it was easy to walk to lots of interesting places, including an incredible bakery in the morning for pastries and coffee. The staff were excellent and made me feel very welcomed to Reykjavik. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

This was a perfect spot for the day we arrived. It was reasonably comfortable. The service was impeccable. Gabriella was excellent and made me wish we had another night to spend there. We booked a junior suite, which was fine. Spacious by the standards in Iceland. But the bathroom was a little small and awkward. The breakfast was excellent.

Great place to stay if you enjoy quirky and unique places to stay- especially if you enjoy art! The decor was inviting and intriguing. They’ve made a modest building feel luxurious. The bar and library are cozy places to hang out with dark furnishings, leather chairs to lounge in, and books to peruse. The bartender was fun to chat with and made some good cocktails. Room was not huge but very thoughtful. You can tell this is perhaps and older hotel that is being repurposed into a new one.

Hotel is in a quiet residential area but with walking distance to shopping and restaurant areas. The room was clean, comfortable and facilities were functioning well. Gabriela in the reception desk was particularly helpful, effective and professional. She recommended places of interest to us , helped us to book tickets and taxi as needed. We had a comfortable stay.

This is a gem. The artwork is everywhere and fantastic. The hotel itself is very comfortable, with lots of common space to lounge. The breakfast is excellent. It's very quiet, on a neighborhood street, yet less than 10 minutes to walk to many restaurants and the main sights of the city.
Dave B — Google review
Well located, just a short walk to town, with some limited parking available and included. The rooms are dated but comfortable. For the very high price charged i would have expected alot more from the rooms. The curtains don't cover the window completely, and the "balcony" is more like a fire escape with no privacy outside your room. However the communal areas (the lobby, breakfast room and beautiful library) are very nicely done. Breakfast was excellent. Service was also very good with very friendly staff, and they accomodated our needs which was much appreciated. Overall, having stayed in hotels all over Iceland, this is a nice place but very overpriced.

The website pictures do not do this beautiful hotel enough justice. Gabriella made sure we did not have to lift a finger and made us feel incredibly welcomed as our first stop in Reykjavik. We loved her dedication, hospitality, and she had incredible recommendations for restaurants and bars around the area. The beds were made in the traditional Scandinavian style and incredibly cozy. We had such an amazing time we've added another stay in our schedule before we leave.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Rooms were very big - we had 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen and a bathroom. It is also super close to the BSI (bus station) - about a 10 min walk. Host was super friendly and helpful and lives on site. Best part was the bathroom had heated floors

This suited us perfectly for a three night stay. The building looks great from the outside. The room was a little quirky but clean and functional. Beds were comfortable and if you like a cheeky afternoon nap (like me) the sofa is also comfortable. Easy to check in and out. No hassle or fuss.

Overall it's quite good, good location, self check in with hanged information about your room number and instructions. Very small kitchenette, barely can do something to eat, missing rag for wiping, there only kitchen paper roll, two toilets but in that one with bathtub.

Our family stayed in a 3-bed apartment and it was absolutely perfect for us. Could not have asked for better setup for our group. The room and bathrooms were very clean, high ceilings, windows that could be opened to let crisp air in, quiet residential neighborhood, and within walking distance to downtown. We had a kitchenette which is very helpful when trying to save some money by not eating every meal out.

The pics don't really match the property's appearance, there's a fancy room in the pics that only the host can use. All the rooms are downstairs, so it feels odd, like being in a basement, and there's noise from the street,I gotta tell you, I came here after checking out the pics, but I was sorta let down. Compared to other hotels, the room you can book at this price would be a bit bigger and more cozy. And the hotel is even under renovation, and the passageway is stacked with building materials

Lovely place to stay for the night or two! The room was small, but very nice and cozy. We had a kettle with little tea bags, coffe and milk. Comfortable bed. It was really warm and clean. We also had a lot of towels, hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel and some extra blankets. The area where the guesthouse is located is quiet and with little traffic. It is also possible to park your car for free along the street. Location is fantastic, just a 5 minute walk from the center of Reykjavik. Walking distance to all the attractions. Owner was really nice and kind. I’d stay again and would definitely recommend to others.

Very restful start to our trip! We were able to self check in early to sleep for a few hrs after our overnight flight. Incredibly clean. Very comfy beds, hot shower and coffee available in our room. Cute neighborhood. Free street parking. Great location with everything in walking distance. Would stay here again in an instant.

Holiday apartment rental
Alfred's Apartments is a centrally located accommodation in Reykjavik, just steps away from Laugavegur and a short walk from Hallgrimskirkja. The property offers a terrace with great views and amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, express check-in/out, and free newspapers in the lobby. Guests appreciate the convenient access to public transport and nearby attractions like Harpa and Reykjavik Harbour.
We stayed at the apartment with the rooftop hot tub and loved every minute of it. The apartment was well stocked with towels (even 2 bath robes), soaps, and kitchen cooking essentials including: pots, pans, dishes, kettle, oils and basic spices. There was also plenty of bedding and pillows for the main bed, pullout couch, and pullout single chair/bed upstairs. The hot tub was an amazing feature to relax after each day and was clean and well maintained. There was a dishwasher and washer/dryer. The apartment is located within walking distance to everything you want in the city while still being quiet and comfortable. The management was very responsive and answered all my questions quickly and was on site as soon as we arrived to welcome us to the apartment. They even accommodated our early arrival and later checkout. The only comment for improvement would be that there are no blackout curtains on the many windows, only darkening shades. I booked directly through their website and could not have been happier with the service.

Located in the very center of Reykjavik, you can find everything close to it, the supermarket is just few steps away, and all kinds of stores, too. The man who was taking care of the place was very kind and polite. Inside was super warm and cozy. My only negative experience about the place was the smell of the water while I was showering. But I guess it is normal for Iceland, considering that the hot water comes from the geysers. 🤷‍♂️ I will finish my review recommending this place!

We love Alfred's apartments so very much! Most importantly- they are dog friendly and that means we can travel with all members of our family :) Rooms are always so clean, it is always so quiet, owner always so friendly. We have stayed in both locations multiple times and have enjoyed every stay. Maybe only complaint would be that rooms are always so hot 😂
Sirilin K — Google review
The location is unbeatable, there is absolutely no debate whatsoever about that. The rooms and showers are just alright. They need a bit of an update. It seems to me there is a bit of a bait and switch going on with the types of rooms. A 3 person room is really a 2. A 4 person is really a 3. Just seems weird they are doing that. Saying that the location is amazing, so dealing with small is fine.

Great location, clean room with friendly staff. Well equipped room, would definitely recommend as it was good value for money!!

Perfect location, friendly owner, very easy seamless booking and check in/out. Laundry facilities available. They have thought of everything you could need or want for an apartment stay in Reykjavik. Only stayed 2 nights however could have comfortably stayed longer and will definetly be back next time I find myself in Iceland.

This place was perfect for our 4 nights in Reykjavik. The apartment was spotless, appeared new. The location could not be better, all necessities within 5 minutes. Location very handy to tour bus origins, many restaurants very close, laundry on premises. Manager was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed on 1st floor facing street. Evening noise was noticeable but dissipated by 10 pm. Stay in a rear apartment if you can get it, but stay at Alfred's regardless. You well not regret.

I liked the unit because it was clean and modern. It’s perfect for solo travelers and couples. The location is great and the apartment is easy to find. The only downside is that you can hear foot steps from your upstairs neighbor but it was never a problem. I would stay again. Thanks again!

Heimaleiga offers a range of comfortable and modern apartments in Reykjavik, with convenient amenities such as free WiFi, a lift, and full-day security. The properties boast city views and are located within walking distance to popular attractions like Solfar Sun Voyager and Hallgrimskirkja Church. Family-friendly features include a children's playground, making it suitable for travelers with kids.
We had a great time, the self check-in service was very convenient for our midnight arrival and early departure. Online communication was flawless and on a very high level. Thank you guys for making our family stay in Iceland unforgettable!
Dimka D — Google review
Avoid this company — You will not get the apartment you book and the management company Heimaleiga will not help you when you need it. We were not given the apartment we booked (a “deluxe double studio”) and the management company, Heimaleiga, was unable to put us in the proper apartment or find a suitable replacement property. Instead we slept in a smelly basement apartment. What we booked: a light-filled ground floor apartment with a large living room, kitchen, and shower. What we got: a small, smelly basement studio apartment with no shower (just a large tub with a hand shower that sprayed water everywhere), signs of water damage and possible mold, and a tiny efficiency kitchen. You can hear noise from the unit upstairs and the apartment is right on the street, so you’ll also hear plenty of traffic and passers-by. The management company. Heimaleiga, acknowledged that we were not in the right apartment, but was unable to put us in the proper apartment or find a suitable replacement property. Their solution to the issue was to offer us complimentary late checkout, but we didn’t want to stay in that smelly basement a minute longer than we had to.

We used Heimaleiga for our one week trip to Iceland. We were happy with the location and the accommodation, everything you needed for a week was there - easier check-in and check-out, clean conditions at the house.Helpful customer service 24 hours. We loved it!

Frost Apartments by Heimaleiga – Cozy, Clean, Affordable, and Perfectly Located! When we travel, we usually stay either in 5-star hotels or at our own flats. This time, I decided to make a change and booked a studio for 2 at Frost Apartments by Heimaleiga. I instantly fell in love with the photos but was a little nervous we might not like it in reality. However, we loved the location, the building, the surroundings, and the flat the moment we arrived! Location: Amazing spot. Reykjavík is already a compact city, but this location made everything even more accessible. There’s a supermarket just down the road, some lovely shops, and even a beauty salon downstairs (I went there – much needed. Not the best place I’ve ever had my nails done, but if you need a quick fix, I definitely recommend it). Cleanliness: Super clean and cozy studio. It’s small but very comfy and modern. I’d read a review about the sink being tiny – and yep, it really is. The guy was rudely complaining but, to be fair, he had a point. My tip? Just lean closer when washing your face or brushing your teeth – it’s easier from one side, trust me, haha. A smaller tap might be a great future fix, but it honestly didn’t bother us much. Space & Storage: The studio is small but feels surprisingly spacious. There are drawers and storage solutions everywhere – bedside tables, under-bed drawer, shelves, hooks, hangers, you name it. Bathroom & Kitchen: Bathroom was super clean. The kitchen was tiny but cute and very functional – loved the small oven and even a mini dishwasher hidden in the drawer! All the kitchenware was spotless and modern too. Service, Extras & Atmosphere: We loved everything about this place. The staff were amazing – super helpful and kind. If you ever feel like doing a deep clean but don’t want to invite a cleaner, you can actually borrow cleaning appliances from the building – very convenient! Affordability: For what it offers, the price was amazing. We stayed for 8 days, and it felt like such a steal given the quality, location, and comfort. A Little Noise: The last two days we had a noisy neighbor who played the same song on repeat from 8–10 am, but we weren’t home much so it didn’t bother us too badly. Worst case, just knock and politely ask them to turn it down! Bonus Tips: Iceland is generally super safe and the people are kind and friendly. Some of our fave spots to eat: Íslenski barinn and Grillmarkaðurinn (Grillmarket). Also check out Perlan Museum – great atmosphere, good meals, coffee, and an amazing view for breakfast/lunch. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions or want more recommendations!

