Restaurant
Gazela is a renowned snack bar in Porto, known for its unique hot dogs and classic Portuguese sandwiches. The establishment has gained widespread acclaim for its iconic hot dogs, which are made with crispy bread, fresh sausage, melted cheese, and a delicious spicy sauce. This no-frills eatery has even been featured on Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. In addition to their famous hot dogs, Gazela also serves francesinhas at their new location on Rua de Entreparedes.
Gazela is a must-try spot for sandwiches done right. We tried several options: • The famous traditional hot dog – simple, crispy, and packed with flavor. • The ham and cheese sandwich – incredibly basic but unbelievably good. Sometimes the simplest things are the most satisfying. • The steak and cheese sandwich – juicy and flavorful. • And finally, the steak, cheese, ham, and sausage sandwich – a rich and indulgent bite for those who want it all. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching the team in action as they prepared the sandwiches with precision and energy. The vibe was great, and the entire staff had a genuinely positive attitude. Exceptional sandwiches and a welcoming atmosphere – Gazela is highly recommended!
Mohamad G — Google review
I had so much fun eating here. Fantastic food, atmosphere and team. Recommend sitting at the bar near the chef so you can watch him weave his magic. Icy cold beers with cheesy hot dogs and steak/ham/cheese/egg sandwiches. The best.
Genevieve S — Google review
On our first day in Porto, we went to Gazela for lunch to try their famous cachorrinhos, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We paired them with a Super Bock and it was the perfect combo. The meal was really good and surprisingly filling. The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, which was a pleasant surprise, and the cachorrinho itself was delicious with crispy, flavorful bread and just the right amount of sauce. We sat outside and there was a line the entire time, but the wait was only about 10 to 15 minutes and totally worth it. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Porto!
Jonathan A — Google review
The atmosphere of the place was great. You can feel it as soon as you enter. The waiters helped me choose my order, which was the steak sandwich (11.5 euro) and the superbock beer(2.20 euro). I really liked it, except that the meat was not cooked the way I prefer — it was a bit undercooked for my taste.😊 The place was full when I arrived, and there was a line when I left. Sometimes you may need to wait 😇
Sıla Ş — Google review
Even with the long queue outside, service was really great. Great quality for the price. Fries were excellent as they are cut by hand and about those sandwiches we will think for a long time
Samanta Ā — Google review
I finally tried the famous cachorrinho at Gazela in Porto. While the hot dog was tasty, the rest of the meal didn’t quite live up to the hype—the fries were underwhelming, and the service was slow and inattentive. It took quite a while to be seated, served, and to pay the bill. Overall, it was an average experience, though the prices were fair for what you get.

Cervejaria Gazela: Pure Porto Magic, Served Fast and Cheap Cervejaria Gazela isn't just a restaurant; it's a Porto institution, and a mandatory stop for anyone seeking authentic, high-quality street food served with lightning efficiency. This place excels by focusing on one thing and doing it perfectly: the Cachorrinho. The cachorrinho (Portuguese for "little hot dog") is the undisputed star. Forget what you know about hot dogs; this is a tiny, grilled, intensely flavorful sausage tucked into a crusty, buttered roll, cut into small, perfect pieces, and drenched in a spicy, secret sauce. It's an explosion of flavor that demands to be eaten in multiple rounds. Beyond the food, the experience is defined by efficiency and value. The service is incredibly fast. Whether the place is packed or quiet, your beer and cachorrinho hit the counter almost instantly. This rapid-fire service is matched only by the cheap prices. You can enjoy an amazing meal and several rounds of drinks without making a dent in your wallet. Speaking of drinks, the good beer on tap is fresh, cold, and the essential complement to the spicy, savory hot dogs. Gazela is a testament to how simple things done right can become legendary. It’s perfect for a quick lunch, a late-night snack, or a real taste of local Porto culture.
Sarang A — Google review
Another Porto essential! I recommend the traditional standard cachorrinho (not the special, which is the one in sauce - I tried both so you don’t have to 😉). You can pay by card, but they only take tips in cash.

Vaccarum Francesinhas & Tapas - Sá da Bandeira is a delightful culinary gem that showcases the rich sandwich culture of the city, particularly its iconic Francesinha. This renowned sandwich, often dubbed the "Queen of Sandwiches," is best enjoyed with a knife and fork due to its hearty nature. The restaurant itself boasts a cozy ambiance, perfect for savoring meals either indoors or on their outdoor terrace while soaking in the vibrant surroundings.
I highly recommend this restaurant! It was our first meal in Porto, and it was exceptional. The portions were generous, the meat was fresh and perfectly seasoned, and even the side vegetables and salad were thoughtfully prepared with delightful flavors. The server (I’m sorry, I don’t know her name) was incredibly kind and attentive, with a smile as radiant as sunshine. This is our second visit to this restaurant, and the food is still absolutely delightful.
Hermione — Google review
A wonderful restaurant! All the staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and patient. I’m usually not the type to pay much attention to service, but here it truly felt warm and welcoming. The food was excellent as well — the soup of the day was a delightful surprise, and the Francesinhas was by far the best I’ve had in Porto. We also ordered a sausage dish (sorry I don’t remember the name, the last image), which was prepared with great care and tasted amazing. Highly recommended! 非常好吃大家记得来吃!

Raquel was attentive and friendly but respected our space. My partner and I each had a franceshina with egg and it was delicious. Would come back and highly recommend!

I was looking all over Porto for a francesinha and decided on this restaurant. I was not disappointed! Absolutely superb and great service from all the staff. Thanks!

We came cause its a 4.8 review restaurant. It ended up being very salty, so salty that I drink one Liter of water and still thirsty right now. And the octopus isn't super fresh, you can taste the texure isn’t very bouncy

This was my first restaurant in Porto. I had Francesinha and passion fruit sangria. I asked the staff for a recommendation on sangria flavors, and he gave me the best one! The food was good, but the sauce was a bit too salty for me.

Café Santiago is a laid-back dining spot renowned for its delectable egg-topped sandwiches and hearty comfort fare, along with a selection of beers. The star of the menu is the Francesinha, Portugal's take on the croque-monsieur, featuring layers of cured ham, smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika, chipolata, roast meat smothered in melted cheese and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
We had the steak sandwich and had it split into two portion just add €1+. I can’t remember. But you’d get extra eggs and fries as it’s split to two plates. Well worth it as we’re not big eaters plus we then get to order another dish! Service was fast and prompt. We were early so no queue for us.
NemoAlert W — Google review
I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic francesinha, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the service: the staff was unprofessional and overly familiar, calling me "my love" and touching my arm, which made me uncomfortable. I don't know if it is part of portuguese culture but a more respectful and professional attitude would be greatly appreciated as a tourist. As for the food, while I understand that francesinha is a local specialty and many people love it, it wasn’t to my personal taste. However, I respect that this might just be a matter of preference. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, mainly due to the service.
Caroline ( — Google review
Good afternoon, I had dinner here today. And I am very disappointed. At first glance, the food looked good. But the reality was completely different. The meat smelled slightly off, but more importantly, it wasn't cooked through. I didn't finish my meal and reported everything to the waiter. I was asked if I wanted the meat cooked further. I said no, because there wasn't much left. Then the waiter took the food away and that was it. I find it really outrageous to serve someone raw meat and not even apologise, let alone make the customer pay the full amount. I understand that this can happen sometimes, but the staff's reaction must be different!!!!
Dominik . — Google review
Francesinha is a Porto classic, and around Café Santiago you’ll find several places specializing in it. This restaurant, with entrances from both Rua de Santo Ildefonso and Rua de Passos Manuel, clearly takes its Francesinha seriously — it’s offered in several variations. As one reviewer said perfectly: “I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t need to try it again.” It’s definitely an acquired taste, but hearty and filling — arrive hungry. My wife had Bacalhau à Braga, which was nicely prepared, and we finished with Aletria — a dessert made from thin noodles simmered in sweet milk and dusted with cinnamon. Service was friendly and quick, rounding out a solid local experience.
Siniša M — Google review
Tried the famous francesinha at Café Santiago and it delivered. Rich, hearty, and indulgent, with a perfectly balanced spicy beer sauce. The portion is generous, the meat is tender, and the melted cheese blanket is pure comfort. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. If you are in Porto and want to try the city’s signature dish, this is the place. Go hungry.
Ling — Google review
Incredibly delicious francesinha. Came here solo and immediately got a seat at the bar. Short wait for the sandwich. The sauce is delicious and comforting, and the meats with bread are amazing. Tastes much better than it looks! Place was packed, expect to wait with 2+ people. Service was friendly and efficient
Malte H — Google review
Francesinha baked in a wood oven! Ordered the Francesinha Santiago - Bife do Lombo, that upgrades the beef to siloin, also for that price comes already included the fried egg and the french fries. Aletria for desert, it was also top notch! Delicious! with a Café were both the perfect send off!
W M — Google review
Went there after seeing all the positive reviews and was highly disappointed. We ordered francesinhas and caldo verde. When the francesinhas came out it looked really good at first look. However the sandwich itself was not hot and lukewarm at best. Both the fries and the bread was very stale.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!
Duncan A — Google review
It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto
Scott L — Google review
Mercado do Bolhão is one of the highlights of Porto and a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s flavours in one place. The market is spotless, beautifully restored, and full of life. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.
Ali M — Google review
Lovely indoor market with a wide range of produce aimed mainly at tourists. Fabulous to be able to buy a glass of wine etc in a real glass and wander around the stalls. Places to sit and eat the wide range of foods available. Stall holders were very pleasant and helpful. Good range of products that are hard to source at home and generally good vfm. What was disappointing was that none of the foods on sale were out for you to sample. It’s the first market I have visited where this was the case. Usually there are plates with little samples on so you can taste before you buy. Very clean and everything very well presented.
Elviera L — Google review
This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.
G M — Google review
Sa e some time for a visit to this market. Stunning array of cured meets and seafood ready for tasting. Wine of course too. I had some of the largest oysters to eat. Easy to find and right off from the metro.
Jan B — Google review
This is a must visit place in Porto. A large indoor marketplace with restaurants housed in a renovated old building. There is a lot to see and to taste. Vegetables, fruit and fresh juice, fresh fish, famous canned sardines, special coffee, olive oil and olives, flowers, wines including port of course, perfumes and hand-made souvenirs to buy. Often, you can meet a performing artist (or a group).
Jadwiga E — Google review
This is a great local market featuring fresh seafood and diverse offerings. Just be aware that the operating hours for the restaurants on the top floor are separate from the main market's closing time.

Portuguese restaurant
O Buraco is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Porto, near the famous Bolhao market. With over 50 years of history, this establishment offers authentic Portuguese cuisine at reasonable prices. The menu features classic dishes such as boiled cabeca de pescada, carapaus de escabeche, and figado de cebolada. Additionally, daily specials like feijoada a Buraco and tripas a Buraco showcase regional flavors.
probably one of the best restaurants in Porto. If looking for genuine Portuguese cuiscine, this is the absolutely place. serving hours are 1200-1500, 1900 -2300, it is always fully packed, need to queue up for tables. It can seat about 70 guests, but got very few waiters so they are really busy and rushing all the time. But the kitchen is very quick. First time I went, not knowing they only serve tripa fridays and saturdays. So ending up I had the famous Portuguese sausage Alheira, which is not my cup of tea. Went again and finally had the awesome Tripas a Moda do Porto. Incredibly tasty and tender, even the rice is flavorful and well cooked. I will return again. On the 3rd visit, I had duck rice. O Buraco is definitely the best..
Connie W — Google review
Incredible food. Literally the tastiest most filling chicken and salad I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and so was the food/drinks. The highlight was the cheesecake recommended by our server, which I have thought about loads since eating. This was definitely worth the queue (only a short one).
Izi T — Google review
Got this recommendation after putting into Gemini: authentic, value for money, Portuguese traditional restaurant. This restaurant came up on top. So popular we had to wait outside to get a table. Service is better than it seems. It was full so we got a corridor table which was fine. There were more tables in the basement. Food was great. Tasty and efficient. Waiter recommended that we didn't over order as portions were generous. Ordered soups. Had the biftek and the cod buraco. Both lovely. Topped up the vinho verde with some tawny port after dessert. Came to be €65 for 2
Steven H — Google review
Great food, good price and good portion size. The menu is not big but everything we had was very good. They serve mostly fish and some meat dishes. I did not notice anything with crab, shrimp, clam or mussels. Come before 7:30 if you can or you might have to wait outside.
Bill C — Google review
Came here 3 times because I can’t find another place with better price/quality. Duck rice, fried sardines were great. Wish they can make the Wednesday special (meat and bean stew) available everyday. Service is average not that welcoming, but at least efficient.
Jem C — Google review
O Buraco offers authentic, local Portuguese cuisine that truly delights. Their bean rice and sardines are standout dishes we absolutely love. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy genuine flavors while avoiding typical tourist traps. Don’t miss their special sangrias, available in sparkling and berry varieties, which set them apart from other places.
V C — Google review
Excellent food, big portions and fast service. The prices are very cheap and I think everything is homemade. The rice was a side dish included in the price of the fish.

