Seafood restaurant
O Gaveto is a beloved seafood restaurant located in Porto, known for its impeccable preparation of fish and seafood dishes. The restaurant offers a beautiful seafront setting and is highly recommended for its ameijoas a Bulhao Pato, monkfish rice, and the flavorful seafood acorda. With a superb wine list, it's also a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. O Gaveto stands out as one of the most intriguing traditional restaurants in Porto.
**O Gaveto** This is not just a restaurant; it's a philosophy. The owner personally greets guests, the staff is both professional and friendly, with an immense knowledge of wines, and the dishes are made from fresh, regional ingredients... Attention to every detail ensures that, upon entering, you feel taken care of, with everyone knowing how to cater to your utmost satisfaction. I highly recommend it to those for whom a restaurant is synonymous with a passion passed down through generations and an exceptional commitment to quality service and guest satisfaction.
Malgorzata B — Google review
The restaurant is very special and clean. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was good, but nothing special.
Kinga G — Google review
This wonderful restaurant, recommended by a good friend of ours, was well worth the 30 minute Uber ride from Vilanova de Gaia. The food quality was extraordinary, the fish and shrimp were swim-fresh and cooked to perfection. We had boiled bouquet shrimp (camarão da costa) and clams as starters, followed by a deliciously grilled wild seabass. The waiter insisted on serving us the home-made almond tart as a desert, accompanied by a 10-year old Madeira (verdelho). We picked a delicious sparkling wine from the Bairrada region to accompany the entire meal: “Agua Viva”. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of food. A memorable dinner for sure. Will be back! Highly recommended!
Bert L — Google review
Good quality food and fair value for money, but the service was cold and unfriendly. We ordered the Arroz Marisco for two, which came in a large pot and was served by the waiter. Unfortunately, he was inattentive, and I ended up pouring the water and wine myself. The cuisine was excellent, but the service needs improvement, you have the feeling you aren’t welcomed. Prices are on the higher side.
Magda — Google review
It is a very good restaurant with a seafood specialization. There is a great choice of live lobsters and crab as well as fresh fish, seafood and shrimps. The wine list is good and sufficient. The dishes are rather simple but tasty. The service is good and rapid.

The most amazing lobster you will ever have! Try to go here every tim I'm in Porto. So many great fresh seafood options.
Kristinn P — Google review
Beautiful restaurant in Matosinhos. Service is really old school (older waiters, limited English but they’re doing their best). We wanted to know how many oysters are in 1kg and he actually brought us the oysters on a platter to see how many are there. I think it’s expensive by local standards but we enjoyed it. Got some fresh oysters (1kg), 2 big prawns, one portion of clams and cod plus a bottle of house white wine. Total damage: 120Eur
The D — Google review
The most delicious prawns ever. We had some really delicious and fresh seafood. Every plate had its own unique flavour and the restaurant was quiet and very relaxing. A little more expensive than all the other places we went in Porto but it's worth it if you are a seafood lover.

Terreiro is a restaurant located in Porto, offering a wide variety of fish and seafood dishes. Situated overlooking the Ribeira area and the Douro River, it provides a picturesque setting for diners. The menu features starters like petinga ribs and octopus salad, while main courses include fried dory with roe acorda, lobster mayonnaise, and sea bass. The elegant setting with stone walls and wooden accents adds to the warm atmosphere of Terreiro.
Get there early! Went there for dinner and it was everything I hoped for dinner in Porto! Great prices, great portions and amazing flavors! Go there and ask for Emmanuel, he gave us the best treatment!

Great location, first and foremost. Staff were welcoming but waiter then seemed surprised - even a little disappointed - that we both went for the small francesinha rather than the large. However, it was delicious in a tremendous, slightly spicy, sauce. Wife had a large glass of green wine while I just had a delightful 0.4l of very cold beer- the ubiquitous super-bock. You couldn't beat the view or the light bite.
N S — Google review
Drooling seafood presented on the table. Came here for lunch then decided to return for dinner to try other great dishes prepared by the chef. Food truely succulent which suit our taste bud. Paired with their house white and rose wine 🍷. Thanks so much for your super friendly services and meal 🍽️

Absolutely delicious. Reservations recommended, but we were so lucky to find a spot by the window without one! Friendly personnel and the most delicious octopus stew I have had in my life.
Birgül A — Google review
Absolutely fantastic food in Porto! The stuff is amazing, friendly and knows the menu really well. The location is nice, not that crowded as restaurants next to the river. Food is great, prawns were just incredibly tasty, and the dessert 11/12 (or something like that) was super delicious! Highly recommend! Hope to come back one day!

After arriving late from Lisbon to Porto, I found this restaurant and decided to visit after reading reviews on Google. I visited with my child and ordered grilled octopus, seafood rice, grilled shrimp, and sangria. Overall, it was a bit salty for our family's taste, perhaps because it was meant for seafood. However, it wasn't bad when paired with the accompanying garnish. The sangria was 15 euros for 500ml. It felt quite expensive, but I ordered it just to try it. Is this typical Portuguese sangria? (See photo) It was unbelievable... It was expensive, but it was worth experiencing at least once. While taste buds vary, everyone in my family agreed it was salty. Again, it's best enjoyed with garnish. Not recommended for those sensitive to salt. I also tried the seafood rice for the first time, and while it wasn't quite what I'd seen before, it was a decent experience. (If I were to visit again, I wouldn't order it.) Also, we had a table on the first floor and on the terrace. Since there were no seats on the upper level, we gave up on the view and went to the second floor. While we didn't experience any special service, we had a hard time paying. They were demanding a tip. We didn't add any, but... if we had experienced exceptional service and a unique taste, it wouldn't have been a waste. It's important to serve something from the heart, but... It was frustrating when we had to pay. They persistently asked for a tip for two or three minutes, but we never added one. We won't be back again when we visit Porto. I hope my review was helpful.

We wanted to order the barnacles but were told that its not in season. The young gentleman next to us kindly explained to us that right now the weather is dangerous for the percebeiros (professionals whose job are to harvest percebes or barnacles on the rocks). We got to chat a bit about the seafood culture in Portugal. We ordered stuffed edible crab and grilled tiger prawn. So fresh and delicious. Just before we were about to get the check, we were told that the young man actually was one of the bosses and he sent us a sweet desert! Thanks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Seafood Experience! I had an amazing dining experience at Perreiro. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked — you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The grilled shrimp was tender and flavorful, and the lobster was absolutely divine.

O Paparico is a highly acclaimed restaurant in Porto, known for its blend of traditional Portuguese ambiance and English bar-style decor. The friendly and accommodating service caters to various dietary needs, while the sommelier ensures a delightful experience for wine enthusiasts. The menu features elegantly presented dishes that stay true to authentic Portuguese flavors with some modern twists. While it may be on the pricier side, the 7 or 10-course meals offer an exquisite culinary journey.
Wow! What a magical, wonderful dining experience. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was a true experience! The restaurant’s atmosphere is gorgeous and so special. I love how the restaurant blends old and new/ traditional and contemporary. The staff and service could not be more perfect - everyone is so welcoming, kind, and excited to share the restaurant’s dishes with you. It’s rare when you can sense that staff have a genuine enthusiasm for the food being served. Every course/dish came with a story. I also loved how various members of the kitchen, including the chef, came out to speak with you - such a unique touch! And the food was absolutely wonderful! Get this restaurant its Michelin star ASAP! I particularly loved the first three “surprises” to come out of the kitchen and the rabbit. The bread service was also exceptional. Every dish was a work of art. I’ll be thinking about this meal and the experience I had at O Paparico for some time to come! These type of experiences are hard to come by!
Lis M — Google review
The best dining experience I’ve ever had, by far. Each dish is presented with so much forethought, explaining each ingredient and the story behind why it’s been included in their menu and its original Portuguese origins. All the staff were so friendly and had a smile at every interaction. We got the shared menu for two, which included 6 courses and 3 desserts. 2 of the courses and a dessert were added as surprises too. Each dish was small but it was plenty of food because of the variety. Be aware that because of the nature of the presentation, the meal takes a long time (we were there over 3 hours). We enjoyed the taste of all the dishes, even the ones with unconventional ingredients (to an American). Highly recommend during a visit to Porto.
Doug A — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. It’s a high end hidden gem in Porto… but what makes this place so unique is the unassuming exterior & the warm, friendly & homelike interior. It’s not your average fancy restaurant. You are greeted so kindly once you go in & from there you can be sure that you’re treated with the utmost sympathy from the extremely attentive staff. We forgot to let them know in advance that I’m vegan, which at first was a problem… but that problem was quickly rectified and I had 8 mouth watering plant based courses. The food was truly something special… and the wait staff carefully explained the themes & flavour profiles of what we ate. The first bottle of red wine was not to my taste and without hesitation or any issue, one of the wait staff promptly brought me a different, more full bodied wine that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back here. Also the bread was really yummy hehe,
Annie — Google review
We had a tasting menu. Our complements to the staff. From the start to the end, the staff was really attentive, sometimes too much. We liked the atmosphere, the attention to details. But the food was really an average. It looks better than it taste. The dishes were boring, lacking sophistication, balance and creativity. The homemade bread, specially baked for us, was really poor: hard and tasteless. The best were intermezzo and partridge. Everything else were not memorable. Not surprisingly, they don't have a Michelin star. Sure, they’re trying to achieve it, but with the food, more effort is needed. Good luck!
Laura C — Google review
My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at O Paparico and it was a lovely experience. The food was not only delicious, but also very creative. The service was outstanding - they really made our dinner feel like a celebration. I would highly recommend making a reservation if you are in Porto!
Mary M — Google review
An absolutely fantastic meal! All of the staff and service were perfect, both precise and discreet as well as really friendly, no detail was too small. From start to finish the food was gorgeous, hard to pick a favourite but the partridge and the monkfish were both particularly amazing! We chose the clasique wine pairing, which was beautiful with the food served. Absolutely recommend this restaurant for a brilliant experience.
Samantha A — Google review
I've traveled a lot of places and tried a lot of high end, fine dining restaurants but this one beats them all. The attention to detail, the flavor, the presentation and combination are amazing. The staff care for your every need, are extremely knowledgeable and have a fun time while making your experience unforgettable. They only book one reservation per table in the restaurant for the entire night so you can enjoy your experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Eric S — Google review
The little restaurant is out of the box. Traditional Portuguese culture is followed to a minute details. The staffs are extremely well behaved. We ordered Ala Carte. As we just want to try Portuguese food, we ordered one starter and one mains. But the restaurant gave us 5 surprise chef specials and each of them were super awesome. I would recommend everyone to visit this restaurant at least once. It’s a top notch experience

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Ribeira neighborhood, Taberna dos Mercadores is a cozy and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its small size, the place is always bustling, so it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. The attentive staff adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features delectable dishes such as octopus specialties and grilled sea bass, complemented by an extensive selection of high-quality wines.
We had to wait for about 30-40 minutes before we got a table. The staff came out during this time and told us they can’t guarantee a place for us and that larger groups might have to sit separately. If you can reserve a table as otherwise you might not be able to taste their delicious food. We had the octopus with its rice as well as the steak with the sausage rice. We shared a mixed salad for a starter. The food arrived in time and was delicious. It was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and polite. It’s worth a visit and with just 16 seats one of the smaller restaurants we have been. Highly recommend but be prepared either to wait or reserve a spot.
Marc S — Google review
This is a very touristy place. The space is very small and at a time only 16 people can be seated. We arrived 45 minutes before opening and were 6th in line. We tried the oven-baked octopus rice and the salt-crusted seabass. The seabass was excellent, 10/10. The oven-baked octopus rice was 7/10. The people working there are very nice. The lady who took our order told us our initial order would be too much food, which was such a kind gesture. Overall, if you have an hour to spare, I would say try this restaurant.
Samiul A — Google review
By far the best restaurant in Porto. There will be a wait so be prepared but it’s well worth it. My tip is be there early. Restaurant seats 14 people. Reminds me of the quaint restaurants in the Boston North End. The food was stunningly and delicious. I ordered the garlic shrimp, Seafood Açorda and Apple Meringue pie. All amazing and all suggested by the owner who is amazingly kind and attentive. I was a single traveler and made to feel right at home and welcomed.
Donald N — Google review
This was my favourite meal in Portugal, the food was so good! I liked the octopus rice and sea bream best, followed by the seafood rice. They have very limited seating inside (~16 seats) so there was a long wait. They opened at 12:30 and our group arrived at 12:05, and we barely missed entering in the first wave. We ended up waiting over 1.5 hours. They don’t guarantee group seating for groups larger than 2 so our group of 4 ended up getting split into 2 groups. They accept credit card.
Ellen H — Google review
We came for the second time and the most impressive dishes is the beef steak with rice! Of course, other must order dishes sea bass (with fire), clams, octopus and the potato soup. An average of 1-1.5 hours waiting time, and worth for the queue if you look for authentic and high quality of food.
V C — Google review
I arrived around 1:30pm ish and I waited about 30 mins to be seated. I was by myself and the staff/owner was so accommodating and friendly. I got the octopus dish with rice and the portion was way too generous. Apple pie was really good, nostalgic and had the right balance! Worth the wait 😊
Jisu K — Google review
The signature salt-grilled fish was really fresh, and the flame grilling was quite a show. The garlic clams were just average. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table—there are only eight tables with sixteen seats. The place doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere, but the food came out pretty quickly.
Patricia T — Google review
I would say it's a must-try if you come to Porto. The taste of octopus rice is unforgettable. The crunchy flavored rice is lovely and the octopus is soft and slightly firm with a pleasant chewiness. The size is suitable for 2 people. My friend and I had waited for an hour, and it's

Restaurant
Restaurante O Valentim is a traditional Portuguese gem nestled along the coastline in Matosinhos. Renowned for its commitment to serving fresh, locally sourced seafood, this restaurant offers an extensive and exquisite menu. From clams a Bulhao Pato to grilled fish and other seafood delicacies, O Valentim provides a culinary adventure that captures the essence of coastal dining.
Exceptionally fresh and full of ocean flavour – the seafood at Matiz dos Leões in Porto is a true delight. From the tender grilled squid served with a light herb sauce to the delicate marinated fish, every bite tasted authentically Atlantic. A perfect spot for anyone who appreciates real freshness and the essence of the sea.
Dr D — Google review
This review is for the restaurant. It was recommended while visiting Porto. While the flavor of the fresh fish, potatoes and cabbage dish were excellent. And the service “fine” and proper, I did not really feel relaxed, welcomed, maybe just tolerated. I am aware of how sadly inundated all of Portugal is right now, and a way of life disappearing, and an obvious disprepancy in income between “wealthy” travellers or tourists and the locals. I am so sad but understand how this is resulting in detached, resentful service. I would not recommend the trade off of very good food, which you could find elsewhere, for the cold treatment.
Charlotte U — Google review
This restaurant used to be one of my favourites, but unfortunately the quality and service have gotten noticeably worse. We had an octopus salad that was completely doused in vinegar. One time the lime pie tasted a week old, the texture was like toothpaste— completely inedible.
Nina Z — Google review
Came here on recommendation of my duoro valley hotel host (quinta casa amarela) Mr Gil. I had the cabbage soup, grilled big prawn and half a turbot which came with potatoes and cabbage. Everything was really fresh and delicious, and great value for the quality! The bill came up to €67. The service was just right 👍 I came at 7pm and there were lots of tables available.
HKI — Google review
This was recommended by our Airbnb host. And am glad we tried it. The food is cooked to a high standard. Some items can be expe nsive on the menu but it's easy enough to avoid them. The squid was excellent and I was advised the steak as well. I highly recommend. For a party of 6 including 2 children the bill was 140 euros. I would of paid more because I was happy with it.

