Bodies of Water
Loch Lomond is a picturesque highlands lake offering waterside paths, cruises, adventure attractions, golfing opportunities, and charming villages. To increase the chances of wildlife encounters, staying outdoors in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is recommended. There are various accommodation options available from simple meadow pitches to luxurious log cabins with easy access to Scottish wildlife.
A stunning loch, with plenty of walking routes around it. There's plenty of options for a bit of wild swimming. We walked alongside it while walking the West Highland Way.
Donna W — Google review
Beautiful lake. The boat trip is a must. A walk to the castle is pleasant and quite relaxing. This is a visit to a wonderful park. Not a walk on nature. Overall, I recommend the trip.
F M — Google review
A place worth experiencing when you visit Scotland. Everything here is wonderful, from the natural scenery to the people. You can explore this place by both land and water.
Khánh N — Google review
What a beautiful place to explore. Had a cruise on the lake which is a must. On a good day you can walk around the loch and climb the Ben Lomond and do a scenic walk in one of the loch’s islands. Make sure you allocate enough time to be able to do most of the activities.

🌊 My Visit to Loch Lomond, Scotland Visiting Loch Lomond was a breathtaking experience. Located just about an hour from Glasgow, it is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland and part of the stunning Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Surrounded by rolling hills, forests, and charming villages, the scenery is simply spectacular. I enjoyed a leisurely walk along the shore, boat rides on the loch, and exploring the picturesque village of Luss. The calm waters, reflections of the hills, and peaceful atmosphere make it a perfect spot for photography, picnics, and relaxation. Visitor Tips: Bring comfortable walking shoes for trails, and pack snacks or a picnic. Boat tours and water activities are available during summer months. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer the best light for photos and fewer crowds. How to Reach: Loch Lomond is accessible by car via the A82 from Glasgow or by train to Balloch with onward local transport. Overall, Loch Lomond is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking tranquility amidst Scotland’s iconic landscapes.

Ok so the weather at the end of May was not so great ,but I drove up from Glasgow with a Loch tour booked to my amazment I got there way to early even though I had already been to Dunbarton Castle, but I asked at the kiosk if I could change my ticket and just like that the young lady siad aye there is a boat going in 5 mins so of I went on my second adventure in less than 4 hours.
Paul L — Google review
Lovely scenery and it's a very large area so plenty to see if you are up for a bit of a walk
Alan G — Google review
A beautiful lake, which is beautiful irrespective of the time of the day. It has boating and some water sports options to engage with the environment. Very peaceful to just sit by the side of water and let the waves (yes! Waves in the lake water) entertain you for a while.

Ben Lomond, a 974-meter mountain located in a national park, offers various climbing routes and is home to diverse birdlife. The area around Loch Lomond and the Trossachs boasts an abundance of wildlife, including different species of deer such as Red Deer and Sika Deer. Birdwatchers can spot Ospreys, Capercaillie, Black Grouse, and the beloved Red Squirrel in the woods.
This is an excellent trail even for a moderate level of fitness. From the moment it starts, the views along the way are simply incredible, unfolding with each step. As you climb higher, you would see the beauty of Loch Lomond and the surrounding Scottish Highlands. Summit is quite windy but views are truly spectacular. It's a must-do for anyone visiting the area and looking for a memorable outdoor adventure.

It takes 2.5 to 3 hrs to reach the top. It's totally worth it. The scenery is beautiful, just one tip to the people who are planning to hike there are 2 routes to reach the top the route which begins from left side of car park I mean which passes through a small beach , in that route near the top of Ben Lomond it gets very steep so be careful there. The right route is easy .
Wasif N — Google review
One of the most pleasant and rewarding mountain hikes I have had the pleasure of completing. Of moderate difficulty and suitable for hikers of all levels if you've got the time. The summit was very windy and 10-15C colder than the bottom, so bring layers. If you decide to do the full loop via the Ptarmigan Ridge, I recommend doing it counter-clockwise as going up the eastern side was more gradual and the path was more flat. It took us 5.5 hours to do the full loop, including a pitstop for lunch at the top.
Austin D — Google review
Definitely one of the better mountains in Scotland but it's also one of the busiest. Offer unbelievable views. The hike up needs a reasonable level of fitness though
John A — Google review
Bagged my first Munro yesterday and it just had to be the beautiful Ben Lomond on the stunning loch Lomond. We went right up the shoulder and then down the ptarmigan ridge. Wow wow wow. It took is 4 hours to reach the summit including small breaks and a half hour stop at the top. 2.5 hours to descent, with equally amazing scenery. Highly recommend this as a first Munro. Only 281 to go 💙⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

My first Munro! ☺️ what a lovely and rewarding mountain hike we had. You can see Loch Lomond while you hike and the views are spectacular.
Zar N — Google review
A lovely hike for my first Munro. There's a couple of awkward spots but with a bit of care they are easily navigated. It's a continuous slope from start to finish. But the views at the top are stunning. We were lucky enough to do it with totally clear skies. If it has been raining extra care will be required as some of the rocks are slippery. It's also a busy walk so you definitely won't have the place to yourself.
Jon C — Google review
Beautiful. The climb up to the peak is very challenging and at times I thought we should turn back. But we didn’t and I’m so glad. The views from the top are breathtakingly beautiful. There are some really tricky sections on the way up which I wouldn’t have managed without my husband’s help. Be prepared, if you’re not used to tough walking this isn’t for you. But I did it and I have a mobility problem. Take your time, don’t be in a hurry. It will get your heart pumping - literally - and take as many rest breaks as you need. It took us 8.5 hours to go to the peak and back down again, but we had allowed for that time. So glad we did it.

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, a Scottish gem, offers a mix of stunning natural landscapes and rich history. At its heart lies Loch Lomond, the UK's largest freshwater body, providing various water activities and scenic islands to explore. The park boasts diverse terrains from lush southern landscapes to rugged northern glens.
Loch Lomond is another heavenly beauties of Scotland. It has Towering Mountains, Glittering Lochs, Dense Woodlands and Several Islands. Here, you can see the mountains are kissing the water and the sky at the same time. You will see unreal beauty, if you visit on a bright sunny day. Very close to Balloch railway station. The River Cruise is a must, where you will enjoy the water, stunning mountain views and several islands in the journey. Perfect weekend trip for your family. The kids will enjoy the fullest. We took the Silver Dolphin Cruise which was amazing. A must visit place, if you are in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Rohit R — Google review
A stunning place to visit. Just a few minutes walk from the train station, and you are in breath-taking scenery. There are lots of different walking trails. Dotted around the loch, there are children's play areas. There is also a castle and walled garden that you can explore. The nearest toilets are at the castle. There were picnic tables. There are hard surface paths around the loch. These are wheelchair accessible. Dog walking off lead is allowed.
Shelley C — Google review
This is amazingly beautiful place to do hiking, chilling by the water or doing water activities, it has it all covered. Little place called Luss, was a brilliant spot for us. Has got boat tours, little cafe and shop, parking and petrol station, town streets and houses are postcard perfect, the beach with white sand. Amazing experience. Weather in the morning didn't promise a nice day, but later sunshine appeared and it was lovely.
Irina M — Google review
Breathtaking! A cross between North Carolina and Colorado. We came through in March and I can only imagine what the scenery is like here in the summer and fall. We were able to see a tremendous variety of flora and fauna, from vast swatches of some of the largest daffodils I have ever seen, to wild Scottish Red Deer, which look similar to a North American Elk. The weather, while cold and damp, was almost perfect for the time of year we visited. This is a bucket list item, for sure!
Joe M — Google review
Truly a beautiful lake, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I can really tell the Scottish people take real good care of the lake too. Well worth a visit.
Nick — Google review
We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. It was amazing to see the beautiful highland landscapes and lowland rolling hills & drive through the villages.
Catherine H — Google review
Camping is allowed in this area as its outwith the Loch Lomond and Trossachs no camping zone. Parking at the Balquhidder church this route takes about an hour and a half walking. There isn't many good pitches at Lochan Eireannaich but I managed to find a good one.
Colin M — Google review
Although far for most Englanders, this is a place of extraordinary beauty. Whether you like watersports, or hiking. Quick tips: 1. Always carry midge spray. Avoid DEET though. Midges usually are the biggest annoyance in and around the area. 2. If you booked a water taxi, make sure you call them ahead of schedule if the jeti they will pick you up from is busy.

Restaurant
The Old Mill is a charming country pub and restaurant located in the picturesque village of Killearn, just a short drive from Loch Lomond Waterfront. Housed in an 18th-century weaving mill, this cozy establishment offers exquisite cuisine in a quaint setting. The attached pub provides a perfect spot to enjoy drinks after your meal. With a kids' play area and separate pub and restaurant areas, it's ideal for families. Visitors praise the friendly service and recommend booking ahead due to its popularity.
We went to The Old Mill last weekend. The manager was very welcoming and was able to accommodate us without a booking. We had to wait for a bit but we could get pints and wait outside in the tent so it was no bother. The entire staff were brilliant and very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, we both ordered the venison burgers with fries. We were offered a high chair for our baby who spent the entire meal babbling and chatting to the friendly staff. All in all it was a perfect day out for us and the service and food and the drive there made it worthwhile.

Taken here by a friend for my birthday lunch. Staff are delightful and friendly, couldn't fault them. Food was superb, beautifully cooked and presented. This place is a must-do on a food list.

(Detailed review below) Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Accessibilty ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I came here recently on a Sunday with family/friends and had a really nice, relaxed time! It wasn't too busy (we had booked ahead because of our group size) and the vibe was cosy, casual and comfortable. There is an extension/outdoor area that was spacious and lovely but we were sat indoors in what I can only assume is the old mill (hence the name) and the space is a bit tight. There are sections that are wheelchair accessible but some passages are narrow or may have steps. I had the Sunday roast and really enjoyed it. The taste was great but I could have done with just a bit more roasted vegetables. Also, the knives weren't very sharp. Minor issues but something that could be improved on. My dessert (a chocolate mousse thing with a scoop of caramel ice cream) was delicious too! This place is pet friendly (indoors and outdoors) and we had a dog 🐶 with us that got some love by the staff (free water, doggy biscuits... plus lots of scratchings behind the ear). Overall, it's definitely a lovely stop even for a drink (they have a bar) and easily recommended to anyone!
Adrian L — Google review
The restaurant and pub is very popular in Killearn town. This 18th century former weaving mill is very charming and modern restaurant and has a beautiful rustic pub; reservations recommended during meal times! Well located with ample parking space at the back courtyard. Their service staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is freshly prepared, cooked to perfection and very delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal; keep up the great work guys

Absolute gem of a spot. Beautiful location. Amazing food. Deserts to die for. Hilarious hosts. Highly recommend.