I had one of the worst experiences staying at a hotel. Firstly, you pay a very premium price and second you get a lot of miscommunication. I was feeling really unwell after traveling for a week around Iceland. I was looking forward to have a very nice quiet couple of days and all I wanted to do was to watch Netflix and relax. As soon as I got into the apartment the TV wasn't working, I immediatelly called their customer service and I was told the TV wasn't working and the owner of the property had been notified. Nothing could be done I was told! I told them about my situation and said even though it might be a very simple matter, for me a TV was all I wanted. I was paying a very expensive accomodation and if they promissed a working TV they should have been able to provide it. My biggest frustration was the fact that I told them if the TV couldn't be fixed I would be happy to move to a hotel across the road - I didn't hear back from them on that day. Next day I called, emailed...and all they could "do" was to apologise! My frustration is that they knew the TV wasn't working and they didn't let me know. They took away my right of choice. The whole communication was terrible and everytime someone knew would come back to me. If you can, please do avoid staying here. There are other hotels on the same street with better facilities.

After our pleasant day in Tyr Apartments in the heart of downtown Reykjavik I can only say positive things about the apartment! It was well equipped and it matched exactly what we have been expecting from the pictures. The stuff, their customer service team was doing everything they possible could to give us right instructions, provide useful information and ensure our stay was enjoyable.

Good - location on the high street Bad - 4 flights of stairs not advertised - Shared Stairwell doesn’t get cleaned, littered. - Cold and drafty in winter - No air extraction, any cooking leaves place smelling of food (bacon) - Radiators not working, reported it, promised a maintenance visit, ended up bleeding radiators our selves after no one turned up. - Heating system requires all radiators to be on, makes smallest bedroom unbearably hot and furthered radiators barely get warm. - Think twice about visiting in winter - Advertised as refurbished, in reality very tired and ‘lived in’ - Left valuable item in apartment on check-out day, realised after checking out and contracted host, was told cleaners have placed in cleaning room. Questioned if it was safe, told they wouldn’t be responsible for it, went back a few days later which was coordinated with host (we were staying an hour away) and unable to locate said item, host not very helpful and left without item… various messages to complain.. they then found item after I’d left to fly home.. cost me €70 to get it shipped back. Absolute joke of customer service. - I would avoid this place - over priced and run down.

Sand Hotel by Keahotels is a chic boutique hotel located in a former townhouse, offering stylish accommodations and a laid-back bistro. Tucked away behind an unassuming door and courtyard, the hotel is situated on lively Laugavegur, surrounded by vintage stores, coffee shops, boutiques, museums, and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable yet understated, featuring Duxiana duvets and pillows, heated bathroom floors, Soley Organic products, modern furniture and art.
The Sand Hotel is located on the main pedestrian street (though on a very commercial section), so it's an excellent location for exploring the city center on foot. For those arriving by car, there's a back entrance that's convenient for unloading luggage and then finding parking on nearby streets or in a few parking areas a short distance away (always for a fee). The hotel is comfortable. Our room was a Standard Double Room, and it was nice and well-equipped, although very small. The breakfast was high quality, though with little variety (and if you want a coffee different from the caraffe one, you have to pay for it, which is not super nice).

Excellent stay at this hotel for the week. We had the Queen size room which was comfortable for two. Good shower. We did ask for a fan to keep us cooler at night time even with the windows opened in late August. The breakfast was very useful, fresh, and tasty. This is in the heart of the very popular pedestrian area. So many souvenir shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, and dessert spots all around. A few blocks from the famous Church and Rainbow street. So close! A few blocks down is the marina. You get excellent snapshot photos of it with buildings and cars if you walk just a few steps out of the hotel, on the corners. There is a walk from where the shuttle spot is to meet for tours and from the airport (we had to lug our heavy luggage up the steep streets to get to the hotel, but it was worth it), but there are so many taxis and taxi spots right out of the hotel as well if you wanted to use one. The hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet is wonderful, it is close to the marina with many areas of interest including the music hall and many desired spots. Exceptional stay and highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed for a night in September, 2025. The room was great, the staff was great, and the breakfast buffet was great - the whole experience exceeded our expectations. It's centrally located in the heart of Reykjavik. Parking was tricky only because I didn't properly prepare, but we ended up parking in a P3 lot near the Opera house - just a short walk away, and that worked out well. It's a short walk to many good restaurants, coffee shops, etc. I will definitely come here again on the next trip to Iceland.

Spent last night there . Location , good , with walking distance to all attraction. Rooms are really small , but modern . Breakfast was decent , you will find something to eat :-). For me bed was too soft and that plastic sheet on it makes you sweaty during night . Second thing , there has to be somewhere a club because during late night you can hear disco music . It is not that loud but if have light sleep you will hear it .

Beautiful hotel in very central location, nice staff, and very importantly, a wonderful breakfast buffet with lots of delicious choices. Parenthetically, the bakery next door releases through much of the day the most tempting smells from freshly evolving goods. PS: Parking is a challenge.

We stayed here two of our five nights in Iceland. Iceland is expensive but this hotel was worth the price! The room was wonderful with a nice view of the pedestrian only street below. The bathroom was spectacular with a terrific rainfall shower - mimicking the awesome Iceland waterfalls. Our room was just as advertised - the Marshall Bluetooth speaker sounded great. The included breakfast was delicious - with ginger shots! We would stay here again!

Wonderful boutique hotel in the middle of the city. Front of the hotel is right on the main pedestrian only shopping street. The room is small but has all the amenities you need to have a comfortable stay. They also have a small gym. Nothing fancy but enough for a quick work out. The highlight is their continental breakfast. Their pastries are top notch (there is a pastry shop next door which I believe is connected to the hotel.) They don't have on site parking but you shouldn't have problem finding street parking spaces.

We spent a night in May 2025 prior to collecting our campervan, seeking rest and exploration before embarking on our adventure. It proved to be an excellent beginning to our Icelandic getaway. Conveniently situated in the heart of a downtown pedestrian zone. Note that parking is unavailable, although taxis can collect passengers at the rear entrance. The rooms were exceptionally clean and charming. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Additionally, there is a recommended dining establishment adjacent to the hotel. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the heart of Reykjavik, Hótel Klettur is a modern haven that perfectly balances comfort and convenience. With 86 well-appointed rooms, many offering stunning views of the bay and some featuring charming balconies, this hotel caters to families seeking an affordable yet enjoyable stay. Just a short stroll from the vibrant Laugavegur Shopping Street and close to local dining options, guests can easily immerse themselves in the city's lively atmosphere.
Nice hotel with good elevators in a prime location. The room was simple, but clean. The bathroom had a constant sulfur smell (which isn’t uncommon), but was otherwise OK. WiFi worked flawlessly, and breakfast was fairly standard (that is to say, just fine). Free parking in the garage is nice, but beware that the garage door placement is awkward when leaving and requires some precise maneuvering. For staying two days here we were perfectly happy.

Pretty nice hotel in a great area of Reykjavik. Close to town, close to the beach, and good markets nearby. The room was quiet and thoughtfully designed with very comfortable beds. The room and hotel was very clean and felt very well taken care of. The staff was friendly and even though we didn’t get the breakfast it smelled amazing. I would definitely stay here again. Simple and easy.
Cameron V — Google review
This Hotel should be considered a three star hotel. The rooms are small, blankets are small. Service has its ups and downs. First, the beds are really single beds pushed together with a foam piece in the middle. This makes it uncomfortable to sleep in the middle or snuggle up with your significant other. The TV is there for looks. Their is no service for the TVs so don't try using them. I waited a week for them to get around to checking on them but it wasn't done before I checkout a week after asking. Elevators are slow. And since the hotel is a remodel of multiple buildings combined together you have little steps between halls. They are clearly marked but does make it difficult to roll suitcases between elevators and rooms. The hotel is surrounded by construction. This was not disclosed to us beforehand. I know this isn't the hotels fault but notice might have been nice. The best service was for the breakfast but it too was nothing to be excited about. There was no change in breakfast each day but atleast it was plentiful. This hotel seems to be working with tour groups. Many others I talked with said if it wasn't for their tour group, they would not be there. It shows.

Great hotel. Loved to location because it was on the edge of downtown. The surrounding area was quiet, and the rooms were super sound proof! You couldn't hear anyone unless they were right outside the door. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was decent and included. Got free parking by booking through the site. This was to a connected underground garage. It was a little hard to maneuver in. My only wish is for the shower to be a little cleaner.

Very nice place to stay. Its close to the main area of town. I definitely appreciated the luggage room, which made it easy for us to go explore before check-in without having to drag our luggage along with us! The bar was also nice and the drinks were pretty affordable🍸

We stayed here both at the beginning and end of our trip, and each time we were greeted with warm hospitality. On our first visit, the receptionist kindly recommended a nearby restaurant just before it closed, ensuring we had a great meal. At the end of our trip, during an early morning departure, they thoughtfully provided muffins and coffee for breakfast. It was a lovely experience on both occasions!

Stayed three nights here in two different rooms. Based on the first room I would have rated this hotel with 3 stars (it was really hot even with the floor heat turned off and the shower was dingy and weak). Based on the second room (which had a radiator we could turn off and a great bathroom/shower) I would have rated it with 5, so I settled on 4. Staff were very friendly and the luggage room, to store your luggage before check-in or after check-out was great. They have maps at the front desk with local attractions in the surrounding area. It is centrally located and we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. Would be tough if you have a car, as there is no designated parking for guests. Breakfast buffet was certainly adequate but nothing special.

Midgardur by Center Hotels is a modern hotel located on Reykjavik's main shopping street, Laugavegur. It offers functional rooms with minibars, free Wi-Fi, and a rejuvenating spa. The hotel's restaurant serves fantastic Icelandic dishes, and there is also an on-site bar for guests to enjoy. The property is conveniently situated close to Reykjavik Domestic Airport and Hallgrimskirkja church.
This review is long overdue. My fiancée and I stayed here a couple of nights after we got engaged during our second trip to Iceland in January 2024. The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming, particularly Alba, who congratulated us and sent a small dessert and personalized hand-written note up to the room! We have since been back to Midgardur by Center Hotels two additional times (including once with our parents), and are currently booked for our fourth visit this upcoming December. Alba has been there to welcome us each and every time with a big smile and tons of warmth and enthusiasm. The rooms are modern, comfy, quiet, and sparkling clean. The hot tubs are a nice extra perk if you spring for them. We also appreciate the ample free parking (either in the hotel lot or nearby), as well as the proximity to shopping and food. Everything is an easy walking distance. European hotels are intrinsically smaller than American hotels but Midgardur's hotel rooms provide plenty of space for clothes and super comfy beds. We have stayed at another hotel in Reykjavik which was actually uncomfortably small, and that's how we found Midgardur.
Michael F — Google review
The room, and bathroom were cramped, and there was virtually nowhere to hang your clothes, or even open your bag. But it was clean, tidy, the beds were comfortable, and front desk service superb. Location was ok, a long walk to the major attractions, right at the end of Laugavegur but with numerous places to eat and shop right outside, and a sensational bakery just down the street. The free parking out the back was filled before we arrived, but the front desk had a great map showing all the nearby free parking spots. There’s a small spa downstairs, but it costs extra, a lot extra to access it. However the best thing about this hotel was the restaurant, which had great food and great service, The set menu was an absolute bargain for Iceland, and the quality of the food and service was exceptional. So good, we ate here twice.