Exelent sea food! For any recommendation, We eat sea bas on grill, octopus on grill, sardines and shrimps with rice! And house wine, witch was perfect as well.

Lovely spot—fresh, tender seafood (we loved the clams and grilled sardines). Delicious soup and very good bread. Enjoyed getting out of the heart of Porto and exploring the coastline. Flan was very delicious too :)

Restaurant
Ostras & Coisas, a renowned seafood restaurant in Porto, is known for its diverse menu of shellfish and fish dishes. Despite some past disappointments with certain items, the restaurant remains an essential reference for seafood dining in the area. The name 'Ostras & Coisas' translates to 'oysters and things,' hinting at the house favorites. Oysters are a highlight, available in various preparations alongside a wide selection of shellfish such as crabs, barnacles, and shrimp.
We were recommended from our hotel to this place. At the beginning, I saw that their rate is 4.3, but after eating the whole meal, I think they deserve the 5 points. Oysters were good, civiche tasty, the two fishes that we took were very well done on the grill, and the best part was the desert. Have a look at the pictures.

If you want to step into the magical world of fish and seafood all in one place, this restaurant is waiting for you. Very friendly staff do all their best to give you best advices and explain everything in details. Special starter with huge glass jug of icy water was waiting for us on the table, this was surprise for us. We ate 4 different dishes and all of them were super tasty. Have no words.
Shalva G — Google review
This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint! I was craving a paella type dish, and the seafood rice was what I was told to order. It's delicious and a big portion too. Do yourself a favor and order the oysters, also very fresh with a good brine flavor. The staff is very polite and professional also, I'd definitely come back.

We first ordered fish. Waiter brought the raw uncooked fish to our table show us. Then we got told the fish had been sold to another table, which was unfathomable. We had to pick another one. Eventually the fish took 1.5 hrs. Food itself tasted good. While eating, there were a few flying insects around. Not totally abnormal for seafood, but this is an expansive restaurant.

I enjoy the seafood there especially the stuffed crab! Perfect dip for roasted bread! The seafood rice is also very tasty with a lobster soup flavour and there’s really so much seafood inside, clams, shrimp, mussel, you name it!

All the food are nice and great service, but a bit pricy. Online booking is not real, I could only book a table for 4, but I am a party of 6, so I tried to book another table for 2 but it said it is full whole day. So we called the restaurant and they could change the reservation for us.

Escama, which means fish scales, is a seafood-focused restaurant known for its dedication to serving good food. The interior design is comfortable and stylish, with friendly and helpful staff. The menu offers a variety of seafood dishes, including the recommended seafood pasta and chargrilled seabass. While the service was efficient, some felt it lacked warmth. Overall, Escama provides an excellent dining experience with delicious seafood options in a modern upscale setting.
We loved our dinner! Everything we ordered was extremely good, beautiful interior and amazing service. Definitely coming back.
Polina B — Google review
A wonderful dining experience overall, but there are plenty of better options in Porto that would provide tastier food with bigger portions for the same price or cheaper (especially when it comes to octopus and shrimp dishes). It seemed to us that the prices were higher solely on the appearance of the dishes alone - the taste and quality of ignredients were nothing spectacular. The softshell crab hotdog was interesting though, not something you'll typically find elsewhere. Reservations are recommended.

We had a dinner here to celebrate my birthday and I love the experience. The food we ordered were all delicious. The service was great. The place was cute - but it felt a little too warm (I wish they have better AC.

A great experience! We went to this seafood restaurant in Porto (nearby Sao Bento train station) because we love seafood and wanted to try a new place. The atmosphere is very welcoming and soft, everything tends to pamper you, from the lights to the background music. We were asked to sit in a corner close to the window, perfect for a romantic dinner. We had 3 starters: olive patè, olive oil and butter followed by fresh oysters and at the end a chevice with coconut. All was very refreshing and with great simple flavors. We took one main dish: tuna and sweet potatoes and it was delicious. We ended up with almond tart and fig ice cream. Recommended
Emanuele M — Google review
I used to love this place — not anymore. The service is far below the price point, and the menu is shockingly limited, especially if you’re dining solo. The breaking point? The server tried to pour a different wine over what was left of my white, and when I asked for a new glass, he said, “No you don’t, just drink what’s left.” 😳 The tuna tartare on brioche was mostly brioche, and while the oysters were good, that’s thanks to the product, not the kitchen. I left after just two appetizers — the whole experience was sad. Escama used to be on our list of favorites in Porto. After today, definitely not anymore.

Very cosy restaurant, good atmosphere but food wasn’t super impressive. Not really worth it when there’s so many other sea food restaurants around.

We had a lovely meal at Escama in Porto. We chose the sea menu, and every course was lovely and perfectly timed.

Porto sets a very high bar when it comes to seafood; but the Escama jumped over it by a long way. The tasting menu, which is all surprises with the wine pairing was so well thought out and tasty. It is expensive at around Euro 90 a head but worth it.

Salta O Muro is a hidden gem among the fish and seafood restaurants in Matosinhos. The ambiance is unassuming, with old plastic chairs and a handwritten menu, but the real treat is choosing your fresh fish from the counter to be expertly grilled right outside. Specialties include fried European pilchards, grilled largehead tail with green sauce, and anglerfish stew.
This is a family restaurant serving a variety of fresh grilled fish. The potatoes were well seasoned, the vegetables well prepared and flavourful. The grilled fish options for 1 or 2 people were great. Highly recommend for a casual, family style experience. It is a quick Uber ride from downtown.

Salta o Muro is a hidden gem in Matosinhos that captures the essence of Portuguese coastal dining. This family-run restaurant offers an authentic experience, serving fresh seafood in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is a celebration of the sea, featuring daily catches prepared with simplicity and care. From grilled sardines to octopus rice, each dish showcases the natural flavors of the ingredients. The accompanying sides, like the well-seasoned potatoes and fresh vegetables, complement the main courses perfectly. What sets Salta o Muro apart is its commitment to quality and tradition. The staff, including Sr. Moreira and Jorge, provide exceptional service, making guests feel like part of the family. Their knowledge and passion for the cuisine enhance the dining experience. While the prices reflect the quality of the seafood, the value is undeniable. The generous portions and exquisite flavors make every euro well spent. It’s advisable to visit more than once to explore the diverse offerings on the menu. In summary, Salta o Muro is a must-visit for anyone seeking genuine Portuguese seafood in a cozy setting. The combination of fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and heartfelt hospitality ensures a memorable meal every time.

I walked around the entire block checking out all the restaurants and eventually landed here because it was recommended to me. At first it did not appear to be interesting because their grill is not in front of the street like the other places. However, it’s been the best meal out of my 8 days in Portugal. I wish I could have eaten here everyday. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious and juicy but very simply prepared. I also appreciated that it was a no frills type of joint unlike the other restaurants that invested in fancy dining. In that sense, I found this restaurant to be very charming. Finally, our meal was very affordable adding up to about 30ish euros. Our server was very kind which I appreciated a lot.
Janice C — Google review
This restaurant was a little difficult to navigate as the waiters spoke limited English but it was more than made up for in hospitality and willingness to help. The food though was insane, the grilled sea bass was nothing short of perfection. Seasoned just right, immaculate crisp with super soft meat inside. The side of green turnip rice was something new and unexpected. The peppers were also great - especially the smaller ones - nice char, well salted. The bread here felt unique to me compared to all the other bread we tried in Portugal, they gave two kinds: one with salted meat embedded in it and another that was insanely dense, slightly sweet and just different. I’ve never had bread like that one. We also got the small fried sardines which were super soft and totally worth it as an appetizer. The chef came out and checked on us and although we don’t speak any Portuguese and she didn’t speak any English it was clear that she was so happy to have us and expressed her gratitude over how we cleaned our plates (nothing was left)
Degonto M — Google review
We were given a recommendation from Pão da Terra Cafe and so happy we asked! This little place served us grilled peppers, fresh sea bass, cooked cabbage and to die for potatoes! Paired with a vinho Verde. The servers were friendly and very professional. I don't mean this in a bad way but this place is not fancy, but don't let that fool you, it was one of the best meals we had!

Our favourite meal we had during our Porto trip. Felt like an authentic experience as everyone around us was local. Simple fare but executed perfectly. Our waiter spoke some English and was able to recommend his favourites to us.

Tucked into an otherwise touristy strip on the beach is this familial restaurant run by a small staff and a matriarch in the kitchen - at least that’s what I picked up when I was there. No matter, the food was exquisite - simple, singing, fish dishes with unadulterated vegetable sides dressed in olive oil. The service was beautiful - even if little was shared in terms of language. To put it simply, it was a whole vibe.

Meia-Nau Porto is a renowned restaurant located in the heart of Porto, offering an exquisite selection of fish and seafood dishes. With its charming nautical decor and efficient service, it has quickly become a favorite dining spot for locals and visitors alike. The menu features delectable options such as fried fish with fish egg and bread puree, as well as sumptuous seafood rice abundant with shrimp and mussels.
This restaurant is very popular among Chinese social media users, so you’ll often see Chinese and Taiwanese guests here. Their dining style is a bit different – sharing main dishes instead of the starter–main–dessert order, and usually not tipping. But the staff remain very friendly. I had clams and a one person seafood rice, both tasty and generous. It’s great that solo travellers can request single portions, and the wine is reasonably priced at around €4 a glass. Even the restroom was impressively clean.

We loved this place so much that we unusually ate here three nights during a five-night stay in Porto. The food quality was exceptional. Compared to UK prices the value was amazing. The choice of menu is varied and the choice of totally fresh fish was excellent. Most evenings we could choose from 6 or 7 different fish. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly yet courteous and highly efficient. The wines are good quality and great value . This should be on everyone’s radar if you like seafood. Absolutely brilliant!

We first tried to go to sister restaurant Mare by Meia-Nau, but there was a big line and it doesn't take reservations. So we reserved at Meia-Nau (reservations required). The menu is extensive and the decor is nice. The food was good but not exceptional for the price. We had the grilled sardines, the fish soup and the seafood rice. The soup was good but small, the seafood in the rice was overcooked and the sardines weren't as good as others we had in Porto. Service was average. The highlight was the fondant cake for dessert, which takes 20 mins to prepare. The cake was decadent with a rich caramel flavor and served hot right from the oven. Overall, I believe there is better seafood in Porto.
J L — Google review
The restaurant has a good design. The food presentation is also good, although the taste itself was just okay for me. The seafood rice was warm and comfortable especially during the cold, but I felt that I was looking for more flavor (but maybe that’s because I’m Asian). Make sure to reserve as it was very full. Service was friendly, although when we arrived for our reservation, our table wasn’t ready yet.

Food was good, reasonable price, and people there are friendly, welcoming and attentive. They do not pushed for more, and instead told us to stop when it might be too much for us to eat, everything was great! Would definitely revisit when returning to Porto :) book before hand or visit during lunch, as they are always full every evening!!

This is a lovely spot that serves delicious seafood rice, cooked perfectly with rich flavors and generous portions of fresh seafood. The mussels are especially tasty—plump, juicy, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax over a leisurely meal. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for a satisfying local dish, this place is definitely worth visiting.

We can highly recommend the clams and the sea bass — the charcoal-grilled flavor was excellent. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly, and the food offered great quality for a fair price. Possibly the best meal we had in Porto.

Absolutely amazing. We went there on our first night at Porto and it was so delicious we went there again on our last night. We had seafood at other places too but Meia-Nau is the tastiest and freshest and had most seafood available. Staff were very discreet, attentive and helpful. Long list of wine. Octopus always available. Only issue I had was the few annoying fruit flies so I knocked off a star for atmosphere. But other than that we love it.

Euskalduna Studio is a restaurant located in downtown Porto, offering a contemporary dining experience with a focus on haute cuisine. The chef and his team provide a friendly and welcoming environment where guests can embark on a gastronomic journey through a tasting menu consisting of 10 moments and surprises, featuring national and seasonal products sourced from small producers across the country.
Let me start by saying I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It’s like watching an orchestra play in symphony. This restaurant has no servers. The chefs serve you the food, prepared in front of your eyes. The experience of watching the chefs prepare each experience was something I had never witnessed before. The flavors were also stunning. Very seafood heavy, which I didn’t have a problem with, since I do enjoy seafood. Service was amazing and all of the employees were a pleasure to interact with.

Absolutely outstanding in all criteria. Well balanced dishes, beautifully described and presented. Unique flavour combos, creativity and passion on display. Not pretentious at all, friendly and warm team. We took the local wine pairing which was a great learning experience made even better by the charm and knowledge of the brilliant and engaging sommelier. A must-visit. Out of 100's of superb restaurant experiences all over the world, this ranks very very near the top.

Amazing! This place should be two Michelin stars. Incredible service and astounding flavors in the dishes. There was only one dish that was a skip for me. Every other dish was great, and five to six were world class. They also gave an additional 3 dishes on top of the 10 dish menu for 160€. If you are looking for a memorable Michelin star restaurant in Portugal that is good value for the price, go here.

Every single thing about this restaurant is amazing. The attentiveness of the staff, the mastery and artistry of the chefs, and the overall ambience were all top-notch. I made a late reservation so I hade to go on the waiting list, but was lucky enough to have the restaurant reach out with an open seat. I’m very happy they did because it was a very memorable experience. If you can make a reservation do so. And if not, take a chance and go on the guest list. If I could give a 100 stars I would! I had my 40th birthday dinner here with my best mates in August when we were visiting Portugal. I’d read the reviews and was excited to try this place out. Boy of boy was I wowed. Firstly the restaurant atmosphere is so welcoming and warm. The staff are BEYOND amazing - I think we met every member of the restaurant as they served us dishes and just explained everything so phenomenally. The sommelier was incredible at recommending wines for us. And Chef Vasco coming to our table, serving us, chatting to us, giving us great recommendations and even clearing our plates was something I’ve never experienced in Michelin star restaurant. Every dish was unified, unique and so memorable- I was blown away and I’m so glad to have had this experience. Do not hesitate to book - you will not be disappointed. Thank you Chef Vasco & team for your love, care and thoughtfulness in curating such a wonderful experience - one of the best meals I’ve had. Pls let us know when you open your restaurant in Sydney!!!

We have been to a couple of Michelin rated restaurants in different countries and wanted to try the experience in Oporto as we heard great things about its cuisine. After some research, we decided to give Euskalduna a try and it really didn’t disappoint. Let me start with the team and the atmosphere, in previous Michelin rated restaurants the vibe sometimes felt somehow pretentious and to rigid, while at Euskalduna it was the opposite, without loosing the attention to detail, the decoration, cutlery and the human touch really makes you feel that you are at a friends apartment who is cooking for you. Secondly, been so close to the chefs and been able to see everything they do felt like we were watching a calm and relax “the bear” episode. Finally, the food is amazing but I will let the photos speak for themselves and for you to give it a try because it’s definitely worth it. Ps. We also tried the bakery (Ogi) that makes their sourdough bread and it’s also definitely a must if you are around. Thank you to all the chefs for an amazing experience.

