Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Ribeira neighborhood, Taberna dos Mercadores is a cozy and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its small size, the place is always bustling, so it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. The attentive staff adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features delectable dishes such as octopus specialties and grilled sea bass, complemented by an extensive selection of high-quality wines.
We had to wait for about 30-40 minutes before we got a table. The staff came out during this time and told us they can’t guarantee a place for us and that larger groups might have to sit separately. If you can reserve a table as otherwise you might not be able to taste their delicious food. We had the octopus with its rice as well as the steak with the sausage rice. We shared a mixed salad for a starter. The food arrived in time and was delicious. It was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and polite. It’s worth a visit and with just 16 seats one of the smaller restaurants we have been. Highly recommend but be prepared either to wait or reserve a spot.
Marc S — Google review
This is a very touristy place. The space is very small and at a time only 16 people can be seated. We arrived 45 minutes before opening and were 6th in line. We tried the oven-baked octopus rice and the salt-crusted seabass. The seabass was excellent, 10/10. The oven-baked octopus rice was 7/10. The people working there are very nice. The lady who took our order told us our initial order would be too much food, which was such a kind gesture. Overall, if you have an hour to spare, I would say try this restaurant.
Samiul A — Google review
By far the best restaurant in Porto. There will be a wait so be prepared but it’s well worth it. My tip is be there early. Restaurant seats 14 people. Reminds me of the quaint restaurants in the Boston North End. The food was stunningly and delicious. I ordered the garlic shrimp, Seafood Açorda and Apple Meringue pie. All amazing and all suggested by the owner who is amazingly kind and attentive. I was a single traveler and made to feel right at home and welcomed.
Donald N — Google review
This was my favourite meal in Portugal, the food was so good! I liked the octopus rice and sea bream best, followed by the seafood rice. They have very limited seating inside (~16 seats) so there was a long wait. They opened at 12:30 and our group arrived at 12:05, and we barely missed entering in the first wave. We ended up waiting over 1.5 hours. They don’t guarantee group seating for groups larger than 2 so our group of 4 ended up getting split into 2 groups. They accept credit card.
Ellen H — Google review
We came for the second time and the most impressive dishes is the beef steak with rice! Of course, other must order dishes sea bass (with fire), clams, octopus and the potato soup. An average of 1-1.5 hours waiting time, and worth for the queue if you look for authentic and high quality of food.
V C — Google review
I arrived around 1:30pm ish and I waited about 30 mins to be seated. I was by myself and the staff/owner was so accommodating and friendly. I got the octopus dish with rice and the portion was way too generous. Apple pie was really good, nostalgic and had the right balance! Worth the wait 😊
Jisu K — Google review
The signature salt-grilled fish was really fresh, and the flame grilling was quite a show. The garlic clams were just average. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table—there are only eight tables with sixteen seats. The place doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere, but the food came out pretty quickly.
Patricia T — Google review
I would say it's a must-try if you come to Porto. The taste of octopus rice is unforgettable. The crunchy flavored rice is lovely and the octopus is soft and slightly firm with a pleasant chewiness. The size is suitable for 2 people. My friend and I had waited for an hour, and it's

Portuguese restaurant
O Buraco is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Porto, near the famous Bolhao market. With over 50 years of history, this establishment offers authentic Portuguese cuisine at reasonable prices. The menu features classic dishes such as boiled cabeca de pescada, carapaus de escabeche, and figado de cebolada. Additionally, daily specials like feijoada a Buraco and tripas a Buraco showcase regional flavors.
probably one of the best restaurants in Porto. If looking for genuine Portuguese cuiscine, this is the absolutely place. serving hours are 1200-1500, 1900 -2300, it is always fully packed, need to queue up for tables. It can seat about 70 guests, but got very few waiters so they are really busy and rushing all the time. But the kitchen is very quick. First time I went, not knowing they only serve tripa fridays and saturdays. So ending up I had the famous Portuguese sausage Alheira, which is not my cup of tea. Went again and finally had the awesome Tripas a Moda do Porto. Incredibly tasty and tender, even the rice is flavorful and well cooked. I will return again. On the 3rd visit, I had duck rice. O Buraco is definitely the best..

Incredible food. Literally the tastiest most filling chicken and salad I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and so was the food/drinks. The highlight was the cheesecake recommended by our server, which I have thought about loads since eating. This was definitely worth the queue (only a short one).
Izi T — Google review
Got this recommendation after putting into Gemini: authentic, value for money, Portuguese traditional restaurant. This restaurant came up on top. So popular we had to wait outside to get a table. Service is better than it seems. It was full so we got a corridor table which was fine. There were more tables in the basement. Food was great. Tasty and efficient. Waiter recommended that we didn't over order as portions were generous. Ordered soups. Had the biftek and the cod buraco. Both lovely. Topped up the vinho verde with some tawny port after dessert. Came to be €65 for 2
Steven H — Google review
Great food, good price and good portion size. The menu is not big but everything we had was very good. They serve mostly fish and some meat dishes. I did not notice anything with crab, shrimp, clam or mussels. Come before 7:30 if you can or you might have to wait outside.
Bill C — Google review
Came here 3 times because I can’t find another place with better price/quality. Duck rice, fried sardines were great. Wish they can make the Wednesday special (meat and bean stew) available everyday. Service is average not that welcoming, but at least efficient.
Jem C — Google review
O Buraco offers authentic, local Portuguese cuisine that truly delights. Their bean rice and sardines are standout dishes we absolutely love. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy genuine flavors while avoiding typical tourist traps. Don’t miss their special sangrias, available in sparkling and berry varieties, which set them apart from other places.
V C — Google review
Excellent food, big portions and fast service. The prices are very cheap and I think everything is homemade. The rice was a side dish included in the price of the fish.
Lorenzo B — Google review
We didn't have time to taste it for a longer time, but the salmon was very good, the restaurant was packed just moments after opening, which is a good sign

Conga is a down-to-earth restaurant in Porto, known for its pork sandwiches, draft beers, and wine. The eatery offers a variety of gastronomic treasures, with specialties like tender pulled pork marinated in garlic and spice served in bifanas buns. The menu also features steaks accompanied by potatoes and thin dishes that leave patrons more than satisfied without emptying their wallets.
The food was fantastic!!!!! Bifana (pork burger) costs only €3.5 and they are so tasty, so yummy!!!! Steak was only €14 and very good! FRANCESINHA COM BIFE DO VAZIO was so yummy. It's a local food and cheap, voluminous, and meaty!!! Highly recommended! The service was good. Fast, hospitable, nice, and efficient. Very good locally based, cheap place but great food place!
Momo W — Google review
If you can look past the loud tourists, the bifanas are truly yummy. I love the spice and how fresh they were. The vegetable soup was very good too. Nice job!
Marilynn — Google review
The restaurant had a simple but pleasant atmosphere. Servers were pleasant and friendly. The sandwich was tasty and very well priced, the only thing I didn’t like was that the sauce made the roll soggy on some parts. I do not like soggy bread but great concept and worth trying out!
Mary G — Google review
Update: I ended up coming here 4x during my 3-day trip to Porto. It was really addictive. Lovely bifanas! This was a great accidental find. We came here after having a racist experience at the Piri Piri chicken store opposite and were very heartened by the impartial service here. It turned out that Conga is actually very famous. Bifanas were absolutely delicious - salty, soft meat with a slight tinge of spice, I could have eaten two in a go. We tried different combinations - with rice and fries, but decided that the original style of having the meat with bread was the best as it soaks up the meaty greasy spicy goodness. Sangria is also fizzy and great in the heat, but slightly sweet. So good we came back twice in a day!
M L — Google review
Authentic Portuguese food and experience. Came recommended from host and was worth the visit. Had Bacalhau and Steak as options on day I went. The Cod, rice and bean/greens dish were excellent! Quick for food and service was great, and best yet not a tourist trap with all locals. Will visit again.
Mark B — Google review
We went here for a traditional bifana and we got it! The broth was so flavorful and a little spicy. Seriously delicious. We also got the veggie soup and the caldo verde - both were very bland, but hot and fresh. The atmosphere was a standard, sports place, nothing special. The water closet was a bit messy and smelled strongly of urine. Really great value, it was the most affordable meal we had while in Porto.
Justine H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Iconic Porto Flavors at Their Best! Conga is a true Porto institution — the kind of place every local knows and every visitor should experience. Famous for its bifanas, this spot serves up sandwiches that are simply out of this world — tender pork simmered in a spicy, flavorful sauce that’s both addictive and unforgettable. The atmosphere is lively and full of character, with that perfect mix of tradition and energy that makes Porto so special. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient — even when it’s busy (which it often is!). Pair your bifana with an ice-cold beer or a glass of vinho verde, and you’ve got one of the best meals in the city for an unbeatable price. Conga isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a Porto experience. Simple, delicious, and absolutely essential for anyone who loves authentic Portuguese food. 🇵🇹🔥

Delicious bifana. Lucas and colleagues were welcoming, helpful, friendly. Authentic local taste and atmosphere, fast food. Shared counter top with other locals. Thank you, Lucas for preparing my bifana

Casa Guedes Tradicional is a beloved spot in Porto run by two sets of siblings who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight here is the famous smoked pork loin sandwich, best enjoyed with a glass of the local green wine called espadal. Additionally, homemade french fries are also recommended. Recently, Casa Guedes expanded with a new location that offers traditional Portuguese dishes and signature cocktails alongside the iconic sandwiches.
I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The roasted pork sandwiches, cod cakes, and croquettes are always tasty—especially when washed down with a cold Super Bock. Sitting outside is perfect for people watching. Life is good!
Jim B — Google review
We are not experts on bifanas, but definitely their bifana sandwiches here are great! Great quality, combinations and taste! The menu is exactly what should be. Overall excellent experience. This restaurant is a "must" for anyone visiting Porto!
Panos A — Google review
We serendipitously had lunch here. This is one of the finest restaurants in Porto. The personnel were amicable and well-informed. They patiently elucidated the diverse dishes. The cuisine was undoubtedly superb and delectable. You should sample the abade prisco at least once to explore the flavors of Portugal.
Jack C — Google review
This was the first time we ordered patatas bravas on this trip and they were delicious. We ended up getting them every place we went and by the end of the trip the ones here were still my favorite. My friend loved the pork croquettes and actually asked for me after our meal because she loved them so much. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu has a lot of options!
Kara S — Google review
Sofia recommended me local tastes.I had traditional soup, codfish cake, octopus with potato and espresso and desert. Terrace is a chill place with music. I really enjoyed my visit.
Atahan C — Google review
Food was okay, Pork knuckle was really tasty, falling out of bone, do delicious, however side dish that you get with it was also good but portion is very small and not in proportion with the meat where you get really good amount of it. Other dish however, was nothing special, bacalar with egg and vegetables. It had some tomato taste which is fine but overall lacking some spices or something. Position of restaurant is nice, on the street.
Katarina M — Google review
Since I moved to Portugal, it has been my dream to try chorizo cooked over fire. And it just so happened that during this trip to Porto, when I remembered about it, we were right next to a place with a good rating and lots of reviews. The chorizo turned out just as I imagined — first a little fire show, and then juicy chorizo with cold beer — everything you need to enjoy the last sunny days. But be careful: if it’s windy outside, you’ll get a dose of fear along with your dish when the flames start blowing in your direction.
Polina M — Google review
I genuinely don’t get the hype of this place — the food was super cold, flavourless and the price per quality is off (9,90€ for a prego with Brie and 5,90€ for a small glass of wine is exorbitant). They get an extra star for the super nice staff and incredible roof top terrace, but overall not worth it!

Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!
Duncan A — Google review
It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto
Scott L — Google review
Mercado do Bolhão is one of the highlights of Porto and a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s flavours in one place. The market is spotless, beautifully restored, and full of life. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.
Ali M — Google review
Lovely indoor market with a wide range of produce aimed mainly at tourists. Fabulous to be able to buy a glass of wine etc in a real glass and wander around the stalls. Places to sit and eat the wide range of foods available. Stall holders were very pleasant and helpful. Good range of products that are hard to source at home and generally good vfm. What was disappointing was that none of the foods on sale were out for you to sample. It’s the first market I have visited where this was the case. Usually there are plates with little samples on so you can taste before you buy. Very clean and everything very well presented.
Elviera L — Google review
This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.
G M — Google review
Sa e some time for a visit to this market. Stunning array of cured meets and seafood ready for tasting. Wine of course too. I had some of the largest oysters to eat. Easy to find and right off from the metro.
Jan B — Google review
This is a must visit place in Porto. A large indoor marketplace with restaurants housed in a renovated old building. There is a lot to see and to taste. Vegetables, fruit and fresh juice, fresh fish, famous canned sardines, special coffee, olive oil and olives, flowers, wines including port of course, perfumes and hand-made souvenirs to buy. Often, you can meet a performing artist (or a group).

