Portuguese restaurant
O Buraco is a traditional restaurant in the heart of Porto, near the famous Bolhao market. With over 50 years of history, this establishment offers authentic Portuguese cuisine at reasonable prices. The menu features classic dishes such as boiled cabeca de pescada, carapaus de escabeche, and figado de cebolada. Additionally, daily specials like feijoada a Buraco and tripas a Buraco showcase regional flavors.
probably one of the best restaurants in Porto. If looking for genuine Portuguese cuiscine, this is the absolutely place. serving hours are 1200-1500, 1900 -2300, it is always fully packed, need to queue up for tables. It can seat about 70 guests, but got very few waiters so they are really busy and rushing all the time. But the kitchen is very quick. First time I went, not knowing they only serve tripa fridays and saturdays. So ending up I had the famous Portuguese sausage Alheira, which is not my cup of tea. Went again and finally had the awesome Tripas a Moda do Porto. Incredibly tasty and tender, even the rice is flavorful and well cooked. I will return again. On the 3rd visit, I had duck rice. O Buraco is definitely the best..

Incredible food. Literally the tastiest most filling chicken and salad I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding and so was the food/drinks. The highlight was the cheesecake recommended by our server, which I have thought about loads since eating. This was definitely worth the queue (only a short one).
Izi T — Google review
Got this recommendation after putting into Gemini: authentic, value for money, Portuguese traditional restaurant. This restaurant came up on top. So popular we had to wait outside to get a table. Service is better than it seems. It was full so we got a corridor table which was fine. There were more tables in the basement. Food was great. Tasty and efficient. Waiter recommended that we didn't over order as portions were generous. Ordered soups. Had the biftek and the cod buraco. Both lovely. Topped up the vinho verde with some tawny port after dessert. Came to be €65 for 2
Steven H — Google review
Great food, good price and good portion size. The menu is not big but everything we had was very good. They serve mostly fish and some meat dishes. I did not notice anything with crab, shrimp, clam or mussels. Come before 7:30 if you can or you might have to wait outside.
Bill C — Google review
Came here 3 times because I can’t find another place with better price/quality. Duck rice, fried sardines were great. Wish they can make the Wednesday special (meat and bean stew) available everyday. Service is average not that welcoming, but at least efficient.
Jem C — Google review
O Buraco offers authentic, local Portuguese cuisine that truly delights. Their bean rice and sardines are standout dishes we absolutely love. The prices are very reasonable, making it the perfect spot to enjoy genuine flavors while avoiding typical tourist traps. Don’t miss their special sangrias, available in sparkling and berry varieties, which set them apart from other places.
V C — Google review
Excellent food, big portions and fast service. The prices are very cheap and I think everything is homemade. The rice was a side dish included in the price of the fish.
Lorenzo B — Google review
We didn't have time to taste it for a longer time, but the salmon was very good, the restaurant was packed just moments after opening, which is a good sign

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Mercado do Bolhão is a historic, two-level market housed in a neoclassical building that opened in central Porto in 1917. It has become an iconic city landmark with its charming faded grandeur and family-run stalls offering fresh produce, meats, fish, sausages, flowers, and local crafts. Visitors can enjoy a multisensory experience as they wander through narrow corridors filled with colorful sights and enticing aromas.
This market was absolutely excellent! The variety of food on offer is incredible everything from dried and fresh foods to vibrant fruits, drinks, and even plants. There were plenty of samples to taste, which made the visit even more enjoyable. It’s a real feast for the senses and a great spot to explore. Definitely a must-see, and a perfect place to stop for a delicious lunch. Highly recommended!
Duncan A — Google review
It’s a huge market that has everything from meat, fish, wine, and souvenirs to artist market. It’s directly connected to the train station so you can access it quite easily. It definitely has an element of tourist trap with certain dishes and goods, but I also saw plenty of locals simply grocery shopping. I personally loved the seafood and the ham. They also have insanely cheap glasses of wine so be careful if you’re going to be drinking! But it’s a must visit place for me in Porto
Scott L — Google review
Mercado do Bolhão is one of the highlights of Porto and a must-visit if you want to experience the city’s flavours in one place. The market is spotless, beautifully restored, and full of life. From the moment you step inside, you are surrounded by stalls offering fresh fish, fragrant olives, local olive oils, fresh fruit, fruit juices, meats, and brilliantly packed sardines that make perfect gifts. We purchased some olives and a bottle of white wine and enjoyed them right there in the market. Walking around with a glass of crisp wine while tasting the olives and chatting with vendors felt both authentic and relaxing. The fishmongers and food stalls are a delight to explore, and you will also find stores selling handicrafts, so it really has a little bit of everything. What stood out most to me was the balance between tradition and modern comfort. You get the energy of a traditional Portuguese market, but in a clean, organised, and welcoming space. Whether you come to taste, shop, or just soak in the atmosphere, Mercado do Bolhão is worth your time.
Ali M — Google review
Lovely indoor market with a wide range of produce aimed mainly at tourists. Fabulous to be able to buy a glass of wine etc in a real glass and wander around the stalls. Places to sit and eat the wide range of foods available. Stall holders were very pleasant and helpful. Good range of products that are hard to source at home and generally good vfm. What was disappointing was that none of the foods on sale were out for you to sample. It’s the first market I have visited where this was the case. Usually there are plates with little samples on so you can taste before you buy. Very clean and everything very well presented.
Elviera L — Google review
This is an amazing market set over two levels of a square building with an open entrée. There are two galleries that run around the edges which have shops selling jewelry, ceramics, handbags, and other examples of Portuguese cross friendship. The bottom level is dedicated to foods, beverages, flowers, and other produce, including meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. This is a fantastic building and worthy of a visit.
G M — Google review
Sa e some time for a visit to this market. Stunning array of cured meets and seafood ready for tasting. Wine of course too. I had some of the largest oysters to eat. Easy to find and right off from the metro.
Jan B — Google review
This is a must visit place in Porto. A large indoor marketplace with restaurants housed in a renovated old building. There is a lot to see and to taste. Vegetables, fruit and fresh juice, fresh fish, famous canned sardines, special coffee, olive oil and olives, flowers, wines including port of course, perfumes and hand-made souvenirs to buy. Often, you can meet a performing artist (or a group).
Jadwiga E — Google review
This is a great local market featuring fresh seafood and diverse offerings. Just be aware that the operating hours for the restaurants on the top floor are separate from the main market's closing time.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Ribeira neighborhood, Taberna dos Mercadores is a cozy and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. Despite its small size, the place is always bustling, so it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. The attentive staff adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features delectable dishes such as octopus specialties and grilled sea bass, complemented by an extensive selection of high-quality wines.
We had to wait for about 30-40 minutes before we got a table. The staff came out during this time and told us they can’t guarantee a place for us and that larger groups might have to sit separately. If you can reserve a table as otherwise you might not be able to taste their delicious food. We had the octopus with its rice as well as the steak with the sausage rice. We shared a mixed salad for a starter. The food arrived in time and was delicious. It was worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and polite. It’s worth a visit and with just 16 seats one of the smaller restaurants we have been. Highly recommend but be prepared either to wait or reserve a spot.
Marc S — Google review
This is a very touristy place. The space is very small and at a time only 16 people can be seated. We arrived 45 minutes before opening and were 6th in line. We tried the oven-baked octopus rice and the salt-crusted seabass. The seabass was excellent, 10/10. The oven-baked octopus rice was 7/10. The people working there are very nice. The lady who took our order told us our initial order would be too much food, which was such a kind gesture. Overall, if you have an hour to spare, I would say try this restaurant.
Samiul A — Google review
By far the best restaurant in Porto. There will be a wait so be prepared but it’s well worth it. My tip is be there early. Restaurant seats 14 people. Reminds me of the quaint restaurants in the Boston North End. The food was stunningly and delicious. I ordered the garlic shrimp, Seafood Açorda and Apple Meringue pie. All amazing and all suggested by the owner who is amazingly kind and attentive. I was a single traveler and made to feel right at home and welcomed.
Donald N — Google review
This was my favourite meal in Portugal, the food was so good! I liked the octopus rice and sea bream best, followed by the seafood rice. They have very limited seating inside (~16 seats) so there was a long wait. They opened at 12:30 and our group arrived at 12:05, and we barely missed entering in the first wave. We ended up waiting over 1.5 hours. They don’t guarantee group seating for groups larger than 2 so our group of 4 ended up getting split into 2 groups. They accept credit card.
Ellen H — Google review
We came for the second time and the most impressive dishes is the beef steak with rice! Of course, other must order dishes sea bass (with fire), clams, octopus and the potato soup. An average of 1-1.5 hours waiting time, and worth for the queue if you look for authentic and high quality of food.
V C — Google review
I arrived around 1:30pm ish and I waited about 30 mins to be seated. I was by myself and the staff/owner was so accommodating and friendly. I got the octopus dish with rice and the portion was way too generous. Apple pie was really good, nostalgic and had the right balance! Worth the wait 😊
Jisu K — Google review
The signature salt-grilled fish was really fresh, and the flame grilling was quite a show. The garlic clams were just average. We waited almost an hour and a half for a table—there are only eight tables with sixteen seats. The place doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere, but the food came out pretty quickly.
Patricia T — Google review
I would say it's a must-try if you come to Porto. The taste of octopus rice is unforgettable. The crunchy flavored rice is lovely and the octopus is soft and slightly firm with a pleasant chewiness. The size is suitable for 2 people. My friend and I had waited for an hour, and it's

DOP is a modern and spacious restaurant located near the Ribeira in Porto, run by renowned Portuguese Chef Rui Paula. The elegant interior design and well-stocked wine cellar create a sophisticated atmosphere. The menu, which changes frequently, features dishes like monkfish with Mondego rice and seafood or suckling pig with potatoes and cider sauce. Guests may have the chance to interact with Chef Rui Paula himself.
Had an epic experience here! Was able to get a reservation the day of and was so happy I did. Went for the 14 moments and it was perfectly portioned - was never too full or too hungry. Loved the variety and creativity with the food. It was visually stunning + delicious. I also got the wine pairing with the moments and that was so fun. The staff was so helpful with teaching me about Portuguese wines and explaining more about the wines on the map in the menu. I’m still thinking about this experience months after my trip! Highly recommend DOP.
Bailey E — Google review
Cozy place with amazing foods and services! Love all dishes there. Even the fresh chocolates they gave us as a gift after meal were super yummy. Beautiful and high end restaurant. The chef created great vegan options. We had unforgettable experience in DOP Porto. Must try! Highly recommend and definitely want to come back if we visit Porto again.
Huyen D — Google review
In summary falls short of what is promised, OK but overpriced. I will explain. The staff are very welcoming and attentive, from start to finish. The decor and atmosphere on the ground floor looked very nice, unfortunately we were placed on the first floor which is nothing special, and where the air conditioning was blowing too hard (despite it having been reduced to a minimum on asking the staff). Now to the food: The amuse bouche served in the reception area was delicious. A little Thai inspired shrimp seasoned and wrapped in a leaf, accompanied by a small coup of white rum with lime juice and jalapino oil. As described just to awaken the taste buds... We selected the 6 dish option, with me taking the wine pairing in addition. Whilst waiting for the first dish we had a glass of sparkling wine, which was quite nice, slightly yeast nose, light and crisp on the palate. The first dish was a trio of (with the ordering in which to eat given by the waiter): small cones of cod, very nice; trompe l'œil oyster shell which was edible and to be spread with the ball of oyster infused butter served as a small ball in the center of the "shell", this was greasy, the shell lacking flavour, so not a success; and finally spinach and wild garlic puree with a fried thin potatoe disk on top, the flavour of the puree was good, but the disk moistened by the puree was difficult to cut through so I folded it up to eat it, it added nothing other than frustration to an otherwise lovely dish. While waiting for the next disk we were served a sesame cracker (nicely spiced) with an artichoke puree, with olive oil and sourdough bread. All of this was delicious, the olive oil exceptional. The second dish was their "standout dish" (guide Michelin terme) of squid carbonara, squid tagliatelle, quail egg yolk, and smoked squid cubes. Indeed this dish stood out from the others, refined flavours, great textures. The third dish, langoustine with yellow Thai curry sauce and kafir oil drops, cauliflower toasted disk and cauliflour puree, this was lovely. Bright distinct flavours, just the cauliflour puree that in comparison was bland and added nothing other than volume to the dish. The fourth dish of cod and a vegetable spaghetti topped with shell fish and served with a spinach sauce was a dish of contrasts, the vegetable spaghetti was superbly seasoned, so much so that the cod in comparison whilst perfectly cooked was bland. A shame. The the fifth dish of quail, nicely cooked with a delicious sauce and lemon flavoured rice shaped pasta, was spoilt by serving it with fried cake which completely overpowered the other delicate and sumptuous flavours. The sixth course desert of chocolate with a vanilla and black garlic ice cream was excellent. And the wine pairing, of a sweet desert wine excellent. Thus in contrast to the wine pairings of the other dishes, not that they did not complement well, but that there was so little flavour in the other wines that frankly I would have been better off with water (I do not recommend taking the wine pairing offer because of this and the very small servings with each dish). And after that we were served a pair of sweets (chocolate truffle and an almond cake?), very good.

Oof - wish I had read the reviews and paid attention to the cancellation policy in the restaurant before booking. We were seated at one of the nicest tables in the restaurant (round window on the ground floor) but that is where it ended. Sadly one of the worst fine dining experiences I have had anywhere in the world. They have plenty of staff but its chaos - it takes them ages (40min+) to refill your drinks, Half of what we were served as vegetarians was actually inedible (neither my teeth nor my knife could make it through one of their courses). Underseasoned food and bizarre combinations. No protein anywhere for a vegetarian of course. Worse still - as soon as the feedback is not over the top complimentary (and we were very soft and kind in giving the feedback) - the service levels drop immediately. It is simply outrageously expensive for the quality of food and service they provide and I cannot honestly recommend it for anyone - especially not if you are vegetarian. By the end of the evening as we did not leave a tip for the total lack of service on our 300eur bill - we showed ourselves out of the restaurant. We took it as fun and a learning experience - but I wish we had listened when warned by our Portuguese friends that this a total tourist trap. I hope this review helps others avoid the experience we had XD. Plenty of other wonderful restaurants in Porto (Oma, Seiva, Em Carne...) that we tried - go there instead lol.
Kavita J — Google review
We enjoyed our experience here, but i will say it was good not great. Some dishes were really delicious, like the one with the red prawns. Others were unremarkable or had a strange pairing. I think they still have a few things to work out before they could be considered really great. Unfortunately, it was also the most expensive meal we had on our trip.

DOP Restaurant in Porto combines the charm of a 14th-century building with contemporary design. The interior features sleek lines, warm lighting, and an intimate ambiance, making it ideal for both romantic dinners and special occasions. The restaurant’s location in Porto’s city center places it near landmarks like the Clérigos Tower and the Ferreira Borges Market, adding to its appeal. Chef Rui Paula, a prominent figure in Portuguese gastronomy, leads DOP with a focus on elevating traditional Portuguese cuisine. His approach emphasizes the use of local ingredients and classic techniques, reimagined with a contemporary twist. The tasting menu, titled Não há futuro sem memória (“There’s No Future Without Memory”), offers a journey through Portugal’s rich culinary heritage. DOP’s tasting menu features dishes that showcase the depth of Portuguese flavors. Highlights include: Squid Carbonara: A reinterpretation of the classic pasta dish, using squid to mimic the texture of tagliatelle. Sea Bass in its Habitat: A dish that presents the fish in a bouillabaisse-style preparation, highlighting its natural flavors. Duck Leg with Truffle Purée: Tender duck complemented by a rich truffle purée, showcasing the depth of Portuguese meats. The wine pairings are carefully selected to complement each course, enhancing the overall dining experience. One more thing about DOP restaurant achieved Michelin title in 2024

In my life, I have never experienced a plate, mud, and pot served in a so-called gourmet restaurant. DOP Porto completely ruined my evening with my wife on her birthday eve. I will never return to this place. The only saving grace was my lovely wife, who remained calm and smiled despite the staff’s shocking ignorance about the food. Needless to say, the dishes were inedible. Forget Michelin stars—DOP Porto rates a solid minus five in my book.
Jagdish B — Google review
Michelin Star? A dinning experience where the chef choices your food. From 6, 10 or 14 moments. There is no disputing the creativity, preparation and work that went into the dishes. Supposedly a fusion of tradition Portuguese food with an Asian hint. In reality a confusion of textures and flavours. There was no ‘Wow’ factor with the dishes, no moments where the flavours hits your tongue and you nod in appreciation. It was all rather ordinary, nothing outstanding. The recommended wine a ‘sparkling wine’ tasted like a cheap cava. The staff, while professional and knowledgeable, seemed transfixed in their service, there was no eye contact, no smiles, not very welcoming and not adding to the experience. Very functional. Overall, a disappointing, ordinary and expensive experience. There are so many fine dining restaurants in Porto. I’d suggest you look around and go to one of those. I’m sure you will have a far superior flavoursome meal, at a venue with a better atmosphere, more cheerful staff and save yourself a lot of euros. Overall a disappointing dining experience with many ordinary moments.