Gruta is a charming and smaller restaurant in Porto that offers incredible food. Visitors have raved about the mushroom ravioli and knifefish dishes, as well as the bisque with lemongrass flavor. The restaurant is known for its exceptional service, ambiance, and perfectly paced meals. It's located in the central shopping area of Porto, making it a convenient spot after exploring the city.
My daughter had researched this restaurant as a treat before starting the Camino Portuguese. Everything was flawless, from the location, to the friendly, helpful staff and, of course, the delicious food. The plates were perfectly executed and the food was amazing. If I am lucky enough to return to Porto and I will definitely make a bee line back to Gruta!

Truly excellent. This was by far our favorite meal of our entire trip. I recommend making a reservation. The food was remarkable, especially what they do with the red shrimp! FANTASTIC!! Staff was incredibly friendly and professional. We had an amazing time, I would highly recommend this place.

Dining at Gruta was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The meal began with prawns sautéed with cashews, garlic, and chili. It was a perfectly balanced starter that was both aromatic and full of flavor. For the main course, I enjoyed grilled croaker served with a rich coconut milk and dendê oil sauce, accompanied by basmati rice. Mixing in the cashew nuts and toasted cassava flour added a wonderful texture and depth to each bite. To finish, the wasabi ice cream was a surprising highlight. It was unique, refreshing, and incredibly flavorful. Gruta’s Michelin recognition is clearly well deserved, and reservations are highly recommended to secure a table at this outstanding restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

We were visiting Porto for a few days and Gruta was so good we ate there twice. The food is innovative without being contrived, resulting in interesting and delicious dishes. The menu is small but perfectly formed with an enough choice for everyone. That is if you like fish as there are no meat options on the menu. There is also an excellent selection of Portuguese wines all reasonably priced. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service friendly and attentive without being in your face. If we were staying longer we’d go a third time.

The food is awesome, and is presented very well. The place however is very tight and if all the tables are filed, the place can get a little noisy. The servers are polite and very accommodating. As far as the quality of the food and its flavors and textures, it compares very well to the best restaurants in New York City

Ah what a lovely place. Nicely hidden , subtle natural light for the outside tables. The food was very good. Outstanding visual definition. Very well composed tastes that complement each other or neutralize one another so you can get another bite of taste explosion. The service was very good, timely not too long not too short. You should drop by for at least the dessert - pavlova with wasabi ice cream - I am adding this taste combo to my lifetime experiences.

Wonderful. Reservations highly recommended. This smaller but comfy establishment serves up amazing seafood dishes. The staff are very professional and accomodating. Decor is simple, clean and inviting. Our server offered up some suggestions and we opted for 2 starter plates which comforted our hunger perfectly. We couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The team was extremely attentive and we felt very well taken care of. Enjoyable dinner overall. The bite size starter dishes (I tried three) were creative and interesting, though missed the mark slightly on flavour — more conceptually clever than delicious. I had the John Dory for my main, which was good, but I definitely had food envy when I saw the beef fillet being served nearby — I’d recommend going for that instead! Service was warm, although I was forgotten about at the end and could have walked without paying (I didn’t!). Still, staff were friendly and the space was immaculate, with great attention to detail in the food. Worth a visit. Bill €130 1 person / 3 courses & 2 drinks

After numerous recommendations from friends and chefs alike, we've been meaning to visit Cozinha das Flores for a long time. After seeing the reviews, I decided to adjust my expectations. However, after having tasty cocktails, finding the interior design (especially the cooking area and the lighting) impressive, and being served the first starter (bulhão pato) I knew that our experience would exceed my expectations. We were very surprised by how balanced all the dishes were and that for once a Portuguese restaurant was not scared of serving dishes with a kick to it. The seafood rice with lobster was exceptional - among the best we've had in Porto - distinguished by its unique citrus notes. Out of, bulhão pato, turnip natas, smoked squid, local green asparagus, blue lobster wet rice and the salad as a side dish, the only under seasoned dish was the asparagus (it lacked salt). While the food deserves high praise, the service had inconsistencies. We experienced a somewhat chaotic approach without a dedicated server and faced lengthy waits for wine and our first course. However, the sommelier who assisted us was incredibly kind and single-handedly elevated our service experience. I'd highly recommend it for its outstanding culinary offerings, though it's worth adjusting service expectations.

Hands down my favorite restaurant. The consistently delicious food and outstanding service are what keep me coming back. The ambiance is warm and stylish, and I love being able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work. It adds something special to the entire experience. We always start with a few of the snack dishes. The spider crab donuts are a must — light, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin the meal. We like to explore the other snacks too, and one standout has been the crispy laminated dough with cockles, which bursts with flavor and texture. For starters, the smoked squid from the Azores with chickpeas is always a favorite. It’s rich, perfectly cooked, and full of depth. The asparagus options tend to be lighter and refreshing, offering a nice contrast to the bolder flavors. When it comes to main dishes, the John Dory and grilled beef fillet are both beautifully prepared and reliably excellent. That said, I find myself returning to the wild blue fish and pork shoulder steak. They’re both unique, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. If you’re dining with a group, the tomato and blue lobster rice is a fantastic shared dish — generous and deeply satisfying. Dessert is not to be missed. The Milk dessert is one of the most creative I’ve had. It captures the essence of sweet milk in multiple forms, and it’s delicate, not overly sweet. On our latest visit, we also tried the cherry stone ice cream. The cherries had just the right amount of tartness, making it a refreshing and memorable way to end the meal. Some items change with the seasons, but the menu is always balanced and full of inspired choices. We love bringing friends and family here because we know they’ll experience the same incredible food and service we always do.

What an incredible experience! This place is truly amazing, with a fantastic and cozy atmosphere. We were seated on the upper floor – just watch out for the low ceilings ;) From there, we had a great view of the bustling waiters and all the tables filled with happy guests. The pleasant hum of conversation created a unique, vibrant energy. For our appetizer, we had the mushroom and asparagus dish with an egg. It was a flavor explosion—an absolute must-try! As a main course, we chose the classic Portuguese dish, francesinha, prepared in the traditional way. The portion was huge and incredibly filling, and we regretted not ordering the half-portion, as we had no room left for dessert. We didn't have a reservation, but we arrived just before the afternoon opening time. We waited for a short time in line and were given a table for an hour, which was more than enough thanks to the quick service. It was a truly fantastic dining experience! Thank you!

I am visiting Porto for almost 3 years, at least 3-4 weeks a year. The best food for me is by far Francesinha. Every time I take an uber ask then what francesinha he thinks is the best, so you can imagine I ate a lot of them already. However tonight I found the place, where I can say with confidence that has the best. You need to order with bife do lombo & egg and just enjoy this magical meal. I am a Man of perfection and so was this Francesinha. 10/10 recommended

But without a doubt, the ribs are on another level; the 48-hour wine marinade makes them exquisite. We ordered half a pica, but it's really spicy. For those who don't tolerate it well, it ends up being a nuisance to finish the dish. The accompaniment was orange salad, simply fresh, juicy and sweet. The attention from the entire staff was magnificent; everyone treated us with such love. I would definitely come back.

Really, really great vegetarian option for the Francesinha! If you want to try this Porto staple but without the crazy amounts of meat it usually comes with, then this is your place. The veggie version is definitely not an afterthought. We shared one for two and we're absolutely full! Nice staff, but can get busy. Reservations for bigger groups than 2 definitely recommended!

Café Santiago is a laid-back dining spot renowned for its delectable egg-topped sandwiches and hearty comfort fare, along with a selection of beers. The star of the menu is the Francesinha, Portugal's take on the croque-monsieur, featuring layers of cured ham, smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika, chipolata, roast meat smothered in melted cheese and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
We had the steak sandwich and had it split into two portion just add €1+. I can’t remember. But you’d get extra eggs and fries as it’s split to two plates. Well worth it as we’re not big eaters plus we then get to order another dish! Service was fast and prompt. We were early so no queue for us.

I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic francesinha, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the service: the staff was unprofessional and overly familiar, calling me "my love" and touching my arm, which made me uncomfortable. I don't know if it is part of portuguese culture but a more respectful and professional attitude would be greatly appreciated as a tourist. As for the food, while I understand that francesinha is a local specialty and many people love it, it wasn’t to my personal taste. However, I respect that this might just be a matter of preference. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, mainly due to the service.

Good afternoon, I had dinner here today. And I am very disappointed. At first glance, the food looked good. But the reality was completely different. The meat smelled slightly off, but more importantly, it wasn't cooked through. I didn't finish my meal and reported everything to the waiter. I was asked if I wanted the meat cooked further. I said no, because there wasn't much left. Then the waiter took the food away and that was it. I find it really outrageous to serve someone raw meat and not even apologise, let alone make the customer pay the full amount. I understand that this can happen sometimes, but the staff's reaction must be different!!!!

Francesinha is a Porto classic, and around Café Santiago you’ll find several places specializing in it. This restaurant, with entrances from both Rua de Santo Ildefonso and Rua de Passos Manuel, clearly takes its Francesinha seriously — it’s offered in several variations. As one reviewer said perfectly: “I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t need to try it again.” It’s definitely an acquired taste, but hearty and filling — arrive hungry. My wife had Bacalhau à Braga, which was nicely prepared, and we finished with Aletria — a dessert made from thin noodles simmered in sweet milk and dusted with cinnamon. Service was friendly and quick, rounding out a solid local experience.

Tried the famous francesinha at Café Santiago and it delivered. Rich, hearty, and indulgent, with a perfectly balanced spicy beer sauce. The portion is generous, the meat is tender, and the melted cheese blanket is pure comfort. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. If you are in Porto and want to try the city’s signature dish, this is the place. Go hungry.

Incredibly delicious francesinha. Came here solo and immediately got a seat at the bar. Short wait for the sandwich. The sauce is delicious and comforting, and the meats with bread are amazing. Tastes much better than it looks! Place was packed, expect to wait with 2+ people. Service was friendly and efficient

Francesinha baked in a wood oven! Ordered the Francesinha Santiago - Bife do Lombo, that upgrades the beef to siloin, also for that price comes already included the fried egg and the french fries. Aletria for desert, it was also top notch! Delicious! with a Café were both the perfect send off!

Went there after seeing all the positive reviews and was highly disappointed. We ordered francesinhas and caldo verde. When the francesinhas came out it looked really good at first look. However the sandwich itself was not hot and lukewarm at best. Both the fries and the bread was very stale.

Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!

It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto
Scott L — Google review
Mercado do Bolhão is one of the highlights of Porto and a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s flavours in one place. The market is spotless, beautifully restored, and full of life. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.

Lovely indoor market with a wide range of produce aimed mainly at tourists. Fabulous to be able to buy a glass of wine etc in a real glass and wander around the stalls. Places to sit and eat the wide range of foods available. Stall holders were very pleasant and helpful. Good range of products that are hard to source at home and generally good vfm. What was disappointing was that none of the foods on sale were out for you to sample. It’s the first market I have visited where this was the case. Usually there are plates with little samples on so you can taste before you buy. Very clean and everything very well presented.

This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.

Sa e some time for a visit to this market. Stunning array of cured meets and seafood ready for tasting. Wine of course too. I had some of the largest oysters to eat. Easy to find and right off from the metro.

This is a must visit place in Porto. A large indoor marketplace with restaurants housed in a renovated old building. There is a lot to see and to taste. Vegetables, fruit and fresh juice, fresh fish, famous canned sardines, special coffee, olive oil and olives, flowers, wines including port of course, perfumes and hand-made souvenirs to buy. Often, you can meet a performing artist (or a group).

This is a great local market featuring fresh seafood and diverse offerings. Just be aware that the operating hours for the restaurants on the top floor are separate from the main market's closing time.

Restaurant
Adega São Nicolau is a cozy and unassuming restaurant that serves up traditional Portuguese dishes with a homestyle touch. Owned by the same people as Taberna dos Mercadores, it embodies the warmth of Portuguese hospitality. The menu features classic favorites like bacalhau a Narcisa and veal steak from Arouca, but the real highlights are the seasonal specials, such as capelin stuffed with Alheira and rabbit in red wine.
Wow. Best octopus I’ve had in my life - so tender and perfectly seasoned simply with olive oil, salt and some onion and pepper. Corner sliver view of the sea, some good wine and great authentic food and service. The veal dish was also amazing. A must visit!
Heather T — Google review
Iconic location with an atmosphere that feels truly authentic. The food was exactly what you’d hope for in Porto — fresh, flavorful, and generous. The shrimps were outstanding: perfectly cooked, fresh, and rich with flavor. The grilled sardines were the ideal first-night meal in Porto — simple, traditional, and absolutely delicious. Service was excellent — quick, efficient, and very friendly. A small tip: make sure to put your name on the waitlist when you arrive, as there is almost always a queue. The system runs smoothly, and the short wait is well worth it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to dive straight into genuine Portuguese flavors and a great dining experience in the heart of Porto

My companions and I had an excellent meal here! I tried to make reservations via phone but my call wasn’t answered. So we just went there for a late lunch, and had a wait of 20 minutes. The staff is efficient and they try to sit you asap. Once you have your table, the staff is really helpful and answers your questions. The food comes in quite fast. The octopus rice was splendid and the octopus fillet was unbelievably tender. The tripe was the highlight for me though. It was so rich, complex, and tender. I hope it was easier to get reservations, but it’s worth the wait. It was an amazing meal for our last day in Porto!

If you want to eat something near the river side, I would pick here! Prawn was good. Sauce was with deep seafood favor. Octopus was pretty ok as well. Staff were nice. We went there for just simple food and a glass of wine then liked prawn so ordered more food to just have dinner there!!!!!

This was our second time dining here. Our first visit was with a reservation, but this time we walked in. There was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The food is amazing! I loved the oxtail stew and the Arouquesa veal steak. And don’t forget to order the orange pie for dessert it’s a must-try. The service is excellent as well. I’ll definitely be coming back every time we visit Porto!

This was our first dinner place in Porto and it did not disappoint. You may have to wait a bit for a table, but it would be worth it. It’s close to the river but tucked away on a little narrow uphill street that lends a quaint atmosphere of authenticity to it. The portions of the mains is pretty big, I’m a hearty eater, I can really eat a lot, but the servings for one main would be good for two people, particularly if you would be doing an appetizer, and dessert after. My partner and I made the mistake of getting one main each. We tried the Tripe stew and the veal stew. Both were very rich. The tripe was tender, not gamey, and was stewed with white beans and some carrots making it a very filling dish. The veal was also very tender, perfectly seasoned, and had a moderately thick sauce perfect for sopping up with bread. We also had the croquettes for starters which were a bit too creamy inside (the outer shell was nice and crispy, and the jesuit crackers which were light and fluffy. We were very full in the end so the climb/walk up the hilly parts was a wee bit challenging but kinda welcome. Pro tip: just really think about whether you need to have two mains, best to share one.