Amazing hotel, perfect location and easy access to everywhere needed. There is also a bus stop outside that connects you to a lot of the external tour pick ups which is really handy. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would 100% stay here again.

Hotel is in a really good location to explore Reykjavik. Rooms are spacious and the heating works really well. We arrived at 5pm and managed to get the last free parking spaces, so could do with more. Downside is there was construction directly outside of our window, but this stopped by 6pm. Also the windows let the cold in quite a bit.

Center Hotels Arnarhvoll is a modern and stylish hotel located in central Reykjavik, offering stunning views of the bay and mountains. The hotel features a sauna, rooftop restaurant and bar with panoramic city views, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary breakfast. Its Scandinavian design extends from the lobby to the guest rooms. Guests can enjoy easy access to attractions like The Harpa concert hall and the Pint-sized Icelandic Punk Offbeat Museum.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at CenterHotel Arnarhvoll in Reykjavík! 🌟 From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, with thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of fresh and tasty options to start the day right. We also loved the spa, the perfect spot to relax after exploring the city. Every detail from the service to the little attentions was handled with care. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Reykjavík. Highly recommended!
Jeremy T — Google review
We booked several rooms at Center Hotels Arnarhvoll for a weekend stay in June, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations – especially considering the premium price point. While the location is central and convenient, the property is not directly waterfront as some photos may suggest. The rooms themselves varied significantly – most were small to modest in size, with noticeable differences in quality and maintenance across the rooms. Bathrooms were particularly cramped, and some of our guests felt the accommodations were more functional than comfortable. While it’s common to say “you’re only sleeping there,” a hotel should still provide a restful, enjoyable experience – and that wasn’t consistently the case here. There are some upsides: the rooftop restaurant offers fantastic views of Reykjavik, and both food and drinks were good. The small spa area is a nice touch, but overall facilities feel a bit dated. This is a solid 3-star property – no more, no less. Where the stay truly fell short was in the handling of guest service. One/two staff members were very friendly and helpful, but the overall front desk experience was uneven. A major issue arose at check-in, where a dispute over the lack of a credit card (for one couple among 10 people)– despite prior phone confirmation – escalated unnecessarily. The situation was poorly handled, culminating in an unpleasant exchange with the general manager, who essentially accused us/me of dishonesty, despite prior communication and written agreements that were not honored (the written agreements refer to our request for queen-size beds instead of singles for our guests). All in all, while the hotel has potential and a few redeeming features, the inconsistent service and lack of follow-through on commitments made for a frustrating stay. I would not recommend this hotel for travelers seeking a premium or seamless experience in Reykjavik.

The bedroom was average size with no storage space. The TV is super small taking into account how far is from the bed. The bathroom has a toilet, tiny sink and shower that includes a curved door enclosure that does nothing to keep the floor dry. The spa is super small (1 hot tub and sauna) with no changing rooms. You need to change yourself in your room. And the gym is just a small corner with wet floor and almost no materials. The location is great as you are in the center in less than 5 minutes and the views from the terrace are very beautiful. The breakfast was also another of its advantages. For the price, I would probably try to find something else near the center.

Absolutely amazing hotel with top location and amazing people working there. Everyone starting from reception girls and manager, breakfast stuff and cleaning team are just great. The trip could not be any better, they are so nice and welcoming and love their guests. Rooms are nice normal size, and breakfast also pretty good and hotel people make it even better. The view from breakfast area is super beautiful .

Location is perfect for walking to all the restaurants and shops, the sea view room was gorgeous, and the rooftop bar was very elegant. However the beds were the worst beds I have slept on, the shower only had a single curved glass door that did nothing to keep water off the floor but don't worry they give you a squeegee to clean up, and the walls and floors were so thin that you could hear your neighbors all around you.

We stayed before our cruise and this was the perfect accomodation. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a comfortable size with everything we needed plus a great view! The breakfast was by far the highlight with a great selection and again another great view. Additionally if you are taking the cruise the shuttles pick up and drop off right across the street so it was super convenient.

We stayed here four nights in early August with another couple. Location was a 5 minute walk to the main shopping streets. 5 minutes to several restaurants on the water. The breakfast was very good with a nice selection of hot and cold food and pastries. The view from the top lounge was excellent and we had drinks there each night. They had a different kind of nachos, which turned out to be very good. Staff was pleasant - and no $ issues at any time. All very good.

I actually was very disappointed in this hotel. We stayed at 3 different hotels during our time in Iceland and this was our least favorite. It was the highest ranked and we thought it would be great but it just wasn’t. Staff at the front desk were lovely and very sweet and helpful but everything else fell short. Our room was very small and tight, very hot (which the staff did bring us a fan- very helpful!) but the bathroom was awful. The shower is a large step up bath. The actual glass door moves in the shower but all the water from the shower head flies out onto the ground and flooded the floor. There’s no way around it. Water stunk very badly and was barely lukewarm. Tiles falling off the bathroom floor and shower. Breakfast is $28 euros to add on for a buffet. Close to the marina and not a far walk from downtown. Parking nearby and was free from 6 pm to 9 am but check each sign as they are all different. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Located in central Reykjavik, Fosshotel Rauðará offers low-key rooms and suites as well as a modern bar. The breakfast is complimentary and the staff are helpful and friendly.
This hotel should have a higher rating. This is a lovely hotel - clean, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was fabulous - cooked breakfast as well as continental. Little bar which does happy hour. Kristjan and other receptionists really helpful. Marko the waiter from Croatia lovely and friendly. Near bus stop 13 for Reykjavík excursions pickup and drop off. Try the Hlemmir Matholl food court nearby - does different food choices - we had chicken noodle soup . Also the Devito’s pizza slices were tasty. Little supermarket round the corner too. We also walked into town and back - if you’re used to walking you’ll be fine. Try phoning directly for deals - we did bed and breakfast.

I am giving one star because the front desk lady who helped me when we arrived and the gentleman who helped me when I was checking out, both were great and helped as much as they can. I understand that Iceland is an expensive destination, but this hotel is extremely overpriced for what it offers. Even after a discount, I paid $300 for one night, and it simply did not match the value. The hotel is very small, and the front desk is oddly located in the same space as the bar. My room was tiny—barely larger than the bed itself—and once I placed my luggage inside, there was hardly any space to walk around. The furnishings were very old and worn. The TV was awkwardly mounted high up on the side wall, about 28 inches in size, making it uncomfortable to watch. The single window had clear glass and faced nearby residential buildings. To get any daylight, I had to open the curtain, but then people could easily see inside. This was especially frustrating since the room lighting was dim and outdated. The bathroom was cramped, old part of the shower faucet was separated from the wall. Overall, the place feels in urgent need of an update—some of the high nightly rate should really be reinvested into renovations and improvements.

During my summer vacation in Iceland, I stayed in this hotel. We were greeted by a male receptionist with a lot of humor. A great and warm welcoming. The other receptionists were also very welcoming. The room I stayed in was normal, nothing to complain. Breakfast (07:00 - 10:00) was standard and nothing extraordinary. The location is relatively close to the city center and you can reach many attraction by 15-20 minutes of walking.

Good hotel. Central to eating and shopping. Best breakfast buffet. Electric outlets could be better placed near head of bed. Bus boy at restaurant efficient but kept clearing before finish eating

Customer service and understanding are completely below standard. Although it undoubtedly seems like a good hotel, I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of the staff at this establishment. I had to cancel my reservation because, one day before my arrival, I was informed that my flight had been canceled. The airline was no longer allowed to operate due to financial reasons. I was also unable to get a replacement ticket for the same period. Because of my son’s school vacation, I was tied to those specific dates. There was absolutely no understanding for this situation, and the hotel refused to refund my money. They stated that cancellations were not allowed within two days of arrival. To me, this situation constitutes a clear case of force majeure. I find it very uncustomer-friendly and, frankly, disappointing on a human level to act this way and not even propose a possible compromise.

Worst hotel we’ve been to in Iceland!! Woke up by the fire alarm that was going off for minutes until one of the residents shut it off. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work, rooms are old, unmaintained and smelly. Service unkind to say the least. Last possible resort in Reykjavík

Leifur Eiríksson Hotel is a 3-star accommodation in Reykjavik, conveniently located near Hallgrimskirkja Parish Church. The hotel offers free continental breakfast and private bathrooms in all rooms, as well as a bar and outdoor patio. Parking is available within walking distance.
I recently stayed here for two nights as a solo female traveller and loved it. I got their smallest room with a twin bed which was definitely on the smaller side, but was fine for me as one person staying there. I was in their separate building that seemed to be recently renovated so the bathroom and room had nice finishes to it. The location is amazing. It is highly walkable and central to everything including bus stops for the airport transfer and excursion pickups. Being next to the church is fantastic too because you get some great views. The staff here were incredibly nice and accommodating as they stored my bag for me while I explored till check in and the night shift lady even packed me a sandwich for a take away breakfast for my early flight! They were also a huge help in organizing taxi service to the Perlan Museum and hot springs, so I really appreciated that. Breakfast was delicious, but definitely traditional Icelandic breakfast, so some people may be looking for more. I personally enjoyed the breakfast and then stopping at a local bakery for a sweet treat through my travels. I would definitely stay here again, just maybe a bigger room if I come back with a friend :)

Nice room with lots of space and a big comfy bed. The bathroom was a bit small but it was not a big deal because we only stayed one night. The location is also great close to the tourist stops, cafes, and restaurants. Maria checked us in and was very kind. She suggested some great food options nearby.
Brenda G — Google review
Relatively quiet and very good location of hotel. Small toilets andhot water does have the geothermal water smell but cold water is drinkable. Easy access from Airport to BSI Bus Terminal (all via Reykjavik Excursions) and drop off via smaller shuttle to bus stop 8 near the church infront of hotel. Can also walk ~15mins from BSI Terminal to hotel (uphill walk). Hotel has 2 buildings: reception/breakfast in main building and the other one has larger rooms. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate all day near reception. Luggage storage available. No safe in room but has hair dryer and coffee/tea machine. Breakfast was good with gluten free options, eggs/meat, yogurt, cereal, etc. Elena at reception is super helpful with trips and tour bookings, and advice on travels.
Rani P — Google review
The hotel is a real mixed bag of good and bad. On the bad side, the rooms are ridiculously small and the smell of sulfur in the water is by far the worst we experienced during our week in Iceland. Taking a shower soaks the entire bathroom floor since there is no floor pan for the shower. The hotel is also quite expensive, but we knew that ahead. While the location is great for walking the city, it's also a very heavy tourist area, so there is a ton of street noise we'll into the night. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and the included breakfast was great.