Just visited this pub with my dog and had such a lovely experience. The food was excellent. What stood out most, though, was the staff. They were warm, welcoming and genuinely friendly, not only to me and my family but especially towards my dog. A great spot if you’re looking for good food in a really dog‑friendly atmosphere.
Ramesh R — Google review
Really dissapointed that we wasted our money here today. Just to be clear 2 courses with a drink each came to £94 thats with a 20% discount on one of the mains... let me tell you why. Our starters were nice, presented well and tasted good, however.. We ordered steaks for the mains, medium rare. Both steaks came out blue, myself not being fussy and not being approached to ask how our meals were I ate mine, my partner however couldnt chew through half of it, left over 75% of her steak. After a complaint to the waitress at the end about this only after she asked "are you finished there" instead of "how was your meal", she reported back to say the manager had taken 20% off of 1 of the mains only (totalling £6.80) although the steak was uneaten. Didnt make a dent in it. The mac and cheese was also so bland, did not taste of cheese what so ever. Horrible experience. (We had two, 3 course meals with 2 drinks each the previous day in glasgow, for a total of £88 and the food was far superior to here) just for reference.
Gee S — Google review
Visited for a few meals last week with family. Excellent food, with some of the best steak I have had. Drinks are great too, and the atmosphere is cozy whilst being neither too formal or relaxed. A great place for good food and drink, I would recommend booking in advance, especially during tourist seasons. Thursday steak night has definitely been a hit for me, so I will be aiming to visit again soon!

Nature & Parks
Balloch Castle Country Park, situated on the southern shore of Loch Lomond, features a 19th-century castle surrounded by ornamental gardens and nature trails. The Tudor Gothic style castle was commissioned in 1809 and includes decorative defensive features like turrets and lancet windows. The park offers serene lochside walks with tree-lined paths and a children's play area.
Such a big and beautiful park in Balloch! There’s a lovely castle to explore, clean toilets, and even a fun little fairy trail to keep things magical. Loads of space for dogs, running, and jogging perfect for a day out. The variety of trees and plants makes it feel really peaceful and green. Great spot for all ages!

Another great spot for Family. Toilets a bit far though and up the hill. Lovely play parks and lots of open green space to play all sorts of sports games or just to chill on a blanket. Stunning views. Very clear water. The only downside for us it was quite a lot of broken glass on the beach and my girls love walking bare feet. Staff tries their best to keep it clean but it is up to us actually to leave no print behind.
Iwona — Google review
This charming and tranquil location is not very well-known among tourists, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of more crowded attractions. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the serene lake, which adds to the area’s natural beauty. Families will find a delightful playground for children, providing a safe and fun space for them to explore and play. Convenient facilities include clean restrooms located adjacent to the historic castle, ensuring comfort for all visitors. Best of all, parking is free, making it easy to spend a leisurely day soaking in the picturesque surroundings.

First time in this park despite my many visits over the years to Balloch. Wanted to go for picturesque dog walk & was not disappointed. Perfect time of year at autumn . Will be back more often 👌🏻

Great place for a walk and picnic. Stunning views of loch lomond. Grounds are spotlessand well maintained. The castle is closed to the public but if you have an interest in history or just like to visit beautiful buildings then its worth a visit if in the area. Public toilets are in the castle. If you walk down the hill towards the pier there is a kiosk if you want to grab an ice cream.
Sharlene R — Google review
A lovely castle that is sadly rotting away. You are able to walk around the outside, and there are toilets available. The toilets were in good condition. It should be noted they close at 2.30 pm during the winter. There is a hard surface path to the castle, but it is up a hill, so it would depend on the wheelchair type and fitness of the user.
Shelley C — Google review
I find this park to be a wonderful spot with breathtaking views of Loch Lomond, scenic walking paths, and wide open areas perfect for picnicking or unwinding. Very clean and green area. Parking is big and free, there is a huge playground for the kids, cafe and ice cream shop

We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. We parked in the castle parking area for free anc walked around the ruins of the 13th century castle. It was barricaded. We walked the path leading to Loch Lomond and enjoyed the views. There was a playground near the lake and our kids & grandkids enjoyed the play set.

Conic Hill is a popular and moderately challenging hike that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Loch Lomond, Ben Lomond, and the surrounding islands. The two-hour round trip takes you through ancient woodlands and open moorland, with the scenery becoming increasingly stunning as you ascend. Keep an eye out for birds of prey like buzzards and hen harriers soaring overhead.
Beautiful trail with beautiful views!! It's not too difficult but does have steeper sections. There were a lot of people, but that didn't take away for the experience. It is very well taken care of as well. Took us about 1.5 hours to get up and down taking break into counts so it definitely can be done quicker. Heavily recommended!
Oliwia R — Google review
Despite visiting in the middle of August, the weather was not the most favourable, with occasional wind and light rain. This did not deter us from climbing to the top, and the experience was entirely worthwhile. We noticed that some people only climbed halfway up, and even from that point, the views were fantastic. Therefore, we definitely recommend going as far as you can, even if you do not plan to reach the very top.

Conic Hill (361m/1184ft) offers absolutely breathtaking views of Lock Lomond below during this hike. A steady uphill hike with a few steep parts however this is very doable for all ages and fitness levels. Just take plenty rests if you need to. A great walk for dogs with a car park and a visitors centre that also has toilets (Not free but very reasonably priced). A local shop in just outside the car park for supplies. Also a lovely pub offering lots of drinks choices and a lovely restaurant inside. Very friendly staff. What a lovely walk and I would definitely do this again!! A must see if your in the area 😁👌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Balmaha's walking trails are a must-do! We completed both the easy loop around the village, which offers lovely woodland views and insight into the area's history, and the more challenging Conic Hill trail, which rewards with breathtaking panoramic views of Loch Lomond. The Conic Hill climb can be steep and rocky in parts, so good footwear's a must. Both trails are well-marked and maintained. Don't forget to pay for parking - you can pay by app or at the machines, super convenient. Toilets are paid in the visitors' centre. Overall, Balmaha's trails offer a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Highly recommend!

Conic hill gives you stunning views of the Eastern end of Loch Lomond from an easily accessible hill at 1184ft. The path to the summit is very well constructed and maintained. The walk starts from Balmaha visitor centre car park and parking is plentiful with a small charge. Conic hill is signposted and easy to follow on a well defined path to the summit. You start walking through a lush, woodland before the trees open up and the views of Loch Lomond can be seen. The view at the top is a jewel and you can see the clear line of the Highland boundary faultline where the division of the highlands and the lowlands join and on a clear day you can see Goat fell on Arran and Ailsa Craig. Conic hill can be enjoyed by most people of reasonable fitness, just be canny on the stone path when it is wet as it can be slippery. There are also amenities in Balmaha with a village shop and the Oak tree inn for food, drink and accommodation.

Twice we've been up here. The first time up and down from Balmaha (which is steep, stony steps). The second while walking the West Highland Way. Great views from near the top. The summit is further back, but we headed up to a viewpoint to get a great view over Loch Lomond.

Beautiful trail with stunning views over Loch Lomond and its islets. The hike is very doable if you are untrained as the trail mostly consists of stepping stones. Up and down took us around 2 hours, taking it slowly and taking plenty of breaks. Truth be told, the views were mostly beautiful from the second platform at around 75% of the hike. The top was extremely windy which made us was to get down quickly. You return the same way you got up.
Julia L — Google review
We did this hike last week starting from the car park. I had a driver who picked us up along the W. Highland Loop. We traveled east from Conic Hill. I think this was ideal. There are essentially stone steps for approximately 1 mile up the hill, which would be very challenging coming down, especially if it was wet. If you travel east on the west Highland route past conic hill is more of a trail with stone steps and more dirt. I know this isn’t the standard direction for the W. Highlands Loop but for us that day and if you have a driver or a second car and you wish to do a point to point type of hike , it is fantastic. In total it was about 5 miles for us to get back to the paved road.

Don't waste your time with this agency. I showed interest and a lady called me wanting to know where the agencies I worked with sent me to for work. I told her I cant reveal due to data protection. She said since I can't tell her the name of the places my agency sent me to, she can't bring me onboard as she can't ascertain my experience. I told her I ain't desperate for her job. Aside, seeing their reviews here, I am glad she didn't bring me onboard. She appears not to know her onions. Just for you to know, I mean the lady , I have over 13years experience working as carer/Support Worker and currently studying nursing. Good riddance!

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with the way my application and availability have been handled over the past few months. After being given only a one-month shift, I’ve now been waiting for over two and a half months with no further work offered. During this time, I received occasional updates suggesting job availability—most recently a possible return to WHS with an induction scheduled for 12th June—but was later told I was not suitable without any clear reason or explanation. I had turned down other job opportunities based on the belief that more consistent shifts would be available through your agency. Unfortunately, this trust has not been respected, and I feel that my time and efforts have been taken for granted. It’s particularly frustrating to see new roles being posted on your website each week while existing registered staff—who are available and already familiar with the work—are ignored. Additionally, conducting interviews and inductions for temporary jobs that only last a month is extremely misleading and wastes candidates’ time. There was also no proper communication that many of these roles are short-term or temporary in nature, which would have helped me make more informed decisions earlier. Given this experience, I’ve decided to stop pursuing work through your agency and will be leaving a 1-star review to reflect the lack of transparency, communication and respect shown throughout this process. I genuinely hope this feedback helps improve how candidates are treated moving forward.

I should have read the reviews before I considred any application . several attempts by e-mail to get some update and ask if anything I can do to change my options. So I just rang , was greeted like an old friend, 1 question later knew I wasnt even considred for anything they had because she clearly binned me after the interview left me cold ,and ignored my contact attempts . awful way to treat someone . If they cant use you they dont want to know you , But a response after attempted contact would have let me know , and saved this review

it's the worst agency I have ever seen. I had a sad experience with them. I sent an email to their agency (Robyn Christie) for a job search. I didn't get any reply, so I sent an email to him again, but he blocked me. I still don't know the reason.