Padaria Ribeiro, one of the oldest bakeries in Porto with a 146-year history, is renowned for its delectable croissants and pastries. The bakery's signature amanteigado croissant undergoes a slow leavening process and is finished with a sugar syrup while still warm, creating an irresistibly sweet treat.
This is my absolute favorite bakery. Everything I get is so delicious. I can’t say it’s the most affordable place but it’s definitely well worth it. Especially the carrot cake is incredible. I would get it every single day if it fit my budget just a bit more. 10/10
Müge Ö — Google review
Recommend the bakery, not so much the cafe. If you want to eat there, do not make the mistake of ordering from the cafe menu they give you! (Limited options, cold and unappealing pastries). Instead, take a picture of the pastry you want from the bakery and show it to the waiter. I didn’t realize they had this option until I overheard a staff member telling another customer :(
Edlyn P — Google review
Bakery with many options! We ordered a variety of the pastries to eat in. Weirdly none of the savoury pastries are heated up, so everything was cold and honestly not very good. The carrot / ginger cake and chocolate cake were the best things we got. Might be better to order as a takeaway to heat up at home.
KDD — Google review
unfortunately highly would not recommend the mango smoothie. it was 4.40€, but it was extremely bland and did not have any milk or cream (isn’t that what a smoothie means?). it tasted like a little bit of mango and a lot of water. pastel de nata was just ok, can get better elsewhere
Aly — Google review
Really good place. It is busy all the time... so may you have to wait a bit, but it's worthy. You have to try éclair there. I love it. Prices are reasonable

Friendly staff and nice terrace, the only con was that the pastries were all cold when the salty ones that we chose were supposed to be at least quite warm

Pastry shop
Manteigaria is a renowned bakery that originated in Lisbon and has expanded to include a second shop in the capital as well as a location in Porto. The cozy and traditional atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists, who often enjoy their natas while observing the pastry chefs at work. While Pasteis de Belem is considered the original and best place for pasteis de nata, some argue that Manteigaria may now surpass it.
This place certainly deserves its ratings for excellent egg tarts. You will never go wrong with these tarts which have very flaky pastry and a soft custard filling, without being too mushy. The coffee is decent to help wet the throat after the pastry crumbles in your mouth! Highly recommend this pastry shop.

OMG super fresh pastel de nata were delicious. Loved watching them make them right in front of you and then they serve them to you warm and tasty. So glad we popped in here for a nice treat. Definitely check it out while in Porto.

A lovely place to enjoy traditional pastel de nata. The service is quick, the staff are friendly, and the pastries are a delicious. They also come in cute packaging, making them a great gift option.

Honestly, 11/10 would go again. This lil piece of portuguese deliciousness stole my heart and feels like im being reborn and ready to get baptised again in the church right to next it. I’m not joking when I say I am seriously considering to move to Porto just for these tiny bad bois to be entering my mouth for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and obviously as a midnight snack. If you don’t go here first thing upon arriving in Porto you are definitely missing out, which, honestly, you should avoid at all costs as this is and should be a national treasure and gift to mankind even though we don’t deserve it!!!!

This dessert is incredibly delicate and crispy ❤️ The price is €1.40. İt's the best nata in Porto. We also ordered a cappuccino, which is served with foam and cocoa powder. We really enjoyed it!

Manteigaria lives up to the hype—each pastel de nata is a flaky, creamy wonder that’s best enjoyed warm and on the go. You’ll think one is enough… until you walk out with four more.

Delicious pastel de nata in a good location. Quick line up and friendly staff. We also had cappuccino with it. No place to sit but loved the store! The taste was phenomenal.

YUM! Love the Pastel De Nata from here! They definitely have a nutmeg or spice to them that sets them apart! We got them fresh out of the oven so they were super hot and fresh! A must visit when you are in Portugal, you can find this bakery all over!

Casa Expresso is a charming, budget-friendly eatery with a simple and ever-changing menu displayed on a board. The atmosphere feels like enjoying homemade meals at your mom's place. The staff is accommodating, even if you don't speak Portuguese. The food is described as generous, home-cooked, and of high quality without any frills. It's popular among locals for its authentic Portuguese dishes at affordable prices.
Very fun vibe and ultra busy, you can try really authentic Portuguese food for a great price. The service was great and the beers were tasty. I loved my vegetable soup, it had nice chunks of cabbage and geeens swimming around. The French fries tasted really amazing! You might have to come early if you want a good seat, or even a seat at all.

The best meal we had in Portugal. If you know you know good food, this restaurant is not to be missed. The environment is rustic and lively and the service is prompt with great recommendations from the staff. We had the pork roll, soup with meat and blood (surprisingly amazing) and the homemade wafer cake for desert (which I wouldn’t normally go for but was recommended and incredible). We’ll be coming back again tomorrow.

This! Still my favourite eat in all of Portugal. This humble tavern serves a range of traditional Portuguese fare but the true star of the show is the slow cooked Rojoes. I've been here multiple times now and it's the place I look forward to visiting most when I'm in Porto. Expect a long wait for a table if you're coming for dinner especially if you're in a big group. The best time to come is at the end of lunch service. If I'm not just grabbing one of the face-melting Sandos I'm ordering a full portion of the stewed pork, a side of patas fritas and a couple of beautiful fried eggs. All is accompanied by fresh crusty bread and a banging home made hot sauce. There are multiple dining areas, one at the bar, one in front of the kitchen and main room. The atmosphere is as local as it gets so expect to wait your turn. Hopefully they don't stay closed for long!

Amazingly delicious food. Very reasonable price and good service. Our favourites were the pork and cheese in bread and the chips. Also good wine :)

The best sandwich we had in Portugal! This little hidden gem is more of a local coffee shop where people stop by for a quick bite. If you’re after a unique experience, this is the place to be! The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful, served on fresh bread—everything you could want in a sandwich!

The restaurant was recommened by the locals and it was worth it! The pork in bun (the most famous dish from casa expresso) with chesse is something mandatory to try in Porto. The place is simple but with local vibe.

Casa Guedes Tradicional is a beloved spot in Porto run by two sets of siblings who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight here is the famous smoked pork loin sandwich, best enjoyed with a glass of the local green wine called espadal. Additionally, homemade french fries are also recommended. Recently, Casa Guedes expanded with a new location that offers traditional Portuguese dishes and signature cocktails alongside the iconic sandwiches.
I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The roasted pork sandwiches, cod cakes, and croquettes are always tasty—especially when washed down with a cold Super Bock. Sitting outside is perfect for people watching. Life is good!

We are not experts on bifanas, but definitely their bifana sandwiches here are great! Great quality, combinations and taste! The menu is exactly what should be. Overall excellent experience. This restaurant is a "must" for anyone visiting Porto!

We serendipitously had lunch here. This is one of the finest restaurants in Porto. The personnel were amicable and well-informed. They patiently elucidated the diverse dishes. The cuisine was undoubtedly superb and delectable. You should sample the abade prisco at least once to explore the flavors of Portugal.

This was the first time we ordered patatas bravas on this trip and they were delicious. We ended up getting them every place we went and by the end of the trip the ones here were still my favorite. My friend loved the pork croquettes and actually asked for me after our meal because she loved them so much. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu has a lot of options!

Food was okay, Pork knuckle was really tasty, falling out of bone, do delicious, however side dish that you get with it was also good but portion is very small and not in proportion with the meat where you get really good amount of it. Other dish however, was nothing special, bacalar with egg and vegetables. It had some tomato taste which is fine but overall lacking some spices or something. Position of restaurant is nice, on the street.

Since I moved to Portugal, it has been my dream to try chorizo cooked over fire. And it just so happened that during this trip to Porto, when I remembered about it, we were right next to a place with a good rating and lots of reviews. The chorizo turned out just as I imagined — first a little fire show, and then juicy chorizo with cold beer — everything you need to enjoy the last sunny days. But be careful: if it’s windy outside, you’ll get a dose of fear along with your dish when the flames start blowing in your direction.
Polina M — Google review
I genuinely don’t get the hype of this place — the food was super cold, flavourless and the price per quality is off (9,90€ for a prego with Brie and 5,90€ for a small glass of wine is exorbitant). They get an extra star for the super nice staff and incredible roof top terrace, but overall not worth it!

Taylors Port offers a fascinating journey through time, delving into the history of Porto wine, viticulture, the Douro region, and the remarkable story of Taylors. Visitors can explore the extensive cellars with an electronic audio-guide providing insights into the company's heritage and winemaking processes. The self-guided tour allows for flexibility in pacing and is ideal for those with limited time or seeking an overview of port production.
Had an awesome winery experience :) It’s a self-guided tour (you need headphones) which took around an hour to complete. Total historic tour of this winery and wine-making. After the tour, you will walk into an amazingly beautiful garden for tasting session. It was super scorching day, so i sat indoors by the window for tasting and it was perfect!! I had both cool atmosphere and the perfect garden view. I tried [extra dry white port][10year tawny][vintage port]. Ordered some olives and taylor’s natas (chocolate layer inside) for pairing with the drinks. All the staffs were kind, informative.and attentive. :)
Hanna B — Google review
One of the oldest cellar buildings b the area with a pre-book self-guided audio tour and wine tasting(3 kinds). Helpful history although a big part of it was for this particular venue. The wine tasting area is in a beautiful court yard with great decoration and large area inside and outside. They rai out of snack by 4pm with only a few sweets and cheese and olive 🫒 left. Cheese was good but Oliver was not fresh and super salty and is barely edible. Need some improvement there for sure. Not the cheapest cellar and there is a bit of a hill to walk up after the bridge but still enjoyable and only need to book ahead day in advance which is nice ☺️
Maggie — Google review
This was a fantastic port cellar to visit! The tour itself is very informative and has a lot of historical artifacts, videos, and of course the barrels of port in the giant warehouse. The tour is all self guided at your pace, and gives a complete history of the company and also the port making process. The best part is of course the tasting at the end in Taylor’s beautiful garden. The ports we tried were all top notch (especially the 10 year) and the server was very knowledgeable about the styles. Most definitely worth a special visit if you’re in Porto.
David S — Google review
1) I liked the port wine. 2) If you visit, I think the tour including a tasting is a better deal than just the tasting, with tasting sets starting at 22 EUR. 3) Be aware that while the garden is nice, you won’t have much of a view of Porto. 4) Stay away from the bread basket — at 8 EUR for six tiny pieces of mediocre bread, I thought this was a real rip-off that left a bitter taste on the whole experience
Mary S — Google review
We enjoyed visiting this wine cellar and recommend this place to other visitors. The tour is informative and shares context on the wine making process and some history of the founders of this cellar. You get the chance to pass by some real big barrels which was cool. The highlight of the tour was the tasting. You taste the wines in the rooftop garden and if you go to the balcony, you will have a nice view of porto. There is a shop that you can purchase wines. The price was fair for the experience (~€25).
Reza N — Google review
We had such a great tour of the port, followed by a tasting that was absolutely delicious. Marri (forgive me if I’m spelling her name wrong!) was our waitress she was so sweet, spoke perfect English, and really took the time to help us pair our port with food. The pairings were spot-on and made the experience even better. The grounds are stunning, covered in grapevines everywhere you really feel like you’re in the heart of a winery. They also have a charming little shop where you can purchase their port and even their own house olive oil. Another bonus they’re open on Mondays, when many of the other ports in the area are closed. We actually stumbled upon this place, and I’m so glad we did!

If you love port, or think you might, and can splurge a bit for the tawny master class, I highly recommend doing so. While I did it, my wife did the audioguide tour and we both enjoyed ourselves immensely. We didn't do all the bodegas but of the ones we did, this was our favorite.

Nestled in the charming Ribeira neighborhood, Taberna dos Mercadores is a cozy and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its small size, the place is always bustling, so it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. The attentive staff adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features delectable dishes such as octopus specialties and grilled sea bass, complemented by an extensive selection of high-quality wines.
We had to wait for about 30-40 minutes before we got a table. The staff came out during this time and told us they can’t guarantee a place for us and that larger groups might have to sit separately. If you can reserve a table as otherwise you might not be able to taste their delicious food. We had the octopus with its rice as well as the steak with the sausage rice. We shared a mixed salad for a starter. The food arrived in time and was delicious. It was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and polite. It’s worth a visit and with just 16 seats one of the smaller restaurants we have been. Highly recommend but be prepared either to wait or reserve a spot.
Marc S — Google review
This is a very touristy place. The space is very small and at a time only 16 people can be seated. We arrived 45 minutes before opening and were 6th in line. We tried the oven-baked octopus rice and the salt-crusted seabass. The seabass was excellent, 10/10. The oven-baked octopus rice was 7/10. The people working there are very nice. The lady who took our order told us our initial order would be too much food, which was such a kind gesture. Overall, if you have an hour to spare, I would say try this restaurant.

By far the best restaurant in Porto. There will be a wait so be prepared but it’s well worth it. My tip is be there early. Restaurant seats 14 people. Reminds me of the quaint restaurants in the Boston North End. The food was stunningly and delicious. I ordered the garlic shrimp, Seafood Açorda and Apple Meringue pie. All amazing and all suggested by the owner who is amazingly kind and attentive. I was a single traveler and made to feel right at home and welcomed.
Donald N — Google review
This was my favourite meal in Portugal, the food was so good! I liked the octopus rice and sea bream best, followed by the seafood rice. They have very limited seating inside (~16 seats) so there was a long wait. They opened at 12:30 and our group arrived at 12:05, and we barely missed entering in the first wave. We ended up waiting over 1.5 hours. They don’t guarantee group seating for groups larger than 2 so our group of 4 ended up getting split into 2 groups. They accept credit card.
Ellen H — Google review
We came for the second time and the most impressive dishes is the beef steak with rice! Of course, other must order dishes sea bass (with fire), clams, octopus and the potato soup. An average of 1-1.5 hours waiting time, and worth for the queue if you look for authentic and high quality of food.
V C — Google review
I arrived around 1:30pm ish and I waited about 30 mins to be seated. I was by myself and the staff/owner was so accommodating and friendly. I got the octopus dish with rice and the portion was way too generous. Apple pie was really good, nostalgic and had the right balance! Worth the wait 😊
Jisu K — Google review
The signature salt-grilled fish was really fresh, and the flame grilling was quite a show. The garlic clams were just average. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table—there are only eight tables with sixteen seats. The place doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere, but the food came out pretty quickly.