Restaurant
Taberna Santo António is a charming, rustic restaurant located in Porto, specifically at Passeio das Virtudes. Run by the welcoming couple Mr. Vitor and Mrs. Herminia, this family-owned eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. The menu features mouth-watering Portuguese comfort food such as bifana, a delightful combination of tender pork meat and flavorful beer-based sauce in a soft traditional bun.
Decided on this booking through trip advisor Definitely book in advance as it fills very quickly. Small quirky Portuguese bistro with authentic Portuguese cuisine We went for the pork belly and pork cheek with rice and potato’s that was divine and so tender to cut Desert was the chocolate mousse that definitely didn’t disappoint This paired with a few cold superbocks marked the perfect start to a Saturday evening. Will definitely recommend to anyone who decides to holiday in Porto
Joel S — Google review
After reading all the positive reviews and judging by the queue to get in, I had quite high expectations. It turned out to be ‘ok’ but I wouldn’t rave about it. We visited for lunch and at a busy time which probably had an effect as service was pretty slow and I didn’t think the food was anything special. Reasonably priced to be fair. My daughter had the sardines and rice in tomato sauce, I had the pork in breadcrumbs layered with cheese, fried egg and curry sauce. Best part was the crème brûlée. Fries were quite greasy…nice atmosphere and friendly staff but probably not one I’d queue and wait for again.
Lisa M — Google review
A cozy tavern with a real homey atmosphere. If you come with a group, it’s best to book a table in advance, but if you’re alone, there’s always a spot at the lively bar. The food is amazing – the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Desserts were also excellent, especially the chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The staff work very quickly, and the manager, who speaks five languages, makes the atmosphere even more welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

absolutely great experience. The atmosphere, the place and the most important - the food were fantastic! we ordered 3 dishes and we didn't expect that they will be so big! Real Portuguese food, fresh ingredients and very good prices! I recommend for 100 %, especially the meat stew with beans. This lunch made our day and the full impression of local food. Thanks for your work guys!
Olga S — Google review
We had heard great things about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try! The food was good, though quite heavy with very large portions. It might just be that we didn’t choose the best dishes for the season—on a very hot summer day, the stew-based menu felt a bit too rich, and we couldn’t finish our plates. Service was friendly and efficient, and we definitely recommend booking a table in advance.
Shabrina H — Google review
The roasted ham shank was good, so is the pig cheek in red wine. A cozy little restaurant with good food and atmosphere. I however didn't like the creme brulee, it could be better, but just my opinion.

The foods are worth recommending. But!!, be careful of the 6 shady bacalhau croquettes at the beginning, they are not free. We said we don’t eat them and please take them away, but in the end they are still in the receipt. After complaining, they are gone, but the behavior remains very shady.

Casa Guedes Progresso is a Portuguese restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. It's known for its delicious food, great service, and age (dating from 1899!). The interior of the restaurant is interesting and it feels like stepping back in time.
I really enjoyed the food, and I have to highlight that the pork sandwich is a must-try at this place. As a starter, I ordered a codfish croquette with sheep cheese, which was also very good, but I have to say the sandwich was outstanding. It was absolutely delicious. I was served by a guy named Sydney, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was also great, and overall it’s a place where you can eat very well.

We visited this place yesterday and had an amazing experience! Our waitress, Marriana, gave us the best service we’ve had in all of Portugal. She was approachable, always smiling, kind, and gave us genuine recommendations. We tried the passion fruit sangria, octopus, and sandwich #14 (with Brie and caramelised onions). Everything was excellent! The sangria was rich in citrus and fresh fruit, the octopus was perfectly cooked and impressively served as a whole (not just a few tentacles like in most places), and the sandwich was absolutely delicious—even though we had initially hoped to try Bifanas, but Marriana’s recommendation did not disappoint. The prices are also on point. The only small suggestion would be to serve lemon wedges with the octopus. Highly recommended!

Words can’t properly describe how much I loved sandwich no.8 . It was absolutely amazing, the pork was so tender and all the ingredients of good quality. Service was always fast and nice at the 2 locations I’ve been to ( Progresso& Tradicional). I will be coming back for sure each time I will visit Porto.

Honorable mention to the staff, they were all amazing and made us feel really welcomed. The food was amazing too. They have lots of different options so it was amazing. Every dish was spectacular. Would definitely recommend and give the carrot cake and chocolate mousse cake a try.

The perfect 5 star restaurant with great service, super food and grand ambiance. The authentic dishes are served alongside the contemporary food menu that has a vast choice. The drinks are served from a large selection available.

While in Portugal, trying a Bifana is a must. The Bifana here at Case Guesdes were good but not as good as the ones we had in Lisbon. This restaurant does have other Portuguese dishes on their menu besides Bifana so it is a great place to stop by and have dinner especially after a long day of walking.

Good place to try the Francesinha, ours came loaded with lots of meat, it was great value for the money, in addition to a $3 euro gigantic plate of fries. The gravy it came with was also delicious and made the dish so much better. I have to admit we were skeptical of the francesinha but glad we decided to try it here! We also ordered the octopus but could have given it a miss as it was a bit mushy and not very fresh, although it came with a large portion of spinach that was seasoned well.

The best francesinha I have ever had in my trip around Portugal. The sauce tasted handmade, the meats were so tender and juicy, everything was full of flavor. O asked for oranges juice and the oranges were freshly squeezed.

The Santos family's Adega Vila Mea is a century-old eatery with loyal customers and renowned home-cooked dishes. The restaurant is known for its bold flavors, including codfish, roast veal and grilled pork. Visitors can also enjoy the Cozido a Portuguesa, a Portuguese food culture hallmark.
Let me start off with the point of this review. I will come back to Porto just for this restaurant. It's definitely not the normal tourist heavy restaurant. Situated in a quite road off the main Street you will easily miss it if you didn't know about it. When you walk in you know that you are in for a unique experience. From the Decor, to the family that runs it, it makes you feel at home. The gentleman and his wife are the kind of people you want to be your parents. For starters we shared some cured meats which were delicious. For mains we shared pork cheeks with pickled veg, steak egg and chips, bachalau, rice, salad, squid. It all was sensational! The pork cheeks were my favourite, as the combination of the pickled veg with tender pork was perfect. Cooked to perfection. The old school potato chips were crispy and soft. The owner served us the whole night, made sure our glasses were full, always smiling. It was a great night and a humbling experience watching a family full of passion prepare, cook , serve and entertain us for the night. If you enjoy small family run restaurants then you can't not go here.

This is a charming, hidden gem in the heart of Porto. The staff was amazing and the food was excellent. We started off with their signature cocktail, Pink Port Tonic, and an appetizer of local meat and cheese, and shared the octopus salad which was soooo tender. The fish of the day was so fresh and the Veal Forca Drago was to die for. The place was buzzing with quiet conversations and the staff was amazing. We cannot wait to go back, again...

The owners of this family owned restaurant have been managing it for 46 years, and they provided the most delicious meal we had in all of Portugal. Go there if you want traditional home cooked Portuguese food that is unassuming, yet finger licking good.

Even though it’s one of the oldest restaurants in Porto this was my first time at Adega Vila Mea. We were taking some friends from out of town and they wanted to eat traditional Portuguese food in the historic district. So we walked around and it is right off of Rua das Flores, so we decided to go there. Everything was great and friends super happy. The Matosinhos Balcalhau was northern style, crispy cod fish with onions and peppers and I think paprika. It was delicious super authentic taste. The octopus was perfection. We all loved it. Totally recommend going here when you are in historic area of porto.

The menu features starters like petinga ribs and octopus salad, while main courses include fried dory with roe acorda, lobster mayonnaise, and sea bass. The elegant setting with stone walls and wooden accents adds to the warm atmosphere of Terreiro.
Get there early! Went there for dinner and it was everything I hoped for dinner in Porto! Great prices, great portions and amazing flavors! Go there and ask for Emmanuel, he gave us the best treatment!

Great location, first and foremost. Staff were welcoming but waiter then seemed surprised - even a little disappointed - that we both went for the small francesinha rather than the large. However, it was delicious in a tremendous, slightly spicy, sauce. Wife had a large glass of green wine while I just had a delightful 0.4l of very cold beer- the ubiquitous super-bock. You couldn't beat the view or the light bite.

Drooling seafood presented on the table. Came here for lunch then decided to return for dinner to try other great dishes prepared by the chef. Food truely succulent which suit our taste bud. Paired with their house white and rose wine 🍷. Thanks so much for your super friendly services and meal 🍽️

Absolutely fantastic food in Porto! The stuff is amazing, friendly and knows the menu really well. The location is nice, not that crowded as restaurants next to the river. Food is great, prawns were just incredibly tasty, and the dessert 11/12 (or something like that) was super delicious! Highly recommend! Hope to come back one day!

After arriving late from Lisbon to Porto, I found this restaurant and decided to visit after reading reviews on Google. I visited with my child and ordered grilled octopus, seafood rice, grilled shrimp, and sangria. Overall, it was a bit salty for our family's taste, perhaps because it was meant for seafood. However, it wasn't bad when paired with the accompanying garnish. The sangria was 15 euros for 500ml. It felt quite expensive, but I ordered it just to try it. Is this typical Portuguese sangria? (See photo) It was unbelievable... It was expensive, but it was worth experiencing at least once. While taste buds vary, everyone in my family agreed it was salty. Again, it's best enjoyed with garnish. Not recommended for those sensitive to salt. I also tried the seafood rice for the first time, and while it wasn't quite what I'd seen before, it was a decent experience. (If I were to visit again, I wouldn't order it.) Also, we had a table on the first floor and on the terrace. Since there were no seats on the upper level, we gave up on the view and went to the second floor. While we didn't experience any special service, we had a hard time paying. They were demanding a tip. We didn't add any, but... if we had experienced exceptional service and a unique taste, it wouldn't have been a waste. It's important to serve something from the heart, but... It was frustrating when we had to pay. They persistently asked for a tip for two or three minutes, but we never added one. We won't be back again when we visit Porto. I hope my review was helpful.

We wanted to order the barnacles but were told that its not in season. The young gentleman next to us kindly explained to us that right now the weather is dangerous for the percebeiros (professionals whose job are to harvest percebes or barnacles on the rocks). We got to chat a bit about the seafood culture in Portugal. We ordered stuffed edible crab and grilled tiger prawn. So fresh and delicious. Just before we were about to get the check, we were told that the young man actually was one of the bosses and he sent us a sweet desert! Thanks!

Meia-Nau Porto is a renowned restaurant located in the heart of Porto, offering an exquisite selection of fish and seafood dishes. With its charming nautical decor and efficient service, it has quickly become a favorite dining spot for locals and visitors alike. The menu features delectable options such as fried fish with fish egg and bread puree, as well as sumptuous seafood rice abundant with shrimp and mussels.
This restaurant is very popular among Chinese social media users, so you’ll often see Chinese and Taiwanese guests here. Their dining style is a bit different – sharing main dishes instead of the starter–main–dessert order, and usually not tipping. But the staff remain very friendly. I had clams and a one person seafood rice, both tasty and generous. It’s great that solo travellers can request single portions, and the wine is reasonably priced at around €4 a glass. Even the restroom was impressively clean.

We loved this place so much that we unusually ate here three nights during a five-night stay in Porto. The food quality was exceptional. Compared to UK prices the value was amazing. The choice of menu is varied and the choice of totally fresh fish was excellent. Most evenings we could choose from 6 or 7 different fish. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly yet courteous and highly efficient. The wines are good quality and great value . This should be on everyone’s radar if you like seafood. Absolutely brilliant!

We first tried to go to sister restaurant Mare by Meia-Nau, but there was a big line and it doesn't take reservations. So we reserved at Meia-Nau (reservations required). The menu is extensive and the decor is nice. The food was good but not exceptional for the price. We had the grilled sardines, the fish soup and the seafood rice. The soup was good but small, the seafood in the rice was overcooked and the sardines weren't as good as others we had in Porto. Service was average. The highlight was the fondant cake for dessert, which takes 20 mins to prepare. The cake was decadent with a rich caramel flavor and served hot right from the oven. Overall, I believe there is better seafood in Porto.
J L — Google review
The restaurant has a good design. The food presentation is also good, although the taste itself was just okay for me. The seafood rice was warm and comfortable especially during the cold, but I felt that I was looking for more flavor (but maybe that’s because I’m Asian). Make sure to reserve as it was very full. Service was friendly, although when we arrived for our reservation, our table wasn’t ready yet.

Food was good, reasonable price, and people there are friendly, welcoming and attentive. They do not pushed for more, and instead told us to stop when it might be too much for us to eat, everything was great! Would definitely revisit when returning to Porto :) book before hand or visit during lunch, as they are always full every evening!!