What an amazing find! The inside is like you're in a wine barrel. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable...and fun. The food was amazing. I had the Lagareiro Octopus and it was one of the best things I've eaten over my 2 weeks in Portugal. My sister had the Lagareiro cod, which was also delicious, but the octopus was outstanding. Go there - you will not be disappointed

We had the final meal of our short break in Porto here, and a fitting finale it was. Superb food, with a friendly service in a really nice atmosphere. We shared Codfish croquettes and Octopus salad to start, both fresh and flavoursome. For mains it was Octopus fillet which came with Octopus rice, across the table it was Oxtail stew with rice. Both dishes were superb. We stumbled across this place earlier in the day, and said we'd go back later, and weren't disappointed, I would recommend anyone to try this small restaurant which is slightly off the beaten track.

ODE Porto Wine House is a charming boutique nestled on the Douro River, offering a genuine experience of Porto's charm and historical beauty. The city's passionate locals are known for their love of The North and its gastronomy, making it an important destination in Western Europe. The wine bar-come-restaurant takes pride in sourcing local organic produce to pair with its wines, offering meticulously crafted dishes in a beautiful setting.
Ode Porto delivered on every level. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, with excellent wine recommendations that perfectly matched the meal. The food was top-notch across the board, but the steak with 3-day cooked sauce was next level—easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired with a series of great wines. To top it off, the chocolate fondant was rich, perfectly gooey, and balanced by the bright, homemade orange ice cream. A perfect finish to an incredible meal. If you’re in Porto, this place is a must.

Ode Porto is an absolute treat. We were here at the end of May and the experience was unforgettable. You step in from the hustle and bustle of the streets and immediately everything slows down. The staff was fantastic from beginning to end and the owner makes you feel like a guest in his house. The love and care for what they do here is apparent. Each dish was fantastic and wine offerings were just as good. I wish we could have tried it all. A standout dish for me was the Cabidela Rice. A dish that seems rustic but was so complex in flavors. Highly recommended this gem when you are in Porto.

What a beautiful and intimate evening at Ode Porto Wine House! I joined my friend for his birthday dinner, and from the moment we entered, it was clear this wasn’t just another restaurant — it was a place where care, detail, and soul are put into everything. The food was exceptional, the wine selection was on point, and the ambiance… simply perfect for a memorable celebration. A special thank you to the owner, Mr. Cristóvão Sousa, for his generosity and warm hospitality — the surprise at the end was so thoughtful and added a heartfelt touch to the night. Highly recommended for those who appreciate authentic Portuguese flavors served with love 💫 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cannot express how special my time was at ODE. First of all, I had single handedly the best food I have had in Portugal. We had the tripes as an appetizer which was so good that my finance and I thought about just ordering more orders of that as our entire meal. But then the main courses came out which absolutely stunned. I had the octopus rice which was perfectly seasoned and not at all too heavy. My partner got the Iberian pork ribs which literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Dessert was the owners own mothers pudding which had us savoring every bite. We were introduced to our new favorite champagne - the entirety was more than we could have hoped for. The history behind this place is moving and the devotion to family, tradition, culture, quality, and food was very touching. The owner wrote us a handwritten congratulations on our engagement on a hand painted parting gift. What an experience- I hope each and every person at ODE knows that they have given us a once in a lifetime production!
Izzy G — Google review
Tucked inside a centuries-old wine cellar in the heart of Porto, Ode isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a love letter to heritage, hospitality, and the kind of soulful cooking that lingers long after the last bite. From the moment you step through the doors, you’re met with a welcome note that immediately sets the tone: a tribute to the chef’s mother and grandmother — the original culinary muses — whose recipes, warmth, and spirit still guide the kitchen today. The space itself is intimate, rustic, and rich with history, the stone walls echoing with the quiet clink of wine glasses and the soft hum of conversation. But what truly sets Ode apart isn’t just the setting — it’s the people. The owner/sommelier treated us like family, offering expert wine pairings with heartfelt conversation and the kind of hospitality that feels instinctual, not rehearsed. And then, the food. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, glazed in something sweet and smoky that made silence fall across the table. The chicken — deceptively simple — was cooked to perfection, juices running, each bite layered with warmth and care. Every plate felt personal, as if it had been made just for us. Ode is a place where time slows, stories are shared, and meals become memories. It’s the kind of restaurant you wish you could take home with you — but instead, you carry it in your heart (and on your taste buds) long after you’ve left.

Wow! We celebrated our anniversary here in October 2025, based on a recommendation from a friend. Cute and great food, wine and port. My dish was outstanding. My wife liked but did not love her dish. The owner visits every table to ask how things are going. When he heard she liked but did not love her dish, we were totally surprised and charmed when he volunteered to replace it. Her replacement was one of her favorite dinners in a 3 week journey throughout Portugal. I had a great colheita from 1982 (our anniversary year)....expensive but the best ever. One minor vignette....we were seated downstairs near some doors/windows...very cute. Some guests stepped out for a smoke, and smoke wafted in. Yuck. We mentioned to owner, and he skillfully and diplomatically asked the others to step away. They had no idea their smoke was wafting in, and they quickly and apologetically moved further away. Problem solved. Kudos to owner for handling.

DOP is a modern and spacious restaurant located near the Ribeira in Porto, run by renowned Portuguese Chef Rui Paula. The elegant interior design and well-stocked wine cellar create a sophisticated atmosphere. The menu, which changes frequently, features dishes like monkfish with Mondego rice and seafood or suckling pig with potatoes and cider sauce. Guests may have the chance to interact with Chef Rui Paula himself.
Had an epic experience here! Was able to get a reservation the day of and was so happy I did. Went for the 14 moments and it was perfectly portioned - was never too full or too hungry. Loved the variety and creativity with the food. It was visually stunning + delicious. I also got the wine pairing with the moments and that was so fun. The staff was so helpful with teaching me about Portuguese wines and explaining more about the wines on the map in the menu. I’m still thinking about this experience months after my trip! Huyen D — Google review
In summary falls short of what is promised, OK but overpriced. I will explain. The staff are very welcoming and attentive, from start to finish. The decor and atmosphere on the ground floor looked very nice, unfortunately we were placed on the first floor which is nothing special, and where the air conditioning was blowing too hard (despite it having been reduced to a minimum on asking the staff). Now to the food: The amuse bouche served in the reception area was delicious. A little Thai inspired shrimp seasoned and wrapped in a leaf, accompanied by a small coup of white rum with lime juice and jalapino oil. As described just to awaken the taste buds... We selected the 6 dish option, with me taking the wine pairing in addition. Whilst waiting for the first dish we had a glass of sparkling wine, which was quite nice, slightly yeast nose, light and crisp on the palate. The first dish was a trio of (with the ordering in which to eat given by the waiter): small cones of cod, very nice; trompe l'œil oyster shell which was edible and to be spread with the ball of oyster infused butter served as a small ball in the center of the "shell", this was greasy, the shell lacking flavour, so not a success; and finally spinach and wild garlic puree with a fried thin potatoe disk on top, the flavour of the puree was good, but the disk moistened by the puree was difficult to cut through so I folded it up to eat it, it added nothing other than frustration to an otherwise lovely dish. While waiting for the next disk we were served a sesame cracker (nicely spiced) with an artichoke puree, with olive oil and sourdough bread. All of this was delicious, the olive oil exceptional. The second dish was their "standout dish" (guide Michelin terme) of squid carbonara, squid tagliatelle, quail egg yolk, and smoked squid cubes. Indeed this dish stood out from the others, refined flavours, great textures. The third dish, langoustine with yellow Thai curry sauce and kafir oil drops, cauliflower toasted disk and cauliflour puree, this was lovely. Bright distinct flavours, just the cauliflour puree that in comparison was bland and added nothing other than volume to the dish. The fourth dish of cod and a vegetable spaghetti topped with shell fish and served with a spinach sauce was a dish of contrasts, the vegetable spaghetti was superbly seasoned, so much so that the cod in comparison whilst perfectly cooked was bland. A shame. The the fifth dish of quail, nicely cooked with a delicious sauce and lemon flavoured rice shaped pasta, was spoilt by serving it with fried cake which completely overpowered the other delicate and sumptuous flavours. The sixth course desert of chocolate with a vanilla and black garlic ice cream was excellent. And the wine pairing, of a sweet desert wine excellent. Thus in contrast to the wine pairings of the other dishes, not that they did not complement well, but that there was so little flavour in the other wines that frankly I would have been better off with water (I do not recommend taking the wine pairing offer because of this and the very small servings with each dish). And after that we were served a pair of sweets (chocolate truffle and an almond cake?), very good.

Oof - wish I had read the reviews and paid attention to the cancellation policy in the restaurant before booking. We were seated at one of the nicest tables in the restaurant (round window on the ground floor) but that is where it ended. Sadly one of the worst fine dining experiences I have had anywhere in the world. They have plenty of staff but its chaos - it takes them ages (40min+) to refill your drinks, Half of what we were served as vegetarians was actually inedible (neither my teeth nor my knife could make it through one of their courses). Underseasoned food and bizarre combinations. No protein anywhere for a vegetarian of course. Worse still - as soon as the feedback is not over the top complimentary (and we were very soft and kind in giving the feedback) - the service levels drop immediately. It is simply outrageously expensive for the quality of food and service they provide and I cannot honestly recommend it for anyone - especially not if you are vegetarian. By the end of the evening as we did not leave a tip for the total lack of service on our 300eur bill - we showed ourselves out of the restaurant. We took it as fun and a learning experience - but I wish we had listened when warned by our Portuguese friends that this a total tourist trap. I hope this review helps others avoid the experience we had XD. Plenty of other wonderful restaurants in Porto (Oma, Seiva, Em Carne...) that we tried - go there instead lol.

We enjoyed our experience here, but i will say it was good not great. Some dishes were really delicious, like the one with the red prawns. Others were unremarkable or had a strange pairing. I think they still have a few things to work out before they could be considered really great. Unfortunately, it was also the most expensive meal we had on our trip.

DOP Restaurant in Porto combines the charm of a 14th-century building with contemporary design. The interior features sleek lines, warm lighting, and an intimate ambiance, making it ideal for both romantic dinners and special occasions. The restaurant’s location in Porto’s city center places it near landmarks like the Clérigos Tower and the Ferreira Borges Market, adding to its appeal. Chef Rui Paula, a prominent figure in Portuguese gastronomy, leads DOP with a focus on elevating traditional Portuguese cuisine. His approach emphasizes the use of local ingredients and classic techniques, reimagined with a contemporary twist. The tasting menu, titled Não há futuro sem memória (“There’s No Future Without Memory”), offers a journey through Portugal’s rich culinary heritage. DOP’s tasting menu features dishes that showcase the depth of Portuguese flavors. Highlights include: Squid Carbonara: A reinterpretation of the classic pasta dish, using squid to mimic the texture of tagliatelle. Sea Bass in its Habitat: A dish that presents the fish in a bouillabaisse-style preparation, highlighting its natural flavors. Duck Leg with Truffle Purée: Tender duck complemented by a rich truffle purée, showcasing the depth of Portuguese meats. The wine pairings are carefully selected to complement each course, enhancing the overall dining experience. One more thing about DOP restaurant achieved Michelin title in 2024

In my life, I have never experienced a plate, mud, and pot served in a so-called gourmet restaurant. DOP Porto completely ruined my evening with my wife on her birthday eve. I will never return to this place. The only saving grace was my lovely wife, who remained calm and smiled despite the staff’s shocking ignorance about the food. Needless to say, the dishes were inedible. Forget Michelin stars—DOP Porto rates a solid minus five in my book.
Jagdish B — Google review
Michelin Star? A dinning experience where the chef choices your food. From 6, 10 or 14 moments. There is no disputing the creativity, preparation and work that went into the dishes. Supposedly a fusion of tradition Portuguese food with an Asian hint. In reality a confusion of textures and flavours. There was no ‘Wow’ factor with the dishes, no moments where the flavours hits your tongue and you nod in appreciation. It was all rather ordinary, nothing outstanding. The recommended wine a ‘sparkling wine’ tasted like a cheap cava. The staff, while professional and knowledgeable, seemed transfixed in their service, there was no eye contact, no smiles, not very welcoming and not adding to the experience. Very functional. Overall, a disappointing, ordinary and expensive experience. There are so many fine dining restaurants in Porto. I’d suggest you look around and go to one of those. I’m sure you will have a far superior flavoursome meal, at a venue with a better atmosphere, more cheerful staff and save yourself a lot of euros. Overall a disappointing dining experience with many ordinary moments.

daTerra Baixa is a popular vegetarian and vegan restaurant located in downtown Porto, just a short walk from the Sao Bento train station. The stylish restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat buffet with a variety of delicious soups, creative starters like hummus and veggie shots, and innovative plant-based dishes. The modern and minimalist decor creates a vibrant atmosphere with abundant natural light. They also serve breakfast for a set price and offer fresh juices and vegetarian desserts separately.
Five stars across the board. My wife and I both eat meat, fish, the works, and have been enjoying what Porto has to offer for a week now. So trust me when I say that even if you're not vegan, this spot has stellar food, not to mention excellent service. We particularly liked the mushroom katsu, which was one of my favorite dishes of our trip so far, and the passion fruit curry dessert, which was unique and delicious. Muito obrigado to the chef and staff here--if we weren't leaving in the morning we'd come back for lunch tomorrow!

The place has a clean, modern vibe that makes it easy to hang out and enjoy your meal. I've been vegan for years and have tried many places, but during my time in Porto, I ended up eating here most of the time. If you're vegan and happen to be in Porto, this place is a must-go.

The food was delicious!! The dessert with tapioca is one of the best ones I had lately, the kind you eat slowly! Atmosphere was chill, very recently reshaped environment. Service was also nice, with very kind people.

NO LONGER A BUFFET!!! Has been ‘renovated’ and is no longer offering buffet services. Dishes are an average of €17 and though they are okay, are not really worth the money, especially compared to the good value that the previous format offered. Very disappointed overall.

This place is so good that I came back twice in my short porto visit. Though it isn’t a buffet, the food options are all delicious and very worth trying. The staff is so friendly and kind. Paulo and Leanor are the best, go see them!

Amazing food and ambiance. Our server Paulo was extremely friendly and welcoming. Paulo recommended sharing, which we did, but I think we need to return to sample the remain dishes. The dishe with pumpkin black rice with mushrooms was our favourite so far.

Seafood restaurant
MARISQUEIRA DO PORTO, located in the Campo Alegre area, is a top seafood restaurant in Porto. The establishment offers very fresh and high-quality seafood at fair prices, making it a favorite among locals. The relaxed atmosphere and attentive service add to the dining experience. Notable dishes include Cod with cornbread, Octopus a lagareiro, Seafood Platter, and the iconic francesinha.
Amazing food in a very small and cosy restaurant of 16 seats. We kept walking past and wondering why there were always queues outside. So our final night we decided to try our luck and happened to be there in time when it opened for dinner. We ere the 15 and 16 people let in for first sitting. The food was nice but I wouldn’t think it would be worth waiting for an hour if longer outside for a seat. Also worth noting that the portions are quite big and you can share the mains between two people. We made the mistake of ordering 2 mains and that was a lot of food. It was nice but not amazing.
Dylan C — Google review
This was a great seafood place. It was busy but not too busy. The staff was all very friendly. The food was delicious, recommend the octopus salad, tiger prawns, mussels, tuna steak. We were recommended a dry white wine which was great.
Pawel S — Google review
Good food, tasteless cooking. If you like seafood for what it is then you'll love it. If you expect new flavors, this is not the place to go. No seasoning at all. Sticks to basic butter, garlic and minimal spices. Nothing new or innovative. Could compare it with Joe's in the US without the terrific ambiance and warmth. Needs bold dipping sauces, spices and fancy drinks to pair the menu. This is like an old fashioned boil without the spices, according to them to taste the shellfish as is. Not my cup of tea but the quality of the ingredients is indisputable

A lovely seafood restaurant right next to our hotel. The food was really good! The octopus rice was surprisingly so so tasty. And the platter was delicious too if you love seafood. I would definitely recommend giving this place a go.