Conga is a down-to-earth restaurant in Porto, known for its pork sandwiches, draft beers, and wine. The eatery offers a variety of gastronomic treasures, with specialties like tender pulled pork marinated in garlic and spice served in bifanas buns. The menu also features steaks accompanied by potatoes and thin dishes that leave patrons more than satisfied without emptying their wallets.
The food was fantastic!!!!! Bifana (pork burger) costs only €3.5 and they are so tasty, so yummy!!!! Steak was only €14 and very good! FRANCESINHA COM BIFE DO VAZIO was so yummy. It's a local food and cheap, voluminous, and meaty!!! Highly recommended! The service was good. Fast, hospitable, nice, and efficient. Very good locally based, cheap place but great food place!

If you can look past the loud tourists, the bifanas are truly yummy. I love the spice and how fresh they were. The vegetable soup was very good too. Nice job!
Marilynn — Google review
The restaurant had a simple but pleasant atmosphere. Servers were pleasant and friendly. The sandwich was tasty and very well priced, the only thing I didn’t like was that the sauce made the roll soggy on some parts. I do not like soggy bread but great concept and worth trying out!
Mary G — Google review
Update: I ended up coming here 4x during my 3-day trip to Porto. It was really addictive. Lovely bifanas! This was a great accidental find. We came here after having a racist experience at the Piri Piri chicken store opposite and were very heartened by the impartial service here. It turned out that Conga is actually very famous. Bifanas were absolutely delicious - salty, soft meat with a slight tinge of spice, I could have eaten two in a go. We tried different combinations - with rice and fries, but decided that the original style of having the meat with bread was the best as it soaks up the meaty greasy spicy goodness. Sangria is also fizzy and great in the heat, but slightly sweet. So good we came back twice in a day!

Authentic Portuguese food and experience. Came recommended from host and was worth the visit. Had Bacalhau and Steak as options on day I went. The Cod, rice and bean/greens dish were excellent! Quick for food and service was great, and best yet not a tourist trap with all locals. Will visit again.

We went here for a traditional bifana and we got it! The broth was so flavorful and a little spicy. Seriously delicious. We also got the veggie soup and the caldo verde - both were very bland, but hot and fresh. The atmosphere was a standard, sports place, nothing special. The water closet was a bit messy and smelled strongly of urine. Really great value, it was the most affordable meal we had while in Porto.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Iconic Porto Flavors at Their Best! Conga is a true Porto institution — the kind of place every local knows and every visitor should experience. Famous for its bifanas, this spot serves up sandwiches that are simply out of this world — tender pork simmered in a spicy, flavorful sauce that’s both addictive and unforgettable. The atmosphere is lively and full of character, with that perfect mix of tradition and energy that makes Porto so special. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient — even when it’s busy (which it often is!). Pair your bifana with an ice-cold beer or a glass of vinho verde, and you’ve got one of the best meals in the city for an unbeatable price. Conga isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a Porto experience. Simple, delicious, and absolutely essential for anyone who loves authentic Portuguese food. 🇵🇹🔥

Located in the heart of Porto, just a few minutes' walk from the Aliados metro stop, Brasão Aliados offers a traditional rural tavern atmosphere with elaborate decor. The menu features delicious francesinhas and an array of Portuguese petiscos. The attention to detail makes it a visual experience, and craft beer enthusiasts can choose from a variety of options.
We had a wonderful lunch right in the center of Porto. The food was delicious – we tried the Francesinha and Goat salad. It absolutely lived up to the hype. Rich, flavorful, and really satisfying. The service was also lovely – the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A great spot to relax and enjoy a traditional Portuguese meal. Highly recommend ⭐️

What an incredible experience! This place is truly amazing, with a fantastic and cozy atmosphere. We were seated on the upper floor – just watch out for the low ceilings ;) From there, we had a great view of the bustling waiters and all the tables filled with happy guests. The pleasant hum of conversation created a unique, vibrant energy. For our appetizer, we had the mushroom and asparagus dish with an egg. It was a flavor explosion—an absolute must-try! As a main course, we chose the classic Portuguese dish, francesinha, prepared in the traditional way. The portion was huge and incredibly filling, and we regretted not ordering the half-portion, as we had no room left for dessert. We didn't have a reservation, but we arrived just before the afternoon opening time. We waited for a short time in line and were given a table for an hour, which was more than enough thanks to the quick service. It was a truly fantastic dining experience! Thank you!

we were very lucky to take the last available table walking in at 6:45pm. portion of food is large and the staff was very nice of reminding us. innovative cooking method of onion, the beef with mushroom is fabulous that not too salty. the signature dish - francesinha are mix of meat, cheese, toast with homemade sauce: recommend to order half of size to leave room for more food. drinks are decorative and with good taste. overall is a pleasant experience as our first meal in Porto!

Apparently, this spot is known for having one of the best Francesinhas in Porto—and it truly lived up to its reputation! The meats were of great quality and tasted premium, with generous portion sizes (you can even opt for a half Francesinha if you’re not too hungry). We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the attentive service. The restaurant was full, so be sure to book a table in advance!

I am visiting Porto for almost 3 years, at least 3-4 weeks a year. The best food for me is by far Francesinha. Every time I take an uber ask then what francesinha he thinks is the best, so you can imagine I ate a lot of them already. However tonight I found the place, where I can say with confidence that has the best. You need to order with bife do lombo & egg and just enjoy this magical meal. I am a Man of perfection and so was this Francesinha. 10/10 recommended

Fantastic food! Definitely worth the 30-minute wait in the queue. We shared a Francesinha, along with a pork steak and a cod dish – all absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended to visit this place. Try to book in advance if you can. Prices are very reasonable.

Excellent restaurant and service. I had a reservation for 10 pm, but they helped me get a seat at 8:20 pm. The wine was excellent, and the food was delicious. But without a doubt, the ribs are on another level; the 48-hour wine marinade makes them exquisite. We ordered half a pica, but it's really spicy. For those who don't tolerate it well, it ends up being a nuisance to finish the dish. The accompaniment was orange salad, simply fresh, juicy and sweet. The attention from the entire staff was magnificent; everyone treated us with such love. I would definitely come back.
Marwin A — Google review
Really, really great vegetarian option for the Francesinha! If you want to try this Porto staple but without the crazy amounts of meat it usually comes with, then this is your place. The veggie version is definitely not an afterthought. We shared one for two and we're absolutely full! Nice staff, but can get busy. Reservations for bigger groups than 2 definitely recommended!

Café Santiago is a laid-back dining spot renowned for its delectable egg-topped sandwiches and hearty comfort fare, along with a selection of beers. The star of the menu is the Francesinha, Portugal's take on the croque-monsieur, featuring layers of cured ham, smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika, chipolata, roast meat smothered in melted cheese and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
We had the steak sandwich and had it split into two portion just add €1+. I can’t remember. But you’d get extra eggs and fries as it’s split to two plates. Well worth it as we’re not big eaters plus we then get to order another dish! Service was fast and prompt. We were early so no queue for us.

I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic francesinha, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the service: the staff was unprofessional and overly familiar, calling me "my love" and touching my arm, which made me uncomfortable. I don't know if it is part of portuguese culture but a more respectful and professional attitude would be greatly appreciated as a tourist. As for the food, while I understand that francesinha is a local specialty and many people love it, it wasn’t to my personal taste. However, I respect that this might just be a matter of preference. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, mainly due to the service.

Good afternoon, I had dinner here today. And I am very disappointed. At first glance, the food looked good. But the reality was completely different. The meat smelled slightly off, but more importantly, it wasn't cooked through. I didn't finish my meal and reported everything to the waiter. I was asked if I wanted the meat cooked further. I said no, because there wasn't much left. Then the waiter took the food away and that was it. I find it really outrageous to serve someone raw meat and not even apologise, let alone make the customer pay the full amount. I understand that this can happen sometimes, but the staff's reaction must be different!!!!

Francesinha is a Porto classic, and around Café Santiago you’ll find several places specializing in it. This restaurant, with entrances from both Rua de Santo Ildefonso and Rua de Passos Manuel, clearly takes its Francesinha seriously — it’s offered in several variations. As one reviewer said perfectly: “I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t need to try it again.” It’s definitely an acquired taste, but hearty and filling — arrive hungry. My wife had Bacalhau à Braga, which was nicely prepared, and we finished with Aletria — a dessert made from thin noodles simmered in sweet milk and dusted with cinnamon. Service was friendly and quick, rounding out a solid local experience.

Tried the famous francesinha at Café Santiago and it delivered. Rich, hearty, and indulgent, with a perfectly balanced spicy beer sauce. The portion is generous, the meat is tender, and the melted cheese blanket is pure comfort. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. If you are in Porto and want to try the city’s signature dish, this is the place. Go hungry.

Incredibly delicious francesinha. Came here solo and immediately got a seat at the bar. Short wait for the sandwich. The sauce is delicious and comforting, and the meats with bread are amazing. Tastes much better than it looks! Place was packed, expect to wait with 2+ people. Service was friendly and efficient

Francesinha baked in a wood oven! Ordered the Francesinha Santiago - Bife do Lombo, that upgrades the beef to siloin, also for that price comes already included the fried egg and the french fries. Aletria for desert, it was also top notch! Delicious! with a Café were both the perfect send off!

Went there after seeing all the positive reviews and was highly disappointed. We ordered francesinhas and caldo verde. When the francesinhas came out it looked really good at first look. However the sandwich itself was not hot and lukewarm at best. Both the fries and the bread was very stale.

Adega São Nicolau is a cozy and unassuming restaurant that serves up traditional Portuguese dishes with a homestyle touch. Owned by the same people as Taberna dos Mercadores, it embodies the warmth of Portuguese hospitality. The menu features classic favorites like bacalhau a Narcisa and veal steak from Arouca, but the real highlights are the seasonal specials, such as capelin stuffed with Alheira and rabbit in red wine.
Wow. Best octopus I’ve had in my life - so tender and perfectly seasoned simply with olive oil, salt and some onion and pepper. Corner sliver view of the sea, some good wine and great authentic food and service. The veal dish was also amazing. A must visit!

Iconic location with an atmosphere that feels truly authentic. The food was exactly what you’d hope for in Porto — fresh, flavorful, and generous. The shrimps were outstanding: perfectly cooked, fresh, and rich with flavor. The grilled sardines were the ideal first-night meal in Porto — simple, traditional, and absolutely delicious. Service was excellent — quick, efficient, and very friendly. A small tip: make sure to put your name on the waitlist when you arrive, as there is almost always a queue. The system runs smoothly, and the short wait is well worth it. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to dive straight into genuine Portuguese flavors and a great dining experience in the heart of Porto

My companions and I had an excellent meal here! I tried to make reservations via phone but my call wasn’t answered. So we just went there for a late lunch, and had a wait of 20 minutes. The staff is efficient and they try to sit you asap. Once you have your table, the staff is really helpful and answers your questions. The food comes in quite fast. The octopus rice was splendid and the octopus fillet was unbelievably tender. The tripe was the highlight for me though. It was so rich, complex, and tender. I hope it was easier to get reservations, but it’s worth the wait. It was an amazing meal for our last day in Porto!

If you want to eat something near the river side, I would pick here! Prawn was good. Sauce was with deep seafood favor. Octopus was pretty ok as well. Staff were nice. We went there for just simple food and a glass of wine then liked prawn so ordered more food to just have dinner there!!!!!

This was our second time dining here. Our first visit was with a reservation, but this time we walked in. There was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The food is amazing! I loved the oxtail stew and the Arouquesa veal steak. And don’t forget to order the orange pie for dessert it’s a must-try. The service is excellent as well. I’ll definitely be coming back every time we visit Porto!

This was our first dinner place in Porto and it did not disappoint. You may have to wait a bit for a table, but it would be worth it. It’s close to the river but tucked away on a little narrow uphill street that lends a quaint atmosphere of authenticity to it. The portions of the mains is pretty big, I’m a hearty eater, I can really eat a lot, but the servings for one main would be good for two people, particularly if you would be doing an appetizer, and dessert after. My partner and I made the mistake of getting one main each. We tried the Tripe stew and the veal stew. Both were very rich. The tripe was tender, not gamey, and was stewed with white beans and some carrots making it a very filling dish. The veal was also very tender, perfectly seasoned, and had a moderately thick sauce perfect for sopping up with bread. We also had the croquettes for starters which were a bit too creamy inside (the outer shell was nice and crispy, and the jesuit crackers which were light and fluffy. We were very full in the end so the climb/walk up the hilly parts was a wee bit challenging but kinda welcome. Pro tip: just really think about whether you need to have two mains, best to share one.
N C — Google review
What an amazing find! The inside is like you're in a wine barrel. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable...and fun. The food was amazing. I had the Lagareiro Octopus and it was one of the best things I've eaten over my 2 weeks in Portugal. My sister had the Lagareiro cod, which was also delicious, but the octopus was outstanding. Go there - you will not be disappointed
Jen C — Google review
We had the final meal of our short break in Porto here, and a fitting finale it was. Superb food, with a friendly service in a really nice atmosphere. We shared Codfish croquettes and Octopus salad to start, both fresh and flavoursome. For mains it was Octopus fillet which came with Octopus rice, across the table it was Oxtail stew with rice. Both dishes were superb. We stumbled across this place earlier in the day, and said we'd go back later, and weren't disappointed, I would recommend anyone to try this small restaurant which is slightly off the beaten track.

Gazela is a renowned snack bar in Porto, known for its unique hot dogs and classic Portuguese sandwiches. The establishment has gained widespread acclaim for its iconic hot dogs, which are made with crispy bread, fresh sausage, melted cheese, and a delicious spicy sauce. This no-frills eatery has even been featured on Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. In addition to their famous hot dogs, Gazela also serves francesinhas at their new location on Rua de Entreparedes.
Gazela is a must-try spot for sandwiches done right. We tried several options: • The famous traditional hot dog – simple, crispy, and packed with flavor. • The ham and cheese sandwich – incredibly basic but unbelievably good. Sometimes the simplest things are the most satisfying. • The steak and cheese sandwich – juicy and flavorful. • And finally, the steak, cheese, ham, and sausage sandwich – a rich and indulgent bite for those who want it all. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching the team in action as they prepared the sandwiches with precision and energy. The vibe was great, and the entire staff had a genuinely positive attitude. Exceptional sandwiches and a welcoming atmosphere – Gazela is highly recommended!

I had so much fun eating here. Fantastic food, atmosphere and team. Recommend sitting at the bar near the chef so you can watch him weave his magic. Icy cold beers with cheesy hot dogs and steak/ham/cheese/egg sandwiches. The best.