Hotel Leifur Eiríksson was a wonderful place to stay during our visit to Reykjavík. We were lucky to get a room with a fantastic view of Hallgrímskirkja, which made our stay even more memorable. Waking up to the sight of the iconic church just outside our window was truly special and gave us a real sense of place. The hotel itself has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly and helpful staff. The location is ideal—central enough to walk to everything but still quiet at night. Breakfast was a definite highlight each morning. There was a generous spread of fresh bread, fruit, cheeses, and traditional Icelandic options like skyr, which was delicious! It gave us a great start to our day without needing to hunt for food first thing. One thing to note is that there’s no elevator. This wasn’t a problem for us, but guests who have difficulty with stairs might want to request a lower floor. The stairs did add a bit of charm and old-world character to the building. Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Hotel Leifur Eiríksson is full of charm, in a prime location, and offers good value. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here in September 2025 with a church view room. We were really excited due to the location being across the road from Hallgrimskirkja, being in the heart of Reykjavik and what was advertised as being a bespoke hotel which high quality rooms, customer service and breakfast. This wasn't the case. The only redeeming factor of the hotel was the location, convenience/ease of access to everything and using it as a place to keep our stuff. They don't advertise/tell you that there is no easy access to the hotel and make you walk down very steep stairs to check in/out, go across the road to get your room which had an awkward entry and NO ELEVATOR! We'd travelled from Australia to get here with all our luggage and had to make several trips to get up to our room (more on this soon) which we weren't impressed with. This is also poorly designed and discriminates against people with mobility issues and/or physical disabilities (I'd hate to think of what would happen in a fire/emergency and you were stuck up there!) Then in the morning for breakfast you have to leave the hotel and go across the road to get 'breakfast' (More on this later also). The room also was a huge let down as your literally paying for the view of the awesome Hallgrimskirkja and easy access to Reykjavik only. The bed was uncomfortable, there was no soundproofing, heating didn't work properly, terrible lighting and atmosphere, the door wouldn't lock properly, the bathroom was an insult as they'd somehow placed a toilet, shower and sink into what looked like a broom cupboard and was gross and unhygienic. Also housekeeping didn't change the bedsheets, make the bed, clean the room/bathroom and change our towels (which resulted in going to reception across the road to get new fresh ones, make a complaint then back again) after getting back to our room on the first day of sightseeing - not impressed considering it costs about $500AUD after conversation from ISK a night to stay here! Breakfast was also lame with only two small benches with hardly any food to choose from (of what food was available was bland and clearly chosen by someone who hates food) and a coffee and juice machine around the corner (more like a hot dirt and cordial dispenser) and to add insult to injury and had to put away my dishes after breakfast! (I'm on holiday I'm not your maid! I'm paying you to clean!) After the second day we gave up and went down to Braud & Co for breakfast (highly recommended!) We flew for a total of 30 hours with two stops on the way from Australia to get to Iceland and despite the poor first impressions it gave us of Icelandic hospitality thankfully this horrible excuse of a hotel wasn't representative of the rest of Reykjavik and Iceland as whole. Fortunately we had other plans, tours and hotels booked which all of which were light years better and cheaper than Hotel Leifur Eriksson and we had an amazing time in Iceland and would love to come back one day. We now know NOT to stay at Hotel Leifur Eriksson as it sucks.

Perfect place to stay in the heart of original Reykjavik. Lots of lovely buildings, surround it, and it is pretty amazing itself. It has a park across the street, and a 3 minute walk to a bus stop. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants, the National Museum, and Cathedral… and more. Parks near by. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and gave great suggestions of places to eat. Would stay there again!

Viking Cruise lines chose this hotel for our post-cruise stay. The location was perfect, right in the happening part of town. We were surrounded by restaurants and shops. Many super things to see and do on our own within walking distance. The staff was superb, the included breakfast was outstanding .super selections and fresh and hot (tho I did skip the offered shot of cod liver oil :-). Bed and comforters were great. And so nice to take a shower on solid ground after our cruise :-) Thank you!

The Hotel Borg is perfectly located in central Reykjavik. Restaurants and grocery stores are super close. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. I liked the fact that they had traditional Icelandic foods and signs explaining it. There is no AC in the rooms and they run pretty warm. You can open the balcony doors, but there are no screens. Rooms are an ok size, but more on the smaller side. I had no issues during our stay, but the couple we traveled with had to change their room twice. Once because the room itself had a funky smell and the other was due to a mildew smelling shower curtain. There are only like four parking spots on the street in front of the hotel, so unloading is a bit of a challenge. Parking is available in the underground garage under city hall. It’s a short walk and recommend using the Parka app.

Loved our stay at Hotel Borg! The staff were so friendly and helpful — they arranged transportation for us, booked taxis, helped with an early check-in, and even stored our luggage on our last day until we were ready to head to the airport. It really made everything so easy and stress-free. The spa area was perfect after a cold morning out exploring — we loved relaxing in the sauna, steam room, and hot tub. Our room was just the right size with plenty of storage, and the heated bathroom floors were such a nice touch (I already miss them!). The location couldn’t be better — right on a beautiful square in the heart of Reykjavík. We could walk everywhere: grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, shops, Rainbow Road, and even down to the marina for our whale watching tour. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommend Hotel Borg to anyone visiting Reykjavík

We loved it here. Beautiful old hotel (part of the charm), comfy beds, fan in room. The front desk was accommodating. The spa area could use some cleaning but enjoyed the dry sauna. Masseuse was wonderful, highly recommend. Cleaning did not come one day which wasn’t great because we requested it and did not have towels—and at the price point expect the service. The location is amazing—right in the middle of everything. If you want something less dusty, the apotek next door looked cute (sister hotel).

Lovely staff and centrally located. Amazing breakfast at usual Icelandic eye-watering prices. Comfy room, but nothing we did on the thermostat changed temperature, so we sometimes opened the window to the October outside for cooling. Easy walk to any downtown location, and adjacent to the bus stops that serve as excursion pick up spots.

Fantastic location! Reykjavik isn’t a huge city and this is right in the historice center, a short walk from all the sights. The rooms were pretty large compared to mainland Europe and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is no parking, but plenty of street parking within a flew blocks. Also, the tour pickup location is right around the corner and it’s a 15 minute walk to the bus station where most of tours start/finish.

Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel is a charming and relaxed accommodation option located in downtown Reykjavik. The hotel offers modern and luxurious apartments with a home-like atmosphere, featuring tasteful decor, comfortable furnishings, and convenient amenities such as flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and well-equipped kitchenettes. The hotel occupies two separate but nearby locations within walking distance of each other. Guests can enjoy the convenience of hotel services combined with the flexibility of self-catering apartments.
If you are looking for a centrally located hotel, with clean, well appointed rooms, then look no further. The Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel is a wonderful establishment. They offer breakfast delivered to your room. There were enough provisions for breakfast and lunch. Every morning, a loaf of fresh, delicious sourdough bread was left at our door. We stayed in a junior suite and the kitchenette was handy for take away food and easy meal prep. The staff was very professional and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We loved our stay! The apartment was superb - spacious, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. The location was perfect - close to the main street and across the street from an underground parking garage for our rental car. One of the highlights each day was the arrival of the breakfast basket and fresh bread. There was so much variety, with cheeses, cold meats, vegetables and fruit. Everything was delicious. Stay here next time you are in Reykjavik. You will be very happy you did!

Great rooms in a great location. Modern recently renovated rooms. Overall clean and nice. We had the breakfast delivered one morning and it was full of fresh produce and artisanal bread. They also provide some juice, tea, and coffee in the room complimentary. We didn’t use it but there is a full kitchenette with all the tools you’d need. There is onsite laundry with new machines and detergent provided. The beds are on the firm side and the heating is radiant (not a thermostat for my American friends). On the downside, our bathroom light flickered when the shower had been running and the bathroom door was poorly designed (it opens on its own if it’s not fully closed and you end up hitting it with the front door every time unless it’s fully closed). Our other room also had a TV that didn’t work and a blown fuse when they tried to toast bread. Most of these issues were remedied with a quick call to the desk. Overall I would definitely recommend this for anyone visiting.
Christian Y — Google review
Excellent from start to finish. Great location near the main tourist areas but not noisy. Good breakfast which is enough for a sandwich as well with fresh bread delivered every morning. We had a 3-bed apartment which had plenty of space. When our flight was cancelled due to bad weather, the reception staff were super helpful. An easy 5*.

The Reykjavik Residence 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment was perfect for our party of two couples. The location is convenient to restaurants, shopping, and touring. The staff is very helpful and most friendly. The delivered "breakfast" was enough food for two meals, and the freshly baked sourdough bread delivered to our door each morning was delicious. If we were ever able to return to Iceland, we would definitely stay here.
Sue S — Google review
Great location! Easy to walk to any number of restaurants and other attractions! Rooms were nice. Very clean. The breakfast is innovative, you get a basket of different items daily. Fresh bread, skir, fruit, veg, hard boiled eggs, items for a sandwich, apple juice, milk, and cereal.
Tim O — Google review
Our one-bedroom apartment at The Tannery offered unbeatable value. Perfectly located in central Reykjavik, it was within a 15-minute walk of many of the city’s main attractions. Built in 2017, the apartment was modern, spotless, and extremely well equipped. Although we didn’t opt for the breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised to find milk, tea, coffee pods, sugar, and orange/apple juice provided — and topped up daily as needed. There’s a lively bar nearby, which made it a bit noisy on Halloween night, but the bedroom is positioned at the rear of the building, so our sleep wasn’t disturbed. Our only minor complaint was the lack of a drip mat for our wet boots — a small detail in an otherwise excellent stay. Highly recommended.
Splash — Google review
The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ walk from the main street and supermarket, and very close to the bus stop which makes getting around really convenient. The room is spacious and the best part is the kitchen. Since restaurants in Iceland are expensive, it is great to have a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and all the utensils we need to cook every night. Breakfast is provided daily. It is not a buffet, but that is actually better as we can eat at our own pace and even save some for later. The hotel also leaves a bag of fresh bread in the afternoon, which is a lovely touch. The only small downside is that the extra bed is not very comfortable and lacks support. It might be a bit uncomfortable for a bigger person to sleep on.

Great, basic accommodation. It's a short walk to the centre of town and is close to streets with free/untimed parking. Included breakfast is much appreciated with the cost of food in Iceland. Friendly staff too.

Good enough for one night. Easy to check in and out. We had a double room on the top floor with a very comfortable bed but no amenities. Doors thin so can hear other guests walking around outside - especially as there is a shared bathroom.

This is an affordable, simple accommodation that does the trick. Mostly 2 person rooms with simple amenities and a nice continental breakfast. The location is right by the church so you are right in the middle of the city. Quiet spot away from the main strip too. Great way to save a bit of money in an expensive country.

I had a good stay right in the center of Reykjavík for my 2 nights in Iceland! The room was nice for a single person and the bathrooms were very clean. The lock system is a little confusing so check with the hotel staff about it.
Siya S — Google review
This guesthouse consists of one separated house into two. Reception is nowhere to be found, you have to call it. Towels need to be grabbed at a table in one of the houses. Breakfast rooms are dirty, the tables will never get cleaned after you. The staff is unfriendly and there is no interaction with you. They seem like every day is a bad day, unbelievable. I have never experienced this kind of guesthouse anywhere around Iceland. The location is perfect, however that does not excuse all the cons. There are at least two bathrooms in each house, but there is no soap or shampoo. Our experinces: The lady managing breakfast takes away the food early. Does not matter if the room is full, which it was! When I was pouring apple juice, I spilled a few drops of it. The lady handed me paper to clean it, as I took away the glass she aggressively wiped it.. When my girlfriend wanted to put a toast in the toaster, the lady at the breakfasts was obstructing it, therefore she standed next to her waiting. She was ignored though and force her way to the toaster. There is no "my client - my boss", instead there is "my client - another bug I have to server". The ratio of "cost - quality" is horrible. The rooms were clean, though one of our beds was scratched. Also if you like guesthouses with no shoes on, this is not the pick.