They sent all my money to a previous Revolut account, even though I unfortunately don't have access to it.I gave them my new account details. They simply ignored me and took the easy way out ! The fact is , 1,5 years later, I still don't have any money ( 1000£) . I've tried everything, and only a lawyer can I hope help me ! Thank you very much !

Horrible company! Ignore your application completely, how can anyone want to apply for jobs through this agency is beyond me! Never again

I started my job search 2 weeks ago with an initial interview with Denise while my recruiter was on annual leave - who was nothing but helpful and informative about how they work, and how I can get a job through them. The process is really fast and easy and I can’t thank everyone enough for their help. I dealt specifically with Eilidh who was an absolute star. She called me for 3 different job opportunities as well as a weekly check in to touch base with me to see if I also had any news. It’s the fastest I have ever got a job through an agency and the process was highly efficient and professional. Thanks for helping me obtain my first job linked to my university degree!

Loch Earn is a picturesque, long and narrow freshwater lake in Scotland, offering stunning natural scenery and abundant wildlife. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing, boating, and camping along its shores. St Fillans, a charming village located within the Trossachs national park on the banks of Loch Earn, provides breathtaking views despite unpredictable weather. The national park itself covers a vast area with diverse landscapes including lowlands in the south and high mountains in the north.
Took a detour to see this after someone mentioned it to us, and it was certainly unique. There were plenty of long parking areas on the approach, but we ended up jumping into the bus bay to grab a picture, which was easier than turning around!

Lovely place for walks, seems the fishermen like it here too, there was loads of them. Saw the mirror man, not as tall as I thought, but you can see how far the water splashed him. Some even swam.out to him Great day out for this area.

Lovely camping spot. Can get quite windy and rainy, but the views are amazing. There isn't a lot of parking spots around so you need to come nice and early if you're planning on camping and want to be near your car. The walk from the south side of the loch towards St Fillans is also very nice.

Nestled in the charming village of Balmaha, on the tranquil eastern shore of Loch Lomond, Oak Tree Inn offers a genuine Scottish experience. The family-owned inn provides traditional rooms, a bunkhouse, and nearby cottages for accommodation. Constructed from locally quarried slate and set beneath a 500-year-old oak tree, this rustic lochside retreat is an ideal base for exploring the breathtaking countryside or embarking on a leisurely cruise on the loch.
Great food, comfortable accommodations. Lunch was a delicious treat after an 8 mile hike. Evening meal was excellent, and the server was helpful, friendly and prompt. The breakfast buffet was especially good, helping us fuel up for the next leg of our WHW journey. Special shout out to the two kind ladies at the front desk who answered all our questions with patience and humor, and the very friendly young man who took care of us at dinner. The place was wonderful, but the people made us feel so welcome and looked after.

Great location. Nice restaurant/bar. Well maintained. Good service. This review is specifically for Room 81... While this room is in fine condition there are things any guest MUST be aware of (which we were not, prior to our arrival). TALL PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND ALL PEOPLE WITH EVEN MINOR MOBILITY ISSUES SHOULD NOT STAY IN ROOM 81. The room is well appointed and clean but it is at the top of winding stairs which were challenging to negotiate and the interior space is loaded with head-injury opportunities. This apartment is built in an attic space. The four dormers (or dormer-like recesses) are great but the resulting protruding ceiling edges are treacherous. As a man of 70" in height, I had to constantly restrict my movement to a width of about 5' for the entire length of the facility. We set our upright suitcases and portable furnishings in places to remind us to not walk into the ceilings. I will attempt to upload photos illustrating this. Very careful healthy short people would love this place!

Excellent, stayed 3 nights . The room was so nice, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and professional. The restaurant was good, with well cooked food and served hot. Very generous portions. The whole site was well presented and well kept. We will recommend.

Nice large complex close to great walking trails. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was a bit of a mob scene with live music, a private party in the main dining room and lots of kids running around wild. The food was just okay, probably won't dine there again.

Also the included breakfast buffet is very good with lots of options - quality meal.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our west highland way journey. Rooms were well maintained and clean. We shared a bathroom with one other room which wasn't bad. This is the second time we’ve eaten here and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is so lovely - cosy and quaint with nice decor too. The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was 10/10 - tons of choice, big portions and delicious. I had the seafood trio to start and it tasted so fresh. The salmon was incredible - full of flavour and presented beautifully. We had multiple cocktails too and every single one was really nice and presented well. We can’t recommend this place enough - it’s a treasure.

Booked a table for a party of five for lunch mid week. Booking was easy and done in a nice manner . On arrival we were greeted and taken to the restaurant where we decided on the table and then ordered a variety of things from the menu. Staff were both helpful and nice and patient ; they had to be ,decisions decisions were slow on our part . Food came and all looked very appetising ; it was good too and everyone was happy . I remember the food from years ago being very good and while the menu style had changed the quality is still very good . No hesitation to recommend and I look forward to returning. Thank you Clachan team .

Coach House Coffee Shop and Store is a popular spot in Luss, offering a wide range of local and Scottish delicacies. It's known for its cozy atmosphere, making it the perfect place to warm up after exploring Loch Lomond. The cafe serves delicious scones with jam or whipped cream alongside a comforting cup of tea. In addition to their delectable cakes, they also offer soups, sandwiches, and an assortment of hot beverages.
Little gem of a cafe near Loch Lomond. Me and my family randomly found this place and decided to have a look. We ended up dining in and having a lovely lunch. The tomato soup was really nice and had so much flavour. The serving size was quite big and good value for money. The service was fantastic, the waitress highlighted to us that one of the soups had ham in it which we couldn’t eat, this was really nice of her to inform us. Overall a really lovely place to take family. The surroundings are quite homely and the food is fresh and home made. After we ate, we went for a stroll on Loch Lomond banks which was a great way to end our lunch :)

Best scone of my life👍. I had as well the haggis, on oir last day in Scotland, and that's totally palatable from a french point of view. Very simple dish served with mashed potatoes and melted cheese that reminds me of the aligot in Clermont Ferrand. Service is excellent, friendly waitresses, but it comes with a hefty price tag. That's the cost of reputation. Bad surprise, I got a penalty for not parking my motorcycle properly. An expensive brunch indeed.

What a great find whilst visiting Loch Lomond and stopping over in Luss. Very friendly staff, quick service, very dog friendly and lovely garden where we could eat our take away. Three choices of soups and the carrot and parsnip was homemade, hot and really tasty. Served with a slice of crusty bread. My husband had a stokie ( filled bap) which was really good. We highly recommend this cafe.

Cameron House on Loch Lomond is an elegant and luxurious hotel located in a historical 17th-century Baronial mansion, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The recently refurbished hotel boasts spacious and well-appointed rooms and suites, along with world-class cuisine and top-notch service. Guests can indulge in massages, body treatments, and facials at the on-site spa or enjoy recreational amenities such as a golf course, health club, and outdoor pool.
Stayed here in a lodge with family for 3 nights. The lodge was very spacious but still had a cozy vibe. The food at the many restaurants was great, the only complaint I had was on the first night we went out for dinner it took a wee while for us to be served but the pub was busy so likely wasn’t the fault of the staff. There were many activities to do around the resort. The scenery around the resort was beautiful, especially the loch. Had a great time and will definitely come back again!
Finlay P — Google review
The location and views are absolutely stunning - a beautiful setting that initially makes you expect a true 5-star experience. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. From the start, service was non-existent. We queued for 20 minutes to check in with no seating or refreshments offered, and doormen didn’t assist with luggage. We had purchased welcome treats which room service simply forgot to deliver. Our luggage took more than an hour to arrive after check-in; even after calling, we eventually had to collect it ourselves. Staff were unhelpful and unapologetic throughout. Our suite was fine on average, but certainly not at the level advertised: the toilet flush button was falling off, the shower hose leaked, and the AC was so noisy it disturbed sleep. Shuttle service between facilities was only once per hour and unreliable. Despite confirming a late checkout multiple times, we were locked out of our room earlier than agreed. On departure, the taxi we had asked reception to book in advance was also forgotten, leaving us waiting an additional 20 minutes. Overall, Cameron House is understaffed, poorly managed, and does not live up to its advertised 5-star standard. Beyond the scenery, it offers little value - if you are expecting luxury service, this is not the hotel for you.

Disappointing Stay at a Beautiful but Overpriced Hotel last summer We were really excited for our stay at Cameron house, a luxurious establishment with a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the 5-star hype. The property itself is stunning — the views on Loch Lomond, the design, everything looks gorgeous. The people working there are particularly kind, however, the service left a lot to be desired, particularly housekeeping. Our room wasn’t cleaned properly during our stay and on multiple occasions very late in the afternoon. The carpet was not vacuumed and the bathroom floor not cleaned at all during our stay. It was frustrating, especially when you're paying top dollar for a 5-star experience. At the Tavern, we had to wait for one hour to have the waiter tell us that they got the orders confused then brought us a burnt and cold burger. We asked to replace, they only changed the upper bun. At the bar we asked for our tea to be brought to the room, we never received them. It seemed like the staff were doing their best but couldn’t deliver quality service because of their workload. You need to ask for some things twice in order to get them. Some of them were also clearly undertrained. For a hotel at that price, we expected much better attention to detail and responsiveness. It was clear that the hotel is run by an American private equity that’s cutting costs where it matters most, the staff.
Mariem B — Google review
Having wanted to stay at Cameron House for some time, my wife arranged our stay as a birthday treat. I can honestly say, from the initial friendly welcome we received from our parking valet right through to our check out every member of staff was nothing short of excellent. A great balance of relaxed Scottish wit, yet respectful, to excellent service in the restaurants, bars, spa and house keeping. Would I return .. in a heartbeat .. and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Great staff, great food, great ambience. Thank you all for an amazing experience. Alistair and Lynn McM

Would love to be able to leave a positive review based on my experience but as the resort were unwilling to honour a £100 voucher I was gifted but unable to use due to multiple personal reason (including serious illness of partner and then death of a close relative) this was not possible (I accept they have a policy but there was no attempt to offer any solution other than ‘you can buy another voucher’). As a potential customer who has moved back to the local area, I will be unlikely to visit again myself or recommend the resort to visitors or business contacts based on this service.