On our first day in Porto, we went to Gazela for lunch to try their famous cachorrinhos, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We paired them with a Super Bock and it was the perfect combo. The meal was really good and surprisingly filling. The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, which was a pleasant surprise, and the cachorrinho itself was delicious with crispy, flavorful bread and just the right amount of sauce. We sat outside and there was a line the entire time, but the wait was only about 10 to 15 minutes and totally worth it. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Porto!
Jonathan A — Google review
The atmosphere of the place was great. You can feel it as soon as you enter. The waiters helped me choose my order, which was the steak sandwich (11.5 euro) and the superbock beer(2.20 euro). I really liked it, except that the meat was not cooked the way I prefer — it was a bit undercooked for my taste.😊 The place was full when I arrived, and there was a line when I left. Sometimes you may need to wait 😇
Sıla Ş — Google review
Even with the long queue outside, service was really great. Great quality for the price. Fries were excellent as they are cut by hand and about those sandwiches we will think for a long time
Samanta Ā — Google review
I finally tried the famous cachorrinho at Gazela in Porto. While the hot dog was tasty, the rest of the meal didn’t quite live up to the hype—the fries were underwhelming, and the service was slow and inattentive. It took quite a while to be seated, served, and to pay the bill. Overall, it was an average experience, though the prices were fair for what you get.

Cervejaria Gazela: Pure Porto Magic, Served Fast and Cheap Cervejaria Gazela isn't just a restaurant; it's a Porto institution, and a mandatory stop for anyone seeking authentic, high-quality street food served with lightning efficiency. This place excels by focusing on one thing and doing it perfectly: the Cachorrinho. The cachorrinho (Portuguese for "little hot dog") is the undisputed star. Forget what you know about hot dogs; this is a tiny, grilled, intensely flavorful sausage tucked into a crusty, buttered roll, cut into small, perfect pieces, and drenched in a spicy, secret sauce. It's an explosion of flavor that demands to be eaten in multiple rounds. Beyond the food, the experience is defined by efficiency and value. The service is incredibly fast. Whether the place is packed or quiet, your beer and cachorrinho hit the counter almost instantly. This rapid-fire service is matched only by the cheap prices. You can enjoy an amazing meal and several rounds of drinks without making a dent in your wallet. Speaking of drinks, the good beer on tap is fresh, cold, and the essential complement to the spicy, savory hot dogs. Gazela is a testament to how simple things done right can become legendary. It’s perfect for a quick lunch, a late-night snack, or a real taste of local Porto culture.
Sarang A — Google review
Another Porto essential! I recommend the traditional standard cachorrinho (not the special, which is the one in sauce - I tried both so you don’t have to 😉). You can pay by card, but they only take tips in cash.

The rustic-chic ambiance blends modern and traditional decor, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and tourists.
For our last night in Porto, we wanted to have a nice dinner - Tascö was the perfect place. The cocktails, food, and the service were all phenomenal - the wild mushroom starter, Nazareth soup and the octopus were standouts. Also, don't pass on dessert! Highly recommend Tascö if you are ever in Porto looking for an elevated Portuguese dining experience- but make reservations!

Lovely place and some of the nicest and friendliest staff and service I ever encountered in my life. The food is good overall. The mushroom dish and fish soup is too “chefy” in my opinion. Delicious but too complicated. But they serve an amazingly delicious rib steak. I would eat here again and again for that steak for sure. Mature beef, well aged and expertly grilled.

Food was delicious! Cannot recommend the tuna starter (forgot to take a picture before we inhaled it) and chocolate dessert enough. The prawn arroz was delightful and the steak was pefectly cooked. Service was attentive, and our server provided recommendations when we weren't sure which items to get. There was a rather rowdy group of patrons seated nearby but the staff was polite and did their best to accommodate the other guests while appeasing the group. Would 100% go here again.

We had an excellent dinner at Tasco. Fun cocktails, terrific dishes that were beautifully plated and as tasty as they looked. That shrimp bisque risotto is a must try. If you have 2+ people, definitely get the grilled octopus served in whole. Might be the best, most tender, perfect grill I've experienced! Impeccable, friendly service by a knowledgeable team made it all that much better!

Casa Guedes Progresso is a Portuguese restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto. It's known for its delicious food, great service, and age (dating from 1899!). The interior of the restaurant is interesting and it feels like stepping back in time.
I really enjoyed the food, and I have to highlight that the pork sandwich is a must-try at this place. As a starter, I ordered a codfish croquette with sheep cheese, which was also very good, but I have to say the sandwich was outstanding. It was absolutely delicious. We visited this place yesterday and had an amazing experience! Our waitress, Marriana, gave us the best service we’ve had in all of Portugal. She was approachable, always smiling, kind, and gave us genuine recommendations. We tried the passion fruit sangria, octopus, and sandwich #14 (with Brie and caramelised onions). Everything was excellent! The sangria was rich in citrus and fresh fruit, the octopus was perfectly cooked and impressively served as a whole (not just a few tentacles like in most places), and the sandwich was absolutely delicious—even though we had initially hoped to try Bifanas, but Marriana’s recommendation did not disappoint. The prices are also on point. The only small suggestion would be to serve lemon wedges with the octopus. Highly recommended!

Good place to try the Francesinha, ours came loaded with lots of meat, it was great value for the money, in addition to a $3 euro gigantic plate of fries. The gravy it came with was also delicious and made the dish so much better. I have to admit we were skeptical of the francesinha but glad we decided to try it here! We also ordered the octopus but could have given it a miss as it was a bit mushy and not very fresh, although it came with a large portion of spinach that was seasoned well.

Simply amazing! You enter a beautiful scene and feel welcomed from the first moment. Staff is more than happy to help you find the perfect wine that suits you and the moment, even if it’s not on the menu. In our case he knocked it out of the park, every wine he recommended was a perfect follow up of the previous one. Everything, from the wine to olive oils, is sourced with sincere passion and attention and you can tell. The food is of such high quality that it excels in its simplicity. Food and wine are very reasonably priced! A glass of really great wine is around 8€. If you are in Porto and you love wine, or you do not love wine yet(!), you should visit this place.

First time visit here but surprised me mostly! The selection wine is nice, you can try different taste of each wine with affordable prices. Wonderful night and communication with the staff, my kind of celebration of mission completed.

An amazing wine bar in the heart of Porto’s old town. Joao is incredibly passionate, will explain everything without making you feel dumb, but going in such extreme details that you can only applaud his knowledge!

A truly memorable wine experience! We had the pleasure of being served by João who truly knows his wines. He understood exactly what we were looking for and delivered the perfect selection — elegant, well-balanced, and just what we had in mind (white dry and orange). The atmosphere at Prova is relaxed yet refined, making it a perfect spot for discovering local wines and enjoying good company. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Portuguese wine in the hands of a real professional!

We happened upon this bar by chance on our first night in Porto. We returned every night as the quality of the ports and wines combined with the knowledge of the staff was amazing. The atmosphere is perfect for a slow, relaxed after dinner drink (or two). They couldn’t have been more helpful or generous with their time. Great quality product at very reasonable prices.

One of the best wine bars I’ve been to worldwide and one that captures the essence of being a wine bar; true warmth and hospitality by Diogo and his team, excellent selection and care of cheeses (served at room temparature) and not to be forgotten a brilliant concise wine selection. Think local Portugese gems, but also wines from Rouget, Lopez de Heredia and Jules Brochet. If you’re into wines, don’t miss this when in Porto.

Great experience. João really knows his wines. Based on my preferences, he recommended a wine that was perfect for my taste. Beautiful ruby color and complex aroma and taste.

Casa Expresso is a charming, budget-friendly eatery with a simple and ever-changing menu displayed on a board. The atmosphere feels like enjoying homemade meals at your mom's place. The staff is accommodating, even if you don't speak Portuguese. The food is described as generous, home-cooked, and of high quality without any frills. It's popular among locals for its authentic Portuguese dishes at affordable prices.
Very fun vibe and ultra busy, you can try really authentic Portuguese food for a great price. The service was great and the beers were tasty. I loved my vegetable soup, it had nice chunks of cabbage and geeens swimming around. The French fries tasted really amazing! You might have to come early if you want a good seat, or even a seat at all.

The best meal we had in Portugal. If you know you know good food, this restaurant is not to be missed. The environment is rustic and lively and the service is prompt with great recommendations from the staff. We had the pork roll, soup with meat and blood (surprisingly amazing) and the homemade wafer cake for desert (which I wouldn’t normally go for but was recommended and incredible). We’ll be coming back again tomorrow.

This! Still my favourite eat in all of Portugal. This humble tavern serves a range of traditional Portuguese fare but the true star of the show is the slow cooked Rojoes. I've been here multiple times now and it's the place I look forward to visiting most when I'm in Porto. Expect a long wait for a table if you're coming for dinner especially if you're in a big group. The best time to come is at the end of lunch service. If I'm not just grabbing one of the face-melting Sandos I'm ordering a full portion of the stewed pork, a side of patas fritas and a couple of beautiful fried eggs. All is accompanied by fresh crusty bread and a banging home made hot sauce. There are multiple dining areas, one at the bar, one in front of the kitchen and main room. The atmosphere is as local as it gets so expect to wait your turn. Hopefully they don't stay closed for long!

Amazingly delicious food. Very reasonable price and good service. Our favourites were the pork and cheese in bread and the chips. Also good wine :)

The best sandwich we had in Portugal! This little hidden gem is more of a local coffee shop where people stop by for a quick bite. If you’re after a unique experience, this is the place to be! The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful, served on fresh bread—everything you could want in a sandwich!

Restaurante Cantina 32 is a laid-back and popular spot among the trendy locals, offering two sittings to reflect the Mediterranean way of life. The restaurant features large communal tables as well as smaller spots for more intimate dining. The menu includes large terracotta sharing dishes such as roast octopus with sweet potatoes and modern twists on classic Portuguese plates like fresh pink tuna with pineapple and seafood and chorizo stew.
Excellent. Squid and portobello appetizer is excellent. The bread with banana butter is very good. Octopus is a must. We ate here 3 times. Everything we tried was great. Reasonable prices. Make a reservation as they fill up fast. They open at 6:30 and the line starts at 6:15. Reservations are at 7. The sangria is great and a lot of wine choices. Felix and John were very helpful. Make sure to save room for wonderful desserts. We liked the chocolate cake, cheesecake, and carrot cake. Cappuccino was very good. Bathrooms were very clean.

Dropped by for lunch. We were just walking around Porto soaking in the atmosphere and saw that this restaurant had a decent rating. There was a line to get in , but that was because they were just opening. We were not so hungry so ordered the Portugese stew of Squid and Shrimp. The quailty of the ingredients was fine. But the sauce was brought in a separate jug and poured over. This left the squid and shrimp tasting very bland .The menu said the dish was for two persons but we were still hungry. A little pricey for what we were served. We went down to the Mercado and had something to eat and drink there! We wanted to order dessert but decided to go somewhere else.

Excellent octopus! Very tasty. Nice presentation. Price quality for octopus also good. The othet things were a bit on the expensive side. Especially the tuna appetizer. And the salad (lettuce) which was literally a quarter lettuce with dome cheese but almost 4€. The alheir crockets on the other hand were very nice and tasty really like alhier sausage. The banana butter, olives and bread were part of the curvert (2.50 pp). They were of good quality but we were a bit dissapointed that we got the same amount of bread butter and olices with the 5 of us as other people that were with a party of 2. (The banana butter tasted really like banana and was tasty as well.) We couldnt order a big bottle of water to share (nor still nor sparkling) only small bottles. The ambience was very nice. All in all. Nice restaurant for octopus. A bit on the expensive side. Service could be a bit more generouz looking at the water and the curvert.

Every visit to Cantina 32 was an absolute delight. The food is delicious and carefully prepared, and the service is truly exceptional – attentive, kind, and professional. We returned three nights in a row because we felt so welcome, and by the second evening, the staff even greeted us by name, which was a wonderfully personal touch. A special mention goes to John, our waiter, who was always polite, attentive, and truly professional. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a refined and welcoming dining experience in Porto.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Cantina 32, thanks in large part to the incredibly kind and helpful manager, Felix, who went out of his way to find us a table when my father expressed how much he wanted to dine there. The food exceeded all expectations—the iceberg lettuce salad with salmon was easily one of the most delicious salads we’ve ever had, with perfectly balanced flavors and generous portions. The squid stew was equally outstanding—fresh, rich, and full of depth. We finished with their signature cheesecake, which is an absolute must. The ambiance is second to none—an industrial chic setting that still manages to feel warm and calming. It was our best night in Porto, and we’ll definitely return on our next visit. Thank you, Felix and the entire Cantina 32 team!

Taylors Port offers a fascinating journey through time, delving into the history of Porto wine, viticulture, the Douro region, and the remarkable story of Taylors. Visitors can explore the extensive cellars with an electronic audio-guide providing insights into the company's heritage and winemaking processes. The self-guided tour allows for flexibility in pacing and is ideal for those with limited time or seeking an overview of port production.
Had an awesome winery experience :) It’s a self-guided tour (you need headphones) which took around an hour to complete. Total historic tour of this winery and wine-making. After the tour, you will walk into an amazingly beautiful garden for tasting session. It was super scorching day, so i sat indoors by the window for tasting and it was perfect!! I had both cool atmosphere and the perfect garden view. I tried [extra dry white port][10year tawny][vintage port]. Ordered some olives and taylor’s natas (chocolate layer inside) for pairing with the drinks. All the staffs were kind, informative.and attentive. :)
Hanna B — Google review
One of the oldest cellar buildings b the area with a pre-book self-guided audio tour and wine tasting(3 kinds). Helpful history although a big part of it was for this particular venue. The wine tasting area is in a beautiful court yard with great decoration and large area inside and outside. They rai out of snack by 4pm with only a few sweets and cheese and olive 🫒 left. Cheese was good but Oliver was not fresh and super salty and is barely edible. Need some improvement there for sure. Not the cheapest cellar and there is a bit of a hill to walk up after the bridge but still enjoyable and only need to book ahead day in advance which is nice ☺️
Maggie — Google review
This was a fantastic port cellar to visit! The tour itself is very informative and has a lot of historical artifacts, videos, and of course the barrels of port in the giant warehouse. The tour is all self guided at your pace, and gives a complete history of the company and also the port making process. The best part is of course the tasting at the end in Taylor’s beautiful garden. The ports we tried were all top notch (especially the 10 year) and the server was very knowledgeable about the styles. Most definitely worth a special visit if you’re in Porto.
David S — Google review
1) I liked the port wine. 2) If you visit, I think the tour including a tasting is a better deal than just the tasting, with tasting sets starting at 22 EUR. 3) Be aware that while the garden is nice, you won’t have much of a view of Porto. 4) Stay away from the bread basket — at 8 EUR for six tiny pieces of mediocre bread, I thought this was a real rip-off that left a bitter taste on the whole experience
Mary S — Google review
We enjoyed visiting this wine cellar and recommend this place to other visitors. The tour is informative and shares context on the wine making process and some history of the founders of this cellar. You get the chance to pass by some real big barrels which was cool. The highlight of the tour was the tasting. You taste the wines in the rooftop garden and if you go to the balcony, you will have a nice view of porto. There is a shop that you can purchase wines. The price was fair for the experience (~€25).
Reza N — Google review
We had such a great tour of the port, followed by a tasting that was absolutely delicious. Marri (forgive me if I’m spelling her name wrong!) was our waitress she was so sweet, spoke perfect English, and really took the time to help us pair our port with food. The pairings were spot-on and made the experience even better. The grounds are stunning, covered in grapevines everywhere you really feel like you’re in the heart of a winery. They also have a charming little shop where you can purchase their port and even their own house olive oil. Another bonus they’re open on Mondays, when many of the other ports in the area are closed. We actually stumbled upon this place, and I’m so glad we did!

If you love port, or think you might, and can splurge a bit for the tawny master class, I highly recommend doing so. While I did it, my wife did the audioguide tour and we both enjoyed ourselves immensely. We didn't do all the bodegas but of the ones we did, this was our favorite.