Wonderful busy seafood restaurant on the very outskirts of Porto. Fantastic range of seafood of the highest quality and freshness. Very extensive menu with every type of fish and seafood. We had the platter which was fairly priced for the amount we had. The restaurant was very busy so service was a little slow but we both had a great dinner
Dash D — Google review
In Porto, we discovered this wonderful restaurant away from the tourist crowds. The steak was excellent, and the menu offered plenty of fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese dishes — all at very affordable prices. Highly recommended!

I would definitely come back! That was a very nice lunch The classic sea food platter was yummy!

We reserved a seat online. The waiter that welcomed us was very nice and was helpful while we tried to choose our meals. The waiter even showed us examples. Overall the food is nice, and is served well. Personally it was my first time eating seafood - I wasn't disappointed but wasn't too impressed either. FYl - the bread that they give you in the beginning is not for free... I removed 2 stars for the food because it could have been much more tasteful. And removed 1 star from the service because of the bread that no one informed us that it’s not for free…

O Buraco is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Porto, near the famous Bolhao market. With over 50 years of history, this establishment offers authentic Portuguese cuisine at reasonable prices. The menu features classic dishes such as boiled cabeca de pescada, carapaus de escabeche, and figado de cebolada. Additionally, daily specials like feijoada a Buraco and tripas a Buraco showcase regional flavors.
probably one of the best restaurants in Porto. If looking for genuine Portuguese cuiscine, this is the absolutely place. serving hours are 1200-1500, 1900 -2300, it is always fully packed, need to queue up for tables. It can seat about 70 guests, but got very few waiters so they are really busy and rushing all the time. But the kitchen is very quick. First time I went, not knowing they only serve tripa fridays and saturdays. So ending up I had the famous Portuguese sausage Alheira, which is not my cup of tea. Went again and finally had the awesome Tripas a Moda do Porto. Incredibly tasty and tender, even the rice is flavorful and well cooked. I will return again. On the 3rd visit, I had duck rice. O Buraco is definitely the best..

Incredible food. Literally the tastiest most filling chicken and salad I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and so was the food/drinks. The highlight was the cheesecake recommended by our server, which I have thought about loads since eating. This was definitely worth the queue (only a short one).

Got this recommendation after putting into Gemini: authentic, value for money, Portuguese traditional restaurant. This restaurant came up on top. So popular we had to wait outside to get a table. Service is better than it seems. It was full so we got a corridor table which was fine. There were more tables in the basement. Food was great. Tasty and efficient. Waiter recommended that we didn't over order as portions were generous. Ordered soups. Had the biftek and the cod buraco. Both lovely. Topped up the vinho verde with some tawny port after dessert. Came to be €65 for 2

Great food, good price and good portion size. The menu is not big but everything we had was very good. They serve mostly fish and some meat dishes. I did not notice anything with crab, shrimp, clam or mussels. Come before 7:30 if you can or you might have to wait outside.

Came here 3 times because I can’t find another place with better price/quality. Duck rice, fried sardines were great. Wish they can make the Wednesday special (meat and bean stew) available everyday. Service is average not that welcoming, but at least efficient.

O Buraco offers authentic, local Portuguese cuisine that truly delights. Their bean rice and sardines are standout dishes we absolutely love. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy genuine flavors while avoiding typical tourist traps. Don’t miss their special sangrias, available in sparkling and berry varieties, which set them apart from other places.

Excellent food, big portions and fast service. The prices are very cheap and I think everything is homemade. The rice was a side dish included in the price of the fish.

Restaurant
Pedro Lemos is a renowned restaurant located in a historic building in Foz do Douro, Porto. The establishment spans two floors, featuring a charming ground floor with a wine cellar and an upper floor with a cosmopolitan ambiance. The restaurant offers three tasting menus, including a vegetarian option, showcasing fresh local and regional ingredients. With its Michelin star status, Pedro Lemos is considered one of the city's best dining spots.
Superb restaurant. We visited Porto just for Pedro Lemos, and it was absolutely worth it. The service, the atmosphere, and out of this world food. We tried the tasting menu, and every part of it was just perfect. I cannot say enough about the food, it just needs to be experienced. The staff were very friendly, especially our server Katarina, who went above and beyond, and to top it all off: on our way out, the head chef - Pedro Lemos himself - came out to say "hello." This is what I call a perfect experience.
E A — Google review
On our first night in Porto, we arrived at Pedro Lemos with our suitcases. Instead of being judgmental about our situation as we’ve had a long day and wasn’t able to stop at the hotel without being extremely late to dinner, they took our luggage with grace. We first sat down in their “waiting room” where we started with small bites. Afterwards, we entered the main dining room. The restaurant was beautifully designed and we learned that they had just recently moved into the space. It truly was a work of art. Instead of doing the regular tasting menu, we opted into the al la carte menu with 2 appetizer, one entree and dessert each. We wanted to try more of their dishes than just both having the tasting menu. The flavors of each taste were delicious and perfectly made. I can see why they received their one Michelin star. Would highly recommend for your dining experience in Porto.
Mandy G — Google review
Dining at Pedro Lemos was one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal. From the moment we walked in, the place felt special—warm, welcoming, and full of charm. What really made the night unforgettable was getting to meet Chef Pedro himself. He was so down-to-earth and genuinely took the time to chat with us, which made the experience feel even more personal. I have a few food allergies, which usually makes eating out a bit nerve-wracking, but the team here couldn’t have been more accommodating. They took everything seriously and still managed to serve dishes that were creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I felt totally looked after the entire evening, which meant so much. It’s not every day you find a place where the food is outstanding and the people are just as amazing. Pedro Lemos is more than just a fine dining spot—it’s an experience made with heart. I can’t recommend it enough.
Colin C — Google review
Excellent service that you would expect from a mission rated restaurant. I would say the service quality is more akin to three Michelin stars than one. We did the eight moments set course. It was delicious. For a one Michelin star restaurant I would say this exceeded expectations. If this was a three Michelin star restaurant I would say it's below expectations. One of the appetizers (with the spider crab) was amazing, and the squab and squid dishes were fantastic. The lobster and red snapper dishes were good but not special. However, The restaurant is intimate and fancy. However, it was also a bit boring and lacked energy. Loud the music was very slow. I wouldn't expect loud music or a bustling atmosphere, but it was very much on the low energy. Overall, we had a very nice experience.
Minh H — Google review
The dining experience at Pedro Lemos' Porto riverfront location exceeded expectations on all fronts when we tried their 7-course tasting menu. Every course impressed, including the surpise palette of welcome bites served at the reception lounge, but the blue lobster and amberjack courses were standouts. Truly exceptional execution all around, impeccable service from the moment you walk in, and a spotless but unpretentious ambience. A must try!

Fantastic food served by warm-hearted, kind and professional people in a beautiful venue. Focusing on a tasting menu with local produce, fish and with mostly local wines in the pairing, it was a wonderful introduction to Portuguese fine dining.

PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE. Birthday dinner was a success. Food, service, and atmosphere is why it rightfully has its Michelin backing. Pictures don’t do it justice Food: Chef Pedro’s understanding of sauce and flavor profiles comes out in every dish. Each item on your plate is able to shine in its own light, while intertwining with the rest of the dish to bring you a masterful experience be in each bite. Also the vegetarian tasting menu (partner is vegetarian) is a unique option for fine dining and did not disappoint- one of her all time favorites Service: every single member of the team worked in lockstep to make sure you were taken care of from the moment you walk in. Celebrated my birthday here and they went above and beyond. Atmosphere: intimate experience, comfortable seats, great decor. Would gladly go again, night after night.

Restaurant
Culto ao Bacalhau is a restaurant in Porto, named after the famous salted cod dish that's essential to Portuguese cuisine. Located next to the Douro River, it offers a variety of cod-based dishes with unique twists like dried fruits or spinach and chestnuts. The restaurant is known for its friendly staff and peaceful ambiance. Visitors have praised the generous portions and tasty roasted cod served in clay pans.
I had an amazing dining experience at Culto Ao Bacalhau. We arrived right as the lunch crowd was leaving, so the restaurant was quiet. From start to finish, everything was excellent. Our server, Anderson Filipa, was outstanding — knowledgeable, attentive, and made great recommendations. I ordered the Bacalhau, which was lightly fried then oven-roasted — the flavors were outstanding. My dinner companion had the medium-rare steak, and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Anderson also suggested a white wine that paired beautifully with the meal. We finished with a decadent sponge cake that was the perfect ending. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, and the chef’s opening gift — fresh bread with accompaniments including a delicious crushed olive dip — was a lovely touch. Truly a five-star experience. It’s no surprise they’ve earned their Michelin star. I highly recommend!
TC C — Google review
Food is extremely overpriced. Very poor menu, mostly contains cod fish as a base. Awful so-called “sponge cake”, it’s not sponge at all, it’s disgusting and undercooked. We tried almost all the menu, and pretty nice was only octopus salad (if it was octopus without salad). The service, though, was very good, but it was a very bad idea to go there and spend that amount of money for so bad tasting experience. You should think twice if you still want to go there. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
Maryna V — Google review
If Porto has a temple dedicated to codfish (bacalhau), it's Culto ao Bacalhau. This restaurant takes Portugal's most iconic ingredient and elevates it into an unforgettable dining experience. Every single dish we tried was creative and delicious. Cozy modern atmosphere, great wine list, and super friendly and professional staff. We are looking forward to going back to Culto ao Bacalhau on our next trip to Porto.
Guillermo M — Google review
Culto ao Bacalhau is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves Portuguese cuisine and, of course, cod! The service was outstanding—our server was so friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was also great, with a warm and inviting feel. The food was good overall, but after a few dishes, the focus on cod became a bit overwhelming. Still, it’s a great restaurant, and I highly recommend it if you’re a big fan of the ingredient.
Paul L — Google review
Huge let down. The food was very mediocre for how much it cost. Water costs as much as a glass of wine. Service was terrible. I’m not sure if the waiter was a little standoffish towards me because I was a solo diner or for other cultural reasons. I saw him talking warmly and explaining dishes to other parties but not me. He was sarcastic and abrupt with me. When I asked for the bill, he forgot about it. I was patient and waited 15mins then I saw him getting into the lift across from the market. Definitely not worth it. At all.
Constance L — Google review
Stunning restaurant in the market. We had the cod fillets to start and the steak and cod and prawns as the mains and it was delicious and just perfect! I’m amazed by this place. Ask for port at the end and witness the huge bottle. Wonderful service too. Fantastic!
Jason R — Google review
The food here is absolutely amazing! We had the cod au gratin which was really tasty and very filling, and the 🍅 tomato and tuna 🐟 salad 🥗which was very fresh and delicious. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a warm ambience. 💡
Rani — Google review
This place is pretty good, but nothing too exceptional. The fish was tasty but too much olive oil for my taste. Starters were really good, though, and it was nice that they gave us a small cake for free for takeaway when we were leaving. Service was good, but we waited maybe like 30 mins for the main meal. Also, it's a common area, so they don't have toilets in their restaurants there; you have to go outside to the toilet. 4/5

This place is great if you are a seafood lover! An aquarium in the entrance shows several lobsters that you can select for your meal. There is a great wine selection and the atmosphere is also great. A must go to anyone that loves seafood!

I had an opportunity to eat here on my last day in Porto. What a great way to end my trip. I was seated at the bar area and got to watch the chef and staff in action. I was in awe of their well oiled machine. I ordered 3 large prawns to start, seafood rice for one as an entree, and banoffee pie for dessert. The prawns were sweet and meaty, the seafood rice was perfectly seasoned and had plenty of shrimp, clams, crab meat and I think I tasted lobster too 😅. MUST use their spicy oil in the seafood rice. So good and just the right amount of heat. The banoffee pie was creamy and cut perfectly. 10/10 highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back!

Marisqueira Antiga, established in 1957, is a renowned seafood restaurant located in Matosinhos, just north of Porto. While the menu leans towards the pricey side, it boasts an extensive selection of seafood and fish. The house specialty, acorda made with lavagante, is a must-try among other delectable options like shrimp, clams, crab, gooseneck barnacles, sea bass and lamprey.
Our hotel concierge highly recommended this restaurant, saying, “We’ve never seen guests unhappy with Maresquira Antiga,” and after dining there, we completely agree. Located about 20 minutes by car from Porto’s city center, in the Matosinhos fish market district, it’s absolutely worth the trip. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and we appreciated that the flavors were clean and not overly salty—just well-balanced and beautifully prepared. It is slightly on the pricey side, but given the quality, it felt entirely reasonable. This was easily the most memorable meal of our trip to Porto.

The crab was not my thing. It was cooked but served cold, which I didn’t enjoy. The lobster with rice was good, staff was nice and the Perbeces were great. However, the atmosphere was just average, and overall, I don’t think the experience matched the high price. To me, it’s not Michelin-worthy. 🙏🏻

Our experience was very good. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our meal. We had the Shrimp à la Costa and the Sapateira — both well-prepared and delicious. The chocolate mousse for dessert was excellent. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine for €35 and finished with 10- and 20-year Tawny ports. Overall, it was a lovely meal, though on the pricey side — our bill came to €197 (around €120 per person with tip). While everything was enjoyable, we’ve had meals of similar quality elsewhere for less. A good choice if you don’t mind paying a premium for the setting and service.

This is not simply the best vegan restaurant in Porto but simply the best ever restaurant in Porto. We spent here the New Years Eve 2024-25 in an amazing way. Delicious food and presented in the best way possible for an extraordinary culinary experience. Victor and Eduarda are an excellent team and very well mannered towards their customers. They also solved our little "problem" with the transport. We are absolutely in love with this place.

The setting is really lovely and the dishes are very inventive and creative. One dish was entirely celery, and another was entirely strawberry (each time prepared in several different ways). Unfortunately, it seems that all of the effort was put into making these special, one ingredient dishes, rather than into making it taste good. Most of the dishes were very bland (like the celery one). The two dishes that were flavourful were too salty for us to finish. Poor value for money. €55 for 5 bland, small, and simple dishes is not okay. Would not recommend.