We had a wonderful stay at Cameron House on Loch Lomond! The location is absolutely breathtaking — right on the edge of the lake with postcard-perfect views everywhere you look. The property beautifully combines Scottish heritage with modern luxury. Our room was elegant, comfortable, and spotless, with every detail thoughtfully designed. The staff were exceptional — warm, welcoming, and always eager to help. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options, and we especially loved the evening walks along the loch. It’s a place that truly lets you slow down, relax, and soak in nature’s beauty. We’re already looking forward to visiting again!

Stayed one night here for a business event. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, luxurious but traditional decor, beds comfy. The view I had out to Loch Lomond was fantastic. Good service and Scottish hospitality at check in / check out. Breakfast was good, maybe not quite as high as standard as the rest of the stay though, but thats being picky. Loads of EV chargers on site which were easiy to use

Myself and my friend came to celebrate birthdays. I am in a wheelchair and was in an accessible room. When we checked in only one room was ready so we asked where we could go for tea and cake. The receptionist sent us off to the bar only to be told tea and cakes were in the area beside the reception. Why she sent us to the bar I’ve no idea. She also said we had adjoining rooms but when we went back for the keys my friend was two floors away. The service was either great or lacking. We ate at la vista and the Cameron grill. Both were decent and food was good. The Main gripe I have was the room. It is so in need of a refresh. The tiles and grouting in the shower is quite disgusting. Carpet stained and room a bit grubby. I agree with everyone who says this is not 5 star. And for my needs there is one grab bar in the shower. I felt so unsafe to the point I didn’t have a shower the second day. The other thing is housekeeping didn’t turn down the first night. This may not be a big thing but just small things make a difference whether a hotel is on it or not. I found it difficult to close the curtains and turn down the bed so would have really appreciated it. I asked reception if I could have this the second night and put the service card on door. No one came which is so poor. We went to the spa and had a lovely time. I had a manicure and facial. The facial is one of the best I’ve ever had. The nail varnish did chip the next day which was a lot of money for less than 12 hours but it was a lovely experience at the time. I fed this back to the hotel but they didn’t respond. I guess they might with a public review with some well chosen words and look forward to welcoming me back. Just do better and sort yourself out. And buy some grout!

Came with my partner for dinner and we walked inside and looked for an empty table that was cleared of plates etc however there weren't any so we took a table and placed all the dirty stuff to the end. A sign on the table said to order using the app so we did. Soon after placing the order, a member of staff came to our table to inform us that they only had 1 steak left so one of us would have to change our order. I said I was happy to change mine and the guy said I would have to go with him to the bar to sort it out on the computer. I followed him to the bar and he said he would need to go get his manager. The manager appeared and I recognised this lady from a previous visit we had. She was not at all happy and didn't even acknowledge me standing there or make any eye contact. The guy then told her the issue and she swore and said this was going to take ages to fix. Without looking at me, she told me to go back to my seat as it would take a while. Eventually our food arrived and we asked for cutlery. The server pointed to the stuff at the end of the table which we had stacked and said there's cutlery there. We told him that was all the stuff from the previous diners. He went and got us clean cutlery but left the dirty stuff on the table. I asked where our drinks were and he said that we'd have to go get them ourselves as they were short staffed. My partner went to the bar and the barmaid was standing waiting for a customer. He asked if our drinks were coming and she just pointed to the drinks orders laid out and asked which one it was. So she made the order and my partner brought it back. We finished our meal and had already gave a tip due to paying via the app where it asks for a tip upfront. The manager never appeared with a resolution to the mix up to the order so no idea if I'll be getting a refund for the difference or not. Given the fact on each occasion I've been in when this manager has been on and we have had a bad experience we won't be back.

Trying to put a reasonable perspective on this. I have visited many times for drinks and the quiz. Decided to have dinner and was extremely disappointed. Order was taken down wrong and therefore wrong main served. One order was forgotten about, however the quality of the food was no better than 3/10 presentation poor and sauce served in a bowl, quality decidedly average. Another point is when you order drinks for example a Stella and it comes in a Carling glass. Ordered 4 over the night each in a different glass none of them in the Chalice!!! not great. Would I go back to the pub? Definitely. As for food I appreciate its ‘Pub Grub’ but spending over £50 on mains you expect better and will give it a miss in the future.

Waited over an hour for food and this is what I was served. Literal charcoal. What member of the kitchen cremated this and not only that allowed it to be served? Staff were unhelpful and ignoring my questions of where is our food? Horrific and will not be back.

Nestled on the serene banks of Loch Awe, St. Conan’s Kirk is a captivating church that showcases an eclectic mix of architectural styles, including Norman, Early Christian, and Gothic influences. Designed by Walter Douglas Campbell between 1881 and 1886, this charming structure features high vaulted ceilings adorned with intricate stone carvings that evoke the spirit of ancient Scottish churches.
What an absolutely magnificent sight. Gothic architecture at its best. The fact that there is a bone fracture of The Bruce is not half bad either! Very in keeping with the Gothic experience. This makes me think if Anna belle Lee in her sepulchre by the sea. An entire day could easily be spent here with a picnic by the water and this giant gothic building looking on. This entire part of the world is honestly enchanting.xx

Absolutely beautiful church building. The architecture and scenery was breathtaking! Nice little tearoom. A nice pit stop. Coffee cheap (and tasted it) but we were grateful for refreshment. Didn't notice a WC which was needed. Free entry, limited parking. Not too busy. We really love this spot.
Iona T — Google review
Drove for just over two hours to visit the kirk. Well worth it and no amount of pictures does this place justice. One thing to note... entry costs are a donation, some similar places like castles charge £18 to enter and this place can cenrtainly keep me amazed just as much as they can
Scott — Google review
Stunning church with so much history restoration work blends in perfectly no payment but you can donate with card which makes more sense as very few of us carry cash .Also take time to walk around the grounds and gardens beautiful views down Loch Awe .
Eddie M — Google review
Beautiful building, and worth visiting if in the area. Free entry but donations welcome as the upkeep of the building is substantial. We visited at Halloween so decorations were up along with some smoke and spooky lighting coming from the crypt.

The kirk sits on the shores of Loch Awe which makes for a magnificent setting. The stained glass windows are beautiful and the detail of each is unbelieveable. The details were hard to capture with the camera so I hope I did them justice with my photos. The real suprise was the effigy of Robert the Bruce. A magnificent sculpture carved of wood and alabaster. It took me by surprise as I had done almost no research on the contents of the kirk. I felt like he was sleeping right next to me, just waiting to come out of his slumber. This is one of the best kept secrets in Scotland. An absolute must see.

One of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen. We drove the entire country on our recent trip and this is one of the highlights of the entire journey. Couldn’t recommend it more.
Ken M — Google review
beautiful kirk with lots of history. They have a kirk Kitty and a fragment of a bone from Robert the Bruce. In the room that set next to the chapel are board filled with the history of the church. the back door leads to a beautiful overlook of the loch. The parking lot is very small, so please plan accordingly. Definitely worth the visit

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the River Teith, Roman Camp Hotel is a charming retreat that beautifully marries history with modern luxury. Originally a hunting lodge for the Dukes of Perth and once frequented by Queen Victoria, this elegant property boasts tastefully designed rooms and suites. Guests can indulge in an exquisite dining experience at the upscale restaurant, which has earned accolades for its culinary excellence. For a more relaxed atmosphere, The Potting Shed offers delightful brunches and lunches amidst lovely gardens.
Had a very relaxing 2 night stay here while recovering from surgery. All the staff were so helpful and friendly and when relaxing in the lounge (drawing room) they popped in from time to time to see if we required anything. Some reviewers have called the decor tired, but I generally would call it in keeping with the history of the place. Although some areas could benefit from a refresh, this did not detract from my enjoyment of my visit. The food was excellent both at breakfast and at the Potting Shed bistro in the grounds for an evening meal. Here the ambience at night was excellent with great food, candlelight, well place downlighting and pleasant, unobtrusive music. Have booked to return again for a short stay in late Spring and really looking forward to seeing the beautiful gardens with some colour.

Ate at the restaurant last night, and it was quite certainly the best dining experience we have had in a long long time. Superb ambiance. Exceptional service. Creative and delicious food. Would highly recommend this place to others. Just sad that we did not discover it decades ago!!
Freie G — Google review
We booked Roman Camp Hotel last minute as a place to stop on our journey north. We booked the small double room with dinner and breakfast. Room was small but as described so no problems here and had a lovely outlook on the gardens. The food at the 3 course dinner, including canapés, and a cooked breakfast were 5 star and service throughout was impeccable. Really enjoyed exploring the hotel grounds and spending time in the communal areas like the library and drawing room, both of which had a fire going. We will definitely return.
Fiona C — Google review
Historic rustic elegance. Like stepping back in time. The gardens needed a bit of tending due to some staffing issues but still beautiful despite that and it is also fall so things naturally die back. The staff was wonderful from the hotel to the potting shed. I plan to return one day and would highly recommend. Was sad they are having to remove the peacocks I think they should stay.

Our daughter and son-in-law recently held their wedding here. The hotel was beautiful and perfect for their day. We stayed for the weekend and every meal was excellent. The entire staff went out of their way to make this an extra special memory for us all. I would like to thank every one of you and highly recommend.

After a long overdue stay to the Roman Camp we were not disappointed. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Lunch in the potting shed was brilliant and well priced. Dinner in the main restaurant was amazing and we were well looked after. Cannot recommend highly enough. Will hopefully not wait as long for the next visit

Just had a lovely stay here. The food was absolutely exceptional, both the restaurant dinner plus the breakfast. Would definitely stay on route past and do the 3 course dinner again!

We have now enjoyed our third fabulous visit to the Roman Camp Hotel. We had a feshly prepared lunch in the Potting Shed, a casual dining bistro in the grounds . We then enjoyed a memorable evening dinner in the hotel. A special thank you to Dan, a real asset, he was friendly, attentive and had an impressive knowledge of the food and drink. We look forward to returning.

Inchcailloch is a charming, hilly island nestled in the heart of Loch Lomond, easily accessible via ferry from Balmaha and Luss. This lush, wooded paradise invites visitors to explore its nature trails, including the scenic Millennium Forest Path. As part of the Loch Lomond National Nature Reserve, Inchcailloch offers two well-marked walking routes—the Low Path and Summit Path—each taking about 45 minutes to traverse.
We spent several hours here birding and hiking all the trails. Beautiful view from the top of the island. Got here by ferry by Cruise Loch Lomond. We even saw a white deer on the island!