O Paparico is a highly acclaimed restaurant in Porto, known for its blend of traditional Portuguese ambiance and English bar-style decor. The friendly and accommodating service caters to various dietary needs, while the sommelier ensures a delightful experience for wine enthusiasts. The menu features elegantly presented dishes that stay true to authentic Portuguese flavors with some modern twists. While it may be on the pricier side, the 7 or 10-course meals offer an exquisite culinary journey.
Wow! What a magical, wonderful dining experience. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was a true experience! The restaurant’s atmosphere is gorgeous and so special. I love how the restaurant blends old and new/ traditional and contemporary. The staff and service could not be more perfect - everyone is so welcoming, kind, and excited to share the restaurant’s dishes with you. It’s rare when you can sense that staff have a genuine enthusiasm for the food being served. Every course/dish came with a story. I also loved how various members of the kitchen, including the chef, came out to speak with you - such a unique touch! And the food was absolutely wonderful! Get this restaurant its Michelin star ASAP! I particularly loved the first three “surprises” to come out of the kitchen and the rabbit. The bread service was also exceptional. Every dish was a work of art. I’ll be thinking about this meal and the experience I had at O Paparico for some time to come! These type of experiences are hard to come by!
Lis M — Google review
The best dining experience I’ve ever had, by far. Each dish is presented with so much forethought, explaining each ingredient and the story behind why it’s been included in their menu and its original Portuguese origins. All the staff were so friendly and had a smile at every interaction. We got the shared menu for two, which included 6 courses and 3 desserts. 2 of the courses and a dessert were added as surprises too. Each dish was small but it was plenty of food because of the variety. Be aware that because of the nature of the presentation, the meal takes a long time (we were there over 3 hours). We enjoyed the taste of all the dishes, even the ones with unconventional ingredients (to an American). Highly recommend during a visit to Porto.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. It’s a high end hidden gem in Porto… but what makes this place so unique is the unassuming exterior & the warm, friendly & homelike interior. It’s not your average fancy restaurant. You are greeted so kindly once you go in & from there you can be sure that you’re treated with the utmost sympathy from the extremely attentive staff. We forgot to let them know in advance that I’m vegan, which at first was a problem… but that problem was quickly rectified and I had 8 mouth watering plant based courses. The food was truly something special… and the wait staff carefully explained the themes & flavour profiles of what we ate. The first bottle of red wine was not to my taste and without hesitation or any issue, one of the wait staff promptly brought me a different, more full bodied wine that I thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be back here. Also the bread was really yummy hehe,
Annie — Google review
We had a tasting menu. Our complements to the staff. From the start to the end, the staff was really attentive, sometimes too much. We liked the atmosphere, the attention to details. But the food was really an average. It looks better than it taste. The dishes were boring, lacking sophistication, balance and creativity. The homemade bread, specially baked for us, was really poor: hard and tasteless. The best were intermezzo and partridge. Everything else were not memorable. Not surprisingly, they don't have a Michelin star. Sure, they’re trying to achieve it, but with the food, more effort is needed. Good luck!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at O Paparico and it was a lovely experience. The food was not only delicious, but also very creative. The service was outstanding - they really made our dinner feel like a celebration. I would highly recommend making a reservation if you are in Porto!

An absolutely fantastic meal! All of the staff and service were perfect, both precise and discreet as well as really friendly, no detail was too small. From start to finish the food was gorgeous, hard to pick a favourite but the partridge and the monkfish were both particularly amazing! We chose the clasique wine pairing, which was beautiful with the food served. Absolutely recommend this restaurant for a brilliant experience.

I've traveled a lot of places and tried a lot of high end, fine dining restaurants but this one beats them all. The attention to detail, the flavor, the presentation and combination are amazing. The staff care for your every need, are extremely knowledgeable and have a fun time while making your experience unforgettable. They only book one reservation per table in the restaurant for the entire night so you can enjoy your experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The little restaurant is out of the box. Traditional Portuguese culture is followed to a minute details. The staffs are extremely well behaved. We ordered Ala Carte. As we just want to try Portuguese food, we ordered one starter and one mains. But the restaurant gave us 5 surprise chef specials and each of them were super awesome. I would recommend everyone to visit this restaurant at least once. It’s a top notch experience

The wine bar-come-restaurant takes pride in sourcing local organic produce to pair with its wines, offering meticulously crafted dishes in a beautiful setting.
Ode Porto delivered on every level. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, with excellent wine recommendations that perfectly matched the meal. The food was top-notch across the board, but the steak with 3-day cooked sauce was next level—easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and paired with a series of great wines. To top it off, the chocolate fondant was rich, perfectly gooey, and balanced by the bright, homemade orange ice cream. Ode Porto is an absolute treat. We were here at the end of May and the experience was unforgettable. You step in from the hustle and bustle of the streets and immediately everything slows down. The staff was fantastic from beginning to end and the owner makes you feel like a guest in his house. The love and care for what they do here is apparent. Each dish was fantastic and wine offerings were just as good. I wish we could have tried it all. A standout dish for me was the Cabidela Rice. A dish that seems rustic but was so complex in flavors. Highly recommended this gem when you are in Porto.

What a beautiful and intimate evening at Ode Porto Wine House! A special thank you to the owner, Mr. Cristóvão Sousa, for his generosity and warm hospitality — the surprise at the end was so thoughtful and added a heartfelt touch to the night. Highly recommended for those who appreciate authentic Portuguese flavors served with love 💫 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cannot express how special my time was at ODE. First of all, I had single handedly the best food I have had in Portugal. We had the tripes as an appetizer which was so good that my finance and I thought about just ordering more orders of that as our entire meal. But then the main courses came out which absolutely stunned. I had the octopus rice which was perfectly seasoned and not at all too heavy. My partner got the Iberian pork ribs which literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Dessert was the owners own mothers pudding which had us savoring every bite. We were introduced to our new favorite champagne - the entirety was more than we could have hoped for. The history behind this place is moving and the devotion to family, tradition, culture, quality, and food was very touching. The owner wrote us a handwritten congratulations on our engagement on a hand painted parting gift. What an experience- I hope each and every person at ODE knows that they have given us a once in a lifetime production!
Izzy G — Google review
Tucked inside a centuries-old wine cellar in the heart of Porto, Ode isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a love letter to heritage, hospitality, and the kind of soulful cooking that lingers long after the last bite. From the moment you step through the doors, you’re met with a welcome note that immediately sets the tone: a tribute to the chef’s mother and grandmother — the original culinary muses — whose recipes, warmth, and spirit still guide the kitchen today. The space itself is intimate, rustic, and rich with history, the stone walls echoing with the quiet clink of wine glasses and the soft hum of conversation. But what truly sets Ode apart isn’t just the setting — it’s the people. The owner/sommelier treated us like family, offering expert wine pairings with heartfelt conversation and the kind of hospitality that feels instinctual, not rehearsed. And then, the food. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, glazed in something sweet and smoky that made silence fall across the table. The chicken — deceptively simple — was cooked to perfection, juices running, each bite layered with warmth and care. Every plate felt personal, as if it had been made just for us. Ode is a place where time slows, stories are shared, and meals become memories. It’s the kind of restaurant you wish you could take home with you — but instead, you carry it in your heart (and on your taste buds) long after you’ve left.

Wow! We celebrated our anniversary here in October 2025, based on a recommendation from a friend. Cute and great food, wine and port. My dish was outstanding. My wife liked but did not love her dish. The owner visits every table to ask how things are going. When he heard she liked but did not love her dish, we were totally surprised and charmed when he volunteered to replace it. Her replacement was one of her favorite dinners in a 3 week journey throughout Portugal. I had a great colheita from 1982 (our anniversary year)....expensive but the best ever. One minor vignette....we were seated downstairs near some doors/windows...very cute. Some guests stepped out for a smoke, and smoke wafted in. Yuck. We mentioned to owner, and he skillfully and diplomatically asked the others to step away. They had no idea their smoke was wafting in, and they quickly and apologetically moved further away. Problem solved. Kudos to owner for handling.

Confeitaria do Bolhão is a historic pastry shop located in Porto, founded in 1896 and recently recovered by a Venezuelan family. It offers a wide variety of traditional Portuguese pastries, savory items, sandwiches, and an array of breads. Situated across the street from the iconic Bolhao market, it provides an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in Portuguese food culture.
We really enjoyed the time we had in the café. We came in around 2 o'clock in the afternoon for the sweets and also took a rest a bit. We ordered galao (like latte) and four pieces of pastries like pastel de nata, bola de berlim, estaladinho and folhado de chocolate. Everything tasted good and I was totally satisfied after all. Best of all, it costed 7 euros only! We will come again for sure.

Super authentic Portuguese bakery/pastry shop. Great for take away but also if you want to stay there. It's very lively and there is a constant coming and going of people. The waiters seem busy but are super nice. And the price is outstanding for what you get. Tried to try a bit of everything but the menue is too big for one visit
Jeevan T — Google review
Confeitaria do Bolhão is lively, hectic, and unmistakably local — exactly the kind of place that gives Porto its charm. Around thirty small tables pack the space, and you’ll likely sit shoulder to shoulder with other guests while two energetic waiters manage the entire room with impressive speed. Up front, the counter is filled with both sweet and savory pastries, all fresh and tempting. Be patient — it’s always busy — but the wait is worth it. Closed on Sundays, but on any other morning it’s a perfect spot to start the day, enjoy a proper coffee, and sample local specialties in an authentic atmosphere. If you have the time, it’s absolutely worth a visit.

Love this place. Delicious pastries, great coffee, open at 6am for early birds, fair prices, classic interior but what really made it for me was the charming service, comfortable helping tourists with limited English and limited Portuguese. Bonus points for providing a water dispenser to wash down the coffee with. The ordering system is okay once you work it out. Order at the counter, take a seat at the back, they'll find you with your order and give you an ID card for the bill. If you want to order more, you go back to the man overseeing the seating area, or the counter, with the same card. You pay on the way out, handing the card to the cashier at the exit/entrance. They don't label the baked goods, so if you're not a native (or even if you are?!), you're best taking a photo, showing it to the counter staff and saying the quantity you want (in English, was fine). I never used the toilets, so can't comment on them. It's a great place to get up early for, charge up, relax and get ready to attack the day, especially if like me you don't like hotel breakfasts (they're all the same and it's one less opportunity to go somewhere new). Also, getting up early in a hot country while it's cooler is a good idea, plus you can avoid a lot of crowds of tourists.

Confeitaria do Bolhao was one of my favorite cafes while in Porto. I visited several times for breakfast and bought many pastries to take home. All the pastries here were delicious. They were flaky and didn't stick to my mouth. The sandwiches were also delicious. The coffee and chocolate were also delicious. The service was excellent, efficient, and fast. The prices were very affordable.

Stepping into Confeitaria do Bolhão feels like stepping back in time. The old-world charm, mirrored walls, and smell of fresh pastries make it a true Porto classic. Staff were kind and quick even during the rush, and prices are fair. It gets busy, but that’s part of its magic. patience will be well compensated.A must-stop for anyone exploring the city! Tried their Bolo Rei, tigelinhas de Bolhao and another one. Loved all of them esp the bolo rei. Their Espresso are mini Espresso though :)

Traditional Portuguese desserts disappointed me most of the time😔this passion fruit tart is nth as it should be, the tart is basically some digestive biscuit mixed with butter and not baked, and the mousse filling is just like flavourless milk jelly, with some sweet passionfruit jam on top. Not sure if other stuff would taste better but I saw most of the comments written in Chinese expressed the same feeling🤣⋯⋯

Pregar is a laid-back restaurant located in Porto, known for its outdoor seating and delicious burgers and beef sandwiches. The highlight of the menu is the traditional Portuguese prego, a flavorful beef sandwich that can also be served with fries on the side. The restaurant elevates this simple dish with high-quality ingredients, making it a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. With limited seating available, it's recommended to either reserve a table or plan to arrive during off-peak hours to avoid long waits.
Really enjoyed eating here. The food didn't look like much- a bun on a plate- but one bite and I was sold. I had the 'Traditional' with medium rare steak, ham and cheese. Juicy and tasty. My wife had the codfish- a great mix of fish, mayo, lettuce and more. Altogether, exactly what we needed to keep us going for a few more hours of walking the city.

The most delicious sandwiches we have ever had, by far. They offer also a vegetarian option, just as great as the meat ones. Yummy desert as well. The staff is nice and friendly, the atmosphere cool and relaxed. Overall, a place we would visit time and again!
Nico B — Google review
Had to try the steak sandwich that was highly raved but it didn’t meet the expectations. I got a medium rare and I couldn’t bite through the meat and it was really chewy. The garlic complimented the steak and bread really well (eventho slightly a bit salty). But the service was amazing. Thanks to these 2 very kind, efficient and hardworking waiters. Thank you for making my solo dining experience so much better.
Denise T — Google review
We have family in Lisbon and they both recommended this little shop. We spent the day walking to see the sights and build up an appetite… Damn, the Pregar sandwich lived up to the hype! Got the mustard and the garlic on the waiter’s recommendation (we were looking at those two anyway) Horseradish fries… The meat was incredibly tender and well flavored Great place to stop and eat, have a vino verde and keep sightseeing

amazing steak burgers that don’t taste sinful at all. wasn’t too oily and the buns were soft and fluffy, while the steak sandwiched between them was marinated well and cooked to your preferred doneness. although they specialize in their steak burgers, their desserts like the chocolate mousse and passion fruit tart were delicious as well. don’t think you can make an online reservation but they do accept reservations face-to-face at their restaurant. highly recommended to make one as it isn’t a big restaurant with many seatings!
Yong T — Google review
The Good: - Their steak sandwich are simple and delicious - Warm ambience Things to improve: - Seating area can be more comfortable - I believe the steak sandwich can be elevated with some heat, acidity, and a bit of crunch. It doesn’t need to replace the classics but it can be a new special item

Tiny busy place. Average service. The tuna tataki was ok. Nothing special. We had two pregos. The onion one and soft cheese. Delicious but inconsistent. One of them had thick underdone steak while the other was much better. The burger is good as well.

There are no words to describe the quality and the quality of the food that I ate this evening at this restaurant. Everything was delicious starting from the nachos with an amazing. guacamole which I recommend and the pregos which are a portuguese specialty: the meat was great and and the bun was fresh. It was that good that we took a third one just to try one more. The pictures dint make justice to the tastiness of the food. Definitely recommend as a 10/10 experience!

Elemento, situated at Rua do Almada n51 in Porto, is a renowned restaurant offering a unique dining experience. Chef Ricardo Dias Ferreira presents an innovative approach to cooking with a menu entirely prepared over wood fire. The open kitchen features a wood oven and specially designed grill, emphasizing national and regional ingredients while supporting small producers.
My mom and I did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was amazing!! The food was incredible, the wine paired phenomenally to enhance the dishes, and it was very fun to sit at the bar and watch the chefs work. Food was local and delicious. The restaurant is warm from the wood fire for cooking which added to the ambiance. Fantastic meal and hopefully we will come back again!
Mary D — Google review
We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing and left absolutely delighted. The fire dining concept, with its focus on well-sourced local products and cooking over open flames, was truly remarkable. The menu was perfectly balanced and exquisite from start to finish, with original, well-balanced flavors that complemented the main ingredient without overpowering it. . We started with appetizers full of flavor, followed by a dish with lírio where, despite a very interesting mix of flavors and sauces, the quality of the fish still shone through. The wild corvina and rocaz were both outstanding, with the smoky notes from the grill, the central theme of the evening, clearly present. The presa de porco was also excellent, though if we had to choose, we’d lean towards the fish courses. The sweet finale began with a refreshing orange ice cream with beetroot and plum vinegar, a combination as surprising as it was delicious, and ended with a dessert celebrating two Porto classics: chocolate, here in the form of a brownie, paired with a superb 20-year-old tawny Port wine. The wine pairing was spot on, and the impeccable service from the entire team was the perfect finishing touch to a truly memorable experience that we fully recommend.

Me and my wife had an excellent experience at Elemento! We did not go for the set menu, rather choosing our own plates. The staff were all very nice and welcoming. Would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wishes to experience great fire food.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had in Portugal. We booked a 9pm seating, and from the start the service was chaotic and rushed. Different servers kept interrupting us to take orders, and the whole experience felt disorganized and below the level of a Michelin-recognized restaurant. My friend ordered a cocktail with extra brine. It was made wrong, and even though we sent it back untouched, both drinks appeared on the bill. The manager insisted that “in Portugal you pay for whatever is on the table.” I refused to pay for a €12 cocktail I did not drink, but he kept arguing even though our total bill was nearly €250. Very unprofessional. The food was also poor. The steak and potatoes were cold inside. When we told the waiter, she took the plate to the kitchen and brought back the same one with the same bitten side still cold. We were even charged €1.50 for olive oil just because we asked for some with the bread. We have dined at many excellent restaurants across Portugal such as Pedro Lemos and Alma, but this place does not come close. Rushed service, cold food, arrogant management, and uninspired dishes make it absolutely not worth the price or reputation.