This is a lovely spot that serves delicious seafood rice, cooked perfectly with rich flavors and generous portions of fresh seafood. The mussels are especially tasty—plump, juicy, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax over a leisurely meal. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for a satisfying local dish, this place is definitely worth visiting.

We can highly recommend the clams and the sea bass — the charcoal-grilled flavor was excellent. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly, and the food offered great quality for a fair price. Possibly the best meal we had in Porto.

Absolutely amazing. We went there on our first night at Porto and it was so delicious we went there again on our last night. We had seafood at other places too but Meia-Nau is the tastiest and freshest and had most seafood available. Staff were very discreet, attentive and helpful. Long list of wine. Octopus always available. Only issue I had was the few annoying fruit flies so I knocked off a star for atmosphere. But other than that we love it.

Bao's Taiwanese Burger is a popular spot in Porto, known for its delicious and diverse selection of bao buns. These small steamed buns come with a variety of fillings, from traditional options like pork belly to more unique choices such as codfish or soft-shell crab. The restaurant has garnered praise for its flavorful offerings, including the gua bao filled with pork belly and the adventurous crab bao featuring soft shell crab tempura.
From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The food was fantastic. Some of the best cheese fries and softshell crab I've eaten in Portugal so far! When we sat down, they brought my dog a bowl of water and a plate of snacks which were only for the dog and not to be eaten by us although they smelled good enough to eat!

Bao’s is one of my favourite places in Porto. I’ve been a customer for years, specially through takeaway and delivery. But lately, the quality is just not the same. No restaurant should serve food like this, the bread completely overcooked, ripped apart and I also ordered my favourite dessert, the black sesame ice cream and the bread was also overcooked and dry, it was terrible. Please do better!
Carolina M — Google review
We stopped to get a night snack in Porto and my husband decided to buy the burger here. It was his first time eating a Taiwanese burger. For him, it was ok. The price is also reasonable.

We ordered the beef bao and the chicken bao, they were very quick to serve and it was very tasty. I also ordered a salad which has a sort of peanuty sauce which I really enjoyed, the apple tea was also very good. For dessert we had the sesame seed ice cream bao which I thought was amazing but my bf didn't appreciate that much so it's a matter of taste. Overall it was a very pleasant experience

Commenting as a Taiwanese, this is the best Taiwanese restaurant I’ve ever had in the years I’ve been living in Europe! The variant- crab bao is such well made that I think it’ll make it in the Taiwanese market too. Kudos to the chef who’s not even a Taiwanese, you can cook better than me🙈

Wow! So good, fresh, and fast! It’s a fast-food like environment, but the food is beyond that. We had the meat, pork belly, and tofu baos, with the amazing manioc chips. Everything came in under 7 minutes and was delicious. With two “finos” that cost us 26€.
Alexandre P — Google review
I tried the vegan tofu bao. As an idea, it was great. As for the taste it definitely fell short - the tofu was unseasoned and not firm to be placed in a burger/bao. The mango sauce was the dominant element of the dish. I could barely taste the onions or the daikon. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

ODE Porto Wine House is a charming boutique nestled on the Douro River, offering a genuine experience of Porto's charm and historical beauty. The city's passionate locals are known for their love of The North and its gastronomy, making it an important destination in Western Europe. The wine bar-come-restaurant takes pride in sourcing local organic produce to pair with its wines, offering meticulously crafted dishes in a beautiful setting.
Ode Porto delivered on every level. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, with excellent wine recommendations that perfectly matched the meal. The food was top-notch across the board, but the steak with 3-day cooked sauce was next level—easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired with a series of great wines. To top it off, the chocolate fondant was rich, perfectly gooey, and balanced by the bright, homemade orange ice cream. A perfect finish to an incredible meal. If you’re in Porto, this place is a must.

Ode Porto is an absolute treat. We were here at the end of May and the experience was unforgettable. You step in from the hustle and bustle of the streets and immediately everything slows down. The staff was fantastic from beginning to end and the owner makes you feel like a guest in his house. The love and care for what they do here is apparent. Each dish was fantastic and wine offerings were just as good. I wish we could have tried it all. A standout dish for me was the Cabidela Rice. A dish that seems rustic but was so complex in flavors. Highly recommended this gem when you are in Porto.

What a beautiful and intimate evening at Ode Porto Wine House! I joined my friend for his birthday dinner, and from the moment we entered, it was clear this wasn’t just another restaurant — it was a place where care, detail, and soul are put into everything. The food was exceptional, the wine selection was on point, and the ambiance… simply perfect for a memorable celebration. A special thank you to the owner, Mr. Cristóvão Sousa, for his generosity and warm hospitality — the surprise at the end was so thoughtful and added a heartfelt touch to the night. Highly recommended for those who appreciate authentic Portuguese flavors served with love 💫 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cannot express how special my time was at ODE. First of all, I had single handedly the best food I have had in Portugal. We had the tripes as an appetizer which was so good that my finance and I thought about just ordering more orders of that as our entire meal. But then the main courses came out which absolutely stunned. I had the octopus rice which was perfectly seasoned and not at all too heavy. My partner got the Iberian pork ribs which literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Dessert was the owners own mothers pudding which had us savoring every bite. We were introduced to our new favorite champagne - the entirety was more than we could have hoped for. The history behind this place is moving and the devotion to family, tradition, culture, quality, and food was very touching. The owner wrote us a handwritten congratulations on our engagement on a hand painted parting gift. What an experience- I hope each and every person at ODE knows that they have given us a once in a lifetime production!
Izzy G — Google review
Tucked inside a centuries-old wine cellar in the heart of Porto, Ode isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a love letter to heritage, hospitality, and the kind of soulful cooking that lingers long after the last bite. From the moment you step through the doors, you’re met with a welcome note that immediately sets the tone: a tribute to the chef’s mother and grandmother — the original culinary muses — whose recipes, warmth, and spirit still guide the kitchen today. The space itself is intimate, rustic, and rich with history, the stone walls echoing with the quiet clink of wine glasses and the soft hum of conversation. But what truly sets Ode apart isn’t just the setting — it’s the people. The owner/sommelier treated us like family, offering expert wine pairings with heartfelt conversation and the kind of hospitality that feels instinctual, not rehearsed. And then, the food. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, glazed in something sweet and smoky that made silence fall across the table. The chicken — deceptively simple — was cooked to perfection, juices running, each bite layered with warmth and care. Every plate felt personal, as if it had been made just for us. Ode is a place where time slows, stories are shared, and meals become memories. It’s the kind of restaurant you wish you could take home with you — but instead, you carry it in your heart (and on your taste buds) long after you’ve left.

Wow! We celebrated our anniversary here in October 2025, based on a recommendation from a friend. Cute and great food, wine and port. My dish was outstanding. My wife liked but did not love her dish. The owner visits every table to ask how things are going. When he heard she liked but did not love her dish, we were totally surprised and charmed when he volunteered to replace it. Her replacement was one of her favorite dinners in a 3 week journey throughout Portugal. I had a great colheita from 1982 (our anniversary year)....expensive but the best ever. One minor vignette....we were seated downstairs near some doors/windows...very cute. Some guests stepped out for a smoke, and smoke wafted in. Yuck. We mentioned to owner, and he skillfully and diplomatically asked the others to step away. They had no idea their smoke was wafting in, and they quickly and apologetically moved further away. Problem solved. Kudos to owner for handling.

Nata Lisboa's cozy atmosphere and ample seating make it a popular spot for freelancers seeking a productive workspace, offering free Wi-Fi and conveniently located power outlets.
Delicious breakfast. Good service. Location is excellent. Also enjoyed sitting on the patio with a glass of port wine. Downside to any patio is that we have to deal with the smokers.

Good flaky pastry, custard wasn’t the best. Service was non existent. Perhaps from the crowds and inefficient order. If you are ordering takeaway you can order at the counter but if you are planning to sit down you need to wait for the waitstaff to come take your order which took like 15/20minutes even though I only wanted 2 tarts. Decided to takeaway instead. Better places in Porto for egg tarts so can give this place a miss

This was an odd experience, with more wrong than right, but some real positives at the same time. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch, liked the location and the look of the menu, and sat down. We both opted for the Lisboa salad at 11 euros 50, including a soft drink and one of the Nata pasties, which is a very good price by UK standards. I ordered a sardine salad, and my wife ordered a Mediterranean salad. The waitress came back and checked if I definitely wanted sardines and I confirmed that I did. We waited around 35 minutes for the food, and when it came I got a tuna salad instead of a sardine one. I really didn't want to wait for another prolonged period for it to be replaced, so I just ate it. Both salads were very good. We then had our Nata pastry, which was spectacular, and a coffee, which was also very good. Despite the very slow service, and the wrong order, I came away with a great deal of sympathy for the member of staff. She was friendly, cheerful, and working hard under difficult circumstances, trying to do everything herself. Since COVID hospitality has been struggling across the world and it's very difficult to get the balance of service, ingredients and price right. This was a nice place to watch the world go by, with a lot to see on a warm day, so it wasn't a great deal of hardship to have a long wait. Everyone didn't feel that way however, and there was some grumbling and complaining from other customers.
James W — Google review
Had to wait almost one hour to be served. I tried ordering directly from the counter but they won’t let you if you are eating in. I ended up having to wait for a waiter who was clearly occupied elsewhere and ignored my table for more than 40 minutes. The Pasta de Nata was nice but I don’t think it was exceptional and worth the wait. I like mine a bit crunchy on the outside and that was personally missing. I also got a Galão, which was good. Overall quite cheap (except the cappuccino which is overpriced). I spent under €4.

It’s a little out from where the usual tourists spots are, but if you make it here, you will be rewarded. Great ambience, great foods, really local and fairly priced.

Holly Sunday Not busy, super nice food court you won't be too worry about our "bags". Lots of varieties of food like pasta, beer, local, tapas, sushi, seafood, etc... Only one counter offer seafood with oyster, king prawns, etc... looks great. Personally, I like Coffee Point Coffee coz it has lots of flavors with ice also.

It’s a less touristy version of Time Out Market, the atmosphere is modern and with lots more locals here. Here, you’ll find an endless parade of authentic Portuguese dishes, from flaky pastries and chocolate cakes to perfectly poured port, beers, and savoury petiscos. We dove straight into Mariscaria’s seafood platter: tender crab claws, plump shrimp, mussels in a fragrant broth, and that irresistible bread-and-crab-dip couvert. Every bite was fresh, briny, and generously portioned—yet the prices stayed very reasonable. Whether your group can’t agree on appetizers or everyone’s craving something different, this is the perfect spot to graze, share, and discover new favourites together. Visited on a Monday at 1pm, seems to be a fave lunch spot amongst office workers.

Lagostim is a must-visit restaurant in Porto, offering amazing food and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu features delicious meat dishes, salmon, seabass, and local specialties like Tripas a moda do Porto. The staff is attentive and the service generous. Visitors can enjoy their meals on the outside terrace while soaking in the city's ambiance. The desserts, including Natas do Ceu and cheesecake, are mouthwatering.
The food was delicious and had very good selection of drinks. We had grilled prawns for starters and it was very delicious and the seafood rice was amazing. Very welcoming, lovely and friendly staffs. Pedro was the one who was serving us and he was very helpful when choosing your food. Would love to go back again.

We saw this place walking around and decided to try it for lunch. I had sea bass and my wife had the grilled octopus. Both were phenomenal. The desserts were also tasty. Almost e everyone in the place seemed to know the owner. Mostly locals. Kind of a no frills local hangout that is all about the food. The house green wine was a little sweet for me but it went well with the food.

Must visit!!! Amazing service from Thiago!! Food was delicious and Traditional. friendly atmosphere!! If you are in Porto on holiday this is a must stop here !!!

Order the Seafood Rice, it's for 2 people, however, our growing 16 year old son, helped himself, after eating the grilled salmon dish, so technically, 3 people can share this dish. Y'all it was sooooooo good! The flavor! I think they let this bad boy simmer for a few hours because it was hitting on all the notes! My daughter got her vegetarian dish and Papi and I got the Sangria, which by the way, had a bit more alcohol than the previous one we'd tried...a little tipsy! LOL! Come here, eat, drink and be merry! It's all good! Make a reservation and enjoy the service from the attentive staff! 👍🏾

Very, very good food. The Bacalhau à brás was amazing. The waiter, Pedro, was a very nice guy who made sure the night was a success. The only downside is the busy road next to the restaurant.

Great food, nice drinks, nice mix of local people and some tourists, in the centre of town. A litle terrace where Porto life goes by, and shout out to our attentive and very friendly waiter Pedro!