Lovely locale, the campsite was quite good for an overnight stay and there was enough walking to fill a long afternoon. Great views from almost every angle as well, I recommend the summit. Just make you sure you dress for ticks, check the midge forecast, and brace yourself for the composting toilet!

Lovely trip to the island, very friendly staff. We walked for ages and enjoyed every little bit, believe or not we had 4G with EE. View were amazing, fresh air. History was great also. The boat that took us here had a class captian who also sang.

Beautiful view from summit point, worth the walk up. Managed to complete the circuit in around 1.5 hours (I saunter rather than walk...) Love a boat ride and that.

Well worth a visit. We crossed on the ferry from Bahama. We had a guided tourof the island, with an excellent guide, but there are information points and you can download a map to get your own information. We walked to the summit and round the island and to the burial ground, at a leisurely pace, in less than 2 hours, with 3 geriatrics in our group.

Perch Café Restaurant, located in Balmaha at Loch Lomond Waterfront, is a dog-friendly spot offering delicious brunches, lunches, and cakes. The café has a cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and serves homemade food with a focus on sustainability. Visitors can enjoy treats like doggie ice cream for their furry companions.
A pretty nice Café - cosy atmosphere - awfully nice staff - great home made food with a sense for sustainability. Before we even had ordered anything we were brought a bottle of chilled water. The cake bar looks very promising, but i was more in the mood for a tasty bun. I could write a lot about this Café but it would finally sum up to: If you ever come to Loch Lomond - you should really get in here for a cuppa or a snack.

Very nice restaurant in a remote area. The pulled pork tasted quite good. Only 4 stars due to it was cold and not heated up. Free Wi-Fi. Fantastic spot if you’re hiking and in need of a break!

Super cute wee oasis! The breakfast was delicious and there's homemade jams, scones and cakes as well. I'll be back for the lunch menu next time! There's also parking available for customers, but it's also only a few minutes walk from the Conic Hill car park. So yummy!!! 😋

Conic Hill is a fantastic destination for families who enjoy hill walking. This small but mighty hill stands at 361m high and offers stunning 360-degree views, particularly across Loch Lomond and as far as the Arrochar Alps. The walk begins at a large public car park in the village of Balmaha, which is accessible by cars and buses from nearby Drymen.
Quite steep but easy if you take your time and prepare properly, took around two hours to get up and down again. Cracking views across the south side of Loch Lomond from as low down as halfway, on a clear day you can see for miles. Easy parking for a small price at the start of the trail.
LM — Google review
We were staying in Stirling and went on a day trip to see this area. We decided last minute to climb Conic hill since it wasn’t raining. It was rewarding climb to the summit with spectacular panoramic views across Loch Lomond and the islands. There were sheep in the pasture. It was very windy at the summit!
Catherine H — Google review
Absolutely stunning views, worth every single step. We were very lucky with the weather, so the trail was mostly dry, but it can definitely get and stay a bit muddy after rain. The first part of the ascent goes through a forest area. The steepest part is toward the very top of the hill, on a path that heads off to the right from one of the viewpoints up to the highest viewpoint. Much recommended for hiking enthusiasts!
Sara M — Google review
Loved this place to hike. The views both from on the way and the top were amazing (in clear weather).
Binod M — Google review
Conic Hill was part of our second day hiking the West Highland Way. It rained the entire walk up and down. The views at the top are impressive. Take care on the way down especially if there’s rain. The rock steps can be tricky to navigate.

That was a great peak for people who loves hiking and nature. Astonishing landscape! You may enjoy Loch Lomond view, when you arrived the peak of Conic!

Nestled in the picturesque village of Tarbet, the Tarbet Hotel offers a delightful retreat with stunning views of Loch Lomond and its surroundings. This charming establishment is housed in an impressive baronial building adorned with turrets and spires, reflecting its rich history that dates back centuries. Guests can enjoy spacious rooms designed for relaxation, along with a variety of dining options including a restaurant and several cozy lounges. The hotel also features a lively bar where visitors can unwind while enjoying live entertainment.
Just had the best sticky toffee pudding at the Tarbet!! Arrived at 9.15pm and asked the lady at reception if we could have some desserts, the woman told us unfortunately the kitchen had closed at 9pm. A chef then popped out and said he would make 5 of us a dessert no problem (I think his name was Ryan!?). Amazing service from the chef as we did not expect to be served after the kitchen closed, he is clearly happy to go above and beyond. Will definitely be back.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. For its age, it's still in pretty good shape. Could use some TLC in certain areas but it was comfortable. Food was good and the breakfast had a good selection. It's walking distance to the boat tours and has plenty of parking. Nice bar and staff. We would stay there again if coming back to this area.

Location wise 5 star. Absolutely beautiful. Cleanliness of the rooms however... that leaves a lot to be desired! The word filthy springs to mind. Shower tray overflowing, the drain clogged with copious amounts of hair and soap scum. The floor itself was filthy. I spent 5 minutes cleaning with toilet roll and water. Needless to say we were walking on towels for the night. Breakfast was an array of rotten fresh produce, overcooked sausages and beans that had been left uncovered and hard pastries. Customer service 2 star. Upon discussion with the manager Claire Mulgrew a 50% refund was offered however this was never followed through upon and a complementary stay was offered instead. Over all a poor show from what could be an amazing venue if managed correctly.
Chelle — Google review
Hotel on outside looks great. Rooms a bit tired, gone over with many coats of paint and silicone in shower. Saying that was pretty clean. Went to boil the kettle, black bits in there - someone had emptied a tea bag in there obviously.... Worst thing - bed - like a sack of potatoes - firm/uncomfortable and felt the springs underneath - asked if we could swap rooms but nothing available - worst three nights sleep we've ever had. Staff pretty friendly tho, the hotel was pretty clean but needs updating in places. Didn't eat here - much better food down the road at cu mara - definitely visit there.. Bar new seating but the cushions were again like concrete. Asked for a cocktail - just didn't seem like the bar staff wanted to make a bloody Mary - literally 3 ingredients - went to put it through and looked and said he didn't have chilli oil - not sure what he was making. Breakfast tbf was quite nice - enjoyed the square sausage, beans and link sausages - coffee was a strong hit but I liked it. Location was great for getting to different areas and never had a issue with parking. Views were good and the weather was nice so we did a lot of hiking. Firkin point close by as was conic hill if u wanted to make the trip to Dumbarton.

Called in for a drink after a day out in the area. Range of beers and whisky was a little disappointing, but you will find something to satisfy your thirst. Super friendly guy behind the bar who made us feel very welcome. Lovely seating area with clean and fresh decor and a relaxed feel to the place. Reasonable prices too, especially for a hotel.
James H — Google review
Stayed here for 2 nights, I’m glad it was no longer. However, it is a good location, plenty of parking, well heated and the bed was comfy. Staff really friendly and making an effort with all customers. Dinners are higher quality than the breakfasts (I don’t know why they use better quality and fresher ingredients at dinner but not at breakfast!), neither are exciting. Overall the hotel is still a slightly better standard than your average hotel like Premier Inn. I have stayed in the nearby Arrochar Hotel and on balance would go back there instead next time.
Katherine M — Google review
We did have a comfortable stay, but the hotel is in definite need of some maintenance work. There were literal buckets catching water in the hallways and clear evidence of previous water damage on ceilings. Our shower had very little heat or power and the bottle of shower gel was just kind of left on the floor - no presentation or finesse. One of our mugs needed replacing as it was chipped. There were some dead wasps on our window seat/ledge. Our wardrobe also smelt like a heavy smoker had spent an hour in it. We didn't have a chair for the desk. The linen felt a bit thin. All relatively small things in isolation, but they all add up to detract from the overall guest experience. We booked via booking.com and got a discounted genius rate for bed and breakfast at £144 for a superior double room. At this price, we felt we had a good deal for a decent night's sleep and a relatively decent enough breakfast. But had we paid the full price of £170+, it would have been very overpriced. I see on their website that some of these rooms go for over £230 and it is most definitely not worth that! If they did a little bit of sprucing up, it could be a wonderful place to stay as the location is good and the staff seem nice. We didn't eat in the restaurant or use the bar on this occasion so can't comment on those aspects, but the public areas looked busy and had a nice vibe.
Livvy — Google review
This hotel sits in a glorious situation on Loch Lomond, less than 2 minutes walk from the Loch Lomond cruise jetty. The exterior of the hotel and the views from it are breathtaking. If you're passing, stop for a drink or something to eat, enjoy the views and then move on. The accommodation here is nightmarish. Take the lift, apparently safe for 6, according to the manufacturer, but from the handwritten note safe for only two. It's lined with carpet from floor to ceiling that looks and smells like it's from the 1960s. We had room 124 originally. It was dirty and painted a shade of baby nappy content throughout. The windows were screwed shut and couldn't be opened. This was apparently unknown to the staff when we asked to change after one night. The room was basic with virtually no storage anywhere in the bathroom, which didn't seem to have been cleaned recently - the shower plug was full of hair. We moved to a another room, 228, mainly because it had windows that could be opened to allow air in. This room was similarly dated and unclean, with marks on walls, loose plug socket covers and an unpleasant smell throughout. Breakfast was, quite frankly, a joke. A buffet with everything left to congeal into either a warm mass or dried out beyond edibility. The staff were pleasant but totally without any direction or investment in making the hotel welcoming or visitor friendly. Tables in the breakfast room or bar were not cleared for hours - especially those outside the building and out of sight. In summary, the hotel looks great but smells bad and leaves you feeling that everything you have taken inside needs a good wash. If you want the views, park your car nearby and sleep in it - it'll be more comfortable.

20Loch Lomond Waterfront - Luxury Scottish lodges with hot tubs

Lodge
Loch Lomond Waterfront in Balmaha offers luxurious lodges and chalets with fully equipped kitchens and private hot tubs, set on an 18-acre lakefront resort with a private beach. The property features a variety of accommodations including chalets, lodges, honeymoon suites, and diamond lodges, all offering self-catering options. With stunning views over the loch, these dog-friendly lodges can accommodate between two to six people.
A tranquil oasis in Paradise This was our second holiday at the Waterfront. Last year we had a lodge, which we thoroughly enjoyed, but this year, as I have several health issues, we stayed at one of the chalets. We found this to be perfect- no stairs to scale at night & everything on one level. The chalet seemed just as big as the lodge & didn’t feel at all cramped. The living area is light & spacious with large windows & doors opening onto the patio area, overlooking the Loch and complete with a hot tub which is checked daily. The bedrooms were slightly smaller than the lodge’s, but just as well equipped & there are 3 bathrooms in the chalet. The kitchen has a dishwasher & coffee maker- complete with a supply of dishwasher tabs & coffee & is very well equipped indeed. It is a delightful setting and if you seek a peaceful break in 5* surroundings , look no further . We hope to return again next year.