Ariana, Sandra and their team were incredible. The service was second to none. They were so attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was exciting, lively, and the chef and his team were so fun to watch! The food was exceptional and extremely unique. Every dish was cooked perfectly. I would go back a million times!

EXCEPTIONAL 3 Star Michelin level cuisine and service. Chef Ricardo is highly talented, creative and an amazing conductor in a perfectly choreographed team effort and all of this in front of the customers without any faux pas and in a very calm yet effective execution. We were extremely impressed and, I have to admit, moved by the kindness and the flavors / aromas of the delicate blend of FIRE cooking of exceptional quality products from fish to red meat. I was skeptical about the merit of wood fire with red snapper or other king fish, but felt overwhelmed by the result (I rarely experienced fish this good even at the Bernardin in New York). Please try the tasting menu @95 euros it is worth every penny. You will become emotional and remember this unusual experience for a long long time. From the start with the Tartelette with Red Prawn and Fluefin tuna till the end with Brownie Ice Cream sandwich the quality level never drops and as you try more wines throughout the menu your taste buds continue to be excited despite the constant fireworks of culinary moments. After the Black Pork Rump we asked the chef to add the Beef Tongue to the already comprehensive menu for our own delight … do the same you will not regret it. Beware do not have a hefty lunch that day.😉 BRAVO ! Someone please tell the Michelin inspectors to come and visit to grant Elemeno the 2 or 3 stars it deserves!

Padaria Ribeiro, one of the oldest bakeries in Porto with a 146-year history, is renowned for its delectable croissants and pastries. The bakery's signature amanteigado croissant undergoes a slow leavening process and is finished with a sugar syrup while still warm, creating an irresistibly sweet treat.
This is my absolute favorite bakery. Everything I get is so delicious. I can’t say it’s the most affordable place but it’s definitely well worth it. Especially the carrot cake is incredible. I would get it every single day if it fit my budget just a bit more. 10/10
Müge Ö — Google review
Recommend the bakery, not so much the cafe. If you want to eat there, do not make the mistake of ordering from the cafe menu they give you! (Limited options, cold and unappealing pastries). Instead, take a picture of the pastry you want from the bakery and show it to the waiter. I didn’t realize they had this option until I overheard a staff member telling another customer :(
Edlyn P — Google review
Bakery with many options! We ordered a variety of the pastries to eat in. Weirdly none of the savoury pastries are heated up, so everything was cold and honestly not very good. The carrot / ginger cake and chocolate cake were the best things we got. Might be better to order as a takeaway to heat up at home.

unfortunately highly would not recommend the mango smoothie. it was 4.40€, but it was extremely bland and did not have any milk or cream (isn’t that what a smoothie means?). it tasted like a little bit of mango and a lot of water. pastel de nata was just ok, can get better elsewhere

Restaurante Casario is situated within the Gran Cruz House, a historic 16th-century building that has been transformed into a hotel. The restaurant seamlessly blends modern elegance with traditional Portuguese influences and offers an extensive selection of local wines and port. Led by chefs Miguel Castro Silva and Jose Guedes, the restaurant presents classic dishes such as cured salmon with figs and pork belly with cabbage and garlic sauce.
We had a fabulous meal at Casario on a rainy evening in early May 2025. Pictured are squid and shrimp lollipops, scallops with creamy saffron rice and caviar, and for dessert, almond tiles with apple and mascarpone cream - all of which were delicious. Our waiter, Ignacio, was so welcoming and helpful with advice about Portuguese wine. When there was a no-show for one of the choice window tables, he happily moved us there to enjoy the view. On a warmer, drier evening, I'm sure the outdoor tables with a view over the Douro are spectacular. I highly recommend Casario for a special meal in Porto!

The food was incredible, and the service was even more impressive! I visited solo for lunch, and while I've heard dinner might offer an even better vibe, the experience was fantastic. The Portuguese rice with fish was a standout dish—absolutely delicious—and the cod was exceptional as well. Highly recommend!

A cute small restaurant close by the river bank. We sat indoors. But with all the windows and doors open, we can see the rive and boats and hear live music. The setting was lovely. We had goat cheese salad, beets with rice, chicken with gnocchi, and pork with cabbage. All were great. I had an aged port to finish the meal.
Jules H — Google review
Let's start off by saying this is a great location with a view of the Douro River. Limited seating inside - maybe 9-10 tables. We ordered three entrees: octopus and watercress on sweet potato mash, sea bass with fennel orange sauce, and roasted veal with mustard sauce and potato gratin. The octopus was perfectly seasoned and tender, not rubbery, and paired well with the sweet potato mash. Sea bass skin was crispy, flesh was moist and flavorful. Roasted veal was juicy and well seasoned. Given we were celebrating a special occasion, we ordered dessert - creme brulee with star anise and orange, almond and figs. Holy sweets, it was so delicious. And our gracious waiter treated us to a generous taste of the Cruz tawny port. We had an awesome dining experience. Go here and treat yourself to fine dining.

Why Portugal is not mentioned in the great food countries of the world, is beyond me. Personally, I think they should be and this place is another example of why it should be. The produce, the dishes, taste and the staff knowledge were exceptional. Another experience not to be missed. This is only further enhanced by a port selection that would make the Port houses envious, as well as stunning views of the river. Do book well in advance to avoid disappointment, it's quite small and cosy.

We booked a table with a river view and this was a magical place to sit . There are a good selection of wines by the glass and we enjoyed two ventozelo white wines from the Douro valley a rabigato and a field blend mcs both were delicious and perfect for the fish dishes we chose . Service was relaxed attentive and conversational and the team spoke perfect English. There is a tasting menu or as we did you can choose three or four dishes to share from the list of mains . Grilled octopus sweet potato mash was tender perfectly spiced and melt in the mouth . Scallops perfectly cooked with the most delicious lemon rice a dish that will live long in the memory. Turbot was firm fleshed sweet and succulent and perfect with its sea weed accompaniment. Deserts are fun nutty classic combination and not to be missed . Highly recommend this place.

O Astro Cervejaria Petisqueira is a cozy and charming spot that offers a taste of authentic Portuguese cuisine. It's known for its delicious spicy pork sandwiches called bifanas, which are tender and flavorful. In addition to the savory sandwiches, they also serve traditional dishes like caldo verde (kale soup) and papas, a thick soup made with blood and shredded meat. The service is fast and friendly, despite the bustling atmosphere.
Found the place online but it was also recommended to us by locals. So don't be afraid of the hype. Its definitely a worthy one. Had my bifana at the bar for a true local experience. There are a couple of other options which I didn't try yet I noticed that all the locals were having soup after eating their sandwich. Either way a must try place when you visit Porto.

Ordered a Bifana sandwich and a Caldo Verde. The Bifana was delicious, but the Caldo Verde was a bit bland. It's nice to see the old ladies busy in the kitchen. You can tell they care about the food. It's right across Campaña station and still very affordable. Give it a try.

Hit up this restaurant for quick snack after arriving at Campanhã station. Vibe out on the street was good as it was well attended. Inside had AC and lots of seating which was pleasant surprise from the busy street side tables. The bifana tasted good but we don’t have any other bifanas to compare it to. It was sandwich only so sides need to be ordered with it. We ordered bovine and chicken burger meals and they arrived bunless keto-style. All good if you expect it but we sure didn’t! Service was good, our server came back several times to check on us and spoke good English.

We couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The team was extremely attentive and we felt very well taken care of. Enjoyable dinner overall. The bite size starter dishes (I tried three) were creative and interesting, though missed the mark slightly on flavour — more conceptually clever than delicious. I had the John Dory for my main, which was good, but I definitely had food envy when I saw the beef fillet being served nearby — I’d recommend going for that instead! Service was warm, although I was forgotten about at the end and could have walked without paying (I didn’t!). Still, staff were friendly and the space was immaculate, with great attention to detail in the food. Worth a visit. Bill €130 1 person / 3 courses & 2 drinks

We loved that each dish was carefully and thoughtfully explained to us. To top it off, Pamela attended to us in such a friendly and helpful manner. We felt very welcome thanks to her. Can’t wait to visit when we are back and definitely would recommend dining here!
Rebecca Y — Google review
After numerous recommendations from friends and chefs alike, we've been meaning to visit Cozinha das Flores for a long time. After seeing the reviews, I decided to adjust my expectations. However, after having tasty cocktails, finding the interior design (especially the cooking area and the lighting) impressive, and being served the first starter (bulhão pato) I knew that our experience would exceed my expectations. We were very surprised by how balanced all the dishes were and that for once a Portuguese restaurant was not scared of serving dishes with a kick to it. The seafood rice with lobster was exceptional - among the best we've had in Porto - distinguished by its unique citrus notes. Out of, bulhão pato, turnip natas, smoked squid, local green asparagus, blue lobster wet rice and the salad as a side dish, the only under seasoned dish was the asparagus (it lacked salt). While the food deserves high praise, the service had inconsistencies. We experienced a somewhat chaotic approach without a dedicated server and faced lengthy waits for wine and our first course. However, the sommelier who assisted us was incredibly kind and single-handedly elevated our service experience. I'd highly recommend it for its outstanding culinary offerings, though it's worth adjusting service expectations.
Sila A — Google review
Hands down my favorite restaurant. The consistently delicious food and outstanding service are what keep me coming back. The ambiance is warm and stylish, and I love being able to see into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work. It adds something special to the entire experience. We always start with a few of the snack dishes. The spider crab donuts are a must — light, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin the meal. We like to explore the other snacks too, and one standout has been the crispy laminated dough with cockles, which bursts with flavor and texture. For starters, the smoked squid from the Azores with chickpeas is always a favorite. It’s rich, perfectly cooked, and full of depth. The asparagus options tend to be lighter and refreshing, offering a nice contrast to the bolder flavors. When it comes to main dishes, the John Dory and grilled beef fillet are both beautifully prepared and reliably excellent. That said, I find myself returning to the wild blue fish and pork shoulder steak. They’re both unique, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. If you’re dining with a group, the tomato and blue lobster rice is a fantastic shared dish — generous and deeply satisfying. Dessert is not to be missed. The Milk dessert is one of the most creative I’ve had. It captures the essence of sweet milk in multiple forms, and it’s delicate, not overly sweet. On our latest visit, we also tried the cherry stone ice cream. The cherries had just the right amount of tartness, making it a refreshing and memorable way to end the meal. Some items change with the seasons, but the menu is always balanced and full of inspired choices. We love bringing friends and family here because we know they’ll experience the same incredible food and service we always do.

We had a really great dinner experience! The food and wine were superb and so was the service. The food was original and tasty but not overcomplicated. Nestled in a charming corner, Casa dos Presuntos "Xico" is a delightful snackbar that exudes an authentic local vibe. As you step inside, you're greeted by the sight of patrons enjoying their pre-dinner bites alongside refreshing vinho or cerveja. The ambiance is enhanced by antique jugs and hanging hams overhead, while a cheerful canary adds to the quaint atmosphere.
This was absolutely amazing! The pork was super tender and delicious and with the perfect amount of spice. I enjoyed the sandwich more than maybe any other meal in Porto! This is one of my favourite institutions in Porto! Their Sandos are next level, made using their in house smoked ham and funky local sheep/cow cheese. Cash only, with plenty of locals lining the bar. Very nice mom and pop shop. You can tell from the pictures they been here for quite some time. It's very much a neighborhood place, right across the police station. Without speaking a word of English they really did their best to accommodate us. Too bad the warm dishes are only available in the afternoon. I went early to beat the lunch traffic. Ordered a Sande de Presunto com Queijo with a bowl of Vinho Verde tinto (yes, it came in a small bowl). Also had a beer and added a Sande de Morcella to pair with it. 😋 Definitely a recommend. It's very cheap and true quality.

This was my first restaurant in Porto. I had Francesinha and passion fruit sangria. I asked the staff for a recommendation on sangria flavors, and he gave me the best one! The food was good, but the sauce was a bit too salty for me.

Vegetarian restaurant
Fava Tonka is a vegetarian restaurant located in Leca da Palmeira, Portugal. The chic barn-style interior and hanging pot plants create a visually appealing atmosphere. The menu offers visually-arresting plant-based dishes, carefully prepared by the talented team led by chef Nuno Castro. The restaurant has gained recognition for its fun and intriguing dishes using mostly plant-based ingredients.
An absolutely amazing place. Felt a little rushed to begin with but I get that they want to get the first order in. Food was so GOOD! I mean really good. I was recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. Staff amazingly friendly. Each dish has to be savoured. Enjoyed. The flavour pairings were amazing. I would love to go back for a taster menu with paired wines. In terms of cost, it is very reasonable. I would pay twice this in London or Paris.

Overall: Extremely underwhelming food, but friendly service. Food: We liked the concept of this restaurant, but every single dish was overpriced for what you get. Not only that, but everything lacked flavor. I’ve eaten at many vegetarian restaurants around the world, and I wouldn’t recommend this one—even if the prices were lower. Service: The staff were friendly, which is the only reason this place gets an extra star.
Kieran D — Google review
Every single bite was so unique and absolutely delicious. The depth and layers of flavor were satiating alone. As a self-proclaimed foodie and flavor critic I am always finding where meals can be “elevated” to be more satisfying - these dishes needed nothing. They were all perfectly balanced in flavor, texture and portion. If I could have pushed a button to rewind and have the meal all over again I would have. The ambiance is cozy and earthy, the service was exceptional, the presentation was art and the chef was visibly focused, pouring love and intention into every dish. 10/10 will definitely be back, can not recommend this place enough!!

Really amazing unique vegetarian food. Totally worth it to come all the way from Porto to get this. The nearby beach is also really nice. I really like how they bring one dish out at a time. It's almost like a build your own tasting menu. My wife and I shared 4 mains + dessert and I think that was the right amount of food to order.
Sandeep V — Google review
What a great dinner. One of the best vegetarian experiences I had in Portugal so far. Celery root with "oyster" sorbet was an amazing starting point, the katso sando and "seathings" rice elevated it a bit more, and the white chocolate and green curry desert was the perfect finish.
Jose M — Google review
Genuinely vegetarian restaurant that takes creativity seriously. The decor is "green" elegant without trying too hard, and the staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. We came for a family dinner — reservation was simple to make online and definitely recommended. The chef’s vegetarian creations are original and beautifully presented. We shared six dishes among three people, and each one felt like the new favorite. The cold “Beetroot, gorgonzola, black garlic and lamb’s lettuce” set the tone perfectly, while the warm “Açorda of brioche and tupí, turnip tops and wild mushrooms” was unforgettable. The reimagined Black Forest dessert closed the evening on a high note. Yes, prices are on the upper side, but they’re justified by the ingredient quality, the creativity on the plate, and the level of service. Not a place for meat lovers — this is where vegetables take the spotlight. I only wish there were a restaurant like this closer to home. I’d return without hesitation.

Majestic Café, established in 1921, is a Belle Epoque-era coffee shop located in the Baixa district. It is considered the sixth most beautiful coffee shop globally and has been a traditional hangout for artists, musicians, politicians, and intellectuals. The cafe's ornate interior features carved wood, mirrors, chandeliers, marble walls, gilt-framed mirrors, sculptured cherubs and ornate Art Deco decor.
Such a beautiful cafe restaurant. I love it so much. The inside of cafe is so stunning and it’s more like old Hollywood movies, I feel like I’m in a different world. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Their cafe tastes amazing and also the dessert is so delicious. I just wish they could use AC in hot summer days, but overall everything is perfect and for sure next time when I visit Porto I’ll go to there.

Must see stop in Porto. Interior design is so traditional you feel part of a different era inside. Service is fine and fast. You probably have to wait in line for a table but in my case it was no longer than 20 minutes. The menu has tons of options, tea service and desserts. If you dont want to spend as much money maybe its better to come here in the afternoon for coffee, tea or dessert :). Prices are elevated.
Daniela B — Google review
Majestic Café has a great view over Dam Square, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The beer is good and reasonably priced, but the food is disappointing and not worth the stop if you’re hungry. Service is fair, nothing special but gets the job done. Best enjoyed for a drink with a view rather than a full meal.
Chadi R — Google review
I had dinner at the Majestic Café in Porto. The café is unbelievably gorgeous — both inside and out — and truly worth seeing. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. I ordered a Francesinha, which was just okay, nothing special. The meal was also very expensive for what it was. Overall, I’d recommend visiting the Majestic Café to admire its stunning architecture and atmosphere, but not for the food. It’s perfect for taking pictures, less so for dining.