Pedro provided excellent service ! Delicious meal and lovely atmosphere. Our last evening in Portugal and beautiful Porto … a great spot for dinner :) Obrigado!
Sandra K — Google review
Unfortunately, this place was not anything that we expected. We should’ve left when we still had the chance. The service was absolutely unfriendly and showed up occasionally. The octopus portion size was very small, a starter at best. The codfish was horrible. Rubbery texture, heavily salted and didn’t taste very fresh. This place felt more like a well placed tourist trap than an authentic Portuguese seafood place. We will most definitely never see that place again.

The food is quite decent, I had grilled chicken and salad which are good. I tried sushi from friends platter but it's not that great. And it's hot inside with no air conditioning or even a fan that works.

Not your typical all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. They offer a fixed price curated tasting menu and at the end of it, if you are still hungry, they will make you any sushi menu item a la carte. Really enjoyed the food and service. Will be back!

We had a pizza and codfish and they were delicious. Cod was nicely plated and tasted fantastic. There was quite a bit of spinach which I thoroughly enjoyed with the tender potatoes. Pizza was on point with a thin crispy crust. Service was friendly and helpful although they got my order wrong but that was quickly rectified. A lovely lunch!

We ate 2 vegetarian dishes and they were really good! Also the stuff was friendly and the sangria we drank was delicious. As others said, you do have to pay for the bread and oil you are served as appetizers. The restaurant was a bit expensive for Porto but the quality was good!

Everything we’ve tried has been full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It’s honestly some of the best food we’ve had in Porto

One of the best places we ate on our Portugal trip! The atmosphere is welcoming, homey, and friendly. I love the architecture and history behind the building and restaurant. The owner and server are super engaging and very helpful with food suggestions and pairings. We closed the place down after 3 1/2 hrs of sitting at the table and chatting with the owner and another couple sitting near us. Just an all around good feeling with delicious home cooked food and great port! A must visit when in Porto!

This spot is on a side street in the busiest part of central Porto. That said, I sat outside and had a very peaceful experience with little foot traffic. Service, food and wine were excellent and very well priced. If you are in central Porto and are looking for authentic Portugal food, this is a great place.

Service friendly and helpful, but my main course arrived while I was still eating my starter and just put on the table anyway. Enormous portions of evidently good quality tuna but so salty I couldn't finish it. Tomato Rice really watery. Seating may be authentic but it's extremely uncomfortable. All in all disappointed given all the rave reviews.

You would not expect such a nice restaurant in this small street. When you enter you get astonished with the spirit of this place. If you are down or upstairs it’s an experience just to be sitting there on those original chairs. Some tables are also piece of art. The decoration and architectural elements are very interesting. Then you can order from short, but complete menu. From different starters to main dish all is appetizing. I would just put more details about each dish on the paper. But that’s fine, very friendly staff will help you to explain what all those traditional names and dishes are made from. I think you can’t make wrong with any of the offered meal, we tried almost everything. Both starters and mains are delicious. They have original and traditional taste full of species and flavors. It might not be for everyone, but definitely worth it! Obrigado.

Really wonderful experience ordered a variety of entrées and appetizers and they were all delicious and unique. The waiter couldn’t have been more helpful in explaining the menu. The pork cheeks could be cut with a spoon, came with a sizable portion of polenta that sucked up the juices from the meat, which made it even more delicious. The steak was tender, medium rare, and came with what I will call a chimichurri sauce, the shrimp curry was unlike any other curry earthy and full of spice with a little heat. they have a great upstairs space which would be perfect for larger parties. If you’re adventurous and wanna try something different definitely come here we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

A warm, inviting space created by a PORTO native ( Carla) who’s African Families Roots (1/2 Capre Verdean and 1/2 Mozambique) inspires the menu. The cocktails are unique, cloyingly sweet but with a kick! The appetizer of Yucca > Smashed > deep-Fried > -and artfully served in a small metal pail with 2- dipping sauces are just enough to inspire you to order more of what her kitchen puts out! On one visit we tried the beef-cheeks an earlier meal, we enjoyed the SHRIMP Curry- both were quite tasty ( AND, I do recommend adding some of their house-made PiriPiri / “Oh-Jesus!!! Hot-sauce)

If you find yourself in Porto and craving something beyond traditional Portuguese cuisine, look no further than Frida, a delightful Mexican restaurant that beautifully pays homage to the iconic artist Frida Kahlo. The ambiance is a charming blend of contemporary design and nostalgic elements, featuring striking decor inspired by Kahlo's work alongside vintage newspapers from Mexico. Frida’s menu showcases an array of authentic Mexican dishes that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of Mexico rather than falling into the typical Tex-Mex category.
We had a very tasty lunch at Frida. The server was very friendly and made the experience whole. The food is more expensive than your usual lunch, but the quality of the food is very high.

I came for the décor and wasn’t disappointed - it’s vibrant, quirky, and full of personality. The food was a little mixed: the pastor tacos were tasty but on the slim side, while the duck with mole was absolutely superb. What really makes it worth a visit, though, is the excellent mezcal list and the genuinely warm staff. Reservations recommended.
Michael C — Google review
We looked for Mexican food and found this place. Not quite what we were expecting. The place itself is well designed and service is good. But definitely not worth the price. All the food in the pictures plus two cocktails was €90. And we just nibbled. Thanks food was good but nothing to write home about. For the same price in Porto you can get a much better experience elsewhere. The margarita was great would definitely come back just for a drink.
Eyal C — Google review
1st time visit and really enjoyed the experience. Service was friendly and helpful explaining the food options which was helpful as it’s different from traditional Mexican. Food was delicious as were the Margaritas. Would definitely recommend
Tracy W — Google review
I came in hungry, I left reborn. The margarita hit harder than my alarm clock on a Monday. By sip two, I was flirting with a pepper trio like it was a Tinder date. The ceviche clássica? So fresh I’m pretty sure it still had opinions. Then came the mole. Deep. Smoky. Seductive. Honestly, if that mole proposed, I’d say yes and move to Oaxaca. Frida Porto doesn’t just serve food, it serves emotional rollercoasters in beautifully plated chaos. 10 out of 10, would salsa dance with a side dish again.
Erik S — Google review
The interior was fabulous and did not disappoint. It was decadent and relaxing. Service was friendly and attentive. Margarita cocktails were perfect. Not much listed on the menu for vegans or which could be veganised so I guess it only could accommodate my liking for one visit. The enchilada I had was really tasty, with unusual (for me at least) ingredients. My partner had a starter, main and desert (plus what I couldn't eat of my dish) and thoroughly everthing. The only thing that let the place down was the uncomfortable seating experienced by us both.
Louise S — Google review
I organized a company dinner for 40 people and João and the team made it seemless. João supported via whatsapp with all my questions, made recommendations and was super fast in replying. We chose the main dishes in advance and the whole staff did great and kept the customers happy. Filete de Caña was the favorite dish and it also puts on a good flames show! I personally loved the Nopales Salad. Margaritas were nice and the Loteria desert made for the perfect fun ending. The deko is beautiful, helpful staff and management and delicious food and drinks - all you can ask for in a restaurant. This was a huge company dinner and the whole Frida team should be proud of this wonderful experience they provided to us. (In the pictures you can see the Ensalada de Nopales, the Pescado Tatemado, loteria and strawberry margarita)
Sónia D — Google review
Ate here last Friday. Service was great and the decor is lovely. The food was somewhat overpriced we thought. The mole sauce was great but the beef tacos were fairly small and overpriced at 23 euros. But the shocking thing was the Lottery dessert. 4 chocolates with a card representing each one. I started with the Luna which turned out to be Le Diablo. I love hot spicy food, but this was not funny. It nearly blew my head off. I felt like I had been physically assaulted. Luckily I could take it, just, but I am sure there are people who would not be able to. It was seriously by far the hottest thing I have ever eaten, and there was not even a warning. I felt they should have paid me to eat it. It was that bad. Shame, because it completely ruined our meal. My friend and I had to drink milk (UHT) to ease the pain and he is lactose intolerant, which cut our evening short. Never again.

We stopped by this restaurant on our way back to the hotel for a quick bite before catching our flight. It was early, so the place was quiet, but the fun décor gave it a lively feel. We had a delicious meal in a nice, quiet corner of WOW! We both had very tasty Caeser salads with chicken, and split a garlic bread (which was really a small garlic and cheese pizza, and I'm not complaining about that -- it was great). Outdoor seating was fantastic, with a great view of the Douro and a quiet atmosphere. The service was excellent; we'll definitely be back!

We had a very good experience at PIP. The starter introduced me to a very tasty olive oil, the codfish was very well seasoned and had a lot of flavor, and the pepperoni pizza was without a doubt one of the best, if not THE best pizza I have ever eaten. The red wine was light and pleasant, and the dessert was also very good. The servers were very polite and the overall experience was particularly pleasant. All for a very reasonable price, it is definitely an address to try in Porto!

We stumbled upon this restaurant because the one we were originally going to go to was closed. Wow, what I find! The inside of the restaurant was beautiful, dark wood beams accenting the ceiling, cellar style walls and beautiful accents. We ordered the bruschetta and salmon. The bruschetta was nontraditional, instead of little crostinis, the bread was this outstanding housemade bread, similar to a pizza dough. Delicious!! The salmon was served with risotto which was excellent. While the salmon was a but dry, it was still good. The service was very good, welcoming and extremely polite. Great find and looking to go back. UPDATE: Went back for lunch the same week and as predicted, were very impressed by the pizzas. The dough was airy, light, absolutely delicious. The service was just as welcoming and top notch as the first visit abd the restaurant itself was more beautiful during the day. Great find!

Salta O Muro is a hidden gem among the fish and seafood restaurants in Matosinhos. The ambiance is unassuming, with old plastic chairs and a handwritten menu, but the real treat is choosing your fresh fish from the counter to be expertly grilled right outside. Specialties include fried European pilchards, grilled largehead tail with green sauce, and anglerfish stew.
This is a family restaurant serving a variety of fresh grilled fish. The potatoes were well seasoned, the vegetables well prepared and flavourful. The grilled fish options for 1 or 2 people were great. Highly recommend for a casual, family style experience. It is a quick Uber ride from downtown.

Salta o Muro is a hidden gem in Matosinhos that captures the essence of Portuguese coastal dining. This family-run restaurant offers an authentic experience, serving fresh seafood in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is a celebration of the sea, featuring daily catches prepared with simplicity and care. From grilled sardines to octopus rice, each dish showcases the natural flavors of the ingredients. The accompanying sides, like the well-seasoned potatoes and fresh vegetables, complement the main courses perfectly. What sets Salta o Muro apart is its commitment to quality and tradition. The staff, including Sr. Moreira and Jorge, provide exceptional service, making guests feel like part of the family. Their knowledge and passion for the cuisine enhance the dining experience. While the prices reflect the quality of the seafood, the value is undeniable. The generous portions and exquisite flavors make every euro well spent. It’s advisable to visit more than once to explore the diverse offerings on the menu. In summary, Salta o Muro is a must-visit for anyone seeking genuine Portuguese seafood in a cozy setting. The combination of fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and heartfelt hospitality ensures a memorable meal every time.

I walked around the entire block checking out all the restaurants and eventually landed here because it was recommended to me. At first it did not appear to be interesting because their grill is not in front of the street like the other places. However, it’s been the best meal out of my 8 days in Portugal. I wish I could have eaten here everyday. The fish is incredibly fresh and delicious and juicy but very simply prepared. I also appreciated that it was a no frills type of joint unlike the other restaurants that invested in fancy dining. In that sense, I found this restaurant to be very charming. Finally, our meal was very affordable adding up to about 30ish euros. Our server was very kind which I appreciated a lot.
Janice C — Google review
This restaurant was a little difficult to navigate as the waiters spoke limited English but it was more than made up for in hospitality and willingness to help. The food though was insane, the grilled sea bass was nothing short of perfection. Seasoned just right, immaculate crisp with super soft meat inside. The side of green turnip rice was something new and unexpected. The peppers were also great - especially the smaller ones - nice char, well salted. The bread here felt unique to me compared to all the other bread we tried in Portugal, they gave two kinds: one with salted meat embedded in it and another that was insanely dense, slightly sweet and just different. I’ve never had bread like that one. We also got the small fried sardines which were super soft and totally worth it as an appetizer. The chef came out and checked on us and although we don’t speak any Portuguese and she didn’t speak any English it was clear that she was so happy to have us and expressed her gratitude over how we cleaned our plates (nothing was left)
Degonto M — Google review
We were given a recommendation from Pão da Terra Cafe and so happy we asked! This little place served us grilled peppers, fresh sea bass, cooked cabbage and to die for potatoes! Paired with a vinho Verde. The servers were friendly and very professional. I don't mean this in a bad way but this place is not fancy, but don't let that fool you, it was one of the best meals we had!