The restaurant is family-owned with a classy and cosy vibe. Beautifully decorated as well. The service was excellent, staff was super friendly. We had a lovely chat with the owners. This is one of the best, if not the best, dining experience I’ve had. And I include my pre-vegan life in that. Food was phenomenal and so unusual. Forget about risotto and sorbet! The restaurant itself is beautiful and has been restored over years by the owners. Huge emphasis on sustainability and recycling. When we went, they just had the 9 course tasting menu. They did have had other menus but told us the 9 course was the one that produced the least waste. The courses where superb. Highlights for were the red onion tortellini and the seaweed tempura. My wife loved the tofu lagareiro. They deffo saved the best till last thought as the dessert was one of the nicest things I’ve ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. This is not fast food and it is relatively pricey at €90pp (although not for the quality of the food and the service). It also takes the guts of 3 hours to get through. I would strongly recommend checking it out if you are in Porto.

Visited off the back of a recommendation and were not disappointed. What an amazing, cosy and friendly place. We had the 10 moments menu, which was exquisite. The food was totally original, wine was superb and topped off with perfect port. The team were unbelievably helpful and friendly. Brilliant place.

We had an incredible lunch experience at Almeja, opting for their 10 Moments menu, and it did not disappoint. Every course was meticulously crafted, bringing out bold and refined flavors that showcased both creativity and technical skill. Each dish felt like a thoughtfully curated experience rather than just a meal. The service was truly exceptional—attentive without being intrusive. Small gestures, like ensuring our water glasses were always full and even bringing me a purse hanger when they noticed my bag had fallen, made a lasting impression. It’s these details that elevate a great restaurant to an outstanding one. We also chose the wine pairings, spaced out every 2-3 courses, which complemented the food beautifully. The selection was well-balanced and enhanced the experience without overwhelming the palate. One of the biggest surprises was the second dessert—a curry and coconut ice cream. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it completely shocked us in the best way possible. The balance of spice, creaminess, and sweetness was unexpected yet absolutely delightful. For the quality of food, service, and overall experience, Almeja is very reasonably priced, making it an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy a special meal in Porto. Highly recommended!

This had given us a deeper understanding the background stories of each dish. Really appreciate! One dish i have to give comment on their dessert. It was an ice cream with paste of curry cream. It was amazingly match the taste of spicy and sweetness. Highly recommended!

Met unforgettable people. Ate unforgettable food. Fantastic experience overall. Dined in Friday 7:30, Apr 4, 2025. Had the tasting menu. Everything was delicious. Highlight was the eggplant, the pork and fish with fried capers. I also had the best tasting olive oil in my whole life. Will come back next year hopefully, or every year.

Nestled in the heart of Porto, this Michelin-starred restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience. Each dish is a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chef's innovative combinations surprise the palate, showcasing local ingredients with a creative twist. Highlights include the delicate seafood starter and a rich, savory main that leaves a lasting impression. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, providing excellent wine recommendations that perfectly complement each course. Overall, a must-visit for anyone seeking a remarkable culinary adventure in Porto.

The food here was incredible! I only wish I was hungry enough for the tasting menu when I went. The octopus rice dish was perhaps my favorite octopus dish I’ve ever had. The crème brûlée dessert was also a dessert highlight of our entire Portugal trip. We managed to snatch a same-day reservation in late May, but it could be smart to reserve in advance. I would definitely return here if I made my way back to Porto!

We loved our diner at Almeja (the electric black outs did not affected our meal). We feel in love with the goatling rice and the prawn toast but everything was delicious and they were very kind with us and children.

Restaurante Os Lusíadas is a renowned upscale dining spot located in Matosinhos, just a short distance from Porto. This restaurant is beloved by both locals and travelers for its exceptional seafood offerings. The establishment takes pride in its fresh fish and seafood, with live lobsters on display at the entrance and an array of shellfish available. The ambiance exudes elegance, providing the perfect setting for a memorable meal with loved ones.
This is a classic restaurant with experienced staff. I’ve been here several times and it’s always top quality. Fish is expensive — it always has been — but the prices here are fair. It’s pure, fresh, and tastes amazing. If you’re looking for top wines, they always have a sommelier available and a very extensive wine list.

Nice and friendly staff. Beautiful ambience. The food was extraordinary. I had the best Robalo fish in my life, the waiter told me it comes from a colder water that’s why is tastier, that was new for me! Extraordinary experience!

Very elegant place. The seafood quality and variety is super excellent 👍🏻 The food here is amazing for sure. We loved the bread service (with 5 kinds of excellent olive oil). The scampi was grilled to absolute perfection. The seafood rice was great as well. However our issue with this place was the reception and service. There was no reception whatsoever. We were seated then came the waiter who doesn’t speak a word of English. All went well but they forgot our fish main course (I think by miscommunication). So we left after waiting almost 2 hours hungry.

You want to capture Portugal’s fine dining seafood experience? Then you must try Os Lusiadas. From Portugals coast right to your plate; it doesn’t get any fresher than that. Charming staff in an elegant setting… Will definitely return!

Before you go, call them, and ask what fresh shellfish they will have for that day, besides what they have in their tanks. If the answer is evasive, that's a sign you probably shouldn't go, depending on what you're aiming for. . Also, I suggest you don't go solo, many things are meant for groups, and you will be better treated if you're not just one person, because it's not much of a loss for them if a single person doesn't come back. I was served clams, which were pretty good. Then the disappointment happened, I ordered shellfish rice - it had clams and the frozen (!!) shrimp, which was really chewy, and I'm pretty sure it was industrial and bought already without shells, despite been told otherwise. The broth was ok, but it could have had a stronger flavor. Shellfish rice must have fresh shellfish, and more than just clams and shrimp. Otherwise you can make it at home, for a fraction of the price, and probably better. When you watch reviews from streamers, remember they are treated as kings because they are promoting these restaurants. Most common mortals won't have nearly the same treats. I will probably give it another try, to see what fresh shellfish they will have this time, other than what's in their tanks. I also want to taste their stuffed crab, because if it's fresh, it's one of those things you can't go wrong with. Then I will give my final verdict, but for now I just want to forget this experience.

Great place for a special seafood meal! We went before our tour of the sardine factory. The salt encrusted sea bass was the best white fish I’ve ever tasted - and it was fun to watch them set it on fire at the table! The staff could not have been kinder or more welcoming. We were a bit intimidated by the prices at first but then realized it worked well to get the sea bass for the table. The house white wine was also delicious. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing experience at Restaurante Os Lusíadas in Matosinhos! Their arroz de marisco is absolutely fantastic – packed with a great variety of fresh fish and served in generous portions. The flavors were incredible and truly showcased the quality of the ingredients. The employees were super attentive and friendly, always making sure my glass was never empty and paying close attention to every detail. Their care and professionalism really stood out. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance – beautifully decorated with a modern yet cozy design. Plus, their extensive wine collection adds an extra touch of elegance to the dining experience. This is definitely a must-visit for seafood lovers in the Porto area. Highly recommend!

Casa Guedes Progresso is a Portuguese restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. It's known for its delicious food, great service, and age (dating from 1899!). The interior of the restaurant is interesting and it feels like stepping back in time.
I really enjoyed the food, and I have to highlight that the pork sandwich is a must-try at this place. As a starter, I ordered a codfish croquette with sheep cheese, which was also very good, but I have to say the sandwich was outstanding. It was absolutely delicious. I was served by a guy named Sydney, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was also great, and overall it’s a place where you can eat very well.

We visited this place yesterday and had an amazing experience! Our waitress, Marriana, gave us the best service we’ve had in all of Portugal. She was approachable, always smiling, kind, and gave us genuine recommendations. We tried the passion fruit sangria, octopus, and sandwich #14 (with Brie and caramelised onions). Everything was excellent! The sangria was rich in citrus and fresh fruit, the octopus was perfectly cooked and impressively served as a whole (not just a few tentacles like in most places), and the sandwich was absolutely delicious—even though we had initially hoped to try Bifanas, but Marriana’s recommendation did not disappoint. The prices are also on point. The only small suggestion would be to serve lemon wedges with the octopus. Highly recommended!

Words can’t properly describe how much I loved sandwich no.8 . It was absolutely amazing, the pork was so tender and all the ingredients of good quality. While in Portugal, trying a Bifana is a must. The Bifana here at Case Guesdes were good but not as good as the ones we had in Lisbon. This restaurant does have other Portuguese dishes on their menu besides Bifana so it is a great place to stop by and have dinner especially after a long day of walking.

Good place to try the Francesinha, ours came loaded with lots of meat, it was great value for the money, in addition to a $3 euro gigantic plate of fries. The gravy it came with was also delicious and made the dish so much better. I have to admit we were skeptical of the francesinha but glad we decided to try it here! We also ordered the octopus but could have given it a miss as it was a bit mushy and not very fresh, although it came with a large portion of spinach that was seasoned well.

Francesinha Café is a popular spot known for its delicious francesinha with a unique sauce that combines spiciness, sourness from tomato, and rich flavors possibly from red wine. The layers of bread, ham, and meat are perfectly executed. The cheese is melted to perfection and the beef is of high quality. The friendly staff provides efficient service in this cozy establishment. While the price may be slightly higher than average, the overall experience makes it worth it.
After many years and even more restaurants, I can confidently say that this is the best francesinha I ever tried. First place undisputed! The most tender beef, the sauce with the right level of spiciness (enough to be noticed but not too much that it overwhelms the remaining flavours), and crispy and homemade fries. What else can one ask? To top it off, the staff was super friendly with us.

I’ve been travelling through Spain and Portugal on my motorcycle for the past 5 weeks and this restaurant has served the best meal so far on my journey. Appetiser of garlic bread was delicious and then the main course of the most delicious Francesinha and golden fries (outstandingly good) and then finished off with a delicious salted caramel cheesecake and excellent coffee. The service was also excellent. Make sure to dine here if you’re in Porto - you won’t regret it👌🏽

One of the best francesinhas in town, if not the best. Only thing, a bit pricey. Top quality ingredients, fast service, and the lady out front is funny, if you go past that first impression!

I discovered Francesinha Café through some buzz on social media, intrigued by their unique spin on Porto’s iconic dish. The café offers its own distinct version of the Francesinha, yet stays remarkably faithful to the dish’s essence. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the quality of the meat selection stood out immediately. Not only did the food arrive quickly, but it was also surprisingly light compared to other francesinhas in town, leaving me comfortably satisfied rather than overly full or bloated. Francesinha Café is definitely worth the visit-an excellent choice for anyone looking to experience a fresh yet authentic take on this classic Porto staple.

Yes, when you visit Porto, you have to have some of the namesake fortified wine. But you'll really be missing out if you don't try a Francesinha. It's a local specialty sandwich, typically with ham, sausage, some kind of beef, melted cheese, and a fried egg, served in a bowl of spicy tomato sauce. If that sounds like a lot, it most certainly is. Of course, a bowl of fries to dip in the sauce is recommended as well. The neighborhood near the Marques metro station is a good one to stay in, with a pleasant downhill walk to the main sights, and a direct subway ride back. Francesinha Cafe cements this as a great place to visit. The physical space was a couple of notches nicer than I expected a sandwich joint to be - it turned out to be a very nice little restaurant with a limited menu. We weren't sure if we should split a sandwich and fries between two people - it turned out that a whole sandwich each, and splitting an order of fries worked out well for us. Porto is a terrific place to visit, and the Francesinha is the icing on the cake.

This is my new favorite food, this Francesinha is ridiculously good. The sausage steak and ham are perfectly done, the melted cheese is perfectly stretchy and flavorful, they were so kind and welcomed us for our anniversary day lunch with smiles and loving words. They are so fantastic here, it's with the wait, make a reservation, chat with them ahead of time. Get yourself here for their food, and leave smiling for their friendliness and generosity.

Blind Restaurante, located in the luxurious Torel Palace Hotel, offers a unique dining experience where diners entrust the chefs to surprise and delight their senses. The tasting menu, named Blind Emotion, features eight or ten courses paired with exquisite wines. Chef Vitor Matos transforms raw ingredients into culinary masterpieces that are served in a moodily lit venue adorned with black and white floors and elegant table settings.
What a fun, delicious, and unique experience! It was a degustation menu and every course/experience was exceptional. From a one bite explosion of flavors in your mouth, to brushing your teeth with a lemon flavor toothpaste to clean your palette before the next course. Everything was fantastic. At one point, a blindfold was placed in front of us and we were asked to tie it around our eyes for the next course. A bowel was placed in front of us and we all tried to guess the ingredients of the dish. It was a balsamic reduction with a quail egg, potato purée, and mushrooms. All the dishes, fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room we sat in, was filled with wine bottles behind glass cabinets, and there was a single long stem red rose hanging from the ceiling upside down. over the table.

My parents, my husband and I had 12-course meal with wine pairing on May 27th, 2025. The WORST Michelin-starred restaurant ever in my and my entire family's lives, in terms of both service and food. There are certain details or attentive services that any restaurants must meet to earn Michelin stars, and they did not do none of them. I’m very doubtful of how they achieved stars unless their services drastically dropped after their achievement. Just to add some credibility on my following feedback, my husband and I have been to quite a few Michelin-starred restaurants in different countries, including one other amazing one in Algarve, Portugal, and here are the reasons why Blind Restaurant does not even deserve any michelin star; 1) Right from the start, I found a big hole in my napkin. They changed it after I requested to replace it with a new one. 2) I found a bug in my wine. The manager, Pedro, did not even apologize, took it away, and replaced it with a new glass with pouring wine again without saying anything. Later on, he came to our table for check in and I mentioned that wine was amazing but I was quite surprised to find the bug in the wine glass for Michelin-starred restaurant and even more surprised to not have heard apology or anything. He said "Sorry that happened but since we normally leave our wine glasses outside, we have no control of having bugs coming in sometimes". I replied "If you're already aware of those possibilities that you might have bugs in wine glass and did not even check before you serve, then I think it's even more issue. Plus, I don't think you'd want to answer like that if Michelin Inspector visited and faced the same issue.". Then he said apologies real quick, and left the table. 3) They had ‘water pairing’ in their drink menu. We found it interesting but because we chose to have a wine pairing, we did not do water pairing but decided to try one of the “fancy” water on their list, which was Icelandic water. I asked a sommelier, Wagner, where this water is sourced from in Iceland, and his answer was “I don’t know. Maybe from all over the Iceland.” It’s okay not to know but usually from my experience in other Michelin-starred restaurants, they would try to find it out and provide the best answer that they could give instead of simply saying “I don’t know.” Also, for wine pairing, the sommelier, Wagner, sometimes skipped even describing the flavours of wines that I had to ask him to describe some notes or palettes for the wines that he was providing. 4) After I returned from washroom, I did not find my napkin organized or folded back again, which should’ve been done if Michelin-starred restaurant. It wasn’t just once throughout the dinner, but multiple times happened. 5) When customers are looking for washrooms in the middle of the dinner, normally they should either guide them to washroom or at least let customers know where they are. They did not do that. 6) For Michelin-starred restaurants, they scrape the dining table here and there to clean up. They do that but not thoroughly at all. Even after they scraped the table, all the dirts or crumbles still remained and they weren’t like micro-sizes or anything at all. 7) Usually for Michelin-starred restaurants, two servers are paired together to serve 4 people’s dishes so that they can place down the plates and take out the plates all at the same time. Here in Blind, I did not see that; on some courses they did, on some others, they did not. 8) My family’s table was the last and they already started cleaning before we finished. They even closed the main door and we had to exit through their elevator located behind. 9) Majority of the dishes were way too salty. 10) It took about 5 hour to finish the meal. It took way too long time that half way through, our dinner wasn’t even enjoyable anymore due to all the things that I mentioned above and taking too long time. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This was a total waste of money for this quality of service and food.