We totally knew what we were getting into with this TOURIST cafe - we knew it would be a wait, and expensive, because of the tourist nature of it. However, that was fine - we were on vacation and it really was quite pretty inside. We actually had a lovely time waiting in line outside in the queue, in fact, chit chatting with other tourists. I think we might have waited about 30 mins on a Sunday late morning. It was a photo oppo for sure, but the food was good too. We only had some tea/coffee and dessert items, but it was served quickly, attractively and friendly and it tasted good. It was a "one and done" for us, but I'm still glad we went for a snack.
C M — Google review
Such a special experience which I will never forget. The cafe really lives up to its name. I had the duck with red port sauce and potatoes which was just perfect followed by a gorgeous ginger, lime and white port cocktail. The service was world class and atmosphere electric. It was the best 50 Euros I've ever spent! Thank you so much to my Portuguese friend who recommended this place to me!

You would think that for €12 for pair of okay scones there might be toilet paper in the womens restroom, but no, not possible. The inside is beautiful, but the food does not move the earth. Service was exceptional. Just go inside and take a photo because its worth the trip.

Restaurant
Tapabento S.Bento is a cozy restaurant located in Porto, offering a mix of Portuguese and international cuisine in a laid-back atmosphere. The menu features delicious tapas such as wild prawn risotto, wild tuna tataki, and ceviche, along with popular dishes like Black Angus spare ribs. While the wine list may not be extensive, it offers good examples from different regions. The restaurant's owners are passionate travelers who aim to create a welcoming environment for guests from diverse backgrounds.
We arrived right when the restaurant opened, and it was clear that this place is extremely popular—getting a table without a reservation seemed quite difficult. Luckily, thanks to the kind host, we were able to get a seat even without a booking. As the host was showing us to our table, he asked where we were from, and it turned out he wanted to give us a menu in our own language. I was pleasantly surprised by this thoughtful gesture—usually, even when visiting non-English-speaking countries, you have to ask for an English menu, but this place had menus available in so many different languages. That alone made me feel warmly welcomed. The napkins and tablecloths were beautiful, and the interior decor was unique and charming. Our server, Alberto, was incredibly friendly. We’re from Spain and Korea, and he even used a mix of Spanish and Korean while speaking with us, which made the whole experience feel even more special. His kind and attentive service truly elevated the meal. The wonderful lady owner, Isabel seemed to be walking around the restaurant making sure everyone was having a good time. She personally served the dishes we ordered onto our individual plates and explained how to enjoy them—it felt like being a guest at someone’s home, with a loving mother serving the food she made herself. She speaks Spanish, French, English, Italian, and German fluently! And of course, the food was absolutely delicious. We were so full we thought we might burst, but still didn’t leave a single bite behind. It was a truly perfect meal—from the delicious dishes to the positive energy of the staff. If any of my friends visit Porto, I will definitely recommend this restaurant to them.

Excellent food and lovely staff! We had a great experience all around at Tapabento. Everything was incredibly fresh, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. The place was busy — and for good reason! The atmosphere was lively, the service was warm and attentive, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend Tapabento if you're looking for a memorable meal!

Literally one of our favorite meals in Portugal! Was recommended this place by my friend back at home! What you find here is delicious asian fusion with a Portuguese flare and beautiful flavors! We approve (and we are from California with a lot of great Asian restaurants)! We wish we had this restaurant back at home! We were greeted by the sweetest owner who treated us like old friends! We loved the following: 1. Chicken noodles 2. Nasi goreng 3. The duck medium rare (beautifully cooked, with crispy skin) 4. Peanut dessert (just do it, so good!) We recommend making a reservation ahead of time! But if you have to wait, it’s still worth the wait! Obrigada, until next time!
Alexandra L — Google review
The food and ambiance was fantastic. Excellent and sincere service, with the owner welcoming you and working the tables, friendly team. Engaged and helpful, and as they say in their welcoming text, make you feel like at their table. We had the fish soup and thai mussels and both were very good, fresh, tasty. Other dishes on tables also looked very good. Would come back either way no hesitation. The location is gorgeous entering by the main lobby of the historic train station. The space is tall and tables well set apart.

From the moment you enter Tapabento you feel at home! The staff is so welcoming, taking time to really know their guests which makes the entire experience unforgettable. Hidden inside the train station, the restaurant’s design is quirky and full of personality. The food is DELICIOUS! The flavours lingered long after I had finished, and I cannot recommend the fish soup highly enough. If could literally eat at Tapabento every day the food is that good! Thank you Isabelle and team for making my last day in Porto such a great one, I will definitely be back! ❤️

We went without a reservation, and the restaurant was really busy so we had to wait quite a bit. But the staff worked so hard to accommodate us, and it truly paid off. The food was absolutely delicious! There were so many different dishes to choose from, and everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. I had seen so many good reviews beforehand, and honestly, I was a bit nervous that the wait might lead to disappointment but they absolutely did not disappoint. The owner and staff felt like a close-knit family, and even in the middle of the chaos, they were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. They really created a warm and positive atmosphere and it felt good to be there. Highly recommend!

A sole traveller, only had half of a day left in porto before leaving at 3pm. I was looking for a good reasonably priced tapas place for lunch before flying off , chanced on Taoabento. Knowing how popular the place is and it was already 11pm I dropped a letter thinking no luck ..But no, Isabel replied to say no problem reserved a spot next morning..So surprised, got there on time was slightly hard to find, hidden within the train station/beside the platform ! Food was fabulous, Isabel came to recommend her own preference...I was a fan of mussle she was willing to change it with clams. I overheard the waitor's recommendation on ox tail "dim sum". Tempted added to order, and I did not regret of making that choice ! Was not the cheapest, but for the quality , freshness and creativity , taste of food was worth every single cent. Thanks for your hospitality. Hope to come back soon again to try the other dishes, not alone!

I think of it all the time and it’s been a year since I ate here! We had the most amazing breakfast here. Bis was our waitress and took excellent care of us. The guacamole with some of the best I’ve ever had. The berries were fresh. The hot chocolate taste tasted like chocolate and not watered down Cocoa. We had energy shots, water, and over easy eggs on bagels!

We visited Zenith in Porto this morning and had the most delicious brunch. We ordered the Zenith eggs and cheesy bacon scrambled egg bagel. The breaded poached eggs were very unusual and tasty! The bagel was perfect. All the food was so nice and it was all great quality ingredients. We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend. Lovely friendly service from Daniel too! Definitely check this place out!

The food is not tasty - it looks good, but is not tasty. It's very plain and the portions are small in comparison to what you get at most places in Porto. The aesthetic of the restaurant inside is beautiful, but the music is way too loud inside and you cannot hear your company and actually have a conversation. I will not be going back.

good service, but the food is not good. i got the egg zenith with smoked salmon- the salmon was pale in colour and did not taste good. i also got the shakshuka, they asked us with spinach/mushroom or bacon/cheese- we did not realize that they meant you have to add this on with a price. i found the shakshuka to be quite bland and the bacon to be really salty. the double espresso tasted watered down. the food looks good- but the taste was not there.

Casa Guedes Tradicional is a beloved spot in Porto run by two sets of siblings who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The highlight here is the famous smoked pork loin sandwich, best enjoyed with a glass of the local green wine called espadal. Additionally, homemade french fries are also recommended. Recently, Casa Guedes expanded with a new location that offers traditional Portuguese dishes and signature cocktails alongside the iconic sandwiches.
I’ve eaten here several times and it never disappoints. The roasted pork sandwiches, cod cakes, and croquettes are always tasty—especially when washed down with a cold Super Bock. Sitting outside is perfect for people watching. Life is good!

We serendipitously had lunch here. This is one of the finest restaurants in Porto. The personnel were amicable and well-informed. They patiently elucidated the diverse dishes. This was the first time we ordered patatas bravas on this trip and they were delicious. We ended up getting them every place we went and by the end of the trip the ones here were still my favorite. My friend loved the pork croquettes and actually asked for me after our meal because she loved them so much. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu has a lot of options!

Food was okay, Pork knuckle was really tasty, falling out of bone, do delicious, however side dish that you get with it was also good but portion is very small and not in proportion with the meat where you get really good amount of it. Other dish however, was nothing special, bacalar with egg and vegetables. It had some tomato taste which is fine but overall lacking some spices or something. Position of restaurant is nice, on the street.

Since I moved to Portugal, it has been my dream to try chorizo cooked over fire. And it just so happened that during this trip to Porto, when I remembered about it, we were right next to a place with a good rating and lots of reviews. The chorizo turned out just as I imagined — first a little fire show, and then juicy chorizo with cold beer — everything you need to enjoy the last sunny days. But be careful: if it’s windy outside, you’ll get a dose of fear along with your dish when the flames start blowing in your direction.
Polina M — Google review
I genuinely don’t get the hype of this place — the food was super cold, flavourless and the price per quality is off (9,90€ for a prego with Brie and 5,90€ for a small glass of wine is exorbitant). They get an extra star for the super nice staff and incredible roof top terrace, but overall not worth it!

Graham's Port Lodge, established in 1820 by Scottish brothers, offers an elegant and exclusive experience for those seeking to avoid the bustling riverside crowds. The tour begins with a brief video followed by an informative guided tour delving into the history of the Symington family and the various types of Port wine. Visitors appreciate the unhurried pace set by knowledgeable guides, making it one of the top choices for Port wine lodges.
Great wine tour and tasting! We walked up from the water's edge and that is an experience in its own right. Once at the top, the view over the city from Graham's restaurant terrace is incredible. We were lucky to find couple of places on their vintage tour. The tasting took place after the cellar tour I the vintage 1room.we had 3 port and cheese and Pastel de nata. I would recommend the tour but better to book in advance otherwise you may need to wait or don't find room. Our English speaking guide was very knowledgeable and articulate!

This is a small Port winery established since 1890s with a lovely adjourning Vinum restaurant overlooking the beautiful city. All the wine making and corking process is still being performed traditionally by hand. The port tasting was interesting as I tasted rich and sweet to nutty and smooth (my first time). The dinner was gastronomical (grilled sausages, crispy pork belly, wine pairing, etc.). 😋

Graham’s winery was amazing! The small museum is very interesting, and our guide was excellent, fluent in English and shared lots of fascinating details. The port wine tasting was great as well. Portions for the food pairings could be a bit bigger, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Stavroula G — Google review
We visited for a late-morning pre-booked English tour & tasting. We walked from Porto, which was all fine until we started to climb to Graham's - it was a challenging walk on the roads, with very teeny tiny shoulders! We arrived with only a few minutes to spare for our scheduled tour time. The exterior grounds and view are GORGEOUS - absolutely spectacular. If I had realized they were that nice I likely would have just had a drink on the terrace to soak it all in. However, the tour was mostly interesting; longer and more detailed than I had anticipated it being. I'm glad we did it, though I don't remember any of the information provided now. I think we had the misfortune of being in a tour group with some rather pretentious types; I felt a little bad for the tour guide (who was very friendly) as some of the guests seemed to be peppering her with some snooty-seeming (to me) questions. Maybe it was just a handful of bougie travellers, I don't know. The tour was followed by a tasting in a large, open room; we just did the basic tasting of 3 ports (I'm not a Port person, but the LBV was good) but I noticed others likely purchased one of the upgraded experiences with tasting items, etc. That part was mostly left on our own to taste, after the guide explained things, which I liked. We walked through the shop at the end, took another look around the beautiful landscaping and terrace, and hopped on an Uber back to our next destination!

We enjoyed the wine tasting tour very much. Learned a lot about port wine and I liked the 20 year tawny wine the best among the three offerings. The view outside is spectacular!

The views are the best of any port winery in the city and the tasting rooms are very nice. I just wish I’d skipped the “premium” tasting (the “six grapes” blend was horrible) and cheese “pairing” (quite bad) in favor of the nicer tasting options.

My wife and I enjoyed a very memorable lunch at Vinum earlier this month. We were immediately impressed with the elegant dining room that provided beautiful views of the Douro river and Porto beyond. We selected the "Traditional" menu with the matching wines option, and we were not disappointed. Each dish was beautifully prepared, presented, and matched with a wine that complimented the food perfectly. Service was friendly, polite, and professional. Our visit to Vinum was a highlight of our trip to Portugal and we'd love to return if we have the opportunity.

After visiting Graham's cellars, we had dinner at their onsite restaurant Vinum. We got a nice table on the terrace overlooking Porto bay. The food was very well presented and delicious. Service was very professional. An overall excellent experience!

There is ample space at and between all tables and the view over the river is sensational. The service was fabulous (I'm running out of positive adjectives now) and the food was to die for. Everything about the meal will stay in our memories. Thank you for looking after us and making it so special.

Let me start like this. Considering the price (around 75 euros per person) it will not live to your expectations. Other than that, presentation of the food is gorgeous, view is breathtaking and service is done in a way that people is there to agree with you (not exactly good this last one)... However, at this price tag, specially in Portugal, I expect I much more refined taste, service and experience. Bolinhos, olive oil and bread were great but mains were just non memorable. Pudim dessert was also a great finish to share (dont do it by yourself, sugar high). Good to bring someone there for a view-like experience.

This restaurant offers more than just a meal — it’s an experience. The location is absolutely spectacular, so make sure to arrive early to enjoy the full show: from the warm, shifting tones of the sunset to the glittering skyline as night falls. The staff is attentive, friendly, and strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth. Each dish is a feast for the eyes — colorful, artfully plated, and full of unexpected flavors. The sauces deserve a special mention: they are never just decorative, but thoughtfully crafted to complement the dish — whether adding sweetness to balance saltiness, a touch of acidity, or an aromatic note that lifts the whole plate. We chose to focus on seafood, and it was nothing short of impressive — fresh, creative, and full of personality. The wine list is… adequate. But to be fair, we are Italian, and we’ve been spoiled by our wine culture. Portugal, you’re well on your way — keep going! Overall, a truly exceptional dining experience. Highly recommended.

We had an incredible experience from reservation, to check in to service to the meal! We had a beautiful private table. The attention to detail and service, presentation was spectacular. Highly recommend if you also want to experience the wine tour which we did as well. If you don’t have a lot of time in Porto, I would book the Vin restaurant and the wine tour. The walk to the venue wasn’t that bad! We enjoyed the quiet hilly streets. The walk back helped digest our fulfilling meal and wine tour. Highly recommend for an all in one experience. The view from the top was simply beautiful.

Restaurant
Bacalhau is a renowned restaurant in Porto, Portugal, situated on the bacalhoeiros wall with a stunning view of the Douro River. It offers a variety of preparations honoring the beloved Portuguese fish, bacalhau, including stew, tongue rice, roasted dishes and soups. The restaurant boasts one of the best terraces in the city and aims to celebrate this iconic ingredient in Portuguese cuisine.
A small restaurant, on top of the Douro River with limited seating inside and out, if you have wait it’s worth it in my opinion, staff welcoming and friendly, atmosphere is excellent it’s busy but you don’t feel rushed, menu is limited with local dishes emphasis is Cod, we chose Fresh Cod for mains which was expertly cooked, served with soft onion and layered crispy potato, cold have eaten another portion it was that good, wine list is Portuguese and is reasonably priced. Highly recommend!

Unbeatable food, wine, dessert and views 😍😍😍 Went early and was very lucky to get a table with GORGEOUS riverside sunset views!!! Food was fantastic, flavourful "Codfish Loin with Porto-style cod tripes", elegant "Crispy dough with sweet egg ice cream", and of course a wonderful glass of port wine because that's what I came to Porto for! Considering the quality of the food, very friendly service and overall memorable experience, definitely worth the price I paid, cannot wait to come back again 😘👍🏻

My husband and I came here eight years ago and couldn’t wait to return to Porto to sit at the same table overlooking the Douro River. The fried fish skins were as crispy and delicious as we remembered, especially with a cold glass of vinho verde. The salad was fresh and tasty, and we finished with a yummy ice cream topped with pumpkin cream…ahh, so satisfying! Our waitress was very sweet. We’ll definitely be back before we head home.