I would say it's a must-try if you come to Porto. The taste of octopus rice is unforgettable. The crunchy flavored rice is lovely and the octopus is soft and slightly firm with a pleasant chewiness. The size is suitable for 2 people. My friend and I had waited for an hour, and it's

The cafe, located on Rua das Flores in Porto, is celebrated for its delicious Portuguese custard tarts known for their crispy crust and sublime cream filling. Nata Lisboa's cozy atmosphere and ample seating make it a popular spot for freelancers seeking a productive workspace, offering free Wi-Fi and conveniently located power outlets.
Delicious breakfast. Good service. Location is excellent. Also enjoyed sitting on the patio with a glass of port wine. Downside to any patio is that we have to deal with the smokers.

Good flaky pastry, custard wasn’t the best. Service was non existent. Perhaps from the crowds and inefficient order. If you are ordering takeaway you can order at the counter but if you are planning to sit down you need to wait for the waitstaff to come take your order which took like 15/20minutes even though I only wanted 2 tarts. Decided to takeaway instead. Better places in Porto for egg tarts so can give this place a miss
D S — Google review
This was an odd experience, with more wrong than right, but some real positives at the same time. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch, liked the location and the look of the menu, and sat down. We both opted for the Lisboa salad at 11 euros 50, including a soft drink and one of the Nata pasties, which is a very good price by UK standards. I ordered a sardine salad, and my wife ordered a Mediterranean salad. The waitress came back and checked if I definitely wanted sardines and I confirmed that I did. We waited around 35 minutes for the food, and when it came I got a tuna salad instead of a sardine one. I really didn't want to wait for another prolonged period for it to be replaced, so I just ate it. Both salads were very good. We then had our Nata pastry, which was spectacular, and a coffee, which was also very good. Despite the very slow service, and the wrong order, I came away with a great deal of sympathy for the member of staff. She was friendly, cheerful, and working hard under difficult circumstances, trying to do everything herself. Since COVID hospitality has been struggling across the world and it's very difficult to get the balance of service, ingredients and price right. This was a nice place to watch the world go by, with a lot to see on a warm day, so it wasn't a great deal of hardship to have a long wait. Everyone didn't feel that way however, and there was some grumbling and complaining from other customers.
James W — Google review
Had to wait almost one hour to be served. I tried ordering directly from the counter but they won’t let you if you are eating in. I ended up having to wait for a waiter who was clearly occupied elsewhere and ignored my table for more than 40 minutes. The Pasta de Nata was nice but I don’t think it was exceptional and worth the wait. I like mine a bit crunchy on the outside and that was personally missing. I also got a Galão, which was good. Overall quite cheap (except the cappuccino which is overpriced). I spent under €4.

Confeitaria do Bolhão is a historic pastry shop located in Porto, founded in 1896 and recently recovered by a Venezuelan family. It offers a wide variety of traditional Portuguese pastries, savory items, sandwiches, and an array of breads. Situated across the street from the iconic Bolhao market, it provides an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in Portuguese food culture.
We really enjoyed the time we had in the café. We came in around 2 o'clock in the afternoon for the sweets and also took a rest a bit. We ordered galao (like latte) and four pieces of pastries like pastel de nata, bola de berlim, estaladinho and folhado de chocolate. Everything tasted good and I was totally satisfied after all. Best of all, it costed 7 euros only! We will come again for sure.

Super authentic Portuguese bakery/pastry shop. Great for take away but also if you want to stay there. It's very lively and there is a constant coming and going of people. The waiters seem busy but are super nice. And the price is outstanding for what you get. Tried to try a bit of everything but the menue is too big for one visit
Jeevan T — Google review
Confeitaria do Bolhão is lively, hectic, and unmistakably local — exactly the kind of place that gives Porto its charm. Around thirty small tables pack the space, and you’ll likely sit shoulder to shoulder with other guests while two energetic waiters manage the entire room with impressive speed. Up front, the counter is filled with both sweet and savory pastries, all fresh and tempting. Be patient — it’s always busy — but the wait is worth it. Closed on Sundays, but on any other morning it’s a perfect spot to start the day, enjoy a proper coffee, and sample local specialties in an authentic atmosphere. If you have the time, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Love this place. Delicious pastries, great coffee, open at 6am for early birds, fair prices, classic interior but what really made it for me was the charming service, comfortable helping tourists with limited English and limited Portuguese. Bonus points for providing a water dispenser to wash down the coffee with. The ordering system is okay once you work it out. Order at the counter, take a seat at the back, they'll find you with your order and give you an ID card for the bill. If you want to order more, you go back to the man overseeing the seating area, or the counter, with the same card. You pay on the way out, handing the card to the cashier at the exit/entrance. They don't label the baked goods, so if you're not a native (or even if you are?!), you're best taking a photo, showing it to the counter staff and saying the quantity you want (in English, was fine). I never used the toilets, so can't comment on them. It's a great place to get up early for, charge up, relax and get ready to attack the day, especially if like me you don't like hotel breakfasts (they're all the same and it's one less opportunity to go somewhere new). Also, getting up early in a hot country while it's cooler is a good idea, plus you can avoid a lot of crowds of tourists.

Confeitaria do Bolhao was one of my favorite cafes while in Porto. I visited several times for breakfast and bought many pastries to take home. All the pastries here were delicious. They were flaky and didn't stick to my mouth. The sandwiches were also delicious. The coffee and chocolate were also delicious. The service was excellent, efficient, and fast. The prices were very affordable.

Stepping into Confeitaria do Bolhão feels like stepping back in time. The old-world charm, mirrored walls, and smell of fresh pastries make it a true Porto classic. Staff were kind and quick even during the rush, and prices are fair. It gets busy, but that’s part of its magic. patience will be well compensated.A must-stop for anyone exploring the city! Tried their Bolo Rei, tigelinhas de Bolhao and another one. Loved all of them esp the bolo rei. Their Espresso are mini Espresso though :)

This is a must go when visiting Porto. The place was founded in 1896, it has a very nice traditional atmosphere. We tried as much as we could from sweet and salty pastry. The variety is very vast but everything is good. It is located just across from Mercado do Bolhão which is worth to visit.

Traditional Portuguese desserts disappointed me most of the time😔this passion fruit tart is nth as it should be, the tart is basically some digestive biscuit mixed with butter and not baked, and the mousse filling is just like flavourless milk jelly, with some sweet passionfruit jam on top. Not sure if other stuff would taste better but I saw most of the comments written in Chinese expressed the same feeling🤣⋯⋯

We wanted to try the fracesinhas porto's favourite dish. It's traditionally a meat dish but we are vegetarian. We were not keen on the the veggie francesinhas, but im not saying isn't good here as it is meant to be with meat. It was busy so im guessing the meat version is good 👍
Ruth R — Google review
OMG! Food was outstanding! The Francesinha was excellent and the menu has a few different variations. Their thin crust pizza was also excellent, sauce was tangy and thick. My husband and I shared a pineapple, mushroom, and ham pizza and a Francesinha. Plenty of food! He had a large Super Bock beer and I had red sangria. We were there before 7:00, when happy hour ends, so my sangrias were 2 for 1!! Service was prompt, friendly, spoke Englis and, he had a good sense of humor! Restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. I’d go back. You should go. You won’t be disappointed.

Nice place that serves popular traditional Portuguese food. We had to ask what it was 😂 they had a full menu for vegans, so very accommodating. As we’re British we settled for a good slab of steak and chips. Cooked just how we like it. Can’t go wrong. Service was really good and staff friendly. They accommodated us well considering we hadn’t booked a table. All I would say is I prefer my sauce on the side and not coating the steak, but it was still tasty 😊

We wanted to try Francesinhas in Porto so we ordered the Dragao & Patrao and we shared as a group of 4. The quantity was enough and the service was fast and all smiling. We ordered also Limonda juice which was refreshing and we asked for some more ice to have it cold. The food in general was Ok and most of the flavour was in the sauce, it was a new dish to try. The point that really made me upset was when I went to pay the bill and I saw that they are charging me for the ice I asked for the Limonda juice...is that REAL... never I got in interaction with a restaurant that want to take money for ice... I would genuinely suggest to the owners of this restaurant to rethink more about the image of the restaurant more than the 30 cents they charge for the ice.
Nad S — Google review
Went here to try the Francesinhas since they have the vegan menu for my spouse. I had the more traditional one, Do Carago which was delicious. It was a huge portion and somehow I finished it by myself. My spouse had the Francesinhas with tofu. She was surprised how good it tasted. Overall I would definitely recommend this place.
H T — Google review
Decided to try this restaurant due to the vegan menu alongside the traditional one. As a local I missed francesinha, but this place has a very nice options for vegan! Maybe the sauce needed that special flavour you can only eat in some places, but other than that everything was good and the staff is very friendly.
Inês S — Google review
The place it's really spaceful, warmy and nice, the service was excellent. Kind personnel. I had a Francecinha which was ok, the sauce was really good, not too spicy and the meat had a good taste. The bread was a lil bit hard and dry for my taste. The price was ok, I spent around 16 euros for my meal with beverage included

Fast food restaurant
Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau is a unique establishment that specializes exclusively in the iconic Portuguese snack, Pastel de Bacalhau. The shop's charming exterior resembles a bookshop and draws visitors in with its allure. Inside, guests are treated to the sight of gigantic cod croquettes filled with delicious cheese, which are considered true works of art and worth every penny.
Every time I come to Portugal and stop in Porto, I try to visit "Casa Portuguesa" to eat the amazing original dish, "Pastel de Bacalhau," with a glass of white wine from Porto.
Sacha M — Google review
Heard this is the best place in the city to try Pastel de Bacalhau, and this place did not disappoint. I tried this cordfish fitter with cheese and this was crispy on the top and cheesy inside. There is a strong smell and taste of the cordfish but still this is delicious. The store itself is very well designed and they have outdoor seating options available. The pricing is moderate and the quantity is decent.
Akash B — Google review
The codfish cake is a traditional portoguese snack especially from the countryside. The twist here is that they add cheese in it. You can get it in a set with a Porto wine for a reasonable price. You can even keep the wine glass as souvenir! The codfish cake itself is decent, even if it’s my first time trying it. You get a good taste of the fish and the cheese. It wasn’t served hot in my case. But the service and ambiance of the place makes up for it, as you can see in my photos.
Syazwan K — Google review
I tried the pastel de bacalhau with cheese from this place. It was okay, but I felt it could have been better. The flavors were a bit lacking, and since it’s mainly potato and cheese, there’s room to make it more flavorful. That said, I had a great experience trying this authentic Portuguese codfish cake. The atmosphere is lovely, the presentation was excellent, and the staff were really nice. They took the time to explain what we were ordering even before we placed it, and they were very welcoming and cheerful throughout.
Kulunu M — Google review
€6 per each of the bacalao cakes is a bit much. They are traditional so you kinda have to buy one, but they are super dry, and extremely fried. They are eatable, but if you dont get one you wont be missing out.
Lily A — Google review
The Pastel de Bacalhau doesn't taste rich or good like in other more traditional locations. Less Bacalhau in the potato mash results in a mild taste. Inside was a mild cheese to make it special but cheese inside a Pastel de Bacalhau is not traditional. It was dry and not that great for 5 euro each. But the ambient of the location was amazing. I think it's more for tourists.
Ouafa H — Google review
Low evaluation for Service because it’s self service.. so you need to work to get your expensive food. Bolinhos de bacalhau used to have more cheese 2 years ago.. we got the regular and the extra cheese and even the extra does not have so much cheese like they use to have The place is nice inside and also outside Incredible expensive for what it is
Isabel C — Google review
We were walking by and it looked busy. We were just curious what's going on here. The lady kindly explained what's this fish potato bite and in a package it comes with a wine. "Portugal tasting experience" Total €12,5 The shop is really nice, go upstairs to the second floor to have a view from the balcony in good weather & enjoy the library room. I think it's touristic pricey but overall experience with the place is very good.

The shop has gained popularity among locals and visitors alike for its dedication to creating authentic and top-quality pastries. Situated in the heart of Porto, near popular tourist attractions like Avenida dos Aliados, Fábrica da Nata offers a convenient stop for those exploring the city.
One of the best nata I had during my trip to Portugal — incredibly flaky crust and perfectly creamy filling. The texture and flavor were spot on! Besides the nata, the other pastries were also delicious and fresh. Worth trying!Prices are reasonable, and the overall quality is excellent. Highly recommended!
Yuchen M — Google review
We must have tried 5 different places and this place made the best - flaky crust, served warm and the custard was not too sweet but creamy at the same time. We've went back multiple times throughout our trip! Amazing tarts and their breakfast treats are good too.

One the best pastel de nata that I have tasted so far in Portugal. The place is pretty busy you have to wait a few minutes until you can order but it really pays off, you can also see the making of the pastel inside. Great expierience, great taste:) definitely a must try if you are visiting the city:)

If you’re looking for the perfect breakfast spot in Portugal, this is absolutely the place! The coffee is rich and smooth, the pastries are fresh out of the oven, and the Pastéis de Nata are simply the best I’ve ever had, crispy, golden layers on the outside with a creamy, warm custard inside that melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the ideal way to start your morning. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this café is a must-visit for a truly authentic taste of Portugal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Natas in Porto — and a Perfect Spot to Enjoy Them! Fábrica de Natas is an absolute delight! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the aroma of freshly baked pastéis de nata that instantly makes you smile. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always serve with a genuine smile — their great service really stands out. The natas themselves are perfection: crisp, flaky pastry with a creamy, rich custard filling that’s just the right balance of sweetness. Easily the best I’ve had in Porto! Pair one (or three) with a coffee or a glass of port for the full experience. The patio is beautiful — a peaceful, sunlit spot right in the heart of the city where you can relax and watch the world go by. If you’re visiting Porto, do yourself a favor and stop by Fábrica de Natas. It’s a true taste of Portugal at its best! 🇵🇹☕🥧

Manteigaria – Fábrica de Pastéis de Nata, a renowned custard tart shop from Lisbon, has expanded to Porto. The Porto branch offers a captivating view of chefs crafting buttery pastry into crispy wheels filled with cinnamon-spiced custard in a kitchen with glass walls. Visitors can savor their tarts at the minimalistic canteen with a glass of port or enjoy an espresso at the counter.
I tried these pastries and the coffee today and I loved them. This is a perfect spot to try a Portuguese pastry and enjoy a coffee. The espresso was delicious. It was so fun watching them make the Pastel de Nata. They make these fresh so when you’re eating them they literally have just come out of the ovens. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Porto!