This hotel is in a great spot for seeing Reykjavík. You're just steps away from Hallgrímskirkja and a short walk to Rainbow Street (Laugavegur) and other city attractions. The staff is nice, and the beds are comfy! A modest breakfast is available, though light sleepers might hear noise from other rooms. For the price and location, it's an excellent choice
Kayıhan T — Google review
Accommodation in Iceland tends to be expensive due to the high cost of living, but this place was relatively affordable compared to others. The location, cleanliness, and service were all excellent. Here are some details: - After 6 PM, check-in is completely self-service, and the doors are locked, so be sure to contact the accommodation in advance to confirm the late check-in process. - The breakfast provided is a continental one. It’s not luxurious, but it’s satisfying, though the selection of vegetables is limited. The dining area can get crowded depending on the day of the week. - The dining area is located in the basement, and coffee and tea are available for free throughout the day. - Don’t expect frequent services or cleaning. If you need anything, you can contact the staff as needed. - There is one shared shower room per floor in the three-story main building. During my stay, I never found it occupied, and it was kept clean. However, there’s only one hairdryer. The hot water has a slight sulfur smell.

Hotel is in a good location, but parking is difficult and don’t expect much help from the staff. The hotel has two wings, the worse one is on the left. Here the elevator is on top of a few steps after a door, which you can open with your keycard. After this door you are waiting for the elevator in a service looking area. Entering like this is frustrating, make sure to not get your room in this wing.

Great location to many areas in the Reykjavik city. Next to the famous hot dogs! Many lovely breakfast spots nearby. 2 - 4 min walk to marina/waterfront. Lovely, helpful staff. We opted out of the breakfast, and chose to enjoy elsewhere. Beds and pillows are comfy. Small, convenient fridge for storage. Nicely decorative rooms. A really great stay.

Dear All, We had an excellent stay, with the best care of Mr. Vlad at the reception. We had booked 3 nights but we had changes and were able to stay only 2 nights and the third night was not possible to refund. Mr. Vlad arranged therefore a complimentary breakfast, as well as he checked every time if parking was available in front of the hotel and called us. He is really exceptional outstanding on customers wellbeing and care. The parking fees are very high and this saved us a good amount of money. Thank you again for everything 🙏 Our room was very nice and the location was perfect, right at the center.

A very good hotel to stay in in Reykjavik. Very very friendly and wonderful staff, seriously. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The food at the breakfast buffet was delicious, not much variety but for me was very convenient as it had everything you need for breakfast. The location is perfect: close to some shopping areas, restaurants, and coffee shops. I strongly recommend this hotel to you if you are visiting the city.

An okay stay. First, i was allocated a room where the ventilation duct was working nonstop ( you can imagine the noise ), after back and forth with the reception i was moved to another room which didn’t have a safety box? ( initially the receptionist told me to use earplugs and refused to change my room ). Further, i asked for slippers and the receptionist refused! And again after back and forth i was given slippers. The breakfast was nothing of a 4 stars hotel, below basic. The noise from the pubs and clubs around the hotel can be very loud at night! The location of hotel is great, close to the city and most of the attractions. The airport is around 45 min by car. Staff are really friendly and helpful ( except the receptionist in the first night ). In a nutshell, i wouldn’t come back to this hotel.

We spent a couple of days here after disembarking from our cruise, and the location couldn’t have been better—just a short walk from the port and close to everything. Most of our meals were enjoyed at the food hall diagonally across the street, making dining easy and convenient. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and while the AC setup is simply a couple of crank-out window tops, it was more than sufficient. Radiators are also available if needed. One of the highlights was being able to stream Netflix right from the TV in our room, making for cozy and relaxing nights. The complimentary still and sparkling water was a thoughtful touch. The minibar offered soda, booze, and beer, though we weren’t sure about the pricing. For coffee lovers, both instant coffee and pods were available. The hotel also features a coffee café, restaurant, and bar. Upon arrival, I treated myself to a delicious oat cookie from the coffee bar along with a comforting chai tea—both were delightful!

Guests can enjoy complimentary parking, making it an ideal choice for those exploring by car. The atmosphere is clean and quiet, perfect for relaxation after a day of sightseeing.
The hotel was clean and accommodating although a bit farther from the downtown area than I expected. I ended up spending a fair amount on taxis to and from. I’m giving the hotel 5 stars for its personnel. From the moment we checked in, Philip exceeded every expectation of hospitality. Not only was he incredibly efficient—we were exhausted and able to check in early and he promptly provided directions and responded when we needed additional soap in our room—but what truly stood out was his genuine kindness and humanity. During a difficult moment, Philip provided me with mint tea and sympathy. He offered support in a genuinely compassionate, respectful, and caring way, something that goes far beyond the duties of his job. This kind of empathy and attentiveness is rare to find. He didn’t just do his job—he made a real difference. It’s not every day you encounter someone who is not only excellent at their role but also deeply committed to helping others in meaningful ways. Thank you for making a hard moment easier and for reminding me what true hospitality looks like.

comfortable hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. Our kids had a wonderful time, and the service was excellent. The hotel is a bit outside the city center, but parking is easy and convenient if you have a car. The beds were very comfortable – highly recommend this hotel for families.

I stayed 10/10-17/2025. This is a no-frills hotel, bathroom & bed were clean with in-shower toiletries. Conveniently located relatively close to city center (by car) and w/easy access to main highways. My room was rather small but had a small desk and built-in furniture to store/hang clothes & space for the suitcase. USB ports at night stand did not work and temperature settings in the radiator heater were hotter than necessary. I stayed in what appeared to be a renovated area, but not recently and it showed up on my room floor with sections peeling off when pieces of the floor material met. Front desk staff were always corteous & friendly, but not there before 8:00AM or after 8:00PM. Buffet is better quality than most hotels, the coffee machine makes a great capuccino! The breakfast area supervisor lady, was very nice and shared a bag of breakfast goodies for the road with small kids. Drawback is buffet starts at 7:00AM - late if you have to leave early since Iceland attractions are not in the city. Rented a car at the airport but it was not easy to park in front of hotel, so we ended up parking for free across the well-lit street, which felt very safe. Saw many guests picked up by multiple tour operator buses. Hotel has free access to laundry room in case clothes get wet or dirty, but bring soap & dryer sheets. If you need a clean place to spend the night when returning from daily sightseeing activities, this is the hotel for you. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing hotel, rooms are on the smaller side but they are really nice and clean! Bathroom was pretty and the shower was nice too! Beds sleep amazing. Breakfest was good as well, quite a few different options to choose from. Overall had a great stay here, 100% recommend sleeping here! Staff was super nice and friendly as well.

Good hotel stay, but with minimal room service. Cleaning of room only once if you stay for 5 days. Towels and other consumables has to be changed by self from a storage room . Enough parking is available. No coffee/Tea or kettle in the room, however coffee machine available in the reception area with free coffee.

Absolutely beautiful location, close to many places to check out. Delicious breakfast buffet. Beds could be a bit more comfortable, but wouldn’t deter me from staying there again, beyond that…perfect place!

Philip was very welcoming when we arrived, offering coffee! The rooms were clean and the breakfast was delicious. Philip also helped arrange our shuttle back to the airport. We were a family of four and would definitely recommend staying here !

Bolholt Apartments offer bright and cozy accommodations with kitchenettes, free parking, and a stylish lounge featuring a pool table. Located just a 25-minute walk from Reykjavik city center, these self-catered studios boast stunning bay and mountain views. Each apartment comes with a private bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, and complimentary WiFi. Guests can enjoy the convenience of nearby supermarkets for groceries and easy access to laundry facilities.
The apartment is at great location, near to all the tourist spots. The view from the room is the city street view which is also good. Rooms are spacious and come with fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has laundry service as well (I didn’t use it, but there is a sign board that says it is there.) The space comes with a dedicated free parking spot so you will not have any parking issue as well.

We stayed for four nights. Enjoyed the stay. Its location is great! Closer to downtown and other attractions. The rooms and kitchen are clean, tidy. The kitchen provided cutlery, utensils for cooking and good enough for comfortable dining and stay.

Great place to sleep. We got a larger family size room and it was a great size for my family of 4. We thought the beds were comfortable and it is close to a bus stop for public transportation. There’s a kitchen in every unit from what I could tell with some utensils, pots and pans and a small fridge. It’s self check in so make sure to check your email for how to get into your room. The luggage storage offered was helpful.

Just the perfect place to stay if not spending more than a couple nights in Reykjavik although longer is okay too. Room was clean, updated, with a kitchen so everything you need. The location as some parking and quick access to / from the airport and easy to get out on the ring road to head south or north. Also, the hotel is close enough to the main shopping and tourist area that you can walk is is only about 15 minute to tourist area for shopping and restaurants so really can't go wrong for the price. I stay again if using for one night the heading out to explore the rest of the island. Oh if you want a room with a view then maybe this isn't the place for you.

Great place to stay! No keys, no front desk. All done by email, codes are sent for front door and apartment door. Spacious, comfortable with a small kitchen. Thank you Bolholt

Bolholt 6 was great for our visit to Reykjavik. Unlike a traditional hotel there is no reception here. Check in is automated via text or email and you have a code to enter the building and your room. Our room had a small kitchen area with stovetop, sink, coffee maker. Bathroom was adequate - we just had to learn how to use the shower head. Two steps down brings us to the sleeping/sitting level with a queen bed and a pull out side as well as a table with four chairs. We visited in June when the average daily temperature was between 10 - 16 degrees and the heat was running through the radiators with no way to stop it. That made the room very warm. We opened windows to balance it out. The building is located in more of a suburban or business district. We walked to Perlan and took the bus into Reykjavik center. Close to the hotel are restaurants, grocery stores, RVK Brewery, and a nice, large park.

We asked for a quiet room. But 1st morning I was awaken by the weird sound of a crow. 2nd morning, I was awaken by a man shouting outside the apartment. 3rd morning I was awaken by neighbour moving furnitures & their footsteps walking around in their unit. 4th morning again the neighbours upstairs walking around with their shoes in their unit so loud that woke me up at 0630am. I Did not sleep well at all for my entire trips of 5nights here. 5th morning leaving early to the airport. Since I did not sleep well for the past nights, I purposely came back to the apartment early hoping to sleep early at 5plus evening but an fire alarm went off around 6pm from other unit then in our unit and going on & off for about 5-10minutes. The unit itself doesn’t have a small pot for instant noodles. It has a big pot for like 4-5 people’s food. 02 small bowls provided more like for cereal instead of instant noodles. We also went to the laundry room 3x times but there were no towels at all. All the cupboard compartments were empty. Definitely not coming back to this place.