What a fun, whimsical experience. Everything was fantastic. The service from all angles was beyond reproach. We enjoyed every minute of the creative and interactive meal. We felt well tended to without feeling any overbearing presence. The food itself was delicious and while we had favorites, we enjoyed everything immensely. A job done perfectly.
Lauren A — Google review
Had the 10 courses this evening at 155€/pax. The intro given by the service personnel about sensations and textures to come for the meal, raised my expectations. Overselling. There were more misses than hits. The amuses bouches failed to titillate; too much carbs involved, flavours fell short. Next dish of foie gras, saved the night and I thought there’s still hope…2 other mets were of fine dining standard; the « couscous »of snapper and shrimps and the pigeon with beets & rhubarb, cuisson of the fish and pigeon 👍. The experience of being blind folded and blind tasting? Ok some may appreciate it for its novelty, the test wasn’t hard especially if one has an educated palate. The challenging part was actually feeding yourself without staining your outfit with the blindfold on. Fast forward to desserts, sigh. Pre-dessert was ok, Actual dessert? A let down. Presentation alright, yoghurt ice cream, raspberries, meringue, lychee slivers. Lychee used came from a can. For FINE DINING and I was presented with canned food? WHY? Chef Stephane Costa did come to our table at the end of the meal. I appreciated that. However, there’s work to be done and returning client I will not be.

We had the 10 moments tasting menu, the experience was amazing, you will try one dish blind and make your senses feel the flavors, very small dishes but definitely needed to try it, the pictures show the moments but I will not name them I will leave them to your imagination, service was Impecable, and atmosphere invites you to stay so long waiting for each dish, it took more than three hours.

The restaurant visit was a wonderful and unique experience that I can recommend to everyone. My special thanks go to Yuri, who accompanied us throughout the evening. She is an incredibly pleasant and friendly person who handles her work with professionalism. When she told us that she is only 21 years old, I was surprised! Not because she looks old – she very much looks like a beautiful young lady – but because her demeanor is so mature and confident. We had a wonderful meal at Blind! Great food and atmosphere, without feeling too stuffy. The food was delicious – lots of small bites but still very filling. We did our meal with the wine pairing and they matched the wine perfectly with the dishes. Worst dining experience I have ever had. Presentation is good but that's where it stops, the taste of the food is horrible. I've been to many Michelin star restaurants around the world. This is the most expensive dinner at over $800 for 2 people and the worst food sadly. We're so disappointed. I did the wine paring and even the wines were disappointing especially for the price, which it tough to accomplish because there are so many incredible wines in Portugal. The Cuddle fish was chewy and long, it got stuck in our throats, the lobster was under cooked, hard to cut and chewy and the veal was overcooked and tough to cut. I mentioned this to the waiter, he mentioned it to the chef, the chef even came out and I said the above and he said thank you and would talk to the team and nothing else happened. I also mentioned this to the front desk upon checkout as they asked and they said they would inform "someone" and again nothing happened. Not that I was expected anything. Just lack of caring to go with the poor quality food. Again if you want a 14 course of good looking plating, this is for you but if you want to enjoy the taste, don't go here! The service team was exceptional though, it's not their fault I didn't enjoy the food.

Enjoyed our tasting menu here at Le Monument during our visit in Porto. What standout for us was their super professional services and staff. Very accommodating and friendly. They took the time to explain the dishes and the attention to details. Tasty and delicious from the chefs including the desserts and pastry. We would have enjoyed more if the lighting was brighter so that we can see well of their wonderful dishes (just a personal preference) We chose the shorter menu around $200 per person and were really fulled at the end while we enjoyed the closing tea. Highly recommended!

I have been to many Michelin star restaurants, but this one rises above all others. My fiancé and I got the big journey with wine pairing, and it was worth every euro. I have not had a culinary journey like this before, but the food was impeccable. The staff were so kind, knowledgeable, and made us feel like home. Eduardo toured as through so many amazing flavors of Portugal and made it such a special experience. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a one of a kind dining experience.

Disappointing ending to an otherwise pleasant evening We had dinner at Le Monument tonight, and overall the experience started off well — the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, and the staff were polite. The food was decent, though not particularly memorable compared to other Michelin restaurants we recently tried in San Sebastián in last stop. Still, since it was our last night in Porto, we were happy and ready to enjoy a relaxed evening. However, the experience ended on a disappointing note when we received the bill. Here’s what happened: We had booked the Big Journey tasting menu (€180 per person). Shortly after being seated, a waitress came and asked whether we would like champagne or Porto wine — without showing us any wine list, or asking if we would like to see one. Naturally, we assumed this was a complimentary aperitif offered as part of the dining experience, as many fine-dining restaurants do. To our surprise, the final bill included two aperitif glasses for €50 in total(around maybe 150ml each). When I questioned this, explaining that we were never informed these drinks would be charged separately, the waiter Eduardo simply smiled and said “No”, offering no further explanation and let us pay the bill. Suddenly felt so uncomfortable. It’s not about the price, we understand this is an upscale restaurant, but about transparency and respect to customers. At a Michelin-starred establishment, guests should be clearly informed of any additional charges and always be given the choice to see a wine list before being served something that will appear on the bill. This small moment changed the tone of what could have been a wonderful last night in Porto. I truly hope the restaurant will take this feedback seriously and improve communication with guests in the future.

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. No spoilers, but loved the start. The staff became friends in an instant. Eduardo was *chefs kiss*. The food was a wonderful experience, so dynamic and well balanced. We did the 10-course paired with wine…and the wine I CANT! WOW, those pairings just rocketed the dishes into outer space. This place is such an excellent reflection of Portugal in 10+ bites. I’d love to come again in a different season after a menu change. Would highly recommend. XOXO

The Michelin guide rarely disappoints but unfortunately Le Monument was one of those times. The concept sounded promising but the execution was poor. The food was beautifully presented but it just didn’t taste very good—definitely did not compare with the other Michelin star (or Bib Gourmand) restaurants we ate at in Portugal. It’s confusing to me that it even has a star in the first place. The flavor combinations often didn’t work and seemed like the chef was trying too hard to be avant garde. We got the 14 course tasting menu and the pacing of the courses was weirdly slow. We were at the restaurant for over 4 hours, and after waiting over 30 minutes for the last course (an infusion prepared table side—not sure why it took 30 minutes for them to bring some boiling water and tea to our table) we were basically falling asleep in our chairs. There are so many better restaurants in Porto, save your money and time and skip Le Monument.

KOB by Olivier in Porto offers a sophisticated and cozy interior with modern decor and stylish accents. While renowned for its steaks sourced from around the world, the menu also features seafood options, as well as vegetarian and fish dishes. Guests praise the divine taste of the meat, particularly highlighting the K.O.B. Ribeye and Australian picanha Wagyu. The friendly staff provides attentive service, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
Stumbled upon this wonderful place in the middle of the city and immediately we were taken care of, considering everything was already booked. Loved everything about it from the very attentive hosts to the amazing food, service was outstanding, the KOB beef and the beef Olivier were super delicious, tender and tasty!! Portions are large and presentation is there for sure!! Lovely playlist, lighting was cozy and inviting ambiance… Congrats to the chef and the team. The Feijao rice was also yummy, our only suggestion would be to have more of a variety in the desert menu other than ice cream, but this wasn’t a complaint, just a suggestive comment to help them improve their already astonishing menu!! Really enjoyed it!!

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here. The place is cozy and elegant. The staff is welcoming and polite. The food is ok, but nothing amazing. The menu is dedicated to meat lovers, so there was not a single vegan option for me. I didn’t eat. On the other hand, my husband dish was tasty, he liked. Overall, the cost benefit is not worth. Way too expensive for what is served.

Great option if you fancy some nice meat in the city centre. Several options on the menu for both food and drinks. Everything we tried was well prepared, tasty and nicely presented. Slightly overpriced for what you get but overall nice option to enjoy meat. Nice atmosphere but all guests were seated in the same semi outdoor space and tables were quite close to each each other therefore not much privacy. Highly recommend any of the premium cuts for the steak, the truffle pasta as a side and the sangria.

Had a great meal at KOB. The service was excellent and the staff made the whole experience really welcoming. The menu has a solid variety of cuts, and the steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it, super tender and flavorful. The sides are well portioned for sharing and pair nicely with the mains. Portions on the steaks are generous. Definitely add to your list if you’re in Porto and looking for a great meal front to back.

Given how highly this place is rated, I expected much better. Save yourself the time and try somewhere else. The service was disappointing — I was dining alone in a mostly empty restaurant, yet no one checked in or explained the menu. I ordered the lunch special, which included dessert, but no one informed me — I would have ordered it if I had known. The food and drinks were just okay; there are definitely better options out there. If you're looking for quality steak, good drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, I’d recommend going somewhere else.
N S — Google review
The food was excellent. The scallop was a tiny succulent piece, and the tenderloin steak was delicious … However, I was surprised when the platter of bread, butter, and cheese were brought to the table, they felt complimentary, or at least that’s how it was presented. Only later did I realize these items were added to the bill. It came off more like a tourist trick than the transparent service you’d expect from a high-end restaurant. Regardless of my ability to pay, the principle matters. I refused to pay for those extras and didn’t leave a tip accordingly. It’s a shame when great quality is paired with such a questionable level of treatment. With food this good, the overall experience should feel just as genuine.

We had a delicious experience at KOB by Olivier! We made our reservation by phone (as it would be complicated to find an available table), and as soon as we arrived, we were well greeted by the manager who took us to our table. The service took longer than usual because the restaurant was full, but soon after, we were welcomed by two lovely ladies who took care of us until the end. We had a marvellous food experience from the starter until the dessert, and the wine (Papa Figos) was also delicious. I truly recommend this restaurant to those who love meat. They also had a DJ playing live, but the music wasn't too loud, which allowed us to talk and have a good experience.

Piccolo Camafeu, located in the heart of Porto, offers a unique and intimate dining experience perfect for a romantic evening. Tucked away from the street, the restaurant is accessed through a discreet door and unsuspecting stairs, leading to a charming room adorned with pastel and dry green tones, antique mirrors, and French windows overlooking Carlos Alberto Square. The ambiance feels like dining in someone's home with mismatched chairs and candlelight.
We liked the intimate atmosphere. We were welcomed by a glass of Lambrusco and olives, olive oil with balsamic vinegar and bread. Most of us ordered the mushroom pasta which was very delicious, I wished it was less salty. We also had the zucchini pasta and the pork cheeks and everyone in our party really enjoyed the dishes. The only dessert option was a very light and tasty lemon olive oil cake with raspberry sauce. We found the wine selection a bit underwhelming but it was not a deal breaker. The owner was very attentive and friendly.

We came to Porto on Friday and Piccolo Cameo was our first stop for the evening meal. It also turned out to be the last one as it is so delicious! We have been coming here since then! Every evening after a long day it offered us high quality food, incredible service and family like atmosphere! The owner and the cook in one is an excellent person ! If you are in Porto you should definitely step here ! Definitely a place worth recommending!!! The sight of the food makes your mouth water. Such a pleasure to be here and leave a positive feedback to everyone! Monika Sunflower

Our time here was a time that we will remember for the rest of our lives. The very humble owners of this beautiful place delivers an exceptional experience. There is nothing more to say about the service and food quality other than perfect. Never doubt about making a reservation and adding value to memory of your trip to Porto. This place will always be remembered by the 6 Turks.

If you're looking for a cozy spot for a quiet meal with your special someone this place would definitely fit the bill. Dark and quiet with only half a dozen tables you're not going to be fighting crowds to get a seat. Service was very friendly and attentive to our requests. The food was very tasty Italian style food. We enjoyed our visit.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant twice now and have been consistently impressed each time. On this most recent visit, we dined on chicken meatballs and two pastas: (1) mushroom and (2) zucchini with shallots and cream. Every bite from start to finish was a flavor explosion. We polished our meal off with the richest and most delicious slice of tiramisu cake. A simply outstanding experience (with excellent service) and we can’t wait to go back soon!

By far the best meal we had during our time in Porto. We both ordered the mushroom pasta, as we had read the reviews beforehand and we weren’t disappointed. The place is quite small and intimate making it an ideal place for a romantic date. Service was excellent and the owner is very friendly. We highly recommend this place.

I’ve been lucky enough to eat at a few Michelin starred restaurants but this was genuinely one of the best nights I’ve had in a restaurant. Food amazing. Service amazing. Ambience amazing. Seven complete strangers (it’s a small place) in there who all ended up sharing heart to heart stories and just enjoying each other’s company. And all facilitated by the awesome food and place we were in. Just a brilliant place you don’t want to miss out on.

What a special, intimate dining experience! The salmon was divine and my mother and niece LOVED their pasta dishes. With all of the dining options in Porto, this restaurant carves out its own niche of having a loving touch to every morsel of food and every gesture of service. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fresh, delicious food! We very barely understood each other and the one waiter who knew the most English did his best to help us pick the food. They were very caring

Very nice restaurant. Even the waiter didn’t speak much English, but he is so nice and happy to serve us. With his recommendation, we had our order placed as showed on photos. The fire fish is what we are coming for. Actually, other than that, a lot of things we have no idea what that is, but everything is so delicious and taste good and fresh. And, which is not expensive. You can go ahead to pick the fish you like and they weight it and get the price. We picked is a 1.25Kilo, cost about 50 Euro. We’re all like it.

I always come back to this place whenever I am around. Everything is freshly caught and delicious and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Went here on a normal Friday for lunch and was an amazing experience. Such an amazing food! We had pataniscas, alheira, little squids and little sardines. They were great! Than we had a beautiful grilled 2kg robalo that was simply divine! Was accompanied with a great vegetable rice and also açorda. We just went there to really please the stomach. For desert we had custard tart and amazing (homemade) jesuítas. Great great place. The staff was very friendly. Loved the place

Mito is a centrally located restaurant in Porto with a cozy atmosphere and a neighborhood vibe. It offers a fabulous lunch menu at an affordable price, featuring dishes like juicy burgers, fish tacos, and pork belly. The restaurant stands out for its sophisticated vegetarian dishes and modest approach. The menu includes options like beetroot, cured duck, beef fried balls, octopus with vegetable tempura, beef tartare with puff toastadas, and tender steak with amazing fries.
Dinner at Mito was an amazing experience. The staff was super welcoming, professional but friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and nice. The food was great, we shared three starters and one main dish. Special mention to the monkfish with rice and shrimps. Unfortunately there was no room left for desserts so we hope to come back and try them. Also, on top or the food being great, we can confirm cocktails are good too! we had a revisited Margarita and was great. Very much recommended!

Wow. Simply amazing. Each and every dish I tried here (including the dessert) was delicious. Most of the dishes were very light but packed with flavors. The tuna dish was very refreshing and sweet and salty. The bacon doughnut was also really good- so much so that I got 2 of these. Service was a bit slow once the restaurant got busy but still out was not a deal breaker. Very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Ayush K — Google review
The service was efficient and accommodating, and knowledgeable in the food they serve. Our server gave very good suggestions. The black pork steak was more than enough to share and the sidings were right size. The beef tartare was delicious, as well as the been croquettes. For dessert , the french toast was wonderful! Worth recommending to visitors of Porto.