Our favourite meal we had during our Porto trip. Felt like an authentic experience as everyone around us was local. Simple fare but executed perfectly. Our waiter spoke some English and was able to recommend his favourites to us.

Tucked into an otherwise touristy strip on the beach is this familial restaurant run by a small staff and a matriarch in the kitchen - at least that’s what I picked up when I was there. No matter, the food was exquisite - simple, singing, fish dishes with unadulterated vegetable sides dressed in olive oil. The service was beautiful - even if little was shared in terms of language. To put it simply, it was a whole vibe.

This is my absolute favorite bakery. Everything I get is so delicious. I can’t say it’s the most affordable place but it’s definitely well worth it. Especially the carrot cake is incredible. I would get it every single day if it fit my budget just a bit more. 10/10

Recommend the bakery, not so much the cafe. If you want to eat there, do not make the mistake of ordering from the cafe menu they give you! (Limited options, cold and unappealing pastries). Instead, take a picture of the pastry you want from the bakery and show it to the waiter. I didn’t realize they had this option until I overheard a staff member telling another customer :(
Edlyn P — Google review
Bakery with many options! We ordered a variety of the pastries to eat in. Weirdly none of the savoury pastries are heated up, so everything was cold and honestly not very good. The carrot / ginger cake and chocolate cake were the best things we got. Might be better to order as a takeaway to heat up at home.

unfortunately highly would not recommend the mango smoothie. it was 4.40€, but it was extremely bland and did not have any milk or cream (isn’t that what a smoothie means?). it tasted like a little bit of mango and a lot of water. pastel de nata was just ok, can get better elsewhere

Really good place. It is busy all the time... so may you have to wait a bit, but it's worthy. You have to try éclair there. I love it. Prices are reasonable

Friendly staff and nice terrace, the only con was that the pastries were all cold when the salty ones that we chose were supposed to be at least quite warm

One of the best coffees in Porto thus far. Purchased a chourico bread, cod cake, and carrot cake. All great The carrot cake is highly recommended. Location was busy, though service was excellent. Right around the corner from Livaria Lello and Lion fountain.

Casa Nanda is a family restaurant in Porto that has been serving delicious meals for over 35 years. Located on Alegria Street, it started as a small eatery and later evolved into a restaurant. The place exudes northern hospitality and holds some of the oldest gastronomical traditions of Porto. Chef Fernanda, the heart of Casa Nanda, cooks up dishes like hake fillets with rice or potato salad and grilled beef rib with love and expertise.
I'm not qualified to comment on how traditionally Portuguese this food was - but I really enjoyed it. Texture, flavors, presentation. I would happily dine here again.

Non touristic place, you can find only locals eat here - that is a great sign. They are offering both fish and meat. You need too try veal meat and goat meat that is typical. Nice list of wines. This time service a bit too slow but usually this is not a case. Stuff is nice & kind. The place is known for many years and recently got renovated with some Scandinavian interior touch (that is not common in Porto), prices are fair.

The stuff not so friendly. They gave us higher bill. Didn t make an effort wih a excuse. Wouldn’ t go there again.

The food here is simple but excellent. Great produce and cooked well. We had the grilled shrimp to start and shared the Octopus fillet with rice. The atmosphere is nice - quiet enough to hold a conversation while still being energetic. We did struggle with our waiter a bit since he wasn’t great with English but everything came as expected

From starters to desserts, you can't go wrong as every dish I ever had here has been absolutely delicious; one of my favourite restaurants in Porto, perfect example of Portuguese cuisine.
João R — Google review
We called this place to see if they have free table for dinner and they said yes! But when we arrived, they naked us to wait 40 minutes for a table! The food was good but they absolutely charged us more than the prices on list! With no explanation. I think it’s something normal that the restaurants in Porto are doing with tourists.

This is a great traditional Portuguese restaurant. The service was very friendly and the food was tasty. We really enjoyed the dish with the tripe beans chorizo and meat, such deep flavors, simple and tasty. We had a couple of starters and a great bottle of wine and we had a great time.
Shai Z — Google review
Great place, definitely recommended. It's a cozy place, not too big, not too small, mainly made out of wood. You will not see any "paper towels" on the table, not even with served food. Service was really nice. The food was amazing, and I really recommend giving the "pastel de nata" as a dessert a try. The only downside is the price, as it's a bit too high for my liking. However, I will for sure return one day, as the rest makes up for it!

Restaurante Salmão is a small and unpretentious eatery that offers excellent fresh fish dishes at affordable prices. The restaurant provides outstanding traditional Portuguese food, with the octopus being a highly recommended dish. Despite initial concerns about low ratings, it's evident that the negative reviews were from individuals who didn't understand certain European dining customs. The service is top-notch, and the overall dining experience is described as very good and pleasant by visitors.
Had a wonderful dinner this evening. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Beautiful traditional Portuguese food. I can personally recommend the octopus ❤️ Sadly we almost didn't go here because the rating was low but after reading the low reviews I released most of the bad reviews were by people who didn't do their research. It is very common in most European countries for small plates of bread, olives etc to be placed on your table for you to consume if you want them. And like everything you have to pay for these items. The pricing is also clearly shown in the menu. I can highly recommend this restaurant for great service and delicious Portuguese food all at a reasonable price. I'm so glad we went and will definitely be back 👍

Charming restaurant in small corner right at the center of the city, not too touristic. Warm and nice service. The food is very delicious yet quite pricey for Porto and anywhere else in Europe. We have 2 dishes, 1 desser and 1 wine and 1 beer.

Its a good spot they have amazing service but in terms of the food its a bit dicey. There are good food options but looks, tasty and cost prospective its not that highly recommended. I loved the service but apart from that nothing really was exciting. Average price range for a food starts from 20€.

It's at the back end of the square, away from the hubub of the main square. A traditional Portuguese fish restaurant. Had been in Porto for a week and not managed to get a proper fish dinner. Found this place, very welcoming, did great fresh sardines, paired with a good local wine at their recommendation. Mixed salad and some olives as well, Best meal I had!

Le Monument is a renowned restaurant in Porto, situated within the luxurious Maison Albar Hotels Le Monumental Palace. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience that showcases the diverse flavors of Portugal. With a Michelin star to its name, Le Monument presents an exclusive menu curated by chef Julien Montbabut, featuring dishes that celebrate various regions of Portugal. From oysters from Aveiro to sardines and tomato broth representing Porto's iconic night, each dish tells a story.
TBH this dinner was so good NO CAP! The service was jacked. They brought the food out RQ. The food was fire and the desserts were gas. The wine pairings were incredible and we got to meet the sous chef. Would definitely cop some food from here again. we basically took a trip through Portugal with our mouths.

Worst dining experience I have ever had. Presentation is good but that's where it stops, the taste of the food is horrible. I've been to many Michelin star restaurants around the world. This is the most expensive dinner at over $800 for 2 people and the worst food sadly. We're so disappointed. I did the wine paring and even the wines were disappointing especially for the price, which it tough to accomplish because there are so many incredible wines in Portugal. The Cuddle fish was chewy and long, it got stuck in our throats, the lobster was under cooked, hard to cut and chewy and the veal was overcooked and tough to cut. I mentioned this to the waiter, he mentioned it to the chef, the chef even came out and I said the above and he said thank you and would talk to the team and nothing else happened. I also mentioned this to the front desk upon checkout as they asked and they said they would inform "someone" and again nothing happened. Not that I was expected anything. Just lack of caring to go with the poor quality food. Again if you want a 14 course of good looking plating, this is for you but if you want to enjoy the taste, don't go here! The service team was exceptional though, it's not their fault I didn't enjoy the food.
Dale M — Google review
This was one of my favourite dining experience in a Michelin Star restaurant! The food was exquisite, the wine pairing by Carlota was excellent & well studied :) The whole journey orchestrated by Edouardo & his team was a wonderful voyage through Portugal ❤️ The deserts didn’t disappoint & taste amazing, much care & thought had been put into it & it shows. Thank you for this amazing experience & special thanks to the chef Julien Montbabut.

Enjoyed our tasting menu here at Le Monument during our visit in Porto. What standout for us was their super professional services and staff. Very accommodating and friendly. They took the time to explain the dishes and the attention to details. Tasty and delicious from the chefs including the desserts and pastry. We would have enjoyed more if the lighting was brighter so that we can see well of their wonderful dishes (just a personal preference) We chose the shorter menu around $200 per person and were really fulled at the end while we enjoyed the closing tea. Highly recommended!
Tomson C — Google review
I have been to many Michelin star restaurants, but this one rises above all others. My fiancé and I got the big journey with wine pairing, and it was worth every euro. I have not had a culinary journey like this before, but the food was impeccable. The staff were so kind, knowledgeable, and made us feel like home. Eduardo toured as through so many amazing flavors of Portugal and made it such a special experience. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a one of a kind dining experience.
Braden H — Google review
Disappointing ending to an otherwise pleasant evening We had dinner at Le Monument tonight, and overall the experience started off well — the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, and the staff were polite. The food was decent, though not particularly memorable compared to other Michelin restaurants we recently tried in San Sebastián in last stop. Still, since it was our last night in Porto, we were happy and ready to enjoy a relaxed evening. However, the experience ended on a disappointing note when we received the bill. Here’s what happened: We had booked the Big Journey tasting menu (€180 per person). Shortly after being seated, a waitress came and asked whether we would like champagne or Porto wine — without showing us any wine list, or asking if we would like to see one. Naturally, we assumed this was a complimentary aperitif offered as part of the dining experience, as many fine-dining restaurants do. To our surprise, the final bill included two aperitif glasses for €50 in total(around maybe 150ml each). When I questioned this, explaining that we were never informed these drinks would be charged separately, the waiter Eduardo simply smiled and said “No”, offering no further explanation and let us pay the bill. Suddenly felt so uncomfortable. It’s not about the price, we understand this is an upscale restaurant, but about transparency and respect to customers. At a Michelin-starred establishment, guests should be clearly informed of any additional charges and always be given the choice to see a wine list before being served something that will appear on the bill. This small moment changed the tone of what could have been a wonderful last night in Porto. I truly hope the restaurant will take this feedback seriously and improve communication with guests in the future.

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. No spoilers, but loved the start. The staff became friends in an instant. Eduardo was *chefs kiss*. The food was a wonderful experience, so dynamic and well balanced. We did the 10-course paired with wine…and the wine I CANT! WOW, those pairings just rocketed the dishes into outer space. This place is such an excellent reflection of Portugal in 10+ bites. I’d love to come again in a different season after a menu change. Would highly recommend. XOXO
Lauren B — Google review
The Michelin guide rarely disappoints but unfortunately Le Monument was one of those times. The concept sounded promising but the execution was poor. The food was beautifully presented but it just didn’t taste very good—definitely did not compare with the other Michelin star (or Bib Gourmand) restaurants we ate at in Portugal. It’s confusing to me that it even has a star in the first place. The flavor combinations often didn’t work and seemed like the chef was trying too hard to be avant garde. We got the 14 course tasting menu and the pacing of the courses was weirdly slow. We were at the restaurant for over 4 hours, and after waiting over 30 minutes for the last course (an infusion prepared table side—not sure why it took 30 minutes for them to bring some boiling water and tea to our table) we were basically falling asleep in our chairs. There are so many better restaurants in Porto, save your money and time and skip Le Monument.

Nabos da Púcara is a unique spot in Porto that combines a grocery store offering regional products with a small restaurant featuring seasonal menus. The cozy and intimate atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals and tourists. The restaurant is known for its delicious Iberian pork dishes and excellent wine selection, as well as generous portions of tasty cheeses. It's highly recommended for those looking to enjoy modern twists on traditional Portuguese cuisine, particularly tapas paired with Portuguese wines.
⭐️⭐️The food is delicious “ fish soup & Bacalhau/ Cod fish” 😋 Fish soup is more of a seafood, it has fish, clams and mussels. It’s a bit salty but still very delicious 😋 highly recommend to try. The owner of the shops is very friendly The cod fish/ Bacalhau is simple but very tasty 😋😋👌👌 Prices are affordable “ main dish & 1/2fish soup around 16€ It’s comfort food, highly recommended to try if you visit Lisbon. 😋🤤

The duck a l’orange is exceptional, perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Must try The selection for the cheese and meat platter is high quality, all very tasty, and generously sized. The olive tapenade was also really good. Friendly and reactive service. Would definitely come back

Food is possibly the best one over the five days we have been in Porto. We had fish soup, black pork with pear, Duck Margaret all excellently cooked & served. Shame the restaurant doesn’t take bookings online. Also openings hours is a bit misleading as it says 17:00 but the restaurant only starts serving at 18:30. I was told it’s because the quaint restaurant also have a grocery which opens at 17:00.