Hotel Laxnes is a no-frills accommodation in Reykjavik, offering a hot tub, down-to-earth bar, breakfast, and Wi-Fi access. Situated near Icelandic Culture & Craft Workshops and overlooking Esja Mountain, it provides a simple yet comfortable stay with the opportunity to witness the Northern Lights. The spacious rooms offer views of Mount Esja and are complemented by nearby attractions like Alafoss Waterfall.
Loved the design of the main building, breakfast was great every morning as it was buffet style and had plenty of options even for two fussy kids. The only thing I would say that could be improved for me personally, is if the room had a wardrobe or drawers so we didn't have to live out of our suitcases. There is a shared fridge, with designated apace for each room, where you can store your butter etc for picnics, which is a great way for saving some money for your days out

We loved our stay at Hotel Laxnes. Staff were super helpful. Bed was comfy, shower pressure was amazing, and the location was quite convenient. We were able to check in earlier which was a good surprise. Would certainly recommend and would definitely be back!

The rooms are very spacious and it had a neat fold out window/balcony. The flow from bar to hotel was unique. Walked by the hot tub area - did not seem worth paying to use. Breakfast was included and was sufficient to fill you up. Tub was quite tight and the bathroom ceiling could use some fresh paint or a scrub, but we slept well and it was convenient to stop here for a night!

We loved our stay here! Prices are great and it's conveniently located near restaurants and groceries. The hotel has a unique charm that we loved! Our upstairs room even had a beautiful walkout skylight window

Lovely hotel, room was basic but clean and spacious, a perfect base for us. Staff are friendly and the hotel has a lovely relaxed vibe. Location is good, away from the hustle of the city but with amenities close by. Bus stop directly outside so super easy to travel into Reykjavik. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and filling. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Stayed one night before heading to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Unfortunately, the lock on the door to our unit was broken, so we had to stack our luggage in front of the door for security. We arrived after the posted check-in time and were unable to get assistance for the broken lock. The room felt very dated - there was mold along the bathtub seal and dead bugs on the window sill. This is more of a roadside motel than a hotel (you literally park right outside your unit). The only upside was the convenient location, with plenty of grocery stores and food options nearby.

Nestled in the heart of Reykjavik, the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton offers a unique blend of contemporary comfort and historic charm. Housed in a building that once served as a department store from the early 20th century, this stylish hotel features beautifully designed rooms and suites with free Wi-Fi and breakfast included. Guests can unwind at the wellness spa complete with sauna and whirlpool or stay active in the well-equipped fitness center.
I had a wonderful stay at the Konsulat Hotel — part of Hilton’s Curio Collection — and it truly exceeded my expectations. I stayed here right after completing the 4-day Laugavegur Trail hike, and it was exactly the comfort I needed. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and efficient, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. My room was spacious, spotless, and well-appointed, with exceptionally comfortable bedding that allowed me to rest deeply after the long hikes. I had to depart early the next morning, and the team thoughtfully prepared a to‑go breakfast, which was such a kind touch. I will absolutely stay here again the next time I’m in Reykjavik. Highly recommended!

My stay at the hotel in Reykjavik was nothing short of sumptuous. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that was both pragmatic and welcoming. The staff was insouciant, always ready with a smile and eager to assist, which made my experience all the more enjoyable. The room itself was an array of comforts, elegantly designed yet cozy, making it a perfect abode for relaxation after a day of exploring the vibrant city. The hotel’s location was ideal, as it was within walking distance to a variety of restaurants, clubs, and shopping stores, allowing me to immerse myself in the local culture easily. Each morning, I was greeted with a tantalizing breakfast spread that included local delicacies, leaving me satiated and ready for the adventures ahead. One evening, I sat by the fireplace, reflecting on my trip, and I felt an overwhelming sense of elation. While the experience was mostly delightful, I did find a few aspects to be scant, such as the limited hours of the spa services. However, these minor inconveniences did little to detract from an overall wonderful stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience the magic of Reykjavik. It truly embodies the spirit of adventure and comfort that one seeks when traveling.

Excellent stay at the Konsulat Hotel in Reykjavik. Beautiful place with a retro 70s–80s vibe — dark leather, warm lighting, very cosy atmosphere. The room was spotless, with a super comfortable bed and everything felt brand new. The bathroom was also perfectly clean and high quality. The staff were all incredibly friendly and attentive. It’s on the pricier side compared to other hotels in Reykjavik, but the level of comfort and service absolutely justifies it. Truly a great experience overall.

If Reykjavik had a crown jewel of hotels, the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton would be sparkling right in the center of it. I stayed for three nights, and it was pure boutique bliss from start to finish. Let’s talk about the bed—because, wow. A down feather mattress topper and comforter? It was like sleeping inside a perfectly toasted marshmallow. I’m not saying I considered canceling my plans just to stay wrapped in that cloud, but… I’m not not saying it either. The staff? Absolute gems—warm, welcoming, and just the right amount of charming. The Wine Bar downstairs became my evening happy place, with great drinks and that cozy, stay-awhile vibe. And the location couldn’t be better. Step outside and you’re instantly in the heart of Reykjavik—cafes, shops, and sights all within arm’s reach. Zero commute, maximum exploring. Bottom line: if you want style, comfort, and location wrapped up in one gorgeous package, Reykjavik Konsulat is the place to be.

Center Hotels Skjaldbreið is a straightforward hotel in Reykjavik offering bright and casual rooms with minibars, free breakfast, and Wi-Fi. It's an ideal base for land-based outdoor adventures, such as hiking in the nearby hills and mountains during the milder months from June to August or snowshoeing and winter hiking from September to May. The hotel provides storage for belongings, a safe deposit box, and a vending machine.
Our stay here was brief but very comfortable. The breakfast here was also our favorite over the course of our trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s also conveniently located with lots of shops/restaurants within easy walking distance. We parked at the nearby Traðarkot Parking House which always had spaces available and was reasonable priced.

The rooms are spartan but spotless and coffee is provided. The free breakfast has everything you need and the night receptionist was incredibly kind and accommodating when we arrived and left at a strange time of day. She gave us some great advice about parking that served us well. My only complaint is the noise. There is a bar next door with poorly performed nightly live music—but earplugs did the trick. Overall it did not disturb my stay!
Marius L — Google review
The hotel claims to be a 4-star hotel, but it definitely doesn't have the quality of a 4-star hotel. The breakfast is very basic and there isn't enough space when there are many people. There are some stairs before the elevator, which is inconvenient if you have heavy luggage. There's nothing wrong with the room, but be aware that not all staff here are willing to help you.

Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable stay in Reykjavik!

Greatly situated as it is in the heart of Reykjavik on the most busiest / touristic streets but the downside is the noise at night. Bring your earplugs! Rooms are small but comfortable, no wardrobes / drawers but some hanging space. People complain about the complementary breakfast, but we enjoyed it. Bagels, oatmeal, cheese, skyr and fruits, a very plentiful meal.

I write this review late in the evening before going home the next day. Everything is good about the hotel apart from the VERY LOUD and NOISEY bar on the opposition corner, PLAYING VERY LOUD music until VERY LATE into the night. The hotel is not a place to stay if you like to sleep 😴 Because of this: 1) I will be contacting the travel agent to make an official complaint 2) I will be recommending them to remove the hotel from their database. THE WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN BECAUSE THERE IS NO CHANCE TO SLEEP NOT RECOMMENDED NOT EVEN TO MY WORST ENEMY ABSOLUTELY AWFUL.. no SLEEP til VERY late😖

Spectacular location, just no parking nearby. Very easy to walk to and from wherever you wanted to go. Not too loud, even being right downtown. The included breakfast was also very good. When we checked in they even gave a voucher for a free drink at their sister hotel, with a rooftop bar.
Ian W — Google review
We stayed at this hotel two nights prior to getting on cruise. Room is basic with minimal amenities but location is great, in center of universe. One HUGE problem is that we are in a room facing a bar with poor singers. It closed after midnight. A real torture for travellers when trying to adjust time zone changes. Also, window must be open for air - a must in summer but what noise one must suffer.

Friendly staff. I was there way before check in, but they did their best to get my room ready, so I could sleep. Helped me find what I was looking for in the area as well. Room was way more than I expected; it's literally an apartment! You have a hot plate, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, french press, washer/dryer along with plates, cups and silverware! Bed was super comfy too! Walls are pretty thin, so noise can be an issue, but other than that, it was a great stay!
Lisa V — Google review
Great location right downtown with easy access to everything and walking distance to most places you would want to see in the great off Reykjavik. That said, it is a pretty funky place. Told us we were upgraded to what amounted to a garden studio - below grade with not enough light (bulbs were burnt out in 2 of the main light sources in the room. We were directed down staircases, up staircases and outside, which would be cool were we not shlepping our suitcases along, too. Traveling with our 13-year-old son, we needed 2 beds. What we got was 2 mattresses pushed together atop a platform, so we would have been like 3 in the bed. Son chose to sleep on the couch, which was a relief. The beds were actually really comfortable. Hotel receptionist said she hoped we liked the room, but if we didn't, they would...oops, well it is the only room they have available. Biggest negative of our stay: the people in the room above us arrived after midnight and could be heard clearly all night walking back and forth on our heads, rolling suitcases from one end of their room to the other. I got very little sleep the first night. Great shower, convenient kitchenette with adorable pink retro fridge, with niceties like coffee pods and tea. Awesome big screen TV.
Arla U — Google review
Big disappointment. We spent 4 nights at the hotel and none of those night we were able to get a good sleep. Really noisy. Walls are paper thin and ventilation holes are strangely connected from our "bedroom" to the neighbors bathroom. I write "bedroom" since it was nothing more than a bed sitting tightly between 3 walls. Toilet door is see through glass and no sound isolation at all. It's quite impressive though sitting on the toilet and see people walking front of the apartment. House rules are good for you if you like to party, since it's only ask you to keep it down if possible between 1am and 8am. Cleaning staff did not manage to show up during our 4 night stay, no replacement towels or toilet papers appeared. Close to the shopping street, but behind the hotel is a messy construction site. The 30.000ISK deposit that we had to pay at check in is still held back by the hotel after a week we left, though no complaints came from the hotel about our room. No answers to my emails either. Hotel can use some renovation. The bed itself was quite comfy on the other hand.
Laszlo D — Google review
Location of the hotel was great and the room was provided with a small but ideal kitchen, which is useful for saving money or making your own meals if you have certain dietary requirements. The room was warm and the radiators were useful for drying wet coats and hats. My one and only complaint was one night we were awoken multiple times by a loud buzzing sound, although this may have been outside and unrelated to the hotel. The walls may be a little thin so if you are a light sleeper I suggest using ear plugs, if this helps you.
Stanley H — Google review
Very central to everything. Coffee shop down the street. Bed was extremely comfortable, and check-in was very easy. Our room had an extremely funky shower and the entire room was quirky. It's a perfect place for people looking to explore Reykjavik, perfect for couples. The see-through door into the bathroom doesn't make the location too family friendly, however that may have just been our room.
Vyacheslav K — Google review
Everything you need and you're in the middle of the city. The only thing that I didn't like was the door that should have closed the bathroom / shower. Its construction is a little bit faulty which leaves a lot of space between the door and wall and someone could actually see through the gap. Other than that you get a really nice apartment and a very welcoming staff. The bed was great, I think I would get one of these for my home.
Markus S — Google review
If sleep is your lowest priority then you won't mind staying here. The apartment itself is clean and comfortable. It is located just of the main street. This is a plus for exploring the city and most tours will pick you up near by. The problem we had was with the noise. Many people are leaving early or coming in late because of flights meaning the only quiet times are between 2am-4am. You will also hear street noise if you leave the windows open. We were constantly being woken up by people coming in and out of the apartments. The walls are so thin you can hear other people's bathroom movements and conversation. Most nights we averaged 4 hours of broken sleep. I spoke to reception but as they were fully booked they could do nothing for me. Another point to note is the apartments blind's do not keep out any daylight, so with near all day round daylight in summer, it is difficult to sleep (if you like dark conditions to sleep in). I wouldn't stay here again.
Mc C — Google review
Check in was easy, and they helpfully held onto our bags before checking in so we could explore unhindered. Our room was cozy. We were initially surprised at the glass door on our bathroom but I don't think that is unique to this one hotel in Iceland. Only problem was that our room overlooked a street that was *very* noisy Saturday night. We got very little sleep before the wee hours of the morning, and then only after turning on white noise playing from my phone.