An absolute must-visit! I had an incredible experience at Mito in Porto. The food was truly outstanding – every dish was even better than the last, full of flavor and beautifully prepared. One highlight was the carrot in misosuke, which was surprisingly delicious and absolutely worth trying. But what really made the evening special was the service. I’ve honestly never had such friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. Their recommendations for food and wine were spot on, and they even gave us amazing tips for cocktail bars in the city. A truly memorable dining experience – I’ll definitely be coming back!

We had a lovely meal here on our first night in Porto. Got a mix of starters and mains to share between 4. We also started with a cocktail and shared a bottle of wine. Overall food was very good. Beef croquettes were great. Side salad of tomatoes was excellent. Pork chop was pretty good but onion rings that came as a side were raw and doughy. Cauliflower tart was ice cold and didn’t really taste of cauliflower. It was a lovely meal but we all left questioning the value for money here.

The atmosphere is very nice. It is on the more casual side of fine dining which I found very welcoming. The food was tasty and well executed. The only gripes I would have are tiny nitpicks that I have to look for. Overall a very nice experience, definitely recommend for visitors and locals alike

Delicious! We will be back. They welcomed us with a drink because we were celebrating our anniversary- very thoughtful and nice touch. Impeccable service (polite, patient, attentive, great recommendations). We had the beef croquettes, the beignet, the tartare (!!!), the carrot (A MUSTTTT), the pork (so good!) with the tomato salad. We also had the gnocchi.

Head to Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos for an authentic and bustling market experience. Located near Leca River estuary and Portos seaport, this market remains untouched by tourism, offering a genuine glimpse into local culture. The bright, white building resembles an upturned cowrie shell and is flooded with natural light. Local women bring trays of fresh fish straight from the docks across the river, alongside livestock like rabbits, ducks, and chickens.
Excellent place to eat typical food. Also, great variety of fruit and veggies. For fish lovers, it’s the perfect place. Small, simple and culturally interesting to visit.

Nice place to be ! Eat where the inhabitants eat . Seafood at top quality . Unique value chain system: you choose a fish , they bring it to one of the restaurants, where it will be prepared , cooked and served to you . PQR absolutely fair . The menu features exquisite seafood dishes such as Grilled Octopus and Tuna Tartare, both praised for their perfect seasoning and refreshing flavors.
We chose this restaurant for a dinner with friends and were very satisfied with our choice. We were attended by Luís, who was very professional and friendly and recommended the best dishes for us to share. He also helped with choosing our wine, which made the dining experience even better. All the dishes are very well prepared and have unique flavors. This is definitely a place worth returning to 😁

We came across this place when we all in 4 were looking for something to eat. That was our first restaurant experience in Porto. A manager found a place for us, which was great. The staff were taking care of is, but only till mid of our consumption. Food was great, and we were very happy about its freshness, quality. You can check that on photos. We were however unsatisfied about those things: 1. Prices were high, we saw that in menu, but wanted to try. However we were not informed those prices were net, not gross (with tax). Therefore at the end prices were to high. 2. We were being cares until mid of the middle of the meal. Then no. 3. The extra service charge was added to the final bill what is funny, on the receipt was “suggested”, but we felt there was no decision on us, it was just added. Nice place, good kitchen, but overpriced.

I got the oysters with kimchi and scallions and the sea bass fish. Oysters were great but can be considered pricey since there was only 2. In absolutely loved the fish with the potatoes. The potatoes were well baked- nice and crispy and the fish was also nice and crispy. And people around me thought so. One couple sat down after seeing the fish!
Kourtney B — Google review
Food was absolutely excellent. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was helpful, but a little difficult at times to get their attention. Restaurant is located on the upper level of the Mercado do Bolhão.
Sam S — Google review
Food is average. The french toast was very nice, but the brown crab, being the most pricy dish, was disappointing. The 2 main dishes are also ok. Other charges are adnormally high including the tap water, the bread, etc. looks like they target on tourist only and won't expect any returned customers. Regarding the service, the male staff who served us was nice. But another lady staff was not friendly at all. We arrived 5 mins earlier and waited outside in front of the door. The lady has spotted us the whole time and sharp at 1300, she turned the signature from 'close' to 'open' and then walked away. We then opened the door and her face was not unhappy at all, like doesn't welcome us at all.
KEN Y — Google review
A rather disappointing experience, especially considering the price point. I visited here for my last lunch in Porto, expecting a special and memorable meal — but unfortunately, it fell short in many ways. Firstly, the service was noticeably lacking. While other tables received regular attention from the staff, my table was left completely unattended throughout the meal. No one came to ask if everything was fine or if I needed anything, which felt careless for a place charging this level of pricing. Secondly, although I had high hopes for the food given the modern presentation and pricing (with starters over 13 euros), the dishes were overwhelming in flavor — overly salty, heavily seasoned, and covered in strong sauces like sriracha mayo that masked the quality of the ingredients. In a country like Portugal, where beautiful and fresh ingredients are so abundant, this approach felt like a missed opportunity. I ended up spending nearly 60 euros for a solo lunch, but neither the food nor the service felt worth that price. Finally, if you are someone who has experienced fine dining in culinary capitals like London, New York, or Melbourne, you may find this place — and perhaps much of Porto’s fine dining scene — a bit underwhelming. Rather than seeking fine dining here, I would recommend focusing on simple, rustic local dishes that showcase Portugal’s amazing ingredients in a more honest and authentic way. In short, for the price, the experience and food did not meet expectations.

Excellent quality and technique. Everything was delicious - fresh, clean and honest. The clams, simple grilled fish and the pasta with raw baby shrimp and mussels in a sea urchin sauce; amazing. One of my best meals in Portugal.
Sean O — Google review
Overall: Great food but pricey with sketchy service. Cheeseboard is amazing. To start, we had the cod cakes (Portuguese speciality), which were great and the potato millefeuille with tuna. This was one of the tastiest potato dishes I've ever eaten! Mains, the tiger prawn and squid skewer, which comes with some beautiful herby, buttery potatoes. Also the hake tempura with razor clam rice. Really good...the rice is beautifully zesty and the fish perfectly cooked. To finish, a cheeseboard to beat all others...3 cheeses in perfect quantities to share between 2. One of them was so ripe it was trying to escape the plate. To drink, a beer to kick off, then 2 glasses of wine each and a port with the cheese, all great. Sadly, a bit let down by the service. Whilst everyone was very friendly, no-one seemed to be in charge - there was a bit of a chaotic vibe and this meant we were left waiting for up to ten minutes at points and had to get up and ask to order some more drinks. It put a bit of a downer on the experience, which is a shame because the food was so good. Hopefully, they were just having an off night! Also, a touch on the pricey side for Portugal. Bill was €140, which is easily the most expensive meal we've had in Portugal. The food was a cut above, but expect a 5 star experience for the price.

The staff is accommodating, even if you don't speak Portuguese. The food is described as generous, home-cooked, and of high quality without any frills. It's popular among locals for its authentic Portuguese dishes at affordable prices.
Very fun vibe and ultra busy, you can try really authentic Portuguese food for a great price. The service was great and the beers were tasty. I loved my vegetable soup, it had nice chunks of cabbage and geeens swimming around. The French fries tasted really amazing! The best meal we had in Portugal. If you know you know good food, this restaurant is not to be missed. The environment is rustic and lively and the service is prompt with great recommendations from the staff. We had the pork roll, soup with meat and blood (surprisingly amazing) and the homemade wafer cake for desert (which I wouldn’t normally go for but was recommended and incredible). We’ll be coming back again tomorrow.

This! Still my favourite eat in all of Portugal. This humble tavern serves a range of traditional Portuguese fare but the true star of the show is the slow cooked Rojoes. I've been here multiple times now and it's the place I look forward to visiting most when I'm in Porto. Expect a long wait for a table if you're coming for dinner especially if you're in a big group. The best time to come is at the end of lunch service. If I'm not just grabbing one of the face-melting Sandos I'm ordering a full portion of the stewed pork, a side of patas fritas and a couple of beautiful fried eggs. All is accompanied by fresh crusty bread and a banging home made hot sauce. There are multiple dining areas, one at the bar, one in front of the kitchen and main room. The atmosphere is as local as it gets so expect to wait your turn. Hopefully they don't stay closed for long!

Lessa is a newly discovered favorite spot in the wider Porto area, offering a delightful Saturday lunch at the bar. The welcoming staff suggests allowing them to choose from their small but high-quality menu, providing a delectable blend of both traditional and innovative Portuguese dishes. It's an exciting and enjoyable experience, with a team that showcases their culinary skills in the small kitchen area. The Pisco Sour and Ceviche are said to rival those found in Lima, making it a must-visit destination.
Lessa was at the top of my restaurants-to-go list for a while and I regret not getting there sooner. It is a really small, intimate space. We sat down at the counter facing the kitchen which gave us an opportunity to chat with Chef André. Everything we ordered (tuna ceviche, croquettes, seafood rice and the ovos rotos) was very tasty, my favourite being the ovos rotos. The restaurant was full when we were there and I'd expect it to be always the case given the quality of the food and the limited seating. I was so full that I could not order the dessert this time. I'll make sure to leave room for it the next time, which will be in the near future.

I had the chef's tartar and the Streak Fish Rice. I have to start by saying that the Rice is just absolutely incredible! I can guarantee you won't find anything like it anywhere. There are so many interesting and complex flavours that it guest hard to describe! The menu changes every 4 months but the focus will still be the rices, so It is 100% worth giving it a try. The mackerel tatar was also very good! The staff is great and I got to have a nice conversation with them while sitting at the counter. You also get to see them make everything. Restaurante Cantina 32 is a laid-back and popular spot among the trendy locals, offering two sittings to reflect the Mediterranean way of life. The restaurant features large communal tables as well as smaller spots for more intimate dining. The menu includes large terracotta sharing dishes such as roast octopus with sweet potatoes and modern twists on classic Portuguese plates like fresh pink tuna with pineapple and seafood and chorizo stew.
Excellent. Squid and portobello appetizer is excellent. The bread with banana butter is very good. Octopus is a must. We ate here 3 times. Everything we tried was great. Reasonable prices. Make a reservation as they fill up fast. They open at 6:30 and the line starts at 6:15. Reservations are at 7. The sangria is great and a lot of wine choices. Felix and John were very helpful. Make sure to save room for wonderful desserts. We liked the chocolate cake, cheesecake, and carrot cake. Cappuccino was very good. Bathrooms were very clean.

Dropped by for lunch. We were just walking around Porto soaking in the atmosphere and saw that this restaurant had a decent rating. There was a line to get in , but that was because they were just opening. We were not so hungry so ordered the Portugese stew of Squid and Shrimp. The quailty of the ingredients was fine. But the sauce was brought in a separate jug and poured over. This left the squid and shrimp tasting very bland .The menu said the dish was for two persons but we were still hungry. A little pricey for what we were served. We went down to the Mercado and had something to eat and drink there! We wanted to order dessert but decided to go somewhere else.

Excellent octopus! Very tasty. Nice presentation. Price quality for octopus also good. The othet things were a bit on the expensive side. Especially the tuna appetizer. And the salad (lettuce) which was literally a quarter lettuce with dome cheese but almost 4€. The alheir crockets on the other hand were very nice and tasty really like alhier sausage. The banana butter, olives and bread were part of the curvert (2.50 pp). They were of good quality but we were a bit dissapointed that we got the same amount of bread butter and olices with the 5 of us as other people that were with a party of 2. (The banana butter tasted really like banana and was tasty as well.) We couldnt order a big bottle of water to share (nor still nor sparkling) only small bottles. The ambience was very nice. All in all. Nice restaurant for octopus. A bit on the expensive side. Service could be a bit more generouz looking at the water and the curvert.

Every visit to Cantina 32 was an absolute delight. The food is delicious and carefully prepared, and the service is truly exceptional – attentive, kind, and professional. We returned three nights in a row because we felt so welcome, and by the second evening, the staff even greeted us by name, which was a wonderfully personal touch. A special mention goes to John, our waiter, who was always polite, attentive, and truly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined and welcoming dining experience in Porto.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Cantina 32, thanks in large part to the incredibly kind and helpful manager, Felix, who went out of his way to find us a table when my father expressed how much he wanted to dine there. The food exceeded all expectations—the iceberg lettuce salad with salmon was easily one of the most delicious salads we’ve ever had, with perfectly balanced flavors and generous portions. The squid stew was equally outstanding—fresh, rich, and full of depth. We finished with their signature cheesecake, which is an absolute must. The ambiance is second to none—an industrial chic setting that still manages to feel warm and calming. It was our best night in Porto, and we’ll definitely return on our next visit. Thank you, Felix and the entire Cantina 32 team!

The prawn dish was absolutely delicious, and the polpo comes as a whole octopus. The banana butter served with the bread was really amazing.

Nestled within the bustling marketplace of Matosinhos, Mafalda's is a charming café and restaurant that promises to elevate your Saturday brunch experience. This cozy spot offers an enticing a la carte menu alongside a set menu featuring delightful dishes like shakshuka, roasted pepper hummus on toast, and scrumptious scones with homemade jam. Each week brings a fresh brunch selection inspired by the vibrant produce available in the market.
Wow! The food was amazing and the quality of the fish added extra flavour, I really appreciated the explanation behind the weekly menu and the staff was overall great. Highly recommended

Incredible fusion and balance of flavors. You can have a “menu of the day” for ~13 euros which changes daily. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. I had a salad with tomato and watermelon that was one of the best bites I’ve had all summer. It seems a little bit off the path if you’re visiting Porto, but definitely worth the visit. Thanks for such an amazing experience!

Amazing place for weekday lunch and Saturday brunch. To me, this is a pretty unique place. Changing the menu every day is a lot of work. I had a wine bar, and the charging menu even seasonally was a really headache. I would say most of the times combinations work. The only recommendation would be to dare more with seasoning and spices.

A different lunch menu with very tasty food and amazing dessert every day, and very nice people. The moqueca was great and the chocolate lava cake to die for. Highly recommended for a simple but filling and delicious lunch.

Mafalda’s, tucked away inside Mercado de Matosinhos, is a charming spot with a welcoming vibe. Remember to place your order beforehand, as it’s a popular local favorite. The dishes are outstanding, featuring generous portions and thoughtfully selected ingredients that deliver authentic, delightful flavors. Though it might not be an absolute must-visit destination, if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop - you won’t regret it. I tried their veggie lasagna and instantly fell in love with it; the taste was simply exceptional. Mafalda’s offers a genuinely enjoyable dining experience that leaves you satisfied and eager to return.

Mafalda’s is such a special place. The menu changes daily and every dish feels thoughtful and different. Great brunches, lovely desserts, and the best staff you could ask for. It’s a place with real soul and personality

My wife and I have traveled a lot together in Portugal, so when we say that this is probably our favorite place for lunch here in this beautiful country, that might be saying something. Definitely stop by Mafalda's when you are in Porto - and more specifically in the characteristic harbor district of Matosinhos - you will really not regret it. Original recipes, not expensive at all, super healthy and very friendly: everything a person could want.