Went with friends that already know and are frequent to the place ☺️ The staff was very friendly and some of the dishes were really amazing 🥰 I read on the reviews about the pig cheeks, and they really are awesome. That is certainly a must have 🥰 The cheese and smoked meats had some really amazing cheeses and meats and the one you see in the pic is the smallest 🥰 The olive “butter” (tapenade) was amazing! Regarding deserts I loved the tangerine ice cream 🥰 The sweet potato pudim was a great surprise We had some bottles of wine, very good and that raised the price per person a little bit 25-30€ Will certainly return.

Nestled within the vibrant World of Wine (WOW) complex, Golden Catch is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its stunning terrace overlooking Porto's historic Ribeira neighborhood and the iconic Luiz Bridge, this restaurant offers not just a meal but a feast for the senses. The menu is dedicated to seafood lovers, featuring an array of fresh fish dishes and delightful starters priced between 10 to 15.
We visited this restaurant because we were able to use our credits from The Fork, and we are so glad we decided to do so! First, the view from the terrace was incredible and our table got to overlook this fabulous view for the entire meal. Next, the service was fine dining quality! Finally, the food was so delicious. We got a lot more food than we normally would have because of the credits, and I’m so glad we were able to try a variety! I highly recommend everything we ordered, but especially the sea bass - those truffle mashed potatoes were the best thing I’ve ever eaten!!

Really disappointing experience. All the plating looks awesome, but I guess looks can be deceiving. The squid on a skewer was mushy and poorly cooked. The seafood rice was a mess — salty mussels, undercooked rice, and mushy prawns. Even the sangria tasted more like medicine than wine. Worst of all, the server didn’t ask a single question when they cleared our plates, which were still full of food. No curiosity, no care. Not a place I’d return to or recommend.

Came for dinner around sunset, pretty empty on a Saturday. Octopus was over cooked and had some slimey skin on it. Beef - dont know what kind of cut of meat it was, it wasn't good. Fries were eh and salad was OK, but I think they put salt in it. Wine pour was a little light. Service wasn't as bad as some reviews mention. I think theres better places out there. Atleast the view was nice...

Very good restaurant with a stunning view of the bridge, attentive service, and tasty food. Highly recommend!
Marie L — Google review
Disappointing. Ordered the very expensive seafood tower for three of us. The volume of food, mostly shrimp and mussels, did not match the price, nor did the quality. The mussels were overcooked, the oysters were ordinary. The tempura shrimp was the best part, sad. The server dropped off the food and we didn’t see him again for over 20 minutes. Eventually the table was cleared and dessert menus were dropped without a smile. Then we were prompted to add a generous tip on to the bill. Declined. The view is incredible so go there for a bottle of wine, skip dinner.

The view is great, even better if you sit outside. The food is good. We had the skewers and the cod and both were great. Not the cheapest option in the city but its definitely worth a try.

Rather upscale touristic place. It's a great place to eat fish in the city, though. The view is fantastic, too. Try the sparkling sangria, it's phenomenal. Service could be better, though. Maybe we were just unlucky, but we had to remind our service staff regularly of missing sides, drinks, etc. A bit on the expensive side by Porto standards, but still very affordable from a tourist point of view.

The T&C Restaurant is a Portuguese gastropub with a very relaxed and private terrace that overlooks the Porto. The food is delicious, with an extensive wine list and outdoor seating in either the patio or barrel.
We had such a lovely diner at this place. First of all, the food was simply delicious. The order included steak and seabass - both meat and fish were impeccable and perfectly cooked. Portions are good with plenty of garnish. Portuguese flan for desert was spot on. Desert was quite small, but frankly we were happy with the size. Wine options are limited, but the choice is good. Port is excellent. The interior deserves kudos on its own. It’s stone and wood, some tables are placed within the wine barrels - such a smart way. There is a small fireplace in the middle of the room. Overall it’s very atmospheric and chill. Service is good. May be only tiny details to improve. We arrived for 7pm diner and there were no lamps on the table then - it was hard reading the menu. They also gave us just one menu for two people, no idea why. But once we ordered everything went smoothly - the food arrived quickly, we didn’t have to wait a lot for any other next steps, so all good. Reservations is very much recommended.

This place is worth going to, if not for anything else but just to see it. It’s absolutely beautiful. The ambience is perfect. The staff is great and accommodating. The food is delicious. We had a plate of cheese, olives and bread to start with and it was delicious. The olives were marinated with garlic, the cheese came either a side of pumpkin jam and nuts, and the bread was warm. All super yummy. We had the ribs either potato, and it was scrumptious!! My husband and our friend had the francesinhas and they loved them. We had two different bottles of wine from the duoro region and they were both great. I would highly recommend this place and would come back on a special occasion.

Enjoyed a great meal here with a gorgeous view! Our server was very helpful and we loved the Cod fritters and everything we tried. A few of the mussels tasted a bit off, but other than that- a great meal!! I could have eaten so many cod fritters. They were almost creamy in the center and not greasy at all.

The food is mediocre at best but the service tries very hard and that is much appreciated. The outdoor terrace is lovely and the wow complex is really something to be seen. This is the property on site. For sure. We had the green salad, the beef steak and the starter cheese and ham. All were adequate. Wine was just ok considering we were at the Mecca.

We held a private event here for a pre-wedding dinner in June 2025 (85 guests). The restaurant was fully bought out for cocktails, dinner, and a late night open bar. Our experience with the WOW team was great - although they were a little unprepared for the number of guests in our party. For example, they ran out of glassware for wine an hour into the event. And the bar staff didn’t know how to mix basic cocktails. But overall we had a great experience here. Keep in mind, the building didn’t have air conditioning! Something I neglected to think about before selecting this venue. The food, wine and staff were all excellent otherwise.

We had a dinner at this restaurant. We made a reservation so we got a pretty god spot in the back. We order the cod fritters which were great, and a bean stew and a francesinha. Both were really tasty. The desserts were not so great though. Not bad but we were just expecting a but mire. but atleast they are not comically expensive. Would recommend

We were walking around the area ready for lunch and noticed the outdoor seating here, look at the menu and decided it was finally time to try the famous Francesinha. The location is in a square area of World of Wines, in a fancy but relaxed setting. The service was friendly yet professional. The selection of drinks was quite fancy as well. The Francesinha was really tasty and well presented. A portion was enough for 2 not very hungry people and I'd guess it's perfect if you're really hungry. Overall a great experience in a fine dining yet relaxed setting so would definitely eat here again.

Arvore do Mundo is a vegan restaurant located in Batalha, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The restaurant serves healthy and delicious food, with superb service and a sun-drenched courtyard for relaxing. The menu changes daily and often features vegan versions of regional dishes.
The place was recommended to us and it lived up to the recommendation. A small place with indoor and outdoor seating. Beautifully decorated, with a warm and friendly staff. But what really makes the place worth a try is the delicious food. I had the soup menu included a starter, soup, salad and two pastries which are really two appetizers, all 7euros. There was more than enough food. My husband has the lunch menu which included starter, soup, salad and a main dish which was a vegetable lasagna. OMG that the lasagna delicious and the price for this was 10euro. So much delicious food, beautifully presented. Mark this as a place to visit. You will not be disappointed!!!

It is a small, cute, delicious vegan place nearby many Porto attractions. Their vegan food is the most delicious vegan food I have ever tried! In fact, it’s one of the most delicious foods I have ever tried, vegan or not. I love that they make traditional, vegan, Portuguese food that I didn’t think I would’ve gotten the chance to try otherwise. They have menus of the day for a more than fair price; a great selection of drinks (wine, local beer brewery, kombucha, soft drinks, etc). Also, when we ordered our dessert to go, we loved that the chef had the attention to decorate it as if we would’ve eaten it there. Everything was fresh, delicious and they served a good amount of food in each dish. Their service is great, and not rushed at all, so this is not the place for you if you’re looking to be in and out in 30 min. The whole staff was warm and welcoming. I really loved the vibes of this place, I would definitely be a regular if I lived in Porto :)

Thailander is a laid-back restaurant in Lisbon that offers traditional Thai cuisine in a no-nonsense setting. It may be considered the best Thai restaurant in Portugal, serving dishes like pad krapow and pad see ew. The lunch menu includes a drink and starter. Located at R. Thailander truly has my heart. It is, from my personal view, the gold standard for how a restaurant should operate. They are thoughtful of their decor and maintain high standards for cleanliness, while still offering a menu at decent prices (especially for Asian food). It is one of the few restaurants here that have not inflated their prices and lowered their quality of both food and service, despite the overwhelming boom in tourism/immigration over the last few years. They also have incredibly kind and attentive employees who always greet us with a smile. Shawn checks in to make sure that the flavour/quality of our dishes are up to par, Lee is thoughtful to remember our orders and jokes with us, and Mateus is always helping us with our Portuguese (apologies if my spelling is incorrect!). And last but not least, the food is always delicious; the balance of umami, sweetness, and spiciness is ideal to me. We typically come for lunch here, and their set menu is an awesome deal; it’s an appetizer, main (which is a rotation of three regular entrees and you get to choose the protein - chicken, pork, and tofu I believe), and a drink. The quality and quantity of food makes it a great deal for the price. My notable favorites are the pad thai, pad prik pao, duck massaman curry, and their thom yum soup. Yes, the food takes a bit longer to come out, but I don’t mind because they make everything fresh. We always leave feeling satiated and happy. They’ve truly made it impossible to go to any other Thai restaurant for me!!

Authentic Thai Cuisine with Heart and Flavor. We visited Thailander yesterday and were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and quickly shown to our table – a great start. The food was outstanding: authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates real Thai cooking. The wait for the food could have been a bit shorter, but the restaurant was packed and the kitchen is quite small – totally understandable. If you come here, bring a little patience – you’ll be rewarded with excellent food. Our verdict: A clear recommendation.

It was so good we return the following night! We had 2 fantastic meals at Thailander as well as great service! We travel to Thailand often and it is not common to find such fantastic flavours and dishes outside of the country. We enjoyed the fresh spring rolls, pad kra pao gai, green curry and tom yum soup over the 2 meals. The prices are very reasonable for Europe and large portions! Definitely recommend and would return !

Excellent service, excellent food, good menu selection. This place serves real Thai taste food, confirmed by myself ( a Thai ) and my other Thai friends 👍👍 Highly recommend if you look for Thai restaurant in Porto.

Just so good! Probably the most authentic Thai I’ve had in Portugal. Service is so attentive and it genuinely tastes like the dishes you get served in Thailand. Well done!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was craving Thai food in Porto and found Thailander! I had the glass noodle salad & Pad Kra Pao, both were delicious. They even asked me if I wanted it „thai“ spicy and it truly was, in the best way!! The flavors and aromas reminded me so much of home. Also loved the Thai iced tea, super refreshing. Highly recommend this place if you want authentic Thai food in Porto! Khop khun ka 🙏🏼

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Thailander. The food was authentic, full of flavor, and simply delicious. I especially appreciated that every wok dish could be prepared gluten-free, which made it so easy to enjoy without any worries. The option to choose the level of spiciness for each dish was a great touch. Everything was just perfect – highly recommended! Definitely coming back! 😍
Alexa K — Google review
We stayed at Porto for two nights only and we went there both nights for dinner. The food was absolutely perfect. I’ve been to many Thai restaurants in the U.S. and I can say that Thailander beats all of them. The flavors are just so vibrant and delicious. The ingredients are fresh. The mango sticky rice is out of this world. After going there the first night, we immediately decided that we need to go back the next day

Chinese restaurant
Asian restaurant
Restaurant
The first Chinese restaurant in Porto, named Restaurante Chines, opened in 1966 near the Luiz Bridge. It quickly became a popular attraction for locals and visitors due to its exoticness. Despite initial hesitation, locals were reassured when they saw the chef shopping at Bolhao Market. The restaurant is known for its delicious food, satisfactory service, and affordable prices. However, it should be noted that not everyone has a strong preference for Chinese cuisine.
We were there after the sunset viewing across the bridge and craving for some noodles and familiar Chinese food. They were right there when we got off the bridge. Although they were busy the lady in charge was kind enough to bring us to a seat. The food was all cooked fresh and served hot.
Marie D — Google review
It’s a lovely “old school” Chinese restaurant. The food was fresh, tasty and reasonably priced, and the service great. It’s a very touristy location, near the main sunset spot in Jardim Morro, but don’t let that stop you. I’ve been twice and will go again.
Juli S — Google review
I cannot outright say this is not real Chinese food, but it is a budget imitation of what I am used to. The peeking duck was just roasted duck, it was good however, and the highlight of our meal. The flavors of our dishes were almost there but way too bitter or vinegary. Also, rice noodles are not vermicelli noodles where I come from. The chili fish was lacking flavor or any real chili crisp, peppers, or anything that would clarify it as chili fish. There may have been better stuff then what we ordered, but I won't be returning here to try them. Highly disappointed.
Chris — Google review
The food was delicious and the staff, especially Jeff, was so kind. Noticing that we enjoy spicy food, he even made a special chili sauce just for us. It made our trip even more enjoyable.
Kwangjune K — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience here was very disappointing. We informed the staff clearly at the start of our meal that someone in our group has a shrimp and peanut allergy, yet when they ordered the spicy and sour soup, there was a shrimp in it. This is not only careless, but also dangerous. On top of that, the food quality was poor. The rice was bland and lacked any flavour, the duck was overcooked and dry, and the only dish worth mentioning were the fried noodles, which were decent but nothing special. I usually don’t eat Chinese food while on vacation but I was with my elderly parents who craved familiar cuisine.
Marla C — Google review
We ordered this on a whim as we had a long day walking the city. While we did take-away, I’d note that the staff seemed nice. That said, the food was simply not good. While we didn’t expect it to be the same as what we have where we’re from, this just didn’t hit at all. The sweet and sour chicken was soggy and the fried rice was fairly flavorless. At least the meal was on the less expensive side, but I’m not sure how this has 4 stars.
Matthew R — Google review
Thank you for let us dine in on the last hour before closing, but the food was not okey. All tasted the same: sweet and sour duck, sweet and sour chicken, chicken noodles. The taste and the level of fat, that I never experienced before. Was it soya bean oil everywhere?? I don't know. Two guys, waiters, were nice. The service was super fast. Children have eaten everything. I will remember that strange odor for a long time though.
Kate K — Google review
I had a great experience at this Chinese restaurant. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and the service was very friendly by Danilo. My favorite dish was the beef on the hot iron plate, tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I would definitely recommend this place to friends who enjoy authentic and tasty Chinese cuisine.