I’m a big fan of pastel de nata and came here knowing it’s considered one of the best in Porto. It’s definitely good, crispy and fresh, but a bit TOO sweet for my taste. If they toned down the sugar just a little, it would be perfect! 👌🏻 The price is great too, almost like supermarket prices. Compared to other popular spots, it’s much more affordable. Definitely worth trying! 👌🏻
Bie — Google review
The pastry is very very crispy. The filling has mild cinnamon flavour, quite surprised. The outer is a bit burnt, which I can taste it and i quite like. However, it’s just warm when I get it. I would prefer a hotter or warmer one. €1.4 per one. Not expensive as it is so famous.
Wing L — Google review
Crispy, flaky pastry with a perfectly creamy custard filling — fresh out of the oven and still warm, which made all the difference. Just the right balance of sweetness and texture. Definitely lives up to the hype. If you're in the area, this is absolutely worth a stop for a quick and satisfying treat.

ChatGPT recommendations strike gold again! We randomly sampled a few natas near the ribiera area of Porto after getting here as our starting point for the portugal trip and we were not really sure about how we felt about Pastel de Nata and the hype around it. So I asked ChatGPT about the best spots in town where I could grab one and this place was the top recommendation. And, OMG, was out perception of Pastel de nata set straight right after the first bite we took of these beauties. They are made very fresh apparently and you can see that visually as the bakers are prepping these which can be seen through the windows of the place. This was the crispiest Pastel de Nata we had in our stay in Portugal on the outside and not the thickest in terms of custard consistency on the inside but I personally thought their custard density was perfect! A tad bit on the sweeter side as far as sweetness goes but for Indian taste buds used to jalebis and gulaab jamun I don't think any Indian tourist would complain on that front. The freshness of the nata was very evident in every bite I recommend trying it both with the cinnamon sprinking on and without. Both have their own charm. The price point was very very reasonable for such excellent quality. A few days later we were in Lisbon, and we tried the famous pasteis de belem next to the Jeronimos monestary , this was the birthplace of pastel de nata and where every google, tripadvisor, instagram and other reviewer told us we would find the best pastel de nata on the planet. Well, I can't complain about the nata I found there, but the crown of "best" , based on my limited experience, goes firmly to Manteigaria in Porto. QED. Enough said. :)
Tushar P — Google review
i went there thrice this weekend and the guy in the take out section was always (a bit) grumpy. Too bad he is cute 😋. anyway, no doubt one of the best pasteis de nata or probably the best. i love their crunchy crust which compliment the creamy filling. Tried manteigaria in Lisbonne and Paris but what made it différent this time is that they had ginja shots! My friend love that part of the expérience and the pasteis de nata or course

Traveling to Porto for the first time (and to Portugal in general), I decided to try this famous local dessert. I have to say, I fell in love with this sweet, delicious treat. I’d give a Nobel Prize to the person who invented it!🫢🤣 But be aware: it is like a drug — once you try it, you can’t stop eating it all day long. I enjoyed it so much, and "Manteigaria" is definitely one of the best places for it. (During my short visit, I tried it in several different spots!)

Tucked away in the Bonfim neighborhood of Porto, A Cozinha do Manel is a beloved traditional restaurant that has been serving up delectable dishes for over 30 years. The cozy dining room, adorned with granite and tiles, offers a warm welcome to patrons. The menu features mouthwatering starters like alheira assada and queijo da Serra, followed by hearty mains such as wood-fired lamb and fish.
Absolutely amazing! A little bit of a stroll from the city centre of Porto but well worth it. Best Codfish dish I've ever had and the tenderloin was absolutely perfect too. A quaint, well-maintained restaurant with traditional azulejo tiles and frequented by locals, a sign of quality. The service is friendly and helpful. The menu features characteristic dishes, beautifully presented and generous portions, and the wine list is excellent. Prices are in keeping with the ambiance. This wonderful restaurant, recommended by a good friend of ours, was well worth the 30 minute Uber ride from Vilanova de Gaia. The food quality was extraordinary, the fish and shrimp were swim-fresh and cooked to perfection. We had boiled bouquet shrimp (camarão da costa) and clams as starters, followed by a deliciously grilled wild seabass. The waiter insisted on serving us the home-made almond tart as a desert, accompanied by a 10-year old Madeira (verdelho). We picked a delicious sparkling wine from the Bairrada region to accompany the entire meal: “Agua Viva”. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of food. A memorable dinner for sure. Will be back! Highly recommended!

Good quality food and fair value for money, but the service was cold and unfriendly. We ordered the Arroz Marisco for two, which came in a large pot and was served by the waiter. Unfortunately, he was inattentive, and I ended up pouring the water and wine myself. The cuisine was excellent, but the service needs improvement, you have the feeling you aren’t welcomed. Prices are on the higher side.

Beautiful restaurant in Matosinhos. Service is really old school (older waiters, limited English but they’re doing their best). We wanted to know how many oysters are in 1kg and he actually brought us the oysters on a platter to see how many are there. I think it’s expensive by local standards but we enjoyed it. Got some fresh oysters (1kg), 2 big prawns, one portion of clams and cod plus a bottle of house white wine. Total damage: 120Eur

The chef and his team provide a friendly and welcoming environment where guests can embark on a gastronomic journey through a tasting menu consisting of 10 moments and surprises, featuring national and seasonal products sourced from small producers across the country.
Let me start by saying I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It’s like watching an orchestra play in symphony. This restaurant has no servers. The chefs serve you the food, prepared in front of your eyes. The experience of watching the chefs prepare each experience was something I had never witnessed before. The flavors were also stunning. Very seafood heavy, which I didn’t have a problem with, since I do enjoy seafood. Service was amazing and all of the employees were a pleasure to interact with.

Absolutely outstanding in all criteria. Well balanced dishes, beautifully described and presented. Unique flavour combos, creativity and passion on display. Not pretentious at all, friendly and warm team. We took the local wine pairing which was a great learning experience made even better by the charm and knowledge of the brilliant and engaging sommelier. A must-visit. Out of 100's of superb restaurant experiences all over the world, this ranks very very near the top.

Amazing! This place should be two Michelin stars. Incredible service and astounding flavors in the dishes. There was only one dish that was a skip for me. Every other dish was great, and five to six were world class. They also gave an additional 3 dishes on top of the 10 dish menu for 160€. If I could give a 100 stars I would! I had my 40th birthday dinner here with my best mates in August when we were visiting Portugal. I’d read the reviews and was excited to try this place out. Boy of boy was I wowed. Firstly the restaurant atmosphere is so welcoming and warm. The staff are BEYOND amazing - I think we met every member of the restaurant as they served us dishes and just explained everything so phenomenally. The sommelier was incredible at recommending wines for us. And Chef Vasco coming to our table, serving us, chatting to us, giving us great recommendations and even clearing our plates was something I’ve never experienced in Michelin star restaurant. Every dish was unified, unique and so memorable- I was blown away and I’m so glad to have had this experience. Do not hesitate to book - you will not be disappointed. Thank you Chef Vasco & team for your love, care and thoughtfulness in curating such a wonderful experience - one of the best meals I’ve had. Pls let us know when you open your restaurant in Sydney!!!

We have been to a couple of Michelin rated restaurants in different countries and wanted to try the experience in Oporto as we heard great things about its cuisine. After some research, we decided to give Euskalduna a try and it really didn’t disappoint. Let me start with the team and the atmosphere, in previous Michelin rated restaurants the vibe sometimes felt somehow pretentious and to rigid, while at Euskalduna it was the opposite, without loosing the attention to detail, the decoration, cutlery and the human touch really makes you feel that you are at a friends apartment who is cooking for you. Secondly, been so close to the chefs and been able to see everything they do felt like we were watching a calm and relax “the bear” episode. Finally, the food is amazing but I will let the photos speak for themselves and for you to give it a try because it’s definitely worth it. Ps. We also tried the bakery (Ogi) that makes their sourdough bread and it’s also definitely a must if you are around. Thank you to all the chefs for an amazing experience.

Our favourites were the sweet prawn and steamed egg cake, the steak and the warm turnip green salad 🦐 🥩 🫜 Best steak we ever had 🙌🏼 Cocktails were amazing too and very unique

Enjoyable dinner overall. The bite size starter dishes (I tried three) were creative and interesting, though missed the mark slightly on flavour — more conceptually clever than delicious. I had the John Dory for my main, which was good, but I definitely had food envy when I saw the beef fillet being served nearby — I’d recommend going for that instead! Service was warm, although I was forgotten about at the end and could have walked without paying (I didn’t!). Still, staff were friendly and the space was immaculate, with great attention to detail in the food. Worth a visit. Bill €130 1 person / 3 courses & 2 drinks

This place was such a random find! Just happen to walk in and we were so pleasantly surprised. The ambience, the food, the wine, service everything was just perfect! We relished every bite of our meal. And watching the chefs at work was a bonus. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Amazing restaurant in the heart of Porto. The dishes are all amazingly tasteful, with different and unexpected combinations. The room is lively, with an open view to the kitchen and dishes being prepared in the moment by the chefs. Would definitely recommend and will come back for another wonderful experience.

We had our best meal in Porto here! The ambience was warm and lovely. The dishes were top quality, a rendition of refined local cuisine. We loved that each dish was carefully and thoughtfully explained to us. To top it off, Pamela attended to us in such a friendly and helpful manner. We felt very welcome thanks to her. Can’t wait to visit when we are back and definitely would recommend dining here!

After numerous recommendations from friends and chefs alike, we've been meaning to visit Cozinha das Flores for a long time. After seeing the reviews, I decided to adjust my expectations. However, after having tasty cocktails, finding the interior design (especially the cooking area and the lighting) impressive, and being served the first starter (bulhão pato) I knew that our experience would exceed my expectations. We were very surprised by how balanced all the dishes were and that for once a Portuguese restaurant was not scared of serving dishes with a kick to it. The seafood rice with lobster was exceptional - among the best we've had in Porto - distinguished by its unique citrus notes. Out of, bulhão pato, turnip natas, smoked squid, local green asparagus, blue lobster wet rice and the salad as a side dish, the only under seasoned dish was the asparagus (it lacked salt). While the food deserves high praise, the service had inconsistencies. We experienced a somewhat chaotic approach without a dedicated server and faced lengthy waits for wine and our first course. However, the sommelier who assisted us was incredibly kind and single-handedly elevated our service experience. I'd highly recommend it for its outstanding culinary offerings, though it's worth adjusting service expectations.

Hands down my favorite restaurant. The consistently delicious food and outstanding service are what keep me coming back. The ambiance is warm and stylish, and I love being able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work. It adds something special to the entire experience. We always start with a few of the snack dishes. The spider crab donuts are a must — light, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin the meal. We like to explore the other snacks too, and one standout has been the crispy laminated dough with cockles, which bursts with flavor and texture. For starters, the smoked squid from the Azores with chickpeas is always a favorite. It’s rich, perfectly cooked, and full of depth. The asparagus options tend to be lighter and refreshing, offering a nice contrast to the bolder flavors. When it comes to main dishes, the John Dory and grilled beef fillet are both beautifully prepared and reliably excellent. That said, I find myself returning to the wild blue fish and pork shoulder steak. They’re both unique, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. If you’re dining with a group, the tomato and blue lobster rice is a fantastic shared dish — generous and deeply satisfying. Dessert is not to be missed. The Milk dessert is one of the most creative I’ve had. It captures the essence of sweet milk in multiple forms, and it’s delicate, not overly sweet. On our latest visit, we also tried the cherry stone ice cream. The cherries had just the right amount of tartness, making it a refreshing and memorable way to end the meal. Some items change with the seasons, but the menu is always balanced and full of inspired choices. We love bringing friends and family here because we know they’ll experience the same incredible food and service we always do.

We had a really great dinner experience! The food and wine were superb and so was the service. The food was original and tasty but not overcomplicated. Thr restaurant has a very high quality finish and despite sitting next to the kitchen, we didn't smell of food and it wasn't laud. It was probably one of our highlights when visitng Porto and will come back when we visit again.

Graham's Port Lodge, established in 1820 by Scottish brothers, offers an elegant and exclusive experience for those seeking to avoid the bustling riverside crowds. The tour begins with a brief video followed by an informative guided tour delving into the history of the Symington family and the various types of Port wine. Visitors appreciate the unhurried pace set by knowledgeable guides, making it one of the top choices for Port wine lodges.
Great wine tour and tasting! We walked up from the water's edge and that is an experience in its own right. Once at the top, the view over the city from Graham's restaurant terrace is incredible. We were lucky to find couple of places on their vintage tour. The tasting took place after the cellar tour I the vintage 1room.we had 3 port and cheese and Pastel de nata. I would recommend the tour but better to book in advance otherwise you may need to wait or don't find room. Our English speaking guide was very knowledgeable and articulate!