Hotel Reykjavík Saga is a modern 4-star hotel located in the Reykjavik 101 district, just a short walk from popular attractions like Icelandic Fish and Chips and the 12 Tonar Record Store. The hotel offers sauna and spa facilities, as well as a patio for guests to relax on. The rooms are contemporary and tidy, with comfortable bedding and ample storage space.
My wife and I stayed at the Saga for part of our honeymoon, and this might be my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at. The room overall was very nice, but the bathroom was just fantastic. The shower and bath were wonderful to use. The aesthetics of the place are also on point. It felt like the coolest place in town to go back to at the end of a long day out. The food was excellent - absolutely take advantage of the breakfast as much as you can! The highlight of our stay was the staff. Many of them appeared quite young, and a couple times when we had questions they couldn't give us immediate answers. But I have not met a hotel staff more eager to accommodate their guests, and they always found ways to help us after they had a minute to work on a solution. Each time we had a need they went above and beyond to help make our stay a truly special one. It says a lot about a place of business that their employees take such obvious pride in their work.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Reykjavík Saga Hotel! The staff were so kind and genuinely excited for us — especially on our first night when they celebrated our engagement with such warmth. Michelle and Thor were exceptional at the front desk every time we saw them — so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The hotel itself was beautiful, the location couldn’t have been better, and breakfast was delicious every morning. It truly felt like a special home base for our time in Iceland. 10/10 stay — we can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic stay — highly recommend! We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was spotless, and the bathroom felt truly luxurious. The location was excellent — with easy access to Bus Stops 1 and 2 for tour pickups and drop-offs. The staff were consistently courteous and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was included, and on mornings when we had early departures, they thoughtfully packed generous takeaway breakfasts for us. A great touch that made our trip even better!

Visited this location in October 2025 and stayed for many nights here. It’s a new-er hotel in the area. Front desk team members are fantastic! Helped with a few questions, holding onto luggage when room was not ready, assisted with calling a taxi (twice). Really helped having such positive experiences with them. Breakfast and breakfast options were solid. Some great buffet like options (eggs, potatoes, skir, pastries, juices, teas, breads, cheeses, yogurt and all the toppings). We got room service and it was quick and kind folks delivering to the room. The room was great! Enough space to get around, multiple pillow options, bed mattress was fantastic. Bathroom had all we needed. Only bit of feedback would be a way to cool the room a little cooler than the temp allows due to the heated equipment in the bathroom. The location is an easy stroll away to anywhere you want to go. For the quality of service and room we got, this is a place you absolutely want to book/reserve for your future Iceland adventure.

One of the nicest places of the 3 hotels I stayed in Reykjavik. Love the bathroom. Only blimp was even though I asked for a quiet room, I can still hear noise from the outside when the windows are open and this so, even when my room faces the courtyard. Anyway, this is because I am a light sleeper. I also cannot open the curtains because my room overlooks the other rooms. However, I will stay here again because of the location and the room is truly nice and comfortable.

Great hotel right in the middle of downtown Reykjavík.Walking distance to everything,2 bus stops near hotel for excursions pick up and drop off.The front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. But the best part is the breakfast. It’s super delicious buffet breakfast with a lot of choices of food and drinks and smoothies. It’s a great way to start your day.The room is on a smaller size, but has a comfortable bed and excellent show.Overall it’s a great place to stay and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to stay in the heart of Reykjavík .

Rey Apartments is situated in the heart of Reykjavik, nestled between the popular shopping street Laugavegur and the trendy Skolavordustigur district. The property offers a range of accommodations including studios and 1-3 bedroom suites, all featuring fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy a short walk to various dining options, cafes, and the famous Sundhollin Swimming Pool.
Really nice apartments. The views from the top floor were beautiful. All the amenities were nice and the curtains helped block out the light

Beautiful, nicely spaced room. With nice bedrooms. One good bathroom with toilet and shower, and another room with just a toilet. Perfect for groups of 6 to 8 people. The location of the apartment is perfect!! You can literally walk everywhere in Reykjavik within 10 minutes. The only thing that you need to know is that the stairs are very narrow. So with heavy luggage the 3 story high stars are a good exercise! You also have to get the key somewhere else, but that was just a 2 minute walk. Would recommend this place to anyone! Had a lot of fun here!

Really lovely apartments. Great location, nicely decorated. Beds were really comfy and overall space was great. Windows aren't great at sound proofing so can be hard to sleep if busy out at night.
Cat M — Google review
I really wish I didn’t need to leave this review, but the hotel seems to be very unaware of the conditions. The shower curtain is growing black mold, the body wash has somehow tainted and developed a rotten egg smell, and the walls are incredibly paper thin. I’m amazed the locks and keys haven’t been upgraded to a proper system, it’s incredibly clunky to enter from the street. I think if the intention was to run a hostel it would have been more appropriate to name and price it as such.
Justin L — Google review
We stated at both the Odinsve apartments (which were great) and Rey apartments (not great) and would definitely not recommend Rey: had to climb more than 20 stairs and go through 6 doors to get to our room 1206 which was a nightmare with luggage, the building was dated and bathroom was tiny (sink so small that water was splashing all over the floor because you couldn’t wash your hands without making a mess, shower was too tight for my 200 lb husband), the sound of people in the apartment talking in the hallways and slamming doors was constant at all hours, we were not informed about the free parking spot and spent over $50 / day to park and unload our car. The lack of communication about check in and misrepresentation of the space was very disappointing.
Ciara B — Google review
Awesome location, walking distance to everything. Clean and nice size room. Bathroom was very small, some windows had no coverings, and you can hear everything from the street.
Ashley — Google review
Although the location is very convenient. Unfortunately, the apartment we rented was right next to the sidewalk and street. Very loud and noisy until around 4 am and then the morning folks start again around 7:00 am. Very difficult to get any sleep. The building is older and the place would benefit from an update. There are other options in Reykjavik that offer much more charm.

Kvosin Downtown Hotel offers contemporary apartments with kitchenettes, smart TVs, and espresso machines. The hotel's central location puts it in close proximity to City Hall, Austurvollur park, Reykjavik Cathedral, and the Icelandic Parliament. It is also conveniently located near vibrant bars, concert venues, restaurants, museums, and shops. Housed in a 1900-built multi-family apartment block with imposing architecture and high ceilings, the hotel features 24 modern Nordic-style rooms.
We loved this hotel! Brilliantly located, spotlessly clean, modern room and the kitchenette made it easier having children with us. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Can't rate this hotel highly enough!
Sam G — Google review
Stayed here for four days in Reykjavik, the staff and Gina were very friendly! The lobby is exquisitely classy and they have a lot of great drinks and snacks to purchase for the room if needed. Check in was easy and it’s very secure! There is a bar and restaurant right next to lobby and they offer breakfast as well! Our room was very cozy with an excellent bed and bedding, some of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time for sure! We opened the windows and pulled the blinds, really wanted a fan and asked and the front desk brought us one which was very kind and perfect! Made us very comfortable during our stay here! Had a beautiful kitchen with all you need, even a stove and built in fridge as well! Made it easy to have food and drinks on hand and prepare stuff when needed! The location is perfect too and you can walk to anything downtown which is especially handy if you go out for drinks as well. There is parking at front entrance which can be full but the P1 parking area is all near the hotel so you can easily find more if needed! We love coming to Iceland and will definitely stay here again! Loved it here! So glad we chose to stay here!

Great hotel in Reykjavik. Good location, walking distance to bars, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was very nice, it overlooked the street but wasn’t noisy. The hotel breakfast was very good, lots of options. Parking isn’t included but easy enough to find spaces nearby. I’m glad we chose to stay here and would definitely recommend.
Jennifer W — Google review
Definitely not a Four-Star (what they claim to be). Location is indeed downtown, but directly near a church that rings its bell hourly, all night long. Plus directly under the final approach / take off path of aircraft landing at Reykjavik‘s city airport. Our room - advertised as „cozy“ was ridiculously small, see picture: less than 30cm path on the way to the bathroom. Many things broken: one blind missing, balcony railing „under construction“, meaning it’s rotten and dangerous. Breakfast average at best (lukewarm eggs, toaster but no toast, etc.) All that to Icelandic prices. Not recommendable.
Andreas G — Google review
Kvosin was a very welcoming place to stay. The service was excellent and we had a very positive experience. Jakob was an excellent host at the front desk and made our stay all the better with his excellent hospitality.

We love it. Location is good, close to almost everything. Nice big room, we were allocated room on the third floor with balcony and very nice view.

This was a beautiful little hotel right in the centre of downtown Reykjavik, Iceland. Decent prices, more than enough room, offers a great continental breakfast (but you have to pay for it) and an impressive array of things you can buy at the gift shop. Andrew, our concierge, was fantastic. Professional, courteous and helpful. He always had time for us. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is unbeatable and hope to stay there again in future.