Loch Lomond Waterfront is absolutely beautiful! We got married there in 2017 and came back this past July with our kids. The lodges are lovely, clean, and well stocked. The location is stunning. The serene property and beautiful accommodations offer a beautiful escape from every day life.
Heather L — Google review
The accommodation posed as five-star luxury holiday rental, but the two lodges we stayed at were aged and poorly maintained, not to mention that so many facilities inside were broken or malfunctioning. The drainage in the shower didn't work, making it impossible to take a shower downstairs. The joinery work in the bathroom were broken or falling in several places. The water pressure was extremely poor and prevented my family from being able to take showers simultaneously, or even using a tap or flush a toilet while a shower is running. Our mattress was sunken and did not feel five star. The surroundings were pretty and well kept, and accessibility to local amenities and tourist attractions was good. There were not much services provided during our stay. And none of these issues reported could be solved before we left. Overall we feel that the lodges were over-advertised, and and that the lodges were not worth the money we paid for.
Yun-Yu C — Google review
Overall a disappointing stay considering the large cost to stay at the lodges. Overall felt cat fished with the dated and damaged interior ranging from damaged kitchen work surface and poorly maintained appliances to the DIY vibe of the bathroom and mold in the shower. Also has issues with hot tub but that was swiftly dealt with. I commend the clean presentation of the lodge which was good for our 18 month old when crawling around. Luckily we didn’t stay much in the lodge on our stay due to the amazing views but if you want to treat yourself to somewhere nice look elsewhere
Ben J — Google review
As other reviewers have said we also had a poor experience with the lodge we stayed in (mellerstain). The lodge is very dated and tired. All furnishing are old, outdated and mostly damaged. It is clear no money is being returned back into the lodges to update them. The lodge smelled strongly of bleach when we walked in and give them their due it did feel clean. However this is advertised as “luxury” “5 star” but it is anything but. For £400 per night for self catering you expect up to date appliances, luxury furnishings and a cosy lodge feel. It was our honeymoon and unfortunately was ruined. The walls were dirty/scuffed, paint was peeling off the radiators, mirrors were damaged, kitchen very outdated, air con control hanging off wall, door mats ripped in half, wooden skirtings all damaged, carpet very worn down. The alarm clock from the 90’s sent me over the edge…very “luxury”. Very dated bathrooms. The wood on the balcony’s is not treated or painted so it is rotting and looks unsafe. No chairs on balconies to sit out. I suspect this is a tourist trap due to location but nothing lives up to “luxury” with the interior. There was no management on when we arrived so we notified the handyman that we would be leaving (he was very kind but had no authority to help us). We got swiftly refunded which was great but very telling in that this isn’t the first time they’ve had to do this. Feel sorry for tourists expecting more.

My family (with my wife and our 3 kids) recently had a fantastic stay here. The most striking features are the incredible tranquillity, the stunning view of the lake with surrounding mountains and forests, the lovely view of the Conic Hill on the background, and absence of crowds. We stayed in Mellerstain lodge which is just right at the entrance of Loch Lomond Waterfront site. Although the house is not new, it is pretty clean and well-maintained, and filled with all the necessary stuff for a family of five, and it made us really feel at home. This area is not crowded compared with other attraction sites around the Loch Lomond such as Luss, Tarbet or Balloch where there are so much crowds that you can't enjoy the nature. But here are so many things about peace and quietness. The shore is right at the back of the site and there is like a private shore for this lodge, and so there is no one else apart from the people staying at the lodges. It was so quite, peaceful and tranquil. We had so peaceful walks at the shore every morning, listening all the birds' chirpings. The surrounding was so quite that we could even hear the birds from the islands. At night, we had fantastic star-gazing because there was no light pollution, it was the clearest sky I have ever seen for star-gazing. (We were lucky enough to have an unbelievably good weather though.) The view of Conic Hill was amazing on the background of the lodges. If we weren't with the kids, we would do hiking to the top of this Hill (it was so close to the lodges). The lodge is also close to Balloch where we went for water sports. Again it is quite close to the beautiful Balmaha village. The only thing is the phone reception is not great in this area, and the Wi-Fi is not very good. Although it is not the most important thing for a holiday, there are times when the kids want to play games and it was not great. This is one thing the owner can improve. All in all, it was one of the best family holidays we have ever had. We will come back again in the future. 100% recommended.

Echoing other people’s sentiments - there’s nothing luxury about this place. We wanted a quiet peaceful place to stay so chose the shepherd’s hut at £140/night. It’s too expensive for what you get. Initially it’s impossible to find your hut if you arrive after dark: there’s no one to meet you and there are no signs within the park - we stumbled around until we happened to find our hut. The only map you receive is a pdf doc. There’s no map when you arrive on site and no lighting to help you see where you are. They are not private - we had a footpath literally that went under the window by our bed so you’re constantly hearing footsteps going past. In fact people are so close that we were convinced they were trying to get into our hut. The “outdoor space” is a plastic bench right in front of the hut, adjacent to the path and in a garden bit that is shared with 2 lodges. The luxury local handmade soap they brag about is a mini hotel bar of soap mass produced in Kent. No flatscreen TV despite it being listed on the website. The fridge broke and the freezer defrosted. The hut is very warm which I appreciate is great for the winter but too hot for summer and the heating constant reset itself back to 21C. Situated so close to the other lodges that if they were out using their outdoor space it was like they were literally sitting outside our bathroom having a party. The whole hut rocks when someone is brushing their teeth. There was mould around the shower. I mean - it wasn’t unpleasant and had it been cheaper I wouldnt have bothered to leave a review but it certainly isn’t worth £140. As someone else said - they have you hoodwinked when they tell you it’s relaxing, luxury, peaceful, tranquil, private. It’s basically an expensive holiday park with no facilities, no outdoor space and a footpath that you can walk down to the lake.

We spent two nights here during our Scotland road trip, and it was simply fantastic. Andrea is a wonderful host who makes you feel truly welcome. Her breakfast is a solid 10/10! 🤩 The rooms are clean and comfortably furnished. Definitely recommended!

Gowanlea Guest House is a wonderful place to stay! We arrived very late with delays to the already belated check in, but were greated really friendly and warm. We got the room to the street, which is really spacious and still very quiet. The bed was super comfy! There are a lot of breakfast options to choose from, it's fresh made with local products and everything we tried was delicious (and a lot!). Thank you for the nice stay :)

Brilliant place to stay for a night in Balloch on our way up further north. Andrea is a brilliant host who took excellent care of us, including accommodating our dietary requirements (gluten free and vegetarian). She provided gluten free biscuits and snacks, and a fully gluten free breakfast! This place is such great value, I fully recommend it.

Over the last decade, we have spent nights in different places, ranging from five-start hotels to farm nobody. The Gowanlea Guest House was definitely one of the best. Best one-word descriptor would be "charming." Beautiful house and accommodations, comfortable, great location, good food and a wonderful, friendly hostess. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Situated in a peaceful setting near Loch Lomond, it's an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts with The Trossachs National Park just steps away. Guests have praised the warm and cosy atmosphere of the cottage, along with the friendly welcome from host John.
What a delightful visit to this guesthouse! John is such a brilliant host--kind, a great sense of humor, and genuinely motivated to make our visit to the area perfect--and the house was perfectly appointed. I really enjoyed the gardens and his birdfeeding station, and breakfast was delicious and filling enough we could skip lunch! I will return if we're in the area again.

I rarely award a full five stars—but this guesthouse is a rare exception. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. John, who looked after us during our stay, was outstanding—warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and was always available to answer questions or offer recommendations. The guesthouse itself was immaculate. Every detail, from the bedding to the bathroom, was thoughtfully maintained. The room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed, with a calm, welcoming ambiance. Breakfast was another highlight, with a generous selection of options that were both hearty and delicious. It’s clear a lot of care goes into the guest experience here. The location is serene and picturesque, offering stunning mountain views and a peaceful river flowing nearby. It’s an ideal base if you're exploring Glencoe or the surrounding Highlands by car. In short, this is a pristine, quiet, and beautifully situated guesthouse, made exceptional by both its setting and the personal touch of its host. Highly recommended.

Very lovely. We stayed only one night during our roadtrip but we really appreciated this calm and peaceful place. The view from our bedroom was beautiful, homemade shortbreads were waiting for us when we arrived there. Jon is a very nice host and is very helpful. The breakfast was incredible, and we even saw a red squirrel while eating! You can stop without hesitation!

Booking.com wouldn’t let me leave a review, so here it is. This was a great stay in every way. The local super and walkable to town, the en-suite room comfy and well-appointed, the breakfast generous and tasty. But best of all was the host, John. He is warm, gracious and witty. And I think his driving in Scotland tips are going to save me from getting into an accident! Thank you so much, John! Way higher than five stars from me!

Just stayed for a one night B&B at John and Jan’s lovely guest house, and would highly recommend. We felt welcome and at home from that start. John is very friendly and hospitable, and the room was super clean and fresh with fantastic views. An absolutely great cooked breakfast in the morning set us up for a long journey into the Highlands. Thanks so much!