This is a small Port winery established since 1890s with a lovely adjourning Vinum restaurant overlooking the beautiful city. All the wine making and corking process is still being performed traditionally by hand. The port tasting was interesting as I tasted rich and sweet to nutty and smooth (my first time). The dinner was gastronomical (grilled sausages, crispy pork belly, wine pairing, etc.). 😋
Christine — Google review
Graham’s winery was amazing! The small museum is very interesting, and our guide was excellent, fluent in English and shared lots of fascinating details. The port wine tasting was great as well. Portions for the food pairings could be a bit bigger, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

We visited for a late-morning pre-booked English tour & tasting. We walked from Porto, which was all fine until we started to climb to Graham's - it was a challenging walk on the roads, with very teeny tiny shoulders! We arrived with only a few minutes to spare for our scheduled tour time. The exterior grounds and view are GORGEOUS - absolutely spectacular. If I had realized they were that nice I likely would have just had a drink on the terrace to soak it all in. However, the tour was mostly interesting; longer and more detailed than I had anticipated it being. I'm glad we did it, though I don't remember any of the information provided now. I think we had the misfortune of being in a tour group with some rather pretentious types; I felt a little bad for the tour guide (who was very friendly) as some of the guests seemed to be peppering her with some snooty-seeming (to me) questions. Maybe it was just a handful of bougie travellers, I don't know. The tour was followed by a tasting in a large, open room; we just did the basic tasting of 3 ports (I'm not a Port person, but the LBV was good) but I noticed others likely purchased one of the upgraded experiences with tasting items, etc. That part was mostly left on our own to taste, after the guide explained things, which I liked. We walked through the shop at the end, took another look around the beautiful landscaping and terrace, and hopped on an Uber back to our next destination!

We enjoyed the wine tasting tour very much. Learned a lot about port wine and I liked the 20 year tawny wine the best among the three offerings. The view outside is spectacular!

Went here at open and everyone was super accommodating and nice. Did a tasting and bought lots of goodies at the gift shop. The shop is fully stocked with amazing stuff at great prices.
Michael G — Google review
The views are the best of any port winery in the city and the tasting rooms are very nice. I just wish I’d skipped the “premium” tasting (the “six grapes” blend was horrible) and cheese “pairing” (quite bad) in favor of the nicer tasting options.

Taberna Santo António is a charming, rustic restaurant located in Porto, specifically at Passeio das Virtudes. Run by the welcoming couple Mr. Vitor and Mrs. Herminia, this family-owned eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. The menu features mouth-watering Portuguese comfort food such as bifana, a delightful combination of tender pork meat and flavorful beer-based sauce in a soft traditional bun.
Decided on this booking through trip advisor Definitely book in advance as it fills very quickly. Small quirky Portuguese bistro with authentic Portuguese cuisine We went for the pork belly and pork cheek with rice and potato’s that was divine and so tender to cut Desert was the chocolate mousse that definitely didn’t disappoint This paired with a few cold superbocks marked the perfect start to a Saturday evening. Will definitely recommend to anyone who decides to holiday in Porto

After reading all the positive reviews and judging by the queue to get in, I had quite high expectations. It turned out to be ‘ok’ but I wouldn’t rave about it. We visited for lunch and at a busy time which probably had an effect as service was pretty slow and I didn’t think the food was anything special. Reasonably priced to be fair. My daughter had the sardines and rice in tomato sauce, I had the pork in breadcrumbs layered with cheese, fried egg and curry sauce. Best part was the crème brûlée. Fries were quite greasy…nice atmosphere and friendly staff but probably not one I’d queue and wait for again.
Lisa M — Google review
A cozy tavern with a real homey atmosphere. If you come with a group, it’s best to book a table in advance, but if you’re alone, there’s always a spot at the lively bar. The food is amazing – the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Desserts were also excellent, especially the chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The staff work very quickly, and the manager, who speaks five languages, makes the atmosphere even more welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

absolutely great experience. The atmosphere, the place and the most important - the food were fantastic! we ordered 3 dishes and we didn't expect that they will be so big! Real Portuguese food, fresh ingredients and very good prices! I recommend for 100 %, especially the meat stew with beans. This lunch made our day and the full impression of local food. Thanks for your work guys!

We had heard great things about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try! The food was good, though quite heavy with very large portions. It might just be that we didn’t choose the best dishes for the season—on a very hot summer day, the stew-based menu felt a bit too rich, and we couldn’t finish our plates. Service was friendly and efficient, and we definitely recommend booking a table in advance.

The roasted ham shank was good, so is the pig cheek in red wine. A cozy little restaurant with good food and atmosphere. I however didn't like the creme brulee, it could be better, but just my opinion.

The foods are worth recommending. But!!, be careful of the 6 shady bacalhau croquettes at the beginning, they are not free. We said we don’t eat them and please take them away, but in the end they are still in the receipt. After complaining, they are gone, but the behavior remains very shady.

Conga is a down-to-earth restaurant in Porto, known for its pork sandwiches, draft beers, and wine. The eatery offers a variety of gastronomic treasures, with specialties like tender pulled pork marinated in garlic and spice served in bifanas buns. The menu also features steaks accompanied by potatoes and thin dishes that leave patrons more than satisfied without emptying their wallets.
The food was fantastic!!!!! Bifana (pork burger) costs only €3.5 and they are so tasty, so yummy!!!! Steak was only €14 and very good! FRANCESINHA COM BIFE DO VAZIO was so yummy. It's a local food and cheap, voluminous, and meaty!!! Highly recommended! The service was good. Fast, hospitable, nice, and efficient. Very good locally based, cheap place but great food place!

If you can look past the loud tourists, the bifanas are truly yummy. I love the spice and how fresh they were. The vegetable soup was very good too. Nice job!

The restaurant had a simple but pleasant atmosphere. Servers were pleasant and friendly. The sandwich was tasty and very well priced, the only thing I didn’t like was that the sauce made the roll soggy on some parts. I do not like soggy bread but great concept and worth trying out!
Mary G — Google review
Update: I ended up coming here 4x during my 3-day trip to Porto. It was really addictive. Lovely bifanas! This was a great accidental find. We came here after having a racist experience at the Piri Piri chicken store opposite and were very heartened by the impartial service here. It turned out that Conga is actually very famous. Bifanas were absolutely delicious - salty, soft meat with a slight tinge of spice, I could have eaten two in a go. We tried different combinations - with rice and fries, but decided that the original style of having the meat with bread was the best as it soaks up the meaty greasy spicy goodness. Sangria is also fizzy and great in the heat, but slightly sweet. So good we came back twice in a day!

Authentic Portuguese food and experience. Came recommended from host and was worth the visit. Had Bacalhau and Steak as options on day I went. The Cod, rice and bean/greens dish were excellent! Quick for food and service was great, and best yet not a tourist trap with all locals. Will visit again.

We went here for a traditional bifana and we got it! The broth was so flavorful and a little spicy. Seriously delicious. We also got the veggie soup and the caldo verde - both were very bland, but hot and fresh. The atmosphere was a standard, sports place, nothing special. The water closet was a bit messy and smelled strongly of urine. Really great value, it was the most affordable meal we had while in Porto.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Iconic Porto Flavors at Their Best! Conga is a true Porto institution — the kind of place every local knows and every visitor should experience. Famous for its bifanas, this spot serves up sandwiches that are simply out of this world — tender pork simmered in a spicy, flavorful sauce that’s both addictive and unforgettable. The atmosphere is lively and full of character, with that perfect mix of tradition and energy that makes Porto so special. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient — even when it’s busy (which it often is!). Pair your bifana with an ice-cold beer or a glass of vinho verde, and you’ve got one of the best meals in the city for an unbeatable price. Conga isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a Porto experience. Simple, delicious, and absolutely essential for anyone who loves authentic Portuguese food. 🇵🇹🔥

One of the best places we ate on our Portugal trip! The atmosphere is welcoming, homey, and friendly. I love the architecture and history behind the building and restaurant. The owner and server are super engaging and very helpful with food suggestions and pairings. We closed the place down after 3 1/2 hrs of sitting at the table and chatting with the owner and another couple sitting near us. Just an all around good feeling with delicious home cooked food and great port! A must visit when in Porto!

This spot is on a side street in the busiest part of central Porto. That said, I sat outside and had a very peaceful experience with little foot traffic. Service, food and wine were excellent and very well priced. If you are in central Porto and are looking for authentic Portugal food, this is a great place.

Service friendly and helpful, but my main course arrived while I was still eating my starter and just put on the table anyway. Enormous portions of evidently good quality tuna but so salty I couldn't finish it. Tomato Rice really watery. Seating may be authentic but it's extremely uncomfortable. All in all disappointed given all the rave reviews.

You would not expect such a nice restaurant in this small street. When you enter you get astonished with the spirit of this place. If you are down or upstairs it’s an experience just to be sitting there on those original chairs. Some tables are also piece of art. The decoration and architectural elements are very interesting. Then you can order from short, but complete menu. From different starters to main dish all is appetizing. I would just put more details about each dish on the paper. But that’s fine, very friendly staff will help you to explain what all those traditional names and dishes are made from. I think you can’t make wrong with any of the offered meal, we tried almost everything. Both starters and mains are delicious. They have original and traditional taste full of species and flavors. It might not be for everyone, but definitely worth it! Obrigado.

Leitaria da Quinta do Paço is a well-established brand with 9 stores across mainland Portugal, dating back to its foundation in 1920. Initially focused on dairy products, it has expanded its offerings to include delicious cakes and eclairs with various toppings. The café is famous for serving coffee alongside their renowned eclairs filled with Chantilly and milk chocolate icing. The interior is adorned with vintage photographs from the 1920s, showcasing the historical popularity of their Chantilly.
This was recommended by a Portuguese friend. Over the moon that she mentioned it to us. Famous for its eclairs. These celebrity items include classic (chocolate), lemon, caramel and many other flavours. Most of them have soft icing on top, but there is one with a brittle topping. They sell other sweet things like cakes and Berliner (doughnuts) too. We got a menu (Brunch Guloso) which included a croissant filled with Chantilly cream, a sneclair, orange juice and a cafe espresso. The croissant is not like a french one, as it's more like a brioche rather than flaky pastry. We thought it might be odd with cream inside, but we loved it. The sneclair is a savoury eclair and it's was an outstanding invention. We had it with eggs and bacon. It was a light meal, which was exactly what we needed. Then we had 2 small eclairs (so we could try more flavours rather than having just 1 big one). We got a classic and passion fruit and mango. They were nice. It's pretty much like an original (i.e. French) eclair, but slightly wider. We liked them very much nonetheless. In all we spent €10,90 and think it was value for money. Paid by credit card. Plenty of seating inside and outside just before 1.45pm on a Tuesday in September. Definitely worth a visit for tourists! They have other outposts if you can't make it over here. Taberna do Largo, opened in 2013 near Ribeira at Largo Sao Domingos, aims to showcase the diverse flavors of Portugal by collaborating with small-scale producers from different regions. The restaurant offers a tapas-style dinner featuring traditional dishes such as olives, alheira sausage, Portuguese sliders with salami and cheese, baked cheese with honey, octopus salad, and sautéed mushrooms.
We were off season ( Feb) and well after lunch so had no issue getting a table. I suspect this changes when it's peak season so keep this in mind. A lot of well rated restaurants in Porto did seem to require a booking so if you have a specific cuisine and place in mind, book it! We wanted to try some tapas as we planned to have dinner a little later. My other half had the Portuguese sausage as well as olives and the bread basket , though it technically comes in a paper bag. I had the tomato , cured ham and basil sandwich and we shared an almond tart. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. Would definitely recommend a visit

We really enjoyed our dinner here. We arrived to Porto a bit late in the evening, so we went for dinner 10 pm and they still served us delicious food! We had the octopus salad, canned sardines, And Portuguese sausage. We like all of them. Food was not fancy but delicious. We had Becalhau (not the dumplings), Rojoes and Pork shank sandwich. Becalhau was super good, must try if you like fish. Rojoes was a hearty, home dish but not too amazing. The sandwich was in decent portion, with flavourful, meaty pulled pork shank. For drinks we had sangria in port wine and somersby. The Sangria was quite sweet but its expected, quite refreshing indeed, I do recommend. Our waiter and waitress (Gustav and Alexandra) were very friendly and responsive. Had a great night here.

This was our first meal in Porto and what a great way to start! We had the steak special and the rojões along with sangria and beer and then the cheesecake ice cream for dessert. While the food wasn’t the most delicious, there was a wide selection of healthy options on the menu, and the prices were quite reasonable. I especially enjoyed the coffee tonic — it was excellent! The atmosphere inside is very cozy, with a beautiful view from the window. Overall, I recommend this place

This place has an incredible view. On the first floor, there's an enclosed area with large windows opening up to an ocean view, and on the second floor, there's a small balcony where you can enjoy the scenery. The girls selling desserts are very pleasant, engaging, and ready to recommend. The service is also quite attentive. However, unexpectedly, we didn't like any of the desserts or coffee. We ordered cappuccino, lemon tart, and meringue. The cappuccino was unimpressive, and my friend said she didn’t like it at all. The tart was overly sweet. Typically, lemon is added to balance the sweetness, but this tart lacked lemon. The jam was too sweet, and the lemon flavor was almost nonexistent. The dessert was difficult to eat because it was too sugary. The meringue was simply dry like a cracker, making it unpleasant to eat. I would say it’s worth visiting for the view, but not for the desserts. The desserts, which should be the establishment’s specialty, turned out to be completely disappointing. So decide for yourself whether to visit or not.

Most importantly: Here you can have a cup of coffee with a lovely view of the ocean. Everything else is a bonus. The coffee is reasonable, the cakes are okay, I recommend the English cake; a variety of breakfast options. The bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible (in the basement, lots of stairs), and even older people may have difficulty getting down. The service is friendly.

Tavi in Foz is our house café. We absolutely love this place, with staff who remember how you take your coffee, good manu with traditional and also innovative dishes. It's a place for a light meal, with excellent view of the ocean. They serve also healthy dishes, vegetarian and vegan. With vegan they can improve a bit with protein (like tofu in the salad or cheakpeas), but all in all, they have consistently good light food, and always with a smile. Don't miss the English cake. It's super moist and with good spices.

We stumbled across this place while in Foz and loved it. The Portuguese tarts were the best we've had here ( pastry light and crisp, filling creamy), best cappuccino but a little different to what we're used to, mint infusion with real leaves was wonderful. Delightful service ( the lady in the bakery section had excellent English) and loved the sea view. Not so many people when we visited and the weather was over ast so the balcony not open but that was fi e by us.