Peixe no Mercado, located in Bolhão, offers a top-notch seafood dining experience in an upscale yet relaxed setting. The chic wicker furniture and dipped lighting create an ambient atmosphere, while the balcony area provides a lively vibe on pleasant days. The menu features exquisite seafood dishes such as Grilled Octopus and Tuna Tartare, both praised for their perfect seasoning and refreshing flavors.
We chose this restaurant for a dinner with friends and were very satisfied with our choice. We were attended by Luís, who was very professional and friendly and recommended the best dishes for us to share. He also helped with choosing our wine, which made the dining experience even better. All the dishes are very well prepared and have unique flavors. This is definitely a place worth returning to 😁

We came across this place when we all in 4 were looking for something to eat. That was our first restaurant experience in Porto. A manager found a place for us, which was great. The staff were taking care of is, but only till mid of our consumption. Food was great, and we were very happy about its freshness, quality. You can check that on photos. We were however unsatisfied about those things: 1. Prices were high, we saw that in menu, but wanted to try. However we were not informed those prices were net, not gross (with tax). Therefore at the end prices were to high. 2. We were being cares until mid of the middle of the meal. Then no. 3. The extra service charge was added to the final bill what is funny, on the receipt was “suggested”, but we felt there was no decision on us, it was just added. Nice place, good kitchen, but overpriced.
Jerzy S — Google review
I got the oysters with kimchi and scallions and the sea bass fish. Oysters were great but can be considered pricey since there was only 2. In absolutely loved the fish with the potatoes. The potatoes were well baked- nice and crispy and the fish was also nice and crispy. And people around me thought so. One couple sat down after seeing the fish!
Kourtney B — Google review
Food was absolutely excellent. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was helpful, but a little difficult at times to get their attention. Restaurant is located on the upper level of the Mercado do Bolhão.
Sam S — Google review
Food is average. The french toast was very nice, but the brown crab, being the most pricy dish, was disappointing. The 2 main dishes are also ok. Other charges are adnormally high including the tap water, the bread, etc. looks like they target on tourist only and won't expect any returned customers. Regarding the service, the male staff who served us was nice. But another lady staff was not friendly at all. We arrived 5 mins earlier and waited outside in front of the door. The lady has spotted us the whole time and sharp at 1300, she turned the signature from 'close' to 'open' and then walked away. We then opened the door and her face was not unhappy at all, like doesn't welcome us at all.
KEN Y — Google review
A rather disappointing experience, especially considering the price point. I visited here for my last lunch in Porto, expecting a special and memorable meal — but unfortunately, it fell short in many ways. Firstly, the service was noticeably lacking. While other tables received regular attention from the staff, my table was left completely unattended throughout the meal. No one came to ask if everything was fine or if I needed anything, which felt careless for a place charging this level of pricing. Secondly, although I had high hopes for the food given the modern presentation and pricing (with starters over 13 euros), the dishes were overwhelming in flavor — overly salty, heavily seasoned, and covered in strong sauces like sriracha mayo that masked the quality of the ingredients. In a country like Portugal, where beautiful and fresh ingredients are so abundant, this approach felt like a missed opportunity. I ended up spending nearly 60 euros for a solo lunch, but neither the food nor the service felt worth that price. Finally, if you are someone who has experienced fine dining in culinary capitals like London, New York, or Melbourne, you may find this place — and perhaps much of Porto’s fine dining scene — a bit underwhelming. Rather than seeking fine dining here, I would recommend focusing on simple, rustic local dishes that showcase Portugal’s amazing ingredients in a more honest and authentic way. In short, for the price, the experience and food did not meet expectations.
Imi G — Google review
Excellent quality and technique. Everything was delicious - fresh, clean and honest. The clams, simple grilled fish and the pasta with raw baby shrimp and mussels in a sea urchin sauce; amazing. One of my best meals in Portugal.
Sean O — Google review
Overall: Great food but pricey with sketchy service. Cheeseboard is amazing. To start, we had the cod cakes (Portuguese speciality), which were great and the potato millefeuille with tuna. This was one of the tastiest potato dishes I've ever eaten! Mains, the tiger prawn and squid skewer, which comes with some beautiful herby, buttery potatoes. Also the hake tempura with razor clam rice. Really good...the rice is beautifully zesty and the fish perfectly cooked. To finish, a cheeseboard to beat all others...3 cheeses in perfect quantities to share between 2. One of them was so ripe it was trying to escape the plate. To drink, a beer to kick off, then 2 glasses of wine each and a port with the cheese, all great. Sadly, a bit let down by the service. Whilst everyone was very friendly, no-one seemed to be in charge - there was a bit of a chaotic vibe and this meant we were left waiting for up to ten minutes at points and had to get up and ask to order some more drinks. It put a bit of a downer on the experience, which is a shame because the food was so good. Hopefully, they were just having an off night! Also, a touch on the pricey side for Portugal. Bill was €140, which is easily the most expensive meal we've had in Portugal. The food was a cut above, but expect a 5 star experience for the price.

Restaurant
OLÁ VIETNAM RESTAURANT offers a delightful journey through the flavors of Vietnam. The Pho is a standout, with its rich broth and delicate blend of spices and herbs. The menu features authentic dishes like Bun Nem and Bun Cha, providing a true taste of Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant's attentive service and spacious patio create a pleasant dining experience. Additionally, the diverse dessert selection includes traditional Vietnamese treats, while the range of teas, including Butterfly Tea, adds to the unique experience.
We were walking past this restaurant one evening and a couple went out of their way to tell us how nice this was so we had to come back the day after and try it out! They were not lying! The food portions were massive and broths seasoned perfectly with generous portions of meat. There was no music inside so it did kind of feel like a quiet atmosphere at times but overall was improving the busier it got.

I am so glad we found this little gem in Porto. If you are a soup lover as me you gotta try their Pho. The meat was so soft, packed of flavour but at same time light perfect for a dinner. The service was so gentle and nice. The outside space has a great calming atmosphere which tele-transport you outside of the noise of the city. This is going to be a spot where we will always be back. Thanks!

Kind Kitchen is a popular vegetarian restaurant in Porto that offers a variety of delicious bowls inspired by Middle Eastern and Asian flavors. In addition to their signature bowls, the restaurant also serves starters such as tofu nuggets with barbecue sauce, avocado dip, and homemade hummus. The menu features a range of vegan options including burgers, toasties, wraps, and salads. Kind Kitchen is known for its relaxed atmosphere and also offers gluten-free choices.
Kind Kitchen is an absolutely fantastic plant-based restaurant in Porto. I was recommended to visit here by my Airbnb host, and honestly, couldn't be more thankful to her for telling me about this place. The food is sensational and worth the money. The vegan egg was a magical experience for me, as a vegan myself, I've been wanting to try this for ages, and it was truly amazing. The drinks were gorgeous as well! Highly recommend the Passion fruit and thyme aperol. Staff were so so friendly too. Best restaurant in Porto.

A really good plant based restaurant. A great and varied choice of food options, and reasonably priced. I ended up going 3 times during my stay in Porto. Each visit deliciously satisfying. The staff welcoming and friendly.

Kind Kitchen deserves five stars for its amazing pastéis de nata, lovely staff and pleasant atmosphere alone. The main courses (francesinha and chimichuri steak) were oversalted but the vegan pastel and the vegan affogato were an experience unlike any other in Porto. The place feels welcoming in terms of decor and also very much thanks to the staff, and the location is great.

Lovely vegan restaurant. Yummy pastel de Natis (but quite pricey at 2.50 each but similar to some other vegan places.) Huge portion of chips to share - big portions in general. Staff are lovely. Interior is lovely. Not a lot of fresh things on the menu but what we had we enjoyed!

Excellent place, the food is scrumptious, the whole "kindness" vibe is real and lovely to witness. I have been there twice and we had 4 different dishes, all of it heavenly cooked. The tea and lemonade doesn't come with sugar, but they have if you ask and even better, they offered me Agave which is delicious and healthier than sugar. Love the place. Recently got the try the dessert for the first time, and the cheesecake was beyond any expectations. Vegan and absolutely out of this world.

Tasty vegan Francesinha - we loved the sauce! Don’t skip dessert: DELICIOUS cheesecake, light, not too sweet, perfect base with hints of saltiness, and the chocolate mousse was also a highlight! Good espresso

I’d start by saying this would be 3.5 if Google allowed. Very nice venue, chilled vibe, staff lovely and prompt. No real AC to speak of and wooden chairs without a cushion on is one of my biggest hates in restaurants. Now to the meal: White wine sangria: Delicious, very refreshing and good value for money! 4/5 Nachos starter: easily the best vegan nachos I’ve ever had. Portion size isn’t huge but still delicious. 5/5 Seitan burger with bacon: the burger was excellent and the chips were delightful. 4/5 Francesinha: no reflection on the restaurant for this one as I just do not enjoy this meal ( I didn’t get it, partner did). There’s just too much going on. 1/5 Crazy vegan egg: this thing blew my mind. How they managed to replicate an egg so accurately is beyond me. Even smelled like an egg. 6/5 Brownie with ice cream: this thing was tragic. Brownie is served at room temperature and was so so dry / stale. Ice cream was nice that went on top Overall I’d say 3.5/5 but more places like this need to stay open so I’ll say a 4 overall.

Ondo Korean Kitchen is a cozy diner that offers a wide range of authentic and delicious Korean comfort food. From bibimbap to kimbap, tteokbokki, fried chicken, and kimchi fried rice, the menu is filled with flavorful options. The off-menu kimchi soup is a must-try for those who can handle the spice. Despite not being listed on the menu, it's highly recommended by locals.
During my ‘sick week’ I watched Asian (and Korean) cooking competitions on TV, then I did a review of restaurants in Porto and went to this one for a tasting 🥢. The food was amazing. And the staff were super friendly. It was very welcoming. The boss quickly greeted us once we stepped in. She also went around to all the tables to greet and check if we needed anything. Tons of local Portuguese, and Koreans old and young came in. We knew it would be good food even before ordering. We ordered definitely too much for two people but we ate every last bite. It was just that good. We were too full so we said maybe no ice cream with the Hottoek. The boss recommended the dessert with ice cream, so we had to add it. We left super full but also super satisfied. If we were to stay a few more days we def would have come back

We ordered the soy honey chicken, grandmas kimchi stew, 6 handmade meat dumplings, Omu rice, dol sot bi bim bap and the salad Kim bap. And everything was SO delicious & authentic! The sauces were all very good too and we just wanted to keep eating more! My Portuguese mother in law liked it too! I can’t wait to come back. So so good! 😊 I only had the omu rice photo. The rice was saucy with this sauce that was a bit sweet and tangy and cheesy. It went really well with the kimchi stew. I think Ondo’s kimchi stew is the best I’ve had in Portugal.

I ordered the vegetarian burger, which usually comes with a side of rice and salad. But they were able to substitute the salad for fried vegetables, which was nice. Overall, I would say good quality food at a very reasonable price (I believe my burger order was less than 4 euros). And the staff was very friendly and the place had a nice, local vibe. The waiter almost forgot my order and also forgot to bring me the bill, and I would like to think it was because it was an unusually busy afternoon.