**Review of Finlas View Lodge, Loch Lomond** We recently stayed at Finlas View Lodge in Loch Lomond, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of our expectations, particularly with respect to the management's responsiveness to basic comfort and cleanliness concerns. Upon arrival, we found a significant number of flies in the rooms and shower room upstairs in the property, which indicated a lack of thorough cleaning before our stay. The manager came to ‘fix’ this issue by hoovering dead and alive flies. On the first night alone, we discovered approximately 50 flies and continued to discover more the following 2 days between the double bedroom, the other upstairs bedroom and shower room. We understand that a rural location naturally comes with insect life, but the volume we encountered suggested a more serious issue. Additionally, a wasp nest on the property was spotted and highlighted to management, presenting a notable hazard, leading to one of our group members getting stung and forcing us to keep doors and windows shut to avoid further incidents. Unfortunately, we were not provided with any fly spray or other means to deal with these pests. Basic amenities also proved to be problematic. For example, we discovered that the dishwasher had been left uncleaned, requiring us to sanitise it before use. This oversight further suggested a lack of attention to detail in preparing the property for guests. Another critical issue was the heating, which made the property uncomfortably warm, especially at night. Management’s suggestion to "simply open the windows" was unrealistic due to the wasp and fly issues, which prevented us from ventilating the space properly. We also encountered issues with hot water availability on our last day, adding to the overall discomfort. When we raised these concerns with the management, we felt our feedback was dismissed without genuine consideration. Overall, while we appreciate the scenic location of Finlas View, we were disappointed by the lack of basic comfort and responsiveness, which overshadowed what could have been a relaxing stay. Ultimately, we can no longer consider Finlas View Lodge as an option for future stays. It could have changed our perspective if the owner had shown any level of responsibility or offered an apology. However, they seemed uninterested in addressing our concerns once they had pocketed our money. We recommend avoiding this property, especially if you're travelling with family, as there is little assurance that issues like wasp nests or cleanliness will be handled responsibly. NB. We were returning customers after a pleasant experience staying in the Oak Lodge earlier this year. I cannot in good faith give this business any repeat business and would urge others to rethink booking. You may not be as unlucky as us on our stay but, if you encounter any issues, don’t expect for the management or owner to handle any concerns properly.

Fantastic place away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life, but close enough drive to Balloch and Helensburgh if you fancy a little shopping or scenic views. Pet friendly and The Cottages are well equipped and clean. Fully equipped kitchen if you fancy cooking dinner, plus a fridge to store any snacks. Theres also a washing machine and tumble dryer available and if you ask the housekeeping staff will give you tablets and softener to do any washing. Also there is Tennis court on site so you can play some tennis. It was a really pleasant little place and all the staff couldn't be more helpful.

We had an amazing stay at Loch Lomand Luxury Lodges. The house was very clean and well maintained. Ken and Mike were extremely friendly and welcoming. The Sauna and Jacuzzi were an absolute bonus especially after a long day exploring and walking around. The house was really well equipped and there was a lovely welcoming basket on arrival. There was plenty of information provided on local activities, places to eat etc. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and look forward to returning. Thank you to Ken, Mike and their families for a lovely stay.

We stayed in The Wee Acorn Pod for two nights. The site is gated and set in well maintained peaceful grounds. The Pod exceeded my expectations. It was spotless, spacious and luxurious with it's own parking, with a welcome pack of prosecco and chocolate. Milk, tea and coffee are also provided. There is a slight noise from the main road, but the sounds of the birds and nature outweigh this. Robes are provided and the hot tub is under cover and checked daily. There is also an outdoor seating area which is partially under cover and a BBQ. Friendly staff welcome you on arrival and are very informative and helpful about their site, local attractions and places to eat. I would highly recommend.

Stayed here late Aug 2025. Team were amazing, professional, and very helpful. We stayed in Ben which easily sleeps 6. The whole lodge was spacious and very clean on arrival, and we loved the little welcome basket. During our week there we enjoyed the hot tub, which fortunately is under cover, together with outdoor furniture (it rained a lot!). In terms of location you really need a car to access almost everything, as even the nearest supermarket is some distance away. The lodges are behind a secure gate, but are adjacent to the A811, and unfortunately we were bothered by the traffic noise. However we had a lovely family break and can’t thank the team enough for their hospitality.

We loved this place! Such a great location for Loch Lomond - hill walking, sightseeing and visiting cute local coffee shops and places to eat and drink. The accommodation is 5* and hot tubs are excellent. Always spotlessly clean. We can’t wait to return again. The finishing touches are lovely too! From our pod we could see deer in the woods which was lovely - and we also got a glimpse of the northern lights.. Perfect trip.
Danielle — Google review
The lodges and pods here are set back off the main road and are only accessible via an electric gate. The setting is lovely with clean, well maintained grounds and separate parking for each property. We stayed in the Wee Acorn pod which had a covered hot tub right next to it. Both the pod and the hot tub were very private and the front of the pod had an overhang to provide a sheltered outside seating area. The inside of the pod was spotless and very well equipped. It was actually more spacious than I expected, especially the lounge/seating area. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent. The staff were super friendly and helpful as well. There is a bit of road noise due to the proximity of the main road but we didn't find this too intrusive. If you want to stay in a pod that has everything, this is it!

Recently back from a girls weekend away and had a great time at Loch Lomond Luxury. The lodge itself was so spacious, homely and comfortable that it made it ideal for our weekend catch up, and the wet weather. Great having the hot tub there too, which we used a lot. The team were very helpful both before and after arrival and the lodge had lots of information about the local area. Would highly recommend and will hopefully return in the future.

Property Bureau Helensburgh was wonderful in helping us secure our new flat. They were lightning fast getting everything ready, and we had our keys and lease signed before I could blink. What can I say! What a wonderful Team Property Bureau in Helensburgh are. Just wanted to share my great experience in dealing with them over the last 12/13 years. My most recent experience was as a Landlord which Victoria dealt with very quickly and efficiently and thereafter the sale. It is hard to believe just how smoothly things went. All credit to Victoria for the speed in which she managed to move things along. Over the years I have had the good fortune to purchase property, let property and sell property through them and in all the different scenarios the service provided was outstanding. I must give a special mention to Victoria for the efficiency with which she carries out her role. She is very obliging and nothing is too much trouble. Andrew also has the same knack of making everything go smoothly and seem effortless. Recently they secured a sale for my property in a total timescale of 9 weeks which included the marketing/sale and date of entry. Absolutely amazing! I just can’t praise them enough for the first class service they provide. Thank you Property Bureau. Hazel Knapman

Myself and family had a great stay at the corrie lodge over the weekend. The lodge was spotless, modern and very comfortable. Also was very nice to receive a bottle of champagne from the hosts. Location is perfect and peaceful. A short drive away from some great places to visit. The only thing would be the wood burning hot tub does take a long time to heat up and to make this stay perfect it would have been amazing for this to be already burning away and ready for us on arrival. The living room and kitchen at the Coorie is great, with the view and the log fire it really is a special place. Only slight downside is the small double bedroom downstairs and no lamps in the house. However we would still return and recommend to others. We climbed Ben A’an and visited the local waterfall- would recommend both. In addition Mhor Bakery on Callander high street was great as was the Waverley and over at Port of Mentieth Nick Nairn’s was lovely for lunch. Will definitely return.

Lovely lodge in a beautiful setting. The welcome champagne was a nice touch! Great base for exploring the area by car. Would definitely come back!
Alex M — Google review
The lodges are amazing, we rented both for our wedding at Loch Venachar and they were perfect for this. The hot tub was amazing and the location is incredible. The space for Carsaig in particular is perfect. The only slight drawbacks: -the lock on the main bathroom door doesn’t work. -the oven might be the single worst oven I’ve ever used. The lodges were very expensive and I’m not sure we’d normally be willing to pay that price, but with our wedding next door they were the perfect base for us.

Coorie is beautifully designed and presented. Stunning location and the walks around lake Venachar are idyllic. The hot tub and bbq, with the outdoor seating was amazing. The lodge had all the provisions and is very tastefully designed. We would happily return! Thank you. RG & family

Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Loch Katrine, the eco pods at Trossachs Pier offer a comfortable and cozy glamping experience. The dog-friendly pods come with en suite facilities and are well-equipped with amenities such as heating, TV, and even heated floors. Despite the lack of wifi and phone signal, guests can enjoy the tranquility of the area, especially during quieter midweek stays.
Absolutely stunning location. Pods were warm and well equipped. This was pur 3rd visit this year and each tomt it appears to get better. We were there 2 nights with heavy snow on day 2 closing all the roads. A few of the staff had made it in and were ever so friendly and caring. We stayed on one of the en-suite pods with super comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Loved my stay in Loch Katrine pod, the location is stunning and the staff in the booking offices, boats, gift shop and cafe all so friendly and helpful. The pod was clean, warm, cosy and comfortable, best bathroom I've seen in a pod, spacious with a great walk in shower. I look forward to a return visit, maybe with a bit more sunshine to better enjoy the lovely deck area

Lovely Glen Eco Lodges pods and amazing showers. Only think I didn't like was the sofa bed as It was not very comfortable. That is why I gave 4 star instead of 5 We did find it too hot to sleep. Needed a fan to cool us down. We should have looked in cupboard next to plates as there is a fan in there but didn't realise that untill the morning we Where leaving. At least we know now for next time we stay. The fridge is a good size for few can drinks and some food like bacon ,eggs sausages and chocolates .

Spent two days here and enjoyed the experience. Our eco-pod was lovely, warm and clean. Scenery and walks nearby are amazing. Boat trips are available from Loch Katrine. Experienced a few midges on our last evening. Internet is not good, so don't go expecting to get online. Lovely eateries nearby

We had a great short break . Eco Lodge was fab ,staff were lovely, location was stunning, will defo return. Seen some reviews about poor WiFi Personally I was more than happy with the lack of WiFi, It was refreshing to get away from it all
Tom W — Google review
We had a wonderful few days in one if the Ben lodges there. The staff were very welcoming and we were able to get into our pod a little early. The loch cruise was very interesting and expertly explained in a gorgeous island accent. The staff at the Cafe were also very accomodating and friendly. Our lodge needed a wee midge net repaired on our back window so we could aerate the pod without attracting the midges into the pod . Overall a really enjoyable experience in a very beautiful setting. We hope to return.

Huge thanks to the team on site who found a space for me! With 50mph winds forecast, lots of rain, and all my gear already sodden, it was a delight to have a night or respite at the eco pods. The pods are immaculate, have everything you need and are warm!!!

Finnich Cottages are a collection of casual rural accommodations set in a converted 19th-century building near Glasgow. These family-friendly cottages offer well-equipped kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable beds. The property is located next to a golf course and within a short drive from popular attractions such as Loch Lomond, The Trossachs National Park, and Glengoyne Distillery.
A farm compound turned into a few nice, higher end apartments for rent. Well designed, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you need to male food, clean and even have guests. Comfy beds, quiet location, not too far from Loch Lomond. My only quibble is that they require that you undo all the linen, towels etc., clean and wash the dishes etc upon checkout. For the price they could be more lenient and have cleaning services do that fir the guests after checkout. Otherwise highly recommended!
ליהוא ז — Google review
Good location for exploring the Loch Lomond region. Accommodation provides all the basics but could be even better with a bit of an update on furniture. Be aware that the there is a charge of £50 for the hot tub!