Salta O Muro is a hidden gem among the fish and seafood restaurants in Matosinhos. The ambiance is unassuming, with old plastic chairs and a handwritten menu, but the real treat is choosing your fresh fish from the counter to be expertly grilled right outside. Specialties include fried European pilchards, grilled largehead tail with green sauce, and anglerfish stew.
This is a family restaurant serving a variety of fresh grilled fish. The potatoes were well seasoned, the vegetables well prepared and flavourful. The grilled fish options for 1 or 2 people were great. Highly recommend for a casual, family style experience. It is a quick Uber ride from downtown.

Salta o Muro is a hidden gem in Matosinhos that captures the essence of Portuguese coastal dining. This family-run restaurant offers an authentic experience, serving fresh seafood in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is a celebration of the sea, featuring daily catches prepared with simplicity and care. From grilled sardines to octopus rice, each dish showcases the natural flavors of the ingredients. The accompanying sides, like the well-seasoned potatoes and fresh vegetables, complement the main courses perfectly. What sets Salta o Muro apart is its commitment to quality and tradition. The staff, including Sr. Moreira and Jorge, provide exceptional service, making guests feel like part of the family. Their knowledge and passion for the cuisine enhance the dining experience. While the prices reflect the quality of the seafood, the value is undeniable. The generous portions and exquisite flavors make every euro well spent. It’s advisable to visit more than once to explore the diverse offerings on the menu. In summary, Salta o Muro is a must-visit for anyone seeking genuine Portuguese seafood in a cozy setting. The combination of fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and heartfelt hospitality ensures a memorable meal every time.

I walked around the entire block checking out all the restaurants and eventually landed here because it was recommended to me. At first it did not appear to be interesting because their grill is not in front of the street like the other places. However, it’s been the best meal out of my 8 days in Portugal. I wish I could have eaten here everyday. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious and juicy but very simply prepared. I also appreciated that it was a no frills type of joint unlike the other restaurants that invested in fancy dining. In that sense, I found this restaurant to be very charming. Finally, our meal was very affordable adding up to about 30ish euros. Our server was very kind which I appreciated a lot.
Janice C — Google review
This restaurant was a little difficult to navigate as the waiters spoke limited English but it was more than made up for in hospitality and willingness to help. The food though was insane, the grilled sea bass was nothing short of perfection. Seasoned just right, immaculate crisp with super soft meat inside. The side of green turnip rice was something new and unexpected. The peppers were also great - especially the smaller ones - nice char, well salted. The bread here felt unique to me compared to all the other bread we tried in Portugal, they gave two kinds: one with salted meat embedded in it and another that was insanely dense, slightly sweet and just different. I’ve never had bread like that one. We also got the small fried sardines which were super soft and totally worth it as an appetizer. The chef came out and checked on us and although we don’t speak any Portuguese and she didn’t speak any English it was clear that she was so happy to have us and expressed her gratitude over how we cleaned our plates (nothing was left)

We were given a recommendation from Pão da Terra Cafe and so happy we asked! This little place served us grilled peppers, fresh sea bass, cooked cabbage and to die for potatoes! Paired with a vinho Verde. The servers were friendly and very professional. I don't mean this in a bad way but this place is not fancy, but don't let that fool you, it was one of the best meals we had!

Our favourite meal we had during our Porto trip. Felt like an authentic experience as everyone around us was local. Simple fare but executed perfectly. Our waiter spoke some English and was able to recommend his favourites to us.

Tucked into an otherwise touristy strip on the beach is this familial restaurant run by a small staff and a matriarch in the kitchen - at least that’s what I picked up when I was there. No matter, the food was exquisite - simple, singing, fish dishes with unadulterated vegetable sides dressed in olive oil. The service was beautiful - even if little was shared in terms of language. To put it simply, it was a whole vibe.

Very tight inside, outside seating is much better, but don’t let that stop you from enjoying some of the best seafood!

Casa Guedes Progresso is a Portuguese restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. It's known for its delicious food, great service, and age (dating from 1899!). The interior of the restaurant is interesting and it feels like stepping back in time.
I really enjoyed the food, and I have to highlight that the pork sandwich is a must-try at this place. As a starter, I ordered a codfish croquette with sheep cheese, which was also very good, but I have to say the sandwich was outstanding. It was absolutely delicious. I was served by a guy named Sydney, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was also great, and overall it’s a place where you can eat very well.

We visited this place yesterday and had an amazing experience! Our waitress, Marriana, gave us the best service we’ve had in all of Portugal. She was approachable, always smiling, kind, and gave us genuine recommendations. We tried the passion fruit sangria, octopus, and sandwich #14 (with Brie and caramelised onions). Everything was excellent! The sangria was rich in citrus and fresh fruit, the octopus was perfectly cooked and impressively served as a whole (not just a few tentacles like in most places), and the sandwich was absolutely delicious—even though we had initially hoped to try Bifanas, but Marriana’s recommendation did not disappoint. The prices are also on point. The only small suggestion would be to serve lemon wedges with the octopus. Highly recommended!

Words can’t properly describe how much I loved sandwich no.8 . It was absolutely amazing, the pork was so tender and all the ingredients of good quality. Service was always fast and nice at the 2 locations I’ve been to ( Progresso& Tradicional). I will be coming back for sure each time I will visit Porto.

While in Portugal, trying a Bifana is a must. The Bifana here at Case Guesdes were good but not as good as the ones we had in Lisbon. This restaurant does have other Portuguese dishes on their menu besides Bifana so it is a great place to stop by and have dinner especially after a long day of walking.

Good place to try the Francesinha, ours came loaded with lots of meat, it was great value for the money, in addition to a $3 euro gigantic plate of fries. The gravy it came with was also delicious and made the dish so much better. I have to admit we were skeptical of the francesinha but glad we decided to try it here! We also ordered the octopus but could have given it a miss as it was a bit mushy and not very fresh, although it came with a large portion of spinach that was seasoned well.

Blind Restaurante, located in the luxurious Torel Palace Hotel, offers a unique dining experience where diners entrust the chefs to surprise and delight their senses. The tasting menu, named Blind Emotion, features eight or ten courses paired with exquisite wines. Chef Vitor Matos transforms raw ingredients into culinary masterpieces that are served in a moodily lit venue adorned with black and white floors and elegant table settings.
What a fun, delicious, and unique experience! It was a degustation menu and every course/experience was exceptional. From a one bite explosion of flavors in your mouth, to brushing your teeth with a lemon flavor toothpaste to clean your palette before the next course. Everything was fantastic. At one point, a blindfold was placed in front of us and we were asked to tie it around our eyes for the next course. A bowel was placed in front of us and we all tried to guess the ingredients of the dish. It was a balsamic reduction with a quail egg, potato purée, and mushrooms. All the dishes, fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room we sat in, was filled with wine bottles behind glass cabinets, and there was a single long stem red rose hanging from the ceiling upside down. over the table.

My parents, my husband and I had 12-course meal with wine pairing on May 27th, 2025. The WORST Michelin-starred restaurant ever in my and my entire family's lives, in terms of both service and food. There are certain details or attentive services that any restaurants must meet to earn Michelin stars, and they did not do none of them. I’m very doubtful of how they achieved stars unless their services drastically dropped after their achievement. Just to add some credibility on my following feedback, my husband and I have been to quite a few Michelin-starred restaurants in different countries, including one other amazing one in Algarve, Portugal, and here are the reasons why Blind Restaurant does not even deserve any michelin star; 1) Right from the start, I found a big hole in my napkin. They changed it after I requested to replace it with a new one. 2) I found a bug in my wine. The manager, Pedro, did not even apologize, took it away, and replaced it with a new glass with pouring wine again without saying anything. Later on, he came to our table for check in and I mentioned that wine was amazing but I was quite surprised to find the bug in the wine glass for Michelin-starred restaurant and even more surprised to not have heard apology or anything. He said "Sorry that happened but since we normally leave our wine glasses outside, we have no control of having bugs coming in sometimes". I replied "If you're already aware of those possibilities that you might have bugs in wine glass and did not even check before you serve, then I think it's even more issue. Plus, I don't think you'd want to answer like that if Michelin Inspector visited and faced the same issue.". Then he said apologies real quick, and left the table. 3) They had ‘water pairing’ in their drink menu. We found it interesting but because we chose to have a wine pairing, we did not do water pairing but decided to try one of the “fancy” water on their list, which was Icelandic water. I asked a sommelier, Wagner, where this water is sourced from in Iceland, and his answer was “I don’t know. Maybe from all over the Iceland.” It’s okay not to know but usually from my experience in other Michelin-starred restaurants, they would try to find it out and provide the best answer that they could give instead of simply saying “I don’t know.” Also, for wine pairing, the sommelier, Wagner, sometimes skipped even describing the flavours of wines that I had to ask him to describe some notes or palettes for the wines that he was providing. 4) After I returned from washroom, I did not find my napkin organized or folded back again, which should’ve been done if Michelin-starred restaurant. It wasn’t just once throughout the dinner, but multiple times happened. 5) When customers are looking for washrooms in the middle of the dinner, normally they should either guide them to washroom or at least let customers know where they are. They did not do that. 6) For Michelin-starred restaurants, they scrape the dining table here and there to clean up. They do that but not thoroughly at all. Even after they scraped the table, all the dirts or crumbles still remained and they weren’t like micro-sizes or anything at all. 7) Usually for Michelin-starred restaurants, two servers are paired together to serve 4 people’s dishes so that they can place down the plates and take out the plates all at the same time. Here in Blind, I did not see that; on some courses they did, on some others, they did not. 8) My family’s table was the last and they already started cleaning before we finished. They even closed the main door and we had to exit through their elevator located behind. 9) Majority of the dishes were way too salty. 10) It took about 5 hour to finish the meal. It took way too long time that half way through, our dinner wasn’t even enjoyable anymore due to all the things that I mentioned above and taking too long time. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This was a total waste of money for this quality of service and food.

What a fun, whimsical experience. Everything was fantastic. The service from all angles was beyond reproach. We enjoyed every minute of the creative and interactive meal. We felt well tended to without feeling any overbearing presence. The food itself was delicious and while we had favorites, we enjoyed everything immensely. A job done perfectly.

Had the 10 courses this evening at 155€/pax. The intro given by the service personnel about sensations and textures to come for the meal, raised my expectations. Overselling. There were more misses than hits. The amuses bouches failed to titillate; too much carbs involved, flavours fell short. Next dish of foie gras, saved the night and I thought there’s still hope…2 other mets were of fine dining standard; the « couscous »of snapper and shrimps and the pigeon with beets & rhubarb, cuisson of the fish and pigeon 👍. The experience of being blind folded and blind tasting? Ok some may appreciate it for its novelty, the test wasn’t hard especially if one has an educated palate. The challenging part was actually feeding yourself without staining your outfit with the blindfold on. Fast forward to desserts, sigh. Pre-dessert was ok, Actual dessert? A let down. Presentation alright, yoghurt ice cream, raspberries, meringue, lychee slivers. Lychee used came from a can. For FINE DINING and I was presented with canned food? WHY? Chef Stephane Costa did come to our table at the end of the meal. I appreciated that. However, there’s work to be done and returning client I will not be.

We had the 10 moments tasting menu, the experience was amazing, you will try one dish blind and make your senses feel the flavors, very small dishes but definitely needed to try it, the pictures show the moments but I will not name them I will leave them to your imagination, service was Impecable, and atmosphere invites you to stay so long waiting for each dish, it took more than three hours.

The restaurant visit was a wonderful and unique experience that I can recommend to everyone. My special thanks go to Yuri, who accompanied us throughout the evening. She is an incredibly pleasant and friendly person who handles her work with professionalism. When she told us that she is only 21 years old, I was surprised! Not because she looks old – she very much looks like a beautiful young lady – but because her demeanor is so mature and confident. I am very impressed by her and her skills, and I am certain that she is a great asset to this restaurant.

*An unforgettable experience!* We did the 10-course tasting menu with wine pairing at Blind in Porto to celebrate a wedding, and it was truly exceptional. Each dish was creative and full of flavor, and the wine pairings were spot-on. The entire experience was unique and immersive, and the staff were phenomenal — warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. The price is definitely on the higher end, but for a special occasion, it’s worth it. Definitely recommend

We had a wonderful meal at Blind! Great food and atmosphere, without feeling too stuffy. The food was delicious – lots of small bites but still very filling. We did our meal with the wine pairing and they matched the wine perfectly with the dishes. The restaurant is very elegant, but the meal itself was very fun, with some courses involving an actual blindfold, a toy caterpillar, and even tooth brushing. A very fun evening with very attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

The establishment offers quick service, making it an ideal spot for lunch or dinner. Visitors have praised the flavorful fillings such as ham and cheese, chicken, red curry chicken, slow-cooked veal, shiitake and shrimp.
I visited Oficina dos Rissóis in Porto and had rissóis for the very first time. I didn't know what to expect, but I chose the veal option—and it was surprisingly delicious! Perfectly crispy on the outside and full of flavor. I also tried the mini pizzas, which were absolutely tasty and just the right portion. To finish, we had the chocolate mousse with hazelnut crumble, which was simply delightful—rich, smooth, and with a perfect crunch. Great place, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Porto. Highly recommended!

I had dinner here and both waiters who helped me out were very friendly and helpful. The rissois are perfect - flavourful and perfectly crispy on the outside without being oily. I also tried the tomato rice, which was unlike anything I’d had before. It tasted fresh and well seasoned and cooked. It was a bit oily for my taste but somehow not in a bad greasy way. I highly recommend this place for its food, atmosphere and people!