Such an amazing meal, service, and view! Food was spectacular truly such good quality, fresh, and delicious meals. The service was also top tier, friendly and attentive staff. We did have to wait over an hour but we came at a busy time and didn’t mind the wait since we were able to have some wine and enjoy the view of the river. If you’re in Porto you must come here!

We found this restaurant through the good reviews and the nice view. The food and service was incredible. We choose the cod fish and Iberian pork, both dishes were full of flavors and beautiful simple at the same time! Juliana was a lovely host and helpful. 10 out of 10! 😊

THE VIEWS. THE FOOD. THR SERVICE. Run, don’t walk. Sit a while, ask what’s good. Drink and eat and soak it in. Such a gem, took my baby & 4 adults. Would go everyday if I found it sooner. Incredible food, great price.

The food was good – fresh fish and very tasty. We also tried the cherry gazpacho. It was fun to try, but a bit too sour for me. The service wasn’t great though. The staff were slow and not very friendly. They didn’t double-check our order, brought the wrong water, and didn’t really pay attention. So, good food, but the service needs work.
Eugenia T — Google review
We wanted to try a green wine and were looking for a nice side dish to go with it. Unfortunately, we misordered. We chose a dish that we thought would be savory, but it turned out to be very very sweet - a cheese gratin. It was totally unexpected. I wish the waiter had explained it a bit more when we asked, as that would have helped us make a better choice. Because of that experience, we didn’t end up ordering anything else other that couvert and bread basket. The wine itself was lovely, and the view here is really beautiful. It’s on the quieter side, even though people do pass by quite a bit - still, it’s a nice, peaceful place to enjoy a drink. Overall, even though the food we tried wasn’t great, I do think other dishes on the menu might be much better. I can still recommend this place, especially for the atmosphere and simple glass of wine.

Taberna Santo António is a charming, rustic restaurant located in Porto, specifically at Passeio das Virtudes. Run by the welcoming couple Mr. Vitor and Mrs. Herminia, this family-owned eatery offers a cozy atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. The menu features mouth-watering Portuguese comfort food such as bifana, a delightful combination of tender pork meat and flavorful beer-based sauce in a soft traditional bun.
Decided on this booking through trip advisor Definitely book in advance as it fills very quickly. Small quirky Portuguese bistro with authentic Portuguese cuisine We went for the pork belly and pork cheek with rice and potato’s that was divine and so tender to cut Desert was the chocolate mousse that definitely didn’t disappoint This paired with a few cold superbocks marked the perfect start to a Saturday evening. Will definitely recommend to anyone who decides to holiday in Porto

After reading all the positive reviews and judging by the queue to get in, I had quite high expectations. It turned out to be ‘ok’ but I wouldn’t rave about it. We visited for lunch and at a busy time which probably had an effect as service was pretty slow and I didn’t think the food was anything special. Reasonably priced to be fair. My daughter had the sardines and rice in tomato sauce, I had the pork in breadcrumbs layered with cheese, fried egg and curry sauce. Best part was the crème brûlée. Fries were quite greasy…nice atmosphere and friendly staff but probably not one I’d queue and wait for again.
Lisa M — Google review
A cozy tavern with a real homey atmosphere. If you come with a group, it’s best to book a table in advance, but if you’re alone, there’s always a spot at the lively bar. The food is amazing – the meat was so tender it literally fell off the bone. Desserts were also excellent, especially the chocolate mousse and crème brûlée. The staff work very quickly, and the manager, who speaks five languages, makes the atmosphere even more welcoming. Definitely recommend this place!

absolutely great experience. The atmosphere, the place and the most important - the food were fantastic! we ordered 3 dishes and we didn't expect that they will be so big! Real Portuguese food, fresh ingredients and very good prices! I recommend for 100 %, especially the meat stew with beans. This lunch made our day and the full impression of local food. Thanks for your work guys!
Olga S — Google review
We had heard great things about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try! The food was good, though quite heavy with very large portions. It might just be that we didn’t choose the best dishes for the season—on a very hot summer day, the stew-based menu felt a bit too rich, and we couldn’t finish our plates. Service was friendly and efficient, and we definitely recommend booking a table in advance.

The roasted ham shank was good, so is the pig cheek in red wine. A cozy little restaurant with good food and atmosphere. I however didn't like the creme brulee, it could be better, but just my opinion.

The foods are worth recommending. But!!, be careful of the 6 shady bacalhau croquettes at the beginning, they are not free. We said we don’t eat them and please take them away, but in the end they are still in the receipt. After complaining, they are gone, but the behavior remains very shady.

A Sandeira do Porto is a small but popular sandwich spot in Porto, offering a wide variety of sandwiches with unique combinations like smoked ham, brie and mango or chicken, goat cheese and apple. The cozy backstreet eatery has limited seating and operates on a cash-only basis. Despite the higher prices for takeout, visitors rave about the delicious sandwiches made with fresh ingredients and the friendly staff.
Very tasty sandwiches — honestly, some of the best I’ve had in Porto. The prices are very reasonable, and the port wine was a great addition. Great value and flavor all around. Definitely worth a visit!

Terrific lunch. Had the smoked salmon and feta sandwich and it was delicious. Everything looked good and I’ll likely be back this trip it was that good. Heads up, cash only, so go to the ATM before coming, it’s worth it for a good, quick, inexpensive meal.

We were looking for a quick breakfast spot near where we were staying and came across this place on Google. The menu showed sandwiches for around 5–6 euros, which seemed like a good deal. However, once we arrived, we realized the online menu was outdated - the actual price for a sandwich was 9 euros, which felt a bit overpriced for what it was. That said, we decided to stay and see if it was worth it. The sandwiches were good - not mind-blowing, but the flavors were nicely balanced and overall tasty. Still, I’d say the price felt a bit too high for a simple breakfast sandwich. The shop itself is tiny, so depending on how busy it is, it can feel a bit cramped. But there’s Wi-Fi and a bathroom, which is convenient. In summary, it’s a decent spot for a tasty sandwich, but probably not the most economical choice for breakfast - especially if you’re expecting prices listed online. Still, if you’re nearby and want something quick and flavorful, it’s a solid option. If the prices were a bit lower, I’d definitely come back. The food was good, but considering the portion size and cost, it felt more like a one-time visit rather than a regular spot.

Pedro dos Frangos is a popular eatery in Porto known for its delicious grilled chicken, which has earned it a legendary status among locals and visitors alike. The restaurant has been serving up mouthwatering dishes for over 60 years, with their specialty being the tender and non-greasy grilled chicken "no espeto." In addition to the flavorful chicken, patrons can also enjoy traditional rice and tomato & onion salad.
Local Eats w Great Service & Vibes First off, we got there about 7:20 and no wait. At 8:30 there was a substantial wait. Give it up for what seems like a small diner on the first floor but has two floors above. Efficient food delivery with a dumb waiter but real waiter was magnificent instructing us on the correct dining portions (do the smaller and order more for variety). I came for the grilled sardines and I got them! I would prefer roasted potatoes but boiled were fine. Request fresh lemons. I regret not doing so. My companion ordered the fish and was happy. Don’t expect a western garden salad but you will get all the ingredients laid out! A small box of brown bread and white rolls are deposited at your table. Could break a tooth on the dark bread! Beware. All in all a great experience and I was happy to tip my waiter as he was top notch. Maybe not the Portugal way but if you’re a tourista like me it’s one way to show a little American friendliness!

Pedro dos Frangos Review 🍗🐙🐟 Fresh and delicious roasted chicken I’m not usually a chicken fan, but at Pedro dos Frangos, I couldn’t stop eating! Really nice restaurant to get dinner. Service is amazing. Always with a smile from the servers. We ordered as an appetizer Bacalao cakes. For main entry we were greedy and ordered a Churrasco mixto and tripes with beans Porto Style. I know it was too much we couldn’t finished. Flavors were on point. The mojo with garlic they use for the grill mix we ordered was awesome. We couldn’t order dessert we didn’t have room for it.

I would say 3.5 stars. We came without a reservation and thankfully did not have to wait long for a table as we came just when they opened. When we left the queue was looong… so maybe it’s best to make a reservation. We had 1 chicken w fries and a side salad. Portions are Big! Chicken was nicely seasoned.. will be salty if you eat all the skin. Chicken breast wasn’t as succulent as I expected it to be but I guess it’s hard to cook juicy breast when cooking so many chickens at once. Fries were very very mediocre, will probably do away with it next time. Salad was nice and fresh. Service is a little dodge.
Jasmine — Google review
Unexpectedly the BEST meal I had in Porto. Grilled chicken was amazing tender, but the secret sauce (literally) is the Piri Piri sauce which elevated it to a whole new level. Get the octopus rice as well - very tasty. Portions-wise, 1 dose for the chicken and half dose for the octopus rice did very nicely. (Quick note: the queue actually starts on the second floor, so do look out for it if you don't have reservations. The queueing system was quite confusing to us.)
Hayden — Google review
Choose your time wisely - I think we got there by about 7 and got a table without a problem, by the time we were leaving there were about 30 people queuing. The food was very nice and well priced. We had the pork loin and the chicken. The only thing that wasn't great was the cake we ordered for dessert but tbh should have known better. it's a good place if you want a hearty meal.

Great meal only 30 euro for 2 people inclusive of entree, Main and 2 glasses of port. We had fried sardines and veggies. Inside, guests are treated to the sight of gigantic cod croquettes filled with delicious cheese, which are considered true works of art and worth every penny.
Every time I come to Portugal and stop in Porto, I try to visit "Casa Portuguesa" to eat the amazing original dish, "Pastel de Bacalhau," with a glass of white wine from Porto.

Heard this is the best place in the city to try Pastel de Bacalhau, and this place did not disappoint. I tried this cordfish fitter with cheese and this was crispy on the top and cheesy inside. There is a strong smell and taste of the cordfish but still this is delicious. The store itself is very well designed and they have outdoor seating options available. The pricing is moderate and the quantity is decent.
Akash B — Google review
The codfish cake is a traditional portoguese snack especially from the countryside. The twist here is that they add cheese in it. You can get it in a set with a Porto wine for a reasonable price. You can even keep the wine glass as souvenir! The codfish cake itself is decent, even if it’s my first time trying it. You get a good taste of the fish and the cheese. It wasn’t served hot in my case. But the service and ambiance of the place makes up for it, as you can see in my photos.
Syazwan K — Google review
I tried the pastel de bacalhau with cheese from this place. It was okay, but I felt it could have been better. The flavors were a bit lacking, and since it’s mainly potato and cheese, there’s room to make it more flavorful. That said, I had a great experience trying this authentic Portuguese codfish cake. The atmosphere is lovely, the presentation was excellent, and the staff were really nice. They took the time to explain what we were ordering even before we placed it, and they were very welcoming and cheerful throughout.
Kulunu M — Google review
€6 per each of the bacalao cakes is a bit much. They are traditional so you kinda have to buy one, but they are super dry, and extremely fried. They are eatable, but if you dont get one you wont be missing out.
Lily A — Google review
The Pastel de Bacalhau doesn't taste rich or good like in other more traditional locations. Less Bacalhau in the potato mash results in a mild taste. Inside was a mild cheese to make it special but cheese inside a Pastel de Bacalhau is not traditional. It was dry and not that great for 5 euro each. But the ambient of the location was amazing. I think it's more for tourists.
Ouafa H — Google review
Low evaluation for Service because it’s self service.. so you need to work to get your expensive food. Bolinhos de bacalhau used to have more cheese 2 years ago.. we got the regular and the extra cheese and even the extra does not have so much cheese like they use to have The place is nice inside and also outside Incredible expensive for what it is
Isabel C — Google review
We were walking by and it looked busy. We were just curious what's going on here. The lady kindly explained what's this fish potato bite and in a package it comes with a wine. "Portugal tasting experience" Total €12,5 The shop is really nice, go upstairs to the second floor to have a view from the balcony in good weather & enjoy the library room. I think it's touristic pricey but overall experience with the place is very good.

One of the best nata I had during my trip to Portugal — incredibly flaky crust and perfectly creamy filling. The texture and flavor were spot on! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the aroma of freshly baked pastéis de nata that instantly makes you smile. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always serve with a genuine smile — their great service really stands out. The natas themselves are perfection: crisp, flaky pastry with a creamy, rich custard filling that’s just the right balance of sweetness. Easily the best I’ve had in Porto! Pair one (or three) with a coffee or a glass of port for the full experience. The patio is beautiful — a peaceful, sunlit spot right in the heart of the city where you can relax and watch the world go by. Food was not fancy but delicious. We had Becalhau (not the dumplings), Rojoes and Pork shank sandwich. Becalhau was super good, must try if you like fish. Rojoes was a hearty, home dish but not too amazing. The sandwich was in decent portion, with flavourful, meaty pulled pork shank. For drinks we had sangria in port wine and somersby. The Sangria was quite sweet but its expected, quite refreshing indeed, I do recommend. Our waiter and waitress (Gustav and Alexandra) were very friendly and responsive. Had a great night here.

This was our first meal in Porto and what a great way to start! We had the steak special and the rojões along with sangria and beer and then the cheesecake ice cream for dessert. The sandwiches were delicious. The meat was so tender. Chips went with it perfectly. The ice cream was yummy. Prices are very reasonable too. Lots of tables available. It was full even at 2:30-3pm. We would happily eat here again and recommend this place to others.

Pedro Lemos is a renowned restaurant located in a historic building in Foz do Douro, Porto. The establishment spans two floors, featuring a charming ground floor with a wine cellar and an upper floor with a cosmopolitan ambiance. The restaurant offers three tasting menus, including a vegetarian option, showcasing fresh local and regional ingredients. With its Michelin star status, Pedro Lemos is considered one of the city's best dining spots.
Superb restaurant. We visited Porto just for Pedro Lemos, and it was absolutely worth it. The service, the atmosphere, and out of this world food. We tried the tasting menu, and every part of it was just perfect. I cannot say enough about the food, it just needs to be experienced. The staff were very friendly, especially our server Katarina, who went above and beyond, and to top it all off: on our way out, the head chef - Pedro Lemos himself - came out to say "hello." This is what I call a perfect experience.
E A — Google review
On our first night in Porto, we arrived at Pedro Lemos with our suitcases. Instead of being judgmental about our situation as we’ve had a long day and wasn’t able to stop at the hotel without being extremely late to dinner, they took our luggage with grace. We first sat down in their “waiting room” where we started with small bites. Afterwards, we entered the main dining room. The restaurant was beautifully designed and we learned that they had just recently moved into the space. It truly was a work of art. Instead of doing the regular tasting menu, we opted into the al la carte menu with 2 appetizer, one entree and dessert each. We wanted to try more of their dishes than just both having the tasting menu. The flavors of each taste were delicious and perfectly made. I can see why they received their one Michelin star. Would highly recommend for your dining experience in Porto.

What really made the night unforgettable was getting to meet Chef Pedro himself. He was so down-to-earth and genuinely took the time to chat with us, which made the experience feel even more personal. I have a few food allergies, which usually makes eating out a bit nerve-wracking, but the team here couldn’t have been more accommodating. They took everything seriously and still managed to serve dishes that were creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I felt totally looked after the entire evening, which meant so much. It’s not every day you find a place where the food is outstanding and the people are just as amazing. Pedro Lemos is more than just a fine dining spot—it’s an experience made with heart. I can’t recommend it enough.

Excellent service that you would expect from a mission rated restaurant. I would say the service quality is more akin to three Michelin stars than one. We did the eight moments set course. It was delicious. For a one Michelin star restaurant I would say this exceeded expectations. If this was a three Michelin star restaurant I would say it's below expectations. One of the appetizers (with the spider crab) was amazing, and the squab and squid dishes were fantastic. The lobster and red snapper dishes were good but not special. However, The restaurant is intimate and fancy. However, it was also a bit boring and lacked energy. Loud the music was very slow. I wouldn't expect loud music or a bustling atmosphere, but it was very much on the low energy. Overall, we had a very nice experience.