We were getting married at Killearn Village Hall and wanted a space that both our families could stay in without getting under each others feet. We rented all four cottages and it was absolutely amazing! We could jump between the cottages with loads of space for prepping big family meals. There was lots of light and space for getting ready the morning of the wedding and the games room was a great added extra the next day when we all had delicate heads...Beds were super comfy, the cottages gor really warm and cosy and they had everything we needed. We would 100% stay here again and really loved how quiet and secluded it felt.
Victoria H — Google review
Lovely cosy cottages that are hidden away from main areas. Have a private drive and parking which looks onto to some lovely views. I was met by Martin who showed us to our cottages an was given a lovely welcome pack. Included teas, biscuits, local milk and butter an a bottle of wine. They also went the extra mile an provided us with dog bowls, dog towels and even added treats for the dogs. The room was well presented an clean. Good wifi access. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely little cottage, welcoming an friendly atmosphere. Greeted with a hamper with bread wine an coffee inside. Very comfortable bed an fantastic cooking facility. Beautiful views out of the windows 😍

This would have been 5 stars but notices yesterday they had debited a further 50 pound from my account no correspondence from the owners. I contacted them to ask why. Apparently for a cleaning fee. Ridiculous as we left the place tidy. All dishes done, beds made and all rubbish in bags. Awaiting photographic evidence of this alleged mess! This happened to anyone else? I have just received photos of my we got charged a cleaning fee. A towel left on the stool, one cup in the sink and the sofa bed covers folded and laid on the couch, the rubbish wasn't recycled but was put into bags and tied as we didn't see the bins. Ridiculous and a con obviously making extra money during quiet season. Please be aware of this before you book here. Shame as the location was beautiful!

And a very thoughtful home made tablet take away. The views from the outside seating are great, and our lab pup Kimbo loved the field on the doorstep…. Muiredge in Perth and Kinross, Central Scotland offers a unique glamping experience on a 1-acre rural property. Guests can choose to stay in a converted railway carriage, shepherd's hut, or bell tent for a blissful retreat in the Scottish countryside. The glamping site provides well-spaced accommodations with phenomenal uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills and countryside.
Such a stunning spot with a great view of the hills, so peaceful, and only just over an hour drive from Edinburgh. I stayed in a cabin for the weekend and it was comfortable, well organised, and so easy to be there. Just a couple of miles from shops, restaurants etc in Auchterarder. Definitely recommend it
Mel H — Google review
This place is amazing! We are picky and don’t leave reviews often, but felt I needed to for Muiredge. They’ve thought of all the little touches, are really welcoming and have created a special place. Highly recommend. They have a huge ‘barn’ with sofas, a fridge, a stove and a darts board too! Great for families and groups.
Kate A — Google review
Our 4th time staying at Muiredge. Everything was excellent as usual. Such an amazing location, exceptionally kitted out accomodation, a barn full of all the home comforts you will ever need and the most welcoming and helpful host you could hope for. Highly recommend
Jim K — Google review
Spent the most tranquil weekend at the idyllic Muiredge. Our family of four stayed in one of their goregous cabins, Collie’s Wobbles and there was ample room with stunning views. They have a range of accommodations including a bigger cabins, Old Oak, with an upstairs, ideal for older kids. The railway carriage is perfect for couples and even has its own outdoor heated bath and a couples swing, it’s stunning. There is so much space for the children to run free allowing the adults to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. It’s also the perfect location for group bookings and has a large communal barn with indoor and outdoor seating to spend your evenings. We were lucky enough to be there when there was a pop up event serving delicious food. Definitely recommend whether for a family trip, couples retreat or group gathering! x
Rhona F — Google review
Absolutely amazing venue. We are just back from a fantastic weekend at Muiredge with friends and young children. A weekend isn't long enough. The accommodation is great, the communal barn is a gem complete with wood burner and everything you need for a great glamping weekend.

What a beautiful, peaceful location. Can definitely recommend Muiredge for families looking to get out the city for a few nights. We stayed 3 nights in a warm and comfortable cabin. Loads of outside space for kids to run around, both on the site and moor behind. There is also a large barn with plenty tables, fire, games, fridge and cooking equipment if Scotland’s inclement weather decides to pay a visit. We mainly used the bbq and outdoor tables. ☀️Hope to be back soon 🌳

Spent a brilliant weekend at Muiredge. This is a must visit site. With a group of friends with children this is the perfect weekend break. The kids loved the open space, the adults loved the kool spacious barn, and everyone loved the glamping. Just go visit and you will love it.
Leith N — Google review
I pushed myself clean out of my comfort zone in August and took my adventure-loving 5-year old away for a few days on my own. After scrolling through loads of uninspiring booking sites, I stumbled upon a recommendation for Muiredge in Perthshire. I could honestly wax lyrical for hours about how special our few days here were but suffice to say, I’d highly recommend!!! We stayed in the super cool Shepherd’s Hut but had a tour of all the huts and tents and they are LUSH. Highlights were: the crazy comfy bed, views and sunsets for days, blaeberry picking in the bonnie heather, the barn, the fire pit, the shower, the swallows, chatting with Farmer Angus (the warm and welcoming owner). Took about 1hr 15m to get there from Edinburgh. Gleneagles is next door, Perth Leisure pool is about 20 minutes drive and Blair Drummond Safari Park about 25mins. Very reasonably priced. Needless to say, we’ve booked to go back in the October holidays!

Wow what a stunning place! Has absolutely everything you could need and Ewa and John were great and easily contactable. Views are gorgeous and both us and our little Yorkie will miss it greatly!
Claire L — Google review
This place ticks all the boxes. The location was our first priority as we wanted a rural private setting and this beautiful home definitely ticked that box. Not to mention overlooking a loch. Style of property, open, comfortable, big rooms, great outdoor space, with everything you need and more, not only this but the premium appliances and kitchen tools made you feel very much looked after and certainly no expense spared. All of the above ticked all of our boxes but one of the other things that really stood out to us was the service that Ewa and John provided. Their communication was above and beyond and you felt they were there if you needed anything but let you relax and enjoy your time with no interruptions. We stayed 3 nights in August and had the best time. We plan to book for April and depending on when our grandson has an operation we are hoping to do a short break in November also. We couldn't recommend it enough.
Adela E — Google review
Simply, WOW! From the view to the toaster, everything about Knockderry Lodge is 7 star. If there was an 8 star rating, this property would get it. Setting aside the immaculate presentation (this is the cleanest property we've ever rented), the amazing welcome pack, the equisite decor and the top end quality of every whistle and bell (and there is EVERY whistle and EVERY bell!), the drama of both the property and location are hard to describe. Even the exceptional website doesn't quite capture how special this spot is. The lodge is phenomenal value for money and the service from Ewa and John, their attention to detail, quite frankly, exceeds the 7 stars. I can't recommend this property highly enough. Just don't book it when we want to go back!! 😉
Christian B — Google review
Knockderry Lodge is a very special place to visit, and one we won't forget. The outstanding views and location is just the beginning and once we arrived, we were overwhelmed at the sheer luxury and quality provided. The attention to detail from start to finish was incredible and the hosts Ewa & John made us feel welcome and like VIPs from start to end. The home is finished to an awesome standard, and excellently appointed with high quality fittings and equipment. There was quite literally nothing missing and we continued to be surprised and delighted throughout our stay as we discovered more and more features, from the top of the range coffee machine to the full size juke box, the enormous hot tub to the highest quality TVs with Sky in every room (including outside next to the hot tub!). We planned to go sight seeing and explore the area, but never actually left the premises because we didn't want to miss a moment of it, even though Wellington boots and walking equipment is all there provided for you. The enormous kitchen provides every possible utensil and gadget, great for making meals in, although we opted to BBQ outside most nights, and even that is a Heston Blumenthal Everdure BBQ! This is the perfect place to go and unwind for all ages. We are a youngish family with a busy worklife who never usually sit still, but found this house enabled us to switch off and relax fully, the perfect antidote to our usual schedule. We cannot wait to return and would highly recommend Knockderry Lodge.
Ian B — Google review
I took my sister and cousin here to celebrate my sister’s 40th birthday. We have stayed in a LOT of really nice places over the years but this lodge was honestly like walking into pure indulgent bliss. Everything we could ever have wanted was there. The couple who run it have created a mini paradise in the middle of a glorious Scottish hill with views that are hard to believe are actually real. Utterly breathtaking. Loved every single moment and didn’t want to leave. Thank you Ewa and John. You really have created something I’ve never seen before in Scotland. Heaven on earth.
Pamela M — Google review
Honestly exactly what we needed… stunning surroundings (we slept with the blinds open every night so we could sleep to the distant lights and wake up to the phenomenal views. Knockderry Lodge had everything we needed and extra, the honesty cupboard was a godsend. Dog friendly without feeling on tenterhooks, hard floors throughout and honestly perfection. The hot tub views were amazing, we sat for ages just in awe of the view. The garden isn’t fully enclosed for those whose dogs wander. Ours were incredibly well behaved and it wouldn’t prevent us returning. The dogs adored the space and loved being on sheep watch. The occasional sheep popped into the garden which was super cute to see before shooing them off. Knockderry lodge was absolutely the R+R we needed and absolutely adored this spot. THANKYOU so much for having us

"The Highland Snug" is a charming retreat nestled in the picturesque village of Blairmore, overlooking Loch Long. It's an ideal romantic getaway for couples seeking to bask in the beauty of Argyll, with its beaches, historical sites, and outdoor activities. The bedroom is spacious and well-appointed, while the modern bathroom boasts an efficient shower. The living area may be snug but offers ample comfort for two people.
This is aptly named as it is snug. However, the bedroom is large enough, very well equipped. The bathroom is excellent and the shower is ultra modern and very efficient. The living area is where the "Snug" comes in, as it is not very large but perfectly adequate for two people to occupy. Also the equipment provided can cater for most people's preferences. It comes with a small kitchen area with sink and washing facilities, a toaster and kettle as well as a fridge and small freezer. There is a table and chairs to eat on and also an induction hob and air fryer. It has access to the outside through french doors to a decked area and a big garden which is great for the dog. There is also off road parking and the location is very private and quiet. There are plenty of places to see and Dunoon is only eight or so miles away about twenty minutes drive time.