I heard this place is one of the best places in the city to try Rissois, and this place did not disappoint. This is a small place with limited seating options and this place is always full. The ambience of the place is very modern with its bar counter just out in the front. The server here was very helpful and suggested the food that I can try based on my taste. Capela Incomum is a unique and intriguing wine bar located in Porto, housed within a small chapel. The decor maintains the original altar, creating a charming ambiance. The owners' passion for wine is evident in their diverse selection, featuring renowned producers like Anselmo Mendes as well as hidden gems from the Douro region. Visitors can enjoy live fado concerts twice a month on Thursdays. While perfect for wine enthusiasts, the intimate space may not be suitable for large groups.
What an amazing gem of a restaurant. The food, the service (shout out to Carla who was absolutely phenomenal). It was so delicious we went there twice in our four day stay in Porto. A wine restaurant like no other. At the end of a sloping street in Porto—one that doesn’t try to impress you—there it stands: an old church with a yellow plastered facade and a cross on its roof. A wonderful old tree guards the entrance, and just in front, a few simple tables and chairs rest by the edge of a stone wall. Cars pass by on the cobbled street. You see trash bins. You hear the usual city noise. It’s nothing special. Until it is. You sit down. And then something shifts. A strange and quiet stillness creeps into you. As if some unfamiliar energy has gently entered your body. Suddenly, you’re thinking about life. Not in a dramatic way. Just… honestly. It’s not mystical, but it feels real. Like something in this place touches a part of you that’s usually hidden. And then the very tasty wine arrives, a high-quality local product. A perfect match for the moment, for this place, for this quiet transformation. It’s an experience. With Porto. With yourself. With something you’ll carry long after you leave.

Apego Restaurante is a cozy eatery located in a tranquil street near Trinidade train station, offering a fusion of French and Portuguese cuisine. Chef Aurora Goy puts her own spin on local dishes, such as a unique tarte Tatin and crispy pomme paillasson topped with mackerel and leeks in white-wine sauce. The ambiance is enhanced by global music reverberating off the high stone walls and yellow banquettes.
We visited this restaurant to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and I was looking for a traditional spot with a warm and cozy ambiance. Apego exceeded our expectations with its charming stone walls, intimate setting, and the incredible fact that the chef is a talented woman—it was just perfect. We chose the tasting menu, and it was a delightful surprise for our taste buds. Every dish was carefully curated, both in terms of presentation and flavor. The combinations were unexpected yet harmonious, leaving us amazed. The tasting menu is absolutely worth it, as you get to try a bit of everything. Portions are well-balanced, ensuring you don’t leave hungry. It’s excellent value for money! The highlight of our meal was the veal short rib—it had an extraordinary taste, unlike anything we’ve ever had before. Even as people who don’t typically favor meat, we were blown away. This dish alone is worth the visit! The ambiance was wonderful, the service impeccable, and the staff incredibly kind and fluent in English. The Michelin star is truly well-deserved. If you’re in Porto and want an intimate dining experience with refined, exquisite food, Apego is a must. A lovely touch at the end is the little notebook they give you to write down your thoughts—a beautiful idea! Congratulations to the chef and the entire team! We will definitely be back.

Thank you for a fantastic dining experience! 6/5 stars from me. How did I find this place? It’s small, opened by a woman chef, tucked into a quiet residential street uptown, a neighborhood still awaiting or avoiding gentrification. Apego is Portuguese for attachment. And boy, did I get hooked last night! I had asked my culinary friends at Churchill’s wine bar for restaurant recommendations, so here goes my growing attachment story: The first plate was four 4 amuse gueules from the kitchen: a mushroom empanada, a French-inspired mini onion quiche, a minuscule courgette, and a fresh cucumber-carrot shot on the sweeter side. My favorite? The quiche. Starter # 1 turned out to be a panzanella improvisation - inspiring me to replace smoked bell peppers with really, really oven smoked eggplant puree. Delightful. Starter # 3 is a really tiny plate: mackerel, raspberries, crème fraiche, and a little herbal-leaf looking like a kid’s x-mas tree drawing. It’s called “target” and I’ve never tasted anything like it before. I’ve also never eaten a Christmas tree branch in my life. Plus I never knew I’d be eating - and loving it - Mackerel. Raspberries. And Crème fraiche. Together. My friendly wine waiter, Victor, has a tough time pleasing me though: I made it crystal clear that I didn’t want to go anywhere near a natural wine (a fashion that has hit Porto, as have opulently sized plates “for sharing”… ironically they describe them as tapas, except that you’re full with two. I think that’s tricking you into eating more rather than trying more). He made me try it anyway, and as always, I didn’t get it. I can’t savor the grape, it looks pale, and it tastes as most in various stages of fermentation. This one was on the sour side. I don’t get it, I really don’t. Leave alone the hype. But I digress. I’m loosing count, but next up is a Corvina, and it’s awesome. More than a filet it looks more like a steak, wrapped in a leak leaf roll - think a bigger size sushi - together with a green herb paste, it comes with a white wine sauce and, on a separate side plate, a mixed bean salad is served. Green long ones and very likable cocoa like ones with a lemony vinaigrette - the third vinaigrette I fell in love tonight (after the tomato vinaigrette and the raspberry vinaigrette, to keep track). What followed - I think this is a second main course- is displayed around a red wine reduction in the middle of the plate. So surrounding the red pond, I found a pink piece of pork shoulder, a Cajù (aka cashew nut) creme with blackberries, and a grilled miniature corn. Culinary creativity knows no limits…. And I love the disconstruction and re-construction of everything. On a separate plate was mashed potato role - think cannolo - sprinkled with spring onions. Normally potato mash is a favorite soul food but this time I passed. It had a very strong cheese mixed into it, competing over attention with the other pork companions. Dessert # 1 - the call them desapego / detachment Blackcornhoneycrumbs. Olive oil ice cream, a scoop. Dried fennel greens, edible (the waiter made sure I knew everything on the plate was edible), white and crunchy. Incredible combination of texture and flavor. All of which came under a tent of white merengues. Dessert # 2 Hazelnutmousse, apricot compote under a Belgium butter biscuit, topped by a desconstructed praline. I’m told I have to destroy this little pyramid with an ordinary spoon. I walk down Rua Santa Catarina with a big smile and a lot of flashy tasty memories to write down. Plus I don’t know if they should rename the place - I’d rather think of it as Saudade.

Great experience ! Hake Ravioli are delicious, veal short rib is out of this world, wine glass excellent as the service, location is ok but deserves 5* as very tasty cuisine. Don't miss the bread, it's makes you addict !! Absolutely reccomended.

Restaurant
Republica Dos Cachorros, also known as "The Dog — Cachorrinhos," is a casual dining spot near Jardim Marques de Oliveira in Porto. While it may not be the most outstanding restaurant, it's a great place to indulge in generous portions of meat, particularly their prego em prato and cachorrinhos (Portuguese hot dogs).
I was only in Porto for a day and a half, but this is one of the reasons I will keep on coming back to Portugal! The food was absolutely delicious and the people (I hope not to jinx this) are just wonderful. I never got the name of the bartender/ server but what a friendly and engaging server and delightful conversation. Honestly this wasn’t my first choice for cachorrinhos, but I’m so glad I came. Thank you for making what seemed a simple meal into a highlight of a short trip!
Helen M — Google review
We came here to try the “cachorrinhos”, they were quite good! Not spicy as mentioned in the menu, but quite tasty. The French fries were also good! The service was not the best, the place had only a few guests, but there was a lot of staff. Our coffee waited for 10min in the counter getting cold Food good, service needs to improve!
Antonieta L — Google review
Delicious experience overall - the cachorrinho was incredibly tasty, with just the right level of crispiness. Be warned: one is rarely enough, so consider ordering two! The restaurant itself is spacious, modern, and welcoming, with staff who are attentive without ever being intrusive. Prices are fair, making it an excellent spot for a casual yet satisfying meal. Highly recommend giving it a try.
Francisco S — Google review
The cachorrinho and fries are perfect! Not overly salty and great quality. The service is great as well and I like the bar seating which includes purse hooks. Price is good as well. You can get a couple of dogs, fries and beers for around 25€. Highly recommend!

Since the 1st time I tried cachorrinho I felt in love with that. I’m lactose intolerant, but with that meal I just can’t say no. They are so delicious. Forever grateful for this culinary invention, I wish you will open your restaurants worldwide and beat McDonald’s. The service excellent, everyone is friendly, prices are cheap in my opinion.
Darina T — Google review
The cachorrinho e pretty normal, nothing crazy. A bit too expensive honestly. But I have to give the 5 stars because the "Prego The Dog" is juuuust that good. Brie Cheese and Onion Jam with Port Wine ( plus the bread and steak obv ) and it is soooo goood. Tastes different from anything you have had before. Worth to try for sure!
Sérgio S — Google review
Okay, y’all, I extremely love everything about this place: the atmosphere, the people who work here, the fact that you can literally see how they’re making your food. Everything is so tasty and not even expensive I love that! 100% would recommend this place!

Great find, thank you Google reviews. Get out of the touristy areas and get to see some of the local Oporto areas. Great 'hot dog' joint with some Super Bock beers. Delicious. The Cachorrinho dog is their standard but the Preggo Dog was tastier with the caramelized onions.

Natas D'Ouro, located in Baixa do Porto, is a must-visit spot for indulging in Portuguese egg tarts with a twist. This project by Pastelaria Soares offers a unique take on the traditional recipe, featuring variations such as Port wine, chocolate, caipirinha, orange, and lemon flavors. The establishment's innovative approach to custard tarts has made it stand out among other pastry shops in Porto.
A nice place for a morning coffee and pastel de nata. Pastel has a very crunchy base, with us filling that is soft and hot. Pastel literally just came out of the oven when the place opened up at 8:30. Interior is sophisticated looking and very welcoming. 2 espressos and a nata was a very reasonable €3.20
Raymond L — Google review
I stopped by this cozy little coffee shop in the heart of Porto and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered a cappuccino and a traditional natas (pastel de nata) — it was fresh, creamy, and had that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and softness inside. The cappuccino was smooth and paired really well with the sweet. The place had a warm, local vibe, and the staff were friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the city center. Just missing that extra something to make it a full 5 stars, but overall a lovely experience!

Amazing and original types of pastel de natas, they also have affordable packs for nata + vine! Amazing place in Porto!!
Defne A — Google review
The Nata was the best I’ve had in Portugal! (My 6th one) You need to get them warm.
Cliff L — Google review
The flavors of Pastéis des natas they have is great and it helps that you can opt for a bottle of wine to go with it instead of your traditional coffee. If I recall correctly they also have a wine flavored nata that was great.

This is definitely one of the nicest places in the city to have a relaxing Pastel de Nata experience! So many choices regarding the Pastel de Nata taste! You can have it with Port Wine, Orange, the traditional way, etc… The person who works there is very kind and social, knows how to have a conversation. The place looks really nice, kinda fancy in a way! You can also see the lady doing her job! Baking the Pastel de Nata pastries and all that. A must try! Amazing experience, we always come back here whenever we visit Porto, the lady behind the counter even remembers me from last year, awesome! Coming back again as soon as I set foot in Porto! Thank you for the awesome experience ever since I first visited!

We discovered savory pasteis de nata or Portuguese egg tarts and got the 6-pack: codfish; beef; alheira (a type of Portuguese sausage), vegetable, sardine and chicken. My favs are the cod, vegetable and beef. This place also has a variety of unique sweet tarts that we may or may not try on another day. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors with the view of the river Douro to enjoy.
Sandra C — Google review
We tried all of their sweet pasteis de nata. Port wine was unique and tasty. It's definitely a favourite. We liked the orange one as well. The chocolate one has chocolate inside as well- not just on top. Traditional ones are easy to have a couple in one sitting. Very mice flaky crust. Recommend sharing each tart with someone for sampling!

Fast food restaurant
Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau in Gaia, Porto is a unique establishment that specializes exclusively in the famous Portuguese delicacy, Pastel de Bacalhau. It's not just a shop or a restaurant but rather an intriguing place with a captivating ambiance resembling a bookshop. The oversized cod croquettes filled with delicious cheese are described as true works of art and are priced at 5 each.
The traditional outside of this building does not prepare for its interior. This traditional food product is presented in the most spectacular way in this building. The walls are aligned with books. There is a balcony and gallery, and most noticeable is the pipe organ which sits in the middle abovesome of the serving area. We will for enough to see this organ being played and particularly well, I must say. The bacalhau being served looks delicious but with one of these and glass of wine being 16 €20 it seemed a little expensive. Even if you don’t find it’s worth having a look at this amazing interior.
G M — Google review
This is such an interesting place to visit. There’s great food, drinks, books and even an organ player. You can try the famous Pastel DeBacalhau. It was cheesy, savory and filled with fish. I enjoyed it. I don’t think I would eat it often but it was a fun experience just to try it out. The organ player happened to start playing while we were there and I enjoyed the music.
Andrew C — Google review
I tried the no-cheese pastel de bacalhau and it was okay, but too salty for my taste. The space though - it really beautiful, and the live organ music makes it a really great spot to visit. Plus - if you buy a glass of port with your pastel - the flute with special engravings is yours to take!
Gabor M — Google review
The cod pastry and port are always delicious. You can keep the glass as a souvenir. Nevertheless, it feels like a 16 Euros tourists trap. That said, it's a very nice place, some kind of a bookstore with a cool atmosphere.
OMPBL — Google review
In a beautifully decorated, antique-filled venue, we tried the cheesy codfish cakes accompanied by a basic white Port wine, while enjoying live classical music. Compared to prices in Porto, it was on the expensive side, but the quality was excellent. The wine was quite sweet, yet it paired surprisingly well with the salty sheep cheese. Definitely recommended to try.
Shakila M — Google review
Casa Portuguesa do Pastel de Bacalhau is an absolute must-visit! The pastel de bacalhau com queijo is simply divine—crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and the creamy cheese inside makes it unforgettable. The ambiance is just as impressive, with a beautiful setting that captures the charm of Portugal. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Truly a gem where delicious food meets amazing service and atmosphere!
Patrick J — Google review
It’s like a small Disney-Land for lovers of “croquetas”. They sell them in a big version with cheese or without. If you want, in a combo with Portwine. And as a small desert you can buy a dessert, that looks like two half’s of a sheep cookie, one filled with cheese and the other with marmelade. You join them and have a bite: very tasty 💖. Let’s be honest, a historical place with tourism adapted program. Entry is free, if you buy food, you can sit upstairs and have a nice break. There are small organ concerts, and in between you hear Disney like music. It’s not cheap, but if you like to see something unusual, it’s a nice place. We had a break, because outside it was hot.
J A — Google review
Nothing unreal, the food is pretty ordinary, the wine is like any other around Porto and in my opinion a bit overpriced, but, the venue is AMAZING! you basically pay for its beauty and the live piano concert. You can also keep the beautiful wine glass (it’s true, I asked the staff!). Overall I’ll give 4 stars because the music was nice, the place was beautiful but it lacked a bit of cleanliness with rubbish in the floor and food scramble over the seats in the second floor, but maybe they were a bit understaffed when I was there, not sure…

Restaurant
Restaurante Cantina 32 is a laid-back and popular spot among the trendy locals, offering two sittings to reflect the Mediterranean way of life. The restaurant features large communal tables as well as smaller spots for more intimate dining. The menu includes large terracotta sharing dishes such as roast octopus with sweet potatoes and modern twists on classic Portuguese plates like fresh pink tuna with pineapple and seafood and chorizo stew.
Excellent. Squid and portobello appetizer is excellent. The bread with banana butter is very good. Octopus is a must. We ate here 3 times. Everything we tried was great. Reasonable prices. Make a reservation as they fill up fast. They open at 6:30 and the line starts at 6:15. Reservations are at 7. The sangria is great and a lot of wine choices. Felix and John were very helpful. Make sure to save room for wonderful desserts. We liked the chocolate cake, cheesecake, and carrot cake. Cappuccino was very good. Bathrooms were very clean.