Holiday apartment rental
Short term apartment rental agency
Sif Apartments is a newly renovated accommodation located in a peaceful and quiet area near the domestic airport in Reykjavik. The spacious apartments feature 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen equipped with modern amenities. Guests appreciate the cleanliness and convenience of having a washing machine and dryer in the large bathroom. The property also offers underground parking, making it convenient for guests with vehicles.
Great apartment! My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) rented the 2 Superior Bedroom/ 2 Bathroom with balcony. We were on the 9th floor with a great view of the water and mountains. Apartment was clean, kitchen stocked with essential cookware and flatware. Salt & Pepper provided, paper towels, dishwasher tabs, nespresso pods and tea bags. Grocery store a quick 5-7min walk. We ate breakfast & dinner in the apartment to save $$$ as restaurants and take-out are very expensive. 2 Bathrooms were clean, hand soap, toilet paper, shampoo & conditioner provided. My only comment would be to ask for extra towels as there were only 4 provided and they were a bit thin. Laundry (not full size, so small laundry load) is inside one of the bathrooms, detergent provided but no dryer sheets. Street parking was always available (our stay was Thursday - Monday) and is paid for by a mobile app (Parka) - cheaper than the underground garage and street parking is free overnight. If you do not have a car, the Bus Stop #12 is a 2min walk and a popular pick-up spot for many tour companies. I would recommend this apartment for any family traveling - I felt like you got a lot more than a hotel for no extra cost. The apartment could easily accommodate a larger family utilizing the sofa bed (but I would call it more of a futon) and there is also a very long couch. Overall, the apartment is in a great location, very clean and an easy walk to most attractions in the City.
Melissa W — Google review
Very nice apartment. I'm sure it contributes to housing costs for locals which is unfortunate. It really was very spacious and comfortable. Great location and nice to have all the amenities of an apartment, like laundry and cooking. It was very clean and felt very modern. The balcony was really nice to sit out on while being protected from the elements. The only negative was trouble getting in, the door code didn't work to the apartment door, the building code worked fine. It took a very long time communicating via email and it seemed like there was some translation problem. It look about an hour and a half and three different door codes before we could get in. Fortunately that was the only hiccup we had our whole trip
David F — Google review
this is a better option than hotels. 2 bedroom apartments with just enough space. enjoyed how it was pretty centrally located. we walked almost everywhere we went. and it has some great restaurants and a convenience store just a few blocks away. Very clean and neat.
Brian P — Google review
I do not think we could have made a better choice. It's a beautiful building with a really modern apartments. Very close to main street, and what's also important, just 200 meters from a bus stop 8 where all tour buses stop to pick up and drop off their guests, turned out to be very important throughout our stay.
Piotr M — Google review
Bad experience even before we entered the apartment. We agreed to pay their quoted fee for early check-in but instead of sending a link for the additional charge, they sent us a link for the full amount of our stay (already paid) again and kept arguing that we should approve this payment but they will only charge the early check-in fees. As a global traveler, never experienced such behavior. Almost makes one suspicious of authenticity.
Debasish M — Google review
Very nice apartment style hotel. We had a spacious 2bed 2 bath unit with a decent sized living room and a large dinner table on the 9th floor. Location is great as well.
Prakash C — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience was not positive! When we arrived, we had to wait 30 minutes outside because we were given the wrong access code. The Wi-Fi connection was poor throughout the entire stay, and on the last day, it didn’t work at all. Right below the two bedrooms there is a children’s playground, and every morning we were woken up very early by extremely loud screaming. Since the Northern Lights are visible at night and you go to bed late, it’s basically impossible to get proper rest here. The bedroom windows have noticeable drafts that let in cold air during the night, making sleep even more uncomfortable. On top of that, the beds and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, making it even harder to get any rest. It was stated that for stays longer than 3 days, towels, bed linen, and cleaning service would be provided. We stayed 5 days, and no one ever came. The bathroom in the bedroom has no curtain or blinds, so anyone outside can see you while you’re taking a shower — a complete lack of privacy. Lastly, all the parking spaces around the house are paid, and you’ll end up spending quite a bit just to park near your own accommodation. Of course, I contacted the property first, but they failed to provide a proper response. They simply said they would inform the team – which clearly means they won’t do anything about it. Be careful before booking this place!
Simone R — Google review
Worst experience ever in my life. Firstly, I never got the check in instructions till April 19th 11:45 PM (the day of check in). I sent the verification with documents in one picture on April 17th but I never any response after that. When I starting sending emails after reaching Sif apartments then I got the instructions. I was standing on the streets with my 3 kids in cold asking for instructions where to go and what room I have and how to enter the building. As soon as I entered the apartment it was smelling like hell with all FISH smell all over the apartment and that’s when I emailed customer service about it but there was no response and when I got the response later they told me it was too late and due to easter weekend we cannot do anything (what a nice customer service). When I went to bathroom the shower was not working (bathroom in next to living room). Then I emailed again to customer service with the pictures of shower and they told me somebody will come in morning. When I tried to call the numbers were not reachable and it said numbers do not exist. I went on the website and even those numbers were said it does not exist. I had to open all the doors and windows in such a cold and chilling weather for the fish smell to be out and sleep in cold with my kids as I was left with no option. Also I could not take shower in one bathroom and just depend upon only one bathroom in the room with all the occupants. The whole reason I book 2 bedroom with 2 bathroom was so that none of us have to wait for showers but it was of no use and we all had to wait as there shower was broken in the one bathroom. Maintenance guy came in morning after email the customer service in morning again to look at the situation. Alex (maintenance guy) came by and he also saw the smell was still there even if I opened up the doors and windows the whole night. He saw the shower was not working, he say the broken light fixtures in kitchen area and took pictures. He agreed that the apartment was not ready to be given to any guests. Even he tried to contact customer service but the number had the same message "number does not exist". He offered to clean the apartment again but when I asked him "will the smell go away", he said no the smell will not go away. He also said he is from the cleaning team and cannot fix the shower as nobody from maintenance team was available. He sent pictures on the chat messages to customer service team while he was with me and he agreed there is no other way to contact the team sitting in another country and with no reception desk or anything. When I emailed them that I am going to go to Police as this is a case of pure cheating then I finally got a call from customer service (Kamelia and Zia) and they agreed that I will get my refund when I gave them the option or either changing my apartment (which they said nothing else is available) or fixing the things (no maintenance available) or giving my refund (which they agreed to) on the telephone call and in email (I have the telephone call recording and email with me as proof). I discovered more things in morning like TV not working (battery was out) I have the pictures for that. The shampoo and body soap was not there in other bathroom which was working with shower so I had to buy that from market in morning and use that. Customer service told me that somebody from finance department will get back to me as the issue is escalated by April 21st as April 20 was Easter and every body was out. Now I received the email from you on April 24th after all this claiming nothing can be done and apologizing. I would warn everybody with this and ask not to stay in this place.

Hotel
Hótel Ísland Comfort is praised for its helpful and polite staff, making guests feel welcome and well taken care of. While not the most luxurious option, it offers clean and tidy rooms with nice breakfast options. The location is on the outskirts of the city, providing a sufficient room size with complete facilities including an electric kettle and hairdryer. Guests have found the rooms to be comfortable and clean, although some noted a slight smell of sulfur in the hot water.
We arrived in the middle of the night and the reception is open 24/7 so that was no problem at all. The room was clean, the breakfast was good, with almond milk which I appreciated. The location of the hotel right beside a busy road means you hear cars all night but that's to be expected. Our stay was only for one night. I would recommend this hotel for everyone arriving in the night not wanting to spend the prices close to the airport. It was the perfect place to get to Reykjavik the next morning
Kim — Google review
This hotel is located close to a freeway, and the rooms (at least the one we stayed in) don't have good soundproofing. Therefore, street noise can be quite disturbing for light sleepers. Earplugs are 100% recommended. The room is spacious and comfortable, though. The hot water had a strong sulfur smell. Although we only experienced it here, I heard this is a common problem in Iceland
Fredy M — Google review
This hotel is located a little out of city center between Keflavik and Reykjavik. It was a comfortable hotel with good beds. We stayed here our first and last night. Comfortable price point and free parking. Dining options are available at an additional fee. They do require a cc hold for incidentals upon check in.
Ingrid H — Google review
The room we went in was very old and outdated the bathroom shower and sink water smelt like rotten eggs the only good things I could say about the rooms were the beds were comfortable and the view was ok. Service was amazing everybody was very nice to us however the buffet was very limited. That caused us to try walk somewhere however the area we were in had an average amount of places to eat but most things were closed most of the time. I Wouldn’t recommend going here its expensive for what it is
Harry B — Google review
My first impression of the hotel was okay, but several issues arose already on the first day. The first drawback was the lack of a refrigerator in the room. Soon after, the sink started making loud beeping noises, and every time the shower was turned on, the entire bathroom (and even the rest of the room) began to smell strongly of sewage. The bathroom was outdated and initially lacked a holder for the showerhead. After pointing this out, it was fixed, which I appreciated. However, the shower drain was clogged, causing water to overflow into the room and covered the whole bathroom floor with water, and the showerhead even fell off the hose, making it impossible to use. This was also eventually repaired – thanks to the very helpful receptionist, who provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the room itself faced directly onto the motorway, making it impossible to get any peace and quiet. The windows could not be opened, and there was no air conditioning. Breakfast had a very limited selection and did not match expectations. All in all, considering the price, the value for money was very disappointing.
Ada B — Google review
I'd like to premise this by saying I don't like writing bad reviews, and don't want this one to come across as terrible. More "needs work". On the outside it looks like a fairly upmarket hotel, all the common areas are and stairwells are very nicely decorated and look very upmarket. However that doesn't extend into the halls to the rooms or the rooms themselves. The two single rooms I've stayed in have been very dated, small and needing some tlc. Carpets are fairly worn, and stained in places, with very dated styling. Maybe late 90's early 2000's? The wallpaper needs redone as is peeling in places, and the tiling in the bathroom isn't the best. There's a small gap and line marks where the flush is for the toilet. The shower needs a good clean or re-pointed as it's pretty grotty between tiles and in the corners. The shower curtain in this room has been repaired with duct tape and a cable tie which looks terrible. I often stay in hotels as part of my work, this one isn't as good as many of the other 3 stars I've been in. Location wise it's right on the motorway, so isn't the quietest. But that doesn't really bother me. 30-45 mins from the airport, a few restaurants about so not the worst overall. Just not great. The staff are lovely and have been nothing but professional and very helpful. 10/10 for the staff! Beds are comfy and clean, has smart tv's in the rooms which is great. Not an all bad hotel, just needs some tlc. Overall, for the price, I wouldn't choose to stay here again in one of the single rooms. Have stayed twice, both single rooms, both haven't been great with issues like above. Would consider trying one of the bigger rooms due to the other reviews I've seen, or if it gets a small renovation.
S. L — Google review
Hótel really needs a facelift. Rooms are very run down and out of style. Very hot room and when the window was open the noise from the highway was very disturbing. The curtains don't keep the light out. Very friendly staff though.

I'm not saying it's a 5 star hotel, but this has been my favourite hotel to stay at in Iceland. The room was so clean and comfortable. The bed was great and although the shower head was small it had nice power. The only thing missing in the room in my opinion was a small fridge. I felt very relaxed there and the service was great.

The hotel is also quite close to the domestic airport at Reyjkavik.

We enjoyed our stay at Alfred's studios. The suite was perfect for what we needed and enjoyed the ability to wash our laundry before the end of our trip. The location was perfect for walking to shops and restaurants, but unfortunately, right next door was a pretty significant and busy homeless shelter. We had one night of our three night stay listening to someone scream through the streets all night long and many times seeing people laying on the street at all hours of the day. The suite itself felt safe but the location right outside the door was undesirable.
Alexandra C — Google review
Excellent location! Shops & restaurants practically right outside the door. Rooms were clean & and comfortable, and there's a small kitchen that allowed us to cook a meal.
Linda N — Google review
Great location- 15 minute walk to bus stop 14 for Flybus or tours, and 2 blocks from shopping and dining. Nice space - kitchen area was sufficient and my husband was very happy with the longer bed! Stairs to top floor were narrow, steep and winding, so we would have requested a lower floor if we'd known.
Charlene K — Google review
Nice studio, enough space and a place to cook your own meal. Located perfectly in Reykjavik near the centre! And a washingmachine with dryer! Tips to make it better: the showerdrain stinks, because it is an open drain. And there is a lack of ventilation, you can open de windows, but you have te close them before leaving. But a great place to stay!