The dining experience at Pedro Lemos' Porto riverfront location exceeded expectations on all fronts when we tried their 7-course tasting menu. Every course impressed, including the surpise palette of welcome bites served at the reception lounge, but the blue lobster and amberjack courses were standouts. Truly exceptional execution all around, impeccable service from the moment you walk in, and a spotless but unpretentious ambience. A must try!

Fantastic food served by warm-hearted, kind and professional people in a beautiful venue. Focusing on a tasting menu with local produce, fish and with mostly local wines in the pairing, it was a wonderful introduction to Portuguese fine dining.

PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE. Birthday dinner was a success. Food, service, and atmosphere is why it rightfully has its Michelin backing. Pictures don’t do it justice Food: Chef Pedro’s understanding of sauce and flavor profiles comes out in every dish. Each item on your plate is able to shine in its own light, while intertwining with the rest of the dish to bring you a masterful experience be in each bite. Also the vegetarian tasting menu (partner is vegetarian) is a unique option for fine dining and did not disappoint- one of her all time favorites Service: every single member of the team worked in lockstep to make sure you were taken care of from the moment you walk in. Celebrated my birthday here and they went above and beyond. Atmosphere: intimate experience, comfortable seats, great decor. Would gladly go again, night after night.

Celebrated our anniversary in Porto with an extraordinary 12-course dining experience at Pedro Lemos after months on the waiting list. It was absolutely worth it! The food was superb, the ambiance magnificent, and the service outstanding. Definitely one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants we’ve ever experienced! 🌟✨ highly recommended!

Euskalduna Studio is a restaurant located in downtown Porto, offering a contemporary dining experience with a focus on haute cuisine. The chef and his team provide a friendly and welcoming environment where guests can embark on a gastronomic journey through a tasting menu consisting of 10 moments and surprises, featuring national and seasonal products sourced from small producers across the country.
Let me start by saying I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. It’s like watching an orchestra play in symphony. This restaurant has no servers. The chefs serve you the food, prepared in front of your eyes. The experience of watching the chefs prepare each experience was something I had never witnessed before. The flavors were also stunning. Very seafood heavy, which I didn’t have a problem with, since I do enjoy seafood. Service was amazing and all of the employees were a pleasure to interact with.

Absolutely outstanding in all criteria. Well balanced dishes, beautifully described and presented. Unique flavour combos, creativity and passion on display. Not pretentious at all, friendly and warm team. We took the local wine pairing which was a great learning experience made even better by the charm and knowledge of the brilliant and engaging sommelier. A must-visit. Out of 100's of superb restaurant experiences all over the world, this ranks very very near the top.

Amazing! This place should be two Michelin stars. Incredible service and astounding flavors in the dishes. There was only one dish that was a skip for me. Every other dish was great, and five to six were world class. They also gave an additional 3 dishes on top of the 10 dish menu for 160€. If you are looking for a memorable Michelin star restaurant in Portugal that is good value for the price, go here.

Seating at the chefs table was an amazing dining experience. With each dish a different memeber of the team would arrive to serve us and talking to them was so interesting and insightful, really added a whole new layer of value. The food, prepared before your eyes, was wonderful. The sommelier gave us excellent wine pairings. Definitely not an experience to miss out on

Every single thing about this restaurant is amazing. The attentiveness of the staff, the mastery and artistry of the chefs, and the overall ambience were all top-notch. I made a late reservation so I hade to go on the waiting list, but was lucky enough to have the restaurant reach out with an open seat. I’m very happy they did because it was a very memorable experience. If you can make a reservation do so. And if not, take a chance and go on the guest list. Whatever you do, find time to experience Euskalduna! Chef Vasco is one of a kind!

If I could give a 100 stars I would! I had my 40th birthday dinner here with my best mates in August when we were visiting Portugal. I’d read the reviews and was excited to try this place out. Boy of boy was I wowed. Firstly the restaurant atmosphere is so welcoming and warm. The staff are BEYOND amazing - I think we met every member of the restaurant as they served us dishes and just explained everything so phenomenally. The sommelier was incredible at recommending wines for us. And Chef Vasco coming to our table, serving us, chatting to us, giving us great recommendations and even clearing our plates was something I’ve never experienced in Michelin star restaurant. Every dish was unified, unique and so memorable- I was blown away and I’m so glad to have had this experience. Do not hesitate to book - you will not be disappointed. Thank you Chef Vasco & team for your love, care and thoughtfulness in curating such a wonderful experience - one of the best meals I’ve had. Pls let us know when you open your restaurant in Sydney!!!

The team at Euskalduna have created a lovely experience. From the tasting menu, to the local wine pairing and service - you'll consistently have wonderful moments. The Tuna, Quail and Main Dessert were superb standouts, to this great tasting menu. I would recommend to anyone looking for an intimate and unique dining experience.

We have been to a couple of Michelin rated restaurants in different countries and wanted to try the experience in Oporto as we heard great things about its cuisine. After some research, we decided to give Euskalduna a try and it really didn’t disappoint. Let me start with the team and the atmosphere, in previous Michelin rated restaurants the vibe sometimes felt somehow pretentious and to rigid, while at Euskalduna it was the opposite, without loosing the attention to detail, the decoration, cutlery and the human touch really makes you feel that you are at a friends apartment who is cooking for you. Secondly, been so close to the chefs and been able to see everything they do felt like we were watching a calm and relax “the bear” episode. Finally, the food is amazing but I will let the photos speak for themselves and for you to give it a try because it’s definitely worth it. Ps. We also tried the bakery (Ogi) that makes their sourdough bread and it’s also definitely a must if you are around. Thank you to all the chefs for an amazing experience.

Pastry shop
Manteigaria is a renowned bakery that originated in Lisbon and has expanded to include a second shop in the capital as well as a location in Porto. The cozy and traditional atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists, who often enjoy their natas while observing the pastry chefs at work. While Pasteis de Belem is considered the original and best place for pasteis de nata, some argue that Manteigaria may now surpass it.
This place certainly deserves its ratings for excellent egg tarts. You will never go wrong with these tarts which have very flaky pastry and a soft custard filling, without being too mushy. The coffee is decent to help wet the throat after the pastry crumbles in your mouth! Highly recommend this pastry shop.

Honestly, 11/10 would go again. This lil piece of portuguese deliciousness stole my heart and feels like im being reborn and ready to get baptised again in the church right to next it. I’m not joking when I say I am seriously considering to move to Porto just for these tiny bad bois to be entering my mouth for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and obviously as a midnight snack. If you don’t go here first thing upon arriving in Porto you are definitely missing out, which, honestly, you should avoid at all costs as this is and should be a national treasure and gift to mankind even though we don’t deserve it!!!!

Located in downtown Porto, THE ROYAL COCKTAIL CLUB is a sophisticated and charming boutique bar known for serving some of the best cocktails in town. The upper floor offers a regular bar experience, but the real excitement happens on the lower floor where seasonal signature cocktails are served. The bar's barmen have been recognized for their expertise, making it a go-to spot for cocktail enthusiasts.
My husband and I are both cocktail enthusiasts and have worked in the industry ourselves a long time. This place is pricy but absolutely worth it for the quality of cocktail and presentation. We were lucky to have the bartender who had created the current cocktail menu behind the bar when we sat, and were able to chat to him a little about his menu. The thought and passion put into it alone was beautiful, it’s a journey through the elements. Water, fire, earth, air. Each cocktail has its own page in a gorgeous menu with poetic descriptions to accompany their photos. We listed a few we were stuck between and he was so knowledgeable in guiding our selections. I wish we could’ve tried the whole menu. I highly recommend sitting at the bar if you can, it was very cool to watch the bartender make all the drinks for the restaurant and when he had the time he would explain to us what he was making when he caught us watching. Great spot, great staff!
Olyvia S — Google review
We visited this bar based on online recommendations. The interior is cozy and stylish, with plenty of seating space. It’s a great place to come and hang out with friends. The cocktail prices seemed a bit high to me – the cheapest one was €12.50, and for four cocktails we paid €50. The drinks themselves were tasty, but I wouldn’t say they were anything extraordinary; there was no real wow factor apart from the presentation, which was excellent. They looked fantastic. I’m not a bartender, but in some cocktails there seemed to be way too much ice – only about 30% of the glass was actual drink. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be, but it felt a little unbalanced. On the positive side, the menu is very creative and fun to read. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, so I’d still recommend checking out this charming bar.

Best cocktail bar we found in Porto! The large and diverse menu made it hard to pick which drinks to get, but the ones we tried definitely did not disappoint! Overall incredibly well crafted and well presented cocktails in a stylish yet cozy atmosphere.
Kelly H — Google review
This place ended up being a bit of a disappointment for me. The interior is absolutely beautiful — stylish and inviting — but unfortunately, the drinks didn’t quite live up to the setting. The cocktail menu felt very limited, and the ones I tried weren’t particularly impressive. For the price point, I was definitely expecting more in terms of quality. Another small detail: no water was offered alongside, and the ice cubes in some of the cocktails weren’t the clear, well-prepared kind you’d normally expect at this level. Instead, they looked like regular freezer ice, cloudy in the middle, which took away from the overall presentation. It’s a lovely-looking place, but with such high prices, I’d hoped the cocktails and service details would match the beautiful interior.
Hanna S — Google review
I read some of the negative reviews and I’m not sure what planet those people were living on… The cocktails were very good, I can see why they aren’t in the top 50 yet, but could be. We found them to be rather inexpensive compared to most Top 50 in the world bars. The chantico had crushed BBQ chips on the outside that really brought out the smoke of the mezcal. The Trinity and Candlelight were our favorites but all were very good. We waited for maybe 10 minutes to get in, a little touristy for sure with a lot of English and Americans downstairs. Service was great, especially considering they were packed. Definitely glad we made the trek up! The road they are on is pretty crazy on a Friday or Saturday night. But plenty of places close by to grab a cocktail while waiting for a spot

We came in tonight and were warmly welcomed by Pedro and Santiago. This entire bar is absolutely beautiful 😍. The bf and I both had an espresso martini and let me tell you they were DELICIOUS. Época Porto is a charming breakfast place in Porto with a clear Nordic influence in its interior decor. The café offers a short, seasonal menu prepared with great care using organic ingredients from local producers. It's known for high-quality food and can be a bit pricier than regular cafes. Despite its small size and long lines, it's worth the wait. The café is located in the vibrant Bonfim neighborhood and is committed to using organic, seasonal, and locally sustainable ingredients.
I visited Porto for just three days, and I ended up going to Epoca three times — that’s how much I loved it! This cozy little spot instantly makes you feel at home, with a calm minimalist decor, and plenty of natural light. The food is incredibly fresh, delicious, and full of amazing flavor. You can truly taste the difference high-quality ingredients make — everything is thoughtfully prepared with care and creativity. Their brunch options are especially memorable, and the coffee is fantastic. The staff are warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit if you’re in Porto!

Such an amazing spot for brunch/lunch. We had some bread with cheese, fried egg, and the scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs were some of the best we’ve had - ever. So creamy, so delicious: topped with Parmesan and lots and lots of chives. So good. The sourdough bread was also very good!

Firstly I should note that the scrambled eggs that made this place popular are no longer on the menu. So that was a bit of a disappointment. Instead we tried the eggs labneh and French toast which were both nice dishes. However the service was a bit slow and we had to ask multiple times for water so that’s one area that could be improved.

Ribeira Square, located in Porto, is renowned as the city's first commercial square due to its proximity to the Douro River, facilitating trade. It holds historical significance as it is believed that Henry the Navigator set off from this square for his conquest of Ceuta in 1415. The area is a tourist hotspot with attractions like Calem, Cais da Ribeira, and nearby commercial areas for souvenir shopping.
We waited by the fountain to have a table outside, and it was well worth the wait! The service from Monica was lovely, and she served us with good humour and excellent hospitality. All of the food we had was delicious, and the port we finished the meal with was also lovely. The atmosphere in the square is great, and it's nice to watch the fountain in the evening. For the starter, main meals and dessert (alongside the drinks), we felt it was very reasonably priced. Book ahead, or be prepared to wait a little, as they take their time to make sure everything is just right. We also appreciated not feeling rushed once we were sat at a table; we're on holiday, and we liked being able to savour the food and our time there. For those who have said they didn't like waiting for seats, there are plenty of places nearby that were empty. This restaurant is busy for a reason!

The restaurant is not spacious but they have a good vibe. We like everything we ordered. The seafood rice is the best I’ve ever tried. The flavor of the seafood broth was so rich that we couldn’t help but finishing the food in minutes. The rice was perfectly cooked and absorbed all the flavor. I’ll always miss this place in Porto.
Anson L — Google review
We had been trying to come here a few times during our stay in Porto, but there was always a lineup. The restaurant is small and cosy, and they don’t accommodate groups larger than four. It’s best to go as a pair. That said, it’s definitely worth the wait. For starters, we shared the Bacon Bruschetta, which came with bacon, tomato, and chèvre cheese, along with stuffed mushrooms, spicy potatoes, and a mixed salad. Everything was fresh and well-seasoned. For the main dishes, we had the Gratin Cod, served with cream, spinach, and mozzarella. We also tried the duck breast and the grilled pork fillet. The seafood really stood out, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. I would stick to the seafood as that hit the spot with me. To end the meal, we shared the Dream Cake, a rich chocolate cake layered with meringue and served with mandarina ice cream. It was a perfect finish to the evening. The wine we chose was the Diálogo Douro DOC, and it paired beautifully with our meal. The real charm of the place is the owner. She works the ground floor herself and is incredibly welcoming and friendly. You can tell she really cares about the guest experience. If you plan to visit, I recommend going between 6 and 7 p.m. to avoid the dinner rush. They only have two tables for groups of three or four, and larger parties won’t be seated.

Great location, first and foremost. Staff were welcoming but waiter then seemed surprised - even a little disappointed - that we both went for the small francesinha rather than the large. However, it was delicious in a tremendous, slightly spicy, sauce. Wife had a large glass of green wine while I just had a delightful 0.4l of very cold beer- the ubiquitous super-bock. After arriving late from Lisbon to Porto, I found this restaurant and decided to visit after reading reviews on Google. I visited with my child and ordered grilled octopus, seafood rice, grilled shrimp, and sangria. Overall, it was a bit salty for our family's taste, perhaps because it was meant for seafood. However, it wasn't bad when paired with the accompanying garnish. The sangria was 15 euros for 500ml. It felt quite expensive, but I ordered it just to try it. Is this typical Portuguese sangria? (See photo) It was unbelievable... It was expensive, but it was worth experiencing at least once. While taste buds vary, everyone in my family agreed it was salty. Again, it's best enjoyed with garnish. Not recommended for those sensitive to salt. I also tried the seafood rice for the first time, and while it wasn't quite what I'd seen before, it was a decent experience. (If I were to visit again, I wouldn't order it.) Also, we had a table on the first floor and on the terrace. Since there were no seats on the upper level, we gave up on the view and went to the second floor. While we didn't experience any special service, we had a hard time paying. They were demanding a tip. We didn't add any, but... if we had experienced exceptional service and a unique taste, it wouldn't have been a waste. It's important to serve something from the heart, but... It was frustrating when we had to pay. They persistently asked for a tip for two or three minutes, but we never added one. We won't be back again when we visit Porto. I hope my review was helpful.

We wanted to order the barnacles but were told that its not in season. The young gentleman next to us kindly explained to us that right now the weather is dangerous for the percebeiros (professionals whose job are to harvest percebes or barnacles on the rocks). We got to chat a bit about the seafood culture in Portugal. We ordered stuffed edible crab and grilled tiger prawn. So fresh and delicious. Just before we were about to get the check, we were told that the young man actually was one of the bosses and he sent us a sweet desert! Thanks!

1st Place for Best Francesinha in Porto,Portugal,Europe,World,Solar system,Galaxy etc etc etc..Unquestionably !! Best Francesinha I had in Porto (I visited 3 different places for it and will, for sure, be back to try more!). The sauce had a lovely spiciness to it and the bread used really soaked it up nicely. Chips were also in point! Most importantly, the service was very friendly, very welcoming, and very warm. Really recommend a visit! NOTE: it's a cash only restaurant