Dropped by for lunch. We were just walking around Porto soaking in the atmosphere and saw that this restaurant had a decent rating. There was a line to get in , but that was because they were just opening. We were not so hungry so ordered the Portugese stew of Squid and Shrimp. The quailty of the ingredients was fine. But the sauce was brought in a separate jug and poured over. This left the squid and shrimp tasting very bland .The menu said the dish was for two persons but we were still hungry. A little pricey for what we were served. We went down to the Mercado and had something to eat and drink there! We wanted to order dessert but decided to go somewhere else.

Excellent octopus! Very tasty. Nice presentation. Price quality for octopus also good. The othet things were a bit on the expensive side. Especially the tuna appetizer. And the salad (lettuce) which was literally a quarter lettuce with dome cheese but almost 4€. The alheir crockets on the other hand were very nice and tasty really like alhier sausage. The banana butter, olives and bread were part of the curvert (2.50 pp). They were of good quality but we were a bit dissapointed that we got the same amount of bread butter and olices with the 5 of us as other people that were with a party of 2. (The banana butter tasted really like banana and was tasty as well.) We couldnt order a big bottle of water to share (nor still nor sparkling) only small bottles. The ambience was very nice. All in all. Nice restaurant for octopus. A bit on the expensive side. Service could be a bit more generouz looking at the water and the curvert.

Every visit to Cantina 32 was an absolute delight. The food is delicious and carefully prepared, and the service is truly exceptional – attentive, kind, and professional. We returned three nights in a row because we felt so welcome, and by the second evening, the staff even greeted us by name, which was a wonderfully personal touch. A special mention goes to John, our waiter, who was always polite, attentive, and truly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined and welcoming dining experience in Porto.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Cantina 32, thanks in large part to the incredibly kind and helpful manager, Felix, who went out of his way to find us a table when my father expressed how much he wanted to dine there. The food exceeded all expectations—the iceberg lettuce salad with salmon was easily one of the most delicious salads we’ve ever had, with perfectly balanced flavors and generous portions. The squid stew was equally outstanding—fresh, rich, and full of depth. We finished with their signature cheesecake, which is an absolute must. The ambiance is second to none—an industrial chic setting that still manages to feel warm and calming. It was our best night in Porto, and we’ll definitely return on our next visit. Thank you, Felix and the entire Cantina 32 team!

The passionate staff are always ready to engage patrons in lively conversations about their extensive selection of brews, which includes 10 on tap as well as numerous bottled options. Additionally, the venue hosts events that contribute to its vibrant atmosphere.
Fantastic place to enjoy a few beers, they have a great national and international selection. If the weather is good, I recommend to go to the upstairs roof top where you can also enjoy the sunset. We also got lucky and came on a night when they had live music. They even had a pop-up with very nice food. Amazing vibes, will definitely be coming again!

Out of al the bars I visited in Porto, this was without doubt the best one! The person working there during my visit was absolutely brilliant, had lots of knowledge and was great to talk to. Out of all the pubs I've been to around the world, this got to be one of my best experiences yet! Great selection of beers and very cozy. Even had a beer garden on the top floor but didn't visit unfortunately. I promised to revisit before my departure but didn't manage which was really sad, I will surely come back next time I'm in Porto. If you happen to be in the city, I hardly recommend a visit here if you are into craft beers, great atmosphere and friendly staff!

I've visited catraio several times as it is located on my neighborhood and I was always met with people that wanted to make my visit the best experience possible either by suggesting the beer I should try or by having diverse food popups. Sometimes they also host meetups and it's always very fun to meet new people on their beer garden. They also have a inside room if you are feeling cold.

This is one of my favourite institutions in Porto! Their Sandos are next level, made using their in house smoked ham and funky local sheep/cow cheese. Cash only, with plenty of locals lining the bar. In house chilled red is banging and they serve vino verde at a great price! Decor is excellent, definitely recommend checking out if you're in the area.

Very nice mom and pop shop. You can tell from the pictures they been here for quite some time. It's very much a neighborhood place, right across the police station. Without speaking a word of English they really did their best to accommodate us. Too bad the warm dishes are only available in the afternoon. I went early to beat the lunch traffic. Ordered a Sande de Presunto com Queijo with a bowl of Vinho Verde tinto (yes, it came in a small bowl). Also had a beer and added a Sande de Morcella to pair with it. 😋 Definitely a recommend. It's very cheap and true quality.

This bakery and pastry shop has an excellent quality. I ordered a capuccino and a pain au chocolat, both delicious. Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because the capuccino was served in a glass (not aesthetically pleasing), instead of the cup, which is really important to preserve the right temperature and to maintain the proper balance of espresso, milk and foam. The cup size and shape are also important for showcasing the drink's layers and allowing the aroma to be appreciated. Thank you.

Absolutely exceptional. The pastry at Brites is nothing short of outstanding — possibly the best in all of Porto. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh, perfectly baked, and full of rich, authentic flavor. The attention to detail, the texture, the balance of sweetness — it’s clear that real craftsmanship goes into every item. Whether it’s a classic Portuguese pastry or something more unique, every bite feels special. This is not just a bakery, it’s a true gem. One of my favourite bakeries in Porto!! I tried a selection of their pastries and each one of them is so damn good (although for some they could be too heavy and sweet). The prices are super fair, I just wish they had space to sit down inside, but it’s only take away
Greta G — Google review
Great pastries. kouign amann was the best. cinnamon roll was something that i have been looking for. I have been having a hard time finding a cinnamon roll without crazy icings where i live. and they had the perfect cinnamon roll with great taste without extensive sugar.

Sol e Sombra Bifanas is a hidden gem known for its famous Bifanas sandwich, which many consider to be one of the best sandwiches they've ever had. The diner has a cozy atmosphere with a long bar and old-school tables, offering an authentic local experience. The pork meat is marinated in a flavorful local hot pepper chile sauce, giving the sandwich a touch of spice that can be customized to your liking.
Bifanas filled with generous, juicy, tender pork and hint of spice was amazing paired with their recommended rose wine. Was so good I took another one with cheese. They provide chilli oil on the table which was a good addition if you enjoy a little more spice. Service was warm and sincere. Atmosphere was authentic to Porto vibe. We arrived at 11 am, there was no queue. Would definitely miss this food joint!

If you go here, you HAVE TO get the há rojão no pão with sheep’s cheese. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life. The bifana was good too, but the former was the star of the show! The amount of flavor in that sandwich is incredible. Additionally, they pour a heavy glass of wine, the music is great, and the owner was very friendly and gave us great recommendations! Definitely worth a visit!
Breigha M — Google review
Delicious bifana. Soft bread, juicy and tender meat with a bit of spice. Snails were a delicious surprise. For adventurous eaters and more that enough to share.

Aside from the best Bifanas I have had in Portugal, the staff are super friendly. Will be back to try other things on their menu. Likely the 🐌

I am in awe of how kind and patient the guys behind the bar are. Such an excellent service to match the excellent food! We tried the bifana, the beef sandwich (prego) and morlas (chicken gizzards). Loved everything! Well done and keep it up!

Stopped in for a quick lunch, the bifanas were absolutely delicious! Hints of wine in the sauce and not too salty. The bread and meat were excellent quality! We were the only tourists, the restaurant was packed with locals. Shop workers spoke English well and were very friendly. They took the time to help explain and translate the menu for us. Will definitely be back! Would highly recommend to anyone in search of the best bifana!

HIGHLY recommend this place for a bifana. We had such an amazing experience. We love bifanas and have eaten them throughout Portugal but this one was is a place to not miss. With a 40+ year old recipe - it’s tried and true. And our experience with our server Ruui was exceptional. It hit all the markers for a great stop and experience.
Samantha H — Google review
A must stop if you are travelling to Porto. Our server, Ruui, was very kind and shared the history of the restaurant. Amazing bafana, in my opinion. Absolutely equal to the famous bafana in Lisbon. The 40 year old secret chilli sauce is excellent and spicy! 10/10 would recommend

Tia Tia is a unique restaurant in Porto that offers a creative twist on traditional Portuguese dishes. While it primarily features vegetarian options, it also incorporates fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients into its ever-changing menu. The restaurant is known for its focus on serving the best local Portuguese wines alongside delicious food. With a well-designed patio area filled with plants, Tia Tia provides a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy natural wines and creatively crafted dishes.
The simplest & freshest ingredients, used in the most creative ways. Every dish was elevated and interesting. Including the natural wines, the funky orange was sublime. + don’t sleep on dessert: Fermented Banana & Sao Jorge cheese from the Azores (paired with a 10yr port) is the most curious dessert you’ll ever have. Just go already!

Incredible dinner - surprised that this place wasn’t completely booked out. Dishes were extremely delicious, and so aesthetically pleasing as well. Everything was good, but the standout was carrot/pear with granola. Best dish we had in Porto! Good wines to go with the food. Very reasonably priced. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Make a reservation so you’re sure to eat at this amazing spot
Malte H — Google review
It was so sad to hear that negotiations with the landlord had broken down and this amazing restaurant is going have to relocate… So our advice, get in there quick. It’s a two person show so you need to book in advance so they can prepare but the food is veggie driven and spectacular with some fish assistance. And for the small portions chat and negative point scoring, people need to remember that the small plates are to be shared. Not scoffed by oneself. The whole point of this style of eating is to throw as many delicious meals on the table and enjoy the flavour bombs that come from the kitchen. And they do. And if you are still hungry, you can get a plate of punchy Portuguese cheese. Or another plate of the sea bass, because that was banging. Wines are on the natural tilt, which is our kind of tilt. I am sure they can cater for more conventional wine drinkers too, but if you like your wines funky, these guys can sort you out. @tia tia please let us know where your next stop is. We will ensure to pass by.

Tia Tia was one of, if not our best, meals in Porto. Each dish was carefully composed with fresh seasonal ingredients. The impeccable service and ambiance also heightened the experience. We looked forward to every dish, from its meticulous description by the maitre-d, the immaculate presentation and the blast of creative flavor associations. One of the highlights of our trip, Thank you!

Best veggie food in Porto - inventive cuisine but locally conscious. The bread was hands down best I have had in Portugal. Lovely service and we loved the vinyl!!
Amy F — Google review
The atmosphere felt a bit strange at first with some eery music at times, sometimes not. We felt like we were in someone’s living room (no one wearing a uniform or at least an apron maybe) which is actually consistent with the experience we got, but not the price we paid. They only have one person in the kitchen, which doesn’t make any sense as we were around 30 pax during that service, and you could see most of the tables without food half of the time. We took all the dishes to share, except the fish of the day and the dessert, knowing they recommend 4 dishes for 2 persons, so that’s what we had (and sourdough bread). I do appreciate the fact they use local products, that the plating was nice, and taste wise, it was decent, but nothing amazing too. The problem was that each dish is like an appetizer or a small starter (with a twist), and also that the pricing is neither matching the portion or the products. What adds to the frustration is that you’re waiting 20min between each tiny dish that you will finish in 2min, and that doesn’t fill you up, and that you won’t even remember at the end of the meal. I rarely review negatively but have to say it was one of our worst experience in a restaurant. We spent 2h30, almost 100e (we also had one bottle of wine, one extra glass and sparkling water) and unfortunately our last night in Porto there. Many reviews are describing the exact same experience so maybe they don’t want to address these constructive feedbacks, and think they know better. Being from hospitality, I know how harsh it is. Do things right, or don’t do it.

What an amazing experience. You can see/smell/taste/feel/hear the owners’ passion for Portuguese cuisine. With each bite and sip, you’ll come to know their culinary circle. This is a must-visit for natural wine lovers— all wine is sourced from their friends’ vineyards. For in-season, mouthwatering dishes and Michelin Star service, you cannot miss Tia Tia. Obrigada. Until next time ❤️
Emily J — Google review
We came here for dinner and loved the location. It’s really well set up with a cool patio/outside area full of plants and good vibes. There were some gluten- and dairyfree options (small menu though). The kitchen looked super clean and nice and the food is minimalistic and creative. Our favorite was the Japanese egg yolk dish. Great selection of natural wines. Only downside was that we had to wait a tiny bit too long in between dishes. Was maybe just one of these days. Still a great recommendation and has all the potential to be super busy soon!