Great food, great place, great service. The kitchen is a somewhat fusion and we recommend sharing the food to taste the variety of dishes. Menu looks simple but the food is really refined. One of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was amazing, the atmosphere, the service, but especially the food. I can’t understand the bad reviews here. This place is great! Good wine and knowledge about it. I tried the chef’s fish tasting menu and was not disappointed. Great salmon strawberry tartare, tender and delicious octopus and a lime pie to die for. Paired with their home made limoncello for which I tried desperately to get the recipe 😁. Overall maybe a bit pricier than other places on the region but in my opinion not at all beyond reason. Go for it - you won’t be disappointed!

Tried this vegan bakery on my first day and wasn't able to find a better matcha in town. The plant based milks are home made, and delicious. I had the blueberry matcha and I was obsessed. Also the pastries were so yummy, and the owner is so friendly, she helped me find vegan restaurants in Porto for my stay.

I recently visited My Green Pastry in Porto and was genuinely impressed. The place has a fresh, welcoming vibe — you immediately feel at ease the moment you walk in. The pastry chef explained the ingredients and the process with genuine enthusiasm, which added to the experience. We tried the flan (a standout!), which was beautifully balanced and full of flavour. The coffee was excellent as well, the visit feel thoughtful and inclusive. Everything is vegan, fully from scratch, and uses local fresh produce — so the quality is clear. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We asked quite a few questions and they answered with patience and warmth, which is always a plus. If you’re in Porto and looking for a dessert-place or café that goes beyond the usual, My Green Pastry is definitely worth a stop. I’ll be going back.

Delicious pastries and the owner is so sweet! 💖 (Always dreaming of going there again to eat their croissants)
Yanxi E — Google review
My Green Pastry is one of the places in Porto where I'm the happiest. The incredible tasty and artisanal french pastries are only possible because Marthe is a force on nature that makes everything from scratch. Some cakes take three days to be done, so if you ever go to MGP, please don't ask for pasteis de nata and don't be a Karen about the price, that I'm certain that does not pay the sleepless hours Marthe spends in the kitchen. The atmosphere is another factor I love at MGP. In a city crammed with instagrammable and tacky coffeeshops, this Parisian corner full of *real* plants and romantic furniture really takes back me to the city of love. If you have the chance to meet this gem, don't skip the quiche, the flan, the croissants and the amazing pain au chocolate.
Ana S — Google review
Very cute small backery with many nice glutenfree desserts! She even makes the vegan milk herself! You really see and feel the love the owner puts in her store! The service is also very good and the desserts are very tasty and change from time to time which shows that she makes everything fresh. The prices are also very good for what you get!

Best French vegan pastry in town! Fine pastry, with high quality ingredients, sweetness always very balanced. They make a brunch once per month, which is also awesome. Highly recommended!

Amazing pastry, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I absolutely recommend My Green Pastry to anyone who appreciates a good dessert made with care and creativity.

I had a wonderful experience at My Green Pastry. Their 100% vegan pastries are delicious and full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great place to unwind, and the staff is incredibly friendly. If you're in the mood for tasty vegan treats, this spot is a must-try!

Ribatejo is a region that boasts a rich culinary heritage, with dishes that tell stories of tradition and flavor. One standout dish is the legendary sopa da pedra, or stone soup, which embodies the heartiness of local cuisine. This delightful concoction showcases the area's ability to transform simple ingredients into something extraordinary.
Excellent meal, first class service. Highlight for me was the way we were looked after by the staff, took time to translate the menu and recommend food and wine. We were the only people there at 7.30 on a Friday night but the place soon filled up with locals. We were all eating the francesinha which was cooked in a wood oven and was very good, large portion, lots of fries and the cook brought me over extra sauce which was very hot and very welcome. The salmon was excellent too and left no room for dessert.. The local wine was very good, a great choice of restaurant.

Excellent friendly service. Ordered a simple dish of grilled chicken steaks. Quite tasty and not too salty. Proper dressing on the salad. Delicious red fruits cheesecake. All round worth it.

The francesinha is very good. (Translated by Google) Nice place, but not properly air-conditioned. Good francinhas, half-eaten option. We ordered the special and shrimp. The shrimp came with raw shrimp, which we sent back, and it arrived in perfect condition. Very good dessert. The wait time isn't too long for the service. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Vegetarian restaurant
Fava Tonka is a vegetarian restaurant located in Leca da Palmeira, Portugal. The chic barn-style interior and hanging pot plants create a visually appealing atmosphere. The menu offers visually-arresting plant-based dishes, carefully prepared by the talented team led by chef Nuno Castro. The restaurant has gained recognition for its fun and intriguing dishes using mostly plant-based ingredients.
An absolutely amazing place. Felt a little rushed to begin with but I get that they want to get the first order in. Food was so GOOD! I mean really good. I was recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. Staff amazingly friendly. Each dish has to be savoured. Enjoyed. The flavour pairings were amazing. I would love to go back for a taster menu with paired wines. In terms of cost, it is very reasonable. I would pay twice this in London or Paris.

Overall: Extremely underwhelming food, but friendly service. Food: We liked the concept of this restaurant, but every single dish was overpriced for what you get. Not only that, but everything lacked flavor. I’ve eaten at many vegetarian restaurants around the world, and I wouldn’t recommend this one—even if the prices were lower. Service: The staff were friendly, which is the only reason this place gets an extra star.
Kieran D — Google review
Every single bite was so unique and absolutely delicious. The depth and layers of flavor were satiating alone. As a self-proclaimed foodie and flavor critic I am always finding where meals can be “elevated” to be more satisfying - these dishes needed nothing. They were all perfectly balanced in flavor, texture and portion. If I could have pushed a button to rewind and have the meal all over again I would have. The ambiance is cozy and earthy, the service was exceptional, the presentation was art and the chef was visibly focused, pouring love and intention into every dish. 10/10 will definitely be back, can not recommend this place enough!!
Kelly O — Google review
Really amazing unique vegetarian food. Totally worth it to come all the way from Porto to get this. The nearby beach is also really nice. I really like how they bring one dish out at a time. It's almost like a build your own tasting menu. My wife and I shared 4 mains + dessert and I think that was the right amount of food to order.
Sandeep V — Google review
What a great dinner. One of the best vegetarian experiences I had in Portugal so far. Celery root with "oyster" sorbet was an amazing starting point, the katso sando and "seathings" rice elevated it a bit more, and the white chocolate and green curry desert was the perfect finish.
Jose M — Google review
Genuinely vegetarian restaurant that takes creativity seriously. The decor is "green" elegant without trying too hard, and the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. We came for a family dinner — reservation was simple to make online and definitely recommended. The chef’s vegetarian creations are original and beautifully presented. We shared six dishes among three people, and each one felt like the new favorite. The cold “Beetroot, gorgonzola, black garlic and lamb’s lettuce” set the tone perfectly, while the warm “Açorda of brioche and tupí, turnip tops and wild mushrooms” was unforgettable. The reimagined Black Forest dessert closed the evening on a high note. Yes, prices are on the upper side, but they’re justified by the ingredient quality, the creativity on the plate, and the level of service. Not a place for meat lovers — this is where vegetables take the spotlight. I only wish there were a restaurant like this closer to home. I’d return without hesitation.

Casa da Horta - Associação Cultural is a unique blend of a traditional Portuguese tavern and modern health-conscious dining. This cozy house and vegetable garden not only offer colorful and vitamin-packed meals but also host various cultural activities focused on nature and the environment, such as debates, workshops, and artistic events. The lunch menu includes soup, main course, and drink at an affordable price.
Casa da Horta is so special! Great food (delish, vegetarian, inexpensive), friendly service, fun atmosphere. Their programs are really fun. It's great that they partner with a number of local organizations to try and enhance good works. I support them completely!

Very chill atmosphere, sort of like an underground wooden and stone cave. The place serves vegan food at ok prices, but pretty bland tastes. Before visiting, we were told the food there is excellent, but seeing that the menu is different every day, maybe it's all about luck. Since this is not solely a restaurant, but an alternative socio-cultural space, it is all self-service. There was a live when we went, with Irish music, which definitely added to the experience.
Dimitra V — Google review
We stumbled upon Casa da Horta for dinner on our last day in Porto and we are so happy we did! We got a drink, soup, and main dish (green curry and rice) for only €10 (cash only btw), and it was delicious! The food came very quickly and it was a nice welcoming atmosphere. They also have a donation area with clothes where you can take articles of clothing as needed. I will definitely be back here next time I’m in Porto!

We went there for a balkan night with a local friend. The place is very cosy, there are delicious vegetarian options and the prices are super fair. There's an alternative and friendly vibe.

An amazing hidden place that is well worth the visit if you're staying in Porto. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the price is amazing. The space is used really well. Me and the misses ate here and we both agreed the food was the right amount. It was delicious and I mean every word of that, the soup was on point. The main dish was served with salad that really went well with it. Food - 10/10 Price - 10/10 Staff - 10/10 Ambiance - 9/10 Go. Try the food and make up your mind. We loved it.

Casa da Horta isn't a restaurant. It isn't just an oasis of vegan food. It's a step towards a better world - one where love and generosity thrive in the place of commerce. I wish the world was more like the kind of world they create within this hidden underground lair in Porto. May it's tribe increase!

Great place. Good food. Loved the homemade Ginger drink and Kombucha. Amazing pricing. Non profit ! Lovely crowd. It's very easy to meet people and have great coversations. And the musicians at the Folk Music Jam gifted us some beautiful tunes.

I rarely given bad reviews since the places I visited mostly were in good experience for me, but for this place I will start with 1 star. I went here last week for Indonesian food theme with some of my colleagues. Cons: 1. I got jackpot by finding LONG HAIR on my fried banana🤢🤢🤢 2. The waiting time for our food to be served on the table was unacceptable. We were waiting for more than 1 hour which was insane. My friend came with her son (8 years old) and he wad already without hungry when the food arrived!!! 3. We were a bit disappointed when the food served. It was cold. Nasi goreng had no taste and some rice were not mixed well. Tempe had no taste and the tofu was hard to bite. Gado-gado needed more sauce. The sauce was too sweet. The problem of tempe and tofu was the same. 4. We cannot have mobile network while inside the restaurant. 5. The entrance food should be served better. It seemed like someone already ate it. Pros: 1. The staffs were nice and friendly. 2. The restaurant had a cozy and great atmosphere and ambience. 3. Free restroom. 4. Free wifi. 5. There are some books to read for free. 6. Games to play for free. 7. Entrance accessible for wheelchair. 8. Cash only. 9. Great place to have vegan food. 10. The price is quite fair for its portion.

Nestled within the bustling marketplace of Matosinhos, Mafalda's is a charming café and restaurant that promises to elevate your Saturday brunch experience. This cozy spot offers an enticing a la carte menu alongside a set menu featuring delightful dishes like shakshuka, roasted pepper hummus on toast, and scrumptious scones with homemade jam. Each week brings a fresh brunch selection inspired by the vibrant produce available in the market.
Wow! The food was amazing and the quality of the fish added extra flavour, I really appreciated the explanation behind the weekly menu and the staff was overall great. Highly recommended

Incredible fusion and balance of flavors. You can have a “menu of the day” for ~13 euros which changes daily. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. I had a salad with tomato and watermelon that was one of the best bites I’ve had all summer. It seems a little bit off the path if you’re visiting Porto, but definitely worth the visit. Thanks for such an amazing experience!

Amazing place for weekday lunch and Saturday brunch. To me, this is a pretty unique place. Changing the menu every day is a lot of work. I had a wine bar, and the charging menu even seasonally was a really headache. I would say most of the times combinations work. The only recommendation would be to dare more with seasoning and spices.
Mamuka M — Google review
A different lunch menu with very tasty food and amazing dessert every day, and very nice people. The moqueca was great and the chocolate lava cake to die for. Highly recommended for a simple but filling and delicious lunch.

Mafalda’s, tucked away inside Mercado de Matosinhos, is a charming spot with a welcoming vibe. Remember to place your order beforehand, as it’s a popular local favorite. The dishes are outstanding, featuring generous portions and thoughtfully selected ingredients that deliver authentic, delightful flavors. Though it might not be an absolute must-visit destination, if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop - you won’t regret it. I tried their veggie lasagna and instantly fell in love with it; the taste was simply exceptional. Mafalda’s offers a genuinely enjoyable dining experience that leaves you satisfied and eager to return.

My wife and I have traveled a lot together in Portugal, so when we say that this is probably our favorite place for lunch here in this beautiful country, that might be saying something. Definitely stop by Mafalda's when you are in Porto - and more specifically in the characteristic harbor district of Matosinhos - you will really not regret it. Original recipes, not expensive at all, super healthy and very friendly: everything a person could want.
